Position of Neutrality: A Lesson in Giving from Step 12 AA A Humbling Encounter at a Rest Stop Judgment vs Charity

Join Joe McDonald as he shares a heartfelt story about an unexpected encounter at a rest stop. While initially laughing at the sight of a beat-up trailer with a “Just Married” sign, Joe’s experience took a turn. He realized that the people inside were struggling, and despite his initial reaction, he felt compelled to give them everything in his wallet. This moment of spontaneous giving reminds us that Step 12 is about practicing these principles in all our affairs, including showing compassion and generosity where we least expect it. In Alcoholics Anonymous, Step 12 is about carrying the message to others and living by spiritual principles. Joe’s story highlights the importance of giving freely and selflessly, even when the circumstances seem unusual or humorous at first.
