AI seems to just be like the rest of us in the sense of like-

• 1:02Drew Afualo?

It wants to make movies and art.

• 1:03Speaker 02

It wants to make movies and art. It's like, literally, I'm actually a poet.

• 1:07Drew Afualo?

Fuck you. Well, especially when it holds the only way to kill AI, Muna has to keep making music.

• 1:20Drew Afualo?

• 1:43Speaker 02

  Happy Pride.

• 1:46Drew Afualo?

Thank you, guys, for coming back.

• 1:47Speaker 04

  Thanks for having us.

• 1:48Drew Afualo?

I have never in my life been harassed by gay people like I was when I met y'all. So I just need you to know that. Never in my life have I been harassed by this.

• 1:57Speaker 02

  By us?

• 1:57Drew Afualo?

In a good way, in a beautiful way, and it's still scary, but still beautiful.

• 2:02Speaker 04

Let's keep it beautiful, everyone out there.

• 2:03Drew Afualo?

They just do not fucking play about you guys.

• 2:06Speaker 04

  Damn.

• 2:06Drew Afualo?

At all, which I appreciate. I think it's wonderful.

• 2:09Speaker 04

Thank you for holding us down.

• 2:11Speaker 02

Our tour, our production manager, Ivan Berry, sent us like a page from a book that his girlfriend is reading right now.

• 2:20Speaker 04

  This was iconic.

• 2:21Speaker 02

  That was like- Uh, dete-

• 2:25Speaker 05

  Detective.

• 2:25Speaker 02

  Detective?

• 2:26Speaker 05

  Detective.

• 2:27Speaker 02

A butch detective that's interviewing like a, a woman who is be- is like trying to like signify that she's gay.

• 2:35Speaker 05

  Right.

• 2:36Speaker 02

And so she like starts playing Moon on her phone and then like acts like it's.

• 2:40Speaker 05

She's like, I love this song.

• 2:42Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 2:44Drew Afualo?

  That's your legacy.

• 2:45Speaker 02

Cute that we've made it into these like.

• 2:47Drew Afualo?

  Into these fiction books.

• 2:49Speaker 02

  Romance novels, yeah.

• 2:50Drew Afualo?

  These smutty ass books.

• 2:51Speaker 05

It does seem very smutty. It was pretty sweet.

• 2:54Speaker 02

Yeah, I think I need to, I think I need to.

• 2:56Speaker 05

  I love smut.

• 2:57Drew Afualo?

  I love smut too.

• 2:58Speaker 05

  I love detective smut.

• 3:00Speaker 02

You're not reading smut, you're just reading like kind of bad crime novels.

• 3:03Speaker 05

I'm just reading like the most scary thing that you could be reading.

• 3:07Speaker 02

I have to be honest with you, I, I started reading one of the books, or I started listening to one of the books by the author that you read.

• 3:14Speaker 05

  Yeah, it's.

• 3:15Speaker 02

  I'm gonna name her name.

• 3:16Speaker 05

You name her name, I don't know.

• 3:18Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 3:19Speaker 05

  Expose her.

• 3:20Speaker 02

Like bestselling crime author, her name is Karen Slaughter, I'm sure it's not her real name, I think it's probably.

• 3:26Drew Afualo?

Slaughter is an issue, that would be crazy if it was her real name. That would be crazy.

• 3:29Speaker 02

I don't find it to actually be that good.

• 3:30Speaker 05

She was born into a career path.

• 3:32Speaker 02

  The writing is.

• 3:33Speaker 05

  Is not the best.

• 3:34Speaker 02

  Insanely bad.

• 3:35Drew Afualo?

  But you know, that's sometimes.

• 3:37Speaker 02

  I like that.

• 3:38Drew Afualo?

  Looking for.

• 3:38Speaker 02

No, I like that. I like that.

• 3:40Drew Afualo?

Let's move the plot. So I can fuck.

• 3:42Speaker 02

  I like.

• 3:43Drew Afualo?

So I can fuck again in a different way, different outfit.

• 3:46Speaker 02

I like the, um, cause I listen to audiobook, I like the person reading the book, there's something like, uh, that it's doing to me subconsciously. Where I'm just like, oh, safe. Okay, like the bad, the fact that the writing is bad.

• 4:00Speaker 05

No, sometimes, sometimes, no, but it's just how I am. Like there's something about the, the bad writing that feels safe. Oh, yeah.

• 4:07Speaker 02

  What the hell is that?

• 4:08Drew Afualo?

  What the hell?

• 4:09Speaker 02

  What the hell?

• 4:10Drew Afualo?

They do not like bad writing.

• 4:12Speaker 02

No, honestly though, I do, I can understand that it doesn't hit, bad writing doesn't hit me like that, but I do like bad art sometimes.

• 4:20Speaker 05

Yeah, totally, me too. All art is valid. You need bad art, actually.

• 4:24Speaker 02

Yes, exactly. I'm interested in, in all forms.

• 4:27Speaker 05

Sometimes bad art in a way is better than good art in the way that it makes me feel.

• 4:31Drew Afualo?

Right, especially when I watch like. If I watch like a cringey ass show, that's like not good. Sometimes they'll be like, why would you watch that? I'm like, well, I know it's not gonna win an Emmy.

• 4:41Speaker 05

I think, I think they're like, I think in this day and age of like actual like shit media. That you have to have different levels of media that you consume because you're just trying to avoid the base level media in which we are fed.

• 4:56Drew Afualo?

  Right, I agree.

• 4:57Speaker 05

That's what that, those novels are for me. Like if I, that's like me being kind of like, if I don't wanna be on TikTok.

• 5:06Speaker 04

The book version of the brain rot.

• 5:10Speaker 05

It's brain rot, but it doesn't do the same thing where my brain feels is like negatively used.

• 5:17Drew Afualo?

And you can discern, like if you're actively listening and going, this isn't great, but I am enjoying myself. I have quite a few things I enjoy like that. Do you guys have any TV shows or anything you've been watching? You're like this, I mean, I love this, but it's, I know most people might not.

• 5:30Speaker 04

I, you know, the, the bad thing that I've been enjoying is like bad paintings. People showing off their bad, people showing off their bad paintings on the internet. I love that.

• 5:41Drew Afualo?

Do you guys get bad fan art?

• 5:44Speaker 04

  Well, you know what?

• 5:44Speaker 05

That's more painful. We get some really good.

• 5:48Drew Afualo?

  But it's bad.

• 5:51Speaker 05

Also, like, do people give you paintings of yourself?

• 5:54Drew Afualo?

  Sometimes, yeah.

• 5:55Speaker 05

Yeah, and it's like, this is so nice, but like, uh, what am I gonna do?

• 5:58Drew Afualo?

  With the picture of myself?

• 6:01Speaker 05

You want me to put up a picture?

• 6:03Drew Afualo?

I literally got sent one at the very beginning of me doing this. I got someone who's beautiful. It does look just like me. It's, it's not bad. And my mom was like, you gonna hang this? I go, where? In my own home? Uh, a giant picture of myself.

• 6:18Speaker 04

It creates a sort of dynamic.

• 6:27Drew Afualo?

She opens her closet and it's all him.

• 6:31Drew Afualo?

But it's all me. I just pray at my own altar.

• 6:33Speaker 05

  I like that.

• 6:35Drew Afualo?

  I'm convincing myself.

• 6:38Speaker 05

It's like avant garde, I feel like too. You have to like have it be really like 3D and like include all the weird art. Yeah, we've gotten some weird stuff. We, somebody once made like, um.

• 6:48Speaker 02

Uh, one of the first like murals of us that we got was us as as Harry Potter, right?

• 6:54Speaker 04

  I don't remember.

• 6:55Speaker 02

I think I still have it somewhere in my house.

• 6:57Drew Afualo?

  Interesting choice for y'all.

• 6:57Speaker 02

  We have, we also have.

• 6:59Speaker 04

Listen, we've been around a long time. This was before she was talking.

• 7:01Speaker 02

This was before all of the things, yeah.

• 7:03Speaker 04

When it was just like gay, but yeah.

• 7:06Speaker 02

Yeah, it was just a pure, yeah, it was just, it was once pure.

• 7:10Speaker 04

  Cool, though.

• 7:11Speaker 02

  I know.

• 7:11Drew Afualo?

I bet y'all have a ton of fanfiction written about you.

• 7:14Speaker 04

  We had some.

• 7:15Speaker 02

I would love to read it.

• 7:16Speaker 04

We have some fanfiction, the first fanfiction that was ever written about us was.

• 7:19Speaker 02

  Oh, the Harry Styles?

• 7:20Speaker 04

Was that, well, they were writing, they were writing Harry, they were writing Harry Styles fanfiction when we opened for him on his first tour.

• 7:27Speaker 02

I remember, I forgot about this.

• 7:28Speaker 04

To anyone who was there, we love you.

• 7:30Drew Afualo?

Yes, I do remember that, yeah.

• 7:32Speaker 04

  But.

• 7:32Drew Afualo?

  I like what you did.

• 7:33Speaker 04

Comment if you were there. We, they were writing us into kind of as sort of background fodder.

• 7:40Drew Afualo?

  Oh, I see.

• 7:41Speaker 04

For the story, being like, and Muna was also there backstage or whatever.

• 7:46Drew Afualo?

You guys were like a B-side character.

• 7:47Speaker 04

  Yeah, we were B-side characters.

• 7:48Speaker 05

I can't believe we did that, that's so funny.

• 7:51Speaker 04

But I haven't really gone into the fanfiction world in a very long time.

• 7:54Speaker 05

I don't know the internet like that.

• 7:55Drew Afualo?

  There's a ton about y'all.

• 7:56Speaker 05

Like, where do you find that? Reddit?

• 7:58Drew Afualo?

  WLW fanfic, I bet.

• 8:00Speaker 05

  Whoa, WLW.

• 8:02Drew Afualo?

I bet it's on AO3, like, that's, that's probably, that's where all the dirty is.

• 8:06Speaker 05

Wait, you're, you're speaking like someone who knows.

• 8:07Drew Afualo?

Right. Uh, let me put y'all on AO3.

• 8:09Speaker 02

Are you live on the internet? You're on forums and stuff like that?

• 8:12Drew Afualo?

Not like, not for- forums, what an old word.

• 8:15Speaker 05

  Yeah, wait, wait, no, wait.

• 8:18Drew Afualo?

  The forums, the message boards?

• 8:20Speaker 02

I love, I love a forum in my, in my day.

• 8:23Drew Afualo?

AO3, I'm just a fanfic girl, like I was back in the day.

• 8:26Speaker 05

  What kind?

• 8:27Drew Afualo?

So that's where the smuttiest ones live.

• 8:29Speaker 05

Wait, wait, wait, what were you looking at if you don't mind?

• 8:32Speaker 02

I know your mom is in the room. Was your like?

• 8:34Drew Afualo?

I don't care, my mom's heard worse things I've said in this room, I'll tell you that.

• 8:37Speaker 02

But like your early like sex experiences, was it like literatica?

• 8:41Drew Afualo?

No, yeah, honestly, yes, it was like, it was fanfiction, it was also like on Tumblr, Tumblr was a big, lots of slutty shit on, on Tumblr. Yeah, and SFW.

• 8:50Speaker 02

  Oh, okay, okay, cool.

• 8:52Drew Afualo?

  And SFW.

• 8:53Speaker 02

  And SFW forum.

• 8:54Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 8:55Speaker 02

  Were you in the chatrooms?

• 8:57Drew Afualo?

No, not really. It was never, it was almost like I was doing it like secretly, like I was, but not intentionally.

• 9:02Speaker 02

  I'm happy for that.

• 9:03Speaker 04

  No, that's good.

• 9:04Drew Afualo?

I just wasn't looking for community. I was like, if I'm gonna flick my bean, I'm gonna do it privately. I don't need, I don't need to, to sound off about it, you know?

• 9:11Speaker 04

Did you have like fictional characters that you like were interested in that way about?

• 9:15Drew Afualo?

Well, I was a big Jonas Brothers girl back in the day, when I was young. Yeah, me and my lesbian sister.

• 9:21Speaker 02

  Which one?

• 9:22Drew Afualo?

Both were writing fanfic about them.

• 9:23Speaker 02

It's kind of lesbian too. They're lesbian adjacent.

• 9:26Drew Afualo?

They are. There is a pipeline for sure.

• 9:28Speaker 04

There are like, like fellas that like if you had a crush on them, you might be sus.

• 9:33Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 9:34Speaker 02

It's funny now too, because, because like I, I have seen.

• 9:38Speaker 04

They might be in that category.

• 9:39Drew Afualo?

  There's something there.

• 9:40Speaker 02

I've seen comments of, of girls who like used to be, well, obviously your fucking fiance, it's like.

• 9:45Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 9:45Speaker 02

She used to be a Joe Jonas.

• 9:47Drew Afualo?

Yeah, so is my sister, see? There's a pipeline there. I always think lesbians like Joe.

• 9:51Speaker 04

  I think it's Joe.

• 9:52Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, I think so too.

• 9:53Speaker 04

Did this rate goes like Nick?

• 9:54Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 9:55Speaker 04

They were like, he has diabetes.

• 9:57Drew Afualo?

  And I'm loving that.

• 9:58Speaker 04

And it's, and we're bringing awareness to the world about it. I remember this, people were writing, they were like, guys, he just announced he had that.

• 10:06Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and, and now that's my man. Yeah, the diabetes really pushed it over for me. I, well, I wrote fanfic. I wrote about the Jonas Brothers, but there was no smut in it at all, because I wrote it when I was like eleven or twelve.

• 10:18Speaker 02

You were just wanna be friends?

• 10:19Drew Afualo?

No, I wrote it, I'm not even kidding, I wrote it as I wasn't even in it. You would think I would write myself in the story.

• 10:25Speaker 02

I don't think people are doing that. I think people, they're just imagining what it'd be like for me to fly.

• 10:31Drew Afualo?

Yeah, me, I'm just writing like a creepy third party. I was like, okay, well now I'm gonna write about them kissing each other.

• 10:36Speaker 04

  Amnesiac narrator?

• 10:37Drew Afualo?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, like, I'm in the cuck chair. I put myself in the cuck chair, watching them.

• 10:41Speaker 04

  Interesting.

• 10:42Speaker 02

Them kissing each other, uh, we don't have to get too into it, but them as in the brothers?

• 10:46Drew Afualo?

No, no, no. That would be crazy.

• 10:50Speaker 02

  No, true, that's.

• 10:51Drew Afualo?

I would be in a very different message board if I was doing that. No, it was, um.

• 10:55Speaker 04

It's like a girl who meets them.

• 10:56Drew Afualo?

Yeah, but it was honestly, I wrote it about Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez was my main villain in it at the time, because they had beef. All of them had beef. And the diabetes was a huge moving piece of my story. It didn't need to be, but it was.

• 11:08Speaker 02

  But it can go.

• 11:09Drew Afualo?

Yeah, it was, oh, I wrote like thirty chapters.

• 11:12Speaker 02

  That's really creative.

• 11:13Drew Afualo?

  And I handwrote them too.

• 11:14Speaker 04

  That's actually, that's actually unbelievable.

• 11:17Speaker 02

It's really creative. Do you still have this?

• 11:19Speaker 04

  We gotta keep this alive.

• 11:20Drew Afualo?

I'm trying, I'm looking for them. They're in my, my, my mom and dad's house somewhere. I've been looking for them for years. I, I, cause a lot of people are like, you don't wanna feed it to us, cause you're embarrassed. I'm like, I don't give a fuck, I would love to, it'd be great for me.

• 11:32Speaker 02

Wait, have you had them on the podcast?

• 11:34Drew Afualo?

  No, I've met them.

• 11:35Speaker 02

You should, you should have them on, cause they just.

• 11:37Drew Afualo?

I've been trying, you, we can let them know.

• 11:39Speaker 02

  I'll, I, we'll let them know.

• 11:40Drew Afualo?

You guys are almost like, they're like your Wario.

• 11:43Speaker 04

  It's like them, they're more us. It's like, there's a whole.

• 11:48Drew Afualo?

  You're the Jonas Brothers Mario.

• 11:49Speaker 04

  There's a Spider-Man.

• 11:50Drew Afualo?

  You're my Mario. You're, they're the Wario.

• 11:55Drew Afualo?

In this situation, they are. But I wasn't a.

• 11:57Speaker 04

  It's Pride Month after all.

• 11:59Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, exactly. And I wasn't a girl.

• 12:01Speaker 02

  That's cute.

• 12:01Drew Afualo?

Yeah, but that's, I guess, me being straight. But also, he was the only one that ended up with a brown girl. I think I just knew. I think my third eye was like, this one's fucking with people of color.

• 12:11Drew Afualo?

Now, I read, I've read like fanfiction about fake characters too. Do you guys, are you familiar with Avatar, The Last Airbender?

• 12:17Speaker 02

I mean, I, I, we're like. Light. I've been meaning to get around to that.

• 12:20Drew Afualo?

You should watch that. That's one of my favorite shows of all time.

• 12:22Speaker 04

  It's good.

• 12:23Drew Afualo?

It holds up over time. I watched it again recently, like, front to back.

• 12:26Speaker 02

Okay, you're convincing me. Maybe this summer is the time.

• 12:29Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you gotta watch it on tour. It's so good.

• 12:31Speaker 02

Is it like a long, it's like, a lot of seasons?

• 12:33Drew Afualo?

I, I think it's like, three or four seasons. It's not terrible. Yeah, and it's all cartoon, but it's impeccable.

• 12:40Speaker 02

I love cartoons. I mean, I mainly, my favorite kinds of movies are kids' movies.

• 12:43Drew Afualo?

  What are your favorite movies?

• 12:44Speaker 02

Okay, well, first of all, I have to, I have to give a shout out to Hoppers, because I just.

• 12:48Drew Afualo?

Oh my gosh, I haven't watched Hoppers yet, but I heard it was really good.

• 12:50Speaker 02

I watched it, like, three times this past week. We were, we were.

• 12:55Drew Afualo?

  Gotta shout out Hoppers.

• 12:56Speaker 02

Huge franchise. Huge new franchise, Hoppers. It's amazing. It's giving, like, Ferngully, but updated, and.

• 13:04Drew Afualo?

  I love Ferngully.

• 13:05Speaker 02

Yeah, it's like, my, my partner also was reminding me that, remember in Ferngully, there's like, the, uh, musical sequence, because it's like, his, like, tape player gets, gets like, somehow sent with him.

• 13:16Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 13:17Speaker 02

When he gets shrunk in, that he has like, a massive tape player with him. So like, they're like, they have a dance party. All the fairies have a dance party in the forest. They have a similar thing.

• 13:24Drew Afualo?

That's very MUNA concert, if we're being real.

• 13:26Speaker 02

  But it's like, the kids.

• 13:27Drew Afualo?

  That's what it feels like.

• 13:28Speaker 02

I feel like kids, I'm taking this question as your favorite kids movies because it's otherwise I get too overwhelmed. But it's like, I like kids movies that have like these kinds of like radical uh like storylines about either like alternative family structure or like revolution.

• 13:48Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, totally. Yeah, absolutely.

• 13:50Speaker 04

  Bugs Life?

• 13:50Speaker 02

  Uh Bugs Life, absolutely.

• 13:52Drew Afualo?

Bugs Life's a great one, yeah.

• 13:52Speaker 02

  Monsters Inc.

• 13:53Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, I love Monsters Inc.

• 13:55Speaker 04

Bugs Life made me a communist.

• 13:56Speaker 02

  Totally.

• 13:57Drew Afualo?

  T-shirt, New Moon Emerged.

• 13:58Speaker 04

Yeah. Fuck, someone's gonna make it. You can have that.

• 14:02Drew Afualo?

  You can have that one.

• 14:03Speaker 02

The band of like, I mean like, yeah, the like circus freaks, like the circus freak bugs, like the traveling troops.

• 14:09Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 14:09Speaker 02

  The like crossdressing ladybug.

• 14:11Speaker 04

Also, they were, they were being, their labor was being exploited, right?

• 14:17Speaker 02

Yeah, totally. For uh That's true, by the grasshoppers.

• 14:18Speaker 04

By the grasshopper class. So go ahead and go back and re-watch that.

• 14:22Speaker 02

Yeah, a lot of these ones.

• 14:24Speaker 04

  It hits.

• 14:25Drew Afualo?

This kind of reminds me, this is a strange segue, but it does remind me of it. Uh, we were all at Lucy Dacus's party.

• 14:31Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 14:31Drew Afualo?

We were all there. We also, I spoke with you. I didn't get to chat with y'all.

• 14:34Speaker 02

  I definitely didn't go.

• 14:36Speaker 04

  You weren't, you weren't?

• 14:37Speaker 02

I was going to go. I wouldn't be surprised if, if Jo's didn't make it. I know, I know I didn't that night. I know I didn't, because Amber came with you, right?

• 14:43Speaker 04

Oh, yeah, Amber was with us.

• 14:45Speaker 02

Yeah, that's true. I was too tired.

• 14:46Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 14:47Speaker 02

  Sorry, Lucy. I love you.

• 14:48Drew Afualo?

Well, I went and while we were there, at one point, um, I was talking with Lucy and a few other people, my friends, Amanda and Carrie, they were there too. But she was like, I have a question, because we were talking about kids media.

• 14:59Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 15:00Drew Afualo?

Movies. And she was like, if you see, have you ever seen, um, what's Wild Robot? Y'all watch Wild Robot?

• 15:06Speaker 04

  Never seen it.

• 15:07Drew Afualo?

It's a good one. It's a great one. I love that one. But she was like, do you think that these kids movies with robots are like WALL-E, right? Do you think they're encouraging?

• 15:16Speaker 04

Like manufacturing consent for like AI or something?

• 15:19Drew Afualo?

Yes, like robots, which I was like, this is the most Lucy Dacus question to ask me at a birthday party.

• 15:25Speaker 04

It is interesting. Because you think about the cocoa robots.

• 15:30Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 15:30Speaker 04

That are on the streets delivering food allegedly.

• 15:33Speaker 02

  Their names are Coco.

• 15:35Drew Afualo?

  But who's to say?

• 15:35Speaker 04

  I've never.

• 15:36Drew Afualo?

  Opened her up.

• 15:37Speaker 02

Well, when you see them struggling, like, I immediately feel compassion.

• 15:42Speaker 04

  Cause they have cute eyes.

• 15:43Speaker 02

Cause they have cute little eyes.

• 15:44Speaker 04

They're like blink blink blink blink.

• 15:46Speaker 02

  I don't know.

• 15:47Speaker 05

Who gives consent for AI, though?

• 15:49Drew Afualo?

That's what, that's, that's what she was asking.

• 15:51Speaker 05

Because AI to me is like, the robots in Wally, like, they are given like a human characteristic that makes you feel empathy for them. AI is just this void.

• 16:01Drew Afualo?

  Right, I agree.

• 16:02Speaker 04

  But also.

• 16:02Speaker 05

  How it's viewed.

• 16:04Drew Afualo?

  It's like the larger, yeah.

• 16:05Speaker 02

If AI was a robot that I was talking to that sat next to me, I would think then that.

• 16:10Speaker 04

But the, the, the AI robots are like, you go, girl.

• 16:13Speaker 02

  Well, that's.

• 16:13Speaker 04

Go, good for you for setting that boundary or whatever.

• 16:16Drew Afualo?

For real, they're, they're parroting back what you'd like to hear.

• 16:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:19Drew Afualo?

We were talking about the movie Iron Giant.

• 16:21Speaker 04

  Oh, God, that movie smacks.

• 16:23Drew Afualo?

I fucking love that movie. And y'all love Chris Fleming like I do. And I told Chris Fleming that the plot of Iron Giant is what I imagine his childhood was like. And then he was like, what, me in the forest making No Friends? I go, right, that's how I think you turned out this way. But that's just a theory. But either way, we were talking about Iron Giant and she was like, do you think that's like big tech, like, the, the robot?

• 16:44Speaker 02

  Uh huh.

• 16:44Drew Afualo?

And then I, I told her, honestly, no, I don't think so in the case of Iron Giant, because he was supposed to be used as a war machine, but he didn't wanna be.

• 16:51Speaker 04

  Totally different political implications.

• 16:54Drew Afualo?

That's what I said. I said, and he sacrifices himself at the end.

• 16:56Speaker 04

Also, guys, Iron Giant's a period piece. Sorry, I hate to say that, but it's not, yeah, it's not set in contemporary times. It's about, it's about the Cold War.

• 17:05Drew Afualo?

Yeah, they never would have known either, about AI coming to where it is now.

• 17:09Speaker 04

  Damn, it smacks.

• 17:10Speaker 02

I read a crazy article in the, I, I just came back from visiting my grandma for a couple of days and my grandma reads, she lives in Phoenix and she reads the like, uh, newspaper there every morning.

• 17:20Speaker 04

  Oh, wow.

• 17:21Speaker 02

She's about to be ninety-five. She reads the newspaper.

• 17:28Speaker 00

• 18:12Speaker 00

Acast helps creators launch, grow, and monetize their podcasts everywhere. Acast.com.

• 18:22Speaker 02

Third day. And one of the articles that she shoved my way was about, like, this discussion around, have you heard that, like, people are referring to AI and robots as clankers?

• 18:39Drew Afualo?

Yes, I have. I've heard that too.

• 18:40Speaker 04

That's like a very reddish thing, I think.

• 18:41Drew Afualo?

They'll come up with a slur for anything.

• 18:43Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 18:44Drew Afualo?

They're gonna work up a slur for anything.

• 18:45Speaker 02

Right. And it has started this, like, discussion of, like, um, I don't know, they were talking about, well, they were talking about a video that, like, we invited her on TikTok where some comedian was like, when, like, my daughter brings home, like, a clanker. But then, like, the, the...

• 19:05Drew Afualo?

Is it like Futurama, like she's dating a clanker?

• 19:08Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah, she's dating, like, a robot, but then it ends up that the robot is Wally, so the dad is, like, excited about it. But the undertones of it are crazy because it's like...

• 19:20Speaker 04

  It's racial, obviously.

• 19:21Speaker 02

  It's obvious racial undertones.

• 19:23Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 19:23Speaker 02

  And so, like, they're...

• 19:24Drew Afualo?

  Towards the robot.

• 19:25Speaker 02

  Towards the robot.

• 19:26Drew Afualo?

  Interesting.

• 19:27Speaker 02

But it's, but it's just like...

• 19:28Speaker 04

People are, like, transplanting their racist fears on, like...

• 19:31Drew Afualo?

  Onto robots.

• 19:32Speaker 02

Yeah. But then also, like, that's...

• 19:34Speaker 04

  Weird.

• 19:35Speaker 02

I think there's, I think... I think we have so much to like basically sort through.

• 19:40Speaker 04

How about just everybody take ten minutes just.

• 19:43Drew Afualo?

  Go outside.

• 19:44Speaker 04

  Go outside, go chill.

• 19:46Speaker 02

  Sit up with some friends.

• 19:47Drew Afualo?

  Get it.

• 19:48Speaker 04

  Long hair person.

• 19:49Speaker 02

I appreciate Lucy asking these questions and I appreciate Lucy.

• 19:52Drew Afualo?

Me too, honestly, we had a, we had a blast discussing it.

• 19:55Speaker 02

Yeah, she's so ferocious about AI in general.

• 19:57Drew Afualo?

No, trust me, I was like, yeah, I want to kill AI too, but the Iron Giant does not count.

• 20:01Speaker 02

  Uh-uh.

• 20:02Speaker 04

  No, Iron Giant has nothing.

• 20:03Drew Afualo?

He has nothing to do with this.

• 20:05Speaker 04

  Different metaphor completely.

• 20:06Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, I agree.

• 20:07Speaker 02

It's like as soon as they start like rusting, then I'm like.

• 20:10Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 20:11Speaker 02

I'm like, all of a sudden you're on my team. It's like, I don't, it doesn't matter. Like, I think if you're, if you're analog, what it is, is like if it's the robot, isn't, um, what's her name? The girl who plays Wednes- Wednesday? Jenny Ortega's in another movie that's about like robots, like.

• 20:27Drew Afualo?

Oh, I think I saw a trailer for it.

• 20:29Speaker 02

They go out of, you know, like what happens to the old robots? You know what I mean?

• 20:34Drew Afualo?

Damn. Take them out back and shoot them probably.

• 20:38Speaker 04

  In America.

• 20:39Drew Afualo?

In America for sure, yeah. We're talking about America, probably that. Okay, y'all. Can we stop settling for hair products that just don't work? I say it's time to shake up your routine and see how much better your hair can feel with Sephora's selection. I've been loving that Sephora has so many prestige hair brands all in one place, so it's actually easy to find products that work for your hair. If your hair needs repair, the K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask is one of those products people genuinely swear by. If you're trying to level up your wash day, the Kerastase Elixir All-Time Hair Oil leaves your hair looking ridiculously shiny without feeling heavy. I love knowing that Sephora curates the best of prestige hair care, so you're not just guessing.

• 21:22Drew Afualo?

You can shop products that are actually worth the investment because healthier looking hair starts with better products. Plus, Sephora makes it super convenient with free shipping and same-day delivery. Shop hair at Sephora and give your hair the upgrade it's been waiting for. It is spooky, like oaky spooky to me how ingrained technology's becoming though, in a lot of ways.

• 21:43Speaker 04

  I think people are gonna.

• 21:44Drew Afualo?

It is very, AI scares me on a whole nother level, but like, just even literal technology scares me, like Waymo's freaked me out too.

• 21:51Speaker 02

Oh my god, have you seen those like? Waymo's fucking scary. Have you seen those specs things?

• 21:55Drew Afualo?

  Which ones?

• 21:56Speaker 02

They're huge, uh, sunglasses that are basically like screens. They're called specs.

• 22:01Drew Afualo?

What? And you can watch stuff on them?

• 22:02Speaker 02

And yeah, and you look like a loser.

• 22:06Drew Afualo?

It's kind of like meta glasses where they're like, you can't even tell and there's huge lenses right here and it's like, yes, I can. And there's a, and there's a blinking.

• 22:14Speaker 04

Huge lens and a blinking big red light.

• 22:17Drew Afualo?

  So I can see.

• 22:17Speaker 04

  Like recording in progress.

• 22:18Drew Afualo?

Yeah, they're like, hello fellow patron and they're like literally the biggest lenses ever right there recording. I think the funniest part about them is that the quality of the video is bad.

• 22:28Speaker 04

  It's trash.

• 22:29Drew Afualo?

It's actually really bad. Like when you download the video, it's, it's like four eighty P.

• 22:32Speaker 02

Wait, so you've done this? You've tried this?

• 22:34Drew Afualo?

I have, I've, I've tried them on and then they're like, check out this video. And I was like, it looks bad.

• 22:40Speaker 04

They're really trying to convince you that not only like, is it so awesome to have a camera by your eye to record what you see, but that the glasses look good.

• 22:50Drew Afualo?

They look good. That's the part that's killing me.

• 22:51Speaker 04

These are different styles, but they're not styles. They, this is so fugly.

• 22:57Drew Afualo?

They're meta glasses and you can tell when you look at them.

• 23:00Speaker 04

I can't wait to see the social reckoning.

• 23:02Drew Afualo?

Oh yeah. About, about meta glasses or just tech and yeah, the tech of it all.

• 23:06Speaker 04

The follow up to the, to the first one.

• 23:09Speaker 02

I'm like, what are we gonna do?

• 23:11Drew Afualo?

I don't know. I think you guys have to keep making more music.

• 23:14Speaker 02

  Okay, totally.

• 23:15Drew Afualo?

That's the only way we can survive.

• 23:15Speaker 04

We need to produce more content.

• 23:17Drew Afualo?

You need, you need to make more music. You need to keep making art.

• 23:20Speaker 02

Like we're having this conversation, like we all work jobs that we don't have to interact with AI. Like it's totally a choice. We're just thinking about like, I know so many people are being like forced to.

• 23:30Drew Afualo?

  To work with it.

• 23:31Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 23:31Drew Afualo?

Or make it work in their everyday life.

• 23:33Speaker 02

  They have to.

• 23:34Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 23:34Speaker 02

Because people are like, you're gonna get fucking fired.

• 23:36Drew Afualo?

Well, that's why I said, I really, yeah, that's true.

• 23:38Speaker 04

It's eliminating a certain like class of worker in a really interesting way. Cause there are people who, it's like, the AI is not a mechanic. You know what I mean? Like certain jobs, certain kind of like, for now, like working class, blue collar jobs are actually safe from the like, job failure that's happening for like millennials who were told like, go get a college degree and you'll, you'll be rich or whatever. And it's like, no, you.

• 24:06Drew Afualo?

  Whatever lie.

• 24:06Speaker 02

But I do think it's crazy that like AI, and I've said this before, but it's like AI seems to just be like the rest of us in the sense of like.

• 24:13Drew Afualo?

It wants to make movies and art.

• 24:15Speaker 02

  Movies are.

• 24:15Speaker 04

  Fuck you.

• 24:16Speaker 02

  It's like literally I'm actually a poet.

• 24:17Speaker 04

  Do something else. Fuck you.

• 24:20Drew Afualo?

  Well, especially when it pulls.

• 24:21Speaker 04

  Their poetry sucks.

• 24:22Drew Afualo?

And it pulls from human experience. So like it literally can't create anything without an example.

• 24:28Speaker 04

  Yeah, of course.

• 24:29Drew Afualo?

So like it needs existing poetry in order to know how to write poetry, which is why you would think it would be good by that measure. But it can't because it comes from human experience.

• 24:38Speaker 02

Well, was it, what's the name of that girl band that, um, wow, that's a trip.

• 24:43Speaker 04

  It is.

• 24:44Speaker 02

  What's that again?

• 24:44Speaker 04

Mark Fisher's like idea of hauntology.

• 24:47Speaker 02

  Say, say it again.

• 24:48Speaker 04

  Hauntology.

• 24:49Speaker 02

Haunt? And say it one more time.

• 24:50Speaker 04

  Haunt? H A U N T.

• 24:53Speaker 02

Hauntology is like, um, a type of, it's a genre of music, like beer burial.

• 24:58Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 24:59Speaker 02

Stuff that kind of like makes, feels like it's like rediscovered from other times and it's like haunted.

• 25:04Speaker 04

That's like the cool, that's the cool version of it. That's rad.

• 25:08Speaker 02

What was that record when we were, we were watching YouTube the other day?

• 25:12Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 25:12Speaker 02

We were watching a YouTube. We were watching YouTube. In that thing, whatever, whatever.

• 25:16Speaker 04

Forgetting. I just mean to say that it's like a very Mark Fisher-y idea of like AI as this thing that can only re, that cannot create. It's only, it's permanent nostalgia.

• 25:29Speaker 02

  That can't make anything original.

• 25:31Drew Afualo?

But, but that is also like the human condition too.

• 25:33Speaker 02

Yeah, I was gonna say like, it reminds me of that band.

• 25:37Speaker 04

  But.

• 25:37Speaker 02

There's like a, I, I feel like for some reason this is part of lesbian culture. Like there's a, there's a, um, punk band that was started. Do you know this, the name of this band that I'm talking about with the girls? They were sisters and like their dad didn't show them any music.

• 25:53Speaker 04

  I have no idea.

• 25:54Speaker 02

And then they started a, a band.

• 25:56Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 25:57Speaker 02

  And, um.

• 25:58Speaker 04

  Are they a new band?

• 25:59Speaker 02

No, no, no. This was like in like, this was decades ago, but like he was thinking that they were gonna be like the new Beatles. Because he was like, this is like, they're gonna make the most original music.

• 26:11Drew Afualo?

Oh, because they've never listened to music?

• 26:13Speaker 02

Because they've never heard any music.

• 26:14Speaker 04

  Oh, interesting.

• 26:15Speaker 02

What they made frankly was like weird and like, and like.

• 26:21Drew Afualo?

Because there are fundamentals to music that you should probably know.

• 26:24Speaker 02

Yeah, so it's like, it is interesting, like, to a certain extent, like, we're all doing that.

• 26:29Drew Afualo?

  Right, creating from nothing.

• 26:31Speaker 02

  And then, and then.

• 26:32Speaker 04

  Yes, but we have souls.

• 26:34Drew Afualo?

Right, that's why I said, like, I think art comes from, it comes from, like, human experience, like, the ability to create, even if it's good or bad, depending, because it's subjective. It, it comes from living life, which is another thing.

• 26:46Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 26:47Drew Afualo?

That I've talked about with my sister about, like, the over policing on TikTok, like, the, the, the villain, villain, villainizing, essentially, anyone that missteps, in a way that's not, obviously, obviously terrible, but like, when they jumped on someone's throat by how they react to, like, their boyfriend or their girlfriend or whatever. And I'm always like, younger kids, COVID kids especially.

• 27:09Speaker 04

  Yeah, dude.

• 27:09Drew Afualo?

I'm extending empathy towards them in this sense, I'm like, of course you are so quick to judge and to write people off, because you haven't, like, actually lived life, like, you haven't gone out and loved people, like, through their mistakes, or like, made mistakes yourself, or like, experienced life in a way that corrects you and puts you on the right path, hopefully. So of course you have this extremely high standard for people to meet, because everything you've ever experienced has been through other people on the phone.

• 27:36Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 27:36Speaker 04

It's also like, the, the sad, it's also just the sad thing about, like, the state of, I don't know, people of the left in this country.

• 27:43Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 27:44Speaker 04

Where it's like, we have been so disempowered, that the only thing that feels powerful is the ways that we use language.

• 27:55Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and like, police each other.

• 27:56Speaker 04

And so, like, the policing of language becomes this, this, this alternative

• 28:01Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 28:01Speaker 04

  to, uh, structural power.

• 28:03Drew Afualo?

  Right, totally.

• 28:04Speaker 04

Because it actually ha- is, it has an impact, I don't know, I'm being like, you know, I'm not addressing myself well. But I think that is where it comes from, it's like,

• 28:12Speaker 02

  You're doing a good job.

• 28:13Speaker 04

Because they're, because we don't have this power in these other ways.

• 28:16Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 28:17Speaker 04

Language becomes the means through which we can, uh, get out the, the urge to change things.

• 28:24Drew Afualo?

  Totally.

• 28:25Speaker 04

Um, but it's ultimately, like, futile.

• 28:27Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and it doesn't feel good.

• 28:29Speaker 04

When you come up against the brick wall of like.

• 28:30Drew Afualo?

And especially when it eats itself, right? Like you're just, it's a snake eating its own tail at that point, which progresses nobody, moves nobody forward. And I also think it's an indicator of being young, right? Like we're older millennials, so like we've lived through many a tumultuous time. I also think though, that's why art is, has never been better, your album included. It's never been better because every time polit- geopolitical turmoil is happening everywhere and it's awful and awful and awful. The best, most iconic art comes out of those times. Unfortunately, because everyone's, you know, unhappy or pissed off. And that reminds me of your guys' song on your new album, Big Stick. Obviously, same kind of undertones, same themes.

• 29:11Drew Afualo?

Where, but I think that's why, that's why I said, the only way to kill AI, Muna has to keep making music. That is the true way to, to kill AI.

• 29:20Speaker 05

Fourth wall breaking? This is good.

• 29:22Drew Afualo?

  That's what I.

• 29:22Speaker 05

  Wait, you see that?

• 29:25Speaker 05

Wait, you see that? The big one was tied all the way back.

• 29:32Drew Afualo?

Thank you. But I do want to talk, that's a great transition to the new album.

• 29:37Drew Afualo?

Obviously Dancing on the Wall. My sister was, uh, my introduction to y'all. And you've only gotten better with time, if I may say so. And I do want to LOL really quickly, the last time y'all were here, I was like, is there anyone else you guys are looking at? That you're like, wow, this person really has something. And you're like, honestly, no. Uh, because every time we say it, they go past us.

• 29:59Drew Afualo?

We can't, and y'all were like, every time we, we say it out loud, that person just takes off. And I was like, y'all are oracles to me in that sense too, like chapel.

• 30:14Drew Afualo?

Y'all are just, you just pick correctly every single time. And I pick y'all. The vote means nothing, but you know, I'm gonna do my best.

• 30:23Speaker 02

I do think it's important though, to like, keep your eye on the up and comers.

• 30:28Speaker 02

It's like, they have stuff to teach us too.

• 30:30Drew Afualo?

Absolutely. I want to talk about the new album though. Like, how did it feel? Like, how does this one feel compared to your, your previous art?

• 30:37Speaker 04

It's funny, it's hard to say because it also has been such a long time since we put music out and it feels like so much has changed. Both just like, in the world, in the culture and like, in, I don't know, just in our lives.

• 30:49Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, we're different.

• 30:50Speaker 04

But I do think. It is really nice to have music out and as always, it just kind of makes you want to make more music.

• 30:59Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 30:59Speaker 04

  And like, keep.

• 31:01Speaker 02

  That's how you feel.

• 31:02Speaker 04

Kinda, yeah. Well, not fucking right now. I'm going through something.

• 31:08Speaker 04

But in the future, yeah. I think it it makes you, releasing something just makes you want to make the art that reacts against or with.

• 31:17Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 31:18Speaker 04

As a companion to your previous works.

• 31:20Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, totally.

• 31:22Speaker 04

Yeah, so I don't know, something like that.

• 31:24Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, I think that the the first like term that kind of came up in my head is like, it just feels like um we're at a point where, like, the the phrase that came up for me is like victory lap.

• 31:38Speaker 04

  Yeah, hell yeah.

• 31:39Speaker 02

I just feel like we've, we've been able to achieve so much as a band.

• 31:45Speaker 04

  Period.

• 31:45Speaker 02

In like, and and part of that is like just being together for uh this long, like.

• 31:51Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 31:51Speaker 02

Most bands don't make it past like the decade mark.

• 31:54Speaker 04

  No, true.

• 31:55Speaker 02

That's a huge thing to achieve. I know, can you believe it?

• 31:59Speaker 04

  I mean, I can.

• 32:00Speaker 02

  Yeah, so it's like.

• 32:01Speaker 04

  Some consent.

• 32:02Speaker 02

To be able to like have made four albums together.

• 32:05Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:06Speaker 02

Is huge. And then also, I think we just felt really in love with the songs on this record and we were like, to be like able to work on something like consistently, you know, like the year before we were putting, we put the album out. We were just going to the studio like, like it office hours and just like like consistently working on making every song as good as it could be and like experimenting with stuff and it's like that is the happiest that I am in my life when we're doing that.

• 32:42Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:42Speaker 02

Like it's, it's so cool to feel like you have like this purpose that you're really passionate about.

• 32:49Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:49Speaker 02

Um, and to get to like, yeah, share that and tour that, where we did like. A mini tour, like we did shows in LA and New York and London.

• 33:00Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, promo trip.

• 33:01Speaker 02

Yeah, like, um, just like, kind of mini residencies in, in this, in those cities and it was really sweet to be able to like, play the record live as soon as it came out.

• 33:13Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 33:13Speaker 02

But we also haven't done, like, the actual tour isn't until the fall. So we're in this like, funny limbo right now, like, like, I think you don't feel completely settled in an album's release until you're on the headline tour for it.

• 33:28Drew Afualo?

  Totally.

• 33:29Speaker 02

And, um, yeah, so now it's like, we're just gonna have like, I guess, a hot girl summer.

• 33:36Drew Afualo?

  Hell, yeah.

• 33:37Speaker 02

And then we'll, and then we'll be back.

• 33:39Drew Afualo?

You'll get back in the saddle.

• 33:40Speaker 02

  And we're so excited.

• 33:41Drew Afualo?

You guys are clocking back in.

• 33:43Speaker 02

  We're clocking in.

• 33:44Drew Afualo?

  In the fall.

• 33:44Speaker 02

And we love, obviously, like, I love being in the studio, but I think that we do shine as a live band.

• 33:52Drew Afualo?

I can vouch for that 1,000%. I have watched them live. What a fucking key bitch.

• 33:58Speaker 02

I remember seeing you at the Greek and I was like, Drew's here.

• 34:02Drew Afualo?

Hell, fucking yeah, I was there and I bought a section. Bring me and my lesbians.

• 34:06Speaker 02

  Hell, yeah.

• 34:07Drew Afualo?

  Do they sell sections there?

• 34:07Speaker 02

  No.

• 34:08Drew Afualo?

I was standing in the back, I said, well, this won't do.

• 34:10Speaker 02

  That's iconic.

• 34:11Drew Afualo?

And then we were like, let's, and then a girl walked up to me and was like, oh, we have some sections. I was like, yeah, I'm gonna pay for that. And it was just the four of us.

• 34:17Speaker 02

Oh, my god, that is so iconic.

• 34:20Speaker 05

  That's iconic.

• 34:21Drew Afualo?

  I had to see.

• 34:21Speaker 02

That's probably why I saw you.

• 34:22Drew Afualo?

Yeah, that is, my big ass was right in the middle. I was standing right in the center.

• 34:26Speaker 02

  That's so funny.

• 34:27Drew Afualo?

Well, I know, I know too, that you, you had mentioned that y'all are in very different places in your lives now, obviously. Older now, more established, been doing this for a while, like, how did that kind of shift in your lives affect the way you guys made this album? Was it different? Did it feel different? Or was it kind of the same, just a little bit more convicted?

• 34:44Speaker 05

I feel like we're just more sure of ourselves.

• 34:46Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 34:47Speaker 05

As musicians, and I, I don't know if we've ever put out a record where we felt like we did the best that we could. Like, and you know, you always, like, you know, try to get to that place, but I don't know. The thing is, I do think if we were given more time, we would have worked until, you know, whatever that deadline's, like, last moment was. But I do feel like... We did the absolute best that we could making this record. Like, I don't know how we could have done something differently and gotten like a different result. That we would be, you know.

• 35:20Speaker 02

But I think, I mean, I think that, I do think you doing like songwriting stuff. Like when I was doing my solo record, Joe was, started doing more writing sessions and stuff. And I feel like that did affect like the dynamic in the studio.

• 35:35Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 35:36Speaker 02

  Like it was like more.

• 35:37Speaker 05

  Collaborative.

• 35:38Speaker 02

  Collaborative.

• 35:38Speaker 05

Yeah. But I think. Beautiful. Which I, which I think it just comes from like, I, I mean, yeah, maybe it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't have like done more stuff like that, but I do feel like it's just more self-assuredness, you know? That allowed us to collaborate more and hopefully like make some of our best pop songs.

• 35:55Speaker 02

Hell, yeah. Yeah, and just like being better at communicating because we're older. And like knowing, and we've had more, like I think also like relationship, like being in relationships outside of the band then affects your relationship in the band. Because you like are learning about yourself and how to.

• 36:11Speaker 05

  Totally.

• 36:12Speaker 02

Ask for things that you need and stuff like that.

• 36:13Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 36:14Speaker 02

But it's like, yeah, it's kind of.

• 36:19Speaker 07

• 37:20Speaker 02

Like the closest thing that I have in my life to like a marriage. Where it's like, you know, we, we, there's so much commitment.

• 37:29Drew Afualo?

You guys are in a common law marriage.

• 37:31Speaker 02

  We are.

• 37:31Drew Afualo?

  Been together for 10 years.

• 37:32Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 37:33Drew Afualo?

Didn't involve the government, but we have been living together for 10 years. And we would never. We would fucking never.

• 37:38Speaker 02

We would never, but we've involved the bank.

• 37:40Drew Afualo?

Yeah, obviously. We share accounts, just kidding. Yeah, we got it, we got it, LLCs upon us. Hell yeah, need it.

• 37:47Speaker 02

  Are you married yet?

• 37:49Drew Afualo?

Not yet, I'm getting married this summer though.

• 37:50Speaker 02

  Holy cow.

• 37:51Drew Afualo?

  Where? In Hoi.

• 37:53Speaker 02

I was gonna ask what you're doing this summer.

• 37:55Drew Afualo?

Where, where in Hoi? On Oahu. Cool. Yeah. My mom grew up there. Oh, period, where? Yeah, yeah. What city? In Kailua. Oh, no way, I have family in Kailua too. Period, look at us. We might have cousins somehow. Yes, oh my god, don't let me find out. We'll talk after. I'll start making a public record, I'll start telling people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we're getting married there, it's very spiritual to us, I feel like. Yeah, amazing. We feel most ourselves there. That's awesome. And I'd love, if you guys want to come, I'd love for you to come, but you will have to perform if you come, so. Just keep that in mind. Yeah, we have to get to Oahu. I'm gonna have y'all working if you come, just kidding.

• 38:31Speaker 02

We've done weddings, I like weddings.

• 38:33Drew Afualo?

I even made a joke, because I've invited quite a few of my friends, um, too, that are like performers, I'm like, imagine, I'm just like, okay, karaoke, who wants to perform? But you have to perform your own song, who's into it? Just so everyone gets, they get their own Coachella at my wedding.

• 38:48Speaker 02

  Totally.

• 38:48Drew Afualo?

  But it's all gay people.

• 38:50Speaker 02

That's why you need, you know what I mean?

• 38:51Drew Afualo?

That's how you use your power. That's what I'm saying.

• 38:53Speaker 02

That's how you use your power, yeah.

• 38:54Drew Afualo?

Well, we'll talk after. Are you honeymooning? Yes, I am.

• 38:57Speaker 02

  What are you doing?

• 38:58Drew Afualo?

I'm actually, I'm going to Lanai, which is another island.

• 39:01Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 39:01Drew Afualo?

  Another Hawaiian island.

• 39:02Speaker 02

  Stunning.

• 39:03Drew Afualo?

Very cool. I'm very excited, it's gonna be awesome. I can feel the cool air in my hair. On your scalp. You might feel the humid air. Alright, I'll count that as RSVPs, one, two, and three, there you go.

• 39:15Speaker 02

I'm feeling, I'm feeling the waves bringing in the breeze.

• 39:18Drew Afualo?

That's what I'm, I'm telling you, when I get there, I feel like I reset a little bit.

• 39:22Speaker 02

  Oh my god, totally.

• 39:23Drew Afualo?

My evil gets tampered down just a little bit. Only the mainland makes me evil like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 39:28Speaker 02

Are you, are you a chiller or are you, I mean, I'd imagine that like building something like this, it's like, do you think about work all the time?

• 39:38Drew Afualo?

Um, yes, but I think a lot of that's just because I'm a Virgo. And I, I do love, I love to work.

• 39:44Speaker 05

Virgo, what, what's your rising and?

• 39:47Drew Afualo?

Oh, my, my son, I'm Virgo's son, Cancer Moon, Sagittarius Rising.

• 39:51Speaker 05

Oh, we're all, we're very compatible.

• 39:52Drew Afualo?

  Oh, look at us.

• 39:54Speaker 02

  I love Virgos.

• 39:55Drew Afualo?

Tell your partner, tell your girlfriend, tell your fiance.

• 39:58Speaker 05

  She's, she's Cancer's son, so.

• 40:00Drew Afualo?

  Oh, look at that.

• 40:01Speaker 04

  Mine too, we got sensies.

• 40:02Drew Afualo?

What are your, what are y'all's big, big three?

• 40:04Speaker 04

  We're Caps.

• 40:05Drew Afualo?

  Okay.

• 40:06Speaker 04

  Pisces.

• 40:06Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 40:07Speaker 04

But I'm, I'm Cap, Taurus Rising, which is also.

• 40:10Speaker 05

  I'm Taurus Rising.

• 40:11Drew Afualo?

Oh, I love Taurus, I get along with Taurus very well.

• 40:14Speaker 02

  My partner's a Taurus.

• 40:15Speaker 04

I love Taurus's, um, and then I'm a Gemini Moon.

• 40:18Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 40:18Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, varies.

• 40:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 40:19Drew Afualo?

Yeah, super, and I'm an Earth sign.

• 40:21Speaker 02

And then you're a Gemini Moon?

• 40:23Speaker 05

  I'm a Gemini Rising.

• 40:24Speaker 02

Our, our signs are all kind of like, um, like mixed together.

• 40:29Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 40:30Speaker 02

Because I'm Gemini Rising, but Joe's a Pisces Sun, I'm a Pisces Moon.

• 40:34Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 40:34Speaker 02

And then we're both Cap Suns.

• 40:35Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 40:36Speaker 05

And then I'm Taurus Rising and Virgo Moon.

• 40:38Speaker 02

  It's like really like entangled.

• 40:40Drew Afualo?

I've joked a lot about Capricorns because I've been like, Capricorns to me don't, they should be taking the flak that like Geminis and Scorpios get.

• 40:49Speaker 04

  Tea.

• 40:49Drew Afualo?

Only because I'm like Capricorns are so, because like my cousin Adam, who's my hair and makeup artist, he's a Capricorn. And my sister's a Capricorn Moon, I believe, but I feel like Capricorns are really good at getting people to love them.

• 41:01Speaker 04

We're just better at convincing people that we're right.

• 41:03Drew Afualo?

Exactly, that too, I'm saying you're very, very personal, very likeable.

• 41:07Speaker 02

Well, you think Geminis are like that too?

• 41:09Drew Afualo?

No, I, what I think they should be getting shit for is that Capricorns, when they're like basically over you, whatever capacity that is, they could just pretend they never met you and that you're dead. Which I believe to be a supervillain trait. And I think this, no one did anything to me.

• 41:25Drew Afualo?

Yeah, the Capricorns are hard asses and, and my sister's a Capricorn Moon, which is so funny because I've joked about my sister for years that like if I'm talking to her, actively speaking to her, I can watch the light leave her eyes.

• 41:37Speaker 02

Oh my god, name is just to me.

• 41:38Drew Afualo?

If, if she's over it, I watch her.

• 41:42Drew Afualo?

And like, I'm like, okay, no worries, hey, over here, over here.

• 41:46Speaker 04

I do that, I do that to you?

• 41:49Drew Afualo?

No, you do that, hey girl. You do that too.

• 41:52Speaker 04

  No shade.

• 41:53Drew Afualo?

You do that more than anybody.

• 41:54Speaker 04

In the New Yorker piece that we did, you can see Katie is somewhere so different.

• 41:59Speaker 02

  No, Katie, Katie, okay, wait.

• 42:01Speaker 04

  It's so fun.

• 42:01Speaker 02

  Glazed over.

• 42:02Speaker 05

I'm gonna roast Katie right now. Can you ask me for advice on a topic that she really doesn't want advice on?

• 42:08Speaker 02

  And then I'm telling.

• 42:09Speaker 05

  You're going too granular.

• 42:10Speaker 02

  I'm telling her.

• 42:11Speaker 05

I'm like, I'm doing like a five second overview.

• 42:14Speaker 02

And then I'm seeing in your eyes.

• 42:16Speaker 04

You're giving her like math advice. That's what she doesn't want. She wants experience advice.

• 42:21Drew Afualo?

And she's like, and I'm not listening. I'm not.

• 42:24Speaker 02

  No.

• 42:25Drew Afualo?

Even my sister, like for a long ass time, my sister like would do this thing where if we were on the phone, if she wanted to get off the phone, she would be like, well, I gotta poop. And she said it every time. And then finally, one time I go, no, you don't.

• 42:38Speaker 02

  No, you don't.

• 42:39Drew Afualo?

And then we started laughing and she goes, I'm just, I'm done.

• 42:42Speaker 02

  Yeah, totally.

• 42:42Drew Afualo?

  I'm done talking.

• 42:43Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 42:44Drew Afualo?

I was just gonna say that bitch.

• 42:46Speaker 02

Yeah, if you were white, you would say, you would say, okay, I'm gonna let you go.

• 42:51Drew Afualo?

All right, well, I'll let you head out. I know you got things to do, I'm sure.

• 42:55Speaker 04

  Or, yeah.

• 42:56Speaker 05

  That's very Midwestern, that probably.

• 42:58Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 42:59Drew Afualo?

Yeah, it's like, well, and that's why I think I understand y'all, Capricorns especially.

• 43:04Speaker 02

This is crazy though, this thing about like us moving on like that. I haven't ever thought about that before, but I think it is true.

• 43:12Drew Afualo?

  It's very true.

• 43:13Speaker 04

I think the truth is like when a, oh god, when a Capricorn.

• 43:16Speaker 02

  Oh god.

• 43:17Speaker 04

Get, I think when a Capricorn gets the ick.

• 43:20Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 43:20Speaker 04

It like, it just will never.

• 43:22Drew Afualo?

And it could be anything. That's the thing. It's like, it could be so, so small or huge. Either way, you're dead to them and they're over it.

• 43:30Speaker 02

Cause we're like right about it.

• 43:32Drew Afualo?

Right, so that's, that's where I run into it. Because I'm a Virgo, so by nature, I'm a nodal. So that's where I have my beef.

• 43:39Speaker 04

I also am not. Capture like the ultimate nodal.

• 43:42Drew Afualo?

  That's what I'm saying.

• 43:42Speaker 02

I am friends with some exes. I just have, it's not like.

• 43:46Speaker 05

Well, you're sitting on a couch with one.

• 43:47Speaker 02

Yeah, I'm like best friend with some exes.

• 43:49Drew Afualo?

  Well, you're both Capricorns.

• 43:50Speaker 04

  We were like, yeah.

• 43:51Drew Afualo?

  So there you go.

• 43:52Speaker 05

Well, you guys, like to be in alliance, yeah.

• 43:56Speaker 02

But it's either like, yeah, I'm still really close with you and I love you, or like, yeah.

• 44:00Drew Afualo?

It's real black and white in that. I respect it, I just find it to be, it could be used for good or evil.

• 44:05Speaker 05

Yeah, I'm like some exes, I'm like, who's the other ex?

• 44:09Speaker 02

  Some? Think about it.

• 44:10Drew Afualo?

The one you're in a common mom.

• 44:11Speaker 05

  Yeah, I literally don't, I don't know if I agree with you.

• 44:14Speaker 04

To the exes that were thinking about it.

• 44:16Drew Afualo?

Let's get the exes on the pod.

• 44:17Speaker 04

  Maybe it's like happening.

• 44:18Speaker 02

  No way, dude.

• 44:19Speaker 04

  And I'm saying.

• 44:20Speaker 02

I don't even have that many.

• 44:21Speaker 05

Yeah, but you were just, I don't think what you said was true.

• 44:26Drew Afualo?

I think you just like actively lied.

• 44:28Speaker 04

  Katie's extraordinarily nice and forgiving.

• 44:31Speaker 02

Dude, I want to beat up the shit out of some of Katie's exes.

• 44:34Speaker 05

Wait, you want to hear something?

• 44:35Drew Afualo?

I want to beat the shit out of my sister's exes too.

• 44:37Speaker 02

I got spammed by one of my exes yesterday.

• 44:41Speaker 04

  A phishing attempt via email.

• 44:43Drew Afualo?

  A phishing attempt?

• 44:44Speaker 04

  Yeah, phishing attempt.

• 44:45Drew Afualo?

Because my sister has also had that.

• 44:47Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 44:48Drew Afualo?

  Lesbians are crazy.

• 44:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 44:50Speaker 04

  Like, come on, yeah.

• 44:51Speaker 05

Like, was it a phishing attempt?

• 44:52Speaker 02

I don't think they did it on purpose.

• 44:53Speaker 05

  Like, for social, like, reconnection?

• 44:54Speaker 02

No, it was like, it was like.

• 44:55Speaker 05

Why no yours was, yours was like.

• 44:57Drew Afualo?

No, yeah, hers was to get in contact with her again.

• 44:59Speaker 02

  See, that's what I don't, I think, I think.

• 45:01Speaker 04

  This was a phishing hack.

• 45:03Drew Afualo?

Oh, this was like a spam, oh.

• 45:05Speaker 04

  The person was hacked.

• 45:05Drew Afualo?

  Oh, no, this was intentional.

• 45:07Speaker 05

What if this, what if, what if they were hacked?

• 45:09Speaker 02

Was trying to give you a virus?

• 45:11Speaker 04

  No.

• 45:12Drew Afualo?

Spam calls, yeah, like, put, put her on like a call bank thing, so like, she'll get like.

• 45:16Speaker 02

  She'll find you up.

• 45:17Drew Afualo?

Yeah, she'll get like a thousand a day. I know, I know, they can't keep getting away with it.

• 45:22Speaker 05

And I gotta be honest, my number has been sold.

• 45:24Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 45:25Speaker 05

  My number has been sold.

• 45:27Speaker 02

This is a, this is a Josette is a, this is a phrase that Josette will say throughout the day.

• 45:32Drew Afualo?

My number has been sold. My number has been sold and no one's listening to me.

• 45:37Speaker 04

I've been having fun talking to some of the texters who are like, how, how about we meet up for dinner tonight?

• 45:44Speaker 04

I love that shit, I will, I'll go back and forth a little bit with them, but I'll usually do like.

• 45:48Speaker 02

  I don't talk, I don't get those.

• 45:49Speaker 04

I will do like a tran, I'll like translate something into a different language.

• 45:52Speaker 05

This makes me think about Gio.

• 45:54Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 45:54Speaker 05

You see, well, Gio, our, our basis has gotten texted by like numbers that are sending like photos of hot girls being like, want to meet up?

• 46:02Drew Afualo?

What kind of list is that?

• 46:04Speaker 02

  It's crazy.

• 46:05Drew Afualo?

  It's a gooner list.

• 46:06Speaker 05

And he like, he'll text them.

• 46:07Drew Afualo?

Your basis is on a gooner list.

• 46:08Speaker 05

Yeah, he'll text them like days in the most funny ways.

• 46:14Speaker 02

  Wait.

• 46:15Speaker 04

  We're starting a subscription service.

• 46:17Speaker 02

  Right. The subscription.

• 46:18Speaker 04

  Guys, guys.

• 46:20Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 46:21Drew Afualo?

Oh, my gosh, that's a great idea.

• 46:22Speaker 02

Do you know what a gooner is? No, what is it?

• 46:24Speaker 04

  Keep it that way.

• 46:25Drew Afualo?

Like a big perv, honestly. That jacks off a lot. That's like gooner kind of energy.

• 46:29Speaker 04

People who like jack off, they're like edging in a community with other men.

• 46:34Drew Afualo?

  Yes, exactly.

• 46:35Speaker 02

  Like what, like circle jerking?

• 46:36Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, like a circle jerk.

• 46:38Speaker 04

They're having homoerotic connections. They're sending each other porn so they can jack off all day.

• 46:43Drew Afualo?

And they talk about it like it's normal. They talk about it like, oh, I got a clock back in.

• 46:47Speaker 04

Talking about it with other guys.

• 46:48Speaker 02

  Where is this happening?

• 46:49Speaker 04

  Which is so gay.

• 46:50Drew Afualo?

Far away from us, thank God.

• 46:51Speaker 02

  Is it like on Reddit?

• 46:52Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, I'm sure.

• 46:53Speaker 04

  All over the.

• 46:54Drew Afualo?

  Or on Twitch, probably.

• 46:55Speaker 02

Everything that's happening. Is it on Reddit? Is that where it's?

• 46:58Drew Afualo?

I don't know. Thankfully, we live in a very protective gay bubble, thank God.

• 47:01Speaker 02

  I really, I really.

• 47:02Drew Afualo?

Doesn't permeate our airspace, but like.

• 47:04Speaker 02

I barely know how to use a computer.

• 47:05Drew Afualo?

It honestly only gets in my airspace because of what I do. Like me fucking up men, it works its way to me, unfortunately.

• 47:11Speaker 04

  Yeah, I'm sure.

• 47:12Drew Afualo?

Like, I don't, have y'all seen the Manosphere documentary on Netflix?

• 47:15Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 47:15Drew Afualo?

  Did you watch it?

• 47:16Speaker 02

  I, I have not.

• 47:17Speaker 04

  I haven't seen it.

• 47:17Speaker 02

  I have not because.

• 47:19Drew Afualo?

  I loved it too.

• 47:20Speaker 04

  He's, he's the goat.

• 47:21Drew Afualo?

Yeah, it's honestly so interesting to watch, but he basically goes into like red pill communities, but he talks with like red pill men. And it's so funny because in that documentary, there's about three out of the four guys he focuses on are like my ops. Like they've actively talked shit on me. I've talked shit on them.

• 47:37Speaker 02

  Oh, my God.

• 47:37Drew Afualo?

And they don't talk about me in this movie at all, but I remember watching it. I was like, I have fucked up three out of the four of those guys.

• 47:43Speaker 02

So why, why is he focusing on these people? Like to see like, why do you act the way you do?

• 47:48Drew Afualo?

He does these immersive documentaries where he goes and spends time with people.

• 47:52Speaker 04

He did that series, The Settlers, about the like West Bank Israeli.

• 47:56Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 47:58Speaker 04

Um, and it's also, that's also amazing.

• 48:00Speaker 02

Going to say, what's wrong with you?

• 48:01Drew Afualo?

Yeah, essentially. He goes and he investigates and essentially just asks him questions.

• 48:06Speaker 02

Is there, what did he find? What did he discover about your ops?

• 48:09Speaker 04

He discovered that they all were, were like mama's boys who were like.

• 48:15Speaker 02

  They have like emotional.

• 48:16Speaker 04

  Deeply insecure.

• 48:17Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and, and he like even asked them, like, do you really believe this stuff? Or do you just say it? And a lot of them. Don't like which I've said to which I'm like I don't know what's worse like being actually that fucking stupid or doing it for money.

• 48:34Speaker 04

A lot of them are also it's like this is a sad thing but it's like a lot of them are young men who grew up. You know in maybe like working class environments or whatever who had a single mom and an absent father.

• 48:50Speaker 05

How can you be mean to women?

• 48:52Drew Afualo?

That's the greatest irony to me of all. But a lot of them come from single moms, which is very interesting.

• 48:58Speaker 04

It's like they're trying to like they're they don't have like yeah it's.

• 49:05Speaker 05

This is. The gender binary man.

• 49:09Drew Afualo?

Yeah, don't get don't even get into that. Even like every time I I even broach that topic even a little cuz they're I really hate to when people say things like. Oh, well, I just wanna like take you out of your masculine energy. And and put you more in your feminine energy like that's literally just cloak and dagger misogyny like that's what the fuck it is. And I was like and then when if I tell you masculine feminine don't even fucking exist and that was man made then what? Then we're back at zero and then they're like, well, now you're saying boys and girls are not real. Well, they aren't like socially speaking, they literally aren't. But that's why sometimes with people who hate me, I'm like, you're not smart enough to have this conversation.

• 49:46Speaker 05

I think that's just tea and that's the thing that's really sad and scary.

• 49:48Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I'm like, you're not smart enough to have this conversation with me, so you just catch these fucking jokes. And that's why sometimes they're like, why don't you have like a more in-depth conversation? Because they would have to understand gender is a social construct and they can't even get there. So there's really no point, there's nowhere else we can go.

• 50:05Speaker 04

  Women are.

• 50:08Drew Afualo?

Right, that too, we need that too, we need that.

• 50:11Speaker 04

It's also like y'all are all we wanna do hang out with all these guys all day being shirtless.

• 50:20Speaker 04

  Y'all are weird.

• 50:22Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, watch the man.

• 50:23Speaker 04

Well, actually, more importantly, go see Moon on tour. Extreme dancing off the wall, obviously, but I really I would love to know um just to kind of wrap us if you could tell us. What you really hope people take away from this album?

• 50:35Speaker 02

  Oh god.

• 50:36Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 50:37Speaker 04

I mean, I hope it feels like reflective of people's life experiences in certain ways. See themselves in the, in the stories that we're telling on the record. I hope they like the music and come to the shows. Tickets on sale now, where'smoo.com. Or maybe not, because it might be sold out near you, so act quickly. And yeah, I hope we're able to provide like a, a space where people feel safe and like they can, you know, release whatever they might need to release. Or that they can come and make friends. I was hearing from some people the other night, that people at the Shrine Show, like the further back you got, people were creating with different communities.

• 51:17Drew Afualo?

Oh yeah, they were there, yeah, my sister and Carrie went as well to your Shrine Show.

• 51:21Speaker 04

Well, like, there was a group of people who got really invested in like, this couple that they were seeing. And they were like, when do you think they met?

• 51:30Speaker 02

Oh, interesting, like they were just making friends with each other.

• 51:32Speaker 04

They were making friends about, but like about what was going on in a kind of nice way. Yeah, in a people watching way. And then people like dancing with each other because they can't see the stage, so.

• 51:42Drew Afualo?

Yeah, so cute. Just what happens when you have a packed house.

• 51:47Speaker 02

I feel like there's something that is revealing itself, the, the longer that this album is out.

• 51:54Speaker 02

That's revealing itself to me like about,

• 51:58Speaker 02

just desire. And I think that a lot of people that are, like on the left, struggle right now with like, how do I, like, ever feel good?

• 52:18Drew Afualo?

Like how, how do I experience joy?

• 52:20Speaker 02

Yeah, and like, and also like, how do I not like feel guilty about that? Yeah, and I think that like, um, yeah, there is like something in this album that, like wrestles with that and I hope that,

• 52:35Speaker 02

like, people feel in touch with, like, yeah, their desire and their kind of like life drive. Like, because we have to be, um, trying to nourish that wherever we can. Like if you want to be a part of. Like, because we are alive right now, so it's like.

• 52:53Drew Afualo?

Right, and especially to that same point, we have a mutual friend in Caleb. I've had this conversation with Caleb many times about like. How, as tumultuous and awful as the world can be, a lot of times it forces me to be more present. And experience and like really enjoy art and experience it for real because it's almost like, who knows if we're gonna get to keep doing it? And so it's almost, it makes it, it's ironic that it makes you wanna be more present even more so and feel things for real and feel things honestly and openly and earnestly. And I think that's what y'all have done for years. I think y'all have created and cultivated a space in which people can feel all of those things at once, including survivor's guilt.

• 53:33Drew Afualo?

Right, of like wanting to enjoy, wanting to be in love, wanting to celebrate in the middle of awfulness. So I, I genuinely believe y'all are one of the greatest like bands to ever exist. And, uh, listen, I don't give a fuck what people think about this, I think you're better than the Beatles. That is my take. I don't fucking care what people say, that is my take.

• 53:54Speaker 04

Well, the Beatles didn't write, uh, Big Sticks, so.

• 53:57Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I'll tell you what, like.

• 54:00Speaker 02

Wait, but did you guys see?

• 54:01Speaker 05

This is the only poll thing.

• 54:03Speaker 02

I was, I was talking about this, I was talking about the Paul McCartney interview for Chicken Shop Date, like before you walked in. Did you know that Paul McCartney wrote yesterday in his dreams?

• 54:14Drew Afualo?

No, I did not, but it makes sense.

• 54:16Speaker 02

  The man was asleep.

• 54:17Speaker 04

  That's so fucked up.

• 54:18Speaker 02

When he wrote that song, he was asleep.

• 54:20Drew Afualo?

  He was passed out.

• 54:21Speaker 02

So I'm like, I heard that and I was like, okay, like that is legendary.

• 54:24Drew Afualo?

It's kinda like the Michael Jackson joke where he says like, if I don't act on an idea, God will give it to Prince. God will give it to Prince. That's y'all to Chapel Rowan. You're like, if I don't do it now, it's gonna be given to Chapel.

• 54:36Speaker 04

You can, bless her have it.

• 54:38Drew Afualo?

Yeah, she can have whatever she wants. No, I wanna keep it, no.

• 54:42Speaker 02

She'll be fine, she'll find something else.

• 54:44Drew Afualo?

And I'll tell you what, like, I really think that y'all could've done Yellow Submarine, I don't think they could've done Silk Shifon. I don't think so, I don't think that's to be true.

• 54:51Speaker 04

They might not have the vocal range.

• 54:52Drew Afualo?

  That's what I'm saying. But I, I really.

• 54:55Speaker 02

I think we would've probably gotten made fun of for Yellow Submarine.

• 54:57Speaker 05

We're, we're gonna get on a whole side of like Twitter where people are like angry about the Beatles and now us.

• 55:02Drew Afualo?

They, I've, I've made this public many times. When Nat and Alex Wolf were on here, they, they wanted to.

• 55:07Speaker 04

Fucking, fucking with the Beatles heavy, I'm sorry, I'm gonna. Generalize, it's just my experience. In my experience is white people.

• 55:14Drew Afualo?

  That's what I said. That's exactly what I said.

• 55:20Speaker 04

If you talk to anyone in my family, and my, my mom's white, but she, she was a, she was an upright bass player. They would all be like, of course, earth, wind and fire. It's fucking better than the Beatles. Are you insane?

• 55:32Drew Afualo?

And they asked me, they were like, who, well then who's one of the greatest acts to you? And then I, well, and I said Prince. And then they were like, okay, that, yeah, that's actually a good one. Yeah, fuck out of here. They thought I was gonna say some bullshit. Fuck out of here.

• 55:47Speaker 05

Unfortunately, I totally agree with you.

• 55:49Speaker 04

  I like Wings. I'm a Wings pur- I like Paul McCartney's Wings.

• 55:53Speaker 05

I like George Harrison solo more than I like the Beatles stuff.

• 55:56Drew Afualo?

I like Ringo, cuz nobody likes Ringo.

• 55:58Speaker 05

  Hell yeah.

• 55:59Drew Afualo?

So that's why I like him. Why not? Fuck it. I'm an underdog lover. You know what I mean? But I think, I think y'all are just-

• 56:06Speaker 04

This is gonna drop the day the Beatles movie comes out?

• 56:09Drew Afualo?

I know, like Paul McCartney's gonna die the day this drops and everyone's gonna call me an asshole. Anyways.

• 56:14Speaker 04

  Shout out to Wings.

• 56:15Drew Afualo?

Shout, no, shout out to Wings though, shout out. I do wanna say though, like on some real shit, I really do think y'all are one of the best acts out there and have been for a while. And the fact that y'all are continuing to do it and prioritize like your fanbase and how you guys feel and what you wanna make is I find extremely inspiring and I think y'all are incredible.

• 56:35Speaker 05

We're gonna be selfish to the day we die. Please do. Thank god.

• 56:39Speaker 04

We prioritize our, our art over bankroll.

• 56:44Speaker 05

If you wanna support us, come to the show. Buy some merch.

• 56:47Speaker 04

• 56:59Speaker 04

No, we need to go to like-

• 57:00Speaker 05

We need to go to the beach.

• 57:01Drew Afualo?

Yes, you need to sing at my wedding. Okay, contract pending. I'm assuming for free, contract pending. Perfect, love that. I, I love y'all. I think y'all are incredible. Make sure y'all check out Moonu's latest album, obviously, and make sure y'all go check him out on tour. And for the two straight people that maybe are unfamiliar, where can everybody find you?

• 57:19Speaker 04

  Or talk to a lesbian.

• 57:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 57:50Drew Afualo?

Every lesbian in the history of time, like, Muna is the Mount Rushmore. That is, it's just Muna.

• 57:56Speaker 02

• 58:34Speaker 02

  That's so cute.

• 58:35Drew Afualo?

  Y'all want to come?

• 58:36Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 58:36Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 58:36Drew Afualo?

Okay, well, it's on camera now, so you can't back out. That includes you, Joe. Can't back out. You didn't go to Lucy's, you're not coming to mine.

• 58:44Speaker 02

  Right, right, right.

• 58:46Speaker 02

You'd be scared to leave your dogs.

• 58:47Speaker 04

I think I would do better than like, if it was like more intimate, like,

• 58:50Drew Afualo?

  That's true.

• 58:51Speaker 04

You go to a party, there's a lot of people.

• 58:52Drew Afualo?

That's true, there was a lot of people there.

• 58:53Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 58:54Drew Afualo?

But I do have, and I have two dogs. I have two dogs.

• 58:56Speaker 04

  That's a selling point.

• 58:57Drew Afualo?

As well, so y'all, if that's a selling point for y'all, you'll saw it first. When we have a Muna sleepover and you're not invited, you'll see. But thank you guys for coming. Thank you, y'all are amazing. Thank you all so much and I'll see you next week, bye.
