Hello, sticker Calippo in your ring. It's the Romesh Ranganathan Show, Thursday edition. What's up?

• 0:12Speaker 00

What do you think? Yeah, I mean, it's getting warmer, isn't it? Every Thursday, we chat about Monday's episode. I'll answer your questions and dilemmas alongside the incredible Shanthi Ranganathan. Mum, how are you today? So I'm shouting, I'm so sorry. Just so excited to be opposite you.

• 0:26Speaker 01

Are you telling me the truth?

• 0:27Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 0:28Speaker 01

  Okay, I'm fine, son.

• 0:29Speaker 00

  Trousers, shirt, nails.

• 0:34Speaker 00

  What's it called here?

• 0:35Speaker 01

  Eyebrow.

• 0:36Speaker 00

No, the eyelids. I know that's called eyebrow. What's the makeup you put on the lid?

• 0:40Speaker 01

  Eye makeup.

• 0:41Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 0:42Speaker 01

  No, mascara.

• 0:43Speaker 00

  Mascara?

• 0:44Speaker 01

It's not, this is mascara. I don't know.

• 0:47Speaker 00

You don't know what that's called? Lid paint. Anyway, it's all coordinated. You look great.

• 0:54Speaker 01

Thank you. Coming from you, it's difficult to get any, any.

• 0:57Speaker 00

  It's not true.

• 0:58Speaker 01

  Compliments.

• 0:58Speaker 00

  That's not true.

• 0:59Speaker 01

Yeah. Front of Lisa, you won't say it.

• 1:02Speaker 00

  Front of Lisa, what's that?

• 1:03Speaker 01

Mum, you look so beautiful. Will you say that?

• 1:06Speaker 00

I didn't say that now. I said, you look great. It's coordinated. Your lid paint matches your nails and your nice watch.

• 1:12Speaker 01

  You like it?

• 1:12Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 1:13Speaker 01

  You like the watch?

• 1:13Speaker 00

Yeah. How often are you getting your nails done?

• 1:17Speaker 01

When I get the gap here.

• 1:19Speaker 00

Yeah, then you start to get it done.

• 1:21Speaker 01

Because it irritates me. Beautiful man, I want you to dress like that.

• 1:26Speaker 00

  To dress like this?

• 1:27Speaker 01

  No, paint your nails.

• 1:28Speaker 00

  Yeah, okay.

• 1:29Speaker 01

  I put cross there.

• 1:31Speaker 00

  Yeah, I went to.

• 1:33Speaker 01

  Where? They are rip off.

• 1:38Speaker 00

Can we bleep the name, please?

• 1:41Speaker 00

Why are they a rip off? They're a small, independent business.

• 1:44Speaker 01

  Business, yeah.

• 1:45Speaker 00

Yeah, what's wrong? Why are they rip off?

• 1:47Speaker 01

They charge you so much money, man.

• 1:49Speaker 00

How much do you think this cost me to get all my nails done?

• 1:51Speaker 01

  Forty-five pounds?

• 1:52Speaker 02

So are they all done or just one?

• 1:54Speaker 00

Well, I got mats on these, but they are done. They're all dumb. I didn't go in and just get one dumb. They won't let you go in and just get one done on each hand. Ben, would you ever get your nails done?

• 2:06Speaker 02

I don't think I could pull that off.

• 2:08Speaker 01

No, you think you can, you can't, but you can.

• 2:11Speaker 00

  You can.

• 2:12Speaker 01

  You can.

• 2:13Speaker 00

  You can.

• 2:14Speaker 01

Michael Jackson, look at him. I watched that film.

• 2:16Speaker 00

Look at all the stuff Michael Jackson did.

• 2:17Speaker 01

  Michael Jackson did.

• 2:19Speaker 00

You could do all of that.

• 2:19Speaker 01

  How wonderful he looks.

• 2:20Speaker 00

You could do everything Michael Jackson did, Ben.

• 2:23Speaker 01

  Yeah, you can, you can.

• 2:24Speaker 02

  I do have a glove.

• 2:24Speaker 00

  If you want to.

• 2:26Speaker 01

You should think about Bruce Lee.

• 2:27Speaker 00

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 2:29Speaker 01

Because don't ever put yourself down. It stays in your body.

• 2:34Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 2:35Speaker 01

That's why it's called spelling, spelling, spelling.

• 2:40Speaker 00

  What the fuck?

• 2:45Speaker 01

The spell stays on your body.

• 2:47Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 2:48Speaker 01

So don't ever put yourself down. Think that I'm handsome. I'm good.

• 2:54Speaker 00

  And Bruce Lee.

• 2:54Speaker 01

  I can pull women.

• 2:55Speaker 02

  And Bruce Lee did that.

• 2:56Speaker 00

Why does Ben need to think I can pull women? He's married to children.

• 3:01Speaker 01

Pull women. I'm not asking you to fuck them.

• 3:04Speaker 00

Yeah. No, just pull them and then, and then say.

• 3:07Speaker 01

  And discard them.

• 3:09Speaker 00

Yeah, and then say, no, I'm married. Joke's on you, dumbass.

• 3:13Speaker 01

You get all the thrill. Oh my God, they're after me. I don't need you. I'm married.

• 3:18Speaker 00

I don't think that's, I don't think Ben should be leading women on and then going on, by the way, I'm married.

• 3:22Speaker 01

I'm not expecting him to leading women. No, that's the wrong thing to do.

• 3:26Speaker 00

  You.

• 3:27Speaker 01

  They should come to him.

• 3:28Speaker 02

It's actually out of order, Rob. Like, you shouldn't.

• 3:31Speaker 00

  No, you said.

• 3:32Speaker 02

I don't know why you said that, Rob.

• 3:33Speaker 00

No, it was weird. Mom, I'm repeating what, I'm basically paraphrasing what you said. You said he should, you know, I, I can pull women and then say, I'm married. I don't need you.

• 3:42Speaker 01

  Just in your head.

• 3:44Speaker 00

In your head, say I can pull women?

• 3:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 3:47Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 3:47Speaker 01

But it's for everybody. Don't ever put yourself down, even say, I can't do it. Oh, oh no, I'm not good looking. My hair is not nice. No. God created all of you beautifully. So enjoy every day.

• 4:04Speaker 00

  I don't, I agree with that to a point.

• 4:06Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:06Speaker 00

But people shouldn't believe they can do anything, should they?

• 4:09Speaker 01

  They can.

• 4:10Speaker 00

That is, that, no, no, no. That is, that is, that is a big, no.

• 4:14Speaker 01

  What that professor said.

• 4:15Speaker 00

  What professor?

• 4:16Speaker 01

Take a deep breath. You can do it.

• 4:19Speaker 00

Yeah, that's to open a jar.

• 4:20Speaker 01

  No.

• 4:24Speaker 00

  I I'm talking about this.

• 4:26Speaker 01

  It works with everything.

• 4:28Speaker 00

No, but I'm talking about this false narrative that if you if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything. Some stuff you just shouldn't do.

• 4:35Speaker 01

  For example.

• 4:35Speaker 00

Like if I if I grew up thinking I can be a Premier League footballer, I couldn't. There's no chance. I can't. So actually, it's better to go. This isn't gonna happen for you.

• 4:45Speaker 01

That from the young age, you find your path.

• 4:48Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 4:49Speaker 01

But so God has showed you what you are good at.

• 4:53Speaker 00

Okay, but you're saying you can do anything.

• 4:55Speaker 01

You're a footballer. You are right. You are right.

• 4:57Speaker 00

  Yes, okay. So we agree.

• 4:58Speaker 01

Because your body is not made for that. You can talk. You have a mouth. God has given you the mouth to say filth and make people laugh.

• 5:09Speaker 00

  What a gift.

• 5:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 5:13Speaker 00

  Mum, we had country.

• 5:15Speaker 02

So what where was Bruce Lee in all of this?

• 5:18Speaker 00

So actually, I do know what she's talking about. So Bruce Lee said, there's a clip that went viral of him uh saying that even if you talk negatively about yourself as a joke, your body doesn't, your body and mind don't know that you're joking. So actually, you start to.

• 5:34Speaker 01

  Do act.

• 5:35Speaker 00

To no, well, you start to form a negative impression of yourself. And for somebody that has built a career on doing stand up tours where I just talk about what a piece of shit I am, I've got to be honest with you, watching that, it felt worrying.

• 5:49Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 5:50Speaker 00

But as you know, I've got very high self esteem, so it hasn't affected me.

• 5:55Speaker 00

  Shout out to my therapist.

• 5:57Speaker 01

Are you going to the therapist? Why?

• 5:58Speaker 00

Um, well, I wouldn't put a name on it, but um he would describe it as mother issues. Mum, we had country pop legend Shania Twain on this week.

• 6:10Speaker 00

  So I would.

• 6:14Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:15Speaker 00

So I would I would love you to introduce the show like you're a country singer. I've got something to help you. There's a hat just there. Would you like to put it on?

• 6:24Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:24Speaker 00

Okay, I've got one as well.

• 6:26Speaker 01

  Like this?

• 6:27Speaker 00

Yeah. Cue the comments saying things like can't tell if they're the cowboys or the Indians or something like that. Uh mum, can you give me a?

• 6:36Speaker 00

There's an amazing, there's an amazing, uh, building firm in Crawley.

• 6:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:43Speaker 00

I think it's this, I think it might be, they're Asian anyway.

• 6:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:48Speaker 00

And the, on the van, it says, you've tried the cowboys, now try the Indians.

• 6:56Speaker 00

It's so good. Fucking great. Anyway, mum, what I want you to do is go like a cowgirl.

• 7:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:02Speaker 00

You go, yee-haw, welcome to the Romesh, Rangon, Nathan Show with me, Shanthi. Okay, like a cowgirl. So down that camera, please.

• 7:10Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 7:10Speaker 00

  Really give it, mum, big.

• 7:12Speaker 01

  Yee-haw.

• 7:13Speaker 00

  Yes.

• 7:14Speaker 01

Welcome to Romesh, Rangon, Nathan Show. It's me, Shanthi.

• 7:17Speaker 00

  Howdy, partners. Yeah.

• 7:32Speaker 01

  With me, Shanthi.

• 7:36Speaker 03

• 8:35Speaker 04

  Ugh, I hate Mondays.

• 8:37Speaker 05

  King's Hawaiian cinnamon swirl bite?

• 8:39Speaker 04

Uh, Taylor Hansen? Sure, I'll try one. Mmm.

• 8:44Speaker 06

Hey, let's get back to work, please.

• 8:46Speaker 04

But Taylor Hansen's making my day way better with these new soft and swirly King's Hawaiian cinnamon bites.

• 8:50Speaker 06

  Taylor Hansen? Nice.

• 8:52Speaker 05

  Try one.

• 8:54Speaker 06

  Mmm.

• 8:58Speaker 05

  King's Hawaiian cinnamon bites.

• 9:00Speaker 00

  There's nothing like it.

• 9:05Speaker 00

Are we keeping this on for the rest of the episode? Did you like to?

• 9:08Speaker 01

  Well, yee-hoo!

• 9:10Speaker 00

No, no. Would you like to keep the hats on for the rest of the episode?

• 9:15Speaker 01

  I love to.

• 9:16Speaker 00

Shall we keep the hats on, guys? Yee-haw!

• 9:21Speaker 01

Snaia, the song, I told Georgie.

• 9:25Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 9:25Speaker 01

  The song with the...

• 9:27Speaker 00

Georgie, who hasn't for some reason been allowed into the room this week.

• 9:29Speaker 02

She's, she's actually just in the doorway.

• 9:31Speaker 00

Why is Georgie in the doorway? What's go- This is wild.

• 9:36Speaker 01

So, you are a rude fucker, that's why.

• 9:38Speaker 00

No, why is she gonna, why, why does that, why does me being rude mean that Georgie has to be in the doorway?

• 9:45Speaker 01

You could have done something to bring her in.

• 9:47Speaker 00

Ben, first of all, I'm not responsible for the seating in here.

• 9:51Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 9:52Speaker 00

Ben, as Georgie's husband, how do you feel?

• 9:54Speaker 01

But you can subject something from me!

• 9:55Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 9:55Speaker 01

Yeah, I am messing around with the hat, leave it alone.

• 9:58Speaker 00

Ben, as Georgie's husband, how do you feel about this?

• 10:01Speaker 01

  Georgie, the low step?

• 10:02Speaker 00

She's, it's so bizarre. I can just see the corner of Georgie's face peering round. It's like she's been sent out of class. What's, why, why has this happened?

• 10:14Speaker 02

I think she's probably worried about being called an animal and an ugo.

• 10:19Speaker 00

  Right.

• 10:19Speaker 02

So she can distance herself a little bit while being on the press.

• 10:21Speaker 00

Normally we have Georgie, we have two air conditioning units.

• 10:24Speaker 02

  It's really hot.

• 10:27Speaker 00

So that's, that's the decision that's been made. Georgie, I'm so sorry about this.

• 10:32Speaker 01

  Sorry darling, you look lovely.

• 10:34Speaker 00

Sorry, Georgie. Uh, Mum, would you have liked to have been a cowgirl?

• 10:37Speaker 01

I love, I like the outfit and things, I do like that, yeah.

• 10:41Speaker 00

We used to watch quite a lot of spaghetti westerns, didn't we?

• 10:45Speaker 01

Yes, yeah. I love Clint Eastwood.

• 10:49Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 10:51Speaker 01

  The bit I like about...

• 10:52Speaker 00

  Fistful of dollars.

• 10:53Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:54Speaker 00

  Few dollars more.

• 10:54Speaker 01

And he takes the revenge. Somebody hit him so hard. I, I want to do it for someone else that take a revenge and knock him down. I love that. Gives me so much pleasure.

• 11:11Speaker 00

I think there's an argument that both of us should have therapy. Now, Mum, Shania really loved your question about fashion. She said her favourite thing to wear is silk.

• 11:22Speaker 01

I do love silk. When I went to Thailand, I wore loads of silk blouses.

• 11:29Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 11:29Speaker 01

Because I fell in love with cheaper.

• 11:31Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 11:32Speaker 01

I fell in love with ordinary.

• 11:33Speaker 00

You still wear quite a bit of silk, don't you?

• 11:34Speaker 01

I do, I do. I love silk. Silk saris.

• 11:38Speaker 00

Yeah. Uh, she suggested that I should try wearing silk.

• 11:41Speaker 01

  I need a tissue.

• 11:42Speaker 00

You need a tissue. Can Mum have a tissue, please?

• 11:44Speaker 01

Because my eye is running. Thank you, Ben. So sorry, yeah. So sorry.

• 11:49Speaker 00

That's okay, Mum. Do you want to take a, shall we take a break while you?

• 11:52Speaker 01

  Oh, shut up, Romesh.

• 11:53Speaker 00

  No, I'm being, uh, what?

• 11:56Speaker 01

Sometimes the way you talk to me, I don't know whether you're joking or you're serious.

• 12:01Speaker 00

Sorry, what did I do there?

• 12:03Speaker 01

He just mentioned, uh, Ben, that you went to see Michael Jackson. Why wasn't I invited?

• 12:08Speaker 00

Oh, okay. Let's get into this.

• 12:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:10Speaker 00

  Right.

• 12:11Speaker 01

But will you come? No, you won't. You will give, oh, I have to take Charlie. Oh, Lisa organised something. I had to go. I, these are the answers I am, I'm getting.

• 12:21Speaker 00

Okay, let's, shall we throw it over to the animals? Georgie, you're not an animal.

• 12:25Speaker 01

  No.

• 12:26Speaker 00

Right. Let's throw it open to the animals and see what they think.

• 12:28Speaker 01

So be a animal as well.

• 12:30Speaker 00

  Pardon?

• 12:30Speaker 01

I'm a pig, but you are horse? Mm hmm.

• 12:36Speaker 05

No, I think we're the animals.

• 12:37Speaker 00

  Yeah, they're the animals.

• 12:38Speaker 01

  I understood. So be, so.

• 12:40Speaker 00

By the way, aren't they dressed beautifully?

• 12:42Speaker 01

Beautifully. I was going to say, it looks so.

• 12:44Speaker 00

Did you speak to each other?

• 12:45Speaker 01

Did you get your sunglasses? Otherwise I'll get you one.

• 12:47Speaker 05

  I haven't got any yet. No, I didn't.

• 12:49Speaker 01

  The one.

• 12:50Speaker 05

They're aviators. Yeah. That's what we spoke about last time, last week.

• 12:53Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:53Speaker 00

The problem is, it is a good bit for John to get some aviators. And I, I would love to get some, but we're never going to show John on camera, so.

• 13:01Speaker 01

Doesn't matter. He can wear it when he go out.

• 13:05Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 13:05Speaker 01

Doesn't have to be in the camera.

• 13:07Speaker 00

No, but I'm saying it's not good.

• 13:08Speaker 01

  You wear things for yourself.

• 13:08Speaker 00

I know, I know that mum, but what I'm saying is it's pointless because it's not content.

• 13:13Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 13:14Speaker 00

Why, why should we care if he's got sunglasses if it's not for the podcast, do you know what I mean? Otherwise I'd get them for him if I thought it was monetisable.

• 13:20Speaker 01

Why don't you get it, get it for him, darling?

• 13:22Speaker 00

  Okay, yeah, fine.

• 13:23Speaker 01

Yeah, say that it's birthday present.

• 13:25Speaker 02

It feels like we've all sort of smartened up.

• 13:28Speaker 00

I know, by the way, fucking, you need an indicator for how much you're telegraphing this little bit.

• 13:35Speaker 00

So let's, let's, okay, Karen, let's see, Ben, when you're doing a bit like this, you have to disguise, you have to disguise this.

• 13:42Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:43Speaker 00

Basically, what Ben's gonna do is go, it's just a shame that you, um, you seem to be going in the opposite direction or something like that. It's obviously gonna be a slam on me.

• 13:51Speaker 02

Oh, actually, it wasn't. It was just gonna be that we.

• 13:54Speaker 00

And again, by the way, this is, he's, he's changing again now. This is.

• 13:59Speaker 01

He's a director, he can do what he likes.

• 14:02Speaker 02

No, I think maybe there's, this is not planned, but I wonder if all of us address smarter in the hope that maybe you're less, you know, you're less unkind to us and maybe it's just one day we could be sort of even on.

• 14:16Speaker 00

  Camera.

• 14:22Speaker 01

  Yeah, why not?

• 14:23Speaker 00

They think they can be on camera.

• 14:25Speaker 01

  Why not?

• 14:25Speaker 00

This is what happens when you talk to them with respect. They start to think they're actually part of it, mum. That's the problem. You said to me, talk to them nice, and now look, the fucking creature thinks he can be here.

• 14:37Speaker 01

  We are on camera.

• 14:38Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 14:39Speaker 01

  And why can't me?

• 14:39Speaker 00

And now they think, they think they're on a fucking level.

• 14:42Speaker 01

John and the bear can't be, or Joey on camera.

• 14:45Speaker 02

  Take it back.

• 14:45Speaker 01

Why? You are a road bugger, you are.

• 14:47Speaker 00

Um, what's the decision about you being on camera? We're never gonna show you, are we?

• 14:51Speaker 02

  No.

• 14:52Speaker 01

  No.

• 14:53Speaker 00

We will do it at some point, won't we? Like, not early, like, last episode that we ever do, whenever that happens. We'll do like a big reveal.

• 15:00Speaker 02

  That'll be right.

• 15:01Speaker 00

  Yeah?

• 15:01Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 15:01Speaker 00

  Would that be okay?

• 15:02Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 15:02Speaker 00

  Should we do that?

• 15:03Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 15:03Speaker 00

Okay, so six months' time. Mum?

• 15:06Speaker 01

  Yes?

• 15:06Speaker 00

What item of clothing do you think Shania Twain suggested I should wear? Silk. I don't actually remember what she said.

• 15:14Speaker 01

  Light blue shirt or?

• 15:16Speaker 00

Let's have a look, we've got a clip for you because we know you won't have watched it. I've never allowed silk into my life. Okay, well, you need, so that's gonna be.

• 15:23Speaker 07

  Good thing so silk.

• 15:25Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 15:25Speaker 07

Uh, you could have like a silk blend T-shirt.

• 15:29Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 15:30Speaker 07

Doesn't have to be anything extravagant. You don't have to wear lingerie or anything.

• 15:33Speaker 00

No, no, I would, to be clear.

• 15:36Speaker 07

Well, you could wear silk boxers.

• 15:38Speaker 00

  Yeah, there you go.

• 15:38Speaker 07

  Nobody would even know it.

• 15:39Speaker 00

No, but you'd know from the way I carried my stuff.

• 15:44Speaker 00

I I think you'd know. Silk boxer shorts, Mum, what do you think?

• 15:50Speaker 01

We'll be dangling around Lisa on like.

• 15:53Speaker 00

  Why not?

• 15:55Speaker 01

Who can see all the shape and say if you have a small one, it's.

• 16:04Speaker 01

You're the one mentioned when he cut the over jean. This is Sri Lankan over jean, so I'm guessing.

• 16:14Speaker 00

That I've got a tiny penis?

• 16:15Speaker 01

  Yeah, have you?

• 16:22Speaker 00

It's average size for somebody below average. Okay.

• 16:29Speaker 01

I think mother and son should discuss these things.

• 16:31Speaker 00

Well, I didn't want to. I don't think this can be blamed on me.

• 16:37Speaker 01

I'm, I even bought Lisa a nice sexy um.

• 16:43Speaker 00

  Underwear.

• 16:43Speaker 01

  Lingerie?

• 16:44Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 16:44Speaker 01

Yeah, uh, because I thought, I bought it for her, because I thought they are not getting on, so I bought her one and.

• 16:51Speaker 00

This has come from, we were getting on. Mum wanted us to, basically Mum wants us to have another kid.

• 16:57Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's why.

• 16:59Speaker 00

  So she bought Lisa lingerie.

• 17:01Speaker 01

  Try a girl.

• 17:02Speaker 02

What kind of, like, describe the lingerie?

• 17:04Speaker 01

Really short one and shorts and sexy top. I don't.

• 17:09Speaker 02

  What made it sexy?

• 17:10Speaker 01

They must have given it to charity there.

• 17:12Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 17:12Speaker 01

Any clothes I buy for homage goes to charity. I never seen them wearing it, never, ever.

• 17:21Speaker 00

Charity, bin fire, what's the difference? You, I don't think you can give lingerie to charity, by the way.

• 17:27Speaker 01

So what do you do then?

• 17:28Speaker 00

Well, I don't, I'm pretty sure you can't give lingerie. I don't know. I think, I can't remember. It was, this is a long time ago. It's like fifteen years ago.

• 17:37Speaker 01

  You didn't get it then?

• 17:38Speaker 00

  Didn't get what?

• 17:39Speaker 01

  Whatever I expected.

• 17:41Speaker 00

  What did you expect?

• 17:41Speaker 01

Oh, no, you didn't give it to her then.

• 17:43Speaker 00

  Oh, my gosh.

• 17:46Speaker 01

  Just asking.

• 17:47Speaker 02

How did Lisa react when she opened the gift?

• 17:50Speaker 00

Uh, we had to go to the doctor to get her vagina unsealed.

• 17:57Speaker 00

  It's how she reacted.

• 17:59Speaker 02

I mean, I back you on those things, but I think, isn't that?

• 18:02Speaker 00

  It's insane.

• 18:03Speaker 02

It's unusual, isn't it? It's an unusual gift.

• 18:06Speaker 00

That, this is, by the way, this is the closest we had to Ben disagree with mum ever.

• 18:10Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 18:11Speaker 02

This is, I'm saying it's unusual, like it's thoughtful.

• 18:14Speaker 01

  Ah, there you are.

• 18:17Speaker 01

I want a baby girl, daughter, uh, granddaughter. So I thought they are going to stop with three. If you can afford to have more children, bring them to the earth and enjoy. But nothing happened. Anyway, you stopped, stopped, stopped.

• 18:36Speaker 00

  But, um.

• 18:40Speaker 00

I mean, I was about to say, I don't want to talk about this anymore. I didn't want to talk about it at all. But that ship has sailed now.

• 18:45Speaker 01

  All right. Oh.

• 18:46Speaker 00

Uh, what I would say is I think it's an unusual, I think you're right, Ben, it's an unusual gift from a mother-in-law to give underwear.

• 18:55Speaker 01

When I look at Lisa, I thought she won't get angry.

• 18:59Speaker 00

  Hmm.

• 18:59Speaker 01

  If I give her something.

• 19:00Speaker 00

But what I don't want is in the bedroom to look at Lisa and be reminded of you. That's the, that's the big issue.

• 19:12Speaker 01

Why do I, you hate me that much?

• 19:14Speaker 00

  No, it's not.

• 19:17Speaker 00

It's not that I hate you. I don't want to be

• 19:21Speaker 00

sort of starting to have sexualization, go, God, this is a nice present from mum. Do you know what I mean?

• 19:27Speaker 01

  I know.

• 19:27Speaker 00

It's, I don't, never the twain shall meet. I don't, I don't think those things should intersect in any way.

• 19:33Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 19:34Speaker 00

You know? And it's being open and then this, you know, this is.

• 19:37Speaker 01

I'm very open. I will say everything.

• 19:39Speaker 00

  Yeah, I know.

• 19:40Speaker 01

  I don't hide anything.

• 19:42Speaker 00

  No.

• 19:42Speaker 01

I, I, I won't, I won't be in a position to talk to my both boys about everything.

• 19:48Speaker 00

Yes, but I think that the lingerie was a step too far. Every now and again in life, you wish that those little, you know, the things in Men in Black? You wish those existed. This is one of those moments. Uh, okay. Thank you, Mum, for the lingerie gift.

• 20:04Speaker 01

  You're welcome.

• 20:05Speaker 00

Uh, do you think I should get silk boxer shorts?

• 20:08Speaker 01

  You should, you should.

• 20:10Speaker 00

  Okay, I'll think about it.

• 20:11Speaker 01

You are getting, I must give you a compliment. You are, I think you are doing something, I'm advising you, looking after your body.

• 20:18Speaker 00

You think I'm doing something that you're advising me?

• 20:21Speaker 01

Yeah, I did advise, but I don't wanna say it out.

• 20:24Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 20:25Speaker 01

So it's working on you, on your face, on your body, so.

• 20:29Speaker 00

What is it you think you advised me that I'm doing?

• 20:31Speaker 01

  Facial exercise.

• 20:33Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 20:33Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 20:34Speaker 00

You think that, you, cause you are under the impression that my face has changed shape, haven't you?

• 20:37Speaker 01

It has changed. It has changed.

• 20:41Speaker 00

  I don't think it has.

• 20:42Speaker 01

  I'm telling you, it's changed.

• 20:45Speaker 00

And listen, who knows better out of us two?

• 20:47Speaker 01

  Me.

• 20:48Speaker 00

Whether my face has changed, exactly. Um.

• 20:51Speaker 05

Do you think it's more sort of angle, is the angles?

• 20:54Speaker 01

  The.

• 20:56Speaker 00

Why are you supporting, why are you asking follow up question?

• 20:58Speaker 01

Why you, whoever support me, you don't like it, why?

• 21:01Speaker 00

He asked a follow up question, that's what angered me.

• 21:04Speaker 01

  This.

• 21:07Speaker 00

Sorry, John, what was your question?

• 21:09Speaker 05

  My, my question was.

• 21:10Speaker 00

Oh, right. Why do you think my face, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 21:12Speaker 01

This thing, it had to be nicely shaped, yeah.

• 21:16Speaker 00

  The jowls.

• 21:17Speaker 01

Uh, otherwise it will start to drag, come here.

• 21:20Speaker 00

  Hmm.

• 21:21Speaker 01

And you should do the other thing is, do this, lift it, because when the head, top of the head gets old, it drags it.

• 21:30Speaker 00

The top, a lot of people don't know this, the top of the head ages at a different rate to the rest of the head. So often people don't realise, but they've got a really old top of the head. And it actually makes sense, because if you think about, if you think about birth, what do you see first? Top of the head. The top of the head is slight, is older than the re, the rest of you. And that's actually where people don't realise, that's where you age the most.

• 21:56Speaker 01

Do you think you don't age? Why do you get this moon on the head?

• 21:59Speaker 00

Yeah, because it's older, it's older. People don't realise.

• 22:03Speaker 01

  It's the pressure.

• 22:04Speaker 00

  Your toes incredibly young.

• 22:07Speaker 01

We are talking about the face.

• 22:10Speaker 00

  Yes.

• 22:10Speaker 01

Why are you going to the toes?

• 22:11Speaker 00

  I don't know.

• 22:13Speaker 01

Stick to that one thing, okay? Don't, don't make.

• 22:16Speaker 00

  No.

• 22:17Speaker 01

  All right.

• 22:17Speaker 00

  Hmm.

• 22:18Speaker 02

So what's the exercise you should do to keep your top of your head down?

• 22:20Speaker 00

  Together.

• 22:21Speaker 02

Like if you were gonna like recommend people, what would it be?

• 22:24Speaker 01

Put the pencil in your mouth.

• 22:26Speaker 02

  What?

• 22:26Speaker 01

Or here, rather, and lift it. And hold on to this.

• 22:32Speaker 00

Have we got, have we got some pencils?

• 22:34Speaker 01

  A thin one, Larry.

• 22:36Speaker 00

I'll have a thick one, please, Joshua.

• 22:38Speaker 01

  What?

• 22:39Speaker 00

I need a lot of work. Uh, only if you're gonna try this.

• 22:43Speaker 01

  Hmm hmm hmm.

• 22:44Speaker 00

So what do you do? You're full, did you say?

• 22:50Speaker 01

  Brody smile.

• 22:51Speaker 00

Really, you know what? I don't think you've made an interjection that I don't like one.

• 23:02Speaker 01

  Why do you?

• 23:03Speaker 00

It's very, it's very rare, but when you do it, special, very special, yes?

• 23:08Speaker 01

You have got a thick pen.

• 23:10Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 23:10Speaker 01

Wait, have you got a big lips?

• 23:13Speaker 00

What are we gonna do? Just talk me through it.

• 23:15Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 23:19Speaker 01

  Don't touch the bloody thing.

• 23:23Speaker 01

You have to bring this up.

• 23:26Speaker 00

  How?

• 23:28Speaker 01

There you are. When you practice, it'll happen.

• 23:30Speaker 00

  What? Did you tell me?

• 23:31Speaker 01

  Huh?

• 23:32Speaker 00

  Tell me.

• 23:33Speaker 01

You are not moving this. Hmm.

• 23:36Speaker 00

  Oh, yeah, wow.

• 23:39Speaker 01

  No, eyes, these cheekbones.

• 23:42Speaker 00

How the fuck do you move your cheekbones?

• 23:45Speaker 01

It's hard at the beginning to move it, yeah.

• 23:49Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 23:50Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 23:51Speaker 00

I'm gonna be honest with you, it's not as good content as I thought it was gonna be.

• 23:55Speaker 00

We're gonna do a special feature now, but we're, through special effects, we've got to change hats now for this bit, so.

• 24:05Speaker 00

  Okay, quick one, switch.

• 24:08Speaker 00

  Whoa.

• 24:09Speaker 02

Wow. Oh my god. Are we at Wimbledon? It's magic.

• 24:15Speaker 00

It's time for a special part of today's show, Rally the Facts, and it's brought to you by Wimbledon. Wimbledon 2026 is in full swing and every year the championship serves up some must see moments. As a reminder of the incredible scenes at SW19 we've seen over the years, we're going to be putting our knowledge to the test. This is going to be a shit show. Ben is going to serve mum and me some questions about memorable Wimbledon moments and I'll either ace them or get a fault. Hopefully I'll fare better than when I faced Andy Murray on court, unless we're playing table tennis and which case I've absolutely smashed into pieces.

• 24:50Speaker 00

How do you like that, Andy? Okay, it's time for the quiz. Are you ready for a Wimbledon quiz, mum?

• 24:55Speaker 01

  Of course.

• 24:55Speaker 00

  Okay, let's do it.

• 24:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:57Speaker 02

So question one. In 2010, John Isner and Nicholas Mahut played the longest tennis match in history at Wimbledon. How many hours was it?

• 25:05Speaker 00

  How many hours was it?

• 25:10Speaker 01

  Five?

• 25:12Speaker 02

Incorrect. Closest wins. So we get eight points.

• 25:16Speaker 00

Uh, five hours and one minute.

• 25:21Speaker 02

Do you want to top that?

• 25:21Speaker 00

Unbelievable. What do you mean? It's not an auction.

• 25:27Speaker 01

  Six and eleven hours.

• 25:29Speaker 02

  You're going for eleven hours?

• 25:30Speaker 00

Six and eleven hours. So she's gone seventeen hours. I'm gonna go eleven hours.

• 25:34Speaker 02

  No, no, you can't.

• 25:35Speaker 00

No, no, no, she said six.

• 25:36Speaker 01

  No, I mean.

• 25:37Speaker 00

  She said six.

• 25:38Speaker 02

You said five hours, one minute.

• 25:39Speaker 00

Why are you giving her a second go? Why didn't I get a second go?

• 25:42Speaker 01

  Because you are a man.

• 25:44Speaker 02

Wasn't what I was gonna say, but uh.

• 25:46Speaker 01

  Ladies first.

• 25:47Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 25:47Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 25:48Speaker 02

What are you going for, Shanthi?

• 25:49Speaker 01

  Eleven.

• 25:49Speaker 02

Eleven hours. Eleven hours and five minutes, but we'll give it to you. That's correct.

• 25:53Speaker 00

Why didn't it come back to me?

• 25:55Speaker 02

Question three. Oh, it's an ace for you.

• 25:58Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 25:58Speaker 02

  Fault for Romesh.

• 25:59Speaker 00

Why don't you fuck off out the door, George? I should never have let you in the doorway.

• 26:07Speaker 02

  In 1974.

• 26:09Speaker 00

  Oh my god.

• 26:12Speaker 00

  We didn't get a 2023 question right.

• 26:14Speaker 02

  Ilya Nastase.

• 26:17Speaker 00

  Nastasi, isn't it?

• 26:18Speaker 02

  Yep. In 1974, Ilya.

• 26:23Speaker 02

  In 1974, Nastasi.

• 26:26Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 26:26Speaker 02

Lost a clash against American Dick Stockton. He famously conceded two points while playing with his racket in his right hand. And what was in his left? A, a bottle of water. B, a packet of crisps. C, an umbrella.

• 26:41Speaker 01

  A packet of crisps.

• 26:43Speaker 02

  Rom, you go first.

• 26:45Speaker 00

  What?

• 26:46Speaker 02

Rom, you go first. What was it? A, bottle of water.

• 26:50Speaker 00

  A, umbrella.

• 26:52Speaker 02

Shanthi, what do you want to go for?

• 26:54Speaker 01

  Packet of crisps.

• 26:55Speaker 02

Okay. That's a fault, Shanthi. Ace, Romesh.

• 26:58Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 26:58Speaker 00

  Oh, stung, didn't it?

• 27:00Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:00Speaker 02

It's great. This makes it tense. In 1996 Wimbledon semi final, Steffi Graf blamed a lost point on a male fan. What was it the fan that did? What was it the fan did?

• 27:12Speaker 00

What was it the fan that did?

• 27:16Speaker 02

In 1996 Wimbledon semi final, Steffi Graf blamed a lost point on a male fan. What was it the fan did?

• 27:26Speaker 02

It's funny, it's harder than you think, isn't it? When you do weakest link, you're actually really good.

• 27:28Speaker 00

Yeah, thanks. Um, what was it the fan that did? What did the fan that do? Um.

• 27:37Speaker 00

Did, Mum, what do you think the fan that did? Who do you want to, who do you want to go first? Is it, why? I find it incredible there's not multiple choice on this.

• 27:44Speaker 02

Um, I can give you a multiple choice. I can make a multiple choice.

• 27:47Speaker 01

Multiple choice, yeah. I can guess.

• 27:49Speaker 00

You're going to freestyle a multiple choice now?

• 27:50Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 27:50Speaker 00

  Okay, go on.

• 27:51Speaker 02

Uh, what was it the fan did? Drink loudly?

• 27:57Speaker 02

Propose to her? Or start dancing?

• 28:02Speaker 01

  Propose to her.

• 28:04Speaker 02

  That's correct.

• 28:08Speaker 02

  It's getting tense.

• 28:09Speaker 01

  Mr. Weecusly.

• 28:10Speaker 02

So there's an optional bonus point because we we all want another one. What was Steffi's response to the proposal? What did she say?

• 28:19Speaker 00

She said yes, right? Oh, no, I do you have any money or something?

• 28:22Speaker 02

  Well done, yeah. Ace. Ace.

• 28:25Speaker 00

  Thank you.

• 28:25Speaker 02

I've forgotten the format. How much money do you have? But we'll give you that.

• 28:28Speaker 00

  Thanks.

• 28:29Speaker 02

2008 was the debut year for which trained Wimbledon employee that has been tasked with keeping pests away from the courts?

• 28:37Speaker 00

I think I know the answer to this.

• 28:39Speaker 02

  Do you know, Shanthi?

• 28:41Speaker 01

  Warner hat?

• 28:42Speaker 00

That's it, Warner hat. The the employee at Wimbledon responsible for keeping pests away, Warner hat.

• 28:51Speaker 02

  Is it?

• 28:53Speaker 00

It's a hawk, isn't it? Or a bird of prey or something.

• 28:56Speaker 02

  I can't give you that.

• 28:57Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:57Speaker 02

I can't give you that. You're now out for this round.

• 29:00Speaker 00

  Oh, she said Warner hat.

• 29:01Speaker 02

  It's a multiple choice.

• 29:02Speaker 00

  She said Warner hat.

• 29:03Speaker 02

  She was just free.

• 29:04Speaker 00

So she got, you can give her that, you can give her that.

• 29:06Speaker 02

So just can you please order? What they said, quiet, please.

• 29:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:13Speaker 02

Eduardo the Eagle, Fiona the Falcon or Rufus the Hawk?

• 29:17Speaker 00

Oh, I see why you couldn't say that, okay.

• 29:20Speaker 01

That's you are reading the answer.

• 29:23Speaker 00

  Yeah, that's multiple choice.

• 29:24Speaker 02

  A, B or C? A, Eduardo the Eagle?

• 29:26Speaker 00

You still want to back this horse, do you?

• 29:27Speaker 02

B, Fiona the Falcon or C, Rufus the Hawk?

• 29:32Speaker 00

Why are you doing that with your face? You're giving a signal.

• 29:35Speaker 01

  I don't understand those three.

• 29:37Speaker 02

No, but if you're going to go A, B or C, what?

• 29:40Speaker 01

  I'll go for the C.

• 29:42Speaker 02

Oh, okay. Oh, that's an ace for Shanthi.

• 29:45Speaker 00

Isn't it? What does what does C represent, ma'am? What is C?

• 29:48Speaker 01

  You.

• 29:49Speaker 00

  Me.

• 29:50Speaker 02

After winning his first Wimbledon in 2011, Novak Djokovic celebrated in what way that confused and concerned everyone watching? What did he do?

• 30:02Speaker 01

  Multiple choice, please?

• 30:04Speaker 02

Yes, sure, I can give you that. A, strip down to his underwear and streak. B, lick the top of the net from one post to the other. C, get down on his hands and knees and eat the centre court grass.

• 30:16Speaker 01

  I go for the C.

• 30:17Speaker 00

I was gonna go for C.

• 30:18Speaker 02

  Yeah, that's correct. Ace, fault.

• 30:24Speaker 02

Could easily get to double fault. In 2025, former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray famously destroyed which struggling TV comedian in a doubles match against said struggling comedian and brother Jamie Murray?

• 30:40Speaker 01

  Multiple choice, please?

• 30:42Speaker 00

Yeah, okay, why don't you give a multiple choice, Ben?

• 30:45Speaker 01

  You can answer.

• 30:46Speaker 02

You can answer, you can go.

• 30:47Speaker 00

  Uh, Romesh Ranganathan.

• 30:50Speaker 02

  Correct! Ace for Romesh.

• 30:53Speaker 01

  Is that true?

• 30:54Speaker 00

  Hmm, yeah.

• 30:56Speaker 01

  That's a lie.

• 30:57Speaker 00

  It's a lie.

• 31:00Speaker 02

Uh, so you can tie it, it's all on this last one.

• 31:06Speaker 00

What's go- what are you doing? Okay, why are you nodding at each other? Like, is this a controversial question you're about to ask?

• 31:12Speaker 02

  No. Uh, in 1985-

• 31:15Speaker 00

How, how often do quickfire rounds last 90 minutes? Just out of interest.

• 31:21Speaker 02

In 1985, a 17-year-old walked onto Centre Court as an unknown and walked off as Wimbledon champion.

• 31:28Speaker 00

  What year was this?

• 31:29Speaker 02

1985. The youngest men's single winner in the tournament's history, who was he?

• 31:37Speaker 00

  1985.

• 31:41Speaker 00

  1985. Wimbledon.

• 31:45Speaker 01

  Boris Becker?

• 31:47Speaker 00

  I'm gonna go Boris Becker.

• 31:50Speaker 02

It's a tie, I'm gonna have to give that to Romesh, because Boris Becker unfortunately wasn't the answer we were after.

• 31:55Speaker 00

  Yeah. Try mouthing more effectively.

• 32:00Speaker 02

How old was he for a bonus point?

• 32:03Speaker 00

We said it in the question, didn't we? Seventeen.

• 32:06Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 32:08Speaker 00

  Oh shit! Looks like...

• 32:11Speaker 02

So I can't, can't wish your bonus point there?

• 32:14Speaker 00

You can't, sorry. See, offered a bonus point.

• 32:17Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 32:17Speaker 00

Asked the question, I got it right, and you can't offer the bonus point. Why is that?

• 32:22Speaker 02

  I think, it's better as a tie, isn't it? It's lovely, it's a lovely...

• 32:25Speaker 00

You said bonus point, and then mouthed the answer to mum.

• 32:28Speaker 02

Do you want to let John decide?

• 32:29Speaker 00

The thing about Wimbledon is someone does have to win. Oh!

• 32:32Speaker 02

Alright, well let's do a proper...

• 32:33Speaker 04

  What was his seed then?

• 32:34Speaker 00

  What was his seed?

• 32:36Speaker 02

Think about it, seventeen odd, you could probably work it out.

• 32:39Speaker 01

I didn't understand the question, actually.

• 32:41Speaker 02

That's an unfair question in a lot of ways, but it's...

• 32:44Speaker 00

  Unseeded?

• 32:44Speaker 02

Correct, yeah, that's the correct answer.

• 32:46Speaker 00

Where was he seeded is quite misleading then, isn't it?

• 32:48Speaker 01

  It is, yeah.

• 32:50Speaker 00

Was he seeded? I mean, where was he seeded? He wasn't. How the fuck is that a question? So who's the winner then?

• 32:57Speaker 05

  Um, you are.

• 33:00Speaker 00

  Romesh wins.

• 33:00Speaker 01

  Ah, hooray!

• 33:02Speaker 00

  Guys, I won.

• 33:06Speaker 01

  Enough. Put your hands down.

• 33:09Speaker 00

Uh, now, I'm sure there's going to be plenty of memorable moments at this year's championship, probably not as memorable as that quiz of Rally the Facts, but make sure you don't miss a moment by watching the championships live on the BBC from the 29th of June to the 12th of July, or visit wimbledon.com to get all the latest news and updates. Uh, in all seriousness, thank you so much for putting together that quiz. I think you did really well, team.

• 33:32Speaker 01

Thank you, Dan. Thank you, Ian.

• 33:34Speaker 00

Guys, that was the end of Rally the Facts.

• 33:39Speaker 00

Did I go anti-clockwise or clockwise?

• 33:41Speaker 02

  That was right.

• 33:41Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 33:43Speaker 02

No, the other way. Actually, no, can we get one of both?

• 33:47Speaker 00

  Go fuck yourself.

• 33:51Speaker 03

Did you know that psoriatic arthritis may progress over time and could cause permanent joint damage if left untreated?

• 34:02Speaker 03

Listen to what it sounds like to be a million miles away.

• 34:10Speaker 03

Trifaya guselkumab, taken by injection, is a prescription medicine for adults with active psoriatic arthritis. Serious allergic reactions, increased risk of infections or lower ability to fight them, and liver problems may occur. Before treatment, get checked for infections and tuberculosis. • 34:49Speaker 04

  Ugh, I hate Mondays.

• 34:52Speaker 05

  King's Hawaiian cinnamon swirl bite?

• 34:54Speaker 04

Uh, Taylor Hansen? Sure, I'll try one. Mmm.

• 34:57Speaker 06

Hey, let's get back to work, please.

• 35:01Speaker 04

But Taylor Hansen's making my day way better with these new soft and swirly King's Hawaiian cinnamon bites.

• 35:06Speaker 06

  Taylor Hansen? Nice.

• 35:08Speaker 05

  Try one.

• 35:09Speaker 06

  Mmm.

• 35:10Speaker 04

King's Hawaiian cinnamon bites. There's nothing like it.

• 35:16Speaker 00

It's time for audience interaction, where you send in some questions and we give you some advice. A reminder that you can send us a WhatsApp message or voice note to 07731 623355, or email [email protected]. And don't forget, if you haven't already, please, for God's sake, like and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. It helps us and it means you won't miss an episode. Imagine if you missed an episode, it'd be devastating. Um, okay, question one, we've got a voice note from Leona. Hello, Romesh and Shanthi, mainly Shanthi. Everybody loves you so much, Shanthi, you're so wonderful.

• 35:58Speaker 00

I wanted to tell you that I broke up, oh God, I didn't break

• 36:03Speaker 07

My hus- my husband died. That sounds so awful. But he was similar to your husband. He died of pancreatic cancer, which is awful. It's genuinely awful, but I had to put up with a lot of the same things that you did. Can you, can you tell me, how do you move on? I found a younger man and he was a con man. I have no clue. Shanthi, I'd love somebody to just go to the movies with who makes me laugh and play a game of cards with, or walk in the park with. What do you suggest I do? Because I'm just honestly off men. And you're very lucky to have a son like you have. He's hilarious. And so are you and myself. My mom are very similar. And Shanthi, you are a legend. I would prefer no more guests.

• 36:45Speaker 07

Just Shanthi, Shanthi, Shanthi. Sorry, Ramaz, but she's a queen. She's my queen.

• 36:54Speaker 00

Holy shit. That was, I did not expect from the beginning tone of that voice note for there to be a bereavement.

• 37:06Speaker 00

That was wild. Okay, mum, can you help Leona? Thank you, Leona, for your wonderful voice note. Sorry for your loss.

• 37:13Speaker 07

  Thank you, Leona.

• 37:14Speaker 00

Condolences to you. Uh, mum? Have you got any advice for Leona? She, so, guys, can I just ask? So her husband passed away and then she started seeing someone else who ended up being a con man. Is that right? Okay.

• 37:28Speaker 02

  It sounds like.

• 37:29Speaker 00

And so now she's feeling like she's, it sounds like what, sorry?

• 37:31Speaker 02

Didn't it sound like also her deceased husband wasn't faithful?

• 37:36Speaker 00

So deceased husband was a bit like dad. Sri Lankan? And then she started seeing another guy after he passed away and he's a con man. So now she's feeling like she's off men. Have you got any, uh, have you got any advice, mum?

• 37:54Speaker 01

My dear, I did suffer soon after my husband passed away. I didn't know what to do. We were in real, real financial difficulty during that period. And because of my son, he gave me the support and the second son as well with the paperwork. And I got over it. Then I, one day, I, I'm, I'm praying and meditating. I got the answer.

• 38:23Speaker 01

God has sent you to this earth for a reason. Try and enjoy life. You have to find your way to motivate yourself and enjoy. Uh, the even the body he has given us, respect the body. Give the first priority to yourself, learn to be happy, talk to your heart every morning. You will win and you will find the real handsome man, okay? Don't be sad, don't be sad because like all the time you are sad. It's not going to take you anywhere. So be happy and find a way to enjoy yourself. That's what I'm doing. You don't need a man to enjoy though.

• 39:04Speaker 00

  No.

• 39:05Speaker 01

  There you are.

• 39:06Speaker 00

So there you go, Leona. It's an answer that has a similar energy to your initial voice note. Um, I would, I would say, I, I would actually agree with you, mum. Um.

• 39:17Speaker 01

You are the one tell me, mum, forget the past.

• 39:21Speaker 00

Yes, I do. Uh, Leona, uh, I don't. I, I don't think you need to get a man, is the honest truth. You, you should, you can if you want to. But I think sometimes when you get caught up with the idea that if you get a partner, that'll be the be all and end all, then you suddenly that becomes your singular thing that you're trying to go for. And then what that also means is that sometimes you might be with somebody and you start to ignore red flags because you're desperate, because you believe that success looks like being in a relationship. And I think that's what happens to a lot of people. Is that you think that you have to be in a relationship. And so then when people show signs that you shouldn't be with them, you ignore those signs because the idea of being in a relationship

• 40:03Speaker 00

trumps everything else. Do you, do you know what I mean? And so actually devalue being in any kind of relationship. You, you can be in a, in a relationship, but if that person isn't right for you, then you should try and recognize that without the fear of, of, of kind of ending it and being alone. Um, but you sound like, she sounds like a lot of fun. I, I think, um, the problem with relationships is they all fail until they don't. And so you have to ignore all of the previous evidence that your relationships are going to fail to have faith in the next one. And that's quite a difficult thing to do. But you should, and I've got no doubts that someone will come to you who's the right

• 40:46Speaker 00

person for you, but if they don't immediately, that's also okay, you know. Um, I think that sometimes you get so uh obsessed with the fact that your friends and stuff are in relationships, you think I have to be in one, but that's not necessarily true. Uh, good luck in your uh, in your search, but I mean, mum, you haven't, in fairness to, Leona's asking you for advice, but you haven't, she haven't, you haven't been out with anyone since dad, have you?

• 41:12Speaker 01

When you think about holiday, holiday romance and things like that, what do they say, those young men, look at them and say, you look, you don't get this from your husband, they say you look good, my god, how old are you, you, you look half the age, why do you think that is?

• 41:29Speaker 00

  A visa?

• 41:30Speaker 01

  It's, no.

• 41:32Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 41:32Speaker 01

  Pesa, not visa, paisa.

• 41:35Speaker 00

  What's paisa? Money, right, okay.

• 41:37Speaker 01

  There you are.

• 41:38Speaker 00

  But who cares?

• 41:39Speaker 01

What do you mean, who cares? If somebody like me because of my, uh, I live comfortably, I don't like the fucker.

• 41:47Speaker 00

I think that's overrated. I think, I, I think, you know, if you, i- i- if I end up meeting somebody and they're just into it because of, you know, who I am.

• 41:57Speaker 01

I'm frightened actually of having a relationship or anything. Now I have come to a point, I just want to live alone, learn to be happy and enjoy myself.

• 42:12Speaker 00

  So you don't have any?

• 42:13Speaker 01

She's much younger than me, but she need a partner.

• 42:16Speaker 00

  Why?

• 42:18Speaker 01

  She's young darling.

• 42:20Speaker 00

  So what?

• 42:21Speaker 01

She should have a partner to enjoy, share things.

• 42:23Speaker 00

  Got you.

• 42:24Speaker 01

  Has she got any children?

• 42:25Speaker 00

  Don't know.

• 42:27Speaker 01

  She hasn't mentioned anything.

• 42:28Speaker 00

  No.

• 42:29Speaker 01

No, she's young, for my age, I'm telling you, I don't need anybody to make me happy because I trained myself. Why you need another one? I do miss company, like going out and have a cup of tea or cinema and things like that.

• 42:44Speaker 00

  Hmm.

• 42:44Speaker 01

But now I don't need, that's the only thing I miss, I don't want to get.

• 42:51Speaker 01

Relationship with them or anything like that.

• 42:53Speaker 00

And you've never wanted to get into relationships since.

• 42:55Speaker 01

  No, no, no.

• 42:56Speaker 00

  There you go.

• 42:57Speaker 01

  No.

• 42:58Speaker 00

There you go. Okay. Well, thank you so much for your voice note, Leon. We've got a question now via email from Amy.

• 43:04Speaker 01

  Mm hmm.

• 43:05Speaker 00

And Amy says, I'm loving the pod, my absolute favourite. Thank you so much for the laughs. I love you both so much. Thank you so much. My question is to both.

• 43:14Speaker 01

  Love it.

• 43:14Speaker 00

Refreshing change. When I was growing up in the nineties, all my friends had celebrity crushes on footballers, boy bands, et cetera. Peter Andre, Take That were the big ones. They had posters on their bedroom walls or the calendars. I never had a crush and I didn't really get it until now. My celebrity crush is da, da, da. The lovely Romesh.

• 43:38Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 43:39Speaker 00

But I'm now forty and it's quite embarrassing, lol. Oh.

• 43:44Speaker 00

Um, or people say cute. I follow everything he does and try to get to his shows. I'd like to know if Romesh has had any celebrity crushes growing up. If he had a favourite spy school, I had a crush on Britney Spears. These seem to be the crushes the boys had in the nineties. Did he follow or get it? Or even if Romesh will bring out a poster or calendar.

• 44:07Speaker 00

For the ladies, because I'm sure I'm not the only one. I think you might be. Also, if Shanthi had or has had any celebrity crushes or if it's acceptable. Thank you. Your biggest fan, Amy. Thank you so much, Amy.

• 44:20Speaker 01

  Are you happy?

• 44:22Speaker 00

Am I happy? Um, in order to be happy, I'd need some more background stuff on Amy, to be honest with you.

• 44:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:30Speaker 00

Um, it says here, there's a pattern of super fan listeners called Amy. Is, did we have another Amy obsessive? What did the other Amy say? She thought you were a sexual icon. That was Amy. That was also Amy. Definitely Amy. Different Amy, holy shit.

• 44:44Speaker 01

Maybe Amy likes you, the name, the name.

• 44:47Speaker 00

Maybe there's something in the name that, yeah.

• 44:49Speaker 01

I'm telling you, you are a sexy man, but you put yourself down, you are not following Bruce Lee's advice.

• 44:57Speaker 00

  No, you're right.

• 44:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:59Speaker 00

  I'm a sexy man.

• 45:00Speaker 01

  Sexy man, sing a song.

• 45:02Speaker 00

  I'm a sex, I'm too sexy.

• 45:06Speaker 01

  What's the song?

• 45:06Speaker 00

I'm too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my mum, too sexy for this podcast.

• 45:13Speaker 01

  You are.

• 45:14Speaker 00

  Thanks, I'm sexy.

• 45:16Speaker 01

I like men dressing well, yeah, but when I see you sometimes, not I.

• 45:23Speaker 00

You don't like how I'm dressed today, dear.

• 45:25Speaker 01

  No, you look good.

• 45:26Speaker 00

  Okay, good.

• 45:27Speaker 01

I love the trouser, the colour.

• 45:29Speaker 00

  Great, thank you.

• 45:30Speaker 01

And you are getting your shoulders straightened.

• 45:33Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 45:33Speaker 01

  Look good.

• 45:34Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 45:35Speaker 01

Otherwise, I don't want you to be like this.

• 45:36Speaker 00

Hunched, yeah. You used to say that to me so much when I was a kid, you're hunching, stop hunching.

• 45:41Speaker 01

Straighten your shoulder, sit up, yeah, you are a big man there for yourself.

• 45:46Speaker 00

Who are you talking to now?

• 45:47Speaker 01

  Men.

• 45:48Speaker 00

  Ben?

• 45:48Speaker 01

  Everybody.

• 45:49Speaker 00

  Oh, men, all men?

• 45:50Speaker 01

  All men.

• 45:51Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 45:51Speaker 01

Yeah, can you imagine the man go, you look so nice, would you like it?

• 45:56Speaker 00

Would I like if a man went like this, you used to look so nice? I wouldn't mind it. Uh, did I have any celebrity crushes? Not, who did I have a celebrity, oh, um, Jet from Gladiators had a crush on. Uh, Jessica Rabbit, what?

• 46:13Speaker 01

  Jessica Rabbit?

• 46:14Speaker 00

  Rabbit?

• 46:14Speaker 01

  What's that?

• 46:15Speaker 00

  Had a crush on?

• 46:16Speaker 02

  It's a cartoon rabbit.

• 46:17Speaker 00

  Roger Rabbit's wife?

• 46:18Speaker 02

Cartoon, not the rabbit, is it?

• 46:20Speaker 00

  No. Roger Rabbit's wife, yeah?

• 46:24Speaker 01

That rabbit has big boobs, isn't it?

• 46:27Speaker 00

No, the rabbit didn't have big boobs. Jessica Rabbit was not a rabbit, she just take, that was her married name.

• 46:34Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 46:34Speaker 00

I don't know what her maiden name, did it ever say in the film what her maiden name was? No.

• 46:39Speaker 00

That's one of my issues with Roger Rabbit, they didn't fill out a lot of the backstory, they didn't flesh it out. Um, you know, why did the weasels fall into crime?

• 46:48Speaker 05

  Oh.

• 46:48Speaker 02

  She wears a red dress.

• 46:49Speaker 05

  She's a human.

• 46:50Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 46:51Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 46:51Speaker 00

  Yeah, she's a human, yeah. She's a human, right?

• 46:53Speaker 05

  Hmm.

• 46:54Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah.

• 46:54Speaker 00

  Cartoon.

• 46:55Speaker 02

Yes, yeah, I suppose she was.

• 46:57Speaker 00

Yeah, and occasionally I still have, you know, you get crushes now, don't you, like, um.

• 47:02Speaker 01

Ah, the singer, what's her name? Mariah, Maro- Mariah.

• 47:07Speaker 00

  Mariah Carey?

• 47:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 47:09Speaker 00

  What are you asking?

• 47:09Speaker 01

You liked her, you liked her songs and you fancy, no?

• 47:13Speaker 00

Yeah, I didn't have a crush on her. No.

• 47:16Speaker 01

But when you're in California, you keep on saying, oh, my Lisa's and my husband likes, so I must book it for.

• 47:23Speaker 00

  What?

• 47:23Speaker 01

  To see her, yeah?

• 47:24Speaker 00

  No, she didn't.

• 47:26Speaker 01

  The van, she did.

• 47:27Speaker 00

In the van? She said, let's book to see Mariah Carey?

• 47:29Speaker 01

Yeah, because Romesh loves it, yeah.

• 47:31Speaker 00

Hmm, I don't know, that might have been for TV.

• 47:33Speaker 01

Or maybe you were lying to her.

• 47:35Speaker 00

Yeah, I mean, what a weird lie, though.

• 47:37Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 47:37Speaker 00

Who, who do you have a crush on? Tom Selleck, we know that.

• 47:40Speaker 01

  That's the only man.

• 47:41Speaker 00

  Amit Bhachan?

• 47:42Speaker 01

  No.

• 47:43Speaker 00

  Uh, Rajnikant?

• 47:45Speaker 01

  No.

• 47:46Speaker 00

  Um. Uh.

• 47:50Speaker 02

  Idris.

• 47:51Speaker 00

  Imran Khan?

• 47:52Speaker 01

  Idris, I hate him.

• 47:53Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 47:54Speaker 01

Such a rule bugger he is.

• 47:56Speaker 00

Ben, Ben, Ben, you've got to be up to date with Shanthi Law.

• 48:01Speaker 02

  Okay, sorry.

• 48:01Speaker 00

And the current state of, you, you're like three seasons behind, man. The current state of affairs with mum and Idris is she does not like him.

• 48:13Speaker 01

When the advertisement come on the telly.

• 48:15Speaker 00

  Hmm.

• 48:15Speaker 01

I switch it off. As much I hate him.

• 48:19Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 48:19Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 48:19Speaker 01

He's such a rule bugger, he ignored my son.

• 48:22Speaker 00

None of this is true, by the way.

• 48:23Speaker 02

He'd be welcome on the podcast.

• 48:24Speaker 00

Yeah, we'd love him on the podcast. This is not true, he didn't ignore me.

• 48:28Speaker 01

  He didn't ignore you.

• 48:29Speaker 00

  Didn't.

• 48:29Speaker 01

You came and told me, he doesn't want to see anybody.

• 48:32Speaker 00

  No.

• 48:33Speaker 01

Why can't he see? Because suddenly he's come up?

• 48:35Speaker 00

No, that didn't hap- that's not what happened. I've told this story so many times and your interpretation of it is different every time.

• 48:42Speaker 01

You are just covering up for him.

• 48:44Speaker 00

I'm not covering up for him.

• 48:45Speaker 01

  I don't like him.

• 48:47Speaker 00

Mum, can I clear, you should like him. He didn't do anything wrong. He didn't do anything wrong.

• 48:53Speaker 01

  In your eyes, he didn't.

• 48:54Speaker 00

  No.

• 48:55Speaker 01

  But to me.

• 48:56Speaker 00

Well, you weren't there, I was there.

• 48:58Speaker 01

  I was there as well.

• 49:00Speaker 00

You weren't there, so when did he say, when did he ignore you?

• 49:03Speaker 01

I didn't want him to ignore you. I don't, you, you came back all. Romesh, you are changing the story.

• 49:10Speaker 00

  I'm not changing the story.

• 49:12Speaker 01

Maybe he was just about to talk to you, there was another guy next to him.

• 49:17Speaker 00

Yeah, okay, so let me tell the story, let's tell the story, okay?

• 49:19Speaker 01

  Right, okay.

• 49:20Speaker 00

  So, we're at the BAFTAs.

• 49:21Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 49:22Speaker 00

This, by the way, for clarity, this happened eleven years ago.

• 49:28Speaker 00

Okay, so, we're at the BAFTAs. Um, and we got nominated for Asian Provocateur, didn't win. Outside, in that little patio bit before the dinner, and Idris Elba comes over, and I'd met him before, and he said, "Congratulations on your nomination", something like that. And then I said, I, I tried to make a joke, because I was like a bit, and I went, "I wish I'd practised my loser face a bit more" or something. And then he went, "Haha", but it wasn't funny, it was a dead joke, really dead.

• 49:58Speaker 01

  He didn't laugh, did he?

• 50:00Speaker 00

He did laugh, but it was like a laugh of politeness, do you know what I mean? So then, uh, Tom Hiddleston is with him, leant over and said something in his ear, and then they walked away. We don't know what Tom Hiddleston said, Mum, all right? Now.

• 50:16Speaker 01

I can guess, I can guess.

• 50:18Speaker 00

What do you think he said?

• 50:19Speaker 01

He said, "He's a small bugger, just don't waste your time."

• 50:22Speaker 00

I don't think Tom Hiddleston said, "He's a small bugger".

• 50:25Speaker 05

He'd be posher, wouldn't he? He'd be posher than that.

• 50:27Speaker 00

  He's a, he's a small bugger.

• 50:29Speaker 01

  Yeah, like that.

• 50:30Speaker 00

  It's a bloody.

• 50:30Speaker 01

He's a small, just ignore him and walk off.

• 50:33Speaker 00

He looks like he might be upper middle.

• 50:35Speaker 01

Good person, somebody is coming up in, you know, becoming somebody, you support them.

• 50:41Speaker 00

Mum, Mum, Mum, can I, can we just, I think we should start to try and assume the best.

• 50:47Speaker 01

  Assume the best.

• 50:48Speaker 00

It's possible, Tom said, "I've just got a text, we've got to go over to the table", right? That, he might have said that.

• 50:55Speaker 01

  That's your version.

• 50:56Speaker 00

Well, your version, I think my version's more likely than your.

• 50:59Speaker 01

I don't like anybody ignoring you, Romesh.

• 51:00Speaker 00

Fine, anyway, so they walked away.

• 51:01Speaker 01

  Right, right, right.

• 51:02Speaker 00

You were desperate to meet Idris Elba.

• 51:05Speaker 01

  For your wife.

• 51:06Speaker 00

No, for you. You said you were desperate to meet him.

• 51:09Speaker 01

That time, yeah, I thought he's a good man.

• 51:11Speaker 00

So then I thought, after that had happened.

• 51:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 51:14Speaker 00

  I can't.

• 51:14Speaker 01

I didn't talk to you in the car, remember?

• 51:16Speaker 00

Yeah, I know. I'm in the middle of telling this story you're interrupting me with.

• 51:19Speaker 01

  Okay, okay, okay.

• 51:20Speaker 00

  Right, so, so then.

• 51:22Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 51:22Speaker 00

I go back in and I'm like, I can't take you over to Idris Elba now because that was quite slightly embarrassing, right?

• 51:28Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 51:28Speaker 00

So I come back over and I say, Mum, I'm really sorry, but if you want to meet Idris Elba, you're going to have to go over yourself because I can't take, this is too, this has become too. And then you got really pissed off, right? Wouldn't talk to me. Uh, we didn't speak to each other for the rest of the night. Then at the end of it, I said to you, did you enjoy yourself? You said no. And then I said, and I'd actually paid, I don't know if people are aware of this, you get a number of guests for the BAFTA Awards, otherwise you have to pay. I paid six hundred pounds for Mum to come. So I said to Mum, it's a shame you didn't enjoy yourself because it cost me six hundred quid. And you said, I wish you hadn't bloody bothered, right? That direct quote, right?

• 52:13Speaker 00

  We then, we then.

• 52:17Speaker 01

  Didn't make it work.

• 52:18Speaker 00

We travel back in the car in fucking silence.

• 52:22Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 52:22Speaker 00

Right? But at that time, I think BAFTA was sponsored by, the cars were sponsored by Audi. So it's like they sent like these Audi drivers to. So we get going in the car, it's the same driver that had taken us there, brought us back. The whole way there, Mum's talking about how she wants to meet Idris Elba. We're all chatty, Mum and Lisa are excited about it. Silence, journey back. As we pull up at Mum's house, the driver turns around and says, so did you meet Idris Elba in the end? I said to him, mate, literally the, I cannot think of a worse thing you could have said in this moment.

• 52:56Speaker 00

So that is the Idris Elba story.

• 52:58Speaker 01

I didn't say bye to him.

• 52:59Speaker 00

Yeah, she didn't say bye and anything like that.

• 53:01Speaker 01

I got off the car and I went on.

• 53:05Speaker 00

So it was a big misunderstanding.

• 53:07Speaker 01

I don't know. I really want to know.

• 53:10Speaker 00

That is one of the most incredibly willfully understanding responses you could have. Mum, you were bang out of order then.

• 53:20Speaker 01

  I wasn't.

• 53:20Speaker 00

It was well out of order. It was.

• 53:22Speaker 01

Ronnie, I don't like anybody ignoring you, Mum.

• 53:26Speaker 00

  He didn't ignore me.

• 53:27Speaker 01

I'm not asking him to respect you.

• 53:29Speaker 00

Yeah, no, god forbid. Let's not take, let's not take it too far.

• 53:34Speaker 02

  You can't ask too much.

• 53:36Speaker 00

Anyway, the point is, he didn't do anything wrong. Tom Hiddleston probably didn't do anything wrong. It was just a bit embarrassing and then I didn't wanna then drag you over there. And then for some reason that made me the prick. You didn't talk to me for the rest of the evening. So, so I've paid six hundred quid for mum to come.

• 53:49Speaker 01

Is it too much for me?

• 53:51Speaker 00

For you to be a miserable little shit, yes it is. For you to have a good time, of course not. I'd happily spend that money. To spend, to pay six hundred pounds for your own fucking, to bring a nemesis to the thing and sit there. You shouldn't have bothered. I've paid six hundred pounds to have my self-esteem fucking torched. I go to the BAFTA, don't win. First time ever, don't win, right? Disappointed by that. Then I come back for the dinner. Hmm, I don't hate it. I hate it here. Horrible evening. No, do I wanna pay six hundred pounds for that? No, I don't. Does that make me weird?

• 54:28Speaker 01

You never invited me after that.

• 54:30Speaker 00

  Correct. Correct. Well done.

• 54:34Speaker 01

Then he's, he came and rubbing it in. He said, I took Lisa to BAFTA. You know, after the episode last time, I didn't invite you. You did tell me, Romy.

• 54:47Speaker 00

No, that was, no, you're delivering that like a bit. I was doing it as a delivery, being funny. That was a wind up. That wasn't.

• 54:54Speaker 01

You know, I didn't invite you.

• 54:55Speaker 00

That's not that she's getting, she's getting, she's getting the tone all wrong. Anyway, you did come back when we hosted, didn't you?

• 55:03Speaker 01

No, that's the last time you invited me, Romy.

• 55:05Speaker 00

You haven't been since twenty fifteen?

• 55:06Speaker 01

  No.

• 55:07Speaker 00

Fuck. Is that true? You haven't been, oh no, Royal Variety you came to, didn't you?

• 55:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 55:12Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 55:13Speaker 01

Yeah. I wanted to see that, give me that name, man.

• 55:17Speaker 00

Tom Hiddleston. What are you gonna do?

• 55:19Speaker 01

Do they, uh, a few years ago, somebody said to him and he was standing there. I, I hope I'm saying the right thing.

• 55:30Speaker 00

  Me too.

• 55:31Speaker 01

And said, you know, you, they are expecting you to be the James Bond next time.

• 55:39Speaker 00

  The next James Bond, yeah.

• 55:40Speaker 01

Did they say that they were standing there or hmm, you didn't look like a James Bond at all?

• 55:47Speaker 00

Is that the end of the story?

• 55:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 55:51Speaker 02

So do you like Idris Elba?

• 55:53Speaker 01

  No.

• 55:55Speaker 00

No, but you got mum, I've just corrected.

• 55:56Speaker 01

Until I meet him, I will tell him at his face.

• 55:59Speaker 00

  What will you say?

• 56:00Speaker 01

  You ignore my.

• 56:01Speaker 00

Imagine I'm Idris Elba now. Hello, Shanthi.

• 56:04Speaker 01

  Hello, Shanthi.

• 56:05Speaker 00

  That was good.

• 56:05Speaker 01

He doesn't look like that now.

• 56:07Speaker 00

Doesn't look like what? He's never looked like this ever. I assume he's been in an accident. Okay. Hello, Shanthi.

• 56:16Speaker 01

  What do you want?

• 56:17Speaker 00

  I don't want anything.

• 56:20Speaker 01

You couldn't even give a shit when my son came to introduce himself. You walked off. I think I found it very, very rude as a mother is coming from me, accept it. And what's the answer you are going to give it to me?

• 56:34Speaker 00

  I think I'm.

• 56:36Speaker 01

You can't answer. Yeah. But, oh, I'm sorry. That's what you're going to say? Fuck off, Romy.

• 56:43Speaker 00

  Romy?

• 56:46Speaker 00

I'm not sure either of us committed to the role play as much as we should have done. Mum, Idris, okay, look, can we just get this? So we were doing a show in America, right? And genuinely, this is true, we wanted to arrange for you to meet Idris Elba.

• 56:59Speaker 01

You thought, you are lying now. How, how do I meet Idris Elba?

• 57:04Speaker 00

Ben, Ben, can you back me up?

• 57:06Speaker 02

No, no. He's actually been quite supportive of you in your career.

• 57:09Speaker 00

Mum, he has been so supportive.

• 57:10Speaker 01

  When he became famous, Romy.

• 57:12Speaker 00

  No, not true, not true.

• 57:14Speaker 02

  He was already famous.

• 57:14Speaker 00

  I was already famous.

• 57:15Speaker 02

Well, nominated for a BAFTA at that point.

• 57:16Speaker 00

Yeah, I mean, it's not, that's not mega famous, is it? Uh, but he, um, he's been really supportive and he's put me up for stuff and he was gonna come and meet you as part of the show, wasn't he?

• 57:28Speaker 01

  I think that's a lie.

• 57:29Speaker 00

It's not a lie. Why? Ben's saying, Ben, can you?

• 57:32Speaker 02

We did, we were trying to set it up, but the schedule's in the line or we had some.

• 57:35Speaker 00

  There was some issue.

• 57:35Speaker 01

Some issue with him. Always an issue with him. Yeah. Issue with him. Somebody has to say something in his ears or issue. What does he think he is?

• 57:47Speaker 01

  God gives you women?

• 57:49Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 57:50Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 57:50Speaker 02

  Yeah. Yeah, that's, yeah.

• 57:52Speaker 05

  He is.

• 57:52Speaker 01

  Forget that.

• 57:53Speaker 02

  Exactly what he is.

• 57:53Speaker 01

  Don't mention his name.

• 57:55Speaker 00

He really likes you. It's a shame.

• 57:56Speaker 01

  Shut up, Romy.

• 57:58Speaker 00

  Mum, he really likes you.

• 58:00Speaker 01

  No, he doesn't.

• 58:01Speaker 00

He does. He's told me numerous times. He's a fan.

• 58:04Speaker 05

We need to get, we need to get him in.

• 58:06Speaker 02

That's it. We need to get him on.

• 58:07Speaker 05

We've got to get him in.

• 58:08Speaker 00

  He really likes you.

• 58:09Speaker 05

He needs to be able to tell his side of the story. Like, we can, um, you know.

• 58:12Speaker 01

Then I'll find out what that fucker said.

• 58:15Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 58:15Speaker 02

Maybe though, if he's here, let's not call him a fucker. Let's just call him Idris maybe.

• 58:19Speaker 00

  Mum's talking about Tom Hiddleston.

• 58:21Speaker 02

Oh, no, I was saying we need to get Idris in.

• 58:22Speaker 05

Yeah, but we're saying, yeah, but then.

• 58:24Speaker 02

And Tom Hiddleston, and that'd be quite the booking.

• 58:25Speaker 01

I used to like him. I, you know, he come up and he doing well. And I really loved it. So that's why I was, and my daughter-in-law loved him as well. Claire likes him. Lisa loved it. His height and everything. That's why I wanted to meet him and give the.

• 58:44Speaker 02

Why don't you offer like a, an olive branch to Idris, maybe, or a little message?

• 58:48Speaker 01

  Watermelon branch? What's that?

• 58:49Speaker 00

Like, why don't you do a message to Idris to encourage him to come onto the podcast and be nice, please? Because he hasn't done anything wrong, so try and be a bit chatty.

• 58:55Speaker 01

Can I call him a sir?

• 58:57Speaker 00

  Yeah, I'd love you to.

• 58:58Speaker 01

Hi, Idris, sir. I would love to meet you one day. I remember when I came to Beaufort, you ignored my son. I won't do.

• 59:07Speaker 00

  Mum.

• 59:08Speaker 01

You two answer the question, but I loved you. I don't love you anymore.

• 59:13Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 59:13Speaker 01

But come to the podcast, please.

• 59:15Speaker 00

  Okay, okay.

• 59:20Speaker 00

I, I can't see how that's gonna work, but anyway. Uh, okay, that's all we have got time for, uh, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston. We would love you to get in touch if you'd like to come onto the podcast. I can't imagine why you would, based on what's happened here on the episode, but we will be back on Monday. Do you wanna say goodbye, Mum?

• 59:39Speaker 01

Bye-bye, everybody. I love you all so much. Please send all the questions and emails. We'll happily answer and love your support.

• 59:48Speaker 00
