• 1:05Doug DeMuro?

Hello and welcome to This Car Pod!

• 1:09Speaker 03

  I'm Filippo.

• 1:09Doug DeMuro?

  I'm Nick.

• 1:10Speaker 04

  I'm Doug.

• 1:11Doug DeMuro?

And today we got a big news, 100 years of our podcast.

• 1:16Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:17Doug DeMuro?

Something like that, more or less. No, this is our 100th episode, and it's a special episode, because we're gonna have, we have special things to talk about.

• 1:25Speaker 03

And somebody photoshopped 100 into a Ford GT headlight.

• 1:28Doug DeMuro?

No, that's how it looks. That's how it looks. What do you mean? Mmm.

• 1:35Doug DeMuro?

  You've never seen this?

• 1:36Speaker 03

  I'll just go verify.

• 1:36Doug DeMuro?

  You've never seen this?

• 1:37Speaker 03

No, I have not noticed that.

• 1:38Doug DeMuro?

It was for Ford's 100th anniversary. They made the lights so happy. You never knew this?

• 1:41Speaker 03

How could you? They did it for us.

• 1:43Doug DeMuro?

They only did it on one side. The other side it says 001. But that's because it's the number one best Ford of all time. Our 100th podcast, thank you so much for listening, for watching, for viewing us for 100 years.

• 1:54Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:55Doug DeMuro?

When we started this podcast, the depression was in full swing. All right, let's move on to the first news story. Lincoln Bronco, folks, I'm not gonna gloat. I'm not gonna gloat. Maybe to him. Maybe to him, because he's always saying that I'm an idiot. But I'm not gonna gloat. However, I did say on this podcast that Lincoln should make a Bronco, and then they did. A Lincoln G-Wagon, based on the Bronco. I want Lincoln to go out there and make a G-Wagon. Like Abraham himself?

• 2:29Doug DeMuro?

  Hopefully this isn't it.

• 2:31Speaker 03

No, this is a Navigator with a different Lincoln grill?

• 2:36Doug DeMuro?

What happened is, a couple of months ago, we started talking about how Lincoln should make a Bronco. Because there's a G-Wagon and it sells. And then this week, they came out and announced that they were gonna make a Bronco.

• 2:45Speaker 03

  Great.

• 2:46Doug DeMuro?

I got a buddy who works for Lincoln, and I texted him randomly a couple of weeks ago, and he was like, "Hey, hey, yeah, nice to hear from you." I hadn't talked to him like a year, two years. He goes, "Nice to talk to you. By the way, the Lincoln Bronco is a good idea." And I thought he was kidding. And it turns out, he was confirming it! Anyway, the point is this.

• 3:02Speaker 03

Um, I'm brilliant and always correct. You got anything to say to that?

• 3:05Speaker 04

I, when I saw this news story, I immediately cringed. And just thought, "I cannot handle this."

• 3:12Doug DeMuro?

I also predicted the Xterra. And, and years ago, I, coming back, and years ago, I said that Lexus should make a G-Wagon, and then they took the GX and made it like a square.

• 3:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 3:21Doug DeMuro?

And you could say that this was brilliant, but really, I was just saying that the automakers should all make off-road vehicles because that is the trend. And despite years of me banging this drum, Chevy still does not have a Raptor competitor.

• 3:32Speaker 03

Insane. This is exciting. Obviously, Lincoln should do this. Fun, fun fact, they were going to refresh the Bronco. They said this week that the Bronco is not getting a refresh at all, because it's selling well enough.

• 3:43Doug DeMuro?

It's selling well, it's on a point. Um, you know, the Corvette refresh was, they took the buttons off the flyover.

• 3:48Speaker 03

They won't even do that for the Bronco.

• 3:48Speaker 04

  This basically is the refresh.

• 3:50Doug DeMuro?

One interesting thing about this, when we were talking about it, or something I didn't say, but I've been thinking, making a Lincoln version of the Bronco is gonna be hard. The, the G-Wagon is purpose-built, ground-up as a luxury vehicle. The Bronco, no offense, is not a luxury vehicle. Like, it's not a luxury car. Like, the doors come off, the roof comes off.

• 4:09Speaker 03

It's competitive for what it is, but it's not.

• 4:11Doug DeMuro?

It's gonna be hard to turn that. It's like how all those companies try to turn Defenders into good cars, and you can't actually do that.

• 4:19Speaker 03

Dead leather, but it's still a Defender.

• 4:20Doug DeMuro?

Still Defender. It's trash. Like, that's gonna be the situation here. I'm curious how you've succeeded.

• 4:27Speaker 03

  They succeeded with the Blackwood.

• 4:28Doug DeMuro?

Blackwood. They succeeded with the Mark LT. What, what do you mean? What's your concern? They did succeed with the Navigator, but I would argue that, that, you know, the Expedition is a much, already lends itself to much more. It, it'll be very interesting to see how, does a Lincoln Bronco, the doors come off? Like, do you know what I mean?

• 4:44Speaker 03

Can you not imagine they civilized? It's certainly gonna be four-door only. They won't have a two-door.

• 4:48Doug DeMuro?

But imagine if they had a two-door Lincoln Bronco with a V8, like the Defender 90 V8.

• 4:52Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 4:53Doug DeMuro?

  That would down.

• 4:54Speaker 04

  I'm into it.

• 4:54Doug DeMuro?

  That'd be real.

• 4:55Speaker 03

  They won't.

• 4:56Speaker 04

You know, the old G-Wagon wasn't all that nice either. It was basically like Sean's bad colored G-Wagon, not that nice.

• 5:03Doug DeMuro?

But people have come to expect in today's world, the G-Wagon. They like know the, the new Defender.

• 5:09Speaker 04

Lincoln, your, your expectations are a little lower and sorry, Lincoln.

• 5:11Doug DeMuro?

I totally disagree with that. I think Lincoln makes the best cars in the three segments they're in.

• 5:17Speaker 03

They're great. I, you gotta imagine it will not have removable doors. It will not have a removable top, but it will be capable off-road and look. Like an off-road SUV.

• 5:25Doug DeMuro?

I honestly truly wonder, I mean, the Bronco's an amazing chassis.

• 5:30Doug DeMuro?

Is it easier to just start from scratch? You know, because like it, it, the Bronco is not a car where NVH is a, is a thing they're thinking about much. It's probably 84th on the list. But if you're gonna charge the kind of money they, they're gonna have to, because the Bronco's not cheap. So a Lincoln one's probably gonna start at 70. Yeah, it'll be an 80, 85 car.

• 5:47Speaker 03

You add enough carpet, you make the windows and doors not removable. So you add additional sound bedding, double pin windows.

• 5:52Doug DeMuro?

But was it designed for that?

• 5:54Speaker 03

I mean, it'll be a lot of extra weight. It'll be tough. I, I, I do kinda wonder if they'll actually just shorten like the Expedition chassis. Or the Navigator.

• 6:02Doug DeMuro?

People wouldn't let them though. If they, if they were like, we're gonna do a Lincoln Bronco and then they came out with a Navigator based thing that looks.

• 6:08Speaker 03

Or like a whatever chassis they use for the Aviator, which is a car that might still exist.

• 6:12Doug DeMuro?

Well, it's the, it's the, remember the Explorer chassis, which is rear wheel drive. It's actually a pretty good chassis.

• 6:16Speaker 03

  They could just use that.

• 6:17Doug DeMuro?

But it, it won't have any off-road credibility.

• 6:19Speaker 03

But then you add some tech, you know?

• 6:20Speaker 04

I, I think they can screw this out. I mean, and also some, some, some light strips on the interior, some ambient lighting.

• 6:26Speaker 03

You make it look a little off-roady, you add a crawl control, you're done.

• 6:30Speaker 04

Benchmark this to the Yukon Denali, not to the G-Wagon. So they, they're able to take a Yukon, kind of a boring car.

• 6:35Speaker 03

They'd argue they already have a.

• 6:36Doug DeMuro?

  But that's the Navigator.

• 6:37Speaker 04

I, I agree, but this is the Bronco equivalent, like a Denali trim level.

• 6:41Doug DeMuro?

The Denali is the luxury trim. You're talking about the Yukon AT4.

• 6:44Speaker 04

No, I'm saying this is like a Denali-ified version of the Bronco.

• 6:47Doug DeMuro?

  Okay, got it.

• 6:48Speaker 04

They will put nicer springs in it, they'll put some sound deadening in it.

• 6:50Doug DeMuro?

So you're saying they're not trying to make a true luxury vehicle?

• 6:52Speaker 04

It's not a one, it's not a complete new vehicle, it's a nicer trim level of an existing vehicle.

• 6:56Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe so, I don't know. To sell it under a Lincoln brand, they probably have certain things they want from it. I'm very curious to see how it all shakes down. Lincoln dealers will be thrilled. They will be thrilled.

• 7:06Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 7:06Doug DeMuro?

Although, to your point about the Blackwood, like, that was an idea. Like, oh, there's so many people love that 150s. It was a great idea. Let's do a Lincoln. Well, it turns out that the people who want pickup trucks don't want a luxury brand name. However, we already know from the G-Wagon and others that they are willing to do that for SUVs.

• 7:21Speaker 04

You know what he's doing right now? He's backpedaling because he gave Lincoln the idea, now that it flops, he doesn't want to be blamed for it.

• 7:28Doug DeMuro?

I don't want to be blamed, for god's sake! And I gave him the Xterra idea, and by the way, we're now gonna move on to a segment called Doug Predicts, wherein I predict the future. Doug predicts that Ferrari comes out with a manual transmission. That's the next one. I've been predicting this and the... Manual Ferrari. You're gonna double down on this? Yeah. You're stake your record on this? No, but like, come on, this is, how can they not? I got another prediction coming in about two news stories, by the way. We can move on to the next one. This is all speculative.

• 7:59Speaker 04

Yes, Lamborghini and my boy Stefan Linkman announce that they will no longer be targeting the La... You can pronounce this better, Lenzentador electric vehicle. And the funny part is they say, you know, instead of saying like Lamborghini would just, there's no demand for a luxury EV, he said it does not have the specific emotional connection that we want with our customers.

• 8:21Doug DeMuro?

It is interesting Ferrari's sitting here developing this Apple iPad, electric station wagon, and Lambo's like, nope.

• 8:28Speaker 04

Is it not a boss move to wait like one week after it drops? With a more beautiful car and be like, good luck?

• 8:34Doug DeMuro?

This car is really cool looking, I wish there was a gas version of this. It's rea... I think it's like, pretty neat looking. But, yeah. I don't want an EV Lambo, so.

• 8:42Speaker 04

But, and yeah, I think, I think this is a smart move for them, both from a branding perspective of just like,

• 8:47Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 8:48Speaker 04

Like, being like, we're not like Ferrari, like, you'd feel really stupid in Maranello right now.

• 8:52Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 8:53Speaker 04

But also, like, you probably wouldn't have done that great.

• 8:54Doug DeMuro?

And those people have seen what that looks like, and so they're sitting here looking at their... Electric hatchback.

• 9:00Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 9:00Doug DeMuro?

And Lambos out like, we ain't gonna do this.

• 9:02Speaker 04

Plus, there's a plug-in version of the Urus. Like, do we need the full EV?

• 9:06Doug DeMuro?

When I was a kid, a child, a wee lad.

• 9:08Speaker 04

  Ooh.

• 9:09Doug DeMuro?

Ferrari was the company for connoisseurs and Lamborghini was the company for.

• 9:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 9:13Doug DeMuro?

Poser idiots. And we've seen some changes to that.

• 9:18Speaker 04

  Uh huh.

• 9:18Doug DeMuro?

Um, Lamborghini's still the company for poser idiots, but now so is Ferrari. But with this, you start to wonder if like, the enthusiast is maybe more the Lamborghini buyer.

• 9:29Speaker 03

Sounds like somebody that bought a Lamborghini.

• 9:32Doug DeMuro?

Well, maybe. Am I wrong though? Like, really? Like, you think about Ferrari and all the people who are buying them and the, and the colors and the options and the stupid crap that they're doing. And Lambo's doing it too, to an extent, but I just feel like there's a little bit more credibility to a degree in modern Lambos.

• 9:46Speaker 04

And you got the V12 staying in the Veyron though. Like, their design language has been great. Like, they're, they're making some smart moves.

• 9:52Speaker 03

  They're more genuinely them.

• 9:54Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, right. We just need a Mu comeback.

• 9:56Speaker 04

What, what's great too is they can always change their mind. Like, they got the free press out of this, just to be like, sorry Ferrari.

• 10:02Doug DeMuro?

You know that someday they're gonna, right? But like, saying now, hey, we're not doing this, that's real. And there's, there's a some cost fallacy that if you're an automaker is sometimes hard to ignore. Like, Ferrari shouldn't do it. Like, if you look at all the other EV supercars, they've all failed. They're all disasters. Ferrari shouldn't, but they've gone this far. A real company, like Stellantis, who canceled whatever they were, remember they had all sorts of EVs?

• 10:24Speaker 03

  They canceled everything.

• 10:25Doug DeMuro?

Canceled them all. That's what a real company is.

• 10:28Speaker 03

Fucking hybrid that was actively for sale.

• 10:29Doug DeMuro?

Lambo's doing this too. Ferrari has a, there's a sun call, oh, we can make it work for Ferrari.

• 10:34Speaker 03

To be fair, that is one of the benefits that Lambo has, right? They're owned by Audi.

• 10:37Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 10:38Speaker 03

And the Volkswagen Group. They, that development is all co-mingled with Porsche and Audis, et cetera. So they can get away with saying, we don't want to use that platform and that work.

• 10:45Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 10:46Speaker 03

Because they haven't invested all of their R and D budget for the last decade.

• 10:49Doug DeMuro?

  That's true also at Ferrari.

• 10:50Speaker 03

They've, they're doing it alone, fundamentally.

• 10:53Doug DeMuro?

I mean, they have more money than God. Ferrari has more money than literally God. God comes for ass for a bank.

• 10:58Speaker 03

Well, that's why they're gonna keep going, because they have more money than, than God. But Lambo has the ability to say, no, we're gonna pause.

• 11:04Doug DeMuro?

Reputation is everything to Ferrari. The whole company trades on reputation.

• 11:07Speaker 03

Their argument would be that they've always been the people moving the market forward and developing what's next. And this is gonna be what's next.

• 11:13Doug DeMuro?

And so in the world of electric hatchbacks, Ferrari will be the class leader.

• 11:17Speaker 03

  Them and the Sonic 5N.

• 11:19Doug DeMuro?

Yes. Uh, okay, that's a good news story. Here's another one. Nick, do you want to say it? And I'll say, I'll give you my future prediction.

• 11:26Speaker 04

Well, last week, you all talked about the RS5 Avant, how exciting it is and how it's definitely coming to the US.

• 11:32Speaker 03

We didn't have any information about it, by the way.

• 11:34Speaker 04

But there's a, there's a little asterisk there that's bigger than the exhaust tips of the RS5.

• 11:38Speaker 03

  Which are giant.

• 11:39Speaker 04

  Which are giant, yes.

• 11:40Speaker 03

  It's wild.

• 11:40Speaker 04

That it might not be coming to the United States after all.

• 11:43Speaker 03

I will say, this is, I did a deep dive on this. So this is all coming from one YouTuber, who's very well liked and known in the Audi community, who apparently spoke to somebody at Audi, and they told him, no, we don't have a plan to bring it to the US. Nobody else has independently confirmed this. Audi has not spoken to anybody else and said this.

• 11:59Doug DeMuro?

I'm gonna tell you right now.

• 12:00Speaker 03

A little up in the air.

• 12:01Doug DeMuro?

Here's Doug's prediction. It's coming to the US.

• 12:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 12:04Doug DeMuro?

That's that. Audi created demand for this RS6. After years of being like, no, nobody wants it. Well, guess what? We do want it. And by the way, we don't want your sedan. And they don't even make an RS6 sedan anymore. That's how much people don't want it.

• 12:18Speaker 04

  True.

• 12:19Doug DeMuro?

And in fact, the RS6 forced BMW to come with the M5. I was at a BMW event three years ago where they launched the XM. Total disaster. And they admitted to me openly that they had, they made the mistake and wish they had brought the M3 wagon. But the decision had been made late enough that they hadn't seen how the RS6 had done, et cetera, and they wished the M3 wagon had come. This is gonna come to the States. It just is. And if it isn't, then it's just another example in so many of our examples of Audi not understanding its customers, its brand position, all this stuff. But you gotta assume it's coming to the US. It just is. Audi created the segment for the RS6.

• 12:53Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 12:53Doug DeMuro?

  You sent in an email?

• 12:54Speaker 03

No, I'm trying to, I want to reference the YouTuber correctly who, who had that break, and I miss who it is. Um, couple of things about it, because we didn't, we didn't have any facts last week. Uh, the RS5, uh, 2.9 liter V6 plug-in hybrid, quite heavy.

• 13:10Doug DeMuro?

  630 horse.

• 13:11Speaker 03

Yep. Real power, real performance, relatively heavy, as they all are, because it had the battery pack.

• 13:16Doug DeMuro?

  What's the weight?

• 13:17Speaker 03

  5,400 pounds, something like that.

• 13:19Doug DeMuro?

  That's not that bad, yeah.

• 13:20Speaker 03

  Um, uh.

• 13:22Doug DeMuro?

  Not good.

• 13:22Speaker 03

Yeah. I, one thing that's interesting, that that same YouTuber put it on their video. The RS4 is dead. The RS4, which has this heritage,

• 13:30Doug DeMuro?

  I know.

• 13:30Speaker 03

Especially in the community. You wanted to be five, you wanted to be six, you wanted to be seven RS4. They're all very desirable. It's dead.

• 13:36Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, although originally it was called the RS2. Like ultimately, time moves on and life soldiers on and...

• 13:41Speaker 03

  Nevertheless.

• 13:42Doug DeMuro?

This is the way life works, you know what I'm saying? Things die, things bloom again.

• 13:46Speaker 03

  Is that a smart move?

• 13:48Speaker 04

Um, I could see an RS3 sportback coming eventually. I mean, or I guess it already exists.

• 13:53Doug DeMuro?

The Autobots generally find that adding numbers gets people to buy the cars. Like, oh, I got a, like, your lease comes up, now you can get out of an A4 and get into an A5. Mentally, there's a big deal. I'm serious. But that's why they call it the S550 instead of the S500.

• 14:07Speaker 03

But is that true when the RS4 has heritage?

• 14:11Doug DeMuro?

  Does it?

• 14:13Speaker 04

It does, but Audi's nomenclature is all weird and they keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Like, if you want a B7 RS4 sized car, you get the RS3 now. The other week, I was asked to leave Warby Parker. Not by an employee, they were great, but by my wife. You see, we were in there trying on different frames, different looks, and she looked so good that I could not help myself but compliment her on how attractive she was. And that got to be a little too much for the lady, and she said I needed to go. I bought these sunglasses and left her alone, but let me just say we are both big fans of Warby Parker. They completely change the experience from being a chore to get glasses to making it super easy. Best of all, they have a virtual try-on, which is kind of insane.

• 14:57Speaker 04

You use your phone, you point it at your face, and you can try the frames on in real time. Not the janky kind either. You can tell how they'll look and feel. Producer Sean also has a pair, and he looks awesome even with that big head and the bad-colored G-Wagon. • 16:00Doug DeMuro?

I will say this, Audi, I love Audi dearly. Audi's, I should send an email over to Audi's PR guy who I love. He's one of my top five favorite PR guys.

• 16:07Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 16:08Doug DeMuro?

  People, PR people.

• 16:10Speaker 03

Let's go through it. Let's go through the list.

• 16:13Doug DeMuro?

I really do love him, partially because he tells me the truth. You know, I was thinking about this the other day. The, the difference between a PR person I love and a PR person that's fine, I love the ones that tell me the truth. Hey, this car sucks. But the next one will be good. And some PR people actually say things like that and it's lovely. But the Audi, um, if Audi doesn't bring this and does bring the Q, did bring the Q4. Which is the worst car on sale, by the way. If you're thinking about buying a Q4, don't. It's horrible. You're making a mistake.

• 16:42Speaker 03

Don't worry about the Q4 Sportback.

• 16:43Doug DeMuro?

The Q4 Sportback is actually the worst car on sale. Are those still on sale?

• 16:46Speaker 03

I think they're maybe gone. The, the new Q5 is out, the new Q6 is out.

• 16:51Doug DeMuro?

New Q5 is great. Q6 is great too, actually. This is coming.

• 16:54Speaker 03

Can I, are you aware that there's the Audi A5, you reviewed it?

• 16:58Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 16:58Speaker 03

  There's an Audi A6, which you've maybe reviewed, e-tron.

• 17:00Doug DeMuro?

  No.

• 17:01Speaker 03

  There's an Audi A6 e-tron. There's now an Audi A6 gas.

• 17:04Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 17:04Speaker 03

Which should not have been possible. That is, looks different, entirely different from the E6.

• 17:08Doug DeMuro?

  From the electric one. Yeah. Audi's, there's a, it's a little bit of a.

• 17:12Speaker 03

Yeah. The R5 though, looks phenomenal. I think the rear end with the gigantic dual exhausts, one on each side. Is a bit much for me.

• 17:20Doug DeMuro?

It is a bit much, but this is the way direct styling is going. You know, I remember when Porsches were subtle and the GT3 RS. Like even Porsche has gone into this, like, we have to show off and look ridiculous and all that. So we, we can't have, unfortunately, the C5 RS6 that we love so dearly. Those days are over. You can't just have like subtle changes.

• 17:36Speaker 03

  That's a lot.

• 17:36Doug DeMuro?

You gotta have a big vent. You gotta have big exhaust. It's the way of the world. It's still, it is still less showy than its Mercedes Benz and BMW competitors. And by the way, if they don't. Bring it here.

• 17:47Speaker 04

Have you seen the rear end?

• 17:48Doug DeMuro?

Have you seen an M3? Have you seen the front end?

• 17:51Speaker 04

  I mean, fair.

• 17:53Doug DeMuro?

If they don't bring it here, I think their reasoning is that no one's ever really tried or succeeded with a wagon this size before. It's all been the bigger ones. But I would argue that Audi has created the demand with the RS6. Mercedes was selling the E63 wagon at a trickle for a long time. RS6 showed up, it is vastly more popular than, I think it might even be more popular than the all-road version.

• 18:12Speaker 04

  Oh, certainly.

• 18:13Doug DeMuro?

I certainly see them about one to one. And then M5 had to come, and Audi can create their own demand. They have customers interested in this stuff. And I'm gonna say it right here on this podcast. If Audi brings this car to the United States, Nick will buy one new. Nick will buy one new if Audi brings it to the United States.

• 18:29Speaker 04

That is a bold prediction, all right.

• 18:31Doug DeMuro?

I'm not predicting, I'm saying you've now committed to this.

• 18:33Speaker 04

  Well, you committed for me.

• 18:35Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 18:35Speaker 04

If there's the right financing deal, perhaps.

• 18:38Speaker 00

Coca-Cola. For the big, for the small, the short, and the tall. Peacemakers, risk takers. For the optimists, pessimists. For long-distance love. For introverts and extroverts. The thinkers and the doers. For old friends and new. Coca-Cola. For everyone. Pick up some Coca-Cola at a store near you.

• 19:10Doug DeMuro?

  What's that deal?

• 19:10Speaker 04

  I, mm.

• 19:14Speaker 04

I don't know what, like, a lease cost, but all right.

• 19:18Doug DeMuro?

  What a lease cost.

• 19:19Speaker 04

  500 a month?

• 19:20Doug DeMuro?

  500 a month, yeah.

• 19:21Speaker 04

  No, it's not bad.

• 19:22Doug DeMuro?

  A3 base. He's gonna Q4 E-tron.

• 19:25Speaker 03

You could get there with like a 100-month loan.

• 19:28Speaker 04

I'll do one of the like Ed Bullion one-time pay lease buyout things.

• 19:31Doug DeMuro?

  Okay, that doesn't.

• 19:32Speaker 03

It's gonna be more than 500 dollars.

• 19:33Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, I still like.

• 19:35Speaker 04

I imagine there would be a waitlist for this. There wouldn't be deals. People would be excited for it.

• 19:39Doug DeMuro?

  I think so too.

• 19:39Speaker 04

Very much. It might even be the most enthusiast-oriented Audi on sale when it comes out. With the RA gone.

• 19:45Doug DeMuro?

It absolutely, I truly believe this will come to the States. I truly, truly believe that. And if they don't, it's just the Q4. The Q4 and not this, it's embarrassing. But I'll get angry about it when we find out if it actually is.

• 19:57Speaker 03

Audiography, by the way, the YouTube channel.

• 19:59Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah, I follow him.

• 20:00Doug DeMuro?

Next news story, please. Oh, yes, Suzuki Jimny.

• 20:03Speaker 03

Yep, okay, this is a rendering, I guess, of, although we have spy shots, too, of the baby G-Wagon. For a long time, Mercedes said it was gonna be electric only.

• 20:12Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 20:13Speaker 03

It would, of course, be the baby G-Wagon with EQ technology.

• 20:16Doug DeMuro?

  EQ technology.

• 20:17Speaker 03

We now know that there will also be a plug-in hybrid or a hybrid of some sort in addition to the EV version.

• 20:22Doug DeMuro?

  There'll be gasoline.

• 20:23Speaker 03

  There'll be gasoline.

• 20:25Doug DeMuro?

You know what I'm worried about with this baby G-Wagon? Say you're driving around in your G-Wagon, your real G-Wagon. Aren't you a little worried that, Sean, are you worried this is gonna make us feel, yep, he's saying, yeah, even him with his old rusty, bad-colored G-Wagon, he's worried that it's gonna make him seem less legit.

• 20:41Speaker 04

I heard the rust is spreading.

• 20:43Doug DeMuro?

It's, it is. Are you, when you, when you, a full-size Range Rover man, when you see a sport, do you think to yourself, oh, this loser?

• 20:53Speaker 04

Yeah, no, it's, it's, not only do I not want to be associated with them, but it's, it's like they're just of a different planet.

• 20:59Doug DeMuro?

Different planet. You have a valuable, full-size Range Rover that, that was given to you for free and, and, and only has six illuminated warning lights. Like, the, the sport people are nothing near one.

• 21:10Speaker 04

  Yeah, no, it's trash.

• 21:12Speaker 03

It's like you when somebody pulls up next to you in a Mustang GT.

• 21:16Speaker 04

Or the Bronco Sport or the Bronco.

• 21:18Speaker 03

  Baby Ford GT.

• 21:18Doug DeMuro?

The, the Mustang GT, though, is baller. And this, I think, is gonna be a weenie car. If I'm honest. Do you think I'm wrong?

• 21:26Speaker 03

  I said, no.

• 21:27Doug DeMuro?

  It's gonna be, it's gonna be a baby G-Wagon plug-in hybrid.

• 21:30Speaker 03

Or maybe a regular hybrid, I guess, we don't know for sure.

• 21:33Doug DeMuro?

Does that matter? It's a G-Wagon Prius. People are gonna see these and laugh at them, just like people have been laughing at the baby versions of real cars since the dawn of time.

• 21:41Speaker 03

I don't know, the Range Rover Sport sells well and looks pretty decent.

• 21:43Doug DeMuro?

No, the Range Sport is a great car. That's not really what I mean, but like Boxer Cayman.

• 21:46Speaker 03

  The Disco Sport, different.

• 21:48Doug DeMuro?

Boxer Cayman, which I love dearly, after 30 years, still has the stigma. And they're now making RS version. It still has the stigma of being not the full.

• 21:58Speaker 04

And this isn't the Disco Sport, this is the Freelander equivalent. Like, this is so far.

• 22:03Doug DeMuro?

  Sharing your modern car knowledge.

• 22:05Speaker 04

We're hanging out in similar crowds.

• 22:07Doug DeMuro?

I went to a Freelander the other day, Nick, yellow convertible with like no miles on marketplace.

• 22:11Speaker 03

  We didn't buy it.

• 22:11Doug DeMuro?

It was somewhere on the other side of the country. And they sent it to me and they were like, if you bought this, you would rule Nantucket in the summer. And I was like, you absolutely would not, and I don't think you'd make it there. I saw one on the road the other day here in North Park. What? Yeah.

• 22:24Speaker 04

  They're around.

• 22:24Doug DeMuro?

Convertible Freelander. You don't send me these photos. It was too far away. I couldn't get a picture. It was up the street and I turned.

• 22:29Speaker 04

I saw you that two-door Evoque over the weekend.

• 22:31Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, I enjoyed that.

• 22:32Speaker 04

Coop, like chasing this lady down as she was going to her boutique in Del Mar.

• 22:36Doug DeMuro?

Well, that's gonna be our situation with the G-Wagon. No, I have a suspicion this is gonna sell in crazy numbers. I'm just disappointed by it. A real G-Wagon is made in Austria, Sean?

• 22:44Speaker 03

  Yeah!

• 22:45Speaker 04

Too many people buy the G-Wagons that never use them and think that they are too big and brutish. If you are finishing your senior year at a sorority in the down south and you need, you got your first job in PR, like this is gonna be the ultimate vehicle.

• 22:59Doug DeMuro?

When I started school at Emory, which was in 2006, there were two Freelander's in the sorority.

• 23:04Speaker 04

  Yup, yup, yup.

• 23:05Doug DeMuro?

  Nice.

• 23:06Speaker 03

  That's perfect.

• 23:07Doug DeMuro?

I agree. Look, from a, from a business point of view, it's gonna be awesome.

• 23:09Speaker 04

  You gotta do it.

• 23:10Doug DeMuro?

For Mercedes-Benz, it's gonna be awesome. I do wonder, every time you water down something, it does potentially have an effect on the big thing. Maserati showed us it can really screw things up. Like, no one thinks Maserati's legit anymore.

• 23:22Speaker 03

  Right.

• 23:22Doug DeMuro?

No one legit thinks Maserati's legit.

• 23:25Speaker 04

Let's just say, this is a good alternative to the Q4 Sportback.

• 23:28Doug DeMuro?

  I mean, the, the, the.

• 23:29Speaker 04

  It's moving the market up.

• 23:30Doug DeMuro?

You know what the best alternative to Q4 Sportback is?

• 23:32Speaker 04

  Walking.

• 23:32Doug DeMuro?

  Walking.

• 23:34Speaker 04

  Called it.

• 23:35Doug DeMuro?

  The city bus.

• 23:37Speaker 03

  Alright. Let's move on.

• 23:38Doug DeMuro?

Anything used, whatever this is, whatever this is.

• 23:43Speaker 03

Uh, I see, I see, I'm sorry. There was additional confirmation out of Mazda's European division that the next Miata, the N, the NE Miata, first of all, is, there's like, there are prototypes of it, they're actively working on it. It will be electrified in some way. It will not be EV, but there will be an electric component.

• 24:03Speaker 04

  Like a 12-volt battery?

• 24:04Speaker 03

Yeah, something like that. No, like a plug-in hybrid or a hybrid.

• 24:06Doug DeMuro?

They did, they also said in, in the same thing that they would remain true to their roots. I am curious. Having driven the Temerario, I'm sorry, the John Temerian, and having now looked at this RS5 Avant, which is 1,200 pounds heavier than the previous RS4 Avant, and having driven the M5 and all that, how is it possible that you stay true to your roots? Uh, and go, and go hybrid?

• 24:27Speaker 03

I think the answer is a really small battery pack.

• 24:30Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, maybe. But like, I'm looking at all these cars, like, the relative weight increase is still gonna be significant, considering what the Miata is, you know what I mean?

• 24:37Speaker 03

Yeah, fair. But it can still be the lightest car around.

• 24:40Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 24:40Speaker 03

And, and there are some EVs that are sold in Europe and other markets that are legitimately just very low-range EVs.

• 24:45Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 24:46Speaker 03

  And those are pretty light.

• 24:46Doug DeMuro?

Maybe. Yeah. It's not gonna be a low ra-

• 24:49Speaker 03

No, no, no, no. It, it will be a hybrid or something. But if you do it correctly-

• 24:52Doug DeMuro?

But you're saying, of small batteries?

• 24:53Speaker 03

Yeah. There were some, no, you could imagine they're going like a Porsche direction where there are hybrid 911s.

• 25:00Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 25:00Speaker 03

They don't add that much weight.

• 25:01Doug DeMuro?

Mm-hmm. Are you crazy? The 992 GTS, the new 992 GTS weighs 12,400 pounds.

• 25:10Speaker 03

  What is it actually?

• 25:13Doug DeMuro?

  Uh, I'm sorry, it's 11,680 pounds. Yeah.

• 25:18Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 25:19Doug DeMuro?

You know, it is 3,600 pounds and it's only 110 pounds heavier than the previous model.

• 25:23Speaker 03

But I, what was interesting about with the, the Mazda, your person said is that you, they could, they look forward to, basically, they look forward to driving with no sound at all. So I don't think that's doable, because like, the engine always runs in that, just the hybrid is important. So there will have to be a true-

• 25:39Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 25:39Speaker 03

  Hybrid component.

• 25:40Doug DeMuro?

But it can be lightish. The good news with Miata is there's not like this beloved sound that enthusiasts have to hear like in some of these cars. The bad news with Miata is that weight has always been its big thing, and I keep driving these cars with the weight, and they're all awesome. Like, Temerario, despite what the comments saying, "Oh, the V10, it's no V10, it sucks", I totally disagree, it drove great. It is heavy. It feels heavy, it drives heavy, it looks big, and the whole story with Miata is that it's not like that.

• 26:06Speaker 03

I also worry a little bit about manual transmission, which I think they have to do.

• 26:10Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 26:11Speaker 03

Honda has done it. There have been Honda hybrids that have a manual, but that's the only one.

• 26:15Doug DeMuro?

No, I did not. The original Insight and-

• 26:17Speaker 03

  The Civic.

• 26:18Doug DeMuro?

  The original Civic hybrid.

• 26:19Speaker 03

  And?

• 26:20Doug DeMuro?

  Uh, the CR-Z.

• 26:21Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 26:21Doug DeMuro?

  All had manual transmissions.

• 26:23Speaker 03

  Huh. So it's doable.

• 26:24Doug DeMuro?

  Offered.

• 26:25Speaker 04

Have they done it since, or was this-

• 26:26Doug DeMuro?

No, but the CR-Z was sold through like 15. It's not, it hasn't been that long, yeah. Uh, I worry about that too. I- We might be in the heyday of the Miata with the ND.

• 26:37Speaker 03

  I know.

• 26:37Doug DeMuro?

Like, I don't think that about the Temerario. Like, I think that is, we're still making great Lambos, the Revolto. But those car companies can add hybrid power and get away with the additional weight with that suspension technology and power and all this stuff.

• 26:51Speaker 03

  Very different.

• 26:51Doug DeMuro?

The Miata, it's gonna be a lot harder to do. Well, I'm very curious. I think, I hope that, for the Miata people's sake, I honestly hope the ND generation continues on for quite a bit longer, because I have a suspicion there's dark clouds ahead.

• 27:03Speaker 03

I also do think, I mean, they're basically saying, we have prototypes of the NE, but there's a lot of work still to do. There'll be an ND Miata for a while yet to come.

• 27:13Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 27:13Speaker 03

It's been a long run, it came out in 2014. 2014, so we're already 11, 12 years in, there'll be more.

• 27:19Doug DeMuro?

I'm excited for the NJ, the New Jersey Miata.

• 27:21Speaker 03

Do you want to say anything about it?

• 27:23Doug DeMuro?

Do you want to say anything about it?

• 27:26Speaker 03

  No.

• 27:27Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 27:27Speaker 03

  I plead the fifth.

• 27:28Doug DeMuro?

All right, uh, Miata, okay, what else we got?

• 27:31Speaker 03

  Ooh.

• 27:32Doug DeMuro?

  All right.

• 27:33Speaker 03

Apparently, BMW is not gonna make new manual transmissions. That's not saying that the cars are going away yet, but they won't develop.

• 27:41Doug DeMuro?

The Doug Predict the Future segment should get on this too, because I've been saying for so long that people should shut up about how the M3 and the M2 look, because it's the last time you're gonna get a straight-six, manual, rear-wheel-drive BMW, and guess what?

• 27:52Speaker 03

I will say, what they've said is that they, it's very unlikely that they will develop like a new transmission, like a full new transmission unit. Their argument is, there's not enough demand, they can't find a supplier to build it with the amount of demand that there would be for the new transmission, which is fair, because it's a niche take.

• 28:09Doug DeMuro?

  I guess.

• 28:11Speaker 03

And also, as a part of that, the current manual transmission can only, to BMW specifications, handle 405 pound-feet of torque. So no car, they won't offer it, in theory, in cars that make more than 405 pound-feet of torque.

• 28:24Doug DeMuro?

The current M3 makes up to 480 pound-feet of, oh, but that's the auto version. It's the, the manual is the base one that's for 406. Folks, I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna give you a top tip. If you want to have a very valuable car someday, you go pick up a new M3 stick in one of those weird colors, you bring it home, and you never once drive it. And in 30 years, that car will be worth about 15% of what you could have made in an index fund.

• 28:51Speaker 03

  You're right, I'm sorry, it's 406 M3, then 2CS, also 406.

• 28:56Doug DeMuro?

That's all it can take. Don't tune your BMWs, folks. The transmissions can only take 406 pound-feet, not a penny more.

• 29:04Speaker 03

Obviously, that's to BMW's own desires for reliability, etc. But yeah.

• 29:07Speaker 04

Which are known to be very stringent.

• 29:10Speaker 03

Do you hear about BMW transmissions?

• 29:11Doug DeMuro?

How about the fact that their trans goes up to the exact amount of torque? Like, oh, boy, I hope we didn't get one that's tuned a little more from the factory. The trans will blow.

• 29:19Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:20Doug DeMuro?

Um, I'm not surprised to hear this. The manual transmission is dying. It is whimpering.

• 29:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:26Doug DeMuro?

It is, it is, it is casting its last breath, which is why the Ford GT remains brilliant.

• 29:32Speaker 03

  Greatest car ever made.

• 29:33Doug DeMuro?

  Really?

• 29:33Speaker 03

  No.

• 29:34Doug DeMuro?

What do you think's the greatest car ever made?

• 29:35Speaker 03

I don't know. I don't have an answer to that.

• 29:37Doug DeMuro?

Honda Accord, do you think? 05 Accord Hybrid?

• 29:40Speaker 03

  There's always improvements.

• 29:41Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, wow.

• 29:42Speaker 03

  To the 05 Accord Hybrid.

• 29:43Doug DeMuro?

  CarPlay.

• 29:44Speaker 03

  CarPlay.

• 29:44Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Uh, well, this isn't surprising. Nick, your thoughts on the death of the manual transmission BMWs?

• 29:49Speaker 04

I mean, very predictable, to use your nomenclature there. I mean, we saw this coming. It's weird, this whole segment, we've been, EVs are going away, then another car's getting EV'd, and then the manual transmission's going away, then the Ferrari should come up with a manual. Everything's all over the board.

• 30:04Doug DeMuro?

There's a weird state of flux in the industry right now, and I think it's hard for the automakers to see what's gonna happen. I do think that of all the manual transmission brands out there who are still doing it, which is like Porsche, Subaru, Mazda, BMW, BMW's probably the least, the one that needs it the least. They could sell these M3s with automatics.

• 30:21Speaker 03

  They do.

• 30:21Doug DeMuro?

They sell a ton of them.

• 30:22Speaker 03

Every competition, which most of them fundamentally are.

• 30:24Doug DeMuro?

They sell a ton of them, and I think they would do just as well if it was auto-only. The C8 Corvette proved that, and many other cars.

• 30:32Speaker 03

  That's an interesting take.

• 30:33Doug DeMuro?

  C8 Corvette.

• 30:35Speaker 03

Yeah, good car. It's interesting, right? Like, it feels like EVs have pushed every automaker to innovate on power and speed, including for their automatic and gas-powered cars. Where like, the race is one of, how much horsepower can we put in this car? Can we cross 700? Can we cross 800? Can we cross 1,000 if you're Lamborghini? Like, that's the race, and it's not a surprise that without a lot of development work, the manuals can't support that.

• 31:00Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, and there's a new generation of people coming up who aren't as attached to manuals as us.

• 31:04Speaker 03

They want the sensation of speed.

• 31:06Doug DeMuro?

They want the sensation of speed.

• 31:07Speaker 03

Maybe they just buy an EV at that point.

• 31:08Doug DeMuro?

That's why at some point, you gotta ditch the Ford GT. You gotta be like, I'm out. You gotta sell it at the absolute market peak.

• 31:13Speaker 03

You gotta go to the new Ford GT, which will be at the bottom.

• 31:17Speaker 04

If you're bidding on or want a car on Cars and Bids, it's time to give a call to Hagerty, the official insurance provider of Cars and Bids. They insure all of my personal cars, from the rare and exotic cars like the SLR and the Murcielago, to my weird and quirky cars like my P38 Range Rover, my Multipla and my E55 Wagon. They make insurance for collectors like you and I, and they allow you to do declared value policies as well as project car policies so that you are covered no matter what. Whether you have a ton of mods on the car, whether it is a special one-of-one with your Corvette guy math, or anything in between, you and Hagerty can have a call. They understand cars, they get cars, and you can come up with an insurance policy that makes sense for your specific need.

• 32:01Speaker 04

Hagerty understands that cars are meant to be driven, whether that's a weekend cruise, cars and coffee, or going up to Car Week in Monterey. If you're mid-build, they've got you covered too with their vehicle under construction coverage, which is perfect if you impulse buy an E55 Wagon and need it to sit for a couple of months getting a manual swap. Plus, you get things like flatbed roadside assistance, which I've used a few times on my Arnage, a really cool magazine, valuation tools, a whole bunch more. So when you win your next auction, protect it the right way. Visit Hagerty.com for a quote. Hagerty, never stop driving.

• 32:36Doug DeMuro?

I got a little Corvette ZR1X trivia for you.

• 32:38Speaker 04

Yeah, I want to hear it.

• 32:39Doug DeMuro?

I got the ZR1X over at my house, sir. Can't say anything about it, it's under embargo. Oh, no, wait. The embargo is like the moment this pod really... It's great, everybody!

• 32:47Speaker 04

  No, okay, so...

• 32:49Doug DeMuro?

What is embargo, actually? I think it's Friday. I am. It's that one we lost. We lost a little bit too early.

• 32:54Speaker 04

Okay. Here's something for you. The ZR1X, 0.16, 1.67 seconds, 1,250 horsepower, 8.67 quarter mile, the fastest thing in the world. Take a guess what the visual distinction is from the regular ZR1.

• 33:09Speaker 03

  I've seen the car.

• 33:10Speaker 04

  Yeah, same. I, I know.

• 33:12Speaker 03

  Okay, what is it?

• 33:13Speaker 04

  Big wing.

• 33:14Speaker 03

Okay, that's his. What do you think it is? I think that the, the front trunk, hood, whatever, has slightly deeper like airflow. Do you think only the front trunk is the only distinction between the ZR1 and the craziest thing ever? Yeah, kinda.

• 33:28Doug DeMuro?

The correct answer is the badge. Exterior is exactly the same.

• 33:31Speaker 03

The wing is the same as the right.

• 33:32Speaker 04

  That's a big wing, yeah.

• 33:35Speaker 03

  With ZTK.

• 33:35Doug DeMuro?

Otherwise, literally identical on the outside. Isn't that hilarious?

• 33:39Speaker 03

  What is Chevrolet doing?

• 33:40Doug DeMuro?

Well, because I think there's gonna be an even Corvette here Corvette coming.

• 33:43Speaker 03

You can make the ZR1X a little bit visually.

• 33:45Doug DeMuro?

I was surprised, but I think they've got a pretty tight lineup of doing stuff here and there's only so much developed. There's gonna be a Zora, it's gonna have 1500 horsepower and it's gonna make people like you cry and people like you salute the flag.

• 33:57Speaker 03

  The ZR1X.

• 33:58Doug DeMuro?

  It's X, it's, it's 10.

• 34:00Speaker 03

  It's a ZR110.

• 34:02Doug DeMuro?

Okay, I have a theory and it's not substantiated, but I think X stands for all wheel drive. Just like how X stands for all wheel drive in like stupid cars. I think that it's ZR1X, because that's what it is. It's an all wheel drive ZR1.

• 34:13Speaker 03

  But it's not the E-Ray X.

• 34:16Doug DeMuro?

No, it's not, but for ZR1, they wanted to keep the ZR1 name because it's really valuable. So, how do you, because it's ZR1, but it's all wheel drive and it's cool, put an X there at the end?

• 34:26Speaker 03

Would the luxury version be the ZR1Z?

• 34:29Doug DeMuro?

  Hmm.

• 34:30Speaker 03

Like LTZ was the luxury LT.

• 34:32Doug DeMuro?

  Right, um, maybe.

• 34:35Speaker 04

I was thinking, the reason they don't, they don't distinguish it visually is because Corvette people love to explain to you why their car is special.

• 34:43Speaker 03

But that's only when it's not special.

• 34:44Speaker 04

Then that gives them the opportunity to explain it to you.

• 34:47Speaker 03

That's only when it's not special. The ZR1X is.

• 34:49Speaker 04

It doesn't matter if it's special or not. They want the opportunity, they want their placard to explain.

• 34:54Doug DeMuro?

That's so true. Ian, by the way, when you pop the hood, there is a plaque under the hood that says ZR1X and it gives all the numbers. And so, and that's the other thing I love to do is pop their hood and, and.

• 35:03Speaker 04

  And have placards, yes.

• 35:04Doug DeMuro?

  Boom!

• 35:05Speaker 03

Is this factually accurate? There's no other visual distinction?

• 35:07Doug DeMuro?

Literally the badge is the only distinct thing on the outside.

• 35:10Speaker 03

  Why?

• 35:11Doug DeMuro?

Well, Filippo, because there's gonna be a Zora. They don't have time. ZR1 came out yesterday. It literally came out yesterday and now ZR1X is coming out tomorrow. They are a bam bam bam shop. By the way, see, I want to give a shout out to the C8 Corvette. You got, the C8 Corvette is the greatest car ever. It is unbelievable. You know what? It came out six years ago. Six years ago and it is still cool and it is still exciting and it is holding its value pretty well and it is still fast. You're still into them.

• 35:37Speaker 04

Yeah. No, it's true. As far as American car goes, this is hard to think of a parallel that's been that successful for that long.

• 35:45Doug DeMuro?

People still think it's cool, like six years.

• 35:47Speaker 04

And remember the Corvette for so many years when we were kids was plagued with a terrible reputation of a horrible interior, like a also ran kind of car. And this is still an impressive car and no one says bad things about it.

• 35:59Doug DeMuro?

No one. No, everybody loved it.

• 36:00Speaker 04

Have you driven one? Yeah. You want to drive the 01X later? I rented one on Turo. It was awesome. Yeah, had a lot of fun.

• 36:06Doug DeMuro?

  It's fast. It's so cool.

• 36:07Speaker 04

It's too fast. And I was in a base. Yeah.

• 36:10Doug DeMuro?

I, I, I, I floored it today in the 01X. I can tell this now the embargo's on. I floored it today in the 01X on the freeway and it broke traction going from second to third full throttle at 75. And remember, it's a four-wheel drive car.

• 36:23Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 36:24Doug DeMuro?

I, I have it on video. It literally like, I'm like, oh my God. And then as it starts like getting through third, it like gets traction back. Thank God.

• 36:32Speaker 03

1250 is a lot of power.

• 36:33Doug DeMuro?

It's a lot of power. You have a roll on that throttle, I think.

• 36:36Speaker 03

  What's torque?

• 36:37Doug DeMuro?

Uh, it's the same as the regular 01830 because the electric motor produces torque at a different peak, you know?

• 36:43Speaker 04

The college football athletes that get this, it's gonna end some careers.

• 36:47Doug DeMuro?

Yes, although I think this car is probably.

• 36:49Speaker 04

  All-wheel drive helps, I guess.

• 36:51Doug DeMuro?

A little bit too expensive even for the college football NIL athletes.

• 36:55Speaker 03

A regular Corvette with 500 horsepower will do it.

• 36:58Doug DeMuro?

No, it did. And it has already. There was that guy in the, for, played for the Raiders. Remember who killed that woman?

• 37:02Speaker 03

I, I will say, we just sold a CA Corvette today that has 35,000 miles, three accidents. MSRP was 66 and it sold for 48.5.

• 37:12Doug DeMuro?

I mean, there's no Corvette in history.

• 37:14Speaker 03

  And 33,000 miles.

• 37:15Doug DeMuro?

There is no Corvette in history that still has this level of enthusiasm and excitement and interest. And on the subject of this news story, they killed the manual and nobody really seemed to care. The fact that they switched to a mid-engine and that it was so good and so exciting, kind of was enough to do away with all that.

• 37:29Speaker 03

Remember when you reviewed it in a Las Vegas strip mall parking lot?

• 37:32Doug DeMuro?

It was UNLV's campus. Yes, it was behind some dumpsters at UNLV's campus. We got 12 million views.

• 37:39Doug DeMuro?

And Chevy has never not given me a press car ever again. All right, what do we got?

• 37:43Speaker 03

All right, Aston is cutting 20% of their workforce.

• 37:47Doug DeMuro?

  Great.

• 37:47Speaker 03

But I will say, this is my only tie into tariffs. The tariff situation changed. We're not gonna talk about it. Let's go.

• 37:54Doug DeMuro?

Didn't they also say it was in part due to AI?

• 37:57Speaker 03

  It's in part due to

• 37:58Doug DeMuro?

I mean, which is whatever executive says.

• 37:59Speaker 03

Burning an insane amount of money and having huge debt obligations because they burn an insane amount of money every year for the last forever.

• 38:05Doug DeMuro?

Aston wants to blame tariffs. Totally fine. I personally would blame the product lineup. The DBX.

• 38:11Speaker 03

Also, the UK actually has very favorable tariff situation now, although for a period of time it was not.

• 38:16Doug DeMuro?

It's sort of favorable. And remember, there's a cap.

• 38:19Speaker 03

Actually, and there's a cap, but they're not hitting that.

• 38:21Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but it's a, it's for the whole UK and Jaguar Land Rover hits it. Well, Land Rover.

• 38:27Speaker 03

They're complaining about tariffs. They're also complaining about the Chinese market being really soft for luxury cars, which it is.

• 38:33Doug DeMuro?

If Aston would make good product. Here's what I want from Aston. All right. First off, off-road SUV. Come on. Come on. It's like the Lincoln Bronco, which I predicted. You think I'm wrong?

• 38:46Speaker 03

  A little bit, yeah.

• 38:48Doug DeMuro?

The problem with Aston is that your line of thinking is the problem, is that it has this reputation and it has to keep the same reputation. It does not succeed. Making just beautiful British cars, it is not a successful thing.

• 39:00Speaker 03

  Agreed.

• 39:00Doug DeMuro?

So you gotta go, you gotta think different. What is Aston Martin in the 21st century in 2028? Making a G-Wagon.

• 39:08Speaker 03

  I don't, maybe that sells.

• 39:10Doug DeMuro?

Maybe that sells. Have you been to Dubai? All they do is drive around in luxury off-roaders. I want them to go out the Middle East. Yeah. They got all that stuff.

• 39:19Speaker 03

Can I get a quick detour to share a little Middle East fact?

• 39:22Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 39:22Speaker 03

All right, so Lucid, American company, based in Arizona.

• 39:26Doug DeMuro?

  None of that is true.

• 39:28Speaker 03

They do have a factory in Arizona and they're considered an American EV company.

• 39:31Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 39:31Speaker 03

They have the air and the gravity.

• 39:33Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 39:33Speaker 03

They're gonna start making a midsize SUV.

• 39:35Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 39:35Speaker 03

They're not gonna, they're gonna first build it in the Middle East and at their factory they have there because they're solely funded and owned by the Saudi Investment Fund.

• 39:42Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 39:43Speaker 03

And then eventually they might bring it to the US.

• 39:44Doug DeMuro?

They're gonna build an electric vehicle in the Middle East.

• 39:49Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 39:49Doug DeMuro?

I will never forget, I went to Dubai, I don't know, 10 years ago. Actually, it was for the launch of the previous Corvette ZR1, if I recall. Uh, and I went to Dubai and um, I rented a car there, you know, at the airport there.

• 40:01Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 40:02Doug DeMuro?

And it was a Land Cruiser. That's what you have to do. I didn't really have a choice. And they said to me, sir, you have to bring this back on full. And if you don't bring it back on full, we will charge you a penalty. And they showed me what the penalty was. And I calculated it in my hotel room later, and it turned out the penalty price for fuel was a dollar and 40 cents was the penalty that I would have to pay. Per gallon, yeah. Was the penalty I would have to pay. But nonetheless, I filled it up anyway because fuel was 70 cents. Wow. And they're gonna make an electric SUV. Hopefully it doesn't look like their electric minivan. Yep. On the subject of electric minivans. The Pacifica.

• 40:38Speaker 03

  Hopefully for lucky.

• 40:39Doug DeMuro?

  You comfortable with this?

• 40:40Speaker 04

Yeah, we all thought Chrysler's down to one model, it wasn't looking good. And they showed us wrong. They said, we got a facelift for you, alright?

• 40:47Doug DeMuro?

  It was a redesign.

• 40:48Speaker 03

  But no, no.

• 40:49Speaker 04

  It's a facelift.

• 40:50Speaker 03

Sorry, if you see any other shots, it is not a facelift.

• 40:52Doug DeMuro?

Well, maybe, I was thinking that it was wild to put R and D into this vehicle and not make it reliable. So maybe they're gonna both facelift it and make it reliable.

• 41:00Speaker 03

I wanna show you the rest of it.

• 41:00Doug DeMuro?

  Ooh.

• 41:01Speaker 03

This is just, the rest of it.

• 41:04Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 41:04Speaker 03

After the A pillar, actually maybe after the grill.

• 41:06Doug DeMuro?

  Is just the same.

• 41:07Speaker 03

  It's just the same.

• 41:08Doug DeMuro?

I Googled this the other day, cuz for some reason I was just curious, like, how bad really is the reliability? It's so bad. Like, there's so many threads on every social media site being like, my Pacifica hybrid stranded my family at Disneyland. Wild.

• 41:22Speaker 03

But it's so good. I took my hybrid to Phoenix, and then to Northern Arizona, and then home, carried a giant, uh, whatever they're called.

• 41:31Doug DeMuro?

  China cabin.

• 41:32Speaker 03

  China cabin, thank you.

• 41:32Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 41:33Speaker 03

Home, it did great. It got better gas mileage than my station wagon.

• 41:36Doug DeMuro?

Do you wish that it had this front end?

• 41:38Speaker 03

  Uh, no.

• 41:39Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, it looks worse.

• 41:40Speaker 03

It looks worse, and they changed nothing else.

• 41:42Speaker 04

It looks like an import, which is the weird, you know what I mean? It looks like a Hyundai or something.

• 41:46Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, we were over here, that's, that is kinda true. We were over here, we wanted to buy these things cuz they're American.

• 41:51Speaker 03

My favorite part is that these are pretty clearly, like, they're, these are really high quality.

• 41:57Speaker 03

Like pictures of like that are supposed to be spy shots.

• 42:00Doug DeMuro?

They're supposed to be spy shots.

• 42:00Speaker 03

  Surely they're taken by.

• 42:02Doug DeMuro?

Released by Chrysler. Here's an interesting factoid for you. You want to know an interesting minivan factoid? After the election where the Trump fellow won, I got all sorts of friends. I got a lot of lib friends. I got all sorts of lib friends. They reached out to me and said, I want to buy a family car, but I want it to be built in America. And I said, well, uh, and they want a minivan. Three different people reached out to me with this exact thing.

• 42:20Speaker 03

  You have one option.

• 42:21Doug DeMuro?

And I said, well, there's a problem here because the American minivan is built in Canada and the non-American minivans are built in America. And I think, and I don't know if they have a union link. I said, you gotta make a decision here. And you know what happened?

• 42:33Speaker 03

  They all bought Sienna's.

• 42:34Doug DeMuro?

  They didn't buy minivans.

• 42:35Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 42:35Doug DeMuro?

All right, let's move on. We gotta talk about cars.

• 42:37Speaker 03

  No, there's one more.

• 42:38Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, boy.

• 42:39Speaker 04

Yes. Cybertruck, they announced that there will be a base model price reduction of 59.9 something.

• 42:45Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 42:46Speaker 04

  Basically just under 60K.

• 42:48Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 42:48Speaker 04

  They removed some options. However,

• 42:50Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 42:50Speaker 04

what they say anyways is that the, the reaction has been so favorable that they had to push out some delivery dates and then they're going to be increasing the price come March 1st, which means this reduced price was for nine days.

• 43:01Speaker 03

  Elon.

• 43:02Speaker 04

That you could get it on the configurator for 59.99. It's only going up to like 61, but basically that teaser rate was for nine days to get some press before raising it to 61.

• 43:11Speaker 03

Elon tweeted it out and said it for a very limited time and then.

• 43:14Speaker 04

Yeah, but he was indeed, I, I've had like shoes go on sale for, for longer periods of time than nine days.

• 43:20Doug DeMuro?

This one is such a mess. I love it. I actually love it. I love when successful companies are a mess because it proves that you can also be a mess.

• 43:28Speaker 03

Right. And by the way, you can just buy any Cybertruck for about 60,000 dollars.

• 43:31Doug DeMuro?

Oh yeah. I mean, use Cybertrucks. You want to get a Cybertruck for 60? Cars and Bins will help you.

• 43:36Speaker 04

What's great is if you buy the base model, no one can tell the difference.

• 43:39Speaker 03

  Yeah, of course.

• 43:40Speaker 04

  Right?

• 43:40Speaker 03

It's not true. It is cloth interior, which looks.

• 43:42Speaker 04

Yeah, but okay, on, on the road, everyone thinks you're the village idiot regardless of whether you paid 59 or 140.

• 43:48Doug DeMuro?

But we sell them on Cars and Bins and we love them.

• 43:51Speaker 03

Right, right, it's fine. Um, uh, different wheels.

• 43:55Doug DeMuro?

I was, I was next to one, uh, today and I was thinking about how Phil Chung told us that people yell at him.

• 44:03Doug DeMuro?

That's good stuff. Alright, we gotta move on to the talk.

• 44:05Speaker 03

You don't wanna talk about frunks?

• 44:06Doug DeMuro?

  Frunks.

• 44:07Speaker 03

  There's so much news.

• 44:08Speaker 04

  Some hard heading news here.

• 44:10Doug DeMuro?

This is a big news story, and I wanna clarify something. I wanna stand up for my beloved brand Ford. Ford has made the front trunk in the Mustang Mach-E an option. Although I bet you if you went and bought a Mach-E right now, they'd throw it in for free.

• 44:22Speaker 03

  How is that working?

• 44:24Doug DeMuro?

I assume that if you don't get the front trunk option, then it just doesn't come with a liner, and so there's just mechanical components there.

• 44:30Speaker 03

  Oh, sure, no liner.

• 44:31Doug DeMuro?

  And so it's 500 bucks.

• 44:32Speaker 03

Do you sell the latch? You sell the latch?

• 44:33Doug DeMuro?

Well, sure, because it's, yeah, I mean, this is how all Toyotas, Toyota EVs do not have a front trunk. You have a latch, you open it, and it's mechanical stuff. And the reason for that is, every single press launch I've gone to with an EV, the automakers told me the same thing. 94% of our customers told me they don't use the front trunk.

• 44:48Speaker 03

  They're missing out.

• 44:49Doug DeMuro?

The problem, I think, is regulatory. The front trunk is actually hard to access because they're regulatory. You have to get, there's a latch, and then there's a secondary latch, and you have to kinda go under there. Like a trunk in the back, you press a button, it pops open, right?

• 45:01Speaker 03

The Rivian trunk, you press button, the key fob, it opens. The Cybertruck trunk.

• 45:05Doug DeMuro?

For the auto, yeah, but you press the button, the key fob, but then you still have to go under there and do a little.

• 45:09Speaker 03

  You don't.

• 45:10Doug DeMuro?

  A little.

• 45:10Speaker 03

  You don't.

• 45:11Doug DeMuro?

  The Rivian's, you don't?

• 45:11Speaker 03

  Yes, you do not.

• 45:12Speaker 04

I was in one over the weekend, and they, my friends kept their baby stroller in the front trunk, and he just did it through the key fob.

• 45:18Doug DeMuro?

Well, you can do it through the key fob. You don't have to then walk up to the car and unlock.

• 45:21Speaker 03

  No, just open it automatically.

• 45:22Doug DeMuro?

Oh, then maybe we're all missing out.

• 45:24Speaker 03

I do think that that requires some amount of like sensors, etc., to make sure the car's not moving.

• 45:28Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. I mean, the electric ones, like the F-150 Lightning, it's great, but it's expensive. And I assume in a pickup truck, it's a lot more commonly used because it's lockable space.

• 45:36Speaker 04

  Are they reducing the price?

• 45:39Doug DeMuro?

  I think they are.

• 45:39Speaker 04

And taking the option out, or are they just shrinkflationist?

• 45:42Doug DeMuro?

  Some small price reduction, yeah.

• 45:43Speaker 04

  Then fine.

• 45:44Doug DeMuro?

But, but also, yeah, especially if.

• 45:45Speaker 04

It's like the airlines, alright, just charge me extra if I need the overhead space or what have you.

• 45:49Doug DeMuro?

  Or a bathroom.

• 45:50Speaker 04

  Spirit Airlines, let's do that.

• 45:51Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 45:52Speaker 04

  I only need three wheels.

• 45:53Doug DeMuro?

If truly 94% of people don't use the front trunk, then it does make sense. Nobody ever uses their full cargo area, except for hoarder cars. You drive around, nobody's using that whole thing.

• 46:01Speaker 03

  I didn't my front.

• 46:02Speaker 04

You know what? I honestly don't even use my trunk very often. I usually just throw stuff in the backseat.

• 46:06Doug DeMuro?

  Kenan would be so mad.

• 46:07Speaker 04

I learned from Kenan. Kenan, like, it could be the smallest little item that could easily fit.

• 46:12Doug DeMuro?

The storage area is for storage.

• 46:13Speaker 03

Under the cover so that it doesn't move around.

• 46:15Speaker 04

It does make me feel kinda like civilized and fancy to use the trunk now. I'm like, I'm following the procedure.

• 46:21Speaker 03

P38 trunks stay up on its own.

• 46:23Speaker 04

Uh, yeah, well, you have to reset the latch every time, otherwise it doesn't close all the way and then it beeps at you. Yeah. You know, I'm all about finding value. Whether it's an E55 wagon with a check engine light, a Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster that had a teeny tiny trunk fire, or a free Range Rover P38 that I got from a follower, I'm all about finding a good deal. But let's talk about a different kind of asset. Acre Gold. Inflation's hitting harder than a V10 at Redline. And gas, parts, even car washes are now through the roof. Acre Gold lets you invest in real 24 karat gold bars for just a few bucks a day. It's like buying a classic car that never rusts and never breaks down.

• 47:31Doug DeMuro?

Uh, okay, now can we finally move on to the Talk Car segment? Okay, the Talk Car segment is brought to you, uh, by Nick Rochan's YouTube channel.

• 47:41Speaker 04

  All right.

• 47:41Doug DeMuro?

Nick Rochan's YouTube channel. Go to NickRochan'sYouTubeChannel.com. You should make sure you buy that ASAP. Yeah. Uh, someone will buy it and make it like a spite site, like, "I hate Nick Rochan." Oh, and Kenan's YouTube channel. Kenan had a video, went to see David Lee. Have you watched that? Uh, I've not yet. You gotta watch it. He went to see David Lee.

• 48:02Speaker 04

Doesn't this make you want to start doing vlog style content? Get in on the fun.

• 48:06Doug DeMuro?

No, I was sitting there thinking, while I was watching Kenan's video, I am so glad that when I go to car shows, I don't have to vlog.

• 48:12Doug DeMuro?

Um, okay, I want to talk about a bunch of that. I have several things to talk about. One was, I really love the C8 Corvette, which I already worked into the news. Yeah, we did well with that. Good job. Okay, I want to talk about breaking down on a car. The other day I broke down on a car. I'm not gonna say which one, but it's here in the office. We're gonna sell it on Cars and Bids. Good luck! No, we fixed it. Um, but I broke down. And what happened was, I was driving up a hill. Car broke down and I started to roll back down. And, um, this, this became interesting to me because someone honked at me. As if I was doing this for my enjoyment. Like, I have no power and I'm about to have no brakes and about to have no steering and I'm rolling down a hill, you know, with the car up. And someone's honking at me like, "You idiot!" And I'm like,

• 48:56Doug DeMuro?

and the same thing happened, my Countach broke down a couple of months ago. Uh, when the distributor failed, I also broke down and it was in the left lane of the freeway and I had to quickly get over while I was losing power. And people were honking at me and it's like, "Do you not see what's happening here? This isn't like a guy who's having fun." And it, you know, something hit me that people don't break down in cars anymore. No. And so like there's, probably 35 years ago in either of those situations, the person behind me would have gotten out and, "Hey, what can I do you for? How can I help you?" And instead now they get mad. Cause people, the, the, the, the concept of breaking down. Yeah. Has disappeared completely from like automobiles. Huh. It really has. Yeah. I truly think. Back in the day with carbureted cars and 500 odomers and all this stuff. You would, you would.

• 49:39Doug DeMuro?

Cars lasted 30,000 miles if you were lucky. Yeah. And you knew how to deal, you know, how to fix a car, you knew how to bump start, you knew how to, all this stuff.

• 49:48Speaker 04

That's so bizarre. I had never thought of that. And what's funny is we talk about it.

• 49:51Doug DeMuro?

  You break down a lot.

• 49:51Speaker 04

Range anxiety and people worried about running out of juice in the EVs. That never really happens very often either.

• 49:57Doug DeMuro?

  No, it doesn't.

• 49:58Speaker 04

Like I don't see Teslas like sitting on the side of the road waiting for a generator.

• 50:01Doug DeMuro?

That's as often as people run out of gas.

• 50:03Speaker 04

  Like, well, you know what?

• 50:06Speaker 00

Coca-Cola. For the big, for the small, the short and the tall. Peacemakers, risk takers. For the optimists, pessimists. For long distance love. For introverts and extroverts. The thinkers and the doers. For old friends and new. Coca-Cola. For everyone. Pick up some Coca-Cola at a store near you.

• 50:37Doug DeMuro?

  But I.

• 50:37Speaker 04

  It happens.

• 50:38Doug DeMuro?

It is interesting to me that like the, the response that used to be this, like this thing where you'd, your neighbor, you know, the good Sams, you'd, you'd, you'd pull over and help somebody out if they were, and now like nobody knows how to fix a car. Nobody knows how to do anything. It's all computers. And the concept of like someone breaking down is so foreign to most people. It really is. Like you. Fascinating. No, I don't.

• 50:58Speaker 04

When was the last time you broke down on the side of the road?

• 51:01Doug DeMuro?

  Me it was last week.

• 51:03Speaker 03

I have never broken outside of the road.

• 51:04Doug DeMuro?

Oh, is that true? Wow, you need it, you need, you need a headache.

• 51:08Speaker 04

That F-250 is coming soon. There's no way that doesn't have some issues.

• 51:13Speaker 03

  Yeah, I'll break that.

• 51:14Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, for sure. I'm so pumped for that for you.

• 51:17Speaker 03

That's not true. I had an X5 in North Carolina with stick and the brake lines broke while I was away from my home. So I had to drive home with no, using the handbrake as my brake. Which worked if you pulled enough.

• 51:29Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 51:29Speaker 03

It's like a mechanical linkage. Yeah.

• 51:31Doug DeMuro?

What'd you do then? You'd like do a brake job?

• 51:32Speaker 03

Yeah, then I drove it to the place to.

• 51:34Doug DeMuro?

Oh, you drove it to a place.

• 51:36Speaker 03

Uh, and then that car broke down a couple of times. But I was close to home.

• 51:39Doug DeMuro?

Your Kia Spectra, which you bought for a dollar and then drove to New Hampshire.

• 51:42Speaker 03

  Never broke down.

• 51:43Doug DeMuro?

It never broke down until we ran over it with a Land Rover.

• 51:46Speaker 03

There was a slight issue where the battery leads would disconnect a little bit and then the car would shut off.

• 51:50Doug DeMuro?

It would shut off while you were driving.

• 51:52Speaker 03

Yeah, and that was a problem when it was on the 676 across Philadelphia during rush hour. But you know.

• 51:56Doug DeMuro?

  That happened on the 676?

• 51:57Speaker 03

Yeah, and we were moving and then the car.

• 51:59Doug DeMuro?

  Oh my god.

• 52:01Speaker 03

And then you stop and you hope nobody hits you.

• 52:03Doug DeMuro?

  But it's filling.

• 52:03Speaker 03

And then you shake the battery leads and you're good.

• 52:05Doug DeMuro?

The one place people are used to cars breaking down is Philly. Cars still break down in Philly. Um, okay, that's that. Uh, Nick, the Multiplus.

• 52:14Speaker 04

It is sold and it is on its way to the East Coast. The buyer paid, so you, you were wrong that someone would chicken out.

• 52:22Doug DeMuro?

Well, I thought they would chicken out at whatever crazy number you thought it was gonna sell for. I knew it was gonna sell for that. I still think it's high.

• 52:29Speaker 03

  It's not. It's such a good car.

• 52:30Doug DeMuro?

Disappointed in it or have you not heard from it yet?

• 52:31Speaker 04

He has not received it yet, so.

• 52:33Doug DeMuro?

  Good.

• 52:33Speaker 04

  But.

• 52:34Speaker 03

He's gonna love it. It's such a cool car.

• 52:35Speaker 04

He owns a K car, or actually two K cars, so he.

• 52:38Speaker 03

  Oh, he's a bit spacious.

• 52:39Speaker 04

He's committed to that life, you know?

• 52:41Doug DeMuro?

  Bad stuff.

• 52:42Speaker 03

I love the Multiplus so much.

• 52:44Speaker 04

It is gone. I was immediately, at first I was mad at you because you trash talked the car right before the auction ended.

• 52:50Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 52:51Speaker 04

But I did reflect on it more. So I paid $7,000 for it in Europe.

• 52:55Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 52:56Speaker 04

And then I paid a lot to ship it and get it here, but basically I paid seven for it. I sold it for 10. I did great on the car.

• 53:02Doug DeMuro?

You did great on the car.

• 53:04Speaker 04

That is the math that I'm sticking with in my head.

• 53:06Speaker 03

Let me ask you a question. We lost money in the A2, too.

• 53:08Doug DeMuro?

Let me ask you a question. How much, uh, did you spend on power steering fluid, both in the engine compartment and in bottles in the car?

• 53:17Speaker 04

I don't really count fluids towards the TCO.

• 53:20Doug DeMuro?

  No fluids.

• 53:22Speaker 03

  Power steering fluid's pretty cheap.

• 53:24Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but that car, anytime you would run it, would dump all of it, pretty much.

• 53:28Speaker 04

It got great miles per gallon, so it kinda washes. Keep topping up. I did tell the new owner, Anthony, I said, I topped it up before it got on the truck, but.

• 53:37Speaker 03

  So why?

• 53:38Doug DeMuro?

But you might wanna completely refill it when it arrives.

• 53:41Speaker 03

  On the truck?

• 53:42Speaker 04

  I don't know.

• 53:42Speaker 03

  Oh, poor, that poor car.

• 53:43Doug DeMuro?

  Hopefully nothing.

• 53:44Speaker 04

  That poor car.

• 53:46Speaker 03

I spent a long time cleaning power steering fluid from our floor.

• 53:48Speaker 04

  I apologize.

• 53:49Doug DeMuro?

  From what car?

• 53:50Speaker 03

  From the floor.

• 53:51Speaker 04

  From the floor.

• 53:51Doug DeMuro?

  The floor was really bad.

• 53:52Speaker 03

The Audi A2 sold for $900.

• 53:54Doug DeMuro?

The guy who bought the A2 also was the guy who had my A-Class, and he even was the guy who had my A-Class when it got hit and destroyed. It was parked in front of his house when it got hit and destroyed, which obviously was a great thing. Not for him, I guess. I don't know.

• 54:07Doug DeMuro?

He's got real cars, and he's got these things. And he texted me, and he said, "The A2 has been great. It's so much better than the A-Class." And I'm like, "That's a low bar."

• 54:14Speaker 03

No, but it is better. We agree.

• 54:16Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, yeah.

• 54:16Speaker 03

  It's way quieter.

• 54:17Doug DeMuro?

  But I mean.

• 54:18Speaker 03

He and his family flew down from the bay and drove up.

• 54:21Doug DeMuro?

A lot of stuff's better than the A-Class, like an Elantra base.

• 54:26Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 54:26Doug DeMuro?

  Hyundai I-10.

• 54:28Speaker 03

  No.

• 54:29Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 54:30Speaker 04

  Q4 sportback?

• 54:31Doug DeMuro?

  Uh, nah.

• 54:32Speaker 04

Q4 sportback is better than anything.

• 54:34Speaker 03

What I love is I've saw so many Instagram photos of the A2 from car shows in the bay, and the first day he had it.

• 54:40Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 54:40Speaker 03

And that's probably more content than the content we produce with the car that we bought.

• 54:44Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, well, we got it here, and one of the things we discovered when we got it here, and I'm only now disclosing this to the next owner, uh, is that it sucks.

• 54:53Speaker 03

No, it's a good car of that type.

• 54:56Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, it is a good car of that type.

• 54:57Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 54:58Speaker 04

The two things I learned, one, I want to emphasize again that I won. I sold it for the most money of the three cars.

• 55:04Doug DeMuro?

  It was $100 more.

• 55:05Speaker 04

  Winning's winning.

• 55:07Doug DeMuro?

  You know what?

• 55:07Speaker 04

It could be by an inch or a mile.

• 55:09Doug DeMuro?

I think we're all winners, because the cars are all gone, although I noticed the Fiat is still over there.

• 55:12Speaker 03

The Fiat is, the buyers in Arizona, they have paid for it through Cars and Bits Safe Pay. Just, they've been out of town, and like had like a work trip, and so they're getting it picked up.

• 55:20Doug DeMuro?

And imagine coming home from vacation, do that car.

• 55:23Speaker 03

It's such a good car. It's so lovely.

• 55:25Doug DeMuro?

  Great.

• 55:25Speaker 03

It's so lovely. And by the way, it sold for less than Simone.

• 55:29Speaker 04

The Doug prediction that also came true. You predicted that I would be off that car immediately. And it would change how I looked at cars forever. And that is true. I am off of BS cars. That was not worth the effort nor money. No offense Anthony, enjoy it.

• 55:45Doug DeMuro?

No, I love it. I love that.

• 55:46Speaker 04

Well Anthony didn't pay as much as you did. My new rule is I'm not considering anything less than eight cylinders and less than 400 horsepower. Yep. Which I realize means no 911s. Other than like, no, all of them are, I guess a Cayenne I could do. But that's about it.

• 56:01Doug DeMuro?

You get a Craggy T. You get a 928. The thing is. 968? 928. 928. I don't think those ever hit 400 horsepower. No. Maybe a GTS with a little tune. The thing is, so this is it. You're just done.

• 56:12Speaker 04

  I'm done. I'm off cars.

• 56:14Doug DeMuro?

Wow. I'm sorry, your P38 doesn't have 400 horsepower? This is big!

• 56:18Speaker 04

It has eight cylinders. It can be either or.

• 56:20Doug DeMuro?

Oh, okay. Got it. This is big. You're off cars.

• 56:23Speaker 04

I'm off BS cars. I only want serious cars that are like enjoyable to own. So if I lose money, at least I can say, at least I enjoyed the experience.

• 56:32Doug DeMuro?

I gotta tell you. It's interesting because once again, you discover something after I've already discovered it.

• 56:38Speaker 04

Yeah, I know. I'm giving you this credit.

• 56:41Doug DeMuro?

Um, Nick went through what I went through in 2013, 14 in my life where I bought a bunch of cars that I always wanted and realized that they weren't really all that great. You've got that out of your system and you lost money on most of them and realized it's not worth losing money on dumb stuff.

• 56:54Speaker 04

I went through all on my YouTube channel, all the costs I incurred. Not doing the ridiculous car guy math, but the actual cost. Truth is I only lost about $1,400 all in if I count like the YouTube content. Yeah, but still not worth, more the time that I wasted on this. Like we spent months looking for one.

• 57:11Doug DeMuro?

We drove to Long Beach, it broke down a bunch of times.

• 57:14Speaker 04

Yeah, which I thought like, oh, this would be an adventure. Like, no, I was driving a 105 horsepower diesel all over California. Like why?

• 57:23Doug DeMuro?

It was cool for a minute. I'm still. I drove it one time and a guy in an E46M3 gave me a thumbs up.

• 57:27Speaker 04

  Nice.

• 57:28Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 57:29Speaker 04

It was nice to have Felipe's respect for a little while. Otherwise.

• 57:33Doug DeMuro?

There is something unfortunate that happens because we love the cheap stuff and we love the Facebook Marketplace stuff. Although cars and business where you buy your.

• 57:41Speaker 03

There is something that happens someday where you realize like I've got too much going on and I'm sick of dealing with dumb stuff. I want, if I'm gonna do the car hobby, I want it to be cars that really count. I don't mind breaking down on my Countach. If I had broken down on the A2, I would have cursed the whole world.

• 57:57Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 57:58Speaker 03

It's just not worth it to me.

• 57:59Speaker 04

The other thing that it's making me question is, I was big on the, I want to hold cars as short as possible so that I can experience as money. It takes about six months to dial in a car.

• 58:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:08Speaker 04

And then you're letting it go.

• 58:09Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:10Speaker 04

If you can keep a car for like two years, like that first six months is gonna suck while you get it dialed in.

• 58:14Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:15Speaker 04

And then you're gonna really enjoy it.

• 58:16Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 58:16Speaker 04

So I, I need to find a car that I want to hold longer.

• 58:18Speaker 03

  So you're doing holds. Interesting.

• 58:20Speaker 04

I'm not gonna like hold them forever. We're not gonna open a barn full of cars, but I don't think the multipliers have any space.

• 58:27Speaker 03

Are you, given that you following my footsteps once again?

• 58:31Speaker 04

  Ford GT next.

• 58:32Speaker 03

Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. So Countach, Ford GT, you want a 993 twin turbo? I'm thinking about selling.

• 58:37Speaker 04

No, I'm good on that one. I, I want a Diablo, which would continue my tradition of getting the next generation after years.

• 58:43Speaker 03

Uh, right. I did own the Range Rover that came after your Range Rover.

• 58:47Speaker 04

But you also, you had an RRC.

• 58:49Speaker 03

I had RRC for like six months. I owned a P, an L322 for like nine years.

• 58:53Speaker 04

  I'll get a 405 later, but.

• 58:56Speaker 03

  You won't.

• 58:56Speaker 04

  You should.

• 58:57Speaker 03

  Uh, okay.

• 58:58Speaker 04

  They're cheap.

• 58:58Speaker 03

• 1:00:23Doug DeMuro?

I want to talk about, Filippo has some top cars on here. I want to talk about the Mazda CX-5 screen for a second. Do you see this?

• 1:00:29Speaker 03

Yeah, there's a screen. There's no more knob.

• 1:00:30Doug DeMuro?

I posted my video of the CX-5, and the comments are all, "The screen ruined it. When is Mazda gonna learn buyers don't want the screen? Nobody wants the screen. The screen destroyed the whole car. Nobody wants a screen." The screen is, this is every comment. And I gotta tell you, folks, here's what I've learned. People want the screen. You've been in a Tesla? All of these modern cars have screens. And no matter how much internet people, who buy used cars and are not the market for this family small crossover, complain, screens are what people want in 2026. They're used to a screen on their phone. They're used to a screen on their iPad. They want screens. And Mazda had this horrible knob thing. The interface is a disaster.

• 1:01:15Doug DeMuro?

One of the comments that I took particular offense to, some guy was like, "Mazda buyers don't want screens." And it's like, maybe they don't. But Mazda wants to sell this car to more people than just Mazda. They're really hoping to get back some of that market share they've been losing for the last 15 years.

• 1:01:28Speaker 03

Also, every Mazda person complained bitterly about the fact that you needed to use that knob, and that the screen would turn, like you couldn't use a touchscreen.

• 1:01:36Doug DeMuro?

I agree that screens are not the best situation for everything, but you don't understand how many functions vehicles have. If you didn't have screens, there would be so many buttons, it'd be impossible. I think that there's a good medium of screen and non-screen, of like screen and climate controller screen and a few buttons. But most things should be integrated into a screen. And that, and I know that this is not gonna go over well with our car enthusiast audience, but that is what actual consumer human beings. Want to purchase who are buying new cars with their own money. And that is the thing that automakers care about.

• 1:02:07Speaker 03

Is there climate control? I see the defrost.

• 1:02:10Doug DeMuro?

In this particular car, they did take it a little too far and the climate control. There are physical buttons for defrost and defog, but for heat like heated seat is three steps. You gotta tap a thing, tap heated seat, then do a slider. It's a little too much, but it's not much too much. Like this is how it is. Most cars now you open the glove box with a screen. The glove box, Filippo. And then eventually. Corvette, though, it's got a button.

• 1:02:32Speaker 03

  Does it?

• 1:02:32Doug DeMuro?

Hell, yeah. A C8, man, if there was a stick C8, if that's ZR1X that I just drove.

• 1:02:39Speaker 03

That would not be a good situation. 1250 horsepower is too many horsepower.

• 1:02:43Doug DeMuro?

  No.

• 1:02:43Speaker 04

Yeah, manuals can't handle over 406.

• 1:02:45Doug DeMuro?

Only for BMW, to be clear. Anyway, I can't wait to get flamed in the comments for this take, but I want to, I'm going to continue repeating it because the automakers are not trying to sell the cars to the used car enthusiast, nameless anonymous internet commenters. They're trying to sell new cars to people who are used to using their cell phones.

• 1:03:04Speaker 04

And no offense, they're not just nameless internet commenters, they're YouTube commenters. Which is a particular kind of internet commenter that is not better than the general.

• 1:03:13Doug DeMuro?

I did realize the YouTube commenter age, Felipe's on his phone.

• 1:03:16Speaker 03

  No, I'm probably.

• 1:03:19Doug DeMuro?

  You're what?

• 1:03:19Speaker 03

  Don't worry about it.

• 1:03:20Doug DeMuro?

I did realize the YouTube commenter age, there was some video a couple of months ago where I was like, and I wanted to have one of these. And I had it for six, seven years and the six, seven thing. And like all the comments were like six, seven, six, seven. And I was like, oh, this is the age of YouTube commenters. This makes sense because I myself have never had the urge to comment on a YouTube video. So now I know who's doing it. It's 13 year old.

• 1:03:40Speaker 04

The guy that was commenting that I hope your BECM module fails in your Range Rover. He then posted on Reddit saying, look, he's listening to me. And I made him a point. And then all the people started coming in my next video saying, I hope your SOS module fails. And I'm just like, but that's the type of maturity you get from a YouTube commenter. Like no R and D department at Mazda or any manufacturer should be using YouTube comments for their, their user research.

• 1:04:03Doug DeMuro?

Absolutely not. That's the CX5 screen situation. Felipe, you got anything else?

• 1:04:08Speaker 03

Yeah, I want to talk about the NSX that we sold alongside our friend at Coinbase. That sold for 8,567. The buyer, Harris, picked it up a couple of weeks ago.

• 1:04:15Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:15Speaker 03

And he just other day sent me pictures of the rest of his cars.

• 1:04:18Doug DeMuro?

Oh, we're gonna put them up?

• 1:04:19Speaker 03

Well, well, well, we'll put them up.

• 1:04:20Doug DeMuro?

He's got a lot of cool stuff.

• 1:04:21Speaker 03

I'll show you guys in the meantime.

• 1:04:23Doug DeMuro?

  Oh.

• 1:04:23Speaker 03

  Evo 6, Raikkonen, RX7.

• 1:04:25Doug DeMuro?

  Z31.

• 1:04:26Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:04:26Doug DeMuro?

  Yup. RX7.

• 1:04:28Speaker 03

Uh, that's in the back of it. There's a Sharknado 6 series.

• 1:04:31Doug DeMuro?

Sharknado's got a Viper up there?

• 1:04:32Speaker 03

Uh, there is a Viper. There is a Bu Viper.

• 1:04:35Doug DeMuro?

Hard to tell from the angle.

• 1:04:37Speaker 03

There is like a Gen 2 Viper. There's a Gen 1 Viper. There's a lot of great stuff.

• 1:04:42Doug DeMuro?

  Are they all mailed up?

• 1:04:42Speaker 03

Isn't, no. They're all generally nice. Uh, so this is in very good hands.

• 1:04:47Doug DeMuro?

Good. It is nice when it goes, I honestly felt the multiple going to a K car owner was like the right person. So it also was good on his phone here.

• 1:04:54Speaker 03

Yeah, I'll take that right back now. Uh, but it basically, it is joining, uh, incredible.

• 1:05:00Doug DeMuro?

The people who buy the cars are right for the cars.

• 1:05:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:05:02Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. You know, like in the end.

• 1:05:04Speaker 04

  They're enthusiasts.

• 1:05:04Doug DeMuro?

And, and us are not right for the cars. The cars that we hold are the ones that we're right for.

• 1:05:09Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:05:09Doug DeMuro?

The cars that we move on instantly.

• 1:05:11Speaker 04

It's survivor's bias, right? Survivorship bias?

• 1:05:13Doug DeMuro?

Something like that, but not really.

• 1:05:14Speaker 03

Speaking of cars that's excellent, it's a station wagon. I just wanted to say that.

• 1:05:17Doug DeMuro?

  Your Mercedes station wagon?

• 1:05:18Speaker 03

Yeah, my, my, my family was visiting, so we had two kids, four adults in the car at pretty much all times for a week straight. Went to the beach, had beach chairs, rear facing third row. It just does everything beautifully.

• 1:05:30Doug DeMuro?

  Yup.

• 1:05:31Speaker 03

  Everything.

• 1:05:31Speaker 04

This is, this is a E-Class wagon podcast.

• 1:05:34Speaker 03

Yeah, now that you own one, we're in a good spot.

• 1:05:36Doug DeMuro?

We all do. We all have E-Class station wagons of various different ages. Mine is of course newer and better than yours, as I'm sure you're used to.

• 1:05:42Speaker 04

Well, better is, is it, how, how many horsepower?

• 1:05:44Doug DeMuro?

Uh, let's run them. Let's run them.

• 1:05:46Speaker 04

  Alright, let's do it.

• 1:05:48Doug DeMuro?

  I'm serious.

• 1:05:49Speaker 04

I still haven't driven mine, but.

• 1:05:51Doug DeMuro?

Your car's got 205,000 miles and whatever else it's got.

• 1:05:55Speaker 04

  A Ren-Tec tune.

• 1:05:57Doug DeMuro?

It doesn't have that yet, does it?

• 1:05:58Speaker 04

They had it from the previous owner.

• 1:06:00Doug DeMuro?

Any, uh, updates on that whole situation?

• 1:06:02Speaker 04

Uh, no, we fixed a check engine light.

• 1:06:04Doug DeMuro?

  Nice.

• 1:06:05Speaker 04

Turns out two wires were plugged in wrong and you just flip them.

• 1:06:09Speaker 03

And then it's getting manual swap, right?

• 1:06:11Speaker 04

It does also need the Aromatic suspension redone.

• 1:06:13Speaker 03

  Oh, yep. They do that.

• 1:06:16Speaker 04

  Other than that, it's great.

• 1:06:16Speaker 03

  How much is that?

• 1:06:17Speaker 04

I don't know. Cameron's on vacation at DC Motorworks. He's gonna.

• 1:06:21Speaker 03

You gonna do it or are you gonna do coils?

• 1:06:23Speaker 04

I don't know. He's gonna give me an estimate.

• 1:06:25Doug DeMuro?

  Is it rear only?

• 1:06:26Speaker 04

I don't know if the whole suspension needs redone, or if it's just a minor fault.

• 1:06:29Speaker 03

It depends on what's wrong, but it's not a hard thing.

• 1:06:31Speaker 04

It's a fault code, so it could be minor.

• 1:06:33Doug DeMuro?

  No, it's broken.

• 1:06:34Speaker 03

I did learn, because we obviously had a human in the trunk of the station wagon, in and out and out, and the rear is air suspension, which it is in this and on yours.

• 1:06:44Doug DeMuro?

  Mine's got four-wheelers.

• 1:06:45Speaker 03

  Does it really?

• 1:06:46Doug DeMuro?

  Dude, I'm next level.

• 1:06:47Speaker 03

You don't even have massage seats, man.

• 1:06:49Doug DeMuro?

  I know.

• 1:06:50Speaker 03

You didn't have cooled seats, I don't think.

• 1:06:51Doug DeMuro?

I do. It was hard to find.

• 1:06:52Speaker 03

  Well, I got both.

• 1:06:54Speaker 04

I got heated rears. You got heated rears?

• 1:06:55Speaker 03

Yeah, of course. You don't understand my car.

• 1:06:59Doug DeMuro?

  They got a white interior.

• 1:07:01Speaker 03

Yeah, that's a problem. Regardless, I could hear the pump for the rear suspension making some noise.

• 1:07:07Speaker 04

Well, it is supposed to make some noise.

• 1:07:09Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:07:10Speaker 04

  Is this your car?

• 1:07:11Speaker 03

  Yeah, it's my car.

• 1:07:11Speaker 04

Yeah, I thought yours was just brown.

• 1:07:12Doug DeMuro?

  It is brown.

• 1:07:13Speaker 04

It's hard to show up brown. It really almost always shows.

• 1:07:16Speaker 03

Moka Black, is what it's called.

• 1:07:17Doug DeMuro?

E-Class station wagon is the best car in the world.

• 1:07:19Speaker 03

  Best car in the world.

• 1:07:20Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Love mine dearly, and will always have it, or one like it. Which is why, by the way, I am looking for a 2001 or 2000 E55 wagon with a third row. The ones on mobile.de that you keep sending to Sean, we've seen, they don't have third rows. If you have a third row, 2000 or 2001, that's a facelift, W210 E55 wagon, silver, with a third row, there's a bunch of these out there. You send an email to [email protected]. [email protected]. I need this car, folks. The time is ticking.

• 1:07:54Speaker 03

And ideally not converted to LPG. Not the Walorons are one.

• 1:07:57Doug DeMuro?

Not the Walorons are one. We've seen all the cars on mobile.de. They don't have a third row. Do not send it to us unless there are seat belts in that back. And I'm not talking about the second row, folks. I'm talking about the third. Let's move on to market report really quickly and talk to GTI, and then we gotta do questions. Questions of best ever this week. Best ever, same in my life. Now, get ready. G30, Nick, did you see this?

• 1:08:18Speaker 04

I, just right before we started the show.

• 1:08:20Doug DeMuro?

We wanted to talk today on the market report about how GTRs are not declining in value and cannot decline in value.

• 1:08:26Speaker 04

  That's a 13 we're looking at.

• 1:08:28Speaker 03

This has to be more than MSRP was.

• 1:08:29Doug DeMuro?

This car is 13 years old, it had 31,000 miles, which is low, but not like a...

• 1:08:33Speaker 04

  Yeah, nothing.

• 1:08:34Doug DeMuro?

No, this is a black, yeah. But still, it was a 107 sticker 13 years ago.

• 1:08:39Speaker 04

  On a Nissan.

• 1:08:40Doug DeMuro?

  Obama was president.

• 1:08:42Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:08:42Doug DeMuro?

Obama, he had just beaten Mitt Romney. You remember that? Do you even remember that? Binders full of women?

• 1:08:49Speaker 03

I do. The dog on the roof. Hot dogs, my favorite food.

• 1:08:53Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, yeah. Here we are, all these years later, and this car is still bringing all the money. The GTR market is crazy.

• 1:09:00Speaker 03

  Flat.

• 1:09:01Doug DeMuro?

Flat. Buy one of these, enjoy it for a little while, sell it. You ever want one of these?

• 1:09:05Speaker 04

  I have, actually.

• 1:09:06Doug DeMuro?

Why don't you have one of these?

• 1:09:08Speaker 04

  Maybe it'll happen.

• 1:09:09Speaker 03

They're fast, it's got the power.

• 1:09:10Speaker 04

It does have the V8, but it does surpass 400 horsepower by far.

• 1:09:13Doug DeMuro?

Have you ever driven one of these?

• 1:09:14Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:09:14Doug DeMuro?

  They are fast.

• 1:09:15Speaker 04

Yeah. A lot of people turn them into like track toys and stuff too, but...

• 1:09:20Doug DeMuro?

  And drag cars.

• 1:09:21Speaker 04

And I think they look good. They're aging nicely.

• 1:09:23Doug DeMuro?

  They're aging nicely.

• 1:09:24Speaker 03

  Performance modifications. 630 liter power.

• 1:09:27Speaker 04

  That's like the one.

• 1:09:27Speaker 03

  Modification, does?

• 1:09:29Doug DeMuro?

  No, this one.

• 1:09:30Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:09:31Doug DeMuro?

I just love a good GT.

• 1:09:34Speaker 04

The main reason I haven't bought one, Filippo, is because I wait till they get cheap and I'm still waiting.

• 1:09:38Doug DeMuro?

  And they don't get cheap.

• 1:09:39Speaker 04

  I'm waiting forever.

• 1:09:40Doug DeMuro?

Although, to your point about not wanting to lose money in BS cars anymore, here's a car you don't lose money in.

• 1:09:45Speaker 04

  Perhaps, yeah.

• 1:09:46Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. You do a little Montana, you know what I'm saying?

• 1:09:50Speaker 04

Would never do that. I'm an upstanding citizen.

• 1:09:53Doug DeMuro?

  That's your market report.

• 1:09:55Speaker 04

I would just leave the price blank on the back of the bill of sale.

• 1:09:57Speaker 03

  We're gonna stop talking.

• 1:09:59Doug DeMuro?

Let the state figure out the rest. I want to move on to the question.

• 1:10:02Speaker 04

Nissan, what's it worth? 500 bucks?

• 1:10:04Doug DeMuro?

Right, a 2013 Nissan. Every other 2013 Nissan is worth $8,100 max.

• 1:10:10Doug DeMuro?

I want to move on to the market report, to the questions which are brought to you by Nick's Nose. You may have seen that Nick's Nose, there was an incident. It happened because of a paint can.

• 1:10:18Speaker 04

What was the, the paint roller?

• 1:10:21Doug DeMuro?

  Paint roller.

• 1:10:21Speaker 04

It wouldn't come off and I, like that.

• 1:10:23Doug DeMuro?

Nick hurt himself on a paint roller, folks. This is a bigger travesty than Ryan Lopez's air conditioning.

• 1:10:30Speaker 04

  It's fixed, we, we've heard it's fixed.

• 1:10:32Doug DeMuro?

The air conditioning, one, one door closes and another paint roller hits you in the face.

• 1:10:37Speaker 04

  It does.

• 1:10:38Doug DeMuro?

  I tell ya.

• 1:10:38Speaker 04

What were you painting? A fence. See, I'm, people try to make me out to be this like, west coast elitist. I paint my own fence, alright?

• 1:10:48Doug DeMuro?

You were not painting a fence.

• 1:10:49Speaker 04

I, I got pictures, I did it with my son Ryder. But yeah, our fence fell over in the, in a big windstorm. We had it rebuilt and then I, but I didn't pay extra for the painting because I can do paint. And then I started bleeding, I had white paint and blood coming down my face. And we were supposed to be somewhere at three and this was like 2:55. And I'm like, honey, I need like 10 minutes to get ready. And then I showed up, I, only Band-Aid I could find was a Paw Patrol one. So I showed up to this play day with a Paw Patrol like Nelly style face bandage.

• 1:11:20Doug DeMuro?

Oh my god, this is so on brand. You are a west coast elitist, by the way.

• 1:11:25Speaker 04

  I am not.

• 1:11:26Doug DeMuro?

  You, Nick?

• 1:11:27Speaker 04

  I hail from Ohio.

• 1:11:28Doug DeMuro?

I know, but you, you grew up on, with, with 16 watercraft.

• 1:11:34Speaker 04

13 watercraft. I grew up in a town of 30,000 people in Ohio.

• 1:11:37Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but everybody knew your family, they were the rich guys who had all the watercraft. Whenever, whenever a boat would crash over on the lake, they'd say, I bet it was one of Nick's people.

• 1:11:45Speaker 04

This is coming from the Mr. Mr. Denver here, the, the big, big fancy Denver people.

• 1:11:50Doug DeMuro?

When I was a kid, when I was a kid, my, I'll never forget this. We test drove a Jeep Cherokee.

• 1:11:57Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 1:11:58Doug DeMuro?

And my parent, an XJ. And my parents couldn't afford to buy that Jeep Cherokee. It didn't, I remember sitting in the back on the test drive, there I was into cars, they brought me along, I was five years old. Brought me on the test drive, is before car seats were required for people over one. And I remember it didn't have rear, uh, headrests. We couldn't even afford a car with rear headrests, Nick, we were impoverished.

• 1:12:18Speaker 04

  Well.

• 1:12:19Doug DeMuro?

Anyway, all the personal watercraft must have been nice though, I'm sure you had a lot of headrests on that. Uh, let's see.

• 1:12:26Speaker 03

Actually sat on a cooler for one of those.

• 1:12:29Doug DeMuro?

Oh, one of the boats only had seven seats. So when they were doing a big party, they'd just sit on a cooler, which of course was full of champagne. And caviar. Uh, the questions are great this week. And if you want to ask us a question, you go to carsandbids.com, you click on the community tab, and then, and then somewhere, Flippo's not able to do it.

• 1:12:47Speaker 03

As a result of the light, I really cannot do anything about the upper side of the screen.

• 1:12:50Doug DeMuro?

But you look nice. And then right over there somewhere, there's a podcast question section, and you can ask us questions. And folks, ask us questions. This week, they were so good.

• 1:12:57Speaker 03

  419 comments last week. Wow.

• 1:12:59Doug DeMuro?

Uh, question number one from edac33. In honor of your 100th episode, Nick, that's what this is. What were your favorite moments over the last 99 episodes? Nick, go ahead. I'll let Flippo go first.

• 1:13:10Speaker 03

You know, we spent a couple hours a week for the last 100 weeks recording this. There's so many great moments.

• 1:13:16Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, like for example, I can think of, um, well, there was, uh,

• 1:13:21Speaker 03

  There was not one moment.

• 1:13:22Doug DeMuro?

Oh, no, wait, that one got cut. Um, I think my favorite moments have been all the times that I predicted things that happened.

• 1:13:28Speaker 03

There have been a lot of delightful moments and great questions.

• 1:13:31Doug DeMuro?

Here's a good one from Scotsman in OC. Scotsman in OC. This is a great question that I really want you to think on. Dear Doug, do you think the Ferrari California has become a more attractive proposition over the years? We've talked on this show before about, yes, how we do think that, that it's gotten cheaper, that it's, that it's fast, even by There's a silver one on the site right now, right? But he makes an interesting point that I hadn't considered. Ferrari has now begun switching to hybrids and V6s. Well, the California has a naturally aspirated V8. And all this talk about how, oh, they're switching. Here's an, you want a Ferrari with an N A V8? Okay, you get a 458 Speciale, or?

• 1:14:07Speaker 03

But here's the thing, a Mondeal.

• 1:14:09Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:09Speaker 03

  Which was the predecessor.

• 1:14:11Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, I agree.

• 1:14:12Speaker 03

I go, has a gated manual.

• 1:14:14Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:15Speaker 03

And I don't see prices going up there.

• 1:14:16Doug DeMuro?

No, but it's still cool. Like I

• 1:14:19Speaker 03

Still worth thirty five thousand dollars.

• 1:14:21Doug DeMuro?

His point isn't necessarily that prices should go up. He's just asking, do you think it has become a more attractive proposition? I thought that already before it was framed as a naturally aspirated V8 to me. But now I'm sitting here thinking, this is a seventies, a fifty fifty six with some, with a little incident there.

• 1:14:35Speaker 04

  Some miles.

• 1:14:37Speaker 03

But these are all day in the eighties.

• 1:14:38Doug DeMuro?

It's an NAV eight Ferrari and it drives like a Ferrari. It steers like a Ferrari. It handles like a Ferrari and it is an NAV eight car.

• 1:14:45Speaker 04

Point, point taken, however, if you had eighty and had to buy a Ferrari, which color would you get the three sixty in?

• 1:14:52Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, I wouldn't get this. That's true. However, however, it is, it is a relatively attractive proposition. Also, a three sixty cannot put on miles like this car.

• 1:15:00Speaker 04

Yeah, I, I've, I've looked at these. I've wanted to like them. I've even thought about buying one. I just can't, I can't make myself love it.

• 1:15:07Doug DeMuro?

I don't necessarily think it is an enthusiast's car. However, I do think there is a big swath of people who should like, and if you're buying an SL. Why? If I'm in Florida.

• 1:15:15Speaker 03

You could buy a new SL or one of these.

• 1:15:18Doug DeMuro?

Yup. And boy, would I not choose the new SL. The new SL and the Audi Q four Sportback are right up there against each other with days of supply.

• 1:15:27Speaker 03

All the buttons will be sticky, maybe. Actually, this one looks incredibly nice, I have to say.

• 1:15:31Doug DeMuro?

I, I just, it's an interesting proposition. I'd rather drive around in a Ferrari, dude. You, you might rather have a new SL, but I, I'm gonna, I would rather have an NAV eight Ferrari.

• 1:15:38Speaker 03

I'd rather have a new SL.

• 1:15:39Doug DeMuro?

You'd rather have a six cylinder. Why is he standing up?

• 1:15:42Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 1:15:42Doug DeMuro?

  He does things like this.

• 1:15:43Speaker 04

  He's probably hot.

• 1:15:45Doug DeMuro?

  He messes with me.

• 1:15:45Speaker 04

  Or cold.

• 1:15:46Speaker 03

  The air is not enough.

• 1:15:48Speaker 04

Uh, I, I, I, I agree with the premise of the question and I think everyone does on the left side of their brain, the rational side. But the emotional side, much like the Lamborghini EV, it's hard to create that emotional connection with the California. Someone is stick swapping one, because what? Five of them came factory stick, like literally five, something like that. The, if, if you could manual swap it and so you'd have like a modern stick V8.

• 1:16:13Speaker 03

I, I do think that's, that's the problem with this car. The rational side of your brain will just buy. A PDK 911. Yeah. Right, for $50,000 for one in the same year. The emotional side will want something more raw.

• 1:16:26Doug DeMuro?

I don't think it's necessarily, I think there are two things, two points to consider. Number one, I don't think it's necessarily enthusiast car. I think it is for the type of person who buys a Maserati Gran Turismo.

• 1:16:34Speaker 03

Right, and then the Maserati Gran Turismo exists. And it's 12 grand.

• 1:16:37Doug DeMuro?

But that type of person dreams of having a Ferrari.

• 1:16:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:16:40Doug DeMuro?

Like, that brand is a big deal to people like that. And number two, the Ferrari 360 that you guys are talking about, you can't put miles, go back to the California letter.

• 1:16:50Doug DeMuro?

The, the, the, the miles, you can't put miles on a, a Maserati Gran Turismo like you can put on one of these.

• 1:16:55Speaker 03

  Okay, is that?

• 1:16:56Doug DeMuro?

Oh, yeah, I'm sorry. You can't put miles on a Ferrari 360 like you could put on one of these. Mid-engine, exotic car, the interiors wear, the cars wear, et cetera. This car, the California, which we're off again.

• 1:17:07Speaker 03

  Yeah, I got distracted.

• 1:17:08Doug DeMuro?

That is not the, that is not the situation. I think this is a much more daily usable car.

• 1:17:13Speaker 04

You're, again, you're correct, but I, I think it's a styling that, that ruins it for me. I, I don't, there's just something about it.

• 1:17:20Doug DeMuro?

I just think it's not for, it's not for true enthusiasts, but I think there is a big market for it.

• 1:17:24Speaker 03

But then just buy a Gran Turismo for a third the price.

• 1:17:27Doug DeMuro?

But the people, but I'm saying, what I've said before, when you were, when you were not paying attention, is that the people, the people who want, like, want the brand, they want the Ferrari brand.

• 1:17:36Speaker 03

  But this isn't, like, nobody.

• 1:17:38Doug DeMuro?

To you, it's not, but to a lot of people, you see this, you're like, damn, you got a Ferrari.

• 1:17:43Speaker 03

I think those same people that see a California are like, damn, you got a Ferrari, would say that about a Gran Turismo.

• 1:17:48Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but Ferrari is like the vaunted brand. It's like the dream brand.

• 1:17:52Speaker 03

But I don't know how many shields you got.

• 1:17:54Doug DeMuro?

Uh, next question from 72 Offsuit. Is it just me, or is the American boomer car market crumbling? What boomer car would strike your fancy at the right price, Nick?

• 1:18:05Speaker 04

  I don't think it's just him.

• 1:18:07Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:07Speaker 04

There's definitely data to support that the, especially like the 60s muscle cars, but even the like. Like the Indianapolis pace car edition C5 and like all of these cars that appealed to the boomer demographic, they're they're getting too old for to put up with the bull that comes with those cars.

• 1:18:24Doug DeMuro?

Did you type in boomer and like?

• 1:18:27Speaker 03

  Mustangs and?

• 1:18:28Doug DeMuro?

  I just typed in Ford.

• 1:18:31Doug DeMuro?

I just want to have this.

• 1:18:32Speaker 04

So there's there's there is that I think that is true, although there are certainly exceptions to it.

• 1:18:37Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:37Speaker 04

Um, the blue chip cars will continue to do well. What car would I like?

• 1:18:41Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:41Speaker 04

There are so many, I'm I'm still.

• 1:18:43Doug DeMuro?

Really? What boomer car would you like most?

• 1:18:45Speaker 04

I'm trying to get off my boomer data, 67 Mustang that he's got sort of rotting away in a barn. Um, I I those cars sound like much like you like your Countach, the carbureted feel. They're slow by today's standards, but like there's just something visceral and raw with it that I love.

• 1:19:00Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, I would go split window. I think that the C2 is still the most probably top five most beautiful cars ever manufactured. I really truly think the C2.

• 1:19:07Speaker 04

And you do have to go more beauty than driving experience.

• 1:19:11Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, of course.

• 1:19:11Speaker 04

Like you have to understand that that's what you're doing.

• 1:19:13Doug DeMuro?

Oh, God, it's such such a beautiful car.

• 1:19:16Speaker 04

  Yeah, especially in that.

• 1:19:16Speaker 03

  I know, it's a convertible, but so.

• 1:19:18Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but like any C2, even the convertibles, even the non-split windows, but if I had to pick any of them, you'd get a.

• 1:19:23Speaker 03

  Look at that interior.

• 1:19:23Doug DeMuro?

It's so crazy. It was just a time when like design was like really at the forefront and regulations didn't force you to conform to different things. You could just do all sorts of crazy stuff. What would you get?

• 1:19:38Speaker 03

  Old truck.

• 1:19:39Doug DeMuro?

  Old truck.

• 1:19:40Speaker 04

  F250.

• 1:19:41Speaker 03

Hey, we have we'll have an F250, but like, you know, cool.

• 1:19:43Speaker 04

Was there an update on that?

• 1:19:44Speaker 03

Uh, a bunch of work's been done on it. It should I should be shipped here.

• 1:19:49Speaker 04

  Do we have an estimate?

• 1:19:50Doug DeMuro?

  For the amount of work?

• 1:19:51Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:19:52Speaker 03

  Fifteen hundred, two grand.

• 1:19:53Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:19:54Doug DeMuro?

From Frank AP, question for Doug, as a knowledgeable car person, what is the most egregious example of a car related fact that people believe to be true but turned out to be false?

• 1:20:03Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:20:03Doug DeMuro?

My favorite one of these, the most annoying one that has ever existed is the this car's only got back seats for insurance purposes.

• 1:20:11Speaker 04

That's where my head went to.

• 1:20:12Doug DeMuro?

God, that is the stupidest thing that people repeat. And when I hear people say it at Cars and Coffee, two things happen. Number one, I think to myself, oh, God, here we go again. Number two, I have to get away from this conversation as quickly as possible.

• 1:20:23Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:20:24Doug DeMuro?

The cars that have back seats have them for backseat purposes. Your insurer has a lot more data than just, does it have back? So well, then it must be a family car. Let's make it cheap. It's not how it works. Maybe it was 50 years ago, but-

• 1:20:37Speaker 03

I would believe it was at some point, but it certainly hasn't been for decades.

• 1:20:39Doug DeMuro?

Decades. You should see the models they have. How do they know to send me a bill for exactly 6,131, you know?

• 1:20:48Speaker 03

Right. You're mistaken precision for accuracy, but yeah.

• 1:20:52Doug DeMuro?

  Huh.

• 1:20:53Speaker 00

Coca-Cola. For the big, for the small, the short, and the tall. Peacemakers, risk takers. For the optimists, pessimists. For long distance love. For introverts and extroverts. The thinkers and the doers. For old friends and new. Coca-Cola. For everyone. Pick up some Coca-Cola at a store near you.

• 1:21:25Doug DeMuro?

Huh. Can you come up with another example?

• 1:21:28Speaker 04

Mine kind of related is BMW, but other manufacturers were pushing concepts such as lifetime fluid or 10,000 mile intervals, which proved to be terribly wrong. But even to this day, like the cars don't remind you to get the oil changed till like frankly, it's too late.

• 1:21:45Doug DeMuro?

Yep. And those motors all had problems because of those recommendations.

• 1:21:48Speaker 04

And all the consumers thought this was great. I don't have to change my oil is off then. And it's like, no, you're just screwing yourself. Like this is bad.

• 1:21:54Doug DeMuro?

I mean, it's a great idea in theory, but no one really put it into practice correctly. Also, it might not be possible.

• 1:22:00Speaker 04

Well, fluids, it's just like basic chemicals. They degrade over time. It doesn't matter.

• 1:22:05Speaker 03

Yeah. I think people often think big old car safe.

• 1:22:09Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:22:09Speaker 03

And that's just not how safety works.

• 1:22:10Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, that's another good one.

• 1:22:11Speaker 03

It turns out like energy dissipate and you have to have a bunch of crumble zones.

• 1:22:15Doug DeMuro?

You make them, they don't let you make cars out of steel anymore. But now they crumble, these things crumble.

• 1:22:20Speaker 03

  And that's the entire point.

• 1:22:21Doug DeMuro?

  That's the point.

• 1:22:22Speaker 03

The point is that it crumbles and you don't die.

• 1:22:24Doug DeMuro?

Totally. That's totally. That is another great one. And you see that. I see car accidents. I saw it on the freeway the other day. I didn't see it happen, but I drove by and some car had been destroyed in the front, but the passenger compartment was completely intact.

• 1:22:37Speaker 03

For a modern car, it always, like it's incredible how well engineered and designed they are. Does that mean that if you crash into somebody at 20, you might have to have a lot of repairs?

• 1:22:45Doug DeMuro?

  Sure.

• 1:22:46Speaker 03

Right. But the goal is that it then keeps you safe.

• 1:22:48Doug DeMuro?

And that's all we really care about.

• 1:22:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:22:50Doug DeMuro?

Uh, here's a great question from Jake Demathus 600. To all three, what would be your choice to replace the Dodge Charger Ford Explorer for a police vehicle, but using a car from a non-American manufacturer?

• 1:23:03Doug DeMuro?

In Europe, they have X5s. Like, in the UK, they use X5s. They have Volvo station wagons. What else? What foreign car?

• 1:23:10Speaker 04

So if I were the police force,

• 1:23:12Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:23:13Speaker 04

They want cars that blend in, so that they can kind of catch you speeding or doing something without

• 1:23:17Doug DeMuro?

I want the opposite. I love the end of the Crown Vic area, because nobody else is driving around in Crown Vic. Pretend you're a law enforcement organization. What would you buy? Not a person trying to evade the police.

• 1:23:28Speaker 04

Don't you think it would be something like a Prius?

• 1:23:30Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:23:31Speaker 04

Because you're not doing many high-speed pursuits.

• 1:23:33Doug DeMuro?

They like speed, though. They often have to, like, they're on the freeway, run radar, and then they gotta go catch up to the person, like.

• 1:23:38Speaker 03

Plug-in Prius got good downward torque.

• 1:23:40Doug DeMuro?

Zero sixteen, ten and a half.

• 1:23:42Speaker 03

  No, it's faster than that.

• 1:23:43Doug DeMuro?

  Nine and a half.

• 1:23:44Speaker 03

  Eight.

• 1:23:44Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, the new Prius.

• 1:23:45Speaker 03

  Well, you sure.

• 1:23:46Doug DeMuro?

Still, you know, you also don't want chintzy. I mean, like, the thing about these cars that's important is, they also bump into stuff. Your car breaks.

• 1:23:53Speaker 03

  Ford Escape Hybrid.

• 1:23:54Doug DeMuro?

  Huh?

• 1:23:54Speaker 03

Ford Escape Hybrid. Think about how many you've had miles.

• 1:23:57Doug DeMuro?

  This is

• 1:23:57Speaker 04

  And also American.

• 1:23:59Doug DeMuro?

  Nah, it's still too weak.

• 1:24:01Speaker 04

It probably needs to be a Toyota, then, just for durability. It's a fleet-use vehicle.

• 1:24:04Doug DeMuro?

  How about the Crown?

• 1:24:06Speaker 03

Yeah, the Crown's the obvious. It's what they do in Japan for, like, the high

• 1:24:09Doug DeMuro?

  Really?

• 1:24:10Speaker 03

No, but for, like, the, like, state police, the miracle collection that they have.

• 1:24:13Doug DeMuro?

  How about?

• 1:24:15Speaker 04

Jaguar I-Pace? You could get a good deal on them. Save the taxpayers a lot of money.

• 1:24:19Speaker 03

  Take the Waymos.

• 1:24:19Doug DeMuro?

I wonder what percentage of those ended up being sold as Waymos?

• 1:24:22Speaker 03

  All of them.

• 1:24:23Doug DeMuro?

Um, okay, what about, uh, is there anything else that's, like, kind of, what about a 4Runner? In Hawaii, they use 4Runners.

• 1:24:29Speaker 03

Yeah, 4Runner's not bad. The issue, like, I want the police department to also be really efficient with their use of taxpayer funds.

• 1:24:35Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, geez.

• 1:24:35Speaker 03

And so less, like, if it is a hybrid, if it's a plug-in hybrid of some kind, if it's something that has durability, the better fuel economy, that benefits everybody.

• 1:24:42Doug DeMuro?

I like it when the police have big V8 chargers.

• 1:24:46Speaker 03

Or when, like, this Italian police gets donated, like, a Huracan.

• 1:24:50Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Uh, Toyota Crown, 4Runner? These are our answers. Prius?

• 1:24:56Speaker 03

  The current Crown?

• 1:24:57Speaker 04

How about, like, a Civic SI? Got a little speed. It's a reasonable car.

• 1:25:01Doug DeMuro?

It's too wimpy. The cops are often using their cars to hit stuff. It happens all the time.

• 1:25:08Speaker 03

They push something out of the roadway, for sure. That does happen.

• 1:25:11Doug DeMuro?

It keeps that Civic SI crumple. We just talked about that.

• 1:25:13Speaker 03

But they have the brush guards for that reason.

• 1:25:15Doug DeMuro?

Not all of them, and often they push even if they don't have the brush guards.

• 1:25:18Speaker 03

  Then that's damage regardless.

• 1:25:20Doug DeMuro?

And that's not being efficient with the taxpayers' money.

• 1:25:22Speaker 03

  I've got it.

• 1:25:23Speaker 04

It's the Mitsubishi Eclipse, not the old one, the cross.

• 1:25:28Speaker 03

  The cross.

• 1:25:29Speaker 04

Because then you have the space, it's sturdy. Mitsubishi would love the sales. They'd make a great deal. And they're forgettable cars you wouldn't notice in traffic.

• 1:25:37Speaker 03

All right, Lexus IS, because I'm looking at what's live. Most people have just a regular IS 250.

• 1:25:42Doug DeMuro?

  You get an IS 500.

• 1:25:42Speaker 03

  Some people get an ISF.

• 1:25:44Doug DeMuro?

The, in Aspen, they use Toyota Highlanders.

• 1:25:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:25:49Doug DeMuro?

  Interested in that?

• 1:25:49Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:25:50Doug DeMuro?

  I guess it's like a Ford Explorer.

• 1:25:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:25:51Doug DeMuro?

So that would work. Okay, that's the answer. Uh, okay, I want to do two more questions. Two more questions.

• 1:25:58Speaker 03

I stand by wanting them to be easily identifiable.

• 1:26:00Doug DeMuro?

Two more questions. Two more questions. Two more questions. From Quirks and Features Fan, Doug question. You've mentioned now that you have two EV chargers installed at your house, which raises the question, what EV would you consider? Uh, Mercedes E-Class station wagon. Felipe, what EV would you consider?

• 1:26:16Speaker 03

The EQ E-Class wagon? Um, I would consider a lot of EVs.

• 1:26:20Doug DeMuro?

But you've never done that. Like, what would actually make you step in?

• 1:26:24Speaker 03

  The most attractive lease deal.

• 1:26:25Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but there have been some really attractive lease deals and you haven't done it.

• 1:26:27Speaker 03

  How have I not?

• 1:26:28Doug DeMuro?

What would make you step in and do it?

• 1:26:30Speaker 03

The problem is, even though we own four cars, five cars at the moment, things I've got on hand, uh, we need a car that can go at least 500 miles range to get to in-laws, which we do really regularly.

• 1:26:43Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:44Speaker 03

And the Lucid Air, I guess, would do that.

• 1:26:46Doug DeMuro?

Well, what about you just charge it in Yuma? For 89, for 89 bucks a month, charging it in Hila Bend, is that really so bad?

• 1:26:52Speaker 04

Hila Bend's right next to a Taco Bell.

• 1:26:53Speaker 03

We don't go through Hila Bend. We got to go to one in Yuma. Yeah, but then you got to stop in Yuma, you know?

• 1:26:59Doug DeMuro?

The sure wonderful listeners in Yuma.

• 1:27:01Speaker 03

Actually, Yuma's a cute little downtown. It's nice. Uh, I should consider more of them. I should. The, I actually am into the new Toyota BZ Woodlin and the Subaru variant that's five grand cheaper inexplicably.

• 1:27:13Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, the Trail Seeker.

• 1:27:15Speaker 03

Because it's like a little wagon-y. It's a trail seeker, right? Kind of into that. I'm strongly considering an Ioniq 5 when lease deals are really attractive. There's a lot that I consider.

• 1:27:24Doug DeMuro?

Okay, but you've never done it.

• 1:27:26Speaker 03

  I would consider a Rivian R2 or R1S.

• 1:27:29Doug DeMuro?

So the answer is there's nothing.

• 1:27:30Speaker 04

I could see him in an I- Ioniq 6 because he's contrarian and he's a bit of a contrarian vehicle.

• 1:27:34Speaker 03

  I'm the hatchback guy.

• 1:27:35Doug DeMuro?

  You know, there's now Ioniq 6 N?

• 1:27:37Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:27:37Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 1:27:38Doug DeMuro?

  That's super contrarian.

• 1:27:39Speaker 04

  Pretty cool.

• 1:27:39Doug DeMuro?

Because like everybody's on the Ioniq 5 N and it's a little gear thing.

• 1:27:43Speaker 03

I would consider a ton of, my next car will be a plug-in hybrid.

• 1:27:47Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, you know, yeah, is it? Will it? Because you, you said that a long time and then you got a truck that has a V8 and gets two miles per gallon. Oh, that was inherited. Oh, and then there's going to be some qualifier for, oh, well, that was whatever.

• 1:27:59Speaker 03

Fun fact about the, the truck, it has two gas tanks, as is common, but one of them, we would need to do a bunch of work to actually use.

• 1:28:05Doug DeMuro?

So you're just going to use the other?

• 1:28:06Speaker 03

  Just one.

• 1:28:06Doug DeMuro?

  I will tell you.

• 1:28:07Speaker 03

It's 20 gallons and that, that's got to be 200 miles.

• 1:28:08Doug DeMuro?

I will tell you, it is so nice in the Countach. Of all the compromises that car has, it is so nice to be able to just pull up at either side of the pump and never think about it.

• 1:28:18Speaker 03

Yep. Do you have to switch tanks or are there?

• 1:28:20Doug DeMuro?

No, this isn't a 40s car. Nick, what EV would you buy?

• 1:28:24Speaker 04

R2, G-Wagon EQ. Basically, any SUV that fits like a family slash daily car.

• 1:28:32Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 1:28:32Speaker 04

It's the only EV application I'm interested in. The, what's a Telluride, the K9?

• 1:28:37Speaker 03

  The EV9.

• 1:28:38Speaker 04

  EV9.

• 1:28:39Speaker 03

  Ioniq.

• 1:28:39Speaker 04

Something like that would be fine.

• 1:28:40Doug DeMuro?

  K9?

• 1:28:42Speaker 03

  They have the K5.

• 1:28:44Doug DeMuro?

  But you haven't done that.

• 1:28:45Speaker 04

I would also love to EV swap my Land Rover.

• 1:28:48Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 1:28:49Speaker 04

  Be more reliable.

• 1:28:50Doug DeMuro?

I'm not even going to touch that.

• 1:28:51Speaker 03

  What?

• 1:28:51Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:52Speaker 04

You can put like a Tesla Escape.

• 1:28:54Doug DeMuro?

No, no, wait, you, you can't.

• 1:28:55Speaker 04

I mean, I would pay a shop to do it for me.

• 1:28:57Doug DeMuro?

There is no shop in the world. Nick, that's a $40,000 job.

• 1:29:00Speaker 04

Traders will do it. It's like 100.

• 1:29:01Doug DeMuro?

  Nick, that car is worth.

• 1:29:02Speaker 03

Also, that doesn't make any sense.

• 1:29:04Speaker 04

It'd be fast, it'd be reliable, it would be.

• 1:29:07Doug DeMuro?

It still somehow would be unreliable. I don't know how, but it would. Um, Nick, how come you haven't actually done this? You've got some money.

• 1:29:12Speaker 04

You can do it. I don't got that kind of money.

• 1:29:14Doug DeMuro?

For, no, no, not that. You're talking about for the EVs. You said you'd get an R2 like.

• 1:29:18Speaker 04

I, I'm having conversations with my wife. My wife is also off cars after the multiple sale. And so we've decided to just stay the course with our current fleet.

• 1:29:27Doug DeMuro?

Okay, okay. All right, last question from JJ Silva 7. What is the manliest man car? Not an SUV, not a truck, car.

• 1:29:35Speaker 03

  Charger six pack.

• 1:29:36Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:38Doug DeMuro?

No, but I think one of those wide body chargers, probably. Right? Or like a demon?

• 1:29:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:29:45Speaker 04

I was gonna say the WS6 that you have in the basement.

• 1:29:48Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:48Speaker 04

A WS6 is about as toxic masculinity as it gets, in a good way.

• 1:29:53Speaker 03

  CA, ZR1X?

• 1:29:55Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:55Speaker 03

  Or ZR1ZTC?

• 1:29:56Doug DeMuro?

I think the two said before are a little bit more.

  Certainly an American muscle car.

• 1:29:59Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:30:00Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:30:01Doug DeMuro?

  Something like that.

• 1:30:01Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:30:02Speaker 04

Although the TRX Raptor are kinda...

• 1:30:04Speaker 03

Yeah, a truck though, you know?

• 1:30:05Doug DeMuro?

  That's our hundredth episode.

• 1:30:08Speaker 03

I should have leased an EV.

• 1:30:09Doug DeMuro?

Hundred episodes, folks. What an unbelievable experience. This STI is ending, but it'll be over by the time you watch this and you'll have seen what happened. One hundred episodes. Nick, do you have anything, any wisdom for the next hundred?

• 1:30:21Speaker 04

Well, I wonder, I mean, you've stuck to the format too, haven't you?

• 1:30:24Doug DeMuro?

  Uh, yeah.

• 1:30:25Speaker 04

Is there any desire to switch it up?

• 1:30:27Doug DeMuro?

  No.

• 1:30:28Speaker 04

  We had Hoovy on once.

• 1:30:29Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, if we have good, people are always asking to come on.

• 1:30:32Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:30:32Doug DeMuro?

One of the things that I've realized that when someone asks to come on, it means they don't watch. Cause they think we have guests, so we don't have guests. And it's like, oh, well. But I'm willing to have someone really good on. It was like, Hoovy or better? Hoovy or better? So like...

• 1:30:45Speaker 04

  Who would be?

• 1:30:46Doug DeMuro?

  Whistlin is the only one.

• 1:30:47Speaker 04

I was gonna say, you could name one person. Who would be the, the guest chair?

• 1:30:51Doug DeMuro?

Um, if we could have one person on, who would it be?

• 1:30:54Speaker 03

  I would have Whistlin.

• 1:30:54Speaker 04

I think you need to have Matt Farah on because he has you on once a year.

• 1:30:57Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:30:58Speaker 04

  Maybe for like New Years.

• 1:30:59Speaker 03

Before we did this CarPod, we did Live Now with Cars and Bits. It was a live show and he came on one.

• 1:31:03Speaker 04

  He's great.

• 1:31:04Doug DeMuro?

You know what we should have on one of these days? Is the air conditioner repairman, the technician who fixed Ryan's air conditioner.

• 1:31:11Speaker 03

  We should.

• 1:31:12Doug DeMuro?

Have him do like a blow by blow of what happened? What was so difficult about this? How we were able to finally get it solved?

• 1:31:19Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:31:20Doug DeMuro?

  Goodbye, everyone.

• 1:31:42Speaker 00
