Owning a car or home comes with responsibilities. Sure, it's fun, but sometimes it makes you wonder why you ever longed for adulthood in the first place. I do that all the time. I'm like, "Oh, these bills, these bills. What am I gonna do?"

• 0:14Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 0:15Conan O'Brien?

You know, when you own a house, you gotta fix it yourself. Sona, you see this to be true, right?

• 0:19Speaker 01

Yeah, your garage door breaks, and you're like, "Well, I have to fix it."

• 0:22Conan O'Brien?

Probably at first you said, "Hey, I'll get the super to fix it. It's your house, dude."

• 0:25Speaker 01

  It's mine, dude!

• 0:27Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. Liberty Mutual customizes your car and home insurance to save you money. In fact, they work overtime to tailor your insurance policy around what you actually need. The only thing they can't do is get that "Liberty, Liberty, Liberty, Liberty" jingle out of your head.

• 0:39Speaker 01

  Liberty, Liberty, Liberty.

• 0:41Conan O'Brien?

Liberty, Liberty. It's in my head all the time.

• 0:42Speaker 01

  Yeah, me too.

• 0:43Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. Start your quote at LibertyMutual.com.

• 1:20Conan O'Brien?

Hey there, welcome to Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend.

• 1:27Conan O'Brien?

I'm joined, as always, by Sona Mobssacian.

• 1:29Speaker 01

  Hello.

• 1:29Conan O'Brien?

This is kind of a special moment in our podcast because we, at the moment, are in a car in Morocco. Sona and I are in the backseat of the car.

• 1:41Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 1:42Conan O'Brien?

Blay is in the front seat, shooting us, I think, for video capture. And Rashid is our driver. Hello, Rashid. Hello. Rashid is helping us out. He's driving, and I may occasionally ask Rashid for any kind of help we might need, like content or humor.

• 2:01Speaker 01

  That's good.

• 2:02Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. So here's the story. Shooting an episode, along with Sona, of Conan O'Brien Must Go, I visited a fan who lives in Casablanca.

• 2:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:13Conan O'Brien?

So we flew into Casablanca, right? And we shot there for, what, two days?

• 2:19Speaker 01

Yeah, we were there for two nights.

• 2:20Conan O'Brien?

Mm-hmm. And we hung out with our fan, who was very cool, and we had a good time with him.

• 2:26Speaker 01

  Yeah, sir.

• 2:27Conan O'Brien?

  Then...

• 2:27Speaker 01

Can you say his name? Are we allowed to?

• 2:31Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah, go ahead.

• 2:32Speaker 01

  Yeah, sir.

• 2:33Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 2:33Speaker 01

  Yeah, he's a cool guy.

• 2:34Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, well, what'd you say? Can we say his name?

• 2:36Speaker 01

I don't know. Is this, we can talk openly and say all the things?

• 2:41Conan O'Brien?

Well, yeah, we're safe. We're far from America, in the backseat of a car, driving through the desert. So you can say whatever you want.

• 2:48Speaker 01

Okay, I didn't know how much of the episode you wanted to discuss, because I wish, I should have asked questions before we recorded.

• 2:57Conan O'Brien?

  This is okay.

• 2:58Speaker 01

I was talking about Howie Do It, and I just started.

• 3:01Conan O'Brien?

You started making yourself laugh really hard. I was going to launch into, you know, why we're here, where in the country we are, some of the customs and traditions, but you, seconds before we started recording, started laughing really hard, and I asked you why, and you said, because there was that famous song, right? This is how we do it.

• 3:19Speaker 01

This is how we do it.

• 3:20Conan O'Brien?

And then you said online, there was a guy whose name is Howie Do It, right? And why don't you tell us, when you control it, when you get yourself under control?

• 3:28Speaker 01

There's a picture of this guy. He's just a guy, and his name is Howie. His first name is Howie, and his last name is Do It.

• 3:35Conan O'Brien?

  Yep.

• 3:35Speaker 01

And then it just has the song looping that's just saying, this is how we do it.

• 3:41Conan O'Brien?

Right. And how long were you, how long were you watching that for?

• 3:48Speaker 01

It's not how long I watched it one time, it's how many times do I watch it in like a week?

• 3:54Conan O'Brien?

And what made you start laughing about this now, in, in, deep in Morocco, near the Algerian border?

• 4:02Speaker 01

  I don't know.

• 4:03Conan O'Brien?

  Okay.

• 4:03Speaker 01

I have no idea, but it was also, um, somebody sang the song, and it makes me instantly think of that. I'm sorry, you know what? Ooh.

• 4:12Conan O'Brien?

Oh wow, that was cool. We were almost, almost hit the car ahead of us.

• 4:15Speaker 01

  Anyway, I'm sorry.

• 4:16Conan O'Brien?

That was not Rashid's fault, because the car ahead of us hit the brakes.

• 4:19Speaker 01

  No.

• 4:20Conan O'Brien?

And, um, it was a mom walking her child across the street.

• 4:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:23Conan O'Brien?

Which is illegal. She shouldn't have to do that.

• 4:26Speaker 01

  I think it's normal.

• 4:27Conan O'Brien?

So let me give everyone, now that we got, this is how we do it, have your, uh, have your system. Flew into Casablanca, right? Then, we, we finish up with the fan, and it's time to go to the desert, okay? Here's, I thought was a funny part of the whole situation. We're at the airport in Casablanca.

• 4:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:47Conan O'Brien?

And, we can't leave, because somehow our papers weren't in order.

• 4:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:52Conan O'Brien?

And, we couldn't get on our plane. So, we were stuck in Casablanca, because we didn't have our papers, Rick. Of course, a nod to the famous film, Casablanca. And, um, and then what's the whole plot of Casablanca? No one can leave, because they don't have their exit visas, they're trapped. And, so, I kept going up to the officials, and saying, "You've gotta help me, Rick, you've gotta help me, Rick," like Peter Laurie. And, they didn't know what I was talking about.

• 5:19Speaker 01

  Oh, they didn't know?

• 5:20Conan O'Brien?

No, no, they didn't know, and, um, I was jailed for a while.

• 5:23Speaker 01

Oh, maybe if you went as Ilsa, they would've been like...

• 5:25Conan O'Brien?

You know what? That was my mistake, I should've dressed up as Ilsa.

• 5:28Speaker 01

  Yeah, that would've been nice.

• 5:29Conan O'Brien?

Um, or else Humphrey Bogart. "Yeah, she, yeah, she," you know, just said, "Yeah, she."

• 5:34Speaker 01

Yeah, no, you should've done that. Well, we were there for, what, four hours?

• 5:38Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, but we were only supposed to be there 20 minutes. And, anyone who knows me knows, I can do Peter Laurie going, "I need my papers, Rick, I need my papers," I can do that. For four hours, easily. I could've been there for three days.

• 5:52Speaker 01

  You could.

• 5:53Conan O'Brien?

And you know what? When people don't get something I'm doing, I love it, and I do it, I go twice as hard.

• 5:58Speaker 01

I know, I know. Do you ever get tired of your own bits?

• 6:02Conan O'Brien?

  Oh, god, no.

• 6:02Speaker 01

Is there ever a time when you're like, "Oh, this, I've been doing this for a long time."

• 6:06Conan O'Brien?

Nope, no, no. I'm always just so happy to be trapped inside this guy. Okay, what a weird way to put it. Finally, we get out of Casablanca. Right?

• 6:20Conan O'Brien?

We get out of Casablanca, and we fly, we take a plane and we fly for, I don't know, 45 minutes, an hour.

• 6:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:27Conan O'Brien?

Way to the east, right to the, near the border, because we wanna have, uh, some, that sweet Sahara sand look, you know, the classic look of camels and dunes. What was the name of the place we stayed, Blay?

• 6:40Speaker 03

Uh, it was in, it was, it was in, for, uh... This is Merzogah.

• 6:46Conan O'Brien?

  Merzogah.

• 6:47Speaker 01

  Merzogah.

• 6:48Speaker 03

  Merzogah.

• 6:49Conan O'Brien?

Merzogah. Uh, we stayed in Merzogah and um, we hung out there and it was incredibly hot. So hot that our uh, camera equipment could fry.

• 7:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:02Conan O'Brien?

Melt down if we didn't uh, keep it cool enough. And boy, did we found a place I'm never supposed to hang out, didn't we?

• 7:09Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 7:11Conan O'Brien?

I mean, it was a hundred and five in the shade.

• 7:13Speaker 01

  You.

• 7:14Conan O'Brien?

  It was incredible.

• 7:14Speaker 01

Just the, just the elements are working against your biology.

• 7:18Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 7:18Speaker 01

And I saw it in real time.

• 7:19Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, but it was fine and it's beautiful.

• 7:22Speaker 01

  Yeah, it is.

• 7:23Conan O'Brien?

And you and I had some adventures there.

• 7:26Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 7:26Conan O'Brien?

Uh, we had a very special treatment that'll be featured in the show. Where we get buried in sand, you and I.

• 7:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:33Conan O'Brien?

Which is incredibly hot when they first do it and you think you're gonna die.

• 7:35Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 7:36Conan O'Brien?

And then your body shuts down, you don't feel it anymore. So that was fun.

• 7:40Speaker 01

  It shut down?

• 7:41Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah, I, I died for a while.

• 7:43Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 7:43Conan O'Brien?

  They had to resuscitate me.

• 7:44Speaker 01

That did not happen to me.

• 7:45Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. I was medevac to a hospital in Aspen, Colorado and then flown back to the shoot. So that's why this remote is taking us over nine years to shoot. Um, then, today was the day where we need to drive, cause we're ma- now making our way to Marrakesh.

• 8:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 8:04Conan O'Brien?

So to get to Marrakesh is a very long drive. We are on our way to Quarsazate. Quarsazate.

• 8:15Speaker 01

  Is that right, Rashid?

• 8:16Speaker 03

  Quarsazate, yes.

• 8:17Speaker 01

  Quarsazate.

• 8:18Conan O'Brien?

I think the way I said it was more accurate, Rashid.

• 8:21Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 8:22Speaker 03

  Quarsazate.

• 8:22Conan O'Brien?

It's so rude of you to correct me. Um, do I correct you when you say Newton North or Brookline High?

• 8:31Speaker 01

Two things he's never said in his life.

• 8:35Speaker 01

  And will never say.

• 8:38Conan O'Brien?

You know, when he says, "Hey, let's go over to Roxbury." And, um, "Let's get a roast beef sandwich at Buzz's Roast Beef." I don't start parsing his pronunciations. Anyway, um, we are gonna fly from Corazate to, uh, Marrakech. Then we'll be in Marrakech and we'll shoot there.

• 8:57Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 8:57Conan O'Brien?

Um, and Marrakech is gonna have, that's gonna be a little more luxe, I think. It's gonna be a lot of shops and bazaars and stores.

• 9:06Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 9:06Conan O'Brien?

  Maybe I'll buy you something.

• 9:08Speaker 01

A lot, you'll buy, you can buy me a lot of stuff.

• 9:11Conan O'Brien?

  No, I can't. I don't have a lot of money.

• 9:12Speaker 01

  Oh, okay.

• 9:13Conan O'Brien?

Very famously, I've not done well.

• 9:15Speaker 01

I'll just charge it to the show.

• 9:17Conan O'Brien?

  You can't.

• 9:18Speaker 01

Okay. I just want a lot of stuff. I want a bag. I want stuff for the boys. I want something for Tac. I want stuff for my house.

• 9:24Conan O'Brien?

Okay. Um, I'm just gonna end that now. Yeah, I'm just gonna end that now. Uh, so, we are on our way to Marrakech, and that got me thinking. It'd be great if we could sing a song in the car about going to Marrakech. And then, of course, there's that Crosby, Stills, Nash song.

• 9:42Speaker 01

Oh, I thought you were gonna say, "This is how we do it."

• 9:45Conan O'Brien?

No, no. That was my second thought, but not my first thought. You know, um, Blay, you know this song. "All aboard that train to meet you in Marrakech, all aboard." Well, listen, I bring it up for a reason. I've never liked that song.

• 10:00Speaker 01

  Oh, no!

• 10:00Conan O'Brien?

I don't love that song, and it's the only song I know that's about Marrakech. And so I thought we should come up with our own song about Marrakech.

• 10:08Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 10:09Conan O'Brien?

And then maybe we can use it on this travel show.

• 10:12Speaker 01

  Oh, that sounds fun.

• 10:13Conan O'Brien?

And if it catches on, we own the rights.

• 10:16Speaker 01

Yeah, if it catches on. Uh, you know, I'm tone deaf, but it's okay. I'll do my best.

• 10:21Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, so what are you thinking? Have you got any ideas for a song on our way to Marrakech?

• 10:25Speaker 01

Marrakech, oh Marrakech. It's a land of things to buy, and it's-

• 10:37Conan O'Brien?

You weren't, you weren't kidding when you said tone deaf. I forgot.

• 10:39Speaker 01

  Really bad.

• 10:40Conan O'Brien?

  You can't, um-

• 10:43Speaker 01

  Oh, Marrakech.

• 10:46Conan O'Brien?

  What?

• 10:48Speaker 01

What are you doing? What are you contributing to this?

• 10:51Conan O'Brien?

You sound like you're not even that interested in Marrakesh. You like Marrakesh passed you. It's nearby, it's kind of across the street. You don't really want to say hi to Marrakesh. So you went, "Oh Marrakesh." Do you know what I mean? You don't want to stop and chat with Marrakesh.

• 11:05Speaker 01

  It's supposed to be revelatory.

• 11:07Conan O'Brien?

Marrakesh like dissed you at a party. You got some beef with Marrakesh. But you still kind of like Marrakesh, but you're not ready to talk yet. That's the way you just greeted Marrakesh.

• 11:17Speaker 01

Maybe it's a diss track to Marrakesh. Yo, this is Marrakesh. Marrakesh can suck it.

• 11:25Conan O'Brien?

Okay, you don't want to do that.

• 11:26Speaker 01

No, no, no, I don't want to go that. Yeah.

• 11:28Conan O'Brien?

  Not while we're in country.

• 11:29Speaker 01

And I don't mean it, because I'm actually really excited.

• 11:31Conan O'Brien?

No one, you know the great thing about you, Sona? No one listens to anything you're really saying.

• 11:35Speaker 01

  That's so true.

• 11:35Conan O'Brien?

They sort of, they get the gist, but no one's, no one would be offended, even in, living in Marrakesh.

• 11:41Speaker 01

When I first started singing the "Oh Marrakesh" one, that was me kind of trying to do "Oh Canada," but with "Oh Marrakesh." And it didn't work. But what's yours?

• 11:50Conan O'Brien?

Moving along, along to Marrakesh. Moving along, along to Marrakesh. I could put my troubles on the back of a camel. Moving along, I gotta go to Marrakesh. Break down.

• 12:04Speaker 01

No, when you beatbox, you kill it. No, no, no, no, no. When you, when you, also, what genre was that?

• 12:10Conan O'Brien?

  I don't know.

• 12:11Speaker 01

It started folky, and then you started doing a beatbox? And that doesn't make sense.

• 12:15Conan O'Brien?

Okay, hold on. Well, sometimes you're supposed to mix genres, and that creates a whole new genre, and then you're remembered forever.

• 12:21Speaker 01

  Oh, you're being an innovator.

• 12:23Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. Uh, well, anyway, we'll think about that. I don't know, I don't know that between us, we're gonna come up with a song. For Marrakesh.

• 12:31Speaker 01

  Marrakesh.

• 12:32Conan O'Brien?

I don't know if we're gonna come up with it, Marrakeh.

• 12:34Speaker 01

  Marrakesh.

• 12:35Conan O'Brien?

Um, hey, I wanna have a sesh in Marrakesh.

• 12:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:39Conan O'Brien?

Isn't that sesh, short for session, sesh?

• 12:41Speaker 01

  Sesh, yeah.

• 12:42Conan O'Brien?

  I wanna have a-

• 12:43Speaker 01

  But what kind of sesh?

• 12:44Conan O'Brien?

Sex sesh. I wanna have a sex sesh in Marrakesh. I wanna ha- hey, Rashid is laughing. Rashid, do you like this? I want, what's that, you like it? I'm gonna have a sex sesh in Marrakesh.

• 12:59Conan O'Brien?

  He like, he loves it.

• 13:00Speaker 01

I don't think anyone's ever called it a sesh before.

• 13:03Conan O'Brien?

Well, you know what I like?

• 13:04Speaker 01

  A sex sesh.

• 13:05Conan O'Brien?

A sex sesh is you're having, you're hooking up, you're knocking boots, but you're also keeping records for, uh, your tax attorney.

• 13:15Conan O'Brien?

You're monitoring the time? You're making sure that... Any suggestions made during sex are kept and sent to an inter-office memo. "I'm gonna have a sex sesh in Marrakech."

• 13:29Speaker 01

It's the least sexiest song I think I've ever heard.

• 13:32Conan O'Brien?

Well, but one of the least sexiest, not the least sexiest, that means it's kinda sexy.

• 13:37Speaker 01

What? Oh, I guess, yeah, no, it's just not, it's just a bad song.

• 13:47Conan O'Brien?

You know, winning an award, that's a big achievement, right?

• 13:50Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 13:50Conan O'Brien?

Every now and then in life, maybe something nice like that comes your way. Winning them consistently is almost impossible. It just doesn't happen, you know? Well, guess what? Winning five times in six years? You know what that sounds like to me? Sustained excellence.

• 14:05Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 14:05Conan O'Brien?

• 15:13Conan O'Brien?

This fall, I want to try something different.

• 15:15Speaker 01

  What?

• 15:15Conan O'Brien?

I like to change it up. I like to learn things. So I'm going to try and make apple cider.

• 15:19Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 15:19Conan O'Brien?

  Every morning.

• 15:20Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 15:20Conan O'Brien?

This fall, just to see if I can do it.

• 15:22Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:23Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, fall's the perfect season to try something new, like joining T-Mobile.

• 15:27Speaker 01

  Oh, that's good.

• 15:28Conan O'Brien?

  See what I did?

• 15:28Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:29Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, there are 250 reasons to join T-Mobile right now. You want to hear what they are?

• 15:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:33Conan O'Brien?

  They're America's best network.

• 15:34Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 15:35Conan O'Brien?

True story. Plus, T-Mobile has got off-grid satellite coverage. That comes in really handy. I like to just wander in the woods sometimes.

• 15:42Speaker 01

  Oh, that's weird.

• 15:42Conan O'Brien?

When I'm thinking about, like, making apple cider.

• 15:44Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 15:44Conan O'Brien?

And that's when it comes in handy. Here's another reason. High-speed data in over 215 countries and destinations. I travel a lot for the

• 15:51Speaker 01

  You travel a lot.

• 15:52Conan O'Brien?

  travel show that I do.

• 15:53Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:54Conan O'Brien?

Stream this podcast while ignoring local landmarks. That's always fun to do. Like, oh, look, there's the Mona Lisa. Yeah, check it out. I'm in the Louvre. I should, but I'm listening to Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend.

• 16:04Speaker 01

That doesn't seem like a good idea.

• 16:05Conan O'Brien?

  It's a great idea.

• 16:06Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 16:07Conan O'Brien?

You know, you can see art anytime. But how often can you listen to this podcast?

• 16:12Speaker 01

  Oh, my god.

• 16:13Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 16:13Speaker 01

  What?

• 16:14Conan O'Brien?

Now, all these reasons make T-Mobile a great choice.

• 16:16Speaker 01

  I agree.

• 16:17Conan O'Brien?

  Oh.

• 16:45Conan O'Brien?

Ever invest in something that seemed incredible at first, but didn't live up to the hype?

• 16:49Speaker 01

  Yeah, like, all the time.

• 16:50Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, I did that with an all-potato restaurant.

• 16:53Speaker 01

  Oh, no.

• 16:56Conan O'Brien?

Marketers know that feeling. They optimize for the numbers that look great, like impressions, but then they don't see revenue. You know what I'm talking about, Tony?

• 17:05Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, all the time.

• 17:06Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, LinkedIn has a word for that: bullspend.

• 17:09Speaker 01

  Bullspend.

• 17:10Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, instead, you can get the highest ROAS of major ad networks with LinkedIn ads.

• 17:14Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 17:15Conan O'Brien?

Cut the bullspend. Advertise on LinkedIn. Spend $250 and get a $250 credit. Go to linkedin.com/conan. Terms apply.

• 17:29Conan O'Brien?

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar is so good. It's almost impossible not to finish it before the meal arrives. It's just too good to wait. That happens to me sometimes.

• 17:38Speaker 01

  Me too.

• 17:38Conan O'Brien?

You can try rules like no sipping until the appetizer arrives, or you tell your friend, "Don't let me touch my glass." But every time you're staring at an empty glass. So if you've ever finished your Coke Zero before the first fry hits the table, you're among friends. It happens. Occupational hazard with Coke Zero.

• 17:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 17:56Conan O'Brien?

Real Coca-Cola taste, zero sugar, too good to wait. Enjoy an ice cold Coca-Cola Zero Sugar today.

• 18:09Conan O'Brien?

What do you think so far? What are your observations about Morocco?

• 18:13Speaker 01

First of all, I love how they drive. I think Americans are a little uptight. But these guys, you know, if someone's in front of them and they're driving slow, they just pass them.

• 18:23Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, even if cars are coming in the other direction.

• 18:25Speaker 01

  Even if carpet, everyone's chill.

• 18:27Conan O'Brien?

And even if everyone's killed, they still don't mind.

• 18:28Speaker 01

  Yeah, oh, oh, God.

• 18:30Conan O'Brien?

Another thing that I have noticed, the food is great. I mean, Moroccan food always great.

• 18:35Speaker 01

  Every meal has been.

• 18:36Conan O'Brien?

Every meal we have is fantastic.

• 18:38Speaker 01

Toot! And then I realized on this trip, I love camels. And then.

• 18:43Conan O'Brien?

  Camels are cool.

• 18:44Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 18:45Conan O'Brien?

They're very smart. They seem like they have, they're very soulful.

• 18:48Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 18:49Conan O'Brien?

And, uh, and man, you're up so high when you're on a camel. It's fantastic.

• 18:53Speaker 01

I almost fell off getting on and off.

• 18:55Conan O'Brien?

That would have been good. I mean, it's, it's, no, it would have been good footage if you were falling off. Cause we could play it, you falling and then bloop, backwards and then falling off again and backwards and put sound effects on it.

• 19:06Speaker 01

I don't know why that's what you think of. You should have, how about like, oh, I'm so glad you didn't, Sona. It's nice that you didn't fall off the giant camel.

• 19:15Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, it's really funny to put a sound effect to someone not falling off a camel. That's hilarious. "How you doing up there? Well, I'm perfectly comfortable and I'm setting very steady on this camel." That's not funny.

• 19:26Speaker 01

  Come on!

• 19:27Conan O'Brien?

You can't do that yo-yo sound.

• 19:31Speaker 01

I didn't think I would enjoy the desert as much as I did.

• 19:34Conan O'Brien?

You're, if you had done America's Funniest Home Videos, but all the videos were a kid. Kid walking very carefully around a pool and not falling. Um, someone walking in with a tray of meatballs and none of them fall off.

• 19:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:46Conan O'Brien?

But you put funny sound effects to it.

• 19:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:48Conan O'Brien?

Here's some meatballs and they look just fine.

• 19:53Conan O'Brien?

As they set them down on the table and nothing bad happens. Wouldn't that be a great America's Funniest Home Videos?

• 19:59Speaker 01

You just make normal mundane videos.

• 20:01Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. Uh oh, there's, there's grandpa, there's grandpa on the, uh, there's grandpa on the diving board. And oh, that was a nice, simple dive and he seems fine.

• 20:13Conan O'Brien?

I'm gonna have a sex sesh in Maris. Wait, gonna have a sex sesh in Ma- in, in Marrakech.

• 20:19Speaker 01

I don't like how you're doubling down on this, this song, the sex sesh in Marrakech. It doesn't even roll off the tongue. Can you say it three times fast?

• 20:28Conan O'Brien?

Gonna have a success in Marrakech, gonna have a success in Marrakech, gonna have a success.

• 20:31Speaker 01

You said sesh sesh, that's not.

• 20:33Conan O'Brien?

Gonna have a sex sesh in Marrakech, gonna have a sex sesh in Marrakech, gonna have a sex sesh in Marrakech.

• 20:37Speaker 01

  Okay, that was good.

• 20:38Conan O'Brien?

  Not bad.

• 20:38Speaker 01

  Yeah, not bad.

• 20:39Conan O'Brien?

This will catch on, it will be huge.

• 20:41Speaker 01

  No, it won't.

• 20:42Conan O'Brien?

Hey, do your Trump where you go, it's gonna be huge.

• 20:45Speaker 01

It's gonna, my, my Trump, my Trump is, it's gonna be huge.

• 20:48Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 20:49Speaker 01

  It's gonna be huge.

• 20:51Conan O'Brien?

  What?

• 20:51Speaker 01

  It's gonna be huge.

• 20:52Conan O'Brien?

  You are the worst impressionist.

• 20:54Speaker 01

  I really am bad.

• 20:55Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 20:56Speaker 01

But I, you know what? I commit, I try. Do you do it?

• 20:59Conan O'Brien?

No, I can't do it. He's, he's not a big enough figure. And he's not, I don't think enough people sort of know how he talks or find him ridiculous. So how can you, how can you do an impression of someone like that?

• 21:11Speaker 01

Oh, I just did. But okay, you can't do it, that's fine.

• 21:14Conan O'Brien?

We're rolling along, we're rolling along, we're on our way to the next flight. This has been a lot of travel, but you know what? I've noticed when we sit down and have the food.

• 21:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 21:23Conan O'Brien?

I keep thinking the same thing and I'm, I keep saying, Sona, is this what it's like in your family? Because it's lots of plates that are filled with various dips and breads. And everyone reaches in and gloop, gloop, gloop. And I thought, this must be very much your home. And everyone's sort of shouting and having fun. I mean, our crew.

• 21:39Speaker 01

You were asking this question, I couldn't tell if you were like making fun of me.

• 21:43Conan O'Brien?

  No, no, no, no.

• 21:44Speaker 01

Or if you were actually saying it.

• 21:45Conan O'Brien?

You are Armenian, you are not Moroccan.

• 21:47Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 21:47Conan O'Brien?

But I've. Notice that there are certain similarities. There's Baba Ganoush.

• 21:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 21:51Conan O'Brien?

Which you love. There's various, uh, flatbreads. There's a lot of, um, you know, fresh wholesome vegetables.

• 21:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 21:59Conan O'Brien?

Um, and of course, the chickens are amazing.

• 22:01Speaker 01

  Yeah, they're so good.

• 22:02Conan O'Brien?

But it just made me think of your family.

• 22:04Speaker 01

It, it's a, it's like a collection of little plates and dips and bread, and then the main dishes. Yes. In that way, yes. And we're, are we loud? Yeah.

• 22:14Conan O'Brien?

  You guys are very loud.

• 22:15Speaker 01

Okay, well, you, like, you guys weren't loud. Six kids.

• 22:18Conan O'Brien?

Nothing like you. You're the loudest person. You're the la- loudest mammal I've encountered.

• 22:26Conan O'Brien?

I'm including other, you know, I mean, just, it's incredible.

• 22:30Speaker 01

  I, no.

• 22:32Conan O'Brien?

  I once tried.

• 22:32Speaker 01

  Am I?

• 22:33Conan O'Brien?

  I once tried to help.

• 22:34Speaker 01

  Pretty loud.

• 22:35Conan O'Brien?

I once tried to help a bear that was screaming for its life out of a bear trap. And you were twice as loud as that bear. And, and when I let the bear out of the trap, it attacked me. Cause it was my trap.

• 22:47Speaker 01

  I have a hard time.

• 22:48Conan O'Brien?

  I set the trap.

• 22:48Speaker 01

I'm moving on. I had a hard time believing you and your

• 22:53Conan O'Brien?

  We were loud.

• 22:53Speaker 01

  Five siblings.

• 22:54Conan O'Brien?

  We were loud.

• 22:54Speaker 01

Were like precious sitting, eating your ham and your potatoes and your boiled food.

• 23:00Conan O'Brien?

Each one of us had our own ham and it hung on a rope above where we sat at the table. So there were six kids, my mom and my dad and my grandmother. So that's nine hams hanging from nine ropes around a circular table in the kitchen on Canard Road in Brookline. And, um.

• 23:17Speaker 01

Like oxygen, oxygen masks falling from an airplane.

• 23:21Conan O'Brien?

In an emergency, a ham would drop down. And we'd all bat at it and

• 23:28Conan O'Brien?

And then, you know, it was like that scene in, uh, the first, um, Jurassic Park where when it's over, the person on the roof would raise the hams and they would come up and it was just bones. And, and pieces of metal twisted cage. Uh, I just added the cage in there. So.

• 23:43Speaker 01

You were allowed to, but we're allowed.

• 23:45Conan O'Brien?

We've drifted. Anyone who's tuning in right now has no idea that we're in the backseat of a car driving through the desert in Morocco on our way to Marrakech.

• 23:55Speaker 01

Yeah, if you're just tuning in to this podcast.

• 23:57Conan O'Brien?

If you're just tuning in. Well, I don't know how it works.

• 24:01Speaker 01

How do you not know how it works? It's been like eight years that you've been doing one.

• 24:05Conan O'Brien?

Picasso didn't understand how the paints were made.

• 24:08Speaker 01

  What?

• 24:08Conan O'Brien?

He, he used the, he used the medium, uh, in a masterful way and to find a. Defined a generation, really created 20th century art. So I think I'm doing the same thing with whatever this is. I don't even have to know what it is. But we're in Morocco and this is cool. We're, we're on to Mar- I've never been to Marrakech, have you?

• 24:28Speaker 01

  I've never been to Africa.

• 24:30Conan O'Brien?

  Oh, that's right.

• 24:31Speaker 01

I've never been to Africa and we, I haven't traveled with you since like 2017, I think.

• 24:37Conan O'Brien?

That's right. It's been fun having you. I will say that. You've been a great addition.

• 24:41Speaker 01

  I miss this.

• 24:42Conan O'Brien?

We've been having a really good time and I think you couldn't come for a long time because your kids were so little.

• 24:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:46Conan O'Brien?

Now they're old enough. You were FaceTiming with them the other day and I got on and they get, they know who I am, obviously. And I mean, I'm their, their, their godfather.

• 24:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:56Conan O'Brien?

Um, "I'm gonna make him an offer they can't refuse." Isn't that funny? That's pretty topical.

• 25:00Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's good.

• 25:01Conan O'Brien?

  Um.

• 25:02Speaker 01

  That's very topical.

• 25:03Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah. Uh, and.

• 25:05Speaker 01

It's all the rage right now.

• 25:06Conan O'Brien?

  It's a movie.

• 25:07Speaker 01

  Godfather.

• 25:07Conan O'Brien?

Yeah. "Use all your powers, use all your skills. I don't want his mother to see him like this." That's.

• 25:12Speaker 01

  Is that Trump?

• 25:13Conan O'Brien?

  That's my Trump.

• 25:20Conan O'Brien?

"Use all your powers, use all your skills on the economy." That's, you know what's funny? I'm doing political comedy right now.

• 25:27Speaker 01

  Yeah, I know.

• 25:28Conan O'Brien?

  It's very edgy.

• 25:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 25:29Conan O'Brien?

And also The New York Times is gonna love it because it's very smart and incisive.

• 25:33Speaker 01

  You know what? Yeah.

• 25:34Conan O'Brien?

"You know what I'm gonna do to Iran? I'm gonna make him an offer they can't refuse." Right? That's just, I mean, that's, I'm gonna get all of the best prizes for being smart.

• 25:42Speaker 01

But they can refuse it and they have refused it.

• 25:45Conan O'Brien?

Listen, but that's part of, oh, this is, I can't believe I'm a satirist now.

• 25:49Speaker 01

  Yeah, you are. Okay.

• 25:51Conan O'Brien?

  I'm pretty incisive.

• 25:52Speaker 01

Uh, but yeah, no, you're their godfather. They saw you. They were really excited. They love their Uncle Conan.

• 25:58Conan O'Brien?

But what I'm saying is they can now handle you taking off, so maybe you'll come on more trips.

• 26:02Speaker 01

Yeah. I would love to come on more trips. This was, this has been so fun. It's nice. It's nice for me to get away.

• 26:10Conan O'Brien?

And how does Tac do looking after the kids when you're gone?

• 26:12Speaker 01

He's great. He's such a good dad and he's able to handle it. He's on top of it. He feeds them, gets them ready for school, takes them all by after school stuff.

• 26:23Conan O'Brien?

That's getting boring. Um, when you said feeds them, I was like, okay, now we're gonna go down the list of meeting basic human needs. He waters them. He makes sure that-

• 26:34Speaker 01

How nervous was Liza every time she left you alone with your children?

• 26:38Conan O'Brien?

Do you think she left me alone with the kids?

• 26:39Speaker 01

  No, I don't.

• 26:40Conan O'Brien?

  No. No, she would not.

• 26:44Speaker 01

  I won't blame her.

• 26:45Conan O'Brien?

She knew better. I would use them for bits and they would be lost. I'd say, "I don't know where they were." The whole bit was they get on the bus and I don't know where it's going. That's the bit, Liza. So, no. Liza's an incredibly smart woman and that's the last thing she would ever do.

• 27:00Speaker 01

  Yes. Yes.

• 27:02Conan O'Brien?

And here's the thing. Oh, wow. Rashid, so Rashid peeks around the truck. And look at this. Then he guns it and passes the truck. Now Rashid, have you ever had a close call where you came around to go forward and then you almost got nailed?

• 27:15Speaker 03

  Uh, no.

• 27:17Conan O'Brien?

What'd he say? He doesn't want to talk about it?

• 27:20Speaker 01

Wait, when do you go off-road?

• 27:22Speaker 03

  Off-road? No. Today, no.

• 27:23Speaker 01

  Oh, okay.

• 27:24Speaker 03

  Today, no.

• 27:25Speaker 01

Have you ever gotten close to an accident?

• 27:29Speaker 03

Accident... for... last night or what?

• 27:33Conan O'Brien?

No! Last night? No one said last night!

• 27:38Conan O'Brien?

Rashid, you just blew your cover. Rashid, you're wanted for a hit-and-run.

• 27:44Conan O'Brien?

  They're looking for you.

• 27:47Speaker 01

No wonder the front of the car's all tinted.

• 27:49Conan O'Brien?

Last night? Rashid, you would be terrible in police questioning. "Sir, do you know anything about a crime last night?" Murder last night? Me? The sorority? Rashid?

• 28:05Conan O'Brien?

Oh, my God. All right. Rashid, you're gonna have to be a regular part of the podcast now. You're coming with us to Los Angeles.

• 28:12Speaker 01

  Yay!

• 28:13Conan O'Brien?

You're gonna live with Sona and Tac and all of her relatives. You'll sit at a long table.

• 28:17Speaker 01

We don't all live in one house!

• 28:19Conan O'Brien?

Oh, please. You know you will.

• 28:20Speaker 01

  That's not how it works!

• 28:21Conan O'Brien?

You guys sleep in a bunk bed that's 13 beds tall. Your dad's on the top, right? He puts little weights on his mustache so it unfolds over the side of the bunk bed. Um, I love Gil, you know that, but he has a mustache. It's ridiculous.

• 28:39Speaker 01

  Don't say it's ridiculous.

• 28:41Conan O'Brien?

  What?

• 28:42Speaker 01

Gil's mustache is not ridiculous, it's the coolest.

• 28:44Conan O'Brien?

No, no, he's a handsome man, he's a good guy, but it makes him very easy... I can become Gil at any time by just sticking a napkin under my nose and saying, "Sona, Sona." It's one of my better things that I do.

• 28:54Speaker 01

Is it better? Is it one of your better things?

• 28:55Conan O'Brien?

It's my best impression, it's better than my Trump. "I'm gonna make it out for I can't refuse." I only do that because the movie's so new. Alright, Sona, we're gonna wrap it up, but this is exciting, people are gonna hear this back home.

• 29:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:09Conan O'Brien?

And this is, and look, I'm gonna lower the window and you're just gonna hear what it's like outside in Morocco.

• 29:18Conan O'Brien?

You can hear the desert, listen.

• 29:23Speaker 01

Wow. I'm sorry, me talking about tech feeding the kids was boring?

• 29:29Conan O'Brien?

I'm trying to be international here, hold on a second. There's a, uh-oh. There's a policeman and he's looking at me holding the microphone out the window. Oh wait, he's scrolling through his phone, we're okay. Anyway, I put the microphone out the window and it's just air passing over a microphone. I didn't really think that through. But I thought it was still fascinating and a worthwhile experiment. Okay, well, Sona, I loved this trip, I can't wait for people to see what we've been up to.

• 29:55Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 29:55Conan O'Brien?

And, uh, let's continue with your regularly scheduled podcasts. And remember, gonna have a sexesh in Marrakech. Right?

• 30:07Speaker 01

  No, I like mine better.

• 30:08Conan O'Brien?

  Okay. Peace out.

• 30:12Speaker 02
