• 1:02Drew Afualo?

Hey, you're on Yellowjackets, right? Just wanted to make sure. Okay, cool.

• 1:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:07Drew Afualo?

  Just wanted to make sure.

• 1:08Speaker 03

I am. I am. But that's not me. It's somebody else.

• 1:13Drew Afualo?

  Oh, that's actually so real.

• 1:14Speaker 03

  I know.

• 1:15Drew Afualo?

  You're a thespian at heart.

• 1:16Speaker 03

I know. Okay, I need to really calm down.

• 1:19Drew Afualo?

  You need anything?

• 1:20Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm just gonna have some water for a second.

• 1:22Drew Afualo?

Okay, yeah. And I have weed if you need it.

• 1:25Speaker 03

I can't. If you think this is bad, oh my God. Literally, oh my God, no. One time I smoked, and this is okay, you can add this. One time I, oh no, I didn't smoke. I had an edible. And I remember looking in the mirror and I was like, I thought I was laughing and having a great time. And I looked in the mirror and I'm sobbing. And I'm like, am I crying? My ex was there. Jung scare.

• 1:46Drew Afualo?

Maybe that's why you were crying.

• 1:47Speaker 03

For sure it was. And he was like, you've been crying for two hours. And I was like, oh my God. He's like, I gotta go. I was like, no.

• 1:53Drew Afualo?

Oh, and he thought, I'm gonna leave.

• 1:54Speaker 03

Yeah, no, and he did. And I was like, so you gave me the chocolate and then you said bye.

• 1:58Drew Afualo?

  Right, right, right.

• 2:00Speaker 03

Yeah, the story turns tragic really fast.

• 2:02Drew Afualo?

  Oh my God.

• 2:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:03Drew Afualo?

I would never do that to you.

• 2:04Speaker 03

  Oh, thank you. Thank you.

• 2:06Drew Afualo?

I would never leave you in your moment of need.

• 2:08Speaker 03

I, oh my God, that's like the nicest thing I've heard in so long.

• 2:11Drew Afualo?

If you smoke, if you smoke weed, you turn into your character from Yellowjacket.

• 2:13Speaker 03

Yeah. I get really hungry really quick. Start looking at everybody.

• 2:25Drew Afualo?

Hey everyone and welcome back to another episode of the comment section show starring me, your fave, everybody knows me, ah, who cares about me?

• 2:31Speaker 03

  I do.

• 2:32Drew Afualo?

Onto the guest. Onto the amazing guest, the iconic, the talented, the legendary Samantha Hanratty.

• 2:40Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 2:41Drew Afualo?

Oh my gosh, honored to have you, queen.

• 2:43Speaker 03

  Honored to be here.

• 2:43Drew Afualo?

We were just laughing because you were getting real nervous.

• 2:45Speaker 03

Yes, I get very nervous before things.

• 2:47Drew Afualo?

And you're a main character in Yellowjacket. Got it.

• 2:50Speaker 03

Yes, but that's Misty, like, you know, Samantha is like, ah, you know?

• 2:54Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, you're acting.

• 2:55Speaker 03

  Misty's like, ah.

• 2:57Drew Afualo?

  Two different eh.

• 2:58Speaker 03

  Yeah, exactly.

• 2:59Drew Afualo?

Yeah, two different vibes. But you actually have been in the game for a very long time. You've been a working actress for a minute.

• 3:05Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 3:06Drew Afualo?

And I'm very familiar with your lore. I do have some fun facts about you, which we will get to.

• 3:10Speaker 03

  Oh, I'm excited.

• 3:10Drew Afualo?

But before that, I'd love for you to tell us how you got into acting and how you got into just the entertainment industry as a whole.

• 3:16Speaker 03

Yeah, so I love attention, even though I'm nervous about it, I love attention. So I think that was really like the main thing.

• 3:23Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 3:23Speaker 03

I was two and was like, Mom, I want to be on stage and TV. And she was like, I didn't even know you could talk. Like, I was so, she was like, what? And she was like, no, you know, I'm the youngest of five girls, so like, I think.

• 3:36Drew Afualo?

So you needed the attention bad.

• 3:37Speaker 03

I needed it, yeah. And so, yeah, and then I just kept asking and asking, like, every day. I was like, that's gonna be me, I want to be on stage and TV. I'd watch Shirley Temple and I'd make my mom curl my hair and I'd sing animal crackers in my soup and, you know, I just loved it. And so finally, when I turned six, she was like, we'll give you a shot. And if it doesn't pan out, like, I don't want to hear about it again. And so she gave me my one shot and sent my picture into, like, LA Models or like some sort of like little agency thing. And they called back and were like, we want to meet? We took our little car and it was like, we lived in San Bernardino at the time, so we like took that drive.

• 4:18Speaker 03

And I grew up with very little, like, so like the gas to get to LA was like, we were in, we were in the negatives.

• 4:26Drew Afualo?

That's why your mom was like, make it count.

• 4:28Speaker 03

Yeah, exactly. And I did, I was like, oh, thank God, thank God. Somehow did and they were like, great, you've got six runway shows lined up and audition for a commercial. I booked the commercial and it ended up running for like four years. So like,

• 4:41Drew Afualo?

  What was the commercial?

• 4:42Speaker 03

Oil level A. And I like was like skipping. I mean, like what I was like six. So like it wasn't for me. I was like dancing with like my mom and like my fake mom and I cried when like we wrapped. She was like, I'm not really your mom.

• 4:53Drew Afualo?

  You're like, that's wrong.

• 4:55Speaker 03

I was like, it was so nice meeting you.

• 4:59Speaker 03

I like looked at the crew. I was like, it was lovely working with everybody. Like, they're like, okay.

• 5:04Drew Afualo?

You were cut two hours ago.

• 5:06Speaker 03

Literally, literally couldn't get me out of there. I was like covered in oil of a lake. I know. It was so good. It was so good. It was like my mom kept trying to get me to quit and like every time I just was like, no, I wanted it so bad. And yeah.

• 5:20Drew Afualo?

Was your mom just afraid for you probably?

• 5:22Speaker 03

  Totally.

• 5:23Drew Afualo?

Your show business is so horrifying.

• 5:24Speaker 03

Terrifying. Yeah, exactly. And she was just, you know, I was like a really fun, like happy kid. And I think she just was like,

• 5:31Drew Afualo?

  She was afraid.

• 5:32Speaker 03

Yeah, I am too. I'm like, there's no way my kid's doing it. And now I'm like, well, hypocritical, but you know, like I get it. I get it. It's scary, you know? And so she's still to this day, like, are you sure you still want to do this? I'm like, yes.

• 5:45Drew Afualo?

  Any day, we can leave.

• 5:46Speaker 03

Yes, Ellen, I'm doing it. I'm still here. So, but she's, no, she's the best.

• 5:51Drew Afualo?

I love that though. What was your first, like, would you say acting gig where you felt like, oh, this is for real? Like, I'm for real doing this?

• 5:58Speaker 03

Um, I feel like one of my first movies was a movie called desperation. It was a Stephen King film. I know. And it was like scary. I did a lot of like horror films at the beginning of my career, that and Disney. So it's like,

• 6:13Drew Afualo?

  Well rounded. We love that.

• 6:14Speaker 03

Truly, truly. Yeah. And I like, my character got thrown down the stairs and I was like a ghost and like she died down the stairs and yeah, it was like very scary. And I saw like my own little dead body and I was like, this is crazy. And I think that was like, okay, yeah, I'm like really doing this, you know?

• 6:31Drew Afualo?

Oh my gosh, that's so cool.

• 6:32Speaker 03

Yeah, they asked me to jump rope in it and I didn't know how to. So that was embarrassing because I had to get a stunt coordinator to teach me how to jump rope. So.

• 6:41Drew Afualo?

Did you go to like theaters? School or anything?

• 6:43Speaker 03

No, I've never done like a play. I've never done any theater, which sounds so scary and but I think I need to because it sounds so scary, but.

• 6:52Drew Afualo?

Well, clearly you have a natural talent. I think that's awesome, though, that you just kind of jumped in.

• 6:56Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:57Drew Afualo?

  And you've been doing well.

• 6:58Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 6:58Drew Afualo?

That's so awesome. Well, tell me about Yellowjackets. I would love to know like how that came about and how the process was.

• 7:03Speaker 03

Yeah, I'd worked on Showtime prior because I did Shameless.

• 7:06Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 7:06Speaker 03

Um, so I was like, I already love Showtime. So, um, I read the script. I auditioned for Natalie originally, which is like. Sophie Thatcher is literally perfection. So it's kind of, it's really embarrassing to say that I auditioned for her part, but um, I went in and they were like, no. Yeah, that was kind of the feedback was like, no, but we'll keep her in mind, uh, for maybe like a guest star. Um, and I was like, uh, I'll take it. I wanted to be a part of the show. It was so cool. Like this pilot was so good. Um, and then they told me about Misty and I was like. I know nothing about this chick, but she seems really crazy and fun. Um, and so, yeah, I auditioned for Misty.

• 7:45Speaker 03

And then they called me back again for Misty, called me back again for Misty. At this point, I'm like, do you hate me or do you love? I'm so confused. Like, it was, I was.

• 7:53Drew Afualo?

  Hazing you.

• 7:53Speaker 03

Yeah, I kind of felt it like, and it was like so many notes and I would leave and I finally like, I've never done this before, but I left and I called my mom. I started crying. I was like. I want this so bad and I feel like I'm just not giving them what they want. And I was like, I feel like they like me, but they just don't know what to do with me. And I went and I turned back around. She was like, go back in there and ask them what they want. And so I did. And I like, was like, I don't want to be weird, but like, can you just? Can we do it again and like do it? Like, I want to give you everything and I want this part. And so, yeah, it just.

• 8:24Drew Afualo?

  Look at you, bitch.

• 8:30Speaker 03

Sweating right now, like profusely. It's like the afterbirth, like, you know, I, I've been sweating a lot. I don't know if that's what, you know, yeah, like, I just, yeah. But, um, but yeah, and then they called me back again for Misty and Natalie. So I actually did both again. And then they were like. Um, you're on hold for Misty and they were like, they're looking at Christina Ricci. And at that point, I'm like, was. Hyper analyzing like our photos like can we you know are they gonna be able to see enough of us together and

• 8:58Drew Afualo?

I I feel pretty confident. Yeah.

• 9:03Drew Afualo?

  It translates really well.

• 9:05Speaker 03

It's really crazy because I didn't think it in the beginning, but like the second that we both got like in our misty gear, I was like, oh yeah. This is great.

• 9:17Drew Afualo?

No, that's so great. I I I remember the first time we met. Was that was that season two or three?

• 9:23Speaker 03

  Yes, two.

• 9:24Drew Afualo?

  Two of Only Murders.

• 9:26Speaker 03

  I love you.

• 9:29Drew Afualo?

So nice to meet you. And then I I asked what you did. And you were like, oh, I'm an actor and I'm actually and then we were like, oh, are you in anything?

• 9:39Speaker 03

That stuff like I'm not like the type to be like, oh, yeah, like I'm, you know what I'm like.

• 9:43Drew Afualo?

Well, that's because you're sweet and so humble. That's what that is. But I was I'm laughing because you were like, oh, it's um, it's a new show. It's called Yellow Jackets. And then me and my sister were like, you mean those big ass fucking billboards all over LA? Is that Yellow Jackets?

• 10:00Drew Afualo?

Comes out soon. I was like, yeah, I would hope so. I'm seeing it everywhere. Got it, got it, got it.

• 10:09Drew Afualo?

And look how far we've come.

• 10:12Drew Afualo?

You're still terrifying people on that show.

• 10:14Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 10:15Drew Afualo?

My sister told me that was the scariest thing she had ever seen when she saw you on there. She was like, I was so scared.

• 10:20Speaker 03

Honestly, so many people say that to me before the show. Scariest thing I've ever seen in my life. Thank you.

• 10:28Drew Afualo?

  That's so great.

• 10:28Speaker 03

  She's so fun.

• 10:29Drew Afualo?

How has your experience been working on Yellow Jackets? Does it differ from anything else you've done?

• 10:33Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, totally. I mean, this whole show has been so crazy. First, like, it just, this is my first, like, series regular. Like, I've been I've been like a guest in people's houses, but I've never like, like, been the owner of the house or like, you know, like, lived in the house. And so that's been really cool and so fun to be able to build a character like this and and then like wearing the wig and wearing contacts and glasses and these different clothes. Like, I feel like I'm just fully in a new character.

• 11:00Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you like turn into her.

• 11:01Speaker 03

Yeah, and it's So fun. It's so fun. So yeah, I just, I love it. I have so much fun with it and I get, I love getting into her mindset and um, seeing where the writers are taking her and yeah, I just like, she's kind of like a, a dream for me. Um, and so yeah, I just, I have so much fun and I mean, it's been hard too. Like, you know, season one was right after the pandemic. Um, and so that was weird. Like we weren't allowed to see anybody or be around anyone except for each other and you know, it's, that's, that's hard.

• 11:32Drew Afualo?

  You're building different bonds.

• 11:33Speaker 03

Yeah, I mean, we really were like a team out there where it's like, we have each other's backs, but also like, I'm sure they were looking at me like, girl, stop crying. Like, every day I'm like, this is really hard. Like, got an antidepressants while I was filming. No, no, no. Like, I was like, not well. And they were like, you need to get it together.

• 11:52Drew Afualo?

They're like, right, we do need to finish the show though, so let's go see someone.

• 11:56Speaker 03

I was like, fair enough, fair enough.

• 11:58Drew Afualo?

That's nice that they love you that much though. They're doing good care of you.

• 12:00Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah. And you have to, you have to take care of yourself. And now that we're, you know, three seasons in, it's like, that's it. There's a part of me that's like, it's been almost six years. I've known these people. We've only done three seasons. That's crazy.

• 12:13Drew Afualo?

  Am I not done?

• 12:14Speaker 03

Yeah, I know. But also like, I want to keep it. You know, I like, I want to make sure that we don't like overshare the story, but like share it perfectly. So like, I think I'm praying for like, at least like two more seasons would be great for me.

• 12:25Drew Afualo?

I think that's so awesome. And I believe in that for you. I also, do you have like a dream role?

• 12:31Speaker 03

Honestly, like Misty was one of them. Like, I've always loved playing like a complicated, dangerous woman.

• 12:38Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 12:39Speaker 03

Um, and somebody that like, you don't know when they're kind of gonna snap.

• 12:43Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 12:43Speaker 03

Like, growing up, it was always like, I wanted to be like Harley Quinn in Joker's daughter. Um, you know, like, I don't know if they have a kid, but I wanted to be it, you know? Like, I just wanted that. Um, and now that I'm getting older, I kind of have like, A trajectory of where I'd love to see my career go, which is like, I'd love to do comedy television. Light-hearted, fun, like, just really fun. And then do like the eight twenty-four dark film that like I can have.

• 13:10Drew Afualo?

You're a real like opposite ends of the spectrum.

• 13:12Speaker 03

I want that, I want that. I wanna be, you know, like.

• 13:14Drew Afualo?

  I see that for you.

• 13:17Speaker 03

Margot Robbie, Sorceress Ronan, like where they can just.

• 13:20Drew Afualo?

  That's awesome.

• 13:21Speaker 03

I want when people see me on TV or film, they don't see like Samantha, they see, you know.

• 13:27Drew Afualo?

You can blend into any genre.

• 13:30Drew Afualo?

Do you have like a dream show, like comedy television?

• 13:33Speaker 03

Oh, my gosh. I mean, like, I loved New Girl.

• 13:36Drew Afualo?

  I loved New Girl.

• 13:37Speaker 03

Yeah, and I just think something like that, the idea of filming something like that would just be so fun.

• 13:41Drew Afualo?

  I think so too.

• 13:42Speaker 03

Like, just having a good time. I've got a couple of things that I've written that I'm like.

• 13:47Drew Afualo?

How cool. I was gonna ask you about writing. I like, I feel like most of the really successful actors I know like yourself are always writing.

• 13:54Speaker 03

Yeah, and I never believed in myself that I could do that. And then my best friend and I were like, let's write a show, like, let's write a pilot. And we did like all of it and we like, the way that we just are so proud of ourselves for just doing that part. Cause I have these ideas, but I'm so bad at getting things on paper. And then finally, like, finding a format and getting it down, I was like, I can do that.

• 14:16Drew Afualo?

You feel accomplished, yeah, absolutely. That's fucking awesome.

• 14:19Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm like one that talks myself down very quickly. Like, I'm like, oh, but that's for somebody who's like smart or like this or that. And now I'm finally kind of like, or this dummy could do it too, like, you know.

• 14:30Drew Afualo?

Or you're gorgeous and talented and, and earn all, like, have earned all the things that you have. Yes, that is also. Speaking of gorgeous and talented, not to pivot, but kind of, you recently had a baby. You did. Tell me about your baby.

• 14:42Speaker 03

  He's literally perfect.

• 14:45Speaker 03

Yeah, he's gorgeous and just funny and he giggles at me. And like, when he first made eye contact, I was like, oh. Like, you see me, like, cause for a while there, I was like, woo, like, where, like, you know, like, they, you know, and their heads are.

• 14:58Drew Afualo?

Giving newborn kitten in the morning.

• 14:59Speaker 03

Scary, it's a little scary. And then he made eye contact and I was like, oh, oh, my god.

• 15:03Drew Afualo?

  He's like registering, yeah.

• 15:05Speaker 03

So sweet. And like the giggles and the smiles and I'm like, oh, like my god, like I just, oh my gosh. And you know, he's had two surgeries so far. He's three months old. He's like resilient as can be. He's so strong. Like we were, we were at Children's Hospital yesterday, actually, because there's some other things coming up right now. And it's so funny because I'm like, I never want to be back here again. I like, I hate this place. And yesterday I was like, what the, this is, oh my god, I'm so grateful for this place. Like, I, I know I'm tired of being here, but also like, what a special, amazing place that like, I'm like, walking in these halls of these people that are literally lifesavers. And it's just like, we're so great, I'm so grateful for like, our surgeon is amazing and

• 15:49Speaker 03

like our team's amazing and everybody is just obsessed with my son and you know, like, they're just, it's amazing.

• 15:55Drew Afualo?

Yeah, there's a world in which both can be true.

• 15:58Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 15:58Drew Afualo?

You can be really frustrated with circumstance and having to be there, but also be really grateful.

• 16:02Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 16:03Drew Afualo?

That you have access to things that can help you.

• 16:04Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 16:05Drew Afualo?

But you're like, you were working and pregnant.

• 16:08Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 16:08Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 16:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 16:09Drew Afualo?

  How was that?

• 16:10Speaker 03

  Horrible.

• 16:10Drew Afualo?

  Superwoman, first of all.

• 16:11Speaker 03

Awful. It was awful. Like, I really thought I was gonna like, be like, oh yeah, like I'm pregnant and glowing and like doing amazing. And I was literally vomiting the entire season. I was just, we'd be in like eating people and then I'd be like, you know, I'm like, I'm like so sorry. Yeah, so sorry. No, but like, it was just terrible. It was awful. I had like, all of the things, like, you know, I had the fainting. I fainted on set. I had to go to the ER while dressed up as Misty, like with my wig on. And that was embarrassing.

• 16:44Drew Afualo?

You have blood on your mouth. You're like, ignore it.

• 16:47Speaker 03

Yeah. Oh, the way that like, they kept like trying to get like my blood work and like wiping the dirt off. And they're like, it's still dirty. And like, they just kept doing it. I'm like, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Um, I'm like, I swear it's not dirt, but like my wig was half off when I came in. And like, I was of course like freaking out because I was like, is he okay? Like, am I okay? And so I'm crying with my wig half off. They're wheeling me in. And I'm like, this is just, like, there was a moment when I looked around that I was like, this is a little nut.

• 17:13Drew Afualo?

  Hey, I'm being crazy.

• 17:13Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah. Hey, hey. Like I had to giggle and then I went back into it, you know? I literally was like, Mom, take a picture. And then I was like, okay, now I gotta.

• 17:23Drew Afualo?

I'm losing my mind, but I'm having a blast.

• 17:25Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was great. It was great. Yeah.

• 17:27Drew Afualo?

That's why I said, I was telling you beforehand, you're, you are strong. So women can do anything.

• 17:32Speaker 03

I know. I multiplied. Like, I literally, like, I made, like,

• 17:36Drew Afualo?

You were creating life and eating people at the same time.

• 17:40Speaker 03

  It's a duality.

• 17:41Drew Afualo?

Duality, woman, for real. No, I think, what's your, uh, what's been the most exciting part about being a mom?

• 17:47Speaker 03

Oh, I mean, I, I just, I mean, we were talking about this earlier, but when I look at him, I just, I, ah, it's so surreal, like that I made that. And that he's like, he's just amazing.

• 18:01Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, like living and breathing.

• 18:02Speaker 03

Yes. And like, I, I keep asking my mom, I'm like, is this, am I gonna forever feel this? And she's like, kind of, yeah. Like, there's just moments where you're like, whoa, like I did that. Like, wait till he calls you mom for the first time. And I'm like, oh.

• 18:15Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, he starts formulating thoughts.

• 18:17Speaker 03

Yes, yes. And just like the power of, like, the strength of like that, I could do that. Like,

• 18:24Drew Afualo?

  Hell, yeah.

• 18:25Speaker 03

The birth was wild. Like, my husband had one leg, my mom had the other, and I just pushed that thing out of me. And I lifted, I did that, like,

• 18:35Drew Afualo?

Oh, you lifted it yourself. Oh, my God.

• 18:37Speaker 03

I literally, I mean, it was crazy.

• 18:39Drew Afualo?

  And an acrobat, clearly.

• 18:40Speaker 03

I mean, I didn't know I was flexible. To be fair, I couldn't feel any of it. So like, when I gained the feeling back.

• 18:46Drew Afualo?

Thank God, epidural. Shout out. Shouts out epidural.

• 18:48Speaker 03

Loved it. It was amazing. It was amazing. I was like, I mean, honestly, I, they tell you, you forget a lot of this stuff, and I did. And then I keep getting flashes of like, oh, yeah. My mom was like, yeah, you threw up like the whole time you were pushing. And I was like, oh, right, I did. And she was like, and you were listening to music. And I was like, oh, yeah, that was fun. And like, yeah, no, I, yeah. And honestly, the team hyped me up. They were like, we've never seen anybody push like this. You're so good. I'm like, really? They're like, oh, the way you're pushing your butt down. Yes. And I'm like, okay.

• 19:17Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you're thriving off the affirmation.

• 19:20Speaker 03

  I was.

• 19:21Drew Afualo?

What else am I doing that's awesome?

• 19:22Speaker 03

Yeah, they were like, only an hour and a half, mom. You, I did it an hour and a half. Like that was a fast labor. I keep looking at you because I'm like, right?

• 19:31Speaker 03

Yes, right? An hour and a half. Like, that's not bad.

• 19:34Drew Afualo?

  That's fast.

• 19:35Speaker 03

I know. Why do I take that?

• 19:37Drew Afualo?

  That's great. That's fucking awesome.

• 19:39Speaker 03

  It was.

• 19:39Drew Afualo?

  That's so wonderful.

• 19:40Speaker 03

  It was.

• 19:41Drew Afualo?

And you're a super, super person in general, I would say. Especially delivering like on your own and doing all like, being able to do all of that and then go back to work.

• 19:51Speaker 03

I know. I know. Who am I? When I stood up for the first time after, I was like, oh my God, baby steps, you know? But like, yeah, putting my diaper on for myself, like the first time, I was so proud of myself.

• 20:05Drew Afualo?

  Have to be.

• 20:06Speaker 03

  Yeah, it was amazing.

• 20:07Drew Afualo?

What was the most shocking part of pregnancy to you? Like, one that you weren't expecting?

• 20:11Speaker 03

Just the, the, well, I really thought I was gonna look like amazing and I, I don't know why. I really thought I was gonna be one of those girls.

• 20:19Drew Afualo?

You said how, how awful I looked, honestly?

• 20:21Speaker 03

The amount of ti- the amount of times I was by the toilet and I just really, I mean, I threw up the entire time, like, and I lost weight in the first trimester, which was like.

• 20:30Drew Afualo?

  All the throwing up?

• 20:30Speaker 03

Yes, and just being sick. I couldn't eat. And, oh, yeah, the food aversions. Like, I was so excited for the cravings. I was like, oh, I'm gonna be a pickle queen. Like, I'm gonna, and then I saw a pickle and I was like,

• 20:42Speaker 03

like, I couldn't. And I love pickles, but like, not then.

• 20:45Drew Afualo?

Was there anything you latched on to? Like, a constant that didn't make you feel sick? Did you have hyperemesis?

• 20:51Speaker 03

Well, I don't even know what that is, but I don't think so.

• 20:54Drew Afualo?

Me knowing a lot, me knowing a lot about pregnancy.

• 20:56Speaker 03

  Yeah, no, I was like, I, I, no, I, I don't know.

• 20:59Drew Afualo?

That's when you just throw up the whole time.

• 21:00Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, I don't know. But like, I think maybe, I don't know. They finally got me a medication for it and it finally like helped. But my mom was literally with me every day being like, I know you can't do this right now, but you have to eat this. Like, she would literally be like shoving food down my throat and be like, you have to drink this protein shake. Like, you have to. Yeah, but the only thing that really got me through was every single night I ate a caramel apple. And that was the only thing that got me through.

• 21:26Drew Afualo?

You said all I gotta do is get to that caramel apple. That's all I need.

• 21:29Speaker 03

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure there was things I was allergic to in there, but I didn't care. I was like, I was like, I don't care. I had to.

• 21:35Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 21:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 21:37Drew Afualo?

  That's crazy.

• 21:38Speaker 03

Sometimes twice a day, but yeah, that caramel apple.

• 21:41Drew Afualo?

And then sometimes men think that they're superior. It's crazy to me.

• 21:46Speaker 03

  Tell me about it.

• 21:46Drew Afualo?

I once, I once told a guy that, uh, like when you're on your period, sometimes you get diarrhea. Like, it's very frequent, honestly. It's far more frequent than you think.

• 21:55Speaker 03

The cramps, you never know which, which is from.

• 21:57Drew Afualo?

Right. You don't know if it's diarrhea or if it's just cramps.

• 21:59Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 21:59Drew Afualo?

And I told him and he was like, what?

• 22:01Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 22:02Drew Afualo?

Like he was just blown away.

• 22:03Speaker 03

How? How are you shocked by that though? Because like it's also.

• 22:06Drew Afualo?

When they get diarrhea, they call out for a week. You don't need, they use PTO when they get diarrhea.

• 22:10Speaker 03

  Yeah, I can't.

• 22:11Drew Afualo?

When I get it, I'm just, I pull over at the CVS, get back in my car, go back to work.

• 22:15Speaker 03

Yes. Are you kidding? I love doing it at a restaurant because like, you know, like they're a little bit more clean.

• 22:20Drew Afualo?

  That's true.

• 22:21Speaker 03

Sometimes I have a hard time. Yeah. But you know, like.

• 22:24Drew Afualo?

When you gotta go, you gotta go.

• 22:25Speaker 03

You do, you do. Oh my gosh. It's so true.

• 22:28Drew Afualo?

One of my first times taking pre-workout, like powdered pre-workout. The first and last time, mind you.

• 22:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 22:34Drew Afualo?

I took that, I for some reason thought I was a bodybuilder that day. I didn't work out. I wasn't working out regularly at the time. I had like a nine to five. I was working at the NFL actually. At the time.

• 22:44Speaker 03

You are so cool. You really are. Yeah.

• 22:47Drew Afualo?

  Well, I got fired, so.

• 22:48Speaker 03

  Okay, okay.

• 22:48Drew Afualo?

That's a sporty ending for you.

• 22:49Speaker 03

Can you just say like, I got my pre-workout when I was at the NFL. Like that sounds so cool.

• 22:55Drew Afualo?

No, literally I took it. I thought I could take the same as my, my fiance. I can't. He's way bigger than me. And I took it and the way, cause all I had had that morning was like coffee.

• 23:04Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 23:05Drew Afualo?

The way that I immediately had to go to the restroom. I was in the bathroom for so long that my fiance texted me and was like, are you okay? I didn't even work out.

• 23:14Speaker 03

  No.

• 23:15Drew Afualo?

I took that, walked inside, felt like I was gonna shit myself, went to the bathroom for 40 minutes, then went home.

• 23:20Speaker 03

Oh my God. Well, honestly, you had a workout. You did. You were holding on.

• 23:23Drew Afualo?

I was working out those sensitive muscles.

• 23:25Speaker 03

Yes, you were, you sweat. I'm sure. I'm sure. Like you did.

• 23:29Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, exactly.

• 23:31Speaker 03

  You did.

• 23:31Drew Afualo?

Exactly. What if I compared that to your labor?

• 23:34Speaker 03

Honestly, no, no, no, no, no. I'm gonna be so for real. I have had bowel movements that have been worse than my labor for sure. For sure, for sure. Because there's no epidural for that. Okay? Like I can't, I, I have.

• 23:45Drew Afualo?

My mom told me certain things are like worse. Like she had a feeling, what was it that you told me was worse than childbirth? Kidney stone.

• 23:52Speaker 03

  Oh, I bet.

• 23:53Drew Afualo?

Yeah, my mom had a kidney stone. My mom was like, that was worse than all three of my kids combined. And my brother was 10 pounds.

• 23:59Speaker 03

My mom's gonna kill me for like, talking about this, cuz like, she's always telling me, do not talk about them publicly. But like, I have the roids. I have, I do have the hemorrhoids. And I've had them for years, okay? And it's just a battle, okay? And it's, and I-

• 24:14Drew Afualo?

That's just something you suffer from? Or is that cuz you're a baby?

• 24:17Speaker 03

  Oh, no. I, before.

• 24:19Drew Afualo?

  Oh, well before him.

• 24:20Speaker 03

I had, listen, I've had IBS my whole life. Like, I've had GERD. I've had, I've like, you know, they always say like, yes, look, the most beautiful people have tummy problems, they say.

• 24:29Drew Afualo?

That's true, they're sharing themselves. Trust me.

• 24:32Speaker 03

And so, and it's, I'm like, you know, I try not to share too much publicly, but like, in my private life, I share to everyone. And so, like, and everyone, you know, it's hee hee ha ha, until I'm in the midst of it. And I'm like, and it always happens before a big event. I don't know why that sucker pops on out and is like, hey, remember? It's to humble me, I guess.

• 24:53Drew Afualo?

Man, you just pop a roid right before. Got a hemi?

• 24:56Speaker 03

Literally, and I'm like, in heels, you know, like, and like, when I walk funny, it's not because I'm walking from the heels, it's because I'm like, suffering, you know? And like, um, what was the question?

• 25:08Drew Afualo?

I don't even know if there was a question.

• 25:09Speaker 03

  I literally-

• 25:10Drew Afualo?

  I genuinely don't remember.

• 25:11Speaker 03

Don't know how we got here.

• 25:14Drew Afualo?

That's so, see, stars, they're just like us. They're just like us.

• 25:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 25:18Drew Afualo?

I, I pop my hemorrhoids just like everybody else.

• 25:21Speaker 03

  I really, you know?

• 25:22Drew Afualo?

You know what? That's yours, you're one of God's strongest soldiers, cuz hemorrhoids, I've only, I think I've only ever had one. When I was like a kid. Cuz I'm a big toilet sitter. Obviously, based off my content, you can tell. But I, I'm a big toilet sitter, like, I-

• 25:34Speaker 03

I'm shocked you don't get more then.

• 25:35Drew Afualo?

Oh, yeah, I know. My mom tells me that all the time, trust me. My, when I tell you, my mom will text me when she sees I filmed one on the toilet, and she, she'll text me and tell me, you need to stop sitting on there for so long. She still does that to me to this day. To this day! I'm gonna be 30 this year.

• 25:48Speaker 03

Yeah, me too. When are you 30?

• 25:50Drew Afualo?

  Uh, September 18th.

• 25:51Speaker 03

Did we not talk about this?

• 25:52Drew Afualo?

  No, when's your birthday?

• 25:53Speaker 03

Oh my god, we're two days apart.

• 25:55Drew Afualo?

  When's your birthday?

• 25:55Speaker 03

  September 20th.

• 25:56Drew Afualo?

Oh my god, look at us, my Virgo queen.

• 25:58Speaker 03

  What? We're Virgos!

• 25:59Drew Afualo?

  I knew it.

• 26:00Speaker 03

Oh my god, and we're so close to the Libra.

• 26:02Drew Afualo?

Yes, yes, I know. I'm very well aware. I make everybody know that I'm a Virgo.

• 26:07Speaker 03

Yes. Oh my gosh, wow. I love this, two days apart.

• 26:12Drew Afualo?

  Yes, look at us.

• 26:13Speaker 03

  Dirty 30 this year.

• 26:15Drew Afualo?

I know, I'm excited. Are you excited?

• 26:16Speaker 03

I'm so excited. I've been always looking forward to 30.

• 26:18Drew Afualo?

  Me too.

• 26:19Speaker 03

  30, flirty and thriving.

• 26:20Drew Afualo?

  I agree.

• 26:21Speaker 03

13 going on 30 was like, was the thing that got me excited.

• 26:24Drew Afualo?

  Shout out Jennifer Garner.

• 26:25Speaker 03

I'm supposed to be at Poise Magazine right now.

• 26:27Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I gotta blast Bruce Springsteen.

• 26:30Speaker 03

  Yes, please.

• 26:31Drew Afualo?

  Get into it.

• 26:32Speaker 03

  I know, I know.

• 26:33Drew Afualo?

You know what's so funny? I've been telling people, because when I tell people I'm 29, they're like, oh, are you nervous about turning 30 or like getting older? I'm like, honestly, no. I, and you're a Virgo, so you get this, I've always been older.

• 26:43Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 26:44Drew Afualo?

Like mentally, I've been a 90-year-old man in my head forever.

• 26:47Speaker 03

And like a 12-year-old body. Like, I still look like a 12-year-old boy most of the time. And so, it's very weird, but no, for sure.

• 26:54Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 26:54Speaker 03

And also, you know, starting work at six years old, you kind of like have to become an adult in a lot of ways.

• 26:58Drew Afualo?

  You grow really fast.

• 26:59Speaker 03

They like expect you to be an adult, but also treat you like a child. It's very weird, as you say. And I, they still do it, because I play 16, you know, or 17. So crazy. And so, yeah.

• 27:09Drew Afualo?

I think, I'm excited, because I was telling, I've told people like, I'm excited because it's like a new era.

• 27:15Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 27:16Drew Afualo?

Because someone asked me, what are you, what are you most excited about for turning 30? And I go, telling older 30-year-olds, I'm 30.

• 27:22Speaker 03

Yes. Yeah, I'm like one of you. Like, I'm 20.

• 27:26Drew Afualo?

  I'm 30, I know. I was like, I'm 30.

• 27:28Speaker 03

Yeah, no, I already feel like my 20s are so young. And like, I don't know who they, that girl was.

• 27:32Drew Afualo?

  I agree.

• 27:33Speaker 03

I, please don't ever listen to anything I ever said back then. This is a new decade, a new chapter. I am embarking into it. No, I honestly, like, the stress of your 20s sucks.

• 27:43Drew Afualo?

  It's crazy.

• 27:44Speaker 03

And I feel like your 30s, you're just like, oh, you know what? Whatever happens, happens.

• 27:48Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, exactly.

• 27:50Speaker 03

You're at peace with you are who you are.

• 27:51Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 27:52Speaker 03

You know, you're like at that point where you're like, I'm constantly evolving and all that. But like your 20s, you feel like, I need to get it together. I need to be this, I need to be that.

• 28:00Drew Afualo?

  Like panic?

• 28:01Speaker 03

I thought I was gonna be married and have kids by the time I was eighteen. I really thought that. I like, when I was turned eighteen and I wasn't married, I was like, the disappointment.

• 28:10Drew Afualo?

You're like, I'm so far behind, everybody.

• 28:12Speaker 03

Disgusting. Like, I look back at my goals and I was like, oh, fail, fail, fail. Motorcycle license, never did it. I disappoint myself, you know, and now I'm like,

• 28:22Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 28:22Speaker 03

No, I'm so happy with where I'm at.

• 28:24Drew Afualo?

Right, I agree. I bet, I bet you agree with this too. Like, when younger people ask you for advice, I'm sure you get, uh, people asking for acting advice all the time. Like, people, when people ask me for, like, advice about being a dickhead online, whenever they ask me about shit like that, I always tell them, like, well, I'm like, well, how old are you? Cause I say, like, oh, I, I feel so behind, I feel so lost. Um, I feel like everybody has everything together except me. And I'm like, how old are you? And they're like, twenty-one. I'm like, oh, God, you have so much time.

• 28:49Speaker 03

So much. I was still an alcoholic then. Like, you, you got this. Like, you know what I mean?

• 28:54Drew Afualo?

  Different people.

• 28:54Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 28:55Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, absolutely.

• 28:56Speaker 03

We're all on our different journey.

• 28:57Drew Afualo?

  Absolutely.

• 28:57Speaker 03

  Twenty-one, honestly, I'm like, even twenty-seven.

• 29:01Drew Afualo?

  I know.

• 29:01Speaker 03

That was two years ago and still feels like a totally,

• 29:03Drew Afualo?

  That's so real.

• 29:04Speaker 03

  So long ago.

• 29:05Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and I was even telling people, I'm like, I kinda wish I skipped twenty-nine and just went straight to thirty.

• 29:09Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:10Drew Afualo?

  Because,

• 29:11Speaker 03

  I'm ready.

• 29:11Drew Afualo?

  Twenty-nine, right. I've, I'm like, I'm ready.

• 29:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:14Drew Afualo?

But also at the same time, I like, think to myself, I'm like, it feels like I'm holding on to my twenties.

• 29:19Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 29:19Drew Afualo?

When I say I'm twenty-nine, they're like, you wanna be twenty so bad. I don't, I wanna be thirty. I wanna be thirty, I wanna be thirty.

• 29:24Speaker 03

  You're like, I actually don't.

• 29:26Drew Afualo?

  I'm so over the second.

• 29:27Speaker 03

Identify as thirty right now, so that's what I am right now, yeah.

• 29:30Drew Afualo?

I agree. I've started telling people, I'm like, I'm in my thirties, I'm not yet.

• 29:33Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 29:34Drew Afualo?

  But I started saying that.

• 29:34Speaker 03

  Yes, that's, and that's fair.

• 29:36Drew Afualo?

And that's my excuse for everything, cause I'm like, we're mentally older.

• 29:39Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 29:40Drew Afualo?

So anytime, like, for example, who was it recently? They asked me to do something. And they said something, yeah, they invited me to something and they were saying like, oh, we're all gonna meet up at like nine o'clock. I was like, Drew's not coming.

• 29:53Speaker 03

  No.

• 29:53Drew Afualo?

  Nine o'clock?

• 29:54Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 29:55Drew Afualo?

Are you out of your mind?

• 29:56Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:57Drew Afualo?

We should be getting dinner at six.

• 29:59Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 29:59Drew Afualo?

  I'm home by nine thirty.

• 30:00Speaker 03

  Yes, supper.

• 30:01Drew Afualo?

  That's what we're supposed to.

• 30:02Speaker 03

  Supper.

• 30:04Speaker 03

  There's no dinner anymore.

• 30:05Drew Afualo?

  Early dinner.

• 30:06Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 30:06Drew Afualo?

  I'm looking at a six P M. Special.

• 30:07Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 30:08Drew Afualo?

Like, old people have that shit on lock. I they've figured it out.

• 30:10Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 30:10Drew Afualo?

You know what I mean? I feel like that's why I'm like, getting older. I'm like, it's just aligning more with me mentally. Like, my grumpiness.

• 30:17Speaker 03

I went to bed at five o'clock yesterday, but to be fair, then woke up at like, two A M.

• 30:22Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 30:22Speaker 03

The baby, you know, but, but, you know, like, it's, my sleep is so beautiful. I love my sleep.

• 30:28Drew Afualo?

  Me too.

• 30:29Speaker 03

Yeah, maybe more than my baby right now.

• 30:32Drew Afualo?

I don't know, depends on whether or not he sleeps.

• 30:34Speaker 03

Yeah, I know, I know. Honestly, though, I love sleep. I told my, I was on my phone with my best friend and I was like, I really want to hibernate for just like, a couple of days.

• 30:43Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 30:43Speaker 03

Just, oh, that sounds so good, you know? Like a miniature coma. You know?

• 30:49Drew Afualo?

  Just a taste.

• 30:49Speaker 03

  Just, yes.

• 30:50Drew Afualo?

  Like in a moose booth.

• 30:51Speaker 03

Oh, it'd be so nice, you know? Oh, it just sounds so good.

• 30:55Drew Afualo?

  It sounds, yeah, relaxing.

• 30:56Speaker 03

Yeah, I kind of want to like, go underground and like,

• 31:00Drew Afualo?

  Burrow.

• 31:00Speaker 03

bury myself a little, you know? Die maybe for a second, but then, Come back. Yes, as thirty.

• 31:08Drew Afualo?

When you turn thirty, exactly. I think that's perfect. I even like, the other day when I filmed it last week, um, I had Pedialyte in my mug. And my guest was like, oh, what are you drinking?

• 31:18Speaker 03

  Were you hungover?

• 31:19Drew Afualo?

Yeah, they asked me too. They were like, oh, were you hungover? I'm like, no, I just be doing that.

• 31:22Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 31:22Drew Afualo?

  Cause I'm old.

• 31:23Speaker 03

  You just love the hydration.

• 31:24Drew Afualo?

In the morning, I was like, electrolytes first. Thank you.

• 31:27Speaker 03

Yeah, it's glowing, it's beautiful, yeah.

• 31:28Drew Afualo?

I'm like, electrolytes first. I've actually put a lot of my friends on that. I'm like, cause especially with, you know, too, like, the scheduling is so insane. Like, your schedule changes and your, your sleep patterns are so off.

• 31:38Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 31:39Drew Afualo?

And so I told my friends, I'm like, I started drinking Pedialyte like, pretty regularly, not too much, but like, enough to supplement my lack of sleep.

• 31:47Speaker 03

  Good.

• 31:47Drew Afualo?

  I thought the way it's saved me, I'm a hundred, I'm a hundred.

• 31:51Speaker 03

  That's so smart.

• 31:52Drew Afualo?

And I'm going to Coachella next week and I don't know how I'm gonna live.

• 31:53Speaker 03

  You're going?

• 31:54Drew Afualo?

  Uh, yeah.

• 31:54Speaker 03

  Oh, no, I.

• 31:56Drew Afualo?

  In my 30s.

• 31:57Speaker 03

No. You're too old for that.

• 32:00Drew Afualo?

  Too old for that shit.

• 32:01Speaker 03

  You're too old for that.

• 32:02Drew Afualo?

I am too old for that shit.

• 32:03Speaker 03

  Do you have allergies?

• 32:04Drew Afualo?

  Yes, I do.

• 32:05Speaker 03

Okay, cuz that's the last time I went, I was like, I just can't do that again. Cuz like, I sneezed.

• 32:10Drew Afualo?

Oh, I'm never doing that again.

• 32:11Speaker 03

I sneezed the whole time I was sneezing. And then I took Claritin D. And you know what? There's nothing like me high on Claritin D. I am confused. I feel lost. I feel like.

• 32:23Drew Afualo?

So you really are an old person then?

• 32:24Speaker 03

  Well, I can't do anything.

• 32:25Drew Afualo?

  You're lost in the mall.

• 32:26Speaker 03

Like, since I've been sober, I just can't do anything. Cuz like, I literally, I'm like, I'm like, oh. My dad's like, what? I'm like, I took Claritin D. He's like, the Sudafed? I'm like, yeah. I'm just, I'm not well.

• 32:38Drew Afualo?

You said I'm high off the perks.

• 32:39Speaker 03

Can you hold the baby? I'm not feeling well. I'm not feeling well. Like, I drank a kombucha and I was like, ooh, I think I'm drunk. I don't feel good. It's fermented. I don't know. I feel buzzed and I don't like it. Like, I, ugh, my body just, sometimes even Advil will make me feel a little something. I don't know.

• 32:55Drew Afualo?

  That's crazy.

• 32:56Speaker 03

  It's a lot.

• 32:57Drew Afualo?

Maybe it's an artist's brain that you have.

• 32:58Speaker 03

Maybe I'm just sensitive. I don't know. Maybe there's something broken, but you know.

• 33:03Drew Afualo?

Yeah, no, I'm too, I am too old for Coachella, you're right. And I will be there and I'll be complaining the whole time.

• 33:08Speaker 03

But you're gonna have fun. You know what? Have fun.

• 33:10Drew Afualo?

  I think so.

• 33:11Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:11Drew Afualo?

And, and I'm a very like, nah, I'm good.

• 33:15Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:15Drew Afualo?

Right? Like, I remember the last time I went was like, two years ago.

• 33:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:18Drew Afualo?

And I was dying by day two, obviously.

• 33:20Speaker 03

  Of course.

• 33:21Drew Afualo?

  Uh, and then.

• 33:22Speaker 03

  It's not healthy.

• 33:23Drew Afualo?

No, not at all. Nothing about going there is healthy.

• 33:25Speaker 03

  No.

• 33:26Drew Afualo?

  It's all, it's always fun.

• 33:27Speaker 03

The boogies are like, oh, like, yeah.

• 33:29Drew Afualo?

Oh, girl. Oh, my god, and it's so hot and drunk or, oh, it's so terrible. You're so me. We're both too old women.

• 33:35Speaker 03

I know, this is why we need to hang out.

• 33:37Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 33:37Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:38Drew Afualo?

  We can gray gardens together.

• 33:39Speaker 03

  Oh, please, yes.

• 33:40Drew Afualo?

We can just grow old in the house. All, just the two of us and the baby.

• 33:44Speaker 03

Like a little, like, village? And like, you know, and like, like, oh, one person, I'll crochet. Do you crochet?

• 33:48Drew Afualo?

  No, I've never crocheted.

• 33:49Speaker 03

Okay, so you're gonna need to come. I, I do a little crochet circle.

• 33:52Drew Afualo?

  Ooh, I love that.

• 33:52Speaker 03

And I teach my people who don't know how to crochet to crochet. Next thing you know, you're gonna be wearing cat ears on your show all the time. Cuz you're gonna be like, I made this. It's, they're embarrassing, but also.

• 34:01Drew Afualo?

  We're so fucking old.

• 34:02Speaker 03

Yeah. Sometimes I'll be sitting there, like, doing my thing and I'm like, I'm like, oh, what time is it? Like, like, as if I, you know, I'm like, is supper ready?

• 34:09Drew Afualo?

Your readers on the very end of your nose.

• 34:11Speaker 03

Yes. I just started reading. I've never read before and now I'm like, oh.

• 34:17Drew Afualo?

Oh, girl, God himself couldn't separate me from my Kindle.

• 34:20Speaker 03

  Really?

• 34:20Drew Afualo?

  God himself couldn't.

• 34:21Speaker 03

Have you always been a reader?

• 34:23Drew Afualo?

  No, honestly, no. I, I.

• 34:25Speaker 03

  It's just in your thirties?

• 34:26Drew Afualo?

Yeah, just again, us picking up new hobbies.

• 34:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 34:29Drew Afualo?

Cause you know, I'm like, well, I'm not going out.

• 34:31Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 34:31Drew Afualo?

  So I'm gonna read.

• 34:32Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 34:32Drew Afualo?

Uh, no, I started reading my Kindle. Well, I got a Kindle because I wrote my book and then I didn't write. I didn't like, wanna read any feminist theory at all because I didn't want anything to imprint on my brain. So I didn't read anything for like two years and then I.

• 34:47Speaker 03

  So much dedication.

• 34:48Drew Afualo?

Yeah. And that was just purely so I didn't like take anything that wasn't mine. And I have a photographic memory. So I'm like, I'll, I'll think things and I'm like, I know I didn't write that. I just don't know where I got it from.

• 34:59Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 34:59Drew Afualo?

And sometimes I'll just Google it and then if it doesn't show up anything, I'm like, okay, then that's my thought.

• 35:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 35:03Drew Afualo?

But sometimes I just remember things.

• 35:04Speaker 03

Yeah. No, I'm so stupid. Like I'll start singing something and I'll be like, did I just write a song? And meanwhile, it's like, here comes the sun. Am I a genius?

• 35:14Drew Afualo?

It's girls just wanna have fun.

• 35:15Speaker 03

Yeah, I know. I'm like, you should, you should take that. Yeah, that's a great, yeah, no.

• 35:20Drew Afualo?

One time when I was really high, I for some reason thought that I came up with the movie, The Martian.

• 35:25Speaker 03

  Oh, my gosh.

• 35:26Drew Afualo?

  Starring Matt Damon.

• 35:26Speaker 03

  Okay, with the potatoes?

• 35:28Drew Afualo?

  Yeah. Yes.

• 35:30Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 35:30Drew Afualo?

You, you see how I can't answer? Cause I've never seen that movie.

• 35:32Speaker 03

  Oh, oh.

• 35:33Drew Afualo?

Um, I was watching Interstellar and I was like, Matt Damon in space movie. That's what my brain's registering. Like when I'm high, like that's how it registers thoughts. Matt Damon, space movie.

• 35:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 35:43Drew Afualo?

And then I go, space movie, Matt Damon poster? Like, that's how I was thinking in my head. And I was like, cause I know the poster of The Martian.

• 35:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 35:50Drew Afualo?

And it's the orange and he's in the helmet.

• 35:51Speaker 03

  Uh, yeah.

• 35:52Drew Afualo?

That's all I know about The Martian. Nothing else. And then I was thinking, wow, I wonder if anyone has made space movie starring Matt Damon? And it was called The Martian. That's, I'm having these thoughts in my head.

• 36:02Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 36:02Drew Afualo?

  And I'm like.

• 36:03Speaker 03

  You're like, I am genius.

• 36:05Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 36:05Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 36:06Drew Afualo?

  Really like.

• 36:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 36:07Drew Afualo?

I'm thinking, I'm the next Steven Spielberg.

• 36:09Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 36:09Drew Afualo?

As I'm sitting there and I'm thinking it and then.

• 36:12Speaker 03

Meanwhile, there's like a trailer for the movie happening right in front of you. You're like, yeah.

• 36:15Drew Afualo?

I'm watching him on TV in Interstellar, a different space movie. And then my fiance goes, I think he was in The Martian too. Mind you, all the thoughts I've been having are all in my head.

• 36:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 36:26Drew Afualo?

So when he said that to me, I go. How did you know that? And he goes, know what? And I go, The Martian? Who told you that? Me thinking that he's reading my mind.

• 36:35Speaker 03

Oh, my God, you're like, we're so connected. Oh, my God.

• 36:38Drew Afualo?

You're right here, you're right here.

• 36:39Speaker 03

Yes, you get me, you understand me, yeah. Oh, my gosh.

• 36:42Drew Afualo?

And I'm thinking, I'm like, um, TM.

• 36:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 36:45Drew Afualo?

That's my IP, I just came up with that in my brain.

• 36:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 36:47Drew Afualo?

And then when I'm telling it, he goes, the movie The Martian. Like, he's explaining it to me, and then I go, right.

• 36:53Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 36:54Drew Afualo?

For a second there, I thought I came up with The Martian.

• 36:56Speaker 03

But this is why men bother me. Sorry, your fiance, I know he's great. But why do you have to do that to you?

• 37:01Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 37:01Speaker 03

When you were having a great moment.

• 37:03Drew Afualo?

  Took my dream.

• 37:03Speaker 03

Yes, it was your dream, he crushed it. Right then and there. Oh, my gosh.

• 37:08Drew Afualo?

I know, you're right, I'll fight about it when I get home.

• 37:10Speaker 03

Oh, good, good, good, yeah. I'm glad I had that moment to do that with you, yeah.

• 37:13Drew Afualo?

  Perfect clarity.

• 37:14Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 37:15Drew Afualo?

Wait, I have some fun facts about you, actually.

• 37:17Speaker 03

Oh, my gosh, let's see if I know them.

• 37:19Drew Afualo?

I would love, okay, this is.

• 37:20Speaker 03

  This might be shocking, okay.

• 37:22Drew Afualo?

Well, the first one says, you just had your first baby? Which we already talked about, not a secret, but a fun fact.

• 37:26Speaker 03

  What?

• 37:27Drew Afualo?

  Who told you that?

• 37:28Speaker 03

What? I thought I came up with that.

• 37:30Drew Afualo?

Uh, this one says, one of your earliest acting credits is playing British orphan in an episode of Drake and Josh.

• 37:36Speaker 03

Yeah, well, yes, yes, it was.

• 37:37Drew Afualo?

  British orphan.

• 37:38Speaker 03

Yes, my, my lines were, pardon me, sir. I have, it's dying British orphan, mind you.

• 37:42Drew Afualo?

  Oh.

• 37:43Speaker 03

Uh, pardon me, sir, I have only three weeks to live. May I please cut in front of you? Every minute counts. And then he lets me go in front of him, and I'm like, you're very kind. Yep.

• 37:55Drew Afualo?

  Do you remember the episode?

• 37:56Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 37:56Drew Afualo?

Is that the one where he goes on the roller coaster?

• 37:58Speaker 03

No, so they realized they knew each other when they were eight years old. And they're like a Padres game, and like, yeah, it was, yeah. So I played two characters. I also played, like, hot cute girl coming up and being like, hey, can I come in front of you? And they're like, sure, and I'm like, thanks. And then, like, I take the last foam finger, and then.

• 38:15Drew Afualo?

And then you played sad British orphan?

• 38:17Speaker 03

Yeah. Two retellings of the story, yeah.

• 38:21Drew Afualo?

They, you run back there and they do a quick costume change?

• 38:23Speaker 03

Literally. No, I really thought I was the shit, though. When I played cute girl, I literally came out and I was like. Like I felt so cute.

• 38:31Drew Afualo?

  How old were you?

• 38:32Speaker 03

  Uh, like eight?

• 38:33Drew Afualo?

  Oh, perfect timing.

• 38:35Speaker 03

Oh, yeah. I was the it girl.

• 38:36Drew Afualo?

Oh, I would have ate that shit up when I was a kid. Oh, my god.

• 38:40Speaker 03

It was so fun. And being in those little, oh, my gosh, it was just so cute.

• 38:43Drew Afualo?

  That's so fun.

• 38:44Speaker 03

And then the dying British orphan, they like threw dirt at me. I was like,

• 38:49Speaker 03

get out there. And I was like, okay.

• 38:50Drew Afualo?

Every role, you got dirt on you.

• 38:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:53Drew Afualo?

All your roles, dirt seems to be involved.

• 38:54Speaker 03

It's, it is. It actually happened one time. Well, I was at an audition. I was auditioning for like, an American Girl movie, not the one I did, because I was an American Girl doll, but like, it was a different one. And I, I totally forget which one it was, but like, she was supposed to be like, like dirty. And my mom, literally before going in, she was like, you want this, right? And I was like, yeah. She grabbed dirt from the side of the road. I don't even know where she got it. Like grabbed it from the side of the building and was like,

• 39:21Speaker 03

  I literally was like,

• 39:24Speaker 03

I had like allergies. So I'm like,

• 39:25Drew Afualo?

She said, this is what the greats do.

• 39:27Speaker 03

She was like, you're ready. And I did not get it.

• 39:31Drew Afualo?

Hey, mom, they said I had shit on my face. So that's why I didn't get the role.

• 39:36Speaker 03

They're like, sorry, you have a little, little,

• 39:40Speaker 03

  a little smudge.

• 39:41Drew Afualo?

They're like, this poor, dirty girl came in here.

• 39:44Speaker 03

I was like, I really need this part.

• 39:47Drew Afualo?

Then you do your Drake and Josh lines. I only have minutes.

• 39:52Speaker 03

  They're like, what the fuck?

• 39:55Speaker 03

I only have three weeks to live. They're like, well, then you won't be alive for the shoot.

• 40:00Drew Afualo?

You're all, well, I might heal if you give me the role.

• 40:02Speaker 03

  I know.

• 40:03Drew Afualo?

  Who knows though?

• 40:06Drew Afualo?

Okay, this one says that you also appeared on episodes of so many iconic TV series, including, Suite Life of Zack and Cody, I, I Carlie, That's So Raven, Mad Men, and Vampire Diaries.

• 40:17Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 40:18Drew Afualo?

  Okay.

• 40:18Speaker 03

  Just to name a few.

• 40:19Drew Afualo?

Just to name a few. Gotta go down the list. Suite Life of Zack and Cody first, obviously.

• 40:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 40:24Drew Afualo?

  How was that experience?

• 40:25Speaker 03

Oh, my god, the best. I like, I, I was just talking about this recently. So like, before I ever, you know, had my first kiss,

• 40:32Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 40:32Speaker 03

I had a dream one time about having my first kiss. And I remember waking up and being like, I did it. Like, I had my first kiss in my dream. And That was with Cole Sprouse.

• 40:41Drew Afualo?

  Okay.

• 40:41Speaker 03

And so then finding out that I booked the show, I was like, oh my God, like, will he know? Like, does he know that I dreamt about that? And now he does, because I just said it. You know, and I was just, oh my God, I was so nervous. And then I was in a predicament because then filming the show.

• 40:55Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 40:56Speaker 03

I then started to feel things for Dylan instead of Cole and then.

• 41:00Drew Afualo?

  Matters of the heart.

• 41:01Speaker 03

It was insane. It was insane. But the cool thing was.

• 41:03Drew Afualo?

  Talk about a love triangle.

• 41:05Speaker 03

Right? But usually, so when you got guest star, especially like on um, on like Disney or Nick, they have a bunch of different storylines. And then you're like a part of one of those storylines.

• 41:14Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 41:15Speaker 03

Whereas my first episode of Suite Life, I was like the only like kid guest star. And it was like about me and my dad coming to the hotel and like being con artists.

• 41:23Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 41:23Speaker 03

Um, and so it was like me and the boys the whole time. And it was the best time of my life.

• 41:29Drew Afualo?

Can I just say, that sounds like if, because we're the same age.

• 41:33Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 41:33Drew Afualo?

When I was that age, that would have rocked my world.

• 41:37Speaker 03

  Like it literally.

• 41:38Drew Afualo?

I would have been like, I am living the dream.

• 41:41Speaker 03

I went home every night and was like, my life will never get better. Like I have hit my peak at like 10 years old. Like, you know, I was like.

• 41:48Drew Afualo?

Just like, you're not paying bills?

• 41:50Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 41:50Drew Afualo?

And you're hanging out with two cute boys.

• 41:53Speaker 03

No, but I was so awkward too, because I remember like Dylan was like, you know, like, oh, what grade are you in? And I was like, are you talking to me? And it was just me and him and Cole and Cole. And he was like, well, I'm not talking to him because like it literally. Yeah, like and my twin to be like, we're in the same grade. And I was like, oh, right. I was like, third, I don't know, like third grade or something. And I just, I just was obsessed. And he was like, do you want to go play, I don't know, some like tag game? Like, want to go outside and play tag? And I was like, uh huh. I was like, I'm it. I'm gonna catch you. I'm gonna catch you. Like chasing him like.

• 42:27Drew Afualo?

You're like the most nervous child alive.

• 42:30Speaker 03

Still sweating just thinking about it. I can't stop sweating. Um, and I, I just slow motion in my head like.

• 42:38Speaker 03

He still had that floppy blonde hair, you know, at the time and like.

• 42:41Drew Afualo?

I'm picturing a sweater vest and that flame up button down. He, that bitch loved that Tommy Bahama.

• 42:47Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 42:48Drew Afualo?

Tommy Bahama hated to see Zach coming.

• 42:50Speaker 03

Yes, yes. So, oh my God, they killed me. And you know what? Ashley was just like the best too. Like she was just the sweetest. And she like, I remember like it was like my last day of filming. I was devastated. It was my last day of filming. She's like, girl, get my number. Mind you, I had a flip phone because I just turned 10, double digits. I was allowed to get a flip phone. And I was like, flipped it open. I was like, here you go. And I remember I like texted her one time and I was like, how are you? But it was like H R U, you know, because it was so hard to type, you know, never text me back, but that's okay. Beside the point. And I just was like so in with them and like I just felt so accomplished. And I remember.

• 43:26Drew Afualo?

I truly feel like I'm reliving high school glory days with you.

• 43:29Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 43:29Drew Afualo?

• 43:36Drew Afualo?

Yes, of course I did. I was balls deep in that show. I loved that show.

• 43:39Speaker 03

I loved it. I loved it. And then.

• 43:41Drew Afualo?

And I remember you from the show.

• 43:43Speaker 03

Well, I was like really brave as a kid. Like, I don't know who she was. Like, I wish I was still like that confident. Because I remember I was auditioning for something else on the same lot. And I was like, oh, well, I'm going to go see the writers.

• 43:54Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 43:55Speaker 03

Because why not? So I'd like just walk, like my mom and I just like walking over to the writers room like, they're like, bitch, you were fired. Like you, you had your one episode.

• 44:03Drew Afualo?

  Once again, you've been cut.

• 44:04Speaker 03

Yeah, like we said a rap and you know, and so I was like, hey, guys, they're like, Sam, hey, you know, and I'm like, so when do I come back? And they were like.

• 44:17Speaker 04

• 45:19Speaker 03

You know what? We will, we will bring you back. And they brought me back for like six more episodes.

• 45:23Drew Afualo?

  You better work bitch.

• 45:24Speaker 03

  And it was like, what?

• 45:24Drew Afualo?

  You better work bitch.

• 45:25Speaker 03

  I really did that.

• 45:26Drew Afualo?

They said, they said, dress for the job you want.

• 45:29Speaker 03

Yes. And I said, here I am, you know?

• 45:31Drew Afualo?

  You're so real for that.

• 45:32Speaker 03

And it was so great. And it was crazy because we filmed like four episodes in one week. Cause Brenda Song was filming Wendy Wu Homecoming Warrior.

• 45:39Drew Afualo?

  Another classic.

• 45:40Speaker 03

I know. And then, and then Ashley was doing High School Musical 2 at the time.

• 45:44Drew Afualo?

  Oh God.

• 45:45Speaker 03

They were just booked and busy.

• 45:46Drew Afualo?

Oh, it's all my favorite things combined.

• 45:48Speaker 03

Are you kidding? Like, I was like, it was so cool. I never really, I only worked with Brenda for like a day. Like we only, and the first time that I filmed, she also wasn't there. So I really didn't get to work with her much, but I was such a like London Tipton like fan, like. London Tipton's, I loved her, you know, the Prindle, like everything.

• 46:05Drew Afualo?

  Very on that show.

• 46:06Speaker 03

  Yeah. So it was.

• 46:07Drew Afualo?

  The whole cast was.

• 46:08Speaker 03

They were just the best. And it was the best time. And I'm just, I can't believe I got to be a part of it.

• 46:13Drew Afualo?

  That's so fucking cool.

• 46:14Speaker 03

I'm so sick. I was so sick.

• 46:16Drew Afualo?

  You're so fucking awesome, bro.

• 46:17Speaker 03

I've never been, I have, no, no, no. I have never been cooler than I was at 10.

• 46:22Drew Afualo?

Like how dudes talk about like, like when dudes meet other guys who were like played professional sports 20 years ago.

• 46:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 46:28Drew Afualo?

They're like, you're so fucking awesome, bro.

• 46:30Speaker 03

Yeah. You drive what car dude? That's sick. No, seriously. I'm like.

• 46:33Drew Afualo?

You worked with Ashley Tisdale, dog. That's fucking awesome.

• 46:35Speaker 03

Yes. Yeah. Was it 20 years ago? Yes, it was. But you know, literally almost 20 years ago. That's crazy.

• 46:41Drew Afualo?

  Also, I Carley. I Carley.

• 46:44Speaker 03

  Am I okay? Yes, iCarly.

• 46:48Drew Afualo?

  What was iCarly?

• 46:49Speaker 03

It was so fun. I honestly became like, so I had known Nathan Pryor to it. So I was like, hey, you know, I knew some of them and like I'd worked with-

• 46:57Drew Afualo?

  Freddie Benson?

• 46:57Speaker 03

  Yeah, I know.

• 46:58Drew Afualo?

  Damn.

• 46:59Speaker 03

  I know.

• 47:00Drew Afualo?

  She knows everyone.

• 47:02Speaker 03

So like, kind of as a kid, I did.

• 47:04Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, absolutely.

• 47:05Speaker 03

It was so crazy because like my high school, because I was homeschooled, was the kids, the people grew up watching on TV.

• 47:12Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 47:12Speaker 03

You know, so like, but it was cool, but also like, I wish I didn't know half the things I did because I was like, ugh. I like, I know you too well, you know, to enjoy you now. Yeah, yeah, but Nathan really is wonderful. And then Jeanette and I just really clicked. Like, I just like fell in love with her. I just thought she was the bee's knees. Like, she's just a really cool, good person. And so we really connected. We became really good friends when we were kids. And I was in just like such a small part. And it's so crazy when people are like, oh my, you're the girl that was like, it's lame daddy. And I'm like, oh yeah, that was my one line. Like, thank you so much for remembering. But like, they replayed these episodes, you know?

• 47:51Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you remember because they remember.

• 47:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 47:52Drew Afualo?

Because they keep repeating it to you.

• 47:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 47:54Drew Afualo?

That's kind of like Emily Radikowski. Like, she played Gibby's girlfriend in an episode of iCarly.

• 48:00Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 48:01Drew Afualo?

  And that's like-

• 48:01Speaker 03

  Icon. Yeah, yes.

• 48:03Drew Afualo?

  That's so funny.

• 48:05Speaker 03

I'm pretty sure Vanessa, uh, good, so, okay, so Stella, so when I worked on Suite Life, Ashley was like, what school do you go to? Because I was like, kind of doing this like weird actors, kids, school thing, very strange. It was like, you go for three hours and then the rest of your day is just homework. And so it was for kids who like, had like busy schedules. And so it was really lame, honestly. Weird, like, the teachers were weird. One like, was like a drug dealer. It was strange. Like, you know, there's a lot to it. We'll talk about it another time. But she was like, my bestie's little sister is looking to go to a school. So then, that's how I met Stella Hudgens and then Vanessa Hudgens. And so, but Vanessa was in a random episode of Drake and Josh.

• 48:47Speaker 03

And I like saw a clip of it and I was like, what? Like, were we all just like in these random shows? But-

• 48:52Drew Afualo?

They were swapping all of you out.

• 48:54Speaker 03

  Really were.

• 48:54Drew Afualo?

  Round robin-ing you guys.

• 48:55Speaker 03

  Yes, yeah.

• 48:56Drew Afualo?

And on here, what else does it say? That's a Raven.

• 48:58Speaker 03

  That was a good time.

• 48:59Drew Afualo?

That was, what were you on? That's a Raven?

• 49:01Speaker 03

I was a sunshine girl, um, and so it was like Girl Scouts. So do you remember when Raven was like, she had like a little like sister, like she was like being a big sister kind of thing to Sydney? And so I was like in this like little sunshine group and I was like a germaphobe who was afraid of everything and like had like rashes like my mom's like rubbing more things on me. She's like, you're gonna butt this one, sweetie.

• 49:23Drew Afualo?

We gotta give you a rash. They said rash.

• 49:26Speaker 03

  Gotta get this one.

• 49:27Drew Afualo?

I have to ask about Vampire Diaries.

• 49:29Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 49:30Drew Afualo?

The one before that was Mad Men.

• 49:31Speaker 03

  Oh, oh, oh.

• 49:32Drew Afualo?

  How was Mad Men?

• 49:33Speaker 03

It's terrifying. One of the scariest sets I've ever been on.

• 49:35Drew Afualo?

  Really?

• 49:35Speaker 03

  Yeah, just really intimidating.

• 49:37Drew Afualo?

I bet. I was gonna say. A lot of heavy hitters on that show.

• 49:39Speaker 03

Yeah. And like, it was one of those though, like, where like Jon Hamm like came over and was like, Jon, nice to meet you. And I was like, oh, yeah, I know. How do you do, Jon Hamm? How do you do? But no, it was just really intimidating. And my first time smoking cigarettes and I was like, like, you know, like trying to like be somebody who knows how they're do it, but like held my hand really straight. Yeah, not good. Um, and then like I kept saying like, didn't. And they were like, it's did not. Like they were very specific about like, you couldn't ad lib words. It was buried by the book. Um, and then when I showed up, they were like, very intense about like the hair. They were like, nobody had layers back then, so you need to have a blunt cut. And I was like, okay. And they're like, so we're cutting your hair. And I was like, okay, like, I don't care. You know, whatever. I didn't really care.

• 50:22Drew Afualo?

  You're a true actor.

• 50:23Speaker 03

Yeah, I would do. I also just, hair has never been something I really cared too much about. And so I was like, sure. And they did it. And but they were like, low key really like, I mean, sorry. I, if you're that hair person, you were kind of rude. Like, she was like, she was like, you could be fired in an instant. And like, if you don't like, let me cut your hair, they're gonna fire you. And I was like, I'm literally not arguing with you. Like you.

• 50:44Drew Afualo?

Hey buddy, um, I'm in the chair.

• 50:46Speaker 03

I'm like, I'm cutting it myself at this point. Like, I'm like, just do it.

• 50:48Drew Afualo?

You're wasting time telling me this? I've agreed to the blunt cut.

• 50:52Speaker 03

It's fine. I'm, I'm here for it. And she's like, you'll be done. You'll be out of this town.

• 50:55Drew Afualo?

  You'll never work another day.

• 50:57Speaker 03

I was like, I, it's okay. Like you can cut it, you know? So I just felt like it was one of those shows where they were like, very like letting you know you're replaceable. And I was like, I'm here for like two days. It's okay. Like, you know?

• 51:08Drew Afualo?

  Relax. It's fine.

• 51:09Speaker 03

  Yeah, but it's okay.

• 51:10Drew Afualo?

That's good though. I feel like it's really awesome that you're so. Aware and also very like, okay, I've done this before. It's fine. I think that's great though. Cause that's you advocating for yourself in a lot of ways.

• 51:22Speaker 03

Well, and I also am one of those people that's like, I got hired for my job because I'm good at my job. You got hired for your job because you're good at your job. So like, I entrust what you're saying. Like if I really think like, whoa, I don't need to shave my head for this one guest star. You know what I mean? Like, I don't need to do that. But if I'm like, that makes sense for the character. Sure. Yeah. Why not? Like you're, that, that's great. You know, like.

• 51:44Drew Afualo?

Don't even try to fight me. Don't.

• 51:45Speaker 03

  Don't, don't touch me.

• 51:48Speaker 03

Yeah. Although I was, I did a job once and um, I was wearing a wig and, and fine, I'll say it. Okay. It was yellow jackets. They were like, it was for the pilot and the girl was like, she's like, I think I just need to cut off your dead ends. Cause you've got really bad dead ends. And I was like, okay, thank you.

• 52:07Drew Afualo?

My feelings are hurt. Thank you.

• 52:08Speaker 03

Yeah, I actually thought my hair looked good. She like gave me a bob. Like I went from like long hair to like bob. And I was like.

• 52:14Drew Afualo?

She said, just a little off the top.

• 52:16Speaker 03

Yes. And then she goes, she goes, did you want bangs? And I was like, I'm trying to grow them out. I look in the mirror and they're like super short. I was like, you have bangs? She cut my bangs. And I was like, oh.

• 52:25Drew Afualo?

  Hey, I'd be mad.

• 52:26Speaker 03

Yeah. And then she was like, and then I was like, so just to clarify, I'm wearing a wig in the show, right? And she's like, right. And I was like.

• 52:32Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, I was just practicing.

• 52:34Speaker 03

She literally was like, she was like, you're welcome. I was like, okay.

• 52:38Drew Afualo?

And she goes, yeah, I don't even work here. So I'm actually not sure.

• 52:41Speaker 03

Honestly, I would have been surprised. Would not have been surprised. I was really shocked. It was okay.

• 52:47Drew Afualo?

It's so funny cause I was talking about you advocating for yourself and you said, just give me new hairdo.

• 52:53Speaker 03

And meanwhile, I said, thank you. Like, I did. I left with a smile on my face.

• 52:57Drew Afualo?

I'm wearing a wig though. She goes, yeah.

• 53:00Speaker 03

I was like, okay. No, I, yeah, I'm not. I'm, I'm working on it. I'm working on it. Younger me was better at advocating for myself. I'm working on it again.

• 53:08Drew Afualo?

I think you're doing a great job. You're doing the best job you can do. Oh, and then vampire hair is also the other one.

• 53:14Speaker 03

  Right.

• 53:15Drew Afualo?

I, and I would love if you could tell me your character. I'll tell you if I remember.

• 53:17Speaker 03

  Okay. Season eight?

• 53:19Drew Afualo?

Right. I'm trying to remember what happened.

• 53:22Speaker 03

I'm random. I'm random. I just kind of came up. There um so there um there's a girl who's like mind controlling sip Sybil.

• 53:29Drew Afualo?

  Okay, okay.

• 53:30Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 53:31Drew Afualo?

The name rings a bell, yes.

• 53:32Speaker 03

Yes, and like she was like mind controlling me and like a bunch of other people. This is when like I'm so bad at their names. So it was Paul in real life, so Stefan.

• 53:40Drew Afualo?

  Stefan, yeah.

• 53:41Speaker 03

Stefan kills me twice. He like is like he like turns me into a vampire. Which wasn't very nice, you know, because he did not call for that. And then um when I was like sucking blood, he was like, you've turned into a monster. Cause he was working for this like, I haven't watched the show.

• 53:58Drew Afualo?

He was working for another guy?

• 53:59Speaker 03

He's working for the devil, I think, or Cade Kane, Cade?

• 54:02Drew Afualo?

  Cade, Klaus?

• 54:03Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 54:04Drew Afualo?

Klaus isn't, it is Cade. Okay, this is the seasons I stopped watching.

• 54:07Speaker 03

  Okay, I can tell.

• 54:09Drew Afualo?

No, but I do know Stefan. I do know the mind control thing.

• 54:11Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 54:12Drew Afualo?

And I do know Sybil. Like I do know of it.

• 54:14Speaker 03

Okay, okay, yeah. I was just there. They like, they were like, you're here, you're gonna die, and then you're gonna die again. And I was, you know, I wasn't there for a long time, but I was there for a good time.

• 54:23Drew Afualo?

I haven't watched the show. That's so funny.

• 54:25Speaker 03

I but it was so sweet because um, oh my god, I'm I'm terrible.

• 54:30Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 54:31Speaker 03

  Damon.

• 54:31Drew Afualo?

  Damon, yeah, Ian.

• 54:32Speaker 03

  Ian Simonholder, wonderful dude.

• 54:34Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 54:34Speaker 03

He was directing my first episode.

• 54:36Drew Afualo?

  Oh, that's cool.

• 54:37Speaker 03

Yeah, and that was, that was super cool, because I was like on a cruise.

• 54:41Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 54:41Speaker 03

And so I got a call from my team. They're like, they want you for Vampire Diaries. And I was like, ooh, I'm like in the Caribbean. Like, I'm like, I'm on a cruise ship right now. Um, and they're like, Ian wants you off that cruise. And when they said that, I was like, oh, okay. And so I found him.

• 54:55Drew Afualo?

  That's cool.

• 54:55Speaker 03

  I, yeah, I.

• 54:56Drew Afualo?

  Love that.

• 54:56Speaker 03

They ported on the cruise thing and I was like, okay, bye. Like, it was so lovely.

• 55:01Drew Afualo?

  Salvatore needs me.

• 55:02Speaker 03

Yeah, literally. Yeah, and so it was great. It was so fun.

• 55:05Drew Afualo?

  Oh, I loved that show.

• 55:06Speaker 03

Yeah, it was a good time.

• 55:07Drew Afualo?

  Balls deep in that show.

• 55:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 55:09Drew Afualo?

  Until.

• 55:09Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 55:10Drew Afualo?

They cut off the love interest that I wanted. Cause obviously it's, it's a real you, Zack and Cody situation.

• 55:16Speaker 03

  Okay, okay.

• 55:17Drew Afualo?

With Elena and Stefan and what the fuck is his name, Damon?

• 55:20Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 55:20Drew Afualo?

Uh, once, there was an episode I watched. I remember I was in college, I was a freshman in college. And I watched where they officially, like pretty much officially kill off any possibility of Elena and Stefan ending up together.

• 55:33Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 55:33Drew Afualo?

Like they just basically erase. All of it entirely and then they they're looking at each other and they're in front of the fireplace and then they go we'll always be friends right and he goes of course When I tell you I closed my laptop never watch that show again Fuck this show I was so pissed off I was so

• 55:48Speaker 03

Well you dedicated so much time

• 55:53Drew Afualo?

I said you gotta be fucking kidding

• 55:55Speaker 03

That was me with that was me with The Walking Dead

• 55:57Drew Afualo?

  Really?

• 55:58Speaker 03

Yeah, not not at all with love or anything but with them killing off a character that I was like I can't I can't yeah I can't I actually I oh I I had a breakdown and then I was like no

• 56:12Drew Afualo?

I literally can't watch this anymore yeah that's how I felt about Sons of Anarchy

• 56:16Speaker 03

It's scary though because on the flip side like I'm on the other side of it and I'm on a show where everybody dies and like so when I see people get super mad I'm like but don't leave Cause like like you you signed up for this right right you're gonna stay

• 56:28Drew Afualo?

  Hypocrite to my core

• 56:29Speaker 03

Yeah, no I know I know because I'm the first one to be like they did that Okay, well now I'm never watching meanwhile like our show I'm like um yeah give us grace okay We all make mistakes here Yes, we have to let it cook Yes, exactly we haunt we haunt each other it's okay

• 56:47Drew Afualo?

That's why I was on uh when I watched Breaking Bad

• 56:50Speaker 03

Okay, I'm just starting don't tell me cause I'm

• 56:54Drew Afualo?

I'm even wearing like This is a Breaking Bad inspired shirt

• 56:59Drew Afualo?

  But

• 57:01Drew Afualo?

Like I'm a huge fan I'm not I started watching it yeah I started watching Breaking Bad I really liked it but then I started getting to a point where I was like I can't get any worse than that There's no way it could get worse than that and then they find a way to make it worse I felt like I had to start smoking cigarettes watching that show

• 57:19Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's how I felt about American Horror Story I I was like oh bad dreams like I you know

• 57:26Drew Afualo?

I had to stop watching that show

• 57:29Drew Afualo?

Nightmares too It was sit in my brain too Hotel was the last one I watched

• 57:34Speaker 03

Like there's things I can watch but like then there's things that like

• 57:40Speaker 01

• 58:13Drew Afualo?

I feel like I already know what you're talking about. It makes it like unwatchable for me.

• 58:17Speaker 03

Certain assaults, I can't get into it. And I can't, I'm like, I can't, like, there's something like, yeah, it makes me really uncomfy and like, yes, yes, yeah.

• 58:26Drew Afualo?

And I'll think about it for days.

• 58:28Speaker 03

  Yes, yes.

• 58:28Drew Afualo?

That's so funny. You're so me.

• 58:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:30Drew Afualo?

It's funny too, because my sister watches everything, like, and anything. But she like, she'll tell me, like, if it has something in it that she knows will make me sick, and I can't watch.

• 58:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:40Drew Afualo?

So like, when Euphoria first came out, I was like, I need you to vet it for me, because I can't.

• 58:45Speaker 03

  And how?

• 58:46Drew Afualo?

And she was like, I wouldn't watch this one, but you can watch these ones. And I was like, okay. Instead, but then I was like, I feel so out of the loop on jokes.

• 58:54Speaker 03

Right? FOMO is so real with it, yeah.

• 58:56Drew Afualo?

And then so she would just give me like 30 second, like, little synopsis of each episode.

• 59:00Speaker 03

I feel like I've watched enough TikTok of, of the show to know that I'm like, okay, right, you, you, you, Sydney Sweeney are really good, and you were dressed up, and, and they thought you could be in that play, but you weren't in that play, and then you had a breakdown. But then, like, was it real, was it not? And you were looking in the mirror, and you're such a pretty crier.

• 59:19Drew Afualo?

  And that's pretty much it.

• 59:20Speaker 03

I think so. I think so, yeah. I think so.

• 59:23Drew Afualo?

I know, I've said that too with like TikTok. Sometimes I'm like, sometimes I'll tell people, yeah, I've seen that movie.

• 59:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 59:29Drew Afualo?

  I haven't.

• 59:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 59:30Drew Afualo?

I've only seen a few TikToks, and I feel like I got the gist.

• 59:32Speaker 03

Okay, be so for real. Have you watched Yellowjackets?

• 59:35Drew Afualo?

  I've only watched one episode.

• 59:36Speaker 03

Ah, okay. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Okay.

• 59:38Drew Afualo?

  I have watched one.

• 59:39Speaker 03

Which one? Was it the pilot?

• 59:41Drew Afualo?

  The first one, yeah.

• 59:41Speaker 03

Okay, well, you gotta at least get to the second episode, because that's a good one for me.

• 59:44Drew Afualo?

  I got spooked.

• 59:45Speaker 03

Yeah, I get it. And you know what? That's fair. I think our show, my show is kind of like drugs, and it's not for everyone, and you can't take too much at once, and you would need to be in the right mental space to do it.

• 59:55Drew Afualo?

  Right, exactly.

• 59:56Speaker 03

  You know, and it's just...

• 59:57Drew Afualo?

But if I can watch The Last of Us, I can watch Yellowjackets.

• 59:59Speaker 03

  You know?

• 59:59Drew Afualo?

  You know what I mean?

• 59:59Speaker 03

  You know?

• 1:00:00Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:00Speaker 03

Well, we can watch it together one day.

• 1:00:03Drew Afualo?

  I would love that.

• 1:00:03Speaker 03

I'll sit there, I'll hold your hand through it. And at least if you get through the second episode, because... It's just a really good one for me and that's all I that's all I care about. That's literally all I care about.

• 1:00:14Drew Afualo?

Actually a great, that's a great pull for me.

• 1:00:16Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:00:16Drew Afualo?

  That will draw me.

• 1:00:17Speaker 03

Yeah, it's like you're like you're gonna watch it and be like, oh, and then you're gonna be like, what she do that? And then you're gonna be like, oh, I don't know how I feel. And then you're like, oh, my god.

• 1:00:25Drew Afualo?

I will tell you, my sister's watched all of it. She's currently up to date.

• 1:00:29Speaker 03

  Are you?

• 1:00:29Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:30Speaker 03

  Oh shit.

• 1:00:30Drew Afualo?

Completely up to date. She's like, she'll tell me, she goes, oh, can I please tell you about Yellowjackets?

• 1:00:35Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:00:35Drew Afualo?

And I'm like, yeah, that's fine, because I don't mind if people spoil things for me, because I'll still watch them.

• 1:00:38Speaker 03

  That's how I am too.

• 1:00:39Drew Afualo?

  Look at us.

• 1:00:40Speaker 03

I'm like, I kinda love when they get to spoil a little.

• 1:00:43Drew Afualo?

  Me too.

• 1:00:43Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:00:44Drew Afualo?

I also feel like that's an invaluable friend.

• 1:00:46Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:00:47Drew Afualo?

Like I told, like, one of our friends was like, who's gonna read the new Hunger Games book with me? In our group chat, we have a book club group chat, where we never read. And that's how we started, never finished.

• 1:00:56Speaker 03

  Uh huh.

• 1:00:57Drew Afualo?

And I was like, I think Carrie will, Carrie's right here. I was like, I think Carrie will read with you. She goes, oh, you bet your ass I'm gonna read that. Like, they both love The Hunger Games. I was like, those books don't really call to me anymore. But I said, but I'll let you spoil it for me.

• 1:01:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:08Drew Afualo?

And she was like, that's perfect.

• 1:01:09Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:10Drew Afualo?

Because she was like, wants to tell me about it.

• 1:01:12Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:12Drew Afualo?

Like the movie The Substance, she was like, when that first came out, my friend, same friend, she was like, can I spoil it for you? And I was like, yeah.

• 1:01:19Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:19Drew Afualo?

So she told me the whole plot.

• 1:01:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:20Drew Afualo?

So when I went to the Oscars and people asked me if I'd seen it, I said, yes.

• 1:01:24Speaker 03

Yes. Because you said you have a photogenic memory, right? Okay, so basically you did, because somebody told you, you got to mentally see it.

• 1:01:32Drew Afualo?

  Right. Exactly.

• 1:01:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:34Drew Afualo?

I was like, same thing. You know what's funny too, is I, when Gladiator, the new Gladiator came out.

• 1:01:39Speaker 03

  Uh huh.

• 1:01:40Drew Afualo?

I was like, uh, telling my dad, I was like, we should go see it. And he goes, have you seen the first Gladiator? He knows the answer to that question. He asked me and I go, no.

• 1:01:48Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:48Drew Afualo?

Of course not. And then he goes, we gotta watch the first one and then we'll watch the second. I said, for what?

• 1:01:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:53Drew Afualo?

Where I was like, I, I feel like I got the gist.

• 1:01:56Speaker 03

  Well, I watched SNL.

• 1:01:57Drew Afualo?

  Manfight.

• 1:01:57Speaker 03

Yeah, I watched SNL and they did like, you know, a clip of it or whatever. They mocked it, I guess, and that was enough for me.

• 1:02:04Drew Afualo?

  That's pretty much it.

• 1:02:04Speaker 03

I saw, yeah, I saw their little outfits and I was like, oh.

• 1:02:08Drew Afualo?

And at the same time, my sister was trying to tell me, convince me to go see Sonic 3 with her. And I was like, I was like, I haven't seen the other two dude. And then she goes,

• 1:02:17Speaker 03

I bet you didn't need to.

• 1:02:18Drew Afualo?

Well, she goes, here's the plot of every new Sonic movie.

• 1:02:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:20Drew Afualo?

  New Sonic.

• 1:02:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:21Drew Afualo?

  That's it.

• 1:02:22Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:02:22Drew Afualo?

Right? And then I was laughing and I go, no dude, I gotta watch the other two. And then we were laughing about it cause I go, I was literally just saying, hey, fuck the first Gladiator. I'm watching anyone. But if it's Sonic, I'm like, well, I need to understand the lore.

• 1:02:33Speaker 03

  Yeah, of course.

• 1:02:35Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:35Drew Afualo?

The character development, I'm gonna miss it all.

• 1:02:36Speaker 03

What, what did Jim Carrey have to do with this one? Like, is he okay? Is he in it? Like, are we, you know?

• 1:02:41Drew Afualo?

  You get it.

• 1:02:42Speaker 03

  Love it.

• 1:02:44Drew Afualo?

Let me see, we have more fun facts for you. Okay, this one is, your first lead role was playing Crissa in one of the American Girl movies. Which you did mention you weren't an American Girl.

• 1:02:53Speaker 03

Okay, that was like lead, lead, but I have, I had led in stuff prior to that. But that was a good one. Yeah, what the fuck? Okay, should we not talk about this one?

• 1:03:04Drew Afualo?

  I'm leaving.

• 1:03:05Speaker 03

No, let's be real though, this is the only important one, okay? Like, it's true, it's true.

• 1:03:10Drew Afualo?

  And how was it?

• 1:03:11Speaker 03

I mean, I was my, I was a doll. Like, I literally had my own doll. I like, I, I was like, you know, the whole Barbie thing, like this Barbie does it, that's, Crissa was one of those. She was like, she literally like, she swam. She was on the swim team. So like, they like,

• 1:03:24Drew Afualo?

  Girl swim?

• 1:03:25Speaker 03

Yeah, I got to do, so like, I had to like, I mean, I knew how to swim. It wasn't like the jump rope thing, but like, you know, I knew how to swim, but like, I mean, they were like freestyle butterfly and like, I learned all that. I learned how to dive, like all that stuff.

• 1:03:35Drew Afualo?

  What are you, Michael Phelps?

• 1:03:36Speaker 03

  Literally.

• 1:03:37Drew Afualo?

  So Michael Phelps?

• 1:03:38Speaker 03

  She actually is.

• 1:03:39Drew Afualo?

  Damn, okay.

• 1:03:40Speaker 03

She's like the anchor of their like swim team, you know? Um, and then like, and then my dad makes pottery, so like, I like make pottery and like, like,

• 1:03:48Drew Afualo?

  She's so deep.

• 1:03:49Speaker 03

She's so deep, so I had to go like, learn how to make pottery. And then they were like, okay, you gotta come meet the animals. And I was like, what? And they're like, oh yeah, she owns llamas. And I was like, right. So she's like a llama, llama tamer too, you know? And so like, I'm like, got the llamas and then, um, what else happened? Like, so much happened that like, I got to do so many fun things with her.

• 1:04:07Drew Afualo?

She's a man of many hats, apparently.

• 1:04:09Speaker 03

Really is. I'm very proud of her. I, you know, she's, and she stood up to bullying.

• 1:04:14Drew Afualo?

  Okay, T, she saw me.

• 1:04:15Speaker 03

Yeah, no, honestly, you'd actually love the movie. You would, okay, but that would be fun.

• 1:04:19Drew Afualo?

  The American Girl movie.

• 1:04:20Speaker 03

You should get high and watch that.

• 1:04:21Drew Afualo?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:04:21Speaker 03

  Please, actually do that.

• 1:04:22Drew Afualo?

I want to get high and watch you in Yellowjackets first.

• 1:04:24Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:04:24Drew Afualo?

And then for the palate cleanser.

• 1:04:26Speaker 03

  That will freak you out.

• 1:04:27Drew Afualo?

If I'm palate cleanser, I'll watch American Girl.

• 1:04:29Speaker 03

Okay, okay, that honestly, yeah, no, that's fair. That's fair, but that, it was so cool. Like, I got to go travel the, like, the world. I got to go travel America and like, go talk to kids about bullying. Which is like, kind of hilarious because like, I didn't go to school. So like, I'm over here, I'm over here being like, yeah, like, go like, talk to a teacher and like, you're gonna be good. You're gonna be okay. Meanwhile, like, never had to deal with it myself.

• 1:04:54Drew Afualo?

  You said, "Get out there."

• 1:04:54Speaker 03

Yeah, I said, I said, "Find somebody you trust. Be an upstander, not a bystander." These were like, these were my cue cards. Like, I literally, and they were, they were like, "But weren't you in Suite Life and playing a bully?" And I was like, "Right, that was a character." Okay, that's acting. You don't want to be like me.

• 1:05:10Drew Afualo?

And you wouldn't know anything about that.

• 1:05:11Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:05:11Drew Afualo?

  You start bullying them.

• 1:05:12Speaker 03

Because you're a loser. You're a loser who was not on TV.

• 1:05:16Drew Afualo?

Exactly. I have a microphone and you don't.

• 1:05:19Speaker 03

  And you don't. Sit down.

• 1:05:22Drew Afualo?

  Shut up.

• 1:05:22Speaker 03

They raised their hand, "Put your hand down, Jessica." Um, yeah, no, I, I, it was, it was a great time, but also I felt so hypocritical because I didn't know. And the second I got bullied, like, face to face, because I got like, cyber bullied all the time, you know? People were like, "Hey, bubble head." Like, I've always had a big head. Like, you know, it's okay. Salmon hand fatty was like, what people called me growing up. Like, you know, yeah, don't know.

• 1:05:45Drew Afualo?

You're all, their names were Zack and Cody. But other than that.

• 1:05:49Speaker 03

Yeah, I had so much fun on that show. I showed up, they were like, "Hey, hand fatty."

• 1:05:55Drew Afualo?

Can you imagine getting badged by the Strous Twins?

• 1:05:58Speaker 03

Um, yes, yes, I can imagine.

• 1:06:02Speaker 03

That's such a fun rumor to start.

• 1:06:04Drew Afualo?

Someone get Dumois on the phone. Stat.

• 1:06:07Speaker 03

  Oh my god.

• 1:06:08Drew Afualo?

  That's so funny.

• 1:06:09Speaker 03

But no, it was, um, it was so funny. I was ice skating one day, though, and I had a choker on. Um, and I like, had my hair slicked back in a little ponytail and I was just ice skating, you know? And these kids just skated up to me and were like, "I hope your choker chokes you and you die." And I was like, "Oh." And, "Oh my god, it killed me, actually." And then they, they then came back around and they were like, were like, "Hey, you look like a man." And the only thing I could do was go, well, and I never cursed as a kid, ever. And I go, "Well, my dick is bigger than yours." And they literally like, "Oh my gosh." It was the best comeback I've ever come up with. But also, like, the way that they were like, "You admitted it, ha, like, ah." And I was like,

• 1:06:46Drew Afualo?

  Were the, these were boys?

• 1:06:47Speaker 03

Yes, of course they were, and-

• 1:06:49Drew Afualo?

Okay, hitting you with a drive-by insult on ice skates?

• 1:06:52Speaker 03

And they were so fast, they were so fast-

• 1:06:54Drew Afualo?

  Hey, read the room, Ping.

• 1:06:55Speaker 03

Their hair's like whipping in the wind.

• 1:06:56Drew Afualo?

You're gonna ice, you're gonna, you're gonna triple axel away from me after you do that shit to me?

• 1:07:01Speaker 03

Literally, they were like doing it backwards.

• 1:07:05Drew Afualo?

They're doing a little toe, a toe heel thing? What the fuck?

• 1:07:08Speaker 03

  I can't-

• 1:07:09Drew Afualo?

Hey, girl, go hug yourself. Why are you being mean to me on skates?

• 1:07:12Speaker 03

  Literally.

• 1:07:13Drew Afualo?

You can't even let me get off my skates?

• 1:07:14Speaker 03

I know, I called my mom, she picked me up, like, I like, I was, oh, I was, I, and I didn't go back ice skating for so long after that, like, it was so sad, it was a passion too, like, it was sad.

• 1:07:23Drew Afualo?

  I wish I was there.

• 1:07:24Speaker 03

Oh, me too, cuz I, yeah-

• 1:07:26Drew Afualo?

I would've pushed those boys to the ground, I'll be real. I would've put my hands on them, that's me.

• 1:07:30Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, I love it, I love it. I've got a question, were you, have you always been tall?

• 1:07:34Drew Afualo?

Yes, yeah, I was five-four when I was ten.

• 1:07:37Speaker 03

  No!

• 1:07:37Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, isn't that nuts?

• 1:07:38Speaker 03

I was like, I was like four, eight, I was like four-eight when I was ten.

• 1:07:42Drew Afualo?

No, I was five-four, I was tall, I was as tall as my mom when I was ten.

• 1:07:45Speaker 03

  Wow!

• 1:07:46Drew Afualo?

Yeah, cuz my dad is six-six.

• 1:07:48Speaker 03

Wow, oh my god, amazing. My dad is like five-one.

• 1:07:53Speaker 03

I like, I'm literally, I feel like I see eye to eye with that man, like, you know? And that's saying something, cuz I'm wearing my, you know, these are my big girls. And like, yeah, I, I'm five-one, and so, no matter how like, I try to be like, no! You know, I'm still like this, you know, and so it's just, yeah, but, I will say, it's fun when somebody is mean and you're so short, and you're looking up at their nose hairs, and you're just like, really? All that, yeah, that's in the cave, yeah, it's embarrassing. In fact, let me just-

• 1:08:23Drew Afualo?

It's funny, cuz when we were, how old were you when that happened to you, the ice skating thing?

• 1:08:27Speaker 03

Oh, uh, it was after I did, so I must, like thirteen probably, yeah.

• 1:08:32Drew Afualo?

That's like a prime age, too.

• 1:08:33Speaker 03

Yeah, oh yeah, no, and I was horrible at standing up for myself, like, I still am, I'm really good at standing up for friends, but I'm really bad at standing up.

• 1:08:40Drew Afualo?

  Isn't that always the case?

• 1:08:41Speaker 03

Yes, yes, like, the second I'm, I mean, even with like, online shit, like, usually I'm like, doesn't bother me, doesn't bother me, and then I'll see stuff and I'm like, they're so right, like, no, they're so right, the way I like cower and I, you know?

• 1:08:52Drew Afualo?

It's okay, get behind me, Sam.

• 1:08:53Speaker 03

  I know, I know.

• 1:08:55Drew Afualo?

Get behind me, girl, I'll take care of it.

• 1:08:56Speaker 03

I'm one of those people that like I I really like almost try to justify what they're saying I'm like they're so like you know what I've got to look inward like what no you know I know but you know what some things are fair I'm like you know what call me out when I do something shitty cuz you know that's fair but then when you're like you know the whole like my head's big I know I know I know I'm so close to falling over every time you know

• 1:09:22Speaker 03

you know and they will and I know they will

• 1:09:24Drew Afualo?

Well, I wish I was there to defend you from bullies on ice skates is great getting bullied on ice

• 1:09:30Speaker 03

No, but honestly, when you like put the picture and it is really funny like the triple axel really got me like that was really funny

• 1:09:37Drew Afualo?

Well, my point being like that's why I said like when I was a kid kids like you were like my favorite people to defend because it used to kill me saying

• 1:09:46Speaker 03

Cause you're like you're so pathetic I would just

• 1:09:49Drew Afualo?

Honestly, it's what really genuinely it's cuz you always remind me of my sister my sister's the same way like she would and it would it would incite a rage in me that would make it's making my hands shake now cuz I'm reliving it I remember one time my mom used to do this thing where we would share a birthday which I was like as someone who needs attention this seems really personal

• 1:10:08Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah

• 1:10:08Drew Afualo?

But my my mom would put our birthdays together cuz my sister's birthday is in December so it was always like on school break and like so my mom was like let's do joint birthdays like joint party not joint birthday so we would have a joint I remember my our first like one of one of the first joint parties I remember us having I was probably like six like maybe and so we're her and I were at the park like all our friends are there whatever I remember we were playing in this there was this park that had a bunch of rocks like big rocks and kids would like climb on them and jump off whatever and so my sister my sister was notorious for being like it's okay you can go it's okay you can go and then and then I would go and I'd be like come on Dace let's go and I'd be like hold on my sister's climbing

• 1:10:50Drew Afualo?

and I would like wait for her to come up and I remember there was one time there was a little boy at this park and he like he was getting pissed off at my sister cuz I was like trying to give her a turn and then he pushed her and she fell and she started crying and then he got up on the rock and so I went up behind him and I pushed him off that rock

• 1:11:13Drew Afualo?

  you guessed it Cole Sprouse

• 1:11:17Drew Afualo?

Imagine I pushed him years ago um no he I remember actually that like one of, it was like a teenager, she got mad because she, that was her little brother and she came and pushed me, which is crazy. Cause I'm a child.

• 1:11:31Speaker 03

Sorry, if I was outside looking in, all these kids are just pushing each other.

• 1:11:36Drew Afualo?

King of the hill at that point, yeah.

• 1:11:39Drew Afualo?

They're like, we should probably take the kids out of there.

• 1:11:42Speaker 03

  I know, where's the fair?

• 1:11:43Drew Afualo?

But I remember like my mom went over there and yelled at them too, because I was like, she asked me why, what happened and I was like, well, he pushed her, so I pushed him.

• 1:11:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:11:51Drew Afualo?

  That's how that works.

• 1:11:52Speaker 03

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 1:11:53Drew Afualo?

My mom was like, you got me there.

• 1:11:55Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:11:55Drew Afualo?

You're right, that is how that works.

• 1:11:56Speaker 03

  Yes, yes. Yeah.

• 1:11:58Drew Afualo?

So I would have loved to defend you.

• 1:12:00Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:12:00Drew Afualo?

And I would have with my life, you know that, I'll do it now, it's alright.

Thank you. Honestly, though, that's, I was always like drawn to like those friendships that were like the kind of the stronger personality ones. Cause like I, you know, I'm like definitely a lot of a person and I know I'm like, you know, like a lot, but at the same time, like I'm just a little anxious mess most of the time, you know? And like, I'm so nervous about everything.

• 1:12:23Drew Afualo?

  Little girl.

• 1:12:24Speaker 03

Yes, and I just wanna shake myself and be like, you are strong, but then I'm like, oh, you know, like, am I?

• 1:12:30Drew Afualo?

But sometimes the screaming wins out.

• 1:12:31Speaker 03

Yes, yeah, but it's good to let it out.

• 1:12:33Drew Afualo?

Yeah, absolutely, period. Okay, more fun facts about you. This one says you have a snow globe collection.

• 1:12:40Speaker 03

Yeah, oh, I love that. Yes, I do.

• 1:12:43Drew Afualo?

How long have you been collecting them?

• 1:12:44Speaker 03

I have no idea. They just keep appearing like, and it's not a practical one, because I don't know if you've ever tried to get a snow globe on a plane or like pack it? But like, they break and it's really unfortunate.

• 1:12:55Drew Afualo?

Yeah, believe it or not, I don't have a lot of experience with that. Transporting snow globes, no.

• 1:12:59Speaker 03

Okay, you never like, oh, I'm gonna, you know?

• 1:13:02Drew Afualo?

I've gotten like maybe one or two in the years I've been flying.

• 1:13:05Speaker 03

  I just love them.

• 1:13:06Drew Afualo?

You're like, you know that problem everybody has, snow globes crack.

• 1:13:09Speaker 03

Yes, I've had them confiscated, well, you know, taken away at TSA.

• 1:13:14Drew Afualo?

Oh, because there's too much liquid in there.

• 1:13:15Speaker 03

Yeah, so usually I had to buy them at the airport, like after I've gone through TSA and then I had to like take it in my bag, like I'm like carrying this thing. You know, put it in its little like, you know, spot.

• 1:13:24Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:24Speaker 03

But I love them. I just, it's like my way of remembering my little, where, my little journey of where I went.

• 1:13:29Drew Afualo?

That's so cute. I love. You like a little tchotchke?

• 1:13:32Speaker 03

  I do, I do. I know, I love a little knickknack.

• 1:13:35Drew Afualo?

Yeah, my fiance and I started.

• 1:13:37Speaker 03

  We're so old, thirty.

• 1:13:38Drew Afualo?

Girl, I'm saying, I fucking brick a brack on my shelves, bitch. I literally feel like, like, especially because I was just about to say, my fiance and I started collecting magnets. For our fridge from different places we go. And now we're like, we need to get a magnet. I'm a hundred years old.

• 1:13:58Speaker 03

For a while I was doing shot glasses and then I was like, mm, like, I'm like, I know I've mentioned a few times, I'm sober. So like, not the best thing for me to be like, you know, like, oh, this, this, what could this have, you know, take my mirror lax in there.

• 1:14:15Speaker 03

No, but, uh, the, the, yeah, it's fun to have a little thing that just reminds you of where you've gone, you know, like.

• 1:14:21Drew Afualo?

Yeah, absolutely. I remember one time I, uh, I was flying, I was flying out of, I think Arizona, somewhere in Arizona for work.

• 1:14:29Speaker 03

  That's where I'm from.

• 1:14:30Drew Afualo?

Oh, period. Love that. And we, I remember when we were leaving, my fiance and I were fighting and we were at the airport and I was so like. You know what I mean? When you're at the airport and you're fighting.

• 1:14:39Speaker 03

Yes, yes. Oh, the silent fighting is.

• 1:14:43Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and it was funny because he was like, I'm gonna go to this, to the store, and my sister remembers because she was there. Um, and she's like, I'm gonna go to the store. And I was like, okay.

• 1:14:51Speaker 03

Yeah, you're like, why do I care?

• 1:14:52Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I don't give a fuck. And then he goes and then he like bought himself something and I was like, whatever, right? When I was sitting there. And then when we got home, obviously we were, by the time we got home, we were fine.

• 1:15:03Speaker 03

  Right, of course.

• 1:15:03Drew Afualo?

And when we got, he was like, oh, um, here. And he gave me the bag that he got from the store and he bought a magnet. And then it made me cry. And then I was like, God, I got you wrapped around my finger.

• 1:15:15Drew Afualo?

Man, I got that bitch's number.

• 1:15:19Drew Afualo?

But I was like laughing because I was thinking about like, when we were fighting, he was like, gotta go get a fucking magnet.

• 1:15:24Speaker 03

Yeah, like, oh, that's his flowers. Yeah, he just shows up with a bunch of magnets.

• 1:15:29Drew Afualo?

Gotta get a fucking magnet because we're collecting them, but whatever, because we're a hundred.

• 1:15:35Speaker 03

I think it's so funny when you get your partner something when you're still upset with them because you're like, God, I'm such a fucking great partner. He's gonna love this shirt. I know he is. Doesn't deserve it, but he's getting it, you know?

• 1:15:47Drew Afualo?

Yeah, when you're like getting something and you're like, God, he would love that.

• 1:15:50Speaker 03

  Yeah, oh, yeah.

• 1:15:51Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you can wrap that up for my ungrateful ass fucking fiance.

• 1:15:53Speaker 03

Yeah, they're like, do you want gift wrap? No, actually, I don't. He can have it in the bag. Here you go.

• 1:16:00Drew Afualo?

But don't put it in a cute one.

• 1:16:01Speaker 03

Yeah, no, yeah, please. Please wrinkle it up a little.

• 1:16:07Drew Afualo?

This last one is not a very fun fact. But it said that you had scarlet fever when you were six years old. That's not fun. That's not fun and HIPAA.

• 1:16:16Speaker 03

Yeah, um, so if you don't take care of strep throat, it can turn into scarlet fever.

• 1:16:22Drew Afualo?

  Which I did not know.

• 1:16:23Speaker 03

  I did not know.

• 1:16:24Drew Afualo?

That's fucking crazy, you Laura Ingalls.

• 1:16:25Speaker 03

I survived. I survived. Can you believe that? That's why I'm crocheting.

• 1:16:29Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you're in Little House on the Prairie, bitch.

• 1:16:32Speaker 03

With my little bonnet on. I'm like, ah, mother.

• 1:16:36Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you're like, I got the fever stopped, huh? For real. That was you at six?

• 1:16:40Speaker 03

It was crazy. It was crazy. I like, I remember, cause like, everything I ate, I would just like vomit. God, I vomit so much. That's like the thing here. Yeah, no, I throw up a lot. Um, and the only thing that finally got me to stop throwing up was she like, took Coca-Cola and put it in the mic- wah, the microwave for like a hot second, and then it was like, warm, almost hot, and drank that thing, never threw up again. Well, I mean, I did eventually, but like, you know.

• 1:17:07Drew Afualo?

Did you try that when you were pregnant?

• 1:17:08Speaker 03

No, I should have. What the fuck? Why would I not? What the hell? Where are you, babe? Wait a second.

• 1:17:14Drew Afualo?

  That's crazy.

• 1:17:15Speaker 03

Yeah. The doctor was like, just warm up some, some Coke. Maybe he meant a different kind, but you know.

• 1:17:22Drew Afualo?

You really are Laura Ingalls then. Like, that feels like such an old timey, like, remedy.

• 1:17:28Speaker 03

I know. Like, take the Coca-Cola. Yeah, it was great.

• 1:17:31Drew Afualo?

That's crazy. Oh my god. And you were a working girl too.

• 1:17:34Speaker 03

I know. With scarlet fever and all. I was sick a lot as a kid. I was a very sick child. Yeah.

• 1:17:40Drew Afualo?

  That's crazy.

• 1:17:40Speaker 03

Yeah, I know, I know. It was actually one of the first things I told Christina Ricci. Um, I was like, she did, did you ever watch, it was such a good movie, um, Gold Diggers? It was like, oh my god. It was like the girl from My Girl. Um, and it was Christina, and like, it was, oh, it was fantastic. And there was a part in it where they would like, be like, they're talking about this girl named Molly, and she was really strong. Be strong like Molly. So every time I was like in the hospital or going through something, my mom would be like, be strong like Molly.

• 1:18:08Drew Afualo?

  Oh, that's cute.

• 1:18:09Speaker 03

So I told Christina about it and she was like, okay. Right, yeah, you know, we just met. I probably didn't need to like go into depth.

• 1:18:15Drew Afualo?

So I had scarlet fever when I was sick and here's the thing.

• 1:18:17Speaker 03

So like when I was a kid, I was so sick.

• 1:18:19Drew Afualo?

So I have a really, I have a thing with hemorrhoids. It's not, neither here nor there.

• 1:18:22Speaker 03

Oh my god, I forgot I shared that. Oh my god, the sweating's coming back. The roids are back. Oh no. Most people, yeah, I know, no.

• 1:18:31Drew Afualo?

Most interesting woman alive. And I think it's because I see a lot of me in you.

• 1:18:34Speaker 03

  I think, I think it's great.

• 1:18:35Drew Afualo?

I'm like, god, you're fucking delightful.

• 1:18:37Speaker 03

Yeah, no, you're like, you're like the confident version of me. You're like what I could be.

• 1:18:42Drew Afualo?

And you're the successful version of me, so there we go.

• 1:18:44Speaker 03

  Oh, shut up.

• 1:18:45Drew Afualo?

  Let's trade. You wanna trade?

• 1:18:46Speaker 03

Shut up. Ah, yeah, yeah. We, oh my god, how fun would it be if we had like a Freaky Friday?

• 1:18:52Drew Afualo?

Yeah, obviously, obviously. You're Lindsay Lohan.

• 1:18:55Speaker 03

  No, but you'd.

• 1:18:56Drew Afualo?

  And I'm Jamie Lee Curtis.

• 1:18:57Speaker 03

It would be hilarious because like, okay, I gotta go back to what you just said, but like, no, the idea of like me just like meeting your fiance and you meeting my husband, like, you'd be like, hello, hello, little guy, how do you do?

• 1:19:12Drew Afualo?

I'd pick him up, put him on my side like a baby.

• 1:19:14Speaker 03

Yeah, literally, literally. You're like, aww. Just giving him, what was that called?

• 1:19:18Drew Afualo?

  A noogie?

• 1:19:22Speaker 03

  Yeah, aww, hi, Christian.

• 1:19:24Drew Afualo?

Can you imagine if I gave your husband a noogie? That'd be crazy.

• 1:19:28Speaker 03

  Please.

• 1:19:28Drew Afualo?

Last time I saw you guys was at the People's Choice Awards.

• 1:19:30Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:19:31Drew Afualo?

Imagine I gave him a noogie there, that'd be nuts.

• 1:19:35Speaker 03

  It's a little thing from.

• 1:19:36Drew Afualo?

Well, now I know what to do next time I see him.

• 1:19:39Drew Afualo?

And a face full of armpit and my knuckles in your scalp.

• 1:19:42Speaker 03

I can't. Meanwhile, I feel like I'd have to like chest bug your fiance. Like, that's the vibe I get.

• 1:19:47Drew Afualo?

That's, it's literally, we're, we're almost devolving into like, like disgusting men, because I was telling you about Suite Life, I was like, that's fucking awesome, bro. You're so fucking sick. Where's your husband? Come here.

• 1:20:02Speaker 03

  He's like, help, help.

• 1:20:05Drew Afualo?

I'm gonna shove him in a locker after.

• 1:20:10Drew Afualo?

That's fucking so funny. That's ridiculous. Oh my god, that's so funny.

• 1:20:14Speaker 03

  Christian, I love you.

• 1:20:15Drew Afualo?

  We should do another.

• 1:20:15Speaker 03

You are strong. We should do a double date.

• 1:20:17Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 1:20:18Speaker 03

  That would be so fun.

• 1:20:19Drew Afualo?

  I'd love to.

• 1:20:19Speaker 03

  That would be so fun.

• 1:20:20Drew Afualo?

If anything, we're like variants of each other. Like we're existing in different timelines.

• 1:20:24Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:20:24Drew Afualo?

  You know?

• 1:20:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:20:25Drew Afualo?

This is like our, our multiverse is expanding right now.

• 1:20:28Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:20:28Drew Afualo?

  So that's why.

• 1:20:29Speaker 03

  I'm obsessed.

• 1:20:30Drew Afualo?

It's like me seeing the other versions of myself.

• 1:20:32Speaker 03

Yeah. As we both are doing this at the same time. I'm starting to get a little scared.

• 1:20:38Drew Afualo?

  I know, and I see now we're.

• 1:20:39Speaker 03

You're also one of the like few people that I have a, like, your laugh is so great. And like, when people hear me laugh, like my gut laugh, my real laugh.

• 1:20:48Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:48Speaker 03

They, they jump back. And like, on set, all the time, my castmates always do that.

• 1:20:52Drew Afualo?

And I'll match your freak every day.

• 1:20:54Speaker 03

I love it, I love it, cuz it's like, oh, I feel like I can keep getting louder with it.

• 1:20:57Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, cackle.

• 1:20:58Speaker 03

Yes, I love to cackle. But I scare people a lot of the time, so like. Oh, I love it.

• 1:21:04Drew Afualo?

  Fucking same. Literally fucking same.

• 1:21:06Speaker 03

  You make me feel good.

• 1:21:07Drew Afualo?

Period same. I fucking love you. You're amazing.

• 1:21:10Speaker 03

  You, oh my gosh.

• 1:21:10Drew Afualo?

I think you're so incredible, and I think you're so talented. And I do wanna take a quick, serious second to tell you that I think you are so incredibly strong. Cuz obviously, I know.

• 1:21:19Speaker 03

Okay, no, I'm actually gonna cry, so okay.

• 1:21:20Drew Afualo?

I know what you, I know what you've been going through, and I know what you've been doing. And I think you're incredible. I do, I really think you're so fucking talented. Which we all know, we've seen, obviously, you're working, and you're talented and successful. But I think that what makes you so special is like really who you are. And that's why you've been able to be so successful, not in your career, but just in personal life. And you're doing it all by your fucking self, bitch. I'm so proud of you.

• 1:21:43Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 1:21:44Drew Afualo?

I'm so happy for you. I know it's been a really hard, like, few months.

• 1:21:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:21:47Drew Afualo?

So I'm really, I'm so proud of you.

• 1:21:49Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 1:21:50Drew Afualo?

I'm sure you don't hear it enough. So I'm proud of you, I'm happy for you, and I think you are very strong. And I fucking got your ass, didn't I?

• 1:21:57Speaker 03

I feel like your fiance, I'm like wrapped around that finger. I'm gonna go get a magnet. No, honestly.

• 1:22:04Drew Afualo?

It's okay, our first fight, you can get me a magnet.

• 1:22:05Speaker 03

I, okay, but I also don't ever wanna fight you. I feel like I will crumble. I will crumble.

• 1:22:11Drew Afualo?

I could never fight you. I'd be that Wesley Snipes me, where he's, he's like. I could never do that to you.

• 1:22:17Speaker 03

No, honestly, like, I appreciate everything you just said so much, like, and the fact that you just. Took the time to like breathe life into me is I appreciate so much like seriously that is so beautiful.

• 1:22:29Drew Afualo?

You're so you're so incredible and that's there is a reason you've been working as long as you have and you're fucking killing it. And now you're a mom too shit hardest job in the fucking world.

• 1:22:38Speaker 03

And isn't it crazy how I'm still like but it's not enough.

• 1:22:41Drew Afualo?

Yes, yeah, I find that insane Sam, I find that insane.

• 1:22:44Speaker 03

I know, I know, I've literally contacted my team, I'm like, okay, so my next part, I have to get the next thing and I'm like, they're like, you've just had a baby, I'm like, okay, but.

• 1:22:52Drew Afualo?

Your baby is three months old, literally.

• 1:22:54Speaker 03

Right, and he'll be there on set, we can, let's just, let's do it.

• 1:22:58Drew Afualo?

Your baby's been earthside for less than a quarter, so, that's crazy.

• 1:23:02Speaker 03

  I know, I know, I miss him.

• 1:23:04Drew Afualo?

And that's why I look at you, like, you're you're still doing it, and that's why I want to commend you for still being so, uh, like, passionate and dedicated to your craft. But also, like, I think, yeah, I just think you're you're meant to do this, you are meant to be a an artist, that's who you are. And I think it's wonderful, and I think your baby is lucky to have you.

• 1:23:22Speaker 03

Oh, don't, okay, that was fucking rude, don't say that, don't say that, I.

• 1:23:28Drew Afualo?

We can go back to talking about hemorrhoids.

• 1:23:30Speaker 03

Yes, okay, they just pop out.

• 1:23:33Drew Afualo?

  Right, so they pop out.

• 1:23:36Drew Afualo?

But I think you're amazing, I don't want to give you flowers for it.

• 1:23:38Speaker 03

Amazing, I think you're amazing, and I think what you do is amazing, and I think that, like, who you are, you're hilarious, but you're also just you, and that's what makes you amazing, you know, and so, I appreciate the no front, and like, the realness that you bring, and I appreciate that you bring snacks on red carpets. That is so beautiful, honestly, that's the best thing about you.

• 1:23:58Drew Afualo?

You know what's funny is every actor I got to that took snacks from me, they literally were like, even Quinta, she told me too, she was like, I love her, she's so sweet, but she was like, this is so great, because I'm starving.

• 1:24:10Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:24:11Drew Afualo?

So she was like in tears.

• 1:24:13Speaker 03

Yes, I don't want to get controversial here, okay, but like, there's an interview, who was it? Shane Lee Woodley, I think there's like an interview, they're like, she's like, have you eaten yet? And she's like, yeah, and like, whatever, and it's like, so, but, to be fair, like, you, a lot, you don't have time a lot of the time, it's so hard to eat at these things, and then the Emmys? Are you kidding? You have to pay for your snacks? It's a concession stand. Like I'm, you're telling me I'm in like Dolce and Gabbana over here and I'm over here like being like

• 1:24:43Drew Afualo?

Do you guys have tap to pay?

• 1:24:46Speaker 03

So I'm having to use my, you know, and it doesn't recognize me? No, because I look so good. Like my face ID doesn't work. Like, you know, like this is not what I look like. And so, yeah, and they're like, and they upcharge it, you know, I'm getting nachos and like a soda pop and like meanwhile, they're like, that'd be thirty dollars. What?

• 1:25:02Drew Afualo?

  Thirty dollars?

• 1:25:03Speaker 03

What are you talking about? What am I at a Dodgers game? It's crazy.

• 1:25:09Speaker 03

  Emmys, like, are you joking?

• 1:25:11Drew Afualo?

  They cannot spare the popcorn.

• 1:25:12Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:25:13Drew Afualo?

  They can't.

• 1:25:13Speaker 03

They can't. I can't believe it. Actually, my first time going, I literally could not stop talking.

• 1:25:21Speaker 03

I could not stop talking about it.

• 1:25:22Drew Afualo?

  You're getting so passionate.

• 1:25:23Speaker 03

I actually, you know, as mad as you were when you hit that kid, you like pushed him off that rock, that's where I'm at with this.

• 1:25:28Drew Afualo?

You saying concession stand pricing at the Emmys?

• 1:25:30Speaker 03

Yes, literally. You think I had that money? No, I spent it all on glam. Are you kidding?

• 1:25:36Drew Afualo?

You're like, you have my money.

• 1:25:37Speaker 03

  Yes, you literally do.

• 1:25:39Drew Afualo?

  And the show.

• 1:25:40Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:25:41Drew Afualo?

  About.

• 1:25:41Speaker 03

  I can't.

• 1:25:43Drew Afualo?

Yeah, the snacks thing was a, is a big hit. I even, I even told people too that I've pitched that idea before and it's been shot down because they were like, no, because it's a mess and also like people won't want to do that. But when I bring snacks, like it only, I only needed one yes. I kept asking. And then when they let me do it, I brought like, I brought like fun snacks, but then I brought like vegan snacks. I brought gluten free snacks.

• 1:26:05Speaker 03

  That's me, baby.

• 1:26:06Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I brought all those just in case.

• 1:26:08Speaker 03

  It's so smart.

• 1:26:08Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:09Speaker 03

  Especially Hollywood. You never know.

• 1:26:10Drew Afualo?

As I said, I never know what you guys are on. So that's why I gotta give you, I gotta give you options.

• 1:26:14Speaker 03

Do you have raw beef? And you're like, why? Yes, I do.

• 1:26:16Drew Afualo?

I do, in fact. I have meat sticks.

• 1:26:18Speaker 03

  Here you go. Yes.

• 1:26:20Drew Afualo?

But I think you're amazing and thank you so much for coming on the show. You're fucking awesome.

• 1:26:24Speaker 03

  This was the best time.

• 1:26:24Drew Afualo?

You're amazing. Uh, before we wrap though, I would like, uh, to know if you have any advice for any creatives who want to get into the industry, because obviously you've been working since you were, uh, were a child.

• 1:26:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:26:36Drew Afualo?

Um, well, now into adulthood. Um, but also anyone who is becoming a parent or a mom, right? Like getting, and also wants to be a creative or is A creative and wants to have children like that kind of balance. Do you have any advice for them?

• 1:26:50Speaker 03

Yeah, I think like especially in the creative world, I feel like we're never done. Like we're never like, oh yeah, like I hit my peak or even though I'm, you know, sweet life is acting Cody is one thing, but like, you know, like, yeah. But like, I feel like always working on it. Like it's almost like, um, like an athlete, you know, you should always be sharpening your tools. You can always find new things and, and understand a character differently and having compassion for people is, I think what makes an actor so great is when you can understand why somebody does what they do and understand the like, the mental health side of things is such a big part of my job that I love. Cause I'm like, yeah, okay. We can look at it from the outside and be like, oh, she did a crazy thing, huh? But like, at the same time, it's like, oh no, she was like

• 1:27:34Speaker 03

really struggling and didn't have the right tools to do what she should have done. So this is what she ended up doing, you know? Um, and so I think just like constantly knowing that like there is no shame in taking classes. There's no shame in getting a coach. There is no shame in like still working on what you're doing. Cause if Meryl Streep is still seeing somebody, we can all see somebody, you know what I mean? Like if the queen herself, like, you know? Um, and for moms like, oh, I mean, I have to take my own advice with it, but like it, this is, this moment right now is not forever.

• 1:28:09Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:10Speaker 03

I think I get so stuck in my head of like, when he's crying or something's happening and I'm starting to like, be like, I'm so tired. I can't do this forever.

• 1:28:18Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:18Speaker 03

Reminding myself of like, oh no, I literally just have to get past this moment.

• 1:28:22Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:22Speaker 03

And then we can keep going, you know?

• 1:28:25Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:25Speaker 03

Um, and also just like reaching out for help because like, you have a community around you. You have people who will help and if you don't, time to make new friends. Because you need people around you who are gonna support you and it literally takes a village. Like when I first had my, my boy, when I first had Levi, um, I was trying to figure out because he was born with a cleft. So I was trying to figure out the whole, um, breastfeeding situation.

• 1:28:50Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:51Speaker 03

Um, cause he wasn't able to latch and then, um, I was doing the pumping, but then I was like, You know, he, we basically just, I was like, I think we need to do some donor milk. So they, it's really cool how they do it, cause they basically, you know, women will uh bring in their, their milk. And um they will put a bunch of different people's milk all mixed in together. So like if you have um, if you ate something that had peanuts in it.

• 1:29:15Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:15Speaker 03

You know, that could then go into the breast milk. So they do like very little bit. So it's really so many different people's breast milk went into this one little bottle.

• 1:29:23Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:23Speaker 03

And our pediatrician, he was like, it's so amazing, cause back in the day, people, and especially in like their tribes. All the women would lactate at the same time. And so there was never on one woman's shoulders to feed the baby. Cause it was like, if you're not able to, or you need a nap or whatever, you handed them off to your sisters, to your mother, to your, you know, your people. And um, and same thing with, you know, you'd wake up from a nap and be like, where's the baby? I don't know, somebody's got, you know, it was a community thing. And he's like, you're not supposed to do this.

• 1:29:54Drew Afualo?

  Alone.

• 1:29:54Speaker 03

Just by yourselves, or just you and your husband. Cause that is crazy. Like.

• 1:29:58Drew Afualo?

  And isolating, yeah.

• 1:29:59Speaker 03

Yes, you're supposed to have people that you lean on. And like, with that being said, like, I'm not having all my friends breastfeed my baby, but. But.

• 1:30:07Drew Afualo?

  The idea is community.

• 1:30:08Speaker 03

It's beautiful, yes. And knowing that like, it is something that I can call, you know, I have four older sisters and I can call them and I can. You know, like lean on my friends and I can, my mom has been with me every step. She's literally watching my baby right now. Like, she has been the best grandma ever. And like, she's just incredible. And so, yeah, so you're not alone. Ask for help and things that are hard will pass.

• 1:30:34Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:30:34Speaker 03

  And.

• 1:30:35Drew Afualo?

And validating, I think that's very validating when you say that too. When you talk about struggle and hardship as a mother and also a working mom.

• 1:30:41Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:30:42Drew Afualo?

Right? So it's like, it's hard because you'll, because you're naturally very empathetic, but now obviously you're a mom, so your heart's grown a thousand times bigger.

• 1:30:50Speaker 03

Yeah, I was like the Grinch before. I didn't even know.

• 1:30:52Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you're like, I didn't realize I could be even more emotional than I already am.

• 1:30:56Speaker 03

It's scary, yeah. I scare myself.

• 1:30:58Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and I think that's like, that's a hallmark of a really good mom and someone who like cares a lot, but also remembers that you matter too. Right, like what you want matters, like what your passions and desires are before you had a baby and now still matter.

• 1:31:13Speaker 03

We were at the hospital when he got his first surgery done and I was, I was sitting there. And I, I was, I had been so worried prior to surgery, so I didn't sleep for like forty eight hours. I just was not doing well. Once he, I knew he was okay. I finally, everything just started shutting down. And I, I was holding him and I looked at one of the nurses and I was like, could you take him for a second? And I was like, I'm actually gonna pass out. And they were like, mom, because they all call you mom there, um, because they don't know your name. They always call everybody mom, like, mom, can you go home actually? They're like, we got this. And they're like, your husband's here, he can take care of him, because he, um, my son had to spend the night. Um, and so they're like, could you just go home for two hours and take a nap?

• 1:31:57Speaker 03

Or whatever, they're like, go eat, leave. And they're like, I know it's gonna be hard. And I was like, you don't have to say, you don't have to tell me twice, actually. I'm gonna go. And I went and I stayed at a friend's house and I just napped for like three hours and I ate and I was able to be like.

• 1:32:15Speaker 03

And now I can go back and I'm not a bad mom because I said, hey, I need to like, put my mask on first before I can, you know.

• 1:32:24Speaker 03

In the moment, you feel like, you always feel like you're.

• 1:32:26Drew Afualo?

Yeah, well, and it's because you're a good mom, right? Like, and you love your baby. Obviously, it's, it's, again, it's one of those things where like two truths can. There can be two truths at the same time, right? Like you can love your baby and also know I need to take care of myself. Otherwise, I can't take care of my baby. Again, the mask thing, like you just said. But I think you're amazing and incredible. And you're so resilient and strong and you're doing it all with.

• 1:32:47Speaker 03

Cause it's all you two. We're the same person, remember? So everything you're saying, vice versa.

• 1:32:51Drew Afualo?

No, thank you. I love you. You're the best. That's why I said, and I said, and you're doing it all with hemorrhoids. Look at you.

• 1:32:59Speaker 03

That makes me a superhero. They called me the Roy. I can't, I can't, I'm not gonna get myself.

• 1:33:09Drew Afualo?

Well, thank you so much for coming on the show. I fucking love you.
