• 1:42Speaker 04

Hey Devon, welcome to Conan O'Brien Needs a Fan.

• 1:45Conan O'Brien?

  Hey Devon, how are you?

• 1:48Speaker 04

  I'm good, how are you?

• 1:49Conan O'Brien?

  Well, you don't-

• 1:50Speaker 04

This is- I'm sorry, this is crazy.

• 1:53Conan O'Brien?

Well, um, I think it's crazy that your shirt matches your background exactly. Because you look like a floating head right now. It's cool. It's very cool. You have a good look going for you. Thank you. Yeah, Devon, um, there's so much we need to talk about. But the first thing I need to understand is, where are you coming from right now? I have no idea where you are in the world.

• 2:15Speaker 04

Um, so I'm from Calgary, Alberta in Canada.

• 2:17Conan O'Brien?

  Oh.

• 2:18Speaker 04

I originally was from Edmonton, but yeah, I'm in Calgary now.

• 2:22Conan O'Brien?

Okay, so you, you live in Calgary and what's the temperature where you are right now?

• 2:26Speaker 04

Uh, it's unseasonably warm. It's about five degrees Celsius. So, um, yeah.

• 2:31Conan O'Brien?

That always still sounds cold when you do Celsius. Doesn't it sound like, oh, it's real hard. It's five degrees. What is that in American temperature? Yeah, we like everything done the American way since we're soon to buy your country, you know.

• 2:44Speaker 04

I've never figured out the, uh, the conversion there, so I, your guess would be as good as mine.

• 2:50Conan O'Brien?

  So it's 41 degrees. Okay.

• 2:52Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 2:53Conan O'Brien?

  Did you call it Calgary?

• 2:55Speaker 04

Yeah, so I, I'm not originally from here, so I call it Calgary. I'm supposed to call it Calgary, but.

• 3:01Conan O'Brien?

You know what I say, Devon? Stick to your guns.

• 3:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 3:03Speaker 04

Yeah, the locals don't really know what they're talking about, I don't think, so.

• 3:07Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. Hey, uh, I'm gonna say this, Devon, and I, I'm, I'm, this is a compliment. You look yoked. Doesn't he look like a?

• 3:16Speaker 01

  Do you lift?

• 3:17Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, I mean, you look, uh, what's it where the kid, swole? Is that what the kids say?

• 3:21Speaker 01

  Yoked, yeah.

• 3:23Conan O'Brien?

  You look, uh, incredible.

• 3:25Speaker 04

I should have worn my shirt that says yoked. It would have been way better.

• 3:30Conan O'Brien?

Guess what, pal? You don't have to. Cause you've got the muscles to prove it. Your muscles have muscles. It's out of control. What's going on here? Tell us a lot. Do you lift every day? What's the story?

• 3:42Speaker 04

Uh, yeah, I do work out quite often. Um, I've been training for,

• 3:48Speaker 04

I mean, how old am I now? I'm almost 33, so since I was like 16.

• 3:52Conan O'Brien?

  Wow.

• 3:53Speaker 04

  So, yeah.

• 3:54Conan O'Brien?

I started working out when I was 55.

• 3:59Conan O'Brien?

And I'm still on very lightweight.

• 4:02Speaker 04

  You'll get there.

• 4:03Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, no, and I'm in my seventies. I'm gonna move up to the old twenty pounder. You'll get there.

• 4:10Conan O'Brien?

You're a very nice guy, Devon. You'll get there. By the time you're in your nineties, you'll be okay.

• 4:16Conan O'Brien?

Well, are you a professional athlete in any way?

• 4:20Speaker 04

I'm not a professional. I would, I would make that

• 4:25Speaker 04

clear for sure. But I, I did, I did compete in bobsleigh last year for our Canadian national team.

• 4:32Conan O'Brien?

  Oh, you're kidding. You're, so you are a, I mean, you're a serious bobsledder.

• 4:37Speaker 04

I, I would call it former because I'm not doing it this year, but last year I did do it. It was my first year and yeah, it was, I was on the World Cup team.

• 4:47Conan O'Brien?

  Wow.

• 4:48Speaker 04

I think when I, when I sent the email last year, I could be wrong. I, I sent applications a few times to you guys, but when I made the team, I was like, I'm gonna send it and hopefully Conan will want to talk to me now. And I might have been in Europe right when I sent it.

• 5:03Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, but let me tell you something, Devon. If I was on a bobsled for two seconds, I would spend the rest of my life telling people that I was, I was a bobsledder. That's just me. You're being way too modest. It sounds like, I mean, this is serious stuff. You have competed at, at a top level.

• 5:19Speaker 04

Yeah, I was very, I would, I say lucky. I was also just very fortunate to be in good positions. I put myself there and put myself out there last year and was able to just find my way into one of our top sleds last year and somehow ended up over there. It was, I just took a shot at it, so.

• 5:39Conan O'Brien?

I don't know. We've all seen the images of bobsledding. But I don't know much about it. I know there's a couple of, a couple of you are crammed into a bobsled. How many?

• 5:49Speaker 04

So it's either two or four. Four, it gets real cozy in there, but it's nice. You're, you're with your buddies kind of going down.

• 5:57Conan O'Brien?

Well, and if they're not your buddies, they become your buddies real fast.

• 6:00Speaker 04

  Yeah, they do, for sure.

• 6:01Conan O'Brien?

So you are, you are interlocked with these, there's four of you and you're on this sled that's like a rocket. And how fast do you go at times?

• 6:12Speaker 04

A hundred and fifty kilometers an hour.

• 6:14Conan O'Brien?

Damn it, you and your metric system. I don't know. Is that, I mean, that could be eleven miles an hour for all I know. I'm sorry, I'm very ignorant. I want a hundred and fifty.

• 6:23Speaker 04

My cat can run a hundred and fifty kilometers an hour.

• 6:26Speaker 05

  Ninety-three miles.

• 6:27Conan O'Brien?

Wait, ninety-three miles an hour? And what is that in kilometers? Yeah, stop it. What? I just got us off of that. Okay, alright. Um, wait a minute, so ninety-three miles an hour on a bob sled? I, I, I don't understand, what happens if you crash?

• 6:44Speaker 04

Uh, you hang on for dear life. Cause there's no seatbelts.

• 6:47Conan O'Brien?

Have you, have you, do you fall out? What happens?

• 6:50Speaker 04

You can. If you don't hang on, you will fall out. Yeah, like it, it's kinda, my first crash, I learned it real quick. Um, I was doing a two man, so it doesn't go quite as fast. It gets to, I don't know what it is in miles per hour, but it gets to like a hundred and forty-ish kilometers an hour and we crashed probably at the fastest point on the track in Whistler. And you feel it right away. It's like trying to kick you out. It's like, almost like a bull just trying to kick you off. So you have to like grab on to the frame and pull yourself back in and just try and stay in. The other thing is if you let yourself come out, you're usually scraping on ice. There's walls, so you might hit them. You're trying to get as low into the sled so that the sled takes it and not your body.

• 7:34Conan O'Brien?

But wait a minute, are you wearing any protection?

• 7:36Speaker 04

There's a helmet and then we have what is called a burn vest. So to prevent any ice burn from like skidding on it, you have this like Kevlar vest, but other than that, it's just a speed suit.

• 7:48Conan O'Brien?

Oh, okay, okay. I don't understand, I don't understand how you're not killed. I, I'm being serious. I don't understand how, if someone threw me at ninety-three miles an hour onto ice and I was just wearing a skintight suit, um, which wouldn't look great by the way, um, and a helmet, um, there'd be an immediate funeral. Just an immediate, no one, a doctor wouldn't even check on me. They would just, they would just put me in a box and have a funeral. You would just slide down the track into a crowd of people dressed in black. Yeah, we would all wait. The coffin would be opened at one end and I'd slide right in. And it say, well, there he goes. Put me down. So, I mean, have you ever been seriously hurt?

• 8:29Speaker 04

I haven't. There's been, I've been really fortunate. Our crashes, uh, one was, one looked violent. It wasn't that bad in it, but it looked really bad. Just because you're about halfway down, we crashed, we tipped over. And as you're going through all these turns going down, the sled's just doing its own thing. No one's controlling it. So when it goes up on a turn, it comes back down like as if it's coming down on your head. You can kind of feel it, but you're just hanging on. Again, you're with your buddies, so you're kind of like hanging on like, okay, let's hope we all don't fall out and get hurt here, but uh.

• 9:07Conan O'Brien?

That's a pretty low key conversation you guys are having. You're, it's 93 miles an hour, you're soaring through an ice tunnel out of control.

• 9:18Conan O'Brien?

Kind of hope we don't get hurt here.

• 9:21Conan O'Brien?

Is one of you reading the paper? Oh, look. Says you're the Oilers are in town.

• 9:27Speaker 04

Our, uh, I think like the last crash that we had, I, I was thinking like, my first thought was like, because it was our first four man on the World Cup together. And I'd like told my family all back home, like this is where you can watch it. Make sure you tune in. It's at this time. And like first thing I was like, oh man, my mom is watching this and she's not gonna like this sport anymore. Just because that's all I was thinking the whole time. I'm like, oh man. I need this to like end so I can pop out and just like give her a thumbs up.

• 9:56Conan O'Brien?

Show her that you're all right. Quick question, is there, my instinct would be, I would want to be like the third person in a four person. Because if something went wrong, I would try to use the bodies in front and behind me. Buffer. As a, as a buffer, as a shield. Is that, is, is, does that a, a sign of low character on my part? Like I would, I would try to be positioned behind you so that I could steer you towards the ice and the rocks. Because, and your body is, I'm just being honest.

• 10:27Speaker 05

  Your legs are too long.

• 10:29Conan O'Brien?

  What?

• 10:29Speaker 05

  Your legs are too long.

• 10:31Conan O'Brien?

Well, I think the minute the crash starts, my legs would fall off.

• 10:36Conan O'Brien?

They'd say, oh, look, two, two strands of denim spaghetti just fell out the back of the. Excuse me, you're wearing denim during this? I'm wearing denim, yeah. I'm not button on this goddamn kevlar. What do I look like? I'm a man, see? A pure Canadian tuxedo. Yeah, exactly. So I'm just being honest with you. I would try to use your body to absorb all the punishment.

• 10:56Speaker 04

Well, I was always, I was the third guy. So when you load, you have like a routine.

• 11:00Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 11:01Speaker 04

I was the third guy and, I mean, in the crash, I, my, your instinct is to get as low as possible into the sled. So, yeah, in fairness, I am trying to get lower than everyone else in that sled.

• 11:13Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. You know what I would do? I would, I would build a little trap door in the sled so that I, there's like, and some steps. So I could go downstairs into a tiny little room and read a novel during the crash.

• 11:24Speaker 01

  How big is your bobsled?

• 11:27Conan O'Brien?

It's a bigger bobsled, yes. It's less aerodynamic. But at my insistence, it has, when the crash starts, excuse me, gents. And I open a little door and then you hear footsteps going down some steps and then I shut it. It's a little cocoa and I read the third Harry Potter. I think it's Harry Potter and the, the stone that's made of bones. And, uh, I'm in there with a little sweater and stuff and there's a little fireplace.

• 11:50Speaker 01

No one's gonna wanna be on your team.

• 11:52Conan O'Brien?

You don't know about bobsledding like I do.

• 11:53Speaker 04

Your bobsled sounds more like, uh, one of those big, like, tall vans. It's gonna tip over all the time.

• 11:58Conan O'Brien?

Oh, okay. So suddenly you're, oh, so suddenly you're the expert, Devon. I think I know a little more about bobsledding than you do, having spoken to you and seen a photograph.

• 12:16Conan O'Brien?

You know, winning an award, that's a big achievement, right?

• 12:19Speaker 01

  Yeah, I love awards.

• 12:19Conan O'Brien?

Every now and then in life, maybe something nice like that comes your way. Winning them consistently is almost impossible. It just doesn't happen, you know? Well, guess what? Winning five times in six years? You know what that sounds like to me? Sustained excellence.

• 12:33Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 12:34Conan O'Brien?

I drive a Hyundai Palisade and I love my car. I love it. I love driving it around.

• 12:47Conan O'Brien?

• 13:42Conan O'Brien?

Your name represents everything you've built, okay? Everything, like, I feel that way about my name.

• 13:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 13:46Conan O'Brien?

It stands for all of the work, good and not so good, in my life. But guess what? Your children's names represent their whole futures.

• 13:55Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 13:55Conan O'Brien?

Your children haven't even started building their futures, but their identities are already valuable. Your child's clean credit history can make them a target for identity thieves. Never thought of it that way, but it's true. Identity thieves can open loans and credit cards using your child's social security number, racking up debt and ruining their credit, and you may not notice until they try and get their first credit card. So it could be a long time.

• 14:17Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 14:18Conan O'Brien?

Well, guess what? With LifeLock, you can add family members to your plan, giving you the power to block identity threats targeting your children. Now, Sony, your kids are pretty young still.

• 14:57Conan O'Brien?

This fall, I want to try something different.

• 14:59Speaker 01

  What?

• 15:00Conan O'Brien?

I like to change it up. I like to learn things. So I'm going to try and make apple cider.

• 15:03Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 15:03Conan O'Brien?

  Every morning.

• 15:04Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 15:05Conan O'Brien?

This fall, just to see if I can do it.

• 15:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:07Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, fall's the perfect season to try something new, like joining T-Mobile.

• 15:11Speaker 01

  Oh, that's good.

• 15:12Conan O'Brien?

  See what I did?

• 15:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:13Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, there are 250 reasons to join T-Mobile right now. You want to hear what they are?

• 15:17Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:17Conan O'Brien?

  They're America's best network.

• 15:18Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 15:19Conan O'Brien?

True story. Plus, T-Mobile has got off-grid satellite coverage. That comes in really handy. I like to just wander in the woods sometimes.

• 15:26Speaker 01

  Oh, that's weird.

• 15:27Conan O'Brien?

When I'm thinking about, like, making apple cider.

• 15:28Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 15:29Conan O'Brien?

And that's when it comes in handy. Here's another reason. High-speed data in over 215 countries and destinations. I travel a lot for the-

• 15:36Speaker 01

  You travel a lot.

• 15:36Conan O'Brien?

  -travel show that I do.

• 15:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:38Conan O'Brien?

Stream this podcast while ignoring local landmarks. That's always fun to do. Like, oh, look, there's the Mona Lisa. Yeah, check it out. I'm in the Louvre. I should, but I'm listening to Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend.

• 15:48Speaker 01

That doesn't seem like a good idea.

• 15:49Conan O'Brien?

  I think it's a great idea.

• 15:50Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 15:51Conan O'Brien?

You know, you can see art anytime. But how often can you listen to this podcast?

• 15:56Speaker 01

  Oh, my god.

• 15:57Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 15:57Speaker 01

  What?

• 15:58Conan O'Brien?

No, all these reasons make T-Mobile a great choice.

• 16:01Speaker 01

  I agree.

• 16:01Conan O'Brien?

T-Mobile is stacking up reasons to join. Go to tmobile.com and find yours best, based on analysis by Ookla of speed test intelligence data first half of 2026. Can't believe I read that. T-satellite with capable devices in most outdoor areas in the US, where you can see the sky. High-speed international data with qualifying plan. Visit tmobile.com, consult a physician. I just threw that in there.

• 16:25Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 16:30Conan O'Brien?

So now, you have to admit, the holidays, it's really about hanging with the people you love.

• 16:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:36Conan O'Brien?

And getting to be yourself. Not going to some stuffy holiday party where you need to conform to what the man wants you to think about the holidays.

• 16:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:45Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, it's about being yourself. Turn your holiday time into Miller time by enjoying a Miller Lite in a place where you're free to enjoy yourself on a walk with a cousin. With a cousin? Why are they getting all specific about it?

• 16:56Speaker 01

  Because it's family.

• 16:57Conan O'Brien?

But what about a niece or a nephew?

• 16:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 17:01Conan O'Brien?

Like a walk with an ex-wife. I don't know. I mean, they're just throwing, that's a weird, they just made a very specific choice.

• 17:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 17:08Conan O'Brien?

Now's the time for those unexpected holiday side guests and enjoy a great tasting light beer. 'Tis Miller time, as Dickens wrote. Miller Lite is brewed for taste, the taste you can depend on. The original light beer since 1975 and still iconic more than 50 years later. I like to be with my bros, my chums, my posse, crack open a Miller Lite, take a swig, a sip, look around and see my friends. We've known each other forever and we're just hanging out.

• 17:35Speaker 01

Yeah, you guys are just doing chest bumps and high-fiving.

• 17:38Conan O'Brien?

Miller Lite is great taste done right. Go to millerlite.com/conan to find delivery options near you, or you can pick up some Miller Lite pretty much anywhere they sell beer. 'Tis Miller time. Celebrate responsibly. Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 96 calories and 3.2 carbs per 12 ounces.

• 18:00Conan O'Brien?

Now, what's the economics behind bob sledding? How do you guys, do you need sponsorships? Do you, who's funding this? Does the Canadian government step in and throw some loonies at it? See what I did right there?

• 18:14Speaker 04

That was a good reference. That was a good Canadian reference.

• 18:16Conan O'Brien?

You know, I've been around. I've stayed at Martin Short's, uh, be, uh, lake cottage. That's where I know all these stuff. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He's always saying, "You have any loonies on you, Conan?" So that's where I picked it up.

• 18:28Speaker 04

Yeah, so a lot of Olympic sports are pretty underfunded. Bob sleigh is certainly no different. Um, the, we do get some support, of course, and we are obviously very grateful for it. And, and any support that the teams do get, uh, yeah, like, we're happy about it. But usually, especially the last few years, it's been self-funded. Um,

• 18:49Conan O'Brien?

  Devine.

• 18:49Speaker 04

Athletes are needing to get sponsorships.

• 18:51Conan O'Brien?

  Just ask him.

• 18:53Speaker 04

Yeah, no. So the main reason I'm here is like, could you put your face just on a side of a sled? Just give us some money, we'll slap it on there.

• 19:01Conan O'Brien?

Um, would I really get, if I, I could get some, uh, you know, uh, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend podcast sponsors? If I gave, if I threw some dough your way, I could get a little bit of a sponsorship?

• 19:12Speaker 04

I could probably get you on a sled for sure. I could get you connected with the right people, yeah.

• 19:17Conan O'Brien?

But what if it's one of those things, you know, when, it's a grim subject, but if an airplane goes down, the company quickly covers the logo. Have you noticed, have you ever found, you ever hear about that?

• 19:27Speaker 01

  Oh, God, cool.

• 19:27Conan O'Brien?

They like cover the logo of the plane because there's all this footage of, and they know, they're like, hmm, cover up that logo, the corporation, but it looks bad for the, so I'm just saying.

• 19:36Speaker 05

They're gonna do that if they win.

• 19:40Conan O'Brien?

And the winner is, hold on, they're covering up something.

• 19:45Conan O'Brien?

Devon is, uh, quickly spray painting over an image, um, yeah, uh, yeah, that's something, I, you know what, I, you know, I have to, I have to talk to the people here that control the purse strings. You'd think that would be me, but it is not.

• 20:01Speaker 04

  I've assumed it was.

• 20:02Conan O'Brien?

It's Jeff Ross, seems to control these things. He's a hard guy to get to. Um, you know, he's a, he's a, you know what I mean? He's a, it's tough, it's tough to, you know how Jeff, he moves around so quickly, he's always darting from room to room? He's like an eel, um.

• 20:16Speaker 04

Conan, when did this become the Jeff Ross podcast?

• 20:19Speaker 06

Oh, yeah, I like this guy.

• 20:24Conan O'Brien?

Devon, I now, I see what Devon's doing. He's getting me to say, Jeff Ross doesn't run things, I'll pledge the money.

• 20:31Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 20:32Conan O'Brien?

I think we have to look into this, Devon.

• 20:34Speaker 01

Who's the real boss around here? Write a check.

• 20:36Conan O'Brien?

  Who wears the pants?

• 20:37Speaker 01

  Who wears the pants?

• 20:38Speaker 04

How much do you need, Devon?

• 20:41Speaker 04

Uh, whatever you want to give.

• 20:43Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, and, and do it, yeah, do it in kilometers.

• 20:47Speaker 04

Do you want it in Canadian dollar?

• 20:48Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah, how many?

• 20:49Speaker 04

If you give us US funds, we really would be, could be thrilled.

• 20:53Conan O'Brien?

What's the difference between, uh, what's the exchange rate now between?

• 20:57Speaker 05

Uh, one Canadian dollar, sixty-nine US cents.

• 21:00Speaker 04

  Oh, is it that?

• 21:04Speaker 01

  That's a little rough.

• 21:05Conan O'Brien?

  It's a little rough. Sorry.

• 21:08Speaker 04

  That's.

• 21:09Conan O'Brien?

Did you bring your dog to the podcast?

• 21:11Speaker 01

He's a good one. A pretty good one. He's a good one. Yeah.

• 21:16Conan O'Brien?

Uh, what do you think on exchange rate, pup? Ruff. Um, God, I'm killing over here with myself.

• 21:22Speaker 01

He's just hydrating. Devon is hydrating.

• 21:24Conan O'Brien?

  He has to.

• 21:25Speaker 01

  I know.

• 21:26Conan O'Brien?

He's, I mean, uh, you've, and also, when you take a swig, it's the largest water bottle I've ever seen. There must be at least ninety-five liters.

• 21:36Speaker 06

  Look at that thing.

• 21:37Speaker 07

And he's a big guy. Imagine how big that thing is.

• 21:39Conan O'Brien?

That's all the water I've had in my life, when he just lifted it up.

• 21:45Speaker 07

How do you even get into bob, you call it bob sleighing?

• 21:48Speaker 04

  Bob sled, bob sleigh, it's.

• 21:50Speaker 07

  It's the same.

• 21:50Speaker 01

Is it a sleigh or a sled?

• 21:51Speaker 04

Honestly, I call it bob sled. I prefer it bob sled. It's because you can use it in lots of different ways. Bob sleigh is very singular, so.

• 21:59Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, bob sleigh is if you use it to kill people.

• 22:04Conan O'Brien?

So, so, uh, I, okay, I have another question here, and then we'll, we'll come back around to the money. I'll take care of the money. Don't you worry about that.

• 22:13Conan O'Brien?

What are you doing? You're the third. What is it you're doing in the bob sled, other than just hanging on for dear life? Are you shifting your weight at certain times? Are you, or, I mean, who's steering the thing? Who's in charge of snacks? I want to know what's going on.

• 22:28Speaker 04

There's a guy in the very front that, uh, he, he steers it. Um, I want no part of steering it. It seems like a lot of pressure. I just have to exist for like five seconds pushing it. And then I hop in and just, the rest of the blame can go to the guy at the front after that, so.

• 22:42Conan O'Brien?

So wait, so your contribution is pushing it and then jumping in and then hoping things go well?

• 22:49Speaker 04

Pretty much. Like you, you try and get in, like, so when you get in, it's kind of like a, I call it like a meathead ballet. There's three big guys that are all trying to get in, moving as fast as they can, and then it's like quick. And in, it's like, if you see it, it's very orchestrated. It looks, if the good, the teams that are good at it, look very good when they do it. Um, so it's like, you're very quick off the bunk and then in and down as low as you can.

• 23:14Conan O'Brien?

  Wow.

• 23:14Speaker 04

And then when you're back there, you don't want to be shifting a bunch, cause if you got three guys shifting around in the back, the pilot will feel it. So you're trying to just kind of stay as still as you can and stay as low as possible.

• 23:24Conan O'Brien?

Stay very still, stay very low. Um, which, uh, that's interesting. I think I'd be trying to escape most of the time if I was in.

• 23:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 23:32Conan O'Brien?

What, what is the, which country, just for example, would you say is, what's the country that's dominant in this sport?

• 23:38Speaker 04

Germany is, is probably the most dominant in it. They have been for a while.

• 23:42Conan O'Brien?

I bet it's because they've designed some crazily, insane bobsled.

• 23:48Speaker 01

  Yeah, like Volkswagen.

• 23:49Speaker 04

They genuinely do have what, their bobsleds at times, I try, like, we try and take a look at them, but they look very, uh, sleek, they're very high tech, they're.

• 23:58Conan O'Brien?

Have you ever checked it for an internal combustion engine?

• 24:03Conan O'Brien?

I mean, I, I'm sorry, I don't mean to impugn the Germans, but you know, they make BMWs and Porsches and everything. Have you checked to make sure?

• 24:10Speaker 01

I said Volkswagen. I don't know why I chose like, so weak.

• 24:15Conan O'Brien?

Mercedes. Have you ever checked to make sure that there's not an, an eight cylinder, beautiful BMW engine in there? And that's why they always win. Have you noticed that they go uphill sometimes for 20 minutes?

• 24:28Speaker 04

I fear, I fear if I touch their, uh, their sled, I would be.

• 24:33Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, they probably wouldn't like that. Yeah.

• 24:35Speaker 04

I don't know, I don't want to know, I don't know, want to know what happened.

• 24:37Speaker 07

What color are that? What, what are they sponsored by? What's on their sled?

• 24:41Speaker 04

  DHL was a big sponsor.

• 24:44Conan O'Brien?

  That makes sense.

• 24:45Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 24:46Conan O'Brien?

  He said, not sure why.

• 24:50Speaker 07

Um, and who? You're shipping something somewhere and it's got to get there fast.

• 24:54Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, that's, makes sense. Yeah. And you need four guys to wear tights and hug, hug each other while it's delivered. Um, who are your sponsors now? Or in the past.

• 25:04Speaker 04

So the program has their own, um, as far as like who we had last year. There's a lot of like local companies, um, because it's not a, especially in Canada, it's not. And like North America generally, it's not a well-covered sport. Like you're not flipping through the channels and like, oh, there's bobsled unless it's the Olympics.

• 25:25Conan O'Brien?

  Yep.

• 25:25Speaker 04

So all those other years, you're not going to see the sport typically unless people direct you right to it. So, um, it's not like a high coverage sport. You're typically not selling people that like, tons of eyes are going to get on the sled and see your logo. You're more or less selling a dream of, of what you're competing for, which everyone who joins the sport is, is joining to, for the most part, some people might not be, but almost everyone is joining to make the Olympics eventually.

• 25:54Conan O'Brien?

  Okay.

• 25:54Speaker 04

Um, so that's what you're selling when you're selling it to people. Otherwise, yeah, you, you can try and do what you can for social media sponsorship and, and give shout outs and stuff, but otherwise the, the coverage on it isn't super high.

• 26:08Conan O'Brien?

Well, I'm going to tell you something.

• 26:09Speaker 04

  Selling that part.

• 26:10Conan O'Brien?

If I can figure this out and if I do sponsor you guys, it's going to work the other way. You're going to start getting eyeballs because my face is on that bobsled. You see what I'm saying? It's not, oh, I hope people tune in and happen to see my face. When my face is on that bobsled, you're going to see viewership double, quadruple. And then the words that go higher. Um.

• 26:30Speaker 01

But it won't work for, like, you can't, you're going to sponsor them for now, but when they go to the Olympics, it's just going to say Canada on it. Like, are you?

• 26:38Conan O'Brien?

I'm going to get past those rules. I, I'm going to, you know what I mean?

• 26:42Speaker 04

  Canada O'Brien.

• 26:43Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. Yeah. Canada O'Brien and then just me in a Mountie hat.

• 26:48Speaker 04

Yeah. Canada O'Brien needs a friend is what the sled will be called.

• 26:51Conan O'Brien?

  Devon, um.

• 26:55Conan O'Brien?

I'm, uh, I'm proud to meet you, Devon.

• 26:58Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 26:58Conan O'Brien?

I'm proud to meet you and you seem like a fine fellow and I will, you know, we're going to think this over, but there could be a future in this. Do you know what I mean?

• 27:07Speaker 04

  Thank you.

• 27:08Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 27:08Speaker 04

I, uh, I just, I would like to say, I've been watching you since I was like nine. I used to watch, I used to like stay up late.

• 27:16Conan O'Brien?

  Oh.

• 27:16Speaker 04

And then I'd pretend to go to sleep and then I, I had this little like, 15 inch TV in my room that I'd like quietly turn on when I was a kid. And just like find the channel and watch it. You know, I used to watch it all the time and like this is. To see you now, talking directly to me is very like, it's almost not about out of body experience for me. So this is like quite literally a dream come true.

• 27:40Conan O'Brien?

  Well, thank you, Devon.

• 27:42Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 27:43Conan O'Brien?

Don't, don't mention anyone else. It hurts it. Um, you know, uh, Devon, I will say this. When I started way back in the day, my best fans were Canadians. Uh, before Americans were liking me, Canadians, I think that Canada put me on their TV guide, like three years before America did because Canadians, uh, I, I mean, I revere Canadian comedy and Canadian comedians and SC TV. And so, um, you guys were always in my corner in the early days. And so the image of you, you know, sneaking some, some Conan O'Brien, uh, illegally makes me really happy. And so this is nice. I'm glad I met you. Um, I'm going to talk to the money guys. We're going to figure this out and I'm going to start to get in shape. Cause

• 28:28Speaker 04

  Perfect.

• 28:29Conan O'Brien?

Yes. I want to be killed.

• 28:32Speaker 04

You can always, you can always take a ride on a bobsled. If you head to Whistler or Lake Placid, they have tours for you. So

• 28:38Conan O'Brien?

Uh, no, no, I'm going, I'm going with you or with no one. So it's you or no one. All right. Hey, Devon, uh, very nice to meet you and I hope our paths cross down the road. Okay.

• 28:49Speaker 04

  Awesome. Thank you very much.

• 28:50Conan O'Brien?

  Take care, man.

• 28:51Speaker 04

  Bye.

• 28:51Conan O'Brien?

  Bye.

• 28:53Speaker 07

• 29:43Speaker 06

  Yep.

• 29:44Conan O'Brien?

Well, did you know Alka-Seltzer has a line of cold and flu medications known as Alka-Seltzer Cold?

• 29:49Speaker 06

  Ooh.

• 29:50Conan O'Brien?

  Did you know that, David?

• 29:51Speaker 06

• 29:52Conan O'Brien?

Why didn't you know that, David?

  I knew this.

• 29:56Speaker 06

  Did you?

• 29:56Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, I've tried it, it's really good. And I like that fizzy, fizzy, fizzy when you drop the Alka-Seltzer Cold into the water.

• 30:03Speaker 06

  You do, yeah.

What do I gift my mom and nieces? Walmart has top brands you know, like Ninja, Disney, Lego. Oh, Dad loves music. Sonos can bring his songs to life, what sound that hits just right. And my coffee-obsessed bestie? They long he brews coffee right for mornings extra bright. All those great brands at Walmart, who knew? We knew, now you do too. Shop gifts, no love at Walmart.
