Five Minute Friday, Five Minute Friday, Five Minute Friday. Episode 468, Focus on Possibilities. When you focus on problems, you'll have more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you'll have more opportunities. Welcome to today's episode. We all have different challenges that are going to come up to us in our life. Every single day, week, month, year, every relationship, every season, there are going to be challenges. Some may be external, some may be internal, some may be just stories in our mind that we create challenges for no reason. They're going to come up.

When we focus more on the problems though, we're going to see more of them arise in our life. When we look at the possibilities and we see what's possible through the challenges, then we create opportunities. And these opportunities don't just happen once in a while. They start to flow like an avalanche of incredible opportunities to your life. Again, and whatever you focus your energy on, that's what's going to happen. Now, we all have challenges, but we also have endless possibilities. That won't change either. These possibilities are all around us. It's all about our choice of which perspective to focus on. Do we want to focus on the problems every single day?

• 1:30Lewis Howes?

I've got this challenge, I've got this problem, I've got that thing happening? Or do we want to focus on the possibilities every single day? You know what? Maybe I'm going through a challenge right now, but look at the opportunity that's on the other side of this. If I can figure out how to get through it. That's what this is all about. It's all about what we focus on. And so many times I see people who are down and out and they continue to focus on being in that space. And I know, trust me, I know just as much as most people, when we're down and out, I've been there for a couple of years. I was struggling on my sister's couch and I felt like there was zero hope. I didn't know what I was going to do. How am I gonna make

• 2:12Lewis Howes?

money? How am I gonna feed myself? I couldn't pay for my rent. I couldn't do anything. I didn't have a car. I couldn't pay for a car payment. I couldn't pay for gas. I couldn't do anything. All I had to look at was either problems or the possibilities. And here's what I decided to do. I decided to say, listen, I have no skills. I have no talent. I have no degree. I have no education. I'm too young. I have no money. But here's what I have. Are you ready? I have a willingness to express my passion and joy and curiosity and show energy every single day. That's what I can create. I can create energy. I can create

joy. I can create connection. And I'll tell you what, when I started to do those things with individuals, mentors, coaches, leaders in the business world, when I started to express passion, joy, connection, intimacy, a hunger, a starvation for learning and growth, when I showed up with that type of passion around people, people said, wow, that passion that that kid has is going to create him opportunities. And then they would give me the opportunity because of my passion. So I don't want to hear anymore that I don't know what to do. I don't know how to get out of this slump. I don't know how to not be broke. I don't know how to get started on my business. I don't know how to get in

shape. I don't know how to end this relationship. It all starts with your energy and what you focus on. If you're focusing on the negative things, you're going to create negative problems. If you're focusing on positive passion, you're going to create possibilities. So focus on something positive and just start attaching yourself to this hunger, this hunger that you're going to get out of this place you're in right now. Now and get to another level. It doesn't have to be this crazy level right away, but just to the next step, just to grow a little bit each day, growing a little bit. That could be by developing a positive habit and sticking to it for two days. And then sticking to that habit for a week. That's growth.

• 4:18Lewis Howes?

That's something positive to stick your shirt on and say, listen, I am doing something in a positive way that's creating opportunities and possibilities. As opposed to doing the negative habits, the negative self-talk, hanging out with negative people consistently day after day, talking about gossip and BS that isn't going to help you create a positive energy to create new possibilities. You get to decide every single day. Do you want to focus on problems? Or do you want to focus on possibilities? What do you want to decide? What do you want to focus on? Who are you going to become? Who you become is based on the thoughts that you have.

• 5:02Lewis Howes?

And those thoughts create action. And those actions have a certain energy attached to it. Either a positive energy or a negative energy. And when you show up with a negative energy, you typically get negative results one way or another. When you show up with a positive energy, you typically get positive results one way or another. Focus on the possibilities. This is Five Minute Friday, episode 468. Thank you so very much for being here. Every Friday, we create some type of inspiration to just get you going.
