I'm driving the boat, sir. Hold on. You are the captain now. The wind was 45 miles per hour in a tsunami. Uphill both ways. How are your balls fitting your pants, sir? I'm [bleep] out. I want nothing to do with this. We [bleep] up.

• 0:46Speaker 01

Hey, guys. Before this amazing episode starts, we have one quick update. One quick one. You might have missed it from last week, but to start this year off strong, we're doing one last live show to end our tour. Where at? Vegas, baby. Nick, one of them details.

• 1:02The Fat Electrician?

We're gonna be hosting Unsub Live at the Venetian Theater on January 20th in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm gonna be fucking hammered. It's gonna be great. If you want to join me, there's gonna be links down below where you can go buy tickets right now.

• 1:12Speaker 01

God, he's beautiful. So, on the tour, we're doing one last show. That's right. Come out, have fun, have some drinks, and come hang out with so many freaking people. There is so many content creators that are going to be there. It is going to be a blast, lots of laughs, and we can't wait to meet all of y'all. Thank y'all so freaking much for how big these live shows have gotten. In one year, y'all made it possible to sell out a 1,200-seat venue. Being in front of y'all, hearing the cheering, the laughter, the stomping, is one of the greatest experiences any of us have had. So, thank you so much. And now, back to an awesome episode.

• 1:49Speaker 03

We're gonna figure out why Eli always has me on podcasts with fucking pipe hitters. Retired.

• 1:56Speaker 01

I love it because I love it. It is like, holy shit. We have dope ass stories.

• 2:01Speaker 04

  Some pipe layers maybe.

• 2:02Speaker 01

Yeah. And especially after yesterday. Oh, fuck. We'll start it off right. Ready? Everyone get that. Put it by the mic. Three, two, one.

• 2:14Speaker 04

  Sounds like freedom.

• 2:18Speaker 04

  White girl. Oh, my God.

• 2:20Speaker 03

  Not your thing?

• 2:21Speaker 04

I just turn into my Uggs pop in.

• 2:25Speaker 03

What flavor you got there? Tangerine?

• 2:27Speaker 04

  Pumpkin spice something.

• 2:29Speaker 03

It's like, it's like you're drinking TV static while someone yells about a tangerine.

• 2:34Speaker 04

Hide the bourbon behind this white girl shit.

• 2:37Speaker 01

Nick, start the. Fuck, Cody's not here. I know. Hi, everyone. Welcome to the unsubscribe podcast. I'm joined here today by my co-host, Mr. Eli Double Tap, our new friend Terry and Ethan, Mr. Habitual Line Crosser, and I am Nick, obviously. The fat electrician. You look gorgeous. We're on podcast number two for range day. We're just bathlogging these bitches. We left a bar of 300 people. We tried to literally, we did one round to the bathroom and left and it took.

• 3:09Speaker 03

In that time, I managed to drink a beer. So I didn't even get to the bathroom. It was like, I'm not making it.

• 3:14Speaker 04

  Yeah, just send it.

• 3:15Speaker 01

Yeah. You guys did the right thing. I just like.

• 3:20Speaker 04

We're gonna stay here and drink. So I can stay here and drink bourbon or I can go hang out with a whole bunch of 300 people in a fucking room? No.

• 3:27Speaker 01

  That's your nightmare.

• 3:27Speaker 04

  Do this.

• 3:28Speaker 01

Terry, dude, everyone knows habitual. Everyone knows how like everyone knows me. He says Terry.

• 3:34Speaker 04

Yes. Nobody knows me, which is nice.

• 3:37Speaker 01

Oh, this is, ah, well, that's, dude, you ever, again, as he was saying, it's like, why are you putting on like Tyler? You're a sub. It's all these like, the, the first, like, like tier one individuals. And you guys are so fucking humble about it, which is my favorite part, but then also some of the funnest humans I've ever met.

• 4:00Speaker 04

We don't really give a anymore. So it's, it's fun to hang out.

• 4:03Speaker 01

Oh, I'm so stoked for this. This is.

• 4:06Speaker 04

My rule in life is like, I've got limited numbers of fucks, so I spend them wisely.

• 4:10The Fat Electrician?

  Tell what your

• 4:13Speaker 04

Yeah, so background, grew up in Indiana, spent

• 4:17The Fat Electrician?

  Where?

• 4:17Speaker 04

Uh, up by South Bend, a little town called Plymouth. So, uh, grew up swimming, that's what led me to the Navy, vice the Army or anything else. I thought I could be like a scuba diver or something cool. And then they tricked me into signing up for this, jumping out of airplanes and blowing shit up and no idea what BUDs or any of that stuff was.

• 4:35The Fat Electrician?

  What year is this?

• 4:36Speaker 04

This is, so I signed up in 91 and joined in January 92.

• 4:40The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah, so like

• 4:41Speaker 04

So it's pre, pre Al Gore.

• 4:43Speaker 01

I was seven and I don't know if they existed yet.

• 4:45The Fat Electrician?

Global warming wasn't a fucking thing yet.

• 4:46Speaker 04

WWW and all that stuff, yeah.

• 4:48Speaker 01

They didn't exist yet. No, 91, I was one.

• 4:53Speaker 01

  I was negative three.

• 4:56Speaker 01

  I was seven.

• 4:59The Fat Electrician?

  No, I just like

• 4:59Speaker 04

That's all right, I got Kevin, Kevin's my peer group.

• 5:02The Fat Electrician?

No, but I mean, so what was it like, uh, cause I mean, everybody always forgets because like, everybody knows Navy SEALs and tier one and military is so much popular now, but like, when you were a kid and you were like, gonna join the military, nobody knew what the fucking Navy SEAL was or what an Army Ranger was, any of that. So like, how did you get to the point where you're like, yeah, I'll do that. Did you even know what you were signing up for?

• 5:23Speaker 04

Cause I went in, I was telling, uh, I think Mitch last night, I was like, I went in to learn how to scuba dive. Cause I grew up swimming, I wanted to be in the water. I was thankfully mature enough to know that college was not in my near future.

• 5:35The Fat Electrician?

  Good for you.

• 5:35Speaker 04

To be worthwhile. So I'm like, hey, stay here and do nothing and hang out with the college or high school girls or, or join the Navy. So I went in and talked to him and he's like, oh, what do you like to do? Hunting, fishing, shoot guns and stuff. And he's like, oh, there's a poster, like, look at that thing, you like skydiving, like, never been skydiving, fucking 18 or whatever it was. Went about blowing shit up, I'm like, sign me up, what is it? So he's like, oh, SEALs, here's the thing, sign a contract. No clue what BUDs, he didn't tell me any of that about it. He was in the brochure, like, get a little pamphlet, like,

• 6:09Speaker 04

64 weeks or whatever the fuck it was. No idea like attrition rate or getting your ass beat, which was good. Because growing up in that farming community, I knew how to work hard. So when I got to California, it was like, hey, just go do this, go do this. And by the time I realized how much it sucked, like halfway through, I'm like, oh, okay, cool. Let's do this shit.

• 6:28The Fat Electrician?

  Farm kids.

• 6:29Speaker 04

  Yeah, we're strong and dumb.

• 6:31Speaker 01

Yeah, look at this vacation you're sending me on.

• 6:35Speaker 01

  Scuba dive?

• 6:36Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 6:36Speaker 01

  It's in California.

• 6:37Speaker 04

Yeah, moving on the beach is awesome.

• 6:40The Fat Electrician?

I I was born in California and I moved I moved out to Iowa when I was like eleven, twelve.

• 6:44Speaker 04

  Why'd you do that?

• 6:45The Fat Electrician?

  Huh?

• 6:46Speaker 04

That's like reverse of being cool.

• 6:47The Fat Electrician?

No, it's way better. Iowa's so much better than California.

• 6:50Speaker 04

  Fuck, yeah.

• 6:51The Fat Electrician?

But like the thing you you move out to the Midwest coming from California and you run into these farm kids that just go out there and wrestle. It's like you guys aren't geared like everybody else in this fucking country. Jesus Christ.

• 7:02Speaker 01

  Those farm boys are terrifying.

• 7:04The Fat Electrician?

Year old kids that are tougher than most of the men in California. It's insane.

• 7:07Speaker 04

Are you like slinging hay bales and picking rocks out of the field?

• 7:10The Fat Electrician?

I did like two weeks moving square bales. Fuck that. They're built different. No.

• 7:14Speaker 01

  Sergeant Shutey.

• 7:17Speaker 01

The only dude in uh ground cabaddus, whatever they call it in the like I did BJJ up to that time. So those were a few kids when they put me in uh whatever level one was, I tapped out on the instructor and instructor was like, what? Cause like, dog, I've been fighting since I was ten years old. Shutey was the only motherfucker I watched an instructor like go to pull an arm guard and she goes.

• 7:43Speaker 01

Two hundred and eighty pounds of just.

• 7:45Speaker 04

  Dope.

• 7:47Speaker 01

Nothing but muscle and all he did was live on a farm in his entire life.

• 7:51Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 7:52Speaker 01

You're like, Jesus fucking Christ, dude.

• 7:55The Fat Electrician?

So like how halfway through you realized it sucked? At which point did you realize like? Cause I'm assuming you got shipped off to basic and you didn't even realize that you were doing something that was like elite or above average hardness.

• 8:07Speaker 04

Oh, no, it's yeah, you're just like when I so I went in, joined in January ninety two for boot camp and go to boot camp. It's like one or two other guys are in the die fair program or their EOD program, whatever it is. So we go do our workouts with the the little seals that are on base. You'll run and do pushups and that kind of stuff. But it's you kind of little break from your boot camp stuff. Yeah, but you just don't really know what you're signed up for. Go to a school, same kind of thing, work out with a couple of guys that are in the program. Then you show up to California, you're like, oh, fuck, what's this? This is cool. And then by the time the water starts getting really cold and the sand starts really rubbing your vagina quite a bit, you're like, fuck. But then you're like halfway through and you already made friends at this point. So you don't want to quit and let your friends down.

• 8:51Speaker 04

And it's kind of funny. It's really, it's hard, but it's easy in the fact that. Yeah.

• 8:58Speaker 01

  It turns it up.

• 9:07Speaker 04

It's like simple, but not easy because it's like every single day like, hey, we're going to do this today. You're going to run four miles. We're going to feed you at this time. Like you didn't have to think until you got through hell week, which at the end of the day is kind of fun when it sucks really bad. And then you get afterwards, you're like, oh, that's kind of cool. Yeah. Then you start learning stuff like, okay, we got, got you to the point where we know you're not going to give up when things get hard. Now we start teaching you like teach how to scuba dive, teach how to, you know, the rebreather, the, the draggers. And then teach how to shoot guns. Like, yeah, it just starts to get fun at that point.

• 9:40The Fat Electrician?

So is there any like, was there a particular moment where you're like, maybe the recruiter fucked me up. He didn't really give me all the information I should have.

• 9:48Speaker 04

Oh yeah. When you show first show up there and you walk in, you check in like, see man fucking who you're checking in for. Buds and you look out in the grinder because you checked in at the quarter deck back then. And you see this dude just getting fucking worked and like, what, who, who are these guys? And like, that's the class in front of you. And you see the helmets lined up like, what happened to those guys? Like they quit. Like, well, what happens then? Like, you don't want to know. Like, oh, fuck. Yeah. Okay. I guess I'm not quitting because big strong dude told me I don't want to know.

• 10:18The Fat Electrician?

  Nineteen at this point?

• 10:20Speaker 04

Yeah. I think I turned nineteen in Buds. Yeah. Turned nineteen in Buds or something like that.

• 10:24The Fat Electrician?

At that time, there's no internet.

• 10:25Speaker 04

Turned nineteen in A school or something in twenty of Buds, but yeah, still baby.

• 10:30The Fat Electrician?

That's what I was going to say. Cause like I grew up my whole life. Like I remember when I was in like middle school, watching like making the cut on Buds and shit. So like, I've known what this is my whole life of like known of it. So I, I can't imagine walking into that situation like not having seen a YouTube video about it or just like.

• 10:46Speaker 04

Oh yeah. There's no books. There's no nothing. I think, I think the Charlie Sheen movie had come out prior to that, but we watched it in boot camp. It's like the first time I saw it like, oh, fuck, this is why I signed up for it. Hell yeah. This is a shoot through walls with 50s and stuff like.

• 10:59Speaker 01

You think it's all the fun stuff. Uh, when I joined basic, I remember going to Meps signing in, like swearing in and all that. And they're like, okay, you're going to basic training again infantry. You don't have a choice. You're going to bidding. Don't know that. The internet's just now becoming a thing. So I was like, like, okay, you're going to basic training at Fort Ben. I was like, oh, no. Do you have like Jackson? Or like, I thought infantry could pick a nicer school. That's not it.

• 11:24Speaker 04

I want to go somewhere fun.

• 11:25Speaker 01

I was like, oh, yeah, I knew that. Shipped out. Here we go.

• 11:32Speaker 04

But it's funny because like, I didn't know shit. Like, there's no information out there. There was no Reddit. Like, come full circle. My last job was running our pre-buds pipeline up in Chicago. The guys, kids would come from boot camp, come over, and they would be in my house for eight weeks to learn how to get back in shape and learn mentally and physically, kind of get ready for it. Like, there's so much bad information out there on like-

• 11:53Speaker 01

What, what year is this? Sorry.

• 11:54Speaker 04

So that was, I went up there in 2015. So my last three years, 2015 and 2018, I was up there running that school. But there's so much bad information. They get there and they start cheating right away. And they're still in the Navy and like-

• 12:06Speaker 01

  Cheating? How do you cheat?

• 12:08Speaker 04

Well, there's no reason to cheat in pre-buds. It's like, super simple, right? Anyway, they would like, cut corners. I had to drop, like, the worst week I've ever had up there. I dropped 44 kids in one class because they were forging their Navy PQS. Like, I cleaned, I know how to clean my room and to clean the barracks, so I can go on leave or liberty for the afternoon. Like, they can't go on liberty anyways. It doesn't fucking matter why you're cheating. So they got busted. The mass chief of the base called me. So I got to call the mass chief of Warcon, like, my senior E9 that I worked for. I'm like, hey, mass chief, this is what's going on. He's like, well, what do you want to do? I'm like, well, right now, they're not even in NSW yet, right? They haven't gone to buds

• 12:49Speaker 04

yet. They're, they're still in the Navy. Like, if we were preaching character and integrity, in my, in my right mind, I can't let these guys go. Like, it's just not the right thing to do, especially at this level. Like, they've been in the Navy for like, four weeks or whatever. Like, if we're letting them go with integrity, like, basic integrity shit from here, it's like, we can't do it. So I was like, fucking miserable, like, signing, like- Kicking forty-four kids out of this class. I'm like, one by one, I've got to have.

• 13:19The Fat Electrician?

Like, how many were in the class?

• 13:21Speaker 04

I was like, started with like, typical class would start about two hundred or so. That's the SEALs, or the SEAL candidates, the SWCC candidates. We'd have a handful of fleet returnees that are going, or maybe a couple of transfer, like, marine guys that are gonna go to BUDS. So every enlisted guy that went to BUDS, at that point, came through that, that schoolhouse. So, roughly two hundred or so of them. Typically, we only lose like, eight to ten, max, on like, a big class.

• 13:46The Fat Electrician?

  For the pre?

• 13:47Speaker 04

For pre-BUDS, yeah. I mean, the attrition rate for BUDS is, I don't think it's changed much, like, one percent, maybe. It's like, it's still eighty percent of the kids aren't making it through.

• 13:55The Fat Electrician?

When you went through versus when you were an instructor, were the class sizes different, or were there was like?

• 14:00Speaker 04

Uh, yeah, smaller. I think, uh, I think we started my first phase with one-twenty-ish, somewhere in that ballpark, and we graduated twenty-two, twenty-one, twenty-two, and fourteen of those were the original class that didn't get rolled back. So now they're starting, like, one-eighty to two-hundred. I don't know what it is now, but it was much higher numbers.

• 14:20Speaker 01

When you were rolling those out, what is that like? We'll go back to like, we would love your entire thing, because that's what we'll go back to, but with, you see it now, with like, what you went through and how you retrieved versus, oh, this is how it's handled now. Do you see a big shift from when you got out? Or is it the same standard?

• 14:38Speaker 04

It's the same standard. I mean, and it's funny, because when you go through, like, hell, we, it's chaos the whole time. When you're going through, like, oh, my God, what the fuck, like, shit's going everywhere. When I go back twenty years later, as an instructor or observer, like, it is scripted to the second. Like, okay, we're gonna have the guys in the water. At this time, it's fifty-two degrees, the wind is this. They can only be in the water for sixty-eight seconds, like, down to the second. As a student going through, and you don't know this, like, yeah.

• 15:05Speaker 01

  They can't kill me.

• 15:06Speaker 04

  No. Well.

• 15:12Speaker 03

Wasn't there a kid who, like, recently, a couple of years ago, like, had a heart attack or something?

• 15:17Speaker 04

But, I mean, for that, there's a whole lot of other shit.

• 15:20The Fat Electrician?

That joke still went over your head.

• 15:24Speaker 04

But no, but for that one, it was that kid had been taking stuff that he shouldn't have taken and it was a whole lot of other stuff that was self-induced. And anyway, Navy tried to pin it on some guys, but it, yeah, anyways, big story that I don't want to get in details. I don't really know all the details too much.

• 15:41The Fat Electrician?

Um, going, sorry, going from like a pre, I'll say pre-internet seal to being a instructor, post-internet and being popular was, do you think that, uh, access to information is like hurting or helping the new recruits coming through? Like, do you think you, you had it better off not knowing anything about what you were getting into? Or do you think they have it better off kind of knowing what they're getting into?

• 16:05Speaker 04

I would say yes or no. And this is how I'd say is like, yes, I had it better off because I had no clue I was getting into and I just sucked it up and did it. Now the kids, like the access to information, like physically and mentally, these guys are fucking way out of my, like, I wouldn't even probably classify for a, for a contract now. Like, we're getting, our average kid coming in at the time was 22, 23, 60 to 70% of them already had a four year degree. They understood nutrition. They understood how to work out. Like in the nineties, we were just breaking dudes. Cause like, oh, fuck, let's just run faster. If we gotta run faster, we'll run farther.

• 16:41Speaker 01

That was when you was like drinking water. Like that's her.

• 16:44Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 16:45Speaker 01

It was like, oh, that kills people.

• 16:46Speaker 04

Yeah. You show up to team four, like, fuck, we're gonna party till 4am and then get up and run for eight miles or whatever. It's like, not smart from how we're like longevity standpoint. So I think today's candidates across the military are much smarter, much more capable than we were.

• 17:04Speaker 01

  Age of information really does.

• 17:05Speaker 04

Oh yeah. I mean, it's just, I mean, what we've learned from like nine 11, just on longevity of the operator side of it. Is, I mean, fuck, I'd love to have a dietitian and physical therapy, like, we got it later on, but by that point, I'm already broken.

• 17:20Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 17:20Speaker 04

It's like, you know, rewind 20 years and get that shit when I'm 21, like, hey, we're gonna teach you how to eat and why macronutrient, like, all these different pieces are important, and mitochondria, like, all this crap is important. That'd been awesome.

• 17:34Speaker 01

  Actually building, like, warriors.

• 17:35Speaker 04

I still would have probably drank the five am, but I know how to rehydrate, right?

• 17:39The Fat Electrician?

You knew you were mentioning that stuff.

• 17:41Speaker 04

Clearly conscious, making bad decisions, yes.

• 17:44Speaker 05

• 18:57Speaker 03

I'm going. I actually do have a question for you. So, my old platoon sergeant from Afghanistan, he was a Ranger instructor. Now, I'm not comparing Ranger School to Buzz or anything else like that, but he said that after a while, well, he said after a while of doing the job, you could pick the ones that, like, you were relatively confident were gonna be able to get through.

• 19:12Speaker 04

I would say maybe, maybe there, but in...

• 19:16Speaker 01

Sometimes it's, like, they've actually done it where it's like, it's a toss-up because you look at a dude and you're like, you, I guarantee, they're like, oh, he's gonna suck at road marching or these things.

• 19:26Speaker 04

Yeah, I sucked at running because I'm fucking a midget.

• 19:28Speaker 01

  Dude, same.

• 19:29Speaker 04

  Sorry, short people.

• 19:31Speaker 01

Road marching can suck a cock at 135 pounds, like, little Mexican Eli. I was like...

• 19:37Speaker 04

18 inch legs on a soft sand, I'm just fucking done. Just go start hammering me cuz I'm not gonna pass.

• 19:45Speaker 03

I was like, I'm 6'2" and I'm like stepping it out, just trying to get on that road.

• 19:48Speaker 01

And the taller dudes are like, why don't you just step longer? Like 7' tall, you're like, cool. It's like 3 steps for one of yours.

• 19:56Speaker 04

Yeah, you're not even breaking sweat.

• 19:59Speaker 04

No, but it's, and I try not to, I mean, every now and you would get some, you can just tell like, character wise, they just, they don't have it for what we need to do. But yeah, I mean, you'd have these little skinny kids, you're like, there ain't no way he's gonna stay warm. And they pass. And then same thing on the other side, super motivated, high school quarterback, like supreme athlete, doesn't know how to fucking lose at things. So.

• 20:23Speaker 01

Yeah, jump in there. Come get in here.

• 20:30Speaker 05

So, a friend of mine in Terry's, for instance, the difference between like the Rangers.

• 20:35Speaker 01

This is Kevin, by the way.

• 20:37Speaker 04

  Hey, Uncle Kev.

• 20:38Speaker 01

  Uncle Kev. He touches me.

• 20:41Speaker 05

  No, I don't.

• 20:49Speaker 05

He's like, now my hands are uncomfortable. The difference between, because most of my career's been working with these guys. And you know, the difference between, let's say, the Rangers or the Whiteside Seals and the tier one groups. You know, there's a lot of examples of it, but a friend of mine in Terry's that was on the green side. He was at 39 years old, wounded severely in combat in Iraq. And both arms, like for instance, one arms, one arm, 21 surgeries to repair it. So, he's almost 40 years old. And so, he's on the green side and he wants to deploy again. And he's one of a few set of brothers that's ever been in that.

• 21:32Speaker 05

And he wanted to go back and deploy and they were worried about it. And so, his deal was, okay, go through Ranger school. And if you can pass that, we'll consider letting you deploy. And so, at 40 years old, after like 60 surgeries he had from his wounds, he's got more holes in him than any one in the history of the green side.

• 21:58Speaker 05

He finished first in his class.

• 22:00Speaker 04

  God damn.

• 22:01Speaker 05

  At Ranger School.

• 22:02Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 22:03Speaker 05

Yeah. At that age, after those wounds.

• 22:06Speaker 04

  And he's like, fuck you.

• 22:07Speaker 05

Three years of surgery and rehab and then went back into ployed for a few years before he retired. Just to show he could do it. You know, and it was like a middle thing for him. And so, so in asking him, and he's been a friend of mine for 20 years. And he looks like a gay waiter. He doesn't look like some, you know, badass.

• 22:53Speaker 05

And you know what? Asking him.

• 22:56Speaker 04

  So mad.

• 22:59Speaker 04

He knows exactly who he's talking about.

• 23:01Speaker 05

He's got a little lisp too. But he is the most badass guy in the world. And he just like wanted to do it. He wanted to prove it to himself. And that's what they told him. So it's interesting going from, you know, like elite groups like the Rangers or Whiteside Seals to the tier one groups. And the difference, you know, out of a hundred guys, one or two can be here. And him at that age went and did it and kicked the shit out of everyone that goes back into poison and retires. And it's like, that's how special, and I think it gets lost a lot of times. And we think, oh, Navy SEALs, Navy SEALs, that's awesome. But going from Navy SEALs to the next level, that's just like one in a thousand.

• 23:42Speaker 05

And, um, you know, so Terry's humble about it and Terry's very short and probably couldn't do it now.

• 23:48Speaker 04

Hell no. I wouldn't want to.

• 23:50Speaker 05

  But it is.

• 23:51Speaker 04

  Join the army, it's easier.

• 23:52Speaker 05

No, like how fucking cool that is. And, you know, and I remember this guy who, who did this. He told me, he's like, his entire life from T-ball until through Rangers, Special Forces, until his way to the tier one group. Was like, he was always the best at anything he did, whether it was baseball, football, basketball, like anything athletic, track and field. He was always number one without trying. And he's like, always such a badass. And he's like, he told me, he's like, I remember when I went through selection. And then when he was selected and he goes to his group that the rest of his career, he had to try and work hard as hell to be average.

• 24:36Speaker 05

And that's just like, that's those guys. I mean, my entire career's been working with these guys. And they would be great at anything. That's where like you or any of the other guys, it's like, you get to know them and everything and they're brothers in the NFL or they're brothers in Major League Baseball. Or their brother runs Amazon or whatever the hell it is. It's like, oh, these guys would be successful in anything they did. And I think that's the difference. You know, it's physical and it's also cognitive. But that will to, yeah, I'm not going to quit. And yeah, I'll go kick the shit out of all these 22 year old army guys that think they want to be Rangers.

• 25:07Speaker 04

Just because you said I couldn't do it.

• 25:09Speaker 05

Mm hmm. Yeah. So that's it. So, so I think it gets lost and these guys sometimes are too humble. And for me, I want smart kids that are badasses who want to grow up to be Navy SEALs or I want them to grow up to be in Army Special Forces. Because now it's, it's great because I want you to go kill dudes. We want the best dudes to go do it.

• 25:27Speaker 03

  Absolutely. Definitely mentality.

• 25:28Speaker 05

And so a bunch of your teammates have told me like the Charlie Sheen Navy SEAL movie is what inspired them to become Navy SEALs.

• 25:36Speaker 04

All drinking and cocaine, why not?

• 25:40The Fat Electrician?

Wow. That settles it for me.

• 25:43Speaker 01

Dude, no, wait, hold on. The simple fact, dude, 40 years, 40 years old and going through Ranger School after getting fucked up in war.

• 25:53Speaker 01

  Not that guy.

• 25:55Speaker 01

Dude, I would hands down just be tapping. I'm too old.

• 25:58Speaker 05

  70 holes.

• 26:01Speaker 01

Dog, no, I'm not waking up. Like, and you're starving at 40.

• 26:06The Fat Electrician?

I'll be honest, I'd be mad if I got shot. The 70th one is the worst. You could have stopped at 69.

• 26:12Speaker 01

  Hilarious.

• 26:15Speaker 01

  Thank God.

• 26:19Speaker 03

You know, god damn it, Eli, why you put me on podcasts with people like this, man? I, I was in my chair a couple of weeks ago and moved wrong and I had to like decide between either getting to my truck or calling an ambulance. My back just locked up on me in my chair in my office.

• 26:37Speaker 03

Yeah, I was like right in the middle of my spine and I was like, oh, I was like trying to reach my phone on the desk and I couldn't. I was like, oh, oh, it was a not, no, and then that.

• 26:46The Fat Electrician?

I'm sold though. I have a new goal. Ever hearing Kevin's speech. So, um, how old were you?

• 26:51Speaker 04

  Fifty-one.

• 26:52The Fat Electrician?

Fifty-one. All right, we can do it. So if you, if you don't know, uh, the first time Ethan came on, this is like his fifth appearance at least. Uh, the first time he came on, he was gonna finish out his 20 years and on, on the podcast, I openly said, I'm gonna get you to quit your job. And six weeks later, he.

• 27:09Speaker 03

  I know.

• 27:10Speaker 01

We went through numbers. We did some analytics. He's four years out from retiring.

• 27:15Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 27:16Speaker 04

  What are you retiring still?

• 27:17Speaker 03

No. I'm looking at a med board. They want to open up my other hip. They already opened up one of both my knees. I'm like, you know what? I'm used up. I'm gonna just walk. I'm good. I'll go make YouTube videos. I'm not that guy. I'm not that forty-year-old semi-surgeon. Like, no one's gonna be like, man, Ethan's badass. He'll be like, that fat fuck is funny.

• 27:36Speaker 05

You know what's cool too? So this individual now retired is a CEO of a company in our rent, our industry, which, so he retires from that and then goes on to, he wants to work in the industry. Now as a CEO of a company that helps those guys to do what they do. So like even in that regard, he rose to the top.

• 27:58Speaker 03

  He's, he's built different. I, I.

• 28:00Speaker 01

He's like, I'm not the cream that rises to the top.

• 28:03Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm not the, I'm, I'm the cream that's curdled at the bottom of the top.

• 28:13The Fat Electrician?

  My point is.

• 28:14Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 28:14The Fat Electrician?

  I reverse recruited him.

• 28:16Speaker 03

  True.

• 28:16The Fat Electrician?

We're gonna recruit you and get you to join the military again. That, that sold me on it.

• 28:19Speaker 04

I don't know if I could. I think I might be aged out by now.

• 28:23The Fat Electrician?

  They'll make an exception.

• 28:24Speaker 03

  Yeah, I was like, don't.

• 28:25Speaker 01

  You're on on sub now.

• 28:26Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 28:29Speaker 04

I ran his medals. I don't start wearing this.

• 28:31Speaker 01

You wake up in basic, you're gonna go.

• 28:34The Fat Electrician?

Think we've got a general coming on soon that might be able to waive that.

• 28:37Speaker 03

Yeah. Just to get you back in the swing of things. We'll have Eli go up, you know, find you in the middle of the night with a red flashlight and say you got fire guard.

• 28:46Speaker 03

  Both of them right there.

• 28:47The Fat Electrician?

Do you know how much money I would pay if we could secretly film him going to just a regular army basic training at like Fort Jackson?

• 28:54Speaker 04

I'll just go to the recruiter and see if he'll sign me up.

• 28:57The Fat Electrician?

At 51, you know how funny that would be?

• 29:00Speaker 01

  Play dumb during all.

• 29:02Speaker 04

I don't know if my knees can handle all that shit. Short little shuffle run crap they do.

• 29:07Speaker 01

We don't say a thing until week 15 when you actually are on platform and you have your rack medals on. Dude, he's in his class, he's showing up to all these.

• 29:19Speaker 03

  His tridents and shit.

• 29:21Speaker 04

How are you in boot camp with an E9?

• 29:25Speaker 04

Let me tell you a little story. You ever hear of Blue to Green?

• 29:29Speaker 01

What are these tridents? Drill sergeants don't even have deployment patches.

• 29:36Speaker 04

  He's got chavrons.

• 29:39Speaker 01

They stay in their right of rest.

• 29:44Speaker 03

He walks in, they all just look at each other, we fucked up.

• 29:46Speaker 01

Eddie. Everyone's terrified of the terrorists.

• 29:50The Fat Electrician?

  It's like a undercover boss.

• 29:56The Fat Electrician?

  It would be so funny.

• 30:00Speaker 01

You're clean shape, you're like, I fucking hate this.

• 30:02Speaker 04

I'd probably look like a baby, like I haven't had this beard for years, I probably would look young.

• 30:06Speaker 01

You're 35, your first time through basic training. You're maybe.

• 30:11Speaker 04

  I just made age cutoff.

• 30:13The Fat Electrician?

A line cook at Waffle House and just had a divorce, you're looking for a new start.

• 30:18Speaker 04

Judge gave me, judge gave me two options.

• 30:22Speaker 01

Correctly from the oldest guy in my basic training. Dude, I remember those 35 year olds in basic. I've said it, dude, I got the luckiest basic training experience, like, period. Joined, we had 40 people, 42, 28 of them were E4s because they were all college grads.

• 30:40Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 30:40Speaker 01

So everyone, and then everyone else was like an E3, so the drill sergeants, at the end were like, y'all really squared away.

• 30:50Speaker 01

Thank you. That was it. Like, we had a radio since week three. They let us wa- uh, I remember going to meds at Basic and they're like, oh, the kill zone. I was like, what's a kill zone? Like, in the middle of the aisle where you can't step. I'm like, what? The fuck are you talking about? Like, well, you can walk in the middle of your barracks, like, eh? Like, you guys don't have a radio either? They were looking at us like, what?

• 31:15Speaker 04

  Would you guys fuck up?

• 31:17Speaker 01

Yeah, we had no idea. And it was just a wild thing.

• 31:20Speaker 03

Meanwhile, I'm at Fort Knox, Kentucky with a hundred and twenty retards, man. Like, I swear we were on red cycle the entire time.

• 31:29Speaker 01

Watching other [inaudible 00:01:41] dude, I was like, oh, why is music playing at three in the morning? You look out, it's like, lights are turning on, turning off. It's like, oh, they're playing games up there.

• 31:40Speaker 04

  They earned something.

• 31:42Speaker 01

Now, when you did, uh, you were buds, and then what group did you go with? What team were you in initially?

• 31:49Speaker 04

Yeah, so I graduated buds, went to SEAL Team Four, back in, so I got there in ninety, October ninety-three, I believe it was. Yep, so T four, two points, South America, awesome time. Like, South America in the nineties was awesome. Surf, hang out with locals. Dollar was strong, so you could take all your local dude you're training, the dinner and drinks, and it was like thirty bucks or whatever. Yeah, so then, yeah, two points, I loved South America.

• 32:14Speaker 01

  That's where you know Kevin.

• 32:14Speaker 04

I don't know about now, but probably worth going back there now. There's, Kevin, I'm sure there's something down there we can go kill in Ecuador.

• 32:24Speaker 01

  Animal wise.

• 32:32Speaker 03

No, it's off the coast of Somalia, you're thinking of.

• 32:35Speaker 01

Oh, if Nick, Nick was finding out we were going to South Africa. He's like, we're going to Africa next year. Nick's like, to hunt pirates? I'm like, what?

• 32:44Speaker 04

  That is a thing.

• 32:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 32:45Speaker 01

  I'm aware. That's why I said it.

• 32:47Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:47Speaker 01

  Kevin, stop nodding.

• 32:50Speaker 04

  Kevin's got, I gotta vote.

• 32:53Speaker 03

  The game kills people.

• 33:02The Fat Electrician?

Disney's gonna get mad when I steal a Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.

• 33:07Speaker 04

  Just the outfit.

• 33:12Speaker 04

You gotta have the eyeshadow and the whole.

• 33:14The Fat Electrician?

  A six-chambered [inaudible 00:02:47].

• 33:17Speaker 01

Every time I feel like we peaked on unsub, I come back for another episode. Nah, fuck that line. We're gonna go even further. So you were still Team Four out the gate and then you worked up to how many years until where you landed?

• 33:35Speaker 04

So five years and at that point my enlistment's up. I'm like, okay, get out. I guess I never really thought about making a career of it. And my girlfriend then, my wife now, she's like, well, I'm not still. Yeah. No, no, it's awesome. She's awesome. Anyway, that's a, yeah, it's like, well, I'm not going anywhere. Like, well, if you're not going anywhere, I guess I'll go reenlist. And if I reenlist, I'm going to try out for this development group thing. She's like, what is it? I'm like, fuck, I don't know. But it's funny because I think I was telling one of the guys earlier, it's like my first and second platoon chief are both from there. But they never really talked about what it was, what they did, anything else. It was just kind of understood that you do your time at Team Four for your first deployment.

• 34:12Speaker 04

And then you try to go to Green Team and, and keep progressing on. So again, no idea what I was really getting into other than that's just the next level to go to. Yeah. So I went to Green Team in 98 and.

• 34:23Speaker 01

I love you. Just oh, no, they said it was cool.

• 34:25Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 34:27Speaker 01

So far, every step of your career is a.

• 34:29The Fat Electrician?

It was on a CD at this point.

• 34:35Speaker 04

It's fortunate because I didn't really know what to expect. So I had no expectations of what I was getting into. I just showed up and did the work and was like Kevin saying, I was average at best in Green Team. But I was, I didn't fuck anything up and no safety violations. I didn't kill anybody. So I made it through.

• 34:52The Fat Electrician?

It was average at being point zero zero percent of the top.

• 34:56Speaker 01

Dude, all the guys like my old first arm, it was until some of the cat guys came out. We were training at the other ranch here and they just came out and like, oh, they were fans of content. I'm shooting. I was like, oh, I think my old first arm, he made, he did a long walk and like, who's your first arm? I was like, oh, CJ. And they're like, get the fuck out. You know, CJ was like, yeah, he was like first arm in nine years. Like he was with a range, second bat, and then just like sped through everything. So train us up and then out. And then when he, the stories they were telling me, I was like, I did not know that CJ. That is a difference.

• 35:35Speaker 04

It's funny because I did two deployments and this is like pre anything really going on other than, you know, we're doing fit or foreign internal defense. Training locals, doing a little bit of like counter drug stuff, but not anything crazy. I'm like, oh, I'm pretty cool. I know what I'm doing. Been in for five years and then you show up over there and you're like, your peer group at that point, you're like, oh, fuck, this is, this is like the cream of the crop. Like, some of the guys I had in my green team were just absolute legends. I'm like, I gotta really step up my shit. Like, I thought I was cool with team four, but like, not here.

• 36:11The Fat Electrician?

  Always a bigger fish.

• 36:12Speaker 04

Yeah. Oh, yeah. And I was, and I was the youngest guy to class. So I was the baby.

• 36:15The Fat Electrician?

How old were you at this point?

• 36:16Speaker 04

  Uh, 25.

• 36:17The Fat Electrician?

Okay. How long have you been with your wife?

• 36:20Speaker 04

Uh, shh, so, we've been married 26 years, I think.

• 36:26The Fat Electrician?

  You got kids?

• 36:26Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 36:27The Fat Electrician?

  So, I mean, you were-

• 36:29Speaker 01

Cut out, I think. I got you.

• 36:31The Fat Electrician?

  We're not in that ballpark.

• 36:34Speaker 04

We're over the 25 here now. Yeah, for sure.

• 36:36The Fat Electrician?

So, I mean, you were, you were top, top of the line, everything by the time the internet was around and before anybody even knew what that was. Is there a point where your wife and/or your kids like turn around, wait, hold on? Dad does that?

• 36:53Speaker 04

Well, it just kind of grew, they grew up like that. So my wife, she's from that, well, not from that community, but we started dating when I was a team four. So she's just been around SEALs and that community and other girlfriends, wives. So she just understood what was going on. And when nine 11 kicked off, it was a whole different world. Like, we didn't have kids at that point. So it was like, hey, I'm going here. I don't know when I'm coming back. And she just got in that cycle, like, hey, every nine months, Terry's taking off. And then, then we had our first kid and I would come home and I would try to be the best that I could while I'm home. And then I'm gone for 200 days a year or whatever it's going to be from training and deployments and everything else. It's super strong lady and super awesome. And I'm lucky to have her. I mean, we had struggles like everybody else does, but yeah.

• 37:37Speaker 04

I think I was lucky because I was gone so much that by the time she got tired of my bullshit, I would leave for a while and then she'd say, okay, come back home and like, come home, like piss her off again. Like, oh, I'm gone again, but-

• 37:46The Fat Electrician?

You being home is her deployment?

• 37:48Speaker 04

Yeah, exactly. Yeah. But yeah, there's, I know where I was going with that. But yeah, so it's, it's- I don't know where that question was, but yeah.

• 37:56The Fat Electrician?

Oh, I just like, I mean, was there ever like, so your wife knew, but I mean, when you started having kids, like, was there a, a day where one of your kids came in and was like, oh shit, my dad's way cooler than I thought.

• 38:07Speaker 04

  Chuck Norris.

• 38:15Speaker 01

Oh, we're gonna get to that.

• 38:17Speaker 04

It's funny because my girls are never impressed. They're like, dad's dad. Like, she knew what I did and my friends and.

• 38:22Speaker 01

  Those poor boyfriends.

• 38:23The Fat Electrician?

Yeah, I was about to say.

• 38:25Speaker 04

They go to school and they're like, we just don't talk about what dad does. And it was funny because like my daughter, she was probably third grade or whatever. My wife tells the story. She was at school doing something and it's like, okay, what's your dad do? She's like, well, we, we don't talk about dad. And, and teachers are like, oh, dad's an asshole. We probably beat the wife and her divorce or whatever. Like, then she's like, okay, how, and then eventually my daughter's like, dad's in Iraq killing bad guys or whatever. And teacher's like, oh, okay, we're just not gonna ask questions. It's funny because there's always programs that we just don't talk about where dad goes or when he's, when he's gone.

• 39:00Speaker 01

Well, dude, that's what's crazy is a lot of people, like we had, when you guys deployed, even when I deployed, it was such different offset versus you didn't get the chance to, you couldn't say when you were deploying at those first year, like first year, two years.

• 39:13Speaker 04

With her, I could. The only, the only one was different. Our first Iraq deployment was, so O three, you know, everything kicks off. We four deploy, our, our green brothers over there, they're doing a different mission than we're doing the WMD stuff. That was probably the only deployment for like 60 to 90 days to where we didn't call home. The command people would keep them involved, like, hey, the guys are deployed, everybody's fine. Like, they would keep them up to date. But that was probably the only window of, out of the 26 years that I didn't talk to her at some point and like, and she didn't really know what was going on. I mean, obviously we watched the news. She knew what was going on, but she had no idea like really where we were. But outside of that, it was.

• 39:55Speaker 04

Once a week or once every couple of weeks, like whatever I could, we'd call or email. We had emails back then. I'm not that old, but yeah, so.

• 40:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 40:04Speaker 04

  ICQ.

• 40:06Speaker 01

  ASO, man.

• 40:07Speaker 04

Yeah, and I think the best thing that she ever did was she never got sucked into the whole wife's network. We called the pink squadron, whatever you don't call it. Like the bitchiness, like, oh, my husband did this. And like, she never put up with that bullshit. She's like, hey, she had her friends. She made really good friends with other Navy wives that were not in the command. So she just didn't put up with that bullshit. Which saved me a lot of problems.

• 40:27Speaker 03

  We call them dependopotamus.

• 40:28Speaker 01

  Yeah, dependopotamus is like.

• 40:30Speaker 04

No, my wife's hot, so she.

• 40:33Speaker 01

It's that FRG group where you're like.

• 40:34Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah. Yeah.

• 40:37Speaker 03

My wife actively, like every time anything happens at work and like they do mandatory fun, she either A, doesn't show up or B, she like goes out of her way.

• 40:46Speaker 04

  The minimum?

• 40:47Speaker 03

Yes, goes, well, like she just tries to make it miserable for everybody else there. Like it'll be for the kids and she'll like go and take all the pizza and just walk away.

• 40:56Speaker 03

She's like, you make me be here. I don't want to be here.

• 40:58Speaker 04

  Get your out of here.

• 40:59Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 41:00Speaker 01

Holy shit. It is when, um, after you got there, after like running, there's so many questions, like dude, all the different stuff. Oh dude, I just love it. Like I get so excited with this shit because we don't get to talk about it much. It's like, we were talking, I was telling that, cause like again, you were telling about like thermo bear grenades and then AT4 thermo bear AT4s. We did not get to discuss that last time. I was like.

• 41:26The Fat Electrician?

I've heard of the CQB AT4. I'm not familiar with.

• 41:29Speaker 03

Yeah, I was on that podcast too. There's a thermal bearing one.

• 41:32Speaker 01

Yeah, that's, I was like, bro, you guys get the coolest fucking weapon platform.

• 41:35Speaker 04

Oh yeah. You want to drop a building quick? Launch one of those things through the window and it's game is over. But I mean, that's, you know, I was telling somebody, it's like.

• 41:48The Fat Electrician?

Our, our new, our new merch for the podcast is going to be a cartoon drawing of the AT4 and it's going to say, I have the talking stick.

• 41:55Speaker 01

  I have the talking tube.

• 42:00Speaker 04

Like the Australian like ring things. Yeah.

• 42:04Speaker 04

Yeah. Wow. You better send me one. Yeah, I mean, drop a building with an AT4. Thermal Barrack is fucking awesome.

• 42:10The Fat Electrician?

When did you first get introduced to this weapons platform?

• 42:13Speaker 04

That one, that was a big on the breacher side of it. I never got to shot, shoot one, shot one, shoot one.

• 42:19The Fat Electrician?

I don't know. You tell us.

• 42:21Speaker 01

You're for the right, right? Either could be right to us.

• 42:24Speaker 04

Yeah. So I never got to shoot one, but some of the other guys did. And it's, yeah, that's probably, I was in Iraq when I first saw it. So that's probably mid five, six, seven, somewhere in that ballpark. Somebody will fact check and be like, this is when it was invented, but.

• 42:37Speaker 01

No, no one in this community would be like, dude, they're a hero.

• 42:40The Fat Electrician?

I'm gonna be honest. Knowing this random shit's my job. I've never heard of it.

• 42:45Speaker 04

  Thermal Barrack AT4? No.

• 42:48The Fat Electrician?

To give you an idea, I did a video on.

• 42:51Speaker 04

Now you got me questioning me. Maybe it was a different rocket.

• 42:53The Fat Electrician?

You let me know if we have to cut that out, but I.

• 42:56Speaker 04

Say whatever somebody will fact check. Oh no, that was a cruel.

• 42:59Speaker 03

Did they make a Carl Gustaf version?

• 43:01Speaker 04

Maybe it was that. I don't know.

• 43:02The Fat Electrician?

Do you remember, have you seen the Hellfire missile that's just kinetic with the katanas in it? They make a Hellfire missile with no ordinance and it just has eight katanas that flail out and it's just direct impact for when you want to hit one dude.

• 43:16Speaker 01

Like literally like front seat of a car.

• 43:18The Fat Electrician?

One car with no casualties or whatever. It was a, we killed some Taliban leader.

• 43:24Speaker 03

Yeah, he was out on his balcony and fucking.

• 43:26The Fat Electrician?

He would go out on his morning balcony every morning to drink coffee and just right on his.

• 43:31Speaker 04

  Just like a manhole cover.

• 43:32Speaker 03

  Mark 1.3.

• 43:34Speaker 01

  Razors.

• 43:35The Fat Electrician?

Just katanas. And I did a video on it and it was never on Wikipedia or anything. And like four days later, it was on Wikipedia. So Thermal Barrack grenade coming soon to Wikipedia.

• 43:47Speaker 01

  ATM, they would get it.

• 43:49Speaker 04

  Yeah, we need those legalized.

• 43:51The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah.

• 43:53Speaker 01

It's wild. All those different weapon platforms.

• 43:56Speaker 03

Uncle Sam goes all in, man. Some of the shit we make.

• 43:58Speaker 04

This, this, we started making after a one, we first got over like like Predator, like all that ISR shit. We didn't have any of that stuff. Oh, one, oh, two, oh, three. It's like, what's in there? I don't know. Best guess, we'll, we'll figure it out.

• 44:10Speaker 03

I know units today that if they got dropped in a foreign country and said, all right, here's a map. You need to figure out where the hell you're going. They would shit their pants.

• 44:18Speaker 04

Oh yeah. It's, yeah, it's terrible. Well. It's good from the fact that we have that technology and we can leverage it to keep guys as safe as we can. But it's also bad like, hey, if the Chinese knock out all our fucking satellites, how are you going to fucking solve the problem?

• 44:32The Fat Electrician?

That's over dependence. That's a wonderful point. I was working with.

• 44:36Speaker 04

We train, we train to that now with the guys. So it's, it's good.

• 44:39Speaker 01

Shooting Az-Man, bro. Do that all of them. Well, not now. I'd be like, I don't remember.

• 44:44The Fat Electrician?

I was working with an unnamed. You're shooting an Azvab?

• 44:48Speaker 01

Azvab. That's where you said Azvab. I was gonna use so much shit.

• 44:52The Fat Electrician?

  I got a 12.

• 44:54Speaker 01

  I don't remember this.

• 44:56The Fat Electrician?

  One, two, three.

• 44:57Speaker 04

  Give him a mirror.

• 45:00Speaker 01

  Hated that shit.

• 45:00The Fat Electrician?

Does it look any different than a normal AT4? Or is it just the round inside this?

• 45:04Speaker 04

Now you got me questioned. Like, it's a long time ago.

• 45:06The Fat Electrician?

How do you identify the difference between the two?

• 45:08Speaker 04

I'm sure there was something on the side that says, don't fucking drop this.

• 45:12The Fat Electrician?

Cause I know that like the CQB one had like a water charge on the back that would take care of most of the back blast.

• 45:18Speaker 01

You were learning all this, right? It is one of those crazy things. Cause it's like what you guys do. Another random fucking thing. Did you do Halo while you were in? Like. It's why you're so short. Dude, this is the heart. He was 5.

• 45:33Speaker 04

He used to be a lot taller.

• 45:34Speaker 01

It is the craziest thing to me is your Halo school. If people do not do a wind tunnel or know the training and you trained on a wooden board and it was right?

• 45:45Speaker 04

Yeah. You're like spinning around, oh, you know, skydiving.

• 45:48Speaker 01

Bro, like this is the only thing I could never understand. It was a wooden board and they're like, no, higher. Push your, push your dick into, arch it. And then they're like, and huh, out of fucking plane. No.

• 46:01The Fat Electrician?

  You figured it out.

• 46:02Speaker 01

Yeah. How? How the? Cause it took me three days of tunnel time to figure it out. And I was just slamming against the fucking wall.

• 46:10The Fat Electrician?

You did tunnel time. Tunnel time, tunnel time. It's fine.

• 46:14Speaker 01

This is not tunnel time. They just chuck you out and you're like.

• 46:17Speaker 04

Yeah. Back in old days, we, we end up in, like, so I went through free fall in green team. So we had the tunnels and all that kind of stuff. But yeah, I remember the old guys, I'm a little skydiver board like, oh, we're going to do a formation. And they're scrolling around like a little creeper for that or your car.

• 46:31Speaker 01

Cause it wins it it's a lot more difficult than you think.

• 46:35Speaker 04

Yeah, until you get the feel. I mean, once you get the feel of it, then

• 46:36Speaker 01

  Easiest thing in the world.

• 46:37Speaker 04

Then you strap a lot of shit on and I'm short and I'm small. So you start strapping all that shit on. I got like little hands sticking out. Trying to fly.

• 46:47Speaker 04

Yeah, I'm like you get little hands in my feet. Hopefully I'm falling straight. I can't tell.

• 46:51Speaker 01

We had when we did free fall, we were with Clint trials. Clint was part of, you know, Clint.

• 46:58Speaker 04

  Yeah, it's awesome.

• 46:58Speaker 01

We were jumping with Clint and his team was there. So like it was his first jump since the incident. And I hop in, I finally barely floating and then Clint is in the tunnel with me. He's like, wow, this is Clint don't have no legs. And he's out flying me. I was like, you're cheating first off way easier with no legs.

• 47:19Speaker 04

  Less drag bitch.

• 47:21Speaker 01

And he's just like, we like doing twirls. I was like, God damn it, dude. It's the hardest thing in the world. I certainly, I love that you know Clint.

• 47:29Speaker 04

That was awesome. Love him. Yeah.

• 47:31Speaker 01

Clint is, Clint's supposed to come on too. And that is

• 47:33Speaker 04

  That'll be fun.

• 47:34Speaker 01

We'll have you on with Clint.

• 47:36Speaker 03

Why not? You know, let's just

• 47:38Speaker 01

  It's just all the dudes.

• 47:39Speaker 03

  Let's get Clint Marcus Luttrell.

• 47:42Speaker 04

Yeah, when Clint comes on, it's like, hey, what'd you fuck up to lose your legs? What'd you do wrong?

• 47:47Speaker 03

  No.

• 47:49Speaker 01

You Clint, when he landed, he like flared too early. So he like had a fall and I was like, not good. Well, we're gonna do it again. I gotta re-record that. He's like, fuck you, dude.

• 48:01The Fat Electrician?

So we got, we got thermal barrack grenades, thermal barrack AT4s. What other exciting shit did you get exposed to?

• 48:08Speaker 04

Oh man, I mean, all the advancements of like weapon systems and ammunition, like all that stuff was driven from the, the special operations side. So you name it like.

• 48:20The Fat Electrician?

What was, I mean, if you, I mean, you were there for the period you were in, you saw a pretty rapid advancement and

• 48:27Speaker 04

Yeah, I was, I was very lucky on my timing. So I came in, in the nineties, nothing's going on, got to learn how to be a SEAL, learn how to do my job well before nine 11 kicked off. So by the time nine 11 kicked off, I'm nine, 10 years in the Navy, I already know the job. So now we started adding complexity of now we're in fucking Afghanistan. We don't have X, Y, and Z, but we're just figured out like stress level is good and then Much awesome deployments slowing down, getting into leadership position and as everything kind of starts slowing down in the world and changing to whatever we got today, it's like, I'm out. Time's up. I'm old.

• 49:05Speaker 01

  I'm good.

• 49:06Speaker 04

Yeah, like, like, like, timing wise is awesome. I got to see the heyday of, of all that stuff.

• 49:12Speaker 01

  Yeah, you got to see.

• 49:14Speaker 04

I got to do my job.

• 49:14Speaker 03

You got to like war act as fuck like, like, I mean, initial push, that was, there's, I don't get into like dick measuring, like, I mean, don't get me wrong. I was in Afghanistan, but I was in RC South. So I don't, I don't mess with people who've been to RC.

• 49:27Speaker 01

  RC South, yes.

• 49:27Speaker 03

And, uh, people who did like initial push into Iraq or Afghanistan. I'm like, nope, you, you're.

• 49:31Speaker 04

South was 40 for a while, depending on where you're at.

• 49:33Speaker 03

  I was 10 11, 10 11.

• 49:35Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 49:36Speaker 03

Yeah. It was, I mean, it was more IEDs than direct contact. There's a lot of IEDs down there. The guys in the east were getting hit like.

• 49:42Speaker 04

Yeah. It goes six, seven. We started really pushing on them. It was fun.

• 49:45Speaker 03

I was part of that big push that Obama did to try to like end the war where he just, they just threw like, what is it? 15, 20,000 extra troops into Afghanistan. I was part of that.

• 49:53Speaker 01

And that entire like, the surge and you're just fighting. You're like, hey, oh, oh, this is poor. Oh.

• 50:00Speaker 04

I had dibs on that one. It's fine.

• 50:01Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 50:02The Fat Electrician?

This is not as fun. Was, was, were there any new like weapon systems or equipment that you guys had to test out that you just absolutely hated and they were trying to make?

• 50:10Speaker 04

Yeah. The whole scar fucking thing was, luckily like where we were at.

• 50:17Speaker 03

Eli loves a scar. Talk shit about it. I hate it.

• 50:20Speaker 04

We broke, they sent us 12 of the tests and we broke every single one of them. Then the folding stock, you're like with the stock open, it blows up and springs go flying. They're like, fuck this thing. Yeah.

• 50:31Speaker 01

Government, it's like, yeah. It's government approved, AKA.

• 50:33Speaker 04

Yeah. So that was a whole SOCOM project, but we fell under SOCOM, but we didn't have to follow there. So we, we went to 417 route with HK. But yeah, that outside of that, we, we had a lot of flexibility on what we used, you know, within, within the law, right? But yeah, we got to pick, we got to pick stuff.

• 50:54Speaker 01

  I've got you.

• 50:54Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 50:56Speaker 04

Like the whole 300 Blackout. It's like, hey, we have a, a problem. We need to solve this. So we go out to industry and like, I'll go help to solve that problem of the subsonic heavy, cause 556 subsonic just doesn't work.

• 51:09Speaker 01

You were part, were you part of this conversation where it was like, hey, we have the MP5 SD, we have nine mil, we have all, can we even say that? Okay. I don't know where we're allowed to talk about.

• 51:18Speaker 04

  Something wrong.

• 51:18Speaker 01

I know. I was like, wait, can't we talk about that? No?

• 51:21Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 51:22Speaker 01

Okay. I was like, ah, bleep it.

• 51:25Speaker 04

I think he was trying to take a drink at the same time.

• 51:29Speaker 01

But it is, uh, it was so like you had like five, five, six, HK, four, sixteen, four, whatever. And then, uh, SPDs or SDs, and then you have approached with three hundred blackout, right?

• 51:40Speaker 04

Yeah, it came from a, a problem set of needing a very quiet

• 51:46Speaker 04

solution to a problem. Five, five, six, not there. One of the guys in the office was talking, well, John, John needs to come down here and do this stuff. He's like, talking about history stuff. John knows all this stuff. He built all my guns. But, uh, Whisper.

• 52:01Speaker 01

  John, you're welcome on here.

• 52:02Speaker 04

  Yeah. So Whisper stuff.

• 52:03Speaker 05

  It was combat development.

• 52:05Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 52:05Speaker 05

They're, they're, he works for us now.

• 52:07Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 52:07Speaker 01

Oh, fine. Kevin's just hiring the best of people. That's why I love it.

• 52:10Speaker 04

But it was a problem. We needed, we needed a subsonic solution to kill bad guys. The, the HK MP5 nine mil doesn't really do it. Five, five, six, you can't slow down enough to be subsonic and still be lethal. So some of the guys talking about Whisper and John was talking about this and they, and it was about the same time Kevin was looking at it. And it just happened to be like the perfect storm of, we have a problem. They're, they're flexible and fast enough to solve this problem. And it gave us the three hundred blackout, which everybody in the world has now, right?

• 52:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 52:43Speaker 04

So it's stuff like that. It's like, hey, we have an issue. Go out to industry and solve it.

• 52:48Speaker 01

  How was it?

• 52:48Speaker 04

They were never really forced to, like SOCOM tried to force that scholar on, and they did on the white side guys, but we never had to deal with it.

• 52:54Speaker 01

And then how was that dealing with like the, like the honey badger essentially when it was just, cause we didn't know, civilian market didn't know for how long?

• 53:02Speaker 04

Yeah. The honey badger went to the green guys. We just, we rebuilt just essentially M4 uppers or we bought M4 uppers. In the three hundred blackout, we just swap it out. Like, hey, I got my recce gun. Now I got my, my three hundred blackout upper, whatever it's going to be, just plug and play.

• 53:16Speaker 01

And it's, I think you were talking about it, Kevin. It's like you went from an, an eight pound, five ounce, uh, MP5 to a 5.5 ounce.

• 53:24Speaker 04

Yeah. So it's not only on the blackout, you could, as, as a sniper, a recce guy up front, you could load. Top five rounds subsonics and if it shit goes south, just rule right in your supersonics.

• 53:34Speaker 01

And you have a round this fucking.

• 53:35Speaker 03

Is this how people feel when I talk about missiles? Cause I'm like, so you guys are the science behind it. Your tism is tickling and I'm just like.

• 53:41Speaker 01

  I'm so happy right now.

• 53:42Speaker 03

And bullets and subsonic and supersonic, I just.

• 53:45Speaker 01

Cause you're, and then what year this is getting developed, like where you start rolling this in?

• 53:49Speaker 04

Ten, ten, eleven, something like that.

• 53:51Speaker 01

Have you used it? It's gonna take over for you fucking quick.

• 53:55Speaker 04

And I guarantee it. It was awesome, especially because like our main, our what from a national mission force, our main job was hostage rescue at sea. So if I'm climbing over the side of a ship and there's 500 people on board, now we've got a 200 grain bullet that's gonna go through a person, but it's not gonna go through a wall or anything else. I can address an issue up close, not worried about what's necessarily behind it.

• 54:19Speaker 01

  And.

• 54:19Speaker 04

And having rounds bouncing down the hall, steel hallway that like a five, five, six round.

• 54:22Speaker 01

And really extremely loud in those environment, I'm assuming, not the ear pro days that we have now.

• 54:29Speaker 04

Yeah. Well, I mean, yeah, suppressed everything is the way to go now.

• 54:33Speaker 03

  Still in a steel.

• 54:34Speaker 04

Wish I would've learned about suppressors when I was younger, cause my ears suck.

• 54:37The Fat Electrician?

The funny part to me that I'm still hung up on is like, I can't fathom the level of badass you have to be for the United States government to trust you to change the uppers and calibers in different bullets.

• 54:48Speaker 01

  They're in a different military.

• 54:50The Fat Electrician?

The average, the average infantryman would never be allowed to fucking change the calibers.

• 54:57Speaker 04

Like knock on wood, I don't think we ever blew up an upper.

• 55:01Speaker 04

We can fund some of this development, like, hey, five, five, six is great for a lot of stuff, but like the old green tip bullets or FMJ bullets, those don't fucking work on people. Like, so let's develop a bullet that fits into the gun. Like we got a 77 grain, like 70 grain, like all these different variations of five, five, six that came out over there, like.

• 55:19Speaker 01

  The gray tips.

• 55:20Speaker 04

  Much more lethal. Yeah.

• 55:21Speaker 01

Yeah. I didn't know those were a thing until I was handed a lot of grit. I was like, huh, those are now.

• 55:29Speaker 04

Yeah. And that's what, you know, came into the short barrel three weight stuff was in Iraq, this was oh, five, oh, six. We're in and out of vehicles, like Panders or Strikers or whatever it is.

• 55:40Speaker 01

And it's literally like, maybe if I can dismount right.

• 55:42Speaker 04

So we've got SR25s, which are awesome guns, but they're long as shit. Like I can't get in and out effectively. I need to still kill people 500 yards. So we just started chopping barrels. Like John's like, oh, here's a 12 inch barrel. Try that and.

• 55:55Speaker 01

We weren't allowed to do that with our.

• 55:58Speaker 04

So we went through a bunch of different variations and then like, okay, the SR is awesome as it is, it's not going to be that solving that short barrel gas gun three oh eight that gives me that, well, what this does now. But back then we were just experimenting and that led into the four seventeen, you know, three oh eights and then all the other shit that came out of that.

• 56:20Speaker 01

  Now, I

• 56:21Speaker 04

Which bleeds over into the civilian market all the time.

• 56:23Speaker 01

Well, it's like going back to the ocean. This is like, what? There was a movie about your stuff. Are you allowed to discuss any of that?

• 56:35Speaker 04

We can, we can hit the highest points. So

• 56:36Speaker 01

  High points, the high points?

• 56:38Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 56:38Speaker 01

How was it? Did you like that movie?

• 56:41Speaker 04

I got, I keep saying I gotta go back and watch it. Cause so we're talking Captain Phillips. So I was part of, part of that, you know, thankfully I loved it. Like of my almost 30 year career, there was two, two missions where we brought Americans home that I was on like Captain Phillips one and then Jessica Lynch was the other one. Like I was part of both of those.

• 56:58Speaker 03

You were part of Jessica Lynch?

• 57:00Speaker 04

One of like the hundreds of people over there.

• 57:02Speaker 03

  Holy shit.

• 57:03Speaker 04

  But like

• 57:03Speaker 01

Oh yeah, now play it. One of the hundreds of people that

• 57:06Speaker 04

But of all the stuff that we do, that's exactly, that's exactly why we do our jobs. Like our job is to bring Americans home, right? Number one, like kill bad guys are awesome. But if, if there's a chance to bring an American home, we do that. Yeah. So Captain Phillips, I was forward deployed to Eastern Africa, doing some work over there. Small team of guys. And my boss calls me and I'm, I'm in another country away from the rest of guys, doing some work for some three letter guys. And my boss calls me, it's like, I like eight o'clock at night or something. It's like, hey, are you watching news? I'm like, no, sir. Obviously I'm not. I'm working at, at the bar or wherever I was at. So I get back to hotel, turn the news on. I'm like, oh, fuck. So I call him like, do I gotta

• 57:49Speaker 04

come back? Like, what's going on? He's like, no, I was keeping an eye on it. There's nothing we can do at this point. There's too far out to see. Fast forward like 5:30 in the morning, phone calls like, we need you back here now. So I don't know if you guys have ever been to Africa, but it's not easy to get from one country to the next.

• 58:06Speaker 01

All the time. It's one of our best. Nick, what's your passport?

• 58:09The Fat Electrician?

  Get me your fastest Toyota.

• 58:13Speaker 04

So unlike the movies, there's no, there's no black helicopters there. Me on the street and fly me to the embassy.

• 58:18Speaker 03

Can I say the, can I say the movie quote without you like, you know, murdering me here real quick? Can I say?

• 58:23The Fat Electrician?

Life's like a box of chocolate.

• 58:25Speaker 03

  No.

• 58:26Speaker 01

  You ain't got no legs.

• 58:27Speaker 03

I am the captain now. I just want to share.

• 58:29Speaker 04

That's funny. Cause I get that meme every year on my birthday. It's awesome.

• 58:32Speaker 03

  That's awesome.

• 58:35Speaker 04

I got, I got good friends.

• 58:36Speaker 05

I have the chocolate with 300 black.

• 58:41Speaker 05

  Hard.

• 58:45Speaker 05

He's sleepy. He's all chucked around over there. What's that liquid sound?

• 58:51Speaker 03

  He'll be fine.

• 58:53Speaker 04

Anyway, so yeah, so it takes me like all day to get back to the embassy. Get in there, get the debrief and luckily the rest of my team, like my team, like six guys. Or they're doing the brief. They're, they're, I got my CCT, you make PJ guys with, they're briefing. The Bainbridge, cause we're going to jump in. Sit down, do the whole thing and, and my boss at this point is like, hey, all we need to do or your job until everybody else gets there is just to keep. Cap Phillips in the boat, out to sea. Don't let him get to shore. Cause when they're out there, I have a self-contained little problem in a boat. We know what we have. It's control. It's a little bit of variables, but it's, it's very dealable or doable or. Whatever you want to call it. English is not my, I need another one.

• 59:38Speaker 01

  You are the captain now.

• 59:39Speaker 03

I was like, I get this man.

• 59:41Speaker 04

  Yeah. Yeah. Whatever it is.

• 59:43Speaker 03

I might steal one of your white claws.

• 59:44Speaker 04

Yeah. Yeah. Fire it up. They're, they're senior. But uh, yeah. So we get over there, we do the debriefs. We get all the way back across there, jump in the, jump in the plane, fly the coast, get all our gear, parachutes, guns, all that stuff. We jump in the airplane and, and we fly out. At this point it's April. I think it's April. So April and Indian notions, there's a lot of thunderstorms. So you skydived before it. So then one of the number, well, there's a lot of rules I broke, but one of the rules was. In normal military freefall, you have to be able to see the DZ. And when we're jumping into the water, I have to be able to see my ground crew. So we're out there, we're buzzing out and we are like essentially the max range of what this aircraft will do. Pilot comes on, we do a

• 1:00:29Speaker 04

couple passes. I've got the sensor operators in the back and they're like, we can hear the guys on radio because we can, we're talking to them. We know they're here somewhere. We just can't see them physically. And then we're doing a pass pilot comes on and say, hey, we've, we're about bingo on fuel. We probably did another pass. And then, then we're gonna have to come home. There's, we have no other options. And about that same time, he's, he's telling me that on radio, clouds break a little bit. I see a wake, sensor operator slings it over a little bit. And I just see the tail fan of the Bainbridge. I'm like, fucking, and Matt's on the back. We already got the green light to go because we know we're close. I'm like, go. So we just run out there as fast as we can to skydive in and everybody's safe. And we made it to the boat and

• 1:01:11Speaker 01

What's that winds and that like you

• 1:01:13Speaker 04

We're like forty five hundred feet or so like we're low.

• 1:01:16Speaker 01

Oh, it's a low. It is a fucking pop. It like literally you're jumping up, you're popping up.

• 1:01:21Speaker 04

Yeah, go down. So I don't know what to

• 1:01:22Speaker 01

You, okay, just for reference, if you're doing this commercial, you're jumping at like fifteen to twenty and you're opening. Yeah. And you're opening at five thousand five hundred. What he's saying, you are jumping out and going like this. Okay.

• 1:01:36Speaker 03

  We're one thousand, two thousand.

• 1:01:39Speaker 04

  What's that? Was it stat?

• 1:01:40Speaker 01

No, this is free. This is one thousand, two thousand.

• 1:01:43Speaker 04

Fucking seals, dude. It's not the Marine Corps or the Rangers or any of that shit.

• 1:01:48Speaker 01

And why, dude, this is like you're jumping out the back. You're not hitting this. You're hitting the slide and immediate like, huh. Yeah. Just one, two, wait, pull everyone getting formation.

• 1:01:59Speaker 03

  Holy, you're jumping.

• 1:02:00Speaker 05

  Terry, where'd you land?

• 1:02:02Speaker 04

In Indian Ocean. No sharks, no sharks.

• 1:02:06Speaker 05

Why didn't you land on the boat? Why didn't you?

• 1:02:08Speaker 04

Because the boat hurts when you're skydiving. The water is soft. It's wet. I like the, I like the wet stuff. The wet stuff is nice.

• 1:02:17Speaker 03

No, no, no, I, I did. Okay. I'm terrified of the ocean because I watch a lot of documentaries. You think middle of the goddamn night in a storm, I'm going to land in the Indian Ocean.

• 1:02:30Speaker 03

How do your balls fit in your pants, sir? Like, man, no, no, you couldn't catch me. Nope. I just myself. Fuck it. Not, it's not a seal no more. That's not me.

• 1:02:41The Fat Electrician?

  Not doing it, man.

• 1:02:44Speaker 04

It's funny because again, like the rules that we maybe bent a little bit. So I had two army guys that were with me in East Africa and like, I chose not to take them and I get shit for this all the time from the Admiral now and some of the army guys. And my justification at the time was these guys didn't have all the gear they needed. We were jumping into the water at night. They never jumped into the water at night and had never jumped into the water, period. Like, it was stacking and then our parachutes were out of date. Like, there's a lot of like stacking, compounding factors that like.

• 1:03:16The Fat Electrician?

  That sounds so good.

• 1:03:17Speaker 04

Like I just, we're bending enough rules that I know the guys I've been training with where we can solve the problem. But now bringing in two guys that are unfamiliar with a lot of the stuff and the gear shortage and like, it just wasn't there. So I got a lot of shit for that, but.

• 1:03:33The Fat Electrician?

But I mean, it's probably the right call. Like the last thing you want to have to worry about is trying to help some dude get married.

• 1:03:39Speaker 04

We were doing, the problem we were solving, I had three other team guys, two other enlisted team guys, a J O that's new to the command, myself, and two air force guys, C C T and P J. So like, for what we're doing to like, just keep the boat from going to the beach is, we were fine. Yeah, I get shit from it. But anyway, so we get picked up, gun on the Bainbridge. And I'm an E seven, I think at this time. And Jonas is a E or no four, brand new to the command. We climb up, go talk to the captain of the boat and he's like, okay, senior chief, what do you want to do? Like, well, I don't know. We're going to keep the boat. He's like, how do you want to do it? Like, not realizing what he's asking. He's like, I've been told that you are in command of this boat.

• 1:04:24Speaker 04

So Jonas and I, we're in command of the two naval assets that are there.

• 1:04:28The Fat Electrician?

  So you're the captain now?

• 1:04:29Speaker 04

  I was the captain.

• 1:04:35Speaker 04

I quickly advocated that back to the captain. I'm like, well, what would you do, sir? He's like, I would probably do this. I'm like, that's a pretty good idea. I'll trust your judgment on this.

• 1:04:48Speaker 03

  What'd you do?

• 1:04:49Speaker 04

Yeah, I'm like, let's fire up the Navy guns, let's go fuck this thing.

• 1:04:53Speaker 03

Take the ocean canoe that way.

• 1:04:57Speaker 04

With all the other shit going on, he tells you that, you're like, how the fuck do I answer this? I don't, I know nothing about a Navy ship other than it floats. And it's gray and there's a whole lot of miserable motherf-

• 1:05:07The Fat Electrician?

I'm not that kind of Navy, I don't-

• 1:05:09Speaker 04

There's a whole big tuna can full of miserable dudes.

• 1:05:13The Fat Electrician?

I guess, yeah, I'm gonna come right now, I'm sorry, you're gonna be a meme on Reddit.

• 1:05:18Speaker 04

  Oh, I'm sure.

• 1:05:18Speaker 01

Oh dude, this A- Reddit's gonna love you.

• 1:05:23Speaker 04

I don't go on Reddit, so it's fine.

• 1:05:25Speaker 01

No, you think it's not saying it?

• 1:05:28Speaker 01

They're gonna love you for this, they're gonna, we're gonna mean the fuck out of it.

• 1:05:33Speaker 04

It's not real people either, it's-

• 1:05:37The Fat Electrician?

That's the name of the podcast episode though.

• 1:05:39Speaker 01

  He's the captain now.

• 1:05:42Speaker 01

  Yeah, he's the captain now.

• 1:05:43Speaker 03

Don't even put my picture on the thumbnail, don't even put me on there.

• 1:05:46Speaker 04

Anyway, so we, so we, so we commenced to keeping the boat from going, going to shore and worked through and it's a- And I were, we're talking, I probably shouldn't use names, but-

• 1:05:56Speaker 03

  We can believe it.

• 1:05:56Speaker 04

Well, we lost him in extortion, so it doesn't really matter. Awesome dude, awesome dude, and all those guys are awesome, but off track now. But anyway, so we, we get up there, we spend the next, I don't know, felt like three days, like doing it. It was probably like a cycle of darkness, but we got there this night, we're, we got the ship, we're, we're moving around. We're essentially playing cat and mouse. It's like, I'll use these big ass fucking eight, six bullets. So, well, this will be good. Can't see it here.

• 1:06:27Speaker 04

That'll be the lifeboat and then this will be the, the big ship. All we're doing is like keeping them pushed out to sea. They'd go around us and come back around, we would move the boat around and just like keep, keep them to our, it was a starboard side at that point. Just keep them out to sea, just keep working around, they would slow down and we would spin back around like this.

• 1:06:47Speaker 04

Is that one Eli's bottle breacher things?

• 1:06:49Speaker 01

  It's not mine, but.

• 1:06:51Speaker 04

  No, you like crane.

• 1:06:52Speaker 01

Oh, no, Eli, we actually thought it was Eli Crane's.

• 1:06:55Speaker 04

  Knockoff.

• 1:06:56Speaker 01

He's like, oh, he's out. Dude, Eli also really good.

• 1:06:59Speaker 04

Yeah, we kept doing this, kept doing this. Now we're in the daylight. They're getting pissed off. They're out of cot because they chew the coddle shit all the time. They're out of cot. They're running out of gas. They're getting pissed off and at the same time, we're talking to our negotiator in New York, the JTTF guys. They're talking to the tribal leadership on the, on the beach. Doing all this negotiation like, hey, we just want the captain back. I don't give a about the boat or whatever else. You guys can go do whatever you want to do. It's working us and throughout that course of day, maybe, yeah, later that day. Like they're out of cotton. Their batteries are running, running, running low on their, on the radios. So we worked through the negotiator like, hey, well, let's just resupply you. We don't have cotton, but we could bring cigarettes,

• 1:07:43Speaker 04

new batteries, all this shit. Like, okay, we'll, we'll do that. So my team, we dress up in our little blue coverall navy, not dungos, because they weren't dungos at that point, but little blue coveralls. Shove our shit down in the corners of the boat and we're, we're just like easing up to the back of the boat. Cause we don't know where Captain Phillips is. This is post him jumping out of the boat, trying to get away at night. So they've got him in there somewhere. We don't know where he's at. So as we pull up, they crack the thing and come out. They're all tied up their eyeballs. They're all bloodshot. So the open door, he comes out, get the boat we're talking to and we're easing up and then from my position in the rib, I can see Captain Phillips on the front left side of the boat. He's like rigor taped or, or flex cuff to the boat or to the seat.

• 1:08:27Speaker 04

Like, okay, perfect. They're not going to untie him to do whatever. So I know where we're doing, where he's at. And this is super sweet because as we go up there and we're talking to those guys and then we, we tell captain like, hey, Captain, hey, the guys from Virginia Beach are here. And like his demeanor just shifted like he understood with all the stress that he was going through like what that meant. So it's super cool. We did this, pass it off. We fly around, we use the helicopters to kind of keep the boat and all this stuff that I don't even know if the helicopters were in a movie. But so we launched helicopters to kind of keep them pushed out for a little bit.

• 1:09:04Speaker 01

I actually don't think the helicopters were.

• 1:09:06Speaker 03

I've never actually seen the entire movie.

• 1:09:08Speaker 04

Yeah. So somebody in the down below, just correct us on that on the movie.

• 1:09:12Speaker 01

Thank you. Like, subscribe, hit that bell notification.

• 1:09:16Speaker 04

  Yeah, all that stuff.

• 1:09:17Speaker 01

  More of Terry.

• 1:09:18Speaker 04

All that stuff. So anyway, so then then later that night, you know, the cavalry shows up. So the other squadron shows up and it's funny because I know I've been there long enough. I know what's happening. Like they deployed everybody to come do our first at sea hostage rescue that exactly why we are who we are. And captain calls me, he's like, hey, so how's it going? I give him the debrief. It's like, okay, cool. It's like, what do you need? I'm like, oh, in my back of my mind, like they're taking over. But I'm like, I'm gonna pull one. I'm like, you know, he'd send me like six snipers. I think we got it fairly under control. And we'll just we'll, we'll be done with this by the morning. He's

• 1:09:59Speaker 04

just laughing, but he's like, ah, okay, Terry, that's cool. But we're, we're sending a true plus and they're taking, I knew they were, but I was like, ah, they want shot. I'm gonna see if I can stay in charge of this thing. But they, they came over later that night. We debriefed them, gave them the video, told them exactly what, you know, all this stuff, like what is going on. And at this point, my guys have been up for a while. So we're like, okay, let's go. These guys here, they have it. Take a nap, whatever else, down our gear. And I don't know how long I'm asleep, not, not long, but you get that kind of like, I wonder what the fuck's going on. Go by as I'm walking through the, the little back area, like gear and stage. I'm like, I don't see anybody. There's like, nobody's in there. Like, what the fuck's going on? So I just happened to grab my nods and my helmet and

• 1:10:44Speaker 04

my gun. I'm like, just natural, I guess, at this point, go out to the fantail and everybody's lined up and then. Boat's under tow and it's dark out and like I see these guys laying down and my buddy's the he's the troop troop chief for the for sniper guys like oh perfect timing. We need once you jump in here with this guy you like two guys per at this point we'd already pulled one of those one of those guys off that stabbed himself. So we got three, three pirates, Captain Phillips, boat's under tow, it's a night and like everybody's online. It's like, okay, what do we do? He's like, well, they're just like playing Papa Weasel. We get one up and two up, then one will go down and another one comes. It's just like this whack a mole shit. It's like if we ever get them like all

• 1:11:26Speaker 04

three, when we left Africa, that was the or we jumped in, that was our kind of our ROEs. Like if you can guarantee a hundred percent that you can solve the problem, you guys can solve the problem. So I lay down and I've probably not very long there and it's like all of a sudden like this guy's up, that guy's up, that guy's up, everybody checks in like, we're good. You're like, all right, three, two, one, boom. Problem solved. Guys slide for life down in there, rescue's Captain Phillips and the rest is a movie. Holy fuck.

• 1:12:00Speaker 04

  It's funny.

• 1:12:01Speaker 03

Your entire fanbase is just gonna be.

• 1:12:04Speaker 04

Bro, that is the quiet this answer has been for a long time. We're like. It's funny because I'm like, I just happened to wake up like, I wonder what the fuck's going on. I'm gonna grab my gun just in case for whatever. I'm on a boat. Why do I need my gun? I just happened, luckily showed up at the right time and they had a spot. Just like stretch out.

• 1:12:21Speaker 03

Oh, you got. Time to off some pirates.

• 1:12:24Speaker 04

But I mean, yeah, everybody there was awesome and then I'll probably get shit because like, oh, fuck, we were there. And it's funny because on our side of it internally to us, like the squadron that shows up never wants to admit that we were there before them. So like all the, all the different stuff is no mention of us or anything else, but.

• 1:12:43The Fat Electrician?

I love how you're so good at your job that you just kind of like casually glossed over the whole three shots on three different people on a moving boat to another moving boat and the problem was solved.

• 1:12:56Speaker 04

  Oh dude, yesterday.

• 1:12:57The Fat Electrician?

That's a lot of variables for one.

• 1:12:59Speaker 04

That's what we train for. I mean, we, we trained it and we learned this over the years. Like we trained at such a high level that no matter what happens on target or wherever it's whatever's going on, it's less than what we trained to. So it's like, oh, not really stressful. Like, okay, lasers, it's fucking night. You got no, just a whole laser on dude's head. It's like. Are you guys ready? Okay, yeah, let's go.

• 1:13:20Speaker 03

How far of the shot was it?

• 1:13:21Speaker 04

  It wa- I mean.

• 1:13:23Speaker 03

  If you had to guesstimate.

• 1:13:24Speaker 04

I've drank a lot since then, so somewhere in that fifty to seventy-five, maybe.

• 1:13:28Speaker 03

That's still, that's still a damn good shot, like that, at night with, I mean.

• 1:13:31Speaker 04

  It wasn't much, it wasn't.

• 1:13:33Speaker 01

I like how you down. Yesterday you were down, but you were like, Kevin, you could hit that. It's like, standing pistol.

• 1:13:44Speaker 01

  Land cannon, eyes closed.

• 1:13:46Speaker 04

Yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't a difficult shot at all. And that's, we trained, we trained that shit all the time. So it's like, three, two, one, execute and done.

• 1:13:55Speaker 01

  Dude, that is, the fuck.

• 1:13:59Speaker 01

  When you bring up Jessica.

• 1:14:01Speaker 04

It was a thousand yard shot.

• 1:14:04Speaker 01

  That's what we're going with.

• 1:14:05Speaker 04

Look at twenty-five hundred meters there, Canadians.

• 1:14:07Speaker 01

The wind was forty-five miles per hour in a tsunami.

• 1:14:10Speaker 04

  Uphill both ways.

• 1:14:12Speaker 01

Terry had just left the boat because the way it hit so.

• 1:14:16Speaker 04

I was, I was a captain of the boat.

• 1:14:19Speaker 04

I'm steering, steering and shooting at the same time.

• 1:14:21Speaker 01

  The gun's on the fucking.

• 1:14:23Speaker 04

I'm driving the boat, sir, hold on.

• 1:14:27Speaker 03

We're gonna re, we're gonna have it animated like, like a nightmare, not a, uh, the night before Christmas with Uncle Scrooge just grabbing a candle, but it's Terry with his knobs.

• 1:14:40Speaker 04

You make that shirt, send me one.

• 1:14:43Speaker 01

  Holy shit.

• 1:14:45Speaker 04

But it's, I mean, it's awesome because that's exactly what we trained to do at, at the command I was at and had the opportunity to be there. And I just happened to be luckily enough that I was there.

• 1:14:56Speaker 01

  Waking up.

• 1:14:56Speaker 04

With my guys and it just happened to be from, well, from day one, even before we jumped in, it's like, it could have been anybody. I just, I got lucky, it was, it was my team.

• 1:15:07Speaker 01

Yeah, a hundred percent. You guys made that effort. And then you met Tom Cruise when you saved him.

• 1:15:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:15:13Speaker 01

  Why?

• 1:15:13Speaker 04

  Wilson, Wilson is awesome.

• 1:15:18Speaker 03

  Then everybody clapped.

• 1:15:24Speaker 01

  Crazy.

• 1:15:26Speaker 04

  Life is like.

• 1:15:28The Fat Electrician?

  Don't worry about money anymore.

• 1:15:30Speaker 04

Box of chocolates was all good. It was cool because after all the debrief and everything else, we had to go back to Africa. We jumped back on the Bainbridge and then he goes with us because he's got to go back, get debriefed and then fly home. So I spent the next day or so with him and he's all wigged out, right? So we're playing Monopoly. I'm like, he's like, oh, just like, just having a conversation is hanging because I know he's fucked up. Like I've already been on enough deployments. I know like stress level, like where is that?

• 1:15:56The Fat Electrician?

Are you like trying to let him get the blue hotels?

• 1:15:59Speaker 01

I know what PTSD looks like.

• 1:16:02Speaker 03

  That's such a.

• 1:16:03Speaker 04

I didn't want to put him in jail.

• 1:16:10Speaker 03

I'm just, I'm so curious about how that train of thought, like you watch it, he went through a traumatic experience, like his life has changed forever. You can tell the dude's fucked up and you're like, Monopoly.

• 1:16:20The Fat Electrician?

I'm still not letting that motherfucker be the race car.

• 1:16:24Speaker 01

  That is all you get.

• 1:16:27Speaker 04

All it was is like, keep his mind off it and let him just, we're just talking, we're just like two dudes hanging out and talking through. And then my guys just cycle in and spend some time with them and I got him on the phone with the psych back home and working through some stuff just to. But was, we get him back, he goes home and then like two months later, we got our steel arena and he shows up with his wife and I'm there with my wife and my kids and they all get, go hang out with Captain Phillips. And we're like, old buddy, or where were they? And I haven't talked to him since then, but it was cool because he got to come back and meet all the other like community around what we do.

• 1:17:03Speaker 04

Oh, I thought you said something.

• 1:17:04The Fat Electrician?

Horrifying psychologist I've ever met, Terry. Holy shit.

• 1:17:07Speaker 01

Dude, I am just like, I didn't even know about the Lynch thing.

• 1:17:13Speaker 03

  Like, yeah.

• 1:17:16Speaker 03

Talked to some guys who were on the other side of that because it was an air defense unit. So I'm an air defender.

• 1:17:22Speaker 03

That's what she was part of. She's part of.

• 1:17:23Speaker 04

Like some log, five with her logics or what?

• 1:17:26Speaker 03

  Uh, well, it was.

• 1:17:27Speaker 04

  A logistical group.

• 1:17:28Speaker 03

Yeah, they were, but they were, they were with one of the air defense units, but one of the guys who teaches at the THAAD schoolhouse was part of her unit and was there, but apparently there was something. Happened, obviously that they got off on their own and everyone else in the convoy went one way.

• 1:17:43Speaker 04

  And kept on going.

• 1:17:44Speaker 03

And her and everybody else went the other way and that's how they got ambushed.

• 1:17:47Speaker 01

  Where the convoy split?

• 1:17:49Speaker 03

It split because all the dust kicked up somewhere. He was telling me about it.

• 1:17:52Speaker 04

And it's funny because like looking back and understanding what happened there, just like the WMDs, right? Like, oh, there's WMDs everywhere and you go like, where the fuck are they? Same thing with her, like there's 400 Fedayeen fucking fighters and he should go to the hospital and there's, there's remnants of them being there and there's planting cells and all this stuff, but they weren't there. So we planned for what we knew at the time, not the story that we got. And the same thing with like her getting an accident and people getting killed and like it's the story that the administration put out with the best knowledge they had at the time was not actually what happened.

• 1:18:26Speaker 01

  What?

• 1:18:28Speaker 04

And she'll tell, she went on to, I think she was on Andy's, Andy Stumpf's podcast and kind of like her perspective of what she knew happened vice what was, this is 03, like we don't have, like when we went in there, it was, we went in early, the recce team, they flew us in and we're like living in the fucking, with Marines and this is the first time I ever met a Marine one star. In the shitty desert of Iraq, sand blowing, living out of a tent, underneath a vehicle, like in a junkyard, launching howitzers, we get out of the Humvee and there's a one star general there. Like, who the fuck is he? He's like, this is my unit, we're killing dudes.

• 1:19:08Speaker 01

That hardcore general out there just like, what's up, dog?

• 1:19:13Speaker 04

I fucking love you guys. So we go in early and we base everything for her off of just human. Like we don't have ISR, we don't have SIGINT or any of this stuff. It's like people coming in and saying, hey, I saw this or I saw this. And it's funny, I got to get a picture to her. I don't know her, but because we drove by that, that room then when, in that podcast, she talked about being in a little building by herself for like 12 hours. We drove by that building because we had heard that something was there. Drove by, there's no, there's nothing going on. So we're like, oh mate, that must not be the right one. So I got to get her that picture, that building, but she most likely was there when we drove by, by herself.

• 1:19:54Speaker 01

Don't tell her that, just hide that.

• 1:19:56Speaker 04

Man, I mean, it's, it's, it is, I mean, we didn't know anybody.

• 1:19:59Speaker 01

No, that, that's what's wild about that time.

• 1:20:01Speaker 04

For anybody that knows humans, human intelligence is like.

• 1:20:05Speaker 04

Who's been there? Who like especially in Afghanistan like I don't like you so I'm gonna make up some story about how much of a terrorist you are and the agency is gonna give me a bunch of money and they're gonna my friends are gonna come kill you.

• 1:20:15Speaker 01

Like Mr. Mister, this is very good neighborhood. It's like I A D's everywhere.

• 1:20:21Speaker 04

So it's like very unreliable and it's like single source, like the worst kind of stuff. So it's like, yeah, well, doesn't look like anything. Everyone's keep on looking. And that's which led, you know, the doctor kind of led us to the hospital. And it all worked because we hooked him up with the camera and we, yeah, now we know what's going on.

• 1:20:37Speaker 01

  No shit.

• 1:20:39Speaker 03

So you made a human ISR?

• 1:20:43Speaker 03

You said you hooked him up with a camera. So like you said.

• 1:20:48Speaker 01

  It's like, wait, what?

• 1:20:50Speaker 03

  You're a drone. I just.

• 1:20:55Speaker 04

Jump off the building, motherfucker. It's not, it's not a gay guy with Hamas.

• 1:21:01Speaker 04

  Getting airmailed off the building.

• 1:21:02Speaker 03

I'm sorry that I had to explain this to everyone here. I got a little like puzzled look. Just go ahead and cut out how long and where that pause was.

• 1:21:08Speaker 04

  You were leaving it in.

• 1:21:09Speaker 01

  Leave that in for sure.

• 1:21:12Speaker 01

You actually, uh, for the podcast, you trained up on a new.

• 1:21:17Speaker 03

  I did, I did.

• 1:21:18Speaker 01

He was so excited. What the fuck Terry's on?

• 1:21:22Speaker 03

  I was so sad.

• 1:21:23The Fat Electrician?

No, I'm super pumped to hear what you have to say after Terry's story.

• 1:21:26Speaker 03

  Yeah, of course.

• 1:21:28Speaker 01

How many people did you say?

• 1:21:29Speaker 03

And everyone's just gonna fast forward past this part until Terry starts talking.

• 1:21:35Speaker 04

  I love bombs. They're awesome.

• 1:21:36Speaker 03

So everyone here, I assume everyone here is familiar with the Bat Bomb, right? From World War II that we.

• 1:21:43The Fat Electrician?

  You did a video about.

• 1:21:44Speaker 01

  Say you're not.

• 1:21:45Speaker 04

What? Did we say Bat Bomb?

• 1:21:46Speaker 03

  The Bat Bomb.

• 1:21:47Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:21:48Speaker 03

Okay, so you can teach him because mine's not the Bat Bomb, but.

• 1:21:53Speaker 03

America weaponizes everything. I really love this.

• 1:21:55The Fat Electrician?

  Dentist in World War II.

• 1:21:58Speaker 01

  Ted, start again.

• 1:22:01The Fat Electrician?

Today we're talking about the bat bombs for like the fifth time.

• 1:22:06The Fat Electrician?

I didn't know I was like one of the foremost leading experts on this on accident. So in World War II, they had this really unique problem. They had all these different programs trying to develop essentially a weapon of mass destruction at the time. You had the Manhattan Project over here, and then you had this other extracurricular project where we were going to strap napalm bombs to bats.

• 1:22:27Speaker 04

  Oh, fuck, I'm in.

• 1:22:28The Fat Electrician?

Because the Japanese lived in houses made out of paper and wood. So there was, there was a dentist from Kentucky who was also a part-time inventor. He had previously invented a fried chicken vending machine. Clearly genius.

• 1:22:45Speaker 04

Why am I first hearing about fried chicken vending machine?

• 1:22:47The Fat Electrician?

  I got you.

• 1:22:48Speaker 03

We were living in the future back then, man. We gotta go back.

• 1:22:54Speaker 04

  We have so digressed.

• 1:22:57The Fat Electrician?

So he gets this idea of like, I've, this is gonna be brilliant. We're gonna strap incendiary grenades to bats. And then we're gonna drop them off over Japan right before dawn. And the bats are gonna go and they're gonna roost in attics in any nook and crevice that they can possibly find. And then two hours later, the incendiary grenades are gonna light up and it's gonna light the whole city on fire and burn that bitch to the ground.

• 1:23:21Speaker 04

I'm in. Yeah, I like it.

• 1:23:22The Fat Electrician?

So he writes this down in a letter and sends it to the government. Never would have made it anywhere, but this dude just happened to know FDR's wife.

• 1:23:33The Fat Electrician?

Sends it directly to the first lady. She gives it to her husband and her husband forwards the letter to military intelligence. I don't, I can't remember the exact quote, but it's something along the lines of him telling his generals. This is not a madman. I think he's got a perfectly good idea. We should look into it. So they start developing bat bombs. They end up harvesting thousands of Mexican freetailed bats from a cave right outside of San Antonio. There's just thousands of these motherfuckers because they were the best bats that we could find, apparently. They make up a bomb that essentially looks like a large colander. That when you drop it, it just kinda like opens up and all the bats fly all over the fucking place.

• 1:24:19The Fat Electrician?

And they go to test it.

• 1:24:21Speaker 04

  I'm so intrigued right now.

• 1:24:24Speaker 03

This is how we felt when you were talking.

• 1:24:27The Fat Electrician?

So they they go to test it on this airfield out in the middle of the Nevada desert and the army is running the program at this point in time and they drop all these bats off and they're like, bad news, we forgot, we forgot to take the fuses out of the incendiary bombs. So they almost burned the entire airfield to the ground. They blew up the generals fucking car. So the army is like, I'm out. I want nothing to do with this.

• 1:24:52Speaker 04

It works. It's like proof of concept, right?

• 1:24:54The Fat Electrician?

Right. There was one marine general that heard about it and just fucking showed up uninvited. And he's like, this is dope. So he assumes control of the program.

• 1:25:05Speaker 04

I love Marines. Dude, yeah. I saw the crayons are fucking awesome.

• 1:25:10The Fat Electrician?

I did a whole video on it, but like, literally if we, if the Manhattan project wasn't done in time and we resorted to bat bombs, it would have been like 12 times deadlier than the atomic bomb was just because it would have, like, we killed more people in incendiary bombings in Japan than the atomic bombs did.

• 1:25:26Speaker 04

Just think of like the psychological factor on that, like bats flying in with bombs, like the drone stuff now.

• 1:25:31The Fat Electrician?

Here's the thing, they wouldn't even know it was bats because it was literally just like they

• 1:25:35Speaker 03

  Their house would just combust.

• 1:25:37The Fat Electrician?

And it would literally just be the whole city or town would burst into flames at dawn.

• 1:25:41Speaker 04

  That is awesome.

• 1:25:43The Fat Electrician?

  Horrifying.

• 1:25:43Speaker 01

Oh, shit. There's a fire everywhere.

• 1:25:48Speaker 01

Everyone's just in terror after that moment.

• 1:25:51Speaker 03

There was a program that actually predated that and it showed some promise and this is the one that I found out about.

• 1:25:56Speaker 04

  Oh, no.

• 1:25:57Speaker 03

And it was originally, it was called Operation Pigeon and then it was changed to Operation OrgCon, which stands for organic control. What they did, America weaponized everything. We created GPS before GPS. So what they would do is they built a bomb and the explosive was in the middle of the bomb, but in the nose, they would have one to three pigeons that had Well, I'm sorry, one to three is what I read.

• 1:26:24Speaker 01

  It's like there was three.

• 1:26:25Speaker 03

And they would teach these pigeons, they would show them like a picture of a, of a target. And every time they would see the picture, they would get like a grain or something like that.

• 1:26:35Speaker 04

If they pecked at it, it would release a pellet.

• 1:26:38Speaker 03

Yeah. And eventually they trained these things. One of them was like pecked like 10,000 times in 45 minutes. And what they would do is steer the bomb onto target as it was falling out of the air. So they were using pigeons to create glide bombs.

• 1:26:52Speaker 04

  Would get the.

• 1:26:52Speaker 03

This is a real thing America did.

• 1:26:54The Fat Electrician?

They had, the three pigeons were averaged out amongst the three. So they would average out where the pecking was to calculate the best out of the three. It was literally pigeon democracy on who we were gonna fuck with a bomb.

• 1:27:07Speaker 04

I'm not going back to boot camp, but I wanted this program.

• 1:27:10Speaker 03

  So.

• 1:27:10Speaker 04

  Resurrected. This is awesome.

• 1:27:12The Fat Electrician?

Shit. The, I like, I, off the podcast, and I can get it to Chase or whoever's editing this, like, you can see the video footage, like they recorded this of the pigeons pecking at targets. It was like actually highly effective.

• 1:27:25Speaker 03

Yeah. It showed real promise. Like there was a guy who was a behavioral scientist who like came up with the concept. It was like, no, no, no, we can use pigeons. And it, it was pretty effective. And I don't, I didn't get to why they canceled the program. Maybe you did. Uh, but I said that it eventually moved on to the bat bomb. And then of course the Manhattan project.

• 1:27:43The Fat Electrician?

I did a video. I forget why they canceled that project. They brought it back after World War II for something else. And then they just microchips caught up and we went to guidance that way. But it's really hard to make money off pigeons.

• 1:27:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:27:54The Fat Electrician?

And Mike Tyson was gonna be pissed. I mean.

• 1:27:57Speaker 03

  Now.

• 1:27:59Speaker 01

  Mike Tyson was mad.

• 1:28:01Speaker 04

He's gonna hit us, so we cancel it.

• 1:28:03Speaker 03

Yeah. So that was the one that I learned about. I was like, we made a pigeon bomb. Like we, it was just, I Googled, I got bored and I was like, weird missiles. And like, all the rest of them I've already talked about. So that was the only one. I was like, huh. So then I started Googling pigeon bomb. And I was like, well, let's see what this thing is all about. Yeah. I learned about the pigeon.

• 1:28:22Speaker 04

Not something you want to do on your work computer.

• 1:28:23Speaker 03

  No, no.

• 1:28:26Speaker 03

Well, I mean, for me, though, being in the missile space, they'd probably like, no, he's doing research and then he's done. And he's good. Yeah.

• 1:28:33Speaker 04

  Dude, holy shit.

• 1:28:35Speaker 01

I love. These are always my favorite is like, hey, we're learning all new tech across the board. This is from you to you to you. I'm just like, holy shit.

• 1:28:44Speaker 03

If it exists, America either has or will weaponize it at one point in time. Like it's, it's. We've tried everything we've done. I, I think the last podcast I was on, I was explaining all the things that we've made nuclear, literally everything you can think of. America's made it nuclear from artillery to rocket launchers.

• 1:29:02The Fat Electrician?

Britain, Britain did the, uh, Britain made the nuclear chicken powered landmine.

• 1:29:08Speaker 03

That one I didn't know about.

• 1:29:09Speaker 01

  Huh?

• 1:29:10The Fat Electrician?

Yeah. Great Britain made a chicken powered nuclear landmines on.

• 1:29:14Speaker 01

You have to open up way more. I've had a couple of drinks that I haven't. There's a line in the sand. Terry, do you know about this?

• 1:29:21Speaker 04

No, I'm not, I'm not familiar with the foul landmines.

• 1:29:25The Fat Electrician?

Or missiles or rockets or bombs.

• 1:29:28Speaker 01

Watch out. It makes a really big boom.

• 1:29:31Speaker 04

Yeah. Anything, anything burger related. I'm not familiar with.

• 1:29:33The Fat Electrician?

Well, just so happens I'm an expert on aviation ordinance, apparently. Avian. Um, yeah. Great Britain was like, I mean, we, we gotta stop the Soviets if they come rolling in with fucking tanks. Um, we, we made a nuclear landmine. The problem is, is that the tech is kind of faulty. You know, like we don't just want to, you know, have it short out being cold and wet underground. If we bury it and randomly having a nuclear explosion go off. So what the fuck are we going to do? So they basically, they came up with a plan. We're just going to dig the holes. We're going to have the landmines there ready. We're going to keep them nice, dry, safe out of, out of the ground. And then if the Soviets come rolling up, we're going to throw them in the ground and then they're just going to be on a delay. But it, it wasn't close enough. Like they would still, there was a, a.

• 1:30:19The Fat Electrician?

An air possibility that was it was too great. So like, we got to figure out a way to keep this warm. And when we can't have like a generator running to have power down there, batteries weren't good enough at the time. So they're like, I mean, what if we just put chickens inside that motherfucker and kept them warm with body heat? And then when the chickens died, the bomb goes off. So they just figured out how long a chicken could survive inside before it suffocated to death and the body went cold. And that was the timer.

• 1:30:47Speaker 04

That was the trigger for it.

• 1:30:49The Fat Electrician?

  In landmine.

• 1:30:50Speaker 04

I'm not sure I'm in, I'm on board with that one. That seems a little.

• 1:30:53The Fat Electrician?

They weren't either. Decided not to do it.

• 1:30:57Speaker 04

Now, now the nuclear landmine, now that's a little.

• 1:31:00Speaker 01

  It's a giant landmine.

• 1:31:03Speaker 04

  Incendiary bats, that's awesome.

• 1:31:06Speaker 01

Are you drawing the line at nuclear chickens?

• 1:31:08Speaker 04

Nuclear cocks are not what I want to get to.

• 1:31:10The Fat Electrician?

Are you familiar with the atomic artillery? Atomic Annie?

• 1:31:15Speaker 04

  I think so.

• 1:31:16The Fat Electrician?

  Okay.

• 1:31:16Speaker 04

  Spin me up.

• 1:31:18The Fat Electrician?

No, are you? Davy Crockett's a handheld.

• 1:31:21Speaker 01

The Davy Crockett's, do you know the Davy Crockett? Holy, oh, man, dude.

• 1:31:27Speaker 01

  Oh, dude.

• 1:31:28Speaker 04

I'm fascinated by like stuff like this, when guys are like deep dive into subjects.

• 1:31:32The Fat Electrician?

Have you listened to that electrician?

• 1:31:34Speaker 04

  I did just.

• 1:31:36Speaker 01

Oh, dude, you're gonna go through his videos like Nick is, it's one of the few content creators where it's like, and you're just.

• 1:31:44The Fat Electrician?

  You're hooked.

• 1:31:45Speaker 01

Hooked. And it's like, okay, well, forty to an hour of my life is now locked in.

• 1:31:51Speaker 04

I'm just gonna come down Iowa, Iowa, and we're just gonna like, sit and drink beers and talk. Bring it. Fucking bombs or whatever.

• 1:31:56The Fat Electrician?

I got one of the best trick shot guys in the country, thirty minutes from my house. We got a little gun show for Pepper Box. You can come out and you can show us how to shoot. We'll do all kinds of trick shit. You know, Kevin, you can come, bring all your cool guns. It'll be a great time. But, uh, no, whenever you want, but, uh, the Davy Crockett is, it's a recoilless rifle. That shot a fifty-five pound atomic warhead. And it was mounted to a Jeep. So the strategy was literally roll up in a Jeep, plant that bitch, fire it and drive as fast as you can. But the operators realized that they weren't in the safe radius. So they were just like.

• 1:32:33Speaker 04

  That was my question.

• 1:32:34The Fat Electrician?

We're just gonna fire it while moving and keep going.

• 1:32:39The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah.

• 1:32:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:32:40The Fat Electrician?

So that's one, but then you have atomic artillery, nuclear artillery, atomic Annie, and there's videos of it. I mean, it's. From 29 miles away and it hits and you're like, oh, that wasn't that big. And then the fucking screen just goes white for four seconds. It's the biggest explosion you've seen.

• 1:32:57Speaker 03

She's barked it for it. So I actually took a picture in front of it.

• 1:33:00The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah.

• 1:33:00Speaker 03

  For him.

• 1:33:01The Fat Electrician?

Yep. So that was the right one. Now.

• 1:33:03Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:33:04The Fat Electrician?

My favorite part of that story is they made three of them. They fucking lost one for like 30 years.

• 1:33:10Speaker 03

  Huh?

• 1:33:10The Fat Electrician?

And forgot or like, didn't know where the fuck it was.

• 1:33:14Speaker 04

Somebody left it off the checklist.

• 1:33:16The Fat Electrician?

They thought, well, they thought, they thought.

• 1:33:18Speaker 01

  Find it later.

• 1:33:18Speaker 04

  Turnover was like.

• 1:33:20Speaker 01

I'm gonna just scribble it in. That's all.

• 1:33:24Speaker 04

Lazy. So many people on turnover were like, where's that? I don't know.

• 1:33:28Speaker 01

I'm not doing hands across Fort Lewis today. We're just gonna say it's good.

• 1:33:33The Fat Electrician?

Well, they, they did, they thought the one that was on display was the actual atomic Annie, which was the only one that was ever actually fired. At some point, somebody got sent out to check the serial numbers and they didn't fucking match. In like the eighties, like 30 years after the, is, could you imagine being the E4? Just on profile for being a shit. Go check the serial numbers on all the shit in the museum and then they didn't match.

• 1:33:59Speaker 04

How many times do you think he read that number? Like.

• 1:34:01The Fat Electrician?

Bro, he had to sit there all fucking, like there's, come over here. There's no way that's not the number, right?

• 1:34:07Speaker 01

I would have literally just like, yep.

• 1:34:10Speaker 03

This thing weighs a hundred tons. How the fuck did it get swapped out?

• 1:34:13Speaker 01

I would have scratched out whatever numbers scratched out and wrote those bitches in.

• 1:34:17The Fat Electrician?

This is what it is now.

• 1:34:19Speaker 04

Turnover time, you're in charge. Not happening on my watch.

• 1:34:23Speaker 03

There's the atomic Annie and then for air defense, we've made air defense missiles. Cause during the Cold War, our theory was that, uh, if the Russians had a whole bunch of planes or bombs coming at us, you could just fire one missile. You're good.

• 1:34:35Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:34:36Speaker 03

So we built, uh, the Nike Hercules and then the Nike, uh, Zeus and then the Nike Spartan. Those are all nuclear. And then we built the.

• 1:34:44Speaker 04

  Ground air, right?

• 1:34:45Speaker 03

Yep. Surface air. And then we also built the sprint missile. Yeah, they're all Nike. Uh, the sprint missile, which was, America was like, how fast do we want a missile to go? As fast as you can fucking make it. And it did Mach 10 in under 10 seconds in 1964. Like they had to put explosives on the door on top because they couldn't build a mechanism to open the blast door fast enough to let the missile out. So they just like had C4 and they're just like, we're going to blow the doors open. This missile's gone. Like it would start glowing as it's going through the air. Cause like it was combusting as it's ripping through the air.

• 1:35:15Speaker 04

  That's awesome.

• 1:35:16Speaker 03

  It's it. America builds such.

• 1:35:18Speaker 01

I just like our solution every time is like explode it to open.

• 1:35:22Speaker 04

Can we bring the Department of Defense back to like the sixties? Some shit again.

• 1:35:27The Fat Electrician?

You ever heard about like, do you know about Operation Chrome Dome?

• 1:35:30Speaker 03

Oh, I love Operation Chrome Dome. The great, great one.

• 1:35:37Speaker 03

There is some interesting after Chrome Dome, there is some interesting air defense news that I can actually go over with you guys. Some newer stuff. So we'll, we'll jump out of the history and go to some newer stuff, but you do.

• 1:35:46The Fat Electrician?

Chrome Dome was literally just, they were putting up multiple B-52s for like, was it 15 years?

• 1:35:52Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:35:53The Fat Electrician?

It was like 15 years. 15 years for you.

• 1:35:54Speaker 04

  Cause it's constant flight.

• 1:35:55The Fat Electrician?

Yeah, the constant flight, because the theory was like, if they launched an intercontinental ballistic missile and they theoretically, they have the capability to take out every American airfield. So we're not going to be able to retaliate. So the only logical thing to do is to have multiple B-52s with nuclear ordinance. Doing hot laps around the entire continental United States and Canada 24/7 for 15 fucking years straight.

• 1:36:17Speaker 04

  Holy shit.

• 1:36:18The Fat Electrician?

And if they ended up launching nukes, they're like, cool, beeline straight to Russia, return the favor. Yeah, that was the plan the entire time. And that's where.

• 1:36:25Speaker 04

  Sounds American.

• 1:36:26The Fat Electrician?

There was multiple times where like a B-52 went down, causing a nuclear incident. Uh, like we dropped them in Greenland, we dropped them all over the world. There was one where, uh, God, it was the one that I did with Brandon over, I think it was Greenland or Denmark.

• 1:36:41Speaker 04

We've had a couple in the United States.

• 1:36:44The Fat Electrician?

There's one. South Carolina, North Carolina, but like this, the one that like really fucked up and like people got irradiated is really bad was the, one of the B-52 pilots, like it's and cold in here. I'm just going to open the exhaust vent directly from the engine bay and caught the upholstery of the cockpit on fire and burn the fucking plane down from the inside. And they had to bail out and ditch nukes in the ocean.

• 1:37:09The Fat Electrician?

And they like, weren't supposed to be in that area at the time. And Denmark is like, what the? Greenland, wherever the fuck it was. What the fuck? You're not supposed to be here. And we're like, I mean.

• 1:37:19Speaker 04

  Yeah, we're America.

• 1:37:20The Fat Electrician?

  But whatever.

• 1:37:23Speaker 03

  Do something about it.

• 1:37:23Speaker 04

Anyway, besides the fact, there's nukes over there. In the water.

• 1:37:28Speaker 01

  Mark, it's on the map.

• 1:37:29Speaker 03

I think the US has lost.

• 1:37:31Speaker 04

Doesn't matter we weren't supposed to be here, we are.

• 1:37:34The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:34Speaker 04

  And we got fucked up.

• 1:37:35Speaker 01

  Can't go there.

• 1:37:36The Fat Electrician?

  That's our snap.

• 1:37:37Speaker 03

He just said, yeah, the US has misplaced 29 nuclear weapons.

• 1:37:40The Fat Electrician?

  I believe it's 29.

• 1:37:41Speaker 04

  That's it?

• 1:37:42The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:42Speaker 03

That's a pretty good record overall.

• 1:37:44The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:45Speaker 04

Think about all the other shit we lose.

• 1:37:46Speaker 03

I mean, there was one that blew up in Arkansas, like not a nuke. Well, this is actually proof to show you how stable nuclear weapons are. The warhead ended up like 700 yards outside the gate of the base. When the missile itself, which was liquid state fuel leaked and then just went off and it literally just exploded in the ground, blew off the blast door and then the warhead itself ended up outside the gate of the base. Arkansas, 1974?

• 1:38:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:38:10The Fat Electrician?

  We're gonna talk about.

• 1:38:11Speaker 04

Huh? Explains a lot about Arkansas though.

• 1:38:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:38:13The Fat Electrician?

We're gonna end up talking about the manhole cover.

• 1:38:15Speaker 03

Oh God, we are. The fastest object known to man.

• 1:38:20Speaker 01

Dude, I love, before we get into that, my favorite part was homeboy tried to do a mathematical breakdown and then they commented like, no, not today. You fucked up X, Y, and Z. And he's like, it didn't count for rotational. Like, it's like, eh, this is not a true story because if you do it and then he just accounted for it as like flying like actually a dome not spinning.

• 1:38:43The Fat Electrician?

He did the calculation if it was entering the earth's atmosphere and not leaving it, which drastically changes it because atmosphere gets weaker as you leave, not stronger. So it like completely inverted the equation. So it was.

• 1:38:54Speaker 04

Very similar to the movie where how many, how many dicks can you, oh, do that again.

• 1:38:59Speaker 03

Let me stand up, although he might kill me.

• 1:39:01Speaker 01

Silicone Valley. My boy knows the guts. Yeah, that's one of the best.

• 1:39:05Speaker 04

  The Dick Distroker issue?

• 1:39:07The Fat Electrician?

  Oh, no.

• 1:39:08Speaker 03

But have you heard of the fastest manhole cover ever to exist?

• 1:39:11Speaker 04

No, tell me all about it.

• 1:39:13Speaker 03

Oh, I'm gonna let Nick, he tells the story way better than I do.

• 1:39:15Speaker 01

  Started again.

• 1:39:16Speaker 04

I love this because now nobody cares about me.

• 1:39:18Speaker 01

  Oh, everyone's still curious.

• 1:39:19The Fat Electrician?

  You're still the captain.

• 1:39:20Speaker 03

  Absolutely.

• 1:39:22The Fat Electrician?

Um, so, you know, Cold War era, we're testing out nukes.

• 1:39:26Speaker 01

  Reset.

• 1:39:27Speaker 04

  Go again.

• 1:39:29Speaker 03

Today we're talking about the new part of manhole cover.

• 1:39:34The Fat Electrician?

So basically, there's these scientists are doing experiments and they're doing, they're basically dropping nukes in the desert in Nevada and they're exploding them in the atmosphere and the people near that area understandably were like, hey,

• 1:39:50The Fat Electrician?

what if we didn't detonate nukes 60 miles from my fucking house? You know, I'm kind of concerned for the health reasons and the government's like, don't worry, we've done the research, you're fine. Hint, they weren't. They're called downwinders. They got paid a lot of money by the government. A lot of them fucking died.

• 1:40:06The Fat Electrician?

But regardless, the government's like, no, you're fine. And they're like, I still don't trust you. And the government's like, fine, we'll quit detonating nukes in the atmosphere. And they're like, and, and in the desert. And they're like, fu- fine, and in the desert, and in the ocean. Fine, we'll quit detonating nukes in the ocean too. So the government's like, okay,

• 1:40:25The Fat Electrician?

here's a plan. We're not gonna lie. We're gonna dig a big hole and detonate them underground. What could possibly go wrong? You know, what's better than having a firecracker go off in your hand? Having it go off in your closed fist? And what, you know, nothing could possibly happen.

• 1:40:41The Fat Electrician?

So they go, they dig a fi- I believe it was 500 feet deep hole. And they took a nuclear warhead and they were, they wanted to test the safety mechanisms to make sure that they were going to function properly, allegedly.

• 1:40:55Speaker 04

I think there's a way to test safety without actually

• 1:40:58The Fat Electrician?

  No, there's not.

• 1:41:03Speaker 04

99s, what the hell you know?

• 1:41:04The Fat Electrician?

Not with the budget we got, homie. Privates walk towards the blast.

• 1:41:10Speaker 04

  Good.

• 1:41:11The Fat Electrician?

So they, uh, they bury this nuke and then they stick a 2,000 pound slab of concrete on top of it with a hole and they detonate it and fucking straight blue flames launch 800 feet into the fucking sky and they're like, huh.

• 1:41:30The Fat Electrician?

Neat. So tomorrow they're like, we should try it again. This time we'll put a manhole cover.

• 1:41:38Speaker 04

Let's do it again. This time we're drinking.

• 1:41:40The Fat Electrician?

Clearly, we left our hand open a little bit too much. We gotta make sure it's closed really tight next time. So they go back the next day, same size nuke and uh, they put a 2,000 pound slab of concrete on top of it again. Then they get a 2,000 pound manhole cover that they bolt to the fucking bedrock to try to contain this blast to get the readings from it. And then, you know, for some reason, for science, they also got a high-speed camera, the best one they could get at the time, pointed it at it. And the nuke went off again. The safety mechanism did not work. And what had happened was with a nuclear explosion, it gets so hot, so fast that it vaporized the concrete instantly

• 1:42:25The Fat Electrician?

and created super hot gas which rapidly expands, essentially turned the planet into a fucking potato gun. And proceeded to yeet that manhole cover about 155,000 miles an hour. That's the minimum speed because they only captured the manhole cover in one frame of the high-speed camera. So they were able to do the math on like, to to not be in two frames, it had to have been traveling. I believe it was 155,000 miles an hour.

• 1:42:56Speaker 04

  Let's recreate it.

• 1:42:56Speaker 01

  Mach 1000.

• 1:42:59Speaker 03

There's somewhere out, we've started an intergalactic war because that

• 1:43:05Speaker 03

still going somewhere out there in the cosmos.

• 1:43:08Speaker 04

  Definitely left atmosphere.

• 1:43:11The Fat Electrician?

  There's a debate in science.

• 1:43:14The Fat Electrician?

Yeah, America put the first manmade object into outer space being this manhole cover before the USSR did Sputnik. And they argue over whether or not it burnt up in the atmosphere or not, but you did the math, it was a second to break out of the atmosphere and moving at that speed. And it's like, I don't know if it had enough time to burn up.

• 1:43:33Speaker 04

It mostly would turn into like just a molten slug.

• 1:43:36The Fat Electrician?

  That's gotta be.

• 1:43:37Speaker 04

  Going right towards Mars.

• 1:43:38Speaker 03

Yeah, that's easily Mach 40 or 80 because I mean, the Karman line, which is the the notionally agreed upon like edge of space is 100 kilometers up.

• 1:43:46Speaker 01

But 150,000 miles an hour, you're looking at, uh, what was it? 986? What is Mach 1?

• 1:43:53Speaker 03

Mach is uh, uh, 740 miles an hour, give or take, I think.

• 1:43:58Speaker 01

Again. Yes, exactly. So you have something in the one, once it hits the atmosphere, now you have less resistance. That's why the individual that jumped in the highest skydive ever from the free fall was from space. That dude hit up to, it was like

• 1:44:17Speaker 01

900 miles an hour or something, which terminal velocity for a human, once you stay

• 1:44:22Speaker 04

  Like 120s or something.

• 1:44:24Speaker 01

Yeah, like homeboys falling like 800 miles an hour and he's just like, oh, what's up? Like he goes into

• 1:44:32Speaker 03

  In a spin, yeah.

• 1:44:33Speaker 01

And he catches himself and then his speed finally, because he

• 1:44:38Speaker 03

The same principle with your fake Russian hypersonics. I just wanted to point that out to you. They don't have a power descent.

• 1:44:45Speaker 04

Now, let's talk about hypersonics. So what point do we launch this hunk of molten steel into space? The aliens aren't like, slow down, guys. We're gonna come visit real quick and you guys are starting to get out of hand a little bit.

• 1:44:59Speaker 03

The amount of UFO sightings that are around nuclear test sites are staggering.

• 1:45:04Speaker 04

Like paid to hunt, paid to hunt a pirate was, hey, aliens pay to come down and watch how stupid the US people are.

• 1:45:10Speaker 03

They're using those in their atmosphere. What the fuck?

• 1:45:13Speaker 04

Yeah, like, back off there. They'll launch shit at you.

• 1:45:16Speaker 01

You know, like, you know, aliens gave us that technology, right? You know what I mean? Like, you know what I mean? It's like a

• 1:45:23Speaker 04

So you use your drunk uncle like, here, here's some fireworks.

• 1:45:26Speaker 01

Yeah. What is, what's the Greek Sisyphus with fire?

• 1:45:29Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:45:29Speaker 01

You know what I mean? It's, it's aliens. Give, do it. Give those monkeys nukes. Just see what fucking happens. See what they do. Holy shit.

• 1:45:40Speaker 04

  Get out of the way.

• 1:45:42Speaker 01

  2,000 pound manhole cover.

• 1:45:44Speaker 03

Traveling, fuck it. That's probably as close as to light speed we've ever been.

• 1:45:48The Fat Electrician?

Yeah, that's I think, I think the only thing faster is one of the shuttles we sent out, like finally reached its max cruising speed and it's, it is faster now, but that was like fairly recent.

• 1:46:00Speaker 01

Oh, Jesus. It might be like Voyager or something.

• 1:46:02The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah, I think that's it.

• 1:46:04Speaker 01

  Yeah, that was.

• 1:46:04The Fat Electrician?

Anyways, nuclear powered anti air to air missiles, I think you were trying to talk about.

• 1:46:09Speaker 03

So there, well, there's the nuclear powered one, which, well, that was a theory. Yeah, the slam.

• 1:46:13The Fat Electrician?

  I thought we made that.

• 1:46:14Speaker 03

Uh, I don't think we ever fully built a production model where they have small nuclear blast as the thrust.

• 1:46:20Speaker 01

  Yep, I've heard of those.

• 1:46:22Speaker 03

  Which was, I mean, it's.

• 1:46:23Speaker 01

That was actually the original, like, hey, how do we get atmosphere faster? This is the way we'll explode.

• 1:46:29The Fat Electrician?

Oh, that's not the one I was thinking of.

• 1:46:30Speaker 03

Yeah, or you thinking of that one?

• 1:46:32The Fat Electrician?

The slam missile is the one that's nuclear propelled and it basically goes up into the atmosphere and just does hot laps around the planet in perpetuity for like 50 fucking years. And then if we ever needed to call it down, it would go down and just smoke whatever we needed.

• 1:46:47Speaker 03

Same principle as the Chinese DFZF, their hypersonic glide vehicle. That's, they fire it up, it goes however long it needs to be, it stays in orbit perpetually as long as it needs to. And then because it's a hypersonic glide vehicle, it dives and then kind of flattens out at a, at a lower trajectory, similar to a cruise missile profile. And because it's moving so fast, like cruise missiles by and large are usually pretty slow, like 500 miles an hour, like about the speed of a regular like fighter aircraft. But the DFZF hypersonic glide vehicle claims, never been detected by any American or NATO sensor, uh, cause they don't really test them very often. Uh, claims to be able to travel like N- nap of the earth or map of the earth, whatever you call it, uh, over Mach 10. Uh, so imagine a cruise missile profile, which is hiding on the far side of the planet. Cause if you think it's flat, your parents are related.

• 1:47:32Speaker 03

  Uh, and.

• 1:47:34The Fat Electrician?

  Right now.

• 1:47:35Speaker 03

So that's, that's why cruise missiles are so dangerous is they hide on the far side of the curvature of the earth, or they use mountains, which we call mass terrain. Uh, or buildings or whatever, and they, they sneak up on you that way. That's why cruise missiles are really, really dangerous to air defense systems.

• 1:47:49The Fat Electrician?

Have you ever done anything on rapid dragon?

• 1:47:51Speaker 03

No, no, but I know we've, we actually, there's a newer design. You may want to do something. Have you seen the revolver we made for hypersonics? Uh, it's in the back of a C-17, uh, Boeing.

• 1:48:00The Fat Electrician?

  I have seen that.

• 1:48:01Speaker 03

Yeah, they, they built a revolver in the back of a C-17 that like a parachute drops, a hypersonic missile drops out, takes off, and then it just rotates another one into place. And that's at the back of a C-17.

• 1:48:11The Fat Electrician?

  Fuck yeah.

• 1:48:12Speaker 03

  Cause America.

• 1:48:13Speaker 01

  America right there.

• 1:48:13The Fat Electrician?

  Dude, we are so dangerous.

• 1:48:16Speaker 03

  So, but the.

• 1:48:17Speaker 01

Like, who wants to fuck with us?

• 1:48:18Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 1:48:19Speaker 01

  Right now.

• 1:48:19The Fat Electrician?

  That, I'm like.

• 1:48:21Speaker 03

Right now, uh, in like the air defense space Guam is the most heavily air defended location on earth. Like anywhere in the world Guam is it. And I think it's because the US is worried that like China wants Guam. So like there's Aegis ashore there, there's Thad there, uh, there's, um, oh God.

• 1:48:39Speaker 04

Is it in risk of tipping over?

• 1:48:41Speaker 03

I have no idea. But we did.

• 1:48:45Speaker 04

  You guys got us.

• 1:48:49Speaker 01

We do we need, if you need to explain that joke and it's actual, it was a congressman.

• 1:48:54Speaker 03

  Congressman.

• 1:48:57Speaker 04

I can't remember who it was, but said very well educated.

• 1:49:01Speaker 01

And he, what was the question he asked about the Guam, the island?

• 1:49:05Speaker 04

It was because of US forces on Guam. If we staged too many there, it would tip the island over.

• 1:49:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:49:13The Fat Electrician?

  Islands are floating.

• 1:49:16Speaker 03

  God damn it.

• 1:49:17Speaker 01

  It's not.

• 1:49:20The Fat Electrician?

  That's your congressman.

• 1:49:23The Fat Electrician?

  Four star general like.

• 1:49:25Speaker 04

  Is that real?

• 1:49:26The Fat Electrician?

  Where's Ashton Kutcher at?

• 1:49:31Speaker 04

That's who you voted for. Yes.

• 1:49:33The Fat Electrician?

Pull that up because it is literal like a four star general like.

• 1:49:37Speaker 04

It was like a senate hearing or something.

• 1:49:38Speaker 05

My fear is that, uh, the whole island will, uh, become so overly populated that it will tip over and, uh, and capsize.

• 1:49:52Speaker 01

You're fucking with me, right? This is a retarded question.

• 1:49:56Speaker 03

No congressman, there is no possibility.

• 1:50:08Speaker 03

Politicians never cease to, trust me, they're little, but they also, uh, this is something I've found kind of interesting. So they have the Aegis ashore there and Aegis, um, is hands down, it's Skynet. It is the best air defense system in the world. And I say that knowing I'm a patriot guy. I mean, Aegis, it's, it's a bad bitch. Like there's a reason the Houthis aren't defeating it right now. It's in the Red Sea and it's just, stop it, stop it. Fucking keep your missiles down. Like they're just playing with you at this point. Um, but they took a Mark 41 VLS, the vertical launch system that sits on the Aegis.

• 1:50:37Speaker 01

Uh, one of my favorite vertical launches.

• 1:50:42Speaker 03

It's, it's all the cells that have the missiles in them. Okay.

• 1:50:46Speaker 04

Not quite as sophisticated as the back of the toy of the land.

• 1:50:50Speaker 01

Bang, I hit Ford's, Ford assists.

• 1:50:55Speaker 01

  Jesus.

• 1:50:55Speaker 03

So they, they took one, go ahead.

• 1:50:58The Fat Electrician?

I was gonna say I'd pay money to give him a vampire system.

• 1:51:01Speaker 03

Vampire, that I'd be all about.

• 1:51:02Speaker 04

When I, when I get like, level four cancer and it's like, it's gone, fucking load me up, I'm working everything.

• 1:51:09The Fat Electrician?

I'd feel like, we could probably cure cancer if we just went to the DOD and asked them to, okay, here's the deal. I need you to make really tiny cruise missiles that'll attack cells.

• 1:51:20The Fat Electrician?

  Injecting to people.

• 1:51:28Speaker 01

My ass is on fire, what the fuck?

• 1:51:30Speaker 03

No, that's when the DOD comes back, are the cells brown?

• 1:51:34Speaker 01

How much oil do the cells have?

• 1:51:44Speaker 01

  There comes Halliburton.

• 1:51:45Speaker 03

  Oh man.

• 1:51:48Speaker 03

  I'm sorry.

• 1:51:49Speaker 01

  Favorite bird.

• 1:51:51Speaker 03

So, the Mark 41 VLS, which they have standard missile twos, threes, and sixes in, there's no logic to the naming convention, because threes reach further than sixes, which reach further than twos, it's fucking weird. But they put standard missile threes in there, and they were able to recently annihilate, quite literally and effectively, a simulated mid-range ballistic missile. Just, and they did this on purpose, because Russia fired that mid-range ballistic missile that like, hit Kiev and Russia's like, we're the best ever, so US was like, cool, we're gonna show you that it's not, and they fired one of those at Guam, and Aegis smoked it 200 miles away from Guam, because Aegis is a bad bitch.

• 1:52:35Speaker 03

By the way, Google says Aegis's maximum range is like 173 miles, so.

• 1:52:40The Fat Electrician?

I guess that's gonna get updated on Google here.

• 1:52:42Speaker 04

  Yeah, lucky.

• 1:52:42The Fat Electrician?

  Yeah.

• 1:52:43Speaker 03

  Lucky shot.

• 1:52:44The Fat Electrician?

What they did also is they they took it, it's sitting, it's cool as shit. If you see the picture, they took the VLS and normally they just have a sitting upright, which is how it is on the ships. And they tilted it, which doesn't seem like a big deal until you realize that tilt can probably give it an extra 50 or 60 miles of range because instead of going up and over. Now it's just going over in that direction, which saves a lot of fuel. So we just be doing like, that's what Uncle Sam be doing all the time.

• 1:53:10Speaker 01

That's a dude is more terrifying. How do you feel about like how you see warfare now where it is drones? And that is where you that is where PTSD is coming from is just that sound of death.

• 1:53:20Speaker 04

Like I watched that on on all the different feeds, like Conflict Observer and all this. I'm like, that'll be scary. Like just following around, like just stalking you like, I see you. There's nothing I can fucking do about you. There's like some 14 year old Russian that grew up playing video games. It's like, ah, fuck you, America. I'm just gonna murder you. With no, there's no value of life. He's just like, oh, wow. This is how video games work. I'm gonna do it.

• 1:53:45Speaker 01

And he's scary as shit. It is complete disconnect because you're not pulling your trigger, you're not doing anything. You have a screen separation.

• 1:53:52Speaker 04

He's doing exactly what he's been doing since he was five, playing video games.

• 1:53:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:53:55Speaker 04

And there's no emotion. There's like, oh, a screen's a screen, whether it's a video game player or a person, to him, it doesn't matter.

• 1:54:02Speaker 01

And then the thermal ones are like.

• 1:54:04The Fat Electrician?

The scary, the scary part with that is in theory, like if you were actually gonna like, do drone warfare like that on an industrial scale, like if America launched that program, you could literally.

• 1:54:16Speaker 04

  Or China.

• 1:54:16The Fat Electrician?

Or anybody. Yeah. You could literally just like to eliminate that entirely. It's, um, you remember when they did a death by firing squad in Ohio? Like a couple of years back. It was like the last death by firing squad. The dude requested it, but the the way they did it was they had five shooters with high powered rifles. They were all gonna shoot center mass. One of them had a blank. And they didn't know who it was. That way, all five sugars could tell themselves they shot the blank.

• 1:54:44Speaker 01

Yeah, it was like when you would originally when two people would pull the electric chair.

• 1:54:48The Fat Electrician?

  Exactly.

• 1:54:48Speaker 01

It was, hey, one doesn't do it. That way, no one suffers the consequence. It's like, ah, that weighs on me. It is, oh, one of us killed. I don't know who did.

• 1:54:56The Fat Electrician?

You could literally have one drone pilot out of the 50 playing Arma 3, and everybody gets to tell themselves, I'm playing the video game. These aren't real people.

• 1:55:06Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's like.

• 1:55:07Speaker 03

You have a Red Enders game?

• 1:55:08The Fat Electrician?

  Exactly.

• 1:55:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:55:09The Fat Electrician?

  Okay, same fucking idea.

• 1:55:10Speaker 01

If you don't know Enders game, it is the, spoiler alert, it's like 30 years, read the goddamn book at this point. Uh, it is children, soldiers, like they're, they're going into this military school at the age of five. They're geniuses. And by the age of 12, they're disconnected from everything. They're working with their unit, and they're playing war games, but they're also playing this simulation with ships that they get a maneuver, maneuver around and fight the enemy in this video game. And they do this for years until the finals, like Ender's looking around. He has like all his team, the dragon team around him.

• 1:55:49The Fat Electrician?

Basically, he feels like he's on the final level.

• 1:55:52Speaker 01

Yeah, he's literally going into this. This is the final level. All the adults and generals are watching. I gotta pass this fucking test. And it is, okay, we're gonna do this. Oh, fuck, he, this is the only kid that can do this. Again, he's 12 years old. And finally, he's like, oh, I'll sacrifice all these by pinning one ship in the middle that has this device that will kill everything. All the other ships will protect it and it will hit the planet. And then this D-device will destroy everything around. It consumes all life. And then they hit it and everything dies. And then the adults are freaking out and the kids are like, ah, we won. Takes a moment. Like the kids are like, what the fuck's going on? The dolls are crying.

• 1:56:34Speaker 01

They're weeping. They're giving the kids hugs. And then he finds out it's like, hey, those were actually soldiers and that you were playing. Those were soldier fighters.

• 1:56:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:56:44Speaker 01

Yeah. So that is the moment. It was like you killed all the aliens, but you sacrificed all those people without knowing it because you thought it was a video game at that moment. And that is like, and it hits Ender. And then they have like multiple stories that roll out from that. It is.

• 1:56:58Speaker 03

  Oh shit. Great book.

• 1:56:59Speaker 01

  Dude, such a good book.

• 1:57:00Speaker 03

One of the best books I've ever read.

• 1:57:02Speaker 01

Yeah, that kid's like the trauma he goes through. And he doesn't know it. Like, he's just a tool for the government. And they don't tell him any of the trauma he does. And then finally at the end of the book, he's like, uh, this sucks. I just.

• 1:57:16Speaker 03

He exterminated an entire other race.

• 1:57:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:57:21Speaker 01

Yeah, Xenoside. And you're like, uh, fuck. Such a good book series.

• 1:57:26Speaker 03

Ender's Game is good. Ender's Shadow, I personally think is better. That's the second one. It's about being Speaker for the Dead was, that was okay. I wasn't a huge fan, but yeah, the series is pretty good.

• 1:57:36Speaker 01

Good book. If you haven't, like, it's a, and it is like a high school book. It hits fucking hard.

• 1:57:42Speaker 03

Like, don't watch the movie. The movie's ass.

• 1:57:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:57:45The Fat Electrician?

  About Guam.

• 1:57:48Speaker 01

  Kid was, tip it over.

• 1:57:49Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:57:50The Fat Electrician?

Guam is the funniest way America's ever taken over a country ever. So I did a video on it. I, I know you haven't seen it. Um, I'll recap it. Um, if you've already seen the video, sorry. You know how this, this is gonna be worse because I'm drunk this time and I haven't read it in six months. Um, so basically Japan took over Guam from America during World War II. And America goes, or sorry, no, way before that. Sorry. Spanish American War. Spain is in control of Guam. America enters the Spanish American War. They send out, um, a bunch of ships to go capture Guam from the Spanish because we're at war with them and we want to capture all the territory like the Philippines. And they sent out this massive fleet. They're supposed to, they're supposed to go back to the Philippines. Yeah.

• 1:58:32The Fat Electrician?

Put a kite on that bitch. We're gonna sail across the seven seas and go fuck people up, right? So this group gets a special mission. They're only supposed to open this letter after they get out to sea. They're like, hey, you're making a detour. You gotta go take out, capture Guam, and then head to the Philippines and capture it. So they go out, they get to Guam, there's this massive fort. There's supposed to be this entire Spanish armada there. These guys got to go fight. Everybody's pumped. And they get there, it's foggy, they can't see shit. And they're like, they see a ship off in the distance in this fog, and they're getting closer, they're getting closer. It's a Japanese ship, and we're totally friendly with them at the time. So we're like, what the fuck? So they get closer, and there's this massive fort that's supposed to have all these cannons. So they just start opening fire on this fort.

• 1:59:16The Fat Electrician?

  The fort's not returning fire.

• 1:59:20The Fat Electrician?

The fuck? So they just like, kind of sail right into the harbor, and the captain's like, drop anchor, I guess? So they drop anchor, and they're just chilling. They're like, getting boarding parties ready for their whaling boats to sail out to the, and they see what they assume are troops forming up on the beach. Like, okay, we're gonna fight them on land. Get ready, boys. And then these guys hop in canoes and start paddling their ass out to the boat. And they're like, what the fuck is going on? And they get out, and it's a whaling boat that comes out to the ship that has all of their government on it, except for the governor. And they're like, hey, what are you guys doing? And they're like, uh, we're, we're at war?

• 2:00:04Speaker 04

  Capturing your island?

• 2:00:05The Fat Electrician?

And they're like, what? Apparently, Spain just fucking didn't tell them that we were at war. And they had no clue. And they're like, they originally came out there to apologize, because they thought when they opened up fire on that fort, they thought that they were doing like, the fire the cannons as a salute for entering their port.

• 2:00:27Speaker 04

  Oops, sorry for that.

• 2:00:29The Fat Electrician?

They're like, sorry, we couldn't, we couldn't return your salute. We don't have any cannons or gunpowder functioning right now. And they're like, oh, but you're, you're like the whole government. And they're like, yeah, pretty much, except for the governor. Cool. You're our prisoners now. They helped the prisoners. They sent like one guy back with a letter to the governor like, hey, we're running this bitch now.

• 2:00:51Speaker 04

  This is mine.

• 2:00:52The Fat Electrician?

Yeah. And the governor's like forced to surrender. So then the captain's sitting there like, what the fuck do I do? I captured this in minutes.

• 2:01:00Speaker 04

  A country.

• 2:01:01The Fat Electrician?

Yeah, a country. And there's like a couple of Spanish soldiers. There's like 20 Spanish soldiers. They all surrender. They take them. There's like a local militia and the captain's like, it, the National Guard can go home. I don't give a shit. And then one of the Spanish soldiers is like, actually, I'm from Guam and I'm part of the militia. And he's like, fuck it. You can go home too. That guy's lying.

• 2:01:27The Fat Electrician?

So he bounces, he goes home.

• 2:01:31The Fat Electrician?

There's this one, another boat comes up and it's like the local merchant tycoon that runs like all the business on the island. And he speaks perfect English. They're like, you're white. What the fuck's the deal? What? Explain yourself. He's like, oh, I'm, I'm an elevator operator from Chicago. And they're like, what? He's like, yeah, I married some Guam chick and we moved out here and now I just kind of like run the business side of the island. And the captain's like, well, what the do we do? And he's like, you know what? And like shit's getting rowdy. Like the sailors were expecting a fight. They didn't get a fight. Now they're like, they're buying monkeys from the locals. They got pet monkeys on boats and shit, buying bananas and all kinds of crazy shit going on. The captain's like, I got sailors.

• 2:02:15The Fat Electrician?

I gotta get to the Philippines to go capture that. And he's like, fuck it, American dude. Congratulations. You're the president now. I gotta go. And he just dips and leaves. And just like, the one English dude is apparently running the country now. And we just don't show back up for like six months. Show up, they're like, we just, we just showed up to get coal because they were coal burning ships at this point in time. And the captain that's just there to get coal and refuel shows up and there's like a civil war about to break out between

• 2:02:54The Fat Electrician?

the faction that's now being run by this one ex-American dude who thinks he's in charge and the rest of the people from Guam. And they're like about to have this huge fight. So he comes in like, no, no. The Americans in charge, take all their guns. All right, we're gonna leave again and just dipped again for another six months. It was like a year and a half before they sent out and had like a military commander in charge of this island.

• 2:03:21The Fat Electrician?

So yeah, that's how we got Guam.

• 2:03:22Speaker 01

That explains a lot about Guam.

• 2:03:25Speaker 03

But it's still not gonna tip over, right?

• 2:03:28Speaker 01

  We're safe now.

• 2:03:30The Fat Electrician?

Yeah, we took all the monkeys for the counterweight. Monkeys are gonna do the counterweight, all the soldiers on the inside.

• 2:03:36Speaker 03

  Monkey ballast.

• 2:03:38Speaker 01

Holy shit. On that note, we're gonna close this episode out.

• 2:03:43Speaker 04

  It's been two hours, damn.

• 2:03:44Speaker 01

Dude, yeah, that was, yeah, more than two hours. Holy shit.
