To watch episodes of Financial Audit a week earlier, check us out on YouTube.

• 0:03Speaker 01

I got coddled a lot, and that's one of the reasons why.

• 0:05Caleb Hammer?

  By who?

• 0:05Speaker 01

  My ex, typically.

• 0:06Caleb Hammer?

It sounds like you're just trying to take an excuse for why things are bad today and why you're not doing well now.

• 0:10Speaker 01

He paid for a majority of our life when we moved into.

• 0:12Caleb Hammer?

That's not your boyfriend coddling, that's you being a dumb [BLEEP] and borrowing payday loans for his Xbox.

• 0:18Speaker 01

I'm gonna be honest with you, I think he is to blame.

• 0:19Caleb Hammer?

The [BLEEP] are you? You just wanna blame it completely on him? Do you have no ability to take any kind of responsibility?

• 0:28Speaker 01

Hi, my name is Ellis. I am 23-year-old from Dallas, and this is Financial Audit.

• 0:34Caleb Hammer?

Thanks for coming on. Um, you know, I just wanna ask a question. I know that you went through a lot of things with our producer Lindsay, just to make sure you're comfortable on the show. But I'm a pretty abrasive person, especially when it comes to talking about finances. And, you know, the first thing you hit me with is, like, asking what you're even, like, allowed to, like, say to me, which I appreciate, but, like, are you sure you're gonna be able to handle this conversation? Cause this gets pretty intense.

• 1:01Speaker 01

Caleb, I'm ready. I am [BLEEP] ready. I need a fire lit under my [BLEEP] and I'm, I'm ready.

• 1:06Caleb Hammer?

I was just getting some sensitivity vibes.

• 1:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:08Caleb Hammer?

So I just wanna make sure that I'm not, like,

• 1:10Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:10Caleb Hammer?

  destroying someone.

• 1:12Speaker 01

You don't know me, so you don't know what my boundaries are, so you can't hurt me.

• 1:16Caleb Hammer?

Fair enough. So what do you do for a living in Dallas?

• 1:18Speaker 01

I am a, uh, studio manager. I, I am a, I manage a store, and it's storage. So basically that. I am basically, like, uh, like I, I manage property, basically, like that. So it's like a studio and I'm in. No, it's like a storage company, basically. I don't know why I said studio.

• 1:34Caleb Hammer?

Okay. How many hours a week do you work in that?

• 1:36Speaker 01

  Forty.

• 1:37Caleb Hammer?

  What's your income there?

• 1:38Speaker 01

Eighteen fifty. I just got a pay increase. I was making sixteen seventy-five.

• 1:45Caleb Hammer?

Oh, okay. Wow, that's actually, percentage-wise, a good increase.

• 1:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:48Caleb Hammer?

How do we feel, living eighteen fifty an hour in the Dallas area?

• 1:53Speaker 01

Not great. Um, I am definitely living above my means a little bit. Um, my rent is increasingly, like, it's bad. It's really bad. I know, it's, it's, but I mean, I choose to.

• 2:05Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 2:05Speaker 01

  What do you mean?

• 2:06Caleb Hammer?

  What is it?

• 2:07Speaker 01

  It's, it's...

• 2:10Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 2:11Speaker 01

  Nine.

• 2:12Caleb Hammer?

How do you not know? Do you know?

• 2:14Speaker 01

  I do know.

• 2:14Caleb Hammer?

How long have you been living in this rent? Your motive, okay.

• 2:19Speaker 01

Um, nine fifty, I think, about, because it fluctuates sometimes.

• 2:23Caleb Hammer?

  Nine hundred fifty dollars?

• 2:24Speaker 01

Yes, because I split it with the roommate. I split a two bedroom with the roommate.

• 2:27Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, well.

• 2:28Speaker 01

So that's why it fluctuates a little bit, because sometimes I like, what do you mean, why?

• 2:31Caleb Hammer?

That doesn't make sense. If you split it with a roommate, are you talking about utilities included?

• 2:34Speaker 01

  Yes, so half.

• 2:35Caleb Hammer?

  That's not that bad.

• 2:36Speaker 01

  No.

• 2:36Caleb Hammer?

  For the Dallas area.

• 2:37Speaker 01

So in total, I think it's about two grand. We pay close to two grand for a two bedroom.

• 2:41Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, but you don't.

• 2:43Speaker 01

  No, I pay nine fifty.

• 2:44Caleb Hammer?

  You have roommates.

• 2:45Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 2:45Caleb Hammer?

I'm looking at someone with a roommate and not freaking out about what their total run of their places, just what they're providing.

• 2:49Speaker 01

Yeah, so nine fifty, give or take.

• 2:51Caleb Hammer?

Nine fifty for the Dallas area is relatively reasonable, and you're saying you struggle with it?

• 2:57Speaker 01

Yes, I mean, there are some weeks where I don't.

• 2:59Caleb Hammer?

Are you not cutting back on other things in order to require to get that?

• 3:04Speaker 01

  Ish, ish.

• 3:06Caleb Hammer?

  Ish? What is an ish?

• 3:07Speaker 01

Well, I mean, like, I like trinkets. I like trinkets, what can I say?

• 3:12Caleb Hammer?

The fuck is a trinket? What are you talking about?

• 3:13Speaker 01

Okay, so like, I like to fill my room with little trinkets. I like, you know, little supplies and like, like, little frogs.

• 3:19Caleb Hammer?

Why not pay for the room first? I'm frogs?

• 3:22Speaker 01

They're cute, what can I say? I'm sorry, but okay, I do pay for the room first. I do pay for the room.

• 3:26Caleb Hammer?

You got your little stem ball there, you're good, I know, stem ball.

• 3:30Speaker 01

It's fun. Have you tried these before?

• 3:32Caleb Hammer?

Girl, I walked in with one. Oh, guy, sorry, I'm sorry. That's, I call everyone that.

• 3:37Speaker 01

You were okay, you were okay, you're okay. You're good. So they call me liege. You're okay if you want to call liege. I like liege.

• 3:44Caleb Hammer?

  What's that?

• 3:45Speaker 01

It's like a non-binary term for girl, guy, princess.

• 3:48Caleb Hammer?

Okay, hold on, okay, I'm just, let me, let me, okay, you're very emotive, very excited, I appreciate it. I need to like, come back down to earth real quick. Uh, okay, so we struggle paying with rent, even though that's about a week's worth of your income, just a little bit more, um, than a week.

• 4:05Speaker 01

Well. The electricity bill is what's kicking my.

• 4:09Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but you said it's variable. You said that's including utilities sometimes. Or well, it is including our two.

• 4:14Speaker 01

  It is.

• 4:15Caleb Hammer?

So is it including electricity or not?

• 4:17Speaker 01

  No, cuz the electricity.

• 4:18Caleb Hammer?

Do you know what utilities are? What are you saying?

• 4:19Speaker 01

Okay, the nine fifty comes from my second paycheck cuz my second paycheck.

• 4:25Caleb Hammer?

The rent that comes, the nine fifty, you said that includes utilities.

• 4:28Speaker 01

But not, not, not electricity. Electricity is entire cuz it comes from the second paycheck. This is the first, so the first paycheck.

• 4:34Caleb Hammer?

Oh, that's where we're starting. We're starting with that kind of mindset. Why would we not include electricity in utilities?

• 4:40Speaker 01

Because I don't include it in my, in my secondary. Like that is like, so the way I budget mentally is my first paycheck is electricity. Cuz my first paycheck is like my flex paycheck and everything like that.

• 4:52Caleb Hammer?

  Flex paycheck?

• 4:53Speaker 01

So like, if I wanna get myself a little treat for the month, that's what I, that paycheck I do that with.

• 4:58Caleb Hammer?

  Instead of rent?

• 4:59Speaker 01

Well, that's the second paycheck cuz the second paycheck is all.

• 5:01Caleb Hammer?

  So electricity instead of?

• 5:03Speaker 01

  Electricity's first paycheck.

• 5:05Caleb Hammer?

But you said sweet treat was first paycheck too.

• 5:07Speaker 01

It's both cuz first paycheck is like, I think right now it's.

• 5:10Caleb Hammer?

Wait, why didn't I set yourself up? You could be good for the month, though.

• 5:14Speaker 01

Cuz I just paid it. I just paid the rent for the first paycheck.

• 5:17Caleb Hammer?

No, you said first paycheck goes to electricity. Second paycheck goes to rent.

• 5:21Speaker 01

Yes, cuz electricity, I mean, first paycheck is, is fifty, is twelve hundred. So electricity is only like a hundred bucks. So a hundred bucks of twelve hundred and then I have eleven.

• 5:30Caleb Hammer?

The hundred, a hun- hold on, just to confirm, I wanna make sure I heard this right. Oh, you're a rambler. I was tuning out, okay? Hundred dollars goes to electricity.

• 5:39Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 5:39Caleb Hammer?

That's what you're freaking out about is a hundred dollars. If you're freaking out about a hundred dollars, we have more problems. It's a hundred dollars is not an insignificant amount of money. I wanna be clear. You can get a lot with a hundred dollars. But that, if we are make or break on life from a hundred dollars, there's much worse happening.

• 5:58Speaker 01

It's more the second paycheck that me up a little bit.

• 6:02Caleb Hammer?

You were just complaining about electricity. You said the issue here.

• 6:05Speaker 01

Electricity is, is way more than it needs to be. I feel like electricity should not be like 200 bucks a month. I feel like.

• 6:11Caleb Hammer?

Should not be. What it should not be. You mean entitlement? Are you saying what?

• 6:14Speaker 01

  Like I'm saying I'm overpaying. That's what I'm saying.

• 6:18Caleb Hammer?

I, I, I feel like you're probably paying on what you use. I don't care. That isn't, listen, that's a completely different conversation. The electricity is used, you pay for it. That's what it is. But you were complaining that the issue that you're dealing with was the electricity. It was a hundred dollars, not insignificant to be clear, but not the make or break for your life. You complete that in a day.

• 6:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:40Caleb Hammer?

You make that in a day.

• 6:41Speaker 01

I do make it in a day, but I just, I feel like the way that my brain works is just.

• 6:47Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 6:47Speaker 01

I don't know. It just feels, it feels not right. It just feels like I'm overpaying for that.

• 6:52Caleb Hammer?

But that's not the make or break though. You said it was the make or break essentially.

• 6:55Speaker 01

The make or break is the total amount that I pay to live. I feel like, I feel like.

• 6:59Caleb Hammer?

Which sounds like a thousand fifty.

• 7:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:01Caleb Hammer?

Even still, that's not the like for Dallas.

• 7:05Speaker 01

  I still feel like it's a lot.

• 7:06Caleb Hammer?

  The craziest.

• 7:07Speaker 01

  I think it is.

• 7:07Caleb Hammer?

Sure. It might be a lot. Listen, a lot of money in terms of percentage of your income potentially, but the thing is you could afford it. That screams to me that that is not the issue. And there's this much larger substantial issue in your life. In your finances and your spending and your management and your lack of budgeting and your ability to survive like an adult who knows how to look at their money and see where it's going.

• 7:29Speaker 01

I don't like looking at my bank account.

• 7:30Caleb Hammer?

Okay. I hear that all the time. Why?

• 7:32Speaker 01

Because it, it, okay. So it's like when you're a child and you get scolded for like doing bad choices.

• 7:38Caleb Hammer?

  Uh huh.

• 7:38Speaker 01

I don't like looking at the bank account.

• 7:40Caleb Hammer?

Scolding doesn't compound though. It's not like if you do those bad choices and eventually they catch one at the end, you get all the other bad choices plus more. This is kind of this compounds the, the less and less you look at it, the worse and worse it gets, meaning the anxiety is building because you know, it's only getting worse. It's something you have to confront.

• 7:58Speaker 01

That's why I don't look at my grades when I was in college because I was afraid.

• 8:00Caleb Hammer?

  Actually.

• 8:01Speaker 01

Yeah. I didn't look at my grades because I got so terrified that I was doing a terrible job.

• 8:04Caleb Hammer?

Why are you here? Why are you here?

• 8:05Speaker 01

I am here because I have gotten a lot of money recently from my streaming services and I don't know what to do.

• 8:13Caleb Hammer?

  Really?

• 8:13Speaker 01

  Yes, I have actually.

• 8:14Caleb Hammer?

  Streaming services?

• 8:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 8:16Caleb Hammer?

  Uh, what do you do?

• 8:17Speaker 01

I am a contact trader on Twitch.

• 8:20Caleb Hammer?

Uh huh, okay. Any specific niche?

• 8:22Speaker 01

Uh, gaming and slice of life typically.

• 8:25Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 8:25Speaker 01

I don't play a lot of video games. My video games have been like, like MOBAs if you will. So I'm branching out to single players and a lot of people like that.

• 8:33Caleb Hammer?

And we don't allow people to come on to plug their things. That's why, you know, using a fake name and there's no socials linked. So like, that doesn't matter. Uh, so you got a lot of money and you're wondering what to do with it? Or was it like a lump sum? Like you had a really good month or things are ramping?

• 8:47Speaker 01

  Things are ramping.

• 8:48Caleb Hammer?

What are we, what are we talking?

• 8:49Speaker 01

Like these last two months um have been oh, close to a thousand. Uh, the first one was nine hundred and seventy and the last one was a thousand and then this one-

• 8:58Caleb Hammer?

You really set me up for a much larger number. Come on. Well, you know you did, right?

• 9:03Speaker 01

I, maybe I teased a little bit, but it's a lot to me. Cause I mean, that's like an entire paycheck right there.

• 9:09Caleb Hammer?

No, no, I get that. It's not an insignificant amount. But when you say I coming into a lot of money, we're probably thinking like tens of thousands.

• 9:17Speaker 01

  No, it's like a thousand.

• 9:18Caleb Hammer?

Well, that's great. I mean, that's good for extra supplemental income for something you probably enjoy more.

• 9:22Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 9:23Caleb Hammer?

Okay, forty, forty hours a week on that other job. How many hours a week on the Twitch stuff?

• 9:26Speaker 01

Probably close to forty. I'm definitely working.

• 9:28Caleb Hammer?

Ah, as long as it's growing, what is like the percentage growth month over month revenue wise?

• 9:32Speaker 01

Um, I don't know off the top of my head. I just know-

• 9:35Caleb Hammer?

What did it go to, to, to what? So, okay, this one so far, what's your projected revenue?

• 9:39Speaker 01

My projected revenue is close to six hundred. Cause that, cause-

• 9:44Caleb Hammer?

You said you have what? Why? So you're going down?

• 9:46Speaker 01

Well, no, cause the last two months I was doing a birthday thing and I kinda overspent for my birthday stuff, but that is what it is.

• 9:52Caleb Hammer?

  I swear.

• 9:55Speaker 01

  I'm a giggler, I'm sorry!

• 9:57Caleb Hammer?

I swear, every person, you just start seeing these-

• 10:01Speaker 01

  You gotta-

• 10:02Caleb Hammer?

Hey, get back! One second, I'm talking. I don't get, I'm talking. I swear, all these people that just have these financial issues, these dots connect. Every single one of them, why, what is this obsession with like birthday months and all this bullshit? Who cares? Set yourself up for any success in the future. How about that?

• 10:20Speaker 01

Okay, so I do set myself up for success.

• 10:24Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah?

• 10:25Speaker 01

  Yeah, cuz before.

• 10:25Caleb Hammer?

Cuz you have like a thousand hours of retirement?

• 10:27Speaker 01

No, no, actually, I have fifteen hundred in my 401k. Thank you very much, but.

• 10:32Caleb Hammer?

Come on, don't be a dumb.

• 10:33Speaker 01

What do you mean? Okay, but listen, listen, I, I.

• 10:36Caleb Hammer?

  Are you fucking with me?

• 10:37Speaker 01

No, I'm not, because I put, when I get my paycheck, cuz I know I overspent, I send my roommate the money for rent. So that way I know I don't.

• 10:45Caleb Hammer?

Do you watch the show a lot?

• 10:47Speaker 01

I've watched a couple of episodes, yeah.

• 10:49Caleb Hammer?

I feel like you just mimicked me.

• 10:50Speaker 01

  What do you mean?

• 10:51Caleb Hammer?

Okay, um, so the supplemental income.

• 10:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:57Caleb Hammer?

What have you done with it? So what does the birthday thing? Okay.

• 11:00Speaker 01

I spent four hundred dollars on a piece of art.

• 11:02Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but I'm confused. Again, the income from Twitch went down.

• 11:05Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 11:06Caleb Hammer?

Thousand to six hundred. What does that have to do with the birthday thing?

• 11:08Speaker 01

  Because I.

• 11:09Caleb Hammer?

People are donating more for the birthday?

• 11:10Speaker 01

  Yes, cuz I did birthday.

• 11:11Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so that's not then any skill of the content. That's just a unique situation.

• 11:15Speaker 01

Before that, I was making like a hundred dollars, but now the birthday thing is over.

• 11:19Caleb Hammer?

What's your concurrent viewers on average?

• 11:21Speaker 01

Um, on average, I twenty-five to thirty, depends on, um.

• 11:25Caleb Hammer?

Okay, they're just high donators, high subscribers, very passionate?

• 11:28Speaker 01

Yes, and it's, it's a lot of people hear my story and they want to help me out.

• 11:34Caleb Hammer?

Okay, well, that's cool. I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad. So what is going on right now with your debt, with your finances all around? The little more is coming in. Okay, wonderful, good. That is not a bad thing. Utilizing it and putting it in the right place is what matters. So what is going on? What are we looking at?

• 11:51Speaker 01

My biggest thing that's eating my [bleep] right now is my, is my student loan debt, like my private student loan debt.

• 11:57Caleb Hammer?

  Private student loans?

• 11:58Speaker 01

  Yes, it is my.

• 12:01Caleb Hammer?

  Private student loans?

• 12:01Speaker 01

College Avenue is what it is.

• 12:04Caleb Hammer?

  Had M.

• 12:06Speaker 01

And that's, that's the government one.

• 12:08Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 12:09Speaker 01

  Cuz that, my APR.

• 12:10Caleb Hammer?

  Oh.

• 12:11Speaker 01

My APR is at fourteen percent and I am.

• 12:14Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah.

• 12:15Speaker 01

That is what is eating my.

• 12:17Caleb Hammer?

  Right now.

• 12:18Speaker 01

Yeah, no, that is what I'm freaking out about because that is that that payment is due. I deferred it for six months again because I didn't get the promotion yet and I was still living on sixteen seventy five.

• 12:29Caleb Hammer?

Oh, for sake, what what did you go to school for?

• 12:33Speaker 01

  I didn't finish college.

• 12:34Caleb Hammer?

What did you go to school for was the question?

• 12:36Speaker 01

I went to school um for business for marketing.

• 12:39Caleb Hammer?

Okay, how many years did you go and where?

• 12:42Speaker 01

So um I started out with um at Baylor University and then I went to um. I went back, I failed out of that year um and I went back home to do.

• 12:56Caleb Hammer?

  Baylor's insane, it's expensive.

• 12:57Speaker 01

So I didn't want to go. I knew I shouldn't go, but I am a little like, I'm a people loser, so I gave into.

• 13:04Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 13:05Speaker 01

  Pure pleasure of.

• 13:06Caleb Hammer?

  From who, the fam?

• 13:07Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 13:07Caleb Hammer?

That's crazy. One of the first few episodes we ever recorded someone's pure pressure to go to Baylor and it completely their life.

• 13:13Speaker 01

  Oh, it it did.

• 13:13Caleb Hammer?

Luckily, you have a lot less student loan than them, but.

• 13:16Speaker 01

Well, cuz my mom. My mom took a lot of that debt. My mom took a.

• 13:20Caleb Hammer?

Really? How much does she have?

• 13:21Speaker 01

She has thirty K um from Baylor and I took out, I think, ten K uh for myself from like the cuz I know with students, they do a little thing where like you get your own personal debt and everything like that. So I took out ten K of that. So that's what the the other student loan is for. Um and then I went back home because I graduated in twenty twenty. I graduated high school in twenty twenty and twenty twenty was to begin with.

• 13:45Caleb Hammer?

So that's your big issue then?

• 13:46Speaker 01

  Yeah, is student loans.

• 13:47Caleb Hammer?

Okay, then why possibly? Why possibly? Would four hundred sixteen dollars go to going out to eat alone? One category out of many of all. One thing that could be going to compounding that payoff of the student loan debt, private student loan debt.

• 14:07Speaker 01

  I like food.

• 14:09Caleb Hammer?

That's not cute. That's not funny.

• 14:11Speaker 01

I love food. It's nice cuz it's like you come home from a day of work and you just want to eat food cuz it like warms your soul. It's like soul food. I need little trinkets in life. I need little pleasures and stuff like that.

• 14:24Caleb Hammer?

  I feel like.

• 14:26Caleb Hammer?

Are you joking? Is that a joke?

• 14:28Speaker 01

  No.

• 14:28Caleb Hammer?

  No one talks like that.

• 14:30Speaker 01

  I talk like that.

• 14:31Caleb Hammer?

  No, you don't.

• 14:31Speaker 01

  I do.

• 14:33Caleb Hammer?

I do talk like that. This is how I talk. This is me. This is my life. And I love food. I love food so much.

• 15:44Caleb Hammer?

Well, clearly, but so do I, clearly.

• 15:46Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 15:47Caleb Hammer?

The thing is, you said the student loan thing was the major issue you're dealing with, and that I say you could be putting more money to it, and then you say, "I like food." If that is it, that's the end, right?

• 16:03Speaker 01

  Well.

• 16:03Caleb Hammer?

Wouldn't that just be it? That's the conversation.

• 16:06Speaker 01

They wanted more, so my minimum payment for that student loan was $300.

• 16:11Caleb Hammer?

  Good.

• 16:12Speaker 01

  Was $300 a month.

• 16:13Caleb Hammer?

Good. They want more good than you pay it.

• 16:15Speaker 01

My interest alone on that loan is $200.

• 16:20Speaker 01

  If that.

• 16:21Caleb Hammer?

Good, then pay it. I'm not saying you should have to deal with that. I'm not saying it's exciting that you have to deal with that. But that's what it is. So you deal with it and you don't say, I like trinkets. I like food. I say, good. That's my life. Let me go ahead and sacrifice temporarily so that I have a chance for a better life. Do you have anyone depending on you? Do you have anyone in your life? Do you, are you with someone?

• 16:43Speaker 01

  It's be myself and I.

• 16:44Caleb Hammer?

Okay, you're a trinket, okay. Well, they'll be very sad when you're dying in poverty and you have to throw them away.

• 16:51Speaker 01

They would be sad, but I mean.

• 16:53Caleb Hammer?

I want to give you a real thing, real thing.

• 16:55Speaker 01

  Mm, mm, mm.

• 16:56Caleb Hammer?

Oh, you just feel like a joke. Oh, I'm sorry. Not as a person, just like you're.

• 16:59Speaker 01

  I like being a joke.

• 17:03Speaker 01

My, I was a joke for a lot, a period of my life, so.

• 17:09Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 17:12Caleb Hammer?

All right, uh. Let's, mm, it's like, let's, I mean, we're talking finances. I'm sorry, but like, I'll.

• 17:21Caleb Hammer?

  Uh, I don't know.

• 17:22Speaker 01

Well, I mean, it, I got coddled a lot, like in my adulthood, and that's one of the reasons why.

• 17:28Caleb Hammer?

  By who?

• 17:28Speaker 01

  Uh, my ex typically.

• 17:30Caleb Hammer?

  Your ex, okay.

• 17:32Speaker 01

Yeah, a lot. So when I moved, um, cause I failed out of Baylor, came home, went to community college, and then I moved out to Arizona. He coddled me a lot in that aspect because I wasn't.

• 17:43Caleb Hammer?

  Doing what?

• 17:44Speaker 01

I was going to school again.

• 17:45Caleb Hammer?

  What was coddling? Come on.

• 17:47Speaker 01

He would pay my rent because I was not making enough money to live in Phoenix. Cause I, my rent was a thousand dollars a month. Yes, I was working at Starbucks. I was not getting forty hours a week, though.

• 17:56Caleb Hammer?

  Not getting?

• 17:57Speaker 01

  Mm-mm, cause Starbucks would not.

• 17:59Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so he was helping subsidize. That's not necessarily coddling. That's not necessarily.

• 18:03Speaker 01

  For the entire rent typically.

• 18:05Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but the, it's weird that you're blaming his past action for you. I, I like, I get it if it was enabling bad behavior, but I don't necessarily know if it was. Cause you were working and it sounded like you were trying to get more hours, but you didn't at the job. So I don't know what you're talking about. It sounds like you're just trying to take an excuse for why things are bad today and why you're not doing well now.

• 18:21Speaker 01

I think. I think he, I think he is to blame. I'm gonna be honest with you. I think he is to blame.

• 18:25Caleb Hammer?

The fuck are you? What do you mean? Do you have no ability to self-reflect internally, take any kind of responsibility? Barely even looked at your numbers yet, but that's insane.

• 18:36Speaker 01

  I think-

• 18:36Caleb Hammer?

What, an ex? Again, when did you break up?

• 18:38Speaker 01

• 18:39Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 18:40Speaker 01

  I broke up-

• 18:41Caleb Hammer?

  It's been a year!

• 18:42Speaker 01

  I broke up-

• 18:42Caleb Hammer?

How long were you guys together?

• 18:43Speaker 01

  Five and a half.

• 18:44Caleb Hammer?

  What other coddles?

• 18:45Speaker 01

What, five and a half years?

• 18:46Caleb Hammer?

  What other coddles?

• 18:47Speaker 01

He paid for majority of our life when we moved in together.

• 18:50Caleb Hammer?

  Like what, though?

• 18:51Speaker 01

Like, he paid for all of our food, he paid for-

• 18:52Caleb Hammer?

So needs, okay, but you're working, you're going to school. Sometimes that happens. I wanna hear why it was actually detrimental to you. I understand if it was enabling bad behavior, but you're not making it sound like it was necessarily.

• 19:03Speaker 01

It was detrimental to the fact that I never learned how, but like, I never knew the value of the dollar. I didn't know, like, how much-

• 19:09Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but you've had a year now. Why haven't you tried to learn anything?

• 19:14Speaker 01

  I mean, I, I-

• 19:15Caleb Hammer?

Are you saying, did he coddle all the way up to the moment you broke up?

• 19:18Speaker 01

Yeah, cuz I mean, I felt shit about myself to the point where, like, everything-

• 19:25Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, I have notes that you got your boyfriend an Xbox and used payday loans for it.

• 19:30Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 19:30Caleb Hammer?

That's not your boyfriend coddling, that's you being a dump and borrowing payday loans for his Xbox.

• 19:36Speaker 01

  Cuz I felt that-

• 19:37Caleb Hammer?

I have notes here about this. I had to scroll down and find it, it's deep in here. These, these notes aren't even like for me, this isn't for me, this is them taking notes for themselves. Like, I don't go deep into the depths, but I know you were calling bold. You were making bad choices in that relationship, I know from the conversations you had, based on me digging deep here. But you just wanna blame it completely on him? That disgusts me for like, the rest of this conversation. That just suggests to me that, oh, we're just never gonna take responsibilities for a single thing. You're gonna marry him. Okay? Well, this one's interesting. He was a feeder.

• 20:14Speaker 01

  Yes. So, uh, at like

• 20:17Caleb Hammer?

Trying to get you like bed bound?

• 20:18Speaker 01

I weighed four or I've lost fifty pounds.

• 20:22Caleb Hammer?

  Oh.

• 20:23Speaker 01

I've lost, I don't know, I think I'm pushing seventy five now, but I've lost like

• 20:26Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, that's great.

• 20:27Speaker 01

I was pushing three hundred pounds and now I'm teeter tottering on, on, uh, two hundred. I'm about to be under two hundred and I'm so freaking excited, but he, like, I mean, he would come up and ask me at like two AM, do you want McDonald's? And I'd be like, yeah, let's go.

• 20:43Caleb Hammer?

Or say no, that's not feeding.

• 20:45Speaker 01

  He, it

• 20:46Caleb Hammer?

  He asks if you want

• 20:47Speaker 01

I was so, I was so depressed Caleb that I needed

• 20:50Caleb Hammer?

Well, hold on, but that sounds different than someone who's like, just like endlessly bringing food. He came to you and said, do you want to go, right?

• 20:57Speaker 01

No, DoorDash, he would do DoorDash, cause he would

• 20:59Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but did he DoorDash and then give it to you? Or did he ask, hey, do you want to order some DoorDash? I'm getting food.

• 21:04Speaker 01

No, he would DoorDash and give it to me.

• 21:05Caleb Hammer?

Okay, well, that's different. You made it sound different.

• 21:07Speaker 01

Okay. But he would constantly like, let's go get food. All of our dates was, let's go get food. Let's go do this. Let's go eat food. I'm the type of person where I want to go out and do activities. Granted, I can't do it now, but like

• 21:20Caleb Hammer?

  Activities?

• 21:20Speaker 01

Well, I can't do activities now, cause my

• 21:22Caleb Hammer?

You can do free things, go to a park. Have you ever heard of a park? There's trees. It's great. There's water.

• 21:27Speaker 01

  That's okay, but like

• 21:28Caleb Hammer?

  Wait, can't go to parks?

• 21:29Speaker 01

No, but that's not entertaining. It's not like I, I

• 21:32Caleb Hammer?

Well, you gotta find some value in the happiness of just nature.

• 21:35Speaker 01

But it's not like flashing lights, like an arcade or something like that. You know what I mean? It's not, yes, park is free, but like

• 21:43Caleb Hammer?

Park in the wintertime, there's flashing lights everywhere. Ho, ho, ho.

• 21:48Speaker 01

  Um, okay. But he, I

• 21:49Caleb Hammer?

So you're blaming all this on him. The feeding thing definitely sounds weird and I'm taking your word for it. Well, okay, you've been a part fifty for, for a year and you've lost fifty pounds, which is incredible, or even seventy five. Incredible.

• 22:05Caleb Hammer?

If you've improved that part of your life, why aren't we improving this part of your life?

• 22:08Speaker 01

I feel like I am because I know that I have a problem. I'm aware I have a problem, which is one of the reasons why when I get my-

• 22:13Caleb Hammer?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. When you're aware you have a problem, you don't spend four hundred fifty dollars going out to eat, which is already bad for you because it was already bad for you in that relationship and you put it towards student loans that you said were holding you back specifically, the private student loans, because they're like fourteen percent, because you went to Baylor. You know what actually happens? I'll give you a real world example. Again, this is one of the first few episodes that we uploaded on this channel. She went to Baylor. She didn't want to go to Baylor. Her parents forced her to go to Baylor. They said they'd pay for the whole thing. Your parents didn't do that from the sounds of it, but okay. So she went there because it sounded like, okay, this is where they want me to go. They ended up not paying for her. She ended up taking more, more student loans than you about double. But guess what? Because she couldn't afford to pay for them for multiple years, they went from like eighty thousand dollars to two hundred fifty thousand dollars of high interest private student loans that'll never be forgiven, that'll never be a go away via bankruptcy.

• 22:53Caleb Hammer?

And that's where you're headed if you continue to spend money going out to eat instead of putting it towards the student loans. They wanted to raise the minimum monthly payment so that it would actually start going towards the principal a bit more instead of just the interest. Good! That's beneficial!

• 23:07Speaker 01

The minimum monthly payment was right off the bat. Like, I haven't paid anything when they called me.

• 23:11Caleb Hammer?

  You haven't paid anything?

• 23:12Speaker 01

  No, I haven't.

• 23:12Caleb Hammer?

What do you mean? When is it? When did it start? When did you drop out of school?

• 23:15Speaker 01

I, this year. So my, my, my, I think, I can't remember what the six month period is called, but that started in September. My first payment was due in September, but I did the deferment.

• 23:28Caleb Hammer?

Oh, you got an extra deferment on top of that?

• 23:30Speaker 01

  Yes, because-

• 23:31Caleb Hammer?

Oh, but the interest is accruing most likely during that.

• 23:33Speaker 01

  I know, but I didn't-

• 23:34Caleb Hammer?

Which you're headed into that same situation that that guest had. This is like a full two and a half year reunion with that guest two years before.

• 23:42Speaker 01

I didn't know. Like, I knew, but I couldn't, I couldn't afford it because it was like I had to-

• 23:47Caleb Hammer?

Why? What were you doing during that time in September?

• 23:50Speaker 01

  I, I didn't, I didn't have. I was still making sixteen seventy-five, so I didn't-

• 23:53Caleb Hammer?

  Sixteen seventy-five?

• 23:54Speaker 01

I didn't know if I was going to be able to budget it in because I also was-

• 23:58Caleb Hammer?

Go ahead. Why don't you, why don't you, um, this was a lot of your spending. I think a lot of it was in a checking account, right?

• 24:04Speaker 01

A lot of it was in savings.

• 24:05Caleb Hammer?

  Show me your checking, huh?

• 24:06Speaker 01

A lot of it was savings.

• 24:07Caleb Hammer?

Okay, go ahead. Show me your spending account in September. Let's see. Let's see. I want to see what it looked like because you were unable to make a payment. Let me see. Let me see. I would be very curious because again, so far, it sounds like victim of the world. So let's see. Completely out of your control, September, couldn't make any payments, right? Let's see.

• 24:24Speaker 01

  It was-

• 24:25Caleb Hammer?

  Let's take a little look.

• 24:26Speaker 01

  August.

• 24:26Caleb Hammer?

Let's take a little peek. Okay, we've changed to August.

• 24:28Speaker 01

No, because I started- Because it was deferred because the first payment was due at the beginning of September and I didn't get the promotion until September. They, they gave me-

• 24:36Caleb Hammer?

Let's see August. Let's take a little peeky, little August peeky, and screen record and we'll censor things, just like in your regular statements.

• 24:44Speaker 01

I can't remember because I switched banks, so I don't know if it was in-

• 24:47Caleb Hammer?

No, go ahead and take a look in your spending account while you're doing it. I want you to give me a zero out of 10. What do you think your finances are today? Zero being the absolute worst, 10 being the absolute best. I'm seeing a one on your lips.

• 24:56Speaker 01

  I'm one.

• 24:57Caleb Hammer?

Okay, if you want your hammer financial score, it's free, it's fun. Go ahead, check it out. It's linked in the description below. • 25:22Speaker 01

  It's-

• 25:22Caleb Hammer?

And then Jake is there too.

• 25:24Speaker 01

I can't find it because it's just like more account management, maybe.

• 25:33Speaker 01

This is so much easier on the web. I'm sorry. This is why I don't like the phones.

• 25:38Caleb Hammer?

You're going to give me time for a whole other ad read. This episode is brought to you by learning how to use a smartphone. • 26:20Caleb Hammer?

where I go over my financial strategies. Make sure to check it out. It starts this Monday and it goes through December 6th. Sounds like you're probably spending too much on your service. Have you ever thought about doing healing for $15 a month?

• 26:31Speaker 01

Can I do the two month period?

• 26:33Caleb Hammer?

They have the same towers as T-Mobile. They actually are good, but there you go. You can check off your bingo card for the episode.

• 26:43Speaker 01

I think. Can I just show you like the transactions? Does that work? Or just say what you want.

• 26:48Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Transactions is fine.

• 26:50Speaker 01

Okay, so I will start. And you want me to screen record?

• 26:53Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, yeah.

• 26:53Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 26:54Caleb Hammer?

Guys. Course careers is having a Black Friday sale right now. You guys should check it out. A lot of people in the audience took advantage of it last year. Helped their resume, made more money. Okey doke's, we're back, we're back. The extended act and Sedman is done. We went to Panera. Guys, I'm good thing we went to Panera and Kava. In the colony and it's like not fully. Oh, did you scroll to the bottom? No, I don't have the beginning.

• 27:21Speaker 01

  Okay, so.

• 27:22Caleb Hammer?

  This is only starting mid-August.

• 27:23Speaker 01

Yeah, cuz I don't, I don't spend at the beginning of the month cuz my, how my.

• 27:26Caleb Hammer?

Oh, you do this so weird. Okay, I got you.

• 27:28Speaker 01

  I'm sorry, I don't.

• 27:29Caleb Hammer?

Don't apologize to me. We got tacos, Dutch Bros, an Apple subscription of some kind of winning. I got a drink from 7-Eleven. We're zinning up. We got some Best Buy. Uh, tropical smoothie, Amazon, Tom Thumb. No, you did not have to take it to Furman. All of this stacked up, you probably could have made them into payment. You got DoorDash there. You got Amazon there. You got some more Amazon there.

• 27:48Speaker 01

So a lot of that was probably.

• 27:50Caleb Hammer?

No, we've literally only progressed two days. Star Donuts, McDonald's. Uh, okay, okay. Oh, Freemagee?

• 27:59Speaker 01

What is that? Let me see.

• 28:00Caleb Hammer?

I don't know. Chick-fil-A, DoorDash. We're back. Good. Thirty dollars, guys. We have to defer. So the months we couldn't pay this and we're gonna allow interest to continue, but let's get DoorDash because we're.

• 28:08Speaker 01

We didn't wanna leave the house.

• 28:11Caleb Hammer?

A hundred, hundred twenty dollars sent out. There will obviously blackout that name, but Crush Taco and Sonic Drive-Thru. Let's get real food.

• 28:20Speaker 01

  This is probably.

• 28:21Caleb Hammer?

Surprised you're eating like this and losing weight. Good for you. I wish I could eat like this and lose weight. If I touch a calorie, I gain a hundred pounds.

• 28:27Speaker 01

  Well, I stopped eating sugar.

• 28:28Caleb Hammer?

Twenty-seven dollars. I guarantee you the sugar and all this fast food you're getting. Twenty-seven dollars. Twitch Center. Great Wendy's. Oh my gosh, we're still barely through the latter half of mid-August. Starbucks, Sonic, Whataburger, Amazon. This is crazy. More Kova!

• 28:49Speaker 01

I canceled my Amazon account because I was spending too much.

• 28:51Caleb Hammer?

Congratulations, but guess what? You deferred your student loans while doing this. Apple Bell, Sonic, Netflix, and I am not, Canva that time. PayPal, oh that was PayPal in that time. McDonald's PayPal out PayPal out.

• 29:06Speaker 01

  So that's all of my.

• 29:07Caleb Hammer?

Oh, that was Twitch. Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay. Ay, ay, I'm sure you're even breaking even with it. You spent so much money. Ugh, Fiverr out. Okay, come on, that was $138. You're barely bringing in any money from Twitch. I'm glad you're bringing in supplemental income from Twitch, but the amount of money that is going out for Twitch, another $45 there. And then all the extra things surrounding Twitch is crazy. And the Canva, I'm sure that was associated with that. And Sonic and Etsy out. And Zelleing out $10, Zelleing out $45. And right around there, that's where your deferment went in. That's bull. You decided you wanted to live fun, have fun. If you defer because you could not survive, I would have sympathy. But the fact is, I don't even care if you take deferment, whatever. It's not the action of taking deferment that I care about. It's the fact that you're aligned to sit there without paying any balance and the interest is accruing at 14%.

• 29:51Caleb Hammer?

And I've seen someone in your exact position from Baylor with private student loans, who got it to $250,000. I wouldn't be surprised if they're now like $350,000, two and a half years later. You're gonna end up there. You are going to end up there. And see, you're a human being that exists on this planet. Seeing you get to that position when you do not have to, but you choosing Taco Bell or whatever, and DoorDash $30 over actually making any kind of progress and trying to live a better life and have even more independence? Because guess what? Let's pretend that last relationship was full him owning you, all that kind of stuff and kind of how you made it sound. Let's just fully take your word on that. 100% victim was correct. Okay, you know, like the victimizing yourself was 100% correct.

• 30:34Caleb Hammer?

Cool. Cool. Wonderful. How do you get more independence and never have to rely on anyone or ever get dependent on anyone? You get yourself out of this debt, but you are not choosing that. You are choosing Taco Bell. Ring ding ding ding ding. You're just swinging that bell every day of your life, throwing it down the throat while still losing weight. Congratulations. I'm jealous.

• 30:51Speaker 01

Crunchwrap Supremes hit hard. I'm sorry.

• 30:53Caleb Hammer?

They do, and they hit my fat hard. Somehow not you. But the thing is. You have the chance for the better life. You have the chance to not be dependent on anyone else again. But you are choosing no. You are choosing my future. I want to enjoy the goods now. My trinkets, my fast food, my whatever.

• 31:13Speaker 01

Cause I mean, now is guaranteed. Later is not.

• 31:17Caleb Hammer?

Yep. But guess what? If later is not guaranteed and you die tomorrow, you won't know that you had sacrificed or if you had fun. You won't know, even following, let's pretend, let's, you follow most religions, even then you don't. Uh, it says that you don't know the majority of stuff that happened in your sentient life here on earth anyway. So no matter what happens, essentially based on your beliefs, it doesn't matter. So bet on the higher statistical chance that you're gonna be here tomorrow and sacrifice for it. Cause you won't know if you had fun and you won't know if you sacrificed either. Okay?

• 31:47Speaker 01

  But fun.

• 31:49Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Now see, are you trying to be a little cheeky, a little fun? You're a little silly guy. Stop. You're not. Stop, stop. This is your life. You're, what?

• 31:58Speaker 01

  I like having fun.

• 31:59Caleb Hammer?

  This, this, this, this.

• 32:00Speaker 01

I, it's hard, it's hard to be better when you like, old habits die hard, I guess. It's really hard to.

• 32:06Caleb Hammer?

  Then you don't care.

• 32:08Speaker 01

To an extent I do, I feel like.

• 32:10Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but you care about Taco Bell and DoorDash more.

• 32:12Speaker 01

Cause I want to feel okay. If I don't feel okay.

• 32:15Caleb Hammer?

What's okay? What is feeling okay? What about safety and security? Not having to depend on anyone ever again?

• 32:20Speaker 01

  That feels better, I guess.

• 32:21Caleb Hammer?

You're together five and a half years and you had to fight to get away, it sounds like. Cool. So if that's the case, why set yourself up for a higher likely chance you'd be in that position again?

• 32:31Speaker 01

Instant gratification then. Call it what you will.

• 32:34Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 32:35Speaker 01

But I, it's, it's hard to see the future because it's, I want instant gratification now.

• 32:41Caleb Hammer?

  Yes, we all do.

• 32:42Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 32:43Caleb Hammer?

We all do. But when I got out of debt, which was similar debt to what you have, I put that aside and my life is so much better now.

• 32:53Speaker 01

I can see how it can be better, but it's

• 32:55Caleb Hammer?

And you'll have amazing instant gratifications when life is better, I promise. It's a relatively temporary sacrifice. Let's start with this Discover card. Okay, on here, you owe $1,368.22. I think your private student loans are a couple documents in. I have a $49 minimum monthly payment for your income. These minimum monthly payments are going to stack hard.

• 33:24Speaker 01

So I typically pay, right now it's actually down, it's at a thousand right now.

• 33:28Caleb Hammer?

You spent $2,000 in the last eight months on art for Twitch?

• 33:32Speaker 01

  I did.

• 33:32Caleb Hammer?

For Twitch? But you've barely made that much. You just got lucky these past couple of months because it's your birthday and you have a dedicated fanbase, which is awesome. I love that for you and good for them as well of being so kind, but come on. What kind of art? What are you kidding? What do you, what do you mean spending on art? What are you buying? What are you doing?

• 33:48Speaker 01

My model art. She looks hot as, but I like-

• 33:51Caleb Hammer?

  Your model? What's a model?

• 33:52Speaker 01

So like, I am, I'm a VTuber, so like, the model art moves-

• 33:56Caleb Hammer?

  So it's not even you?

• 33:57Speaker 01

No. It's of my model. Who looks hot as-

• 34:01Caleb Hammer?

Okay, we're not gonna show it on screen, but can I see?

• 34:03Speaker 01

Yes, you can. Do you want to see right now?

• 34:04Caleb Hammer?

I would like to see right now. Because I can judge hotness.

• 34:07Speaker 01

Do you wanna, I'm gonna show you. This is gonna be good.

• 34:11Speaker 02

  Ah, you sound horrible.

• 34:13Speaker 03

Oh, I feel worse. This flu is not playing around.

• 34:16Speaker 04

Dad, you promised you'd be in my band, and it's showtime. Then it's Dayquil Intense Flu time.

• 34:22Speaker 05

For fast and powerful relief of your flu symptoms, try Dayquil Intense Flu.

• 34:27Speaker 04

  Hit it. Yeah.

• 34:29Speaker 05

Dayquil Intense Flu, the fast-acting daytime coughing, aching, aching, aching fever power through your flu medicine. Use is directed, keep out of reach of children.

• 34:40Caleb Hammer?

  There.

• 34:42Caleb Hammer?

  Is involved?

• 34:43Speaker 01

I can show you one with

• 34:44Caleb Hammer?

  No, okay.

• 34:46Speaker 01

Do you want to see one with, or do you want to see with butt? I'll let you pick.

• 34:51Speaker 01

Are you a guy or are you a butt guy?

• 34:53Caleb Hammer?

I want you to give me what you're thinking.

• 34:58Caleb Hammer?

Okay, sure. I guess if I found cartoon characters, I can't, that doesn't excite me. I'm sorry.

• 35:03Speaker 01

Well, then that's that's on you, but here's.

• 35:04Caleb Hammer?

It is on me. See, yeah, the butt doesn't do it either. It's a cartoon butt. It's a very animated butt.

• 35:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 35:09Caleb Hammer?

Like, well, that isn't, you know, okay.

• 35:11Speaker 01

  Yeah, no.

• 35:12Caleb Hammer?

You know, we save the Goonie behind the, our YouTube membership typically, if you, if you're a fellow Gooner like the rest of us.

• 35:17Speaker 01

  I am a fellow Gooner.

• 35:18Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 35:18Speaker 01

  Clearly.

• 35:19Caleb Hammer?

  You can't afford it, so.

• 35:22Caleb Hammer?

The thing, those two pictures, a little bubei.

• 35:26Speaker 01

  I had.

• 35:26Caleb Hammer?

Sighted, by the way, it wasn't even real, or like, you know, it wasn't even there.

• 35:31Speaker 01

Like for a commercling fees because I'm am opening a merch shop tune, so I have to pay for commercially.

• 35:36Caleb Hammer?

  Paying?

• 35:37Speaker 01

  My artist.

• 35:38Caleb Hammer?

  Like Iver?

• 35:39Speaker 01

No, like I have a personal artist.

• 35:41Caleb Hammer?

What if you made net like five dollars in the end?

• 35:43Speaker 01

So for this, I haven't started, it's off launches next week, but I don't know, but based on how much interest it is, because I did like an interest check and everything like that, I've.

• 35:51Caleb Hammer?

Of the twenty four people that show up?

• 35:54Speaker 01

So it's consistently, that's the thing, because it rotates, like not every.

• 35:58Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, I know, we live streaming our YouTube membership, I get it.

• 36:00Speaker 01

  So.

• 36:03Speaker 01

I'm projected to make about six hundred, I think. I need to look at the numbers and.

• 36:07Caleb Hammer?

Mind you. You spent two thousand.

• 36:11Speaker 01

That's not on the, all the commercial art, though, because I spent, that is also on my model, which is a lot of.

• 36:16Caleb Hammer?

Do you sound like this when you're VTubing?

• 36:18Speaker 01

  No.

• 36:19Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, so you have like a voice modifier?

• 36:20Speaker 01

No, oh, you mean like, I didn't know what you meant. I thought you meant like my dialect or anything like that. No, I sound like this. This is how I sound. Because people like different dialect, people talk different.

• 36:30Caleb Hammer?

You get like a British accent also?

• 36:31Speaker 01

Sometimes I do, you know what I mean?

• 36:33Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, stop. Gosh.

• 36:38Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 36:39Speaker 01

It's a terrible British accent, but it's an accent.

• 36:41Caleb Hammer?

Stop yourself, please, for the sake of my sanity. Thank you. They're, they're typing tomato in my chat with them.

• 36:47Speaker 01

  Tomato.

• 36:48Caleb Hammer?

Boo. Like, no, like boo. Like, you boo. Stop.

• 36:53Speaker 01

  I think I'm doing great.

• 36:54Caleb Hammer?

No, job? This isn't a job.

• 36:56Speaker 01

My accent. This is not a job, no.

• 36:59Caleb Hammer?

Oh, my gosh. Okay, you are, you're turning me into the, I've been on your side.

• 37:03Speaker 01

  Mm hmm.

• 37:04Caleb Hammer?

You're literally, I'm going to start not liking you. Please, I do not want to have that feeling.

• 37:08Speaker 01

  I'll stop, I'll stop.

• 37:09Caleb Hammer?

Ah, again, you are a person that exists. I've seen people who get in the situation where you're headed to. I want to prevent you from getting there.

• 37:15Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 37:16Caleb Hammer?

And I take this very seriously, and I know I'm intense, but I take this very seriously because I want you to have a better life. But if you're just around, I'm not recording this. I'm not filming if you're

• 37:26Speaker 01

around I'm not I promise, I pinky promise.

• 37:29Caleb Hammer?

I wanna touch your V tubing, pinky.

• 37:32Caleb Hammer?

So, thousand three hundred sixty-eight dollars and twenty-two cents on here, forty-nine dollar minimum payment, please. A hundred forty-five dollars of purchases, meaning your balance went up even though it is accruing interest, so, mind you, here's some bingo financial audit. It's a credit card that you can't fully pay off, that's accruing interest yet you decide to purchase on it. Go ahead and walk me through your logic there, please, cuz there's none.

• 37:56Speaker 01

So, I had an event that happened in October that I didn't have to make purchases, yes, however-

• 38:04Caleb Hammer?

  What was the event?

• 38:05Speaker 01

It was a event in, uh, the DFW area that I was a content creator for, and I got, uh, was like featured or whatever, but-

• 38:12Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so you should've been paid instead of sending money.

• 38:15Speaker 01

That I purged just because there was little trinkets.

• 38:20Caleb Hammer?

Thinking about GLP-1 meds like Ozempic or Wegovy, then you know the struggle of dealing with insurance and endless appointments. Luckily, our sponsor, Ro, makes it way easier to find out if you're covered without all the hassle. Ro helps you check if GLP-1s are right for you without leaving your couch. No insurance headaches, no doctor waiting room visits, none of that. Just a simple online process to see if you qualify. So, here's how it works. You start with a quick online visit, maybe a lab test if needed. Then, based on your medical history and lab results, a Ro affiliated provider decides if it's a fit. And if you qualify, they've got your back with support every step and access to a provider whenever you need.

• 39:01Caleb Hammer?

You'll be in good company. Over two-hundred-fifty-thousand people trust and use Ro for GLP-1's medication. So, what are you waiting for? That's ro.co slash Caleb. It takes just a few minutes. So, what are you waiting for? Go to ro.co slash Caleb to find out if you're covered for free. I have going inside a gas station for a drink, I have some barbecue catering, then I have specs, then I have specs, and then I have Amazon. So- So, that's not all that.

• 39:29Speaker 01

The food, because they wanted to go out to eat after the event and everything like that.

• 39:32Caleb Hammer?

  Huh?

• 39:33Speaker 01

They wanted to go out to eat, to barbecue, after, after we did the event, one night.

• 39:38Caleb Hammer?

  They? Who's they?

• 39:39Speaker 01

My, the people who invited me to come, go to the event and everything.

• 39:42Caleb Hammer?

They wouldn't cover your food even though they invited you to go to the event? What the, who are these people?

• 39:46Speaker 01

  No.

• 39:46Caleb Hammer?

If you're listening, stop being bad invites.

• 39:50Speaker 01

Well, I mean, it's, I also struggle with people paying for me as well.

• 39:54Caleb Hammer?

  I don't give a why?

• 39:55Speaker 01

Because I don't, I, I think it has to go back to like being financially like dependent on him. Which I know, I mean, based on finances, it's like, I'm not doing well for myself, but like, I don't wanna go back to people.

• 40:08Caleb Hammer?

I get it, but you know that's different. We can separate it a little, right?

• 40:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 40:11Caleb Hammer?

I get this probably a little trauma surrounding that relationship.

• 40:14Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 40:14Caleb Hammer?

I get it. I get it. I get it. And then the like just liquor for days and liquor for days.

• 40:20Speaker 01

I don't normally. So the Amazon one was for my, the business stuff.

• 40:24Caleb Hammer?

And then went inside Texaco and got some bull.

• 40:26Speaker 01

I did get bullshit. I got a monster. Which I have been doing better on because what I do is I now bulk buy instead of, cause the, if you go to the gas station, it's like eight dollars for monsters or whatever. So instead I go to Kroger and I get a twelve pack of Monster for twenty bucks.

• 40:41Caleb Hammer?

I don't care. You went and did it.

• 40:42Speaker 01

Okay, but like I'm doing better. I feel like.

• 40:45Caleb Hammer?

I don't, it's not reflected in your statements. Anyone can say anything.

• 40:48Speaker 01

Okay, that's fair. But like, I.

• 40:51Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, twenty four point seven four percent interest rate.

• 40:54Speaker 01

Oh, that's how much that was?

• 40:57Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 40:57Speaker 01

I, I don't remember how much my, my interest rate on my Discover.

• 41:01Caleb Hammer?

Okay, Capital One, what's the balance? Cause you provided like screenshots of your purchases, but not a balance or interest or anything.

• 41:09Speaker 01

Oh, no, I should have did that. But, uh, my balance is currently, there, there is a pending payment right now to pay off the card. So it's completely.

• 41:18Caleb Hammer?

  Really?

• 41:19Speaker 01

Yeah. Cause what I do is that is, uh, I'm switching everything over to all of my stuff that I need to pay for Twitch. That is all gonna be on Capital One. So what I'm gonna start doing, since I'm making enough money, is I'm just gonna pay off that card every single month. So right now.

• 41:32Caleb Hammer?

Jake, did you have a balance?

• 41:35Caleb Hammer?

Okay. So do we just treat this like paid off then?

• 41:39Speaker 06

Uh, it did say on the.

• 41:42Speaker 01

Cause it's it's paying now it's it's like I literally pay today yeah

• 41:49Caleb Hammer?

Okay the what was the balance I want to make sure we actually made substantial progress

• 41:55Speaker 01

It was three hundred I believe like three

• 41:57Caleb Hammer?

Oh okay yeah listen and that's not it's not it no good job paying that off that is showing a little bit of Discipline there specifically with that card gosh well compare that to like the a thousand three hundred sixty Eight on that other card in these student loans I I really thought when we pay off a card we like paid off a card

• 42:14Speaker 01

So when I pay off discover that will be a big win for me because I've had that card since I was eighteen

• 42:19Caleb Hammer?

  Ah okay

• 42:22Caleb Hammer?

Gosh and that's sorry sorry I don't want to take away from that win I was I I kind of like when you say I've come into a lot of money It was it was like well I paid off this card woo I was like woo but okay three hundred bucks okay so you put money on here to spend it off it's okay Uh if you want the little extra safety net dude use the fizz card it's a debit card but it builds credit so you get the same kind of things but you're not gonna Overspend on it and spend more money than you have in your checking account valve spending in there

• 42:50Speaker 01

  So that's

• 42:50Caleb Hammer?

Humble bundle oh wow I haven't heard of that in a bit DoorDash was still DoorDash ing stick listen here's the thing you're right you put it on this card you pay off this card congratulations that's wonderful but guess what we still have the

• 43:02Caleb Hammer?

  What

• 43:03Speaker 01

  The movement it was funny

• 43:04Caleb Hammer?

I'm excited you have the student loans to pay off even if we're putting the DoorDash on the card that we're paying off that is still thirty dollars that you were paying off towards the card that could have gone to pay off the Student loans that are accruing at a fourteen percent interest So it's still not a good purchase Amazon I need to look at your Amazon and then Sonic and Sonic and zone noodles it's all bullshit this isn't twist spending what are you talking about

• 43:29Speaker 01

Well this this is this is this month this is this month this is me switching over because as you can probably

• 43:33Caleb Hammer?

Great so it wasn't what's gonna be what's actually gonna be different other than you thinking that it's gonna be different

• 43:38Speaker 01

Well because I I have to close my Chase account I have to

• 43:41Caleb Hammer?

  How why

• 43:42Speaker 01

Because I don't want to be with Chase because with Discover checking they pay you early

• 43:47Caleb Hammer?

Oh come on that shouldn't be the thing but that shouldn't be the issue

• 43:51Speaker 01

  I don't want to have

• 43:53Caleb Hammer?

Listen if that's the reason then again it's stemming from just financial Inability to, huh, not immaturity, but inability to manage our finances, maybe financial immaturity, but like getting that pay quicker like a day or two early, that shouldn't be what's making or breaking us. If you're managing and budgeting quick, go through our budgeting class, you get all three of our programs, you get them for free, go through the quizzes, do it, do it with your family if you want to, I don't give a, right now they're all bundled together for ten or fifteen percent off, I don't remember what we decided, but check it out, uh, but, come on, like, obviously with the Chipotle and the Dicky's Arena,

• 44:34Caleb Hammer?

Tropical Smoothie Cafe, go inside and get into both, go inside and get into both tacos and Chick-fil-A, that all, even if paid off on the card, could have been going to the damn student loans and prevented you from turning like that guest that was on the show two and a half years ago.

• 44:49Speaker 01

The Dicky's Arena, my, that was a purchase for my sister.

• 44:53Caleb Hammer?

  Sister.

• 44:53Speaker 01

My mom paid for it, she gave me money on that.

• 44:55Caleb Hammer?

Okay, that's fine. I'm okay with that.

• 44:57Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:58Caleb Hammer?

I don't know if I would have put it on my credit cards, a little risky, what if you don't pay it off?

• 45:01Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, that's true.

• 45:02Caleb Hammer?

  Crew and interest.

• 45:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 45:04Caleb Hammer?

Maybe some business purchases, I don't know, like office, who knows? Okay, so this is the, this is the big guy.

• 45:13Speaker 01

This is the big dude in the room.

• 45:15Caleb Hammer?

Chris, is the balance something you can deal with? It really is. A- as far as student loans go, twenty-eight thousand nine hundred sixty-one is not.

• 45:24Speaker 01

  Look at the starting balance.

• 45:25Caleb Hammer?

Listen, I get it, it started at twenty-two.

• 45:29Caleb Hammer?

I've seen worse on the show, I'm not trying to diminish this, diminish this, but the thing is, I think the average person walks away, school, forty thousand dollars.

• 45:36Speaker 01

  I didn't, I don't have a degree though, that's the thing.

• 45:37Caleb Hammer?

I know, I know, but walks away, forty percent of people, uh, who go to college don't graduate, so I was one of them, but, you know, as far as like, you made it sound like this indestructible force, where it is statistically, if we put it on the scale, is pretty darn in the norm, the interest rate is rough, don't get me wrong on that front, but the deferment, when you could have paid on it, we know, what was the minimum monthly payment at that time?

• 46:01Speaker 01

  Three hundred.

• 46:01Caleb Hammer?

You could have paid that, I saw three hundred dollars of purchases times two, minimum, and we already know you spent four hundred dollars on going out to eat, so I don't give a, you, you're doing this to yourself, you're destroying your life, that's your choice.

• 46:14Caleb Hammer?

So you're acting like this is much bigger than it is. It's not, it's not insignificant and it might feel like it has feelings. Sure. Okay. Great. Cause that's what's, you know, making or breaking our financial situation.

• 46:27Speaker 01

Cause the, the, the, everything feels like a giant mountain to me. Everything feels huge and just looking at that number. Cause it, it accused so much over these last year.

• 46:36Caleb Hammer?

Then, cause you chose not to pay on it.

• 46:38Speaker 01

For this, this, this is a couple of months. I'm going to couple of months.

• 46:40Caleb Hammer?

But that's a couple of months of no money going towards it at that 14%. That's insane. Let's see. Uh, come on. One month, almost $300 of interest is accruing.

• 46:50Speaker 01

  It's eating, like I said.

• 46:51Caleb Hammer?

Okay. No more tongue destroying conversations. We don't need to have that. That's fine. Listen, as, as the thing is, you're just, I don't know. You're making it sound indestructible. Like you have no control over this. And that is victim mentality. And if you have that your entire life, you're never going to conquer it. Never going to conquer anything. You're never going to be able to retire. You're never going to have self-control. You're going to end up in a relationship like that again. Like if everything is beyond your control, that's where you're going to end up. You're going to end up at the bottom of this mountain that you're afraid of. Constantly you're never going to make a single step up. Maybe once you go up a shorter than it seems, you don't know. In fact, it is, cause again, even still this balance, after all the interest accrued and never making any progress towards it,

• 47:33Caleb Hammer?

it is still over $10,000 less than I think the median person uh, borrows when they go to college, whether or not they graduated or didn't.

• 47:41Speaker 01

But I don't think my salary reflects like paying it off quickly. Like it's just like, cause it's gonna.

• 47:47Caleb Hammer?

Sorry. Again, I say that for whom?

• 47:49Speaker 01

You're good. You're good. You're good. You're good. Go for it. Go for it. Go for it. Go for it. I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready.

• 47:53Caleb Hammer?

You spent $400 going out to eat. So salary reflected. We know you could have put an extra hundred dollars more than your minimum payment if you had your minimum payment on it. This is your choice. Yeah, exactly.

• 48:09Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, we're destroying our lives. It's a funny joke.

• 48:11Speaker 01

It is a funny joke. I mean, life is a funny joke.

• 48:13Caleb Hammer?

What? What are you talking about?

• 48:15Speaker 01

  Well, cuz it's it's.

• 48:16Caleb Hammer?

I don't know how to deal with that.

• 48:18Speaker 01

Life is a joke, I feel like, to an extent, because sometimes I feel like it's not real. You know what I mean?

• 48:22Caleb Hammer?

I feel like you're just endlessly deflecting with humor. Like, you have no other coping mechanism.

• 48:26Speaker 01

  I don't. You're so right.

• 48:27Caleb Hammer?

Just like, in like, our life's a joke, whatever.

• 48:30Speaker 01

  I don't have a coping.

• 48:30Caleb Hammer?

That with assuming that this is indestructible and you cannot conquer that, you are never going to get anywhere with that. Never.

• 48:37Speaker 01

  Well, then let's change that.

• 48:39Caleb Hammer?

Well, I would love to. I participate, please. And that change would be good. I mean, you're making it sound like you can't do this, but I know you can.

• 48:49Speaker 01

  I think I can because

• 48:54Speaker 01

I feel like I want to make my life better. I feel like I do. And I think I think I can because.

• 48:58Caleb Hammer?

What would make your life better?

• 49:00Speaker 01

  Paying on that loan.

• 49:01Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 49:02Speaker 01

Because it's not gonna keep incurring rate after like three hundred.

• 49:06Caleb Hammer?

Sure. What's better about your life not having this debt?

• 49:09Speaker 01

Being able to buy a house soon. That would be nice. A house.

• 49:12Caleb Hammer?

  We want a house.

• 49:12Speaker 01

  I would love a house.

• 49:13Caleb Hammer?

  House is great.

• 49:14Speaker 01

I would like to be debt free by the time I'm thirty.

• 49:17Caleb Hammer?

You can do that, I think. Unless there's something in here I don't know about.

• 49:20Speaker 01

No, cuz my, the only other thing that I feel like would be significant is my car loan, but I don't have one. My car is paid off.

• 49:25Caleb Hammer?

Oh, well, okay. What? What? What's your car?

• 49:28Speaker 01

My car is a two thousand seventeen Volkswagen Jetta.

• 49:31Caleb Hammer?

  How's she doing?

• 49:31Speaker 01

She is going to need a replacement here in a year and a half, I feel like.

• 49:35Caleb Hammer?

A year and a half, okay. So we gotta essentially calculate ten thousand bucks under that.

• 49:38Speaker 01

Yeah, cuz uh, she's at one, I'm with numbers, it's one, five, or no, one, three, eight, comma, zero, zero, zero. I don't know how much.

• 49:50Caleb Hammer?

One hundred and thirty eight thousand?

• 49:51Speaker 01

That, that's how much miles she has on.

• 49:52Caleb Hammer?

You didn't know how to say that?

• 49:53Speaker 01

No. I, I think I have the thing where the numbers like to jump around in my head a lot. And sometimes I see the number wrong. That's probably, yeah, it's.

• 50:02Caleb Hammer?

  Welcome. Good to you.

• 50:03Speaker 01

But I feel like that is also I've I've I think I see all of this, right? I see all of this stuff. And I get.

• 50:11Caleb Hammer?

Renting down two numbers. This is crazy.

• 50:13Speaker 01

But it's it's still like I see everything that I have and I think it's just really overwhelming and I think.

• 50:18Caleb Hammer?

I get the sense of overwhelming. That's fine, but I again, I want to correct that mindset a little. The longer you let it sit, the more overwhelming it's going to become. May as well just rip that Band-Aid off. It's going to become even worse and we know that because it went from what? Oh, twenty twenty twenty two thousand to twenty eight?

• 50:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 50:36Caleb Hammer?

So you know it gets worse.

• 50:37Speaker 01

  I know it gets worse.

• 50:38Caleb Hammer?

Actually, let's just do some basic math on this. Let's just pull out my compound calculator.

• 50:42Speaker 01

If I don't pay it for because my next payment is due in March. So if I start.

• 50:47Caleb Hammer?

Let's I'm just gonna say you keep deferring this thing, right? Because you just keep saying I can't make a payment. I'm an endless victim. So so you know, it's it's absolutely burst fourteen percent annual interest on this. Okay, let's just say you don't pay it off the next five years. That becomes seventy six thousand.

• 51:03Speaker 01

  Holy.

• 51:04Caleb Hammer?

Yes, and that's what happened to that other person. She just kept deferring and wasn't making payments.

• 51:08Speaker 01

  Building.

• 51:09Caleb Hammer?

Absolutely. And the minimum payment gets worse. Hundred fifty two thousand if you don't pay it over the next decade.

• 51:14Speaker 01

That is a lot more than what.

• 51:16Caleb Hammer?

If you're not terrified of that, I don't know. This looks overwhelming. You don't even know how bad.

• 51:21Speaker 01

Because that a hundred and fifty thousand, that's like. It's like a down payment for a house, basically.

• 51:26Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, well, that's a huge.

• 51:27Speaker 01

Well, no, that's like that's like half of a house because the houses that I want are like thirty, thirty, thirty hundred K. But it's that's a lot of money.

• 51:36Caleb Hammer?

Uh huh. Yeah, yes, that's what I'm saying.

• 51:39Speaker 01

  So.

• 51:41Speaker 01

I think. Maybe possibly cutting back may help just a little bit.

• 51:48Speaker 01

  But I.

• 51:49Caleb Hammer?

Villain laugh. Two thousand three hundred twenty seven dollars on this affirm.

• 51:54Speaker 01

  Yeah, I defaulted on that.

• 51:56Caleb Hammer?

It's closed. Does this hold off to collections yet?

• 52:00Speaker 01

  I think so.

• 52:00Caleb Hammer?

  No, I don't think so.

• 52:01Speaker 01

  You don't think so?

• 52:02Caleb Hammer?

  No, because account.

• 52:03Speaker 01

  I do have a collection.

• 52:04Caleb Hammer?

Count. No, it's still under affirm.

• 52:07Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 52:07Caleb Hammer?

Okay, could be go to collections and that'll hurt your credit even worse. And you want to get a house? Okay.

• 52:12Speaker 01

Well, that is. So what happened with that is I was still trying to do school and everything like that. So I tried to do that with the dental stuff.

• 52:18Caleb Hammer?

  Huh?

• 52:18Speaker 01

So I just tried to do a dental program and that didn't work out very well.

• 52:22Caleb Hammer?

  For sure.

• 52:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 52:24Caleb Hammer?

Why were you affirming things that you couldn't pay?

• 52:27Speaker 01

Because I needed an education. That was the pressure.

• 52:29Caleb Hammer?

  Why are you affirming though?

• 52:30Speaker 01

Because it was a program um that costs.

• 52:33Caleb Hammer?

  You affirmed the program?

• 52:35Speaker 01

  I did, yes.

• 52:36Caleb Hammer?

Were you still in school while doing this program?

• 52:38Speaker 01

  This was the school.

• 52:39Caleb Hammer?

This, what, what did you try to do?

• 52:41Speaker 01

  So I went.

• 52:42Caleb Hammer?

  Post Baylor.

• 52:43Speaker 01

This, so I went to two different schools.

• 52:45Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, what? Baylor?

• 52:46Speaker 01

  And Grand Canyon University.

• 52:48Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, Grand Canyon.

• 52:49Speaker 01

And then this was after Grand Canyon.

• 52:50Caleb Hammer?

Oh, this is a third attempt.

• 52:51Speaker 01

Yes. And I did not do well, clearly.

• 52:55Caleb Hammer?

Okay, obviously, the course creators are gonna hook you up with one of those certifications. But, and it's free for you. Twenty-five percent off for everyone else for Black Friday, but free for you. Uh, Grand Canyon University, we owe the, we owe to them?

• 53:10Speaker 01

  So.

• 53:10Caleb Hammer?

Only, I mean, it's a thousand three hundred and sixty-one, again, not insignificant, but.

• 53:14Speaker 01

What happened with them is I didn't see when I was signing up for my scholarships that if I failed a class, I would have to owe them back.

• 53:21Caleb Hammer?

Come on, why'd you fail a class? Um. We already know you weren't doing anything.

• 53:25Speaker 01

Actually, why did I fail a class? I think I was around, if I'm being honest.

• 53:29Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, shocker, who'd have thought?

• 53:31Speaker 01

Yeah, probably. That, that makes sense. I think I was around a little bit. I think, no, actually, I was working at Target. And I was trying to, I was putting more effort into Target than school.

• 53:44Speaker 01

That's what was happening, and I would miss my class time because I would try to work.

• 53:48Caleb Hammer?

So why haven't you paid this? Because guess what? It's been almost two years.

• 53:54Speaker 01

No, that, that just started showing up on mine.

• 53:56Caleb Hammer?

  Hmm.

• 53:58Speaker 01

I, like, I've just now started getting calls for it.

• 54:01Caleb Hammer?

Oh, calls for it being closed, but I think it's not, it's not new, though. You've owed it since twenty twenty-three, it says.

• 54:10Speaker 01

Yeah, because they started, what they did is they called me when I was still in my old apartment.

• 54:15Caleb Hammer?

  When?

• 54:16Speaker 01

In twenty twenty three, so it was like probably like

• 54:18Caleb Hammer?

So why, my question then stands, why not pay?

• 54:21Speaker 01

Because I didn't have a job at that point, cuz I, I, what happened is I didn't get my full time job that I'm at right now until February of this year.

• 54:28Caleb Hammer?

Why didn't you have a job?

• 54:29Speaker 01

Because I was the quote unquote homemaker and quote unquote, I was still going

• 54:33Caleb Hammer?

  In the relationship?

• 54:34Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 54:34Caleb Hammer?

  He wouldn't let you work?

• 54:36Speaker 01

He, I wouldn't allow, he was, wanted to make my life better. He wanted me to like, cuz I

• 54:41Caleb Hammer?

  He wanted trad? Okay.

• 54:42Speaker 01

Yeah, but I'm not a trad person.

• 54:44Caleb Hammer?

Sure, why didn't you say that?

• 54:46Speaker 01

People pleaser, I guess. It's just, I really, really wanted to be something.

• 54:51Caleb Hammer?

Well, did you guys talk about it though?

• 54:52Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 54:53Caleb Hammer?

That, cuz that's what I'm curious. I don't mean like, why don't you say it if he won't make you? I'm just like, you did talk about it and he's just like, no?

• 55:00Speaker 01

We talked about it and we decided it would be better if I say that.

• 55:03Caleb Hammer?

  We decided?

• 55:04Speaker 01

  He, yeah, it

• 55:05Caleb Hammer?

  So you did?

• 55:06Speaker 01

We did talk about it, yes.

• 55:07Caleb Hammer?

  And you agreed?

• 55:08Speaker 01

Yes. I am very, I'm a pushover when it comes to that.

• 55:11Caleb Hammer?

  Did you agree though?

• 55:13Speaker 01

In my heart, no, cuz I know that I wouldn't be happy as a trad. I would not, because I like to be with people and I like to go out and I like to create things and stuff like that.

• 55:22Caleb Hammer?

Alright, Grand Canyon, it's a thousand three hundred and sixty one.

• 55:24Speaker 01

  That was probably

• 55:25Caleb Hammer?

How long have you had a job now?

• 55:26Speaker 01

  Uh, February.

• 55:27Caleb Hammer?

Oh, why haven't we paid it since then?

• 55:29Speaker 01

Cuz I've been paying off other things, actually.

• 55:31Caleb Hammer?

Oh, you haven't been going out to eat?

• 55:32Speaker 01

  No, cuz I

• 55:32Caleb Hammer?

Come on, come on, come on, come on.

• 55:33Speaker 01

No, look at the close, look at the close, look at the close.

• 55:36Caleb Hammer?

Even in October, uh, August, August, when I was looking at your statements, it was, every day was just going out, just shoving food down your throat. What do you mean?

• 55:43Speaker 01

Honestly, I kinda forgot about the, the Grand Canyon.

• 55:46Caleb Hammer?

There it is, it's an actual, stop trying to make excuses. Upstart.

• 55:52Speaker 01

Uh, so that was also a, it's supposed to be a student loan. Um, I used it to go to, uh, community college. So what happened is I did this program, um,

• 56:03Caleb Hammer?

This is, oh wait, hmm, okay.

• 56:06Speaker 01

I did a program where they told me to stop paying everything and then they would, um,

• 56:10Caleb Hammer?

  Oh no, and?

• 56:12Speaker 01

  And they

• 56:13Caleb Hammer?

Well, sometimes, oh, fuck, it gets, yeah, okay, what, sorry.

• 56:16Speaker 01

And they would take care of it and deal with the, the, uh, thing, whatever. And then my mother said to not do that and, uh, said I should pull out of that. So then I started, um,

• 56:26Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, sure.

• 56:27Speaker 01

Yeah, so I started, that's why there's a dip in my credit report, cuz it went, I was in the four hundreds.

• 56:32Caleb Hammer?

Well, but you didn't deal with it?

• 56:33Speaker 01

No, cuz I let them deal with it.

• 56:35Caleb Hammer?

But you didn't, you pulled out of it, so why didn't you then deal with it?

• 56:38Speaker 01

Um, because I don't have that money right now, for, cuz it's, it's a lot of little things, little things add up.

• 56:44Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but this has been for four years.

• 56:46Speaker 01

Well, cuz no, I was making the payments on that one for for a little bit. I was making the payments.

• 56:50Caleb Hammer?

Well, that's four thousand two hundred twenty eight owed.

• 56:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 56:52Caleb Hammer?

  T-Mobile for sake.

• 56:54Speaker 01

That one was supposed to be closed cuz that one wasn't me. That one was supposed to get.

• 56:58Caleb Hammer?

  It's on your credit, dude.

• 57:00Speaker 01

Well, no, I did the dispute, the thing in Credit Karma where you can dispute it. I did it for that.

• 57:04Caleb Hammer?

  And?

• 57:05Speaker 01

They, I guess it's back on, so I guess I need to figure out what's going on.

• 57:07Caleb Hammer?

Sounds like you failed the dispute.

• 57:09Speaker 01

Probably, so I need to call them and figure it out.

• 57:10Caleb Hammer?

Sounds like you were likely on it. I mean, when you signed up for the service with this other person, you were probably on it.

• 57:14Speaker 01

  Probably.

• 57:15Caleb Hammer?

Which means you were owed it. I mean, you don't get to get out of it just cuz of that, cuz of emotions.

• 57:18Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 57:18Caleb Hammer?

That's not how this works. That's not how this is ever gonna work. If you signed up for something, you get it still.

• 57:23Speaker 01

But I didn't think I owed on it.

• 57:24Caleb Hammer?

  Consequences. Okay, but you do.

• 57:28Speaker 01

  But I didn't think I did. I I honestly.

• 57:30Caleb Hammer?

Okay, but you do. I I'm confused. That doesn't.

• 57:35Speaker 01

  I didn't.

• 57:35Caleb Hammer?

You know you do. It's here.

• 57:37Speaker 01

Do, but I just, I didn't. Honestly, I didn't think it came back. I thought I got rid of it.

• 57:42Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Well, only three hundred sixty four there again.

• 57:46Speaker 01

Actually, I think that's the one I, no, I paid, I paid off a different one cuz I did have a collection. I should already.

• 57:51Caleb Hammer?

  Probably don't have that.

• 57:52Speaker 01

Okay, I paid off one collection.

• 57:54Caleb Hammer?

I don't have it cuz you paid it off.

• 57:55Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 57:56Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 57:58Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, okay. And then we have federal student loans. This brings you closer to that average.

• 58:03Speaker 01

So federal, I have been paying on time. So what I do is I get bonuses from work and everything like that. So I put that cuz out of sight and out of mind for me. I put all my bonuses.

• 58:12Caleb Hammer?

  Eighty two dollars a month?

• 58:13Speaker 01

Yeah, I put all of my bonuses in a separate savings account and this auto drafts from that account. So that way I know it gets made and everything.

• 58:20Caleb Hammer?

You can make eighty two dollars a month. You can make your three hundred dollar a month one as well. Yeah. Yeah, actually, budget. So, okay, I mean, sure. Guess I can give you a high five for an eighty two dollar a month payment. Uh, okay. I'm glad you are paying on it. Don't get me wrong. They would have actually like probably deferred you without interest accruing.

• 58:40Speaker 01

So what I should have done is defer.

• 58:42Caleb Hammer?

No, you shouldn't have deferred any. You should have cut back in your wants for sake. Two point five percent. Shut up. Two point five percent interest, seven point, four point seven percent on the highest one. So none of them are desperate to pay off early student loans. I have minimum to payment until those are paid off specifically. Oh, never mind. I think I have another collections. Uh, three sixty four through T-Mobile. I already looked at that.

• 59:02Speaker 01

I can't remember if that's the one I paid off or I paid off a different one cuz there was two collections and I paid off one collection.

• 59:08Caleb Hammer?

Okay, well, we'll pretend like you didn't since I don't have another one anyway. Is that it? No other debts?

• 59:15Speaker 01

I think that's it, cuz it's just my, my credit cards, my student loans. And then, um, can I check credit karma?

• 59:23Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, yeah.

• 59:26Speaker 01

Cuz I think that is, I think honest to God, that's it cuz I couldn't get into my, my credit karma.

• 59:33Caleb Hammer?

What am I supposed to do if you're not?

• 59:35Speaker 01

  Cuz I think.

• 59:36Caleb Hammer?

You keep looking. We ended with a hundred fifty-two dollars on our Discover checking account for fuck's sake.

• 59:41Speaker 01

  It's better than being.

• 59:42Caleb Hammer?

For fuck's sake. Sure, it is better than being negative. But for fuck's sake, that's scary cuz that leads us to being negative. We, I mean, we started with thirty dollars. I, you.

• 59:53Speaker 01

Oh, cuz this last month was rough, this last month.

• 59:55Caleb Hammer?

Why? It was your good earning month.

• 59:57Speaker 01

No, because I had to pay.

• 59:59Caleb Hammer?

  Birthday month?

• 59:59Speaker 01

No, cuz I had to pay for car insurance. I paid, I prepaid for car insurance.

• 1:00:02Caleb Hammer?

Oh, okay, listen, and I think most people should. But even if you pay a little more to make it more affordable for you in the moment, and so you don't go negative, maybe it makes sense for a quarter to do.

• 1:00:15Speaker 01

  Monthly?

• 1:00:16Caleb Hammer?

For a moment, like if it literally puts you on the edge of not having money, you don't push yourself to save a few bucks, which I want you to do. You don't push yourself to the edge of overdrafting. That obviously doesn't mathematically make sense in the end.

• 1:00:30Speaker 01

I think that is all of it. Cuz then.

• 1:00:35Caleb Hammer?

Sounds about right, okay. Good. So as many of you know, I've been a big supporter of Course Careers for a long time. I'm not just a partner, I actually own stock and I'm an investor. So why did I partner with Course Careers? Because I truly believe in what they're doing. A lot of people have questions about online certifications versus traditional college degrees. Let me be clear, I wouldn't put my name behind something unless I knew it worked. The thing is, not everyone has the time or resources to spend four years in college or take on massive student loan debt. Course Careers offers a practical, affordable way to launch a career in a high-demand field like tech sales, IT, and accounting, where companies are hiring based on the skills needed, not broad college degrees.

• 1:01:18Caleb Hammer?

In fact, right now, one in three companies are. Dropping degree requirements and that number is only going to continue to grow. I know some people think online programs are a quick fix, but that's not the case here. Course careers takes effort and commitment, but they provide you with a streamlined proven path. They offer up to date self-paced courses, one-on-one or group coaching from people that work in the industry. And most importantly, they help you actually get hired. Just look at graduates like Namasso, who went from driving FedEx trucks to a cybersecurity job at Disney. That didn't happen by chance. He put in the work and course careers guided him every step of the way. And what truly sets course careers apart is that it's not just about learning skills, but landing a job. Their curriculum is designed based on what employers actually need.

• 1:02:03Caleb Hammer?

And their network of industry coaches will guide you through the entire process from learning the skills to interviewing, resume help and beyond. So if you're serious about starting a new career without wasting years or piling up debt, give course careers a try. Start with their free intro course linked in the description to explore your options. And when you're ready, use the link in the description for $50 off the full course. Your future starts right now and course careers is here to help you shape it. You're paying for Twitch here, paying for Twitch here. • 1:03:29Caleb Hammer?

Lots of PayPal transfers. Do I have your PayPal account?

• 1:03:32Speaker 01

  I don't think I

• 1:03:33Caleb Hammer?

I better. Do you want me? Yeah, I want to see it. There's so much money going back and forth on PayPal. Of course I want to see it. Come on.

• 1:03:37Speaker 01

  A lot of it.

• 1:03:38Caleb Hammer?

Why would I want to see that? Well, in what world would I not want to see it as a statement if we're looking through your statements? Come on.

• 1:03:43Speaker 01

  A lot of it is.

• 1:03:44Caleb Hammer?

Screen record for us. Screen record. What were you saying?

• 1:03:47Speaker 01

A lot of it's for Twitch. A lot of it.

• 1:03:49Caleb Hammer?

Great. So even more money spent on Twitch. You've what?

• 1:03:52Speaker 01

  Cause no.

• 1:03:52Caleb Hammer?

You're doubling what comes in from Twitch?

• 1:03:54Speaker 01

  No, no, no.

• 1:03:55Caleb Hammer?

Even in your good months? Come on.

• 1:03:57Speaker 01

A lot of the stuff that you're seeing from Paul is, is from like, I pull from my bank account. I don't have a bank account on my face. PayPal.

• 1:04:03Caleb Hammer?

When we make a budget, what do we? How much do I put in for Twitch? You know, not for income, for spending, because you spend this insane stupid amount of money. Yeah, paying, paying for people, paying for people, paying for people, commission, commission, humble bumble, a blossom stream, that thing, valid. This is more going on today in the Microsoft subscription. This is more.

• 1:04:23Speaker 01

  Oh, I gotta cancel.

• 1:04:24Caleb Hammer?

  McDonald's.

• 1:04:25Speaker 01

  I gotta.

• 1:04:25Caleb Hammer?

McDonald's, come on. More going out to you. More McDonald's and Twitch and Twitch. Gosh, I wish I could eat McDonald's every day and lose weight. More Twitch, more Twitch, more Twitch. McDonald's, Etsy, Twitch, Twitch, video games, Discord.

• 1:04:41Caleb Hammer?

Paying people. Who makes sure we're blanking out their name? You, you paid for stickers $240.

• 1:04:49Speaker 01

I pay that person a lot of money.

• 1:04:51Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, you do. And you don't make enough to do it. And you have high interest student loans that are going to hold you back. Remember what we just talked about? How if you don't pay it, where, where, how, where do those student loans go? Remember that? Remember the little conversation?

• 1:05:01Speaker 01

  I think I do.

• 1:05:02Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, that's where it's gonna go. How about you do that instead of paying for stupid stickers? Pop your Amazon where you're at it. Don't stop the screen recorder. We'll keep going. Cause you, there's so many Amazon purchases or all these things. Oh, for sake, there's even more purchases than other checking account. End me.

• 1:05:18Caleb Hammer?

I do appreciate you coming on the show. I know I'm hard, but come on, I gotta call you out for your bullshit.

• 1:05:23Speaker 01

  I mean, it's there.

• 1:05:24Caleb Hammer?

This is so stupid, the way you're, the, with the Twitch stuff, it's so stupid. Oh, for sake, okay.

• 1:05:31Speaker 01

  So a lot of.

• 1:05:31Caleb Hammer?

Oh, good. We have a harmonica, guys. Life saving.

• 1:05:33Speaker 01

  Well, that's, that's, that's for a Twitch thing that I did.

• 1:05:36Caleb Hammer?

Stop. You're spending more on Twitch than you make and it doesn't make sense because you have student loans that you can't pay off that are at 14% or are gonna ruin your life. Okay, new SBC stuff, 50 sheets of heavyweight white card stock, ideal for something. Some cat litter stuff, dish drying, electric shock collar.

• 1:05:55Caleb Hammer?

  Only use the buzz.

• 1:05:56Speaker 01

I it's on my thigh. It's on my thigh. So it doesn't. I can use shock on my thigh.

• 1:06:03Caleb Hammer?

  It's a kink thing? What?

• 1:06:04Speaker 01

No, it was for Twitch. It was it was a stream thing. Yeah.

• 1:06:07Caleb Hammer?

I was gonna say if you're using it for dogs, only do the beep and vibrate, but I don't like the shock shock.

• 1:06:11Speaker 01

No, I don't either. It though my thigh looked.

• 1:06:13Caleb Hammer?

Actually got another one. No, this is a heart rate monitor.

• 1:06:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:06:16Caleb Hammer?

You have a heart high rate?

• 1:06:17Speaker 01

  So those two.

• 1:06:18Caleb Hammer?

Record. You don't need to be doing record stuff right now. Come on.

• 1:06:21Speaker 01

  I do have.

• 1:06:22Caleb Hammer?

I know you don't need to be doing.

• 1:06:24Speaker 01

I didn't buy that. That is.

• 1:06:26Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, that's a recommended thing.

• 1:06:27Speaker 01

Yes. No, I don't have money.

• 1:06:29Caleb Hammer?

A lot of those purchases were stupid. You can end this screen recording.

• 1:06:34Caleb Hammer?

Okay. And then again, in here, we have more Discord. It's like that was the the Nitro. All those other ones were extra. What are you doing on Discord?

• 1:06:44Speaker 01

No, they should all be Nitro.

• 1:06:45Caleb Hammer?

  No!

• 1:06:45Speaker 01

These are Nitro. Hundred percent. I will back myself up.

• 1:06:48Caleb Hammer?

Fine. Tropical Smoothie, Amazon, Amazon. Then we went out ten dollars.

• 1:06:54Caleb Hammer?

You've been so much money too. Popeye's thing. More Canva.

• 1:06:58Speaker 01

Give us how I make all the.

• 1:06:59Caleb Hammer?

I know, but you you spend more than you make. Again, we've been through this and we know where your student loans go, so I don't give a. Water burger. Huh?

• 1:07:09Speaker 01

  Nothing. Continue.

• 1:07:11Caleb Hammer?

Go. Don't make me don't. Come on. Zell. ATM withdrawal forty dollars. Zelling out seven hundred eighty-two. What?

• 1:07:21Speaker 01

That's rent. So what I do is I give my roommate.

• 1:07:24Caleb Hammer?

  Dark Crystal eighty-five dollars.

• 1:07:25Speaker 01

  That is, yeah.

• 1:07:26Caleb Hammer?

Zelling out. Chick-fil-A, Subway, went inside, got a monster. The fuck is a dark crystal?

• 1:07:32Speaker 01

I think that was when I uh went to do the con thing and I bought cool things.

• 1:07:38Caleb Hammer?

Oh, my. They didn't get paid for it and you spent money and you got. Come on, guy. Come on. Come on! And then this neck checking account, two hundred twelve dollars in there, zelling out money and just transfers. It was simple. What was that original checking account? How have you not had an overdraft fee? I am so surprised. You bring yourself so dangerously low. It's crazy.

• 1:08:02Speaker 01

  Is a hundred dangerously low?

• 1:08:04Caleb Hammer?

Yes. If any payment hits or any emergency happens. Are you kidding me? Then in your savings account, one hundred seventy one. Retirement's fourteen hundred. Okay. So we're definitely behind in a lot of things.

• 1:08:19Speaker 01

I thought I was ahead on my, on my 401k. For my age, yeah.

• 1:08:23Caleb Hammer?

  No.

• 1:08:24Speaker 01

  No?

• 1:08:24Caleb Hammer?

Well, probably compared to like the median, but in terms of where you should be, no.

• 1:08:27Speaker 01

Where should I should be? Cause I feel like I'm

• 1:08:29Caleb Hammer?

Twenty three. You want to essentially be on track to have one times your income by thirty. And at this point, you're not on track to hit that. I would, I would probably guess.

• 1:08:38Speaker 01

What's one track of my income?

• 1:08:40Caleb Hammer?

  What's your total annual income?

• 1:08:42Speaker 01

  Great question.

• 1:08:43Caleb Hammer?

  Come on, come on.

• 1:08:44Speaker 01

  I think it's like, I think I calculated it. I think

• 1:08:46Caleb Hammer?

I'll calculate it. How about that?

• 1:08:48Speaker 01

  Eighteen fifty.

• 1:08:49Caleb Hammer?

Eighteen fifty times nine hours, uh, forty hours a week.

• 1:08:53Speaker 01

  Forty hours a week.

• 1:08:54Caleb Hammer?

Thirty eight thousand hours. You should have about forty thousand hours in retirement. That, that fifteen hundred is not double enough to be able to hit forty thousand hours. So no, you're behind.

• 1:09:02Speaker 01

I do five percent and then my company matches five percent.

• 1:09:05Caleb Hammer?

Well, ten percent is not going to be enough to get you to retirement. You want about twenty.

• 1:09:09Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:09:11Caleb Hammer?

It's okay to start little when you're, well, it's okay to have a smaller balance when you're first getting started. But, um, but to think you are on the right track, you are not in terms of having enough.

• 1:09:21Speaker 01

I feel like since I started in February, I feel like it's good for starting in February.

• 1:09:25Caleb Hammer?

For starting in February, okay. But again, I just don't want you to think that it is enough.

• 1:09:31Speaker 01

How much would be enough? And like with one point

• 1:09:33Caleb Hammer?

By getting into forty thousand by the time you're thirty. So whatever gets you on track to get that.

• 1:09:37Speaker 01

Well, then how am I going to afford that and a house too?

• 1:09:39Caleb Hammer?

Oh, you gotta start making sacrifices, but we need to be able to have enough money to live. You can get house poor. House poor is when you have a house, but you just can't afford to live there and can't afford to retire at any point. That's more dangerous. I would rather you have retirement and rent. In terms of just life security by being able to take advantage of compound growth in the overall market. Listen, I'll sit you down to talk about this and your retirement stuff with the domain money financial advisor. They're my financial advisors. I like them. Everyone in the audience gets a free session with them. If you guys want, I highly recommend it. They're really smart. You get a free session as well. We'll get you connected with them. They can talk that retirement stuff with you. Okay.

• 1:10:12Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:10:13Caleb Hammer?

We need to get you to manage your budget or else you won't have enough money to retire. It's as simple as that. So let's do the budget.

• 1:10:22Caleb Hammer?

What do you think hits your account on a monthly basis? Payroll deposit at 3,000. Does that sound about right?

• 1:10:28Speaker 01

Yes, because that just got, it's, it's a little less. It's typically about 28s because I got a, uh, an influx paycheck recently for my last paycheck was, was 1500.

• 1:10:38Caleb Hammer?

It's 28 and then I'm going to add 500 for Twitch. Okay. Yeah.

• 1:10:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:10:42Caleb Hammer?

Yeah. Is that going to be manageable? Are you going to be continuing to do that?

• 1:10:46Speaker 01

  Yes, because 500.

• 1:10:47Caleb Hammer?

300, but how much money are we spending on Twitch? What am I putting aside for Twitch?

• 1:10:51Speaker 01

A lot since I have two trips to California. Come on. I have two trips to California planned.

• 1:10:55Caleb Hammer?

  Fuck sake. What?

• 1:10:57Speaker 01

I have to go to TwitchCon.

• 1:10:59Caleb Hammer?

  Have to.

• 1:10:59Speaker 01

Yes. Well, according to my manager, I have to.

• 1:11:02Caleb Hammer?

  You have a manager?

• 1:11:03Speaker 01

  I do. Yes.

• 1:11:04Caleb Hammer?

  Come on. Manager who? Who?

• 1:11:06Speaker 01

  Key.

• 1:11:06Caleb Hammer?

  A Twitch manager?

• 1:11:07Speaker 01

  Yeah, a Twitch partner.

• 1:11:09Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Well, of course he wants you to go to TwitchCon. This is a job.

• 1:11:12Speaker 01

Yeah. Cause I have to go to TwitchCon in order to like propel myself forward. Cause if I don't go to TwitchCon.

• 1:11:16Caleb Hammer?

  You have to.

• 1:11:17Speaker 01

Yes. Cause that's where all the partnerships are. That's in order how I move up to the next.

• 1:11:20Caleb Hammer?

  Sponsorships?

• 1:11:21Speaker 01

  Yeah, sponsorships.

• 1:11:22Caleb Hammer?

Get a actual manager, a real person who will go advocate for you for sponsorships and get you sponsorships.

• 1:11:27Speaker 01

But I don't have the money to do that.

• 1:11:29Caleb Hammer?

  No, they take a cut.

• 1:11:30Speaker 01

  They take a cut?

• 1:11:31Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, they take a cut. They take like 25%.

• 1:11:34Speaker 01

So, but if then I lose more or is that?

• 1:11:39Caleb Hammer?

No, they go get you sponsorships and whatever they bring you, they get 25%.

• 1:11:44Caleb Hammer?

How much is this trip to TwitchCon?

• 1:11:46Speaker 01

  It's gonna be like.

• 1:11:47Caleb Hammer?

  How much?

• 1:11:48Speaker 01

  It's gonna be like 3K, 2K.

• 1:11:49Caleb Hammer?

I mean, you objectively can't afford that. You can't.

• 1:11:53Speaker 01

But then also then I have another one too. So I have like.

• 1:11:55Caleb Hammer?

  What's your other one?

• 1:11:56Speaker 01

That one's in June. That one's.

• 1:11:58Caleb Hammer?

  What is it?

• 1:11:59Speaker 01

It's called Off Kai. That one is like a VTuber only convention.

• 1:12:01Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Don't go to that one.

• 1:12:03Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:12:04Caleb Hammer?

But. Don't go to that one.

• 1:12:05Speaker 01

But that one's just for VTubers and that one has a lot of like, it has, it has more opportunity for VTuber growth.

• 1:12:11Caleb Hammer?

Why are you doing this? Come on. We are so close to the end, man. We are so close. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? We are so close.

• 1:12:21Speaker 01

But I, I, it's just in the budget so that we can like.

• 1:12:24Caleb Hammer?

That is not in the budget.

• 1:12:25Speaker 01

It's for next year. It's for next year.

• 1:12:26Caleb Hammer?

Hey, hey, hey. Okay. We'll see how much money is left over, but I doubt if you're going to get it at some point. You're going to get to some damn point. Listen, it's probably not gonna. This is such a stupid thing to bring it to the end. You know, you can't afford this. Is this funny?

• 1:12:42Speaker 01

  No, this is not funny.

• 1:12:42Caleb Hammer?

Then why the are you laughing?

• 1:12:44Speaker 01

  Because like you said earlier.

• 1:12:45Caleb Hammer?

I'm trying to figure your shit out. Buddy, how much do I need to set aside on a monthly basis? You, you were spending money on Twitch stuff. On Twitch stuff, so how much money do I set? You know what? This is what I'll do. This is what I'll do. Whatever money you bring in from Twitch, you can spend that on Twitch, but you cannot spend anymore. Cause right now you're spending double, okay?

• 1:13:06Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:13:06Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so twenty eight hundred is your income, alright? That's what it is for sake. Your portion of rent and utilities altogether is ten thou- uh, one thousand fifty dollars, right?

• 1:13:18Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:13:18Caleb Hammer?

  Is that including internet?

• 1:13:19Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:13:20Caleb Hammer?

  What is internet for you?

• 1:13:22Speaker 01

  Fifty.

• 1:13:24Caleb Hammer?

  Car insurance?

• 1:13:25Speaker 01

Uh, it is about two hundred dollars a month since I prepay it. So I'm prepaid until six months from now. So, but I should put aside money?

• 1:13:35Caleb Hammer?

It's gonna be two hundred a month?

• 1:13:37Speaker 01

We don't know since we're switching providers, since it was outrageous.

• 1:13:40Caleb Hammer?

  Phone bill?

• 1:13:41Speaker 01

Uh, I don't pay for my phone now.

• 1:13:44Caleb Hammer?

  Parents?

• 1:13:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:13:45Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Gas, vroom, vroom, drive, drive.

• 1:13:47Speaker 01

That is about two hundred a month, give or take.

• 1:13:50Caleb Hammer?

TP fund, anything else you need to survive, it's gonna be a hundred dollars. Food, you're gonna meal prep, cook a couple of times a week, uh, and refrigerate, three hundred dollars. Do you have any pets?

• 1:14:01Speaker 01

  My mom pays for them.

• 1:14:03Caleb Hammer?

  Including pet insurance?

• 1:14:04Speaker 01

Yes, she has everything for that, cause she knows that I need them, but I can't afford them.

• 1:14:07Caleb Hammer?

  Medical healthcare?

• 1:14:08Speaker 01

  Mom.

• 1:14:10Caleb Hammer?

  Everything?

• 1:14:10Speaker 01

Yeah, cause I'm under her plan.

• 1:14:12Caleb Hammer?

So, to be clear, you're very still much dependent on someone.

• 1:14:15Speaker 01

  I pay for co-pay.

• 1:14:16Caleb Hammer?

You said, okay, how much on a monthly basis?

• 1:14:18Speaker 01

So I pay fifty dollars, cause I go see my therapist twice a week, or twice a month.

• 1:14:22Caleb Hammer?

  So fifty dollars a month?

• 1:14:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:14:24Caleb Hammer?

That's cheap. Okay, so, to be clear, you are still dependent on someone. You said you didn't wanna be, you refused to allow people to pay your meal, but you're very much still dependent on someone, hearing all this.

• 1:14:34Speaker 01

Healthcare, it's, it's just because she has a better plan?

• 1:14:39Caleb Hammer?

No, and I get that, but again, with her paying for it, you're not even reimbursing her, cause she's getting money taken out before her pay hits. You're still dependent on people. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, but based on what you were saying earlier.

• 1:14:50Speaker 01

Yes and no, it doesn't hit, because she still pays for the same, cause she has two other kids, so it's me.

• 1:14:54Caleb Hammer?

No, that's fine. I'm just saying, you said you refused to be dependent on anyone earlier, but you are very much dependent on her for multiple bills.

• 1:15:02Speaker 01

Yeah. But it it I feel like if I was less dependent, I think it would I don't think I would have the money for trying to pay off anything else.

• 1:15:10Caleb Hammer?

No, I again, I don't necessarily disagree with that. I'm just saying, based on what you said earlier of refusing to be dependent on anyone else, but that is not true. You are.

• 1:15:21Speaker 01

  To an extent.

• 1:15:22Caleb Hammer?

To an extent, yes, of course, but your pets, your phone bill, your healthcare, come on.

• 1:15:30Caleb Hammer?

Anything else that needs to be in your budget that we don't have, this is pretty damn minimal.

• 1:15:34Speaker 01

  Just gas, food, we got.

• 1:15:36Caleb Hammer?

Gas is there, food is there. Is there a gym?

• 1:15:38Speaker 01

No, I have a home gym. Um, and then I would like a trinket budget.

• 1:15:45Caleb Hammer?

  If you're trinket, I'm gonna.

• 1:15:47Speaker 01

  I wanna.

• 1:15:48Caleb Hammer?

What is a trinket? I still don't even know. What are you doing? Cause I've never heard, or is this the new sweet treat? What is a trinket?

• 1:15:55Speaker 01

A trinket, it's like a little thing that you can just have like this. So this is a trinket.

• 1:15:58Caleb Hammer?

Why don't you use your trinkets? This is a trinket I already had. I don't need to buy a new trinket. I have this trinket.

• 1:16:03Speaker 01

  Shiny shiny new things.

• 1:16:04Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, shiny new things. Your shiny new thing is being debt free. It'll be awesome.

• 1:16:08Speaker 01

  But I I like.

• 1:16:09Caleb Hammer?

Oh, I get it. You are a child. You are a twenty three year old baby.

• 1:16:13Speaker 01

I am, but I just want.

• 1:16:14Caleb Hammer?

That's not funny. It's not cute. It's not.

• 1:16:17Speaker 01

Trinket. I just, just, okay, just twenty five bucks, twenty five bucks, twenty five bucks. I can.

• 1:16:21Caleb Hammer?

I'll put twenty five, but I feel like I'm just giving you an excuse to spend money and you're gonna go over this. This is stupid.

• 1:16:30Speaker 01

  But I I need.

• 1:16:31Caleb Hammer?

Shut the up. That's the dumbest thing. I'm upset I even agreed to that because I feel like I'm just allowing you to be bad. Allowing you to refuse to sacrifice.

• 1:16:42Speaker 01

I mean, I'm already sacrificing food. I'm sacrificing with food.

• 1:16:46Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, my gosh. Oh, no.

• 1:16:47Speaker 01

  So I'm sac.

• 1:16:48Caleb Hammer?

You have an extra thousand hours a month. Okay. You have an extra thousand hours a month. Listen, if you want to start paying off that, you gotta pick TwitchCon or pay off that quicker.

• 1:16:57Speaker 01

  How quicker would it be?

• 1:16:59Caleb Hammer?

When's TwitchCon? When you need to pay for it?

• 1:17:00Speaker 01

Um, TwitchCon's in October, so I was gonna do a Dono-thon in, um.

• 1:17:05Caleb Hammer?

If they if they pay for it, you can go.

• 1:17:08Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:17:09Caleb Hammer?

Because I'm saying you can spend what you make your Twitch money on Twitch stuff.

• 1:17:12Speaker 01

Can I budget like a thousand if possible? I don't like.

• 1:17:16Caleb Hammer?

You're taking away a month of progress. Fine.

• 1:17:19Speaker 01

  What if?

• 1:17:19Caleb Hammer?

But but that but I mean, sure, you can, but that is a month of progress you are losing and that you have to be willing to accept.

• 1:17:27Speaker 01

  It's gonna, can I wait until closer? Cause I, I, if I-

• 1:17:30Caleb Hammer?

Of course, but this debt payoff is gonna be by then. Okay, again, all your student, oh, oh, uh, okay, all of your debt together is forty seven thousand dollars. So we know that that takes about forty seven months.

• 1:17:41Speaker 01

  That's not that bad, actually.

• 1:17:42Caleb Hammer?

No, it's not that bad, but TwitchCon is before then, a couple TwitchCons.

• 1:17:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:17:47Caleb Hammer?

  It's four years.

• 1:17:49Speaker 01

So that's gonna set me back a lot, but if, if the-

• 1:17:52Caleb Hammer?

That's if you do four TwitchCons and you pay more out of pocket than your Twitch people pay you, then yes, it will. It's stupid. Listen, I definitely get it. I definitely get it. But guess what? I've done pretty good on YouTube. I've never gone to a YouTubeCon of any kind.

• 1:18:06Speaker 01

Well, then you need, but you need partnerships. So I don't know how you understand do that. I think-

• 1:18:10Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, you need someone that goes and shops partnerships for you. They bring it back to you. You have to see if it vibes with your morals, vibes with what you wanna do. You probably turn down the majority of them like we do, and then at that point, you just accept them and then they get a little cut. It's an agency.

• 1:18:24Speaker 01

So then I need an agency then, so that way I can stop spending so much money on stuff.

• 1:18:29Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, yeah. Reach out to some agencies.

• 1:18:33Speaker 01

  But, okay, but it-

• 1:18:35Caleb Hammer?

Try that. If your entire reason of going there is getting partnerships, try that.

• 1:18:39Speaker 01

It is, it is my entire-

• 1:18:40Caleb Hammer?

Then try that first. You have until October, but even four years, I don't think it should be four years. I really think, I get you wanting to do this thing, but the fact that you're doing forty hours a week is your job and then forty hours a week on Twitch. You could be making so much more progress if twenty of that extra forty hours a week was at a second job, actually bringing in real money. And at that point, you know, that would probably bring in an extra thousand bucks in net after taxes minimum. So you do that wonderful. And at that point, that doubles your debt payoff journey from four years to two years, cause you're also going four years without a fully funded emergency fund, which is absolutely scary.

• 1:19:14Speaker 01

Yeah, cause I, my car has, like, I've had-

• 1:19:16Caleb Hammer?

Exactly. So if we incorporate that into it, it's an extra ten thousand hours. Now we're at a five-year payoff zone. Why not get that to two and a half by using forty hours that you're doing Twitch? And doing twenty for another job. I know what you want to do, but what matters more, the Twitch or being debt-free with an emergency fund and being able to survive? Give me the honest answer.

• 1:19:35Speaker 01

Honestly, Twitch, I know it. I know it's selfish. I know it's selfish, but I would rather.

• 1:19:39Caleb Hammer?

I would rather. That's your answer. That's your choice. That's how you're doing it. I get it. That's fine, but you're setting yourself up for a much harder, longer stressful life. You really are. Whatever. Spending in a budget. You overspent zero out of 10. Wait, did you? I think I did. I'm pretty sure you did. Let's see. Uh, spending. Oh, guys, we didn't even. We didn't even talk about this. Yep. Oh, wait, there. Yeah, wait. Okay, there's confusion. Thousand dollar. You made 4,000. You spent 5,776.

• 1:20:12Speaker 01

• 1:20:15Caleb Hammer?

We went through a lot of spending, but that was your categories are insane. You had a lot of large purchase Twitch spending categories.

• 1:20:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:20:21Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so you definitely overspent. The debt, you have collections, zero out of 10, emergency fund, we have nothing. I'll give you a one out of 10 for just starting. Retirement, you're about a two out of 10. Real estate, obviously, zero out of 10. See if you at least got to one. I don't think so. Did you? Rounded up barely, barely rounded up because you're at a point 0.6. So rounded up, hammer financial score. One out of 10. We'll have you back on the follow up channel. Go check out the follow ups to the follow up channel. But we'll head into the post show for now. I know those extra things like maybe calling your mom and crazy stuff that we're going to do that the producers are going to bring in and dive deep into extra things that they know about you.
