• 1:51Tig Notaro?

And it's me, your friend Tig Notaro, sitting here with my co-host.

• 1:56Mae Martin?

  May Pearl Martin.

• 1:58Tig Notaro?

May Pearl Martin. I always forget.

• 2:01Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 2:01Tig Notaro?

That that is your name. It's good.

• 2:04Mae Martin?

Yeah. Is it? I don't know.

• 2:07Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, May Pearl?

• 2:09Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 2:10Tig Notaro?

What, what, what's, what would the issue be?

• 2:12Mae Martin?

It's so feminine, Pearl. It's very, to me, it's like a, a blue rinse kinda.

• 2:19Tig Notaro?

  Hmm.

• 2:19Mae Martin?

You know, I'm knitting in the old folks home.

• 2:22Tig Notaro?

Hmm, I feel like you could take that back.

• 2:25Mae Martin?

  Really?

• 2:25Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 2:26Mae Martin?

  I could make it butch?

• 2:28Tig Notaro?

Yeah, yeah. I could see, oh, go ahead, Thomas.

• 2:31Speaker 04

My grandma does go by Pearl.

• 2:33Mae Martin?

She is a. She goes by Pearl.

• 2:35Tig Notaro?

  She's a butch.

• 2:36Speaker 04

Well, her name is Margaret, but the story goes, my, my grandpa saw her on the beach in Scotland and wrote Pearl in the sand in front of her.

• 2:45Mae Martin?

  Oh.

• 2:45Speaker 04

And that's how he wooed her.

• 2:48Mae Martin?

Whoa, he saw her and said, you just look like a little pearl?

• 2:51Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:51Tig Notaro?

And but she knew that that was for her? Cause if somebody wrote Pearl on the sand, I'd be like, hmm, you know?

• 2:58Speaker 04

I guess he explained it to her that it was for her.

• 3:01Tig Notaro?

  Excuse me.

• 3:03Mae Martin?

I'm writing Pearl in the sand here.

• 3:06Tig Notaro?

Pardon me, um, beautiful little lady, um.

• 3:10Mae Martin?

  What a smooth operator.

• 3:11Tig Notaro?

Yeah, it worked, cause we got Thomas.

• 3:14Mae Martin?

Yeah, Thomas, are you, are you smooth like that?

• 3:16Speaker 04

  Uh, no.

• 3:18Mae Martin?

  Okay.

• 3:19Speaker 04

I met Laura on an app.

• 3:20Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 3:22Tig Notaro?

Yeah, I feel like you could take Pearl back and, cause I feel like I could see a butchy character on stage that just owns the name Pearl.

• 3:35Mae Martin?

  I'm Pearl.

• 3:36Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, Pearl.

• 3:38Mae Martin?

It's just such a female kinda name, but I'll, I don't know, I'll figure it out. I'm gonna workshop it. Maybe it's like P-Dog or something.

• 3:48Tig Notaro?

  Mm hmm.

• 3:49Mae Martin?

  You know what I mean?

• 3:50Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 3:51Mae Martin?

I'm just, I just got a wave of nervousness because I got two shows tonight and the first one is music and I haven't played music in a couple of months or whatever. And it's like acoustic, just me and, and the guitar. And I haven't thought about it. It's so much scarier than stand up to me.

• 4:07Tig Notaro?

  Is it?

• 4:08Mae Martin?

Yeah, because you can't, you can't adjust or go with the flow. Like, once you're committing to a song, you're in and you're earnest and you're doing your absolute best.

• 4:18Tig Notaro?

  Mm hmm.

• 4:19Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 4:20Tig Notaro?

See, as a comedian, I feel like it must be so much easier to be a musician because you just get into the song and then it's, this is how the song goes. And this is what people do is they listen to a song. And then the song ends and then they cheer and then you do a little charming banter and then you move into the next song.

• 4:43Mae Martin?

I just can't accept that they're enjoying it because they're silent and my body thinks silence is bombing. So I'm like, I have to trust that they're, that they're enjoying it.

• 4:53Tig Notaro?

Yeah. And do you find, I always was so, I mean, I, I know this has been discussed in the world before, but as a comedian, how much musicians kill in comedy between songs?

• 5:11Mae Martin?

  Yeah, they kill.

• 5:12Tig Notaro?

  They kill.

• 5:13Mae Martin?

With like the mildest jokes, they're killing.

• 5:17Tig Notaro?

Killing. And then if I toured with that material, um.

• 5:24Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 5:24Tig Notaro?

  I'd still kill.

• 5:25Mae Martin?

Yeah, yeah, you would, you would.

• 5:27Tig Notaro?

No, it's just, I, I remember before I even got into comedy, going to see bands and musicians and just, um, and being like, oh, that's like such a fun little anecdote or that's, yeah, that's funny or that's sweet or something. And, but as a comedian, I'm like, wow. Wow.

• 5:47Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 5:48Tig Notaro?

That, it's, but I guess it's also like if, if you were. Doing comedy and then you're, you know, Fortune and then you sing in between jokes. People are like, lose your mind. It works the same way.

• 6:05Mae Martin?

  People are like.

• 6:05Tig Notaro?

The good Lord told me. I don't even know how religious songs go, but yeah.

• 6:14Mae Martin?

I mean, I always have musical guests at Largo and, and often they'll, often they'll tell a little story. And um, yeah, and it kills and I'm jealous. Yeah.

• 6:22Tig Notaro?

Destroys. Like people cannot believe how funny it is.

• 6:26Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 6:27Tig Notaro?

And I think it's great. I mean, but it is, it's a mystery because once you are teed up as a comedian.

• 6:33Mae Martin?

Yeah, the bar is so high.

• 6:35Tig Notaro?

  It is so high.

• 6:37Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 6:38Tig Notaro?

  So high.

• 6:39Mae Martin?

But then I gotta go straight from that show to, to another show, like a standup show. So I gotta switch gears.

• 6:45Tig Notaro?

May Pearl, you have got quite a show ahead of you.

• 6:49Mae Martin?

  Tig Marie. Yeah.

• 6:51Tig Notaro?

  Well, I'm Matty L. Callahan.

• 6:54Mae Martin?

Oh my God, I always forget you're Matty L. Callahan.

• 6:57Tig Notaro?

Yeah, but I pronounce it Matty L. Like the name Matt.

• 7:01Mae Martin?

  Matty L.

• 7:01Tig Notaro?

  Matty L.

• 7:02Mae Martin?

  Yeah, Matty L. Callahan Notaro.

• 7:05Tig Notaro?

  That's right.

• 7:06Mae Martin?

God, that's strong. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 7:10Mae Martin?

That's good. Did you choose eccentric middle names for Max and Finn?

• 7:14Tig Notaro?

No, not, not, nothing's eccentric about their names at all. No.

• 7:19Mae Martin?

  Was it like family names?

• 7:21Tig Notaro?

No, we didn't do family names. Nothing like that.

• 7:24Mae Martin?

What are their middle names out of interest?

• 7:26Tig Notaro?

  Maxwell Jude and Finn Luke.

• 7:29Mae Martin?

God, that's good. Jude, I love.

• 7:32Tig Notaro?

  Uh huh.

• 7:33Mae Martin?

  You know, Saint Jude?

• 7:34Tig Notaro?

I mean, not personally, but what, what do you want to say?

• 7:39Mae Martin?

Just that he's, he's the, Saint Jude is the patron saint of lost causes. And I love that. Often like at sea, first sinking ships, they'd call on Saint Jude.

• 7:50Tig Notaro?

That's good to know because Max is who wants to be an oceanographer.

• 7:54Mae Martin?

  He does?

• 7:55Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 7:55Mae Martin?

  Oh, wow.

• 7:56Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 7:57Mae Martin?

He's gonna find all kinds of stuff with the new technology they're finding like. Ancient cities and, and things like now that they can really properly scan.

• 8:06Tig Notaro?

  Mm hmm.

• 8:06Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 8:07Tig Notaro?

Yeah, and he's begging for a tadpole right now. Um, cause he, he wants, he wants a tadpole so he can raise it to be a frog.

• 8:17Mae Martin?

  That is pretty fucking amazing.

• 8:19Tig Notaro?

  Uh huh.

• 8:20Mae Martin?

A tadpole turns into a frog like that, that is crazy.

• 8:24Tig Notaro?

He is obsessed with frogs. I walked by, we have this room, we call the chill out room in the house where they, you know, chill out, have a couch, have a TV, walk by and he was like, Mare, you have to come in here and see this rare frog. And I sat down with him and this was a rare frog.

• 8:45Mae Martin?

  On TV?

• 8:46Tig Notaro?

  Mm hmm.

• 8:47Mae Martin?

Like, was he just on YouTube and found it?

• 8:49Tig Notaro?

No, they don't, they're not allowed to just be on YouTube. They'll, they'll watch like little shows where a guy's like, come on, I'll show you. And then they like, you know, go through the jungle and, um, so, yeah, so there's this one weird little rubbery frog, but he loves him a frog. I love frogs. I used to collect frogs when I was little. You know, being huckleberry Tig and such, but.

• 9:16Mae Martin?

  Collects live frogs?

• 9:17Tig Notaro?

Oh, yeah. Frogs and toads. I'd put them in a bucket, bring them home and went through the whole rigmarole every day where my mother told me I couldn't keep them.

• 9:26Mae Martin?

  No.

• 9:27Tig Notaro?

Yeah, but man, did I love them. And now I can't imagine picking up a frog.

• 9:32Mae Martin?

  Really?

• 9:33Tig Notaro?

  No.

• 9:34Mae Martin?

I'd be worried about herding it, but I do like picking, I mean, in the, in my show that's coming out this year, there's a big toad theme and we had a, we had a toad on set called, uh, Thomas, actually.

• 9:44Tig Notaro?

  Thomas the Toad?

• 9:46Mae Martin?

Yeah. And he was our toad actor and, um, yeah, some of the actors were much more comfortable than others for sure.

• 9:52Tig Notaro?

Did he have his own trailer?

• 9:54Mae Martin?

Yeah, he had a, he had a really luxurious trailer.

• 9:56Tig Notaro?

  Triple banger.

• 9:58Mae Martin?

But it was really, I mean, the animal safety was so intense. Like we couldn't use, um, you know, like a fog machine or atmosphere, cause it would upset the toad. And, and there was a trainer called V who was. You know, the toad wrangler and

• 10:14Tig Notaro?

  Good for Bee.

• 10:15Mae Martin?

She was really on top of it. Yeah, she was even, there was a scene where there were maggots on a, on a dead body.

• 10:21Tig Notaro?

Had to take care of those.

• 10:22Mae Martin?

The safety of the maggots was crucial. It was crazy. Like she had a, um, a hot, like a hair blow dryer to keep them warm.

• 10:30Tig Notaro?

  Uh huh.

• 10:31Mae Martin?

  Between takes. Yeah.

• 10:32Tig Notaro?

  I love that.

• 10:33Mae Martin?

Yeah. Um, should we hear some questions?

• 10:36Tig Notaro?

Absolutely. I was just gonna say, everyone's got a job to do. It's so cool.

• 10:41Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 10:41Tig Notaro?

I mean, the maggots have a job to do and the maggot wrangler has a job to do.

• 10:46Mae Martin?

  Exactly.

• 10:47Tig Notaro?

And, um, so do we. So let's get to our first question.

• 10:51Speaker 05

Hello, handsoms. And of course, that includes you, Thomas.

• 10:55Mae Martin?

  Hey.

• 10:56Speaker 05

It's your dear pal, Megan from Sherman Oaks. My question is, have you ever planned a bachelor or bachelorette party? And if so, what did you plan? And if you haven't, uh, what was the most memorable party you've been to, bachelor or bachelorette?

• 11:12Tig Notaro?

Hmm, I got a good one, but.

• 11:15Mae Martin?

Are you, is, are you allowed to share it?

• 11:17Tig Notaro?

I am. I am absolutely allowed to share.

• 11:20Mae Martin?

  Come on, let's hear it.

• 11:21Tig Notaro?

I have not planned a bachelorette or bachelor party, but I have been to those. And one of the most memorable ones was, uh, the actress Lake Bell.

• 11:35Mae Martin?

  Yes.

• 11:36Tig Notaro?

In Palm Springs and she rented a party bus. And it was full of beautiful, famous actresses and me. And we were flying down the road and, you know, talk about atmosphere, you know, all the smoke filling the, you know, had the lights blinking inside, had the stripper poles and the smoke machine. Oh, actually there wasn't a smoke machine. That's where the, the funny part comes in is we're flying down the, the highway and the, the party bus starts to fill with smoke, like black exhaust.

• 12:16Mae Martin?

  No.

• 12:17Tig Notaro?

Complete, and everybody's like drinking and dancing and singing and dancing around stripper poles and, um, I was not one of those. Uh, maybe a little bit, but, um, and so the party bus breaks down.

• 12:33Tig Notaro?

On the way to Palm Springs, all of these beautiful, famous actresses are drinking their drinks out of penis straws. They have penis hats on, the whole situation. And it was incredible because anybody could have driven by and seen, oh, Cameron Diaz with a penis hat on, looking underneath the smoking party bus.

• 13:03Mae Martin?

Oh, my God, just by the side of the road?

• 13:06Tig Notaro?

Oh, my, yes, everybody, because we all had to get out of the bus because it was black smoke inside of it. And so we're standing along the side of the road with penis hats on and straws. And in fact, I told that story, I was doing an afternoon vegan benefit.

• 13:26Mae Martin?

  Okay.

• 13:26Tig Notaro?

And that was the first time Max and Finn had seen me perform. And I told that story. And that is the first time they saw me and Max interrupted and heckled me and said, not, yeah, right.

• 13:41Mae Martin?

Oh, my God, are you kidding me?

• 13:43Tig Notaro?

No. And the whole place busts up laughing. And I was like, I said, oh, my, because it never dawned on me that of course, they're gonna heckle me.

• 13:53Mae Martin?

It, well, would it? I mean, that's, that's surprising to me.

• 13:57Tig Notaro?

It was, well, I was shocked, but I was also like, oh, my gosh, Max's personality, Finn was sinking in his seat. He was so embarrassed that Max was talking.

• 14:06Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 14:06Tig Notaro?

Max has no filter. He has no embarrassment. He's just like, yeah, right.

• 14:13Mae Martin?

  Oh, my God.

• 14:14Tig Notaro?

And I had to announce, I was like, oh, my sons are here. And then people started laughing even harder. And then-

• 14:21Mae Martin?

That's so funny, because also, you're, I've seen you when someone shouts something out, and you will really calmly just destroy them, like, not in a cruel way, but you will, if someone is like, blah, blah, blah, you'll be like, I'm sorry, what was that? Like, and then you will not let it go.

• 14:36Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, I'll get into it.

• 14:37Mae Martin?

You can't do that with a child.

• 14:40Tig Notaro?

But I was, what, he, he didn't believe that- I was on a bus with people that had penis hats on. And that's what he was pushing against and that they were drinking out of penis shaped straws. And I, and I had to stop and go, no, no, no, Max, this is a real story. And he was like, not. And I was like, I was like, no, Max, cause he had never heard the story and he thinks he's heard all of my stories.

• 15:06Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 15:07Tig Notaro?

But anyway, so that's my bachelorette story.

• 15:10Mae Martin?

Not is such a good heckle. Not. It's also, it's so kind of nineties. Like it's so.

• 15:16Tig Notaro?

It's so nineties. And just for him to be like, yeah, right.

• 15:21Mae Martin?

  That's so good.

• 15:22Tig Notaro?

  It was amazing.

• 15:24Mae Martin?

I mean, when kids are little enough, they're like little drunk people, like they're.

• 15:28Tig Notaro?

Oh, this was a, yeah, this was a two in the afternoon vegan benefit.

• 15:35Tig Notaro?

And, um, yeah, the first time they had seen me live.

• 15:44Mae Martin?

I can't think of many bachelor or bachelor art parties I've been to, but the only one I'm thinking of is my friend Camille. And we were playing, it was a bunch of us and her mom was there. And we were playing this game of, of, of like heads up, or it was, it was a game where you hold up things which she can't see what it is. And then we describe it to her and she has to guess the thing. And, and we just forgot that it was so X rated. And her mom didn't know any of these things about her daughter. And we were, and, and Camille's like straight and marrying a man. And, and then the clue came up and we're like, um, that, that girl that Camille slept with, uh, you know, when she was wasted at university. And her mom's like, what?

• 16:29Tig Notaro?

  Not.

• 16:30Mae Martin?

  Not.

• 16:30Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, right.

• 16:33Mae Martin?

  Should we hear the answer?

• 16:35Tig Notaro?

Yeah, might as well. That's why we're here, right?

• 16:37Mae Martin?

Yeah. I, off, off pod, I gotta hear about Cameron Diaz and she seems like a delightful person.

• 16:44Tig Notaro?

Yeah, she's great. She's really great.

• 16:47Speaker 05

My answer is yes, I got to plan my best friend Brittany's bachelorette party, which Brittany and her wife, Ally, are huge fans of the pod. So shout out to those two.

• 16:58Mae Martin?

  Shout out.

• 16:59Speaker 05

I wanted to make sure we did something super memorable and unique. So I actually planned for us to do a beekeeping experience where we put on bee suits and harvested honey. We also went to like a gay bar and jumbo's clown room at the end of the night, but bees were the highlight. Thanks for the podcast. It's been a real lifeline for me. Love you.

• 17:20Tig Notaro?

Amazing. That's so nice to hear.

• 17:23Mae Martin?

Beekeeping, I mean, that sounds like a regular weekend for me, like an insane activity like that. Like, I do love a weird activity.

• 17:32Tig Notaro?

  I do love a beekeeper.

• 17:33Mae Martin?

  Beekeeper, yeah.

• 17:35Tig Notaro?

Just to go back real quickly, when we were teeing up this question from a listener, you said, oh, I'd love to hear about Cameron Diaz. And I said, oh, yeah, she's, she's great.

• 17:46Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 17:47Tig Notaro?

I have to praise her for a second because when Lake Bell was getting married.

• 17:52Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 17:53Tig Notaro?

I had just come through all of the hell that I had gone through in 2012. And so I was just kind of getting back out into life. And she overheard me saying to somebody, I just need a vacation, you know?

• 18:08Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 18:08Tig Notaro?

And she said, hey, she said, I have a house right on the ocean. And, and she said, it's the first place I ever bought. And it's not my house that I live in, but I would love it if you would go stay there and have your vacation right on the water. I did.

• 18:28Mae Martin?

  Shut up.

• 18:29Tig Notaro?

  I did. I did.

• 18:30Mae Martin?

  Oh, my God, that's incredible.

• 18:32Tig Notaro?

Yeah, yeah. It was really like unbelievable because I couldn't go anywhere. That was the other thing is I was saying is I had all of these doctor's appointments.

• 18:41Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 18:42Tig Notaro?

And it just, it just, everything was so up in the air. But it was really incredible what she did.

• 18:48Mae Martin?

Can I ask you if, if ever Stephanie's under the weather, there's an event that you have to go to and you need a plus one, I know I wouldn't be your first choice, but I would love to be your plus one to an event because I feel like you know everyone and I could just like grin and soak it all up. And you could just be like, this is a little cowboy.

• 19:10Tig Notaro?

I know a lot of people, but then you would know all the other people I don't know.

• 19:17Mae Martin?

Yeah, we'd be a good team.

• 19:18Tig Notaro?

Yeah, because if I haven't worked with them or socialized with them, I likely don't know them.

• 19:23Mae Martin?

You don't know who they are at all.

• 19:25Tig Notaro?

Yeah, I have to be on a party bus with them or on a TV show or something. But anyway, so shout out to Cameron Diaz for the incredible life-saving time away that she gave me.

• 19:36Mae Martin?

We should try and get a question from her.

• 19:38Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, that's a good idea.

• 19:40Mae Martin?

  Yeah, that'd be great.

• 19:41Tig Notaro?

  All right, next question, huh?

• 19:42Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 19:43Speaker 06

Hi handsome. My name's Carrie and my question is, what's the one thing or few things maybe that you have moved with you all of your adult life from place to place? It could be total crap. It's not an heirloom, just something that you have moved with you that you can't seem to throw away.

• 20:07Tig Notaro?

  That is so funny.

• 20:08Mae Martin?

  Great question.

• 20:09Tig Notaro?

  It really is.

• 20:10Mae Martin?

And so many things for me, like, but, well, not so many. Actually, do we, can I grab it?

• 20:18Tig Notaro?

  Yes, of course.

• 20:19Mae Martin?

  I'm just gonna grab it.

• 20:20Tig Notaro?

Oh my God, this is a YouTube highlight right now.

• 20:33Tig Notaro?

  Oh, there's me.

• 20:36Mae Martin?

Okay, this is not the, I'm missing half of them, but basically I have like trinkets, right? And I used to have them all displayed, but it felt too crowded or something. But it's things like this magical small box. Like at the moment, I got all these trinkets in here. So magical, small brass box. And I've collected all these things.

• 20:58Tig Notaro?

  What kind of magic?

• 21:00Mae Martin?

Well, it just has a certain magic to it.

• 21:03Tig Notaro?

  Okay.

• 21:03Mae Martin?

  And then this, this is.

• 21:06Tig Notaro?

By the way, showing me it again did not prove any sort of magic.

• 21:11Mae Martin?

This is, was a gift from someone. It's Baltic amber and inside it has an insect inclusion and it's 35 to 50 million years old.

• 21:21Tig Notaro?

Oh my, okay. Can you leave that to Max in your will?

• 21:23Mae Martin?

Yes, 100%. Yeah. I mean, someone probably bought it on eBay and it could be fake, but. Yeah, just things like that.

• 21:31Tig Notaro?

No chance that's fake for me, May.

• 21:33Mae Martin?

Yeah. This is a Victorian, I found this in an antique shop when I was like 20. It's a Victorian Feng Shui compass and I don't know how to use it, but it's

• 21:45Tig Notaro?

  Hold on to it.

• 21:46Mae Martin?

It's got like the I Ching symbols and if you, I mean, it's not pointing north right now, but it'll show you like, yeah, it, I don't know, things like that that have a sort of power to them, but they're almost too powerful like to, to have out.

• 22:01Tig Notaro?

  So put them away.

• 22:02Mae Martin?

  I'm putting them away now.

• 22:03Tig Notaro?

Yeah, what the hell are you doing?

• 22:04Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah. What about you?

• 22:06Tig Notaro?

I've collected, um, rock magazines over the years.

• 22:12Mae Martin?

  Like Rolling Stone?

• 22:13Tig Notaro?

Rolling Stone, Spin, Cream Magazine, all, all of these different magazines. And, um, in an unfortunate twist, though.

• 22:23Mae Martin?

  No.

• 22:24Tig Notaro?

Our garage flooded and those got wet and molded. And they were like, classic, classic, old, collectible rock magazines. So I have to, next week, I'm cleaning out the garage and part of that is saying goodbye to my, eh, Rock and Roll Magazine collection. It wasn't like, um, a billion magazines. It was just, um, like a crate full, you know?

• 22:57Mae Martin?

Those things that you've had for so long that you just know those cover images so well and it's nostalgic, like even, did your parents have National Geographic in the house?

• 23:08Tig Notaro?

  No.

• 23:09Mae Martin?

We had like National Geographic magazine and there's just like a few iconic covers that are just

• 23:13Tig Notaro?

Yeah, that woman with the green eyes.

• 23:15Mae Martin?

  Yes, yeah.

• 23:16Tig Notaro?

Is that the most famous cover?

• 23:18Mae Martin?

I think so. Or does she have, is it, yeah, are they different color or, or they're just so green?

• 23:23Tig Notaro?

I think they're just so green and her skin's very dark and she's really beautiful and

• 23:29Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 23:29Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 23:30Mae Martin?

  That's an incredible

• 23:30Tig Notaro?

  Everyone knows that cover.

• 23:32Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 23:33Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 23:34Mae Martin?

  Should we hear the answer?

• 23:35Tig Notaro?

I think we should, May. Thomas, can we hear the answer?

• 23:39Mae Martin?

  Please, Thomas.

• 23:40Tig Notaro?

  Thomas, please play it.

• 23:41Mae Martin?

  Please.

• 23:42Speaker 04

Okay, since you asked so nicely.

• 23:44Speaker 06

I'm in the middle of moving from Saudi Arabia back to the States and I'm not doing a shipment. I'm doing everything in, in suitcases. The same as I did when I moved here to Saudi 10 years ago. And I realized I have a scrub, like a medical top that the medical professionals wear. I have one that I've moved, that I've had it since college and I've never worn it. I cannot seem to get rid of it. I feel like I'm supposed, I don't know where it came from. I have no idea. I think maybe it was my mom's, but I don't know. I suppose I could ask her. Anyway, what's your thing that you've just wagged from place to place and you can't get rid of?

• 24:29Speaker 06

I look forward to hearing your answers and thank y'all for always making me laugh.

• 24:33Tig Notaro?

Oh, my gosh. Well, first of all, we already told you. But second of all, how much did she remind me of Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

• 24:42Mae Martin?

Oh, yeah. Now that you mention it, yeah.

• 24:45Tig Notaro?

  She seems really delightful.

• 24:46Mae Martin?

We don't even know if there are any doctors in the family. Like, it seems to me like she's like, maybe it was my mom's, but like.

• 24:54Tig Notaro?

  She shouldn't have a clue.

• 24:56Mae Martin?

  She doesn't have a clue.

• 24:56Tig Notaro?

She shouldn't know what the hell's going on.

• 24:58Mae Martin?

  Yeah, so what she's just.

• 24:59Tig Notaro?

  Classic Carrie, man.

• 25:00Mae Martin?

  Lugging it around.

• 25:02Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 25:02Mae Martin?

And it's an unworn doctor scrub. Wow.

• 25:07Tig Notaro?

  Good luck with that.

• 25:08Mae Martin?

But I like where she almost said, and then she kind of stopped herself. I feel like I'm supposed to have it, or like I, it'll come, like, I feel like there's a superstition there. Like, it's in your life for a reason, so hold on to it. If you suddenly, you suddenly have to do surgery on the go or something.
