• 0:59Declan Donnelly?

Coming up on today's show, we find Ant's face in the most disturbing place.

• 1:04Ant McPartlin?

My face is not a dog's... I eventually address my face I pulled at the coronation. I don't know whether I was pretending to be one of the gogos on the... on the front of Westminster Abbey.

• 1:16Declan Donnelly?

And I address an April Fool's trick that went horribly wrong. We thought Deck was dead.

• 1:23Ant McPartlin?

Deck meddles with my banana rating system. We don't want to shake it up, we're just getting it going. We don't want to change. We like the bananas.

• 1:30Declan Donnelly?

And we discover a cracking new use for Ant's head.

• 1:35Ant McPartlin?

And I get offered a job at the palace. Enjoy the show.

• 1:43Declan Donnelly?

  Hello.

• 1:45Speaker 04

  Greetings.

• 1:46Declan Donnelly?

  Hi.

• 1:47Speaker 04

  Greetings.

• 1:48Declan Donnelly?

Oh, little chicks everywhere. Hello, little chickies.

• 1:52Ant McPartlin?

  Happy Easter, everybody.

• 1:54Declan Donnelly?

Hello. Good morning, good evening. Welcome back to the hangout for another Hanging Out with him and me.

• 1:59Ant McPartlin?

  Happy Easter, Deck.

• 2:00Declan Donnelly?

  They're on back to front.

• 2:01Ant McPartlin?

  What?

• 2:02Declan Donnelly?

You've got your ears on back to front. No wonder you can't hear anything.

• 2:05Ant McPartlin?

  Happy Easter, Deck.

• 2:06Declan Donnelly?

  Can you hear that?

• 2:07Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, I can hear better through these ears than I can these ears.

• 2:09Declan Donnelly?

  Can hear in those ones.

• 2:10Ant McPartlin?

Easter is my favourite holiday of the year.

• 2:13Declan Donnelly?

  Is it really?

• 2:14Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, it is.

• 2:15Declan Donnelly?

  How come?

• 2:16Ant McPartlin?

Because the sun's starting to come out. I love spring. I love the flowers coming out. And I love chocolate. I love chocolate. I love it so much. You know I do.

• 2:26Declan Donnelly?

  The true meaning of Easter.

• 2:28Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, Easter eggs. Exactly. I love it. I mean, I love chocolate throughout the year, but I particularly love Easter eggs.

• 2:35Declan Donnelly?

You can't be Easter eggs, can you? Straight out of the fridge.

• 2:37Ant McPartlin?

Out of the fridge, crack it in your mouth, and there's something about the thinness of the chocolate egg when you crack it in your mouth. It's that shape.

• 2:45Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 2:45Ant McPartlin?

Maybe it just fits the roof of your mouth better than a than a block of chocolate.

• 2:49Declan Donnelly?

  Eggs in general for me.

• 2:50Ant McPartlin?

  Well, no, not normal eggs.

• 2:52Declan Donnelly?

  Anything.

• 2:52Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, I know. Egg related, you love.

• 2:54Declan Donnelly?

Anything in the shape of an egg, I'm in.

• 2:55Ant McPartlin?

  Not wearing your ears?

• 2:57Declan Donnelly?

  No.

• 2:57Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, okay. Killjoy.

• 3:00Declan Donnelly?

  Do I have to?

• 3:01Ant McPartlin?

No, you don't have to. Depends how fun you are. You're obviously not feeling very fun today. He's not a fun guy today. Everybody else has got ears on here.

• 3:09Declan Donnelly?

Sexy's got them, Nice has got them, Heckler's Corner, they've all got their ears. Look, there's little chicks everywhere. Maybe I'm I'm being a bit left out. Look, Fiona's got one little ear like that.

• 3:20Speaker 05

  Shy.

• 3:21Declan Donnelly?

  One little spot.

• 3:22Ant McPartlin?

  She's a shy bunny.

• 3:23Declan Donnelly?

She's got one one little bent ear there in the corner. Shall I put them on?

• 3:27Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, go on then. That'll do. Yeah, you're happy Easter. Happy Easter, everybody. What is wrong?

• 3:34Declan Donnelly?

  I just, I don't go for things.

• 3:35Ant McPartlin?

You're dressed up for World Book Day. You like that? You're dressed up as the fox?

• 3:39Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 3:40Ant McPartlin?

You get dressed up every Halloween. You love Halloween. He hates dressing up. One thing about Deck, uh, he hates fancy dress. Hates it.

• 3:47Declan Donnelly?

  Hates it.

• 3:47Ant McPartlin?

Yeah. Doesn't find the fun in it at all.

• 3:50Declan Donnelly?

Hate it. If I get a invite through and people go, oh, I saw somebody's having a party. Oh, it's fancy dress. Why would you do that to people?

• 4:00Ant McPartlin?

I always said Woody Woody from Toy Story would be a very good fancy dress outfit for Deck. Wouldn't it though? It would.

• 4:07Declan Donnelly?

There's a snake in my boot.

• 4:08Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, see? He knows the words.

• 4:11Ant McPartlin?

And I can be Buzz Lightyear. Yes.

• 4:13Declan Donnelly?

  That would be good.

• 4:15Ant McPartlin?

Let's do a Halloween special. I'll be Buzz Lightyear, you can be, um, Woody from Toy Story. Why are you doing that?

• 4:21Declan Donnelly?

Oh, because already I'm dreading it.

• 4:23Ant McPartlin?

Okay, well, we'll put it out to the viewers. If you'd like to see it, just let us know. Buzz Lightyear and Woody.

• 4:28Declan Donnelly?

Or if you can't be bothered to watch it, just let us know and we won't do it.

• 4:32Ant McPartlin?

They're definitely gonna wanna watch us do that now. Definitely. Before we get cracking, can I just say?

• 4:37Declan Donnelly?

  Cracking.

• 4:38Ant McPartlin?

  What?

• 4:39Declan Donnelly?

  Cracking.

• 4:40Ant McPartlin?

Why are you saying it like that? Before we get cracking.

• 4:43Declan Donnelly?

  Cracking.

• 4:43Ant McPartlin?

Why are you saying it like that?

• 4:45Declan Donnelly?

  Easter.

• 4:46Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, I know.

• 4:48Ant McPartlin?

  Before we get started.

• 4:50Declan Donnelly?

  Cracking.

• 4:51Ant McPartlin?

Can I just say, April Fools.

• 4:53Declan Donnelly?

  Ah.

• 4:54Ant McPartlin?

The picture of Deck with a beard yesterday was photoshopped. It wasn't real because we all know he can't grow a beard.

• 5:00Declan Donnelly?

No, I can grow a beard.

• 5:02Ant McPartlin?

  What?

• 5:02Declan Donnelly?

I just haven't got time at the moment.

• 5:03Ant McPartlin?

He doesn't have time to grow a beard.

• 5:05Declan Donnelly?

But, um, I hope we fooled you with our April Fool, with my, uh, big bushy beard. Sorry if, uh, I upset you with any of that, but, uh...

• 5:15Ant McPartlin?

You did look very rugged and dishy though. You should grow one.

• 5:17Declan Donnelly?

  Thank you.

• 5:17Ant McPartlin?

If you could. If you could.

• 5:19Declan Donnelly?

  I can.

• 5:20Ant McPartlin?

Do you like April Fools? We got into trouble, yes, go to me on Saturday mornings.

• 5:24Declan Donnelly?

  We got in real trouble.

• 5:25Ant McPartlin?

When we did an April Fools.

• 5:27Declan Donnelly?

  Live on Saturday morning.

• 5:29Ant McPartlin?

Because we realised that the Saturday morning, uh, was gonna be April Fools and we, we, I think we realised on the Friday.

• 5:37Declan Donnelly?

It was Friday night we realised.

• 5:38Ant McPartlin?

Oh my God, it's April Fool's tomorrow. We have to do something.

• 5:40Declan Donnelly?

We've got to do something on the show. I'm like, we're probably never gonna be on air on April Fools again because obviously it goes on.

• 5:46Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 5:47Declan Donnelly?

A day every year and we weren't gonna be there seven years later to do it again. This is an amazing opportunity. We must do something on April Fools Day, live on Saturday morning, kids' telly.

• 5:56Ant McPartlin?

And then we all sat down and went, what can we do? And everything we thought of had been done before was too obvious and was, you know, kind of see-through. You could tell it was an April Fools gag and we were scratching our heads for a while and Deck went, I know, I've faint.

• 6:11Ant McPartlin?

What do you mean? I'll pretend faint on the telly and then I'll say April Fools.

• 6:17Declan Donnelly?

So I think we would do, was it like we were doing the postbag dance or something? And I'd go a bit queasy, I'd go a bit queasy and then I fainted. And then we did it that the camera goes to the side and the floor manager rushes in. We wanted to make it look really, really real. So then we did it, went to Sabrina the Teenage Witch or whatever it was. And we were in the studio preparing for the next bit and the executive producer runs in and goes, "The phones are going crazy. People are ringing up. Is he all right? Is it?" And.

• 6:44Ant McPartlin?

But the kids were really upset watching it. I think there was complaints off com eventually.

• 6:50Declan Donnelly?

So we had to do it. We had to do April Fools when we came back and I'm sorry if anybody was upset by that. And then obviously after that, there was a bit of a press storm around it. So this was before social media.

• 7:03Ant McPartlin?

  Official complaints after it.

• 7:04Declan Donnelly?

I went back to Newcastle the following day for the weekend and I got off the plane in Newcastle and I was walking past the newsagent and on the front of the local paper up there was the headline in the Sunday Sun. And it was just said, "We thought Dec was dead."

• 7:21Declan Donnelly?

And there's like little kids on the front crying. I was like, "Oh my god."

• 7:26Declan Donnelly?

This has gone so badly wrong.

• 7:30Ant McPartlin?

This is an advert for Santander who understand that getting started on a goal isn't easy. And embracing messy beginnings is how progress happens.

• 7:39Declan Donnelly?

Now, I was thinking, you know, we talked the other week about when starting SMTV Live. How it was chaotic and.

• 7:44Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, messy.

• 7:45Declan Donnelly?

  Messy.

• 7:45Ant McPartlin?

  Messy beginnings.

• 7:46Declan Donnelly?

How we didn't know really what we were doing for a couple of months before it became a hit. I was thinking though about previous to that, your Biker Grove audition story. I mean, that nearly didn't happen because you didn't want to take the first step in audition for the show.

• 8:00Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, I was too. So what happened was I was too nervous. I'd got, I'd done a first audition at school when the producers came to the school. And then I got a letter saying, "Come for a second audition, the big proper audition down at the studio." But I got too nervous and I hid the letter and I wasn't going to audition because the nerves got the better of us and I wasn't even going to start. But my friend. Told my mother about it and she frogmarched me down there and said, just take, just take a chance, take that first step. And if you don't want it, if, if you get the job and you don't want it, that's fair enough. But if you don't take that first step, you'll never know and you'll kick yourself forever.

• 8:37Declan Donnelly?

And that would be the worst thing is not knowing.

• 8:40Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 8:40Declan Donnelly?

When, wondering whether you'd have got the part if you hadn't have done it.

• 8:44Ant McPartlin?

If I'd have taken that first step.

• 8:45Declan Donnelly?

  This podcast wouldn't have existed.

• 8:46Ant McPartlin?

And if I'd waited for the perfect time, I would never have done it.

• 8:48Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, well, there is never a perfect time.

• 8:49Ant McPartlin?

There's never a perfect time for anything. You've just got to do it. Just get started and see where it takes you. And that's what Santander is all about. Understanding that beginnings don't have to be perfect and get it started is what it's all about. Santander, it starts here.

• 9:04Declan Donnelly?

  What you been up to?

• 9:06Ant McPartlin?

Oh, okay. I've passed the Easter chat.

• 9:10Declan Donnelly?

I just know what to say about it. It's lovely outside.

• 9:12Ant McPartlin?

What have I been up to? Yeah, I've been out in the spring.

• 9:15Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 9:15Ant McPartlin?

Lovely, playing with the kids in the, in the garden, which is lovely.

• 9:18Declan Donnelly?

Makes such a difference when the sun comes out.

• 9:19Ant McPartlin?

It's lovely, isn't it? I absolutely adore it. I'll tell you what I did do.

• 9:22Declan Donnelly?

  Go on.

• 9:23Ant McPartlin?

My youngest daughter, Poppy, has just passed the driving test. First time, by the way. Congrats. Woo, well done, Poppy. And she is driving to school, which is wonderful. So no more.

• 9:35Declan Donnelly?

  God, it's mad, isn't it?

• 9:36Ant McPartlin?

No more school runs. It's crazy. So we wave her off in the morning, but she's got that thing, you know, when you first pass your driving test where you have the fear of running out of petrol? And she keeps ringing us when she gets to school. It's, it's, it's gone down a bar. It's gone, I said, you'll be fine. So once it hits red, you'll be like, you've got like 20 miles, 30 miles. It's gone down again. So I had to take her to the garage last night. It's a very proud moment, this. Had to take her to the garage and show her how to put petrol in the car. I know, it's nice, isn't it?

• 10:01Declan Donnelly?

Something you don't even think about, isn't it?

• 10:03Ant McPartlin?

Yeah. She said, what do I do? I've got no idea what to do. I said, well, have you never looked up from the backseat in the, all the years I've been driving?

• 10:09Declan Donnelly?

  No, they don't.

• 10:10Ant McPartlin?

Clearly not. So, yeah, we went in, I explained to her that, did you know this? You know this. But if you look at your dashboard and where you can see the little petrol sign on your, on your dash, there's an arrow pointing either left or right. So the way it's pointing is where your fuel cap is on the car.

• 10:29Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, she didn't know that. Not many people do know that.

• 10:31Declan Donnelly?

You see, we've got handy hints as well.

• 10:33Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, you see.

• 10:34Declan Donnelly?

  What a podcast this is.

• 10:35Ant McPartlin?

So I explained that to her. So she was like, it's on the right hand side. I said, that's your side. So pull in with your.

• 10:39Declan Donnelly?

  Pull up the thing.

• 10:40Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, pull up with, so the pumps are on your right hand side. So she, um, put the petrol in, went and paid for herself, signed her up for a point. So every time she fills up with petrol, she gets points.

• 10:49Declan Donnelly?

  What a points maker.

• 10:50Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah. Money off, money off.

• 10:52Declan Donnelly?

  Money off.

• 10:52Ant McPartlin?

Money off. It was good. That's it, really. Apart from that, quite quiet, but a very proud moment.

• 10:58Declan Donnelly?

  Oh, that's lovely.

• 10:59Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, it's good, isn't it? You?

• 11:00Declan Donnelly?

Say where I've been, Rocky had a bit of a mishap on a walk, so he's hurt his back again. And miniature Dachshunds have very fragile backs.

• 11:07Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 11:07Declan Donnelly?

So I had to take him down to see Super Vet.

• 11:10Ant McPartlin?

  Noel.

• 11:11Declan Donnelly?

  Noel Fitzpatrick.

• 11:13Ant McPartlin?

  The actual Super Vet.

• 11:14Declan Donnelly?

The actual Super Vet. So Noel operated on his, I did actually. Noel operated on his back about 10 years ago. And so we took him back down to see Noel.

• 11:21Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 11:22Declan Donnelly?

And you turn up at the place, I have to say, it is incredible down there. The work that they do.

• 11:27Ant McPartlin?

  Right, yeah.

• 11:28Declan Donnelly?

And the people down there, and the expertise that they have down there is second to none. And I had a real Super Vet moment when I turned up. And we pulled in the car park and I got the car and I was walking in and out of the doors came a dog and it had like a bandage around one arm. And three legs on the ground and on the fourth leg was a wheel. And he was walking along and wheeling his other leg along. And he was like, is that not just the most Super Vet thing you've ever seen? I was like, it was like I was in an episode of Super Vet. But the dog was dead happy and his tail was wagging. And it's like, he'd obviously been through something really traumatic. But Noel and the team had done this amazing work, fixed this dog and he was off with his little wheel, toddling along.

• 12:08Declan Donnelly?

It was like, it was exactly that. It was kind of teared me up. Also, you kind of go, oh my God, this dog now has a new lease of life.

• 12:15Ant McPartlin?

  Tears of joy.

• 12:16Declan Donnelly?

Tears of joy. So yeah, we took Rocky down. Noel was brilliant with him as per MRI'd him, looked at his spine, all of that. And so he's on rest medication.

• 12:27Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 12:27Declan Donnelly?

  He's on the mend.

• 12:28Ant McPartlin?

  Good.

• 12:28Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, shout out to Noel and all the people down at Fitzpatrick for doing such an incredible job. It's just amazing what they do down there.

• 12:34Ant McPartlin?

Are you gonna be on the telly?

• 12:36Declan Donnelly?

I don't think I'm gonna be on the telly. I don't think my story was interesting enough. It's like, come on Rocky, for goodness sake.

• 12:43Ant McPartlin?

But you're on telly. Like, it'd be good. It's like a double win. It's a good dog story because he's, he's helped heal your dog, but you're on telly.

• 12:51Declan Donnelly?

  Right, I see.

• 12:52Ant McPartlin?

You're already on telly. It'll be like a celebrity special. Wouldn't it?

• 12:57Declan Donnelly?

Yeah. It would be nice to be on the telly.

• 12:59Ant McPartlin?

  It was.

• 13:00Declan Donnelly?

  Like.

• 13:01Ant McPartlin?

It's always nice to be on the telly.

• 13:02Declan Donnelly?

But like, a couple of weeks ago, do you remember, we went to the Chelsea Newcastle game at Stamford Bridge? And it was live on Sky. And you sit there in the stands and you're watching the game and suddenly your phone blows up. And there's loads of people going, you've just been on the telly. You've just been on the telly.

• 13:16Speaker 05

We actually got loads of messages about that.

• 13:18Declan Donnelly?

  Really?

• 13:18Speaker 05

Everyone was really annoyed because you were sitting the wrong way around.

• 13:20Declan Donnelly?

We were sitting the wrong way around.

• 13:21Ant McPartlin?

We were sitting the wrong way around. And there was a shot of me kissing my wife. And then someone said, Dex is going to be furious about that.

• 13:30Declan Donnelly?

It's like, but it's, it is saving for the bedroom or the kitchen or whatever you do. You don't have to do it with the football.

• 13:35Ant McPartlin?

We were celebrating with a kiss.

• 13:36Speaker 05

People also wanted to know what you were telling Ally about the, the ceiling or something.

• 13:41Ant McPartlin?

  What?

• 13:41Declan Donnelly?

  I have no idea.

• 13:43Speaker 05

There was this long shot of you explaining something.

• 13:47Declan Donnelly?

What's that? Man splattered the ceiling.

• 13:51Ant McPartlin?

  Man splattered clouds.

• 13:54Declan Donnelly?

  What's that?

• 13:55Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, I don't know what it might be. There's, there's a screen.

• 13:57Declan Donnelly?

Oh, there's a screen up above.

• 13:58Ant McPartlin?

At Stamford Bridge, when, uh, when you're in the direct box, there's, they've got screens so they're, they can watch the replays. So it might have been that.

• 14:05Declan Donnelly?

You might have pointed at something on the telly. Maybe I was going, I think I've just been on the telly.

• 14:09Ant McPartlin?

  It's, I'm kissing.

• 14:12Declan Donnelly?

But yeah, when, when you're not supposed to be on the telly, like something like that, I get loads of texts of people going, you're on the telly. You've just been on the telly.

• 14:19Ant McPartlin?

And it's really exciting. The best ever was when Newcastle won the Carabao Cup final. And ITV and Sky had the, the, the coverage of it. But we were on ITV's coverage loads and it was, I mean, we were crying, we were dropping them down, we were celebrating because we won. But that was very good to be, to be part of that. In, in our own little way, we were part of the win. But then after that, I saw loads of edits of our win on TikTok. And people put like really like, uh, emotional music over it.

• 14:48Declan Donnelly?

  Of me and you hugging?

• 14:50Ant McPartlin?

No, but like the win, it's Dan Burn with their head out and they're us hugging and then the music's re, and I'm like, oh my God. I'm in it and I'm crying.

• 14:59Declan Donnelly?

Ah, it's mad. How excited people get when we get on the telly.

• 15:03Ant McPartlin?

Since it's Easter, I've got you, got you something?

• 15:06Declan Donnelly?

  A prezi?

• 15:07Ant McPartlin?

Maybe. Let me just have a look at my drawer.

• 15:11Declan Donnelly?

A prezi? For me? At Easter time? What is it, what is it, what is it?

• 15:15Ant McPartlin?

  Since you love

• 15:18Ant McPartlin?

  eggs.

• 15:19Declan Donnelly?

  Yes.

• 15:20Ant McPartlin?

  I got you.

• 15:21Declan Donnelly?

  Yes.

• 15:22Ant McPartlin?

Just some eggs. Got you six eggs. There you go.

• 15:24Declan Donnelly?

  Actually, I'm delighted with that.

• 15:25Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah? Happy, happy Easter.

• 15:26Declan Donnelly?

Oh, look, they're good ones as well.

• 15:27Ant McPartlin?

Are they good ones? How do you know they're good ones?

• 15:29Declan Donnelly?

  Oh, dark brown shells.

• 15:30Ant McPartlin?

I got them from a farmer.

• 15:31Declan Donnelly?

  Oh.

• 15:31Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, is that why?

• 15:32Declan Donnelly?

  Proper farm eggs?

• 15:33Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, you see, farm eggs. You could crack one open and eat one now if you want, but I would rather you didn't because that was just, that would disgust me.

• 15:40Declan Donnelly?

  Oh, they're good.

• 15:41Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, don't let's, don't do that. We don't want eggy smells in here. But I did also get you a chocolate egg.

• 15:47Declan Donnelly?

  Oh, that's.

• 15:48Ant McPartlin?

Your favourite as well. Buttons, Cadbury's buttons. Happy Easter.

• 15:52Declan Donnelly?

That is really kind of you. Look at that. That is nice and small.

• 15:58Ant McPartlin?

What? I took it out of the box?

• 16:00Declan Donnelly?

Oh, I suppose. The box, was the box really big?

• 16:01Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, the box is really big.

• 16:03Declan Donnelly?

  All right.

• 16:03Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 16:04Declan Donnelly?

Well, I got you an egg as well. Do you want it now?

• 16:06Ant McPartlin?

Yes, please. Yes. I bloody love Easter and I bloody love Easter eggs. Please, please, please, please, please, please be, please be right. If you know me, if you know me, if you know me, if you know, oh my God, yes! Yes! Yes!

• 16:22Declan Donnelly?

  Is that what you wanted?

• 16:23Ant McPartlin?

  Yes. Is this Galaxy?

• 16:25Declan Donnelly?

  It is Galaxy.

• 16:25Ant McPartlin?

Yes! He knows me very well. Now, the way we crack it in our houses.

• 16:33Declan Donnelly?

  Do you genuinely?

• 16:33Ant McPartlin?

Every time. Even the kids do it. Crack it on my head.

• 16:36Declan Donnelly?

  Do you?

• 16:36Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 16:36Declan Donnelly?

What, crack it on your head?

• 16:37Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, everyone cracks it on my head. I've got a big head. Doesn't hurt. Go on, go on, be free.

• 16:44Ant McPartlin?

No, go on, go for it. Go for it.

• 16:46Declan Donnelly?

  That's quite, that's quite sore.

• 16:48Ant McPartlin?

  Go on.

• 16:50Ant McPartlin?

That was very gentle. Oh my God.

• 16:52Declan Donnelly?

  Is it good?

• 16:53Ant McPartlin?

Oh my God. If you're just listening, this hasn't been in the fridge as much as I'd like, but there's still a little crack there. The cracking of the egg. Oh God, yeah, this is so good.

• 17:06Ant McPartlin?

This is like ASMR, me eating chocolate. I love chocolate.

• 17:10Declan Donnelly?

  Look at that.

• 17:12Ant McPartlin?

And I had no breakfast, so like literally this is the first thing I've eaten today. It'll be like Easter Sunday.

• 17:16Declan Donnelly?

  That is like Easter.

• 17:16Ant McPartlin?

Yeah. Here you go. I'm listening to this. Mmm. Huh? Go on.

• 17:23Declan Donnelly?

  Mine's not crunchy.

• 17:26Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 17:26Declan Donnelly?

  It was made too soft.

• 17:29Ant McPartlin?

  It was in me bag.

• 17:32Ant McPartlin?

I got it from the garage last night when I went with Poppy to get a petrol.

• 17:38Declan Donnelly?

Oh, that's lovely. Well, I hope you're enjoying your eggs wherever you are.

• 17:41Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah. Happy Easter, guys.

• 17:42Declan Donnelly?

  Happy Easter, everyone.

• 17:45Ant McPartlin?

  What the heck?

• 17:46Declan Donnelly?

We've got a paper plane in from Heckler's Corner.

• 17:49Ant McPartlin?

Ever noticed how many Easter eggs there are in films? Would you like some examples?

• 17:54Declan Donnelly?

  Yes, I would.

• 17:56Ant McPartlin?

The hidden Mickey's in Disney Pixar films. For decades, Disney animators have tucked that iconic three-circle silhouette of Mickey Mouse in the background of almost every film. From the bubbles in Cinderella to the maps in Zootopia. Did you know that?

• 18:09Declan Donnelly?

  I did not know that.

• 18:10Ant McPartlin?

I didn't know that. That's a good one. Since the eighties, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have hidden cross-franchise references in plain sight. The most famous examples are the hieroglyphics of R2-D2 in C-3PO and Raiders of the Lost Ark: Snake Pit. And the club Obi-Wan nightclub in The Temple of Dune. In return, the Indiana Jones Golden Idol appears as a trophy in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

• 18:35Ant McPartlin?

Oh, time of the diary, is it?

• 18:37Declan Donnelly?

  Diary's out.

• 18:37Ant McPartlin?

Just whipped it out. Just whipped out his diary.

• 18:39Declan Donnelly?

  Got it here.

• 18:40Ant McPartlin?

  Last week was very good.

• 18:41Declan Donnelly?

  Last week was very good.

• 18:42Ant McPartlin?

I'm a bit afraid that we might be slightly underwhelmed by today's entry.

• 18:46Declan Donnelly?

I think we might have a little bit of an excitement hangover.

• 18:49Ant McPartlin?

But that's okay. That's life, isn't it? Some days you're up there, some days you're down there.

• 18:53Declan Donnelly?

Now, last week we had a super duper jingle.

• 18:55Ant McPartlin?

  We did.

• 18:56Declan Donnelly?

  From Mr. and Mrs. Jemima.

• 18:57Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah. Do we have another?

• 18:58Declan Donnelly?

Have we got a different one or are we gonna go with that one again?

• 19:00Speaker 04

  We've got one from Dan.

• 19:01Declan Donnelly?

  Dan has sent one.

• 19:02Ant McPartlin?

  Dan, hit it.

• 19:04Speaker 04

  Next diary.

• 19:20Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, well done Dan. Very Eurovision, very good. Very good, very 1994. Very 94. That's brilliant. That's like something we would perform on the Ms. Road show. Yeah, it is. It's like a Steps B-side. Yes. It is. I like it. It's the 8th of April, 1994. Alright. Day 12 of life on the road. Seven and a half hours. London to Rochdale. Seven and a half hours. You've brought it twice. I have, yeah. Shocked by that. Didn't like that journey. I was very wound up by it. Boy was I bored. Wow. Do you know what? I'm slightly offended because I'm in the car with you. Yeah, for seven and a half hours.

• 20:05Declan Donnelly?

I know, but come on. You're that bored? No mobile phones. Yeah? No, no. Back then we had mobile phones. We talked. Living on for seven and a half hours. Alright, alright. Fair enough. By the time we found it, Matthew and his camera crew were there. Who? Matthew Robinson and his camera crew were there, ready to shoot their fly on the wall documentary. Oh, they did, yeah. They did do a fly on the wall documentary. And? Did we like it? Ooh, that'll be fun to do. Not.

• 20:36Declan Donnelly?

I've got very cynical all of a sudden. Oh, you really has. I don't know why. You're a cynical washed up pop star at this stage. You've only released two singles. Well, we haven't even done that. I've only been on the road 12 days. And already I'm over it. We had to do Why Me twice. Why? So they could get enough footage. Ah. Bah.

• 20:59Declan Donnelly?

  Bah.

• 21:10Declan Donnelly?

Bah, B A H, bah. The crowd were brill though.

• 21:15Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, that's good.

• 21:16Declan Donnelly?

And they wanted to hear it again.

• 21:17Ant McPartlin?

For a third time, wow, easily pleased, oh what.

• 21:21Declan Donnelly?

After the gig and eventually getting away, we arrived back at our hotel at one fifty five a m.

• 21:28Ant McPartlin?

What, so we only played two songs we got in that list?

• 21:31Declan Donnelly?

I don't know where we went afterwards. We got into bed and asleep by three ish and an alarm call booked for six thirty a m. Made us dread the morning.

• 21:41Ant McPartlin?

  Bah, bah.

• 21:43Declan Donnelly?

Next episode will be the ninth of April nineteen ninety four. And it's on next week's show, which will come out on the ninth of April twenty twenty six.

• 21:56Ant McPartlin?

  So what's that, thirty?

• 21:57Declan Donnelly?

  Thirty two years.

• 21:59Ant McPartlin?

  To the day.

• 22:00Declan Donnelly?

And we've physically caught up with ourselves next week.

• 22:03Ant McPartlin?

This is like an eight twenty four movie, isn't it?

• 22:07Declan Donnelly?

And we're doing live and kicking next week.

• 22:10Ant McPartlin?

  With Andy Peters?

• 22:11Declan Donnelly?

I think so, Andy Peters, sadly not Zoe Ball. Hello.

• 22:18Ant McPartlin?

That's good, that's good, you're right though, slight, slight hangover from the day before, but that's okay, you're at Curry House.

• 22:24Declan Donnelly?

We, yeah, we had a, we had a private jet, Radio One Roadshow, Blue Peter, the day, fly on the whole documentary.

• 22:30Ant McPartlin?

Ah, well, they can't all be great days, can they?

• 22:32Declan Donnelly?

  Life on the road, eh?

• 22:33Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, life on the road.

• 22:36Ant McPartlin?

I watched a good movie at the weekend, which I thought I would fill you in on.

• 22:40Declan Donnelly?

  Go on.

• 22:40Ant McPartlin?

Give you a little banana rating on. So there's been a lot of football on the telly recently, hasn't there?

• 22:45Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah, a lot, a lot.

• 22:46Ant McPartlin?

Outvoted when it comes to movies in my house at the minute. So the movie that was chosen, not by me, but by the rest of the family, was a movie called Eternity. You heard of it? It's an eight twenty four movie, starring Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner, and Divine Joy Randolph. So the premise, good, it's a good premise, very eight twenty four, so this guy dies, goes to the next place. Not necessarily heaven, just the next place before he chooses his eternity. So there's a little holding area, right? Before you choose the eternity for you.

• 23:21Declan Donnelly?

  Yes.

• 23:22Ant McPartlin?

He hangs around because he's elderly when he dies, he hangs around for his wife to pass away so then they can choose eternity together.

• 23:29Declan Donnelly?

I have heard of this film.

• 23:30Ant McPartlin?

She passes away, she goes to the next place, meets him, there's a problem.

• 23:37Ant McPartlin?

Her ex-husband is also there. So will she go to eternity with the current husband? Yeah. Or the first husband? It's very good. Is it good? And I didn't think I'd like it. It's a bit rom-com-y. It's not really for me. Uh, I was a bit like, oh, I want to watch the trailer, but actually it's good. Divine Joey Randolph is really funny. It reminds us of like, you know, when you watched Ghost for the first time? Uh huh. And Whoopi Goldberg was just hilarious in it. Yeah. But there was a, you know, it was a romantic comedy at heart. It's a bit like that. It's a romantic comedy at heart. Right. But with nice humour, well-written. I'd give it like six and a half, seven bananas. It's a really good. Well, choose one, six and a half or seven. Okay, uh, six and a half, six and a half.

• 24:19Ant McPartlin?

No, but I, but I can, but I can imagine, cause it's probably 10 minutes too long. Talk to me about it. You could take 10 minutes out of it. Right. Because you get, you get the gist. And who did she choose? Well, I'm not gonna tell you and give it away, am I? I just saved me watching it. But the whole point of you having an eternity that you have to choose. And is it gonna be like golf eternity? Or beach eternity or woodland eternity? Like, then you could pick a place that you could spend eternity in. Wow. What would you pick? It got me thinking. This podcast studio, cause it feels like I'm in this for an eternity.

• 24:54Ant McPartlin?

At the moment. Not like golf. Oh, no, yeah. Or would you, would you be beachy? Beachy. Would you be, because the two options she has is like a beach paradise eternity. And the other one is her other husband really enjoys outdoors. So he likes skiing, he likes mountains, he likes trekking. So she kind of has to choose between the two. I'd go beachy. Yeah, you'd go beachy? Beachy eternity. Yeah, uh, so yeah, six and a half banana ratings. Whack it on there. Great. Very, very good. Get watching. Ally'd like it. Will she? Yeah, she will. She's very hard to please. Is she? Yeah, very. Does she not like a rom-com? She loves a rom-com. Man, does she like kissing? Don't know.

• 25:32Declan Donnelly?

  We'll give that a try.

• 25:33Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, you should, you should do.

• 25:35Declan Donnelly?

And then we'll watch the film.

• 25:36Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 25:39Declan Donnelly?

I was thinking, and as it's Easter as well, um, we're, we're rating everything a lot. It's quite heavily skewed towards the bananas.

• 25:46Ant McPartlin?

Well, yeah, because it's banana rating, of course it's skewed.

• 25:50Declan Donnelly?

I wonder whether we do anything for eggs.

• 25:51Ant McPartlin?

  What do you mean?

• 25:52Declan Donnelly?

Is there an eggy kind of rating we can give things like?

• 25:55Ant McPartlin?

  Like what?

• 25:57Declan Donnelly?

  Like a dozen eggs?

• 25:58Ant McPartlin?

  Two.

• 25:59Declan Donnelly?

  Shake it up a bit?

• 26:00Ant McPartlin?

We don't want to shake it up, we're just getting it going.

• 26:02Declan Donnelly?

  Are we?

• 26:02Ant McPartlin?

We're just getting it going, getting people rating things like on TripAdvisor and restaurants they've been to. They're just starting to movies, TV shows, they're just starting to rate things in bananas. Why are you bringing eggs into it now?

• 26:14Declan Donnelly?

Just for a bit of a change.

• 26:15Ant McPartlin?

We don't want to change. We like the bananas.

• 26:17Declan Donnelly?

  Do we?

• 26:18Ant McPartlin?

It can be an addition too.

• 26:19Declan Donnelly?

  Right.

• 26:20Ant McPartlin?

If you want. Well, what have you watched recently?

• 26:22Declan Donnelly?

  Small Profits.

• 26:23Ant McPartlin?

  Oh yeah, it's good.

• 26:24Declan Donnelly?

  I loved it.

• 26:25Ant McPartlin?

Yeah? What would you give it? So what's the, what's the total? A dozen?

• 26:29Declan Donnelly?

  A dozen eggs.

• 26:30Ant McPartlin?

  That's a, that's a lot, isn't it?

• 26:31Declan Donnelly?

  A lot.

• 26:32Ant McPartlin?

Go on though, a dozen eggs, what would you give it?

• 26:34Declan Donnelly?

I'd probably give it a dozen eggs.

• 26:35Ant McPartlin?

  You'd give it 12 out of 12?

• 26:36Declan Donnelly?

  I think I would, yeah.

• 26:37Ant McPartlin?

  Would you?

• 26:37Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah. It's so good.

• 26:39Ant McPartlin?

I haven't watched it yet, I'll watch it.

• 26:40Declan Donnelly?

  It's so good.

• 26:41Ant McPartlin?

  Okay.

• 26:42Declan Donnelly?

  You've got to see it.

• 26:43Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 26:43Declan Donnelly?

Mackenzie Crook directs it, I think he wrote it, directed it, plays a brilliant part in it as well. Michael Palin's in it, who's brilliant playing the main character's father.

• 26:53Ant McPartlin?

  What's the premise?

• 26:54Declan Donnelly?

Well, it's quite difficult to explain.

• 26:56Ant McPartlin?

Please try. If you're going to start rating things in eggs, you need to come prepared, my friend.

• 27:00Declan Donnelly?

My character works in a hardware store. His father is in an old people's home and talks of days gone by about how he was an explorer and used to travel the world. He's a scientist.

• 27:12Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 27:13Declan Donnelly?

And he's got these old books, old journals about how, um, you can conjure up these small prophets.

• 27:20Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 27:21Declan Donnelly?

Like they're little, almost like seahorse creatures and they can tell you your future. They can answer you one question, but they will answer it truthfully.

• 27:30Ant McPartlin?

  Where do they live?

• 27:31Declan Donnelly?

So, well, this is the thing, and he's like, he's thinking, my dad's a bit doulally, but I'll just, I'll do this just to please him.

• 27:37Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 27:38Declan Donnelly?

And lo and behold, he starts growing small profits in his garden shed. They start to take shape and the neighbours start getting wind of what he's doing and like, what's he doing in that shed? So anyway, it's the, it's the story of him growing these small profits and getting to ask them or preparing to ask them one question that they will answer him truthfully, that he really wants to know the answer to. I don't want to tell you too much more, but it's just really gentle, it's really warm, really sweet, so very watchable. Everybody in it is brilliant. Uh, it's just so lovely. Feel good. Yeah. Twelve bananas. No, twelve. No, what is it? A dozen eggs. We're back to bananas.

• 28:21Declan Donnelly?

A dozen eggs, eight bananas, dozen, dozen eggs. And a dozen eggs for small profits. Watch it. Very good. It's brilliant. Okay.

• 28:30Declan Donnelly?

Is the map back this week? We've got our map. Good. Well, I'm gonna do the UK. World map? No, we're UK today. Okay. We've got people listening in lots of fun places. Good. Around the UK. Let's hear it. Oh, is a chick on the map. There's a little chick on the map. We've got the Woolly family. Hi, Woolly family. I don't think they're a bunch of sheep. No? I think they're just a family called the Woolies. They're living in Parbold. Where's that? In Lancashire. Lancashire? So that's here somewhere. There you go. Greater Manchester. Ever been? Never been? Never been to Parbold? Well, I don't think so. I wouldn't remember that name. You been to Blackpool? Been to Blackpool, been to Manchester, been to Preston. Yeah, we know that area pretty well. Never been to Parbold? Never. Invite us, we'll stay. Natalie is listening in Norton Keynes. Where's that?

• 29:15Declan Donnelly?

Near Cannock. Hello, Natalie. Becky is in Widnes. Widnes. Yeah, I know where Widnes is. In Cheshire. Cheshire, yeah. So that must be here. There they are. Have you, have you been? Don't know if I've been to Widnes. No? No funny stories, no service stations or sandwiches? No. No, gotta save that for Cannock. Okay. Meg is in Otley. Where's Otley? I know Otley. West Yorkshire. West, yes. So that must be here, up near Wakey. Yeah, near Wakefield. I, I think, do we, have we passed through there before? We've been to Otley? Think we've been to Otley. I'm sure we've been to Otley. Yeah, we have. Loads, we had loads of fun. Can't remember it now, though. Gemma is in Shetland. Shetland? Like the ponies? Yes. Whoa. It's all the way up there, isn't it? Look at that.

• 29:59Declan Donnelly?

Look, where, where the Shetland Islands are. Do you get reception up there? Can you hear us? Can you hear us in Shetland? Can you hear, have you got any service? What time is it there? Never been to Shetland?

• 30:13Ant McPartlin?

  Uh, don't think so.

• 30:15Declan Donnelly?

  Me neither.

• 30:15Ant McPartlin?

Invite me round. Our offer still stands. If you invite us round, you get a big shop in, clean the sheets, and there is an ensuite bathroom, we will stay at your house. And you have to have wifi. Wifi.

• 30:27Declan Donnelly?

  No chance up there.

• 30:28Ant McPartlin?

  Wifi.

• 30:29Declan Donnelly?

  In Shetland?

• 30:29Ant McPartlin?

  No wifi?

• 30:30Declan Donnelly?

  Not in Shetland.

• 30:30Ant McPartlin?

  Nah.

• 30:31Declan Donnelly?

  What time is it there?

• 30:32Ant McPartlin?

How do you get there even? Is there an airport in Shetland? Or is it all by boat? These are the answers we need to know, Shetland! Please get in touch! Do you have a Greg's?

• 30:41Declan Donnelly?

  Oh, there's Greg's everywhere, isn't there?

• 30:43Ant McPartlin?

  Is there one in Shetland?

• 30:44Declan Donnelly?

  Bound to be.

• 30:45Ant McPartlin?

If there is, send us a picture.

• 30:46Speaker 06

As of late 2024, there are no Greg's in Shetland.

• 30:49Ant McPartlin?

  There's no Greg's in Shetland? I'm sorry, I can't go. I can't.

• 30:53Declan Donnelly?

  That's put paid to that.

• 30:54Ant McPartlin?

That's your fallback. If you don't like what they're cooking, maybe I can get a sausage roll. You can't do it.

• 30:59Speaker 06

Do you know how many Greg's there are in the UK?

• 31:01Declan Donnelly?

  Four hundred and seventy-two.

• 31:04Ant McPartlin?

  Six hundred and twenty.

• 31:05Speaker 06

  As of late 2025, over 2,600 Greg's.

• 31:09Ant McPartlin?

Two thousand six hundred Greg's? I tell you what, there's a TV show on that. Us visiting every Greg's in the UK. Isn't there? There is. There is. There's a YouTube show on that. We should do it on Belt of Box. Oh my God, Greg's every day.

• 31:24Declan Donnelly?

I still can't get my head around that the Greg's in Newcastle are the only places that sell stotties.

• 31:28Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 31:29Declan Donnelly?

Do you know what a stottie is? Stottie cake. Stottie bread.

• 31:32Ant McPartlin?

It's like a big bap that you can slice up and make sandwiches with. Or toast, very good for toast as well.

• 31:37Declan Donnelly?

I think we need to start a campaign for Greg's to roll out stottie cakes all over their 2,600 branches. Free the stottie!

• 31:48Ant McPartlin?

  Roll out the stottie!

• 31:50Declan Donnelly?

Let's get it trending. Show us your stottie. Whip out your stottie!

• 31:55Ant McPartlin?

Does your mum bring you stotties when she comes down from Newcastle?

• 31:58Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 31:58Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, same here.

• 31:59Declan Donnelly?

I've got some in the freezer.

• 32:00Ant McPartlin?

Got them in the freezer as well, yeah.

• 32:01Declan Donnelly?

Every now and again, I go, special occasion, I'm gonna defrost the stottie.

• 32:07Ant McPartlin?

It's wild in his house, I tell you, wild!

• 32:12Ant McPartlin?

Whoa, that was a good airplane that's come in there.

• 32:15Declan Donnelly?

  With breaking news.

• 32:16Ant McPartlin?

  It says.

• 32:17Declan Donnelly?

  What does it say?

• 32:18Ant McPartlin?

Oh, look in the drawers behind you. We've had some SAEs.

• 32:23Declan Donnelly?

  Oh.

• 32:25Ant McPartlin?

Come on, Deck, have a look.

• 32:26Declan Donnelly?

Got some stamped addressed envelopes here. One for Gemma, who's in Telford.

• 32:30Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 32:31Declan Donnelly?

She's sent us a letter, stamped addressed envelope. Hope you're both well and writing to beg you, please, to tell me how much Anne's pants cost.

• 32:37Ant McPartlin?

  Great.

• 32:37Declan Donnelly?

The amount of time I've spent thinking about it since you first discussed it on the podcast is getting out of hand.

• 32:42Ant McPartlin?

  Really?

• 32:42Declan Donnelly?

I'm worried for my mental health.

• 32:45Ant McPartlin?

I'm worried for your mental health. You shouldn't be thinking about me and my pants that much.

• 32:49Declan Donnelly?

I live in Shropshire, so there's very little chance of me bumping into Anne at his local butcher's.

• 32:53Ant McPartlin?

  Agreed.

• 32:53Declan Donnelly?

  Also, I'm vegetarian.

• 32:55Ant McPartlin?

Oh, well, there's very little chance.

• 32:56Declan Donnelly?

  It's never gonna happen.

• 32:57Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, very little chance.

• 32:57Declan Donnelly?

Please, please, please, can you find it within your heart to tell me, please?

• 33:01Ant McPartlin?

  Yes, I can.

• 33:02Declan Donnelly?

I've enclosed an SAE and a tear-off strip for you. Here she's got a strip.

• 33:06Ant McPartlin?

  Go on then.

• 33:07Declan Donnelly?

So at the bottom it says.

• 33:09Ant McPartlin?

  I should perforate it.

• 33:10Declan Donnelly?

No, but she, but she has done little lines.

• 33:12Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, okay, that's good.

• 33:13Declan Donnelly?

I've enclosed an SAE and a tear-off slip to complete to make it super easy. I literally don't know what more I can do. Respect, guys. Love, Gemma.

• 33:21Ant McPartlin?

  Gemma.

• 33:21Declan Donnelly?

So you've got a little slip there.

• 33:23Ant McPartlin?

Respect to you, I will write down.

• 33:24Declan Donnelly?

  We can confirm.

• 33:25Ant McPartlin?

We can confirm that Anthony McPartlin's pants cost. And I will write the figure in here without telling you. Oh, I should do the, uh, the exact figure. Shall I put jet skis on there as well?

• 33:38Declan Donnelly?

I've got to sign it as well.

• 33:39Ant McPartlin?

  You've got to sign it?

• 33:40Declan Donnelly?

She's left a little thing for me to sign.

• 33:41Ant McPartlin?

Sign for authenticity, yes, that's right. I'll sign it, you'll sign it here.

• 33:43Declan Donnelly?

  Witnessed by.

• 33:44Ant McPartlin?

Could you, uh, witness that, please, Declan?

• 33:46Declan Donnelly?

  Witnessing that.

• 33:48Ant McPartlin?

Okay. I mean, I could just send her a whole letter back.

• 33:51Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, you don't have to tear it.

• 33:52Ant McPartlin?

  What, let's?

• 33:55Ant McPartlin?

That'd make quite a good fish to that. How good was that?

• 33:57Declan Donnelly?

  That was very good.

• 33:58Ant McPartlin?

That was very good. Okay, let's pop it back in there as you read the other one.

• 34:01Declan Donnelly?

I am Deck, I know I'm breaking the pledge, sorry, but I live all the way in Wetherby, near Leeds.

• 34:06Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, yeah.

• 34:06Declan Donnelly?

I won't bump into you both, but I want to ask the million banana question. How much are Anne's pants? Respect, guys. Kayleigh Cavanagh. So I'll just, I'll just witness this in advance. Just save that.

• 34:17Ant McPartlin?

  Okay.

• 34:18Declan Donnelly?

  There you go.

• 34:19Ant McPartlin?

And I'll also sign it and put the figure above it. Shall I do jet skis on here as well? Okay. Okay, there we go. Pledge complete.

• 34:26Declan Donnelly?

Good, into the envelope they go.

• 34:28Ant McPartlin?

Into the envelope and we'll get them posted. Some minion will run to the postbox.

• 34:32Declan Donnelly?

  Are we now saying?

• 34:33Ant McPartlin?

  Ah, ooh.

• 34:33Declan Donnelly?

  Ooh, paper, paper cut.

• 34:35Ant McPartlin?

Paper cut, you suck. Come on, how's saying what?

• 34:36Declan Donnelly?

Are we now saying that if people from the UK then write to you with a standard dress envelope, you're gonna send them how much your pants were?

• 34:42Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, instead of get bored of it.

• 34:45Ant McPartlin?

And I'm not bored of it, I'm like into it.

• 34:47Declan Donnelly?

  Okay, right, he's into it.

• 34:48Ant McPartlin?

  So, get cracking.

• 34:50Declan Donnelly?

  Keep the comment in.

• 34:50Ant McPartlin?

If you wait a couple of weeks, no chance.

• 34:55Declan Donnelly?

This is an advert for Gemini, Google's personal AI assistant.

• 34:59Ant McPartlin?

  Uh, beating the butchers again?

• 35:00Declan Donnelly?

  Have you?

• 35:01Ant McPartlin?

Obs, and I wanna do something different.

• 35:03Declan Donnelly?

  You need some inspiration?

• 35:04Ant McPartlin?

I need some inspiration, so I thought we could ask Gemini.

• 35:07Declan Donnelly?

What would be really inspirational is to get something that you could do with meat.

• 35:10Ant McPartlin?

  Yes.

• 35:11Declan Donnelly?

But then combine your love of bananas.

• 35:13Ant McPartlin?

  Yes, yes, ask Gemini!

• 35:17Declan Donnelly?

All right. Gemini, can you give us some examples of dishes from around the world that combine meat and bananas?

• 35:24Ant McPartlin?

  Yes, yes, yes!

• 35:25Speaker 07

You can find meat and banana in various cuisines. The easiest one would probably be a simple Caribbean stew.

• 35:34Declan Donnelly?

  Mmm.

• 35:34Ant McPartlin?

  Caribbean stew, I like it.

• 35:36Declan Donnelly?

I like that. What other foods could you pair bananas with, Gemini?

• 35:38Speaker 07

Bananas pair quite well with warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. They also contrast nicely with tangy flavours like lime or orange. For something savoury, they can be a great addition to dishes with pork or chicken, balancing the richness.

• 35:57Ant McPartlin?

  Pork and banana?

• 35:58Declan Donnelly?

I would never have thought that.

• 35:59Ant McPartlin?

I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna do a pork and banana dish.

Some cracking tattoos last week. Yeah, we did. We really, well, one in particular I really liked. I'm hoping, hoping we've got some more this week. Let's have a look at this. Hi guys, absolutely loving Belt of Box, haven't laughed this much in ages. I think Ant should have the tattoo of the painting he did of Simon Cowell. Oh God, no. That's from Caroline. Oh God, no. That would be a great tattoo. You know it's him though, don't you? That was my best work. If you haven't seen that, if you're just listening, have a look at on Belt of Box, at our celebrity portrait when we paint Simon Cowell. Ant's one, he has a, you've got a real problem with skin tone, haven't you? What? He's always that, he's that colour he's painted the Barbados. Actually, he has, but he is that colour. Not having that? I'm not having that. Not having that. No, that's not going on. Not even making it.

• 38:15Declan Donnelly?

This one is from Nicole. Hi boys, love the podcast. I'm an illustrator and a tattoo artist. Sounds good. Tell me more. From up north. Tell me more, Nicole. And I hear you're looking for tattoo designs. I am, Nicole. I have created a flash sheet with some design ideas for you. Hope you enjoy. Oh, she has?

• 38:33Ant McPartlin?

  Look, there's loads.

• 38:34Declan Donnelly?

  Oh, I love this.

• 38:35Ant McPartlin?

So on the screen, there's loads and loads of ideas here. We've got Stay Fresh Cheese Bags down the bottom right hand corner. Respect, guys. We've got the Wonky Donkey in the store. That's good. We've got the picture of our hangout here as a postage stamp. That's really good.

• 38:50Declan Donnelly?

Got a Dex diary, some pants here with some price tag on it. I like this one in the bottom left hand corner. It's got a rhyme. Wonky Donkey.

• 38:57Ant McPartlin?

  What, your face?

• 38:58Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah, it's me.

• 38:59Ant McPartlin?

  Why just you?

• 39:00Declan Donnelly?

  I think that's cool.

• 39:01Speaker 04

  What's the middle bottom?

• 39:03Ant McPartlin?

What's the middle? Ah, Alien Autopsy.

• 39:04Declan Donnelly?

  Alien Autopsy?

• 39:05Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 39:06Declan Donnelly?

That was a scene that we did because this is what happened is they filmed the autopsy again, but one of the characters, Nans, kept coming in offering biscuits and ruining the takes by going, would you like a biscuit? And he's like, no, Nan, out of the way. We're doing an autopsy. It was very funny.

• 39:22Ant McPartlin?

Have you never seen the movie?

• 39:23Speaker 04

  No.

• 39:23Ant McPartlin?

Right, I'm gonna set you some homework, right? All three of you, or everybody here

• 39:28Declan Donnelly?

Yes, you sexy and you nice.

• 39:30Ant McPartlin?

Yes, sexy and nice too, have to watch Alien Autopsy by next week's show and give us a banana rating. Then we can give it a... Anybody else who'd like to watch it as well who hasn't seen it, watch Alien Autopsy, send us your banana rating, then we'll collate all the banana ratings and then we can have an official rating for Alien Autopsy.

• 39:48Declan Donnelly?

And don't just be needlessly cruel.

• 39:49Ant McPartlin?

  No, there's no need.

• 39:50Declan Donnelly?

  With your ratings.

• 39:51Ant McPartlin?

  There's no need.

• 39:51Declan Donnelly?

But yeah, if you're at home and you've got a bit of spare time.

• 39:54Ant McPartlin?

Join in. This could be the first thing that we, that we review together.

• 39:57Declan Donnelly?

Okay. Yeah, if you're at home, if you've got a bit of spare time, watch Alien Autopsy and send us your banana rating. Drop it in the comments or send it to us, [email protected] and we'll do an average banana rating for...

• 40:09Ant McPartlin?

An average movie. Sorry, sorry. I shouldn't influence your rating. We might have a spin off podcast. Just where it's a TV and film review podcast. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's get back to, let's get back to tattoos. So Nicole, you've got some very good ideas here. I particularly like Wonky Donkey in the store.

• 40:28Declan Donnelly?

  That's good.

• 40:28Ant McPartlin?

That's a really cool one. Stay Fresh Cheese Bags, I always said I would get that, didn't I? So that's gotta be on there somewhere.

• 40:35Declan Donnelly?

That is a cool little design as well.

• 40:37Ant McPartlin?

And I do like the pizza in a pizza box with Saturday for Saturday night takeaway because that was a very big part of my life. Over 20 years of my life, we did do that show, so.

• 40:46Declan Donnelly?

I have to say, I really like the...

• 40:48Ant McPartlin?

  Respect, guys.

• 40:49Declan Donnelly?

Respect, guys with the little fingers, the little two little...

• 40:52Ant McPartlin?

  Peace sign fingers.

• 40:53Declan Donnelly?

  Peace sign fingers. Respect, guys.

• 40:55Ant McPartlin?

  Okay.

• 40:55Declan Donnelly?

  Well done, Nicole.

• 40:56Ant McPartlin?

  Well done, Nicole.

• 40:56Declan Donnelly?

We're big fans of your work. We love it.

• 40:59Ant McPartlin?

  Shall I get the cutouts?

• 41:00Declan Donnelly?

  Get the cutout.

• 41:00Ant McPartlin?

  Okay, let's get the cutout.

• 41:01Declan Donnelly?

  Bring in the body.

• 41:02Ant McPartlin?

Oh, thank you, thank you. You've got my actual body this time. Thanks very much. You stripped me of my suit. Those aren't the pants though. Those are my swimming shorts.

• 41:15Declan Donnelly?

  I've got Caroline Simon Cowell.

• 41:17Ant McPartlin?

What are we thinking? No, I'm not thinking anywhere. Is that not happening? Put right down on the legs. That's further down there.

• 41:22Declan Donnelly?

  Of what?

• 41:22Ant McPartlin?

  Because I don't think it's gonna make-

• 41:23Declan Donnelly?

  On the calf?

• 41:24Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, on the calf. That's as high as he can ever go. Simon Cowell, never above the knee.

• 41:31Declan Donnelly?

And I've got the whole sheet.

• 41:32Ant McPartlin?

Well, you've got, mm. I was hoping that we could cut them out and put them in different places. But I tell you what, because I like them, let's put it on this left peck. Put it on the left peck deck.

• 41:42Declan Donnelly?

  Righto, lad.

• 41:43Ant McPartlin?

At the minute, Nicole, you are, um, I think you could be winning. It's you in the boomerang.

• 41:49Declan Donnelly?

Keep them coming in. Any more tattoo ideas hanging out at BeltTheBox.com? And who knows, you might get them all.

• 41:54Ant McPartlin?

Let me get rid of the body. I'll bring this down, you get the postbag.

• 41:57Declan Donnelly?

You get rid of the body.

• 42:01Ant McPartlin?

Oh, I nearly went then. I nearly went. I nearly went. I really struggle with sitting down in chairs.

• 42:09Declan Donnelly?

Struggling with chairs. Let me get the postbag.

• 42:10Ant McPartlin?

  Get the postbag.

• 42:11Declan Donnelly?

Got lots of letters this week to get through.

• 42:13Ant McPartlin?

  Okay.

• 42:14Declan Donnelly?

So let's dive in to the postbag.

• 42:16Ant McPartlin?

  These chicks are everywhere.

• 42:17Declan Donnelly?

  Everywhere.

• 42:17Ant McPartlin?

Look, there's chicks everywhere. Hello, baby. Hello, baby. Hello, baby. Start, start.

• 42:22Declan Donnelly?

  Aye, we aye.

• 42:24Ant McPartlin?

This one says, all right, lads?

• 42:26Declan Donnelly?

  All right.

• 42:26Ant McPartlin?

All right? Over the years, you've done loads with the Princess Trust and I want to know what your mate, King Charlie's like. Were you nervous when you met him for the first time? And what do you talk about when you see him? Respect, guys. Rob in Bridge End, Northumberland.

• 42:41Declan Donnelly?

We first met him about, well, it was 25 years ago.

• 42:45Ant McPartlin?

  It was?

• 42:45Declan Donnelly?

When we interviewed him for 25 years at the Princess Trust and we went to High Grove House, um, to meet him and interview him in the garden. And we were really, really super duper nervous. And he was really relaxed and put us at REs.

• 42:59Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 43:00Declan Donnelly?

And he called us in first, didn't he? He said, I want to meet you.

• 43:02Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 43:03Declan Donnelly?

Off camera first, so we get to know each other a little bit before the cameras start rolling. So we went in and sit in this room and he comes in and he shook our hands and we sit down. And then they're bringing this massive tray with a big teapot, teacups on it, biscuits and stuff. And we sit there and he's talking to us and saying, you know, thank you for coming and doing all this. Sitting there and going. Who's gonna pour the tea? Like, he's not gonna do it. And do, do we do it? Are we supposed to do this? Like, should one of us just dive in and go, let me do that?

• 43:35Ant McPartlin?

Or is that breaking royal, royal protocol? Should you always let, you know?

• 43:39Declan Donnelly?

And I was really distracted because I was like, who's gonna deal with the tea? Has this been left for us to do? Because he's not gonna do it. He's, at the time, he was Prince Charles. He was, he's gonna be the next king. So have we got to do this? And I was really distracted through the whole thing. I kind of wasn't listening to what he was saying because I was too worried about, do we have to pour the tea? And obviously they're letting it stew for a bit and then a footman comes in.

• 44:05Ant McPartlin?

It wasn't stewed as much as you were. Who's gonna pour this tea?

• 44:09Declan Donnelly?

I was really worried about the thing. Then eventually somebody came in, got the cups out and started pouring the tea. Oh, that was a relief.

• 44:16Speaker 06

  Was it good tea?

• 44:17Ant McPartlin?

Very good tea. Good tea, good biscuits, high growth biscuits.

• 44:21Declan Donnelly?

  Shortbread.

• 44:21Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, yeah.

• 44:22Declan Donnelly?

Really shortbread. No Jaffa cakes, no.

• 44:24Ant McPartlin?

No Jaffa cakes. No ginger snaps.

• 44:27Declan Donnelly?

And then we went out into the garden and interviewed him in the garden. And he was the loveliest, loveliest man.

• 44:32Ant McPartlin?

And since then, we've interviewed him quite a few times. And we, uh, he, we followed him around for forty years of the Princess Trust, which we did ten years ago, uh, where we spent a kind of a year of his life, where we, every now, every couple of months, we'd meet up with him at a different event. We'd pop up and we'd follow him and we ended up staying at his castle in Scotland, uh, where we, uh, stayed for the night, which was amazing. Do you remember we went to the restaurant? Everybody always offers him food.

• 45:01Declan Donnelly?

  Everywhere he goes.

• 45:01Ant McPartlin?

Everywhere we went, people are offering him food or snacks or something and he never eats it. And I said to her, I said, why don't you, why don't you eat it? It looked really tasty. He said, if I ate everything that was offered to me, he says, I'd be huge. He says, I said, well, I'll eat it. So everywhere we went, I ate it instead of him. And then he said to me at one point, he went, I'm gonna get you a spoon made.

• 45:22Declan Donnelly?

  To hang round your neck.

• 45:23Ant McPartlin?

To hang round your neck like my official taster.

• 45:27Declan Donnelly?

You could be the royal taster.

• 45:29Ant McPartlin?

  I'd love that.

• 45:30Declan Donnelly?

I get you a spoon made for around your neck.

• 45:32Ant McPartlin?

I never did get the spoon, did I?

• 45:33Declan Donnelly?

  Didn't get the spoon.

• 45:33Ant McPartlin?

I would genuinely love to be his royal taster. But we, we love the Princess Trust, uh, which is now the King's Trust. So much that we've got our own course with the Princess Trust, the King's Trust now are making it a media course. Where we get, uh, people into TV, media, and we've done that for the last.

• 45:50Declan Donnelly?

  Five, six years?

• 45:51Ant McPartlin?

  Five, six years now.

• 45:51Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 45:52Ant McPartlin?

Uh, we've helped lots, lots of young people get into telly and the media and it's great. We really believe in what the, what they do. We really believe in the trust.

• 46:02Declan Donnelly?

  What they stand for.

• 46:03Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, what they stand for. It's wonderful.

• 46:05Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, it's brilliant. And he's really passionate about it as well.

• 46:07Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 46:07Declan Donnelly?

He's still passionate about it 50 years on. He started it with his, um, pension cheque from the Navy. I think he got like three thousand pounds.

• 46:14Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 46:14Declan Donnelly?

And he put that into starting up this trust. And 50 years later, it's helped over a million young people get into education or employment or training. So it's still an amazing job and he's still as passionate about it today as he was 50 years ago.

• 46:26Ant McPartlin?

And every year for the last, I think we've hosted it now for 12 years. They celebrate success awards, which is an annual event where, uh, people who have been through the Princess Trust, now the King's Trust, uh, get celebrated and people win awards. So we, we celebrate, we host that every year. We're hosting it again this year.

• 46:43Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 46:43Ant McPartlin?

It's at the Royal Albert Hall this year for the 50th anniversary.

• 46:47Declan Donnelly?

It's gonna be a big old concert.

• 46:48Ant McPartlin?

  Good one.

• 46:49Speaker 05

Do you remember like the coronation?

• 46:51Ant McPartlin?

Oh God, yes, I do remember the coronation. Right, there was a really weird shot of me at the coronation.

• 46:59Declan Donnelly?

  I don't think I've seen that.

• 47:02Declan Donnelly?

Anyway, it kind of went viral.

• 47:04Ant McPartlin?

  Doing this.

• 47:05Declan Donnelly?

  It kind of went.

• 47:05Ant McPartlin?

  Something like that.

• 47:06Declan Donnelly?

  It went viral, didn't it?

• 47:07Ant McPartlin?

Oh, it was all on TikTok.

• 47:08Declan Donnelly?

There was, there was a shot of us at the coronation waiting for it all to start. And yeah, and you were kind of twitching a bit, pulling, pulling a face.

• 47:15Ant McPartlin?

I was ADHD in a way.

• 47:17Declan Donnelly?

  What was, what was that?

• 47:18Ant McPartlin?

I don't know. I've got no idea. I don't know what the face was, I don't know what I was thinking about. I don't know what, whether I was pretending to be one of the gogos on the, on the, on the front of Westminster Abbey. Or I was just thinking about something, smiling. But I was so much, it, it was everywhere and I kept seeing it on TikTok and Instagram. People kept sending it to us as if I really wanted to see it again. And I was boarding a flight up to Newcastle and the air stewardess was like. He says, how did you feel when your TikTok blew up? And I thought you meant something that we'd done together.

• 47:49Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 47:49Ant McPartlin?

And I was like, oh, which one's that? Which funny one's that? I write in your face at the coronation. Yeah, thanks. Thanks for bringing that up. So to answer your question, I've no idea why I pulled that face. Next question.

• 48:00Declan Donnelly?

Next question. Got one from M.

• 48:04Ant McPartlin?

  Hi, M.

• 48:04Declan Donnelly?

She says, dearest Anton Deck, dearest.

• 48:06Ant McPartlin?

  Dearest, oh, very formal.

• 48:08Declan Donnelly?

It's very nice. Do you ever look at things without a face and see a face? For instance, seeing Jesus in your toast or a face in a cloud?

• 48:15Ant McPartlin?

  Yes.

• 48:15Declan Donnelly?

You know, that kind of thing.

• 48:16Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, I do.

• 48:17Declan Donnelly?

Imagine my surprise when a picture of our nine-month-old woofer stretching after her evening stroll was taken and sent to our family WhatsApp. I saw it immediately and felt the need to share it with you. Please tell me I'm not going mad. This is definitely Ant's face, right?

• 48:31Ant McPartlin?

  What? What? It's a dog's.

• 48:37Ant McPartlin?

My face is not a dog's.

• 48:40Ant McPartlin?

Where is my face? It's a dog's bumhole. My face, my face is not a dog's bumhole.

• 48:47Ant McPartlin?

No, you can't see my face in a dog's bumhole. No, you're still telling your head and squirm. Shut up. All of you, shut up.

• 48:54Speaker 05

  There's his eye.

• 48:55Ant McPartlin?

I can see, I can see Chewbacca.

• 48:58Speaker 05

  I actually do see it.

• 48:59Ant McPartlin?

No, you don't. What do you mean you see it? You're all a bunch of.

• 49:04Speaker 05

  Oh, from over here, yeah.

• 49:05Ant McPartlin?

  What are you talking about?

• 49:06Speaker 05

  That sounds canny.

• 49:08Ant McPartlin?

  Shut up.

• 49:14Ant McPartlin?

Give me that. Give me that, man. I, I put this in especially for letters like this.

• 49:20Declan Donnelly?

  Just in case.

• 49:22Ant McPartlin?

Oh, I missed, I missed the basket as well.

• 49:24Declan Donnelly?

She does go on to say.

• 49:25Ant McPartlin?

  I don't care, I don't care, I don't care what she's called. I don't care. I don't care what she's called.

• 49:31Declan Donnelly?

She does go on to say, I hope this is received in the manner it was meant.

• 49:36Ant McPartlin?

Well, how was it meant? Offensive? Offen, yeah?

• 49:39Declan Donnelly?

No, it was from M. Thank you, M.

• 49:42Ant McPartlin?

No, thank you, M. Never again.

• 49:44Declan Donnelly?

Got one from Katie Gibson. She says, "Dear Ant and Dec, I'm writing following on from the two ice sculptures to share a picture of these two kangaroos named Ant and Dec at my local farm, only with a slight twist. At high farm near Bishop Auckland, when their wallabies first arrived, they called them Ant and Dec because we thought they were both bouncy little jody blokes. Then one day, a tiny joy popped its head out of a pouch, so Ant and Dec quickly became Anthea and Declan."

• 50:12Ant McPartlin?

Ah, let me see. Ah, Anthea and Declan.

• 50:17Declan Donnelly?

  Oh, they're cute.

• 50:19Ant McPartlin?

And one tan's better than the other one. It is very similar to Ant and Dec.

• 50:26Ant McPartlin?

It is, it's awesome wallaby form. I like it. That's a nice wholesome letter, that.

• 50:30Declan Donnelly?

  That is lovely.

• 50:31Ant McPartlin?

And we didn't spin them round and look at their bum holes.

• 50:33Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, let's have a look. Now let's have a look at their arses.

• 50:36Ant McPartlin?

And that, as they say, is that. That is. If you've got time for it, put your specs away.

• 50:42Declan Donnelly?

Have a brilliant Easter weekend. Enjoy yourselves.

• 50:45Ant McPartlin?

It's a long one. Bank holidays and all that.

• 50:47Declan Donnelly?

  Yes.

• 50:48Ant McPartlin?

Loads of time to watch Alien Autopsy.

• 50:49Declan Donnelly?

Get those eggs in the fridge. Get your eggs in the fridge. Um, yeah, catch Alien Autopsy if you can. Let us know. Give us a banana rating or eggs.

• 50:57Ant McPartlin?

  No, bananas. Banana Club.

• 50:59Declan Donnelly?

And we will be back on Monday. We've got, we've got an episode on the bank holiday, an exciting episode.

• 51:05Ant McPartlin?

  Very exciting.

• 51:05Declan Donnelly?

Lined up for you on Monday. But have a great time.

• 51:08Ant McPartlin?

  Happy Easter.

• 51:09Declan Donnelly?

  Respect, guys.

• 51:10Ant McPartlin?

  Respect, guys.

• 51:10Declan Donnelly?

  See ya.

• 51:10Ant McPartlin?

  Bye, guys.
