Today's episode is brought to you by Off the Record and big news. So many of you emailed me about this last week, so you'll know, but we have a new code for Off the Record, new for 2025. All these codes get passed around all over the internet and then before you know it, everybody's got them and people with that OG good stuff have to find a new code that not everybody has. So the new code for Off the Record is TST25. You can go to offtherecord.com/tst on the web browser, or if you're using the Off the Record app, it's code TST25, TST25. And of

• 0:42Matt Farah?

course, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, Off the Record is the very best. They are a service that connects you with a qualified attorney in the jurisdiction where you have just received a moving violation of some kind. They then fight that ticket on your behalf, get the points off your record, and you are good to go. So many of you use them. I use them. So many of you love them. I love them. And now we have a new code, so they know that you came from us, and so you get the right 10% discount with your services. So code TST25 on the app, or offtherecord.com/tst. All right, on today's episode, it is Mr. Jeff Glucker, and I think

• 1:27Matt Farah?

we determined on this one that he has a very long spread. He was on episode number eight, and also episode number 993. Jeff is, of course, of Huniverse and all its related elements, formerly of Jalopnik and other, uh, other writing outlets, and was at one time part of the excellent but short-lived head-to-head drag race with Johnny on Motor Trend. We love him. We're drinking good whiskey, because this one's on a Friday night, and we ain't got nothing else to do. But Jeff Glucker is here in studio telling us about his terrible cars. It's the Smoking Tire Podcast.

• 2:07Matt Farah?

Uh, you sent me, uh, at 3:10, you sent me a text that I should be there just before 4:30, which was when you're close. Which is by his own GPS estimate. Right, right. I figured you were like in the car. At 4:30, you say 10 minutes away, dude has in-

• 2:22Speaker 01

increased his driving range by forty miles over the course of this trip. This is a gas powered car. You haven't gone over sixty, even in areas where it's open and safe to do so. He, so. Was he testing a perpetual motion machine? I, I honestly think there might have been some drugs involved, but just because like hands at eight and four the whole time. A fair amount of brake when there was wide open road. I'm just like, oh hell, man. But there wasn't anything immediate, like there was no swerving. There was no. Kali, if you get state, sir, driver is a nineteen ninety one Bentley. And he was just a can't do that. He didn't adapt himself to the twenty twenty Jenna. It was.

• 3:03Speaker 01

It's, it's funny how like, I took that car here. I could have driven a seven hundred and ten horsepower SUV here. But I was like, you know what? It's Friday. I want to have a couple of drinks because I'm not going to be here to celebrate the thousand. Not that this is going to be like some big boozapalooza, but I, I, I want to be responsible. Yeah, I'm not going to drive. I've also heard there's a DUI checkpoint in Irvine tonight. So, you know, wink today.

• 3:25Speaker 01

He's just like, so I, I was sitting in the Escalade and I checked, uh. Whatever my app is, and then I was like. Durango Hellcat. Oh, it's a Durango Hellcat. I was supposed to have the Ram RHO, but somebody might have. So messy, Dan? Yeah, this is the, the last call. The. One of the, uh, this is the. Pro nickel last call. So, okay, so this is, this is the ones where they sued to. Right. Oh, I think it's one of those. Yeah, because they said it was going to be one year only and that. Stickers one fifteen on this one. For a Durango? Now granted, it is one of the craziest dump, and I say dumbest, but I mean dumbest in one of the best ways. One of the, um, the best dumbest vehicles because seven passengers, seven hundred and ten horsepower, just hilarious.

• 4:09Speaker 01

But like you're, yeah, no, it's awesome. Yeah. Like if I, we have this, whatever, seven years ago. Probably randomly multiple times over that period. Yeah, but I think, but, but I think it was eighty three grand or so, you know, it was, it was not. And that's not even it because that's the three ninety two. That's, that's the, that's the final Hellcat one. And I think they've already recanted that and they're probably like, no, new guys or old guys back. Drew, do you wait till they fucking un-cancel V eights? There to everyone who like loves small parts for three hundred and fifteen is the sticker. That's not a markup price. They have a sticker. That's the difference between. Mopar people and Tesla people. When you defraud Mopar people, they actually sue you.

• 4:53Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Though some of them are like, no, I'm gonna get that. That's the last one. So in 30 years of Barrett-Jackson, when this crosses the block, I'm a wealthy man.

• 5:02Speaker 01

Yeah. We have, there's been a lot of the, you know, there's a bunch of those. It's the last naturally aspirated, the last manual, the last, you know, this, that. Everybody thinks they're Mad Max.

• 5:12Matt Farah?

Yeah. Like, it's okay. Like, if you, like, if you think something's going away to get in on the game.

• 5:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 5:18Matt Farah?

But like, you know, you shouldn't bet the farm on that being a laugh.

• 5:22Speaker 01

  Right, though, especially.

• 5:23Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 5:24Speaker 01

Zach, did the TV turn off for a reason?

• 5:25Speaker 02

It was unplugged by half a mil, so it's now recharging itself.

• 5:30Speaker 01

  Funny.

• 5:31Matt Farah?

Um, it was distracting. Nice, uh, nice Seiko Arnie.

• 5:34Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 5:35Matt Farah?

  Full commando.

• 5:36Speaker 01

Yeah, so I did the dumb thing where, uh, we, if we probably, I don't know, you're not as much as a watch nerd. I've gotten worse of it.

• 5:43Matt Farah?

  He's getting there.

• 5:44Speaker 01

  I, yeah.

• 5:44Speaker 02

I like him. I appreciate him.

• 5:45Matt Farah?

  Forcing it on, right?

• 5:46Speaker 02

  Yeah, that's kind of true.

• 5:47Speaker 01

Shit, though, you got a Weiss, right?

• 5:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 5:49Speaker 01

Uh, which is awesome. You got this. I see. Awesome. I wear in my Weiss. I would like to get a Weiss one of these days. Um. I went Watches of Espionage on Instagram.

• 5:58Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 5:58Speaker 01

They released that, uh, with submersible seat. It was one of the other dive watch ones. They released their own, um.

• 6:04Matt Farah?

  Compass.

• 6:05Speaker 01

I was like, oh, no, the attachment. Yeah, I'm gonna get one of those. And I got it and I put it on. I was like, this is fucking stupid.

• 6:10Speaker 02

Wait, it's like a, a compass you attach to an existing watch?

• 6:14Speaker 01

It's a, it's a remake of this back in the day, this Vietnam-era Seiko. Uh, they, they actually used it, these real commandos. And they're, you can find those. Our friend Nick from DC50 Watches sells them. They're pretty rad-looking, the, the real old ones. But I put this on, I was like, oh, I'm a fucking nerd.

• 6:30Matt Farah?

This is one of a bunch of, a bunch of things that look awesome on Instagram. And then you put them on, you're like, this is ridiculous. I'm not doing it.

• 6:38Speaker 01

Yeah, and it's, it's a dime-sized compass that, that clips onto the part of your

• 6:45Matt Farah?

  Oh, right.

• 6:45Speaker 01

strap immediately at 6 o'clock. And so like, if someone photographs it quite right, you're like, oh, I, I see what's happening there. And when you've tried to put it on before, I'm like, no.

• 6:56Matt Farah?

Yep, that's exactly what I ordered it. It wasn't terribly expensive.

• 6:59Speaker 02

  Doing a lot of landbag.

• 7:01Speaker 01

I was like, this would be cool if I'm like out overlanding somewhere. And so I took it off, I kept it on the band it came with, and it literally is now wrapped around part of my, my Montero. Right.

• 7:11Speaker 02

  Good idea.

• 7:12Speaker 01

Glowed to the dashboard. So I was like, that was fucking stupid. I put it on as like hard no, but I also bought the, uh, the Bond NATO.

• 7:19Matt Farah?

That was, the strap looks good.

• 7:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:21Matt Farah?

You know, there's, the funny, the funniest thing about watches and Instagram is just to like, you know, it's not like, it's not like the pictures are fake or anything, but they're, they're taken to make the watch look its best. And a lot of times like, if you can't, if you can't try it on, and the first time you tried on, you bought it, you're like, why is it like 17 millimeters tall?

• 7:43Speaker 01

Like, what? No, and I, I, when I bought it, I was like, this is gonna show up. I wasn't immediately like, this is gonna be awesome. Like, I knew.

• 7:50Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 7:51Speaker 01

One of two ways. I'll use the compass for something. It got there, I tried it, I was like, that's stupid.

• 7:56Matt Farah?

It's a low, uh, a low risk accessory.

• 7:58Speaker 01

  Yes, exactly. Yeah, yeah.

• 7:59Matt Farah?

Yeah, and then I've been through many. I ordered, I just ordered a strap that was by strap standards, really expensive, and it arrived. And it's, it was, it was ma- it's made from a Panerai radio mirror.

• 8:11Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 8:12Matt Farah?

Which has a 27 millimeter lug.

• 8:15Speaker 01

  Oh shit.

• 8:16Matt Farah?

Watch, yeah, so, so it's the only watch.

• 8:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 8:19Matt Farah?

This is like, the, the strap fits.

• 8:21Speaker 01

And I got the strap. I fucking hate it, and there's no returns. I mean, I've never even heard of 27, but that's awesome.

• 8:27Matt Farah?

It looks, it, it looks right when you tapers.

• 8:31Speaker 01

  It can go wider.

• 8:31Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 8:32Speaker 01

  It's a 27.

• 8:33Matt Farah?

And it's Reynolds, I'll shoot the strap.

• 8:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 8:35Matt Farah?

Jeez. I need a taper in my strap.

• 8:37Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 8:37Matt Farah?

Gray Alseco, like, like a NATO strap is no taper, right? It's run.

• 8:41Speaker 01

  Right, right, right.

• 8:42Matt Farah?

Right, but in a, in a, in a leather strap or in a steel, there has to be taper. So if it's like 22 at the lug, and then you want a 4mm taper, so it'll be 18 or 60.

• 8:54Speaker 02

  Especially on the metal.

• 8:54Speaker 01

How's it nice? Hard people have already checked out of this episode.

• 8:58Speaker 02

We get a lot of watch questions. No, I know. A lot of watch followers.

• 9:02Matt Farah?

Yeah, and it's like, it's Friday afternoon, but you just can't, you just got here, like.

• 9:07Speaker 01

  I'm like buzzing with.

• 9:08Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 9:09Speaker 01

  Anti lift sentiment.

• 9:11Matt Farah?

You know what, I've had a couple really bad Ubers in the last couple of days. I had to run my NSX to service, which is thirty miles east of here at Evasive. Shout out to

• 9:21Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 9:22Matt Farah?

  The best, uh, for Hondas.

• 9:26Matt Farah?

But like, it was at the South Bay store, so that was so from my house, Uber to South Bay, drive there, Uber home. The inverse of that, so it was two long Ubers.

• 9:37Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 9:37Matt Farah?

And like, guy, one guy is blasting Christian music, one guy like wouldn't shut the fuck up. The most interesting one by far, I can't even call it bad, was a Nigerian immigrant that seems to have been to like probably a hundred countries.

• 9:50Speaker 01

  Oh, cool.

• 9:51Matt Farah?

Wow, really interesting dude. Judges every country, I shit you not, by how easy it is to make friends and connections explicitly for purposes of finding a mate for immigrating

• 10:08Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 10:09Matt Farah?

  on paper into that country.

• 10:11Speaker 01

  That's amazing.

• 10:11Matt Farah?

Yeah. He was like, and I was, he was like, and then I went to, you know, Amsterdam and I, and I was like, oh, I love that city of the canals. He's like, yes, but it's very

• 10:24Matt Farah?

wired to that even coming up.

• 10:27Speaker 01

  It's a Dutch language test.

• 10:28Matt Farah?

Oh, he's like, I love Finland. I was like, oh, really? What did you love about Finland? He was like, it's very easy. Got a citizen on my arm.

• 10:36Speaker 01

  Taking notes.

• 10:37Matt Farah?

  So you're

• 10:40Speaker 01

That's amazing. I had a dude, I was in New Hampshire, uh, I had to fly back to deal with some stuff with my mother. Um, and I landed late at night, didn't try to arrange press cars, was like, let me just get here, do this the normal human being way. Landed and a dude from, uh, Kansania picked me up. I was like, oh, I'm going there later this year. And he, he lit up. He was just so happy that he was really, I was watching a movie on like an iPad while we were driving. It had lights going to match. I was like, am I in Vegas? I'm like, this is Manchester, New Hampshire. Like, I expect like Adam Sandler's dad to pick me up or something weird like that. Um, but yeah, the, the lights going off, the nicest guy ever. I gave him a huge tip. He followed. I just was like, I, I was also jet lagged too. I'm like, whatever, dude, here's, thank you. You were wonderful to talk. He, he lit up when I said I'm going to Kansania.

• 11:24Speaker 01

He's like, my mother's there. She's coming out soon. And it was great. It was wonderful, delightful conversation. This today, though, was not.

• 11:30Matt Farah?

Me, I always say is the worst. You ever get picked up in an Uber that's like a, a pickup truck? No.

• 11:38Matt Farah?

I've been picked up in Tacomas, I've been picked up in F150s.

• 11:43Matt Farah?

Like Hawaii, like if I let it. That's kind of. And I'd be like, alright, yeah, let's do this.

• 11:47Speaker 02

I got picked up here in like a Pro X4. And the, and inside the, and in the trunk, or the, the bed was lined with carpet, cause I had to put a suitcase in, I was like, alright, that's kinda nice. But I remember years ago.

• 11:58Matt Farah?

  Okay, David Five Star.

• 11:59Speaker 02

I rode in like a Sierra 2500. And I was in the back, and the ride's uncomfortable, it's very stiff, and the guy was complaining to me that Uber wouldn't let him register the car as a luxury car for black service, because it's a pickup truck. And he's like, this thing's nice, right?

• 12:14Matt Farah?

Maybe it was a King Ranch, bro, I don't know, like, I know it's a different brand. He's in there arguing, your honor, it's a King Ranch.

• 12:21Speaker 01

I had the issue where we, uh, whenever I was in New York, if you don't take a taxi in New York, you're like rolling the dice. Because a lot of times, they're, they all have to be, uh, wheelchair accessible, which is great, but they, but if it's, if it's marked as fitting, um, more than four people, you know, expecting a minivan or something to show up, they always have it ready. Like the backseat folded, so they always has to get out and unfold it, where like, odds are, and, and this is a touchy subject, but like, odds are, that should be ready to be a seat, not.

• 12:53Matt Farah?

  Folded up for wheelchair access.

• 12:55Speaker 01

He should get out and real, very, really quickly set it up. And it's great that they have that accessible, but every time I was like, undoing this and unfolding that. So I, I was just in Boston, we needed to get to the airport, I was like, I'm gonna, I'm just gonna go pay SUV, even though there was three of us with luggage, I'm like rolling the dice, and what showed up? Suburb, and I was like, oh, hell yeah. That's, that's what I was looking for. What isn't even black, it was just SUV. I was like, this is what I'm talking about. And the dude was in a suit, so I'm like, oh, he's livery, this is on the side of muscle.

• 13:22Speaker 02

Yeah, he's slumming to pick you up.

• 13:24Speaker 01

And we were like, right in the city, so his, to drop us off at the airport in Boston, five minute ride for him, he was like, yeah, easy. And I think they charged more for the airport to go through the tunnel anyway, he was stoked.

• 13:34Matt Farah?

I live so close to the airport, that when I, and I like a yellow cab, at night, coming, coming in, cause they're just there. Everyone else is standing around looking at their phone waiting for an Uber, meanwhile, there's 35 yellow, right, I just fucking grab it, go. And now I have a, a rhythm, but I've been, I, I was like, like aggressively yelled at for living too close. To the airport because the guy had waited in the cab line for like two hours or whatever. And it's eleven o'clock like. Sorry, by the way, this is why I worry. Right as I fly so much like. No fucking shit. I live close to the airport like sorry. So now I have a whole fucking thing. Now I have cash. Now I land, I go, hey, man.

• 14:19Matt Farah?

Listen, sorry, it's not very far, but like I'm paying cash and I'll take good care of you and I have to leave a really good tip. Okay, whatever. And that usually disarms them.

• 14:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 14:29Matt Farah?

And then I give them the address. And it's and you know, maybe by then there I my primer has made them think it's a half a mile, but it's really three and a half.

• 14:38Speaker 01

  Right, right.

• 14:38Matt Farah?

  So you know, there's.

• 14:39Speaker 01

So there's a little bit on the, yeah, yeah. And when I was in this this lift today. Uh, I was sitting there thinking like I should have called a cab. Like, let's undo disruption and all the bullshit that's happened from the taxi.

• 14:51Matt Farah?

Dude, if they if they if the if like the the taxi commission or whatever could adopt. Uh, an Uber like software platform. I would much rather roll around in.

• 15:04Speaker 01

I come to New York, duh, like New York City proper has it. I like, I think I used it last time I was there. And I even last time I was there, I hit up Pichinello. I was like, hey, do you have to be a member to have dinner at the the classic car club? He's like, no, when you want reservations? Went down there, this was a year ago, went down there with my family. You know, had a great dinner, only my I had two drinks, my wife had one drink, no one else drank, and I got the bills and go, oh shit. Like, and it wasn't that bad during New York City. The amount of it really wasn't that bad for the amount of people, but I also was like. Oh, oh, no. It really wasn't bad. I just wasn't, I wasn't thinking.

• 15:39Matt Farah?

  You weren't ready.

• 15:40Speaker 01

No, and yeah, I wasn't ready.

• 15:42Matt Farah?

My uh, my last couple of weeks of of Ubers and lifts have, you know, because there's a lot of Waymos rolling around here now. I said, really?

• 15:49Speaker 01

Every seen one. Oh, we seen every.

• 15:51Matt Farah?

Yeah, stand in the fucking driveway for. I guarantee you, you could.

• 15:56Speaker 01

You want to take me all the way to Orange County tonight?

• 15:58Matt Farah?

  No, so I if you're.

• 16:00Speaker 01

  Fence.

• 16:00Matt Farah?

It's like, there's a geo fence and I have the app. So you know what's kind of fucking sucks? The geo fence is in between. The shop and my home.

• 16:10Speaker 01

  Oh shit, really?

• 16:11Matt Farah?

Which is sort of annoying. So but you would use them if it wasn't. If it went to my house, I would use them.

• 16:18Speaker 02

  Oh, why would you?

• 16:19Matt Farah?

  Use them more.

• 16:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:20Matt Farah?

  Because I don't need them from here. I, I, I, I, uh.

• 16:23Speaker 02

Cause you're in a different city. You live in a different city technically, right?

• 16:26Matt Farah?

Cause this, cause this, this city ends across the street.

• 16:30Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:30Matt Farah?

Yeah, I'm on the edge of the city here.

• 16:32Speaker 01

Is this technically Culver or Inglewood?

• 16:35Matt Farah?

This, this building is the end of Culver City.

• 16:39Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 16:39Matt Farah?

And on the other side is Plymouth.

• 16:41Speaker 01

Because the driver's like, we're going to Inglewood? I'm like, well, Culver City, but you know, it's like.

• 16:45Matt Farah?

No, it's also fine. There's, um, fine things in the equal. Let me, but they, I just got a notification that they've expanded the Waymo map. So let me see where we see. I have that.

• 16:57Speaker 02

  That'd be an adventure.

• 16:58Speaker 01

  It would.

• 16:59Matt Farah?

You could also on the big screen, maybe. Oh, here. It's like, it's a home screen here. So it's like, you can't see exactly where the border is. But it basically.

• 17:06Speaker 01

I forgot you had that on the last phone.

• 17:08Matt Farah?

Yeah, but I fit my thirteen mini. So it goes, it's a band that moves the east and west across the city.

• 17:14Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 17:15Matt Farah?

But the bottom of the band, the southern end of the band has a bit of like. Wrinkles in it, let's call it. But does it wrap in between my house and. It's okay. They'll, they'll expand it, but like. Do they?

• 17:28Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm not joking. I've never even seen a Waymo car.

• 17:31Matt Farah?

I, oh, I'm telling you, if we do, if we just stand outside the student stairwell for three minutes.

• 17:37Speaker 01

  Huh.

• 17:37Matt Farah?

  And we'll go by.

• 17:38Speaker 01

  It's always.

• 17:38Matt Farah?

When I was in San Francisco a week and a half ago, I shit you not, I saw more Waymos than I saw. Like.

• 17:45Speaker 01

  Ubers.

• 17:46Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 17:46Speaker 01

Yeah. How is it? How's the experience?

• 17:48Matt Farah?

I, I've only been in one once and it was.

• 17:51Speaker 01

Five, five, yeah. Five, you don't have to like tell someone to shut it off. Like not that you would.

• 17:57Matt Farah?

I joke, I, I mean, like, I, I understand. The, the appeal. I absolutely understand the appeal of it as a cab.

• 18:05Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 18:05Matt Farah?

Well, I, I mean, yeah. As like, I mean, and I, and look at me. I, I look like I was fucking there on January sixth. Imagine if you're a woman.

• 18:13Speaker 01

  Don't think that's true.

• 18:14Matt Farah?

  I mean, ima- imagine.

• 18:15Speaker 01

If you're a woman, yeah, no, that's my point.

• 18:17Matt Farah?

  If you're my wife.

• 18:17Speaker 01

Or, or, you know, or, or, you know, any like woman I can imagine that could be a That's a very good point. Yeah, I appreciate that. Or a kid, or just like someone who doesn't want to get, uh, hear the shit from someone else.

• 18:33Speaker 01

What any marginalized person. Yeah, would probably love the idea of a way more. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right? And like, even though I learned about, uh, what countries, uh, were the best to immigrate as a marriage. Like my fucking settings for Uber are like, cool and shut the fuck up. And the person has to acknowledge though, and then they. I got one home when I drop my Montero for service again. And that's an expensive Uber because I go, you know, you go to your guy to Vasa for your NSX. Yeah, just like, just like you. I go to a guy from my Montero, but he's in Bell Garden. Oh, yeah. Which from it's like. Paul Borist is about a hundred dollars each way. Uh, but the guy got in and it's, it gave me the warning.

• 19:14Speaker 01

It's like, hey, he's deaf and gave you, and actually gave you some, uh, hello, like he gave you some signs. To practice when he, I was like, that's amazing. And I was sitting in the corner going like, I forget him already because I'm an asshole. I'm like, hello, you know, like, uh, he got in the car. I'm like, I don't think this guy's deaf.

• 19:28Speaker 02

I've had a lot of that lately, a lot of it.

• 19:30Speaker 01

I think he just didn't want to fucking talk.

• 19:31Speaker 02

  I've had that.

• 19:32Matt Farah?

Isn't that, isn't that a fucking plot point of Seinfeld?

• 19:37Speaker 01

I think it is. Elaine pretends to be deaf so cab drivers don't talk to her. That makes, that's an episode of Seinfeld. And listen. Okay. Yeah. Spike's like, I wrote that fucker.

• 19:47Speaker 02

No, I've, I've had a lot of drivers lately that do not speak English. That's, that's what I've had.

• 19:51Speaker 01

Like, and then he like talked to me a little bit. I'm like, this guy's not fucking deaf. I'm like, but you know what? I appreciate the move for both of us. I was literally practicing on the side before he came and got me looking.

• 20:00Speaker 02

If you had gotten in and started signing and he looks and he's like, oh, fuck, I forgot what they are.

• 20:04Matt Farah?

Guys, support for the smoking tire comes from the podcast, Drive with Jim Farley. You know, Jim Farley, he's the CEO of Ford. They just started season three with some sick new guests, including Vicky Butler Henderson, the British racing driver and fifth gear personality, Randy Nonnenberg from Bring a Trailer, and T-Pain, the musician turned drifter. Guy's got skills, actually. I listened, I listened to it the other day.

• 20:49Matt Farah?

It is great. Jim is a great interviewer. He's insightful and it's interesting hearing these folks open up to him. I really am about it. I support Jim's venture here. To listen to Drive with Jim Farley, just search Drive with Jim Farley in any podcast app. That's Drive with Jim Farley. And thank you for supporting this episode.

• 21:11Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. So anyway, there's the, the map of Waymos are, are expanding. It's up, it's all, it's like a bodge.

• 21:17Speaker 01

You can get through like a good part of the downtown Hollywood.

• 21:22Matt Farah?

  You could take.

• 21:23Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, you can go from the coast to deep into.

• 21:25Matt Farah?

Yeah, you can go from Venice to fucking Hollywood in a Waymo.

• 21:28Speaker 01

And if you, if any of you are looking at this and you know LA, that's a lot of important areas to get.

• 21:34Matt Farah?

The blue from, from the, the westernmost, uh, blue, where it says Santa Monica on the map, that's, that's Pacific Fallacies. And you wouldn't need to go more west than that because there isn't any.

• 21:48Speaker 01

So I mean, judging by this map, you can get to your boat dock in Marina Del Rey.

• 21:52Matt Farah?

Yeah, you can go from Hollywood to your yacht in Marina Del Rey without a unit. Yeah, it's about a 10 mile, 10, 12 miles across.

• 22:00Speaker 02

Oh, of course they have SoFi. That's smart. So that's also Kia Forum. That's also into it.

• 22:06Matt Farah?

So anyway, good times and he'll keep expanding.

• 22:09Speaker 01

So I'm gonna have to drive to your house and then I can't, I'm gonna drive here to get a Waymo.

• 22:14Matt Farah?

Well, we're definitely want to go see, we're going to run the jewels.

• 22:17Speaker 01

  You gonna go to that?

• 22:18Matt Farah?

I get back from, we're doing a huge personal family trip this year, like a dream trip. We're going to Africa. I get back the day before that concert. I'm like, I couldn't make this work.

• 22:32Speaker 02

I saw Run the Jewels last year and it was like one of the best shows I've ever been to. It was sick.

• 22:35Matt Farah?

  He responded to me.

• 22:35Speaker 01

We're four on Instagram. I'm like, I'm friends with Mike.

• 22:37Speaker 02

  Right.

• 22:38Matt Farah?

  Where's the show?

• 22:40Speaker 01

  Uh, it's, it's the Crypto.

• 22:42Matt Farah?

  Oh, here.

• 22:42Speaker 02

  Yeah, Crypto.com.

• 22:43Speaker 01

Well, it's a tour. It's Wu-Tang's final tour. I've seen Wu-Tang when they opened for Rage Against the Machine.

• 22:48Matt Farah?

I saw that show two dates.

• 22:50Speaker 01

  Ninety-seven.

• 22:51Matt Farah?

Uh, yeah, I, so did you see them down in New York area? I saw them at the Brendan Byrne Arena, which became Continental Airlines Arena where the Nets played. And then I saw them at the Hartford Meadows where there were riots and they burned the fucking place.

• 23:04Speaker 01

So I saw them at Great Woods, which is no longer Great Woods in Madison.

• 23:08Matt Farah?

It was, we saw a great Pearl Jam show.

• 23:10Speaker 01

  It was.

• 23:11Matt Farah?

Like the whole, you know, um, but apparently they played Versus.

• 23:14Speaker 01

It's where they played every song over the course of three days. I didn't go to that, but my friends went to all, um, but the, the night before Rage was supposed to come to Great Woods, Zack De La Rocha, uh, broke his leg.

• 23:26Matt Farah?

That's the show I was at.

• 23:27Speaker 01

So that's why I was at the broken.

• 23:28Matt Farah?

I was at the fucking next show. Uh, Rage was late. Wu-Tang played for two hours. ODB was alive. Rage shows up, they, oh, and it's an outdoor, so they have a curfew. Rage plays 10 songs. He doesn't move. Album perfect. Album perfect.

• 23:44Speaker 01

It was unbelievable and to get two hours of Wu-Tang was fucking incredible.

• 23:47Matt Farah?

So where, at both shows I was at, Wu-Tang kinda sucked.

• 23:52Speaker 01

  Oh, not a much.

• 23:52Matt Farah?

Like I, I, I can't wait for that going, oh, okay, Wu-Tang is a great.

• 23:56Speaker 01

Did you like Wu-Tang? Like the albums?

• 23:59Matt Farah?

I think, I think A, I liked and still loved the idea of Wu-Tang.

• 24:05Speaker 01

  I can understand that.

• 24:06Matt Farah?

I like, I like their music. I respect all of them. But like, I didn't think they put on all of them though.

• 24:13Speaker 01

  Even the tertiary.

• 24:16Matt Farah?

  Particularly.

• 24:16Speaker 01

What do you expect to deck?

• 24:18Matt Farah?

Who I've totally heard from recently.

• 24:20Speaker 01

Ghostface is one of the best of all time.

• 24:21Matt Farah?

Ghostface is one of the best of all time. And, um, and Christian Hand has crazy stories about RZA, cause he was in Gravediggers with RZA.

• 24:31Speaker 01

Are you shitting? I don't think I knew that about Christian.

• 24:33Matt Farah?

Christian Hand was a foreign member of Gravediggers and has.

• 24:37Speaker 02

He had to sub in for some of the Gravediggers stories.

• 24:40Matt Farah?

  Come on.

• 24:40Speaker 02

  No, for real.

• 24:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 24:41Speaker 02

  His picture.

• 24:42Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 24:43Speaker 01

Oh, I did not notice that.

• 24:44Matt Farah?

Christian Hand was dosed by RZA.

• 24:46Speaker 02

What do they call him? Skullcap. He's like, he's like DJ Skullcap or something. Yeah. He had to sub in cause someone.

• 24:52Speaker 01

  British or American?

• 24:53Matt Farah?

No, literally the white guy in Gravediggers.

• 24:56Speaker 03

model of a year. Yeah, he was also in PM Dawn. Fish and him was in PM Dawn also. I did not know. Yeah, yeah.

• 25:03Speaker 01

Oh my god. He was crazy. ECGH lore. Gross. He's one of the most interesting person, people I've ever.

• 25:10Speaker 03

You know, you know what he's just added to his resume? You know what he's doing right now?

• 25:14Speaker 01

Uh, I know he was just. If you're telling me about the Eagles of the sphere, I had a funny story about that.

• 25:19Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 25:19Speaker 01

  So they announced that.

• 25:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 25:20Speaker 01

And I sent, I sent him uh, on Instagram. Uh, I was like, dude, I know you don't care about the Eagles. But I like the Eagles and to see Hotel California live in the sphere would be incredible. He wrote back, he's like, fuck the Eagles. This would be terrible. I shouldn't even saying this. He's like, he's like, never blah blah blah. And I saw him post that he's doing at the sphere. He's like, great chance to expand. Like, he read a whole thing. I was like, you motherfucker.

• 25:43Speaker 03

  Well, so, you know, here's.

• 25:45Matt Farah?

Company that made the U2 show.

• 25:47Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 25:48Matt Farah?

  Or the.

• 25:49Speaker 01

Dude was like hand holding iPhone shit.

• 25:51Matt Farah?

Well, the, so the guy, so the, the company that made the U2 show, the company that made the Grateful Dead show is called Treatment. Christian got a gig working for Treatment.

• 26:02Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 26:02Matt Farah?

Treatment was brought in to fix the Eagles show.

• 26:05Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 26:06Matt Farah?

So what Chris, one, the thing he got to do was, uh, I don't know if the word is produce, but be heavily involved in a complete sphere piece.

• 26:16Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 26:17Matt Farah?

There's probably an exact title and I doubt producer is it, but he.

• 26:20Speaker 01

I can just picture his accent. He's, I was the director of Unfucking Up.

• 26:24Matt Farah?

Yeah, of like unfucking a thing. And so it was pretty cool.

• 26:28Speaker 01

  That is, that's very cool.

• 26:29Matt Farah?

To make a thing for the sphere is pretty cool.

• 26:31Speaker 01

That is very cool. I, I love Christian's support, everything he does. So that's incredible.

• 26:35Matt Farah?

Uh, I'm, we're gonna go out to that show. We're gonna, we're gonna go see it at some point.

• 26:39Speaker 01

  Let me know.

• 26:40Matt Farah?

I'm sure we can arrange that.

• 26:41Speaker 01

Yeah, let me know. I would like to see that.

• 26:43Matt Farah?

  We should do it.

• 26:43Speaker 01

I, I would love to do it.

• 26:44Matt Farah?

All right. Let's fucking, let's phone that in.

• 26:46Speaker 01

I haven't been to the sphere yet, so.

• 26:48Matt Farah?

  It's unbelievable.

• 26:49Speaker 02

I want to see the show there. I saw the movie, which is obviously not.

• 26:52Speaker 01

I've been staying at a hotel that was like near the sphere for the fucking McLaren.

• 26:55Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 26:56Speaker 01

Can I say what you text me on that? How fast you went?

• 26:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 27:00Speaker 01

Okay. Cause like he, we were waves apart.

• 27:02Speaker 03

  Was this, uh?

• 27:03Matt Farah?

Seven fifty or was it it was seven fifty right yeah.

• 27:06Speaker 01

Can I can I say it? Uh I was like I was like dude this car is this car is sick cuz they they like got us permission to drive through it what's not a state park or is it a state?

• 27:15Matt Farah?

  Valley of fire.

• 27:16Speaker 01

And there was no cars and I I always try to leave first just to get it you know.

• 27:20Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 27:21Speaker 01

I tried to leave first and I left first on this one and I'm I'm the road there's a section where the road is just straight forever and you're just like.

• 27:28Matt Farah?

  Well.

• 27:29Speaker 01

Well, exactly whoop and you're like and I get up to I probably got up to like one twenty and I'm like.

• 27:34Speaker 02

  Kilometers per hour, of course.

• 27:35Speaker 01

Yeah, fuck it, I don't care. I was at a hundred twenty miles an hour in America. Eagles.

• 27:42Matt Farah?

In a British in a British car yeah comes in handy, okay, nobody.

• 27:45Speaker 01

Yeah, the guy be like, oh shit, that was seven fifty this new.

• 27:49Matt Farah?

Even the most egalitarian civilized society needs a road in the middle of the goddamn desert, okay? It doesn't have anything to do with taxes or healthcare.

• 27:57Speaker 01

  Montana backed off their reasonable.

• 27:59Matt Farah?

We still need that one thing, okay?

• 28:01Speaker 01

So doing about a hundred twenty, slow down cuz I'm like, you know, be smart and then I'm like, I'm still on the road. I'm like, man, let's try it again. I go up, I text, I text Matt, I'm like.

• 28:11Matt Farah?

  And it's like seven miles.

• 28:13Speaker 01

Like so long, no cars, I'm I I can see so it's. People will be like, you shouldn't go that fast. If you're in the moment and you can see miles ahead and there's visibility and the car is perfectly safe. And the only one I'm gonna hurt. If a tie, I know I am. This is more for people listening. I know I'm preaching to the choir cuz I haven't said yours.

• 28:31Matt Farah?

No, even our people, even our people, we know what the middle of the desert is for. It's okay. We're not in a school zone. We're in the middle of the.

• 28:39Speaker 01

If a tire blows, I've done it to myself.

• 28:41Matt Farah?

Called Valley of Fire. There's nobody there.

• 28:44Speaker 01

That bitch on fire, no, I didn't because I text fair. I'm like, yeah, I was in the rain and I had the top down and I did one forty. I'm like, okay.

• 28:52Matt Farah?

Oh, the rain. That was seven twenty spider. That was me and Kristen Lee.

• 28:56Speaker 01

  Fifty?

• 28:57Matt Farah?

No, that was seven twenty spider cuz it rained.

• 28:59Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 28:59Matt Farah?

  It rained. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 29:01Speaker 01

  All right.

• 29:01Matt Farah?

But you're going fast enough to move the rain. Yeah, seventy four. If you stay over seventy four, you stay dry.

• 29:07Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 29:07Matt Farah?

Me and that was me and Kristen Lee uh had had a lot of fun on that launch, shared shared a car.

• 29:12Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 29:13Matt Farah?

Um I just got a seven fifty for the road and track Austin event.

• 29:17Speaker 01

  Excellent.

• 29:18Matt Farah?

Which includes a Cota track day.

• 29:20Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 29:20Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 29:21Speaker 01

  Have you driven Cota?

• 29:23Matt Farah?

  Never.

• 29:23Speaker 01

  Me either.

• 29:24Matt Farah?

  No.

• 29:24Speaker 01

I've driven the go kart track outside.

• 29:26Matt Farah?

  With Will uh Barber?

• 29:29Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, Will uh very nice guy. Yeah, Will Barber's.

• 29:33Speaker 02

  Soft spoken Canadian.

• 29:34Speaker 01

  Waxed me.

• 29:35Speaker 02

  And very fast.

• 29:35Speaker 01

  Yeah, he can wheel.

• 29:36Speaker 02

Doesn't, I don't think he owns a car. He lives in New York.

• 29:38Speaker 01

No, he isn't. No, no, no, no.

• 29:39Speaker 02

  Flies.

• 29:40Speaker 01

No, no, he lives in Texas.

• 29:42Speaker 02

  You're talking about Schultz.

• 29:43Speaker 01

  No, no, no, no.

• 29:45Matt Farah?

  Will Schultz lives in Austin.

• 29:46Speaker 01

And he's an editor for Tangent?

• 29:47Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 29:47Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 29:48Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 29:48Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 29:48Speaker 01

  He has a ZO6.

• 29:49Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 29:49Matt Farah?

  Yes, that's Will Schultz.

• 29:50Speaker 02

  And a broken E4.

• 29:51Speaker 01

  Fast.

• 29:51Matt Farah?

He edited All Cars Go to Heaven, uh...

• 29:54Speaker 01

He just, he was also, uh, on Edith.

• 29:57Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 29:57Speaker 01

  His name's in Edith.

• 29:58Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 29:58Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 29:59Matt Farah?

  Will Barber's also fast.

• 30:00Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 30:01Speaker 02

Barber also filmed the first run of Edith.

• 30:03Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 30:04Speaker 02

But he had to come back down because of altitude issues, or couldn't go back for the second run.

• 30:08Speaker 01

Yeah. He was at a, our mutual friend's, uh, bachelor party, uh, and I, I show up as the car driver and it's like, "No, let's go on the karting track." I was like, "Oh shit, that guy's fucking fast."

• 30:17Matt Farah?

Morning, you know, Morningstar 2. He never owned a car.

• 30:20Speaker 01

It's because he weighs nine pounds.

• 30:21Matt Farah?

  He would wax people, dude.

• 30:22Speaker 02

No, he was pretty, he was good, though.

• 30:24Speaker 01

Yeah, but he also, he also, he weighs nothing and he has, I think, probably no fear?

• 30:29Speaker 02

  Correct.

• 30:29Speaker 01

Like, negative? Do you have negative fear?

• 30:31Speaker 02

  Definitely.

• 30:31Speaker 01

He said, "I'm gonna go live alone in the woods."

• 30:33Matt Farah?

  No fear. Full fucking send.

• 30:35Speaker 01

Has he ever finished his cabin?

• 30:37Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 30:37Speaker 02

  He's building a sauna now.

• 30:38Matt Farah?

He has like four or five different structures up there that he built himself. Yeah, it's crazy.

• 30:43Speaker 01

That's how far behind I am with the Morningstar, the Morningstar times.

• 30:46Matt Farah?

Yeah, no, he's, he's built things.

• 30:47Speaker 01

  Good for him.

• 30:48Matt Farah?

  He's very much committed.

• 30:49Speaker 01

  Good for him.

• 30:49Matt Farah?

I forgot how we've ended up there.

• 30:51Speaker 01

No, I know, like, uh, so, what do you guys think of cars?

• 30:53Matt Farah?

  Back it up to cars.

• 30:54Speaker 01

What do you guys think about cars, huh?

• 30:55Matt Farah?

Where do we exit cars? Forgot where that happened.

• 30:58Speaker 01

Uh, you driven anything good lately?

• 30:59Matt Farah?

  Uh, Tanzania?

• 31:00Speaker 02

  Uber to rap.

• 31:01Matt Farah?

  Tanzania?

• 31:01Speaker 01

  That's a personal trip.

• 31:02Matt Farah?

  Personal trip.

• 31:03Speaker 01

Hmm. In June, that'll be a good one. There's a car there where we have a Land Cruiser taking us around where they're like, "What do you, what kind of drinks do you want on board?" I'm like, "Hell, yeah."

• 31:11Matt Farah?

  It's, it's Safari.

• 31:13Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 31:13Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 31:14Speaker 01

Twelve days. Finished with three days on Zanzibar.

• 31:16Matt Farah?

  Sick.

• 31:17Speaker 01

I basically took the money I made on that Motor Trend show I did with Johnny, which got cut, canceled with two episodes to film, which is a shame. Uh, thanks, David Zaslove.

• 31:26Matt Farah?

  Fun wall lesson.

• 31:27Speaker 01

It was really fun. We even filmed one more that they didn't edit, which is a real kick in the dicks. Like, we shot it all and it was awesome. Uh, we, it was, uh...

• 31:36Matt Farah?

Can you be like, yo? I'll give you 50 for the wrong.

• 31:39Speaker 01

Give me the footage. Yeah, exactly. Uh, because it was, uh, Bentley. Johnny had a Bentley. I had the Electric Seven series. What is it? The I7M70? What's the big Electric One?

• 31:48Matt Farah?

  Very inspiringly named I7M60LI squared.

• 31:53Speaker 01

Listen, I am no BMW fan. I, I take any chance I can get to shit on BMW, even though E46 is one of the greatest cars I've ever driven. Uh, the I7M70, whatever the fuck its name is, is one of the nicest vehicles I've ever driven.

• 32:07Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 32:07Speaker 01

And, uh, it ended, we rented out the track, Streets of Willow. The whole idea was like, we'd sit, we're very, you know, pseudo Top Gear-y, where we sit in the back.

• 32:15Matt Farah?

And did Bentley, uh, did Johnny have the Flying Spur Speed Hybrid?

• 32:19Speaker 01

Uh, I think it was pre-hybrid. I think it was...

  Just Flying Spur Speed?

• 32:24Speaker 01

Just Flying Spur Speed, if I had to remember correctly. Um, uh, the other driver, the other person had to sit in the back while the person drove their car with a plate of charcuterie. And as much as you could keep on the plate, like, didn't affect your lap time. And I drove first and Johnny was in the back. He's like, can I hold it? I'm like, yeah, hold it. Like, not even thinking. And he, like, covered it. So, like, nothing fell off his plate. And I even forgot to turn off traction control in the BMW. I go, and I, I'm like, wasn't even thinking. He hits the gas right off the line. All of it falls off the plate. And I still beat him in the BMW, because the BMW was that fucking good on the track.

• 35:05Speaker 01

like we gave the wind to the BMW and that episode was never cut

• 35:08Matt Farah?

did the driver actually did end up driving pretty much as quick as possible we drove as hard as we could yeah yeah oh yeah cuz like we we we there was we went into these with no there was no planned outcomes it was uh whatever happens happens who gives a shit I like there were times where I'm like I had to fight for a win for a vehicle Johnny was like no no no this line like we would we would legit argue before we're like we settled we turned to production like alright we got a winner like did we when we did the car show for speed back in the day someone was just did we do that With tattooing?

• 35:42Speaker 02

Yes, we did. Wow, I forgot about that. We did do that.

• 35:45Matt Farah?

I mean, we, well, we copied it from Jackass, right?

• 35:48Speaker 01

Well, yeah, Steve-O got a tattoo.

• 35:50Matt Farah?

First, but no, we had a Rolls Royce Phantom versus My Box sixty-two lapping Willow Springs. I drove the Rolls.

• 36:00Speaker 01

  Big?

• 36:01Matt Farah?

  Big Willow.

• 36:03Speaker 01

  Streets would be rough.

• 36:04Matt Farah?

Yeah, lapping, lapping the track with someone in the backseat getting a tattoo.

• 36:09Speaker 02

  Getting a car show logo.

• 36:10Speaker 01

Yeah, it's like a random fan.

• 36:12Speaker 02

It was a boyfriend-girlfriend couple who were just like, sure, we'll do that for whatever money we paid.

• 36:18Matt Farah?

  Who, wait, who got tattoos?

• 36:19Speaker 02

  There's a guy-girl couple.

• 36:20Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 36:20Speaker 02

  Yeah, they had tattoos.

• 36:21Matt Farah?

Okay, so they were like, whatever.

• 36:22Speaker 02

And they got paid like a day rate thing, but, you know.

• 36:24Speaker 01

  Seven hundred bucks?

• 36:25Matt Farah?

There's a bell curve of tattooing.

• 36:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 36:28Matt Farah?

And when you cross it, you'll just get everything.

• 36:30Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, for sure.

• 36:32Matt Farah?

Someone's like, free tattoo? It's like, well, it's a dick that says Heil Hitler. You're like, well, but I got it in space.

• 36:38Speaker 01

But I can add it to, you know, I need to, I need to fill it right here.

• 36:42Speaker 02

And you'll be on TV, so of course, people show up for that.

• 36:44Matt Farah?

Yeah, they did. We did tattooing in the back of the.

• 36:46Speaker 01

  That's amazing.

• 36:47Matt Farah?

Yeah, Dan Neal drove the My Box and I drove the Rolls Royce.

• 36:52Speaker 02

And I remember him getting out going, I can't believe we're doing this.

• 36:53Matt Farah?

No, it wasn't the Rolls Royce. It was the Bentley Mulsanne. It was the twenty-ten, the white one, the Bentley Mulsanne.

• 36:59Speaker 02

That's why we had that press car, okay.

• 37:00Matt Farah?

That's my dream Bentley, by the way.

• 37:01Speaker 01

That's a great segue, that show, to one of my favorite moments in the history of the, uh, um, this podcast, which is kind of why I was like, hey, Matt, I can't make a thousand. Can you squeeze me in?

• 37:12Matt Farah?

And he's like, yeah. Nine ninety-three.

• 37:14Speaker 01

Um, I think I was originally five.

• 37:17Matt Farah?

  Air-cooled.

• 37:18Speaker 02

You were on, you were on episode three or five.

• 37:20Speaker 01

  Um, which is insane.

• 37:21Matt Farah?

  Uh, you might have.

• 37:22Speaker 01

And you guys would text me like, dude, can you come up? Like, hell, yeah. Like, pre-child for me.

• 37:27Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 37:27Speaker 01

You guys were in the hills.

• 37:28Matt Farah?

So if you're on episode five and nine ninety-five.

• 37:31Speaker 01

I'm guessing five. He said three.

• 37:32Matt Farah?

You probably have the best spread.

• 37:34Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, good point.

• 37:35Matt Farah?

  Congrats.

• 37:36Speaker 02

  Biggest spread.

• 37:38Speaker 01

No, but what I was gonna say is one of my favorite moments is when you eventually had John Sally on. For some reason, you brought up my ma- my name for some, I don't even remember why, but John, it was like saying something that went against somebody else's argument and John Sally goes, "Fuck that guy." Like, as a joke, and I heard it when I used to still listen to podcasts, uh, outside of the Dollop. Uh, by the way, I'm still jealous of that one. Uh, Dave Anthony, uh, and the James May one, but we can dive into those two. Um, when John Sally said that, I was cackling with laughter. I'm like, "John Sally just told me to go fuck myself." That's so awesome.

• 38:13Matt Farah?

Oh, for one, alright, I'm gonna try to text John Sally.

• 38:17Speaker 01

  Oh, Jesus Christ.

• 38:17Matt Farah?

I mean, I have his number from 10 years ago. He had three phones.

• 38:22Speaker 01

  He's an NBA player.

• 38:23Matt Farah?

What are the odds one of those numbers still works?

• 38:25Speaker 01

  Oh, shit, Matt Farah.

• 38:27Matt Farah?

I will try to get him back for the 1,000.

• 38:30Speaker 01

When you sent the text, hey, hey, we're doing 1,000, I looked at the date, I'm, I'm gonna be in Puerto Rico. Which is a good excuse.

• 38:36Matt Farah?

That's okay, you're here now. I think he was just weaseling for a solo show.

• 38:41Speaker 01

Yeah, you know, I love a solo show. Like, I saw a few, like, uh, crew shows in Rome, like, I can squeeze in one.

• 38:47Speaker 02

That's true, you're in Crew Plus.

• 38:49Speaker 01

Fucking salmon upstream into this thing.

• 38:50Matt Farah?

My man knows content. He knows how we schedule it, dude. We're getting lazy, playing periods sometimes, it's alright.

• 38:56Speaker 01

I have a question for you. Um, have, back when I, I'm almost going back to like when I gave a shit about me doing podcasts too. I miss doing mine. Um, uh, how, how consistent have you been with one a week? Like, I know there's been breaks.

• 39:11Speaker 02

We've been two weeks for years.

• 39:12Speaker 01

  Two weeks, oh, my gosh.

• 39:12Matt Farah?

Two weeks for, for five, at least five years. At least five years, maybe.

• 39:16Speaker 01

When was episode one? What year? Not day to month.

• 39:18Matt Farah?

  2010, 2010 or 11.

• 39:20Speaker 01

  Jesus Christ.

• 39:22Matt Farah?

We did one a week, fucking.

• 39:24Speaker 01

Yeah, okay, and then you switched to two.

• 39:26Matt Farah?

And then we went to two.

• 39:27Speaker 01

Fuck, so, so many. Almost 1,000. You might say almost 1,000.

• 39:32Speaker 02

You might say it's almost 1,000.

• 39:33Matt Farah?

  It's all you might say, it's 993.

• 39:35Speaker 01

When I rebooted my podcast, like, two years ago, um, it came up, Spike was like, "Oh, wow, Gluck is getting a podcast." I'm like, "Dude, I, I was doing these before," I was like, Barry did his, there was a couple other ones, and like, I used to rank. On iTunes, with my podcast.

• 39:50Matt Farah?

Somebody asked Pearl Jam on some interview recently, like, "What's the secret to your band's longevity?"

• 39:57Speaker 01

I thought you were gonna say like. Like Ferris.

• 39:58Matt Farah?

No, Jeff, Jeff Ament was like, I have to say, not breaking up.

• 40:02Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 40:04Matt Farah?

You're like, well, yeah, and like, that's, that's.

• 40:07Speaker 01

That makes sense because I, I, I was so, uh, not to bring it back to me, but, um, when I.

• 40:12Matt Farah?

You're the guest. Your name is in the title to the show.

• 40:15Speaker 01

That's, you guys fucked up on that one.

• 40:17Matt Farah?

  Fucking crazy.

• 40:17Speaker 01

  Algorithm just went.

• 40:18Matt Farah?

A center card and everything. Yeah, algorithm killing center card.

• 40:22Speaker 01

  Uh, when I.

• 40:22Matt Farah?

I'm just gonna put dollar signs around your face. Jeff lost how much money?

• 40:26Speaker 01

You cross them out. Um, when, when I used to do this with Hayes, who was an amazing support piece for me being able to do it at all, um, I just hated driving to his fucking house to do it. Cause it was.

• 40:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 40:40Speaker 01

And he knew it. It was such a long drive, but he put so much effort into it and work. And you had comments that were like, I love Chris, I hate Chris. It was divided. I didn't care about that. He put so much effort into it. I just hated the drive and it burnt me out and we had no ads. And I said, fuck this, even though we were ranking in iTunes. Like we would put an episode out, it would come up. And I took a break and then Ron Ba and I came out and did it for a while. And now I'm letting other people, I'm like, you want to do it under our name? Please go ahead. So. To, for you guys to make do a thousand is, is awesome.

• 41:04Speaker 02

You were on episode eight and that was in, uh, February of 2012.

• 41:09Matt Farah?

  Wow.

• 41:11Speaker 01

  God damn.

• 41:12Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 41:12Speaker 01

  Twenty twelve.

• 41:13Matt Farah?

So I guess we probably, it was probably like December twenty eleven.

• 41:16Speaker 01

  He was a fetus.

• 41:17Speaker 02

I think that we, yeah, our first published episode, according to.

• 41:19Speaker 01

  Zach bought his first cube.

• 41:21Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 41:21Speaker 02

One, January nineteenth of twenty twelve.

• 41:24Matt Farah?

  Oh, okay.

• 41:24Speaker 01

  I think back to.

• 41:25Matt Farah?

I've been quoting the wrong year this entire time. I thought it was twenty eleven.

• 41:29Speaker 01

  I think back to like.

• 41:29Speaker 02

  I thought it was twenty.

• 41:30Speaker 01

  That, the house.

• 41:31Matt Farah?

  Oh, it was great.

• 41:32Speaker 01

  On the hill was sick.

• 41:32Matt Farah?

Someone sent me a photo of it the other day. It was, God, it was great.

• 41:35Speaker 01

I miss Nino. I, I, his pug is no longer with us.

• 41:38Matt Farah?

  Oh, R I P Darla, R I P Conrad.

• 41:41Speaker 01

We make, I, I would occasionally even text Nino randomly, like Pizza Dave, which was a quote we used to say. Now I have a pizza oven, which is the greatest joy in my life.

• 41:48Matt Farah?

  Which one do you rock?

• 41:49Speaker 01

  Gosny.

• 41:49Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 41:50Speaker 01

I got the Arc XL and I'm, I, I'm, I literally have been posting almost nothing but pizza content.

• 41:55Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 41:56Speaker 01

Well, I've relaxed a little bit, but I went, it was going hard for a bit and.

• 41:59Matt Farah?

Oh, there you go. When you go, when you go real hard at a thing, it's, dude, we, there's pizzas.

• 42:03Speaker 01

That's why there's only fifty likes.

• 42:05Matt Farah?

I had a real dumpling period.

• 42:07Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 42:08Matt Farah?

I made wonton soup the other night.

• 42:09Speaker 01

When you and Hannah came back from.

• 42:10Matt Farah?

  Fucked up a wonton soup.

• 42:11Speaker 01

When you and Hannah came back from Italy, you were hard on that for a while.

• 42:14Matt Farah?

  Wow.

• 42:14Speaker 01

  Cause the grandmas taught you.

• 42:16Matt Farah?

The, the, my ragu though. My ragu is next li- and then during covid, I sent that ragu to the moon.

• 42:23Speaker 01

Thad was hitting me up after I got my, my, uh, oven. He's like, dude, I'm here for the pizza content.

• 42:30Speaker 01

I got the Gauzy Arc XL.

• 42:31Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 42:32Speaker 01

And, uh, I love that this is not a car podcast this episode. I'm happy. Well, I'm about to talk about Pearl Jam next after this.

• 42:38Matt Farah?

I, I mean, we talk about cars all the time, all day, every day. I think sometimes it's nice to talk about other things with friends.

• 42:44Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 42:44Matt Farah?

And maybe that's not good for the algorithm or whatever.

• 42:47Speaker 01

My name in the title screwed that up anyway. I was just at the Audrain. We can talk about that.

• 42:52Speaker 02

Pizza Dave drops by the show.

• 42:53Matt Farah?

  Aren't they great?

• 42:54Speaker 01

I was talking to Zach about this cause my brother-in-law, really, hi Ben, my brother-in-law really, who met you guys actually.

• 43:01Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 43:01Speaker 01

He was your last, he really wants me to, he's like, dude, how do you get invited to that old car ass driving thing? He's like, well, you know.

• 43:07Matt Farah?

You could, you could get in.

• 43:08Speaker 01

  Get me in on it.

• 43:10Matt Farah?

  Don't you know Donald?

• 43:11Speaker 01

I don't. I know, I know. They sell his bow ties right in the Audrain for like a shitload of money.

• 43:15Matt Farah?

Really? I didn't know he had that.

• 43:17Speaker 01

Like sterling silver fucking, there's a whole case.

• 43:20Matt Farah?

Just, Donald, I love you. Please never change.

• 43:23Speaker 02

You could probably DM their Instagram, cause they're.

• 43:25Matt Farah?

No, no, we can, I can intro.

• 43:26Speaker 01

  Follow me.

• 43:27Matt Farah?

  I can intro that.

• 43:28Speaker 01

Yeah, I want, I want to attend that.

• 43:29Matt Farah?

  So I'm gonna blow my.

• 43:31Speaker 01

My brother-in-law really wants me in the car.

• 43:33Matt Farah?

So they, we can go there and we can do their, their veteran run.

• 43:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 43:38Matt Farah?

Like we've, like Zach and I have done. It's so fun.

• 43:43Matt Farah?

If we put together a group of like.

• 43:47Speaker 01

  Perspectus.

• 43:48Matt Farah?

  10 to 12 folks.

• 43:50Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 43:50Matt Farah?

They will send us a fleet of cars and we can do our own here.

• 43:57Speaker 01

I really want to do Rhode Island though. I love Rhode Island.

• 44:00Matt Farah?

Rhode Island's, it is a good design for it. Yeah, yeah.

• 44:03Speaker 01

My in-laws are from there. Uh, I went to college just over the bridge in URI.

• 44:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 44:07Speaker 01

Ran, so did Hannah. Um, and we were there at the same time and didn't know each other. And I randomly, while I was back there a month ago, um, visiting family, we went and. Visited my wife's niece who's a freshman there and I ate in one of the dorms. I I gotta tell Hannah this too, because it was fucking amazing to be, I'm just sitting there going like, I cannot believe I'm here right now.

• 44:28Matt Farah?

  Yeah, you're freaking out.

• 44:29Speaker 01

Because it's totally different too, but uh, and the, but we went to her dorm room, which looked exactly like the same prison cell. But she's like, that building over there, you get your own rooms and it's like a hotel now. I was like, oh shit. But I'm walking around like in the, in the, in the dining hall, they had this app where you could like change the music overhead. I'm like, oh, I would have abused the fuck out of that. It would have been a slip slide up and down and it was a good range of music too, some country, some Kendrick, some like random shit. And I'm like, I'm like, oh, Kendrick going back to California. And it was so wild to be there. Um, but uh, I don't even, the gist of it is I would love to get back to Rhode Island to experience that. I'm, I'm.

• 45:04Matt Farah?

Newport is kind of an awesome place to visit.

• 45:07Speaker 01

  It's a, it's an interesting town.

• 45:09Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 45:10Speaker 01

In the winter, it's dead as fuck.

• 45:11Matt Farah?

Yeah, that makes sense. No, but the, the Audre Concorde's week is a really good time.

• 45:16Speaker 01

They shut down that street, right?

• 45:17Matt Farah?

They shut down and, and just Newport for that type of event. Like me and my dad literally went to all the events on fucking bird scooters. And like, you can't do that everywhere, but you can do it in Newport. And with the, with the veteran cars. Um, you know, the island of Newport isn't very big, but when you're, when you're going seventeen miles an hour.

• 45:39Speaker 01

  It takes forever.

• 45:40Matt Farah?

It takes a while. But yeah, we, you can come out and do it. I don't know if we can do it this year. Uh. But the car we drove last year, the Yale.

• 45:50Speaker 01

That was the good one, right? Yeah. Cause I watched both of them. I was, I, I, I watched both of them. I was very entertained. The first one was a thing.

• 46:00Matt Farah?

No, the first one was a thing we did. The second one, we almost podiumed.

• 46:05Matt Farah?

We were bobbing and I was fucking puffing a Cuban.

• 46:09Matt Farah?

It was such a bong. Shout out to Ben with the cigars. It was all right.

• 46:12Speaker 01

It was very, uh, feeling good, looking good.

• 46:15Matt Farah?

No, but the, but the oysters and the fucking white wine up there and the boat life.

• 46:21Speaker 01

  Rhode Island.

• 46:22Matt Farah?

  Newport is all right.

• 46:24Speaker 01

I love, I, I'm apparently the segue king. One of the greatest documentaries you can watch is about America's car. And I'm not a sailing guy. I need boats with throttles and power.

• 46:32Matt Farah?

Oh, you mean the Australia joint?

• 46:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 46:34Matt Farah?

  Oh.

• 46:35Speaker 01

  That's an amazing documentary.

• 46:36Matt Farah?

Did we talk about it last? Last time you were here.

• 46:38Speaker 01

Cause I probably had just watched it. I haven't been on for a bit.

• 46:42Matt Farah?

You're right. In terms of like, top three sports documentaries ever, what's the name of it? Look up the America's Cup sports document.

• 46:51Speaker 01

The whole and he's like kind of like a.

• 46:57Matt Farah?

Yes, Untold, the Race of the Century.

• 46:59Speaker 01

He develops that crazy keel and again, I'm not a sailboat guy, but I'm just like, and I was watching it.

• 47:04Matt Farah?

No, but you can get it.

• 47:05Speaker 01

I was renting a house down in Mesquamicket from a friend who's in tertiary car industry. Uh, he has an old beach house there. We rent it when we go back there. Cause it's a town over from Watch Hill, cause we can't afford Watch Hill, which is where Taylor.

• 47:16Matt Farah?

Can't afford Watch Hill, we're stuck in Mesquamicket.

• 47:19Speaker 01

My favorite boat of all time, cause I have a favorite boat, is in, just down the road in Watch Hill.

• 47:24Matt Farah?

  Stars and Stripes?

• 47:25Speaker 01

  Uh, no, Aphrodite.

• 47:27Matt Farah?

Aphrodite? Oh, isn't that, is that, is that the Onassis boat? No, whose boat was it? What makes it?

• 47:34Speaker 01

It was owned by a businessman in Staten Island, who donated it to the war effort back in the day. FDR used to be on it, watching sea trials of other boats and this boat was faster and smoother.

• 47:45Matt Farah?

Oh, is it like a, what they'd call a commuter boat?

• 47:48Speaker 01

  It was, but it's gorgeous.

• 47:50Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's a commuter boat. Oh, it's fucking sick.

• 47:53Speaker 01

It was found in, it was found in the mud in Florida.

• 47:57Matt Farah?

  Of course.

• 47:58Speaker 01

Ruined. It was restored. The guy who owns the ocean house in.

• 48:01Matt Farah?

Scroll right. This, so what, what we're looking at is probably about a sixty-five, oh seventy-four, it's a seventy-four foot.

• 48:09Speaker 01

It's my favorite boat on the planet.

• 48:10Matt Farah?

Imagine like, okay, imagine it's the Rolls Royce, uh, Rafe of boats. Aft cabin, long nose, high-end materials, very fast, sleek.

• 48:22Speaker 01

  It's like what.

• 48:23Matt Farah?

  Raked back.

• 48:23Speaker 01

It's like what Hinckley owners masturbate to.

• 48:27Matt Farah?

I, so they call these a commuter boats because basically. Folks who would live on like the Great Gatsby part of Long Island, would have these shits and commute into the city.

• 48:38Speaker 01

Staten, it was probably Long Island.

• 48:39Matt Farah?

  No, it's Long Island.

• 48:42Speaker 01

I saw the end of the Andrew Schultz stand-up. It wasn't Staten Island, uh, if you've seen that one on Netflix.

• 48:47Matt Farah?

Uh, but I, I, when I was doing my boat scam, when I was reviewing boats.

• 48:51Speaker 01

  Dude, I'm so jealous.

• 48:52Matt Farah?

Great scam. Um, well, it lasted, it was great scam. Uh, ended hard and fast. But the, but I drove, uh, Billy Joel had a commuter boat called Vendetta. Can you just pull it up real quick, Billy Joel Motor Yacht Vendetta? It's a, it's a sort of modernized version of this.

• 49:10Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 49:10Matt Farah?

It was sixty-five feet, zero staterooms. The whole inside was just a bar, like cheers.

• 49:18Speaker 01

  Oh shit.

• 49:18Matt Farah?

  Yeah, that was it.

• 49:19Speaker 01

  Oh wow.

• 49:19Matt Farah?

Yeah, it was so sick. I personally did like forty-five yachts of this thing. Yeah, it was awesome. It was great.

• 49:26Speaker 01

Oh my god. So that Aphrodite, this year the Ocean House has opened, which is an insane.

• 49:32Matt Farah?

Look at that, look at that angle.

• 49:33Speaker 01

That's, I mean, this, oh, it's like the boat tail.

• 49:35Matt Farah?

If you're at home listening to the audio of this, please make a note to Google the rear three-quarter view of Motor Yacht Vendetta.

• 49:44Speaker 01

It's, it's, and I will give it credit, Aphrodite remains my favorite, but that is.

• 49:49Matt Farah?

  It's different.

• 49:50Speaker 01

A stunner. That's in Florida too, where that is. That looks like Florida.

• 49:53Matt Farah?

This, yeah, I don't know where it is now, but this was in New, that looks like Mar-a-Lago. It's Palm Beach.

• 49:58Speaker 01

Oh, look at that photo too.

• 49:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 49:59Speaker 01

I wanna find the interior. What's the big yacht community, not Palm Beach, but um.

• 50:05Matt Farah?

  It is West Palm Beach.

• 50:06Speaker 01

  Okay, yeah.

• 50:06Matt Farah?

  It's West Palm Beach, yeah.

• 50:07Speaker 01

With all the canals and shit, yeah, okay, that looks like Palm Beach to me.

• 50:10Matt Farah?

Mm-hmm. Look at that. See there, you can see there's the, uh, the thing that's all bar below.

• 50:16Speaker 01

  And then the engine.

• 50:18Matt Farah?

No, yeah, but there's no stateroom.

• 50:20Speaker 01

I know, he's like, we got a place to drink and a place to shit. That's it. Honestly, that's rad.

• 50:26Matt Farah?

  Sick.

• 50:26Speaker 01

  Rad as fuck.

• 50:27Matt Farah?

  Good for you, Billy Joel.

• 50:28Speaker 01

I, I loved the boating scam. Those were some, it was so good, dude. You're like, we're out here in Newport, Twin Sticks, look at the, how smooth it is. Cause you did one of the boats that had the, uh.

• 50:38Matt Farah?

  The gyro.

• 50:39Speaker 01

  Yeah, the gyro.

• 50:40Matt Farah?

  Seakeeper.

• 50:41Speaker 01

  Yeah. It's not, it's not a gimmick.

• 50:45Matt Farah?

Oh no. Oh no, it's unbelievable. It, it, it's, that's like, that's like, if, that's like, if you showed that to someone in the nineteen forties, they would be like, you could have a cult. You could very easily start a cult by having a seakeeper. You'd be like, I can stop the wave.

• 51:07Speaker 01

  Right.

• 51:08Matt Farah?

Just like, have the clicker in your pocket.

• 51:11Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. Rockefeller's like, alright, I gotta give this guy a blowjob. Alright, you want the built more, here's the keys.

• 51:17Matt Farah?

Oh my god. Um, okay, wait. So, I want an update on all of your totally not.

• 51:25Matt Farah?

  Um shitboxes.

• 51:27Speaker 01

  Oof.

• 51:28Matt Farah?

No, okay, so let me take that back.

• 51:29Speaker 01

So I'll start with my wife's Mazda CX5.

• 51:31Matt Farah?

No, no, I want an update, I want an update of the Glucker Garage from most broken,

• 51:36Speaker 01

  Yeah, I don't know.

• 51:36Matt Farah?

  Most broken to least broken.

• 51:38Speaker 01

  Oh, well, the Mustang.

• 51:39Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 51:40Speaker 01

Counts as more broken than the Mercedes, which some of you will be amazed to know, yeah, I still own the Mercedes. My Mustang, um, which I don't even know when you have to scroll because I got so tired of, of not showing. I'm playing guitar in front of it in that one.

• 51:54Matt Farah?

  Sixties Mustang.

• 51:55Speaker 01

Sixty-seven that I bought. I was, I should have done the YouTuber thing. I bought the world's cheapest Mustang. Because I did.

• 52:01Matt Farah?

I just did it to great success.

• 52:03Speaker 01

  Uh, to what?

• 52:05Matt Farah?

  Taicon. Go on.

• 52:06Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, we're talking about different prices. I, I, I'm jealous of that one, too.

• 52:10Matt Farah?

  Still, it was the cheapest.

• 52:11Speaker 01

You and I, sometimes our brains are in sync on that. That you, that was a smart move. Um, I immediately started, when you posted that, I was like, immediately went to fucking Autotrader in Craigslist. I gotta shout Autotrader because they pay me. Um, the, um.

• 52:23Matt Farah?

Okay, so Mustang is most broken?

• 52:25Speaker 01

Mustang, I bought it from Motor Trend. Derek Bieri's show, uh, Roadworthy Rescues. Season one, episode one, they find a Mustang in the swamps of Tennessee on a farm for 28 years. He rescued it, made it roadworthy, as the name of the show implies.

• 52:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 52:40Speaker 01

Then it went to a lot that Motor Trend owned. I bought it, um, I, because I've, I've always wanted a Mustang. But Mustang prices are fucked, especially fastbacks. Fastback prices are broken. It's 30 grand for a shell.

• 52:52Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 52:53Speaker 01

Which is stupid. Uh, there was a while where you could pick up running Mustangs, V8 Mustangs for good prices. And that day is gone. I think we'll get back there, but we're, but we're not there now. So I, this Mustang, uh, a friend of mine who's a producer for Motor Trend or was, um, he's like, oh, you want that piece of shit? Normally when Motor Trend has to sell a car, there's a list of names who want it. And they like might roll the dice and be like, all right, you get it. He's like, no one's name is on that. I was like, oh, that's a bad sign. He's like, they're asking 2,500. He goes, for that fucking car? Offer a thousand. He goes, no, fuck that. Offer 750. I go, hey, uh, Steve, who's the guy, the, the keeper? I was like, 750? He goes, deal. I was like, oh, shit.

• 53:33Speaker 01

And then a dude who was like logistics for head to head drag race on our show and was did logistics for Ken Block's family too, like moving race cars. He just loves being on the road towing ship. I'm like, Cody, could you tow that car from their lot, wherever it is up in LA to my house? He goes, yeah, deal. Didn't charge me. I handed him a bottle, I think a bottle of whiskey or bourbon that he liked. He's like, awesome, man. We unloaded it. Running, driving, straight six, automatic Mustang.

• 53:58Matt Farah?

  Oh, here it is.

• 53:59Speaker 01

Yeah, that thing. Oh, look, playing Wu-Tang in the background. Come on. That's a full circle moment.

• 54:05Matt Farah?

It basically looks like the before of Bumblebee.

• 54:08Speaker 01

Oh, this is old because the engine is still in it. Wow.

• 54:11Speaker 02

  So running, driving.

• 54:12Speaker 01

Vanagon roof because the hood is on the.

• 54:14Speaker 02

Slant six, is it like three on the tree?

• 54:15Speaker 01

  Straight six.

• 54:16Speaker 02

  Straight six?

• 54:16Speaker 01

  Not a slant six.

• 54:17Speaker 02

  Sorry.

• 54:18Speaker 01

Straight six. Uh, uh, four, uh, four speed? No, three, whatever the C4 is. Um, whatever. It's a dog shit.

• 54:25Matt Farah?

You're getting rid of that, right?

• 54:27Speaker 01

  This is very, that's 24.

• 54:30Matt Farah?

Oh, yeah. So you've gotten rid of that?

• 54:32Speaker 01

Yeah, all of that is gone. I bought, I found a guy who wanted it all, uh, which is great. He, I, I took off half the shit I didn't want. I posted it. I'm talking engine, trans, drive shaft, suspension, brakes, all this shit because a, a, a V8 cars are five lug. Those are four lug cars.

• 54:48Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 54:48Speaker 01

Um, he's like, and I had half of the stuff off. I was like 500 bucks for a working engine, working trans, but it blows smoke and you know.

• 54:56Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it's like.

• 54:56Speaker 01

He's like, I have a, a one on my lot that I need to just turn into a runner. He's like, I'll take all of it. He drove from like Antelope Valley. Uh, and he had a built in engine hoist in his truck. I'm like, oh, this is, dude. Took 500 cash. He was the nice enough guy. I'm like, I took the envelope. I don't need to count it. And, and then I counted it when he left and it was all there.

• 55:15Speaker 02

  Running down the street.

• 55:16Speaker 01

And then he's like, when you need to sell the rest of it, call me. So I, I pulled off all the other stuff, rear axle, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Hey, uh, I got it all off. Another 500 bucks. He's like, I'll be there tomorrow. Boom. Took it all off. So now I've learned taking a car apart.

• 55:31Speaker 02

  Very easy.

• 55:31Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 55:32Speaker 01

  Putting your car back together.

• 55:33Matt Farah?

  Different story for sure.

• 55:35Speaker 01

  Cause I'm rewiring it.

• 55:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Oh.

• 55:38Speaker 01

So I've gotten to the point. I bought the, the, um, what's the kit? The fucking. They make the best wiring kit.

• 55:44Speaker 02

  Painless wiring?

• 55:45Speaker 01

Yeah, painless. I got a painless kit. Literally every wire is labeled to where it goes, which is fucking brilliant. But I hate it. I hate doing, I hate it.

• 55:53Matt Farah?

You know what that makes you, like a normal person?

• 55:55Speaker 01

Right. So, I, I got, I let the car sit for a while because I was so brain dead of like, how am I gonna do this? I fucking hate this. I'm gonna rebuild the front suspension. So I went in, I did the front suspension, the shop in OC where my Mercedes is at, it's like, hey, I've got these pieces from uh Meyer Racing for upper and lower.

• 56:11Speaker 02

  Oh, right.

• 56:12Speaker 01

So like, alright, put those in, put the, like, nothing is torqued, but it's bolted in. Now I'm looking like, oh, I can do front brakes. I'm looking at the car, I'm like, alright, so I go front brakes, now I've got that, I can get, then I can start thinking about wheels and tires. I get a nine inch in the back, because I already have the rest of the suspension, I get wheels and tires, I, I uh sent a text to Brian who OC Car in Lake Forest, I'm like, "Hey, Brian, um, if I tow this to your shop, can you guys finish the wiring for me?" He's like, "Oh, absolutely." So that's gonna be my play.

• 56:41Matt Farah?

You found someone who was excited to do wiring?

• 56:44Speaker 01

No, they're not excited, but they're, they're a hot rod shop.

• 56:46Speaker 02

  They'll do it for money.

• 56:46Speaker 01

They're, they're a muscle car hot rod shop. Yeah, yeah.

• 56:48Matt Farah?

Speaking of wiring, I just sent.

• 56:51Speaker 01

It'll take them a fucking day.

• 56:52Speaker 02

What engine are you putting in there?

• 56:53Speaker 01

Uh, so, my goal, my plan is 302.

• 56:57Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 56:58Speaker 01

But then I'm talking to, but I wanted to rev. There's a dude on Instagram called Fred Shepherd Racing, he's a British dude who runs American cars at like the revival. And they sound fucking incredible. He drives the balls off them, uh, like, like cutting the chicane tight, you know, like, and he rev, it sounds like he's revving them to seven, I want to be able to rev my Mustang to 7,000 RPM. I want it to scream. I want a screamer.

• 57:20Matt Farah?

I drove that uh, Mark Don, uh, not Mark Don, Parnell Jones car.

• 57:25Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah.

• 57:26Matt Farah?

  I drove a Parnell.

• 57:27Speaker 02

  High.

• 57:27Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. One of the worst video, one of the worst performing videos I've ever made.

• 57:31Speaker 01

  Of course, of course.

• 57:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Actual 1970 Boss 302.

• 57:35Speaker 02

  Trans Am.

• 57:35Matt Farah?

It made, it made, uh, it made zero dog shit power.

• 57:39Speaker 01

  Right, that's fine.

• 57:40Matt Farah?

Until 5,000, and then from 5 to 85, it was a complete.

• 57:44Speaker 01

That's why Matt Damon holds the sign up.

• 57:45Matt Farah?

It was a complete animal, and then it had no fucking brakes, and no, no power steering.

• 57:51Speaker 01

Because you could do 351, which is all low end, or you could do 302 and 289, or.

• 57:56Matt Farah?

  Or 347 stroker.

• 57:58Speaker 01

  347. In our Lemon's car, we have a 331.

• 58:02Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 58:02Speaker 01

Um, which is fucking so awesome.

• 58:05Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 58:05Speaker 01

So, I'm like, like, should I do junkyard 93 Mustang engine? It's a stroke 302, it's just a different kit.

• 58:12Matt Farah?

It's a stroke without the bore, yeah.

• 58:13Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah.

• 58:15Speaker 02

Zach Bowman has a Mustang with like a 302 and a 5 speed from something and it's so fun to drive.

• 58:21Speaker 01

We've talked about his car before, cause he drove it, and his car for years has been the inspiration for me buying one. Cause I asked him like, what would it take to buy that? And he laughed. Um, I was like, would you take the Montero? And he's just like, you know, like, me being a, I was drunk.

• 58:32Speaker 02

He has so many off-road vehicles, he doesn't need more of them.

• 58:34Matt Farah?

My apologies at home if you can hear Rosa vacuuming.

• 58:39Speaker 01

Rather have her vacuum than not. This place is a dump.

• 58:42Speaker 02

So you're wiring it before you get the engine for it, cause you know you're gonna put in it?

• 58:45Speaker 01

Cause yeah, cause Holly sent me a whole, I have a whole issue with Holly, but Holly sent me a Sniper EFI, um. I'll, I'll talk about it, I don't give a shit. Uh, Holly sent me, we were work, I was working with them, they were giving me discount on parts. I ordered a couple wrong things, which is on me, I ordered the wrong part numbers. Um, so I sent it back. One thing I ordered incorrectly was, I ordered, I'm like, wow, Detroit Speed has engine mounts, I'll get the Detroit Speed engine mounts. I didn't realize you also had to have their alumna front subframe.

• 59:13Matt Farah?

Wait dude, are you? Are you concerned about building a half a race car?

• 59:19Speaker 01

  No, no, no, no.

• 59:20Matt Farah?

  Are you sure?

• 59:21Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, no, I just want a ratty Canyon Carver.

• 59:24Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 59:24Speaker 01

I want it to look ugly and then people go, oh shit.

• 59:26Matt Farah?

Okay, alright, but you're, but you're not, but you know what I mean?

• 59:29Speaker 01

But I was getting a discount, no, I was getting a discount, I'm like, I'll take those Detroit, like, I'll take these Detroit Speed, Detroit, Detroit, whatever, uh, uh.

• 59:36Matt Farah?

  Is it not just Detroit?

• 59:38Speaker 01

I don't know, I, I felt weird saying either one, so, um, it could be the fucking, um, so.

• 59:43Speaker 02

  How much Celsius was that?

• 59:45Speaker 01

  I know dude.

• 59:46Speaker 02

Guys, am I talking weird? Am I pronouncing cities wrong?

• 59:50Speaker 01

Alright. So I, I, you needed to buy the alumna, I didn't buy the subframe, cause it's thousands of dollars, so I'm like, oh, I gotta send these back. They get them back, they're like, oh, they're scratched up from your install, we can't use them. I'm like, I didn't install them, I took them out of the box and went, these are wrong. But they're, they normally go to like, Riddler, not Riddler, but like, high-end builds. I'm like, I didn't fucking even install them, they arrived to me like that, they jangled in the box and like, some powder coat rubbed off. They're like, we can't take them back. They're $500 engine mounts. I'm like, alright, and I ordered the wrong front brakes, cuz I, I like, I put a, a number wrong, I transposed a number. So I ordered like G body front brakes instead of fucking Mustang.

• 1:00:34Speaker 01

  Something stupid. Again, my fault.

• 1:00:37Matt Farah?

  You were drunk shopping.

• 1:00:38Speaker 01

I wasn't, I swear to God, I literally transposed a number. The, and the Detroit Speed thing was dumb, Detroit Speed thing was dumb.

• 1:00:44Matt Farah?

Judge Klapman, what do you, what's that?

• 1:00:47Speaker 02

I wasn't there when it happened.

• 1:00:48Speaker 01

  Simple mistake.

• 1:00:49Speaker 02

But you gestured like you wrote them by hand, so did you write the part numbers by hand?

• 1:00:52Speaker 01

I said, dearest Holly, I write to you from the battlefields of my Mustang.

• 1:00:56Matt Farah?

You see my quill was running out of ink.

• 1:00:59Speaker 01

  I quiver at the thought.

• 1:01:00Speaker 02

I used blood and it ran. I had too much alcohol in my system and therefore an eight looks like a zero.

• 1:01:06Speaker 01

So I said to them, I said,

• 1:01:07Matt Farah?

  Oh boy.

• 1:01:08Speaker 01

So, they fucking, they denied that. I'm waiting to get this stuff back, and then the PR guy was off on a trip on SEMA, and then he kinda ghosted me. And then I still get their PR person being like, hey, we got this new thing coming out, we're doing this, I'm like, but they're not responding to any emails, nothing. I'm like, you know what, fuck this. And I don't wanna be done with Holly because they literally make, they own Everything. Everything that I need for this car, and they've given me a bunch at a discount, but I'm also like, it, it, it's annoying. I, I mean, it's very annoying that they're like, we can't take those back, we're not getting back to you on the brakes, fuck you, oh, but here's a PR release that now we offer parts in Mexico. I'm like, oh, I wonder why you offer parts in Mexico now all of a sudden, wink, fucking like, okay, I'm not gonna, fuck you. Fuck you.

• 1:01:50Matt Farah?

And people are like, Matt, how did you get to 23 grand in receipts for the Bentley? By not that.

• 1:01:57Speaker 01

I'm over it, I'm done with it.

• 1:01:58Matt Farah?

I bought my way around that, is what I did.

• 1:02:02Speaker 01

This process, and I talked to a good friend in the Overland community, AJ, AJ Photo Runner on Instagram, amazing photographer, has some great truck builds, he travels a lot, takes good photos. And I asked him like, oh, how much, who'd you get those wheels through? He's like, I bought them. I'm like, oh really? He's like, yeah, I'm, he's like, I'm sick of owing people things.

• 1:02:20Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:02:20Speaker 01

Like, I understand if you send me something, and, and that's, it is a transactional nature at times. If I get tires from K O two, I'm gonna go say like, oh, you know, K or BFG, excuse me, K O threes are coming out in my size someday. Uh, when they eventually come out, I'll put them on the truck. Here's why they're awesome, thank you for the free tires, and I, I, I will tell the truth about them, but it's still, I got the tires for free.

• 1:02:42Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:42Speaker 01

But I'm so sick of owing people stuff.

• 1:02:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:45Speaker 01

And it sucks because like sometimes they dangle stuff where you're like, oh, you want this, you want this. Yeah, I really need that. I really need that. It's very expensive to build and I don't have this money to do this. And it is literally, the car is a table in my garage right now.

• 1:02:57Matt Farah?

Look, you have to pay for it one way or the other. You pay for it in cash or you pay for it in sweat equity? Or you pay for it in labor or some combination of the three?

• 1:03:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:03:08Matt Farah?

Uh, I, I got other things to do. So I'll, I'll blend paying for it in, you know, promo sweat equity with cash. But like, you know what I mean? Like, but you're kind of, you're there, you're sort of in the middle. With my Fox body, there was a bunch of trade for this, trade for that. And that's how it ended up taking two years to build the car.

• 1:03:29Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 1:03:30Matt Farah?

You know, cause it was just, it was always a back and forth about, not that anybody was ill-intentioned or anything.

• 1:03:36Speaker 01

  No, of course.

• 1:03:36Matt Farah?

It was just a constant back and forth about some bullshit.

• 1:03:40Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:03:40Matt Farah?

Um, building cars can be a pain in the ass.

• 1:03:43Speaker 01

Yeah, especially when you don't know what you're doing.

• 1:03:45Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:03:46Speaker 01

  I'm learning though. I'm learning.

• 1:03:47Speaker 02

There's a, there's a reason that all of my power steering fluid was on the ground last night.

• 1:03:51Speaker 01

  That was a great photo.

• 1:03:52Matt Farah?

Oh, yeah. No, what happened? Klapman, what happened?

• 1:03:55Speaker 01

  Dude.

• 1:03:55Speaker 02

  Uh.

• 1:03:56Matt Farah?

  You broke your shit?

• 1:03:57Speaker 02

I, I didn't break it, but I, you know, I, I left my, I was gonna go, I got, I went to get a haircut. Meant to take the Lotus, walked downstairs, didn't have the Lotus key, cause I have too many keychains now. I'm like a janitor. I go, I'll just take my car, test drive it. I haven't driven it yet since I installed all new power steering hoses and fluid.

• 1:04:15Matt Farah?

He took a Dremel to the car.

• 1:04:17Speaker 02

That was recommended by some people and it, I think it was fine.

• 1:04:22Matt Farah?

Moral threshold you cross the first time you cut something off, you know?

• 1:04:27Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:04:28Matt Farah?

  Unbolt, rebolt.

• 1:04:30Speaker 01

It's different on my Montero where like I can like kick things off. Yes. 846 difference.

• 1:04:34Speaker 02

This, you know, the, that hose had been on there for 23 years.

• 1:04:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:40Speaker 02

So it was kind of seized on, but that was fine.

• 1:04:42Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 1:04:42Speaker 02

So I, I replaced those hoses, but it's, that's a good thing to bring up, cause that comes into the plot later. Uh, and I drive down, you know, Jefferson, which is dead straight and I'm like, oh, right. My steering feels fine. And then I turned left, I'm like, does it?

• 1:04:58Speaker 01

Does it? I mean, and this is one of the cars that defines steering wheel.

• 1:05:02Speaker 02

Well, here's like, yeah, you know what, it's not as perfect as people say, like, for the time, sure, pretty good. Dead spot in the middle, but then it gets alright.

• 1:05:08Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:05:09Speaker 02

But, uh, I turn left and I'm like, something feels weird. And so I'll just go full disclosure with, with honesty. And I drive and I, and I start, my brain starts going super fast, like, what am I hearing? I'm hearing like a jingle sound, but it's not RPM dependent. What is this weird vibration coming through the car?

• 1:05:25Speaker 01

When it's not RPM dependent, you're like, what the?

• 1:05:27Speaker 02

Right, what the fuck, what the fuck? And I go, oh, I didn't tighten my lug nuts down.

• 1:05:32Speaker 01

  No!

• 1:05:33Speaker 02

Yes. Because when I, when I first jacked the car up, when this all began a week ago, I went, alright, I need to take my wheels off for access to all the parts. And then I immediately went, oh wait, no I don't. But I'd already cracked them loose.

• 1:05:45Speaker 01

  You'd broken the bolts before.

• 1:05:46Speaker 02

I'd broken the bolts and I didn't immediately tighten them. So I have a sign now that I printed that says, check your lug.

• 1:05:52Speaker 01

I saw that, I was wondering what.

• 1:05:53Speaker 02

  So.

• 1:05:53Speaker 01

  Wait, but, okay.

• 1:05:54Speaker 02

So that's a different thing. So I pull over and I, I go, okay, I'm not driving this car anymore. I'm cancelling my haircut. Like, I took a lift home, I grabbed my jack and I, I took a lift with a jack back to my car. What are you gonna do?

• 1:06:07Speaker 01

Too bad it wasn't that guy in the 2500.

• 1:06:08Speaker 02

  Right.

• 1:06:08Speaker 01

You wouldn't have been so excited. Wait, could you not, could you not tighten the bolts with the car on the ground? You need it, what?

• 1:06:13Speaker 02

I needed more leverage, because the only, the toolkit that's in the back of the, uh, M3 does not work for a studs.

• 1:06:19Speaker 01

  Really?

• 1:06:19Speaker 02

It, it, because I have studs now, not lug nuts.

• 1:06:22Speaker 01

Oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, it's been converted?

• 1:06:24Speaker 02

It's been converted, which is rad.

• 1:06:25Speaker 01

Was it converted for these wheels? BMW was lug bolts, right, originally?

• 1:06:28Speaker 02

Yeah. Originally it's lug bolts. And now it's lug nuts. And so you need a deeper, better, but you need a deeper wrench and all that stuff. So I'll be keeping a new wrench in the back of the truck.

• 1:06:38Speaker 01

Okay, that makes sense, that makes sense.

• 1:06:40Speaker 02

But that's why I went home.

• 1:06:41Speaker 01

Because I was gonna say, give it just a fucking yank.

• 1:06:42Speaker 02

Yeah, no, I would've done that, but obviously that would be fine. Um, so I go back and I jack the car up and I tighten them all down and I torque them to, you know, 90 pound, pound feet. And people are like, holy shit, uh, in the chat. So that's fine. And then I pull away and I decide, alright, I'm gonna, I'm three blocks from my haircut. And I turn and I go, "That feels weird in the wheel now." The vibration sound is gone.

• 1:07:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:07:04Speaker 02

  So that's the good news.

• 1:07:05Speaker 01

  Uh oh.

• 1:07:05Speaker 02

But when I turn into the driveway to the haircut place, I recognize I have no power steering. Like, it is very hard and gone. And I pull in, and I open the door, and it's raining, and I look down at the ground, and I see the rainbow that I posted on Instagram. I go, and I could see the trail, like, yep, that's, I Exxon Valdez.

• 1:07:24Speaker 01

  That's me.

• 1:07:25Speaker 02

  Like, that's me, my bad.

• 1:07:26Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:07:27Speaker 02

And, and I just, you know, head to the sky, I pop the hood, and the fitting that I had dremelled off and replaced had popped off. And what this is, is it's a medium pressure power steering line that goes to the power steering cooler and the return.

• 1:07:41Speaker 01

Okay. So you need a different clamp?

• 1:07:43Speaker 02

  It's a weird, I hate whoever invented these things. It's like a press-on fitting.

• 1:07:50Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:07:50Speaker 02

And once it, it slips over the mail end, and like, this collar with these barbs are supposed to snap into place.

• 1:07:56Speaker 01

Like, like my air hose on the compressor.

• 1:07:58Speaker 02

  A lot like that.

• 1:07:59Speaker 01

  But it's not mechanical.

• 1:08:00Speaker 02

  It's not, mm.

• 1:08:02Speaker 01

Like, it's not mechanical like an air hose.

• 1:08:03Speaker 02

It's not mechanical like an air hose, it's, it's almost like, uh, it's like, it has barbs like teeth.

• 1:08:06Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:08:07Speaker 02

  And.

• 1:08:07Speaker 01

So it still needs a fucking clamp.

• 1:08:09Speaker 02

It, it has, it has its own clamp built into it.

• 1:08:12Speaker 01

  Okay. Ooh, does it?

• 1:08:14Speaker 02

It does. But when you press it on, you're supposed to hear a click, according to the videos, which I heard on both hoses. And one of them was fine, and one of them, I looked and was obviously off. So there's just fresh redline ATF everywhere. And, uh, I, very fun, I call the manager of Office Autosport, who's so nice, and I go, "Yeah, I know I didn't pay you to do this, and I did it myself, but I have a question. Can you ask," and I was like, "Can you ask Ken, the very nice tech that usually works on my car, what I have done wrong?" And I sent him a photo of the fitting to show that I had not overdremelled, or in the hope I hadn't, which I didn't.

• 1:08:51Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:08:51Speaker 02

I was very accurate, because Cassandra goes, "How aggressive were you with the dremel?" Like, he, he paused and asked.

• 1:08:57Speaker 01

That's a crazy thing, though, to ask you to dremel your car.

• 1:09:02Speaker 02

It, it's just, there are special tools you can use to get these fittings off, but if they won't release, because they're old. Like, basically, when they put them out of the factory, there's the barb that clamps on the fitting, then there's a sealant they use, and that, like, glued itself. So you have to release the aluminum pressure of the casing of the hose, and then knock the thing off. But basically, when I was pushing this new fitting on, it was clicking, but it wasn't actually locking into place.

• 1:09:28Matt Farah?

Oh, so it just blew off?

• 1:09:30Speaker 02

It blew off, and then I subsequently-

• 1:09:32Speaker 01

So you could drive the car home, though?

• 1:09:33Speaker 02

I drove it home because it was close enough.

• 1:09:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:09:35Speaker 02

And it was honestly closer to drive home than to drive to a auto parts store for a new ATF.

• 1:09:40Speaker 01

  Yeah, I mean-

• 1:09:41Speaker 02

So, it was dead straight. So I drove home and I just-

• 1:09:43Speaker 01

I don't know if there's any damage to it.

• 1:09:45Matt Farah?

I mean, it was like a mile, right?

• 1:09:47Speaker 02

If you drive too far with it dry, you can burn out your power steering pump.

• 1:09:49Matt Farah?

Yeah, that's what I thought, but it was like a mile.

• 1:09:50Speaker 02

  It was.

• 1:09:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:51Speaker 02

  And, so it seems fine.

• 1:09:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:53Speaker 01

I would've driven home angry, like, fuck you!

• 1:09:55Speaker 02

I was concerned, and I'm in the stoplight, and I'm like, why do I like this car? What am I doing?

• 1:09:59Speaker 01

You have visions of Matt's, like, "I spent 21,000 on steering seals."

• 1:10:03Speaker 02

Well, in that moment, I was like, it wouldn't have been worth the money to pay them to do this correctly the first time.

• 1:10:07Speaker 01

  Oh, there's that.

• 1:10:08Speaker 02

There's that, but, uh, you know, I'm having an adventure in learning to do this, so...

• 1:10:13Matt Farah?

But also, like, just to defend myself. Not even, I don't need to defend it, no.

• 1:10:20Speaker 01

  That's a Bentley.

• 1:10:20Matt Farah?

But like, if Zach is driving this M3, if Sarah was driving it all the time-

• 1:10:27Speaker 02

  Sure.

• 1:10:28Matt Farah?

It might be a different story.

• 1:10:29Speaker 02

  Bigger problem, for sure.

• 1:10:30Matt Farah?

If I'm willing, if I'm driving my own car, I'm willing to adjust my driving style, I'm willing to do a variety of things in order to make that experience safe and whatever. But I can't expect Hannah to do all that same shit, which is part of the reason that I didn't necessarily want her driving the Bentley around anymore. Is because although she is a good driver, she does not understand that you drive completely differently with a 35-year-old car-

• 1:11:03Speaker 01

  You read the plate, Bentley.

• 1:11:04Matt Farah?

Than you do with a brand-new one.

• 1:11:06Speaker 02

I was telling one of the Lyft drivers a story on the way back, because the one on the way there had the thing on the app that says, "Don't talk to me." And the guy, he was like, "Well, it's a good thing you heard a weird sound and knew enough to pull over." And I was like, "That's because I drive a lot of cars." But to your point, Matt, if Sarah had been driving and called me, I'd go, "Eh, it's probably just something rattling in the stereo." Just, it'll be fine. And then her fucking wheels would fall off.

• 1:11:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:11:31Speaker 02

  So...

• 1:11:32Matt Farah?

Dude, I was in the back of a fucking Model 3, one of those other Ubers. The guy, the guy didn't say a word, but wholly out of balance rear wheels. The vibrety, vibrety is 25 miles.

• 1:11:47Speaker 01

One of the craziest Ubers, uh, when I went to buy my Montero, I was in a Sonata, a regular Sonata. The dude hit a hundred and ten.

• 1:11:55Matt Farah?

  Woo!

• 1:11:57Speaker 01

And I was like, yo, I wanna get there, but I wanna get there alive.

• 1:11:59Matt Farah?

Dude, if you're, if you're not the end.

• 1:12:03Speaker 02

I would tell the driver, you need to slow down. I've done it before.

• 1:12:06Speaker 01

I was literally about to be like, hey, man, and then like traffic. I was like, yeah.

• 1:12:11Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:11Speaker 01

I wish I was, there are times in life where I wish, uh, cause I am a, a take a breath, be calm, everything's gonna be okay.

• 1:12:20Matt Farah?

  Montero driver.

• 1:12:22Speaker 01

Yeah, no, I drive that thing like an asshole, actually. I, I, I think I can drive that thing shockingly well. Like I can take on and off ramps, you'd be like, whoa, and I'd be like, no, I got this, homie. Like I, I drive the piss out of that car, which is probably why I'm on.

• 1:12:35Speaker 02

Which is why, but you're still going the speed limit when driving that fast, yeah.

• 1:12:37Speaker 01

Uh, uh, no, man, I, I fucking, when I have to get to like a lemons race in that thing up in Buttonwill, I've driven it to Thunderhill and I'm like.

• 1:12:45Speaker 02

  That's a long drive.

• 1:12:46Matt Farah?

You drove to Thunderhill in that car? Does it have cruise control?

• 1:12:51Speaker 01

Actually, it does, but it doesn't work.

• 1:12:54Matt Farah?

  Dude.

• 1:12:55Speaker 01

It does, it actually, I actually think it's amazing that it came with cruise control.

• 1:12:58Matt Farah?

Alright, listen, if you're out there and you don't understand Los Angeles and, and, and I'm sorry, not Los Angeles. That's not Los Angeles, California geography. Where you live, which is in Orange County, to Thunderhill is like seven hundred miles.

• 1:13:15Speaker 01

Eighty percent of the worst part.

• 1:13:17Matt Farah?

  It's so fucking far.

• 1:13:19Speaker 01

That's not even the worst part of that drive. Because the next year I flew to Thunderhill because fu- well, Sacramento, but then drove. That trip to Thunderhill, I get in my truck, it's, and I'm in charge of food when we race lemons. So I have my fridge, I have all that shit, sorry, camera, I have all that shit, uh, loaded up. Alright, let's do this. Maybe leaving at like nine thirty, ten AM. Boom. Around Long Beach, I was, remember I was breaking hard because someone cut me off and I felt a pop. And then all of a sudden it pulled hard to the left. I was like, that's weird. And anytime I hit the brakes, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I was like, fuck, something has broken. And I just got my brakes done. I pull off the freeway right by the Long Beach Airport.

• 1:14:00Speaker 01

I pull into a fucking random, well, actually first I pull into a lot and I look under and I can see one of my caliper bolts has exited the chat. Oops. I'm like. I have so far to go.

• 1:14:10Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:14:11Speaker 01

Just started the drive. I find a lot within a mile and to get there, I drove slowly on surface streets using my parking brake to slow down for stop signs.

• 1:14:19Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:20Speaker 01

Um, just because that's rear brakes and uh, pull in, they're like, we can get you in.

• 1:14:25Speaker 01

Soon. And it's a 91 Montero and the guy's like, I'm sitting there for an hour and a half, maybe. And I'm just like, what the fuck is, I'm like, I have such a long drive ahead of me. And I, I just, I'm not being, I'm not asking anything. I'm, I know I'm, it's their rush hour. I'm not trying to be a dick. Like, hey, man, just checking in. It's like, we actually, we're on your truck now. Our guy is looking for a thing, blah, blah, blah. He's like, we can't find any parts on, online. I'm like, if you can just get the bolt that fits the caliper. I do not care the brand of bolt. I do not care. It doesn't need to be, he's like, that's all we needed to hear. We have a bucket out back. I'm like, fucking.

• 1:15:02Matt Farah?

  Start digging, homie.

• 1:15:03Speaker 02

  It's a fasten all bucket.

• 1:15:04Speaker 01

Thirty minutes. They're like, we bolted it up, we've tested it, it clamps, it does move. I'm like, it's all I need.

• 1:15:08Speaker 02

What part were they trying about? New caliper?

• 1:15:10Speaker 01

  No, I don't know what.

• 1:15:11Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 1:15:12Speaker 01

They were like, they were like, hold brake kits. Like, I'm like, I just need the fucking bolt. And like, he's like, he's like, we've even like asked local Auto Zones. I'm like, I don't care. Like, it can, you can take it off that guy's, I don't give a.

• 1:15:24Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:15:24Speaker 01

Cause I still needed to go to Alpine Stars, cause my, uh, one of my friends is giving me a new suit. But I needed to go pick it up. And then I needed to go to fucking Johnny's house on the other side of LA. Cause he had, um, I don't run a Hans, I run the, uh, next.

• 1:15:37Matt Farah?

You're talking about running errands in LA for a race in Thunder Hill?

• 1:15:41Speaker 01

  I was picking up things.

• 1:15:42Speaker 02

  They're on, on the way.

• 1:15:44Speaker 01

They were on the way. So I go to, I finally get my truck on the road.

• 1:15:48Matt Farah?

  Thought I had this.

• 1:15:48Speaker 01

I go to Alpine Stars, which is in what? Torrance, I think Alpine Stars is in. Whatever, it's on this side.

• 1:15:54Speaker 02

  I believe you.

• 1:15:54Speaker 01

So then I have to cross, I have to cross LA to where Johnny lives.

• 1:16:00Matt Farah?

  That is.

• 1:16:01Speaker 01

Thankfully, by the time I arrived there.

• 1:16:03Matt Farah?

All of this is your fault.

• 1:16:04Speaker 01

  LA traffic has died down.

• 1:16:05Matt Farah?

Okay, all of this is your fault. You made, you made terrible choices.

• 1:16:09Speaker 01

  So then.

• 1:16:09Speaker 02

You haven't even started the trip yet.

• 1:16:11Speaker 01

I finally leave, where is he, Eagle Rock, wherever the fuck Johnny is.

• 1:16:15Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:15Speaker 01

I finally leave there where traffic has relaxed and my journey north is like now. I pull into Thunder Hill at one or two AM.

• 1:16:24Matt Farah?

Yeah, everything about what you've just said is awful.

• 1:16:26Speaker 01

  I told them like.

• 1:16:27Speaker 02

  Seventeen hours.

• 1:16:28Speaker 01

I told them like, hey, just leave two Coronas out, because our Pacificos. They're like, yeah, they're like, we're not gonna be out. I'm like, yeah, it's fine.

• 1:16:36Matt Farah?

How is your time not worth more than this?

• 1:16:39Speaker 01

  It is.

• 1:16:39Speaker 02

That's why I flew the next year.

• 1:16:40Speaker 01

  That's the problem.

• 1:16:41Matt Farah?

  Crazy.

• 1:16:42Speaker 01

But I like being able to sleep in my truck when I'm there.

• 1:16:44Matt Farah?

Look, I liked rolling this Bentley for a year.

• 1:16:46Speaker 02

Rent a grand, I, I did this. I flew up to Thunder Hill.

• 1:16:49Speaker 01

  No way.

• 1:16:49Speaker 02

And I rented a grand caravan.

• 1:16:52Speaker 01

The following year, I borrowed a press key at Carnival and I slept.

• 1:16:55Speaker 02

  Just do that.

• 1:16:56Speaker 01

  It was wonderful.

• 1:16:57Speaker 02

  Way better.

• 1:16:57Speaker 01

Buttonwillow, different, when we raced at Buttonwillow, different story. I'm like, oh, you guys there? Awesome. No, that drive to me is fantastic. However, the last time I did it, the last race at Buttonwillow.

• 1:17:08Matt Farah?

Cause you can skip around the city from us.

• 1:17:11Speaker 01

I get to the base of the grapevine.

• 1:17:13Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:14Speaker 01

Fully stopped traffic going up. And I'm like.

• 1:17:19Speaker 01

Heavens, heavens no. I should have put it into four low.

• 1:17:23Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:24Speaker 01

And let it crawl up because I actually, for the first time I've ever owned the car, I actually felt heat in the transmission. If I put it in four low and just let it walk, it would have been like.

• 1:17:33Matt Farah?

It probably would have been good.

• 1:17:34Speaker 01

  It would have been fine.

• 1:17:36Matt Farah?

I cycle my Delica's gearbox through four by four and low all the time, even though it's just a street driven.

• 1:17:44Speaker 01

  That's the diesel, right?

• 1:17:45Matt Farah?

It is the diesel. Yeah. I just had it serviced. We had everything, we had everything done.

• 1:17:51Speaker 01

  Is that going soon or?

• 1:17:53Matt Farah?

No, Hannah loves it. Are you kidding me? Hannah would fucking kill me if I got her.

• 1:17:57Speaker 01

  I gotta drive that fucker.

• 1:17:58Matt Farah?

  You wanna drive it?

• 1:17:59Speaker 01

  Not tonight, but.

• 1:18:01Matt Farah?

  Hannah was like when we

• 1:18:02Speaker 01

Well, I'm like, when the cameras turn off, yes, I do.

• 1:18:04Matt Farah?

Hannah was like, when you come home for dinner after this, can you have Jeff drive it home?

• 1:18:09Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:18:10Matt Farah?

I was like, Jeff's taking an Uber so you can get wasted. And she was like, Hannah. She was like, it has like eighty-five horsepower. What could happen?

• 1:18:17Speaker 01

Oh shit, and I'd be the most familiar person you could put in that fucking car.

• 1:18:21Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:22Speaker 01

I remember when we drove, I drove you home here from one, uh, once in my Montero.

• 1:18:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:27Speaker 01

And you were like, this thing has torque. I'm like, it's because you were used to the Delica.

• 1:18:29Matt Farah?

I also drove a, uh, uh, one of the guys at BBI, Jared, um, has a, like a, a JDM Land Cruiser with a, with a four-cylinder. That has like so much more torque than the Delica. I thi- it turns out the Delica's engine actually sucks balls.

• 1:18:46Speaker 01

I drove a, a JDM swapped eighty series Land Cruiser.

• 1:18:50Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:50Speaker 01

  With the Japanese diesel.

• 1:18:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:52Speaker 01

Uh, for Scott from Express Rally, who might be doing a tour of this

• 1:18:55Matt Farah?

  Big torque.

• 1:18:56Speaker 01

Place. He's talking to Vinny about it. Don't worry about it. I texted you once about it and then I texted Vinny and Vinny's dealing with it. He's doing a rally, a small rally. They might come through here and check the place out.

• 1:19:07Matt Farah?

  It sounds great. Love it.

• 1:19:08Speaker 01

Diesel swapped eighty series Land Cruiser. It sounded like a Cummins. It was the fucking raddest thing.

• 1:19:13Matt Farah?

Yeah, it did sound like a Cummins. It did sound like a Cummins, yeah. Um, okay. Fuck. We, Zach had pissed so bad right there. That was

• 1:19:21Speaker 01

Oh, that's usually me. He's getting old like us. Oh shit.

• 1:19:24Matt Farah?

  I know.

• 1:19:25Speaker 01

  Cut to that. Camera three.

• 1:19:29Matt Farah?

Cheers. Okay, wait. I need a rapid fire because we're gonna go to Patreon questions.

• 1:19:34Speaker 01

  Oh, sure, sure, sure.

• 1:19:35Matt Farah?

When Zach gets back. I need a rapid fire. We, I, I was trying to get your fucking fleet update from most of these shitbox.

• 1:19:42Speaker 01

Sorry, we started with the Mustang and

• 1:19:43Matt Farah?

Yeah, and then you did thirty-seven minutes on the Mustang. Segways. That's, that's the problem. So now we have to go speed round on everything else.

• 1:19:51Speaker 01

  Got it.

• 1:19:51Matt Farah?

  You have fucking thirty seconds.

• 1:19:54Speaker 01

  Mustang is a table.

• 1:19:55Matt Farah?

I should have worn a chronograph today.

• 1:19:56Speaker 01

Mustang is a table. Uh, Montero is getting some leaks fixed, uh.

• 1:20:00Matt Farah?

Pause, pause, because we're, we're gonna go, we're gonna go very legit.

• 1:20:03Speaker 01

  I was going.

• 1:20:03Matt Farah?

I'm gonna go sixty seconds. All right. Mercedes, go.

• 1:20:06Speaker 01

Mercedes actually has an engine in the engine bay. It's not bolted in. It is the five .3 Chevy motor.

• 1:20:13Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 1:20:14Speaker 01

It's like, we'll get to it soon.

• 1:20:15Matt Farah?

  You got it.

• 1:20:15Speaker 01

It has an engine. I still own the Mercedes.

• 1:20:16Matt Farah?

Okay, great. Next. Reset the clock. Next.

• 1:20:20Speaker 01

  Oh, I thought it was.

• 1:20:20Matt Farah?

  Speed round.

• 1:20:21Speaker 01

  I thought it was total.

• 1:20:22Matt Farah?

Oh, okay. Yeah, it's total. Go.

• 1:20:23Speaker 01

Um, the, uh, Montero, eh, I had the engine replaced, but it, I saw two leaks on the ground. It's leaking from the rear cam seal and he's fixing it. And he's fixing a few other things that I've never gotten fixed. So that's, it'll be back soon.

• 1:20:37Speaker 01

Uh, my wife's CX five is a hundred and eight thousand miles and if anyone wants to buy it, let me know, cause she's probably due for a new car.

• 1:20:43Matt Farah?

  Got it.

• 1:20:43Speaker 01

She doesn't want to buy one because car payments suck.

• 1:20:45Matt Farah?

Car payments do suck. Done? Great. Next.

• 1:20:48Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:20:49Matt Farah?

We have a lot of great questions on the Patreon. I want to get to those. It's not a po- no, no. It's, eh, we, we, I want to get a happy bounce here. We had some, we had some really good ones. And, uh, and so I wanted to get to some of those, cause I thought they were good conversation starters. Um, oh shit, that was my timer for the.

• 1:21:08Speaker 01

Old man alarm like Bill Murray on Hot Ones.

• 1:21:11Matt Farah?

I just, I saw that. I just watched that one. I just watched it on the elliptical yesterday. Um, okay, we're gonna, we, one, two, three, skip that. We're gonna go to, keep going. No, no, I want to, I wa- I have ones for, for Jeff. Okay, hang on. Um.

• 1:21:24Speaker 01

Fuck yeah, that's a good one.

• 1:21:25Matt Farah?

  Which one? Papa Gray?

• 1:21:26Speaker 01

  The hair one.

• 1:21:27Matt Farah?

The hair? Oh, you wanted that?

• 1:21:29Speaker 01

  Mine has.

• 1:21:29Matt Farah?

Mr. Nailhead. Okay, Mr. Nailhead says, remember the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror? Where Homer gets a transplant from a criminal and it comes alive? Where are you going?

• 1:21:39Speaker 02

  Are we comparing hair?

• 1:21:40Matt Farah?

What are you doing? Oh, okay.

• 1:21:41Speaker 01

Read the rest of the question.

• 1:21:42Speaker 02

  Frame by frame.

• 1:21:42Matt Farah?

  All right.

• 1:21:42Speaker 01

Read the rest of the frame.

• 1:21:43Matt Farah?

If Zach and Jeff's hair each came alive, which one is winning a fight?

• 1:21:47Speaker 02

  See the battles.

• 1:21:47Speaker 01

This is younger, but mine's grayer.

• 1:21:49Matt Farah?

Zach, no, Zach has actually tamed it today. Zach's normal hair looks like Bill Murray at the end of Kingpin.

• 1:21:57Speaker 01

  Oh, would it flop?

• 1:21:59Matt Farah?

It's not comb over, but it's like, it's wily as a motherfucker.

• 1:22:05Speaker 02

  I really needed that haircut.

• 1:22:06Matt Farah?

Okay Papa Gray is looking, is in the market for Salines.

• 1:22:10Speaker 01

  Who?

• 1:22:11Matt Farah?

  I have.

• 1:22:11Speaker 01

  What?

• 1:22:12Matt Farah?

An SM, oh no, sorry. I have an SN95 and S197.

• 1:22:16Speaker 02

  License plate ID, saline away.

• 1:22:18Matt Farah?

Saline on my radar. Thoughts and opinions on saline?

• 1:22:22Speaker 01

Uh, yes, was this question asked in 1992? Uh, I just haven't heard saline and is it Celine or saline?

• 1:22:30Speaker 02

  It's Detroit.

• 1:22:31Speaker 01

But that could be because I'm from New England.

• 1:22:34Matt Farah?

Either. He's not as culturally powerful as Porsche, so he can't dictate how people pronounce his name.

• 1:22:40Speaker 01

  Reimagined by Steve Celine.

• 1:22:42Matt Farah?

  I say, I say Celine.

• 1:22:43Speaker 01

  Okay, I say Celine.

• 1:22:44Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. Um, dude, I'm about this. I, I.

• 1:22:48Speaker 01

Cause I will need saline tomorrow.

• 1:22:50Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah. S A L I N E is saline. Um, I am extremely pro SN95 saline Mustang.

• 1:22:58Speaker 01

  Yeah, sure.

• 1:22:59Matt Farah?

I am all about them. The 351s, fucking love them. Uh, especially in, uh, not black or red. And I like them in different colors.

• 1:23:11Speaker 01

  And I, I, I'm not a white car advocate.

• 1:23:13Matt Farah?

  Hmm, but triple white dude.

• 1:23:15Speaker 01

  Celine had some good whites.

• 1:23:16Matt Farah?

If you're gonna go triple white, you gotta do it.

• 1:23:18Speaker 01

And I'm more of a Fox body guy over an SN95 and one of my, my very closest friends rebuilt over COVID. Uh, a very, I'm not a black car guy, but he built a black Fox body with an SN95 interior and it fucking works. And he never drives it because he's that guy. I know.

• 1:23:36Matt Farah?

It's a shame. I miss my Fox body, not enough to buy it back. Uh, but, but it.

• 1:23:42Speaker 01

Was that the first one you started doing funky interiors?

• 1:23:44Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 1:23:44Speaker 01

Yeah, that was cool. I liked it.

• 1:23:45Matt Farah?

I am gonna try to continue the trend. Zach's Tartans are gonna be fun. My Manks is, is gonna be really rad.

• 1:23:53Speaker 01

  You're doing a Manks?

• 1:23:54Matt Farah?

  Huh?

• 1:23:54Speaker 01

  You're doing a Manks?

• 1:23:55Matt Farah?

  You didn't know that?

• 1:23:56Speaker 01

I didn't know you were doing one, no. I know you've driven them.

• 1:23:59Matt Farah?

No, no, no. I bought one.

• 1:24:00Speaker 01

  I didn't know that.

• 1:24:01Matt Farah?

  It's a radial.

• 1:24:02Speaker 01

  You bought a radial?

• 1:24:03Matt Farah?

  I bought a radial.

• 1:24:04Speaker 01

Oh, you, is it, is it a nine cylinder?

• 1:24:06Matt Farah?

  Three cylinder.

• 1:24:07Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:24:07Matt Farah?

They're all three. Three cylinders, the radios.

• 1:24:09Speaker 01

Why did I think it did a nine cylinder?

• 1:24:10Matt Farah?

  I don't know.

• 1:24:11Speaker 02

  That's the one for planes.

• 1:24:12Matt Farah?

The Lycoming radial is a nine cylinder.

• 1:24:14Speaker 01

That's what I thought was in it.

• 1:24:15Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:24:15Speaker 01

  That's what I thought.

• 1:24:16Speaker 02

  This huge thing.

• 1:24:17Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:24:18Speaker 01

Cause there were, years ago, there was a Lemons team that did a nine cylinder.

• 1:24:21Matt Farah?

Yeah, no, this is a, this is an engine company in Australia that built a small, compact, lightweight radial.

• 1:24:29Speaker 01

  Smarter rotary.

• 1:24:30Matt Farah?

It's a radial. No, it's a true radial, three cylinder, true radial. It uses L, GM LS rods, pistons, internals, valve train, things like that.

• 1:24:39Speaker 01

It's fucking amazing. I had no idea. It's amazing.

• 1:24:41Matt Farah?

Yeah, I'm super stoked. You can drive it when it comes in.

• 1:24:43Speaker 01

  Okay, awesome.

• 1:24:44Matt Farah?

  Um, but.

• 1:24:45Speaker 01

My father-in-law has a buggy that's not a Manks, but everybody thinks it's a Manks. It's one of those random east coast kid car ones. So, and he's always like, I, I never, I come here and never see a Manks. So maybe we'll plan the next time he's out here.

• 1:24:57Matt Farah?

But you know that like, like Myers Manks is really cool in that they accept Manks-like buggies into the club, even if they're not Manks' brand.

• 1:25:05Speaker 01

  This is a wild.

• 1:25:06Matt Farah?

They're not, um, they're not pretentious like that at all.

• 1:25:09Speaker 01

I've been trying to get my hands on a press car one too.

• 1:25:11Matt Farah?

  They have them.

• 1:25:12Speaker 01

Uh, if Mike Rice is still there, he's, he's working on it for me, but I don't know if he's.

• 1:25:15Matt Farah?

I can, I will make the arrangements. Don't worry about it.

• 1:25:18Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 1:25:18Matt Farah?

Though, you wanna drive the radial?

• 1:25:19Speaker 01

  I do.

• 1:25:20Matt Farah?

They have, that's what they, the one they have, their development car.

• 1:25:22Speaker 01

Yeah. Cause I've heard they've kind of like, not to be rude, but I've heard maybe they've lost the plot on the EV.

• 1:25:29Matt Farah?

I don't think that's true at all. What, no. What do you mean, lost the plot?

• 1:25:33Speaker 01

Not lost the plot, but they just, they promised it, they've taken money, and they haven't delivered one.

• 1:25:40Matt Farah?

Oh, they had to build a factory.

• 1:25:42Speaker 01

  Ew.

• 1:25:42Matt Farah?

The, those aren't handmade. That's a fact, those are gonna be factory-built.

• 1:25:46Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:25:46Matt Farah?

Vehicles. Um, I, I, I understand, actually, I had two people who put deposits on the Mags EV.

• 1:25:52Speaker 01

  Cause it sounds brilliant.

• 1:25:53Matt Farah?

And call me and go, hey, man, can you connect me with them? Cause like, I don't know what's going on. And I went, and it's like, they're, they're, they're building, like, they're engineering, it's a, that's a new vehicle.

• 1:26:04Speaker 01

It's not a, it's not a Radford wink, wink situation.

• 1:26:07Matt Farah?

No, and it's not based on a Volkswagen floor pan. It's a whole new everything. It's all new. And so they're building an infrastructure for itself.

• 1:26:14Speaker 01

The guy's not just off flying his rad fucking plane.

• 1:26:16Matt Farah?

Dude, I can't, I can't like personally vouch for like their financials or any of that bullshit, but like.

• 1:26:21Speaker 01

But the guy who was involved with the company, his, his financials are good.

• 1:26:24Matt Farah?

Oh, Philip? Yeah, Philip's alright. Yeah. Philip's alright. No, he's not, but, but like. It's happening. It's just a huge project.

• 1:26:34Speaker 01

  Yeah, building a factory is.

• 1:26:35Matt Farah?

Yeah, and in the meantime, what they call the classic division, which is where the traditional Manx's and the radial Manx's are being built in the original spot in Costa Mesa.

• 1:26:45Speaker 01

  That's in Costa Mesa?

• 1:26:46Matt Farah?

  It's in Costa Mesa.

• 1:26:47Speaker 01

  Fuck.

• 1:26:48Matt Farah?

Um, and and and that's a difference. So that's ongoing. Yeah, you should go.

• 1:26:53Speaker 01

  Fuck.

• 1:26:54Matt Farah?

  Yeah, you should go.

• 1:26:54Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 1:26:55Matt Farah?

The radial's insane. It's so fucking cool.

• 1:26:57Speaker 01

  It's just real torquey?

• 1:26:59Matt Farah?

It's a beautifully smooth power band that it sounds like an LS3 Corvette when it idles.

• 1:27:05Speaker 01

  Really?

• 1:27:05Matt Farah?

And then it sounds like a Cessna at high RPM.

• 1:27:08Speaker 01

  That's amazing.

• 1:27:09Matt Farah?

  It's nutty. It's really neat.

• 1:27:10Speaker 01

I've never driven a radial engine powered vehicle.

• 1:27:12Matt Farah?

I know, I know. I fell in love with it instantly. I fell in love with it the second I saw it. I was like, this is the fucking craziest shit ever. And the one we built is so cool. It's beautiful. I've been fucking fucking poking Freeman Thomas like crazy to get him to use mine as a display car for the Quail this year. I really just like want that. I'm so selfish. I want to have a fucking car. If you're a car guy.

• 1:27:39Speaker 01

No, I get it. I get it.

• 1:27:40Matt Farah?

You know, it wa- it's like, it's not bucket list, but it's like, it's on the list. Just display a car.

• 1:27:46Speaker 01

What? I've never been to Car Week.

• 1:27:49Matt Farah?

  How is that possible?

• 1:27:50Speaker 01

What? I was even invited this past year, uh.

• 1:27:53Matt Farah?

  Are you fucking crazy?

• 1:27:55Speaker 01

I've never been to Car Week.

• 1:27:57Matt Farah?

  Why? How?

• 1:27:58Speaker 02

You've done a, cause you've done a lot of things.

• 1:28:00Matt Farah?

  How is that?

• 1:28:01Speaker 01

This is gonna be the dumbest reason. This is gonna be the dumbest reason. Uh, my closest friends.

• 1:28:08Speaker 02

  Careful for that spill.

• 1:28:09Speaker 01

I've known since twelve. Yeah, don't knock over the water.

• 1:28:11Matt Farah?

It's empty, but thank you. Yeah.

• 1:28:13Speaker 01

The, uh, my closest friends since I've known since 12th grade, since I moved back to Massachusetts and formed my identity as a asshole Celtics fan. Um.

• 1:28:24Speaker 01

Are one of my best friends, he's my best friend, he owns a house in New Hampshire are.

• 1:28:29Matt Farah?

  Should I start the timer?

• 1:28:30Speaker 01

We have a weekend, yeah, seriously, we have a weekend. It's our fantasy football draft every year.

• 1:28:36Matt Farah?

  Oh dude, listen.

• 1:28:39Speaker 01

But it's my closest friends, they're my closest friends.

• 1:28:43Matt Farah?

  The disappointment.

• 1:28:43Speaker 01

  They're my guys.

• 1:28:44Matt Farah?

  I get it. I understand.

• 1:28:46Speaker 01

And it's my favorite weekend of the year.

• 1:28:47Matt Farah?

Oh, alright. I understand, how many years have you done this?

• 1:28:50Speaker 01

  That?

• 1:28:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:52Speaker 01

  Uh, a lot.

• 1:28:53Matt Farah?

  Alright, and who?

• 1:28:55Speaker 01

  I mean, there's mushrooms.

• 1:28:56Matt Farah?

  Who? That chooses the date?

• 1:29:00Speaker 01

That's more fun than Car Week. Uh, I could push the date, I just, I don't know, Car Week feels.

• 1:29:05Matt Farah?

  Never!

• 1:29:07Speaker 01

I feel like, I wanna go to Car Week once, I do wanna go once.

• 1:29:09Matt Farah?

That's fucking cra- if you said, are you, look, if you said, if you said I've been five, six, seven, 10, 12 times. I'm jaded, I'm over it.

• 1:29:17Speaker 01

I feel like I only care about the Historics anyway, I feel like I only care about the modern Historics.

• 1:29:20Matt Farah?

  That's bullshit, it's not, it's not bullshit, that's bullshit.

• 1:29:23Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:29:24Matt Farah?

See, it's not about the events that require tickets.

• 1:29:28Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:29:28Matt Farah?

It's about hanging with your friends in fun fucking, we're now people.

• 1:29:34Speaker 01

  I wanna go.

• 1:29:35Matt Farah?

  We know the top people.

• 1:29:37Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's true.

• 1:29:39Matt Farah?

We can, we can optimize our Car Week experience so that it's awesome. It's not about money, it's about access and we have it. You are fucking ser-

• 1:29:50Speaker 01

  That's valid.

• 1:29:51Matt Farah?

But I'm not, and I'm not saying like, it's not like, it's not like you're like, oh, I go every year, but I missed last year and I'm like beating you up.

• 1:29:56Speaker 01

  No, I've never, ever been.

• 1:29:57Matt Farah?

  That's crazy.

• 1:29:59Speaker 01

I've played the course once, before I was in the industry.

• 1:30:02Matt Farah?

  That is-

• 1:30:02Speaker 01

  What?

• 1:30:03Matt Farah?

The idea that you're an automotive journalist, you've never been to the concourse and you've played the golf course.

• 1:30:08Speaker 01

Wow, I played, I played and stayed at Spanish Bay when I was a mortgage broker, I got into the mortgage industry in 2008.

• 1:30:15Matt Farah?

Yeah, buddy. That one round of golf was so sick and then the company collapsed.

• 1:30:21Speaker 01

Yeah, oh dude, I was the worst mortgage, I was the worst loan originator because I was honest.

• 1:30:26Matt Farah?

  That's crazy, I, I'm-

• 1:30:28Speaker 01

I've never been to Car, I got invited by Acura last year, they're like, you can even bring your wife, we'll have shuttles. It was a gorgeous hotel, and I'm like, and I, oh, and I couldn't go last year because the timing lined up, I was going off-roading with Toyota in Colorado. And I'm like, I'm going off-roading.

• 1:30:43Matt Farah?

  Dude, look.

• 1:30:44Speaker 01

  12,000 feet.

• 1:30:45Matt Farah?

You got, how do you not go? Once? Once.

• 1:30:49Speaker 01

That was actually, last year was the first year I've ever been invited. And I'm not going on my own.

• 1:30:54Matt Farah?

  That's also extremely weird.

• 1:30:56Speaker 02

  I agree with that.

• 1:30:56Speaker 01

I'm not going on my own dime.

• 1:30:57Matt Farah?

No, no, nor should you, but that's also extremely weird.

• 1:30:59Speaker 01

I agree. Automakers, I agree. I, yeah, I, eh, Hootiverse is small.

• 1:31:04Matt Farah?

  No, no, here's why.

• 1:31:05Speaker 02

But you work like four other channels.

• 1:31:06Matt Farah?

I'm gonna tell you why. I'm gonna tell you why. The only, I've only been invited. Excuse me, I'm gonna rephrase that, I've never been invited. I've requested to be invited.

• 1:31:18Speaker 01

  Oh shit, okay.

• 1:31:19Matt Farah?

And about half of those have resulted in a real invite.

• 1:31:24Speaker 01

Yeah, cuz they're like, oh, you wanna go?

• 1:31:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:31:27Speaker 01

  Normally, yeah.

• 1:31:27Matt Farah?

So like, but like, it's never been, hey Matt, come. It's been, hey, excuse me, uh, Bentley folks.

• 1:31:36Speaker 01

  Are you hosting?

• 1:31:36Matt Farah?

Do you got, what do you guys, do you guys have plans?

• 1:31:38Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:31:38Matt Farah?

What are you doing? So, but like, it's crazy that you haven't, have you, that you haven't gone.

• 1:31:44Speaker 01

  I've never been.

• 1:31:45Matt Farah?

  That's so.

• 1:31:47Speaker 01

And I gave up golf years ago.

• 1:31:48Matt Farah?

  Wild to me, wow.

• 1:31:51Speaker 01

Cuz fuck golf. Cars are way cooler.

• 1:31:54Matt Farah?

  Golf's fun.

• 1:31:54Speaker 01

Yeah, you know what's more fun? You know what's more fun? Mountain biking.

• 1:31:57Matt Farah?

  These are not mutually exclusive.

• 1:31:58Speaker 02

Yeah, but you don't have to repair your golf clubs and then they stop working and they fix them in the garage for a week.

• 1:32:01Speaker 01

I, when I left, so, when we moved out of Huntington Beach, cuz we had a child and we wanted to be able to buy, so we had to leave the coast. I literally threw my clubs in the trash and and they were like they were, they were, uh, blades, I played blades.

• 1:32:18Matt Farah?

  What?

• 1:32:18Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, so they were hard to hit.

• 1:32:20Speaker 02

I don't know what that is.

• 1:32:21Matt Farah?

It's basically like, you have the, you have to be a tour pro. Most, most golf.

• 1:32:27Speaker 02

Well, he's playing, it's whatever, Sand Hill, whatever it's called.

• 1:32:30Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, if you're like the best golfer, if you're like the best golfer ever.

• 1:32:35Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:32:35Matt Farah?

  And you're like, regular clubs.

• 1:32:37Speaker 01

No, modern golfers don't play blades.

• 1:32:39Matt Farah?

  Nobody plays blades.

• 1:32:39Speaker 02

  What'd they do back then?

• 1:32:40Matt Farah?

Regular gol, regular golfers play a club that has a weight around the perimeter.

• 1:32:45Speaker 01

  A cavity bag.

• 1:32:46Matt Farah?

With a hollowed out center, which is a forgiving, like a drum, it's a forgiving. Blade is an even amount of weight across to that.

• 1:32:53Speaker 02

  Oh, right, solid iron.

• 1:32:54Matt Farah?

  Yeah, okay.

• 1:32:55Speaker 01

It's like I showed up to Dodger Stadium with the fucking.

• 1:32:58Speaker 02

Bad analogy is not gonna work for me.

• 1:32:59Speaker 01

That got struck down from the lightning tree.

• 1:33:01Matt Farah?

I don't know why, is that a, that, that doesn't help him.

• 1:33:05Speaker 02

  I don't watch baseball.

• 1:33:06Speaker 01

  You don't do any sports?

• 1:33:07Speaker 02

I know the movie. I played sports until I was 12 and then I started mountain biking and skateboarding.

• 1:33:09Speaker 01

But you're not a sports ball guy, right?

• 1:33:11Speaker 02

  No, I'm not.

• 1:33:12Matt Farah?

  But like.

• 1:33:12Speaker 01

  Good.

• 1:33:12Matt Farah?

  No, if you're not like.

• 1:33:13Speaker 02

  You're a sports ball guy.

• 1:33:14Speaker 01

No, no, no. I hate when car people say sports ball, because I love sports.

• 1:33:18Speaker 02

Oh, you mean using the phrase?

• 1:33:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:33:20Speaker 02

  Oh, I've definitely done that.

• 1:33:21Speaker 01

  Sports ball.

• 1:33:21Speaker 02

But I get it. Like, I liked it for a while and I don't now. That's fine.

• 1:33:24Matt Farah?

You have to be, the point is you have to be so amazing at golf.

• 1:33:27Speaker 02

  I get it, right.

• 1:33:27Matt Farah?

To decide that I'm gonna go out and buy blades.

• 1:33:30Speaker 01

These clubs can hurt your hands if you hit the wrong.

• 1:33:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:33:33Speaker 01

And they did. I shot a.

• 1:33:35Matt Farah?

My dad, my dad bought them in his peak.

• 1:33:37Speaker 01

  112.

• 1:33:38Matt Farah?

  With blades?

• 1:33:39Speaker 01

  In blades.

• 1:33:40Matt Farah?

  With blades?

• 1:33:42Speaker 01

I feel like that's not bad.

• 1:33:43Speaker 02

  It's like you're running a three-minute butt-wheeler.

• 1:33:45Speaker 01

I feel like that's not bad.

• 1:33:46Speaker 02

  GT3 RS.

• 1:33:48Matt Farah?

He shot a 112 with blades?

• 1:33:50Speaker 01

  It's not bad.

• 1:33:51Matt Farah?

Dude, that is like being like, I took a Radical to the Nurburgring and ran a 1340.

• 1:33:58Speaker 01

No, that's like an eight. That's like an eight. It's like an eight. For the average guy in a Radical, for the average guy in a Radical. You have to bring it to reality.

• 1:34:06Matt Farah?

  Bro.

• 1:34:08Speaker 01

Put the average guy in a GT3 RS, different story. Put the average guy in Blades, different story. You gotta fucking actualize it.

• 1:34:15Speaker 02

You have seen Monterey in the strangest ways because you played one of the most prestigious golf courses in the country using some of the most prestigious clubs at the time. You did that badly.

• 1:34:24Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:34:25Speaker 02

And then when you got into the job of cars and there's a car week, you never went back.

• 1:34:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:30Speaker 01

Can, can we ever, have we ever told the story of what we wanted to do for Pebble? I think Thad also wanted.

• 1:34:36Matt Farah?

You mean storming the beach, like Normandy? Yeah, yeah, we have. No, we have. We've definitely told the story of storming the beach like Normandy.

• 1:34:42Speaker 02

  We should do that.

• 1:34:43Speaker 01

  We should do that.

• 1:34:44Matt Farah?

I still think you should do it.

• 1:34:45Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:34:45Matt Farah?

It only works, it only works if you have tickets.

• 1:34:49Speaker 02

  Yes. Those will get arrested.

• 1:34:51Matt Farah?

Because otherwise you get arrested. Like, you have to, if you.

• 1:34:54Speaker 01

I would, I would frame that ticket. I would frame that arrest.

• 1:34:57Speaker 02

  Actor be listed.

• 1:34:58Speaker 01

  Hold on.

• 1:34:58Matt Farah?

You also need a photographer. You also need a photographer to enter the normal way.

• 1:35:03Speaker 02

Does actor off the record have a maritime legal?

• 1:35:05Speaker 01

By the way, I've used Off the Record successfully many times.

• 1:35:08Matt Farah?

  Me too.

• 1:35:09Speaker 01

  I love, and I'm.

• 1:35:11Matt Farah?

People think that's just an advertiser. They don't fuck around.

• 1:35:14Speaker 01

Johnny does, because he got fucked and his guys sucked.

• 1:35:17Matt Farah?

  Oh, no, really?

• 1:35:18Speaker 01

Ask Johnny his story on Off the Record. I have not had that experience and I've used it three times.

• 1:35:21Matt Farah?

That's not been mine. Mine's been primo.

• 1:35:24Speaker 01

  Primo.

• 1:35:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Fuck.

• 1:35:27Speaker 01

About to use it on this Delica on the way.

• 1:35:32Matt Farah?

Alright, Matt's BLE signal. Oh, that's a good one. I, I don't even know what that is, but like, we had a, I had a, never mind. If I recall correctly, oh, it was random that we were just talking about this. Hannah picked, Hannah picked a hot dog shift knob for the Manx.

• 1:35:47Speaker 01

  Which they don't get why.

• 1:35:48Matt Farah?

  We specced the car together.

• 1:35:49Speaker 01

  Which they don't get why.

• 1:35:51Matt Farah?

  No, they get it.

• 1:35:51Speaker 01

  Oh, okay.

• 1:35:52Matt Farah?

No, they get, we talking about the hot dogs a lot. Uh, what knob would I have picked if Hannah didn't have a preference? This is a great one. Is there a shift knob I dream of? I mean, for me, it's, it's about that bowling ball from Kingpin. So basically like, as, as close to that as you could get, I would do.

• 1:36:11Speaker 01

  Cause you're thinking like fun.

• 1:36:13Matt Farah?

Dude, so, so the hot dog shift knob, it's not, it's not shaped like a hot dog. It's a little mini, tiny hot dog toy.

• 1:36:21Speaker 01

  Like a Jimmy D.

• 1:36:22Matt Farah?

That's cast inside of a lucite, two inch lucite knob.

• 1:36:26Speaker 01

  Guy who does that?

• 1:36:27Matt Farah?

No, there's a person who works at Manx who makes them.

• 1:36:30Speaker 01

Oh, there's a guy on Instagram.

• 1:36:31Matt Farah?

  Manx hand makes these things.

• 1:36:33Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:36:34Matt Farah?

So, no, that one looks like a dildo. That's like a JDM one. This is a round, it's a sphere. It's a small sphere. That one, that one you would definitely insert into a Russian's butt. I'm just saying, I've seen it.

• 1:36:47Speaker 01

  Ships from California.

• 1:36:47Matt Farah?

I've seen it. I know. Deadly red roses, six inch shift knob. Yeah, we're not fucking with that, dude.

• 1:36:53Speaker 01

You still need to give me the inches, bro.

• 1:36:54Matt Farah?

It's written in the description on Etsy, dude.

• 1:36:57Speaker 01

The shift knob has a girth of.

• 1:36:59Matt Farah?

That's really funny. It's never occurred to me to find a shift knob on Etsy, but here we are. Here we are on Etsy.

• 1:37:09Matt Farah?

Okay, um, Auto Bon Jovi, great username. Currently planning a father-son trip to the Nürburgring. Uh, besides the ring itself, is there anything you have to have enjoyed in the region? That we should check out? Um, you should go to the Piston Plaza.

• 1:37:25Speaker 01

What I was gonna say, yep.

• 1:37:26Matt Farah?

  Eat steak on a stone.

• 1:37:28Speaker 01

  Favorite.

• 1:37:29Matt Farah?

Do not put pepper on the stone.

• 1:37:30Speaker 01

My favorite Piston Plaza story is the first time I was ever there, I saw Rob Holland, who's an amazing race car driver. I walked up, I was like, hey, man.

• 1:37:39Speaker 01

Um, Bill Caswell came up and told me to say hello to you. He's like, did he tell you to look for the only black guy? And I started laughing. He goes, yes, that's literally what he said.

• 1:37:47Matt Farah?

Rob Holland is a fucking G.

• 1:37:50Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:37:51Matt Farah?

Shout out to him. We had a great, great time. Yes.

• 1:37:55Speaker 01

  Super awesome guy.

• 1:37:56Matt Farah?

And he's always given me very good pointers.

• 1:37:59Speaker 01

  This facial hair.

• 1:38:00Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:38:00Speaker 01

  It's time.

• 1:38:01Matt Farah?

Plethora of piñatas says, my wife is a terrible driver. She has no situational awareness at all. She can drive, quote, "Fine, but, uh, there's an advanced driver training course that can put her in a safe space to learn where the edges of her car are without curbing her wheels or knocking it. Oh, oh, is there an advanced?

• 1:38:24Speaker 01

  No, he's asking, yeah.

• 1:38:25Matt Farah?

No, dude, go order four cones on Amazon, bro. Order some cones.

• 1:38:30Speaker 02

No, no, no, no. I, I would.

• 1:38:33Matt Farah?

  What?

• 1:38:34Speaker 02

Because if he says, "Hey babe, I'm gonna buy some cones so you can practice," knowing that's an argument immediately. But if you say, "I'd like to do a driver's school," would you like to do it with me?

• 1:38:44Speaker 01

For you to recognize this early as a married man?

• 1:38:46Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:38:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah, but like parking school?

• 1:38:48Speaker 02

Nah, it's not gonna exist, but, but in driving school, like, they're trying to get you in the apex. You need to know where the edges of your car are.

• 1:38:54Speaker 01

Could you send her to an actual driving school and maybe that would awaken the most basic things like send her to fucking Radford or Skip Barber? Like the tiniest level?

• 1:39:02Matt Farah?

They have the ones that are, uh, focused for like teenagers.

• 1:39:06Speaker 02

  Team driving.

• 1:39:06Matt Farah?

That are like the car control joints?

• 1:39:09Speaker 02

That might be insulting also, but you could try.

• 1:39:11Matt Farah?

  Well, it's like an intro.

• 1:39:12Speaker 01

If you pitch it ass, honey, we're gonna take a vacation to Monterey and they have an AMG driving school. We're doing level one. And then the situational awareness might be like, "Oh, look down into the turn."

• 1:39:23Speaker 02

  Right.

• 1:39:23Speaker 01

Like, just like little things like that. Maybe. And that's you get a vacation out of it and like, I appreciate you. I, I also understand the, the patience thing. I get it.

• 1:39:32Matt Farah?

Yeah. Uh, Jeremiah Dicklesworth III, uh, went to Moda Miami, saw a Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2 and fell in love. Have we driven one? And what's it like? Um, and, uh, you know what's funny is I, I was, I went to Miami. The same week as Moda, but I went on a, a family vacation that weekend in the Keys. So Johnny Lieberman sat next to me on my flight to Miami. And Magnus.

• 1:40:03Speaker 01

He had to go to work.

• 1:40:03Matt Farah?

And, uh, and Magnus and Hannah and, um.

• 1:40:08Speaker 01

Hey, quiet down back there, Coach.

• 1:40:09Matt Farah?

And another automotive journalist were on my flight home and they were all like, oh yeah, Moda. And I was like, I was at Key Largo, I don't know.

• 1:40:16Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, fuck yeah. Uh, that's, that's great.

• 1:40:18Matt Farah?

It was alright. Uh, Moda looks great, actually. Moda did look fun. It looked nice. I, I, I probably would like to go. Maybe Tamarin wants to have us down there next year or something. But, um, uh, launch your Delta Integrale, really neat car.

• 1:40:31Speaker 01

I've heard though, the, so if you are asking this question in the United States, Mr. Dicklesworth the third. Um, I've heard parts and that shit is just a nightmare. Uh, I have a friend who doesn't have an Evo two, but he has an Integrale up in Oregon, which is where you'd think they'd be like stockpiling that shit. And it's, it's a bit of a nightmare for him to keep that thing like roadworthy and entertaining and happy. Uh, and I think even Ron Zerres, Ron Zerres is dealing with his shit out here. That's the problem. The parts come from far away and they're few and, and so if you, you have to buy the cleanest one. And the people selling you them are telling you that the cleanest one, that is the raddiest fucking piece of shit you ever bought.

• 1:41:11Matt Farah?

I mean, it's, it's, the problem with Italian stuff that isn't Ferraris. Is it basically costs as much to run as a fucking Ferrari?

• 1:41:20Speaker 01

You might, where's your engine right now?

• 1:41:22Matt Farah?

You might, in Italy, you might as well buy a Ferrari. I, I had to send the wire today. I just sent them so much money.

• 1:41:29Speaker 01

  Yeah, I won't even ask.

• 1:41:30Matt Farah?

I just sent them, I just sent them.

• 1:41:32Speaker 01

You just, you, you hit the sand and you're just here like music from the Godfather playing, like what the fuck?

• 1:41:36Matt Farah?

But at least they sent photos of work happening. So it's like, no, it's alright. Like work is, work is happening. I'm, I'm confident.

• 1:41:43Speaker 01

But even like when it's done, you're like, eh, by the way, to ship the engine back.

• 1:41:47Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:41:48Speaker 01

  It's forty-five thousand dollars.

• 1:41:50Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's crazy dude. Yeah, it's all crazy, but like.

• 1:41:53Speaker 01

Give us a delicat trade or we hold this engine hostage.

• 1:41:56Matt Farah?

That's the problem with, uh, with, with Deltas is they, they cost as much as Ferrari to run.

• 1:42:01Speaker 01

Yeah, exactly. So you think you're buying the cheaper Italian car and you are absolutely not.

• 1:42:05Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:42:06Speaker 01

If you can find a clean one, rad as fuck, go for it.

• 1:42:09Matt Farah?

What is the cheapest cool Italian car to run that you can think of?

• 1:42:16Speaker 01

What's the lease on a 500E right now?

• 1:42:17Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:42:18Matt Farah?

  Yeah, well, no, no, no.

• 1:42:20Speaker 01

  I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm joking.

• 1:42:22Matt Farah?

  It's gotta be pre 2000.

• 1:42:23Speaker 01

  Of course.

• 1:42:24Matt Farah?

  Pre 2000, what's the cheapest?

• 1:42:25Speaker 01

  Not motorcycle.

• 1:42:27Matt Farah?

Italian car you could run? Pre 2000.

• 1:42:31Speaker 02

I think it'd still be some 500, like Fiat 500.

• 1:42:33Speaker 01

Nah, it's gotta be some old, like, fucking Alpha.

• 1:42:36Speaker 02

  Alpha Spider thing?

• 1:42:38Speaker 01

  Yeah, oh.

• 1:42:39Matt Farah?

Or like a 164 or some shit.

• 1:42:42Speaker 01

You know, like, what is a, what is a, um, Dave and Sarah, what do they have?

• 1:42:47Matt Farah?

That doesn't seem easy. That seems like, that seems like work, yeah, that, that Fovia seems tough.

• 1:42:52Speaker 01

  Cause those are gorgeous cars.

• 1:42:54Matt Farah?

Like, shit. I mean, well, pre 2000, dude, like, a Ferrari 348.

• 1:43:00Speaker 01

  Graduate car.

• 1:43:01Matt Farah?

I mean, even a 328 is like pretty reliable, actually. It really is.

• 1:43:08Speaker 01

I once drove, I've, I, I drove a 308 with no power steering once and it was like the worst driving experience ever.

• 1:43:15Matt Farah?

308s don't have power steering. They shouldn't have, 308s shouldn't have power steering.

• 1:43:18Speaker 01

Then it sucked, I hated it.

• 1:43:20Speaker 02

Which car did the Busso come in, the Alpha?

• 1:43:22Matt Farah?

  The what, the Busso?

• 1:43:23Speaker 02

  The Busso.

• 1:43:24Matt Farah?

Yeah, the 164 and the, and the Milano.

• 1:43:27Speaker 02

  The 155?

• 1:43:28Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:43:29Speaker 01

Oh, the Milano's interesting, that's interesting.

• 1:43:31Matt Farah?

  Shit, that's a, that's a very tough one.

• 1:43:34Speaker 01

I wonder what you could like find in Mexico and bring up that's like old but not that old, you know?

• 1:43:39Matt Farah?

  Shit, from Mexico?

• 1:43:41Speaker 01

Or Canada, cause they, what are they, 15 years instead of ours?

• 1:43:45Speaker 02

I don't think any of them will be cheap.

• 1:43:47Matt Farah?

That's really, there is no, it's gotta be, it's like, the world's greatest 308 GT Ford Dino is like 65 grand and that's probably pretty straightforward.

• 1:44:00Speaker 02

I wonder if a 348 is the cheapest to run, not to buy.

• 1:44:04Matt Farah?

An early, an early 90, an early 90s.

• 1:44:07Speaker 01

  Anything can't be that cheap.

• 1:44:08Matt Farah?

  None of them are, dude.

• 1:44:09Speaker 02

I'm trying to think of maintenance, not entry cost.

• 1:44:11Speaker 01

You gotta get away from those brands, it's gotta be something Alpha, it's gotta be something from them.

• 1:44:16Speaker 02

  Old Giulia.

• 1:44:17Matt Farah?

You could probably run like an old ass Giulia, like a 70s Giulia is about as cheap as an Italian.

• 1:44:23Speaker 01

The funny thing is, like, either way, you pull it in, you're like, oh, I got this baby.

• 1:44:28Matt Farah?

Or like if you could rent yourself like a carbureted GTV is probably pretty straightforward.

• 1:44:33Speaker 02

I would love to have one of those. I think they're probably expensive to buy because people love them because they're pretty.

• 1:44:37Speaker 01

What is, uh, Matt from, uh, formerly Ken's number two, um, in New York?

• 1:44:44Speaker 01

  MVTT on Instagram.

• 1:44:46Matt Farah?

  Johnson?

• 1:44:47Speaker 01

No, uh, fuck, he was Ken's number two for a while. He is the sickest alpha right now in New York City, but it probably wasn't cheap.

• 1:44:53Matt Farah?

  I don't know.

• 1:44:54Speaker 01

  Nevermind, sorry.

• 1:44:55Matt Farah?

The sickest of anything is probably not cheap. Uh, I don't know whether I'm the boxer or the bag. Love ya. That's great. Uh, I said that the Honda N600-

• 1:45:04Speaker 01

  I can't understand these lyrics.

• 1:45:06Matt Farah?

Yeah, with the VFR engine was one of the all-time great one takes. It was. If I can shoehorn a CBR 1000RR engine into my Honda Beat, would that be similar results? I, I, I would say yes. I talked to Kamisa about this. He loved the sound of his little three-cylinder Honda Beat engine so much.

• 1:45:27Speaker 01

  I like three cylinders.

• 1:45:27Matt Farah?

Yeah, but a bike motor, like, I would go full Busa. I wouldn't, you know, if you could. But the problem with the N600 was no reverse.

• 1:45:36Speaker 01

Probably gonna be, yeah, well, for most of them. Yeah, yeah, um.

• 1:45:40Matt Farah?

  I guess some bikes-

• 1:45:40Speaker 01

I'm just still loving the name, dude.

• 1:45:43Speaker 02

  We got some good names.

• 1:45:43Matt Farah?

There's some modern motorcycles that have reverse, right?

• 1:45:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:45:47Matt Farah?

Is the BMW K1600 have reverse?

• 1:45:49Speaker 01

  Oh, I don't know. I'm not a bike guy.

• 1:45:50Matt Farah?

If it does, I'd put the BMW one, 1.6 liter in line six with the gearbox and reverse in the back of a Beat.

• 1:45:58Speaker 02

But now you could also just put a little electric motor that like, electric reverse, which is-

• 1:46:02Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:46:03Speaker 01

What's the smallest fucking EcoBoost? Is there a sub-two-liter EcoBoost or no?

• 1:46:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah, but-

• 1:46:08Speaker 01

But what was the, that three liter, no, that three-cylinder Fiesta, which is not an EcoBoost.

• 1:46:11Matt Farah?

Yeah, but the problem is the Morgan, the Morgan Super 3 has the one liter.

• 1:46:17Speaker 01

Who, they wouldn't let me borrow one-

• 1:46:19Matt Farah?

  And it sucks.

• 1:46:19Speaker 01

Because they require motorcycle licenses and they never did.

• 1:46:22Matt Farah?

It sucks. Yeah, they had to get all official.

• 1:46:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:46:26Matt Farah?

  What you-

• 1:46:26Speaker 01

The old PR guy did it.

• 1:46:27Matt Farah?

No, what you want is a proper motorcycle engine. You don't want a crappy economy car engine.

• 1:46:32Speaker 02

Yeah, that's not exciting. I want a V-twin and that. Yeah.

• 1:46:35Matt Farah?

  Not the V-twin, the N600 is a high-revving three-cylinder.

• 1:46:37Speaker 01

No, but I mean, I was thinking old Morgan.

• 1:46:39Matt Farah?

  Oh, and a Morgan, yay.

• 1:46:40Speaker 02

  I would do a V-twin in a car, too.

• 1:46:41Matt Farah?

Uh, we're gonna need more Advil. Jeff, what E-mountain bike are you riding?

• 1:46:46Speaker 01

I'm in a Marin, because I got a really good deal on it. I'm in the latest Marin with the Bosch. I sold my Trek Analog. I miss it because they are so light. No, no Trail Beef where I am down in South OC. Um, though I do feel bad every time I pass them on the climbs, and I do not feel bad when I pass the roadies on the road climb because fuck Lyra. No, I'm in the Marin, the Bosch Marin, and I'm very happy. I've swapped on the, uh, the Fox Factory, so it's a little plush. It's got the coil on the back, got an SDQ seat, stoked on it, happy.

• 1:47:17Matt Farah?

Cool. Frozen Dingleberry Metallic, how hard is the life of a press car? Have either of you crashed one? I crashed one.

• 1:47:25Speaker 01

  Have you?

• 1:47:26Matt Farah?

Yeah. Long time ago. Twelve years ago.

• 1:47:29Speaker 01

  Legit?

• 1:47:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:47:30Speaker 01

  Lost it?

• 1:47:32Matt Farah?

Tried to slide a car in the rain. Didn't go well. Didn't go well, uh, and it was not a high-speed crash. It was a very low speed in the rain.

• 1:47:42Speaker 01

Where you're like shit, shit, shit, shit, shit.

• 1:47:44Matt Farah?

I had thirty-five seconds to think about the thing that was about to happen, yeah. It was horrible. Yeah, it wasn't great. But in general, a press car life is pretty hard, but it will get reconditioned before it gets sold to the public.

• 1:47:57Speaker 01

Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, we, um, the, the, it's a varying degree of who beats on them and who doesn't. Some do it in the name of testing and, and, uh, but you can still buy gems out of press fleets.

• 1:48:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:48:07Speaker 01

  I've only dinged a wheel.

• 1:48:09Matt Farah?

In, in Dodge, we rust. You get to be the curator of an automotive museum with no budget or building limit. What is the theme and location?

• 1:48:18Speaker 01

Oh, man. Wow, that's a good question.

• 1:48:20Matt Farah?

Yeah. The location has to be in, uh, uh, Sea Ranch, Northern California. North of San Francisco, highly architectural, at the end of the, where the Russian River Valley meets the Pacific Ocean. And it's gonna be all GiGiaros. The GiGiaro Museum. Heavy design.

• 1:48:41Speaker 01

  GiGiaro Seiko?

• 1:48:42Matt Farah?

I would. There's an automotive journalist that rocks one of those on, yeah, on all the press, on the press launches. Yeah.

• 1:48:51Speaker 01

I would do one in Boston, just so I could use an excuse to get back to Boston, even though it's a horrible idea for a car museum. And I think I would do.

• 1:49:02Speaker 01

Maybe Group B's Greatest Hits. Even though that's been done, but it'd just be fun to do again, because. I'm not an F1 guy. Uh, and I can't convince Australia to import all their V8 supercars and no one would give a shit. So I would go, uh, Group B, history Group B. Audrain should do it.

• 1:49:19Speaker 02

I would do, uh, a race car and then the stock version of the race car. All the way from like, like even top, even like pro touring, or like, uh, not top fuel shit.

• 1:49:29Speaker 01

No, like a John Force car, yeah, yeah.

• 1:49:30Speaker 02

Yeah, any, but also like Group B and then all, just all of those and just show the difference.

• 1:49:34Speaker 01

With like a Lumina next to it.

• 1:49:36Matt Farah?

Yeah, the front wheel drive Lumina.

• 1:49:38Speaker 02

  Right.

• 1:49:38Speaker 01

By the way, speaking of the museums, Audrain's current Monaco exhibit is fucking sick.

• 1:49:42Matt Farah?

You know the next question, Chris Limbright, have you tried to line up a one take with the new AYG Mobile? Where some heaters are involved, that's Kippy's new Lumina. You just dropped Lumina, you didn't even know was the next question.

• 1:49:55Speaker 01

I didn't even know what that is.

• 1:49:56Matt Farah?

Kippy, his first, his, his, his old like beater was a Lumina. He had many Lumina, so he bought.

• 1:50:03Speaker 01

  Who's Kippy?

• 1:50:04Matt Farah?

From AY, from Are You Garbage?

• 1:50:05Speaker 02

  Kevin.

• 1:50:06Matt Farah?

  Kevin Ryan.

• 1:50:06Speaker 01

  I'm sorry.

• 1:50:07Speaker 02

  I apologize.

• 1:50:08Matt Farah?

You need to get on this Are You Garbage train. Uh, I would.

• 1:50:11Speaker 01

  I'm literally just the dollop.

• 1:50:12Matt Farah?

Okay, I would rip heater, I would rip heaters in a Lumina, a hundred percent. Would rip heaters. Uh, old Rusty Bimmer, what car magazines would you recommend to subscribe to? Road and Track.

• 1:50:23Speaker 01

Yeah, sorry, yeah, apologies, Road and Track.

• 1:50:25Matt Farah?

  The Road Rat is excellent.

• 1:50:27Speaker 01

When I'm taking a shit at my uncle's house in New Hampshire, he has a bunch of those Hagerty museums and those seem good.

• 1:50:32Matt Farah?

Yeah. Uh, Triple Zero, shout out to them.

• 1:50:36Speaker 01

  Uh, that's expensive though, right?

• 1:50:37Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it is.

• 1:50:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:50:38Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it is.

• 1:50:38Speaker 01

Just, uh, the internet and Road and Track.

• 1:50:41Matt Farah?

Uh, Shan Wow wants to buy a car from Florida, but resides in California. I've heard very much about avoiding Florida cars due to flooding and title.

• 1:50:52Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 1:50:52Matt Farah?

How would you go about purchasing a car, purchasing a car from Florida if you were to? I wouldn't.

• 1:50:58Speaker 01

I wouldn't. Hire Freddie to look under the frame.

• 1:51:00Matt Farah?

I would absolutely not buy a Florida car.

• 1:51:02Speaker 01

I would ask Freddie to look at it, but most of you don't have access to be able to do that. And Freddie would also decline my call.

• 1:51:08Matt Farah?

Dude, I don't even trust a Florida PPI, like, straight up.

• 1:51:11Speaker 01

Oh, man, it's good. It's good.

• 1:51:13Speaker 02

It would have to be a PPI by a very well-respected dealership, and even then, I'd be nervous.

• 1:51:18Matt Farah?

  You know.

• 1:51:19Speaker 01

Only two raccoons slept in it?

• 1:51:21Matt Farah?

You know, there's a rumor going on, straight up YouTube drama rumor. That Freddie is going to be returning the fully restored million mile Lexus to me. Which I can, which I'll be buying back for a dollar.

• 1:51:37Speaker 01

This doesn't feel like a rumor. This feels like a breaking news.

• 1:51:40Matt Farah?

It seems like, well, because I haven't seen it. I, I'm not.

• 1:51:43Speaker 01

I saw a video of someone else who isn't Freddie.

• 1:51:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:51:46Speaker 01

  Freddie restored it.

• 1:51:48Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. So the, the idea was I sold it to Freddie for a dollar.

• 1:51:51Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:51:52Matt Farah?

  He was gonna restore it.

• 1:51:53Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:51:54Matt Farah?

He then decided to like, you know, go way off the deep end with the flood P1s and shit. And he was like, what am I gonna do with this fucking Lexus? But his other homie was a ex Lexus Master Tech.

• 1:52:08Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:52:08Matt Farah?

And wanted to start his YouTube channel.

• 1:52:12Speaker 01

  The other dude?

• 1:52:13Matt Farah?

  The other dude.

• 1:52:13Speaker 01

  Yeah, who, yeah.

• 1:52:14Matt Farah?

Whose, whose, whose name I don't even know.

• 1:52:16Speaker 01

  I think it's Jared.

• 1:52:18Matt Farah?

  Oh, is it Jared?

• 1:52:19Speaker 01

  No, fuck it.

• 1:52:21Matt Farah?

Jared is another dude from with Freddie.

• 1:52:23Speaker 01

If I get it wrong, I apologize.

• 1:52:24Matt Farah?

Whatever. But the other dude, who I assume I'll meet at some point, did actually restore the car.

• 1:52:29Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:52:30Matt Farah?

But Freddie still owned it. And now the guy was, had moved on to the next thing.

• 1:52:35Speaker 01

Right. So the car's coming back?

• 1:52:36Matt Farah?

Apparently. I've heard. I've heard it's fully restored and coming back. Yeah.

• 1:52:41Speaker 01

  Charlie Puth?

• 1:52:42Matt Farah?

Um. Andrew Stone says predict what the Bentley will sell for.

• 1:52:47Speaker 01

  Oh, that's a good one.

• 1:52:48Matt Farah?

So, we have here at WCCS, I run the gambling also. I own the company, but also I make the book. So, we have an in-company, in-house company betting pool of what the Bentley will sell for.

• 1:53:05Speaker 01

So, I'm from Boston, so when you say that, you're firing neurons that I'm not supposed to talk about in front of my wife.

• 1:53:12Matt Farah?

  About gambling?

• 1:53:13Speaker 01

Because I have placed bets with my friends back in Boston.

• 1:53:15Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 1:53:16Speaker 01

Because we can't do that legally out here.

• 1:53:17Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 1:53:18Speaker 01

Thank you, Paul, for taking all my bets in my Venmos. My tax guy's like, "What are all these?"

• 1:53:22Speaker 02

  This year's gonna hit.

• 1:53:26Matt Farah?

  This one was for charity.

• 1:53:27Speaker 01

She hasn't watched this, and Ben, don't tell your sister. What the fuck?

• 1:53:31Speaker 02

Think of all the money you save if you go to Car Week.

• 1:53:34Speaker 01

So, are we talking over-unders? Like, what type of bets are we talking about?

• 1:53:39Matt Farah?

Price is Right rules. Closest going over, close without going over. If you get it exactly, it's a higher payout.

• 1:53:46Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 1:53:47Matt Farah?

So, it's a small money, company betting pool.

• 1:53:50Speaker 02

  I think thirty-one-five.

• 1:53:52Matt Farah?

So, it's at thirty right now.

• 1:53:53Speaker 02

  Oh, it is.

• 1:53:54Matt Farah?

  Thirty right now.

• 1:53:55Speaker 01

  My initial number was thirty-one.

• 1:53:58Matt Farah?

So, not that it matters to the end result, because it's whatever someone's willing to pay for it, but if it crosses thirty-three, and what day? This is gonna air Tuesday, right? So, this auction ends tomorrow, if you're listening to this on Tuesday.

• 1:54:13Speaker 01

I almost wanted to cover that one.

• 1:54:14Matt Farah?

Wednesday, Wednesday the 12th, it ends. Okay? So, if it goes past thirty-three, I win the game. I will have spent, the game was...

• 1:54:23Speaker 01

Well, you should be the one who...

• 1:54:24Matt Farah?

Well, I've already won the game of life, but the game, this game, the game where that I made up, which is can I drive a Bentley for a year for less than leasing a mid-size EV?

• 1:54:37Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:54:38Matt Farah?

Right? So, if it goes over thirty-three, then I have done that. Right? If it goes over forty-three... I make a net profit, which is

• 1:54:48Speaker 01

  Forty-three.

• 1:54:49Matt Farah?

unheard of in the Bentley community.

• 1:54:51Speaker 01

  They're like, oh.

• 1:54:52Matt Farah?

Nobody has ever, nobody has turned a profit on a Bentley in forty-seven years.

• 1:54:58Speaker 01

  Right, right, right, right.

• 1:54:59Matt Farah?

So, we'll see where it ends up, but it's a good car.

• 1:55:01Speaker 01

I sold a car on Cars and Bits.

• 1:55:03Matt Farah?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:55:04Speaker 01

And I feel bad telling this story, uh, because I did very well. Uh, not, well, actually, percentage-wise, yeah, I'm gonna come out ahead of you. Uh, I bought a Jaguar with a V-eight, uh, with all the paperwork that it was legally done. And I, uh, I was hoping, I sold it no reserve, and I was hoping to get five. And if it sold for fifteen hundred, I was mentally ready for it.

• 1:55:29Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:55:29Speaker 01

Uh, it sold for fourteen thousand dollars. And I was screaming in my office, and I was like, my wife's like, what wrong? I'm like, I went from Epiphone to Gibson. I was, I had two different mountain bikes in my shopping cart I was ready to buy, like this track, this na- And she's like, hold on, pause all that, let's figure out what to do with the money, 'cause she's the smart one.

• 1:55:48Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 1:55:48Speaker 01

Um, that car has already been, they've owned it for two years, it's already for sale on like Craigslist or Marketplace for sixty-five hundred dollars, and I feel fucking terrible.

• 1:55:58Matt Farah?

  Oh.

• 1:55:59Speaker 01

And I was like, should I buy it back? And fucking roll the dice again. It had Arizona plates.

• 1:56:05Matt Farah?

  It hasn't gotten better.

• 1:56:06Speaker 01

No. But I did all the stuff to fix it.

• 1:56:09Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:56:10Speaker 01

And they probably, when it came time to smog it, it is California legal, but it is a pain to smog, 'cause it does blow dirty, and you gotta like do all the tricks and all this shit. And I think when it was their turn, but when they bought it, they're like, they're like, it's just part of owning a Jag, and I was like, alright.

• 1:56:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:56:26Speaker 01

Boom, and they were the only people to come see it, see it in person, which made me feel better. 'Cause I've never sold a car at auction.

• 1:56:33Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:56:33Speaker 01

And then when I, someone sent me a link, um, they were like, hey, does this look familiar? I was like, no fucking way. I was like, should I buy it?

• 1:56:42Matt Farah?

Look, man. Well, this, we talked about it last episode, this rolling thirty-five year thing could really benefit us with the smog. Have you seen this thing?

• 1:56:50Speaker 01

  I have.

• 1:56:51Matt Farah?

Yeah, apparently Leno's sponsoring it. We, we hypothesized last show that it would bring in tax revenue for people who would happily register their classic European gray market era sort of cars. Yeah, you could sort of put.

• 1:57:09Speaker 01

Or those ones with dealer plates?

• 1:57:11Matt Farah?

Not put an end to Montana, but like, yo, I'm in.

• 1:57:14Speaker 01

  South Carolina?

• 1:57:15Matt Farah?

  I'm in California, I'm a dick, I pay my fucking way, it's.

• 1:57:19Speaker 01

The dealer plate is kind of a fucking sweet little.

• 1:57:22Matt Farah?

It is, but it probably, I prob- A, the state gets more of my money.

• 1:57:25Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, you can't just get, you can't just get a dealer plate.

• 1:57:28Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:57:29Speaker 01

  I'm just giving you shit.

• 1:57:30Matt Farah?

I mean, but like, I'm in California, my shit is legit.

• 1:57:32Speaker 01

  A hundred percent.

• 1:57:33Matt Farah?

Hundred percent. But like, the Countach, like, that won't pass Ca- that won't pass smog, period.

• 1:57:39Speaker 01

  Right, as it is.

• 1:57:39Matt Farah?

  The Japanese car?

• 1:57:41Speaker 01

  Cleanest Countach on the planet.

• 1:57:42Matt Farah?

I would happily fucking do it in California. It's not about the taxes, it will not pass.

• 1:57:48Speaker 01

I always love when I see like, the most random car on a Montana plate, I'm like, what are we doing? And that's the guy who's like, these roads are shit, I'm like.

• 1:57:56Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:57:57Speaker 01

  The disconnect.

• 1:57:58Speaker 02

Thank you very much for saying yes.

• 1:57:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:58:01Speaker 01

  I'm a liberal cuck.

• 1:58:02Matt Farah?

That, the Bentley, those Bentley-ing plates, that's a Cali tag.

• 1:58:06Speaker 01

  Great plate.

• 1:58:06Matt Farah?

Taycan, Cali tag, motorcycles, Cali tags, dealer plate, Cali tags.

• 1:58:11Speaker 01

My jack plates were two in line four.

• 1:58:14Matt Farah?

  Oh, that's pretty good.

• 1:58:15Speaker 01

And I was filling it up one night at a gas station in Lake Forest, and it has the boat tail. So you can pull up either side, it was great, because there was two tanks, saddle tanks. And I'd fill one up, and I'd fill the other up, and this dude behind me is like staring at the car, staring at the car, because I'm filling up over here, and I'm gonna go fill up over here. And he walks up, he goes, he might have been a little high, but he walks up, he's like, "Hey, man, does this have two engines?" And at first, I'm like, are you a fucking idiot?

• 1:58:41Speaker 02

  Yeah, that's great.

• 1:58:42Speaker 01

I pause, I go, the plate says two in line fours.

• 1:58:45Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:58:46Speaker 01

I chuckle, I'm like, no, it's a V8. And he goes, oh, and like, I still don't think he got the joke, but I'm like, it's like, alright, cool, man.

• 1:58:52Matt Farah?

No, that's a, the, the, you, you put out misleading signs.

• 1:58:55Speaker 01

  Yeah, a hundred percent, yeah.

• 1:58:57Matt Farah?

That's a real, well, what was she wearing moment? If I, if I may. No, that's it's not cool to joke about that, but except if it's a car.

• 1:59:06Speaker 01

  No, right, right, right.

• 1:59:07Matt Farah?

It's a car, if it's a car and it's not a person, then you can make a joke pretending that it was a person who was wearing a skirt and, uh, please, no.

• 1:59:17Speaker 01

  Next question, Chune Hound.

• 1:59:18Matt Farah?

Misleading license plate. No, you know what happens is I get accused of something and then I have to make a hard right wing turn and... Oh, God. And then...

• 1:59:27Speaker 01

Then Zach and I start a podcast.

• 1:59:29Matt Farah?

Cause you gotta find a castle to hide in. And then we have to start running grifts. I mean, we could do it, though. We could definitely do it.

• 1:59:34Speaker 01

I'm in Baldwin Heights and this is where the start of fucking, this was like a...

• 1:59:38Matt Farah?

Bro, listen, listen, you wanna make some money, all we have to do is scare the fuck out of people. You know, that, that...

• 1:59:50Speaker 01

Oh, the old people who are still there. That's where I live in, that's where I live in Orange County.

• 1:59:56Matt Farah?

Uh, Chune Hound wants to talk mad shit. Must defend the Lotus engines I was shitting on in the last episode. I said you don't want a Lotus powered Lotus, is what I said. I said you want a Toyota powered Lotus. Uh, and then he...

• 2:00:11Speaker 01

  Calm down, Richard.

• 2:00:11Matt Farah?

And then goes on to defend their Lotus Esprit.

• 2:00:14Speaker 01

It never broke out once, it tours there, she's still going.

• 2:00:16Matt Farah?

Yeah, congratulations. Those are lies. You had a good one.

• 2:00:19Speaker 01

You sit on a throne of lies.

• 2:00:20Matt Farah?

You had a good one, it's okay. Uh, here, here for Matt's Cats has a good question. Accepting that cars generally don't appreciate and you lose money no matter what, how should the aspiring manual transmission enthusiast pick out cars that have a high floor? So, how do you lose the least money in a fun car? What do you buy if you want?

• 2:00:39Speaker 01

You can't worry about it, though, that's the thing.

• 2:00:40Matt Farah?

You gotta worry about it a little bit. Some cars lose more, a lot more money than others. How do you lose the least amount of money in a fun car?

• 2:00:46Speaker 01

I mean, if you want a fun car, you shouldn't care about that part.

• 2:00:49Matt Farah?

Right, but like, Mark II GTI, is it, is it a Toyota MR2? Is it an 86? Is it a Mustang?

• 2:00:57Speaker 01

Go buy a Fox Body, exactly, yeah, yeah. Or C5 Corvette, you know, like, mm... I, I'm the wrong person to ask. When I, when that, when the hammer fell on that Jag, I shit myself. Cause I'm perennially been the guy, I buy high and I sell low. Uh, same with my meme stocks, man. Fucking AMC, uh, still smarting over that one.

• 2:01:20Speaker 01

So, that was a great, uh, it really helped my taxes out one year, actually.

• 2:01:23Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 2:01:24Speaker 01

  That's not a joke, that's not a joke.

• 2:01:26Matt Farah?

  It's awesome.

• 2:01:27Speaker 01

I, if I'm, if you're buying an enthusiast's car to enjoy it and drive it, who gives a shit about the floor?

• 2:01:34Matt Farah?

  That was.

• 2:01:35Speaker 02

But I mean, if you wanna minimize, I think reliability, collectability, those are important things.

• 2:01:40Matt Farah?

  A lot, it's, it's.

• 2:01:41Speaker 01

And I don't care about that.

• 2:01:42Matt Farah?

  One, my problem.

• 2:01:43Speaker 01

So I'm not in the financial space to care about it, maybe is the way to look at it. I'm buying it to enjoy it and I'm looking for one that I can afford and drive it hard and then go like, oh, you want it next?

• 2:01:55Matt Farah?

If you're financially able to treat a car as disposable, that's awesome. A lot of people aren't able to do that.

• 2:02:05Speaker 01

Right, and that's not what I intended, that's how I said it.

• 2:02:09Matt Farah?

It's not, I'm not saying, I'm not trying to say anything is wrong with what you said.

• 2:02:12Speaker 01

No, but that is how I said it.

• 2:02:13Matt Farah?

  The sentiment is correct.

• 2:02:16Speaker 01

  Right.

• 2:02:16Matt Farah?

You know, you should buy the thing you want and enjoy it for what it is and not, not consider the resale, but.

• 2:02:22Speaker 01

And because I meant it as like, I can't afford like a short war base nine eleven with the blah blah blah blah, you know, like, I can't afford that even though my dream is an old nine eleven.

• 2:02:29Matt Farah?

No, I mean, even with the question that they were talking about, it was really like, what, like, what, what car, what, what's a good car with a hard floor? Where you can buy it and drive it for a couple of years and it's on that floor.

• 2:02:44Speaker 01

Twenty-five hundred HD floor is fucking.

• 2:02:47Matt Farah?

How about like S one nine seven bullet Mustangs?

• 2:02:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:02:52Speaker 02

  Sure.

• 2:02:52Matt Farah?

You know, or like, like Terminator Mustangs or, or.

• 2:02:57Speaker 01

Or like some grand sport version of a Corvette.

• 2:02:59Matt Farah?

Yeah, a C seven or C six grand sport will just sit on the floor.

• 2:03:03Speaker 01

  Or a C five Z O six.

• 2:03:05Matt Farah?

A C five Z O six is seventeen thousand eight hundred dollars for all of eternity.

• 2:03:10Speaker 01

And it's the quickest car for ninety percent of people out there.

• 2:03:13Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 2:03:13Speaker 02

Someone just bought one in my building, it looks so good.

• 2:03:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah. There's a, there's a bunch of stuff. I mean, a but.

• 2:03:20Speaker 01

  I think Integra type bars.

• 2:03:21Matt Farah?

Almost anything from 2005 with manual gearbox. It's like it.

• 2:03:25Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. SVT Focus. I don't know.

• 2:03:29Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, okay. Christian says, what are signs a used car was driven very hard? I stay away from tinted taillights and aftermarket paddle shifters.

• 2:03:40Speaker 01

Is Christian asking about as many?

• 2:03:41Matt Farah?

  If you're looking at.

• 2:03:42Speaker 01

  Aftermarket paddle shifters is hilarious.

• 2:03:43Matt Farah?

If you're getting aftermarket paddle shifters and tinted taillights, you're looking at some trash.

• 2:03:46Speaker 01

Aftermarket paddle shifters is back away.

• 2:03:50Matt Farah?

  That's like major.

• 2:03:51Speaker 01

  Not slowly.

• 2:03:51Matt Farah?

  Major trash.

• 2:03:52Speaker 01

Cause that person's a serial killer.

• 2:03:53Speaker 02

Tinted taillights are also a big red flag.

• 2:03:55Speaker 01

  Tinted taillights are bad.

• 2:03:56Speaker 02

  They look terrible.

• 2:03:56Speaker 01

Like, let me darken the thing that tells people I'm slowing down.

• 2:04:00Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 2:04:01Speaker 01

The things we think are cool when we're young.

• 2:04:03Speaker 02

  Right.

• 2:04:04Speaker 01

  Are not.

• 2:04:05Speaker 02

And it was a style choice from like 12 years ago, 15 years ago.

• 2:04:08Speaker 01

But even then, it was like, they, like when they switched to Altisus, you know?

• 2:04:12Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 2:04:12Speaker 01

That was brighter, at least. That was like clear brake lights. Like, go back to that.

• 2:04:16Matt Farah?

Bro, we had a whole period of that when we were like 16. First, it was those GTS light covers, the tinted ones. That you stuck in there. And then you were like, I can't see shit. You get rid of them. And then it was like the Eglite or whatever, like the super bright. You know, when HIDs first came out in the high-end cars, we had the Mustangs. We'd have the blue. We'd get the blue lights. And it would like melt the wiring harness.

• 2:04:43Speaker 02

I saw those on Old and Paula the other day, and they were blinding to me. He was terrible in front of that car.

• 2:04:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it was mad grimy.

• 2:04:49Speaker 01

Trunk rattling with like bases set to neg one. It's so.

• 2:04:54Matt Farah?

Well, if you don't go, if you don't fucking put a Scotch-Brite behind the license plate, you know, you know about that, right?

• 2:05:00Speaker 01

Is that to stop it from rattling?

• 2:05:01Matt Farah?

From license plate vibrating? That was what we used to do. We used to shove that Scotch-Brite back there if you couldn't get the dynamo.

• 2:05:06Speaker 01

My buddy in high school had a Blazer, the S10 Blazer, where he would drive around with the rear hatch open.

• 2:05:11Matt Farah?

  Popped.

• 2:05:12Speaker 01

And he would bump bump bump and we would be driving around and one time he got pulled over and the cop came up and slammed that shit shut.

• 2:05:18Matt Farah?

  Whoa.

• 2:05:19Speaker 01

  Eric Esposito from Winter, Massachusetts.

• 2:05:21Matt Farah?

Wow. That's when you had the MTX Thunders.

• 2:05:24Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was probably even before that.

• 2:05:27Matt Farah?

Yeah. You couldn't even buy those not stolen. A hundred percent.

• 2:05:31Speaker 01

A hundred percent of MTX Thunders. Oh my god.

• 2:05:34Matt Farah?

MTX was just, they just had a factory and then people, they just put them in a room and people would just steal them and you'd buy them.

• 2:05:41Speaker 01

When you first moved to California, did you, and I don't know what year you moved here, did you ever get the?

• 2:05:46Matt Farah?

  Oh nine.

• 2:05:47Speaker 01

So I predate you a little bit. Did you ever get the, um, hey man, you wanna buy some speakers?

• 2:05:52Speaker 02

My friend, my friend's in college.

• 2:05:53Matt Farah?

No, that was New York. In New York.

• 2:05:54Speaker 02

  Happened in Colorado too.

• 2:05:55Speaker 01

Oh, really? I got it out here though, right?

• 2:05:56Matt Farah?

That's how I got the MTX?

• 2:05:58Speaker 02

  In Colorado.

• 2:05:59Matt Farah?

You think I would do a store for MTX?

• 2:06:02Speaker 02

I don't, I don't think they sell them in stores.

• 2:06:03Matt Farah?

  They don't.

• 2:06:05Speaker 02

Their storefront is a white E350 van.

• 2:06:07Speaker 01

It was a great sketch and I cannot remember who did it. It was like a comedy sketch on YouTube where like you wanna buy some speakers? And you walk into the van and then you walk through the van into the front of a Best Buy and he takes it and it was a best, he's like, and they start selling him, like, he legit starts selling him like Best Buy speakers. Fucking best sketch. But when I first moved here, cause the sketch, the, the thing was they tell you these box of speakers?

• 2:06:29Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 2:06:29Speaker 01

And there were rocks inside and shit like that.

• 2:06:31Speaker 02

Oh, right. They make them heavy so they feel like high quality.

• 2:06:34Speaker 01

Huntington Beach, I had the whole.

• 2:06:35Matt Farah?

Oh, you guys sold some fake shit?

• 2:06:36Speaker 01

No, no, no. I, I had a guy try to, but I was like, I've seen the sketch, motherfucker.

• 2:06:40Matt Farah?

Oh dude. Me and Larry Casilla would go down to Chinatown and we would buy the grimiest, dude, it was great. He had Bazooka Tubes, dude. He had, I had the, I had the box. I had the fucking, the big, the MTX Thunder 1000s. Two of them with the JL Audio, the big amp that you'd mount on that backseat. You know what I mean? The back of the backseat, you had it mounted up there. Fucking nice cable management, the whole shit. Larry, he had two Bazooka, cause he had a Fox Body hatch. So on either side, one on either side, he had, he had two Bazooka Tubes. It was sick.

• 2:07:19Speaker 01

So not like through your picture Larry.

• 2:07:21Matt Farah?

Dude, if you had that today.

• 2:07:23Speaker 01

Hey guys, uh, thanks for tuning in. I'm listening to, uh, Still Drake.

• 2:07:27Speaker 02

  Listen to Limp Bizkit.

• 2:07:28Matt Farah?

The, um, no, it was Rage. Larry would be bumping Rage Against the Machine.

• 2:07:34Speaker 01

He'd be the type would look at the camera and would like not mouth the swear. You, I won't do what you tell me.

• 2:07:43Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 2:07:44Speaker 01

  I love Larry.

• 2:07:45Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 2:07:45Speaker 01

  He uh.

• 2:07:46Matt Farah?

  It was rage.

• 2:07:47Speaker 01

And and to bring this full circle back to. Congrats on a thousand episodes. Meeting all these people and your friends and and like intermingling. Larry Casilla is one of the nicest people I've ever been with.

• 2:07:57Matt Farah?

  Absolutely.

• 2:07:58Speaker 01

Oh, yeah. And to see what he's done.

• 2:08:00Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 2:08:00Speaker 01

With his. I just bought a GT three, huh huh, you know, like.

• 2:08:05Matt Farah?

So you know what's the best about Larry is it's not his GT three that he really loves is his Model T. He's now where we are.

• 2:08:12Speaker 01

  He has a Model T?

• 2:08:13Matt Farah?

He bought a Model T for five grand. And he fucking loves it and he rolls, he commutes in it sometimes in the summer. He commutes in it to his shop. It's like four miles. Yeah. And he rocks his Model T. And he loves that shit, dude.

• 2:08:25Speaker 01

  That's amazing.

• 2:08:26Matt Farah?

I'm so, that's, that to me is like, that's the circle. Where it's like, I want to. Connect with this machinery in a way that's not.

• 2:08:36Speaker 01

  Cause you've driven one, right?

• 2:08:37Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 2:08:38Speaker 01

Oh, you did the whole fucking uh.

• 2:08:39Matt Farah?

  I've driven a.

• 2:08:40Speaker 02

We did that, but he did a story for road and track.

• 2:08:42Matt Farah?

I did a story for on track where I drove the Super T and then the racing T. The Super T was crazy.

• 2:08:47Speaker 01

  Been anything that old.

• 2:08:48Matt Farah?

  They're tractors.

• 2:08:49Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:08:50Matt Farah?

When you can drive a Model T on like dirt, it makes a lot of sense.

• 2:08:54Speaker 01

  Right.

• 2:08:54Matt Farah?

In roads with other cars, it's the worst.

• 2:08:56Speaker 01

That, that was the guy who does the Bentley recreations, right?

• 2:08:59Matt Farah?

Uh, Persang, it's Boto. Yeah, Persang, yeah. Persang is alright. Yeah, I'm happy for Larry and his red GT three. His guard's red.

• 2:09:07Speaker 01

Then he drives it too. I love that.

• 2:09:09Speaker 02

  Nice.

• 2:09:09Matt Farah?

Well, you, you know, what's great about him is he doesn't, I mean, there's so many things that are great about him, but for one is he doesn't give a fuck about weather, whatever. He just, he, he does it, you know? He's alright.

• 2:09:19Speaker 01

The car will be clean some time.

• 2:09:20Matt Farah?

He's so, he's, I, I. I taunt him because my Taycan, because he bought, he bought a new Taycan.

• 2:09:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:09:26Matt Farah?

And then he sold it a couple of years later.

• 2:09:28Speaker 01

  About it.

• 2:09:28Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 2:09:29Speaker 01

  The wagon, right?

• 2:09:29Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I bought one that was two years old. So, you know, he paid like a hundred and forty grand for his car and then sold it for seventy. And I paid, I paid sixty four eight.

• 2:09:41Speaker 01

He asked me about it when he first bought it. Because uh he wanted to lower it and then I connected him with Ben Abrams. One of the first ones, there was like a thing you bolt on.

• 2:09:53Speaker 01

Cause Ben's, he still has it, even through all his problems. Oh hey, look at that.

• 2:09:57Matt Farah?

I fucking went four oh five motoring, I went over there the other day and they're like, you're gonna lower this, right? And I got like so mad at them. Like, I was like, it's on air suspension. They're like, yeah, but like, you could lower it. I was like, have you driven around here? I was like, I'm tempted to like fucking lift it and turn it to a four bike.

• 2:10:19Speaker 01

Can you do me one favor before we close this out? Can you go to my YouTube channel? Because I've been stuck on forty nine thousand subscribers.

• 2:10:27Matt Farah?

  What?

• 2:10:28Speaker 01

  For nine million years.

• 2:10:29Matt Farah?

  Subscribe.

• 2:10:32Matt Farah?

Forty eight point nine, this is bullshit.

• 2:10:35Speaker 01

And I've been there for decades.

• 2:10:36Matt Farah?

  Subscribe.

• 2:10:37Speaker 01

Just, I just wanna get to fifty.

• 2:10:41Speaker 01

Not asking to get to a hundred, that's ridiculous. I just need to get to fifty.

• 2:10:45Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 2:10:45Speaker 01

Even though my daughter said, because she's now almost ten, she's like, dad, when can we get it? I'm like, we're never getting the fucking thing. Chuck, if we get it, can I have it? I'm like, you can have it a hundred percent, but we're never getting it. I just need to get to fifty for my own mental.

• 2:10:58Matt Farah?

Please subscribe to the Hooniverse on YouTube. Please, go do it.

• 2:11:03Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 2:11:04Matt Farah?

You need to do it. Oh, you drove the ID Buzz?

• 2:11:08Matt Farah?

  Is it awesome?

• 2:11:08Speaker 01

The range, I, I, I drove it to the fucking Porsche show you were at. And it turned every Porsche. I was like, what is that? Uh, it's great. The range sucks. The touchscreen is absolute garbage. The infotainment, cause it's all touchscreen. Everything else about it is delightful and wonderful. I could see if Hannah ever.

• 2:11:30Matt Farah?

She would want it. No, she would want it, yeah. She loves the Taycan. She's all, she's a hundred percent on board with the Taycan.

• 2:11:36Speaker 01

  I love.

• 2:11:37Matt Farah?

  So great. Yeah.

• 2:11:39Speaker 01

I've driven the newer Taycan, it's even, you know, better.

• 2:11:42Matt Farah?

Uh, it is, it is better, but, but I can't afford it. I can afford this Taycan and it's very nice.

• 2:11:48Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 2:11:49Matt Farah?

Um, we have, uh, promoted that on Monday, we have a very special show, but we had to bump it to, from Monday, no, no, no, Monday was the 10th. What, what do we bump to the eight? I think it's the 18th. We'll get back to you guys, I promise. It was, we, it's a very special show with a very special guest.

• 2:12:10Speaker 01

  This is like 80's PSA.

• 2:12:11Matt Farah?

It was gonna be on, it was gonna be on Monday, we had to bump it. It's okay. It's all good. Scheduling bullshit. TST 1000 is coming up. It's gonna be amazing.

• 2:12:19Speaker 01

I'm so sad I can't be here. Thank you for letting me come on this one.

• 2:12:22Matt Farah?

Oh dude, this is great. Thank you for, for bringing us some booze. Thank you for, uh, your, I think you still, even at, what, 8? 8 to 993? Is that the biggest spread?

• 2:12:34Speaker 02

Uh, maybe, unless Johnny comes on between now and 1000.

• 2:12:40Matt Farah?

  Joking.

• 2:12:40Speaker 02

Cause he was on episode four and five.

• 2:12:43Matt Farah?

Oh, really? Alright, well, we can, we'll engineer that. Listen, he's been on a lot.

• 2:12:48Speaker 02

I think it was a long one and we split it into two. That's probably what happened.

• 2:12:51Speaker 01

I want, one of these days I want to come back and break Scotto's record.

• 2:12:54Matt Farah?

  No, listen, no, no.

• 2:12:55Speaker 01

No, I know, I know. Because when it's us, we're normally quick and out, we go eat and we drink and, and this is, this one is long for us.

• 2:13:02Speaker 02

But just like the Chappelle thing, it is a self-serving record. Just so you can be like, I did this thing.

• 2:13:07Speaker 01

  You're right, you're right.

• 2:13:07Matt Farah?

But like, and, and, and, and being the, the, for long, long isn't like, it's, I'd rather say, I want to do two hours of incredible radio instead of just going, yeah, I want to do for four and a half hours.

• 2:13:23Speaker 01

  That's fair.

• 2:13:24Matt Farah?

Three hours of it kind of suck.

• 2:13:26Speaker 01

No, I know. And I saw he did it, I was like, oh, I want to break that, but you're 100% right. I don't.

• 2:13:29Speaker 02

Scott, I was like, he has a momentum to his storytelling that seems like it's the first 10 minutes and he has, and he's got amazing stories. But we don't want to start an arms race where every guest is like, I can beat that.

• 2:13:39Matt Farah?

No, that happened. After, after, after we, we established that there was some kind of a record, I got like eight text messages and be like, yo, I could beat that. Like, yo, bro, no. So, have we actually, we've talked about what we're doing for the 1000, right? The 1000 is gonna be the putting this to death. It's, it's eight hours of podcasting. Eight fucking hours of podcasting.

• 2:14:04Matt Farah?

Okay, and then we're never gonna talk about the length of a podcast ever again.

• 2:14:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:14:09Matt Farah?

We're gonna give you what you want.

• 2:14:10Speaker 01

  Is it gonna be live?

• 2:14:11Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 2:14:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 2:14:12Speaker 01

  Oh, that's sick.

• 2:14:13Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 2:14:14Speaker 01

  I'll be on a plane.

• 2:14:16Matt Farah?

  Jeff Clucker.

• 2:14:17Speaker 01

  Puerto Rico.

• 2:14:17Matt Farah?

Jeff Clucker, the Huniverse, subscribe to the Huniverse on fucking YouTube.

• 2:14:22Speaker 01

  Or don't, I asked.

• 2:14:23Matt Farah?

Get him to 50 grand, no, get him to 50 Gs, dude, he needs it, he wants it, we all deserve it.

• 2:14:31Matt Farah?

  We do.

• 2:14:32Speaker 01

  Shout out.

• 2:14:32Matt Farah?

  We all deserve it.

• 2:14:33Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 2:14:33Matt Farah?

  We're gonna go eat dinner?

• 2:14:34Speaker 01

Yes, I do very much. I also really have to pee, cause I'm 44.

• 2:14:37Matt Farah?

Yeah, let's go eat dinner. Uh, thank you to our patrons for asking such great questions, of course, patreon.com/thesmokingtirepodcast if you wanna get the show

• 2:14:45Speaker 01

  Especially Casey.

• 2:14:45Matt Farah?

Early, live, ad-free, ask questions and a whole lot more, uh, merch at thesmokingtireshop.com, TST1000 coming live March 30th, mark your calendars, it'll be available not just to patrons but to everyone in the public. And of course, please watch our actual car reviews on YouTube, we do still need to make a little bit of money doing that. Um, a little bit, it's, you know, it's not a lot, it's dying slowly. It's being choked.

• 2:15:16Speaker 01

You guys keep talking, finishes up, I gotta go pee.

• 2:15:17Matt Farah?

It's being choked out. Jeff's leaving the studio and I will too.

• 2:15:20Speaker 02

He's getting up on the record.

• 2:15:21Matt Farah?

I'll see you later. Good fucking bye.

• 2:15:23Speaker 01
