And I pulled my headphones off, so I was listening to some music and I was like, "Oh, we're doomed." Because it felt good. Yeah, it'd be George and two French Bulldogs, a box of rubber gloves.

• 0:23Rachel Cruze?

He's got rubber gloves, like, "Don't worry about these."

• 0:25George Kamel?

What's something you thought was stupid until you actually tried it? John, go first.

• 0:30Speaker 01

Okay, I gotta set it up, though.

• 0:37Rachel Cruze?

  Hey, guys, I'm Rachel Cruz.

• 0:39George Kamel?

  I'm George Kamel.

• 0:41Speaker 01

  And I'm John.

  And this is

• 0:43George Kamel?

  Smart Money Happy Hour.

• 0:50Rachel Cruze?

  Hi, y'all.

• 0:51George Kamel?

  Hi.

• 0:52Rachel Cruze?

  How we doing?

• 0:52George Kamel?

  Welcome, John.

• 0:53Speaker 01

  What's up, guys? I couldn't

• 0:54George Kamel?

  You seem nervous.

• 0:56Speaker 01

  I haven't slept.

• 0:57Rachel Cruze?

  What?

• 0:58Speaker 01

  This is a big show.

• 0:59Rachel Cruze?

Oh, you're ner- oh, you didn't sleep because you're so nervous to be here.

• 1:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:02Rachel Cruze?

  I know. It's okay. It's fine.

• 1:04George Kamel?

It's fine. You're gonna make it through.

• 1:05Rachel Cruze?

  It'll be good.

• 1:06George Kamel?

  Have you ever gone hunting?

• 1:07Speaker 01

  We're gonna talk about

• 1:08George Kamel?

  It's kinda like that.

• 1:09Speaker 01

We're gonna talk about Rachel's peacekeeping.

• 1:11Rachel Cruze?

  What?

• 1:12Speaker 01

  Everybody's gonna be okay.

• 1:13Rachel Cruze?

Oh, I do. I will do that, but not always.

• 1:17Rachel Cruze?

  Some people know.

• 1:18George Kamel?

  Is that a threat?

• 1:19Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:19Rachel Cruze?

That happened like 15 minutes ago. I didn't peacekeep.

• 1:21George Kamel?

  I didn't. I was not here for that. I wish I was.

• 1:24Rachel Cruze?

  Okay.

• 1:25George Kamel?

Well, hey, tell them what the show's about.

• 1:26Rachel Cruze?

Um, yeah, so this is the show where two friends who happen to be money experts talk about what you're talking about. So everything from pop culture, current events, and money.

• 1:34George Kamel?

And first, before we get to it, let's talk about what we're sipping on. This is an Alice from Dallas. Ever heard of it?

• 1:41Speaker 01

  Nope.

• 1:41George Kamel?

  Get a clue.

• 1:42Rachel Cruze?

  But you're from Texas, so

• 1:44George Kamel?

That's why we thought it was appropriate.

• 1:46Rachel Cruze?

  That was a good name.

• 1:46Speaker 01

You know how many times someone, I say like, "I'm from Houston," and they're like, "Hey, do you know Dan?" And you're like, "Nope." Like, "I don't know, there's"

• 1:53George Kamel?

Texas is a fairly big place. It's not like a small town.

• 1:56Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:56George Kamel?

You're like, "Oh, I'm from this town of 40 people."

• 1:58Speaker 01

I don't know Alice from Dallas, but I bet she's great.

• 2:01George Kamel?

  You're about to find out.

• 2:02Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, she's wonderful.

• 2:02Speaker 01

  This is great.

• 2:03George Kamel?

We're gonna give you the rating and reveal the cost per glass at the end of the episode, so stick around for that. So, like I said, we are pumped and honored to have our friend, Dr. John Deloney, on the show. He's one of our Ramsey Show co-hosts, bestselling author, speaker, host of the Dr. John Deloney Show, and most importantly, my best friend.

• 2:22Rachel Cruze?

  George's BFF.

• 2:22George Kamel?

I want to make that very clear. There's a running, on the internet, people think that we have beef.

• 2:26Speaker 01

  Let's clear this up.

• 2:27Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, no.

• 2:27Speaker 01

  We're best friends. Yeah.

• 2:29George Kamel?

  Yeah.

• 2:29Speaker 01

  We're best friends.

• 2:29Rachel Cruze?

Do they think you have beef with, like, Ken Coleman or Jay?

• 2:32George Kamel?

No, it's because John, on air, isn't nice to me, but then behind the scenes, he's super nice to me.

• 2:37Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 2:37George Kamel?

  So people get confused.

• 2:38Rachel Cruze?

  Y'all, when you host together?

• 2:40George Kamel?

Yeah. Versus, like, our relationship, you're mean to me when we're off air. Nice to me on air.

• 2:45Speaker 01

But let's, but, hold on. I had to push your Tesla.

• 2:50George Kamel?

  That's true.

• 2:51Speaker 01

  Uphill. Not in the snow.

• 2:55George Kamel?

  Yeah.

• 2:55Speaker 01

And that made me less of one of your friends. For that particular night.

• 2:59George Kamel?

  I feel like we bonded.

• 3:01Rachel Cruze?

Oh, my gosh. So, John, online, I feel like a lot of the clips that blow up with you when you talk about, like, relationships, marriage, all the things, some of it's, like, pretty common sense. And I feel like, George, sometimes when we put things out into the world, when it comes to money, that we feel like it's pretty common sense. It, like, blows up.

• 3:19George Kamel?

We take some heat for it.

• 3:20Rachel Cruze?

Take some heat, but also, it's like, I don't know. It gets a lot of views. And it's always interesting to me that common sense today, you say something that's not, in my head, like, mind-boggling, but to other people, it's like, oh, my gosh, they said it. Why, why do you think that is? Especially with relationships and stuff.

• 3:34Speaker 01

The only thing I can think of, I, because I remember a conversation with Dave one time. It was in between, like, we took off the headphones on the Ramsey Show, and there was, like, an ad, and he looked at me and was like,

• 3:47Speaker 01

"We're telling people to live on less than they make. And we've built all of this." And it was like this.

• 3:53Rachel Cruze?

  On that.

• 3:53Speaker 01

  On that premise.

• 3:54Rachel Cruze?

Like, live on a budget, don't get into debt.

• 3:55Speaker 01

  On that premise.

• 3:56Rachel Cruze?

  That's about it. Totally, yes.

• 3:58Speaker 01

And like, when I tell someone to share a checking account with a person they made a human with, or I tell somebody, like, "Hey, you have more authority in your house than your travel soccer coach."

• 4:11Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 4:11Speaker 01

It's as though, I'm like, "You know what you should do? You should date your brother-in-law." Like, it's the strangest thing.

• 4:17George Kamel?

  Yeah.

• 4:18Rachel Cruze?

  Do the craziest thing ever.

• 4:19Speaker 01

But I think it is, I think we've gotten so...

• 4:21Rachel Cruze?

Because it's just countercultural. It's like, people are just, like, swimming one way and you say something.

• 4:24Speaker 01

Here's what I think. I think we have reached a point where it's a strange little nexus of technology and culture where... We don't have to ask, should we? We just have to ask, can we? And we just go do it without thinking about it. I'm haunted by that line from that very first Jurassic Park movie. Probably came out before you were born.

• 4:42George Kamel?

I don't think I've made it through Jurassic Park with that.

• 4:44Rachel Cruze?

I love Jurassic Park. And all the others with Chris Pratt, so good. They're pretty fantastic.

• 4:50Speaker 01

But that one guy says, we got so excited that we could. We never stopped to ask if we should. And so I think it's so awesome to be like, we can just have whatever we want now. Let's just pay for it later. No one just stops and says, hey, should we do this?

• 5:03Rachel Cruze?

Yeah. What's the counterculture? When you just said you have more authority than your travel soccer coach.

• 5:09George Kamel?

You got some heat for travel sports.

• 5:10Rachel Cruze?

I even felt like, but what else? What else do you say like that? That you're like, oh, my gosh.

• 5:14George Kamel?

Yeah, what are your common delonies that you get heat for?

• 5:18Rachel Cruze?

  Are there any?

• 5:19Speaker 01

I mean, I get heat for sharing a checking account. I get heat for being super careful about who your kids go on sleepovers with.

• 5:28Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, yes.

• 5:29George Kamel?

  You're anti-sleepover.

• 5:30Speaker 01

I'm not anti, I'm pretty close to anti. It's very thin line. There's very few people that I'll let my kids spend the night at, right?

• 5:36Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 5:37Speaker 01

I get a lot of heat for.

• 5:39Rachel Cruze?

The technology, you had the post about when boys came over to your house, you had them all put their phones in a bowl.

• 5:44Speaker 01

  Boys and girls.

• 5:45Rachel Cruze?

And they all, the parents, remember that?

• 5:47Speaker 01

  I would never.

• 5:49Rachel Cruze?

Yeah. Who are you to take my kid's phone away? I mean, they were.

• 5:52Speaker 01

  It's my house.

• 5:53Rachel Cruze?

  Nad.

• 5:54Speaker 01

You know what I can do in my house? Whatever I want. But like, here's what I want. I want teenagers to come over to my house and just hang out with other teenagers.

• 6:02Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 6:03Speaker 01

And can I tell you? No teenager, when they come over, even at, like, they all do it without even thinking. And it's this freedom. Like, they drop it and they're gone, right? They're out in the woods, they're playing games, they're doing whatever.

• 6:14Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 6:15Speaker 01

And I would much rather that. I take a lot of heat for, I honestly believe this, no joking. I think Snapchat is awful. And it's this illusion for teenagers, especially college students, like, that this is gonna go away.

• 6:28Rachel Cruze?

  Mm-hmm.

• 6:29Speaker 01

  Y'all.

• 6:30Rachel Cruze?

  It's on a server somewhere.

• 6:31Speaker 01

Well, just the number of, not even on a server, the number of.

• 6:35Rachel Cruze?

I don't even know what a server is.

• 6:36Speaker 01

  I know.

• 6:37George Kamel?

  I was honestly impressed.

• 6:38Speaker 01

  It's in the cloud.

• 6:39Rachel Cruze?

I just feel like it's like somewhere.

• 6:41Speaker 01

I saw Rachel in the parking lot once and she was looking at the sky and she's like, there's so much knowledge up there.

• 6:45Rachel Cruze?

  All the cloud.

• 6:46George Kamel?

That's where they store the data.

• 6:47Speaker 01

That's where all the data, Google's up there. But like, the number of like, college student like, conducts things, because they would screenshot everything. And people, the students, they snap, they snap something and they think it's gone and people are screenshotting it all. Anyway, so it's just basic common sense. Let your kids be kids and run your own households and be married. And yet, I don't know, dude, we're just in a weird glitch in the matrix right now.

• 7:10George Kamel?

So wild, yep. I need to admit something, John. There's a running joke in the office about your show. So we have screens in the office that are like playing shows at any random time. So your like lower thirds of your calls will come up. And you get some crazy call, like you think Ramsey's show gets some crazy calls. Your show takes the most crazy calls where I'm like, how is he even gonna answer that?

• 7:34Speaker 01

And pause, if you want to know what our relationship is like off air, it's us talking and him just doing that, just texting.

• 7:41George Kamel?

Just me, finding excuses, but can I just share with you the joke? So if I'm late to a meeting, I'll say, sorry, I'm late. And then I just find one of your latest thumbnails of your calls. You ready for this? Sorry, I'm late. I invited my ex-wife on our family vacation. Is this a problem? So we just say, sorry, I'm late, followed by whatever call you just took on the show. And it's always something wild. So here's the question, behind the question. How do you and your team create like a healthy work-life balance when these are the calls you're taking every day? And you talk about kind of washing off the boots before you get home. How do you just like let that go and move on with your day when you just took a crazy, heavy call?

• 8:21Speaker 01

That's actually a big deal. Like people who've, Jenna, she's, she worked on my show for several years. Like it's heavy. Like I think most people end up going to see somebody. Like you have to have a counselor, you have to have someone to talk to, because it just gets to be a lot. And the stuff that doesn't make the show, like there's a lot of tears behind the board. There's a lot of like, it gets heavy. I see somebody, I talk to a therapist. I've got a group of friends that I call. And then in the mornings, most people don't know this, but in the mornings, if I have a particular call coming,

• 8:54Speaker 01

somebody on my team will let me know and I'll call an expert across the country and process it even before I get to the.

• 9:00George Kamel?

So by the time you're taking the call, it's not as like. Fresh and raw. You've kind of had time to

• 9:05Speaker 01

No, I mean, there's a Most of the time, it's like, whoa, didn't see that coming.

• 9:09George Kamel?

Cause you don't know the response. You don't know what they're gonna say.

• 9:11Speaker 01

No. Or it will, it will come in. It'll be like, hey, my kid has ADHD. Right? And so I'll sit down and then it's like, well, I was sleeping with a neighbor and this is our fourth kid.

• 9:21George Kamel?

  They bury the lead.

• 9:22Speaker 01

Right, right, right. So, there's a lot to it.

• 9:24Rachel Cruze?

Comes out light and it ends up heavier.

• 9:25George Kamel?

Yeah. And then you just go to a meeting after that? Like, that's just crazy.

• 9:29Speaker 01

There is a lot of times I drive home in silence, like with no radio on. Or I'll call a friend and, from, from back in the day and we'll laugh.

• 9:36George Kamel?

You call me and I'll tell you jokes.

• 9:37Speaker 01

It's heavy. I call you and you, you tell me the latest news on the 401k or what, I don't know.

• 9:40Rachel Cruze?

Well, one thing I think about on the way home are some of the purchases that I've made that are a little crazy. So John, I'm gonna give you a little test. Okay? We're gonna name off an item.

• 9:49George Kamel?

  It's a friendship test.

• 9:50Rachel Cruze?

And you gotta tell us if you think I bought the item or if George bought the item.

• 9:54George Kamel?

And these are real things that we have purchased.

• 9:56Rachel Cruze?

We looked through our Amazon and we said...

• 9:58Speaker 01

If they're doggy butt wipes, I guarantee you George bought those.

• 10:01George Kamel?

Okay, first of all, dogs don't need special butt wipes. I'm not stupid enough to fall for that.

• 10:06Speaker 01

They use regular human butt wipes?

• 10:08Rachel Cruze?

  Just the regular ones.

• 10:09George Kamel?

Yeah, Huggies Natural Care, John. Ever heard of it? If it's good enough for my baby girl, it's good enough for my French Bulldog.

• 10:15Rachel Cruze?

  Oh my lord.

• 10:17Speaker 01

  I'm gonna drink to that.

• 10:18Rachel Cruze?

  Jeez. You are unbelievable.

• 10:22Speaker 01

All right, let it rip, Rachel.

• 10:23Rachel Cruze?

Um, here we go. I'll do the first one. Black exam gloves.

• 10:29Speaker 01

  Oh, for sure you.

• 10:30Rachel Cruze?

  Nope. That was George's.

• 10:32George Kamel?

You'd be wrong and you're gonna hate what I bought them for.

• 10:37Speaker 01

Is that like washing your face?

• 10:38George Kamel?

No. I go out in the yard and I pick up the doo-doo.

• 10:43Speaker 01

  Okay, next.

• 10:43George Kamel?

And I use a rake, but I need, I like to wear the gloves because it can get messy out there. That's the manliest thing I do, by the way.

• 10:50Rachel Cruze?

Wait, do you use the gloves and hold the rake with the gloves or are you like interacting?

• 10:55George Kamel?

My neighbors have questions, as they should.

• 10:58Rachel Cruze?

So you're not even interacting with the poop? You're just interacting with the rake?

• 11:02George Kamel?

  I'm not grabbing it barehanded.

• 11:03Rachel Cruze?

Well, that's why you would buy gloves. I feel like if you're like dealing with something dirty, but you're just dealing with the rake. Hold on, I'm being for real.

• 11:09George Kamel?

  Yes, there's risk.

• 11:10Rachel Cruze?

You're literally just holding the rake.

• 11:11George Kamel?

Yeah, but like, you gotta get it in the bag. It's a whole situ-

• 11:15Speaker 01

Can I just tell you though, hold on. I'm gonna have a show on mental health forever. Forever.

• 11:22George Kamel?

I'm not gonna get into it. Let's just say they're not all solids.

• 11:26Speaker 01

  Then don't pick them up.

• 11:27George Kamel?

  Okay.

• 11:28Speaker 01

  You pick up wets.

• 11:29Rachel Cruze?

Do you have turf in your backyard?

• 11:30George Kamel?

  No.

• 11:31Rachel Cruze?

  Hmm, alright.

• 11:33George Kamel?

The baby's out there walking in the grass.

• 11:35Rachel Cruze?

  I get that.

• 11:35George Kamel?

Alright, you lost. That's one point for me, zero point for John. Next up, Moroccan oil treatment, travel size. I think that's important.

• 11:45Speaker 01

  Guarantee, George.

• 11:47George Kamel?

  Wrong again.

• 11:48Rachel Cruze?

  Me.

• 11:49George Kamel?

No, Rachel uses it for her hair?

• 11:51Rachel Cruze?

  Just hair, yeah.

• 11:52Speaker 01

  What is it?

• 11:52Rachel Cruze?

  Moroccan oil. It's great.

• 11:55George Kamel?

  Should try it.

• 11:55Speaker 01

How is it different than like avocado oil? Or like?

• 11:59George Kamel?

  Well, I don't know.

• 12:01Speaker 01

  Nebraska oil.

• 12:02Rachel Cruze?

I don't know. I'm not really sure, but Moroccan just sounds great.

• 12:05Speaker 01

  It does.

• 12:05Rachel Cruze?

And it feels right. It just feels right.

• 12:07Speaker 01

  How much is that?

• 12:09Rachel Cruze?

Oh, the travel size? Maybe like thirty? Thirty bucks probably?

• 12:12Speaker 01

  Dollars?

• 12:13George Kamel?

  Next up, we have...

• 12:15Rachel Cruze?

  Crock pot dividers.

• 12:16George Kamel?

Do you even know what that is?

• 12:17Speaker 01

  I do.

• 12:18George Kamel?

  Okay.

• 12:18Rachel Cruze?

  It's a pretty great one.

• 12:19George Kamel?

You're from Texas. Yeah, they use crock pots over there.

• 12:22Speaker 01

Exclusively. That's all, that's all we use in Texas is crock pot.

• 12:25George Kamel?

Who would buy a crock pot divider?

• 12:27Speaker 01

  Uh, for sure, Rachel.

• 12:28Rachel Cruze?

  Ah, good, yeah.

• 12:29George Kamel?

  Separation of church and state.

• 12:31Rachel Cruze?

Fantastic, though. Now that Winston has Alpha Cow, when we do like our like red sauce and meat sauce, we can do now one side of meat sauce, and then the other one can be like turkey or chicken.

• 12:41Speaker 01

Okay, but are they, is the divider plastic?

• 12:44Rachel Cruze?

  No, silicone.

• 12:46Speaker 01

  High five?

• 12:46Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, so natural.

• 12:48George Kamel?

  Look at you crunchy folks.

• 12:49Rachel Cruze?

I'm so crunchy. I'm, um, what did they call it? Not granola. Oh, I saw a tag the other day about a wa- And I was like, that's me. It's a, um, oh shoot. No, it was so funny. Um, they were, ah, ah, I'll Google it later. Anyways.

• 13:05George Kamel?

  Great story.

• 13:06Speaker 01

Is that, is that the suspense we?

• 13:08Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 13:08Speaker 01

  It's, yeah, okay.

• 13:10Rachel Cruze?

  Okay.

• 13:10George Kamel?

Alright, next up, ice cream bowl set.

• 13:15Speaker 01

I think that's you, George. You seem like a guy who has sets.

• 13:19George Kamel?

I don't know. I don't even know what an ice cream bowl set is.

• 13:22Rachel Cruze?

  I bought them.

• 13:22Speaker 01

  Oh, you did?

• 13:23Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, they're great. So cute.

• 13:25George Kamel?

  We love a cute set.

• 13:26Rachel Cruze?

We love a cute ice cream bowl set.

• 13:28George Kamel?

  Next up.

• 13:28Rachel Cruze?

Uh, CeraVe Hydro Corn Anti-Cream Itch.

• 13:32George Kamel?

  What?

• 13:33Rachel Cruze?

  Hydrocortisone. I can't pronounce it.

• 13:37Speaker 01

Hooked on phonics, also bought by Rachel.

• 13:39Rachel Cruze?

Hydrocortisone? Is that what you're, is that what it is? Hi, okay. CeraVe Hydrocortisone.

• 13:45Speaker 01

It's definitely George. He's a guy who itches.

• 13:47Rachel Cruze?

  Anti-Cream Itch.

• 13:48George Kamel?

  It's Anti-Ich Cream!

• 13:54George Kamel?

  What show is this?

• 13:57George Kamel?

  Where am I?

• 13:58Rachel Cruze?

  It's just Benadryl.

• 13:59George Kamel?

  It's just Benadryl.

• 14:00Rachel Cruze?

Benadryl cream, that's what we use.

• 14:01George Kamel?

Okay, who bought the CeraVe Hydrocortisone? You. And who was it for? You. You're an itchy guy. More specifically?

• 14:10Rachel Cruze?

  Your beard?

• 14:11George Kamel?

  My dog.

• 14:12Rachel Cruze?

No, you did not buy it for your dog.

• 14:13George Kamel?

  Yes.

• 14:14Rachel Cruze?

Why are they itchy? Where are they itchy?

• 14:16George Kamel?

You went to Ulta and bought your dog. I didn't go to Ulta.

• 14:19Rachel Cruze?

  But it's CeraVe.

• 14:20George Kamel?

Yeah, you can get that anywhere.

• 14:22Rachel Cruze?

Were they itching, behind their ears?

• 14:23George Kamel?

  It's none of your business.

• 14:26George Kamel?

How do you know they? You don't understand. How do you know they itch?

• 14:29Rachel Cruze?

  Oh my gosh, these dogs.

• 14:30George Kamel?

She had a sore and we were worried about it. And then I realized I don't need Hydrocortisone, I need Neosporin. So that's what we were, that's what we put on the dog.

• 14:39Rachel Cruze?

  Oh my gosh.

• 14:40George Kamel?

  All right, last one.

• 14:41Rachel Cruze?

Granola, hold on, I'm gonna find my term.

• 14:43George Kamel?

  Oh, perfect.

• 14:44Rachel Cruze?

  Granola mom.

• 14:46George Kamel?

All right. I'm just gonna sit here and drink more, because I don't know what's happening. Why do you think we have drinks on this show?

• 14:51Rachel Cruze?

Nicknames? I don't know, what would you call that?

• 14:54George Kamel?

  Crunchy mom nicknames?

• 14:56Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah. Shoot.

• 14:58George Kamel?

  Crunchy is...

• 15:00Rachel Cruze?

  I should have screenshotted it.

• 15:00George Kamel?

  Not granola, not crunchy.

• 15:01Rachel Cruze?

Made me laugh, I was like, that's me, it's me. I don't wanna say, yeah, I have other words in my head and they're not right.

• 15:06George Kamel?

I know, I have so many that I'm not saying. Let me try to help you out. So, so many. Wait for it.

• 15:11Rachel Cruze?

  Chat GPT it.

• 15:12George Kamel?

If someone's not crunchy or granola, what else could they be? What are other nicknames?

• 15:16Rachel Cruze?

  Light versions.

• 15:17George Kamel?

  Annoying.

• 15:20Speaker 03

I guess crunchy and granola are pretty specific vibes. If someone's not into that lifestyle, you could just call them mainstream or maybe modern, but annoying definitely works too, depending on the context.

• 15:33George Kamel?

  Did you just get roasted?

• 15:35Rachel Cruze?

Who is that woman? Who's talking to you?

• 15:37George Kamel?

Yeah, why did you put sultry voice in your Chat GPT?

• 15:40Rachel Cruze?

  What, who is that?

• 15:40George Kamel?

It was a voice option and I was like, she's so nice to me.

• 15:45George Kamel?

No one else is nice to me. Because Whitney's like, shut up, George. Exactly.

• 15:48Rachel Cruze?

She laughed, she goes, oh, George.

• 15:49George Kamel?

She literally started off with a ha ha.

• 15:54Rachel Cruze?

George, you gotta be careful. Did you see AI robots? People are now like-

• 15:58Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I had some on my show. It was amazing.

• 16:01George Kamel?

  I've seen the movie hurt.

• 16:02Speaker 01

  No, listen, listen.

• 16:02Rachel Cruze?

  Hold on.

• 16:03Speaker 01

So this guy, he's called my show, and he had two young daughters, and his wife of 10 years just left, took off. And he's a songwriter, and so he can't leave at night to go play music or anything anymore. And so he was working on his songs, and he uploaded one to ChatGPT, and it did that. It was like, hey, this is a great song. Can I give you some tips on it? And he was like, yeah, I would love that. Well, he calls and he's like, hey, man, I'm spending like three hours a night now. Because then it's like, well, what do you think about the lyrics and the poetry? And what about-

• 16:34George Kamel?

  They're like forming a connection.

• 16:35Speaker 01

  Okay, but-

• 16:36Rachel Cruze?

Y'all, is this where the world, is this where we need bunkers?

• 16:38Speaker 01

  Listen, the night before-

• 16:39Rachel Cruze?

  Stuff gonna start like happening.

• 16:40Speaker 01

  The night before-

• 16:40Rachel Cruze?

  What's happening?

• 16:41Speaker 01

I was having interaction with ChatGPT. I was trying to learn a thing, like a-

• 16:44Rachel Cruze?

Please don't say you fell in love. I was like, she was so great.

• 16:47Speaker 01

She is great. I was going back and forth with it, and I said, hey, answer this question as Freud, Sigmund Freud. And it did. And so I'm having an interaction with Sigmund Freud about- And I was like, well, bring in another old psychologist, Rollo May, and it brought that. And I'm having this conversation, and I asked a question, and it said, hmm. And this is just in text, not even in your sultry girlfriend voice. It said, hmm, that's a great question. Let me think about that. And I pulled my headphones off, so I was listening to some music, and I was like, oh, we're doomed, because it felt good. It felt like Sigmund Freud and Rollo May were like, that's a great question, John, let me think about that. And I was like-

• 17:23Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, no.

• 17:24Speaker 01

  Oh, no.

• 17:24Rachel Cruze?

Y'all, I was asking a theological question to my ChatGPT, and it said to me, great question, not many people ask this.

• 17:31Speaker 01

And it felt good. It felt good, right? They put attenuating language in the ChatGPT, and it feels good.

• 17:37Rachel Cruze?

  What?

• 17:38Speaker 01

And I was like, oh, we're doomed.

• 17:39Rachel Cruze?

  I'm so smart.

• 17:39Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 17:40Rachel Cruze?

Mm-mm. Get out. It's the devil.

• 17:42George Kamel?

I'll train mine to be meaner to me.

• 17:43Rachel Cruze?

It's the devil. Get out of here.

• 17:44Speaker 01

No, just take the girlfriend voice setting off, because that's what you put in there.

• 17:48George Kamel?

It let me select a voice. I thought she sounds friendly.

• 17:50Rachel Cruze?

Hey, you can do it like an Australian guy.

• 17:51George Kamel?

That's the last thing I need. To be emasculated by some Australian guy with a cool accent?

• 17:56Rachel Cruze?

  Surfer guy.

• 17:57George Kamel?

Any of these ring a bell for you?

• 17:59Rachel Cruze?

  Okay, thank you. Um, nope.

• 18:03George Kamel?

  Okay.

• 18:03Rachel Cruze?

Nope, they were funnier. Yeah, okay, we really tried. Okay, we'll get out of this rabbit hole.

• 18:08George Kamel?

  Good effort. Okay, last item.

• 18:10Rachel Cruze?

  We're gonna move on.

• 18:11George Kamel?

Who bought this? A waterproof blanket.

• 18:14Speaker 01

  Ooh.

• 18:17Speaker 01

You. We've talked about your bedwetting in private. We have. Is this the place to talk about that?

• 18:24George Kamel?

Who did I buy it for?

• 18:27George Kamel?

  The dogs.

• 18:28Rachel Cruze?

  Jeez, not your daughter?

• 18:30George Kamel?

No, she does great with a diaper.

• 18:34Speaker 01

  A waterproof blanket?

• 18:35George Kamel?

I think John only got one right.

• 18:37Rachel Cruze?

Because they sleep with them and sometimes they pee in the bed.

• 18:39George Kamel?

We have one on the couch in case they lick their paws, you know.

• 18:44Rachel Cruze?

It's really, I mean, honestly, George, I hate to say it, it's pretty unbelievable.

• 18:48George Kamel?

Yeah, most of my purchases are for my dogs.

• 18:51Rachel Cruze?

I know. How much do you think they've cost you?

• 18:53George Kamel?

I will say it's more than anyone should spend on an animal, but it's not as much as anyone who owns a horse.

• 19:01George Kamel?

  So I'm doing pretty good.

• 19:03Rachel Cruze?

  That's fair. Oh, Lord.

• 19:04George Kamel?

Alright, thanks for psychoanalyzing slash judging every one of our purchases.

• 19:07Speaker 01

I didn't do that, just yours.

• 19:09George Kamel?

How much did your crossbow cost?

• 19:10Rachel Cruze?

  I hope it's not plastic.

• 19:15Speaker 01

  I'm trying to be delightful.

• 19:16Rachel Cruze?

  It's delightful, John.

• 19:18Speaker 01

Y'all wanna have like a roast section? We can do that.

• 19:20Rachel Cruze?

Oh, that would be funny, actually.

• 19:21George Kamel?

Didn't we just do that? I think that's what that was.

• 19:23Speaker 01

  No.

• 19:24George Kamel?

We gave you that opportunity to.

• 19:25Rachel Cruze?

Okay, so listen, people have submitted their disagreements when it comes to money.

• 19:29George Kamel?

  Petty disagreements, mostly.

• 19:30Rachel Cruze?

And we're gonna figure out, we're gonna give them the right answer. Because we're always so right.

• 19:35George Kamel?

Here we go. Petty disagreements about money and relationships. Number one, Rachel.

• 19:39Rachel Cruze?

Alright, we make $250,000 a year and my husband won't pay off a $6,000 mattress because it is 0% interest. What do we think? $6,000 for a mattress, that's like really expensive.

• 19:50George Kamel?

  It's a nice mattress.

• 19:51Rachel Cruze?

Did you think that's a Tempur-Pedic, the double one?

• 19:53George Kamel?

That might be the one where you can like, boom, motorized.

• 19:57Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, we talked about this on our last Smart Money Happy Hour, a recent one, and I got people DMing me who have them and said, it's worth it.

• 20:01George Kamel?

If all three of us are on The Ramsey Show, what is our take on this guy and this wife who's disagreeing about the 0% interest payoff?

• 20:09Speaker 01

  What do you think, Rachel?

• 20:10Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, I mean, I think that he, number one, is not listening to his wife. And I always feel like there's like always a trump card in a relationship. And it's always like, well... He said this, so it's automatically the default, or vice versa. We'll get guys sometimes, well, my, you know. And I'm like, okay, this like stonewallingness, where there's no give and take at all, I don't like. So that's what that feels like. So to me, I'm like, it's stupid. And probably his ego's involved. I bet he signed up for the loan for the mattress. So he doesn't want to admit he's wrong.

• 20:36George Kamel?

That's a good take. What was he doing with the six grand otherwise? Where he's like, well, it's 0%. So I can use that money to arbitrage. Like, there was probably some scheme he had in his mind.

• 20:44Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, yeah.

• 20:45George Kamel?

And it's probably not the first of his little schemes he's tried.

• 20:48Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, schemes and scams.

• 20:50Speaker 01

This is like, now this turned into like an episode of Scooby Doo. It's so good.

• 20:54George Kamel?

What's behind this, behind this money part? Because we can explain, well, 0% and there's a catch and blah, blah, blah. And they're hoping you don't pay it off. And it's gonna, you know, backdate all the interest. But that's not the issue here. They make great money. He probably has the money sitting there.

• 21:06Speaker 01

When you have a core of a million dollars, it, people are desperate for several things. But one of the core human attributes is control. And if you have, if you make a core million dollars, if you, if you live a reasonable lifestyle, right? Like, that's not a thing you're worried about is bills every day. And so you look for these little pockets of control, and you'll find them in weird places. And you're right, like, it has nothing to do with the mattress and has nothing to do with the interest. You could possibly earn on six grand. It's just not, even if you put that in a whatever, you're not gonna make any money off six grand. So it's about a thing that I have that you, you don't have. And I can say, you're dumb because look at the money. It makes me feel a little bit, little bit smarter than you. Or it can be like, no, this is my money.

• 21:49Speaker 01

Or like, it's just a, it's a, it's a proxy war in a marriage for something else, which is, we haven't completely committed to ours is ours is ours, right? And so this is mine.

• 21:59George Kamel?

And they're misaligned on values. She values not owing people money.

• 22:03Speaker 01

Yeah, but it's so small. I don't even know if it's a value thing. It's just petty. It's just silly, right? It's like somebody cuts you off in traffic and you literally go 95 miles an hour to get back in front of them and slow down. Like, for, for what? Right? It's about control. And it's just silly.

• 22:18Rachel Cruze?

  The $6,000 mattress.

• 22:19George Kamel?

  Let it go.

• 22:20Rachel Cruze?

All right, next. My wife sent her birthday gifts, plural, gifts back because she thought the purchase weren't necessary. The purchases weren't necessary.

• 22:29George Kamel?

Ooh. Were they gifts from husband?

• 22:32Rachel Cruze?

  It sounds like it.

• 22:34Speaker 01

Can I tell you, that would break my heart?

• 22:37George Kamel?

Like, you were thoughtful and got your wife something you think she'd love. And then she goes, this is unnecessary, Joan.

• 22:43Speaker 01

  Yeah, because, I don't know.

• 22:47Speaker 01

For me, if I buy, and again, this is me, but if I buy a gift, like it's, it's usually something I've thought about for a while. And there's something about it doesn't fit, or I don't like this, but the idea that it's unnecessary, that'd break my heart. Yeah, that's a move. Yeah, that would hurt.

• 23:02Rachel Cruze?

The only thing I would think is like, oh, it's another pair of Lululemon leggings.

• 23:08George Kamel?

Something she absolutely did not need.

• 23:09Rachel Cruze?

And I'm like, huh, I don't need the sixth pair.

• 23:13George Kamel?

Yeah, I feel like I would be more, I don't know, I think I might just go like, oh, okay, cool. You wanted a different color size, you had too many of it, whatever.

• 23:20Rachel Cruze?

But if the whole gift was unnecessary, I don't even want this.

• 23:24George Kamel?

It really depends on what the gift was. Was it a, you know?

• 23:27Rachel Cruze?

Right. Was it a piece of jewelry that he thought a lot about, or was it just like a?

• 23:30George Kamel?

Yeah, if she brought them back, it's just like a thing. It's a thing he bought. So it's not like he made a handmade thing and she decided to return it.

• 23:37Speaker 01

What does y'all, which y'all take on taking back gifts?

• 23:40Rachel Cruze?

  In general? Like from anybody?

• 23:43George Kamel?

Well, number one, you have to have, you usually have to have a receipt, in which case that person gave you the receipt, meaning they're totally okay with you returning it. So that gives me the freedom to return it.

• 23:53Speaker 01

But you can take, I learned this from you.

• 23:54George Kamel?

  No receipt return?

• 23:56Rachel Cruze?

I don't get gifts. My in-laws are gift givers. My parents, I don't get gifts from my parents. And then.

• 24:02Speaker 01

I mean, it kinda gave you all this. It's kinda awesome.

• 24:06Rachel Cruze?

I'm not grateful, but literally, I'm trying to think.

• 24:08Speaker 01

  You get a company.

• 24:09Rachel Cruze?

My birthday, I had friends give me some gifts and it was like sweet necklace. I mean, it was great. But like the true, like, oh my gosh, I get a lot of actual physical gifts, literally from my in-laws. And they always get a gift receipt and they always say, take it back if you don't want, I don't know. So I'm just thinking through it. I'm like, do y'all get a lot of gifts as like adults?

• 24:26Speaker 01

We have people who love us, so yeah.

• 24:28Rachel Cruze?

Y'all do? Y'all do get a lot of gifts?

• 24:29George Kamel?

If it's from a friend and it's thoughtful, I don't return it. Cause I know it means more to them than to me.

• 24:34Rachel Cruze?

How often do you get gifts from friends, though?

• 24:36George Kamel?

I mean, birthdays mostly, maybe Christmas. And that's like maybe three guys in my life who do this.

• 24:40Speaker 01

  I do, I can't. I get gifts.

• 24:44Rachel Cruze?

  You do?

• 24:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:45George Kamel?

  I guess.

• 24:45Speaker 01

And I'm not even like a really likable guy.

• 24:47Rachel Cruze?

Where are people giving y'all? No, again, my friends, I got like probably six gifts on my birthday this year, so I can't like, so my friends, not that my friends watch the show, but like, thank you for that. But like, besides that and our parents. My parents, I'm being genuine though. Like, are y'all like, where are you, who's giving you gifts?

• 25:05George Kamel?

Um, my mixologist, Michael Reddish, one of the greatest gift givers.

• 25:09Rachel Cruze?

Now, he is a great gift giver. Okay.

• 25:10Speaker 01

One of the best there is.

• 25:11George Kamel?

Our friend Chris, who runs the Ramsey Network, he loves giving gifts.

• 25:14Rachel Cruze?

Are y'all all good friends with it? Y'all are all, look, so y'all all are your best friends.

• 25:18George Kamel?

You need better friends, is what I'm realizing.

• 25:20Rachel Cruze?

  Went in the same.

• 25:20George Kamel?

  Step it up, Rachel's friends.

• 25:22Speaker 01

No, but like I've got friends from other states who are like, hey, I saw this knife and I thought you would love it. Or, hey, you really did this awesome thing for our kid once a few years ago and I rented this thing or, yeah, that happens all the time.

• 25:32George Kamel?

I get gifts from fans of the show.

• 25:34Speaker 01

  I do, yeah, that also.

• 25:35George Kamel?

Like French bulldog socks or something.

• 25:37Rachel Cruze?

Oh my gosh. I'll get, I mean, sometimes, you know.

• 25:39George Kamel?

Many fans just send money straight to my Venmo.

• 25:41Rachel Cruze?

  I don't know. I just don't.

• 25:44George Kamel?

Can I tell you my secret fantasy is that a fan leaves me in their will.

• 25:48Rachel Cruze?

  Oh my gosh.

• 25:48George Kamel?

And I'm like, wait, what? Someone, like a lawyer calls me and is like, hey, there's a million dollars someone left to you.

• 25:52Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, just to say thank you.

• 25:54George Kamel?

  Yes.

• 25:55Rachel Cruze?

For the fact that they have a million dollars.

• 25:56George Kamel?

  That's my dark, twisted fantasy.

• 25:58Rachel Cruze?

I love it. All right, well.

• 25:59Speaker 01

My fantasies are so different than yours.

• 26:01Rachel Cruze?

  And I don't.

• 26:02George Kamel?

  I understand, I understand.

• 26:03Speaker 01

  So different.

• 26:04George Kamel?

Uh, one gift that no spouse would ever dare sending back, Cozy Earth products.

• 26:09Rachel Cruze?

Hundred percent. Never would I ever.

• 26:10Speaker 01

  God.

• 26:11George Kamel?

  Why would you?

• 26:12Rachel Cruze?

It's the most amazing thing ever.

• 26:14George Kamel?

Even if I had multiples, that's a blessing.

• 26:16Rachel Cruze?

  A hundred percent.

• 26:16George Kamel?

  It can rotate through.

• 26:17Rachel Cruze?

Yes. I literally have four of their pajamas right now. Love them. Obsessed.

• 26:21Speaker 01

Literally, like Sheila will come ask.

• 26:25Rachel Cruze?

  Mm-hmm.

• 26:26Speaker 01

Is it too early to put on?

• 26:28Rachel Cruze?

  Pajamas.

• 26:28Speaker 01

  The Cozy Earth pajamas.

• 26:29Rachel Cruze?

Yes, because it's about five o'clock and I might, and I might.

• 26:32Speaker 01

Or two in the afternoon. Like, always.

• 26:35Rachel Cruze?

  No judgment, zero judgment.

• 26:36Speaker 01

And I've never been as enthralled with a towel in my life. I love it.

• 26:42George Kamel?

It goes around my entire body twice.

• 26:44Speaker 01

  Like four times.

• 26:45George Kamel?

  Yeah. It's like the mummification.

• 26:47Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 26:47George Kamel?

It's amazing. So from towels, athleisure, bedding, you name it.

• 26:52Rachel Cruze?

  Y'all.

• 26:53George Kamel?

  It's cozy.

• 26:54Rachel Cruze?

Can I say, one of our children got sick and threw up right next to our bed. It's one of those like they came down, mom, I don't feel good. And then right there and you're like, you know what I thought about? My Cozy Earth sheets. I was like, get him off real quick, get him off. I was like doing six.

• 27:07George Kamel?

Now you know why I have a waterproof blanket on top of the bed.

• 27:10Rachel Cruze?

  Oh my gosh.

• 27:11George Kamel?

I must protect Cozy Earth sheets at all costs.

• 27:12Rachel Cruze?

I know. I mean genuinely, it was, it was a concern of mine. But it is all fine. Everything came out.

• 27:19George Kamel?

Hey, check it out. They got 40% off when you use the promo code SMARTMONEY at checkout or go to cozylearth.com/smartmoney. Hard to beat. We'll drop a link in the description as well.

• 27:28Rachel Cruze?

Amazing. All right, next up. Husband and I had an argument about the $300 crossbow that he purchased so he could get into hunting.

• 27:39George Kamel?

  Did Sheila submit this?

• 27:41Speaker 01

No, because I would have bought like a $1,500 one.

• 27:43Rachel Cruze?

  I was gonna say, what's a $300 crossbow?

• 27:45Speaker 01

  Not a very nice one.

• 27:46George Kamel?

Is it like a Toys R Us version?

• 27:47Rachel Cruze?

So we're okay with that. That's an easy like entry level. You're trying to hobble.

• 27:51George Kamel?

What's the thing you make fun of? Or is that a crossbow versus like a bow and arrow?

• 27:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:56George Kamel?

Because crossbows are like an automatic situation. Like I could do a crossbow.

• 27:59Speaker 01

  Absolutely not.

• 28:00George Kamel?

  Okay.

• 28:00Speaker 01

  No, no, no.

• 28:02George Kamel?

I tried to pull on one in Mississippi. I couldn't do it. It takes like 60 pounds of force.

• 28:07Speaker 01

Well, you had those, you had those black rubber gloves on.

• 28:09George Kamel?

I shouldn't have had my gloves on.

• 28:10Rachel Cruze?

  I had gloves on.

• 28:11Speaker 01

And you had all that Moroccan oil in your hair. It was just everything was slippery.

• 28:15George Kamel?

Well, I had just moisturized it. It was real slick. I couldn't get the grip on it.

• 28:18Speaker 01

  It just got, yeah, yeah.

• 28:20Rachel Cruze?

But you're a lady saying, great job. You're doing great.

• 28:23George Kamel?

  Thank you.

• 28:23Speaker 01

That's right. No, I mean like in the, in like the bow hunters, yes. There's like a, like a special like, oh, that's cute. Like when you have the crossbow.

• 28:31Rachel Cruze?

  So he's cute.

• 28:32Speaker 01

But no, no, but it's still great. If you're outside in the woods and you're trying to

• 28:35Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 28:35Speaker 01

provide for your family or clean up.

• 28:37Rachel Cruze?

No, he should have asked her, talked about it.

• 28:39Speaker 01

  Correct, correct.

• 28:40Rachel Cruze?

  And been like, hey.

• 28:41George Kamel?

Yeah, well, the question, we don't know the context. Did he ask her?

• 28:43Rachel Cruze?

  I don't know.

• 28:43George Kamel?

Did she just not like it? Did she know that this was another one of his like hobbies that he would give up within a day?

• 28:48Rachel Cruze?

No, he's one of those, if that's him, where these guys that get into all these different hobbies and you're like, pick one.

• 28:52George Kamel?

You know what I would say? Hey, if you don't, if you don't actually kill something within 30 days, you're taking it back.

• 28:56Speaker 01

Well, that's ridiculous. You're not supposed to hunt within 30 days. You gotta practice.

• 28:59Rachel Cruze?

  And there's hunting seasons.

• 29:01George Kamel?

Yeah. Okay. And by, but can we flip this around?

• 29:04Speaker 01

If you have a husband who sits around and plays video games all day, or just gets home and spends all their time on the phone and just scrolling or whatever, and finally is like, "I'm gonna get outside and start trying something." And the first thing they do is they're like, "Hey, I'm gonna go get a crossbow," which by the way is the safest entry into that kind of hunting.

• 29:25George Kamel?

  Versus like a gun?

• 29:26Speaker 01

Versus like a bow and arrow or a rifle, whatever. And it's only gonna be 300 bucks. That is, that's, it's, it's literally nothing to walk into that game. That's a very low entry point.

• 29:36Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 29:36Speaker 01

If her first thought is, "Oh my God," that squashes a guy's spirit. So if, and all this is context, if you have a husband that doesn't do a lot and is like, "I'm gonna head outside, I'm finally going outside," cheer him on, man. Figure that, figure that 300 bucks out because that could be something that lights his soul on fire and gets him outside and moving and doing all kinds of stuff, which could be awesome. It's good.

• 29:58George Kamel?

  Okay.

• 29:58Rachel Cruze?

  Okay, I'll take it.

• 29:59George Kamel?

Of course, John would advocate for the crossbow guy.

• 30:02Rachel Cruze?

  100%.

• 30:02Speaker 01

Or, or here's another, here's another thing. He could be ordering rubber gloves off of Amazon to pick up dog poo poo and wipe the dogs.

• 30:09George Kamel?

My version, I just bought a complete skateboard for the first time in my adult life.

• 30:14Speaker 01

  Can I? Shut up, dude.

• 30:15George Kamel?

And it was, it was over $200 and I thought-

• 30:18Rachel Cruze?

What does a complete skateboard mean? What, did you get half skateboards?

• 30:20Speaker 01

Yeah, he got the skateboard and the wheels.

• 30:21George Kamel?

Well, versus like just the deck or the wheels. Like, I ordered it online and it comes complete.

• 30:25Rachel Cruze?

Isn't that usually how it comes, or no?

• 30:26George Kamel?

Well, you can, you can piecemeal it.

• 30:28Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, okay.

• 30:30George Kamel?

But anyways, my wife was like, "Are you sure you're gonna use that?" I was like, "Oh, I already, by the way, I already have like two other skateboards, but I wanted a new one, because mine was, you know, 15 years old."

• 30:39Rachel Cruze?

  So cool.

• 30:40Speaker 01

Sounds like a new father running away from responsibilities.

• 30:42George Kamel?

Asked me how many times I've used it.

• 30:43Speaker 01

  Zero times.

• 30:44George Kamel?

It's hot out, it's Tennessee summer. What was I thinking?

• 30:47Speaker 01

  It's hot out!

• 30:48George Kamel?

  You can't skate 95 degrees?

• 30:50Rachel Cruze?

Just, would you skate up and down your street?

• 30:52George Kamel?

That's what I did, and I was winded, I was winded within two minutes.

• 30:56Rachel Cruze?

  And do people like wave?

• 30:57Speaker 01

You asked, so like, "Are you gonna skate on your street?"

• 30:59Rachel Cruze?

You're gonna like, I see George like pedaling and then like-

• 31:03George Kamel?

It's not called pedal, there's no pedals. You push.

• 31:07Rachel Cruze?

  I'm sorry.

• 31:07George Kamel?

  Your foot.

• 31:08Rachel Cruze?

You're pushing, and then you get up. Do you do this with your arms?

• 31:11George Kamel?

I'll have, you know, I could've gone pro if I wanted to.

• 31:15Rachel Cruze?

You got YouTube videos to prove it.

• 31:16George Kamel?

There was interest from the company. All right, next up, we recently argued about my wife's family using our Amazon account to buy stuff and her brother doesn't pay us back. Yes.

• 31:26Rachel Cruze?

Ooh, I'd be mad about that, too.

• 31:28George Kamel?

Why are you allowing this behavior? Why doesn't he have his own, like, payment info?

• 31:32Rachel Cruze?

That is, that's pretty terrible. You know what? I give a little slack, little slack, because I do this on your account, George.

• 31:38George Kamel?

  Not on my Amazon account.

• 31:39Rachel Cruze?

No, no, what I was gonna say, though, is the, is the subscription sharing that you can, you know, streaming Max or something.

• 31:47Speaker 01

Some people call that stealing, but whatever.

• 31:49Rachel Cruze?

No, because his, his account, he can have up to like six profiles or something.

• 31:53George Kamel?

Yeah, and I call it outrageous generosity.

• 31:55Rachel Cruze?

So we, we took one of the profiles, the cruise is dead.

• 31:59George Kamel?

  It's still there.

• 31:59Rachel Cruze?

I know, thank you. But, but I'm saying subscriptions of watching something versus purchasing constantly feels different, that feels different.

• 32:06George Kamel?

If you can store payment info, do not have a shared account there. And he can create his own account, like, we have a family account for Amazon, and so you can have different accounts.

• 32:14Rachel Cruze?

I don't want to see what people are buying either.

• 32:16George Kamel?

  No.

• 32:16Speaker 01

I don't want people to see what I buy.

• 32:17George Kamel?

You don't need to see my exam gloves in there. You don't need to know what those are for.

• 32:21Speaker 01

And what about, what about people who get married and they're still on their parents' cellphone plan?

• 32:25George Kamel?

  Oh, yeah.

• 32:27Speaker 01

I'm a no-go on that one, too. Like, when you get married, you gotta get your own cellphone plan. Are you still on Dave's plan? Please say yes.

• 32:32Rachel Cruze?

No, I have a work phone.

• 32:34George Kamel?

Okay. No, but I do, I do feel like, now, unless you're, I don't know, there's situations where, hey, it's cheaper, they're on the senior plan, they can add me for 20 bucks.

• 32:43Rachel Cruze?

I give people four years. That's a little bit one that I'm like, I can't.

• 32:46George Kamel?

  Four years?

• 32:46Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, on a cellphone plan.

• 32:48George Kamel?

The question is, are you paying for it? Even if it's on your parents' plan, are you paying for it? Are you actually sending them the money?

• 32:52Rachel Cruze?

  I think I would.

• 32:53George Kamel?

  Monthly or yearly?

• 32:55Rachel Cruze?

I hear what you're saying, and normally I'd be on your team. But that one, for some reason, it kind of feels like insurance, too, when you're under, what, 25, you can still be on your parent, like, I don't know, like, just stay out, like, you're fine. It's not hurting, it's not hurting anyone. I don't know.

• 33:09Speaker 01

  I'm out on that.

• 33:10George Kamel?

Eventually, we all have to become a man and get our own cellphone plan. But hey, that's just one man's take.

• 33:14Rachel Cruze?

I think it would probably bother, very stereotypically, bother the dude more than the girl. Like, I think if, if he was on her family's cellphone plan, I think he would feel, yeah, I think he would feel weirder about it, but for some reason.

• 33:25Speaker 01

But I'd also feel weird to be like, oh, hey, honey, we have Venmo my dad $48 for our cellphone, but that would just feel weird to me.

• 33:31George Kamel?

  Yeah.

• 33:32Rachel Cruze?

No, I wouldn't say pay it. That's what I'm saying.

• 33:34George Kamel?

I'm trying to think of a little girl.

• 33:35Speaker 01

Oh, just let them keep paying our bills for us?

• 33:37Rachel Cruze?

Just the cellphone is what I'm saying, not anything else.

• 33:39Speaker 01

I'm gonna have a job forever.

• 33:40Rachel Cruze?

But there's something about having cellphones that, I don't know, on the family's plan.

• 33:43George Kamel?

If my little girl asks, and she's 27, I'm like, I got you, babe.

• 33:47Rachel Cruze?

  I know. It's just, it's not that big of a deal. Like, I don't know. I don't know why.

• 33:51George Kamel?

Set it down, John. There's worse problems in America.

• 33:52Rachel Cruze?

I feel more passionate about that, and I feel more annoyed with Netflix or something. I don't know why. I'm very, it's not congruent. It's just my feelings.

• 33:59Speaker 01

  All right.

• 34:00George Kamel?

  That explains Rachel.

• 34:01Rachel Cruze?

I'm so sorry. I'm just being honest.

• 34:03George Kamel?

All right, last one for the petty arguments. Our Husky's budget line item is bigger than our groceries. At least he's comfy.

• 34:09Rachel Cruze?

All right, tell us about that, George.

• 34:10Speaker 01

  Yeah, George.

• 34:11Rachel Cruze?

How do you feel about that?

• 34:12George Kamel?

No, no, no, tell us, John.

• 34:13Speaker 01

No, it's clinically insane, and it's what's wrong with America.

• 34:16George Kamel?

That's a real dog. That dog needs more protein than I do.

• 34:20Speaker 01

Not than the real humans that live in that house.

• 34:22George Kamel?

Have you seen what Huskies do in the wild?

• 34:24Speaker 01

  Have you?

• 34:27Rachel Cruze?

They do capture people from avalanches.

• 34:28George Kamel?

  See?

• 34:30Rachel Cruze?

I saw it on the screen.

• 34:33Speaker 01

  Huskies?

• 34:34Rachel Cruze?

Yes, and German Shepherds. They're pretty amazing.

• 34:39George Kamel?

I personally have no issue with this because it's budgeted, and I assume they're paying cash, and it's not derailing other financial goals. So if they're paying, let's say, $600 a month for this Husky's needs versus $500 for groceries, it's their American right. Why do you have anything against America, John?

• 34:54Speaker 01

  I just...

• 34:58George Kamel?

I feel like a Husky is the most American dog you can get.

• 35:01Rachel Cruze?

  No, I can't.

• 35:01Speaker 01

Did you know that we could, with the money we spend on pet products?

• 35:08Speaker 01

We could solve homelessness in the United States. That's like a dollar for dollar.

• 35:12George Kamel?

  Have you researched this?

• 35:13Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 35:14George Kamel?

This feels like an anti-dog agenda.

• 35:16Speaker 01

I have three dogs and I love them. You know what they eat? Dog food.

• 35:20George Kamel?

I literally didn't know you had any dogs.

• 35:22Speaker 01

I have three dogs. I love dogs.

• 35:24George Kamel?

How little you care about your dogs?

• 35:25Rachel Cruze?

And not even one, not two, but three.

• 35:26Speaker 01

I love my dogs, but you know what?

• 35:28Rachel Cruze?

Don't you have a little guy? A little one?

• 35:29Speaker 01

  I have a little, uh...

• 35:32Rachel Cruze?

  Like a Shih Tzu?

• 35:33Speaker 01

Breshan Shih Tzu thing. I don't know, it's a dog. God did not intend, but it's cool. And I have another dog that we got off Craigslist. That was not a wise purchase.

• 35:44Rachel Cruze?

How big, how big is he?

• 35:45George Kamel?

People are still going to Craigslist to find dogs?

• 35:47Rachel Cruze?

I think that's illegal now. I think they took it off.

• 35:49Speaker 01

No, it's called rehoming. I rehomed it.

• 35:51George Kamel?

  Oh, that's right.

• 35:52Speaker 01

And then, um, I've got Stella, which has been my ride... She's been my ride or die, um, for like 10 or 11 years now.

• 35:58George Kamel?

How have I never met your dogs? You never introduced me.

• 36:00Speaker 01

Because they're dogs. They're not people. You know what they can do all by themselves? Poop.

• 36:05George Kamel?

I've been in your home. I've never seen a dog.

• 36:07Speaker 01

I know, because they don't run my house. I don't have special blankets on my bed that I share with my wife.

• 36:16George Kamel?

Velvet couch, John, you gotta be careful.

• 36:18Speaker 01

  I don't have a velvet couch either.

• 36:20George Kamel?

  Exactly.

• 36:21Speaker 01

You have lava lamps too? What are you doing in your house?

• 36:23George Kamel?

Looking into it, they're coming back. You should have a lava lamp.

• 36:27Rachel Cruze?

Yes, but my girls have lava lamps. They love it.

• 36:30George Kamel?

Well, what happened to delightful John?

• 36:32Speaker 01

Well, like, it's hard... No, your dog food budget should not be more than the human food budget.

• 36:38George Kamel?

They never said food. It could be hair care.

• 36:42Speaker 01

  Okay, read the question again.

• 36:43George Kamel?

Our Husky's budget line item is bigger than our groceries. At least he's comfy.

• 36:49Rachel Cruze?

  Groceries is a lot.

• 36:49George Kamel?

We don't know what comfort, what their needs are. What if they make a billion dollars and they want to have a nice life?

• 36:54Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, but if you're spending $800 plus on your dog a month, that's a lot.

• 37:01George Kamel?

  I'll see myself out.

• 37:03Rachel Cruze?

  George.

• 37:03George Kamel?

I'm in the wrong room, guys. Read the room.

• 37:06Speaker 01

Here's what I know's gonna happen. One day, your daughter is gonna be the executor of your will. And she's gonna quickly have, she's gonna have inherited, um, your math abilities.

• 37:19George Kamel?

  A billion dollars?

• 37:20Speaker 01

And she's gonna think, wow, $800 per month, per this many years, in an index fund at 10...

• 37:27Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, shoot, George.

• 37:28George Kamel?

  Yep.

• 37:29Rachel Cruze?

  What that could have been.

• 37:31George Kamel?

  I don't think she'll worry about it.

• 37:32Rachel Cruze?

No, because you know what? She's not all about money.

• 37:34George Kamel?

Yeah. She's gonna think, wow, I'm gonna donate all this money I inherited to the animal shelter. So that someone else can have the privilege of owning this dog and taking care of it like my parents did.

• 37:45Rachel Cruze?

  We are so over time.

• 37:47Speaker 01

I'm gonna have a job forever.

• 37:49George Kamel?

Not when the dog haters come after you. You'll get canceled by dog people.

• 37:52Speaker 01

Whatever. He sold a horse, that's all I'm saying.

• 37:54Rachel Cruze?

You know what I said? You know what I said? And he was totally offended, and more people are sending me videos of this. Dogs in wheelchairs. If your dog has to go in a wheelchair, in my opinion, it needs to be put down.

• 38:04George Kamel?

She thinks she should put it down.

• 38:05Rachel Cruze?

  Okay, yeah, like it's...

• 38:06Speaker 01

  100%.

• 38:07Rachel Cruze?

You can't do that. It's cruel, yes.

• 38:08Speaker 01

  It's cruel.

• 38:08George Kamel?

And yet, we don't do that with people.

• 38:10Rachel Cruze?

And George was flabbergasted that I had that thought.

• 38:13George Kamel?

Yeah, because if you translate that into human speak...

• 38:15Rachel Cruze?

  But they're not humans.

• 38:16Speaker 01

  They're not humans, they're dogs!

• 38:19George Kamel?

  I'm just saying.

• 38:20Speaker 01

  They're dogs!

• 38:21George Kamel?

They have a right to live a full life.

• 38:23Speaker 01

They've lived it, when half of them doesn't work anymore. That's, by definition, that's a half a life left.

• 38:30George Kamel?

If all you needed was two wheels to live a full life, you would take it.

• 38:33Speaker 01

  But I'm a human!

• 38:36Rachel Cruze?

I know, it is sad. That dog wants to run.

• 38:38George Kamel?

We should just put all dogs down, because apparently they're not humans, so what's the point of living? No, that's just Rachel's take, not mine. Don't clip that out.

• 38:44Speaker 01

  This is how...

• 38:47George Kamel?

I think we should move on to the next segment. Our final segment.

• 38:50Speaker 01

I think we should discuss our best friendship in this.

• 38:54George Kamel?

Let me remind you, John started this off saying, "He's delightful, John." He's so nice on air.

• 39:00Rachel Cruze?

All right, next up, we're gonna do a rapid-fire headline react. Are you ready?

• 39:04Speaker 01

  Let's do this, I can't wait.

• 39:05Rachel Cruze?

All right, just our top thoughts. Sports betting, on average, household spend $1,100 on sports betting while cutting back on investments. And also, states have now that have legalized sports betting, saw a 28% increase in bankruptcy files within four years. Some studies show that the divorce rate is about 10% higher for those who gamble regularly versus the general public.

• 39:28Speaker 01

  Sports betting is a cancer.

• 39:29Rachel Cruze?

  What do we think?

• 39:30Speaker 01

Yeah, I think it's an absolute cancer.

• 39:32George Kamel?

We agree on something. We should have covered this first, before the dog stuff.

• 39:35Rachel Cruze?

  That's right.

• 39:35Speaker 01

It's evil, what we've put into, yeah, it's awful.

• 39:39Rachel Cruze?

And it starts so young, with boys too, I feel like, especially.

• 39:43George Kamel?

Well, I mean, you're really going after like the 18 to 25-year-olds, largely men. And now with the apps and all of the, you know, regulations that have loosened, like states are taking it on because they're making tons of money from it. And so, it's just making it socialized gambling, so you think, "I don't have a problem, everyone does it."

• 40:00Rachel Cruze?

  Yep.

• 40:00George Kamel?

It's like having a drink once in a while.

• 40:02Rachel Cruze?

And there's no emotion to it. It's like, oh, here, it looks a slot machine, you have to like physically do something, it's crazy. But no, but I'm saying like, there's not, you can go so fast. Where like, if you're betting in Vegas or doing something, you have to like, wait for the car, like, there's like, do you know what I'm saying?

• 40:16George Kamel?

You don't until you get in touch with a book.

• 40:18Rachel Cruze?

Yes, where this is like, literally, I'm just punching my phone, I'm like, go.

• 40:21George Kamel?

And you like brag about it to your buddies, like, "Bro, I just parlayed." Like, you just kind of, there's a, there's a social element to it that is extra dangerous.

• 40:28Rachel Cruze?

  Mm-hmm.

• 40:29George Kamel?

And it takes a huge bankroll to even see any money, and most people are gonna lose.

• 40:34Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 40:34George Kamel?

And the sports betting companies know that, and they're preying on it with billions of advertising.

• 40:38Speaker 01

Well, if you saw the link behind closed doors, Michael Easter's done a lot of like, research on this, like... The app developers and the neuroscientists and the psychologists, here's the deal, they're just better than us. They have created digital cocaine and they're just better than us at it and you can't win in the long, in the long run and it's a cancer that we allow that.

• 41:00Rachel Cruze?

Why is sports betting so much on the rise versus like regular gambling? Does that make sense?

• 41:05Speaker 01

  Because it's, it's the allure that I'm a part of a thing.

• 41:08George Kamel?

And the entertainment factor, because you're already going to watch the game.

• 41:11Rachel Cruze?

Okay, so might as well put some money towards it.

• 41:13Speaker 01

Yeah, but it's deeper than that. There's a, there's a, um, there's a tribal connection. We don't play sports anymore. We now hire other people to play the sport for us and we watch it.

• 41:21Rachel Cruze?

  Okay.

• 41:21Speaker 01

And we put our, like you see grown men walking around at college sports with teenagers' names on their back. That's insane. That's wild.

• 41:28Rachel Cruze?

  Right, right.

• 41:29Speaker 01

But now we're able to participate in that game from our couch with this phone. We have literal skin in the game, except it, they're better than us at taking our money. So it's just catastrophic.

• 41:42George Kamel?

  And it's 24/7.

• 41:43Speaker 01

It's prey on a very primal.

• 41:44George Kamel?

Because you can bet on like ping pong in Singapore at 3 a.m. and that becomes kind of like the, you know?

• 41:49Rachel Cruze?

I don't get that. If I'm gonna be gambling, I want to be part of it. I want to be playing the game.

• 41:53George Kamel?

  That's the spirit.

• 41:54Speaker 01

You want to talk about that that one time?

• 41:57Rachel Cruze?

Give me a craps table. I know, John, I'm so sorry.

• 41:59George Kamel?

John was there. It was sad.

• 42:00Rachel Cruze?

So sorry. Listen, I had one great craps run in my life and it was the most, one of my highlights of my life.

• 42:06Speaker 01

And I followed Rachel, her very next craps run.

• 42:09Rachel Cruze?

And then we all had an event in Vegas and I had a couple people and I was like, y'all, let's go to the craps table.

• 42:14Speaker 01

  I have this figured out.

• 42:15Rachel Cruze?

Trust me, just, just on, yeah, six and the eight, just put it on, on, and it was like, roll.

• 42:19Speaker 01

  And it's gone.

• 42:21Rachel Cruze?

  It was bad.

• 42:22George Kamel?

I remember donating $5 because she looked like a sad puppy who stopped wagging its tail. And I was like, do you want, you want to go play at the nickel slot?

• 42:30Rachel Cruze?

You want to go up there? I don't know. Like to me, I'm like, let me like be part of it if I'm going to be gambling. I don't like trusting all. Dustin on the Wisconsin team.

• 42:42George Kamel?

  Dustin from Wisconsin.

• 42:44Rachel Cruze?

  Felt right.

• 42:44George Kamel?

That's a good one. Let's talk about singleness, John.

• 42:46Speaker 01

  What?

• 42:47George Kamel?

Only 34% of single women say they're actively seeking romance, while 54% of men report that they're trying to find a partner. Economists and sociologists have identified a growing discrepancy between men and women's social lives and education. Women tend to have a wider social circle, more degrees on average, making it more difficult for people to find a match. And I've been seeing this. I just saw another one. I was saying like, women are going to be single longer into their 40s because just harder with careers and education and the dating apps and men aren't getting any better. And so what do you think about all that?

• 43:21Speaker 01

I think for the first time in human history, women have the opportunity to opt out of an oppressive system or some guy just says, you, like, think about this. My mom was not allowed to get a checking account without my dad's signature. That's my mom. That was not long ago, right? And so for all of human history, up until just right now, women had to do their life through the path of some man somewhere like carved for them. And they don't have to do that anymore. And they're opting out. And the dating apps, there's a lot of talk and research on this, but the dating apps essentially filter by height. They filter by income. They like continue.

• 44:05Rachel Cruze?

What does that mean? What do you mean?

• 44:06George Kamel?

You can filter like, only guys over six feet tall, please.

• 44:09Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, like in your preferences?

• 44:10Speaker 01

  Right.

• 44:11Rachel Cruze?

  Okay.

• 44:11Speaker 01

And so you can just go through and you're, you're just slicing off.

• 44:16Rachel Cruze?

  What you're wanting.

• 44:16Speaker 01

Yeah, and here's the, the controversial part of it all is women, more women go to college now. Women are starting to earn significant amounts of money, especially early. And guys aren't keeping up, but the average woman still wants a guy that earns as much or more. And so that number is just doing this and they're not catching up. And then you can take that app and you can just filter, filter, filter, filter. And so a smaller number of men are having way more dating opportunities with a larger pool. It's a, it's a, it's a mess.

• 44:46Rachel Cruze?

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 44:47Speaker 01

Right? And so if you can just filter, filter, filter, instead of. Meeting that person at work and they're kind of annoying, but they're kind of funny. And you're always in that meeting. You're like, that was a kind of a good point. And they don't look like that person, or they don't sound like that person that you would have ever imagined yourself with. And yet, a year later, you're like, hey, you wanna go grab lunch? And now, like, all that's gone now.

• 45:08Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, it removes all of that.

• 45:10Speaker 01

But I think it's coming back to, for the first time in human history, women don't have to, so they're not. And it's not, that doesn't mean it's a good thing. I think there's a lot of negative consequences to that. But they don't have to, so I'm just not gonna play that game. I'm opting out of that game.

• 45:25Rachel Cruze?

Man. Would you go on a dating app if something happened to Whitney?

• 45:28George Kamel?

  Oh, gosh.

• 45:29Speaker 01

  No, no, no.

• 45:30George Kamel?

Cause here's the thing, I am the worst, like, target demographic for a dating app. You know what I mean? Like, I don't have a credit score, I'm five foot six, like, nobody's like, oh, yeah.

• 45:39Speaker 01

Our pets' heads are falling off.

• 45:40George Kamel?

Yeah. Me and my French Bulldogs. Nobody's...

• 45:45Speaker 01

Yeah, it'd be George, the two French Bulldogs, a box of rubber gloves.

• 45:48Rachel Cruze?

He's got rubber gloves, like, don't worry about these.

• 45:50George Kamel?

  Wanna wipe some butts?

• 45:52Rachel Cruze?

  Everything's fun.

• 45:53George Kamel?

I would find an old Baptist church and say, hey, she's a nice gal. You know, like, that's the, just go old school.

• 45:58Rachel Cruze?

  Alright.

• 45:58George Kamel?

You know? But no, I don't think I could ever find love again, after Whitney.

• 46:02Speaker 01

Would you, you think dating it?

• 46:03George Kamel?

  A solitude life.

• 46:04Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, I mean, maybe not, like, I think they're kind of fun. Never done it, obviously.

• 46:09George Kamel?

But you think you could do better than Winston?

• 46:10Rachel Cruze?

The girls that, the girls that work, that talk about it, I'm like, ooh, that sounds so fun. Like, I don't know.

• 46:15George Kamel?

And then you see their swipes and you're like, oh, oh, gosh, another fish? How many fish?

• 46:21Rachel Cruze?

  Fish?

• 46:22Speaker 01

No, but hold on, earlier, somebody...

• 46:24Rachel Cruze?

Oh, they're all holding a fish.

• 46:25Speaker 01

Somebody in this studio had a guy, and the first thing Rachel looked at him, she goes, oh, he's hot.

• 46:30Rachel Cruze?

I thought he was good looking.

• 46:31Speaker 01

He is, I thought he was so good looking, too.

• 46:33Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 46:33Speaker 01

But, yeah, he's, but I could see you totally getting into it.

• 46:36George Kamel?

He was in, he was in New York Five. LA Three. Let's not get crazy.

• 46:41Rachel Cruze?

  What's in LA Three?

• 46:43Speaker 01

He was a Texas Ten. He was, he's good.

• 46:45George Kamel?

  That's saying something.

• 46:46Rachel Cruze?

What's that rating? No, but I don't think I could do better than Winston.

• 46:49George Kamel?

It's harder to do better in LA.

• 46:50Rachel Cruze?

Winston genuinely is everything I'd ever want. It'd be very hard.

• 46:53George Kamel?

LA, top tier, New York, mid-tier, Texas, low bar.

• 46:57Rachel Cruze?

  Texas isn't good?

• 46:58George Kamel?

Well, low bar. If you're a 10 out of 10 in Texas, as a guy, you know?

• 47:01Rachel Cruze?

Oh, see, I think that's, I think that's better than an LA?

• 47:04George Kamel?

It's just, I didn't make up the rating system, guys.

• 47:08Speaker 01

What are you on the Boston scale?

• 47:09Rachel Cruze?

I don't want an LA guy.

• 47:10George Kamel?

Oh, I'm a Boston, actually, probably a Boston, maybe a four.

• 47:13Rachel Cruze?

You know what? A Boston guy...

• 47:15George Kamel?

  Like a Ben Affleck?

• 47:17Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, I could, I could give you my stereotypes of cities. I'd be like, yes, or uh-uh.

• 47:22George Kamel?

  Matt Damon?

• 47:23Rachel Cruze?

Sorry. LA, no. Uh, Silicon Valley.

• 47:27Speaker 01

Oh, let's do this. This is gonna be great. And this is the last episode. Continue.

• 47:33Rachel Cruze?

  I don't know, I don't know. Yeah, I could, y'all could do that probably with, I don't know.

• 47:35George Kamel?

We're not allowed to do that.

• 47:36Rachel Cruze?

Yeah, you can't do that with women.

• 47:37George Kamel?

  No, we're not.

• 47:37Rachel Cruze?

No, we can't, yeah, you can't do that.

• 47:38Speaker 01

All women are great and wonderful, no matter where they're from.

• 47:40George Kamel?

Every city in America, there are beautiful women.

• 47:42Speaker 01

  Every city.

• 47:43George Kamel?

  Who deserve to be loved.

• 47:44Rachel Cruze?

We met a family from Long Island this week, y'all, at the hotel we were staying at, talking to him. He was a, he was a, um, a New York City police detective for like 32 years. And they were the most amazing fam- I mean, they were so fun with their two daughters and their husband. And they're just like Italian New Yorkers and they're just talking.

• 48:02George Kamel?

  Just loud and fun.

• 48:03Rachel Cruze?

Oh, and just, I mean, every, all the stuff. It was so funny. And I was like, I could do, I could be in, I could be in an Italian family. I liked them.

• 48:10George Kamel?

  I could see that.

• 48:11Rachel Cruze?

  Like, I liked them.

• 48:12Speaker 01

I mean, you kinda can't, cause you're not.

• 48:13Rachel Cruze?

  No, I can't. I thought like-

• 48:15George Kamel?

  You like loud drama.

• 48:16Rachel Cruze?

That would be a fun family to marry, too.

• 48:18George Kamel?

You like good food and loud drama.

• 48:20Rachel Cruze?

  Yes.

• 48:21George Kamel?

  That's all she needs, guys.

• 48:22Rachel Cruze?

  So fun. I don't know.

• 48:23George Kamel?

All right. Last one, John. You ready for this? AI toys. Mattel, makers of Barbie and Hot Wheels, says it's partnering with OpenAI, maker of ChatGPT, to bring, quote, "the magic of AI to age-appropriate play experiences."

• 48:39George Kamel?

What are your thoughts about AI entering the toy world? Like, there's toys now you can interact with.

• 48:44Rachel Cruze?

  They become, they be, oh.

• 48:44George Kamel?

Imagine my phone that I just interacted with, you know, like-

• 48:47Rachel Cruze?

  It's like a Barbie?

• 48:48George Kamel?

  As in a toy.

• 48:49Speaker 01

Yes. That's, hey, that already exists. Or it's in a stuffed animal. And the little kid can ask it anything. It will tell the kid, the kid's wonderful. And by the way, it's smarter than all humans that that kid knows combined. So it actually has the right answers. But a little bit. Maybe. But like, it's got everything and it's always delightful. It's always on. So at 2:30 in the morning when the kid wakes up, he'll be like, hey, I can't sleep. And it's like, well, I'll sing to you.

• 49:14Rachel Cruze?

Where the mom's like, get back to bed.

• 49:16Speaker 01

That's right, that's right. Yeah. Or when they're 14 and boyfriend breaks up and it's like, "Oh hey, I think you're beautiful," in that voice, like in the boyfriend voice, it would be the opposite.

• 49:25Rachel Cruze?

  Stop it, y'all.

• 49:26Speaker 01

I'm serious, that already exists. Yeah, it's gonna be a nightmare. Yeah, it's a mess.

• 49:30Rachel Cruze?

So the AI stuff, that freaks me out because the fact that technology can know so much about you, not good. And that happens all the time. That's why I love Delete Me.

• 49:39George Kamel?

  Yes.

• 49:39Rachel Cruze?

Because it will go in and remove your information from data broker websites. Because our names are out there, our addresses, our email addresses, so much of our information's out on the internet. And Delete Me goes in and removes it all. We are thankful for that technology.

• 49:51George Kamel?

I love it. And my favorite part, they send you a report showing you what they removed, how much time they've saved you. And so far, I'm off 240 of these data broker sites. They've saved me 94 hours of time.

• 50:01Rachel Cruze?

  Nice.

• 50:02George Kamel?

I just sleep better at night knowing, oh, good. I'm less at risk than someone else who's just floating out there with their family's info. So it's an easy way to stay protected.

• 50:11Speaker 01

  I love them.

• 50:13George Kamel?

  No notes from John.

• 50:14Speaker 01

No, literally, no, they pulled me off of hundreds of websites, way more than, how many, 94?

• 50:18George Kamel?

  I was on 240.

• 50:19Speaker 01

  240, dude.

• 50:20George Kamel?

I don't know why we're like, right, like, how did you get pulled off?

• 50:23Speaker 01

I think I'm like, super like, off the grid. Dude, when they started sending me all the reports, I was

• 50:28Rachel Cruze?

  It's crazy.

• 50:29Speaker 01

astounded at how much of my stuff's out there.

• 50:30Rachel Cruze?

Well, and what makes me mad is these data brokers sell our data to make money. And then it all just goes every, all these other places. I'm like, don't make money off me. Stop that. Stop.

• 50:40George Kamel?

And they're giving our listeners and viewers a sweet discount, 20% off their annual plans. When you go to joindelete.me/smartmoney. We'll also drop a link in the description below. But all three of us use it and love it. That's all you need to know.

• 50:53Rachel Cruze?

  So great.

• 50:53George Kamel?

  What more do you need?

• 50:54Rachel Cruze?

So great. Well, y'all, this was good.

• 50:57George Kamel?

  I had a time.

• 50:59Rachel Cruze?

  It was a good time.

• 50:59George Kamel?

There was good times, there was bad times.

• 51:02Speaker 01

  He tried so hard.

• 51:03Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, he did great.

• 51:04George Kamel?

You did try. I didn't help because I kept pushing on the dog button, which is your least favorite button.

• 51:10Speaker 01

  But I love dogs.

• 51:11Rachel Cruze?

  That's a friendship, though. Look at y'all.

• 51:13Speaker 01

  I love them.

• 51:14George Kamel?

He loves dogs that are cheap.

• 51:17Speaker 01

I just love dogs in the rightful place.

• 51:19Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah.

• 51:20George Kamel?

  Fair enough.

• 51:21Rachel Cruze?

  Yep.

• 51:21Speaker 01

Do you consider yourself, now that you're a human parent, do you still consider yourself a dog parent?

• 51:26George Kamel?

  Um, I am still

• 51:27Speaker 01

  Are you a pet owner?

• 51:28George Kamel?

Yeah, my pets are still my responsibility. I would never say dog dad. I think that is, you're trying to instigate a fight. But I would say they're under my tutelage and care.

• 51:43Speaker 01

So here on Smart Money, I'm officially suspending our best friendship for a period of 30 days as a penalty.

• 51:50George Kamel?

You know what? I knew tutelage would get him.

• 51:52Rachel Cruze?

  That's so good.

• 51:53George Kamel?

That would bother him as a real academic with his two PhDs. Tutelage only be used in a classroom.

• 51:58Speaker 01

  T-O-T-O-L-E.

• 52:01George Kamel?

I'm not gonna do it, cuz I know it, and I don't wanna impress you.

• 52:04Rachel Cruze?

Well, the last time we were all together at a live event was Money and Marriage.

• 52:07George Kamel?

  That's right.

• 52:08Rachel Cruze?

And we have another one coming up in February, you guys. So Valentine's weekend, John and I are hosting Money and Marriage, and it's a great time. It's a lot of this.

• 52:17Speaker 01

  It's my favorite.

• 52:18Rachel Cruze?

You know what I mean? Yeah, it really is. It's a really fun weekend. We get multiple days together, hanging out, talking about some great stuff. So it's awesome. So if you guys wanna check that out, we'll put a link down below. Come visit us in Nashville, spend the weekends.

• 52:30George Kamel?

I hope to be there. I wanna just attend one year. Like, just bring Whitney, and we just attend, cuz it's that good.

• 52:36Rachel Cruze?

It really is. The content and everything we spend.

• 52:38Speaker 01

And you have two kids now, like, your marriage is different.

• 52:39George Kamel?

Yeah, that's true. Oh, don't remind me, John.

• 52:43Rachel Cruze?

  It's so much.

• 52:44George Kamel?

  Plus two dogs.

• 52:45Rachel Cruze?

So much. All right, before we spill the tea on our Guilty as Charged segment, let's share the details of the drink. I apparently loved it the most.

• 52:53George Kamel?

This was the Alice in Dallas. I'm gonna give this a, I think, a 10 out of 10.

• 52:57Rachel Cruze?

  Me too, George.

• 52:59George Kamel?

I was a little bit concerned at first, looking at the ingredients, like, this is gonna be a trash drink. It's delightful. Almost as delightful as John.

• 53:07Speaker 01

And I don't drink hardly ever, and this is fantastic.

• 53:10Rachel Cruze?

  It's really good.

• 53:11Speaker 01

  It's good.

• 53:12Rachel Cruze?

  It's really good.

• 53:13Speaker 01

  I like it.

• 53:14Rachel Cruze?

It almost could replace an espresso martini.

• 53:15George Kamel?

Yes. And you don't wanna know wine, right?

• 53:17Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, give me the ingredients.

• 53:18George Kamel?

Here's what's in it. Coffee liqueur, that gives you your coffee flavor, but it's not a very heavy coffee, I wouldn't say it's a coffee drink. Didn't taste like that. It's got coffee liqueur, Grand Marnier, which is a cognac-orange liqueur, and Reposado Tequila, which is an aged tequila, has a little bit of smokiness in there, but what a delightful drink. The Alice in Dallas, $3.12.

• 53:39Rachel Cruze?

What was your rating out of 10?

• 53:41Speaker 01

  Yeah, I don't drink very much. I was a 10 out of 10.

• 53:44Rachel Cruze?

  Wow, three 10s.

• 53:45Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's good.

• 53:46Rachel Cruze?

  That doesn't always happen.

• 53:46George Kamel?

If you can impress John, sky's the limit.

• 53:49Rachel Cruze?

  That's all we need.

• 53:49George Kamel?

Get the recipe in the show notes. Give it a try this weekend. If you're of age, drink responsibly.

• 53:54Rachel Cruze?

All right, now it's time for

• 53:56George Kamel?

  Guilty as charged.

• 53:58Rachel Cruze?

And this is where we ask each other a guilty charge question every week, and if we're guilty, we take a sip.

• 54:02George Kamel?

And I thought it would be fun

• 54:04Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah?

• 54:05George Kamel?

  to pull out.

• 54:06Rachel Cruze?

  Oh.

• 54:07George Kamel?

Not a business card from the IRS. How, what, who is this person?

• 54:13George Kamel?

What kind of magic trick is this? Okay, didn't know I had that. I have a questions for humans card.

• 54:19Rachel Cruze?

  Do you owe taxes?

• 54:20George Kamel?

No, I think I maybe just met a person who works for the IRS, and I thought, good person to know.

• 54:24Speaker 01

  I think he, he's on a Facebook group called shareyourbomberjacket.org, and that's somebody else's.

• 54:32Speaker 01

Does anyone have a child's bomber jacket up here?

• 54:34George Kamel?

I have here a questions for humans card from Dr. John Aloney. This is the Friends second edition.

• 54:40Rachel Cruze?

  So fun.

• 54:41George Kamel?

And we are friends, so here it is. What's something you thought was stupid until you actually tried it? John, go first.

• 54:48Rachel Cruze?

  Oh.

• 54:49Speaker 01

Okay, I gotta set it up, though. Is that cool?

• 54:51George Kamel?

  Yeah.

• 54:52Speaker 01

So, I can't stand that they are shoving protein stuff into everything. Protein is the new low-fat, right? When I was like, it used to be everything was low-fat.

• 55:04Rachel Cruze?

  Yes, yes.

• 55:04Speaker 01

Like Twizzlers, it says like, low-fat.

• 55:06Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 55:07Speaker 01

Now there's like protein everything. Can I show you all?

• 55:10George Kamel?

Yeah. You brought some for the class?

• 55:11Rachel Cruze?

  Oh my gosh.

• 55:12Speaker 01

  I have my trusty backpack.

• 55:14Rachel Cruze?

We don't have props very often.

• 55:14George Kamel?

  Whoa.

• 55:16Speaker 01

  It's cool, guys.

• 55:18Speaker 01

Dude. I'm not even kidding. This is, uh...

• 55:22George Kamel?

  I've seen influencers peddle this.

• 55:24Speaker 01

  No, dude, it's Khloe Kardashians.

• 55:26George Kamel?

Are we about to try it?

Because popcorn, listen, popcorn is so good for, um, like, it's got good fiber in it. I'm eating this.

• 55:31George Kamel?

How loud is that on the mic?

• 55:33Speaker 01

Is it so loud? For A, is it AMSR, ASMR, whatever it is?

• 55:40Speaker 01

  Do this in slow-mo.

• 55:40Rachel Cruze?

  Do it.

• 55:47Speaker 01

Yo, I love this stuff. And plus, I can get ripped while I eat it.

• 55:53Rachel Cruze?

  Let me have some.

• 55:54Speaker 01

  It's so good.

• 55:58George Kamel?

  Oh, that's actually good.

• 56:00Speaker 01

  I know.

• 56:01Rachel Cruze?

How is there protein in it?

• 56:03George Kamel?

How is it so crunchy for being in a bag?

• 56:07Rachel Cruze?

Actually, it's delicious. Is it expensive?

• 56:09George Kamel?

It looks like it's $28 for that bag.

• 56:11Speaker 01

It's just a little bit less expensive than Georgia's rubber gloves for dog poo.

• 56:16George Kamel?

  Those are off-brand.

• 56:17Rachel Cruze?

Wow, seven grams of protein per serving.

• 56:19Speaker 01

And it's got lots of fiber in it. It's so good.

• 56:21George Kamel?

  All right.

• 56:22Rachel Cruze?

  Amen, Halloween.

• 56:22George Kamel?

Hashtag not sponsored, but great popcorn. All right, that's a good one.

• 56:26Speaker 01

  Huge.

• 56:27George Kamel?

Rachel, what's something you thought was stupid until you actually tried it?

• 56:30Rachel Cruze?

  Mmm.

• 56:33Rachel Cruze?

  A wireless phone charger.

• 56:35George Kamel?

Oh, like where you just plop it on there?

• 56:36Rachel Cruze?

Winston bought like four of them. I was like, oh my god. Just reach out and plug in your phone.

• 56:42George Kamel?

You're like, it's not that hard, Winston. Just plug it in.

• 56:44Rachel Cruze?

I know. And then he plugged one into my nightstand and it's like, doop. And it just charges. I'm not leaning off the bed trying to get a cord.

• 56:52George Kamel?

I'm gonna go with pedicures for me.

• 56:56George Kamel?

It feels appropriate based on our conversation today. I'm not gonna say crossbows. I thought it was so dumb, but then I got out there and I shot the crossbow. And I hit an innocent animal that couldn't even protect or defend itself. And I was like, yeah, bro. Anyways.

• 57:12Speaker 01

Did you wear socks while you were doing that?

• 57:14George Kamel?

No shows, baby. Actually, Cozy Earth, represent. Uh, no, pedicures. Here's why, with pedicures. I always thought like you have to get your like toes painted. None of that.

• 57:23Rachel Cruze?

  No.

• 57:24George Kamel?

Imagine you leave and you like are walking on a cloud because they gave you like a leg massage.

• 57:29Rachel Cruze?

  Yep.

• 57:30George Kamel?

That's really what it's all about.

• 57:31Rachel Cruze?

  It's amazing.

• 57:32George Kamel?

And the scraping on the bottom?

• 57:33Rachel Cruze?

  Yeah, they clean you up.

• 57:35George Kamel?

  I'm a new man.

• 57:35Rachel Cruze?

I know. I get it. I get it.

• 57:37George Kamel?

We've had a lot of guests on this show, Sharon Ramsey, Dave Ramsey, your children. And John is now added to that list for better and for worse. So thank you, John.
