Welcome to the snack, a lighter serving of Girls Gotta Eat. This is a Dear Media production. Enjoy.

• 0:10Ashley Hesseltine?

  Hi guys.

• 0:11Rayna Greenberg?

  Hi.

• 0:12Ashley Hesseltine?

  It's cancer season.

• 0:14Rayna Greenberg?

  Oh, good.

• 0:14Ashley Hesseltine?

We did not announce it Monday.

• 0:16Rayna Greenberg?

  Welcome.

• 0:17Ashley Hesseltine?

Did we have an episode? We did have, yeah. We just, we'd recorded that kind of farther out. So what just wanted to say, give it up for all the cancers. Favorite time of year.

• 0:26Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, I saw you sent you little babies.

• 0:27Ashley Hesseltine?

We've been celebrating this since day one of the podcast.

• 0:30Rayna Greenberg?

  I know.

• 0:31Ashley Hesseltine?

  Early days.

• 0:32Rayna Greenberg?

And you think I know when the season started. I do not.

• 0:34Ashley Hesseltine?

  I always know.

• 0:35Rayna Greenberg?

Uh, what's the date? Like, the 21st.

• 0:38Ashley Hesseltine?

  21st.

• 0:38Rayna Greenberg?

  The solstice?

• 0:39Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, yeah. Well, did you celebrate the solstice?

• 0:43Rayna Greenberg?

I don't think I, okay, what was the 21st? What day was it?

• 0:45Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, it was supposed to be the 20th.

• 0:47Rayna Greenberg?

  Was my day?

• 0:47Ashley Hesseltine?

I think they're the same. 20th, 21st. I feel like there's two camps. I've always been like a 21st person. 21st is like the first day of the summer, longest day of the year, but then they say it's the 20th. Who's to say? I feel like we grew up on the 21st.

• 0:59Rayna Greenberg?

I thought it was the, I, well, to me, the 21st signals the shortest day of the year, the longest day of the year. You cannot tell me otherwise.

• 1:04Ashley Hesseltine?

But then the, the internet says it's the 20th. When did this change to the 20th? I swear it used to be the 21st.

• 1:09Rayna Greenberg?

  It was 21 always.

• 1:10Ashley Hesseltine?

But who cares what the sun sets at 8:07 versus 8:06?

• 1:13Rayna Greenberg?

All my friends are cancers or geminis. I mean, I have an influx of June cancer friends.

• 1:18Ashley Hesseltine?

  Best time of year.

• 1:19Rayna Greenberg?

It's, oh, I love having a summer birthday.

• 1:21Ashley Hesseltine?

  A summer birthday.

• 1:21Rayna Greenberg?

  It's the best.

• 1:23Ashley Hesseltine?

All right. Well, happy cancer season to everyone who observes and celebrates. Happy birthday. And we'll get into it.

• 1:30Rayna Greenberg?

Um, I just had the weirdest lunch and you didn't really pay attention and I'm glad. Cause I got octopus from Arowan, like grilled octopus. And you kept trying to make eye contact with me and I was like, could she just be on our phone call and not look at me?

• 1:41Ashley Hesseltine?

I was dealing with something, but I didn't realize you got the Arowan octopus. You're really getting ready for grease.

• 1:49Rayna Greenberg?

Okay. So I've been going to Arowan at lunch a lot lately because I have a thing for one of the checkout guys.

• 1:53Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh, my God.

• 1:53Rayna Greenberg?

He's so hot. He's inexplicably hot.

• 1:55Ashley Hesseltine?

  Do you flirt?

• 1:56Rayna Greenberg?

  A lot.

• 1:57Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 1:57Rayna Greenberg?

  Sometimes I just stand there.

• 1:58Ashley Hesseltine?

Does he give you free stuff?

• 1:59Rayna Greenberg?

  No.

• 2:00Ashley Hesseltine?

See if he'll give you a free little something, something.

• 2:02Rayna Greenberg?

There's nothing up there for free.

• 2:03Ashley Hesseltine?

Just see if he'll give you on the house. My farmer's market guy gave me something on the house the other day. Like an Italian guy? That guy is so hot.

• 2:11Rayna Greenberg?

  He's so fucking hot.

• 2:13Ashley Hesseltine?

So I spend so, every week I get this pasta from this place, My Farmer's Market and at Pasta LA. It's the best pasta I've ever had, truly, made in my home.

• 2:20Rayna Greenberg?

I don't even care how it tastes. That guy's so hot.

• 2:22Ashley Hesseltine?

He's only at My Farmer's Market like, once a month. We go every Saturday.

• 2:26Rayna Greenberg?

  I see him in Venice.

• 2:27Ashley Hesseltine?

And he was there the first time they ever came there. First day, like they, their debut at My Farmer's Market, because I know all the stalls, I know who's new. I'm like, oh, they're new. So they brought him in to attract people and then he hasn't been there since. And I'm still buying every week.

• 2:42Rayna Greenberg?

  They baited and switched you.

• 2:43Ashley Hesseltine?

Nope, it's fine, because I love the pasta and the sauces so much. So then I saw him, I'm like, I'm buying everything. And then I bought like, two pastas and some Parmesan. And then he was like, we have meatballs. I was like, oh, he brings out the meatballs. I bought $70 worth of stuff.

• 2:57Rayna Greenberg?

Oh, I bought $85 worth of stuff the day that I met that guy. Two pastas, cheese. Anushka was like, you're gonna love this stand, you gotta go. And I was like, this guy is too hot, I can't say no.

• 3:05Ashley Hesseltine?

And so then he put, he gave me a little thing of this like, butter. What is it called? Something, it's like, a special butter.

• 3:11Rayna Greenberg?

A special butter? Like clarified butter?

• 3:13Ashley Hesseltine?

No, like, uh, it's got s-

• 3:14Rayna Greenberg?

  Compound butter.

• 3:15Ashley Hesseltine?

Yes. My fiance's big on it. And so you can use it on like, steaks and different things like that. He was like, this one's on the house. So that's what you gotta see. My point is, the guy at Air One, stick a little something, small and cheap in there. Not that there's anything in there.

• 3:28Rayna Greenberg?

The only things up at the register at Air One are a $75 candle and like, a $120 hat. I checked.

• 3:34Ashley Hesseltine?

You don't think there's like, a pack of gum?

• 3:35Rayna Greenberg?

  That's probably $35.

• 3:37Ashley Hesseltine?

Here's the thing, you just like, bring all your items up there and have your little small thing, whatever it may be, like a cookie or brownie, even though that's gonna be $20. And kind of forget to like, be like, oh, you must have missed this. And then if he's like, that one's on the house.

• 3:51Rayna Greenberg?

We like wink at each other and then we're gonna fuck, then I'm gonna fuck the cashier in Air One.

• 3:55Ashley Hesseltine?

  In the stockroom.

• 3:55Rayna Greenberg?

He wears like, a fit to work. He always, you can't tell, listen.

• 3:58Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh no, here we go. Did you take a picture?

• 4:00Rayna Greenberg?

Yesterday, I took a picture for you. I, you can't, listen, no one-

• 4:04Ashley Hesseltine?

The last time this happened, the last time you showed me a picture of somebody you had a crush on, it did not work in your favor.

• 4:09Rayna Greenberg?

Okay, well, listen, I promise you, no one looks cute from behind. Like, some girls look cute from behind, but it's hard to be at a register at a grocery store and looking cute from behind. But he like, wears a little fit, he's tall.

• 4:22Ashley Hesseltine?

  He is gay.

• 4:23Rayna Greenberg?

  No, he's not.

• 4:24Ashley Hesseltine?

Yes, he is. Great. I'm just saying.

• 4:26Rayna Greenberg?

  That's everybody in LA.

• 4:28Ashley Hesseltine?

He's the way his, his stance, he's about to do a plie. And he's clutching his butt cheeks.

• 4:34Rayna Greenberg?

No, I'll tell you, I saw him in a weird moment.

• 4:36Ashley Hesseltine?

  100%.

• 4:37Rayna Greenberg?

We're gonna go over there after this. You're gonna see him.

• 4:39Ashley Hesseltine?

Send this to Eddie. Send this to Mateo. Send it to Oscar. This guy is about to plie. He is spread. This is his beat.

• 4:47Rayna Greenberg?

Listen, I live in LA, okay? And you have to accept a little gay if you want to date a man here.

• 4:52Ashley Hesseltine?

This could be your new gay bestie.

• 4:54Rayna Greenberg?

He is hot and you got, he does look a little gay there.

• 5:01Rayna Greenberg?

I hold up the line flirting with this man. He's got good facial hair. He's like 6'2".

• 5:06Ashley Hesseltine?

This man does not want you.

• 5:07Rayna Greenberg?

  He does.

• 5:09Ashley Hesseltine?

All right, guys, we have some partners to talk about.

• 5:11Rayna Greenberg?

• 5:32Rayna Greenberg?

Okay, I am the only person in America that did not get engaged, announced a pregnancy, or have a baby this weekend, and you don't count because you are engaged. I am the only one.

• 5:45Ashley Hesseltine?

Listen, this weekend was a check on your single friends moment.

• 5:49Rayna Greenberg?

  It was an avalanche.

• 5:51Ashley Hesseltine?

Um, so this is our pregnancy and engagement report.

• 5:56Rayna Greenberg?

We're gonna try to make me kill myself.

• 5:58Ashley Hesseltine?

You wanted to do this report, just so I need to say to the camera.

• 6:01Rayna Greenberg?

I'm happy for our friends. There's like so many former guests of ours.

• 6:05Ashley Hesseltine?

So it's, yes, it's former guests and we'll throw a few more in there, but it was like one after the other. It was engagement, pregnancy, engagement, pregnancy, engagement, pregnancy, my whole feed. And World War III, but we'll get to it.

• 6:20Rayna Greenberg?

I barely realized we were going to war this weekend because I was, because I was at war.

• 6:26Ashley Hesseltine?

You almost missed the president tweeting out his war plans.

• 6:31Rayna Greenberg?

You guys better stop that right now.

• 6:33Ashley Hesseltine?

We'll get to it. So I think engagement season has typically been end of summer. I'm not just saying this because it's when I got engaged. No, it's, I have said this, I can be on record. I blogged about this so many years ago, back when I lived in Atlanta. Kind of tongue in cheek that guys would propose to their girlfriends at the end of the summer, early fall, so the girls would plan weddings and leave them alone for football season. Obviously, I lived in the South, big college football. I mean, I had, my ex was obsessed with football. So it kind of went viral and it took off. They had me on like a radio station to talk about. Anyway, it was just a theory because whatever it is was jokingly, but that's when you do see them the most. I even talked to my wedding planner about it, like Labor Day-ish. And again, that is when I got engaged, but I saw ones around mine, like end of August, early September. So this is the opposite.

• 7:18Ashley Hesseltine?

This is the beginning of summer.

• 7:20Rayna Greenberg?

  I got engaged June 14th.

• 7:21Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 7:22Rayna Greenberg?

I got engaged, I was the beginning of the summer, baby.

• 7:23Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, I guess this is the new season or like existing, but like it is interesting, like this beginning of summer, end of summer vibe.

• 7:30Rayna Greenberg?

So I mean, it was an avalanche of people. So we woke up Saturday morning and our friends, so all, a lot of former guests, Alyssa Maroso, who was our guest in January of 2024.

• 7:40Ashley Hesseltine?

  I think so.

• 7:41Rayna Greenberg?

Something around there. We have been with her since the start of the relationship. We were with them on like one of their first dates, her now fiance. And we just like love him so much. They met on Hinge and she found love in LA, which is crazy.

• 7:54Ashley Hesseltine?

I mean, it's just interesting. We were chatting a little bit and again, we love him and the time that we met him, we were going to go to this movie, we were going to see Devil Wears Prada at the cemetery, Cenospia, and we had an extra ticket and we were like, does Sean want to pick us up? And he picked us up and like he came with all the girls. But we went, I remember this dinner, it was me and Alyssa and Kate Steinberg and Alyssa had just gotten back from Greece, that big European trip. And she talked about this when she came on our podcast and they had just had their whirlwind weekend together. So I don't know, whatever it was, August 23. And I had just made it official with my now fiance. And it's just funny to think back to that dinner and like we went to this place in Beverly Hills and just being like, she's like, I think I'm going to date this guy. And I'm like, no, I have a boyfriend too.

• 8:39Ashley Hesseltine?

Like it was just kind of funny to. To look, I don't know. I get like sentiment about those moments when you first started dating somebody and now you're gonna marry them. And we've been along on the ride the whole time. They're so cute. They're really buddies. They're so fun together. They're a great couple. And they just moved to Newport, Rhode Island together. And he proposed.

• 8:57Rayna Greenberg?

I do love being there from like day one. I mean, I'm like that with a lot of long time friendships. I have a lot of friends I've like seen since day one of their relationships. It's really nice to watch it grow. So, congrats to them. And then Taylor Strecker, who's been on the podcast, and her wife, Taylor Donahue, announced that they are pregnant. And everyone's like, you gotta name your kid Taylor.

• 9:16Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. And they didn't know if they wouldn't have kids. They, we've talked about, I don't know if Taylor, we talked about it on her podcast. So she has Taste of Taylor. She's also on Dear Media. And I think she asked us, like, how do you know you don't want kids? I think we talked about it. We've been on her show a couple of times. So she's always been really open and always been like, I'm not gonna be the one to carry the child. And Taylor, her wife, would. And they announced their pregnancy. And can I tell you my favorite comment was probably the same as yours, was Andrew Collin in the comments saying, I'm so glad to be the donor.

• 9:51Ashley Hesseltine?

So proud to be the donor.

• 9:55Ashley Hesseltine?

I can't stop thinking about it.

• 9:58Rayna Greenberg?

  What if he is?

• 9:59Ashley Hesseltine?

I mean, it's not that far outside of, why not?

• 10:05Rayna Greenberg?

You don't want a baby with a last-

• 10:06Ashley Hesseltine?

  Friends have your kid.

• 10:07Rayna Greenberg?

  You kinda can.

• 10:08Ashley Hesseltine?

  His wife is probably like-

• 10:09Rayna Greenberg?

  Oh, right? His wife?

• 10:10Ashley Hesseltine?

  Brother-

• 10:11Rayna Greenberg?

  I wouldn't like it.

• 10:14Ashley Hesseltine?

  So, congrats to them.

• 10:15Rayna Greenberg?

We're obsessed with them. We just love them so much.

• 10:17Ashley Hesseltine?

And then, I don't know, probably the one that lit the internet up the most was Alex and John, Alexandra Madison and John Booth, who were guests on our podcast last year. You guys were obsessed with them. And they're big influencers and content creators. And they lost a child a few years ago, and were really open about the journey. They were really far into the pregnancy. And they did lose their baby Leo. And, you know, they had put it out there to the world. And they really shared their journey. And if you- You guys haven't heard their episode, please go listen because they really are so open and vulnerable about that. But it's also a hilarious episode.

• 10:57Rayna Greenberg?

It was one of our best.

• 10:58Ashley Hesseltine?

Our best. And so they are pregnant again and they're gonna have a baby girl. I mean, that, that just, I just, tears just started pouring down my face. I didn't see that coming. I didn't, again, they've also said they didn't know if they want to have kids. Like, they didn't know if they wanted to have kids before they got pregnant the first time. So I, I made this decision and they put it out there to the world. And so, oof, man, people were not okay.

• 11:21Rayna Greenberg?

I was really not okay. I've been crying. Them and Taylor and Taylor, the content they made, like calling their friends, telling people, I'd just been crying all weekend.

• 11:30Ashley Hesseltine?

And then a few others, I mean, non guests, but Jordan Woodruff, who is Mean Girl Pod, and we've been on there. And I followed her journey too. Her now fiance.

• 11:42Rayna Greenberg?

  Also Hinge, I think.

• 11:42Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, they met on Hinge. I remember listening to the episode where she talked Pete, where she met him. And it's just like, I don't know. And then, um, someone who, whatever, people have mixed feelings on, I'm not, I wouldn't call myself a fan, but Daniel Bernstein is an influencer. We wore what? And she got engaged and I can't help myself. I gotta watch the content. Well, you sent it to me because you're like, another one, another one.

• 12:04Rayna Greenberg?

And another one. I mean, that Saturday, thank God I was in Laguna Beach. Thank God I was on a luxury vacation in a seaside town.

• 12:13Rayna Greenberg?

  I was like, am I okay? I don't know.

• 12:16Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, but like, you don't want kids.

• 12:20Ashley Hesseltine?

Now these people gotta have a kid.

• 12:23Rayna Greenberg?

  Think of all the attention.

• 12:24Ashley Hesseltine?

Now you gotta raise a kid.

• 12:25Rayna Greenberg?

What am I gonna do for attention?

• 12:27Ashley Hesseltine?

I don't know. You just had Raina Palooza. You've had a lot of attention.

• 12:30Rayna Greenberg?

Listen, it's worn off and I'm ready again. Okay, our friends make fun of me so much because we were in Vegas with Sean and Anushka and this guy who wants kids. And Sean and Anushka said they knew that I was blacked out because I started telling him at dinner that I wanted kids because I was like, what am I, what else am I gonna do in my 40s?

• 12:48Ashley Hesseltine?

No, I heard, I caught wind of this. I was like, that's what happens when I don't come to a, to a friend vacation. Raina starts lying.

• 12:54Rayna Greenberg?

  That was my dirty talk.

• 12:55Ashley Hesseltine?

  To get laid.

• 12:58Rayna Greenberg?

  It worked.

• 12:59Ashley Hesseltine?

You're like, I'll rip this out of your deal right now.

• 13:01Rayna Greenberg?

  It worked.

• 13:02Ashley Hesseltine?

  Um, so congrats to everybody.

• 13:04Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, we just, we love all these couples so much. We're so obsessed with all of them and, um, congrats.

• 13:09Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 13:09Rayna Greenberg?

  Anyways, war.

• 13:10Ashley Hesseltine?

World War III is here. It's on our doorstep. Is it looming?

• 13:16Rayna Greenberg?

We're not, listen, we have to laugh about it because what else are we gonna do?

• 13:18Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, I mean, it's just kinda like, everything that's happening right now is so, I don't have the words for how bad it is on, in so many different, I don't even know what to focus on. Our data, the forests, like, everything is so bad, but like, I don't know.

• 13:37Rayna Greenberg?

Every five minutes, something else happens.

• 13:39Ashley Hesseltine?

Humor is healing. We're gonna make some jokey jokes about it.

• 13:44Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, listen, my central nervous system needs it. It's like every hour, something else crazy and terrible happens. I don't have time to process it. I just gotta write jokes.

• 13:52Ashley Hesseltine?

I know, and I go back and forth because I'm like, I don't wanna like, make light of, you know, I don't wanna be so doomsday and alarmist. I just, do, do we wanna look back if we're really in the thick of it? Really terrible worst case scenario and be like, we were just joking about it. Like, I don't know, am I gonna regret it? I, I go back and forth as a comedian of like, what's, where's the line? Because this stuff weighs on me so heavily. But it kinda ties into Alex and John, and you said you were texting with Alex and you're not gonna read your texts out loud, but you said something about her, I'm getting pregnant, and she wrote back a dark joke.

• 14:23Rayna Greenberg?

They talked out of their jokes, yeah.

• 14:25Ashley Hesseltine?

They did some, they told some dark jokes on our show too, and they made content surrounding it and stuff like that. So it just kinda all goes in, and like, the darkest of times, can you still find humor? And so this kinda started, I mean, it's been, it's been going on, like, of course, like, this maniac of a president. But, um, Israel and Iran are, are fighting, they've been fighting, and our crybaby of a president.

• 14:49Rayna Greenberg?

  She's tweeting out orders.

• 14:50Ashley Hesseltine?

Was upset no one came to his birthday party, so he was like, let me get in there and drop some bombs, and then declare world peace in the same breath. And then he tweeted out, okay, everything's fixed now. They're done fighting.

• 15:01Rayna Greenberg?

  And I.

• 15:02Ashley Hesseltine?

  Thank you.

• 15:03Rayna Greenberg?

I clown face emoji was like, maybe we are.

• 15:05Ashley Hesseltine?

  You're welcome.

• 15:06Rayna Greenberg?

I was like, maybe it's true.

• 15:08Ashley Hesseltine?

People were like, what is that? Did he just say he ended the conflict? Like, is he just the luckiest girl in the world? Or is, are they playing him?

• 15:18Rayna Greenberg?

I was just walking around like, that's neat.

• 15:20Ashley Hesseltine?

Low of a hole, they played him. He wakes up, wait, they're not, they didn't ceasefire? So now he's tweeting again.

• 15:28Rayna Greenberg?

He's like, I already tweeted that it's over. What are you guys doing? I ended it. You gotta read me the next tweet.

• 15:34Ashley Hesseltine?

So, this one, um, one of my comments is getting a lot of traction. So I'll just pull this up. So he's going, um, this is today, I believe, as we record, Tuesday. The first one, "Israel, do not drop those bombs. If you do it, it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home now." Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, tweeting out, "Israel, put the bombs down."

• 15:57Rayna Greenberg?

He's like, "You stop that right now. You go back to your rooms and you stop that."

• 16:00Ashley Hesseltine?

I will turn this car around.

• 16:01Rayna Greenberg?

  He signed his own tweet.

• 16:02Ashley Hesseltine?

  He signed his own tweet.

• 16:03Rayna Greenberg?

I love when my dad texts me and he's like, "Happy birthday, love dad." I'm like, "I, I read who this was from."

• 16:08Ashley Hesseltine?

Then, uh, like 30 minutes later. The first one was all caps and we'll put it on the screen. "Israel is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home while doing a friendly plane wave

• 16:22Ashley Hesseltine?

to Iran." Like, they're, they're Jeep drivers? A plane wave? Is that a thing?

• 16:28Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, you know, like during a parade, like people wave.

• 16:32Ashley Hesseltine?

"Nobody will be hurt. The ceasefire is in effect. Thank you for your attention to this matter." Donald J. Trump, President of the United States.

• 16:38Rayna Greenberg?

Do you think he talked to anybody? Or do you think he is just brokering world peace just on Twitter?

• 16:42Ashley Hesseltine?

And this is what's so gross that we have to take these people seriously.

• 16:46Rayna Greenberg?

  I know.

• 16:46Ashley Hesseltine?

Cause they shouldn't be. They're really incompetent. And, you know, the regime change, J.D. Vance, Pete Hegseth, and Marco Rubio were like, "We're not interested in regime changes in Iran." And Trump's like, "Maybe though, maybe."

• 16:59Rayna Greenberg?

  Maybe we get lit.

• 16:59Ashley Hesseltine?

Iran wants to be great again.

• 17:02Ashley Hesseltine?

Just takes a minute to just like undermine his whole administration. Okay, so some of these comments on this are pretty good. I'll read mine first. It's up to like 1,200 likes as of an hour ago.

• 17:11Rayna Greenberg?

It's so satisfying. This is why I troll the internet every day.

• 17:13Ashley Hesseltine?

I wrote, "Is the ceasefire in the room with us?"

• 17:17Ashley Hesseltine?

Someone wrote, "Signing his tweets, like my parents sign their text messages."

• 17:20Rayna Greenberg?

  That's what I'm saying, it's so boomer.

• 17:22Ashley Hesseltine?

My favorite one is, "I hope Israel checks their Twitter account in time."

• 17:34Ashley Hesseltine?

Also, I don't think this is Twitter. I think this is Truth Social. So does Israel even have Truth Social?

• 17:42Rayna Greenberg?

Do they even know about Truth Social?

• 17:44Ashley Hesseltine?

  Does Iran have Truth Social?

• 17:45Rayna Greenberg?

No, they don't know about this.

• 17:48Ashley Hesseltine?

Can I tell you my dumb little joke?

• 17:49Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 17:50Ashley Hesseltine?

Do you think Trump bombed Iran because it rhymes with Elon?

• 18:01Ashley Hesseltine?

No, we're not. We're not. This is really happening. This is the stuff he's tweeting.

• 18:06Rayna Greenberg?

So like, he thinks he's just brokering world beefs on Truth Social.

• 18:11Ashley Hesseltine?

I have one more. I have one more. I made a poo poo and a pee pee. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Why is he signing off like he's Gossip Girl? Is he assuming that Iran and Israel both have Truth Social? Oh my, it's, I can't believe this is real life. Like, it's so dangerous and embarrassing.

• 18:29Rayna Greenberg?

And then he dropped the hottest observation of all time on his way on his helicopter this morning. Someone was like, what's going on over there? And he goes, I don't know what the fuck is going on with Israel and Iran. If that wasn't the president, that would be the funniest political commentary on this situation that I've ever heard. Because honestly, most of us don't. But it's not my job to know.

• 18:54Ashley Hesseltine?

You're right, you're right. And also then why get involved? That's what's the craziest part. Like, wait, what's going on? Why are they, why are you involving yourself?

• 19:01Rayna Greenberg?

I don't even get involved in my friends' marriages.

• 19:06Rayna Greenberg?

  Kind of our job.

• 19:08Ashley Hesseltine?

And I knew the media was going to focus on him saying fuck. And I was like, please don't focus on him saying fuck, because that's the coolest part about it.

• 19:13Rayna Greenberg?

Well, the whole, it actually was on, so I liked it, but the whole sentence was so funny. I don't know what the fuck is going on over there.

• 19:21Ashley Hesseltine?

But they did not mind my tweet. When I told them to ceasefire, they did not listen. This is crazy.

• 19:28Rayna Greenberg?

It is an urgent message and he put it on Truth Social. Like, what if they're doing summer Fridays there?

• 19:34Ashley Hesseltine?

Have the premier accounts, like what if they can't read the Truth? How do you even get on Truth Social?

• 19:38Rayna Greenberg?

Somebody emailed you and me the other day at like 3pm on a Friday and they said it was urgent. We were like, I, we can't be expected to read an email after 3pm in the summer. Like, what time does that go out?

• 19:48Ashley Hesseltine?

It's really so nuts. So that's what's happening. And the thing that we've been kind of like giggling about is just that this generation is too unserious to go to war.

• 19:57Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, they're talking about reinstating the draft, which I think we're pretty far from that actually happening. But I can't even, I can't comprehend of millennials and Gen Z people going to war. I mean, I need every creature comfort in the world. Like, I can't be somewhere, can you imagine being somewhere without air conditioning?

• 20:14Ashley Hesseltine?

  No.

• 20:14Rayna Greenberg?

  Grubhub?

• 20:16Ashley Hesseltine?

No, I just can't imagine them at war. Like, get ready with me to go to war.

• 20:19Rayna Greenberg?

We've been laughing about get ready with me to go to war.

• 20:21Ashley Hesseltine?

Get ready with me to go to war. Like, Gen Z could never. Like, they'd be in the trenches, like, doing TikTok dances. Like, they would be throwing grenades and be like, I got them.

• 20:31Rayna Greenberg?

  Find camo from Revolve.

• 20:33Ashley Hesseltine?

Seriously. I, I mean, it really is like a terrifying time. And I will say, just on a serious note, I feel like the people I follow the most that really give me a lot of clarity and understanding of what's happening and what could happen, even though everything is unprecedented. We have like this maniac at the helm, like Sharon Says So and Jessica Yellen. Like Sharon Says So is just like America's teacher and Jessica Yellen. And they kind of, everybody's like, are we going to war? I mean, I, when this happened, when he bombed Iran, I was like, whoa, this seems serious. And I was, I asked my fiance, like, do you think you'd, he has like, um, he was in a really bad car accident. He has some, some like metal in his arm, whatever. I said, do you, do you think you'd get, do you think you could not be in the draft because of your arm? Because, you know, like,

• 21:16Rayna Greenberg?

I don't know how old the draft goes.

• 21:17Ashley Hesseltine?

And he goes, Ashley, I think I'm aged out of it. And I was like, oh, right, right, right. Like, they would start young.

• 21:23Rayna Greenberg?

How, I mean, is he too old to be drafted? I actually, I don't know.

• 21:27Ashley Hesseltine?

It's been a while. Um, but I asked him, like, do you think you'd, you know, get out of it because your arm? He's like, I think I'd get out of it because I'm in my 30s.

• 21:34Rayna Greenberg?

  Maybe.

• 21:35Ashley Hesseltine?

  Maybe, who's to say?

• 21:36Rayna Greenberg?

You can't trust men of this generation to go to war. You can't trust them to do anything. You can barely get them to make plans. You think these guys are gonna, you can trust them at war?

• 21:46Ashley Hesseltine?

  Women could.

• 21:47Rayna Greenberg?

  Women could fight this.

• 21:48Ashley Hesseltine?

We're not gonna go, but if we went.

• 21:50Rayna Greenberg?

  Well, it's hot.

• 21:50Ashley Hesseltine?

We would look cute and we would have a plan.

• 21:52Rayna Greenberg?

I would have a whole fit.

• 21:53Ashley Hesseltine?

  Win this thing.

• 21:54Rayna Greenberg?

My war fit would be so cute.

• 21:55Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh my god, like us in our camo. And I have something for you. So a lot of people are saying, the, one of the tweets I've seen is, let's draft all the guys that have military time on their phone. I don't really think a lot of Trump supporters are using military time.

• 22:10Rayna Greenberg?

  It's too much math.

• 22:10Ashley Hesseltine?

  Too much math.

• 22:11Rayna Greenberg?

  It's too complicated for me.

• 22:12Ashley Hesseltine?

So I don't love that take.

• 22:13Rayna Greenberg?

  No.

• 22:14Ashley Hesseltine?

  Obviously MAGA hats go first.

• 22:15Rayna Greenberg?

But if you voted for him, you should have to go.

• 22:18Ashley Hesseltine?

You wanted this. And that data is readily available.

• 22:21Rayna Greenberg?

I didn't want him to be president.

• 22:22Ashley Hesseltine?

  Thanks to this administration.

• 22:23Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 22:23Ashley Hesseltine?

  All your data's out there.

• 22:24Rayna Greenberg?

I didn't really want him to be the president, so I shouldn't have to go.

• 22:27Ashley Hesseltine?

Didn't really? You're on the fence.

• 22:29Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, I wasn't sure. I wasn't sure before, but now I'm super sure.

• 22:34Rayna Greenberg?

  I'm extra sure now.

• 22:36Ashley Hesseltine?

As an undecided voter, I think it's safe to say, like, not so good.

• 22:39Rayna Greenberg?

Um, I was talking to my dad last night, because my dad was drafted into Vietnam and, right in 78, and he did not have to go because he's colorblind, so he got kind of like rejected. He got selected for the draft, but then rejected after like the physical. And I was talking to him about it. I was like, do you really think like men this generation could like go to war? And I actually thought, I, you know, every generation looks at the next one and is like, they're weak little bitches. My dad was like, no, like, we, we would have figured it out. They'll figure it out. And I was like, I don't think you've met a man in their twenties today.

• 23:06Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 23:06Rayna Greenberg?

  I don't think you're aware of what they're like.

• 23:08Ashley Hesseltine?

I know. I mean, it's a different time. It's like drones, not like muskets. You know, like, I think it's, the war times are different.

• 23:16Rayna Greenberg?

Oh, like digital, more digital stuff.

• 23:17Ashley Hesseltine?

It's just a different, I mean, you know.

• 23:19Rayna Greenberg?

I don't know how we do war.

• 23:20Ashley Hesseltine?

But, anyway, stay safe out there, you guys.

• 23:22Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, good luck. Anyways, let's talk about the boo-boos.

• 23:26Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay, yes, the boo-boos.

• 23:28Rayna Greenberg?

You and I are on different sides of the fence on this one, and I didn't, I didn't see it coming. I actually thought we would be on the opposite sides of the fence.

• 23:35Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay, so Labubus are these plush little stuffed animals. They're the range in size, because I think you can get like a keychain size and you can get like a full size. They're still small.

• 23:43Rayna Greenberg?

Keychains are still the size of a stuffed animal.

• 23:45Ashley Hesseltine?

They do look big. They're pretty big. They're not your average keychain. And they are from Popmart, right? That's the company that's like billions of dollars richer now because of it, out of China. And I don't have one yet.

• 23:58Rayna Greenberg?

I know you're upset about it.

• 23:59Ashley Hesseltine?

My fiance is the first one who told me about it. He's always breaking the news to me. He tells me, I'm like, I want one. And here we are. Still, I don't have one. I mean, my birthday is coming up.

• 24:07Rayna Greenberg?

It is financially obtainable for you, right? Like, they go up to a hundred bucks?

• 24:11Ashley Hesseltine?

I would like one as a gift.

• 24:12Rayna Greenberg?

You want it? You only like it if it's a gift?

• 24:13Ashley Hesseltine?

So he first saw it when Lisa from Blackpink really put them on the map for a lot of people. So Lisa from Blackpink, who was also in White Lotus, but one of the biggest pop stars internationally, she's a K-pop star. She had one. She's obsessed with them. And Rihanna was spotted with one. So if you're gonna come at me for wanting one, you're also coming at Rihanna. I think if Rihanna does anything, it's approved.

• 24:36Rayna Greenberg?

I, this is like the one thing, like, this is like, if you know, you know, like, I like being on that side of history. I liked choosing the thing that's like, kinda ugly that other people don't understand, because you wanna like, be different and cool. I just, this is like the one thing I can't get behind. It's so ugly.

• 24:50Ashley Hesseltine?

So, I can't explain it. I love it so much. Like, I love them so much. Like, so when you first saw it, your immediate thought was like, ew?

• 24:56Rayna Greenberg?

My immediate thought was, this is really tryhard, to just do something that looks so ugly. It's the size of a whole clutch. People are walking around with it clipped onto their clutches. It looks cumbersome to carry. It's so ugly.

• 25:09Ashley Hesseltine?

I just, I can't explain it. I'm, my immediate feeling when my fiance showed me this, when he showed me that Lisa was carrying one, he was like, have you heard of this Labubu? I didn't know they were popular. I, I mean, Lisa has one, whatever. But I was still like, I love it. And it's the way I felt when I first saw Gritty. And I think there's some similarities, so I wanted to talk about it. Because I think the reason why Gritty, when he's a newer mascot, the Philadelphia Flyers mascot, he was such an instant hit because of the way he looks. And he's like oddly scary, but like cute and cuddly. And I pulled, I Googled like, why do people love Gritty so much? And is as Gritty's design with his googly eyes, orange fur and unkempt beard was meant to be memorable and a bit unsettling,

• 25:52Ashley Hesseltine?

making him stand out from other more conventional mascots. Despite the intimidating appearance, Gritty also has a playful side. Like they, it's something about that look. They feel similar to me where you look at it, you're like, it's ugly. It's a little scary. I feel unsettled, but I want it.

• 26:09Rayna Greenberg?

  It's just, it's just, I guess I understood beanie babies. I understood.

• 26:13Ashley Hesseltine?

  I never got on board.

• 26:14Rayna Greenberg?

  I understand like gremlins.

• 26:15Ashley Hesseltine?

It's the face for me. Like it's the way they look. No, the La Boo Boo face. Like it's the way they look. I don't need a stuffed animal. I don't have a bunch of stuffed animals. I'm not a stuffed animal girl. Yeah. It reminds me of Azul. We'll talk about it probably for Monday's episode.

• 26:30Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 26:30Ashley Hesseltine?

What's happening with Azul's teeth? It might be like an R I P situation. No, we'll talk about it. I'm like upset about it.

• 26:37Rayna Greenberg?

Maybe because I had ugly teeth and I fixed it. I just can't get behind it. I like bag charms. I like, I do like a big bag charm, like a huge cherry bag charm. I love those.

• 26:46Ashley Hesseltine?

  Question for you.

• 26:47Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 26:47Ashley Hesseltine?

  Were you a troll girl?

• 26:49Rayna Greenberg?

  I had troll dolls.

• 26:50Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 26:50Rayna Greenberg?

I think people that got me, I wasn't obsessed with troll dolls, but people, people gave me troll dolls.

• 26:54Ashley Hesseltine?

  Earrings, pencil toppers.

• 26:57Rayna Greenberg?

I had the pencil toppers. Those were so lit.

• 26:59Ashley Hesseltine?

  Treasure trolls.

• 27:01Rayna Greenberg?

Wait, those are the ones with the little gem in the belly button? Oh, I love treasure trolls.

• 27:04Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, I had them with all kinds of outfits.

• 27:06Rayna Greenberg?

I loved the pencil toppers with the hair. Oh my God, made your pencil so lit.

• 27:09Ashley Hesseltine?

I had troll earrings, obviously from Claire's. It was a troll coming out of a pumpkin. I would wear that shit all of October.

• 27:17Rayna Greenberg?

You do have your La Boo Boo. Are there La Boo Boo earrings?

• 27:20Ashley Hesseltine?

I don't, I have no idea if I'm getting one for my birthday. Do you know?

• 27:23Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, I think you've asked for it a few times. You posted a whole Instagram story series about it. It would be crazy if he was like, I didn't know.

• 27:30Ashley Hesseltine?

No, he knows. The thing that made me post it was Jack Fanick from Lady Gang. She got one. Some company sent her one. And the thing is, is I'm not sure. I don't know every single detail of these, but they come in like a blind box. And you don't know which one you're getting. And I just want to say that I'm really open. I like a neutral color over like a pink, but I'll be fine with whatever.

• 27:51Rayna Greenberg?

Oh, if somebody gets you a La Boo Boo.

• 27:52Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. I like a creamy, the creamier colors.

• 27:55Rayna Greenberg?

You don't know what's gonna be in the box.

• 27:56Ashley Hesseltine?

I watched this girl unbox like four of them and I'm like, you can get like this variety pack. This girl was in her car and TikTok, she got like four. I'm like, that's hoarding.

• 28:04Rayna Greenberg?

  How do you pick?

• 28:05Ashley Hesseltine?

  Send me one.

• 28:06Rayna Greenberg?

But you just say like, you just give them your money and you get what you get.

• 28:09Ashley Hesseltine?

I don't know how people are getting them and maybe they are easier to get than I'm.

• 28:12Rayna Greenberg?

No, but I'm saying like you give them your money and they're like.

• 28:15Ashley Hesseltine?

  That's like the blind box.

• 28:16Rayna Greenberg?

  Who's to say?

• 28:17Ashley Hesseltine?

I'm not sure. Let us know in the comments.

• 28:20Rayna Greenberg?

I just, I wish I could get behind it. I just can't do it.

• 28:23Ashley Hesseltine?

  No, you don't need to.

• 28:23Rayna Greenberg?

I like some ugly shit and ugly dudes.

• 28:30Ashley Hesseltine?

  That one guy.

• 28:32Rayna Greenberg?

Which guy? The one that the girls at Run the Run O' Rave.

• 28:36Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 28:37Rayna Greenberg?

Um, that guy, that guy that I let take up a lot of my time that blew me off, he was pretty ugly and he had a stupid haircut.

• 28:45Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, we hate a stupid haircut.

• 28:46Rayna Greenberg?

He had a really bad haircut and the content he makes online is also really stupid. I am still in a one-sided beef with this guy.

• 28:54Rayna Greenberg?

He keeps responding to my Instagram stories like, oh, I'm just, I won't respond at all. I'm in a one-sided beef. He's like, I'm past this.

• 29:01Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 29:01Rayna Greenberg?

  You gotta get over it.

• 29:03Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, while you guys are shopping for Hello Boo Boo's, uh, you may find yourself on a Shopify site and you can have your own Shopify site. We want to talk about Shopify today. We absolutely love Shopify.

• 29:13Rayna Greenberg?

It has run our businesses, all of them for years. So when I met you and I had 100 drew my food blog, I wanted to sell merch and you explained to me how to do it. And that was my first entree into Shopify and ever since we have used that as a platform to, um, build our websites, see what our inventory looks like. Look at all of our reporting, um, on our phones because they have a great app and also.

• 29:37Ashley Hesseltine?

Little ching sound every time you go to sale.

• 29:39Rayna Greenberg?

  Sounds like money.

• 29:40Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 29:41Rayna Greenberg?

We run all of our sites on it. So Girls Can Eat Merch and Vibes Only is all run through Shopify and we've built our websites through it. They have great plugins. So like our merch company plugs right into Shopify. So it tracks the inventory for us and all the analytics are right there. The reports are fantastic. We know what our best sellers are and when to pivot and I just, I could not love this platform more. I, there's no way in the world we could have launched and run a business without it.

• 30:03Ashley Hesseltine?

I used it for our merch business so many, I mean 10. Years ago and like Raina said, that's I told her how to get started. I don't know any other way. I mean, we once had a merch company pitch us and they weren't on Shopify and we didn't work with them. Like we didn't understand what they were using. We were like, we don't trust it. Like they're so trustworthy. And again, we do merch for Girls Got to Eat and we do all of our vibes only products, but you can sell whatever. I mean, you know, within reason, nothing illegal, but you can send, set up any type of business and they make it so easy. And I mean, I remember one time I was doing pulling merch, like my shirts and my mugs were coming from somewhere different. And I got a plugin that was able to do the drop shipping. So I could sell from different suppliers. And again, like this stuff can sound really complicated, but once you get in there, it is so easy to use.

• 30:47Ashley Hesseltine?

Like I think of like me just in 2014, like setting this up, no one to help me and I just figured it out. And the app is so great, too.

• 30:54Rayna Greenberg?

We're just such experts in this today, but we had no background in this and building the website was so simple. And some people have like a really clear vision of exactly what they want their website to look like. And you can certainly build it on there, but they have hundreds of templates that you can just use with themes. It's easy to drop in whatever you want and manage it. You can add staff, you can manage shipping, payments. I just can't say, I don't know what we would do without it. I love it so much. And like, if you're thinking about launching a business today, no matter what it is you want to sell, like that is the GOAT of platforms to do it on.

• 31:28Ashley Hesseltine?

Totally. And they have great support. We've tapped their support plenty of times. There's a suite of AI tools that are going to allow you to spend less time wondering, more time doing. They have a Shopify sidekick, Axe, as your AI assistant. They'll guide you through everything. Again, the reports, I mean, you can do like abandoned cart emails, like when so many, most of the places you guys are shopping, probably use Shopify. I mean, so many of the world's businesses run on it and truly anybody can do it. And they have really all the tools are at your fingertips.

• 31:58Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, really. If you want to start, grow, scale a business, that's the place to do it on Shopify. And there's a million tools for you. We really hear from our listeners all the time, like I'm thinking about leaving my job. I want to know what the next step is. I want to know how to like grow my passion and like what is the first step? And Right after you figure out what that thing is, building a business is the next step and you need tools to do that. And really Shopify is the thing that's going to centralize this and make it the easiest for you and make it look beautiful and professional and give you every tool imaginable to start and grow a business so that you can turn your hobby and passion into a real profession.

• 32:34Ashley Hesseltine?

And summer, you can be running your business on Shopify at the pool on your phone.

• 32:39Rayna Greenberg?

  In Greece.

• 32:39Ashley Hesseltine?

I just remember when my merch business for Brosby Basic was like an all time high. I just remember like being in the Lenox Mall and just hear, I had my sound on that cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching. Like all our holiday merch was just flying. And I remember just sitting there in the mall and like sitting on one of the couches and just taking a beat and just being like, man, I'm really doing it. Like it felt like I'm like watching this money come in. I'm hearing it come in. Like the way that it felt like that was, you know, one of my really first forays into like any sort of running retail. And it just felt so great.

• 33:11Rayna Greenberg?

  Oh my God, the rush.

• 33:12Ashley Hesseltine?

  It's such a rush.

• 33:13Rayna Greenberg?

I used to sit at our Shopify on Black Friday every single year and just watch those orders just pour in. And my family would be like, can you hang out with us? And I'd be like, no, I want to watch us make money.

• 33:23Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. And they really, you know, there's all types of things. I mean, we're, we've had a little bit of a fraud issue recently. And so it's just like, they can work with you on the, there's the fraud protection aspect of running any type of business. And so it all just keeps it in one place, really simple, like monitor everything. So.

• 33:39Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, we love it. So this is your sign to start your journey as an entrepreneur. Head to Shopify.com slash GGE and see how easy it is to get started.

• 33:46Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay. So we just want to get into a little bit of what we're watching. We did this last week, but a lot of stuff going on.

• 33:52Rayna Greenberg?

Oh, this has been building inside of me. I'm so excited to talk to you about this. And you haven't watched it yet, but I spend all day on the couch on Sunday watching We Were Liars. And this is a new show on Amazon Prime. It is a summertime show set in New England about rich people, which is my favorite trope.

• 34:06Ashley Hesseltine?

Is that every piece of content these days? I mean, I'm also reading a book in Nantucket. Like it just feels like that's what people want.

• 34:12Rayna Greenberg?

Yes. It's that's what people want. Sad, angsty, rich people. And so the premise of the show is that it is this girl that spends summers in New England with her family. She wakes up on a beach. She's been very badly injured or blacked out. She's not sure what happened. And the show explores for eight episodes, like how she got there and what had happened. And it's told in from two perspectives, post accident, her trying to figure out what happened, and then flashbacks in the past. And it was. I, listen, I love the show and I posted that I was watching it and I got so many messages, so many people being like, I started it and I really loved it. It was great. The acting was great. It's almost all like new actors, unknown actors. Um, it is the most fucked up ending

• 34:53Rayna Greenberg?

of any show I have ever seen in my life. It has taken me days to process this. I-

• 34:59Ashley Hesseltine?

  More than Tell Me Lies?

• 35:01Rayna Greenberg?

Way more than Tell Me Lies.

• 35:02Ashley Hesseltine?

No, Raina, that's a bold claim.

• 35:04Rayna Greenberg?

  Way more.

• 35:05Ashley Hesseltine?

  More than Severance?

• 35:06Rayna Greenberg?

Yes, more than Severance. It, I was the head exploding emoji. I could not believe how they ended the series. I was, this author was like, what is the craziest way I could end this series? Make it three times worse. It, I talked to our friend last night, who's a therapist, I talked to Louisa last night and she was like, I'm still recovering-

• 35:25Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh my god.

• 35:26Rayna Greenberg?

-from the end of it. And, um, there, no, there's no trigger warning. It's not, it's not sexual assault and like that. So, um, I guess I am sort of making it sound like that. It's not that. But I'm still processing what happened here. I'm excited for people to watch it. I could not believe it. They just like slam you in the chest. I had to take a break halfway through the last episode. Louisa did too. We both were like, I took a break halfway through because I could not digest what was happening.

• 35:50Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 35:51Rayna Greenberg?

I loved it. I thought it was fantastic. It's a book series. It's a trilogy. So I'm gonna immediately, the second book is a prequel to the first book. So I'm going to immediately start it. I cannot, I like miss it already.

• 36:01Ashley Hesseltine?

  What's it on?

• 36:02Rayna Greenberg?

  It's on Amazon Prime.

• 36:03Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay. Well, I have a palate cleanser for that.

• 36:05Rayna Greenberg?

  Thank god. No, seriously.

• 36:06Ashley Hesseltine?

So this is stick and this is on Apple TV. It stars Owen Wilson and he is a former professional golfer and now he's like a golf club salesman. And it opens, he's like working, selling golf clubs. And then you kind of see like why he left the game and he was this like renowned golfer and he kind of had a meltdown and, uh, Marc Maron is in it. That's his friend. And then he kind of takes this young golfer under his wing and wants to coach him and take him on the road. And his, their family's involved in whatever. I love it. I didn't watch Ted Lasso. People have compared it to Ted Lasso. Uh, it is really feel good. And I don't know anything about golf, Raina, literally nothing. I just want to be clear. I don't know if there's a sport I know less about.

• 36:50Rayna Greenberg?

Golf and tennis for me. Yeah, nothing.

• 36:52Ashley Hesseltine?

But like I watch tennis and I played a little bit like golf. I got nothing. And so I'm enjoying it is my point. Like you do not have to know anything about golf or even enjoy it to enjoy the show. And we know one of the executive producers on it. He dates our good friend and we were at dinner with him the other night. And it's just so fun to talk to him. I met him for the first time last summer in Vancouver. They were there when I was there with my fiance on our vacation and that he was telling me about this show that he they were just filming it there.

• 37:22Rayna Greenberg?

Was he in the middle of filming Bridgerton at the time?

• 37:24Ashley Hesseltine?

No, he was filming there in Vancouver. Filming stick. Yeah.

• 37:27Rayna Greenberg?

  He also worked on Bridgerton.

• 37:28Ashley Hesseltine?

He worked on Bridgerton. He's just incredible. And so he was there filming it and telling me all about it. I was getting so excited. So I was so excited when it debuted and they have had different directors for each blocks of two episodes and his are airing now. This week was one of his last week was one of his and I'm just like obsessed with them and it's just a really great feel good show. I love Owen Wilson. I always have. He's like told us some tea about Owen Wilson and honestly just what a great guy is like just all good stuff. And it's just great. So.

• 37:59Rayna Greenberg?

I'm glad. Listen, I needed a plow. You need this so bad after that show. I watched tires. I finished watching tires, which made me really laugh, but.

• 38:07Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, and then Judy Greer is in it too. And she's Owen Wilson's ex wife and our friend who is a producer on the show. He really wanted her to star in something because she's not a starring role. She's always the friend. Yeah, she's always a supporting actress. So Judy Greer is great in it and I really love that. You guys, it's a feel good show. And again, that's on Apple and I have a really fun comedy special for you guys. So this is our friend Avery Pearson and it's called Give It Up Avery Pearson. That's the name of the special. And they're calling it the greatest concert of comedy songs of all time ever. And he's a musical artist. He does the jam, the goddamn comedy jam that we do. And he's also a comedian. He runs shows around town. He's just like a really wonderful guy.

• 38:50Ashley Hesseltine?

And he put out this special. It's on Veeps. I'm going to tell you guys how to access it, but I'm going to tell you some of the people that are in the special. So again, it's like a comedy concert of sorts. It has him.

• 39:02Ashley Hesseltine?

Jay Pharoah, Adam Ray, Beth Stelling, Josh Adam Myers, and just a bunch of different comedians. And there's some really funny songs. I want to play like a tiny little snippet of one of these songs. It's called Finger Blasting Women.

• 39:12Rayna Greenberg?

  Okay.

• 39:13Ashley Hesseltine?

So I'll play it for you guys.

• 39:14Speaker 02

  I play piano.

• 39:16Speaker 03

  And I play ukulele.

• 39:18Speaker 02

  I'm a straight white guy.

• 39:20Speaker 03

  And I'm a gay lady.

• 39:22Speaker 02

  I'm super careful.

• 39:23Speaker 03

  I'm impulsive and reckless.

• 39:25Speaker 02

  I don't eat meat.

• 39:27Speaker 03

I had a cheeseburger for breakfast.

• 39:29Speaker 02

  The thing that unites us.

• 39:31Speaker 03

  And all is forgiven.

• 39:32Speaker 02

Despite where we're different, we both like Finger Blasting Women. Finger blasting.

• 39:49Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay, so that's a sample. It's edgy, it's spicy, and I just wanted to recommend that. So you guys can go to veeps/events/giveitup to get the special, and you'll sign in there. So again, that's veeps/events/giveitup.

• 40:04Rayna Greenberg?

I have two more recs. You guys haven't watched them yet because they're not out yet. So the ultimatum, Queer Love, comes out as it airs. It will be yesterday, so that's on Netflix. Actually, I love The Ultimatum. I cannot get enough of it. It's pretty much every summer. I love it so much. This is a queer love version. And then on July 1st, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion, which Nick Viall is hosting. I'm so excited. I listened to like all of his interviews with the girls when they were in town. He just like has his finger on the pulse of this, and I'm so obsessed with that show. And like, I gotta know like what happened with Marciano and like Italy and with Jessie and her husband. I just like need all the tea. I'm so, so, so obsessed with that show. So we'll talk about it after, but that's on the first.

• 40:42Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay, great. So those are the recs for you guys. And we're watching America's Sweethearts, of course. Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, but we'll leave that. We have a headline about it, so we will.

• 40:50Rayna Greenberg?

Are you still out on And Just Like This?

• 40:53Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah, I'm not watching it.

• 40:54Rayna Greenberg?

  You're fully out.

• 40:55Ashley Hesseltine?

I really, and just like that, I really and just like this. I, I really like, don't want to watch it.

• 41:04Rayna Greenberg?

Okay, so I saw this thing. I was wondering if you saw this episode. I saw a clip and I don't know which episode it's from. Miranda is going on and on. She's like, I can't watch it. It's so stupid. The dialogue is terrible.

• 41:16Ashley Hesseltine?

She's talking about like a dating reality show about bisexual people, but it's very funny because it's like, are they on to us? Like it said, like I've, she says, like, I've experienced the joy of hate watching. This show makes me dumber the more I watch it. And I was just like, is the dumb show in the room with us? You know, like this is, hello.

• 41:34Rayna Greenberg?

It's so funny. She's like doing a monologue about that show.

• 41:37Ashley Hesseltine?

But it's, you know, I was wondering myself, I was like, am I going to be tempted to watch it? I couldn't help but wonder, am I going to be tempted to watch it? Did I say I'm quitting and I'm lying to myself? No.

• 41:48Rayna Greenberg?

Like I do every year with like for Housewives.

• 41:50Ashley Hesseltine?

I even saw the Evan Ross Katz, like meme recaps and was like, I don't want to watch it. It genuinely makes me mad. And I, you know, I'm trying to just like have less anger in my life. And so I'm not, I'm still out.

• 42:03Rayna Greenberg?

  Okay, great.

• 42:03Ashley Hesseltine?

Check in every week. I'll be honest.

• 42:05Rayna Greenberg?

  I'll ask.

I love it. We've both gotten stuff from there. I have my engagement rings ruby, so I have ruby earrings and a ruby necklace. I always get compliments on them. They're really different. And like the one ruby necklace is really dainty. I'd love to layer it with other necklaces and the earrings. Like they're a hoop and they have a little ruby on them and I'll hang them from my second hole. And it's so funny because I just got a friend a text from our friend Merrill and she said, Hey, this is Random, but a couple of friend of mine, two guys, they're looking for cool, reasonable, but stylish wedding bands for men. Do you have brands you recommend? Like, I'm literally gonna tell her.

• 46:12Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay, headlines.

• 46:13Rayna Greenberg?

  Lot of headlines this week.

• 46:14Ashley Hesseltine?

  Lots going on.

• 46:15Rayna Greenberg?

So Jeff Bezos is getting married in Venice and people are upset.

• 46:22Ashley Hesseltine?

Can you imagine being so hated that a whole city is like, we don't want your wedding here? It's giving J D Vance energy.

• 46:28Rayna Greenberg?

  So there's a grasp.

• 46:29Ashley Hesseltine?

We don't want you. You can't sit with us.

• 46:31Rayna Greenberg?

There's a grassroots effort. It's called No Space for Bezos. And they don't want it there for a lot of reasons. So this is gonna be a $10 million wedding.

• 46:40Ashley Hesseltine?

  That's it?

• 46:44Rayna Greenberg?

  It's a three-day, $10 million wedding.

• 46:46Ashley Hesseltine?

I guess it's like some, it's, uh, right now, you know, I said that just because of like how rich he is, but also like, what else could you spend money on at some point? Like, that's pretty high.

• 46:57Rayna Greenberg?

I don't know. You could, you could do more.

• 46:59Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 47:00Rayna Greenberg?

10 million. I mean, you, why don't you, why not have Taylor Swift perform?

• 47:04Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, right, performers, right. Who performed at the Ambani?

• 47:09Rayna Greenberg?

  I don't know.

• 47:09Ashley Hesseltine?

Rihanna performed at one of the events for the Ambani wedding, but I can't remember who actually performed at the, um, remember that last summer, that, that like insane wedding?

• 47:18Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, you could have more performers. I mean, that's pretty much what you could do.

• 47:21Ashley Hesseltine?

That's great. You're right. That's where the money should go. What a cheap wedding.

• 47:24Rayna Greenberg?

I know. It's just like really run-of-the-mill to me. Um, there's a number of things that they're saying that they're upset about. It's not just Jeff Bezos. It's urban strain, housing and services. They're just saying like the environmental impact of having all these people here, but it's a small wedding. It's 200 people.

• 47:39Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 47:39Rayna Greenberg?

So it's not like they're flooding Venice with all these people. Venice is already overrun with tourists. I've never been there and been able to like move at all.

• 47:47Ashley Hesseltine?

To do it now feels crazy. To do it at this time, that's a peak of tourism anyway. Like, why would you not do this in May or in the fall? Because again, it already is so overrun with tourists and it's really crowded. So like, and especially, you know, the mayor, Luigi, Mayor Luigi, he is saying it will have a multimillion dollar impact on the city's economy.

• 48:09Rayna Greenberg?

  A positive one.

• 48:10Ashley Hesseltine?

And a positive. That's what I'm saying. So there's kind of two camps. They're using all these Venetian vendors, but do it in the off season. That's like, doing this during peak season does feel like it's a little much. And so people are saying, yes, some people obviously hate him and Amazon and everything that he stands for and the oligarchy of it all, but it's also just over tourism and anti-capitalism is what people are saying. So there's definitely a couple of different reasons people are protesting, but it says that they moved it. So this was, this was a couple of hours ago. This says, "The wedding has been moved to an isolated, less accessible part of the lagoon city on security concerns and to prevent the risk of protests." So, so many people are protesting it that they're like, "We gotta move it."

• 48:49Rayna Greenberg?

But like, Venice is so little. Like, where are you moving it? Like, it's either in Venice or not. It's so tiny.

• 48:54Ashley Hesseltine?

Did you see that, like, landing? Like, people painted this, like, sign on the ground that they would see when they land. Like, people are really out here. This says Jeff Bezos is getting married in Venice and look how he was greeted. And so people put this massive sign, "If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax."

• 49:13Ashley Hesseltine?

Love it. We'll put it on the screen. Hell yeah. But only 10 million. I mean, whoa, they're really... It's a second wife.

• 49:20Rayna Greenberg?

Maybe he's hurting. She's been married before, right? She has a bunch of kids. She's been married?

• 49:24Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh, Lauren. Oh, Lauren.

• 49:25Rayna Greenberg?

This feels like cheap to me.

• 49:28Ashley Hesseltine?

  Maybe it's because it's a second wedding.

• 49:29Rayna Greenberg?

  No, whatever. He's a bazillionaire.

• 49:34Ashley Hesseltine?

Who cares? Okay. Karen Reed acquitted.

• 49:39Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, I felt like I was personally invested in this, like my girl got acquitted. So basically Karen Reed, the trial was whether or not she accidentally on purpose murdered her police officer boyfriend.

• 49:52Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, we've talked about this at length. You guys should go back and listen. It was, what, a month ago? Raina had an amazing impression of one of these cops and you guys can watch the documentary Body in the Snow on HBO. But really just we wanted to give the headline that if you've been following it, she was found not guilty in the death of her police officer boyfriend. She was found guilty of DUI, which she did admit to.

• 50:15Rayna Greenberg?

She was like, I already said that.

• 50:16Ashley Hesseltine?

I had been 14 drinks and got in the car.

• 50:18Rayna Greenberg?

She was like, I don't even remember driving home. She was, so the first trial ended with a mistrial.

• 50:24Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yes.

• 50:24Rayna Greenberg?

I literally cannot believe the waste on resources to retry this woman for something she so clearly did not do. And by the way, will we ever find out who did it?

• 50:36Ashley Hesseltine?

  Right.

• 50:36Rayna Greenberg?

  They're just gonna drop this?

• 50:38Ashley Hesseltine?

Right. That's, I know, like, justice for John, hello?

• 50:41Rayna Greenberg?

  That's it.

• 50:41Ashley Hesseltine?

I love this one tweet. It says, "Don't know if people outside the Northeast were following this, but some cops killed their friend, then tried to pin it on his girlfriend, but kept sending each other texts like, hey, don't forget to drop that fake evidence later, and Googling how long for a dead body to stop bleeding. A-plus work." Insanity.

• 50:56Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, that is really what it comes down to. I mean, all these police officers that lived inside that home clearly killed him or accidentally killed him, right? The dog attacked him.

• 51:07Ashley Hesseltine?

  I don't know.

• 51:07Rayna Greenberg?

  It was hard to say.

• 51:08Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, of course, the dog attacked him. He had injuries that he clearly had been beat up. Who knows what went down inside the house, but the fact that she was ever tried in the first place and framed, so.

• 51:18Rayna Greenberg?

And then retried, which, I mean, what a disgusting waste of resources, but love to see that she's been acquitted.

• 51:24Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, and she's a star now.

• 51:25Rayna Greenberg?

Do you think she's gonna fuck the head of the legal team? Is that guy married?

• 51:29Ashley Hesseltine?

I'd be curious, because her legal team was hot.

• 51:30Rayna Greenberg?

  That guy was cute.

• 51:32Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, yeah, they had a vibe.

• 51:32Rayna Greenberg?

And he, like, got her acquitted?

• 51:35Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, what a meat cute. Okay, so DCC, they're getting paid more.

• 51:40Rayna Greenberg?

So we finish it, loved it, it was amazing. And then they, basically this season, like we said last week, there's a real through line of how much they get paid and how they get treated. And they really focus on the lives of these women. And it was a really, like, a lot of bravery from these women, the three head captains of the. Squad were negotiating with the team and they weren't sure if they were going to get this raise and so they've gotten a 400% raise and it was it came out what these women were being paid. I mean, the Cowboys are an $11 billion industry and these girls were getting paid $15 an hour, sometimes as little as $200 a game and they got a 400% increase to $75 an hour. These girls sometimes have to like go every night of the week, 7pm until like

• 52:24Rayna Greenberg?

11pm at practice on top of a full-time job.

• 52:26Ashley Hesseltine?

On top of a full-time job and then they have to do full glam for practice. We've talked about this during season one and we just at least wanted to update this, but what does this mean for the rest of the league? I mean, I know that they're the most famous cheerleaders and there's a Netflix show about them, but did this change across the board? Why wouldn't it? Like, and a lot of teams have gotten rid of their cheerleaders. But like the Steelers don't have any, the Eagles do, just as examples, but like, are they getting paid more? Like, is this industry-wide? So I'm glad that they are. It's still not enough, but that was my main question. So maybe I can do some more research, but I think this was just like, this is a step in the right direction.

• 53:06Rayna Greenberg?

I just, I think that these women really did a really, really brave thing. I felt really emotional watching them. These are women of color also fighting against this industry and to basically go up against these people that do employ them and facilitate them living their dreams, of course, but to still say like, they even knew that they weren't going to get the raise, the next team would get the raise because it wasn't for these girls, it was for the next incoming team.

• 53:28Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah, right.

• 53:29Rayna Greenberg?

They did not film the meetings of what went on, but it did not feel as though the coaches were necessarily on their sides. And if they were, they weren't interviewed saying those things. They probably couldn't be.

• 53:39Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, it's just like, it's no, it's nothing to pay them more within these organizations, all of them, not just the Cowboys.

• 53:48Rayna Greenberg?

And the first season, they even said that like, if DCC functions as its own organization, I mean, it brings in a huge amount of revenue to the team. And so do a lot of these squads, even if the team is bad that year, so the Cowboys were really bad during this 2024 season, that the DCC cheerleaders kept getting booked for all these appearances. I mean, they're an entity all on their own and deserve to be paid as such.

• 54:10Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. And then the appearance fee is another thing, too, like on top of their practice and the games and stuff like that. So we'd love to see it or hopefully this sets a precedent for the rest of the league. And then lastly, Beyonce. Beyonce was in Paris. She brought out Miley Cyrus and Jay-Z.

• 54:29Ashley Hesseltine?

And I agree, America doesn't deserve it.

• 54:32Rayna Greenberg?

Taylor Swift knew it too. She was like Travis, an American football player. It's only coming out in London.

• 54:37Ashley Hesseltine?

I respect it. We don't deserve it. We do not deserve it. LA deserved it. LA, we're on the right side of history out here. But no, Jay-Z came out. He performed his song about Paris. I'm not gonna say it. Miley was there the night before. The outfits, the looks, the London looks, the Paris looks. I mean, I love to see it. And you know, I just have to go back to people like doubting this tour. Like, oh, it's not selling as well. Like Beyonce's, you know, her moments over the, oh, okay. She's breaking records. She's crushing it. She's doing all the stadiums. She's doing all the things.

I do, I wonder if people just compared it to Taylor Swift and you're talking about the biggest tour and the history of the world. Nothing could ever compare to that. This is like right under that.

• 55:17Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 55:18Rayna Greenberg?

I do, I just, I find it really fascinating that these like American artists with American partners have only chosen to have these like really iconic moments outside of the country.

  I don't know if they're, if it's purposeful, but I support it.

• 55:32Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, it feels kind of purposeful. Yeah. Like Travis Kelce was just hanging out in London on a Sunday night on the stage. Like, how did that happen? And Jay-Z is just in Paris. Like, I just, I find it wild. These are American citizens. And they were like, don't give it to the American people.
