Introducing: Possible season two

The award-winning Possible podcast is back with a new season that sketches out the brightest version of the future—and what it will take to get there. Most of all, it asks: what if, in the future, everything breaks humanity's way? Tune in for grounded and speculative takes on how technology—and, in particular, AI—is inspiring change and transforming the future. This season, hosts Reid Hoffman and Aria Finger, are speaking with a new set of ambitious builders and deep thinkers about everything from art to geopolitics and from healthcare to education. These conversations also showcase another kind of guest: AI. Whether it's Inflection’s Pi, OpenAI’s ChatGPT or other AI tools, each episode will use AI to enhance and advance our discussion. The first episode is out this Wednesday, October 25th. Possible is produced by Wonder Media Network and hosted by Reid Hoffman and Aria Finger. Our showrunner is Shaun Young. Possible is produced by Edie Allard, Sara Schleede, and Paloma Moreno Jimenez. Jenny Kaplan is our Executive Producer and Editor.

And now there is very much an awareness that we live in a science fiction novel that we are all co-authoring.

If AI starts competing, or disrupting, or squashing the human creative impulse, I think we're in deep, deep trouble. On the other hand, if AI causes and if fluoresces in human creativity, then we're not in deep trouble. It's going to be very beautiful to go where we're going.

Somebody asked me, will this become a weapon of war? And I said, every technology becomes a weapon of war. But the last thing we want to do is stumble into war. I actually think in terms of preparation, AI could help a lot. You could enable more efficient, more effective in negotiations.

• 1:36Speaker 07

As I look at sort of humankind since the Enlightenment, I see enormous development on that one side, that rational calculating side that brings us all this technology. But I think that technology can get us to that, that being whole.

• 1:51Speaker 08

We have to convince people that innovation is about liberation. Innovation is about moving people forward, and that technology at its best does that.

• 2:04Reid Hoffman?

In each conversation, you'll also hear from another kind of guest, AI. We'll invite OpenAI's ChatGPT, Inflection's Pi, or other AI tools to help us tackle those big questions.

• 2:19Speaker 01

In the future, yeah, your video is just gonna chop itself up and edit itself and like remove the background noise and be good. It's like, well, that's my job. So, so how does that work? But I want to hear what AI would say. Exactly. You know? All right, let's see what we got.

• 2:33Speaker 00

I believe there is something special about a human touch that will still be valued. Plus, an AI will not be able to think creatively and critically in the same way that a human can. So there will always be room for human editors, sound designers, and other creative professionals to add their own unique perspective and touch to any piece of media. What do you think? That's a good answer.
