321 - Back With A Bitcoin To Burn

Andy updates the people on where their Bitcoin is sitting post-Mandated Break, and the boys float a few ideas for how it might eventually be spent (wisely?). A bold skills claim from Liam Hemsworth prompts a call to actor Dave Lawson to verify the story, and there’s a Power Move from a 99-year-old to admire. Web Geezer Jez shares some big news after 18 glorious years with the team. 1. The People’s Bitcoin 2. Hemsworth’s Huge Claim 3. Power Moves 4. Web Geezer Jez

  A Listener Production.

• 0:06Speaker 01

The ghostly government mandated break is over. And Hamish and Andy can finally get back to doing what they love the most. Working. But while we celebrate March coming around, we can't help but feel cheated of the great conversations between Hamish and Andy that were forbidden to be broadcast during the three month podcast ban. Moments like this.

• 0:34Speaker 02

Hey Ham, Merry Christmas. Thanks mate, who doesn't love a bit of Christmas ham?

• 0:40Speaker 01

  And this.

• 0:41Speaker 00

  Hey Ham, Happy New Year.

• 0:43Speaker 02

Thanks mate, hey, who doesn't love a bit of New Year's ham?

• 0:49Speaker 00

Although that could make you sick.

• 0:51Speaker 01

But like frost thawing in the northern hemisphere, the podcasting mandate is about to be lifted and conversational flowers will bloom once again.

• 1:01Speaker 00

Hey Ham, I can't believe the break is finally over.

• 1:04Speaker 02

I know, who doesn't love a bit of podcast ham?

• 1:09Speaker 00

Are we in the studio right next to you actually doing a flick your microphone?

• 1:12Speaker 02

I know, yeah, I can see you, yeah. Okay, great, no, well, let's, um, let's do, who doesn't love a bit of first show ham?

• 1:19Speaker 02

  All right, let's do it.

• 1:28Speaker 01

Activate your internet, because the Hamish and Andy podcast starts in three, two...

• 1:38Speaker 01

  Sorry, it's still buffering.

• 1:41Speaker 01

  One.

• 1:44Speaker 02

Ahoy to me umbra. Oh, um, umbra, it's just great to be back to you, bra. It's true great to be back. If Jack's a yeah bra, I think it's just noises before the word bra. Nah, ahoy to me penumbra. Henumbra. I have heard this word before. Tough one to start the year on, what are you, Andy? Are we on a xylophone or something like that? No, I'm the antumbra. All right, so everything's sort of dancing around the umbra. Mirrors before it, after it, under it, over it. What are we? We are the three distinct parts of a shadow. That's true. Yeah, the moon should like shadows on the moon. Yes, or on the earth.

• 2:27Speaker 03

  On the earth.

• 2:28Speaker 02

That's where I remember Sunny's geography revision from last year. When the moon shadow gets cast across the earth in like a, in a solar eclipse.

• 2:37Speaker 03

That's the Antumbra. That's the Antumbra. Oh, so very rare Umbra. The Umbra, that's the rare one, me. The, uh, the Umbra, hey, you're the darkest and central part of the shadow.

• 2:47Speaker 02

That's the best bit. That's where you get the good viewing. That's a very small place.

• 2:51Speaker 03

And Penumbra, the lighter outer part of the shadow where light sources are just kind of partially blocked.

• 2:56Speaker 02

  See reserve tickets.

• 2:58Speaker 03

It's actually a better view because you can see more. The black, the deepest part of a shadow. You don't know what's going on in there.

• 3:06Speaker 02

We, well, no, if you're watching an eclipse, you want to be in the absolute VIP. You want to be right in the middle.

• 3:11Speaker 03

Wait, is it just for eclipses or any shadows?

• 3:12Speaker 02

  It's any shadow.

• 3:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 3:14Speaker 02

The big one, the most famous shadow of all is the eclipse. No one cares. I mean, of course, where there's light, there's shadow day to day. No one's, no one's interested. Name a more famous shadow, Jack. We'll wait.

• 3:29Speaker 02

It would have to be the most famous shadows.

• 3:30Speaker 03

What about a sundial? That's a pretty famous shadow.

• 3:33Speaker 02

Boring. Well, no, but garden variety, replicable.

• 3:37Speaker 03

  Literally garden variety.

• 3:39Speaker 02

Literally garden variety. You go, I could go out right now. It might be good audio, but it's fun. It's a good fun event. We take the mics right now. We go outside and do a sundial, but you can't make an eclipse.

• 3:47Speaker 03

  No.

• 3:48Speaker 02

Unless of course you are Mr. Burns in the Who Shot Mr. Burns episode of The Simpsons, where he builds that big shield to go over Springfield. So they'll use nuclear energy the whole time.

• 3:59Speaker 03

Interesting. And how interesting that at the end of the episode, he uses a sundial to point to M, W and S, which means M and S, Maggie Simpson. Spoiler alert, if you haven't seen the Who Shot Mr. Burns episode.

• 4:11Speaker 02

And Andy, Andy, true crime is popular on podcasts. People will enjoy that.

• 4:16Speaker 03

We got beaten over the government mandated break by true crime podcasts.

• 4:19Speaker 02

And now, so we won't do big crimes, but we will do cartoon crimes from 30 years ago.

• 4:26Speaker 00

Ahoy also to Pierce, who's in Virginia, who used the very easy to use system, hasn't been upgraded over the government mandated break. Have habishenney.com to upload his audio to tell us what he's been doing.

• 4:38Speaker 04

Ahoy, boys. This is Pierce, calling from Virginia in the United States of America. I'm out here walking in the snow with my dog and my daughter. I just thought you might like to know, I was listening to the radio earlier and I heard a piece about a sport known as ice sailing. This is a sport where a boat has skis attached to it and it uses sails to sail very fast on the ice. And one of the ice sailors referred in passing to a sport known as soft water sailing. Took me a moment, but of course I realised that the concept of treating sports as normative

• 5:20Speaker 04

in the way that ball golf used to simply be called golf. It's catching on that this is not a good way to talk about sports. So ball golf, disc golf, we can now add to this list, ice sailing and soft water sailing. I hope this helps and you know, thanks for getting this started. It's great to see it catching on.

• 5:43Speaker 00

  Yes, Pierce, thank you.

• 5:44Speaker 02

Should accept all forms of water, no matter how hard or soft they are.

• 5:48Speaker 00

Yes, I noticed the CD to Hobart over the break and I was like, hmm, was that on soft water or was that ice?

• 5:53Speaker 02

Yeah, what's the hardness of your water? I don't care.

• 5:56Speaker 00

  Soft water sailing.

• 5:57Speaker 02

  Yeah, it is.

• 5:58Speaker 03

Well, then all water sports could become soft water sports, like all swimming in the Olympics.

• 6:04Speaker 02

Hard water swimming. Would have loved to see it at the Winter Games, Miss Trick.

• 6:08Speaker 03

  That's skating.

• 6:09Speaker 02

And then they are just flailing around again, freezing. A lot of frostbite on the chest, but they don't give up. Good on them.

• 6:18Speaker 00

Hey, we have to pick things up, almost where we left things last year.

• 6:22Speaker 02

  Great to be back.

• 6:23Speaker 00

There was a huge bombshell, second last show of last year. Of course, the last show was Burg Boys, which, um, congrats, look, to you and to Jack. Congrats on a non-Peter out for one.

• 6:35Speaker 02

Still high on the buzz of Burg Boys.

• 6:36Speaker 00

And that's, it made sense to go into hiding for three months, um, while the police obviously searched for us now. That's gone.

• 6:44Speaker 02

We can come out. Yes, that's your limitations is gone. Don't quote us on that. Um, but for us, that, yep, you cannot be charged with theft after three months. Again, if you are a criminal, do not take that as fact. It's a little longer than that.

• 6:58Speaker 00

Um, WebGez just came to us, second last show of last year, with some news. For people who may have missed it, if you're tuning in for the first time ever, welcome. By all means, we do enjoy and recommend people going back to the start so they're up to date, but we welcome anyone who's just joining at any time. But Jezza had this news for us.

• 7:16Speaker 05

So I just got a little, uh, piece of paper for you guys.

• 7:18Speaker 02

  Oh, boy.

• 7:20Speaker 05

  That's got something on it.

• 7:22Speaker 00

  Oh, my God.

• 7:25Speaker 05

  You found the Bitcoin password?

• 7:26Speaker 02

  You got it.

• 7:27Speaker 05

Anthony. He found it. One is the people's Bitcoin and one's your Bitcoin. It was insane. But people have a Bitcoin? The weight off the shoulders. What are we gonna do with it?

• 7:36Speaker 00

After 12 years of a lost Bitcoin, suddenly they're back in our pockets. Huge. What are we gonna do with it? That's what you said, Ham, and that's what we've been thinking about.

• 7:46Speaker 02

People's Bitcoin. I mean, we barely, I know it was, there was a quick break, but I barely had a chance to think about it, what with all the fighting the government. Yep. Trying to squeeze in some small ball golf. Um, but I, I've had a few thoughts of the Bitcoin. Have you guys had a few thoughts on what we do with, I mean, it's a full Bitcoin.

• 8:03Speaker 00

Well, it depends. I mean, I, I have had thoughts.

• 8:07Speaker 02

  Where's the price at?

• 8:07Speaker 00

Well, these were our, I've got the prices of today, but this is our predictions. So when we recorded that break, November 28th last year, Bitcoin was sitting at $140,000 Australian.

• 8:21Speaker 02

  Great.

• 8:22Speaker 00

These were our predictions of where it would be when we got back.

• 8:25Speaker 02

Should we take a guess, a Hamish Handy Jack guess, at what we think the price will be when we come back?

• 8:31Speaker 00

  First show next year.

• 8:32Speaker 02

Boom over the government mandated break? Is it gonna dip? I'm gonna go bullish at 180.

• 8:38Speaker 00

  I'll go 200. I think it's gonna settle at 167.

• 8:45Speaker 02

Good, would take all of them.

• 8:47Speaker 00

As we record this, it's at $91,000.

• 8:50Speaker 02

  Okay, that's a dip.

• 8:51Speaker 00

  It's a dip.

• 8:52Speaker 02

And I did say to you on the day, cash it out.

• 8:56Speaker 02

  I remember firmly going.

• 8:58Speaker 00

After telling us it was gonna go up to 180.

• 8:59Speaker 02

I said, take half off the table. I do remember something. I was like, Andy, we gotta connect, we gotta lock in some of these profits.

• 9:05Speaker 00

  That's a 35% decrease.

• 9:07Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 9:08Speaker 00

  In about 70 days.

• 9:10Speaker 02

Well, I think we obviously hold on here. We hold on and let her ride while we still formulate what we are gonna do.

• 9:17Speaker 00

Well, I was having a look at times we've thought we've had a Bitcoin in our possession.

• 9:23Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 9:23Speaker 00

  It's gone from $900 to $2,600.

• 9:28Speaker 02

  We're still ahead.

• 9:29Speaker 00

Then when we lost it, it rocketed up to $190,000 at its highest mark.

• 9:35Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 9:35Speaker 00

Since we've got it back, it's now down to $91,000.

• 9:39Speaker 02

Do you think us owning one, do you think us having access is a curse?

• 9:44Speaker 00

  That's what I'm saying.

• 9:45Speaker 02

  Shit, so we have to.

• 9:47Speaker 00

But how can we give it away and then know we're gonna get it back? It's, it's tough, isn't it? But it's whether we move swiftly now or not.

• 9:56Speaker 02

The only thing to do would be to get some, a third party person to change the password.

• 10:01Speaker 00

  Mm hmm.

• 10:02Speaker 02

And then they deliberately lose it. And we hope, we hope to get it back one day.

• 10:09Speaker 00

What if someone, I don't know who the right person is to do this, but someone takes the password, buries it somewhere and makes a treasure map for us. And then all we've got is the map to treasure.

• 10:20Speaker 02

  They won't give it back.

• 10:21Speaker 00

But we don't have the Bitcoin.

• 10:22Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 10:23Speaker 00

  Anyway, all I'm saying is.

• 10:24Speaker 02

Okay, that's one, that's one avenue. This is, we'll file this under the heading of, um, how can we fight a curse with alternate magic to increase the value of cryptocurrency? Which is a very well-known scientific field. But on the other side of the ledger, we're like, let's assume that we get it back to say, you know, let's call it an even hundred grand.

• 10:42Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 10:43Speaker 02

And then the rest is icing.

• 10:45Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 10:45Speaker 02

It's the people's Bitcoin. A lot of people writing in over the break, you know, with with ideas and the general theme I'd say of the ideas is you've got to share the wealth. You've got to share with to find a way to share the wealth here. But of course, with that wanting to toot their own horn, you know, there are like a million listeners. So I don't know how wrapped everyone's going to be with 10 cents. I think, I think. You say it like that, it kind of sucks. It's a waste. That's like deleting it almost. Yeah. Because no one's going to. That that dilutes it too much. Yeah. I think we've got to find the funnest way to spend $100,000 for the benefit of the people. I've got one suggestion, kick yourself. Yeah, go. People's car. We spend 50 grand on a car. Yep. And then $40,000 on an app that people sign up to to rent the vehicle in their local area. For free.

• 11:30Speaker 02

For free. Do you know what car we should get? I don't know how real these are, but I think I saw an article about like, they're a fake, like, there are factories in China that essentially make fake Rolls Royces. And I think they're, I think they're about 50 grand. Great. And they're shit. But they get you from A to B. Yeah. They get you from A to B. And for, and to, at a glance, I think it looks like you're in a Rolls. That's cool. And then you could just travel around the country. So, but yeah, if you say if you're on a road trip to Alice Springs, you see if it's in your local area, bingo, it is great. You book it in and then you leave it like a Lime bike, but just obviously. We become, we become a one car rental company. One car rental company. We're the opposite of pretty much every other business model, which is just maximum

• 12:15Speaker 02

waitlist, zero convenience. It's an absolute fluke if this thing comes off. And once you get out of it now, the springs, you take photos of it, you've left it safely. Keys are, keys are in the lockbox. All right. So we're one car, a one car car share company. Well, I think if we can't get that, if it's just, you know, a regular car. Can we, can we, can we get that quote of 40 grand for the app down? Can we get a bit off that? Because his brother works for the app company. This is it. Andy has funneled $40,000 of this straight into his brother's digital agency. All right. Onwardsman sniffing, sniffing around that one. We're not spending more.

• 12:54Speaker 02

The quote keeps going up. Yeah, we'll only have 10,000 for the car. I might do a bike, might be do a push bike. What's Jack's idea? Pay an unemployed podcast guy to write a funny song for this show. $100,000 fee.

• 13:08Speaker 02

  I've got an idea.

• 13:09Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 13:10Speaker 02

And it came to me because over the break, I briefly flirted something, some people are doing this thing, no spend 2026 or like no, not buying anything in 2026. And I thought, do I do this for the year? Do I?

• 13:23Speaker 00

  You never do that.

• 13:23Speaker 02

Wow. Yeah. No, I'm just saying I'm not doing that. I obviously can't fight, I can't fight the impulse. So I thought, is there a, do we lean into this? Rather than me trying to resist the urge I have as the, as marketing, you know, as people just completely, the algorithm just pillages me because it knows all my soft buttons. Do we do a mad cap 24 hours where I sit down with a hundred thousand dollars online? And I just buy whatever I want. And I just like trying to smoke 10 cartons of cigarettes to get me off cigarettes. Right. I just go nuts. I just let impulses take over and I just go, I just go wild. And I see if I can get to the bottom of this craving. I won't keep any of it.

• 14:07Speaker 02

We then give away all the product.

• 14:09Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 14:10Speaker 02

As a, as like a showcase, everyone gets, one person gets everything or? Maybe you have to win away, you win tickets to the showcase and then you can pick one thing from, from the showcase. Kind of like, like the world's greatest Oscars gift bag. We put on an expo of your impulse. It's, it's impulse expo. Cause the first thing I tried to buy, which annoyingly was AI, but I thought it was real was, you know, DeWalt, the power tool company. I saw a thing where it looked like they'd made battery powered snowshoes. You clip them so they're like little caterpillar tracks.

• 14:41Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 14:42Speaker 02

Many tractors basically were on your feet to glide you through the snow.

• 14:45Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 14:45Speaker 02

You've already got movable shoes that you never use. These are snow based, Jack.

• 14:53Speaker 02

No, that guy's still got them. You gave them to him for summer. That was two years ago. You gotta get those back.

• 15:00Speaker 00

Yeah. He didn't even know he didn't have them until you just reminded him of it.

• 15:03Speaker 02

  What were they? Moonwalkers?

• 15:04Speaker 00

In Sydney, famous for not having too much snow around. You don't need the snow.

• 15:08Speaker 02

But having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing them. So this impulse expo. 100 grand, 24 hours, just wild. And then the people benefit from, you know, you win your way in. You get a, you get a shot at the gift, at the gift.

• 15:21Speaker 00

I don't mind that. I had another idea, which was you and, we encouraged people at the end of last year to play the game, which was, don't never, never pay for parking. You just see how, how you go. Someone wrote in and said their car got towed first day.

• 15:37Speaker 02

  I told you.

• 15:38Speaker 00

You shouldn't play in a clear way. You shouldn't play in a clear way.

• 15:40Speaker 02

I told you it's a high stakes game. I'm not, okay? We can't underwrite recklessness.

• 15:45Speaker 00

Well, that was, that's what I was going to suggest. Do we put a portion or even all of it against everyone playing the game? And if you lose the game, just to encourage, you know, encourage people to get into grassroots football, you know, they put on clinics where they, you know, you get better.

• 16:00Speaker 02

  We give people scholarships.

• 16:01Speaker 00

Yeah, we would then pay for everyone's fine.

• 16:06Speaker 02

A hundred, a hundred grand parking tickets.

• 16:08Speaker 00

  That's good.

• 16:08Speaker 02

  I got a, I got a few more.

• 16:09Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 16:10Speaker 02

We do a pub crawl to old mates.

• 16:13Speaker 00

  Oh, that's good.

• 16:15Speaker 02

Cheapest available tickets. Now, obviously, back when it was 140, that's more flights we could buy, but I mean, like, the worst, worst, worst seats to New York City, but we will fly you there. You might be on, you might be going through Shenzhen or something like you're going the wrong way around the world.

• 16:29Speaker 00

  That's fun.

• 16:31Speaker 02

But we get you to New York, we'll also pay for the drinks.

• 16:35Speaker 00

  Really like that idea.

• 16:36Speaker 02

And I'm not saying we funnel the money to ourselves through old mates to pay for the drinks. Like, we will just, that's extra. We'll put the drinks on.

• 16:43Speaker 00

  I really like.

• 16:44Speaker 03

  Loved that. Pub crawl.

• 16:46Speaker 00

Hmm. I wonder if you, if you found the cheapest flights available, I wonder how many stops that would be? Cause often it's a reroute.

• 16:54Speaker 02

  It's a lot. That's what I'm saying. Like, you're, you're going, you're definitely going.

• 16:57Speaker 00

  Have a beer.

• 16:59Speaker 03

What stage can you buy a private A380?

• 17:02Speaker 00

  Not a, not a plane.

• 17:04Speaker 02

  Like charter one.

• 17:04Speaker 00

Charter one. Probably more than that.

• 17:07Speaker 02

Cause remember when we char, remember we chartered that tiny plane for cool boys in the front, man?

• 17:11Speaker 03

  How much was that?

• 17:12Speaker 02

It was, it was like 25 grand.

• 17:15Speaker 00

Yeah, I think it's 15 grand an hour, per hour in the air for a tiny jet.

• 17:20Speaker 02

Tiny one, for a tiny one. And we're talking about, like, we're going to fly, we, cause how many could we fly for a hundred grand? Like, can see, like, say if we could find 1500 dollar tickets or something.

• 17:29Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 17:29Speaker 02

Even 2000 dollars. We get 50 people.

• 17:31Speaker 03

If I could talk to Mr. Ralph.

• 17:34Speaker 03

No, I couldn't, I couldn't. Take that out of the pod.

• 17:36Speaker 02

  You offered it.

• 17:36Speaker 03

Leave that out of the pod.

• 17:38Speaker 02

First time, first show back. Hang on, Andrew, don't hit the dinger. I've got one more that could be something huge. Could be something huge.

• 17:47Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 17:48Speaker 02

Or it could be nothing. We start a commercial bee operation.

• 17:54Speaker 03

  I seen like.

• 17:54Speaker 02

Start a bee farm, honey farm.

• 17:56Speaker 03

  We're kind of aprius, aprius?

• 17:58Speaker 02

Yeah, because Jack and I were talking about it before. Jack, this was before the show, so yes, this is a recent idea. But I asked ChatGPT, how good a bee operation could I begin with a hundred thousand dollars? And it said, you're right in the sweet spot.

• 18:11Speaker 03

  No, it's always so positive.

• 18:13Speaker 02

Between hobby, between hobby and commercial operation. Now it's saying, it's like, look, you could probably do about 250 hives for a hundred thousand dollars. But it said, start at 120 to get the hang of it. I think we'd start at 120 hives. We'd have to hire a beekeeper full time.

• 18:30Speaker 03

My next door neighbour down at the beach house, he's got 140 hives.

• 18:33Speaker 02

Told you, this is how it happens.

• 18:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 18:35Speaker 02

Then, I mean, Zoe's dad's into beekeeping, but yeah, we'll see how we go. We'll run auditions for beekeepers.

• 18:42Speaker 03

This is the worst one. There's some great ideas there, but.

• 18:45Speaker 02

I hope we do this now, Jack, just despite you. You know, we're talking about a hundred thousand dollars for a grudge. Now this is my grudge. You haven't even heard the numbers, Jack.

• 18:53Speaker 03

Okay, I see it's a money making scheme, not just for everyone to get free hunting.

• 18:56Speaker 02

This is, this is, this is to reinvest. And then every year, the people will have a treat based on the profits of the honey.

• 19:02Speaker 03

Oh, well, now I'm listening. I thought you were just giving people free. We were making honey and people come and collect their jar for free.

• 19:07Speaker 02

We'll do that too. We'll give away gusto honey or whatever it's called.

• 19:10Speaker 03

Jason, my next door neighbour doesn't seem to be swimming in cash.

• 19:15Speaker 02

He's not doing it properly. I don't think he capitalised enough. Here, because here's what you do. You rent, you can give your bees to farmers. This is, I mean, this is what I learnt this morning for cross pollination purposes. So if they have an almond farm or something, you rent out the bees because they need the bees to make the trees work. But also, if we get into the high end crops, and we're talking manuka. This is actually how the conversation started because I was telling Jack about manuka honey, about how expensive it is. And then he was like, are they manukin bees? I said, no, it's the plant, dickhead.

• 19:50Speaker 03

He already told somebody else that and they thought, oh, maybe manuka bees is a thing. No, a manuka tree is some odd random tree from New Zealand. That's not known knowledge.

• 20:03Speaker 02

So the bees, the bees go on the tree, yeah, and they're just regular bees. They're just harvesting pollen.

• 20:09Speaker 03

Buy and plant a whole forest of manuka trees.

• 20:11Speaker 02

No, you just, you just put the hives near the manuka trees. They fly, the bees do the work. Well, you find out where the trees are and the bees do the work and they fly to the manuka tree.

• 20:18Speaker 03

Travel the hives to a certain tree.

• 20:21Speaker 02

Guys, I've only done one chat. You've had your search on it, but listen to the money that you can make. We're getting in the high end honey market. Okay. We're getting to the high end honey market. We are making from that initial hundred grand investment upwards, that chat reckons 200 grand a year we can be turning.

• 20:38Speaker 00

We've got a better chance with hairdressers at airport.

• 20:44Speaker 02

Mate, we got, we got lucky. We got lucky with the Bitcoin bounce. What's another industry we can then reinvest in that's almost a surefire hit? High end honey.

• 20:54Speaker 03

It's on the list. So are we doing all the beekeeping ourselves? Are we in the suits or do we hire a beekeeper?

• 21:00Speaker 02

We hire a beekeeper for cut of the profits. Are we in the suits?

• 21:05Speaker 03

  It's on the list.

• 21:06Speaker 02

It's 120 hives, Jack. It's gonna be a pretty big job.

• 21:10Speaker 02

I mean, I forgot that I had robot shoes. I can't keep track of 100 million bees.

• 21:19Speaker 00

Hey, over the government mandated break, I did a fair bit of the Australian Open.

• 21:24Speaker 02

  You did.

• 21:25Speaker 00

And went to the men's final.

• 21:27Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 21:28Speaker 00

In those fancy seats that are courtside, there was Joel Edgerton, Hollywood star, Liam Hemsworth, Hollywood star.

• 21:36Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 21:36Speaker 00

And soon to be Hollywood star, Dave Lawson, who you may know, the actor from Utopia, very funny man. Also in the Toyota Rads, about 40, the original ones, Ryan Sheldon.

• 21:45Speaker 02

The OG, which has still got Hollywood a buzz and he is fielding offers, waiting for the right thing.

• 21:51Speaker 00

So I was texting Dave going, nice seats. He said, yeah. He said, I'm chatting to Liam Hemsworth. He thinks he could hit a tennis ball out through the roof at Rod Laver Arena.

• 22:02Speaker 02

See that you've never, we've never seen it happen, to my knowledge, at the Australian Open.

• 22:07Speaker 00

No, but they're trying. No, but even come wayward off a, off a swing, you've never seen it.

• 22:12Speaker 06

  Yeah, I know, but that's.

• 22:13Speaker 02

That would be a bad shot. Usually, I mean, they have the line sensing technology because it comes down to millimetres. Very rarely is someone 200 metres out. Like accidentally aim the wrong spot. But yeah, I, yeah, you're not going to get it off a deflection or an edge. You'd someone would have to be going for it. I always would have thought someone might have won the game.

• 22:32Speaker 00

  Hmm.

• 22:33Speaker 02

  And in celebration.

• 22:35Speaker 00

Oh, they do that. They, they do hit the ball out to the crowd.

• 22:39Speaker 02

That's what I mean. But it like, wouldn't it be fun to hit it out of the arena?

• 22:42Speaker 00

It's, the crowd get excited that they could have a bit of memorabilia and tribute and just to hit it out onto the roof.

• 22:48Speaker 02

Power move, what a power move. Get you up to the top deck. You guys want this? Sorry, too strong.

• 22:54Speaker 00

So when, when Dave told me that, I'm sitting in, in Rod Laver and obviously great game with Alcaraz and Jockeys, but I couldn't.

• 23:03Speaker 02

Yeah, good to see that Hemsworth's deeply involved in the game. He's just sitting there wondering what skill things he could do.

• 23:08Speaker 00

But I, I couldn't help drifting to more like, when are these guys going to get off and someone have a go at trying to hit the ball? That seemed like a more exciting event. We've seen tennis matches before. We've seen open finals. No, I've never seen anyone attempt it.

• 23:23Speaker 02

Is tennis the only big sport that has breaks where they, where they don't do something fun in the break? Because at the footy, you've got half time entertainment.

• 23:31Speaker 00

  That's right, yeah.

• 23:32Speaker 02

Like cricket, basketball, everyone's got something fun that happens in the break. Tennis doesn't have anything fun that happens in the breaks.

• 23:39Speaker 00

This could be it. Well, to join us to talk about it and really get it from the horse's mouth, um, soon to be Hollywood star, Dave Lawson. Welcome, mate.

• 23:46Speaker 07

  Ahoy.

• 23:46Speaker 00

Ahoy, ahoy, boys. Hi, Dave. Ahoy.

• 23:48Speaker 07

Yeah, I'm doing, I'm doing well. Um, just listen, everything there you said is absolutely true.

• 23:53Speaker 00

So how adamant was Liam? How, how adamant was Liam Hemsworth?

• 23:58Speaker 07

Uh, well, I, I didn't think it could happen. I thought there's no chance you could get a ball. I just don't think the ball can reach the velocity needed to exit the stadium.

• 24:05Speaker 02

  I think it's too light.

• 24:07Speaker 07

Yeah, too light. And I think it's deceptively high. Cause I was there with my wife and Sarah was looking at the seagulls and was using that as a scale for height.

• 24:14Speaker 00

  Mm hmm.

• 24:15Speaker 07

Yeah. And she reckoned it could be done. Uh, and Liam said 150% he reckoned he could knock it through the roof.

• 24:21Speaker 00

  150%.

• 24:23Speaker 07

  So just.

• 24:23Speaker 00

150%. So just quickly clarify, David, was, was it you or Sarah that got the tickets courtside?

• 24:31Speaker 07

Now, I don't know exactly how they came to us.

• 24:33Speaker 02

  Never met him.

• 24:34Speaker 07

It could have been my wife.

• 24:36Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 24:36Speaker 07

I might have been sitting in the seat that said plus one.

• 24:38Speaker 02

  Yeah, right.

• 24:39Speaker 00

For people who don't know, Dave was married to Sarah Snook, uh, obviously amazing actress.

• 24:43Speaker 02

  And she's married to him.

• 24:46Speaker 02

And it goes both ways. It's a two-way marriage.

• 24:49Speaker 00

  It goes both ways.

• 24:52Speaker 07

  She's aware of it.

• 24:54Speaker 02

I, yes, she, so she had to be involved. She had, she walked into this deal with her eyes open.

• 24:59Speaker 00

  He was there.

• 25:00Speaker 02

I like to think that we're the show, that if you say something and we hear about it, yeah, we'll hold you to it. Now, hearing that he was a hundred and fifty percent. I just had a quick Google of the top of Rod Laverina. It is high.

• 25:15Speaker 00

Well, is it? Cause I also did this research this morning. Thirty meters. Now, that's high. Roughly ten-story building. No, but aren't you deeper in the middle at Centre Court? No, that this is from the bottom of Centre Court to the ceiling. Now, you'd probably need an extra two and a half, I would say, to pierce the roof and get it on top of, pierce the ceiling and get it on to the roof.

• 25:37Speaker 02

That's true. What did he say, Dave? Did he say I could hit it out of this stadium, which is a heftier hit? Or did he just say?

• 25:44Speaker 07

The conversation was hit it, hit it out of the roof. Yeah, hit it out of the roof. And I would, I don't think it can even touch the roof. Even if the roof was closed, I think we'd, even the, the hardest hitter in the world, if you got Djokovic, I reckon even he'd struggle. I just don't think the physics works.

• 25:58Speaker 02

I, cause it's such a different thing. Hitting, hit it out and it stays out. I don't want to just see someone hit it up high enough and ask that ground level, go, oh, that looked like it, you know, cleared the roof.

• 26:09Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 26:09Speaker 02

I don't want to see that ball again.

• 26:11Speaker 07

  Yeah. Yeah, onto Olympic Boulevard.

• 26:13Speaker 02

Yeah, unless it's walking out the front and finding it.

• 26:15Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 26:17Speaker 00

That's, well, I mean, have you seen Hemsworth play tennis?

• 26:21Speaker 07

I haven't seen it yet. I mean, one of them, Hemsworth is four, so I reckon they've got the, the, the strength in the family to.

• 26:29Speaker 00

Well, there's two questions to this that, that I'm intrigued by now is can Liam Hemsworth do it or can anyone do it? Now I think.

• 26:37Speaker 02

I'm only interested in Hemsworth. I think that 150% is what did it for me. Just to go, okay, there's a man out there walking around. He says 150% he could do something we've never seen any human do. We want to see that.

• 26:50Speaker 00

Yeah, we do want to see that.

• 26:51Speaker 02

  We want to see that.

• 26:52Speaker 00

Really invest time. And money, I mean, we've just talked about having a hundred grand from a Bitcoin we discovered again. What would the fee be, do you reckon, to get Hemsworth to come? Would he do it in kind?

• 27:05Speaker 02

I'm not spending a cent of Bitcoin money on this. This is for, this, what this will do to his stock price, which is already very high. This would put him on another level.

• 27:15Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 27:16Speaker 00

What if, what if he gets, like, he can get a 10 grand appearance free if he hits it out. If he doesn't, maybe he.

• 27:22Speaker 02

Why would you give him $10,000?

• 27:23Speaker 00

Maybe he pays us 10 grand.

• 27:25Speaker 02

Oh, okay. Then I was like, this doesn't sound like Jack at all. Now it does.

• 27:31Speaker 02

So essentially, would you like to take a $10,000 bet that you can hit it out of the arena?

• 27:36Speaker 00

Okay. Well, this is great. Okay. Well, we'll work towards reaching out to his people, Dave. Would you be available to come along?

• 27:43Speaker 02

Yeah, we need you there, Dave.

• 27:45Speaker 07

I, um, I only know him as the guy who sat next to at the tennis. So that I didn't exchange numbers. I could slide into his DMs, maybe. But that's about as, if you can do better than that.

• 27:56Speaker 02

Yeah, we're happy to try that.

• 27:57Speaker 07

I would love to be, I'd love to be there to see it happen.

• 27:59Speaker 02

Oh, do you know, do you know where he's based? I mean, he's probably based in Hollywood. I mean, he's a very, very accomplished man.

• 28:03Speaker 07

I, I would check Hollywood first. I would go to, oh, actually, you know what? I think there was talk of Byron potentially as well.

• 28:09Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 28:09Speaker 07

Or Phillip Island as well. I'd check those three spots first before.

• 28:13Speaker 02

Yep. Well, I mean, there's, there's the Hemsworth villa.

• 28:17Speaker 00

  Compound.

• 28:17Speaker 02

In Byron, that he would be.

• 28:19Speaker 00

  He'd be welcome to.

• 28:20Speaker 02

  I would assume.

• 28:20Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 28:21Speaker 02

  He, I mean, he.

• 28:22Speaker 07

But then they grew up in Phillip Island, didn't they?

• 28:24Speaker 00

They grew up in Phillip Island, yeah.

• 28:25Speaker 02

Yeah. You know, I'm a big fan of the Hemsworths and you don't, you know, and I, you don't want to get involved in the family politics, but I think it would be a fair thing to say that, you know, people be like, oh, well, Chris, you know, he's the, he's the most notorious one. But then the other Hemsworth boys have done great stuff.

• 28:40Speaker 00

  Notorious?

• 28:41Speaker 02

  Well, like the most well-known.

• 28:42Speaker 00

  Yeah, yeah.

• 28:43Speaker 02

  Hemsworth.

• 28:43Speaker 00

Notorious sounds like he robbed banks back in the day.

• 28:47Speaker 02

We don't know everything he's done. But I think the appeal here to Liam, now you're not going to say this to us publicly because he's going to go, look, I don't care, I'm very proud of my brother, I'm proud of myself, we've both had great careers, but I think deep down, this would appeal to Liam to go, this will be the thing that makes me the premium Hemsworth. Oh, this is making the most prominent Hemsworth. This is, this, no longer will people be like, oh, you know, you touched your brother's hammer, like, does he show it to you? You know, more questions about that. Now he'll be going, Chris is going to be getting, every time someone stops him, they're going to be going, mate, did you see the bloody, did you see Liam hit the ball out of the Rod Laver? That's right. That becomes then the biggest Hemsworth news. Yes, the Hemsworth worth skyrocketing. As quickly as a ball can go through a ceiling of a Rod Laver arena.

• 29:32Speaker 02

What if this spreads throughout the Hemsworth brothers and they're like, we're only doing it if we can all have a go and whoever gets it out is the premium Hemsworth. Yeah, we'd take them all. We'd take that. Yeah, a bit of prairie competition might inspire them for a bit of extra oomph. All right. And Jack, if all three of them miss, that's 30 grand in our back pocket. Something we're running a high stakes carnival game.

• 29:53Speaker 00

Dave, thank you so much for joining us. We'll get on to tracking down where Liam is.

• 29:57Speaker 02

Jesus, what a start to the year.

• 29:59Speaker 00

  We'll check those three spots.

• 30:01Speaker 02

Talk about a to-do list, we're chasing one or all of the Hemsworth boys to hit a tennis ball out of the roof. We've got a beef farm that's, looks like it's going to get up and running. This is a huge 2026.

• 30:13Speaker 00

  Thanks, Dave, we'll chat soon.

• 30:15Speaker 02

  Welcome back, boys. Thanks, mate.

• 30:24Speaker 00

Hame, just because we're forced to stop working during the government mandated podcast break, doesn't mean that the emails don't keep flowing in.

• 30:33Speaker 02

  Appreciate it.

• 30:34Speaker 00

Like honey. HameShenney.com, 50% of the emails fall on your side of the fence, 50% come to mine.

• 30:39Speaker 02

Did everyone, did you just zoom past when I said they float in like honey? Or because they have been floating. Scenting honey who was being insisted with all. If they floated like a bee, that would be a reference to the honey, but. No, they flowed in.

• 30:53Speaker 00

  But honey flows so slowly.

• 30:56Speaker 02

Yeah, honey. Not at our farms, mate.

• 30:58Speaker 00

Oh, so it's, oh, it's wet honey. The running honey.

• 31:01Speaker 02

  What do you mean?

• 31:02Speaker 00

  Too runny.

• 31:03Speaker 02

There's so much of it, it's, it's the perfect viscosity.

• 31:06Speaker 00

It's still going to flow slowly.

• 31:08Speaker 02

Not when there's heaps of it, mate. Worried about you joining this bee operation, Jack, because you don't know much about honey.

• 31:16Speaker 00

But people, people obviously want to remain powerful.

• 31:21Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 31:21Speaker 00

And power moves keep coming in. We do pride. We do pride ourselves on being the number one show to listen to if you want to get a social advantage. And it's through power moves.

• 31:34Speaker 02

Are you sure to put a sting in the tail of any social interaction?

• 31:42Speaker 00

Certainly will. This one's from Nick. Nick, power moves for you boys.

• 31:48Speaker 00

On the day before a friend's wedding. Okay, so you could use this.

• 31:51Speaker 02

  Yeah, this is great.

• 31:52Speaker 00

On the day before a friend's wedding that you're attending, text the wife of, text the wife or groom and simply say, hey, after just what's happened, are we still on for tomorrow?

• 32:04Speaker 02

Good. Yes. After what happened to the Bucks, are we, are we all good? And this comes in from Andrew Donaldson. I'm assuming here he, someone's got a small business or he's a tradie. He says, power move for everyone that's watched Harry Potter. And then in brackets, he said, which is everyone?

• 32:23Speaker 00

Well, not us, but Pat Cummins.

• 32:25Speaker 02

  We haven't, we've learned.

• 32:27Speaker 00

  Loves it.

• 32:28Speaker 02

We learnt over the break, Jack, yeah, when we did Quizmas, the supplementary podcast on Amish and Andy plus plus. But one of the quiz questions came up was Harry Potter based and we can phone a friend and straight away. I was like, oh, Patty Cummins, Australian Test cricket captain.

• 32:43Speaker 00

Couldn't believe it. And he got it straight away.

• 32:45Speaker 02

He's got it straight away. He laughed. He said, this is not a quiz. This is just common knowledge. Not at all. It was about Severus Snape.

• 32:52Speaker 00

Have you not watched it yet? Cause aren't your kids into Harry Potter? You've still not watched any?

• 32:57Speaker 02

Haven't watched any. We did four books and then paid it out.

• 33:00Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 33:01Speaker 02

So it might be a, might be a family trait.

• 33:05Speaker 00

  Four books, no movies.

• 33:06Speaker 02

  Four books, no movies.

• 33:06Speaker 00

  Watch the movies. Nah.

• 33:09Speaker 02

There's so many movies to watch. Look, I'm not saying no, but you know, to give you an idea.

• 33:16Speaker 02

You know, the last movie we watched as a family was Napoleon Dynamite. So that's where we're at.

• 33:22Speaker 00

  Oh, okay.

• 33:23Speaker 02

But we could get there. Anyway, power moves for everyone that's watched Harry Potter. Andrew loves it. He goes, my apprentice did something good today and I congratulated him by saying, so you can tell us if this works, Jack. My apprentice did something good today. I congratulated him by saying, well done, mate. 10 points to Hufflepuff. Obviously, everyone knows that Hufflepuff is the lamest, is it good?

• 33:42Speaker 00

  Yeah, that's good.

• 33:42Speaker 02

  It's the lamest house.

• 33:46Speaker 02

You're saying to your apprentice, you're part of Hufflepuff, so I give you 10 points to Hufflepuff.

• 33:52Speaker 00

  It's the forgettable house.

• 33:54Speaker 02

  Right.

• 33:55Speaker 00

  Nothing, nothing exciting about it.

• 33:57Speaker 02

Nice zing, I mean. So it's a good Harry Potter burn. You don't have to be a fan of it to appreciate the power of it.

• 34:02Speaker 00

This comes from Jordan. Ahoi, boys. Got a power move for you. It's absolutely flattened me. So I tried to call my mate a few weeks ago. Proper mate, too. Grew up together, still catch up once a month. My mum asks about him with his first name.

• 34:18Speaker 02

  Well, that's a big, that's a big mate, yeah.

• 34:20Speaker 00

Anyway, the phone rings twice when I go to call him. It goes straight to message bank. Before I could even hang up, a text comes through with an automated online booking system link to me, asking to book a time to call him. This is a book I've known since year seven. I'm now standing there scrolling his mostly empty calendar, trying to lock in a five minute chat.

• 34:44Speaker 02

This is good. I think that's really good. Mate, that's something, that's something that if I sent that to Zoe, it would be a joke. And if she's sent it to me, it would be for real.

• 34:55Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 34:55Speaker 02

Yeah, because I still haven't cracked, when is the best time to talk to my wife?

• 35:03Speaker 02

Always does seem to be not the ideal time. So I wouldn't, I might get that off you, that scheduling system, just to be like, hey, love to talk to you about this year's Christmas. I know it's only, I know it's only March, but yeah. You've got five minutes.

• 35:19Speaker 02

If we can catch up in September, I'd love to log it in. And this comes in from Callum. Gusto to all. Gusto to you, Callum. Power move works in any setting when you're borrowing someone's pants, board shorts, dresses, skirts, et cetera. Works best in front of them. You might notice for people that know much about clothing, those are things I mentioned there. A lot of those cover the lower half of the body.

• 35:43Speaker 00

  Yes.

• 35:43Speaker 02

When trying on your friend's clothes, fart in them.

• 35:48Speaker 02

This immediately asserts dominance by marking territory. It also, it said, this is for you, Jack, is likely that they might be pretty, pretty disgusted by it. And they might allow you to keep them. You try them on in front of the person. Yeah. So, oh mate, those are good board shorts. Do you mind if I try them on?

• 36:08Speaker 02

And then would you, Jack, if someone farted in, in board shorts in front of you, would you let them keep them? I would ask them to wash them and return them. Oh, okay. So there is, they can be, it can be resisted. Pretty good move. Not a bad move, not a bad move.

• 36:25Speaker 00

  From Arista.

• 36:28Speaker 00

I think this is my favorite today. Hoi, boys. I think my grandma recently power moved me. I'm not sure, so I'd appreciate your take on it. For context, she's 99 years old.

• 36:42Speaker 02

  Power move in itself.

• 36:43Speaker 00

But fully mentally alert. We can't blame her being senile on this thing. She's just got a bit of sass. On my recent trip overseas, I bought her a bracelet. When I returned home, I gave it to her and explained that it was a gift for her. She took a look at it and handed it straight back to me and said, I'm giving you this bracelet to remember me by.

• 37:11Speaker 02

That is good. Thank God. I'd love to do that with a lot of presents.

• 37:17Speaker 02

Such a great move. In one fell swoop, you look like a hero and you've deep flooded. It's the dream.

• 37:29Speaker 00

Pain being a big show back. And we've left the biggest news for the last, actually. Web Gator Jazz, come on in here.

• 37:39Speaker 00

We've obviously dropped a lot of excitement today.

• 37:41Speaker 02

People will be going, oh my God, you've, you've lost the password again. Really lost it. He took our suggestion earlier in this show series. He's like, guys, I heard what you said. I changed the password. I burnt it.

• 37:57Speaker 02

Jezza, you've got some news for everybody. Hamish and I know the news, so does Jack. But do you want to share that with us?

Um, dream job for 18 years it's been. And it feels really weird and surreal to even be contemplating sharing this out loud. It's been very strange to process the last month or so. But yeah, deciding to move on and like this has been an adventure of a lifetime and my dream job. And that's why it's been such a hard decision to make. But I feel like life's short and there's new adventures to be had. And in the spirit of starting this adventure in 2007, it's just like that same gusto is in me to try something new and scare myself and chase some dreams that I've been wanting to build for a while, but haven't had the full time and energy to be able to put into it.

• 38:49Speaker 05

  So that's, yeah, moving on.

• 38:51Speaker 02

We love it. Well, we don't love you leaving, but we love you and we love the concept. We love, we're fully back, fully back the adventure of a new chapter.

• 39:00Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 39:01Speaker 02

But it is crazy. We were like, we want to, we want to mark this moment because it's been 18 years.

• 39:06Speaker 05

  18 years. I remember still.

• 39:07Speaker 02

You're the longest serving member of the team apart from Andy Lee and Hamish.

• 39:12Speaker 05

And yeah, just me and Jack started in, yeah, 2008, 2007.

• 39:16Speaker 02

  Oh, sorry. Yep.

• 39:19Speaker 03

Jez did start a month ahead of me.

• 39:21Speaker 02

  Well done.

• 39:24Speaker 02

Always got all records at hand.

• 39:26Speaker 00

Well, we've taken some time to process this. You've been a part of the show, not just behind the scenes and bringing Hamish and Andy's digital life to the masses so they can see and also hear. But you've also been on air a lot since 2007 and so.

• 39:42Speaker 02

I think regular listeners of the show would a hundred percent, you know, there'll be so many people that remember various moments of Web Gaze Jez. Yeah, you're just part of the DNA.

• 39:52Speaker 00

And for those who may be listening to the pod for the very first time, you've missed a hell of a ride with Jezza, but we're about to catch you up.

• 40:00Speaker 06

I first met Jezzer in 2007 when he ran across St Kilda Road traffic, tapped on my window screen and said, "You're Andy from Amish and Andy, yeah? I'm keen to do web stuff for you." What a voice. And instead of getting a restraining order, we hired him. Soon, he was on a caravan of courage trip with us from Melbourne to Darwin. But we questioned his origin as far as being a Cockney chap. He didn't even know what rhyming slang was.

• 40:24Speaker 00

You're a bit of a Brit who's travelling doing the web stuff for us, mate?

• 40:27Speaker 06

  That's right. Web genius.

• 40:30Speaker 00

  Wouldn't say genius.

• 40:32Speaker 06

Mate, the other night, we said, "Give us some rhyming slang, Jezz." You'd never heard of rhyming slang, had you? Oh, yeah, well, I didn't. What do you call tomato sauce? Horse. No, dead horse. And when I said to you, "What do you call tomato sauce?", he said, "Horse ketchup."

• 40:51Speaker 06

Right, go on, lay another one off. I'll know what it means. All right.

• 40:54Speaker 00

  Frog and toad.

• 40:55Speaker 06

  Schmoed.

• 40:56Speaker 00

  No, road.

• 40:57Speaker 06

The weird thing is my brain just interprets it in a new way. I'm gonna give you some more. I think you're actually an untapped genius. Oh, thanks. At new level, new levels of rhyming slang. Big tree. Wig knee. Wig's knee. Wig knee, what is that? What is wig on a knee? It's a knee with a big wig on it.

• 41:17Speaker 06

I don't think your brain even knows what your mouth is saying.

• 41:21Speaker 06

It comes out so quickly. In 2010, Avatar had just come out in 3D, and Jezz was on the cutting edge of this technology, hoping to integrate it into the show. When he came in and said, "Oh, boys, I can fully take a picture of you 3D", we went, "That's amazing, Jezz. Why haven't we been doing that all the time on the web? But it looks like you've got your regular camera." He goes, "Just take a picture in front of you and just swivel a bit, and if we put them on top of each other, it should be fully 3D." Now, Jezz, what made you think that this could work? I Googled it and I found a website that says, it gave me a little YouTube tutorial on how to do it. And I think, yeah, that's all I did. And I think it does work. I haven't tested with the proper glasses. But do you think? So you haven't seen the 3D image in these?

• 42:06Speaker 06

No, no, but I'm just going off my judgement that it's a good thing. Do you think you can get it working? I will get it working. There's no doubt about it.

• 42:16Speaker 02

He didn't get it working. But that wasn't his biggest challenge in 2010. Jez was in charge of the merchandise for when we organised the concert for Frank Stallone, Sylvester Stallone's brother, for one night, Stallone Week.

• 42:27Speaker 06

These were the t-shirts, Jez, we wanted to give it to you. I think it's... Before we go on though, have a look at the back. Yeah, thanks for the memories. Yeah, yeah, just reading down. Oh, what, no, there's not a spallone there, is there? Come on. Tour dates, venue, date, city, 18th of the 7th. Bollocks!

• 42:47Speaker 06

Ladies and gentlemen, what you've just heard there is the penny dropping. Jeremy has made a thousand t-shirts, well, thousands of t-shirts, and the date of the concert is the 18th of the 7th.

• 42:57Speaker 02

Have we turned up a month late, Jez, or did you put the wrong month on there?

• 43:01Speaker 06

Nah, back to this past, isn't it?

• 43:04Speaker 02

  Not as exciting a film.

• 43:06Speaker 06

That's messed up, I'm really sorry. You know, I've been stressed out on this, I've been busting a boob. Jez, Jez, Jez, Jez, we can't reprint these, they just have to become collector's items. That sucks. I'm sorry.

• 43:20Speaker 02

Two years later, he'd be charged with building our own social media platform to rival Facebook. Introducing Chums Group.

• 43:28Speaker 06

There's a lot of outrage over the lack of updating on chumsgroup.com. It's my fault, I'm sorry. How many people have applied to be Chums Group members? 2,700. And how many are on the website? About 323. So where's the breakdown?

• 43:48Speaker 06

So you have to enter all the names manually? Yeah, I wanted to get as many as I could, and I only got to 323. It's a lot, though.

• 43:58Speaker 06

What's your message to all those Chums Group members out there that are eager to start enjoying the benefits of Chums Group? I do feel, sincerely, sorry, because... But you're gonna make it better? I will, yeah. How? Figure it out quickly. I'll just get, I'll look at the computer now and figure it out.

• 44:17Speaker 05

  I will.

• 44:19Speaker 02

So we learnt that we couldn't trust him with 3D images, merch or global social media platforms. And he learned he couldn't trust us with personal secrets. Like when he told us he bought a mannequin to sit in the passenger seat of his car to use in the transit lane. So we had a mate call him as a policeman.

• 44:34Speaker 08

Jeremy, I'm calling you because you've recently been observed driving with what appears to be a puppet or a mannequin in a car using the transit lane.

• 44:44Speaker 05

Wait, who says, what time did you say that?

• 44:47Speaker 08

Jeremy, we need to deal with this now. Do you understand there's serious implications and consequences as a result of so blatantly breaking the law?

• 44:57Speaker 05

I don't see it as a law break. I mean, I'm not going to argue, but I feel like it's not really one to be worried about.

• 45:08Speaker 06

They're not to have a big problems, aren't they?

• 45:11Speaker 05

I won't do it again. How about stuff on the wrist?

• 45:19Speaker 05

  Yeah, good old your constable.

• 45:24Speaker 02

He really did love maximising every opportunity that arose.

• 45:28Speaker 00

If you recall him, when we told him, I would organise a car spot for you here at work. This is a perfect example. Oh, great. Would I be allowed to live in this?

• 45:40Speaker 00

I could camp there and I wouldn't need a car and I'd just go upstairs. Yes. And we said, no, I don't think you're allowed to live in the spot. He's like, well, it's my spot. Again, I just don't think. Just plumbing sanitation. Well, he said, I'll just use the work kitchen and work chat.

• 45:58Speaker 02

But there was no longer saga than trusting Jezza with the security of our Bitcoin in 2013, only to discover this four years later.

• 46:07Speaker 00

I said to Jez, how'd you go find the password for the Bitcoin? And he went monkey or something and walked off and got himself an apple.

• 46:14Speaker 06

Well, that's not gonna go down in history as the world's best destruction. And he did get out of answering, honestly. But um, I found out today, he uh, he couldn't find the passwords. So the good news is, we still got two Bitcoins. We're riding that, continuing to ride that surgeon.

• 46:33Speaker 02

  No, no, we're not.

• 46:34Speaker 06

  We can't sell them.

• 46:35Speaker 00

  We've got to sell them.

• 46:36Speaker 06

  We can't.

• 46:36Speaker 00

Surely it's like, you've misplaced your password, reset password.

• 46:40Speaker 05

Yeah, Bitcoin don't let that happen. They, so there's only one password you can have, and once you write that down, that's, that's the only existence where it is.

• 46:51Speaker 06

So, so where'd you write that down?

• 46:52Speaker 05

On my, on my to-do list.

• 46:56Speaker 06

  Years ago?

• 46:56Speaker 05

  Years ago.

• 46:57Speaker 06

How many years ago are we talking?

• 46:58Speaker 05

Uh, I think it was like four years ago.

• 47:00Speaker 06

It was four years ago. I mean, how many goes do you get at putting a password in?

• 47:03Speaker 05

Unlimited with this one, and I've been going, I've gone at least a hundred times.

• 47:08Speaker 06

  A hundred different variations?

• 47:09Speaker 05

Yeah, just different ones that I've ever had.

• 47:11Speaker 06

Could we get a hypnotic in or something? Is there someone out there?

• 47:14Speaker 02

  That's a good idea.

• 47:15Speaker 06

  That could get.

• 47:16Speaker 02

Drag it out of your head.

• 47:17Speaker 06

We knew the password was in his brain, so tried hypnosis to get it out. Although, we learnt more about his coworkers.

• 47:24Speaker 09

  It's fun.

• 47:25Speaker 02

  It's good.

• 47:26Speaker 09

It's next to Trav. Sitting next to Trav? Hmm. And then, sometimes it annoys me.

• 47:36Speaker 09

  She laughs really bad.

• 47:38Speaker 06

  He laughs too loud?

• 47:40Speaker 09

  It's okay.

• 47:41Speaker 02

Maybe the passwords I hate Trav.

• 47:45Speaker 09

  Capital P, I saw.

• 47:47Speaker 06

  Capital P?

• 47:48Speaker 09

Capital P. Yeah, so I think I'll one, two, three, four somewhere.

• 47:53Speaker 06

  One, two, three, four?

• 47:54Speaker 02

Don't tell me it's password one, two, three, four?

• 47:57Speaker 06

  He's probably written password.

• 48:02Speaker 09

  Exclamation mark.

• 48:03Speaker 06

Oh, password one, two, three, four, exclamation.

• 48:06Speaker 09

What's happening there? You can fold it up and put it away.

• 48:12Speaker 02

So I folded it up and put it away.

• 48:16Speaker 05

  And where'd you put it?

• 48:16Speaker 02

And what was on it? But eight years later, he surprised us with some news we never thought would happen.

• 48:24Speaker 00

  He found the Bitcoin password.

• 48:26Speaker 02

  You got it?

• 48:26Speaker 00

  Oh my god.

• 48:28Speaker 05

  Oh my god.

• 48:29Speaker 02

  Jezza!

• 48:30Speaker 05

I've got, I've got, I know, it was insane.

• 48:33Speaker 02

  Do people have a Bitcoin?

• 48:35Speaker 05

  The weight off the shoulders.

• 48:36Speaker 02

What are we gonna do with this?

• 48:37Speaker 05

  You must feel so happy.

• 48:40Speaker 02

I never thought this day would come.

• 48:43Speaker 05

  I know.

• 48:44Speaker 00

And similarly, we never thought this day would come. Jezza, you've been a dream to work with and done an incredible job of bringing our digital world to life.

• 48:53Speaker 02

Jezza, we will miss you wholeheartedly and whoever gets to work with you next should count themselves extremely lucky. However, whoever that is, obviously be cautious with your Bitcoin passwords. We love you, mate.

• 49:08Speaker 05

  Oh man, that was.

• 49:10Speaker 02

  Go for it, buddy.

• 49:10Speaker 05

  Thanks.

• 49:11Speaker 02

  So good.

• 49:11Speaker 05

Great stuff, great stuff. So many moments. It's just like infinite and so many laughs that all the laughs were like off air as well. Like it's been, it's a lifetime of fun.

• 49:23Speaker 02

Well. It's been the best. Jez, you've been with us on so many adventures too, like all through Gap years and just everything.

• 49:29Speaker 00

Yeah, we only highlighted the bad points here.

• 49:32Speaker 02

I mean, I will be honest, I forgot that when we started Chums Group, it's still a very powerful social media. It was like, I've completely forgot that you had to add users manually.

• 49:40Speaker 00

Yeah, it got to about 40,000 users.

• 49:42Speaker 05

Yeah, 50, 50, yeah, yeah. And it all could have not happened as well because I didn't even get accepted for the job originally. They gave it to someone else.

• 49:50Speaker 00

  Oh, for SCA?

• 49:52Speaker 05

For SCA, yeah. And then they, that person turned it down, then I got it. So it's like, it feels like the whole thing has been happenstance.

• 50:00Speaker 00

Yeah. Well, mate, we're so proud of you. We've loved having you. Whoever gets to work with you next is gonna be very lucky. I know you're still gonna be doing some online stuff for people and like people can reach out. But tell us about anything else you might be doing.

• 50:12Speaker 05

Yeah, I'm gonna be, I'm gonna just focus on two main projects I've been working on for a little bit, but I haven't had enough time. One's a cacao drink that Jack actually likes. It's like a coffee alternative. Called Kailash.

• 50:23Speaker 02

And I had, is this what I had before Concon?

• 50:25Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah, I gave you some, yeah.

• 50:26Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 50:27Speaker 05

You didn't love it, but some people.

• 50:28Speaker 02

Well, I mean, I'm a coffee drinker because I'm, it's not for, because I was like, what I have to do is instead of coffee, but it's, it is delicious.

• 50:35Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 50:35Speaker 00

  What's it called?

• 50:35Speaker 05

I'll give you that. It's called Kailash, Kakao.

• 50:37Speaker 00

How do people find that one?

• 50:38Speaker 05

Kailashkakao.com and it's like an adaptogenic healthy coffee alternative.

• 50:42Speaker 00

Yeah. For people who don't drink coffee, it's so good.

• 50:45Speaker 02

  I love it.

• 50:46Speaker 05

Thanks, Jack. And then my homecoming podcast, which is just about spiritual journey and finding unity under the skin amongst us all. And mate, and all the spiritual stuff without the woo woo.

• 50:56Speaker 00

You've been, you've been one of our best deep thinkers. Certainly taught me a bit about that.

• 51:02Speaker 05

  It's hard to say goodbye.

• 51:04Speaker 00

It's been a dream, but you'll be a part of it forever. Thanks so much.

• 51:07Speaker 05

  Thanks.

• 51:07Speaker 02

  I love you, man.

• 51:08Speaker 05

  Love you guys.

• 51:13Speaker 10

Thanks for listening. The Hamish and Andy podcast will return next week. Catch up or contribute at hamishandandy.com.
