550. Broken, Blacklisted, and Saved by Comedy | Tyler Fischer

Actor and comedian Tyler Fischer joins Dr. Jordan B. Peterson to unpack a wild, raw, and brutally honest life story—from drinking at age ten to getting banned from Gutfeld and blacklisted by Hollywood. They dive deep into family trauma, addiction, therapy, racism in casting, and finding success amidst broken systems. Tyler and Jordan reflect on Kill Tony, the uncanny impersonation Joe Rogan forbade, and what it really means to go all in on a dream. • 1:15Jordan B. Peterson?

Are you a conservative comic? Is that a reasonable thing to say no?

• 1:18Speaker 05

No, I was as left as left can be. I didn't get the COVID shot. That's when people started saying I was conservative.

• 1:25Jordan B. Peterson?

So we saw each other on Kill Tony. I didn't expect that.

• 1:28Speaker 05

I didn't know you were gonna be there.

• 1:29Jordan B. Peterson?

Neither did I. Tony's a rough guy. Tony's so angry because everybody thinks he's gay.

• 1:34Speaker 05

  Well, fuck yeah. Fucking amazing.

• 1:37Jordan B. Peterson?

  You don't hold back.

• 1:38Speaker 05

I will, but I'm not gonna Russell Brand you. Manipulation of the condensation, of the reticulation, of the masturbation, of the masturbation, you know, and that's what I think about oat milk.

• 1:49Jordan B. Peterson?

How many impressions can you do?

• 1:50Speaker 05

Upwards of 50. By the way, I love RFK Jr., but I said, why does every woman under 30 sound like RFK Jr.? And I, this whole thing about, you know, this is how women sound in bed, you know? I want you to joke me. Yeah.

• 2:19Jordan B. Peterson?

Hello, everybody. So, a lighter podcast today, given that I'm speaking with a comedian, Tyler Fischer. Tyler's in the midst of a lengthy multi-city tour. He's got 100 venues lined up before the end of the year, before the end of 2025. It's light, of course, because it's comedy, but there's a dark edge to it, too, and that's also not so uncommon in comedy. And the dark edge is, ah, he's probably one of the most well-canceled comedians that are still staggering around, so to speak, today. And we delve into that. And we also investigated the relationship between acting, entertaining, being truthful, and being genuine.

• 3:03Jordan B. Peterson?

Tyler told me that when he was a kid, he used his acting ability, his comedic ability, as a defense, in a way, as a mode of coping, and that it wasn't until he was in his 30s that a more genuine approach to his thoughts melded with his acting ability. So, we delved into that. His familial background, the trouble he encountered as a kid, his encounter over a decade or more with cancel culture, his acting career, and then his reemergence, really, on the comedic stage prior to the tour that is going on now until the end of 2025.

• 3:48Jordan B. Peterson?

So, join us for that. So, think you deserve all this attention? Three cameras, like 10 people, all focused on you?

• 3:57Speaker 05

This is for you, come on. Though I did wear this for you.

• 4:03Jordan B. Peterson?

Okay, now you have to explain why, because the connection escapes me.

• 4:07Speaker 05

Just the color. You like colorful things.

• 4:08Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yes. Okay, okay.

• 4:10Speaker 05

So this was a, this was a Jordan-inspired, Jordan-inspired. I washed my shoes in the sink this morning for you.

• 4:18Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, that's impressive.

• 4:19Speaker 05

And then I made my damn bed.

• 4:21Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, that's really, you know, going the whole nine yards. So, um, the last time I saw you. Thank you, sir. Thank you.

• 4:28Speaker 05

  You're welcome.

• 4:29Jordan B. Peterson?

I think the last time I saw you was at Rogan's Comedy Mothership. Is that correct?

• 4:34Speaker 05

Yeah, we did Kill Tony together.

• 4:35Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, that was a surprise.

• 4:38Speaker 05

Yeah, how many, how many, uh, new comedians' careers do you think we destroyed that night?

• 4:42Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh.

• 4:43Speaker 05

Between my... Shit, can we swear in this?

• 4:46Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah. You, you can do whatever you want.

• 4:48Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 4:49Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, within, you know, reasonable bounds.

• 4:51Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah. I'm not gonna play Kanye's new song.

• 4:53Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 4:54Speaker 05

  Quite yet.

• 4:54Jordan B. Peterson?

  That's probably wise.

• 4:55Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 4:56Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 4:57Speaker 05

  But, uh, now did you...

• 4:58Jordan B. Peterson?

My, my friend Jonathan Pageau thinks the post-war interpretation of the world is coming to an end and that Kanye is leading that.

• 5:05Speaker 05

  That could be true.

• 5:06Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, who the hell knows what's true?

• 5:08Speaker 05

Yeah. Have you listened to the song?

• 5:10Jordan B. Peterson?

  Um, yes.

• 5:11Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 5:11Jordan B. Peterson?

When did I listen to it?

• 5:12Speaker 05

I heard it in the car as you pulled up.

• 5:14Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah. No, no, that was, that was old punk, I think, that I was playing. Or, uh, or the Pogues. I don't remember what was going on.

• 5:22Speaker 05

Yeah, I, I never, I liked old Kanye's music, and then I saw him get very cocky and, you know, godlike, and I, I shut off. I said, "This isn't gonna end well."

• 5:32Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, he's got a manic touch, eh?

• 5:34Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 5:35Jordan B. Peterson?

So, that, that, that inflates people.

• 5:37Speaker 05

  Yup.

• 5:38Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, so, yeah, it's very strange, and, um, it's very hard to know what to make of it. And I don't, and, I mean, I've seen a terrible rise in anti-Semitic content on, well, university campuses. Let's start there.

• 5:53Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 5:53Jordan B. Peterson?

  Go Columbia!

• 5:55Speaker 05

  The inclusive places.

• 5:56Jordan B. Peterson?

  And Harvard, bloody pathetic hellholes.

• 5:58Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 5:58Jordan B. Peterson?

And, uh, but on X2, and although...

• 6:00Speaker 05

They didn't actually even let me in. I, uh, applied. So, talk about not being inclusive.

• 6:05Jordan B. Peterson?

That would, yeah, that's for sure.

• 6:06Speaker 05

Pretty much no college let me in.

• 6:07Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah. Yeah, well, has it turned out okay for you?

• 6:11Speaker 05

It has. I did, I dropped out. I went to the University of Rhode Island for, uh, for acting.

• 6:16Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, you did?

• 6:17Speaker 05

The prestigious acting school in the middle of Rhode Island.

• 6:20Jordan B. Peterson?

  When did you do that?

• 6:23Speaker 05

Well, I'm thirty-eight, so I started at eighteen.

• 6:28Speaker 05

I took an improv class in high school, and I was a horrible kid, horrible. Just probably like you, I remember some stories about your childhood in Canada.

• 6:36Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, was I horrible? I don't know.

• 6:39Speaker 05

  You started drinking what age?

• 6:41Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah, fourteen.

• 6:42Speaker 05

  I got you beat, ten.

• 6:44Jordan B. Peterson?

  Ten?

• 6:44Speaker 05

Yeah, I might be as tall as you if I didn't start smoking, yes.

• 6:48Jordan B. Peterson?

What did you start drinking at ten?

• 6:51Speaker 05

I was drinking beer, I was smoking cigarettes, marijuana, you know, started dating around then. So I've kind of peaked, you know, you should have had me on twenty years ago.

• 7:02Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, what about the criminal activity?

• 7:04Speaker 05

Breaking into cars, you know, theft, robbing stores. I had a-

• 7:10Jordan B. Peterson?

Robbing stores in what sense? Shoplifting?

• 7:13Speaker 05

  Shoplifting.

• 7:13Jordan B. Peterson?

Okay, that's slightly different than actually robbing a store.

• 7:17Speaker 05

Sure, I stole this from Gap Kids. I was very tiny and I was hanging out with kids four or five years older than me. And parents went through-

• 7:26Jordan B. Peterson?

You could fit into places they couldn't go?

• 7:28Speaker 05

They would send me over the counter and into a little, there'd be a little space in a car window, and I would slip through and come out with the Discman and all that stuff. And so that's how I started getting attention, was doing these pretty extreme, but somewhat funny behaviors. And all these kids loved it. And my parents had just gone through a divorce, so I was probably seeking, you know, some father- trouble and maybe a father figure as well.

• 7:55Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, how'd that work out?

• 7:57Speaker 05

Good dad, but, you know, divorce is messy. And you're the first person I heard probably really criticize it properly.

• 8:07Jordan B. Peterson?

  Which divorce?

• 8:08Speaker 05

Yeah, I never heard anyone say that before.

• 8:10Jordan B. Peterson?

Tell me, tell me what you remember?

• 8:13Speaker 05

  From what you said?

• 8:14Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 8:15Speaker 05

You said, maybe not that it should be banned, but that it should be very rarely used.

• 8:22Jordan B. Peterson?

  Just like abortion.

• 8:24Speaker 05

  Just like abortion.

• 8:25Jordan B. Peterson?

  Safe, legal, and rare.

• 8:26Speaker 05

  Yeah, that reminds-

• 8:26Jordan B. Peterson?

Guess the Democrats kind of mucked up on the rare side, eh? I don't fancy that.

• 8:31Speaker 05

Well, with, yeah, with the abortion- Their time is limited, because look what's happening. Most, they're pro-abortion, they love getting rid of those kids. If they do have kids, they're chopping their genitals off. Now they're blowing each other's Teslas up, they can't even make it to the abortion clinic. So, I tell conservatives, I go, "Just give it 10 years. Just quiet down and sit back, and they'll, you know, they're killing themselves."

• 8:58Jordan B. Peterson?

So, what's it like being a, are you a conservative comic? Is that a reasonable thing to say?

• 9:03Speaker 05

No, no, I actually, I encourage comedians to not attach any political label to it. I mean, I was as, I was as left as left can be. I, you know, I grew up in a-

• 9:13Jordan B. Peterson?

  Hence the criminality.

• 9:14Speaker 05

Yes, exactly, and the Jew-hating. No, no, a lot of my-

• 9:19Jordan B. Peterson?

The right can manage that too.

• 9:20Speaker 05

I just found out I'm Jewish.

• 9:22Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, oh, oh, so you're self-hating now?

• 9:24Speaker 05

I'm part Jewish, yeah, yeah. Not down here, I'm fully Christian down here. But, uh, my great-grandmother had an affair with a Ashkenazi Jew and had my grandfather. So I'm not linked to the Fisher bloodline at all. My last name is Landorf, and I come from a very short, stocky Jewish heritage. So that, that just came out.

• 9:48Jordan B. Peterson?

  How'd you find that out?

• 9:49Speaker 05

  23andMe.

• 9:51Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, yeah, oh, yeah. Didn't they sell all their DNA samples to the Chinese?

• 9:55Speaker 05

  Oh, probably.

• 9:55Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, I think so, I think so. That means they can target viruses for all of us.

• 9:59Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 10:00Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 10:00Speaker 05

But that, that's, that's when people started saying I was conservative, because I didn't get the COVID shot, mostly because my pediatrician said I was too tiny.

• 10:11Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, right, right.

• 10:12Speaker 05

  Just listening to my doctor.

• 10:13Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 10:13Speaker 05

But that was the beginning for me.

• 10:15Jordan B. Peterson?

So why didn't you get the shot?

• 10:17Speaker 05

  Um, I had-

• 10:18Jordan B. Peterson?

Apart from being sane. I got the goddamn shot, that was stupid.

• 10:21Speaker 05

  Well-

• 10:21Jordan B. Peterson?

I was so sick, though, I couldn't think, so-

• 10:23Speaker 05

  You got what, one?

• 10:25Jordan B. Peterson?

  Two.

• 10:25Speaker 05

  Two?

• 10:26Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 10:27Speaker 05

Your body, your choice. I know people took it a task for that, but I, you know, that's, I don't care if anyone got it. It's the forced, it's the mandated thing.

• 10:37Jordan B. Peterson?

That's for sure. That was absolutely unconscionable. There's been some things happen in the last decade that are just beyond comprehension, and that is certainly one of them.

• 10:44Speaker 05

The cops are coming just from us talking.

• 10:46Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, right, right, right, right.

• 10:48Speaker 05

But that's when people started going, "Oh, you're, you're far right. You're a Trump supporter because you didn't get the COVID shot."

• 10:55Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, far right is pretty much anything that isn't communist, so.

• 10:59Speaker 05

  That's true.

• 10:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  That's especially true in Europe.

• 11:01Speaker 05

  Right?

• 11:01Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 11:02Speaker 05

But I, I thought, he, first of all, he made it, right? He, he's, his brilliance is pushing things through regulation. That's why he has buildings all over New York City. He, he can skip regulation. So, Trump got that shot made so much faster than it would've. You remember everyone said, even Trump said, "It'll take, you know, they said it'll take 10 years, Jordan, right? They said it'll take 20 years. I made it in two days, right? Two days. Warp speed, they say, warp speed." And I'm going, "If I loved Trump, I would, I would've, I would've done whatever he said." So that, so that on its head was just backwards. That was the first time I go, the politicization,

• 11:44Speaker 05

politicizations of this is, is completely, uh, there's no basis for it.

• 11:48Jordan B. Peterson?

  Profit.

• 11:49Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 11:50Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 11:50Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 11:52Jordan B. Peterson?

Welcome to parenting. There's a natural joy in raising a toddler that's unlike anything else in life. You have to admire a child's creativity in misbehaving. It's very important for children to understand what the rules are that guide a particular situation.

• 12:10Jordan B. Peterson?

Find what the reality of the social situation actually is. How many times a day do you think you're having a disciplinary struggle with your son? Children test their boundaries by pushing their limits by misbehaving. You have to be patient with that, but also firm.

• 12:27Speaker 06

We want to foster a spirit of cooperation within our family.

• 12:31Jordan B. Peterson?

Your interactions with your children shouldn't ever be about what other people think of you. You should be attending to the situation at hand and doing the right thing for your kid.

• 12:41Speaker 00

Your sausage McMuffin with egg didn't change, your receipt did. The sausage McMuffin with egg extra value meal includes a hash brown and a small coffee for just $5, only at McDonald's for a limited time.

• 12:53Speaker 01

Pricing participation may vary. Promotion pricing may be lower than meal pricing.

• 13:05Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, no, it's a hell of a situation to set up where the vaccine manufacturers have no liability and they can use force. Like, that's just an invitation to psychopaths, obviously, because you can make an infinite amount of money with no consequences. Like, there's a deal for you.

• 13:21Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 13:22Jordan B. Peterson?

So, yeah, it's pretty, it's pretty sad. So, we saw each other on Kill Tony. I didn't expect that, by the way.

• 13:28Speaker 05

I didn't either. I didn't know you were gonna be there.

• 13:30Jordan B. Peterson?

I would, neither did I. I showed up and Tony asked me to participate, which was very good of him, and I had quite a fine time. It was quite fun, but I really didn't know what the hell I was doing.

• 13:40Speaker 05

  Well, I didn't-

• 13:40Jordan B. Peterson?

But that's often the case, so-

• 13:41Speaker 05

  Had you seen it before?

• 13:43Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 13:43Speaker 05

  You had seen the show?

• 13:44Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 13:44Speaker 05

Okay, I hadn't really seen it before. Uh, so, so I just watched a clip or two.

• 13:49Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, I, I, well, I hadn't seen the whole show either. I'd just seen enough of it to kind of know what was going on.

• 13:54Speaker 05

  So, what did you-

• 13:55Jordan B. Peterson?

Took me a bit of time to put two and two together. Well, I've watched it. I was at Rogan's, uh, comedy mothership within the last month again. And, oh, yeah, because I was on Rogan, that was the reason. And, uh, Kill Tony was on that night. And what do I think of it? Well, Tony's a rough guy. He's got a saw-edged tongue.

• 14:17Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 14:18Jordan B. Peterson?

And he's kinda no-holds-barred. But he's a weird... It's a weird show because it's brutal and it's a great opportunity. And so, that's a weird juxtaposition because if people do well, they can have a career.

• 14:35Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 14:36Jordan B. Peterson?

And that's a big deal. And Tony's provided that. And I guess the price that people pay for having that opportunity is if they have to put up with the skewering. And maybe that's a fair deal. I mean, everybody's doing it. They're all adults and...

• 14:55Speaker 05

It's a... It is definitely a rocket ship version of success compared to when I started. There was no viral clips. You know, you had to spend 10 years in basements in New York City just getting brutalized. But imagine Kill Tony, but in a basement with, you know, six or seven comedians.

• 15:16Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 15:17Speaker 05

  No real audience.

• 15:18Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, so Kill Tony...

• 15:19Speaker 05

And we beat the shit out of each other.

• 15:19Jordan B. Peterson?

Right, so Kill Tony's probably no more brutal than it was before, and it's a lot faster.

• 15:24Speaker 05

It's just in front of the world, which is, to me, it's a... I feel fortunate that that didn't happen to me. I had about 15 years of really getting dirty before any...

• 15:34Jordan B. Peterson?

So, tell me, how did your career start? So, you said you were a terrible delinquent and you were drinking when you were 10. And did you become an alcoholic?

• 15:44Speaker 05

Yeah, I'd say so. I mean, I was addicted to it, but luckily, it didn't stick. I think finding, um, performing, it set me free.

• 15:56Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah. How come?

• 15:57Speaker 05

Well, I was failing out of high school, and I was friends with the acting teacher. And we would hang out.

• 16:04Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah.

• 16:04Speaker 05

And we would do drugs together.

• 16:07Jordan B. Peterson?

That's definitely hanging out with the acting teacher, yeah.

• 16:10Speaker 05

Public school. And I thought, well, if I take his class, I'll pass.

• 16:15Jordan B. Peterson?

  Uh-huh.

• 16:15Speaker 05

I needed the class. And so, I went and I got on stage and...

• 16:20Jordan B. Peterson?

So, you were friends with him before you took the class?

• 16:22Speaker 05

Yeah. I took it to guarantee an A to pass me.

• 16:25Jordan B. Peterson?

Okay, how did it happen that you befriended him or vice versa before you took the class?

• 16:30Speaker 05

Well, public school. Everyone... The teachers were sleeping with kids, and this was not uncommon.

• 16:37Speaker 05

  In public school.

• 16:38Jordan B. Peterson?

It was uncommon in the public school I went to.

• 16:41Speaker 05

Sure, sure. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, us privileged white kids were getting, you know, doing drugs with our teachers.

• 16:47Jordan B. Peterson?

  I see.

• 16:48Speaker 05

  Yeah, yeah.

• 16:49Jordan B. Peterson?

  This was in Rhode Island?

• 16:50Speaker 05

This was in Connecticut. This was right outside of New Haven. So, parents got divorced. When I was seven, my father came out of the closet. He came out as-

• 16:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh yeah, that's a shock.

• 17:00Speaker 05

Came out as racist. No, he came out as homophobic. No, he's gay, sorry. He came out as gay when I was seven. And, you know, so I also have a-

• 17:11Jordan B. Peterson?

Ah, so that's what precipitated the divorce?

• 17:14Speaker 05

Uh, no, he was just really messy. Yeah, it had something to do with it.

• 17:19Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yes, no doubt.

• 17:20Speaker 05

They tried two years to stick it out, and didn't stick.

• 17:24Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 17:24Speaker 05

And so, yeah, I was, I was, I was out of control. Absolutely out of control. And so suddenly, you know, suddenly, uh, your parents are fighting and using you as, as weapons.

• 17:37Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 17:37Speaker 05

I've forgiven them. I love my parents. Two brothers.

• 17:40Jordan B. Peterson?

  Older, younger?

• 17:41Speaker 05

Two older brothers. Yeah, we're all two years apart. Uh, one is also since come out of the closet.

• 17:49Speaker 05

I could come out any day now.

• 17:50Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, well, the shirt-

• 17:51Speaker 05

I'm getting, yeah, yeah. Well, I was raised by a gay father.

• 17:55Jordan B. Peterson?

I think Tony's so angry because everybody thinks he's gay.

• 17:58Speaker 05

  Well, fuck yeah.

• 17:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 18:00Speaker 05

Fucking amazing. That's, he's also so disarming because of his voice.

• 18:04Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 18:05Speaker 05

So he has that, that, that beautiful mixture of being absolutely brutal, but you're never gonna fucking, you know, this kind of soft voice. And, uh, so yeah, that, that, that's how I was raised. My mom was losing her mind and dating, you know, psychopaths. So that was one house. The other house was my dad, you know, finally exploring his, his new life, um, as a gay man in the 90s.

• 18:30Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh yeah, that's complicated.

• 18:32Speaker 05

Tail end of the AIDS epidemic. And so, so I got on stage.

• 18:37Jordan B. Peterson?

Okay, so it was on from that to the, to the art teacher?

• 18:40Speaker 05

Yeah, and getting on stage and it all just, people were laughing and I was doing impressions and voices, all of which I, me and my brothers, that was our coping mechanism as kids. So we would watch Saturday Night Live and we would watch comedy in South Park and, you know, that was, that was our healing process.

• 19:00Jordan B. Peterson?

So you had, you had competitive humor with your brothers?

• 19:04Speaker 05

Yes, and very extreme, very physical, very extreme types, a type of humor. So, so once that hit on stage, he said, "You have to do this for your living."

• 19:16Jordan B. Peterson?

Okay, so you, you took the acting course in high school?

• 19:20Speaker 05

  Yep.

• 19:20Jordan B. Peterson?

And then you went to Rhode Island?

• 19:21Speaker 05

  Went to Rhode Island.

• 19:22Jordan B. Peterson?

  How long were you there?

• 19:24Speaker 05

I was there for three years.

• 19:25Jordan B. Peterson?

  Was it, was it useful?

• 19:26Speaker 05

  It was very useful.

• 19:27Jordan B. Peterson?

Okay, tell me why, what'd you do?

• 19:29Speaker 05

I had some teachers, and again, this was before, you know, the political correctness stuff got out of control.

• 19:35Jordan B. Peterson?

  What year?

• 19:36Speaker 05

The wokeness. This was, uh, 2005.

• 19:39Jordan B. Peterson?

Right. I would have pegged you younger than 38, by the way.

• 19:42Speaker 05

  Oh, thank you.

• 19:43Jordan B. Peterson?

  So, yeah, I guess that's a compliment.

• 19:44Speaker 05

  Probably the plastic surgery.

• 19:45Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, could be, could be.

• 19:47Speaker 05

  Wearing my placenta.

• 19:47Jordan B. Peterson?

  It's your rosy complexion.

• 19:48Speaker 05

Placenta mask at night, you know. Uh, so, uh...

• 19:52Jordan B. Peterson?

That's too much information to that.

• 19:54Speaker 05

  Yeah. Yeah, Rhode Island.

• 19:57Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 19:58Speaker 05

Acting school. I, you couldn't, you can get messy. You can fuck up. You can be offensive. There, there was no offensive. It was, the first day of acting class, the entire class was crying because it got that messy. We were doing these exercises where you had to push somebody, you know? You might have a line that says like, "Get away", and then "Get away", then "Get away", and then you push them. We did exercises where you would be physically held to the ground and you had to use your monologue to get out of it. I had this teacher, she was twisted, but, but in the perfect way. And so, uh, what a gift, because I just made it.

• 20:41Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, the universities didn't really go sideways till about 2000 and started around 2010. And so you were in there when they still functioned.

• 20:51Speaker 05

Yep, yep. And there was no, no casting based on race or gender or any of that stuff. So I got, I got, uh,

• 20:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  Height?

• 21:00Speaker 05

No, no height. No height. Well, we'll get to that.

• 21:03Jordan B. Peterson?

Sorry, you made a bunch of jokes, so I had to.

• 21:05Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah. You have that height privilege. Yeah.

• 21:08Jordan B. Peterson?

I was, I was small. Well, everyone was small as a child, but I was like under five foot two, I think, when I graduated from high school. So that was rather annoying.

• 21:19Speaker 05

  Yeah, I bet.

• 21:20Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, I think when I first got my driver's license, I had to sit on like two phone books to see over the top of the dash.

• 21:26Speaker 05

  Oh, really?

• 21:26Jordan B. Peterson?

That was not very good for my, like, cool status among.

• 21:29Speaker 05

But it probably made you funny, because you are very funny.

• 21:32Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, I had to use my mouth, you know, to, to defend myself against the

• 21:39Jordan B. Peterson?

  the bullies.

• 21:39Speaker 05

  Sure. And then you grew.

• 21:41Jordan B. Peterson?

And my friends, like, the Northern Albertan culture was a comedic culture, like, Northern Albertans are very funny. Albertans in general. And I had a lot of friends who just, all we did was tell jokes to each other. All we did was try to, our competition was really for wit. That was it.

• 21:57Speaker 05

  The laughs, the biggest laugh.

• 21:58Jordan B. Peterson?

The biggest laugh won, yeah. And I had some great friends, guys I still know, who were, uh, yeah, they were extremely funny. So that was fun, really fun.

• 22:09Speaker 05

Yeah, you could have been a comedian. I mean, you, you, you're kind of lucky because you can get away with sneaking jokes in without the pressure of people expecting. Last night, I had the Beacon Theater in 2019. And I did the whole, I put this, got the suit, damn suit on.

• 22:25Jordan B. Peterson?

Good, good. Put the damn suit on.

• 22:26Speaker 05

You cost me a lot of money, all this. Got the suit on and yep, yep, I just found my ticket, actually.

• 22:33Jordan B. Peterson?

See, I can't tell a joke, like a prepared joke. And when I lecture, I don't ever use notes or anything like that. Like, it has to be spontaneous.

• 22:41Speaker 05

  Oh, we can tell.

• 22:42Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 22:42Speaker 05

No, it's great. I love that. I copied you.

• 22:45Jordan B. Peterson?

  It's improv.

• 22:45Speaker 05

I stopped using notes, setlists, all of that, based on your, um, hearing you say that.

• 22:51Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, you can take notes beforehand and you can, you know, sort your head out, but it's way better to.

• 22:57Speaker 05

Because then you have to find it.

• 22:59Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, and you can also pay attention to the audience, which makes a huge difference, right? Because you get that connection and you can, you can play off the understanding of the audience. And then they trust you because you're trusting them and it gets, the dynamic is much better. No one should lecture with notes and no one should ever read a lecture. Well, there is the odd person who can get away with it, but they have to be like professional actors to manage that.

• 23:23Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 23:24Jordan B. Peterson?

And maybe I could learn to tell jokes that were scripted, but generally something will pop into my head and I think, "I'm gonna say this. I don't give a damn."

• 23:31Speaker 05

Well, you have that long, drawn-out, you know, pause, because again, we're not, we're not expecting the laugh. And so, so I saw you milk things and maybe you didn't know the line was coming, but you got a couple huge pops in that theater.

• 23:46Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, it's fun.

• 23:47Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 23:47Jordan B. Peterson?

Mm-hmm. It's fun. It's great fun to manage that. Yeah, well, and the set is actually, the lecture has a comedic structure in a way, because the whole lecture, if it works right, has a punchline. You know, and that punchline isn't necessarily one that will elicit laughs, but, but that's also something that's extremely entertaining, is to try to juggle a number of balls and then land them. And that's, well, that's what you do if you land a joke, and that's great. And then the audience is very appreciative of that and, and the whole evening concludes in a satisfactory manner. You know, the weird thing is, the same thing often happens in a podcast.

• 24:30Jordan B. Peterson?

You know, I've noticed that if you pay enough attention, which you always should do, by the way, I figured out this week that everything is a burning bush if you pay enough attention to it. That's what that story in the Old Testament means, is that if you get to the bottom of something by paying attention to it, you see God. That's right. That's right. That's what happens with hallucinogens, is you, you, you get that experience. But if you pay enough attention to anything...

• 24:59Jordan B. Peterson?

It's capable of revealing everything. In any case, if you pay enough attention in a podcast, there'll be a natural narrative arc, and then there'll be a landing, you know, where the guest says something that really concludes things nicely and and all that, all that that depends on is paying enough attention to. So that's fun to, that's fun to track.

• 25:19Speaker 05

And it's, it's why you have to also get your, everything in your life straightened out the way you've, you've encouraged people to, because you can't, you, you can't have that type of focus if you have all of these other things.

• 25:35Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, that's right.

• 25:36Speaker 05

So it's, it's, it's worth nearly killing yourself to do, which,

• 25:41Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 25:41Speaker 05

you know, and that, that's when I just-

• 25:42Jordan B. Peterson?

So how'd you figure that out?

• 25:44Speaker 05

Well, started watching your damn lectures.

• 25:47Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah? And did you took, you took them with some degree of seriousness?

• 25:50Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah.

• 25:51Jordan B. Peterson?

  So what changed?

• 25:52Speaker 05

That was about eight years ago.

• 25:53Jordan B. Peterson?

  Well, what changed?

• 25:54Speaker 05

Well, you know, everyone has their own personal things in life. I had my traumas as a kid and, uh, you know, I'm lucky, I, I do love my family, but for Christ's sake, everybody is, is, has gone through hell in some way or another. And going through what I did as a kid, you know, I, I didn't even know what being gay was. And so having a gay father and a mother with some proclivity, I'd say, or some predisposed mental illness, probably, seeing her crumble, you know? And then I started taking care of her. And then never talking to anyone about that. That's a, that's a lot for a child.

• 26:38Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah.

• 26:39Speaker 05

And every child has gone through that. Um, and so then I had no, I had no life skills. Cause, cause we, we never told each other the truth growing up, which is brutal.

• 26:51Jordan B. Peterson?

  That's not good.

• 26:52Speaker 05

And when I did, my mom would cry and my dad would yell. So I learned how to just, just make jokes and make everybody happy, which was killing me. And I did that until I was 30. And when I was about 30, my mother, uh, tried to kill herself. And I found her. So that was the, that was sort of the, the seed of waking me up in, in, in ever, you know, in a never-ending list of ways. But it was, it was, I think you've talked about this, right? You, you, if you're kind of in the middle, you're not going to change anything.

• 27:33Speaker 05

You know, you have to hit a certain rock bottom for something to wake you up. Because you see people just coasting.

• 27:40Jordan B. Peterson?

And that's kind of the opposite of the burning bush. That, that, that hitting rock bottom.

• 27:46Speaker 05

  The wet bush.

• 27:46Jordan B. Peterson?

Means you get, yeah, yeah, yeah. The wet stick. That means that you get to the bottom of something. And sometimes it's hell, right?

• 27:54Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 27:55Jordan B. Peterson?

Right, right. Often, often it's hell.

• 27:58Speaker 05

It kind of has to be.

• 27:59Jordan B. Peterson?

Hello, everybody. I want to bring to your attention a product, an online product that I've been working on with my son, essay.app. We designed Essay to solve the problem of teaching people how to write. That's a very deep problem because it's hard to learn how to write. You need to learn how to write because there isn't any real difference between writing and thinking. And thinking is useful if you want to stay out of pits and move forward effectively. Learn to write, learn to think, learn to move forward productively in life. What does Essay do?

• 28:37Jordan B. Peterson?

It's a word processing platform that helps you identify your ideas, lay out the revelations that are associated with the questions that come to hand, and learn to edit at every level of analysis. Edit at the word level, edit at the phrase level, edit at the sentence level, the paragraph level. That combination allows you to explore the questions you're most interested in a productive and creative manner, and then to tighten out your communication so that you can be concise, precise, and convincing. Why would you want to do that? Well, because every single thing that you do in your entire life, the success of every

• 29:20Jordan B. Peterson?

single thing you do in your entire life is going to be dependent to a large degree on your ability to formulate your ideas and communicate them. Essay.app, that will teach you to write and think. Give it a try. I think that if you practiced aiming up with enough religious devotion, so to speak, and you paid enough attention, that's in the in the Gospels, Christ teaches people how to pray. And the that's on the Sermon on the Mount, which is the longest continuous utterances we have from him in principle. But it's an actually, it's an instruction manual. And the instruction is, it's brilliant, especially in the context of the Old Testament.

• 30:04Jordan B. Peterson?

There's an idea in the Old Testament that you consecrate the firstborn to God. And what that means psychologically is that when you embark on a new endeavor, even a new episode in a day, like every anytime that the set shifts, that's a good way of thinking about it. You need to remember what you're doing and why. And then you might think, well, okay, let's say that we're setting the frame for this conversation. Okay, so why don't we think, why don't we try to make this the deepest conversation we could manage?

• 30:38Speaker 05

I'm trying, I'm trying not to be funny, by the way. I'm really holding back.

• 30:42Jordan B. Peterson?

I hope you can be funny. You you don't hold back.

• 30:44Speaker 05

I will, but just for the sake of it, you know. I'm not gonna Russell brand you. You know, I was, by the way, I just wanted to say I was watching in DC. We did the event together. And and I don't feel bad about impersonating you anymore. Because you and Russell had had this this little talk with a group. And yeah, and he he hit you after every line he impersonated you.

• 31:04Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 31:05Speaker 05

And I said, I feel I'm off the hook now.

• 31:08Jordan B. Peterson?

He's quite the competitive conversationalist, Mr. Brad.

• 31:10Speaker 05

Yeah, and he's got a funny way of talking, too. I know he, you know, he did you the whole, you know, every time.

• 31:15Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 31:15Speaker 05

But he he'll just throw a string of words and you go, I don't know what the hell he said, but it sounds good because of that British accent.

• 31:21Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, he's got that going for him.

• 31:23Speaker 05

Manipulation of the condensation, of the reticulation, of the masturbation, of the masturbation. You know, and that's what I think about oat milk. You go, what the hell did you just?

• 31:33Jordan B. Peterson?

He can do that in real time.

• 31:35Speaker 05

  It's incredible.

• 31:35Jordan B. Peterson?

  It's quite impressive, yes.

• 31:36Speaker 05

But anyways, I feel good because I I feel off the hook after the way he really got you.

• 31:43Jordan B. Peterson?

Don't hold yourself back. So I'll finish this story and we'll return to we'll return to your narrative. So. The idea is that before you undertake something, you remember, if you're wise, that you might as well do it in the best possible way. So that needs to be the aim. The aim would be to do it in the best possible way. So that's to aim up. That's in the religious language. That's to put the Father before all else, right? Heaven, the Kingdom of Heaven. So to try to make this, the outcome, perfect. So then you have to figure out, well, why the hell are you doing this? And maybe it's because you're aiming down or you're causing trouble. Well, you know, you'll get it. If that's what you're aiming at, you'll get it.

• 32:25Jordan B. Peterson?

Once you've established your aim, then pay attention. So that's why Christ says to consider the lilies of the valley, that they don't toil or spin, and that God's clothed them in glory. The idea is that, once you set your aim high, all you have to do is pay attention. And that's actually correct. That's actually how perception works. Because perception guides you to an aim. So, so what does that mean? Well, what's a prayer for? Prayer is to set your aim, not to wish for things. To set your aim. And so, that's an unbelievably useful thing to know, if you can practice it. And why wouldn't you practice it? If, if the consequence is that when you set your aim,

• 33:08Jordan B. Peterson?

you can see the pathway forward, which is the truth, then... Okay, so you were, you found your mother.

• 33:15Speaker 05

By the way, I was gonna say, everything you just said, word for word.

• 33:19Jordan B. Peterson?

You were gonna say that? And I scooped you?

• 33:21Speaker 05

Yeah, literally, the whole thing. But I'm gonna let you have that.

• 33:24Jordan B. Peterson?

You did allude to it, though, because you, you talked about something that happened to you when, when you found your mother. Okay, so what happened?

• 33:31Speaker 05

Well, what happened in that moment was, "Oh, I can't, I can't save anybody." That, that was it for me. My, my childhood was trying to, to, to please everybody and save everybody, because it was such chaos in my house. So I used love and compassion and jokes and, and, you know, putting on show, you know, I would put on these shows. It was just, you know, "My mom will die if I don't make her laugh." And, uh, who was it? Eugene? We put Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Who is that that played, uh?

• 34:09Jordan B. Peterson?

  Gina Hayman?

• 34:11Speaker 05

No, curly hair. How do I not remember?

• 34:14Jordan B. Peterson?

  Wilder.

• 34:14Speaker 05

Wilder. So we had a similar experience. His mom was sick. I think she had cancer and the doctor said, "If you don't make your mom, if she cries, she's gonna die."

• 34:24Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, that's a good thing, too.

• 34:26Speaker 05

And so my mom told me the same thing. She said, "I'm gonna die." And here's the lockbox, and here's where all this stuff is. She just sat me and my brothers and I said, "I'm dying." She didn't say why or how, you know? I said, "Was it a joke? Am I bombing over here?" And so that was it. It was, "If she's not laughing, she's going to die." So that's how serious it was for me, with humor and entertainment. And so when I saw her trying to take her life, she had walked into a lake and there was pills lined up on the edge of the lake. I mean, that's burned into my head, that image. And I went and pulled her out, and I guessed where she was. I didn't even know she was there.

• 35:12Speaker 05

I was literally at a fork in the road in my car, and her husband called and said, uh, "She took the car," and, you know, the hospital said, "She can't drive." We knew she was suicidal at the time. And I just picked a place and went there and pulled her out. And I looked at her and I realized, "Oh, I can't save anybody." So from that, from her nearly dying, and she's, you know, psychologically gone at this point, she's still alive, but, um, that set me free to-

• 35:45Jordan B. Peterson?

  What was the realization?

• 35:47Speaker 05

  That I can't, I'm not gonna save anybody. I can, I can-

• 35:52Jordan B. Peterson?

Why? And how was it that you realized that?

• 35:54Speaker 05

  Because she tried to, yeah.

• 35:55Jordan B. Peterson?

  Because it failed you?

• 35:56Speaker 05

  Oh, this isn't about me.

• 35:57Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 35:58Speaker 05

This is something, I can't even-

• 36:00Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, everybody has their own destiny.

• 36:02Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 36:02Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 36:03Speaker 05

So that was the moment when I probably started saying what I actually thought. And, uh, right after-

• 36:10Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, I see.

• 36:10Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah, right after that, um, you know, and this is gonna connect back to the whole, "Are you a conservative comedian?" Well, then-

• 36:19Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, if you tell the truth, then you're probably a conservative comedian.

• 36:23Speaker 05

  Yeah, that's true.

• 36:24Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 36:24Speaker 05

Yeah, and they're getting funny, too.

• 36:26Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, I know. What the hell?

• 36:27Speaker 05

  It's really switch.

• 36:28Jordan B. Peterson?

  Rush Limbaugh.

• 36:30Speaker 05

  Rush Limbaugh.

• 36:31Jordan B. Peterson?

He was the fir- I heard him as a Canadian. I went down to LA, or I don't know, 40 years ago, a long time ago. And I heard Rush Limbaugh, and he was like, he was like Trump in a way, you know? He was so nefarious. And I heard him and I thought, this guy's a comedian. Like, people were taking him seriously, but mostly, I thought he was hilarious. He was just hilarious.

• 36:51Speaker 05

Well, if the new marker is that you are gonna say what you want while risking offending people, that's, that is comedy.

• 36:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, right.

• 37:00Speaker 05

So, if people wanna say that's a conservative, at this point, I throw my hands up.

• 37:04Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. Exactly. And you can see that at the comedy mothership, too.

• 37:09Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 37:10Jordan B. Peterson?

Right? Because I would say the comedy that I heard there would generally be branded conservative, but that's, that's a very strange thing, because first of all, conservative comedy, that's a very weird thing, but also, it's just that so many things are forbidden now, and mostly forbidden by the left.

• 37:31Speaker 05

They're not actually forbidden, though. I tell comedians that. I go, don't, don't, don't say, "You can't say this anymore." I say, "Just fucking do it."

• 37:39Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 37:39Speaker 05

You're gonna pay the price. I'm in trouble all the time, all the time. But that's just part of it now.

• 37:46Jordan B. Peterson?

  Is that a good thing?

• 37:47Speaker 05

Depends how you can handle it, I think.

• 37:51Jordan B. Peterson?

Let's take that apart a little bit, because it's a good thing and a bad thing. It's very stressful, but it's also full of opportunity, right? I mean, when, when things are left on the table, you can take them. You might have to pay the price for taking them, but you can take them. And so, in the comedy world, it seems that the people who are willing to take the risks are likely to be the ones that were successful. Now, when you had decided...

• 38:18Jordan B. Peterson?

To start saying what you really believed. So that's, the Jungians would call that the, that's the encounter with, that's the what, realization of the persona. You know, in the Pinocchio movie, Pinocchio's a puppet. Other things are pulling his strings, right? And he comes to the truth, partly because he realizes he's lying. And that's when he starts to become real, right? That's a standard psychological transformation. And so that occurred when you just, when you realized that the act that you were putting on wasn't going to do the trick fundamentally. Is that fair?

• 38:52Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 38:53Jordan B. Peterson?

  Okay.

• 38:53Speaker 05

Mom's gonna die, friends are gonna leave. I was dating a girl at the time who, who got back with her ex-boyfriend. And so I was, I was flattened out. I mean, I was, I barely made it through that. But that's when I started seeing your videos. And it was mind blowing, you know? I would see you say something and it would just be explosive. And then I, I was got into therapy. So that forced me into therapy. And it was a shitty therapist. She was a, a, a social worker.

• 39:23Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh yeah, that's dangerous. Oh, yeah.

• 39:28Speaker 05

Yep, yep. However, and she was, she saw everything through the, through the lens of patriarchy and, you know, I remember I said, my girlfriend cheated on me. She said, well, did she really cheat on, I mean, she really, you know, so that, that was, uh, but it, but it got me there. It got me into therapy.

• 39:44Jordan B. Peterson?

  And what, that was helpful?

• 39:46Speaker 05

It, it was helpful to just be there and start vomiting stuff out.

• 39:48Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, right, right.

• 39:49Speaker 05

You know, you gotta do it. It's gonna come out.

• 39:51Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 39:52Speaker 05

And then she said, I think you should go to 12-step meetings. Because I was with this girl who was cheating on me and I couldn't get away from her. And so I started going to all sorts of 12-step meetings. There was no specific thing. Some people said it was, she said it might be love addiction or, you know, I went to the children of alcoholics meetings. And I went there and I just listened. And I did this for two years.

• 40:17Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh yeah.

• 40:17Speaker 05

I locked myself in base because there was no other way out. I had to go into the fire. It was, it was.

• 40:25Jordan B. Peterson?

So what did you find compelling about these meetings?

• 40:29Speaker 05

If you go to those meetings, and I recommend it for anyone that has any addiction, and that could be a, you know, a slew of things, you go and you listen to people, and you're gonna, you're just, bombs are gonna go off, cuz you're gonna go, "Holy shit, that's what I thought, that's what I felt," and I started putting the pieces together.

• 40:50Jordan B. Peterson?

Right, so you were seeing yourself reflected in these other people?

• 40:52Speaker 05

Yes, every meeting, and, you know, everyone's sitting there sobbing, and at their absolute lowest, and this guy just lost his kids for having an affair, and this, you know,

• 41:03Speaker 05

you know, there was some for people that were grieving from deaths, so that helped with my mom's suicidal, you know, fits, but I slowly started, you know, listening and just putting my story together.

• 41:19Jordan B. Peterson?

  Apparently, I'm coming unbuttoned here.

• 41:20Speaker 05

Well, I have that effect on people, you know? You can't touch anyone anymore, you know, cuz it's not consensual.

• 41:27Jordan B. Peterson?

Right, right, so you just do it by, what, telepathy?

• 41:31Speaker 05

Yes, you hold the door for a woman, she blows a rape whistle at this point, so, so yeah, I started piecing it together through the 12-step meetings, and learning from your lectures, you know, the, I can't avoid talking about this whole, the whole pinning of white privilege, and, and, um, that really fucked me up.

• 41:57Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, I had a friend who really, at least his life-

• 42:01Speaker 05

  Took his life?

• 42:01Jordan B. Peterson?

-committed suicide because of his excess guilt, yeah.

• 42:04Speaker 05

  I can absolutely understand it.

• 42:05Jordan B. Peterson?

There were other things going on, but that was a major, that was a major player. He'd swallowed the whole patriarchy, oppressive patriarchy, victim-victimizer narrative, regarded himself as a victimizer, regarded masculinity in its essence as corrupt, and, and he decided to take a kind of nihilistic Buddhist approach to it and not do anything, which had the additional advantage of irresponsibility, but just killed him. He was smart, too, and talented.

• 42:31Speaker 05

And it's gonna kill a lot of young boys.

• 42:34Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, I've seen plenty of that, man.

• 42:38Speaker 05

It has to be dealt with.

• 42:39Jordan B. Peterson?

So how did it affect you?

• 42:41Speaker 05

Well, in the entertainment business, that, you know, coming off the universities going woke in 2010. Okay, then it was, "White people are evil and oppressive. They take everything." "Okay, so we should give the roles to these people based on their skin color and their gender." Well, that spread from, and I was, I was an actor too. I was doing TV and film and commercials and, you know, I do a million voices. And then suddenly you'd hear the, your agent or manager say, "They're not really looking for white people." And you'd say, "Well, is the, does the role, "Is it determined by skin color?" "No." And then you'd look at the casting breakdown, which meant, "Prefer non-white." "But you can still, if you want, oh," and then you'd feel like a piece of shit going,

• 43:26Speaker 05

"Oh, I'm, am I stealing this from somebody?" And that, that just ramped up. And then comedy clubs, you'd start to hear, "We have too many white guys." And it, and, and well, now all these white men are getting together secretly, kind of, you know, "Is this happening to you? Yeah, but we should just be quiet." And I suddenly said, "No, that, you can't, you can't stay quiet about this." I was taught as a kid, and it was pounded into my brain, "You don't judge people on race or gender. You judge them on skill." You know, that old racist, what's his name? Martin Luther King?

• 44:01Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 44:01Speaker 05

That guy. Uh, that's what I grew up on.

• 44:04Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, you can bloody well be sure that the people who have absolutely no merit are gonna find some other way to categorize human beings.

• 44:11Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 44:11Jordan B. Peterson?

And that's at the bottom of all of this. It's like, it is an absolute 100% war on merit by the psychopaths.

• 44:18Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 44:18Jordan B. Peterson?

And they found a guilt lever that's so effective, so effective. Yeah, it's appalling. It's appalling.

• 44:25Speaker 05

They started to say it out loud. I mean, every year, I'd be at a comedy club, you know, and some agent would come and say, "I'm from this, this," the biggest agents. I was flown out. I met with Jim Carrey's manager. I worked with them. And then they slowly started saying, "It's not a good time for white guys." "We're being told, we, you could only submit so many, you know, and you just got here." So, I mean, I had an email that literally said, "Sorry, it's too tough for white guys." And they fired me the next day.

• 44:58Speaker 05

And then I had another manager scout me and say, uh, you know, we've been watching you for years, you know, we see your impressions, your videos, my, my, my stuff was going viral online. And he said, you're a perfect fit. And we got on the phone a few months later and he, he said, it is our company policy. This was like second BLM wave.

• 45:18Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 45:19Speaker 05

Uh, to not take on any more white men. And so I-

• 45:23Jordan B. Peterson?

George Floyd caused even more trouble after he died than when he was alive. Sure.

• 45:27Speaker 05

  Yep.

• 45:27Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, very impressive.

• 45:28Speaker 05

  Well, that conversation-

• 45:30Jordan B. Peterson?

  World went insane.

• 45:30Speaker 05

  I recorded.

• 45:31Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 45:32Speaker 05

So that one I got on tape. And, uh, I'm now in a three-year, it's three-year-plus lawsuit with, uh, it's called AGI Entertainment is the name of the management company.

• 45:44Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah.

• 45:45Speaker 05

  And-

• 45:46Jordan B. Peterson?

That doesn't sound like much fun. Lawsuits are not much fun.

• 45:48Speaker 05

Yeah. And I just said, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not sacrificing this thing that, that not only I love and I'm, I'm very good at, but also save my life. And I think how many young boys are gonna go through that and not even have the chance of me getting messy in acting school and fucking up and bombing on stage and saying the wrong thing until it's right, you know? It just kills me. And so I said, I'm gonna fight it. And I got-

• 46:17Jordan B. Peterson?

  How's that going?

• 46:18Speaker 05

Well, it's going to go well because it's on tape.

• 46:21Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 46:22Speaker 05

There's nothing to hide from. I mean, it's gonna get messy and I think they're gonna probably try to slander me in any way they can. And so, yeah, I've had my fair share of paranoia over the last few years, wondering what are they tracking and what are they gonna try to expose and, you know, all that bullshit. But, but it's a hill I'm gonna die on. And so, um, we're, we're in the discovery phase and then the deposition and, and I, I'm not gonna budge. But I got, I got eaten alive by a lot of comedians for this. Again, it was convenient to spin that and go, oh, he's racist.

• 47:00Jordan B. Peterson?

  Uh huh.

• 47:00Speaker 05

  He hates black people.

• 47:01Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, right, right.

• 47:01Speaker 05

  He's fighting this thing.

• 47:02Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 47:03Speaker 05

Oh, just sit down and shut up.

• 47:05Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 47:05Speaker 05

And so I learned from your, Bill C-16, was it?

• 47:09Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 47:09Speaker 05

Yep. So, so again, that, that, I watched you go through that and just, just hearing you say, no, I'm not budging. Period. And that was my decision.

• 47:21Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, you're gonna break one way or another.

• 47:23Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 47:23Jordan B. Peterson?

You can maybe choose what you're going to break over. That's your choice.

• 47:28Speaker 05

Yeah. And so I decided I'm gonna have my cake and I'm gonna eat it too.

• 47:32Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 47:33Speaker 05

I lost my Hollywood career, you know. It's tough being at comedy clubs now because there's still, you know, I still, there's quite a bit of, of tension from me putting my foot down with COVID, fighting the mandates, you know, couldn't perform at the comedy clubs.

• 47:49Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 47:49Speaker 05

So me putting my hand up, that was, that was shocking for a lot of people.

• 47:54Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 47:55Speaker 05

But I go out and I, I tour and I do my, my, put my videos online.

• 48:00Jordan B. Peterson?

Good, let's talk about your career. Okay, so now, you, you mentioned that you started changing the way that you were approaching things when you realized that you couldn't interfere with your mother's destiny, so to speak, that you couldn't save her, you couldn't save her with your act, let's say. But you didn't stop acting, you didn't stop comedy. You said you started telling the truths more, you started really saying what you, what you had to say. What did that do to your career?

• 48:26Speaker 00

Your sausage McMuffin with egg didn't change, your receipt did. The sausage McMuffin with egg extra value meal includes a hash brown and a small coffee for just $5. Only at McDonald's for a limited time.

• 48:38Speaker 01

Price and participation may vary. Promotion pricing may be lower than meal pricing.

• 48:43Speaker 05

Well, when I made the decision, I'm going to say what I want, when I want, not without consequence, you know.

• 48:51Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 48:52Speaker 05

There's this, this area of, oh, these unfiltered comedians are just going and, you know, making millions of dollars and, and surrounded by strippers and stuff. No, you still, you know, if it doesn't work, the crowd isn't gonna reward it.

• 49:06Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 49:06Speaker 05

Even if you're a conservative comedian with a conservative crowd, you don't get rewarded. But it's a freedom that is imperative for an artist. You know, you can't, you can't say to a painter, you can't use blue. There's, there's no difference than that. Getting every painter going, you can't use the color blue anymore. It's offensive. And they would go, well, no, I have to. So you just make the decision, I'm gonna use blue, I'm gonna say what I want, I'm gonna make the jokes I want. At, you know, I mean, I'm, I'm banned.

• 49:36Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, that's really working at the comedy mothership. I mean, the comedians there, they pretty much say what they want.

• 49:42Speaker 05

Yeah, sure. And, and, and I've bombed there plenty and everyone, I've seen everyone bomb, every, but.

• 49:50Speaker 05

But you can go home at night and go, I took the risk. So for me, it was, well, I was, I did impressions. So I thought, why not, why not do an impression of Dr. Fauci? And nobody was doing it.

• 50:01Jordan B. Peterson?

  Uh huh.

• 50:02Speaker 05

  And I did that.

• 50:03Jordan B. Peterson?

  Let's see that.

• 50:05Speaker 05

You know, you know, really, Jordan, you really got to, there's 50 shots, you know? The first shot really is just to loosen up the vein and get it ready for the second, third, and fourth dose. The fifth, sixth, and seventh are to create a vaccine community in the body so that the eighth, ninth, and 10th feel seen and heard. Nine, 10, and 11 are placebos, getting us to 12. Since 13 is an unlucky number, we go right to 14 through 59. Once we dig up the deceased, revaccinate them so that the worms don't spread COVID through the groundwater, spreading it to the seagulls, taking it over to Cuba. Then we take little, teeny tiny needles and individually vaccinate each sperm, one at a time, so that the babies actually come out pre-protected.

• 50:50Speaker 05

Then we can reopen around 2065. That's one thing I did online. And I got banned on TikTok for that. So I've been completely frozen and banned.

• 51:01Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, so that's permanent?

• 51:03Speaker 05

Yeah, they froze me. Yeah, I was growing.

• 51:05Jordan B. Peterson?

  Jesus.

• 51:05Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah, so, so again, uh, but it lit a fire under my ass. It's like, all right, here we go, gloves are off.

• 51:12Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 51:12Speaker 05

Well, I'm banned on that thing, which it's absurd. We have a communist Chinese app dictating our culture. It's, it must be the stupidest thing this country's ever done, you know?

• 51:22Jordan B. Peterson?

  That's a hard.

• 51:23Speaker 05

Aside from some horrible things we've done. But, but, uh, so then it just would strengthen me and go, well, now I have nothing to lose. I was banned on Twitter until Elon came, and then I was unlocked. So, um, it's just more fun as an artist. And, uh.

• 51:42Jordan B. Peterson?

  Now, you're touring now where?

• 51:44Speaker 05

The entire country. Every weekend I do a different city.

• 51:48Jordan B. Peterson?

So what have you, how many cities is that over the, and for what span of time? Or is this permanent at the moment?

• 51:54Speaker 05

Well, when I couldn't do the comedy clubs during COVID, I would just go to Florida and do a, you know, a veterans hall or a backyard. I started growing my fan base from people that weren't allowed in restaurants. I would go to apartments in the Upper East Side for a Jewish birthday party. And that's, I did that for a year, for really no money. But I started growing my fan base and I would, I went to every state. And then I went back and I would do one night.

• 52:26Jordan B. Peterson?

  How did you arrange that?

• 52:29Speaker 05

  I had a-

• 52:30Jordan B. Peterson?

Was it word of mouth that, like, how did you get the opportunities? The micro opportunities to begin with?

• 52:35Speaker 05

I had one guy, he said, I booked breweries. Do you want to do some of those? Then we did those and we did veterans halls. And I hired a friend to be my manager. This guy named John Fattigate, who was not a manager, but because I was canceled for being white. And he, he goes, he believed in me so much. He pretty much gave up his career at the time. And we just worked 24/7, seven days a week, making videos, making sketches. You know, did that woke Jordan Peterson video and he produced that. And we just did it very grassroots until I was selling so many tickets that somebody said, "Fuck it, I'll work."

• 53:16Jordan B. Peterson?

  Thank God for greed.

• 53:17Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 53:17Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, it's a reliable vice, greed. Yeah, like if someone's motivated by money, you can understand them.

• 53:23Speaker 05

  Yep.

• 53:24Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah. If they're motivated by ideology, it's like all bets are off, man. You have no idea what's going on in their head.

• 53:30Speaker 05

  Money's important.

• 53:31Jordan B. Peterson?

You can, you can deal with that.

• 53:33Speaker 05

I'm starting to see the value in it. You know, I don't need a lot, but, but you need a certain amount. And so broke into the comedy clubs and now I'm, now they're asking me to come do full weekends. So I do four or five shows in a city. And it's incredible. And they're the best fans that you can dream of.

• 53:50Jordan B. Peterson?

  Okay, tell me about that.

• 53:51Speaker 05

Well, because they know I'm going to say whatever I want. So they're primed for that.

• 53:56Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, so they're your audience.

• 53:57Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 53:58Jordan B. Peterson?

  They know who you are.

• 53:59Speaker 05

There's usually five people that haven't seen me and they, at some point, will get up and start screaming at me.

• 54:07Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah.

• 54:07Speaker 05

Which I have fun with. It just happened in Toronto.

• 54:10Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah. Oh, really? In Toronto?

• 54:12Speaker 05

Fifteen seconds. Fifteen seconds, it was the record.

• 54:15Jordan B. Peterson?

  Fifteen seconds?

• 54:16Speaker 05

And I went back and forth with her for a few minutes.

• 54:18Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, her.

• 54:19Speaker 05

With her, yeah, yep. And then they dragged her out. Yeah, but...

• 54:23Jordan B. Peterson?

So why was she at a comedy club? Just to be offended? Is that the plan?

• 54:28Speaker 05

  Probably.

• 54:29Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, well...

• 54:29Speaker 05

That's a big business these days.

• 54:30Jordan B. Peterson?

It is, to be offended and then morally outraged. What a deal for everyone.

• 54:35Speaker 05

She got her moment. I filmed it. I'll put it online and, you know, get some more fans from it.

• 54:40Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 54:41Speaker 05

But they're very fun shows and I don't have an opener. I do ninety minutes, eighty to ninety minutes.

• 54:45Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, yeah, well, I'm gonna come and see you. Now, it's Sunday, right? I think I'm gonna come Sunday or Friday. I have to figure that out yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

• 54:53Speaker 05

You better write a couple of minutes.

• 54:54Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So are you... Where would you put yourself in the arc of your career? Like you said that you were doing reasonably well in Hollywood at one point.

• 55:04Speaker 05

Yeah, I was growing. A co-star, then guest star, where you'd have your own story. And I was being brought in for series regulars against, you know, some big names.

• 55:15Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 55:15Speaker 05

  And that's when it all...

• 55:17Jordan B. Peterson?

  And that was when?

• 55:19Speaker 05

That was probably about eight years ago.

• 55:21Jordan B. Peterson?

  Uh-huh.

• 55:22Speaker 05

And then the COVID thing, then I...

• 55:24Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 55:25Speaker 05

  You know, but I did...

• 55:26Jordan B. Peterson?

  Death for performers.

• 55:27Speaker 05

Daily Wire brought me in and I did Terror on the Prairie with Gina Carano. And that was wild and that was non-union, so we... There was no COVID rule. And then Lady Ballers, which we were both in.

• 55:39Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah, right.

• 55:40Speaker 05

And then Mr. Bircham, the animated series.

• 55:42Jordan B. Peterson?

That wasn't on my bucket list, being Lady Ballers for the Daily Wire. Like, I would never have presumed that that was going to happen.

• 55:50Speaker 05

You or, what's her name, the swimmer who...

• 55:54Jordan B. Peterson?

  Riley.

• 55:55Speaker 05

Riley was in it as well.

• 55:56Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, right, right. I don't imagine that was in her bucket list either.

• 56:00Speaker 05

But that's a great way to fight this, by bringing her into a film about men playing in women's sports. I thought that was brilliant.

• 56:06Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah. Well, maybe that's starting to come to an end, eh? The UK decided that men and women actually exist, and the Supreme Court ruled on that, so that was a big deal. And you Americans seem to be a little more sane about that. Canada, of course, no, but, you know, we like to lag in our progressive manner, and especially economically. So, you know that the typical Canadian now makes 60% of the typical American.

• 56:33Speaker 05

  Really?

• 56:34Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yes.

• 56:35Speaker 05

What about the female Canadian? Would you cut that in half?

• 56:38Jordan B. Peterson?

No, well, 70%. I think they only make 70 cents on the dollars. Because it's all they're worth, as we all know.

• 56:43Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 56:44Jordan B. Peterson?

So, yeah, yeah, obviously, it's because the statistics are calculated by dim-witted, envious feminists who have nothing better to do than whine and bitch.

• 56:53Speaker 05

I've dated plenty of them. I'm actually current, I was on a show called Gutfeld on Fox News.

• 56:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 57:00Speaker 05

I'm off the show because a, somebody, I asked a woman out for coffee, and I assume manager, onlooker, called it harassment, called security.

• 57:13Jordan B. Peterson?

  Really?

• 57:14Speaker 05

And had me escorted out. And so, that's a new thing I'm working out. That was my first Me Too, which I'd call the most trivial Me Too in the history of the Me Too movement. This was a woman who consensually agreed to get coffee. We exchanged information. And somebody was so disgusted by that, that they called it harassment.

• 57:36Jordan B. Peterson?

Wasn't someone after the same woman by any chance, was it?

• 57:39Speaker 05

Well, it might have been. It's, it's...

• 57:41Jordan B. Peterson?

  That'd be my guess.

• 57:42Speaker 05

They won't even have a conversation. Nobody at Fox, nothing. I'm just, I'm just gone. And I put it out publicly, I put this out. I waited for two months.

• 57:51Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 57:51Speaker 05

  But again...

• 57:52Jordan B. Peterson?

  That's probably wise.

• 57:53Speaker 05

I waited two months, but I just said, "I'm not gonna let this happen." And it's tragic that young men are disappearing in the dating scene.

• 58:04Speaker 05

It's not good. Dating apps are not good.

• 58:07Jordan B. Peterson?

Yes, well, I figured out something horrible. Do you want to know what it is? Do you know how you define consent? Marriage. Yeah.

• 58:16Speaker 05

  That's good.

• 58:16Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, look, I've really, I've really tried to think it through, you know, because there are so many.

• 58:23Jordan B. Peterson?

There's too many variables every other way. So like one of the things, I saw this starting to happen on university campuses when they put all these rules in about what constituted consent. Now, the thing they really always avoided was alcohol. Because there's, there's no date rape without alcohol. Like alcohol is at the bottom of almost all normative sexual misbehavior. So if the universities were the least bit serious about the things they claim to be serious about, for example, they'd focus on alcohol.

• 58:51Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 58:51Jordan B. Peterson?

  But there is a conundrum.

• 58:53Speaker 05

You're signing your will away when you drink. I remember dating girls going, no, if you are out drinking, it's, it's off the table. You've signed your, your, your will away.

• 59:01Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, and the strange thing about it is that there's some truth in that, right? Because alcohol does make people well, unconscious if you drink enough of it. That's happens to be a problem. And then before unconscious, there's not knowing what the hell's going on or caring. And then there's the next day regret. And part of the next day regret is, well, did I really give consent? And then you can't remember. Like we showed, I did a lot of research on alcohol. We showed that if people drank enough to get their blood alcohol level up to legal intoxication. So that was point 08. They showed about a 75% decrement in memory after three minutes. Like you could tell them something, ask them three minutes later, the people who were, and that's not very drunk.

• 59:43Speaker 05

That's called the Joe Biden effect.

• 59:44Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, right, right, right. So, so, you know, under what circumstances do you actually have consent, like real consent? Well, I guess it depends on how seriously you take sex. If you think that it's a game, then there's no issue. But the problem with that theory is it's not a game. So you're liable to get hooked in a vicious manner. And I don't see any solution to that except for the traditional solutions. And the, the kind of stories you're telling, the fact that, you know, the workplaces have become these toxic, toxic pits of surveillance.

• 1:00:25Jordan B. Peterson?

I mean, where the hell are people supposed to meet each other if it's not at work?

• 1:00:28Speaker 05

It was, it used to be about eighty percent or something, something like that.

• 1:00:31Jordan B. Peterson?

What, you're, you're only gonna meet the people that you meet.

• 1:00:34Speaker 05

Yeah, and I don't work, so to me, that was a place I...

• 1:00:38Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, right!

• 1:00:39Speaker 05

You know, that was a very, uh, first of all, I, I was there for two years, I never flirted or asked anyone out, so I waited two years to have the confidence. That day, I'm going on Gutfeld, which is the number one comedy show.

• 1:00:52Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:52Speaker 05

Oh, that gave me a little confidence. And then I had a comedy special on Fox Nation, and it was the number one show on the platform. It beat out Martin Scorsese's series. So I walked in, and that's the level of, you know...

• 1:01:06Jordan B. Peterson?

  Insanity.

• 1:01:07Speaker 05

And I still was nervous, you know, but I thought, Tyler, you're, you're thirty-eight, you're getting your life together, I don't drink, I don't smoke, you know, I'm under six feet tall, uh, and, and I asked someone out for coffee.

• 1:01:21Jordan B. Peterson?

Which is about as innocuous an approach as you can possibly manage.

• 1:01:24Speaker 05

Yeah, let's go meet in public during the day, avoid alcohol, and this is gonna be thirty minutes.

• 1:01:30Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, I think they should've put you in prison, frankly.

• 1:01:33Speaker 05

Well, well, it, you know, I, I did for about two weeks, I mean, I had a, I had a spiral, no, for two months.

• 1:01:41Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:42Speaker 05

Just going, did they put out a company-wide alert? There's a creep walking around, asking women out for coffee, you know? What if they don't like milk? What if they have allergies? What, that's rape in, in this building? And so, I, I, I just couldn't believe it. And, and when I put the story out, some press picked it up, they, all off the record, said, "This sounds completely bogus and made up."

• 1:02:09Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, but I would say also likely dreadfully common.

• 1:02:12Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:02:13Jordan B. Peterson?

It's also the case that when those draconian policies get put into place, people can weaponize them immediately, and the worst people do that instantly. The most jealous people, the most, the most, what? The most sadistic people, the most manipulative people, they grab onto those, like, inhuman rules and apply them for their own benefit.

• 1:02:34Speaker 05

What, what do you, you know, not to say we're gonna find a solution in ten seconds, but...

• 1:02:40Speaker 05

How do you push back? I mean, what I'm doing personally is saying, "I'm not gonna..." You know, the next day, I felt like a creep.

• 1:02:48Jordan B. Peterson?

The only way you push back against anything ever is by telling the truth.

• 1:02:52Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:02:52Jordan B. Peterson?

  That's the only strategy.

• 1:02:54Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:02:54Jordan B. Peterson?

There are no strategies. This is something else that's very useful to realize. In life, there are no strategies. Or you could put it a different way. You could say that the best medium-to-long-term strategy is the truth.

• 1:03:09Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:03:10Jordan B. Peterson?

And so, when I'm in a complicated situation, which is quite common, I just say what I think, always.

• 1:03:17Speaker 05

Well, I did that, based on your advice.

• 1:03:20Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:20Speaker 05

So, me going on Twitter and doing that was based... It was, "What do I do? What do I do?" Just tell the truth.

• 1:03:27Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah. Well, this also means that you have to act in a manner that allows you to tell the truth about what you did.

• 1:03:33Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:03:33Jordan B. Peterson?

Right? Because, well, for obvious reasons, because otherwise you have to pretend you did something else. So, that forces you to clean up your life so that you can actually represent it accurately. What happened when you went public with the story, such as it was?

• 1:03:48Speaker 05

It... Millions of, you know, views on Twitter.

• 1:03:52Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 1:03:52Speaker 05

And then, you know, I don't think of myself as famous in any way, shape, or form. The press picked it up, but I didn't even think that might happen.

• 1:04:00Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yes.

• 1:04:01Speaker 05

I'm still in... I'm banned on Twitter. I'm a naughty boy.

• 1:04:05Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 1:04:05Speaker 05

So, you know, I had no followers, you know, pretty much anywhere. So, I... Which is probably helpful, because I don't overthink it. I just said, "Put it out there." Uh, and, you know, the press, they said, "Somebody made an anonymous claim that they witnessed what happened." And they said, "You grabbed her phone and forced... You forced your number in it. And you demanded she, you know, confirm you had her phone number." None of which happened, and I take screenshots, because this stuff happens.

• 1:04:39Speaker 05

But it was, it was somebody watching that was so upset or jealous or, or perhaps far left who's working at Fox News, which there's a lot of them. And, uh, but I just said, I get no due process? I, I can't even have a country-

• 1:04:58Jordan B. Peterson?

That old patriarchal thing, you know?

• 1:05:00Speaker 05

Process? I worked there for free, by the way, you know? And, and I never complained about that, but I, I busted my ass flying the middle of the night, cross-country to get to that show because I loved going on that show because you can say what you want. And I, I love Greg and I love everybody there, but I just thought this is pretty alarming that they're all held hostage to this, you know?

• 1:05:22Jordan B. Peterson?

  Insanity.

• 1:05:23Speaker 05

  Insanity.

• 1:05:24Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:24Speaker 05

And, and I took the hit. I, I won't be back on there, but I took a big financial hit for that, probably quarter to a half of my income, because that's how I sold tickets was through that show.

• 1:05:35Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, right, right.

• 1:05:36Speaker 05

But I thought, what's more important than, than the truth?

• 1:05:39Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, again, again, you know, I, I think practically speaking, it's, see, the truth is a weird strategy because, well, look, look at it this way. Why do people lie? They lie to gain an advantage they don't deserve, or they lie to avoid a punishment they do deserve, generally. Like, there's other reasons, but those are two big categories. But the problem is, is that there's a difference between what happens to you in a year and what happens now. And so if you lie, well, you might avoid what's coming to you, but then you don't learn and you might gain something you don't deserve, but word gets around. And so it could easily be that you'll find out that if you can be patient enough, and

• 1:06:23Jordan B. Peterson?

that's part of the, that's part of what constitutes faith in the truth, right? If you're patient enough, it will turn around. Right?

• 1:06:35Jordan B. Peterson?

The journey to turning around might not be fun.

• 1:06:38Speaker 05

I've watched you go through it many times.

• 1:06:40Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, right. It's happened many times, many times.

• 1:06:43Speaker 05

But a heroic act for you to do it because you gave the model.

• 1:06:47Jordan B. Peterson?

  It's an act of terror.

• 1:06:49Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:06:49Jordan B. Peterson?

Actually, because I understand. I actually understand what happens if you get tangled up in lies.

• 1:06:54Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:06:55Jordan B. Peterson?

It's not, well, you said in your household, nobody could tell each other the truth. Well, that's a totalitarian state. Like, that's hell.

• 1:07:03Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:07:04Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, yeah, you don't want that. That's not good. That's not good. There's nothing worse than that. You can't even exist in a situation like that.

• 1:07:11Speaker 05

You had a client once, I remember you said, and you said, "I don't think anyone had ever told this person the truth in their life."

• 1:07:17Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, yeah, yeah, that was quite common. Or allowed them to.

• 1:07:21Speaker 05

  Allowed them.

• 1:07:22Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, or listened. Yeah, that's very common. It's very common. Yeah, steeped in sin, that's the theory, right, is that's when your whole environment is dominated by lies. It's brutal. And the only way out of that is to stop participating. That's it.

• 1:07:39Speaker 05

I've removed myself from many places. I rarely go to comedy clubs anymore. I, it's, there's too much risk of gossip and lies and, you know, backstabbing and that type of thing. It's my own personal, healthy need, you know, and drinking and drugs and you can go on and on and on. But, but.

• 1:08:01Jordan B. Peterson?

Nighttime businesses are a risk for that.

• 1:08:04Speaker 05

It was a sacrifice. You have to.

• 1:08:07Jordan B. Peterson?

So tell me about the tour and how that's going and what size audiences you're playing and how often you're laying out your comedic routines.

• 1:08:16Speaker 05

Well, it started with, you know, backyards and veteran halls and then it moved to one woman seeing me in Nashville, go on, I think after Theo Von, and she said.

• 1:08:29Jordan B. Peterson?

That's hard to do. Theo's pretty damn funny.

• 1:08:31Speaker 05

  Before or after him?

• 1:08:32Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:32Speaker 05

Um, and, and she just said, "Who the hell are you and why don't you have an agent?" And she got me an agent. And we booked.

• 1:08:40Jordan B. Peterson?

  When was that?

• 1:08:41Speaker 05

This was two, two and a half years ago.

• 1:08:44Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:45Speaker 05

And then we did one-nighters all around the country. You gotta go prove yourself. You go to a comedy club on a Tuesday night and they say, all right, how many people can you bring on a Tuesday night?

• 1:08:52Jordan B. Peterson?

  You're right.

• 1:08:53Speaker 05

And turns out my fans are pretty hardcore and a lot of them lost their livelihoods from COVID.

• 1:08:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:08:59Speaker 05

So they were available to come on a Tuesday night.

• 1:09:01Jordan B. Peterson?

  Ha! You see?

• 1:09:02Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:09:02Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:03Speaker 05

And I started packing these places out and we'd have to add a second show. And I nearly killed myself because it was, you know, it was how can you turn this down? But.

• 1:09:12Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:13Speaker 05

But I learned how to do it. And now I'm on year two. But it went from one-nighters to the entire weekend, which, which also giving, you know, or losing, I'd say my, my acting career to an extent. This has replaced it. This is, I'm all in. Um, and, and.

• 1:09:35Jordan B. Peterson?

So what does it mean to be all in?

• 1:09:37Speaker 05

  Well, it's giving up alcohol.

• 1:09:40Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:40Speaker 05

  Giving up.

• 1:09:41Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right.

• 1:09:42Speaker 05

Toxic people at all costs. Any, any negativity. Because you have to show up, as you know, when you, when you're on stage.

• 1:09:50Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:50Speaker 05

You have to give them yourself and, and I.

• 1:09:53Jordan B. Peterson?

And you have to be there.

• 1:09:54Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:09:55Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:55Speaker 05

You want them to, you know, this is a miracle.

• 1:09:59Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, we're very careful with the people we travel with. I have logistics guys, security guys. I have a great tour manager, John O'Connell, used to be a comedian. John never causes any trouble, always in good humor, entirely not neurotic. Plus he used to be a comedian, so he's damn funny. If there's any problem that comes up, he solves it.

• 1:10:20Speaker 05

  Fantastic.

• 1:10:21Jordan B. Peterson?

My, my logistics guys, my security guys, they're all awake and they treat the public very well, which is also seriously important. Right? So, yeah, yeah. And then you, then you get to the stage on time and away you go.

• 1:10:37Speaker 05

And I spent the, I took a lot, not a loss. I probably broke even the first year. I made a decision. You know, I'm not, I'm gonna do this right and I'm going to, you know, maybe get the, the better flight, the better hotel, the better meal. I travel with my dog and so I. Decided if I think I'm gonna really make it and suddenly have money and be able to turn that on. I don't think a lot of people can do it. I think they're stuck in that depravity mindset from the early days. And I saw a lot of comedians that are very famous and they're miserable. And they don't take care of themselves on tour and they worry about

• 1:11:15Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:15Speaker 05

Price of the cheeseburger. And I said, Tyler, we're not doing it. We're not doing that. So I spent all of my money to do it comfortably.

• 1:11:23Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, you're kind of lit, you're living on the road.

• 1:11:25Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:11:26Jordan B. Peterson?

Right? And then if you're playing the long-term game, you want to think, okay. My wife and I sat down and talked about this a lot. It's like, all right, we have an opportunity here. It's an unparalleled opportunity, a more or less continuous book tour.

• 1:11:41Speaker 05

I heard you're tough to share a room with. She had to.

• 1:11:44Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, we realized that we were living on the road.

• 1:11:47Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:11:48Jordan B. Peterson?

And that was two close quarters, you know? And so that that actually worked out extremely well. And the reason it worked out well, there was the sacrifice, of course, that went along with it, but

• 1:12:01Jordan B. Peterson?

the tour is much more sustainable. And if you're, that's what you have to think, like, what's getting in the way? What is going to make us say no instead of yes? And then you have to be honest about that because you think, well, that little thing wouldn't make you say no. It's like, you don't have to have many obstacles littering your path before you start taking something for granted and stop doing it. Really? Like, and so you want to be thinking for the long haul. And I don't know, like, how long do you think you, if you could, how long would you tour?

• 1:12:31Speaker 05

I really want to get back to acting.

• 1:12:32Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:33Speaker 05

Because I let that whole woke thing take me down for a while.

• 1:12:38Jordan B. Peterson?

Has, has the industry turned around enough so that like, people of your shade have a

• 1:12:44Speaker 05

Every, some of the biggest agents and managers, not only calling me, but breaking into my green room at shows.

• 1:12:53Speaker 05

  And I told them all

• 1:12:54Jordan B. Peterson?

  You have them hustled out?

• 1:12:54Speaker 05

To go fuck themselves. Because I don't trust them. And it did too much damage. It did too much damage. And so, for now, I can't be around it in any capacity. Until I have the means to produce my own, write, direct, and produce my own films. So, I'm gonna tour and save up and hopefully find-

• 1:13:19Jordan B. Peterson?

So I have a question about that. That'd be a psychological question, I suppose.

• 1:13:23Speaker 05

You know what they said too? They said, "Tyler, we think white people are gonna be accepted again soon."

• 1:13:28Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah?

• 1:13:28Speaker 05

"Do you hear yourself? That's your pitch? You know my story? That's your pitch? Shane Gillis is doing well." And I go, "Yeah, he is. He's brilliant, and he went through hell. And you're citing one white guy on Netflix? That's a... Fuck off." And so, yeah, I still have a lot of anger about it, obviously. But, uh-

• 1:13:49Jordan B. Peterson?

Is that worth revisiting? I mean, look, I don't wanna mess around with your life, and I have no, no, um, right or desire to do so, because it's your life, you know? And, but-

• 1:14:02Speaker 05

I'll tour with you. Sure, I'll do it.

• 1:14:03Jordan B. Peterson?

You have a reason to be annoyed, but I, I, I wonder if... Are there opportunities that you're foregoing because you're angry? You know, and, and do you need that? Like, people make mistakes. They make a lot of stupid mistakes. And the people that you're talking about made a lot of stupid mistakes. But that was, that was everywhere. It was a real social contagion. You know, and I guess maybe I'm wondering if you made your point? And whether you're hurting yourself in consequence of, you know, "I know you stuck to your guns, and I'm sure that was bloody difficult."

• 1:14:33Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:14:34Jordan B. Peterson?

But... Have you made your point?

• 1:14:38Speaker 05

I think I have to win this lawsuit before I move forward.

• 1:14:41Jordan B. Peterson?

  Ah, I see.

• 1:14:42Speaker 05

  It's exhausting. It's still- It's still, though it's moving slow, it's still-

• 1:14:49Jordan B. Peterson?

I have some advice about lawsuits.

• 1:14:51Speaker 05

  Sure, I would love to.

• 1:14:52Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, fine. Put away, put aside 5% of your time every week to think about the lawsuit and never think about it other than that.

• 1:14:57Speaker 05

  Good, yeah.

• 1:14:58Jordan B. Peterson?

  So, put aside some time.

• 1:14:59Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:15:00Jordan B. Peterson?

Because it's gonna, who knows how long it'll go.

• 1:15:03Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:15:03Jordan B. Peterson?

Could go for 10 more years. Like, it could go a long time.

• 1:15:05Speaker 05

  Absolutely.

• 1:15:06Jordan B. Peterson?

So, you have to, you have to segregate it, isolate it, and not let it bleed over into the rest of your life.

• 1:15:12Speaker 05

I'm getting better at that, for sure, for sure.

• 1:15:14Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, that, putting away that time to think about it,

• 1:15:17Speaker 05

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:15:17Jordan B. Peterson?

Then you know, when the thoughts come to mind, you think, no, I'm gonna, I'm gonna think about that Tuesday at 10:30 for 20 minutes, or for an hour, whatever it takes. But it's better to have that sequestered to manage it.

• 1:15:28Speaker 05

  Great idea.

• 1:15:29Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, it helps a lot. Yeah.

• 1:15:31Speaker 05

I think, I think it's become just, I've accepted it, that this is a part of, part of my journey.

• 1:15:37Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:15:37Speaker 05

I, it was embarrassing for a while. It's quite embarrassing to-

• 1:15:41Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, lawsuits, no joke. It's like, it's kinda like a chronic illness.

• 1:15:45Speaker 05

Yeah, and to be turned away for your skin color. And it's not that I wasn't-

• 1:15:51Jordan B. Peterson?

That's the progressive thing to do.

• 1:15:53Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah, it was, it was, it was humiliating, confusing, all that. I've gone-

• 1:15:57Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, no kidding.

• 1:15:58Speaker 05

But, but I know it's wrong, and, and so, I know it's worth fighting, and I think when I put that to rest, I can start, you know, I'm, I can start producing my own films. And I, but no, I won't work with anybody, any big studios or any of that. I just, I couldn't trust them. I mean, I, I had, I had a TV show that I sold as a, um, I got a development deal, and it was me and another guy, and they said, it's two white guys. They said, "Bring us a stack of non-white people to, to hire on the show." So, we had to get this, I still, I saved it. And it's just a list of people who aren't white, that not necessarily talented or fit for this, uh, specific TV show.

• 1:16:41Speaker 05

But it it it's too much to re-enter right now.

• 1:16:47Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, okay.

• 1:16:48Speaker 05

And I have, and I can go on.

• 1:16:49Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, you've thought it through, obviously.

• 1:16:51Speaker 05

Yeah, and I can go on stage and really, you know, there's a lot of people out there. They they're desperate for healing. You know, I just left Toronto and I said, have you guys recovered from this? And the.

• 1:17:02Jordan B. Peterson?

Toronto was really bad during COVID.

• 1:17:04Speaker 05

  People are suffering still.

• 1:17:05Jordan B. Peterson?

Oh, yeah. It was, I don't think, I probably went to, I don't know, 150 cities around the COVID period. I think Toronto was the worst.

• 1:17:17Speaker 05

What do you mean, oh, how they?

• 1:17:19Jordan B. Peterson?

In terms of lockdown and intensity of oppression and self-righteousness, that whole combination. It was pretty brutal and I don't think the city has recovered from it.

• 1:17:29Speaker 05

  No.

• 1:17:31Jordan B. Peterson?

  So.

• 1:17:31Speaker 05

What do you think? How do you think people can be guided to recover from that? Because we're not going to get an apology from the government. Trudeau's not going to come out in a headdress and blackface and say, I'm sorry. You know, is it just?

• 1:17:45Jordan B. Peterson?

Yes, well, he's departed for parts unknown, thank God. Yes, taking all his shame with him. Unfortunately, leaving another liberal in charge of the country. So Canadians are going to pay for that, in my estimation.

• 1:17:59Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 1:18:00Jordan B. Peterson?

I don't know, probably as a consequence of people like you doing what you're doing with the lawsuit. You know, is by trying to set things right again and by not putting up with that kind of nonsense anymore. To root it out. That's going to be a lot of work. There's a lot of nonsense. There's all the net zero nonsense, all that climate apocalypse catastrophe. All the notions that there are too many people on the planet, all that anti-family nonsense. All this idiocy between men and women that have divided them politically in such a catastrophic way. All this racial tension that was generated out of nothing by ideologues starting in about 2010.

• 1:18:42Jordan B. Peterson?

You know, Toronto had become race-blind. When I raised my kids in Toronto, no one cared, literally, no one cared.

• 1:18:51Speaker 05

  That's how it was.

• 1:18:52Jordan B. Peterson?

And that meant the bloody moralizing progressives had nothing to do. And so, yeah, problem solved. Well, we need a problem because we don't have anything else to do except complain and whine and protest. Better manufacture one. Sickening. So there's a lot that needs to be straightened out still. Yeah. Well, you do that by telling the truth.

• 1:19:15Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:19:16Jordan B. Peterson?

And you know, if you tell the truth in a witty manner, you get to be a comedian.

• 1:19:21Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 1:19:21Speaker 00

Your sausage McMuffin with egg didn't change. Your receipt did. The sausage McMuffin with egg extra value meal includes a hash brown and a small coffee for just $5. Only at McDonald's for a limited time.

• 1:19:34Speaker 01

Price and participation may vary. Promotion pricing may be lower than meal pricing.

• 1:19:37Jordan B. Peterson?

  People think you're funny.

• 1:19:38Speaker 05

And if I do it in your voice, I get I get the serious, uh, the serious money.

• 1:19:42Jordan B. Peterson?

How many impressions can you do?

• 1:19:44Speaker 05

I, I, I probably do upwards of 50, but there's some that I don't even know I can do until, you know, until I do them, you know? I, I have a joke about

• 1:19:55Jordan B. Peterson?

  Quite a talent, yeah.

• 1:19:56Speaker 05

About women's, um, uh, voices these days, you know, like the vocal fry, you know? And I just said, why does, why does every, and by the way, I love RFK Junior, but I said, why does every woman under 30 sound like RFK Junior? And I, and this, this whole thing about, you know, this is how women sound in bed, you know? I want you to joke me, right? Call me a bitch. And I do that on, that just came out.

• 1:20:20Jordan B. Peterson?

  Wow. Yeah, that's pretty good.

• 1:20:21Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah. And, and all my fans love RFK.

• 1:20:24Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:24Speaker 05

And I think he's a fan of mine. But that was an interesting one. Uh, Rogan shut it down on his podcast. He's like, don't, don't do, so, you know, I didn't want to piss him off. Uh, but it's interesting because some people say

• 1:20:36Jordan B. Peterson?

RFK has a sense of humor.

• 1:20:38Speaker 05

Exactly. And they say, that's offensive. And I say, well, no, I'm just doing his voice. But that's become, uh, one of my most fun jokes to do. Uh, but the voice is just, I think it was a part of the mom crying and the mirroring. It was my ability to mirror people because I thought

• 1:20:58Jordan B. Peterson?

You know, that capacity to modulate your voice like that, I mean, that, that's really a remarkable talent. I, I, I really enjoyed watching Rich Little, for example. There is a number of, there was a French Canadian who was an unbelievably good mimic too. I can't remember his name. He was very famous for a while.

• 1:21:15Speaker 05

  Jim Carrey's fantastic.

• 1:21:16Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, Carrey's good at it, yeah.

• 1:21:17Speaker 05

  Nobody can do

• 1:21:18Jordan B. Peterson?

Russell Brand's pretty good at it.

• 1:21:19Speaker 05

  He's good.

• 1:21:20Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, it's some, that's that ability to You're particularly good at it with the voice, you know, some of the impressionists, they also, I don't know, maybe you can do that too. They get the gestures down and while you do that with me to some degree.

• 1:21:32Speaker 05

  Sure, yeah.

• 1:21:33Jordan B. Peterson?

So, but it's like being inhabited by the spirit of someone else. It's a real talent, that shape-shifting ability.

• 1:21:38Speaker 05

It's a lot of fun. And, and part of, uh, what I think when I started was I was actually so afraid to say what I wanted on stage.

• 1:21:46Jordan B. Peterson?

  Ah.

• 1:21:46Speaker 05

I would use you. I would use Trump. And then the crowd couldn't get mad. Cause like, well, the bloody feminists, these bitches, you know.

• 1:21:54Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, right, right.

• 1:21:55Speaker 05

Oh, that's Jordan Peterson saying it.

• 1:21:56Jordan B. Peterson?

  Right, right.

• 1:21:57Speaker 05

And I thought, oh, I get away scot-free.

• 1:22:00Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah. Yeah, well, I mean, part of acting is the, is the opportunity to inhabit all sorts of different fictional realities and experiment with them. And that's why people go to movies, to see that.

• 1:22:12Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:22:13Jordan B. Peterson?

So it's a perfectly reasonable thing for an actor to do. It's nice to know what your own voice is though, that's for sure.

• 1:22:18Speaker 05

Yeah, that's, yeah, I'm trying to do that a little bit more.

• 1:22:21Jordan B. Peterson?

So I'm gonna come and see you Friday or Sunday.

• 1:22:24Speaker 05

  Fantastic.

• 1:22:24Jordan B. Peterson?

I think you're in Phoenix. Where, tell me where your next venues are and how people can find your tickets.

• 1:22:29Speaker 05

I'll be in Baltimore. I think by the time this comes out, I'll be doing a full weekend in Baltimore. Uh, and then I have June off and then I start up.

• 1:22:37Jordan B. Peterson?

  Everybody's vacation favorite?

• 1:22:38Speaker 05

Yep. And then I start back up. I have a hundred shows the rest of the year. So.

• 1:22:42Jordan B. Peterson?

  Hundred shows?

• 1:22:43Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:22:43Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah.

• 1:22:43Speaker 05

All over the country. And then hopefully I'll do Europe next year.

• 1:22:47Jordan B. Peterson?

  When?

• 1:22:47Speaker 05

  In 2026.

• 1:22:48Jordan B. Peterson?

Do you know when in, in?

• 1:22:50Speaker 05

We're kinda working on that right now.

• 1:22:51Jordan B. Peterson?

I see, I see. Cause I'm in Europe between January and March in 2026.

• 1:22:55Speaker 05

  I'll see.

• 1:22:56Jordan B. Peterson?

Maybe we can, maybe we can.

• 1:22:57Speaker 05

  That would be fun.

• 1:22:57Jordan B. Peterson?

  That would be fun.

• 1:22:58Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:22:59Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:22:59Speaker 05

Yeah, that's a dream. I start doing your voice and you come out and just push me off.

• 1:23:03Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, maybe we can do that in Phoenix.

• 1:23:05Speaker 05

  Oh, that'd be great.

• 1:23:06Jordan B. Peterson?

  That might be fun.

• 1:23:06Speaker 05

Oh, yes. Oh, I wasn't even gonna ask.

• 1:23:08Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, we'll see what, we'll see what comes up spontaneously.

• 1:23:12Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 1:23:12Jordan B. Peterson?

That would be good. Well, it's a pleasure talking to you.

• 1:23:14Speaker 05

  Absolute pleasure.

• 1:23:15Jordan B. Peterson?

  Yeah, well, and congratulations.

• 1:23:16Speaker 05

I'm glad I didn't have quite enough time to process coming on this. Cause I'm not sure I would have handled it well.

• 1:23:21Jordan B. Peterson?

Well, you handled it a hundred percent as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking forward to seeing your show. It was very interesting to hear your story. Congratulations on your.

• 1:23:31Jordan B. Peterson?

Persistence and your persistent success. I mean, you've taken quite the snake-like path on the entertainment side and a lot of obstacles. But the fact that you raised your career again from the ashes on the comedy circuit, that's and.

• 1:25:02Jordan B. Peterson?

I really like the the emphasis in your story about the fact that, you know, you kind of played anywhere and you have to do that. You have to do the work.

• 1:25:11Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:25:12Jordan B. Peterson?

And you you take the opportunities where they're given to you and then maybe they'll grow. If you do them seriously, if you take them with some gratitude, then they'll grow. And now you've got a real fan base, you know? So that's that's a ground up. Word of mouth fanbase, that's a good deal.

• 1:25:30Speaker 05

I owe them, yeah. I like showing up no matter how rough the circumstances. I had a stomach virus on my birthday and showed up in Orlando. I didn't tell them, but I said, "You're gonna go up on that damn stage."

• 1:25:44Jordan B. Peterson?

No matter what. Yeah, I've been in bed many times, half an hour before a lecture, an hour before a lecture, thinking, "Jesus, I can't even get out of bed. I'm supposed to be in front of 3,000 people in an hour. There's no way that's going to happen."

• 1:26:00Speaker 05

  And change their lives, hopefully.

• 1:26:03Jordan B. Peterson?

  But it happens.

• 1:26:04Speaker 05

  Good for you.

• 1:26:04Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, yeah, well, and thank God. Well, and thank God for that opportunity, you know, because it's really good to have something to get the hell out of bed for when you're not feeling that great. So, and that's some real utility and purpose, that's for sure. Good talking to you, man. I'm looking forward to the show.

• 1:26:22Speaker 05

  Well, thank you.

• 1:26:23Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, you bet, you bet. And everybody watching and listening on YouTube and the other platforms, Spotify, etc., Apple, thank you very much for your time and attention. Great to talk to Tyler Fischer today.

• 1:26:37Speaker 05

Make your bed. It really started there.

• 1:26:41Jordan B. Peterson?

Yeah, well, little things aren't lit... Little things you do every day, that's your life, right? People don't understand that. They're waiting for some, something special. It's like, no, your life is what you do every day, so get it right. Yeah. Thank you very much for your time and attention.
