MBMBaM 745: 2 Year 2 Naming

We think it was pretty obvious that our growling stomachs had an outsized impact on the decision last week, so we’re continuing the year naming discussion. There's so many rhyme schemes we didn't even consider, like saying "und" a hundred times, so we're doing our due diligence. Buckle in, we’ll get there! Suggested talking points: Not Overdrive Guys, We're All on Rhyme Zone, What does Fish Wife Mean to You, Nothing with Chew or Depth, Intangible Knives, Please Don't Bring Change Palestine Children's Relief Fund: https://www.pcrf.net/

Speaker names marked ? are inferred from speaking time and the show’s known hosts — they are not voice-verified.

The McElroy brothers are not experts and their advice should never be followed. Travis insists he's a sexpert, but if there's a degree on his wall, I haven't seen it. Also, this show isn't for kids, which I mention only so the babies out there will know how cool they are for listening. What's up, you cool baby?

• 1:10Travis McElroy?

Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. We'll try again.

• 1:16Travis McElroy?

  Nobody liked that one.

• 1:18Griffin McElroy?

It's not that nobody liked it. Let's unpack it. Let's unpack it. Let's take it out and unpack it.

• 1:24Travis McElroy?

  Nobody liked.

• 1:25Griffin McElroy?

It's not that no one didn't like tummy buddy time or tummy buddy life.

• 1:30Travis McElroy?

My wife, I told my wife that we had done it and she looked at me. Oh, the sadness.

• 1:36Travis McElroy?

The, the, the energy from my wife was very much like, I'm trying so hard to support you in this, but I have to be honest.

• 1:43Griffin McElroy?

That was it. I'll tell you what it, I don't think.

• 1:46Travis McElroy?

And then from there, the sort of like mind virus, I feel like those bad vibes from our wives emanated to like when we told people we pay to think we're funny.

• 1:57Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 1:58Travis McElroy?

And they were like, I don't know.

• 2:01Travis McElroy?

And then we told our staff and they didn't like it either.

• 2:03Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, nobody liked it.

• 2:05Griffin McElroy?

And then we did start to get a lot of sort of like anatomically correct sort of stomach stuff that.

• 2:13Travis McElroy?

  There's some for discussion.

• 2:15Griffin McElroy?

There is some discussions that I would rather I've actually worked pretty hard, I would say to, to remove myself from. It's just that I don't think people got it. I don't think a lot of people, they say tummy buddy life, that doesn't mean anything. But then what I would come back to you with is if it means nothing, maybe it means everything.

• 2:38Travis McElroy?

I, here's why, the only thing I'm sad about it is reopening this is one, I hate.

• 2:47Travis McElroy?

  I hate.

• 2:49Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 2:49Travis McElroy?

I hate that we all kinda knew that we had to try again and that sucked. It sucked to get on this call knowing that we had to do it again.

• 2:58Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 2:58Travis McElroy?

We had to start over. But the other thing that sucked is last night I had the idea of a cookbook called Tummy Buddy Tempters. And it, we would ask all of our podcasting friends.

• 3:09Griffin McElroy?

  Sure.

• 3:09Travis McElroy?

To give us one great recipe and it would be like a whole cookbook of tummy buddy tempters.

• 3:15Griffin McElroy?

  That's good.

• 3:15Travis McElroy?

There's a precedent set five years ago.

• 3:18Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 3:19Griffin McElroy?

  Sure, sure.

• 3:19Travis McElroy?

  Double name here.

• 3:20Griffin McElroy?

Oh baby, this is not the, I feel no, we made this shit up. There's no rules just right. And it's not sparking joy inside of me personally. I don't think it is for you two either.

• 3:32Travis McElroy?

  I, here's what I.

• 3:32Griffin McElroy?

So fuck it. But that was, it was two hours plus change of recording where we kept talking about how hungry we were. And then we ended up picking tummy buddy life. Do you think maybe those two things are, maybe one begat the other?

• 3:48Travis McElroy?

I'm, I'm following the, I'm following the theme though a little bit. Cause like dare to care. I am daring to care that nobody liked the theme. And I'm daring to care about doing a better job, you know, with it.

• 4:02Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 4:02Travis McElroy?

  On it.

• 4:03Griffin McElroy?

I care so much about this process that I'm willing to subject myself to it again in the span of about four days.

• 4:13Travis McElroy?

I think we should see tummy buddy life for what it was, a cry for help.

• 4:21Travis McElroy?

From our stomachs saying, please eat, eat and try again.

• 4:26Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 4:27Travis McElroy?

Please dare to care about your podcast and live the tummy buddy life.

• 4:31Travis McElroy?

I feel bad for everybody that rushed out to get their tummy buddy life tattoos.

• 4:36Griffin McElroy?

Oh, you should have known. I'll say this also about the response we've gotten so far. We can handle the criticism. It's not the criticism, uh, it's the people who jumped onto it so fast without recognizing this is clearly first thought, not best thought.

• 4:54Travis McElroy?

  Well, not really first thought.

• 4:56Griffin McElroy?

No, there was two hours of generative sort of like pro- process.

• 5:01Travis McElroy?

  Many, many other thoughts.

• 5:01Griffin McElroy?

That went into it. Um, now I'll start by saying this. I don't have any ideas.

• 5:07Travis McElroy?

  Okay, interesting.

• 5:08Travis McElroy?

  What about 20 honey high?

• 5:10Travis McElroy?

  No way, hold on.

• 5:11Travis McElroy?

  Back to business.

• 5:12Travis McElroy?

No way. Now go on. Now come on, are we sure? Cause there's like one more chance. I feel like we could just be like.

• 5:20Griffin McElroy?

Just kidding. It's 20 hu- tummy buddy life. Yeah, it's not too late. This is cool because now we're standing on a different cliff's edge.

• 5:28Travis McElroy?

  Like a quantum.

• 5:29Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, yeah. Where we could say, just kidding, tummy buddy life rules actually.

• 5:36Griffin McElroy?

And we're not about to do a part two naming of the year. Too long, two hour episode.

• 5:41Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 5:44Travis McElroy?

  20 Barney five.

• 5:46Griffin McElroy?

Now, now that we've let if into the room.

• 5:51Griffin McElroy?

  20 love my wife.

• 5:54Travis McElroy?

  20 love my wife?

• 5:55Griffin McElroy?

No one took umbrage with la- the if with the si- the, it would be very generous to call it. That was not the problem at all, and we understand that. The slant rhyme, people are into it and they accept it, which really I think it's a whole new ballgame if we're letting if in there. Fill your life with laughter and love.

• 6:14Travis McElroy?

No, 20 un- under life, 20 under life, what lies below?

• 6:20Travis McElroy?

  Ooh.

• 6:21Travis McElroy?

20 under life, what lies below?

• 6:23Griffin McElroy?

  That's cool.

• 6:24Travis McElroy?

  That's cool.

• 6:25Griffin McElroy?

  20 after life.

• 6:26Travis McElroy?

We didn't come up with that last time. Uh, this is good. We got all the bad stuff that last time. 20 under life.

• 6:32Travis McElroy?

  20 after life.

• 6:34Griffin McElroy?

  20 after life.

• 6:35Travis McElroy?

Af- no, und- und- und- undy, 20.

• 6:39Griffin McElroy?

Oh, you're right. Undy, 20, United States.

• 6:41Travis McElroy?

  Now it makes sense. Yeah.

• 6:42Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah, for sure. 20, 20.

• 6:44Travis McElroy?

  20, 20 under life.

• 6:47Griffin McElroy?

  20 hunting knife.

• 6:50Griffin McElroy?

  Long and beautiful.

• 6:53Travis McElroy?

  Long and strong.

• 6:54Griffin McElroy?

Long and strong. 20 pocket knife.

• 6:59Travis McElroy?

  Und, und, und, und.

• 7:00Griffin McElroy?

  Und, und, und, und.

• 7:02Travis McElroy?

  20 under knife.

• 7:03Griffin McElroy?

Hey, gang, and you listening at home, there's gonna be a lot of just sort of undulate, a lot of just kind of like sound jazz.

• 7:10Travis McElroy?

You called out the thunder. Well, now you got it.

• 7:13Griffin McElroy?

By the end of this episode, you'll be praying for tummy buddy life, dare to care. By the end of this episode, you'll be writhing on the floor in agony, praying for 20 tummy buddy life. A sweet self tummy buddy life would be.

• 7:29Travis McElroy?

That theme is bleeding out in the corner. You had your chance.

• 7:32Griffin McElroy?

  You had it.

• 7:32Travis McElroy?

It's a corpse. You don't get tummy buddy life. You don't deserve it.

• 7:36Travis McElroy?

  20 pirates life.

• 7:39Travis McElroy?

  Und, und, und, und, un.

• 7:45Griffin McElroy?

  Why, why, un, aunty?

• 7:47Travis McElroy?

  It's 20, 20. It's a rhyming game.

• 7:51Travis McElroy?

  20 honey knife.

• 7:54Travis McElroy?

  20 honey life.

• 7:58Travis McElroy?

  20 under knife.

• 8:00Griffin McElroy?

What's an under? You're really all about under. So maybe we should stick with that first and then jazz the life.

• 8:07Travis McElroy?

  Undy?

• 8:10Griffin McElroy?

I'm not. The problem with tummy life also is that there was gonna be a lot of expectation of my tummy being out or my tummy being featured or paid attention to in any way. I don't want to turn the conversation towards my undies. I simply do not.

• 8:24Travis McElroy?

  Yes, that fair, fair.

• 8:26Griffin McElroy?

  I simply do not.

• 8:27Travis McElroy?

I would like to revisit 20 overdrive.

• 8:31Griffin McElroy?

  I like 20 overdrive a lot.

• 8:33Travis McElroy?

But if we do that now, where's the episode? Do you know what I mean?

• 8:37Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. I could, I mean, it could just be part of this episode.

• 8:41Travis McElroy?

I also made a question last.

• 8:43Travis McElroy?

  20 overdrive, you say?

• 8:45Griffin McElroy?

  What?

• 8:46Travis McElroy?

You know what? I didn't think it was funny last time, and I still don't think it's funny, guys.

• 8:51Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 8:51Travis McElroy?

I'm sorry. It sounds like if you saw a poster of that and you saw us like revving engines, you would think that they, you know, they, they legally forced the, uh, uh, kids in the hall to change their name or something. We were, it just, I.

• 9:12Travis McElroy?

20 thunder life. Time to strike.

• 9:17Travis McElroy?

Thunderlife? We can't live up to this macho tone. This is what I'm saying. Overdrive. We can't, we're not overdrive guys.

• 9:25Griffin McElroy?

There's fucking nothing about us that, and can I tell you the hypocrisy of Tubby Buddy life as long as we're shitting on it?

• 9:32Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 9:32Griffin McElroy?

I'm not gonna have lunch with anyone this year.

• 9:35Travis McElroy?

  No, god no.

• 9:36Griffin McElroy?

I don't wanna do that. It's, I, I can appreciate the like, trying to have it mean something, make it mean something. But I'm not gonna, I don't wanna do that.

• 9:46Travis McElroy?

  20 cozy life. Live comfortably.

• 9:49Griffin McElroy?

Not an option for a lot of people. Not, not doable.

• 9:56Travis McElroy?

20 cottage life. Wonder knife. Now.

• 10:02Griffin McElroy?

There's not as many I-fords as I thought.

• 10:04Travis McElroy?

20 Wonder, 20 Wonder knife. Find your blade. Hmm.

• 10:10Griffin McElroy?

Take up arms. What does find your blade mean to you?

• 10:14Travis McElroy?

On the edge. Yes, on the edge. Ooh, on the edge is even, on the edge of glory.

• 10:18Griffin McElroy?

On the edge is ba, okay, on the edge means bad. Feels kinda cool. Like, it feels kinda cool to, to see that.

• 10:27Travis McElroy?

  20 Thunder knife?

• 10:29Griffin McElroy?

20, 20 something knife on the edge. If we decide what that means and how it could be good for us.

• 10:37Travis McElroy?

I don't want people to make a thing out of bringing knives to shit.

• 10:41Griffin McElroy?

Definitely, thank you so much. God damn, there's, why, what is it about this year?

• 10:46Travis McElroy?

20 cosplay knife, just for looks.

• 10:50Griffin McElroy?

What is it about this year where every word we come up with sounds so dangerous or so unappealing? Is it just this, this, is it just I've? Is it just I've, I've? Do we step away from that entirely?

• 11:03Travis McElroy?

Is it the I've? Is I've strife?

• 11:05Griffin McElroy?

  I've.

• 11:06Travis McElroy?

  Yeah, knife, strife.

• 11:09Griffin McElroy?

  Lot of people

• 11:12Griffin McElroy?

were pointing out that 25 is a quarter century. So, so something along the lines of 20 quarter.

• 11:20Griffin McElroy?

  20 quarter.

• 11:21Travis McElroy?

  20 quarter.

• 11:22Griffin McElroy?

There's not a lot of words that rhyme with order, but, but, what I'll tell you about 20 quarter is it frees us from the three syllable un-uni. 20 quarter, get, go to.

• 11:35Travis McElroy?

So, 25 is the silver jubilee. So maybe 20 sylve.

• 11:41Travis McElroy?

  Twenty butter knife.

• 11:44Travis McElroy?

  Twenty butter knife?

• 11:47Travis McElroy?

  I'm, I'm on a rhyme zone.

• 11:49Travis McElroy?

  Oh.

• 11:49Griffin McElroy?

  We're all on rhyme zone.

• 11:53Travis McElroy?

Oh, midlife. What about, uh, crisis midlife?

• 11:57Travis McElroy?

  Um.

• 11:58Travis McElroy?

  Twenty fish wife.

• 12:00Travis McElroy?

Twenty fish wife? What's that mean to you?

• 12:02Travis McElroy?

  Well. Twenty putty knife.

• 12:06Griffin McElroy?

Stop saying different kinds of knives, please.

• 12:09Travis McElroy?

We're not having larger than life.

• 12:12Griffin McElroy?

Twenty larger, twenty, twenty, larger than life.

• 12:17Travis McElroy?

  No. Twenty, twenty five.

• 12:19Griffin McElroy?

  Or twenty quarter.

• 12:22Travis McElroy?

Twenty switchblade knife? Twenty pudding wife?

• 12:30Travis McElroy?

  Twenty, twenty quart?

• 12:31Griffin McElroy?

To- twenty quar- okay, twenty quarter, brick and mortar. This one means it's twenty twenty five, go out to the store, go out to...

• 12:42Griffin McElroy?

Instead, this is a year against, against online shopping. This is, uh, this is a year against online shopping. This is a year where you go to brick and mortar business, businesses.

• 12:54Travis McElroy?

  Okay, quarter, change. Twenty change.

• 13:02Travis McElroy?

  Be the light.

• 13:03Travis McElroy?

  Twenty.

• 13:07Travis McElroy?

  Uh, here's the thing.

• 13:08Travis McElroy?

Because we're changing too. We're willing to change the year name. Twenty change, be the light.

• 13:14Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty quart.

• 13:16Travis McElroy?

  Twenty quart be the change.

• 13:18Griffin McElroy?

Twenty, ton- twenty quarter be the change. I hate coins so much.

• 13:24Travis McElroy?

Yeah, I don't want people to bring coins to our shows.

• 13:26Griffin McElroy?

Damn it, you're right. I don't want a bunch of fucking change jangling around.

• 13:30Travis McElroy?

Now, we just put out an empty big water jug at the front, have them put their coins in there, let Paula deal with it.

• 13:37Griffin McElroy?

  Keep the change.

• 13:41Travis McElroy?

  All paper bills.

• 13:44Griffin McElroy?

Twenty quarter. Flip a coin, flip a coin, heads or tails?

• 13:52Travis McElroy?

  Hmm, make your own luck.

• 13:54Travis McElroy?

  Hmm.

• 13:55Griffin McElroy?

Twenty quarter, make your own luck.

• 13:59Travis McElroy?

  Twenty? Honey quarter.

• 14:06Travis McElroy?

  Change of business.

• 14:11Travis McElroy?

There's something about beesness that's really getting me, guy. I think beesness needs to be in there somewhere.

• 14:16Griffin McElroy?

  Why? Why?

• 14:17Travis McElroy?

  Why?

• 14:18Griffin McElroy?

Hmm? Why do you feel that way?

• 14:20Travis McElroy?

Oh, cuz honey kinda rhymes with 20.

• 14:23Griffin McElroy?

Let's decide right now whether or not we're ever actually gonna do a honey thing.

• 14:28Travis McElroy?

  Let's start there.

• 14:28Griffin McElroy?

  Let's decide right now.

• 14:29Travis McElroy?

For the rest of the, like, decade?

• 14:31Griffin McElroy?

  Decade, yeah.

• 14:32Travis McElroy?

  Ever.

• 14:33Travis McElroy?

I don't think we can make that call now.

• 14:35Griffin McElroy?

I don't know what, how actionable honey is. A lot of people are into beekeeping now, and I'm so bored.

• 14:42Travis McElroy?

  Chase the fathom?

• 14:45Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 14:48Griffin McElroy?

  20?

• 14:53Travis McElroy?

  Funny overdrive.

• 14:56Griffin McElroy?

  20?

• 14:57Travis McElroy?

  20 funny site.

• 14:59Griffin McElroy?

Welcome to the 20 funny site.

• 15:05Griffin McElroy?

Welcome to our web. Caught in our web. 20 funny site caught in our web.

• 15:11Travis McElroy?

  What?

• 15:14Travis McElroy?

  Why?

• 15:15Griffin McElroy?

Like, you're on our funny site.

• 15:18Travis McElroy?

  Oh.

• 15:19Travis McElroy?

  I was thinking IGST.

• 15:23Griffin McElroy?

  Like funny site?

• 15:25Travis McElroy?

Yeah, it's like a funny site. Like, our show's a funny site.

• 15:28Griffin McElroy?

  That's cool. I was thinking like S I T E, like an internet website.

• 15:32Travis McElroy?

Yeah, that's what I got, too.

• 15:33Griffin McElroy?

Can the year be a, can the year be a plug for our website?

• 15:37Travis McElroy?

If we're gonna plug anything, I'm going back to...

• 15:39Travis McElroy?

Maybe it could be C I T E, and listeners can cite where our episodes used to be funny.

• 15:45Travis McElroy?

  20 like, subscribe.

• 15:47Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 15:51Travis McElroy?

  20 funny vibe.

• 15:58Griffin McElroy?

Vibe, we did. We did surf the vibe.

• 16:00Travis McElroy?

  20 funny life.

• 16:02Travis McElroy?

  Funny. Twenty funny wife.

• 16:04Travis McElroy?

They're better than us. They would have come up with it already. Can we acknowledge that if our three wives are sitting here?

• 16:11Griffin McElroy?

I mean, if any other combination of three human beings on the earth were sitting in our chairs, they would have come up with a thing by now.

• 16:18Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 16:18Griffin McElroy?

It wouldn't have been maybe the best or the right one. Someone made a chart. I saw it online of how long it took us to come up with each year name. And it really shook me to my core because twenty grift teen we came up with in the span of about ninety seconds. We came and it was at the end of the episode. We forgot to do it and then we just fucking blasted it out.

• 16:40Travis McElroy?

Well, here's what happened. Here's let's, let's look at that Griffin, because it used to be.

• 16:46Griffin McElroy?

  What changed?

• 16:46Travis McElroy?

  They used to.

• 16:47Griffin McElroy?

I'll tell you what changed. Do you want to know what changed?

• 16:48Travis McElroy?

They used to make gears that had the different sounding things.

• 16:51Griffin McElroy?

  Sounds in them.

• 16:52Travis McElroy?

  In them.

• 16:53Griffin McElroy?

They didn't keep jamming twenty in there.

• 16:55Travis McElroy?

Then we got to twenty and now all we have.

• 16:57Griffin McElroy?

  Sixteen.

• 16:59Travis McElroy?

It used to be sixteen, nineteen, eighteen, seventeen. And now it's just twenty one, twenty two, twenty three.

• 17:05Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 17:06Travis McElroy?

  Fucking boring.

• 17:07Griffin McElroy?

  Sucks.

• 17:09Travis McElroy?

Maybe we reset. Maybe this is the new year one.

• 17:13Travis McElroy?

  Twenty X two five.

• 17:16Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty XX, XXV.

• 17:18Travis McElroy?

  Now, wait, hold on.

• 17:19Griffin McElroy?

XXV is looking pretty good right about now, isn't it, boys?

• 17:22Travis McElroy?

  Two five is something.

• 17:23Travis McElroy?

X two, here's the right, twenty X two five is twenty X two, because it's twenty twenty, right? So twenty X two five, twenty twenty five.

• 17:33Travis McElroy?

Looks like a collab between twenty and twenty five.

• 17:37Travis McElroy?

Right. No, it would look like a collab twenty X two space five.

• 17:43Travis McElroy?

  So two hundred?

• 17:46Griffin McElroy?

  Ha.

• 17:50Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty.

• 17:52Travis McElroy?

  Twenty.

• 17:54Travis McElroy?

  Okay, here's, okay, here's, here's, here's, here's what we're gonna do.

• 17:57Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 17:58Travis McElroy?

Here's the game. We're gonna take turns. We're gonna go it around.

• 18:01Griffin McElroy?

Oh, a game? Oh, good, a game.

• 18:06Travis McElroy?

  A parlor game.

• 18:07Griffin McElroy?

Oh, fun. I love games. I love games and sport.

• 18:10Travis McElroy?

Like a menace is cap to 20 questions?

• 18:12Travis McElroy?

  We're gonna take turns.

• 18:13Griffin McElroy?

Does the game have anything with us coming up with a name for it?

• 18:16Travis McElroy?

There's three parts. 20, 25, right? 20, 25. What we're gonna do is, we're gonna go in a round. One of us will say 20. Then another one of us will say a word that rhymes with 20. And then another one of us will say a word that rhymes with 5. And we'll just find it.

• 18:32Griffin McElroy?

This sounds, Justin, like what we've been doing, only putting way less pressure on you.

• 18:38Travis McElroy?

  20. No, we'll take turns.

• 18:40Griffin McElroy?

  Oh, okay.

• 18:41Travis McElroy?

Being the first. It's not always being the first. Okay. 20.

• 18:45Griffin McElroy?

  20.

• 18:48Travis McElroy?

Wait, so now I'm just rhyming 5?

• 18:51Travis McElroy?

Well, you don't have to. Griffin just said 20 again. So just say 5, and we'll get that one out of our system.

• 18:56Travis McElroy?

  5.

• 18:57Travis McElroy?

  Okay. Now you start, Travis.

• 19:00Travis McElroy?

  Okay. Runny.

• 19:02Travis McElroy?

  Bunny.

• 19:04Griffin McElroy?

I'm already gonna stop this one.

• 19:07Travis McElroy?

  Okay. All right. Sunny.

• 19:11Griffin McElroy?

We already did sun and sea. I'm gonna go ahead and stop this one, too. I hate to, I hate to dump all over the game juice.

• 19:18Travis McElroy?

No, no, no, it's good. It's good. Let's just start with some 20s.

• 19:20Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 19:21Travis McElroy?

  Unfunny.

• 19:25Griffin McElroy?

  20?

• 19:25Travis McElroy?

  20. What? Go ahead. You go.

• 19:27Griffin McElroy?

  20?

• 19:29Travis McElroy?

  Dunny.

• 19:31Travis McElroy?

  Isn't that a toilet?

• 19:34Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 19:35Travis McElroy?

  What about spending money?

• 19:38Griffin McElroy?

No, I don't want to talk about money.

• 19:40Travis McElroy?

Okay. Oh, bad news. That's a lot of the stuff that rhymes with funny. Okay.

• 19:44Griffin McElroy?

  I know. 20?

• 19:49Griffin McElroy?

This game sucks. This is the worst game I've ever played in my life. It feels bad to play it.

• 19:54Travis McElroy?

It was just a thought starter. I don't know. I will not do an honey thing. That we have agreed upon.

• 20:01Griffin McElroy?

  I said punny. Punny with a P?

• 20:03Travis McElroy?

Punny? Nope. Don't think puns are funny.

• 20:06Griffin McElroy?

You guys are lost in the sauce. If you guys think at this point, we can come up with also a good joke about 20, and a good joke about if or I've, then you've not been listening or participating.

• 20:18Griffin McElroy?

I don't want to espouse that necessarily.

• 20:22Travis McElroy?

  20 open-eyed.

• 20:26Griffin McElroy?

Is there a metaphorical knife? Is there a knife that's not tangible that you, is there a type of knife you can't?

• 20:32Travis McElroy?

There's no knives in this year's theme. I can say for sure, we're not gonna mention knives. I don't think we should have knives in there. Personally.

• 20:41Travis McElroy?

That's, that's strong coming from Justin.

• 20:44Travis McElroy?

That's strong coming from me. I plan on talking about knives a lot this year.

• 20:47Travis McElroy?

  20 pain and strife.

• 20:49Travis McElroy?

20 pain and strife is so good, Trav. 20 no more strife.

• 20:55Travis McElroy?

  20, 20 strive to thrive.

• 20:59Travis McElroy?

We have to keep making the podcast.

• 21:00Travis McElroy?

  We do.

• 21:02Travis McElroy?

  The law says we can't.

• 21:03Travis McElroy?

  Mummy's alive.

• 21:07Travis McElroy?

  Mummy live.

• 21:08Travis McElroy?

  20 sleep deprived.

• 21:10Travis McElroy?

20 sun deprived. 20 thunder life.

• 21:19Travis McElroy?

  20 more high fives.

• 21:21Travis McElroy?

20 thunder life. 20 thunder life. What about that? 20 blunder life.

• 21:28Griffin McElroy?

  20?

• 21:33Travis McElroy?

The sage is sleeping once again.

• 21:38Griffin McElroy?

Let me retire to my hermitage.

• 21:42Travis McElroy?

Let him rest. He's, he's sucked all his energy.

• 21:46Griffin McElroy?

Let me consult with the vapors.

• 21:54Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 21:55Travis McElroy?

  29.

• 21:57Griffin McElroy?

20, 20 cyber life, change the game.

• 22:03Travis McElroy?

  Cyber doesn't sound like.

• 22:04Griffin McElroy?

It doesn't fucking matter. We're not gonna make the 20 rhyme, Justin.

• 22:08Travis McElroy?

  29 to 5.

• 22:11Griffin McElroy?

  That's just. I'm giving up on 20.

• 22:17Travis McElroy?

  Oh.

• 22:17Griffin McElroy?

I'm saying fuck, I'm saying fuck 20. If we can come up with anything, anything, anything at this point, that is even, just even remotely sounds like I, I consonant, I'll be totally, totally fine with it at this point.

• 22:37Griffin McElroy?

And you just shit on 20 Cyberlife changed the game. Can you think Juice about that? I want to walk you through how actionable that would be for us. We're gamers already. We wouldn't have to do that much hard stuff. Everyone else listening at home would be stoked. They'd be like, I'd love a Cyberlife.

• 22:57Travis McElroy?

  20 Cold as Ice.

• 23:00Griffin McElroy?

I like where your head's at Trav.

• 23:04Griffin McElroy?

I mean, not, not that one, but that you're willing to reach as far out as Cold as Ice. I think gets me excited.

• 23:12Travis McElroy?

  I'm going through the alphabet.

• 23:18Travis McElroy?

20 Underlight Neon for everyone. 20 Underlight Neon for all.

• 23:24Travis McElroy?

  20 Satellite.

• 23:25Travis McElroy?

  20.

• 23:28Travis McElroy?

  Hmm. Satellite.

• 23:32Travis McElroy?

  20 Guiding Light.

• 23:35Travis McElroy?

Yeah, real religious. That's how I like it.

• 23:41Travis McElroy?

  20 Angel Life.

• 23:47Griffin McElroy?

That'd be cool. If we followed up, there's a mushroom god who's like hanging out and watching you and listening to your wishes too. Their angels are real and they are checking in nonstop.

• 24:05Travis McElroy?

  20 Angel.

• 24:08Travis McElroy?

20 Angel Life, they're all around you.

• 24:17Travis McElroy?

  Grunder.

• 24:18Griffin McElroy?

  Huh?

• 24:21Griffin McElroy?

Fuck yeah, man. This is that good shit. This is what I'm talking about. There's not going to be words by the end of it. Just checking in with you, listener at home. How's Tommy Buddy life feeling? 20. Just want to check in with you at home. How's Tommy Buddy life feeling? Probably alright, probably alright. A little better than it was.

• 24:39Travis McElroy?

  Grab your.

• 24:40Travis McElroy?

I hope it feels a million miles away. Cause that's how far it is from you. You'll never have it again.

• 24:45Griffin McElroy?

  20 Drum and Fife.

• 24:49Travis McElroy?

  March to your own beat.

• 24:51Griffin McElroy?

  20 Drum and Fife.

• 24:54Travis McElroy?

  Rat tat tat tat.

• 24:57Griffin McElroy?

Twenty Drum and Fife, get in formation.

• 25:00Travis McElroy?

  Get in line. It's hard.

• 25:03Griffin McElroy?

  That's a bad.

• 25:04Travis McElroy?

  Tough one.

• 25:07Travis McElroy?

  Twenty Wonderlife, look around you.

• 25:12Griffin McElroy?

Don't, I don't know that if people looked around them, they would sigh contentedly.

• 25:17Travis McElroy?

  I think one of one.

• 25:18Griffin McElroy?

  Wonderlife.

• 25:19Travis McElroy?

  No, that's right. You're fair. I mean, I met, I've full.

• 25:25Travis McElroy?

Philosophically disagree with you, but I understand your sentiment. Um, and twenty Underknife, fix it. And we all get a lot of surgery to every part of us.

• 25:39Travis McElroy?

Going under the knife is what you mean.

• 25:40Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 25:41Griffin McElroy?

No problems I see with that.

• 25:42Travis McElroy?

No problems I see at all. Thematically. And it gets knives back in there, which I'm wild about.

• 25:57Travis McElroy?

I want to talk about Warby Parker.

• 26:00Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 26:00Travis McElroy?

  Hmm.

• 26:02Travis McElroy?

I can see clearly now, the frames are here.

• 26:05Travis McElroy?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 26:06Travis McElroy?

Like, because it's how it works.

• 26:08Griffin McElroy?

  Yes.

• 26:08Travis McElroy?

Because Warby Parker, they change the game frame, they keep changing it, making glasses that are stylish and affordable. They design frames in-house. Their collection includes silhouettes, colors, fits, made to suit every face. You can get them, uh, online, you can get them sent, uh, to your home or in stores. I'm wearing them right now. These are the Chamberlain. It's gotten a lot of compliments on these puppies.

I don't know, we're recording this after we finished recording the episode because you can't interrupt the flow. Um, I don't know where you're hearing this right now, but we do need to send out a lot of letters about the new theme name that we do come up with. And I am not trying to lose my fucking shirt over that.

• 27:30Travis McElroy?

Yeah, you want to save a little money.

• 31:32Travis McElroy?

Okay, I'm gonna read these out.

• 31:33Griffin McElroy?

  Blast me.

• 31:34Travis McElroy?

  Ice, bike, bite, dice.

• 31:37Travis McElroy?

  Twenty wonder.

• 31:37Griffin McElroy?

Okay, slow down, slow down, slow down, slow down.

• 31:40Travis McElroy?

Okay, wait, how's twenty wonder bike?

• 31:43Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty hover bike.

• 31:46Travis McElroy?

  Huh.

• 31:48Travis McElroy?

  Twenty tandem bike.

• 31:50Travis McElroy?

  No, it's not even close.

• 31:52Griffin McElroy?

Okay, start over. Ice, I don't like.

• 31:54Travis McElroy?

  Okay, bike, bite, dice, dime.

• 31:58Griffin McElroy?

  Dice, dice.

• 32:01Travis McElroy?

  Hey, no.

• 32:02Travis McElroy?

  Dive.

• 32:04Travis McElroy?

File, that's not it. Fine, fire, five, hide, hike, hire, hive.

• 32:13Griffin McElroy?

  Hike.

• 32:14Travis McElroy?

  Twenty take a hike.

• 32:16Travis McElroy?

  Twenty wonder hike.

• 32:17Griffin McElroy?

  Now.

• 32:20Travis McElroy?

Twenty wonder hike, nature's all around you.

• 32:22Griffin McElroy?

  Is it W A?

• 32:23Travis McElroy?

  Wander. Twenty wander hike.

• 32:26Griffin McElroy?

  Get lost.

• 32:28Travis McElroy?

  It's with an A.

• 32:30Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty wander, twenty wander hike.

• 32:32Travis McElroy?

I don't want somebody to die trying to do this.

• 32:34Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 32:35Travis McElroy?

Kite, lice, life, like, lime, line, live, mice, nice.

• 32:42Travis McElroy?

They're going too fast. I can't think this fast. Wonder mice.

• 32:46Griffin McElroy?

You say wonder mice? Justin has to say wonder before all these, Travis. You didn't let him.

• 32:50Travis McElroy?

Do it again. Hey, Trav, do the list again, but just add wonder.

• 32:54Travis McElroy?

Wonder ice, wonder bike, wonder bite, wonder dice, wonder dime, wonder dive, wonder file, wonder fine, wonder fire.

• 33:06Travis McElroy?

  Uh, wonder five.

• 33:08Travis McElroy?

Okay, you have to stop now. We are just naming a tech startup and I can't, I can't do it anymore.

• 33:13Griffin McElroy?

It does feel like I'm trying to come up with a.

• 33:15Travis McElroy?

  Wise?

• 33:16Griffin McElroy?

With a name for a fictional company.

• 33:20Travis McElroy?

  Smile, wonder smile.

• 33:23Griffin McElroy?

  Cool.

• 33:23Travis McElroy?

  Wonder smile is so far.

• 33:25Travis McElroy?

  Twenty.

• 33:26Travis McElroy?

It sounds nothing like twenty five.

• 33:30Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty big grand prize.

• 33:38Griffin McElroy?

Are these the worst bits, the silence? Are those the worst bits for you guys?

• 33:42Travis McElroy?

I, can I say why they're the worst? Because there is always a bit of me, and it's the part of me that I've been trying to kill. There's a part of me that hopes that one of us is about to bust through the silence.

• 33:55Griffin McElroy?

  Uh huh.

• 33:56Travis McElroy?

  With an absolutely Alzheimer.

• 33:58Griffin McElroy?

It's gotta come, eventually, it's gotta come out.

• 34:02Travis McElroy?

Yeah, we knew it last time, but we just were so hungry. We had to stop.

• 34:08Griffin McElroy?

But the joke, guess what? Doing an afternoon recording now, I already eaten my lunch. I won't be hungry for a long time. I got a lot of podcasts.

• 34:16Travis McElroy?

I got calzone power. Um, time to tithe. Pay the piper.

• 34:29Travis McElroy?

We should just call it 20 blender guys at this point, because that's where we are.

• 34:34Travis McElroy?

  20 tired guys.

• 34:36Travis McElroy?

  20 blender guys.

• 34:37Travis McElroy?

  20 20 knife.

• 34:42Travis McElroy?

  400 blades.

• 34:45Griffin McElroy?

400 blades, cool. Too much math. We obviously can't do anything on the list from the first episode, but there's a lot of stuff on the list from the first episode that if one of you just said it spontaneously now, I would be like, yeah, absolutely 20 20 try to ramp it up.

• 35:03Travis McElroy?

Well, we can't, I do think it is fair that we, we must have some.

• 35:07Travis McElroy?

It just feels like at this point, we're living 20 take a dive. Uh, they can't all be winners. I feel like that's the spirit that's being embodied, and yet our refusal to.

• 35:20Griffin McElroy?

Is there something to, I don't want to encourage people to fail. But what has been personally?

• 35:29Griffin McElroy?

Transformative of revelation I've had in my adult life is that I oftentimes succumb to all or nothing thinking and that can stop progress, right? It can stop you from even trying something because you don't know if you're going to be the best at it or the shittiest person in the world at it. That's not how it works, but that's the kind of trap your brain likes to get you in. Something along the lines of a 20 take a dive. That does sound like I'm encouraging people to fail, but they all can't be winners is not the, not a terrible sentiment to get out there.

• 36:07Travis McElroy?

Well, what I like about it is it's both take a dive as one might throw a match, but also like dive in.

• 36:13Griffin McElroy?

  Jumping in, yeah.

• 36:15Travis McElroy?

Take it, that's why I thought 20 dive, 20 take a dive, I meant to do that.

• 36:23Travis McElroy?

And also you get Urkel in there.

• 36:26Griffin McElroy?

Did Urkel say, I meant to do that?

• 36:28Travis McElroy?

That was, that was always the follow up. Did I do that? Yes. Oh, I meant to, sorry.

• 36:34Travis McElroy?

They usually cut that second part.

• 36:36Griffin McElroy?

  He was always really.

• 36:38Travis McElroy?

Who said, I meant to do that?

• 36:40Griffin McElroy?

Who's, which sitcom character said, I meant to do that?

• 36:43Travis McElroy?

  Uncle Jesse.

• 36:43Travis McElroy?

Yeah, it was like a quote.

• 36:45Griffin McElroy?

  Tim, the Toolman Taylor.

• 36:47Travis McElroy?

  No, Pee Pee Herman, sorry.

• 36:49Griffin McElroy?

  20 cool tool time.

• 36:54Griffin McElroy?

  20 cool tool time.

• 36:58Griffin McElroy?

  20 cool tool time.

• 37:00Travis McElroy?

  Under Hunter's Five.

• 37:02Griffin McElroy?

  Hunter's Five.

• 37:04Travis McElroy?

  Under Hunter's Five.

• 37:07Travis McElroy?

  Under.

• 37:10Travis McElroy?

  Under. Under. Andy.

• 37:21Griffin McElroy?

  Sunder, sunder time.

• 37:23Travis McElroy?

This isn't a podcast at this point, right?

• 37:25Griffin McElroy?

That's okay. It doesn't need to be, and don't you, it's the second guessing that's actually is slowing us down.

• 37:31Travis McElroy?

Read the list again, Griffin, from last time, just read the list again.

• 37:35Griffin McElroy?

20 Honey Hive, Back to Business, 20 It's Alive, Rebuild the Monster, 2045, Welcome to the Future. Pretty cool.

• 37:40Travis McElroy?

  Okay.

• 37:42Griffin McElroy?

Thunder Force 5, the Omega Continuum, 2020 Knives, 400 Blades, 20 Joanie Ives, Mind the Pezzles.

• 37:47Travis McElroy?

Hold on, wait, no wait, hold on, no wait.

• 37:51Travis McElroy?

Now, listen, hold on. If we were to take the theme 2045 at this point, then all we would have to do is pledge that in 2045.

• 38:03Griffin McElroy?

  We'll do Tummy Buddy Life?

• 38:05Travis McElroy?

We'll do Tummy Buddy Life, right?

• 38:07Travis McElroy?

  Oh, we're just swapping.

• 38:09Travis McElroy?

It's just a clean swap, right? So it's not even like we're bailing, it's just like.

• 38:13Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 38:13Travis McElroy?

The year theme for this year was 20, you know, Tummy Buddy Life, and we'll just send that to 2045.

• 38:21Travis McElroy?

  Like Looper.

• 38:21Griffin McElroy?

  Right.

• 38:22Travis McElroy?

  I think.

• 38:23Travis McElroy?

And then we'll take the, the year theme 2045.

• 38:27Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 38:28Travis McElroy?

For this, for this year, 2045, Welcome to the Future, we'll do that now.

• 38:33Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 38:34Travis McElroy?

And we'll just send the next one,

• 38:37Travis McElroy?

20 years into the far-flung future.

• 38:38Travis McElroy?

Now, I like that part of it a lot, where, where we're kicking this can down the road 20 years.

• 38:45Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 38:45Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 38:46Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 38:46Griffin McElroy?

I will say it does sound sort of like a celebration of the 45th president of our United States of America, which I'm not wild about.

• 38:55Travis McElroy?

  No.

• 38:57Travis McElroy?

  Why not 2085?

• 38:59Travis McElroy?

2085. Cause 40 sounded closer to 20, but I see what, I do see what you're saying, Trav.

• 39:07Travis McElroy?

If we're gonna go to the future, why just 20 years? That wouldn't make for very fun costumes.

• 39:12Travis McElroy?

We will not, I think, Trav, there's some problem.

• 39:15Travis McElroy?

  2055.

• 39:16Travis McElroy?

  Mine felt, 2055, maybe.

• 39:20Travis McElroy?

  You know, clean living.

• 39:21Travis McElroy?

50 sounds like more, Justin, that's 70, like, it's not that much.

• 39:27Travis McElroy?

I like to keep my expectations low, you know?

• 39:34Travis McElroy?

  Fifty-five sounds more futuristic.

• 39:36Travis McElroy?

  Fifty, fifty.

• 39:38Griffin McElroy?

  Fifty.

• 39:39Travis McElroy?

  Fifty. Fifty-five.

• 39:43Travis McElroy?

  Sorry, what was that?

• 39:45Travis McElroy?

Fifty-five. It's too if. You can't have another if sound.

• 39:48Travis McElroy?

I didn't realize it sounded so Italian.

• 39:50Travis McElroy?

  Bunty, runty.

• 39:52Griffin McElroy?

  Runty dive.

• 39:54Travis McElroy?

  Bluntie dive.

• 39:55Travis McElroy?

  Then why not thirty twenty-five?

• 39:58Griffin McElroy?

Fuck yeah. Why not six thousand two hundred and nineteen?

• 40:05Travis McElroy?

  Twenty cyber five.

• 40:07Griffin McElroy?

Twenty cyber life. The game has changed.

• 40:12Travis McElroy?

Well, cyber life, welcome to the future, still works.

• 40:16Travis McElroy?

But I don't want to sound like we're embracing AI.

• 40:19Griffin McElroy?

That doesn't sound like it is what.

• 40:24Travis McElroy?

  Circle of life?

• 40:30Travis McElroy?

Twenty, we're alive. No bots, only dreams.

• 40:35Griffin McElroy?

  Hmm.

• 40:38Griffin McElroy?

  Real dreams only.

• 40:49Travis McElroy?

  So just to summarize.

• 40:51Griffin McElroy?

Twenty in your life. Real dreams only.

• 40:55Travis McElroy?

Sorry, did you say twenty in your life, real dreams only?

• 40:59Griffin McElroy?

Twenty in your, be in, like, be in your life.

• 41:03Travis McElroy?

I know, but we have to have some, there's nothing of substance.

• 41:09Travis McElroy?

Something for me to there's nothing with chew or depth.

• 41:13Travis McElroy?

  Twenty human life.

• 41:16Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty thunders cry.

• 41:21Travis McElroy?

  Twenty thunder strike.

• 41:24Griffin McElroy?

Twenty thunder strike. Hmm. Thunder doesn't really strike, though, does it? It's the sound.

• 41:29Travis McElroy?

  Twenty thunder wife.

• 41:31Travis McElroy?

I already said thunder wife and no one reacted to it at all. I would.

• 41:35Griffin McElroy?

I just don't know what a thunder wife is, I guess.

• 41:38Travis McElroy?

You know, like if you married Thor?

• 41:41Griffin McElroy?

  Guess so.

• 41:43Travis McElroy?

  Twenty lightning strike. Twenty.

• 41:48Travis McElroy?

  Thunderbike?

• 41:50Griffin McElroy?

That's cool. It's not gonna be it, but I'm glad you said it, cuz it's cool. It's a cool thing to think. Like, I'm so tired right now, but sometimes we're saying stuff that's like, cool to think about, like, something like a thunderbike.

• 42:00Travis McElroy?

What about if the year name is just, what is thunderbike?

• 42:05Travis McElroy?

Look, can I say the reason I liked it is cuz I was thinking about the posters that we would have at live shows? And how like, everyone would just be us on a thunderbike.

• 42:13Travis McElroy?

  And that's cool.

• 42:15Griffin McElroy?

That's cool. Is there anything to, hey, let's just take a second, just as a joke.

• 42:22Griffin McElroy?

It's kinda cool to think about yourself on a thunderbike.

• 42:24Travis McElroy?

  It really is.

• 42:25Travis McElroy?

  Right? Yeah.

• 42:27Griffin McElroy?

  And...

• 42:30Griffin McElroy?

And maybe it's something like, if you get scared... If you get, if the year makes you scared, you think about yourself on a thunderbike.

• 42:37Travis McElroy?

Not a motorcycle, but like a bike? Like, an actual bike? Like, a bicycle?

• 42:40Griffin McElroy?

Yeah. And so like, what's actionable about it is it's like, when you get scared, you can think about the thunderbike, and then you'll feel a little bit better. And it's got, and it's yours, but only in your imagination.

• 42:52Travis McElroy?

Now, if we went 20 tandem bike, people could draw it as a thunderbike if they wanted to. But 20 tandem bike in this together, picture the three of us in like, old timey, like, straw boaters.

• 43:04Griffin McElroy?

Tandem bike's not gonna make you stop being scared when you get scared.

• 43:07Travis McElroy?

Yeah, cuz you're not alone. I'll pedal for you if you need me to. We're going downhill. You're not on that bike alone. I'm there with you, buddy.

• 43:14Travis McElroy?

  Hmm. 20 thunderbikes. Demand abundance.

• 43:19Travis McElroy?

  Tandem thunderbikes.

• 43:21Travis McElroy?

  20 thunderbikes. Demand abundance.

• 43:25Griffin McElroy?

Demand abundance? Is what you want more of?

• 43:31Travis McElroy?

20, 20 thunderbikes is so many, right?

• 43:34Travis McElroy?

Yeah, almost too many. Cuz you only have the one set of legs.

• 43:39Travis McElroy?

  Expect abundance.

• 43:40Griffin McElroy?

  Expect abun- expect abundance.

• 43:43Travis McElroy?

  Oh.

• 43:44Travis McElroy?

  Recognize abundance?

• 43:46Travis McElroy?

  20 recognize.

• 43:50Travis McElroy?

  20 rec the guys.

• 43:55Griffin McElroy?

20 number spike. A big bump in the... in the tally. Bumping the... 20 number spike, bumping the tally.

• 44:05Travis McElroy?

  20 how time flies.

• 44:11Griffin McElroy?

  Twenty no goodbyes.

• 44:14Travis McElroy?

Why don't we just call this, this is the last year I'll make the show, twenty last goodbye. And we'll just, no, we're never doing the year naming again.

• 44:23Travis McElroy?

  Dun, Dundo.

• 44:25Griffin McElroy?

This is just an off year for us, Trav. Next year, we're gonna crush.

• 44:28Travis McElroy?

Remember when we talked about Bluntie for like a long time?

• 44:31Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, what's Dundo? Don't change the subject.

• 44:35Griffin McElroy?

  You can't just say Dundo.

• 44:39Griffin McElroy?

Who do you think you are? Like, what do you think?

• 44:41Travis McElroy?

Dundo like it was a conversation starter.

• 44:43Griffin McElroy?

Your job is, what do you think your job is?

• 44:46Travis McElroy?

Dundo like it was gonna spur us all on.

• 44:48Griffin McElroy?

You just said Dundo and then you really quickly.

• 44:53Travis McElroy?

Sorry babe, it's gonna be a little while before I can record spanners. We're still working on the year. We went back, we dove back into it.

• 45:02Travis McElroy?

I was about to say, okay.

• 45:06Travis McElroy?

I was about to say Dundo Kive, then I thought, that sounds like a Star Wars character.

• 45:11Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 45:12Travis McElroy?

So I said half of it before I could stop myself from saying Dundo Kive. I just said.

• 45:23Travis McElroy?

And that's a story what happened with Dundo Kive.

• 45:27Travis McElroy?

And someday you'll be reading a Star Wars almanac. About Dundo Kive.

• 45:33Griffin McElroy?

Twenty Jumbo Wife. My huge wife.

• 45:39Travis McElroy?

  Twenty Jumbo Jive.

• 45:41Griffin McElroy?

  No, no.

• 45:46Travis McElroy?

  Twenty Gunner Knife.

• 45:50Travis McElroy?

Just wanted to get it out. You guys keep thinking about twenty Thunderbike. I don't know why you keep making me bring that back up. Man. It was pretty good, I guess. I feel like I'm recording this to myself at this point.

• 46:03Griffin McElroy?

  Well.

• 46:04Travis McElroy?

  A little bit.

• 46:07Travis McElroy?

Cause I feel like there's not, there's not a part of us, can I say the part of the problem?

• 46:11Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 46:12Travis McElroy?

Is that, okay, seriously, look at me for a second, engage.

• 46:16Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah, I'm here, baby.

• 46:18Travis McElroy?

Part of the problem is that we are just spouting things.

• 46:22Griffin McElroy?

  But not building.

• 46:23Travis McElroy?

We're not building and nothing can get momentum just saying it. We gotta explore some of these ideas to see if there's anything there, just to like bat it around a little bit, you know what I mean? I just, uh, just to.

• 46:37Travis McElroy?

So like ride the thunder bike, charge ahead.

• 46:42Travis McElroy?

  Hmm.

• 46:43Griffin McElroy?

Now, wait, Juice, this is interesting because you're, you're trying to, you're saying a thing to try to help me and Travis and it's to help us do our best and make our best. So is there, is there a year name in that, in what you just said?

• 46:59Travis McElroy?

  How do you mean?

• 47:01Travis McElroy?

  Like a tandem bike.

• 47:03Griffin McElroy?

  Worked to 20, 20.

• 47:05Travis McElroy?

  21 bike, there's.

• 47:07Travis McElroy?

I feel like Justin, you want the under feeling so bad that you're referred to and you refuse to engage.

• 47:13Griffin McElroy?

You also want bike and, and that's, you can't have both words, man.

• 47:18Travis McElroy?

I just want you all to picture the three of us riding a tandem bicycle and tell me it doesn't fill your life with joy.

• 47:24Travis McElroy?

Tandem bike, 25, there's just no, I mean, maybe meter, but that's about it.

• 47:32Travis McElroy?

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize, uh, that we had such an abundance.

• 47:35Griffin McElroy?

We're so close, we're so close. I can tell that we're so close, but if we get nasty with each other now. When we're so close, it will have been for nothing.

• 47:44Travis McElroy?

  You're right, you're right, you're right. I apologize.

• 47:48Travis McElroy?

  20 underground, 20 thunder crimes.

• 47:55Griffin McElroy?

  Hmm.

• 47:57Travis McElroy?

  20 thunder guys.

• 47:58Travis McElroy?

  20 thunder time.

• 48:01Travis McElroy?

20, thunder time, 20 thunder time.

• 48:06Griffin McElroy?

  20 thunder drive.

• 48:09Travis McElroy?

  Go on.

• 48:10Griffin McElroy?

  I am speed.

• 48:12Travis McElroy?

  What? Say it again.

• 48:14Griffin McElroy?

20 thunder drive. I am speed.

• 48:17Travis McElroy?

  20 thunder drive.

• 48:19Griffin McElroy?

  20 thunder drive.

• 48:20Travis McElroy?

  Faster than fear.

• 48:22Griffin McElroy?

  Faster than.

• 48:22Travis McElroy?

20 thunder drive faster than fear.

• 48:25Griffin McElroy?

Like you're driving into the stor- oh, wait. A thunder drive. A thunder drive is like you're driving into the storm.

• 48:33Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 48:34Griffin McElroy?

A cool storm chaser type, if you will.

• 48:36Travis McElroy?

Chase the storm, ride the lightning.

• 48:40Griffin McElroy?

  No, I don't want.

• 48:41Travis McElroy?

20 thunder drive into the storm.

• 48:46Griffin McElroy?

  Into the storm.

• 48:49Griffin McElroy?

Faster than fear hit like way better than anything we've, we've said.

• 48:53Travis McElroy?

  Guys.

• 48:54Griffin McElroy?

  So far.

• 48:55Travis McElroy?

20 thunder drive faster than fear.

• 48:59Griffin McElroy?

Does that just mean not be, not be afraid? Like, don't be afraid.

• 49:04Travis McElroy?

No, it's okay to be afraid. You just have to move faster than your fear.

• 49:09Griffin McElroy?

  Okay.

• 49:09Travis McElroy?

  Don't let fear stop you.

• 49:11Griffin McElroy?

  There's a storm.

• 49:12Travis McElroy?

Storm in front of you. It's making scary noises.

• 49:15Griffin McElroy?

  It's not here yet.

• 49:17Travis McElroy?

No, but you know that no matter how little sense it makes, it's harder for the lightning to hit you if you're moving. You're gonna drive faster than fear. You're gonna drive through the storm, through the lightning, through the thunder, unless you've been advised not to by the authorities. Yeah. This is, you know, a trusted source. But this is mostly.

• 49:38Griffin McElroy?

20 thunder drive faster than. Faster than fear, but.

• 49:42Travis McElroy?

  Within reason.

• 49:43Griffin McElroy?

  But if the government says.

• 49:46Travis McElroy?

A trusted source. I said a trusted source. 20 thunder drive faster than fear within reason. There's an asterisk. Faster than fear.

• 49:55Griffin McElroy?

  Right.

• 49:56Travis McElroy?

  Asterisk within reason.

• 50:01Travis McElroy?

You know what makes me happy?

• 50:02Griffin McElroy?

What? 20 Thunder Drive Faster Than Fear?

• 50:05Travis McElroy?

Yeah, it's that we have, it's taken us 45 minutes to get here.

• 50:09Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 50:09Travis McElroy?

There's no way we would have recorded for three solid hours.

• 50:13Griffin McElroy?

  No.

• 50:14Travis McElroy?

It just so happens that this one took three hours to come out. You know what I mean?

• 50:20Griffin McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 50:20Travis McElroy?

It just took this long to get here.

• 50:22Griffin McElroy?

What are you gonna dress as? What are you guys gonna dress as? For 20 Thunder? Probably Glenn Powell.

• 50:30Griffin McElroy?

  I don't know that that'll hit.

• 50:31Travis McElroy?

From Twisters? Yeah, I'm into it, dude. Yeah, for sure.

• 50:34Griffin McElroy?

Or like a full racing suit.

• 50:38Travis McElroy?

Racing? Storm? Man. We gotta hurry up and tell McKay before she draws anything else.

• 50:47Travis McElroy?

With the old theme on it, because I think everybody's gonna be pretty excited about this one. Now, is the asterisk within reason canonical? Or is that more of a vibe? Because I do like the idea of every poster.

• 51:01Griffin McElroy?

  Has an asterisk?

• 51:03Travis McElroy?

Has an asterisk, you know, just sort of.

• 51:07Griffin McElroy?

Dude, let me Google Thunder Drive and make sure it's not like a new racist truck.

• 51:13Travis McElroy?

  A new electric racist truck?

• 51:15Griffin McElroy?

Is that a truck for racist or is racist? The truck is racist.

• 51:25Travis McElroy?

All right, thunderdrive.com looks like it's just being squatted, which makes me feel pretty good.

• 51:30Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, but there is, there's a cloud-based technology company.

• 51:34Travis McElroy?

Oh, whatever. Well, I don't care about that. Yeah, baby.

• 51:39Griffin McElroy?

  It's not the best reviewed.

• 51:41Travis McElroy?

Good. Well, that's fine. We're not gonna use them.

• 51:46Travis McElroy?

That's all the more reason for us to use the name. There's no confusion.

• 51:52Travis McElroy?

Because we crush it every single time, except for this time.

• 51:58Griffin McElroy?

20 thunder drive faster than fear. What are we telling people?

• 52:03Travis McElroy?

We just explained it to you, Griffin.

• 52:05Travis McElroy?

We explained it to you already. Yeah, yeah, you're gonna move faster than your fear.

• 52:10Griffin McElroy?

Yeah, so right, definitely. I get that you gotta go faster than your fear. What does that mean?

• 52:17Travis McElroy?

It means don't let fear stop you. Like, if you sit there and think about all the reasons not to do something, and you'll convince yourself not to, you need to move before that fear hits.

• 52:26Griffin McElroy?

Okay, that's cool. That kind of gets back to the all or nothing thing.

• 52:29Travis McElroy?

Yeah, this is what I'm saying.

• 52:30Griffin McElroy?

It's the, it's the, it's the, I don't want anyone to do anything dangerous. Cause sometimes fear can be a good-

• 52:34Travis McElroy?

  It's not faster than reason.

• 52:36Travis McElroy?

Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage. Do you know who said that?

• 52:41Griffin McElroy?

  Lee Harvey Oswald.

• 52:43Travis McElroy?

Matt Damon in We Bought a Zoo.

• 52:48Griffin McElroy?

He's living faster than fear in that. You know what? I, I fucking like fast. This is more applicable to me than I'm afraid of something, so let's rush right into it.

• 52:58Travis McElroy?

This is move faster than fear.

• 52:59Griffin McElroy?

  It could just be-

• 53:00Travis McElroy?

  Move before that fear hits.

• 53:01Travis McElroy?

I'm not thinking yet. You can't get scared if you're already doing it.

• 53:03Travis McElroy?

You can't let the fear sink in. It'll stop you. You have to move faster than fear.

• 53:08Griffin McElroy?

But don't use this to do anything shitty.

• 53:10Travis McElroy?

It's not faster than reason or morals.

• 53:13Travis McElroy?

Now, that's why asterisk within reason.

• 53:17Griffin McElroy?

I don't allow that we can do a subtext. I don't know if we can do a PS to our you.

• 53:23Travis McElroy?

Yeah, I mean, it can be acknowledged or implied.

• 53:25Travis McElroy?

  There's an implicit asterisk.

• 53:27Griffin McElroy?

Well, can we just put 20 thunder drive faster than fear asterisk, but not explain, like, come to us if you want to know what the asterisk is.

• 53:36Travis McElroy?

  Yeah.

• 53:37Griffin McElroy?

But canonically, that asterisk is there.

• 53:39Travis McElroy?

But it's too long. But like, you get it, like-

• 53:42Travis McElroy?

Clearly, there's more to it. That's what the asterisk denotes.

• 53:45Griffin McElroy?

Thunder drive. I'm living faster than fear. I'm living faster. I'm just thinking about saying this, but yeah, I'm living faster than fear over here. Matt Damon was living faster than fear when he bought his zoo.

• 53:59Travis McElroy?

  Feels good.

• 53:59Griffin McElroy?

It's a bad idea, and if he had stopped to think about it for more than a second.

• 54:03Travis McElroy?

I haven't seen the movie, Griffin, but I assume it doesn't end with him going, fuck, I wish I hadn't bought that zoo.

• 54:09Travis McElroy?

  It sucks.

• 54:10Griffin McElroy?

Well, can you see a situation where someone-

• 54:13Travis McElroy?

He gets, it ends with him getting trampled by 30 Impalas.

• 54:18Travis McElroy?

And then, and whoever else is in the movie goes, I guess those weren't tame Impalas, and everybody laughs.

• 54:25Griffin McElroy?

He was faster than fear, but not faster than those thirty Impalas. Who trampled him. Is there going to be people who send us emails like, hey, I robbed a store? Because I thought I was being faster than fear.

• 54:42Travis McElroy?

The Macquarie Brothers are not experts and they should never be followed.

• 54:47Travis McElroy?

  Done, done.

• 54:48Travis McElroy?

Also, I think that one should examine their life if the only thing stopping them from robbing a convenience store is fear. And nothing else.

• 54:55Griffin McElroy?

Three chuckle fucks giving a great name for a thing.

• 55:00Travis McElroy?

  Um, I don't, here's what I'll say.

• 55:04Travis McElroy?

We're all gonna agree this is a one time thing, but just took us a long time to find it this time and we had to take a break. And that's fine.

• 55:11Griffin McElroy?

This is feeling better with every passing.

• 55:14Travis McElroy?

But yes, it was the right thing to do, but we're not gonna do this again. And I just don't want any negativity about 20th hundred drive. I think everybody needs to get on board. And if you don't like it, please don't say that because.

• 55:35Griffin McElroy?

Faster than fear, slower than change. Us are immediately living faster than fear. But don't say anything mean about any of the stuff we do ever.

• 55:43Travis McElroy?

Just this one thing. If you could, it's so much pressure and like, we really. Cracked underneath it last time.

• 55:51Griffin McElroy?

Thunder drive sounds so much like 25, I'm shitting.

• 55:56Griffin McElroy?

I'm absolutely shitting at how close those two are phonetically. Absolute shitting my pants over here.

• 56:03Travis McElroy?

Things from the beginning. We absolutely smashed it, bro. Smashed it.

• 56:08Griffin McElroy?

And we got there by free associated just saying fucking garbage. Tried and tested, proven, moms approved, kids approved. We fucking ripped this shit up this year.

• 56:20Travis McElroy?

On top. Hey, listen, I'm about, I was gonna tell you to find our shit, but you know where we're at.

• 56:26Griffin McElroy?

Now Travis just told, Travis just told our work slack the big news, which I think is selfish.

• 56:33Travis McElroy?

  That's Travis.

• 56:34Travis McElroy?

I'm just trying to get in there before they finalize any poster designs.

• 56:37Griffin McElroy?

Oh, and now they're all saying not to do it. They say, don't change it. But now we have to tell them.

• 56:43Travis McElroy?

God, there's so much work. Well, we could always.

• 56:46Griffin McElroy?

We'll release a chase poster of 20 tummy, tummy. I've already forgotten what it was. It's not, it's so bad.
