• 2:18H. Foley?

An absolute monster. We're excited to have you. Give us the origin story. We know you're Irish.

• 2:23Speaker 01

We were getting into it a little bit before, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 2:25Speaker 03

  Yeah, I am Irish.

• 2:27H. Foley?

  Name it on us.

• 2:27Speaker 03

  Spoiler.

• 2:29H. Foley?

  Well, thanks, everybody.

• 2:31Speaker 03

Irish, yeah. Um, I was, uh, I was born in a little place called Limerick in Ireland, also known as Stab City.

• 2:41Speaker 01

Really? Is that the name of it?

• 2:42Speaker 03

  That's actually the nickname.

• 2:43H. Foley?

  No way.

• 2:44Speaker 03

Yeah, for reasons you can imagine. Um, and, uh, and moved up to Dublin, um...

• 2:50Speaker 01

Was that like an upgrade from, you're like, you're going from Stab City to Dublin?

• 2:53Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 2:54Speaker 01

That's like, you're getting out of, okay, alright.

• 2:56Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Got out of Stab City.

• 2:57Speaker 01

  Sure, okay.

• 2:58Speaker 03

Went to the big schmuck. And, uh, yeah, yeah, grew up in Dublin in a little like, uh, little like, uh, townhouse, you know, like a little semi-D, you know, actually, yeah, semi-D.

• 3:09H. Foley?

What did mom and dad do?

• 3:10Speaker 03

My, my ma was a flight attendant, air hostess, yeah, very glamorous.

• 3:15H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 3:16Speaker 03

  Very glamorous.

• 3:16Speaker 01

  For what airline?

• 3:17Speaker 03

  For Aer Lingus.

• 3:18Speaker 01

  Yeah, I've flown it, yes.

• 3:19Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, at one point, followed in her footsteps for a couple of years.

• 3:23H. Foley?

  Really?

• 3:24Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 3:25H. Foley?

Whoa, you were a flight attendant?

• 3:26Speaker 03

I was a flight attendant, yeah, yeah. A bit more exciting than being a professional wrestler. Yeah, uh, then I just, you know, wanted a normal life, so I decided to join the movie.

• 3:38H. Foley?

  World famous wrestler?

• 3:41Speaker 03

So she was, she was a flight attendant and, uh, she was a model before that and then, yeah, she wanted, yeah.

• 3:47H. Foley?

  No kidding.

• 3:48Speaker 01

That's back when, yeah, I mean, a model and flight attendant back in the day, that was a very, it was a very, you know, debonair type profession, you know?

• 3:55Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 3:55H. Foley?

What about your pops? What'd your dad do?

• 3:57Speaker 03

My dad was a wild man, man. He was, he was like...

• 4:01Speaker 01

It's the first time we've ever heard that.

• 4:02H. Foley?

  This is whole, add up.

• 4:03Speaker 03

He was, uh, he was all mine, he was... He was like, he was a gas salesman, right? Like, that was like his, his day job. But he was also an inventor.

• 4:12Speaker 01

  What?

• 4:13Speaker 03

He was always just inventing stuff.

• 4:15Speaker 01

  Like, actually inventing stuff?

• 4:16Speaker 03

Actually, actually inventing stuff. So like, like, he had all these, he had these dreams of being like a super millionaire, right? So he would invent all these things. So at one point...

• 4:27Speaker 01

Like, what? This guy's awesome, though.

• 4:29Speaker 03

So, he invented this thing called the auto scan, right? Like, and so it was this machine. And this was like back in the 90s. Like, I remember seeing this machine and it was like a metal detector. And it would detect if a used car had been in a crash.

• 4:47Speaker 01

  What?

• 4:48Speaker 03

Right? So like, if you were going to buy a used car, you would get the auto scan and you would use it all over...

• 4:56Speaker 01

To find out if there was like non-metal in there, or like the Bondo or whatever they put in.

• 4:59Speaker 03

  Exactly.

• 5:00H. Foley?

  That's actually pretty good.

• 5:01Speaker 01

  That's actually...

• 5:01H. Foley?

I thought you were gonna say like a can opener, razor, or something like that.

• 5:04Speaker 03

No, but like, it was, it was actually really cool. But then, of course, the thing was, was that this auto scan would cost like 400 pounds.

• 5:13H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 5:14Speaker 03

And if you're buying a used car, and this is in the 90s, it costs like 400 pounds. And then you're trying to buy a used car for like 200 pounds. You know what I mean?

• 5:22H. Foley?

You don't care what's in there, you gotta get to work. That's awesome.

• 5:26Speaker 01

I gotta get out of Stab City.

• 5:27Speaker 03

The math didn't, uh, didn't line up. And then he had this...

• 5:30Speaker 01

Did he make it himself, though? Like, or did he have some, do you remember? Was he good with...

• 5:33H. Foley?

Is he making this in the townhouse?

• 5:34Speaker 03

  Like, nah, he like, he...

• 5:35Speaker 01

  Contracted it out, there's some...

• 5:36Speaker 03

  I don't know, I don't know.

• 5:37H. Foley?

So somewhat on a legitimate side?

• 5:39Speaker 03

Some, some, never made anything, though.

• 5:41H. Foley?

Gotcha. He wasn't making gremlins in the basement or anything like that?

• 5:44Speaker 03

No, we didn't have basements. That's an American thing.

• 5:46Speaker 01

  That's an American, that's a very American.

• 5:48Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 5:48H. Foley?

That's the point that you make. We didn't have a basement.

• 5:51Speaker 03

We don't have basements, yeah, yeah. Oh, you're very fancy with your basements. But, um, uh, no, and then he invented this, this like bird feeder thing where you stick it on the window and the birds can't see you, they just look at their reflection.

• 6:07H. Foley?

They have that now, this guy's sharp. What are we talking about?

• 6:09Speaker 03

It was, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was before, it was before.

• 6:12Speaker 01

This guy's ahead of his time.

• 6:13Speaker 03

  Yes!

• 6:14H. Foley?

Cause what, not, not the metal detecting thing, but... They have car facts now, where you can determine whether the car was in an accident.

• 6:20Speaker 03

He was right there, man. He was right there. Holy cow. He was right there. None of it took off. God bless him. None of it took off. God bless. And then, and then he was like, then he was gonna write a book on Captain Boycott. He was, you know. What's Captain Boycott? So, yeah, right. Yeah.

• 6:37H. Foley?

  Irish superhero?

• 6:39Speaker 03

No, no. He, an imperialist, right? So he was, he was a British lad.

• 6:44H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 6:45Speaker 03

I believe. Like, let me get this story straight, so that I don't ruin the legacy of my dad. I can pull up some, uh... So, anyway, so Captain Boycott, right? There's a big landlord around the time of the famine, I believe. Right? So like 1840 something.

• 6:59H. Foley?

  I'm with you.

• 6:59Speaker 03

1880. 18, 1880. Oh, right. So after the famine. But this lad was like doing the British people's, you know. Bidding. Bidding, you know, taking the food, kicking the Irish off the land, all that's, all that horrible stuff. And, uh, and then the Irish banded together and were like, we're gonna stop buying from him.

• 7:19H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 7:20Speaker 03

Okay. And so, hence the term boycott. Gotcha. And so my dad was gonna write a book on boycott, and he was like, every government in the world is going to buy this, and everybody's going to... He had big dreams. He had big dreams because...

• 7:37H. Foley?

  He's right there, too.

• 7:37Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because he's like, he wanted to get what, how good boycotting was, you know? If somebody is acting the fool, then you just boycott them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hope I got that all right. No, yeah, that's great. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. I think I got it right. I think I got it right. Your dad would be proud. That was, that was a, that was a good, uh...

• 7:56H. Foley?

I can see the movie right as you were saying it. That's great.

• 7:58Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that was the origin story of, of boycotting. And like, I think people know how to boycott. But anyway, he thought it was, he thought everyone should know about it.

• 8:07H. Foley?

  Man, that's pretty wild.

• 8:08Speaker 03

  The origin story of boycott.

• 8:10H. Foley?

  How about brothers and sisters?

• 8:11Speaker 03

  Got one brother. Yeah, yeah.

• 8:12H. Foley?

  Older, younger?

• 8:12Speaker 03

  Older, older.

• 8:13H. Foley?

  Far apart? How far?

• 8:14Speaker 03

Four, four years. Yeah, yeah. Legend. He's who introduced me to wrestling. Right.

• 8:18H. Foley?

  That's right.

• 8:19Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 8:19H. Foley?

  That's right.

• 8:20Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 8:20H. Foley?

How big is it over there?

• 8:21Speaker 03

  And...

• 8:22H. Foley?

Let me ask you this. For you to get where you are coming from Ireland, that's... A pretty monster accomplishment, I would assume, right? The theater program over there is not the same as it is here? Would that be safe to say?

• 8:33Speaker 03

Yeah, I would say so. Like, when I started wrestling, I didn't start wrestling being like, "Oh, I'm gonna be in the WWE." I was like, "Ah, stupid."

• 8:40Speaker 01

  It's W W W E, by the way.

• 8:42Speaker 03

  W W W E.

• 8:43H. Foley?

  Get it right, Becky.

• 8:44Speaker 03

  Women's world wrestling entertainment.

• 8:46H. Foley?

  I got this.

• 8:47Speaker 03

But, yeah, I didn't, I, you know, was gonna, I don't know what I was gonna do with my life.

• 8:54Speaker 01

Sure. Did it start in like, because here, you know, it's like the, one of the things that we've talked about on the show and people have written in and then we have fans that are fans of like, is it like backyard wrestling? Did you have that aspect, like, super, super amateur?

• 9:06Speaker 03

They did have that. Like, some people did it, but like, there was all, do you remember the Warrenens on WWE at the time?

• 9:13Speaker 01

  Of course, yeah, of course.

• 9:14Speaker 03

And I was like, "Don't try this at home." And then you would see documentaries about people, like, frowning upon backyard wrestling. So I was like, "I'm never gonna do that."

• 9:20Speaker 01

  Never do that, yeah.

• 9:21Speaker 03

Never do that. "No, I'm gonna join a reputable school." And so, there was not.

• 9:24Speaker 01

  Well, good for you.

• 9:25Speaker 03

And then I found out they were opening one by one Finn Balor, Virgil David is his real name. Finn Balor is his wrestling name in WWE.

• 9:35H. Foley?

  That all sounds made up.

• 9:36Speaker 01

  Let's talk about boycott again.

• 9:39Speaker 03

And so, yeah, when I was 15, I found out they were opening a wrestling school and I went along and I was like, "Oh, this is, this is helpful."

• 9:46Speaker 01

  At 15?

• 9:47Speaker 03

At 15. But like, I didn't go because I was gonna be a wrestler. No, I went because I was failing PE, I was drinking, I was up to no good.

• 9:54Speaker 01

  Classic 15-year-old Irish bro.

• 9:56Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Pure, pure delinquent behavior.

• 10:00H. Foley?

  I was fighting anyway.

• 10:01Speaker 01

Might as well get paid for it, you know? Learn how to take a bump.

• 10:04Speaker 03

But like, I looked at like WWE and I was like, "Well, everybody's in shape there, so if they're in shape, they probably got in shape from wrestling." And so, I'm gonna be in shape and then I won't fail PE.

• 10:15Speaker 01

What logic to end up a superstar.

• 10:16H. Foley?

And now you're sitting here with the belt. That's nuts.

• 10:18Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 10:19H. Foley?

  My god.

• 10:20Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 10:21H. Foley?

Parents were supportive about all that?

• 10:22Speaker 03

No, god, no. No, me dad was, me dad, of course, my dad was. My dad was a dreamer, right? Like, my dad was like, the, the, the, he, he was like, you know, be yourself, Bex, like, dream big, whatever you want. And my ma was like, no, you be realistic, you, you get a real job.

• 10:43Speaker 01

  Of course, of course.

• 10:44Speaker 03

  Of course.

• 10:45H. Foley?

  Something to fall back on.

• 10:47Speaker 03

Exactly. Like, what are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? What's your plan? What's your plan? What's your plan? What's your plan? And obviously, like, wrestling wasn't gonna mean my plan. And so I didn't tell her that I was doing professional wrestling. I told her I was doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

• 11:01Speaker 01

  Really?

• 11:02Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, it sounds way more.

• 11:05H. Foley?

Mom, an assassin. Don't worry, I got you.

• 11:09Speaker 03

So I told her I was doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. But then, uh, one day, I was wearing like a spaghetti strap, you know, uh, you know, just a...

• 11:17H. Foley?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure, I got you.

• 11:18Speaker 03

  You know, yeah.

• 11:19H. Foley?

I wear them all the time.

• 11:21Speaker 03

Yeah, and, uh, but when you run the ropes in wrestling, you get all these bruises on your back. And so I come downstairs and my spaghetti strap completely forgot about all the bruises on my back. And my mom's like, what's that? And I was like, oh, uh, uh, and then I had to tell her that...

• 11:36Speaker 01

I got a fight at the brazen head.

• 11:38Speaker 03

Uh, I had to tell her that I was professional wrestling. She lost it. Oh, she was very, very upset with me. Very upset with me. Now she's super supportive.

• 11:44H. Foley?

  Yeah, loves it, yeah.

• 11:45Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 11:46Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 11:46Speaker 03

I've done all right for myself.

• 11:47Speaker 01

For sure. Back when, well, you know, before you, when you were the, your delinquent days, had any run-ins with the, with the cops?

• 11:54Speaker 03

  No.

• 11:54Speaker 01

  No? Just kinda?

• 11:55Speaker 03

  Actually, no. No, none.

• 11:57Speaker 01

  It's good to hear, though.

• 11:57Speaker 03

No, none, actually, not once in my life.

• 12:00Speaker 01

  Really?

• 12:00Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah. Very honorable citizen.

• 12:03H. Foley?

  She's sharp.

• 12:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 12:03Speaker 01

  Very good.

• 12:04H. Foley?

  Gets around a citizen.

• 12:05Speaker 01

  I know, yeah.

• 12:05Speaker 03

  I sure did.

• 12:06H. Foley?

How were you as a student, grades-wise?

• 12:09Speaker 03

  Uh, grades-wise, uh, I...

• 12:12Speaker 03

  Average, average of best.

• 12:13H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 12:14Speaker 03

It was really good history and English.

• 12:15H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 12:16Speaker 03

They, they were my two subjects. The rest, and geography, it was all right, geography too. Um, anything that had stories, right? Like anything that was story based.

• 12:24Speaker 01

That had a narrative to it.

• 12:26Speaker 03

That had a narrative to it, like I could tell stories, like I could read stories. I loved stories. But anything else was for the birds, like biology, math, languages, like awful. Art, music, pure crap.

• 12:40Speaker 01

  Gotcha.

• 12:41H. Foley?

I was, I was second to last in my high school, my graduating class. So you're in good company.

• 12:47Speaker 03

  Right.

• 12:48H. Foley?

  You're in good company.

• 12:49Speaker 01

What did, uh, what did the vacations look like growing up?

• 12:51Speaker 03

Uh, so because my mom was flight attendant.

• 12:54Speaker 01

  Right, free, free flights probably.

• 12:56Speaker 03

We, we, we didn't have like a surplus of cash at all, like at all. Um, but because my ma was working for a Lingus, you know, I came over to America for Christmas when I was like six. Came to New York.

• 13:10H. Foley?

  Really?

• 13:11Speaker 03

I was like, one day I'm gonna live here. Yeah, yeah. So like I, I got to come to America. Like, uh, where, where were the places we went to was, uh, New York and Boston. And then when I was like 12, LA, and then we would go to Spain and Portugal.

• 13:28H. Foley?

  Look at this.

• 13:29Speaker 03

So like I, I got, I got, I got a few, I got a few summers under my belt. And, uh, a few summer holidays under my belt, but for the most part, we would just go down to Kerry.

• 13:38H. Foley?

  Here we go.

• 13:39Speaker 03

And, and yeah, yeah. And so.

• 13:41H. Foley?

• 13:42Speaker 03

Kerry was a, but Kerry was like my favorite holiday, right? Like because we had a caravan. Um, uh, on, on, on the beach, on a beach called Ventry there.

• 13:53H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 13:53Speaker 03

A little caravan and a mobile home.

• 13:55H. Foley?

  It was your parents?

• 13:57Speaker 03

  It was my grandmother's.

• 13:59H. Foley?

Gotcha. So that would be like your beach house, quote unquote.

• 14:01Speaker 03

That was our beach house. Yeah, yeah, a little caravan.

• 14:03H. Foley?

  All right.

• 14:04Speaker 03

Yeah, but like because my ma had like. But you know, she was one of five siblings.

• 14:09H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 14:10Speaker 03

And then every sibling was married with kids, upwards of three kids, you know. So you'd be going down there and everybody be crying. I, I'm actually going, how the hell did we all fit? We all fit, but like, and then there'd be family friends and everything. And it was, oh, it was great.

• 14:26H. Foley?

  Like a clan.

• 14:27Speaker 03

  Yeah, a huge clan.

• 14:28H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 14:28Speaker 03

And, and like you'd go on the beach and, you know, we'd be off and like, I, I like, I've got a four year old now. And like when she's at, at the beach, you know, I'm like terrified if she, you know, gets up to the waves. But we were like in.

• 14:43H. Foley?

  Forget it.

• 14:44Speaker 03

We were just, there was waves.

• 14:45Speaker 01

Jumping off the cliffs and stuff, yeah.

• 14:46Speaker 03

Yes, jumping off cliffs. There was waves coming over ahead. We were two, you know, and I go, how did we survive?

• 14:52H. Foley?

So our version of that over here from being from Philadelphia would be going down the shore, the Jersey Shore. But you were, you were scraping by. So like.

• 15:01Speaker 01

Bunch of families living all together, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 15:03H. Foley?

You know what I mean? With like, you know, 20 family members, very similar vibe, running all over the place. Yeah. You never knew where anybody was. A riptide could have got any of us at any moment.

• 15:11Speaker 03

But we all, how did we all?

• 15:14Speaker 01

I think a lot of people didn't make it. If I'm being, if you look back, I think a handful of people, you know.

• 15:18H. Foley?

  For sure.

• 15:18Speaker 01

They just chalked that up to the eighties and nineties and keep it moving.

• 15:22H. Foley?

  Huh.

• 15:22Speaker 03

  The good old days.

• 15:24Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 15:24Speaker 03

The good old days. Oh, but man, there was like, there was a place called Kumino was, was the beach that we loved the most. And there was a teddy bear factory on the way there. No, teddy bear museum. And you go in, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you go into this teddy bear museum and you know, that was the best the carry out of.

• 15:44Speaker 01

  Scary old haunted museum.

• 15:46Speaker 03

Just a bunch of teddy bears, but they did have a great chocolate pie. It was called the Pooh Bear Pie. Oh, delicious. Stop the lights. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Stop the lights. I still think of that Pooh Bear Pie.

• 15:57H. Foley?

Speaking of which, we're both Irish descendants. We have a kinship to the Irish cuisine. What was, uh, who did the cooking in the house growing up?

• 16:06Speaker 03

Actually, do you know, both my folks, my dad was actually a really good cook. My ma, um, my mom is very good. Like, my whole family, big cooks.

• 16:15H. Foley?

What are we putting out? What are we talking about?

• 16:16Speaker 03

Uh, you know, like, you do the, you do the old, uh, stew and lots of roast dinners. Lots of roast dinners, that's a big, like, thing. Um, my dad would make a, a great chip, french fry.

• 16:31H. Foley?

  Sure. I speak the language.

• 16:33Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, oh, he'd make a hell of a chip, the, the old deep fat fryer.

• 16:37H. Foley?

  Mm-hmm.

• 16:38Speaker 03

Oh, god, do you remember they were in every house? Were they in every house over here?

• 16:40H. Foley?

  We had one, yeah.

• 16:41Speaker 03

Oh, deep fat fryer, stop the lights.

• 16:43H. Foley?

That would have been like something that somebody would have kind of invented and been on like an infomercial that got into houses over here.

• 16:48Speaker 03

  Ah, yeah.

• 16:49H. Foley?

If your dad was over here.

• 16:50Speaker 03

  He would, oh, my god.

• 16:52H. Foley?

He'd have like the rotisserie machine and everything.

• 16:54Speaker 03

He would, oh, he really would, like, he missed his time, you, yeah, yeah. But, uh, yeah, and then like a, a, a, a bangers and mash.

• 17:03H. Foley?

  I love, that's my, that's my go-to.

• 17:05Speaker 03

Spaghetti bolognese, you know, when we were feeling fancy, you know?

• 17:11H. Foley?

That's the curveball for Irish spaghetti bowling. It's big over in Europe, the bolognese is big over in Europe.

• 17:16Speaker 03

Actually, chicken curry is huge, huge over there.

• 17:19H. Foley?

  Yeah, it's wild.

• 17:20Speaker 03

Huge over there, you know, it's actually somehow become an Irish food.

• 17:23H. Foley?

  I know.

• 17:24Speaker 03

You know what I mean? I don't know how it is, but like, I mean, and that's our, like, our, our spice hall or something.

• 17:31H. Foley?

  Yeah, exactly, yeah.

• 17:32Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, mild chicken curry, yeah.

Do it. That's good. So big extended family over there. Any family over here when you would come over here on vacation to like New York or Boston or anything?

• 20:34Speaker 03

Well, like I was only coming with my man overnight, so we'd only be here for like a day.

• 20:38H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 20:38Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah. I have a cousin in Boston.

• 20:40H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 20:41Speaker 03

Well, my ma has a cousin in Boston. I don't have a cousin in Boston.

• 20:43H. Foley?

  Sure. Any pets growing up?

• 20:45Speaker 03

Uh, oh, I had a fish.

• 20:48Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 20:48Speaker 03

I had a couple of fish.

• 20:52Speaker 01

The way she said that. I thought she was gonna say I had a peacock or something. Oh, wait till you hear about the fish.

• 20:58H. Foley?

It made it sound like you guys eventually ate them or something like that.

• 20:59Speaker 01

  That's what the stew was.

• 21:00H. Foley?

Hey, it was delicious. What'd you have?

• 21:04Speaker 03

So, uh, I had, um, I had a cold water mountain minnow.

• 21:10Speaker 01

  A minnow? That's not a, wait, hold on. I've never, that's, that's.

• 21:13H. Foley?

That's bait. What are you talking about?

• 21:14Speaker 01

A cold? I've never heard someone name the breed of minnow. Cold minnow?

• 21:18H. Foley?

It sounds like you're selling it as a special. Tonight we have a cold water mountain minnow.

• 21:22Speaker 01

  Cold mountain minnow?

• 21:24H. Foley?

  Sauteed.

• 21:25Speaker 01

That's a small fish. The term cold mountain minnow likely refers to the white cloud mountain minnow. A small, hardy freshwater fish, popular in aquariums. Okay. He only had one of them?

• 21:35Speaker 03

  His name was Zeus.

• 21:36Speaker 01

Zeus. That's a pretty good name for a fish, though. I'll give you that.

• 21:39Speaker 03

And then, when Zeus died, then I got a goldfish. And his name was Zach, named after Zach Morris.

• 21:46Speaker 01

  Really?

• 21:47Speaker 03

  From Saved by the Bell.

• 21:48Speaker 01

  Was that?

• 21:49H. Foley?

  All checks out.

• 21:50Speaker 01

What was, was, because American TV is...

• 21:53Speaker 03

  Big over there.

• 21:54Speaker 01

Big over there. Was that what, what were the shows you were watching growing up?

• 21:56Speaker 03

Saved by the Bell. Hang Time.

• 21:58Speaker 01

Hang Time's the one that goes under the, you probably missed it.

• 22:01Speaker 03

  Under the radar, man.

• 22:02Speaker 01

  Yeah, Hang Time was great.

• 22:03Speaker 03

  California Dreams.

• 22:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 22:05Speaker 03

Yeah, and, uh, do you remember California Dreams?

• 22:07H. Foley?

I'm too, I'm a little old for it, but I, I looked at it in resentment because it was like, in comparison to the shows that I grew up with, in that, in that same vibe.

• 22:16Speaker 03

Oh, California Dreams. Very, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um...

• 22:19Speaker 01

Remember City Guys? Did you have City Guy? That was a deep time. C-I-T-Y, you can see why these guys, yeah, that was a deep time.

• 22:26Speaker 03

And then we had all the cartoons, you know, like Hey Arnold, Dog, and all that kind of stuff. The Simpsons, obviously a big Simpsons fan. Um, Futurama, Family Guy, Friends, you know. We had, we had all of them.

• 22:38H. Foley?

Yeah. What was the first concert you went to?

• 22:40Speaker 03

  Uh...

• 22:41H. Foley?

  It's a big one.

• 22:42Speaker 03

It was Frank Black and the Catholics, I believe.

• 22:44H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 22:45Speaker 03

  Yeah, Frank.

• 22:46H. Foley?

  Irish band?

• 22:47Speaker 03

No, Frank Black from the Pixies.

• 22:48H. Foley?

  Oh, duh. All right.

• 22:50Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 22:50H. Foley?

  That's pretty legit.

• 22:51Speaker 01

  That's a good concert.

• 22:52H. Foley?

How old were you when you went to that?

• 22:53Speaker 03

It was either, I think 13. It was either that or Jethro Tull, but I think, I think. I think Jethro Tull was fourteen, so I think Frank Black was the first one.

• 23:02H. Foley?

  Jethro Tull's a good one.

• 23:03Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. God, it was like, but it was, I, it was kind of past its prime, like, because we went and everybody was sitting, like, it was sitting.

• 23:11H. Foley?

Yeah, he was popular in the seventies.

• 23:14Speaker 03

Well, like, no, but Ian Anderson was there still, like, going, man. He was going with his flute and he was dancing around the place. And but then, like, but all the audience was kind of old. And like, at one point, some guy, like, started to get up, like, and the person behind him just pushed him down. And I was like, ah, God, we were gonna get a party going. My brother.

• 23:35H. Foley?

  You and your brother?

• 23:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 23:36H. Foley?

And the same thing with, uh, with the, the one in thirteen?

• 23:39Speaker 03

Frank Black and the Catholics, I don't know. I remember being very drunk.

• 23:43H. Foley?

  Thirteen?

• 23:44Speaker 03

Ah, sure, look at. We were in the old country. Sorry, ma, sorry, ma. And...

• 23:49H. Foley?

  Kid gets after it.

• 23:50Speaker 03

Well, do you know, I, but by the time I was eighteen, I wasn't doing nothing, you know. I was on the straight and narrow. Wrestling put me on the straight and narrow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now look at me.

• 24:00Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:00Speaker 03

  Now look at me, ma.

• 24:01Speaker 01

  Now she's got a belt.

• 24:02Speaker 03

Now I got a belt, you know. I've held nearly all of them. The only one I'm missing is the US title. But sure, look at, we'll probably get that in a second.

• 24:11Speaker 01

  What, say that again?

• 24:12Speaker 03

We'll probably get that in a second. Yeah, sure, look at. Yeah.

• 24:15Speaker 01

  Confident, I mean, geez.

• 24:17Speaker 03

I mean, I'm the best. I'm the best ever doing.

• 24:19Speaker 01

  They're significantly heavier than I, than I, there's, yeah, that's, I mean.

• 24:24Speaker 03

  And that's a smaller one.

• 24:25Speaker 01

I had fake ones growing up.

• 24:27Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 24:27Speaker 01

  Man, I was a...

• 24:28Speaker 03

The real thing, the real gold. Me lucky charm.

• 24:33H. Foley?

  What was the first job?

• 24:34Speaker 03

First job, um, first job I had was, I mean, I was a bit of an entrepreneur myself, you know. We washed cars and stuff.

• 24:45Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 24:46H. Foley?

  Really?

• 24:46Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, like...

• 24:48Speaker 01

Go to the neighbor's house or whatever?

• 24:49Speaker 03

Yeah, like... We had, like, I grew up on a tiny little housing estate, you know, and there was like fifty-four houses, but there was a bunch of us. It was like ten girls, all my same age as me. Running around. So we had this like little band of girls and we were like eight years old and going and getting money so that we could go down to the shop and buy sweets, you know? I was actually eating a Werther's Original just a second when I came in there.

• 25:14Speaker 01

What are you, a hundred? I said you had a Werther's Original today?

• 25:16Speaker 03

Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was in the car.

• 25:19Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 25:20Speaker 03

Which, by the way- Don't eat those, what are you, nuts? You're eating Uber candy? Well, no.

• 25:24Speaker 01

We gotta, we gotta get something from WWE to protect her. She's eating, she's eating random Werther's Originals she found in an Uber.

• 25:30Speaker 03

Yeah, but like, I was, I was just saying to me manager Dip, I was like, I remember when Werther's came to Ireland. Like, I remember going down with my car wash money to buy a pack of Werther's.

• 25:42Speaker 01

I would've thought they were invented in Ireland in the eighties. That's a boycott made of them.

• 25:46Speaker 03

No, I, no, I remember like, I remember the ad and there was like an old grandpa.

• 25:50Speaker 01

  I know, yeah.

• 25:51Speaker 03

So cozy. Those things just hit different. They're great. They were so good.

• 25:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 25:56Speaker 03

And I'm saying like, they were probably like grandfathered in to you guys, but I remember when they came. When they blew up in Ireland? I remember when they came to Ireland. It was amazing. But anyway, so like, we would all go around knocking on the, on the, on the neighbors' doors. Can we wash your car? Yeah, can we wash your, and we would like just shrieks, just make it way worse. It was horrible. Way worse than it was before. So that if you count that as a job, which, you know. Entrepreneur, as you said, yeah. Entrepreneur. And then I worked at a restaurant called, what was the name of it? It was in Hoth.

• 26:29Speaker 03

Oh, it was under the railroad station. Did you go? You were in Dublin. You didn't go to Hoth? Hey, Becky worked here? You didn't go to Hoth?

• 26:37Speaker 01

  No, what's Hoth?

• 26:38Speaker 03

Hoth, oh, Hoth is beautiful. It's, it's in Dublin.

• 26:41Speaker 01

  Neighborhood or a town?

• 26:41Speaker 03

It's in Dublin. It's like a little, like, uh, kinda like a fishing village, like.

• 26:45Speaker 01

  Oh, no, we did it.

• 26:46Speaker 03

We might've staggered through it, to be honest with you.

• 26:48Speaker 01

Listen, it's all very, it's all very-

• 26:50Speaker 03

Outside of the city. Well, if you go back, you should go to Hoth. It's beautiful. St. Stephen's Green, I loved. Oh, St. Stephen's Green, yeah, yeah.

• 26:57Speaker 01

I don't know, those pigeons were a little too much. Those were the ducks. They were, yeah.

• 27:01Speaker 03

  Yeah, very menacing.

• 27:03Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 27:03Speaker 03

  Very menacing.

• 27:04Speaker 01

  Very confident ducks or pigeons.

• 27:06Speaker 03

Yeah, they are very confident, as they should be. You know what I mean?

• 27:10Speaker 01

  You gotta believe in yourself.

• 27:11Speaker 03

They run, they run that city, you know?

• 27:13Speaker 01

What was the first car? Or no, well, okay, two questions. What was the family car growing up and what was your first car?

• 27:21Speaker 03

  My...

• 27:23H. Foley?

  Dad invented one.

• 27:25Speaker 03

  I know.

• 27:25H. Foley?

  And it had six wheels.

• 27:26Speaker 03

He loved cars. You make it sound like you're doing like a language barrier to figure out what a car is. He loved cars. Well, now I'm just trying to think like, like I remember me ma's, she had this like, it was orange or red, like maybe it was like a Fiesta of some sort. And my dad had an Alpha Romeo. Really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Very nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 27:46H. Foley?

  That's big over here.

• 27:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 27:49H. Foley?

  That's fancy stuff.

• 27:50Speaker 03

You know, he bought it. He bought it second hand, of course.

• 27:52H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 27:53Speaker 03

With the auto dent. Maybe he used the auto scanner. The auto scanner. Yeah, yeah.

• 27:57H. Foley?

  So plastic.

• 27:58Speaker 03

Yeah, uh, and so he, he had one of them, took really good care of it. And then my first car, well, my ma, uh, she got a Volkswagen Polo. And eventually I just started driving it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 28:12H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 28:13Speaker 03

And then when I came over here, oh my god, the used car system over here. Just, oh, what a racket. What a racket. Welcome to the USA. I just got like ripped off left, right and center. Didn't know what I was doing. Couldn't get, I was living in Orlando, couldn't get around. Bought this little banger of a thing. It broke down as soon as I like got off the lot. Like as soon as I got, it smelled gross. It was all disgusting. Like it was a death trap. It was a something. It began with an S, like a Su... Saturn Suzuki? Maybe a Suzuki or something. Maybe, maybe it was an awful little piece of shit.

• 28:55Speaker 03

Oh, I hated that car. And then, and then my friend, another Irish man, Joe Cabray, legend of a lad, he was in NXT with me. In WW, that's our developmental system, for people that don't know. And then he got fired. And then he gave me his car, sold it to me. And then I was driving to get a fricking root canal and then that thing blew up. You got bad luck with these cars. Yeah, yeah. No, this, like disaster. Just as that, that thing just smoked, just smoked on high. And I'm like, I was, what am I gonna do? And then there was this guy.

• 29:28Speaker 01

Is that an intercontinental superstar Becky Lynch over there?

• 29:31H. Foley?

Hold on, I just want to say, you were doing pretty good up until that little thing where you got to Orlando, Suzuki, Route Canal.

• 29:39Speaker 01

Car on fire on the side of the road.

• 29:41Speaker 03

Car on fire on the side of the road. And then, oh man, then I like, I, I, I was at a show and there was a security guy. And he was driving a Volkswagen Beetle. I was like, that's my dream car.

• 29:55H. Foley?

  Really?

• 29:55Speaker 03

That's my dream car right there. That's my dream car. And he was like, I'll sell it to you.

• 29:59Speaker 01

Oh my God, you're buying cars off people.

• 30:01H. Foley?

  Twenty-five grand.

• 30:02Speaker 03

I know. Well, no, it was reasonable. It was like, eight, eight grand, but I couldn't afford it at that time.

• 30:07H. Foley?

Eight grand? Was it one of the newer ones? Like the ones that they, it wasn't like an old school one?

• 30:13Speaker 03

No, it wasn't like a super old school. It was like one of the newer, one of the newer ones. And so I bought it off him.

• 30:18Speaker 01

  What year is this? Ballpark?

• 30:19Speaker 03

This was two thousand thirteen, fourteen, maybe. I bought off him and, uh, I like, I, he was so, he was so nice and he was letting me like just pay, pay him like weekly installments, you know?

• 30:35Speaker 01

That's not a bad setup. Weekly installments to own a Beetle. Bug, yeah, it was crazy.

• 30:41H. Foley?

  Shut the Route Canal.

• 30:42Speaker 03

Because he still, because he still owed money on it. And then I,

• 30:45Speaker 01

Oh my, you are digging yourself into a garbage hole. Welcome to the show.

• 30:50H. Foley?

Orlando hit you hard. That's crazy.

• 30:53Speaker 01

  I know.

• 30:53Speaker 03

But then, but then I was able to pay it off. Then I was able to pay it off. But then he died and he never paid it off.

• 31:00Speaker 01

  Oh my God.

• 31:01Speaker 03

So then they repossessed it. So that was my car experience.

• 31:05Speaker 01

You had a Doug guy's car repossessed in Orlando.

• 31:08H. Foley?

It still had money on it.

• 31:09Speaker 03

It was terrible. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he was such a lovely guy too. Yeah, yeah. God bless.

• 31:14H. Foley?

  That's too bad.

• 31:15Speaker 01

  Yeah, that is true.

• 31:16Speaker 03

And I never, but that was my dream car.

• 31:19Speaker 01

Well, you got it. What do you, what's the car now, if you don't mind me asking? Something nice.

• 31:24Speaker 03

Well, no, it's not nice. Well, it's, I drive Teslas. And I like, I like it for, um, for the,

• 31:29Speaker 01

  The environment.

• 31:30Speaker 03

  The environment for purposes.

• 31:31H. Foley?

All right. Since we're, since we're getting there, what the car is now.

• 31:37H. Foley?

You went through it, you earned everything that you have. The first time you got the big check, what'd you do with it? Were you always kinda smart with money?

• 31:46Speaker 03

  I've, I'm, I am still terrified of, I'm not, I'm not like a

• 31:51H. Foley?

  A spender?

• 31:51Speaker 03

  I'm not, I'm not.

• 31:52H. Foley?

You didn't go out and buy a bunch of jet skis, anything like that?

• 31:54Speaker 03

No, no, no, no, no. No, I bought like $250 shoes, like runners, like Adidas. And a pack of Wethers? Adidas, like platform Jeremy Scott shoes, which I thought was like baller. That was your first large pair of shoes? That was my big, that was my big

• 32:08H. Foley?

Really? Smart with money? Old school Irish, I respect it.

• 32:11Speaker 03

Yeah, ah, but sure, look, what do I need? Like, I'm not like, I'm not a designer person, you know? I have like a Gucci purse and I just like, I bought it for practicality, but it's like worn to the ground, like it's in bits, you know?

• 32:25H. Foley?

  Yeah.

• 32:25Speaker 03

Like pure in, like I don't, I don't care about any of that stuff, you know what I mean?

• 32:29H. Foley?

Okay, I respect that. I like that, that's good, that's sharp.

• 32:32Speaker 03

Not, not, not, not a, not a big baller. What does, uh, what's a vacation look like now?

• 32:36H. Foley?

  Kinda nice, right?

• 32:38Speaker 03

Yeah, you had a husband, good go away? Yeah, no, no, no, yeah, no, when we, when we go away, we, we like, we like, we like something a bit nice, you know, but we just don't go away very often. Not going to the camper down?

• 32:48H. Foley?

  Sure.

• 32:48Speaker 03

I would love to go down to the camper, like, I would love to do that, it just takes a lot of time, you know? Wow. And then I'm in the car with a four-year-old for, you know, six hours and I have no idea how my parents did it, but they'd be blasting Fleetwood Mac and I'm just like, you know? She likes the classic.

• 33:06H. Foley?

  She likes the classic.

• 33:07Speaker 03

I gotta give it to her.

• 33:08H. Foley?

  I respect it.

• 33:09Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 33:10H. Foley?

  Fleetwood Mac.

• 33:11Speaker 03

The tape, you know, and then you'd have to take it out and turn it over and, you know? It was great, it was great, yeah. Okay. But gosh, where was the last vacation that we took? Uh...

• 33:23H. Foley?

You guys do the beach, you do it all-inclusive, you like hotels?

• 33:26Speaker 03

  Do you ski?

• 33:27H. Foley?

Rent a house, what do you guys prefer?

• 33:29Speaker 03

You know what, I've snowb, I used, I used to snowboard. Okay, not for you? It's a lot of work. It's a lot of work.

• 33:36Speaker 01

Seeing you fly through the air.

• 33:37Speaker 03

It's a lot of, yeah, exactly.

• 33:39H. Foley?

  Jumping off the top rope.

• 33:41Speaker 03

  Exactly.

• 33:41Speaker 01

  It's a lot of work.

• 33:42Speaker 03

I don't want to be doing all that while my time off, you know, you gotta like, you're climbing up the thing. You've got all the layers and you're hot and you gotta like drag the snowboard up and you're like, you know, you know what I mean?

• 33:54Speaker 01

Speed people up, she's going, I gotta carry my snowboard.

• 33:57Speaker 03

Oh, God. And then you, you go down the hill and you're like, oh yeah, this is nice. And then you gotta go all the way back. Oh, it's just such a.

• 34:03Speaker 01

  I got you.

• 34:03H. Foley?

  We know you guys are.

• 34:04Speaker 03

  I don't get it. I don't get it.

• 34:05H. Foley?

We know you guys are very busy. Do you guys, you know, when you have some time off or whatever, a night or two, do you guys like to go out to dinner? You like doing dinner?

• 34:12Speaker 01

  Nice restaurants?

• 34:12H. Foley?

  Like a nice restaurant?

• 34:13Speaker 03

We, we don't, we don't do it too often, you know, like because we're gone so much.

• 34:17H. Foley?

  Of course.

• 34:18Speaker 03

And when we're home, we just like to be at home, like with our daughter. Uh, I love a dinner party.

• 34:22Speaker 01

  Whoa.

• 34:23Speaker 03

  I love a dinner party.

• 34:24Speaker 01

This is great. This is very good.

• 34:26Speaker 03

I, I read like an article about the death of the dinner party. I said, not on my watch. Not on my watch. No.

• 34:32H. Foley?

So you'll have the other couples over?

• 34:33Speaker 03

When I, when I was a kid, there was always, you know, my mom would be cooking or like, or my aunt would be cooking. There was hustle, bustle, you know, everybody be over, the kids would be playing. I love that. I love that buzz. And so I was like, I'm gonna bring this back. I'm gonna do it. And I love it. I love it. Like I had, not too long ago, brought everybody over, did an Irish stew. The kids were off playing, you know what I mean? Like it was great. It was so great. I love that.

• 34:58H. Foley?

Do you have, I'm sorry, do you have them bring stuff with them? Like, you know, and like a potluck or do you handle it all?

• 35:03Speaker 03

No, well, I handle it and, and you know, people, guests are so nice, you know, they bring something.

• 35:08H. Foley?

How do you feel about that? And how do you, when you're going over to dinner at somebody else's house, do you generally bring something with you?

• 35:15Speaker 01

A bottle of wine, a dessert, anything?

• 35:17Speaker 03

You never show up empty handed. Oh my God. My mother would kill me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you can't show up empty handed. And I always say this to my husband. I'm like, no, we can't show up empty handed. He's like, they don't care. They don't want anything. I'm like, it's manners.

• 35:29Speaker 01

And where's your husband from, if you don't mind me asking?

• 35:30Speaker 03

  Iowa.

• 35:31Speaker 01

  He's from Iowa.

• 35:32Speaker 03

  He's from Iowa.

• 35:32H. Foley?

He gets it. They don't want none.

• 35:33Speaker 01

  They don't want none.

• 35:34H. Foley?

I did hear him saying that right now.

• 35:35Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like, no, no, no. No, no, no. You never show up empty.

• 35:39Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 35:39Speaker 03

  Never, never. That's just polite.

• 35:41Speaker 01

  I, I, I understand.

• 35:42Speaker 03

  That's just manners.

• 35:43H. Foley?

When you guys do occasionally get to go out to dinner, how do you feel about taking leftovers home from the restaurant?

• 35:48Speaker 03

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I, I don't like wasting. I don't like wasting. But like, so, so my husband, like, he's, he loves a, he loves a fancy restaurant. Like a tasting menu, you know, like a, like a, like a let's go ten courses.

• 36:02Speaker 01

What the hell's this? What the hell's a tasting menu?

• 36:04Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 36:05H. Foley?

I'd like to know what he did with the first big check. I'm sure it was something.

• 36:08Speaker 03

Actually, he's pretty, he's pretty, he's pretty, uh, good too. Um, but, uh, yeah, so he loves like a, a real fancy restaurant. I love a gastropub. You know what I mean? Like, when they got some like fried cauliflower.

• 36:20H. Foley?

The most Irish thing ever said.

• 36:22Speaker 01

  I love a gastropub.

• 36:24H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 36:25Speaker 03

And they, they got cauliflower on the menu. You know what I mean? Like, that's, that's what I want.

• 36:29Speaker 01

That is, that is a trashy person's idea of class. They got Brussels sprouts and cauliflower. You love Brussels sprouts. Of course you do.

• 36:37Speaker 03

Yes, yes. When you see the Brussels sprout, the deep fried Brussels sprouts.

• 36:41Speaker 01

I mean, yeah, you might as well be eating a chicken finger.

• 36:43Speaker 03

Yeah, and then, but then you go, God, what are we doing with Brussels sprouts?

• 36:47Speaker 01

They, they, they, listen, they popped up very recent and I'm on board with the deep fried Brussels sprout.

• 36:52Speaker 03

  I know, me too.

• 36:54Speaker 01

  I'm right there with you.

• 36:54Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah. Good for them, man. That is a glow up and a half. Like, these boiled Brussels sprouts that we're all forced to eat. And then we find out that if you just stick them in a bunch, we could have been using our deep fried fryer for that.

• 37:08Speaker 01

The fry daddy. Plug the fry daddy in. Let's go.

• 37:12Speaker 03

  Yeah, we missed out.

• 37:13H. Foley?

If you had to choose, not that you do it that much, um, what would be your go-to fast food? Would it be McDonald's?

• 37:19Speaker 03

  Um, no.

• 37:20H. Foley?

  No?

• 37:21Speaker 03

No, I like a Burger King.

• 37:23Speaker 01

A Burger King. Good for you. Fucking the system.

• 37:26Speaker 03

Do you know what? Yeah, I like, I like, I like a Burger King.

• 37:29H. Foley?

  That's why she's the champ.

• 37:30Speaker 03

The burgers are better, you know? My dad used to love a Whopper, you know?

• 37:36Speaker 03

  He's a love a lover.

• 37:37Speaker 01

I don't know why that tickled me. That was good.

• 37:39Speaker 03

Like, you know, but that was the thing, because my parents, by the way, were separated. I didn't go over this, but my parents separated when I was one. And my dad lived down in Limerick, Stab City.

• 37:50Speaker 01

This is now all checking out. You really painted a little bit better of a picture. Yeah. Dads in Stab City.

• 37:56Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we would, you know, we would then go see him every other weekend and so, and then by...

• 38:01H. Foley?

  Gotcha, okay.

• 38:01Speaker 03

And he would be living like, he'd be living in like, in like a studio, kind of with like students and stuff. And my ma was like, I don't want my kids going down and like, you know. So she moved them back into the house. And so they like, they just lived in their separate rooms, lived their separate lives. And so they weren't together.

• 38:23Speaker 01

But lived in the same house.

• 38:24Speaker 03

And never dated anybody. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like, just, yeah, yeah, but lived in the same house. And we did like everything as a family, but just like we weren't, like it was, we were divorced.

• 38:32H. Foley?

Jethro told dinner parties, you should have opened with that.

• 38:35Speaker 01

I don't know how, I don't know how we didn't pick up on that, that we really, you're trash and I love you.

• 38:40Speaker 03

  What are you doing?

• 38:41Speaker 01

I mean, this is 100% welcome to the show. You are trash.

• 38:45H. Foley?

Kevin, let's talk about True Classics.

• 38:46Speaker 01

  Ooh, the truest classics.

• 38:48H. Foley?

Let me ask you a question. What's the best t-shirt you ever owned?

• 38:52Speaker 01

I got one answer. It's True Classics.

• 38:53H. Foley?

That's right. And why? Because they fit good, they feel good, they wash good.

• 38:56Speaker 01

Buddy, you took the words right out of my mouth.

• 38:58H. Foley?

Did you know that True Classics just doesn't do t-shirts? They got a whole line?

• 39:01Speaker 01

  I did know that.

• 39:02H. Foley?

Do yourself a favor, get over there, True Classics, that's your one stop shop, baby, for looking fly, looking fresh and feeling good.

• 39:08Speaker 01

Yeah. I'm wearing a bozo shirt right now and I'm upset about it.

• 39:11H. Foley?

  It stinks.

• 39:11Speaker 01

I know, it's, it's baggy in the wrong places. I look like I'm fatter than I am.

• 39:15H. Foley?

  You got no pipes.

• 39:16Speaker 01

I know, but with, with True Classics, now that I'm slimming down a little bit, True Classics, you put it on.

• 39:20H. Foley?

  Oh, yeah.

• 39:21Speaker 01

I look like, dude, I look like an out...

• 39:22H. Foley?

What do you think you're in, an XL?

• 39:24Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 39:24H. Foley?

  A large?

• 39:25Speaker 01

  Probably a large.

• 39:25H. Foley?

Buddy, you throw on a large True Classic?

• 39:27Speaker 01

I look like an outside linebacker.

• 39:29H. Foley?

Ooh, you look like fucking Swayze from Roadhouse.

• 39:31Speaker 01

Coming in hot, baby. Uh, I've said it once, I've been using True Classics, because I used to listen to, I'd listen to podcasts, I'm a podcast consumer, I'd listen, people talk about True Classics, I'd go, let me check this out. They can't be all about the hype. I checked it out. I friggin' love them.

• 39:43H. Foley?

So all you gotta do is take that one step.

• 39:45Speaker 01

You know? They got the packs, they send you this, they send you that. It's, it, listen, you can grab, uh, grab them at Target. Listen to this. Don't get them at Target. Listen, I have to contractually say, you get them at Target, get them at Costco, but real, real homies and bozos will go to Americans. Trueclassic.com slash garbage and get hooked up today. One more time, trueclassic.com slash garbage. Now back to the show. Back to the show.

  But like, uh,

• 40:38Speaker 01

  Did they get along?

• 40:40Speaker 03

No, no, uh, no, no, uh,

• 40:43Speaker 01

  All right, now we're there.

• 40:44Speaker 03

No, uh, I mean, like, they, uh, I think there was

• 40:47Speaker 01

  Nice try, lady.

• 40:49Speaker 03

  Like, they, they were, they

• 40:50Speaker 01

That media training is really rubbing off.

• 40:52Speaker 03

They tolerated each other, you know what I mean? Like, very, like, very admirable, you know, like, we didn't really see them fighting that much.

• 41:00Speaker 01

That's good not to do it in front of the kids, yeah.

• 41:02Speaker 03

Until my ma, like, then she met her husband now, who's wonderful, and, but, you know, like, and she was like, oh, God, I don't want to be, I don't, I don't want to meet anybody because this was just, this was the setup and this worked.

• 41:14Speaker 01

It was easy, it was working.

• 41:15Speaker 03

And then, but then, you know, she met somebody, you know, after living with her ex for,

• 41:20Speaker 01

  How do you

• 41:21Speaker 03

You know, for like a decade.

• 41:22Speaker 01

How do you sit down and tell your, your su, you know, your new boyfriend, hey, by the way, my ex lives at the house? That guy's not my brother.

• 41:28Speaker 03

My stepdad called and my dad answered. That was when he first, like, went to ask my ma out.

• 41:35Speaker 01

  No way.

• 41:35Speaker 03

Like, that was the situat, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was wild.

• 41:38Speaker 01

  That's so funny.

• 41:39Speaker 03

But they, I mean, they were separated for however many years, but, um, where was I going with that?

• 41:44Speaker 01

I don't know, but we went right, right to the meat, yeah, to the meat of the show.

• 41:48Speaker 03

Yeah, but, uh, separated parents, oh, yeah, yeah, so, whopper.

• 41:52Speaker 01

The whopper. It all comes back to Burger King.

• 41:55Speaker 03

Then, so then, um, then my ma moves out and we move in with her, but it was next door. By the way, it was next door to my stepdad now. So, uh, so what happened was, you know.

• 42:08Speaker 01

Man, this polish is really rubbing off.

• 42:10Speaker 03

She was, she was looking, yeah, she was looking for a place near my stepdad because we lived like half an hour away. And, you know, she was going back and forth and all that kind of stuff.

• 42:18Speaker 01

Where did they meet, if you don't mind me asking?

• 42:19Speaker 03

He was a pilot. He, he was a pilot. He was a pilot. She starts dating a pilot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. And so, um, and so, but anyway. Good for her. Anyway, the, my, my stepdad was building a shed in his back garden.

• 42:35Speaker 01

  Oh, this isn't good.

• 42:35Speaker 03

He accidentally knocks down the back wall. The neighbor's going wild. She's like, ah, you gotta get this thing. And anyway, and then, and then she calls a few days later and she's like, actually, I'm gonna sell it. I'm gonna sell the house. And he's like, oh, well. And so then we bought the house next door. But like, so my mom didn't wanna move us all in together into the one house with, with my stepdad. So. Shit. So, so we had.

• 43:00Speaker 01

You had two houses next to each other.

• 43:02Speaker 03

Two houses next to each other, but no back wall. So she'd be like, she would go in and out.

• 43:07Speaker 01

Who was at the, who was at the second? So your mom moved in with your stepdad?

• 43:11Speaker 03

No, she moved into our house.

• 43:13Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 43:14Speaker 03

And my stepdad lived next door.

• 43:16Speaker 01

Oh, you are built for the show. This is, that is wild.

• 43:19Speaker 03

Then anyway, so then when I'd see me dad, me dad loved to go for a Whopper.

• 43:26Speaker 03

And like we'd go, we'd go and we'd get like a Whopper at Burger King and that was like our fancy.

• 43:31Speaker 01

Yeah, that was a moment for you.

• 43:32Speaker 03

That was our fancy, that was our fancy day. And I loved it. I'd get a double cheeseburger.

• 43:35H. Foley?

  There you go.

• 43:36Speaker 03

And I still love it. But, you know, I will say.

• 43:39H. Foley?

Asking you what your fast food is revealed all that garbage about the family. That's beautiful. That is absolutely beautiful.

• 43:44Speaker 03

I will say. They, they really have an identity crisis when it comes to their chips. Like their french fries, like, do you remember they had like, they had the standard McDonald's french fries, right? Like they just tasted the same. It was great, it was great, it was great. And they had, they had, they had different burgers and, but they had the standard fries. And then they changed it and they went to those crispy fries. And everybody was like, oh my God, what they do, I hate these fries. And then after a while, you were like, I like these chips. You know what I mean? I like, I like these. But then now, I've had it recently, I know what they're doing. I know what they're doing. It's just like this bland, generic.

• 44:19H. Foley?

  No good.

• 44:19Speaker 03

No good, no good. Like go back to the, go back, you, you either gotta go full McDonald's or you gotta go weird crispy, whatever the hell that was.

• 44:28H. Foley?

  I got you.

• 44:28Speaker 03

  With weird taste.

• 44:29H. Foley?

  I got you.

• 44:30Speaker 03

To it, but that kind of became a little bit cracky.

• 44:32H. Foley?

I'm not, I'm not that much of a world traveler. Um, and I think I call balls and strikes when it comes to food. I do have some nostalgia hangups. I, when we got back from Ireland, I said this on record. All right, as much as I love America, I know that I'm an American. The fries, chips over there.

• 44:49Speaker 03

  Oh, the chippers.

• 44:50H. Foley?

  They're better.

• 44:51Speaker 03

  Well, see, oh wait.

• 44:52Speaker 01

I don't think that's up for debate, really.

• 44:53Speaker 03

No, no, no, way better. I mean, like a chipper, a chipper chip is the one thing that I, but like, does that count? Can, can I, can I change my answer and say that I love a chipper chip? Like a chipper, yeah, like I love a chipper, but there's no chippers over here. So I thought we were talking about the American.

• 45:08Speaker 01

Sure, no, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't think I know chipper chip.

• 45:11H. Foley?

We saw, we saw them over there.

• 45:12Speaker 03

The chippers, you didn't go to a chipper?

• 45:14Speaker 01

  No.

• 45:14Speaker 03

  They're usually like.

• 45:15Speaker 01

I got wood chippers, that's how out of it in America we are.

• 45:18Speaker 03

No, they're like, uh, usually there's.

• 45:19H. Foley?

  A chain?

• 45:20Speaker 03

  No.

• 45:21H. Foley?

  No?

• 45:21Speaker 03

Well, there's a few chains, but they're like usually named after Italians, you know, like there's like Gino's or something. You know what I mean?

• 45:28Speaker 01

  Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.

• 45:29Speaker 03

And there were these, they're these chippers.

• 45:30Speaker 01

The fish and chip shop or takeaway.

• 45:32Speaker 03

  Fish and chip.

• 45:33Speaker 01

  A commenter, yeah, okay.

• 45:34Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, but they're incredible. And if you get a sausage from a chipper, ooh.

• 45:38H. Foley?

We fell in love with the sausage roll.

• 45:40Speaker 03

Oh, sausage roll, stop the lights. Do you get any from a gas station?

• 45:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 45:45H. Foley?

That's so funny. Man, you are trash.

• 45:48Speaker 03

They are the best and also the fried chicken at the, at the gas stations, petrol stations over there. But the fried chicken and the sausage rolls at a gas, oh my god. Did you get a chicken fillet roll?

• 45:59H. Foley?

We did have a chicken fillet roll. I might have been at the gas station. We stopped at one gas station on the way to the west coast. And we did it specifically because we heard that the food at the gas stations was top shelf.

• 46:11Speaker 03

  Incredible.

• 46:12H. Foley?

  Trashy but top shelf.

• 46:13Speaker 03

Incred- no, incredible. Incredible. Oh, sausage roll, man. Stop the lights. Stop the lights.

• 46:19H. Foley?

Two of those and I stopped for coffee?

• 46:20Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 46:21H. Foley?

  Right back to bed.

• 46:21Speaker 03

A cup of tea and I'll, if you're over.

• 46:23H. Foley?

  Are you tea or coffee?

• 46:24Speaker 03

I'm a coffee person. I'm a big coffee snob, actually.

• 46:26Speaker 01

  How do you?

• 46:27H. Foley?

  Really?

• 46:27Speaker 01

Okay. In what sense? Like, we offered you a cup of coffee when you got here. Under what? No way.

• 46:34Speaker 03

  Absolutely not.

• 46:34H. Foley?

  You wouldn't have took it?

• 46:35Speaker 03

  Well.

• 46:36Speaker 01

  She didn't.

• 46:37Speaker 03

  I didn't.

• 46:37H. Foley?

  Of course.

• 46:38Speaker 03

I didn't. Well, no, like, I like to, that's, we go out, we're traveling all the time. That's what I look for, right? Like, I look for a good coffee shop. And then we go and that's our experience, you know? That's what we look for whenever we go to a different town.

• 46:53H. Foley?

Starbucks, how do you feel about that? New?

• 46:54Speaker 03

Oh, god, no. God, no, god, no.

• 46:58Speaker 01

What's the, what's the order? Like, what's the, you're in a perfect, you, you, you're in a perfect cafe, what's the go, what are you doing?

• 47:04Speaker 03

Well, so it depends on, on, so, standardly an espresso and a quartado, right?

• 47:09H. Foley?

  Quartados are great.

• 47:10Speaker 03

  Oh, they're great. They're great.

• 47:12Speaker 01

I found out what they were not that long. My wife's European and it's.

• 47:15H. Foley?

I thought it was a city in Spain.

• 47:16Speaker 01

  They're fantastic.

• 47:17Speaker 03

So we'll get an espresso and a quartado and then depending on how tired I am, then maybe like a sugary treat, you know? So I, I get to try the coffee all the way. You know what I mean?

• 47:27H. Foley?

So you'll do one of the Frappuccino style shaky kind of things?

• 47:30Speaker 03

Not like a Frappuccino, but like some sort of a fancy latte.

• 47:32H. Foley?

Any drizzle? You doing a drizzle?

• 47:34Speaker 03

No, not really a drizzle. Not really a drizzle, you know? But like a little, like, sea salt flake, you know what I mean?

• 47:40Speaker 01

That's classy. I'll give you that. That's classy.

• 47:42Speaker 03

Yeah, classy. Ooh, yeah, with a little, like, a little.

• 47:44Speaker 01

You're just talking about eating at a gas station two seconds ago. Don't try to play.

• 47:48H. Foley?

You like a little sea salt on a chocolate chip cookie?

• 47:50Speaker 03

Oh, do I ever, or a chocolate.

• 47:51Speaker 01

That's like with the Brussels sprouts. That came out of nowhere five years ago and it killed it.

• 47:56Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 47:56H. Foley?

If I would have known about that when I was a kid, I'd be dead.

• 47:59Speaker 03

  Easily by now.

• 48:00Speaker 01

  I'm surprised you're not.

• 48:01Speaker 03

  Incredible, incredible.

• 48:03Speaker 01

  Oh, okay.

• 48:04Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, sea salt in anything, like a lot of chocolate.

• 48:07Speaker 01

What would you say your go- like, if you, if we were coming over for dinner? Where are you living? What's?

• 48:12Speaker 03

  Los Angeles.

• 48:13Speaker 01

Los Angeles, very nice. Um, you got a pool out there?

• 48:16Speaker 03

  We do, actually.

• 48:16Speaker 01

  Salt water, freshwater?

• 48:20Speaker 03

Chlorine? Chlorine, chlorine, yeah. Hot tub? Uh, no, but the pool is like a hot tub. We have a heated pool. Okay. When we moved in, there was no. It was like cold and we got it.

• 48:30Speaker 01

  Can't do that.

• 48:31Speaker 03

Can't be doing this, can't be doing this, you know? The cold is still in my bones, you know?

• 48:34Speaker 01

Can you walk into the pool, or do you have to? Do they have like the beach entrance into the pool?

• 48:38Speaker 03

No, no, no, no. It's a below ground, but it's... Yeah, it's below ground, yeah, yeah. And it has like a little fountain. I got it!

• 48:44Speaker 01

There's a WWE belt next to me, she's got an above ground pool.

• 48:47Speaker 03

It is, it has a, it has a fountain?

• 48:49Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 48:50Speaker 03

Like fountain, yeah, yeah. I'm with it. I like, I like that. That's real nice. Ask about going over, what are you gonna say?

• 48:56Speaker 01

Ask about what? Oh, if we were to go over, a few things, right? We come over the house, uh...

• 49:01Speaker 03

  Hay opera.

• 49:02Speaker 01

We're very happy to, I'll expect the invite next time we're in Los Angeles.

• 49:05Speaker 03

  Whatever.

• 49:06Speaker 01

Beginning of September, Bray Improv, no big deal. Um, if, uh, if you were gonna cook dinner, what is the one meal you would do for us?

• 49:15Speaker 03

Um, well, like, well, because you're Irish, lads, you know, you love their claim. Okay, all right, but I do do a good stew. I do do a good stew. Wait, why? You wouldn't want that?

• 49:24Speaker 01

I would, but that's gonna be, I knew that was gonna be her answer. She just did it at the dinner party, that's in the, that's in the bag of tricks, that's what she's putting out.

• 49:31Speaker 03

I make a great shepherd's pie, you know, like a good shepherd's pie.

• 49:35Speaker 01

  Ah, yeah, you do.

• 49:35Speaker 03

A braised short rib for being fancy, yeah. We're being fancy, let's be fancy. And I will say, I do, I do, I do make a good chicken curry. I do a great chicken curry, do a great chicken curry, yeah, yeah. Nice. Yeah, great chicken curry. Really tastes like the, like the chicken curry you get from Chinese back home, you know? I'm with you. Oh, God. Yeah, Chinese back home. And then you get the curry chips. Did you go to a Chinese when you were over there?

• 49:58Speaker 01

  No.

• 49:58Speaker 03

Ah, stop. Cause I always tell, you know, I always talk, tell my husband about like the chip, the chips from the Chinese. Home run. Back in Ireland. Stop it. Incredible. Knock it off. Incredible, incredible, incredible. And you don't get chips at Chinese over here.

• 50:14Speaker 01

Some, some, some of the ones in the city you can.

• 50:16Speaker 03

Really? You want a little tip?

• 50:19H. Foley?

Kind of a trashy Chinese spot. Okay, maybe not in the best of a neighborhood.

• 50:24Speaker 01

It's gotta be a tough neighborhood.

• 50:25H. Foley?

If you're in there. Do the half fried chicken and fries.

• 50:28Speaker 01

  It's crazy.

• 50:29H. Foley?

  Home run.

• 50:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 50:30Speaker 03

  Where, where is that?

• 50:30Speaker 01

If you go like any, in most major US cities. A Chinese place in a, not a great area will have good fried food.

• 50:39H. Foley?

A straight up half fried chicken with french fries.

• 50:41Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 50:42H. Foley?

You get some sauce, get some hot sauce, duck sauce, whatever you put on it. Wow.

• 50:45Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 50:46H. Foley?

  Juicy.

• 50:46Speaker 03

  Alright, alright.

• 50:47H. Foley?

  Home run.

• 50:47Speaker 03

  Alright, I'll let you know.

• 50:48H. Foley?

  Speaking of the house.

• 50:49Speaker 03

  Go on.

• 50:50H. Foley?

  In the kitchen.

• 50:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 50:52H. Foley?

Do you know, what are the appliances? Like what's the, what's the, their fridge? Is it a Viking?

• 50:56Speaker 01

  It's stainless steel.

• 50:57Speaker 03

  It is a Viking.

• 50:58H. Foley?

  Is it?

• 50:59Speaker 03

Yeah, no, it was a Viking and it was a piece of shit.

• 51:02Speaker 01

  Really?

• 51:03Speaker 03

  Yeah, it was, yeah, yeah.

• 51:04Speaker 01

  Take that Viking.

• 51:05Speaker 03

It was, yeah, yeah, yeah, actually, yeah, and then we had to replace it. Yeah, that's right. No, yeah, now I don't know what it is.

• 51:11H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 51:11Speaker 03

Yeah, we have a Viking, it was a Viking fridge crap, pure crap.

• 51:15Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 51:16Speaker 03

Like the freezer would always, like, it was just icy friggin' frosty mess.

• 51:22Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 51:22Speaker 03

You know, like just frosty shit on everything.

• 51:25H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 51:26Speaker 03

I hated it. Yeah, so we got rid of that. We got rid of that. Cause you know, we're big ice cream people too, and then like our ice cream just wasn't.

• 51:33H. Foley?

  Let's get into this.

• 51:34Speaker 03

Our ice cream wasn't, wasn't staying frozen. And can't have that.

• 51:37Speaker 01

  No.

• 51:37H. Foley?

  What do you do?

• 51:38Speaker 01

  Yeah, you sit.

• 51:38H. Foley?

Ice cream wise, what do you guys like?

• 51:40Speaker 03

We, you know Salt and Straw? We're big Salt and Straw people.

• 51:43Speaker 01

  Salt and stroll?

• 51:44Speaker 03

  People. Salt and Straw.

• 51:45H. Foley?

  That's fancy. That's, that's LA's.

• 51:47Speaker 03

Salt and Straw is fancy, is fancy.

• 51:48H. Foley?

Would you do a Ben and Jerry's or something like that?

• 51:50Speaker 03

I mean, yeah, like a Ben and Jerry's.

• 51:52H. Foley?

Flavor, what are we talking about?

• 51:53Speaker 03

Uh, I mean, you know, I remember, I remember when Ben and Jerry's came to Ireland too. You know, and like, so I just remember the fish food, you know, and I never kinda moved past the fish food.

• 52:03H. Foley?

  Really?

• 52:04Speaker 03

  Well, because it was perfection.

• 52:05Speaker 01

  Yeah, why?

• 52:06Speaker 03

You know what I mean? Like, why mess with it? You know, you get the little chocolate fishies.

• 52:09H. Foley?

  Sure.

• 52:10Speaker 03

And, and then, yeah, and we have a Viking oven.

• 52:15Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 52:15Speaker 03

  Yeah, I don't know.

• 52:16H. Foley?

We got an island in the kitchen?

• 52:17Speaker 03

We do have an island in the kitchen.

• 52:19H. Foley?

  Now.

• 52:19Speaker 01

Is there a sink in that island?

• 52:21Speaker 03

There is a sink in that island.

• 52:22Speaker 01

That's pretty good. See, that's called the produce sink or the farmer's? I forget what it is.

• 52:26H. Foley?

When you guys do have a night, night off, you're home, um, are we having dinner at the kitchen table?

• 52:33H. Foley?

Are we eating in front of the-

• 52:33Speaker 01

  You're on the couch.

• 52:34H. Foley?

Are we on the couch in front of the TV?

• 52:35Speaker 03

So if, so because my husband's real into his meal prep.

• 52:40H. Foley?

  Ah, that's right.

• 52:41Speaker 03

He's real into his meal prep, so we kind of all, for the most part, unless I'm doing a dinner party, we're all kind of eating different stuff.

• 52:48H. Foley?

  Staggered, no kidding?

• 52:49Speaker 03

We're all eating different stuff, you know?

• 52:50H. Foley?

  Are we sitting down together?

• 52:52Speaker 03

We're sitting on the couch, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, or, no, because now he's real into Lego, you know, so, so-

• 52:59Speaker 01

  Your husband?

• 52:59Speaker 03

  My hu- oh, yeah.

• 53:00Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 53:00Speaker 03

  Huge into Lego.

• 53:01Speaker 01

  Like, building Legos?

• 53:02Speaker 03

Building Lego, right now he's building the Hogwarts castle, so, um-

• 53:06Speaker 01

  That's not great.

• 53:08Speaker 03

  Is it not great?

• 53:08Speaker 01

  I mean-

• 53:09Speaker 03

  I think it's great. Yeah, it's great.

• 53:11H. Foley?

It's a huge thing, it's so many adults are, are starting to get into it.

• 53:14Speaker 03

  Yeah, and-

• 53:14H. Foley?

They're almost like crossword puzzles now.

• 53:16Speaker 03

Oh, he's also really big into his crossword, but that man-

• 53:20H. Foley?

Don't tell the guys in the locker room, this is gonna make fun of them.

• 53:21Speaker 03

No, no, I mean, like, he's real smart, like, he's real smart, but-

• 53:26H. Foley?

  Sharp guy.

• 53:26Speaker 03

Yeah, he's real smart, like, one of the smartest people I know, but like, he's on like, that, on the New York Times crossword, like, I think it's like, five, six years where he's had a gold streak.

• 53:36Speaker 01

  What?

• 53:37Speaker 03

A gold streak for like, five or six years.

• 53:39Speaker 01

  That's pretty good.

• 53:40H. Foley?

  That's pretty good.

• 53:40Speaker 03

Yeah, it's really, really good, but anyway, so he'll sit there building his Lego, my daughter loves building the people, you know, she loves-

• 53:47Speaker 01

Ah, putting the people together, yeah.

• 53:49Speaker 03

You know, so we'll kind of all congregate, or, in, at the, at the, at the kitchen table, which is in the Lego table. You know what I mean, so, and then we'll eat there and we'll chat and-

• 53:58H. Foley?

  I like it.

• 53:59Speaker 03

My daughter is also just, she's real into glitter glue, so she'll be making like, glitter glue butterflies and stuff like that and having, oh, it's great. Oh, I love it.

• 54:08Speaker 01

  Love it.

• 54:09H. Foley?

Uh, in the bedroom, king size mattress, queen size mattress?

• 54:12Speaker 03

  King size.

• 54:12H. Foley?

King, how many pillows are on that bed? You got a bunch?

• 54:16Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 54:16H. Foley?

Take them off before you guys go to bed?

• 54:18Speaker 03

  Yeah, and then there's two.

• 54:19H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 54:20Speaker 01

Yeah, how many are we talking, eight?

• 54:21Speaker 03

  Well, no-

• 54:22Speaker 01

  Six?

• 54:22Speaker 03

I mean, like, are we talking about decorative pillows too? Decorative pillows, there's four, then, so I would say like, uh, four plus-

• 54:32Speaker 03

  We're talking like nine, ten?

• 54:34H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 54:34Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 54:35H. Foley?

  TV in the bedroom?

• 54:36Speaker 03

  TV in the bedroom.

• 54:37H. Foley?

TV on when you guys fall asleep?

• 54:38Speaker 03

He has to fall asleep TV, I don't.

• 54:41Speaker 01

  What's on typically?

• 54:42Speaker 03

He, I don't know how he does it, but like he watches like these like war documentaries. Like Vietnam, like if I catch a glimpse, I'm like, oh my god. Yeah, yeah, like I'm like, what is this human cruelty like I, like I, I, I'm fascinated and I, you know, I loved history when I was younger, so I can't like fall asleep and then I'm like, then if I do, I'm just like traumatized, you know, by watching these images of war.

• 55:09H. Foley?

That's funny, that's what soothes them.

• 55:10Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah, and he's, you know, and or sometimes he'll do, I prefer when he does like space documentaries, I'm like, alright, yeah, I can fall asleep to that. But even like Animal, Animal Planet, like I'm like, how do you fall asleep to that? Look at this cute little panda bear, we're gonna find out if it makes its way home, you know?

• 55:29H. Foley?

  Ceiling fan?

• 55:30Speaker 03

  Uh, no.

• 55:31H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 55:32Speaker 03

  Ceiling fan.

• 55:32H. Foley?

Um, you like it cold in there, you like it warm in there?

• 55:35Speaker 03

  Cold, cold, cold.

• 55:36H. Foley?

Okay, you mentioned the pillows. When, when all the decoratives are off, are you using one pillow to go to sleep?

• 55:43Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 55:44H. Foley?

  Just, just one behind you?

• 55:45Speaker 03

  Just one.

• 55:45H. Foley?

Are you on your side or are you on your back?

• 55:46Speaker 03

  Side.

• 55:47H. Foley?

Huh, interesting. Husband, same thing? One pillow?

• 55:52Speaker 03

  One, one pillow, yeah.

• 55:53H. Foley?

  Ooh.

• 55:54Speaker 03

Yeah, one pillow. Why is this, is this, is this, is this not standard?

• 55:57H. Foley?

It tells a lot about people.

• 55:58Speaker 03

  Does it?

• 55:59H. Foley?

I sleep with two pillows on my head, I hug one and I have one to my legs.

• 56:02Speaker 03

  Oh, wow, okay.

• 56:03H. Foley?

  Somebody's got some issues.

• 56:04Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 56:04H. Foley?

  You know what I mean?

• 56:05Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 56:05H. Foley?

  One pillow?

• 56:06Speaker 01

A lot of joint pain he's dealing with over there.

• 56:08H. Foley?

  Very sharp.

• 56:09Speaker 03

Sometimes I'll put a pillow like on my arm, cause my, got shoulder back.

• 56:12H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 56:13Speaker 03

But yeah, no, I can only, if I, if I sleep too high up, it hurts my neck.

• 56:16H. Foley?

  Gotcha.

• 56:17Speaker 03

I gotta, ah, I've got just a Tempur-Pedic pillow that I love right now and it's the cooling one.

• 56:24Speaker 01

  Very nice.

• 56:25Speaker 03

So nice, it's, yeah, so nice.

• 56:29Speaker 01

Um, I got a few questions, you do travel a lot, obviously, you said you used to, you used to be a flight attendant?

• 56:34Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 56:34Speaker 01

How do you feel about taking your shoes off on the plane?

• 56:38Speaker 03

Everybody, everybody like scoffs at you.

• 56:42Speaker 01

You just do it anyway, you don't care.

• 56:45H. Foley?

If you're not up front, do you drop the seat back? If you're in the bulkhead?

• 56:50Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 56:51H. Foley?

  Yeah?

• 56:51Speaker 03

  I don't understand this. It's a system.

• 56:54Speaker 01

Also, who's gonna mess with it?

• 56:55H. Foley?

  I know.

• 56:56Speaker 03

But like, you, everybody just drops their seat back. Like, I drop my seat back, you drop your seat, then everybody's more comfortable.

• 57:03Speaker 01

If everybody does it, I, I understand, yeah. Except the last guy. The last guy's up against the bathroom, but that is his fault, he shouldn't have brought that.

• 57:09H. Foley?

  What if it's a long?

• 57:10Speaker 03

No, you can still, you still have a little room to go back.

• 57:12Speaker 01

  Not all the time.

• 57:13Speaker 03

But what airline are we talking about?

• 57:16Speaker 01

I don't know, I gotta be honest with you, I've been in the back of the plane in a long time, but I've done it on Delta.

• 57:20Speaker 03

The only place you cannot recline is the exit rows.

• 57:24Speaker 01

You gotta be ready to go. On the smaller plane, the last row goes right up on the bathroom. It does, yeah, yeah, yeah. I've had it. Not proud.

• 57:32H. Foley?

What if it's a long flight, it's around the mealtime, will you give a peek back, make sure the tray's not down, make sure they're not still whatever, or, no?

• 57:42Speaker 03

  You know?

• 57:43Speaker 01

  She does.

• 57:43Speaker 03

  I recline right away.

• 57:45H. Foley?

  Whoa.

• 57:45Speaker 03

  Bam, I'm going back.

• 57:46Speaker 01

  She does whatever she wants.

• 57:47Speaker 03

Bam, I'm going back. Really? No!

• 57:49Speaker 01

She just said she's held every belt but one.

• 57:51Speaker 03

No, do you know what? You're the problem.

• 57:54Speaker 01

  Yes, he is.

• 57:55H. Foley?

  I agree with that.

• 57:57Speaker 03

You recline. You have to recline. Everybody recline. Everybody recline. Let's all live in comfort. I don't care if somebody's reclining on me. You live in comfort, I'm reclining on them.

• 58:07H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 58:08Speaker 03

And we're all living in comfort. We're all living in comfort.

• 58:10H. Foley?

Yeah, I got real mad at an old man one time. I felt so bad. He was just trying to get some sleep.

• 58:15Speaker 03

Of course he was. You're the problem. You're the problem.

• 58:20Speaker 01

No one's ever got the show this much.

• 58:21Speaker 03

Nobody's stopping, nobody's stopping you from reclining. Nobody's stopping you from reclining.

• 58:26H. Foley?

  All right.

• 58:27Speaker 03

So why are you stopping him from reclining? What's your problem?

• 58:29H. Foley?

I can't sit back like that.

• 58:31Speaker 03

You can't sit back? That's comfort city. Comfort city.

• 58:36H. Foley?

  If something goes down.

• 58:38Speaker 03

What's gonna, like, the only time it's gonna go down is when you're taking off or landing. And so, taking off or landing, then it's open.

• 58:45Speaker 01

He thinks if he needs to restrain somebody, if there's a...

• 58:48H. Foley?

Something happens on the plane, I gotta step into action, I gotta be ready.

• 58:50Speaker 01

Listen, not if she's on the flight, all right? I don't need you. King Kong Bundy over here.

• 58:56H. Foley?

I start yelling at her, she stands up like, "Ah!"

• 58:58Speaker 03

  How often has that happened?

• 59:00Speaker 01

  Never.

• 59:01Speaker 03

  Exactly.

• 59:02H. Foley?

  Of course.

• 59:03Speaker 01

  Um, okay.

• 59:04H. Foley?

Will you bring food on the plane? How do you feel about that?

• 59:07Speaker 03

  Oh, yes.

• 59:08Speaker 01

Like, will you... Food from home? Or like, will you buy like a banana? Or will you get like, will you stop it, get a Whopper and take that on the plane?

• 59:16Speaker 03

  Oh, no. Well, like...

• 59:17Speaker 01

  Like a dry food.

• 59:18H. Foley?

  A tuna fish sandwich.

• 59:19Speaker 03

No, God, Jesus, no. No, but like, yeah, like, I'd get, no, nothing, nothing stinky.

• 59:24Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 59:25Speaker 03

  Nothing stinky.

• 59:26H. Foley?

How do you feel about a tuna fish sandwich, by the way?

• 59:27Speaker 03

Oh my, I've never eaten fish in my life.

• 59:30H. Foley?

  Whoa.

• 59:31Speaker 01

So she doesn't like mayo, too. We mentioned mayo in the, in the, in the, in the, kind of the rundown while we were sitting here.

• 59:36Speaker 03

Never eaten fish in my life.

• 59:37Speaker 01

  And she said disgusting.

• 59:38Speaker 03

  Yeah, disgusting.

• 59:39Speaker 01

  Disgusting.

• 59:40Speaker 03

  Disgusting. Okay, all right.

• 59:42H. Foley?

Give us a few more of those proclivities of food that you stay with from.

• 59:44Speaker 03

Well, look, whoever, whoever says this sentence, right? Like, tell me how many times you've heard this sentence. Mmm, smells like fish.

• 59:52Speaker 01

  That's true.

• 59:53Speaker 03

When? When does anybody go, "Mmm"?

• 59:55H. Foley?

I said it three times this morning on the way here.

• 59:58Speaker 03

  Yummy.

• 59:59H. Foley?

  Really?

• 59:59Speaker 03

Nobody says yum. Smells like fish. Disgusting.

• 1:00:03H. Foley?

And if, and if like a nice, wait, so when I smell fish and chips cooking, I don't, I don't, I don't say that smells great?

• 1:00:08Speaker 03

Well, yeah, but it's just chips. It's the odor.

• 1:00:10Speaker 01

It's also fried, yeah. You're not...

• 1:00:11Speaker 03

It's the fragrance of the, you're not smelling the fish.

• 1:00:14H. Foley?

You're like, you don't like a nice salmon? You smell the salmon on the grill?

• 1:00:18Speaker 03

  Disgusting, disgusting.

• 1:00:19H. Foley?

You don't like salmon? All that protein? I know the hubby's eating salmon.

• 1:00:23Speaker 01

I love how you're criticizing her eating things. Like, "Oh, all that protein"?

• 1:00:26H. Foley?

I don't know what the hell you're doing.

• 1:00:28Speaker 03

Yeah, well, yeah, like, you know, I know, it's all good for you and all that stuff.

• 1:00:32Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:00:33H. Foley?

  No, it's not that.

• 1:00:33Speaker 03

And like, and like, the, like, the, it looks like, the texture, ugh.

• 1:00:37Speaker 01

  I, I understand.

• 1:00:39H. Foley?

  Hold on, oysters?

• 1:00:40Speaker 03

I've never, never, I've never, never.

• 1:00:43H. Foley?

  Really?

• 1:00:44Speaker 01

Did your family, were your, was your family, would they do it? Like, your dad and stuff? Yeah, yeah, okay.

• 1:00:48Speaker 03

  Yeah, they eat fish.

• 1:00:50H. Foley?

How do you get your steak cooked?

• 1:00:52Speaker 03

Well, like, I always say this to the waiter, I say, "I want the chef to be disgusted with himself." "I want him to be so offended."

• 1:01:03H. Foley?

  You are trash.

• 1:01:04Speaker 03

"I want him to be so offended." That's one, it's so great. Went to this real fancy place for my husband's birthday, and I got like, I got like a little extra on the tasting menu, and it was like this wagyu, and...

• 1:01:15Speaker 01

You had him, you had him kill the wagyu.

• 1:01:17Speaker 03

I said, "Please, just burn that wagyu." And it was, I was, I was in heaven.

• 1:01:22Speaker 01

  Good for you!

• 1:01:23Speaker 03

I was like, "This is amazing, this is how I like it."

• 1:01:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:01:25Speaker 03

"This is how it should be." "I don't want to know that I'm eating a poor little moo cow." You know what I mean? I want to, like, maybe I'm eating cardboard. Charred cardboard, mm, yummy, charred cardboard. I'd much prefer that.

• 1:01:39H. Foley?

  Alright.

• 1:01:41Speaker 01

  I mean, you know.

• 1:01:44Speaker 03

What else you got for me?

• 1:01:45Speaker 01

  I mean, listen, you...

• 1:01:46Speaker 03

What else, what else you got?

• 1:01:47Speaker 01

You, very rarely have someone come in, I was like, "I don't know how much, you know..." The beginning of the story, and then as the big man said, "The second we hit Orlando, we took a hard route."

• 1:02:00H. Foley?

Did you ever get the root canal finished?

• 1:02:01Speaker 03

I did, I did, I did. I got one removed, too. Well, so what happened was, I went in...

• 1:02:06H. Foley?

Are you missing a tooth in the back?

• 1:02:08Speaker 03

I am missing a tooth in the back.

• 1:02:09H. Foley?

Wait, did you get it replaced, or it's still missing?

• 1:02:11Speaker 03

I went to the place to get it redone, and then I went back to work, and then, one day, I mean, it's been, I'm actually missing two.

• 1:02:18Speaker 01

But you're a wrestler, I'll give, that's an occupational hazard, I'll give you that.

• 1:02:22Speaker 03

  One happened, actually, in New...

• 1:02:23H. Foley?

She's also an incredibly successful person, with the means, I love it.

• 1:02:27Speaker 03

Oh, look, yeah, but then you gotta, yeah, but yeah, but you gotta go on there, so what happened? One of them, one of them was, I was, I moved to New York, and I was 23, and I, I, I like came over, I had like two grand in my bank account, and I was like, "That'll do me the summer."

• 1:02:43Speaker 01

That'll get you out of a weekend.

• 1:02:45Speaker 03

Didn't last me two days, and I was living in a hostel up at Olympic Circle, you know, a little hostel in there, like four...

• 1:02:54Speaker 01

  Where's Olympic Circle?

• 1:02:55H. Foley?

  Olympic Circle.

• 1:02:55Speaker 03

  Is that, that's like...

• 1:02:57Speaker 01

  Columbus Circle.

• 1:02:57Speaker 03

Columbus Circle, Columbus Circle, sorry, sorry, Columbus Circle, and...

• 1:03:01Speaker 01

  For how long?

• 1:03:03Speaker 03

  A couple of days.

• 1:03:03H. Foley?

  Okay.

• 1:03:04Speaker 03

So then I went down to.

• 1:03:05Speaker 01

  Just out of cash.

• 1:03:06Speaker 03

Yeah, then there was a little bar in New York called Shades of Green, you know.

• 1:03:11H. Foley?

  Sure, of course.

• 1:03:12Speaker 03

Yeah, Fourteenth Street. So I went in there and I was looking for a job and I was like, lads, do you have a job? And they were like, no. And then I was like, ah shit. And they were like, well, do you want to stay and have a drink? I was like, yeah, yeah, hit me, give me, give me a drink. And so then anyway, like got talking to the owner of the bar and they were like, well, where are you staying? I was like, I'm up in this hostel. And they were like, well, how much does that cost you? I was like, thirty five dollars a night. And they were like, well, you know, look, we've got a room upstairs and maybe you want to stay there, you know, for, for.

• 1:03:38H. Foley?

These are Irish fellows, I see.

• 1:03:39Speaker 03

  These are Irish fellows.

• 1:03:40H. Foley?

You guys stick together when you get over here. You really, you guys are thick as thieves. I worked at a, at a, at a bar on the Upper East Side when I lived up here the first time when I was younger. Man, the Irish network in the restaurant bar scene, forget about it.

• 1:03:51Speaker 03

  Incredible.

• 1:03:52H. Foley?

It's like the Underground Railroad, everybody's.

• 1:03:54Speaker 03

It is, it is, it's lovely, a little community. And, and they were like, yeah, you can go stay up there. And so I stayed up and it was just like literally a tiny, about the size of this table with just a little bed and a sink. And then like down the hall. And then there was like these, I think they were like, they were like, maybe rug addicts, I'm not sure, living right next to me.

• 1:04:15H. Foley?

  Say all the above, yeah?

• 1:04:15Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:04:16H. Foley?

I don't think they discriminated, they're living above a bar.

• 1:04:19Speaker 03

Yeah, but they, and they had like a little rent control room, I think that was the same. And we all shared a shower.

• 1:04:25H. Foley?

  No way.

• 1:04:26Speaker 03

You know, but they would come back like all hours in the morning, just like all out of it.

• 1:04:32H. Foley?

  Mm hmm.

• 1:04:33Speaker 03

Fights and everything. But anyway, so then one day I was living there and I got this real bad tooth pain and like couldn't sleep. And then there was a dentist right next to it and they were like, ah, look, we're gonna have to either root canal it or take it out. And didn't have any money, so out of the comms. And so then that one.

• 1:04:52H. Foley?

  Did the same thing.

• 1:04:53Speaker 03

And so then that one was gone. And so that, and now that it's, my teeth have like grown too close together.

• 1:04:58H. Foley?

  Sure.

• 1:04:58Speaker 03

But then when I was in Orlando.

• 1:05:02Speaker 01

It all comes back to Orlando.

• 1:05:03Speaker 03

Orlando, I had this tooth pain that was coming from the top of my mouth. And they were like, oh, I think it's coming from the bottom of your mouth. Will we root canal or take it out? And again, I didn't have much money, so alright, I guess we're getting rid of two. So they yanked it. And then it was coming from the top of my mouth. And then, and then I was like, well, I can't be missing three teeth. I can't be missing three teeth. Two's the limit. So then I, so then I got the root canal, had to borrow money from my ma, thank God she lent it to me. And then my car blew up. Oh, it was a whole disaster. And like, this was like, this was four months into moving over here. I was like, oh, the American dream.

• 1:05:42H. Foley?

  Man.

• 1:05:43Speaker 03

  I'm living it.

• 1:05:44Speaker 01

I love looking at you now. Love to see you.

• 1:05:46Speaker 03

Looking at now, I still haven't got my tooth. I will, I will, I will, I will, I will.

• 1:05:49Speaker 01

  One day. When you retire.

• 1:05:50Speaker 03

I will. Well, like, look, who's got the time? And then, you know, I went, I went, I went not too long ago. I went to, and he was explaining, you know, and then whether you do it when you're awake, they put you under.

• 1:06:01Speaker 01

  Sure. I get it.

• 1:06:03Speaker 03

And I was like, I can be brave. I can be brave. And then I never went back. I need to go back.

• 1:06:08Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 1:06:08Speaker 03

  Cause I can be brave.

• 1:06:09Speaker 01

Listen, I have all the information I need to render. I think I rendered my judgment at about like 24 minutes in. Uh, you're a 100% trash. And I love it. It's fantastic.

• 1:06:19H. Foley?

One of the, one of the best to ever do it. Superstar.

• 1:06:23Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:06:24H. Foley?

World champ, intercontinental champ. 100% trash.

• 1:06:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:06:27H. Foley?

Let's go. I love it. Unbelievable.

• 1:06:30Speaker 03

Do you get priced for this?

• 1:06:31Speaker 01

We don't have a belt. It's being made at the moment.

• 1:06:34H. Foley?

We're gonna get your root canal.

• 1:06:35Speaker 01

  Yeah. We'll finally get that.

• 1:06:38Speaker 03

They're expensive, so please thank you.

• 1:06:41H. Foley?

  Yeah, it's crazy.

• 1:06:41Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 1:06:42H. Foley?

And they say they're not that great for you, cause they always end up falling out.

• 1:06:45Speaker 03

Well, yeah, like, there was, and there was that whole thing about the root canal, but I think that's, I think that's a lie.

• 1:06:50Speaker 01

  Conspiracy.

• 1:06:51Speaker 03

  Yeah, I think that's, yeah, yeah, that's a lie.

• 1:06:52H. Foley?

  100% trash, Becky Lynch.

• 1:06:55Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:06:56H. Foley?

  Give it up for her.

• 1:06:57Speaker 01

  One more time.

• 1:06:57H. Foley?

WWE superstar, intercontinental champ, one of the best to ever do it.

• 1:07:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:07:04H. Foley?

And just another quick reminder, SummerSlam, first time, two night event.

• 1:07:07Speaker 01

  Big, huge.

• 1:07:08H. Foley?

MetLife Stadium, a monster. What's that gonna be in a few years? That'll be like a week probably. It'll be like a festival.

• 1:07:14Speaker 01

I mean, probably 900,000 people be going to that thing.

• 1:07:17H. Foley?

  It's insane.

• 1:07:18Speaker 01

  MetLife Stadium ain't small.

• 1:07:19Speaker 03

Last time I was there is the main event. Yeah, main event of WrestleMania. Yeah, WrestleMania 35.

• 1:07:25H. Foley?

  That's right.

• 1:07:26Speaker 03

  That was the last time.

• 1:07:27H. Foley?

  Yeah, very interesting.

• 1:07:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:07:29H. Foley?

I love it. Very cool. If you're not there, streaming on Peacock, what a fun one.

• 1:07:34Speaker 01

Yeah, so much fun. Thank you so much. We appreciate it.

• 1:07:36H. Foley?

  Congratulations on everything.

• 1:07:37Speaker 03

  Thank you, I appreciate it.

• 1:07:39H. Foley?

Becky Lynch, 100% garbage, everybody. Look at that.

• 1:07:41Speaker 01

  There you have it.

• 1:07:42H. Foley?

We love you. Kippee, what do you got for us?

• 1:07:43Speaker 01

Uh, guys, we're on the road in the fall. In the winter, get your tickets. Tickets, shows are selling out. Want to see you out there? Love yous, mean it.

• 1:07:49H. Foley?

Gang, we love you. Becky, we love you.

• 1:07:50Speaker 01

  Thanks so much.

• 1:07:51H. Foley?

Thank you so much. We'll see you guys next week. Peace.
