Hey Jonas is brought to you by Almond Breeze. It's time for some questions from the producers.

• 0:04Speaker 01

• 0:04Speaker 00

I've noticed you guys really like Almond Breeze almond milk. Who has the most specific way of drinking it?

• 0:09Speaker 01

  Ooh.

• 0:09Speaker 02

Ooh, um, Kevin's, you know what I've found very interesting is how you will drink a carton to yourself.

• 0:16Speaker 01

  Yeah, straight out the dome.

• 0:17Speaker 02

And he usually does it before show.

• 0:19Speaker 01

Yeah, just really getting myself going.

• 0:21Speaker 02

  He needs it on stage.

• 0:22Speaker 00

Why do you guys like Almond Breeze so much?

• 0:24Speaker 02

  It's delicious.

• 0:25Speaker 01

Flavor's great, it's smooth, and honestly, it tastes great with coffee.

So, April 25th, if I asked you what the significance of that date is, what would you say?

• 1:53Speaker 01

  Easter?

• 1:54Speaker 00

  No, incorrect.

• 1:55Speaker 02

  William Shatner's birthday?

• 1:57Speaker 00

  Incorrect.

• 1:57Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:58Speaker 00

April 25th is described as a perfect date from the movie.

• 2:03Speaker 00

  Miss Congeniality.

• 2:04Speaker 01

  Ah.

• 2:05Speaker 00

Miss Rhode Island, she has asked, could you describe your perfect date? By?

• 2:09Speaker 01

  William Shatner.

• 2:10Speaker 00

  William Shatner.

• 2:11Speaker 01

  Right.

• 2:11Speaker 00

To what she replies, I would have to say April 25th. It's not too hot, not too cold. It's an iconic line and it is.

• 2:17Speaker 01

  She's not wrong.

• 2:18Speaker 00

She's not wrong. It has stood with me, stuck with me forever. April 25th. So I celebrate it. I'm actually one of the many people throughout the world who celebrates April 25th as a national and international holiday.

• 2:29Speaker 01

  So National Date Day.

• 2:31Speaker 00

Lines like that, iconic moments in film are no stranger to our guest. They have many, going all the way back to Star Trek.

• 2:43Speaker 00

Our dad would say this all the time. Space, the final frontier. Captain Kirk, played by none other than.

• 2:50Speaker 01

  William Shatner. The William Shatner.

• 2:52Speaker 00

To boldly go where no one has gone before is a crazy.

• 2:56Speaker 01

  Line that you said.

• 2:57Speaker 00

  And line.

• 2:58Speaker 01

  He said.

• 2:59Speaker 00

Imagine having a line like that. That's so iconic that it just, it becomes a part of the English vernacular.

• 3:06Speaker 01

Yeah. Like if you didn't know, I would think that that was what Buzz Aldrin said.

• 3:10Speaker 02

I thought, I would say that was in the Bible.

• 3:12Speaker 00

  He's 95 years old.

• 3:14Speaker 01

  95.

• 3:15Speaker 00

  And he looks.

• 3:15Speaker 01

  95 years young.

• 3:16Speaker 00

  Incredible. You know him well.

• 3:19Speaker 02

I know him quite well. It's kind of wild, our relationship, but there was a time when I, I signed him to a recording deal.

• 3:26Speaker 00

  Yep.

• 3:27Speaker 01

  That's a thing that happened?

• 3:28Speaker 02

I had a joint venture. And for those of you who don't know what that is, under Republic Records, Jonas Brothers are signed by Republic Records. This is before the Jonas Brothers were signed to Republic Records. I was sitting around during COVID and I just was scrolling on TikTok a lot, finding all these amazing artists that had very little view counts. I was like, these are amazing. Like, I want to work with these people. How do I do this? There's already a record label underneath.

• 3:55Speaker 00

Republic called a joint venture. We signed up a handful of people and William Shatner was one of them because he does spoken word. He did a spoken word album.

• 4:03Speaker 02

  So cool.

• 4:03Speaker 00

I'm also featured on a song called Clouds of Guilt that I sing and he just spoke word. It's really trippy and such a vibe and he did an entire album of spoken word. And now he's gearing up to make a metal album.

• 4:18Speaker 02

  Fantastic.

• 4:19Speaker 00

I cannot wait. He just announced that. So we should definitely talk to him about this.

• 4:21Speaker 02

  Yes, please.

• 4:22Speaker 00

  Let's bring him on.

• 4:23Speaker 02

  Please.

• 4:24Speaker 03

  Hello, gentlemen.

• 4:25Speaker 02

  Hey, sir.

• 4:26Speaker 00

It is so good to meet you. I know Joe's got a history with you and he just kind of filled us in on where it all stemmed from. But it is so great to meet you. Such big fans and I know everyone listening is obviously massive fans as well. So thanks for joining us.

• 4:40Speaker 03

Well, thanks for asking me. I have somewhere in my phone, some of the names of the people who are joining my metal.

• 4:47Speaker 00

So your piece of it is spoken word or are you, are you singing in this as well?

• 4:51Speaker 03

You might say, because three of you are such wonderful singers, he does spoken word. He speaks. I, who have difficulty staying in tune, my pitch is not perfect.

• 5:06Speaker 00

  Doesn't have to be.

• 5:07Speaker 02

How did this come about? Please tell us why.

• 5:10Speaker 03

Which aspect? My birth? My dad had a great deal of it.

• 5:14Speaker 00

Take us back to your earliest memory. A, I would like to know your earliest memory. B, more so, I guess, the metal album. What sprung this idea?

• 5:23Speaker 03

Cleopatra is the name of the label. And so when I was doing Star Trek, Decca was like the biggest, whatever the equivalent is now, record label. And they came to me while I was shooting Star Trek and said, would you do an album? I said, well, you know, I took singing lessons and I, but I never followed through. And I had an idea that I would carry the fret of a guitar so I could learn the fingerings. I had those ambitions. In fact, my Broadway phase, I went out, I went out to audition for a musical.

• 6:02Speaker 03

And the guy, I'd been on Broadway, the guy knew my, my chops, I guess, but he smiled very kindly and somewhat condescendingly. After I finished the song, I said, thank you, Bill. I knew I wasn't gonna get the job cuz I couldn't sing.

• 6:21Speaker 00

What show was that, if I may ask?

• 6:22Speaker 03

I don't remember the show, but I remember the kindly look cuz cuz I had been an actor in straight plays and so he wasn't gonna dismiss me and say, "Oh, yeah, we might call you." He had enough respect to be kind, to say, "Thank you," and a smile on his face. But I knew then that I'd made a big mistake. After that, I was I tried taking singing lessons and I got to solfeggio and and relative pitch, which you you can train, as I'm telling your audiences, you can train your ear. If you do enough on a key in a piano or guitar and you hit that note, "Hmm, oh, that's an

• 7:01Speaker 03

A," and you can train if with years, as you have done, as you guys have done so brilliantly, you can train your ear for relative pitch. I didn't even get that far. But what I got to do is I was I was an actor in the classics for many years, dealing a lot with iambic pentameter and poetry and

• 7:22Speaker 00

  Right.

• 7:23Speaker 03

And in a way, that's singing. Poetry, there is a melodic line in poetry, so that spoken word and singing is not that far apart. It's enough far apart that's many times, in my case, it doesn't really work, but singing and speaking in rhythm and in music is possible, and I think that's what I do.

• 7:53Speaker 00

You do it well. Wow. I'm very excited to hear this this metal album.

• 7:58Speaker 03

I was talking about this earlier today, the awards for for science fiction, and they said, "Would you sing Rocket Man?"

• 8:09Speaker 03

And I said, "Well, okay, I'll do it." It was in front of an audience, they had the lyrics there, and I did Rocket Man, and I did the best I could doing Frank Sinatra. I had a cigarette, the collar was open, and I was doing Rocket Man as Frank Sinatra. It wasn't supposed to be recorded, but they had recorded and it's followed me all since then, fifty years ago, it's followed me. "Hey Rocketman, hey Rocketman." Three, four months ago, there was a cruise ship, a Star Trek cruise ship, and they said, "Would you come on the cruise and all we want you to do is sing Rocketman."

• 8:47Speaker 03

So, and they were going to pay me a lot of money. So I said, "Okay, I'll do Rocketman." I got there, they had a band, really incredible musicians. And in looking more carefully at the lyric that he wrote, there's a lot about the astronaut is afraid of being alone. There's a lot about the emotion, "I think it's going to be a long, long time for..." And I had this band and I said, "I'm going to reinterpret the song as an actor would. There's a lot about aloneness here and I'm going to be frightened to be alone, I'm going to be alone." And we played it that way. And there was four thousand people on the cruise ship. They didn't have a theater big enough, so they wanted me to do it twice. I did it twice.

• 9:32Speaker 03

And I didn't know how it was going to go, I was just doing the best I could. And I did my version of Rocketman. And they stood up and they applauded, two thousand people applauded. "Thank you very much." And I'm going to get off and they wouldn't let me off. They were so, had been so moved by that interpretation of Rocketman. And then I did it again, an hour later in front of another audience. And they did the same thing, they wouldn't let me off the stage because I found the truth of a song and it moved them. Like they hadn't heard before on anybody interpreting Rocketman.

• 10:09Speaker 00

That's wonderful. Um, I have also performed on a cruise ship. Um, and I will say that it was, it was one of the more challenging performances of my career. Well, I, I, I sort of got seasick while it was happening. And the stage was moving, you know, and we were on some rough water. Did you experience some rough water when you were singing Rocketman?

• 10:33Speaker 03

We were in the roughest seas of all, in the Antarctic.

• 10:37Speaker 01

  Oh, wow. No way.

• 10:39Speaker 00

And you still had them in the palm of your hands.

• 10:41Speaker 01

See, in talking about being alone, I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid.

• 10:44Speaker 03

  Did you?

• 10:45Speaker 01

  I absolutely wanted.

• 10:46Speaker 03

What did you do to, to make your dream come true?

• 10:48Speaker 01

I, my dream did not come true.

• 10:50Speaker 00

  He picked up a guitar.

• 10:51Speaker 01

I picked up a guitar and sang to the stars.

• 10:53Speaker 03

You could have named it a gastar. This is a gastar.

• 10:57Speaker 01

Star. Um, I saw a film where the astronaut floated off into space and no one could get him. And he kept moving into the darkness. And I said, that's not, I'm never going to space. But you went to space and you lived my dream.

• 11:11Speaker 00

Yeah, you've been to space now and you also played one of the more iconic space travelers, I would say, the, the most iconic. Um, our, our father is a, a big fan, um, raised.

• 11:22Speaker 03

  Wish I could do that.

• 11:23Speaker 00

You can't, you can't do that.

• 11:24Speaker 03

  I can't, I can't separate. That's the best I can do.

• 11:27Speaker 01

  It's, it's there in theory.

• 11:28Speaker 00

  This is Nick Jonas.

• 11:30Speaker 01

  This is Kevin Jonas.

• 11:31Speaker 02

And Joe Jonas from Hey Jonas.

• 11:32Speaker 01

This episode is brought to you by State Farm.

• 11:35Speaker 00

You know that feeling when something fits just right? Your go-to jeans, your perfectly customized coffee order, a playlist that somehow knows exactly what song you need next? Personalization makes a difference and your insurance should be no different.

• 11:46Speaker 01

State Farm can help personalize coverage that fits your life and your budget because your insurance coverage should feel right for you.

• 11:53Speaker 02

Lucky good neighbor, State Farm is there. Hey Jonas is brought to you by Almond Breeze. It's time for some questions from the producers.

• 11:59Speaker 00

All right. Who started drinking Almond Breeze almond milk first?

• 12:02Speaker 01

Actually, I think that was you, Nick.

• 12:03Speaker 00

  I think it was.

• 12:04Speaker 01

Yeah, you're like, you know, guys, I tried this almond breeze in my coffee today.

• 12:07Speaker 00

Changed the game for me. All right. Who's the most likely to finish the last carton of almond breeze and not replace it?

• 12:13Speaker 02

  That's Kevin.

• 12:13Speaker 00

  Kevin, of course.

• 12:14Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 12:15Speaker 01

  That's someone else's job.

• 12:16Speaker 02

  Take it, Kev.

• 12:17Speaker 00

What's the most random place you drank almond breeze?

• 12:20Speaker 02

The last time I visited the Empire State Building.

• 12:22Speaker 00

Ah, that's a random place for sure. I've noticed you guys really like almond breeze almond milk. Who has the most specific way of drinking it?

• 12:28Speaker 01

  Ooh.

• 12:29Speaker 02

Ooh, um, Kevin's, you know what's what I found very interesting is how you will drink a carton to yourself.

• 12:35Speaker 01

Yeah, just straight up the dome.

• 12:36Speaker 02

And he usually does it before show.

• 12:38Speaker 01

Yeah, just really getting myself going.

• 12:40Speaker 02

  He needs it on stage.

• 12:42Speaker 00

Okay, last question. Why do you guys like almond breeze so much?

• 12:45Speaker 01

Oh, it just tastes great. It's a great alternative.

• 12:47Speaker 00

  It is great.

• 12:48Speaker 02

It's simply because it's really good.

• 12:49Speaker 00

True. Try almond breeze. Trust us. It's really good. You've probably heard that good things come in threes.

• 12:54Speaker 01

  No, I've never heard that.

• 12:56Speaker 00

  Kevin.

• 12:56Speaker 02

Yeah, you have. You've got bacon, lettuce, tomato, rock, paper, scissors.

• 13:00Speaker 00

  Joe, Nick, Kevin.

• 13:02Speaker 01

Yeah, and that is a good one.

• 13:04Speaker 02

Or, because it's cold season, Kleenex lotion tissues.

• 13:07Speaker 01

There's no three in Kleenex tissues.

• 13:09Speaker 02

That's where you're wrong, Kev, my friend. Listen. Kleenex lotion tissues have three-in-one skin-loving benefits. It protects hands, soothes, and moisturizes your skin.

• 13:18Speaker 01

I never realized you were so into skincare, Joe.

• 13:21Speaker 00

Come on, who doesn't love to moisturize?

• 13:24Speaker 01

  You've got a good point.

• 13:25Speaker 02

Oh, and don't forget to tell them about the three thick layers made with coconut oil and aloe.

• 13:29Speaker 00

Wow, good things really do come in threes.

• 13:31Speaker 02

For whatever happens next, grab Kleenex.

• 13:34Speaker 01

  Hey, this is Kevin.

• 13:35Speaker 02

  This is Joe.

• 13:35Speaker 00

And this is Nick from Hey Jonas.

• 13:37Speaker 01

You know, I recently learned that every 36 minutes, another child in the US is diagnosed with cancer. Think about that for a second. Some of the bravest warriors you'll ever meet aren't professional athletes or superheroes. They're kids in this fight.

• 13:50Speaker 00

And every day, these young warriors face challenges most adults couldn't imagine. Yet they continue to show up with incredible courage, determination, and hope.

• 13:57Speaker 02

That's why we're proud to support Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

• 14:00Speaker 00

For the past 28 years, with support from Hyundai, their dealers, and every new Hyundai sold, Hope on Wheels has contributed over $300 million to childhood cancer research, helping save more than 40,000 kids.

• 14:12Speaker 01

We recently had the opportunity to meet with some of these incredible warriors in person. Take a listen.

• 14:17Speaker 00

Joe, we had a very interesting ride here. It was really special. We partnered up with our friends at Hyundai for Hope on Wheels, which is an amazing initiative they've had going since 1998. They've raised over $300 million to support individuals living with pediatric cancer. And their families, the doctors, the researchers. A portion of every purchase of Hyundai has gone to this initiative. And, you know, I think for us as fathers, these kind of partnerships are key. You know, ways in which we can really show some love to families, to individuals going through these tough moments in their lives. And we actually have three incredible warriors here today.

• 14:55Speaker 01

  That's right. Where's Piper?

• 14:57Speaker 00

  Piper?

• 14:58Speaker 01

  Belle? Yes.

• 14:59Speaker 00

  Eliza?

• 15:00Speaker 01

  And Eliza's here. Hi, Eliza.

• 15:01Speaker 00

  Front row.

• 15:02Speaker 01

Welcome. Thank you so much for joining us.

• 15:04Speaker 02

Thank you so much. You're an inspiration.

• 15:06Speaker 00

We're so happy. And I believe we met Belle. We met Belle before.

• 15:09Speaker 04

So my mom hosted you all at Saddleback Easter church service back in like 2009. I was one years old.

• 15:16Speaker 00

You were one years old when we met. What did you remember most from that experience?

• 15:19Speaker 04

It was at the Angel Stadium and my mom hosted you all and then you guys sang Itsy Bitsy Spider to me, which is absolutely crazy. So it is a full circle moment to be here today.

• 15:29Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 15:30Speaker 00

That's amazing. I think that's the only time we've ever sung that song.

• 15:33Speaker 02

  The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

• 15:36Speaker 00

That's all we got. We have to pay for the song now to use it on the bucket. No, that's probably the first time we've ever performed that song together. Well, I love that.

• 15:44Speaker 01

Well, we're honored that you're here. To everyone here, all the Warriors, thank you so much for spending your day with us. But we're not done yet. We need your help. Together, let's bring every Warrior home.

• 15:53Speaker 00

Join the fight to end childhood cancer at HyundaiWarriors.com or ask about Hope on Wheels at your local Hyundai dealer. But then you got this chance to go to space, which I think, you know, on top of it just being a great experience, I'm sure, or a memory of a lifetime, what I think it did for others who have dreamed, you know, when they were kids or, you know, fallen in love with, with shows that touch on, you know, science fiction and space travel. It really sent a message of hope and I think it was a really beautiful thing. Can you tell us how this came about and what the experience was like from your perspective?

• 16:29Speaker 03

So it must have been about five years ago. I read in the paper, this producer and I, Jeff Bezos' space arm called Blue Origin was forming. And they had a rocket and they had a cabin, a spaceship, and they were going to launch it in a year. And so my friend and I said, geez, they should put me up there. And we called ahead. And they said, ah, it's a great idea. Come up to Seattle, to Amazon headquarters, and let's talk about it. So we flew up to Seattle and went into the lobby of Amazon.

• 17:11Speaker 03

And there, this enormous lobby was a big table with a dome.

• 17:17Speaker 03

A clear dome over it. And when we looked at it, it was a, it was the model of the spaceship, the Enterprise. It was the actual model they had made. They now retired it and Bezos somehow acquired it and put it in the center of his lobby.

• 17:34Speaker 02

I wonder how he acquired it.

• 17:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 17:36Speaker 03

  Yes, probably money.

• 17:38Speaker 01

  And lots of it.

• 17:39Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:41Speaker 03

Well, to you and me, yes.

• 17:44Speaker 02

Yeah, he's like, oh, that little thing? Sure. Put it in the lobby.

• 17:47Speaker 03

You want that amount? Good. So he met me there in the lobby and we started talking about Star Trek and turns out he was a big fan of Star Trek. And then we go sit down at a table, at a board table and a couple of his advisors and my friend and I, and we say, you know, you're gonna shoot that rocket up there. Captain Kirk should be on the first rocket. He says, that's a great idea.

• 18:13Speaker 02

  Absolutely.

• 18:14Speaker 03

So we go home. Yeah, we'll call you, call you. Then COVID hits. That's a long ago it was. And COVID hits and the whole thing's canceled. And then we, a year goes by and COVID is manageable. And we read in the paper, Jeff Bezos and his brother and an, a woman astronaut who didn't go up into space and a young guy, a teenager, were the four people who are gonna go on the first voyage up. And I said to my friend, oh, I guess that's, that's too bad, because it would have been an interesting experience. So Jeff Bezos goes up with his brother and the astronaut and, and

• 18:56Speaker 03

the, and the young boy and, and then they call. And they say, would you like to go second? And I said, I don't do second. I don't want a vice president. I want a president. But I thought, you know, I don't know whether second is a good idea. And then I thought.

• 19:15Speaker 03

My basic living philosophy is do everything you can. Just jump in and do it and if it fails, you know, if that album doesn't work, you'll do another album. Or you won't.

• 19:28Speaker 02

So the question is, how many aliens did you see while you were up there?

• 19:32Speaker 03

  Seventeen.

• 19:33Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 19:33Speaker 03

There was a half an alien.

• 19:34Speaker 02

Half an alien. No, but for real though, do you? How deep does it go? Like, did they prep you in advance of this? Be like, if you see something that you're not, is supposed to talk about?

• 19:44Speaker 03

That would have been wonderful. What I did see, because you can imagine that the spaceship itself was, had a lot of cameras in it. They were, it was a television, you know, they were going to release it as a television thing. And I saw television of Jeff Bezos in, in weightlessness. And he was, if you're the camera, the camera was pointing this way and his legs were like my fingers. He's on his stomach floating in weightlessness and his legs are apart and the kid is throwing candies at his rear end.

• 20:18Speaker 02

  Classic.

• 20:21Speaker 03

That's how Jeff experienced a part of the space thing. So I thought, I'm not going to do that.

• 20:27Speaker 02

Well, I would think that, that there would have to be some level of, of due diligence right beforehand. Was there any training or, or a heads up about what you might experience physically?

• 20:36Speaker 03

Yeah. So they said, uh, uh, come on, um, uh, we've arranged for the transportation for a Monday morning. And then we'll train to Wednesday, Thursday. And if we think you're, you and the other three people are going with you are ready, we'll send you up Wednesday or Thursday.

• 20:56Speaker 02

What? Wow. How long is the trip in total? Up, like getting up there down?

• 21:03Speaker 03

Depends when you start counting. When they started the countdown with me, that seventeen minus the sixteen, hold it. There's an ale. What the hell's an ale? An ale is something that doesn't belong there.

• 21:16Speaker 02

  Oh no. An alien.

• 21:18Speaker 03

So they held the countdown. What the hell's that? Oh, wait a minute, the ale's gone. Seventeen, fourteen, thirteen, got to about 12 and they said, all right, and this is the God's truth. They said, okay, we're going to take the gantry away now. Anybody who wants to get off should get off now.

• 21:40Speaker 01

What is this, a ride at Disney World?

• 21:42Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 21:43Speaker 03

Like, it's a ride at Disney World. And I've spoken about it and said, and I made my way, I was gonna, and then I thought, I can't, I'm Captain Kirk, I gotta stay here.

• 21:52Speaker 01

Were you nervous, though? Like, I feel like I would be thinking about a lot of things, obviously, you know, the incredible nature that you are actually 20, 95 is insane, right? It's amazing that you've had this career and doing something like this is...

• 22:04Speaker 03

  Yeah, but maybe it isn't 95, maybe I'm 32.

• 22:07Speaker 01

  I think you are, definitely.

• 22:09Speaker 02

You have the spirit of a 32.

• 22:10Speaker 01

  Definitely.

• 22:11Speaker 03

Anyway, I didn't get off, and the thing went up, and it was like an elephant sitting on your chest, the jeez.

• 22:16Speaker 02

Oh, my goodness, I can't believe it.

• 22:18Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 22:18Speaker 01

  Would you do it again?

• 22:19Speaker 03

I had such an enormous experience, that to do it again is like being false to somebody you loved.

• 22:25Speaker 02

  Hmm, that's beautiful.

• 22:27Speaker 01

  Poetic.

• 22:27Speaker 02

That's a beautiful way of putting it. Because you are a poet, you are so poetic. Do you have a favorite poem yourself?

• 22:33Speaker 03

I've written with a writing partner, his name is Robert Shurnow, friend of mine, he was a great poet. And we've written the lyrics to five or more albums, which he then gathered all the lyrics, and we've made a book, and each song has a meaning to me. I wrote a song about leaving home, I wrote a song about my journey to Toronto to begin my career, an audience that was cautioned not to meet in the Apollo Theater in London. Don't be there, no more than 10 people can meet because of COVID. I arrive, and I know this is a sold-out audience prior to my going in, to 3,500 people,

• 23:17Speaker 03

and it's sold out, and I'm behind the curtain, I'm thinking, God, I wonder if anybody's there? And the curtain opens, and 3,500 people are there. They had defied the Prime Minister's edict, no more than 10 people. 3,500 people waited to see me, and tears rolling down my eyes, and tears rolling down their eyes. It was a moment of communion that is unreal. You'll see lyrics that are so meaningful and yet poetic. It's extraordinary, I'm so happy with it.

• 23:51Speaker 01

I can't wait to check it out.

• 23:53Speaker 00

  Jonas.

• 23:54Speaker 01

  This is Kevin Jonas.

• 23:55Speaker 02

And Joe Jonas from Hey Jonas.

• 23:57Speaker 01

This episode is brought to you by State Farm.

• 23:59Speaker 00

• 24:17Speaker 02

Lucky good neighbor, State Farm is there. Hey Jonas is brought to you by Almond Breeze. It's time for some questions from the producers.

• 24:23Speaker 00

All right, who started drinking Almond Breeze almond milk first?

• 24:26Speaker 01

Actually, I think that was you, Nick.

• 24:27Speaker 02

  I think it was.

• 24:28Speaker 01

Yeah, you're like, you know, guys, I tried this almond breeze in my coffee today.

• 24:32Speaker 00

Changed the game for me. All right, who's the most likely to finish the last carton of almond breeze and not replace it?

• 24:37Speaker 02

  That's Kevin.

• 24:38Speaker 00

  Kevin, of course.

• 24:39Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 24:39Speaker 01

  That's someone else's job.

• 24:40Speaker 02

  Take it, Kev.

• 24:41Speaker 00

What's the most random place you drank almond breeze?

• 24:44Speaker 02

The last time I visited the Empire State Building.

• 24:46Speaker 00

Ah, that's a random place for sure. I've noticed you guys really like almond breeze almond milk. Who has the most specific way of drinking it?

• 24:53Speaker 02

Ooh, Kevin's, you know what's I've found very interesting is how you will drink a carton to yourself.

• 25:00Speaker 01

  Yeah, straight off the dome.

• 25:01Speaker 02

And he usually does it before show.

• 25:03Speaker 01

Yeah, just really getting myself going.

• 25:05Speaker 02

  He needs it on stage.

• 25:06Speaker 00

Okay, last question, why do you guys like almond breeze so much?

• 25:09Speaker 01

Well, it just tastes great. It's a great alternative.

• 25:11Speaker 00

  It is great.

• 25:12Speaker 02

It's simply because it's really good.

• 25:13Speaker 00

True. Try almond breeze, trust us, it's really good. You've probably heard that good things come in threes.

• 25:18Speaker 01

  No, I've never heard that.

• 25:20Speaker 02

Kevin. Yeah, you have. You've got bacon, lettuce, tomato, rock, paper, scissors.

• 25:25Speaker 00

  Joe, Nick, Kevin.

• 25:26Speaker 01

Yeah, and that is a good one.

• 25:28Speaker 02

Or because it's cold season, Kleenex lotion tissues.

• 25:31Speaker 01

There's no three in Kleenex tissues.

• 25:34Speaker 02

That's where you're wrong, Kev, my friend, listen. Kleenex lotion tissues have three-in-one skin-loving benefits. It protects hands, soothes, and moisturizes your skin.

• 25:43Speaker 01

I never realized you were so into skincare, Joe.

• 25:46Speaker 00

Come on, who doesn't love to moisturize?

• 25:48Speaker 01

  You've got a good point.

• 25:49Speaker 02

Oh, and don't forget to tell them about the three thick layers made with coconut oil and aloe.

• 25:53Speaker 01

Wow, good things really do come in threes.

• 25:55Speaker 02

For whatever happens next, grab Kleenex.

• 25:58Speaker 01

  Hey, this is Kevin.

• 25:59Speaker 02

  This is Joe.

• 25:59Speaker 00

And this is Nick from Hey Jonas.

• 26:01Speaker 01

You know, I recently learned that every 36 minutes, another child in the US is diagnosed with cancer. Think about that for a second. Some of the bravest warriors you'll ever meet aren't professional athletes or superheroes. They're kids in this fight.

• 26:15Speaker 00

And every day, these young warriors face challenges most adults couldn't imagine. Yet they continue to show up with incredible courage, determination, and hope.

• 26:22Speaker 02

That's why we're proud to support Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

• 26:25Speaker 00

For the past 28 years, with support from Hyundai, their dealers, and every new Hyundai sold. Hope on Wheels has contributed over $300 million to childhood cancer research, helping save more than 40,000 kids.

• 26:36Speaker 01

We recently had the opportunity to meet with some of these incredible warriors in person. Take a listen.

• 26:41Speaker 00

Joe, we had a very interesting ride here. It was really special. We partnered up with our friends at Hyundai for Hope on Wheels, which is an amazing initiative they've had going since 1998. They've raised over $300 million to support individuals living with pediatric cancer. And their families, the doctors, the researchers. A portion of every purchase of Hyundai has gone to this initiative. And, you know, I think for us as fathers, these kind of partnerships are key. You know, ways in which we can really show some love to families, to individuals going through these tough moments in their lives. And we actually have three incredible warriors here today.

• 27:19Speaker 01

  That's right. Where's Piper?

• 27:21Speaker 00

  Piper.

• 27:22Speaker 02

  Belle.

• 27:23Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 27:24Speaker 00

  And Eliza.

• 27:24Speaker 01

  And Eliza's here. Hi, Eliza.

• 27:26Speaker 02

Front row. Welcome. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you so much.

• 27:29Speaker 00

  We're so glad you're here.

• 27:31Speaker 02

You're an inspiration. And I believe we met Belle. We met Belle before.

• 27:34Speaker 04

So my mom hosted you all at Saddleback Easter Church service back in like 2009. I was one years old.

• 27:40Speaker 02

You were one years old when we met. What did you remember most from that experience?

• 27:44Speaker 04

It was at the Angel Stadium. And my mom hosted you all. And then you guys sang "It's a Betsy Spider" to me, which is absolutely crazy. So it is a full circle moment to be here today.

• 27:53Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 27:54Speaker 02

That's amazing. I think that's the only time we've ever sung that song.

• 27:57Speaker 01

  "It's a Betsy Spider."

• 28:00Speaker 02

That's all we got. We have to pay for the song now to use it on the bucket. No, that's probably the first time we've ever performed that song.

• 28:07Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 28:07Speaker 02

  Well, I love that.

• 28:08Speaker 00

Well, we're honored that you're here, to everyone here, all the warriors. Thank you so much for spending your day with us. But we're not done yet. We need your help. Together, let's bring every warrior home. Join the fight to end childhood cancer at HyundaiWarriors.com or ask about Hope on Wheels at your local Hyundai dealer.

• 28:23Speaker 02

We've got some questions from your adoring fans. Yeah. They've written in. They've called in. They've texted us. They've tweeted us.

• 28:29Speaker 00

The first is from Zach, and he says, "In 2026, in what ways, as a society, are we closer to the future imagined in Star Trek 20... Well, 2265 than you expected when you started filming in the 60s? And in what ways are we further away?"

• 28:45Speaker 03

Good question. Artemis 2, four astronauts, could have put a robot, in a lot of people's opinion, mine too, that the machines aboard the Artemis would have taken just as good pictures and maybe analyzed the back of the moon more than just eyesight. I heard one of them say that the precision that your eyesight has is more than the instruments, and I don't believe it. They were making a case for sending a live astronaut to space, whereas with AI and the cameras we have,

• 29:26Speaker 03

you could make a case for not sending any human beings and getting all that information through mechanical means, sending it back and running it through AI, and you've got your journey to the stars. There's an argument to be made that human beings and their vulnerability is a detriment. And that's sending these sophisticated machines, and we're only beginning to see the robots. I did a... I'm writing a book on the effect on people that I interviewed. The effect of Star Trek on those people. And I thought, well, it's a good idea. It's such incredible idea.

• 30:06Speaker 03

I talked to a guy whose only connection with humanity was a mechanical dog and a mechanical robot in the house that took care of the house. And the dog patrols the outside of the house. And he has a 50 minute drive to work where he teaches mechanics. He's totally rejected humanity. And he drives with the mechanical dog. He's, I have my hand on my dog. We get to the, he's identified with mechanics.

• 30:31Speaker 02

  Wow.

• 30:32Speaker 03

He has, and as a result of watching Star Trek. I mean, amazing stories.

• 30:38Speaker 02

  Wow.

• 30:38Speaker 03

That this book is going to show. I mean, it's just, I had no idea. I've done some celebrities, Seth MacFarlane, Ben Stiller, Ben Folds. I mean, I've gotten some really interesting people whose name you would know. But as interesting or even more so are these people who, whose whole life was guided by Star Trek. And I'm thinking, how the, I'm an actor.

• 31:09Speaker 02

If there is other life forms out there that have watched Star Trek.

• 31:15Speaker 03

  There are other.

• 31:17Speaker 02

Ding ding ding, there you go. Maybe they have watched you on Star Trek. They have Galaxy Quest, remember that one? Bit of nod to Star Trek. Totally.

• 31:26Speaker 03

Well, there's a, there's a several shows of mankind, civilization has sent out radio signals for the last hundred years.

• 31:37Speaker 02

  Right.

• 31:38Speaker 03

So those radio signals have gone someplace. And I wrote a show about the radio signals reaching a planet and them saying, we got to go there.

• 31:47Speaker 03

And it's, you know, 10 billion light years away. So it's going to take forever to get here. And on the way, like every other explorer spends a lot of time in nowhere. They forgot, after all that time, they've forgotten what their original mission was. They were just, they were just civilization going someplace. I mean, that's possible.

• 32:08Speaker 01

  Absolutely.

• 32:09Speaker 02

  Sounds like a good play.

• 32:10Speaker 00

I have a question for you as a, so we've got, you know, questions from the fans. This is my fan question for you.

• 32:15Speaker 02

  Oh, Nick Jonas.

• 32:17Speaker 00

So, yeah, this is Nick Jonas writing in to the Hey Jonas Podcast. I gotta ask you, you had so many iconic roles and obviously Star Trek is, is one of, if not the most iconic space travel and sci-fi thing ever. But in your opinion, looking at your, your filmography and your career, what would you say is your most underrated project that you've worked on and that you wish people would take more time to go and discover or focus on?

• 32:47Speaker 03

I had a dramatic moment when I came out of the womb.

• 32:53Speaker 02

  Now we're talking.

• 32:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 32:54Speaker 03

  I was.

• 32:57Speaker 02

You were, it was so raw.

• 32:58Speaker 03

I don't think in those terms anymore. Let me ask you that question. Let me ask you. So all the wonderful numbers and idolatry that you've received over your incredible careers, what is your favorite moment?

• 33:17Speaker 00

Well, I was just gonna say, I think from, from a music perspective, there are things that just naturally fall through the cracks.

• 33:22Speaker 03

Name one. Give me one that is your favorite moment.

• 33:25Speaker 00

Honestly, it was this, this last album I made. I was very proud of the creative process and the people that worked with the solo records called Sunday Best.

• 33:33Speaker 03

Were you happy to get rid of your brothers? I mean, what does that mean?

• 33:37Speaker 01

  Any chance we hit?

• 33:38Speaker 00

It's more for me, you know? Who wouldn't like that now? But I think that, you know, it's in this day and age, it's so hard to sort of cut through and there's so much volume of, of, you know, releases and

• 33:51Speaker 03

Exactly. You can't, it's hard to, because it's the most recent and you had a great success with it. But in time, it'll merge with all the other wonderful things you do and you think, I don't know.

• 34:01Speaker 00

  Exactly.

• 34:01Speaker 01

And now people are refinding things all over again.

• 34:04Speaker 00

  Absolutely.

• 34:05Speaker 02

Okay, we got another question for you. Is there a Star Trek question you're sick of answering?

• 34:10Speaker 03

No, I may be a little more brief.

• 34:13Speaker 02

  There you go.

• 34:13Speaker 03

With my answer. Yes. That's my answer.

• 34:17Speaker 02

  Yes or no?

• 34:18Speaker 03

Yeah, no. You know, what do you think of Star Trek? Are you Captain Kirk? I can make it fresh. I can answer.

• 34:28Speaker 01

That is an art form in itself. Getting asked the same question over and over again, like doing press junkets.

• 34:33Speaker 03

That's exactly what I mean. But you have to be an actor. You have to recreate the enthusiasm as much as you can, because at that moment, that writer, that person who's going to communicate what you just said in the various forms of communication, needs to see your enthusiasm about, because if you're tired and you had, you vomited all over the ship and you, and, and, and you don't want to talk and they're asking you a meaningful question, you got to swallow your vomit and spew.

• 35:04Speaker 02

Well, before we let you go, we have this thing we're doing where we're getting to ask random questions from our giant silver bowl. And we don't know what's in it.

• 35:12Speaker 03

And then afterwards, you, you wear it.

• 35:14Speaker 02

  Wear it.

• 35:15Speaker 01

It's actually in my bowl to keep away them tracking my brainwaves, but that's a different story.

• 35:20Speaker 02

So, we don't know what's in here, just so you know. So I'm just gonna pick randomly. All right, this is the one I got.

• 35:27Speaker 02

Oh, this is a good one.

• 35:29Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 35:29Speaker 02

This is for you. If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would you choose?

• 35:35Speaker 03

I just did a version for a, for a heavy metal album. Another, somebody else's. My Way.

• 35:46Speaker 00

  Mmm. Frank Sinatra.

• 35:48Speaker 03

No, that's not what I did. My way. I did it my way. For a heavy metal album.

• 35:57Speaker 00

  Yeah. That's fantastic.

• 35:59Speaker 01

I cannot wait to hear your album.

• 36:01Speaker 00

  My way. Damn, that's cool.

• 36:03Speaker 02

So that version, every time you walked in the room?

• 36:05Speaker 00

  My way.

• 36:07Speaker 03

Yeah, I did it my way, not your way, not their way. It was my way.

• 36:11Speaker 01

Thanks for joining us on the Hey Jonas Powcast. We really appreciate it.

• 36:15Speaker 03

I hope I see the three of you soon. You're remarkable. You're remarkable artists, entertainers.

• 36:20Speaker 02

You're a remarkable human. Thank you. Thank you for your time.

• 36:23Speaker 03

  Take care, everybody.

• 36:24Speaker 01

  All right.

• 36:24Speaker 00

  Bye bye.

• 36:25Speaker 01

  Bye bye.

• 36:26Speaker 03

  Bye bye.

• 36:27Speaker 02

Hey Jonas is brought to you by Almond Breeze. It's time for some questions from the producers.

• 36:31Speaker 00

Yeah. I've noticed you guys really like Almond Breeze Almond Milk. Who has the most specific way of drinking?

• 36:37Speaker 01

  Ooh.

• 36:37Speaker 02

Ooh, um, Kevin's, you know what's I've found very interesting is how you will drink a carton to yourself.

• 36:44Speaker 01

  Yeah, just drop it down.

• 36:45Speaker 02

And he usually does it before show.

• 36:47Speaker 01

Yeah, just really getting myself going.

• 36:49Speaker 02

He needs it on stage. Why do you guys like Almond Breeze so much?

• 36:51Speaker 00

  It's delicious.

• 36:52Speaker 01

Flavor's great. It's smooth. And honestly, it tastes great with coffee.

• 36:55Speaker 02

Hmm, true. Try Almond Breeze. Trust us. It's really good.
