The McElroy brothers are not experts and their advice should never be followed. Travis insists he's a sexpert, but if there's a degree on his wall, I haven't seen it. Also, this show isn't for kids, which I mention only so the babies out there will know how cool they are for listening. What's up, you cool baby?

• 1:10Travis McElroy?

Hello and welcome to my brother, my brother and me, an advice show for the Mondrian era. I'm your oldest brother, Justin McElroy.

• 1:16Travis McElroy?

What's up, Trav Nation? Vroom, vroom. It's me, middlest brother and big dog Travis Wolf Wolf McElroy.

• 1:23Griffin McElroy?

Shut up and drive. It's me, built for tough, Griffin McElroy.

• 1:29Travis McElroy?

Guys, I figure it's Max Fun Drive. It's the second week. We should start off with something topical. I just watched Wicked. You guys heard about this?

• 1:37Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, we could also, I stand before a road diverging in the wood and before one path is a bunch of dirty fucking foot printed trash and mud and dog shit and grime. And it says, and then, and there's a sign right there. It says, this way to talk about wicked. And then the other way, get this, there's money laying everywhere. And it says, this way to do your pledge break for the drive that only lasts one more.

• 2:00Travis McElroy?

  Sure, sure, sure.

• 2:01Griffin McElroy?

So, and I'm looking at that one.

• 2:03Travis McElroy?

  Can we incorporate them?

• 2:05Griffin McElroy?

I would rather not have shitty money.

• 2:08Travis McElroy?

No, not shitty money, just wicked good money, dirty sexy money.

• 2:11Griffin McElroy?

In this case, the road less traveled has the money on it. This is a win win for us.

• 2:16Travis McElroy?

Yeah. Okay. But that seems like a trap, doesn't it? Like if I would, if I went in the woods and there was a path with money laid out, leading down it and one path that everyone went down.

• 2:28Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 2:28Travis McElroy?

You know what's, I'm gonna get murdered on the money.

• 2:31Griffin McElroy?

I guess, I guess, I guess let's address this. Do you think your hot new discussion points?

• 2:38Travis McElroy?

No, I was just gonna say I liked it.

• 2:39Griffin McElroy?

Please, please. Do you think your hot?

• 2:42Travis McElroy?

  The whole thing.

• 2:43Griffin McElroy?

Your hot new discussion points on this ancient movie is going to support my, please let me finish.

• 2:51Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 2:51Griffin McElroy?

Is going to support my, support my family and the business that we have nurtured together for a decade and a half.

• 2:58Travis McElroy?

No, I was just gonna say I enjoyed it and the songs were fun.

• 3:00Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 3:01Travis McElroy?

Griffin, as someone told me lately.

• 3:05Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 3:06Travis McElroy?

Everyone deserves the chance to fly. And I think that extends.

• 3:09Travis McElroy?

  Wow, that's beautiful.

• 3:11Travis McElroy?

  It was in the.

• 3:13Griffin McElroy?

What? That was part of the movie.

• 3:14Travis McElroy?

  Were you paying close attention?

• 3:16Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 3:16Travis McElroy?

  No.

• 3:17Griffin McElroy?

  So you like.

• 3:17Travis McElroy?

  I wash it in chunks.

• 3:19Griffin McElroy?

  Okay, great.

• 3:20Travis McElroy?

This morning, I'm glad you mentioned wicked though Travis, because I wanted to say something.

• 3:24Griffin McElroy?

Oh, here we go. Let me put on my, let me put on my galoshes.

• 3:27Travis McElroy?

It's that today, the first thing I experienced this morning was I opened some social media. I don't keep track anymore. And I watched Cynthia Rebo sing happy birthday to Guillermo from the Jimmy Kimmel show. And I went for it was so beautiful. And I, this isn't a joke. I woke up and I watched her sing. I think I've never heard this song, the way she's singing it to Guillermo. And then it's, it was beautiful. It was beautiful. So that's the thing I want to say about wicked.

• 3:57Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 3:58Travis McElroy?

  That's my contribution, Trav.

• 4:00Travis McElroy?

Griffin, anything you'd like to add about Wiccan?

• 4:02Griffin McElroy?

No, I don't think so. And I don't think there's anything else happening for one more week that's going to support our family and the stability of our whole business. Nurtured for a decade and a half. So I think let's get into the questions, guys.

• 4:12Travis McElroy?

Well, Griffin, that's ironic. It's the max fun drive.

• 4:14Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, you didn't know?

• 4:16Griffin McElroy?

No, I did know. I did know.

• 4:18Travis McElroy?

I wanted to, now that the show has begun.

• 4:20Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 4:21Travis McElroy?

I wanted to talk about the Max Fun Drive because you're supposed to do it at the top.

• 4:25Griffin McElroy?

It's weird. We didn't learn this when we went to Terry Gross's pledge school, but she didn't mention anything about.

• 4:32Travis McElroy?

  Terry Gross's Gross Out Academy.

• 4:34Griffin McElroy?

She didn't teach us about edging for pledge edging or pledging, I guess, which is what we're doing here.

• 4:39Travis McElroy?

Pay attention at Gross Out Academy because you just talked about edging and Terry Gross.

• 4:43Griffin McElroy?

They know we're going to give them the hard sell on Max Fun Drive and how much great bonus content they can get, like our Hot Ones audition tape. But we're making them really wait before they can bust on it.

• 4:53Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 4:54Griffin McElroy?

Our style this time. See how it pans out.

• 4:57Travis McElroy?

If you go to maximumfun.org/join, you can see all the details and see all the gifts and see all the stuff. But the important thing is, this is the time of year we come to you and say, hey, if you like these shows, we would really like your help in making them possible. It is funded by you and that's the reason we've been able to do this for over a decade. How many years? 14?

• 5:20Travis McElroy?

  Like 15, 15 in April.

• 5:22Griffin McElroy?

  This is our 15th year.

• 5:23Travis McElroy?

Yeah, for so long. It's thanks to your support. And if you've been listed for a while, you never supported, or maybe you lapsed and you're able to come back. It would really mean the world to us if you could do that. So go to maximumfun.org/join. We'll talk more about it later.

• 5:37Travis McElroy?

That's a great point. Just before we forget, because I don't think we've mentioned this yet on previous ones. This is a great time of year. You know, sometimes you get like renewed credit cards or you lose a credit card and you replace it or that kind of thing.

• 5:49Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 5:49Travis McElroy?

Yeah. If you think you're a member, but you're not sure because the credit card changes over the last year, double check.

• 5:55Griffin McElroy?

And if it helps you sort of push forward on that, imagine like me coming to your door and knocking with a little like square, you know, card reader in my hand like, please. It went, you messed up and broke it. Please. If that helps at all, then imagine it.

• 6:12Travis McElroy?

Oh guys, before we get started on the show, I've just been handing something.

• 6:17Travis McElroy?

Farm haunted, farm haunted. It's haunted, it's a farm, farm haunted.

• 6:24Travis McElroy?

What the heck? What is this amalgam universe nonsense?

• 6:27Griffin McElroy?

I don't know about this, man.

• 6:28Travis McElroy?

Well, this was, this was sent into us, uh, by Braden. I'm gonna send you guys the image in Slack.

• 6:35Griffin McElroy?

Okay, hopefully not an entirely visual. Let's see.

• 6:38Travis McElroy?

There will be quite a bit of description in it.

• 6:40Griffin McElroy?

Okay, great. I love that. Thanks, Brad.

• 6:43Travis McElroy?

  Thanks, Brad.

• 6:44Griffin McElroy?

Cool. Awesome. Cool. So what we're looking at here, it looks like a custom 1992 horse's ass bar stool.

• 6:51Travis McElroy?

  Correct.

• 6:52Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 6:52Griffin McElroy?

And so what it is, is sort of imagine a horse, truncate it, an abbreviated horse, ending at the front haunches, no neck, no head.

• 7:03Travis McElroy?

Like if this was a centaur, all the human parts been removed.

• 7:07Travis McElroy?

But here's a really important thing, is that to make it make sense, they've put the front legs like way farther up on the body than you would kind of expect them. So it's like, it's not like there's just not a head. It's like there's not a front half and the legs scooted back to accommodate. It's really upsetting.

• 7:27Griffin McElroy?

If you're, if there is a procedure called a centarectomy, this would be what is left on the operating table floor, when the human torso and body and arms and head are liberated from these equine features.

• 7:38Travis McElroy?

Now, this is available for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

• 7:42Griffin McElroy?

  How much?

• 7:42Travis McElroy?

I have blocked out the price.

• 7:44Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 7:45Travis McElroy?

So Justin, if you were to read the description listed here.

• 7:49Travis McElroy?

Whoa, Nelly. One of a kind. Nothing like this on earth. This one of a kind, western style artist bar stool features horse legs, hooves, authentic horse tails, and a swivel in seat.

• 8:04Griffin McElroy?

  Can we pause?

• 8:05Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 8:07Griffin McElroy?

  Authentic horse tails?

• 8:08Travis McElroy?

I mean, oh, I certainly hope not.

• 8:12Travis McElroy?

Buddy, I think it's authentic horse tails and a swiveling seat. Completely handmade, hand carved and hand finished. Now, I wanted to touch on this. I did it this way. They are saying this to put aside your fears that maybe at some point there was a horse's ass stool factory that was just churning these bad boys out. No, no, no. This is not some off the assembly line horse's ass stool. This is hand, hand carved, handmade.

• 8:40Travis McElroy?

  Hand finished.

• 8:42Travis McElroy?

And signed by the artist. Grab a seat on your horse's tail bar stool and have yourself a drink.

• 8:48Travis McElroy?

What do you want to bet that that artist's signature is the first part of it just says, sorry about this? And this is a signature.

• 8:55Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, this is upsetting. I was in a dark, dark, dark divorce.

• 8:58Travis McElroy?

The other thing that I do want to touch on.

• 9:02Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 9:02Griffin McElroy?

Is this, is this fucking stool, man? I wouldn't mind rubbing my paws all over this.

• 9:06Travis McElroy?

No, it is the stool. It is, it is the fact that you, the reader have, the listener have at this point probably started to wonder about the Jennies.

• 9:14Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 9:14Travis McElroy?

And they have chickened out in a major way in either the photography or the stool. I don't know.

• 9:21Travis McElroy?

But I suspect it's the photography.

• 9:23Griffin McElroy?

Okay. They conspicuously did not show the under horse's genital area.

• 9:27Travis McElroy?

What I'm saying is from the photos provided, it could actually be hanging major horse dong. And that information is not provided to you, which I think is crazy to ask me to make a buy decision if I don't know if there's a big dong on it.

• 9:41Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. Yeah. That's a good point, Juice.

• 9:43Travis McElroy?

How do I set a price?

• 9:44Griffin McElroy?

I'll message the seller real quick. Is there, one, do you ship? Two.

• 9:51Travis McElroy?

You ship me and this stool together? So you have a fan?

• 9:55Travis McElroy?

  Are we OTP?

• 9:58Travis McElroy?

  Me and stool.

• 9:59Griffin McElroy?

Is this, is this gonna get me kicked out of my church bridge club if I, if I procure this item? And do you ship?

• 10:06Travis McElroy?

So if you guys had to put a price on this piece of art.

• 10:10Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 10:11Travis McElroy?

Travis, I'm going to say a number and like, I'm, I'm seeing a lot of different numbers, but for some reason.

• 10:19Travis McElroy?

  $1,200.

• 10:21Griffin McElroy?

  Wow.

• 10:22Travis McElroy?

  $1,200.

• 10:24Griffin McElroy?

Is it shitty if I say 1201? And then do I win the chair if I'm closer?

• 10:29Travis McElroy?

Is that your real guess, Griffin?

• 10:31Griffin McElroy?

I think it's considerably more than that. I'm going to say, I think that this stool costs $9,000.

• 10:39Travis McElroy?

  I think it's over 9,000!

• 10:41Griffin McElroy?

  It's a cut-

• 10:42Travis McElroy?

  Fucking good stuff!

• 10:44Griffin McElroy?

I- I think that this is a one of a kind piece, and I would be honored to have this in my home.

• 10:51Travis McElroy?

  Or so they say.

• 10:52Griffin McElroy?

$9,000 for what would become an heirloom of my dynasty?

• 10:58Travis McElroy?

This is an insane gap, Griffin. This is a, this is a gap that I don't know how he closes people. Like, our estimation on it is so far apart.

• 11:05Travis McElroy?

Well, Justin, what I've learned from Antiques Roadshow is art is worth what people will pay for it.

• 11:10Travis McElroy?

  Right.

• 11:11Travis McElroy?

So what we're hearing here is whatever the-

• 11:14Griffin McElroy?

I would pay, I would pay $300 for this if the shipping was reasonable. It, it's gonna cost $9,000.

• 11:23Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 11:24Travis McElroy?

Oh, you're saying with shipping included, okay. Well, originally, this was listed for $1,450.

• 11:30Griffin McElroy?

  Oh, shit.

• 11:30Travis McElroy?

But they did mark it down to $1,350 currently. I don't know what it's at now, it might be down to 1,200.

• 11:38Travis McElroy?

  That's astounding, guys.

• 11:40Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, we got a game of chicken on our hands now. Cause I, if shipping's reasonable, I would grab this bad boy if it gets down low enough. Now it's a waiting game, but someone's definitely gonna snatch it up before we do. Gosh, do you think there's a wealthy benefactor amongst our listenership? Who's gonna, one day, one of us will show up at the postbox and they'll be so fucking angry at us at the post office. Holy shit, they'll be mad.

• 12:01Travis McElroy?

I was hoping, Griffin, a little bit, hoping that there'd be like a ding dong.

• 12:06Travis McElroy?

  Pass whoever we're talking.

• 12:07Travis McElroy?

The prestige, Travis has delivered it. Whose, whose doorbell was it? Find out next time. Somebody owns this thing.

• 12:16Griffin McElroy?

Uh, hey, should we do a question?

• 12:18Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, let's-

• 12:19Travis McElroy?

  Let's do it.

• 12:22Travis McElroy?

Thank you, Braden. Thank you for that.

• 12:23Griffin McElroy?

  Thanks, Braden.

• 12:24Travis McElroy?

Thank you. That's right. That was, that was good.

• 12:28Griffin McElroy?

  We'll put it on Sushi.

• 12:29Travis McElroy?

Yeah, we'll put the image up on Sushi. My name is Elliot. I've been working at the same company for 11 years, but I've changed departments a few years ago. Since changing departments, I've climbed up the ladder. Last summer, my old boss hired a new employee from my old job and his name is Elliot. To be polite, I gave him the nickname Better Elliot so that I could keep Elliot.

• 12:50Griffin McElroy?

  Nice.

• 12:50Travis McElroy?

After a few months of calling him Better Elliot, my coworkers told me he's not the Better Elliot. He embellished a bit too much on his resume and he isn't getting along with his team and he's taking a bunch of time off from work. The problem I face is, should I keep calling him Better Elliot? And that's from Nick Nameless in Naperville.

• 13:09Griffin McElroy?

Um, initial gut reaction, it's not gonna, it's not gonna kill you to call a poor employee Better Elliot, but I do think there's a smooth transition out of it where one day you make him spill a big jug of water right on his pants and you say, more like, wetter Elliot.

• 13:26Travis McElroy?

  Oh, that's good.

• 13:26Griffin McElroy?

And you make sure lots of other people are around when you say that and you're gonna have to tell them ahead of time to bust up. So that later, when people call him Wetter Elliot, they can feel okay about it. He will, it will last a week before he's fired, it sounds like. Um, this, this issue will eventually sort of solve itself, but.

• 13:43Travis McElroy?

Is there a way to start saying it with an implied do at the beginning?

• 13:48Griffin McElroy?

  I was just.

• 13:48Travis McElroy?

  Do Better Elliot.

• 13:49Griffin McElroy?

  Oh, that's cool.

• 13:50Travis McElroy?

  Like.

• 13:51Griffin McElroy?

  Better Elliot.

• 13:52Travis McElroy?

The Better Elliot than you are now. Like comparatively, you are a Better Elliot than previously, which is, was quite a bad Elliot. We all agree. I think with enough prolonged eye contact and seriousness in the delivery of Better Elliot, you can really get across what you're trying to go for there. Um, next time.

• 14:14Travis McElroy?

Next time, I think your problem was differentiating yourself into discreet people. I think you would have just been better served to do also Elliot. And then you have a little bit of coverage, you both do, honestly. You shackled him with a lot of pressure.

• 14:30Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 14:30Travis McElroy?

You know, he didn't know anything. Day one, you said he's better than you at your job. Oof.

• 14:35Travis McElroy?

Maybe give him an introducing, right?

• 14:38Travis McElroy?

  Oh.

• 14:40Travis McElroy?

  An introducing Elliot.

• 14:42Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. Or you could call him Smelly it, since he's so bad in his job and stealing from you and your boss. And that's time crime. And I get, I get so pissed off and fired up about this stuff when people aren't doing good enough at their jobs and working hard enough at their jobs. And still demand to be called the better Elliot. It makes me sick.

• 15:01Travis McElroy?

I don't think the pressure should be on you to improve Elliot's work-life balance. I think what I would, my response would be, I'm going to keep being nice to this cat and you guys fire him or something because I can't deal with it.

• 15:16Travis McElroy?

I did everything I could, better Elliot.

• 15:18Travis McElroy?

  Right.

• 15:19Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 15:20Travis McElroy?

Elliot's foibles are your problem. I got out of that stinko department.

• 15:24Travis McElroy?

I want to jump back to something Griffin just said. I don't think better. I don't think better Elliot is demanding to be called better Elliot. I don't think that that's part of the problem, Griffin. I think that would be wild if I showed up, got a new job and there was another Travis. And I said, I know how to smooth this out. Just call me better Travis.

• 15:44Griffin McElroy?

Well, do you think that if someone called him regular old Elliot, he wouldn't be like, what the fuck is that supposed to mean? What's wrong? Am I not good enough for you anymore?

• 15:52Travis McElroy?

It's suddenly, it's making things very clear where the delineation lies. If you just go Elliot.

• 15:58Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. Why did your boss hire another Elliot?

• 16:02Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, that's on them.

• 16:03Griffin McElroy?

You can't keep working there. That is a great disrespect that has been placed literally upon your name.

• 16:09Travis McElroy?

Maybe that job has to always be held by an Elliot.

• 16:12Travis McElroy?

  Oh, it's a, it's a, it's a, one of those federal laws they got.

• 16:16Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 16:17Travis McElroy?

  One of those federal requirements.

• 16:19Griffin McElroy?

Maybe your boss is trying to hold up a mirror to you and your own job performance. As if to say, do you see now the bad Elliot? What a better job the bad Elliot could be doing? I brought bad Elliot here as a lesson to you. Pick up your performance, increase your sales, boost your.

• 16:39Griffin McElroy?

  Sales.

• 16:40Travis McElroy?

  Yep.

• 16:40Travis McElroy?

  Black screen Severance, season three.

• 16:43Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 16:43Griffin McElroy?

Oh, yeah. That would be so dope. People are like, how are they gonna do a third season of Severance? And you say, it's just two people named Elliot. They work the same company. Stakes are way, way lower. They can leave. They can hang out and go to TGI Fridays together. It's not a big deal.

• 16:59Travis McElroy?

Just start calling yourself Best Elliot.

• 17:01Griffin McElroy?

  That's cool.

• 17:02Travis McElroy?

  Oh. The guiding Elliot?

• 17:05Travis McElroy?

  Oh, Omega Elliot.

• 17:06Travis McElroy?

  The Elliot standard.

• 17:08Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, Elliot Prime.

• 17:10Travis McElroy?

Griffin, you were gonna say something about Elliot's?

• 17:12Griffin McElroy?

Uh, love them. Love them all. Can't go wrong. Gould, fucking crazy for it. Did you guys know that this is our? Yeah, sure.

• 17:19Travis McElroy?

  Yeah. TS?

• 17:21Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, baby. Too few L's, but that's because all he gets is W's. And so I'll say this, it is the second week of the Max Fun Drive.

• 17:30Travis McElroy?

  Oh, shit. What?

• 17:31Griffin McElroy?

We could, we could use your help in continuing to make and grow these shows. Uh, because of the support we have gotten from you all, we've been able to make this, first of all, our full-time jobs for a long time now. We have been able to, uh, hire a team of people who help us make stuff, uh, very regularly, even when our lives, uh, and parental duties get a little out of pocket. Um, and also we've been able to do a bunch more video stuff in the last year. We started Clubhouse, um, because we were able to hire someone to produce video stuff for us. So, um, when you donate to the Max Fun Drive, you can choose the shows that you listen to and support them incredibly directly. And that, that is the reason we're able to do this.

• 18:13Travis McElroy?

What Griffin is saying, correct. We've been able to dominate the digital space for the last 15 years. No one's doing it bigger or better than us. And that's because of you. But listen, there's room to grow. Are there podcasts on Mars? We don't know yet.

• 18:27Travis McElroy?

  Yep.

• 18:27Travis McElroy?

Scientists don't know if there's podcasts on Mars. And without your support, we're not gonna be able to find out. Do they have podcasts in Atlantis? Do turtles know about podcasts?

• 18:38Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 18:38Griffin McElroy?

  Probably not.

• 18:39Travis McElroy?

This is the kind of thing.

• 18:40Travis McElroy?

  Should we pivot to video?

• 18:42Travis McElroy?

We don't know. We're not sure.

• 18:45Griffin McElroy?

  About that one, man.

• 18:47Travis McElroy?

Yeah. Do turtles dream? These are all the things that we ask ourselves late at night when we're trying to sleep. And the only way you can help us to get a good night's sleep is by going to maximumfun.org/join. There's so many different ways to be a member. You can become a new member. You've never, you've never been a member before. New membership time. Awesome.

• 19:08Griffin McElroy?

If you do that, you are gonna get so much bonus content. You're gonna, your ears are gonna shit right in your headphones.

• 19:14Travis McElroy?

  Days, days of bonus content.

• 19:16Griffin McElroy?

  Days of it.

• 19:17Travis McElroy?

It may be weeks at this point, honestly. We've done videos on there. We've done audio. We've done commentary tracks. I legitimately, I think there's a commentary track for the movie Avatar.

• 19:27Griffin McElroy?

Correct. On there is one of the.

• 19:29Travis McElroy?

  And, and the TV show.

• 19:31Griffin McElroy?

  Yep.

• 19:32Travis McElroy?

That My Brother, My Brother and Me TV show.

• 19:33Griffin McElroy?

Six episodes, right? Commentary tracks for those. We auditioned for Hot Ones this year with, without, without being, you know, no one.

• 19:43Travis McElroy?

  No one asked.

• 19:44Griffin McElroy?

  No one asked for that.

• 19:46Travis McElroy?

It's like a cold call, but so spicy.

• 19:48Griffin McElroy?

It would be a huge, huge, huge break for us. So if you know any of the Hot Ones, guys.

• 19:52Travis McElroy?

  Oh, my God.

• 19:53Griffin McElroy?

Oh, my goodness. Um, but that, that won't happen for us. So please help us out. Maximumfun.org/join. At just five bucks a month, you get all the bonus content and there's other levels too, or you get other great gifts.

• 20:03Travis McElroy?

Yeah. As Griffin said, you can also upgrade. Maybe you've been five dollars for a while. Now you'll be $10. You've been $10 for a while. You can move up to 20.

• 20:10Travis McElroy?

Trav, if I go from five to $10, other than the bonus content, what do I, what do I get?

• 20:14Travis McElroy?

Thank you for asking, Justin. You're gonna get to choose a pin from a show on Max Fun. There's like 30 some pins on there to choose from.

• 20:22Griffin McElroy?

Really took a wild swing at that, didn't it?

• 20:24Travis McElroy?

I know, right? But it feels right.

• 20:25Griffin McElroy?

  You have no idea.

• 20:26Travis McElroy?

They're all gorgeous. I'm a big fan of the My Brother, My Brother and Me Trav Nation pin for obvious reasons. Uh, but there's a lot of really great ones on there and you'll have the warmth in your heart of knowing you were able to up your membership and support us a little bit more.

• 20:42Griffin McElroy?

You can also boost your membership by like a buck or two if you want to. You can pay for a whole year upfront. If you don't want a recurring charge, you can gift a membership to a, a dear loved one to make sure that they get the bonus content.

• 20:53Travis McElroy?

Or a bitter enemy if you hate our shit.

• 20:54Griffin McElroy?

Bitter enemy if you hate our shit. Well, no, don't do that because we would still benefit from that.

• 20:59Travis McElroy?

No, but that's what I'm saying. It's like the best way, an enemy of my enemy. And the best way to punish my enemy is to make them listen to the McElroy Brothers for free.

• 21:08Griffin McElroy?

Help, helps, please support us. Please help support us and the Max Fun Network. It's a wonderful community. We are honored to be staying strong with Max Fun for, I think this is our 14th Max Fun Drive, which is just wild. It's a wonderful organization. We own all of our shit because we are not part of some massive network that would want to control that. Max Fun is a co-op owned by its workers. It is a rad, rad thing to be a part of. And this is the last week of the drive. Last time we're gonna ask you for your help. Maximumfun.org/join.

• 21:41Travis McElroy?

I think if you look around, you can see what a major bummer it could be when stuff you love is owned by corporations. And your donations help to keep us away from that. And it's also a way of like voting for this being the kind of way you like to see media run. And we really appreciate that. And the fact that you've made this a sustainable model for us for so long means like so much. And thank you.

• 22:06Griffin McElroy?

  Thank you.

• 22:06Travis McElroy?

  Thank you.

• 22:07Travis McElroy?

Now, let's get back to the important work we do.

• 22:09Griffin McElroy?

  Please.

• 22:10Travis McElroy?

I'm on my way home from work and there's been an accident and the one and only highway I can take on the one and only highway I can take. They estimate it will be several hours until it's reopened. Traffic is moving, but it's a very, very slow crawl. I grabbed some chicken wings on my way. They're sitting next to me in the passenger seat. Thai chili flavor. I'm hungry, but I won't reach my destination for over an hour. Can I eat these sauced up beauties while in the driver's seat? Am I good? I'm alone in my vehicle, but surrounded by other drivers in bumper to bumper traffic. This is from commuter in Canada. So I should

• 22:50Travis McElroy?

start by saying, I don't know Canadian law. So this is not in any way, I don't know. I don't know the law. I don't want the Mounties. You don't need the RCMP.

• 23:02Travis McElroy?

I don't need the CRT. I've been reading some Canadian detective novels. Don't worry about it.

• 23:07Griffin McElroy?

I also don't know what Canadian chicken wing culture is like. Here it is in America. And this is one part of our, you know, The culture that I do think we have a bit of a leg up on for a lot of the world is that we not only it's okay to get sloppy, we like it.

• 23:24Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 23:24Griffin McElroy?

When we get really, really sloppy. In a car, in a, in a, you know, in the office, at a kid's birthday party, it's like great to get sloppy and we like it and people like it when you do it. So if you were here in the States, I'd say.

• 23:38Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, a hundred percent.

• 23:38Griffin McElroy?

  Yummy down.

• 23:39Travis McElroy?

Another thing about chicken wing culture in the States is that I meant to tell you guys the BW3s at the mall closed.

• 23:45Travis McElroy?

  No.

• 23:46Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 23:47Travis McElroy?

  Oh, man.

• 23:48Travis McElroy?

Our chicken wing culture is taking a lot of hard hits lately. They closed, Black Sheep closed, which has been tough for chicken wings lately.

• 23:56Griffin McElroy?

Knowing that the BW3s can't keep one open at the Huntington Mall, uh, makes me want to short the whole B-Dubs market.

• 24:05Travis McElroy?

  I know, man.

• 24:05Griffin McElroy?

It seems like the big crash is a coming, seems like.

• 24:09Travis McElroy?

It was so poorly run though, as a franchise, it was like really subpar.

• 24:13Griffin McElroy?

I talk shit, man. It's gone now. Talk shit.

• 24:15Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, dude, go off, King.

• 24:16Travis McElroy?

They can't deny you my pretzel rods anymore, cause they're closed. Nobody gets them there.

• 24:21Griffin McElroy?

They only had three flavors. One of them was salt. I don't think that this place was.

• 24:25Travis McElroy?

I had salt vinegar. They had salt and vinegar.

• 24:29Travis McElroy?

  Oh, never.

• 24:30Travis McElroy?

Yeah. Seven, you had to get one of the others.

• 24:33Travis McElroy?

And then they just had naked.

• 24:35Griffin McElroy?

On the front of the building, they spray painted buffalo wings and wieners and they sold hot dogs too with the sauce on it.

• 24:40Travis McElroy?

  Weird, man.

• 24:41Griffin McElroy?

Three types of sauce and the salt. So I don't think that this was a legitimate bit. They let dogs, they let dogs come inside and they would go fucking ape shit every time. I really don't think that they could, they said they were a veterinary office as well. I don't think that this was a real one.

• 24:57Travis McElroy?

  It wasn't.

• 24:57Travis McElroy?

  And I never saw.

• 24:58Travis McElroy?

Oh, sorry. I meant to tell you guys, the veterinary office is still functioning.

• 25:02Travis McElroy?

Okay. That is the, that's my favorite one to use when I'm in town. So that's.

• 25:05Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 25:07Travis McElroy?

So go back to the question. Can we agree that there's an important detail left out here that changes the game entirely, which is bone in or boneless?

• 25:15Travis McElroy?

Well, they say wings, so they're not boneless.

• 25:18Griffin McElroy?

  Well, boneless wings are.

• 25:20Travis McElroy?

Well, no, those are, those are nuggets. So.

• 25:23Travis McElroy?

I understand what you're saying, Justin, but I'm saying in the parlor.

• 25:26Griffin McElroy?

Don't, don't other Travis right now, like, we're all on the same page on this. It is a harsh reality of the world that we live in, that there are, there is boneless wings.

• 25:34Travis McElroy?

And I'm saying if you have a box of boneless wings and you can pop them in and move forward, no problem.

• 25:40Griffin McElroy?

If these were, if, if they were boneless, this person would not have fucking emailed us.

• 25:44Travis McElroy?

That's what I have to assume.

• 25:44Griffin McElroy?

  No way.

• 25:45Travis McElroy?

I'm gonna go to Boston Pizza, cuz I, that is the only.

• 25:48Travis McElroy?

Can you pick me up something while you're there?

• 25:49Travis McElroy?

No, that's the only chain I know, the only Canadian chain that might sell wings. So I just wanna know if boneless, cuz if, I'm hoping I might be able to pick something up from the question asker being from Canada, right? Uh, Famous Wings, Wings Combo. So they, they have wings on the menu and they do not specify.

• 26:11Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 26:11Travis McElroy?

  Bone in, right?

• 26:13Travis McElroy?

Then it is bone in. If you don't specify, it's bone in.

• 26:15Travis McElroy?

It, okay, so they, this would not occur to them, I think.

• 26:19Travis McElroy?

  Okay, here's, here's my reading.

• 26:21Travis McElroy?

The bones are in there. Now, we don't know, they do not have a breakup on drums or flats. And that for me is a question.

• 26:27Griffin McElroy?

Cuz you can, you can, of, a, a, a stick, you can.

• 26:31Travis McElroy?

A flat, you're working on that.

• 26:33Griffin McElroy?

  A flat is.

• 26:34Travis McElroy?

Flat, I, I, I gotta get my fingers in there with flat to get all the.

• 26:38Griffin McElroy?

  Hold the phone?

• 26:41Travis McElroy?

You're doing like a chiropractic adjustment?

• 26:44Travis McElroy?

So I gotta get my fingers in there for flat, guys. I got to.

• 26:48Griffin McElroy?

What's your, there's no way for me, this is a shame. There's no way for. It's a great shame. There is no way I can ask you to pantomime how you're popping out flats with that. No, no, no, no, no, no, you're close, you're close. You don't.

• 27:01Travis McElroy?

No, no, no, don't do it. This is a family show.

• 27:04Griffin McElroy?

You don't have to, no, no, no, no, you don't have to do it.

• 27:06Travis McElroy?

No, please, for the love of God.

• 27:08Griffin McElroy?

I'm operating, I'm operating, no, listen, I'm operating on so little sleep right now. And if you do that, I'm gonna bust up and then the video will be me busting up at you doing.

• 27:17Travis McElroy?

Say it, I get it. As a professional, as a professional courtesy to you.

• 27:22Griffin McElroy?

  Show me the courtesy, please.

• 27:23Travis McElroy?

I'm not gonna do the funnier thing on this podcast now.

• 27:25Travis McElroy?

I am as a professional courtesy gonna move.

• 27:27Travis McElroy?

  But I can.

• 27:27Travis McElroy?

We can just say Georgia O'Keefe would approve of the way that Justin activates his.

• 27:32Travis McElroy?

And then you can't say that Travis, this is not our place.

• 27:35Griffin McElroy?

For the and for just like your mental picture, like as long as we're just kind of giving people something to think about later.

• 27:41Travis McElroy?

  Something to talk about.

• 27:42Griffin McElroy?

Just I'm imagining that you are using the finger that the TV fell on and squished. And so it's your like little flat finger and you're like, it's flatter. It helps get in the crevices and creases, but as you put your own little fucking frosting spreader cake spatula in there and.

• 27:58Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 27:59Griffin McElroy?

Travis, what's your style with a flat wing, brother?

• 28:01Travis McElroy?

  I break it apart, babe.

• 28:03Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, I break it apart too, because there's no other great option visually.

• 28:07Travis McElroy?

I know that I am perceived visually by other human beings and so I'm.

• 28:12Griffin McElroy?

  It's tough.

• 28:12Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 28:14Griffin McElroy?

  I know.

• 28:15Travis McElroy?

The problem is you get sauce on your fingers and then you gotta quick turn the wheel or whatever.

• 28:20Travis McElroy?

I can't tell you guys, the truth is, the truth is, it feels mean to break it. It just seems mean. It makes me feel like a big bear, like some sort of big mean bear.

• 28:32Travis McElroy?

So you're being polite, you're being.

• 28:33Travis McElroy?

I'm being dignified, man. I'm being tasteful, right?

• 28:37Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 28:38Travis McElroy?

You're showing some respect to a fallen opponent.

• 28:41Travis McElroy?

I have a place in the great web. Just like Arachne said in Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark.

• 28:47Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 28:47Travis McElroy?

We all have a place in the great web and I'm trying to play my role in it.

• 28:51Travis McElroy?

Line of dialogue. Chicken looking down from Valhalla, seeing you just absolutely defiling its bones.

• 28:59Travis McElroy?

  Right?

• 28:59Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 28:59Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 29:00Griffin McElroy?

It's like, um, it's like when the lawyer gets chomped in half in Jurassic Park, he's probably like, his ghost is like, unnecessarily like you didn't need to do, you didn't need to do all that. You don't need this chicken's judgment on you. Um, yeah, if it's wings, you can one hand those. You can't one hand a flat. So is that an option? Can we compromise here? And say just you can eat the, the sticks, but not the flats.

• 29:24Travis McElroy?

  Drums but not flat.

• 29:26Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. I want you to keep a hand on the wheel. We have a lot of fun here and we should, but I do.

• 29:30Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 29:30Griffin McElroy?

I do, I do need you to have one hand on the wheel here, one. Non slippery hand on the wheel. Um, cause that bad boy might go.

• 29:37Travis McElroy?

Wet hand, dry hand. Wet hand, dry hand.

• 29:38Griffin McElroy?

Wet hand, dry hand, right? Your wet hands for your wings, your dry hands for your driving.

• 29:42Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, 100%.

• 29:43Griffin McElroy?

Otherwise your 10 might slip down to a seven. All of a sudden you're in the fucking guardrail.

• 29:48Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 29:48Griffin McElroy?

And that's a tragedy and they're going to put in your obituary. This dipshit died trying to eat slippery, sloppery buffalo wings while driving 96 miles an hour down the Canadian highway.

• 30:00Travis McElroy?

Well, they are in bumper to bumper traffic.

• 30:03Griffin McElroy?

The point stands, the point remains.

• 30:06Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 30:06Travis McElroy?

Does it? That's so interesting because I did not, that was not my sense.

• 30:09Travis McElroy?

And keep an eye out, keep an eye out for a scenic overlook. That maybe you could pull off on it and like really admire Canada's beauty and splendor while you chat out on some Thai chili wings.

• 30:19Griffin McElroy?

It fucking rips ass that not eating the wings has not even been.

• 30:25Travis McElroy?

  No, man.

• 30:26Griffin McElroy?

We have addressed it. You can't let them get, I mean, they'll still be good cold, but.

• 30:31Travis McElroy?

And but you also, the, the powerful scent, the aroma lifting you up and carrying you over to your passenger seat is too powerful for that. They're only human after all.

• 30:42Travis McElroy?

  But what about like?

• 30:45Travis McElroy?

What if that if they're super spicy? You know, like you don't think they're going to be that spicy, but what if it's like.

• 30:50Travis McElroy?

  You turn into a car?

• 30:51Griffin McElroy?

Inside a car explodes the, the outer car.

• 30:54Travis McElroy?

You destroy your car. Cause you turned into a car inside your car.

• 30:58Griffin McElroy?

  If you eat spicy food.

• 30:59Travis McElroy?

Your eyes go all wet and you're like, ah, I can't see.

• 31:02Travis McElroy?

And don't wipe your eyes for the love of God. If you do, do it with your dry hand.

• 31:06Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. It's a good point, Juice.

• 31:09Travis McElroy?

  It's dangerous.

• 31:09Travis McElroy?

  I'm just saying it's dangerous.

• 31:11Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. Why'd you get the, why did you get such wet food? Should have thought about that, that you had to drive ahead of you.

• 31:17Travis McElroy?

That's why you gotta get the dry rub for the drive home.

• 31:21Travis McElroy?

Drive, dry rub for the drive home.

• 31:23Travis McElroy?

Yeah. And then you can enjoy the sloppy boys in the comfort and seclusion of your own home where you will not be perceived by other human beings at which way, go wild, man.

• 31:32Griffin McElroy?

You could pick up the world's chillest hitchhiker and be like, hey, where are you heading? Tucson? Great.

• 31:40Griffin McElroy?

I don't trust you to operate this car. It is mine. Can you hold these buffalo wings up to my mouth, turn them like a corn cob and snap my bones when I need you to? I know this seems like something a killer would have you, that a killer would ask you to do. That's not me, that's not my journey.

• 31:54Travis McElroy?

And you're not a killer either, right?

• 31:56Griffin McElroy?

  I do think.

• 31:57Travis McElroy?

I said snap my bones and I need to see how you feel about that.

• 32:01Griffin McElroy?

  Mm hmm.

• 32:01Travis McElroy?

Do you guys drive and eat?

• 32:03Travis McElroy?

You guys ever driven and eaten?

• 32:05Griffin McElroy?

  I'll never.

• 32:05Travis McElroy?

  Tell me it's a podcast.

• 32:06Travis McElroy?

Maybe a rap from time to time.

• 32:09Griffin McElroy?

Have I ever driven a car while eating a food?

• 32:12Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 32:13Griffin McElroy?

Have I ever done these two activities that I do?

• 32:16Travis McElroy?

  Car eating a burger?

• 32:17Griffin McElroy?

These two activities I do every single day. Have they ever, have their paths ever crossed?

• 32:24Travis McElroy?

I guess what I was asking is if you're going through a drive through, your wife's in the passenger seat and you get something super sloppy, like a super sloppy.

• 32:31Travis McElroy?

I don't get something super sloppy.

• 32:33Griffin McElroy?

  If I'm dropping, driving.

• 32:34Travis McElroy?

But what if you did? So like, if you do get something super sloppy, do you want her to wrap the sandwich in the wrapper to protect the components?

• 32:43Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 32:44Travis McElroy?

Do you want the wrapper to be gone? Do you want to be working without a wrapper?

• 32:49Travis McElroy?

No, I work with a net and I will occasionally hand it back to my wife to ask her to peel it down a little bit like I'm a child.

• 32:57Griffin McElroy?

  That's awesome, man.

• 32:58Travis McElroy?

So I can keep a steady hand on the wheel.

• 33:01Travis McElroy?

Yeah, but listen, here's my problem, man. I can't negotiate with a wrapper and drive a car.

• 33:07Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 33:07Travis McElroy?

You know what I mean? I gotta go for it.

• 33:09Travis McElroy?

I have to assume that the wrapper isn't toxic or they wouldn't put it on my food. So if I get a little nibble in there with the bite, if I get a little nibble.

• 33:19Travis McElroy?

  A little bit.

• 33:21Griffin McElroy?

I remember how stoked I was when Burger King started doing chicken fries because I was like, those are so, I could do those no hand. I could reach down like a big, a big bird and just pop one up, flip it in my mouth. Whoop, one shot.

• 33:33Travis McElroy?

In a dispenser like Garth had in the Mirth mobile for red licorice. She just reached up.

• 33:38Griffin McElroy?

I'm gonna have to chew it and maybe accidentally close my eyes too much to see the vehicle stop in front of me on the highway. Uh oh, my life is saved because of Burger King's chicken fries.

• 33:48Travis McElroy?

Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop. What the heck?

• 33:52Griffin McElroy?

  You really pledged me there.

• 33:54Travis McElroy?

What do you mean? Were you about to do another pledge break?

• 33:57Travis McElroy?

  Now he's talking about pledging.

• 33:59Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, because you took a big breath and then you didn't do the boop a boop sound for such a long time. It was crass and crude, but.

• 34:05Travis McElroy?

  It got him rock hard.

• 34:10Travis McElroy?

Haunted Doll Watch. I just wanted to mention, I like to check in on this space from time to time because I kind of created it and then it got so crowded that I had to move out of it.

• 34:19Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 34:20Travis McElroy?

Just to be real with you guys.

• 34:21Griffin McElroy?

Is that you throwing shade at Travis for doing a haunted farm watch?

• 34:24Travis McElroy?

No, no, no. That's shade. That's shade at everybody else.

• 34:27Griffin McElroy?

  Doing haunted doll stuff?

• 34:29Travis McElroy?

Got wanting to get into haunted doll stuff where we were already there. So I had to leave. We got a little crowded at that corner of the beach. Funny beach as I call it.

• 34:39Travis McElroy?

  But I did.

• 34:39Griffin McElroy?

I mean, you're lucky. My, my funny beaches keep closing. My funny beaches keep, keep eroding from the face of the earth.

• 34:46Travis McElroy?

This fucking, I've had a lot of jellyfish, dead jellyfish watch up on my funny beach, which is upsetting. I just wanted to show you guys real quick. This is a haunted doll vessel, Teeny the Tiny Witch.

• 34:58Griffin McElroy?

I like Teeny the Tiny. Why would you, how dare you show me an auction for one of these that is closed already? How dare you show me this?

• 35:05Travis McElroy?

I didn't know this is a space we're getting into. Meet Teeny, the tiniest, member of the gnome group embarking on a mystical journey of witchcraft. As a novice, Teeny is still in training, but her innate abilities often propel her beyond her level.

• 35:18Griffin McElroy?

Wait, wishlist, wishlist now on Steam. You gotta get Teeny the Tiny, Tiny Witch Doll.

• 35:23Travis McElroy?

So you're offering to sell me a newbie unpredictable witch?

• 35:29Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 35:30Travis McElroy?

  No.

• 35:31Travis McElroy?

It says hailing from an unknown realm, which I like. If we knew where Teeny witches came from, I would hope that we would be.

• 35:39Griffin McElroy?

  Living there only.

• 35:40Travis McElroy?

Yeah, we'd be spreading that information around.

• 35:42Travis McElroy?

What I love about this posting, Justin, is so far there's been nothing to seem to indicate that it is a spirit possessing a statue, but rather the statue itself is a gnome from a different dementia.

• 35:58Griffin McElroy?

That's an evolution of the form. I like that.

• 36:01Travis McElroy?

She has these superpowers. Okay, please. Teeny connects with others on a profound level, offering compassionate guidance and support. She has natural healing. She immends emotional, spiritual and physical wounds with her innate healing powers. Intuitive insight. She receives guidance from the spiritual realm realm. Uh, four, she has protective instincts. Five, nature affinity. Six.

• 36:22Travis McElroy?

Wait, does that just mean she likes nature?

• 36:24Griffin McElroy?

No, it means if you use a fire affinity witch against her, she takes 20 extra damage.

• 36:28Travis McElroy?

  Oh, yeah. Okay.

• 36:29Travis McElroy?

Recognizing the connectedness of all living things in the cycles of nature. That's what nature affinity is, which like, I think you could do that without it being a superpower, but whatever.

• 36:36Travis McElroy?

That also sounds like something someone would say to you and you'd roll your eyes really hard if they were like, unlike other people, I recognize the connection of things. And you're like, cool, Teeny. Yeah, all right. Yeah, I got it.

• 36:47Travis McElroy?

Together, Teeny and her partner will weave a tapestry of love, magic and wonder, deepening their connection with each other and the world around them. She has also expressed if her character isn't a witch, it's okay.

• 37:00Travis McElroy?

  Ah, that's overthought.

• 37:01Travis McElroy?

  Guide and learn together.

• 37:03Griffin McElroy?

How are they gonna slip in there that there's a bodo and they're not gonna tell us about the bonus doll?

• 37:07Travis McElroy?

Okay, so I, I was struck by that too, Griffin. I think that they are saying that if you buy this doll, you are now Teeny's partner.

• 37:15Griffin McElroy?

Ah, I got so fucking excited. I thought that they were saying there's a secret, like slime bag bonus.

• 37:21Travis McElroy?

Yeah, like extra one. I wanted to give you guys all the angles. They really captured a lot of angles.

• 37:27Griffin McElroy?

Jesus Christ, I could, I mean, I can model this thing in fucking Blender now. I don't need.

• 37:31Travis McElroy?

  Look how tiny Teeny is.

• 37:32Griffin McElroy?

  Teeny's really, really.

• 37:33Travis McElroy?

They put a penny on there or no?

• 37:36Griffin McElroy?

It's not a penny. It's an ancient, it might be a.

• 37:39Travis McElroy?

Why is Teeny whistling? Um, that's, she's screaming. She just is too little to know how. Cool. Yeah.

• 37:46Travis McElroy?

That's a horrifying thought you just said, Justin.

• 37:49Travis McElroy?

I know. The, uh, yeah, but she sold for $34.88. Uh, now it does say on here, please understand, I've had to increase my shipping fee to include better packaging. Plus the cost of shipping has gone up. For fragile items, $12 to $14 is the average because I double box the delivery services aren't gentle. I will work with you on multiple items and give a shipping discount. How magical are these things that they can't at least guarantee safe shipping from A to B?

• 38:17Travis McElroy?

I, I have purchased things online before and they've come damaged and shipping. And if you couple that with the knowledge that not only is the item I bought damaged from shipping, but my new witch partner is dead, I think I would be pretty, pretty shad racked by that information.

• 38:34Griffin McElroy?

Also, Justin, shipping haunted dolls has gotten much harder because of all the scarifs.

• 38:46Travis McElroy?

Oh, Griffin, your Griffin, your political humor is really evolved. It's really good, Griffin.

• 38:54Griffin McElroy?

  Fuck, man.

• 38:55Travis McElroy?

  I'm so proud of you.

• 38:55Travis McElroy?

I teach eighth grade science in Washington. It's been cold and I really got into wearing cozy sweaters during the school year. I had a rotation of five or six sweaters that I just went through during our cold, dark months. It became so much of a thing that students started calling me Sweater Boy. With the weather improving, how do I make the switch back to wearing my other clothes without letting the eighth graders feel like they've won and bullied me out of wearing the sweaters I love so much? And that is from, I mean, it says here Sweater Boy, that's not me editorializing.

• 39:22Travis McElroy?

This is, this is, I want to say this shows the power of like, uh, preteens and teens in mocking, where my first thought was like Sweater Boy is not that creative. And then I started saying it to myself, like someone was saying it to me. And by the nature of it being so simple and not creative, it does imply a like, this doesn't even deserve like a fun play on words or whatever. You're just Sweater Boy.

• 39:47Griffin McElroy?

To be reduced down to such a, to such a primordial kind of component is like you, they see me for nothing else. Other than my long.

• 39:56Travis McElroy?

Not even Sweater Man or Professor Sweater or something.

• 39:59Griffin McElroy?

  Professor Sweater hits so good.

• 40:00Travis McElroy?

No, but the like, the, if you're gonna level a, if you're gonna make a nickname stick with a teacher, it's gotta be that sort of banal. That like, there's nothing in the name necessarily that where they're letting you know that they don't like it. So like, if you try to take them in the principal, they're gonna be like, I mean Sweater, he wears sweaters.

• 40:20Travis McElroy?

What do you mean they call you Sweater Boy? But you're not there when they say it. You don't know the tone.

• 40:26Travis McElroy?

Yeah, they say it to my face. Well, yeah, but why do they?

• 40:28Travis McElroy?

They call me Fuckwad. Come on, man.

• 40:31Travis McElroy?

Sweater Boy is not that bad.

• 40:32Travis McElroy?

My name. Yeah, my name is Fuqwad. It's French.

• 40:40Travis McElroy?

Yeah, I, I think that where, where you sort of, the first time someone said sweater boy, you should have taken it off. Because if people notice what you're wearing, you've gone wrong. That's my fashion thing.

• 40:51Travis McElroy?

Can you imagine, Justin, if the first time someone saw you wearing a sweater, they said sweater boy, and instantly took it off?

• 40:59Travis McElroy?

That person, that's pretty darn, pretty darn close to how I would probably react, to be honest.

• 41:04Travis McElroy?

I think that if you did that to me, like if I said sweater boy and you took it off, I would feel a crushing weight of responsibility of the power I had over a other human being. Not just in that moment, but maybe make me second guess every interaction I would ever have again with someone ever. That I might comment on, nice shoes, and then they take off their shoes, right? Or something along those lines. That's too much power you're giving.

• 41:29Travis McElroy?

Yeah. What's hard is the next day, once word gets around, like, hey, it's starting to become a thing. And like, I want to tell you, the other students, this isn't me, sir, but the other students are really starting to notice the sweater a lot. I feel like one of the students should have given you an out earlier on. Like, just to let you know that it was building. Cause the fact that you let the sort of, the rep build to this point where it's like canonical?

• 41:57Travis McElroy?

Cause that didn't happen on the first time you wore a sweater.

• 42:00Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 42:01Travis McElroy?

Maybe you could just switch the sweater vests, right? Make a slow transition out of it. Ooh, ooh. Put a little like loose nail hammered into your desk. Catch the edge of your sweater on it. Continue moving around the room for the day. Let the sweater slowly unravel.

• 42:17Travis McElroy?

Be wearing, be wearing something under.

• 42:20Travis McElroy?

Important. Like a funny shirt that says like, the sweater is dead.

• 42:24Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 42:24Travis McElroy?

Like sweater boy is dead. I'm T-shirt man now.

• 42:28Travis McElroy?

As someone who was in a very similar situation to this, and has been in a similar situation to this, uh, the better play for the students would have been to start subtly hinting that they can smell your sweater. Because it, you really, it's such a gigantic pain in the ass to wash a sweater, right? I've got sweaters upstairs where it said lay flat. I don't have anywhere in my house to lay a sweater flat.

• 42:54Travis McElroy?

You don't have a fucking flat surface in your home?

• 42:57Travis McElroy?

I had to clean off the dining room table. Yeah, man. Somewhere where cats wouldn't pee. I don't know.

• 43:02Travis McElroy?

  Fair, fair, fair.

• 43:03Travis McElroy?

That doesn't exist in that house. I know. Yeah. Hey, careful pal.

• 43:08Travis McElroy?

That's my, that's my prison you're talking about.

• 43:11Travis McElroy?

  Pissing.

• 43:12Travis McElroy?

  I was.

• 43:13Travis McElroy?

  Pissing, no, but you.

• 43:16Travis McElroy?

Um, that, so it is such a pain. So you wear them and you're like, I don't, I, you know, it's always a shirt underneath. Like I always have like a T-shirt or something underneath. And then I think, well, I don't need to wash the sweater right now. So the students started like.

• 43:30Travis McElroy?

Oh, you guys, hmm, smells a little bit like sweater. You're like a little bit like a, do you guys smell like a musty sweater?

• 43:36Griffin McElroy?

Like a sweater. Yeah, that could work. I was trying to think of ways to retaliate. A teacher could retaliate against a student that would be still funny. And not upsetting. And I think that what I've landed on is if people call you sweater boy in a way that you're uncomfortable with. You kind of sigh and you walk to the door of the classroom and open it up and you wheel in the AV cart. And you say, well, we were gonna watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, but I guess that that movie's actually only for good behaved kids. And you push it right out of the room and you say, sorry, maybe tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow, if you can keep your, your cruel barbs, uh, to yourself, then we'll finally get to finish Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. I heard he dies at the end of it.

• 44:19Travis McElroy?

Could you find like 30, I got, however many kids are in your class, smaller, exact, like child sized duplicates of your sweater? And you bring them in one day and you hand them out to everybody and now they're also sweater boys. And you're in sweat, and then you're gonna get some kind of like photo posted on an inspirational Instagram of like,

• 44:39Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 44:40Travis McElroy?

Teacher figured out his kids were so jealous of his sweater that he got sweaters for all of them. And taught them to be little gentlemen or whatever. Those always get on there.

• 44:50Griffin McElroy?

I always forget if teacher is one of those jobs that has enough expendable income to buy 30 sweaters for a goof or.

• 44:57Travis McElroy?

Child sized sweaters, Griffin. They don't cost as much as you, of the human sized sweaters.

• 45:02Griffin McElroy?

  Whoa.

• 45:02Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 45:03Griffin McElroy?

  Yikes, man.

• 45:04Travis McElroy?

I have some Freudian slip that apparently reveals how I feel.

• 45:07Griffin McElroy?

  Yikes. Um.

• 45:09Travis McElroy?

  Kids aren't fully formed humans.

• 45:11Griffin McElroy?

I think kids are humans. Uh.

• 45:13Travis McElroy?

Hey, science is out, man. Do turtles dream?

• 45:15Griffin McElroy?

It is. I don't, you're really stuck on that, man.

• 45:18Travis McElroy?

  I can't stop thinking.

• 45:19Travis McElroy?

I think about it a lot.

• 45:20Travis McElroy?

I can't stop thinking about it. What do turtles dream about?

• 45:24Travis McElroy?

I bet they dream about bringing in big returns this year for the Max Fun Drive. No.

• 45:30Travis McElroy?

You don't think turtles dream about that?

• 45:33Travis McElroy?

I wanna this, you know, we're not quite at the end of the episode, but we're headed that way. And this is the second, my brother, my brother and me. So I wanted to take a chance before we wrapped up to tell everybody how much your support over the years and on this Max Fun Drive means to us. We take this pretty seriously and it means a lot to us, seeing people show up for the live streams that we do, seeing people comment on like Instagram posts that they upgraded or became a new member or boosted or whatever they were able to do. It's a very good reminder that the stuff that we do matters to people and it reminds us, you know, of that there's people out there that enjoy the thing that we bring

• 46:17Travis McElroy?

some joy to. And it's one of my favorite times of the year to be able to make all this extra stuff, not just the bonus content, but also live streams and posts and everything like that, to kind of deepen that connection.

• 46:32Travis McElroy?

Yeah, it's really, it's, it's, it's also a good time. I always feel really grateful this time of year and, and I wanted to express that as well. Because in like all the asking for stuff, I also want to recognize how many people have, have done this for many years and I really appreciate it. If you have maybe started to listen to some new shows or maybe listening a little bit more, your financial situation chase, whatever, maybe what if you could do about $20 a month? In addition to the, the pin and the bonus content, we've also got a pretty freaking incredible towel, a beach for the stars towel illustrated by Paul G. Hammond. It's gorgeous. It's fantastic. And or there's a bucket hat if you don't

• 47:14Travis McElroy?

want the towel, but I think you probably would want the towel.

• 47:18Travis McElroy?

  You always need a towel.

• 47:19Travis McElroy?

Probably want the towel. That's the route that I would go. But the important thing is not the gifts. It's that you're saying, hey, I like when, I like when my media cares about people. I like when the stuff I make is beholden to the people who listen to it and not to, to big money corporate interests or the government.

• 47:36Travis McElroy?

Are there a lot of government podcasts?

• 47:38Travis McElroy?

  A lot of government.

• 47:39Travis McElroy?

  Oh, man.

• 47:40Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 47:41Griffin McElroy?

These days. It is. I mean, the thing is, is the way that.

• 47:44Travis McElroy?

I do one for the West Virginia Department of Transportation.

• 47:47Griffin McElroy?

  Oh, yeah?

• 47:47Travis McElroy?

  So boring. Yeah.

• 47:49Griffin McElroy?

  Okay, cool, man.

• 47:49Travis McElroy?

But I make $10,000 an episode.

• 47:52Griffin McElroy?

Well, don't fucking say that now. Don't say that during. Not now. Listen, we all, we all get a lot.

• 47:57Travis McElroy?

Government. Don't worry about it, guys.

• 47:58Griffin McElroy?

We all get a lot of money from the left dot, but let's keep that shit under wraps until maybe next week.

• 48:03Travis McElroy?

The, in all seriousness, the way that Max Fun, uh, the funding works and the way that like, not just the ownership of the shows and the ownership of the network is completely unique to podcast networks from what I've found and talked to other people about. And this thing of like, it being a pretty tight closed loop of like listeners and hosts and creators and the workers of Max Fun feels very unique and special.

• 48:29Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 48:29Travis McElroy?

And on our ability to just make stuff that we like for the people that like it is so unique and it wouldn't be possible without support from you guys.

• 48:39Griffin McElroy?

Genuinely would not be possible. You, if, if this is the only show you listen to, you may not be aware of this, but if you listen to other McElroy shows, you probably know that the podcast ad market is in pretty much the worst spot I've seen it in my long illustrious podcasting career. Uh, where we don't run a lot of ads on other shows that aren't my brother, my brother and me. Uh, but fortunately, because of the support we get from you all, we are able to stay solvent and, uh, keep paying people to help us, help us out and keep making more stuff. And it's not, we're not asking you to just do this for free. The bonus content, if you've never heard it, is, is wild. You gotta hear Pranky Doodle Dandy. You gotta hear Plato's rave. You gotta do all that.

• 49:16Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 49:16Travis McElroy?

  You gotta hear my sister-in-law.

• 49:18Travis McElroy?

  My sister-in-law and me.

• 49:19Griffin McElroy?

You gotta hear that. You got, if you listen to Taz, the three, the Charlie verse trilogy of D and D sessions scripted by Justin's, uh, oldest daughter are all just, it's all unstoppable content. And so you, you, you get a lot of great stuff, uh, and you know that you, you support the, the shows that you like, uh, for, for, you know, starting just five bucks a month.

• 49:41Travis McElroy?

If you're already a, a supporter, by the way, and you, you haven't checked out your best content and you've forgotten how, maybe you can go to maximumfun.org/ how. To Boko.

• 49:50Griffin McElroy?

We are going to be streaming every day for the rest of this week. We streamed every day last week too. We have some stretch goals that we've released. If you're a member of the Max Fun Network, you can watch our Hot Ones video. The full video is now up in the Boko feed. If we can get up to 8,000 new upgrading boosting members, we're going to release an old video of Travis playing Conrad Bertie from Bye Bye Bertie on an upcoming Clubhouse, hopefully alongside one of Justin.

• 50:19Travis McElroy?

Yeah, we've already hit that one.

• 50:20Griffin McElroy?

  We already hit that one.

• 50:22Travis McElroy?

I've invested in a pretty pricey disc resurfacing machine to keep the flow coming.

• 50:30Travis McElroy?

  The embarrassment spice pipeline coming.

• 50:32Griffin McElroy?

We're leaving it all out on the court this for the for the rest of this week and then we're going to go back to the usual amount of effort that you.

• 50:39Travis McElroy?

  That we can sustain.

• 50:41Griffin McElroy?

That is sustainable as as content creators. But yeah, this is our last episode of a Bim Bam where we're going to ask you to help us out. So maximumfun.org/join if you're thinking about it, do it now before you forget and help us keep the keep the goof train on the tracks because otherwise it will crash.

• 51:02Travis McElroy?

  Sorry.

• 51:06Travis McElroy?

  I want a munch.

• 51:07Griffin McElroy?

  Squad.

• 51:08Travis McElroy?

Griffin, I'm sorry, I can't sing the song. Talk to me about your reaction to the Munch Squad theme song as you as you just sort of like, it was more like a oh, like a like.

• 51:17Griffin McElroy?

Oh, was it like a oh, my gosh.

• 51:19Travis McElroy?

Like a stain on your shirt you hadn't noticed.

• 51:21Travis McElroy?

You were making quite a face, Justin, maybe in the ramping up to it.

• 51:24Griffin McElroy?

  It was again, you.

• 51:25Travis McElroy?

That's not part of it. As I try this for us.

• 51:30Griffin McElroy?

We have to see you, Justin. We have to see you. And sometimes we'll react to things that only we can see. You don't have to hang a big lantern on.

• 51:37Travis McElroy?

As I've, as I've told my.

• 51:38Griffin McElroy?

You look like you're having a heart attack and we're dying on the show.

• 51:41Travis McElroy?

Too much of my precious little energy lately, trying to mask my emotional state at any given moment. So don't. So as I told Sydney, my face isn't part of it, right?

• 51:51Travis McElroy?

  Oh, okay, cool.

• 51:53Travis McElroy?

My face isn't a part of it. I can't do that right now. Okay.

• 51:56Griffin McElroy?

  Right.

• 51:57Travis McElroy?

  Listen.

• 52:00Travis McElroy?

Yeah. Guys, they fucking did it.

• 52:03Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 52:04Travis McElroy?

Guys, McDonald's did it. And we've been waiting for them to do it, but they did it.

• 52:09Travis McElroy?

  They did it?

• 52:10Travis McElroy?

  A dog had meals, man.

• 52:12Griffin McElroy?

Wait a second. Wait a second.

• 52:16Griffin McElroy?

Adult, I thought what you were showing us is that these, they got these awesome Minecraft meals. I was like, great. I didn't put together that they were doing these damn things for grown folks as well. That is-

• 52:26Travis McElroy?

So, right. So there is the normal kids Happy Meal, which we all love and revere. But now we've got a Minecraft movie meal.

• 52:36Travis McElroy?

Wait, you've just blown my mind, Justin. I didn't know till right this second that the article associated with Minecraft movie was a Minecraft movie.

• 52:44Griffin McElroy?

  Oh, baby, you know.

• 52:46Travis McElroy?

So, Trav, this is actually, let's talk about that for a second. I think they're calling it a Minecraft movie to emphasize the sort of open source collaborative nature of Minecraft.

• 52:57Griffin McElroy?

  Yes, for sure.

• 52:59Travis McElroy?

Maybe we should have a Minecraft movie as well. Yeah. A different Minecraft movie to kind of honor that open source collaborative nature of Minecraft.

• 53:09Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 53:10Griffin McElroy?

And maybe also my theory is that it was called the Minecraft movie until a single focus group got plopped down in front of that trailer. And they were like, maybe we shouldn't put all our eggs in this one particularly hugely upsetting looking basket.

• 53:25Travis McElroy?

Yes. So we could have, maybe the, the last, the Ghostbusters movie could have been a Ghostbusters reboot. And then after that is a Ghostbusters reboot. It's just, it's just one of them.

• 53:36Griffin McElroy?

  The same one. Yeah.

• 53:38Travis McElroy?

So let me tell you about this meal because we do have the kids option that has a Minecraft toy. Uh, from crafting pixel perfect replicas of our golden arches and world famous menu items to stacking block upon block into full on restaurants. Fans have been building their love for McDonald's into Minecraft for years.

• 53:56Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 53:57Travis McElroy?

Now, inspired by their imagination and the global big screen adventure, a Minecraft movie debuting in theaters on April 4th. We're bringing the game cinematic world to McDonald's, introducing a Minecraft movie meal and a Minecraft movie Happy Meal. Dropping together for the first time ever at McDonald's nationwide, starting April 1st. Don't worry.

• 54:18Griffin McElroy?

  I'm worried, man.

• 54:19Travis McElroy?

  It's not a joke.

• 54:20Griffin McElroy?

Hey, if you you tell me, you tell me grown up Happy Meals launching April 1st. Uh, my head's a little too on swivel to get fooled again.

• 54:28Travis McElroy?

Justin, I might be asking you to jump ahead a little bit. And in fact, I am because is this actually a grown up Happy Meal? Or is this just a combo meal which they've done before? Is there a toy?

• 54:40Travis McElroy?

Oh, well, Travis, allow me to answer that with affirmative. Yes, first off, I will have to say, Travis, Chicken McNuggets Meal. If you get the, there's a 10 piece McNuggets Meal or a Big Mac. You can go either way. If you get the nuggets, you can spice that up with Nether Flame Sauce, a limited edition hot sauce, a sauce inspired by the nether with crushed red pepper and flaming cayenne balanced with hints of garlic and sweetness, much like the nether itself.

• 55:06Griffin McElroy?

  Right.

• 55:07Travis McElroy?

Families and our youngest fans can also enjoy a Minecraft movie Happy Meal featuring one of 12 film inspired toys, whatever. We don't care about this. A Minecraft movie meal.

• 55:17Griffin McElroy?

I should say that I do care about it a great deal.

• 55:19Travis McElroy?

I care about it a great deal.

• 55:20Griffin McElroy?

It's going to absolutely invade and occupy my house like a, like some sort of enemy from abroad.

• 55:27Travis McElroy?

Uh, so you can, uh, get one of six adult collectibles. There's a.

• 55:32Travis McElroy?

  Oh, sexual.

• 55:34Travis McElroy?

  There's a.

• 55:34Griffin McElroy?

  No, no.

• 55:36Travis McElroy?

Okay. No, it's not like that.

• 55:37Griffin McElroy?

I got a creeper from my, from my butt at McDonald's. I got a butt creeper from.

• 55:42Travis McElroy?

It doesn't explicitly say that on the packaging, but if it fits, it says, you know what I mean?

• 55:47Griffin McElroy?

It says it's an enderman, enderman for my butt from the McDonald's grown up Happy Meal. Fuck, yeah. Thanks, Ronald.

• 55:53Travis McElroy?

Thanks, man. Um, yeah, so, uh, that you could get a Big Mac Crystal mined from the sea of special sauce. This precious, precious block derives its radiant shine from melty cheese and a toasted sesame bun. What are the birdie wings? Keep your eye to the sky or you might miss this early bird soaring high above the clouds with rare pair of electro wings.

• 56:16Griffin McElroy?

  What? Yes, fuck, yeah, man.

• 56:18Travis McElroy?

Is a fry helmet forged from the iconic French fry box. This enchanted helmet is rumored to protect your friends from stealing your last fry, which they have capitalized here, absolutely demented. Grimace egg emerging from the depths of a purple shake. This magical grimace mob gets its shake from the most coveted egg of them all.

• 56:35Travis McElroy?

  What?

• 56:35Travis McElroy?

Soda potion. The electrifying effect of this potion is mysterious as its recipe and accidental combo of fantastic fizzy flavors. And there's the zombie Hamburglar. Yeah. Guys, there's the zombie Hamburglar. What?

• 56:50Griffin McElroy?

  Whoa, too scary. Stop.

• 56:52Travis McElroy?

Little is known about this hungry mob who spawns late at night and wanders all biomes in search of hamburgers.

• 57:00Griffin McElroy?

So they got a Grimace in the back of every McDonald's. It's Cloaca just constantly popping out.

• 57:07Travis McElroy?

  A brood mother.

• 57:08Griffin McElroy?

A brood mother of Grimace eggs. We gotta stop this corporation. We gotta, we gotta Oak Jaw these clowns.

• 57:14Travis McElroy?

Its real name isn't Grimace. That's just the look on its face as it pops out its 200th egg of the day. Guys, I'm gonna show you, if you'll direct your attention to the console in front of you, I have had a signal rerouted so you can see.

• 57:30Griffin McElroy?
