The world's never heard these stories. I'm just letting it rip today.

• 0:59Patrick Bet-David?

Did you ever do anything with Kanye?

• 1:00Speaker 02

Man, he used to be one of my musical heroes. Used to be. Turned out to be a piece of [BLEEP]. Lose it if I see this guy in public, man.

• 1:08Patrick Bet-David?

What was your relationship with Baby?

• 1:10Adam Sosnick?

You get invited into the house. Not many people get into the house.

• 1:13Speaker 02

Nobody was taking advantage of me, but Bieber knew what the fuck he was doing. He was trying to hang out.

• 1:18Speaker 02

I'm cool with everybody, man. Like, I don't know. Maybe not after this interview. I had the first Bugatti.

• 1:23Patrick Bet-David?

  That's Kim K?

• 1:24Speaker 02

Yep. She made a song, by the way, called "F*** You Scott Storch." I can tell you, that's a funny [BLEEP] story.

• 1:30Patrick Bet-David?

Did you end DMX on anything, or no?

• 1:32Speaker 02

And he's smoking crack while they're handcuffing him, like, with the handcuffs on, getting his last hit. And it was like the blind leading the blind. Can you imagine, like, "Man, you really need to get your [BLEEP] down." I'm laying secrets out for y'all today, bro. This is all real talk. What do you think about music these days? This [BLEEP] is waxed. [BLEEP] is horrible right now. Honestly, like, good music has no expiration date.

• 2:06Speaker 02

I can't listen to that on repeat. I made it stutter and go...

• 2:18Speaker 05

Guess he was back. Scott Storch.

• 2:38Speaker 05

My handshake is better than anything I ever signed, right here.

• 2:42Patrick Bet-David?

You are a one of one? My son's right there.

• 2:44Speaker 05

I don't think I've ever said this before.

• 2:51Patrick Bet-David?

Scott Storch in the house, how you doing?

• 2:53Speaker 02

I'm chilling. Thanks for having me, man.

• 2:55Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, it's crazy. We were having dinner at, shout out to Martorano.

• 2:58Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah, Stevie.

• 2:59Patrick Bet-David?

Stevie, and we're over there, and I'm with some friends, you're with some friends, and I'm like, babe, is that, yeah, what, how you doing? And we're talking outside. And then a few months later, Adam, you guys are talking. How'd you guys get linked up all of a sudden?

• 3:17Adam Sosnick?

We have a couple mutual friends, MJ, Buddha, a couple guys, and then the night we were talking, I was telling him what I do, and Scott sometimes will play it cool, and at the end of the night, he goes, is this your guy right here? Shows picture of you, and I'm like, yeah, he goes, oh, this guy we had, like, and then it's been off the races ever since.

• 3:33Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, I remember this, but you know, so I know, you know, you as producer, what you've done. But then Adam's like, do you really know? I'm like, I think I know. Pat, let me tell you what this guy's done. I'm like, what has he done? Then he keeps playing, hits after, I'm like, there's no way, he did this, and he did this, and he did that, and he did this, and I pulled it up, I'm like, sorry.

• 3:57Speaker 02

  Volume.

• 3:57Patrick Bet-David?

Here's volume of number one hits. You did Beyonce Baby Boy, Fat Joe's Lean Back, 50 Cent Candy Shop, I mean Candy Shop, right? Mario Let Me Love You, Chris Brown Run It, and you've worked pretty much with everybody and anybody.

• 4:13Speaker 02

You didn't even scratch the surface of some of my biggest records.

• 4:16Patrick Bet-David?

  Tell me a river.

• 4:17Speaker 02

  I mean, there's so many.

• 4:18Patrick Bet-David?

Cry Me a River, Justin Timberlake.

• 4:19Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, there's so many, Still Dray.

• 4:24Speaker 02

I mean countless. Honestly, I've done more music, I think, than any producer, period.

• 4:29Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, what did Fat Joe say? Fat Joe say Spotify has all your songs 53 billion streams is what he said.

• 4:37Speaker 02

Yeah, it's more than that now. And it's the top, like, 1%. Like, it's like, there's only a few people up that high in terms of streams, and Drake is one of them, I'm one of them, and, you know, it's, it's an honor, man, you know. I'm passionate about what I do. I didn't do it for the money. I did it for the love and the passion. And then, you know, if you have passion for something, you're gonna, you know, excel at it.

• 5:01Patrick Bet-David?

But the stories, man, I mean, the stories goes with the, the parties, the ladies, the names, you know, the best of the best at the peak. It goes on and on and on. So...

• 5:11Speaker 02

A lot of that stuff was post-work. You know what I mean? Like, I was work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, and then all of a sudden, but we'll get to that later.

• 5:20Patrick Bet-David?

How to get started for you? How to get, when, like, at the beginning? Did you, since you were a kid, like, you know, for, an artist comes in here, say you're an architect, you're like, I don't know if I would have cut the doors this way, and I would have cut it this way. Do you go to a place, and if somebody goes, and then you're like, dun, dun, dun, dun, do you automatically link every sound to creating a beat? Is that how your brain is wired?

• 5:43Speaker 02

No, I'm receiving satellite. I swear to God. Like, you ever drive somewhere, and like, you, like, blackout, and you're like, how did I get here?

• 5:51Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 5:52Speaker 02

That's how it happens for me. I'll just, and it's like, oh shit. Throwing shit against the wall.

• 5:59Patrick Bet-David?

Would you mind if we just start off with you doing a couple of the beats?

• 6:02Speaker 02

  Sure.

• 6:03Patrick Bet-David?

For the audience to know. If you wanna, if you wanna invite in, I, I, I want the audience to kinda hear.

• 6:07Adam Sosnick?

  Jalen is here.

• 6:08Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, if we can get Jalen, our handsome son, Jalen, the guy could be a model, good-looking boy. Is he here with us?

• 6:16Speaker 02

You know what? I can say something about all my children. Sperm one. He really did.

• 6:23Patrick Bet-David?

I, Jalen, so if you can help set him up, one by one by one, I wanna see. By the way, when you're listening to this, folks, the moment he does, you're gonna be like, no flipping way.

• 6:37Speaker 02

Um, we can start with, um...

• 6:40Patrick Bet-David?

You wanna help him put that mic in front of him, Rob, so we can catch him there as well? Whatever you wanna start off with.

• 6:47Speaker 02

  What the hell is that?

• 6:50Speaker 02

  He's, the polarity's wrong, Liz.

• 6:54Adam Sosnick?

Turn my headphones up, turn my headphones up. Keyboard.

• 6:57Speaker 02

  It's lower octave.

• 7:02Speaker 02

Alright, so, should I just get right into it?

• 7:05Patrick Bet-David?

  Get right into it.

• 7:06Speaker 02

  Um...

• 7:07Patrick Bet-David?

The audience's gonna get it, especially if they're our age. They're gonna sit there and say, "Oh shit."

• 7:10Speaker 02

I'm gonna like, preface this with a few things. First of all, music today is made with computers, and just like, you know, like, even like, movies back in the day were made with the story, the, the, you know, the acting, everything had to be like, intense because there was no CGI, there was no this and that. And like, people like the Beatles, or whoever, would sit down, with no electricity, a pad and, and a pen, and a guy on a piano, and a melody was written. And that's where the substance comes from, and that's why, not to toot my own horn, but my records

• 7:54Speaker 02

are timeless. Like, good music has no expiration date. You could put it on now, or then, and the shit is forever. Like, my catalog just keeps going, whereas most records now, people like them, but it's like fast foods. That's it. And it tanks. So, with that being said, like, I have a couple of the records that I've done, they are like, considered to be um, some of the most um, iconic, I guess, piano riffs, or whatever, in, in the history of music. One of them is, um, you know, my buddy Dr. Dre and I, we made the Chronic 2000 album together, and

• 8:38Speaker 02

this was one of the pieces I came up with in the, uh...

• 8:59Speaker 02

  That's insane to me.

• 9:00Patrick Bet-David?

Now, let me ask you this, Scott. The first time you presented this, was it freestyle or you did it privately yourself?

• 9:07Speaker 02

  Freestyle.

• 9:08Patrick Bet-David?

So, the first time you showed him this, what was his reaction?

• 9:12Speaker 02

I mean, I've told this story before. Like, we were working in the studio and it was like towards the end of the making of the album. And, um, he programmed the boom, cap, boom, the drum pattern and just left it playing and went into like the kitchen, which is in earshot, to make a sandwich or something. And, um, I just, you know, was throwing shit against the wall. I started playing that and I was thinking to myself, why not play something really sloppy? Instead of going,

• 9:48Speaker 02

I made it stutter and go,

• 9:51Speaker 02

I make it, the wrong is the right.

• 9:55Speaker 02

Sometimes our imperfections is a perfection. So, I did that and like all of a sudden Dre opens the door. He's like, that's it. That's my fucking single. It was like that. And by the end of the day, he sent it off to, um, Jay-Z to write it. And it came back and it was fire. It was fucking fire, dude.

• 10:17Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, trust me, I know, because we played it. Everybody played it.

• 10:20Speaker 02

  Give me a Roots.

• 10:21Adam Sosnick?

And Scott, who were you at that point? Because Dre was already Dre. But you weren't known at that point. I know you were with The Roots. But at this point Dre was here, where were you?

• 10:30Speaker 02

It's, um, you should have your headphones on, man.

• 10:35Speaker 02

I was, um, the producer's producer. No, I mean, like honestly, I, I, I started in The Roots and did a lot of stuff for them.

• 10:48Speaker 02

Very underappreciated and I was the guy who like again came up with a lot of the nucleus of what that shit was and I left the group and was told that I was like the Pete Best of The Roots, you know Pete Best is the guy that quit the Beatles.

• 11:02Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 11:03Speaker 02

Yeah, and like I mean even my girlfriend like broke up with me because of that and said, "Oh, you fucked up" and this and that. I was like, "No, I didn't. Like I see bigger. I'm not gonna go on the road with a bunch of guys that don't appreciate me and be like, "That's the white guy who plays keys in The Roots."

• 11:16Patrick Bet-David?

  So they didn't appreciate you?

• 11:17Speaker 02

"I'm the fucking guy coming up with all the shit."

• 11:19Patrick Bet-David?

  They didn't appreciate you?

• 11:20Speaker 02

Not at all. As a matter of fact, they called me the White Devil and I'm like the most harmonious, loving, non-racist person ever and like it just hurt me.

• 11:30Patrick Bet-David?

How'd you meet him? How'd you, how'd you link up with him?

• 11:32Speaker 02

  Um.

• 11:33Patrick Bet-David?

Cause I work out to one of the songs from Roots.

• 11:35Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 11:36Patrick Bet-David?

  The one that you did.

• 11:37Speaker 02

Yeah, well that wasn't made for The Roots. That song, after I left The Roots, they realized I guess that they needed me still and I was, you know, I got my own little studio in this place called Sigma Sound where all the like disco stuff was recorded.

• 11:54Patrick Bet-David?

  This is where? What city?

• 11:55Speaker 02

  In Philly.

• 11:56Patrick Bet-David?

  Okay.

• 11:57Speaker 02

And they record there downstairs. So of course they come upstairs and they're like, "Um, you got anything?" And they saw I was working with this girl. I'm working with a girl who at the time worked at Urban Outfitters and now she's one of the most legendary neo-soul legends, Jill Scott. So Jill Scott was not an artist, as in yo, you should be an artist, you're awesome. She was like working at Urban Outfitters and doing an off-Broadway rendition of Rent and Questlove came in and heard what we were making and he said, "I gotta have this." And that was "You Got Me," the song you like to work out to. And um, Kay told me, like when I gave it to them, I was like,

• 12:42Speaker 02

"Make sure Jill stays on it." And at the last minute, they switched it to "Erica Badu."

• 12:46Patrick Bet-David?

  Huh.

• 12:47Speaker 02

  But Jill wrote it.

• 12:48Patrick Bet-David?

  "Erica Badu."

• 12:49Speaker 02

And a lot of the people that I brought in the studio like that, that I believed in that were the writers, they became stars. Like Neo, before he was an artist, was the guy that did "Let Me Love You" with me, with my boy Cam. But um, so uh, what was I gonna play? This is, you hear this tone? Reload it.

• 13:14Speaker 02

There we go. So this is a little something, I remember sitting in Westlake Studios. Just, again, trying to receive satellite and just like all of a sudden shit spontaneously happens. Me and Justin Timberlake were sitting, just the two of us, in this like tiny little, and there's a big live room and then there's the small one. And I had the Fender Rhodes setup and...

• 14:46Speaker 02

  You get the idea.

• 14:47Adam Sosnick?

I already know. I found that from...

• 14:49Patrick Bet-David?

And is it typically like right off the bat? Because when you hear that song, that song, it stays.

• 14:56Speaker 02

The simplest shit is the most infectious shit sometimes. Like less is more.

• 15:01Patrick Bet-David?

  The simplest shit, wow.

• 15:08Patrick Bet-David?

I can listen to that on repeat.

• 15:15Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, oh my god. I've probably listened to that song 500 times this week. That's the roots.

• 15:20Speaker 02

  There's passion in that.

• 15:21Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 15:22Speaker 02

You know, I didn't learn how to play. I didn't get taught. I just, I had a cassette recorder. I would put on this broken shitty upright piano that my parents had when I was a little kid. I just.

• 15:35Patrick Bet-David?

  Boom.

• 15:35Speaker 02

Oh, yeah, I just put like.

• 15:36Patrick Bet-David?

What was the inspiration though? Like, who did you look up to when you're coming up?

• 15:40Speaker 02

You know, when I was that age, I was like 10 years old. I was listening to a combination of people like Ozzy Osbourne and and Iron Maiden and Motown and Earth, Wind & Fire. I got this cassette called The 25th Anniversary of Motown. They even did a live show, legendary. That's where Michael Jackson kind of unveiled the moonwalk and all that Barry Gordy thing.

• 16:06Speaker 02

So, yeah, I just taught myself how to play and like I've always just was winging it and I moved to Philly. I grew up in Florida. I moved to Philly at 15 and like

• 16:18Speaker 02

I was like just going into 9th grade and I would just, we were in the suburbs of Philly and I would skip school and go into the city and try and find musicians and I met these guys, you know, Questlove and all these guys. And we would set up on the street and like borrow power from a store and we would just jam and we got, ended up getting Wendy Goldstein's ear, who was at Geffen. She's now the head of Republic.

• 16:45Patrick Bet-David?

  She was a Geffen?

• 16:47Speaker 02

  She was at Geffen.

• 16:48Patrick Bet-David?

  She was at Geffen.

• 16:48Speaker 02

She was an A and R, like, yeah. And we got like, you know, a great deal, you know what I mean? None of us made any money or anything like that from the earlier stuff.

• 16:59Speaker 02

  But, yeah, like.

• 17:00Patrick Bet-David?

How did you get linked up with Dre?

• 17:02Speaker 02

With Dre. I went to LA for the first time. And it was a girl from Philly randomly out there. Who had like ran up to me, she's like Scott, da da da. And like I put her on You Got Me as well, she was one of my friends. And I don't know if you know who that I'm talking about, but it's Eve.

• 17:26Adam Sosnick?

  The rapper Eve.

• 17:27Patrick Bet-David?

  Mrs. Gumball.

• 17:30Speaker 02

Yeah. So Eve, um, she's like, yo, you always were cool to me and her, her brother E-Rex. And they were like, yo, we're gonna get you in with Dr. Dre. I'm like, Dr. Dre? Are you serious? And it's the first time, I'm like broke as shit and you know, three months behind in Philly on rent. And I go in to see Dre. And they, she, you know, she kept her word and I went in. I waited in the lobby for like four hours and then they said Dre's waiting for you in the live room. I had no music to play for him. And I go in and he's like, Eve said you good on them keys, man. And I was like, alright, and I just thought to myself, I'm not gonna play anything I ever played before.

• 18:13Speaker 02

I'm gonna do the most ominous like gangster type shit that I can think of. Not like the P-Funk shit that the West Coast was doing at that time. I was wanting to do something because I know Dre's into that type of stuff and I just do something. And I played for a couple of minutes. And like, within an hour, I had like a hotel key for a nice boutique hotel, like ten Gs. All my problems were solved. And I remember I went back and I got my stuff and I started a new life at that point. And I had to have like all my shit sent from Philly and to LA. And like Dre and I just were like, the next day, I went in to meet him in the studio and he's like,

• 18:56Speaker 02

I got this like white rapper kid, he's really dope, his name's Marshall. And like we made just the two of us that day, which was like his first release on Aftermath.

• 19:04Adam Sosnick?

  Get out of here.

• 19:05Speaker 02

  No, I said.

• 19:06Adam Sosnick?

  Marshall Matters you're talking about.

• 19:07Patrick Bet-David?

We're watching Eight Mile with the boys.

• 19:10Speaker 02

Yeah, and then the next day. I hit, I struck gold again, like, you know, I, we're not on every day, even Dre, this was Dre's expression, he said, "You don't have to be on every day, just most days." You know what I mean? Like, which means your success rate, we're human, but if you're really the shit, you're usually gonna come with that fire.

• 19:29Patrick Bet-David?

And when you first time met Marshall, when you first time met him?

• 19:32Speaker 02

He had black hair, he was chubby, and it didn't look like nothing like-

• 19:36Patrick Bet-David?

Did you, did you feel there was something special-

• 19:38Speaker 02

  Bro, he's-

• 19:40Patrick Bet-David?

  Right off the bat?

• 19:40Speaker 02

  A beast.

• 19:41Patrick Bet-David?

But right off the bat, you felt it?

• 19:43Speaker 02

  Huh?

• 19:43Patrick Bet-David?

Where you said, "This guy's different."

• 19:45Speaker 02

Yeah, immediately. And I knew, obviously, Dre has, his ears are priceless, so, you know.

• 19:50Patrick Bet-David?

His ears are priceless, so he can-

• 19:52Speaker 02

Yeah, when I went to tell, like, the people in The Roots, that like, I was still like, talking to sort of, of that I was going to work with Dre, they were like, "Ah, you working with Dre 10 years too late, bro."

• 20:02Patrick Bet-David?

  Ah!

• 20:03Speaker 02

"Good luck." Like, yeah, and we went on the run of runs-

• 20:06Patrick Bet-David?

  Did they really say that?

• 20:07Speaker 02

  Yeah, they're just all haters.

• 20:09Patrick Bet-David?

  What happened to those guys?

• 20:10Speaker 02

No, I mean, they're on Jimmy Fallon, they're on Jimmy Fallon, Roots, yeah. Yeah, I'm not trying to just dog them out, like, whatever. That was a part of my journey.

• 20:17Adam Sosnick?

Same group, yeah, can you pull them up, Rob? They're on Jimmy Fallon every single night.

• 20:20Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 20:22Patrick Bet-David?

But do they make new stuff, or it's just they're playing whatever that they're playing?

• 20:25Adam Sosnick?

  I don't know, you wouldn't know that.

• 20:26Speaker 02

I don't know, like, I mean, I think, they, they play a lot of, like, cool music.

• 20:31Adam Sosnick?

What, what year were, did, uh, Baby You Got Me?

• 20:34Speaker 02

  97, I mean-

• 20:35Adam Sosnick?

Okay, so, and then, I want to say, chronologically, if we go in order, Marshall Mathers, the, uh, his first album, that came out in 98. That was before the Chronic 2000s, right?

• 20:44Speaker 02

  No, it was 99.

• 20:45Adam Sosnick?

  99, okay.

• 20:46Speaker 02

Yeah, the end of 99, believe it or not.

• 20:47Adam Sosnick?

Hi, my name is, huh, my name is, so that was before you did Still Dre?

• 20:53Speaker 02

Well, uh, yeah, Dre released him, I think, if I remember correctly, first. Our, um, the Chronic album, Dre's album was, um, came out in 2001. We started in 99. Yeah.

• 21:07Patrick Bet-David?

And, and, and when it comes out to him, okay, first impression walks into the room?

• 21:14Patrick Bet-David?

Your feel, your vibe when you meet him. What's he like? Forget about one, you know, some guys-

• 21:18Speaker 02

  He's a funny dude.

• 21:19Patrick Bet-David?

  He is a funny dude.

• 21:20Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. He got a lot more serious over the years, but like, yeah, he's just funny dude, like, super cool. Eats Taco Bell every day. Literally, every day.

• 21:30Speaker 02

Yeah, he's a cool guy. He used to come to the house and make beats with me. He's such a like, you know. Like, the things that make me laugh and that stand out with Eminem. Like, I remember Dre walking in the studio and I just happened to be in the room with M. And M was adding, the album was done. And, um, he was adding sound effects. Like, actual sound effects, like, things that related to his lyric, like, if it's a gunshot, or a, uh, you know, something drop, whatever it is. He was like, you know, a glass cracking, whatever it is, like, he was just doing that. And I remember Dre being like, "Yo, enough of the motherfucking sound effects, man. It's done." But he's like a mad scientist. He's like, really involved. He's not just a rapper. He's like, producing the album. Bringing the magic out of it, the sauce.

• 22:13Patrick Bet-David?

What was the schedule like? Like, you guys are coming in, like, late. You're going till six o'clock in the morning. What was it like when you worked with Dre?

• 22:19Speaker 02

Not Dre's crew. It was organized. It was three o'clock till, like, two or three.

• 22:23Patrick Bet-David?

Three o'clock in the afternoon till two or three?

• 22:25Speaker 02

  Yeah. Good time.

• 22:27Patrick Bet-David?

And he was super, so what are you guys doing when you guys in there together? What does it look like?

• 22:31Speaker 02

I mean, it, some, it's, it's different, different days. Dre has, like, specific, like, casts that are on, like, certain days. Like, sometimes it was more intimate, it was just he and I, and, uh, maybe one other guy and the engineer. And then it was like, sometimes a lot of people, like, you know. Sometimes you bring in percussionists, and so that, you know, the characters change in it. But, you know, the nucleus of a lot of the things-

• 22:55Patrick Bet-David?

  This is you guys here?

• 22:57Speaker 02

  Yeah. I was a nerd.

• 23:01Patrick Bet-David?

How old were you in that picture, Scott?

• 23:03Speaker 02

Uh, well, I'm fifty-one now. That was in ninety-nine.

• 23:07Patrick Bet-David?

Thirty-six years ago. Ninety-nine is thirty-six years ago?

• 23:11Speaker 02

Remember I dropped out of school?

• 23:12Patrick Bet-David?

  Twenty-six years ago.

• 23:15Patrick Bet-David?

  Ninety-nine, twenty-six years ago, so fifty-one, you're twenty-five years old.

• 23:18Speaker 02

  Twenty-five.

• 23:18Patrick Bet-David?

So are you, at this point, have you already started playing, experiencing Hollywood ladies? Partying or not yet?

• 23:25Speaker 02

  No, no.

• 23:26Patrick Bet-David?

  No.

• 23:26Speaker 02

  No.

• 23:26Patrick Bet-David?

  And Dre's super disciplined.

• 23:28Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah, and like, you know, I, there were some fun moments in there. There was like a skit on the album where he wanted like, the sound of like, sex stuff going on, and like, all these porn stars were brought in, and like, it was, that was a fun session.

• 23:43Patrick Bet-David?

Wait, the porn stars came in for the sound?

• 23:46Speaker 02

Yeah, he always got on microphones and just like, made sex sounds and shit like that, yeah.

• 23:50Patrick Bet-David?

That's it, they came in just for the sounds?

• 23:51Speaker 02

Dude, Dre is so cool, I seen Dre have stone and a shovel to catch a

• 23:58Speaker 02

like, all kinds, it's all set up in the live room with mics on it and shit like, insane, he goes to different levels than most people. But, look, I worked with Dre, it was a great period of my life, but at some point that I realized, that Dre has his empire. It's now time to build mine. You know what I mean? And, um, that moment happened at the, at the Grammys, in two thousand five.

• 24:26Speaker 02

In two thousand five, I went there, and a lot of the music, obviously, you know, the one award that a producer can get, is the Producer of the Year. And I watched Dre receive the Producer of the Year. I was jealous, I think, because I was involved in some of the music that year, and I was like, you know what, I want, I want that for myself. So I told Dre, "I love you, best of friends, I'm gonna move back to Florida, I'm not gonna make gangster music, I'm gonna just go a different direction, and just try and build my shit." And then that came to two thousand six. I had almost like, I think it was like thirty-two weeks at number one, something crazy. Of all the, you know, the records that I did from Let Me Love You, Baby Boy, Naughty Girl,

• 25:11Speaker 02

Me, Myself and I, Candy Shop, these were all in like this, all these hits I made that year. And I was like, I'm gonna be the producer of the year. I broke every record there is as a producer to break. And I remember I was sitting with Marilyn Manson and my girlfriend at the time was Paris. Paris Hilton, yeah. And we went there, I left in disgust because I wasn't, you know, one of the nominees, but I wasn't nominated. And I couldn't understand it. And I realized, it was, it ended up being that one of this guy who produced like two songs for the Gorillaz. But he was, there's a thing called the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, NARIS. They're the group decides who gets the Grammys.

• 25:56Speaker 02

And it's like a panel of, you gotta be their poster child and suck their dick all fucking year long. I was busy making music. I was in the fucking trenches like getting it in and like going beyond the abilities of any human being. And they, you know, because they're like, oh, how did you touch the culture and it's that. I killed it. I was, I was all culture. But it's like they get to do what they wanna do and, um, yeah, fuck the Grammys.

• 26:23Patrick Bet-David?

How you feel about it today?

• 26:24Speaker 02

There's nothing with stats in that, like, there's no, you know, it's not like Billboard Awards or something. So, I, yeah.

• 26:30Patrick Bet-David?

Let me ask you with the Grammys, just, just out of curiosity, I mean, it's got nothing to do with this, I wanna come back to Paris and I wanna hear Candy Shop, I wanna hear all that stuff, but with Grammys, why is it everybody thinks Beyonce? Well, how much power does Beyonce have?

• 26:44Speaker 02

I don't know. I, I, I can, I can turn that story around. I, when we did that Dangerously in Love album.

• 26:50Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 26:50Speaker 02

One of the biggest honors of my career, there's a video clip you could find online where she's accepting her award for like best album or whatever and this and that, I forget what the category was. She thanked Jesus, she thanked me, and then she thanked Jay-Z.

• 27:06Adam Sosnick?

  I beat Jay-Z.

• 27:07Speaker 02

  What you risked?

• 27:08Adam Sosnick?

  Boom, boom.

• 27:09Speaker 02

No, it was a vital part of the album. Like, we, we sat in a studio for almost a month and just thugged it out. And like, I brought in somebody from Philly who was like, an old school rapper that I just knew would add some like, some street to it with her like, perfect prettiness of like, a lot of stuff she writes. It was a gutter, it was, we made like, some amazing shit.

• 27:29Adam Sosnick?

Who was in the album, uh, in the studio with you and Beyonce at that time?

• 27:33Speaker 02

Um, this writer named EST, from Three Times Dope, which is like, an old school rap group. And I convinced Beyonce, like, yo, this guy's gonna add something to it. She's like, I, I trust you, whatever. And, um, that was it. I produced all, at that time, like, everything by myself. I didn't have any like, like now you'll see 20 names on a fucking song and...

• 27:57Adam Sosnick?

What was your experience working with Beyonce? Was she a diva? Was she sweet?

• 28:00Speaker 02

No, she was an absolute dream to work with. So, like, talented. I mean, I would say like, some, one of the best singers in a female, like, soul singers ever to live, from Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Beyonce. There's range, power in that voice, and she has a, a distinct, um, idea of what she wants. She's an integral part of the writing, and one of the most talented people I've ever worked with.

• 28:30Adam Sosnick?

  Really?

• 28:31Speaker 02

I mean, we made one of the songs that I love, I mean, everybody knows the...

• 28:38Speaker 02

But she was like emoting. Yeah, yeah, it's a naughty girl. And we did the...

• 28:46Speaker 02

Baby boy. No, go back to the... But we made the one that I love the most, which is Me, Myself and I, because it was like, very like heartfelt, the...

• 29:02Speaker 02

And I added a nice surprise chord.

• 29:07Speaker 02

  I can't believe.

• 29:10Adam Sosnick?

  Sing it Scott.

• 29:11Speaker 02

It's like Rod Temperton singing like the Michael Jackson songs. I wanna rock with you.

• 29:17Adam Sosnick?

Oh no. So while you were, while you were there with Beyonce, where was Jay-Z at this point? Were they married, were they together?

• 29:24Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah, I'd rather not comment on any of that stuff. But like, yeah, they were, I mean, he wasn't around, but you know.

• 29:32Adam Sosnick?

  Okay.

• 29:32Speaker 02

She was in there focusing on her album.

• 29:35Adam Sosnick?

But did you work with Jay-Z at all?

• 29:36Speaker 02

I've worked with him, yeah, yeah, I worked with him. I had a bunch of shit I did with him and Timberland. The Ola Vobito, all that stuff, I played.

• 29:45Patrick Bet-David?

How was he like, what was he like?

• 29:47Speaker 02

  Pove?

• 29:48Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah.

• 29:49Speaker 02

He likes to get people on their toes. I remember one time, he came to the Hit Factory, Criterion Studios in North Miami. And it's probably one of the most legendary studios in the world, forget about Miami. But like, Timberland would have his studio on one end of the building. I had my studio on the other end. And I know Jay-Z came over and he said, yo Scott.

• 30:15Speaker 02

Timberland making some fire over there. I was like, really, really? I get a call like, from Timberland. He's like, what you making over there, man? Jay-Z came over and told me that you had some super fire over there. He was trying to get us on our competitive, to get the best out of us and like, get the eye of the tiger out of us. Like piss us off, like, oh, his shit was hot and mine wasn't. Like, smart guy.

• 30:40Patrick Bet-David?

  Did it work?

• 30:41Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 30:42Patrick Bet-David?

Did it work, it got you guys too?

• 30:44Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, I guess it did, but we figured it out though.

• 30:48Patrick Bet-David?

What was, did you ever do anything with Kanye?

• 30:50Speaker 02

  With Kanye?

• 30:50Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 30:52Speaker 02

Man, he used to be one of my musical heroes, used to be. I mean, the music is still great and that won't change. But as a person who was my friend and somebody I thought was an amazing person, one of the most creative people. Turned out to be a fucking piece of shit and I will fucking lose it if I see this guy in public, man. You know, like the disrespect that this man did to Jewish people and just labeling us and like glorifying Hitler and shit like that and then doing it again and like really going like for the jugular.

• 31:33Speaker 02

If I, if I was in a room, I'd probably fucking crack him in his face and like he broke my heart. One of his people, Che, that like works for Good Music is one of my friends and I said, yo, tell your man he hurt me. Like I thought I was his friend, but I guess I can't be his friend because I'm Jewish, like. Word. Like you're gonna glorify, what if a motherfucker's walking around talking about glorifying like slavery and shit like that, like? How does that work? Like, how are you gonna do that and just like hurt so many people? I don't know what the, what the, what was behind that, like shock value at the expense of like so many people's heartbreaking and like? We lost Kanye, like I threw out all my Yeezys, like I couldn't believe.

• 32:14Patrick Bet-David?

  Literally, seriously.

• 32:16Speaker 02

I mean, are you aware of like how this dude like? He really went in, man, like on some hate shit, like I don't get that, like, yeah, the Taylor Swift shit was funny, like sort of like whatever, but this is a different story, man.

• 32:29Patrick Bet-David?

Why do you think, I mean, you're, you're in the world, why do you think he did?

• 32:32Speaker 02

I don't know, man, like a lot of cool Jewish people like help, help them rise to the top. You know, I mean, there's a lot of cool people.

• 32:40Patrick Bet-David?

Are you, are you in contact with him? Like have you asked him? Have you approached him or no?

• 32:43Speaker 02

No, I sent a message to him, just telling him he broke my heart, I'm cool. It's all good.

• 32:48Patrick Bet-David?

  He never got back?

• 32:48Speaker 02

  He's a clown, dude.

• 32:51Speaker 02

He's a clown. Made great music, but he's a fucking clown. I'm not gonna hold back. I might get some backlash for the shit I'm saying. I don't give a fuck. I'm good. I'm good. Like, I'm good.

• 33:03Adam Sosnick?

Like these types of quotes over here? I'm a Nazi. I love Hitler. Now what? It's one thing as, as for me, I don't know Kanye like you do.

• 33:12Speaker 02

Like, this is a guy who like tried to like.

• 33:14Adam Sosnick?

  Friend of yours.

• 33:15Speaker 02

  Yeah, like.

• 33:17Speaker 02

Did he forget that this is the guy who like fucking like burn people in gas chambers and like innocent people, kids, innocent like what the fuck is that? What kind of clown shit is that? I know you wanna be witty and you wanna be original, you wanna be cool and say some out off the cuff shit or some weird shit. That shit's not cool, man. Who the fuck are you?

• 33:37Patrick Bet-David?

Who's closest? Because when you saw this pattern, it was right after what happened with his shoe deal. It was right after Kim K, right after things happened, marriage issues. Who's in his ear that he would listen to? Who do you think he is where? He can explain why he's gotten here? Cause he lost a lot of money. It's not like this was a smart business decision. It cost him billions of dollars. Who's in his ears that he would listen to?

• 34:05Speaker 02

I don't know, man. I don't know. He ain't listening to nobody. He got some screws loose.

• 34:12Adam Sosnick?

But is John Monopoly still managing him?

• 34:14Speaker 02

  I have no idea.

• 34:17Adam Sosnick?

When was the last time you had any interaction with him?

• 34:20Speaker 02

Last time I met him over at he called me down to meet him at um Rick Rubin's studio. The Beastie Boys and shit. He had a place called Shangri-La in Malibu. And I remember when I got there, he was in a meeting with James Purse, the clothing guy. And we just hung out for a little bit and you know, it was all good.

• 34:41Adam Sosnick?

  What year was that?

• 34:42Speaker 02

  I don't remember.

• 34:43Patrick Bet-David?

  This is you and Kanye?

• 34:44Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:44Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 34:47Patrick Bet-David?

  Listen.

• 34:47Speaker 02

That shit, it hurts me to like lose people like that, but like, I don't care, man. I don't got time for that.

• 34:53Patrick Bet-David?

  How close were you guys?

• 34:54Speaker 02

Not close, not that close, but I don't know.

• 34:59Patrick Bet-David?

But on the music side, I mean it's obviously you appreciated his talent.

• 35:04Speaker 02

Yeah. He's a beast in the studio. But that's no excuse. Look, I got my faults. I was fucking like maniac cokehead and lost a hundred million dollars like partying and shit. That's it's not smart either. But one's a disease and one's hate. So whatever, I have a good heart. And I think all people are created equally. And you know, I don't care what race, creed, color, this, that you are, we all the same. We all shit brown, like, you know, it's so funny, like I always make this analogy like in terms of like Middle Easterns and Israelis or whatever. I'm like, we all eat kebabs, man. Like it's all good, you know? But like

• 35:47Speaker 02

I don't know. Here's what it is. I just gotta move on.

• 35:49Patrick Bet-David?

You were talking about earlier when you went to the Grammys with Paris and you guys, you guys used to date, you and Paris Hilton?

• 35:56Speaker 02

  Yeah. I mean.

• 35:57Patrick Bet-David?

  How did that happen?

• 35:58Speaker 02

Um, she came, I was living at the time on Indian Creek Island.

• 36:05Speaker 02

Why I left there, I'm fucking retarded. Ivanka Trump just recently bought that house. I, you know.

• 36:10Patrick Bet-David?

  Bought your house?

• 36:12Speaker 02

Yeah, my old house. My old house. But after that house, I sold that house. I bought it from the, um, founder of Southern Wine and Spirits. And then I sold it like a couple of years later to move closer to disaster, which was, I was safe in Bow Harbor like. And then I moved to Palm Island and that's where all the fucked up shit happened. Um, so yeah, Paris came to work with me. We ended up dating and, um, had a relationship and she introduced me to like paparazzis, nightlife, fuck, being like the man, Us Weekly, fucking, you know, TMZ.

• 36:51Speaker 02

Like this whole party life and wild shit like that I never experienced before. Cause I was like in the studio night and day. I was rich. I had every car you can imagine, but they only went from the house to the studio and back. Like friends would come over and like, they would go to the club and then they would come back after, but I would ask them how it was. I think I was like nervous to even be cool at that point. And then she came along and I was cool and I got addicted to that. That was some douchebag shit on my behalf that I got so caught up in that and I changed who I was. Like I was hanging out with like,

• 37:28Speaker 02

people that are just not good, like people that think they're better than others, like, um, I don't wanna call out names or whatever. It's too insulting, but just like Hollywood douchebags. And like, you know, you, you are what you hang out with and it changed me from being this like innocent, like soulful, like, you know, organic person to like. This quest for fame and this quest to like, like I wasn't even like really that sprung on Paris, but I think we both used each other. I had music and she had fame and we were just like, cool.

• 38:02Patrick Bet-David?

  Great connection.

• 38:03Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 38:04Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah. There was a, there was a story that came out, a video that was shown saying, back in the days when Kim K was Paris Hilton's assistant.

• 38:12Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 38:12Patrick Bet-David?

Was it true? Was Kim K Paris's assistant?

• 38:14Speaker 02

Yeah, she used to sleep in my guest room. Yep. And then some weird shit happened. I'm not gonna say what happened, but, and then she made it to the, to the master bedroom.

• 38:27Speaker 02

  And Paris was not, yeah.

• 38:28Patrick Bet-David?

  Paris found out or?

• 38:30Speaker 02

No, it was just like, she and I were done and like, I think we were both like, had it and we were like commiserating. What did he say? Karen's, she's, she's commiserating at the house from Goodfellas, or whatever.

• 38:43Speaker 06

  Karen.

• 38:45Speaker 02

Yeah, so like, yeah, we ended up being a thing. Like, she was awesome, bro. She was a super cool girl.

• 38:50Patrick Bet-David?

  Kim, Kim was awesome.

• 38:51Speaker 02

  Yeah, like.

• 38:51Patrick Bet-David?

  What was awesome about her?

• 38:53Speaker 02

She was organic and she was just like, you know, eager to like, she wanted to like build her, her, her career up. She kind of followed Paris's blueprint with the furniture after whatever, but at that time she was just a cool kid and like, put it this way, there's a video on YouTube somewhere where I'm pulling up in car number four Bugatti Veyron ever. So like, it was the new thing, like people were reintroducing the Bugatti and I pulled up with Kim Kardashian to mansion on Washington Avenue.

• 39:26Adam Sosnick?

  12th and Washington.

• 39:27Patrick Bet-David?

  Is that it?

• 39:27Speaker 02

Yep, that's it. That's funny, you guys are quick. That's my car too, behind him. That was my driver that used to carry all my drugs for me.

• 39:34Patrick Bet-David?

  Mercedes Maybach, I think.

• 39:35Speaker 02

  That was, yeah, 62.

• 39:36Patrick Bet-David?

Yep. And that's you and Kim right there?

• 39:39Speaker 02

I bought one of those for Paris. Yeah, that's me and Kim, but if you listen to the audio on that, nobody knows that's Kim. They're just like, there's Scott Storch.

• 39:46Speaker 06

  Yeah, that's Scott Storch, yo.

• 39:48Adam Sosnick?

  In the Bugatti.

• 39:50Speaker 02

Yo, if I put this clip up, I would say it has to be first. I had the first Bugatti.

• 39:57Adam Sosnick?

Andrew Tate, can thank you is what you're saying.

• 39:59Speaker 02

Yeah. No, I taught motherfuckers how to ball.

• 40:01Patrick Bet-David?

  That's Kim K?

• 40:02Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 40:05Patrick Bet-David?

So at this point, are you guys an item or just?

• 40:07Speaker 02

  Yeah, I mean, obviously.

• 40:08Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah. And what did, how did Paris feel about the fact that, you know, she went?

• 40:13Speaker 02

  I don't give a fuck.

• 40:14Patrick Bet-David?

No, how did Paris feel? What did this do to her relationship with Kim?

• 40:18Speaker 02

  Didn't help.

• 40:20Speaker 02

  It was done already.

• 40:21Patrick Bet-David?

  Oh, was done already?

• 40:22Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah.

• 40:23Patrick Bet-David?

  Got it.

• 40:23Speaker 02

All fake shit. Dude, I must stop. I have so many sub stories within that that would have you like, if I told them, but it's just like, Kim was abused, like, by that friendship, haunted, because she was so hot. I guess there was maybe jealousy or something.

• 40:42Patrick Bet-David?

  Who was so hot?

• 40:43Speaker 02

  Kim.

• 40:44Patrick Bet-David?

  Kim was hot?

• 40:44Speaker 02

  Yeah, she was bad.

• 40:45Patrick Bet-David?

Was it more physically hot or her energy, her spirit, her?

• 40:48Speaker 02

  Everything. Everything.

Her mom was hot, like, you know, like, she was dope, like, back in the day. Like, she just, that family, you know, they was cool. She's like, she was at a low point, like, too, and it was like some guy that she was with, like, I think, like, blew her inheritance or something at that point, like, that she got, and one of her dudes, like, yeah, she like, she is like, taking punches, but she said, "Fuck it, I'm gonna go there." And she did it, and then she had the last laugh.

• 41:21Patrick Bet-David?

She definitely did have the last laugh.

• 41:22Speaker 02

  She's the shit.

• 41:23Patrick Bet-David?

How's the relationship today with you and Kim and Paris?

• 41:27Speaker 02

I'm cool with everybody, man. Like, I don't know, maybe not after this interview. No, but I just recently spoke to Kim, not long ago, and, you know, laughed about, you know, old times and shit. Yeah, she's hella cool. She's still.

• 41:41Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 41:42Speaker 02

She's been through a lot, man. Like, that marriage with that fucking retard, bro. I can imagine that takes its toll, because I know other people that have dated him, too. One of them's Amber Rose, who's like, a fucking amazing person. We call her Mama because she's such a motherly person. And, you know, this dude used to like, make her, like, try and dress her, and like, like a doll, like, you know, like, it's a weirdo. I'll never forget Kanye, not to just be on dissing Kanye, but I remember he came in to visit me and Dr. Dre and we're in the studio in the middle of making beats and we were like kind of interrupted, but we were like alright, cool, whatever. And he's like, "I need to take a picture with you guys." So we took a picture with him. It was cool.

• 42:23Speaker 02

He left, left the building, went to like, drove somewhere, came back and said, "My outfit wasn't right. Let me take another picture." And he's like, and me and Dre looked together like, "Fuck, what the fuck is this shit?"

• 42:38Speaker 02

He stormed out of the studio one time later, I was told, I wasn't there with Dre and he said, he called him the devil. He's like, "You're the devil!" And he ran out like-

• 42:47Patrick Bet-David?

  Kanye called Dre the devil?

• 42:48Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah.

• 42:49Patrick Bet-David?

  What prompted that?

• 42:50Speaker 02

I don't fucking know. "You're making devil music for me" or something. I guess he was on his holy kick at that point.

• 42:57Patrick Bet-David?

You're making this, you're making devil music for me with Dre? Huh.

• 43:01Speaker 02

The world's never heard these stories. I'm just letting it rip today. Fuck it.

• 43:04Patrick Bet-David?

  Good.

• 43:05Speaker 02

Yeah. Everybody's gonna be pissed at me. Who cares?

• 43:07Patrick Bet-David?

  Well, I mean-

• 43:07Speaker 02

I'm like the grumpy old man.

• 43:13Patrick Bet-David?

But, by the way, did you ever watch the movie Straight Outta Compton?

• 43:16Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 43:17Patrick Bet-David?

  What'd you think about it?

• 43:19Speaker 02

It was cool. It was cool. I mean, you know, it's a Hollywood movie, you know? A lot of this shit gets-

• 43:26Patrick Bet-David?

  Exaggerated a little bit?

• 43:27Speaker 02

I don't know. Can be, yeah. But I mean, those guys like, they're forefathers of rap music and

• 43:36Speaker 02

the independent record label and shit like that, like, there's many things about that, like, that changed the face of music. Dre is a beast, that's all I can say. He knows, some people know how to start a record, he knows how to finish a record. There's another producer like that, Lou Bell, who does all Post Malone shit. So, super talented guy, super organized, like, almost reminds me of, uh, what's the guy, Ten Minutes to Wapner, um, Rain Man.

• 44:02Patrick Bet-David?

  Rain Man.

• 44:03Speaker 02

Like, he's fucking Rain Man. The guy's so intense. Lou Bell, yeah, that guy. He's another, like, in a different way, but like, that level of that Dre's at, but knowing how to finish a record. He does like, um, him and Andrew Wyatt, they do, they do like all the Post Malone shit. He's a modern day genius. But um, where did I got off off track?

• 44:27Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, you were talking about Kanye, you were talking about Kim, Paris. You know, how that whole thing came about and pulling up in a Bugatti, the Ford One.

• 44:38Speaker 02

Ralph Lauren beat me. I think the first two were not sold, but it was car number four of that.

• 44:44Adam Sosnick?

And in this whole Dre situation, you're in the studio and all this, when does Snoop come into your situation?

• 44:49Speaker 02

Bro, very early. That was one of the coolest things.

• 44:51Adam Sosnick?

Yeah, well, tell us about Snoop.

• 44:53Speaker 02

  He's awesome. He's awesome, bro.

• 44:58Speaker 02

I consider myself, like, you know, a lot of people are like, "Yeah, I'm cool with Snoop." Me and him are pals, like, we're cool, like, he's always showing me love. And he's such a humble guy. I remember one time I went to his house in Claremont back in the day and um, he's um, one of my mug shots, that's nice. And he um-

• 45:15Patrick Bet-David?

What are you gonna pull on mug shots?

• 45:17Speaker 02

No, one of um, he was like sweeping up his own house and shit and I was just like, he's just a cool guy, man. Loves to smoke weed.

• 45:24Adam Sosnick?

Snoop was sweeping up his own?

• 45:26Speaker 02

Yeah, I remember. He was just like cleaning up and shit, like.

• 45:28Adam Sosnick?

Good for him. Did you ever film, what did you, what did you produce with Dre and Snoop together?

• 45:34Speaker 02

  Still Dre.

• 45:35Adam Sosnick?

  Still, it's okay.

• 45:35Speaker 02

Yeah, the number one, I think, rap song in the history of music.

• 45:38Adam Sosnick?

And then, in that time period?

• 45:40Speaker 02

But I did stuff on Snoop's albums too. But, but, look, going to these sessions and becoming part of this album that was like, I think there was like a lack of like, where we're going with the sound before I got there. I mean, it was like, cool, and I got there and it's like, all of a sudden, there's this like, not P-Funk thing happening anymore, it's like more orchestral and like, like ominous sounding shit.

• 46:05Speaker 02

That's when we started, like, and like, went into these sessions and

• 46:10Speaker 02

I was meeting people that were like blowing my mind every day, like Snoop was there, this one, I used to get- All these fucking amazing people were there and I never was around famous people like that, other than The Roots, like.

• 46:23Speaker 02

  It was so amazing.

• 46:25Adam Sosnick?

What was the one time when someone walked in, you're like, "Get out of town, this guy's here"? Who was that?

• 46:33Speaker 02

All kinds of weird people. I mean, nobody like, I'm just like, maybe just like thrown off like by certain like Paulie Shore would walk in the studio. Like just random people like who the fuck? He would like take pictures of us.

• 46:45Patrick Bet-David?

  Encino man.

• 46:45Adam Sosnick?

There you go. And then in this time period, death row records. Tupac had recently been killed a few years prior. What was Suge Knight's involvement on this? What stories do you have with Suge?

• 46:58Speaker 02

My Suge stories were a little later. They were like,

• 47:03Speaker 02

seven, eight years later, but, you know.

• 47:08Speaker 02

There's good and bad in everybody, but I know that,

• 47:14Speaker 02

you know, I don't know what happened, uh, cause I wasn't there like between him and Dre and all that shit. So I can only speculate, but,

• 47:22Speaker 02

I was living in LA in,

• 47:25Speaker 02

Ted Fields' house that was prior to me, we living in this area called the Summit. Like really prestigious gated community. And if you know anything about LA, you want to be in Beverly Park, where Rod Stewart and all these people live in, or the Summit.

• 47:41Patrick Bet-David?

  The Summit in Woodland Hills?

• 47:43Speaker 02

No, the Summit is, um, in Beverly Hills.

• 47:47Patrick Bet-David?

  Okay.

• 47:47Speaker 02

Yeah. And like everybody lived in there. I mean, countless people. Van Halen, all these people like in there. And I was in there and this is like a replica of,

• 48:01Speaker 02

I think it was like the Prince of Monaco's house, some crazy fucking house like, and I rented it like, and, and I, one day I'm like coming back, like maybe the third or fourth day,

• 48:15Speaker 02

living in there, I see Suge and his son walking in. I was like, Suge lives in here. Interesting. So he noticed me and then like randomly we ended up like hanging and,

• 48:29Speaker 02

yeah, I mean, I don't know. It is what it is. It was a bittersweet relationship, but you know, I still got love for him. He is the guy that got Tupac out of jail and blessed us with that for the world like, but, um, you were mentioning something earlier about, uh, what's my funniest Suge story? Suge and I went to Vegas one time together.

• 48:52Speaker 02

And checked into the Cosmo. And I was in a room under his name. He got the rooms.

• 49:01Patrick Bet-David?

This has got to be the last fifteen years because Cosmo is fifteen years old.

• 49:04Speaker 02

  Yeah. And um.

• 49:08Speaker 02

There's a knock at the door. Security. I'm like, what the fuck's going on? There's an unpaid minibar bill. I'm like, what the fuck? What's going on? Obviously, I'm a fuck up at this point. I'm completely out of my mind on drugs. Coke, ecstasy, and fucking everything. And unpaid. But I was like, okay, I'll go down and pay it. This and that. They just had got's for fucking sugar.

• 49:34Speaker 02

And I'm taken down, not to the front desk to pay this minibar bill. But I'm taken to a holding cell. Mind you, I had like bags and when they knocked on the door, I grabbed it and put it in here. As soon as um. I was a fucking idiot. I was like, can I have a tissue? And I took one of the bags. I was putting the bag in the tissue and threw it in the garbage. A cop comes running in. We got it. And I was off to jail. In PC. Handcuffed to a tranny.

• 50:05Speaker 02

For like two days. And um. He finally shook, bailed me out. And um. Then he got arrested for, I think, throwing a bag of McDonald's out the window of my Bentley Mulsanne. And it was just the most random shit, like, yeah, on the same train. We're like, let's get the fuck out of here, bro. And it was just one of those moments. It was such a dysfunctional moment. But, you know, we'll just say that he and I were not on our like. Best level of our lives.

• 50:34Patrick Bet-David?

Scott, how did you? How did you get into the whole like? Once, the first time you did coke, how old were you? Like, when you started getting into it?

• 50:41Speaker 02

It was the year, I think, I'm two thousand and six.

• 50:44Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, so ninety nine, you're doing stuff with Drake, you're doing nothing.

• 50:47Speaker 02

  Nothing my whole life.

• 50:48Patrick Bet-David?

  You're clean.

• 50:48Speaker 02

I told you, I was introduced to a certain life when I fucking. I'm not blaming her. I'm just saying that life introduced me to drugs.

• 50:57Patrick Bet-David?

So first time you did it, who was it with?

• 51:01Speaker 02

  Use your imagination.

• 51:02Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, okay, so the first time we guys, okay, the two of you together, got it. And then from there, was it like zero to hundred million like this?

• 51:11Speaker 02

It was fucking fun. What do you mean in terms of?

• 51:14Patrick Bet-David?

How quickly did you go through the hundred million dollars? Party and the Fast Life, the X, the coke. Did it last a few years?

• 51:20Speaker 02

A couple of months, million a month, like, you know, three million. No, I was going for a minute, like, I was living great. But like, I was, I said this like recently, but I, I was a collector of things like

• 51:34Speaker 02

tchotchkes, whatever, you know what that is?

• 51:35Adam Sosnick?

  Tchotchkes, yeah.

• 51:36Speaker 02

Yeah, tchotchkes, like Schwarzkies, Yajros, La Leaks, this and that. Pieces of art, planes, boats, you know? Um, anything. I had thirty cars, you know, whatever it is, I liked, was like.

• 51:52Patrick Bet-David?

  Thirty cars?

• 51:53Speaker 02

Yeah. I remember Mike Gordon, the guy that owned the Fort Lauderdale collection, he sent me home one day. He said, "You have everything, get the fuck out of here." I was like, "What's that classic back there?" "It's a Cuda, I'll take it." And he kicked me out the door. I was like, "No, I want it, I want it."

• 52:10Adam Sosnick?

And who was in your corner at this point that being like, "Scott, pump the brakes"?

• 52:14Speaker 02

Hmm, my financial guy who said I was unmanageable.

• 52:19Speaker 02

Yeah. I would buy shit sometimes just to like prove to myself that like I was like a human, like I was cool, because I, to make up for the like low self-esteem for knowing what I was doing with drugs.

• 52:33Adam Sosnick?

So you knew what you were doing was wrong, but you overcompensated with material items? Is that what you're saying?

• 52:38Speaker 02

I guess, yeah, I would like be fucking up for three days and feel like a piece of shit, feel like an animal.

• 52:47Speaker 02

And like I would order like four cars, like just like make myself feel better.

• 52:52Patrick Bet-David?

  What did you buy, like?

• 52:53Speaker 02

Anything. SLRs, Astons, this, that, the other, whatever was cool at the time. Merciello's.

• 53:01Patrick Bet-David?

Tell me about your upbringing, mom and dad, relationship, who are you closer?

• 53:07Speaker 02

Not really close with my parents. I mean, I love my mom, I love my dad, I just lost my dad.

• 53:12Patrick Bet-David?

  Sorry to hear.

• 53:13Speaker 02

  I kinda like grew up

• 53:16Speaker 02

not understanding the dynamic of my parents' relationship. And I was like always like as a kid blaming my dad because

• 53:26Speaker 02

they broke up and like this and that, but then I realized they're both humans. My mom was nagging the shit out of them. She was like uh Bayside Queens, ah, it sounded like Fran Drescher just like bitching at you all the time. Hypochondriac and just, but I love her. She's a great heart, you know, she's got she's like, you know what Mother's Little Helper is, the song um from the Rolling Stones? About Valium?

• 53:53Speaker 02

Forty years of Valium, fifty years of Valium does something to your brain.

• 53:57Patrick Bet-David?

  Wow.

• 53:58Speaker 02

Yeah. And then combine that with after my dad, she was with a Frank DeMaio, the famous hitman. And uh

• 54:07Patrick Bet-David?

  She was with Frank DeMaio?

• 54:08Speaker 02

  Yeah. Like she was like

• 54:10Patrick Bet-David?

  The Frank DeMaio?

• 54:11Speaker 02

No, there's Roy DeMaio, there's a bunch of them, but like, yeah, this guy's from Sheepset Bay, Brooklyn, and he was a hitman. His father was Underboss Jimmy DeMaio. And there's quite a few DeMaios in the mafia world, but like, this guy um I remember like, she's like, why don't you go with Frankie and like, you know, you bond with him and this and that. This guy was a racist fucking asshole. But like, I remember he takes me I'm like eleven or twelve. He takes me to uh the hardware store. He wanted to get a nozzle for the hose. And he's like, has a stack of money like this in his pocket and he's like, thirteen dollars, fuck that, and he puts it in his pants. Don't tell your mother. Then we go from there to uh his house. He was living in our garden apartment in Inverary

• 54:56Speaker 02

at the time, but like he was like, we gotta stop by my house where he was selling coke out of, I guess or whatever. And all of a sudden I hear, I'm waiting in the car, it's like

• 55:06Speaker 02

and he lived on a baseball field. I remember seeing him chasing some guys that were probably robbing his drug spot or something in there and like firing guns at him and shit. And he's like like all this crazy shit. I was just like don't tell your mother none of this. I'm like, holy shit.

• 55:22Patrick Bet-David?

  Is this Roy DeMaio?

• 55:24Speaker 02

  No, Frank DeMaio.

• 55:25Patrick Bet-David?

  Frank DeMaio?

• 55:26Speaker 02

  Yeah, he was like

• 55:28Speaker 02

Uh, you know the expression, a knock around guy?

• 55:32Speaker 02

A knock around guy is like the low level gangster guy. His father was an underboss, he was the shit, like he was, you know, this guy was like, um,

• 55:44Speaker 02

um, again, like you could probably find shit about this guy for sure. He was involved, when my mom met him, he was like running the Tin Lizzie. It's like one of these restaurants in Fort Lauderdale and Bobby Rubino, all these guys were involved.

• 55:58Adam Sosnick?

Bobby Rubino, the place for ribs?

• 56:00Speaker 02

Yeah, these are like fucking mafia spots, bro.

• 56:02Adam Sosnick?

  Really?

• 56:03Speaker 02

Fuck yeah. Fucking cash cows, but, um, so, yeah, like, that was like, that was one of the reasons why I moved in with my dad, like, because I remember like, one of my first experiences of trying to make music, I was doing anything I could, these kids that were like, new edition cover band, we were called the Omni Five, and it was like four brothers and me. And like, I remember he came home and it's like hot Florida day and there's like five brothers in the living room with no shirts on, and he's like, "Get the fuck out of here, your mom's in here." I'm like, "So?", like, whatever. I was like, "Man, fuck this, I'm going to my dad." We were doing my dad, and then he moved to Philly.

• 56:42Patrick Bet-David?

How old were you when you lived with dad?

• 56:44Speaker 02

  Fifteen.

• 56:45Patrick Bet-David?

And mom didn't mind? She didn't have problem?

• 56:48Speaker 02

I mean, part of it like also was like she broke up with that guy too, before that, and then like she didn't, because I was gonna go back and live with her again after that, but she couldn't, she lost her alimony because he moved in with us in February, so she moved in with her parents, who live in Lauderdale West, and there was no room for me, so I stuck it out with my dad. I didn't want to move to Philly, but I'm glad I did. Everything happens for a reason, it's all written in the stone.

• 57:14Patrick Bet-David?

So you were closer to pops?

• 57:17Speaker 02

I became, you know, like I said, like I, I wasn't thrilled with him, but he was definitely a more, a stable parent, like, you know what I mean? His thing was the ponies, he liked, uh, he liked to play, like, you know.

• 57:32Patrick Bet-David?

  Horse races?

• 57:32Speaker 02

"I got a new system, I've got the sheets and the this and that", like, always like, um... Look, casinos don't make money from the buffet.

• 57:42Patrick Bet-David?

So, so was, was the, was the chaos from your upbringing something that put the fire in your belly to keep competing at the highest levels to kind of prove value to yourself? Was it kind of like, when you're talking about you just bought four cars, like, you know, you're like, every time I wanted to find-

• 58:00Speaker 02

You're insecure, like, yeah. You know what's so funny, though? I'm gonna come back to what you just said. Lately, my motto has been, "You don't need to have a Ferrari. Be the Ferrari." You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm like, I'm potent when I talk to a girl, like, I feel like, I don't need all that shit. I don't need this. I mean, I have things, but like, I typically don't, I don't like even like really like, that shit doesn't matter anymore to me. Name brands and shit, I'd rather wear a black t-shirt and, you know?

• 58:30Patrick Bet-David?

Your son sitting to your left, the weird life you've lived, what advice are you giving him? I mean, you're open about it, so it's not like you're, you know, he knows that-

• 58:39Speaker 02

He's giving me advice. What the fuck kind of shit? This kid, his work ethic is so crazy. Like, he'll, he'll be working before you wake up and working when you go to sleep.

• 58:50Patrick Bet-David?

  I love that.

• 58:51Speaker 02

  He's that dude.

• 58:52Patrick Bet-David?

  I love that.

• 58:52Speaker 02

And he absorbed this shit, like, he's, he's another alien and such a good soul, so.

• 59:00Adam Sosnick?

Does it come natural to him how it came natural to you? Did you teach him? How does that work?

• 59:04Speaker 02

  I didn't teach him shit.

• 59:05Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah?

• 59:07Speaker 02

Yep. He's just passionate. Like I said, anything you do, if you do it for passion and not for money and like, you get good at it, then, and fucking money just comes from that. Like, me and him, like, made, we're making records together. Like, all the shit I do now, I do with my son.

• 59:25Patrick Bet-David?

But, by the way, what's the business model? When you say you went through a hundred million dollars, that means you had to make a couple hundred million dollars. What is the business model in being a producer? Because you said when you first went to Dre, he gave you ten thousand dollars, hotel and things like that, right?

• 59:40Speaker 02

The publishing, the revenue streams that come from that, there's so many. There's songwriter's share, neighboring rights, publishing, ad cap-

• 59:48Patrick Bet-David?

Can you give an example? Like, what song that you wrote, that, that you, you produced? What gave you the, what one song gave you the most income?

• 59:58Speaker 02

These are all like huge. I made some of the biggest records.

• 1:00:01Patrick Bet-David?

Give me one of them. Like you said, off this one song, off this album, I made, you know, six point eight million dollars.

• 1:00:07Speaker 02

I made the most money when I went to Florida in the mid two thousands because I was doing, it wasn't like I was splitting and making the records with like a bunch of people. I was doing them by myself, all of them, all of them. Beyonce's records, huge. Um, Mario, let me love you, lean back, make it rain.

• 1:00:29Patrick Bet-David?

What does a Mario let me love you make you?

• 1:00:31Speaker 02

  Millions.

• 1:00:32Patrick Bet-David?

  Millions?

• 1:00:32Speaker 02

  Yeah, still.

• 1:00:34Patrick Bet-David?

  Till today, you're getting residuals.

• 1:00:36Speaker 02

Yeah, there's income streams, like I said, for a publisher, for somebody like Blackstone, who's trying to buy a catalog, they're gonna pay at most for like these new catalogs, because they, after a while, they go spike and that's it, ten X, twelve X.

• 1:00:54Patrick Bet-David?

Ten X whatever in the world is.

• 1:00:56Speaker 02

My catalog, twenty-five thirty X, because they know they ain't gonna get it. Because, like Dre just sold his catalog for two hundred million to Warner, or Universal, excuse me.

• 1:01:12Speaker 02

And I remember him telling me like,

• 1:01:14Patrick Bet-David?

  That's it?

• 1:01:15Speaker 02

Why? Well, I, because I told him something about my catalog and he's like, yo, you should sell it, this, that, the other. Um, I said, why? I thought you're supposed to give it so you have generational wealth. He's like, fuck that. I'm, I'm like, he's like, I'm, you know, this, this age and this and that. And like, my kids aren't gonna know how to do anything with this catalog or like, you know, really market it and like, he's like, and I asked my lawyer, how old will I be to get two hundred million out of this catalog? And he said, I think he was like a hundred and thirty years old. And he's like, fuck that, I'm gonna use this money while I'm on earth and turn it in, buy real estate, do something great with it. He was concerned that if I sell a catalog like that, I'm gonna blow it.

• 1:01:58Speaker 02

He's like, are you gonna blow it? Because that's it, like, so. He said, if you're not gonna blow it, invest it, sell it.

• 1:02:06Patrick Bet-David?

So on here that Dre's catalog was making ten million a year annually and they bought it for two fifty. So if that's the case, they paid twenty-five X for it?

• 1:02:16Speaker 02

  My, my point exactly.

• 1:02:17Patrick Bet-David?

Wow. Wha- what's the story about the fact that, uh, uh, uh, Suge bought one of your catalogs for four hundred and nineteen thousand dollars and some change? What, what is that story? I think I read that somewhere.

• 1:02:30Speaker 02

No, that's not true. None of that. Don't believe in that shit.

• 1:02:32Patrick Bet-David?

You know which one I'm talking about?

• 1:02:33Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was not him. He was involved in, um, not that catalog, not that big catalog or anything, but like it was, uh...

• 1:02:41Patrick Bet-David?

Four nineteen, three oh six twenty.

• 1:02:43Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:02:44Patrick Bet-David?

Four hundred and nineteen thousand, three hundred and six dollars and twenty cents.

• 1:02:48Speaker 02

  That's not true.

• 1:02:49Patrick Bet-David?

I'm trying to see, maybe I misread this.

• 1:02:51Speaker 02

No, it was, it was, it was a, a company called Royalty Advanced Company. It wasn't the publishing catalog.

• 1:02:56Patrick Bet-David?

... in two thousand and religion, that's a scoster struggling financial... ... intimidation by Suge Knight signing to a portion of the songwriting royalties into a troubled period two thousand and twelve?

• 1:03:07Speaker 02

  Yeah, no.

• 1:03:07Patrick Bet-David?

Music royalties consulting? That's not true.

• 1:03:09Speaker 02

  No, no, no.

• 1:03:10Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, okay. Because I remember when I, when I talked to Vanilla Ice, Vanilla Ice told me when Suge held him over the, you know, balcony, you know, you better sign this or else and, you know, how much truth is that story? He's like, "No, it kinda happened." You know, he, he took a complete different angle.

• 1:03:24Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:03:25Patrick Bet-David?

  With Suge.

• 1:03:26Adam Sosnick?

Do you doubt that Suge would do that with his reputation?

• 1:03:28Patrick Bet-David?

Well, listen, I remember one time, I'm hanging out with Reggie Callaway. I don't know if you know Reggie Callaway. You know?

• 1:03:34Adam Sosnick?

  Reggie Callaway?

• 1:03:35Patrick Bet-David?

  J. King. Reggie Callaway was, "I wanna be rich." He sang.

• 1:03:38Adam Sosnick?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:03:39Patrick Bet-David?

"Cassano..." You know, Reggie Callaway. He sang at my wedding.

• 1:03:42Adam Sosnick?

  Cassano was a lover.

• 1:03:43Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, of course. Yeah, he sang, uh, uh, he sang at the wedding. "I wanna be rich." But, uh, uh, "No parking on the dance floor." I think that's him. Anyways, J. King was with Club Nuvoo. Do you remember Club Nuvoo? "Look at all these rumors."

• 1:03:55Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:03:55Patrick Bet-David?

Okay. So J., J. becomes an insurance agent.

• 1:03:59Speaker 02

They also did the "Lean on me."

• 1:04:00Patrick Bet-David?

Yes, yes, yes. He did another one called "Why You Treat Me So Bad." That was my favorite song from those guys. J. King. Till today, I listen to it.

• 1:04:07Speaker 02

  You know your shit, man.

• 1:04:08Patrick Bet-David?

"Why You Treat Me So Bad." I remember J. and I were, we spent a lot of time together. So I say, "J., you gotta get into insurance. There's a lot of money." "All right, man, I'll go get my license." He gets his insurance license. "J., you gotta learn how to sell insurance. You gotta put me in front of some people." Says, "Perfect." First person he puts me in front of is Suge Knight.

• 1:04:25Speaker 02

  That's crazy.

• 1:04:26Patrick Bet-David?

This guy's not gonna get a proof of life insurance, Jay.

• 1:04:28Speaker 02

I gotta tell you a funny story about the insurance.

• 1:04:31Patrick Bet-David?

He brought you to Shug Night? He brought, Jay King introduced me to Shug Night at, I think Jay can correct me on this. He'll call me, was that the Four Seasons Beverly Hills? Or one of the...

• 1:04:40Speaker 02

  Martin Way.

• 1:04:41Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, I don't know which one it was.

• 1:04:42Speaker 02

He used to love to hang there.

• 1:04:43Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:43Speaker 02

That was Shug's spot. What was that interaction like?

• 1:04:47Patrick Bet-David?

Hey, listen, I've had a handful of interactions with him.

• 1:04:52Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:04:52Patrick Bet-David?

Minus when he calls me from prison, he says, yo, just so you know, the, the, P, you need to know this, the hook fucks with you. This is what Shug said. I'm like, I wanna do a podcast with you, man. I'm like, alright, cool, let's do it. And then we did a nice little...

• 1:05:04Speaker 02

There's a very loving side of him.

• 1:05:06Patrick Bet-David?

  Very interesting side.

• 1:05:07Speaker 02

I had a Thanksgiving with him one time. You know, it's a complex character in the movie. Like, you can't quite figure it out. That's basically him.

• 1:05:13Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:14Speaker 02

But, you were saying about insurance, I'll tell you some funny shit. You know, like, when I lived on Palm Island, no, I was living on La Solis at the time. I hired a caterer last minute. I was like, I need fucking thirty people catering, this and that. This guy named Seth Cohen, um, is the caterer, he's serving drinks at my thing. And like, I'm on top of the world. Go flash forward to like, my fall. They reach out to me, this guy Seth Cohen, he's like, by the way, I'm rich as fuck now, like, and I wanna hire you to make some music for my... It was Brad Cohen, actually, his brother, that, he wanted me to make music for his wife and his kids, or whatever the hell it was. And put some money in my pocket.

• 1:05:55Speaker 02

This guy went from being my caterer, to being a member of the Alfalfa Club, to being like, Insurance Care Direct.

• 1:06:04Patrick Bet-David?

  Is this guy?

• 1:06:05Speaker 02

  No, that's the lawyer.

• 1:06:07Patrick Bet-David?

Insurance Care Direct, type in Insurance Care Direct.

• 1:06:10Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:06:11Patrick Bet-David?

  Go to Images Rap.

• 1:06:15Speaker 02

Brad and Seth, these guys blew the fuck up from an office that was smaller than, half the size of this room, bro. And just sweated that shit out. And now they're buying up all the crown jewels of fucking Fort Lauderdale, the Anheuser-Busch house. There's one by one, they're just buying them all, like...

• 1:06:34Patrick Bet-David?

  Good for these guys.

• 1:06:35Speaker 02

  Yeah, they fucking crushed them.

• 1:06:36Patrick Bet-David?

  I mean, look...

• 1:06:37Speaker 02

Now Seth is like doing AI, uh, insurance sales, he's like, was, before anybody could even think of it, he's got the patent on it.

• 1:06:44Patrick Bet-David?

It's a lot of money in insurance.

• 1:06:45Speaker 02

  Bro, he's doing...

• 1:06:47Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:47Speaker 02

Imagine AI, insur... I, he played me both sides of an AI call.

• 1:06:54Speaker 02

Of insurance, it was way better than a human. Like, you know, you ask this thing and it's gonna answer you the right information concise, clear, at the right tempo, aesthetically pleasing to the ear. Like, I was like, what the fuck?

• 1:07:09Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:09Speaker 02

Like, your whole, like, workforce is like, gonna be like-

• 1:07:12Patrick Bet-David?

  It's gonna change.

• 1:07:13Speaker 02

  Gone.

• 1:07:14Patrick Bet-David?

The call center's gone with AI. But, by the way-

• 1:07:17Speaker 02

Increase your shit eighty percent, like-

• 1:07:20Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, the game has changed. And insurance, there's a lot of money in it. Scott, did you ever do anything with Mariah Carey or no?

• 1:07:26Speaker 02

  Yes, that was my home.

• 1:07:27Patrick Bet-David?

  How was, how was she?

• 1:07:28Speaker 02

She's awesome, bro. First of all, we made a song called Side Effects about Tommy Mottola. That was like, and I've worked with her with Jadakiss, I did the song, K.

• 1:07:38Patrick Bet-David?

  Jadakiss.

• 1:07:39Speaker 02

I S S. Yeah, we did that. But Mariah used to call me and do like crank calls and like do Jerky Boys impressions. Yes, this is me, Kissel or Saul Rosenberg.

• 1:07:52Patrick Bet-David?

  Saul Rosenberg.

• 1:07:52Speaker 02

Fucking funny as hell. She's awesome, bro. She's the fucking diva.

• 1:07:56Patrick Bet-David?

  Saul-

• 1:07:57Speaker 02

  Saul Rosenberg.

• 1:07:58Adam Sosnick?

What was the difference between working with someone like her versus someone like Beyonce? Both beautiful, both talented.

• 1:08:02Speaker 02

Bro, I mean, they're both different, you know. One is-

• 1:08:05Patrick Bet-David?

  Mariah Carey's voice-

• 1:08:06Speaker 02

More country and like, um, more hood and then like, and just like real. She's a diva. Like, she has Park Avenue right there.

• 1:08:17Patrick Bet-David?

But let me tell you though, Mariah Carey's voice is truly something else.

• 1:08:22Speaker 02

  Insane.

• 1:08:23Patrick Bet-David?

Honestly, like, you got, if we ran a poll right now, what's the greatest voice of all time? You would hear Whitney Houston.

• 1:08:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:08:30Patrick Bet-David?

You would hear Freddie Mercury. Elvis is probably gonna be on that list.

• 1:08:35Speaker 02

  Steve-

• 1:08:35Patrick Bet-David?

Steve Perry is gonna be on that list, right?

• 1:08:38Adam Sosnick?

  Bobbi Streisand.

• 1:08:39Speaker 02

I think, uh, Lou Gramm from Foreigner as well.

• 1:08:42Patrick Bet-David?

Oh my God, I wanna know what love is. Yeah, I mean, those guys, eighties for sure.

• 1:08:47Speaker 02

  Daryl Hall.

• 1:08:47Patrick Bet-David?

  You, you-

• 1:08:48Speaker 02

  Oh, Hall and Oates.

• 1:08:49Patrick Bet-David?

You have to. You have to, I'm looking at this list.

• 1:08:52Speaker 02

  Mariah is a beast, bro.

• 1:08:53Patrick Bet-David?

You have to put Mariah on it. By the way, Lady Gaga's got a voice as well. But Mariah Carey's voice, oh-

• 1:08:59Speaker 02

Mario has one of the greatest voices.

• 1:09:01Patrick Bet-David?

  Christina Aguilera, yeah.

• 1:09:03Speaker 02

Nah, I got a funny- She made a song, by the way, called Fuck You Scott Storch. Yeah, I tell you why. I can tell you, that's a funny fucking story. Irving Azoff, fucking special. Is there any chance I can take a five second cigarette break and we'll come back and talk about Irving fucking, they call the poison dwarf, and the, you ever see that book Hitmen? It's about like all their like, early like, um, people in music, like, like the, like the serious like moguls. Oh yeah, you see that. He's one of them.

• 1:11:08Patrick Bet-David?

Right carry is what we were talking about. You were telling the fact that Christina Aguilera wrote a song called F U S S. And I think it means, does it mean what I think it means?

• 1:11:18Speaker 02

  Fuck you.

• 1:11:19Patrick Bet-David?

Fuck you, Scott Storch. Alright, so tell us how this happened.

• 1:11:22Speaker 02

  How did this happen? Okay.

• 1:11:26Speaker 02

I, um, aligned forces with her to make the Stripped album, which sold a ridiculous amount of copies. And I did like, the bulk of the album. And then Linda Perry did some, from Four Non Blond. I don't know if you know who that is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mic a little closer. And I say, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that lady, she wrote, she wrote a bunch. Yeah. Hello? Better? That's really cool. There you go. So, um, yeah, and that album, we killed it. Irving Azoff, being her manager, guy who started like Giant Records and went on to, uh,

• 1:12:08Speaker 02

own Live Nation, and he's like, but you know, I, there's a famous book called Hitmen. This guy? Yeah, that he's referred to as the Poison Dwarf. And his, that name is like accurate. How tall is? For this fucking guy. He's one of them guys. Like, I don't really dog anybody out. I mean, so like Kanye was like, I'm pissed at him for that, but like, I'm really like, I don't really have anything bad to say about anybody. Um, I do this guy. So when I, when I went to do the Poison Dwarf. That's a pretty.

• 1:12:45Adam Sosnick?

Due to his small stature and aggressive even controversial business.

• 1:12:48Speaker 02

If he's what Kanye's talking about, alright, fine, I get it. No, that's fucked up. That's really fucked up. But at any rate, um, this guy, when I went to do this record, they gave me an advance, I think it was like a quarter million, which is a very fair price for me, considering my price tag was eighty per song. I ended up doing seven songs on the album, and I think two interludes as well. Um, the record went crazy. It was her biggest album. All, you know, most of the ones, or half of the songs I did were became hit singles.

• 1:13:28Speaker 02

  Any rate.

• 1:13:30Speaker 02

Now it's like, I was living in LA at that time. Now I'm living in Florida.

• 1:13:35Patrick Bet-David?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:13:36Speaker 02

So. Um. They called to do the next album. And I was like, you know what? In the spirit of good business, I don't want any increase. Just give me the same thing. My manager calls me at the time, Derek Jackson, and says, Scott.

• 1:13:56Speaker 02

This guy said you were lucky to work with her and be involved in such a big album. Not that I helped make the big album and shape the sound and like, I'm like the core and the nucleus of what it was. But he said, he's not giving you any advance. You just come to work and you're lucky you have the opportunity. I said, whoa, whoa, whoa, I don't believe this. I was like, you call him and talk about this stuff. I want to be listening in. So.

• 1:14:22Speaker 02

I'm listening in and he's like going on and on like, yeah, Scott's lucky to be involved with singer like Christina and this and that and like, fuck Scott and you know. You know, he's just trying to like play tough guy with me. I'm over what? Like peanuts? Like two hundred fifty? What the fuck is that? You're gonna blow, you just sold nineteen million copies of this shit. And like, whatever, I got my royalties, that's one, but the actual recoupable producer advance. He was trying to like, you know, be a goalie with it. And I was like, okay, so I'm listening and listening and listening. At one point he's like, fuck Scott and this and that. So I was like, yo, motherfucker, I'm on the phone by the way. And he's like, I was like, here's the deal.

• 1:15:01Speaker 02

I need two million to do the album now, or I'm not doing it. And you need to send fucking Net Jet with a fucking, I think it was at the time, a G4. And like, um, I need the Clive Davis, um, bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel. And I need a per diem every day of a thousand for food on top of all this. And I was just like, fuck you. Okay?

• 1:15:23Speaker 02

Me and Christina were really close. Um, Clive. I've Clive stories too. Um, this is like the fucking, you ever see this show, uh, what is it, um, The Blacklist? With, uh, like about the, what was that guy, um? But anyway, he's just like, yeah. And like every episode is like he's going after somebody else. At any rate, this is like the blacklist today. At any rate, um, so Christina found out about this and this and that and she was just like, uh, fuck Scott, this and that, you know, I'm gonna make the album without him. You know what I mean? She and I were like on the bordering of the romantic side of things and it was like,

• 1:16:07Speaker 02

and it just was just like a lot of like crazy shit. And this guy got between our relationship creatively and friendship wise and turned us against each other, basically. And, um, yeah, he's a real fucking shit.

• 1:16:21Patrick Bet-David?

  What's he doing now?

• 1:16:22Speaker 02

I don't know, he's, he's not in, um, Live Nation anymore. I don't know what the fuck he's doing. But I remember his daughter was like the assistant on the album. She was cool, Allison. But, um.

• 1:16:35Patrick Bet-David?

So that was the end of it, would you and Christina?

• 1:16:36Speaker 02

So, yeah, so then the album comes out and, um, it didn't go platinum, it went wood. That shit was like a disaster. She went from like eighteen million copies to like two or something crazy. Yeah, man, it was like.

• 1:16:54Adam Sosnick?

And then she fell off the map.

• 1:16:56Speaker 02

Yeah, but there was included in that a song called Fuck You Scott Sturz.

• 1:17:01Patrick Bet-David?

What's the lyrics? Can you go to it? I wanna know what she says in that.

• 1:17:04Speaker 02

  I mean.

• 1:17:05Patrick Bet-David?

Is she, what is she saying?

• 1:17:06Speaker 02

She basically lists all the songs in a lyric of that we did.

• 1:17:10Patrick Bet-David?

I knew who you were. I see how you're learning. It was a bridge. Now I was the first to believe I made you part of me as a dream and your thanks to me came without an apology. You, we wrote Lovin' For Me, Don't Walk Away, Can't Hold Us Down. Now, this sounds like you guys have an intimate relationship.

• 1:17:27Adam Sosnick?

  Sounds like a scorned lover.

• 1:17:28Speaker 02

We used to lay down together at night. It wasn't really that, not physical or anything, but like we became like those friends that are like teetering on.

• 1:17:37Patrick Bet-David?

  Like dry hump.

• 1:17:37Speaker 02

Making out and shit, yeah, I don't know, whatever the fuck it was. But I don't know, she was into some weird shit, like.

• 1:17:42Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:42Speaker 02

When we met and we're making this album, a lot of this music was inspired by, she was. With this guy named, I think his name was George, he was like one of the dancers and he was gay. And she wanted him to be straight. And it was just like a fucking weird.

• 1:17:56Adam Sosnick?

Hard to turn that thing around.

• 1:17:57Speaker 02

Yeah, like I think she was like, one of those people that like tried to turn gay people.

• 1:18:02Adam Sosnick?

  Dated her back.

• 1:18:02Patrick Bet-David?

She wanted, she wanted a challenge.

• 1:18:04Adam Sosnick?

That's tough. Scott, this brings up a very good question. You know, Pat always talks about, if you're building a championship team, right? Who's the most important piece? Is it the GM? Is it the coach? Is it the star players? The front office, right? If you're making a hit record, you have the producer. You have the artist, right? The singer, the rapper, what have you. You have the record label.

• 1:18:24Speaker 02

  Here's why.

• 1:18:24Adam Sosnick?

  You have the marketing team.

• 1:18:25Speaker 02

  There's a great area. I'm gonna, I know what you're saying.

• 1:18:27Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:29Speaker 02

The role of the producer, who really is the guy that puts the shit together, has changed. That the definition of that word has changed. Now the producer is some guy who makes a fucking beat and sends it on a CD. Back in the day, the producer like me is the guy that sees the whole thing through, makes sure that you have the right writer, you have the right conviction and emotion coming out of the vocals. You have the guys finishing it, the guy, and he's just a real producer. Like, back in the day, George Martin was the producer of The Beatles. But he wasn't really making the music, he was just guiding them and like putting that special sauce on it.

• 1:19:10Speaker 02

Of these songs that they did. So it's like, it's a different thing, but ultimately, the most vital piece of, um, an artist or like, you know, what's behind the artist? A is the artist themselves, the manager. I think the producer for sure, because he's like creating this, you know, setting the tone. Um, and then the guys at the label that know how to like sell it. You know what I mean?

• 1:19:44Patrick Bet-David?

They know how to sell it.

• 1:19:45Speaker 02

Yeah, they know how to put it in the right places.

• 1:19:48Patrick Bet-David?

Scott, Diddy parties, all the stuff that Diddy's going through, any, did you have a close relationship? You were in the Palm, so you're in Miami, he's down here, what was your relationship with Diddy?

• 1:20:00Speaker 02

He was on Star, I was on Palm, and we were cool, like, you know, we were like comrades, so to speak, like, we were, you know, cool. I was invited to all the parties and this and that, but I wasn't staying late at those parties, because I would leave for my parties, which were, you know,

• 1:20:18Speaker 02

potent as well, but I wasn't like, there was no like swinger shit or fucking.

• 1:20:24Patrick Bet-David?

  You didn't have swinger stuff?

• 1:20:25Speaker 02

No, I don't, I'm the only dick in the room, I don't like, I'm not into that weird shit, like, I don't wanna like, have no part of that. But there were some bad bitches in my house, and, you know, excessive everything, and, you know, I remember like, you know, my, my house was more like, um, the Wolf of Wall Street type vibes, it was like, I don't know.

• 1:20:49Speaker 02

There was no weird shit going on, but I didn't really see any weird shit at Diddy's, because it was just, to me, it seemed like everybody was having a great time, and he was the provider of an amazing event that everybody wanted to get into, and like, all the time, and spared no expense with fireworks and all kinds of shit. And all the ambulance people, I was one of the few people who was allowed to go in the house and during one of these parties, most people are just like left outside, huge people.

• 1:21:16Patrick Bet-David?

  Whose house is that, Rob?

• 1:21:18Speaker 02

  That was mine.

• 1:21:20Patrick Bet-David?

  Oh, that's your house?

• 1:21:20Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:21:21Patrick Bet-David?

  It's nice.

• 1:21:22Speaker 02

Yeah, I was the first buyer of that, it's called the Villa Ferrari, a bunch of builders like got into a fight, and like, there was like, I had to finish the house, at any rate, oh, yeah.

• 1:21:38Adam Sosnick?

So at these Diddy parties, you get invited into the house. Not many people get into the house.

• 1:21:42Speaker 02

Yeah, but again, I was there at a time when there was nothing even remotely.

• 1:21:47Adam Sosnick?

So when you hear these stories, you're like, what?

• 1:21:49Speaker 02

Like, I was the weirdest guy in the party. I felt like I was the biggest fucking, like, piece of shit in the party. Because I wasn't even fucking hiding in the media room doing, like, coke and stuff. You know what I mean? And I remember Diddy looking at me and he's like, "What does that stuff make you feel like?" And it was me and another famous producer in there. And we were like trying to explain it to him. But I guess over time, like, he was probably introduced, I don't know for sure, but he or kept things around for people that wanted it.

• 1:22:12Adam Sosnick?

But at this time, you're saying that Diddy didn't even know what coke was. Like, he wasn't doing any drugs.

• 1:22:16Speaker 02

He was joking around with us, but like, he was like, kind of looking at us like, "What does that shit make y'all feel like?" And this and that. Like, it was just like, he was like this innocent type vibe.

• 1:22:25Adam Sosnick?

But like, meaning he didn't do drugs?

• 1:22:28Speaker 02

I think he was doing like, probably ecstasy and Molly. That was more socially acceptable at that time. Even though later we learned that leaves like, holes in your brain and like, robs you of your serotonin and shit like that. But, look. Here's my take on the Diddy thing. Forget about the parties.

• 1:22:48Speaker 02

Who Diddy is, who they're trying to make him out to be. I said this just recently, I'll say it again. There's no excuse to hit a woman. I've never put my hands on a woman my whole life unless I was smacking her on the ass while I'm fucking her. Alright? There's, I've never gotten to that stage where I'll just walk away like, "I'm not gonna get into a fight with you." Like, you're not gonna, like, I've had girls that got violent with me, like, I'm like, "No. Goodbye. See ya. I'm not part of that." So, who knows what the hell was going on during that? So there's no excuse for that. To me, it looks like motherfuckers were up for like, three days, doing some fucked up drug. And it was like, not who he is, is now this like, drugged up,

• 1:23:33Speaker 02

dopamine version of what Diddy is. And like,

• 1:23:38Speaker 02

that shit somehow happened. I don't think he's somebody who just beats women up. He's not like Jake LaMotta or some shit like, whatever the case is, um. He, um, that was that. As far as them saying to, like, that.

• 1:23:55Speaker 02

He's a sex trafficker. To me, sex trafficking is selling pussy, right? I think if anything, he was like buying it and like just having girls on deck and putting them on a fucking Gulfstream and going over state lines. That's not cool, like to call somebody like a sex trafficker, like whatever the fuck. Nobody was having a problem with eating caviar with him and taking his money. Like, so I don't think that's fair. I think that Rico, you gotta have more than one name there. I just think that if you try and go up against liquor, oil, um, you know,

• 1:24:34Speaker 02

like all the, you know, firearms, tobacco, all these things, like you're gonna have some fucking problems. That's the real fucking Illuminati. And he went up against Diageo and said, I could do my own Ciroc. And like, they were like, oh, yeah?

• 1:24:51Speaker 02

They dropped a bomb on his ass. The, the, the, um, the crime doesn't fit the punishment.

• 1:25:01Speaker 02

I still have my pictures up of Diddy on my Instagram. Now, disappointed, yeah, that he put his hands on a woman. I'll forgive. If I find out that he did something to a little kid or did some like pedophile shit, which I don't think they're gonna find because I don't think that's who he is. I don't get that from him. I don't, whatever pictures they're trying to paint from him is this devious guy. I mean, whatever, like, he's gangster for sure. Like, he's definitely like, he's from New York. Like, he's not a pussy.

• 1:25:35Speaker 02

Is he a homosexual, bisexual? Everybody's trying to push that. Is he a cuck? Which is like, like watching other... I, I, I wasn't in the room. I do know I felt like at one point he tried to flirt with me and shit and I was like, I'm, I'm good on that type shit.

• 1:25:52Adam Sosnick?

  Oh, really?

• 1:25:52Speaker 02

Yeah, oh yeah, like, but like-

• 1:25:54Adam Sosnick?

Like, what do you mean, he tried to flirt with you?

• 1:25:56Speaker 02

I'm just gonna leave it simple like that, you know what I mean, that's it.

• 1:25:58Adam Sosnick?

Well, I mean, that's a pretty bold statement, Scott.

• 1:26:00Speaker 02

Bro, it's just, I'm tell, if I'm gonna say it, like, it fucking, you know, it is what it is. He's my homie, man, like-

• 1:26:05Adam Sosnick?

  Gotcha.

• 1:26:06Speaker 02

But like, I just felt like-

• 1:26:07Adam Sosnick?

But there was never any bad beef, there was any, you never saw anything weird?

• 1:26:10Speaker 02

Nah, man, nah, man, nothing but love.

• 1:26:10Adam Sosnick?

When, when you hear the stories about like, well, Usher came to his house for Diddy Flavor Camp and then Justin Bieber showed up. Any rumors in that, anything, any truth to that?

• 1:26:19Speaker 02

Nah, fuck that, man, like, everybody wanted to be around him, he's the fucking flyest dude, like, he made the shit look good. He's in Tommy Mottola's house, which is the sickest shit that he bought, like, on Star Island, like, sick, like, you know, like, Justin was at fucking Molly Maul's house, you know Molly Maul? The guy, he was like, that was like, because he provided this different kind of thing, like, he was in Vegas, in, um, I think, Neil Sedgwick or somebody's-

• 1:26:45Adam Sosnick?

  Neil Sedgwick?

• 1:26:46Speaker 02

Some weird guy's crib, I don't know who it was, um, and he had, he was a pimp, you know what I'm saying? And he had all these broads around and he had a studio and he had like, cool people, he had Pooh Bear around. That was a fun environment, like, you know what I'm saying, what can I say, like, and people wanted to be there too, Bieber wanted to be there. Nobody was taking advantage of Bieber, Bieber knew what the fuck he was doing, he was trying to hang out, that's it. That's all I think.

• 1:27:14Adam Sosnick?

  The Beavs right there.

• 1:27:16Speaker 02

So, Diddy, um, that picture up there on the left with Paris, me, and, uh, Kim and Diddy? They were like, yeah, they're at one of Diddy's white parties. That wasn't even Diddy's white party, we're in Saint-Tropez at the Beblows Hotel at, like, in the pool, like, or something. That, we were just at a white party and it was mad people there, you know, and he was just hanging out.

• 1:27:40Adam Sosnick?

Everybody dresses like that at Saint-Tropez?

• 1:27:42Speaker 02

Look to the left a little bit.

• 1:27:45Speaker 02

  That, no.

• 1:27:46Patrick Bet-David?

  Left picture, yeah.

• 1:27:47Speaker 02

  Oh, who's that?

• 1:27:49Adam Sosnick?

  Was that Kanye right there?

• 1:27:50Patrick Bet-David?

That's your best friend right there.

• 1:27:51Speaker 02

  My boy, man.

• 1:27:52Adam Sosnick?

  Gotcha.

• 1:27:54Patrick Bet-David?

To DMX, did you ever, did you and DMX do anything, or no?

• 1:27:59Speaker 02

  Yeah, we did.

• 1:28:01Speaker 02

  We shared.

• 1:28:02Patrick Bet-David?

He was one of my favorites. I mean, I can't.

• 1:28:04Speaker 02

He was one of my closest friends. God rest his soul, Earl.

• 1:28:09Speaker 02

I tried to save his life. It was like the blind leading the blind, though. Like, he was on crack, I'm on cocaine. Different things. One of them was a faster suicide. But, there was a point, I'm gonna tell you two DMX stories, or three, actually.

• 1:28:28Speaker 02

DMX, I got him out of having to, like, go to prison. And I told him to go to a rehab center.

• 1:28:37Speaker 02

And, like, it's called Recovery First, right across the street from the Hard Rock.

• 1:28:44Speaker 02

He goes, I get him in, it was court ordered. And, calls me like, three days later, like, "Yo Scott, I'm at the Hard Rock. I had to fuck the nurse." I'm like, "What the fuck, bro?" I was like, "They're not gonna take you back. This is not like, G and G holistic, or some shit." And he's like, "Aw, man, what the fuck." I call the guy, the owner, and I'm like, "Yo, can you please let him out?" "Nope." Three days later, I had him come back to my house. Three days later, I went to Mondrian. My security calls me and says, "X has fifty federal agents surrounding your house right now. They're handcuffing him, and he's smoking crack while they're handing, handcuffing him, like, with the handcuffs on, getting his last hit in and shit." Some crazy shit, so...

• 1:29:31Speaker 02

Before that, I remember him staying at my house. One of the funniest stories is I had this fucking party. Everybody was there, from Snoop, this one, that one. And, at like, 7:30 in the morning, the party fizzled out. It's like, Mike Epps, me, Snoop, a couple other people were chilling, in my house in Palm. I get a knock at the door, and it was Pamela Anderson.

• 1:29:56Patrick Bet-David?

  Legend.

• 1:29:57Speaker 02

And I was like, "Wow, this is cool." Like, even though that was actually one of my friend Rick Solomon's wife, whatever. But I never met her, I thought it was like, so cool, like, it was like, oh seven, oh eight, whatever. And, um, it was like a, I think it was like a Super Bowl party I had. It was just like, 600 people or something in the party, whatever. And, um, make a long story short.

• 1:30:19Speaker 02

I was so geeked out of my mind, like, X was upstairs in one of the bedrooms and I was like, "Yo, X, yo, X, yo, you gotta see this." He comes out, he looks over to the banister and says, "Baywatch." And he just walked back in.

• 1:30:34Adam Sosnick?

  Said one word, "Baywatch."

• 1:30:36Speaker 02

"Baywatch." And just walked away. But, last one is the saddest story about X. He and I made some great, we did a video at my Indian Creek, by the way, it's called "Give 'Em What They Want", at my Indian Creek property. We did a video, it was pretty cool. Um, but guys, not the story. The story is this. You'll be able to see that as my brother after I tell you this story and watch that video. But, hold up.

• 1:31:03Speaker 02

Steve LaBelle, my manager, one of my most recent managers.

• 1:31:07Adam Sosnick?

  We working.

• 1:31:08Speaker 02

  We working.

• 1:31:08Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah.

• 1:31:09Speaker 02

  Very cool guy.

• 1:31:12Speaker 02

He and I owned a rehab center together.

• 1:31:14Adam Sosnick?

  Hmm.

• 1:31:14Speaker 02

In LA. Studio City, it's called, um, The Heavenly Center. THC.

• 1:31:21Adam Sosnick?

  Get out of here.

• 1:31:22Speaker 02

Yeah, and we were like, it was very difficult to be like, um, able to get, like, insurance companies to cover this shit because of the weed thing and this and that, whatever. So we kinda like dumbed it down, we like, "We, we are weed tolerant, we're not supplying the weed", you know, that type of thing, whatever. California sober, whatever the fuck it is.

• 1:31:46Speaker 02

X is now on his last legs with emphysema.

• 1:31:52Speaker 02

And, he's one hit a crack away from dying. So we put up the bread, this guy Frank Sid, me and Steve, we put him on a private jet to Washington to detox.

• 1:32:08Speaker 02

He goes, we convinced him to do it. He goes through the whole detox program, and he's supposed to get on the runway and go back on that same plane and go inpatient at The Heavenly Center. He never got on that plane. And a few weeks later, he was dead.

• 1:32:24Adam Sosnick?

  Wow.

• 1:32:25Speaker 02

I really tried to save his life. I really love that guy.

• 1:32:30Speaker 02

I had his whole family staying in my house. It was kinda fucked up though, like, you know, mind you, I'm a cocaine addict at the time. And like, he was in there like, trying to like, use my coke to make crack with and shit. It was just fucking nuts, like, I don't give a fuck, I don't if I look like a maniac for telling these stories. It's the truth. It was like the blind leading the blind. Can you imagine like, like, "Man, you really need to get your shit together."

• 1:32:54Speaker 02

  What the fuck?

• 1:32:54Adam Sosnick?

Man, you gotta clean that thing up, bro.

• 1:32:56Speaker 02

Yeah, man, you know, you gotta stop getting rid of that shit.

• 1:32:58Adam Sosnick?

What was he like, off camera? I mean, everyone says that if there's one performer that just has the grit, the grind, the hustle, the flow, like, he was that guy.

• 1:33:08Speaker 02

He was the fucking man. Fucking debuted platinum ten times in a row.

• 1:33:14Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah, rough ride.

• 1:33:14Speaker 02

He was shitting on the game. Did you ever see that fucking one, um, I forget what festival it was, it was like, this massive, like, it was like Lollapalooza.

• 1:33:22Adam Sosnick?

  Lollapalooza in Chicago?

• 1:33:23Speaker 02

Bro, like, this dude was a beast. He was like, he was really everything that those records were exuding was him.

• 1:33:32Adam Sosnick?

When you hear that dun dun dun dun.

• 1:33:34Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, it's, it never gets old. It's one of those, by the way, did you see Wolf Smith's latest song? They called the worst song, have you heard about it?

• 1:33:41Speaker 02

  No, I haven't.

• 1:33:42Patrick Bet-David?

Okay. Wolf Smith came out with a song, they, they just went after him, talking about, Fat Joe, uh, uh, had a, who was the guy that was with Fat Joe back in the days?

• 1:33:54Adam Sosnick?

  Big Pun?

• 1:33:55Patrick Bet-David?

Not Big, it was with Big Pun, you know, he had the song, "This one's dedicated to the ones who never made it, I hate it, the fact you faded away, you were the greatest." Who is that? No, it's not Pun, it's the other guy, it's, um,

• 1:34:04Speaker 02

  Tony Sunshine?

• 1:34:05Patrick Bet-David?

No, keep going, you'll say it, it's, um,

• 1:34:08Adam Sosnick?

  Tiger Boy Raul.

• 1:34:09Patrick Bet-David?

"I say this prayer to never respect you, but to..."

• 1:34:12Adam Sosnick?

  Part of the Terror Squad?

• 1:34:13Patrick Bet-David?

Oh my god, what is this guy's name? It, it's such a great beat.

• 1:34:17Adam Sosnick?

  Not Norrie.

• 1:34:18Patrick Bet-David?

I'll find, I'll figure out who it is.

• 1:34:19Adam Sosnick?

  Tony Sunshine.

• 1:34:20Patrick Bet-David?

Someone's gonna watch this and they're gonna comment below, we'll find out who it is. Did you ever do anything with Fat Joe?

• 1:34:26Speaker 02

  What?

• 1:34:28Speaker 02

I made like some of the biggest records for Fat Joe possible. Um, I did Lean Back.

• 1:34:34Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:34Speaker 02

I did Make It Rain. I did like a lot of shit with Joe. Yeah, I mean, like Joe, Joe changed the face of my career too. Because I was not putting a tag on my records. I was not like, produced by Scott Storch, shit like that, but. I'm doing every fucking song in the world and like. Lean Back comes and he's like, Scott Storch.

• 1:34:57Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:58Speaker 02

  Bro.

• 1:34:58Adam Sosnick?

  Cheese lines outside my door.

• 1:35:00Patrick Bet-David?

That's what he said in the video.

• 1:35:02Adam Sosnick?

  Cheese lines.

• 1:35:03Patrick Bet-David?

Cheese lines outside the door, yeah. That's what he said. So you guys were close, you guys, yeah.

• 1:35:10Patrick Bet-David?

Where do you put him? Where do you put him on the list?

• 1:35:12Speaker 02

He's dope, I mean, he's dope. It's kind of like unfair that he's not looked at like as even bigger than he is. I mean, people respect him, but like being a Latino rapper at some point, like it was like a handicap in itself, like. Didn't matter how fucking dope you were because motherfuckers were just like, there's a lot of fucking like weird things about the music business, you know?

• 1:35:35Adam Sosnick?

So Fat Joe, I don't know your relationship with him these days, but there's a lot of, there's a lot of hip hop beef, you know? Obviously it started with Tupac and Biggie and everything and then Nas, Jay-Z.

• 1:35:45Speaker 02

Well, he's a big in the, you know, as a personality now and like. When you have an opinion, sometimes people like.

• 1:35:51Adam Sosnick?

Well, 50 Cent, I think, him and him, who, who does he have beef with this? 50 Cent?

• 1:35:55Speaker 02

He used to, all his fires have been put out.

• 1:35:57Adam Sosnick?

  Really?

• 1:35:57Speaker 02

  It was Hov.

• 1:35:59Adam Sosnick?

  Yeah.

• 1:35:59Speaker 02

And 50, now he's cool with all of them.

• 1:36:02Adam Sosnick?

What's your take on just hip hop beef in general? I mean, the, the biggest beef of the last year was Kendrick and Drake. Is this manufactured? Is this real?

• 1:36:10Speaker 02

This is fucking WWF, like, you know what I'm saying? But like, put it this way, there was, um, I forget who it was, that was telling me like, yo. 50's coming at me on some shit, like he's like really fucking like tearing me up and this and that. And apparently 50 called him and was like, um, cause no, he called, he got in touch with me, he's like, why are you doing this to me? He's like, I'm trying to throw you a bone, bro. I'm trying to get you some shine, like.

• 1:36:33Adam Sosnick?

  50's saying this to you?

• 1:36:34Speaker 02

  No, to this person.

• 1:36:35Adam Sosnick?

  Oh, gotcha.

• 1:36:36Speaker 02

That's the story I heard, I don't know for sure, but like that he was like dissing somebody and the person that he was dissing. Called, um, 50, like, why are you doing this? He's like, bro, I'm trying to help you. Like any publicity is good publicity, like, I'm giving you a shot, like, you know what I'm saying, like? That's what these beefs, a lot of them are out, now these are legitimate beefs, obviously.

• 1:36:57Adam Sosnick?

What do you think is the most legitimate beef? I think like Lil Wayne and Birdman had some court stuff going on suing. What's the realest beef?

• 1:37:04Speaker 02

I mean, I mean, like, that's a label artist beef. That's not like rapper to rapper beef, even though the label was a rapper. But there's more, that's family, that's like a father and son. I did a song for these two, for Wayne and Birdman, called You Ain't No. I'm actually in the video, playing piano, it was like we were dressed up like gangsters and shit.

• 1:37:26Patrick Bet-David?

Cuban Link is who I was talking about.

• 1:37:28Speaker 02

  Hmm?

• 1:37:28Patrick Bet-David?

  Do you remember Cuban Link?

• 1:37:30Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah, Cuban Link.

• 1:37:30Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah, Cuban Link.

• 1:37:31Speaker 02

Oh, yeah, they had beef. That didn't end right. It was not, no.

• 1:37:35Patrick Bet-David?

  It wasn't?

• 1:37:36Speaker 02

No, that was some problems then. But somebody else recently just tried to like fuck with with Joe and take advantage of him. Somebody that was like a hype man for him, claimed to be like the writer on songs and shit and tried to sue Joe.

• 1:37:52Patrick Bet-David?

You you said Tommy Wotola earlier, did you have a relationship with Tommy?

• 1:37:56Speaker 02

Yeah, it's funny, that house that Diddy like lives in, like, I was there to visit Tommy at one point.

• 1:38:02Patrick Bet-David?

  I mean, he's a legend.

• 1:38:02Speaker 02

First time I met Tommy, Sony Music Studios in New York. I was like a little kid in the roots, like, didn't know what the fuck I was doing. I walked into the wrong lounge. And it was him talking to some like Asian guy that probably owned Sony or whatever. And he gave me the dirtiest look, like he was about to fucking bite my ear off. And I was like, oh shit. And then later down the road, he um, he invited me to come to that house when he'd first bought it and he was with Talia. This was right after um.

• 1:38:33Patrick Bet-David?

  She's great.

• 1:38:34Speaker 02

  Hmm?

• 1:38:35Patrick Bet-David?

  She's great.

• 1:38:35Speaker 02

Mm-hmm. And the same party place at the edge of that property on Star Island, that's like a temple, kind of gazebo kind of thing, whatever. It wasn't like that, it was an office outside. And it looked like something that Sosa from fucking Scarface would have. And he's at this sick ass, probably three hundred thousand dollar table with the home phone. And like, it's like outside, his whole office is set up outside and he's like doing his thing out there with a cigar, showing me his cars and shit, but. I think whatever. Tommy Wotola.

• 1:39:09Patrick Bet-David?

  Legend.

• 1:39:09Speaker 02

He made a lot of money.

• 1:39:10Patrick Bet-David?

  For a lot of people.

• 1:39:11Speaker 02

  Yeah, and for himself.

• 1:39:13Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah, for sure.

• 1:39:14Speaker 02

At the hands of Sony. Like, there was like, you know, a lot of people like made like, I mean, if I'm really gonna talk like, motherfuckers like.

• 1:39:27Speaker 02

They were found a way to take budgets down. These guys, like, I'm just being real, like, everybody knows this shit. He had a partner, Corey Rooney, that was producing. There's a crazy story, I'm glad I mentioned that. Okay, I have to, I have to go there. If we're on the fucking blacklist today.

• 1:39:46Adam Sosnick?

  Go for it.

• 1:39:47Speaker 02

All right, so, yeah, like, these guys, they would charge, they would get all the shit, like, they would eat up all the budgets of, like, the quarterly, like, budget that they would get, you know, Sony, Columbia, this, that, the other. One day, I had a house on Pine Tree Drive that I made into a studio.

• 1:40:08Adam Sosnick?

  Miami Beach?

• 1:40:09Speaker 02

Yeah, sixty-third and Pine Tree. I had, um, two studios in there. I had the board from Saturday Night Live, the SSL, or Neve, whatever it was. And, um, I get a call from this guy, Kenny Comissar, who's big record executive. And he's like, J Lo wants to come over. I'm like, amazing, I want to work with her, like, cool, amazing, this is dope. So J Lo comes over, but now, it's like damn near a hurricane going on. Power goes out. So I'm like, oh, yeah, I got this new car, it was like the first one in America, I had the Phantom. And like, I was like, let's listen to music in my Phantom.

• 1:40:48Speaker 02

Pouring rain, she's loving every fucking thing I'm playing, or she's like, that's shit. I remember her hand on my leg and like, just, I was like, oh, fuck, this J Lo was sitting in my passenger seat, loving my fucking music, I'm a little fucking, like, Jewish white boy from fucking Sunrise and shit, like, what the fuck, Nob Hill and shit. At any rate, I could hear a knock on my window, I'm like, what the fuck? Kenny's like, Jennifer, we gotta go. I'm like, what do you mean we gotta go? Like, what the fuck are you talking about, you brought her here? He's like, no, we gotta go, right now. Fifteen minutes later, I got a call from him, like, my bro, I'm so sorry. They told me I was fired if I didn't get her out of there. Wonder why?

• 1:41:32Speaker 02

Because there's only so many songs in the budget on these albums. And I was taking away real estate.

In that little game that these guys had going on that took Sony out for two hundred and change million. I'm laying some secrets out for y'all today, bro. This is all real talk. But yeah, I was like, man, that's fucked up, bro. I was like so hurt by that shit. That shit was supposed to go to Tommy and Corey. And I was not getting it. Nah, fuck that. Scott's not getting in her ear.

• 1:42:06Speaker 02

  Real talk.

• 1:42:08Speaker 02

That was one of my fucking like realizations that there's so much bullshit in fucking every industry. There's a hustle to every facet. I mean, this, this cup right here probably has ten hustles to the business behind it.

• 1:42:23Speaker 02

  Business.

• 1:42:24Speaker 00

Busta Rhymes. One of the only people to check on me. Like everybody's like pointing the finger, oh, Scott fucked up now, this and that.

• 1:43:32Speaker 02

He was like only person who called me and be like, I made money for all these people and they just walked away and said Scott's a piece of shit. He's like, yo, bro, you all right? I wasn't. I was like, yeah, I'll be all right. You know, I mean, addiction's a motherfucker.

• 1:43:50Speaker 02

Nobody cared, bro. I bought like all my homies Bentleys out of love, like because I wanted them to be like me. And they all disappeared when the party was over. It was like, but that's a gift too, because you get to see who your real friends are. And those two, three people that were left standing there, making sure I was cool. Busta was one of them people that, I mean, he wasn't, we weren't that close, close, but he's also my first client. When I left The Roots, that believed in me. He was my very first client that hired me. I remember we were like going up and down like fucking all the labels in New York.

• 1:44:35Speaker 02

Took this trip from Philly to New York and trying to play music for A and Rs. First one to bite was Busta. But yeah, he's the only person that really fucking called and was like, "Bro, you all right, man?" Nobody gave a shit.

• 1:44:49Adam Sosnick?

Out of everybody in industry, when you were going through your worst of your worst and you were dealing with the recovery, the only person that reached out was Busta, there was nobody else?

• 1:44:58Speaker 02

  Joe, somewhat.

• 1:44:59Adam Sosnick?

  Was that Joe?

• 1:45:01Speaker 02

Yeah, he never like, I mean, I didn't get the call, but I mean, I knew he cared.

• 1:45:06Adam Sosnick?

Do you think that's because of you and your reputation, or is that just the business? It's all fake, it's all a facade, you ain't really friends?

• 1:45:15Speaker 02

If you ain't hot, you ain't hot. Even, I remember Diddy telling me, like when we were talking about like, "What's your secret?" And he would like, cause you know, you have all this success. And he said, "I run to the light." And what he meant by that is like whoever's hot, he's going up near that shit, like whoever's fucking blowing up at the time, you're gonna see that motherfucker near you. He's like, "I run to the light."

• 1:45:39Patrick Bet-David?

What a thing to say, "Run to the light." Is that right after he flirted with you, or this, that's a different situation? It's like, "I run to the light."

• 1:45:48Adam Sosnick?

  Interesting.

• 1:45:49Patrick Bet-David?

Trying to see what he's talking about.

• 1:45:50Adam Sosnick?

  So it just means-

• 1:45:51Patrick Bet-David?

  Light skin?

• 1:45:52Speaker 02

You know, you know what's crazy? That dude's ears are golden, he's got golden ears, man. I know people like- Would use his ears and to see if some shit was legit. Or see if that was the single to help pick the, the one out of the bunch, that's the one. He would use Diddy for that shit. Jimmy Iovine, all the biggest. They'd be like, yo, what do you think of this?

• 1:46:13Adam Sosnick?

  He knew.

• 1:46:14Speaker 02

  He knew.

• 1:46:15Adam Sosnick?

It wasn't accidental that he rose to the top.

• 1:46:17Speaker 02

  No.

• 1:46:18Adam Sosnick?

He had an ear for it.

• 1:46:19Speaker 02

Yeah. Was he hands on as a producer?

• 1:46:21Adam Sosnick?

  No, that wasn't his thing.

• 1:46:22Patrick Bet-David?

You ever seen the video, you ever seen the video when uh, he's on a call and he gets what he wants and he says, I get everything. You ever seen that video?

• 1:46:30Adam Sosnick?

  Of course.

• 1:46:31Patrick Bet-David?

  Is that pretty much him?

• 1:46:32Adam Sosnick?

  I'm a savage.

• 1:46:33Patrick Bet-David?

  Does that describe him?

• 1:46:34Speaker 02

Um, I don't know, it's looked like too much coffee.

• 1:46:40Adam Sosnick?

  This one right here.

• 1:46:40Speaker 02

You know what it reminds me of?

• 1:46:42Patrick Bet-David?

  Pause it.

• 1:46:42Speaker 02

  What was the, uh,

• 1:46:43Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:46:44Speaker 02

  At the end of uh,

• 1:46:45Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah, I know.

• 1:46:45Adam Sosnick?

  Tropic Thunder?

• 1:46:46Patrick Bet-David?

What, Tropic Thunder's what I'm thinking.

• 1:46:48Speaker 02

No, at the end of Vacation, um, the movie like that Sid Caesar and he won the fucking, I win, I'm gonna win the money. You know, you know what I'm talking about?

• 1:46:58Adam Sosnick?

  With Travis Chase?

• 1:46:59Patrick Bet-David?

  Go ahead, Rob.

• 1:47:00Speaker 07

Book that for like the, the weekend of the 14th when the soundtrack comes out?

• 1:47:07Speaker 07

If, if so, bump somebody. I, alright, thanks. Alright, love you, man. Bye. I got my MTV app. Savage, I'm a savage! Oh! I'm a savage, whatever I want, I'm going to get it. Whatever I want, I have to get it.

• 1:47:23Speaker 02

  It's like steroids.

• 1:47:24Adam Sosnick?

What's next? What's next? Watch this.

• 1:47:27Speaker 07

  Yes!

• 1:47:30Speaker 07

What's next? What's next? I gotta get it, I'm not gonna stay fucking down. I'm not gonna stay fucking lying down, I'm not, I can't do it, man. I can't do that. What's next? Give me something else. What can't you do? I can do it. I can do anything.

• 1:47:46Adam Sosnick?

  Wow. Can't stop, won't stop.

• 1:47:48Speaker 02

  The power of suggestion.

• 1:47:51Adam Sosnick?

So he ran to the light?

• 1:47:53Patrick Bet-David?

Good for you. The power of, power of suggestion.

• 1:47:56Speaker 02

Dude, there's dudes that like, I'm not saying any names that just are able to capture your attention by screaming and like really not being part of the creative process of the music and just like selling you on that shit.

• 1:48:14Patrick Bet-David?

Did you ever do anything with, what is, what is that one guy's name? Who Connie had issues with and he ended up, I think he's the head of YouTube right now. What is the guy's name?

• 1:48:25Speaker 02

  Was it Rick Rubin?

• 1:48:26Patrick Bet-David?

  Not Rick Rubin, no, no.

• 1:48:27Speaker 02

  Leor Cohen?

• 1:48:28Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah, Leor Cohen.

• 1:48:30Speaker 02

Leor's the man, shit. Leor started like, he was one of the founders of Def Jam.

• 1:48:36Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 1:48:37Speaker 02

  Him and Russell Simmons.

• 1:48:38Patrick Bet-David?

What made him special? Was he a boss boss? Was he a, was he a numbers guy? Was he a negotiation guy? Was he a tough guy?

• 1:48:46Speaker 02

Yeah, he was smart in business. He was a tough guy, but like, you know, he would think outside the box and, you know, they figured out a formula of how to sell records.

• 1:48:54Patrick Bet-David?

Did you spend some time with him?

• 1:48:55Speaker 02

He used to borrow my boat. He used to come over and bring me Joe's Stone Crab to Indian Creek Island. And Scotty, let me borrow your boat, no problem, anytime, captain's there. He was a cool guy.

• 1:49:06Patrick Bet-David?

  Good dude?

• 1:49:07Speaker 02

  Yeah. Leor's beefed.

• 1:49:09Patrick Bet-David?

He's got some interesting nicknames. The other guy had nicknames, this guy's got it as well. Culture vulture, I don't know what they call them.

• 1:49:17Speaker 02

It was a weird lawsuit, I'm trying to remember. Yeah. It was doing, who, TVT, Steve Gottlieb, and it was like a big lawsuit.

• 1:49:23Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, it was. Um. Try to handle this with the transaction.

• 1:49:29Speaker 02

  Hundred thirty million.

• 1:49:30Patrick Bet-David?

Cash money click, initial defendant was ordered to pay a hundred and thirty-two million on his compensatory upon punitive damages with fifty-six million due personally from Cohen. Unappealed, that figure was substantially reduced.

• 1:49:41Speaker 02

Yeah. I heard some story about him dancing on his desk after like something with that lawsuit, like winning or something.

• 1:49:48Patrick Bet-David?

Okay, so he's got a little bit of Diddy in him. Is that what it is?

• 1:49:52Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:49:53Patrick Bet-David?

  See if he dances.

• 1:49:55Speaker 02

You wanna think about what that guy is? It's like the Beastie Boys, shit like that.

• 1:50:00Speaker 02

Early fucking like, cutting edge people like.

• 1:50:04Adam Sosnick?

  Was that Tribe Called Quest?

• 1:50:06Speaker 02

These are people, there was no like hip hop like mainstream shit before these kinda guys. There was also Joe and Phil Niccolo, Rough House Records, they had Cypress Hill, Criss Cross.

• 1:50:15Adam Sosnick?

  Oh wow.

• 1:50:15Speaker 02

  Those people.

• 1:50:16Adam Sosnick?

Make it jump, jump. So Scott, these days, I mean you, you've, you said famously that the coach.

• 1:50:23Speaker 02

Last longer than the players. That's actually a Steve LaBelle, We Workin' original, but I've adapted it, I've adopted it.

• 1:50:30Adam Sosnick?

You know, there's, Snoop's still relevant, right? Jay-Z's still relevant.

• 1:50:34Speaker 02

  Snoop?

• 1:50:35Adam Sosnick?

Who, you know, there's hot guys these days, you know, obviously Drake's doing this thing.

• 1:50:38Speaker 02

Relevant with what though? Snoop is famous, relevant as active? I don't know if I would.

• 1:50:43Adam Sosnick?

  Meaning he's still around.

• 1:50:44Speaker 02

Listen, these people have made such amazing amount of music of such high quality and like, some of the beats, like, you'll notice like, Snoop picks the greatest fucking beats, man, he's like, but like, he don't have to jack shit.

• 1:51:00Adam Sosnick?

  There's a lot of fire.

• 1:51:01Speaker 02

Like me personally, like, if anybody's, oh, he's watched, I don't have to do another beat for the rest of my life, I've still done more than everybody else, they'll never catch up. You know what I'm saying? Like, it doesn't matter, and my like, name and my legacy is like, even though I don't like to rest on my laurels and I'm still making shit because the passion is still there. I lost it for a while, it was back, and my son doing music, like, yeah, I'll still do it. But quietly, I'm making some fucking fire shit.

• 1:51:31Adam Sosnick?

What do you think about music these days? Like, who do you think is gonna last a test of time? So, is it Migos? Is it Travis Scott? Is it?

• 1:51:43Speaker 02

  There's these, this is like.

• 1:51:45Adam Sosnick?

Who do you, who do you actually respect that's new these days?

• 1:51:47Speaker 02

  More artistic than others.

• 1:51:48Adam Sosnick?

Baby, Lil Baby, who do you got out there?

• 1:51:50Speaker 02

One of my favorite people is this guy named Russ.

• 1:51:53Patrick Bet-David?

  Oh, Russ.

• 1:51:54Speaker 02

I made a lot of songs, I did Wipe You Up on him. He doesn't depend on the radio, he doesn't care what anybody thinks about him. He fills arenas.

• 1:52:03Adam Sosnick?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:52:04Speaker 02

  All day long.

• 1:52:04Patrick Bet-David?

  What's special about him?

• 1:52:06Speaker 02

He believes in what he's saying, and he like, I can tell you something, like, it's just so organic. I remember having a conversation with him.

• 1:52:14Adam Sosnick?

  The best on earth.

• 1:52:15Speaker 02

About going on the road, and some of these amazing places that he would get to travel to, like, in Europe, like, fucking amazing places, and he's like, I'm not gonna bring some like. You know, broad with me, you know, I'm gonna bring my mom. And he can bring his mom like to these great places and he was so like excited to like give back to her.

• 1:52:37Adam Sosnick?

  Good for him.

• 1:52:39Adam Sosnick?

  Good for him.

• 1:52:39Speaker 02

He's as real as it gets, man.

• 1:52:41Adam Sosnick?

He must have had a great mom.

• 1:52:42Speaker 02

They hate him. Like so many people like in like, you know, these like whatever like they're just, there's a lot of people, he gets haters. His jealousy and hate, but.

• 1:52:53Adam Sosnick?

What do they hate him for?

• 1:52:54Speaker 02

I don't know, having an opinion that actually he stands behind. Or that makes sense, I don't know.

• 1:53:01Adam Sosnick?

Who else would you put in that category these days?

• 1:53:06Speaker 02

  Um, I don't know, there's, there's, there's some good artists, um.

• 1:53:13Speaker 02

  Very few.

• 1:53:14Adam Sosnick?

  Very few.

• 1:53:15Speaker 02

  Very few.

• 1:53:15Adam Sosnick?

You don't seem too thrilled with the, with the, at the current state of hip hop.

• 1:53:19Speaker 02

All right, I'm gonna go take it a step further.

• 1:53:21Adam Sosnick?

  Okay, go.

• 1:53:22Speaker 02

We got what now, we have what I was and then before me, and I listened to some of the shit before me, like that was like, you know.

• 1:53:32Speaker 02

Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Kanye, Al Green, you know. Van Zepplin, Hall and, just some of these amazing, man, I ain't do nothing good. Like my shit is all right, like this shit is waxed, shit is horrible right now, honestly, it's horrible, it's trash. I still feel like I didn't like, I made some pretty impressive shit, I think, but.

• 1:53:56Speaker 02

It still is nothing compared to the amount of integrity that went into like some of the shit before me.

• 1:54:02Adam Sosnick?

Now, there's, every generation says that the generation before that, you know, they don't get it, they don't get the times. Is it, is it a generation thing or is it just straight up, listen to my ears, it ain't, it, it ain't.

• 1:54:12Speaker 02

You ever see the movie Idiocracy?

• 1:54:16Speaker 02

  That's it.

• 1:54:19Speaker 02

People are dumb. They have gotten, so because it's so easy to become a music producer, anybody can go to Guitar Center now and it's so cheap. Before, we had to have reel-to-reel tape recorders that were like two hundred dollars a tape to store two songs.

• 1:54:34Patrick Bet-David?

  Wow.

• 1:54:35Speaker 02

Now you can store a thousand songs on a little disc that costs you forty bucks. You know what I mean? Like, so anybody can do it. Everybody has a voice. Anybody can be seen, so the quality just got lower and lower and the bar was set lower and lower and lower and lower. You'll find some guys that are like sort of good, like some, you know, the artists, the better ones, like, you know, the Travis Scott's, the Trippie Redd's, you know, this and that, but.

• 1:55:00Patrick Bet-David?

  Scott, you ever met Trump?

• 1:55:02Speaker 02

I did, I just had lunch with him.

• 1:55:03Patrick Bet-David?

  How was that?

• 1:55:04Speaker 02

He's awesome. He's awesome. Yeah, Trump's a cool guy, I think, um, very misunderstood guy, you know, everybody's like, nobody's perfect, you know? Pick your poison, but I think he definitely has a plan and like, even though it looks like he's doing, like, causing riots and shit like that, it is like the better good of our, our, our country. You know what I mean? Like,

• 1:55:31Speaker 02

nobody think, it's bittersweet, you know what I mean? Ultimately, he's protecting us, but it's like, you think about,

• 1:55:39Speaker 02

you know, poor families that people are getting like deported and shit like that, that's the fucked up part. But sometimes, in order to do something, there are sacrifices that have to take place in order to the, the overall goal, which is to protect us. And,

• 1:55:57Speaker 02

  you know,

• 1:56:00Speaker 02

this is, I mean, in, in politics, I, it's not my forte, so I can't really like articulate it as much, but I just am saying, based on what I see, I think his, he's actually driven to protect our country.

• 1:56:14Patrick Bet-David?

  I agree.

• 1:56:14Adam Sosnick?

Sorry, do you think behind the scenes, other musicians? You've been, you were in a room with all these guys. If you did a poll of a hundred of the guys you worked with, you think they're pro-Trump, you think they're still Democrat Party, where would you think all the musicians, obviously we know Beyonce and Jay-Z stand?

• 1:56:30Speaker 02

I saw this guy on Instagram, this guy Patrick Beddavid. And he was at Mar-a-Lago and he was like, yo, all these naysayers and fucking people that just were shitting on Trump, they're sucking his dick right now because he's the president again. Basically is what you were saying.

• 1:56:47Patrick Bet-David?

In other words, yeah, very similar.

• 1:56:48Adam Sosnick?

I don't think people use those words, but yeah. Run to the white.

• 1:56:57Adam Sosnick?

Run to the light. So that's what everybody's doing, running to the light of Trump.

• 1:57:02Speaker 02

I guess, I don't know, man. All I know is he's doing a fucking better job than fucking Sleepy Joe. That guy, like, I feel like all this fucked up shit happened. And the first time Trump got in office, like, here's some coronavirus, deal with that shit, like, you know what I mean? Like, that's not... He weathered the storm, he went through that shit, but like, that wasn't easy for somebody.

• 1:57:24Patrick Bet-David?

Did you ever meet Bill Clinton?

• 1:57:25Speaker 02

  Hmm, no.

• 1:57:28Patrick Bet-David?

  Never met Bill. Obama?

• 1:57:31Speaker 02

It's so weird, like, I didn't meet Obama, but I was called when he was running for office to like, you know, they were looking for cool people to like, be part of his campaign and like, they wanted to pick me up and go, me go in a limo with him to some club or something, and I said, nah, I don't know. Nobody knew who he was, I didn't know if he was white, black, or anything, like, I didn't know. They just said, Obama wants you? Nah, I'm fucked up, I'm doing an eight ball instead of like... But I don't know if he did that much as a president, I hear, like, I don't really know.

• 1:58:01Patrick Bet-David?

If he did that much cocaine as a president?

• 1:58:02Speaker 02

No, I don't think he did that much as a president.

• 1:58:07Patrick Bet-David?

In name only. Or something like that.

• 1:58:10Speaker 02

  But, yeah.

• 1:58:11Patrick Bet-David?

No, I don't want to start any rumors. Scott is not saying anything about the eight ball with the president.

• 1:58:16Speaker 02

  No.

• 1:58:17Patrick Bet-David?

  That's two separate stories.

• 1:58:18Speaker 02

No, no, no, no, I was saying, I don't know how much he did as a president. But like, I do know that, um...

• 1:58:30Speaker 02

I guess like, I just feel like Trump is the our saving grace right now. And I don't think that like, a lot of these things would have happened like, a lot of problems would have happened if he was in office last.

• 1:58:42Patrick Bet-David?

He would be, he would be one hell of a rapper if you think about it. The amount of shit talking he can do in house, how quick. I can imagine if somebody just pulled up to Trump, and let's just say he goes on a podcast that's all about hip hop, and they said, "Could you freestyle?" I can only imagine if all of a sudden, he drops.

• 1:59:02Speaker 02

  He drops the shit.

• 1:59:04Adam Sosnick?

It's called the weave, I started here.

• 1:59:05Patrick Bet-David?

Thing, thing, and it's like, yeah, you know, and then.

• 1:59:09Adam Sosnick?

Well, there's one thing for sure. He's been mentioned in more rap songs than any president. Maybe any celebrity of all time.

• 1:59:17Patrick Bet-David?

Any president? Yeah, probably. No, probably. Probably, probably. Scott, just out of curiosity, I mean, where you're at. What do you have if you have to choose between Biggie and Tupac? What's your opinion on that? Are you more?

• 1:59:29Speaker 02

Two different things, two different things. Both amazing.

• 1:59:32Patrick Bet-David?

  Oh, my.

• 1:59:32Speaker 02

It sounds like, now I feel like I'm on Drink Champs, because that's what they do, like, it's like, if you have to pick one, and if you can't, you have to take a shot. Well, um, one's a poet, one's a storyteller.

• 1:59:43Patrick Bet-David?

Here's a better question to ask. Which one have you played or listened to the most? Biggie's music or more Tupac? Which have you listened to the most? No, you can't say that.

• 1:59:54Speaker 02

  I have, though.

• 1:59:54Patrick Bet-David?

  That's not true, though.

• 1:59:55Speaker 02

I made a record for Tupac, though. I did remix one of his songs, yeah.

• 1:59:59Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, you're talking about the, the, the.

• 2:00:01Speaker 02

Why'd you sling crack? Because I had to. Look, Tupac got better and better as time went on, like, Biggie's career was so short. It's hard to like.

• 2:00:12Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 2:00:13Speaker 00

I dated Lil Kim too, so I guess me and him were like Eskimo brothers.

• 2:01:16Patrick Bet-David?

  You dated Lil Kim?

• 2:01:17Speaker 02

  No.

• 2:01:19Patrick Bet-David?

  You did or you didn't?

• 2:01:20Speaker 02

  I did.

• 2:01:21Adam Sosnick?

  Really?

• 2:01:22Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 2:01:23Patrick Bet-David?

  Like what era?

• 2:01:24Speaker 02

She's an awesome, like, awesome person.

• 2:01:27Patrick Bet-David?

She doesn't look the same though. Lil Kim to me used to be-

• 2:01:29Adam Sosnick?

She did a little too much surgery.

• 2:01:31Speaker 02

Yeah. I'll let me get carried away with that shit like later in life.

• 2:01:37Patrick Bet-David?

But Lil Kim at one point was-

• 2:01:38Speaker 02

  Bad.

• 2:01:39Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 2:01:40Adam Sosnick?

So you had Big Kim, Kim Kardashian, you had Lil Kim. You had Paris.

• 2:01:45Speaker 02

Bro, pardon my language, but I fucked everybody. Literally, I didn't leave nothing.

• 2:01:51Adam Sosnick?

Nothing to chance. Out of all the girls you've been with, if you could have put a ring on one of them, who did you actually love?

• 2:01:59Patrick Bet-David?

What a question. Adam's in a very loving space, so just like-

• 2:02:04Adam Sosnick?

  Scott knows.

• 2:02:04Speaker 02

I'm gonna tell you this. I was married one time for one day in Vegas, because I was fucked up and like, I don't, I don't know, I don't think I-

• 2:02:15Adam Sosnick?

You pulled a Britney Spears, is that what you're saying?

• 2:02:18Speaker 02

For some reason to me, I've had relationships, long relationships.

• 2:02:21Adam Sosnick?

But who was the one that got away? Who did you actually love? Who would you actually like? Someone that we would know. You're like, I'll tell you what. So and so and so, if I could have, would have, should have. Who would that would have been, Scott? Walk us down memory lane. You've been with them all, come on.

• 2:02:36Speaker 02

  I don't know, like.

• 2:02:38Adam Sosnick?

Get in your feelings right now, maybe we'll play a little Mario. You should let me love you. Who is it?

• 2:02:44Speaker 02

I always was going out with people for the wrong reason. Like for me, it was like, I would get involved with a girl because she had a great ass. And it's not deep enough to fucking have like, the intimacy and the love that's gonna stand the test of time.

• 2:02:56Patrick Bet-David?

For some people, that's spiritual, that's, you know, it's a...

• 2:03:00Speaker 02

Look, I'm not the fucking... I can't say I made all the right decisions in my life. I know how to make music, I can't tie my shoelaces. You know what I'm saying, like?

• 2:03:12Speaker 02

Like, at a, at a certain age, in like, my prime, like, I decided I liked to shit this thing called drug sex. Like, when you're doing fucking drugs, you're getting fucked up, and you're fucking, and like, that's not what love is, you know what I mean, but like, you get caught in your ways. What's the old expression, like, you can't teach an old trick new dogs?

• 2:03:35Adam Sosnick?

So, but that, you can make beautiful music, but you can't tie your shoelaces. Like, the other night, we had dinner. This guy...

• 2:03:44Speaker 02

I know people that are so smart, but have no common sense.

• 2:03:46Adam Sosnick?

This guy, let me tell you, PBD. He has a napkin, right here, right here, napkin, at dinner, at, uh, where do we have it? At, at Materano's. This guy, I, I looked at him, he went like this. I'm like, Scott, use your napkin. But, i- is it something about the way you're wired, just like, I don't give a fuck?

• 2:04:04Patrick Bet-David?

What did you have at Materano? Did, did you have the Philly cheesesteak?

• 2:04:07Adam Sosnick?

He, we ordered, yeah, the Philly cheesesteaks, everything, incredible.

• 2:04:10Patrick Bet-David?

See, the challenge with Materano is, when they turn on the music, I can't talk to you.

• 2:04:16Speaker 02

  You gotta go early.

• 2:04:17Patrick Bet-David?

  You gotta go early.

• 2:04:18Adam Sosnick?

We went early that one night.

• 2:04:19Speaker 02

If you're in the mood for that, like, a lot of people, like, they're not going to their clubs, or they wanna get that club feel.

• 2:04:22Patrick Bet-David?

I go to restaurants for three reasons. I go for three reasons. I go for company, I go for service, I go for great food. I'm not going for music. So, that's the three reasons, if I wanna listen to music, I'm going to a different place.

• 2:04:38Speaker 02

But it's a party, like, you just gotta be ready for that.

• 2:04:40Patrick Bet-David?

It's a freaking happening spot, if you have, folks, if you're listening to this, everybody knows, I'm Team Casa D'Angelo. It's very simple. That's where I go, and the last seven days, I was there five times, in the last seven days.

• 2:04:51Speaker 02

  I'll tell you something else?

• 2:04:52Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 2:04:52Speaker 02

There's another one, another sleeping time.

• 2:04:54Patrick Bet-David?

Is that the nine-five, the, the one, the, the number place that everybody...

• 2:04:59Speaker 02

  Trattoria Romano.

• 2:05:02Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah, of course, in Boca.

• 2:05:03Speaker 02

  Bro.

• 2:05:04Patrick Bet-David?

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, right off of, uh, Palmetto.

• 2:05:07Speaker 02

  That place is amazing.

• 2:05:07Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, we've been there. I used to go there all the time.

• 2:05:09Speaker 02

  You got that?

• 2:05:09Patrick Bet-David?

Palmetto, right across the street from, uh, Los.

• 2:05:11Adam Sosnick?

That's the place you would go to lunch every day.

• 2:05:13Patrick Bet-David?

I used to go there a lot, yeah, yeah.

• 2:05:15Speaker 02

Prime Italian, not a fucking bad.

• 2:05:17Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah.

• 2:05:17Speaker 02

They got the cheese steak too.

• 2:05:19Patrick Bet-David?

Well, okay, so last thing before we wrap up, what's next for you? What's next for you?

• 2:05:23Speaker 02

Well, um, let me see, I'm thinking about this. Make sure I say the right things, cause I'm getting, come on.

• 2:05:31Patrick Bet-David?

You gonna announce like you and Kim are back together?

• 2:05:33Speaker 02

  No.

• 2:05:34Adam Sosnick?

  Which one?

• 2:05:35Patrick Bet-David?

Yeah, I'm saying Kim K because he seemed pretty sentimental about that one.

• 2:05:39Speaker 02

No, not that. Um, let me see, something. All right.

• 2:05:48Speaker 02

So like, you know, I've done so much music making in my life that, you know, sometimes I want to continue that, but I want to do something different. I want to like, you know, try something new. Like, I feel like, even like when I was making music, I would try different kinds of music, because when you're not so formulaic in your delivery, because you've done it so many times, you're learning along the way, and that's where some of the most accidental genius things that you make happen, that are hybrids of other things. But now, I think I have a lot to say and I have the ability to captivate people. So like, I want to, you know, do like a television show, like a variety show,

• 2:06:33Speaker 02

with a podcast, with like that, that whole kind of thing. Like, I want to do something that's different, live entertainment, um, comedians, this, that, even a little sketch comedy involved, like, something really dope, you know, something different.

• 2:06:47Patrick Bet-David?

  Where do you live?

• 2:06:47Speaker 02

That people wouldn't expect from me.

• 2:06:48Patrick Bet-David?

  You're still in Miami?

• 2:06:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 2:06:52Patrick Bet-David?

  All right, that's cool.

• 2:06:54Speaker 02

Something amazing, like, I have a pretty big reach and like, I think I can bring the right people in. And like, I don't know, like, have fun moments that are very spontaneous and very like, you know, just like, unexpected from me. And a lot of people don't know who I am. They don't know there's a humorous, funny, humble guy. That's just done a lot of shit, fucked everybody, had everything and lost it and not embarrassed to it, no. I'm very like, I don't really care. If you can't take a fuck, joke him. If you can't take a joke, fuck him.

• 2:07:36Patrick Bet-David?

I almost feel like this was a blast of a podcast. We talked about a lot of different things. I learned your favorite person in the world today is Kanye. I learned you miss Kim. I learned you did business with a lot of different people. But if there's one thing I can tell you, I have a feeling, I'm curious what dinner's gonna be like with cameras off. And, and no mic. You know what I'm saying? I don't know if that makes sense.

• 2:08:04Speaker 02

By the way, I have, not to cut you off, I have a, um, a song that I did like three years ago with my boy Ryan, who's such a cool guy. He's an inventor, he's a lab guy, he's like, you know, doing some incredible stuff. And his, um, Star nos, his company, and we made a song, he made a movie about like,

• 2:08:28Speaker 02

blood testing and things and like corruption in that world and like, all kinds of shit, but like, I did the theme song for the thing, it's pretty mean, where I kind of like interpolated the Karate Kid.

• 2:08:43Adam Sosnick?

What a song, are you kidding me?

• 2:08:44Speaker 02

But we switched, the song has evolved into different things.

• 2:08:47Adam Sosnick?

By the way, before, before we wrap up, what are you doing with Grand Theft Auto right now? Aren't you in the game?

• 2:08:50Speaker 02

I'm not allowed to talk in the game.

• 2:08:51Adam Sosnick?

Oh, okay, gotcha, all right. But to be, to, something's coming.

• 2:08:55Speaker 02

I was already there, I was already in it. They put me, Dre and Jimmy in a online version of it, but, you know.

• 2:09:01Patrick Bet-David?

  Yeah, he is.

• 2:09:02Speaker 02

  Who knows?

• 2:09:02Patrick Bet-David?

That's right. I've seen it. Yeah, yeah.

• 2:09:04Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 2:09:04Patrick Bet-David?

Okay, so maybe there's something else that's going on.

• 2:09:06Speaker 02

  Yeah, maybe, maybe.

• 2:09:07Patrick Bet-David?

  It's gonna be massive. Anyways.

• 2:09:09Speaker 02

All I know is that game is gonna be the shit. That's the biggest fucking video game.

• 2:09:12Patrick Bet-David?

They have been delaying it and people are pissed and they're creating anticipation, but they're looking forward to it. My man, this was a blast. Great having you, brother. Much love. Take care, everybody. God bless. Bye bye, bye bye.

• 2:09:25Speaker 02

Hey, what's going on? I'm Scott Storch, and you might have seen me on the PBD Podcast, and you might have some questions you want to ask me. I'm available on the Minette app, and you can ask me about pretty much anything: music, industry stuff, you know, my life and my history, or, you know, anything, technical questions with music, equipment, whatever, production techniques.
