SC EP:1141 A Glitch In The Matrix

Tonight I will be speaking to Wes who is from Wisconsin. Wes writes "This happened in the late 90's but I'm foggy on the exact yr. I know it had to be around 96 or 97 cause i was still too young to get into the bars and so most of my weekends were at house parties. This night is no different, I arrive at my friends place around midnight, I wanna say it was early fall when this story takes place cause i can still remember warming up my p.o.s. chevette. There were 3 other guys including myself, it was nothing exciting, just playing goldeneye on the 360, laughing our asses and enjoying life. Then suddenly one of the guys says that he's sick of sitting around and that we should go do something, we were all curious as to what he had in mind and suddenly my other buddy shouts out "the baby grave or or columbia mansion!!" We all looked at each other through bloodshot eyes, started laughing and shouted "lets go"! The "baby grave and Columbia Mansion" have been the haunted "goto" place for yrs around the Marshfield Wi area and they are both relatively close by in proximity, (within a mile or 2) tonight was no different. It really is the only "cool" place to go and possibly have any kind of paranormal experience, or so we were told. All 4 of us dragged our asses into one of the more reliable vehicles (89 grand prix!!) and got comfortable cause it was about a 45 min drive. The drive down was uneventful, we just joked around, talked about girls, shared the latest drama/rumors and that was pretty much it. After what seemed like an eternity, we finally arrived on columbia rd. Which was out in the sticks to say the least, if we had broken down or anything, I'm pretty sure I never would've found my way home. Luckily my buddy DJ (the driver) knew the approximate location of the baby grave but wasn't quite 100% sure. So we drove around for another hour trying to find this stupid baby grave,we were all getting impatient and one of us mentioned that we should just stop by the first house we see with the lights on. (as i'm remembering this, i couldn't believe our level of stupidity, I mean it was now about 2:30 in the am) but that didnt seem to effect our decision making, as you'll see, plus we were seriously lost now. After about 10 more mins of wandering aimlessly, now just looking for any sign of civilization instead of the baby grave, we finally came around a corner and saw this amazing iron gate that stood about 20 ft high. Right above it was a dim orange light glowing in the darkness, I yelled stop cause I saw this light, and another light on the porch front of this beautiful home. All 4 of us rubbernecked this huge iron gate and realized someone was awake in the room adjacent to the porch cause we could see them walking around. Now this was no ordinary mansion, it was reminiscent of an old barn that had been converted into a home, It looked lived in, but not dilapidated or unloved. It was quite beautiful. The paint was fresh, the gate looked new. The driveway leading into the yard looked well used and well manicured, the yard or what we could see of it, did look a little unmanaged, but not forgotten. I looked over at my buddy and said, "the gates open". My buddy kinda mumbled something like, "i'm not going in there". I looked at my friend, "Dawson" and he's like, "let's go". So myself and my buddy dawson squeezed through the open gate and approached the lit up porch. I still remember the feeling I got walking up those creeky steps, it's hard to explain, but I didn't feel fear, just a sense of something was wrong with this picture. Dawson didn't climb the steps, he just stood there waiting for me to knock. So I did. After about 30 seconds of uncomfortably waiting, I heard the inner door creek open and then the outer door popped open and I stepped back to let it swing by me. My first reaction was "what the fuck!!" cause what I was looking at was no ordinary old woman. This woman was about 4'11", had long thinning white whispy hair, looked to be over a hundred yrs old, she was wearing what seemed to be 1800s style clothing, the light on the deck was gas or a candle and what caught me even further off guard was she was holding a tray with a candle lit in it. But as soon as I noticed that I just as quickly forgot about cause she started talking to me. She spoke in old english, using the words "ye" and asking where our wagon was. Dawson and I were baffled and speechless. She then started asking about our shoes and where would we get something like that at this day and age. I didn't answer any of her questions, I just apologized for bothering her at such a late hour and asked if she could give us directions to the nearest town. She responded kindly and started telling us to take these "wagon trails" this and that way and we'll eventually find the town of Columbia. I said thankyou so much for your help and apologized again and we quickly walked back to the car. Dawson and I sat in the car silent. After what felt like hours but was probably only a min or 2, I looked over at dawson and asked if that really happened. He was in as much shock as I was and whispered, " I think so". Our other 2 friends were now in the front seat and kept asking what happened, who did we talk to, did you find out how to get the hell out of here? I was silent. I stared out the window and could still se her silhouette moving around. Dawson asked our other 2 friends to stop asking questions and turn around, get the hell out of here. We used the directions the lady gave us and that took us to what we had been looking for, this whole time. The baby grave. We parked the car, got out and told our other 2 friends the story of what we had just witnessed. They were as baffled and speechless as dawson and I were. But thats when we heard it. At first we couldn't make out what the sound was, but i kept getting louder and louder...and louder until it sounded like it was in the bushes 20 ft away from us. It was a baby crying, long terrible cries. Cries that make you wanna run to the baby and console it, do anything to comfort the child. It was terrifying and incredibly disheartening. I could feel my eyes welling up for this screaming baby, knowing theres nothing I can do to help it. All 4 of us just stood there looking in all directions and we could all see fear in each others eyes. Without a word we jumped in the car and headed back the way we came, spinning the tires off our 89 grand prix, somehow knowing our night wasn't over and dreading every second. Nobody was speaking, all of us had one thing in mind, get to the highway, get home. Thats when we saw it. "Theres no possible way, I was thinking, what am I looking at? This can't be the same house"! We were now looking at the iron gate. (the same iron gate that was new an hour ago) Dj slowed the car to a crawl, it no longer was new, the light above it no longer glowed. The gate now hung off it's hinges, rusty, just barely dangling there. The driveway was overgrown, the porch had a tree growing through it, weeds had invaded and took it over, 7 ft tall briar bushes, were now where we had just walked an hour ago. The paint was flaking off badly, some places no longer had paint, just exposed boards, half the friggin house was caved in, the porchlight was hanging off the wall for what seemed to be for years. But one thing had remained the same throughout this impossible adventure. The little old lady was still pacing around with her candle lit in her tray. All 4 of us could see her, and all 4 of us felt like our minds were lost. Confusion had set in, we started arguing. "how could this be", "are we sure this is the same house", "that can't be the little old lady", all these questions were being shout out. Dawson and I both shouted at what seemed like the exact same moment, "floor it" and so DJ did. No words were spoken, I could hear our friend Knetter crying. I placed my hand on his shoulder and told him that we'll all talk about it after we get back. But sadly after we got back none of us ever really spoke again, this memory has been with me now for about 35 yrs and last year I received confirmation that it did happen. An old highschool friend reached out to me, telling me that she had heard about our story from one of the other 3 guys. She mentioned that her mom grew up just kitty korner from the "columbia mansion" and there have been several similar ghost stories that have happened throughout the years, not just to her mom, but to her moms friends. What's even weirder is the town the old lady told me to goto, was called "Columbia" and all that's left of that town was the baby grave. Oh and one more thing, upon the drive home from that crazy night, I realized we were visiting both these places in between 3 and 4am. I think about this night often, constantly remembering it, wondering what we had witnessed. Did we get caught in a time slip, would it happen again if I went back? How was this even possible? So many questions, especially now that it's been confirmed. The second story is much more recent. It involves some kind of weird cryptid that was invisible. But if you wanna hear that one let me know."

Alright Wes, this is my boy Jack.

• 0:07Speaker 01

  Hi.

• 0:08Wes Germer?

  Hey Jack, how are you?

• 0:10Speaker 01

  Good.

• 0:11Wes Germer?

What you got going on today?

• 0:14Speaker 01

  Uh, just playing my game.

• 0:16Wes Germer?

Oh nice. Do you play Xbox or computer or the phone?

• 0:21Speaker 01

  Uh, phone.

• 0:23Wes Germer?

Yeah, I've kinda moved over to phone games as well. Uh, it seems like guys your age destroy me in Call of Duty on the Xbox. It really is a pleasure to meet you, Jack.

• 0:37Speaker 01

  You too.

• 0:39Wes Germer?

Let me ask you, what do you think Bigfoot is?

• 0:42Speaker 01

Uh, I think it's like, it got stuck in the evolution between cavemen and apes.

• 0:53Wes Germer?

Yeah, that's a great answer, Jack. A lot of people say that. Uh, they'll say it was somewhere between a man and an animal or an ape as far as what they've seen. Uh, if you had the chance, would you ever wanna see one?

• 1:07Speaker 01

  Maybe, maybe not.

• 1:12Wes Germer?

That's quite possibly the greatest non-answer I've ever heard. Uh, do you have a favorite episode?

• 1:19Speaker 01

Uh, it's a hard one. Probably one of my favorites is, I forgot the name of it, but it was, um, when the house was there and this dude went to it, but it, but it got destroyed four years ago.

• 1:37Wes Germer?

Oh yeah, 1139 withdrew. Uh, that one scared me. Did it scare you?

• 1:44Speaker 01

  Kind of.

• 1:45Wes Germer?

Kind of? Man, what's it take to impress you?

• 1:50Wes Germer?

I'll tell you what, Jack, I'll put you in my intro. Uh, do you wanna say this is Jack and you're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles?

• 1:59Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 2:01Speaker 01

This is Jack and you're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles.

• 2:05Wes Germer?

That was perfect, Jack, and I'll put you in the intro if it's okay with you.

• 2:10Speaker 01

Yes. This is one of my biggest dreams to be on your show.

• 2:20Speaker 03

It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up and that, that shocked me.

• 2:41Speaker 03

They don't make people that, that big.

• 2:48Speaker 04

The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything move like that in my life.

• 3:02Speaker 04

They were screaming at each other in gibberish.

• 3:06Speaker 04

It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away, back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards.

• 3:14Speaker 04

I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that I saw bears.

• 3:31Speaker 05

911, what are you reporting? Jesus Christ, you better... Sir? See ya! Hello? Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? That son of a bitch is about six foot nine, I don't know. Do you see him now, sir? Yes, I'm looking right at him. Uh-oh.

• 3:56Speaker 01

This is Jack and you're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles.

• 4:28Wes Germer?

Welcome to the show, everyone. Thanks for being here tonight. Got a great show planned for you. We'll be chatting with Wes. And Wes comes to us from Wisconsin. And back in the late 90s, he had this very strange encounter when they went up to this old rundown mansion. And I'll kind of let Wes go into it. If you've had an encounter, and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is [email protected]. And if you get a chance, check out sasquatchchronicles.com. You can become a member and get additional shows. Let's jump into it tonight. Wes, we finally meet.

• 5:13Speaker 00

  Good to meet you.

• 5:15Wes Germer?

Yeah, it's good to meet you, Wes. I haven't met too many Wes's in my life. Is your full name Wesley?

• 5:22Speaker 00

  Nope, it's Weston.

• 5:24Wes Germer?

  Oh, you lucked out, man.

• 5:26Speaker 00

  No, no, I don't, I don't agree.

• 5:32Speaker 00

I was always envious of the Wesley's. But, you know, Weston, Weston means west of town. So there's no significance there at all.

• 5:41Wes Germer?

Yeah, the whole Wesley thing was a weapon my mother used when I knew I was in deep, deep due to, you know, I knew I was in trouble. When she'd start throwing that name around. And it probably something I deserved at the time. But it's, anyway, you know, you had this encounter happen to you back in the late 90s out there in Wisconsin. If you would take me back to that moment, what were you guys doing? And what happened?

• 6:12Speaker 00

Okay, sure. Yeah, it uh, well, it was another boring night. I was in my late eighteen, nineteen, twenty. You know, just kinda hanging out and um. I was bored and normally, you know, we in that timeframe, there was no school, so we're always kinda partying and uh. I decided to go to my buddy's place and we're all kinda just sitting around hanging, watching TV um. I think we were playing Goldeneye as a matter of fact and uh, we were just literally just dying of boredom and we never did anything fun together. We always kinda just did the same old thing and

• 6:56Speaker 00

one of my friends kinda yelled out, he's like, well, let's go do something that's more interesting than playing video games and I'm like, what else is there? I mean, we're in the middle of nowhere. All so around here is farms and you know, bars and uh, we can't go into the bars and and no fun in our farm and one of the guys like, let's go check out the Columbia Mansion. And we've heard stories repetitively with from our other friends, talk about how haunted it is and apparently it's this mansion about forty minutes from where we were, which was Marshfield, Wisconsin and uh. I'm like, we're not doing anything anyway. It's midnight.

• 7:39Speaker 00

What the hell? You know, so we all kind of agreed and like, let's just go check it out and the main driver, the the guy that kinda that suggested it had an idea of where to go and we all knew it was out by this town called Neillsville, but we didn't know where. He luckily had more of an understanding of where it was and uh, so we jumped in his car and

• 8:06Speaker 00

Took off and headed, you know, just for an adventure and um we drove about forty minutes or so and by the time we'd gotten there, it is like one, one thirty and we were still wandering aimlessly. Trying to find what there's Columbia Mansion, which is the haunted mansion and then there's another part of it called the baby grave and the baby grave is supposedly where this young child was accidentally killed or accidentally run over. I don't know the story. Um, but supposedly you can go to this grave and you can hear the baby crying.

• 8:48Speaker 00

Not exactly sure why didn't anybody want to do that, but you know, curiosity killed the cat and so that's what we did and we were looking and looking and looking and we must have looked for over an hour trying to find this place and all, all that marked it was a big metal cross about four feet high. And um, it was kind of like a cul-de-sac, but in the middle of the forest. And um, we're in the Jackson County State Forest too and uh, so it's heavily wooded and there's so many side roads. That were, you know, you could literally drive forever and never find the end of it and uh,

• 9:27Speaker 00

we finally were just overwhelmed with trying to find this place that we were about to just give up and now we're at the point of just like, where do we go and how do we get out of here? And at that particular moment, we came around the corner and lo and behold, there's this beautiful iron gate about twenty feet tall, standing, you know, tall and proud, right about twenty feet from the side of the road.

• 9:58Speaker 00

And um, big orange glowing bulb on it and we're like, oh wow, you know, look at this and we kind of slowed down because now we just wanted to get, get out of there and get directions back to the, the highway and uh, so I kind of was like, I, I don't know how I became the voice of reason. Nobody ever listened to me. Uh, but I was just like, guys, maybe we should stop and ask and you know, kind of agreed and we're like, okay, you know, and we look, we, we kind of look at this gate and it's beautiful. It's very immaculate and um, behind it was this old, I want to say it's a mansion, but it wasn't. It was a

• 10:39Speaker 00

a, a barn style, almost like a regular barn converted into a large home. And I was just, wow, you know, it's gorgeous and there's this porch and there's a light on it and we could see somebody moving around in what I assumed was the kitchen. And um, so my two buddies, the ones in front, Sean and DJ, they didn't want none to do with it. They're like, no way, you know? So me and my friend Sean Dawson, we're in the back and we're always more of the adventurous type. So I was like, well, I guess I'll go and ask and Sean Dawson, he was like, yeah, okay, you know, I'll come with you. And so we kind of walk

• 11:20Speaker 00

over there and uh, the gate, we could barely, we just barely squeeze through it. I mean, it was only about eight inches of leeway to get between that gate and um, luckily we were skinny back in the day. But we got through and we got up to the, it was just a simple porch, three steps up and then there was a patio door and a regular door and regular insulated door and then it was, well, it looked like a kitchen. And um, as I walked up to the, the staircase or the porch, I immediately felt something that was off. I don't know what it was. I don't know, understand why I felt anything

• 12:03Speaker 00

because I was just going to knock on a door, but we uh, I knocked on the door and you know, a minute later. The inside door opens and then the outside door opens and I step back. And here is probably the oldest woman I've ever seen in my life. Standing there looking at me, looking up at me and I'm only five eight. So she must have been like four foot eleven. She was petite and she had wispy white hair, real light and real thin. Fading or blowing in the slight breeze. I mean, she was very old and um. She was wearing a very

• 12:46Speaker 00

dark garment that was reminiscent of what you see in pictures in eighteen eighties. And I was kind of taken back by that, but then she started talking and that's what even made it weirder. She's like, you know, how can I help you boys? And I'm like, that was weird. Okay, I'm I'm like, ma'am, I apologize. It's very late. Um, me and my friends just wanna yeah, find a ride or find a way back to the highway. And she, I wish I could remember everything she said, but it was it was so beyond what we would expect.

• 13:25Speaker 00

Like she was speaking in a in a a tone that you would don't, you won't, you won't hear. It was just like, um, she said something to the effect of like, I I know nothing of a highway. Or what a highway is, but I can give you directions. Um, you know, with the wagon trails in the area. And wagon trails threw me off as well. I was like, why would she say wagon trails? And I kind of side eyed my buddy and he's looking at me confused. And then she was, as we're kind of conversating. She kind of eyed me up and down and she's like, where does one get such shoes?

• 14:10Speaker 00

And you know, pants or um slacks, she called them slacks. And I was like, at the store.

• 14:19Speaker 00

She's like, I I know no such store that sells those items. And I'm like, I go, well, yeah, they're everywhere, you know? And I really didn't know what to, how to react to this. Um, so then the more she.

• 14:37Speaker 00

Was in interested in what we were wearing, the more she, the more questions she asked, the more of a vibe I got that something was really off and I don't, I, I really didn't know what I was speaking to and um I got the directions, she, she literally described these roads as wagon trails, follow this wagon trail to this wagon trail, turn right here and you know, and I'm like, I, I, are these wagon trails so new, so I don't know, is it, is it road or wagon trail? So, I uh, got done talking to her and my buddy, you could see that he was just kind of

• 15:19Speaker 00

in shock. I thanked her for her time, I thanked her for the directions. She didn't say anything in return. She just shut the door and walked away. And oh, another thing, oh, one other thing that she was doing, that, that she was holding was a plate or like a, it, it had a finger loop in it, it was a, it was a plate. But it had a candle, there was no lights, there was no electricity, I couldn't see any electrical lights on at all, but she was holding a plate with a candle on it, the whole time we spoke. And that was really odd as well, I kind of thought, well, maybe the power went on or something, but there was a light above the gate and a light above the

• 16:03Speaker 00

deck or the, the porch there. Um, but I think they're all gas, honestly, and um so I get down, we go to the car and we kind of are in, I'm just baffled and Sean Dawson, he kind of looks at me and he's like, you know, what just happened? And I kind of was like, the same thing with him, I'm like, I don't understand what we just went through. Why was she like this? Why did she talk like that? Why did she describe roads as wagon trails? And it was really odd, so

• 16:37Speaker 00

our buddies were kind of like pestering us, like, what the hell just happened? What happened to you guys? Why are you so shaken? Why are you so freaked out? And we weren't really giving them the time of day because we were just kind of trying to process it. And uh, so after about a minute of them barraging us with questions, um, my buddy Dawson was like, just guys back up, turn around, take a left onto the road. So they did. We followed these, you know, in air, air quotes, um, these wagon trails were, were roads for us and we did end up getting to

• 17:16Speaker 00

uh, the baby grave. And another thing she said was it will take you to a town called Columbia, but we were on a road called Columbia Road. So that did kind of play into it. That was like, okay, well, maybe there is a few buildings up. We never knew anything about it. We just knew about Columbia Mansion and Columbia Road. But we got, we ended up at this cul-de-sac with this white metal cross. And we just kind of got out and we just smoked cigarettes, drank beer and just kind of bullshitted for about three minutes. And then we heard it. And it was the most disturbing thing I've ever heard in my life and I have children.

• 18:00Speaker 00

Um, so whenever I hear a baby cry, I think of this, but it was, it started quiet. And it was kind of haunting immediately. Um, it was like a whimper in the woods. And then it progressively got louder and then it got louder and it was surrounding us. And it was a baby. If you ever heard a baby screaming at the top of his lungs from sheer pain and torment. That's what it was. And it was non-stop and it was so loud and deafening that we all, all four of us, nineteen, twenty year old guys that don't cry at anything were bawling.

• 18:46Speaker 00

It was so horrific. Like I can't, I'll never get it out of my head. You know, every time I hear one of my kids cry, it takes me back to that, that time. Um, so we jumped in the car and we took off, just fricking got the hell out of there as fast as we could. Turned and went the same direction we came from. And we're, we knew where the house was gonna be coming up and we came around the corner. And that's when everything just kind of fell apart. We were just utterly bewildered.

• 19:21Speaker 00

We looked here, we, we came around the corner. I expected the glowing light above the gate to be shining. And it wasn't. Uh, the gate itself was rusty, now hanging off its hinges. Um, the yard previously had looked well maintained, well manicured. Um, the house looked relatively well taken care of, new paint. Um, none of that was what it was anymore. It was all dilapidated. The whole, half the house was collapsed. There is a tree growing through the spot where I was, where I was standing. A tree the size of, you know, twelve inches in diameter.

• 20:06Speaker 00

Was growing. The lamp that was over my head on the porch was now hanging down. Um, it had aged a hundred years in about twenty minutes.

• 20:19Speaker 00

And we were just kind of stopped and we all were just bewildered. Um, and I've never told this to anybody. I've told maybe my kids. But they, this is like something that I haven't even spoken out loud in years and it just. It felt like we had entered some kind of paranormal dream, like maybe it wasn't real. Um, it was just

• 20:49Speaker 00

so hard to process and to comprehend. We watched, we just kind of stood there, you know, I wouldn't say, I mean, we were sitting in the car, but we we were stopped in the middle of the road, middle of a gravel road looking at this, what was new twenty minutes ago is now, you know, dilapidated and falling apart. And we couldn't process, we couldn't think of what just happened. And we never had, none of us have ever had any paranormal experience before this, as far as I know. And me myself, I've always been interested in it, but I've never experienced it until now. And I didn't handle it well.

• 21:33Speaker 00

You know, I, I think I had a minor panic attack. And I kept asking what was happening, why was this happening, what is happening? And we all kind of started arguing with each other. And like, is this the right house? This can't be the right house. There's, there's no way this is the same house. We were just here, you know, this was new. We parked in the driveway, we couldn't even park in the driveway. There were briar bushes, seven feet tall. I mean, and if you've ever seen a briar bush, you can't get through that stuff. Um, the, the fence itself literally was hanging forty five degrees off. Not the fence, but the gate was hanging forty five degrees off its hinge. You know, there is, um.

• 22:16Speaker 00

Uh, the worst part about everything about all of this. Was you could still see somebody walking around in the kitchen, holding a candle. And that's what, because we had been sitting there for about a minute and a half. Not expecting anything else to happen, not expecting any more surprises. And then out of nowhere, from the corner, we watched her walk from one wall to another. And we're only maybe eighty feet. From the road to the, the, the kitchen. And that's when we knew, like, okay, well, this is a ghost. Let's get the hell out of here, you know, so we took off.

• 22:57Speaker 00

Honest to God, we, none of us ever said a word to each other. Almost all the way home, except for like, maybe I had to stop and go to the bathroom or something like that. A couple of us were crying, I'm not gonna say who. Uh, but it really affected us. We all went our separate ways and we never spoke again after that night. And that's what happened.

• 23:20Wes Germer?

Yeah, that's creepy, man. I um, I know I just had Drew on episode 1139.

• 23:27Speaker 00

That's what that's what inspired me to come on.

• 23:30Wes Germer?

Yeah, and I've been getting a lot of these type of accounts lately ever since I had Drew on. And I've read about accounts like this before, but rarely do you ever get a chance to talk to someone who was actually there. Uh, when you were actually talking to the old woman, there was nothing really strange about her in the sense of obviously she was strange, the way she spoke, the way she was dressed and everything else, but you didn't get the impression that she was a ghost or anything like that. You were thinking you were talking to an older woman?

• 24:07Speaker 00

It was like talking to my grandma. Honestly, it was, she was solid form. Um, no transparency, no weirdness, except for her um, voice or her speech.

• 24:21Wes Germer?

Yeah, in your email, you described it as kind of that old English way of speaking.

• 24:27Speaker 00

Yeah, that was our first clue. And it got worse after that.

• 24:32Wes Germer?

And so you guys get to the gravesite that you were looking for. Where was the noise of the baby crying coming from?

• 24:40Speaker 00

Everywhere, all around us. We had, it was literally, we're in the middle of a, of a, uh, Coney for State Forest, Jackson Coney State Forest. Jackson Coney, I don't remember. Anyway, it was Jackson something forest and it is solid woods out there. And um, if you've ever been to Wisconsin, our woods are thick. And they're practically impenetrable at places. Um, and um, but yeah, it was, it was everywhere. It was so weird. It didn't come from one particular spot. It just surrounded us.

• 25:14Wes Germer?

So strange, the old woman at the house and how the home appeared to you. Um, did you ever research that home or even try and figure out who that old woman might have been at one time?

• 25:29Speaker 00

I did. My, um, one of my friends I went to school with. It was weird because she, I don't know how she heard about my story unless one of the other guys mentioned it and she got wind of it, but it turns out that her mom grew up just down the road from there down. Apparently they lived on a real long driveway. And um, I, we, I guess we probably passed it, not even realizing that one of our friends was just on the road from us. Um, but she told me that her mom had experienced the same thing.

• 26:10Wes Germer?

Oh, as far as running into the old woman?

• 26:13Speaker 00

  Yeah.

• 26:14Wes Germer?

Yeah, it's weird, man. It's, um, I know in your email you had written about, you know, you felt like it was some weird time slip, but wh- wh- I mean, what do you think was actually going on there?

• 26:27Speaker 00

I wish I knew. I mean, that's, I've, I've heard many stories similar to mine. And we, I just go with time slip. I mean, I remember when I stepped on the porch and had that feeling. I think it, I don't know if it started then. It couldn't have because the gate was new when we approached it. Like it was a facade. Yeah, I don't know. I, I, I, I'm just, I go with time slip and I'm, I don't know how it starts or where it starts. But we obviously entered it and exited it.

• 27:09Wes Germer?

Have you ever gone back to the home?

• 27:11Speaker 00

Never. Nope. Can't find it. I can't find it. I talked to my friend about that and that was, well, when I discussed it with her, it was about two years ago. And, um,

• 27:26Speaker 00

She mentioned that the house itself is probably just pile of rubble now. But I've never been back in that area. I never really had a chance to get back there, but other people have told me that there's nowhere, it's nowhere. It never was there almost, but I don't know if that's true or not. I'm just going off what they say.

• 27:49Wes Germer?

Yeah, you know, in these paranormal encounters, uh, you'll find either one of two things is going on. Either one, it's kind of residual or it's interactive. And I had Rocky Elmore on the show. He's a retired border patrol agent. And his partner, gosh, I wish I could remember the partner's name. I want to say Officer Sanchez for some reason. Uh, anyway, he was up there one night. Rocky had the night off and uh, this agent was actually killed by coyotes. Uh, not the animal. It's what they call the people who kind of run the human trafficking.

• 28:32Wes Germer?

The weird part about uh, Rocky's story is this officer who passed away kept showing back up. Like they would come across these people on the trail, just standing there waiting. And the border patrol agents would come up upon them and say, you know, what are you guys doing? And they would say, the other border patrol agent told us to wait right here. Uh, and they're like, what other border patrol agent? And time and time again, they would describe this border patrol agent who died. Uh, and there was a major incident where a bunch of illegals were coming across the border.

• 29:13Wes Germer?

And this border patrol agent went through, he pulled his pistol out and started shooting at these people. So everyone scatters and most of the coyotes actually go over the cliff. Cause he just comes out of the forest, gun drawn, firing. And they're all freaked out. They're all scared. And even the FBI got involved in that whole incident. And there's a write-up by the FBI. They were looking for this border patrol agent. They were going to charge him and put him in jail for uh, shooting at these people and running most of them off the cliff. And it wasn't until they found out, oh, he died a month ago. He's no longer here.

• 29:54Wes Germer?

But they took each one of these eyewitnesses and interviewed them and they would describe this agent that had passed away a month prior. Strange man, but there's a lot of interaction going on there. I interviewed this guy one time. He had Sasquatch on his property and I'd asked him, is there anything else going on the property that is odd or strange? And he described these two little girls he would see in the daytime and they were dressed like they were from the 1800s. These two little girls and they were walking down this trail in the direction of where the school used to be. Now it's a pile of rubble, but and he said they

• 30:36Wes Germer?

weren't, they weren't see-through. I mean, they look like little girls and they were playing and they were laughing and you know, doing what little kids do. And then they would vanish and but he would see this over and over and over again, almost like a movie. He couldn't interact with them or they wouldn't interact with him. But it was the same thing over and over and over again. And I, if my memory is right, those two little girls were murdered back in the early 1800s, late 1700s. So you know, situations like that, it's like, man, you know, what is it? A glitch? Like a glitch in the matrix?

• 31:14Speaker 00

I'm thinking it might be. I, you know, glitch in the matrix is a perfect way of explaining that. Like maybe everything's a simulation. I don't know. I don't know what to believe anymore. I mean, I've had so many experiences from then. Um, I've had, you know, a number of paranormal experiences and I don't know how to, like, I listen to podcasts, not just yours, but other ones as well, about hauntings and how strange everything is out there. I mean, we live in a very strange world.

• 31:47Wes Germer?

Yeah, so strange, man. You know, like you walking up, talking to the lady. Everything's very physical. It's not like you're in a dreamland and you're there with other people. Uh, it's kind of like Drew's encounter. Um, I had a lady who contacted me. Um, and she's a businesswoman and uh, she's talking about this house that disappeared, this rental house. And uh, she doesn't listen to the show, but her friend did. And her friend's like, you gotta hear. It was episode 1139 with Drew and uh, she was telling me about her account. We live in a weird world, man. There's a lot of weird stuff going on. But Brent Thomas from the paranormal portal, I kind of brought it up to him.

• 32:32Wes Germer?

Uh, cause I tend to think all things are spiritual or probably demonic and deception. But uh, he had brought up the whole fact that sometimes these encounters are residual. And sometimes you can interact with them. That's very strange. I really appreciate you sharing it. Tell me about the encounter you had coming out of the woods with um, a potential cryptid.

• 33:02Speaker 00

Okay, um, can I get my boy?

• 33:04Wes Germer?

  Yeah, of course.

• 33:06Speaker 00

Okay, give me one second. I kind of parked myself in the garage, so I don't get disturbed. I had to go get him. Hey, Jack, come here. He is so excited to talk to you.

• 33:19Speaker 00

All right, Wes, this is my boy, Jack.

• 33:21Speaker 01

  Hi.

• 33:22Wes Germer?

  Hey, Jack, how are you?

• 33:24Speaker 01

  Good.

• 33:25Wes Germer?

What you got going on today?

• 33:28Speaker 01

  Uh, just playing my game.

• 33:30Wes Germer?

Oh, nice. Do you play uh, Xbox or computer or the phone?

• 33:36Speaker 01

  Uh, phone.

• 33:37Wes Germer?

Yeah, I've kind of moved over to uh, phone games as well. Uh, it seems like guys your age destroy me and Call of Duty on the uh, Xbox. It really is a pleasure to meet you, Jack.

• 33:51Speaker 01

  You too.

• 33:53Wes Germer?

Let me ask you, what do you think Bigfoot is?

• 33:56Speaker 01

Uh, I think it's like it got stuck in the evolution between cavemen and apes.

• 34:07Wes Germer?

Yeah, that's a great answer, Jack. A lot of people say that. Uh, they'll say it was somewhere between a man and an animal or an ape as far as what they've seen. Uh, if you had the chance, would you ever want to see one?

• 34:22Speaker 01

  Maybe, maybe not.

• 34:25Wes Germer?

That's quite possibly the greatest non-answer I've ever heard. Uh, do you have a favorite episode?

• 34:34Speaker 01

Uh, it's a hard one. Probably one of my favorites is, I forgot the name of it, but it was, um, when the house was there and this dude went to it, but it, but it got destroyed four years ago.

• 34:52Wes Germer?

Oh, yeah. 1139 withdrew. Uh, that one scared me. Did it scare you?

• 34:59Speaker 01

  Kind of.

• 35:00Wes Germer?

Kind of. Man, what's it take to impress you? I'll tell you what, Jack. I'll put you in my intro. Uh, do you want to say this is Jack and you're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles?

• 35:14Speaker 01

Yes. This is Jack and you're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles.

• 35:20Wes Germer?

That was perfect, Jack. And I'll put you in the intro if it's okay with you.

• 35:25Speaker 01

Yes. This is one of my biggest dreams to be on your show.

• 35:31Wes Germer?

Well, thank you, Jack. And I'll definitely put you in the intro. It was an honor having you on.

• 35:38Speaker 01

  You too.

• 35:40Speaker 00

  Thank you.

• 35:41Speaker 01

  Thanks.

• 35:42Wes Germer?

Thank you, Jack. It was a pleasure chatting with you.

• 35:45Speaker 01

You too. Okay, have a good time.

• 35:49Wes Germer?

  Thanks, brother.

• 35:51Speaker 00

All right. Okay, there we go. He's freaking out.

• 35:57Speaker 00

  Okay, so anyway.

• 36:00Wes Germer?

  You have a great son.

• 36:02Speaker 00

Thank you. Yeah, I'm pretty proud of him. Yeah, he was a real uh brave little dude in the forest to tell you. Tell you the story. Um, so you asked about um the crypton corner that I possibly had. Uh, it was two years ago and um so, okay, so I'm I'm recovering from where I was on the. I was on the end of my recovery to a major surgery on my ankle where I had torn. My uh ruptured my Achilles tendon and my posterior tendon. And so I had to get a bunch of screws and stuff in my foot and I was talking to my son. I'm like, you know, I gotta get out. I gotta walk.

• 36:46Speaker 00

You know, to do my physical therapy and um Jack was like, well, let's go squirrel hunting. And there's this forest about ten minutes as a crow flies away from us. That is public and uh we're like, okay, you know, so that's what we did. Grab both twenty twos, jumped in the truck and headed out there, not expecting anything remotely, you know. Weird to happen. So we get into the woods and the woods is weird. It's um, there's only one access way into this forest. And it's literally you gotta walk about a half a mile through a swamp. And then uh and then once you get to the swamp, you gotta walk another two hundred yards.

• 37:31Speaker 00

Through decidu- through a hardwood forest and then you finally get on the main trail and then it goes north and south. And um so we got through the swamp, we got onto the main trail and we started heading south and it's about. Um, eight hundred acres of uh but then there's also surrounding forest around it as well, public or private forest. So it's it's relatively large. There's a lot and then it's attached to the Okanto River. Which is really, you know, kind of its own thing. Nobody has any houses on it or anything like that. It. Flows through uh the Nicolay Forest, which is millions of acres and it combines with this forest.

• 38:14Speaker 00

So there's a lot of land out there and um anyway, so we're out there, we're hiking and we're walking and talking and looking for squirrels and it was in uh, I want to say early November, I think. I'm not hundred percent sure, but

• 38:31Speaker 00

we're, we get to the end of the trail, we walk all the way to the end of the public forest and we turn around and we start heading back. And we um, we get about halfway up to where we got to turn to go through the swamp to get to the truck. And I got Jack to my left side and I'm holding, I got my pistol and I'm holding the rifle and um, I hear a large, heavy footsteps running towards us and it was, it sounded like wet feet on pavement, which I don't understand how because

• 39:10Speaker 00

it was leaf litter everywhere and that's what threw me off. I like immediately like I heard that and I heard it approaching and as I heard it running up behind us. I, I immediately turned and faced behind me and I didn't see anything, but I heard it leave the trail and kind of crash into the woods behind these, this grove of small pine trees. And I'm like, what the, and Jack was like, what was that? And I'm like, I don't know, you know, and I, I have no idea. And I thought maybe a person, maybe, uh, cause it sounded bipedal. It was like step, step, step, you know, and real heavy and loud though and um,

• 39:53Speaker 00

I'm like, okay, that's strange. And but then we heard breathing and it's only about forty feet away from us. We hear it breathing and it was like a old large man that's been smoking for forty years. I mean, it was raspy and loud and heavy. And I'm like, Jack, I said, I don't know what's happening here. And I put him behind me. Oh, I mean, like, he was practically, you know, wrapped around my, my leg and um, we hear it moving.

• 40:27Speaker 00

And it it's still making this loud, heavy breathing. And I see, or I I'm looking through, I'm screening my eyes to see this thing. And there isn't that much cover. I mean, every, all the leaves are off the trees. These pine trees are tamarack, so their needles are practically gone too. They're yellow and hanging off, you know, they're almost, it's almost bare branches. And I can't see anything. But I can, I know it's right there. I can hear it moving. I can hear the leaves crackier, crunching and tree branches cracking.

• 41:06Speaker 00

And um, it kind of moves about, I want to say maybe ten or fifteen feet to become parallel with us. And then it lets out this incredible frickin growl that shook us, you know, like Jack was i- immediately tears are running on his cheek. And I, for me, I was just like, this isn't happening. There's no way, but then Jack confirmed it by saying, Dad, what just growled at us? And I was like, oh, my God. So this is really happening. Okay, what the hell are we not seeing?

• 41:47Speaker 00

And so we're both screening our fa- our eyes, just can't see nothing. There is nothing there. But it's moving, it's walking forty feet away from us, maybe a little less, probably. Uh, going from forty to thirty to twenty um, pretty quickly. And then, you know, but there is nothing there, Wes. I I don't get it. I'm literally mind blown, you know. What, and so I'm like looking at the ground. Is there something crawling on the ground, you know? Nothing on the ground. Is there something in the tree? Maybe something's dropping something. You know, and and there's, but it doesn't make any sense because we can hear the footsteps.

• 42:28Speaker 00

So this happened for about two or three minutes and it was it was um growing and breathing, not like roar, but more like, oh, you know, kinda showing it seemed like, hey, here I am, but there's nothing there. So me and Jack could just keep walking down the trail and I'm like, don't run. I said, just don't run. You stay to my right, because it was to my left, you know, and I gave him the rifle and I had the pistol and they're only 22s. What the hell is that gonna do, you know, shoot in the eye, I guess. But what are you gonna, there's nothing either you, what are you gonna shoot at? There's nothing there. But it did this for about 100 yards.

• 43:11Speaker 00

It just was right beside us and there was never at any point in time. And I was literally walking forward, looking left the entire time on this trail. And there was never at one point where we saw anything ever. And we get to where we had to turn right to get out of the woods. And um, we did. And you know, I practically was walking backwards the whole time. I could hear it still. I could hear breathing. I could hear, you know, I remember I heard at one point um, scratching on a tree. You know, like it was resting on the tree and maybe it dragged its

• 43:50Speaker 00

hand on it. I don't know. And um, but yeah, we walked out and we got almost all the way to the truck. And then we hear something, it wasn't following us at all. There was nothing, it was gone. That was it. But then as we got to the truck, we heard the roar again or the growl. And it was as loud as if it was standing right beside us. And then it started running through the swamp towards us, jumped in the truck and we took off. And that was it.

• 44:21Wes Germer?

You know, this is probably the most frustrating encounter to have. It's scary, first of all, but I will say 80 or 90% of everyone that has this type of encounter, they never see it. They never see what's actually pacing them out. And I've had different situations to where people will say, you know, I should have seen it. It should have been right there. And then other situations where people will be like, well, the forest was so dense through there. I couldn't see through the tree leaf. But then you get rare accounts where people will catch glimpses of it. And I know this happened to you two years ago. In those two years, have you ever gone back?

• 45:02Speaker 00

Yeah, yep. As a matter of fact, I went back about two weeks later, a local Bigfoot group came up to research it because I posted it on the Wisconsin Bigfoot Sasquatch, whatever, and on Facebook. And they were immediately interested. Didn't find a thing. We were out there the entire day and we didn't find nothing. And then I went back again about a month later after that. And no, it wouldn't have been a month. It was probably three months because we went out in the springtime. And we get out there and there's this guy that I now do business

• 45:47Speaker 00

with. He came with me. He was really, he loves your show as well. We both listened to your show. And he's like, can I just come out there with a trail camera? And I'm like, well, it's a public forest. I said, you can pretty much do whatever you want. He's like, well, I don't want to step on your toes. He's like, I'm like, no, no, I said, it's fine. So I helped him. I walked him out to where it happened. We put up a trail camera. And then we started looking at possible signs. And, you know, I don't know about stick structures. I'm kind of like, hmm, maybe. But, you know, a lot of, a lot of weird shit happens in the woods and winds blow strangely and all that. But then we did see something that was odd where this

• 46:30Speaker 00

Um, it was a popular tree and it was broken at about ten feet up, broken off entirely. When all the other trees were healthy and completely fine. But it was placed on the trail as if to direct whatever is on the trail off the trail. And then there was also another tree, which was weird as well, was pushed over. Kind of making a corral on this trail, which that was the only weird thing that we noticed. You know, as for signs, but other than that, we never saw another than we never saw or heard another thing.

• 47:09Speaker 00

And um, I've talked to several people in the area and there is a um, what is that website? Well, anyway, they reported to the website. There was another sighting about a couple of years before mine. That was ten miles north of this forest. Um, that was right on the Okanto River where it had crossed the road in front of this lady. And she said it looked like a big man, you know, much bigger man than normal. Um, in a, in a fur jacket, walked across the road.

• 47:50Speaker 00

And I kind of did my own, you know, research on it and I found out that. If that Bigfoot wanted to, all it had to do to stay unseen. Was walk the river, the Okanto River, and it would have ended up in the same spot I'm at. I, I found, I had my experience. And um, nobody would ever know it was there. So there is some history of that around here, but not too much.

• 48:16Wes Germer?

Yeah, like I said, it's creepy being paced out like that. Uh, because you really feel like your life is in danger. It's right there. A lot of times they'll growl at people, kind of like what it was doing to you. Uh, sometimes they'll throw things at people on their way out. But the minute you kind of leave the, the forest or the, the canopy. Uh, generally they'll leave you alone at that point. Um, and you know, it's creepy just in the fact that most of the time people don't even see what it actually is. They can't zero in on what's actually pacing them out. What do you think that these creatures are?

• 48:55Speaker 00

I don't know. That's a, that's a trick question right there. I couldn't tell you. I believe that there is a lost lineage out there that maybe they found a way to live, you know, with, with harmony with nature. Um, but they're, they're just too smart for us. I say, I really think it's just a, a large man slash ape that's, you know, figured us all out and knows how to avoid us. I don't think there's too much, I, I know there's a mystery in it, but I don't, for me myself, I think that that's,

• 49:39Speaker 00

it's as simple as that. But, you know, who knows?

• 49:44Wes Germer?

Yeah, it could be. It could be. It's so hard to know what these things are. I kinda like Jack's answer better. I, uh, I really appreciate you coming on, man, and sharing, you know, these two different life experiences. The being paced out, that happens a lot. That happens to a lot of people. And most people aren't thinking Bigfoot at the time. They're just like, I, I don't know what it was. Uh, this, the encounter with the old woman in that house, that's a strange one, you know, and that, and I'm finding out that is going on way more than I thought it was. I've been getting hit with emails left and right with experiences like these. And, um, I'd like to say it surprises me, but it really

• 50:29Wes Germer?

doesn't in this world that we live in. But, uh, thank you again for taking the time to come on.

• 50:36Speaker 00

Yeah. I appreciate talking to you and, you know, good job. Keep doing it.

• 50:41Wes Germer?

Thanks again, Wes. And tomorrow night I'll be chatting with, uh, Wayne, who comes to us from Ontario. He's a, uh, truck driver out there and he saw two of these creatures and they appeared to be fighting on the side of the road. Uh, so he'll be coming on to share that account. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. The email address is [email protected]. And to begin a chance, check out sasquatchchronicles.com. You can become a member and get additional shows. Until next time, everyone.
