MBMBaM 801: Bad Idea Blanket

This isn’t a celebrity-guest centric podcast at all, but we’re thinking maybe we can lure a famous mascot on if we fill our pockets with small stinky fish. Maybe that’s too forward. How about wing sauce? No, that’s too wild. I guess we’re just going to have to do a John Cougar Mellencamp impression instead. The McElroy brothers are not experts and their advice should never be followed. Travis insists he's a sexpert, but if there's a degree on his wall, I haven't seen it. Also, this show isn't for kids, which I mention only so the babies out there will know how cool they are for listening. What's up, you cool baby?

• 0:21Speaker 01

It's the start of something beautiful. A small acquaintance has blossomed, it's rapid into a precious friendship.

• 0:33Speaker 01

I could have never seen what was coming for me. Hangs at the skate park, hangs by the beach. My life, it feels like. Life, ah, it's better, it's better with you. My life, ah, it's better, it's better with you. This is true, ah, it's better, it's better with you. My life, ah, it's better with you.

• 1:09Travis McElroy?

Hello and welcome to My Brother, My Brother Me, an advice show for the modern era. I'm your oldest brother, Justin McElroy.

• 1:16Travis McElroy?

  Love is in the air.

• 1:19Travis McElroy?

  Whoa.

• 1:19Travis McElroy?

  Everywhere I look around.

• 1:21Griffin McElroy?

What's up, Trav Nation? It's me, your middlest brother, Travis Big Dog Wolf, Wolf Vroom Vroom, the heater, Cupid McElroy. Everybody's kissing on their dates. Huh. Going to the hot dog restaurant to kiss my girl. John Mellencamp? So, hi, everybody. I'm Griffin McElroy.

• 1:42Travis McElroy?

  Oh.

• 1:43Griffin McElroy?

The youngest brother and also John Mellencamp. Sorry. Do you guys want to do a bit where I'm John Mellencamp? I don't know. I'm super good.

• 1:49Travis McElroy?

Have you always been John Mellencamp?

• 1:51Griffin McElroy?

  No.

• 1:52Travis McElroy?

I've never seen you and John Mellencamp in the same room at the same time.

• 1:55Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, I don't know much about him, except the middle name thing. So if you guys want me to be him for a bit, I can try, like for a bit, I can try, but I don't think I would do a very good job of it.

• 2:05Travis McElroy?

Well, let's try. John, what kind of stuff goes through your head when you're writing a song about America?

• 2:16Griffin McElroy?

  I can't fucking do it.

• 2:18Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 2:18Griffin McElroy?

  I can't fucking do it.

• 2:19Travis McElroy?

Hey, Mr. Mellencamp, what's your? What is Griffin getting up to?

• 2:26Griffin McElroy?

  Well, well, Justin.

• 2:31Griffin McElroy?

I can't fucking do it, guys. I don't know how to fuck. I can't fucking do it.

• 2:34Travis McElroy?

You can't even talk about yourself as.

• 2:38Griffin McElroy?

Okay. No, cuz like, what's he sound, what's he do, what's he sound like? I know you had the, I know you had Cougar, but I don't wanna do a joke about that.

• 2:44Travis McElroy?

  In your head.

• 2:45Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 2:45Travis McElroy?

In your head, when you go to do an impression like that.

• 2:48Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 2:49Travis McElroy?

What I see is, and this is true, I see the person who I'm doing the impression of seated in an uncomfortable stool in front of me, staring at me, blank face, like, well, what have you got? What do I sound like?

• 3:05Griffin McElroy?

In that instance. About Jack and the. Is that him? It felt a little bit more like it was my birthday and I had been anticipating that my friends and loved ones were gonna throw me a surprise party.

• 3:17Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 3:17Griffin McElroy?

When I got home and then I opened the door to my front house, it took my front door to my house and then there's no one there. And that's what it feels like when I try to do an impression like John Cougar Mellencamp, or I don't know him. I don't know anything about the guy.

• 3:29Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 3:30Griffin McElroy?

  Huh.

• 3:30Travis McElroy?

I don't know either. I think he prefers John Mellencamp. I don't think he does the Cougar thing anymore.

• 3:34Griffin McElroy?

No, I think. That's again, the only thing.

• 3:36Travis McElroy?

It's an implied Cougar after the Mellencamp, I think, at this point.

• 3:39Griffin McElroy?

Oh, dude. I think it kicks ass. It's a silent Cougar in the middle. It's a silent. All Cougars are silent. I don't think it's particularly funny cuz again, it's like a thing, like he did this in like 1997, but I do wanna say like now it's 2026, like it kicks ass that you can just put the name of like a, a big mountain cat.

• 3:58Travis McElroy?

I've been doing it. I put Big Dog right in the middle of my name and no one said shit.

• 4:01Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, just toss him, toss it in there.

• 4:03Travis McElroy?

I just feel like with our audience, eventually, if someone hasn't done something in 20 years, we should stop talking about them.

• 4:10Griffin McElroy?

  Absolutely.

• 4:10Travis McElroy?

Do you know what I'm saying? Like, it's like, it's nothing personally against Mr. Mellencamp. I know he has his fans, but I just feel like we're not winning bonus points.

• 4:20Griffin McElroy?

  Dude.

• 4:21Travis McElroy?

This should be about Bad Bunny.

• 4:23Griffin McElroy?

Super Bowl, Super Bowl commercial with John Cougar Mellencamp, where he's like, and we're bringing back the Cougar. And maybe it's for Cougar Town reboot that is the coming to ABC's.

• 4:35Griffin McElroy?

Was Cougar Town the name of the real show, or was that the parody that?

• 4:40Travis McElroy?

Cougar Town was the real show.

• 4:42Travis McElroy?

Hey, Griffins, those were the same thing. They talked about the real show Cougar Town on.

• 4:47Griffin McElroy?

Oh, did they? Okay. I get it. I get it. Again, it's all gets mixed up in there. Empty surprise party.

• 4:53Travis McElroy?

  I, um.

• 4:54Travis McElroy?

I love you guys. I just wanted to say, I love you guys. We're recording this the day before Valentine's Day and.

• 5:00Griffin McElroy?

Oh, well, I don't feel that kind of love for you guys. I have so much love for you guys. Obviously, I built my entire, I built my life around you guys. There's a huge amount of love there, but not this kind.

• 5:10Travis McElroy?

I don't think it has to be romantic love to say I love you to my brothers.

• 5:14Griffin McElroy?

I, well, but you tied it to Valentine's Day, which is the, which is the romance holiday.

• 5:19Travis McElroy?

I would get Valentine's presents for my kids.

• 5:22Griffin McElroy?

It's like when people wish me Merry Christmas on Christmas. It's like, yeah, obviously. Why aren't you saying this shit in April?

• 5:29Travis McElroy?

Well, no one says Merry Christmas anymore. You know what I mean? Have you guys noticed that?

• 5:33Griffin McElroy?

Justin, spin me a yarn, because it feels like you're ready. You've got the yarn sort of tangled up in your hands and you're ready to present it.

• 5:38Travis McElroy?

  Like a kitty cat?

• 5:40Griffin McElroy?

  Like a kitty cat?

• 5:41Travis McElroy?

  What are you talking about?

• 5:42Griffin McElroy?

Oh, it felt like you were about to launch into a story and then we started talking about.

• 5:45Travis McElroy?

What is it that you people, what is it that people keep doing with me? You know, it's very confusing. Why are people doing this? People have been doing this with me the whole time.

• 5:58Travis McElroy?

Why is everybody trying to guess? Why is nobody just ask, you know? Sydney was talking about going to the store earlier and I was like, yeah, it sounds good. And she was like, well, you're not going. And because I have my arm thing and it's like, why don't you ask? See if I want to go to the store, you know? And then you're like, tell me about this yarn you got spinning. I don't make, I don't do that to you. I don't say, do your best John Cougar Mellencamp impression. You know what I mean?

• 6:21Griffin McElroy?

You did explicitly fucking say that.

• 6:24Travis McElroy?

  There've been mood swings.

• 6:25Griffin McElroy?

You completely, you completely entirely said almost those exact words in that sequence.

• 6:28Travis McElroy?

As a result, there's been light memory loss as a result of some of the painkillers that were used. There's been light memory loss and mood swings. I cannot be held accountable.

• 6:36Griffin McElroy?

Wait, do people know what you're talking about? You can't just talk about the arm thing.

• 6:39Travis McElroy?

This is not a big deal. I had a carpal tunnel surgery. It's a mild carpal tunnel release and a cubital tunnel release. I had a surgery on my, on my arm and my elbow so that I, my body would work the way it did before.

• 6:53Travis McElroy?

To open up all the tunnels.

• 6:55Travis McElroy?

  What?

• 6:55Travis McElroy?

  To open up your tunnels.

• 6:57Griffin McElroy?

  To widen them out.

• 6:58Travis McElroy?

My tunnels are open. Honestly, I haven't been able to game. I haven't been able to game in the way that I need to. If I game for more than 10 minutes, my hands fall asleep.

• 7:08Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 7:09Travis McElroy?

You used to do 48 hour sessions.

• 7:11Travis McElroy?

I used to, I used to poop sock through Fallout. I used to be the Master Chief's number one guy.

• 7:17Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 7:18Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 7:19Travis McElroy?

But not anymore. But so now I'm rebuilding. Like, like a lot of the great E athletes, I hit the showers. I'm taking some time to recuperate physically.

• 7:28Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 7:28Travis McElroy?

And then I'm going to be back out there.

• 7:29Griffin McElroy?

  Like rookie of the year.

• 7:30Travis McElroy?

  Currently healing.

• 7:32Griffin McElroy?

I'm excited for you. I'm happy you've had this done and I hope you have a quick healing and great results.

• 7:38Travis McElroy?

What a normal thing to say. Thank you, Griffin.

• 7:39Griffin McElroy?

I am a bit grateful that maybe this will spread out some of the comments that I largely get in our social media posts and video contributions to, to culture where, you know, for Juice, it's always like, someone give me my bib, big bro's looking like a snack yum yum. And Travis's is like, another great bit because unappreciated by his brothers. And mine are like, doesn't he look so tired? Look at his old gray, look at his old gray hair. If he has old gray hair, that must mean that I am also becoming older. Um, so maybe we can, I got, I just have heard from some people that we should spread those around.

• 8:18Travis McElroy?

So Justin reminds people of their sensuality. I remind people of their humanity and you remind people of their mortality is what you're saying.

• 8:24Griffin McElroy?

Exactly. And I'm hoping again, we can do more even.

• 8:28Travis McElroy?

There should be, there should be a cycling. There should be a cycling, a shuffling of their roles. Uh, let's, let's, let's help somebody. I've recently gotten to know another dad in my neighborhood because our children play together outside. While our children play, we stand in our driveways and just BS about random topics. Recently, we got on the topic of aliens, cryptids and conspiracy theories. And while on this topic, he let me know he isn't. Fully convinced we walked on the moon and there was a lot of interesting points suggesting it's all fake. Brothers, how do I convince this guy the moon landing definitely happened without him realizing? I'm trying to educate him on one of mankind's greatest accomplishments and that's from Neil DeGat and load of this guy in Austin.

• 9:10Griffin McElroy?

In Austin fills in a lot of blanks for me that I do feel like maybe the per capita moon landing denier rate is slightly, slightly higher there.

• 9:21Travis McElroy?

Well, what are these good points? I want to know, like, what kind of interesting points?

• 9:26Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 9:27Travis McElroy?

Well, I want to hear the evidence. I want to hear what this guy has to say.

• 9:30Griffin McElroy?

The flag waving, I've never heard a moon wind, have you Travis? And there's no explanation.

• 9:35Travis McElroy?

  Oh, fuck.

• 9:36Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, so there's no explanation for why the flag could be up because there simply is no moon.

• 9:42Travis McElroy?

Let's put it, let's say, let's put some parameters.

• 9:44Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 9:45Travis McElroy?

We definitely walked to the moon.

• 9:46Griffin McElroy?

  The moon landing was real.

• 9:48Travis McElroy?

I mean, we did. There's no question about that from the three of us, right?

• 9:51Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 9:51Travis McElroy?

We definitely walked to the moon.

• 9:53Griffin McElroy?

  I will say.

• 9:54Travis McElroy?

Now, see, I do want to get the.

• 9:56Griffin McElroy?

  I will say.

• 9:57Travis McElroy?

Let me get these guardrails in place if you just let me get these guardrails.

• 9:59Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, go ahead and get the guardrails.

• 10:01Travis McElroy?

We definitely walked to the moon. There's no question about that from any of the three of us.

• 10:05Travis McElroy?

I mean, that's assuming the moon's even real.

• 10:07Griffin McElroy?

Well, okay, that's obviously, that's very, that's very silly and I do appreciate you making it all seem silly.

• 10:13Travis McElroy?

Oh, really? Have you seen Truman Show where Ed Harris is up in the moon and he's watching Truman? Oh, and what movie was Ed Harris also in? Apollo 13? Uh, the clues are all there, Griffin.

• 10:24Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, no, you got a good point, Westworld.

• 10:28Travis McElroy?

  Westworld, thank you.

• 10:30Griffin McElroy?

What a storied career that man has had.

• 10:32Travis McElroy?

Truman Show, true moon, the truth of the moon.

• 10:35Griffin McElroy?

True moon, real Ed Harris up watching us jerking it always. Yeah.

• 10:42Travis McElroy?

That's the mnemonic device I use to remember.

• 10:45Griffin McElroy?

We absolutely landed on the moon. I, when I go to the Air and Space Museum here in Washington DC, a tear comes to my eye every time I even think about the moon. Um, it's a little weird. We haven't gone back in like 50 fucking years.

• 10:58Travis McElroy?

Nothing's changed there though. Like if I went to a movie theater and saw a movie in 50 years, the movie theater was showing the same movie. I'm not like a dying to go.

• 11:07Griffin McElroy?

Folks, you don't have to hit. I know the reason, I know there's reasons why, but it's a little suspect. Don't you 50 years? Don't you think someone would have accidentally landed on the moon at some point?

• 11:17Travis McElroy?

I think it is. The only thing that I think is weird is that is that every, especially now, all the other countries just kind of trusted us to say what's up there. Like I would want to go up there myself, not to say you didn't, but I want my own butchers up there. Look around for rocks, maybe get one huge rock that I'll name after myself.

• 11:38Travis McElroy?

Do we know what the moon smells like?

• 11:42Griffin McElroy?

Well, there's no, there's no air, but I do, but we have brought the moon back to earth and it's probably huffed it good. Like, you know, there was probably a lot of experiments.

• 11:50Travis McElroy?

Oh yeah. What is, what does moon smell like?

• 11:52Griffin McElroy?

They were probably like, let's see if we can get fucked up on this.

• 11:55Travis McElroy?

This is gonna take me so long to Google because I only have one hand. So be patient.

• 11:59Travis McElroy?

Here's my thing, even if I didn't know any of the science or history about the moon landing.

• 12:04Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 12:05Travis McElroy?

I can tell you it's real because it's been like 50 years and that would be an exhausting conspiracy to have to keep denying and explaining.

• 12:15Griffin McElroy?

  50 years.

• 12:15Travis McElroy?

Especially as you passed it like to different like generations of people. I'm like, now it's your job to keep lying about this thing we did. Please don't tell anyone.

• 12:26Travis McElroy?

It's acrid, like ashes in a fireplace.

• 12:30Griffin McElroy?

Whoa, that's cool. I wouldn't think that because I would think the moon is cold. And so I wouldn't think fireplace, but I love that smell.

• 12:38Travis McElroy?

  That's awesome.

• 12:39Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, it's cool. It'd be cool to have a piece of the moon, I think.

• 12:43Travis McElroy?

Well, yeah, a glowing piece of that radical rock?

• 12:46Griffin McElroy?

No, I think like, it's obviously probably not ethical because it's like, you're not supposed to pick up rocks in nature and bring them home. And the moon is like the most, the moon is like the most natural thing that there is because like only two, two dudes have been on it. I think the moon landing is real because of how mad Buzz Aldrin gets when you say it is not.

• 13:05Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 13:06Griffin McElroy?

I don't think, uh, I don't think that anger could come from such a pure place if he knew it was all soundstage, no moon wind, phony baloney bullshit.

• 13:17Travis McElroy?

  That's true.

• 13:17Griffin McElroy?

  He really.

• 13:18Travis McElroy?

  He wouldn't have the guts.

• 13:19Griffin McElroy?

He beats ass. He's beat it. He's beat it ass before and I don't know if he's alive or not alive. Juice, can you Google that for me real quick? Buzz Aldrin alive or not?

• 13:26Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 13:27Griffin McElroy?

Um, but he gets so mad and he's like, it's ass beating time.

• 13:30Travis McElroy?

Two Z's next to each other are a big help because I don't have to go. And he's old enough now that if it was a lie, he'd be like, yeah, fuck it. Whatever.

• 13:37Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 13:37Travis McElroy?

  Who cares?

• 13:38Griffin McElroy?

For sure. Who gives a shit, man? We were in Pasadena.

• 13:42Travis McElroy?

The moon of the earth. He's alive right now. 1930 until question mark. Ooh, that's like a fun party. No, that's like implied. He's 96.

• 13:55Griffin McElroy?

Oh, okay. I thought Wikipedia said till question mark, which felt, which had this sort of enigmatic.

• 14:00Travis McElroy?

No, that's implied. It's an implied question mark that we all. Yeah. I mean, I, I think that it's, oh, I, you know, this is, this is why I wanted to put these guardrails on here because I do think it's okay for everybody to have a little.

• 14:16Griffin McElroy?

For this kind of stuff specifically, this is borderline. I'd not anything. Don't you think this is about as far as it should go?

• 14:25Travis McElroy?

Well, cause yeah, I'm just saying that they're not out there. They're not out there crowing about it. They don't wear a shirt about it. I think, I think we need to have in our hearts room for that. Because I think that everybody, there shouldn't be forced into group think just because it makes other people uncomfortable, right? But you also, if you have a bad idea, you shouldn't tell people about it.

• 14:54Griffin McElroy?

  You should not tell people.

• 14:54Travis McElroy?

But I think you have the right to hold it. This person let you get several conversations in before they showed you their one little thing that they know isn't perfect.

• 15:05Griffin McElroy?

They know it's wrong. Like, I fully believe.

• 15:08Travis McElroy?

  They know it's wrong.

• 15:09Griffin McElroy?

Like anybody who brings it up has never said it with the confidence of a fact. They're like, and I think, and I guess what I'm saying is.

• 15:19Travis McElroy?

  Leaving the door open too.

• 15:20Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 15:21Travis McElroy?

You know? It's it's cute. It's like, everybody can have a little one. I don't know.

• 15:28Griffin McElroy?

Just a little one, like talking about it. A little, not any more, again, I must stress, don't have a little one that's worse than this.

• 15:35Travis McElroy?

No, I have feelings about ghosts that maybe aren't mainstream, but it's fine. Let me talk about the problem with the government. Sure. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah.

• 15:45Griffin McElroy?

Do I have to, can I turn my camera off while you do?

• 15:48Travis McElroy?

No, it is fine for for you to have these bad ideas. What we have done accidentally here, like this person, it says, I don't know about the moon thing. What our current government presupposes is what if we take that person and put him in charge of moon shit? And this is where the breakdown is, right? Because there's all these bad idea people that are in charge of things now, which has turned us all against bad idea people, you know? You used to be able to, all I'm saying is you used to be able to enjoy bad idea people for their bad ideas. Because there wasn't some worry that someone would be like, yeah, I'm not sure vaccines work. And someone would be like, hey, I heard that. You want to be in charge of vaccines? Like, that's the world we live in now. It used to be okay to have bad ideas. You used to be able to enjoy them. It used to be people were just cranks, you know?

• 16:33Travis McElroy?

It's wrong. You can just do that.

• 16:35Griffin McElroy?

  Cranks, wrong headed cranks.

• 16:37Travis McElroy?

He doesn't believe we landed on the moon. Ha, ha, ha. What a character. It doesn't have to, yeah, it didn't have to be, and he doesn't believe vaccines are real. And he's also in charge of the DHHR. And it's like, why? That's not the fun part.

• 16:52Griffin McElroy?

There used to be a decent dragnet that would catch bad idea folks from running the organizations. But now they just have hearings for them. It's like, I saw you say this bad idea on X, the everything website that is specifically about this thing you're going to be running. Do you feel that? And then they'll be like, nope. And then all of us would be like, sounds good. You're in charge now. And then they're like. Pranked, pranked you.

• 17:17Travis McElroy?

I just think it's a bummer that people can't have bad, wrong ideas anymore just because those have gotten us into such hot water. You know what I mean?

• 17:25Travis McElroy?

Sure. Just quiet, harmless, bad ideas that they keep to themselves. And it's like you get a drink in them and they're like, "Yeah, but the moon thing." And you're like, "Todd, Todd, Todd."

• 17:39Griffin McElroy?

Cause once, I feel like moon landing is a kind of bad idea that you can have that then isn't necessarily a gateway drug to like 50 other bad ideas that I suddenly now know that you have. Flat Earth is one where that's interesting because you would think it's about the same thing, but when I hear that you have that bad idea, I'm immediately like, "Oh, I know nine other bad ideas you got."

• 18:00Travis McElroy?

You are sorted. You are sorted away. That's very true, Griffin. That's a good, that's a good point. And there are lines and there are borders. I am just saying, it is the fact that this person has a wrong idea doesn't intrinsically hurt you. What's hard is that we've been so hurt by so many bad ideas lately that we're all so gun shy about people who possess them. It should be okay for people to hold and treasure bad ideas that they do not act on. That's very sad that we don't have room for that anymore, but I understand it, right?

• 18:34Griffin McElroy?

  Right, absolutely.

• 18:36Travis McElroy?

Because as you say, Griffin, there is the fear that this one little thread, you pull at this one bad idea thread.

• 18:41Travis McElroy?

And the whole bad idea blanket that falls out.

• 18:44Travis McElroy?

  Right.

• 18:45Travis McElroy?

  You're like, "Oh, no."

• 18:46Griffin McElroy?

  Oh, boy.

• 18:47Travis McElroy?

  It's weighted too. Aw, man.

• 18:50Travis McElroy?

  Aw, no.

• 18:51Griffin McElroy?

Send him, send him to me. Send him to the Air and Space Museum with me for a day trip.

• 18:56Travis McElroy?

  Griffin'll send him, right?

• 18:57Griffin McElroy?

I'll send him fucking right. I'll teach him all about the Wright brothers.

• 19:00Travis McElroy?

Griffin will make him smoke a whole pack of the moon. You know what I mean?

• 19:03Griffin McElroy?

I'll make him smoke, I'll make him smoke a fucking fat blunt with me in the bathroom at the Air and Space Museum. They are.

• 19:09Travis McElroy?

  Just talking about bad ideas.

• 19:11Travis McElroy?

Buzz Aldrin smoking a huge blunt.

• 19:13Griffin McElroy?

Getting Buzz Aldrin in the bathroom of the Air and Space Museum. It's the one museum they let you fucking blaze. It's the one museum where they let you blaze.

• 19:21Travis McElroy?

You've seen the space now, have some air.

• 19:23Griffin McElroy?

  Yep, absolutely.

• 19:24Travis McElroy?

You know why people get that way about the moon landing really though, right? Cause they're not allowed to go.

• 19:29Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah, it sucks.

• 19:30Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, it's fair.

• 19:31Travis McElroy?

If you're mad, you wanna think, you wanna decide that nobody went. Cause it sucks so hard that like eight guys went. That sucks, right? It would be better if nobody went. That's more fair, but I'm sorry, it just didn't shake out that way. Apologies. How about another question? Should I like that?

• 19:48Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 19:49Travis McElroy?

I would, I would have liked a little bit more enthusiasm.

• 19:53Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 19:54Travis McElroy?

  Yep.

• 19:56Travis McElroy?

I have gotten the opportunity in a few weeks to go meet some penguins. The event description says the penguins have personalities and will choose who in your group to interact with independently. Brothers, I desperately crave validation, especially from our animal friends.

• 20:09Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 20:09Travis McElroy?

How can I become the favorite human of these waddling little guys over my friends and family and that's flightless in February?

• 20:17Griffin McElroy?

Other than touch a hundred sardines, like that, that one's pretty obvious.

• 20:21Travis McElroy?

Sardines in your pocket is good.

• 20:24Griffin McElroy?

Sardines in your pockets is not good.

• 20:25Travis McElroy?

  Search for that.

• 20:26Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, cuz they, they will check you. If you already got the stink on your hands, there's nothing they can do about that, but they do, they will check you for small.

• 20:33Travis McElroy?

And you don't want to get swarmed either. Like suddenly the penguins eat your pants off. Oh my god.

• 20:38Griffin McElroy?

Rock hoppers trying to gobble my balls off.

• 20:41Travis McElroy?

Have you guys seen the videos that pop up on my for you page cuz I love animals of like, we had an adoption event where the dogs chose the people. They would go and they let like a dog into like the lobby of the audit and there's like people sitting around and the dog, like they go up and they get excited about one person and they go home. And I always think about, they never show the opposite side of that where there's like one guy left at the end of the event and no dog chose. And he's like, well, I guess.

• 21:09Griffin McElroy?

Mr. Beast, Mr. Beast will get him.

• 21:12Griffin McElroy?

Mr. Beast won't let him go, go home hungry.

• 21:15Travis McElroy?

I don't think that Griffin, I don't think it's a hungry thing. He can raise. Maybe he can have a rock.

• 21:21Griffin McElroy?

And also there, there must be something wrong with that guy. If, if a hundred dogs decided they didn't want to go home with them, they could probably sense some justice.

• 21:28Travis McElroy?

  Sense danger.

• 21:29Travis McElroy?

I put a hundred dogs and a hundred perverts into one circle. Is there an attitude that one could project? Cause you don't want to be too eager for it, obviously.

• 21:41Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 21:41Travis McElroy?

Right? And you don't want to seem like you're making fun of the penguins cuz they smell that on you just like sardines.

• 21:47Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 21:48Travis McElroy?

But you also don't want to be too aloof.

• 21:50Travis McElroy?

  That's their thing.

• 21:51Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 21:53Griffin McElroy?

They're among our most aloof birds.

• 21:56Travis McElroy?

That's why everybody likes him so much. They don't need us.

• 21:58Travis McElroy?

Yeah, if they were hungry for it, if pigeons were constantly like trying to get your attention, you don't want that, right?

• 22:05Griffin McElroy?

You also don't want one of those crazy looking penguins to come for you, right?

• 22:09Travis McElroy?

  With big eyebrows?

• 22:10Griffin McElroy?

Oh, what is that? A rock, rock hopper penguin? Is that the emperor? I thought the emperor was just sort of the thick lad, the big, thick, tough lad.

• 22:19Travis McElroy?

Oh, if you have a kid, bring the kid with you and like kind of sit on top of your kid. And then the penguin sees that and they're like, that's what we do too.

• 22:27Griffin McElroy?

  That's my jam. Awesome.

• 22:28Travis McElroy?

We got something to talk about.

• 22:30Griffin McElroy?

  I do it like this.

• 22:31Travis McElroy?

Show me how you sit on your kid.

• 22:33Travis McElroy?

  We have eggs.

• 22:34Griffin McElroy?

You seen Surf's Up? We didn't like that one. We thought that that was bullshit, actually.

• 22:39Travis McElroy?

  For Happy Feet.

• 22:40Griffin McElroy?

Happy Feet rules. We do do that in real life, but Surf's Up is fucking Hollywood bullshit.

• 22:45Travis McElroy?

I'm just, okay, if I was a penguin and you showed me Happy Feet and you showed me Surf's Up and Happy Feet results in a penguin dancing to make human beings happy.

• 22:56Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 22:56Travis McElroy?

Versus a movie where a penguin from the Arctic follows his surfing dreams.

• 23:01Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 23:02Travis McElroy?

Griffin, I think you've got history wrong here. I think I know exactly as a penguin which film I would support.

• 23:08Travis McElroy?

I bet every fucking penguin has a story about a relative who is in March of the Penguins, right?

• 23:15Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 23:15Travis McElroy?

Oh, yeah. Every penguin's like, oh yeah, my brother Dave, you know, the one guy falls off the ice floe at the one point and then comes back up and everybody's like, all right, that's my cousin Dave, actually. It's crazy.

• 23:25Griffin McElroy?

The one that dropped the egg and was like, oh, fuck. That was Dave.

• 23:28Travis McElroy?

That was my, that was actually my uncle, Dave.

• 23:30Griffin McElroy?

That was my brother in law, Dave.

• 23:32Travis McElroy?

  He's in that flick.

• 23:32Travis McElroy?

When you meet the penguins, if you said, and I mean, I watched March of the Penguin, do you think the penguins like that or not? It just seems too hungry?

• 23:41Travis McElroy?

You're trying, you're trying to understand their culture, but it's like you did it in the most lazy, spoon fed way possible. They don't know if they're in March of the Penguins. They don't have movie theaters. You know what I mean?

• 23:51Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 23:52Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 23:52Travis McElroy?

  That's our, that's our thing.

• 23:54Travis McElroy?

Talk to them about Severance. I bet penguins love Severance.

• 23:56Griffin McElroy?

Now, that's cool. You guys haven't seen this, so like, I'm, I'm not gonna tell you about some movie that's like about you and your life.

• 24:03Travis McElroy?

Yeah, you don't want to hear that.

• 24:03Griffin McElroy?

Like Surf's Up, but there's this kick ass show on Apple TV. It stars Al Scaut.

• 24:08Travis McElroy?

I feel like though, if you, if you, it's gotta be a show that's done. It's gotta be a full arc, because if you get to like where they're at in Severance right now.

• 24:18Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 24:18Travis McElroy?

  They're gonna be like, and?

• 24:20Griffin McElroy?

  And then what?

• 24:20Travis McElroy?

  I don't actually know.

• 24:21Griffin McElroy?

  I can't tell you.

• 24:22Travis McElroy?

And don't start with Supernatural. That's 15 seasons. There's no way you're getting through that.

• 24:27Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 24:28Griffin McElroy?

You went two tops in and out. One of them, one of them Netflix dramas that they didn't give much of a shot after that. Just get in and out. Penguins love that shit.

• 24:36Travis McElroy?

I think you could do Walking Dead, and then that's fun, because there's like spin offs of that. But if they're into that, you're like, and I'll be back. If you guys want, I can come back.

• 24:45Travis McElroy?

If you want more, there's more we can produce.

• 24:47Travis McElroy?

I can tell you more about the Walking Dead universe.

• 24:51Griffin McElroy?

Lay down on the ground, on your stomach.

• 24:53Travis McElroy?

  Hmm.

• 24:54Griffin McElroy?

Lay down on the ground on your stomach and look down at the ground. If I was a penguin and a bunch of humans, anytime a bunch of humans walks in the room, I would be like, what the fuck is going on? These giants who are six to 10 times bigger than I am. Um, what do they fucking want from me? So I love that they, the small fish they bring me kicks ass, but like, I don't see any-

• 25:19Travis McElroy?

By the way, the penguin may not think of it that way.

• 25:22Griffin McElroy?

  What do you mean?

• 25:22Travis McElroy?

  Because they're so small.

• 25:24Griffin McElroy?

  Oh, they want big fish?

• 25:25Travis McElroy?

Well, they don't see it as a small fish.

• 25:27Griffin McElroy?

Oh, to them, a sardine is like a big fish. That's wonderful.

• 25:29Travis McElroy?

It's not a big fish, it's just like a fish.

• 25:32Griffin McElroy?

  Oh shit.

• 25:32Travis McElroy?

You know what I mean? Like, yeah. It's just like to them, because they're so much smaller, that's like a good fish. If you brought out a normal fish to us, to them, that would be giant and ridiculous.

• 25:41Griffin McElroy?

To them, it's like a, sardine is like a tilapia fish.

• 25:44Travis McElroy?

Yeah. You don't have to, like, I feel like by introducing that comparison, you're inviting a lot of like flavor and texture stuff. But it's just like a size thing. It's just like to them, it's a regular sized fish.

• 25:55Travis McElroy?

  And it's reductive.

• 25:56Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 25:56Travis McElroy?

I think you could bring in a video of you like beating up a walrus or an orca or something. And I think that penguins are gonna love that, right?

• 26:04Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 26:04Travis McElroy?

Like, I'll tell you, Travis, the first half of that sentence, I could not remember what this question was. I was on pins and needles.

• 26:10Griffin McElroy?

  Awesome.

• 26:10Travis McElroy?

  I can't, it's crazy, man.

• 26:12Griffin McElroy?

  That's cool.

• 26:12Travis McElroy?

You really pulled it out, though.

• 26:14Travis McElroy?

To be fair, I couldn't imagine where you were going for a second. It would work in a lot of social situations to make you at least very interesting to people.

• 26:21Griffin McElroy?

I kick this walrus. Yeah, the only situation it would do bad for is if you are trying to impress a walrus. Although even a walrus, I think if you beat the shit out of a walrus and you show that video to a walrus, they'll probably be like, whoa, damn.

• 26:33Travis McElroy?

I mean, a pocketful of sardines is probably gonna make you some friends in most crowds, right? Like, that's a good one to have no matter what.

• 26:39Griffin McElroy?

They will check you. They will check you for, we did say, we did establish at the top that they will check you.

• 26:44Travis McElroy?

No, Justin's saying, in a variety of social situations, outside of penguins, even.

• 26:48Travis McElroy?

A pocketful of sardines, if it was just your natural sort of like, it's sort of like Tom Baker doing with Jelly Babies, just like having them as like a,

• 26:54Griffin McElroy?

  Well.

• 26:55Travis McElroy?

Some people call it a what's it, just like a something that'll get the conversation going.

• 26:59Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, but you don't want a stinky, you don't want a stinky what's it. You don't want a stinky soggy what's it. Tom Baker wasn't walking around with one bulging, stinky, rotten pocket. And people were like, what's your fucking deal? He's like, I'm an immortal time-space traveler. And they're like, that's cool, but man, holy fuck.

• 27:17Travis McElroy?

  Do you like a sardine?

• 27:18Griffin McElroy?

No. Oh, is that what that is? Jesus Christ, what do you have? Do you need those for like your sardines at the dawn of time? Gross. That sucks, dude. That's gross.

• 27:28Travis McElroy?

They're all the rage on Gorblon 5.

• 27:31Griffin McElroy?

That's fine. This is Earth. I have an Earth nose. That sucks, dude. If you're telling me that like in space, shit is so topsy-turvy that like no one is clocking your stinky what's it?

• 27:43Travis McElroy?

  Five, actually.

• 27:44Griffin McElroy?

I don't want to go to space, I don't think, if people are, if people are cool with your stinky what's it.

• 27:49Travis McElroy?

This is the TARDIS. It's stinkier on the inside.

• 27:52Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, it would have to be. Yeah.

• 27:55Travis McElroy?

He had to store these somewhere, presumably on ship. You're not flash freezing them or something?

• 28:02Travis McElroy?

I should get a refrigerator for the TARDIS. Yeah, man, you don't have that?

• 28:07Travis McElroy?

Why, of all the things you don't have?

• 28:09Travis McElroy?

I have a big closet full of whimsical clothing, but you don't have a refrigerator?

• 28:14Griffin McElroy?

  That's great. That's wild, man.

• 28:16Travis McElroy?

  Weight limit issues. Okay.

• 28:19Griffin McElroy?

Okay, can we go to the money zone?

• 28:21Travis McElroy?

  I would love nothing more.

• 28:32Travis McElroy?

Money. No one knows how it works. Where does it come from? Where does it go? Nobody knows. Money. It's a blessing.

• 28:41Griffin McElroy?

  That was a haiku, Trav.

• 28:42Travis McElroy?

Thank you. The money flows away.

• 28:47Griffin McElroy?

  That's five. I guess it's a good start.

• 28:48Travis McElroy?

But Rocket Money can help. Sign up today.

• 28:56Griffin McElroy?

You're not gonna get the, you're not gonna get the URL. No, you can't get the URL in a haiku, unfortunately.

• 29:01Travis McElroy?

Yeah, that's fair. But Rocket Money is a personal finance app that helps find and cancel your unwanted subscriptions, monitors your spending, and helps lower your bills so you can grow your savings. I've been using it this year as I try to be a responsible adult for the first time in my entire life. I've used it previously too. That's not fair, Trav. What? That's not fair. No. You're a good guy. I'm trying to be a consistently responsible adult instead of a sporadically responsible adult.

• 29:30Griffin McElroy?

When you absolutely have to become a responsible adult immediately. Yeah, no, for sure. That's the way I do it, and it's not advised. It's very stressful.

• 29:38Travis McElroy?

No. So I'm trying to be responsible, and man, does Rocket Money make that a lot easier because they'll be like, hey, this thing's coming up. Do you really want to do that? You really want to do this? And it's incredibly useful. And the fact that they will take care of canceling things, which oftentimes I'm aware of the expense coming up, but the idea of having to like go through a process where I might accidentally have to talk to a human being and tell them I don't want to use their services anymore terrifies me in such a way that I cannot describe with words. And that's what Rocket Money's for. So.

• 30:11Griffin McElroy?

  How can I get it?

• 30:12Travis McElroy?

Well, that's a great question, Griffin. I'm gonna tell you. Let Rocket Money help you reach your financial goals faster. Join at rocketmoney.com/mybrother. That's rocketmoney.com/mybrother. Rocketmoney.com/mybrother.

• 30:27Griffin McElroy?

I've got so much Wayfair in my room. I can see just from spinning around like six different Wayfair items in my office. A lot of which is new, brand new stuff for the latest office reno that I've done. I cannot vouch for this service enough. They've got furniture, decor. They've got everything. Wayfair is your one stop shop for everything your home needs.

• 30:54Travis McElroy?

Did Jeremy Renner do a renovation show? And if so, was it called Jeremy Reno?

• 30:59Griffin McElroy?

I have, I think it, or renovations.

• 31:02Travis McElroy?

  Renovations is the name.

• 31:04Griffin McElroy?

  Be better, I think.

• 31:05Travis McElroy?

  Renovations?

• 31:06Griffin McElroy?

If you're working on some renovations yourself and you need to fill an area with furniture that fits your fucking exact specifications.

• 31:15Travis McElroy?

Trav, it's called renovations. It's on.

• 31:17Travis McElroy?

  That is better, actually.

• 31:19Griffin McElroy?

  Wait, is that real?

• 31:20Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, it's on.

• 31:21Travis McElroy?

I knew that it was something, yeah.

• 31:23Griffin McElroy?

I don't, I don't like that. I didn't remember that it existed and I thought that that was like a clever thing that I like, we ginned up and then it was real. That made me feel small.

• 31:32Travis McElroy?

It follows Jeremy Renner who travels across the world to help communities by reimagining purpose-built vehicles. So it's not Jeremy Renner.

• 31:41Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 31:42Travis McElroy?

  Doing your house again.

• 31:43Griffin McElroy?

  This is still, okay.

• 31:44Travis McElroy?

Yeah, it's still, this is still, there's still meat on this bone.

• 31:48Griffin McElroy?

  Great.

• 31:49Travis McElroy?

There's still a little bit of meat on this mutton.

• 31:51Griffin McElroy?

Um, for real, I, this thing behind me, this stand, I needed something at an exact height and an exact depth and an exact width. And I was like, and I want it to look nice and I want it to be open and I want it to have three different shelves. Boom, bang, boom. They got me. Wayfair got me. And they got me there. They got this for me. It's, it's the easiest way to furnish a space. Get organized, refreshed and back on track this new year for way less. Head to wayfair.com right now to shop all things home. Hello?

• 33:08Speaker 07

Hello, I'm calling on behalf of the Beef and Dairy Network Podcast.

• 33:11Speaker 06

No, I'm sorry, no sales calls, goodbye.

• 33:13Speaker 07

It's a multi-award winning podcast featuring guests such as Ted Danson, Nick Offerman, Josie Long.

• 33:18Speaker 06

I don't know what a Josie Long is, and anyway, I'm about to take my mother into town to see Phantom of the Opera at last. You are wasting my time, and even worse, my mother's time. She only has so much time left. She's 98 years old, she's only expected to live for another 20 or 30 years. Mother, get your shoes on. Yes, the orthopedic ones, I don't want to have to carry you home again, do I?

• 33:36Speaker 07

Right, well, if you were looking for a podcast...

• 33:38Speaker 06

Mother, you're not wearing that, are you? It's very revealing, mother. This is musical theatre, not a Parisian bordello.

I'm reaching for my Samsung Galaxy 4 as we speak. Mother! Mother, not that hat!

• 34:00Travis McElroy?

I wanna munch. Squat! I want to munch.

• 34:10Travis McElroy?

Welcome to Munch Squad, it's a podcast with, in a podcast profile, the latest and greatest in brand eating. I watched most of the Super Bowl, and I just want to tell you, people... I'm not gonna talk about your weird Duncan Justin bait with all these freaking nineties people in it that you aired in the Super Bowl with Ted Danson and Jasmine Guy and Jaleel White and Alfonso Rivera and Jason Alexander and Matt LeBlanc and Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck and all those people. I'm not gonna talk about that.

• 34:46Griffin McElroy?

But Justin, I remember them. I remember.

• 34:49Travis McElroy?

Yeah, I remember them too. And the whole thing's about, do you remember?

• 34:51Travis McElroy?

Can I tell you what's weird? I don't. Like, I think, guys, this might be a Mandela thing where you think those people existed. They never did.

• 35:00Griffin McElroy?

No, we never landed on the moon and there wasn't Jaleel White.

• 35:03Travis McElroy?

Jaleel White never landed on the moon.

• 35:06Travis McElroy?

This is, but this is what they think of you. Just in case you're curious what they think of you. The campaign connects two kinds of nineties comfort. The sitcoms people rewatched and the Duncan runs people counted on. The result is a long buried origin story that feels almost real, punctuated by a surprise Tom Brady cameo and designed to evoke nostalgia, curiosity, and the hope that the sitcom was real.

• 35:30Travis McElroy?

  What?

• 35:31Travis McElroy?

  So it's like, yeah, it's like they're.

• 35:34Griffin McElroy?

So this is what, this is what football Tom was doing instead of leading his team to victory.

• 35:38Travis McElroy?

Yeah, when the Patriots needed Tom.

• 35:40Griffin McElroy?

  The most.

• 35:41Travis McElroy?

Yeah. Can I tell you guys? I don't know who won the Super Bowl.

• 35:44Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, it was the, it was the Seahawks in a game that was a largely, from what I understand, kicking based affair. Mostly kick, mostly kicks, not a lot of throws in this one. And a lot of people were disappointed in that. I'm not gonna talk.

• 35:59Travis McElroy?

  I didn't watch.

• 35:59Griffin McElroy?

  It's cold football.

• 36:00Travis McElroy?

  I was watching, uh, curling.

• 36:03Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 36:04Travis McElroy?

I'm, I'm not gonna talk about that.

• 36:07Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 36:07Travis McElroy?

Okay. Because I have to keep talking about, it's, it's hard. When we started talking about the terrible Buffalo Hank.

• 36:17Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 36:17Travis McElroy?

And his terrible voice and the terrible way he looks.

• 36:20Griffin McElroy?

Voice is cool. I love, I love the voice.

• 36:23Travis McElroy?

This is good. The voice is actually great, too. I feel like we kind of entered into this, this bargain where I have to keep covering all of his like comings and goings. And this one is honestly pretty monumental. So Buffalo Wild Wings and T-Pain drop a love song to level up your next date night.

• 36:40Griffin McElroy?

  Huh.

• 36:40Travis McElroy?

  Awesome.

• 36:41Travis McElroy?

So just. Uh, in case, let me, I got it on a tab, so I'll show it to you guys.

• 36:46Griffin McElroy?

I hope he sings, um, "Do You Suffer From Need?"

• 37:02Travis McElroy?

What I like about this is that a lot of people when they do songs-

• 37:05Griffin McElroy?

Please pause it. No. You must pause it.

• 37:08Travis McElroy?

What I like is a lot of people, when they do songs, they're like, "We did a collaboration with this person."

• 37:15Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

Then usually it's like, they did a song and they'll maybe like, mention the product in the song. T-Pain is like, he is laying out for you, there is no art here, he is laying out for you exactly what the deal is. Like, he's like, completely, just here's what it is. It's like, this is exactly how much meat you get. This is the number of Pepsis included in the deal.

• 37:36Griffin McElroy?

With an enthusiasm that suggests that maybe he had already written this song. And he was like, "I, this is embarrassing, but sometimes it's practice till my skills don't dull. I'll do like, jingles or whatever." And Buffalo Wild Wings, you actually need to hear this one. It's called "Let's Go Buffalo Wild" and it fucking hits.

• 37:56Travis McElroy?

Yeah, it's actually, I wrote it for you guys. Let's see if he continues to detail the special.

• 38:00Travis McElroy?

Can I just send a message?

• 38:02Travis McElroy?

You can just send anything you want, Travis. Send it out.

• 38:04Travis McElroy?

Buffalo Wild Wings, the amount of money that you had to pay T-Pain to be this enthusiastic about your product? You could have paid me so much less. And I, I would have been enthusiastic about it too.

• 38:16Griffin McElroy?

And you would not have been able to, to write a song.

• 38:18Travis McElroy?

No, absolutely not. But I just, I see this and I think, "I'd like to sell out." Can I please sell out for-

• 38:25Griffin McElroy?

  To B-Dubs?

• 38:26Travis McElroy?

Oh, this much money? Aw, please, please, please, please.

• 38:29Travis McElroy?

B-Dubs has launched a limited edition six-track love album, featuring a hit single with T-Pain, just in time for Valentine's Day. Buffalo Wild Wings is teaming up with Grammy Award-winning artist, producer, songwriter, all-sharpener, and global cultural icon, T-Pain, to release "Let's Go Buffalo Wild: A Pick-Six Love Song." The catchy new anthem is designed to be the soundtrack for your next Buffalo Wild Wings date night.

• 38:53Travis McElroy?

  Can you imagine?

• 38:54Travis McElroy?

  And can you?

• 38:55Griffin McElroy?

Taking my wife, taking my lady love to Buffalo Wild Wings?

• 38:58Travis McElroy?

But not just that Griffin, but like saying like, baby, on the way there, have I got the soundtrack? For us. The date night soundtrack.

• 39:07Travis McElroy?

Curious about what the specials are right now, don't worry because I have my friend T-Pain here to lay them out for you in detail.

• 39:14Griffin McElroy?

You don't want to embarrass yourself when you get up to the counter.

• 39:16Travis McElroy?

No, you get there and your wife picks up the menu and you're like, what are you doing?

• 39:20Travis McElroy?

Yeah. The featured song, okay, it's a, the track is so catchy, you'll find yourself craving a pick six meal for two.

• 39:26Travis McElroy?

  Yes, of course I do.

• 39:28Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, I mean that I would feel that regardless of if I heard a song or not.

• 39:31Travis McElroy?

But also for one, I want to eat it. Oh.

• 39:34Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 39:35Travis McElroy?

Fans can view the full music video for Let's Go Buffalo Wild, a pick six love song here.

• 39:43Travis McElroy?

Does the Buffalo appear in the video?

• 39:47Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah, wait a minute.

• 39:47Travis McElroy?

Let's, let's keep, let's keep and then we'll return to the.

• 40:19Travis McElroy?

They actually, to be clear, they would prefer you not do wild things at Buffalo Wild Wings. Despite what Mr. Pain is encouraging here. Okay, here's what I'm hoping for. We're at 120 of a 230 video. Okay, guys?

• 40:34Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 40:35Travis McElroy?

What I'm hoping for is a Hank verse.

• 40:37Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 40:38Travis McElroy?

That's where I, that's what I'm hoping for. The other thing I want to mention is that the video is T-Pain and his, I'm assuming, wife.

• 40:47Griffin McElroy?

  Paramore.

• 40:48Travis McElroy?

Sitting at a table, enjoying the meal and they're being encircled by what appear to be real cars, driving in real circles.

• 40:55Griffin McElroy?

  Absolutely whipping shitties around T-Pain.

• 41:00Travis McElroy?

  So.

• 41:00Travis McElroy?

All I can think about the entire time I'm watching this is like, for the love of God, don't let us lose T-Pain in this.

• 41:08Travis McElroy?

  To a B-Dubs commercial.

• 41:09Travis McElroy?

  Commercial tragedy.

• 41:11Travis McElroy?

  It also.

• 41:11Travis McElroy?

  Please, God.

• 41:12Travis McElroy?

What it proposes is that the perfect.

• 41:14Travis McElroy?

  Or his wife.

• 41:15Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 41:16Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, no, please.

• 41:17Travis McElroy?

Or the Pepsi's, the best way to enjoy a fine meal is in a hanger filled with exhaust fumes and burning tire smell.

• 41:27Travis McElroy?

Okay, I'm really hoping for this Hank verse, guys, let's keep digging.

• 41:33Travis McElroy?

  Can I say?

• 41:34Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 41:35Travis McElroy?

Okay, I'm gonna have one last thing. I'm dripping in sauce. I'm a B-Dubs boss.

• 41:41Travis McElroy?

  That's really good.

• 41:42Travis McElroy?

  It's good, it's good, man, it's good.

• 41:44Travis McElroy?

Shot right here. Okay, that's a lot, man.

• 41:48Travis McElroy?

That's a lot, man, hold on. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.

• 41:53Travis McElroy?

Does he start out? Does he start out with, hola, it's Hank?

• 41:57Travis McElroy?

Yeah, I think he might have said, hola, it's Hank, but we're gonna back up and just hear Hank's verse.

• 42:02Travis McElroy?

This looks like Hank is dead.

• 42:05Travis McElroy?

And this is only people who know this guy's name. He is gonna be on the podcast eventually. We have to be a little bit polite.

• 42:11Travis McElroy?

This seems like there's gonna be a reveal that they spent a hundred million dollars to holographically get dead Hank into this video and track.

• 42:20Travis McElroy?

Yeah. Like Hank is Joe C. And we've just brought his spirit back for one last verse, okay.

• 42:32Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 42:33Travis McElroy?

  So that's awesome.

• 42:35Travis McElroy?

Oh, boy. So here's what Hank does.

• 42:41Travis McElroy?

He manages to drop Spanish and then flips it around with a little AVE, a little slang for everybody, cuz he's Hank, he's a equal opportunity.

• 42:53Travis McElroy?

  Flavor freak.

• 42:54Travis McElroy?

He's a flavor freak, he be the flavor freak, I believe is what he said, Trav. Okay.

• 43:05Travis McElroy?

Stop, stop, stop. Me Hungy? Me Hungy? I don't. Me Hungy. So that's somebody else that is not, I don't think, that's another good thing, Hank. I think you do a lot of bad ones right in a row, pal.

• 43:31Griffin McElroy?

I mean, you know, everyone has to start somewhere, right?

• 43:35Travis McElroy?

  Everyone's gotta start somewhere.

• 43:36Griffin McElroy?

So many artists launch their careers off of the back of a guest verse on a track.

• 43:42Travis McElroy?

  Uh huh.

• 43:43Griffin McElroy?

And I do think that Hank's craft could use some work, could use a little bit more practice, but this is how you get it. This is how, this is how, and under the tutelage of someone like T-Pain, who like, has been all over every, you know, part of this business. It's invaluable. It's just wild that we're seeing kind of the work take place.

• 44:06Travis McElroy?

Yeah. It is interesting, the tonal quality that Hank brings.

• 44:12Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 44:13Travis McElroy?

As if someone asked Josh Groban to do a guest verse in their song.

• 44:18Griffin McElroy?

A lot of, a lot of interrogative kind of pitch shift upwards, like, uh, can I get a drip?

• 44:25Travis McElroy?

And a lot more vibrato than one normally hears in a guest verse.

• 44:29Griffin McElroy?

Yes, absolutely. Yeah, that's a good point. To have a lot of tremolo coming out of those pipes.

• 44:34Travis McElroy?

Has Beck been always voiced Hank? I feel like at first it was a, it was a Beck Bennett alike. Has he always been the man behind the horns?

• 44:43Griffin McElroy?

It's possible that they had a Beck Bennett impersonator and then

• 44:47Travis McElroy?

  I feel like at first.

• 44:48Griffin McElroy?

Had a great quarter and then paid for the real deal.

• 44:50Travis McElroy?

Well, maybe not. I love, I love Hank and I would love to get Hank on the show.

• 44:53Griffin McElroy?

  Sure. It's a, it's a Buffalo character.

• 44:58Griffin McElroy?

  It's a Buffalo character.

• 44:59Travis McElroy?

  It's a Buffalo character.

• 45:00Travis McElroy?

Yeah. But Griffin appeared in a song with T-Pain, so how is that?

• 45:04Griffin McElroy?

Would you say, but do you want Beck Bennett to come on the show? Cause that would be really fun. I think that would be a great.

• 45:08Travis McElroy?

I don't, I am not interested in having Beck Bennett on the show. I am interested in having Hank from BW3's on the show. He plays the role.

• 45:19Travis McElroy?

Can you imagine a duet dropped by Hanga Buffalo and MC Scott Cat together? That'd be good.

• 45:27Travis McElroy?

Oh my god. Partnering with T-Pain to create, can I read the quote?

• 45:31Griffin McElroy?

You can, I just like, you said something so wild and I feel so wild.

• 45:37Travis McElroy?

What did I say that was so Buffalo Wild?

• 45:40Griffin McElroy?

Commercial mascots don't do podcast appearing, like Mr. Peanut never went on fucking Doughboys.

• 45:46Travis McElroy?

Hey Trav, hey Trav, hey Trav. How many seasons has the Grinch's podcast been going?

• 45:53Travis McElroy?

  A lot? I don't know.

• 45:55Travis McElroy?

Yeah, like three seasons. You just sound so stupid.

• 45:59Griffin McElroy?

  So that's the Grinch.

• 46:00Travis McElroy?

Yeah, the Grinch, so the Grinch can have his own podcast, but I can't have Hank from B-Dubs on my podcast?

• 46:06Travis McElroy?

And what about prime, prime spokesperson Logan Paul and his podcast, Griffin?

• 46:12Griffin McElroy?

Okay, that's different. Neither of those things are like mascots in the way that Hank is a mascot.

• 46:17Travis McElroy?

It's not, what do you, okay, but like he's not.

• 46:20Griffin McElroy?

They didn't bring the yellow M and M on fucking WTF.

• 46:24Travis McElroy?

So you're telling me you think Logan Paul is a real person?

• 46:28Travis McElroy?

No, I'm not saying, I'm saying Beck Bennett would, I would love to have Beck Bennett on the show. We don't really have a lot of celebrity guests and that's by design. It's because we don't really know how to be funny with them usually, right? Is it, can we all agree on that? Hey, audience, you agree? Everyone's nodding at home. Okay, fine. So I don't necessarily want Beck Bennett on the show, even though I would love to meet Beck Bennett. I'm a big fan of his work. I'm realistic in that that's not where our skillset is, right? It's not in getting celebrities on the show and cutting up with them. Otherwise, I think we would have climbed a little bit higher up that proverbial mountain than we would have done it by now.

• 47:01Griffin McElroy?

  Yes, for sure.

• 47:04Travis McElroy?

Hank from BW3's is a riot and we talk about him a lot on the show. And I'd love to know, I would love to talk about BW3's. I don't think about BW3's as a joke. I'll, I go there. I took Tim Batt there. I order from the BW3's, go. Like, I'm a fan, okay? I'd like to have Hank on the show. I don't want Beck Bennett on the show. We don't know how to make

• 47:30Travis McElroy?

Don't say you don't want. I think maybe this is Griffin's hang up. It sounds like you draw the line that having Beck Bennett on the show.

• 47:37Travis McElroy?

  I am saying.

• 47:38Griffin McElroy?

This is what I'm fucking saying, man. Like, who is that Skype call even going to fucking come from?

• 47:45Travis McElroy?

It's him in a mask, but like.

• 47:47Travis McElroy?

Or a VT, it could be a VT.

• 47:49Travis McElroy?

What I'm saying is, I would have loved it. I would have loved it if we had made this sort of show that had celebrity pop-ins that it would feel funny and natural, right? Where it would be like,

• 48:01Griffin McElroy?

  Right.

• 48:02Travis McElroy?

Part of the show I enjoy is that their famous friends pop in and it's a cut up and they talk about all the celebrities they know together.

• 48:09Travis McElroy?

  Together, yeah.

• 48:10Travis McElroy?

That's not the show that, I would have loved that. Like, right? Travis moved to LA for a couple of years, right? That would have been our moment to be like, this is the show.

• 48:19Travis McElroy?

Don't you pin this on me, Justin.

• 48:21Travis McElroy?

It's not your fault. You were trying. Griffin and I even tried.

• 48:25Travis McElroy?

I didn't fucking do anything, dude.

• 48:27Travis McElroy?

But what I'm saying is, this is not a show, you remember, like, anytime we've had a famous person on the show, it's a very nice conversation, but we're much more concerned with them liking us.

• 48:37Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 48:37Travis McElroy?

And making something funny, right? And Beck Bennett would be the same deal. So I don't want Beck Bennett on a show, even though I'm sure he's a great person. Now, Hank.

• 48:46Travis McElroy?

  Juice.

• 48:47Travis McElroy?

  From BW3's.

• 48:49Travis McElroy?

You're not concerned with making Hank like you.

• 48:52Travis McElroy?

I'm not gonna be concerned about Hank liking me because I already like his product. We have something in common.

• 48:58Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 48:58Travis McElroy?

I don't think Hank makes the Buffalo Wild Wings, Justin.

• 49:02Griffin McElroy?

I don't think Hank has ever said one unscripted word in his entire life.

• 49:09Travis McElroy?

You think Beck Bennett isn't talented enough to handle it? Now you're being hurtful.

• 49:16Griffin McElroy?

  I'm, I'm saying that.

• 49:18Travis McElroy?

  Now you're being mean.

• 49:19Griffin McElroy?

The only reason they would let him out to be in something is if it would get more people to eat Buffalo Wild Wings and WAP.

• 49:27Travis McElroy?

  And it would.

• 49:29Griffin McElroy?

I don't think that we could promise them that or deliver them that.

• 49:32Travis McElroy?

  You gotta think.

• 49:35Travis McElroy?

You gotta think beyond some of these like the limiting factors that you're putting up for yourself, Griffin. I'm just saying it would be a great interview, right? Can we agree on that?

• 49:44Travis McElroy?

We would have to do it straight up, like no Buffalo jokes. I would be so embarrassed.

• 49:49Travis McElroy?

  Can we finish T-Pain's song?

• 49:51Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 49:59Travis McElroy?

It seems like the energy of the video has gone on long enough that it's shifted where his wife is done eating and she is now sitting on a nearby car and watching him continue to talk about how excited she was.

• 50:11Travis McElroy?

She's ready to go. It gives the image of like, we're out in the parking lot. We've finished eating.

• 50:17Travis McElroy?

We've laid for the movie, T-Pain. We gotta go.

• 50:23Travis McElroy?

Um, I would use that hood ornament, by the way. If I could get, if I could get a Hank hood ornament, I would affix it to my vehicle.

• 50:32Travis McElroy?

So partnering with T-Pain to create a love song devoted to the pick six meal for two, felt like an unexpected way to celebrate date night, the B-Dubs way, said Tristan Maline, the brand president of Buffalo Wild Wings. Whether you're in a relationship or you're just really committed to wings, the pick six meal for two is more than just a deal. It's a love language and I can't seem to get it out of my head.

• 50:54Travis McElroy?

The album also features five original, and this is interesting, mixed genre songs.

• 51:02Travis McElroy?

  Awesome.

• 51:02Travis McElroy?

Mixed genre, you know, they're not even like, it's not like one sound. They're kind of like,

• 51:07Travis McElroy?

  How Weird Al?

• 51:08Travis McElroy?

  It's like a world beat.

• 51:13Travis McElroy?

You can't quantify these rhythms with labels. To celebrate its release, the album is also getting the collectible treatment with a limited run of sauce-filled vinyl records, each swirling with B-Dub sauce as it spins. Each song is accompanied by its own social forward video.

• 51:30Travis McElroy?

Awesome. I'm a human being and I love when people talk.

• 51:34Travis McElroy?

I love when stuff is social forward. This is, can I, I'll show you guys the, um, Buffalo Wild Wings is listed on DoorDash as a gastropub and I don't know how to feel about that.

• 51:45Travis McElroy?

  It's accurate.

• 51:45Travis McElroy?

  It's cool.

• 51:47Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 51:47Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 51:48Griffin McElroy?

  That's a sauce filled record.

• 51:49Travis McElroy?

It's like a very thin layer of sauce in there. It looks cool.

• 51:51Griffin McElroy?

That's nice to have a backup.

• 51:53Travis McElroy?

I've tried to reset my account password so I can buy it, but they're saying I don't have an account with BW3s, which we all know is bullshit.

• 51:58Griffin McElroy?

I find that hard to believe. Yeah.

• 52:00Travis McElroy?

Yeah. Uh, the, the, the playlist is on Spotify on Buffalo Wild Wings, uh, uh, page that they have. The songs include, let's go Buffalo Wild, of course.

• 52:13Travis McElroy?

  Rinse me with.

• 52:14Griffin McElroy?

  No, go ahead.

• 52:15Travis McElroy?

  Rinse me with a ranch.

• 52:18Griffin McElroy?

  Rinse me with a ranch?

• 52:19Travis McElroy?

Rinse me with a ranch. I want to pick six tonight. Buff Dub Dub. That one's probably good.

• 52:25Griffin McElroy?

  Buff Dub Dub.

• 52:27Travis McElroy?

  Picking six with the boys.

• 52:29Griffin McElroy?

  Hell yeah.

• 52:29Travis McElroy?

And chewing my life with you.

• 52:31Griffin McElroy?

I lost all my money in a cantina playing Puzoq with.

• 52:38Griffin McElroy?

  With Dub Dub Dub.

• 52:39Travis McElroy?

What's hard is if, I obviously think it would be very good content for our podcast.

• 52:45Griffin McElroy?

  Sure.

• 52:45Travis McElroy?

To play all of these. Like, I think every single second of all this record would be very good, but I do think that the audience, maybe they're not craving that as much as we are. Like, I want to, but do they? I don't know.

• 52:58Griffin McElroy?

We could have gotten away with that on episode 800 and to be like, this one's just for us to have some fun.

• 53:03Travis McElroy?

A listening party? Now, listen, if BW3s wants to sponsor a listening party for this record, I'd love to do that for them. I'd love to have Hank on the show for that. That seems like a great crossover.

• 53:14Griffin McElroy?

  It's not gonna happen.

• 53:15Travis McElroy?

Thank you so much for listening to our, our podcast, my brother, my brother and me. Thank you to Montane for the use of our theme song, My Life is Better With You. Uh, go, listen, um, support, enjoy, thrive. Now, normally Griffin says that, but he's not. You know why? Cause he's going off to get ready for one of the many streams we're now doing every single week.

• 53:40Griffin McElroy?

That's true. Yeah. On YouTube, on our YouTube channel, MacRae Family.

• 53:44Travis McElroy?

We do Clubhouse the last Tuesday of every month and the other Tuesdays are Super McElroy Brothers with us doing gaming content, all those at noon Eastern time. We also do solo streams throughout the week, each one of us. And if you want to see more of our gaming content, you can follow McElroy Entertainment System on Instagram.

• 54:03Travis McElroy?

We've got a 20 Make It Stick sticker designed by Lucas Hespenheid, at Mr. Base on Instagram. And you can still get the Candle Knights video on demand. You can pay what you want. All proceeds go to Harmony House. It's a really fun show. I hope you'll check it out. Also, 10% of all merch proceeds this month are going to be donated to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, which provides free immigration, legal representation to low-income immigrants and refugees in Minnesota and North Dakota. So that is a wonderful cause. We hope you want to support all of that and check out all of that stuff and buy the merch and see the shows and follow everything and absorb our brand.

• 54:41Travis McElroy?

  Please absorb our brand.

• 54:42Travis McElroy?

Yeah, I got, I got a Miggy here that I'm gonna throw.

• 54:46Travis McElroy?

  Well, you're not on video.

• 54:47Travis McElroy?

  Oh, fuck. Yeah, good point.

• 54:49Travis McElroy?

It's gotta be me, because Justin's injured.

• 54:53Travis McElroy?

Yeah. I'm on the DL. I got a big pencil. Yeah. Look at the size of this fuck, look at the size of this fucking pencil. Give it a whirl, bud. Big old, it's my first Tyconderoga. Throw that and see if you can stick it in the wall, like. I'm gonna stick it in the fucking wall, watch this shit. Give me like five seconds.

• 55:20Travis McElroy?

It's a good noise. My name is Justin McElroy.

• 55:22Travis McElroy?

  I'm Travis McElroy.

• 55:24Travis McElroy?

I'm Griffin McElroy. That had a nice bounce. It did? My brother, my brother, may kiss your dad square on the lips.
