Small business owners, listen up. You started your business, but you can't do it alone. And that means you have to hire people to help. That's where Justworks comes in. Justworks is the payroll, benefits, and global hiring platform to unburden your brain from all the complicated small business stuff. They handle the things you can't afford to get wrong, so you don't have to worry. So you can focus on the parts of running a business that you enjoy, knowing everything else is running smoothly. You don't have to worry when it just works. Ever invest in something that seemed incredible at first, but didn't live up to the hype? For example, I really wanted to love the show Mad Men. I really tried to watch it and love it, but it just didn't do anything for me. As a marketer and business person, the show was a little bit of a disappointment.

• 0:45Speaker 00

Marketers know that feeling. They optimize for the numbers that look great, like impressions. But then we don't see revenue. LinkedIn has a word for that: bullspend. Instead, you can get the highest ROAS of major ad networks with LinkedIn Ads. Cut the bullspend, advertise on LinkedIn. Spend $250 and get a $250 credit. Go to LinkedIn.com/MBAShow. Terms apply. Today on the podcast, I sit down with Philippe Nardi, the founder of the Inside the Show program. It teaches you to transform your online sessions into unique, magical, audience experiences.

• 1:29Speaker 00

Welcome back to the $100 MBA Show. I'm your host, Omar Zenhome, where I deliver practical business lessons three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, to help you start, grow, and scale your business. It's hard to put into words how amazing Philippe's presentations are online. These are not old-fashioned, boring meetings, or webinars, or workshops. These look like they are done in post-production. Like, it's live, but it looks so polished. It's incredible. Philippe came across my radar about 18 months ago. And when I saw him do a workshop online, I was totally sold, because I- Been doing a lot of webinar. I did 500 webinars in my course of my career of running webinar ninja.

• 2:14Speaker 00

And I never saw somebody do an online presentation live that looked so good. It looked literally like magic online. So for the past 18 months, I've been chasing Philippe as a student of his program to get him here on the podcast to teach you what his Inside the Show program is all about, what he teaches, why his presentations are so magical, all that kinds of stuff. So we're going to show a live demo of this magical experience of his presentation. So you can know what we're talking about at the end of this conversation. So if you're listening to this podcast, then you may want to go to YouTube and check this out later. Just go to 100mba.net/youtube so you can see this magic in action.

• 2:58Speaker 00

Philippe is a dynamic person. He is an engineer. He's a designer. He's a teacher. He's also an amateur magician, and that's kind of how the Inside the Show program started. Because he knew a lot of people in the magic world and they reached out to him knowing that he's an engineer during the pandemic. They were like, hey, I need to do magic shows and they need to look as magical as they do in real life. How do I do this on Zoom? And with his wizardry, he was able to help these magicians. I mean, if this is good enough for sleight of hand and magicians that are using props and cards and all kinds of stuff while managing their screen and managing the presentation, then you know it's good enough for a sales webinar. I was so impressed by Philippe and his program and his presentation that I signed up.

• 3:43Speaker 00

And I took the program, I went through the training and I actually presented and used his techniques and his way of presenting in my latest launch, Own Your Job. And it was a three day event and we got incredible feedback about how amazing it is. The first thing that people ask is, is this live? This seems so polished and so well done and the animations and the effects and everything is incredible. And the next question I asked is, how are you doing this? So this is why I'm doing this episode, to explain how we do this, what this is all about, why this is so important, how this can really earn a lot of trust and credibility in your sales funnel, in your business, in your marketing, in everything. The other thing I want to mention is that it's really loud and crowded online. If you want to stand out, this is a great way to stand out because you're going to look so

• 4:28Speaker 00

much better with your presentations, your webinars, your workshops, your coaching, using the Inside the Show methods and technology. Philippe is also from Brazil. He's a non-native English speaker, and yet he still is out there presenting, teaching, not worrying about his accent or anything like that. He's owning it. I love that about him. I love the fact that he's showing people that anybody can do this, regardless if their English is perfect or not, or whatever it might be. So I got to give it up for him, and we talk about that in the conversation. This is not a sponsored episode. I'm not an affiliate of any sort. I'm just a fan of Philippe and his work and the Inside the Show program that I had to share it with you. So if you want to learn more, you can check out inside the dot show is the website.

• 5:12Speaker 00

So without further ado, let's jump into that conversation with Philippe Nardi.

• 5:17Speaker 00

Philippe, great to have you on the podcast.

• 5:20Speaker 01

Hey, how's it going? Thank you so much for inviting me.

• 5:22Speaker 00

Yeah, it's lovely to have this chat. We've been working with each other from afar. I've been part of your program, so I'm really excited to share your story, but also share your perspective on online presentations. So one of the things I want to start with is one of the things you do is reword this idea of online presentations, and you call them online or virtual experiences instead of like, I show you how to run a better webinar or something. Tell me a little bit about why do you call it experiences? And what does that mean for somebody who wants to level up their presentations online?

• 5:57Speaker 01

I think nowadays, we go to meetings every single day, and we are really tired of them. So when you hear about training online, usually what you think it's like something like a meeting. It's boring, it's dragging, and you want to hear the subjects that interest you. So you have to make an effort to connect with the presenter, the session, and pay attention. But if this same thing was an all-day in-person summit, it suddenly becomes something very exciting. Oh, I'm going to travel. I'm going to spend. All day with them. So why does an hour, the perspective of an hour online is more dreading than going to an in-person event for eight hours?

• 6:40Speaker 01

And the reason is because it's the same thing and we are doing it every single time. So I'm shifting away from looking at online presentations as meetings. And I'm looking at the next experience, how they can be something that could not be lived otherwise, but live.

• 6:58Speaker 00

Yeah, and we're teasing everybody a little bit here, but we're going to be showing what you're talking about towards the end of this conversation. But I have joined your program. I have implemented what you teach. I use the software that you recommend. And anytime I run a presentation online, when I run a live launch, when I'm doing workshops and I'm using your techniques and using what you teach. The first thing that people say in the chat is, is this live or is it recorded? It looks so good. It seems like it's in post-production. It looks like all these graphics and all these elements are happening not live. Cause I've never seen somebody do this live. I remember the first time I saw you present online, it was Taki Moore's group.

• 7:38Speaker 00

And I thought, this is like something new. This is like very a magical experience. It's not like the actual presentation itself has value. So I want to ask you, where did this idea come from to really level up the online presentation world? Because you haven't been doing this for very long. It's been a few years, but I think you quickly have grown and people have paid attention very quickly.

• 8:01Speaker 01

Yeah, there has been five years so far, and this is exactly what happens. People go through the presentations that we do and they say, how did this happening? And sometimes they even say, is this live? This is a problem from me, actually, when I'm doing presentation masterclass that I teach people how to do these things. And I invite them to join the program. They just pan in the chat. This is recorded. This is not live. And I, we usually now expect when this happened, I have someone on my team just ping the message for me and I can bring it up on screen. And I can say, hey, John, you're thinking this is not live, so I'm talking to you right now. This is live. Or I always have a part of my presentation that I know. To expect someone is gonna say that it's not live.

• 8:43Speaker 01

But the idea, it comes from magic, really, magical world. Since I was a kid, I was always passionate about magic and I grew up learning magic tricks. And then it went a little bit off and in my life, I became a designer, then I became an engineer. And later, a little bit before the pandemic, I started diving to the world of magic again. And I learned some very professional communities of people doing magic. So I started using my skills as a designer, as an engineer, to call, to create what they call magic tricks. Actually, they call it effects. You cannot call them magic tricks. They call it magic effects. So I started creating magic effects and it started growing very quickly.

• 9:27Speaker 01

And I had some of the most popular and famous magicians in the world using it. And then the pandemic came. And when it came, all these people were doing the effects that I was creating in in-person events, going every day out and about, and suddenly they couldn't go out anymore. So I started seeing quickly magicians go online and started doing magic shows. So I was excited and I saw this YouTube clip of magicians with Dan in the middle and then people around the magician. And then the magicians quickly switch between the spectator, interact with them, then they are back to the audience. So it's something super interactive and magical. And when I went to it, it was nothing like that. It was really boring. It was like a meeting with a magician.

• 10:10Speaker 01

And here's the thing about magic, it's either it has to be impactful or it's lame. And I knew what these people were capable of doing. They were able to go online with you, have a library, like a little shelf behind you and tell, pick a book in the shelf right now and get another spectator. So tell me a number from one to a hundred. Okay, so Omar, open this book at this page. First word, look at it and look at me.

• 10:36Speaker 01

So the book is yours. You didn't show anyone and they will tell what word you were looking at.

• 10:42Speaker 00

  Hmm.

• 10:43Speaker 01

This is the kind of thing that they can do, but it was really terrible on Zoom because you would bring a spectator. Oh, you have to unmute yourself or do the entire, the entire show and people will look at the audience, not a magician. Or even worse, like you're doing a trick, you're showing something, then someone coughs and it covers the screen because the speaker goes in front of them. Covers magician, then you go back to magician is like the thing has disappeared, but you didn't see anything. It was really terrible and this inspired me to, okay, I have to do something about it. I have been helping these magicians. I, I, I think I can help them create a magic experience online as well. So this is where it started.

• 11:20Speaker 00

I love this origin story because you're taking a seamlessly kind of like a, an unknown or a unrelated world. Magicians and illusionists and things like that. And bringing it to online business, people that are trying to create more engaging sales webinars or trying to create more engaging presentations or coaching sessions. And I love this idea because by doing this, you're kind of leveling up. You're kind of doing something different. You're doing something that's higher level than what everybody else is doing in our world. You know, I've been doing online business for over 15 years. I ran a software company, which was called Webinar Ninja. So I ran over 500 webinars. I've seen a lot of webinars, you know, over a million webinars were hosted on Webinar Ninja.

• 12:03Speaker 00

So when I saw what you are doing, my first thought was how can you, first of all, explain to people the value of what you're offering? In a way that they understand that this actually is going to convert into sales. This is actually going to convert into more customers or retention, keeping your coaching clients. So when somebody asks you, okay, I love what you're, I'm seeing, this is great. It's brilliant. It's entertaining. It looks fantastic, but what does it mean for my bottom line? What would you say to somebody who's listening to this and saying, okay, this sounds interesting, but is it actually going to convert to dollars?

• 12:36Speaker 01

I have never heard that question.

• 12:40Speaker 01

Because people, when they see like, they are immediately wow. There is this effect and the main objection that I have is actually not if this is going to bring value, but is it going to be so hard that I cannot do it? That's the main.

• 12:55Speaker 00

  The technical point of view.

• 12:56Speaker 01

  They ask me, yeah.

• 12:58Speaker 00

Yeah, and how do you overcome that hurdle when somebody says, okay, this looks amazing, but I'm not a tech person?

• 13:04Speaker 01

What I tell them and what we have built the Inside the Show program around is this was made for magicians. They are not tech savvy. They are one person and they are handling magic effects and tricks in their hands at the same time they are producing shows. I was able, we were able to get them to do amazing shows while running magic cards and doing, using props and managing everything by themselves. And they were not tech savvy. So since then, we have built the program around for people that are not tech savvy because we know that the, I'm a tech person and I, I don't think there is value in only having tech person, people. I don't think there is value in only having tech people in the program.

• 13:48Speaker 01

I think there is so many talent that's not necessarily tech savvy. So we have built it in a way that allows anyone really to get up and running fast. Because usually when you are learning these things, you have to learn how to set up everything, how to do every single thing. So when you go for tutorials online and they, they are teaching you how to configure everything from scratch and this is something that I don't do. I don't teach a software. I teach you how to go online and make an impact. So I paved the path to make it so easy that anyone can do. And we have people ranging from, I think the youngest one is 18 to 80 years old. And these are people that are from all different ages and they, they are using Inside the Show.

• 14:31Speaker 01

They're presenting in that way every week, every day.

• 14:35Speaker 00

Yeah, and just to go back to my original question about how does this convert into dollars or sales? I'll just share my own experience. I ran it with my three day launch. I was using your techniques, all the things that you share in Inside the Show. And just, just to give you people a picture before we How to go live and show you, you know, there's a lot of interaction happening, meaning that there's live on-screen polls, there's a way for me to celebrate, for me to give shout-outs, people's comments are printing on the screen. I have slides behind me, vertical slides, and I'm able to kind of go in and out and talk to people and be able to present the slides without like kind of overhauling my whole screen, so I just show slides and I'm gone, I lose the connection. One of the things that you talk about in your program is flow and how you got to keep the flow going so you don't lose your crowd.

• 15:20Speaker 00

I believe all of that increases your perceived value. A lot of people just feel like, okay, this is trustworthy. I could trust this person because it looks really polished, it looks really professional. This person actually made an effort and then just phoning in with like just popping on Zoom and winging it. So many people are just kind of doing a half-assed job, which is kind of sad. And we got testimonials for the free webinar, not even the product. People were just like, this is amazing, I've never seen anything like this, this is so professional. I would attend any of his trainings. So from my perspective, I feel like if you're trying to quickly earn trust with your audience and quickly get them to the point where they're ready to buy, this is a good way to do it

• 16:02Speaker 00

because automatically differentiate yourself when they hit like, one of the things that really surprised me, because I've done a lot of webinars, is the retention rate. How long people are staying on and not dropping off because they're really engaged by the whole experience of the presentation. So I just want to kind of tip my hat and say that, you know, when it comes to that. I would say that definitely you're adding a lot of value in terms of earning trust with your audience. And if you're looking to really level up your trust and close the sale quickly, it's a very fast way to kind of earn as much trust as possible because people are going to be seeing you as a credible source of information. So I want to tip my hat and say thank you for that.

• 16:39Speaker 01

  That's awesome, that's awesome.

• 16:41Speaker 00

There is something in terms of rotation that I also see on my sessions. Something that I always expect when I'm doing these master classes is that an hour before, I will have like 50 people in the waiting room, like an hour before, just waiting for it to start. Then at the end, we have like, it's constant. People, very few people drop the call. And we usually, the last one, we get 700 people live and we stayed. We ended it with 600 or something. Then we ran the pre-show, which is something that we do, like a little ending for the session with our logo, a little music, and just something to end the session. And there is nothing like, this is over, it's done. This is for people to drop off. And I think 50% of people stay until the very minute that I turn up the call.

• 18:58Speaker 01

So even the very, very end. Because it's all interesting, seeing what's happening, how this is all happening.

• 19:03Speaker 00

I know. I mean, I think people are really even impressed, even before we get started, because you have this thing called the pre-show, where you have a screen and music, and people see their faces flying in. It's pretty cool. Yeah, I think that definitely when we show the crowd the demo, they're going to really love it. I just want to be fully trained. Transparent here. I reached out to you because I think that you'd benefit and help my audience with, just like you helped me. This is not like a paid promotion, or I'm not even an affiliate or anything like that. I just think that when there's good work, this should be shared. And I don't want to just keep it to myself. So I just want to make sure that people know this upfront. One of the things I want to get into is a lot of our audience members, a lot of people that I teach at the $100 MBA, their English is not their first language.

• 19:43Speaker 00

English is their second, maybe even third language. You're from Brazil, and you present, you teach, all your, your whole program is in English. You're, you know, you're not a native speaker. A lot of the people that I work with are non-native speakers. They're a little bit tentative. They're a little bit self-conscious, and they don't want to put their work out there in English because they feel like, you know, it's not polished. You know, people might criticize my accent, or maybe my vocabulary, or whatever it might be. What advice would you give somebody who is, got good work, but is holding themselves back because they're not a native English speaker?

• 20:15Speaker 01

What gave me confidence, and this is not even something that I think a lot, to be honest, when I started doing content and putting myself out there. The, the language itself, I was more worried about my image. I work it with remotely for companies for over 10 years, and this has been like 10 years speaking every day. And when, when I started, my English was really, really bad. And I started working with a French company, so they have a lot of accents. So it was very challenging for me to understand. And there was a Ukrainian that I couldn't understand anything. So I didn't have my skills, or my listening skills, developed yet. But it was like, I just threw myself out there, and I started doing what I need to do in practice,

• 20:58Speaker 01

and really immerse myself. So I said everything in English, and I, I went to calls and meetings, and I spoke. And I think it's practice that will give you confidence. Confidence is like the knowing you're able to do something after doing it over, over and over. So today for me, really, I noticed something that I got to a level that people started saying, okay, so you have an accent. When I thought that, I wasn't already speaking well. And, and then I started working on my accent. And I I've gotta be honest, this is really hard. I've tried doing coaching classes, private coaching classes, but there's a lot of memorization and muscle memory that was developed. So at the end of the day, what is most important is are they understanding you?

• 21:43Speaker 01

It's not your accent. If they are able to understand you, what you're saying, even with the accent, then I think this shouldn't be a barrier. You should go, like you should not be worried about accent. And if you really want to, you can develop it on the way, but not make it stop you.

• 22:00Speaker 00

Yeah, I actually think it's a great differentiator. I think it's a way to stand out, some way to be remembered. A lot of people kind of blend in because they all sound the same. So I think that if there's anything different about you, I think you should just own it. You know, one of the things that I talk about a lot is that like, if you Google my name Omar Zenhome, because it's so different and so unique, because you know, my parents are Egyptian and migrated to the US. There's not a lot of Omar Zenhomes online and putting themselves out there. So I'm like 20 pages deep on Google. But somebody like a friend of mine, Justin Jackson, for example, shout out to Justin, who runs a great company over transistor.fm. If you Google his name, there's like athletes and actors and all these other people named Justin Jackson.

• 22:44Speaker 00

It's so hard for him to get known on Google or to be found. So I think you should own whatever you feel like is different about you that makes you unique, even if you feel like maybe it's a little bit of a struggle or a little bit of a challenge for you in the beginning. Like you said, I think the confidence comes through the action. So I really love that advice. One of the things I absolutely love about Brazilians, one of my best friends, Jose, Jose, if you're listening, love your dog. Jose is from Brazil. He's actually from Sao Paulo, so you're from Rio. One of the things I love about Brazilians is that fun is a priority. Like if you look at a lot of cultures, fun is not one of the top priorities. It's like security, you know, making sure that you're financially secure

• 23:29Speaker 00

or health or whatever, every culture has it. But fun is like top three in the Brazilian culture. I think that that's something that really shows when you are presenting, when you are teaching, when you are online, when you're on Instagram doing your reels, like you're having fun. How important is fun in business?

• 23:46Speaker 01

I think it's crucial, like you have to like what you're doing. Otherwise you are. Not gonna stand waking up another day if you don't enjoy what you're doing. So having fun and doing things that make you proud, that make you feel proud of yourself. Really, when you are doing your work is something that helps a lot in increasing the morale and making you more excited. So definitely just a note that just to give some context. In Brazil, we have a lot of holidays. So I asked Google just now, it looks like there

• 24:25Speaker 01

is like 11 national state holidays. They usually are in Thursday or so then you don't work on Monday as well or Thursday and so forth. So we do prioritize time off as well. I mean, it's just like it's so natural that when we look at some other cultures, especially when you look at the US, like it's carried the number of holidays that are in there. When I was working as a developer, well, that was one of my worries. Oh, my God, I will not have time off.

• 24:55Speaker 00

Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean, and I also say that when I go on holiday with my buddy Jose, who's from Brazil, when he's on holiday, he's on holiday, like he's off, he's not working, like he's not constantly checking his phone. He's really prioritizing the time off, which is I find very refreshing. So I love that about your culture.

• 25:14Speaker 01

There is something that I'm very actually workaholic. So when I was not like when I had my time off, that was when I was working at my side project and which was inside the show. And now that there's no side project anymore, usually when I'm not working, I'm like working as well, just because I.

• 25:31Speaker 00

Yeah, that's entrepreneurship, that's business. It's hard to switch off. That's for sure. Speaking of like growing inside the show, you do a lot of teaching. What are some of the personal growth experiences you had through teaching, through growing the business? What are some of the things that you learned along the way?

• 25:48Speaker 01

It's, I think it's really hard to do this alone. My look, for example, for, I think for everyone, when they see me online, they look at my Instagram and YouTube and my emails and everything. They think that I'm running everything and this is not true. From the beginning, I had a partner, three partners from the beginning, where we didn't know anything about marketing online and anything about running online business in the practice. And we learned it together, but I couldn't have done and I cannot do this by myself still today. And today we have a team of 10 people to run the business. And I think that was the number one surprise for me because I would have thought that I would be able to do everything because I can be in front of the cameras, I am a programmer,

• 26:31Speaker 01

I'm a designer and I know how to do stuff online and put websites up and et cetera, but it's impossible. So even today I struggle with that, need more people on the team, but that was what I realized.

• 26:43Speaker 00

And you have a thriving community, you know, you have a circle community and you have to maintain that community, keep people engaged and run practice sessions. I mean, one of the things I love about your program is that you only just teach, this is how you're supposed to do it, this is how you present, this is how you use the tools, but you allow opportunities for people to jump on calls and practice what they learn, you know, on a live, you know, Zoom call, which is really interesting. Why do you feel like that's important for people to be able to kind of implement before they actually go live and do it in front of their own audience?

• 27:16Speaker 01

As a fan, we are doing magic effects. We are surprising the audience, we are impacting them, we are creating an experience. So the same way that magicians need to practice, they don't learn a magic trick and go do it immediately to show someone, you have to practice and practice and practice to get it right. We embedded it from the ground up in the program. We know that practice is the most important thing. So we have the program, like the Acceleration Sprint, where we get people up and running in a few weeks. And then we have practice sessions all year long, every Wednesday, two time zones. Basically, you go there and you are put on spotlight and you ask it to do like a small task, like 30 seconds a minute task, like presenting.

• 27:58Speaker 01

Present a topic with a slide and bring someone to the stage and unmute them and then send them off. Or do a poll with the audience and bring the first person that got it right to the stage. And then ask questions to them. I don't know, but something like what I would do in real life. The way that you would interact with people and this is all by yourself, not talk. These are things that usually everyone out there is doing with a team. You have someone that is managing and producing everything. We have designed these things for little like press of buttons. You are able to make it happen and practice is important for also develop a muscle memory. It becomes second nature.

• 28:38Speaker 00

I love that. I'm very honored when I get to speak in public on stages, at events, in conferences. I just spoke at Dale Beaumont's event, which was on a cruise, which was crazy. I was speaking in this huge theater. One of the things that people say when I get off stage is like you are very good at public speaking. I tell them that like I've been working on it for a very long time. And what people don't understand is that it's so much easier to be good at anything if you rehearse. If you do it over and over, like this, my 25 minute speech, I know it like I know the lyrics of my favorite song. Like I can jump in and out of it. I don't need to look back at my slides. I know exactly when to click the clicker. I know exactly when I'm hitting my beats, when I have to pause, when I have to really connect with the audience or whatever it might be.

• 29:23Speaker 00

Because I've literally ran that speech 50 times before I did it in front of anybody in an audience. And a lot of people think that's overkill. Isn't that like not natural, all that kind of stuff? I was like, no, because it becomes even more natural because it's just so second nature. So one of the things I really love about your program is that you really emphasize rehearsal. Like when I was running through your program, you would tell people to go and do some homework and record your video. Like for example, you would teach something like do your pre-show and then run a poll and then do some confetti to celebrate somebody's win. And you would just record. It's like a one minute thing, but you record it. But the reason why it works and why this is so important is because you don't want to do it for the first time when you're in front of a live audience.

• 30:08Speaker 00

Do it a few times at least so that you are comfortable. It's not no surprises. So I do think that rehearsal is something that's really overlooked. A lot of people just think that they know their content. And I think one of the things that I want to talk to you about is it's not about actual the content. Right. It's not, everybody has content. Everybody has information, right? It's how you can deliver it, right? How good are you at communicating your message? So share with me a little bit about why communication, how you communicate is so important when it comes to online presentations.

• 30:43Speaker 01

I would say that the way that I see it is that presenting is 50% delivery, 50% content. You're only as strong as your weakest link. Most, a lot of people have already heard that sentence. And if your weakest link is the delivery, so no matter if your content is super great, if you're the best teacher in the world, you're not going to have the same impact if your delivery was up to match. So that's why it's so important to communicate and to, to work on your delivery because it amplifies many times your content when it's already great.

• 31:23Speaker 00

I so agree with this. If anybody wants to just go down, go to Ted.com, look at the most popular Ted Talks. If you look at the topic, you look at the content that's actually being shared. It's not revolutionary. It's like a very simple idea, but it's delivered so well that that idea resonates with you. It's really delivered in a way that really connects with people. So I highly recommend, you know, people really think about the delivery. One of the examples I love to give is we all have Uncle Bob in our family. You know, he might be called something else in your family, but Uncle Bob, every single holiday, every single Christmas, every single Easter, whatever, when he's at the dinner table, he says the same joke. Uncle Bob repeats this joke every year and every time he hits the punchline, everybody laughs. Why?

• 32:07Speaker 00

Because he's saying this joke over and over for years, for 50 years. So he's so good at the delivery, it still kills, right? It's the same joke, you know, it's coming, right? But Uncle Bob is a Legend in everybody's family because of that. So I really think about that a lot because you know, when you look at the professionals out there, like I like to see like who else is doing things at a high level. So you look at the professionals, you look at people like Stephen Colbert or you know, late night talk show hosts or stand up comedians. This is not the first time they're doing this special. They nail all the beats, you know, exactly when people are gonna laugh and that way they don't talk over the laughs and they have everything timed perfectly. How do you think they are able to do exactly one hour on Netflix? How do they do that? Like because

• 32:49Speaker 00

they've done it a million times. And I think that's something that we kind of forget. I think it's really good to watch even an online presentation, a webinar and figure out like reverse engineer it. Like, how is this person pulling this off so flawlessly? I want to say that when I watch you present, I think of the same. I think of like, how is he able to do this so seamlessly? And you don't even, I don't even see your hands. I don't even see how you're actually switching slides. I don't even see how you're putting things together. Of course, I know like how the sausage is made because I'm part of your program. But initially, when I saw it, I was just like, is this happening in like somebody else in another studio or somebody else is queuing these things? How important is that when you were coming up with this program to kind of make it look like it's effortless?

• 33:34Speaker 01

It's funny because I didn't really think about making it so effortless that it became invisible. The things happen as you're speaking and you're talking about something, then something appears on the screen. You never stopped, you never stopped to click on a button or to say, oh, are you guys seeing my screen? Things just came like it looks like it's an agitated session. And that's why people think it's not live. But it didn't came like I was looking for that. Actually, I was looking to make it so easy that anyone could run it. And it became so easy that now it's invisible. It was a side effect, a side effect that I definitely use and abuse,

• 34:17Speaker 01

which sometimes is a problem because people are left sure that there is someone running the tech for me, or there is a team running the tech for me. And that's another thing that I hear a lot.

• 34:30Speaker 00

  Yeah, for sure.

• 36:09Speaker 00

I think that what's interesting about it is, you don't do, and anybody who does an inside the show kind of presentation, don't do the common things that you always hear on a webinar or on a Zoom call or in a meeting. You never say, "Can you hear me?" You never say, "Is my camera clear? Can you see my screen? Are you seeing my slides?" You never actually say these things because you have a seamless... You know everybody sees it. You have a reflection of what the audience sees. You know exactly what's happening. You've already, prior to the actual meeting, made sure everything's working. And there's something about that... Alone, but just like not putting the burden of is this presentation working on the audience? That alone by just like, that's not the audience's problem if they can hear you or not, or if they can see your slides.

• 36:54Speaker 00

Their job is not to be your producer, right? So I think that that's a really interesting thing, that a little small thing that makes a big difference. I want to talk about the small things. How important are the details when somebody is presenting live?

• 37:08Speaker 01

The details are something that I really look after because the details are something that becomes invisible. When you see something that is so good, you don't remember very well why it was so good. You just have this feeling. But when you see something going wrong or something not so good, you remember the this. So I aim for a high standard always, but if something failed, people don't know what to expect. Like there are situations like something didn't work the way that I wanted, but people was just ended the session. I was pissed off because something didn't work the way that I wanted. And everyone was ending the session when I ended the session was saying, wow, this was amazing, the best presentation ever.

• 37:53Speaker 00

  They didn't even notice.

• 37:54Speaker 01

Didn't know what I didn't do. So I think it's like aiming for the details is great, but if something doesn't work out, just like people are not going to know what they missed. And they will be like really impacted already by so many other things.

• 38:08Speaker 00

Well, ladies and gentlemen, those who are listening, as promised, we're going to pass it on to Philippe right now, and he's going to kind of show us what he's been talking about. You know, I teased this at the beginning of the episode that you're going to get to see a demo of what this inside the show kind of experience looks like, what your presentations might look like if you want to kind of learn the ways of Philippe Nardi and the inside the show methodology. So if you're listening right now on the podcast, awesome, thank you. But you may want to check us out on YouTube, just go to 100mba.net/youtube and then you can check out this same episode, but on video so you could actually see what's happening and what we're talking about. If you're driving or something like that, no worries.

• 38:50Speaker 00

Just continue listening and you can kind of get some of the gist, but remember, go back on YouTube, you're going to want to see what Philippe has in store. So Philippe, I'm going to pass it on to you.

• 38:58Speaker 01

All right. So usually when we talk about inside the show, it's really, really hard for people to see. And it's way easier to. To show them than to talk. So I want to show the gist of what is a presentation looks like. Alright, so usually when people do a session online, what they do is they hit screen share and then this slide comes up and they hide in a little corner of the screen and they stay like that for an hour. And no matter how good your content is, it's going to get in the way. People have to make an effort to be able to follow what you are doing, what you are teaching.

• 39:43Speaker 01

So what we like, one of the things that we like to do on Inside the Show is actually having these slides coming on the side so that they don't take over the entire screen and they don't compete with you. They actually integrate with what you are saying and they go away when you don't need them anymore. And something that we've been experimenting with recently is something that we call responsive slides. And responsive slides is the ability for you to have horizontal and landscape layouts at the same presentation. This is the same slideshow. I'm just pressing next slide. And if you haven't figured it out, I'm using this device right here. It's called the flick button. I'm just pressing next slide and it just goes to the next slide, it changes orientation and go away by just pressing one button.

• 40:28Speaker 01

So basically I just did all of that, but just pressing one button.

• 40:32Speaker 00

Just a quick timeout. Guys, this is live. Felipe is doing this live as I'm talking to you right now. Like on this live call as we're recording this podcast episode. So if you're like, what is going on? How is he doing this right now? Well, that's what, that's what we've been talking about throughout the whole episode. So keep going Felipe. This is crazy.

• 40:51Speaker 01

Okay. Another thing that I think adds a lot to the presentation, that's something that we do on Inside the Show, is making the audience part of the experience. So integrating them on screen like that. So these are actually people that are on a Zoom session right now and I'm bringing them up on screen live as we are recording this podcast. And these are not people that are like, they are not real people. They are actually bots. And basically all of these are members of Inside the Show. So basically when there are 25 people, you see 25 people around you and you can go over pages so you can show more people. And when there is less people, you see logos, images, videos that you can put around to match your brand and to make up these empty spaces. So it works with any number of people on the call.

• 41:37Speaker 01

And these, by the way, these right here, these people right here, this is what we call the Zoom Audience Simulator. There is a call that is on right now, and this call, we have 25 or so bots online 24 hours. And this is something that basically members can go in and practice their workflow. Since they are actually actual participants, they can go in, spotlight, unmute, and do all the, everything that you would do in a live session with the bots. And this is 24 hours, so you can practice on your own time. Aside from the practice sessions where our live trainers that put you on spot and ask questions and ask tasks. This is other practice, practice element that we have to allow you to practice 24/7.

• 42:22Speaker 01

And this allows me to be doing this demo right now. And these bots can actually talk to you, so they actually try, they, they are able to send messages on the chat, so I can bring like messages on screen just like you would be able to in a Zoom session. In not only Zoom, I'm talking about Zoom a lot, but a lot of things that we do, like 90% that we do works on Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, and so many other platforms. But honestly, Zoom is the best, and for many reasons that I can explain later, if you guys want to, and I will have some, a little invitation for you guys. So these bots can talk. And one of the things that we do is give people a reason to be live,

• 43:03Speaker 01

because they could otherwise be watching a replay at 2X while they are live with you. One of the, there are many ways that we do that, like the audience around is one of them, but also the interactive overlay. So we have overlays that we can ask people a question, and as they type on the Zoom chat, like the Zoom chat itself, it goes, it moves. At, at the time people type yes or no, it just shows the live audience how many people are saying yes or no. So you can actually ask a question and get a real answer. So if you are in person, you, you may be able to ask a yes or no question, and you may see their handle, and you say, okay, so 30% of the room, but you don't have, you're not pretty sure.

• 43:47Speaker 01

This is exactly like everyone is typing, you have this accurate representation of what people are answering. But also, there are other things like, sometimes, imagine if you were in person and you ask it, people, where are you from? There is no way people can answer it. It's just where like, just in a 10 people, uh, are they talking one at a time, are they gonna talk over each other, it's impossible. But when you do these on a virtual sessions in the way that we do on Inside the Show, you can add a fact, like right now I'm using what we call the Gravity Awards, and as people are typing in the chat, and these are all the bots that are typing their location, we see they're coming up on screen, just like that.

• 44:28Speaker 01

But we do have another representation of place that is pretty cool as well, uh, for getting started in warming up people in the beginning, is asking where they are from. And as people type in the chat, they are gonna see their pin on the map, and this is all like seamless, seamless for you, seamless for the audience as well, because they don't have to download another software to do this kind of things. I see people sending to, uh, services that require people to scan a QR code and then use their phone to do pause and etc. What happens is that, this gets in the way. People will now have their phone and they receive a notification and suddenly they are distracted. The way that we do it, all happening on Zoom, like you have the Zoom chat, you type, you are there, and this happens. You make sense of the noise.

• 45:11Speaker 01

Instead of just seeing a bunch of words floating on the chat, you are actually making sense of the noise. And this transforms a presentation into a conversation, and this transforms a session into an experience.

• 45:24Speaker 00

I love it. This is incredible. One of the things that I find remarkable about this is that, like I said, the retention rate, how long people stay on the actual presentation, the webinar, the workshop, but people will screenshot and share it on social, like they're at a concert, like they're like, oh, what is this? This is like, you know, when people like take selfies or take photos when they're at an event or a concert or a sports game and they share it on social, they do this with these types of sessions, because it's just like, I've never seen anything like this before, and they just feel like they need to share with other people. So, this is really noteworthy work. This is very polished. Very high level and I feel like this is kind of long overdue. We've been doing a lot of online presentations and webinars and

• 46:04Speaker 00

and meetings and workshops at a very long time and no one's really kind of leveled up the game like you have. What is some of the feedback that you are getting as you're improving the program as people are presenting to their own audiences?

• 46:19Speaker 01

I've been collecting a lot of feedback on the impact that it makes because there is so many different people running. There is not a single metric that I can ask for, like some people are doing trainings every day. Some people are teachers, some people are definitely have their own business and there is no single metric. Some people are not necessarily making money directly from the presentation, but indirectly. So it's very, very hard to, I don't know how to ask this question yet. If you have an idea, I would love to hear because I need to.

• 46:51Speaker 00

Yeah, I mean, one of the things that we did with our own three day live training is we screenshotted all the chat messages that we were getting during the presentation. So we were able to kind of like capture the feedback live of just like people's initial reaction of like, what, what is this? Like they're just, that was one of the actual comments, like, what is this? Like, is this live? What's happening right now? You know, how are you doing this? What software are you using? Is this, are we still on Zoom? Like people are just like, don't know what to make sense of this because it's so different from anything they ever participated from or attended. So I think maybe encouraging your participants and your, and your members to screenshot some of the feedback they're getting in the chat because I find it quite interesting because we, we do it too, so that we can be able to, you know, use it for our next live

• 47:36Speaker 00

and put it on the actual signup page so that it kind of encourages people to kind of like, what, what's all this buzz about? So yeah, it's something definitely that is unique.

• 47:45Speaker 01

There was something I want to tell about the, the photo that you were talking about, people taking photos of the session and posting on social media. We've been seeing these a lot and recently we've done something that is called the photo booth. Have you seen the photo booth?

• 47:59Speaker 00

  No.

• 47:59Speaker 01

You haven't seen this? Okay, so this came up just a few weeks ago. Basically it's a way for people to take a photo with you. So you bring the audience around like that and you say, okay, so in the count of three, we are going to take a photo, make a pose. And one photo, other photo. And one more.

• 48:20Speaker 01

And there you go. So basically, we take photo, the audience is flash, and they immediately see the photo that were taken. And it doesn't stop there. As people type in the chat, their comments appear on this Instagram-like little animation. And also, something that happens is that I can press one button, and I can give a link to these photos to them immediately. Like, it's a website, you customize it with your logo, with the photos that were just taken, that they can download, and they can post to social media.

• 48:52Speaker 00

That is amazing. So then, basically, people could just download via that link in the chat, and share, and it looks professional. I think that's incredible. Great. I'm gonna have to go into the community and check out how to do that for my next session. That's amazing. Philippe, I don't want to keep you to myself. I want to share with our audience how they can learn more and learn from you, and present the Inside the Show methodology. How can people learn more about you or sign up for your next session?

• 49:22Speaker 01

So just go to insidetheshow.com. And every three months or so, I do a free masterclass, where I actually walk you through, this is a very intense week, where I walk you through how to set up, how to do a presentation, how to set up a presentation that looks like something that no one is doing over there. So you get out of this week with something amazing. And then I present you the Inside the Show program, and show all these other features that we have in the program, and invite you to join. So we only open Romy's to Inside the Show three or four times per year, because we onboard a lot of people, and we want to make sure that we are able to give the support and all the help that we can for the people that are joining. We cannot just leave it open all the time. So depending on when you're listening to this,

• 50:07Speaker 01

there might be a masterclass going on, or you can sign up for the next one. Inside the show.com. Just go there.

• 50:16Speaker 00

I signed up about a year ago. I went to his website. I went to InsideShow.com. I signed up for the next masterclass week. I actually emailed Philippe and said, hey, I'm sold. I don't need to go to the masterclass. Can you just give me the program? He said, no, no, no, we're actually updating the program. You know, it's going to be available, you know, in about a month or so. And I was like, okay, cool. And so I attended your, your, your free week of training. And guys, this is like several sessions. You're in a community. You're asking questions. This is like free, like a program that honestly, you could, you could charge three, four, $500 for. And then after you kind of get a taste, it's like module one of what Inside the Show is all about. And you can actually see you

• 50:59Speaker 00

creating these great presentations in that week. You're like totally like, I'm in. How do I do this? And you sign up. And I think you run a great program at a good value. If you run any kind of live presentations, whether you do it for sales, whether you do it for coaching, whether you do it for content, anytime, or even if it's not even live, I think it's even great if you're doing recorded videos, you can record these sessions as well and create these great, even like mini courses or online courses, if you're doing that. And I've done that before and used your software to kind of record the videos. So I highly recommend it. Philippe, thanks so much for being here and sharing your knowledge and sharing your story. I had a, you know, a great time and it was a pleasure to just chat with you.

• 51:42Speaker 01

Thank you so much for inviting me. I had a pleasure. I also demonstrated and talked to you, Omar. Thank you so much.

• 51:48Speaker 00

There you have it. Thanks so much, Philippe, for your time. If you want to learn more, if you want to take a part of his free training week, go to InsideThe.show to sign up for the next virtual class that he has, or sign up for Inside the Show if it's open. Either way, you'll be on the waiting list and you'll get an email, which is, I highly recommend doing that. You can also check out Philippe on Instagram. It's at Philippe, F E L I P P E, Nardi, N A R D I. And you can check out some of his reels and some of his content there is brilliant as well. The message I want to leave you with here, guys, is that if you want to level up in any area, one of the best ways to invest In your business and yourself is investing in your communication, investing in the way you portray yourself, the way you come across to the world.

• 52:33Speaker 00

And if you're doing online presentations and they're mediocre, this is a great way to kind of level up and just be better than everybody else. This is going to increase your value, even at the start of its just perceived value. But people are going to say, okay, this is quality. This is something I can trust. And it makes it much easier for you to sell your products and services when you're starting from that level. Thanks again, Philippe, and thank you guys for tuning into the $100 MBA Show.
