What I Do Every Day As A Multi-Million Dollar Business Owner (Real Schedule And Tools)

There are so many productivity tips out there, and most of them are useless. They promise more but leave you busier, poorer, and burnt out. Omar is running a multimillion dollar business while working fewer hours, taking real weekends off, and still having time to play. How is he doing it? Let’s take a peek into his real schedule and the tools that make it possible. In this Q&A Wednesday episode, Omar answers a question from Ben, who wanted to know exactly how he structures his days while leading a thriving company. Omar pulls back the curtain on his real schedule and shares the simple three step system that cuts out the majority of busywork, explains why focusing on one main goal changes everything, and shows the tools that make each day count. Along the way, he reveals how discipline and this system work together to keep his business growing, his weekends free, and his time balanced between work and play. If you want fewer hours, real weekends, and a business that keeps growing, press play at the top of this page and learn Omar’s exact system. Today's episode is supported by Cash App. When it comes to Bitcoin, you may be surprised to learn that it was invented way back in 2008. But you still haven't made the jump to Bitcoin yet? Cash App makes it easy. When you buy Bitcoin on Cash App, they hold real Bitcoin for you, one to one, and you can withdraw it anytime. Most productivity advice is absolute garbage. It's actually making you poor and more burnt out than ever. I run a multimillion-dollar business while working four to six hours a day and still have real weekends with time off to play basketball and poker. And it's not just because I'm super disciplined. It's because I follow a dead simple three-step system that deletes 80% of your work. I'm going to show you that exact system, as well as my exact schedule, that makes it all possible. If you follow these three easy steps, it's impossible to screw up. Step one and step two alone will change your life today, and step three makes work and life fun again. And of course, before the end of the episode, as promised, I'll share my real schedule, today's schedule, before the end of the episode.

By the way, this episode comes from a question from Ben, a listener of the show. If you want to ask a question for me to answer right here on the podcast, just go to 100mba.net q.

Welcome back to the $100 MBA Show. I'm your host, Omar Zenhome, where I deliver practical business lessons three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, to help you start, grow, and scale your business.

• 2:44Speaker 00

If this show has helped in any way, it would be amazing if you could drop us a quick review on whatever app you're using to listen to this podcast right now. It helps me and my team bring new episodes every week, and more importantly, more entrepreneurs will be able to discover our podcast, so you can help someone else start their journey. Thanks so much. Step one: Decide what's actually important. My friend Noah Kagan was employee number 30 at Facebook, and he said to me that Mark Zuckerberg made it clear to everybody in the company that Facebook only has one goal, and that goal was user growth, not time spent on Facebook or user engagement, not even revenue. More users. That's it. You need

• 3:25Speaker 00

to choose what the one goal you have for your business that will drive everything for you. Just one. This is going to change your life immediately. Choosing what's most important and focusing just on that will free you up big time. It'll free your time immediately and allow you to work smarter and not harder. What I found is that when I dropped those other small goals that I was working hard and going after, something absolutely crazy happened. The business grew immediately. Those other little things were actually not just a waste of time, but they were dragging me down and burning me out. Let's play a game. If your business was a sport, what is the one thing that would

• 4:07Speaker 00

result in you winning? For example, in soccer, or what 3.5 billion people in the world call football, the goal is to kick the ball into the goal. Do that more than the other team, and you win. Very clear. Same with basketball. Put the ball in the hoop. That's how you win. What needs to get done in your sport, in your business, so that you can win? Think about it. Really think about it. What is that one thing you need to do to win in your business? Answer that question and keep it in your head. You're going to need it for the rest of the episode. To give you an example, let me share my one goal and how by having it makes my day more productive. Our only goal at our media company, The Hundred Dollar MBA, is to increase

• 4:48Speaker 00

the number of unique people that interact with our content. Why is that our singular focus? Because we believe that that's the key that unlocks everything. The more people that see our content, the more likely they'll share it, the more likely they'll subscribe to our content, more likely they'll consume it again. That will then lead to more views, which will lead to more downloads, which will then lead to more revenue from partnerships and ads. So guess what is the only thing on my calendar every single day? Activities that help me achieve that one goal. Get more unique people to see my content. Here's the crazy thing that I found out when I started doing this. You can't really do a lot when

• 5:29Speaker 00

you only have one goal. My day really consists of doing only three types of activities. Number one, creating great content. For example, like recording this episode right now. This is an activity that's on my calendar. Reading books, so I can learn and be more valuable with my content. Researching my guests before I do an interview, so that the actual interview and the episode is great. So that's one category of the three categories of things I do to achieve my one goal. The second type of activities I do is share my work. These are things like going on other podcasts, speaking on stages, going to lunches and dinners and meeting new people, posting reels on Instagram, sharing my work, because there's the creating

• 6:13Speaker 00

of the work, but if you don't share, no one really knows about it. Whether that's online, whether that's in person, on stages, or at lunches, or dinners, or whatever it might be. The third type of activity that I do is recruiting and leading great people to help me achieve, you guessed it, my one goal. This is actually the highest leverage activity I can do. If I can do this most of my time, it's actually the best use of my time. When I add a talented person to my team, we move faster towards our goal. When I support them, when I help them grow, we grow. And you're gonna see all this in my calendar, by the way. These three types of work are the only things on my calendar. Everything else gets deleted. Now, you might be saying, Omar, what about accounting? What about finance? What about all the admin work?

• 6:58Speaker 00

Well, I don't want that on my plate because it doesn't really drive the goal. So I delegate that and I find people that can help me do that. That's why that third activity is so important, finding great talent. Now, when I first got started and I had no money, I couldn't delegate because I had to do it. But even so, I prioritized that one goal and that allowed me to make enough money to find people to delegate those tasks to. That was step one. Decide what's actually important and only focus on that one goal. Today's episode is supported by Rosetta Stone. I absolutely love Rosetta Stone because it's helping me learn Italian faster than I can ever imagine. Why do I want to learn Italian?

• 7:43Speaker 00

Well, who doesn't love Italy? But of course Nicole's family is Italian and I love to have some quick Italian conversations with her mom. And Rosetta Stone just came out with Rosetta Stone Sapphire, their biggest launch in over a decade. One of the coolest features is chat missions, which turns conversation practice into a game. With chat missions, you're put in interactive scenarios and given three objectives. A mission to accomplish, like asking how much something costs, ordering a cold brew coffee, or getting a wifi password. Along the way, you get real time corrections and feedback to help you sound more natural and confident. It's a supportive way to build confidence before putting your language skills to use in real life. I've been using Rosetta Stone for over two years and I actually can have some small Italian

• 8:28Speaker 00

conversations with Nicole's mom now. Just the other day, she asked me, when are you traveling? And I said dopo domani mattina, which means after tomorrow morning. She was incredibly impressed I was able to answer in Italian. How could you put a price tag on a happy mother-in-law? If you want to take your language skills to the next level, don't wait to try Rosetta Stone Sapphire. The $100 rate show listeners can get 20% off the Rosetta Stone Sapphire subscription when they sign up today. This gets you access to Rosetta Stone Sapphire in 25 languages. But for the person running that business, Square is a whole lot more than a way to get paid. Square brings the tools you need to run and grow your business together in one system.

• 9:13Speaker 00

From payments on appointments, to staff, inventory, sales, and customer relationships. Whether you're selling lattes, cutting hair, detailing cars, running a restaurant, or starting something new. Square keeps your business tools working together so you can focus less on managing the moving parts and more on what's next. And right now, listeners can get up to $200 off Square hardware when you sign up at square.com/go/mba. That's S-Q-U-A-R-E.com/go/mba. Visit Square to get started because running a business is complicated enough. Your tools don't have to be.

• 9:49Speaker 00

Step two. Everything I do in my life and in my business gets added to my calendar. Your time is the most valuable asset you have. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. So protecting it is everything. This is why I use my calendar religiously, right? I literally use Google Calendar to protect my time. Everything I want and need to do goes into the calendar. No exceptions. This is not only going to make you more productive, it's going to save your life, it's going to save your business, it's going to reduce your stress. I put everything in the calendar, from podcast recording, to lunch, to playing basketball on Wednesday nights with my rec team, to date night with Nicole. Everything. And you're going to see this for yourself.

• 10:34Speaker 00

I even put, if I have to call my mother and explain to her that she doesn't need to install that app, it's just an ad in your Sudoku game, right? That goes in the calendar. Because I know it's going to take me 30 minutes to an hour. But you might be thinking, Omar, what about free time? And just kicking back, sitting in the park, and just relaxing with a book? Yep, I do that, but it goes in the calendar. Listen, I see my minutes and my hours like dollars and cents. Again, it's worth more than dollars and cents, but stay with me for a moment. If I just keep spending money without any intention or plan, and just give it away to Anyone that walks up to me, you would say I'm crazy. You would say I'm reckless. But that's exactly what everyone's doing with their time. Someone says, hey, let's do something. And you're like, yeah, let's do it.

• 11:18Speaker 00

Because you didn't allocate your time to anything else. Was that the best use of your time? It could have been, but you don't know because you just gave it away. You didn't preempt and put in your calendar what you actually want to do and what you want to actually get done. What's going to give you joy? What's going to give you happiness? What's going to reduce your stress? What's going to give you, you know, joy and excitement in life? Another example is your inbox. If you spend a lot of time in your inbox, this is a super, super dangerous. Because your inbox is basically a list of other people's to do's outsourced to you. I force myself to spend only 20 minutes on email a day. You will immediately see in your inbox what is most important if you only have 20 minutes.

• 12:01Speaker 00

Right? I use a tool called Whisper Flow, which is a great AI app that lets you dictate any text. So it makes writing emails super fast. Or you can go completely ninja and outsource your inbox to an EA altogether. By the way, this episode's really hitting home and you are really enjoying it. You're going to really enjoy an episode that I'm working on coming up very soon called, "How to Impress Anyone As Soon as You Meet Them." Make sure you hit subscribe so you don't miss it. I'm really excited to share with you because it's really going to allow you to understand what are the psychological elements that you need to be aware of when you meet anybody for the first time, second time, third time. In that moment, they're making decisions and you want to make sure those decisions are in your favor. All right, that was step two. Put everything in the calendar.

• 12:45Speaker 00

If you don't manage your time, time will manage you. It'll boss you around. Step three, schedule something fun, something that you're looking forward to every 48 hours. This step is going to bring joy and love for life like you've never experienced before. It's so simple and yet it works so well. I learned this from a friend and fellow entrepreneur, Greg Hickman. Every 48 hours in your calendar, schedule something that you're looking forward to. Now, this could be something small. It could be something like going out for ice cream or going for a walk with a friend. The reason why the limit is every 48 hours is because the most who will be waiting for something that you're looking forward to is tomorrow. So for example, today's Monday as I'm recording this, Wednesday, I have a basketball game with my friends in a competitive rec league.

• 13:31Speaker 00

I'm looking forward to that. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Forty-eight hours later, on Friday, we're having dinner over Nicole's mom's house. She makes an incredible pasta. She's Italian. It's gonna be good food and I get to see my favorite cab, Bingley. Again, it could be something simple, or it could be something kind of special, like go into the theater. But right now, I want you to do an activity with me. I want you to right now, think of something you would look forward to and add it to your calendar no later than 48 hours from now. Make sure, it could be tomorrow, it could be today, it could be within 48 hours. The point here is that you want to just put it in the calendar so that it actually happens and you get into the habit of doing this. The reason why I love this is because it recognizes the fact that not every day in your business, in your life, is going to be exciting and fun.

• 14:14Speaker 00

You're gonna have to go through the grind sometimes. Some days are gonna be tough. Some days are gonna be stressful. I know, it's tough sometimes and I go through those days still. But by having something to look forward to every 48 hours, you know that there is something that is gonna come on the horizon that's a bit of a relief. That you have something that's gonna give you joy very soon. And it makes getting through those tough days a little easier. So as promised, this is what a typical day looks for me. This is what today actually looks like, okay? I woke up at 6:00 AM, slow breakfast, watched some basketball highlights on YouTube. 7:00 AM, I checked email, social media and YouTube comments for about 20 minutes and I replied if needed. From 7:20 to 8:00 AM, I completed work on an upcoming episode script that I was working on.

• 14:59Speaker 00

I passed it on to my team member who helps me tighten things up. So I did a bit of work for 40 minutes. Again, that work is aligned to my one goal. 8:00 AM to 9:30, I hit the gym, I walked to the gym, I worked out, I listened to an audiobook while I was in the gym. And then at 9:30 to 10:30, I went and got a haircut in the city, okay? 10:30 to 11:30, got back home, showered, shaved, got dressed for this recording session right now. 11:30 to 12:30, I had lunch, I relaxed, I played a little poker on the Playstation. And then from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, I recorded two podcast episodes. 2:00 PM, I had a team meeting with my team members. 2:30, I had a founders meeting. Me and Nicole have a founder meeting once a week on Monday.

• 15:43Speaker 00

And that was a chance for us to make sure that we're on the same page. 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, I do like my weekly planning and thinking session is about an hour where I just plan out the whole week. I make sure I know what I'm doing every day so that I can just go into execution mode for the rest of the week. 5:00 PM, it's just a free hour to read and relax in the calendar. Because if it doesn't get in the calendar, I'll just continue to work, okay? 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, I have dinner. 7:00 to 9:30, Nicole and I usually go for a walk or watch a movie. Today, we're gonna watch a movie. On our list is City of God, which is on Netflix. It's a Brazilian film we're looking forward to. And 9:30, go to bed. So as you could see, yes, I'm working on my one goal. But I also have a bit of a life, right?

• 16:27Speaker 00

I work on my health, I work on my fitness, I work on my relationship. I enjoy good film, you know, I have three meals. I don't rush my meals. I make sure that that is something that I enjoy. Before I go, I want to leave you with this. What I learned the hard way is that productivity is not about doing more. It's actually about doing less. It's about focusing on what's actually important. And making sure that you choose the right thing that's important. So that when that thing goes right, when I do things that contribute to that goal, everything follows. Everything goes right. Everything goes my way. Everything allows me to get the things I want to get out of my efforts. By the way, you can apply this one goal strategy in all parts of your life. Your relationships, your health, your wellness, whatever it might be.
