About this episode
With colder weather approaching, Invictus Professional SnowFighters is encouraging Seattle residents to prepare early for safe and timely residential snow removal this winter. The company’s winter safety message highlights the importance of protecting seniors from slip-and-fall accidents, maintaining passable walkways, and meeting the city’s expectations for snow and ice clearing. According to national health data, adults over 65 experience significantly higher rates of fall-related injuries during winter months, with icy sidewalks and steps representing major risk factors. In Seattle, homeowners are expected to keep the public walking areas next to their properties reasonably safe by clearing snow and preventing ice buildup after storms. While the city does not prescribe a strict timeline, public advisories consistently encourage residents to act promptly—ideally before snow compacts into ice or conditions worsen overnight. “Protecting seniors and keeping walking areas safe is a responsibility everyone shares,” said Brad Caton, Founder and CEO of Invictus Professional SnowFighters. “When sidewalks and driveways freeze, accidents happen. Our goal is to help Seattle residents maintain safe access throughout winter conditions and stay ahead of hazardous refreeze.” To support homeowners, Invictus Professional SnowFighters has tailored its residential snow and ice removal services for Seattle’s unique climate and neighborhoods. These services include early-morning clearing after storms, application of safe de-icing products to minimize black-ice formation, and time-stamped service documentation to confirm timely action following snowfall. Founded in 1998, Invictus Professional SnowFighters applies ISO 9001-based quality systems, insured and trained crews, and dedicated residential equipment to every service visit. The company emphasizes structured, documented procedures intended to deliver consistent results across steep driveways, shaded sidewalks, and hilly residential streets where ice can form quickly. “Standards matter when it comes to winter safety, ” Caton added. “Our teams follow defined methods designed to clear sidewalks and driveways effectively, reduce black-ice risks, and support residents who want reliable help keeping their properties safe during freeze-thaw cycles.” Invictus also echoes the City of Seattle’s guidance with practical steps residents can take after a snowfall including - Clear sidewalks and walkways promptly to prevent compacted ice. - Apply safe de-icing material on steps, driveways, and paths to reduce slip hazards. - Keep snow on private property rather than pushing it into streets or blocking drainage. - Arrange assistance in advance if unable to shovel due to age, injury, or limited mobility. Local safety professionals note that documented efforts to maintain walkways can be valuable if an incident occurs. As winter weather becomes more unpredictable, proactive planning is increasingly viewed as a responsible part of home and community care.
