  This is a HeadGum Podcast.

• 0:16Fortune Feimster?

  Pretty little episode.

• 0:18Mae Martin?

Welcome to the Handsome Pod, our pretty little episode. It's me, Fortune Feimster.

• 0:25Fortune Feimster?

  And me, Mae Martin.

• 0:28Mae Martin?

  Mae Martin.

• 0:29Fortune Feimster?

  Mae Martin at your service.

• 0:33Mae Martin?

Yeah. Um, you're on the road?

• 0:36Fortune Feimster?

  Yeah.

• 0:36Mae Martin?

No, I got, well, I got back to LA about 90 minutes ago and then I.

• 0:42Fortune Feimster?

  Nice.

• 0:42Mae Martin?

Yeah, I'm, and I, I came to Parv's here because it's closer to the airport. It's like a 20 minute drive. So I'm here.

• 0:49Fortune Feimster?

  Oh, yeah.

• 0:50Mae Martin?

Podding up a storm with you, Fortune. You're in your chair.

• 0:53Fortune Feimster?

Podding. I'm in, you know, I'm in the South. I think you can tell by the decor.

• 1:01Mae Martin?

  I like that little corner.

• 1:02Fortune Feimster?

It's a little different here than in California.

• 1:05Mae Martin?

  Right.

• 1:06Fortune Feimster?

This is my little nook while I'm here.

• 1:08Mae Martin?

I like to give a little nook.

• 1:10Fortune Feimster?

Yeah, and I've got my, um, handy, uh, mic on a, what do you call it? Like a headset?

• 1:18Mae Martin?

Yeah, you look like you're conducting airplane traffic.

• 1:21Fortune Feimster?

  I am.

• 1:22Mae Martin?

Which they need that right now, don't they?

• 1:25Fortune Feimster?

  Desperately, there's a shortage.

• 1:28Mae Martin?

  Get involved, dude.

• 1:30Fortune Feimster?

Get involved. This is how we help.

• 1:32Mae Martin?

You gotta help where you can and just step up sometimes, you know? Get out there on the tarmac and start waving in those, those 747s.

• 1:40Fortune Feimster?

They need, they need help, so.

• 1:42Mae Martin?

I went to a head spa the other day. Heard of it?

• 1:45Fortune Feimster?

  What's that?

• 1:46Mae Martin?

  It's like.

• 1:47Fortune Feimster?

Is it just for your head?

• 1:48Mae Martin?

Yes, it is. And I was like, guys, I'm going to treat everyone on the tour. There's like three of us to a head spa. And I Googled and I didn't really read reviews and then took everyone to this sketchy place where they ended up like. You lie down and they're kind of pouring water on your head and kind of tickling your head and stuff.

• 2:07Fortune Feimster?

  I don't like this.

• 2:08Mae Martin?

And then they're putting cream on my face, you know, I am about my face. And afterwards I look at all the products and it's like Vaseline. It's like stuff from like, like a Rite Aid. Like it was, and I, oh, it was really, it was gross. We left feeling pretty greasy and stressed out.

• 2:26Fortune Feimster?

Yeah. Was there anything about it that was like soothing?

• 2:30Mae Martin?

Um, what was, at one point, they touched my feet briefly. I liked that.

• 2:35Fortune Feimster?

See, I would, I would go to a foot massage place over a head massage place.

• 2:39Mae Martin?

Totally. Don't let anyone near your head if, if, I mean, they thought me and my friend Matt were a couple. Cause I guess we booked a couples head spa and then they kept being like.

• 2:49Fortune Feimster?

  That's a fair assessment then.

• 2:50Mae Martin?

I know. So we had like matching silk robes and they kept being like, let's just be in the same room together. And I was like, no, separate rooms. Yeah.

• 2:59Fortune Feimster?

Yeah. I, when I get a massage, I usually tell them I don't need the head or face.

• 3:04Mae Martin?

  Yeah, it's.

• 3:05Fortune Feimster?

I don't really like strangers touching my head or my face.

• 3:08Mae Martin?

Well, I had a facial the other day and I loved it. So I thought this is the new me. And then I, I realize you, you gotta be pretty selective.

• 3:15Fortune Feimster?

Well, I think you gotta go for the face to a specialist.

• 3:19Mae Martin?

I think so. Not a Vaseline shop.

• 3:23Fortune Feimster?

But next time, look for a, if, uh, like a foot massage place. Cause usually they, the foot massage places will either do like feet and legs, or sometimes they'll do full body as well.

• 3:36Mae Martin?

  Whoa, okay, okay. Yeah.

• 3:37Fortune Feimster?

And so, and usually the foot massage places are priced reasonably.

• 3:43Mae Martin?

Okay. I'll do that. Yeah. I wanted to, I wanted everyone to be so relaxed after and be like, and, but everyone is so greasy and stressed out. And just in the cab on the way back, just silent.

• 3:54Fortune Feimster?

I would not like that at all. I don't like to be, um, like wet and dirty.

• 4:01Mae Martin?

Really? You're like, well, who does? I guess. But you like to be a clean, dry person.

• 4:05Fortune Feimster?

Yeah. Like that's why I don't, I don't want to be, and I don't enjoy like. Going on a beach and getting wet and then getting in the sand.

• 4:14Mae Martin?

Oh, yeah. I mean, who does? Well, you.

• 4:17Fortune Feimster?

I mean, beach, there are plenty of.

• 4:18Mae Martin?

There's beach people. Yeah, you're right.

• 4:20Fortune Feimster?

  Don't think twice about it.

• 4:21Mae Martin?

  Right, okay.

• 4:22Fortune Feimster?

I can be on the beach and enjoy the sand, but I don't want to then get in the water and then have the sand on my wet skin.

• 4:30Mae Martin?

But then you're gonna dry and the sand will just gently fall off your skin.

• 4:33Fortune Feimster?

I know. So you don't mind it. I don't love it.

• 4:36Mae Martin?

Yeah, I guess you're right. You've got like a sensory thing about that, maybe, yeah.

• 4:39Fortune Feimster?

  I think so, yeah.

• 4:40Mae Martin?

I think you're right that maybe an orgy is not for you.

• 4:44Fortune Feimster?

You're exactly right, man. It's not. For multiple reasons.

• 4:49Mae Martin?

You don't want to be wet and dirty.

• 4:51Fortune Feimster?

Don't want to be wet and dirty. I don't want anyone watching me. This is not a spectator sport.

• 4:57Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 4:58Fortune Feimster?

This is a one, one-on-one situation happening for me.

• 5:02Mae Martin?

  Right.

• 5:03Fortune Feimster?

  Yeah.

• 5:04Mae Martin?

I had a guy at the meet and greet the other night who said to me, I have a setup for a punch, setup for a joke, and I want to hear your version of it. Fortune's version and Tig's version. Like, we each have to write a punchline. It's a big ask, to be honest. He came in with big demands, but he was nice. But anyway, then the joke was like, what's the difference between top surgery and a double mastectomy? And I was like, should I be offended by this guy? I can't tell what the vibe. And he was like, because I know we joke about it all the time, but he was like, so anyway, you pass that on to you guys and then you all have to come up with a different punchline.

• 5:42Fortune Feimster?

He didn't give you a punchline?

• 5:43Mae Martin?

No, he wants ours. I think he's basically asking, what's the difference? But I think he just wants to know.

• 5:49Fortune Feimster?

He's like, I would love a punchline, but what I really want is information.

• 5:52Mae Martin?

Google it, bud, you know? But yeah, anyway, mul, mul on that. I don't, I was like, I don't know that.

• 6:01Fortune Feimster?

  Okay.

• 6:03Mae Martin?

It is funny, the idea though of giving us all the same setup and we all have to come up with a different punchline. I kinda like that.

• 6:09Fortune Feimster?

Wait, and what's the setup again?

• 6:11Mae Martin?

What's the difference between a top surgery and a double mastectomy?

• 6:16Fortune Feimster?

  Hmm, okay.

• 6:17Mae Martin?

I mean, it's, we're wading into tricky territory there. I think we got, I think maybe only Tig would be brave enough to just throw something out there.

• 6:25Fortune Feimster?

Tig would, Tig's would evolve this motion.

• 6:29Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, Tig, yeah.

• 6:32Fortune Feimster?

I, I bet Tig could come up with one very quickly.

• 6:35Mae Martin?

Yeah, I do like the idea though of us all coming up with a different punchline. Maybe a different setup though. Maybe if we go with something a little less charged, like, what's the difference between a, you know, a cat and a dog, you know, something like that, something like that, you know what I mean?

• 6:50Fortune Feimster?

My dad asked, his dad joke is, what's the difference between deer nuts and beer nuts? One is a dollar ninety-nine and the other one is under a buck.

• 7:00Mae Martin?

Oh, I like it. I really like it. I'm always, I need like a little trove of these to tell Uber drivers when they say, tell me a joke.

• 7:11Fortune Feimster?

I did a corporate event once for a bunch of dentists and I went online and purposely looked up a bunch of dentist jokes and I said, and I started my set and I said, listen, I did not write these. They are from the internet.

• 7:25Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 7:25Fortune Feimster?

And I gave them a trove of dad joke den, you know,

• 7:30Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 7:30Fortune Feimster?

  Involving dentists.

• 7:31Mae Martin?

  Did they like it?

• 7:33Fortune Feimster?

That was, that was their favorite part of the set.

• 7:35Mae Martin?

That's what they wanted. Yeah, totally. Yeah, that's really funny.

• 7:38Fortune Feimster?

They're like, we'll take that over your stories any day.

• 7:41Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 7:42Fortune Feimster?

  I was like, fair enough.

• 7:43Mae Martin?

I have found that a little on the road that people, like, if you do a local reference, that is the highlight of the show for everyone. Yeah.

• 7:50Fortune Feimster?

And they, that, and they wanna know where you ate.

• 7:53Mae Martin?

I have a question for you.

• 7:54Fortune Feimster?

  Okay.

• 7:55Mae Martin?

So I, I pull like an animal tarot card in my tour show for the audience and then, so I, I always get an audience member to help in the front row.

• 8:04Fortune Feimster?

  Yeah.

• 8:05Mae Martin?

So this person pulled a, an eagle and then she starts freaking out and then she says, well eagles, she goes, I'm from Alaska. And I was like, what's the connection? And she goes, eagles are like pigeons in Alaska. And I said, hold the phone.

• 8:19Fortune Feimster?

  Cause they're everywhere.

• 8:20Mae Martin?

Yeah, but I was like, not like pigeons though. And she was like, no, really? Like pigeons? Like they're everywhere on the street. They're eating out of the trash. Is that true?

• 8:28Fortune Feimster?

  Really?

• 8:29Mae Martin?

  If that's true.

• 8:30Fortune Feimster?

  I have no clue.

• 8:31Mae Martin?

We gotta be talking about that more if that's true. Eagles like pigeons?

• 8:36Fortune Feimster?

Cause I guess at one point, weren't they in danger of being extinct?

• 8:40Mae Martin?

That's what I'm saying. I got into almost.

• 8:43Fortune Feimster?

  Eagles?

• 8:45Mae Martin?

Like, the whole audience was chiming in and I, I felt like I'd started a big argument. And some people were going, yeah, they're like pigeons. And I said, I call bullshit.

• 8:54Fortune Feimster?

It says, yes. This, this says, yes, Alaska has the highest population of bald eagles in the United States with an estimated thirty thousand to a hundred thousand plus birds.

• 9:06Mae Martin?

  Okay.

• 9:07Fortune Feimster?

They are abundant along the coast, particularly in southeast Alaska, where they nest in tall trees and feed on salmon. So, I mean, yeah, it sounds like the, it sounds like you would see them often there for sure.

• 9:23Mae Martin?

Okay, nesting in tall trees, I get. Feasting on salmon, I get. But just sitting around like pigeons, I don't know, I'm still not sold.

• 9:31Fortune Feimster?

That I wouldn't know until, yeah, I went to Alaska, which I've been once to Alaska and it's beautiful.

• 9:36Mae Martin?

You did, right? Is that where you went fishing?

• 9:39Fortune Feimster?

I did go fishing there. I was on a cruise with my friend's family.

• 9:43Mae Martin?

  Yes.

• 9:44Fortune Feimster?

And that was one of our excursions, we went fishing.

• 9:47Mae Martin?

  Yeah, nice.

• 9:47Fortune Feimster?

Beautiful. And then I got on that boat and sang karaoke in a karaoke competition for three days and won.

• 9:54Mae Martin?

No, you didn't. Why haven't you, why isn't that number one on your IMDb?

• 10:00Fortune Feimster?

I don't know, but I was a, this was, this was before I was on television and I was famous on that boat.

• 10:06Mae Martin?

Oh my God, what was your big number that like blew them out of the water?

• 10:09Fortune Feimster?

Well, my first one was my go-to, which is Goodbye Earl by The Chicks.

• 10:15Mae Martin?

  Oh, yeah.

• 10:16Fortune Feimster?

Then I, we started a small bar and the venues got bigger as you progressed.

• 10:21Mae Martin?

  Oh my God.

• 10:23Fortune Feimster?

The next one was, uh. Total Eclipse of the Heart, I think.

• 10:28Mae Martin?

  Yeah, classic.

• 10:29Fortune Feimster?

And then the finale was in the big theater. And it was, I said, this is from my favorite cruise ship movie of all time, Titanic.

• 10:39Mae Martin?

  Oh, my god.

• 10:41Fortune Feimster?

  My heart will go on.

• 10:43Mae Martin?

  No wonder you dominated.

• 10:45Fortune Feimster?

It was a double whammy, that and then Sweet Caroline, because that's a crowd pleaser.

• 10:49Mae Martin?

Oh, my god, you knew what you were doing.

• 10:52Fortune Feimster?

And I won a sweatshirt and a mug.

• 10:55Mae Martin?

  I'm disappointed by that reveal.

• 10:59Mae Martin?

You didn't win like a free cruise?

• 11:01Fortune Feimster?

  I did not.

• 11:02Mae Martin?

You put a lot of time in there.

• 11:03Fortune Feimster?

Holland America, how dare you? I didn't win anything but some Holland America swag.

• 11:10Mae Martin?

You know, when I touched you, that one?

• 11:15Fortune Feimster?

  Uh huh.

• 11:16Mae Martin?

Did you do the big moment where you go, baby, baby, baby? Like, did you really belt it out?

• 11:22Fortune Feimster?

Well, that wasn't one of my songs.

• 11:23Mae Martin?

Oh, wait, what am I, wait, what am I thinking?

• 11:25Fortune Feimster?

I don't know, which one are you thinking of?

• 11:27Mae Martin?

What was the middle song you said?

• 11:29Fortune Feimster?

Total Eclipse of the Heart, you're thinking of Celine Dion.

• 11:33Mae Martin?

Oh, okay, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry.

• 11:36Fortune Feimster?

Total Eclipse of the Heart is Bonnie.

• 11:39Mae Martin?

  Yeah, Bonnie Raitt.

• 11:39Fortune Feimster?

  Tyler?

• 11:41Mae Martin?

  Oh, maybe.

• 11:41Fortune Feimster?

  Tyler, I think.

• 11:42Mae Martin?

Yeah, maybe, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 11:44Fortune Feimster?

But anyway, if anyone went on a Holland America cruise, I want to say this was 2005 or 2006. I was the karaoke champion and that's kind of a big deal.

• 11:55Mae Martin?

I bet there are people who have seen you on TV now and remember that and are like, I was there at the very beginning when Fortune was.

• 12:02Fortune Feimster?

That's where it all started, my friend.

• 12:03Mae Martin?

  A born superstar, triple threat.

• 12:11Fortune Feimster?

Well, should we get some questions for us superstars?

• 12:14Mae Martin?

  Yes, please.

• 12:16Fortune Feimster?

  All right.

• 12:16Mae Martin?

Let's see what people want to know.

• 12:18Speaker 03

Hi, May, Fortune and Tig. I'm a huge fan, I have been listening so long, I've gone back and started re-listening. My name's Kelsey, I am originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, but I currently live in Toronto, so I'm a huge fan of any time it gets mentioned in the pod. My question is, what is your?

• 12:44Speaker 03

Most whimsical thing that you do for yourself?

• 12:48Mae Martin?

  Where do I start?

• 12:50Fortune Feimster?

  I know, May's got a list.

• 12:52Mae Martin?

Oh, my gosh. Yeah, where do I, I mean, I'm doing spells.

• 12:56Fortune Feimster?

  Yeah, May hit us.

• 12:57Mae Martin?

I do spells in the sauna. I went and bought these like spell herbs that I put in my bath and I, I do protection spells and things. If I see the new moon through glass, then I have to go outside and bow to the moon and say, "Good evening, Lady Moon."

• 13:13Fortune Feimster?

  Wow.

• 13:13Mae Martin?

If I see a magpie on its own, I, that's bad. And I gotta see two magpies, because one for sorrow, two for joy. But if you see just one, then you can say, "Good morning, Mr. Magpie. How are you today? How's your wife and children?" And that will like, take away the bad luck. I don't sit on the corner of a table. I don't stir with a knife, because I stir up strife. So you gotta stir with a spoon.

• 13:36Fortune Feimster?

I just stirred with a knife this morning.

• 13:38Mae Martin?

No, okay, but you didn't know, so you're off the hook, but now you know.

• 13:41Fortune Feimster?

  Okay.

• 13:42Mae Martin?

  Now you know, you go.

• 13:43Fortune Feimster?

  You went?

• 13:45Mae Martin?

  No! Now you're.

• 13:46Fortune Feimster?

  No!

• 13:47Mae Martin?

You gotta be careful now that you know.

• 13:49Fortune Feimster?

  Okay, I know.

• 13:51Mae Martin?

Yeah, those are the main things. I mean,

• 13:53Fortune Feimster?

  Okay.

• 13:53Mae Martin?

But whimsical, is that sort of what she meant, do you think? Or like for all?

• 13:57Fortune Feimster?

That sounds pretty whimsical to me.

• 13:59Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 14:00Fortune Feimster?

That's more whimsy than I've got in my life.

• 14:03Mae Martin?

Do you have superstitions, though? Like, before you go on stage, like, I say a prayer before I go on stage and I do ten pushups. Yeah.

• 14:10Fortune Feimster?

I do not do that. I have seen you do pushups. I know that's part of your routine.

• 14:15Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 14:15Fortune Feimster?

You know, I still have that old, I still feel weird about throwing away a penny.

• 14:20Mae Martin?

  Oh, yeah.

• 14:20Fortune Feimster?

I don't like to do that, because.

• 14:22Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 14:23Fortune Feimster?

And spilling salt, I definitely still do the, you're supposed to like throw it over your shoulder or something.

• 14:29Mae Martin?

Yeah, over your left shoulder, I think, to get in Satan's eye.

• 14:33Fortune Feimster?

  Satan.

• 14:34Mae Martin?

  Satan's eye.

• 14:35Fortune Feimster?

I never know Satan was involved.

• 14:38Fortune Feimster?

  So stuff like that, um.

• 14:40Mae Martin?

Would you walk under a ladder?

• 14:41Fortune Feimster?

That I would, because I'm not really thinking about that. I mean, you know, I, there are times when I'm sitting like in a park or something and I see like a. A bird that's like really prevalent around me.

• 14:54Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 14:55Fortune Feimster?

Occasionally I'll be like, oh, that's my grandmother.

• 14:57Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 14:57Fortune Feimster?

Saying hi. Like, so I think that kind of stuff's a little whimsical.

• 15:01Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 15:02Fortune Feimster?

But I mean, I have some whimsy in me for sure, but I'm, I think I'm probably a little bit more grounded in my, you know, day to day.

• 15:09Mae Martin?

  I think so too. Yeah.

• 15:11Fortune Feimster?

You seem to have gotten a lot of whimsy from your parents, don't you think?

• 15:14Mae Martin?

Oh, my God. I mean, how am I to, like, I'm a goner with the parents I have. Let, let me, this is a message my dad sent me today. Yeah. He sent it on Instagram in a DM, just to sort of, an example of the whimsy. Hi, mate. One of your, one of your English fans has sent me a book of poetry she's written as a gift for you. So this is somebody who's been DMing on Instagram. Meanwhile, Friday is a full moon in Scorpio and is also Beltane and the evening of your birthday. Very potent. Thinking I must do some important puppet work that day, or at least leave things on the deck to soak up the moonbeams. Beltane is the Celtic fire festival about fertility, very important to modern witches.

• 15:57Fortune Feimster?

I mean, you were cut from his cloth.

• 15:59Mae Martin?

  Exactly.

• 16:00Fortune Feimster?

  One thousand percent.

• 16:01Mae Martin?

Like, even if I didn't subscribe to that stuff, it's all in my head. So, yeah.

• 16:06Fortune Feimster?

If I told, if I had said any of that stuff to my father, he would think I had had a stroke.

• 16:12Mae Martin?

  Really? He'd call someone.

• 16:14Fortune Feimster?

He'd be like, what is this gibber jab?

• 16:18Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 16:19Fortune Feimster?

  You're saying?

• 16:20Mae Martin?

Yeah, it's funny. It is so mainstream culture now, the kind of woo woo. But in, in the nineties, if there was like a character on a sitcom, who was into that, it would be like a wacky ducky. It would be like Phoebe.

• 16:31Fortune Feimster?

Oh, yeah. They'd be like, this one needs help.

• 16:33Mae Martin?

Yeah. And now it's all of LA.

• 16:35Fortune Feimster?

Well, yeah, you found your people, I think.

• 16:37Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 16:38Fortune Feimster?

It's all about finding your people. Uh, once you have other people around you that believe that, you're like, here we go.

• 16:44Mae Martin?

Oh, yeah, you're right. Should we hear what Kelsey has to say?

• 16:47Fortune Feimster?

Uh, yeah, let's hear Kelsey's whimsy.

• 16:49Speaker 03

My answer of the most whimsical thing I do for myself is whenever I'm putting away my winter jackets, I'll slip like a five dollar bill or like a toonie or looney in the pocket and then forget about it, of course. And then every October, November, when I dig them back out, I discover it for myself. And I think that's really fun.

• 17:10Mae Martin?

  I like that.

• 17:11Speaker 03

Would recommend. Thanks for the pod. Bring so much joy to. My life and I'm sure the life of everybody else who listens. Bye.

• 17:19Fortune Feimster?

  Aw, thanks, Kelsey.

• 17:21Mae Martin?

  Thanks, Kelsey.

• 17:22Fortune Feimster?

I do like, I do like setting yourself up for a fun surprise.

• 17:26Mae Martin?

Yeah, that is nice. Yeah, I, I wish people sent more letters. It's nice to get something in the mail, like, unexpected. That would be fun.

• 17:33Fortune Feimster?

I am into the astrology stuff, like, I like the reading about like compatibility.

• 17:40Mae Martin?

  Oh, God.

• 17:41Fortune Feimster?

  In terms of your sign.

• 17:42Mae Martin?

Why have we not had our, our compatibility read?

• 17:46Fortune Feimster?

  I don't know.

• 17:47Mae Martin?

We'll have to put it on the list, Thomas. There's that app CoStar, um, that's for me wildly accurate. We could see what our compatibility is. Another time, we'll do it. We should get our charts read.

• 17:58Fortune Feimster?

Another time, we'll do it. Yeah.

• 18:00Mae Martin?

I did it with my friend Sabrina Jalise. We had like our, our friendship compatibility and it was really accurate.

• 18:06Fortune Feimster?

Oh, I'm sure. You guys are peas in a pod.

• 18:09Mae Martin?

But it also highlighted like right where we're different, you know? Yeah.

• 18:12Fortune Feimster?

Amazing. Another, let's get to another one, yeah?

• 18:15Mae Martin?

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 18:17Speaker 04

Hi handsome, this is Emmy and I'm a pretty little lady in Texas, but I'm soon to be a pretty little lady in Chicagoland. And I'm here with my eight-year-old son Elliot, who I think would be great friends with Tig's roommates, and he has a question for you.

• 18:29Fortune Feimster?

  Oh.

• 18:29Speaker 05

Um, hello, do you have any advice on, um, moving? We can't really answer our own question because we've never done it before.

• 18:37Fortune Feimster?

  Fair, fair enough.

• 18:38Speaker 04

So like Elliot said, we can't really answer our own question, but we want to say thank you for putting some silliness out into the world each week. And also we love Zootopia too. Thanks.

• 18:47Fortune Feimster?

Aw. Elliot, what a great question.

• 18:50Mae Martin?

  Elliot.

• 18:51Fortune Feimster?

  Moving is not my favorite.

• 18:54Mae Martin?

  Oh, really?

• 18:55Fortune Feimster?

But it is a, it's a necessary thing. Um, you know, because sometimes you gotta, you know, uproot and go to another place for other opportunities or job or love or whatever it is.

• 19:09Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 19:09Fortune Feimster?

So I, you know, if you can afford it to get some help with the movers, that is helpful.

• 19:17Mae Martin?

To actually pack stuff up or just to move it?

• 19:20Fortune Feimster?

Um, to, to at least with the, I, I like to pack my own stuff up as far as my personal things and the breakable things. But like big furniture, I think it is worth the money to have someone.

• 19:33Mae Martin?

  Wrap it up and stuff?

• 19:34Fortune Feimster?

You know, haul that stuff out, wrap it, put it in your truck, in the truck. And and that them take it. But if you know, there's like treasures, I usually want those in the car with me. So I can, you know, make sure they're okay. So I would highly recommend the big stuff outsourcing. And the the important stuff to yourself, keeping that close by.

• 19:58Mae Martin?

Yep, I think um, it's important to allow yourself to be nostalgic and feel the emotionality of it. It's actually like a great opportunity to go through all your stuff and you're looking at your memories coming up. And then I love unpacking and you get rid of some stuff, but make sure that you bring what you care about and and let yourself get. You know, if you feel emotional leaving the house, definitely say goodbye to the house. Like go around the house and say thank you and goodbye to the house um, for all the memories. And uh, you're always gonna have those memories, but I think let yourself.

• 20:34Fortune Feimster?

  Yeah.

• 20:34Mae Martin?

Sort of put on some music and get a little emo emo with it when you pack, you know? And then when you unpack, that's the best new new space, new start.

• 20:43Fortune Feimster?

Yeah, I do like trying to go through stuff before packing up. So you are like donating things and not like taking all these things like if you hadn't worn something in a long time.

• 20:55Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 20:56Fortune Feimster?

Probably time for it to go. So you're not like drudging uh, drudging a lot of things across the country.

• 21:03Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 21:04Fortune Feimster?

Um, that you're not gonna end up using. It's a good time to sort of um, you know, weed through some older things.

• 21:11Mae Martin?

Definitely. See if it sparks joy.

• 21:14Fortune Feimster?

My first house that I bought, I had such an attachment to it because it was such a milestone for me to get it. So when I sold it, I was very emotional about it and did that whole like going through the rooms and like really taking it in and saying goodbye. I had, I'll think about that house forever, I think.

• 21:32Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 21:33Fortune Feimster?

And then my this this last house I had, I was like, bye.

• 21:36Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 21:39Mae Martin?

  Take some pictures.

• 21:40Fortune Feimster?

  Twice.

• 21:40Mae Martin?

Take some pictures of uh, of the empty house before you leave. Yeah.

• 21:44Fortune Feimster?

  Yeah.

• 21:45Mae Martin?

Yeah, because a house when you're eight, that's a significant, yeah. And have fun in Chicago. Chicago is such a cool city.

• 21:51Fortune Feimster?

Yeah, a lot of adventures ahead.

• 21:53Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 21:53Fortune Feimster?

Well, amazing. Well, those were some fun questions.

• 21:56Mae Martin?

I really liked those. Thanks, guys.

• 21:58Fortune Feimster?

Uh, as always, if you guys want to ask us any questions or ask for any advice. Um, like Emmy and Elliot just did, you can go to speakpipe.com/hansampod to submit any of that. We love hearing from all of you.

• 22:13Mae Martin?

Yeah, please. And, uh, yeah. Do you have anything coming up, Fortune? I got, I've got nothing, really.

• 22:19Fortune Feimster?

Um, I'm just headed to Europe soon, so I will be going, uh, and I am going to take my mom.

• 22:25Mae Martin?

  Yes.

• 22:26Fortune Feimster?

I am going to take her to the second half, to the Copenhagen, London and Dublin part of that trip. But yeah, we'll be going at the end of the month. So if there are any European handsome listeners, I'll be there and then Stockholm, Oslo, Berlin. Uh, I'm, I'm pumped to hit all these cities.

• 22:44Mae Martin?

You're gonna have the best time. You're gonna hear people saying, Keep it handsome.

• 22:49Fortune Feimster?

Keep it handsome. I can't wait. Well, I guess, uh, all that's left here. Oh, do you have anything you?

• 22:55Mae Martin?

  No, I'm, I'm good.

• 22:58Fortune Feimster?

Okay. Well, I guess, uh, well, all that's left is to tell everybody else to keep it.

• 23:04Mae Martin?
