Now, more than ever, we need someone on our side. But Rob Whitman? Whitman's votes drove up costs, cut Medicaid, and risked 350,000 Virginians' healthcare to pay for tax breaks for himself and his donors. He's not on our side. Shannon Taylor will fight corruption, cut taxes, and bring down costs. This November, vote for Shannon Taylor. She's for us. Paid for by HMP, the House Majority PAC dot com. • 1:03Doug DeMuro?

Hello and welcome to this car pod! I'm Filippo.

• 1:08Speaker 03

  I'm Nick.

• 1:08Doug DeMuro?

Nick's filling in here because Kennon's out of town for Thanksgiving. The podcast is a day late. Thanksgiving screwed up everything. It's a big deal. Everything. But the biggest deal of all, Filippo, you want to tell them? After months of consideration. Yeah. Two months ago, Doug bought a 993 Turbo. I bought a 993 Turbo. It happened a while ago. Okay? I've been on the pod joking, "Oh, I want a nine." It actually, I'd already gotten one. And some interesting things have happened, I realized, from this. Please. The people became irate that I wouldn't consider their 993 Turbo. Like, I was, I was looking at this. I could see that. I was in my, if you have a big Instagram account, you don't, you get DMs from people

• 1:50Doug DeMuro?

you follow, but then there's like a section of people that if you don't follow them, it goes into some, yeah, okay, requests, because they don't want people sending weird stuff to celebrities. Not that I'm one, but Instagram. Okay, so I go into the, that request folder a couple, I never check that folder, ever. That's how you get invitations to review the Aspark Owl.

• 2:08Speaker 03

You get cool stuff in that.

• 2:09Doug DeMuro?

I go into that folder the other day, there's a guy who's been hammering me for weeks. "Why will, okay, here's my 993 Turbo. Why will you not consider? Why have you not replied to me? Why have you not bought my 993 Turbo?" I'm like, "Oh my God! Jesus!"

• 2:25Doug DeMuro?

So I bought a 993 Turbo. How is it? It's good. Yep. What color is it? Now, I do want to say something. I want to say something. Go to the shot that shows just them. I want to say something. This is, you guys could have known that I bought my 993 Turbo. Go get that license plate. The day I bought the car, which I think was eight weeks ago, I took the, this was the original license plate on the car and I put it on the pod set. And if anybody had bothered to do a VIN wiki. Wow. Is that how VIN wiki works? I don't really know.

• 2:55Speaker 04

  I don't, I think it's VIN based.

• 2:57Doug DeMuro?

Well, you, but you can usually put a plate in and it turns into a VIN. You would have known, you would have returned to a 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo and you'd have said, hmm. Fascinating. Yeah. It was a hidden trick. And from now on, anytime we buy a car, we'll put a hidden trick somewhere in the podcast set. I'm not agreeing to this. Yeah, because you're never gonna buy a car, don't you?

• 3:21Doug DeMuro?

How many miles have you done in your 993 Turbo? I bought the car, car has had 58.5 or something when I bought it. I'm at like 16 now. It's been like 1500 miles. I'm taking it to Ferris on Monday. Whoa. It's been to LA five times. That'll be six. I love it. I love using it for, uh, for regular driving. I'm surprised how much I missed having a sports car that isn't quite so attention, attention grabbing and just a lot. Like even the 4GT, which is sort of the most usable sports car I have, it's a lot. It's low, it's, it's, it's, it's rough, you know, riding. People freak out when they see it at gas stations. It's nice to have a car that literally nobody cares about or pays attention to, including Nick.

• 4:00Speaker 04

Other than Porsche files who I'm sure lose it. No one ever spotted you in the two months you've been driving this thing around? I saw you once on the freeway, but like, and you're pretty, I mean, you got no tint and you're a big guy. Like it's very clearly you.

• 4:11Doug DeMuro?

I actually took it to a couple of car events and obviously people there then kind of knew who I, because I'm, you know, I've driven the car and I'm at, with my fellow journalists, some of whom I actually personally know. I wasn't trying to conceal it, uh, but no, I guess not. It never looked was a thing.

• 4:25Speaker 04

That's wild. That, that shows you how below the radar it really is.

• 4:27Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Literally nobody cares about this car, except if you go on Renlist, there are people who really. Really care about this car and I'm sure they're gonna hate me dearly for owning one. Every time I buy a car, it's like Doug bought one. He's not a real enthusiast of the car. And it's like, alright.

• 4:43Speaker 04

Well, I think Run List might change their mind and realize you are a Porsche guy. You are one of them.

• 4:48Doug DeMuro?

  You are one of them.

• 4:49Speaker 04

And they're gonna give you like a special badge or like font color option on Run List that'll tell everyone you're an OG.

• 4:54Doug DeMuro?

I'm not a Porsche guy. Hey, how many Porsches do you own now? Well, I've had the same number of Porsches as Nissans. Do you consider me a Nissan guy? Sure. That cannot factually be accurate. I had a Skyline GTR R32. I had a S Cargo Snail. And I had a Cube. How many Porsche? And I've had three Porsches. Corporate cars. For years, years ago, I had a 996 Twin Turbo for four months. And then the Carrera GT and now this, a 993 Twin Turbo. I see you remember you crashing a Panamera into a tree. I crashed a 997 into a tree and I crashed a Panamera into a guy in a 98 Ford Explorer, actually. So are you counting those or no? They were company cars. Oh, yeah. I also had-

• 5:33Speaker 04

This loophole that's used a lot.

• 5:35Doug DeMuro?

It wasn't, listen, if I had worked for, if I had been able to choose any company car at that time, I wouldn't have chosen Porsche.

• 5:42Speaker 04

Whistling Diesel tried to use the company car argument with no success, so I think you need to save it.

• 5:48Doug DeMuro?

Speaking of, guess what I did at the dealership when I bought this car? Dropped 15 Gs in sales tax. Sean was sitting with me when I did it, right there at the dealership. And I gotta tell you something. I was thinking about this. Yeah. We went, me and Sean went up. Go to the next picture. Show Sean. Oh, God. There it is. There's me and Sean. It's bad color G-Wagon next to my great color 911. Massively different colors, agreed? And Sean drove me up there. And you know what I realized? We, and by we, I mean the two of us and other people who are our friends, some of whom appear on some of our content. Sure. Have gone to enormous lengths over a long period of time, since we've had cars. Yeah. To shadily get cars registered, to avoid smog, to avoid sales tax, to avoid, right, like-

• 6:33Speaker 04

  I don't know what you're talking about.

• 6:34Doug DeMuro?

  No, no, no.

• 6:35Speaker 04

The guy with the Land Rover shirt has never taken any shortcuts.

• 6:40Doug DeMuro?

  But-

• 6:42Doug DeMuro?

There was something beautiful about going to the dealer.

• 6:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:46Doug DeMuro?

Paying for a local car, the plates came in the mail, the sale, the car was serviced. Like so many cars I buy that are neglected and are in some weird registration state. And I then have to figure all this stuff out and it was so nice. I came home at 2:00 PM this day, the car was in the garage and I haven't had to do a thing. And I'm like, oh my God, is this what it's like when people buy cars?

• 7:10Speaker 03

What, why did the plate not stay on it?

• 7:12Doug DeMuro?

Because the, the only one plate was with the car and, and they didn't want to sell a car with only one plate. And it was the front, so.

• 7:18Speaker 04

I agree with, I haven't bought a car from a dealer in forever.

• 7:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 7:21Speaker 04

However, don't you feel like they just concentrate all of the pain in four hours? Like you sit there and you're like, I gotta talk to the finance manager, then talk about floor mats. So then like, like they're gonna pull a credit check and you're like, I'm, I don't need to do this.

• 7:34Doug DeMuro?

It did take an unusually long time considering I showed up with a personal, just to buy the car, the personal check. However, um, it was amazing. It was so nice. I bought this car from Porsche Santa Clarita, which is up north of LA. And it was just so nice to be able to do this. I have, I, so many of them, I, I agree that it's a painful four hours. But the experience that I typically have is, I'm in the Countach. Okay, I gotta get it over the border. I gotta pay duty, right? Cause it was in Canada.

• 7:57Speaker 03

  Right.

• 7:57Doug DeMuro?

I, I have to figure out who will accept a Canadian registration, cause Canada doesn't do titles. Who will accept a Canadian registration, uh, for a US title? Then you gotta figure out, okay, smog, how are we gonna figure out emissions? How are we gonna figure, and then it's gotta go and get serviced. And guess what? The guy who services Countach is not two minutes away at the Porsche dealer. He's in Ohio. So then the car goes there.

• 8:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 8:18Doug DeMuro?

And it's like all that legwork and this, oh my God, I just bought a car and it was, what an amazing experience. And that's that. Flip, are you excited?

• 8:29Speaker 03

I'm excited. I do have a question. The wheel gap, significant, right? Are you gonna lower it, slam it? Yeah, European, European ride height.

• 8:37Doug DeMuro?

All right. This is my most controversial take ever. The, the renless community. If you're into these cars, people will be astonished by the take. I think the US ride height on 993 turbos looks better. It's enormously tall. The Euro cars were enormously lower and it's an enormously tall situation. And on Renless, they refer to it as the SUV ride height. However, my personal belief is that the car has significant overhangs. I mean, they're kind of laughable relative to the wheelbase, actually. And when you lower the car, when you lower the car, it really emphasizes the edges because when you raise the car, it has sort of a more complete overall profile.

• 9:19Doug DeMuro?

But when you lower the car, you kind of pull visually, you pull the whole car, stretch it out. And I think it looks silly, like lowered. Ultimately, they added bodywork over the years to the original 911, but they didn't add wheelbase. And so it looks a little strange from some angles, but it drives great and I love using it. And I've got car seats in it and we cut the leather.

• 9:39Speaker 04

Wow. Well, we're excited that you have it.

• 9:41Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, great. Truly.

• 9:42Speaker 04

  Any other modifications planned?

• 9:45Doug DeMuro?

I put in the Porsche radiator. Porsche has this CarPlay radiator.

• 9:48Speaker 04

  Yep, yep. Those are cool.

• 9:49Doug DeMuro?

And that's it. That's all I'm gonna do.

• 9:53Speaker 04

It's like a three inches tall.

• 9:54Doug DeMuro?

It's the smallest screen. Have you seen CarPlay?

• 9:57Speaker 04

  No.

• 9:57Doug DeMuro?

  It's laughable.

• 9:58Speaker 04

But I can picture where it would.

• 9:59Doug DeMuro?

My wife gets it. She's like, this is the smallest screen I've ever seen in my entire. You can't even read the time. Like when I'm looking at it, it's giving it directions. And I'm like, you have to like lean over like.

• 10:09Speaker 04

Interesting. Well, that's why you gotta get the Porsche watch, you know?

• 10:12Doug DeMuro?

  Right.

• 10:12Speaker 04

Then you don't need the time.

• 10:13Doug DeMuro?

  I'm a Porsche guy now.

• 10:14Speaker 04

I mean, I think you all know.

• 10:15Doug DeMuro?

Are you not? Am I a Nissan guy?

• 10:17Speaker 04

It quacks like a duck and it looks like a duck.

• 10:19Speaker 03

How many Nissans do you own right now?

• 10:21Doug DeMuro?

Well, I don't own any, but how many?

• 10:22Speaker 03

How many Porsches do you own right now?

• 10:26Speaker 04

Exactly. All right. Move on to our next news story.

• 10:28Doug DeMuro?

Oh, this thing. Genesis comes out with this, which is a concept car called the wingback. Nick, what is an actual wingback?

• 10:37Speaker 04

The Recaro European option seats with the, the nice wings on the back, sort of where the seat belts go through, but.

• 10:43Doug DeMuro?

  For the, for the.

• 10:44Speaker 04

Well, I like them for the B7 RS4, but they came in a lot of great Audi VW products.

• 10:48Doug DeMuro?

That's a wingback. Okay. Genesis has stolen the name, but they've made a pretty cool car out of it.

• 10:54Speaker 04

  Yeah, we'll allow it.

• 10:55Doug DeMuro?

  G90 station wagon.

• 10:57Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 10:57Doug DeMuro?

Which is odd because the G90 is a full-size car, so it'd be like making. An S-Class station wagon. Like, it's a little bit unusual. This is not a market segment that the automakers are participating in, really.

• 11:08Speaker 04

And if you look at like the Taycan cross Tercimo or the Panamera cross.

• 11:11Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, that's true.

• 11:12Speaker 04

Whatever. Like, it's not doing that well. I guess the RS6 as well. E63 does okay.

• 11:17Doug DeMuro?

Both of those, though, are the mid-sized car.

• 11:18Speaker 04

The new M5. Yeah, I just like, launching a wagon is gonna, it's a tough commercial proposition.

• 11:24Doug DeMuro?

Clearly, though, and by the way, I don't think this is gonna make production. I'd be surprised.

• 11:28Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 11:28Doug DeMuro?

Move on to the next story. They've also announced this, which is called what?

• 11:33Speaker 03

So Genesis is releasing, and finally, after talking about it for quite a while, doing first drives of the Magma GV60. So the GV60 is their smallest EV. The Magma version is like BMW M or Mercedes AMG. As a part of that, as a part of the first drive of the GV60, they also secretly revealed that G90 wingback and the Magma GT.

• 11:56Doug DeMuro?

Which, by the way, is not an EV.

• 11:58Speaker 03

We don't know. They've said that they haven't decided on powertrain, but Genesis is entering a bunch of racing series. They're gonna be in, so they're gonna be in some other series that I know nothing about.

• 12:07Speaker 04

  We'll be transparent here.

• 12:09Speaker 03

But they have said in interviews, literally this week, that they're planning for Magma GT to be a full line of cars. It is not just a homologation models required for the racing series, that they're not building just 30 of something to homologate it and be eligible to race. They're planning a full lineup. They've compared it, or at least some articles have compared it to the 911 lineup, where there will be multiple stair-step models, some that are like GT3 homologation, and some that are maybe a cabriolet version, or a regular coupe, or whatever. Like, this is gonna be a full onslaught of sporty products from Genesis.

• 12:43Doug DeMuro?

  This is a big deal.

• 12:44Speaker 03

  Huge.

• 12:45Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Because, you know, it's funny. It's funny we knock Honda so much for being conservative, and the Koreans just are not conservative. They're like, okay, Genesis is out. Now we're ready to make a luxury station wagon concept and do a mid-engine car, and we're gonna do all this stuff that, like, other brands probably should have done. We're just gonna do it. The Crater, that concept car that I did, that off-road concept car, same deal. Like, they see the market segment, they go after it, as opposed to the wait-and-see approach that so many brands do. And this thing, I mean, this is a C8 Corvette rival, right? Or an R8 rival.

• 13:16Speaker 03

  Right, or something.

• 13:18Doug DeMuro?

It looks... I mean, it's not like this is a silly concept car with no mirrors.

• 13:22Speaker 03

  No, no.

• 13:23Doug DeMuro?

Like, this, this is looking not unreasonable to go into.

• 13:26Speaker 03

They have a GT3 car, right? They've, they've been doing a bunch of work on that to enter racing series. It makes sense that they need to build some and like this is a great starting point, especially if they plan on expanding that line.

• 13:34Doug DeMuro?

  Because they have to homologate.

• 13:36Speaker 03

They have to homologate a car.

• 13:37Doug DeMuro?

30 or something like that, yeah. We, which even then, by the way, even going GT3 racing is like such a, we're trying to reach this certain market segment that is, you know, a kind of a aspirational for a new luxury brand. Well, here's a cool car to do it.

• 13:51Speaker 03

Hyundai has been speaking very publicly in the last couple of weeks about the fact that for the last couple of quarters or maybe last year or so, they believe that they're the number two most profitable automaker.

• 14:01Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 14:01Speaker 03

After Toyota. Toyota leads the charge on profitability. They've said that they beat out Volkswagen on profitability. It make, Genesis has always been a bit of a question mark. They make cars, they do okay, but they've never really kind of found a brand identity. This would be the start of like, what is Genesis? Maybe it's actually a racing brand.

• 14:17Doug DeMuro?

And certainly getting people interested. You know, these sports cars, and Audi proved it with the RA. And, and some brands have, have failed doing it, like Lexus and the LFA, um, which, which I consider a failure on its face, but it was also a failure to do what they were trying to do, which was get people into dealerships.

• 14:32Speaker 03

Or like Infiniti has tried to go racing and.

• 14:34Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, right. Or go, go to Europe.

• 14:36Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 14:38Doug DeMuro?

But this car, you, you could really see like, if this came out, we'd all be like, damn, wait a minute. Genesis is cool.

• 14:45Speaker 03

  Yes, totally.

• 14:46Doug DeMuro?

And then they come out with that GV90, the big boy.

• 14:49Speaker 03

  The big boy.

• 14:50Doug DeMuro?

  Well.

• 14:50Speaker 03

  Oh, GV90, excuse me.

• 14:51Doug DeMuro?

  The GV90, you've seen it. Yeah. That's like a Range competitor. He's over here, I want a full-size Range, not anymore. GV90. You want a GV90 and a wingback.

• 15:00Speaker 03

I do want a wingback. I want to drive off the road like Tiger Woods.

• 15:03Doug DeMuro?

  That was a GV80.

• 15:04Speaker 03

  I know.

• 15:05Doug DeMuro?

Wow, a Tiger Woods reference. Tiger Woods has had some car incidents.

• 15:08Speaker 04

  I do, I think.

• 15:09Doug DeMuro?

  Curge GT, under.

• 15:10Speaker 04

There's clearly enthusiasts that are helping spur the development line here. And to your point, not only they enter new segments, but they're taking big swings. I mean, even the like Palisade is like, it's pretty gutsy in terms of the styling. This is gutsy. This looks like something Steve Hamilton would get upset that the production has delayed for. Like, it is, it looks like a hyper.

• 15:29Speaker 03

  Car, not a super.

• 15:30Doug DeMuro?

I agree with that. And, and, and the Palisade is guts. You know, Hyundai and Kia both kind of saw this market segment for these boxy vehicles. The other automakers were like, oh, we're gonna maybe try to add a little boxy touch. And Hyundai and Kia were like, we're just gonna do it.

• 15:42Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 15:42Doug DeMuro?

And, and as Toyota and Honda and Nissan have kind of sat on the sidelines, like hoping to maybe do something. Hyundai and Kia have just been like, yeah, I'm just gonna go do it. And it's been incredibly successful. They've had an unbelievably successful 10 years or so.

• 15:56Speaker 03

Yep. And I'm excited for Genesis to kind of develop their own identity, to develop sporty models, to do things that really appeal to enthusiasts. Because going just like a little luxury hasn't really.

• 16:04Doug DeMuro?

That's the one thing that Hyundai, Kia and Genesis have not been able to really get after is enthusiasts. Like there, when I make a list of cars that I want and think about, you know, varied countries and engine sizes. Korean car never comes close.

• 16:17Speaker 03

Like, what cars since 19, there's since 2005 have you cared about?

• 16:20Doug DeMuro?

  Tiburon. God, most.

• 16:23Speaker 03

  That, that make your list.

• 16:24Doug DeMuro?

Well, no, but a lot of performance cars. But in terms of Korean cars, they've never, the Stingar, which I owned and loved, is one of the very, very few. Like they do a great job of, of hitting very successful mainstream products. Like the Telluride and the Palisade and the Tucson and so many others, the, the IONIQ 5. But, but going after enthusiasts is how you build like excitement beyond just like, oh, this is a nice luxury car. That's how we think of Lexus and they sell a lot. But there's never been anybody excited about Lexus. This car changes that.

Yeah, the president, the president of the Genesis brand and the chief creative officer is Luke van der Dunker Volt. Yeah, that, yes, the Merci Alago designer and the Audi A2 designer. Yeah, right. So he is obviously very much a car enthusiast. It makes sense that he's pushing the brand in that direction.

• 18:24Speaker 03

Right. And, and clearly these are really, really, they're very cool cars. I hope they both go into production. I wouldn't be surprised if neither go into production in this form, but we can hope, right? Also a full lineup of I got you. Of things of Genesis or magma GT cars would be incredibly cool. Having a full lineup of nine 11 competitors that span it seems unlikely in the next Yeah, in the short term, but it would be really cool to have somebody else. They're still building out a whole brand though. Remember a full lineup of sports cars is a cool idea, would be cool. BMW makes seven SUVs. Genesis right now has two and a half. Which one are you kind of? The GV60. You don't think it's an SUV? Looks like a hatchback. The Ioniq 5 is a hatchback. You agree?

• 19:08Speaker 03

The EV6 is a hatchback. So GC GV60 by definition is a hatchback. It's the same car. It's just a different style. You know what the thing is about the GV60 that really makes me think it's a hatchback? You can walk up to it with your face and unlock the door. You can't do that in an SUV. And when I think of an SUV, all right.

• 19:25Speaker 03

What do you mean with your face? Like your nose? No, you set up like, you know how your phone has like facial recognition? You gotta watch my GV60 video, dude. Oh, I can't wait. I don't think you should watch a lot of my videos, but that one, you set up facial recognition. I don't even know what the GV60 looks like.

• 19:41Doug DeMuro?

You've seen them. They're around Encinitas.

• 19:42Speaker 04

No, I have not. Oh, I've seen them. Yeah.

• 19:44Doug DeMuro?

You set up facial recognition and then you walk up to the car and look at the door and it unlocks. Anyway, that's why I don't think it's SUV. Give us our next news story because there's a lot of good news. Look at that 993 back there. Beautiful.

• 19:55Speaker 03

We already talked a little bit about how Hyundai somehow going from Tiburon to the second most profitable automaker.

• 19:59Doug DeMuro?

Think about that. Volkswagen, I want to, I want to, I want to underscore one thing here. Volkswagen has been trying to figure out the US market, but also expanding globally for so many years. Hyundai was making this, the Tiburon ended 2004. I mean, what a glow up.

• 20:17Speaker 04

  Yeah, it was rough.

• 20:18Speaker 03

As the owner of a early on South Korean product, the Kia Spectre that I own.

• 20:25Speaker 03

It's incredible to see where they are now. The Kia Spectre was great.

• 20:27Doug DeMuro?

This is like, this is like going from a money shifted TTRS to an SLR.

• 20:32Speaker 03

All right. This is a mini G-Wagon.

• 20:35Speaker 04

  Yeah, it is.

• 20:36Speaker 03

We've known that Mercedes is going to build a small version of the G-Wagon for a while. But finally their actual spy shot of it. It looks like a G-Wagon, but small.

• 20:48Doug DeMuro?

Doesn't it look like a second generation Jeep Liberty?

• 20:53Speaker 03

  Yeah, no, it does.

• 20:54Speaker 04

I was going to say GLB, like it reminds me.

• 20:57Speaker 03

It does look like a GLB.

• 20:58Speaker 04

Sex and the City came back and that was like their halo car.

• 21:01Speaker 03

You're going for second gen, so you're going for the Dodge Nitro version?

• 21:04Doug DeMuro?

You didn't, you don't think it looks like, go back to the, go back to the little G thing.

• 21:07Speaker 04

  But the inside's a little.

• 21:08Doug DeMuro?

Tell me, that dude, that's, I think they just, I think that just is a second gen Jeep Liberty.

• 21:14Speaker 04

It does look like a GLB. I mean, what are you going to do? You're going to get this car, you gotta make it small.

• 21:18Doug DeMuro?

That second gen Jeep Liberty had one of the worst. Can you go to that?

• 21:22Speaker 04

That whole Stellantis lineup then was just like the worst of the.

• 21:26Speaker 03

It wasn't Stellantis that won the record, to be clear.

• 21:27Speaker 04

Okay, it was Jeep Chrysler Dodge.

• 21:33Speaker 03

I like that they're testing two different wheels. That's smart.

• 21:35Doug DeMuro?

That just looks like a regular Mercedes wheel. That wheel is the ugliest wheel I've ever seen in my entire.

• 21:39Speaker 04

The rear door looks really small here, like. This looks small.

• 21:43Speaker 03

It'll be a tight rear seat, certainly.

• 21:45Speaker 04

Like, look at that, look at the like parking meter garbage thing behind it, like. It looks way bigger.

• 21:50Doug DeMuro?

Or a van. What is, this is a mattress? It does, it does look small. Honestly, what it looks to me like is a chimney and it almost looks chimney sized.

• 21:56Speaker 03

I think you can't go that.

• 21:57Doug DeMuro?

Maybe they're upset with chimney body kits. Yeah, maybe they're upset with chimney body kits continuing to steal all their G-Wagon sales.

• 22:05Speaker 03

I have to say, the rear bumper looks chunky.

• 22:07Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, no, I mean, I'm excited to see what they do with it. It just continues kind of the embarrassment of the G-Wagon line.

• 22:14Speaker 03

But that's what the customers want.

• 22:15Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 22:16Speaker 03

Yeah, no, sure. We did not call it embarrassment. We did not.

• 22:19Doug DeMuro?

This G-Wagons are all over LA. This can be all over Riverside. Boom! All right, next story.

• 22:25Speaker 03

  Shout out Riverside.

• 22:28Doug DeMuro?

Okay, this is interesting. It has been announced, and by announced, I mean implied and perhaps leaked, but not actually announced, that Audi is gonna do a G-Wagon rival based on Scout. The only reason I bring this up, and Volkswagen has some massive interest, financial interest in Scout. Maybe they own them, I don't know.

• 22:44Speaker 03

They started them. They're owned by Volkswagen entirely.

• 22:47Doug DeMuro?

They started them. Uh-uh. Scout, we remember when Scout started.

• 22:50Speaker 03

  They purchased it.

• 22:51Doug DeMuro?

  America!

• 22:51Speaker 03

They purchased it. I will say, by the way, the piece you haven't mentioned is Scout will build this model.

• 22:56Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 22:56Speaker 03

  It's not just co-developed by.

• 22:58Doug DeMuro?

The only reason I'm bringing this up, I don't care about any of that, because to me, it's all pie-in-the-sky BS. This is 2028 model year stuff. It doesn't, it doesn't... The reason I bring it up is because on this very podcast, the greatest automotive podcast in San Diego, we predicted that this would happen. Audi announced a few months ago, "Oh, we're thinking about a G-Wagon rival." And we said, "Well, you know, it's interesting, because they have Scout. I wonder if they'll match them up." And now here we are.

• 23:26Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 23:27Doug DeMuro?

If you want to get your forward-thinking, bleeding-edge automotive news, this is the pot. And also, we shill for that auction website. What is it? CarsAndBids.com.

• 23:40Doug DeMuro?

We got all sorts of stuff going on here.

• 23:42Speaker 03

By the way, a few creators got a chat, did some videos with the Scout prototypes. They look really cool.

• 23:47Doug DeMuro?

Are you implying that one of them should have been me?

• 23:49Speaker 03

Well, I mean, going back to Hoovy, the conversation with Hoovy. No, but Forrest Auto Reviews, who we obviously love, did like a bunch of walkarounds of them.

• 23:56Doug DeMuro?

Forrest is with the Scout? He's hanging out with the Scout?

• 23:58Speaker 03

I was a little jealous. I sent it to Sean, our producer, a little mad.

• 24:00Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, it's okay now. Leepo needs to go to this.

• 24:02Speaker 03

It looks really cool, and I think it'll be a really well-received product.

• 24:06Doug DeMuro?

I agree, because the Scout looks really cool. And honestly, if this is all they do, it's a pretty appealing vehicle. Would you rather this or the Lincoln Bronco? Both.

• 24:16Speaker 04

I'm implying you have to choose.

• 24:18Doug DeMuro?

  I don't have to choose.

• 24:19Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 24:20Doug DeMuro?

This will be an EV, the Lincoln Bronco would be a

• 24:23Speaker 03

  Ranger center EV.

• 24:24Doug DeMuro?

  Here's what I want.

• 24:25Speaker 03

  Here's what I want.

• 24:27Doug DeMuro?

  I want a Lincoln Bronc.

• 24:29Speaker 05

• 24:58Doug DeMuro?

  Go.

• 24:58Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 24:59Speaker 03

  With a V8.

• 25:02Speaker 04

  Everyone wants a V8. Everyone wants a full-size range.

• 25:06Speaker 03

I have a question for you. What do you think the Seat version of Audi's luxury SUV will be called?

• 25:11Doug DeMuro?

There will not be one. And the reason for that is that none of these cars are allowed in Europe. And you're thinking, what is the reason? They're electric. Europe loves electric. I don't know, but Europe will come up with some reason why these cars are banned.

• 25:21Speaker 03

Nick, are you familiar with the Seat XAO?

• 25:23Doug DeMuro?

  I am.

• 25:24Speaker 03

Yeah. That I'm expecting this to continue.

• 25:27Speaker 04

It was, I mean, it was the B7 Audi.

• 25:29Doug DeMuro?

With a slightly different front end.

• 25:31Speaker 04

Aster, a one out of production.

• 25:32Doug DeMuro?

You still see them in Spain.

• 25:33Speaker 03

  You see them?

• 25:34Doug DeMuro?

Oh, you go to Spain, you see every Seat that's ever existed, including stuff from like the 70s.

• 25:39Doug DeMuro?

And they are attractive. And I actually think you should consider importing one. You know what would be a real play? Import a Seat XAO, but then swap in an RS4 drivetrain. You just blow the minds of every Volkswagen Group person.

• 25:51Speaker 03

  Not legal yet, but soon.

• 25:52Speaker 04

The RS4 is so much better looking though.

• 25:54Doug DeMuro?

You think so? Go back to it. Go back to the XAO. You don't like that?

• 25:58Speaker 04

  Compared to an RS4?

• 25:59Doug DeMuro?

  The B7.

• 26:00Speaker 04

  Compared to an A4, maybe.

• 26:01Doug DeMuro?

I'm going to go on record and say the following thing. The B7 is one of the most attractive

• 26:05Speaker 04

  Agreed.

• 26:05Doug DeMuro?

  Luxury cars ever built.

• 26:07Speaker 04

That's why I've had three of them and I plan to get a fourth.

• 26:09Doug DeMuro?

I didn't know there even was a sedan. I truly didn't know that. I've only ever seen this thing.

• 26:13Speaker 03

  It was a sedan.

• 26:13Doug DeMuro?

The sedan got that. The sedan doesn't look as good.

• 26:15Speaker 03

  No.

• 26:16Speaker 04

  Like a Mercury. Mercury.

• 26:18Doug DeMuro?

Go to, go to, pull up a B7A4.

• 26:20Speaker 04

Seat was kind of the Mercury of the, the gang, wasn't it?

• 26:23Doug DeMuro?

No, they were supposed to be like sporty and fun. They're still doing it. Was. They're still around.

• 26:27Speaker 03

  We're gonna go to around.

• 26:28Doug DeMuro?

Okay, yeah, yeah. We, we sell B7A4?

• 26:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:30Doug DeMuro?

Oh my God, only convertibles. Get out of the convertible.

• 26:32Speaker 03

No, no, we've, we've sold them.

• 26:34Doug DeMuro?

Look at that. Look at that Avon. Let's look at an Avon.

• 26:35Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 26:36Doug DeMuro?

  These are great looking cars.

• 26:37Speaker 04

  S-line wheels.

• 26:38Doug DeMuro?

  These were great looking.

• 26:39Speaker 04

  That's an A, yeah.

• 26:40Doug DeMuro?

Okay, move on to our next news story, please.

• 26:42Speaker 03

  All right, let's.

• 26:43Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, God.

• 26:44Speaker 03

  All right.

• 26:44Doug DeMuro?

  This is a Nissan Xterra.

• 26:46Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:46Doug DeMuro?

  You're familiar.

• 26:47Speaker 03

Yeah. Uh, we've known for a while that Nissan is planning on building a new version of the Xterra. Uh, in an interview this, this past week, the person in charge of the project said that they know they need to keep it affordable and simple and rugged. So they've said that they, they're targeting under $40,000. Uh, they're not planning on doing any real luxuries or like crazy features. It's intended to be simple.

• 27:09Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 27:09Speaker 03

Uh, two-speed transfer case, off-road ready, modification ready. They've made pretty clear that they're building it, knowing that there will be lift kits, et cetera, that they may produce themselves.

• 27:17Doug DeMuro?

  Uh huh.

• 27:18Speaker 03

Uh, but it'll be like a real body on frame, simple as you can. The Pathfinder will also, uh, be body on frame in future generations. Uh, and will probably be a little bit larger and maybe a little bit more luxurious, which was always the case with the Xterra Pathfinder car.

• 27:32Doug DeMuro?

All right, I'm gonna just tell you right now what it's gonna be.

• 27:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 27:35Doug DeMuro?

The Frontier starts at 32, the Tacoma starts at 31.6. The 4Runner starts at 41.3.

• 27:43Speaker 03

  It's gonna start at 39.999.

• 27:45Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, because the difference between the Frontier and the Tacoma is the Frontier no longer has a four-cylinder, right? This is, the Frontier is V6 only, so the Frontier is a little more expensive base, but

• 27:53Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 27:53Doug DeMuro?

The Tacoma is, is a worse, so you, you get, they're gonna undercut the 4Runner and base it on the Frontier, and that's the way that they should do it. And it's probably the way they should have been doing it for the last 15 years.

• 28:05Speaker 03

Yep. But it's, I'm glad they're finally understanding their audience.

• 28:10Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 28:10Speaker 03

  Maybe.

• 28:10Doug DeMuro?

You agree that leaving the, uh, we've said it on the pod many times, and I'm gonna say it again, because I really like to underscore it. You agree that not having the Xterra in the product lineup for the last 15 years is the single largest product planning mistake in the entire car industry of our lifetimes?

• 28:23Speaker 03

No, that's a really high bar.

• 28:24Doug DeMuro?

What you got then? What you got? Volt going non-EV? That's a tough one.

• 28:29Speaker 03

The BZ4X being the only EV that the most profitable manufacturer offers.

• 28:33Doug DeMuro?

We got a good question about that this week. Someone wrote in a question and said, wasn't the BZ4X the right decision? Because now the market has totally turned on EVs and Toyota basically put no development effort into it.

• 28:43Speaker 03

Maybe you're not wrong. Honda's made some errors.

• 28:47Speaker 04

Jaguar's current lineup, all of it, or lack thereof, is a pretty bad one.

• 28:51Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but what could they have done better?

• 28:52Speaker 04

Chevy not having a Raptor version of everything right out the gate and sleeping on that.

• 28:56Doug DeMuro?

To this day, the Trail Boss?

• 28:57Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 28:58Doug DeMuro?

  The Trail Metal Management.

• 29:01Doug DeMuro?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but like the Raptor is what the, the Raptor kicks butt.

• 29:07Speaker 03

By the way, one more off-road story. Hyundai, because we were talking about them earlier, has XRT as a brand.

• 29:13Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 29:13Speaker 03

Like, the IONIQ 5 XRT is the, like, off-road version.

• 29:15Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 29:16Speaker 03

They've also committed to going way deeper on XRT.

• 29:18Doug DeMuro?

  Well, yeah.

• 29:19Speaker 03

They've, I think they've said 100 times more off-road ready than their current lineup.

• 29:24Doug DeMuro?

Let me tell you something. Hyundai coming out with that Crater concept car, announcing they're building a body-on-frame truck and saying they're gonna go deeper on XRT. We were just talking about how Hyundai doesn't make talk. Hyundai does.

• 29:36Speaker 03

  They do.

• 29:36Doug DeMuro?

They're gonna do. Five years from now, Hyundai will have real off-road products.

• 29:41Speaker 04

And Nissan might not be here.

• 29:42Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 29:43Speaker 04

Your, your Sunday video on Infiniti, I thought, I've, I've heard that argument from other people, including you on this pod, but that put it all together in a way that was like, holy crap, they are screwed.

• 29:52Doug DeMuro?

That like, even if they were building good cars, the brand is so damaged.

• 29:56Speaker 04

Nissan's so damaged, but how could a luxury version of Nissan do it?

• 29:59Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, the idea that they think that they can, they can, they even have the space for a luxury brand at this point is like, like, let's focus on the, like, when Ford, remember when Ford had 18 brands? And then they're like, you know, actually, we're kind of failing with even the main ones, so let's get rid of those.

• 30:14Speaker 03

Yeah. Correctly so. But basically, everybody's going off-road. Mini G-Wagon, the Audi off-road, the Scout, the Xterra, XRT.

• 30:22Doug DeMuro?

  The Crater.

• 30:22Speaker 03

  Everybody's doing it.

• 30:23Speaker 04

  Everybody's doing it.

• 30:24Doug DeMuro?

• 31:35Doug DeMuro?

  Including our next news story.

• 31:38Speaker 04

Your favorite brand. What a transition. I was gonna give this story, but you're the Porsche guy. Why don't you go?

• 31:43Doug DeMuro?

Porsche is doing recommissions of their cars for rich people who have a Porsche and want to send it back to the factory for the factory to like change the color, change the wheels, change the interior. Like, Carrera GTs were almost all silver. You couldn't order that level of personalization stuff back in the day, but now you can. So you can take your car back to Porsche and for an absurd amount of money, they will make it ugly. Which pretty much is exclusively what they've done.

• 32:08Speaker 04

That is not the news story, though. They've been doing that for a while. What is news is now you can recommission a fairly bland 957, which isn't the official designation.

• 32:19Doug DeMuro?

It's a V8 manual. I would actually argue the news story is that Porsche is in such dire financial straits that if a fellow writes in from the Middle East with a used car, he can send it to Stuttgart and for a million dollars, they'll make it in some special spec that honestly looks like a rap to be.

• 32:39Speaker 04

This does look like something we could do in a weekend.

• 32:43Doug DeMuro?

  Interior stuff.

• 32:43Speaker 04

But I'm sure it's got houndstooth line glove boxes.

• 32:47Doug DeMuro?

It's a manual SUV. We love that.

• 32:50Speaker 04

  We do love that.

• 32:51Doug DeMuro?

  It's a cool car. It's a, I think it's cool at forty fifty.

• 32:54Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 32:55Doug DeMuro?

When I send mine to Porsche, you know, the Carrera GT recommissions are a million bucks. I assume they didn't charge this guy that, but I guarantee it wasn't fifty.

• 33:02Speaker 04

Even a hundred grand, let's say, like a nine five seven, really? That's what you're gonna dump a hundred grand into? Like.

• 33:09Doug DeMuro?

It's cool and I admire the dude for wanting to do it and I admire Porsche for offering it for all their products. But like, um, company hurts for money and, and, and makes bizarre looking versions of, of existing. The, some of the, the reason I bring this up especially about the recommissions is some of the Carrera GT recommissions have been the most tasteless things that I have ever seen in my entire life.

• 33:34Speaker 04

Yep. If you are the proud owner of one of these recommissions.

• 33:37Doug DeMuro?

I, you are. If you, you can only be the owner. You can't be proud of what they've done.

• 33:43Speaker 04

Yeah, some of them like, like there was one in Oslo blue that I got on a spot on Instagram about where they were like, it's collector grade. And I'm like, this is not good looking. And like, it was repainted at a dealer in Houston. Like, how is that? In my world, that's just a badly modified car.

• 33:59Doug DeMuro?

There's a difference between the recommissions, which are going to the factory, I think, and then what some other people are doing.

• 34:04Speaker 04

Now the dealers are getting into it, like it's a whole mess.

• 34:06Doug DeMuro?

recommissions, I don't think looked that bad, but some of the factory ones look like the factory is making fun of their customers. I honest, truly think that. And I'm not gonna call out anybody, but you got Google, type Carrera GT recommission. Some of them have looked good. So truly, some of them look good. Some of them.

• 34:22Speaker 04

A lot of them are this way, like McLaren is redoing SLRs and all the MSO McLaren edition, like the one that's going up on MECUM in January is like orange with black accents. I mean, it truly looks like the most.

• 34:35Doug DeMuro?

  Pull up an SLR.

• 34:36Speaker 04

  Over the top. They.

• 34:37Doug DeMuro?

I'm scared to. Have you not seen this? It's like an SLR that looks like a modern day McLaren and.

• 34:43Speaker 04

  They, they put like.

• 34:44Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 34:45Speaker 04

  Or like Manny Koshman.

• 34:46Doug DeMuro?

No, no, do that one because you can see better than.

• 34:48Speaker 04

  That one's a fairly tasteful.

• 34:49Doug DeMuro?

That's as tame as they get. Some of them are really, really, really bad. That one's pretty nice, actually.

• 34:54Speaker 04

I think Singer kind of ruined this where Singer did it pretty tastefully.

• 34:57Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 34:58Speaker 04

And now every manufacturer thinks like, oh, we can recommission our cars. I'm like, they just don't have, yeah, that's that orange one.

• 35:04Doug DeMuro?

  Oh.

• 35:04Speaker 04

  Like.

• 35:05Doug DeMuro?

You know what this is? This is the kind of car where the manufacturer proudly posted on Instagram and then they have to turn off comments.

• 35:10Speaker 04

  Yeah, totally.

• 35:12Doug DeMuro?

Or they only like the four comments that agree with them.

• 35:16Speaker 04

Worst fact gets tagged in all of them and they're like, crap, we gotta turn this off.

• 35:21Doug DeMuro?

Ah, Cayenne GTS recommissioned. Very interesting.

• 35:24Speaker 04

What SUV of this era would you recommission if you had a hundred grand to let the factory go wild?

• 35:29Doug DeMuro?

P38. And turn it into a Dominator. The factory that I would take it to is Toyota in San Antonio and I would tell them, listen, take this car and make it run.

• 35:39Speaker 03

  Add some camo.

• 35:40Doug DeMuro?

I don't even want to change the exterior. Faded paint all over the hood faded clear like all the P38s have. Don't mess with that. Just make it run.

• 35:46Speaker 03

They're gonna need to swap in a 3.5 liter V6.

• 35:49Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, heck yeah. The greatest engine on the market. You don't think it is? What is?

• 35:53Speaker 03

Well, the non-hybrid 3.5 liter current Toyota truck V6 has had more recall after recall.

• 36:01Doug DeMuro?

Every time this comes up, I want to underscore this. Everybody's like, they're going hybrid. They're ruining every, oh, they're going a hybrid and the Toyota truck's V8 forever. And what motor has had the problems, Filippo? Is it the hybrid?

• 36:12Speaker 03

  No.

• 36:13Doug DeMuro?

  That's why I said the non-hybrid.

• 36:14Speaker 03

  Zero.

• 36:15Doug DeMuro?

  Next news story. All right.

• 36:18Speaker 04

One more. The F1 race was in Las Vegas and as part of that, they also do a lot of auctions and stuff for rich people and car enthusiasts alike. So the new not McLaren, the Gordon Murray Design S1 LM, I believe is the official moniker, went for just under $21 million, which is getting to about the price point of an actual F1, although those are, they transact so infrequently, but like, it's, it's the most expensive new car.

• 36:45Doug DeMuro?

  At auction ever, right?

• 36:46Speaker 04

  Ever.

• 36:46Doug DeMuro?

  I think ever, period.

• 36:47Speaker 04

Yeah, it's pretty wild. We saw it at the Quail. It's absolutely beautiful and it definitely gives you the F1 vibes. It's like, you copied the homework but changed a few things so that it wasn't obvious you were cheating, but like, it's, it's very cool, but 21 million is wild.

• 37:03Doug DeMuro?

It's second year at Northwestern. He's copying some papers and changed a few things here and there. He was busy doing other pursuits, okay? I was. And, and he had to pay a kid.

• 37:16Doug DeMuro?

Yep. Uh, anyway, the point is, uh, $20 million, unbelievable, crazy number. Yeah. I will say, one thing that has been interesting to me, more interesting honestly than the sale price, was that when these car, do you remember when this car was announced? They said that five were commissioned and what did they say about the five? They were all sold.

• 37:34Speaker 03

  All to the same guy.

• 37:35Doug DeMuro?

They were all sold to the same guy. The story I have heard from some sources is that, uh, that guy has only retained one of the cars. In the end, his plan was to retain five, but he has actually sold off the other four, probably because the reception was so significant that he realized he could probably, it's like the developer who buys a bunch of lots, sells them all out, you know, makes houses and then keeps one house for free. I bet you he did that. Yep. Uh, or could have if that's what he, his goal was. Like, I bet you he could have probably got 10 to 20 million for all of them and ended up with a free S1, which would you turn down a free S1? No.

• 38:11Speaker 03

You don't go broke making a profit.

• 38:13Doug DeMuro?

That's right. Manny Koishman, that should be one of our news stories. Manny sold his, his mega church. He did. Folks. Or like double what he paid for it. Folks, this is real hard hitting news.

• 38:23Speaker 03

I will say that has been the talk of our friend group for the last week.

• 38:26Doug DeMuro?

  Manny!

• 38:26Speaker 03

All right, one more news story. We're gonna move on.

• 38:29Doug DeMuro?

Speaking of selling assets? Or getting them seized? There's a lot of speaking of. And speaking of, uh, baller buster appearances. Okay, CLK GT-R, uh, which is this car here, there's a fellow who's Canadian. Yep. Uh, who was an Olympic snowboarder in the 2002 Winter Games. Remember they were, where they were held? Salt Lake City. Salt Lake. Mitt Romney was there, your man. I do remember Mitt. And, uh. Huh? Drinking milk. Well, probably.

• 38:56Speaker 03

Eating hot dogs since they were food.

• 38:57Doug DeMuro?

Um, so Mitt Romney. Interesting. Do you remember, by the way, speaking of cars and Mitt Romney, do you remember when they, when they asked Mitt Romney on the campaign trail what he drove? He was always dogged, he was always dogged by these allegations that he was like too rich to like be a man. And so they asked him what he drove and his response was, well, my wife, she's got a couple of Cadillacs.

• 39:16Doug DeMuro?

We just got Cadillacs everywhere. Anywho, guy was a snowboarder, now he's killing people. That's the long and short of it. Yeah.

• 39:24Speaker 04

That's about it. It's gonna be a great docu-series one day.

• 39:27Doug DeMuro?

And, and, and he, uh, he killed some people in Canada and, and, and it's, he's, he's- And the US. He started a Mexican, he's part of the Mexican cartel. And my understanding of the Mexican cartel is you can kill people as long as it's kind of interrelated to drugs. But the moment you start killing people who are like randoms, the police are like- They aren't really randoms. The people he killed were randoms. He, he broke into an Airbnb, his, his people broke into an Airbnb in Toronto and killed two elderly Indian people because they had the wrong house. He also did, uh, have somebody killed who was gonna be testified against. The point is- But- He, uh, is wanted for all these things. This car was seized because it was ill-gotten, uh, gains or something like that.

• 40:11Speaker 04

By the, by the person that was in charge of cleaning the money. Thirteen million is what the, the feds are valuing the car at, which I assume is probably what the, the dude paid for, for it. But, I mean, what an amazing car, right? You think of money launderers, like they're, for one, this isn't exactly discreet. Like, it's not the best way to hide money.

• 40:30Doug DeMuro?

Just to see, okay. It is, it is a good place, it is a good place to wash money, though. If you're trying to launder a lot of money, like-

• 40:35Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 40:36Doug DeMuro?

There's not a lot of cars, yeah, one car. You don't have to do 12 cars. Maybe you could have bought the S1.

• 40:41Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 40:42Doug DeMuro?

Uh, the interesting thing that I was thinking about this, so the feds seized this car as part of this whole thing. How do you think they drove it? Right. Do you agree they watched my video? They, how else would they know how to turn the car on? How any of it worked?

• 40:54Speaker 04

The nice transporter that, that did the mercy, they just put a tow hook in and winch it on. They don't even like have to start the car.

• 41:02Doug DeMuro?

But if you, that's a good point. That's a good point. But if you move the car anywhere, you have to figure out the, it is a, it is a manual transmission without a gear lever.

• 41:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 41:12Doug DeMuro?

Do you know how to put it?

• 41:13Speaker 04

No, I would have to, I would have to-

• 41:14Doug DeMuro?

You have to wash them as well, yeah.

• 41:17Speaker 03

Feds, if you're the person that moved it out of a dealership showroom in Florida, and watched Doug's video on it to learn, send us a message, we want to know.

• 41:27Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 41:27Speaker 04

You ever seen a bunch of Copart videos where if the cars don't run, they just use a forklift? And they just, it's like the most painful thing to watch, but hopefully they do not do that.

• 41:36Doug DeMuro?

It's like when a car rolls down a hillside on like a canyon, the tow truck driver straps the thing to whatever hard point he can find and just drags it on up.

• 41:43Speaker 04

Yeah, that's awful to watch, but.

• 41:45Doug DeMuro?

Uh, okay, I want to talk about the Talk Car segment. It's important, the Talk Car segment is brought to us by the bear license plate.

• 41:53Speaker 03

A very nice gentleman in Canada who owns a small dealership had that plate traded in on a car.

• 41:58Doug DeMuro?

  Do you know about this?

• 41:59Speaker 03

Which was very kind of him.

• 42:00Speaker 04

  I'm, I guess I'm gonna find out.

• 42:02Doug DeMuro?

  The Northwest Territories.

• 42:03Speaker 03

  Thank you to Stefan.

• 42:04Doug DeMuro?

The Northwest Territories, which is a part of Canada, it's, it's the Northwest Territory, very extreme northern Canada. Strangely, it's not in the Northwest, it's actually the North Central.

• 42:12Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 42:13Doug DeMuro?

Uh, to be fair, Canada adds.

• 42:15Speaker 04

Ohio's the Midwest, but it's on Eastern time, none of that makes sense either.

• 42:18Doug DeMuro?

Their license plate, in the 1970s, they had a contest for new license plate, and a child designed a license plate shaped like a bear. And of course, a child designs it so you dismiss it as unrealistic, but they didn't. And since 1973 or something, all Northwest Territories license plates have been shaped like a bear.

• 42:35Speaker 03

They don't have to make that many of them.

• 42:37Doug DeMuro?

And so they're kind of cool, and, and so this one's here. This is an actual northern, now, Mike, one of my main goals in life is to see one on the road, and, and, um, let's do our, let's digress here.

• 42:49Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 42:50Doug DeMuro?

So every day when I film, I film my videos in the parking lot of the San Diego Zoo, which is one of the biggest tourist attractions in all of California. And, um, after I film my video, I then drive down two or three rows of zoo parking lot, trying, hoping that someday I will see on a car, one of these. And you see cars at the zoo parking lot from, I mean, I've seen Europe like frequently, but never a bear, even though I dream of it dearly.

• 43:15Speaker 03

  You know that I have.

• 43:16Doug DeMuro?

  But Filippo.

• 43:17Speaker 03

On a Nissan Titan XD, he was driving through Vermont, and my Kia Spectra, as it were, and they were towing an Airstream and must have gone across country. Across Canada, maybe now to the US, across country. Saw a Nissan Titan XZ.

• 43:31Doug DeMuro?

Dude, I'll tell you something. When I went to Niagara Falls.

• 43:33Speaker 03

I found the photo. It was great.

• 43:34Doug DeMuro?

Time I went to Niagara Falls, I went cra- all I- it was like people like looking at the falls. I was like freaking out in the parking lots, like every- because you're gonna see one. You know, like that's Canada's like main event. Like that's where it's gonna be, but I didn't.

• 43:47Speaker 03

If in 2014, 2015, you were driving through Vermont and you remember the territory plated Nissan Titan XZ, uh, send us a note.

• 43:56Doug DeMuro?

Okay, I really do- anyway, it's the bear is sponsored, the bear doesn't have a name, but the bear is sponsoring this segment. And people are gonna write it and say that Nunavut also has a bear shaped license plate, and that is not true. The Talk Car segment, I want to start, I want to start with the LX 700H over at TROF. Filippo, why don't you give us a little background here?

• 44:16Speaker 03

All right. A six months ago, a year ago, I don't know, Doug had a LX 700H press car. And he realized that he may have made a mistake in purchasing a Sequoia. Because the LX 700H is a better vehicle in every way, uh, except that it doesn't have camo, which is a detractor. We'll agree.

• 44:34Speaker 03

Recently, I came back from Japan.

• 44:35Doug DeMuro?

This is a big part of it.

• 44:37Speaker 03

I gifted Doug a little diecast LX 600H.

• 44:40Doug DeMuro?

So Filippo goes to Japan and he comes back with a little gift for all of our friends. And it's, and every way, he gives Nick like a C8 Corvette. It's like the Hot Wheels. I don't know. He got one for all of us.

• 44:50Speaker 03

  Something cool.

• 44:51Doug DeMuro?

He got one for all of us. And he gives me this jackass, he gives me an LX, new Lexus LX. And it just sent me down. I had forgotten about it.

• 45:01Speaker 03

  I regret it deeply.

• 45:03Doug DeMuro?

It's like a nightmare that you keep having recurring, recurring, and then it finally goes away and then someone brings it up again. Honestly, it was like, it's like alcohol. It's like you're an alcoholic. You go on AA and then he's like, oh, here, here.

• 45:16Speaker 03

I thought it would be a little callback joke. I didn't expect that it would spiral.

• 45:19Doug DeMuro?

  So now I've spiraled.

• 45:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 45:21Doug DeMuro?

I want it again. I want an LX. Uh, and there's been two interesting developments. One is, I discovered the worst thing about the LX is the front end styling is so ugly that it's actually difficult to talk about it, I think, in public. It's so, click on that picture. No, no, no. You gotta do an over trail because it's actually worse.

• 45:40Speaker 04

I had a thought on this for you this morning, actually, which is I saw a black, it's a GX, not an Alex, but on black, it looks less offensive.

• 45:47Doug DeMuro?

  I can't buy a black car. I don't, I wanna keep a black car.

• 45:49Speaker 04

You're gonna have to if you want this face.

• 45:51Doug DeMuro?

Aha. So I discovered, because this has actually been something keeping me from doing it. I discovered that there is an outfit up in Northern California, near Sacramento, called Descent Offroad, who creates a, a entire bumper. Go to a better high-res, I'm sure we'll, we'll be able to pull one up and have it on the thing. But you should see, it takes away almost the entire front end. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that. It takes away like the entire front end that's ugly. It, it, you literally only end up with half the grill.

• 46:19Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah. It's like the BMW M4, M3 bumper.

• 46:22Doug DeMuro?

Compared to this trash. And so I'm, yeah, so I'm sitting there thinking, okay, that solved one of our problems. However, the second development, as I drove the Sequoia this week with my family, pets, everything involved, to Joshua Tree.

• 46:34Speaker 04

Oh, how was it? Thanks for the invite.

• 46:36Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. There was a pickleball court at my Airbnb. We could've.

• 46:40Speaker 04

  We could've, we could've paddled.

• 46:44Doug DeMuro?

  You know what?

• 46:45Speaker 04

  We could've pickled.

• 46:45Doug DeMuro?

  I like that Sequoia.

• 46:46Speaker 03

  It's a good truck.

• 46:48Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 46:48Speaker 03

I think you're, you're obviously insane. Uh, the Alfa Romeo doesn't gain you that much. Slightly better ride, maybe slightly nicer interior, maybe heated rear seats.

• 46:55Doug DeMuro?

It gains a lot of stuff, actually.

• 46:56Speaker 03

But it's, it's one point. But also it's shorter, it's a little bit smaller. I think you want that extra space.

• 47:00Doug DeMuro?

Crucial for me. That's one of the biggest reasons I want it.

• 47:02Speaker 03

  Sequoia's not that big.

• 47:03Doug DeMuro?

  It's too big.

• 47:04Speaker 03

16 inches shorter than a Suburban.

• 47:05Doug DeMuro?

It's big enough that no one in my family, including me, will drive it. And we're all like, nope. Like, I'll go, I'll be away. My wife, her family will come. There's seven, seven of us. My, wow, we're taking the Mercedes. We're gonna cram into the third row because we hate driving the Sequoia that much. But here.

• 47:21Speaker 03

  That's, that's.

• 47:23Doug DeMuro?

First, this one's on portal axles, by the way.

• 47:24Speaker 04

For 120, not, never minding the mods, have you thought you could get a 957 for like 20? It's been a hundred grand reconditioning it.

• 47:32Doug DeMuro?

And maybe you can get a third row as a result. Oh, that's a good idea. Anyway, still want the LX 700H. And the thing I like the most about it, no joke, is the powertrain. All these people are freaking out about the 5.7 V8, which is not a particularly reliable engine, or an efficient one, or a good one. The twin-turbo V6 in the new hybrid twin-turbo V6 in the Sequoia TRD Pro and the LX 700H, I truly believe is one of the great engines on sale in any vehicle on the market.

• 47:56Speaker 04

Have the used values dropped at all, or you still gotta buy them basically now?

• 47:59Doug DeMuro?

For the overtrails, they're dropping. There's not a lot of interest in them. But Sequoia TRD Pro sales are strong. By the way, part of this was, I saw a couple of other Sequoias when I was out there, TRD Pro Sequoias, and I was like, I was like looking at some of the mods, some of the vanity plates. I'm like, I gotta get out of this car. Uh, no.

• 48:18Speaker 04

What if you just sold the Sequoia and didn't replace it until next summer for Nantucket? And just chilled and waited for those values to drop, but get out of the Sequoia before it gets bad?

• 48:26Doug DeMuro?

I was thinking of, in the fall, sell the Sequoia and wait until the spring to get a...

• 48:32Speaker 04

The fall is in like last month?

• 48:34Doug DeMuro?

Next fall. So it's fall of 2026. And then for like seven months, not have a car, have a three-row.

• 48:39Speaker 04

Although I need the P38 if you need something just to get around.

• 48:42Doug DeMuro?

Multiple? That won't get me around.

• 48:44Speaker 04

It got me all the way to Mexico today.

• 48:47Speaker 03

I've been using Cash App a ton lately. And the thing that still blows me away is how ridiculously fast it was to set up. Faster than I used to make a footlong when I was a Subway sandwich artist, which was legitimately my first job. And honestly, after the last ad read mentioning that Subway experience, so many fans reached out asking about it. And I'm happy to talk all about it. It's wild how relatable that first job hustle is. And man, if I could have gotten my paycheck two days earlier back then, it would have been a total game changer. Making like $7.25 an hour and living on free cookies, early access to pay would have saved me big time. And real question, are you one of those people who request money down to the exact cent? Because I absolutely am. If you owe me $6.13, I'm sending that request for $6.13. I am not rounding. It's who I am as a person.

• 49:32Speaker 03

Cash App is more than just a safe way to send and receive money. With a Cash App card, you get tons of perks without hidden fees. Think early access to concert pre-sales like Kendrick Lamar and Sabrina Carpenter, plus discounts on everyday purchases. At brands you're probably already spending your money on. It also keeps your money safe by automatically flagging suspicious transactions and letting you lock your card instantly if it's ever lost or stolen. For a limited time, new Cash App customers can earn $10 if they use code CASHAPP10 in their profile at signup and send $5 to a friend within 14 days. Terms apply. Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. Banking services are provided by Cash App's bank partners. Prepaid debit card issued by Sun Bank, member FDIC. Discounts and promotions provided by Cash App, a BlockAinc brand.

• 50:15Speaker 03

Visit cash.app/legal/podcast for full disclosures. Can we talk about the P38?

• 50:21Speaker 04

  Sure.

• 50:22Doug DeMuro?

  So what happened?

• 50:22Speaker 03

  It's driving.

• 50:24Speaker 04

Okay, so, yeah, I got it immediately, was like, okay, let me just make sure it's safe because it rode pretty sketchy. And the...

• 50:33Speaker 03

Can you define what that means?

• 50:34Speaker 04

Like it just like bounced all over the road.

• 50:36Speaker 03

  Suspension, okay.

• 50:37Speaker 04

Like, yeah, suspension related, like something wasn't quite right. Uh, there was a few other things that I was just like, I want to get it checked out before I put my family in it. And the initial estimate came back 7,000 bucks.

• 50:47Speaker 03

  Right.

• 50:48Speaker 04

Which is what the guy paid for it on Cars and Bids two years ago. So basically, it was free, but it needed seven grand worth of work. It's worth seven grand. It was mechanically total.

• 50:57Speaker 03

To be fair, that's true of every P38.

• 50:59Speaker 04

  It is.

• 51:00Doug DeMuro?

And honestly, seven grand is light. Whatever mechanic you took it to gave you a sweetheart.

• 51:05Speaker 04

I don't think so. It wasn't anything major. It was death of a thousand paper cuts. It's like, okay, it needs brakes, it needs a valve casket.

• 51:11Speaker 03

  Yeah, it does not...

• 51:11Speaker 04

I did five grand worth of work on it.

• 51:14Doug DeMuro?

  Oh my Nick!

• 51:15Speaker 04

  Forty-eight hundred.

• 51:16Doug DeMuro?

  Oh my god!

• 51:17Speaker 03

  Better, that's better.

• 51:18Speaker 04

  Forty-eight hundred.

• 51:19Doug DeMuro?

Sam is gonna lose it. You are out of your mind. You're insane.

• 51:22Speaker 03

What did you do? Did you say yes to the brakes or no to the brakes?

• 51:25Speaker 04

Uh, I'm doing the brakes myself because I found the brakes for a hundred bucks and we'll...

• 51:30Doug DeMuro?

So what did you do for five minutes? You're gonna spend hours under this thing in your driveway? Nick.

• 51:35Speaker 04

I'll do it in my garage.

• 51:36Speaker 03

Well, yeah, because the driveway is at an angle. That'd be problematic.

• 51:38Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 51:39Speaker 03

  Hard to swap out brakes.

• 51:40Speaker 04

Rear rotors and calipers are like...

• 51:41Doug DeMuro?

He's gonna park his SLR on the cul-de-sac in the street so that he can do a brake job on a free crap car.

• 51:50Speaker 03

  Well, it's a $5,000.

• 51:51Speaker 04

I drove it all the way down to Mexico today.

• 51:54Doug DeMuro?

Well, that's not all the way. Nick, it's 20 minutes.

• 51:58Doug DeMuro?

I did an international road trip in my P38.

• 52:01Speaker 04

From North County, that was a 40 mile drive. Not a single warning light.

• 52:05Speaker 03

But you're not home yet. You haven't done 50 miles yet, which is when they all turn on.

• 52:09Doug DeMuro?

  No ABS light, no weird.

• 52:10Speaker 03

Have you done 50 miles? Cause that's when it will turn on.

• 52:12Doug DeMuro?

  Nick.

• 52:12Speaker 04

  Yeah, I've done 70.

• 52:13Speaker 03

  Oh, wow.

• 52:14Speaker 04

  Total, yeah.

• 52:16Speaker 03

Um, what did you, okay, you did the valve cover gaskets suspension or no?

• 52:19Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, they had to rebuild the whole front suspension. That was the main thing that caused it to ride bad. No. It also doesn't have a glove box. There's some other issues.

• 52:27Speaker 03

Does it, like, otherwise run okay?

• 52:30Speaker 04

Runs great. And my, my son loves it. He calls it the monster truck. I plan to lift it and we're gonna, we're gonna have all of it. It'll be like the Hyundai Crater concept.

• 52:39Speaker 03

We're gonna rebuild the suspension. Okay. Um, what are you in the break?

• 52:42Doug DeMuro?

I can't believe you dropped five minutes. You learned nothing from the Arnage. What's your Arnage at, by the way?

• 52:46Speaker 04

Uh, it's at 18. I paid 18.5 for it and then dumped another 17 grand into it. So I'm hoping there's a few more bidders out there.

• 52:54Doug DeMuro?

  The Arnage, it's interesting.

• 52:55Speaker 04

  Look at those pictures, Michael.

• 52:57Speaker 03

  I know, they're so good.

• 52:57Doug DeMuro?

By the way, these pictures make it look better than it is. Don't buy this car.

• 53:01Speaker 04

Walking by it earlier, uh, before we filmed this. It is so beautiful.

• 53:06Speaker 03

  It's a gorgeous car.

• 53:07Doug DeMuro?

I've been coming in, I came in the opposite of the day, no one was here. I can't remember what for. Oh, I dropped off the Jeep.

• 53:10Speaker 04

  Look at that thing.

• 53:11Doug DeMuro?

And I pull in and I'm like, get out, I'm like, damn.

• 53:13Speaker 04

  It's so cool.

• 53:14Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 53:14Speaker 03

Is the rear wheel smaller than the front?

• 53:16Doug DeMuro?

  No, they're, they're like 18.

• 53:18Speaker 03

  It's a tire lighter thing.

• 53:20Doug DeMuro?

Um, it's cool. It's, it's, this car will be horrible for whoever buys it.

• 53:25Speaker 03

No, for all the Arnages in the world, this is probably in the top 10%.

• 53:28Doug DeMuro?

18 is already a radical overpayment.

• 53:31Speaker 03

Top, not based on the comms.

• 53:33Doug DeMuro?

  No chance.

• 53:34Speaker 03

  I think they're all tough.

• 53:36Speaker 04

It's certainly in the upper half.

• 53:39Doug DeMuro?

Well, that's because the lower half is literally junk.

• 53:41Speaker 04

Well, I bought it in the lower half, so I like to think I took it from like a two or three to like a six or seven.

• 53:46Doug DeMuro?

The lower half is junk cars and green labels. And even the nicest green label in the world is in the lower half.

• 53:51Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 53:51Doug DeMuro?

And then all the other ones are in the upper half.

• 53:54Speaker 03

It's such a good looking car.

• 53:55Doug DeMuro?

How did you make it look so good?

• 53:57Speaker 04

I way over invested. I mean, of that 17 grand or so I spent on it, like

• 54:01Doug DeMuro?

  A lot was cosmetic.

• 54:02Speaker 04

  Half of that was cosmetic.

• 54:03Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, you did all the wood.

• 54:04Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 54:05Speaker 03

After our Nog's ownership, five grand to fix a car.

• 54:08Speaker 04

  Right.

• 54:08Speaker 03

  Free.

• 54:09Doug DeMuro?

  You know, I gotta say.

• 54:10Speaker 04

  Screw up your whole system.

• 54:11Doug DeMuro?

I'm looking at these pictures and I'm like, Tim, are we sure you want to get rid of this?

• 54:14Speaker 04

  For $18,000?

• 54:16Doug DeMuro?

It's finally right. It's finally right.

• 54:17Speaker 04

No. Find me more presents for 18 grand.

• 54:20Speaker 03

I mean, Doug, you say it's finally right. Let's just look through some of the known flaws here.

• 54:23Doug DeMuro?

  Scratches on wheels.

• 54:25Speaker 04

  I mean, come on.

• 54:26Speaker 03

  Airbag light, ABS light.

• 54:28Doug DeMuro?

What, the front passenger window motor, you were never able to fix that?

• 54:30Speaker 04

It, the motor has like a short in it. And so they're like, you gotta find a whole new motor. We can't rebuild it. So I took it out, I shipped it in to get rebuilt. They shipped it back. And then they were like, Mr. Rashawn, you've sent us so many window regulators to repair. This one's on the house. We won't charge you. Including the shipping, they paid back on their own dime. And so I just felt sorry for me at that point. I had done three window regulators on it. That was the fourth. And I didn't do with them all at the same time. Each one was individually taken out and shipped to them at different points over the last year.

• 54:59Doug DeMuro?

  Cause they all broke individually?

• 55:00Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 55:01Doug DeMuro?

So why didn't you fix this one?

• 55:02Speaker 04

Well, so I needed to find a new motor or a new window regulator motor. They weren't on eBay and I just

• 55:08Doug DeMuro?

  Gave up.

• 55:08Speaker 04

  At some point.

• 55:09Doug DeMuro?

At some point, you gotta stop.

• 55:10Speaker 04

It still works. You just gotta like tap the button a bunch of times instead of holding it down. It's like, okay, that's not.

• 55:15Doug DeMuro?

Look at all these, all these pictures are goo coming out of a check engine light.

• 55:18Speaker 04

No one has ever tried harder to sell a car for less money.

• 55:21Doug DeMuro?

Like, how are you responding to comments about this? I mean, we've, we've been pretty clear about this.

• 55:26Speaker 04

As honest as I can. Someone asked, do, do I think it'll make it to Jersey? And I'm like, no guarantees.

• 55:31Doug DeMuro?

No guarantees. Nick, the answer to that is no.

• 55:34Speaker 04

  Of course it won't make.

• 55:35Doug DeMuro?

It could. Nick, the car broke down four times. You never took it out of, out of North County.

• 55:40Speaker 03

  No, I've driven it.

• 55:41Doug DeMuro?

  What's the last ring one?

• 55:42Speaker 04

Three, 400 miles since the last time. You know, it's been LA. It's, um, Sean took it to LA around Beverly Hills and up to Angeles Crest. To the, um, that breakfast thing.

• 55:52Doug DeMuro?

  This is the high bidder.

• 55:53Speaker 04

The high bidder right now, it seems like he'd be a good home because he likes a lot of Also. High maintenance, British.

• 55:58Doug DeMuro?

And he's the guy who bought my NAS 90. It was wonderful.

• 56:01Speaker 04

And it's been on my P38.

• 56:02Speaker 03

And he bought this Alfa Romeo GTV.

• 56:04Doug DeMuro?

You know, I gotta tell you, this, this guy's bid history is what I wish my bid history could be, but I, I'm not. I'm not ready for this.

• 56:11Speaker 04

I gotta go bet on some more cars.

• 56:13Doug DeMuro?

Don't see him there. He was really wonderful, super nice guy, easy to deal with. You know, because the best thing about selling a car, the best way a person can be is they never talk to you again. And he has actually reached out a bunch of times, but just to like send me pictures and never complain, which has been lovely. We were pretty upfront about that car.

• 56:29Speaker 04

There are certain types of enthusiasts that like a little pain. So after the P38, someone added me to an Instagram group called Rover Roulette. And this is the most unhinged group of human beings you've ever been around. I love it so much, but like suddenly I went from feeling like crazy neck to like the most normal person in the group, you know? And I'm like, yes.

• 56:50Doug DeMuro?

I remember one time I was in an L322 owners group on Facebook years ago, because I had obviously an L322 for years. And I remember one time a guy came in, he had been added to the group, he knew nothing about the cars. He had bought an 03 to 05, which is a really rough one, and was having, starting to have the typical issues, cool, what those cars have. And I'll never forget, a guy who was really well-known in the group replied and said, being stupid costs money.

• 57:42Doug DeMuro?

  And it was like, damn.

• 57:45Doug DeMuro?

It's so true, and it's especially true in the Rover world. If you know what you're getting into, that's one thing.

• 57:49Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 57:50Doug DeMuro?

If not, being stupid costs money. Filippo, last week on the pod, you told us that you were interested in buying a car.

• 57:57Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 57:57Doug DeMuro?

This week on the pod, and by the way, this isn't one of those situations where you bought the car and you're gonna

• 58:01Speaker 04

  No.

• 58:01Doug DeMuro?

Please talk about it for weeks. You haven't bought a car yet. What's going on?

• 58:06Speaker 03

I am looking. I have been in deep negotiations with somebody selling a 991.

• 58:12Doug DeMuro?

All right. What are you looking for? You know, when I, when I said that I was looking for my 993, it was unbelievable. How many people reached out? They came out of the woodwork. Why don't you tell everybody what you're looking for?

• 58:21Speaker 03

  I am looking for a 991 dot one. So 2012 to 2015.

• 58:26Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 58:27Speaker 03

  Uh, base.

• 58:28Doug DeMuro?

  Base.

• 58:29Speaker 03

  C2.

• 58:29Doug DeMuro?

  C2.

• 58:30Speaker 03

Carrera 2. Uh, Cabriolet or coupe.

• 58:33Doug DeMuro?

  Cabriolet.

• 58:34Speaker 03

We live in Southern California, so Cabriolet is great for that. I actually think the coupe looks better than 91 coupe is an.

• 58:39Doug DeMuro?

The whole thing about that car though was that the Cabriolet roof had the same.

• 58:42Speaker 03

  It doesn't.

• 58:43Doug DeMuro?

  It does.

• 58:43Speaker 03

We can all agree that, that the coupe looks better.

• 58:45Doug DeMuro?

No, this was the whole thing about the car. When I worked at Porsche, this was all they could say about it coming out. Oh, you know, the convertible.

• 58:51Speaker 03

The Cabriolet looks great, but the coupe looks even better.

• 58:55Doug DeMuro?

Like, either, yeah, either is very acceptable. Clicking that picture with the roof up. It was supposed to have the same, and I think it generally does.

• 59:01Speaker 03

But like the coupe is just such an attractive car. So I would consider either for that reason. Uh, manual, needs to be a manual.

• 59:06Doug DeMuro?

  Turbo?

• 59:06Speaker 03

  No PDK.

• 59:07Doug DeMuro?

  Turbo S.

• 59:08Speaker 03

  I said a C2.

• 59:10Doug DeMuro?

$65,000 budget Turbo S. Okay, tell us what the number is.

• 59:14Speaker 03

Want to stay in the 60s, which is, I think is like a realistic.

• 59:17Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 59:18Speaker 03

  Number.

• 59:18Doug DeMuro?

Does, when, when Filippo says 60s, what he means is 58 to 61, right?

• 59:23Speaker 03

  Am I wrong? I mean, 58 to 65.

• 59:25Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 59:25Speaker 03

  No.

• 59:26Doug DeMuro?

  Fees?

• 59:26Speaker 03

  No.

• 59:27Doug DeMuro?

  You get a Montana, right?

• 59:28Speaker 03

No, of course not. I register my cars and stay where I live.

• 59:30Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 59:31Speaker 04

Well, just do private party sale.

• 59:33Speaker 03

  That would be ideal.

• 59:34Doug DeMuro?

You're gonna register in Tennessee? Um, okay.

• 59:38Speaker 03

So I'm legitimately looking. I'm negotiating with the person. I don't know if they'll buy that one or not, but.

• 59:42Doug DeMuro?

Early 991. Who do we send it to? Oh, Sean, S E A N at carsandbids.com. Or Instagram.

• 59:49Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 59:50Doug DeMuro?

  Manual, early 991 C2.

• 59:54Speaker 04

Do not send it to me. I got so many 993 turbos over the last two months. I want no more. I'm not showing Doug anything.

• 1:00:01Speaker 03

  DM me, email [email protected].

• 1:00:03Doug DeMuro?

The day that, the day that I was finally like shooting the video for the car, Nick sends a message to our group then he's like, damn it. He's like, uh, Graham Rahal just listed an arena red 993 turbo and 20 people have already sent it to me.

• 1:00:19Speaker 03

Please help me find a car. Thanks.

• 1:00:21Doug DeMuro?

Okay, but if someone does reach out with a nice manual 991.1 C2 at a 60 number.

• 1:00:29Speaker 03

  I've been actively pursuing, legitimately.

• 1:00:30Doug DeMuro?

  You will purchase the car.

• 1:00:32Speaker 03

Incredibly long text chain with somebody selling one right now.

• 1:00:35Doug DeMuro?

Will you pick me on this?

• 1:00:36Speaker 04

You wasting someone's time does not count.

• 1:00:38Speaker 03

I'm not wasting anybody's time, seriously.

• 1:00:39Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, right, right. Will you pick me on this?

• 1:00:42Speaker 03

  On what? What's the problem?

• 1:00:43Doug DeMuro?

That if someone reaches out with a good, so I'll exempt you from bad car fags and that kind of stuff. You don't have.

• 1:00:50Speaker 04

Any colors, like no black or yes silver?

• 1:00:52Speaker 03

I have no specific rules. There are some specs that I have not loved. And so like that like cuts down the price a little bit.

• 1:00:58Doug DeMuro?

I think a lot about that silver blue cab.

• 1:01:01Speaker 03

I know. It's back for sale.

• 1:01:02Doug DeMuro?

It's for sale, the one we had?

• 1:01:04Speaker 03

Yeah, but it has some mods and some other issues.

• 1:01:06Doug DeMuro?

So that one, click on that. That's back for sale. That, that.

• 1:01:09Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:01:10Speaker 04

I will help you take mods off.

• 1:01:11Doug DeMuro?

  Filippo, look at that.

• 1:01:13Speaker 03

I don't love this spec, but if we can find something more like, I should have bought this five months ago.

• 1:01:20Speaker 04

  Would've, could've, should've.

• 1:01:21Doug DeMuro?

  Sixty seven.

• 1:01:22Speaker 03

I don't have a spec, I would prefer premium plus, premium or premium plus packages. I would prefer.

• 1:01:26Speaker 04

Yeah, I don't get in any of that.

• 1:01:28Speaker 03

I don't have a mileage cutoff at all. My plan is to drive this car a lot.

• 1:01:32Speaker 04

Be careful because the 993 turbos, I got ones with like 200,000 miles. So you've got to have some upper limit.

• 1:01:38Speaker 03

We have a 991 Live right now with 169,000.

• 1:01:41Doug DeMuro?

Holy moly. Wait, what's wrong with this car?

• 1:01:44Speaker 03

  It's a PDK.

• 1:01:46Doug DeMuro?

It is in San Diego though.

• 1:01:48Speaker 03

  It is 169,000 miles.

• 1:01:50Doug DeMuro?

Wow. You know, I'll never forget.

• 1:01:51Speaker 04

Interesting one to see where it lands.

• 1:01:53Doug DeMuro?

  I'll never forget.

• 1:01:53Speaker 03

It's a great daily driver. Hey Sean, producer Sean, you want to buy this?

• 1:01:56Doug DeMuro?

I'll never forget the day that I met Magnus Walker.

• 1:02:00Speaker 03

  Uh huh.

• 1:02:01Doug DeMuro?

I was at an airport runway and he was there too. And it was like one of those like race the cars in the runway things. And you know, I think I'm not a, I'm Magnus Walker. I'm not a Porsche guy. I'm not going to have anything to say to this guy. But we ended up having the best, we hit it off and we like chatted for hours, loved Magnus Walker. I truly loved him. I thought he was great. You know what his daily was, might still be. He had found a 991 turbo that someone had driven. And this was five years ago, that someone had driven like 250,000 miles. And he bought it for like not much because it was, it was like the high, you know, there were no comps. And that was his daily. And he was like, I'm just trying to see what happens. I was like, all right.

• 1:02:40Speaker 03

It's in Carlsbad. If I were open to a PDK.

• 1:02:44Doug DeMuro?

  You shouldn't.

• 1:02:44Speaker 03

  No, I shouldn't.

• 1:02:44Doug DeMuro?

PDK is a fantastic transmission. But if you want a stick, you should get a stick.

• 1:02:49Speaker 03

But this will be a deal because higher mile 991, early 991s with a PDK are worth notably less than the manuals. There's a real price difference. And this is probably in the 40s.

• 1:03:00Doug DeMuro?

This is as high a mile as you're gonna get. That silver blue, you need to buy. I'll kick in, Nick and I'll kick in some cash.

• 1:03:07Speaker 03

  How much?

• 1:03:08Doug DeMuro?

I'll sell this on eBay and whatever it pulls in.

• 1:03:10Speaker 03

  We don't sell gifts.

• 1:03:12Speaker 04

And by him selling eBay, he means he'll make me sell it on eBay.

• 1:03:16Speaker 03

That's true. But please do DM me cars that are.

• 1:03:19Doug DeMuro?

  991 dot one stick.

• 1:03:22Speaker 03

  That's it.

• 1:03:22Doug DeMuro?

60K around. Well, you don't want a super low mile car.

• 1:03:25Speaker 03

No, no. In the low 60s.

• 1:03:28Doug DeMuro?

  We want a reasonable car.

• 1:03:29Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:03:30Doug DeMuro?

You'll take non-colored crests and the center caps?

• 1:03:32Speaker 03

  Yeah, I don't. I would say not.

• 1:03:35Speaker 06

• 1:05:05Speaker 06

  Terms and conditions apply.

• 1:05:07Doug DeMuro?

Okay, I want to quickly do market report because we have to move on to questions which are fine this week, fine. They're just fine? Yeah, they're just fine. Can we go, can I start with my market report about the GLA 45?

• 1:05:18Speaker 03

Oh, I love the GLA 45.

• 1:05:19Doug DeMuro?

GLA 45, I think, is one of the most underrated cars in existence.

• 1:05:22Speaker 04

Now, is this an SUV or a hatchback, based on your GV60 discussion?

• 1:05:25Doug DeMuro?

I'm gonna make the point that it's a hatchback. You know, people are out here-

• 1:05:27Speaker 04

  I agree.

• 1:05:28Doug DeMuro?

People are here talking about hot hatches, and Mercedes marketed this as an SUV, but I've always been a big fan of, don't look at marketing, look at dimensions. And, you know, this has 380 horsepower, it's four-wheel drive, it's dual-clutch, like, this is a Golf R, except a nicer interior, it's more frenetic to drive, it is an insane automobile, and this one just sold under $20,000.

• 1:05:48Speaker 03

And, this has a bunch of wise tag engineering part, which is legitimate.

• 1:05:51Speaker 04

A lot of these GLA 45 seem to get modded up.

• 1:05:54Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:54Speaker 04

Meaning, people are buying them as a hot hatch, not as a, get the kids to soccer class.

• 1:05:58Doug DeMuro?

I'm making this point today, but there are people who have already realized this, you're right. And honestly, I even like the, I'm not a bad aftermarket wheel gun, I like these. This car looks nice.

• 1:06:06Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:06:06Doug DeMuro?

  And 18, 380 horsepower!

• 1:06:09Speaker 03

There, in other markets, there was an A-Class hatch, that was just this, but lower.

• 1:06:12Doug DeMuro?

And we got, remember, we got the CLA 45, which was essentially that, but as a sedan. But if you, if you get past the, "Oh, it's an SUV," it's not, and just look at what it is, it's a hot hatch with 380 horsepower.

• 1:06:25Speaker 03

  355 stock, but nevertheless, close.

• 1:06:26Doug DeMuro?

  Wasn't it 375?

• 1:06:27Speaker 03

  355.

• 1:06:28Doug DeMuro?

  Go back.

• 1:06:28Speaker 03

I think there was a facelift in 17.

• 1:06:31Doug DeMuro?

That upped the power, because it got up to 375.

• 1:06:34Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:06:34Doug DeMuro?

  That's real, you know, that's how much the F355 had, Kenan's F355.

• 1:06:37Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:06:38Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:39Speaker 03

  350 pound-feet of torque, wow.

• 1:06:42Doug DeMuro?

  That's a serious, because you've driven one.

• 1:06:44Speaker 03

No, but I would love to.

• 1:06:45Doug DeMuro?

Halls, and honestly, if you drive it hard, it feels like you're a Barth. It's like a frenetic, like, crazy, tight-shearing, like, loud, kill-you kind of car. It's like a Golf R, but cheaper and cooler.

• 1:06:55Speaker 03

Also, these AMG four-cylinders sound kind of cool.

• 1:06:58Doug DeMuro?

They do sound kind of cool.

• 1:06:59Speaker 03

The GLB 35 AMG, like, the current 35 AMGs, sound good.

• 1:07:02Doug DeMuro?

We all would prefer a V8, but in this segment, a four-cylinder is what you're gonna get in every car, even the-

• 1:07:07Speaker 03

  The real power.

• 1:07:08Doug DeMuro?

Focus RS, the GR Corolla, that's a three-cylinder. But, you get the point. I like these things.

• 1:07:13Speaker 04

At that price point, that's pretty compelling.

• 1:07:15Doug DeMuro?

  Under 20.

• 1:07:15Speaker 03

Yeah. Of course, I'm more of a QX30 fan myself.

• 1:07:17Doug DeMuro?

Dude, if they had done a hot QX30, that would have been so cool.

• 1:07:22Speaker 04

This is a GLA, just Infiniti.

• 1:07:24Doug DeMuro?

Did you know this? Infiniti made a Mercedes, rebadged a Mercedes GLA for like two models.

• 1:07:28Speaker 04

It looked better in some ways.

• 1:07:30Doug DeMuro?

  The interior's wild.

• 1:07:31Speaker 04

  Looks fine anyways.

• 1:07:31Doug DeMuro?

Because it's an Infiniti center cap on the steering wheel and everything else is Mercedes.

• 1:07:37Speaker 04

  Yup.

• 1:07:38Doug DeMuro?

  Makes no sense.

• 1:07:39Speaker 04

That's a good market where everybody should go out and buy one.

• 1:07:41Doug DeMuro?

Go buy a GLA 45, but only on Cars and Bids! Or somewhere else, I don't really care. But sell it on, alright. What's your market report?

• 1:07:48Speaker 04

  I don't know, I've left my laptop.

• 1:07:52Doug DeMuro?

  The BMW wagon.

• 1:07:53Speaker 04

Oh yes. Pull up that BMW wagon.

• 1:07:55Doug DeMuro?

This isn't really a market topic, but it's so cool.

• 1:07:57Speaker 04

Unbelievable. There is a Maserati Gran Turismo and or Quattroporte 4.7 liter V8 in this. So, they did the full M3 look on the outside, you would have thought they just put in an M3 motor, but no.

• 1:08:12Doug DeMuro?

Which they probably should have just done.

• 1:08:14Speaker 04

Full on crazy with the 4.7. So, what's beautiful about this car, the Ferrari badges is maybe questionable.

• 1:08:22Doug DeMuro?

  Ferrari derived.

• 1:08:22Speaker 04

It is the Ferrari derived motor, it sounds really good. Like, that was my favorite thing of the 4.7 and the Quattroporte was the sound and then the flat plane crank versus the cross plane. It sounded slightly better in the Maserati version. Like, this car's gonna sound cool, it looks cool. I can't imagine how they got all this to work together.

• 1:08:39Doug DeMuro?

Especially because it's a manual swap. That's the other crazy thing about it.

• 1:08:42Speaker 04

How? Which didn't come in that Maserati.

• 1:08:45Doug DeMuro?

  Right.

• 1:08:45Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:08:45Doug DeMuro?

But the manual came from something weird. What was it? There was an explanation of where it came from. The, um...

• 1:08:53Speaker 04

  Nissan CD.

• 1:08:55Doug DeMuro?

It's a Nissan 6-speed manual. The whole thing is crazy. This car's in Massachusetts and I've learned from my own friends in Massachusetts, this is what happens when you have winter. November comes and you're like, well, I can't drive anymore, so I got this BMW wagon. Why don't I swap a Maserati 4.7 and a Nissan 6-speed into it? And by spring, you have this car, but then you can no longer pass state inspections, so now it's on Cars and Bids.

• 1:09:19Speaker 04

It's just, it's such a bonkers build in the best way possible.

• 1:09:23Doug DeMuro?

  Crazy.

• 1:09:23Speaker 04

  Wild.

• 1:09:24Doug DeMuro?

Crazy. I have literally no idea what it's gonna sell for.

• 1:09:27Speaker 04

  I don't either.

• 1:09:27Doug DeMuro?

  How could anybody know?

• 1:09:28Speaker 04

Like, it's definitely one of those cars where you're like, at the right price, I'm a bidder, you know?

• 1:09:34Doug DeMuro?

Why have you not bid already?

• 1:09:35Speaker 04

I'm sure the cost to do this was astronomical. Like, I don't, maybe they get it back.

• 1:09:40Doug DeMuro?

I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't cost that much. I bet you these motors are pretty easy to find.

• 1:09:45Speaker 04

  Motor definable, but just-

• 1:09:47Doug DeMuro?

  From a time perspective-

• 1:09:48Speaker 04

  Labor.

• 1:09:49Doug DeMuro?

The labor, I mean, obviously did it himself, but the time, the time devoted to it must have been absolutely unbelievable. I mean, just, just crazy to get it to be done.

• 1:09:56Speaker 03

Based on their bio, they are knowledgeable about this, right? They do motorsports, CAD, designing, like they're-

• 1:10:01Doug DeMuro?

Located in Massachusetts, but desperate to get out, like everybody in-

• 1:10:04Speaker 04

Andy, if you're listening, and you want to put a Maserati in a P38, let me know. DM Filippo.

• 1:10:11Doug DeMuro?

Andy, you want to get out of Massachusetts? Come to, come to Carlsbad or wherever the hell Nick lives and put a Maserati motor in his P38.

• 1:10:17Speaker 04

  How cool would that be?

• 1:10:18Doug DeMuro?

  It'd be pretty cool.

• 1:10:19Speaker 04

I'd rather do like an LS or something a little more reliable.

• 1:10:21Doug DeMuro?

  Right.

• 1:10:22Speaker 04

Just put five grand into the existing vehicle, though. I, I will accept any V8.

• 1:10:26Doug DeMuro?

When you showed up with the car at the shop, did the shop say, "You cannot abandon this car at this shop"?

• 1:10:31Speaker 04

  They, they had other-

• 1:10:32Doug DeMuro?

  Were you preempting?

• 1:10:33Speaker 04

I had been at that same shop a week before, and I picked up my wife in the SLR when she drove off her Kia.

• 1:10:38Doug DeMuro?

So they knew you were legit.

• 1:10:39Speaker 04

They knew I was legit, and I think they might have like rounded up a little here and there for it, but it's fine.

• 1:10:44Doug DeMuro?

  Uh, okay.

• 1:10:45Speaker 04

  They did a good job.

• 1:10:46Doug DeMuro?

Okay, we need to move on to questions. The questions are brought to you by the Northwest Territories Bear License Plate. It's so berry that it has a, it's shaped like a bear, and there is a bear in the toe. Whoa. Sean won't show me, but that's true. There's a bear on a bear. You ever see a bear on a bear?

• 1:11:07Speaker 04

Northwest Territories sounds like kind of a BS name for-

• 1:11:09Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:10Speaker 04

  State. I phoned it in.

• 1:11:12Doug DeMuro?

Not a state, but I agree with you.

• 1:11:13Speaker 04

Uh, what do they call it in Canada?

• 1:11:15Doug DeMuro?

  Well, a territory, actually.

• 1:11:16Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 1:11:16Doug DeMuro?

They're generally called provinces, but they also have territories.

• 1:11:19Speaker 04

Yeah, province, that's what I was looking for.

• 1:11:20Doug DeMuro?

Okay, but it's not, you know what, I'm gonna move on.

• 1:11:22Speaker 04

It doesn't, it's not worth it.

• 1:11:23Doug DeMuro?

It's not worth it. Okay, if you want to ask us a question, this week's questions were not amazing. So there were some good ones, but mostly they were not as good as I wish they were. So I'm gonna tell you again how to ask. Go to carsandbids.com, click on the community tab, scroll down. There'll be a post that says, "Ask us questions," and then ask your question. I do not only choose the highest upvoted questions. I generally choose the most controversial, the sink your teeth in and scare us questions. And so, that's what I'm looking for. Give us your good, if you have questions, give us good, feed us, feed us. We don't know what to talk about.

• 1:11:57Speaker 04

We don't, we run out of ideas so quickly.

• 1:11:59Doug DeMuro?

By the way, one thing I do want to say, before we get into questions, speaking of the audience, you know, the 993 Turbo thing all started with that car model.

• 1:12:08Speaker 03

  It did.

• 1:12:09Doug DeMuro?

  When over the summer.

• 1:12:10Speaker 03

  700 is happening, huh?

• 1:12:11Doug DeMuro?

Over the summer, or just at the end of the summer, some random viewer sent us, I took it home, because now it's on my desk with my other cars. But some random viewer sent us a 993 Turbo car model. And I still don't have any idea who it was. And that kind of kicked it off.

• 1:12:32Speaker 03

That did. And now we have a real full-size one.

• 1:12:35Doug DeMuro?

It's pretty, pretty wild. That literally is what happened.

• 1:12:38Speaker 03

God, that car looks so good.

• 1:12:38Doug DeMuro?

And I still don't know who it was.

• 1:12:40Speaker 04

The pod has also willed a few cars into our existence. The SLR I asked for, the P38. So maybe Filippo opening up about the 991.1. Finally will it into Filippo's world.

• 1:12:51Speaker 03

Fingers crossed. Are your Turbo Twists hollow-spoke?

• 1:12:55Doug DeMuro?

My Turbo Twists are hollow-spoke. They call them the technology wheels. I'm not a Porsche guy, though.

• 1:13:00Speaker 04

Are you, are they the original wheels? Are they off in a barn somewhere?

• 1:13:05Speaker 03

  That's such a deep cut.

• 1:13:07Doug DeMuro?

I'm not even gonna, I'm not even gonna explain that one. Okay, first question from QuasiBrad. This is what we were talking about before. Is it appropriate to say Toyota was right to come out with the BZ4X? Obviously not a competitive car, but the market has switched away from EVs. And here Toyota is, having not developed a lot of money in EVs. Yeah.

• 1:13:23Speaker 03

No, you can still, you should have some pride. And having some pride as a company or a manufacturer means that you build good products. And the BZ4X now is okay. They've now posted.

• 1:13:36Doug DeMuro?

  Still not.

• 1:13:36Speaker 03

  It's a little better.

• 1:13:37Doug DeMuro?

  No.

• 1:13:37Speaker 03

But it was not a competitive product. It was not a good showing. It was not a good reflection of what Toyota can do. And they should still be embarrassed by it. Now, not investing a ton in it, smart decision.

• 1:13:48Doug DeMuro?

But that's strategic. It's like when Trump was like, not paying my taxes, that makes me smart. That's what Toyota did.

• 1:13:53Speaker 03

Just then don't build it, or build something.

• 1:13:55Doug DeMuro?

They had to, it was a compliance card. You can't sell in California if you don't have an EV.

• 1:13:58Speaker 04

And I mean, the Honda Prologue was another car that you ripped on. I see them around, and I think there's a lot of people that dislike Honda.

• 1:14:04Doug DeMuro?

  They were $199 a month.

• 1:14:06Speaker 04

Right. Well, they were cheap, but also people like, I like Hondas, I want an EV. This checks the two boxes I care about.

• 1:14:11Speaker 03

The BZ4X was so mediocre. They did have to build one, but they could have done better without investing that much more. They had to do a lot of work to get to that point.

• 1:14:18Doug DeMuro?

I completely agree with QuasiBrad's ethos. I think Toyota was brilliant. They had, they could have built a good car. And they said, no, we don't think this is the right time for an EV. They built a bad car cheaply. And in the end, and that's why Toyota, number one profitability. Hyundai, number two.

• 1:14:35Speaker 04

Was it, was this brilliant or was this just accidentally the right choice?

• 1:14:39Doug DeMuro?

Well Toyota has for years been announcing that they don't want to

• 1:14:41Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's true.

• 1:14:42Doug DeMuro?

So I think there was some, some actual strategy to it. Toyota, Toyota and the Trump administration have more in common than you might think at first blush.

• 1:14:49Speaker 03

I think that in the long term, they'll regret it.

• 1:14:51Speaker 04

The head of Toyota? Yeah. Wearing a Make America Great hat at a NASCAR event, I want to say?

• 1:14:56Speaker 03

  He sure.

• 1:14:57Doug DeMuro?

  Is that true?

• 1:14:58Speaker 03

  He sure did.

• 1:14:59Speaker 04

Like it not like, like Halloween level.

• 1:15:01Doug DeMuro?

It was, it was a wild. This is why my Sequoia has camo fenders.

• 1:15:05Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:15:05Doug DeMuro?

  The guy himself.

• 1:15:06Speaker 04

  Truly wild.

• 1:15:07Doug DeMuro?

This guy said, why can't we make the whole car camo? When I think of the person who like is celebrating the camo fenders on my car, that is what I think of.

• 1:15:15Speaker 04

Well, you might be right. It is not a surprise.

• 1:15:19Doug DeMuro?

Non-union labor stick and camo fenders.

• 1:15:21Speaker 03

He did fit in at that NASCAR race.

• 1:15:22Doug DeMuro?

That's amazing. Uh, okay. Next question. This is a good question. I'll let Filippo take some of this. From Quasi Brad. Oh. Who is Blake? The co-founder of Cars and Bids.

• 1:15:33Speaker 03

  He co-founded Cars and Bids.

• 1:15:34Doug DeMuro?

Completely understand if he wants to stay out of the spotlight, but can you share anything about how you know him or his background? Blake is a shadowy figure. Uh, he, he recently had a CLK GT-R seized from him.

• 1:15:47Doug DeMuro?

Filippo, tell us about Blake. Here is his profile.

• 1:15:49Speaker 03

Uh, Blake, co-founder of Cars and Bids with Doug. Uh, he just sold his GT4RS. Cool guy. That's all he'd want the people to know.

• 1:15:58Doug DeMuro?

But here's, here's the thing about Blake. Blake was my co-founder. He, he changed my life. He's, I've, I've worked with a lot of people. As you might imagine, I'm not the easiest person to work with.

• 1:16:09Doug DeMuro?

And I've worked with a lot of people over the years and Blake is probably the only person who I ever would ever start another business with. And, um, he's just incredibly knowledgeable and incredibly, uh, easy to work with and really, really a good operator. And he had the opportunity to exit when we took our investment three years ago. And so he's not, he's not around anymore. He doesn't have a role. He's moved on to other stuff where he's probably starting other businesses that are going to do great. Um, but he, uh, he had a, obviously a massive role. I, without him, we couldn't have put this business together.

• 1:16:41Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:16:41Doug DeMuro?

Uh, and so he's never really been in, in public. The initial plan was that he would kind of come with me to a And do stuff like that, but the investment happened pretty quick and and he never, you know, it didn't really happen. He's still kind of into cars. He kind of waxes and wanes with his car enthusiasm, but I think his first car was like a 300ZX. He was always into cars.

• 1:17:01Speaker 03

He had a 430. He had that Cayman GT4R.

• 1:17:03Doug DeMuro?

But his kids are like, he has a Bronco Raptor now. He like goes on off road trips. He, yeah, he's got a green Panamera Sporturismo, but his kids are kind of aging into that era where like, there's a lot of parental, like teen era, where there's a lot of activities and stuff. And so he's kind of, he's not around it. But we see him at Cars and Coffee. I don't know.

• 1:17:19Speaker 03

He's a close personal friend and a cool person who's very much not in the spotlight, although he probably deserves more of it.

• 1:17:24Doug DeMuro?

He texts me every so often and gives me ideas.

• 1:17:26Speaker 03

And there's no chance he listens to the podcast, so he'll never know.

• 1:17:29Doug DeMuro?

100%. I'd be shocked if he even knows we have a pod. Okay.

• 1:17:34Speaker 03

Number one automotive podcast, but hey.

• 1:17:36Doug DeMuro?

Next question from Bruce L. This is a, this is a grammar question, and I love a good grammar question, and I'm gonna take this one. I'm gonna take it far. If you had a Nissan Leaf and bought two, would you have Leafs or Leaves? Folks, this is one of my pet peeves.

• 1:17:51Speaker 03

  Yeah, same.

• 1:17:52Doug DeMuro?

It's a proper noun. Okay, so it doesn't pluralize into Leaves. It pluralizes into Leafs. And same with Prius. Everybody's like, Prii. Ha, ha, ha, Prii. I'm the first person to think of that. Ha, ha, ha, Prii. Priuses. Next question.

• 1:18:09Speaker 03

Didn't it tell you to put out a poll years ago?

• 1:18:12Doug DeMuro?

  I don't care what Toyota.

• 1:18:13Speaker 03

Oh, my gosh. They did a press release? They did a press release about this.

• 1:18:16Doug DeMuro?

I don't care what Toyota did.

• 1:18:18Speaker 03

They said that it's called, that a multiple Priuses is a, or Prii.

• 1:18:21Doug DeMuro?

20% of Reddit thinks that it's could space of instead of could apostrophe.

• 1:18:27Speaker 03

  Hey, I don't do that.

• 1:18:28Doug DeMuro?

No, you went to Northwestern. I don't care what people think it is. I'm telling you what it is.

• 1:18:34Speaker 03

Apparently dictionary.com updated Prius to reflect this in 2011. That's Prii. No, I agree with you. It's a, you don't.

• 1:18:40Doug DeMuro?

It only got 25% of the votes.

• 1:18:42Speaker 03

  I know, right?

• 1:18:42Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:43Speaker 03

But there was a press release about this.

• 1:18:45Speaker 04

As someone who works in marketing, I can't tell you how much of marketing is just utter BS. Like, how many people had to sign off on that press release? And we're like, "We got this great campaign activation. We're gonna make people vote and we're gonna hit Gen Z."

• 1:18:58Doug DeMuro?

And then PR sends it out to journalists, and I'm sure that made Autoblog, it was a whole thing.

• 1:19:03Speaker 04

They were all patting themselves on the back.

• 1:19:04Doug DeMuro?

It was just people creating stuff to do.

• 1:19:07Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I'm proud of myself for 14 years later, remember?

• 1:19:10Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's...

• 1:19:11Doug DeMuro?

Nonetheless, the answer is Priuses, the answer is Leafs, the answer is, if it's a proper noun, when you pluralize it, you just add an S. And by the way, you don't add an apostrophe.

• 1:19:19Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:19:20Doug DeMuro?

You know, one of the things that I think is the craziest, almost nobody on the internet thinks the plural of Ferrari is simply Ferraris. It's Ferrari apostrophe S. I don't know why they can't just put the S on there. They have to put an apostrophe? But you don't need it there, it's not for that.

• 1:19:37Speaker 03

There are places where it gets annoying. Genesises, like Genesis plural, gets annoying.

• 1:19:42Doug DeMuro?

  If it ends with S.

• 1:19:43Speaker 03

  It is what it is.

• 1:19:44Doug DeMuro?

I'll tell you something else. I'll tell you something else. From working in the industry, when I worked at Porsche, you never pluralized a model name. And I, when I write car names, I never pluralize.

• 1:19:53Speaker 04

  Well, Genesis is a...

• 1:19:54Doug DeMuro?

Genesis Models is what you would say. When I worked at Porsche, you would never write a communication where you said Porsches. Never. You wrote Porsche Models. And I guarantee other brands think that. You will not find a press release, I promise you, for Mercedes-Benz that says Mercedes-Benzes. They would say Mercedes-Benz Models. They want the name of the company to stand alone. And that's how, when I'm writing about cars, that's how I write about, yes.

• 1:20:15Speaker 04

What if Porsche corporate owned Porsche Models? So would they say Porsche's Porsche's Porsche Models?

• 1:20:25Doug DeMuro?

Do you have any idea what he's talking about?

• 1:20:27Speaker 04

It would be Porsche with an apostrophe S to show that Porsche owns the Porsche.

• 1:20:32Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, Porsche apostrophe S was okay, because I mean, you couldn't...

• 1:20:36Speaker 03

  Right, belonging to Porsche.

• 1:20:38Speaker 04

Porsche, Porsche, it's like the Buffalo thing. Buffalo, Buffalo, Buffalo.

• 1:20:42Doug DeMuro?

  It's not like that.

• 1:20:42Speaker 04

  Porsche, Porsche, Porsches.

• 1:20:43Speaker 03

The Porsche Models belong to Porsche.

• 1:20:46Doug DeMuro?

We can't continue this. Okay, next question, and this is a good one, actually, from Kane720. "Dude, Doug, you always talk about how cars that are initially hated or disliked often become desirable over time. Do you think this will happen with the new Prelude?" No. Next question, from Brit.

• 1:21:01Speaker 03

That's not true. It will eventually cost this to be worth as much as a Civic.

• 1:21:07Doug DeMuro?

I think it will be hated forever.

• 1:21:09Speaker 04

The Supra did it. The Supra somehow went from kinda hated to starting to ascend. I don't see this one.

• 1:21:16Speaker 03

At some point, all depreciation curves kinda equalize.

• 1:21:19Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but it still won't be a desirable car. That's the real problem.

• 1:21:23Speaker 03

It'll be desirable in the same way that every Honda model is desirable-ish.

• 1:21:26Doug DeMuro?

Right, as an affordable used car.

• 1:21:29Speaker 03

  Reliable car.

• 1:21:30Doug DeMuro?

So will it someday be beloved? Yes, by people who are trying to get to work. It will never be a car that inspires passion.

• 1:21:38Speaker 03

Did you see that there are some dealers that are trying to charge an ADM over sticker for Prelude?

• 1:21:43Doug DeMuro?

That was happening with ID Buzz the first day.

• 1:21:45Speaker 03

But ID Buzz was a desirable vehicle for the first day.

• 1:21:49Speaker 04

I agree. The dealers are really scratching.

• 1:21:50Doug DeMuro?

The dealers are trying to capitalize on like the nine people who maybe aren't gonna cross shop and are just gonna do it. But within 40 minutes, they're 10 grand over right now, they're gonna be 10 grand under in literally 40 minutes.

• 1:22:01Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:22:02Doug DeMuro?

When this podcast is live next week, they're gonna be 10 grand under.

• 1:22:05Speaker 03

Once. Faster the car goes 0 to 60.

• 1:22:08Doug DeMuro?

Dear Doug from Brick Lynn, since you enjoy the Countach, would you ever consider purchasing a Chazetta Marauder V16T? If one came up for sale, it has more cam shafts, more cylinder, etc. No. Next question.

• 1:22:19Speaker 03

  Why not?

• 1:22:20Doug DeMuro?

Because it's not serviceable. One of the things I like, you know, the Countach is actually kinda funny. Like, it has this rep for being difficult to own, and I'm sure it is. Mine's been okay, but like, there are people who can work on them, and the parts are pretty available. I'm actually shocked. We've never had parts finding trouble.

• 1:22:37Doug DeMuro?

  The Chazetta Marauder V16T.

• 1:22:39Speaker 03

  Yeah, what's that based on?

• 1:22:41Doug DeMuro?

  I don't even know. I don't think anything.

• 1:22:45Speaker 03

I'm scared to Google it, because I don't know how to stall.

• 1:22:48Doug DeMuro?

Okay, next question from Mindcut2way722. Doug, once you finally.

• 1:22:59Doug DeMuro?

  Once he finally...

• 1:23:00Speaker 04

722, I have no idea what idea those consonants were that he just said.

• 1:23:05Speaker 03

Are you just thinking of the...

• 1:23:07Speaker 04

Like it just sounded like chippers.

• 1:23:08Speaker 03

  722.

• 1:23:10Speaker 04

Kat like walked over the keyboard as he was signing up for cars and beds.

• 1:23:15Doug DeMuro?

Once, once Targus finally bought his 993, can he go through all the other available cars he passed on before making his move? And comment on why he chose not to buy them. Felipe, why don't you go through this a little?

• 1:23:25Speaker 03

Yeah, do you want to send me a list? Well, we'll go through it one by one.

• 1:23:27Speaker 04

What else have Felipe's cars that he didn't buy?

• 1:23:29Doug DeMuro?

What else did I think about? Is he talking, you think he's talking specific 993s?

• 1:23:32Speaker 03

Why did you not buy that specific car?

• 1:23:34Doug DeMuro?

They were a lot that came up, but I actually, I bought this car almost immediately after I started the whole thing. Like, I started joking on the pod with the model car, I don't know when, probably in August, but I bought this car October 5th, October 4th. So, um, I passed on a lot of cars because I already had one and I didn't need two.

• 1:23:51Speaker 03

Can we give a quick shout out to one of our team members, Michael Chris Quaule, who found it for you?

• 1:23:55Doug DeMuro?

This guy, Michael, sends me a note. He's one of our team members.

• 1:23:58Speaker 03

He's one of the auction managers of Cars and Beds. If you're a seller, you maybe work with him.

• 1:24:01Doug DeMuro?

He's an employee of the company. We call them team members so they feel better about them.

• 1:24:05Speaker 03

  As a family?

• 1:24:05Doug DeMuro?

Some of these companies in there, like, like, what do they call them at Disney? That's so ridiculous.

• 1:24:09Speaker 03

  Cast members.

• 1:24:09Doug DeMuro?

  Right, right.

• 1:24:10Speaker 03

  It's so embarrassing.

• 1:24:11Doug DeMuro?

But they feel good about it.

• 1:24:13Speaker 03

  We love Michael.

• 1:24:14Doug DeMuro?

I do love Michael, especially because he sends me a message. I've been looking for 993 turbos and I had found one that had odometer issues. And since then, others have come up with odometer issues, including some high-profile ones. And, uh, and so anyway, I found one that had odometer issues and I was pretty dismayed. I don't like to buy cars that are really publicly available, like, you know, advertised forever and all that. And he sends me this one and he's like, hey, you know, this VIN just populated on their, on their DMS, on their backend software, this dealership. I think they have one. They haven't posted it yet, but it's like starting to show up in their software. And that was all that I needed. And within an hour, I owned the car and they never posted it on their website. It was a good situation.

• 1:24:55Speaker 03

Incredible strategy. Hey, Michael, work some magic on 991, please.

• 1:24:58Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, not Michael. We need a 991.1 manual.

• 1:25:04Speaker 03

Could I have just slacked you? Yeah, but it's better.

• 1:25:07Doug DeMuro?

  You think he watches?

• 1:25:08Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:25:08Doug DeMuro?

Oh, of course, because he knew about this and that. Okay.

• 1:25:11Speaker 04

There was a moment where you hadn't announced this, Kenan hadn't announced his SL65, and we had these secret cars that we like couldn't talk about.

• 1:25:19Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:25:19Speaker 04

  Very frustrating.

• 1:25:20Speaker 03

You hadn't announced SLR despite it being parked.

• 1:25:22Speaker 04

No, I mean, I was being tongue in cheek about it, but everyone know.

• 1:25:29Doug DeMuro?

Okay, here's a really good question from Gianni P. And Nick, I'll actually let you take this.

• 1:25:35Doug DeMuro?

Dear Doug, if you had made your big boy money when you were in your early twenties, what kind of irresponsible car enthusiast decisions would you have likely made?

• 1:25:41Speaker 04

  Oh, good lord.

• 1:25:42Speaker 03

  That's a great question.

• 1:25:43Doug DeMuro?

It's a great question. I started making decent money pretty early. I had a bunch of jobs, and I was just working like hustling like crazy. And I made a lot of mistakes even then. Bought rusty cars. I didn't know about rust. I didn't grow up in a place with rust. You know, but you make those mistakes. And honestly, I think it really helps you learn about what to do later better. And also, I had to learn a lot about personal finance. Nobody I have ever known in my entire life is in sort of my financial situation. I had to really learn a lot of that stuff. And as a result of that, when I finally did get this, obviously, this big infusion of money when the business sold, I was prepared. And I was smart with it. And it's in index funds, and it's in bonds, and a couple of crazy cars, but good value ones. However, if I had been in my twenties,

• 1:26:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:26:28Doug DeMuro?

what would have happened? What do you think? What would you have gotten?

• 1:26:31Speaker 04

I, well, in my twenties, I was big into modding cars. And I, there were multiple cars where I spent more on modifications than the car was worth. So I absolutely would have, I would have been the idiot recommissioning a 957. And like just, like whatever I, for whatever reason, I had a mental barrier that by selling a car and buying a car was too much. And like, if that was a bad financial thing, like you're supposed to hold on to your cars forever.

• 1:26:55Doug DeMuro?

Right, like you do with a stock.

• 1:26:57Speaker 03

They instilled in you in the Midwest.

• 1:26:59Speaker 04

They instilled that four years is the minimum increment in which you can keep a car. And so I would have just modded whatever I had when I got that money, regardless of whether it was a Ford Focus or...

• 1:27:09Doug DeMuro?

What would you have gotten, though?

• 1:27:12Speaker 04

Let's see, in my twenties, I was still big into Audis, so probably like an RA.

• 1:27:16Doug DeMuro?

What, we would have been, it would have been like 2008.

• 1:27:18Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:27:18Speaker 03

  Good time.

• 1:27:19Speaker 04

That was peak car. 2008 would have been a good time.

• 1:27:22Doug DeMuro?

We would have screwed it up, too.

• 1:27:23Speaker 04

  Mercy S.

• 1:27:23Doug DeMuro?

We should have bought an F40, but we would have bought dumb stuff.

• 1:27:26Speaker 03

He would have had an E60 M5.

• 1:27:28Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, that's the kind of stuff we probably would have bought because I wasn't as into like the older stuff and I didn't know that we were living in this peak car era.

• 1:27:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:27:35Doug DeMuro?

Would I have bought a Ford GT? I don't think so. I probably would have. I don't know. It's hard to know.

• 1:27:39Speaker 03

  Nobody else did either.

• 1:27:40Doug DeMuro?

If you had a lot of money in 08, you would have hoped that you would have bought an F40 and F50, etc.

• 1:27:47Speaker 05

• 1:28:17Speaker 04

I imagine it's a lot like the crypto and course seller dudes are now. Like they just sort of buy like a McLaren or like, are they buying tasteful stuff? Probably not.

• 1:28:26Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Yeah. I don't know that I would have had the wherewithal to put it together that I should. The good news is in 08, you could have, you could have dumb lucked into some pretty good stuff because like the 430, the Scud, like all those cars, which turned out to be special cars and good investments.

• 1:28:42Speaker 03

  Agreed.

• 1:28:43Doug DeMuro?

Probably would have had a G. Probably would have bought a new Range.

• 1:28:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:28:45Doug DeMuro?

  For sure.

• 1:28:46Speaker 03

That would have been a smart decision. I support it.

• 1:28:48Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, wow. That's nice.

• 1:28:50Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:28:51Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 1:28:52Speaker 03

I'm looking at the 05 to 09 cars that we have live right now. Viper, SRT10, Arnage.

• 1:28:57Doug DeMuro?

God, I don't know. You know what I would have done?

• 1:28:59Speaker 03

  Kuntel GT.

• 1:29:00Doug DeMuro?

I would have taken an E90 BMW and put a Maserati.

• 1:29:03Speaker 03

  You would have.

• 1:29:03Speaker 04

  If I had unlimited monies.

• 1:29:05Speaker 03

  You would have.

• 1:29:06Doug DeMuro?

Unlimited. Well, certainly it's not unlimited monies, but you could have done it for that amount.

• 1:29:10Speaker 04

What you sold the company for, right?

• 1:29:11Doug DeMuro?

  Unlimited. That's how it works.

• 1:29:14Speaker 04

That's where Blake really is. He's out spending unlimited dollars.

• 1:29:17Doug DeMuro?

Blake took all the damn money. Okay, that's our pod. Do you have anything you want to add? You're here. Go on Nick's YouTube channel.

• 1:29:25Speaker 04

I'm gonna steal Filippo's question that we didn't ask, which is, it's Thanksgiving tomorrow or yesterday, depending on when you're watching this.

• 1:29:31Speaker 03

  Two days ago.

• 1:29:32Speaker 04

  Two days ago.

• 1:29:33Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:33Speaker 04

It was Thanksgiving at some point.

• 1:29:35Doug DeMuro?

  At some point, yeah.

• 1:29:36Speaker 04

  What are you grateful for?

• 1:29:37Doug DeMuro?

  What am I grateful for?

• 1:29:38Speaker 04

  Car wise.

• 1:29:39Doug DeMuro?

Filippo, you're not even an American, but we'll let you take this.

• 1:29:41Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 1:29:42Doug DeMuro?

  Are you an American?

• 1:29:42Speaker 03

  I'm an American citizen, yes.

• 1:29:43Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:29:44Speaker 03

  Naturalized.

• 1:29:45Doug DeMuro?

What was it like at the? Thing. Did you have to like recite the pledge and all?

• 1:29:49Speaker 03

Uh, you, you have to do a bunch of interviews. There is that like, I'm proud to be an American song that plays.

• 1:29:55Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Do they teach you history? Like, do you have to tell them about?

• 1:29:57Speaker 03

Well, I had gone to school in the US from third grade on. My understanding of American history was pretty decent by that point.

• 1:30:03Doug DeMuro?

What do you think about Thanksgiving as an, as a, someone who's not a native born American? Like, do you, are you more proud about America or are you less proud?

• 1:30:11Speaker 03

Mostly I'm just even more confused by Canadian Thanksgiving. Think about it. It's in October. What are they really celebrating?

• 1:30:18Doug DeMuro?

They have things to give things. They're Canadian. They're thankful for everything.

• 1:30:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:30:21Doug DeMuro?

Okay. Uh, what are you grateful for, Filippo?

• 1:30:23Speaker 03

  Car wise.

• 1:30:25Doug DeMuro?

  Or non, if you want.

• 1:30:26Speaker 03

Think about this. I'll, I'll ponder. You go ahead.

• 1:30:29Doug DeMuro?

I don't, Doug goes first. Uh, thankful, I, what I'm thankful for, I'll tell you this, is the German factory workers who created for us the 993 twin turbo. Wow. They, they gave us, uh, real specialness.

• 1:30:43Speaker 03

It's really a man of the people move for you to thank the factory workers, not the engineers. I'm glad. They need, they need recognition.

• 1:30:49Doug DeMuro?

The engineers, I'm not sure what they did. They put a lot of power in this thing that was created 20 years earlier. The factory workers are the ones who built the car. I'll tell you something. I'll tell you this. I've been to that factory in Zuffenhausen in Stuttgart. You're thinking, which is, where is it? Is it in Zuffenhausen or in Stuttgart? I don't know. I've been there. I still don't understand the difference. But it's the only place I ever saw a vending machine for cigarettes. And so God love those factory workers. Nick, what do you got?

• 1:31:13Speaker 04

Think, I'm gonna go with, since this is airing in the future, I'm grateful to whoever's taking their notch off my hat. I appreciate you. Please have fun with it and, uh, best of luck.

• 1:31:26Speaker 03

Best of luck. Only three days to go at time of.

• 1:31:29Speaker 04

Three days to go, but, um, honestly, I'm, I'm grateful for our friend group. I'll be, I'll be serious here for a second. Well, it's. We, we have gotten into an unhealthy dynamic of enabling each other's worst decisions.

• 1:31:40Speaker 03

  And peer pressuring.

• 1:31:41Speaker 04

However, this group, like, it's so amazing. And I'm considering the extended group, including people not always on the pod, but like in our orbit. It's so, even like Saturday, Cars and Coffee, like, it was just such a, there's some stressful things going on outside of work and it's just like, or outside of.

• 1:31:56Doug DeMuro?

And it was just like good to hang out and chit chat and like just the best.

• 1:32:01Speaker 03

  It's it's wonderful.

• 1:32:03Doug DeMuro?

It was. It was wonderful. And Cars and Coffee, of course, goes from eight to 10 and Filippo shows up at about 6:45 and leaves by 8:15.

• 1:32:08Speaker 03

So it's nice to see him there. I go for the solid two hours from 7:30 to 9:30.

• 1:32:12Doug DeMuro?

  The jujitsu can overlap.

• 1:32:13Speaker 03

Yes, briefly. I don't think I saw Nick, but we were there at the same time.

• 1:32:17Doug DeMuro?

I agree with you. It's it is nice to have car enthusiast people. And if you're out there and you don't have car enthusiast people, we are proud that once a week we get to come and be your car enthusiast people for a little while.

• 1:32:27Speaker 03

  Quite grateful for that.

• 1:32:28Doug DeMuro?

When you're collabing with the Avance people, which are trying to bring like car community to different cities, like it's a pretty cool concept.

• 1:32:34Speaker 03

Absolutely. It's the best. All I could, I mean, I just didn't, it's so great to be part of like cars have been a part of my life forever. I've always been into cars, but they weren't part of my like day to day life. A lot of my former coworkers have no clue that I'm into cars. My close friends do, but like it was kind of tangential to my relationship with them. And it's so cool to hear Cars and Bids and the office and then outside of office life that finally become a part of both my like professional and personal and friendship.

• 1:33:00Doug DeMuro?

You're out here driving virages for work.

• 1:33:02Speaker 03

Driving virages for work. What more can you want?

• 1:33:04Doug DeMuro?

I have this theory that I don't ever want to work anywhere where license plates aren't clanging, like that distinctive sound, like everywhere I've worked, dealerships, the factory, the OE, the corporate office and here, we're all, there's always some, and license plate. And that sound, you only know if you're in the car business. You know what I mean? Otherwise, it may be the DMV, but I would work there too.

• 1:33:24Speaker 03

  I would work, I imagine.

• 1:33:25Doug DeMuro?

  It'd be great.

• 1:33:26Speaker 03

You could set aside license plates for yourself and for all of us.

• 1:33:28Doug DeMuro?

Tournament of Roses plates. By the way, one thing I want to say about my 993, pull up the rear picture of Nick's Arnage here, that one of the rear photos. Nick, Nick got his license plate, his Yosemite plate is one UBR 763. I ordered the Yosemite plates for my 993 and I got one UBR 910.

• 1:33:43Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:33:43Doug DeMuro?

If I had gotten one UBR 911, it would have looked like a boomer vanity plate, one Uber 911. So I'm thrilled I didn't get it, but it was really close.

• 1:33:52Speaker 03

  Yeah, so close.

• 1:33:52Doug DeMuro?

It's crazy that, I mean, these were months apart and like what? They don't issue a lot of Yosemite plates.

• 1:33:57Speaker 03

They should. It's a nice looking one.

• 1:33:59Doug DeMuro?

  It's the best.

• 1:33:59Speaker 03

Did you see my plate frame too?

• 1:34:01Doug DeMuro?

Although there is now a San Francisco 49ers, we're going long. I don't know what we're doing here. There's now a San Francisco 49ers license plate. You don't want to get into this? California, if you're a Niners fan like Nick is, you can go get a 49ers license plate. It's available. Go out there and pick one up.

• 1:34:16Speaker 03

  Faithful to state park.

• 1:34:18Doug DeMuro?

  Faithful to state park.

• 1:34:19Speaker 03

  By the way.

• 1:34:19Doug DeMuro?

That's what every 49ers fan cheers.

• 1:34:22Speaker 03

Can we just point something out? In this image from the 49ers Foundation and from the DMV, 2022 sticker. They've been holding on to this mock-up for a while.

• 1:34:33Doug DeMuro?

It's not, it's not the 49ers fault. It took California forever. The 49ers got the number, correct number of applications a year and a half ago, and it took them that long to simply place a logo on a license plate. California is so effed up. I'm done with it. All right, anyway, goodbye, everybody.

• 1:34:52Speaker 03

  Goodbye. Happy Thanksgiving.
