• 0:19Mary Beth Barone?

Hey, can you come pick me up? Yeah, what's wrong? Nothing. Are you sure? Yeah, no, I just need a ride. Oh, my god. So what? I just wanna have fun. Start your engine. Take that.

• 0:30Benito Skinner?

  I'm Benito Skinner.

• 0:31Mary Beth Barone?

  I'm Mary Beth Brown.

• 0:33Benito Skinner?

  And this?

• 0:33Mary Beth Barone?

  Is?

• 0:34Benito Skinner?

  Ride.

• 0:38Mary Beth Barone?

Welcome to Great Britain's biggest library.

• 0:42Benito Skinner?

So anything can happen, even Gatsby can happen. Do you get that?

• 0:46Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, I do.

• 0:47Benito Skinner?

Wait, I'm loving it. Should I take shoes off?

• 0:49Mary Beth Barone?

Oh, wait, I'm gonna break the fourth wall.

• 0:51Benito Skinner?

The Great British Library. This is our Great British Library episode.

• 0:55Mary Beth Barone?

This is our Great British Library, our great big British library episode. And I'm not wearing shoes or socks, and that's my prerogative, because it's my podcast.

• 1:01Benito Skinner?

I will say that if we ever one day get to build our own studio, I'm doing it brick by brick, exactly like this fucking place.

• 1:10Mary Beth Barone?

  A perfect recreation.

• 1:11Benito Skinner?

  Like, down to the books.

• 1:13Mary Beth Barone?

What's the song in the library in Beauty and the Beast?

• 1:16Benito Skinner?

  Tale as old as time.

• 1:18Mary Beth Barone?

Is that really in the library?

• 1:19Benito Skinner?

True as it can be. Barely even friends.

• 1:25Mary Beth Barone?

Friends. Yeah, that's not in my register. So you're on your own.

• 1:30Benito Skinner?

You're on your own, kid. Wait, think about that for two seconds.

• 1:33Mary Beth Barone?

Okay, first things first, what you were talking about when I interrupted you was Vogue's YouTube channel.

• 1:38Benito Skinner?

  Oh.

• 1:43Benito Skinner?

Wow, it just, and here's the thing, stick with us, we'll get to it.

• 1:48Mary Beth Barone?

  And I'm always in it.

• 1:49Benito Skinner?

  Did I chew my teeth?

• 1:49Mary Beth Barone?

No. No, you ate a cracker sandwich. You ate that sandwich, girl. It's giving sandwich.

• 1:55Benito Skinner?

  Come on, sandwich!

• 1:56Mary Beth Barone?

That sandwich was a whole ass vibe.

• 1:58Benito Skinner?

  No, for real.

• 2:00Mary Beth Barone?

  For real.

• 2:00Benito Skinner?

Oh, my god, I felt like such a fool today, and the whole time I kept thinking, well, that was a whole ass vibe.

• 2:06Mary Beth Barone?

So what do you love about Vogue's YouTube channel?

• 2:08Benito Skinner?

Well, I just think it has so many great little videos, and I love the makeup ones, I love the 73 questions, it's been a while. But can I tell you something crazy? And again, this is industry. I'm not like, I'm, this is just our job sometimes. I was making a commercial, I think with like Meta a while ago. And then the guy shooting it, I just kept thinking, his voice is freaking me out. Why have I heard this voice before?

• 2:32Mary Beth Barone?

And he is Mr. 73 Questions.

• 2:33Benito Skinner?

And at the end, he finally went, I am the guy who does 73 questions. And I was like, I lead with that.

• 2:39Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, you have to.

• 2:40Benito Skinner?

I've spent the past hour in my head. Like, I didn't hear a thing you said. Cause I was thinking, I love when they do, you know, my favorite thing in the 73 questions? The format of it is when they'll ask one and then, then I'm throwing out this Joe and the Juice.

• 2:53Mary Beth Barone?

  Can you stop?

• 2:54Benito Skinner?

And this cracker sandwich is hitting.

• 2:56Mary Beth Barone?

  Well, it's so pointy.

• 2:58Benito Skinner?

Well, it's literally decimating my insights. Joe and the Juice has not reached out for comment.

• 3:03Mary Beth Barone?

  No, they're dead silent.

• 3:05Benito Skinner?

  Nothing.

• 3:06Mary Beth Barone?

Well, the DM that I got that said, your silence is defining, because they spelled deafening wrong. All caps, your silence is defining.

• 3:13Benito Skinner?

  Well, think about that.

• 3:14Mary Beth Barone?

  And I did.

• 3:14Benito Skinner?

And say that in the library of Congress. Wait, I didn't say the thing. I love when.

• 3:19Mary Beth Barone?

And hey, we'll wait. I'm about to move on.

• 3:22Benito Skinner?

No, I know, I gotta rip through it.

• 3:23Mary Beth Barone?

  I only have so much.

• 3:24Benito Skinner?

You have an agenda. We gotta do this quick or she'll leave. There's an electric guitar across from me. I'm telling you. You got it, kid. But where they do the kind of thing where it's like, they answer one thing, something, and then the next one, they'll do the same answer. So, you know, they'll be like, what's your favorite color? And then it's like, what's a color you'd never wear? Green. And then, you know, they do it twice.

• 3:45Mary Beth Barone?

That's a really bad example, but yeah.

• 3:49Mary Beth Barone?

  That doesn't make any sense.

• 3:50Benito Skinner?

London Bridge is falling down, falling down.

• 3:53Mary Beth Barone?

It would be more like, what's your favorite fruit? Orange. What's your favorite color? Orange.

• 3:58Benito Skinner?

  Exactly.

• 3:58Mary Beth Barone?

So, that's kind of the difference between us.

• 4:01Benito Skinner?

  What's your favorite drink?

• 4:02Mary Beth Barone?

  Orange.

• 4:05Benito Skinner?

Wait, I want to do it and answer orange for everything.

• 4:07Mary Beth Barone?

  For everything.

• 4:09Benito Skinner?

But I'm back in London, so I'll have material for at least a month. Maybe two.

• 4:13Mary Beth Barone?

  Right.

• 4:14Benito Skinner?

We're only here for a couple of days, though, but we had to see this. Cause I, I was so sad the second I left. Last time, I thought, I didn't see any podcast studios. So, it's good to be here.

• 4:24Mary Beth Barone?

  That's because I wasn't with you.

• 4:26Benito Skinner?

  Exactly.

• 4:27Mary Beth Barone?

Let's talk about blocking random people just to make them think.

• 4:30Benito Skinner?

Yeah, so here's my thing. Lately, I run hot. I mean, I know people are gonna be like Scorpio season, or they're not.

• 4:40Mary Beth Barone?

Wait, I love saying that. Just like, I know blank, but, or not.

• 4:44Benito Skinner?

  Or not.

• 4:44Mary Beth Barone?

So we're kind of covering all of our bases.

• 4:46Benito Skinner?

It's kind of been my whole thing lately. I put myself out there and then I keep just getting like completely shit wrecked. Like, I'll just be like-

• 4:52Mary Beth Barone?

  Oh yeah, babe.

• 4:53Benito Skinner?

It's so bad, and so I'll do it, and then I'm like, or I could just like never speak to you again.

• 4:59Mary Beth Barone?

  Or anyone for that matter.

• 5:00Benito Skinner?

I'm so sorry I even like came up. Like, I, oh my god, I had this happen, and I'm not gonna say who, but it was a, an actor that I really loved, and I went up to them and I'm like, oh, I'm just such a fan, you're an icon, and they puffed so much vape.

• 5:13Mary Beth Barone?

I don't even remember who this was.

• 5:15Benito Skinner?

In my head, I'll tell you later. Not in the library.

• 5:17Mary Beth Barone?

  It's not appropriate.

• 5:19Benito Skinner?

I just thought, damn, I'm never gonna do that ever again.

• 5:23Mary Beth Barone?

  You learn, baby. Yeah.

• 5:25Benito Skinner?

Like, it was very ribbit. I was very rabbit.

• 5:29Mary Beth Barone?

You only want to do ribbit on purpose, intentionally. If something's unintentionally ribbit, it's like, ooh.

• 5:35Benito Skinner?

And we could leave it at that.

• 5:36Mary Beth Barone?

And so that's what we have to say this week.

• 5:38Benito Skinner?

That's kind of that on that, yeah.

• 5:39Mary Beth Barone?

But blocking random people just to make them think.

• 5:42Benito Skinner?

But yeah, I think what's so cool about it, it's like, if someone has done something, and I like not even telling the person that they've done it, just block, because it's like, I want them to go, wait, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa.

• 5:51Mary Beth Barone?

  What happened?

• 5:52Benito Skinner?

  He blocked me.

• 5:53Mary Beth Barone?

But it's fun to do it for people that didn't really do anything.

• 5:56Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 5:56Mary Beth Barone?

  Just to say like, hey.

• 5:59Benito Skinner?

I'm just curious, like, I just want you to know, like, just in one moment, I had a flash of just pure raw anger towards you, and I just let it rip. And you know what? And you'll never see me again.

• 6:09Mary Beth Barone?

No, probably never. I walk out of the Great British Library.

• 6:13Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 6:14Mary Beth Barone?

  Britain's biggest library.

• 6:15Benito Skinner?

Oh my god, I can picture Belle walking in here.

• 6:17Mary Beth Barone?

  I know.

• 6:18Benito Skinner?

  Oh, these books!

• 6:19Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 6:20Benito Skinner?

Beast was like, you're kind of annoying, though.

• 6:22Mary Beth Barone?

You get it, you read books.

• 6:24Benito Skinner?

I feel like I'm being interviewed now, you have all these things.

• 6:26Mary Beth Barone?

Because we have a lot of like, we haven't recorded in like two weeks, so I feel like we just have a lot in here, and I want to get through half of them in this episode, and half of them in the next one.

• 6:34Benito Skinner?

  Great.

• 6:34Mary Beth Barone?

So I'm just trying to get through these.

• 6:35Benito Skinner?

  Treat it like just like-

• 6:36Mary Beth Barone?

It's sort of like a job. Yeah, well, it's a job.

• 6:39Benito Skinner?

I do think a lot of podcasts-

• 6:40Mary Beth Barone?

So I treat this like a job.

• 6:42Benito Skinner?

  Oh, you're having fun?

• 6:44Mary Beth Barone?

No, no, no. This is a job. This is a job.

• 6:46Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 6:47Mary Beth Barone?

  I have a new era.

• 6:48Benito Skinner?

I just looked at the camera. I don't care.

• 6:49Mary Beth Barone?

  I have a new era.

• 6:50Benito Skinner?

  What is it, sweetie?

• 6:51Mary Beth Barone?

After someone says something completely random, you just say, I knew you were gonna say that.

• 6:57Benito Skinner?

You told this to me and I thought, because why this is so you is because it's, I can't think of anything that would make the person more uncomfortable.

• 7:04Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, well.

• 7:05Benito Skinner?

  I go.

• 7:06Mary Beth Barone?

I was at this, I did this music video that I, I won't tell anymore about because I'm not sure if it's out yet. Because I keep forgetting, well, I keep asking him what day it's gonna come out and it's different. So I don't want to like say anything about it. But basically, the guy that was doing my hair, Brian, he was like, oh, this is a fig tree. Like, I can tell, it's like, whatever, whatever. And I just went, I knew you were gonna say that. And he goes, really? You knew I was gonna go uncle on it and talk about this tree? And I just said, yeah.

• 7:29Benito Skinner?

My dad, it reminds me of this game my dad used to have that like, a- a- as a kid, I was just like eye roll. But now I'm kind of like, fuck, that is kind of fun.

• 7:36Mary Beth Barone?

Dads need to feel joy, too.

• 7:38Benito Skinner?

Totally. And I'm like, do this bit, like, you can tour it. It's funny. Where he'll be driving somewhere and if it's not like a place we live. So for instance, we were in Baltimore where my aunt lives. And we were driving somewhere into my grandma. My dad was like, I'll know exactly where I am if I see the A and W sign. And it's like, it's, he's, I just saw it.

• 7:58Mary Beth Barone?

  Oh, amazing.

• 7:59Benito Skinner?

And my grandma's like, holy fuck, like, there it is.

• 8:01Mary Beth Barone?

  That's genius.

• 8:03Benito Skinner?

It's really, it is, because every, I, I've never seen somebody get the joke. Like, every time they're like, oh, my god, right there.

• 8:11Mary Beth Barone?

Okay, so he has literally a running bit.

• 8:13Benito Skinner?

And then my dad goes, I fucking made a fool of you, [BLEEP]. And that's it. You're so stupid, [BLEEP].

• 8:22Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, he's, he uses the C word a lot.

• 8:24Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, wait, bleep all that.

• 8:25Mary Beth Barone?

I did notice, I did notice that the first few times I met him. Just a lot of C words.

• 8:30Benito Skinner?

Is that terrible that I just said it?

• 8:32Mary Beth Barone?

No, we'll bleep it if we want. I don't think Pete Buttigieg is the answer to all of our problems. I'll say that. I really don't fuck with him. He said on a, in a debate or at a town hall that if he could press a button to not be gay, he would. And so I was just like, that's not a man that stands on business. That's not a man that stands on like his own ethics and morals. That's not a man. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

• 8:56Benito Skinner?

You know what's crazy? If you gave me a button that said, you can't be gay anymore, or die, I would choose die.

• 9:01Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 9:01Benito Skinner?

Actually, I'd be straight for two weeks, then come back and get the other button. I'd just be curious to see like what happens in my career.

• 9:08Mary Beth Barone?

  Probably a lot of good.

• 9:09Benito Skinner?

Well, then I guess I'd stick around.

• 9:11Mary Beth Barone?

  Then your cake.

• 9:12Benito Skinner?

  But then I gotta go.

• 9:13Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 9:14Benito Skinner?

  Goodbye. Yeah.

• 9:16Mary Beth Barone?

I just don't like, like a lot of people really ride for him and I just, I don't see it personally.

• 9:21Benito Skinner?

And say that. And I'm glad you did.

• 9:23Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, I don't see it.

• 9:24Benito Skinner?

Did I put anything in there? I think I had a couple of little things I wanted to just.

• 9:28Mary Beth Barone?

You said you needed to talk about something unbelievably again.

• 9:31Benito Skinner?

So something unbelievably, for those joining in, I, I think it was something, it was one of the first times where I really just let her rip on here. I want to show you something, something unbelievable.

• 9:42Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 9:43Benito Skinner?

And I see him everywhere and I feel him and he's also a part of me in a lot of ways. But one of the things that's unbelievable is that he showed the girl is this place, but somebody goes, what is the origin of it? And again, it's just kind of like you're in Europe and a guy comes up and he's wearing kind of like an interesting polo with like all kinds of patches and flair on it.

• 10:05Mary Beth Barone?

  Armani jeans.

• 10:07Benito Skinner?

  Armani exchange, my love.

• 10:09Mary Beth Barone?

  That's what I meant.

• 10:10Benito Skinner?

  A E, sweetie.

• 10:11Mary Beth Barone?

  The exchange was implied.

• 10:13Benito Skinner?

  Of course. Drop the exchange.

• 10:15Mary Beth Barone?

  It's cleaner.

• 10:17Benito Skinner?

So he comes up and he shows you this and he might kill you later. He just goes, I want to show you something, something unbelievable.

• 10:26Mary Beth Barone?

  He has the same accent.

• 10:27Benito Skinner?

  Sebastian is his name.

• 10:29Mary Beth Barone?

He has the same accent as Kostas in Sister of the Tragedies, which we talked about before because the line delivery of, is it, or is it something else? Cause he's not Greek.

• 10:39Benito Skinner?

  Oh, yeah.

• 10:40Mary Beth Barone?

He doesn't actually have a Greek accent. The actor might be Greek. I'm not sure. I haven't looked into his lineage, needless to say.

• 10:45Benito Skinner?

I looked him up recently because he was a gay awakening for me.

• 10:48Mary Beth Barone?

  Or is it something else?

• 10:49Benito Skinner?

  Something else.

• 10:50Mary Beth Barone?

And I know he was like, can we not use that take? And they were like.

• 10:53Benito Skinner?

They go, uh-uh. It's kind of like the.

• 10:56Mary Beth Barone?

Amysista. Amysista. They said, so we actually, we didn't pull focus on the last one. So unfortunately, we're gonna have to use that one.

• 11:04Benito Skinner?

I will say, every now and then, you see a batshit take. And like, I had a couple in the show, and it's just kind of like, fuck it, keep it. Like, to think that everyone always responds in a thing that's totally in line with them or normal. Like, I don't know, I think sometimes it does kind of.

• 11:17Mary Beth Barone?

  It's unusual.

• 11:20Mary Beth Barone?

It's not realistic. It's not. Shakespeare land.

• 11:24Benito Skinner?

  No, literally.

• 11:25Mary Beth Barone?

I just have always wanted to record the pod in front of an, what is it?

• 11:28Benito Skinner?

  Well, books, books are.

• 11:29Mary Beth Barone?

What even is it? What do I call that? An addition?

• 11:32Benito Skinner?

  Oh, first edition.

• 11:33Mary Beth Barone?

  In front of a.

• 11:34Benito Skinner?

Well, the first edition of, you know, of Mice and Men, like, I had to be here for that.

• 11:37Mary Beth Barone?

  Totally, Steinbeck.

• 11:38Benito Skinner?

  Oh, I love Steinbeck.

• 11:41Mary Beth Barone?

  So.

• 11:42Benito Skinner?

  I knew you'd say that.

• 11:43Mary Beth Barone?

Lacey, I, I knew you were gonna say that. Lacey Barone and a twinkish straight guy named Benito. Jenny Hahn, there's easier ways to say you listen to ride, honey.

• 11:54Benito Skinner?

  NT media.

• 11:55Mary Beth Barone?

Clip that. Lacey Barone, I don't claim her. Just so you know, she's not one of my cousins. I don't have any cousins with that name.

• 12:02Benito Skinner?

Okay, I haven't seen the show, but I'm gonna tap in.

• 12:05Mary Beth Barone?

It's definitely a journey, and I'm, I would say like, I'm glad it's over in the sense, well, they're doing a movie, which I will be fucking sat for, but.

• 12:13Benito Skinner?

  I know you will.

• 12:14Mary Beth Barone?

I just wanted, like, the anguish for these characters to end. And I think it has in a really beautiful way. And I think she went with the guy that I think she should be with. So I'm thrilled for her.

• 12:24Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 12:24Mary Beth Barone?

And I just think, you know, there were definitely some moments where I didn't agree with the characters, and that's okay. And I'm sure people felt that about overcompensating.

• 12:32Benito Skinner?

I think that's great. She's really incredible, Jenny Hahn. She like, I mean, it's, it's full pandemonium. And she did it with To All The Boys. I've, I've rimmed before.

• 12:41Mary Beth Barone?

  The first season of.

• 12:42Benito Skinner?

To All The Boys, I rimmed before.

• 12:44Mary Beth Barone?

  Right.

• 12:46Benito Skinner?

That was that, that big joke that hit you the first time. So I'm gonna go, let's just focus on it and say it one more time.

• 12:53Mary Beth Barone?

Well, the rule of thirds, though.

• 12:54Benito Skinner?

Of course, one more later. So here's the thing, but yeah, I think she's incredible. I mean, also, that must be so gratifying in the end to get to like, do the end. Like, I've been thinking about that a lot of like, getting to tell a story and getting to wrap it up. Like, we really are out here just completely raw. Like, overcompensating really ended raw.

• 13:13Mary Beth Barone?

  It's raw.

• 13:14Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 13:15Mary Beth Barone?

And we're excited to see where you take it.

• 13:16Benito Skinner?

You were so good that day. And I do wanna say to anyone who, I'm so excited. The overcompensating score and soundtrack is now available. I think everywhere, it should be Amazon Music, Apple and Spotify. I was just listening, walking around London. I did cry, so I would say this soundtrack, it could send you to the looney bin if you're not really just making sure.

• 13:38Mary Beth Barone?

In the right place for it.

• 13:39Benito Skinner?

Check in with yourself. It is so unbelievable. That was the chair. Now I have to do repetition to prove. There you go. So.

• 13:48Mary Beth Barone?

  Cracking me up today.

• 13:49Benito Skinner?

I know. Alex Summers, George Daniel, George Daniel, Charlie XCX, Amber Bane. Wow.

• 13:57Mary Beth Barone?

  Fabulous.

• 13:57Benito Skinner?

Just wanna say thank you. And that took a long time because, you know, we had to get all our ducks in a row. But they took so much pride in their work. It's so, go listen. It's just like, do your homework to it. You know, I was thinking, it's a lot like Teenage Dream. You can fuck to it, you can cry to it, you can dance to it, you can fight to it, and you can die to it.

• 14:12Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 14:13Benito Skinner?

Work out to it, yeah, definitely. There's some hits, but it's like the best score I've ever heard.

• 14:18Mary Beth Barone?

I can't wait to blast it in our hotel room later.

• 14:20Benito Skinner?

Oh, my God. The Are We Friends?

• 14:24Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah. Actually, it's one of the, I can't really hum it. Hey, Veronis, it is me and Pinky here, bringing you the one ad for this week, if you can even believe. Christmas come early, we only have one ad. And today, we're gonna be talking about AGZ. I've got my morning routine down with AG1 and now I'm optimizing my nighttime ritual with AGZ. AGZ is the nightly drink that helps you wind down and rest up. It is a melatonin-free formula with clinically studied herbs, adaptogens, and minerals. So it asks here to describe how my sleep is affected by being a parent, a working professional, an athlete, or just a health-conscious individual. I am two of those things. I am a working professional

• 15:08Mary Beth Barone?

and a health-conscious individual. I mean, obviously, sleep is so important. It's like kind of the only piece that we have. So it's important to optimize your sleep, and you can do that with AGZ. AGZ helps you make the most out of your day by helping your body and mind wind down before bed, optimizing sleep quality during the night, and it helps you wake up feeling rested without grogginess. • 16:25Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, what's your mini-ride?

• 16:26Mary Beth Barone?

I'm mini-riding for people who are my friends fucking my exes. Like, I'm not mad about it. I just think it's a fascinating move, is all I'll say. I don't think there's like ownership over people, right? And if you've never met me and you fuck one of my exes, like, obviously, that's fair game. I mean, I still might be weird to you at an event, but that's my prerogative. And what did I say at the beginning of the season? My opinions aren't always correct. They're nothing more than opinions. But I think to be my friend and do it is just utterly fascinating.

• 16:53Benito Skinner?

Yeah, and that's one where I'm like, I don't know. You must not have gone to a Catholic school, because the only thing I was given is like deep guilt.

• 17:01Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 17:01Benito Skinner?

It's crazy. But yeah, I mean, that was an immediate block for me. I think I know what you're talking about.

• 17:07Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah. It's just weird.

• 17:09Benito Skinner?

It can be so simple. That's what I say to people. I found out that someone said something bad about Mary Beth at an event.

• 17:16Mary Beth Barone?

And court. It wasn't just me.

• 17:18Benito Skinner?

And I said, take, I go, take my phone, do it.

• 17:20Mary Beth Barone?

  Unfollow.

• 17:21Benito Skinner?

  Who did it? You?

• 17:23Mary Beth Barone?

  I don't remember.

• 17:24Benito Skinner?

  Cause I was driving.

• 17:26Mary Beth Barone?

So probably me. Cause you know, I'm all about safety on the roads.

• 17:29Benito Skinner?

  Totally.

• 17:30Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, it's fun. It's interesting. I guess just like people making choices that I wouldn't necessarily do, but whatever.

• 17:38Benito Skinner?

  Life is a highway.

• 17:40Mary Beth Barone?

I guess the thing is like, at some point, if I go full like demon bitch mode, like a lot of people are gonna be really sad. Cause I'm gonna fucking decimate. I had to decimate someone this week.

• 17:50Benito Skinner?

  Who'd you get permission from?

• 17:51Mary Beth Barone?

I got permission from you to go in person and decimate someone.

• 17:54Benito Skinner?

Getting to write in all caps, decimate, you know, I'm.

• 17:58Mary Beth Barone?

  Destroy it.

• 17:59Benito Skinner?

Destroy it. The second I walked in here. I looked at you, I saw the book, I go, let's destroy it.

• 18:06Mary Beth Barone?

  Elizabeth Hurley in Gossip Girl.

• 18:07Benito Skinner?

Elizabeth Hurley in Gossip Girl, Summer, kind of wonderful. She takes Nate Archibald into a bedroom that later turns out to be hers in her mansion. And she asks a high schooler to fuck her ride.

• 18:18Mary Beth Barone?

Yes. So, yeah, I'm in a, I don't know. It's like, I, I might decimate some people soon. Like I got the taste for it. I don't do it much, but when I do it, like, you're gonna remember and you're gonna ruin the day.

• 18:32Benito Skinner?

  That deer remembers.

• 18:33Mary Beth Barone?

You're gonna ruin the day. I mean, the deer fucks my ex. And I wasn't as evolved as I am now. So, yeah.

• 18:40Benito Skinner?

So we're so happy to have you guys here today.

• 18:42Mary Beth Barone?

So thank you so much for joining us here at Ride.

• 18:44Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 18:45Mary Beth Barone?

And I guess what I'm riding for this week is you're gonna ride for.

• 18:49Benito Skinner?

I'm riding for the art of massage.

• 18:51Mary Beth Barone?

And I'm gonna ride for medicine.

• 18:53Benito Skinner?

  Oh, some would say.

• 18:55Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 18:56Benito Skinner?

Very intertwined. Do you mind if I go first? Would that be okay?

• 18:58Mary Beth Barone?

  I'll allow it this once.

• 19:00Benito Skinner?

  Just this once.

• 19:02Mary Beth Barone?

  Wait, where are we going?

• 19:03Benito Skinner?

Who cares? Ride. So massage. And this is obviously coming from Massage Privilege.

• 19:11Mary Beth Barone?

At this point, it's health privilege, travel privilege. I had to post about denim privilege the other day.

• 19:16Benito Skinner?

  It's Benny privilege.

• 19:17Mary Beth Barone?

And now we have massage privilege. But I want to say this as well. There are places you can go where massages are extremely inexpensive. And sometimes those are the best massages.

• 19:27Benito Skinner?

I'm dying to get one in Thailand. There's a few of these YouTube channels where these guys do it on the street. And it's like unbelievable. Like I think Thai massage is my favorite type of massage. It's like, it's truly so unbelievable. I love when someone walks on me.

• 19:38Mary Beth Barone?

You've taken me there a little, on a little date night.

• 19:40Benito Skinner?

My new thing too, I guess if I died for something, it would be gatekeeping. Because I just think like, how much time do we have left?

• 19:46Mary Beth Barone?

  We don't know.

• 19:46Benito Skinner?

Like, let's hit, let's hit the ground running.

• 19:48Mary Beth Barone?

So I guess I should say, everyone that fucked my exes.

• 19:50Benito Skinner?

Yeah, well, save it for next week.

• 19:51Mary Beth Barone?

Because we don't have that much time left.

• 19:53Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, exactly.

• 19:53Mary Beth Barone?

  Series finale, series finale.

• 19:55Benito Skinner?

Well, the series finale of Rite will just be like, kind of audio clips? Like we're reading names for something?

• 19:59Mary Beth Barone?

Well, here's what I'm dying for. I want someone to do a tar edit of the podcast like they do in the movie where they cut everything together to make it sound like she's being so fucked up. Like edit us to be saying like, I don't think women should have rights.

• 20:14Benito Skinner?

That was my one thing in that movie where I'm like, I don't, I don't think students would believe. Like that to me was my one thing where I was like, wait.

• 20:21Mary Beth Barone?

Students might not, but the average like person who is online might. I mean, the media literacy is so bad.

• 20:28Benito Skinner?

We're fucked for deep fakes and AI.

• 20:29Mary Beth Barone?

I know. I don't like it. But I think it'd be funny to have an edit of the pod.

• 20:32Benito Skinner?

  Oh, definitely.

• 20:33Mary Beth Barone?

  That makes us look crazy.

• 20:34Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, I'm sure that'll, I don't know how much editing they'll need.

• 20:37Mary Beth Barone?

No, like, but to make it look like we're saying bad stuff. Women shouldn't be in the workplace, that sort of thing.

• 20:42Benito Skinner?

  They'd find that easy.

• 20:43Mary Beth Barone?

  I'm sure.

• 20:44Benito Skinner?

We can give that to them. Well, you just gave it to them clean.

• 20:45Mary Beth Barone?

  So, yeah.

• 20:46Benito Skinner?

Yeah, there's this place in LA called, I believe it's Thai Massage on Hillhurst. They are so fabulous. Like everyone is just so skilled and talented. And you can go in, you can get 30, you can get 60, you can get 90. If I get 90, they're like, every time they go, you're gonna enjoy your sleep tonight.

• 21:04Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 21:04Benito Skinner?

Because they know. One time though, I got a massage and I will say, I like, I like deep. I like, let's take it there. I don't want to be tickled, I want to be rocked.

• 21:13Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 21:13Benito Skinner?

You don't understand. I want to be.

• 21:15Mary Beth Barone?

  I get it.

• 21:17Benito Skinner?

And so, so I go and I went to Thai Massage on Hillhurst. And after, the woman looked at me and she was like, Should you be driving home? I just, I literally, I saw what I looked like in my car mirror after. I looked like a hoe. It was so, I looked like I had been fucking ran through. My hair was full Jimmy Neutron. My face was so, I mean, cause it's just, it is so good for you. It's good for serotonin.

• 21:47Mary Beth Barone?

  Circulation.

• 21:48Benito Skinner?

If any of this isn't true, I don't care. Also serotonin, endorphins, circulation. I take an Epsom salt bath after. Like as someone who I, I got a really bad back when I was in high school. Cause during track.

• 22:02Benito Skinner?

Cause like carrying this ass across the finish line, you know?

• 22:06Mary Beth Barone?

  Not everyone can do it.

• 22:07Benito Skinner?

  Not everybody can do it.

• 22:08Mary Beth Barone?

  Not everyone's capable.

• 22:09Benito Skinner?

Thank you. There's also Swedish massage, Swedish massage.

• 22:13Mary Beth Barone?

  That's a tough one.

• 22:13Benito Skinner?

So difficult to say. Swedish massage. But which I also just like, I, it's divine. It's divine intervention and I love it so much. But yeah, I think I'm, I'm Thai, Thai first. And I love like an athletic sports massage. I obviously, I do like to train quite a bit. So, but it's this bad low back from track. And I just need someone to get into these hips, lock in with their elbow and just rock my fucking world. And oh my God, I love, I love a dry brush too. I love lymphatic massage.

• 22:44Mary Beth Barone?

I haven't done one of those yet.

• 22:46Benito Skinner?

I had one of those earlier. You are, I mean, it's, your body is tea. It's like, what do you want me to say?

• 22:51Mary Beth Barone?

I go to the Now Massage sometimes in LA.

• 22:54Benito Skinner?

  They do great work.

• 22:55Mary Beth Barone?

There was a massage place in New York that I went to. And well, there's a place on West Fourth Street that's famous. There's a woman who does massage there named May. And if you look them up, like every single review is just saying how like May changed their lives on Google reviews.

• 23:08Benito Skinner?

  How have I not been?

• 23:08Mary Beth Barone?

  I don't know. It's, she's like so wonderful. M A E, I believe.

• 23:12Benito Skinner?

  Done.

• 23:12Mary Beth Barone?

And so I, but I moved away from the West Village. So when I was in, in Brooklyn, I found a place and it was like a membership and you pay per month and you can go whatever, three times. But I went in, it was a 60 minute massage and they started 10 minutes after. And then they finished five minutes early. And I was like, can we talk about, cause that's not 60 minutes? And she was like, well, we give you 10 minutes to change out of your clothes and five minutes to get dressed.

• 23:37Benito Skinner?

Were you in a corset, like a full dress?

• 23:38Mary Beth Barone?

  I was corseted.

• 23:39Benito Skinner?

  A three piece suit.

• 23:40Mary Beth Barone?

I was wearing two corsets, one on top, one on bottom.

• 23:42Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 23:43Mary Beth Barone?

And she just said, like, we just want to make sure you have time to get out of that. And so I was like, I was just like, you know what? Like, I don't wanna, I don't wanna pay that much for a 45 minute massage. It's just not 60 minutes. And like, if you wanna call it a 45 minute massage, and if that's what I thought I was paying for, like totally valid, totally valid.

• 24:00Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 24:00Mary Beth Barone?

But to call it 60 and you're, you're shaving 15 minutes off the top.

• 24:05Benito Skinner?

  Tough.

• 24:05Mary Beth Barone?

  I mean, I can't do math, but like, that's a percentage.

• 24:08Benito Skinner?

  As a people pleaser,

• 24:09Mary Beth Barone?

  That's a number.

• 24:10Benito Skinner?

As a people pleaser, I'd go, best massage in my life.

• 24:12Mary Beth Barone?

I just said, I'm gonna cancel my membership. But like, I'm sure plenty of people go and they are fine with that timetable. It just wasn't for me.

• 24:18Benito Skinner?

I will say, what I love about this is that you, you set your boundaries, you knew what you wanted. My thing is, I, for so long, I wouldn't be vocal if they start and I did want harder or,

• 24:27Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 24:28Benito Skinner?

I've only said it a couple of times, but maybe a little softer.

• 24:30Mary Beth Barone?

  Speak up bitch challenge.

• 24:31Benito Skinner?

Speak up bitch challenge, and you might be complicit.

• 24:34Mary Beth Barone?

  You might be complicit.

• 24:35Benito Skinner?

  You're sitting through that massage.

• 24:36Mary Beth Barone?

I have started physical therapy at this place in Midtown where they do bodywork, cause I have a bad shoulder and my hands were really hurting from holding my phone. And I just thought, it's been five years, I've been to PT before, nothing was helping. I've done the exercises. So I go to this new place where they do bodywork. So he is really getting in there.

• 24:54Benito Skinner?

  What could be better?

• 24:55Mary Beth Barone?

And like, he fixed me. My shoulder still flares up quite a bit, but my hands are like, better. And he was like, you sleep on your stomach, that's the problem. Cause my neck was getting stiff at night. So I have had to completely change my sleep style, which was on my stomach for 34 years of my life.

• 25:13Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 25:13Mary Beth Barone?

And so now I have to back and side sleep, but it has like, totally changed my life. I don't know if you can tell, I'm in a much better mood lately.

• 25:20Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, no.

• 25:20Mary Beth Barone?

And you hadn't really mentioned that.

• 25:21Benito Skinner?

I've definitely noticed. There's been a shift, for sure. No, that makes me so happy, because I do think that these things can heal. Like, I, as I get more massage and like, as like, my body is, and is being less tense, and I drink a ton of water after, I have to say, you have to drink a ton of water and do an Epsom salt soak? Oh my god, you'll just feel like a million bucks, you'll have the best sleep of your freaking life.

• 25:43Mary Beth Barone?

Well, you soak in two inches of water.

• 25:45Benito Skinner?

I'm sorry, LA is always in a drought. You're so hurtful to me.

• 25:48Mary Beth Barone?

You make up for what the Kardashians do to their lawns with your two inch bathwater.

• 25:52Benito Skinner?

Well, that's my big thing. Yeah. But so, okay, I will tell this story and I'm laughing about it, but I know that it's like a slightly triggering thing, but it did happen and I just.

• 26:04Mary Beth Barone?

  You were assaulted.

• 26:06Benito Skinner?

So I was assaulted at a massage parlor once, but here's the thing. I think research all the places before you go and be really thoughtful. That's why I'm telling you, Ty on Hillhurst, that if you're in LA, that's a great one to go to. Definitely like find out who's rubbing you down in a dark room for an hour, I think is important. But I do just have to laugh because the thing, and I get, we might have to cut this, but I kind of just like, this is what happened.

• 26:34Mary Beth Barone?

  It's your story.

• 26:35Benito Skinner?

And it's hard not to just totally laugh at it now because, so I'm getting this massage and this, this guy's like, okay, great. Yeah. I mean, it's kind of easier without the blanket. And I'm like, no, I don't think it is. Also, I never get fully naked. It's like, I don't, you know, it's, I'm not in my house.

• 26:51Mary Beth Barone?

  I do sometimes.

• 26:52Benito Skinner?

Sometimes I get that. If I'm like, if I know the person, like we've been there, but if I'm just like hopping into a place, which this was like very drive by vibes, like I was just popping in, which is not always like, I don't know, I wouldn't necessarily recommend that.

• 27:04Mary Beth Barone?

But it's not your fault. What happened to you is not your fault.

• 27:06Benito Skinner?

Thank you, sweetie. And this one thing happened though, where I was oiled down and then all of a sudden, the guy just goes and just slaps my ass. It did jiggle. I'll just be totally real. So I assume he got what he needed out of it.

• 27:21Mary Beth Barone?

When he said this is easier without the blanket, he meant slapping your ass.

• 27:24Benito Skinner?

Yeah. No, I think so. And he said, he was like bubble butt. And I was like, oh, okay. I think.

• 27:32Mary Beth Barone?

  Thank you so much.

• 27:33Benito Skinner?

Yeah. I was like, no, and thank you for saying that. I did like laugh in the moment because I felt so uncomfortable. And I was like, oh, and also like, I'm totally good now. Like I have to go.

• 27:44Mary Beth Barone?

  Okay. So you extricated yourself.

• 27:45Benito Skinner?

I did. Yeah. I mean, which was so sad. Like I wanted the rest of the massage, but I will say like, he didn't have the stones, like it, the real stones, which I like the hot rocks on my back, but also like it wasn't to the level. Where's that? Where'd I get that from? Is that Bethany Frankel? Where she's like, it's not at the level? Maybe. Who knows what just comes through. You know?

• 28:04Mary Beth Barone?

  You're a vessel.

• 28:05Benito Skinner?

Yeah, I'm sad this happened, but I guess I serve as a warning to everyone. Research the places you're going to. Cause I guess finding out later, this was a place that people frequented.

• 28:14Mary Beth Barone?

Okay, to get fingered and stuff.

• 28:17Benito Skinner?

Finger blast, yeah, to have a finger up the booty ass bitch.

• 28:20Mary Beth Barone?

He should have asked first, because that's just a.

• 28:22Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 28:23Mary Beth Barone?

That's just a thing you can quickly just check in on.

• 28:24Benito Skinner?

  Totally.

• 28:25Mary Beth Barone?

Before you sort of do that.

• 28:26Benito Skinner?

Yeah, it's just crazy to then sit back in your car and like you just got your ass swatted. You're kind of covered in hot oil.

• 28:31Mary Beth Barone?

And your clothes are getting all oily.

• 28:33Benito Skinner?

Yeah, it's like, I didn't get the hot towel to kind of get it all off my body.

• 28:37Mary Beth Barone?

You just kind of fled. You fled the scene.

• 28:39Benito Skinner?

Yeah, but I, back to the good, hey, and I just.

• 28:44Mary Beth Barone?

You just don't want to, we don't want anyone walking into a situation.

• 28:47Benito Skinner?

  Exactly.

• 28:48Mary Beth Barone?

That's the last thing we would want.

• 28:49Benito Skinner?

Yeah, because then I know you'll tweet Benny Drama told me to get a massage.

• 28:52Mary Beth Barone?

  And now it's your fault.

• 28:52Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 28:53Mary Beth Barone?

They just take you to court.

• 28:54Benito Skinner?

Two red handprints on this ass.

• 28:55Mary Beth Barone?

I have found sometimes lately, I'm like, I don't want to recommend certain things. Like I was going to ride for like going on vacation alone, but like I actually can't advise anyone to do that.

• 29:04Benito Skinner?

  No.

• 29:05Mary Beth Barone?

So I just think like sometimes just know that there are certain things you ride for where we're like, but we don't want to put our girls in a situation.

• 29:11Benito Skinner?

There's like, obviously all of this is at your own responsibility. I'd say namely Ice Breakers Ice Cube.

• 29:17Mary Beth Barone?

  Sure, yeah.

• 29:18Benito Skinner?

  That's like.

• 29:18Mary Beth Barone?

If you're gonna play fast and loose with those things, it's not on us.

• 29:20Benito Skinner?

It's on you, like you signed a waiver.

• 29:22Mary Beth Barone?

We recommend you use it as it's instructed on the instructions, yeah.

• 29:25Benito Skinner?

I said, put four in my mouth. I actually take that back.

• 29:27Mary Beth Barone?

But you said that's what you do. That's not saying that that's what anyone else. But sweetie, they're gonna hear that and they're gonna want to be just like their daddy. I know.

• 29:33Benito Skinner?

But yeah, massage has really helped me and I really, it's such a great way. Like as I enter the writer's room and I'm hunched over and I'm in this library writing, what could be like the next great American record, I'm thinking to myself, every now and then going for a little massage, I will say there's a great one on Bedford Avenue. I wish I had the name of it, but you can go.

• 29:52Mary Beth Barone?

Oh, right, by your old place.

• 29:53Benito Skinner?

I loved, oh my God, it was so amazing.

• 29:55Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, I guess if you don't live in New York, LA, we got nothing for you, in the way of a massage.

• 29:59Benito Skinner?

Well, I assume you just can't get one, right?

• 30:01Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, I don't think they have them.

• 30:02Benito Skinner?

They don't have them. I would love the Cher's ones too. If you ever just want to be like completely embarrassed, I would say like the deepest embarrassment you can feel is get one of those publicly at an airport. I thought they were behind like a wall.

• 30:12Mary Beth Barone?

  Or a gay guy night.

• 30:14Benito Skinner?

  My god, again, I just.

• 30:16Mary Beth Barone?

  It all comes back around.

• 30:17Benito Skinner?

  I live my truths.

• 30:18Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 30:19Benito Skinner?

  Period.

• 30:20Mary Beth Barone?

I think it's, I think it's wonderful to be safe out there. So, okay, this happened to me. I.

• 30:26Benito Skinner?

I hate, so to go from that into what you just said, I'm scared.

• 30:29Mary Beth Barone?

This is actually kind of funny because obviously, you know, I'll take a gay guy over a straight guy any day of the week.

• 30:33Benito Skinner?

  Of course.

• 30:33Mary Beth Barone?

But when I asked for a male masseuse and someone, a flamer comes up to me. It's limp wrists.

• 30:42Mary Beth Barone?

  It's not what I meant.

• 30:43Benito Skinner?

You go, I, I said I wanted hands on me. Also, yeah, I, it's funny, I don't really have preference. It can be anyone. But sometimes when it's, it's Thai massage and it's a man, I am like, holy fuck.

• 30:55Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, they're gonna rock your shit.

• 30:56Benito Skinner?

You need to hold those poles a little tighter. Like, you're gonna break my back.

• 31:00Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, massages are one of those things where it's like, you know that phrase that it's like pizza is like sex? Like, when it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad, it's still pretty good?

• 31:10Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 31:11Mary Beth Barone?

Well, with massage, it's like the opposite. It's like when it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad, like, you could get injured.

• 31:18Benito Skinner?

You could get injured, and also, the worst is when it's just like, it's just not.

• 31:21Mary Beth Barone?

  It's nothing.

• 31:22Benito Skinner?

It's like tickly, and you know that, like, like, I'm there for a service. Do you get me?

• 31:26Mary Beth Barone?

  Totally.

• 31:27Benito Skinner?

I'm there to get my shit rocked.

• 31:29Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 31:29Benito Skinner?

  Like, I.

• 31:30Mary Beth Barone?

And what are you doing at the end? You're tipping. I know you're tipping.

• 31:32Benito Skinner?

  Sweetie.

• 31:33Mary Beth Barone?

  You gotta tip.

• 31:33Benito Skinner?

  Don't be crass.

• 31:34Mary Beth Barone?

  You gotta tip these folks.

• 31:35Benito Skinner?

  Twenty-five percent, be for real.

• 31:36Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah. I tip my waxer twenty-five percent as well.

• 31:40Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 31:40Mary Beth Barone?

Because it's just like, you saw that, you saw all that.

• 31:43Benito Skinner?

Yeah. Well, you, to me, I'm like, you just took care of me and you made me feel really good. Thank you so much. Like, what an incredible skill. I love asking, like, does your family ask for these all the time? And every time, every masseuse is like, I don't know. Like, sometimes, like, my partner will.

• 31:55Mary Beth Barone?

See, if I was married to a physical therapist or a masseuse, I'm like.

• 31:58Benito Skinner?

I'd go like this, at dinner.

• 31:59Mary Beth Barone?

Give it to me, baby. In many ways, I think for you, massage acts as a form of medicine.

• 32:06Benito Skinner?

  Medicine.

• 32:06Mary Beth Barone?

Which is what I would like to talk about today. So, I have a joke about medicine in my hour. I'm not gonna do it right now, but I obviously have deep ties to the medical industry, medical practice, and medicine, with my dad being a doctor and my mom being a nurse. So, I've long believed in the power of medicine. I think eastern or western, it's sort of whatever works for you. I would definitely say I'm more whatever the one is that we do in America. I don't know what direction is.

• 32:33Benito Skinner?

That joint and the juice just.

• 32:34Mary Beth Barone?

  It's hitting the cracker sandwich.

• 32:35Benito Skinner?

  It's just hit home.

• 32:37Mary Beth Barone?

I think we do eastern medicine, but I'm not sure.

• 32:39Benito Skinner?

  I believe.

• 32:40Mary Beth Barone?

  I don't know.

• 32:41Benito Skinner?

  Ooh.

• 32:42Mary Beth Barone?

  I'm not sure.

• 32:43Benito Skinner?

  This could end right.

• 32:44Mary Beth Barone?

This could end right. Basically pharmaceuticals.

• 32:47Benito Skinner?

  Every day in my garden.

• 32:48Mary Beth Barone?

I think there's types of medicine, there's types of healing, there's like, you know, I think going to therapy is a type of medicine for me, working out is a type of medicine. But today I want to talk about pharmaceuticals and the ones that work for you. It's like, it's so cool when you are sick or you have a problem and you literally, there isn't medicine that's like made for what you're going through.

• 33:11Benito Skinner?

  I mean, it's topical.

• 33:12Mary Beth Barone?

I mean, how cool is science?

• 33:13Benito Skinner?

  And it is a topical.

• 33:14Mary Beth Barone?

  How cool is science?

• 33:15Benito Skinner?

  It's incredible.

• 33:16Mary Beth Barone?

Okay, penicillin is so fucking cool. And I used to get strep throat all the time as a kid, you know, you get that little syrupy thing.

• 33:22Benito Skinner?

Why is that such a thing?

• 33:23Mary Beth Barone?

I had a pacifier until I was four, so I, it's just covered in germs.

• 33:27Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 33:28Mary Beth Barone?

And then I kept getting it.

• 33:29Benito Skinner?

My poor sister, her, her sons get home from school and they're like, okay, new virus just dropped.

• 33:33Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, new virus just dropped.

• 33:34Benito Skinner?

Yeah, I gotta give it to your mom.

• 33:35Mary Beth Barone?

School is a petri dish, ear infections.

• 33:38Benito Skinner?

Ear infections, I remember one fucked my shit up as a kid.

• 33:42Mary Beth Barone?

  Pink eye?

• 33:42Benito Skinner?

I was watching Out of the Box and I was like, girl.

• 33:44Mary Beth Barone?

  Cause you're home, sick.

• 33:45Benito Skinner?

  I'm like, I'm actually tripping.

• 33:47Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, I, I got pink eye as a child, I got really bad pink eye. That, I mean, unfortunately I did have to get held down by two of my cousins and they had to put the drops in because I just hated it so much. Also, when I would go to the doctor, I hated getting shots. So one time my sister Pam had to take me and so I was like, oh, easy. Like, my mom's not here, I'm, I'm not getting a shot today. Like, I'm gonna get out of this. I put my hands in the shirt, you know, I went like this. And I was just like, you're not gonna do it.

• 34:14Benito Skinner?

  Oh, of course.

• 34:15Mary Beth Barone?

  You're not gonna do it.

• 34:16Benito Skinner?

  You're not gonna do it.

• 34:17Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, I mean, I was like screaming, crying. Also, one time my mom was taking me and Greg and Tom, so my siblings close to me and aged to the pediatrician, but she didn't want me to know, or she didn't want me to know what we were going for. And in the car, Tom goes, are we all getting shots or just me and Greg? And my mom looks back at him, death stare.

• 34:33Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 34:34Mary Beth Barone?

She goes, way to spill the beans. Obviously, we were all getting shots, but if she had told me before, I would have, I would have handcuffed myself to the house.

• 34:41Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, of course.

• 34:41Mary Beth Barone?

So I would have never been in that car.

• 34:43Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 34:43Mary Beth Barone?

But now I understand that, that it was all to help me. I think unfortunately, right now, we live in a society where Florida is removing vaccine mandates. And more and more people are opting out of vaccinating their children. I think there's like, the rates are just going down. Measles is spreading.

• 34:59Benito Skinner?

  Sorry.

• 35:00Mary Beth Barone?

  People are gonna die.

• 35:01Benito Skinner?

I'm sorry. The measles spreading and shit, I'm just like, oh my God. Also, you're like putting other people at risk.

• 35:07Mary Beth Barone?

Other people at risk that maybe can't get the vaccine for medical reasons.

• 35:10Benito Skinner?

  So demonic.

• 35:10Mary Beth Barone?

And so I just think like, it's insane to me that we would rebuke science and say like, hey, we have this thing that's gonna make our lives better and make the world safer. And we're gonna not do that anymore.

• 35:21Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 35:21Mary Beth Barone?

Like, I'm waiting for like, Republicans to be like, we're outlawing seatbelts. It's like, how many people do you want to die because of your policies? It seems like anything that makes sense and makes people safer, they just wanna completely do away with for some reason. So I'm just like, please trust the medicine.

• 35:37Benito Skinner?

What's the logic there? I mean, I guess I'm just like the Maha of it all. I am just kind of like, what's the?

• 35:42Mary Beth Barone?

They've convinced people, vulnerable people, that vaccines cause autism.

• 35:48Benito Skinner?

  Yes, which, uh.

• 35:50Mary Beth Barone?

  Which isn't true.

• 35:51Benito Skinner?

  Yes.

• 35:51Mary Beth Barone?

And it's very dangerous to spread lies like that.

• 35:54Benito Skinner?

But what is the, I guess, what is the motive?

• 35:56Mary Beth Barone?

  I don't know. That I don't know.

• 35:57Benito Skinner?

Because to me, I'm trying to figure it out and I'm like, but I, I would definitely think like it was kind of on both sides, like an agenda, you know, Big Pharma. Like, I'm kind of thinking like, wouldn't that like?

• 36:08Mary Beth Barone?

  It's confusing.

• 36:08Benito Skinner?

For like, funding, for campaigns. I know my big thing with the coal dial.

• 36:13Mary Beth Barone?

  I know.

• 36:14Benito Skinner?

That's kind of low key Maha of me, though.

• 36:15Mary Beth Barone?

  No, it kind of is.

• 36:16Benito Skinner?

I'm taking it all back. I, there, I now know why there's not.

• 36:20Mary Beth Barone?

I don't know what the goal is. I don't know. I guess in, some people think because of the propaganda they've been served, that it makes like shampoo, the chemicals in shampoos and stuff, like give kids like other problems.

• 36:31Benito Skinner?

This drives me crazy. Clean beauty has really come into the space and kind of scared people of some of these chemicals that like just are preservatives.

• 36:40Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 36:41Benito Skinner?

And make sure that like the product works. Yeah, it's like. I would say that our culture is built right now on like absolute fear.

• 36:49Mary Beth Barone?

Fear and fear mongering. Here's the thing, when I have a UTI, I go to the doctor. They have a solution for that. When I have dermatitis, I go to the doctor.

• 36:57Benito Skinner?

  Are you looking?

• 36:57Mary Beth Barone?

There's a solution for that. When I have BV, it's like all these medical breakthroughs that help keep us healthy, especially as women and like preventative care, which we're going to talk about next week.

• 37:08Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 37:08Mary Beth Barone?

It's, it's really scary and I just like, I'm so thankful that we have scientists and doctors who dedicate their lives to researching.

• 37:17Benito Skinner?

  Your mom and dad.

• 37:18Mary Beth Barone?

And my parents, and that's how they met. They met at the emergency room at St. Vincent's.

• 37:23Benito Skinner?

She gave him a shot in the butt.

• 37:24Mary Beth Barone?

And she gave my dad a shot in the butt.

• 37:26Benito Skinner?

She said, shit, I know you're caked up like that.

• 37:29Mary Beth Barone?

  Wait a minute, hey.

• 37:30Benito Skinner?

Fuck, you're kind of fucking caked up.

• 37:32Mary Beth Barone?

No, the real story is that they were pumping someone's stomach. My mom was pumping someone's stomach and my dad came up and asked her on a date.

• 37:38Benito Skinner?

In the middle, that guy died.

• 37:40Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, well, yeah, because he was so excited about the date.

• 37:42Benito Skinner?

She was like, oh my God, he finally asked me. Wait, this is so crazy because I just visited a friend who had a really bad stomach problem and was having like such intense stomach issues and with her eating. And then she went to the doctor, she got put on the antibiotic, which I think, I think like everything in moderation in a way, like I know sometimes people like will just do so many antibiotics and but I think it's like.

• 38:03Mary Beth Barone?

  Or like the fact that.

• 38:04Benito Skinner?

  Being thoughtful about it.

• 38:05Mary Beth Barone?

We get ads for medicines. I do think we're probably over medicated in this country. I mean, I think that's like factual.

• 38:10Benito Skinner?

  Yes.

• 38:11Mary Beth Barone?

So I'm not, I'm obviously not advocating for going to your doctor with a laundry list of medicines that you want to get on. What I'm saying is that I love when there is something that is solvable and fixable and you can go to the, get a, go to the doctor, get a prescription and then it goes away. That's what I'm saying.

• 38:25Benito Skinner?

And this is what happened to her. She went on antibiotics and she was thoughtful while she was doing it because obviously with bacteria, sometimes you kill all the good bacteria, it's really the whole thing. She is like, she said, it's completely gone. Like she just feels fantastic. It's so crazy that not everyone in this country can have that.

• 38:40Mary Beth Barone?

  I know.

• 38:40Benito Skinner?

And I really think that is so deeply detestable.

• 38:44Mary Beth Barone?

  Health privilege.

• 38:45Benito Skinner?

  Health privilege is.

• 38:48Mary Beth Barone?

It's the disparity is gonna get bigger too, cuz even even now, after this big quote unquote, big beautiful bill, there's hospitals closing, there's emergency rooms closing, there's trauma centers closing, people are gonna have to travel further to get care. And so already on a system that was like, very overburdened, now it's just gonna get even worse. And so, it's really scary, and I think we have a lot to fix in our country. I mean, you can say what you want about the UK, but they do have the National Health Services, the NHS. It's sobering to think about the people that don't have access to these things. I wish there was more we could do, other than just like, voting and voting people out of office, cuz we can only do so much.

• 39:27Benito Skinner?

  But we're gonna do it.

• 39:28Mary Beth Barone?

  We're gonna do it.

• 39:29Benito Skinner?

  Do you understand?

• 39:30Mary Beth Barone?

We're gonna do it. And I just, as someone that's on doxycycline right now, cuz I have a little, I have a little dermatitis.

• 39:37Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 39:37Mary Beth Barone?

I'm just thankful, I'm grateful. It's gratitude. And we come back to gratitude a lot on this podcast.

• 39:42Benito Skinner?

  And cattitude, I'd say.

• 39:43Mary Beth Barone?

And cattitude. We're always mentioning both.

• 39:44Benito Skinner?

I, I'm on a prescription right now. I don't wanna talk about it yet, but it is working for my dermatitis. I just don't wanna say this and then everyone rush to the hospitals. I don't want the hospitals overflowing.

• 39:56Mary Beth Barone?

The hospitals are already overflowing. They can't take that right now. Let's wait till there's a little day.

• 40:00Benito Skinner?

What did Benny drama say? Yeah, let's see like how long, let's see if this really does work. But I went to a doctor and they took really good care of me. And I went to an allergist, they also took really good care of me.

• 40:10Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 40:10Benito Skinner?

And I'm probably gonna go to a dentist next week. Fuck it.

• 40:13Mary Beth Barone?

Oh my god, I love the dentist.

• 40:14Benito Skinner?

I, yeah. I mean, I had so many cavities as a kid, so I think there's a lot of, um, trauma.

• 40:19Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 40:20Benito Skinner?

Associated with that. But my parents used to joke that they should have a statue of me there, because I paid for it.

• 40:26Mary Beth Barone?

  You paid for it, baby.

• 40:27Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, and I agree.

• 40:28Mary Beth Barone?

There's something so special when you find a doctor that you really like, and you really like fuck with their energy. Cuz they're, doctors are like every other profession. There's gonna be better ones than others. There's gonna be ones that make you uncomfortable. My gynecologist is a man, and he's a little like crass. But like, I kind of appreciate it. It feels very honest to me.

• 40:47Benito Skinner?

  My brain went to just.

• 40:49Mary Beth Barone?

  The most disgusting things.

• 40:51Benito Skinner?

  Like this pussy.

• 40:52Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, so he's sort of doing, well, he does a lot of, he does the mask, Jim Carrey's character from the mask.

• 40:58Benito Skinner?

We've been to space green every day.

• 40:59Mary Beth Barone?

Putting a speculum inside me, he goes, somebody stop me. It's really weird, but we laugh, we have a good laugh.

• 41:05Benito Skinner?

Do the bit and it chills you out.

• 41:07Mary Beth Barone?

And please just like go in for your checkups if you are able and, and my goodness, we just need to keep all the people on the right side of history, we need to keep them safe. We're already having less babies. I haven't fact checked this, but my brother, who I really trusted, say, yeah, Republicans are having more kids than they would and Democrats are having less. So that doesn't bode well for sort of our future. You know what you are, Benny?

• 41:29Benito Skinner?

  Hmm, a [BLEEP].

• 41:30Mary Beth Barone?

Your words, not mine. Babe, you're my ride or die.

• 41:33Benito Skinner?

Ride or die. Well, on that note, this has been so great in the library.

• 41:38Mary Beth Barone?

Let's get into ride or die. I mean, how am I not gonna be like, you know, talking about serious stuff in this room? It's so distinguished.

• 41:45Benito Skinner?

Of course, sweetie, and you are distinguished. I feel like Mr. Rogers in here.

• 41:48Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, I started the Mr. Rogers movie on the plane the other night.

• 41:51Benito Skinner?

  I'm sure it's amazing.

• 41:52Mary Beth Barone?

It was so different than what I thought, so I need to get back into it. It just wasn't what I was expecting.

• 41:56Benito Skinner?

  Okay.

• 41:56Mary Beth Barone?

  But I will finish it.

• 41:57Benito Skinner?

Mr. Rogers always said, expect the unexpected.

• 41:59Mary Beth Barone?

  Much like Shania Twain.

• 42:01Benito Skinner?

  Exactly.

• 42:01Mary Beth Barone?

In the letter that she wrote to her friend that fucked her husband, her current husband, she said, expect the unexpected.

• 42:07Benito Skinner?

She kind of wrote for that too in a lot of ways.

• 42:08Mary Beth Barone?

When she then married that woman's husband.

• 42:09Benito Skinner?

Yeah, that's a mini, I'd say a big ride for her.

• 42:12Mary Beth Barone?

I mean, yeah, so we will get into ride or die. I love massage.

• 42:16Benito Skinner?

  Thank you.

• 42:17Mary Beth Barone?

Whenever I think to go get one, obviously you have to like live within your means and whatever, whatever. I mean, how many, how many disclaimers can we do on one episode of the podcast?

• 42:23Benito Skinner?

You just, you get this one life, go treat yourself and get a massage.

• 42:26Mary Beth Barone?

I know, I know, please. And also, it's a really great gift.

• 42:29Benito Skinner?

It's such a good gift. Oh, my God, what an amazing thing to get, like your parent, your lover, your friend, who's going through it.

• 42:36Mary Beth Barone?

Your friend who's going through it.

• 42:37Benito Skinner?

Remember that day where I said, let's just go get massages?

• 42:39Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 42:40Benito Skinner?

I was happy to introduce you to my friends.

• 42:42Mary Beth Barone?

And you treated me and that was wonderful.

• 42:44Benito Skinner?

  It was fabulous.

• 42:44Mary Beth Barone?

I do think like it's hit or miss and you have to just, it's sort of like with dating, it's like, you know, some masseuses just aren't gonna be a good match for you and that's okay.

• 42:54Benito Skinner?

I love you. You look so cute today.

• 42:55Mary Beth Barone?

  Thanks.

• 42:55Benito Skinner?

I ride for medicine, of course. I think medicine is incredible. Medicine can heal. Medicine can help. Medicine is, it's us in a lot of ways. I hope you're my medicine in a lot of ways.

• 43:08Mary Beth Barone?

What did Devin say to us last night at the restaurant? She said, "I dumped my antidepressants down the toilet because I found ride."

• 43:16Benito Skinner?

And we said, "Devin, now, don't do that, sweetie."

• 43:19Mary Beth Barone?

  Devin, now, please be careful.

• 43:20Benito Skinner?

I have to pee so bad, I think we just have to stop or else I will just kind of piss myself in the library.

• 43:24Mary Beth Barone?

  And babe, that's the episode.

• 43:25Benito Skinner?

And London can't see me like that.

• 43:26Mary Beth Barone?

That's the episode, though, my love.

• 43:28Benito Skinner?

But I really do ride for medicine. And once I, once this really locks in, you guys, and just I get a couple more months.

• 43:34Mary Beth Barone?

  You're gonna reveal.

• 43:35Benito Skinner?

I'll be writing some scripts, let's just say that. Drama M.D., my love.

• 43:39Mary Beth Barone?

I can't wait. The doctor will see you now.

• 43:42Benito Skinner?

To all the boys I've rimmed before. Oh, my exit.

• 43:48Mary Beth Barone?

Benny, babe, eyes on the road. Benny, go!

• 44:01Speaker 00
