Hey, can you come pick me up? Yeah, what's wrong? Nothing. Are you sure? Yeah, no, I just need a ride. Ride, ride. Oh, my God. So, I just wanna have fun. Start your engines. I care.

• 0:30Benito Skinner?

  I'm Benito Skinner.

• 0:31Mary Beth Barone?

  I'm Mary Beth Brown.

• 0:33Benito Skinner?

  And this?

• 0:33Mary Beth Barone?

  Is?

• 0:34Benito Skinner?

  Ride.

• 0:38Benito Skinner?

  Peg the patriarchy. Ha, ha.

• 0:42Benito Skinner?

Oh, my God, I'm back with my main girl. Feet up at What the Fuck Media.

• 0:47Mary Beth Barone?

I'm also not wearing shoes. I'm so happy that we're finally gonna unpack Peg the patriarchy. I think it was one of the internet's biggest challenges was understanding how to process Peg the patriarchy.

• 0:58Benito Skinner?

You know what's funny? We don't have to if you don't want to.

• 1:01Mary Beth Barone?

  No, I kinda do.

• 1:02Benito Skinner?

I only said it just to like, kinda say hi. That's how you say hi.

• 1:06Mary Beth Barone?

  Hi.

• 1:06Benito Skinner?

Mariska Hargitay, Mariska Hargitay. You say Peg the patriarchy every day on set. That's how we started it.

• 1:13Mary Beth Barone?

  That's how we started it.

• 1:14Benito Skinner?

  Pause up.

• 1:14Mary Beth Barone?

With a group chant. So Peg the patriarchy, of course, was on Cara Delevingne's outfit for the Met Ball a few years ago. And so at first, when it hit the internet, people were like, hell, yeah, this is like so powerful. Peg the patriarchy, fight song. And then they were like, wait, why is pegging? Why is like anal penetration a negative thing? Like, is that the message you wanna be sending? So then everybody sort of turned on the message. Then we found out that the message was was actually originated by a queer woman of color. So people had already turned their backs on the message. And then they found that out and they were like, shit, maybe we need to support it now. Then it came out that they actually didn't ask that person for permission to use it. There were so many twists in that story. I don't know where we landed. I don't know if we're pro or anti.

• 1:57Benito Skinner?

Here's the thing, I wish it was when it was the camp. Met Galassium because it would have made more sense to me then. It would have opened up the dialogue more. I think this was just kind of like a chill year, honestly. We got Peg the Patriarchy, which I do love in a lot of ways. I love that it's just like bottom, you know what I mean? And we're kind of like, you're so pathetic, bottom. To me, I will say, I find it to be kind of like, what? I don't know, like, I think there's-

• 2:24Mary Beth Barone?

Well, it kind of doesn't make sense.

• 2:25Benito Skinner?

Yeah, the whole top and bottom discourse. Who takes it? Who gives it? I just find to be like, you know what? I think we can all be adults. Reverse, grow up. I'm not new to this, darling. I'm true to this.

• 2:37Mary Beth Barone?

That's become a huge theme for the season, actually.

• 2:39Benito Skinner?

I love, oh, God, I can't stop the, just doing a tuck and walking into the living room when Terry's there and I'll do anything. It's just like, I'm free.

• 2:51Benito Skinner?

I'm that guy in Hunchback of Notre Dame. I'm free, I'm free. I think about him a lot. Do you know who I'm talking about?

• 2:58Mary Beth Barone?

  No.

• 2:59Benito Skinner?

There's like a man who's arrested in Hunchback of Notre Dame. The most like dark and twisted Disney film. That's why we're sick, by the way.

• 3:08Mary Beth Barone?

  I know.

• 3:09Benito Skinner?

He's in one of those like wooden things that like has your head in it and your hands. Like he's imprisoned.

• 3:15Mary Beth Barone?

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 3:16Benito Skinner?

Some latch comes undone because Esmeralda is just like having the time of her life. She's the best. And it swings open and he goes, I'm free, I'm free. And then he immediately like falls into a cage. To talk about Peg the Patriarchy and that.

• 3:32Mary Beth Barone?

We're feeling the political climate, I'd say.

• 3:35Benito Skinner?

  The range, darling.

• 3:36Mary Beth Barone?

We're feeling it. We're feeling it and all those things are connected, so. I did want to tell the story. I have a friend that went on a date with a guy, which, as you know, you rode for in the holidays, Spooktacular.

• 3:47Benito Skinner?

  Yes.

• 3:48Mary Beth Barone?

So she got to the date and they had a table and he was like, I just want to keep an eye on the bar to see if any bar seats open up. I love sitting at the bar. And she was like, okay, like we have like a nice table, but sure. So then he, he springs out of his seat because he sees two people getting up from the bar. They have to move seats and go sit there. And then as soon as he sits down, he says to the bartender, like, this beer is so good. I'm so glad I got this Pilsner and not the other one that's on the menu. And the bartender was like, there's only one Pilsner on the menu. And he was like, no, there's not, there's two. And he goes, there's one. And then the date goes, let me see the menu. He goes through the menu with a fine-tooth comb. There is a Stella on the menu, which is technically a Pilsner.

• 4:32Mary Beth Barone?

It's so crazy that my friend, I'm picturing her sitting through that and having to just like make small talk.

• 4:37Benito Skinner?

And he's probably so angry she didn't have sex with him. And it's like, who would? I can't even, there's not one aspect of that that I like. Like also sitting at the bar.

• 4:45Mary Beth Barone?

  Don't fight with the bartender.

• 4:46Benito Skinner?

If you have to sit at the bar, it feels so weird because it's like, well, now the bartender's a part of this date night. Like this is our third.

• 4:53Mary Beth Barone?

  Audience, yeah.

• 4:54Benito Skinner?

Yeah, there's an audience for all of it. I don't know, I feel like a swinger. I'm like, it's weird. I feel like we're cheating on each other by sitting at the bar.

• 5:02Mary Beth Barone?

But then also you're gonna, you're gonna alienate the bartender by like challenging them on what's on the menu. That's just like, oh.

• 5:08Benito Skinner?

Totally, they're our ally right now. They're a part of, they're our guest. At that point, like the bartender is the guest on your date. Treat them with respect.

• 5:15Mary Beth Barone?

I told Ori she should do the hand signal for like, I'm not okay.

• 5:17Benito Skinner?

  A hundred percent.

• 5:19Mary Beth Barone?

  Please save me.

• 5:20Benito Skinner?

  God.

• 5:21Mary Beth Barone?

I am on tour. I do want to plug the chores since I always forget. Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Austin, Nashville, Burlington and Portland. See you soon.

• 5:28Benito Skinner?

And you heard that right, Berlin and Burlington.

• 5:32Mary Beth Barone?

Burlington, Vermont. I can't wait to go to the airport and put on a road peptizing lip gloss in your honor, babe.

• 5:37Benito Skinner?

Can you please like do a full video? I mean, you won't be the first woman, let's just say that. But I was the first man.

• 5:42Mary Beth Barone?

I just want to carry on the tradition.

• 5:44Benito Skinner?

Actually, I believe someone else said that they had done it before me, which I'm like, then send proof. I, there's nothing, you know.

• 5:50Mary Beth Barone?

  That's kind of weird.

• 5:51Benito Skinner?

Yeah, I agree. I'm like, I need to see it. I need to see it. That's something I need to see. Come on.

• 5:56Mary Beth Barone?

I need to see, show me the receipts.

• 5:58Benito Skinner?

Wait, there was something else I was gonna tell you. Peg the patriarchy, of course.

• 6:03Mary Beth Barone?

Was it, we got more bounce in California than all yours combined? Because it's on the notes.

• 6:07Benito Skinner?

So it's interesting that, that you bring that up because that is what I was gonna say. We got more bounce in California than all yours combined. I know exactly when that song plays in the OC. When they go into LA and Marissa wears a green top. It's like, I.

• 6:23Mary Beth Barone?

Is that the Paris Hilton episode? When she says selfies are the new autographs?

• 6:28Benito Skinner?

That might've been a different one. Is that the LA one? I thought she goes to a house party then.

• 6:33Mary Beth Barone?

In the green tube top with the bow on it.

• 6:35Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 6:35Mary Beth Barone?

  And she has bangs.

• 6:36Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 6:37Mary Beth Barone?

I think that might be the Paris Hilton one. Well, oh, you know what's so weird that we never talked about?

• 6:41Benito Skinner?

  What?

• 6:42Mary Beth Barone?

The mall episode of the O C was season two, episode 15. And then the episode that we rode for malls was season two, episode 15. Isn't that kind of spooky? We didn't plan that. It was just one of those weird things.

• 6:53Benito Skinner?

So you want to lie to them and say we didn't plan that?

• 6:56Mary Beth Barone?

  We didn't plan that.

• 6:57Benito Skinner?

  Okay, Kat.

• 7:00Benito Skinner?

I'm telling you, this is what J K did. Fuck you, J K. She like, she lied at the end. She didn't know how it'd end. She was vibing on each time. Finally, now we can be critical. Or to the phoenix. Bad, boring, so long, hated.

• 7:13Mary Beth Barone?

Here's my thing, and I'm really glad I don't have any childhood attachment to Harry Potter. I didn't finish the third book and I just stopped reading. I don't know why. I just thought this isn't for me.

• 7:23Benito Skinner?

  Hey, and that's funny.

• 7:24Mary Beth Barone?

  It's just not for me.

• 7:24Benito Skinner?

  Unfortunately, I loved it all.

• 7:26Mary Beth Barone?

I know, and I feel really bad for people that are so attached to it because I understand, like, for me, I was just into more like Mary Kate and Ashley. But I feel terrible. She needs to go. She needs to go.

• 7:36Benito Skinner?

It was one or the other. Mary Kate and Ashley or Harry Potter. Choose.

• 7:40Mary Beth Barone?

More legends need to die before they can ruin their legacy. Do you get that?

• 7:45Benito Skinner?

I've never wanted something clipped more in my life. I, all of our heroes fading.

• 7:50Mary Beth Barone?

I worry for what this year will bring. That's where I'm at.

• 7:54Benito Skinner?

Well, do you remember last year brought me not knowing what Mount Rushmore was for a second? I thought they were talking about Everest in a video interview, and I've never seen that video. And I, I know it exists out there and it will be posted at some point.

• 8:06Mary Beth Barone?

Because they said, what's your Mount Rushmore of blank?

• 8:08Benito Skinner?

No, it's gonna be posted when I die. I told Terry recently I was gonna die at 34 and we both sat at the table silently because it felt true. Isn't that weird?

• 8:15Mary Beth Barone?

  No, don't say that.

• 8:16Benito Skinner?

  No, I know.

• 8:17Mary Beth Barone?

Should we get into what you're hiding for?

• 8:19Benito Skinner?

Yes. So, speaking of Hut Hut, this is a carpool and this is like, we've been waiting for this.

• 8:25Mary Beth Barone?

And we've done a lot of carpools this season. I think just because we're so like, we're aligned on a lot of things.

• 8:31Benito Skinner?

Yeah, no, totally. We're politically aligned. We're

• 8:33Mary Beth Barone?

We're politically aligned. We're socially aligned.

• 8:36Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 8:36Mary Beth Barone?

  We're aligned with work.

• 8:38Benito Skinner?

I haven't seen you in so long, like in the flesh. Like, I can't hold those bones. I can't feel how cold you are, and that's what sucks.

• 8:45Mary Beth Barone?

How cold and how sore my bones are. You couldn't even imagine it.

• 8:49Benito Skinner?

Whoa, speaking of sore, JR has been working my ass lately. Oh, my God. You can't imagine.

• 8:53Mary Beth Barone?

  I do miss him.

• 8:54Benito Skinner?

These hips, I'm like, frickin', oh, my God.

• 8:57Mary Beth Barone?

I've been doing so much Pilates, and a lot of people question, like, why Pilates is so popular. It's literally working out while you lay down. What aren't you getting?

• 9:06Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 9:07Mary Beth Barone?

  It's incredible.

• 9:07Benito Skinner?

It's interesting to me, though. Are they turning up the heat in there? Because I always thought, like, SoulCycle and those things were just heat-based. Because, like, people like to see sweat because they think that means they're working out really hard. But I feel like Pilates is like, it's just like tight and moments of like, deep pain. Like, my mom is an instructor now, and like, oh, my God, she put me through a class over Christmas. I woke up the next morning, and I was like, I can't feel my legs.

• 9:30Mary Beth Barone?

  We're not fucking around.

• 9:31Benito Skinner?

  You're a sick bitch.

• 9:33Mary Beth Barone?

We're not fucking around. So this week, we will be doing a carpool for having a uniform.

• 9:42Mary Beth Barone?

BSA for anyone who rents. If you haven't heard of Built, you're about to thank me. Earning points on rent is now a reality when you can pay your rent through Built. You don't even have to check with your landlord to start earning points that you can use towards flights, hotel stays, fitness classes, and even your next rent payment. Let me break it down for you.

• 10:01Benito Skinner?

If you're a renter, I'd start taking advantage of Built if I were you. That's a threat. Here's the thing. We earn points on groceries, travel, and practically everything else we buy. But we should also be earning points on rent, one of our biggest monthly expenses. Built changed the game by letting Renters earn high value points on rent and around their neighborhood.

• 10:19Mary Beth Barone?

So here's the thing, if we're going to be renting for the rest of our lives, which let's face it, we are.

• 10:23Benito Skinner?

  We are.

• 10:24Mary Beth Barone?

We should be earning points on these payments. There is no cost to join Bilt. And as a member, you'll earn valuable points on rent and on your everyday spending. Bilt points can be transferred to your favorite hotels and airlines. And even the ones that you haven't heard of, there are so many airlines, over 500 and 700,000 hotels and properties around the world, or you can redeem your Bilt points towards them.

• 10:45Benito Skinner?

Points can also be redeemed towards a future rent payment and unique experiences that only Bilt members can access.

• 10:51Mary Beth Barone?

So if you're not earning points on rent, I guess my question and Benny's question would be, why not?

• 10:56Benito Skinner?

  Why not?

  Article.

• 12:57Mary Beth Barone?

I guess here's the time in the episode where I ask Benny, how are you doing with your resolutions slash goals that you set for yourself in January?

• 13:04Benito Skinner?

Well, they're gonna start in February.

• 13:06Mary Beth Barone?

Why is AG1 a habit you've been able to stick with? Because of how easy it is to take daily or because of the benefits that you notice?

• 13:12Benito Skinner?

Well, here's my thing. I love drinking a beverage. But if that beverage also includes all my daily vitamins, minerals, sexiness, like, I'm in, okay?

• 13:21Mary Beth Barone?

  And whole body health.

• 13:21Benito Skinner?

I'm in to win it. Yeah, I'm not new to this. I'm what?

• 13:24Mary Beth Barone?

True to this. What you might not know is that Valentine's Day isn't just about showing love to others. It's about self-love, too. And you can show your self-love by starting every day with AG1. It's an act of self-care. And you did it with self-care.

• 13:39Benito Skinner?

And you did it with self-care. And you did it at my birthday. You come down the stairs on Valentine's Day, you chug an AG1. Happy Valentine's Day.

• 13:48Mary Beth Barone?

If it fits your style, which it does, I am going to mention how AG1 makes a thoughtful gift for someone looking to prioritize their health.

• 13:56Benito Skinner?

I think this could be great. You give them some DK32. Like, that's fire.

• 14:01Mary Beth Barone?

It's thoughtful. It's never too late to create a new healthy habit for 2025. So try AG1 for yourself. It's something that we've actually been able to stay consistent with. And that's why we've been partnering with AG1 for so long. You know, I'm all over the globe this year. I'm touring. And I'm bringing the AG1 travel packs and a little AG1 bottle everywhere with me that I go.

• 14:20Benito Skinner?

That's drinkag1.com/ridepod to start your new year on a healthier note.

• 14:39Benito Skinner?

  Happy Valentine's Day, baby.

• 14:43Benito Skinner?

Get in, bitch. It's a carpool.

• 14:45Mary Beth Barone?

  Okay, but I'm driving. Carpool.

• 14:48Benito Skinner?

The clock strikes seven AM. Get out of bed. You don't have to think for a second. You put on your J. Crew chinos. Put on a white polo with a crew neck over, embroidered logo for your Catholic school on the little crest. And then you put on a wild sneaker that tells everyone who you are and where your heart lies, your true rebel self. And maybe you put on a couple of rubber bracelets and you hit the freaking town. And you put on a fragrance, if you're me. You put on Chase. And you, you just rip it. And like, yeah, you think maybe you'll be dressed like everyone else, but you get to have a little flair. Coat choice.

• 15:33Benito Skinner?

Your coat and your shoes. They'll tell people who you are. Just having the, the space to like, choose those little things. Like, I think it really taught me how to accessorize.

• 15:41Mary Beth Barone?

It sounds like your school was pretty liberal with the accessories that you were allowed to wear.

• 15:46Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 15:46Mary Beth Barone?

At Greenwich Catholic School, you had to wear black leather shoes. You couldn't really wear jewelry. You could wear like an earring or a necklace. Knee high, knee high boots.

• 15:54Benito Skinner?

  Stuart Weitzman.

• 15:55Mary Beth Barone?

Stuart Weitzman heels over the knee boots.

• 15:58Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 15:59Mary Beth Barone?

We couldn't really express ourselves much. And of course, I got sent to the principal's office for my uniform a couple of times.

• 16:05Benito Skinner?

  Oh, yeah.

• 16:06Mary Beth Barone?

Which I felt was a discriminatory practice against me because I was just, I was wearing, we had to wear navy blue corduroys. So I got mine from Delia's because they were like a cuter shape. They were a bell bottom.

• 16:15Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 16:15Mary Beth Barone?

And because they had rivets on the pockets, that was like against the uniform. So they sent me to the principal. I had to wear a jumper from the lost and found for the rest of the day. My mom just cut the rivets off. So they couldn't yell at me again. She took a plier or whatever and she's just cut them off.

• 16:32Benito Skinner?

She put on her steel mask.

• 16:34Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah. And she put on her welding mask.

• 16:36Benito Skinner?

She put on her welding mask. And she got rid of the rivets. Sorry, my sister was bad girl when it came to pants. Yeah, she definitely had Delia's. Like, she always got in trouble for the back pockets. And yeah, my mom finally was like, why are you looking so much?

• 16:49Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, like they want, because they want to get people in trouble and scare them and like exert their power. But we did have dress down day, which was the first Friday of every month where you got to wear whatever you wanted. And so I, you had to pay a dollar too, which they would like put towards charity. Although now I'm like, they probably just put it towards like keeping priests out of jail.

• 17:08Benito Skinner?

  Yeah, the church.

• 17:10Mary Beth Barone?

For what they were doing. But having a uniform when I was younger felt so limiting to me and I felt like my creativity is being stifled. Then I went to public high school, you know, college, we got to wear whatever. But I would say as an adult, I'm really finding my love for a uniform again. So this summer, as you remember, I had my actress uniform, which was a pair of sweatpants and a matching tube top. So it was monochromatic and sometimes a button down shirt if I get a little cold or a little juicy zip up. But I just knew that I could wake up and I wasn't thinking about what I was putting on. Cause I like to put effort into outfits when I'm like going to do something or if there's like a dinner or it's an event or something like that. But I find that my brain space is just, it's not best spent on like picking an outfit for what I'm going to wear to the doctor.

• 17:53Mary Beth Barone?

You know, like my gynecologist doesn't care what, what top I have on. So I've now added sweatshirts so I can layer onto the sweatpants and the tube top. But for me, I bought four tube tops from Free People and I have some ALO sweats. I have some Hollywood Gift sweats. I just ordered some Reformation sweats. I'm mixing and matching. I'm having a damn blast.

• 18:14Benito Skinner?

Yeah, have a great time with it. I loved your actress uniform. It felt very like Gossip Girl, like, oh, do you remember on set, sometimes where we get to wear parkas? I was like, sorry, tell me I'm not late in measter right now.

• 18:25Mary Beth Barone?

No, tell me I'm not bleak, lively, wearing sweatpants under my gown that's going to make it in the shot.

• 18:30Benito Skinner?

Literally, oh, I hope it, and you know what? It made it in the cut. Here's the thing, yeah, lately, I, I think that's why I love light denim. Like I love something that feels uniform and it's like me. And this summer was actually great for me because I found that if I limited my closet, I liked picking outfits. If there weren't too many combos, but I, I think because of the uniforms, I've always liked that like, this is the structure that works on me and that I like. So I feel like I, I dip less into trends, which I think is helpful for. Personal style, but here's the thing, I give you my elementary school uniform, but then there were these feeder Catholic schools into the Catholic high school. And in high school, it was like, you could wear any pant except jeans, which I love that jeans are like vilified or something. They're like, that's casual.

• 19:14Mary Beth Barone?

Well, because they're the devil's work.

• 19:16Benito Skinner?

Yeah. So then jean day, it's like, well, I only get to wear my Diesel jeans, like, you know, but 12 times a year, but every time it's, you know, it's fabulous. And high school, so your top had to have a collar. So it had to be a polo. I had to like beg my mom. I wanted like Lacoste polos. I needed like rugby's from, oh, do you remember polo rugby?

• 19:34Mary Beth Barone?

Oh, there's a rugby on Greenwich Avenue.

• 19:37Benito Skinner?

Nothing better. Hey, I've been to that store. I went to that store before and we lost it.

• 19:42Mary Beth Barone?

  Wow. It was huge.

• 19:44Benito Skinner?

  It was so big.

• 19:44Mary Beth Barone?

  Everywhere.

• 19:45Benito Skinner?

It was like Americana, East Coast prep sex. You're gonna feel that on Prime Video. But I feel like that started to be stressful for me, but I think within it, after a couple of years, I started to realize I like the structure of like, I love a polo. These are my colors. Like I knew I was a winter before anyone else really told me that. And that was because I had, I had to learn my colors and my structure. Like there are certain yellows that don't look good on me. Me in a royal blue, like it'll knock your socks off, like just things like that.

• 20:16Mary Beth Barone?

Sometimes you just have to find that stuff yourself.

• 20:18Benito Skinner?

You have to find that, but I think having the, what felt like the rigidity of the uniform, allowed me to find my personal style within it. And oh my God, I had these like, kind of like golden brown, like kind of jeans that were like a little bit slim from rugby that like, that fucking, oh my God. When I pulled up to school in that, in these like brown leather vans, I don't know. Like he did it with chair, kinda.

• 20:46Mary Beth Barone?

He did it with chair. I feel like I kind of moved away from uniforms again when I worked at Sephora because they made us wear these uniforms. A lot of people probably don't remember what Sephora employees had to wear in like 2011, but we looked like, we looked like flight attendants in Star Wars. Like they were, they were like, they were frocks with zippers and weird collars. And so I was like, I hate, I hate, I hate. That was, I felt hate.

• 21:13Benito Skinner?

  And with the glam.

• 21:15Mary Beth Barone?

And with the glam, you had a smokey eye, you had a lip, you had brows, you had foundation. It was like the whole thing.

• 21:20Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 21:20Mary Beth Barone?

And so I really was like, you know what? I don't want to be boxed in anymore. But I'm really finding the joy in having a uniform and having those staple pieces that I can just return to again and again. And if I like something a lot, I will buy two of them because, you know, clothes, they just aren't made the way that they used to be.

• 21:35Benito Skinner?

My mom used to say when we were kids, go deep, which we're like, okay, girl. She, Miss Bombshell spilled with that one.

• 21:42Mary Beth Barone?

I kind of love that mantra, actually.

• 21:44Benito Skinner?

Yeah, but she would go to J Crew and be like, I love the shape of this chino. I'm getting 10. And that's what she would do with art. Like, she's like, if you like that polo, when that's on sale at Macy's, like, I'm gonna get six. And that's what she did, and it was amazing.

• 21:57Mary Beth Barone?

I'm happy to say that the Sephora uniforms have changed. And I think they get to wear t-shirts and black pants now, which I'm so happy for all the girls every time I go in there. Figs is inherently a uniform. And I, I, I just, I think uniforms, they're evolving with culture, and I love that. And I, I see how different airlines have sort of updated their flight attendant outfits to be more reflective of like the style and comfort. And I just think if you're gonna enforce a uniform on your employees, comfort should come first because if people feel comfortable, I think they're gonna do a better job.

• 22:29Benito Skinner?

Comfort, understanding body diversity and allowing

• 22:33Mary Beth Barone?

  Oh, my God.

• 22:33Benito Skinner?

like a range of things someone can wear based on like what they're comfortable with. That's what I love to see.

• 22:37Mary Beth Barone?

  And gender expression.

• 22:38Benito Skinner?

I want to see different shapes, gender expression. I want to see, I, like, if I'm on an airplane and I see that, I'm like, you forced them into that. And I'm like, I know they're not comfortable. And that, I really, you're pissing me off. So, uniforms should be comfortable. Sometimes I daydream about if I just had to pick like a fig. I mean, I'd be such a terrible doctor and it'd be so stressful. But getting ready in the morning with my Stanley Cup, my Hoka's on, and a fig look? Like, I, you and I would kill it. We'd kill it. Jury's still out, though, if I would wear concealer as a doctor. I have thought about this.

• 23:11Mary Beth Barone?

  I think you probably would.

• 23:13Benito Skinner?

  You think so?

• 23:13Mary Beth Barone?

Because what if you were in the galley or like you were doing surgery or something? And it's like, I don't know how good the lighting's gonna be in there.

• 23:18Benito Skinner?

Yeah, that's true. Yeah, or if like students are watching through the glass brace. Oh, I had something to say on uniforms. What was I gonna say?

• 23:26Mary Beth Barone?

  J Crew chino.

• 23:27Benito Skinner?

Oh, you talking about your uniform makes me think about This Is Our Land. Can we talk about it?

• 23:33Mary Beth Barone?

  So.

• 23:35Benito Skinner?

Like, where to? Where to begin?

• 23:39Mary Beth Barone?

So I walked out of the hair and makeup trailer during overcompensating and I had my, I had the curlers in still. I had full glam, but I was still in my fatigues. I was in my civilian clothes and I walked by you. I was making a joke about how we had 30 seconds to get to set and this live photo caught me in a, such a compromising position that you took of me.

• 24:02Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 24:04Mary Beth Barone?

I can't, I don't, I almost don't even want to describe it more because I don't, you can't fathom what I look like in this picture.

• 24:11Benito Skinner?

You can't fathom, but when I tell you what I said when I saw it, it like speaks to exactly what it is. Mary Beth's like yelling at me in it as a joke, obviously. And to me, I'm like, this woman, it's not Mary Beth. I'm completely like, I separated the art from the artist the second I saw it. And it's like, this, this is our land. That's what it just, like, that's what I heard.

• 24:32Mary Beth Barone?

This is our land. And then my brother photoshopped a cigarette in my hand that's like, has smoke coming out of it. We'll post it on Ride the Pod. I return to that a lot, actually, because it's so fucking funny.

• 24:43Benito Skinner?

So, but I think that's the hardest I've ever seen Adam DiMarco laugh. Like, we were laughing about this is our land for a while. I mean, and I, this image, but it was in your uniform that like, you have that Calvin Klein like over shirt and then your Uggs on. I mean, you and I with Uggs on on a set.

• 25:01Mary Beth Barone?

  Forget it.

• 25:01Benito Skinner?

  Who's gonna stop us?

• 25:02Mary Beth Barone?

  Might as well be Bullseye.

• 25:03Benito Skinner?

  Not you.

• 25:04Mary Beth Barone?

Sorry. I wanted to open something up to our listeners.

• 25:08Benito Skinner?

  Yes.

• 25:09Mary Beth Barone?

So, okay. When I was home for Thanksgiving, my siblings and I were talking about the weirdest shit that they made us do at Catholic school. I don't mean sexual assault, because obviously that's not weird, that's a crime. So when I pose this question to the listeners, if you want to do a funny response about that, then that's your journey, I guess. But here's what I mean by that. At my school, at Greenwich Catholic School, they did this thing called the fifth grade marriages, which was where they would pick three boy-girl couples from the fifth grade class. They would pick bridesmaids and groomsmen for each of the pairs. And then they would do pretend weddings. They would have the girls wear a white dress and the guys wear a suit. And they would bring us to the church and do pretend weddings.

• 25:53Mary Beth Barone?

And they would have the pre-K class come as like the wedding guests. And it was called the fifth grade marriages.

• 25:59Benito Skinner?

Oh, I, I'm a bit speechless on that one.

• 26:02Mary Beth Barone?

  Fucking weird.

• 26:04Benito Skinner?

That is batshit insane. Parents were like, cool?

• 26:08Mary Beth Barone?

And it's like so normalized. It's just like, oh, well, yeah, it's just like a little activity for the kids.

• 26:13Benito Skinner?

And as a kid, like, I'm sure you would want to be one of the couples. But then for me, it would just be like, hmm. This feels weird. Guess this is the only time I'm gonna be marrying a woman.

• 26:23Mary Beth Barone?

  Exactly.

• 26:24Benito Skinner?

  Interesting.

• 26:25Mary Beth Barone?

  That was one.

• 26:27Benito Skinner?

Okay. I don't have anything that matches that. Jesus.

• 26:31Mary Beth Barone?

The next thing I want to bring up is that they would do a passion play in the church every year for Easter. And they would pick a student to play Jesus, which obviously my brother Greg booked the part. But they had him in the church shirtless, on the cross, in boxers.

• 26:46Benito Skinner?

So that's mine. And I can't, I think I've already said this, but I played the Jewish high priest, Caiphas. And it's kind of like, duh. Honey, she killed. But we did the passion, yeah. And in our class, the guy who was Jesus, yeah. I think, I believe it was boxers in front of everyone. It was like so bizarre. And then-

• 27:05Mary Beth Barone?

  Very strange.

• 27:06Benito Skinner?

You know, they're like, Mary Magdalene, the whore wipes the blood of Jesus. Like, it was crazy. We were in eighth grade, yeah. And we're doing this in front of adults.

• 27:14Mary Beth Barone?

And kids, like, all the younger kids were also there for the mass.

• 27:17Benito Skinner?

Oh, yeah, kindergarten would watch, you know, the Jesus get nailed to the cross. And then I was the priest that was like, kill him.

• 27:23Mary Beth Barone?

  Kill him.

• 27:23Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 27:24Mary Beth Barone?

Also, at our school, so our principal's name was Mrs. Madonna.

• 27:27Benito Skinner?

  Oh, she made that up.

• 27:29Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, every year, the sixth grade class would learn the song Like a Prayer to sing to Mrs. Madonna. So she would come to our class and we would sing Madonna's song Like a Prayer. And we were told, don't watch the music video because it has like a burning cross. And it was very controversial at the time. I think it has a lot of burning crosses, actually.

• 27:47Benito Skinner?

Yeah, I think that's kind of the whole point.

• 27:48Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, as the class, we had to learn that song and sing it to our principal. These were all things that were made to seem completely normal at the time.

• 27:56Benito Skinner?

  Okay, let's think.

• 27:57Mary Beth Barone?

Just like what we've been through, the things we've carried.

• 28:00Benito Skinner?

The things we've carried. I do remember, I really thought it was funny because my second grade teacher was a nun. It was when Lady Marmalade came out. And so I thought it was funny one day to sing, hey sister, so.

• 28:10Mary Beth Barone?

  The so, oh my god.

• 28:12Benito Skinner?

And I sang that to her and she thought it was funny. I remember her liking that.

• 28:16Mary Beth Barone?

Oh, that's actually, you know what? She's a good sport for that.

• 28:18Benito Skinner?

Yeah, she didn't take requests, but I was kind of just like, I'm gonna perform this regardless. So are you ready? But I'm trying to think if there were any other weird, yeah, but the passion was, you know, specific, definitely. There's nothing stranger than asking children to tell you sin, like.

• 28:32Mary Beth Barone?

  Confession, the sacrament of confession.

• 28:34Benito Skinner?

Confession was, the sacrament of confession was really strange. I guess what I'm saying is the weird stuff was like mass.

• 28:43Mary Beth Barone?

Weird stuff is just, so let's just say there's a baseline level of weird, which is just like Catholic traditions, culture.

• 28:49Benito Skinner?

Eating the body of Christ was strange every Friday.

• 28:52Mary Beth Barone?

  And drinking the blood.

• 28:53Benito Skinner?

  A dried piece of.

• 28:55Mary Beth Barone?

And then they would just sort of, they would say like, how can we reinvent this to make this even weirder for the students? And then they came up with really creative ways, it turns out.

• 29:02Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 29:03Mary Beth Barone?

So I'm looking forward to hearing, because if that's just what one school was doing that I attended, I have to imagine that other schools had some weird shit like that.

• 29:12Benito Skinner?

They definitely did. I'm kind of like, maybe mine, we were like, it was a soft serve. Like, we weren't matching anybody's freak at that time, which I think is disappointing. I guess I'm better for it, and I'm glad. But yeah, I think just the passion was what sticks with me. And my first role in a lot of ways, I didn't have to read for it. I just got it, which was cool.

• 29:29Mary Beth Barone?

  It was offer only.

• 29:30Benito Skinner?

That was my first offer only, which was, it felt good at the time.

• 29:33Mary Beth Barone?

And at such a young age.

• 29:35Benito Skinner?

I know, I know, I know. It was plucks from obscurity, darling. But I do remember the teacher being like, this is such an obvious role for you. And I was kind of like, huh? You know?

• 29:46Mary Beth Barone?

  Interesting.

• 29:46Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 29:47Mary Beth Barone?

There's some, there's some, some subtext there.

• 29:49Benito Skinner?

Hey, if you want me to play the villain, I'll play the villain. That's what I yelled to everyone in the class. You want me to be the villain? I'll be the villain.

• 29:55Mary Beth Barone?

And then you started singing Lady Marmalade.

• 29:57Benito Skinner?

Do you know what, yeah, hey sister. I do remember, I think I had weirder stuff in football, like Catholic football. When I had a Mormon football coach, that was when stuff was weird. Like the things we would do with the team and all that stuff. I always get asked this, though. People are like, was it so hot in the locker room? And I was like, if I could have ever gotten through the smell, maybe, but the smell was so disgusting. And I can't stress enough, there's just not really a consistency among penises. And what I saw will stay with me. The things Benny carries.

• 30:33Mary Beth Barone?

  The things Benny carries.

• 30:35Benito Skinner?

Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Yeah, the things I saw.

• 30:39Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah. Well, I guess we experienced a lot in our little uniforms. And I'm glad that we found our way back. I'm glad Catholicism didn't ruin uniforms for us forever.

• 30:50Benito Skinner?

And can I say what uniforms I miss? And this is going to come as a shock. I got to put it back on for overcompensating. Football pants. Oh, my God. I put them on and I went, holy shit, mama.

• 31:06Mary Beth Barone?

  Wow, yeah.

• 31:07Benito Skinner?

I couldn't, I couldn't get over it. I kept touching my thighs, like rubbing right up from the, from the knee to the hip. I couldn't believe it. What they do to your ass? A baseball uniform? The dumper and that stuff? I mean, I miss it. I would die to see you in a cheerleader uniform. Like, that's so cool.

• 31:24Mary Beth Barone?

Well, what was cool with swimming is we did all wear matching suits. That was like our uniform. But then we got tracksuits that said like West Hill Vikings and it had your last name on it. And we got to wear those on like days that we had meets and stuff. So it felt like camaraderie and it felt like community. And I don't know, maybe there's like a barony uniform that we, we can put together for Ride Heritage Month.

• 31:44Benito Skinner?

Oh, I was just picturing you playing volleyball. But also, I was thinking of when I was running track. I do remember like my meet being out. So that's just something I wanted to say. Sometimes uniforms can be so crass. And that's what's also fun.

• 31:57Mary Beth Barone?

Yeah, I feel like the track shorts aren't thinking about the consumer. You get what I mean by that?

• 32:02Benito Skinner?

  They're thinking about the audience.

• 32:04Mary Beth Barone?

They're thinking about the audience and that's, it's not about them.

• 32:07Benito Skinner?

You want me to be the villain? They tried to cancel me. Me. Ellen had a uniform. Sorry.

• 32:15Mary Beth Barone?

  She sure as hell did.

• 32:18Benito Skinner?

  Sorry.

• 32:18Mary Beth Barone?

She did. Every day on that show. I, oh, and I wanted to say that on flights, sometimes I'll see air hostesses who have on a stiletto because they want to. And I know it's because they want to, because that aisle is their runway. And the flight is a fashion show.

• 32:35Benito Skinner?

  The world's a stage.

• 32:36Mary Beth Barone?

And the world's a stage. And to them, I say bravo and like, you're one of our strongest soldiers to be up in the sky in a stiletto, stomping the yard, and please be nice to me.

• 32:45Benito Skinner?

Yeah. And also, hey, look over here. Come on. You see me.

• 32:48Mary Beth Barone?

And hey, I'm getting sexually harassed. Please help me.

• 32:51Benito Skinner?

  Hey, help me. I'm scared.

• 32:53Mary Beth Barone?

If I'd gone to the flight attendant about that, she would have come over to talk to the guy, I feel like. And I just, I'm like, no, be like, be an ally for me. Like, just move my seat, please. But I just knew it would become a thing.

• 33:04Benito Skinner?

She would have taken the pin out of the bandana around her neck, whipped it off and shoved it in his mouth.

• 33:10Mary Beth Barone?

I wish she would have, but I couldn't take that risk.

• 33:12Benito Skinner?

  No, totally.

• 33:13Mary Beth Barone?

You know, I couldn't take that risk. Also, if it was a straight male flight attendant, they would have just like, thought I was being insane or wanted to like, move to first class or something. So.

• 33:19Benito Skinner?

A gay one would have been like, we have Baileys. Do you want a Baileys?

• 33:22Mary Beth Barone?

They're like, we have a Chardonnay. Does that help? I'm like, it's 5:40 in the morning.

• 33:27Benito Skinner?

Do you want a snack box? We could get you like a cheese plate. What's in those cheese boxes is so crazy. I opened one recently and I literally thought to myself, they gotta have Mary Best curate these. That is a job that you would kill if this totally blows up in our face. If, if the whole acting thing is a bust.

• 33:45Mary Beth Barone?

If only they would ask. If only.

• 33:47Benito Skinner?

I found a job for you.

• 33:48Mary Beth Barone?

They would ask. Yeah. They, they have the craziest like turkey jerky stuff and like a cracker.

• 33:55Benito Skinner?

When have I ever in my fucking life wanted a dried apricot? When?

• 33:59Mary Beth Barone?

No. And that's not good for flying because you will fart.

• 34:03Benito Skinner?

Oh, girl, that, hey, speak for yourself, you nasty girl. Gleep that.

• 34:09Mary Beth Barone?

Well, there's no ride or die on a carpool, but we just want to say to all of our baronies in uniform, whatever that may be, we hope you're thriving. I don't know, maybe post a picture in your favorite uniform and tag ride the pod because we'd love to share and see what you're doing to like make the uniform your own.

• 34:25Benito Skinner?

Your uniform, blue cowgirl boots, your, I don't know what the bottom would be. I guess it would be the sweats I gave you that say.

• 34:33Mary Beth Barone?

  Make yourself hard to kill.

• 34:34Benito Skinner?

Make yourself hard to kill, a tube top.

• 34:36Mary Beth Barone?

  My favorite item.

• 34:36Benito Skinner?

A tube top, your silver hoop earrings, a spray tan because it counts as a part of the outfit and the uniform.

• 34:42Mary Beth Barone?

  Absolutely.

• 34:44Benito Skinner?

  And your Prada sunglasses.

• 34:46Mary Beth Barone?

  And a little bag.

• 34:47Benito Skinner?

  That's yours.

• 34:47Mary Beth Barone?

The smallest bag in the world. Your uniform is light denim.

• 34:50Benito Skinner?

  Yeah.

• 34:51Mary Beth Barone?

A chunky sneaker or a white Reebok sneaker.

• 34:53Benito Skinner?

  Exactly.

• 34:54Mary Beth Barone?

And then I would say a baggy shirt that also somehow shows off your body. Like there are ways of doing both and that is your uniform.

• 35:02Benito Skinner?

Hey, here's the thing and shout out Kirby because Kirby Johnson knows that if I can't show collarbone, I'm probably not putting the top on.

• 35:10Mary Beth Barone?

  Yeah.

• 35:11Benito Skinner?

That's what, but uniform did that to me because I could be like, oops. Like I found ways to like seduce, even if I'm covered. We're all born naked.

• 35:20Mary Beth Barone?

Wear your uniforms proudly. We're all born naked. And you know who I know is in their uniform? It's the lesbian cop that came to ride live.

• 35:28Benito Skinner?

Oh my God, she is serving today. Yeah.

• 35:32Mary Beth Barone?

  Love you.

• 35:32Benito Skinner?

I wonder if she shot anyone. We love you guys. This was such a good carpool. How should we end on it?

• 35:38Mary Beth Barone?

Stay strong, everyone. When you call my name.

• 35:42Benito Skinner?

It's like a little prayer. I'm down on my knees. Are you watching Miss Madonna? Take you there in the midnight hour. I can feel you. I'm picturing you as like you do the making out thing. Do you remember doing that dance move? Where you have your hands behind you and you do the kissing in the tree. I asked my godmother once for a Bratz doll. I, I feel sad I never came out to her, but I asked her for a Bratz boyfriend once.

• 36:10Mary Beth Barone?

So you kind of did come out to her in a way.

• 36:12Benito Skinner?

  Yep.

• 36:13Mary Beth Barone?

  Love you, Cad.

• 36:13Benito Skinner?

May the Lord be with you, my darling.

• 36:15Mary Beth Barone?

  And also with your spirit.

• 36:18Benito Skinner?

  Oh, my exit.

• 36:19Mary Beth Barone?

Benny, babe, eyes on the road. Benny, go!

• 36:33Speaker 04
