Today's guest is a stand-up comedian, um, he's a host, um, he's a fixture in the world of comedy. He's, he's a leader. This guy's a leader in the world of comedy and clean comedy. Um, he's a one of one, I would say, that's for sure. He has a new film that's coming out in theaters this weekend called The Breadwinner. That's Friday, May 29th. You can go check it out. He's building an amusement park, like a real one for amusement, right here in Nashville, Tennessee. Uh, I'm thankful to spend time with today's guest, Mr. Nate Barghetti.

• 0:48Theo Von?

Yeah, dude, I saw some guys talking about when you would sleep, remember when you were a kid and you would sleep over at somebody's house? You remember that?

• 0:55Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 0:56Theo Von?

And you woke up before them.

• 0:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:00Theo Von?

And just like, cause you kinda had to pretend you were asleep.

• 1:05Speaker 01

Like you were ready to get up and go.

• 1:07Theo Von?

But it wasn't your world, it was their universe?

• 1:10Speaker 01

I would think the, the, you know, that's when you're a kid and the biggest opposite is when you're older. And then everybody's up, you know, in, uh, Meet the Parents?

• 1:21Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:22Speaker 01

That like scene made me laugh so hard when like Ben Stiller comes downstairs and everybody's been up for like a couple of hours. Cause that would, I relate to that, I think even as a comedian. You know, it's like we, like, we can stay up late and whatever.

• 1:39Theo Von?

You're always the guy wandering into the, into the world late.

• 1:42Speaker 01

Yes. And I mean, people are, like, I mean, we, I, I know people outside comedy, they have like a meeting at like 6:30 or 7:00, like a meeting.

• 1:52Theo Von?

  In the morning?

• 1:53Speaker 01

  In the morning.

• 1:54Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 1:55Speaker 01

  And you're like, what?

• 1:56Theo Von?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah. For what?

• 1:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:58Theo Von?

Like maybe with God, maybe that's early.

• 2:00Speaker 01

I could see that, yeah. Yeah.

• 2:04Theo Von?

You know, or an actual meeting with the sun, like if you got an email from the sun, it's like, hey, I'm all, we're gonna need you there.

• 2:10Speaker 01

  Yeah, like the literal sun.

• 2:12Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 2:12Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 2:13Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 2:14Speaker 01

If he was like, hey, I'm here.

• 2:16Theo Von?

  Yeah, either sun.

• 2:17Speaker 01

The sun shows up early, though.

• 2:18Theo Von?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 2:18Speaker 01

  The sun shows up early.

• 2:20Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 2:20Speaker 01

And he's like, I've been here. And you go, nah, I kinda saw ya. I just was like, give me a second.

• 2:26Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 2:27Speaker 01

Just let me get my bearings a little bit. Yeah, 7:30 meeting, they say they have those. I think I want, I would want to be that, though.

• 2:35Theo Von?

Oh, so that's something, like it gets a little bit aspirational. Yeah, dude, I've been, and I hate to say this, because I don't even wanna hear myself say this.

• 2:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:44Theo Von?

I think, oh god, it hurts even coming out of my neck, um, I think I'm a, I think I'm a morning person.

• 2:53Speaker 01

  You know, I could.

• 2:54Theo Von?

And you know what I'm saying? I'm sorry to say that.

• 2:56Speaker 01

Uh, well, I think it's, you know, it's, uh.

• 3:00Theo Von?

I don't wanna apologize to people who can't even handle hearing that.

• 3:02Speaker 01

Yeah, because they want you to be a night person. Well, as a comedian, we are night people.

• 3:06Theo Von?

Right. And I think there's something.

• 3:10Speaker 01

But I think we go opposite. Like, it's, uh, we want structure. I did, like, not to talk about my movie right now, but like, I'm saying, when I shot the movie, and you, you just shot a movie, there's like structure, right?

• 3:24Theo Von?

  Breadwinner, that's the movie.

• 3:25Speaker 01

The Breadwinner's the movie. Yeah, but like, when you shot your movie, uh, it's, you gotta be on set at this time, and this, this, this is, and I loved it. Because I don't think we have structure as comedians.

• 3:38Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 3:38Speaker 01

And we don't come from any of it, and we go, I, I remember I wrote for the Spike Video Game Awards, like, a long time ago.

• 3:46Theo Von?

  Mm-hmm.

• 3:46Speaker 01

  And, uh.

• 3:47Theo Von?

And Spike, is it volleyball? What was it?

• 3:48Speaker 01

No, I remember that TV show, or that T, network, Spike. I think it was like Spike TV.

• 3:54Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah, Spike TV.

• 3:55Speaker 01

They did like a bunch of like random, it was like right when we were like in New York, like 2008, 2000.

• 4:00Theo Von?

Oh, yes, I do remember this.

• 4:02Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. It was like a dudes' channel.

• 4:05Theo Von?

What were some of their top shows? Look up top three shows on Spike TV.

• 4:09Speaker 01

The, they had the game show, or Video Game Awards, I wanna say.

• 4:15Theo Von?

Oh, Ultimate Fighter started on there. The reality show launched the UFC and modern MMA into the mainstream. Interesting.

• 4:21Speaker 01

  Blue Mountain State.

• 4:23Theo Von?

  What's that?

• 4:24Speaker 01

Blue Mountain State. That was, uh. That was a show with Reacher, uh, I know his real name, Jack Reacher. I look like Jack Reacher right now. And this is what he would wear.

• 4:34Theo Von?

Do you? I look like Jack Reach around.

• 4:38Theo Von?

  Uh, yeah.

• 4:39Speaker 01

And my body doesn't, but this is, he wears a shirt like this. Alan Richardson. I know Alan, like.

• 4:45Theo Von?

Oh dude, yeah, somebody always talks to me about him.

• 4:48Speaker 01

Yeah. So he was started out in Blue Mountain State, which is on Spike TV.

• 4:51Theo Von?

  Wow.

• 4:52Speaker 01

And then, um, yeah, Spike TV was like, uh, a little bit ahead of his time. Like it's, it's almost a channel that Bar Rescue. Some pretty good stuff, man.

• 5:01Theo Von?

Bar Rescue, a thousand ways to die? No thing. I'll take one way.

• 5:06Speaker 01

Yeah, but you'd wanna know the other.

• 5:08Theo Von?

I don't need to know a thou- at a thousand, you're just getting, you'll, you'll stay alive forever just looking through all of them.

• 5:14Speaker 01

  That is, but that's.

• 5:16Theo Von?

Maybe that's a reverse psychology. Maybe that's the plan.

• 5:19Speaker 01

Yeah. You get to, I mean, cause it's gonna be a spider bite. It's gonna be, you step on a nail in an artery. I don't know if you, are you on arteries?

• 5:28Theo Von?

Yeah. If you fall off a building and land, like one of your arteries lands on like a little nail or something. Yeah, there's a lot of, yeah, anyway.

• 5:34Speaker 01

  There's a lot of ways.

• 5:35Theo Von?

Bar Rescue, okay, Spike TV. Anyway, go on. Sorry I interrupted you, but I just forgot about Spike TV.

• 5:40Speaker 01

Yeah. You know, it was, it was a great, it was a good channel, especially like Hidden Age, Demographic. You know, this is on, dude, Entourage, we were just, I was just talking about Entourage. Entourage was on during this time. Like, so it was.

• 5:54Theo Von?

Oh, on television, not the same channel?

• 5:55Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 5:56Theo Von?

Yeah. I didn't know that Alan Richardson, even just to think that that's like, that Blue Mountain State was there, that the UFC kind of like, sort of became mainstream by going on a Spike TV and getting like eyeballs that way.

• 6:07Speaker 01

It was like, we'll, we'll take whatever you got.

• 6:08Theo Von?

I didn't understand that. Look up once more.

• 6:10Speaker 01

Spike TV was this Mountain Dew can. It was everything it represents.

• 6:16Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah, Americana.

• 6:17Speaker 01

Just American, American Dew with Spike TV.

• 6:20Theo Von?

Yeah, a thousand ways to die. UFC.

• 6:23Speaker 01

  Just shotgunning.

• 6:25Theo Von?

Blue Mountain State. Yeah, it was all of it.

• 6:28Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 6:29Theo Von?

Um, what were you, what were you talking about? So we were talking about Spike TV. You went on a Spike TV.

• 6:34Speaker 01

Uh, the struc- like having structure with the movie.

• 6:36Theo Von?

Oh, having structure with the movie.

• 6:38Speaker 01

Yeah, like I do, I'm not a person that has any structure.

• 6:41Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. And comedians aren't in general. So when you're on set, you were saying like, yeah, you get this other, oh, it's great. And they tell you too, even comedians, I noticed, uh, they told, and I don't know if they did this on Broadway, but they told me, we told, I told, lied to myself, but that, uh, to be like, they would set the call time forty-five minutes. Really it was later. Cause they knew I was gonna be a little bit late.

• 7:02Speaker 01

Oh, yeah. Uh, yeah, I don't know if we, I, I think that's, I think the people have done that to me.

• 7:07Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 7:08Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 7:08Theo Von?

  To get you there.

• 7:10Speaker 01

But I would show up, like I've been late to stuff. It depends on what it is. If it's something that I know I should get to, I'll, I'll get to. But if it's, if it's not, you can, sometimes it's like, yeah, it's just, there's a lot of stuff. It's, I think it's hard being your own, when you're your own boss.

• 7:25Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 7:26Speaker 01

It's, you can get lost a little bit and you can get, you know, you want to sometimes look for someone to go no or yes. And then you realize there is no one to say no or yes.

• 7:37Theo Von?

  Yeah, it's just you. Yeah.

• 7:38Speaker 01

  It's just you.

• 7:39Theo Von?

Yeah, I reali- I realized that I work for myself and I'm not the best employee, I realize.

• 7:44Speaker 01

Mm-hmm. I could, yeah. That makes sense. Like it's, yeah, you, you can, you don't live up to maybe what you're doing. But you know, then, but if someone sees what you're doing, they're like, you're doing everything.

• 7:55Theo Von?

  Right.

• 7:55Speaker 01

So then they're like, you're doing great. And you're just gonna beat up yourself. Uh,

• 8:01Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 8:01Speaker 01

Because you think like, I should be doing more. I mean, I think about like the, you know, I should be.

• 8:05Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. When you're working for yourself.

• 8:07Speaker 01

Get structure. I have no structure.

• 8:09Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 8:09Speaker 01

Athletes have structure. They have like, uh, routines.

• 8:13Theo Von?

Yeah. Yeah, there's no like comedy. There's not like a bell that goes off early in the morning where it's like comedians grab your pens and start your writing.

• 8:22Speaker 01

And we, like you said, if you're a morning person, you think that goes against everything that you're supposed to be, cause your shows are at night. And when you come up, you're out very late. But then the longer you're in it, you kind of like want to just get up earlier and have a routine.

• 8:39Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 8:40Speaker 01

And then it's like, that's my fantasies, just to have a routine.

• 8:43Theo Von?

Oh, to adhere to an alarm clock, that's

• 8:46Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 8:47Theo Von?

  That's a fantasy of mine.

• 8:48Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, not a lot of alarm clock, you know. You don't set alarm clocks, because it just doesn't.

• 8:53Theo Von?

Dude, I would set my alarm clock and then hide my phone in between the mattresses on the other side of the bed that I slept on.

• 8:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 8:59Theo Von?

So like over there, and I would never even hear it.

• 9:01Speaker 01

Because it's quiet, because it's under the mattress, it's quiet.

• 9:04Theo Von?

It didn't stand a chance. So I wanted structure, but I was just not willing to adhere to it. Yes, I'm like, I work for myself and I'm the worst employee. I would, I would go smoke behind the dumpsters like I was hiding from myself. Like, what are we even doing?

• 9:16Speaker 01

Yeah, I think you want someone to be in charge.

• 9:20Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 9:21Speaker 01

  I had an old joke.

• 9:21Theo Von?

Unfortunately, it's you every time. That's the problem. You had an old show, what?

• 9:25Speaker 01

I had an old joke where I said, uh, you know, it's like with, the thing with comedy is like, if you wanted to quit comedy, there's no one to quit to. So you like, can't call Seinfeld and be like, hey, I'm out. Like, there's no one, no one cares if you quit. No one. There's no one to say you quit to. And then if you get to a point where you have this giant audience and you quit, then you feel like you gotta, you can't just quit.

• 9:48Theo Von?

  No.

• 9:48Speaker 01

Because then everybody's like, where are you at? So even if you wanted to quit, you're like, I don't know, you gotta, what are you gonna do, make a video? And then everybody's like, why are you quit? And you're like, now you're quitting to millions of people.

• 9:58Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 9:59Speaker 01

And you're like, no, I just wanted to kind of slowly fade.

• 10:03Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 10:03Speaker 01

Daniel Day Lewis, I always think is an act, like, you don't know anything about that guy.

• 10:08Theo Von?

  Hmm.

• 10:09Speaker 01

You know, he comes out for, you know, just to basically win an Oscar and then

• 10:15Theo Von?

  He goes back.

• 10:16Speaker 01

Goes back to whatever he does and that guy, I don't know what he does.

• 10:20Theo Von?

Yeah, I don't know what he does either. And Daniel Day Lewis, yeah. I mean, he has Day in his name, that's so.

• 10:27Speaker 01

  Probably gets up early.

• 10:29Theo Von?

For sure, if he's putting that in there.

• 10:31Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:32Theo Von?

Um, but yeah, no idea. Comes out, gets his thing, boy in the, uh, left foot, red foot.

• 10:39Speaker 01

  My left foot.

• 10:40Theo Von?

  My left foot, dude.

• 10:41Speaker 01

No, I haven't seen it, but.

• 10:43Theo Von?

  It's pretty good. It's

• 10:44Speaker 01

  Have you?

• 10:44Theo Von?

It's older, yeah, I've seen it.

• 10:46Speaker 01

  Really?

• 10:46Theo Von?

  It's about

• 10:47Speaker 01

Is it anything to do with his feet?

• 10:49Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 10:50Speaker 01

  Oh, really? It does?

• 10:51Theo Von?

Bring it up. Let's just find out, what was it? My left foot. Hold on, let me take a gander at what I thought it was really quick. It was a man? I believe, I think there was like a train accident. He gets his, it takes place like in the south. He gets one of his feet hit by a train and then he has to operate and fall in love, I guess, with just only his other foot. He has to fall in love with someone else with only his other foot to be able to like hand them a flower.

• 11:16Speaker 01

So his left foot is like, it's like.

• 11:19Theo Von?

  It's necessary.

• 11:20Speaker 01

  It's a big deal.

• 11:21Theo Von?

Yes. Let's see it. No one expects much from Christie Brown, Daniel Day Lewis, a boy with cerebral palsy, born into a working class Irish family. Okay.

• 11:29Speaker 01

  No train.

• 11:30Theo Von?

  Little different.

• 11:32Speaker 01

  Uh, that's a train.

• 11:33Theo Von?

With the help of his steely mother and no shortage of grit and determination, Christie overcomes his infirmity to become a painter, poet and author.

• 11:40Speaker 01

Oh, is it like a true story?

• 11:42Theo Von?

Though Christie is as fast a quadriplegic and essentially paralyzed, a miraculous event occurs when, at the age of five, he demonstrates control of his left foot by using chalk to scrawl a word on the floor.

• 11:53Theo Von?

Oh yeah, I remember this now. Different movie than I was thinking, but still a great movie.

• 11:58Speaker 01

  You, yeah, the train.

• 12:01Theo Von?

Yeah, I was thinking of Fried Green Tomatoes. That's what I was thinking of. I just realized that.

• 12:04Speaker 01

That has a train in it?

• 12:05Theo Von?

  Yeah. Little crossover.

• 12:08Speaker 01

Yeah, that's, but that's a good, you know, the only train movie I think of is that one Denzel Washington.

• 12:15Speaker 01

  It's good.

• 12:16Theo Von?

  Training Day.

• 12:19Speaker 01

I don't think it's Training Day. There's one where he, there is an actual train.

• 12:23Theo Von?

How is it not Training Day?

• 12:23Speaker 01

But there's one that there is a Unstoppable.

• 12:26Theo Von?

  Oh, I haven't seen that.

• 12:27Speaker 01

It's great. That's kind of where I'm at. I haven't seen My Left Foot, but I've seen, uh, no Pelican 123 maybe. That's it.

• 12:37Theo Von?

  Oh, Pelham 123.

• 12:38Speaker 01

Is that got a train? I think there's a train in that.

• 12:42Theo Von?

And was there a movie called Training Day?

• 12:44Speaker 01

  There is.

• 12:45Theo Von?

  Is Denzel Washington in it?

• 12:46Speaker 01

Nothing to do with the train. But that was Denzel, yeah, that's, he won an Oscar for that.

• 12:50Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 12:51Speaker 01

  Or maybe, maybe he did.

• 12:53Theo Von?

We shouldn't go to the theater, I don't think. But, uh, but you have a new-

• 12:57Speaker 01

  Yeah, this was good.

• 12:57Theo Von?

You have a new movie, you have, your movie's coming out.

• 12:59Speaker 01

  Yeah, No Trains.

• 13:00Theo Von?

  May 29th.

• 13:02Speaker 01

  May 29th, yes.

• 13:03Theo Von?

  Breadwinner.

• 13:03Speaker 01

  Breadwinner.

• 13:04Theo Von?

And it's in theaters. In theaters. Um, and you have a Nate rate, what did I see, what is this?

• 13:09Speaker 01

Yeah, we got the, we, we, we talked to all the movie theaters and, uh, got prices lowered.

• 13:16Theo Von?

  Nice.

• 13:17Speaker 01

So, yeah, yeah, just because we want the whole family to come out. It's interesting with the movies, man. You start looking at like theaters, like, you know, you guys make your in distribution, all this. Like, you know, think about touring. Like, it's, it's hard not to think about movies and touring is kind of like the same kind of thing, you know, you get a promoter, you get this, you go to every town. Like, if you make a movie and you go to these theaters and they're in every single town and you kind of go, like, did you hear about that kid on, uh, YouTube? He did a horror movie. And he's got a bunch of subscribers on YouTube. And he's, he's a big horror fan, I think, and they made a movie. He made a movie, and I mean,

• 13:56Speaker 01

it was, you know, it was going to go out to a few theaters, then his fans just started calling their theaters, being like, no, we want it to come. And it was like a huge success. And he made it for, I want to say three million and then, uh, yeah, uh,

• 14:11Theo Von?

  Let me see.

• 14:11Speaker 01

Iron, is it, yeah, it's like-

• 14:13Theo Von?

  Something iron, no.

• 14:14Speaker 01

  Iron something.

• 14:15Theo Von?

  It was iron something.

• 14:16Speaker 01

  And then, Iron Lung, yeah.

• 14:20Theo Von?

  Was that it?

• 14:20Speaker 01

Yep. Grossed over 50 million, I think he made it for three.

• 14:23Theo Von?

  Wow.

• 14:24Speaker 01

But it was like, that's a guy that just basically did it like a tour. Like how we would tour and sell tickets.

• 14:30Theo Von?

  Markiplier.

• 14:31Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 14:32Theo Von?

That was a guy's name, Markiplier. And what does it say? Can you take me into the, the, what happened with the movie?

• 14:37Speaker 01

He just made it. He said he wanted to make it.

The Iron Lung movie was independently self-financed and created by YouTuber Mark Fishbach, Markiplier, who wrote, directed, produced, edited, and started and operating without a major studio. He shot the film over 35 days using a life-size 9,000-pound submarine set mounted on a hydraulic motion rig. Wow. After struggling to find traditional Hollywood distribution, he self-distributed the film. Massive fan campaigns convinced major theater chains.

• 15:04Theo Von?

To screen it, the indie film became a massive box office hit grossing fifty million on a four million budget. Wow.

• 15:09Speaker 01

So he had his fans all call, I bet they, once he said he wanted to go out, he was in a few theaters and his fans kept calling their theaters in their towns. And they said they want to see it and then he went out and said, four million dollar budget.

• 15:22Theo Von?

  That's amazing. That's incredible dude.

• 15:24Speaker 01

But that's where you see movies where you're like, that guy did it kind of like how you would tour on a comedy club. Like you're going and selling tickets just in these towns.

• 15:34Theo Von?

  Right.

• 15:35Speaker 01

And so if you got a big following like that, that tours and you go make a movie, I mean, I, you know, it's like, can he go do that? You know, I understand the, uh, one time is kind of like, oh yeah, it's crazy. So it'd be, be magic if can he go do it again or can you repeat it and?

• 15:52Theo Von?

Yeah, it's interesting. I mean, even with our own movie, I don't know what we sold compared to like if I were touring in a place as opposed to people that came out to go to the theaters. Um, I know, well, I don't think it was close, but I do know that I had a lot of friends who were like, dude, I haven't been to the movie theater in eight years.

• 16:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:11Theo Von?

  Ten years, right?

• 16:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:13Theo Von?

I had a lot of people who went to the movie theaters by themselves, dude. We had one video of a dude. He sent it in, he went to the movie theater, nobody else was in the theater, right?

• 16:23Theo Von?

He ends up watching, uh, what was this dude's name? I gotta find it. We'll put it in. He ends up just taking his shirt off and sitting there and watching the movie by himself, relaxing. He was the only guy in there.

• 16:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:33Theo Von?

Watched the whole thing by himself. This dude, I think it's like, it was this guy, it's like this like Latino guy. He's at work and he's like, bro, I'm freaking tired, but. I want to go see this movie maybe. I don't know. And then you see him walking. He's like, nobody's even here. And then like 10 minutes later, he's like, I guess I'll just enjoy myself.

• 16:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:51Theo Von?

I don't know what happened after that. I mean, he just, we know he had the shirt off and watched it. Um, oh yeah, this is him right here, dude. This is the guy. Can you pull it up?

• 17:01Speaker 02

Man, I just got off of work.

• 17:05Speaker 02

I got this [BLEEP] game, a movie I'm trying to go watch.

• 17:11Speaker 02

I don't feel like doing shit to be honest. But look, I still made it in this [__], but look, check it out. Ain't nobody in this [__] bro. This [__] out to myself cuz.

• 17:23Speaker 03

They can't put 355 windows with every tune you purchase. It champion makes buying windows easy.

• 17:29Speaker 01

  He just took it.

• 17:32Theo Von?

And he had to set the phone up somewhere and do this. That's kind of a vibe though dude. That's him right there, golden cheeseburger right there, golden underscore cheeseburger. Shout out him being a hard worker, went to catch a movie.

• 17:44Speaker 01

I'd never even thought about wanting to take your shirt off. I think people either don't or do want to take their shirt off.

• 17:48Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 17:49Speaker 01

I'm a, I'm a not, I don't want to take my shirt off, but I mean, if someone wants to buddy, they want to.

• 17:55Theo Von?

  Oh, we know a guy.

• 17:56Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, we did.

• 17:57Theo Von?

We know a guy. Yeah, sometimes I wish we'd have tried to go in more theaters, but.

• 18:01Speaker 01

  Going to, uh.

• 18:03Theo Von?

But yeah, taking your shirt off. But going what?

• 18:05Speaker 01

Going to theater alone, man, that like, it's pretty great. That's something you do a lot as a comic on the road.

• 18:11Theo Von?

  Hmm.

• 18:12Speaker 01

You can hit some, you know, you get some movie at noon.

• 18:15Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 18:15Speaker 01

And you just by yourself in there.

• 18:17Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 18:17Speaker 01

Have you ever had someone come sit right next to you? I've been by my, I've been like by myself or like maybe one other comic. And then two more people walk in, they sit in the seats in front of us.

• 18:27Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 18:27Speaker 01

  Drives me nuts.

• 18:28Theo Von?

  And what do you do?

• 18:30Speaker 01

  I'll move.

• 18:31Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 18:32Speaker 01

Cause I, or I'll sit there and just be angry during the whole movie.

• 18:36Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 18:36Speaker 01

Cause why would you do that?

• 18:38Theo Von?

  Oh dude, yeah.

• 18:39Speaker 01

Why would you sit right, you know, just go sit, it's empty. Just go sit like.

• 18:46Theo Von?

  Somewhere.

• 18:47Speaker 01

  Somewhere else up.

• 18:48Theo Von?

And, but here's the thing though, if you sit too far away from that person, you think they feel kind of left out or something?

• 18:53Speaker 01

I would, no, I would go as far away from them. I'm one that doesn't want to really be near someone.

• 19:01Theo Von?

Well, of course, near someone in a dark theater that you don't know, that's.

• 19:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:05Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 19:05Speaker 01

I think you gotta have space. I mean, I would sit, like when you go with a buddy, like we don't sit next to each other, you have that empty seat.

• 19:11Theo Von?

  Thank you.

• 19:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:12Theo Von?

When we went to Kevin James movie, you and I sat next to each other and we kept a seat between us.

• 19:16Speaker 01

We kept a seat between us.

• 19:17Theo Von?

  Like civilized people.

• 19:19Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we were normal.

• 19:22Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 19:22Speaker 01

And we enjoyed the movie more.

• 19:24Theo Von?

Oh yeah, it was good dude.

• 19:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:26Theo Von?

Like Beetlejuice, you ever been to a movie, you, you, you ever see that guy Beetlejuice?

• 19:29Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm. From Stern?

• 19:31Theo Von?

We called him up, we offered him money to come on this podcast one time.

• 19:34Speaker 01

  And he said no?

• 19:35Theo Von?

This is what he said, this is the craziest part. He's like, where are you gonna, where are you gonna leave the money at?

• 19:42Theo Von?

  And I couldn't like,

• 19:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:44Theo Von?

  And he,

• 19:45Speaker 01

And just from there, it was like,

• 19:47Theo Von?

  Oh, it was downhill.

• 19:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:48Theo Von?

It was so hard. He's like, yeah, where are you gonna put the money at?

• 19:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:52Theo Von?

And I was like, oh. And I couldn't explain to him like at the bank or whatever.

• 19:56Speaker 01

Yeah. We're gonna send you a check.

• 19:58Theo Von?

  Yeah, unreal.

• 19:59Speaker 01

  Yeah, wire, anything.

• 20:02Theo Von?

You know, America's 250th birthday is coming up. Whew, that's gonna be a big cake. And who's, who's even gonna blow out the candles on one? Or probably, maybe Thomas Jefferson will come down from the clouds and huff and puff a few out. Maybe Betsy Ross or Frederick Douglass. I don't know, somebody. Somebody from history, somebody that's regal and admired. He's gonna come on down and just huff and puff them cake candles out. Happy 250th, America. • 23:09Speaker 01

Yeah, but I think you're heading more towards that kind of stuff with experience. I mean, you've seen people get, you're seeing a lot of things, Netflix House. You've seen a lot of things where they want to experience.

• 23:20Theo Von?

Netflix House, you're saying? What is it?

• 23:21Speaker 01

Yeah, Netflix is doing a, they're starting to build these Netflix Houses.

• 23:26Theo Von?

  Which are like movie theaters?

• 23:27Speaker 01

Uh, no, it's, it's like they would have John Wick and they would have like, I went to one, like, there you go. Like, so it's like all your favorite Netflix shows and you get to interact with it in some way.

• 23:38Theo Von?

Oh, but you can also watch the shows in the place?

• 23:40Speaker 01

No, no, you're not watching them. You're just, like a Squid Game, they have like a Squid Game thing you can go through. And then, so you go in and you spend the night or day and you just get to interact with your favorite show, Stranger Things. You get to go through a Stranger Things set or play a little game or, and that, this kind of thing, I believe, I believe live experiences are gonna go, that's where, that's where it's at. That's why I think stand-up comics are in a terrific spot because you're, you can't AI.

• 24:14Speaker 01

  A live performance.

• 24:15Theo Von?

  Right.

• 24:16Speaker 01

And you, I mean, you can do hologram and that kind of stuff, but.

• 24:22Theo Von?

Well, yeah, we're the only place, I mean, what else even outside of standup comedy, where else are people even outside of like pastors at churches, I'm trying to think, or reverends.

• 24:31Speaker 01

  That's true.

• 24:32Theo Von?

Preachers or, or rabbis, or, but who, like outside of those people, you have musicians, but they, you kind of know what you're getting because it's like their songs.

• 24:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:43Theo Von?

But I'm trying to think of where else is there like, well, I guess.

• 24:45Speaker 01

But then you don't know what's influenced with what. So like even if they're songs or if they're singing or whatever it is. I mean, I would think, you know, some folk music like that, you, you're going to have to have stuff like that where you're like straight up, you know, there's nothing added into it and there's nothing, or it's going to be a very big spectacular, uh, spectacle show. You're going to have to go either super big or you're going to have to be, I think, like standup where it's just you, me, we're talking to a crowd and there's nothing in the middle.

• 25:15Theo Von?

Right. Well, yeah, that's what I'm saying is like, there's not a place where you go to get a pure voice anymore. There's not that, you know what I'm saying? Like that's not refined or it's not overly produced.

• 25:23Speaker 01

It's the most authentic. That's why, I mean, I hope young entertainers, I hope standup comics that are getting into it, get into it and they get in there and create an act and, cause you're going to be, uh, the only place, you know, essentially where you could maybe be actually hearing a real person. Preacher is a good example too. Like it's where you're going to, you know, have straight on like, I just want to, I want to see the person. You know, cause there's so much stuff people don't trust. So you're like, I just want to see the person. I want to see the person talking. I want to.

• 25:58Theo Von?

Well, I want the truth. I want that, I want.

• 26:00Speaker 01

Humanity, like that I could touch that person.

• 26:03Theo Von?

And I want what they really believe, I feel like.

• 26:05Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 26:05Theo Von?

Like with humor, I think. At the base of a lot of our humor, I think a lot of it, I mean, sometimes you're joking around, but some of your true laurels are in there. Like, these are some of my, you know, like, some, we all have a backbone of stuff that's in there.

• 26:17Speaker 01

Yeah, who you are, like, yeah, I mean, I think unless you're like a one liner guy or something like that.

• 26:22Theo Von?

  That's hard to really know.

• 26:23Speaker 01

It's, but yeah, but who, yeah, who you are is gonna be kind of, you know.

• 26:27Theo Von?

  Somewhat in there.

• 26:28Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 26:29Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 26:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 26:29Theo Von?

Cause yeah, it's hard to get like a true like, okay, what does this person think? And are they just speaking directly to me without a lot of influence? It's like pastors, comedians, I'm not putting us in some special space or anything. I'm just saying, oh, here you go.

• 26:43Speaker 01

Teachers or professors, but I mean, like, look, it's.

• 26:47Theo Von?

But teachers, some of that stuff is kind of like, um, they have to follow a curriculum. Um, oh dude, when somebody's tickling you, that's when you have to tell the truth. Think about that.

• 26:56Speaker 01

  A tickler?

• 26:57Theo Von?

If, no, not the tickler's a creep or whatever.

• 27:00Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:00Theo Von?

But the person, if you're being tickled, try, you ever tried to lie to somebody while they're tickling you?

• 27:06Speaker 01

  It's impossible.

• 27:08Theo Von?

  Impossible.

• 27:08Speaker 01

Yeah. Maybe I'll be up there.

• 27:11Theo Von?

It's impossible. That's why when I see all this waterboarding and torture or whatever, and all this horrible stuff they're doing to people sometimes, I'm like, dude.

• 27:17Speaker 01

  Tickle. Yeah, get in there.

• 27:20Theo Von?

  Unleash them.

• 27:20Speaker 01

Get under their arm. I don't know.

• 27:21Theo Von?

Unleash them craw dads on somebody and you'll get it.

• 27:24Speaker 01

Grab their, grab their thigh right there.

• 27:27Theo Von?

Oh, oh dude, bro, where were you? This is our JFK. Where were you? People, you always knew you could get tickled like this, right? You knew that, right? And even if there's a chubby kid and you grab that little donut around his midsection and just shake the frickin' truth out of his little thick ass or whatever. Sorry, and we'll edit that. But when somebody did that to you, how shocked were you? I didn't know that. When somebody did that.

• 27:50Speaker 01

Yeah, I remember like, uh, I used to do it to my daughter too. Like you'd grab their leg there and then just be like, well, don't smile. Don't smile. Don't, you know, and then, yeah. Yeah, that's right. Tickling, maybe it's gonna be a big, um, it'll come back. You know, but you need ticklers. So then where you go, where are you going to do that in a safe?

• 28:11Theo Von?

We'll probably get government issued ticklers and those people are going to be.

• 28:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:15Theo Von?

  As we've already.

• 28:16Speaker 01

  They're not going to try.

• 28:17Theo Von?

It's not gonna be. They're not going to be tried.

• 28:19Speaker 01

You're going to have to be digging into their fingers more like, cause you're like, dude, you're not even trying. Like you go, here, give me your hand and then you have to do it. And then you're like, yeah.

• 28:29Theo Von?

Yeah. You're going to be leaning more towards.

• 28:32Speaker 01

  Towards it.

• 28:32Theo Von?

Dude, that's like, oh, bro. That's so funny, bro. You're so funny, dude. That's like, dude, that's like, there's people sometimes at work were like, I'm the city, like a city of, I'm like a liaison to the city. And they segue around the town sometimes. But dude, sometimes those people, like one time we were trying to get information and the lady was running from us. She like, couldn't get her thing to stop or whatever. So she would pass by, but you had to ask her really fast because she was going. And then another time the guy's, his got stuck or whatever, like in a right hand pattern or whatever he kept. He, uh, he called it right hand pattern. He's like, it's in a right hand pattern. And he's just sitting there just glitching like in a circle.

• 29:09Speaker 01

  Like just going in circles.

• 29:10Theo Von?

Yes. And we're trying to like, you know, we're just trying to ask.

• 29:12Speaker 01

  Where's the monument?

• 29:13Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah, dude. It's just like, dude, we're talking about Paul Revere and he just kept dodging us.

• 29:19Speaker 01

Yeah. Where's Daniel Boone's house? And it's just, and he's.

• 29:24Theo Von?

Yeah, dude. We're like, look, dude, we, we heard Harriet Tubman ate ice cream around here. Can you just?

• 29:30Speaker 01

  Tell me.

• 29:31Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 29:32Speaker 01

  Heard Davy Crockett.

• 29:34Theo Von?

Yeah. We heard Davy Crockett and Betty Crocker actually hooked up around any one time.

• 29:39Speaker 01

They were around the same time.

• 29:40Theo Von?

  Were they?

• 29:41Speaker 01

  I don't know.

• 29:41Theo Von?

They had to have met up.

• 29:42Speaker 01

They had to have met up. I, they would at least known about each other.

• 29:46Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 29:47Speaker 01

Yeah. Davy Crockett was talked about a lot growing up.

• 29:50Theo Von?

  He was.

• 29:51Speaker 01

Way more than it is now. It was a big deal when I grew up.

• 29:55Theo Von?

Yeah. Now it's like Travis Scott or whatever.

• 29:57Speaker 01

Yeah, it is. And Davy Crockett is a good name. I thought Davy Crockett ouch. Here's what I would feel, and I'm going off nothing. But Davy Crockett was, when I was growing up, was the guy. And I think Daniel Boone came in and started a little overshadowing Davy.

• 30:17Theo Von?

Hmm. I remember Davy Crockett because he had the paraphernalia, he had the hat. And I think, I don't know if he had a pistol or if he had a.

• 30:25Speaker 01

Uh, yeah, I feel like he had a gun, like a, one of those old school guns.

• 30:30Theo Von?

Like a six shooter or something?

• 30:31Speaker 01

Yeah, no, no, like a rifle, but like.

• 30:34Theo Von?

Yes, that's it. Bring him up. Let's get a gander at him because yeah, who even knows? Davy Crockett and Betty Crocker are unrelated, except for the shared last name, which isn't even the same last name.

• 30:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:43Theo Von?

You want to take us through Davy Crockett there, Nate?

• 30:45Speaker 01

Yeah, Davy Crockett was a real 19th century American frontiersman and politician. Well, Betty Crocker was created in 1921 and is not a real person.

• 30:55Theo Von?

  Hmm.

• 30:56Speaker 01

So that's tough. But they were around.

• 30:59Theo Von?

So she was a catfish, basically, which she probably.

• 31:02Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, that's maybe the original catfish.

• 31:05Theo Von?

  Betty Crocker.

• 31:05Speaker 01

Yeah. Um, he kept going, what's up with this Betty? Where's this Betty Crocker? And I go, she just left.

• 31:11Theo Von?

  Yeah, dude.

• 31:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 31:12Theo Von?

Oh, she was just here. Um, can you give me information just about Davy Crockett, please?

• 31:18Speaker 01

Did him and Daniel Boone know each other?

• 31:20Theo Von?

Crockett grew up in East Tennessee, where he gained a reputation for hunting and storytelling. So he was, he was kind of like a comedian, I guess. He was made a Colonel in the militia of Lawrence County.

• 31:30Speaker 01

He, he, uh, posed many of the policies of President Andrew Jackson, where I'm from Old Hickory, which is named after Andrew Jackson.

• 31:36Theo Von?

  Hmm.

• 31:38Speaker 01

  So.

• 31:39Theo Von?

He was elected, uh, to Congress. I didn't even know he was a congressman. In 1836, he took part in the Texas Revolution and died at the Battle of the Alamo. That's why he was popular too, because the Alamo.

• 31:48Speaker 01

  Yeah, yes, the Alamo, yeah.

• 31:50Theo Von?

Uh, Crockett became famous during his lifetime for larger-than-life exploits popularized by stage plays and almanacs. After his death, he continued to be credited with acts of mythical proportion.

• 32:04Theo Von?

And then what about, uh, let's go Daniel Boone. Wouldn't he slide in there and steal his shine? Daniel Boone, born in seventeen thirty-four, while Davy Crockett was born in seventeen eighty-six, fifty-two years apart. So Boone was already an aging frontier legend.

• 32:19Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 32:20Theo Von?

So probably our grandparents, our great-grandparents probably heard more about Boone.

• 32:24Speaker 01

They did. And then we heard about Crockett.

• 32:27Theo Von?

  Yep.

• 32:27Speaker 01

And then maybe the truth has come out that it's like, look, we need to go pretty heavy on Boone. Cause he was the originator.

• 32:34Theo Von?

Yeah. Once that big, big business starts pushing Boone.

• 32:39Speaker 01

I like when they're like, it's like he was born around November 2nd. Like you're, they go, we weren't keeping stuff back then, dude. They go, in the general area.

• 32:49Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 32:50Speaker 01

Yeah. And then if he was like, I was born in January. And you're like, well, yeah, it's around.

• 32:55Theo Von?

  It counts. Yeah.

• 32:56Speaker 01

  It counts.

• 32:57Theo Von?

Yeah, dude. He showed up in the springtime. Um, he grew up in a Quaker farming family. He became famous for his wood crafts, hunting and long-range exploration deep into what was in the western frontier of British America. Huh. Pretty cool, man.

• 33:11Speaker 01

Everybody was kind of an explorer.

• 33:13Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 33:14Speaker 01

You know? Cause it was, I mean, I know that, like I'm saying, those guys did great. But I bet there was a lot of guys that were like, yeah, nothing was built. Every step I took was a brand-new step.

• 33:27Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. You were just, yeah, you were just like a Magellan. Anybody, dude, if you got a pair of running shoes, you were a Magellan.

• 33:34Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 33:35Theo Von?

You were Christopher Columbus. Imagine when those-

• 33:36Speaker 01

If you had hockas back then, I mean, come on. Dude, you would be above Daniel Boone.

• 33:43Theo Von?

You were sponsored by the Spanish at that point. You know what I'm saying?

• 33:46Speaker 01

He came up that way. Dude, that's the way you came up and they were like, we didn't see that coming.

• 33:50Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 33:51Speaker 01

  This guy came through. Yeah.

• 33:53Theo Von?

Dude, it is kinda crazy. And because there was also a time where there were more woods, right? Anytime there was woods, you were an explorer. Anytime-

• 34:00Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 34:01Theo Von?

That has a lot to do with exploration because there was more woods that like less timber had been cut down. So I think you had that and then yeah, just not knowing where everything was being an explorer. God, you think you you you think you could have been an explorer?

• 34:14Speaker 01

I mean, I don't think you have a choice. I think you're just it. But it's, yeah, I think I could. I like exploring. I would like to go find some, you know, trying to really see like what's the path, the best way to go. That's what's hard is there's not much left exploring. You know, you see like those untouched tribes they talked about and then you're like, I don't even know if those some of that's real or not.

• 34:32Theo Von?

Fake. A lot of that's fake.

• 34:33Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. And so there's, I know in Alaska, because they talk about Bigfoot and like in Alaska, there's like so much land and stuff like in with woods. And you go up to Washington, it's like got the most trees.

• 34:50Theo Von?

  Yeah, people don't even, yeah.

• 34:51Speaker 01

  It's you can't, there's so much.

• 34:54Theo Von?

But I can go seek for two years.

• 34:55Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, you couldn't. I mean, there's, if Bigfoot's real, it's like it would be easy for Bigfoot to hide.

• 35:03Theo Von?

  Up there.

• 35:04Speaker 01

  Up there.

• 35:04Theo Von?

That's a good point. Whereas, yeah, like in other places like Modesto, it'd be tougher or,

• 35:11Theo Von?

you know, up in like North Atlanta or something like that, those are.

• 35:14Speaker 01

Would be, yeah, Bigfoot's gonna get seen.

• 35:17Theo Von?

Oh dude, in Atlanta, Bigfoot's gonna be at the club probably.

• 35:21Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 35:22Theo Von?

At the club for sure, dude.

• 35:24Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 35:25Theo Von?

People would have him feature on their albums in Atlanta.

• 35:27Speaker 01

Yeah. Oh, yeah, just, yeah. Come up and talk.

• 35:31Theo Von?

Yeah, you don't think Ludacris is gonna have Bigfoot pull up?

• 35:34Speaker 01

Yeah. Why would you not? You have access to him. Yeah. You probably don't gotta pay him. He probably food. I don't even know.

• 35:43Theo Von?

For sure, clean salmon? I'm thinking also, yeah.

• 35:47Speaker 01

Clean salmon. You just give him that and then he drops a.

• 35:52Theo Von?

But they're gonna push that narrative on him that he's like a person of color too.

• 35:56Speaker 01

  Yeah, that would be.

• 35:57Theo Von?

Like he has to show up and he has to do ball like he has to like, uh,

• 36:01Speaker 01

  He has to go to.

• 36:02Theo Von?

  Collab on a track.

• 36:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 36:03Theo Von?

  Or show up.

• 36:04Speaker 01

He has to go to stuff. He, yeah, he's like, I mean, you know.

• 36:07Theo Von?

  We need you, bro.

• 36:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 36:08Theo Von?

We need you at Diamonds or whatever that place is, Nipple Diamonds or whatever that, whatever that exotic club there is, I think.

• 36:13Speaker 01

Oh, yeah. One of them got everybody got in trouble at.

• 36:17Theo Von?

All of them did, yeah. A lot of them, yeah. Well, they found glyphosate there on some of the women.

• 36:21Speaker 01

I'm always crazy how open they are about talking about that, the NBA. They, there's, they talk about going to those clubs and there's no, like, you know, we feel like there's someone that's like, hey, let's not, let's keep it a little quiet.

• 36:39Theo Von?

Right, like a lot, everything else are like, hey, don't talk about that. Don't talk about politics. Don't talk about how you feel about this. Don't be like Kyrie Irving with his, you know, don't express yourself. But if it comes to clubbery, like strip club.

• 36:53Speaker 01

  Yep. Go all out.

• 36:55Theo Von?

Or throwing tens of thousands of dollars on the back of somebody.

• 36:58Speaker 01

Yeah. Then please, then say it, say it all.

• 37:01Theo Von?

  Then yeah, then share it.

• 37:03Speaker 01

Magic City, that's the one they just got in trouble about.

• 37:06Theo Von?

  Oh, did it?

• 37:07Speaker 01

Yeah, because the Hawks used Magic City Night, which is the, where they would go.

• 37:14Theo Von?

And this is similar, I guess, Magic City Night, is that similar to the Nate Raid at all or no? This is two different things.

• 37:18Speaker 01

It's, it's along the lines. It's, it's what we were going for originally.

• 37:25Theo Von?

No, but I love that you're doing this, dude. I love that you were able to make that happen. How did you make that happen with the, uh, with the theaters? And then also secondarily, do you know how many theaters you guys are opening up in?

• 37:37Speaker 01

Uh, three thou, I think three thousand.

• 37:40Theo Von?

  Oh, wow, really?

• 37:41Speaker 01

Yeah, I think so. I'm not positive. I think it's like that. I think it's three thousand. But it's, you, you know, it's, dude, it's like meeting, uh, you know, we've met like, uh, you know, AMC, that, that head of Regal, Cinemark, Cineplex, like, you just kind of go to them and like, they're all, they're in the same business. I always say this, I'm in the ticket selling business. You're in the ticket selling business. We sell tickets. So it's, it's, you kind of take stuff out of, like, you know.

• 38:12Speaker 01

The hands of Hollywood in a sense, once you're in this ticket selling business. Like that's all, that's my relationship with the audience. Is I, you buy a ticket and you come see me. And so when you can kind of do that, I think you can go to these theaters to go, we're all on the same page. They want people coming to theaters. We want, I want them to come see the movie I made. And so then you're, I think you can just, there's ways around it. And now we're in such a new world where you're, you know, you start meeting people and like, everybody just wants their businesses to grow. And I think everybody took it for granted for such a long time. Cause it was, that's just what it was. You know, like growing up, like growing up was, you know, growing up, you just went to the movie theaters.

• 38:55Speaker 01

You couldn't do, there was no streaming, there was a, you know, then once all the streaming stuff started happening, it's like, then they kind of went hard into that. And then I think left theaters and now you're getting back to where these younger generations that are growing up with phones. And they're seeing their parents on the phone all the time. And they just want to go somewhere and they want to go do stuff. And so then it's like, I, there's a chance, I think it will flip back to, you know, I mean, you know, when you feel, like, I think every time I drop my phone, I think I hope it breaks.

• 39:28Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 39:28Speaker 01

I always just, someone's like, oh, I'm like, it'd be wonderful if it broke.

• 39:32Theo Von?

Mm hmm. I hope someone steals it. I'll even go to a city that has a lot of crime and drop my phone there a couple 10, 12 times. Like, oh. And I'll even make that sound like.

• 39:41Speaker 01

  And be let down.

• 39:42Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 39:42Speaker 01

And be like, oh. That it's, you go, I thought this city had crime and I was wrong.

• 39:49Theo Von?

I'll even do that when I drop it.

• 39:51Speaker 01

  Point at it, yeah.

• 39:52Theo Von?

  But yeah, dude.

• 39:53Speaker 01

Leave it way out of your pocket, back pocket.

• 39:56Theo Von?

Oh, when my phone goes off, dude, sometimes I used to wet the bed and I would be like an adult, which was the saddest part of it. But after that, uh, there was times where I was like supposed to like get up in the morning or whatever. And then I would urinate all over my phone and it would short out. And it would be like the best morning.

• 40:14Speaker 01

But yeah. Especially after something so sad happening as an adult.

• 40:20Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. You get past that.

• 40:22Speaker 01

But then no, then your phone doesn't work and you're like, man, what a day.

• 40:26Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 40:27Speaker 01

I leave my phones like on the road. I, I, but I'll have like an, you know, you have an Apple Watch.

• 40:32Theo Von?

  You have an Apple Watch?

• 40:34Speaker 01

Like you have an Apple Watch, you can have Apple Watch with cellular.

• 40:37Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 40:37Speaker 01

So you can leave your phone and then like, you know, it's like one of those like, all right, if someone needed to call me, it's like, you get the AirPods in or you can be like, hey, I gotta call you back or text message or whatever. That's the big thing you do with kids at first. Sometimes you give them an Apple Watch before a phone. Cause they can't do too much with an Apple Watch, but you could, you could get a hold of them.

• 40:57Theo Von?

My kid, yeah. My kid will be lucky to get an Apple and, uh, and watch what happens if you don't behave. That's, that's how I'm starting.

• 41:06Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 41:06Theo Von?

  That's a start.

• 41:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 41:07Theo Von?

Is a good diet and then like light threat.

• 41:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 41:11Theo Von?

And then we'll go from there to see what else they get if they are well behaved.

• 41:14Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 41:15Theo Von?

But, um, Oliver Anthony just did something. Can you bring that up? What he was trying to do with ticketing? And congrats, man, on your, on your movie. Yeah, ours just, we, we only got 500 theaters. I wish we'd have gone bigger and I wish we'd have gone to more rural theaters. I think we tried to do like too much just city stuff.

• 41:32Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 41:34Theo Von?

  But anyway.

• 41:35Speaker 01

But I mean, like movies are, go back and forth too, like streaming is, I, I, I kind of think of streaming sometimes as like, it's like Block, Blockbuster in a sense. It's like where your stuff can go live and people can go watch that forever. I mean, Burt's movie, uh, you know, it's like he went to theaters and then he went crazy and did, uh, it destroyed it on Netflix.

• 41:57Theo Von?

Well, I think, and, and also man, sorry to, I, I, I kind of made that about me there in our movie for a second. I want to apologize about that.

• 42:03Speaker 01

No, I'll, I'll talk about your movie.

• 42:05Theo Von?

No, congratulations. So it's going to be open in May 29th. That's this Friday.

• 42:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 42:09Theo Von?

And it's in theaters. It's going to be in 3,000 theaters, which means almost everywhere.

• 42:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 42:13Theo Von?

That's a lot of places. Yeah, that's wonderful, dude. It's exciting. Um.

• 42:16Speaker 01

Also just, there's a chance it's four theaters. If some reason it's not 3,000, I have no idea. I think it's 3,000, but it would be funny.

• 42:24Theo Von?

  Is it 4,000, you mean?

• 42:25Speaker 01

No, no, I think 4,000 is the max. I think we're at three. I'm just saying. There you, we go back and you know, it's in a hundred theaters and they go, it could be that too.

• 42:35Theo Von?

Got it. What was Oliver saying? Yeah, I just saw this the other day. Can you just play a little bit of it?

• 42:39Speaker 04

I could really use your suggestions and your advice. I am looking for venues to play. You know, I've started booking my own shows again. So in April, we did those Virginias, where I just rented the room outright and I sold my own tickets through this West Virginia ticket company and it was sweet. It was like, it bypassed the whole system. And it actually worked and it went over pretty well. And so I just announced again for the June 1st through the 3rd, I'm doing Charlotte, Greenville and Raleigh, the exact same way. But I'm just going on Google and trying to find venues. And so I have no idea what's good and bad. But if you have places that you like going to see music that can hold at least-

• 43:16Theo Von?

Okay, got it. So he was trying, I guess, some ticketing, I guess, ticketing maybe through the exact venues. I think, cause that's a big thing for people. And Oliver's always been like a pioneer of like trying to figure out, you know, how do you get, take away from, you know, some of these big groups like Ticketmaster and Live Nation? It's just that have these conglomerates, you know, it's a lot. I mean, those Ticketmaster fees are crazy.

• 43:37Speaker 01

They're crazy. Here's the, like, you know-

• 43:40Theo Von?

  They're crazy.

• 43:41Speaker 01

No, no, they're insane. I, I, I agree. But here's the thing with, like, how much work that was for him to do four or five shows.

• 43:51Theo Von?

  Right.

• 43:51Speaker 01

That's a lot of work. So it's like, you gotta get, for him to, if he wants to go, if you wanna go do it this way, you're gonna need to build a system.

• 44:00Theo Von?

  Right.

• 44:00Speaker 01

And so you're gonna have to have people that are gonna be able to help you to go do that. You can go do that, but you have to build a system.

• 44:06Theo Von?

  Right.

• 44:06Speaker 01

Or otherwise, you're not gonna be able to, uh, tour like the way you want to. If, if everybody wants to go see him, he's wonderful and all this and it's, it's, it's, you know, it's a lot, it's a lot of work. Lou, remember Louie, Louie might still do it. He did it, he did it-

• 44:22Theo Von?

Louie did it for a while, I think.

• 44:23Speaker 01

He did it a long time ago. You buy tickets through his website and stuff like that. There's many ways that you can go try to do it. And I, look, a hard part of this too, is that some people are like, I'll just, just let me go to Ticketmaster, dude. I don't, you know, they, it's our StubHub or whatever they're gonna go do. And you're fighting that too. So it's not like, we all want to, I look, I always thought of it like this-

• 44:49Theo Von?

You're right, I never- Thought about that part of it.

• 44:50Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:50Theo Von?

Some people are okay with it.

• 44:52Speaker 01

Dude, I don't, what do you want, like, if I really look at it all, even though it's like the, I believe in the thing that you're doing, it's, uh, it's just so much work and you gotta get the word out and people have to find you and see you and all this. I don't know what he, where he wants to be career wise. Like, if like, you know, does he want to be the most biggest star in the world? I don't feel like he, I feel like he loves where he's at. And like.

• 45:20Theo Von?

I think he just loves having that relationship with the people.

• 45:22Speaker 01

With the audience, with the people, which is, which is, uh, amazing. Uh, and so it's like, you, you should do that. But then there's a mix, you're, the thing, you know, it's, you remember doing like comedy clubs when you, you'd go try to do a rock, like for me, I would go try to do a rock venue, uh, instead of a comedy club. And then you go to the odd, the people that would come out to me, they don't know where this rock venue is at. So they've never heard of this rock venue. They just know where the comedy club is.

• 45:44Theo Von?

Right. Now you're doing it like.

• 45:45Speaker 01

  And then now you're, yeah.

• 45:47Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 45:47Speaker 01

  A hundred people show up.

• 45:48Theo Von?

  Yeah. Under a bench somewhere.

• 45:50Speaker 01

  Yeah. Okay. Yeah.

• 45:53Theo Von?

Oh, you just got word. It's thirty-three hundred.

• 45:54Speaker 01

  Thirty-three hundred.

• 45:55Theo Von?

Theaters there. Um, yeah, I think so. But yeah.

• 45:58Speaker 01

They charge all this stuff. Ticketmaster does all this stuff. They, uh, it's, it's one of those.

• 46:04Theo Von?

  It's a mafia.

• 46:06Speaker 01

Yeah, but you're, you know, but the audience, you know, yes, it's frustrating. We're all frustrated by it. But then it's also like, people are busy. You gotta, how many people can you get that are gonna go follow you everywhere?

• 46:21Theo Von?

I agree. When you, when you make it like, yeah.

• 46:24Speaker 01

You know, and sometimes when you give stuff, you ever notice, like I waited tables. And so I used to always think, uh, Applebee's, right over here, Thompson.

• 46:33Theo Von?

  Really?

• 46:33Speaker 01

Yeah. It's for me and my wife event.

• 46:35Theo Von?

I pray for all those people over there. You met your wife at Applebee's?

• 46:38Speaker 01

  Applebee's Thompson Lane. Uh, so.

• 46:41Theo Von?

  Oh, my God.

• 46:42Speaker 01

I don't know where Thompson Lane is, but you know.

• 46:43Theo Von?

Do you remember what day or what, what day it was? Or was it a holiday?

• 46:46Speaker 01

The day Daniel Boone was born, around about, around about November 2nd. Yeah.

• 46:52Theo Von?

  In the spring.

• 46:52Speaker 01

  In the spring.

• 46:55Speaker 01

  Uh, yeah, yeah, so.

• 46:58Theo Von?

And you met her there and how'd you meet her? Was she working there?

• 47:00Speaker 01

She was a waitress and I was the host.

• 47:03Theo Von?

  You were a male host?

• 47:04Speaker 01

  A male host.

• 47:05Theo Von?

And you've been a host anyway? You've been a host your whole life?

• 47:07Speaker 01

Yeah, I've been a host my whole life. And so, but I was, yeah, male host.

• 47:11Theo Von?

  Heck, yeah.

• 47:11Speaker 01

  You know?

• 47:12Theo Von?

  Shout out to all the.

• 47:13Speaker 01

I was easy, I was easy, you know, when you came in, you know, you just, I was an easy, like, hey, you know? Wasn't aggressive.

• 47:24Theo Von?

  No.

• 47:24Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 47:25Theo Von?

  Yeah, like, hey.

• 47:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 47:26Theo Von?

Hey. What do you want to do?

• 47:27Speaker 01

Where you want to go? You could talk me into where you want to sit.

• 47:31Theo Von?

  Easily, huh?

• 47:32Speaker 01

  Easily, easily.

• 47:34Theo Von?

Can we sit over by the window?

• 47:35Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. That section's wide open. Can I go over there?

• 47:40Theo Von?

  Of course.

• 47:41Speaker 01

  We can walk over there.

• 47:43Theo Von?

Yeah, dude, sometimes you go in this, one of the sections that was closed off and they had all the baby seats parked over there.

• 47:48Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 47:49Theo Von?

That always made me nervous. I thought something had happened to all the babies.

• 47:52Speaker 01

Yeah, that's where they get, they're like, what's wrong with this restaurant? There you go. We've had some baby problems here.

• 47:58Theo Von?

  Yeah, that's what I thought.

• 48:00Speaker 01

Yeah, and that's where they, and were they upside down?

• 48:03Theo Von?

  Some, yeah, sometimes.

• 48:05Speaker 01

  Sometimes they were.

• 48:06Theo Von?

Oh, man. When I see that, I still think of that. And sometimes they'd be stacked on each other or something, you know?

• 48:14Speaker 01

Yeah, the old wood baby seats, they didn't have that anymore?

• 48:18Theo Von?

Dude, sometimes they would have a baby's head chiseled his name in the wood.

• 48:21Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 48:22Theo Von?

  You know?

• 48:23Speaker 01

  That came a lot.

• 48:24Theo Von?

Yeah, like Ricky Junior or something was written in there. You're like, dang.

• 48:27Speaker 01

How much you come here? Like, when they see his family walk in, they already got it out?

• 48:32Theo Von?

Yeah, sometimes it'd be like an unhappy baby would say, like, Brooks was here, just chiseled in there.

• 48:36Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 48:36Theo Von?

  Like, oh. It's a lot.

• 48:39Speaker 01

Waiting tables, this is back to my theory, is, uh, you know, you, you would always think, like, to get a bigger tip, I would like try to hook. You'd be like, I didn't charge you for the coke. I didn't, you know, no charge for, and you thought, I thought like me hooking you up would mean a higher tip.

• 48:57Theo Von?

  Right.

• 48:57Speaker 01

And it never did. But if I charged you full price for everything, you would tip me more.

• 49:03Theo Von?

  Got it.

• 49:04Speaker 01

So it's like, that's kind of how stuff works. Where you in a weird, we all, cause in my head, you're like, yo dude, I'm like, you know, I've, I've taken off, I've done what I can of like, I can just get you a coke and put water down.

• 49:19Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 49:19Speaker 01

You know, that's three, four dollars I just saved you and then I'll get you, what, you know, I don't know, like some random, you're doing these little things that, and you think they're gonna be like.

• 49:30Theo Von?

I'll get you one extra little.

• 49:31Speaker 01

But they tip off the price.

• 49:32Theo Von?

They tip off the price. And they don't think, and sometimes people's the math in their head like, well, I don't even know how much stuff that was worth and what do I do here?

• 49:39Speaker 01

Yeah, cause you, they just want to eat and like, just charge me.

• 49:43Theo Von?

They want a breadstick and they want to meet a woman.

• 49:45Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 49:46Theo Von?

  You know?

• 49:46Speaker 01

Yeah, like Olive Garden where they gave you free bread, you know, it's like, do you tip extra? No, like, I don't think you tip, you don't, you don't wrap that in. That's a big thing. They give you a free, don't they give you free breadsticks and maybe salad or something?

• 49:59Theo Von?

I think there's soup even sometimes.

• 50:00Speaker 01

Maybe unlimited pasta, something like, it's like aggressive.

• 50:03Theo Von?

If you just run in there, they'll give you a half a handful of soup.

• 50:05Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, for nothing.

• 50:07Theo Von?

Yeah, for nothing dude. Dude, the assistant manager will let you fricking eat it right out of her hand if she's nice, if she's feeling good that day.

• 50:14Speaker 01

Yeah, you get a complimentary breadsticks.

• 50:17Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 50:17Speaker 01

But I wonder if they make you feel guilty asking for them.

• 50:20Theo Von?

Yeah, like, ah, well, let me see, let me see if we have them.

• 50:23Speaker 01

Did you ever go to O'Charley's back in the day? When they, do you know?

• 50:26Theo Von?

Throw the peanut shells on the floor?

• 50:28Speaker 01

No, no, O'Charley's was a different restaurant, but they had these great rolls. And I mean, the rolls were, O'Charley's has great, they have rolls now, they did something to them.

• 50:36Theo Von?

  They're bad.

• 50:37Speaker 01

They're not as good as they were.

• 50:38Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 50:38Speaker 01

I think they had sugar in them before. And so it was almost like a Krispy Kreme doughnut. But it was unbelievable and they'd give free rolls. And you would set them down on the table and then everybody would be like, go ahead and bring another round. And you, and they'd even have five of them. Yeah, dude, it was, they were the best rolls in the world. And, and everybody would go in and you're just, you're really there for the rolls. And, you know, and then you would feel embarrassed to be like, you know, they bring you a basket of five and you're like, before you turn around, these are gone. So go ahead and send another one out. And I think they had a pace, they had a pacing problem. They had to be like, yeah, we can't drag it out.

• 51:17Theo Von?

Yeah, people were coming and looking in the kitchen and stuff.

• 51:19Speaker 01

Yeah. Yeah, cuz they, I mean, they were the best.

• 51:23Theo Von?

People were texting the plug or whatever. Here's a solid copycat for Charlie's Original Rolls. Uh, warm whole milk, a six, a cup of sugar, uh, dry yeast, a beaten egg, butter, purpose flour, salt. Thank you.

• 51:36Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah. Nice.

• 51:38Theo Von?

Huh. Yeah, maybe a little bit of sugar in it. Oh, dude.

• 51:40Speaker 01

Maybe they didn't have sugar. Maybe, I mean, I don't know. It might have been all that stuff.

• 51:43Theo Von?

It could have been the yeast. I don't know. Some yeast has a lot of, it can be good.

• 51:46Speaker 01

If you do this recipe, throw a little sugar in it, dude.

• 51:48Theo Von?

Yeah. And if you're making anything for your family tonight.

• 51:51Speaker 01

  Throw a little sugar.

• 51:52Theo Von?

  Oh, throw a little sugar.

• 51:52Speaker 01

I do. Ain't gonna, they do.

• 51:54Theo Von?

  Dude, pasta sauce.

• 51:55Speaker 01

No, that's a six cup of sugar. That's it. Oh, yeah, yeah. Sorry. I didn't hear that.

• 51:59Theo Von?

  No, no worries, man.

• 52:00Speaker 01

Yeah. See, you see what I mean, dude? I think they got rid of that sugar and then they got into.

• 52:05Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 52:06Speaker 01

  Probably yeast heavy.

• 52:07Theo Von?

  They might've went yeast heavy.

• 52:08Speaker 01

  They might've went wet yeast.

• 52:09Theo Von?

Oh, that's the worst when it's real yeast you just put in your mouth and it like just grows in your mouth or whatever.

• 52:14Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 52:15Theo Von?

• 53:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 53:39Theo Von?

Who's a friend of mine, great guy.

• 53:40Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, great guy.

• 53:41Theo Von?

  I mean, let's just say he's great.

• 53:42Speaker 01

  He's great.

• 53:43Theo Von?

He's great. Um, did you also direct it?

• 53:46Speaker 01

  No, no, Eric Appel.

• 53:47Theo Von?

  Okay, Eric who?

• 53:48Speaker 01

  Eric Appel.

• 53:49Theo Von?

  Eric Appel.

• 53:50Speaker 01

He did, uh, the, um, Weird Al Yankovic movie. And so, it's a...

• 53:56Theo Von?

  I haven't seen that.

• 53:57Speaker 01

Yeah, it's a great movie. And then, so he did that, and then we had Jeremy Latsham was a producer and, uh, Sony, TriStar. It was a full-on, like, big, you know, we did it in Atlanta, Trilith, which is right outside of, uh...

• 54:11Theo Von?

  Trilla?

• 54:12Speaker 01

  Trilith.

• 54:13Theo Von?

  Trilith.

• 54:13Speaker 01

So, the owner of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy, he owned, that's where they used to shoot all the Marvel movies. And so, they have all these studios, and then across, uh, neighborhood is housing. So, like, a lot of people that shoot there, you can go rent houses, and it's like a Truman Show-type place where you just walk around.

• 54:31Theo Von?

Would you see other actors and stuff during the day when you're...

• 54:33Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 54:34Theo Von?

Like, they were working on different projects?

• 54:35Speaker 01

  Yeah, uh...

• 54:36Theo Von?

Like, whom did you see, do you mind?

• 54:37Speaker 01

  Uh, Urkel.

• 54:39Theo Von?

  You saw Jaleel White?

• 54:40Speaker 01

  Jaleel White.

• 54:41Theo Von?

  No way.

• 54:41Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. And so, he was, he was shooting a game show. You would see a lot of, uh...

• 54:46Theo Von?

And what was he doing, hooping or playing dice or whatever? What was he doing when you saw him?

• 54:49Speaker 01

No, he was at, he was just at a restaurant.

• 54:52Theo Von?

  There's a restaurant there?

• 54:53Speaker 01

  Oh, there's a bunch of restaurants there. I mean, it's a, it's a town.

• 54:56Theo Von?

Do they have real names, or is it like, kind of like an Epcot Center-type?

• 54:59Speaker 01

No, no, it's, it's like, uh, I mean, some people have houses there, then you rent them out to people that come in, because when you were, you know, when they're shooting these Marvel stuff, I mean, you'd have to have, like, you know, Chris Pratt or Robert Downey, you know, I mean, you can go live not in that town too, but you can, but like, it, it's right across from the studio, so you can just run over there, but they have, like, ice cream shop.

• 55:21Theo Von?

Yeah, I just can't imagine, you're like, you go out in the morning or whatever, and you frickin', you know, Robert Downey Jr., Al Pacino's like checking his mail or whatever, you know?

• 55:31Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 55:31Theo Von?

  And you're just like, "Hooah!"

• 55:32Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 55:33Theo Von?

That would be the weird part for me, dude.

• 55:36Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 55:36Theo Von?

Trilith Town for Marvel Studios in Georgia could be the future of cities.

• 55:42Theo Von?

And you, does it come with a pet or anything? Like, what's the whole?

• 55:45Speaker 01

I think, you know, you can get whatever you want there. But it's, yeah, there's, so they did all, they did a bunch of Marvel movies. I, I bet this is an old article, cause it's, uh, it's not, I think stuff's coming back, but now Marvel's all in London.

• 55:59Theo Von?

  Okay, got it.

• 56:00Speaker 01

  But it was, uh,

• 56:01Theo Von?

Yeah, this is an old 2022.

• 56:03Speaker 01

But it was, yeah, it's like, so they built those towns for like, a lot of the workers, like, the idea of the, the union guys to be able to go live there and like, be able to come, sit there and work and,

• 56:13Theo Von?

  That's wild.

• 56:15Speaker 01

But they did, yeah, everything, they did everything there.

• 56:18Theo Von?

You're too tired when you get home to think about grocery shopping, but that's okay. The delivery robot has just rolled up in front of your house with your weekly order. And this is the Trilith Town. The four-year-old residential portion of Trilith was modeled after the building styles and village feel of European cities.

• 56:36Theo Von?

It's a new town for about 5,000 people created using the principles of new urbanism. A concept that means neighborhoods should be walkable and compact with very built, with very building types and less emphasis on cars. Oh, that's pretty cool.

• 56:47Speaker 01

And each, and they would have different streets would be like, uh, I think it says European and British style designs. While other spots are more modern facade, or I was gonna say facades, what is it?

• 57:01Theo Von?

  Facades.

• 57:01Speaker 01

Oh, I know, façades. Facades, façades. And they, so you, you could go shoot actually on that street. So if you had like, uh, shoot a, where you, a British style movie.

• 57:13Theo Von?

Oh, you could shoot it on your neighborhood.

• 57:14Speaker 01

You could do it in the neighborhood and be like, well, these houses look like they're British. And these look more modern and stuff like that.

• 57:21Theo Von?

  Wow.

• 57:21Speaker 01

And you could buy, you could rent it out, uh.

• 57:25Theo Von?

And this is on Perplexity, uh, AI. Thank you, Perplexity. According to the article, the town's amenities are geared toward a walkable, self-contained lifestyle. Retail, restaurants, a boutique hotel, co-working space, performing arts center, wellness center, and an innovative micro school. It also has lots of green space, communal parks, and geothermal smart home design features. Wow.

• 57:53Speaker 01

Yeah, it's, it's a great idea in the fact that if you were trying to, which they did, so you're trying, you're creating this studio and you want, the thing is, is like, it was, uh, You know, the taxes is like now everything went to London, like they're all in London now. Cause those, they're making those movies and they're so expensive. So it's like they, they, they shoot a lot of stuff over there now. They want to shoot everything there. There, there was that, uh, Rob Lowe talked about that thing where it's like for his game show, it was easier to shoot in Ireland. And fly the American audience to out to Ireland than it was to cheaper than film in LA.

• 58:31Theo Von?

  That's crazy, man.

• 58:32Speaker 01

Which I think it's now that LA is like doing something like, but it got to that point where he was like, yeah, will you not? Which this movie was like in Atlanta and I think we would have shot it in Canada or something. But I was fortunate able to be like, well, I'm, I just wouldn't make a movie. I was like, I'm not.

• 58:50Theo Von?

  Or just too far away?

• 58:52Speaker 01

Yeah. Well, it's like, yeah, man, touring and you're able to, the, the, the great thing for any young comedian, if you can, you just keep doing what you're doing, you end up getting to hold a lot more kind of power. Like that, you know what I mean? Cause you're like, I'm touring. I have a thing. I can do this. So when you go do make something, it's not that you don't, you have like full control, blah, blah, whatever. But it's like, you can, you can say no.

• 59:18Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 59:18Speaker 01

  Get the power of no.

• 59:19Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 59:19Speaker 01

So you can be like, it's like, I, we gotta go make this movie in Canada. Cause it's cheaper than it's like, then I'll just, uh, either try to make it on my own or I'll figure it out or find something else or I'm touring. So you're like, whatever.

• 59:31Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 59:31Speaker 01

And then it's like, you know, there comes a balance where you can start. I got a game show. We shoot it here in Nashville. They wouldn't shoot it in Nashville.

• 59:39Theo Von?

Did you try to shoot the film in Nashville?

• 59:42Speaker 01

I tried, but this one went, it was moving so quick that it's like, we could have probably, but then it was, we needed to get it made and they have everything.

• 59:55Theo Von?

More infrastructure there for making stuff.

• 59:57Speaker 01

The thing about Tennessee is we don't have is the, you need the, uh, like an A and B team of workers. So like, if you're shooting movies, you need like the A, A, the union guys, the guys that make, the ones that make the movies. Like you need them working on one, then another team is working on, or the second movie and you're kind of. Able to flip flop. Like a different movie or whatever. No, I mean a different, a whole different movie. You gotta have the multiple production crews. When at that, when that their height of that trilith, I mean, I think they were using tw- twelve to twenty studios. Filming a lot of things.

• 1:00:33Theo Von?

Oh, I see what you're saying. So they would have like, as long as you're.

• 1:00:37Speaker 01

You gotta have a lot of crew in town.

• 1:00:39Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:00:39Speaker 01

We do not have that. We don't have, we have crew here. We don't have enough to handle. Uh, high demand of movies.

• 1:00:47Theo Von?

  Got it.

• 1:00:48Speaker 01

Like, you know, you got, like, they're doing that rescue nine one one in Nashville nine one one or whatever it is. Uh, here. Well, that's the, that's a great crew that's there. But if you have them doing that. You don't have the crew that's just sitting that you could also go shoot Batman here. So you need.

• 1:01:04Theo Von?

Right. We just don't have the infrastructure. We don't have.

• 1:01:07Speaker 01

  I think we can.

• 1:01:08Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:01:08Speaker 01

I think we can get it. I think it takes time and you gotta show.

• 1:01:11Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah. You gotta take.

• 1:01:12Speaker 01

You gotta show that you're really committed in doing it.

• 1:01:15Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:01:15Speaker 01

  Yeah. Uh.

• 1:01:17Theo Von?

Things have to happen. There's used to be tax incentives, all that type of stuff. But Atlanta has a ton of that. Even for the example, that neighborhood, it's like they have a neighborhood built where people can stay across the street.

• 1:01:26Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:01:27Theo Von?

From the studios where they can all be right there.

• 1:01:30Speaker 01

Georgia was a place that jumped on that really, really, really fast. But, you know, then you see it now. A lot of stuff. You know, even left, it still wasn't low enough. So then they still go out.

• 1:01:41Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:01:41Speaker 01

Farther. But I mean, that's where you're in the movie business. That's really reliant on these movies that cost five hundred million dollars to make or whatever. And you're like, well, then you gotta stop making movies.

• 1:01:55Theo Von?

Well, how much did you guys cost to make, you said?

• 1:01:58Speaker 01

I think ours was like thirty eight million.

• 1:02:00Theo Von?

  Are you serious?

• 1:02:01Speaker 01

  Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's a, it's a big studio.

• 1:02:05Theo Von?

Wow, I didn't realize all that, man. Congratul- I mean, that's, that's fascinating. That's wild, dude.

• 1:02:10Speaker 01

Yeah, I think it was something like that.

• 1:02:13Theo Von?

Um, and Mandy Moore is also in it. She plays your wife. You have a couple of children in it.

• 1:02:17Speaker 01

Yep. Yeah, the kids are great. Uh, uh, Charlotte, Birdie and Stella. Is the oldest. That's Birdie. Uh, and then, but the kids are great and it's a, it's a movie that's, it's PG. It's the idea of this is. You know, I want you to go take your whole family out to go to it.

• 1:02:37Theo Von?

  Amen.

• 1:02:38Speaker 01

Take your mom, take your grandma, like, you know, it's, I, I, I, I just love that. I love that when people can go out and they can all go together. I want to go to stuff with my family, like, you know, you want to go, and then, so you go look at a lot of movies now. It's, it's like a lot of horror movies.

• 1:02:58Theo Von?

  It's a good point.

• 1:02:59Speaker 01

It's horror, it's a big, or it's like a Marvel movie or something, or it's, or it's animated. Like, there's no live action movies like this, I think, that are being made that are PG, and it's kind of the direction that I wanted to head in.

• 1:03:12Theo Von?

Well, it's been a lot of your direction. It feels like, why is that? Like, overall, like, I get it a hundred percent, right? Like, I get it, and it's been so successful for you, right? Like, um, I think you're like the top touring comedian last year, maybe, I think. And I, I don't mean to get that wrong, you know? But, um, you know, you attract, like, you know, you can attract all ages, right? Your comedy's kind of for everyone. It's for kids, too, even.

• 1:03:33Speaker 01

I don't write it for kids, but kids can come. The point is, like, your kids don't have to leave the room.

• 1:03:38Theo Von?

  Got it.

• 1:03:38Speaker 01

Like, so if it's on, like, but it's, when, there's tons of kids at my show. Uh, not tons, it's, but there's kids at the show.

• 1:03:46Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:03:47Speaker 01

And you see them, but I watch them, and I can tell, like, they're not, you know, and they don't, like, a kid's not gonna like, they don't get everything.

• 1:03:54Theo Von?

Some of what they don't get.

• 1:03:55Speaker 01

Yeah, they like some of the dumb, silly jokes, but if I'm talking about, like, marriage and stuff like that, they're not gonna be laughing at that, or my, but I know when they get in the car, they're gonna just talk about the whole night.

• 1:04:06Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:04:06Speaker 01

And we, I hear that from parents, like, they're just like, oh, they just kept, but, you know, a kid doesn't know how to, it just kind of sits there and stares, but then afterwards, they just are excited. They haven't been to an adult event, and so this feels very adult, like, you're watching, yeah. Cause it is, you're being, you're making it for, you know, my stuff is not, I'm not trying to make it like, uh, yeah, like, it's just kid-friendly, like, a kid can come in, you're just not cursing. You can get away with a lot more when you don't curse.

• 1:04:34Theo Von?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:04:34Speaker 01

Cursing is just kind of, like, that's just what I've found, but it's just the way I was.

• 1:04:39Theo Von?

You can get away with a lot more?

• 1:04:40Speaker 01

I think you can say a lot of things and talk about a lot of stuff, and, uh, I think if you, if you don't curse, it's...

• 1:04:48Theo Von?

  I need to hear this.

• 1:04:49Speaker 01

It's, uh, it's like, the cursing is what I think...

• 1:04:56Speaker 01

Like it's just, that's what people hear that, either they check out, or they're like, he's dirty, or he's this, or he's that. And so if you're control of it, just be in control of it. Maybe, it's not saying you don't have to curse, but it's where is it and when is it?

• 1:05:12Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:12Speaker 01

Where it's, a lot of, I think, the younger comedians now, it's, you know, they, they start on the internet, then they go to Netflix, like, no one's, like, there's no boundaries. Where, like, we came, we did Live at Gotham, I think the same year, right around, and when you did that on Comedy Central, you had, you couldn't say whatever you wanted to say. That's not a bad thing. That means you have to be creative in a scenario. Not saying don't, you can come on anything else and go say whatever you want to go say.

• 1:05:43Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:05:43Speaker 01

But it's not a bad thing to have,

• 1:05:46Theo Von?

  Oh, I agree.

• 1:05:47Speaker 01

like some TV boundaries around you.

• 1:05:50Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:50Speaker 01

Cause then it makes you come at stuff in different angles.

• 1:05:54Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. I mean, I fa- I almost fantasize sometimes, not fantasize, that's probably the weirdest word, but I'm, I think about that of like, yeah, I would like to get to a place where I don't have to, you know, or not, cause I don't have to curse. It's just where I don't, where I don't want to curse.

• 1:06:09Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:06:09Theo Von?

I think I'd do it, I don't even know why I'd do it. I think it's kinda how I operate in a regular day, too. So in the end, I think it's probably just-

• 1:06:15Speaker 01

I don't think of you as someone that would be dirty.

• 1:06:19Theo Von?

  I'm not vulgar.

• 1:06:20Speaker 01

  No, no, no, no, no.

• 1:06:21Theo Von?

Right? Like, I'm not like sexually explicit, or like, talking about something that I think is gross, but I'll use some profanity, you know?

• 1:06:28Speaker 01

Yeah, but you're not, still not.

• 1:06:29Theo Von?

And some of it's just where I'm from and stuff like that, I think, but as, as an adult, and I don't have a family or anything yet, I don't have anybody looking at me across the room, saying, "Why are you saying that in front of the kids, dude?", you know what I'm saying? Cause I work for myself and I'm a shitty employee.

• 1:06:41Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:06:41Theo Von?

You know, I'm out back smoking and catching myself.

• 1:06:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:06:44Theo Von?

I'll sneak around the corner, smoke, and then run around the corner and be like, "What are you doing out here?", you know? The deep fryer's friggin' acting up, you know, so, but, uh-

• 1:06:52Speaker 01

Now, do, do whatever you wanna go do. But that, by the way, no one think, I don't think anybody thinks of you as a dirty Colin.

• 1:06:58Theo Von?

  Yeah, thanks.

• 1:06:59Speaker 01

Like, I don't think, you know, and curse, do whatever you want.

• 1:07:02Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:02Speaker 01

  Do whatever you want.

• 1:07:03Theo Von?

But it is a challenge. I do, I agree. I, I love the fact that it's a challenge to yourself. Um, is there, is there a day, would you ever like say, well, one day I'm gonna put out, there's gonna be like a dark folder I'm gonna put out of just the other side of things. Have you, or you ever had like, have you ever wanted to have like an OnlyFans where you just say like bad, some bad words on it?

• 1:07:22Speaker 01

Uh, no, I, I just don't think, uh, uh, I think I've just passed the point of where I would, I, you know, look, I like whatever.

• 1:07:32Theo Von?

  Was it always like that?

• 1:07:33Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. I mean, I, we, we grew up, when I grew up, it was like cursing was, you know, my parents were, uh, became Christian when I was born and well, I have a joke about it, they were the most Christian. And so like, you know, growing up here, Southern Baptists, very strict rules, like it's, it's, uh, you know, I think churches, church is completely different now, like a lot of it's non-denomination and all that. But it's, then it was like, yeah, you didn't, uh, no one, no, I mean, cursing was looked at. And no one in my fam, my, my parents did not curse, so I wasn't around.

• 1:08:08Theo Von?

  Yeah, that's awesome, dude.

• 1:08:10Speaker 01

Uh, that, so I have a, not that I'm, I'm not perfect, but my strictness in it, in my act is just was like, I was just never gonna do it.

• 1:08:19Theo Von?

  Got it.

• 1:08:20Speaker 01

And then when I started that way, it's like.

• 1:08:22Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:22Speaker 01

It would be weird to go.

• 1:08:24Theo Von?

And it, does it feel like I'm ostracizing you for not doing it? It doesn't feel like that, does it?

• 1:08:27Speaker 01

No, no, I think some people, I don't feel like you do.

• 1:08:30Theo Von?

Oh, but it doesn't, it doesn't feel like I'm ostracized, like I'm, I'm envious of it.

• 1:08:34Speaker 01

  No, no, no, no, no.

• 1:08:36Theo Von?

And I think it just, it just like, yeah, it makes it so it's, it's ready for everybody, right? Like this is something that you can, uh, and a parent knows at some point, I can turn that on. This is the thing that does get me sometimes, I, I, if a parent's with their kids, like, I don't know if I can turn these podcasts on because it's gonna have profanity in it, or they might be talking about some stuff that's gonna be a bit obtuse for kids.

• 1:08:55Speaker 01

I think about that sometimes with Sirius Radio where it's like, you, you know, you, or you get into some stuff about sports, or you wanna listen to some sports stuff, and then it's like, someone gets, they're cursing and you're like, I'm just trying to like, hear the score of the game. UFC had like, you know, I mean, we're both giant UFC fans and, uh, I, the pay-per-view events, I'm fine with, but like sometimes even if you have to listen to something about UFC, it can get, like they can get cursing and all this stuff and, and like not to, sometimes you're like, I just wouldn't mind. Like if my daughter's in the car, not really paying attention and I would like

• 1:09:34Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:09:34Speaker 01

to just hear some UFC stuff. Can we have a channel where it's like, I just know you're not gonna

• 1:09:41Theo Von?

  That's very fair.

• 1:09:42Speaker 01

  go nuts.

• 1:09:43Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:44Speaker 01

Like, you know what I mean? Like

• 1:09:45Theo Von?

Yeah, cause the only time she's gonna look up too is if she hears a bad word, she'll look up and she's gonna look at you like, Dad, what are you listening to this kind of stuff?

• 1:09:51Speaker 01

And you're like, I know, I'm just trying to listen to, uh, like you just want it to be like local radio.

• 1:09:57Theo Von?

You're like, I'm just a Gagey fan. What do you, you know? Give me a chance here, you know?

• 1:10:02Speaker 01

I'm a Kobe, look, Kobe Covington, it's hard to, it's hard to keep him quiet. He's like, just the way, you couldn't listen to, I mean, I've done that against Kobe, I don't, ZF says all the craziest things.

• 1:10:12Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. Well, a lot of those guys have to be their own advert, when you think about some of those guys, it's interesting because they just wanted to fight, but then they have to, some of them have to probably feel a pressure to become this other thing because you have to be their own PR company in a way.

• 1:10:24Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. And look, I don't feel bad, it's not the fighters, it's like just you wish.

• 1:10:28Theo Von?

The commentators, yeah, they're talking about, you're right.

• 1:10:30Speaker 01

I mean, they do a good job though on UFC, like I, I don't, like when Rogan and all them, like, they don't curse.

• 1:10:36Theo Von?

Oh, they're pretty clean on there.

• 1:10:38Speaker 01

Yeah, I don't think they curse at all now when they go interview them, but that's another thing, that's the fighter, they're in the moment, it's gonna be hard not to

• 1:10:45Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:10:46Speaker 01

let loose and some of that's part of what it is and, but it's, I, I do think UFC does a great job with like when it's Daniel Cormier, Rogan and like they do not curse.

• 1:10:55Theo Von?

With John Anick, those three are the greatest

• 1:10:57Speaker 01

  The greatest.

• 1:10:58Theo Von?

group that's ever done it. And they also have, and they have Bisping, Paul Felder, even when those guys aren't doing it, Poirier's on there now, Chris Weidman, uh, Cormier, I mean, yeah, but those guys are all so good.

• 1:11:08Speaker 01

  Poirier's been great.

• 1:11:09Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah, dude, he's been great, dude. He's like, yeah, I just love, like, I love seeing those guys get to be not just fighters and get to share their personalities. Um, I gotta ask you about, I feel like such a fricking reporter now, gotta ask, uh, dude, so tell me about Nate Land. It's real.

• 1:11:26Speaker 01

  Theme park, it's real.

• 1:11:27Theo Von?

  The theme park is real?

• 1:11:28Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:11:28Theo Von?

  Okay.

• 1:11:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:11:30Theo Von?

Where are we at with it? Like, what's going on?

• 1:11:34Speaker 01

We're about to getting to some investing.

• 1:11:38Theo Von?

  Okay.

• 1:11:38Speaker 01

So, we're about to start that kind of process. We have the land, or we basically think we, we know where we want the land to be. We have not, we, like, we haven't said anything we're about to land, or where it's at or anything yet, but we've narrowed it down to basically this one spot. And then, so, it's, but yeah, I mean, we're, we have the renderings, they're working on it every day.

• 1:12:05Speaker 01

We have Storyland, Storyland is a group that, Storyland is a group, they did, they've done stuff with everything.

• 1:12:14Speaker 01

They, I think they had some stuff to do with Epic. It's a lot of the guys that worked with Disney for a long time, and they started their own kind of company, and they did all the Disney's in Dubai.

• 1:12:22Theo Von?

So, Storyland is a company that helps make these things come to fruition? Like, they build them and everything?

• 1:12:27Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:12:28Theo Von?

  Got it.

• 1:12:28Speaker 01

And so, they, they, they make it, they help you, all that designing, all that rendering, all that, getting that of the idea of what we're trying to do.

• 1:12:37Theo Von?

And is this a real render? Have you seen this before?

• 1:12:39Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:12:40Theo Von?

Okay, and what is on this render? Can you zoom in on that photo for me some?

• 1:12:43Speaker 01

Uh, it's, it's gonna be, so like, it says Nate Land in the front, like, so that front area right past the Nate Land is gonna be like a retro mall. So, that's like, that would be open all year round, and you can go in there and you can have, you know, like, we talked, like, Netflix House that we talked about earlier, you know, maybe you could have something like that. I'm, I'm not saying this is what we're, we are having in there, but you could have some stuff like that, restaurants, stuff like that, that's open all year round. You have three sections of the park, you have a section to the left.

• 1:13:10Theo Von?

  Uh, is that roller coasters?

• 1:13:12Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what's crazy, dude? I just went to, I was in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

• 1:13:17Theo Von?

You went to the, uh, Kennywood?

• 1:13:20Speaker 01

  No, Hershey Park.

• 1:13:21Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 1:13:22Speaker 01

  Dollywood?

• 1:13:23Theo Von?

  Now, I'm thinking of Kennywood.

• 1:13:24Speaker 01

I think I know Kennywood, too.

• 1:13:25Theo Von?

  Kennywood's in Pittsburgh.

• 1:13:26Speaker 01

Oh, no, we didn't go there. Went to Hershey Park.

• 1:13:28Theo Von?

  How was that?

• 1:13:29Speaker 01

It's, it's awesome. And so, we rode some roller coasters, which were, it was kind of roller coaster shopping, which was crazy.

• 1:13:37Theo Von?

  Cause you're like, meh.

• 1:13:39Speaker 01

Well, you would just ride, well, no, they had a few that you like.

• 1:13:41Theo Von?

They rolled back the miles on this one?

• 1:13:42Speaker 01

Yeah, you go. There you go. No, thank you. But it was weird to be riding a roller coaster, being like, yeah, that was, they go, that one felt great. And then you're like... You know, you're kind of like, yeah, yeah, let's do that one.

• 1:13:58Theo Von?

Dude, that's wild. And who did you go with? Was that just a family trip?

• 1:14:01Speaker 01

No, no, I was on the road. I was there. I did shows there. And so we had one guy from Storyland who came up and he kind of just walked me through and said, uh, one of, for this one roller coaster we're doing, the roller coaster we're about to ride is very similar to the one that we're looking at, the same people made this roller coaster. So you're kind of riding the roller coaster, knowing that that company is who would make that roller coaster or this is another one. So you're really riding some stuff and, and getting a, you know, being like, all right, what's this one kind of feel like? What's this one do?

• 1:14:34Theo Von?

And, and, and how much is a coaster, decent coaster?

• 1:14:37Speaker 01

Uh, I found out like, uh, there was one, there was one like, uh, uh, like a big one might be like 30 million dollars. Like, or I'm not like, you know, I don't know if it's the biggest one, but like, uh, a kind of newer, very, very good coaster they have. We were get, someone was just trying to guess there, uh, was about 30, they said 30 million dollars. And then there's some other rides that were, one was like a new version of a Tilt-A-Whirl kind of, but it was like, kind of moved around.

• 1:15:17Theo Von?

  You tried that out too?

• 1:15:18Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, we, we rode that, just seeing what that was. And I think that was like 850,000 dollars.

• 1:15:24Theo Von?

Oh, that's one. You can get that one.

• 1:15:25Speaker 01

That one you get in your house, you know? You go just go and lay away. You can just have that.

• 1:15:30Theo Von?

Lay, lay, lay away, lay away, yeah. Dang, I bet Kid Rock could get that thing. He freaking do, but he probably.

• 1:15:39Speaker 01

But it's like, yes, you start going through and.

• 1:15:41Theo Von?

  He'd ruin it.

• 1:15:43Speaker 01

And this theme park, I mean, he would ruin the, the.

• 1:15:47Theo Von?

Sorry, I decided to say that.

• 1:15:48Speaker 01

He'd put it on the white, it's in the white.

• 1:15:50Theo Von?

There's so many clips of me just roasting him, even though we're friends. I freaking love roasting him. Oh yeah, he'd ruin it, dude. And he would spend his money on that instead of buying his brother a new leg who's missing one. Shout out Billy.

• 1:16:02Theo Von?

  But yeah, go on.

• 1:16:03Speaker 01

He could, well, he should get a discount and be like, if you get 50 grand off.

• 1:16:09Speaker 01

Throw that 50 to that leg.

• 1:16:10Theo Von?

  That's what I'm saying.

• 1:16:11Speaker 01

He already wrapped his head around spinning 850.

• 1:16:13Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:14Speaker 01

And then, you know what, you could go, like if Kid Rock goes, "I'm spinning 850 for this." And then he goes to his brother and goes, "If you can get any down, you can get that leg."

• 1:16:25Theo Von?

Right, whatever you save, you earn.

• 1:16:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:16:27Theo Von?

Yeah, I love that and limb him up. Oh, if I had a brother missing something, I'd limb his little ass up in a heartbeat. But that's me.

• 1:16:34Speaker 01

  Uh, but.

• 1:16:36Theo Von?

So, do you have a budget for how much you can spend on coasters for this thing?

• 1:16:39Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, it's all budgeted in, like, I mean, you know, we're looking, it's like roughly gonna be like 350 million dollars. And then, yeah.

• 1:16:47Theo Von?

And is, will the land be a lease or will it be owning the land?

• 1:16:51Speaker 01

  I, it's, there's a lot of that I can't get into.

• 1:16:54Theo Von?

Okay, and how hands-on with you are all of that? Like, some of it and some of it's obviously this, like, the minutia you wouldn't be involved in, but, yeah. How hands-on with you are all that?

• 1:17:02Speaker 01

I'm picking, picking the land, I mean, it's crazy, cuz you're, I'll be in this, in these meetings and I forget, again, we were talking about like being in charge, I forget, like, story land, like, all this stuff when you do this, I'm paying for all this, for them to go do the feasibility study and like to economic study and, I mean, these are giant studies that they do when you do investments to go, to show the tax revenue that it can bring, the jobs that you can bring to Nashville. I mean, the reason I love this idea and doing this is the idea of providing jobs. I want, I want it, I want our customer, like, the workers to be very much like, you know, it is Disney or like, you think like Chick-fil-A where you know they're just great workers and you want people to be able to come there.

• 1:17:47Speaker 01

Someone like me that wasn't able to go, that couldn't get into college. And like, so you don't know what, you know, my, I just was like, I'm a comedian, but it was before that, you're like, I was a water meter reader, I didn't know what jobs, you know, you don't meet people that have other crazy jobs.

• 1:18:03Theo Von?

  You were reading water meters?

• 1:18:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:18:05Theo Von?

  Oh, God.

• 1:18:05Speaker 01

  I read from Mount Juliet.

• 1:18:06Theo Von?

  Did you?

• 1:18:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:18:08Theo Von?

They got a lot of water out there, huh?

• 1:18:09Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, a lot of meters. And you had to go do it.

• 1:18:13Theo Von?

Cause you can't just guess, huh?

• 1:18:14Speaker 01

Now, I think they have it where you can drive by it and it just does it electronically. I had to get out with a crowbar and you would lift up the thing and type in how much water.

• 1:18:24Theo Von?

And they have snakes in there sometimes?

• 1:18:25Speaker 01

Oh, yeah. I remember one was laid right on top of the water meter. And you gotta get it.

• 1:18:30Theo Von?

  That makes my body nervous.

• 1:18:31Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, spiders. And you never knew, every time you opened one up.

• 1:18:36Theo Von?

You ever find anything cool in there, a little stash, a bag, a little bag of something?

• 1:18:39Speaker 01

Uh, no, I don't think I ever found anything like that, no. But.

• 1:18:44Theo Von?

Really? Nobody had nothing, a little spare lunch?

• 1:18:46Speaker 01

No, no, I don't think people.

• 1:18:47Theo Von?

A little sack of Christmas ornaments or something?

• 1:18:49Speaker 01

It would be a good place to put something.

• 1:18:52Theo Von?

Cause nobody thinks about that. It's so accessible.

• 1:18:54Speaker 01

Yeah, I don't think they do. But it would have been a good spot to put something.

• 1:18:59Theo Von?

But you'd see spiders up in there?

• 1:19:00Speaker 01

I mean, yeah, that was every one of them had spiders.

• 1:19:03Theo Von?

  No.

• 1:19:04Speaker 01

  They loved it.

• 1:19:05Theo Von?

And you ever see a clean one, somebody taking care of it?

• 1:19:07Speaker 01

No, no, I mean, it's, you know, I mean, I guess a newer house, like, you know, one, I think it just hasn't been through it yet.

• 1:19:14Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:15Speaker 01

But, uh, yeah, but I do remember this snake. Snake was just curled right on top of it and I had to get it off cause I have to lift the thing to read it.

• 1:19:24Theo Von?

Gosh. Yeah, I sold Italian food door to door for a while with this fella dude and that was a dang.

• 1:19:31Speaker 01

Pizza or just all Italian food?

• 1:19:33Theo Von?

Huh? Uh, no, we had bread rolls, we had, um, Italian. It was like this thing called Italian caviar or whatever, but it was really just like raviolis.

• 1:19:46Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:19:47Theo Von?

And then, uh, what else? Uh, like, um, pastas, bolognese.

• 1:19:55Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:19:56Theo Von?

They had arrabbiata, uh, what else? Uh. I think they had vodka, sauce, pizza or something.

• 1:20:05Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:20:06Theo Von?

I don't know, but we just had like this.

• 1:20:07Speaker 01

  I delivered pizzas too.

• 1:20:08Theo Von?

  You delivered pizzas?

• 1:20:09Speaker 01

  Pizza Hut.

• 1:20:10Theo Von?

You worked at Pizza Hut, dude. They're redoing it. You saw that? They're coming back.

• 1:20:14Speaker 01

Oh, yeah. Yeah. You know why? Cause experiences.

• 1:20:16Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 1:20:16Speaker 01

That's a big thing. That's a big reason. It's stuff for people to do. Cause they, we had that, uh, you remember they used to have a buffet, pizza buffet. That pizza was great.

• 1:20:26Theo Von?

You kidding? Where would your mom fight? It's when your parents had a real something serious going on in the marriage. They'd take you there.

• 1:20:31Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 1:20:32Theo Von?

That was something serious was happening. And it could be something good or bad.

• 1:20:35Speaker 01

Ford waters and you got a Sprite. And hope they didn't notice.

• 1:20:38Theo Von?

  With those big red cups?

• 1:20:39Speaker 01

Hope they didn't notice. Yeah. I would buy, I would buy five dozens of those red cups. The Coke, any soda tastes the best out of that.

• 1:20:49Theo Von?

  It's true, huh?

• 1:20:50Speaker 01

  It's the best.

• 1:20:51Theo Von?

Now, they had a particular type of ice in there too, I think.

• 1:20:54Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:20:55Theo Von?

  A little bit.

• 1:20:56Speaker 01

  Like a little shaved Sonic.

• 1:20:57Theo Von?

  Yeah, it was something different.

• 1:20:59Speaker 01

  Something was different.

• 1:20:59Theo Von?

I think having a unique ice, it's little things like that that can add a lot of texture to a place. Um, a little bit more about Nate Land. So, so some things, obviously, you have to get the funding to make sure you can get the space. So some things, it's like, this happens, then this will happen. It's like a domino falling effect.

• 1:21:14Speaker 01

Yeah, if they're like, I mean, it's right now, I'm spending all the money for it.

• 1:21:20Theo Von?

And now are you putting your own money in with somebody else or what's going on here?

• 1:21:22Speaker 01

  No, it's just my money.

• 1:21:24Theo Von?

So you're the only money in right now?

• 1:21:25Speaker 01

Right now, this doesn't go anywhere. I will be in big trouble. No, I mean, I would be touring for the rest of. But it's like, right now, it's on, it's just me.

• 1:21:34Theo Von?

What made you make that choice? It's a big choice. And no judgment. And I think it's a cool choice. I think it's a good choice. What makes you make it? And I wish you the best of luck with the dude. It's exciting. I'll go over there.

• 1:21:43Speaker 01

Thank you. We'd love to. Uh, it's, uh, you know, my first job was a theme park. I worked at Opera Land here in Nashville. And I was 15. And so, I don't know, then they got rid of that my senior year in high school. And I mean, the whole city kind of was like, why would you do that? Like it was a profitable theme park. Everybody kind of liked it. I I I'm not saying from that day I was like, I'm gonna build a theme park. But then as I got, uh.

• 1:22:13Theo Von?

Why did they close it, do you know?

• 1:22:14Speaker 01

They they got a mall, there's a mall there now, Opry Mills Mall.

• 1:22:18Theo Von?

It used to be Opryland, a theme park?

• 1:22:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:22:21Theo Von?

  Right there?

• 1:22:21Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:22:21Theo Von?

  I didn't even know that.

• 1:22:22Speaker 01

Yeah, I don't even know if, it'd be curious to see if there's a reason. I don't know if there'd be a real reason on on the internet, to be honest. I think that it was like, maybe prob, like it was like just easier to have a mall than it would be a theme park for whatever reason.

• 1:22:36Theo Von?

Got it. Opryland USA closed in 1997 because its parent company Gaylord Entertainment wanted to transition, sorry. Crazy name, Gaylord, because the lord, I think, is straight.

• 1:22:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:22:48Theo Von?

Wanted to transition the seasonal theme park into a highly profitable year-round retail entertainment complex. Understandable.

• 1:22:54Speaker 01

Yeah. So, that was the wall bash cannonball, the one that goes upside down.

• 1:22:58Theo Von?

Oh, that was it? You remember the name of that one?

• 1:23:00Speaker 01

  I know, mall, yeah.

• 1:23:01Theo Von?

  What's that one?

• 1:23:02Speaker 01

  Screaming, wall bash cannonball.

• 1:23:03Theo Von?

  The wall bash cannonball?

• 1:23:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:23:05Theo Von?

Dang, so you were there, Nate?

• 1:23:07Speaker 01

Yeah, Screaming, the Screaming Delta Demon.

• 1:23:09Theo Von?

Oh, yeah, I met her before. I met her, dang it, out at, uh, she goes to Mississippi State, for sure.

• 1:23:18Theo Von?

I think she just did 50 days of boozing out there at, uh, Knoxville, for sure. Dude, uh, oh my god, so you were in the trenches there at Opryland?

• 1:23:27Speaker 01

I was a, I was a sweeper and I worked in the dog kennel, and my dad did magic there.

• 1:23:33Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 1:23:34Speaker 01

So, but it, like, so the reason I thought about this was like the idea, it's, uh, you know, when you started, I started doing all these arenas and all this. My, I, the, the, my, I, my big daydreaming goal when I was starting comedy was the Headline Bridgestone. And so when I, when I did it for the first time, I remember that night, uh, I really was like, I mean, I remember it was that night, I was like, what am I supposed to do now? Because I just thought about that for 20 years. And then, uh, which is crazy, it was 20 years, pretty much, I think, exactly for me to get there, to Headline Bridgestone.

• 1:24:11Theo Von?

And, uh, congratulations on that, dude.

• 1:24:13Speaker 01

And we sold 19,365 tickets, which is 20 years. Isn't that crazy?

• 1:24:19Speaker 01

If you're into, I don't know, I'm not even into numbers.

• 1:24:21Theo Von?

You sold nineteen thousand three hundred and sixty-five tickets.

• 1:24:23Speaker 01

  So nineteen years plus.

• 1:24:25Theo Von?

  Three hundred and sixty-five.

• 1:24:26Speaker 01

  Which is twenty years.

• 1:24:26Theo Von?

  Twenty years, dang.

• 1:24:27Speaker 01

And but, uh, so when you, when I got to that, I go, alright, like, I just felt like, what am I? What's the next? You gotta have something else. It can't be, you know, I, you gotta, I gotta assume that if I keep becoming a great comic, arenas will come. I'll be able to do Madison Square Garden, I'll be able to do all this stuff. So I have to, I believe in myself that I can do that. But then what's the purpose of me? Like, what's the, and I, and I thought, it can't be about me.

• 1:24:55Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:24:55Speaker 01

This life cannot be about me, or I'm gonna go crazy.

• 1:24:58Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:24:59Speaker 01

And so, uh, from that moment is when I started Nate, when I was like, I'm gonna start Nate Land the Company. The idea of like being able to make some movies that are, the movie that we're making right now, The Breadwinner. And then, uh, you know, I thought of a theme park and thought like, you know what? I wanna build a place where, you know, maybe all my ideas can go live. This theme park's not gonna be about me, it's about the state of Tennessee, but, or it's about, you know, it's called Nate Land, and there's gonna be Easter egg-ish stuff, but people think it's gonna be a, like a sh- shrine to me, it's not. It's, you know, it's gonna represent Nashville and all this stuff. It's like, you just gotta have someone that has the vision to be able to wanna go do it.

• 1:25:38Theo Von?

Did you guys have choices for different names? Is Nate Land because it's the production company, so you just named it the same thing?

• 1:25:43Speaker 01

It's just always been, yeah, Nate Land is a.

• 1:25:45Theo Von?

And I get it, look, I mean, you worked at it, you worked at a theme park, you came up with it, it's like, I certainly get the.

• 1:25:50Speaker 01

I think it's the, it's the trust. The reason, the reason it's named after me is the trust. If you get, if I can keep trust with my audience, with this audience that we do, and that's the biggest thing. So if they can trust that I, they know that they can see what I'm doing, then it's like, you kinda need to know who's making, like, who's behind this.

• 1:26:10Theo Von?

I see, so you're putting yourself behind.

• 1:26:12Speaker 01

  I will sell the tickets.

• 1:26:13Theo Von?

  Got it.

• 1:26:14Speaker 01

I, the responsibility of that park thriving is on me. I need to sell the ticket, tickets. I need to keep the trust that I have with this audience, that's on me. That's not anybody else's problem, I'll do it. That's, that's what I feel has been bestowed upon. Upon me, that's I'm just doing what I feel I'm being asked to do.

• 1:26:32Theo Von?

Called to do. Did you pray about it kinda too? Like if you had a, cause this is, some of these are big choices, not that you need to.

• 1:26:37Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, no, yeah, yeah. A lot of it is. I mean, a lot of it is, you feel very much like, you know, doors and, and stuff and your ideas and stuff that you think of or start.

• 1:26:48Theo Von?

Oh, it's not even yours. It belongs, it's kind of like a higher power.

• 1:26:50Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I very much, you, you, I mean, you can visualize a lot of stuff. And then I think when you can easily visualize something, you're like, and then the doors start opening in that way, then you go, that's the direction you need to kinda head in. Where if you're, if you're, if you want something else, but you're having a hard time visualizing it, then you're probably forcing. And that's probably not the direction you need to go in. You need to just, like, you just kinda follow the lead. And, uh, as we did Nate Land and then it was just kinda like.

• 1:27:19Theo Von?

Dude, I'm so excited. You got me excited now. Cause yeah, you hear little things and you see things on X and stuff like that, but you don't know, you know? And so I feel so lucky that I'm getting to listen to you talk about it.

• 1:27:28Speaker 01

Yeah, it's, I mean, you know, one of the things I do, I want, you know, eventually to, I think when you go to Nate Land, maybe you don't really know who Nate is. And it's not about that. Like it's about everything there and it's about your family.

• 1:27:39Theo Von?

Oh, one day, that's what everything becomes. It's like, you don't even know. It's like you go to like, uh, Applebee's or whatever. You don't know who Roger Applebee is anymore.

• 1:27:47Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:27:47Theo Von?

You know, or whatever. If you go to like Tim Hortons, you don't even.

• 1:27:51Speaker 01

Logan's, you don't know the Logan.

• 1:27:53Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. You don't even know Logan's. I think Ernest lives there now. He's living in one of them.

• 1:27:57Speaker 01

  Ernest Tebas?

• 1:27:58Theo Von?

  No, Ernest.

• 1:27:59Speaker 01

  Ernest, uh. Oh, the singer?

• 1:28:01Theo Von?

Yeah, Ernest the singer, dude. He, for Logan's Roadhouse, he's kinda like John Daly is for Hooters.

• 1:28:06Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:28:07Theo Von?

I think he like lives in the back of one of them. Bless him, brother. Bless Ernest. He has a new album coming out too. I gotta get him and Willie Robertson in here so I'm not gonna sit and chop it up. Those guys are funny. Um, but no, dude, I just understand it more. Now take me on some of these rides, cause I know you've already thought about some of the ride. Wait, first of all, hold on. Is there gonna be a water facility? You're not doing the water thing, huh?

• 1:28:29Speaker 01

  Water park? No, no.

• 1:28:32Theo Von?

  Because also people get electrocuted.

• 1:28:34Speaker 01

  I can't say, yes.

• 1:28:35Theo Von?

  People get electrocuted.

• 1:28:36Speaker 01

  In water parks?

• 1:28:37Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:38Speaker 01

  Really?

• 1:28:39Theo Von?

Well, I mean, they're not gonna, if you get electrocuted, this is kinda crazy.

• 1:28:42Speaker 01

  Cause if it rains.

• 1:28:43Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:28:44Theo Von?

Well, if it rains, it's more water, but if you get, if you get electrocuted, do you have to have water to get electrocuted? No, I've been electrocuted. I got electrocuted on a food truck that was selling seafood, illegal seafood. Um.

• 1:28:58Speaker 01

  You know.

• 1:28:59Theo Von?

  What are we talking about?

• 1:28:59Speaker 01

Sorry. Well, you've been in Portland, you know Portland, but always, I thought of this, or like, or like, uh, uh, uh, like said, like, uh, food trucks, right? Like, people make fun of like, cause I'll go to McDonald's and all that stuff, the people go to food truck, and they'll be like, they're raving about this food truck, you're like, this guy had his food in his Honda Civic all night. You gotta trust that he took it home.

• 1:29:21Theo Von?

  Yeah, dude.

• 1:29:21Speaker 01

And you go, who are you to tell me that mine's at least in a building and frozen?

• 1:29:26Theo Von?

  I've always thought that.

• 1:29:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:29:27Theo Von?

Like, they would call, especially people from the south, like rednecks, like, but dude, this guy, yeah, that, you know how close that is to his gas tank? Like, he's cooking right over.

• 1:29:36Speaker 01

New York City is like, you know, it's like, then there's been a long line in a food truck and

• 1:29:40Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:41Speaker 01

you're, you know, and it's like, oh, that's okay. And you're like, McDonald's safer than that.

• 1:29:46Theo Von?

Yeah, dude, I don't want a quesadilla that is, that got here at 80 miles an hour.

• 1:29:50Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:29:51Theo Von?

  You know?

• 1:29:51Speaker 01

That's got tire marks on it, cause he backed it, cause he got in a fight that morning with his wife and he ran out and

• 1:29:56Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:57Speaker 01

but he had the plastic over him, so he's like, it doesn't matter, like.

• 1:30:00Theo Von?

  Like, that changes everything.

• 1:30:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:30:01Theo Von?

If you put plastic over something, it changes everything. Little Saran Wrap?

• 1:30:05Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:30:06Theo Von?

If he's like, oh dang, this is like three days old, you put some Saran Wrap over it? Who knows?

• 1:30:10Speaker 01

  Who knows, dude?

• 1:30:11Theo Von?

Like he just put it together.

• 1:30:13Speaker 01

Kids back there, it's like when you get an Uber and there's a car seat and you're like, I don't wanna be a part of your life, man.

• 1:30:17Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:30:18Speaker 01

I just wanna ride in an Uber.

• 1:30:19Theo Von?

Yeah, I didn't know Kevin Hart was in here earlier. Um, did you get, did you get us to be on the roast?

• 1:30:24Speaker 01

Uh, I think, I think, I think so, but I mean, that's just not my kinda thing.

• 1:30:29Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:30:29Speaker 01

Yeah. So, I mean, it would have, I had a show same time, too.

• 1:30:33Theo Von?

  You did?

• 1:30:34Speaker 01

Mm-hmm. But, yeah, they did it. They did the roast.

• 1:30:38Theo Von?

Oh, none of the roasters, I don't think, had a problem with the jokes? Um, oh wait, except for Chelsea Handler did, I think. Chelsea Handler came out and said that she has some problem with some of Shane and Tony's jokes, maybe?

• 1:30:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:30:49Theo Von?

  Um.

• 1:30:49Speaker 01

I don't think with the roast, I think with Shane and Tony.

• 1:30:51Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think she had a problem with them. Good call.

• 1:30:53Speaker 01

  She kinda said the, yeah.

• 1:30:55Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:30:55Speaker 01

It was like, I don't know about all the jokes, mainly Shane and Tony.

• 1:31:00Theo Von?

Do you feel like in that kind of instance, if people are signing up for something like that, it feels like it's like fair game unless it's like vile, you know, maybe?

• 1:31:07Speaker 01

I think it's gotta all be fair game, just signing up for it. I mean, it's like, like, I know, you know, it's like one of those, like, where are you gonna say the line is? The roasts have just, they've just, I believe have gotten to, the spirit of the roast is kinda gone. You're not really having people on there that love each other. And so if there's no love shown, then it's, it's, it just gets mean and, you know. And but, I mean, not saying that they did, they did what they were asked to do.

• 1:31:37Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:31:38Speaker 01

I thought they, a lot of them did a great job. You know what I was very happy for? Big J Erickson killed it.

• 1:31:42Theo Von?

Yes, me too. I sent him a message.

• 1:31:44Speaker 01

Yeah, Big J, I was very happy, you know, I've been with Big J, we started with him, like, so Jay crushed it and Naeem Lin, I thought crushed it. And I like Naeem Lin, but those, those people have a connection with Kevin Hart.

• 1:31:59Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:31:59Speaker 01

And so they, there's, there's, you can see that the love is there. I thought Shane did very good. Or like, you know, moving along, hosting it, like, it's a hard thing to,

• 1:32:09Theo Von?

It's a lot of tough game.

• 1:32:10Speaker 01

It's a lot to go do. Yeah, people did what they were supposed to do, but I mean, these roasts, it's like, they're just mean.

• 1:32:20Theo Von?

Some of the feeling, you're right, dude. Some of the feeling that you get with it, it's like, it's intense, it's funny, and some of it is like,

• 1:32:29Theo Von?

some of it is kinda like, yeah, what feeling do I really leave here with in the end, right? Like, I leave with some temporary highs for sure. Oh, that was crazy. That was creative. Even something that's edgy and dark can be, still be very creative. But yeah, some of it, it's like, does some of this really make me feel good or does like, yeah?

• 1:32:48Speaker 01

I think Kevin Hart did great handling a lot of it too.

• 1:32:51Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:32:52Speaker 01

It was like, it wasn't, you know, he, you know, kept saying like, this is what you signed up for and,

• 1:32:58Theo Von?

  Yeah, he kept the energy.

• 1:32:59Speaker 01

The messaging was good from him afterwards, like, cause I mean, he was like such a tough, crazy.

• 1:33:05Theo Von?

  It's a crazy experience.

• 1:33:05Speaker 01

But it's like, I mean, you know, you, what you, I think if you do roast, if you go look back at the old roast and stuff, these guys, the, the people that were up there were really, as far as I knew, but they really knew each other. They were really friends. Are they, there was actually love really shown. So you could go do stuff. And when there's no love shown, and with some of them, they don't even know them each other. It's like, it's gonna be, it's gonna be tough. Cheryl Underwood did great, like what, you know, the stuff they were saying. But how she handled that, she, she has a great laugh and like, so it's like,

• 1:33:42Theo Von?

  She handled it well.

• 1:33:43Speaker 01

She handled it very well and like, uh.

• 1:33:45Theo Von?

Yeah, I had a joke I was thinking while she was there. I was like, oh, she looks like Prince put his finger in the new power generation. That was something I, that I thought of while she was up there, you know? Cause I like sitting home.

• 1:33:54Speaker 01

  Were you at it?

• 1:33:55Theo Von?

And thinking of jokes. Nuh-uh. I wasn't at it. I don't wanna go, like, I don't want them catching my face if I see something. If my feelings get hurt or something, I got enough of that shit out there. So I don't need any of that. But yeah, it was just interesting.

• 1:34:08Speaker 01

They, oh yeah, cause you get enough. You just get more calls and texts.

• 1:34:12Theo Von?

  Oh dude, yeah.

• 1:34:13Speaker 01

They just show your face and they go, you're about to jump off a building.

• 1:34:16Theo Von?

Yeah, he's not doing well. Every week, it's like somebody's like, oh, Theo's not doing well. I'm doing fine. In fact, I'm doing great.

• 1:34:24Speaker 01

Yeah. Well, that's what, that's what people wanna hear though. You know?

• 1:34:27Theo Von?

  That he's not doing well.

• 1:34:28Speaker 01

  No, that you're doing great.

• 1:34:30Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:30Speaker 01

I think sometimes people worry about you, but that's a lot of love shown your way that people worry about you.

• 1:34:34Theo Von?

Yeah, but sometimes people take stuff that's kinda normal and they put it in their own space and put it out there like, oh, this guy's having a problem. And I think my podcast has always just been like a place like, where I just kinda share what's going on, right? Like, I share it pretty transparently, I guess, and maybe I shouldn't do that as much. But I don't share it cause I need somebody's acclaim or approval.

• 1:34:53Speaker 01

  No, I understand that.

• 1:34:54Theo Von?

But I think, I don't like it. Sometimes people will frame it like, oh, we can help this guy. It's like, dude, I'm fine. You know, like, I'm as fine as any human being is. Being a human seems real spooky sometimes.

• 1:35:05Speaker 01

Yeah. Start every podcast with, I'm fine.

• 1:35:08Theo Von?

Yeah, I know. But then here's the crazy part. The, the more you say shit, like, then it becomes this thing. So the whole thing is kinda crazy.

• 1:35:14Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:35:15Theo Von?

  You know?

• 1:35:15Speaker 01

Do a podcast from the top of a building. And just go, I'm fine.

• 1:35:20Theo Von?

That'd be a great idea, dude.

• 1:35:21Speaker 01

You know my buddy Julian McCullough.

• 1:35:22Theo Von?

Actually, is this crazy for me to say it?

• 1:35:26Speaker 01

  It's really playing into it.

• 1:35:27Theo Von?

I like that idea, dude, you know?

• 1:35:29Speaker 01

  I don't.

• 1:35:30Theo Von?

And look, we keep moving the desk closer over to the edge.

• 1:35:35Speaker 01

They goes, he all right? He goes, I'm fine. And he just starts scoot. My, my Julian McCullough, you know Julian? He has a very funny joke, like when he gambles, like when he loses, uh, he goes, hey, do y'all got a bathroom on top of the roof? He always tells the, the dealer. It's just such a funny thing to say after you lose a big game. Hey, excuse me, y'all got a bathroom on top of the roof?

• 1:36:01Theo Von?

Well, we're definitely living, it seems like in the sixth circle of hell these days. You know, we're getting, things have gotten a little, you know, things are getting a little interesting.

• 1:36:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:36:10Theo Von?

Um, we, oh, we gotta talk about the rides, dude. So what, first of all, what are the?

• 1:36:14Speaker 01

Well, I don't know if I'm gonna be able to tell you anything about the rides.

• 1:36:17Theo Von?

For the rides at that, at Nate Land?

• 1:36:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:36:19Theo Von?

But do you know the governor that's gonna be the speed on them or whatever? Have you already decided?

• 1:36:23Speaker 01

No, no, no. We, I mean, we're going through, oh, like how fast?

• 1:36:28Theo Von?

Let me run one of them.

• 1:36:30Speaker 01

I'll let you run one of them. I will.

• 1:36:33Theo Von?

  Let me run one.

• 1:36:33Speaker 01

  I know.

• 1:36:34Theo Von?

Just for an evening, just do Theo night.

• 1:36:36Speaker 01

I do a Theo night, you run it. And then you get on it with them, but you don't pull the safety thing down. You go.

• 1:36:43Theo Von?

  Oh, I see.

• 1:36:44Speaker 01

  End of every.

• 1:36:44Theo Von?

  It doesn't work.

• 1:36:45Speaker 01

Yeah, you go, yeah. No, I'm saying you sit in it and you leave yours up and they go, he's not fine. And that's the, and we are, we just always play into that. There you go. Theo's crazy, he goes, I don't need it. Or you just hold it and you see if you can go do it. I'll let you do a roller coaster. I don't, I just, uh, yeah, just to.

• 1:37:06Theo Von?

Let me DJ it one night or something?

• 1:37:08Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:37:09Theo Von?

Or what are good rides? I'm trying to think for like, even for young, like. I wish they had a ride that helped you. Like the lisp fix or whatever.

• 1:37:18Speaker 01

  Oh, like a spinner.

• 1:37:19Theo Von?

Just something like it just spun you so much you the lisp just flew right out.

• 1:37:23Speaker 01

  Counterclockwise.

• 1:37:24Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:25Speaker 01

  Spinner counterclockwise.

• 1:37:26Theo Von?

Yeah. Time after time. Remember that song?

• 1:37:30Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:37:31Theo Von?

You could rush, you could buy, you could steal by me.

• 1:37:35Speaker 01

  Was that a lisp?

• 1:37:36Theo Von?

  Time after time.

• 1:37:37Speaker 01

Is that a song about lisp?

• 1:37:39Theo Von?

I don't know who sang that, but I just think if they had a, or the underbite fixer or whatever. I'm trying to think of a good, like a ride that would like, you know?

• 1:37:45Speaker 01

Underbite fixer would be just, we have a guy walk around, he just punches you.

• 1:37:49Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:50Speaker 01

Undercut and you don't ever know where he's at.

• 1:37:53Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:53Speaker 01

And you just know when you go in with an underbite, we've clocked you.

• 1:37:57Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:58Speaker 01

Facial recognition, all that stuff, we can tell. And then he's just a guy. That's just, you know, he's gonna get you and you know, he's gonna get you.

• 1:38:07Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:38:08Speaker 01

But he's gonna get you so good that you're never gonna see it coming. And we fix that underbite.

• 1:38:12Theo Von?

  I like that.

• 1:38:13Speaker 01

  Yeah, no charge.

• 1:38:14Theo Von?

I like that idea. Or yeah, or if they had like the GLP one.

• 1:38:19Speaker 01

  The Ozempic ride.

• 1:38:20Theo Von?

Yes. And when you get off and it makes you, spins you so fast that you get a little leaner because of how it does your body.

• 1:38:27Speaker 01

  Mm hmm.

• 1:38:27Theo Von?

Or like when you take a shirt or a towel and you put it in the washer and you do the spin cycle.

• 1:38:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:38:33Theo Von?

And it comes out, it almost stand up itself. It's got so much centrifugal in it.

• 1:38:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:38:38Theo Von?

Well, you do that, boy, get your mama so spun around, she dang, you know what I'm saying? She'll fit into a size one and a half. Yeah.

• 1:38:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:38:44Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:38:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:38:45Theo Von?

She'll fit into her dang baby outfit.

• 1:38:47Speaker 01

For at least an hour. Like maybe it's, I don't think it's gonna be forever.

• 1:38:50Theo Von?

  No, it's not.

• 1:38:51Speaker 01

But it's at least an hour. Yeah.

• 1:38:53Theo Von?

  It's not full time.

• 1:38:53Speaker 01

Yeah, no, no. If you wanna go get married, you're like, you do that and you better get over to that. You better get to that church quick.

• 1:39:01Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:39:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:39:01Theo Von?

I gotta be in Nate land at 1:00 PM and then I gotta be.

• 1:39:04Speaker 01

You talking about that food that you ate where you feel it expand in your mouth? That's what's gonna happen to your body in a wedding dress, but you come in.

• 1:39:11Theo Von?

Now, yeah, once the ban starts though, honey, that's on your own.

• 1:39:14Speaker 01

Yeah, here, we, we're not responsible for that.

• 1:39:16Theo Von?

Yeah, you get one, I mean, but yeah.

• 1:39:18Speaker 01

  You get one.

• 1:39:18Theo Von?

You could fit into your sixth grade graduation pants if you had.

• 1:39:21Speaker 01

  For one, for one hour.

• 1:39:23Theo Von?

  Yeah, I like that.

• 1:39:25Speaker 01

  That's a good ride.

• 1:39:26Theo Von?

And that ride does that to you.

• 1:39:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:39:28Theo Von?

You know, or something that would just do a bunch of women's hair. I could see that in the South. You know, they put this on you like this, the cover to cover your body, like to hold you in, but then they put that head thing on you, the.

• 1:39:39Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:39:41Theo Von?

You know, and then they get out and everybody's beehive and walking out of there looking like Marge Simpson and her two sisters.

• 1:39:47Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's a good ride.

• 1:39:50Theo Von?

Dude, I'm telling you, I can help you.

• 1:39:53Speaker 01

  I would love it. Yeah.

• 1:39:56Theo Von?

Really? It doesn't seem like that right now.

• 1:39:57Speaker 01

No, no, I think we have a, I think we're gonna have a part where you're gonna fit right in.

• 1:40:01Theo Von?

Yeah, let me run that crocodile tank.

• 1:40:04Speaker 01

It's gonna be a swamp, like a swamp pot.

• 1:40:07Theo Von?

Hey, I'm just sitting there petting a crocodile and we took all his scales down, we shaped, we like, uh, used a, um, wood thing to take his scales down low and you can pet him.

• 1:40:17Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:40:17Theo Von?

  De-sharpened him.

• 1:40:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:40:20Theo Von?

  Good idea.

• 1:40:21Speaker 01

What about the mouth? You're like, mouth is, got, we left the mouth.

• 1:40:24Theo Von?

  We forgot about that.

• 1:40:25Speaker 01

He goes, you know how expensive it was to do the top part?

• 1:40:29Speaker 01

And that's when the guy undercuts him, the car cut out. And you go, golly, that guy was worth.

• 1:40:36Speaker 01

It's like a butter bean. Remember butter bean?

• 1:40:38Theo Von?

  Yeah, I remember butter bean.

• 1:40:38Speaker 01

Just a butter bean walking around, just.

• 1:40:41Theo Von?

I saw him at Hulk Hogan's funeral, actually.

• 1:40:43Speaker 01

  Oh, really?

• 1:40:43Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:40:44Speaker 01

You went to Hulk Hogan's funeral? Did you know Hulk Hogan?

• 1:40:47Theo Von?

  I did know Hulk Hogan.

• 1:40:50Speaker 01

  That's pretty crazy.

• 1:40:50Theo Von?

I'm not gonna pretend I knew him great.

• 1:40:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:40:53Theo Von?

But I knew him enough, we would communicate and got to podcast with him and, uh, got to go down there and see him one time then at his bar and restaurant and, uh, a fan of his son Nick. Um, Eric David Scott Esch, better known by his nickname Butterbean.

• 1:41:09Speaker 01

Was there some, just, I mean, everybody at his funeral, like, there's some big guys there.

• 1:41:14Theo Von?

  Oh, dude.

• 1:41:14Speaker 01

  Tall, like, you know.

• 1:41:16Theo Von?

  Mankind was there, I think.

• 1:41:17Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:41:19Theo Von?

Womankind was there too, I think.

• 1:41:21Speaker 01

  Was Undertaker there?

• 1:41:22Theo Von?

I hadn't seen her in a while, but.

• 1:41:23Speaker 01

  Yeah, was it?

• 1:41:24Theo Von?

  She.

• 1:41:25Speaker 01

  Who?

• 1:41:26Theo Von?

  Womankind.

• 1:41:27Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:41:27Theo Von?

  I think whoever that is.

• 1:41:29Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:41:29Theo Von?

Um, Jack saw Jim Duggan was there.

• 1:41:32Speaker 01

  Uh, Undertaker?

• 1:41:34Theo Von?

Undertaker was not there that I didn't see. Jim, uh, Vince McMahon was there. Um, will you have a band, like a Chuck E. Cheese band or anything like that at Nate Land, do you think?

• 1:41:42Speaker 01

Uh, I think that's all, that's open for discussion, yeah. I think it's definitely open.

• 1:41:47Theo Von?

And you gotta have a cool Nate, Nate, oh, Nate Inch Nails would be good.

• 1:41:50Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:41:53Theo Von?

Yeah, he laughed, that's pretty good.

• 1:41:55Speaker 01

It plays, yeah. It's like kid music.

• 1:41:58Theo Von?

  But it's all-

• 1:41:58Speaker 01

  It's rock.

• 1:41:59Theo Von?

But yes, it's a rock band doing kid music, you know?

• 1:42:01Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah. I like that.

• 1:42:03Theo Von?

Thanks, that'd be cool. I'm trying to think of any other one. Nate Vanna, maybe? It's not as good.

• 1:42:08Speaker 01

  Nate and Schnels is-

• 1:42:11Theo Von?

  Might be it.

• 1:42:11Speaker 01

  It might be it.

• 1:42:12Theo Von?

  Nate, go back.

• 1:42:15Theo Von?

  This is how-

• 1:42:16Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:42:17Theo Von?

  You remember-

• 1:42:17Speaker 01

  I like that.

• 1:42:19Theo Von?

Okay. Um, we have a new segment that we're doing, Nate. It's by, uh, it's our Mountain Dew Summer segment.

• 1:42:27Theo Von?

So, thank you for being here, real quick.

• 1:42:28Speaker 01

  Yeah, thank you, buddy.

• 1:42:29Theo Von?

Thank you for being here. And congratulations, dude, on your movie.

• 1:42:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:42:32Theo Von?

Um, and congratulations on your, uh, your goals to make, uh, an amazing theme park in an amazing city.

• 1:42:39Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 1:42:40Theo Von?

I want to say, awesome, man.

• 1:42:41Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:42:41Theo Von?

  It's cool.

• 1:42:42Speaker 01

  I appreciate it.

• 1:42:42Theo Von?

  It's really inspiring.

• 1:42:43Speaker 01

  Thank you, dude.

• 1:42:44Theo Von?

  And I mean that.

• 1:42:44Speaker 01

  Thank you, man.

• 1:42:45Theo Von?

Um, you may have noticed that we have Mountain Dews here, and so they're working with us over the summer, and we're working with them. And we just have a couple of questions. Uh, you're hosting a barbecue, right? And these are for you and me.

• 1:42:58Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:42:59Theo Von?

Cause I hadn't seen these. You're hosting a barbecue, what do you say if you burn someone's meat?

• 1:43:08Speaker 01

Uh, I mean, just like apologize to them, but sorry. Yeah, I'll make you another one. Or you say, I'm gonna, I'll eat that one, and you take it, yeah.

• 1:43:16Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:43:17Speaker 01

That's what you do. You go, I'll eat that one.

• 1:43:18Theo Von?

  I'll handle it.

• 1:43:19Speaker 01

  Yeah, don't worry about it.

• 1:43:20Theo Von?

Yeah. And if there's a lot-

• 1:43:21Speaker 01

No, no, no, no, I, uh-

• 1:43:23Theo Von?

  And then there'll be, yeah-

• 1:43:24Speaker 01

I'd give it to my mom, who eats everything burnt.

• 1:43:26Theo Von?

  She does?

• 1:43:27Speaker 01

  Loves everything burnt.

• 1:43:27Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:43:28Speaker 01

  There's a, there's an old, I think if you're born in the 50s, you're extra well-done all day long.

• 1:43:33Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:43:34Speaker 01

Not even a, not even a... If you see someone walk in, and they're 70, go ahead and start burning that steak.

• 1:43:43Theo Von?

  Yeah, I agree.

• 1:43:44Speaker 01

It's not, they're not doing medium rare, they're not doing medium, the medium well's... Burn it.

• 1:43:50Theo Von?

Yeah, because they're using also prefabricated teeth, a lot of them, so they got-

• 1:43:55Speaker 01

  Some chompers.

• 1:43:56Theo Von?

They got the ability to get through that.

• 1:43:58Speaker 01

They got, they, yeah. They're just shaking it, like a dog. They want, yeah, there's a certain age, and they, they well, well-done.

• 1:44:08Theo Von?

I agree, that's what I say, just, or say, who likes that dark meat? That's another way to get through to them. Uh, do you remember drinking from a two liter bottle of soda? Do you ever remember that like as a kid? Like I remember turning it up and you could see this is the first time in my life I could drink and see the soda going down as I drank it.

• 1:44:28Speaker 01

Yeah, I do. We buy a lot. I don't, people, I don't think cans were, I think bottle, two liter soda bottle was way more in when I was younger.

• 1:44:38Theo Von?

  Two liters in cups?

• 1:44:39Speaker 01

And yes, and now it's like, I guess environment's cans, but.

• 1:44:43Theo Von?

And I remember one time, uh, they came out with the wide mouth.

• 1:44:47Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:44:48Theo Von?

  Two liter, you remember that?

• 1:44:49Speaker 01

Yeah, and you could pour it.

• 1:44:51Theo Von?

  You could pour faster?

• 1:44:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:44:52Theo Von?

It was like, how much can we even have at once?

• 1:44:54Speaker 01

  Yeah, it was a ton.

• 1:44:56Theo Von?

Ugh, oh, yeah, it was great.

• 1:44:58Speaker 01

  Those were the days.

• 1:44:59Theo Von?

Oh, those were the days, yeah, that wide.

• 1:45:01Speaker 01

I used to drink Diet Mountain Dew, I mean, I would drink it every day.

• 1:45:04Theo Von?

Really? And what were you training for?

• 1:45:08Speaker 01

  Just, I mean.

• 1:45:09Theo Von?

  Just being American, huh?

• 1:45:10Speaker 01

I think just keeping my body where I can, whatever I put in it, it's gonna be able to handle it.

• 1:45:17Theo Von?

  I love that.

• 1:45:18Speaker 01

  You know what I mean?

• 1:45:19Theo Von?

Oh, yeah, well, also the, I mean, you'll get some.

• 1:45:20Speaker 01

I drink that, I could drink in the morning.

• 1:45:22Theo Von?

You drink Diet Mountain Dew in the morning?

• 1:45:24Speaker 01

I, yeah, I can, I, yeah, that, or I'll drink a diet something in the morning.

• 1:45:29Theo Von?

Oh, I'll say, I'll show them. Yeah, I'll show them who's boss right off the gate.

• 1:45:32Speaker 01

Right off the gate, dude. I, I think if I had to give up soda, I think a breakfast soda would be my hardest to give up.

• 1:45:38Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. All right, and shout out to anybody drinking breakfast soda.

• 1:45:41Speaker 01

  Yeah, Colin, Colin Quinn.

• 1:45:44Theo Von?

  He drinks it?

• 1:45:44Speaker 01

He drinks Diet Coca-Cola in the morning, too, yeah.

• 1:45:47Theo Von?

Oh, he's a breakfast soda drinker. Um, dude, did you know, did you know Mountain Dew started in Tennessee?

• 1:45:53Speaker 01

Uh, I think so, but I don't know, you know? I think I do that.

• 1:45:58Theo Von?

  Knoxville?

• 1:45:59Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Smoky Mountains is where you put it.

• 1:46:02Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 1:46:02Speaker 01

  I love that old logo.

• 1:46:04Theo Von?

Oh, yeah, let me see that logo.

• 1:46:05Speaker 01

  Great old logo.

• 1:46:06Theo Von?

Mountain Dew, oh, I never saw that. That throwback, that's beautiful. All right, last one. I feel like Diet Dew is real big in the trades world. You'll see it a lot of times. Electricians, comedians, right?

• 1:46:19Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:46:19Theo Von?

You said yourself you were a morning drinker. Plumbers, roadkill guys, right? If you look in the back of the truck, you see 11 of those empty Diet Dew bottles or whatever. They're quietly like the backbone of America, these Diet Dew drinkers. It's the summer, you're driving with your windows down, and there's a breeze, and it only smells a little bit like maybe a landfill you're passing by, or just, and it just, it's summertime, right? The windows are down. What song or band are you turning on the radio?

• 1:46:46Speaker 01

Are you drinking Diet Mountain Dew?

• 1:46:48Theo Von?

Yeah, you can be if you want. I'll have one with you.

• 1:46:50Speaker 01

Yeah. You know, maybe some country.

• 1:46:56Speaker 01

  Toby Keith.

• 1:46:57Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:46:58Speaker 01

  You know?

• 1:46:59Theo Von?

  Yeah, I know.

• 1:47:04Theo Von?

You know, talking about that song?

• 1:47:05Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:47:05Theo Von?

Yeah, I agree, man. I'll enjoy that with you, man.

• 1:47:08Speaker 01

  Have a nice drive.

• 1:47:09Theo Von?

Um, all right. Thank you so much, dude.

• 1:47:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:47:12Theo Von?

I think it's been good. I love learning about Nate Land, man. I think I understand it a lot better.

• 1:47:16Speaker 01

Yeah. Yeah, no, people don't, yeah, I mean, it was, I think people are, I mean, it's crazy, dude. It's crazy to build a theme park. I think it's crazy every time I think about it. I think about it like, you know, where I'm like, what am I doing?

• 1:47:29Theo Von?

Yeah, was there a moment, take me through some of this, right? Was there a moment like, cause sometimes you feel like you get to different places in like your career and in your life. I think a lot of people go through like, you know, they call them midlife crisis, quarter life crisis. You'll see like a fifth grader going through like a fifth grader life crisis they have now on TikTok or whatever.

• 1:47:46Speaker 01

They, in fifth grade, they do?

• 1:47:48Theo Von?

Yeah, now that's a thing or whatever. It's like, all right. But do you like?

• 1:47:52Speaker 01

Did you graduate, I went to, my daughter graduated eighth grade yesterday. Yeah, and I went to that. Did you, I don't, I did not have an eighth grade graduation.

• 1:47:59Theo Von?

  We had one.

• 1:47:59Speaker 01

  Really?

• 1:48:00Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:48:00Speaker 01

I think they told us to get out. And that was it.

• 1:48:05Theo Von?

Dude, remember when school let out?

• 1:48:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:48:08Theo Von?

God, that day, cause you'd look so forward to, but then you had no, there was nothing to do.

• 1:48:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:48:14Theo Von?

You would lay there all summer and just drool in the middle of your living room?

• 1:48:17Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:48:18Theo Von?

And wait for your mom to get home, even though you couldn't, you couldn't wait for her to leave, but you couldn't wait for her to get home?

• 1:48:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:48:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:48:26Theo Von?

  God.

• 1:48:26Speaker 01

Yeah, today was my daughter's first, her start of summer, but anyway.

• 1:48:31Theo Von?

What do y'all have planned for the summer together? Do y'all, is it some things you guys are gonna do?

• 1:48:34Speaker 01

Uh, I don't know. She, uh, like she rides horse, she loves horse riding and all this, so she'll, she'll do a ton of that. And that's what her summer ends up becoming, a lot of like going out. We, it, it's at a, we have, uh, she goes to this stable that's run by this great, this, uh, family. And so she goes there and I mean, she'll be up there all day.

• 1:48:56Theo Von?

  Hmm.

• 1:48:57Speaker 01

  She loves it.

• 1:48:58Theo Von?

  That's nice.

• 1:48:59Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's nice.

• 1:49:00Theo Von?

You get out there and ride with her sometimes?

• 1:49:01Speaker 01

I have, not a ton, but I have.

• 1:49:03Theo Von?

Are you getting better at it, or is it tough for you?

• 1:49:05Speaker 01

Nah, I've not done enough to get better. It's a lot. I mean, it's a, it's a lot. Getting on horses is a lot. I mean, you know, but she does, she, you know, to tack a horse and put the, everything on it, it's a whole, whole thing.

• 1:49:17Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:49:17Speaker 01

But, yeah, I definitely plan on getting out there. I mean, last time I tried, it was like kinda colder. But now that we're in the summer and I'll try to, you know, go on some trail rides with her.

• 1:49:28Theo Von?

Hey, man. That'd be a blast, dude.

• 1:49:30Speaker 01

But you're saying something about Nate Land, like the...

• 1:49:32Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anything else you can tell me about Nate Land, kinda before we leave?

• 1:49:35Speaker 01

Well, it's, it's like the idea, the hard part is, uh...

• 1:49:38Theo Von?

Oh, I was saying, thank you so much for, just for explaining to me what it was like, like what some of the thought processes are.

• 1:49:43Speaker 01

And then I'm worried about doing.

• 1:49:44Theo Von?

Yeah, and then you're worried about doing it, cause yeah, I was saying, you get to certain points in your career where you're like, well, now what? Like I just got done with my special, like I'd been touring for the past like, really 20 years I've been touring, right? Like, I was touring 26 weekends a year, like, because I could sell tickets bef, like, early, because I've been on TV already, but it's like, I didn't have any comedy. But so I, it's just been, this is like the first time in my life, it's like the second week of it.

• 1:50:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:50:08Theo Von?

And it's like, yeah, I don't know what to do, kind of.

• 1:50:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:50:11Theo Von?

And it's kind of like, interesting. And my first thought is... Just go back out on tour, like figure out and go back out. And maybe that is what it'll be what I'll do, like, you know, get a new hour and go out. But it's, but do you get to parts in your career where you're like, in your life, right? Where you're like, well, now what do I do? And then what happened with this where you're like, okay, this is like a feasible, real thing that I can take on. And maybe you already answered that for me, sorry.

• 1:50:37Speaker 01

No, well, I would say, you know, the hard, I think the hard part when you want to do something like this, it's so weird. And it's so different of a thing that you want to go do. So you do get a lot of people just being like, why? Why are you doing this? What do you want like, you know, if you're calling it Nate Land, you're like, why are you calling it? You get a call after you, you get all this kind of stuff like that. And I think that's the hardest part is just kind of sit and wade through those kind of things and not let you, because it is crazy. But I, I know what I'm doing it for the right reason and I just got to believe that, you know, I'm doing it for the right reason. And so you just got to sit and just kind of like, you know, it feels like it's kind of a joke and maybe people think it's a joke.

• 1:51:19Speaker 01

And I understand that it could be a joke, but it's like, what if I do build a theme park, dude? Like, what if I do it? Like, that's crazy. You know, I'm like, I don't come from any world where I should be building a theme park.

• 1:51:31Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:51:32Speaker 01

Like I'm from Old Hickory. There's, uh, there's nowhere in my growth of a child to high school, any of this, that you would ever be at a point. There's nowhere that I should even have the success that I should have had.

• 1:51:47Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:51:48Speaker 01

So then you got to go to where you start going like, well, then I'll just start, I'll just keep going till someone says no. Until they, you know.

• 1:51:55Theo Von?

Well, Mike Lindell had the MyPillow.

• 1:51:57Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:51:58Theo Von?

And you would have saw that probably out of him.

• 1:52:01Speaker 01

  I saw that, yeah.

• 1:52:02Theo Von?

You would, you wouldn't have saw it out of him probably.

• 1:52:03Speaker 01

Oh, no, no, no, no, not at all.

• 1:52:05Theo Von?

  People have all kinds.

• 1:52:06Speaker 01

No, but like, yeah, like that's what I think when, uh, When you have these ideas and you wanna go do something, it's like just, it's like, you gotta just go do it, dude. And the hardest thing is you gotta sometimes, you know, it's gonna be people that you know, that they're the, you know, that sometimes can be your friends or whatever that can be like, what are you doing? Why are you doing this? Those are the ones that kinda come and they, you know, they don't understand it. Some of that is,

• 1:52:34Theo Von?

  Some of it's jealousy?

• 1:52:35Speaker 01

I think some of it is you're leaving people behind. That's like, that thing that you could see, we're getting in shape. I'm not in shape. I wanna get in shape. But it's like, I don't know, if someone, or anything, if someone does something that they can, like you're moving forward and I think they just like go, why? Why are you doing that?

• 1:52:54Theo Von?

Yeah, dude, well, I mean, I even had questions about it. I was curious about it, right? I didn't know. I was like, oh, this is interesting, but I just heard rumors, right? And I was like, yeah, the name had popped into my head, like, oh, why would he choose that? What's going on, right?

• 1:53:08Speaker 01

I choose it because I didn't, again, like,

• 1:53:10Theo Von?

  Well, now I get it.

• 1:53:10Speaker 01

  To trust it.

• 1:53:11Theo Von?

Oh, dude, after talking to you, like,

• 1:53:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:53:13Theo Von?

I get exactly where it is, you know?

• 1:53:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:53:15Theo Von?

And it is weird why sometimes our brains will jump to like, I think some of it is probably a little bit of jealousy, to be honest, or a little bit of like, wow, he's brave enough to do that. And I don't even know if some of that's jealousy, maybe a little bit. I'm not talking exactly about me, really, but I'm just talking like, it's interesting, man. But then, like you say, nothing happens unless somebody does it.

• 1:53:37Speaker 01

No one's, yeah, no one wants to, no one wants to do stuff.

• 1:53:41Theo Von?

And look at Walt Disney. It was, he had both of his names in it.

• 1:53:44Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. He went heavy.

• 1:53:46Theo Von?

Yeah, he went all the way in, dude.

• 1:53:49Speaker 01

But you go see these guys, like, people are stuck where they, they see stuff get built and people have these ideas and they think, well, you can't do it again. You're like, why can't you do it again?

• 1:53:57Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:53:57Speaker 01

Why can't you? We had a theme park here. I'm not picking a city that's never had a theme park. Nashville and Houston are the two cities that can sustain a full theme park. I already know all the stuff.

• 1:54:08Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:54:08Speaker 01

I've already done all this stuff. I'm paying. People that know how to do this stuff to do it. I'm not, I'm looking at all of it. I'm not doing anything that I would never, I have a good gut feeling of when I feel overwhelmed or not. And so I can tell when it's like, if I start feeling panicky, like then I'm like, eh, like this may be back off or this or that or whatever. And so I very much believe in, you know, what I'm doing and what I'm supposed to be doing. And it's, you know, you have a mix where you go, like, I don't know if I even have a choice. It's like, it's just, I'm doing.

• 1:54:44Theo Von?

Do you give this, but I'm.

• 1:54:45Speaker 01

  Just doing it.

• 1:54:46Theo Von?

  Somebody's gotta do it.

• 1:54:47Speaker 01

Someone's gotta do it and I'm doing it. And then maybe it's gonna be good, maybe it's not gonna be good, like. Like, what if I don't make it? What if I do make it?

• 1:54:53Theo Von?

Yeah, well, it's the same with making a movie. It's the same with anything. It's like, what, maybe, you know?

• 1:54:56Speaker 01

You always think, and anybody that says no, you're like, what does it matter? What does it matter if I, who cares?

• 1:55:01Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:55:02Speaker 01

  I'm not, I don't, I don't want anything from you.

• 1:55:04Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:55:05Speaker 01

I don't want anything from, I want people that either buy into what I'm trying to do or, or just don't.

• 1:55:13Theo Von?

Yeah, that's the same way I feel about, even if it's like trying to ask out a gal or do something like that. It's like, when I lay there at the end of it all, I wanna be like, man, I tried this, I tried that. I wanna smile and think about the things that I tried.

• 1:55:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:55:26Theo Von?

  You know?

• 1:55:26Speaker 01

And you gotta think too with comedians, look at the success you get where just you're talking. We're just talking. We don't have movie, we don't have a music behind us, we don't have, that's just us talking.

• 1:55:39Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:55:40Speaker 01

So like, if you start, that's why you think about the movies where you're like, yeah, if you go put a movie behind, you know, not that everything's gonna work or whatever. You're like, it's the most purest art form. So if you can get to a high level of just.

• 1:55:53Theo Von?

  Oh, movie's scary.

• 1:55:54Speaker 01

  Trade, straight up that.

• 1:55:55Theo Von?

Well, movie's scary because you don't know if it's how it's gonna be.

• 1:56:00Speaker 01

  I know, it's too long.

• 1:56:00Theo Von?

Until the day of, dude. And that's very nerve wracking. And I'll say this, dude, we made some mistakes for sure.

• 1:56:09Theo Von?

I'd never watched the movie with an audience until I sat in there and watched it at the premiere.

• 1:56:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:56:14Theo Von?

And that was bizarre dude, cuz you're almost like, I'd watch it on my computer a bunch at home like when I'm editing and putting in notes. But then you're like, it almost felt like, it sounds crazy to say dude, like I was watching like, something I wasn't supposed to be watching with other people. It's almost like watching porno or whatever cuz you're like,

• 1:56:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:56:34Theo Von?

I should, this is something you watch by yourself and suddenly I realized as it starts, I'm like, whoa.

• 1:56:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:56:40Theo Von?

I've watched this already? This is something I was supposed to watch by myself?

• 1:56:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:56:43Theo Von?

I don't think this is for mass consumption. So that was so frickin' harrowing dude.

• 1:56:48Speaker 01

We did a premiere. It is very, it's very weird to watch yourself and you're, you're like, ah, I should have done that or I should have done the, you know.

• 1:56:57Theo Von?

Yeah, or just, yeah, I mean, but to just do it like.

• 1:56:59Speaker 01

Like standup, you're almost, like, I don't watch my standup or I'll watch it maybe once, but it's like, you've done it so much that I think maybe you're kinda used to it. But like, yeah, in a movie, you're like, you just feel like, you feel like everybody else is like a real actor. And you're like, yeah, I don't know what I'm doing.

• 1:57:15Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:57:15Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's crazy.

• 1:57:16Theo Von?

Oh, the immense feeling of, I don't know what I'm doing.

• 1:57:19Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:57:19Theo Von?

You know? Um, but, well dude, for somebody that doesn't know what they're doing, man, you're doing a really great job of it.

• 1:57:26Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 1:57:27Theo Von?

And thank you, bro. And, um, oh, and will the theme park, will the rides be for all ages or is the rides even just for like little children?

• 1:57:34Speaker 01

No, no, it's a, all, a full, we have fun, big rides, kid part, like every, it's like a regular theme park.

• 1:57:44Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:57:45Speaker 01

So it's gonna be, and you know, shows and stuff like that. It'll be, it'll be the, the real deal.

• 1:57:52Theo Von?

  I love it.

• 1:57:53Speaker 01

Uh, so it'll be, yeah, everybody, everybody can come out.

• 1:57:56Theo Von?

Amen. Um, Nate Bargatze, the movie opens up this week, May 29th in theaters, in 3,300 theaters. That's what we found out. Uh, the breadwinner, Nate Bargatze, Manny Moore. Um, a supermom lands a shark tank deal, switching roles with her breadwinner husband. He struggles to adapt as a stay-at-home dad to their three daughters.

• 1:58:17Speaker 01

And it's not like a dumb dad. Everybody gets crazy about being a dumb dad thing. It's not a dumb dad thing. It's a. It's, you know, he ends up taking the dead era and it's a sweet, sweet, funny, uh, cute movie. And again, something that we take everybody out to. And that's all. And it's the first one, so see where we go from here.

• 1:58:37Theo Von?

Amen, man. Congratulations, bro. Thanks for your time, dude, and congrats on everything, man.

• 1:58:41Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 1:58:41Theo Von?

  Yep.

• 1:58:42Speaker 01

  Yeah, brother.
