• 0:19Speaker 01

Hey, can you come pick me up? Yeah, what's wrong? Nothing. Are you sure? Yeah, no, I just need a ride. Ride, ride. Oh, my God. So what? I just wanna have fun. Start your engines. Tight, girl.

• 0:30Benito Skinner?

  I'm Benito Skinner.

• 0:31Mary Beth Barone?

  I'm Mary Beth Brown.

• 0:33Benito Skinner?

  And this.

• 0:33Mary Beth Barone?

  Is.

• 0:34Benito Skinner?

  Ride.

• 0:38Mary Beth Barone?

It's a carpool. It's kind of a school bus carpool. It's both of those things.

• 0:42Speaker 04

We said, you do that beginning every time. Like, I thought that was just like a thing that was.

• 0:46Mary Beth Barone?

  What?

• 0:47Speaker 04

The like, come on, get in.

• 0:48Mary Beth Barone?

No, that's the, that's, every time is the theme song.

• 0:52Benito Skinner?

  That's our really iconic.

• 0:53Speaker 04

No, I'm a [BLEEP] to that. Okay, I thought you were like saying right now that you were doing that. I was like, oh, it sounds so.

• 0:58Mary Beth Barone?

No, a carpool is when we both ride for the same thing. And then the school bus episode was when we had the whole cast of overcompensating, except for you and Adam, because you chose not to come to Coachella.

• 1:07Speaker 04

And what were, and our reasons were different. I had committed to a friend's pilot.

• 1:10Benito Skinner?

You guys, I like can't watch my babies fight. It's like I'm right back on set. Just kidding, I love it.

• 1:15Speaker 04

  No, we're actually close.

• 1:16Benito Skinner?

No, I know. The cast, like, does truly get along in a lot of cool ways.

• 1:20Mary Beth Barone?

From the public, what everyone thinks our different relationships are, because I'm sure it's different than what you think. Yeah, we're recording.

• 1:25Speaker 04

  Oh, my gosh, you guys.

• 1:26Benito Skinner?

This is how we trick ya.

• 1:27Speaker 04

  To trick ya, hop on.

• 1:28Benito Skinner?

What do you think about the industry? Yeah, that's us.

• 1:31Speaker 04

Wait, my laugh is really loud. Do I need to stay back?

• 1:33Mary Beth Barone?

  No.

• 1:34Benito Skinner?

  No.

• 1:34Mary Beth Barone?

Well, we'll fix it in post.

• 1:35Speaker 04

Yeah, Mary Beth's like, we've had a loud bitch on before, Terry's mom.

• 1:38Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 1:39Benito Skinner?

Yeah, we figured it out. Wait, it's kind of just you and Terry's mom as like solo guests.

• 1:43Mary Beth Barone?

Did we not have any guests last season in Ride Heritage Month?

• 1:45Benito Skinner?

No, we literally tried, but like, we couldn't book Terry. And then I think at one point, we tried for a few other people. It's really hard to get people in the room.

• 1:53Speaker 04

  See, not me.

• 1:54Benito Skinner?

  We.

• 1:54Speaker 04

  It was hard last time.

• 1:55Benito Skinner?

We almost tried and then we.

• 1:56Mary Beth Barone?

But. Oh, you, yeah, you rescheduled on us once.

• 1:59Speaker 04

Here's the thing, everyone's, oh, mad at me, mad at me, mad at me. This is a big deal. I say no to podcasts because why? I have no filter. And that gets me in a lot of trouble.

• 2:06Mary Beth Barone?

And we're gonna have to edit the fuck out of this.

• 2:08Benito Skinner?

  I know.

• 2:08Mary Beth Barone?

You're gonna text us 10. Things you want to cut.

• 2:10Speaker 04

No, I won't because I'm trying to get better at it.

• 2:13Mary Beth Barone?

But we're not gonna walk you into like conversations where you would feel like you said something wrong either.

• 2:18Benito Skinner?

I always have that people, it's like, you know, I'm enjoying myself and then they go, what do you think about the Kardashians? And I'm like, aren't we talking about a show? Like, are you really gonna do this to me right now?

• 2:26Mary Beth Barone?

  That's a really good example.

• 2:27Benito Skinner?

You know what I mean? I'm like, oh.

• 2:28Speaker 04

And what I think is, I have a fatter ass.

• 2:33Mary Beth Barone?

I did a podcast recently where I specifically said before we started, I do not want to talk about my dating life. And it was the entire podcast.

• 2:40Speaker 04

  And I was freaking out.

• 2:42Mary Beth Barone?

  And I was like, I don't remember.

• 2:45Benito Skinner?

  I don't really remember.

• 2:48Mary Beth Barone?

I said, jeans are passed down from the mother.

• 2:52Benito Skinner?

Jeans are passed down to Donald Trump.

• 2:54Speaker 04

Don't get me started on all of the different American ads. I'm sorry, but like something's really going on. If you guys catch me wrapping myself in a fucking American flag for anything coming up, I want you to, I want you to call in as.

• 3:05Mary Beth Barone?

  Who do we call?

• 3:05Speaker 04

Probably Ice. And I'd rather them take me than the people they are taking.

• 3:08Benito Skinner?

We would just call you, I think, at that point. I'll be like, hey, sweetie.

• 3:11Speaker 04

Hey, did you notice the flag you're wrapping around your body? Let's stick to clothes instead.

• 3:15Mary Beth Barone?

The old Holmes can't come to the phone right now. She's dead. It's a movie. It's pretend. It's pretend. You should know that.

• 3:21Benito Skinner?

Wait, Holmes, I'm just so happy you're here.

• 3:23Speaker 04

I am so honored to be here. I didn't know we were started when we were joking earlier, but like, I'm actually obsessed with both of you.

• 3:28Mary Beth Barone?

We bet. We don't say obsessed on the podcast.

• 3:31Benito Skinner?

Yeah, welcome to our domain. This is gonna be a little different than the other pods you've done.

• 3:35Mary Beth Barone?

Our cancelled pod, you ride for us.

• 3:37Speaker 04

I ride for you, but I am also bleeped too. But I, yeah, I just really, really, I look up to both of you. I can't believe your brains are real. I genuinely can't believe that I, I really am. I'm like obsessed. Oh, fuck, I say obsessed a lot of it. Notice that.

• 3:51Benito Skinner?

No, no, it just bleep all of it.

• 3:52Mary Beth Barone?

It's just a joke. We'll bleep it every time.

• 3:53Speaker 04

I ride, I ride, I ride. And Mary Beth and I, I think, actually got closer post-set.

• 3:57Mary Beth Barone?

We had one scene together in the finale.

• 3:58Speaker 04

That's the thing, but I always knew, I was like, that's a really smart bitch.

• 4:02Benito Skinner?

The one scene is, do we have any chasers?

• 4:05Mary Beth Barone?

No, so that's the second scene.

• 4:06Benito Skinner?

  Oh, the.

• 4:07Mary Beth Barone?

The first scene is, I'm disabled. That's why we have a.

• 4:09Speaker 04

  And Mary Beth is.

• 4:10Mary Beth Barone?

  I go.

• 4:11Speaker 04

  Panic attack.

• 4:12Mary Beth Barone?

Cause I hear Tatianna Del Rey.

• 4:13Speaker 04

And everyone has a panic attack different on screen and I literally wish I could watch all of my friends see what they choose to do panic attack on screen. Mary Beth did a phenomenal job.

• 4:21Benito Skinner?

What'd you think of mine, episode six?

• 4:22Speaker 04

  Incredible.

• 4:23Benito Skinner?

  Thank you, sweetie.

• 4:23Speaker 04

  Both of you.

• 4:24Mary Beth Barone?

  I just got two.

• 4:25Speaker 04

Don't you wish? Cause you know you'd see one of your friends do it and be like, that's how yours go.

• 4:29Benito Skinner?

I'm like, whoa. It is kind of a thing where it's like, has a panic attack, what does that mean to people? Mine is like, I cry a lot during them and I get really red and like, like lose breath and I have to be like moving.

• 4:39Speaker 04

Yes. I didn't know what they were growing up and I had them so often, but then I had to like not have them because people are like, you're killing the vibe. And so then what I started doing, there was like this one phase where I was like going to school in North Florida for like just one semester. I was like, not okay. And every day on the ride to school, I would hold my chest in the steering wheel. And so I saw a therapist for the first time and I was like, so this is kind of how I drive. And she was like, I think you're having kind of panic attacks. And I was like, I don't think I could drive in a panic attack, bitch.

• 5:06Mary Beth Barone?

And she's like, you're not supposed to.

• 5:07Speaker 04

She's like, my favorite movies are this. And I was like, you're not my therapist anymore.

• 5:11Benito Skinner?

You're not supposed to say that to me. I, it's that really special moment that happens when you like grow up and you realize that no one ever tells kids, like, if you're feeling this, this is normal. So I'm like sitting at Pirates of the Caribbean and I'm like, if I don't finish my frozen Coke slushy, my mom's gonna be dead when I get home. And, and like, that's going through my head. And then I'm like, that's just how, that's how, everyone's thinking that, right? And I would say that at school and everyone's like, the fuck, Benny? We'll just say, okay, quick disclaimer, we're about to talk about [BLEEP]. If there's a kid in the car.

• 5:40Speaker 04

No, that's not the disclaimer. Okay.

• 5:42Mary Beth Barone?

Disclaimer is we're about to talk about Santa. So if you have kids in the car.

• 5:46Speaker 04

And I saw mama kissing Santa Claus.

• 5:49Benito Skinner?

I saw mama doing some unbelievable goddamn unholy things to Santa.

• 5:55Mary Beth Barone?

  Sexy.

• 5:56Benito Skinner?

I know. Santa baby is like, I can't wait to perform that at your wedding, at your coronation.

• 6:01Speaker 04

I would love a song like that at my wedding. I'm ready though. I'm ready to get married.

• 6:04Benito Skinner?

Well, I want to do Boy Lesc at your wedding. So I'm in like a very.

• 6:07Speaker 04

I've never heard that phrase. Did you just make that up?

• 6:09Benito Skinner?

What? No, I hope. No, it exists. And I'll have tassels on my nipples and it's me and a, and I do fever. No, I see you kind of already seen me do it.

• 6:17Speaker 04

  I do.

• 6:19Benito Skinner?

When you touch me. Feeble when you.

• 6:23Speaker 04

  It's a courthouse wedding. It's a courthouse wedding. He's the only guest.

• 6:26Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 6:26Benito Skinner?

It's the titty tassels are going. Yeah, exactly. I'm on the courthouse. They're dragging me.

• 6:32Speaker 04

I'm like, Mom and Dad don't have to find a town, but I do have a Boylesque performer.

• 6:35Mary Beth Barone?

  Boylesque.

• 6:36Benito Skinner?

Hey, so where can my Boylesque performer set up? He needs a green room. But it'll be, it'll be a big martini glass and me dumping whatever your favorite beverage is at the time. Maybe gin.

• 6:45Speaker 04

Wait, so we did our disclaimer and then we didn't talk on it, which is like, do you know?

• 6:49Mary Beth Barone?

No, we're gonna, we're gonna put, we're gonna put that before.

• 6:51Speaker 04

Oh, we're gonna mix and match.

• 6:52Mary Beth Barone?

  So it's the whole thing.

• 6:54Benito Skinner?

  All the episodes.

• 6:55Speaker 04

I know. No one tells you. Well, I was, I was talking to Bill the other day about like, when did, did you guys believe in Santa for actually a chunk of time or not? Because that to me was like, something that, when I found out he wasn't real, I was like, magic isn't real. And then I was like, and people lie to me. You know?

• 7:09Benito Skinner?

Yeah. It is quite a, that's quite a bomb. I remember my dad would dress up as Santa for like various houses. And one time he got a little lazy at ours. Yeah, he would like dress up as Santa, like very.

• 7:20Speaker 04

  But unrecognizably?

• 7:21Benito Skinner?

I mean, my dad had a wig before I did.

• 7:23Speaker 04

Wait, I understand. That can be shocking. And then you think, oh, what else are they lying about?

• 7:27Benito Skinner?

Well, my dad came in and he, he was like, he had tousled hair and I was like, Dad, was that just you? It was very, was that just you, motherfucker? Like, I was like, Dad? And he's like, Yeah. And I was like, Whoa. Okay. And then for.

• 7:40Speaker 04

He's like, you're getting everything he asked for, son.

• 7:42Benito Skinner?

Me that I was like, okay, yeah, I've been buying stuff this whole time. Also, it's why I think I'd be a bad, a beard. It's why I'd be a beard.

• 7:50Mary Beth Barone?

You're going to see Nadia again.

• 7:52Benito Skinner?

My last thing on Santa is it really hurt. And I will say, that's when all my world started crumbling and it was like, so the tooth fairy too. And then I will say the Easter bunny, my parents didn't sell him that well.

• 8:04Speaker 04

There was not one day where I thought a gigantic bunny was running around. The other ones we thought.

• 8:08Benito Skinner?

  Hey, what a sad life.

• 8:10Speaker 04

I know. I mean, I guess it was, I was sad, but also like, I don't know, to believe that, it's like, you would see them at the, like, you know, I think you would come across the animal.

• 8:18Mary Beth Barone?

  See them at the zoo.

• 8:19Speaker 04

You would, there wouldn't be a huge bunny that they wouldn't put in a cage. Like if they were hu, like, you know, that's what we do with stuff. Something is cool, we cage it. You know what I mean?

• 8:26Benito Skinner?

I do remember at school though, I said like, so Jesus isn't real either. And that's when all the teachers went, whoa, whoa, whoa champ. Let's take it back a notch. You know, I'm like, I'm like, well, if one plus one equals two.

• 8:37Speaker 04

I know. They're like, they're like, and Jesus won't be coming down your chimney anytime soon.

• 8:42Benito Skinner?

  Interesting.

• 8:43Speaker 04

I know. I started to add it up like that too. No, I remember visually looking out the window when I asked my dad and he's like, I don't want to lie to you. And I remember watching like the tear fall down.

• 8:52Benito Skinner?

  No.

• 8:52Speaker 04

Cause I remember just being so like, we're gonna have to rework a lot of stuff tonight before bed.

• 8:58Mary Beth Barone?

  It's tough.

• 8:58Benito Skinner?

What day was this? Christmas Eve?

• 9:00Speaker 04

It was us going to like a Christmas party. My mom bailed per usual mentally ill. I get it, girl. Love you to death. And it was me, my dad and my sister were going to like one of his work parties and yeah, it happened there. And then I remember like a little bit after is when I heard about Elizabeth Smart. And I was like, I'm actually glad I heard about that after because I remember being like, it was our, I was like, okay, a guy can't come down your chimney safely. Like if he comes in the house, it's gonna be scary. And then I heard about Elizabeth Smart and I was like,

• 9:23Benito Skinner?

  We are the-

• 9:24Speaker 04

  Definitely not real.

• 9:25Benito Skinner?

We are the children of Elizabeth Smart era.

• 9:27Mary Beth Barone?

Did a guy go down her chimney?

• 9:28Speaker 04

No, but he went in like her window.

• 9:29Benito Skinner?

He was working at the house and I know too much about this.

• 9:32Speaker 04

Me too. She looked a lot like me.

• 9:33Benito Skinner?

  Oh God, I literally-

• 9:35Speaker 04

  Should've known as a kid.

• 9:35Benito Skinner?

  Childhood is so fucking weird.

• 9:37Speaker 04

  No, I know.

• 9:37Benito Skinner?

Because I remember the day I got picked up from soccer practice and it was like, they found Elizabeth Smart.

• 9:41Speaker 04

  It was-

• 9:41Benito Skinner?

Like I remember that moment. It's so-

• 9:43Speaker 04

People are gonna tell me I'm wrong. They're gonna be like eight and a half. No, they won't because your Bronies rock. I lo-, oh, shout out to the Bronies. Y'all have been so welcoming to me, I just want to say.

• 9:50Benito Skinner?

  They love you so much.

• 9:51Mary Beth Barone?

They're the best community. I really love them. We love them.

• 9:54Speaker 04

I'm curious how, can I ask y'all on your own podcast?

• 9:56Benito Skinner?

Totally. I mean, we're an open book.

• 9:58Speaker 04

They're gonna have an open book wherever you want to go. I'm like, worst memory to date. No.

• 10:01Benito Skinner?

  I've got a few.

• 10:02Mary Beth Barone?

  We can talk about it.

• 10:03Speaker 04

No. I'm curious, because I've always been very nervous about forming like a specific fan base off of like who I am because I'm so nervous of letting them down or something, even though that shit's-

• 10:14Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 10:14Speaker 04

Do you guys like feel like, like how often are you thinking of what their reaction will be?

• 10:19Benito Skinner?

  Ooh.

• 10:19Speaker 04

Or do you not think about it very much?

• 10:21Benito Skinner?

  Are you guys listening?

• 10:23Speaker 04

  Is this annoying?

• 10:23Mary Beth Barone?

No, no. A lot of the time, I would say.

• 10:25Benito Skinner?

A lot of the time. I feel like we've created enough of a safe place for both us to make mistakes, have conversations about it and for them to as well. If somebody said something on like the Reddit or in the comments and it was like, you know, I feel like there's a conversation where it feels a little less trying to like catch each other or be mad at each other. So I don't know. I feel like-

• 10:45Speaker 04

It's like a warm fan base.

• 10:46Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 10:46Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, but I, I think also- It's good for us to think about how we're gonna be perceived by them because I do think they have like good judgment and they have high standards for us and I like that because then we hold ourselves to a high standard too.

• 10:59Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 10:59Mary Beth Barone?

It's like, we don't want to disappoint them, we don't want to upset them and we don't want to punch down, so I feel like that's been really good to have fans that we would hang out with. Like, sometimes I think about people who've gone really far in one direction of like their fans and it's like-

• 11:11Speaker 04

  Yeah, Austin, Texas.

• 11:12Mary Beth Barone?

  Austin, Texas.

• 11:13Benito Skinner?

  Of course.

• 11:14Mary Beth Barone?

  Exactly.

• 11:14Benito Skinner?

Kate, can we just keep Austin weird, by the way, now that you brought it up?

• 11:17Mary Beth Barone?

Would we want to hang out with them? And it's like, yes, and so I want to, and I think we both are really careful because we just want to like make them laugh and make them happy, not put them in a weird position to have to like defend us in the future, like, we are gonna make mistakes and so it's-

• 11:34Benito Skinner?

  You will, yeah.

• 11:34Mary Beth Barone?

Well, I definitely will. And as a woman, I should be put to death whenever that does happen.

• 11:38Speaker 04

And as a woman, we'll make sure and be loud about it.

• 11:40Benito Skinner?

At that point, it's ride with Penny Drama. It's a little different, the show's a little different. No, I, I agree. It's, I think how I will feel also if we get to do season two of Overcompensating where it's like, there's a group of people who have, they're like in expectation and excited and I'm like happy to both deliver to them, surprise them, and also probably let them down in some ways and at the end of the day make something that feels true and honest to me. Like, I think that that feels like what it feels like to make-

• 12:06Mary Beth Barone?

Well, that's why I ask because for me, like, I've done a lot of feeling from my codependency, which used to be like, all my worth came from my friends loving me the most, and it would be like, you want to stay true to your art as well and not just be like, I'm only giving them what they want and so I think that for season two, that makes so much sense to think about that, which we should.

• 12:21Benito Skinner?

It's sad to give sad news, though, but you do, I mean, you're like that, I think that's the sad part is being like, oh, this thing happened, like, I'm so bummed.

• 12:27Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, but Mary Beth, it makes everything funny.

• 12:30Benito Skinner?

  I know.

• 12:31Speaker 04

  Thank you.

• 12:31Mary Beth Barone?

It blows my mind, I told her that. She was like, when we hosted a show, she was like the worst woman possible, backstage, she was like, don't want to do it, and then literally went up there and was just like, so, so funny, loves everyone so much, and I just blows my mind because I feel like I'm either really silly goofy or I'll be like, I'm completely shut down. No, but I, for me, I've been through so much emotional trauma, like, since I've been a comedian, usually at the hands of straight men, and so I've just gotten used to performing- Under duress where I'm like, oh, I'm gonna cry. I cried the minute up to the second. It's like Katy Perry getting the text about the divorce before her biggest show of the tour.

• 13:07Benito Skinner?

Pardon me. It was Brazil, I believe.

• 13:08Mary Beth Barone?

  It was Brazil.

• 13:09Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 13:09Mary Beth Barone?

  And so.

• 13:09Speaker 04

Was it about with Russell Brand?

• 13:11Mary Beth Barone?

Russell Brand texted her while she was on tour with Teenage Dream and said, I want a divorce. She had to go and perform.

• 13:17Benito Skinner?

Wipes her eyes and gets up there and plays Teenage Dream.

• 13:20Mary Beth Barone?

So I've done that so many times. And so now I'm like, oh, I can kind of do anything.

• 13:25Speaker 04

No, that blows my mind. I don't have the skill of compartmentalization. And I'll tell you this, everyone in my life wishes I did.

• 13:33Mary Beth Barone?

  But you're here now.

• 13:34Benito Skinner?

Yes, but I'm here now. It's very Britney.

• 13:37Speaker 04

And honestly, sometimes when I don't compartmentalize and just come out and say it, someone else in the room would be like, thank God someone said it. But then like the five others are like, hey, you changed the vibe for everyone.

• 13:45Mary Beth Barone?

• 19:37Speaker 04

So what's going on with you right now? What's going on? Well, I'll tell you this. Yeah. Something is going on, which is yesterday, two things happened that were alarming. One, I was driving and a bird was coming pretty low to the car. And I was like, that's totally fine. It's a bird. So. It's very end times. Well, I was like, it will obviously continue on flight.

• 19:54Mary Beth Barone?

  Right.

• 19:55Speaker 04

I jam smack into the bird. Okay? And I'm a vegetarian, so even though you're seeing me laughing, I want everyone to know, like, I don't think it's funny. But what did happen was it didn't die. I looked back and. You're in the middle of your own horror film right now.

• 20:08Benito Skinner?

And we're a part of it.

• 20:09Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 20:09Benito Skinner?

Something crazy is gonna happen to you again.

• 20:11Speaker 04

Well, I was flying, like it was almost like, and I looked back and it was like, kind of like swerving back up in the sky. And that moment, I was like in a Pixar film where like all of the bird's friends were like, come on Louise. You don't even know. And like she just sucked up flying, but like she didn't die. So that was like definitely off.

• 20:26Benito Skinner?

I like that you went Pixar, cause to me it's horror film. And then the next thing is like you go in the bathroom and Mary Beth bashing your head against them.

• 20:32Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 20:32Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 20:33Speaker 04

She's like, I lost my bird. And I'm like, no, you had one.

• 20:36Benito Skinner?

And we see you later and we're like, you didn't come to the podcast taping.

• 20:39Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 20:39Benito Skinner?

What happened? Did you not tell, you know, like shit like that?

• 20:41Speaker 04

And at the end I fly.

• 20:43Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, you are a bird.

• 20:44Mary Beth Barone?

Well, yes, that's the thing. You transform into a bird.

• 20:46Benito Skinner?

Yes, it's, what's that movie, Birdman?

• 20:49Mary Beth Barone?

  It's Birdman, but it's a woman. It's Birdwoman.

• 20:50Benito Skinner?

  Shot in one take.

• 20:51Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 20:52Benito Skinner?

I can't wait for a one take movie to come out, you guys.

• 20:54Speaker 04

My one take movie where I sit down in one spot for a long time.

• 20:57Benito Skinner?

I've never seen a diamond in the flesh. I cut my teeth on a wedding, right?

• 21:04Speaker 04

  Yeah. In the movies, okay.

• 21:05Benito Skinner?

  In the movies.

• 21:06Speaker 04

And then, so I go, that's odd. Hasn't happened before.

• 21:08Benito Skinner?

  For sure.

• 21:08Speaker 04

But I was like, whatever. Then I'm having like, I was like, you know what? Okay. So I don't get much touch, but touch is my love language. But like ever since I had like, like four loves in a row, I was just like, you know, what if I don't do that again? And so I like, don't get as much touch as I need. And I'm like busy and getting work done. But then my therapist is like, you have to get a massage sometimes, which I'm like, you're already expensive, you know?

• 21:25Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 21:26Speaker 04

But I do. So yesterday I went to get a massage, right? And I've been having like, kind of some stomach pain, not contagious, but I have noticed it where I'm just like, okay, whatever. Well, I could say TMI, but I don't want to. But it's not even about poop. It's much more like something is wrong where I'm like, I'll get my period multiple times. I went to a doctor for it once and he told me every once a month, an egg drops, but sometimes instead of dropping, it will pop.

• 21:48Benito Skinner?

  Oh.

• 21:48Speaker 04

And then I accepted that as truth. It happened again. I looked it up. Nowhere to be found.

• 21:53Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, I've never heard that before.

• 21:54Speaker 04

Exactly. So he did like a Dr. Seuss tale to me. It's not real.

• 21:56Benito Skinner?

  That was Doc Oz.

• 21:57Speaker 04

That was, that was, that was a scary doctor, totally fingered me, found nothing. What a nightmare, right? Okay, we move ahead.

• 22:03Mary Beth Barone?

We have no choice but to.

• 22:04Speaker 04

We have no choice. This was years ago. It just started happening again. So I go, an egg popped. Right?

• 22:09Mary Beth Barone?

  Sure.

• 22:09Speaker 04

  Move along on my day.

• 22:10Benito Skinner?

  Mm-hmm.

• 22:11Speaker 04

So I go get a massage yesterday. And she's doing everywhere. She gets to my stomach and she's like rubbing in. She's like 50 year old woman or whatever.

• 22:19Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 22:19Speaker 04

And she's like, oh no, you know, and she's like, really hard right here.

• 22:23Benito Skinner?

I hate hearing that note. I'm like, I feel like I've let them down or something. I'm like, yeah, I'm tense.

• 22:28Speaker 04

No, we got, no, but on my stomach too. And I was like, I was like, no, I think something is like kind of up. And then she goes, she, because it kind of hurt for a second, I, I kind of squatted her hand for a second. I had a reflex, reflex. I just hit it a little. And she goes like this to me. She smacks my hand away and she goes, she goes, let me do my job.

• 22:46Speaker 04

Which I thought was so funny. So I laughed.

• 22:48Mary Beth Barone?

So you got assaulted twice yesterday. Once by a bird and once by a masseuse.

• 22:52Speaker 04

So then I laughed out loud and then yeah, she like stuck her finger so deeply in my belly button and was like going like deep in it.

• 22:59Speaker 04

She was like, she was like, does that help? No. She was like, let me do my job. And then I was like, she was so deep.

• 23:04Benito Skinner?

  She just, I mean.

• 23:05Speaker 04

And she was. And then she started going on like a 10 minute thing. She's like, you need to get your blood drawn. All this kind of stuff. And so then I left the massage feeling worse than ever, you know?

• 23:12Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 23:13Speaker 04

So that's kind of where I'm at today, but my stomach feels a little better today. And then right on the way here, I called my doctor. I called a doctor in LA to be like, hey, so eggs are popping and my masseuse says that my stomach is like worse than ever.

• 23:25Benito Skinner?

  Yeah. And I.

• 23:26Speaker 04

And it was an AI person. And she was like, I'll get you booked.

• 23:30Benito Skinner?

The bird's currently on your windshield. You're trying to get it off with the wipers.

• 23:33Speaker 04

And I'm just like, and I'm like Hollywood, city of dreams.

• 23:36Benito Skinner?

LA is feeling good right now.

• 23:38Speaker 04

But other than that, I do feel happy. I love my friends. I love a lot of things, but yesterday had an aura to it for sure.

• 23:46Benito Skinner?

  Mm hmm.

• 23:47Speaker 04

Aura. I said it like this, spelled like Rita instead of AU.

• 23:50Mary Beth Barone?

But it should be turning around.

• 23:52Benito Skinner?

  It is.

• 23:52Mary Beth Barone?

  It should be turning around.

• 23:53Speaker 04

Have you hit anything with your car? An animal? Person?

• 23:55Mary Beth Barone?

A deer ran into my car once.

• 23:57Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 23:58Mary Beth Barone?

I have five witnesses. The deer.

• 24:00Speaker 04

Five witnesses? Were you in a minivan?

• 24:02Mary Beth Barone?

I was driving, no, I was driving an SUV.

• 24:04Benito Skinner?

  School bus.

• 24:05Mary Beth Barone?

I was driving an SUV and we were going to Vermont and the deer hit the car. And I didn't hit the, it, the deer ran into the car.

• 24:11Speaker 04

  The car?

• 24:12Mary Beth Barone?

It dinged the car a little bit.

• 24:13Benito Skinner?

  Oh, God.

• 24:14Mary Beth Barone?

It hurt the deer more than it hurt the car, but it was obviously heartbreaking.

• 24:17Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 24:17Benito Skinner?

  I'm so sorry.

• 24:18Speaker 04

It shakes your day a little.

• 24:20Mary Beth Barone?

  For sure.

• 24:20Benito Skinner?

I swerved to miss a raccoon and then I got in a wreck. I got in a full fender bender and then I went to the ACT right after. I left the car there.

• 24:28Mary Beth Barone?

  That was that day.

• 24:29Benito Skinner?

Yeah, cuz I had to go to the ACT.

• 24:31Speaker 04

  That your score?

• 24:31Benito Skinner?

Yeah. It was terrible because I was.

• 24:33Speaker 04

What was your score? I got a 28.

• 24:35Benito Skinner?

I think it was like 27, 28 because it was just like not.

• 24:37Mary Beth Barone?

  You're saying that's bad?

• 24:38Speaker 04

I thought you were gonna be higher than that, Mary Beth. I'm not gonna lie. I thought you were gonna be 32. I got a 23 just to clear the air. So my sister got a 31 and literally my parents were like, do it again. And when I told them, they were like, you did so good. Yeah. Well. They go, they go. I did good for what I wanted to get, which was a 28.

• 24:54Benito Skinner?

See, here's the thing. I just, I'm a, I'm a freak. Like, I did the SAT until I got perfect on writing.

• 24:59Speaker 04

Me too. I did better at SAT.

• 25:00Mary Beth Barone?

  Oh, I didn't do SAT.

• 25:01Speaker 04

They made me take SAT class. I was like sitting in the back on Facebook on my phone. I was like poking people.

• 25:05Benito Skinner?

  I was giving people Adderall.

• 25:06Speaker 04

During the SAT? During the class to be better at SATs.

• 25:09Benito Skinner?

I took an Adderall before it and I still, I just like, I was so insane. I took an Adderall, then had a massive caramel macchiato from Starbucks.

• 25:17Speaker 04

  Fucking vibing.

• 25:18Benito Skinner?

And like a massive egg sandwich. I'd be like, ready for my SAT. Like, I was crazy.

• 25:24Mary Beth Barone?

That wouldn't have been that well with me.

• 25:25Benito Skinner?

I'm like in my Lacoste polo, just being a fucking psychopath.

• 25:28Speaker 04

  Well, no, because we're.

• 25:29Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 25:29Speaker 04

Did you struggle to sit still growing up?

• 25:32Benito Skinner?

I still like in a car, in a car, my ankles are at my ears.

• 25:35Speaker 04

No, I do too. And it's like funny cuz they wanted to do stimulants. Like, that's the answer is stimulants, but then it is like, okay, it helps my brain lock in. But then it's like, I'm still wanting to sort of vibrate around.

• 25:45Benito Skinner?

Same. Adderall's tricky for me though because it'll be like, I focus on something and then it's just actually, I'm like, yeah, I organized all my Spotify playlists. It's like, well, we didn't need to do that.

• 25:53Speaker 04

That wasn't what it was for. I've been, I've been working on this because so they prescribed it to me. I can't, you've never, like on season, I was never on it cuz I can't act on it. But on some of my admin days where it's like my life is like, look around, this is really scary, whatever.

• 26:05Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 26:06Speaker 04

My therapist has like begged me for a long time to do it. And so finally I do it, but she said this cuz I'll say the same thing. I'm like, great. I'm glad that I like, yeah.

• 26:12Benito Skinner?

I'm like, I looked through every.

• 26:14Speaker 04

I'm glad I know everything about Nina Garcia, you know?

• 26:16Benito Skinner?

  100%.

• 26:17Speaker 04

  Nina Garcia.

• 26:18Benito Skinner?

Oh, you had to know everything about Nina Garcia.

• 26:20Speaker 04

  Nina Garcia.

• 26:21Benito Skinner?

One time I literally just looked at every single belt that was on a website. It was like hundreds of pages on Farfetchd. And I'm just like, I'm gonna see every belt.

• 26:29Speaker 04

And like, what if I focus on my self hate?

• 26:31Benito Skinner?

Oh, that's such a good one.

• 26:32Speaker 04

But she was like, you need to literally pop it right when you have it there.

• 26:36Benito Skinner?

  It's fun.

• 26:36Mary Beth Barone?

  I've never done Adderall, so.

• 26:38Speaker 04

I love it. I'm on it right now. So I like locked into this.

• 26:40Mary Beth Barone?

  Locked into the convo.

• 26:41Speaker 04

  I am.

• 26:42Benito Skinner?

  I think you'd love it.

• 26:43Mary Beth Barone?

I don't know what would happen to me.

• 26:44Benito Skinner?

Maybe you wouldn't. I haven't taken it in a long time.

• 26:46Mary Beth Barone?

Coke doesn't do anything to me.

• 26:47Benito Skinner?

  Well, yeah, you relax.

• 26:48Mary Beth Barone?

I'm immune to Coke. It actually helps me sleep, if anything. I am totally immune to it.

• 26:53Speaker 04

You won't, then you wouldn't have it. I have, what do you take when you, oh, OxyContin? How it's supposed to make you go to-

• 26:57Mary Beth Barone?

What do you take when you what?

• 26:58Speaker 04

  Oh, I'm like, I'm like when you're a bullet on a Friday.

• 27:00Mary Beth Barone?

When you are addicted to heroin?

• 27:02Speaker 04

No, when you like get your wisdom teeth taken out. They'll give it to you.

• 27:05Benito Skinner?

  Vicodin.

• 27:05Speaker 04

Vicodin, yeah. Well, I think they give my sister oxy. Would that not make sense?

• 27:08Mary Beth Barone?

Maybe that was before they realized how addictive it was.

• 27:10Benito Skinner?

Yeah, they were giving oxy to like sixteen year olds.

• 27:13Speaker 04

If you stub your toe, they gave you oxy.

• 27:14Benito Skinner?

  Totally.

• 27:15Speaker 04

Cause then they'd get a bonus.

• 27:16Mary Beth Barone?

Stabbing your toe hurts, I guess.

• 27:17Speaker 04

All I can say is watch Dope Sick on Hulu, which is now becoming Disney Plus.

• 27:21Benito Skinner?

I got my tonsils out and they gave me liquid, whatever that was. It was, I think it was like oxy.

• 27:25Mary Beth Barone?

You're lucky to be here. I'm not kidding.

• 27:27Benito Skinner?

I went back to college and.

• 27:29Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 27:31Benito Skinner?

I was like, they're like, oh, you're not going out because of your tonsils. I'm like, oh, I'm already out, bitch.

• 27:35Speaker 04

I'm at a party right now.

• 27:36Benito Skinner?

I'm kind of at the party, sis.

• 27:38Speaker 04

Well, that's what's crazy with people about meth, because people are like, people who do meth are absolutely like gross, nuts, whatever.

• 27:43Benito Skinner?

  And dear media, clip that.

• 27:46Mary Beth Barone?

Okay, sorry, legally, legally, we have to ask you what you ride for.

• 27:49Benito Skinner?

  Yes.

• 27:50Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 27:51Mary Beth Barone?

  Wait, where are we going?

• 27:52Benito Skinner?

  Who cares? Ride.

• 27:54Mary Beth Barone?

Okay, just pick one. We're not doing two. Pick one.

• 27:57Benito Skinner?

See, hey, and hey, listeners. So every now and then on set, it would get heated like this among actors, among, amongst.

• 28:03Speaker 04

  Among actors.

• 28:04Benito Skinner?

See, you're a Nazi. We promise it's all love.

• 28:09Mary Beth Barone?

  It's all love around here.

• 28:11Benito Skinner?

  Yes.

• 28:12Mary Beth Barone?

Well, first off, I really do just ride for you two, so deal with it. Second one incoming. Okay, I ride for the movie Will and Harper. Okay.

• 28:21Speaker 04

I had never seen it and I watched it just the other night. And I was like, you know what? I want big time comedy bros to not just like donate privately to shit. Yeah. Like literally be like, watch me emote about my friend who is directly going.

• 28:35Benito Skinner?

  And be interested.

• 28:36Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 28:37Benito Skinner?

And take action and also use your privilege to make that movie happen.

• 28:41Speaker 04

Well, it's just one of those things where I was thinking about it and I was like, of course I empathize with a ton of trans people. And so do all of us in all of our community. Where I was like, Will Ferrell fans watching this movie.

• 28:51Benito Skinner?

  It's incredible.

• 28:51Speaker 04

Are gonna have like their first one ever. And it made me have this thing where it's like, yeah, so many people like do like a fundraiser or do whatever. And I'm like, that's all really important, but literally making like a genuinely entertaining film where like you get to watch him like cry about not standing up for her in the right places. Cause like standing up for people takes practice as we know.

• 29:06Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, cause he doesn't.

• 29:06Speaker 04

  For people a lot.

• 29:07Mary Beth Barone?

He doesn't get it right every time. And I think that's important for people to see and see that it's like, there's discourse. So you actually have to take the top off the water before you drink it.

• 29:15Speaker 04

  And Jared, that's.

• 29:16Mary Beth Barone?

And so I'm gonna make. And so I'm gonna make a documentary. I'm gonna make a documentary where I teach my friend Holmes how to drink water out of a bottle.

• 29:23Speaker 04

  Respect trans people.

• 29:25Benito Skinner?

No, literally, no, and then I'm over here, I go, do I put this up my butt? Is this up my butt?

• 29:30Mary Beth Barone?

And I go, Jackson, are we getting all this?

• 29:31Benito Skinner?

I'm so glad you're writing for this because I remember watching it and being like so affected by it. And also just feeling very proud, but also like they're both comedic geniuses. I guess, actually, can you describe it for anyone watching?

• 29:41Speaker 04

Will Ferrell and his longtime friend.

• 29:44Benito Skinner?

They were both writers on SNL.

They're both writers on SNL. And then Harper transitioned much later in life. And she basically wrote an email to everyone that she worked with before she had transitioned to be a woman. Obviously she knew she was a woman the whole time privately. She wrote it to like everyone she worked with and stuff. And I think a lot of them were like really shocked.

• 30:02Benito Skinner?

It's like the bro-y culture of like writers rooms and you know.

• 30:05Speaker 04

Right, like I remember in the thing it shows like Tim Meadows, who is now very supportive, but responded it like, kind of like bullshitting back, like thought it was a bet email.

• 30:13Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 30:14Speaker 04

And anyways, then Will was like, we've been friends for so long. I didn't know this about you. And Harper loves like dive bars and like small places in the middle of the country. Which I honestly really do too, growing up in the West. Like I love to get drunk at like a dive bar where you know, you're not gonna like get assaulted or something, you know? And which all of a sudden Harper's mind was like, am I not, I'm probably not safe in these places anymore. And so then Will was like, let's road trip across the country and like, go to all these places so you get, actually get goosebumps.

• 30:40Mary Beth Barone?

And have conversations too, because I think what's really nice about the level of friendship that they are, because obviously you shouldn't just ask any trans person, any question that pops into your head. They're good friends. So it was kind of like an open discourse where Will could ask these things of like, maybe there are stupid questions that a best friend can ask another best friend who's just come out as trans, but it felt like a very safe space for both people to have an honest conversation.

• 31:02Speaker 04

Totally. Well, because that's the thing is with close friends, there are no boundaries. I cross every boundary always, especially conversationally, not like in their room at night.

• 31:10Mary Beth Barone?

When you're touching people while they're asleep.

• 31:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 31:12Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, well, of course.

• 31:13Speaker 04

My scary grandpa used to always tell stories like that. He's like, I hid under his bed and scared him in the night. And I was like, how are women existing? But all this to say, yeah, I thought it was so beautiful to do that. And you could tell that also because Will's so famous, it gave Harper like, a huge safety net to be able to like go into places for the first time as a trans woman visibly and have, and like if something scary does happen, it's like, not only is a really huge famous celebrity cis guy here, a straight guy, but also there is like a camera crew, you know?

• 31:40Mary Beth Barone?

It was big for parents too, because it felt very accessible, because it was on Netflix.

• 31:43Speaker 04

  And Will Ferrell.

• 31:44Mary Beth Barone?

  And Will Ferrell.

• 31:45Speaker 04

We watch Elf every year and he does this.

• 31:47Benito Skinner?

I just wish everyone would watch it and realize that people are human beings. But I think that there is something very beautiful about the fact that a lot of those questions, again, yeah, are things that like, somebody, you know, if they're like our parents or somebody who just, they didn't grow up with seeing this.

• 32:01Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 32:01Benito Skinner?

As commonly fortunately as we have. So it's also being like, seeing someone else ask those questions and be like, yes, this is a human being and this is his actual friend and like being, you know, these questions that they're like, well, I could never ask, you know, because apparently I'm not woke. It's like, no, we never said that. You, you can

• 32:18Speaker 04

  Right.

• 32:18Benito Skinner?

find a space where it's appropriate to ask the question, this being amongst two friends. So it makes sense, but I think it allowed some of those questions to be answered. That unfortunately so many, I think people don't ask because they're scared of like fucking up or something.

• 32:32Speaker 04

We have to be less scared of fucking up. We have to be trying right now. And also, trans people have always existed. I think it helps with that too, of just like, I I thought two things from watching it the other day. I couldn't believe I hadn't seen it yet. I thought, one, so many people feel helpless and it's really cool to remember other ways we have power within our art. You know what I mean? Of just like, literally like, yeah, that showed someone's story so beautifully. That was my ride. That was my ride. And I like the power. I like, we are so powerful. And I think a lot of people are forgetting their power to change the culture. We change culture and I think that that affected the culture.

• 33:02Benito Skinner?

It's like just a really amazing piece of work, but yeah.

• 33:04Speaker 04

It talks about America. The one that was in like the, the, that had like fuck Biden and stuff flags in it, but then they were all really friendly to her. That one meant a lot to me too, because it's like, yeah, Biden didn't help a ton of the poor, even though Trump is 1,000% worse. We're in the most horrible territory ever. It like really does speak to like, oh, a lot of these people who are like brainwashed into supporting Trump are not bigots. They actually like fully just want to like have money and to support their family.

• 33:30Benito Skinner?

Yeah. Have you seen We're Here?

• 33:32Speaker 04

  No, what is?

• 33:32Benito Skinner?

It's on HBO. It's really amazing. So three drag queens go into different cities in the US that are like, you know, absolutely kind of

• 33:41Speaker 04

  Scary.

• 33:41Benito Skinner?

  scary and famously homophobic.

• 33:44Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 33:44Benito Skinner?

And each one, a drag queen is paired with someone who like either really wants to express themselves via drag or has had like a child come out and they have like a bad relationship with them. It's their like healing journey of them trying to be like, I'm trying.

• 33:57Speaker 04

  I want to watch that.

• 33:58Benito Skinner?

It's, if you love that movie, this is so, it, it just feels like that where it's, it's hard conversations are in every single episode. I can literally only watch like one a night because I just ball.

• 34:08Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 34:08Benito Skinner?

It's literally taken me like so long to get through seasons because I'm like, I can really only do one a week or a month because it'll be like, you know, a mom who was terrible to her daughter when she came out. So then she does drag and like invites the daughter and it's like the beginning of the healing of their relationship. But it's people understanding, they're like, oh, I fucked up. So it is that will thing of like, I probably have said things to you that really hurt you. And I'm, I'm coming to you being like, I'm so sorry and I want to learn and I love you.

• 34:33Speaker 04

And they're like something someone else told them. Like, that's so real. I mean, I remember in high school, my mom to me, like we knew a girl who was dating her first woman instead of a guy, like so a bi person. And I was young and my mom was just like, it's a phase. And it was one of those things where in my head, I was always like, okay, so like when you're kissing girls, that's like your face.

• 34:53Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 34:53Benito Skinner?

Yeah. It's the one, yeah, it's the one.

• 34:55Speaker 04

I was like, my face is getting longer and longer.

• 34:57Mary Beth Barone?

It won't stop. It won't end.

• 34:58Benito Skinner?

So there's, so there's this phase that's now in air.

• 35:04Benito Skinner?

  Welcome to Ride.

• 35:05Speaker 04

Yes, I love this so much. And yeah, I like that I'm a documentary person, but I like Will and Harper. That's my last thing I'll say is that I like when a documentary, they can't always have hope, but I really like when they have hope. And that one really did.

• 35:17Benito Skinner?

Yeah. Osea. So I am literally surrounded by the sea right now because I'm in Babe Cod and the secret to glowing skin starts in the sea. Undaria seaweed is the not so secret ingredient in Osea's best selling Undaria Algae Body Oil. Seaweed is a nutrient dense superfood packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help replenish the skin's moisture barrier and keep skin looking healthy. So I used this body oil the other day because I absolutely fried my body in the sun and my skin just gets really dry. Like it just, you know, it's like, it's sensitive. It's the whole thing. I'm like prone to dermatitis. It's like my cross to bear in a lot of ways, but I love covering my body in oil and then

• 36:00Benito Skinner?

posting like a really slutty image of myself online. And I think all of you should do that this summer or the last kind of, you know, a few weeks of summer here. And you know what's even more fabulous about this oil in Osea? It's clean, vegan, cruelty free, and it's climate label certified. Leo DiCaprio is fucking stoked on that. So here's what's really cool. It's rich, yet never greasy and clinically shown to instantly improve skin elasticity. It visibly firms and makes skin feel more sculpted and toned. Oh, wreck that body. And seaweed is packed with vitamins A, C, and E, and minerals like iodine, magnesium, and calcium, and free radical fighting antioxidants. God, I would have loved to have hear Mary Beth do that ad copy. I want all of you to get healthy glowing skin for summer

• 37:04Benito Skinner?

Picture this, you're going about your day when suddenly horrifying thought flashes through your mind. Maybe it's a fear of something happening to a loved one, a disturbing or sexual image that keeps replaying in your mind, and we're an urge to do something you don't want to do. I bet you guys are having fun hearing just me read these ads. It's very like a one man show in a lot of ways. It's my flea bag. So your heart races, your palms sweat and anxiety washes over you. You're mortified and you feel fully convinced that it's true, even though you know that it isn't who you are. But still, the question of, why did I think that? What was that? Am I a bad person? They start to consume you and you feel like you have to do something, anything to make them go away. Sound familiar, baby girl? Here's the thing about those disturbing unwanted thoughts. They're more common than you think. In fact, almost everyone has them, including queer as folks and overcompensating

• 37:49Benito Skinner?

any drama. But for people with obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD, me, hi, they usually cause a lot of distress and feel hard to stop thinking about. But I used NoCD. • 38:39Benito Skinner?

What an absolutely fabulous ride. Can we ask a few overcompensating questions before we go?

• 38:43Speaker 04

  Oh my god!

• 38:44Benito Skinner?

Just because people listening are going to want to know some Haley lore.

• 38:47Speaker 04

Thank you, people listening. I love Haley so much. She changed my life. Benny changed my life.

• 38:50Benito Skinner?

I mean, you are just a tour de force.

• 38:52Speaker 04

I rewatched my first tapes I sent in last night because I was coming here tonight.

• 38:56Benito Skinner?

Oh my god! You were brunette.

• 38:57Speaker 04

I was brunette and I honestly was proud of my look that I did.

• 39:00Benito Skinner?

This is the blonde ambition episode because I asked both of my favorite comedians to dye their hair blonde for TV.

• 39:06Mary Beth Barone?

  Legally blonde.

• 39:07Speaker 04

But I do think if they take your credit, I want people to know because people will be like, well Benny just picked you, right? And I'm like, actually, we had met at two different shows briefly and then he really just went off my audition. Like it really was not him, like, which also, as we know, Mary Beth auditioned a bunch, but it was like, no, he literally looked at my tape.

• 39:21Benito Skinner?

And I can't stress enough, Holmes and Mary Beth, the choices of scenes that you had to do for then the chemistry reads with other people, because you guys were pretty much set. So then it was like going to The other people that you had to, so you read with Carmen's. Holmes had to perform the candid campus contour monologue to a hundred times.

• 39:42Speaker 04

It became a song. It became a song to me.

• 39:43Benito Skinner?

Yeah, and I remember when, when we finally did it on set, it was so, I got to be there watching you and it was so disorienting, but also so. I was like, oh my God, it's finally on camera. But you doing that scene, I just remember that was the audition. And the best thing ever, which I hope you're okay with me saying this.

• 39:59Speaker 04

  Say everything.

• 40:00Benito Skinner?

The first time you sent in the Haley thing, we just thought it was a slightly too fast.

• 40:04Speaker 04

Yeah, you can do that for sure. They literally, this is not my first time. They sent it back. They were like, hey, so they're gonna have to do the same thing slower.

• 40:10Benito Skinner?

Just a few people couldn't understand what you were saying. We're just like, just in case when we send this up, we want to make sure everyone, no, but.

• 40:16Speaker 04

I would never be mad at that. That's always mine though.

• 40:18Benito Skinner?

It reminded me of when this girl in my high school won most dramatic, but then she didn't agree to pose for the photo. I still write for her to this day. Thus becoming the most dramatic of them all. She wouldn't even do the fucking photo. It was so major. Your understanding of Haley as being as fast as possible doing it was so Haley. It's like, well duh, you already had the part at that moment. It was incredible.

• 40:39Speaker 04

Well, I was watching the tapes last night and I saw like the ones I re like sent after and my note to my team when I was turning them in, I was like, I know I'm still talking fast, but there's no way we can get slower than this.

• 40:49Benito Skinner?

  Oh, totally.

• 40:49Speaker 04

That's the slowest we can do, sorry.

• 40:51Benito Skinner?

That's as slow as Haley Marie Matthews is gonna do, babe.

• 40:53Speaker 04

You're an artist. You're an artist.

• 40:54Benito Skinner?

  That's an artist.

• 40:55Speaker 04

No, but that is my note lots of times. I remember on the show before people would be like, so we didn't understand anything you said? Keep the energy.

• 41:00Benito Skinner?

No, but it was so, and like, I mean, fully, by the way, I understood every single way.

• 41:05Speaker 04

Yeah, I know you could. That's how my friends talk. Like, we're talking very fast, but yes, I understood. And no, I just can't tell to all the people listening, like, really, like, it just changed my whole life. I mean, Hollywood tries to put you in a million boxes, but we are also Hollywood and that's what's so cool about how we can change things. And you really did that with giving me this opportunity for real. I really mean it. Cause like, I just was never been able to be seen for a girl like that. And it annoys me because it's like, I'm an actor, not playing myself all the time. And I love her so much.

• 41:31Benito Skinner?

I mean, and you can feel that. I think that's too, it's like, there's no judgment of the way you approach the character. Like, cause I think I could tell in some people, like, when they would do a reading, they'd be like, you know, she's an idiot, or she's a bimbo. And I'm like, I'd never read her as that. And also, knowing the scripts later, I'm like, she's fully biochem. Like, this is the girl that can go out all night and in the morning, she like, does the test faster than anyone. Is like, that was easy. Bye.

• 41:53Speaker 04

  We should be saying.

• 41:54Benito Skinner?

  I have a party tonight.

• 41:55Speaker 04

I'm, the biochem thing was a genius of you.

• 41:57Benito Skinner?

Like, I remember, I mean, I knew Haley was loyal, but you came in the first day and it was just like, no, she's obsessed with Carmen. This is her family. And it was just like, this is my dream, that someone, please, fucking bleep that. But it's like, there's something really, I don't know, it really, I,

• 42:15Speaker 04

It's my favorite thing in the world. It's my favorite thing in the world to get a character that the creator knows so well, that then I get to live in. Cause this thing kept happening when people would ask me about Haley, where they'd be like, well, everyone knows a Haley. And in my head, I felt kind of insecure because I was like, I'll be honest, I didn't. Cause I was hanging out with like, a lot of weirdos in college in a different way. Like Mary Beth and I went through our college photos at our last show and Mary Beth was like, you were kind of 14 different people. And I was like, I guess, yeah.

• 42:40Benito Skinner?

  So,

• 42:40Mary Beth Barone?

Hard to see the through line.

• 42:41Speaker 04

And I was like, and none of them were at the sorority, right? And so, and not that Haley is either, but it was one of those things where like, I didn't have a lot of Haley's. And so, really where I got Haley was like, fully just from the page and like you describing her. And then I was able to be like, from the page, know what else could exist in her brain. So I just want to be like, Benny created this magical world that we got to play in and you'll never ever divide us.

• 43:02Benito Skinner?

I mean, oh my, do you have a favorite scene? I have my favorite scene of you. And I do think like, one of the most gorgeous shots.

• 43:08Speaker 04

  I have favorite, yeah.

• 43:09Benito Skinner?

But you ripping through the crowd at Charlie, I think is one of the greatest. Like, seeing that shot, I remember Mary Beth came to me.

• 43:16Mary Beth Barone?

I could not believe my eyes. I filmed it on the monitor. I was like,

• 43:20Benito Skinner?

I was filmed, you know, I was filming throwing up in the basement.

• 43:22Speaker 04

My close friend was like, watching you guys filming. Like, everyone's filming. It's like, how about you hop in and grab your phone?

• 43:25Benito Skinner?

  Get your phone out.

• 43:26Mary Beth Barone?

  Be supportive.

• 43:27Benito Skinner?

Kayla, get your phone out, sweetie. But I just, oh my God, I remember seeing that. I, I let out a witch cackle. Like, my laugh, it reached a different octave when I saw you ripping through the crowd. That was, it looked like you were gonna kill her. You were gonna kill Charlie.

• 43:41Speaker 04

I was blown away by, cause I remembered being like, Charlie, I'm a fan of Charlie, right? And so, and I didn't try to connect with her on set in a way other than like professionally, because I was just like, we only had that quick moment together. And I was like, but genuinely like, top two got me through a lot, you know? I'm like, there with this person I look up to, but then I was like, you're not here at all. I was like, you are Haley. And for some reason, she actually thinks she can go on stage. And I was like, I just remember in my head over and over being like, your friend literally abandoned you and You're going to make her so fucking jealous because you're going to be on stage.

• 44:10Benito Skinner?

You see it on your face, by the way.

• 44:12Speaker 04

Because I was like, if I actually acknowledge that that's Charlie and I'm Holmes, like, I will be too. I won't be able to do this.

• 44:19Benito Skinner?

And the anger here, fuck yourself, is literally.

• 44:23Speaker 04

  I want more of this.

• 44:24Benito Skinner?

It was so, I, I need, I need way more Haley Grace. It literally got seen the dailies. And I remember when, just like we were going through the script and I, I remember at the table read, I had been waiting so long to hear you say, looks like you've just seen a ghost. And when I got to see that, that's one of those things where you know in that moment that you've hired all the right people and that everyone you're doing this with is right because of how the camera pans out. And you're with the cop and you're there and the makeup is, oh my God, like Lorna, it was so genius. And you have that ponytail and the fish neck gloves.

• 44:58Speaker 04

It's everyone. Well, and Benny, who hasn't slept at all and is working every single second because he loved the scene, was like staying and watching monitor. And I remember being like, that felt so like heartfelt too. No, Grace is definitely the person who I knew, like I knew that girl in college. And I was like, Mary Beth nailed it so much. Like that was my favorite part of talking to other people who watched the show in my life is like, everyone really connected to a different person. But since we're short on time, I do want to say my favorite scene.

• 45:23Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, wait, yeah.

• 45:23Speaker 04

When I watched it, I watched it before alone to make sure, well, with my sister, which I can feel alone. But because I want to make my own impression.

• 45:30Benito Skinner?

She wasn't supposed to see it. Those were private screenings.

• 45:32Speaker 04

Yeah, you were like, you're like, bring her in. No. And I remembered being like, I think I'm like, like all my scenes, which felt really crazy, right? Because that's really rare.

• 45:40Benito Skinner?

  Oh, yeah.

• 45:41Speaker 04

But I think that episode two is coming out of rock bar. I knew you were gonna say that. Also because I, y'all both know this, I found out about losing a friend that day, right? But who was like, also worked in our industry and there was no, like, would want me, like, you know, to keep doing the day, whatever. But it was like so late at night and it was so silly. Mary, who worked on the show with us, the puke rig, can I say this?

• 46:02Benito Skinner?

  Oh, yeah.

• 46:03Speaker 04

So the puke, I'm supposed to put my head on the side of this parking meter and the woman is showing me and she's like, putting, she's kind of pushing my head. To make the rig work. She's gonna shout out of your mouth from that.

• 46:13Benito Skinner?

This is me, this is me bullying women. Because I, I literally was like, it should be, and I, I was there because I remember Holmes watching. She goes, yeah, and say that. I love that. Because I go, I want it to look like she's like the girl in The Exorcist.

• 46:28Speaker 04

  Yeah, it's projectile.

• 46:29Benito Skinner?

Is across the street and goes so far.

• 46:32Speaker 04

So then the woman whose job it was to sort of be in charge of the vomit comes and goes, we're out of vomit. And I go, that's the one thing we need to not.

• 46:38Benito Skinner?

So we used it on all the test ones. And then also there was a take where during the test one, I didn't know we were shooting.

• 46:43Speaker 04

  When I fell.

• 46:44Benito Skinner?

  I'm fully gay in it. I'm laughing. I'm like, I, I break fully. I mean, I'm terrible.

• 46:48Speaker 04

Well, we used you smirking a little, which is good, I think, actually.

• 46:51Benito Skinner?

Benny would have been like, that's fucking funny.

• 46:53Speaker 04

He was gay and it's like, you're gonna show it at this point.

• 46:55Benito Skinner?

  It's major, yeah.

• 46:56Speaker 04

Well, yeah, because I fell out there and then Mary thought it was an accident. I go, if I fall again, let's keep rolling, right? Yeah. But so I fall and then Mary comes up to us and she shows us a bucket of what the puke is. And she goes, you're gonna put this in your mouth. And I go, I need you to come back to me and I need you to tell me exactly what's in that bucket. And she goes back, she says something like, 99%, water. And then she's like, like turmeric, cocoa powder and pee or something like that. And she goes, is that okay? And me, I, both of I and Benny, I go, not really.

• 47:21Benito Skinner?

So, no, but we'll do it.

• 47:23Speaker 04

So it was like, it's so fun actually, and it was completely okay. And so then for the take that we used, that was the only, I think we only did it two, maybe two times.

• 47:29Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 47:29Speaker 04

Held it in my mouth and so then came out and I just, when I watched that.

• 47:32Benito Skinner?

  More realistic.

• 47:33Speaker 04

It's more realistic and I just honestly, when I watched Haley in that moment, I'm like, it's just a thing as an actor where you're like, can I do drunk well? And I'm like, I really liked how he did that.

• 47:42Benito Skinner?

Oh, when you go, really? See, everything worked out. That, see how everything worked out?

• 47:48Speaker 04

  That went throughout.

• 47:49Benito Skinner?

That went throughout. And then you and Nell.

• 47:52Speaker 04

And Nell was really good at playing back with whatever I did too. No, the whole cast was just really talented and it really does speak to like, because I know, I just know behind the scenes things. It's not always so easy. So I just believe that you fought for everyone in a way that I'm grateful for.

• 48:06Benito Skinner?

I mean, easy to, yeah, easy to be passionate about you guys. I also remember Nell, when she spins you, you're still kind of gyrating. So she was trying to kind of hold you. Somehow she does this thing where she goes, hi, to me going back in, which I'm just like, that is so. That girl like it was just so I almost cracked a gig because I was like that's so funny.

• 48:27Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 48:27Benito Skinner?

  Would still be like, hi.

• 48:29Speaker 04

Hi. That night to me is perfect. And also because my favorite thing about being on set is that it is like camp kind of like I like that we're like up late at night and that like you're allowed to feel so silly goofy and you're like at work.

• 48:39Benito Skinner?

Well, we're doing that while he's in that car.

• 48:41Speaker 04

  We are.

• 48:42Benito Skinner?

  She's in there.

• 48:43Speaker 04

  Party car.

• 48:44Benito Skinner?

Well, that's one of those things where I.

• 48:46Speaker 04

  You got me.

• 48:46Benito Skinner?

You write something in a script and you're like, oh my God, I, I, I would kind of get embarrassed because I was like, I totally forgot that was in it. And I think that this is so important to the story. And I'm like, I just did that to kind of give you, you know, a vibe. It didn't have to be that.

• 48:58Speaker 04

  No, it's important.

• 48:59Benito Skinner?

So this adorable man who like does the car rentals for the show comes up to me and he goes, I got you your car. And I went, what car? I'm like, what is he talking about? And he points to that Nissan, I, because I said, I think it'd be funny if it was a Kia Soul and it was green.

• 49:14Speaker 04

  Party one.

• 49:15Benito Skinner?

And he goes, they did green for you. I had it painted. And I was like, oh my God. And then he had lights put in. It was so.

• 49:20Speaker 04

But that detail is what makes the show so good, in my opinion.

• 49:23Benito Skinner?

It was so funny, but it was just like one of those things where it was like, he had just gone so above and beyond. That was, I agree. That was such a fun night on set.

• 49:29Speaker 04

And then at the end of, in the end of that episode, well, in that episode, that was my first cry of the show.

• 49:33Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 49:34Speaker 04

Right? Am I thinking of the wrong episode? That's you guys in parking lot or is that next? That's them.

• 49:38Benito Skinner?

Me and, yeah, yeah, it's, we go to the parking lot.

• 49:40Speaker 04

That was my first cry of the show because then obviously I cry episode five, but I remembered looking at Candace and being like, okay, so this show is like gonna get us here, you know?

• 49:48Benito Skinner?

What do you think of the fan edits? What's it like seeing Haley, Marie Matthews live out?

• 49:52Speaker 04

  A lot of things.

• 49:53Benito Skinner?

She would have loved all the, Paige Six loved her.

• 49:55Speaker 04

I've had this a few times where I think Haley would be disappointed in me and how little I am like self promoting and I have.

• 50:02Benito Skinner?

  Hey, she would.

• 50:03Speaker 04

  I know.

• 50:03Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 50:04Speaker 04

I know. And I want to say to anyone who does listen to this, because I do little press. First off, I didn't have PR. I was a recurring character. But second off, the truth is that like, I do feel overwhelmed when I see so much of my face at once, but it makes me so, so, so 10 times a million, so happy to see that I'm making people laugh and that people resonate with Haley. I have a hard relationship with like seeing my face so much. So it made me really, really happy. But then I was also like, I don't know. I didn't know how to interact with it so much. It's like this weird thing where like you want to be an actor and a comedian, but then like, we're in this new generation of time where so much of that is like, kind of promoting ourselves. So we're used to not be like that. So part of it is like PR does stuff, I don't have PR. But then second off is like. I think I'm also dressed in like for me now that you guys know me more it's like I'm kind

• 50:49Speaker 04

  of in full drag.

• 50:50Benito Skinner?

  Oh boy.

• 50:51Speaker 04

So for me, sometimes that was a little dysmorphic for me.

• 50:54Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 50:54Speaker 04

But never in a way where I'm crying or something more in a way of I'm just like it doesn't seem like me, but I love it. All that to say, I love the fan cams they and seeing how it made people laugh so much, especially during like, yeah, the world is so devastating right now. And I know we're all doing what we can to help change that, but a huge part of that is that we have to like, keep laughing and shit. And also I know Haley will be for the cause.

• 51:15Benito Skinner?

  Oh, of course.

• 51:16Mary Beth Barone?

I mean, speak up bitch challenge.

• 51:18Benito Skinner?

  I know.

• 51:18Speaker 04

Well, honestly, you might think of what's it bitch? Even when she says like silence, I'm a little bit like, no, literally on that.

• 51:24Benito Skinner?

She kind of spilled, you know, and say that, this girl.

• 51:27Speaker 04

No one knows that it was pouring rain during that scene.

• 51:29Mary Beth Barone?

  I know.

• 51:29Speaker 04

  In one take.

• 51:30Mary Beth Barone?

  I know.

• 51:30Speaker 04

  And same with the tailgate.

• 51:31Benito Skinner?

Same with tailgate. I mean, so much of it is like, we just, oh God, we shot so much. It makes me so sad because we were shooting a year ago today. So my phone is literally like cucking me every day. It's like, remember this? And I'm like, yeah, it was really fun.

• 51:42Speaker 04

I know that we can't talk about it too much, but I'm just like, every single meeting I'm in that is with people in our industry, they're like, where is it? Like, they're like, they're like, I just wanted to know, it's like the we like the show. Yeah, it was just amazing. I wouldn't change a thing. And if I wasn't on it, it would be my favorite show that's come out. Like, I just know that so intensely. I really mean it. You're literally so, so, so funny, so talented. You did the perfect cast and I want everyone to know I'm a [BLEEP] with Haley. I love your fan cams and I'm sorry that I don't know how to be a person on social media.

• 52:10Benito Skinner?

Okay, last thing I'm gonna say, because we are running low on time.

• 52:12Speaker 04

Mary Beth's late to something. What is it, a date or something?

• 52:14Benito Skinner?

She's gonna stab me in the gut.

• 52:15Mary Beth Barone?

Is it a date? Say if it's a date.

• 52:17Speaker 04

Yeah, I have a date. For?

• 52:20Benito Skinner?

Yeah, she has a date at four in LA. But I remember there's one scene that should have happened that we didn't get to do because for time, do you remember it was supposed to be you walking in with Zara bags and Benny there and I go, hey, did you guys get a letter? After I kind of have my like manic like, where's this letter? And I'm actually so glad because we would have had to do 100 takes because I'm supposed to say, will I see you at the tailgate later? And you go, oh, you'll see me.

• 52:42Speaker 04

  Oh, you'll see me.

• 52:43Benito Skinner?

And you have the Zara bags. I'm just like, oh, I miss it.

• 52:45Speaker 04

There's more to come. It's gonna happen.

• 52:47Benito Skinner?

  I hope so.

• 52:48Speaker 04

Well, yes, nothing official, but I feel, I feel it in my soul and.

• 52:51Benito Skinner?

  Haley is gonna.

• 52:52Mary Beth Barone?

  Haley will rise again.

• 52:53Benito Skinner?

  Haley will rise, him.

• 52:55Speaker 04

Haley will rise again. Hmm, bitch.

• 52:58Benito Skinner?

What's like, what's, what would be the perfect thing?

• 53:00Speaker 04

  Look, she's mad, she's mad.

• 53:01Mary Beth Barone?

I'm not mad, I just have dog hair on my leggings.

• 53:03Speaker 04

I'm trying to do your guys' voices you do on them, because I like when you do voices. Mary Beth is sillier on the pod than she is in day to day.

• 53:08Mary Beth Barone?

  Of course.

• 53:09Speaker 04

  Which I think is fun.

• 53:10Mary Beth Barone?

  This is this.

• 53:10Benito Skinner?

She's very, she's very fake when we come here.

• 53:13Speaker 04

No, no, no, no, no, no. Get this right, get this right. She's funny 24/7, but she'll let her like, a lot of time she'll be like, "Hey, day to day."

• 53:20Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah, it's a little voice.

• 53:21Benito Skinner?

Because I'm such a gay guy.

• 53:22Speaker 04

  What's your question?

• 53:22Mary Beth Barone?

  I'm in my safe space.

• 53:24Benito Skinner?

Oh no, I'm just thinking of what we could say at the end, that's like a perfect.

• 53:26Speaker 04

  A button?

• 53:27Benito Skinner?

  Button. One, two.

• 53:33Benito Skinner?

  Oh, my exit.

• 53:34Mary Beth Barone?

Benny babe, eyes on the road. Benny, go!
