I'm your host, H. Foley, coming at you on a beautiful day. We're out back here with Toody's and a new addition. She just got into a big fight with the deli guy at the Acme.

• 1:01Speaker 01

  Oh, no.

• 1:01H. Foley?

  She said, "Slice it thin."

• 1:03Speaker 01

  Not thin enough?

• 1:04H. Foley?

My co-host is coming at you from right next to me. He is the CEO of Are You Garbage. You get what you pay for. He is an international businessman and my best pal in the whole world and I love him. Give it up for KJ, Kevin James Ryan.

• 1:49Speaker 03

I noticed Foley's shirt is pressed today.

• 1:54H. Foley?

I've just been sleeping in it, that's all.

• 1:57H. Foley?

I lay on my back, I sit very still. Gang, he's absolutely family at this point. You know him, you love him. He is currently on the Everything is Fine Tour, and you can get tickets at salvolcano comedy dot com. November 14th, he's gonna be where?

• 2:10Speaker 03

  Chicago Theater.

• 2:11H. Foley?

  The Chicago Theater, baby.

• 2:13Speaker 03

I thought it was a question. I didn't realize it was rhetorical.

• 2:15Speaker 01

That's big time. That's as nice as it gets, the Chicago Theater.

• 2:17H. Foley?

Here's another one. December 27th, he's gonna be there in New York City at the Beacon Theater on the Upper West Side. Let's go.

• 2:25Speaker 03

  That's right, December 29th.

• 2:26H. Foley?

December 29th? Day of December 27th, that's not on me. Someone's getting fired!

• 2:30Speaker 03

  Someone's losing their goddamn head.

• 2:33H. Foley?

I think it's me. And his amazing special Terrified is now streaming on HBO Max. Do yourself a favor, give it up for the one, the only, he might come in a little al dente, but he's the big Z. Give it up for Salvolcano, everybody!

• 2:46Speaker 03

  Thank you!

• 2:47H. Foley?

  Look at him!

• 2:48Speaker 03

It's good to be back. It's good to be in the space where I'm known as the BZ.

• 2:52H. Foley?

The hair looks, it's always looked good. What's good? It looks quaffed. It looks good!

• 2:56Speaker 01

You got some color too. You're looking good.

• 2:57Speaker 03

  Whoa, guys.

• 2:58H. Foley?

Did you do plugs? What'd you do?

• 3:00Speaker 03

  No, I, this is-

• 3:00H. Foley?

  Colored?

• 3:01Speaker 03

No, I didn't color it at all. This is my hair.

• 3:03H. Foley?

  He looks good, doesn't he?

• 3:04Speaker 03

I had a bit of a quaff going. I did an air dry today.

• 3:06H. Foley?

  Ah!

• 3:07Speaker 03

And then what I did, I left the house with a hat that's somewhere around here.

• 3:10Speaker 01

It's under ya. It's under your seat.

• 3:11Speaker 03

Yeah, it's somewhere on, and then I, I just, right before, I said, you know what, let me do a natural with you guys. Cause you guys didn't have it. And so I took it off, but this is just, uh, air dry.

• 3:21H. Foley?

Back me up on this. The hat will sometimes, it's like going to get your hair done. It's perfect.

• 3:26Speaker 03

  Well, this is why-

• 3:27H. Foley?

Doesn't it come out, sometimes you put a hat on, you take it off, you're like, holy shit.

• 3:31Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 3:31Speaker 01

I'm gonna have to sit this one out, gang.

• 3:33H. Foley?

  Hey, what are you saying?

• 3:34Speaker 03

That's the technique, though. It's like, I get out of the shower, I put on a hat, I wait for it to dry within the hat, and get like matted down a little bit, and then I take it off, I put my hand through it, and I hope for the best. It's, it doesn't always work.

• 3:45Speaker 01

  Roll in the dice.

• 3:45H. Foley?

Wait a minute, hold on a second.

• 3:46Speaker 03

Like today, you thought it was quaffed and colored. That's not what I was going for.

• 3:48H. Foley?

Wait, you get out of the shower and put the hat on immediately?

• 3:51Speaker 03

Uh, well, let me tell ya-

• 3:53H. Foley?

So you're walking around naked with a hat?

• 3:54Speaker 03

No, let me tell ya. Let me tell ya. I usually don't put on a cap, a ball cap.

• 4:00H. Foley?

  Uh huh.

• 4:00Speaker 03

But I put on a scully, I put on like a wool cap.

• 4:03Speaker 01

This guy's nuts. I don't want to die.

• 4:04Speaker 03

  I swear to God.

• 4:05Speaker 01

They're doing it upside down, down there in Staten Island.

• 4:07H. Foley?

The perverted cat burg would break in.

• 4:09Speaker 03

You know when girls that get their hair done, then they sleep with a, a stocking over their head? To, to maintain, you know?

• 4:15Speaker 01

  Similar vibes.

• 4:15Speaker 03

What I don't want is frizz. Nobody does.

• 4:18H. Foley?

  No.

• 4:19Speaker 03

  And so I...

• 4:19Speaker 01

  I'd kill for frizz.

• 4:20H. Foley?

  Frizz ruined this country.

• 4:21Speaker 03

And so I put that on and I usually do it, uh, for like the first like 15.

• 4:26H. Foley?

  No kidding.

• 4:27Speaker 03

And then I take it off, then I let the air hit it.

• 4:29H. Foley?

  Huh.

• 4:29Speaker 03

And then after about another 10, I put it back on for about another 5.

• 4:33Speaker 01

  Keep it guessing.

• 4:33Speaker 03

It's not an exact science. It's not an exact science.

• 4:37H. Foley?

  Gang, welcome back to Arty.

• 4:38Speaker 03

And some days it really bites me in the ass. But a lot of times it's what, it works.

• 4:42H. Foley?

Does that not itch the top of the forehead?

• 4:44Speaker 03

You know what I do? I push it all the way back to the line.

• 4:47H. Foley?

  This guy's nuts.

• 4:48Speaker 03

So it doesn't bother my forehead at all. And the hat slams off.

• 4:53Speaker 03

  So.

• 4:54H. Foley?

  That's a baby sheep.

• 4:55Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's nice.

• 4:56Speaker 01

  That's alright.

• 4:57H. Foley?

  I'm not using mutton.

• 4:57Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 4:58H. Foley?

  Whoa.

• 4:59Speaker 01

That's classy and trashy right there.

• 5:00H. Foley?

But today you didn't do that. Today you broke out the hairdryer.

• 5:03Speaker 03

No, I didn't. I let it air dry. And then I was leaving the house, I was like, oh, I made a, I made a critical error here. Because it looked, it looked like I just got a new Dyson airdryer. It looked like I...

• 5:13Speaker 01

Have you tried that Dyson Airwrap? That thing's wild.

• 5:15H. Foley?

  What's that all about?

• 5:16Speaker 03

  I got it.

• 5:17Speaker 01

You got it? So you dropped the Dyson, I heard it? Very good.

• 5:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:20Speaker 01

  Very classy.

• 5:21H. Foley?

  Wait, what's the Airwrap?

• 5:22Speaker 01

Listen, cool guys are talking over here, okay?

• 5:24Speaker 03

I'm sorry. Listen, Dyson has a, a huge product line, a lot of SKUs. And they've gotten into the hair drying market.

• 5:30Speaker 01

Man, first time SKU's been dropped on a show 500 episodes, I wouldn't want anybody but Big Z to do it.

• 5:34Speaker 03

That's it. And that's what you do. And Dyson now, anything has to do with air coming in or going out.

• 5:38H. Foley?

  They got you.

• 5:39Speaker 03

They're going in the market. So I got...

• 5:42H. Foley?

  They're making fart machines now.

• 5:43Speaker 03

You know what else I did? They have a consumer Dyson and they have a professional Dyson. And I don't know if it's like just for like smoking, like just for like a, you know, like for show. But they want you to put in your information and prove that you're a hairstylist. To get that version, and I just fudged it, which probably anyone can do. And they make you think like, this is probably, it's probably pretty...

• 6:06H. Foley?

Genius. What's the name of it?

• 6:07Speaker 03

It's like 200 more than the consumer model. And I'm like, I gotta get the...

• 6:10Speaker 01

You're feeling like you're getting one over on them.

• 6:11Speaker 03

I gotta get the professional model, because I have an inch long hair that I blow dry every 6 to 8 months.

• 6:14H. Foley?

Did you make up a name for the hair salon?

• 6:17Speaker 03

I probably did. I actually, I did. I think it asked you for a business.

• 6:21H. Foley?

  Salon by Sal.

• 6:22Speaker 03

I don't remember what it was. This was years ago now. I've been doing a professional Dyson for years.

• 6:28Speaker 01

  This ain't new to me.

• 6:28Speaker 03

And I, and I remember like it accepted it and I was like, oh my God, I'm like, I have access to the professional dryer.

• 6:34Speaker 01

  That's pretty good.

• 6:35H. Foley?

  You write that off too.

• 6:37Speaker 01

I'm such a dirtbag. My wife got one and then I started using it to dry stuff around the house. The baby would like pee and I'd have to wash something and his onesies.

• 6:46H. Foley?

  What is it?

• 6:47Speaker 03

I'm sorry, because you're using, you're using efficiency and using it at its utmost functionality?

• 6:51Speaker 01

  I was doing it.

• 6:52Speaker 03

You're not a piece of garbage for that.

• 6:53Speaker 01

  I don't know.

• 6:54Speaker 03

I would say that you're smart for that.

• 6:55Speaker 01

It didn't feel, it didn't feel great if I'm being honest with you. It's 3:00 in the morning. I'm drying stuff with a hairdryer.

• 6:59H. Foley?

I use the hairdryer for everything but my hair.

• 7:02Speaker 03

  Oh, interesting.

• 7:04Speaker 01

We're talking taint, bee hole, front packet.

• 7:06Speaker 03

Let me talk to you here.

• 7:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:07Speaker 03

You should look into a diffuser.

• 7:10H. Foley?

Huh. For the hair or for the?

• 7:11Speaker 03

  For your body.

• 7:12H. Foley?

  No kidding?

• 7:13Speaker 03

Yeah, because well, at least with the Dyson, if you're on the highest setting of power and the highest setting of heat, you're gonna wanna be careful around the important parts.

• 7:20H. Foley?

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

• 7:22Speaker 03

What a diffuser does is it doesn't come out like a, like a wind turbine. You know, it just comes out diffused. So it's like, um, it's like the heat is in the air.

• 7:31Speaker 01

Are you working for Dyson or something?

• 7:33H. Foley?

What have you been doing for the last, it's crazy.

• 7:34Speaker 03

I should, I should. No, diffuser is not strict to Dyson.

• 7:40Speaker 01

  Most air.

• 7:41H. Foley?

  That's an industry term.

• 7:41Speaker 03

I'd like that stricken from the record.

• 7:43H. Foley?

And that can be bought by the layman as well. Not just professionals like me at Sal, at Hair by Sal.

• 7:49Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 7:51Speaker 01

  Designed by Sal.

• 7:52H. Foley?

  Designed by Sal.

• 7:53Speaker 03

But you've got a great thing going right now too.

• 7:55H. Foley?

  Thank you.

• 7:55Speaker 03

Everything's falling in line. The length is nice.

• 7:57H. Foley?

  Thank you.

• 7:58Speaker 03

And you've got a thing where it looks slick, but not in a greasy way.

• 8:02H. Foley?

Thank you. That's the, uh, crew forming cream.

• 8:04Speaker 03

Oh, crew, yeah, the crew, yeah.

• 8:06H. Foley?

What do you put in there?

• 8:07Speaker 03

I, I, uh, virtue, not the signal, but, um, I, I went out, the last time I did like a photo shoot or whatever, the lady had this one that really, um, It looked natural even though it was in the hair. It gave me body bounce and volume, but you couldn't tell I had product in.

• 8:23H. Foley?

Body bounce and volume, that's what everybody really wants.

• 8:26Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 8:26H. Foley?

  Not bad.

• 8:27Speaker 03

But that's not in it today. Because if I don't put it in when it's just on its last leg of dampness, then it's also a travesty what happens with the dry hair and the virgin.

• 8:36H. Foley?

I got you. There really is an art to it. There really is a science and an art to it.

• 8:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 8:40H. Foley?

  Um, yeah.

• 8:42Speaker 03

Yeah. We came in hot and swinging.

• 8:43H. Foley?

We came in hot and swinging.

• 8:44Speaker 03

Hot topics, right off the bat.

• 8:46H. Foley?

  That's how we do it.

• 8:47Speaker 01

Also classy guy wearing the merch.

• 8:49H. Foley?

  Of course.

• 8:49Speaker 01

Look at him, wearing the merch, classy guy.

• 8:51H. Foley?

Pay retail for that thing and ask.

• 8:53Speaker 01

I try to do that with you. I saw you do it and then I, I tried, you gotta pay back. It's a nice gesture.

• 8:58Speaker 03

Well, I've always been so, so humbled and appreciative that you have some of my shirts.

• 9:03Speaker 01

  I buy everybody's. Just, it's, it's nice. It's nice.

• 9:06Speaker 03

And I sat down and said, I gotta, I, I, one day I remember, I was like, it hit me, I was like, I gotta buy some, some merch from some of my buddies that, you know, I'm a fan of and all that stuff and wear it and rock it. So this is not just for you. I've worn this on Jokers.

• 9:17H. Foley?

  You have.

• 9:18Speaker 01

I have, yes. People send us the shots of it, yeah.

• 9:20Speaker 03

  You know, I've worn it.

• 9:21Speaker 01

I do have to say, I got stopped when I was wearing the God Bless Your, which I love. I love the t-shirts that you use on that. Very classy. Not cutting corners around that. Very classy.

• 9:30H. Foley?

That, you got about two washes.

• 9:33Speaker 01

  All sales final.

• 9:34Speaker 03

  It's done me well.

• 9:36Speaker 01

I, I was wearing it. This is how cool this guy is. I don't know if I ever told you this. I was wearing it. I was at a UFC event and some guy, he was like, hey.

• 9:43H. Foley?

  You were fighting?

• 9:45Speaker 01

There's a lot you don't know about me.

• 9:47H. Foley?

Thought we were doing well. You're in the ring, your shirt's tied in a half knot at your belly.

• 9:52Speaker 01

  I'm the card girl.

• 9:54H. Foley?

Getting this shipping out of you by Ronda Rousey?

• 9:56Speaker 03

I mean, we, we would get beat by her, right?

• 9:58Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 9:59Speaker 03

But there's no, there's no doubt, right?

• 10:00Speaker 01

Not even close. I'm not one of those guys to be like.

• 10:03Speaker 03

Is there any doubt at all?

• 10:04Speaker 01

  No.

• 10:05Speaker 03

Okay, 100 out of 100 times?

• 10:07Speaker 01

I mean, maybe, no, maybe if I like got her in the spleen or something and she, you know.

• 10:12H. Foley?

You don't even know where that is.

• 10:13Speaker 01

No, I'm saying it'd be pure luck.

• 10:14Speaker 03

I swear to god, tell me to point to it.

• 10:16H. Foley?

Yeah, where's this, where's your spleen?

• 10:17Speaker 01

I'm not saying I'd be going for it. I'm just saying if I, I land a kidney shot and she drops, maybe then.

• 10:23Speaker 03

  Okay, alright.

• 10:23H. Foley?

  You don't have a brain.

• 10:24Speaker 03

  So you're saying there's a chance?

• 10:26H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 10:26Speaker 01

  That's with anybody.

• 10:27H. Foley?

I'd get beat up by the girl from Queen's Gambit. I got no shot.

• 10:31Speaker 01

You'd pay to have that happen.

• 10:34Speaker 03

  That's a good pull.

• 10:35H. Foley?

She was, she was great in Weapons. No, that's, I'm thinking of the other one. Nah, nevermind.

• 10:39Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 10:39H. Foley?

I'm thinking of the other girl.

• 10:40Speaker 01

Hey, IMDb, zip it, will ya?

• 10:42Speaker 03

I know who you're thinking of, babe. You're thinking of the girl from Ozarks.

• 10:46H. Foley?

  Yes.

• 10:47Speaker 03

  She was in Weapons.

• 10:48H. Foley?

  Ooh, that was a movie.

• 10:49Speaker 03

Yeah, it was a movie and a half.

• 10:50H. Foley?

That was a movie and a half.

• 10:51Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 10:52H. Foley?

How do they not all like that?

• 10:53Speaker 03

You wanna give nothing away, but the villain, I mean...

• 10:56H. Foley?

  Oh my god.

• 10:57Speaker 03

I mean, number one in a long time. I, I haven't seen anyone play a role like that.

• 11:00H. Foley?

Field of Dreams. That's, that's where I first saw her.

• 11:02Speaker 03

  Uncle Buck.

• 11:03H. Foley?

  Uncle Buck.

• 11:04Speaker 03

  She's Shinese Kobaloski.

• 11:05H. Foley?

  She is Shinese Kobaloski.

• 11:07Speaker 03

I mean, at this point, I'm sorry if you didn't see, they kept it out of the original, like, trailers and stuff, but if you haven't seen it now...

• 11:12H. Foley?

They did, they kept her out of it?

• 11:13Speaker 03

  Yeah, they did.

• 11:14H. Foley?

They kept the character out of it?

• 11:15Speaker 03

They didn't want to, they didn't wanna give that away.

• 11:17H. Foley?

  The writing.

• 11:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 11:18H. Foley?

  Yeah, what a home run.

• 11:20Speaker 01

  Spoiler alert.

• 11:20H. Foley?

So you're fighting for your life, go ahead.

• 11:22Speaker 01

No. Um, and, uh, some guy, some kid goes, "What, I gotta ask, what kinda shirt is that?" I said, "Oh, it's Salvacano, uh, in Practical Joker's fame."

• 11:30H. Foley?

  Mm-hmm.

• 11:31Speaker 01

Know what I mean? Uh, and I go, "Well, are you a fan?" And he's like, "No, I've only, I saw that shirt last night. John Mayer was wearing it on stage."

• 11:39H. Foley?

  What?

• 11:39Speaker 03

  Oh, nice.

• 11:41H. Foley?

  That's cool.

• 11:43Speaker 01

That's, that's the kinda crew he's rolling with.

• 11:44Speaker 03

  That's cool.

• 11:45Speaker 01

  John Mayer's wearing his merch.

• 11:46H. Foley?

Wait, John Mayer's fighting in the UFC too?

• 11:49Speaker 03

Eddie shot Jimmy Walker in the lips?

• 11:53H. Foley?

  Wait, what's that from?

• 11:53Speaker 03

  That's a pull from Delirious.

• 11:56Speaker 01

  Deep cut.

• 11:56Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 11:57Speaker 01

Man, that's, that's big Z to keep you guessing.

• 11:59Speaker 03

  I got, I grew up...

• 12:00H. Foley?

I thought you were pulling from Good Times.

• 12:01Speaker 03

Grew up on that. On, on a...

• 12:03H. Foley?

Shot Jimmy Walker in the lips? I don't remember that in Delirious.

• 12:05Speaker 03

Yeah, it's when, uh, it's when the uncle is drunk and, uh, he mixes up the story and, uh, it ends up being Eddie shot Jimmy Walker in the lips.

• 12:14H. Foley?

Nah, I missed it. I don't, I missed that. That was the first thing that I saw.

• 12:17Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 12:18H. Foley?

That was, I'll tell you the truth, that's the first comedy thing that I ever saw. I think maybe, uh, Bill Cosby himself might have been the first.

• 12:23Speaker 03

  Those were the two.

• 12:24H. Foley?

Yeah, and then the next week, it was, they were, they were on HBO.

• 12:27Speaker 03

I had him on cassette. My parents, my dad had him, I don't know, he let me watch him. He let me watch.

• 12:32H. Foley?

Yeah, there was the first time I had a sip of beer and the first time I had a fever of over a hundred and three. I don't know why they coincide together. No.

• 12:40Speaker 03

  Wait, I'm sorry.

• 12:41Speaker 01

He watched Delirious, had a drink.

• 12:43H. Foley?

My cousin, my cousin Joe, shout out to Joe Flo, was babysitting me. He had his boys over. They got delirious. They gave me a sip of beer.

• 12:51Speaker 03

  You got delirious.

• 12:52H. Foley?

I got the, and I was, I remember I was sitting there like this watching and all of a sudden I'm like, I don't feel well.

• 12:56Speaker 03

And the fever hit one oh three, that's delirious too.

• 12:58Speaker 01

  Triple delirious.

• 12:59Speaker 03

  Yeah, triple D.

• 13:00H. Foley?

Triple delirious, triple D. We'll be right back.

• 13:03Speaker 01

  More at eleven.

• 13:05Speaker 03

That's cool, yeah. Uh, thank you, John Mayer. That's very nice of you.

• 13:09H. Foley?

  Are you boys with him?

• 13:10Speaker 03

  Yeah, I know him. Yeah.

• 13:11H. Foley?

If you're sitting around hanging out with him, will you break out the guitar and do a little something?

• 13:15Speaker 03

Um, he has done that once.

• 13:21H. Foley?

  Cause he can shred.

• 13:22Speaker 03

I'm not like, um, I mean, him aren't attached to hip or anything, but I've known him for a very long time.

• 13:27H. Foley?

  Not roommate?

• 13:27Speaker 03

He reached, yeah, it was a cool story, actually. So like, um, man, I want to say this is, this has to be two thousand six, something like that.

• 13:36H. Foley?

  Alright.

• 13:36Speaker 03

And, uh, we put up a sketch on YouTube called John Mayer Concert Tee. And, uh, it was about like, Q used to wear this John Mayer concert tee and like, sometimes people would make fun of him for it. Uh, and so like, we made it, we built a sketch around that. And like, the only way that he could like redeem himself was to start a Fight Club or whatever. Anyway, John Mayer saw this.

• 13:56Speaker 01

  Pretty good.

• 13:57Speaker 03

  On YouTube.

• 13:58Speaker 01

They had it back then, too.

• 14:00H. Foley?

Two thousand six, twenty years ago.

• 14:02Speaker 03

John Mayer saw this on YouTube and, uh, and reached out and wrote us an email. Found our website, wrote us directly and said, hey, this is John Mayer. I saw the, uh, the, the tee shirt, I saw the sketch and in it, we used three of his songs or a few of his songs. And he goes, in lieu of giving me royalties for my song, I will please take one tenderloin, we were called the Tenderloins. I will take one tenderloin, tenderloin shirt, size XL, please.

• 14:31H. Foley?

  And that's the shirt?

• 14:32Speaker 01

  No.

• 14:33Speaker 03

  No, that's not the shirt.

• 14:34H. Foley?

  Oh.

• 14:36Speaker 01

Man, you really Hollywooded that up.

• 14:39Speaker 03

I said, yes, I'll send it to you in 20 years.

• 14:42H. Foley?

We'll be right back after these words from Dyson.

• 14:46Speaker 03

  Another D. Alright, so.

• 14:48Speaker 01

  One D's.

• 14:49Speaker 03

So I, we wrote back, how do we, thank you, all due respect.

• 14:53Speaker 01

  Show me proof of life.

• 14:54Speaker 03

How do we know this is you? And he did.

• 14:56Speaker 01

  Uh-uh.

• 14:56Speaker 03

He showed, he texted us back, he emailed us back a picture of him holding his tablet with a picture of us on it.

• 15:03Speaker 01

  That's pretty good.

• 15:04Speaker 03

  How cool is that guy?

• 15:05H. Foley?

Yeah, it's alright. That was 2006, that is, that is John Marist as well.

• 15:08Speaker 01

  That's primetime Mary.

• 15:09Speaker 03

He was very Mary. Yes. And, and so then we sent him a t-shirt and we kept in touch with him. Then he's like, we gotta hang out. And then he invited us out one night and we went out and I went out and got dinner with him in like LA. And then I went out and met him again in New York City. We went bar hopping and it was just really, really awesome. And then, you know, and then he was like so kind to like post some stuff for us like that promoting the show. He used to have like a blog back then and he like, it was popular and he posted about the show for us to, in between seasons one and two to help us.

• 15:42Speaker 01

  That's big.

• 15:42Speaker 03

Push the thing. And, and ever since then, I've been friends with him and he, he guest starred on our show like three years ago.

• 15:50H. Foley?

  I love it.

• 15:51Speaker 03

And, and that's when I gave him the shirt and then he, he, that son of a bitch took any award on stage.

• 15:56Speaker 01

Yeah. At like the Garden or something.

• 15:58Speaker 03

Yeah, it was a big one. I think it was Shea Stadium, maybe.

• 16:01Speaker 01

It was, yeah, it was New York. Cause I was in New York and the guy, the kids, like I saw it last night. So yeah, it was.

• 16:05Speaker 03

Yeah, he's just a really, really, really nice guy.

• 16:08H. Foley?

It wouldn't be our you garbage if we didn't ask if you remember you went out to dinner with John Mayer.

• 16:12Speaker 01

  Who picks that check up?

• 16:13H. Foley?

Who picks that check up? Who picks that check up?

• 16:15Speaker 01

  Gotta be him.

• 16:16Speaker 03

Um, I'm, I don't remember who picked it up. I'm sure he, I'm sure it was probably not even brought to the table.

• 16:22Speaker 01

He probably didn't even, somebody, yeah.

• 16:23Speaker 03

But honestly, hold a spell because I'm, I'm, I'm not, I'm the guy that will.

• 16:32Speaker 03

I mean, to my bare bones insist that I get it, so I

• 16:36H. Foley?

  We know that about you.

• 16:37Speaker 03

I think we might have usurped it and then said, hey, you owe me the next one.

• 16:43Speaker 01

Like that, like that. Now you got him in your pocket.

• 16:46Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 16:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:47H. Foley?

  Yeah, that's alright.

• 16:49Speaker 01

  Respect that.

• 16:49H. Foley?

I like, I say he's class. You see this? I'm trying to teach a young gentleman. Class right here. That's class.

• 16:57Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, he bought me, you bought me a shot before I knew you as well. Very nice.

• 17:02H. Foley?

  I remember that.

• 17:02Speaker 01

  Didn't have to do it.

• 17:03Speaker 03

I bought you a shot before I knew you.

• 17:05Speaker 01

Yeah, we met, you were by, it was, we were celebrating, so I think Joe DeRosa's birthday or something like that. Bought me a shot, I said, we did the shot, and he said, I know you from your clips online.

• 17:15Speaker 03

Yes, I admire you from afar.

• 17:16Speaker 01

I admire you from afar, I'd love to do the show. I said, you're Big Z, you can do whatever the hell you want.

• 17:21H. Foley?

I remember the first time that I met you, you said, can you please get out of my car?

• 17:29Speaker 03

  That's true.

• 17:30H. Foley?

  This is extremely awkward.

• 17:31Speaker 03

  That's true.

• 17:33H. Foley?

Gang, this episode is sponsored by BetterHelp.

• 17:35Speaker 03

Our good friends at Cash App and the Cash App card.

• 19:03Speaker 01

  Oh, wait.

• 19:04H. Foley?

You know what the Cash App card brings you? Security.

  Uh huh.

• 19:07H. Foley?

Trust. You know, there are a lot of online wild west.

• 20:20H. Foley?

  Back to the show.

• 20:20Speaker 03

No, I remember like Louis coming to me in the early days.

• 20:25H. Foley?

  Really?

• 20:26Speaker 03

Saying like, "These are good guys. We should do their pod." And that's the first time I heard of it. And I looked it up. I said, "The pod is great. I'd love to do it whenever I can." And then, yeah, I think I might have seen you as well. And I feel like we didn't know each other that well here, because otherwise I feel like we would have been hanging out that night. And I'm sure we were. Did you open for Verzi at one of his first special tapings in Levity or something like that?

• 20:50Speaker 01

  I did.

• 20:50Speaker 03

Yes, I was at that. And I remember seeing you and being like, "Oh, I didn't want to like..."

• 20:54Speaker 01

You're the guy that bombed and ruined Verzi's special.

• 20:57Speaker 03

No, you were great. And I didn't know you, so I guess I didn't say hello just yet, but...

• 21:02H. Foley?

Sure. I think when he went up to you, he said, "So who canceled?"

• 21:06Speaker 01

I was available. Very good. Speaking of Mr. Verzi, it was our previous guest.

• 21:13H. Foley?

  Yes.

• 21:14Speaker 01

One thing we asked him that we've been asking, it's a question that's come up on the show.

• 21:19Speaker 01

What is currently out, what appliances are out on the kitchen counter right now?

• 21:27H. Foley?

  This is good.

• 21:27Speaker 01

Do you have like, what's out there? You know, you got an air fryer, you got a blender, you got a juicer, you got a toaster? What are we working with?

• 21:34Speaker 03

Let me talk to you about what's actually-

• 21:36Speaker 01

And what do you put away?

• 21:37Speaker 03

Yeah, no, okay, yeah. It's all hair dryers.

• 21:40Speaker 01

  Whatever Dyson's got.

• 21:43Speaker 01

It's like a sharper image in there.

• 21:44Speaker 03

They came out with a hot pig model for breast cancer awareness, mother, I had to snag that up. Let me tell you about what's on the counter and then what's in the-

• 21:53Speaker 01

  What gets put away?

• 21:53Speaker 03

Yeah, because my wife, you know, she is like, this is not staying on this counter. She is-

• 21:59Speaker 01

Because we've been to the house, we're in tight ship.

• 22:01H. Foley?

  Beautiful.

• 22:02Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, one of the things that's been on, it's a day one item, is a Breville espresso maker.

• 22:08H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 22:09Speaker 03

Okay, and that's gonna have the grinder-

• 22:12Speaker 01

  That holds the beans.

• 22:13Speaker 03

It holds the beans, so we grind the beans fresh there.

• 22:15H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 22:16Speaker 03

It's got two ports there, and it's got the steamer in there.

• 22:19H. Foley?

It's got the steamer, you can do the milk.

• 22:20Speaker 03

It's got the steamer, you can do the milk.

• 22:21H. Foley?

Hooked up to the water line and all that stuff?

• 22:23Speaker 03

No, no, you add water, but it's fine, it's fine. I've never even seen it added. It's like it magically does it.

• 22:28H. Foley?

Now, how are you on that? Can you foam it up?

• 22:31Speaker 03

I can do it, I can. There was a brief moment in time when I was, well not, actually, no, there was a decade where I bartended, and they had a big ass one of those there, and so I was familiar.

• 22:41H. Foley?

  I love that.

• 22:42Speaker 03

And now, I really, but I'd never use it because I don't drink coffee until very, very recently. I used to only have a cappuccino after dinner at a nice restaurant.

• 22:53Speaker 01

  Real Italian.

• 22:55Speaker 03

The only time I drank. But now, in the last, I will call this- Three, three monthsish.

• 23:01H. Foley?

  Uh huh.

• 23:01Speaker 01

  Whoa.

• 23:02Speaker 03

  I've started drinking Cortados.

• 23:04Speaker 01

Ah, they're so good. They're as sweet as, sweet as could be.

• 23:08Speaker 03

  I don't add sugar.

• 23:10Speaker 01

  I don't know.

• 23:10Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 23:11H. Foley?

I don't think you know what a Cortado is.

• 23:12Speaker 01

  You're bitter.

• 23:12Speaker 03

Mine's bitter. I like a nice bitter, dark espresso roast.

• 23:16Speaker 01

  Huh.

• 23:17Speaker 03

And then they put an equal part steamed milk in there. And it's like, it's not as crazy as an espresso, but it's not as milked up as a latte.

• 23:24Speaker 01

  Sure, as a latte.

• 23:25H. Foley?

  A latte?

• 23:25Speaker 01

  A cafe latte.

• 23:26H. Foley?

  I'm with you.

• 23:27Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 23:27Speaker 01

How many of those cafe lattes have you had?

• 23:28Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 23:29H. Foley?

I also worked a very expensive espresso machine at a place I used to work at in the, in the West Village. Snack Taverna, R.I.P., shout out to it. Got very familiar with all that stuff. I would get the technique to foam the milk and then I would lose it.

• 23:43Speaker 03

  It's hard.

• 23:43H. Foley?

It was like I had the yips.

• 23:44Speaker 03

  It's not easy.

• 23:45H. Foley?

One week I could do it, the next week I couldn't.

• 23:47Speaker 03

  Yeah, the yips.

• 23:47H. Foley?

Cortado, foam and an espresso shot.

• 23:49Speaker 01

  I know.

• 23:50H. Foley?

You don't know. I'm telling you.

• 23:52Speaker 01

Okay. I don't know why you got a attitude about this. Now, question.

• 23:57Speaker 03

  That's one of the items.

• 23:58Speaker 01

That's one of the others, but let's, let's live on the espresso machine for a minute.

• 24:01Speaker 03

Yeah, and, no, and I have more for that.

• 24:03Speaker 01

Sure, um, now, you said there's a container for the bean, you dumped the beans in the top.

• 24:07Speaker 03

  Yeah, in the top, yeah.

• 24:08Speaker 01

Where are those beans living prior to being dumped in there? Are they in a glass jar? Are they in the bag?

• 24:11H. Foley?

  Great question.

• 24:12Speaker 03

  They're in the bag.

• 24:13Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 24:14Speaker 03

Uh, and the bag is, uh, three drawers down.

• 24:17H. Foley?

  Not in the freezer.

• 24:18Speaker 03

Not to be confused with three doors down.

• 24:20Speaker 01

Which caught a lot of, caught a lot of flack. I was a fan of them.

• 24:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 24:23H. Foley?

Did they have three doors down?

• 24:24Speaker 03

I forget what they say, but it might be, "It's been a while."

• 24:27Speaker 01

No, it was staying. They were, um, uh, three doors down was, um...

• 24:32H. Foley?

  "You're holding my hand."

• 24:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:35H. Foley?

  Kryptonite.

• 24:36Speaker 01

  Kri- ma, kryptonite.

• 24:38H. Foley?

Wrote that, he wrote that in high school in class. That guy, I saw, I saw the behind the music, whatever it was.

• 24:43Speaker 03

  Oh, wow.

• 24:44H. Foley?

Wrote that song at seventeen in class. And you'd be surprised how many number one hits were written by guys at the age of seventeen.

• 24:51Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 24:51H. Foley?

Yep. Give me, give me a ticket for the, an aeroplane, uh, what's it called?

• 24:55Speaker 03

Give me a... She wrote me a letter?

• 24:57H. Foley?

Yes, she wrote me a letter, written when he was seventeen.

• 24:59Speaker 03

The letter, I think it's on there.

• 25:00H. Foley?

Steve Winwood, Spencer Davis Group, wrote, "Give me, uh, give me some love," at seventeen years old.

• 25:04Speaker 03

Let me tell you, shout out Steve Winwood.

• 25:06H. Foley?

  Buddy.

• 25:06Speaker 03

  I still...

• 25:07H. Foley?

  You and me both.

• 25:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 25:08H. Foley?

Remember that comeback in the eighties?

• 25:09Speaker 03

Higher Love, Roll With It, but Higher Love right now...

• 25:12H. Foley?

  Valerie?

• 25:12Speaker 03

Right now, yes. If, if I hear the beginning drumbeat. (mimicking drum beat) (mimicking drum beat) Think about it.

• 25:19Speaker 01

Mm-hmm. I see him. Got goosebumps over here.

• 25:22Speaker 03

But, but, but confirm that I have them right this second.

• 25:25Speaker 01

  Punch in.

• 25:25Speaker 03

Confirm it. Confirm it, please. Because I get it when it plays. I really do. And I just got it when I sing.

• 25:32Speaker 01

  That's crazy.

• 25:32H. Foley?

It was a simpler time. What were you rolling around Staten Island in around that time? What do you think?

• 25:37Speaker 03

Uh, well, when I finally got my license, you mean?

• 25:39H. Foley?

  Uh huh.

• 25:39Speaker 03

In nineteen eighty, nineteen eighty-four, Silver Buick Skyhawk.

• 25:43H. Foley?

Driving around with that playing on K-Rock or something like that?

• 25:46Speaker 03

Yeah. No, they wouldn't play that on K-Rock.

• 25:49H. Foley?

  Easy listening.

• 25:49Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 25:50H. Foley?

You're really jamming up there. Is this because of the Cortado thing?

• 25:52Speaker 03

One oh six seven, please. Not ninety-two-three. No, I know where they go, you know. But no, Higher Love, I mean, it is something about it that make, literally makes me like, get in, like, just, I feel it in my bones.

• 26:03H. Foley?

I'm with you. So, Bruce Hornsby can do that to me sometimes.

• 26:07Speaker 01

I love him. I gotta love him. I love him.

• 26:10H. Foley?

  But back to the kitchen.

• 26:11Speaker 03

Yeah, so, so I got the beans out. And I also have an array of beans.

• 26:14Speaker 01

How many are we talking? Three, four beans?

• 26:16Speaker 03

Um, I would say, yeah. I would say there's at least three to four different brands down there. Um, and sometimes I'll pick one up on, on my, in my travels.

• 26:25H. Foley?

Are you getting any of these at the grocery store from the coffee bins?

• 26:29Speaker 03

  No.

• 26:29H. Foley?

  No?

• 26:30Speaker 03

No, I have not done that.

• 26:31H. Foley?

Are we, are they being delivered?

• 26:32Speaker 03

  I'm not above it.

• 26:33H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 26:34Speaker 03

Or I'm not even against it, or I, I would do it, I just haven't. No, I, some I pick, some she has her staples.

• 26:39H. Foley?

  Uh huh.

• 26:40Speaker 03

And then some, like, I'll have a coffee somewhere and be like, I gotta order that, or I'll take it back home on the road, or something. Sometimes I'm gifted something, some coffee.

• 26:48H. Foley?

Any Arabica? You have any Arabica beans?

• 26:50Speaker 03

  I believe I do. I believe I do. That's a popular bean.

• 26:52H. Foley?

  It's a very popular bean.

• 26:54Speaker 01

  My mama loves Arabica.

• 26:54H. Foley?

  Does she?

• 26:55Speaker 01

  The Arabica beans.

• 26:56Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:56H. Foley?

My mom liked Chock Full of Nuts.

• 26:58Speaker 01

  You like it bitter?

• 26:59Speaker 03

That's old school. That's my grandpa and, yeah, Chock Full of Nuts was, I, I used to have the tins. You know those?

• 27:04H. Foley?

  Sure.

• 27:04Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 27:05Speaker 03

Actually, that's something that would, I think.

• 27:07Speaker 01

  Oh, that's good.

• 27:08H. Foley?

  That would be.

• 27:10Speaker 01

  Diesel, get on that.

• 27:11H. Foley?

Any of your grandparents do the instant coffee?

• 27:14Speaker 03

  Uh, me, uh-

• 27:15H. Foley?

Like the folds of the, you know, the

• 27:16Speaker 03

  The bag-

• 27:17H. Foley?

  Tasteful choice.

• 27:18Speaker 03

The tasteful choice, and you just-

• 27:19H. Foley?

No, it was freeze dried in a jar.

• 27:21Speaker 03

  In the orange jar?

• 27:22H. Foley?

  Yes, yes, yes, yes.

• 27:23Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, they did do that.

• 27:23H. Foley?

That's alright. The Greeks, they do the frappe, which they use the instant coffee.

• 27:27Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 27:27H. Foley?

That you want, that's like jet fuel.

• 27:29Speaker 03

They did use, I haven't thought of that in forever, but yeah.

• 27:31H. Foley?

  Yeah, it's good stuff.

• 27:32Speaker 03

So this, this, this, this product, I bought this thing, this Breville machine-

• 27:36Speaker 01

  Breville's a high quality.

• 27:37H. Foley?

  Very high quality.

• 27:38Speaker 01

  Dyson Breville.

• 27:39H. Foley?

Top of the line. This top of the line, Sal.

• 27:43Speaker 03

  This was 600 dollars.

• 27:44Speaker 01

Top of the line Sal, for the good-

• 27:45H. Foley?

Top of the line Sal, this is commercial grade.

• 27:46Speaker 01

My wife's got the juicer, the Breville juicer.

• 27:48Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, this thing has stood the test of time. I've had it for a decade, it's still going like day one. I love it, and, you know, I thought it was expensive when I got it, but I know these things are kind of expensive. I didn't realize, it's a, it is expensive, but compared to what you could buy, uh, uh, these machines go-

• 28:05H. Foley?

  Oh, it's nuts.

• 28:05Speaker 01

  No, you're, you're not wrong.

• 28:06Speaker 03

There's a consumer version, and there's professional versions, but you, you wanna get, you know, jiggy with it, as, as, as Hayden Smith said, you can get, like, you could spend thousands and thousands on one of these things. Anywho, a couple of years back, I got a call from a trusted source.

• 28:24H. Foley?

We won't do any names here on the podcast, but I think you know who he is.

• 28:27Speaker 03

  Shout out to Eric Liederman.

• 28:29Speaker 01

  Shut up.

• 28:30H. Foley?

Hey, you ratted him out like that, Jesus.

• 28:31Speaker 03

He tells me that he's got-

• 28:34Speaker 01

This is crazy, dude. I love, whatever your vibes are, I'm in, dude.

• 28:39Speaker 03

You guys bring it out to me, I love it.

• 28:41H. Foley?

You were definitely twirling the phone cord when he told you this.

• 28:44Speaker 03

  I'm listening.

• 28:45Speaker 01

He's laying on his stomach, he's got his feet up in the air.

• 28:47Speaker 03

  Oh, you fucking know, bro.

• 28:48Speaker 01

  Oh, go on.

• 28:49H. Foley?

Now we gotta get a Breville.

• 28:51Speaker 01

  Are you saying Arabic beans?

• 28:53Speaker 03

Continue. You've got my attention. Um, he tells me he's got a lead on a friend and family holiday 50% off discount at Breville.

• 29:06H. Foley?

  Whoa.

• 29:07Speaker 03

Or it might have been at-

• 29:08Speaker 01

  That is a lead.

• 29:09Speaker 03

It might have been at Breville, or it might have been at, um, what's that really-

• 29:11H. Foley?

  Williams Sonoma.

• 29:12Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 29:13Speaker 01

  Bang!

• 29:14Speaker 03

Might have been at Williams Sonoma.

• 29:14H. Foley?

  Put me on the board!

• 29:15Speaker 03

I think it was Breville though, I think it was Breville.

• 29:17Speaker 01

  Take him off.

• 29:18Speaker 03

It was one of those, so-

• 29:20H. Foley?

  Big Z, you screwed me.

• 29:21Speaker 03

  So now-

• 29:21Speaker 01

  Holy Bron.

• 29:22Speaker 03

This is two years, exactly. Two years ago, Lloyd, um, so, I got a gum guy, uh-

• 29:28Speaker 01

Is it me, or is that a lot of gum?

• 29:30H. Foley?

Turns out Lloyd's phone wasn't even plugged in.

• 29:34Speaker 03

Deep cut. Gotta love Lloyd. I love Lloyd.

• 29:35H. Foley?

  Oh.

• 29:36Speaker 01

  Two Lloyds, by the way.

• 29:37H. Foley?

Two Lloyds. I liked the first one, too.

• 29:40Speaker 01

I was the second one guy.

• 29:41H. Foley?

Of course. He's a funny guy. The other guy was a good looking dude.

• 29:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:45H. Foley?

  He almost had a lane.

• 29:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:47H. Foley?

  He worked for Mayor Dinkins.

• 29:48Speaker 03

  He did.

• 29:49Speaker 01

Good job. Okay, sorry. So you got the call 50% off.

• 29:53Speaker 03

You raised the head, get blood to the feet.

• 29:54Speaker 01

  What's an extremity?

• 29:56Speaker 03

She was, I mean, that guy was, she was out of his league.

• 29:59Speaker 01

  Oh, Yankee Beans.

• 30:00Speaker 03

  Yeah, Yankee Beans.

• 30:01Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah. The writer.

• 30:02H. Foley?

Oh, yes, yes. I thought you were talking about.

• 30:04Speaker 03

If I could get his name if it was a multiple choice. I used to be better at this, but it's been a minute.

• 30:07H. Foley?

  He was famous.

• 30:08Speaker 01

  I got it.

• 30:09H. Foley?

He was famous in this thing. He was a writer.

• 30:10Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 30:13Speaker 03

  Luke, you on this?

• 30:14Speaker 01

It's one of my favorite, uh, writer, old, whatever, writer.

• 30:17Speaker 03

  You can't liquefy a cookie.

• 30:18Speaker 01

That and, no, but it was, it was the first time in a sitcom I remember a line being delivered without seeing the guy. It was the ambulance guy. They had like cut or something and he went, "Who put cookies in his mouth?" And it was like, I remember dying laughing at that. The idea that you don't get to, it's just like in the background. So funny.

• 30:35H. Foley?

  Luke, this is big go.

• 30:36Speaker 03

If you find his name, I swear to God, you can give a hundred names, I'll get it. Owen March. Owen March!

• 30:41Speaker 01

  You're that friend.

• 30:43Speaker 03

  That's it. Owen March.

• 30:44H. Foley?

  Yes, you're that friend.

• 30:45Speaker 01

The friend died, or not died, but suffered a stroke and a friend's upper west.

• 30:48Speaker 03

Friend's upper west side of porn. Yankee Bean, Yankee Bean, I love my Yankee Bean.

• 30:56Speaker 01

  Goosebumps.

• 30:59Speaker 03

Owen March is your Steve Winwood.

• 31:01Speaker 01

Yankee Beans. This is my higher love. Okay.

• 31:04H. Foley?

  Go ahead.

• 31:04Speaker 01

  So, get the call.

• 31:05Speaker 03

So my Breville's working fine, okay? But I go online, I go online because the temptation is.

• 31:11H. Foley?

Oh, this is recent. This is after you already had the Breville.

• 31:13Speaker 03

This was in the last three years.

• 31:15H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 31:16Speaker 03

So it was two Christmases ago.

• 31:18H. Foley?

  All right.

• 31:18Speaker 03

Okay. So I look and the product line, of course, has expanded. They're not sitting on their valves over there.

• 31:24H. Foley?

  They are innovating over there.

• 31:26Speaker 03

  They're innovating.

• 31:27H. Foley?

Yes, we'll be flying around on Breville's at some point.

• 31:29Speaker 03

I believe that. I believe that. They're also expanding, so.

• 31:32H. Foley?

  They are.

• 31:32Speaker 03

They're not just, forget, throw out what you think you know about Breville. So.

• 31:39Speaker 03

One thing I did notice is they hold their value.

• 31:43Speaker 01

There's a secondary market for them.

• 31:44Speaker 03

My machine, which was a decade old, was still being sold and it was still the price point I bought at that, which was very nice to see. Cause like a pair of sneakers or a car, you're off that lot. Depreciation is in caps. You know what I mean? Yeah. So I was like, all right, but I don't need a machine, but. I think, I think popular convention tells me that things are made to break and even though this has been solid, I have no reason to believe it otherwise, there might be in a year or two, this thing goes south and it goes to the, you know, it goes to the espresso graveyard.

• 32:17H. Foley?

  Of course, and 50% off.

• 32:20Speaker 03

50% is, is you, there is no higher discount unless it's a liquidation sale.

• 32:25Speaker 01

Sure. And that's not happening anytime soon with.

• 32:27H. Foley?

That's just got fire damage on it.

• 32:28Speaker 03

  That's, no, yeah, that's, yeah.

• 32:31H. Foley?

  That was a flood.

• 32:32Speaker 03

That's, that's, I mean, maybe yard sales, you're getting up to 70%, but 50% at a major consumer is like, you can't really turn your nose at that.

• 32:40H. Foley?

But you're not getting 70% on a yard sale until it's around 5 o'clock that Saturday. And they gotta get rid of everything.

• 32:45Speaker 03

I got news for you, that's why I arrived.

• 32:46H. Foley?

When the dads just had enough?

• 32:49Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 32:50H. Foley?

  Just take it.

• 32:51Speaker 03

I make an offer on every table, on the tables. I say, I'll take the tables with them.

• 32:56H. Foley?

  Tables!

• 32:57Speaker 01

Guys looking, aren't you on TV? You and John Mayer?

• 33:00Speaker 03

  Maybe I am.

• 33:04H. Foley?

I made a deal with the Kowalskis down the street for their tables. I drink your table up.

• 33:09Speaker 03

So, I started looking and, um, they got, they have models that go up to like 2,500 bucks now.

• 33:18Speaker 01

  Crazy.

• 33:19Speaker 03

Now, even at 50% off, 2,500, I'm still spending.

• 33:21Speaker 01

  It's a big swing.

• 33:22Speaker 03

1,250, I'm like, I don't need this. Cause what I have is suffice. These new ones, they're all new fangled and new dangled or whatever, and it's touchscreens. Now, I don't really love moving away from, I have analog dials.

• 33:34Speaker 01

  I'm with you.

• 33:35Speaker 03

My thing looks like an old Corvette up top.

• 33:36Speaker 01

You need like a chunk, you like the buttons.

• 33:37Speaker 03

It's got like, it's, it looks like your watch up top. Now, this one is like, touch it, touch what you want and everything. So, in a way, it, it, you know, it's nice, but in another way, it's like, I don't need that.

• 33:49H. Foley?

My dad always said, more parts, easier to break.

• 33:51Speaker 03

That's, that's right. And when you start getting electronics in those.

• 33:54H. Foley?

  Sure.

• 33:55Speaker 03

  Right?

• 33:56H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 33:57Speaker 03

So, anyway, I still can't, I still can't not get it. So, what I do is... There's a thousand dollar model. It's electronic and it's one or two models up from mine. I'm saying, I spent six on mine with a 50% discount. The thousand dollar model is 500. I'm spending less than the original. I'm getting something worth almost double the price. I put it in storage, which I pay for. I have storage.

• 34:20H. Foley?

  What?

• 34:21Speaker 03

So that's already taken care of. It's not like I have to get storage because of the machine.

• 34:24Speaker 01

Did you buy this for when the other one breaks?

• 34:26Speaker 03

  I did.

• 34:27H. Foley?

  What is wrong with you?

• 34:29Speaker 03

Is there something wrong with you?

• 34:29H. Foley?

  You're rich!

• 34:32Speaker 03

But they hold their value. I could turn around and sell this on the open market for 950. Someone's like, "I'm getting 50 dollars off." I'm making 450. And that's not gonna go away. I told you, 599.99 was my model that I bought 10 years prior.

• 34:44H. Foley?

Take it back to Breville, sell it to them.

• 34:45Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 34:46H. Foley?

So what can we help you with? What can Sal help you with?

• 34:48Speaker 03

I'll put the whole system on trial. So I was like, this is a win-win. So I bought four.

• 34:55H. Foley?

  What?

• 34:56Speaker 03

  I did. I spent $2,000 and I bought a $4,000 worth of machine.

• 35:00H. Foley?

  Why?

• 35:01Speaker 03

Well, I gave one to my friend who gave me the tip off.

• 35:03Speaker 01

He's got to wet his beak. Nah, he's got to wet his beak, that's right.

• 35:06Speaker 03

I said to him, "You know what I'm gonna do? Don't buy yours." Cause he was gonna buy it. I said, "I'm buying yours." It's just what I do.

• 35:13Speaker 01

  It's nice, very nice, sweet.

• 35:14H. Foley?

  You getting all this?

• 35:16Speaker 03

And then I bought one for me. For the day that mine breaks. By the way, it hasn't broken yet.

• 35:21H. Foley?

You're doomsday prepping on espresso machines.

• 35:24Speaker 03

And then I bought two more because I thought they'd make really outstanding gifts to the right home. And no one would ever know I got 50% off. And now you're looking like, "Well, this is..." I mean, 500 is a nice gift, but if they think I'm paying sticker price on this, this is like, maybe they asked me to be their godfather of the kid or something like that. So I got, so then I got, so I, since I've given one, I've given one as a gift.

• 35:46H. Foley?

  So one's still sitting there?

• 35:46Speaker 03

I gave one to my manager as a gift. God bless him, God love him. And then I got, I still got one in the wings.

• 35:52Speaker 01

You know, for a guy who just started drinking coffee three months ago, you're really fucking not into it.

• 35:56Speaker 03

Yeah, I know, I know. I've never told this.

• 35:58Speaker 01

He's got 30 grand worth of machinery here.

• 36:01Speaker 03

  This is an AYG exclusive.

• 36:03Speaker 01

  This is just in.

• 36:04Speaker 03

  So I have mine.

• 36:05H. Foley?

Breville's stock is shooting through the roof right now.

• 36:08Speaker 03

Yeah, by the way, can you clip this?

• 36:11Speaker 01

You wanna know why you're good?

• 36:14Speaker 01

How long have we been on the Breville machinery? This is the first part of the question to the first answer to the first question.

• 36:21Speaker 03

I'm good, baby. I'm doing this over here. It's crazy. I had something to talk to you about. You said Kitchen Count. I'm like, fucking strap in.

• 36:29H. Foley?

Let me ask you this. What happens if somehow the manager ends up at the guy who gave you the tips house? Oh, this is beautiful. I had the same one. Where'd you get this? Sal Wakana gave it to me. Did he now? Gave me the exact same one.

• 36:42Speaker 01

  But he's in a-

• 36:42Speaker 03

They do know each other. I've introduced them.

• 36:44H. Foley?

Okay. Well, you should have never done that.

• 36:46Speaker 03

I still spent 500 on it. He's running the wise. And that's a gift. You go back and you look up right away. So they know that that was-

• 36:52Speaker 01

  Cause that's a heavy box.

• 36:53H. Foley?

You do that? You do that? You go look it up?

• 36:55Speaker 03

If I was given a piece of machinery like that, I'd want to know more about it. This is not like, let me see what this person spent.

• 37:02Speaker 01

  A little bit.

• 37:03Speaker 03

That's not 100% of the pie chart.

• 37:05Speaker 01

It's not not in a pie chart.

• 37:06Speaker 03

  It's in there. It's a slice.

• 37:08H. Foley?

  It's 50%.

• 37:09Speaker 03

So I had offered the other one to someone who told me that they actually have something like it and they don't even have the counter space. And so I asked them. And so now I have one. And now I say to you guys, what do you got here in the studio?

• 37:22H. Foley?

  No.

• 37:23Speaker 03

What do you got here in the studio?

• 37:24H. Foley?

  That's yours to replace it.

• 37:27Speaker 03

  What do you got here?

• 37:27Speaker 01

  We got a-

• 37:28Speaker 03

  What are you working with?

• 37:29Speaker 01

We just have a standard Keurig.

• 37:31Speaker 03

  You have a Keurig?

• 37:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 37:32Speaker 03

  No, you don't.

• 37:33Speaker 01

  You got a Breville.

• 37:34Speaker 03

You guys got a $1,000 retail Breville coming to you.

• 37:37Speaker 01

Mer comes walking in with it.

• 37:40H. Foley?

  Just mad he drops it?

• 37:43H. Foley?

  He's just a special machine.

• 37:44Speaker 03

I'm gonna bring this into you guys for the studio.

• 37:46H. Foley?

No, get out of here. That's yours!

• 37:47Speaker 03

I said it. You know, as I was saying it, I was really thinking like, should I say this?

• 37:53H. Foley?

  No, you got it.

• 37:53Speaker 03

I got swept up in the moment, but you know what? It's great. It's a great story. It's found a good home here.

• 37:58Speaker 01

  We were on the road.

• 37:59H. Foley?

We're gonna have a coffee shop built right next to your house. We gotta one-up you.

• 38:03Speaker 03

My only requirement is that it sits right here. On this table, right in the middle of you and the guest. That's all. That's all you gotta do and it's yours. All right? I put a qualifier on it.

• 38:12H. Foley?

The second you give that to us, yours is gonna break. You know that.

• 38:14Speaker 03

  No, I have mine.

• 38:16H. Foley?

Oh, you do? This is an extra-

• 40:36H. Foley?

Let me ask you, we're only at the coffee machine. Let's see what else is on the countertop. We might be in a big score here.

• 40:42Speaker 03

  Yeah, let's go, let's go 14 to 16.

• 40:44Speaker 01

You have any Sub-Zero fridges laying around?

• 40:46Speaker 03

I have one, it's not on the countertop.

• 40:48H. Foley?

If we hear something that we happen to like better that's on the countertop, can we trade the Breville in?

• 40:52Speaker 01

  Yankee swap this.

• 40:52Speaker 03

Okay, alright, let's see, stay tuned.

• 40:54H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 40:55Speaker 03

14 to 16 inches to the right. I have a gift that my manager got me, completely unrelated, like two years later. Now, I'm not gonna remember the brand of this thing, and I wish I, I wish, maybe you could look it up. It's a Japanese tabletop convection oven, okay? Now, this thing, it works with, you put a little water in there, so that there's some, some steam in there.

• 41:21H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 41:21Speaker 03

Okay, I thought, so I, so I opened this up, and my, my, first thing my wife says is, I don't, because I come home with a lot of things. Things I get sent from the.

• 41:29H. Foley?

She likes, she likes a clean countertop.

• 41:32Speaker 03

So she's always like, so one time, she had mentioned that she, like, she would really love to use an air fryer, but it's gargantuan, and we don't have the space for it. I made the mistake of mentioning this to Joey Fatone of NSYNC, who li, he loves his.

• 41:47Speaker 01

It's like a Mad Libs of famous people.

• 41:48Speaker 03

I don't mean to name drop, but like, he loves his air fryer, and he says to me, I'm sending, he did it to me, he said, I'm sending you one. I said, I love you, don't? We don't have the counter space, and I, I don't even, I think it would be seen as an aggression.

• 42:00Speaker 01

I got Brevils coming up to my neck, okay?

• 42:02Speaker 03

I, she, I got Brevils, I got Brevils in storage, if she sees this thing, it might be, we might be on the rocks.

• 42:08H. Foley?

  Sal's warehouse is full.

• 42:09Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm like crazy Eddie. I, I got, I have so many SKUs, so.

• 42:15Speaker 01

  Shout out to SKUs.

• 42:16Speaker 03

It comes the next day, he doesn't even, so it comes the next day, and we've used it, and she loves it. But it does, it is tucked away, because that thing was like this big, but.

• 42:24H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 42:24Speaker 03

So, so, I open it, and she goes, I, I can't, I can't, I don't want it, I don't know what the thing, I said, alright, just calm down. I looked it up. I mean, the reviews were through the roof.

• 42:35Speaker 01

  Look in.

• 42:35Speaker 03

Right? And what this thing does is, and I know, we plugged it in, so it has settings.

• 42:40Speaker 01

How big is it? Just balls, so I can get a...

• 42:41Speaker 03

  Right here.

• 42:42Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 42:42Speaker 03

  Right here.

• 42:43Speaker 01

Kind of like a toaster oven type thing.

• 42:44Speaker 03

It's like a toaster oven. It's not big. It's very, very reasonable.

• 42:46Speaker 01

  They're compact, the...

• 42:47Speaker 03

Yeah. It's sleek. It's all white, white dials. It looks like something from the future.

• 42:52Speaker 01

  Ooh, white.

• 42:52Speaker 03

In a good way, not a bad way. Not like, not like a apocalyptic way. Just like a...

• 42:57H. Foley?

There's not a Terminator sitting on your countertop. Yeah, I got you.

• 42:59Speaker 03

  It looks very simple.

• 43:00H. Foley?

  Uh huh.

• 43:01Speaker 03

You know how like, Apple has that aesthetic?

• 43:02H. Foley?

  Yes, yes. The rounded edges.

• 43:05Speaker 03

  Yes, it has rounded edges.

• 43:06H. Foley?

  Yes.

• 43:06Speaker 03

So, this thing has some settings. It has toast, bagel, pizza, like frozen, and then, and then, right from there, it's got 400, 450, oh, 425, 450. Here's the thing about this thing.

• 43:18H. Foley?

But there's water in it and it toasts?

• 43:20Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 43:20H. Foley?

  How does that work, Sal?

• 43:22Speaker 03

Okay, let me tell you. So, first of all, if you're doing the, if you're doing...

• 43:25Speaker 01

It's three easy payments at $99.99.

• 43:27Speaker 03

If you're doing, I, I should get the brand of this, cause then...

• 43:30Speaker 01

Are you having any luck over there?

• 43:31Speaker 03

  Clip that too, please.

• 43:32Speaker 01

  Balmuda?

• 43:32Speaker 03

  Yes, that's it.

• 43:33H. Foley?

  Boom!

• 43:34Speaker 01

How do you spell that? I'll pull it up over here.

• 43:35Speaker 03

I mean, that was another Owen March, right there.

• 43:37H. Foley?

We should be doing this on QVC.

• 43:39Speaker 03

Yeah, can I take a look at a photo of it?

• 43:41Speaker 01

I got it right here. That's gotta be it. Balmuda the toaster, white. $309.95, William Sonoma, out the door.

• 43:47Speaker 03

That's it, okay? Now, you say, "I don't think I need this for $300." That's crazy. It's a nice gift to give. Okay, my wife tried it, right then, I opened it, we put it on the thing. Later that night, the words came out of her mouth, "I cannot live without this."

• 44:01H. Foley?

  What?

• 44:02Speaker 03

  Okay?

• 44:02Speaker 01

Well, Balmuda toaster features a revolutionary technology that combines steam with precise heat control. Its five unique heat modes are designed to bring out the best in any dish.

• 44:12Speaker 03

  You haven't...

• 44:12Speaker 01

Pour 5 cc's of water at the start of each toast. Heating more rapidly than air, a thin layer of steam envelopes the bread, lightly toasting its surface while keeping its inner moisture and flavor from escaping. These Japanese are taking over!

• 44:25H. Foley?

  What's going on?

• 44:26Speaker 03

  They've cornered them all.

• 44:26Speaker 01

  I'm in!

• 44:27Speaker 03

You haven't. Look at me in the eyes, both of you. I'll put one eye here, one eye here. You haven't had toast.

• 44:34H. Foley?

You've had a lot of coffee.

• 44:36Speaker 03

  Look at me.

• 44:37H. Foley?

  His eyes can go differently.

• 44:39Speaker 03

Let's make a blood oath. No. You haven't had toast.

• 44:42Speaker 01

Try a cup of decaf, will ya?

• 44:43Speaker 03

Add it from this thing. It makes it so that the toast is crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy inside every time it's, and you don't have to think about it.

• 44:53Speaker 01

  He's not wrong.

• 44:54Speaker 03

The 400, the 425, the 450, listen to the genius of this, there's no preheating. You turn it on, it's 400 immediately. They did away with preheating.

• 45:04H. Foley?

I know because I held my hand in there.

• 45:06Speaker 03

It's on, so when you want to start cooking, it starts that second. Now, the 5cc's of water is another fun thing. Because every time I go to make toast, I'm like, I need 5cc stat.

• 45:15Speaker 01

  That's fun. You're doing bit.

• 45:17H. Foley?

That was just having a good time.

• 45:18Speaker 03

Keeps paying dividends. And you get it in the form of a little black mug, this big. It looks like something like, you know, I feel like a giant.

• 45:26H. Foley?

  Uh huh.

• 45:26Speaker 03

And then I take it and I run it under the water and I, and I pour the 5cc's in there and do the pizza, if you're heating up a hero, anything, waffles, anything. And it's so fast and it's so good. Like a regular toaster, it's, this is, this is, this is not that.

• 45:42H. Foley?

Do you remember what, uh, what the missus had put in there that, that, that, that put the hook in her? What she made?

• 45:47Speaker 03

She probably made an array of items that could be toast. I don't remember specifically.

• 45:52Speaker 01

Well, they got toaster features a sandwich bread mode, artisan bread mode, pizza mode, and pastry mode.

• 45:59H. Foley?

I like that pastry mode, yeah.

• 46:00Speaker 03

And guess what? I don't even, I don't even conform to what they say it is. I've tried toast on every mode. And I'll try, and, and, and don't tempt me with a good time. I've tried the waffles on pizza mode, I've tried the pizza on bread mode.

• 46:11Speaker 01

I'm looking at reviews, best toaster I've ever seen, Sal Volcano, that's weird.

• 46:16Speaker 03

So Dyson, Breville, and Balmuda. Let's just, was it Bal, Bal, Balmuda?

• 46:21Speaker 01

  Balmuda, yeah.

• 46:21Speaker 03

Balmuda, Dyson, Breville, and Balmuda, just clip this for me. And then you guys, I'll just, you know, just send it to my business address.

• 46:30H. Foley?

Sal Volcano gave it 5 out of 6 cc's.

• 46:33Speaker 03

You, I swear to god, you said, "Let's talk kitchen counter," I got a little chub.

• 46:36Speaker 01

Oh, because this is great, okay.

• 46:38H. Foley?

So that's the toaster, that's the toaster oven.

• 46:40Speaker 01

  That's living out, that's out.

• 46:42Speaker 03

That's out, that's constantly out, that's used every day. But those two things are used every day.

• 46:46H. Foley?

Right, that's the toaster, the toaster oven, the reheat machine, that's, that's everything.

• 46:50Speaker 03

Yeah, follow me along another foot, please.

• 46:53H. Foley?

  Come on, gang.

• 46:54Speaker 03

Follow me along another foot to the corner.

• 46:56H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 46:56Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 46:57Speaker 01

We've all, if you're doing the math out there, we've only made it about 30 inches.

• 47:01Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I will say to the left of the breville is just a runway, there's nothing there.

• 47:06Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 47:06H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 47:07Speaker 03

Uh, there is a little sign there, a little potted plant and a candle.

• 47:11H. Foley?

  Very nice.

• 47:11Speaker 03

We should talk electronics, so I wasn't even, I wasn't even gonna bring that up.

• 47:14Speaker 01

  Why would you, man?

• 47:15Speaker 03

  Yeah. You go down-

• 47:16H. Foley?

Is that a potted plant and orchid?

• 47:18Speaker 03

  Um, it's actually a cactus.

• 47:20H. Foley?

  Okay, real?

• 47:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 47:21H. Foley?

  Very nice.

• 47:22Speaker 03

We have like 60, 70 plants in the house.

• 47:24H. Foley?

  Nice.

• 47:25Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm not responsible for any of them.

• 47:26Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 47:27H. Foley?

  Very nice.

• 47:27Speaker 03

But let me tell you something right now, it does bring, if you're not a plant household-

• 47:31Speaker 01

  I'm a plant household, I would say.

• 47:32Speaker 03

I mean, I got green everywhere, it's a, there's a vibrancy and a livelihood that it brings in that really, I, I, I really wouldn't be without 50 to 60 plants if I could help it.

• 47:41H. Foley?

Um, I, I was teasing you out front, when you guys were talking about the kids and stuff like that, I do have a money tree that literally started out about this big.

• 47:49Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 47:50H. Foley?

Went from, I don't know, 7 years ago, now he's 6 feet tall.

• 47:53Speaker 03

  Isn't it wonderful?

• 47:54H. Foley?

I, I feel, if, if something ever, I, I, remember this, remember this summer?

• 47:58Speaker 03

It's fine, you're grabbing the tree, right?

• 47:59H. Foley?

I'm, yeah, grabbing the tree, pushing her, grabbing the cat, I'm out. She's probably knocking me out. Um, no, when it got sick in the summer, we transported it from one pot to another and he started getting sick. What, what did I do? Remember I called that guy?

• 48:15Speaker 03

Yeah, you gotta get some new soil.

• 48:16H. Foley?

I got a plant expert over there.

• 48:17Speaker 03

  Yeah, you gotta do it.

• 48:18H. Foley?

I got a guy over there.

• 48:19Speaker 03

  Yeah, you had to.

• 48:20H. Foley?

Quincy, I had Quincy come to the house.

• 48:21Speaker 03

They've become part of the family.

• 48:22Speaker 01

  I, yeah.

• 48:24H. Foley?

If something happened to this thing-

• 48:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 48:26H. Foley?

  I'm going right behind it.

• 48:27Speaker 03

  I understand.

• 48:28H. Foley?

So if he jumps, I'm jumping with him.

• 48:30Speaker 03

I understand, I really do. You know what I also do on top of the plants? Every couple of weeks, fresh flowers. Guys, you add some color in there and you could buy a bundle at like Trader Joe's for like $10.

• 48:41H. Foley?

Do you do this and bring them home?

• 48:43Speaker 03

I pick up flowers, I do. I pick up flowers often.

• 48:46H. Foley?

  She loves that.

• 48:46Speaker 03

She picks them up, I pick them up, we pick them up, we're a flower household. And then she breaks them into little bunches and puts them all around. And it just really adds a nice touch, an entree.

• 48:57H. Foley?

  Makes a house a home.

• 48:58Speaker 03

It makes a house a home.

• 48:59H. Foley?

  Yeah, makes the house living.

• 49:00Speaker 03

I agree, and if you haven't tried it, try it. And then, you know, drop a line and let us know how it was.

• 49:05H. Foley?

  Yeah, drop a review.

• 49:06Speaker 01

  Hit me up.

• 49:07Speaker 03

So, if you go to the corner now, we have, it's not electronics, but it is a two-tier bowl.

• 49:14Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 49:15Speaker 03

  A two-tier bowl.

• 49:16Speaker 01

Got fruit in there, what are you doing in there?

• 49:17Speaker 03

We got fruit and veg and some package items like crackers and things like that.

• 49:21Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 49:23H. Foley?

  I can't picture the two-tier bowl.

• 49:24Speaker 03

So it's like, it almost, it's like, it's like-

• 49:26H. Foley?

Like a yin and a yang?

• 49:27Speaker 03

It's like a metallic bowl, and then, so you can, you can like stick your hand through it, like it's like, has like a wired metallic, like a- It's a rose gold if I'm being honest.

• 49:36H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 49:37Speaker 03

And then, and then above that bowl is another bowl smaller like that.

• 49:41H. Foley?

  Ah!

• 49:42Speaker 01

  Imagine like a hanging basket.

• 49:44H. Foley?

  I got it!

• 49:44Speaker 03

  Correct.

• 49:45Speaker 01

  But stationary.

• 49:45H. Foley?

Which one do you put the fruit in, the top one or the bottom one?

• 49:47Speaker 03

She does both. I tend to like to put the fruit in the bottom.

• 49:51H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 49:51Speaker 03

  Only because, okay, follow me.

• 49:55H. Foley?

  We're right there with you.

• 49:56Speaker 03

When it's in the top and the fruit is getting ripe and soft, because it's a wired bowl, there's really nothing supporting the fruit if it gets soft enough to start to get into the grooves of the wires.

• 50:05H. Foley?

  They don't want that.

• 50:06Speaker 03

Underneath the bottom one, I got some nice quartz there. So if a banana or something starts to get soft, it's also resting on the quartz and it's not like slipping through there and then ruining its, uh, its shape and stuff like that.

• 50:19H. Foley?

I got it. Quartz is very nice.

• 50:21Speaker 03

Thank you so much. Yeah. So, you know, I put thought into this stuff.

• 50:24H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 50:25Speaker 03

Yeah. It's a method. And then you go a little bit right from there, and you're gonna hit the left of the stove where she has a nice little station that has olive oils and different salts and things of that nature.

• 50:39Speaker 01

  Sea salt.

• 50:40Speaker 03

That are ready to go though. They're in these little like decorative little bowls. And so she has like a-

• 50:45H. Foley?

  Oh, she's doing pinch assault.

• 50:46Speaker 03

Yeah, she's got the stuff, she's just going.

• 50:48Speaker 01

Dude, can I ask you something?

• 50:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 50:50Speaker 01

You got a mortar and pestle out?

• 50:51Speaker 03

  I do, right there.

• 50:52Speaker 01

  I know he does.

• 50:52Speaker 03

Yeah, right there. Well, that doesn't stay out the whole time, that goes back in the thing, but it's out a lot because she's

• 50:58Speaker 01

  You're making, you're mashing.

• 50:59Speaker 03

  Fair enough, she's pestles.

• 51:00H. Foley?

  Really? She pestles?

• 51:01Speaker 03

  She pestles a fair amount.

• 51:02H. Foley?

  Really?

• 51:03Speaker 03

What is there too is the, um, the thing for the spoons?

• 51:06Speaker 01

  Spoon rest.

• 51:07H. Foley?

I know what you're talking about.

• 51:08Speaker 03

  Spoon rest.

• 51:08H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 51:09Speaker 03

  And the ladle rest.

• 51:09Speaker 01

  What you know, not European.

• 51:12H. Foley?

  Yeah, right.

• 51:13Speaker 01

Swear to God, they don't even know, they've never even seen them.

• 51:16Speaker 03

  Really?

• 51:16Speaker 01

They, they, every European, every one of my wife's family or friends, different countries that have come over go, "This thing's genius."

• 51:22Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 51:23Speaker 01

I go, "How does this not made it?" How does technology stay here?

• 51:25Speaker 03

They've been putting down their spoons and ladles.

• 51:26H. Foley?

That's funny that you say that because I, I've told you this story, I don't know if I've ever told Sal. When I was 12, I worked at, uh, our local diner, Gem Restaurant, shout out to it, the best. Um, uh, Mr. Bello, who, who, owner, operator, his mother survived an earthquake in Sicily, came over here to

• 51:43Speaker 03

  I heard this story, yeah.

• 51:44H. Foley?

  Did you?

• 51:46Speaker 01

Snooze, well, you got two stories to plant in this? Jesus.

• 51:50Speaker 03

Tell me more about this earthquake.

• 51:51H. Foley?

  The plant's this tall.

• 51:54H. Foley?

She had a spoon rest, she would come in every Sunday and she would make the, the red sauce for the week. I was in charge of washing this thing, I broke it.

• 52:03Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah, they can.

• 52:04H. Foley?

  You'd never forgive me.

• 52:04Speaker 03

Recently, it's her favorite thing and it broke and we crazy glued it, but it's not the same.

• 52:08H. Foley?

Oh, I take it for it.

• 52:10Speaker 03

Oh, I skipped over something. In between the bowl and that is a gift she got me, which is like a little, uh, chalice. Um, and it's a, it's a handmade chalice, it's painted and it's really nice, it's like a, it's like a nice item. Um, by some like houseware designer, I forget his name. I could, I could find it, Jonathan Adler. Jonathan Adler.

• 52:36Speaker 01

  Get eyes on Jay.

• 52:37H. Foley?

  You know Jonathan Adler?

• 52:38Speaker 03

  Yeah. Very nice.

• 52:39Speaker 01

  Really?

• 52:39Speaker 03

This is basically, it looks like a cookie jar, but it's for weed.

• 52:43Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 52:44Speaker 03

Maybe type in like Jonathan Adler weed.

• 52:47Speaker 01

Is that what it's for, weed?

• 52:48Speaker 03

Yeah, it says weed on it, it's beautiful.

• 52:50H. Foley?

Is that what you put your weed in there?

• 52:51Speaker 01

  Yeah, this, right there.

• 52:53Speaker 03

This, this one right here, that's it.

• 52:54Speaker 01

  Oh, this one?

• 52:54Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's it.

• 52:55Speaker 01

  Oh, that's fun.

• 52:56Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 52:57Speaker 01

  Very fun.

• 52:57Speaker 03

  Kids can't read you.

• 52:59Speaker 01

You know what he would like? Made by, handmade by our friend Ryan D.

• 53:05H. Foley?

  Possibly, yes, of course.

• 53:06Speaker 01

He makes, uh, our friend out there, Ryan makes, uh...

• 53:09H. Foley?

  Our director of operations.

• 53:10Speaker 01

Self, he gave himself that title.

• 53:12Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, sure.

• 53:13Speaker 01

Diop's, uh... He makes wooden spoons by hand. Carves them, laves them himself by hand.

• 53:18H. Foley?

  Good quality, Sal.

• 53:19Speaker 01

Great, handmade, and they have, instead of being a full round spoon, it's a sauce spoon. So the edge is, there's an edge to like the top, so you can scrape the bottom of the pan.

• 53:29Speaker 03

  I need one.

• 53:31Speaker 01

  They're not available anywhere else.

• 53:32Speaker 03

I need one in my life.

• 53:33Speaker 01

  It's crazy.

• 53:33H. Foley?

  For deep glazing purposes.

• 53:34Speaker 03

  How do I purchase it?

• 53:36H. Foley?

  Purchase?

• 53:37Speaker 01

  Purchase?

• 53:37Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 53:38Speaker 01

  Five grand, check to me.

• 53:41Speaker 01

  I'll talk to him.

• 53:42Speaker 03

  Even swap for the machine.

• 53:43H. Foley?

Wait till Christmas, I'll send you a promo code, 50% off. You can only buy one, you're not reselling.

• 53:50Speaker 03

Yeah, it says weed on one side, you see, you see the, um, there's a lot of detail in that paint.

• 53:54Speaker 01

This is, yeah, this is very much a... Oh, wow, yes, yes.

• 53:58Speaker 03

Now, the other side says hash.

• 53:59Speaker 01

  Whoa.

• 54:00Speaker 03

And I don't dabble there. I did, there's a story on my, uh, on my special terrified streaming now on HBO Max.

• 54:06H. Foley?

  Of course.

• 54:07Speaker 03

That, uh, where I accidentally did hash in, um, in Amsterdam, and that's, so I don't, I don't dabble there. So, okay, so then you got all those little doodads. And then you go to...

• 54:15Speaker 01

  Tchotchkes, some.

• 54:16Speaker 03

Tchotchkes. And then you go to the right side of the stove, and it's the books. It's the, it's the, uh, cookbooks.

• 54:22Speaker 01

How many you think are sitting there? Ballpark.

• 54:24Speaker 03

  Uh, I'll say 10.

• 54:26Speaker 01

  Good amount of books.

• 54:27Speaker 03

10 cookbooks, three or four which I purchased, uh, really nice ones.

• 54:30Speaker 01

What ones do you like? Do you, do you know off the top of your head what ones they were?

• 54:32Speaker 03

I got the, yeah, I got the, uh, Jack's Wife Frida Cookbook.

• 54:35Speaker 01

  Famous one, yeah.

• 54:36H. Foley?

Just drove by that in Brooklyn not that long ago.

• 54:38Speaker 03

Oh yeah, there's a few, yeah, it's a really good spot. And they, they make this like green so- like sauce that she loves and I called the place to get the, uh, to get the recipe so I can make it for her and they said it's in the cookbook and they sent me the cookbook.

• 54:50Speaker 01

Now is that a call you yourself made?

• 54:52Speaker 03

  I made it.

• 54:53H. Foley?

And do you say, "Hey, this is Sal Volcano?"

• 54:55Speaker 01

Because the places aren't ready, I'm not saying that you would throw your name out.

• 54:57Speaker 03

Well, I DM them from my socia ls, yeah.

• 55:01Speaker 01

Gotcha, that make- because if I called up and said, "Hey, give me the ingredients," they'd be like, "What the hell are you doing?"

• 55:05H. Foley?

  Trying to rip me off?

• 55:06Speaker 03

There's a, there's also a cook, uh, name, uh, chef named Molly Baz. She's a big fan of her and so I got her that cookbook and then I got her tickets to see her give a speech with the new, with the new cookbook autograph, so that was really nice. And this girl, she's got some recipes.

• 55:23Speaker 01

  Yeah?

• 55:23Speaker 03

Yeah, very, she's got one that's like comfort food.

• 55:26Speaker 01

Oh, I have this. My wife, my wife has it, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 55:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 55:28Speaker 01

  She's big on the books.

• 55:30Speaker 03

Yeah, and then some passed down ones and it's that, and then, then, um, on the, right next to those is like the, the knife magnet that's on the wall.

• 55:37Speaker 01

  You got that magnet?

• 55:38Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 55:39H. Foley?

  Whoa, you got that?

• 55:40Speaker 03

I, she got it recently and it is nice.

• 55:42Speaker 01

  I love it.

• 55:43H. Foley?

You like a block, don't you?

• 55:44Speaker 03

But my daughter is getting tall enough to almost reach him now and so I, I am nervous admittedly, yeah.

• 55:48H. Foley?

  Sure.

• 55:49Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 55:49H. Foley?

  You guys do a block.

• 55:50Speaker 03

It is nice, like I always like fantasize, I'm in the kitchen doing something, I don't cook, but maybe I am in that, in the fantasy. And like someone comes in like an intruder.

• 55:57H. Foley?

Smoking a little doobie, it sounds like it to me.

• 55:59Speaker 03

Yeah, and it, gee, I was, oh yeah, that's where I smoke it because the fan of the oven just sucks it out of you.

• 56:02H. Foley?

You're smoking weed in the kitchen?

• 56:03Speaker 03

Yeah. I'm also gonna smoke in the shower.

• 56:07H. Foley?

  Coffee machine's right there.

• 56:08Speaker 03

Yeah, uh, so I fantasize that I'm like, I can cook and then an shooter comes and I'm like, "Shing!" Like I feel it, me ripping it off the thing.

• 56:15Speaker 01

  It's out of a movie.

• 56:16Speaker 03

Yeah, it's out of a movie, yeah.

• 56:16H. Foley?

I've done that recently where I've took in the knife and done that thing to try to get the, whew.

• 56:21Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's.

• 56:22H. Foley?

You really gotta do it fast.

• 56:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 56:24Speaker 01

I don't think you got it in you.

• 56:26Speaker 03

  Woo!

• 56:26H. Foley?

  Need a foley artist.

• 56:29H. Foley?

Put a little something on there.

• 56:30Speaker 03

So, so that's it, so the only electronics now that I'm talking out loud that I have on the counter is, uh, the, the Revel and the, the.

• 56:37Speaker 01

  The Batsam, the Bermuda? Balmuda.

• 56:40H. Foley?

  Granite countertop?

• 56:42Speaker 03

  Quartz.

• 56:42Speaker 04

  Quartz.

• 56:43H. Foley?

  Oh, the countertop is quartz.

• 56:45Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 56:46H. Foley?

Wait a minute, I thought just you had a little block of quartz underneath that. The whole countertop is quartz?

• 56:51Speaker 03

Yeah, but, well, I mean, you know, I mean, yes. Well, because you could do, you could do granite, you could do marble, you could do quartz.

• 56:58H. Foley?

  Quartz is the best.

• 56:58Speaker 03

You could do formica. I've had formica in my life. I have formica most of my life.

• 57:02H. Foley?

Sure, and the side, the side peels off.

• 57:05Speaker 03

Yeah, so they, yes, it does. Oh, well, that, but you want it to peel off. Like, that's my, that's what was in my grandparents' house.

• 57:11H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 57:12Speaker 01

  Try to superglue it.

• 57:13Speaker 03

I could see a formica peel in this space. This is it.

• 57:15Speaker 01

There, you gotta get some formica peels.

• 57:17Speaker 03

Um, but, uh, uh, yeah, they said it's manmade. They sold me on it because they said the, if you get marble, it's more expensive and it stains.

• 57:25H. Foley?

I'd say quartz would be more expensive, and it's manmade?

• 57:28Speaker 03

They, I think, pretty sure they told me it was manmade.

• 57:30H. Foley?

  We're making quartz now?

• 57:31Speaker 01

Doing a lot. I'm making, I'm making diamonds.

• 57:33H. Foley?

  I know, diamonds I get.

• 57:34Speaker 01

They started diamonds, not at quartz?

• 57:36Speaker 03

  Maybe there's like a quartz.

• 57:37Speaker 04

  People actually prefer manmade quartz.

• 57:39H. Foley?

  Really?

• 57:40Speaker 03

  Okay, there you go.

• 57:41H. Foley?

Won't everybody bitching about a quartz shortage for the batteries and stuff? Know what I'm thinking of?

• 57:46Speaker 03

Don't try to throw me, trying to throw me under the bus here? Is this a gotcha moment?

• 57:50Speaker 01

They're gonna be, they're gonna be ripping up his, ripping up his kitchen.

• 57:53Speaker 03

  I got cancer.

• 57:54H. Foley?

  Everyone's gonna sell.

• 57:57Speaker 01

Outside with a bunch of pitchforks.

• 57:58H. Foley?

  Don't damage the fruit!

• 58:00Speaker 03

They're taking my catalytic converter outside, the quartz on the inside.

• 58:04H. Foley?

  Picking it clean.

• 58:05Speaker 01

Okay. Wow. I gotta be honest with you?

• 58:09Speaker 03

That was one question, is how I do it.

• 58:11Speaker 01

That was one question, and it was about 55 minutes, I'm not even messing with you? That's my favorite thing we've ever done in my life.

• 58:18H. Foley?

  100%.

• 58:19Speaker 01

That's amazing. Huh. I got a couple more, you know, you see, you saw Volcano here, um...

• 58:26Speaker 03

I'm, I got, you know, no hard outs, so don't worry about me.

• 58:28Speaker 01

Sure, great. Um, how frequently, uh, this is a question from Brendan, and this is, this goes into, we were talking again with Verzi, something I, I was experienced, that's how it started. Um, how frequently you ask for like a cash discount if you're like doing something, and how do you go about that?

• 58:45Speaker 03

Cash, hey, if I pay cash, can I get that discount?

• 58:47Speaker 01

If you're talking to a guy who's, you know, uh, he's redoing the deck and he's like, hey, it's 1,200. You go, eh, what is your cash?

• 58:53Speaker 03

  Yeah, I would say-

• 58:54Speaker 01

How do you, how do you get in there?

• 58:55Speaker 03

In those instances where it's like a vendor like that, maybe doing some work or whatever, a lot of times, that's offered first.

• 59:03Speaker 01

They'll, they'll give, they'll give you the flag.

• 59:05Speaker 03

Even if it, if it's in a store, it's like, this is the cash price, this is that price. So they'll offer it first. Uh, I, I'm not someone that like has that in the back pocket all the time.

• 59:13Speaker 01

  I don't like it.

• 59:14Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 59:15Speaker 01

  Doesn't make me feel nice.

• 59:16Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm not looking to get anything over on anybody per se, but, but also that's just being a smart consumer.

• 59:21Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 59:21Speaker 03

Sometimes they prefer, they, cause cash is more to them.

• 59:23Speaker 01

  I got a promo code.

• 59:24Speaker 03

Yeah. Like the guy that I use sometimes as, for a car service, I took that offline. I started just calling, texting him and just, I pay him the fee.

• 59:33Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 59:33Speaker 03

He doesn't have to give a kickback to them. He gives me a lower price, all that goes in his pocket. God bless the man, you know?

• 59:39Speaker 01

  That's smart.

• 59:39H. Foley?

Do you have your steady guys? Do you have your handyman? Do you have your lawn guy or whoever? Do you, you got, you guys all troughed off?

• 59:47Speaker 03

Um, that's the, that is the goal.

• 59:49H. Foley?

  Mm-hmm.

• 59:50Speaker 03

Uh, uh, I have, I have, I have a guy, yes. I, I now have a new handyman guy.

• 59:56H. Foley?

  You call him?

• 59:57Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 59:57H. Foley?

  Hey Rusty, it's sound-

• 59:58Speaker 03

  God bless him, Voitek.

• 59:59H. Foley?

  Voitek?

• 1:00:00Speaker 03

  Voitek.

• 1:00:01H. Foley?

Voitek? That sounds like one of your companies.

• 1:00:02Speaker 03

Yeah, it does. It sounds like a, a cricket wireless or something like that. That's biggest competitor. Yeah.

• 1:00:08H. Foley?

  Only calls Albania?

• 1:00:09Speaker 03

Yeah. My, my, my daughter's so cute, cause like, he was in the house doing a project for like a couple of weeks. And, um, and so my daughter learned his name and she'd be like, you know, this is like, like literally like a 65-year-old like Albanian guy. And she'd just like wake up in the morning and he'd already been working. She'd be like, hi, good morning, Voitek. You know? And then like one time she'd be like, dad, do you wanna play? And I'm like, yeah. And she's like, okay. And so, uh-

• 1:00:33Speaker 01

  Be you and Voitek.

• 1:00:34Speaker 03

Yeah. No, she goes, she goes, you wanna play like building? I was like, yeah. She goes, okay, you be you, I'll be Voitek.

• 1:00:43H. Foley?

You sit on the couch and I'll do everything. What? Daddy does stuff too.

• 1:00:48Speaker 03

I'll be Voitek. I lost it.

• 1:00:50Speaker 01

  Oh, that's great, dude.

• 1:00:54Speaker 01

I also, in my head, I pictured the three of you, you, Voitek and Harris sitting down having a-

• 1:00:57Speaker 03

I told him, I told him, he loved it.

• 1:01:01Speaker 03

Actually, the full story is, every like, three weeks, we have a lady come to do a deep clean.

• 1:01:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:01:08Speaker 03

In the house, because I'm always on the road and with the kids.

• 1:01:10Speaker 01

Saved my marriage. Because you come home and you're like, I haven't cleaned.

• 1:01:14Speaker 03

Yeah. And her name is Marta. And so, she said, Daddy, you want to play? You be Marta, I'll be Voitek.

• 1:01:22H. Foley?

  Hand you a toilet brush.

• 1:01:25Speaker 03

  I told Marta and Voitek.

• 1:01:28Speaker 01

Uh, God. Um, alright, let's see here. This, we got time for one or two more here. This is from Brooks. Kentucky Trash. I don't know if you're familiar with the program, you gotta grade the South on a curve.

• 1:01:40Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:01:40Speaker 01

Kentucky's a little... Says, "My family owns and operates a pawn shop growing up, and my dad would always trade things to get things paid for the kids. Most notably, he traded our orthodontist's shotguns and TVs for part of our braces bill. And more recently, met a couple that was opening a pizza place and traded them some TVs for a thousand dollar gift card. Is that trash?"

• 1:02:02Speaker 03

How many TVs you got laying around?

• 1:02:03Speaker 01

Well, he owns a pawn shop.

• 1:02:05Speaker 03

  Oh, okay, okay, okay.

• 1:02:06Speaker 01

So I guess he's doing what you're doing.

• 1:02:07Speaker 03

Also, he would take the stuff from the store...

• 1:02:09Speaker 01

  Yeah, hey.

• 1:02:10Speaker 03

  To get braces paid off.

• 1:02:11Speaker 01

  I mean, braces is nuts.

• 1:02:13Speaker 03

  That's actually, that's...

• 1:02:14H. Foley?

  Shotguns.

• 1:02:16Speaker 03

Yeah, that's, I'm trying to imagine that conversation. You're in there with the orthodontist, you're like, let me show you something.

• 1:02:21Speaker 01

Orthodontist in Kentucky, too. So you gotta, you know what I mean? It's not...

• 1:02:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:25H. Foley?

Let's go back to the trunk, Rook. I'm gonna show you some...

• 1:02:26Speaker 03

You see that gap in between my son's teeth? Take a look at this sawed off.

• 1:02:30Speaker 01

I got a 12 gauge with your name on it.

• 1:02:32Speaker 03

See those buck teeth? Saw them off, and then take this saw.

• 1:02:36H. Foley?

A 357 can fit right through that. If you could shrink it down to about a 22.

• 1:02:41Speaker 03

I want him to be able to catch a bullet in his teeth.

• 1:02:44Speaker 01

  Oh, God.

• 1:02:45H. Foley?

  Trash.

• 1:02:47Speaker 03

  Yeah, but that's, that's, again, he's a smart consumer.

• 1:02:51Speaker 01

  I respect that.

• 1:02:51Speaker 03

The barter system goes back to biblical times.

• 1:02:53Speaker 01

  It is.

• 1:02:54H. Foley?

Do you remember anything you've ever traded like that?

• 1:02:57Speaker 03

  Uh, I mean, I'm sure I've bartered. I'm sure I've bartered.

• 1:03:01H. Foley?

I, I have, but not, not in the good way.

• 1:03:04Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:03:04Speaker 01

Believe it, there's a PG show. We're not talking hacks.

• 1:03:10H. Foley?

I have a stereo and five, five disc CD changer at a house down in North Carolina.

• 1:03:15Speaker 03

  A five disc is nice.

• 1:03:16H. Foley?

  It's five discs, Sal.

• 1:03:17Speaker 03

  It's still nice.

• 1:03:18H. Foley?

Plus I had a couple in there.

• 1:03:19Speaker 03

  Yeah. To this day.

• 1:03:21H. Foley?

We didn't listen to the same kind of music.

• 1:03:22Speaker 03

If you ever get like a, a, a CD here or there, or like you find one, you're like, I want to listen to it. For some reason you get one. A lot of people don't have CD players anymore. I have one at home and it's broken, so I, but I still have my favorite like 300 CDs. I didn't get rid of those.

• 1:03:36Speaker 01

  Uh huh.

• 1:03:36Speaker 03

But like if I had a five disc changer, that would be a big time amenity right now. To have five in there and then just shuffle it up and stuff.

• 1:03:44H. Foley?

  We're gonna get you one.

• 1:03:48H. Foley?

  We're getting one.

• 1:03:49Speaker 01

I can do you one better. I'm in the market now for, I bought my first car ever, 95 Chevy Lumina, went back and rebought it. Uh, cassettes.

• 1:03:57Speaker 03

  For nostalgia?

• 1:03:58Speaker 01

Uh, just for fun, a bit. I think it's funny.

• 1:04:00Speaker 03

Your actual car or just the type of car?

• 1:04:02Speaker 01

The same, yeah, no, no, not the act, not the, the one I had that crashed around a telephone park.

• 1:04:05Speaker 03

  Okay, okay.

• 1:04:06Speaker 01

  Rest in peace. Uh, no.

• 1:04:07H. Foley?

No, the one that he actually had, they put that in the Smithsonian. All the ladies they had there.

• 1:04:12Speaker 03

You know, he has, he had his Ford Taurus for like 30 years at that.

• 1:04:16Speaker 01

Uh, but no, so now I'm in the market for cassettes, because that's, I want to keep it original. I don't want it, because people are like, oh, you can get this, plug in your phone. I'm like, I want to be what, whatever I have.

• 1:04:25Speaker 03

Yes. So after my 84 Buick, Silverbuick Skyhawk, the next car I had was a Plymouth Reliant Brown K car.

• 1:04:34Speaker 01

  Another K?

• 1:04:35Speaker 03

  The driver's ed car.

• 1:04:36H. Foley?

  Sure.

• 1:04:37Speaker 03

  The Reliant K.

• 1:04:37Speaker 01

Wasn't there a band called Reliant K at some point?

• 1:04:39Speaker 03

I believe there was Reliant K, yeah.

• 1:04:41H. Foley?

We were just, we were just talking about that driver's ed car.

• 1:04:44Speaker 03

And they had a hit too, Reliant K.

• 1:04:46Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Probably when, I think when I was in high school maybe, around then.

• 1:04:48Speaker 04

  Be My Escape?

• 1:04:49Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:04:50Speaker 04

  Deathbed?

• 1:04:51Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:04:52Speaker 04

  Sadie Hawkins Dance?

• 1:04:54Speaker 03

  Are you making these up?

• 1:04:55Speaker 04

Who I Am Hates Who I've Loved?

• 1:04:58Speaker 03

They had, they had a, but it was one hit, so like, if you go to their Spotify, see what's played the most.

• 1:05:04Speaker 01

  Oh yeah, there you go.

• 1:05:05Speaker 03

Yeah. That, I don't recognize any of those.

• 1:05:08H. Foley?

Sadie Hawkins is an actor, isn't she?

• 1:05:10Speaker 01

No, Sadie Hawkins Dance was a dance.

• 1:05:12Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:05:13Speaker 01

That's like where, that's like where you went.

• 1:05:14H. Foley?

That's what I'm thinking of. Sally Hawkins?

• 1:05:15Speaker 03

  Sophie Hawkins.

• 1:05:16H. Foley?

  Sophie Hawkins?

• 1:05:17Speaker 03

  Sophie B, Sophie B Hawkins?

• 1:05:19H. Foley?

Sophie B Hawkins? Sophie B Hawkins is a breville.

• 1:05:22Speaker 03

Isn't, isn't that, isn't that the lady that's like, when the animals, they're asking you to donate for the money for the animals?

• 1:05:29H. Foley?

  No.

• 1:05:29Speaker 04

I don't know. You're talking about Jane Goodall?

• 1:05:31Speaker 03

Sadie Hawkins, Sophie B, Sophie B Hawkins?

• 1:05:35H. Foley?

  No.

• 1:05:35Speaker 03

Yeah, the, the animals, animals, you see the rib cages, like, if you could donate a quarter.

• 1:05:40Speaker 01

  Sophie B Hawkins pops up.

• 1:05:44Speaker 01

On point with Sophie B Hawkins.

• 1:05:46H. Foley?

  Oh, I remember her.

• 1:05:47Speaker 03

  I will remember.

• 1:05:48H. Foley?

No, that's not her, that's, um, god damn it, what's her name?

• 1:05:52Speaker 01

  Shania Twain, Sheryl Crow.

• 1:05:53H. Foley?

  No, that's not Shania Twain.

• 1:05:54Speaker 01

  Oh, it's, yeah.

• 1:05:56Speaker 03

This lady is when she, they play her music when you gotta donate to the dogs.

• 1:06:00H. Foley?

I think you're thinking of the-

• 1:06:01Speaker 04

  Sarah McLachlan.

• 1:06:01Speaker 03

Yeah, oh, that, no, sorry, yeah, that's who it is.

• 1:06:03Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:06:04H. Foley?

  Sarah McLachlan?

• 1:06:05Speaker 03

That's who, that's who the lady is with the dogs, not Sophie B Hawkins.

• 1:06:08H. Foley?

Yes. Sarah McLachlan, talk about a crush on her that I had when I was a kid. Not Hawkins, McLach-

• 1:06:18Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:06:19H. Foley?

  Sarah B Breville.

• 1:06:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:06:21H. Foley?

You didn't like Sarah, you didn't like Sarah McLachlan as a kid?

• 1:06:24Speaker 03

Uh, that, that era right there, I'm going, I'm probably skewing more, uh-

• 1:06:27Speaker 01

  Skew.

• 1:06:28Speaker 03

I'm skewing more Lisa, Lisa Loeb, something like that.

• 1:06:32H. Foley?

  Like Lisa Loeb.

• 1:06:32Speaker 01

  Like the glasses.

• 1:06:33Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:06:34H. Foley?

I never realized Ethan Hawke directed that, uh, that music video.

• 1:06:37Speaker 01

Now, Ethan Hawke, I had a thing for him.

• 1:06:38H. Foley?

  Oh, of course.

• 1:06:39Speaker 03

He's still, he's still killing it.

• 1:06:40H. Foley?

  Gorgeous.

• 1:06:41Speaker 01

  Ethan B Hawke.

• 1:06:41Speaker 03

  Black Phone, whatever it's called.

• 1:06:43Speaker 01

  Black Phone 2.

• 1:06:44Speaker 03

  2, yeah.

• 1:06:44Speaker 01

Just saw a billboard about an hour ago.

• 1:06:46H. Foley?

Yeah, that first one was great.

• 1:06:47Speaker 03

  Yeah, it was creepy.

• 1:06:48H. Foley?

Put the, they put that stuff, put that stuff out around October, it loves it.

• 1:06:52Speaker 03

I love it, you gotta, you, you gotta, cause you get the feeling for it.

• 1:06:55H. Foley?

  It's October, yeah.

• 1:06:55Speaker 03

Yeah. What about, did you see Boyhood?

• 1:06:57Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:06:58Speaker 03

  I cried.

• 1:06:58Speaker 01

  Well, I don't know what-

• 1:06:59H. Foley?

So when it was like 10 years?

• 1:07:00Speaker 03

  I cry a lot, yeah.

• 1:07:01H. Foley?

I found a great song in Boyhood by Family of the Year, uh, Hero.

• 1:07:05Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:07:06H. Foley?

It's the one where they're playing when they're in the truck together and they're driving?

• 1:07:09Speaker 03

  I saw it in a theater, I don't, I haven't re-watched it.

• 1:07:11H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 1:07:12Speaker 03

But I, I sobbed for five minutes during the credits.

• 1:07:14Speaker 01

I just looked it up and went, oh, Ethan Hawke's in that. That's why you brought him up.

• 1:07:18Speaker 03

But wait, what were we looking up? What were we looking up?

• 1:07:20Speaker 04

  Reliant K.

• 1:07:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:07:22Speaker 04

The hit was "Be My Escape."

• 1:07:24Speaker 03

  Oh, okay.

• 1:07:24Speaker 01

Sing it for us. No, I'm kidding. Jesus Christ.

• 1:07:30Speaker 03

Okay, well, I don't know. But anyway, so with that car, I had, there was no tape deck. And no CD. It was like, it just had-

• 1:07:39Speaker 01

  It was on the radio.

• 1:07:39Speaker 03

It just had like AM and FM, right? And so I used to drive around with a boombox in the front seat.

• 1:07:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:07:46Speaker 03

Yeah, and I played all my music off a boombox in the front bench seat of that car.

• 1:07:50Speaker 01

Sure, I gotta be honest with you, when I started this, when this show was already on the air, I was in my Mercury Montego, the CD player was jammed, and I didn't have the aux cord.

• 1:08:00Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:08:00Speaker 01

So I would just use a, like a, what are they, like a Bluetooth speaker.

• 1:08:05Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:08:05Speaker 01

And that would, I would just play it off my phone. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:08:08H. Foley?

I used to drive around with a band in my car.

• 1:08:11Speaker 01

  Twelve-piece.

• 1:08:11H. Foley?

And just have them play. The keyboard is Sal. Unbelievable.

• 1:08:16Speaker 01

That's a big car. All right, we gotta wrap it up.

• 1:08:18H. Foley?

  What a fun one.

• 1:08:19Speaker 01

  Woo, baby.

• 1:08:20Speaker 03

Can I plug one other thing?

• 1:08:21H. Foley?

I'm gonna redo the plugs again. You play anything with Sal, this is your show.

• 1:08:25Speaker 03

I have a new, a new talk show-

• 1:08:27Speaker 01

  I got a new toaster.

• 1:08:29Speaker 03

I have a new, a new talk show coming out called Minouche.

• 1:08:32Speaker 01

  Minouche?

• 1:08:33Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, it's short for Minouche. It's Minouche-

• 1:08:35H. Foley?

  Of course.

• 1:08:35Speaker 03

The concept is really big guests, really small talk, and it's this crazy, wacky, uh, wacky podcast where we go in and out from conversation to sketch comedy.

• 1:08:44Speaker 01

  Fun.

• 1:08:44Speaker 03

It's just something completely different. It's me one-on-one with like some really big people. Uh, it's gonna be coming out late fall, early, uh, winter on my YouTube and anywhere you get positive. M-I-N-O-O-S-H, Minouche. I'm really, this is my new project I'm working on.

• 1:08:58H. Foley?

  We love it.

• 1:08:58Speaker 03

I'm putting it out in ten-episode seasons.

• 1:09:00H. Foley?

  Oh.

• 1:09:00Speaker 03

So expect the first ten episodes to drop, and then, of course, salvacanocarmer.com for- I'm always, if you don't see your CD up there, I'm adding CDs every day.

• 1:09:07H. Foley?

Is there anybody better? Like, is there any-

• 1:09:09Speaker 01

  Not my boat.

• 1:09:09H. Foley?

Is there any but, look, he's shaking it, then the kid's shaking his head. There's nobody better than Sal. When it comes out, we're gonna plug it again.

• 1:09:15Speaker 01

  I'll plug it.

• 1:09:15H. Foley?

  When it drops.

• 1:09:16Speaker 03

  Thank you so much.

• 1:09:17H. Foley?

  Also-

• 1:09:17Speaker 01

  Goosebumps.

• 1:09:17Speaker 03

Maybe I come back on, maybe I come back on my-

• 1:09:19H. Foley?

  What are you, Sal?

• 1:09:20Speaker 01

I'm still waiting on this goddamn espresso machine. I'm upset it's not here right now.

• 1:09:23Speaker 03

When it's dropping, I'm coming back, I'm gonna hand-deliver the- It feels wrong to send the task rabbits, if I'm being honest. I'm gonna hand deliver it and we'll do the minutia and then that'll be that.

• 1:09:32Speaker 01

  Also, I do have-

• 1:09:32H. Foley?

Only have two or three of those before you come though.

• 1:09:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:09:34Speaker 01

Just text me. I had a PR person reach out and say, "You have Sal Volcano." I said, "It's so embarrassing." "S O B don't text me."

• 1:09:40Speaker 03

No, no, no. So, so, so they're doing that. They're going rogue and they're doing everything they can.

• 1:09:44H. Foley?

  I know, Sal, lady.

• 1:09:46Speaker 03

I always say, "I feel bad" because like everyone you're texting is my friends and I don't think that they, I hope they understand that I'm like, not like, be like, "Talk to this person."

• 1:09:53H. Foley?

  No, no.

• 1:09:53Speaker 03

  Please hold for Mr. Volcano.

• 1:09:55Speaker 01

The one time they were like, "Do you know Ari Shaffer?" I'm like, "Yeah, I know Ari."

• 1:09:59H. Foley?

  It was me forty dollars.

• 1:10:00Speaker 01

He's on the show thirty-five times.

• 1:10:01Speaker 03

They don't even know how to say his last name.

• 1:10:03H. Foley?

No. No, that's real. That's real. Yeah, I'm every, I mean, I'm really, I really am in a lot of places. I'm doing Austin February first. I'm, I mean, AC, I'm going down there for my annual AC. So, yeah, there's like, there's like thirty or forty cities up. Um, yeah.
