West Pop and Congregation, it's your girl Lacey Mosley, AKA Scam Goddess, back with another installment of the podcast all about robbery, fraud, and those who practice it. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we hate them. We don't know. We'll figure out along the way, child. So today I have one of my favorite women on the show. She is one of, and co-host of I've Had It, a comedy podcast that I know you've heard of, that exposes you, the listener, to realize all the things that you've had it with. Her and her co-host Angie Sullivan have a book, y'all. Life is a lazy susan of shit sandwiches. Okay, what a title. From the title already, you know it's about to be lit. If you haven't read it already, it came out on May 27th, so get it wherever

• 3:06Laci Mosley?

you get your books. And look, y'all, you know this queen can absolutely school you on all things interior design. Congregation, please welcome this beautiful boss queen, Jennifer Welch, to the show. Jennifer, it's so good to see you.

• 3:20Speaker 05

Lacey, it's so good to see you. You know, you won my heart when you came to our show in San Francisco, and we met, and you walked backstage and just immediately did the full splits, and I immediately fell in love with you.

• 3:32Laci Mosley?

That was such a good time. I love, if you haven't been to an I've Had It live show, you are missing out. They are so much fun. And the crowd was so, like, riled up and lit. I was like, did we give these people something, though? It was just y'all. You gave them you and Angie, and it was fantastic. Oh, my goodness. So I do have to ask you, and I know you're gonna have an opinion, because you always do, and I love seeing your viral opinions all the time on my timeline, but I do have to ask you, are there any scams that you've had it with, or any scams that you've seen, anything that's interesting to you, anything that's been run on you, or that you've run that's past the statute of limitations? Like, I'm curious.

• 4:11Speaker 05

I'll tell you today, I got a text, and it was like, The DMV alert, you have an unpaid ticket warrant. And it went on and on and it linked like the, I live in Oklahoma. So it was like the Oklahoma.gov. And it was pretty, and I figured it was scam. But then Angie got the text at the same time and so did my son. And so, you know, these people are running these scam rackets. And I think some people are like, oh shit, did I pay my ticket? Or what's going on? And so I think a lot of people fall prey to that.

• 4:43Laci Mosley?

A lot of people do. I got the same text. And what they try to do is give you some urgency as well. And we talk about that a lot on this podcast. They'll be like, you have an unpaid parking ticket. And if you don't pay it in the next 72 hours, we're gonna impound your car and take it to the lot and we go beat your ass. So you better pay up. And I mean, if you're not paying attention or if you're in a rush, then these scams can absolutely get you. But the DMV has never made it easy to pay anything. So if y'all get this text, just remember that, that core memory, that core feeling you have every time you have to go to hell, which is the DMV. Okay, they make you sit, they make you take a little ticket. You're not even getting a sandwich when you leave. They make you take a little ticket.

• 5:26Laci Mosley?

And then you gotta sit there and then wait for your little number to come up. And there's cough, people are coughing all wild in the open and shit. Nobody uses an elbow or a tissue or even their hand. And there's babies running around and people are arguing. There's a knife fight happening outside. You know, the DMV is the most aggravated place and you are sitting there to give them your money. So they will never text you and be like, here's a convenient way for you to pay this ticket, cuz we care about you.

• 5:52Speaker 05

Exactly. I mean, it is the most, you know, like it's the armpit of hell, the DMV. And they're not that organized nor that ambitious to facilitate an easy way for you to make a payment. Total racket.

• 6:06Laci Mosley?

I feel like if you were to work at the DMV, if you wanna work at the DMV or if you're down bad and you need a job, y'all, I feel like you at least need to lie and say you work for Spirit Airlines first. I feel like those are the same type of customer service people. They're like, I'm meeting everyone on the worst day of their life. So I don't even have any empathy for y'all no more cuz I have to hold some for myself.

• 6:26Speaker 05

Exactly, exactly. That is hilarious. Spirit Airlines, that is so true.

• 6:31Laci Mosley?

Right, or you gotta be a triage doctor. I saw the pit. You can't be having emotions all the time. Like, that's where you work. Yes, I, cause I couldn't do it. I would be feeling bad for everybody. I mean, if you listen to this podcast for long enough, you know, I had a lady at the DMV. Do you know how bad you have to be at adulting to have like a go to girl at the DMV?

• 6:52Speaker 05

You had your own lady at the DMV?

• 6:53Laci Mosley?

Yes, I would always try to get in her line and the wildest thing is, is like, it was just to get my registration from Texas to California. And every time I would come in, they'd be like, you're missing Form C. You didn't sign Form B. Back of the line.

• 7:10Laci Mosley?

And it got to the point where I come in and I had all the forms, right? I was like, this is my moment. And they were like, oh, Ms. Gladys retired. And I was like, what?

• 7:18Speaker 05

Oh, no. Oh, no, Lacey. No, that's, yeah, that's, it is really awful. It's an awful experience and I'm just shocked that a lot of that isn't more streamlined, like to do online.

• 7:31Laci Mosley?

Right, because you can pay your registration online, but only to a certain point. If it gets too delinquent and they're like, this is your punishment, you gotta come inside.

• 7:43Speaker 05

It's so true. It is so true. It is really like rock bottom adulthood to have to go to the DMV.

• 7:50Laci Mosley?

Oh, gosh, I hope I never have to go again. I try to do everything the right way now. Cause I was like, I never want to see those people again and they don't want to see me. I, I think the feeling's mutual.

• 7:58Speaker 05

  Yeah, I totally agree.

• 8:00Laci Mosley?

But yes, guys, if you get a text message, they're doing the DMV one. They're, so that's the one with the parking tickets. So I have the violation notice for the unpaid toll. I have that ticket right here and it came from alexanderb dot or dash A R Z H E L T at F1 dash F7 dot com. You know, that's definitely legit. I need to pay him because for sure that, that's a real thing. I feel like I've been getting another one too. It's not the DMV, but it's something similar. Um, I want to see if I can find it real quick. If I can't, oh no, I got a Texas State Department of Motor Vehicles one.

• 8:43Laci Mosley?

And then I was getting one that was talking about a charge on PayPal that I needed to resolve.

• 8:50Speaker 05

Yes, I've seen that one too.

• 8:52Laci Mosley?

Yes, they're, they're, they're working overtime now to fish and I get at least seven or eight spam phone calls every morning and I need to know who sold my information.

• 9:02Speaker 05

Lacey, the spam phone calls are out of control in the last eight days since I committed to come on this chart topping podcast of yours. It's like the universe knew that I was coming. So I've been getting all these spam texts and the spam calls are like, I would say 10 a day. I'm not exaggerating. So finally I just had it. So I'm like, you know what? I'm going to answer. I'm going to answer and I'm going to chew this person out. So I answered and it says spam call and answer. I'm like, hello?

• 9:31Speaker 05

And I'm like, hello? And then all of a sudden a robot voice said back to me, goodbye, click. I'm like, what? Are they just prank calling now? Like, why? You just called me to say goodbye? Like, and then I thought, and then I started getting crazy. I was like, oh my God, I wonder if it's the Trump administration like trying to hack into my phone.

• 9:50Speaker 05

Paranoid because they're always doing crazy, evil shit all day, every day. Like, why would a spam caller call me to just say goodbye?

• 9:58Laci Mosley?

Yeah, we truly are living in the era of the cartoon villa villain, excuse me. And I, I want to say at that point, I would be scared too. If I picked up and said hello and it was like, we got all we need. Goodbye. Like, no, what?

• 10:10Speaker 05

It really freaked me out for like an hour. So I was like, what is that? I wonder if they hacked into my phone. I mean, is this like Edward Snowden style stuff? Like, what's going on here? So yeah, that's creepy.

• 10:20Laci Mosley?

Yeah, it's really creepy. And now I'm getting like five or six a day. And like, look, some of those scam likely claws are me, Jennifer. So pick up because I'm trying to chat.

• 10:29Speaker 05

But you know what I do now, Lacey? I've turned into such a bitch. So when you go to like, say you're at Lululemon or some like the Gap or just some store. And at the checkout, they're like, we need your phone number. I always now say, I'm sorry, I don't give my phone number out. And then the poor person that works there kind of looks me and they're like, well, we have to be able to link it. And I'm like, I just don't want my phone number given out. And they're like, okay, can we have your email address? And I'm like, that's going to be a no as well. Like I, and the reason is I don't want you to have my information because I don't trust, not the clerk with my information, but the corporation with my information, because what they're doing is double dipping. These corporations are double dippers. We go in and we buy the stuff for them that we just think we have to have. And then they get our information and then they sell it on the

• 11:13Speaker 05

side for a little sugar on top. And I'm on to them and I'm not giving my information out anymore.

• 11:18Laci Mosley?

You put it so perfectly. They do want you to have a store, club card, or whatever, just because they want to make sure they can track your buying habits and your spending purchases and things like that by demo and stuff. And it's like, yeah, you're right. They're selling our information with a little sugar. They get a little sugar on top.

• 11:33Speaker 05

  They're double trickering.

• 11:35Laci Mosley?

Yeah. I tell people, don't donate in the store to any charity, because who's getting that write-off? Not you. Like, don't do it. Donate to that same charity and put your own name in and write it off on your taxes. But all that roundup stuff, we know what you're doing. We know what you're doing.

• 11:50Speaker 05

Oh, the roundup stuff is the biggest racket on the planet. Pumps and I were at, we went Halloween shopping for costumes a couple of years ago, right after the podcast came out. So we went to this Halloween shop and we bought these nun costumes, right? We decided we were gonna be naughty nuns on the podcast. A little bit of blasphemy, right? So we go up to the checkout counter and she says, she literally looked us in the face. She's, would you like to donate to the babies? And I'm like, look around, like,

• 12:18Laci Mosley?

  The babies?

• 12:20Speaker 05

What babies? And she was like, the babies with cancer. So then, that pissed me off, because then you feel like an asshole if you say no. I'm like, what do you mean the babies with cancer? And she's like, well, it's this institution. I said, no, I'm not good. I don't have time to research it. I don't think I want to donate to the babies right now. Not that I don't have empathy for, you know, child cancer. It's terrible.

• 12:40Laci Mosley?

  It is.

• 12:41Speaker 05

Doubt that my situation at the Halloween shop buying the naughty nun costume was going to solve said problem. And so then she said, do you want to round up at the end? And it was like 75 cents or something. And because I already felt like I was getting so hustled and shamed, I said, yes. Then Pumps and I get in the car and we rile each other up so easily. I was like, can you believe she asked us to round up? Do you think we should turn around and go back and ask for that 75 cents back? Of course, we didn't. But then we launched a full investigation into it and those charities barely received. See any of that money. It's all a ruse.

• 13:18Laci Mosley?

It really is. And I'm sorry, the babies? She couldn't try a little harder than general baby? Like, would you like to help the needy? Okay, who's needing it? The store? Or like, what is that? That's too vague for me.

• 13:32Speaker 05

  I

• 13:33Laci Mosley?

Yeah, and you're also not just gonna take a tax write-off off of me and not give the money to where it's actually going. We have no way of checking. We have no way of going back to Walgreens and being like, hey, Mr. Wal, uh, did you get my 32 cents? And where did it go?

• 13:48Speaker 05

And do we really trust these corporations? I mean, do we really trust these corporations that act like they are the ultimate victims? And here's the truth about all of these corporations. Walmart, Walgreens, all of that. They pay their employees minimum wage. Nobody can live off of minimum wage in the United States of America. So then they have to go to the government and get assistance, Medicare, SNAP, food stamps, et cetera. So we, the taxpayers, are subsidizing these corporations for not paying their employees a livable wage. And so this is corporate welfare. And then what do the rich people do? They say, oh, look at all these people on food stamps. Look at how lazy they are. So it is just, it's gross.

• 14:32Speaker 05

I don't trust corporations at all. It's all about shareholders making money and dicking over the customer at every chance they can get. And I don't believe they're charitable.

• 14:41Laci Mosley?

No, not at all. But me personally, I love Daddy Corporation. Daddy Corporation, if you're listening, sponsor the show.

• 14:51Laci Mosley?

You my favorite daddy. You're so kind to all of us. Obviously, I'm being facetious here.

• 16:31Laci Mosley?

Let's get into our first segment here. Historic hoodwinkings. This is where I'm going to regale Jennifer with a con, caper, group of criminals. We'll get her opinions all throughout. Maybe we love them. Maybe Jennifer has had it with them. I don't know yet. We're going to see. So today, we're talking about a regular British lady. Now, why we got to just be calling her regular? Because she looks cute. Like, it's not giving regular. Like, it's definitely giving 1980s hair, but not regular. Like, this photo, it looks like it was taken, she was like, oh, snap a pic, girl, like, right before they went to the club. Because I've noticed her hair didn't look like that afterwards.

• 17:09Laci Mosley?

So, we're talking about Juliet. And she spent more than 10 years pretending to be a faith healer who had a special connection to a source of power deep in the Amazon rainforest. Now, what do we think about, just off of the photo alone, of Juliet, Jennifer? Do we think she has a source of power from the Amazon?

• 17:29Speaker 05

No. I don't think she has any source of power. This, she's giving 1980s Studio 54 Walk of Shame vibes. It's kind of what I'm getting. Like, maybe she just shagged Mick Jagger, maybe an early Donald Trump, maybe did a too much blow, and she's walking back. That's the vibe I'm picking up here.

• 17:51Laci Mosley?

She shagged Mick Jagger and then stole his hairstyle through osmosis.

• 17:55Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 17:57Laci Mosley?

And she's definitely giving like she was on that good white powder before they they started putting other stuff in it. They like I don't I don't know if I believe she went to the rainforest and if she did or the Amazon jungle rather. I I how does that? How does that mean that you're like? Someone who I should take spiritual advice from? I guess I've never been to the Amazon. So you could tell me anything's happening there and I guess I have no choice but to believe you because I've never been. I'm not gonna go and investigate.

• 18:25Speaker 05

Well, you know, I think that and the Amazon, there's some of these indigenous tribes and they do like ayahuasca. And they're incredibly spiritual and like in touch with the earth and there's probably a lot of magical thinking. And they probably do cast spells and do kind of cool, you know, magic stuff. I don't know that they have said power. I know that people that take psychedelics think they have a lot of superpower until the trip wears off. And that's the kind of vibe I'm getting from this lady.

• 18:54Laci Mosley?

Yeah, it's definitely giving like she has a wooden spoon and she's making everybody like sip from a cauldron. Yeah. And then you're just like throwing up in the woods and you have a spiritual experience. That's what ayahuasca means to me. Um, I just have never wanted to. Have you ever tried it?

• 19:10Speaker 05

No, I have never tried it. I mean, I did recreational drugs when I was probably in high in high school, in college, like sophomore, junior year. I did mushrooms once, total blast. And one time with my gay guy friends, we went to the gay bars. Had the best time ever. I did ecstasy once. Ended up hovering over a toilet all night. And then I tried LSD one time. So all of these were one and done. And the LSD was miserable, like it lasted for 10 hours. And then I had all of 19 years old and I had all of these like hallucinations and I felt like these birds were coming to attack me.

• 19:49Laci Mosley?

  Oh damn, not tippy head.

• 19:51Speaker 05

Yeah, it was total tippy head. It was totally like the birds. And I felt like, when is this gonna end? Because and so out of the three, the mushrooms totally fun. I've never done ayahuasca. That was the extent, aside some marijuana smoking of my experimentational experimentation drug use. Um, but um, never ayahuasca.

• 20:10Laci Mosley?

Yeah, me neither. There's just something about them being like, every time someone tries to sell Hiwaskin to me, they're like, yes, you throw up and then you poop in the woods and then you have and I'm like, you got me evacuated my body in, in, in company. I think I'm okay on that.

• 20:26Speaker 05

The idea that a sales pitch for Hiwaskin is communal diarrhea and vomiting. I've had it with that. This, this brings me to the whole, when everybody's trying to pitch, you gotta go to Burning Man. I'm like, I do not want to go to Burning Man around a bunch of people on a bunch of drugs that haven't bathed. I don't want any part of it. I'm happy that you want to do it. I support you doing it. I have FOMO of my bed. I fear missing out my evening in my bed, doing my stuff. Like to be with that many people, I'm out, totally out on all that.

• 21:02Laci Mosley?

Same. They're like, it's a barter system and you know, it's, we're in the desert and it's hot. And I was like, you're not selling it for me. Like you can't bathe anywhere. Okay. And like, I'm like, I'm waiting for the good part. Like, tell me when it gets good. Cause if you think about selling any other product, like if I were like, oh, we have a brand new body splash and it makes you throw up and shit, but then you feel like, I'm like, no, I'm good. Like I don't, you, you lost me. You lost me. I do, I do mushrooms and it's very LA because my shaman, his name is Cameron and he's a white dude who drives like an old Honda.

• 21:41Laci Mosley?

But um, he's spiritual to me. Okay. He's spiritual to me. Uh, but he definitely, I was like, my shaman, Cameron. And I was like, I don't think you can, I think you have to change your name if you want to be a shaman. It can't just be like my shaman, Tom. Like you gotta spice it up for me. My shaman, Candace. No, it doesn't work for me.

• 22:03Speaker 05

  Excellent. Sure. You're a shaman.

• 22:05Laci Mosley?

I feel like I could make Jennifer my shaman, though. Like, your name, I could be like, Henefer. Like, if I just, just add a little Spanish on the J. Henefer, my shaman.

• 22:16Speaker 05

Microdose, do you do the psilocybin microdosing?

• 22:20Laci Mosley?

So, I don't like the gummies and stuff. I feel like they're too engineered in a lab. That's why I like my shaman. He just put it in some chocolate and there's, it's nice packaging. It tells you how much is the dose, microdose, a trip. I don't do it regularly, but if I'm going to like a cool concert or something like, I don't drink anymore. So, I, I'll be like, oh, okay, you know, I, I'll try this and like have a fun experience and I won't be hungover or say anything weird, so.

• 22:45Speaker 05

That was the thing about mushrooms. So, when I did them, I was probably 20, 21. And so, I'm with all these queens and we all eat them. And then we go to the gay bars and I mean, the, like, we were giggling and I would just be like looking at one of the guys. His name was Drew and all of a sudden his face, it would go from like white to purple to yellow to pink. And then I would just be dying laughing, lasted maybe three or four hours, no hangover, no nothing. It was the most fun drug I've ever, I mean, way better than alcohol. I don't drink anymore either. I mean, I'm 50 years old, I haven't done a drug in 30 years. But back in the day, in the 90s, when I would get my scissors out and cut a rug out on the floor with all the gay men.

• 23:25Laci Mosley?

  Yes.

• 23:26Speaker 05

Blast, had a blast. And that mushroom night, god, that was so fun.

• 23:31Laci Mosley?

Yes, and this has been an advertisement for our sponsor, Philosipilin. No, um.

• 23:39Laci Mosley?

But so, back to Juliette, which also not giving me like shaman-y vibes that name Juliette, but maybe she was like Julieta. And then I'm like, I'm on board. So, she convinced 11 victims to hand over a total of $1 million and promised to solve all their problems by nailing their cash to a tree in the South American jungle. Saying that you're gonna nail my cash to a tree in a place that you and I know I will never see?

• 24:10Speaker 05

I mean, that's, so did she get 11, did she get $1 million from all 11 people? Or $1 million in total?

• 24:19Laci Mosley?

In total, from 11 people, she got a million dollars.

• 24:21Speaker 05

Like a hundred grand, like, everybody's coughing up 90 to 100 grand per person.

• 24:26Laci Mosley?

And if she says she's gonna nail it to a tree, that means that I can't like, zell you and are you gonna, if I zell you, are you gonna print out the transfer and then nail that to the tree? Or do I have to give it to you in cash for the tree? What's going on?

• 24:38Speaker 05

She's nailing it to something, but she ain't nailing it to a tree. That's for damn sure. People are getting nailed, no question about it. They are getting bent over and nailed like nobody's business, but nothing's going to a tree. I doubt she's even going to South America. Total racket. But what amazes me about this, Lacey, is that people buy it. We read this article on our podcast the other day, I've had it, where they were selling,

• 25:06Speaker 05

lots to build your home in heaven.

• 25:09Laci Mosley?

  Ooh, that's a good one.

• 25:11Speaker 05

Yeah, you'll have to look it up. There, some church, some preacher somewhere was selling a place where you could build your heavenly home. And I thought, my God, that is a total racket. And I think Juliet here, Julieta, it's the, you know, it's the same.

• 25:27Laci Mosley?

  It's the same thing.

• 25:28Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 25:28Laci Mosley?

And now you got me thinking, if there's lots in heaven, like, what if, what if I decide to go to black people heaven? Is it gonna get gentrified? Like, the angels just gonna fly in and then start making-

• 25:38Speaker 05

  But they were just flying.

• 25:39Laci Mosley?

Artisanal coffee shops and stuff, and I'm flapping my wings like, what the hell?

• 25:43Speaker 05

You wanna live around a bunch of stuffy ass white MAGA Trumpers? Doubt it. Can I get the demographics on that neighborhood? And I need the voting record of everybody in that neighborhood. Where were they on January 6th? Can you answer that question for me?

• 25:56Laci Mosley?

Exactly. I'm like, did y'all see? Gabriel told me my fence is too high and the HOA is gonna take my shit.

• 26:05Laci Mosley?

  Can you believe this?

• 26:06Speaker 05

Is that not just, and that's so crazy, you know, it's, it's like, I'm so glad that you do this on the podcast, on your podcast, Exposing Scams, because this is what amazes me about what's going on in the United States right now. You're talking about, you know, little Juliet, I'm telling you about this preacher that's, you know, got the lots in heaven racket. And I understand crazy con people in solitude, you know, like one person, she got 11 victims, right?

• 26:31Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 26:31Speaker 05

Creature, let's say gets a thousand, right? And then you have these large scale con men, and we're living in it, man. And it's just amazing how susceptible people can be to fall prey to these type of scams. But the biggest scam on the planet that has been perpetrated in this country is that if somebody is rich, they are smart.

• 26:52Laci Mosley?

  Oh, my goodness.

• 26:54Speaker 05

That that one pisses me off because everybody just assumes that Elon Musk is so smart. And everybody just assumes that Donald Trump is smart because we worship money so much. When you hear either one of them in an interview, you're like, wait a minute, that's smart? Are you kidding me? It's crazy.

• 27:12Laci Mosley?

I always just say like, you know, there's people who are musical geniuses out there that I'm like, there's no doubt that you know more about an instrument or sound than I do. Now, would I let you operate on my heart? No. Like, everyone can have specific areas of expertise. It doesn't mean they know everything. And being good at making money doesn't mean that you're good at everything. But we definitely take it that way. And I think it's it's sad because it means that our self esteem is so tied to how much that we produce and how much money we make because so you just think you stupid because you were born in a poor socioeconomic situation? Like, how is that your fault? But, you know, I mean, that's that's how grifters get over.

• 27:54Laci Mosley?

They tell you they're going to remove all the negativity from your life, like Julieta, and they're going to bring you so much in return. And so people believed this. 11 people believed that this woman, the one that we're looking at, when y'all see her, you're going to think about all of those like memes of like when they're like, oh, that's when they had the good cocaine in the 80s and all the white people are on beat. It's like, look, all the white people on beat, they had that good stuff back then. I don't know where the rhythm went, but you're gonna, she was right there on beat with these people.

• 28:22Speaker 05

  Yeah, totally.

• 28:24Laci Mosley?

Julieta claimed to have been born on an airplane, still wrapped in the membrane from her mother's womb. A lucky omen, she said, that gave her special gifts as... Okay, she said that she was a seer. So, a seer to me is like traitors. Like, I, that's what I'm thinking of, when I think of like, what a seer is. If you know, you know. But so she lived in North London and told people she was an Oxford-educated shaman. Oh, not my word coming in here. Don't talk about my shaman Cameron, okay? He's doing the right thing. So, she said that she was Oxford-educated and a shaman who had treated Princess Diana

• 29:07Laci Mosley?

and Simon Cowell. Because those are definitely held in the same esteem.

• 29:15Speaker 05

I need to get back to the conditions of her birth. What were the details of that with me again?

• 29:21Laci Mosley?

So I did, in an airplane.

• 29:23Speaker 05

Airplane? She was born in an airplane in, in what, her what membrane?

• 29:27Laci Mosley?

So the call membrane from her mother's womb was still like around her, like wrapped around her. So she was still in the membrane when she was born on the plane. So she was born at 35,000 feet and also encased in her mother's womb sack.

• 29:45Speaker 05

Oh, so she came out in the sack, is what she's claiming, on an airplane?

• 29:50Laci Mosley?

Yeah, so she said, because of the altitude and the sack, I have special powers.

• 30:00Speaker 05

And then the, the Oxford education is that, is she claiming that she was taught how to be a shaman at Oxford? Or?

• 30:10Laci Mosley?

I think she's just saying that she has an Oxford education. Because she, I think she's saying that you can't teach shaman. You have to be born in the sky. She was like...

• 30:19Speaker 05

  You can't coach that.

• 30:20Laci Mosley?

  No.

• 30:20Speaker 05

  You cannot coach that.

• 30:22Laci Mosley?

She said, I'm the last, my mom was the last lady who could be born or have birth in the sky. After that, they started checking pregnant women and having them provide doctor's notes of how far along they were. But I... Y'all were born on ground level. I don't know anything about that.

• 30:36Speaker 05

  Is she British?

• 30:38Laci Mosley?

I'm guessing so, um, but she at least went to Oxford and she says that she treated Princess Diana, I don't know what for, and Simon Cowell. So, you know, two people equal high regard. If you were interested in meeting Simon, Simon Cowell, she could set that up. So if you love American Idol and William Hung, she bang, she bang, in exchange for some of my shamanness, you can meet Simon Cowell. Why is Simon in it?

• 31:08Speaker 05

What's she doing dragging Simon? What's she doing dragging Princess Diana into it at postmortem?

• 31:13Laci Mosley?

Yeah, if you're a real shaman, tell me I can meet Lady Di. Make that happen. I feel like anybody could meet Simon Cowell. I feel like that's not as hard as we think.

• 31:22Speaker 05

Now, I do think that Princess Diana did see psychics. And so this grifter, Juliette, may have read about Princess Diana. Because if you're my age, you kind of grew up, she was like the ultimate influencer. Princess Diana was before we had influencers. So we all knew about her. And I remember that she went to some psychics and I especially read about that after her death and the Andrew Moore. So this lady could be piggybacking on that Princess Diana did see a psychic or two because she was so tortured in love, you know, Charles always taking her over, you know, screwing Camilla. And then she had this doctor boyfriend, Diana. So she went to see a psychic. And so this lady probably read that and has tried to use that to lend credibility.

• 32:06Speaker 05

Because sometimes a little bit of what she's saying is true.

• 32:09Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 32:10Speaker 05

But, but she's completely lying. I doubt Princess Diana ever saw her. But I do believe you can fact check. I'm pretty sure Princess Diana saw a psychic or two.

• 32:19Laci Mosley?

That's how you craft a good lie, is you base it in a little bit of truth. And it even makes you a better liar for all those aspiring liars out there.

• 32:31Laci Mosley?

We're giving you some tips. But, okay, so I think you're right that she was like, oh, you know what? These psychics that Lady Di saw or were rumored to see, I was one of them. Because we don't know the psychic's name. Typically, when someone says that, oh, she loves to go see a psychic, we never know the name of the psychic. So who are we to say? She said also that she had helped cure the actor John Cleese's daughter of cancer. So she says she did that. Not the doctors, not chemo. She said, I came in, I was like, let me get into my membrane real quick.

• 33:09Speaker 05

Let me dig into my little sack of tricks.

• 33:12Laci Mosley?

Right, I'm thirty-five thousand feet. I'm getting the Biscoff cookies. I'm flying Delta.

• 33:19Speaker 05

You know, Delta has Shake Shack on their flights.

• 33:22Laci Mosley?

I don't know if I want flight attendants heating up Shake Shack. I don't know how I feel about that.

• 33:27Speaker 05

That's how I feel. I think Shake Shack needs to be at the Shake Shack.

• 33:30Laci Mosley?

Yeah, on the ground. It's a shack. I don't need a shack in the sky. That's too high up for the shack.

• 35:14Laci Mosley?

So basically, she had a fake degree from Oxford. Fake business cards claiming she was a trained lawyer with a practice on a popular shopping street in London. And she said her sister was David Cameron's personal assistant. David Cameron was the Prime Minister of the UK from 2010 to 2016. So I do want to say that when you're saying that you knew Lady Di, that era is still the business card era. Hell, when I was growing up, I think my first acting headshots, they came with like free business cards that you could print your headshot on and put your information. And now, as an adult, I look at that and I'm like, I was really running around with photos

• 35:58Laci Mosley?

of my face and information of where I could be contacted.

• 36:02Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 36:03Laci Mosley?

I was begging to be abducted.

• 36:05Speaker 05

Totally, totally. But that's what we did. I mean, that was just the whole vibe. I remember when I first started my interior design business a long time ago, I had a Rolodex, you know, that you just flipped. And then I would get somebody else's business card and I would staple it to one of the cards on the Rolodex. And a lot of them had, you know, pictures. Realtors are notorious. They always have their pictures on their business card. Yeah, totally.

• 36:28Laci Mosley?

And they love a bus bench. I don't know what Realtor was like, this is the thing that we do. And everybody was like, yes, we will follow suit. We will also have bus benches.

• 36:37Speaker 05

  They do.

• 36:38Laci Mosley?

It was a thing. And honestly.

• 36:42Laci Mosley?

If someone handed you a business card at a certain time in the world, you wouldn't question it. You'd be like, wow, this person is so professional that they went to a Kinko's and printed out a piece of paper and said, this is who I am. I wouldn't look any further. I would believe that.

• 36:58Speaker 05

No, you're exactly right. I think that there was an acceptance that we all had that if somebody had a card printed up and handed it to you, that there was a legitimacy to it. Like, oh, well, this is legit. Ooh, she even had a headshot for it.

• 37:12Laci Mosley?

  Exactly.

• 37:13Speaker 05

You know, you rarely would question it.

• 37:15Laci Mosley?

Because why would you take that much time to lie? You're telling me you really got on Microsoft Paint and asked the paperclip, you know, to move. And then you're telling me that you put a photo next to text and it didn't completely dishevel all the text when you tried to move the photo just a little bit to the left? Like, you had all this patience. Like, I absolutely believe everything that you're trying to sell me right now. But obviously, in the case of Julietta, none of this was true. In reality, she was an ex-cleaner, a former receptionist, and temp from Guyana, which is in the British West Indies. She just had a way with words. Now, I will say, she jumped around a lot. She was an ex-cleaner, then she was a former receptionist and temp.

• 37:56Laci Mosley?

So it's giving you're not good at your job. It's giving you're constantly late and we know that you're stealing all the coffee creamer. Like, it's giving you can't hold down employment because we went from cleaning. Clearly, I think things were not clean when you came over. Then you were a receptionist. Those phones were ringing off the hook and you probably weren't taking good little notes to get calls. And then she goes to temp. When you go to temp, that means that you were either in between jobs and you're just trying to hold something down, or you're a type of person that temporarily can work at a place before people find out that you're bad at it.

• 38:32Speaker 05

Totally. You know, what do you think that the common thread in all of the grifters and scam artists that you expose is it some, like, at the core inferiority complex? Is it, you know, brokenness? Have you found any common link? And what is the impetus that causes them to become just such blatant? Liars and the lack of empathy to their victims in whom they scam.

• 39:02Laci Mosley?

So it depends. There are scammers who just are opportunistic. They see a weak link in the system. They see that the windows cracked a little bit. And so they go ahead and push it up and climb inside the house and, you know, burglarize. And those are victims of circumstances and those tend to be the scammers that I enjoy more because they tend to scam up. They tend to take from people who are already taking so much from us. But then you have your god complex scammers who are really in it for the control. And they, and those are the people who get caught because they can't just stop. It's like when you're at the casino and you hit and you hit and you hit and you get all of these winnings. And then you just keep playing until you give it all back to the house because you just enjoy the high

• 39:45Laci Mosley?

of thinking you got over, you won, you tricked these people. And I think there is a bit of like control and manipulation there. And so it could be that you don't feel like you have control in your own life. But I do think there's different types of scammers and definitely different leagues of thought here.

• 40:02Speaker 05

Definitely. That makes perfect sense. And I agree with you on the ones that scam up being a little bit more enjoyable.

• 40:09Laci Mosley?

Yeah. And I think with Julietta, it was that she just didn't really like being poor. She was like, this is not for me. I wasn't born to be this. Like, some people should just be rich. Like, you know, you meet rich people and they're really tacky and they have no taste and they don't know what to do with their money. Like, she wasn't that. Like, it's giving like, I was born to be rich and like, I'm gonna make it cute. Like, I'm gonna buy,

• 40:34Laci Mosley?

I'm gonna buy all the good things, okay? I'm gonna get the book, Life is a Lazy Susan of Shit Sandwiches, and my house is gonna be cunt. So I,

• 40:45Laci Mosley?

I live. I live for it. The other thing that I wanted to say about her before I move on is that temp agencies made me think of, The fact that I worked for a temp agency for a little while, and obviously I have some scam tendencies. I have too many jobs. It's like, what is she doing with her life? It's, I don't scam people in them, but still. It's like, why do you have so many jobs? Why are you a serial entrepreneur? I worked for a temp agency once, and I had to fill out a survey before, like, getting the job. It was just like one of the things that was a part of it. And some of the jobs were restaurant jobs, some were catering, some were answering phones. But the common thread was this survey. And in the survey, it would be like, ask me questions about your working style.

• 41:29Laci Mosley?

We all know what you're supposed to put on those. Like, oh, are you timely? Push one to five. Five being, I'm late as hell. Or one being, I'm early. Like, I'm gonna get there and sleep in my car till you open up. And there was one question that came up that was like, have you ever done methamphetamines? And this was a yes or no. And I was like, no. And then it was like, how often do you do methamphetamines? And I was like, never. And then it was like, do you, would you describe your meth use as casual or frequent? It was, it just kept asking me questions about meth. And I was like, this is really weird.

• 42:14Laci Mosley?

And I think it was like, they thought maybe they could trick people who were using meth to be like, oh, I said never here. Okay, well, it seems like they're cool with me doing meth, so I'll say I'm a dabbler. Like, what is this?

• 42:25Speaker 05

So they're trying to checkmate the meth user?

• 42:29Laci Mosley?

I feel like meth users are gonna work very hard at temp agencies. So, they're not sleeping. But it just reminded me, it was a core memory unlocked when I read temp agency of like, that agency that just kept asking me about meth. I think they were trying to trick me.

• 42:43Speaker 05

Put any meth in your coffee?

• 42:45Laci Mosley?

Right, just a little bit. From one to five, how much meth do you use a day? Like, what do you mean? So let's get into the victims. So each of Juliet's victims was a vulnerable person in some way. She got to them while their marriages were collapsing, or they were struggling to get pregnant, or burnt out, and worked each of them over several years. So it wasn't like she got the 100K from each person, or however much from each person, like, in one transaction. She was working these people over. One woman was in the early stages of dementia. That is horrible. So she placed ads for her shaman services in the back of a Tattler magazine, offering consultations for 35 pounds. This is definitely happening in the UK,

• 43:31Laci Mosley?

which is pretty affordable, right? She found many of her marks through one key member of the community named Keith Bender. I swear to God, y'all, stop naming your babies Keith, because I haven't, I don't know if I've met a good one. What about Bender? Did he even know her?

• 43:52Laci Mosley?

Listen, we know Juliet was getting nailed. That girl, I thought he was nailing her, Keith. Keith? That's what Keiths do. So Keith was an osteopath, which is a kind of alternative medicine practitioner who claims to detect, treat, and prevent health problems by moving, stretching, and massaging a person's muscles and joints. In the UK, it's a regulated profession, but it's not the same thing as going to medical school and becoming an MD. The alternative medicine area meant Keith had some things in common with Juliet off the bat. Because, I don't know. I think osteopathy can definitely work. I do believe in eastern medicine.

• 44:35Laci Mosley?

I will get a cupping situation going on, or some acupuncture. I don't think that a pill in western medicine is always the solution for what ails us, but... There is something about osteopathy and being a chiropractor that I'm like, it's a little scammy. Sometimes it can work.

• 44:53Speaker 05

Okay, I have to tell you something, and you're a listener. Okay. So when I'm not a podcaster, I'm an interior designer. And I had about four years ago, I had two sets of chiropractors that were my clients. They were building new houses. I was doing all the interior design. And so I'm over at one of the client's house one day and her dog is there. And the dog is kind of acting like it doesn't feel well. And she had just gotten the dog. And I was like, oh, is the dog sick? And she said, well, we rescued this dog because it fell prey to vaccines. And rabies vaccine made it really sick. And I was like, God, I've never heard of such a thing. And she said, our other dogs here, see, they're not vaccinated. And I said, you don't vaccinate your dogs?

• 45:37Speaker 05

She goes, no, we don't vaccinate ourselves. Our children know we're completely anti-vax. I thought that was fucking nuts, right? So then about a year later, I have another, that chiropractor referred another chiropractor to me. Same situation. So then I have to go hit the goog and I goog it up. And these chiropractors are notorious anti-vaxers. And so that I didn't know that. And I think that like everything, I think some chiropractic can be beneficial for car wreck victims or what have you. But I'm with you that it teeters on a little bit of a racket. I went to one one time, they rotate you and I was like in for like one minute, they did this pop thing and then out.

• 46:20Speaker 05

And after about two or three visits, I was like, this isn't doing anything. This is a total racket. And if anybody has benefited from it, I don't want to dismiss, you know, they benefited you. But I was shocked as shit. And the situation that everybody has to understand about vaccines, it's completely different than what Lacey was saying about in Western culture, we think a pill can fix everything. I agree with you on that. The pharmaceutical companies are for profit and can be out of control. But as it comes to vaccine, we've literally eradicated measles, like in, in

• 46:53Laci Mosley?

Oh, it's back, baby. Measles is so bad.

• 46:56Speaker 05

It's so back in Trump's America. And it's because of these anti-vaxers. And it's nuts. It's completely, completely nuts. And, and the chiropractors is a hotbed of anti-vax.

• 47:09Laci Mosley?

I think that if you're going to be anti-vax, you have to be anti-hospital as well. Don't call nobody when you get sick, okay? You stay at home and we'll get you some cold compresses and some leeches and you go ahead and pass away from consumption, okay? Um, don't bother, don't inundate the hospital system because all of a sudden, when anything bad happens to us physically, even anti-vaxers will get in the hospital or in an ambulance, they're not asking what's in the IV drip. They're trying to live. They don't want to die. But I'm like, no, no, no. If you're going to commit to it, commit to the bit fully. Don't go to a hospital. Don't get any help ever.

• 47:44Speaker 05

I think we get all of the quote, home researchers, you know, that are doing, I'm conducting my own research. You know, some guy you went to high school with, he was a dipshit in high school and is a dipshit as an adult, who's doing all this research on Facebook. I think at the hospitals, they should have Facebook tents in the parking lot. And, and it should say, if you get your medical advice on Facebook, these are the doctors you see. These are the experts and they're here under these tents in the parking lot. Those of you who believe the physicians and the bodies of, you know, decades worth of research and these doctors that went to medical school for 20 plus years, you can access the hospitals.

• 48:21Laci Mosley?

Okay, Jennifer, don't give me no ideas because I would be in the tent with my ivermectin, like, come on in, next. You're gonna be $300.

• 48:29Speaker 05

Be in there doing ayahuasca with Julieta.

• 48:31Laci Mosley?

  Yes.

• 48:33Laci Mosley?

It's gonna make you, you're gonna poop out and shit out all the disease. And don't worry about it. Don't think too much. Okay? I saw it on Reddit. Now, come on over.

• 48:44Laci Mosley?

So Keith and Juliette meet, right? In the 90s, they become friends. She lent him money while he was going through bankruptcy and a painful divorce. Then she told him she was a shaman and she could tell he had cancer. And he believed her. She paid for him to travel with her to Suriname, a former Dutch colony in South America in 1996. Based on this trip, her story seemed to check out, at least to Keith. He started referring his osteopath patients to her for extra healing services. So now they're working together. It's like Keith gets them for osteopathy. He's giving them the massage. She's telling them where it hurts. And then he's like, you should also see a shaman.

• 49:27Laci Mosley?

That's, I'm gonna write you a prescription for a shaman.

• 49:30Speaker 05

  Double sugar, baby. Double sugaring.

• 49:33Laci Mosley?

Exactly, right. Back to the babies that we need to donate to. General baby. So Juliette told her victims the money was a sacrifice, which would lead to a spiritual offering at a sacred tree in the Amazonian rainforest. There, two other shamans named Pa and Oma would perform rituals around the money before it was sent back and their problems would be resolved. So give me the money and then we gonna go to the forest and we gonna do our forest dance, okay? Like, we gonna do our ritual and then we'll send it back to you.

• 50:11Speaker 05

That is bananas. I wonder if she ever even went to the Amazon.

• 50:16Laci Mosley?

Well, she did take that one trip with Keith. So Keith was convinced that she was an Amazonian lady. And I feel like she just probably watched some Xena Warrior Princess and was like, I have an idea.

• 50:28Speaker 05

Was Juliette and Keith doing high waska in the Amazon? Because I would think that then you could think anybody was anything. That's what I want to know. Were they hitting the high waska in the Amazon?

• 50:38Laci Mosley?

I feel like they just took people's money. Obviously, they didn't go to the Amazon, but they told the people they were gonna be like, "Look, we're gonna take your money and my Amazonian friends, Oma and Opa. We're gonna go out there and be like, "Sha la la la la la la la la la la. Wow di how, how di how. And then we'll bring you your money back and it's gonna heal you." I mean, people did it. She convinced people to make financial sacrifices. And an 83-year-old opera singer is one of these victims. Her name is Sylvia Eves, and she gave up more than $250,000. Keith suggested Giulietta helped her treat her sister Margaret's Crohn's Disease.

• 51:24Laci Mosley?

So we took a trip there. It was Keith. He was like, "Hey, this is great osteopathy for this 83-year-old opera singer. You know who's also gonna help? My homegirl Giulietta. She gonna help your sister with her severe Crohn's Disease by going to the Amazon."

• 51:40Speaker 05

That is wild. So Keith is in on the racket.

• 51:44Laci Mosley?

I mean, obviously, at this point, he trusts Giulietta in some way or another. So one day, look, Sylvia was driven around London by a friend of Giulietta's so she could take out $30,000 in cash installments from separate branches of Barclays and stuff it into manila envelopes that Giulietta used for sacrifices. So somebody was like, "Sylvia, we'll take your old self around town and you can pull out cash from each bank and then put it in envelopes and we're gonna take it to the Amazon and we're gonna twerk on it and then we're gonna bring it back."

• 52:21Speaker 05

That's exactly, I mean, truly, that's exactly what they're saying. "We're gonna go twerk in the Amazon and then we'll bring it back." I hate to be a spoiler alert, but obviously, they never got their money back, right?

• 52:32Laci Mosley?

Yeah, no. And Margaret's sister was not cured, and she passed away. A woman named Ruth Fillingham sold her home because Giulietta said it was spooked. Ruth paid $169,000 from 1998 to 2004 to ward off evil spirits of her deceased, her, I'm sorry, her disease, her deceased brother and save her partner from a non-existent tumor and ensure her eye surgery would be a success, which it was not. Y'all, stop letting people cut on your eyes. LASIK has very bad success rates. That's another scam. Ask your doctor about, uh, here's the thing that we should have all realized about LASIK is

• 53:16Laci Mosley?

if you get LASIK done and your doctor's wearing glasses.

• 53:22Laci Mosley?

  Wait a minute.

• 53:24Speaker 05

I totally agree. That's a great point. You know what's so sad about all that, Lacey, is, you know, as human beings, we just, we want, when we're suffering and faced with our own mortality or somebody we love's mortality, we're willing to do anything to cling on to a little bit more time on earth or to fix a problem. And these sociopaths like Julietta, I mean, just doesn't feel empathy for the victims at all and uses the worst part of their life and it sounds like the latter part of their lives to exploit them.

• 54:03Laci Mosley?

Yeah, and just the fact that she was doing it in such different ways. Like shaman, I don't know what a shaman does specifically. So she had a great grift going here because it's kind of a catch-all for any spiritual thing. She says she can heal diseases. She's gonna make your eye surgery go well. She's gonna cure your sister of Crohn's disease. She, oh, there's a ghost in your house. She went to this lady's house and then ran outside like, ah, the ghost of your brother is in there and he was an asshole. And then she's like, my brother was an asshole. Okay, I paid this shaman. And these are just a few of the people that she did this to. She told a man named Jeff to hand over $195,000 to make sure that he didn't get laid off,

• 54:46Laci Mosley?

but he was still laid off. Now, if you're gonna lose your job, I think you would wanna keep that $195,000 because that seems smart. Another woman who was in the press after she gave Juliet almost $200,000 over three years because this woman was struggling with infertility and.

• 55:04Laci Mosley?

It was just, oh gosh, she even convinced this lady who eventually got pregnant to abort the child because she said the baby was gonna be deformed and the woman did. So Julietta is a special kind of evil. Like, she wasn't just taking the money and running.

• 55:20Speaker 05

Do you think the shaman suggestion, do you think that as human beings, we want to believe in magic? Like, there's this desire that we as a species want to believe in some sort of magic and magic that, you know, meaning that something that can help us that of overcome something that we cannot control. So you have a lot of religions that engage in magical thinking, but the shaman, especially for people of the western, western cultures, there's this allure around it that, oh, a shaman, they know something because they live with the earth, that maybe it lends it credibility because we as people so desperately want to believe in something magical.

• 56:04Laci Mosley?

I think we do because it solves some problems or it alleviates some fears. So we all do hope that there is something magical that can save us in situations where we feel like we can't save ourselves. And look, Julietta wasn't praying for these people. She wasn't exorcising their homes of their dead brother with the bad vibes. She was using this cash to fund an extravagant lifestyle, including designer handbags, luxury holidays, antique furniture. She kept many luxury apartments in the fanciest areas of London and would pay up to a year's rent in advance in cash and occupy several of them at once. She couldn't just have one home. She was like, I need multiple, multiple homes. And Keith would

• 56:47Laci Mosley?

put his name on the rental agreement for four separate apartments for Julietta in London. Now, remember, she paid upfront for the first year in cash, but Keith's name is on the rental agreement. So she went shopping at Cartier, Chanel. Why am I saying these names like I don't know them? She went shopping at Cartier, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and later in a trial, because you know she gets caught, the judge was particularly mad that she bought a $4,000 Hermes bag with the money. Now, why are you mad at that? Were you on the waiting list, Judge, for that Hermes?

• 57:23Laci Mosley?

It's giving hater. It's giving hater. You're like, you got that new Birkin bitch? Put her in the jail. Put her under the jail. You know? I've seen enough.

• 57:37Laci Mosley?

I love being upset about that.

• 57:41Laci Mosley?

So in 2007, to answer your question earlier, Jennifer, Keith believed in Julietta. He went to the Amazon with her. He really thought that, you know, he works in osteopathy. So he believes in some woo woo witchiness. But in 2007, he finally got suspicious that she was lying. She gave him envelopes of cash to pay outstanding bills on their rental properties. The envelopes looked pretty similar to the ones she was supposed to be sending to South America as religious sacrifices. So he was like, wait a minute. These rental apartments are not supposed to be paid for. He thought he actually was helping his clients.

• 58:21Speaker 05

Oh, God, Keith Bender. I mean, Keith Bender.

• 58:28Laci Mosley?

He kind of looks like a goober. Look at him with his toothless smile. That's a smile white people give to black people when they see them on the street like strangers. They're like, hmm, how's it going?

• 58:39Speaker 05

Yeah, no, he's, he's total goob. I mean, no question about it. And he, do you think he was in love with her?

• 58:46Laci Mosley?

Maybe she was a baddie. So she was a bad bitch that you could never kill. While she would steal.

• 58:52Speaker 05

And she was probably pretty hot in a sack. She probably knew, you know.

• 58:55Laci Mosley?

  She gives that.

• 58:56Speaker 05

She probably did have to suck the chrome off of his tailpipe and, you know.

• 59:04Speaker 05

You know, she probably knew how to keep him, you know.

• 59:07Laci Mosley?

Satisfied. And he ended up breaking into one of her apartments that he had co-signed on in London. And he found all. Of this trash, unopened designer bags, and a pet capuchin monkey.

• 59:23Speaker 05

  What?

• 59:24Laci Mosley?

  Who had been smuggled.

• 59:26Speaker 05

Who was taking care of this monkey?

• 59:28Laci Mosley?

Clearly, nobody, because the apartment was trash, and the monkey probably did it. I'm sorry, monkey, you're implicated. Um, I don't think you're innocent, monkey. So Keith also found evil eye symbols painted on the walls, and a new barrister's wig that was still in the box. There were freezers full of rotten meat, which was notable because she told her clients not to eat red meat or drink alcohol, which would invalidate their financial sacrifices. So Keith took pictures of the piles of designer goods and the receipts totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash payments, including a Rolex watch, $63,000 on jewelry and luxury goods,

• 1:00:11Laci Mosley?

  and $40,000 on designer furniture.

• 1:00:14Speaker 05

And then, you know, you think of like, London is one of the most expensive cities in the world.

• 1:00:19Laci Mosley?

Mm-hmm. So Keith tipped off Tim Raymond, a journalist for the Sunday Times, and they tracked down Juliette so they could get her side of the story, only to be followed by powerful police chief boyfriend. Oh, her police chief boyfriend.

• 1:00:38Speaker 05

  Oh, my God.

• 1:00:41Laci Mosley?

And so she had her police chief boyfriend follow them after they were asking questions. And so she ended up getting detained and questioned by officials at the airport. I love when they pick the girls up off the tarmac.

• 1:00:54Speaker 05

And so, oh, my God. This is crazy. But so you're telling me that she had a relationship with the police guy?

• 1:01:03Laci Mosley?

So on Keith's tip, Tim Raymond, a journalist for the Sunday Times, tracked down Juliette and found her to get her side of the story, only to be followed by her powerful police chief boyfriend.

• 1:01:19Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 1:01:19Laci Mosley?

Detained and questioned by officials at the airport. So it sounds like her boyfriend turned on her.

• 1:01:26Speaker 05

Yeah, but it's like, so she has Keith as one boyfriend and then the

• 1:01:30Laci Mosley?

  Right.

• 1:01:31Speaker 05

Chief is another. And so, I mean, despite being like total sociopath criminal mind, I think we have, I think it's called amorous narcissist. You know, they're narcissists that get people to fall in love with them.

• 1:01:46Laci Mosley?

  Yes.

• 1:01:47Speaker 05

That gaslight them and love bomb them and all that. And I guarantee you, Julieta, our little waska eating, just left Studio 54 after doing a bunch of rails with Mick Jagger.

• 1:02:00Laci Mosley?

Why is Mick in it? Mick like, why am I in it?

• 1:02:03Speaker 05

Bender and the police chief. And I bet she thought, okay, I'll have, I'll have a police chief boyfriend in case I get caught. I bet that was a CYA thing, a cover your ass thing.

• 1:02:14Laci Mosley?

I think you're exactly right. It seems like she knew how to get people in a specific position of authority to fall for her. Because if we think about it, the osteopath does hold a sense of authority to some people. They believe in, you know, his homeopathic woo woo woo, I'm gonna give you a massage medicine, right? And then, once that authority figure tells you Julieta is on the up and up, then she's already got her foot through the door. And if you have a police chief that she's also dating, maybe she was trying to cover her ass in CYA, just in case she got caught. So in 2014, 59-year-old Julieta was convicted of 23 counts of obtaining property by deception and fraud. She was sentenced

• 1:02:58Laci Mosley?

to 10 years in the prison. The judge said she had cast a spell over her victims and persuaded them to hand over money, or they would face terrifying consequences, which she did, because remember, she, she was like, oh, you're gonna lose your job if you don't give me this money. Oh, your sister Margaret's gonna die if you don't give me this money. Oh, your dad brother is gonna camp out in your living room of this house if you don't give me that money, or sell that house. The last woman, she told her, if you don't give me that money, you're never gonna have a baby.

• 1:03:32Laci Mosley?

She really preyed on people's fears. And back to what you said, Jennifer, like, why do people invest in spirituality? It's actually to quell those fears.

• 1:03:43Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:03:43Laci Mosley?

And so now you have this woman coming over like, I can stop all this bad stuff from happening. But if you don't give me the money, it's definitely gonna happen.

• 1:03:51Speaker 05

Totally. I mean, that's, you know, in Oklahoma, uh, when I was growing up, there was a preacher by the name of Oral Roberts. And now there's a university in Tulsa called Oral Roberts University. So I had this grandmother that was just meaner than a rattlesnake. I mean, just the biggest bitch you could ever imagine, right? She was a total nut. And she would sit around and watch, you know, like, right wing news and then switch to the evangelical preacher. So you get the kind of white lady I'm talking about, right? And so we go over there one day and she's writing a check to Oral Roberts because he has locked himself up in a tower. And he has said that if I don't get, I think it was a million dollars or 10 million dollars, I can't remember what, if I don't get 10 million dollars,

• 1:04:35Speaker 05

God is going to kill me. And people like my poor grandmother, who was on Meals on Wheels, like.

• 1:04:42Laci Mosley?

Oh, so she can't afford to be giving him money away?

• 1:04:45Speaker 05

Yeah. And she's giving it to this total crook evangelical preacher. And here's what's so messed up about the whole thing. That should have been disqualifying for this man for the rest of his life. Should have gone to prison, the whole nine. He didn't go to prison. In fact, now he has, and I think he's dead now, but i- in his name, there is, he started a university, Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, and it's a D1 school.

• 1:05:10Laci Mosley?

  It's a legitimate school.

• 1:05:12Speaker 05

It's a legitimate school. And this guy is a total con artist that ripped off, just like Giulietta here does. It's crazy how, particularly in this country, white people get away with that shit with impunity. It's unbelievable. I mean, because that should have just, they certainly shouldn't have a university. And he certainly should have gone to jail. It's crazy.

• 1:05:35Laci Mosley?

And I'll take it a step further and say that. As a scammer, you can get away with robbing people blind as long as those people are poor. If you try to Elizabeth Holmes it, like, put your black turtleneck on and give Silicon Valley, you know, a run for their money, they gonna put you under the jail. Like, you're going to federal prison. Yeah, there's tennis courts, but you're gonna be in there. You better hope you get Mark Stewart's old room. Shout out to a baddie and an icon.

• 1:06:03Speaker 05

Lacey, that is such an excellent point that, uh, as long as they're ripping off poor people, nobody really notices and then you can have a university.

• 1:06:13Laci Mosley?

You can have a university, still.

• 1:06:15Speaker 05

That is such a good point.

• 1:06:16Laci Mosley?

Trump had a university, like, the girls will have a university. Um, I will say that the monkey, the capuchin monkey, that, his name was Joey, and I think Joey should have gone to prison too, uh, AKA the zoo. But Joey was rescued by an animal sanctuary where he was rehabilitated and lived for several more years. He was symbolically adopted by actor and comedian Stephen Fry. So, not only did Joey make out like a bandit, he also got to live with a celebrity to end his days. Now, I don't think that this is right because Joey should have went to the zoo. Joey should be locked up and hoping that kids will throw bananas at him because I think Joey was involved.

• 1:06:58Laci Mosley?

Walk with me here. Look at, look at that monkey. Nefarious.

• 1:07:02Speaker 05

Totally. He totally, he was in on the scam. He was part of the whole shaman thing. I bet you he was doing ayahuasca and with, all the stuff. I bet he was vomiting and diarrhea just out.

• 1:07:16Laci Mosley?

  For sure.

• 1:07:17Speaker 05

  Uh huh.

• 1:07:18Laci Mosley?

Because those types of monkeys are really smart. I've worked with one. Um, on iCarly, we had a monkey, and I, I hope I'm saying it right, a capuchin monkey, but we had one, and it was a famous one. It would've been in The Hangover, it had been in all these movies, and it could do flips and drink beers and dance and like, you name it, this monkey could do it. That's why I'm saying, this monkey's too smart. Y'all letting the monkey off the hook because it's a monkey and I don't, I don't believe that it wasn't involved. That's all I'm saying.

• 1:07:42Speaker 05

There always seems to be some rogue monkey in on, in on the hustle.

• 1:07:46Laci Mosley?

Mm-hmm. Monkey stole so much money from people doing flips, running away with it. No, this monkey is not innocent. I'm sorry, that's and that's where I'm gonna end the show is on The Monkey's Not Innocent, No Justice for Joey.

• 1:08:00Laci Mosley?

But thank you so much for being here, Jennifer. This was such a fun time. We always ask at the end of the podcast, where would you like to be found? Anything you want to plug, promote, all of those good things?

• 1:08:10Speaker 05

Yes, you can find me at I've Had It Podcast on all of the platforms and my personal Instagram is Ms. Welch, M I Z Z W E L C H. And the book that Lacey was telling you about, written by myself and my co-host, Life is a Lazy Susan of Shit Sandwiches, chronicles all of our many fuck-ups and how we survived them. It's a great little juicy read. I always haven't had my shit together. Life was messy, but somehow I finally kind of pulled it off at age 50.

• 1:08:39Laci Mosley?

Yes, and you are killing it. I didn't know you were 50, girl. You look great. See, that's what happens when you're unproblematic. You look good, always. Yes. Thank you so much for being here. It's so good to talk to you. And congregation, I want you to get out there and stay. I want you to stay shamening, okay? We could all be a shaman to others in our lives and to ourselves, because what does it even mean? Yeah, stay shamening, okay? Amen.
