Good evening, gentle listeners or watchers, and welcome to Distractible. This episode, waterlogging Wade maniacally masticates, fanatically flosses, then gets into the Templars terror, magnifiable Mark teaches movie mic moments, fires more staff, mentions magnificent Mary, scrubscreams seven, slaughters Norse words, and fucks Gaston, Robding Naggy and Bob gains high mileage, lengthily lambasts Wade, proposes buying peen, and dodges horror, from ADR to frigatriskadecophobia.

• 1:08Speaker 01

Ha ha ha ha ha. It's time for Friday the 13th. Now sit back and prepare to be distracted and enjoy the show.

• 1:25Speaker 02

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of Distractible. I'm today's host because fate solid fit to be so. Joining is always my co-hosts Mark and Bob. This is the show where one of us hosts that you can be performed, whoever has the most of the end gets to win and host the next one. Hi guys.

• 1:39Speaker 03

  Hello.

• 1:40Speaker 04

  Hi.

• 1:42Speaker 02

All right, that's all I had. That's all I had in my script. So you guys talk now. What's up? What's new?

• 1:45Speaker 03

That's the whole, that's the whole episode.

• 1:47Speaker 02

  That's the episode. We're done.

• 1:49Speaker 04

I mean, I've got a interesting little tidbit about the movie that not many people would know.

• 1:56Speaker 04

Apple just announced this whole new line of things, one of them, which is a new display, which is very expensive. And I'm not saying I recommend it, but I will, I will say this, there were certain moments in the movie where you need ADR. ADR stands for

• 2:13Speaker 03

  Oh, sure, sure.

• 2:16Speaker 04

Yeah, it's where you record a line that wasn't captured on set, either because it wasn't captured well, or you you're trying to replace a dialogue or sneak something in, right? So there's a couple of moments where it is. And the trouble with ADR is that it stands out if it's not done well. Right? Usually in the circumstances, I'm working with Brad, the sound guy, and he's got a good microphone, we're in a good sound environment. And I've done it on my own during the edit, where I've like, I've got, I've got access to good microphones. I've got good sound environments. I know how to do that. And I know how to record. So I've done ADR through a couple of times throughout the movie where I've done it with like, this condenser mic, which is, you know, it didn't work because, you know, we didn't have this type of mic on set. So clearly that isn't right. So I got the exact shotgun microphone and lav that we had on set. And I tried that. And it still

• 3:01Speaker 04

wasn't quite a perfect match. But you know, Brad was able to massage it a bit better. And then I got really high end, like shotgun mic that was a stereo mic. And I'm like, okay, let's try to try something else here funky. And it didn't get well. Well, I got to tell you, on that, one of the final passes of the edit, I recorded some temp stuff because I was like, I'm not even gonna worry about it. I'm not even gonna try to make this match. I'm not gonna set up my big microphone. There's a microphone in this monitor. I'm just gonna record it temp. So I have it. And I know to replace it. It'll sound so bad that it it'll be so easy to replace. Gets over to Brad, he messages me, or when I show up there for this final stage, like, man, whatever mic you used for these last ADR was really good. Like, it just melted right in. It was perfect.

• 3:47Speaker 04

It just sat so good in there. And I was like, you motherfucker. That was on a monitor. It was a monitor's microphone built in. It was one of Apple's studio displays. And that's not to say that that's the greatest microphone ever. But I have to remember, and this is important about ADR is if you're recording stuff on set, you have to remember that that is not a perfect sound environment. You especially the iron lung, the sub is literally a barrel, right? It's got reverb. There's no sound dampening. It's kind of a not clean environment. There's also in a warehouse, you know, kind of like bleeds out, bleeds in. The thing about that microphone is like, it's just shitty enough that it replicates the the kind of bad environment.

• 4:29Speaker 04

And it's important because the size of the room I was recording was just a regular bedroom, but it kind of is roughly the size of that room. It's not barrel shaped, but you know, it's so it's important to remember. It's not about the best, highest quality equipment that you could possibly get, especially when you're doing ADR, because you didn't, you might've had good equipment, but you didn't have a controlled environment when you're recording it on set. And almost all of the stuff in the movie still sounds good because it just has that room. And if you have a clean room with no reverb, it's not going to sound as good because well, it won't sound right because it won't match everything else, right? Okay, there you go. That's my lesson about.

• 5:05Speaker 03

I do like that. That's very funny. I've definitely watched movies and TV where they're like the the dialogue has a certain quality to it. And then you get to a moment where they clearly did it. It did some ADR or to put something in and they're like, then we go outside. Whoa, what the fuck? It's not even like it's bad audio. It's just like jarring when the there's nothing happening but a person talking, but you're like, did we just teleport? Did we time travel? What happened? Some water along my ear.

• 5:38Speaker 04

Yeah, I I've heard of situations where actors sometimes refuse to go into an ADR studio to go do something. Um, and they just recorded on their phone and sometimes there are bad ADR just because the actor didn't or couldn't make it into a sound booth. Um, but at the same time, uh, working with Caroline, who was, who's, uh, Ava in the, the movie, I think I can say her name now. I would sometimes say, you know, you could just record this on your phone. It's going to come through a shitty. It's going to sound like a shitty speaker anyway, so it might work for it. She's like, no, no, no, I'll make time. I'll go to the studio. It's no problem. And I'm like, all right. Like I totally respect the, the work ethic and admiration for it. And I'm like, I want you to have a professional environment.

• 6:17Speaker 03

So then you played her voice on a speaker and recorded on your phone anyway.

• 6:20Speaker 04

Yes, exactly. And then I played it again and we used that to get in there. Anyway, so it's, uh, sound is funny sometimes. So the amount of nuance that people can pick up, especially of like bad sound, quote unquote, bad sound spaces is not bad. It's natural to that space. And I think that, you know, if I'm going into future projects, I gotta keep that in mind to like, bad sound isn't bad if it fits what it's supposed to be and, and setting yourself away from the highest quality things can, um, allow you to see the options that are there that I never would have considered because it is a goddamn microphone in a monitor.

• 6:55Speaker 03

You would never even have used that accidentally. Like it's weird that that came up and it wasn't like you recorded on your phone or some on your, YouTube setup or something. You were just like, fuck, whatever. This fucking thing. It's plugged in. Let's do it.

• 7:08Speaker 04

It's plugged in. That's all I said. Yeah. And it, and it, it literally sounded exactly like we, we captured it on set. It was crazy. And it was only for a couple of lines there, but yeah.

• 7:19Speaker 03

That's cool though. I mean, I, I thought he was being sarcastic. Like I thought the whole setup was he was being sarcastic. That's why you fired him.

• 7:24Speaker 04

No, no. Well, yes, I fired him along with the VFX team and literally everybody, yeah, retroactively fired everybody.

• 7:30Speaker 03

That way you didn't have to pay in their bonuses.

• 7:32Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's the whole, no, man, you know me.

• 7:35Speaker 03

And also I have things going on.

• 7:38Speaker 02

  Great. It's your turn.

• 7:40Speaker 03

Oh, that was my full update. Um,

• 7:43Speaker 04

  Oh, okay.

• 7:44Speaker 03

It's been, uh, the, the walking. I saw a post on the subreddit of someone who was like, Bob's walking a mile a day this year. And I was like, that's a good idea. And then I realized that according to their Apple Watch, they already walk like two, two and a half to five miles a day because of work or something. And they were like, well, I'm just gonna walk more. I think their goal is like 10,000 steps a day, but it's, it's working and I am keeping up. It's, it's been difficult. We traveled and we had other stuff going on, but as of right now, I can get the actual, nope, it's not gonna happen. There it is. I have 58 miles under my belt and I believe that's approximately the right number of days in this year. Uh, so I'm still on track, which is exciting.

• 8:30Speaker 04

  That's awesome.

• 8:31Speaker 03

It's getting, it's getting to the point now where in the beginning it was exciting and I got, I definitely got into the point where it was like, oh, this sucks. We're traveling. I don't want to do this. And I'm starting to finally get back into a rhythm and it's getting to that point where it's like, I'm succeeding. I just need to make it till the end of the year. Like I'm getting, it's a habit. So it's not like, it's not new and exciting, but I'm like invested in it now, which feels good. It's hard to get there with stuff, especially stuff that's like exercise is just not a core part of my habitual routines in any way, but it feels good that it kind of is now. And if I keep going, like it'll build and maybe I'll do more than just walk a mile, hopefully. But that's, you know,

• 9:13Speaker 03

keeping the mile a day thing is feeling really good, which is not unsurprising, a little surprising, but I'm glad it's working.

• 9:20Speaker 04

Yeah. From what I've learned about when I hated running to when I was okay with running and I still don't like running is so long as you sit in the point where you think you could do more and you don't push yourself too soon to go to the next step, you'll always stay in that kind of, I'm okay with this. You just don't want to be in the, I hate everything about everything stage and, but I'm not even exercising.

• 9:41Speaker 03

It's a, it's an easy trap. Like I get on social media and stuff. I get things, you know, influencers, fitness people where it's like, oh, I could do that. What if If I add and I'm and part of me is like, oh, no, keep build the habit. Don't add too much. But then my other brother of my brain is like, you lazy fuck. You could do way more. What are you talking about? Yeah. And I'm like, no, no, right. We're still like, we're sticking to a mile, maybe a couple of miles. We're sticking to doable until it's a habit. And then, because I a hundred percent, if it becomes a thing where I'm like, oh, I hate this. I stopped doing it. I'm awful at maintaining habits like that until it's like ingrained. This might be the longest I've ever stuck with a New Year's resolution. It's pretty good. It's progress.

• 10:22Speaker 02

It was really good. Best I can relate is I've been a lot better about flossing my teeth. Like brushing, I do. Flossing was like once or twice a week, but I've been flossing at least once a day.

• 10:31Speaker 03

That's a lot of flossing. Jesus.

• 10:33Speaker 02

  I've been doing it.

• 10:34Speaker 03

Yeah, but nobody flosses once a day.

• 10:36Speaker 02

I know, but I actually like have been.

• 10:38Speaker 03

Well, I floss once a week. I'm like, all right, close enough.

• 10:41Speaker 02

I don't know why or whatever reason, but I've just been doing it more.

• 10:44Speaker 03

Yeah, well, it's all good. Taking care of ourselves is good because you know why?

• 10:49Speaker 05

  We're not getting younger.

• 10:52Speaker 03

It's actually what my next episode is going to be about.

• 10:54Speaker 04

Can I also say one thing that is very funny that I'm discovering?

• 10:58Speaker 02

No. Yeah, go ahead. What's up?

• 11:02Speaker 03

Cut recording, Mark. Just tell me I'm interested.

• 11:05Speaker 04

This is one of those things where it's like, even talking about this, I could, I could tell like it could crossover into me being pompous and weird and elitist and whatnot. But I find it very funny because the movie came out, so theaters are paying their share. Like I've talked about that before on interviews and stuff. It's like a 50 50 split between theaters and me for, for the pay minus the percentage that the, that Centurion Films, the people helping out the small company with the small theaters thing. They're sending checks. Almost all of them are sending physical checks, each individual theater. So.

• 11:42Speaker 06

  It's me, the.

• 11:45Speaker 06

We don't need the jingle twice. Stop it. This is about vacation inflation and how Priceline negotiates.

• 11:52Speaker 07

amazing deals on hotels, flights and rental cars.

• 11:57Speaker 07

Yeah, but I didn't mention that you can save up to 60% off hotels in the Priceline app.

• 12:03Speaker 07

Fine. No one deals more deals than. Please stop. Touche.

• 12:10Speaker 07

  Priceline.

• 12:11Speaker 04

That's how I operate still. Is that bad?

• 12:13Speaker 02

  Do you write checks?

• 12:14Speaker 03

I actually have a follow up on that Wade. I have an interesting follow up from the subreddit on that, but Mark, continue your story. They're sending you physical checks for some fucking reason.

• 12:23Speaker 04

And, and it's not even a problem that I have to deal with, but it's a problem that my accountant has to deal with. Cause uh, Mary is her name and she's great. She, we, we've been working together for years and years and years now.

• 12:33Speaker 03

I know Mary. She's the best.

• 12:34Speaker 04

Yeah, Mary's the best, right? So Mary has to, has to make trips to the bank with like bundles of checks this big. And I'm like, do you, do you need like security or something? Do you, do you need someone to help you with it? And it's like they're, they're, they're, it, it's really wonderful. It's so cool. Like get paid and obviously I would give a bonus to the crew and this is great. The dollar amounts to kind of like make your mind explode sometimes, but the, I haven't seen a picture of it, but it's a visual imagery of just like a bundle of checks like in, in.

• 13:07Speaker 02

There's some blowing away because she just can't carry them all.

• 13:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 13:12Speaker 04

Anyway, it's 2026 and, and they're still sending checks, which is perfectly valid. It's a very okay thing to do. I think it's just funny.

• 13:18Speaker 03

Mary's office is like that scene from Harry Potter where they're trying to get him the invitation to Hogwarts.

• 13:26Speaker 03

She's just like in the, in the office like fuck all of God.

• 13:30Speaker 04

Yeah. Yeah. So it's, it's a, it's an interesting time because right now is like a month after the movie came out, which is weird to think like, I feel like it's been out for months now.

• 13:39Speaker 03

That is crazy. It still feels like it just happened.

• 13:41Speaker 04

But it's, it's been just about one month, which you know, things usually get paid on a, on a next month basis. So uh, it's a fun novel thing that I am experiencing.

• 13:51Speaker 03

That's so silly. And Wade, the subreddit, a banker wanted you to know, using checks is actually the least secure way you can deal with money in, in the modern world. Because on a check is your bank account, you generally your full name and address, any information they might need to fully impersonate you. And also apparently thieves, whatever, forgers, whatever they are, can just take a check that you've written for some actual thing and wash the ink off or whatever, some wash it, whatever that means, and then just make it a check to themselves from you.

• 14:27Speaker 02

I thought it was weird that I had bought an island in the middle of the Pacific.

• 14:30Speaker 03

So anyway, you're wrong and you should stop with that. And so should movie theaters. How, who wants to write a check? I don't even know if I have physical checks. If someone, if I had to do something and they were like, oh, you need to write a check. I'd be like, ah, never mind.

• 14:45Speaker 03

Whatever this is, I'll figure it out. I'll go somewhere else. That's fun.

• 14:49Speaker 02

All right. I'll make a note of that. I'll still do it. Some companies you have to like, there's no online payment. So like they force you to.

• 14:54Speaker 03

I have zero interactions with companies that require me to send them physical money.

• 14:59Speaker 02

We had like a lawn care company come through because we had like a couple of trees go down. And whenever they sent the bill, like the only option to pay them was mailing a check.

• 15:06Speaker 03

That's like my first question. When I hire like, so when I work on the house or like do like fix, you know, or handyman, whatever, I get the reviews and then I message them and I'm like, hey, can you fix a broken sink? And also do you take digital forms of payment? And if the answer to either of my questions is no, I'm like, ah, it fixed itself and talk to the next one.

• 15:28Speaker 02

I've never thought to ask that follow up. I'm always like, review. Good. You do a good job. You know what tree is? You can remove the tree. Great. We work together.

• 15:38Speaker 03

That's crazy, man. That's crazy work. I could never.

• 15:40Speaker 02

It's not hard. Writing a check really is not that difficult.

• 15:43Speaker 03

I mean, I know how to do it. The problem is not that it's difficult. The problem is, why the fuck would you want to do that? It's such a pain. It means you gotta mail it. It means you have to have stamps? I don't have stamps. Who the fuck has stamps?

• 15:52Speaker 02

Oh, we got some Betty Whites right now. I forget the other one. We got some stamps.

• 15:55Speaker 03

You have kinds of stamps? What? You're in the wrong generation, man. Are you as old as you look?

• 16:01Speaker 04

Man, he's been insulting the host so much this episode. Usually that's devastating.

• 16:06Speaker 03

Oh wait, Mark's not hosting? Ah, that's right. Damn it. Uh, no, anyway, I mean, do what you want. I don't actually care, but I, I just think it's crazy that the, there's because you're not the only one. There are still so many people and then clearly industries like the movie theaters or whatever that use paper checks. And I'm like, oh.

• 16:22Speaker 02

I should be working with the movie industries. Mark, you cut down trees. I will take your checks. We'll switch roles.

• 16:28Speaker 04

We will buy a movie theater.

• 16:29Speaker 03

Yeah, no, Wade, you would be perfect to run the movie theater. Mark was right.

• 16:34Speaker 02

If all I have to do is sit back and write checks, yes, I'm your man.

• 16:38Speaker 03

Apparently that's a huge part of it.

• 16:40Speaker 04

  Huge.

• 16:40Speaker 03

That's one of the biggest things movie theaters do. They show movies and then they write checks.

• 16:44Speaker 04

I mean, it's gotta be because they're writing to all the different movie companies. Like they're showing a bunch of them.

• 16:48Speaker 02

I'm not gonna lie, Bob. I thought you were about to tell Mark about the town.

• 16:52Speaker 03

No, I wasn't gonna bring that up. That's, well, now you did.

• 16:54Speaker 02

  Yeah, I guess I did.

• 16:55Speaker 04

  What the town?

• 16:57Speaker 03

I feel like you have to tell him about it now.

• 16:59Speaker 02

So there's apparently a whole town for sale.

• 17:01Speaker 03

  It's a village.

• 17:02Speaker 02

Yeah, it comes with a church, some houses, some other stuff.

• 17:06Speaker 03

It's in Maine and it had like 20, 26 structures or something.

• 17:10Speaker 04

Wait, six million for how much stuff?

• 17:12Speaker 03

  For a whole village.

• 17:13Speaker 04

  A whole village.

• 17:14Speaker 03

A whole little cute little town up in Maine, $6 million. It had like 20, it had like 30 structures, 26, 30, some number of buildings, houses, like Wade said, like there's a church.

• 17:26Speaker 04

  Oh my God, it's not six, it's 5.5. 25 structures, 50 acres?

• 17:31Speaker 03

Oh, and you know what we could put in that town? A movie theater.

• 17:36Speaker 04

Wait, it's delightful. Also, it looks fake. There's this like facade of what looks like a row of garage doors. Have you seen this?

• 17:44Speaker 03

I didn't really look at it. Wait, what's it, what's it called? What did you search?

• 17:47Speaker 04

If you just scroll down some, it looks like, oh, this is charming. It's charming, charming. And then get to like the fifth picture that just says garage. Wait a minute.

• 17:56Speaker 03

Whoa, wait, yeah, what the fuck?

• 17:59Speaker 03

It's a Realtor.com article, charming antique village in Maine for sale. But that is just actually a facade of a, it's like a fake stable house.

• 18:08Speaker 04

  It's so weird.

• 18:09Speaker 03

The front wall. That's really what.

• 18:10Speaker 04

  Never seen anything like it.

• 18:12Speaker 03

But like the rest, a lot of tons of these look super awesome. Some of these have cars parked in front of them, like people live there. I don't understand what this is exactly.

• 18:21Speaker 04

We could buy this and then have a permanent town to film things in forever.

• 18:26Speaker 02

My DM over at Lost Initiatives, when he told me about this, and he's like, you could tell Mark, he could film there, or he could, and I was like-

• 18:31Speaker 03

They have a pond. We could do our boat episodes on the pond.

• 18:35Speaker 04

  Oh, moving to Maine.

• 18:37Speaker 03

Peen house, peen, uh, peen town, peen town.

• 18:41Speaker 02

  Town, town, town.

• 18:42Speaker 04

We're really upgrading, guys. We're gonna have a Kickstarter going, uh, for no other reason than to give us money so that we don't have to spend-

• 18:49Speaker 02

  I hope they take checks.

• 18:51Speaker 03

It'll be a great investment for anyone who wants to send us a paper check in the mail, like it's 1937.

• 18:57Speaker 04

Yeah, the entire distractible audience is gonna live in this 50-acre spot. I think we can make it work. Taxes will be crazy high.

• 19:05Speaker 02

  Can we start a cult?

• 19:07Speaker 04

  Start?

• 19:09Speaker 03

Yeah, just five and a half million dollars, and you could own your very own town. Not you, Mark, but like, listeners, you could own your very own village in Maine called Tuffle. What's it called? Tuthill?

• 19:20Speaker 04

Tuthill. You think Ethan knows this place? It's, it's, uh, he was in Maine, right?

• 19:24Speaker 03

He's from Maine. He's a Maine boy, right?

• 19:26Speaker 02

  He was probably born here.

• 19:31Speaker 02

Well, there you have it. Some of you can look it up and see what we're talking about. The rest of you, just use your imaginations. Hopefully no ampha- afan- aphantasia. I'm fine.

• 19:40Speaker 03

  Hopefully no amphetamaniacs.

• 19:42Speaker 04

Everyone slam your amphetamines. Get ready, the episode's about to go wild.

• 19:45Speaker 02

It is, because do you know what I think today is if I did my math correct? Friday the-

• 19:52Speaker 02

That wasn't as creepy as, it was more weird than creepy. Um, editors make me creepy.

• 19:57Speaker 03

  I'm scared.

• 19:58Speaker 02

So, other than the franchise, Friday the 13th, right? We all know Jason Voorhees and all that, and his mom, and whatever. Why the hell is Friday the 13th a thing? Why is that franchise? Why Friday the 13th? Like, what's the deal with Friday the 13th? So what we're gonna do is we're gonna dig deep. We're investigative reporters, and by we, I mean you two, and you're gonna just let me know, why Friday the 13th? Why is 13th bad? Why Friday the 13th? Why not Tuesday the 13th? I wanna know all the things about 13th, Friday the 13th, luck, unlock, misfortune, anything tangentially related.

• 20:30Speaker 04

  Tangent. I call tangent rights.

• 20:33Speaker 02

Okay, a Bob sign and co-sign are still available. Math jokes.

• 20:37Speaker 03

  That's funny, Wade.

• 20:39Speaker 04

  Uh, Scream 7, saw that.

• 20:44Speaker 03

What do you mean saw that? Is that new?

• 20:45Speaker 04

  I saw it.

• 20:47Speaker 03

Oh, do you have any thoughts?

• 20:49Speaker 04

I look, I, do I have any more opinions on horror movies now that I've made one? Can I officially have stronger opinions about that?

• 20:56Speaker 02

  You're a professional. Yeah, you're.

• 20:58Speaker 03

You made the number one horror movie in America and definitely Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

• 21:03Speaker 04

That's true. That's very true. Scream seven, did they do Friday the 13th is with Jason, right? Not with Michael Myers.

• 21:10Speaker 02

  That's Halloween.

• 21:11Speaker 03

  Halloween.

• 21:12Speaker 04

That's Halloween. And then Scream seven is, but those are like the three, right?

• 21:16Speaker 02

Uh, Texas Chainsaw Massacre has a leather face. Scream has ghost face.

• 21:20Speaker 04

No, but I mean, like of the same era, right? Didn't they all come out roughly the same? No, Scream one came out later.

• 21:24Speaker 02

Scream is nineties. Uh, you're thinking of from Nightmare on Elm Street.

• 21:28Speaker 03

Yeah, Nightmare on Elm Street and, and Halloween and Friday the 13th, I would.

• 21:32Speaker 04

Then never mind. This has nothing to do with anything. I, I think it was a, I, it was, it was a movie.

• 21:39Speaker 03

Great. This just in filmmaker Mark blasts new Scream movie for not even being scary. Quote, uh, whatever.

• 21:49Speaker 04

  Slam Scream seven.

• 21:52Speaker 02

I gave you a point mark. It just says Scream seven equals exists. This is from an expert in horror movie making.

• 21:58Speaker 03

That's math. I can honestly say I've never actually watched a whole Scream movie start to finish.

• 22:05Speaker 02

Oh, the first one was really good. The second one was, I mean, I remember enjoying the first few.

• 22:08Speaker 03

  It's, it's a horror movie. It's a scary movie, right? Scary?

• 22:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 22:12Speaker 03

Yeah, pass. You guys would probably judge me very harshly for the, uh, movies I have not seen because they are scary and I don't watch scary movies.

• 22:20Speaker 02

  The Notebook.

• 22:21Speaker 03

Dude, that's the most terrifying movie. I have seen The Notebook and I fucking hate it because my mom's mom had Alzheimer's and that is one of my greatest fears and exist. I think we talked about that. That's one of my biggest fears in life is that I'm going to lose my mind and forget the people who care about me and forget like that actually, that movie actually does, like it's supposed to be like a love story, whatever. And it's kind of sad, but that movie makes me more depressed and terrified than anything I've ever watched and I hated.

• 22:49Speaker 02

Then you'd be fine with Scream one.

• 22:50Speaker 03

  Uh, pass. Okay.

• 22:53Speaker 02

I had him there. Thought I had him there.

• 22:54Speaker 03

I feel like I probably should watch that, though. I like it. Sort of in the it's sort of in the lexicon.

• 22:59Speaker 04

I've only ever seen Scream seven now. That's the only one I've seen.

• 23:03Speaker 02

Okay, episode, a podcast out. We're gonna go watch some Scream movies together.

• 23:07Speaker 03

You know, you know why everyone hates Friday? It's because that's when all the scary movies come out. Come out on Friday.

• 23:12Speaker 02

  That true?

• 23:13Speaker 04

Except for Thursday where they have preview night, but that's officially every theater does it.

• 23:17Speaker 03

That's not the release, though. The the release date is on Friday.

• 23:21Speaker 02

I tried to see Iron Lung on a Thursday, but it was sold out.

• 23:24Speaker 03

In like a couple more decades, it'd be like, the movie comes out on Friday. See early release screenings Tuesday night.

• 23:30Speaker 02

It's like Black Friday sales that then became Thanksgiving, that then became the day before Thanksgiving. Wasn't there an Ice Cube series that was called like Friday or something?

• 23:37Speaker 03

I'm having a memory of something that was I feel what you're I feel what you're memorizing.

• 23:43Speaker 04

Uh, I have an update. Breaking news. Triscadeca phobia. Tris Triscad Triskai decophobia. That's the fear of thirteen. And then fear of Friday the thirteenth is called Perisca videcadrevobia.

• 24:01Speaker 03

Can I just say I typed Triskai decophobia into Google and spelled it right on my first attempt?

• 24:08Speaker 04

  Really?

• 24:09Speaker 03

  Can I just say that?

• 24:11Speaker 04

  Holy shit.

• 24:12Speaker 03

Wait, why is this in Spanish?

• 24:14Speaker 02

  Como?

• 24:15Speaker 04

You spelled the Spanish version of it.

• 24:17Speaker 03

I typed it into I typed it into Google. I just typed Triskai decophobia and Google's AI overview is La Triscadeca phobia es el miedo a version or I don't speak Spanish, so you can only pronounce it. Why is it in Spanish?

• 24:31Speaker 02

It's like I'm in Spain right now.

• 24:33Speaker 03

AI always works. That's why it's everywhere. It's so so good.

• 24:37Speaker 04

Uh, there's also Perisca videcatria phobia. There's a free guy tree sky decophobia, which is Old Norse for the fear of thirteen. Hey, sky deck, which is thirteen in ancient Greek and phobos, which is fear. That's where it all in the original.

• 24:56Speaker 02

Sorry, I was really allergic to Norse, Old Norse.

• 24:58Speaker 03

Doesn't seem like that bad of a number to me. Like, I, I know that that's the, that's the superstitions. And like, that's just, seems fine. Seems like a fine number. I feel like there are way worse numbers.

• 25:08Speaker 02

Two of the best years I ever had playing basketball. My number was 13 and 22. So those have always been numbers I've liked.

• 25:13Speaker 03

Seventeen seems like a terrible number to me. Seventeen has a bad vibe about it, and I don't care for it. But nobody gets all up in a twist about seventeen. They're all focused on the wrong one, I feel like.

• 25:25Speaker 04

I've never picked up that on seventeen. I don't, then again, I haven't really picked up that thirteen's unlucky.

• 25:30Speaker 03

  Buuuut.

• 25:32Speaker 02

Seventeen's a waste of a year. Sixteen, you could drive. Eighteen, you're an adult. Seventeen, hmm, just a, just a number in between.

• 25:38Speaker 03

  Seventeen is just a number?

• 25:40Speaker 02

I feel like I'm walking closer to a moral area I don't want to go to with words like that.

• 25:45Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, that's what.

• 25:47Speaker 02

After Mark's reaction, I was like, maybe.

• 25:49Speaker 04

I can see the headline now. Wade distractible co-host says seventeen's just a number, everyone.

• 25:56Speaker 02

Sixteen, you could drive. Eighteen, you're an adult. Seventeen, just a number.

• 26:00Speaker 04

I have on the unluckiness of thirteen, according to the Wikipedia. One source mentioned for the unlucky reputation of the number thirteen is a Norse myth about twelve gods, which has been said is like the perfect number. I don't know why.

• 26:15Speaker 02

  Tyler loves the number twelve.

• 26:16Speaker 04

Oh, he does. Yeah, that's true. Having a dinner party in Valhalla, the trickster god Loki, who is not invited, arrived as the thirteenth guest and arranged for.

• 26:26Speaker 02

  Whore, whore.

• 26:29Speaker 04

  Excuse me?

• 26:30Speaker 02

  Whore.

• 26:32Speaker 04

  The god of darkness.

• 26:33Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 26:34Speaker 04

H, O with two dots, O with a whole fuck tonery of things above it, and R.

• 26:41Speaker 02

  Whore.

• 26:42Speaker 04

The god of darkness to shoot Balder, the god of joy and gladness, with a mistletoe tipped arrow Balder. I saw this in God of War, triggering much suffering in the world, which caused the number thirteen to be considered unlucky. Coincidentally, the Christian association of this same dinner with twelve disciples and the thirteenth being Judas. I didn't know the similarities between those two mythologies.

• 27:03Speaker 02

And the movie Thirteen Ghosts with the guy who played Monk?

• 27:06Speaker 03

  And the movie Thirteen Candles?

• 27:08Speaker 04

And the movie Jim Carrey's The Number Twenty Three Minus Ten?

• 27:13Speaker 02

Oh, I remember the sequel. Yeah.

• 27:14Speaker 03

Oh, there's that Catherine Heigl chick flick, Thirteen Dresses?

• 27:18Speaker 04

  Hmm. Thirteen Going on Thirty?

• 27:21Speaker 02

The Disney sequel, Thirteen Dalmatians Left?

• 27:24Speaker 04

  Oh, fuck.

• 27:25Speaker 03

Who could forget the classic M. Night Shyamalan movie, Thirteenth Sense?

• 27:31Speaker 02

  I think dead people.

• 27:36Speaker 03

I sneeze dead people. It's when you feel a sneeze.

• 27:40Speaker 04

I, what about my favorite Stephen King book turned into movie Shawshank Thirteen?

• 27:48Speaker 03

Oh, I thought you were talking about It's Thirteen.

• 27:52Speaker 02

What was that movie on the boat with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet? Tit Thirteen?

• 27:58Speaker 04

  I loved The Green Thirteen.

• 28:00Speaker 03

  The Eminem movie, Thirteenth Mile.

• 28:03Speaker 04

  That's all. I don't have any more.

• 28:04Speaker 03

Guys, I got a meme. Did you know the wreck of the Costa Concordia cruise ship happened on Friday, January thirteenth, twenty twelve?

• 28:14Speaker 02

  Hmm. I did not. Coincidence?

• 28:17Speaker 03

I think not. Or no, I do think. Would the, is the correct inverse of that statement, I think is then?

• 28:24Speaker 02

I would have thought I think so, but I guess is.

• 28:26Speaker 04

Okay, this is a funny thing. Um.

• 28:31Speaker 02

  I was just preparing myself.

• 28:32Speaker 03

Wait, keep your real laugh to yourself. It's terrifying. God, I hate that.

• 28:36Speaker 02

  Funny!

• 28:38Speaker 04

Yeah, no, okay, just wait till I say the thing, man. Just wait, you'll see, you'll see. All right. There is always at least one Friday, the thirteenth per calendar year, but it can be as long as fourteen months between two Friday, the thirteenth. But there will always be one, except that it could be fourteen months in between each one.

• 29:00Speaker 02

So if one was in December, fourteen months later would skip a year, though.

• 29:03Speaker 03

One could be in March and then one could be in November or something, right?

• 29:09Speaker 04

But it says that there, at least Wikipedia is saying that there will always be one Friday, the thirteenth per calendar year.

• 29:15Speaker 02

Also, Friday, the thirteenth has never fallen on a Monday.

• 29:18Speaker 03

Is that Jim? Just true of every day and every number of the month. Is that one of those things where you read it and you're like, wow, and it's like, oh, wait, that's that's just how numbers work.

• 29:29Speaker 02

I do see that there was a book that came out in the early 1900s about Friday the 13th, which apparently maybe added to the superstition about it.

• 29:37Speaker 04

What about a baker's dozen? A baker's dozen is 13 items, but that's good thing. Why do bakers have immunity to the curse of 13?

• 29:45Speaker 02

Well, because bakers are good and dozen is good. Therefore, you put them together and it makes something bad. Two positives make a negative, right?

• 29:51Speaker 03

I see what Mark's getting at.

• 29:53Speaker 04

  Bakers are evil.

• 29:55Speaker 02

You want to rebrand Friday the 13th?

• 30:00Speaker 02

But there were you're born, ah, April baker's dozen, 1902. I'm very old.

• 30:05Speaker 03

  We know.

• 30:06Speaker 04

Oh, wait, okay, wait, no, it's not as good. Hold on a second. Baker's dozen might actually also be cursed. There are a few theories as to why baker's dozen became 13, but the most widely accepted one has to do with avoiding a beating. In medieval England, there were laws related to the price of bread and the price of the wheat used to make it. Bakers who were found to be cheating their customers by overpricing undersized loaves were subject to strict punishment, including fines or flogging. Even with careful planning, it is difficult to ensure that all of your baked goods come out the same size. There may be fluctuations in rising and baking and air content, and many of these bakers didn't even have scales. For fear of accidentally coming up short, they would throw in a bit extra to ensure

• 30:47Speaker 04

that they wouldn't end up with a surprise flogging later.

• 30:52Speaker 03

  Seems bad.

• 30:53Speaker 04

So even in a baker's dozen, which I thought as the recipient is a good thing. It's the baker's trying to avoid a bad thing.

• 30:59Speaker 03

Well, they shouldn't try and screw us out of that extra money, should they? I told you bakers are evil.

• 31:05Speaker 04

I've always thought this. What are they up to back there?

• 31:08Speaker 03

Also, don't, well, some donuts are baked, but like, a lot of donuts are fried, right? Is that still a baker? It's not a baker's dozen. It's a frier's dozen, which is just 12.

• 31:19Speaker 02

I don't know. I just think back to Beauty and the Beast.

• 31:21Speaker 06

There goes the baker with her tray like always.

• 31:25Speaker 02

The fear and trepidation in the voice that she had the song is saying.

• 31:28Speaker 04

I don't remember that line at all. Where was that in the movie? Give me a timestamp.

• 31:31Speaker 02

Oh, very early. It's whenever Belle's walking around like the town and everyone loves her and stuff. I actually don't know any other lyrics to that song other than that.

• 31:38Speaker 03

I don't know many of the lyrics, but that, uh, that movie is forever tainted by redacted for me. Because there was an episode of Unisonus where for some reason you and Ethan were, I think you were making a whole shitload of eggs or something. You were doing so, and in the middle of the episode, out of nowhere, you were just like, no one fucks like Gaston, no one cocks like Gaston.

• 32:03Speaker 02

  I'm especially good at ejaculating.

• 32:08Speaker 03

  Ruined forever.

• 32:12Speaker 04

  Ah, good times, good times.

• 32:14Speaker 03

Have we answered your question, Wade?

• 32:15Speaker 02

You have not, because there's still like 15 minutes left.

• 32:18Speaker 04

What was the question? Now bring us back.

• 32:20Speaker 02

Okay, we've covered some of the 13s. Have we covered why Friday? Other than Bob did say Friday bad because bad scary movies come out.

• 32:27Speaker 03

Movies come out on Friday. Bad movies. Everyone hates movies.

• 32:30Speaker 02

I think Fridays were seen as like bad, even before they were movies, like that dates back.

• 32:36Speaker 03

I have no idea if this holds up, but I've heard this as a, I don't know how it was story superstition. Isn't it the story that, uh, Jesus was crucified on Friday? Isn't that what Good Friday is? And then.

• 32:48Speaker 02

Doesn't sound very good for him.

• 32:50Speaker 03

I, I can imagine, but I feel like that makes Fridays bad, which is funny because it's called Good Friday, but whatever.

• 32:56Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:56Speaker 03

Call it, call it whatever you want, I guess, but, uh, I don't, I don't actually know if that's true or how that lines up with the calendar year. Cause.

• 33:04Speaker 02

Do you think you could condemn yourself to hell by just writing a description for a single point in a game like this?

• 33:09Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 33:09Speaker 02

All I wrote was one point for Bob, Friday, Jesus, bye bye.

• 33:14Speaker 03

  Accurate.

• 33:15Speaker 04

Like if you were telling a child that, I think that that might make sense. You know, it's not really offensive. Anyway, Good Friday has been on Friday, the 13th, only if Easter is on April 15th, and it has occurred in 1906, 1979, 1990, 2001, and will occur again in 2063.

• 33:34Speaker 02

I mean, we left the eighties in 1990. I loved the eighties.

• 33:36Speaker 03

You beg, you don't even, you lived in the eighties for like the nine months.

• 33:41Speaker 02

Oh, and it was so much better.

• 33:42Speaker 03

I think people dread Fridays because for parents, it means that it's the weekend, which means that you got all day, both days. And if it's a long weekend, all day, all three days, you gotta entertain those little ankle biters that you done made. And kids just go crazy on the weekends. It's just full on psychopaths. But during the rest of the normal week, they're totally chill. It's great. So then it gets to be Friday and then parents are like, oh, God. Oh, fuck. It's like, it's like nighttime in I Am Legend. They like lock the house down and then they get the dog and they sit in the bathtub with a gun and rock back and forth until they survive the night.

• 34:24Speaker 02

Is that every night in that movie?

• 34:25Speaker 03

No, I guess that was only the bad one when he was hurt or what, I don't know. I don't know if we got to see like a normal night because the first night he wakes up and then the first night you actually see in the movie is everything's already fucked, right? Isn't that already crazy?

• 34:38Speaker 02

What movie were you talking about?

• 34:39Speaker 04

  I am 13.

• 34:40Speaker 02

For some weird reason in my brain, I conflate scenes from I Am Legend with the one with the robots that Will Smith was also in.

• 34:48Speaker 03

  I am robot?

• 34:50Speaker 02

I don't think that was Will Smith, was it?

• 34:51Speaker 03

I am legend and I am robot. Those two Will Smith movies. It's called, it's called I robot.

• 34:57Speaker 02

Oh, okay. It's like, wait, that sounds right, but it doesn't sound right.

• 35:00Speaker 03

Which is 100% what Apple's home robot assistant is going to be called in 50 years when it releases. And they'll totally miss that that's hilarious, but also terrifying. But no, I get those movies, aside from aesthetically and thematically being pretty far apart and almost as unrelated as you could imagine. I could see why you mix them together because Will Smith's in there. Will Smith in it up.

• 35:23Speaker 04

All right. I'm getting to the point where I'm Googling 13.

• 35:26Speaker 02

Oh, you knew all the rest of this off top of your head? That's crazy.

• 35:30Speaker 04

  Well, I didn't Google 13.

• 35:33Speaker 02

Okay, but you pulled up like trip a track of phobia out of like nowhere.

• 35:37Speaker 04

Okay, 13 is a natural number following 12 preceding 14.

• 35:41Speaker 03

  Yeah. That tracks.

• 35:43Speaker 04

It's a prime number, a happy number. Wait, what the fuck is a happy number? Wait.

• 35:48Speaker 03

Oh, it's the opposite of what you'd think.

• 35:50Speaker 04

And a lucky number? Okay, I don't know. Okay, happy number. In number theory, a happy number is a number which eventually reaches one when the number is replaced by the sum of the square of each digit.

• 36:03Speaker 04

Okay, for instance, thirteen is a happy number because one squared plus three squared equals ten and one squared plus zero squared equals one. So if you eventually reduce it down through the sum of the squares.

• 36:15Speaker 03

This really is the Jim Carrey movie. It's twenty fucking three.

• 36:19Speaker 04

What the fuck is a happy number? Why is that?

• 36:22Speaker 03

You know, I really prefer melancholy numbers. That's where when you replace them with the square root of each digit separately, but added together, it stays the same number forever.

• 36:31Speaker 04

I think that mathematicians sometimes get this weird hard on to, to wow, our number system that we made is really so perfect and it's so circular and everything. Oh, it lines up so beautifully, except for the things that don't. Oh, look at the happy number. Look at the happy little number. Perfect digital invariant. What the fuck is perfect digital invariant?

• 36:52Speaker 03

  How us?

• 36:55Speaker 04

For base B greater than one and power P greater than zero, F parameters P B colon N to N is, but fancy N's, is defined as F P B parentheses N equals the sum of K minus one on top.

• 37:12Speaker 03

  These functions, function of N?

• 37:16Speaker 04

D to the P under the, to the lower I, period. D to the P to the lower I, baby, I'm Fergie. And where K equals, what is that symbol? It's not a bracket. It's a, it's an L, but in the shape of a bracket, but it doesn't have a top.

• 37:33Speaker 03

  Topless bracket.

• 37:36Speaker 04

Low B log, log B low to the N, other bracket, a hockey stick the other way. Plus one is the number of digits in the number in base B and D lower I equals N mod B to the I plus one minus N mod B to the I divided by B to the I. And that is literally the first four lines in this definition. There are about 12 more. Do you want me to read them?

• 38:02Speaker 03

  Don't stop. I love this.

• 38:04Speaker 02

Dude, I need to get something to sleep to tonight. Yeah, please.

• 38:07Speaker 04

A natural number N is a perfect, perfect digital invariant of it is a fixed point for FPB, which occurs in FPB N equals N, oh, and one, zero and one are obviously trivial perfect digital invariants for all BNP.

• 38:19Speaker 03

  Obviously.

• 38:20Speaker 04

Perfect digital invariants are non trivial perfect digital invariants. For example, the number four, one, five, zero in base B equals 10 is a perfect digital invariant of P equals five because four, one, five, oh, equals four to the fifth, four to the power of five plus one to the five, five to the five plus zero to the five. A sociable digital invariant? Bring all your digital invariants to the party so you can socialize them? Oh, my God, I hate mathematicians.

• 38:46Speaker 02

  Where's the introverted digital invariant?

• 38:48Speaker 03

Your mom's a non trivial perfect digital invariant.

• 38:52Speaker 04

Dude, just wait till you get to the pre periodic points for FPB regardless of the base.

• 38:59Speaker 03

You have to tell me about PPP FPBs.

• 39:02Speaker 04

I just don't know what this is trying to prove. I'm sure it's useful in some way.

• 39:05Speaker 03

No, that's the thing. You spelled the wrong word. Like, I don't, I don't know. I'm not going to pretend like I know anything about what you just said or about math, but I can tell you from being around a lot of scientists and Manny, Manny does is statistician and does math and data science stuff. There's a lot of shit that exists where you're like, oh, man, that sounds complicated, but actually it's fucking useless. Like, it's true and somebody proved that it's true and it's a thing and it isn't good for anything. Somebody was just like, this is true. Look. And that's, and that's it. And this sounds like one of those things where it's like, yep, that all that stuff you said is mathematically provable.

• 39:45Speaker 02

I don't even remember what led us to reading all of that, to even knowing why we cared.

• 39:49Speaker 03

Mark was teaching us about numbers.

• 39:52Speaker 02

Oh, the happy numbers. That's right.

• 39:53Speaker 04

  There's also narcissistic number.

• 39:56Speaker 02

  What's your height?

• 39:57Speaker 03

  Whoa.

• 39:59Speaker 02

Sorry, sorry, man. I came out swinging.

• 40:01Speaker 04

I don't even know how that was an insult. Oh, my God. They've got sociable narcissistic numbers.

• 40:08Speaker 04

  They've got amicable narcissistic numbers.

• 40:11Speaker 03

Wait, but do they have non-trivial, amicable narcissistic numbers?

They do. They do. They have trivial narcissistic numbers and non-trivial narcissistic numbers.

• 40:19Speaker 03

All right, well, then then I'll allow it.

• 40:25Speaker 02

Hi, man. I'm really glad we got down to the roots of why it's unlucky and lucky and Friday and thirteen. I hope you all out there watching and listening learn something today. There will be a quiz, and if you can't do the function of N to the D to the I P L O M N G where tasty, then you're gonna fail.

• 40:43Speaker 03

  That's funny.

• 40:45Speaker 02

We go through the points for no, no particular order. Bob, you're first. You got points. I wrote down he's a walk-in for, but just because you're walking. That's good.

• 40:53Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 40:54Speaker 02

Uh, self-care, good. Wade, identity theft, because you were telling me about the checks. Uh, you were mean to the host, but funny. So I'll give you a point instead of taking one for once. Friday, bad because scary movies. Uh, I gave you both points for movie thirteen movie puns that we just kept going down the rabbit hole of because I was so busy contributing. I didn't really keep track of the different ones we made.

• 41:14Speaker 03

  Oh, thirteen days later.

• 41:16Speaker 02

Oh, yeah. Thirteen weeks later, thirteen months later.

• 41:19Speaker 03

Yeah, sorry, sorry. It's too late.

• 41:21Speaker 02

Unis Gaston reference. Friday, Jesus, bye-bye. Friday, bad because kids. Nope, not useful to Mark's ten minutes of numbers and that gives you a total of one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven points.

• 41:37Speaker 03

If there's anything I know about science is that it likes to be useless but funny. That's why science exists.

• 41:43Speaker 02

Oh, Mark, you got points. I'm gonna offer a bonus point if you can remember what A D R stands for.

• 41:48Speaker 04

But if I didn't know it before.

• 41:50Speaker 02

  You still get one point.

• 41:52Speaker 04

Uh, I, uh, I don't know. Automatic, automatic dubbing recording or something like that. I don't remember.

• 41:58Speaker 03

Isn't it alternate dubbed recording or something like that?

• 42:01Speaker 04

No, it's, it's not alternate, but it's, it's automatic and I don't know why. I know the first one's automatic, but or automated or something like that.

• 42:10Speaker 02

  Alternative dispute resolution.

• 42:14Speaker 02

  I don't think that's what I'm looking for.

• 42:17Speaker 07

Negotiator. It's me, the. Priceline Negotiator. We don't need the jingle twice. What about a third time? Stop it. This is about vacation inflation and how Priceline negotiates amazing deals on hotels, flights and rental cars. Seems like they just started. Yeah, but I didn't mention that you can save up to 60% off hotels in the Priceline app. Time to read the tagline. Fine. No one deals more deals than. Priceline. Please stop. Priceline. Touche. Priceline. Priceline.

• 42:46Speaker 03

  Oh, it's.

• 42:48Speaker 02

American Depository? Sorry, that's not it.

• 42:51Speaker 03

  It's for automated dialogue replacement.

• 42:55Speaker 02

Hmm, that makes more sense than what I got. All right, Mark. Well, you know mediation, arbitration, math, numbers, you're a pro.

• 43:01Speaker 07

  Thanks.

• 43:02Speaker 02

Uh, you also got points for your piles of checks, which is very relatable. All of us out here can relate to carry around piles of checks. Having people that carry our piles of checks to the bank for us, uh, very relatable stuff. Uh, you told us that Scream 7 exists.

• 43:16Speaker 07

  Uh huh.

• 43:17Speaker 02

You say different phobia words funny. You told us about Norse history, more of the 13 movie puns, the Friday the 13th Easter conspiracy with Jesus and the different years of which those things align, happy numbers, and I gave you a point for the last 10 minutes of Mark math that we listened to.

• 43:35Speaker 07

  Oh, cool. Thanks.

• 43:36Speaker 02

Five, six, seven, eight, a total of nine.

• 43:39Speaker 03

  Fuck.

• 43:40Speaker 02

But I had your name written first and the point total is nine to 11. Is that also a coincidence because of Friday the 13th?

• 43:47Speaker 03

  Probably no.

• 43:49Speaker 02

Did 9/11 happen on Friday the 13th? I think not.

• 43:52Speaker 03

No, I don't think it did. I think we could safely say that one.

• 43:56Speaker 02

All right, fair enough. Right now, Bob, you're up and it's time for the wheels.

• 44:00Speaker 03

Yeah, wait, I'm up by three points? Two points.

• 44:03Speaker 02

Uh, 11 to 9, you're up by two.

• 44:04Speaker 03

Uh, how many spins will there be?

• 44:07Speaker 02

Ah, diddly dee, can there be two spit? Oh, there shall be three.

• 44:11Speaker 04

Oh, yeah, I got a chance. Oh, I got a chance.

• 44:14Speaker 03

You always got a chance, babe. Uh, Wade, what are you adding to the wheel of fun, happy times?

• 44:20Speaker 02

Do we already have something for like tinfoil hat or person that's like the most conspiratorial?

• 44:25Speaker 03

I think maybe scariest contribution, he who is immortal wins a point. I forgot I had one of those lurking in there. That's fun.

• 44:34Speaker 04

Oh, right. Yeah, you're still immortal. Hmm.

• 44:36Speaker 02

If you don't see it, what was called the tinfoil hat point, it'll make no sense in about two months, but for right now, man.

• 44:44Speaker 03

  Three spins. Let's do this.

• 44:51Speaker 04

Oh, I got so many tabs. I got so many tabs. I'm so distracted.

• 44:55Speaker 02

  Were they related?

• 44:56Speaker 04

Uh, I have cheaper by the dozen. For sale, main. I got 13. There's 13 in there. That's 13.

• 45:06Speaker 03

I have two tabs open and they're both directly related to what we're talking about, so.

• 45:11Speaker 02

I guess by default, Mark gets the point.

• 45:13Speaker 04

GM FST, black magic design, uh, cinema site is open, uh, ADR, I guess that is related, baker's dozen is related, 23 the movie. Yeah, that's related. Two ubiquity, uh, websites open and my YouTube channel.

• 45:28Speaker 02

Your YouTube channel not related officially. That's one thing at least that makes you more distracted.

• 45:33Speaker 03

  Yeah, spin number two.

• 45:39Speaker 03

  Point for viewers.

• 45:42Speaker 04

  Uh, okay. All right.

• 45:44Speaker 03

That limits your chances, but that does not preclude you from sweeping this away from me still.

• 45:49Speaker 02

No, this is, that's actually a terrible spin for me. All right. No matter where this ends, it's Bob's point.

• 45:55Speaker 03

  Come on, shortest.

• 45:58Speaker 03

  That's inarguable.

• 46:03Speaker 02

  Oh, Mark slept in today.

• 46:04Speaker 04

I just said I slept in.

• 46:06Speaker 02

Started this by saying he slept late. Ooh, dodged that one.

• 46:11Speaker 04

Oh, well, you win some, you lose some.

• 46:14Speaker 03

I mean, I could also say I slept in, but I also didn't go to bed until late. I, I know exactly how much sleep I got if you really want to compare, but.

• 46:23Speaker 02

  No, no, no need.

• 46:24Speaker 04

I got nine hours. Oh, since last episode, though. Wait, no, we, all right, we need, okay. Yeah, yeah, hold on.

• 46:31Speaker 03

So wait, since, since yesterday was since the last release or since the last recording?

• 46:37Speaker 04

Recording, I think, is what that would imply.

• 46:39Speaker 03

I don't think either of us slept in the break between this episode and the immediate previous episode.

• 46:46Speaker 04

So it must, it must be the, the previous one. Oh, no, my sleep's fitness score is so big.

• 46:51Speaker 03

Oh, I did not get a lot of sleep this week. You're in trouble, Mark.

• 46:54Speaker 04

Oh, shit, I'm, I'm sleeping so good.

• 46:58Speaker 04

My seven day average, it says, is about six and a half hours, but, uh, last night I got eight hours and forty seven, it says.

• 47:05Speaker 03

My seven day average since last Tuesday is six hours and twenty minutes.

• 47:11Speaker 04

Mine's six hours and thirty five minutes average.

• 47:14Speaker 02

  All right, point for Bob.

• 47:17Speaker 04

Damn it, damn it. Why do I have to not be working on a movie and sleeping so good?

• 47:21Speaker 02

I dodged the one man show wheel. Congratulations.

• 47:25Speaker 03

Wait, what else can we compare? What about your heart rate? I bet your heart rate's way better than mine.

• 47:29Speaker 02

Yeah, go ahead. I don't care about that. Go take, take more time. Whatever.

• 47:32Speaker 04

So the resting heart rate is sixty seven. Been going down all night. That's good. Oh, wow, man, my metrics are looking great.

• 47:39Speaker 03

Yeah, my resting heart rate's only seventy two. Kick my ass.

• 47:42Speaker 02

I don't monitor any of this stuff, so, uh, whatever God wants me to have.

• 47:46Speaker 03

You mean for your heart rate or?

• 47:48Speaker 02

  Sleep, heart rate.

• 47:48Speaker 03

  Yeah. Okay, good, okay.

• 47:50Speaker 02

The man upstairs real involved in my sleep schedule. He tells me when to snore.

• 47:53Speaker 03

He, he doesn't say shit to me.

• 47:55Speaker 02

All right, so, uh, Mark, loser's speech.

• 47:57Speaker 04

Well, let's just say that, uh, if the trade off we're losing is, uh, having higher quality of life and, um, uh, the other things, and if that means that I can get a village, uh, in Maine, uh, I'd say losing is pretty good. I say losing is okay.

• 48:13Speaker 02

Unfortunately, the village takes checks only.

• 48:17Speaker 03

We need to send them one paper check for five and a half million dollars. Damn.

• 48:22Speaker 02

  Bob, winner's speech.

• 48:23Speaker 03

My life is terrible and that's how I keep winning. The worse it gets, the more I win. This is all I have. I have no joy. I have no other sources of anything other than sadness and pain. So I put it all here. I leave it all on the table. And if I ever don't win, if you ever steal this one brief moment of joy I get once a week, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I'll probably have to take it out on whoever steals it from me, I guess. I guess this is kind of a warning, huh? Anyway, this was a fun time, guys. Good episode.

• 48:59Speaker 02

Uh huh. Follow these guys, especially Bob, just in case. My Skirm, Market Mark, 80077, LordMinion777. Merch, keep an eye on distractible.shop because it's coming, or it's there, or you missed it. Until the next one where Bob will host another banger. I'll catch that.
