You and Skip are the only smart people. How's he doing? You checking it out?

• 1:00Speaker 03

  I've not.

• 1:01Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 1:01Speaker 03

  He and I...

• 1:03Adam Friedland?

Listen, it's wrong. But that, one and a half million dollars. Like, for someone to say, "No, I won't have sex with you for a million and a half dollars." That really has to hurt your feelings. Skip must be so... Like, he's like, "What's... I'm that repulsive." A million... Like, okay, would you have sex with... Your wife is here. I'm sure she would say, "Go." For a million and a half dollars, would you let Skip crack? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Would you tell him? If it was on the table still? If Skip was like, "All right, Nick, you're second, you're right second." Would you be like, "Yeah." He would get you something so nice. A million and a half dollars?

• 1:47Adam Friedland?

I would let him do whatever he wants to me. You're not gonna be gay the rest... I'm like, it doesn't make you gay. It's me... Sorry, I'm on a rant right now. And I should be doing this on Fox Sports One.

• 2:31Adam Friedland?

I've been saving up these takes for 38 years, my whole life. And here I get to finally unleash them. So for a few short hours, I got to feel like some of my heroes.

• 3:57Adam Friedland?

Like, you know, Ski Up, or Unk, or Big Perk, or, you know, Ryan Rusillo, Cousin Sal, Keith Oberman. Yeah, Chuck, Diesel.

• 4:15Adam Friedland?

Roy Keane, Jimmy Johnson, Pat McAfee, and you know. And let's not forget Joe Rogan, Chris Collinsworth, Doris Burke. Good girl. Colin Cowherd, pause. Dan Patrick, Jimmy the Greek, Mike Francesa, Malika Andrews, Scott Van Pelt, Matt Barnes, oh, Steven, Matt Barnes, Steven Jackson, All the Smoke. You know, the list, the list obviously goes on. Osho Singco, Travis Kelsey, The Fat Brother. Thierry Henry.

• 4:59Adam Friedland?

You got Gilbert Arenas, Nick Young, Mace, Cam. Hassan Pique. Stav, Bob Costas, Al Michaels, Gus Johnson. Harry Carey. Marv Albert. Kenny the Jet Smith, of course, yeah. Ernie. Ernie EJ Johnson, you know, Voice of Velvet. I mean, the, guys, I mean, I could go, I mean, I could go on forever, you know. Like John Madden, Brent Musburger, you know, I could keep going.

• 5:41Adam Friedland?

Chick Hearn, Vin Scully, Dick Emberg, Dick Bergeron, Dick Vitale. Dick Button. Dick Ebersol. Fuck, there was a Dick Trickle. You know. Dick Stockton. So guys, this is a big one for me. And in my opinion, it's my favorite episode I've ever done. I killed Nick Wright. I ended his career. I ethered him, but he's still a good guy. And I liked him a lot. And I feel like we're friends now. And I don't know, maybe we do a podcast together. Look at him. Woo, that's an intense stare. Please enjoy the interview, guys, with Nick Wright.

• 6:30Adam Friedland?

Sponsored by Ro. Thank you to Ro Sparks for sponsoring this episode. I'm not a real Ro Sparks user, but I'm excited to tell you what it's all about, folks. Women can tell if you're confident in the bedroom and they think it's sexy. And worry about your erection could affect that swag in the bedroom, your swag. Did it turn off? It turned off. Ro Sparks are a two-in-one prescription treatment for guys who want to get harder and more controlled erections. They hit the bloodstream fast because they dissolve under the tongue. And getting hard fast means there's less waiting to perform. After Ro Sparks dissolve, they work in 15 minutes on average. Plus, Ro Sparks Dual Action Formula stays active in the system for up to 36 hours, folks.

• 7:15Adam Friedland?

No, you don't stay hard the whole time, but when you get aroused, you're able to get and maintain an erection. With Ro Sparks, guys can get harder, have more control in bed, and boost to last longer. So everyone gets more pleasure. Ro connects guys with a medical provider 100% online. And if approved, treatment ships directly to your door. Prescribed new sexual health patients get $15 off their first order of Sparks on a recurring plan. Connect with a provider at ro.co/tafs to find out if prescription Ro Sparks are right for you. That's ro.co/tafs for $15 off your first order. Sparks is a compound drug product.

• 7:59Adam Friedland?

Compound drugs are permitted to be prescribed under federal law, but are not FDA approved and do not undergo FDA Safety, Effectiveness, or Manufacturing Review. For full safety information, go to ro.co/safetyinfo.

• 8:15Speaker 03

It's kind of, I don't know if it's what I'm best at. It's, I used to, if you, if you'd asked me 20 years ago what my plan was.

• 8:23Adam Friedland?

  President of the United States.

• 8:24Speaker 03

No, but the idea was to become a, get a big enough name by doing sports. That I could, it was basically Olbermann's career path. Become a big enough name doing sports that I could then do politics. But I've.

• 8:39Adam Friedland?

I think we've started already, right Thomas?

• 8:41Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 8:42Adam Friedland?

Okay, great. We're all kind of exhausted right now. This is the third interview in three days.

• 8:46Speaker 03

Oh, who all have you done?

• 8:48Adam Friedland?

And then the mayor is coming on on Sunday.

• 8:49Speaker 03

  Oh, really?

• 8:50Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. I'm MSM now, dude. I'm mainstream.

• 8:52Speaker 03

  Mainstream, yeah. Yeah, crossed over.

• 8:54Adam Friedland?

  I'm gonna bring out, um...

• 8:55Speaker 03

Long way from the Come Town Podcast.

• 8:58Adam Friedland?

No, it's the same thing, basically, yeah.

• 9:00Speaker 03

But it's a smart rebrand. It's like, like Two Chainz...

• 9:03Adam Friedland?

It's not deliberate at all. Titty Boy?

• 9:06Speaker 03

  Yeah, exactly.

• 9:06Adam Friedland?

Yeah, I think Titty Boy's coming on.

• 9:08Speaker 03

  Oh, that's... Oh, really?

• 9:10Adam Friedland?

Are you a big Tech 9 head?

• 9:12Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 9:12Adam Friedland?

This is the guy of your city?

• 9:14Speaker 03

Yeah, I like him a lot. And he's a really good dude.

• 9:16Adam Friedland?

Is he... Oh, you know him from the celebrity...

• 9:19Speaker 03

Well, yeah, I mean, there's very... There's not a ton of folks that are, like, born and raised Kansas Cityans with, like, national... There's a bunch of people in the comedy world.

• 9:29Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 9:30Speaker 03

  Stone Street.

• 9:30Adam Friedland?

  That never moved.

• 9:31Speaker 03

Rudd. Well, I don't know, you know, I think they moved, but I mean, they're born and raised there. Like, Paul Rudd, Stone Street, Jon Hamm.

• 9:38Adam Friedland?

Are you Casey K or Casey?

• 9:40Speaker 03

  Casey Mo.

• 9:41Adam Friedland?

  Casey Mo?

• 9:42Speaker 03

Yeah. Almost everyone you'd meet is Casey Mo.

• 9:44Adam Friedland?

Do you fuck with Casey K?

• 9:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 9:47Adam Friedland?

  It's more posh, right?

• 9:49Speaker 03

No, it's the opposite. So here's... So this is what's gonna... Oh, I wouldn't... Kansas City, Kansas is a really tough area.

• 9:59Adam Friedland?

Because to me, it all sounds terrible. It sounds... It sounds... I feel like they're all eating meat and just 900 pounds.

• 10:06Speaker 03

  Um, well...

• 10:07Adam Friedland?

You went Kansas City to Houston?

• 10:09Speaker 03

I went, I went Kansas City to Houston, LA to New York.

• 10:11Adam Friedland?

How are you so slim? You're so trim. You went to some big places.

• 10:15Speaker 03

I went to some big... I went to some big places.

• 10:18Adam Friedland?

You went to the gastric bypass capital of America.

• 10:20Speaker 03

  Houston, is that?

• 10:21Adam Friedland?

  Houston, yeah, yeah.

• 10:21Speaker 03

  Is that a fact?

• 10:22Adam Friedland?

I watched 600 Pound Life when Ball is along. Yeah, they're always... Yeah, the guys are always like, "Please stop eating." And then they have to go home and they just can't, they can't stop. They can't stop.

• 10:34Speaker 03

Um, but yeah, so the... No, you're fine. Uh, but no, the reason you thought Kansas City, Kansas more posh is, I don't know if anyone cares about this. There's a road in Kansas City, literally called State Line Road. That's exactly what it sounds like.

• 10:48Adam Friedland?

  That sounds awesome.

• 10:48Speaker 03

And... The Kansas, like, so if you are in Casey Mo and you cross over into Kansas, it's mostly suburbs and stuff, but that's not Kansas City, Kansas. That's like places called Lee Wood and Overland Park. And so there's, there's a, like-

• 11:04Adam Friedland?

So the burbs in Kansas are, are nice.

• 11:06Speaker 03

  Very nice.

• 11:07Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 11:08Speaker 03

And fun fact, the state of Kansas, people are like, why is Kansas City in Missouri? Because the state of Kansas was named after the city of Kansas City. Kansas City, Missouri existed.

• 11:20Adam Friedland?

  It's kind of pathetic.

• 11:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 11:21Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 11:22Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 11:22Adam Friedland?

They named their whole state after, after some other guy?

• 11:25Speaker 03

Yeah, now they're trying to take the Chiefs and the Royals. They're trying to get the Chiefs and the Royals to move state, across state line.

• 11:29Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 11:29Speaker 03

  Be a travesty.

• 11:30Adam Friedland?

  To go to K.

• 11:31Speaker 03

  To go to Kansas.

• 11:32Adam Friedland?

  So there's local rivalries there?

• 11:33Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 11:34Adam Friedland?

You don't fuck with the other guys?

• 11:35Speaker 03

  Well, they-

• 11:35Adam Friedland?

But you all put on for Pat, though.

• 11:37Speaker 03

  Of cour-, yes.

• 11:38Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. That's where you make peace.

• 11:39Speaker 03

Well, the Chiefs and Royals are everyone's, but for the, a lot of those folks went to local colleges. So MU, KU, and K-State are like the local rivalries.

• 11:48Adam Friedland?

  Jayhawks.

• 11:48Speaker 03

KU, Jayhawks, well, though. Yeah, you're a ball knower.

• 11:51Adam Friedland?

  I, I love ball, yeah.

• 11:53Speaker 03

  Football or basketball?

• 11:54Adam Friedland?

Uh, I, basketball, at this point, basketball, kind of the, the, the, the tuck game, kind of, I cried. Uh, because I'm, I'm a Raiders fan and, uh-

• 12:04Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 12:05Adam Friedland?

And it wasn't fair. And I, I remember-

• 12:07Speaker 03

And we're the same age, you're a little younger than me?

• 12:09Adam Friedland?

  I'm 38, you're 42.

• 12:10Speaker 03

  41, but yeah.

• 12:11Adam Friedland?

  41, sorry.

• 12:12Speaker 03

  No, you're fine.

• 12:13Adam Friedland?

You don't look a day over.

• 12:14Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 12:15Adam Friedland?

Uh, but, yeah, I thought it was really cute, like the, you were like a kid, you, the kid, the Casey kid.

• 12:21Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 12:22Adam Friedland?

  Were we involved?

• 12:23Speaker 03

Uh, Nick, Nick, you mean when I called into the radio shows?

• 12:25Adam Friedland?

  The Casey Sports Kid.

• 12:26Speaker 03

Nick, Nick the Kid. Yeah, I called into all the Chiefs post-game shows.

• 12:29Adam Friedland?

And you'd yell about Marty Schottenheimer and, yeah, Andre Risen and-

• 12:32Speaker 03

Yeah, that's right. Andre Risen, I met him in the airport once.

• 12:35Adam Friedland?

We're rivals, we hate each other.

• 12:36Speaker 03

Oh, because you're a Raiders fan, yeah. You guys have a tough couple decades.

• 12:40Adam Friedland?

I'm a, I literally grew up in Vegas, too. I was born in LA and then grew up in Vegas and, uh-

• 12:44Speaker 03

  Very similar to my path.

• 12:46Adam Friedland?

When they moved to Vegas, I, it, I stopped being a fan. It's just not real.

• 12:51Speaker 03

What do you, but they, but they aren't-

• 12:53Adam Friedland?

Half of the stadium is, is traveling fans because they want to go get fucked up-

• 12:57Speaker 03

Yeah, same with the LA, same with Chargers.

• 12:59Adam Friedland?

That's not, that's not an LA team. If you talk to the, the Mexicans in LA, they're still loyal to the Raiders.

• 13:06Speaker 03

  Yes, 100%.

• 13:08Adam Friedland?

They're the most loyal people in the world.

• 13:09Speaker 03

The Raider, well, the Raiders are like one of the biggest national brands in large part, they're, they're-

• 13:15Adam Friedland?

  In Mexico, too.

• 13:15Speaker 03

Yes, that's what I was gonna say, and their, their Latin fanbase is crazy.

• 13:19Adam Friedland?

  It's Dallas and the Raiders.

• 13:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 13:21Adam Friedland?

America's team. They should kind of like stop liking the Cowboys then, if it's America's team. We've been pretty mean to Mexico for a while.

• 13:29Speaker 03

You know, I hadn't thought about that, the moral conundrum of being a Hispanic Cowboys fan.

• 13:34Adam Friedland?

  It's, it's strange.

• 13:35Speaker 03

Yeah, and honestly, you know, they should probably just embrace the Kansas City Chiefs.

• 13:40Adam Friedland?

I, I know a guy who has a, he used to like help out with the show, he has a tattoo on his ass, and it's a Dallas Cowboys star and a Palestine flag. And I was like, that's the only one in the world. That is the only one, and it's on his ass, too.

• 13:55Speaker 03

  Why'd you fire him?

• 13:56Adam Friedland?

I didn't fire him, no, he was like a freelance kind of guy.

• 13:59Speaker 03

Why didn't you bring him back?

• 14:00Adam Friedland?

Uh, I don't know, he lives in Jersey, he's a good guy, I like him a lot, he, he's a documentarian, like, yeah.

• 14:06Speaker 03

He's a documentarian with a Cowboys tattoo on his ass?

• 14:09Adam Friedland?

No, he's not showing the people in the documentary his ass.

• 14:12Speaker 03

No, I got that, but it just seems like a highbrow job, and maybe a-

• 14:16Adam Friedland?

  I don't know, you're saying he's stupid?

• 14:17Speaker 03

No, I'm not saying he's stupid.

• 14:18Adam Friedland?

A Jersey Cowboys fan is, that has to be the worst kind of guy.

• 14:21Speaker 03

Well, so I, so I agree, and I also now, when people, if I, if I meet people and they don't know me, and they're like, oh, you know, who's your team? I have to preface it with, I'm, well, I'm born and raised in Kansas City. Or else they'll think, like, oh, you're a Chiefs fan living in New York, you're just a frontrunner.

• 14:43Adam Friedland?

No one does that, though, even though you guys are good. No one does it, you know that, you know that.

• 14:48Speaker 03

  Well, we, we-

• 14:49Adam Friedland?

  They're just not, I don't know, like-

• 14:51Speaker 03

We took on, you know, the, all of the Swift, Taylor Swift fans, did it.

• 14:55Adam Friedland?

Yeah, so, now you have to pretend it's not baby music? Because you're fucking tight end? You have to like be like, do you love Shake It Off? No, you want to see some guy get his head knocked off? You're not there for fucking Shake It Off. I, dude, I wish I could talk about this stuff on TV.

• 15:12Speaker 03

  Why don't you?

• 15:12Adam Friedland?

I, I'm on the, I do long form, uh, Jewish style, uh, late night talk. I don't know what the fuck this is. The, the cute thing about the, the, uh, the kid, uh, radio station.

• 15:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 15:25Adam Friedland?

I was a very precocious kid myself. And when I was four, I think, I was at a part, like a parents' party with my parents. And I would talk to parents.

• 15:34Speaker 03

Yeah, I did the same thing.

• 15:35Adam Friedland?

People from the Raiders front office. And, uh, I like was yelling at them, like badgering them that they had to fire Art Shell.

• 15:43Speaker 03

  So I, I.

• 15:44Adam Friedland?

I think I heard my dad say it, you know?

• 15:46Speaker 03

When I was ten, I happened to, like, I was somewhere and my, one of my mom's friends said, "Hey, that guy is the president of the Miami Dolphins." And I wa-

• 16:05Adam Friedland?

  Pilinga?

• 16:06Speaker 03

No, I think it was, I think it, I don't really remember.

• 16:09Adam Friedland?

  What is it?

• 16:09Speaker 03

Wayne Hizinga is who it was at the time.

• 16:12Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 16:13Speaker 03

And I walked over to him and I was like, "I just want to let you know, hiring Jimmy Johnson's the greatest move you've ever made."

• 16:20Adam Friedland?

  Fuck it, of course.

• 16:21Speaker 03

Right, like, and so, yeah, so it's very similar to.

• 16:25Adam Friedland?

Yeah, at ten, you're like, "Yo, he's, he's leaving the Canes and he's coming to the big leagues."

• 16:29Speaker 03

Well, no, he had just left the Cowboys.

• 16:31Adam Friedland?

Oh, he came after, that's right.

• 16:32Speaker 03

Yeah, the Cat, once he, yeah, once Jerry and him fell out.

• 16:36Adam Friedland?

Dude, your wife likes, like, these kind of car- you have to be the most bored, unless you like it.

• 16:41Speaker 03

  No, she's-

• 16:42Adam Friedland?

How boring is it? My, when my girlfriend says, "Oh, did your team lose?" And I have to be like, "Did my team lose?" And I'm like, my feelings are hurt because I care about, like, men with great bodies. I just, as I, I realized as an adult that we, we shouldn't be wearing, uh, jerseys.

• 17:00Speaker 03

  No, of course.

• 17:01Adam Friedland?

I can't be wearing a man's name on my, on my shirt.

• 17:03Speaker 03

  Yeah, I think there is.

• 17:05Adam Friedland?

We came up with rules, actually, in the office.

• 17:07Speaker 03

  Oh, can I hear them?

• 17:08Adam Friedland?

Uh, if you're, sorry, if you're white, you, uh, not past thirteen. If you're, if you're, um, if you're black, like, do, do your thing, um.

• 17:22Adam Friedland?

And if you're, no, and if you're Mexican, you know, come on, you're the real.

• 17:27Speaker 03

  So I think.

• 17:28Adam Friedland?

Pretty much like a white guy can't wear a jersey past 13.

• 17:32Speaker 03

Here is the, there are to me, a couple of exceptions. I'm not a hockey fan.

• 17:36Adam Friedland?

  A throwback.

• 17:37Speaker 03

  I think hockey sweaters.

• 17:38Adam Friedland?

  They look so good.

• 17:39Speaker 03

Just like, look like an awesome.

• 17:40Adam Friedland?

  They look so good.

• 17:41Speaker 03

Outfit, almost. And I think, baseball jerseys, two baseball games.

• 17:49Adam Friedland?

To the, I, I never, I never, when my team's playing, I can't wear the jersey. I'm very superstitious.

• 17:55Speaker 03

  Clearly.

• 17:56Adam Friedland?

I can't touch the jersey, in fact.

• 17:58Speaker 03

  Really?

• 17:58Adam Friedland?

Yeah, and I'm primarily, at this point, into soccer, and.

• 18:03Speaker 03

  Who's your team?

• 18:03Adam Friedland?

  Arsenal team.

• 18:04Speaker 03

Oh, I was gonna, just because they're in first place?

• 18:06Adam Friedland?

No, it's been 20 years of hell.

• 18:08Speaker 03

Well, I mean, yeah, but right now, you're a fan, they're in first place.

• 18:12Adam Friedland?

  No, you don't.

• 18:13Speaker 03

  I'm just fucking with you.

• 18:14Adam Friedland?

  It's really.

• 18:15Speaker 03

My buddy, this is gonna sound shitty, nevermind.

• 18:18Adam Friedland?

It means so much, and it's ridiculous.

• 18:21Speaker 03

So our, the guy who does stats for the TV show, this great kid named Josh, he's a diehard Arsenal fan.

• 18:28Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, he doesn't know like me.

• 18:30Speaker 03

The, I mean, I think he probably knows a lot.

• 18:32Adam Friedland?

  The mayor knows ball.

• 18:34Speaker 03

The mayor of New York City?

• 18:35Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, Zora.

• 18:37Speaker 03

  Oh, I would buy that.

• 18:38Adam Friedland?

Well, I met him, like, before the election, and we were talking about our worst, most humiliating losses.

• 18:43Speaker 03

  For Arsenal?

• 18:44Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 18:44Speaker 03

  Is his team Arsenal?

• 18:45Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 18:45Speaker 03

  Oh, okay.

• 18:46Adam Friedland?

  He knows.

• 18:47Speaker 03

The, I play, I play cards with a guy, who is.

• 18:51Adam Friedland?

Come on, you can't be talking about that.

• 18:52Speaker 03

  What?

• 18:53Adam Friedland?

  Cards, dude.

• 18:54Speaker 03

Why can't I be talking about cards?

• 18:56Adam Friedland?

It's a big, you're gonna get in trouble.

• 18:58Speaker 03

  I'm not.

• 18:59Adam Friedland?

I don't wanna see you locked up, man.

• 19:00Speaker 03

  I play in legal games.

• 19:01Adam Friedland?

You play, what do you mean, legal games?

• 19:03Speaker 03

So this is what nobody understands about poker. If all of us in this room agreed to play in a card game, we could play for $10 a man.

• 19:10Adam Friedland?

But you don't wanna play with us, you wanna play with cool guys in the league.

• 19:13Speaker 03

I understand, but just hear me out. Or a million dollars a man, and that's totally legal.

• 19:18Adam Friedland?

I play you in a million dollars, yeah?

• 19:20Speaker 03

  Okay, let's do it.

• 19:22Adam Friedland?

I'm gonna vanquish you on sports takes after this.

• 19:24Speaker 03

Okay, but no, the reason I was saying that, this guy, he's a diehard sports fan, who lives in New York City, has the two best courtside Knicks seats in the building, right next to Mike Brown now, not Thibodeau, and has a box at Arsenal that he just goes to for every home game.

• 19:45Adam Friedland?

  The fuck, bro?

• 19:45Speaker 03

Yeah. I should introduce you guys.

• 19:47Adam Friedland?

This guy, I don't even like him, but he just knows at the same level and we talk every day about this. I, the amount that I care, like if my girlfriend knew, she would like, she would leave me.

• 19:57Speaker 03

Are you in a bad mood all week if they lose?

• 20:00Adam Friedland?

What happens is this, you get the games in the morning?

• 20:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:03Adam Friedland?

Right? And so it's like a Saturday morning, you're a little bit hungover, your girlfriend's still in bed, and you go to the living room and you're sitting there and they, they just, they ruin you before your weekend starts.

• 20:14Speaker 03

  So...

• 20:14Adam Friedland?

It's the, the saying is, it's the hope that kills you.

• 20:17Speaker 03

So, yeah, listen, I've been, obviously the Chiefs have been very good the last half decade. This year's been tough.

• 20:23Adam Friedland?

Does it feel worse and worse each time?

• 20:25Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 20:26Adam Friedland?

It doesn't feel, each chip, each chip like, doesn't hit as heavy, right?

• 20:31Speaker 03

Uh, yeah, well, yeah, nothing will ever match the first one. But the, being a football fan and having your team lose, it doesn't ruin your weekend, but like, we're doing this on a Friday.

• 20:42Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 20:43Speaker 03

Yesterday was the first day that I was not in a depression based on the Chiefs Broncos game. Like, like...

• 20:51Adam Friedland?

Who's the coolest guy on the Chiefs?

• 20:53Speaker 03

The coolest guy on the Chiefs? I mean, I'm, I'm buddies with Patrick, so I like, I would say him. Travis, Travis certainly had that mantle. Travis has, you know, Travis has become so famous, he has to be

• 21:07Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 21:08Speaker 03

  Kind of more careful now.

• 21:09Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, he, he fell off, yeah.

• 21:11Speaker 03

No, I didn't say he fell off.

• 21:12Adam Friedland?

I think, I agree. You're saying that this guy fell off.

• 21:14Speaker 03

I didn't say he fell off. He has to be...

• 21:16Adam Friedland?

By far, the coolest guy on your team is Andy.

• 21:18Speaker 03

Well, he's not on the team, but yes.

• 21:20Adam Friedland?

Yeah, but there's, he's the coolest guy in that vicinity. Everyone else is a real dorkus. I mean it.

• 21:26Speaker 03

  Chris Jones is pretty cool.

• 21:27Adam Friedland?

I, I saw him at a restaurant and like, it's one of the most massive people I've ever seen in my entire life.

• 21:32Speaker 03

Did you see him run the 40 at the combine?

• 21:35Adam Friedland?

No, not, not at a restaurant with my parents.

• 21:37Speaker 03

I understand, but this is funny for you.

• 21:39Adam Friedland?

  Oh, his penis fell out.

• 21:40Speaker 03

  There you go.

• 21:41Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. I never miss a penis sports thing.

• 21:44Speaker 03

  I imagine.

• 21:44Adam Friedland?

When Bron's dick came out, everyone, everyone relaxed. Everyone was chill about it.

• 21:51Speaker 03

  When did that happen?

• 21:52Adam Friedland?

Before a finals game. He was adjusting his shorts and we saw his dick like uh they How do you not know you're in the media?

• 22:00Speaker 03

I I did not know that.

• 22:01Adam Friedland?

You're in the fucking mainstream fake news media.

• 22:04Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 22:05Adam Friedland?

  And I'm

• 22:07Adam Friedland?

You didn't know that? He's your favorite guy.

• 22:09Speaker 03

He is my favorite player of all time.

• 22:10Adam Friedland?

Are you like stoked? Are you stoked about it?

• 22:12Speaker 03

  Stoked about what?

• 22:13Adam Friedland?

That there's a LeBron. Come on, bro.

• 22:20Adam Friedland?

  So you went Fox 2016?

• 22:23Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 22:23Adam Friedland?

How have you? You've been in TV for nine years?

• 22:27Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 22:28Adam Friedland?

Have you enjoyed it? What's the vibe at Fox? Is it like more Republican sports or?

• 22:32Speaker 03

No, it's so it's super. Listen, it is super siloed. Like the Fox Sports were owned by the same people. But Fox Sports is, I've never, I've been doing it for nine years. I'm pretty openly liberal guy. I've never had, I think one of my most famous things ever was right when the show started. Some impassioned Kaepernick stuff and I never.

• 22:54Adam Friedland?

How are you the only guy? How are you like one of the, it's like?

• 22:58Speaker 03

  You want to know something?

• 22:59Adam Friedland?

  It's so bizarre to me.

• 23:00Speaker 03

  I'll tell you.

• 23:01Adam Friedland?

You just caught the easiest ones.

• 23:03Speaker 03

  What do you mean?

• 23:04Adam Friedland?

He took a knee and he's like, what the fuck did he do wrong?

• 23:07Speaker 03

  Of course.

• 23:08Adam Friedland?

And then like LeBron James is the best basketball player?

• 23:11Speaker 03

Oh, you mean, oh, that, yes.

• 23:12Adam Friedland?

You just filled vacancies there where I'm like, they were just there.

• 23:15Speaker 03

They were just there. Everyone, and then my hometown team becomes the greatest football team ever. I have become very lucky.

• 23:21Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 23:22Speaker 03

I have, I'm very lucky that somehow.

• 23:24Adam Friedland?

How stupid are the other guys doing this?

• 23:26Speaker 03

Well, that's, again, I love a lot of my.

• 23:29Adam Friedland?

  Really? They must be morons.

• 23:31Speaker 03

I'm not going to say everyone's a moron, but I will say that I, it is.

• 23:35Adam Friedland?

You and Skip are the only smart people.

• 23:39Adam Friedland?

How's he doing? You checking on him?

• 23:41Speaker 03

  I've not.

• 23:42Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 23:42Speaker 03

  He and I.

• 23:43Adam Friedland?

It's a, listen, it's wrong, but that one and a half million dollars. Like for, for someone to say, no, I won't have sex with you for a million and a half dollars. He's got, that really has to hurt your feelings. Skip must be so like, he's like, what's, I'm that repulsive. A million, would like, okay, would you have sex with, your wife is here, I'm sure she would say go. For a million and a half dollars, would you let Skip crack?

• 24:12Adam Friedland?

I'm sorry, I would, it must be, listen, it's wrong, he shouldn't do that in a workplace. I'm not defending Skip, but walking away, he must be, just, he must be hurting. And I'm not saying you should check in, but maybe we should call him right now and see.

• 24:32Adam Friedland?

I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Would you tell him, if it was on the table still, if Skip was like, alright Nick, you're second, you're ranked second, would you be like, yeah? He would get you something so nice. A million and a half dollars? I would let him do whatever he wants to me. You're not gonna be gay the rest, I'm like, it doesn't make you gay, it's me. Sorry, I'm on a rant right now. And I should be doing this on Fox Sports One.

• 25:02Adam Friedland?

What about, have you checked in on Unc?

• 25:05Speaker 03

  The-

• 25:05Adam Friedland?

This squad is having a rough-

• 25:07Speaker 03

So, I, listen, I have been, the, I moved to New York, I got hired by Fox in 2016. And then I, the show started in New York in 2017, so I never, those, I never really was on campus with those guys. So they were colleagues, but I don't know them like-

• 25:24Adam Friedland?

They must have been so funny, to see them at, like, the office?

• 25:28Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 25:28Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 25:29Speaker 03

  I would have-

• 25:29Adam Friedland?

Come on now, Skip. Yeah, they're, do they have arguments off?

• 25:34Adam Friedland?

Dude, I mean, I'm saying, it's just that they were box office for a while. They kind of, it kind of, they found something there.

• 25:42Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 25:43Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 25:43Speaker 03

That, yeah, that show, that show, Skip and Shannon at its peak was one of the greatest sports television shows of all time. It was perfect.

• 25:51Adam Friedland?

And it's just like, are there bad faith takes? Are some guys bullshitting?

• 25:56Speaker 03

  Some guys, a hundred percent.

• 25:58Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, like-

• 25:59Speaker 03

  And you can tell.

• 25:59Adam Friedland?

Skip doesn't think LeBron is that bad.

• 26:01Speaker 03

  No, see, I don't think Skip's bullshitting.

• 26:03Adam Friedland?

  Why does he hate LeBron?

• 26:04Speaker 03

  That, you know, that-

• 26:05Adam Friedland?

  It's weird.

• 26:06Speaker 03

That one is a weird one.

• 26:07Adam Friedland?

  It's like perverse, in fact.

• 26:08Speaker 03

  It's-

• 26:09Adam Friedland?

It makes sense that Stephen A, why Stephen A's doing-

• 26:12Speaker 03

Yeah, Stephen A's mad that LeBron won't pay him attention. That's what it is.

• 26:15Adam Friedland?

No, it's kind of maybe someone's-

• 26:19Adam Friedland?

Okay. Without naming names. Does Mike? Does he have influence?

• 26:27Speaker 03

Oh, you mean the fact that Stephen A. and Mike are buddies?

• 26:31Adam Friedland?

  I feel like-

• 26:32Speaker 03

  Yeah, of course, obviously.

• 26:33Adam Friedland?

Mike is at the crib, North Carolina, hitting tequila, and he's like, "Go fuck with Bron a little bit." Don't you think? A little bit.

• 26:41Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:42Adam Friedland?

He's been making his life hell for 22 years.

• 26:44Speaker 03

Yeah. Yeah, I mean, that's, that's, I think there is-

• 26:48Adam Friedland?

I'm a Kobe fan, too. But it's so obvious to me.

• 26:51Speaker 03

It is, and, well, I think there's a lot of, I think there's a lot there, but I think you, some of the most ardent either Bron critics or MJ sycophants are also texting with MJ. I do think that's something.

• 27:08Adam Friedland?

Okay, so for our audience that's not familiar with what you do, how would you describe your job? I think we should, obviously, he's a sports pundit.

• 27:16Speaker 03

I mean, I'm a, what they call, they call me an opinionist. I'm a sports talk show host. And when people-

• 27:22Adam Friedland?

  Pundit?

• 27:23Speaker 03

  Yeah, pundit? I don't know.

• 27:24Adam Friedland?

  Or journalist?

• 27:25Speaker 03

When people ask me, I'm definitely not a journalist.

• 27:28Adam Friedland?

  Really? Why?

• 27:29Speaker 03

  Because I don't practice journalism.

• 27:31Adam Friedland?

  Oh, you don't snitch?

• 27:32Speaker 03

No, that, no, that's, I just don't, I'm not out there like reporting on stories and stuff. When people ask me what I do, I say I'm one of those people that argues about sports on TV.

• 27:42Adam Friedland?

  So is I.

• 27:43Speaker 03

  That's what I do.

• 27:43Adam Friedland?

I mean, it's such, in concept, it's such a funny concept, right? And I think it really comes from Mike, right? It comes from Mike the Mad Dog. I think they're the genesis of all this.

• 27:51Speaker 03

  Hundred percent.

• 27:51Adam Friedland?

The concept, the loose concept of two men at a table having a point-counterpoint, like-

• 27:57Speaker 03

Let's do it. You really want to argue, so let's just pretend.

• 28:00Adam Friedland?

No, I kind of want to ask you, but I'm more interested in like how, what the ecosystem is nowadays, because, I mean, like, okay, you came in nine years ago. Bron was what, in his 13th season?

• 28:11Speaker 03

Yeah, I mean, I started at Fox three months before the 3-1 comeback against Golden State. And I looked around, and so like-

• 28:21Adam Friedland?

  The block?

• 28:21Speaker 03

The, three months before the block. Um, and-

• 28:26Adam Friedland?

  He's a smart guy.

• 28:27Speaker 03

  The-

• 28:27Adam Friedland?

  25%, right?

• 28:28Speaker 03

25% what? A smart, oh, oh, jeez.

• 28:33Adam Friedland?

  Dude, as businessman, businessman.

• 28:35Speaker 03

What would I be? What would I be? My mom's grandfather was Jewish.

• 28:39Adam Friedland?

  Oh, yeah.

• 28:39Speaker 03

  So is that 25?

• 28:41Adam Friedland?

I mean, you feeling LeBron James is good at basketball vacancies.

• 28:44Speaker 03

Well, so that's the, that was the unbelievable, that was the unbelievable thing. So he was, Bron and I are the same high school class. I came from, Kansas City doesn't have an NBA team.

• 28:53Adam Friedland?

You said same high school class?

• 28:54Speaker 03

Like, so there's a reason I'm saying this.

• 28:56Adam Friedland?

  But he's in Ohio.

• 28:57Speaker 03

No, I got it. But just listen to me for a second.

• 28:59Adam Friedland?

  You're a, oh, you're a best friend.

• 29:01Speaker 03

So in, no, but so in high school, me and my basketball teammates would watch the St. Vincent-St. Mary's games when they're on TV because they're so fucking cool.

• 29:09Adam Friedland?

  I saw them at AAU.

• 29:10Speaker 03

This guy, right. We thought, like, this guy is our age.

• 29:13Adam Friedland?

  Crazy.

• 29:13Speaker 03

And Kansas City didn't have a team.

• 29:15Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 29:15Speaker 03

So I was just like, you know what? Wherever that guy goes, that's gonna be, he's my team.

• 29:19Adam Friedland?

There was no high school basketball in Kansas City?

• 29:21Speaker 03

No, we didn't have an NBA team.

• 29:22Adam Friedland?

  Oh, okay.

• 29:23Speaker 03

And so I was like, that's, I didn't have, I was unaffiliated from NBA fandom.

• 29:26Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 29:27Speaker 03

So LeBron was always my favorite player. And then I get on national TV and everyone is, the argument people are having is, one day will he pass Michael Jordan? And that's like as far as anyone will go. Like, the, the third rail was, he might one day be able to be as good as him. And then I was on TV during the 3-1 comeback, the greatest three-game stretch in the history of the sport, 41-16 and 7, 41-8 and 11, and then 29-point triple-double with the greatest defensive play ever.

• 29:58Adam Friedland?

  Oh, yeah.

• 29:59Speaker 03

And I, the next day on TV, I said, he just passed him. It's over.

• 30:02Adam Friedland?

The block was his moment in his career. That was his moment.

• 30:05Speaker 03

And, and he's, I mean, that was 10 years ago.

• 30:08Adam Friedland?

Jordan had the, the shot, right, over Brian Russell. I mean, that's like kind of their, kind of analogs.

• 30:14Speaker 03

Yes, they each have their moments. Luckily Bron didn't have to push off. But, uh...

• 30:18Adam Friedland?

Yeah, they were playing against truck drivers.

• 30:20Speaker 03

And so, well, that's a little overstated.

• 30:22Adam Friedland?

  They're so good right now.

• 30:23Speaker 03

They're certainly, they're so much better than previous eras. But everybody, you just play in the era you're in. But to your point, it was remarkable that no, that that corner was unguarded. That like, hey, just say the guy who's obviously the greatest player ever is the greatest player ever, and I became famous for it.

• 30:44Adam Friedland?

  So why?

• 30:45Speaker 03

  I, I think...

• 30:46Adam Friedland?

Why isn't everyone the LeBron guy? Right?

• 30:48Speaker 03

I think because people are, I think there's a lot of, a lot of the most influential media folks. A lot of their legacies are tied to the Jordan era Bulls. And so they are very protective of that.

• 31:02Adam Friedland?

  We watched that as kids.

• 31:03Speaker 03

Yeah, but we were, we were very young. It's like, what's your favorite music?

• 31:07Adam Friedland?

  Uh, pretty much eclectic.

• 31:09Speaker 03

But like if you, the, for a lot of people, their, their favorite song is like the first, one of the first songs they listened to the first time they were driving their own car. And I think there's a lot of media folks that the greatest era of sports is the era when I broke into sports broadcasting that was going on.

• 31:28Adam Friedland?

But they're all from Boston. It doesn't compute.

• 31:31Speaker 03

  Yeah, but so.

• 31:32Adam Friedland?

There's obviously a nostalgia factor, but like also there might just be, there might be like, do you think the media has elevated this like goat debate? Right? Like.

• 31:42Speaker 03

  I think I have.

• 31:43Adam Friedland?

But like, people like, uh, do you think, to some extent, you've kind of been lucky that like LeBron is like, uh, you know, like you're doing the right thing. I'm not saying like you're, this is like disingenuous, but you've benefited from like LeBron getting pummeled, you know, but.

• 32:00Speaker 03

Oh, 100%. The fact that it is, the fact that it was controversial to say the greatest high, the greatest prospect ever, who has played, has all of the youngest ever due records and oldest ever due records, who had, who has every record imaginable, that it's still controversial to be like, he's the best, has been hugely beneficial for me. It would be.

• 32:24Adam Friedland?

But why is it uniformly, it was like no, there are guys that weren't like nostalgic for the Bulls championship. Like is it, is it personality driven?

• 32:33Speaker 03

I mean, I think that, so here's, again, this might be too inside sports for your viewers.

• 32:40Adam Friedland?

  No, no, I know.

• 32:40Speaker 03

I, the, so I have a theory that if Jordan never.

• 32:44Adam Friedland?

I have a lot of theories.

• 32:45Speaker 03

  If Jordan never existed.

• 32:48Speaker 03

And the greatest player, the universally accepted greatest player of all time was Kareem. Because that's who it would have been.

• 32:53Adam Friedland?

I know what you're gonna say. Jordan never existed, 9/11 wouldn't have been, yeah, right.

• 32:57Speaker 03

Uh, than, a guy like Tim Duncan would be in the GOAT debate. Because what people were do- what people turned the GOAT debate into was not who's the greatest player ever. It's who reminds me of Michael Jordan the most. Which is why Kobe is probably a touch, a touch historically overrated. Because he is the most similar to Michael Jordan.

• 33:24Adam Friedland?

  Not today, Sid.

• 33:25Speaker 03

But I'm just, like, like if Magic was considered the GOAT.

• 33:29Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 33:29Speaker 03

Then no one would argue that LeBron was, because LeBron is a better Magic.

• 33:33Adam Friedland?

  Right.

• 33:34Speaker 03

But because Mike was considered the GOAT, people elevated Kobe past a guy like Tim Duncan, who was just objectively better than him.

• 33:40Adam Friedland?

  They said 1B, that's right?

• 33:42Speaker 03

  Exactly, and that's crazy.

• 33:44Adam Friedland?

So you're saying that he benefited from Michael?

• 33:46Speaker 03

I'm saying that instead of the argument being-

• 33:49Adam Friedland?

  LeBron hasn't benefited from it.

• 33:49Speaker 03

  Ri- right.

• 33:50Adam Friedland?

  I don't know.

• 33:51Speaker 03

Instead of the question being, who's the greatest basketball player of all time? People asked that question, but what they were really asking is, who's the most similar to Michael Jordan? And those are not the same thing.

• 34:01Adam Friedland?

Yeah, I, I, I agree. I, I just think that, um, I think Tim didn't like carry, like a squad.

• 34:07Speaker 03

He didn't have the aura, or the gravitas.

• 34:10Adam Friedland?

He didn't like, uh, he had good players. He had Manu and he had Tom Brady.

• 34:14Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, Kobe only had Shaquille O'Neal.

• 34:16Adam Friedland?

Well, Kobe like, Kobe like the second two, or like the second set.

• 34:21Speaker 03

Right, but what, what hurts, again, what hurts Kobe is the three years in the middle of his prime when he missed the playoffs or lost in round one. Smack dab in the middle of his prime.

• 34:29Adam Friedland?

  With who? Andrew Bynum?

• 34:30Speaker 03

Well, that's the thing, but in the NBA, like, you're supposed to, you know, you just carry guys.

• 34:34Adam Friedland?

He was left alone. And he was, listen, here's the thing about LeBron, okay? Like, he is the beta tester for like, a new type of superstar in the NBA, right? Not, like, Jordan marketed sneakers, right? Now they have to also market their, themselves as human beings, right? And- Let's be Christian for a second.

• 34:55Adam Friedland?

100%, 25%. But I'm still a live and let live Christian, right? Obviously, the first guy to have to do it is gonna be a clumsy adjustment, right?

• 35:05Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 35:06Adam Friedland?

You know, and like, I don't think that that's afforded to LeBron enough, right? And I do think that like, the decision was potentially the first kind of, um, kind of brick, right, in the social media era.

• 35:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 35:21Adam Friedland?

And I think that one year, he just had a rough one because when he lost the Mavs, he just said, "If you don't like me, you're poor," and like, he did that thing.

• 35:30Speaker 03

Yeah. It's the only real, that, that press conference after that finals loss.

• 35:35Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 35:35Speaker 03

In a 25 years in the public eye, it's the only indefensible misstep.

• 35:41Adam Friedland?

The, when he picked up the purse and he had the suit with shorts.

• 35:44Speaker 03

  Well, that-

• 35:44Adam Friedland?

I'm also UTA, Clutch Sports, we're family, I love you, LeBron, I'm so happy you're back. Anyway.

• 35:51Speaker 03

  He actually-

• 35:52Adam Friedland?

The shorts and the suit and the purse.

• 35:53Speaker 03

Well, that was, that was right before the 3-1 comeback.

• 35:56Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 35:57Speaker 03

  That was the same-

• 35:57Adam Friedland?

I know. But he was like, he was like being an-

• 35:59Speaker 03

Yeah, the Tom Ford suits would have been better had they won that game.

• 36:03Adam Friedland?

The worst was the shutter shades, Miami, Miami, and like, the nerd glasses, the D-Wade-

• 36:09Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 36:10Adam Friedland?

I just think that like, LeBron was beloved, we all knew that he was so good, we all knew that those fucking Cavs teams were doo-doo cheeks, right? And like, I don't think he would have been blamed for leaving, right? Potentially, if he went to the Knicks, I think, and did the decision like that, no one would have cared. But there was something about the not, not 2, not 3, not 4, which is like, he's a, he's still like, he's adjusting to a pressure that no one's ever applied to a-

• 36:38Speaker 03

Yeah, I, listen, and I think the, but the, that's the remarkable thing about the guy's career is like, the thing in Miami, or against Dallas, happened. And for, you're asking-

• 36:48Adam Friedland?

That was a sick team, too. That Dirk run was awful.

• 36:51Speaker 03

  Oh, it's probably the-

• 36:52Adam Friedland?

He lost to J.J. Barea, I mean, it was a little rough.

• 36:55Speaker 03

Well, he lost to Dirk Nowitzki.

• 36:56Adam Friedland?

I mean, J.J. Barea was pretty much the-

• 36:58Speaker 03

The, I know that's what the myth is, but it's not true.

• 37:01Adam Friedland?

They say it as a- It's a mean thing to say.

• 37:02Speaker 03

Um, but that, no, that, the, folks, to answer your question of why it's controversial to say he's the greatest, a lot of people decided in that moment, he's ineligible. He'll never be able to overcome it, but that was 14 years, nine finals appearances and

• 37:20Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 37:21Speaker 03

  four championships ago.

• 37:22Adam Friedland?

You, you have his like, number, or like, do you, do you like to?

• 37:26Speaker 03

  Uh, no.

• 37:28Adam Friedland?

Has he ever sent you a selfie or?

• 37:29Speaker 03

  No.

• 37:30Adam Friedland?

No. Has he ever liked Instagram of you?

• 37:32Speaker 03

No, the, I have a good relationship with him, but I don't, I don't text him.

• 37:36Adam Friedland?

I mean, you put on for him. Has he said thank you ever, actually?

• 37:38Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 37:39Adam Friedland?

Yeah, he should, as well he should. But like, what I'm, what I'm saying is this, is like, um, it is a ridiculous standard to hold him to. But what I think is, I don't know, if you get his number, just text him, just be yourself. You're the best basketball player ever.

• 37:54Speaker 03

I think at this point in his career, he is.

• 37:56Adam Friedland?

What is the, the, the decision for a fucking Hennessy? I mean, it's just like, come on, dude, like, don't fucking.

• 38:03Speaker 03

Anybody that was tricked by that fucking Hennessy pre-add is a moron.

• 38:09Adam Friedland?

  Why?

• 38:09Speaker 03

  Cause anybody that thought.

• 38:11Adam Friedland?

  He's 41.

• 38:12Speaker 03

That anybody that thought LeBron was going to announce his retirement at noon on a Tuesday, online. Yeah.

• 38:21Adam Friedland?

What are you, did you, the USSR, the state media? That makes no sense.

• 38:25Speaker 03

  What do you mean?

• 38:25Adam Friedland?

Tuesday is not a retirement ti- day? What does that even mean?

• 38:30Speaker 03

I'll tell you exactly what it means.

• 38:31Adam Friedland?

And anyone that thinks that Tuesday is a retirement day is a moron.

• 38:35Speaker 03

Anybody that, that thought that LeBron.

• 38:39Adam Friedland?

  That's bizarre.

• 38:40Speaker 03

  It's not bizarre at all.

• 38:41Adam Friedland?

No, it's just, it's, he's 41 and we're like, well, how much longer is he gonna go? He's the best basketball player ever.

• 38:46Speaker 03

And he playing. Wondering whether or not he might retire was, does not make you an idiot. Thinking it's gonna be one day notice and I'm gonna do it in the middle of a, uh, middle of a week, middle of a workday as opposed to a major event in prime time.

• 39:00Adam Friedland?

  I don't know.

• 39:01Speaker 03

Doesn't know how the guy's, and so I guess I'm calling you an idiot.

• 39:03Adam Friedland?

So he's never retired on a Tuesday before?

• 39:05Speaker 03

He's not gonna retire at noon on a Tuesday, online.

• 39:08Adam Friedland?

  Who knew that?

• 39:09Speaker 03

  Anybody with a.

• 39:10Adam Friedland?

Literally 90. 9.9% of people don't know that. You're putting off for your boy.

• 39:14Speaker 03

I'm not putting off for my boy.

• 39:16Adam Friedland?

It's just not, it's just not the, it's just not the.

• 39:17Speaker 03

How, let me ask you this. How do you think he will announce I'm gonna retire?

• 39:22Adam Friedland?

I will, okay, uh, he'd probably do, like, the Kobe year was like, the video tributes and like, it was a whole thing.

• 39:28Speaker 03

Yeah, so he would give a.

• 39:29Adam Friedland?

And for me, that was the worst year, and but, and then it was the best sports game I've ever seen in my entire life at the end.

• 39:36Speaker 03

  The 60-point game was unbelievable.

• 39:37Adam Friedland?

It was just the most, I was weeping, like, I called my dad weeping, and, uh, and it was kind of like also, just sorry to get stuck on Kobe, but.

• 39:45Speaker 03

  No, it's great.

• 39:45Adam Friedland?

All of the fucking math nerds that were like, he's inefficient, he's, he just, he, no one saw an inefficient shooting performance for like a 13-win team. They saw a god, they saw like, someone that we thought we'd never see again, and then he came back for one night.

• 40:02Speaker 03

  He channeled it.

• 40:03Adam Friedland?

  And, uh.

• 40:03Speaker 03

It's one of the greatest sports performances ever.

• 40:05Adam Friedland?

I think it is the best sports game I've, uh, yeah, I've ever seen.

• 40:10Speaker 03

  You can just say game.

• 40:11Adam Friedland?

  What?

• 40:11Speaker 03

You don't have to say sports game.

• 40:13Adam Friedland?

Well, there are other types of games, like, girls play games, you know.

• 40:18Speaker 03

I understand, but even if we included that, or do any of those trumpet, or is it, is it your, the best game you've ever seen?

• 40:24Adam Friedland?

You're trying to flex on me in terms of sports game?

• 40:26Speaker 03

  No.

• 40:27Adam Friedland?

I'm saying it in a nerd way because that's how I do interviews. Okay, but going back to like, like, um, it's just like, he doesn't need, he doesn't need to do that just to protect himself, right? He's like, he's already the best basketball player ever, and I do think, it's like, it's similar to KD, right? He's a, he's a, that is a basketball angel, that is a savant, that is an offensive savant, and we got to watch him, and he's, the burner accounts indicated that like, the boys are going into the comments, the boys are checking Reddit.

• 40:58Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 40:58Adam Friedland?

And it's like, um, it's really depressing for me because I'm like, you know, if I had like, uh, let's say a hundred million dollars, like, I wouldn't give a fuck about it, I'd disappear, right?

• 41:07Speaker 03

Don't you think though that that's evidence, maybe you wouldn't? The fact that the people who have it don't, makes, doesn't it make you doubt whether or not if you had it, you would?

• 41:17Adam Friedland?

I'm not judging him for it, I think that it's just like, um, it just. indicates a vulnerability and insecurity when it's like, bro, like, you're the best. You literally are the best.

• 41:27Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 41:28Adam Friedland?

And I think the GOAT debate being perpetuated has, uh, has kind of, uh, kind of perhaps like influenced that. You know, like, people saying that he's not the best basketball player when he's 41 and what is he, 24, 6 and 6 last year?

• 41:43Speaker 03

6th in MVP voting, second team All-NBA in year 22.

• 41:46Adam Friedland?

  What was it, 24, 6 and 6?

• 41:48Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's right.

• 41:49Adam Friedland?

  At 41?

• 41:50Speaker 03

  Well, at 40.

• 41:50Adam Friedland?

And he was a, yeah, but he was like...

• 41:52Speaker 03

Yeah, no, I, listen, it's nobody...

• 41:54Adam Friedland?

  We've never seen this.

• 41:55Speaker 03

  Here's the thing.

• 41:56Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 41:57Speaker 03

It will, people in 40 years won't believe that it was an argument. That it was, like, people will think no...

• 42:07Adam Friedland?

  Happily.

• 42:08Speaker 03

And so, the, that part is unequivocally true, that this is going to age as, you gotta be kidding me. People argued for someone else, like, and...

• 42:19Adam Friedland?

It's like, it's like in Mad Men where they're at a picnic and then they just shake out all their garbage into a field and you're like, oh, they didn't have littering back then. You know what I mean?

• 42:28Speaker 03

That's the only prestige great show that I've never seen. It's not good?

• 42:33Adam Friedland?

It's just fashion. No, no, it's good.

• 42:34Speaker 03

My wife, my wife owns a women's boutique and is a sty- professional stylist.

• 42:39Adam Friedland?

  Do you dress him?

• 42:40Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 42:40Adam Friedland?

Give it up for her. Dude, you are, you, he's, he's a peacock. You have the best, you have some of the best, uh, I think, like, you, that, I think in a debate, I think you dressed like, uh, like, I don't know, Peaky Blinders kind of like...

• 42:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 42:55Adam Friedland?

  Like Atlanta church Peaky Blinders?

• 42:57Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 42:57Adam Friedland?

Is that, I'm sorry, you, you just, it's a powerful move. You're like a sharply dressed man.

• 43:03Speaker 03

Well, I try, listen, there is, I do not have a tr- a face for traditional TV.

• 43:10Adam Friedland?

We wear what they tell us, come on.

• 43:12Speaker 03

No, no, no, right, so my, I have to, I do a lot of things, whether it be the hair, the jewelry, or the clothes, to kind of distract from...

• 43:20Adam Friedland?

No, you're not distracting, it's a flex against the guy you're arguing. Cause you're like, being like a, you're like doing a closing argument at like defense attorney.

• 43:27Speaker 03

Well, I thought you were gonna do it to me.

• 43:28Adam Friedland?

You're like defense attorney of a client who's so guilty. That's what, yeah, yeah.

• 43:33Speaker 03

I, I was worried you were gonna do that to me, cause you, when I walked in, you said you had to go change for the show, but then you just put on a worse t-shirt.

• 43:39Adam Friedland?

Well, this was under my thing. I'm sorry, dude. We've had three interviews in a row.

• 43:46Adam Friedland?

And sometimes it feels like someone's difficulty handling celebrity can cast a shadow over the very reason why they are a celebrity. And, yeah.

• 49:25Speaker 03

  I think that's interesting.

• 49:27Adam Friedland?

Right, and I think that it's like, it's, yeah, I think that people, I think that sports punditry, and you could tell me how, what your experience has been in the last 10 years, has become a lot of celebrity gossipy.

• 49:41Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 49:42Adam Friedland?

And I think it's because we're so interconnected with the, like, the adonis. These gorgeous men, just like, we buy their shirts and we root them.

• 49:54Speaker 03

Listen, what's crazy is... Nothing as far as like the things that do the best on social media or on YouTube.

• 50:04Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 50:04Speaker 03

Are like intersports gossip. Like, like, and sometimes not even involving the athletes. Sometimes it's like this, you know, pundit says this about that pundit. People for some reason love that shit.

• 50:17Adam Friedland?

It's like streamers. Does it feel trashy sometimes?

• 50:21Speaker 03

Yeah, and I think you have to walk a fine line on what you wanna, you know, how seriously you wanna be taken.

• 50:28Adam Friedland?

I think you should go all in on it. The Stephen A. fucking Windhorse LeBron thing was just, it felt like fly. It was, I was locked in on that.

• 50:37Speaker 03

  It was, right.

• 50:38Adam Friedland?

It was yellow journalism. I mean, like, like.

• 50:41Speaker 03

And I, listen, I, I, I don't think, I think Wendy is in a separate category. I think Wendy's one of the most respected guys in the, in the business.

• 50:48Adam Friedland?

  Well, when Bron did that.

• 50:49Speaker 03

  I thought what Bron did.

• 50:50Adam Friedland?

Did you say, uh, then there was one?

• 50:52Speaker 03

  That was.

• 50:54Adam Friedland?

  Did you?

• 50:55Speaker 03

Uh, that's the, I thought Bron taking that shot at Wendy was unnecessary.

• 51:00Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 51:00Speaker 03

I think the, I think everything he has said about, it was weird.

• 51:04Adam Friedland?

You don't have to say it. This guy went to your high school or something, actually, not like you the liar. And then like, you know, he thinks you're awesome and he's like, he's been like, put, like, he's been like, uh, celebrating you for 20 years.

• 51:17Speaker 03

I thought that one was weird. I thought he could have gone harder at Stephen A., but.

• 51:20Adam Friedland?

Yeah, well, first of all, okay, just on a basic moral level, if some guy's shitting on your son constantly and he's a two-way player and he's getting mentioned more than a fu, the fucking MVP like SGA, like, he's a dad and he's gonna be, he's gonna be like, shut the fuck up.

• 51:37Speaker 03

But it also, but it wasn't, it was.

• 51:40Adam Friedland?

That's, he's entirely within his rights.

• 51:42Speaker 03

Of course, but it, it, it's also, that whole thing was, all of it was, in my opinion, misleading. What Bron was so upset about was when Stephen A. Flipped it from criticizing Bronny the player to criticizing Bron the father. When he's like, "I'm pleading with you as a father to stop this farce."

• 52:02Adam Friedland?

That's not the right thing. The being the dad protecting the son is better. That narrative is better.

• 52:07Speaker 03

I understand, but it is what it is.

• 52:09Adam Friedland?

  Don't attack me. That's rough.

• 52:11Speaker 03

  Either way.

• 52:13Adam Friedland?

He's just a two-way player. He's in the G League half the time, the South Bay Lakers. And they're just like, "It's because it's Bron's son and he's just getting all this fucking attention." And plus, he's a real one, kind of, for going to LA. Could you imagine being on a team with your dad? It'd be so annoying. My dad would be fucking, like, just, I would go to Phoenix, get blowjob after blowjob. I wouldn't go on a team with my dad. That sucks. He's a real one for actually doing it. I mean it. I mean that. Yeah. He's like, "I'm gonna, yeah, my dad's gonna like, if I miss something, a shot, like, my dad's gonna be like..."

• 52:50Adam Friedland?

It's annoying. And your dad's the best basketball player ever.

• 52:52Speaker 03

Well, that's the other tough part.

• 52:54Adam Friedland?

So, good on Bronny. But beyond that, it was the first time I didn't, I think it was at the beginning of the administration. It was the first time I just didn't think of Trump and Elon. For a week, I got a vacation.

• 53:06Speaker 03

  Because of LeBron-Stevan A. stuff?

• 53:08Adam Friedland?

Well, because LeBron takes a shot at Wendy, and then I'm like, "That's peculiar." And then, then Stephen A., okay, first off, he said like, "And if you touch me, I will have no choice but to put hands on you." Who are you, who, seriously?

• 53:22Speaker 03

That's the part that was insane.

• 53:24Adam Friedland?

Who are you taking in that?

• 53:25Speaker 03

Well, I mean, that's, I mean, it was such an insane statement. And then like, it was...

• 53:29Adam Friedland?

  But wait, he's 6'9".

• 53:31Speaker 03

He's 6'8". 6'8" the greatest athlete of all time.

• 53:34Adam Friedland?

  What is he talking about?

• 53:34Speaker 03

That, all of it, and then wouldn't, and then Stephen A. wouldn't stop talking about it. He talked about it again right before the season started.

• 53:41Adam Friedland?

The funeral thing is a little bit my fault.

• 53:44Speaker 03

  It's your fault?

• 53:45Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 53:46Speaker 03

  How?

• 53:46Adam Friedland?

I told Pablo, I met him at the Nets game when, right after we got Luka, the Lakers were in town. And we were at a bar, and I was like, I was like, "Why wasn't LeBron at the memorial?" And he's like, "He was." And I was like, "I don't, we didn't see him," right? And then, then he was like, "Yeah, well, his daughter was being born that day." And then that happened, and right before that happened, he texts me, he's like, "I've talked to like 25 people, this is my white whale." And...

• 54:17Speaker 03

So, you're the genesis of that story?

• 54:21Adam Friedland?

I told my dad and he's like, "You fucked up our playoff run, you fucking idiot." I just like, I wanted to know where he was. The other thing is this, these two guys were like, not nice to him. Can you imagine Bron wore 23? He wore 23? And this guy's being a dickhead to him.

• 54:36Speaker 03

  Forever.

• 54:36Adam Friedland?

  Forever.

• 54:38Speaker 03

Jordan's relationship with Bron is really fascinating.

• 54:43Adam Friedland?

Yeah, do you think that Kobe and MJ thought it was soft that he has friends?

• 54:49Adam Friedland?

Really, because they were two guys like, "As a man, you shouldn't have friends." Seriously.

• 54:54Speaker 03

I mean, I haven't thought about it that way, but maybe.

• 54:57Adam Friedland?

Yeah. The other thing was this, is like, Bron was dipped into the river Styx, like, God gave us that human being. Like, those two guys had to become sociopaths to like, achieve their greatness. And like, there was a, there was a dissimilarity, I think.

• 55:13Speaker 03

Well, yeah, I mean, listen, Kobe's path is Jordan's path. And with the exception of like, obviously Kobe's dad obviously played in the NBA. Obviously, all these guys have a lot of physical gifts.

• 55:23Adam Friedland?

  Where did Jordan's dad play?

• 55:25Speaker 03

Not in the NBA. That's why I said with the exception.

• 55:29Adam Friedland?

I'm gonna get killed, he's gonna kill me.

• 55:31Speaker 03

And Bron's path, I would say, is closer to magics, as far as...

• 55:38Adam Friedland?

  Bron's like, he's Wemby, he's a freak of nature.

• 55:42Speaker 03

Maybe that's a better example, Kareem, yeah.

• 55:44Adam Friedland?

Yeah, I mean, I think he was 18 years old, he was already built for the NBA.

• 55:49Speaker 03

Yeah, I mean, at 20, he was the best player in the league.

• 55:52Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, I remember...

• 55:54Speaker 03

  Second in MVP voting.

• 55:56Adam Friedland?

MVP voting is just suckups like you.

• 55:58Speaker 03

  I don't have a vote.

• 55:59Adam Friedland?

Trying to suck up to him.

• 56:00Speaker 03

  I don't have a vote, I'm sure you, I'm sure, I'm sure...

• 56:03Adam Friedland?

  I'm glad you don't, I should vote.

• 56:04Speaker 03

I'm sure when Bron was 20 and Kobe missed the playoffs because he didn't have enough players, you still thought Kobe was better.

• 56:10Adam Friedland?

Evil Kobe. Was that, was that go to you, 81?

• 56:14Speaker 03

The, yeah, that, yes, I mean, or that era. And then the next year when...

• 56:19Adam Friedland?

I was a broad that year.

• 56:20Speaker 03

When you were, you know, crying about Sasha Vujacic and Bron was taken Delonte West to the NBA Finals.

• 56:26Adam Friedland?

Why cry? He was the machine. The machine, the eyebrows?

• 56:31Speaker 03

  Yes, Vujacic was good.

• 56:33Adam Friedland?

The thing is this, like, I'm a Kobe fan, but I accept that LeBron is the GOAT, right? And when we won in the bubble, which is, by the way, was the toughest championship ever.

• 56:43Speaker 03

  Correct.

• 56:43Adam Friedland?

  Right?

• 56:44Speaker 03

And they had home court and they were the team that didn't get to use it.

• 56:47Adam Friedland?

  There's no home, oh, exactly.

• 56:49Speaker 03

That, my point is, they had earned home court and then nobody got home court.

• 56:53Adam Friedland?

And like, it's just, from what I understand, like, it was draining. I mean, we saw Jimmy, that game, he just won single-handedly. You were cooked.

• 57:03Speaker 03

No, I mean, the Clippers fell apart, the Nuggets fell apart. You saw...

• 57:10Adam Friedland?

  AD hit the shot.

• 57:12Speaker 03

Oh, I'm sorry, the Nuggets didn't fall apart, the Clippers fell apart against the Nuggets.

• 57:17Adam Friedland?

I can't believe the Clippers fell apart. I cannot believe it.

• 57:20Speaker 03

It's one of the greatest, and do you know, you know that the fucking Thunder have the Clippers draft pick this coming year?

• 57:29Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 57:29Speaker 03

It might be the fourth pick of the draft.

• 57:31Adam Friedland?

How do they know Shay was good?

• 57:33Speaker 03

Man, I don't know. I mean, everybody thought he was like, oh, he's better than expected. Nobody thought this. Nobody in the world thought this was possible.

• 57:41Adam Friedland?

Yeah. Comparing it to the Luca trade is crazy.

• 57:45Speaker 03

  Oh, no.

• 57:46Adam Friedland?

  That's insane.

• 57:47Speaker 03

No, well, the Luca trade was just a...

• 57:49Adam Friedland?

  Israel, yeah.

• 57:51Speaker 03

  No.

• 57:51Adam Friedland?

That was, Marion Myles, it goes all the way to the top.

• 57:56Speaker 03

  That is one of the...

• 57:57Adam Friedland?

Fox Sports, you can't get this way.

• 57:59Speaker 03

No, that is, that is one of the most frustrating conspiracies, is that the...

• 58:08Adam Friedland?

  It's for the casino?

• 58:09Speaker 03

Yeah, that it's for the casino to move him, or to move it to Vegas, when it was very, very simple. Nico Harrison did not like that there was someone more powerful than him in the organization, so he fucking shit him up.

• 58:22Adam Friedland?

He had a bad attitude, he was a fat boy.

• 58:23Speaker 03

Yeah, but I mean, I don't even think, I think those were his excuses, when in reality was, he was like, as long as Luca's here, I won't really be in charge, he will be.

• 58:32Adam Friedland?

He sold it as a win now?

• 58:33Speaker 03

He sold it as win now, and they're terrible. And now they're gonna trade AD.

• 58:37Adam Friedland?

  I love him.

• 58:40Adam Friedland?

In the bubble, honestly, when we won, I had this thought to myself, doesn't feel the same. And it kinda didn't, because the Lakers, I kinda liked JaVale and Dwight. They were fun.

• 58:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:53Adam Friedland?

But it was a mercenary kind of team, and I kind of thought to myself, like, does it feel like, you know, we had all these like kids, and then we threw them away for AD. I was so happy for AD. Like, when he was like crying, you could tell it meant so much to him.

• 59:06Speaker 03

And I think they would have won again the next year if Bron didn't get hurt.

• 59:09Adam Friedland?

The problem was that they started the season three weeks later, and the organization should have protected their two assets, their two biggest assets. They should have sat out the first half of that season.

• 59:19Speaker 03

Yeah, but I mean, they were, they had the best record in the West when Solomon Hill did the cartwheel into LeBron's ankle, and...

• 59:26Adam Friedland?

There was that, and then AD also went down too.

• 59:27Speaker 03

Well, yeah, but AD's gone down every year of his career, except for the championship year.

• 59:31Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 59:33Speaker 03

Are you being a smartass? I don't know.

• 59:34Adam Friedland?

I don't know, dude. I feel bad for that guy. He seemed like, do you remember Kentucky during that tournament?

• 59:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 59:41Adam Friedland?

I just remember, I was like, this guy is just an absolute comprehensive monster.

• 59:46Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 59:46Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 59:47Speaker 03

I think he's, I think the best prospect, you could argue that from Bron to Wimby, in that timeframe, the single best prospect was Anthony Davis.

• 1:00:00Adam Friedland?

Yeah. Well, your 40-year thing, I have a counterpoint.

• 1:00:04Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 1:00:05Adam Friedland?

They're not gonna care about Bron and MJ.

• 1:00:07Speaker 03

  Because of Wimby?

• 1:00:08Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:09Speaker 03

I don't think he gets there.

• 1:00:10Adam Friedland?

  Why?

• 1:00:11Speaker 03

Because every single player in the history of the league that's 7'5" or taller has just had terrible injuries.

• 1:00:17Adam Friedland?

Yeah, but his body's different, dude.

• 1:00:18Speaker 03

  Really?

• 1:00:18Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, he's not...

• 1:00:19Speaker 03

  What's he doing right now?

• 1:00:21Adam Friedland?

He's not thick. He's not like Greg Oden.

• 1:00:23Speaker 03

Yeah, but neither was, I mean...

• 1:00:25Adam Friedland?

  Who's your favorite body?

• 1:00:26Speaker 03

  Neither was Ralph Sampson.

• 1:00:27Adam Friedland?

Who do you think has the best body out of all the guys?

• 1:00:29Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 1:00:30Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 1:00:30Speaker 03

I don't know. Probably Dwight, right?

• 1:00:33Adam Friedland?

  Dwight?

• 1:00:34Speaker 03

  I don't know, probably.

• 1:00:34Adam Friedland?

  Is he strong?

• 1:00:35Speaker 03

  Yeah, Dwight's like a bodybuilder.

• 1:00:37Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:00:37Speaker 03

But I just don't think Wimby will stay healthy sadly, and so far, that's been true.

• 1:00:42Adam Friedland?

Did Dwight, did Dwight get kinda like, blacklisted a little bit?

• 1:00:46Speaker 03

  I don't think so.

• 1:00:46Adam Friedland?

After that stuff went, now we're doing celebrity gossip.

• 1:00:50Speaker 03

We are now doing celebrity gossip.

• 1:00:51Adam Friedland?

  But he was good still.

• 1:00:53Speaker 03

I mean, he wasn't that good at that point. He played a long time. Dwight played a long time.

• 1:00:57Adam Friedland?

Was it after the championship? How many, where did he go after 2020? I think he went to China.

• 1:01:05Speaker 03

I don't, I think he played with one other year.

• 1:01:08Adam Friedland?

That team was like big and strong.

• 1:01:10Speaker 03

Well, yeah, that team, that team had a lot of, it was, they were built like, um, what's the best comp for that?

• 1:01:17Adam Friedland?

  Um, the. Football team.

• 1:01:20Speaker 03

No, the, they were kind of.

• 1:01:22Adam Friedland?

  Chris Jones's.

• 1:01:23Speaker 03

The, like the 08 Celtics, like just a lot of length.

• 1:01:26Adam Friedland?

  Don't say that.

• 1:01:28Speaker 03

  I don't like Celtics either, but that's.

• 1:01:29Adam Friedland?

They stink. That team also is just, do you think, how do you compare the current era to dead ball? Like, do you think that those competitive, is there competitive parity there?

• 1:01:40Speaker 03

  What do you mean?

• 1:01:41Adam Friedland?

Cause like, uh, everyone that played against Kobe, the impressive thing about Bron is that he transitioned between eras, right?

• 1:01:48Speaker 03

  Multiple eras, yeah.

• 1:01:49Adam Friedland?

Yeah, but like now it's just like Steve Kerr like woken the league. He, you think it is, is wokeness?

• 1:01:56Speaker 03

  What do you mean?

• 1:01:57Adam Friedland?

  The three ball.

• 1:01:58Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:01:58Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. You think it's, it's just utter wokeness?

• 1:02:02Speaker 03

  I don't, I don't.

• 1:02:02Adam Friedland?

But like that era where it was like 87, 83 and like those like Lakers Celtics finals.

• 1:02:10Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 1:02:11Adam Friedland?

Is, were the, was that more difficult? Like, was the rule changes?

• 1:02:15Speaker 03

I think that, I, I, I think that they, it just totally changed the way the sport's played. I don't know if one's more difficult than the other.

• 1:02:25Adam Friedland?

You're just trying to figure out a way to compliment LeBron.

• 1:02:28Speaker 03

  No, I'm not.

• 1:02:28Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, by that answer.

• 1:02:29Speaker 03

I'm not. I, I just, so like the eighties were, prior to the, no, prior to the 2020s, the eighties were the highest scoring decade of the last 50 years.

• 1:02:39Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:40Speaker 03

And then the nineties were the lowest scoring because, and it's all the, it's not, same guys in the eighties and nineties, it's just the rule changes.

• 1:02:46Adam Friedland?

Yeah. I'm like, are my shirts dirty? My girlfriend's out of town right now.

• 1:02:51Speaker 03

Dude, how long have you been with your girlfriend?

• 1:02:52Adam Friedland?

Five and a half years with fiance.

• 1:02:54Speaker 03

See, I was gonna say, yeah, it's about time if it's five and a half years.

• 1:02:57Adam Friedland?

  Fabulous ring.

• 1:02:57Speaker 03

  How'd you propose?

• 1:02:59Adam Friedland?

Oh, I bricked it so bad.

• 1:03:01Speaker 03

  How'd you do it?

• 1:03:02Adam Friedland?

Oh my God. Okay, I was in, so, we got together on New Year's, five, it was gonna be our five year anniversary.

• 1:03:10Speaker 03

So this is 10 months ago.

• 1:03:11Adam Friedland?

I'm just terrible. I mean, does he come up with like plans, like romantic plans? Yeah, he definitely does. Look how romantic of a guy this is. I'm a mess of a guy. So yeah, we, she was going to Mexico City to see a friend. I said, she's like, do you want to come? And so then her friend was like-

• 1:03:27Speaker 03

  So it's New Year's Eve?

• 1:03:28Adam Friedland?

Yeah, her friend was my man on the inside-

• 1:03:29Speaker 03

You might be the first person ever to propose on New Year's Eve.

• 1:03:33Adam Friedland?

Uh, dude, I don't fucking know-

• 1:03:34Speaker 03

Go ahead, I want to hear.

• 1:03:35Adam Friedland?

  Oh, god damn it, dude.

• 1:03:37Speaker 03

  I want to hear.

• 1:03:38Adam Friedland?

What do you, what did he do?

• 1:03:39Speaker 03

She hated it. She hated it.

• 1:03:41Adam Friedland?

  He had a cape?

• 1:03:41Speaker 03

No, she, but I, but it was, she hated it. It was a great plan.

• 1:03:45Adam Friedland?

  Okay, fine.

• 1:03:46Speaker 03

  But go ahead.

• 1:03:47Adam Friedland?

So I'm like, how can I not fuck it up, right? And so I, so I told her friend, I was like, we'll just do like 10, 9, 8, 7, kiss, and then I'll hand her, right? Simple. Like, no way I could fuck it up. And then, that night, my inside man was like way, like trashed by like 9:30. Then the girls were like, let's make a move. And then so I had to, they're like, you're good at directions. And I'm like, oh god. And I was like, then we show up at a place at like 11. Uh, no one's there, it's completely empty. And I was like, you have to find a fucking- And also I ran my mouth to like too many people, so my phone buzzed, buzzed, buzzed, like-

• 1:04:21Speaker 03

  Have you, yeah.

• 1:04:22Adam Friedland?

Her brother hit me up, he's like, you guys are being fucking sus, dude, like, he's like, I know what's going down. I want, like, let me see pics. My family was convinced that I didn't want to include them in this special moment in my life. 25%, that's, that's how they act. Uh, but like, yeah, so then I was like, I told the, her friend, who also, she laughs when she's nervous. So I was like, why are you laughing at me? And then I was like, you have to find a fucking party. I was like, this is my life. And then, so then, she found a party and we went in an Uber and dropped us off. And then I looked, and I was like, where is it? And she's like, it's here. And it was a hospital. Dropped us off at a hospital and then like, we found this place where she was invited.

• 1:05:05Adam Friedland?

And then it was like, uh, eight people around a coffee table. And then, I was like, I'm not gonna fucking propose here. And then some guy was like, you know, the last episode was fire. And I was like, I'm not gonna propose in front of these people. And then like all night, we were trying to find a place. And it was like, I was acting bad. She was like, why have you had such a bad attitude to New Year's? I'm like, I'm great, I feel great. And then like, finally like 3 a.m. we found a place. And it was great. And then there was like, people were, they're playing like cumbia or whatever. It just looked fun, right? And so I get patted down. And then it was cold. You know how they get cold? Sorry. I apologize, that was rude of me. You know how they fucking, they're always cold? Yeah, so she was wearing my jacket,

• 1:05:48Adam Friedland?

and then she got patted down, and then like, the ring was in the inner pocket and they pulled it out. And then I've been, I've been so bad-

• 1:05:55Speaker 03

  The fight!

• 1:05:56Adam Friedland?

I've been so badly behaved that, that I was like, do you, and she was like, and then she said something so sweet? She said something so sweet, I can't believe I'm telling Nick right this, I love you dude.

• 1:06:07Speaker 03

  Thanks, I appreciate it.

• 1:06:10Adam Friedland?

And, uh, she said something so sweet, but like, literally like, it was so emasculating, like my penis went in my body. She was like, she was, she said, "Well, it didn't work out tonight, but like, maybe another time." And I was like, "Yeah, but, maybe another time," and then like, yeah. And then the whole next day, I was like trying, for the first time in my life, you know that, like, um, men, they're supposed to, um, like if you're, you feel terrible about something, you're supposed to not mention it?

• 1:06:38Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:06:38Adam Friedland?

It was the first time I've ever done that, yeah.

• 1:06:40Speaker 03

You just, you just ate it.

• 1:06:42Adam Friedland?

I let my phone die, there was like, fifty mistexts, cause I ran my dumbass mouth to everyone, and then at the end of the day, I was like, "I felt terrible all day." And she's like, "Why don't you just fucking ask me?" And I was like, "I thought I could do a plan, like, just one fucking plan, for the first time in my fucking life." She's like, "No, like, you're terrible at plans, that's why I make all the plans, you call me a micromanager, but you're incapable of plans, that's why you're lucky to be with me." And I was like, "Yeah, you're right, that's so us," you know, and she was like, and then she was like, uh, she's like, "Why don't you just fucking ask me?" And I was like, "Really?" She's like, "Yeah, you think I would've liked that?" And I was like, "It sounded good, I thought girls would like that kinda thing."

• 1:07:23Adam Friedland?

And she was like, "No, she's like, "I don't have like, I'm not like, a dumb bitch." So then I was like, and then she, she took it, and I was weeping.

• 1:07:35Speaker 03

  Sick ring though?

• 1:07:37Adam Friedland?

It's like my, my, my late mother's, and it's a, uh, great, great grandmother, or great grandmothers, yeah, from, uh, back in the day.

• 1:07:45Speaker 03

  That's awesome.

• 1:07:46Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah, yeah, and I was crying, and she was like, "Why are you being so dramatic?" I was like-

• 1:07:50Speaker 03

  You were crying?

• 1:07:51Adam Friedland?

Yeah, so much, yeah, you cried too.

• 1:07:53Speaker 03

  I didn't cry.

• 1:07:53Adam Friedland?

Have you ever cried at sports?

• 1:07:55Speaker 03

Uh, when, yeah, as a kid.

• 1:07:57Adam Friedland?

Not when you got engaged to your queen over here?

• 1:08:00Speaker 03

  Didn't cry. No, I didn't cry.

• 1:08:02Adam Friedland?

I cry a lot. I cried the first Lakers chip with Shaq and Kobe because I'd never seen a team of mine win.

• 1:08:09Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:08:09Adam Friedland?

  I remember I was peeing.

• 1:08:10Speaker 03

Notice how you said Shaq's name first. Um, but uh...

• 1:08:13Adam Friedland?

Shut the fuck up, man. Alright, let's do this dumb thing. What's the 10? What's your 10?

• 1:08:18Speaker 03

  What's my 10?

• 1:08:19Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:08:19Speaker 03

  Players ever?

• 1:08:21Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:21Speaker 03

That's what you want to do?

• 1:08:22Adam Friedland?

We're just talking hoop, but I like...

• 1:08:23Speaker 03

  Okay, that's fine.

• 1:08:23Adam Friedland?

  Hoop is my...

• 1:08:24Speaker 03

In order? In order, that's fine. Bron, Kareem, Jordan, Magic, Russell, Wilt, Duncan, Kobe.

• 1:08:34Adam Friedland?

Why Russell over Wilt? Because of the chips?

• 1:08:36Speaker 03

I mean, he owned him repeatedly.

• 1:08:38Adam Friedland?

Yeah, but then you're playing into the LeBum argument that the chips matter.

• 1:08:43Speaker 03

Well, they were head to head and it's 11 to 2.

• 1:08:47Adam Friedland?

Yeah, but that guy was having so much sex, he was probably tired, yeah.

• 1:08:51Speaker 03

And then, so I, by that math, what, how many did I just name?

• 1:08:55Adam Friedland?

Robert Ori's the second best player, though.

• 1:08:56Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:08:57Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:58Speaker 03

  Again, if you're gonna, no.

• 1:08:59Adam Friedland?

Who else? Who else is up there randomly?

• 1:09:02Speaker 03

Randomly up there? That I have higher than others?

• 1:09:05Adam Friedland?

Bill Rut- No, I'm saying championships.

• 1:09:08Speaker 03

  Oh, I mean, Russell's teammates.

• 1:09:10Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:10Speaker 03

  Um, Havil Chek.

• 1:09:11Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:14Speaker 03

  And...

• 1:09:14Adam Friedland?

Dude, that, it wasn't basketball, dude. You see what they're doing? They're like...

• 1:09:20Speaker 03

I understand, but what do you, what do you want them to do?

• 1:09:22Adam Friedland?

  I'm just saying like...

• 1:09:23Speaker 03

We can't like pretend like they didn't exist.

• 1:09:25Adam Friedland?

Dante DiVincenzo just murders everyone there. That was a good pull, actually. Dante DiVincenzo was a good one.

• 1:09:32Speaker 03

Are you just saying it because also he'd be allowed to play because he was white?

• 1:09:35Adam Friedland?

Well, they let, in Boston, they let Bill, yeah.

• 1:09:38Speaker 03

Uh, yeah, but there's limitations on how many black guys you could have.

• 1:09:42Adam Friedland?

Well, beyond that, it was a racist stadium.

• 1:09:44Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah. Oh, horrible.

• 1:09:45Adam Friedland?

Kyrie also, they, they, they're still about that.

• 1:09:51Speaker 03

  It's a well-earned reputation.

• 1:09:53Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The green hand.

• 1:09:55Speaker 03

But then, and then, so then after...

• 1:09:58Adam Friedland?

Where's Kobe? What number is Kobe? Fucking asshole.

• 1:10:01Speaker 03

Bron, Kareem, Michael, Magic, Russell, Wilt, Duncan, Kobe. So Kobe's eight, Bird's nine, and then 10, 11, 12 gets hard because it's Shaq, Akeem, Joker and Steph are all fighting for that 10th spot.

• 1:10:17Adam Friedland?

You hate Joker though, you don't like him.

• 1:10:18Speaker 03

No, I just didn't believe in him. I was just late to the party. I was wrong about him.

• 1:10:21Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:10:22Speaker 03

  That's all.

• 1:10:22Adam Friedland?

Yeah. What is it like, we like, we argue about sports, people, just like someone not knowing the future.

• 1:10:31Speaker 03

Yeah, it's like you hate him.

• 1:10:32Adam Friedland?

Like, who cares? Yeah, you're like, yeah, Nikola Jokic was a fat guy from, from the Balkans, and then he ended up being incredible.

• 1:10:41Speaker 03

One of the greatest players of all time.

• 1:10:43Adam Friedland?

How are you supposed to know? But although you, you, Caleb Williams.

• 1:10:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:10:47Adam Friedland?

You said before you ever played, you're like, he will play in the Super Bowl this year?

• 1:10:51Speaker 03

Yeah, I picked him as a rookie.

• 1:10:52Adam Friedland?

  That's a, that's a what?

• 1:10:52Speaker 03

  That's a whiff.

• 1:10:53Adam Friedland?

Did you feel like, was your blood coursing through your veins?

• 1:10:57Speaker 03

  In my defense.

• 1:10:58Adam Friedland?

  You're like, I have a new boy.

• 1:10:59Speaker 03

So let me ask you, let me ask you this.

• 1:11:01Adam Friedland?

  I'm buying in.

• 1:11:02Speaker 03

Uh, so let me ask you this. So I predicted that Caleb Williams, as a rookie, would play in the Super Bowl.

• 1:11:09Adam Friedland?

  Is he good?

• 1:11:09Speaker 03

  That.

• 1:11:10Adam Friedland?

He has nail polish, that's what I know.

• 1:11:12Speaker 03

Yeah, his mom's a nail tech. It's like a bonding thing between them.

• 1:11:15Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. People are rude to him about it, though.

• 1:11:18Speaker 03

  No, yeah, people are.

• 1:11:19Adam Friedland?

  Who cares?

• 1:11:20Speaker 03

I, that apart, I totally agree. Yeah, people think he's too effeminate. I don't think that fucking makes sense.

• 1:11:25Adam Friedland?

They do that to the Sixers guy, too. Jared.

• 1:11:28Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah, the TikToker.

• 1:11:29Adam Friedland?

But he does TikTokers, and that is where I draw the line. Just stop it.

• 1:11:33Speaker 03

  Well, that just seems childish.

• 1:11:35Adam Friedland?

Yeah, why is he doing that?

• 1:11:36Speaker 03

His, his TikToks just seem very childish, but I mean, he's a kid, I guess.

• 1:11:40Adam Friedland?

Your boy's brother, he loves TikTok also.

• 1:11:42Speaker 03

  Oh, I know.

• 1:11:43Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:11:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:11:44Adam Friedland?

Do you think that's why he gets crap? Because of the, like, it's not because, obviously, what's the argument? You're like, Mahomes is really good. What is the argument that you're getting back there?

• 1:11:53Speaker 03

Oh, I mean, it's all bullshit.

• 1:11:56Adam Friedland?

It's because he what? He talks like Kermit the Frog?

• 1:11:58Speaker 03

No, I mean, it's just, he's just one, he's won too much. And so.

• 1:12:03Adam Friedland?

  Doesn't that make him good?

• 1:12:04Speaker 03

No, of course, but I'm saying because of that, he has a lot of people that don't like him.

• 1:12:07Adam Friedland?

So you just talk to people that are like 35 IQ all day long about sports?

• 1:12:13Speaker 03

No, I think the reason the TV show I do is good is because Brew and Wilds are both really sharp guys, but to your point earlier, like the barrier for entry of being like a smart sports TV guy is not very high.

• 1:12:27Adam Friedland?

I'm jealous. I mean, I'm not even a LeBron stan, but if I could have seen that there was a vacancy there.

• 1:12:33Speaker 03

You would have jumped in on it.

• 1:12:34Adam Friedland?

  I mean, it's brilliant business.

• 1:12:35Speaker 03

I appreciate it. And then, yeah, the, I mean, the things I'm most known for are being big supporters of the guy, the two guys who are gonna go down in the greatest in the history of their sports.

• 1:12:46Adam Friedland?

You think he's better than Brady?

• 1:12:47Speaker 03

  Yeah, I do.

• 1:12:48Adam Friedland?

  Right. Why is that?

• 1:12:50Speaker 03

Because he was great, he was individually great immediately, and Tom wasn't. And...

• 1:12:57Adam Friedland?

No, he was. He came in for Drew Bledsoe.

• 1:12:59Speaker 03

Right, but Tom, so Tom was considered those first, you remember, everybody thought Peyton Manning's the better quarterback, but Tom Brady's clutch for like the first decade. And it wasn't really until Brady got moss and they had those crazy stats. Mahomes won an MVP, won league MVP his first year as a starter. So he was, and he's always, and he's won amazingly at a higher level than Brady through the limited time.

• 1:13:24Adam Friedland?

And he went to a party too with the, and they had chain smokers, DJ Khaled. Did you see that clip?

• 1:13:30Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:13:31Adam Friedland?

So funny. I'll show you. He's like, "Yeah, we went to a hotel, we were partying, they had chain smokers, DJ Khaled." Yeah, dude. He's awesome. I mean...

• 1:13:41Speaker 03

  What? But hold on.

• 1:13:42Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, like, people like...

• 1:13:43Speaker 05

Started off, they actually do a nice party for us at the hotel. The chain smokers came through, DJ Khaled came through. I had the goddamn Spoonman from the Soundgarden videos coming to my show. No way. Oh, yeah. Talking to six real sparring, two torches, three whole pigs, fucking shit loads of...

• 1:13:59Adam Friedland?

Chain smokers came through, DJ Khaled. That's your boy, dude. Tell him I'm nice.

• 1:14:04Speaker 03

  I will.

• 1:14:05Adam Friedland?

Tell him I'm nice. But, whatever.

• 1:14:09Speaker 03

I'll text him. Adam Friedland is nice and like.

• 1:14:11Adam Friedland?

I'm kind of like, I will tell you after the show, but I kind of have involvement with the Kelsey thing.

• 1:14:18Speaker 03

  Oh, tell us now.

• 1:14:20Adam Friedland?

No, no. They know, the audience knows.

• 1:14:22Speaker 03

  Oh, okay.

• 1:14:23Adam Friedland?

But, yeah. Taylor Swift and I have been through a lot. We're doing fine right now. Yeah. Yeah.

• 1:14:30Speaker 03

Am I supposed to know? Should I have done my research on this?

• 1:14:32Adam Friedland?

No, it's boring. It's like some guy came on my podcast that was dating Taylor Swift and then...

• 1:14:37Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:14:38Adam Friedland?

Yeah, and then, because my friend said, uh... Someone mentioned ice spice and he said, is that the Eskimo spice girl? Cause the ice.

• 1:14:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:14:45Adam Friedland?

And then they said it was insensitive to Eskimos or whatever.

• 1:14:51Speaker 03

  Really?

• 1:14:52Adam Friedland?

Yeah, it was like kind of a, and then like.

• 1:14:54Speaker 03

I miss a lot of the internet that you see.

• 1:14:57Adam Friedland?

No, I am not online at all. Dude, I miss that Ronaldo was at the White House yesterday.

• 1:15:03Speaker 03

I don't believe that you're not online at all, bro.

• 1:15:06Adam Friedland?

Dude, I'm here working on this brilliant show.

• 1:15:08Speaker 03

Dude, you just said you've worked three days in a row and you're exhausted. You can't be working that fucking much.

• 1:15:13Adam Friedland?

Three interviews in a row, because I grind on them. Not for this one, because this is light work. Alright, alright, this is light work, dude. I could do this if I wanted to, but, wait, let me, let me, uh, I wanna, I wanna, let's do a segment, right? Lightning round, right?

• 1:15:28Speaker 03

  Lightning round.

• 1:15:29Adam Friedland?

You're gonna get like, let's say, five seconds to argue back.

• 1:15:31Speaker 03

  Five seconds? Alright, sure.

• 1:15:33Adam Friedland?

And then, okay. Offensive linemen shouldn't be on TV as pundits. I don't care what Jeff Saturday thinks about something. If you don't get TDs or sacks, just like get off the screen. And also, like, we don't know what you look like.

• 1:15:46Speaker 03

  That's your take?

• 1:15:47Adam Friedland?

Yeah, they should, I don't want to see them.

• 1:15:50Speaker 03

You absolutely need them because, okay.

• 1:15:53Adam Friedland?

Okay, NBA, they should go back to business suits, the coaches.

• 1:15:57Speaker 03

I love that take. I agree.

• 1:15:59Adam Friedland?

Yeah, they look like they're like at a Kia finance event, like dude.

• 1:16:03Speaker 03

It's not NBA coaches. NBA coaches should wear suits. I 100% agree.

• 1:16:07Adam Friedland?

Yeah, and baseball coaches wearing the uniforms is the dopest thing of all time.

• 1:16:12Speaker 03

  You love it?

• 1:16:13Adam Friedland?

Oh, it's hilarious. See Don Zimmer's fat ass like wearing the same?

• 1:16:16Speaker 03

I think one day a year, the other sport should do the same thing.

• 1:16:19Adam Friedland?

  Suits?

• 1:16:20Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:16:21Adam Friedland?

  What?

• 1:16:21Speaker 03

  Wearing uniforms.

• 1:16:24Speaker 03

The coaches, like the NFL and NBA coaches, yeah, one day a year.

• 1:16:28Adam Friedland?

Wait, you should see them in a tank top?

• 1:16:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:16:30Adam Friedland?

I guess JJ would look fine, so. If David Stern were commissioner, Pablo would be dead. What do you think about that? Okay, agree?

• 1:16:39Speaker 03

That's a great take. I think if Stern were, go ahead.

• 1:16:43Adam Friedland?

If AI went to NFL, he'd be potentially top five, ever.

• 1:16:47Speaker 03

  Allen Iverson? Agreed.

• 1:16:49Adam Friedland?

  Dude, those highlights?

• 1:16:50Speaker 03

I think he would have been, I also think he could have been Arsenal's striker.

• 1:16:55Adam Friedland?

He was one of the best pure athletes I've ever seen.

• 1:16:58Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:16:58Adam Friedland?

And when he talks about Kobe, like, those guys put Kobe maybe one.

• 1:17:02Speaker 03

  Yeah, I know.

• 1:17:04Adam Friedland?

And I trust like what AI thinks about basketball more than a guy that doesn't know how to play sports.

• 1:17:10Adam Friedland?

Sorry, bro. Soccer is the best sport. The talent pool is wider. It's the whole world, right?

• 1:17:16Speaker 03

The talent pool is wider and there's not a height barrier to entry the way there is in other sports.

• 1:17:23Adam Friedland?

Yeah, and there is, just by far, the atmosphere is, there's no comparison.

• 1:17:28Speaker 03

  The atmosphere is the best.

• 1:17:29Adam Friedland?

There's no comparison. And it's just like, there is also like, I guess the Packers are technically like this, but there's a notion of like belonging to a club and that the supporters, I pay Arsenal. I pay them what? Do you pay?

• 1:17:42Speaker 03

What do you mean? What do you pay?

• 1:17:43Adam Friedland?

  38 pounds a year.

• 1:17:45Speaker 03

  For what?

• 1:17:45Adam Friedland?

To be in my club. That's my club.

• 1:17:48Speaker 03

What, you just give them money?

• 1:17:50Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:51Speaker 03

  What do you get back?

• 1:17:52Adam Friedland?

I'm a member of Arsenal. And then the players are the first team, the manager is the coach, and then there's a board. There's four. It's kind of beautiful.

• 1:18:02Speaker 03

  But then what's your role?

• 1:18:04Adam Friedland?

My role is that I'm a member of Arsenal.

• 1:18:06Speaker 03

So like, do you get to vote on stuff?

• 1:18:08Adam Friedland?

I get to maybe try and get tickets, but... Yeah, we get to watch, stream preseason games. I literally watch everything.

• 1:18:16Speaker 03

So you're just paying for Arsenal League pass, buddy?

• 1:18:18Adam Friedland?

No, I get that on Peacock and on Paramount.

• 1:18:22Speaker 03

Right, so you're just giving them 40 pounds a year?

• 1:18:25Adam Friedland?

Whatever. You should just watch the better sport. I'm sorry.

• 1:18:28Speaker 03

  I like soccer.

• 1:18:29Adam Friedland?

It's embarrassing being a guy from Brooklyn saying that it's the best sport.

• 1:18:33Speaker 03

Listen, I like it. World Cup's on my network.

• 1:18:36Adam Friedland?

World Cup, we're gonna brick it. The United States is gonna...

• 1:18:39Speaker 03

Oh, no shot. We got no shot.

• 1:18:40Adam Friedland?

No, no, no. I don't care about the team. That's a...

• 1:18:43Speaker 03

Oh, you mean as a host nation?

• 1:18:45Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. It's gonna be, like, the ticket prices are insane.

• 1:18:50Speaker 03

Yeah, but ticket prices are insane every World Cup.

• 1:18:54Adam Friedland?

There's like, my friend tried to get five tickets and it was like $50,000.

• 1:18:58Speaker 03

Was he trying to go to the final?

• 1:19:00Adam Friedland?

No, he's trying to go to a random game in Miami.

• 1:19:02Speaker 03

I don't think, I think your friend lied to you.

• 1:19:04Adam Friedland?

Group stage. Mark would never lie. I'll put him on the phone after this. He's the finest man I know. Kobe Bryant game was the best sports game in the last 25 years, probably ever. Wardell Stephen Curry is the best point guard of all time.

• 1:19:16Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:19:17Adam Friedland?

And anyone who doesn't have him in their top five is, I have no respect for you.

• 1:19:22Speaker 03

Top five player of all time?

• 1:19:23Adam Friedland?

  Yes, yes, yes.

• 1:19:24Speaker 03

  Okay, so...

• 1:19:25Adam Friedland?

I've never seen anyone shoot basketball.

• 1:19:27Speaker 03

He's the best shooter of all time.

• 1:19:28Adam Friedland?

But that's what basketball is. That's how you make points.

• 1:19:31Speaker 03

It's a big part of what basketball is.

• 1:19:32Adam Friedland?

Have you ever seen anything remotely like that?

• 1:19:34Speaker 03

No, he's the best shooter of all time. He's not better than Magic Johnson.

• 1:19:37Adam Friedland?

There's no goat debate for shooting.

• 1:19:39Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:19:39Adam Friedland?

Okay, and what, what, what, I, okay, I'll get sidetracked. I, the story of the 1980 finals is on paper incredible, right? He's a rookie.

• 1:19:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:19:51Adam Friedland?

  It's game six, Kareem's hurt.

• 1:19:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:19:53Adam Friedland?

He's in LA trying to rehab. They're like, let's just throw it, he plays five positions.

• 1:19:57Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:19:58Adam Friedland?

  And he wins MVP.

• 1:20:01Speaker 03

Shouldn't have won MVP, but yeah.

• 1:20:03Adam Friedland?

I, do you, have you watched game six?

• 1:20:05Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:20:07Adam Friedland?

  Come on. It's not.

• 1:20:09Speaker 03

  He's twenty.

• 1:20:10Adam Friedland?

  No one's league.

• 1:20:13Adam Friedland?

Magic, because he's a big guard.

• 1:20:15Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:20:15Adam Friedland?

And Michael Cooper, he could be a three and D. The rest of them aren't league.

• 1:20:20Speaker 03

  Kareem is definitively.

• 1:20:21Adam Friedland?

  He wasn't playing that game.

• 1:20:22Speaker 03

Oh, you're talking about literally just that game?

• 1:20:24Adam Friedland?

  It's just crappy, it's just.

• 1:20:25Speaker 03

  But it's.

• 1:20:26Adam Friedland?

It's just, there's no comparison. The eras are.

• 1:20:28Speaker 03

But you're like, this is like saying.

• 1:20:30Adam Friedland?

I'm with you dude, I'm a bromo, I'm a bromo sexual like you.

• 1:20:33Speaker 03

But let me ask you this.

• 1:20:34Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:34Speaker 03

  You're a comedian.

• 1:20:35Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:36Speaker 03

Who's the fucking Jackie Gleason? Or whatever.

• 1:20:40Adam Friedland?

Very good, yeah, he's a, he was a rabbi, you know?

• 1:20:42Speaker 03

If, if, his routines right now look pedestrian compared to the current.

• 1:20:49Adam Friedland?

  Absolutely not.

• 1:20:51Speaker 03

  Then I'm, who's the guy?

• 1:20:52Adam Friedland?

There isn't a comparison in the arts actually.

• 1:20:53Speaker 03

No, hold on, who's the guy that used Henny Youngman? Take my wife, please, that guy.

• 1:20:57Adam Friedland?

That is the best joke ever written.

• 1:20:59Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:21:00Adam Friedland?

Because they say because of word economy, they say that is the, that is the.

• 1:21:03Speaker 03

  The best joke ever written.

• 1:21:05Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:21:05Speaker 03

  But I guess my point.

• 1:21:06Adam Friedland?

  And it's true too.

• 1:21:07Speaker 03

Or like, I love Lucy, that type of stuff like doesn't hold up today, but we assume those people, if they were born today, would be the funniest people alive.

• 1:21:16Adam Friedland?

  It's a girl.

• 1:21:17Speaker 03

  What?

• 1:21:18Adam Friedland?

It's a girl, she's being annoying. It's not funny that.

• 1:21:21Speaker 03

Can I ask you a question? When you said, hold on, I have a question from ten minutes ago.

• 1:21:25Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:21:26Speaker 03

When you said, they get cold, and then you apologized to my wife.

• 1:21:30Adam Friedland?

Because I was being sexist, but it was a joke.

• 1:21:33Speaker 03

So I didn't know if you were being sexist or racist, that's what I was asking. I was trying to figure out if your girlfriend was black and you were saying black people get cold.

• 1:21:40Adam Friedland?

I would never go there, I would complain about these, the ball and chain, because we're, we're on a first guy date.

• 1:21:44Speaker 03

You thought the same thing, right? I was like, oh, are you also engaged to a black woman?

• 1:21:48Adam Friedland?

  What is that stereotype?

• 1:21:50Speaker 03

  What do you mean?

• 1:21:50Adam Friedland?

  Black people get cold?

• 1:21:52Speaker 03

I didn't know if that's what you were saying.

• 1:21:54Adam Friedland?

Women get cold as you've heard a million times. And I did a joke like, "I'm sorry," and then I'm like, "They get cold."

• 1:22:00Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's why I couldn't figure out.

• 1:22:02Adam Friedland?

Oh, because I was like, "Your wife is here, and we're on a first date, and she's chaperoning us."

• 1:22:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:22:07Adam Friedland?

And, "How's it going? What do you think?" Yeah, I'm destroying it, right? Okay.

• 1:22:14Adam Friedland?

They should let more people that aren't jocks be the coach.

• 1:22:18Speaker 03

  Why?

• 1:22:20Adam Friedland?

Because of... There's no overlap. Like, if you could learn the game cerebrally, you don't have to have played when you were 21 years old.

• 1:22:29Speaker 03

  Uh, I disagree.

• 1:22:31Adam Friedland?

  Why?

• 1:22:32Speaker 03

  Because I think-

• 1:22:32Adam Friedland?

Do you know who Jose Mourinho was?

• 1:22:35Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:22:35Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:22:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:22:36Adam Friedland?

  He didn't play.

• 1:22:37Speaker 03

Right, I'm not saying that it's impossible to be done. I think the best, particularly in the NFL-

• 1:22:44Adam Friedland?

You're sucking up to the jocks right now.

• 1:22:46Speaker 03

  No, I'm not.

• 1:22:46Adam Friedland?

You're sucking up to the jocks.

• 1:22:47Speaker 03

  I'm not sucking up.

• 1:22:47Adam Friedland?

  We could do it.

• 1:22:49Speaker 03

I think there are elements of it that we could do. But I think, like, to be-

• 1:22:54Adam Friedland?

The boys would think we're pussy.

• 1:22:58Speaker 03

  Correct.

• 1:22:58Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:22:59Speaker 03

And I think a huge part of being an NFL head coach is being able to, like, command the respect of the room. And I think that's very difficult if you weren't a player.

• 1:23:08Adam Friedland?

You're absolutely right. Now I'm imagining, like, "I'm your coach."

• 1:23:12Speaker 03

You don't have to imagine it that much, just look at the Dolphins.

• 1:23:14Adam Friedland?

Listen to me. We're doing Spider, Wine, Banana. I learned about it in the YouTube. It's bullshit that the NFL has non-guaranteed contracts. And that these guys are, like, literally destroying their brains. And, uh, and you could just cancel someone's deal. Like, why is Shohei getting, like, a billion dollars?

• 1:23:37Speaker 03

  So it's just-

• 1:23:37Adam Friedland?

  For a less popular sport.

• 1:23:39Speaker 03

The, yeah, I mean, I, the, the union for the NFL's been bad for a long time.

• 1:23:43Adam Friedland?

They're pro, like, the, the owners?

• 1:23:46Speaker 03

The union just hasn't had any teeth.

• 1:23:48Adam Friedland?

  It's really, like, actually, like-

• 1:23:49Speaker 03

  It's, yeah.

• 1:23:50Adam Friedland?

  Brutally sad.

• 1:23:51Speaker 03

  The-

• 1:23:52Adam Friedland?

Especially the sacrifice they make physically.

• 1:23:53Speaker 03

The, and now, listen, they, anybody can get a guaranteed contract. They just, guys, the, they don't have the leverage to negotiate it.

• 1:24:03Adam Friedland?

When you hear about Bobby Bonilla, are you, like, sick, dude?

• 1:24:06Speaker 03

  Well, yeah.

• 1:24:06Adam Friedland?

Yeah, fuck the, fuck the man, he's gotta pay.

• 1:24:09Speaker 03

Well, listen, I'm a union guy. I think that-

• 1:24:11Adam Friedland?

  Me too, bro.

• 1:24:11Speaker 03

The, I, yeah, but the football union's been bad for a long time. And the guys don't have enough juice to really-

• 1:24:18Adam Friedland?

Who's the rep? Who's the main guy?

• 1:24:21Speaker 03

It was D. Murray Smith forever. Who is it now? I don't even know. They just got, ask Pablo. He just got them all in trouble.

• 1:24:28Adam Friedland?

He got the, the union in trouble.

• 1:24:29Speaker 03

  NFL union, yes.

• 1:24:30Adam Friedland?

  He's a Pinkerton. He's a union buster.

• 1:24:32Speaker 03

Well, I don't think he meant to be, but kind of, yeah.

• 1:24:34Adam Friedland?

  He did, because he tattled.

• 1:24:35Speaker 03

  Well, again, I-

• 1:24:36Adam Friedland?

I ruined the Lakers playoff run. Did you have a take that you were wrong because of me?

• 1:24:41Speaker 03

Did you have a take that I was wrong?

• 1:24:43Adam Friedland?

That was my fault. I apologize.

• 1:24:44Speaker 03

  Because you thi-

• 1:24:45Adam Friedland?

The T. Wolves. Did you say we were gonna beat the T. Wolves?

• 1:24:47Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's your fault?

• 1:24:48Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, I apologize.

• 1:24:48Speaker 03

You threw it off with your tattling to Pablo.

• 1:24:50Adam Friedland?

My dad is pissed off at me. Yeah, my dad, my parents-

• 1:24:53Speaker 03

  What do your parents do?

• 1:24:55Adam Friedland?

My mother passed away. My dad was an architect, and then they were from Cape Town. They were Jews. And then my dad, the apartheid regime had him on a enemies list.

• 1:25:04Speaker 03

  Really?

• 1:25:05Adam Friedland?

And then he got called up to go to Angola to the civil war, and then they moved to LA. But then, my dad, the reason I'm kinda into sports is my dad like got into sports. And it was the 80s in LA, so it was Showtime, Dodgers, Fernando.

• 1:25:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:25:20Adam Friedland?

And so, my dad was at the Gibson game.

• 1:25:23Speaker 03

  Really?

• 1:25:24Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:25:24Speaker 03

  That's sick.

• 1:25:25Adam Friedland?

But he learned American sports to have something to share with his kid, who's American. And so, like, we shared it.

• 1:25:32Speaker 03

So, does your dad have a sick accent?

• 1:25:34Adam Friedland?

Uh, it's, I don't think it's a very good one. Does it say anything? Have you seen The Blood, The Blood Diamond?

• 1:25:39Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:25:40Adam Friedland?

He, he, he sounds nice. I love my dad. But, uh, he ju, at this age, he's 74, he turns the TV off like, um, like 25 times a game. He cannot take the stress.

• 1:25:52Speaker 03

  Really?

• 1:25:52Adam Friedland?

And it could be like a regular season game, too.

• 1:25:54Speaker 03

  And his favorite team's Lakers?

• 1:25:57Adam Friedland?

During the, the World Series Game 7, I'm backing on baseball.

• 1:26:01Speaker 03

I know. This was an unbelievable playoffs.

• 1:26:03Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:26:03Speaker 03

  It's unbelievable.

• 1:26:04Adam Friedland?

During the World Series, I called like 40 times just to make sure he didn't die. Yeah. And he's like, "I can't take this. It's not good for my health. It's not good for my-"

• 1:26:13Speaker 03

Do you go to LA and go to games?

• 1:26:15Adam Friedland?

  Uh, no.

• 1:26:16Speaker 03

We're going to LA on Tuesday for Thanksgiving, see our son.

• 1:26:20Adam Friedland?

  Family trip?

• 1:26:21Speaker 03

Yeah. So, and I get to meet my granddaughter, um, for the first time.

• 1:26:25Adam Friedland?

Do you have pigs? Uh, after. Yeah, congratulations by the way.

• 1:26:29Speaker 03

  Oh, thank you very much.

• 1:26:30Adam Friedland?

We didn't say on the show yet, you're a grandfather.

• 1:26:31Speaker 03

I'm a grandfather, as of 12 days ago.

• 1:26:33Adam Friedland?

Do you think that like the other guys should have more respect for you in a sports debate?

• 1:26:37Speaker 03

  Yes, 100%.

• 1:26:38Adam Friedland?

As an unk, or your grand.

• 1:26:41Speaker 03

  Gramps, yeah.

• 1:26:41Adam Friedland?

  OG.

• 1:26:42Speaker 03

  Exactly, that's how I feel.

• 1:26:44Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:45Speaker 03

But, uh, but we're gonna go to Lakers Mavs the day after Thanksgiving.

• 1:26:49Adam Friedland?

  Oh, that's sad, right?

• 1:26:51Speaker 03

Well, here's, here's the question that I have not yet talked to my wife about.

• 1:26:54Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:55Speaker 03

So my granddaughter will be at that point 20 days old.

• 1:26:59Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:27:00Speaker 03

Also though, it would be super sick for her when she's 70.

• 1:27:05Adam Friedland?

  Uh huh.

• 1:27:05Speaker 03

It'd be like, meeting someone, it's like, I watched Babe Ruth. To take her to the game, so she...

• 1:27:12Adam Friedland?

  20 days old.

• 1:27:13Speaker 03

I understand, yeah. But she can say she was there, she won't remember, but she'll, she'll be told you actually were...

• 1:27:19Adam Friedland?

  Who's gonna respect that?

• 1:27:20Speaker 03

  Who's?

• 1:27:21Adam Friedland?

  I mean, seriously.

• 1:27:22Speaker 03

It's always like when you were a very small baby, you were in the same... If your dad saw Babe Ruth play, that wouldn't be cool?

• 1:27:31Adam Friedland?

  If he was a baby?

• 1:27:32Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:27:33Adam Friedland?

No. He wouldn't remember it. What, you went to Kaufman, that was your first game?

• 1:27:39Speaker 03

  Kaufman.

• 1:27:40Adam Friedland?

  Kaufman.

• 1:27:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:27:41Adam Friedland?

It was a shit stadium though.

• 1:27:42Speaker 03

  It's still there.

• 1:27:43Adam Friedland?

  The fountain.

• 1:27:44Speaker 03

  The fountains are great.

• 1:27:46Adam Friedland?

You guys should change your uniforms.

• 1:27:47Speaker 03

  Why?

• 1:27:48Adam Friedland?

Cause they look too much like Dodgers.

• 1:27:50Speaker 03

No, they're powder blue. The powder blue ones are better.

• 1:27:54Adam Friedland?

They used to have like Dodgers uniforms.

• 1:27:56Speaker 03

No, they had Royals uniforms, maybe you guys copied us.

• 1:27:59Adam Friedland?

No way. You guys are, what, Tech 9?

• 1:28:03Speaker 03

  You guys...

• 1:28:04Adam Friedland?

What do you have, we have like, uh, Brad Pitt, um...

• 1:28:06Speaker 03

Brad Pitt from, actually, that's a bad poll, cause where's Brad Pitt from? Just north of Kansas City, exactly.

• 1:28:14Adam Friedland?

Okay, the Brooklyn Nets shouldn't exist.

• 1:28:16Speaker 03

  Agreed.

• 1:28:17Adam Friedland?

I live 10, 5 minutes from the stadium, walking. It's just, you, you, their fans aren't there, there are no fans.

• 1:28:23Speaker 03

We had, the year they got Katie, Kyrie and Harden, we got, we had season tickets.

• 1:28:28Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:29Speaker 03

And my wife after that year said, "I would rather go to five Knicks games a year than all of the Nets games."

• 1:28:37Adam Friedland?

I mean, it's just, I feel bad for them because every game is a road game.

• 1:28:41Speaker 03

Yeah, no, I, the, I don't know where, so where, what city, is there a city on the East Coast they should go to?

• 1:28:48Adam Friedland?

  Newark, New Jersey.

• 1:28:50Speaker 03

  Where they used to be?

• 1:28:51Adam Friedland?

They put on for the fucking Devils. Here's, I got a good one for you. The Los Angeles Clippers should not exist. They should go to Seattle.

• 1:28:59Speaker 03

  Or Vegas. Totally agree.

• 1:29:01Adam Friedland?

Vegas, it's, I don't care. I'm not from there. The Las Vegas Raiders should not exist and nor should the A's. And Oakland should have something.

• 1:29:10Speaker 03

I agree Oakland should have something. But the Raiders have moved so many times. LA, Oakland, LA, Oakland, Vegas.

• 1:29:18Adam Friedland?

They're Oakland. Okay, the best, speaking of Oakland, the best sports movie is Moneyball. Because they save so much.

• 1:29:26Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:29:27Adam Friedland?

They do. It's incredible. What's yours? Titans.

• 1:29:33Speaker 03

No, it's not. Remember the Titans.

• 1:29:35Adam Friedland?

Well, they, he brought, Coach Boone, he brought those boys together, taught them how to play.

• 1:29:38Speaker 03

Objectively speaking, the best sports movie of all time is probably Rocky.

• 1:29:42Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, I guess so.

• 1:29:44Speaker 03

  Raging Bull's pretty great.

• 1:29:46Adam Friedland?

  That might, that's up there.

• 1:29:48Speaker 03

The new Space Jam that Braun created.

• 1:29:50Adam Friedland?

Incredible. Incredible. UTA family, Clutch Sports, Rich Paul, Mav Carter. I asked my agents if I could have a meeting with Rich Paul when I go to LA.

• 1:30:02Speaker 03

  I could.

• 1:30:03Adam Friedland?

What am I gonna talk to him about?

• 1:30:04Speaker 03

I don't know. He'd like you. Rich is a great guy.

• 1:30:07Adam Friedland?

  Is he?

• 1:30:08Speaker 03

Yeah, Rich is a great guy.

• 1:30:09Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 1:30:10Speaker 03

But, yeah. And Maverick's one of my dearest friends.

• 1:30:12Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 1:30:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:30:14Adam Friedland?

So you're like, you're like, in too deep. That's why you did that Tuesday take. That was ridiculous. Tuesday at noon? Everyone should know that Tuesday is not a retirement. Who the fuck, what was that? Did they take you to the good one, bro? Okay. Alright, here's the last one.

• 1:30:35Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:30:35Adam Friedland?

I'm just putting it out there. For a million and a half dollars, you could have your way with me.

• 1:30:39Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:30:40Adam Friedland?

Literally, I don't care. Freaky, un-Christian, whatever you want, you could use any hole you want.

• 1:30:50Adam Friedland?

I just wanna buy a house, really.

• 1:30:53Speaker 03

I gotta imagine you do really well, bro.

• 1:30:55Adam Friedland?

Oh, it's like, it's gonna be good, I think. This year has been a reinvestment cycle, but...

• 1:31:03Speaker 03

  Reinv- oh, reinvest in yourself.

• 1:31:05Adam Friedland?

You're probably, yeah, in my own damn self. I'm drinking water, yeah, I'm doing meditation. How's this going? Really? You like me more than Broussard?

• 1:31:16Speaker 03

I love Broussard, but I like you a lot.

• 1:31:18Adam Friedland?

  Thank you.

• 1:31:19Speaker 03

  I...

• 1:31:19Adam Friedland?

That's your coworker, you shouldn't be saying that, but kinda...

• 1:31:22Speaker 03

  He's, he's a great guy.

• 1:31:24Adam Friedland?

  You guys argue all day.

• 1:31:25Speaker 03

I never, I never do stuff like this, ever.

• 1:31:27Adam Friedland?

  Really? Why'd you do it?

• 1:31:29Speaker 03

  The, no.

• 1:31:30Adam Friedland?

  He needs to, why?

• 1:31:31Speaker 03

She thinks I should do more stuff like this, but that's not why I'm doing it. I'm doing it 'cause I actually, I...

• 1:31:36Adam Friedland?

  You like the show?

• 1:31:37Speaker 03

Yeah, I think you do a good job.

• 1:31:38Adam Friedland?

We're gonna have a Richie Torres moment after this.

• 1:31:41Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:31:41Adam Friedland?

Okay, last take, and we're gonna cut this. College basketball is bad, but it's not as ba- it's way better than girl.

• 1:31:51Speaker 03

I think women's college basketball is actually...

• 1:31:53Adam Friedland?

  Women's college basketball?

• 1:31:54Speaker 03

I think women's college basketball is...

• 1:31:55Adam Friedland?

  I'm talking about the league.

• 1:31:56Speaker 03

I understand, I think women's college basketball is more consistently watchable than men's college basketball at this point.

• 1:32:02Adam Friedland?

Why, 'cause you're hornier, hornier for them?

• 1:32:04Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:32:04Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:32:05Speaker 03

  That's not...

• 1:32:05Adam Friedland?

  Is it sexier?

• 1:32:06Speaker 03

No, I just, I think that the men's college basketball doesn't work in its current state, and I think women's college ba...

• 1:32:14Adam Friedland?

  Shot clock is too long.

• 1:32:16Speaker 03

I think college basketball, having people that stay for all four years

• 1:32:20Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:32:20Speaker 03

makes the product really good, and that never happens in men's ball.

• 1:32:24Adam Friedland?

  Steph?

• 1:32:26Speaker 03

Steph stayed for three, I think.

• 1:32:28Adam Friedland?

  Oh, he almost got there.

• 1:32:29Speaker 03

Duncan stayed for four, but that's a long time ago.

• 1:32:31Adam Friedland?

Nerd ass Duncan. That's classic Duncan, fundamentals.

• 1:32:35Speaker 03

  Uh, yeah.

• 1:32:36Adam Friedland?

Yeah. He, didn't he learn how to play basketball when he was like seventeen? He was a swimmer.

• 1:32:42Speaker 03

  He was a swimmer, yeah.

• 1:32:44Adam Friedland?

Yeah. There was like a, the aquatic center was destroyed.

• 1:32:47Speaker 03

Yeah, he's from the US Virgin Islands.

• 1:32:49Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah. Same, bro.

• 1:32:51Speaker 03

  Basically.

• 1:32:51Adam Friedland?

Not one time. Actually, was that, never mind. Um, was that where the... Did you, are you on the logs, or no?

• 1:33:01Adam Friedland?

  Did you ever meet FC?

• 1:33:02Speaker 03

Oh, that's, I didn't know what you were talking about. No.

• 1:33:04Adam Friedland?

  No.

• 1:33:07Adam Friedland?

You know anyone that's met him?

• 1:33:09Speaker 03

  I don't think so.

• 1:33:10Adam Friedland?

Can you imagine like some guy's like, you want to get private plane to a private island? And it's, it's my crib. And then you just walk in and you like, didn't expect that.

• 1:33:22Speaker 03

I think most of the people who went were aware of what was going on.

• 1:33:25Adam Friedland?

I mean, I, of, I don't, of course. But what if someone, some guy was like, this, this guy Jeff. Fucking rich. He's so rich. And then, yeah, he wants to take me to an island. My goat, Dershowitz is there.

• 1:33:39Speaker 03

  You're a big Dershowitz fan?

• 1:33:40Adam Friedland?

No. The worst guy ever. Um, okay, I think, uh, I think we got it. I mean, like, is there anything you wanna, you wanna debate me on? I could beat you.

• 1:33:51Speaker 03

  Well, that's what-

• 1:33:51Adam Friedland?

I didn't talk about Kobe, but it's fine. I don't need to, I don't need to stoop down, like, to the level of the, the inefficient, the math guys, you know?

• 1:34:02Speaker 03

No, he's, he's a great, I said he was one of the 10 greatest players of all time. For some folks, that's not enough, because they want, you know, the myth rather than the facts, but being one of the 10 greatest in the history of something's really good. Like, if, if at the end of this thing-

• 1:34:16Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:17Speaker 03

They're like, the Adam Friedland Show-

• 1:34:19Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:19Speaker 03

Is one of the 10 best digital interview shows ever.

• 1:34:22Adam Friedland?

  Pathetic.

• 1:34:22Speaker 03

You wouldn't be like, that's bullshit that I'm nine.

• 1:34:26Adam Friedland?

  One B, dude. One B.

• 1:34:27Speaker 03

  Yeah, see-

• 1:34:28Adam Friedland?

Chelsea Lately, one A. Adam Friedland, one B. I don't know. I, I hate the math stuff. Is it race, is it driven by race?

• 1:34:38Speaker 03

  Uh-

• 1:34:39Adam Friedland?

Isn't it that it's a white pundit class talking about a, a black, predominantly black sport?

• 1:34:43Speaker 03

I do think there is an, there is an unintentional element to that.

• 1:34:47Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:48Speaker 03

Where, I think that some of the- Some of the, it has been a way for people who didn't, especially NBA front offices, wait for people who didn't play to get a seat at the table. And in overwhelmingly black sport,

• 1:35:04Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:35:04Speaker 03

Uh, it has made a lot more, given a lot more white people's seats at the table.

• 1:35:09Adam Friedland?

Oh, I didn't mean it that way. I mean it like, they could like criticize a black player with math. I didn't mean it like that, what, black, you don't think, are there any players that do the math?

• 1:35:19Speaker 03

No, what I'm saying is the front offices that are dominated by

• 1:35:23Adam Friedland?

  Uh huh.

• 1:35:24Speaker 03

Guys who didn't play, analytics folks, that's overwhelmingly white. And the front offices that are dominated by ex-players, that's overwhelmingly black.

• 1:35:33Adam Friedland?

Right. In a front office context, I don't mind it, but on TV, it's just not entertaining.

• 1:35:38Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, there's people arguing about efficiency.

• 1:35:41Adam Friedland?

Zach, Zach is the one that's fun about it, because he gets so excited. I don't even know what the numbers mean.

• 1:35:46Speaker 03

Well, so I, yeah, so Zach, Zach is the best to ever do what he's doing.

• 1:35:53Adam Friedland?

  Because he's having fun.

• 1:35:54Speaker 03

And because he's smarter than all these guys.

• 1:35:56Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:35:56Speaker 03

And so what is, folks who are not as smart and don't know as much basketball as Zach, trying to do what Zach does is a disaster, because now it's like, wait, you don't have all the information and you're boring. That's not gonna work.

• 1:36:08Adam Friedland?

Yeah. What, what, like, do you think it's divorced from what is great about sports, though? The math?

• 1:36:16Speaker 03

  Some of it, yeah.

• 1:36:17Adam Friedland?

But you're math, because you're like, LeBron is the best because he has the best math.

• 1:36:21Speaker 03

I'm a little bit of both, but I do think that.

• 1:36:23Adam Friedland?

Is your favorite movie like the top box office?

• 1:36:25Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:36:26Adam Friedland?

Yeah. You're like, it's the best movie, has the best.

• 1:36:28Speaker 03

I think there will be one that's the greatest movie ever.

• 1:36:30Adam Friedland?

  Oh, fire, yeah.

• 1:36:31Speaker 03

  Great.

• 1:36:32Adam Friedland?

Best movie, yeah. Wait, so let's, I want to finish this point, because I think it's interesting. Like, what do you identify, like, when you were a kid, calling it, say, Marty Schottenheimer should be taken out back and.

• 1:36:44Speaker 03

  Fired, yeah.

• 1:36:45Adam Friedland?

Yeah, and fired, yeah. Taken out back.

• 1:36:47Speaker 03

  Taken out back and fired.

• 1:36:48Adam Friedland?

Old, old yeller. Uh, what, like, what do we like about it? And why do we get so mad at each other about it? We've been getting along, but when you're on TV, you're pissed. You get pissed, you get heated about shit, and I don't think you're doing showbiz. I think you're actually like.

• 1:37:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:37:03Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:03Speaker 03

No, I like to, I, much to the chagrin of my lovely wife, who we've referenced a few times, I like to argue. And I really, I have always.

• 1:37:12Adam Friedland?

You act like that over there?

• 1:37:13Speaker 03

Maybe, I try not to, but it's sometimes hard. Um. The, I don't, uh, I have always had, maybe it's a mental defect, but it's also probably what's made me however good I am at what I do. I'm really convinced that if after I make my argument, you don't agree with me, you must not have understood my argument.

• 1:37:34Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, I mean, everyone feels that way, right?

• 1:37:36Speaker 03

Well, the, I think some people have more humility in it than I do, but...

• 1:37:40Adam Friedland?

But, I mean, what you're doing on TV is something that people do when they're hanging out, right?

• 1:37:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:37:46Adam Friedland?

  We do.

• 1:37:46Speaker 03

  At the barbershop, wherever.

• 1:37:48Adam Friedland?

And it's like, why, why does it retain meaning, right, to people, right?

• 1:37:52Speaker 03

  Oh, I don't, that I don't know.

• 1:37:54Adam Friedland?

I think it's because we attach narrative to it, right?

• 1:37:56Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:37:57Adam Friedland?

So like, Kobe shooting 100 times and getting a six...

• 1:38:02Speaker 03

  I think, by the way...

• 1:38:03Adam Friedland?

It's the story of the, of a career, right?

• 1:38:06Speaker 03

Correct. I don't think there's a lot of criticism of Kobe's final game.

• 1:38:10Adam Friedland?

I don't think that's what I'm saying. I'm saying that's why, what made it special.

• 1:38:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:38:14Adam Friedland?

Right, it's not debatable. Everyone had a great time watching it.

• 1:38:16Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:38:17Adam Friedland?

But it made it special not because of anything other than, we thought we'd never see him again. It's like when Tiger won the Masters.

• 1:38:24Speaker 03

That is, that's, that's pro, that's one of my two or three favorite sports moments ever, is Tiger winning the Masters.

• 1:38:30Adam Friedland?

Because when we were kids, he was like, it was a, he was also a kid, right? Did you get SI Kids?

• 1:38:37Speaker 03

I got all of it, man. I, I got, I got Sport Magazine.

• 1:38:41Adam Friedland?

Do you remember Grant Hill was big, SI Kids?

• 1:38:43Speaker 03

I had, I had, growing up, I had every, because ESPN, the magazine, came out when we were teens.

• 1:38:49Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:38:49Speaker 03

And I would get it, read the whole thing, and pin it up on my wall. And I had all of them on my wall when I graduated high school.

• 1:38:57Adam Friedland?

Do you remember the commercial with KG?

• 1:38:59Speaker 03

With KG and Stephon Marbury, tastefully done.

• 1:39:02Adam Friedland?

I took it serious. They said, "All nude." Yeah, they said, "No bikinis."

• 1:39:07Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:39:07Adam Friedland?

They were like, with, the punchline was, "All nude."

• 1:39:09Speaker 03

  All nude, but tastefully done.

• 1:39:11Adam Friedland?

Yeah, I mean, but they didn't, they actually didn't, I mean, Fox Sports would never do that. ESPN, they would never lie about putting real boobs in it. At that age, you're hunting for boobs. Yeah. I was like, I gotta get ESPN the magazine, because Stephon Marbury told me there's gonna be sluts in it. And there was nothing.

• 1:39:32Speaker 03

I think that, I mean, if we're really trying to rehash that commercial, I think he was implying that he was gonna be nude in it.

• 1:39:39Adam Friedland?

  Oh, really?

• 1:39:40Speaker 03

And you had to get it.

• 1:39:41Adam Friedland?

It's like, you know Burt Reynolds? He posed in Playgirl?

• 1:39:46Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 1:39:47Adam Friedland?

And he thought it was because girls were reading it, and then he found out afterwards that it was gay guys. Gay guys. And then he got pissed off. He's like, what the hell? No, I don't believe it. Of course not. Dude, this has been a pleasure.

• 1:39:58Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 1:39:59Adam Friedland?

  Wait, I should, wait.
