She'd throw things, wander, and started hoarding. Mom's Alzheimer's was already so hard. But then we found out she had agitation that may happen with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease. And that was a different kind of difficult. So we asked her doctor for more help.

• 2:55Laci Mosley?

What's poppin', congregation? It's your girl, Lacey Mosley, AKA Scam Goddess, coming back to you with a podcast all about comedy, robbery, fraud, and those who practice it. Sometimes we love them. Sometimes we hate them. We will see in this show. And if you are a longtime listener, you already know I am what? Yes, excited, elated. Today, we have an amazing actor, stand-up comedian, and writer on the show. You've seen him as Thaddeus, the Brotherhood's most unlikely squire on Amazon's critically acclaimed TV series Fallout. You've also seen him in Superstore, 21 Jump Street, and you've also heard his voice work in Adventure Time, Pickle and Peanut, and y'all know my fave, Bob's Burgers.

• 3:40Laci Mosley?

Yes, congregation. Please welcome Johnny Pemberton to the show. Hi, Johnny.

• 3:47Speaker 07

Welcome me. Great to be. Love being here. Super great. Cough button, yes.

• 3:56Speaker 07

Yes. I have to do that. I had to do it at least once.

• 3:59Laci Mosley?

You probably can do whatever you want.

• 4:01Speaker 07

Right, okay. I'll do it again, then.

• 4:03Laci Mosley?

It's your studio. You can do whatever you want.

• 4:04Speaker 07

  I mean, is it, though?

• 4:05Laci Mosley?

Okay, there's pictures of me everywhere, but it...

• 4:08Speaker 07

I do feel like I'm in your den. This is not...

• 4:11Laci Mosley?

  Not a den.

• 4:12Speaker 07

I'm visiting. I'm visiting the, uh... This is your nest.

• 4:16Laci Mosley?

Okay, well, in my nest, I always ask my guests, "What's your relationship with scams? Do you love them? Do you hate them? Has something happened to you? Has it happened to someone? And it's past the statute of limitations? And we could talk about it? It could be anything."

• 4:29Speaker 07

I think I'm kind of obsessed with scams, actually. Scams, a good scam is you can park at any meter if it's broken and they can't give you a ticket. It's a great scam. I've been doing it for years.

• 4:42Laci Mosley?

  That's been working for you?

• 4:43Speaker 07

  I'm doing it right now.

• 4:45Laci Mosley?

  I've been towed 12 times.

• 4:46Speaker 07

  Toed?

• 4:47Laci Mosley?

  Oh, yeah.

• 4:48Speaker 07

  At a broken meter?

• 4:49Laci Mosley?

Oh, um, no, on my street when I first moved here, but Hollywood tow knows my name. Like, I would go in there.

• 4:56Speaker 07

  Damn, that's expensive.

• 4:57Laci Mosley?

They would pull up my file. Like, I would go in, they'd be like, "Hey, Lacey."

• 5:01Speaker 07

  Oh, my god.

• 5:02Laci Mosley?

At the time, it was like $2.83 per tow.

• 5:05Speaker 07

  Jesus.

• 5:05Laci Mosley?

Forty dollars a day if you leave it overnight.

• 5:08Speaker 07

  It's like 500 bucks.

• 5:09Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 5:10Speaker 07

  It's so expensive.

• 5:11Laci Mosley?

  Yeah, it was horrible.

• 5:12Speaker 07

Yeah. It only happened one time, and I was convinced I'll never, ever let that happen again.

• 5:17Laci Mosley?

So how do you, like, distinguish a broken parking meter?

• 5:22Speaker 07

If you look at it and you're trying to pay, if there's something lodged in there where you can't put the card in, if it's like the screen is broken and you can't read it, it's broken. And you don't have to pay for it because it's not your fault that the meter's broken. But the spot is empty, you can park there.

• 5:38Laci Mosley?

But I haven't ticketed that way. How are you getting away with this?

• 5:41Speaker 07

I mean, I took a picture of it just now, so I can show it if I do get a ticket, because it's broken. I might be eating my words as we speak right now for parking there, but I've done it a bunch. That's a scam I used to do with parking. Another great one is if you drive like an old, American-built white truck, and you have a bunch of like stuff in the back, like dirt or rakes or something like that, you can park wherever you want, pretty much, because they think you're like a city truck.

• 6:09Laci Mosley?

Ooh, that's like a clipboard scam, like where you walk in there and you got a clipboard or you got like a reflective vest, then people will...

• 6:18Speaker 07

They just think you're like there to do like city landscaping. And as long as you, as long as the truck is a certain age, it's American-made, and it's white, and it's like the lowest trim model, and you have like, I mean, there's a bunch of stuff you can do to make it more likely that it's a government truck, but for the most part, I think you won't get a ticket. You can park in like loading zones. You can park places where typically you would get ticketed.

• 6:42Laci Mosley?

  Ooh.

• 6:43Speaker 07

Yeah. You do have to drive that truck, though.

• 6:46Laci Mosley?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 6:47Speaker 07

Everything comes with, you know, there's like a, everything comes with a...

• 6:50Laci Mosley?

Yeah, you go in here and stay, and you gotta pick them up in that truck.

• 6:53Speaker 07

Yeah, but maybe you have the inside super nice. I don't know, you could have it tricked out.

• 6:57Laci Mosley?

Yeah, you could have it souped up in the inside. That was a big scam. I've talked about that on this show, pimp my ride.

• 7:03Speaker 07

Oh my god, it's a huge scam. Massive scam.

• 7:06Laci Mosley?

They wouldn't even let you sell the cars after you did the show. Like, there was like a whole contract.

• 7:10Speaker 07

It's terrible. Everything they did back then, all those whole makeover shows, total scams, same thing.

• 7:16Laci Mosley?

How you gonna drive with a fish tank in your car?

• 7:19Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 7:19Laci Mosley?

  How?

• 7:20Speaker 07

  Gotta keep the fish alive.

• 7:22Laci Mosley?

  That's crazy.

• 7:23Speaker 07

You have to pay like a hundred dollars a month for special car, fish food.

• 7:26Laci Mosley?

  And fish smell crazy.

• 7:28Speaker 07

They smell the worst. That smell is smell. That's like the worst smell.

• 7:31Laci Mosley?

I've said this a bunch of times on this show, if you've listened for six years, but you already know that, what? People who own fish, I think they're murderers. Like.

• 7:40Speaker 07

  Murderers?

• 7:41Laci Mosley?

Yes. Why do you wanna own a pet you can't touch? Why do you wanna own a pet that you put in a little jar and you be like, "Yeah, little pet, yeah, give you food"? You're like, "What, what"?

• 7:52Speaker 07

Well, so how does it make him a murderer, though?

• 7:54Laci Mosley?

Because they want control. Like, they don't want.

• 7:57Speaker 07

  You don't want any control?

• 7:59Laci Mosley?

I do, but I want reciprocation.

• 8:01Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 8:02Laci Mosley?

I want the dog to... My dog Shelby saved my life one time. Yeah.

• 8:07Speaker 07

I used to have a dog named Shelby.

• 8:08Laci Mosley?

  Really?

• 8:08Speaker 07

Yeah, my first dog growing up was named Shelby. For real. Yep. I was a kid. Shelby.

• 8:13Laci Mosley?

Mine was a Shih Tzu. What was yours?

• 8:14Speaker 07

  She was a Springer Spaniel.

• 8:16Laci Mosley?

  Okay. Cute dog.

• 8:18Speaker 07

Very cute. Same as life. What's a scam? The dog?

• 8:21Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 8:22Speaker 07

I guess so. I mean, they're kind of are expensive.

• 8:24Laci Mosley?

They're expensive, they have health needs, they got, you gotta take them to the vet, you gotta take them everywhere, like.

• 8:30Speaker 07

  So expensive.

• 8:31Laci Mosley?

  But they're worth it.

• 8:33Speaker 07

Yeah, I love dogs. I love my dog. They, uh, help out immensely. Saves my life.

• 8:38Laci Mosley?

  Yeah. Saves your life.

• 8:40Speaker 07

My therapist is the dog, I feel like. You know what I mean? Cause like the dogs are always there for you and you can kinda like, uh, they always know when you're feeling really different or bad or shitty, they always come up and like, "Hey, what's going on, man? Hey, remember, this is, everything's fine, everything's chill."

• 8:56Laci Mosley?

That's my hope, is that in reincarnation, I come back as a rich woman's dog.

• 9:01Speaker 07

Oh, really? You wanna go down carnation?

• 9:04Laci Mosley?

  What's up past human?

• 9:06Speaker 07

Nothing. We're at the top. We're at the top. This is it.

• 9:09Laci Mosley?

  We're the apex predators.

• 9:10Speaker 07

Yeah, we're at the top. This is as good as it gets. Even like the worst human you've ever met is still technically, in a carnation's term, better than like the best animal. Like they did something better before.

• 9:23Laci Mosley?

Well, I'm not trying to come back as like a roach or something, some type shit like that. Like, you know, I wanna like a rich woman's dog, a rat?

• 9:30Speaker 07

Yeah, it'd be kinda fun to be a rat.

• 9:31Laci Mosley?

You wanna be like a New York City rat?

• 9:33Speaker 07

Not a New York City rat. I want to be like a special rat that can live a long time.

• 9:36Laci Mosley?

  You wanna be Ratatouille?

• 9:38Speaker 07

  Yes, I wanna be Ratatouille.

• 9:40Laci Mosley?

  Okay.

• 9:40Speaker 07

I could do that. But that's, you know, that's a-

• 9:42Laci Mosley?

I could see that for you.

• 9:43Speaker 07

That's a down carnation, not an up.

• 9:45Laci Mosley?

Johnny, I could see that for you. I don't know. Rats don't have as much responsibilities as us. We could-

• 9:51Speaker 07

  That's exactly what I want.

• 9:52Laci Mosley?

We don't have to pay no bills.

• 9:54Speaker 07

I want no, I want no responsibilities. I want nothing. That's what I want. It's just not to have to think about anything.

• 9:59Laci Mosley?

I would take the subway. I think I could, I could handle that.

• 10:02Speaker 07

Yeah, you can live down there. All your friends are down there.

• 10:04Laci Mosley?

All my homies. It's a party every day.

• 10:06Speaker 07

You don't mind being dirty? It's just awesome being dirty?

• 10:09Laci Mosley?

  I don't like being dirty.

• 10:10Speaker 07

Well, you don't like being dirty, but if you were a rat, maybe you would. Maybe you'd be like, oh, this is great.

• 10:14Laci Mosley?

Ooh, okay, maybe it might be some freedom in that.

• 10:17Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 10:17Laci Mosley?

Like, just like, fuck it. Like, we out here.

• 10:20Speaker 07

It's not the best, but we don't know. We don't know if it's bad.

Hello, hello. I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of Smart Talks with IBM. Imagine your business depends on a system you didn't build and don't fully control. For years, it works perfectly. It's fast, reliable, affordable. So over time, more and more of your operations rely on it. Then one day, the terms change. What once felt flexible now feels difficult to leave. Moving to another provider or bringing those capabilities back under your own control could take years, cost millions, and disrupt the business in the process. That's the challenge of digital sovereignty. Businesses today rely on all sorts of third-party systems,

• 12:54Speaker 10

cloud platforms, data pipelines, AI models, software tools. Most days, these systems operate quietly in the background. But when something changes, like costs go up or rules shift, organizations are forced to confront how much control and flexibility they actually have. So to understand the challenge up close, I traveled to Paris to speak with IBM's Anupala Assis Anaxas CIO, Giovanni Daniele, two people who think about these questions every day. Hear the full conversation at ibm.com/smarttalks or wherever you get your podcasts.

So we're going into historic hoodwinkings. This is where I will regale Johnny with a famous con caper group of criminals. We don't know yet. This was a little detailed, which I'm glad that you're such a great listener.

• 14:49Speaker 07

  Thank you.

• 14:49Laci Mosley?

So today, we're talking about the gold rush.

• 14:53Speaker 07

Ooh, this is a good one.

• 14:54Laci Mosley?

The gold rush didn't end with the Old West. And the largest mining scam in history actually happened in the 90s.

• 15:05Speaker 07

  In the 90s.

• 15:06Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 15:07Speaker 07

  The 1990s.

• 15:07Laci Mosley?

  Okay, history expert.

• 15:08Speaker 07

  Yes.

• 15:09Laci Mosley?

And this took place when like a prospector in the darkest jungles of Indonesia faked the existence of $6 billion worth of like of a mine. So a $6 billion mine.

• 15:22Speaker 07

Six billion golds to find, choose none.

• 15:26Laci Mosley?

He pretended he had it. And who's gonna check him? I'm not going to Indonesia. Like, if you come to me, you're like, hey, hey, buddy, hey, Scott.

• 15:36Speaker 07

  Scott.

• 15:36Laci Mosley?

That's a white guy name, right?

• 15:38Speaker 07

  Yeah, it's pretty wild.

• 15:39Laci Mosley?

  Hey, Scott, hey, Matt.

• 15:40Speaker 07

  Hey, Brian.

• 15:40Laci Mosley?

Brian, I got a new mine for you. Like, we got money coming in. I'll be like, yeah, sure, I'm not gonna go look. So that's what they did. The gold rush ended almost like two hundred years ago, right? But new gold mines are still being found in some areas of the world. It's just a lot harder to do it, obviously, than it used to be.

• 16:05Speaker 07

Hard to get it. You gotta dig.

• 16:07Laci Mosley?

Yeah, and they don't wanna dig. They just wanna steal land and get somebody else to dig. So in the nineties, Indonesia seemed like a land of opportunity for prospectors. It might have had a lot of natural resources hiding in the jungles and hadn't been like exploited by the West. You know, that's what we do. So, obviously, it's a place of interest.

• 16:31Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 16:31Laci Mosley?

  Like Venezuela.

• 16:34Speaker 07

Oh, yeah, I've heard about that place.

• 16:34Laci Mosley?

We're not over there for oil. We

• 16:36Speaker 07

No, we're trying to help people.

• 16:37Laci Mosley?

  Stopping the drug.

• 16:39Speaker 07

We're trying to stop people from getting hurt.

• 16:40Laci Mosley?

  Oh, so bad.

• 16:42Speaker 07

The drugs are just so terrible.

• 16:44Laci Mosley?

  We're not stealing things.

• 16:46Speaker 07

No, why would we do that? That would make any sense.

• 16:48Laci Mosley?

It's so funny to watch the US government get frustrated with the old tactics that they used to use. Not working anymore.

• 16:55Speaker 07

Yeah, but they are working, though.

• 16:57Laci Mosley?

Like, bitch, we have Twitter, we have TikTok. We know what you're doing. Like, it's not

• 17:01Speaker 07

Some of us. The rest are like, oh, that's fake. That's a fake lie. That's not real. That's really, that's a real thing. They really did that drug boat. It's drug boats.

• 17:10Laci Mosley?

Also, like, okay, if you selling a little drugs, that mean you need to get exploded? Like, can we have some due process? Like, get them out the water and talk to them.

• 17:21Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 17:21Laci Mosley?

What you mean you get exploded for, for, even, even if they were right, even if it was true?

• 17:26Speaker 07

Due process is gone. It's been gone.

• 17:29Laci Mosley?

  It's, it's real rough.

• 17:30Speaker 07

  It's done. No more.

• 17:31Laci Mosley?

  Yikes.

• 17:32Speaker 07

  Now it's just process.

• 17:35Speaker 07

  No more do.

• 17:36Laci Mosley?

  No more do.

• 17:37Speaker 07

It's just, just straight up process. It's just what we do. It's due process instead of due process. Spelled D O.

• 17:44Laci Mosley?

  Yeah, not D U E anymore.

• 17:46Speaker 07

  It's the process we do.

• 17:47Laci Mosley?

  We doing it to you.

• 17:49Speaker 07

It's the process we do. We just blow them up.

• 17:51Laci Mosley?

We decided this is the process and we're doing it to you.

• 17:54Speaker 07

Shoot first, ask no questions at all.

• 17:57Laci Mosley?

  At all, at all.

• 17:58Speaker 07

  Bomb first, no questions.

• 18:01Laci Mosley?

And, and don't ask me. And don't

• 18:02Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 18:03Laci Mosley?

Repeat it. Forget. Everybody forget. So in 1993, a Canadian penny stock mining company called Bree X acquired the rights to a piece of land situated in the heart of the vast rugged island of Borneo. The Asian island is shared between three countries, Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia. So now we're looking at Bree X.

• 18:29Speaker 07

There it is. That's a great logo.

• 18:31Laci Mosley?

  Very official building.

• 18:32Speaker 07

  Brex.

• 18:33Laci Mosley?

Yeah, Brex. It's something about a X that, fuck you Elon.

• 18:37Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 18:37Laci Mosley?

I'll never call that website. I call it what my mama named it. My mama named it Twitter. It's Twitter. I'm never gonna call it X, but.

• 18:44Speaker 07

That's one of the dumbest things anyone's ever done is, I mean.

• 18:48Laci Mosley?

That's such a scammer tactic. You just throw a X on there and it's like, ooh, high tech.

• 18:52Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 18:53Laci Mosley?

  Ooh.

• 18:54Speaker 07

Like, everything's that way. It's like, this isn't, this isn't space. This is space X. This is like Gen X. This is Model X. This is X. It's sexy.

• 19:02Laci Mosley?

Something about the X, it's just.

• 19:03Speaker 07

  X. It's just two lines that are crossed.

• 19:06Laci Mosley?

  X is very sexy.

• 19:08Speaker 07

I mean, it's in the word sex.

• 19:10Laci Mosley?

Sex. Sex. X. Ooh, X. You see how your, how your mouth forms it is like sexy.

• 19:18Speaker 07

  Sex.

• 19:19Laci Mosley?

  X.

• 19:19Speaker 07

Let's say it that way. Sex.

• 19:21Laci Mosley?

  Sex.

• 19:21Speaker 07

  Sex. Y'all wanna have sex?

• 19:23Laci Mosley?

How, what's the worst way we can say sex? To make it seem gross?

• 19:27Speaker 07

Oh God, we're gonna have sex.

• 19:30Laci Mosley?

Okay, I'm gonna go Pittsburgh. Let's see. Oh, we're gonna, mm, oh, that's not it.

• 19:34Speaker 07

  I can't do it. I can't do Pitt.

• 19:36Laci Mosley?

I can do Pitt. I came from Pittsburgh.

• 19:38Speaker 07

  You did?

• 19:39Laci Mosley?

Yeah, I, well, not came from Pittsburgh. I'm from Texas, but I went to college there.

• 19:42Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 19:43Laci Mosley?

So it's like the O's are really hard, like the O.

• 19:45Speaker 07

  Yins.

• 19:46Laci Mosley?

We're going to the O, yins, gais, yins. Sax, sax.

• 19:51Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 19:51Laci Mosley?

  Sax.

• 19:52Speaker 07

  Sax.

• 19:52Laci Mosley?

  That's terrible.

• 19:53Speaker 07

Sounds like a, what, how many saxes is it? Oh, no, sax, sax better.

• 19:57Laci Mosley?

  Sax sounds bad.

• 19:58Speaker 07

  Sax, yeah.

• 19:59Laci Mosley?

Yeah, so the isolated site was positioned in Rivershead, where several large mining companies had previously subverted the area and concluded it lacked valuable minerals. So basically, they put this shit in the bumfuck of nowhere where everybody was like, we should not be here. Like, this is not good land. And they were like, sax. We, like, they were like, the X is enough.

• 20:26Speaker 07

There's sacks of gold here. There's sacks of it. There's just tons of sacks of gold here. Come get it.

• 20:32Laci Mosley?

  I believe you, Johnny.

• 20:33Speaker 07

  Oh, you do?

• 20:34Laci Mosley?

  That made me believe you.

• 20:35Speaker 07

Yeah, if you're bumpkin enough, people believe you because they think you don't know how to lie.

• 20:39Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 20:40Speaker 07

That's an old trick. That's an old scam.

• 20:42Laci Mosley?

Man, that's a scam that's working on us right now.

• 20:44Speaker 07

I mean, I technically have been scamming the whole world for a long time, pretending to be stupid. That's the ultimate scam. You just act stupid.

• 20:52Laci Mosley?

Yo, it's one of my favorite scams.

• 20:54Speaker 07

  It's the ultimate.

• 20:54Laci Mosley?

  So, Overland.

• 20:57Speaker 07

  What's that?

• 20:57Laci Mosley?

  It's a place.

• 20:58Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 20:59Laci Mosley?

The journey to the site takes five hours and ends at a small village where the second leg starts by boat. So we ain't even there yet.

• 21:08Speaker 07

Never get on, never do that.

• 21:10Laci Mosley?

I don't like multiple locations. I, like, why are we, why do we have to get on different?

• 21:15Speaker 07

Different modes of transportation? Plane to jeep to boat. When you get on the boat, that's when you're like.

• 21:21Laci Mosley?

  Bus, club, another bu, no.

• 21:23Speaker 07

  Nah.

• 21:23Laci Mosley?

Mm-mm, I'm out. So then it takes another six hours upriver and then two-hour hike to get to the potential mine.

• 21:33Speaker 07

Wow, that's a great place to hide nothing.

• 21:36Laci Mosley?

Honestly, strategic. Like, I'm kinda proud. But Bree Ex Minerals CEO David Walsh needed a break. He had declared personal bankruptcy in 1992 and his company was basically a shell, barely surviving. He looked up an acquaintance he'd met 10 years earlier in Australia, a Dutch explorer who was known as the Indiana Jones of geologists, which-

• 22:03Speaker 07

I'm sure he called himself that.

• 22:04Laci Mosley?

  He did.

• 22:05Speaker 07

Sure, it's like, "I'm Indiana Jones."

• 22:07Laci Mosley?

And he spread it around. He spread it around.

• 22:10Speaker 07

  People are calling me that.

• 22:11Laci Mosley?

And this is him. This is the Indiana Jones of geologists. First of all, he don't even look like he ever been around no rocks and no dirt. Okay, this man looks like-

• 22:19Speaker 07

He looks like he sleeps in rocks and dirt.

• 22:21Laci Mosley?

I don't know. He look like he seen something.

• 22:23Speaker 07

He's smoking Marlboro Lights. He's got his shirt open.

• 22:26Laci Mosley?

Them rocks popped out and scared him. Like, he's terrified.

• 22:31Speaker 07

That's a crusty man right there.

• 22:32Laci Mosley?

But look at his eyes and the red underneath. Like, he's seen something.

• 22:37Speaker 07

  He's killed. He is killed.

• 22:38Laci Mosley?

  Oh, for sure.

• 22:39Speaker 07

He's buried someone who was still breathing.

• 22:41Laci Mosley?

Oh, man. He is definitely a murderer.

• 22:45Speaker 07

He's got a reversible shirt on, too.

• 22:46Laci Mosley?

Allegedly, but, yeah. He doesn't see too much. Them eyes ain't- you can't- you can't hide.

• 22:52Speaker 07

I love how this is the photo of him. Like, what is this picture? This is definitely taken from far away, like, the worst photo of a human.

• 23:00Laci Mosley?

It looks like a private investigator took it.

• 23:02Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 23:03Laci Mosley?

Like, like a woman was like, "It's my husband cheating on me," and then they took that picture. Okay.

• 23:09Speaker 07

  He's just mining.

• 23:09Laci Mosley?

This one he's posed for, and he's still-

• 23:12Speaker 07

That's the same guy on the right, huh? Little younger, little more eyebrows.

• 23:16Laci Mosley?

  Is he a redhead?

• 23:18Speaker 07

It's the guy on the right, though, isn't it?

• 23:19Laci Mosley?

It's the guy on the right.

• 23:20Speaker 07

Okay, the guy with the bushy eyebrows. John Feldroth.

• 23:23Laci Mosley?

Well, Walsh reached out to John Feldroth and asked Feldroth if he knew any potential mining projects. A month later, Walsh spent his last $10,000 on a trip to Indonesia to visit him.

• 23:40Laci Mosley?

  So.

• 23:41Speaker 07

  There they are.

• 23:42Laci Mosley?

This is Walsh's last 10K. And he was like, I gotta, I gotta make a bid. I gotta make a play. Like, I need money. Like, we gotta, we gotta go up. So, I mean, Walsh looks like he's trying to make something happen. He got his tie on, he got his suit on. He like, come on, like, let's, let's get a coin.

• 24:01Speaker 07

  They're trying to appear presentable.

• 24:03Laci Mosley?

So, John believed the remote site was a gold mine waiting to be exploited. He had already discovered a massive gold and copper mine in Papua New Guinea. And prospectors and developers, like the Association of Canada, named him Prospector of the Year. So they were like, you finding all the money, John? We gonna name you Prospector of the Year for finding money and, and stealing resources from people.

• 24:33Speaker 07

  What a great award.

• 24:36Laci Mosley?

  I mean, it's a very American award.

• 24:38Speaker 07

  Yeah, Prospector of the Year.

• 24:40Laci Mosley?

You went and found stuff to steal from people. Good for you. So, people in the mineral business assumed he knew, like, what he was talking about. He said he made the same magic happen in Borneo. He just needed, like, some startup funds. So now he's like, I need some coin. I'm gonna do the same thing I did at the other place.

• 25:00Speaker 07

That's the ultimate scam, right? Is you need money to help you get more money.

• 25:04Laci Mosley?

  Oh, yeah.

• 25:05Speaker 07

Like, I need, I've got a bunch of money over here, but I need some money to get it.

• 25:09Laci Mosley?

  Damn, that's a Nigerian scam.

• 25:11Speaker 07

I mean, it's like, it's the original scam, right?

• 25:13Laci Mosley?

Johnny, yeah, it's, it's, it's one of the scam mechas.

• 25:16Speaker 07

It's the Dutch East India Trading Company.

• 25:19Laci Mosley?

Oh, okay, you spin. Well, Walsh agreed to have Bree X, that's the company with the X, fund John's expedition by selling the promise of the mine to potential investors. So now they're going to dinners. Now they have a steak and they're like, hey, hey, hey, John buddy. Okay, now that the wives are in the bathroom, let's talk.

• 25:42Speaker 07

Let's talk about Hock to a coin. That's all this is, right? It's the same thing. It's the same as hock to a coin.

• 25:50Laci Mosley?

It is. Oh, that's so revelatory, John. God. And so he sold BreeX's North American mineral interest, and they pulled together like $150,000 to pay for the acquisition of Borneo site. And they began to do this like exploration work, right? So this is a new site. This is where they're setting up.

• 26:10Speaker 07

Yep, they're getting the coins ready.

• 26:12Laci Mosley?

So in a newspaper interview, Walsh said, "I'm looking for the bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow." Well, rainbows aren't real, so... I mean, they are real, but there's no gold or leprechaun.

• 26:26Speaker 07

There's no leprechauns, just Cillian Murphy.

• 26:29Laci Mosley?

So two months after the small operation began drilling, project manager and Filipino mining prospector, Michael de Guzman, reported that they had hit the jackpot. Michael had been born on Valentine's Day and definitely acted like it. This is Michael.

• 26:49Speaker 07

What does that mean to act like you're born on Valentine's Day?

• 26:52Laci Mosley?

  He's a Casanova.

• 26:53Speaker 07

Ah, this guy, okay. He's a ladies' man.

• 26:56Laci Mosley?

Look at that mustache, that mustachio. You have a mustache.

• 26:59Speaker 07

  I do, yeah.

• 27:00Laci Mosley?

  Are you a Casanova?

• 27:02Speaker 07

  I don't know. I mean, I don't know if that qualifies.

• 27:04Laci Mosley?

I don't like how you said, "I don't know." It feels like you might be.

• 27:08Speaker 07

Well, I don't think it's for me to judge. How about that?

• 27:12Speaker 07

I think a self-proclaimed Casanova is about as bad as it gets.

• 27:15Laci Mosley?

Oh, no. I feel like you've had some people end up in some situations where they wanted to key your car, haven't you?

• 27:23Speaker 07

Oh, maybe a long time ago. Long time ago. Yeah, no Carrie Underwood.

• 27:28Laci Mosley?

  Wait, hands.

• 27:29Speaker 07

  Yes, married, so.

• 27:30Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 27:31Speaker 07

  Yeah, long time ago.

• 27:32Laci Mosley?

So, okay. But Casanova to your wife still?

• 27:35Speaker 07

Sure, yeah. I think she would agree with that. She would.

• 27:38Laci Mosley?

  You better go Casahova, like...

• 27:40Speaker 07

  Casahova? Casa Hova right now.

• 27:44Laci Mosley?

You better go Casa Hova her tonight.

• 27:46Speaker 07

  Yeah, I will.

• 27:47Laci Mosley?

  Period.

• 27:48Speaker 07

Why? Cause it didn't say I'm a Casanova?

• 27:50Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 27:51Speaker 07

I don't know if that, I'm sorry, but we live in different worlds, I guess. I don't think that qualifies. I'm definitely not gonna say I'm a Casanova. That's like saying you're like-

• 27:58Laci Mosley?

Well, no, yeah, you can't because you-

• 28:00Speaker 07

  This guy, this guy-

• 28:02Laci Mosley?

This guy, I, I feel like he has, we'll post it on the Instagram. No, no, no, no. I think he has ultimate game. Like, ain't nothing about him physically attractive.

• 28:12Speaker 07

  Right.

• 28:13Laci Mosley?

But I bet you, if you met him in person, the riz, like, might take you over.

• 28:20Speaker 07

  Maybe.

• 28:21Laci Mosley?

And, and the next thing you know, you laying up next to him in the morning, like, how did I get here? Like, I don't know, I feel like he got that.

• 28:28Speaker 07

I'm getting Bruno Mars energy from him. Yeah, I don't know much about Bruno Mars, except that I know he likes to gamble.

• 28:33Laci Mosley?

  Yeah, he does.

• 28:34Speaker 07

  He loves to gamble.

• 28:36Laci Mosley?

So he got that Vegas residency and he trying to make it allegedly.

• 28:39Speaker 07

I don't know if he got that Vegas residency as much. They're like, hey, you're doing a Vegas residency. Cause we owe us a lot of money. I say that as a joke, but I think that's true.

• 28:49Laci Mosley?

Why did you think he's singing and dancing for the Pops Casino? He ain't even-

• 28:52Speaker 07

Absolutely. I think he's in debt up to his eyeballs and they're like, okay, so you're gonna be here for the next six years, bitch. You're gonna be doing this, whether you like it or not, because you are in debt. I mean-

• 29:04Laci Mosley?

He lost his plate. Vegas Casino was like, don't believe it, just watch. Like, no.

• 29:10Speaker 07

Yeah. Don't believe it, just watch. He's like, oh, don't, he bet on red and it was black and he's like, okay, well, I guess you don't believe me and now it's-

• 29:19Laci Mosley?

It's time to watch, it's time to watch.

• 29:21Speaker 07

Isn't what happens to all those guys? It's like you, soon as you get super rich, you just end up spending more than you have because you don't know how much you have. And next thing you know, you're like in debt in a way you didn't know was even possible.

• 29:32Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 29:33Speaker 07

Especially if you're like tangential to any mafia at all, you know? Cause they pick up on that and they know that you've got money and they're gonna like befriend you and make you-

• 29:42Laci Mosley?

And if you're reckless with it, because a lot of times, like, when you're really rich like that, the money comes in very quickly.

• 29:48Speaker 07

Very fast and it amounts, you don't understand.

• 29:51Laci Mosley?

  No.

• 29:51Speaker 07

Yeah. The best way to stay rich is not make any money.

• 29:55Laci Mosley?

  Also to keep your money.

• 29:57Speaker 07

Keep your money, it's be anonymous. Like, I mean, it happened to like a lot of people.

• 30:01Laci Mosley?

I wanna be like one of those like New Balance rich people in like a $5,000 t-shirt and nobody knows who I am or what I do.

• 30:10Speaker 07

Like every billionaire, basically. No one knows who the U R. There's like only a few billionaires people actually know about.

• 30:14Laci Mosley?

But if I become a billionaire, I have to kill some people. That's like a part of it.

• 30:19Speaker 07

I think you definitely do, yeah. Hundred percent.

• 30:20Laci Mosley?

And like even if people are like, oh, well, I didn't actually kill him. I'm like, they died on your watch. Like you, you were involved.

• 30:28Speaker 07

Yeah, you had a little touch of blood on you. Some speckles.

• 30:31Laci Mosley?

Yeah. I don't, I don't want that. So maybe not. I don't wanna go to Congress. I wanna just be successful and chill.

• 30:41Speaker 07

  Well, you're doing it, right?

• 30:42Laci Mosley?

Yeah, I am. I actually am.

• 30:44Speaker 07

You already did it. There you go.

• 30:45Laci Mosley?

Yeah, but I don't wanna tell people about it.

• 30:47Speaker 07

Too late, you just did, you know, I'm on the microphone right now.

• 30:49Laci Mosley?

This is our secret. Like, don't, don't, don't worry about that.

• 30:52Speaker 07

Okay, well, don't tell anyone about me either, okay?

• 30:53Laci Mosley?

I fucking know what you going on.

• 30:54Speaker 07

Do you really? I don't think you do.

• 30:55Laci Mosley?

You're Casanova with a wife and all your monies. Yeah, I know what you got going on.

• 30:59Speaker 07

I got my money hidden really good.

• 31:01Laci Mosley?

  I've been snooping.

• 31:02Speaker 07

  I don't, I don't, I have my money, I had it real good.

• 31:06Laci Mosley?

  You had it real good?

• 31:07Speaker 07

  I'm undercover.

• 31:07Laci Mosley?

  Offshore?

• 31:09Speaker 07

  I don't even know if it's on a shore.

• 31:10Laci Mosley?

  Oh, not offshore?

• 31:11Speaker 07

  It's on, there's no.

• 31:12Laci Mosley?

You don't even know if it's on a shore?

• 31:13Speaker 07

  It's in space.

• 31:14Laci Mosley?

Hmm, okay, okay, mercury money. Let's go.

• 31:17Speaker 07

• 33:11Speaker 14

AI now moves from somebody operating a system to the technology actually making decisions. So you have to have a much better visibility of what AI is touching, data it is accessing, and where.

• 34:31Laci Mosley?

We're getting back into this. So to refresh y'all, because we've jumped. So remember, we got this project going.

• 34:40Speaker 07

  It's criminals.

• 34:41Laci Mosley?

John thinks it's a gold mine, right? He hires these people. He's got this small operation. Michael De Guzman, the Filipino man, he thinks he hit the jackpot.

• 34:52Speaker 07

  He's running the mining operations.

• 34:53Laci Mosley?

Mm-hmm. And Michael, you know, it was more on Valentine's Day. We saw his Casanova. He had four wives.

• 35:00Speaker 07

  Oh, my God.

• 35:01Laci Mosley?

Nine children. At all the same time, across different countries, who did not know about each other. He was known for wearing lots of gold, drinking beer, hanging out at strip clubs, doing karaoke, and as well for being an experienced geologist.

• 35:20Speaker 07

Oh, my God. This is the guy, the reason he's an experienced geologist is because he has to make enough money to pay for all those kids. He was a philanderer first, then he became a geologist to pay for everything.

• 35:32Laci Mosley?

It was like, how am I going to support my four wives and nine kids?

• 35:34Speaker 07

  God.

• 35:35Laci Mosley?

  Geology?

• 35:36Speaker 07

That sounds like the worst life ever. Casanova.

• 35:40Laci Mosley?

And also, like, how do you have time to be at the strip club? Like, they have excellent wings. They do have great wings.

• 35:46Speaker 07

  Do they?

• 35:47Laci Mosley?

Well, Magic City, yeah, they got some good wings down there.

• 35:50Speaker 07

  Where is that?

• 35:50Laci Mosley?

One time, I was at the strip club in Houston, and I was with a football player, who was like playing for a professional team. I'm not going to say beyond that.

• 35:59Speaker 07

Tell me later. I got to know.

• 36:00Laci Mosley?

Yeah. But he was like, hey, I'm going to give y'all some ones. The stripper who's coming over to our section, we went to high school together. See, I'll make sure y'all tip her well.

• 36:11Speaker 07

  Oh my god.

• 36:12Laci Mosley?

Like, some people just be hanging out in the strip club.

• 36:14Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 36:15Laci Mosley?

And the wings were real good, and she was shaking that ass, and we was, I was, I was eating on some flats, and it was, it was a time.

• 36:21Speaker 07

Dry, dry rub, what we talking about here? What kind of wings?

• 36:24Laci Mosley?

  Okay, so it was dry-

• 36:25Speaker 07

I'm a wing aficionado. I make my own wings. I make the best wings.

• 36:28Laci Mosley?

  Oh, you make wings?

• 36:29Speaker 07

I make like, I think the best wings I've, I've ever had, personally.

• 36:32Laci Mosley?

Ooh, okay, I want some of your wings. Cause like, I'm more of an Asian style, like, I like a sweet and spicy.

• 36:38Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 36:38Laci Mosley?

But this was like buffalo and lemon pepper.

• 36:42Speaker 07

Lemon pepper, I do a cilantro lime, which is like lemon pepper.

• 36:45Laci Mosley?

  I love cilantro.

• 36:47Speaker 07

Oh my god, I love it so much.

• 36:48Laci Mosley?

I feel so bad for the people who taste it and it tastes like soap. What's wrong?

• 36:53Speaker 07

  More for us.

• 36:54Laci Mosley?

Yeah, more cilantro. More cilantro for us.

• 36:56Speaker 07

  I'll take it.

• 36:57Laci Mosley?

  Oh, it's so good.

• 36:58Speaker 07

I can eat so much cilantro, it's ridiculous.

• 37:00Laci Mosley?

I can too. I just be buying it by the bushel.

• 37:03Speaker 07

I love it. You should grow it. You should grow it, it's easy to grow. At a certain time of the year, it's easy to grow, yeah.

• 37:08Laci Mosley?

  Okay.

• 37:09Speaker 07

  Just chop it down fresh.

• 37:11Laci Mosley?

  Well, this man-

• 37:12Speaker 07

This man is not doing that. This man is-

• 37:14Laci Mosley?

No, he doesn't have time to grow cilantro because he's busy with four wives and nine kids.

• 37:19Speaker 07

  Jeez.

• 37:20Laci Mosley?

And wearing lots of gold, and also being at the strip club, and doing karaoke, which I think is whimsical. I like that he's doing karaoke.

• 37:30Speaker 07

  Karaoke's the best.

• 37:31Laci Mosley?

So, I, I like, I like this guy's vibes so far. Like, Michael, you on my team a little bit. So, in nineteen ninety-four, Michael brought John, remember John is the investor who wants to make the money, and BreeX businessman, like, some crushed core samples, basically like, centrical samples of soil and rock in the area, and the river, with enough little bits of gold in them that indicated that BreeX may have just purchased one of the largest gold deposits ever discovered. So this man, I love him for his whimsy because he literally brought them some dirt. He was like, here's some dirt, and look, it's some shiny stuff in there.

• 38:12Speaker 07

He ground up a bracelet and put some gold in there.

• 38:15Laci Mosley?

But he was like, look at the dirt though. I got this from the land, y'all. Look at the dirt. First estimates based on Michael's examples said that there might be over a hundred and thirty-six thousand pounds of gold buried deep in the jungle.

• 38:28Speaker 07

  That's a lot of gold.

• 38:29Laci Mosley?

  It's a lot of gold.

• 38:30Speaker 07

That's a million dollars, probably. It's probably a million dollars. It might be-

• 38:34Laci Mosley?

  And depending on-

• 38:35Speaker 07

  Two million.

• 38:35Laci Mosley?

Gold fluctuates with the economy, so- So, a year later, Michael's core sample estimates had gone up to 2 million pounds. Now you know the pound is stronger than the dollar. And in 1997, they more than doubled, reaching almost 5 million pounds of rumored gold hiding just beneath the surface of this Borneo mine.

• 39:00Speaker 07

It's right there in Borneo. You can get it.

• 39:03Laci Mosley?

Go get it. It's right. Come on. In a final estimate given during a conference call with investors from JP Morgan, John Fetterhoff, he suggested that there could be over 13 million pounds of gold waiting to be dug up. So remember, we went from 136,000 pounds.

• 39:21Speaker 07

  To 13 million pounds.

• 39:23Laci Mosley?

  To 5 million.

• 39:24Speaker 07

  My god.

• 39:24Laci Mosley?

  To 13 million pounds.

• 39:27Speaker 07

And as of right now, a pound of gold is worth like $80,000. So that's over a million dollars worth of gold.

• 39:32Laci Mosley?

  Oh, wait, wait.

• 39:33Speaker 07

I think it's more than a million, yeah.

• 39:34Laci Mosley?

  Wait.

• 39:35Speaker 07

I'm just kidding. Yeah, it's probably a lot.

• 39:37Laci Mosley?

  Wait.

• 39:38Speaker 07

  It's a million dollars.

• 39:39Laci Mosley?

And then, in three years since, the gold had been discovered. A bustling mining town had even sprung up on the site with its own church and school. You know, when you get a church and a school involved, you really got a town. Because the children yearn for the mines.

• 39:56Speaker 07

Yeah, kids love working in mines. That's a scam too. Kids love working in mines.

• 40:00Laci Mosley?

  Kids love working in mines.

• 40:01Speaker 07

They love it. It's so much fun.

• 40:03Laci Mosley?

Like, what is a playground but a mine that we created for children to remember how they love working in mines?

• 40:08Speaker 07

  Just an above-ground mine. What's a sandbox? It's just a kind of a mine.

• 40:11Laci Mosley?

It's a mine. We gotta get them back in the mines. That's where they want to be.

• 40:15Speaker 07

  Mines, so does kids.

• 40:16Laci Mosley?

And they're small. They can get in the cracks and the crevices. Like, we need them back in the mines.

• 40:20Speaker 07

  They love crevices.

• 40:22Laci Mosley?

  Kids love crevices.

• 40:24Speaker 07

Kids love crevices. That's my new nonprofit.

• 40:26Laci Mosley?

  Kids love crevices.

• 40:27Speaker 07

Kids and crevices. Kids for Crevices. We're sponsoring Trump's third term.

• 40:32Laci Mosley?

Yeah, we're doing a fun walk.

• 40:35Speaker 07

We're doing a fun crevice walk for kids. That's more of a crawl.

• 40:39Laci Mosley?

  It's more of a crawl.

• 40:39Speaker 07

  It is a crawl.

• 40:40Laci Mosley?

It is a crevice crawl. So when Bree X, remember our company here? They first purchased the Borneo land. Their stocks were selling around thirty cents a piece. But as the tales of their insane discovery grew, their nearly worthless stock rose to around two hundred fifty dollars a share.

• 41:02Speaker 07

  What?

• 41:02Laci Mosley?

Thanks to forty thousand new investors.

• 41:05Speaker 07

  That's a huge increase, damn.

• 41:07Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 41:07Speaker 07

  Time to sell it.

• 41:08Laci Mosley?

And this brought the value of the company to what would be six billion dollars in today's money.

• 41:14Speaker 07

  Damn.

• 41:15Laci Mosley?

  At the time, Lehman Brothers.

• 41:18Speaker 07

My favorite of all the brothers.

• 41:19Laci Mosley?

Oh, my God, I love the Lehman Brothers.

• 41:21Speaker 07

One of my favorite banks that's definitely still around today.

• 41:24Laci Mosley?

  Lehman Brothers.

• 41:27Speaker 07

Well, isn't Lehman Brothers the reason we had the two thousand eight financial crisis?

• 41:30Laci Mosley?

Yeah, and we love them for that.

• 41:32Speaker 07

Thank you, guys, so much for making my rent go down.

• 41:35Laci Mosley?

  The coolest guys.

• 41:37Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 41:37Laci Mosley?

Will never be able to own anything. That's so cool. Thank you so much.

• 41:43Speaker 07

  Subprime!

• 41:44Laci Mosley?

Subprime, baby! So, the global financial firm whose bankruptcy sped up the subprime mortgage crisis of two thousand and eight, Johnny, yes.

• 41:56Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 41:57Laci Mosley?

They called Bree X, they called it the gold discovery of the century. They strongly recommended their investors buy Bree X stock because Lehman Brothers-

• 42:06Speaker 07

Gary Glenn Ross kind of thing.

• 42:08Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 42:08Speaker 07

You gotta buy this. It's a hot property.

• 42:10Laci Mosley?

Ooh, yeah, get it, get it.

• 42:12Speaker 07

  God.

• 42:13Laci Mosley?

And Michael De Guzman, our Filipino Casanova-

• 42:16Speaker 07

  Four wives.

• 42:17Laci Mosley?

With the four wives and the nine kids. He became a millionaire four times over, having cashed in stock options. So he knew when to get in and get out, and I'm not mad at that. You got kids to take care of. You got nine of them. You got nine? Go, go take care of them, babies.

• 42:32Speaker 07

  I'm sure he did not-

• 42:33Laci Mosley?

You a Nick Cannon of the scamming, gold mining world. Like, you gotta go take care of your kids.

• 42:39Speaker 07

Do you think those kids got taken care of, though?

• 42:41Laci Mosley?

  I feel like-

• 42:42Speaker 07

  I bet they didn't.

• 42:43Laci Mosley?

They may not get, like, like, um, like, physical parent love, but they at least get some money. They get some coin.

• 42:49Speaker 07

I bet he spent it all.

• 42:50Laci Mosley?

I think he gave some back to his babies, because he feels like a little arrogant enough that he's like-

• 42:55Speaker 07

Wants to take care of them?

• 42:56Laci Mosley?

Well, he needs the legacy to continue.

• 42:59Speaker 07

I don't know. That guy strikes me as a real piece of shit.

• 43:02Laci Mosley?

  Do you have kids?

• 43:03Speaker 07

  No kids now.

• 43:04Laci Mosley?

I don't have no kids either.

• 43:06Speaker 07

  Yep, no kids.

• 43:07Laci Mosley?

No kids. Are you gonna get some?

• 43:10Speaker 07

I'm gonna get some. I'm gonna, once I get my gold, once I um.

• 43:13Laci Mosley?

  Once you get your gold.

• 43:14Speaker 07

Once my gold mine goes online.

• 43:16Laci Mosley?

  Okay.

• 43:17Speaker 07

Then I can get some kids, work, work, because I have kids to work there.

• 43:20Laci Mosley?

I feel like you would be good with some unemployed roommates, like.

• 43:24Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 43:24Laci Mosley?

Yeah, they're just gonna be sucking off your resources and, and then eventually they'll like get weird and smelly and ugly and then they'll get cute again, but they'll be mean to you.

• 43:34Speaker 07

This sounds like you have experience with this. Whatever you're telling there, that story sounds like it's ripped from your life, not a, not mine.

• 43:42Laci Mosley?

Oh, it's called being the oldest sister.

• 43:43Speaker 07

Okay, I'm the oldest brother, so same thing, yeah.

• 43:46Laci Mosley?

Yeah, you gotta stand in the gap. And you're like, what are you doing, bro?

• 43:50Speaker 07

You're the experiment for your parents.

• 43:52Laci Mosley?

  Oh, fuck, absolutely the experiment.

• 43:55Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 43:55Laci Mosley?

  So, back to.

• 43:57Speaker 07

This Guzman guy, he sells his stock, he makes a bunch of money.

• 44:00Laci Mosley?

A bunch of money. David Walsh, remember David Walsh?

• 44:04Speaker 07

  With the 10K.

• 44:05Laci Mosley?

  Mm-hmm.

• 44:06Speaker 07

But now he's got a, he's nice by flush now.

• 44:08Laci Mosley?

Now, now things are like going his way. So his personal fortune reached 250 million dollars, this David Walsh. BreeX was trading on the Alberta Stock Exchange more than 155 dollars per share. It was worth as little as 12 cents per share in 1993. So they big up.

• 44:29Speaker 07

  Damn.

• 44:30Laci Mosley?

Indonesian President Suharto took an interest in the massive windfall that had been discovered in his country. First, he revoked BreeX's approval to exploit the land. He said the company was too small to mine the area by itself. Honestly, I'm not mad at that, because like, y'all coming into my country and look at him, he's standing on business. He was like, y'all don't come into my country to steal all my shit. Like, what? No, if this, if there's some wealth here, it's for us, which.

• 45:01Speaker 07

But there isn't any, is there?

• 45:03Laci Mosley?

  I mean.

• 45:05Laci Mosley?

Eventually, Surharto and Breex worked out a deal for shares of the mine to be split between Breex and the government of Indonesia and a more established US mining company, Freeport McRohan Copper and Gold. This meant that Freeport would need to independently verify that there was gold at the site.

• 45:25Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 45:26Laci Mosley?

So now, they were like, alright, Surharto was like, "Bro, y'all can't come here and just drill on my shit. I own this land, like, the fuck." And the US was like, "Are you kidding me? Like, we're the colonizer of the world. We go where the money is and we take it. Like, what do you mean, give it to us? Don't make us do a war to you, like..."

• 45:44Speaker 07

  We're the best at it.

• 45:45Laci Mosley?

We're the best at it. You want us to have all of your things.

• 45:48Speaker 07

  Let us help you.

• 45:49Laci Mosley?

Let us help you by taking everything that you have of value.

• 45:52Speaker 07

  Mm-hmm.

• 45:53Laci Mosley?

And he was like, "I'm not playing that game." He was like, "Okay, let's come to a deal. We're gonna split this and let's get another company involved." So, the company that they got involved, Freeport McRohan and Copper and Gold, they're an independent contractor. Uh-oh.

• 46:08Speaker 07

  Uh-oh.

• 46:10Laci Mosley?

'Cause now they go and they survey the land.

• 46:13Speaker 07

  There's nothing there.

• 46:14Laci Mosley?

  Yes, not any.

• 46:15Speaker 07

Just a bunch of monkey shit and like some pandas and like...

• 46:20Speaker 07

There's like orangutans, right? Aren't there orangutans in Borneo?

• 46:24Speaker 07

Just a bunch of orangutans. Those are pretty cool, though.

• 46:26Laci Mosley?

Ain't shit there. Nothing, nothing, no things. So, Michael, our Casanova,

• 46:34Speaker 07

  Right.

• 46:34Laci Mosley?

  much like you.

• 46:36Speaker 07

  Sure, if you say so.

• 46:37Laci Mosley?

  Married Casanova.

• 46:38Speaker 07

  I'll take it.

• 46:39Laci Mosley?

You better still be a Casanova while you're married. You gotta keep it up. You gotta go on dates. You gotta keep the spark alive.

• 46:45Speaker 07

  Okay, I will.

• 46:47Laci Mosley?

  Alright, Johnny.

• 46:47Speaker 07

Jeez. I've been traveling a lot, okay?

• 46:51Laci Mosley?

Yeah, well, you better get you some outfits or something and have a little candlelight dinner or something.

• 46:57Speaker 07

I know, I was out of town for a long time. I was out of town working on a movie. I was...

• 47:00Laci Mosley?

Well, now you back in town.

• 47:01Speaker 07

I'm back, but I... okay. I'll make dinner tonight. I will. I'll make dinner.

• 47:06Laci Mosley?

Spaghetti is easy. You can make some spaghetti. And, and here's a trick for men...

• 47:10Speaker 07

What if she doesn't want spaghetti?

• 47:11Laci Mosley?

Here's a trick for men. Get some Italian sausage instead of the regular ground beef. Do Italian sausage.

• 47:18Speaker 07

She doesn't like sausage, like, she doesn't like, you know...

• 47:20Laci Mosley?

  Clearly, she likes some sausage.

• 47:21Speaker 07

Well, yeah, some, for sure. It's not Italian, though. It's like something else, American sausage. Mixed American sausage.

• 47:32Laci Mosley?

Michael has been sprinkling his core examples with gold dust.

• 47:36Speaker 07

  I knew it, called it.

• 47:38Laci Mosley?

Yup, and like also like, why would y'all just be believing somebody who just came in and was like, "Here's a cup of dirt, it's from that place."

• 47:47Speaker 07

  Finger on the scale.

• 47:48Laci Mosley?

What? Be serious, everybody be serious.

• 47:52Speaker 07

You never believe a guy who has currently more than one wife.

• 47:56Laci Mosley?

  He got four.

• 47:56Speaker 07

  You cannot believe that guy.

• 47:58Laci Mosley?

So, Michael, you know, he had his gold dust and dirt, which honestly, goal of mine to just show up with some dirt and be like, "Hey, this is from where I said it's from, y'all, y'all going in bed?"

• 48:13Speaker 07

  They'll believe you.

• 48:15Laci Mosley?

I feel like I could make them believe me.

• 48:16Speaker 07

Yeah, but you do host a podcast called Scam Goddess.

• 48:19Laci Mosley?

  Oh, yeah.

• 48:20Speaker 07

That might sort of be worse than having multiple wives in different countries, as far as like...

• 48:25Laci Mosley?

  You think?

• 48:26Speaker 07

I think it's gonna be, they're gonna be like, okay.

• 48:28Laci Mosley?

I warn people against scams, though. It's a very out in the open.

• 48:31Speaker 07

Yeah, what is it, takes one to know one kind of thing?

• 48:34Laci Mosley?

  Damn, you're not wrong.

• 48:36Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 48:37Laci Mosley?

But you don't gotta be so loud.

• 48:41Laci Mosley?

So, Michael, he got his dust gold. At first, he used shavings from his own wedding ring.

• 48:47Speaker 07

Whoa, I called it, I said bracelet, but that's still a cylindrical thing.

• 48:51Laci Mosley?

  You were close!

• 48:52Speaker 07

Goes on a hand. Also, a wedding ring.

• 48:55Laci Mosley?

John, come over here with me, come over here with me.

• 48:57Speaker 07

  A wedding ring.

• 48:57Laci Mosley?

You with me, you with me.

• 49:01Speaker 07

I'm over here. Yeah, wedding ring, that's completely like, that's so, that's such a thing for him to do, too. What a bastard.

• 49:09Laci Mosley?

Right, and which wedding is this ring from?

• 49:13Speaker 07

He probably has one that he tells each of the wives that's the only one he has.

• 49:17Laci Mosley?

Crazy, and how much gold is on your wedding ring that you could do this? Like, what, later he used $61,000 worth of locally plant, like, panned gold. He used it in realistic ratios of gold to rock to not set off alarm bells. That's kind of smart.

• 49:32Speaker 07

  Yep.

• 49:33Laci Mosley?

And to keep the project going forward, sprinkling value metals, gemstones, particularly like gold or diamonds. Into the core samples from a mine to inflate the apparent value of the deposit. It's called salting.

• 49:48Speaker 07

  Ooh, that's a good scam.

• 49:49Laci Mosley?

  There's a name.

• 49:50Speaker 07

It's fraud, I guess, right? It's the biggest fraud you can pull in mineral exploration.

• 49:54Laci Mosley?

Yeah, but salting sounds so cute.

• 49:55Speaker 07

  Salting, I'm just salting.

• 49:57Laci Mosley?

  I'm just salting.

• 49:58Speaker 07

We're just doing a little salting, no big deal.

• 49:59Laci Mosley?

Y'all want flavor, right? I'm not doing crime, just a little.

• 50:03Speaker 07

  Just salting.

• 50:03Laci Mosley?

You gotta do like the salt babe, just a little, mm.

• 50:06Speaker 07

  Wow.

• 50:07Laci Mosley?

A little salting. And it's the biggest fraud you can pull in mineral exploration. Other geologists have taken a look at the samples and raised suspicions. The gold flecks in the soil were rounded, which usually only happens to gold in an aquatic environment where water current, like the water current erodes the shape.

• 50:29Speaker 07

  Interesting, yes.

• 50:30Laci Mosley?

  Yeah, not in the soil.

• 50:32Speaker 07

  Right, right.

• 50:32Laci Mosley?

So it should be more jagged.

• 50:34Speaker 07

Yeah, like a rock, like beach glass.

• 50:37Laci Mosley?

Where gold rock is. But their reservations didn't stop Brex from becoming a six billion dollar company and from their executives becoming millionaires overnight. That was beautiful.

• 50:51Speaker 07

  Yeah, we harmonized.

• 50:52Laci Mosley?

The Freeport partnership was finalized in February of nineteen ninety seven. And shortly after that, the record keeping room where the core samples were stored at the Brex headquarters in.

• 51:04Speaker 07

Borneo. It burned down in a mysterious fire. Oh, that's weird, a mysterious fire. Weird, a mysterious fire. I've never heard of that ever happening.

• 51:13Laci Mosley?

You know how fires be mysterious.

• 51:15Speaker 07

Yeah, all fires are so mysterious, especially when they happen in a convenient place.

• 51:20Laci Mosley?

And a convenient time. It was time for a fire.

• 51:24Speaker 07

Well, what they call it, Greek lightning? You ever heard that term?

• 51:27Laci Mosley?

  Mm-mm.

• 51:28Speaker 07

Or Italian lightning? It's like what they'd say when like the mob would burn down a business so they could cash in on the insurance.

• 51:33Laci Mosley?

  Oh.

• 51:34Speaker 07

  Called Greek lightning.

• 51:35Laci Mosley?

  Greek lightning.

• 51:37Speaker 07

That might be a derogatory term, but I just said it.

• 51:41Laci Mosley?

No, I mean, no, no, it's, it's, I'm sure, we're looking at it anthropologically.

• 51:46Speaker 07

Yeah, the Greeks can handle it. They've been around long enough. They can handle it.

• 51:49Laci Mosley?

  They'll be fine. So.

• 51:52Laci Mosley?

  They had their Greek lightning.

• 51:54Speaker 07

  Mm hmm.

• 51:54Laci Mosley?

And as the deal was finalized, Michael, our sexy guy, John, our desperate guy who put in the 10K, but then became a millionaire, and other BreeX executives attended a mining conference in Toronto. The weeks leading up to the Canadian trip, Michael, our lover boy, called his mother several times, saying evil spirits were invading him.

• 52:17Speaker 07

Oh, that sucked. I hate when that happens. When evil spirits invade me, it's one of the worst. It's one of the worst things. I always call my mom.

• 52:24Laci Mosley?

  Inconvenient.

• 52:25Speaker 07

  Yeah, I call my mom.

• 52:26Laci Mosley?

To be like, I need to get gas, evil spirits.

• 52:29Speaker 07

  Oh.

• 52:30Laci Mosley?

Why y'all invading me right now?

• 52:31Speaker 07

Oh, so evil spirits forgot, they forgot to pay the child support. The evil spirits did that.

• 52:37Laci Mosley?

I'm on a date, evil spirits. Y'all gonna invade me right now?

• 52:40Speaker 07

Yeah. Oh, I have diarrhea. What's evil spirits again?

• 52:44Laci Mosley?

No, that's when they leaving you.

• 52:45Speaker 07

Well, yeah, or it could be, you know, I have spirits go all ways. I get invaded by spirits in many different ways.

• 52:53Laci Mosley?

I'm tired of getting invaded by evil spirits. Honestly, I'm with Michael on this. Like, this makes total sense to me. So, his mother later told investigators, "Look at my body. They're using black magic on me."

• 53:09Speaker 07

Oh, cool. Yeah, the investigators will definitely.

• 53:10Laci Mosley?

Pray for me, mom. They want to kill me.

• 53:13Speaker 07

This guy's all got busted, right?

• 53:15Laci Mosley?

  So, while contemplating, now, remember.

• 53:19Speaker 07

  Right.

• 53:19Laci Mosley?

Michael, the lover boy, calls his mama and he says, "I'm in danger, girl. I feel like they trying to kill me. They're trying to kill your favorite bitch. Pray for me, mom."

• 53:28Speaker 07

  That's desperation right there.

• 53:29Laci Mosley?

So while contemplating death, probably because he knew his scheme would be soon to be found out, he was living it up in Toronto. Almost every night, he went to a local strip club. You know, he love a strip club. You know, he a lover boy. He went to the strip club called For Your Eyes Only. Now, let's look at this. It's a brick and mortar building. It don't look like nobody need to be naked up in there. Like, I'm sorry, this is not an establishment where I'm gonna take my clothes off.

• 53:56Speaker 07

Does not look like a very fun place.

• 53:58Laci Mosley?

Sex work is work. I'm not saying.

• 54:00Speaker 07

Probably no wings. No wings there.

• 54:02Laci Mosley?

No wings. No, yeah, no. I'm not getting booty naked up in there. Like, something is off. So, Michael is drowning his sorrows in this strip club, brick and mortar, For Your Eyes Only.

• 54:16Laci Mosley?

And he made a friendship with an exotic dancer.

• 54:19Speaker 07

  Oh, that's interesting.

• 54:20Laci Mosley?

Yeah, he took her flowers and proposed unsuccessfully, trying to make her his fifth wife. Now, you know, he got four wives already and he was like, I need another wife. I feel like this man has an existential crisis and gets a wife.

• 54:34Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 54:35Laci Mosley?

He's like, oh, God, everything's going bad. I need a wife. I need to go get another wife.

• 54:39Speaker 07

Like, someone else buys a bunch of donuts, this guy gets a wife.

• 54:43Laci Mosley?

Yeah, someone cuts in front of him in line and he's like, I need another wife.

• 54:46Speaker 07

  I need a new wife.

• 54:48Laci Mosley?

  I can't, I can't live like this.

• 54:51Speaker 07

  God.

• 54:51Laci Mosley?

  That's definitely what he doing.

• 54:53Speaker 07

He's stacking his problems. He's like exponentially creating problems for himself.

• 54:56Laci Mosley?

I need another wife. I got nine kids, four wives. I need a fifth wife. So, we have a content warning here.

• 55:03Speaker 07

Ooh, I love a content warning.

• 55:05Laci Mosley?

As we reach the conclusion. So, a month later, on March 19th, it gets a little dark.

• 55:12Speaker 07

  Okay, I like dark.

• 55:14Laci Mosley?

  Michael fell or was pushed.

• 55:18Speaker 07

  Right.

• 55:18Laci Mosley?

We don't know, from a helicopter.

• 55:21Speaker 07

Oh, people always fall out of helicopters all the time.

• 55:24Laci Mosley?

It's trip and fall out of helicopter.

• 55:27Speaker 07

Yeah, it's one of the most common deaths, actually.

• 55:30Laci Mosley?

  So, he, while flying over.

• 55:32Speaker 07

  Borneo.

• 55:33Laci Mosley?

  Thank you.

• 55:35Speaker 07

Probably got pulled out by an orangutan.

• 55:37Laci Mosley?

  Flying over.

• 55:39Speaker 07

  They're strong.

• 55:40Laci Mosley?

The Borneo jungle on the way to a due diligence meeting with the Freeport officials, to the mineral people. His body was reportedly identified by a molar.

• 55:52Speaker 07

  A molar? What's that?

• 55:54Laci Mosley?

  A tooth.

• 55:54Speaker 07

Oh, a tooth. I thought it was a guy, like, I'm a molar, you know, I do.

• 55:57Laci Mosley?

  No, a molar, a tooth.

• 55:59Speaker 07

  Okay, by a tooth, Jesus.

• 56:01Laci Mosley?

That was like, this him, and it was a tooth.

• 56:03Speaker 07

The last gold one he had.

• 56:05Laci Mosley?

Honestly, I love humans in that way because how did we figure out that we could just have one tooth and be like, oh, I know who this is. It's Michael. This one tooth is Michael. We know who he is. No, this is tooth. Remember, we had that tooth in his mouth.

• 56:17Speaker 07

So, I gotta take the teeth out and cut the hands off before you dispose of a body.

• 56:21Laci Mosley?

  Period.

• 56:21Speaker 07

  That's what I always do.

• 56:23Laci Mosley?

  Same.

• 56:24Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 56:25Laci Mosley?

Oh no, I can never kill anybody. It's too much work.

• 56:28Speaker 07

Well, you have someone else do the work. You kill them and then you have like a-

• 56:31Laci Mosley?

No, then there's a liability because somebody know you was in cahoots.

• 56:35Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 56:36Laci Mosley?

  You can't be in cahoots.

• 56:37Speaker 07

  I hate being in cahoots.

• 56:39Laci Mosley?

I hate being in cahoots. It's ghetto.

• 56:42Speaker 07

That's a good bar name, Cahoots.

• 56:44Laci Mosley?

Hmm, maybe like a lesbian bar. Cahoots.

• 56:47Speaker 07

  Yeah, Cahoots.

• 56:49Laci Mosley?

  That could be cute.

• 56:50Speaker 07

  Cahoots?

• 56:53Laci Mosley?

  Ironic.

• 56:54Speaker 07

  This guy died.

• 56:55Laci Mosley?

And they found a thumbprint after wild animals had ravaged the rest of his body.

• 57:04Speaker 07

  They mined him.

• 57:06Speaker 07

They mined him for his gold.

• 57:08Laci Mosley?

  Why would you say that?

• 57:09Speaker 07

Because that's what animals do, you know? Flesh is gold in the jungle.

• 57:13Laci Mosley?

Mine is crazy. Why would you say that?

• 57:15Speaker 07

  Well.

• 57:16Laci Mosley?

  Daddy!

• 57:17Speaker 07

  Yeah, content warning.

• 57:19Laci Mosley?

  Oh.

• 57:20Speaker 07

I gotta take it and use it. Use the content warning for all it's worth.

• 57:23Laci Mosley?

In the back of the helicopter, police found a plastic shopping bag containing two sets of handwritten notes. One addressed to Bernard Leode, a BreeX accountant whom Guzman barely knew.

• 57:37Speaker 07

  Hmm.

• 57:37Laci Mosley?

It's giving lover because you got four wives, you wanted five, sir. Are you gay? Are you gay? It's giving gay. I know when you're a part of the community. I know. That's why you ain't one of all them wives. You wanted a husband. But me.

• 57:55Speaker 07

  He needed one.

• 57:56Laci Mosley?

So, Michael indicated that he killed himself to escape the suffering of hepatitis B, even though he had just contracted the virus and medical documents suggested it was serious. Indonesian police ruled his death a suicide, but many questioned that conclusion and some questioned whether he was actually dead.

• 58:16Speaker 07

Oh, so maybe he dropped that molar in the jungle?

• 58:19Laci Mosley?

  The Tupac situation?

• 58:20Speaker 07

  Yeah. He's still alive?

• 58:22Laci Mosley?

Probably. I heard he on the islands.

• 58:25Speaker 07

  What islands?

• 58:25Laci Mosley?

  Don't ask me which.

• 58:27Speaker 07

Okay. Wouldn't he still be with Jada, though?

• 58:29Laci Mosley?

Oh, yeah, that would be sweet. Yeah, but before we know, they might be keeping stuff from us. We don't know.

• 58:37Speaker 07

I think they're definitely keeping stuff from us. I mean.

• 58:43Laci Mosley?

So maybe Michael is still alive.

• 58:45Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 58:46Laci Mosley?

We don't know. Days after Michael's suicide, Freeport reported that they had discovered no gold at the site, taking samples just over a meter from where BreeX had drilled. The jig wa- it was up.

• 58:59Speaker 07

  No gold, none gold.

• 59:01Laci Mosley?

And I think Michael was like.

• 59:02Speaker 07

  He knew it.

• 59:03Laci Mosley?

He was the one who bought the cup of dirt.

• 59:05Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 59:05Laci Mosley?

And he was like, damn, y'all gonna go look at the dirt that I made the cup of dirt with? And, and now y'all gonna know the dirt? And, and then you gonna know the dirt on the dirt? He couldn't take it. Honestly, one molar and nobody is giving. You took a tooth out and, and you took your money and you ran.

• 59:23Speaker 07

Maybe it's hard to do that though.

• 59:24Laci Mosley?

I think Michael might be alive.

• 59:25Speaker 07

That's a hard thing to do, to stay, stay hidden. That's like super difficult, especially if you like strip clubs that much. That's hard to stay low key. You could probably like last like two weeks and just like sweating in the corner like, oh, I gotta go to a strip club!

• 59:41Laci Mosley?

  Yeah, the strip club.

• 59:42Speaker 07

  It's popped immediately.

• 59:43Laci Mosley?

The strip club might be his demise. You're right.

• 59:46Speaker 07

It's hard to be in the run. It's like the hardest thing to do.

• 59:49Laci Mosley?

I mean, I think it can be pretty easy, but you're, the strip club allure of it all, like, no, because you need wings and, and booty.

• 59:58Speaker 07

This guy does for sure. This guy needs wings, booty and, uh, yeah, a lot.

• 1:00:02Laci Mosley?

He can't do it. So the aftermath, we're wrapping up here. BreeX collapsed. Duh.

• 1:00:08Speaker 07

  Surprise.

• 1:00:09Laci Mosley?

And its shares became worthless in one of the biggest stock scandals in Canadian history. And the biggest mining scandal of all time.

• 1:00:20Speaker 07

  Wow.

• 1:00:20Laci Mosley?

David Walsh, former president of BreeX, died of a brain aneurysm in the Bahamas in 1998. Yeah, because you're stressed out.

• 1:00:30Speaker 07

Yeah, all these guys end up dying of stress because they're just so.

• 1:00:33Laci Mosley?

What does it feel like to wonder?

• 1:00:37Laci Mosley?

  Every day.

• 1:00:38Speaker 07

  Mm hmm.

• 1:00:39Laci Mosley?

  If it's gonna fall apart.

• 1:00:40Speaker 07

Yeah, I think that's probably so stressful.

• 1:00:43Laci Mosley?

To wake up every day and wonder if people are gonna catch you.

• 1:00:47Speaker 07

Yeah, and they wanna kill you cuz you uh lost them tons and tons of money.

• 1:00:52Laci Mosley?

Yeah, some people wanna do the murders, yeah.

• 1:00:54Speaker 07

People care more about money than anything else.

• 1:00:56Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:57Speaker 07

It's like Bernie Madoff, people wanna hang him, you know?

• 1:00:59Laci Mosley?

  He did.

• 1:01:00Speaker 07

Oh, that's right, he died. He died in prison, alright?

• 1:01:02Laci Mosley?

  Mm hmm.

• 1:01:02Speaker 07

Yeah, but when he was alive, people were so angry at him.

• 1:01:05Laci Mosley?

  Mm hmm.

• 1:01:05Speaker 07

And all he did was like scam people who knew they were being scammed, you know what I mean?

• 1:01:10Laci Mosley?

Yeah, he like misinvested people's fortunes, misinvested by keeping it. But, you know, yeah, they wanted his head. Financial crimes get some of the harshest sentencings because.

• 1:01:22Speaker 07

  It's pretty sad.

• 1:01:22Laci Mosley?

  Everyone's so connected.

• 1:01:24Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:01:25Laci Mosley?

And the government, so they're like, throw the, throw the book at him, throw the library at him.

• 1:01:29Speaker 07

Yeah, cuz they wanna draw focus from the financial crimes that are ongoing.

• 1:01:33Laci Mosley?

  Mm hmm.

• 1:01:34Speaker 07

It's like, you know, with Martha Stewart, I feel like that's why they put her away, cuz like.

• 1:01:38Laci Mosley?

  She was an example.

• 1:01:39Speaker 07

  Yeah, it's an example.

• 1:01:41Laci Mosley?

And they were like insider trading, and I'm like, okay, we're not gonna talk about the insider trading that happened.

• 1:01:45Speaker 07

  Constantly, all the time?

• 1:01:46Laci Mosley?

Beginning of January of twenty twenty when covid was found out by the American government. And then y'all sold off a bunch of fucking stocks, bought stocks, and then told us about covid. Like, y'all don't, y'all don't wanna.

• 1:01:58Speaker 07

  No.

• 1:01:58Laci Mosley?

Yeah, it's a mess, but we're here, we're breathing it in and living it. So Brex finally folded in two thousand two. John Felderhoff, he sold over eighty million dollars.

• 1:02:12Speaker 07

  Wow, with the shares?

• 1:02:14Laci Mosley?

Yeah, of his stock, just months before the reveal of the scam.

• 1:02:19Speaker 07

  Damn.

• 1:02:20Laci Mosley?

He was the only Brex executive ever prosecuted for the fraud. But he was acquitted of insider trading in two thousand seven. How lucky, how lucky, John.

• 1:02:33Speaker 07

  Convenient.

• 1:02:34Laci Mosley?

In 2013, Canadian courts ruled that 5.2 million dollars dispersed to an untold number of shareholders from a class action lawsuit in Canada and the US is far less than the 5 billion investors had sought from the bankrupt company and its key executives in lawsuits filed back as like, as far as 1997, they've been suing these people.

• 1:02:57Speaker 07

Five, how much, how many billions? Five billion dollars?

• 1:03:01Laci Mosley?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:01Speaker 07

  It's a lot. A lot of money.

• 1:03:03Laci Mosley?

Yeah. The true story was loosely adapted into the 2016 movie Gold, in which Matthew McConaughey plays a character based on David Walsh.

• 1:03:13Speaker 07

I haven't seen that. Have you seen that?

• 1:03:15Laci Mosley?

  No.

• 1:03:15Speaker 07

  I didn't heard of that.

• 1:03:16Laci Mosley?

  Neither have I.

• 1:03:17Speaker 07

Maybe it's not very good. Maybe we didn't see it because it's, maybe it's a stinker. Might be a stinker.

• 1:03:23Laci Mosley?

  I love Matthew McConaughey though.

• 1:03:24Speaker 07

  Oh yeah, he's the best.

• 1:03:25Laci Mosley?

Saw that one car that... The Lincoln? The Lincoln Town Car.

• 1:03:30Speaker 07

Gotta come out and travel my life.

• 1:03:31Laci Mosley?

But now you know why this man looks like this. All right, all right, all right. Lincoln Town Car. Now, yeah, we can go back to this guy and we see that this guy is stressed out because they were all stressed out. Like, for me, and I'll ask you Johnny, what your moral of this story is, obviously it's the truth, so it's not a story, but this kind of greed, this kind of theft, it's so complicated and you know that your life is gonna end if you're ever found out.

• 1:04:05Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:04:05Laci Mosley?

And it sucks the life out of you. These people look empty and sad.

• 1:04:12Speaker 07

They're just full of gold. They've just got a bunch of metal in their, in their bodies.

• 1:04:17Laci Mosley?

Is that your conclusion? What do you think about this scam? Do you think they, at least, were they smart scammers?

• 1:04:22Speaker 07

I think no, because they, the best scams, it's like the best lie has elements of truth and this, this, uh, mining operation, there was no gold at all.

• 1:04:34Laci Mosley?

Okay, but come on, the dirt, the faraway country.

• 1:04:37Speaker 07

  But they added it.

• 1:04:38Laci Mosley?

Michael, the gay with four wives, trying to get five, jumping out of helicopter. I think they did some things.

• 1:04:43Speaker 07

They did some things, but the smart thing to do would be to find an actual claim that has something and

• 1:04:48Laci Mosley?

  Extrapolate that.

• 1:04:50Speaker 07

inflate it like Hawk to a coin or some shit like that, you know? You just, you blow up.

• 1:04:55Laci Mosley?

How much do you own of Hock to a coin, Johnny?

• 1:04:57Speaker 07

I own thankfully zero. Gosh, that's such, that's one of the greatest scams of all time, I feel like, in terms of like just sheer brilliance to dummy ratio.

• 1:05:08Laci Mosley?

I mean, you gotta capitalize. If you got a moment, and you know, a lot of people, they want a moment.

• 1:05:14Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:05:14Laci Mosley?

And so she got her moment and she, she.

• 1:05:16Speaker 07

She got her moment, but she, she, she's literally committing a crime though. It's actually, it's a literal crime.

• 1:05:23Laci Mosley?

Yeah, that's not her fault. She didn't know.

• 1:05:25Speaker 07

  Yeah, but that's, she's a, she's a patsy.

• 1:05:28Laci Mosley?

Yeah, she is. I hope that she doesn't get in trouble because.

• 1:05:32Speaker 07

  I think it's, I don't know what's going on with that.

• 1:05:34Laci Mosley?

I think she was just like, oh, I'm an influencer now. I signed the deal on the line. I don't think she, she knew that.

• 1:05:40Speaker 07

We'll never know. We'll never know.

• 1:05:42Laci Mosley?

We will never know. Honestly, I kinda hope that she did now and that she's an evil genius.

• 1:05:48Speaker 07

Oh, that'd be cool. She's just been playing us all?

• 1:05:50Laci Mosley?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:05:51Speaker 07

  God, that'd be funny.

• 1:05:53Laci Mosley?

All right, Johnny, I always ask at the end of this podcast, where can I find you? What do you want people to watch? Where do you want people to follow you online? Where do you want people to find you?

• 1:06:01Speaker 07

Okay, I'll be in Borneo for a couple of weeks. I'm working on this gold mine. Uh, I, you can find me, I am, uh, online. I have a website that I sell tickets to shows on. It's Johnny Pemberton dot dog. That's actually what it is. Cause someone stole my web address when it lapsed and I'm not paying them the money they want to get it back. They're holding it ransom. So I'm.

• 1:06:22Laci Mosley?

  Oh, very millennial.

• 1:06:23Speaker 07

Dot dog is better than dot com. So Johnny Pemberton.

• 1:06:25Laci Mosley?

Dot dog is cool. I didn't know there was a dog that you could dot.

• 1:06:28Speaker 07

You can get dot cat, you can get dot, anything three letters.

• 1:06:31Laci Mosley?

  That's so cool.

• 1:06:32Speaker 07

Yeah. Dot, dot dog. So that's my website. Otherwise, you know, I'm just like, you can watch me on Fallout.

• 1:06:38Laci Mosley?

  Fallout, yes.

• 1:06:40Speaker 07

I have a movie coming out in March called Mermaid. We'll have a bunch of dates for the premiere. It's a movie about a mermaid. I find a mermaid.

• 1:06:48Laci Mosley?

  You find a mermaid?

• 1:06:50Speaker 07

Yeah, it's like a creature mermaid. It's not like a pretty, uh, ock, you know, water creature.

• 1:06:55Laci Mosley?

  It looks like all like.

• 1:06:56Speaker 07

Like a creature, like a scary creature. And it takes place in Florida.

• 1:07:01Laci Mosley?

  Oh.

• 1:07:01Speaker 07

And there's lots of drugs and, you know.

• 1:07:03Laci Mosley?

  Love things in Florida.

• 1:07:04Speaker 07

Criminals and all that kind of crap, yeah.

• 1:07:06Laci Mosley?

  Cause it's Florida.

• 1:07:07Speaker 07

  It's Florida. It's a very Florida movie.

• 1:07:09Laci Mosley?

  Ooh.

• 1:07:09Speaker 07

  Very much.

• 1:07:10Laci Mosley?

Okay, Mermaid in March, y'all. Get into it. Johnny's got some projects coming up, all out. Y'all watch everything.

• 1:07:17Speaker 07

  Watch it all.

• 1:07:17Laci Mosley?

Um, right now Going Dutch is streaming on Fox, so you can watch me there. You can watch the Scam Goddess television show on Hulu. You can get my book, wherever books are sold, or the audiobook if you want that too. I'm going on a little mini tour with Live Nation. The pre-sale code is goddess for y'all. And I'll be in Chicago in March. I'll be in Irving. I'll do the Punch Line Theater in, ooh, Grand Mercy in New York City. And what's the last one? Oh, and then San Francisco Cops Theater.

• 1:07:53Speaker 07

  Nice, Cops is great.

• 1:07:54Laci Mosley?

Pull up. If you're in those cities, pull up. Show your ass. Don't embarrass me, okay? Uh, congregation, I want you guys to get out there and I want you to stay.

• 1:08:04Speaker 07

  Who? Why is?

• 1:08:06Laci Mosley?

  Casanova Inga.

• 1:08:12Laci Mosley?

Go to that strip club, get you some wings.

• 1:08:19Laci Mosley?
