• 1:03Connor Wood?

  Hey Brooke.

• 1:05Brooke Averick?

  Hey Connor.

• 1:06Connor Wood?

Let out one more big sigh for me so we can get...

• 1:11Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 1:12Brooke Averick?

  Hey man.

• 1:13Connor Wood?

  Hey girl.

• 1:32Connor Wood?

  What you doing?

• 1:33Brooke Averick?

Oh duh. I've got my heating pad on today.

• 1:36Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 1:37Brooke Averick?

  And it smells like fire.

• 1:40Connor Wood?

You think it's maybe short-circuiting while it's on your belly?

• 1:42Brooke Averick?

  Could.

• 1:43Connor Wood?

Tell me about the heating pad. Why does everyone... Everyone really loves their heating pad.

• 1:46Brooke Averick?

It's amazing. This is my first time using this one, so it could be faulty. I don't know. But I need it today.

• 1:54Connor Wood?

  Who gives a shit?

• 1:55Brooke Averick?

  My tongue.

• 1:56Connor Wood?

Yeah. What's going on with your tongue? Should I even ask?

• 1:58Brooke Averick?

  I have my monthly.

• 2:00Connor Wood?

  Oh, okay.

• 2:01Brooke Averick?

So, I need my heating pad and shit like that.

• 2:06Connor Wood?

Were you the one that had that stinky little animal that you'd put in the microwave and it was like heavy?

• 2:10Brooke Averick?

Yes. Like, did you ever smell my stinky little animal?

• 2:15Connor Wood?

Yeah, I smelled your stinky animal. I think you brought it to California like the the time we met. You brought your stinky animal that you microwaved.

• 2:21Brooke Averick?

Okay, for those who don't know, I had this like microwaveable.

• 2:26Connor Wood?

  Stinky little animal.

• 2:27Brooke Averick?

I don't remember even what type of animal it was, maybe like.

• 2:30Connor Wood?

I think it was a duck.

• 2:31Brooke Averick?

It was not a duck at all. It was definitely like mouse adjacent. What was my stinky? Oh, no, it was a pizza.

• 2:39Connor Wood?

Oh, yeah, it was a pizza.

• 2:39Brooke Averick?

It was my pizza. It was my heatable pizza. And it just like when you heated it up, you know, it had those little like beads in it.

• 2:47Connor Wood?

It had beans and legumes in there.

• 2:49Brooke Averick?

  It, no, bead-za.

• 2:51Connor Wood?

It had, it was full of beans, I promise.

• 2:53Brooke Averick?

  Beads.

• 2:54Connor Wood?

No, they fill those up with beans because you can heat up beans.

• 2:56Brooke Averick?

No, it's beads. It's heatable beads.

• 2:59Connor Wood?

There's no such thing as a heatable bead. You don't just.

• 3:01Brooke Averick?

There's no such thing as heatable beans.

• 3:03Connor Wood?

  All beans are heated.

• 3:04Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, but to eat.

• 3:06Connor Wood?

  Not garbanzo.

• 3:08Brooke Averick?

No, these were not beans. Actually, what is inside of, like, what's inside of a wormy?

• 3:14Connor Wood?

  When it's beans.

• 3:14Brooke Averick?

It was like a wormy. And there was just like, it smelled like just.

• 3:19Connor Wood?

  Computer, show me beans.

• 3:20Brooke Averick?

  A really burnt popcorn.

• 3:23Connor Wood?

  Yeah, it was really.

• 3:24Brooke Averick?

It's lavender scented, but what, what are those? What are those?

• 3:28Connor Wood?

It was not lavender scented. It smelled like grandpa's feet.

• 3:31Brooke Averick?

  Flaxseed and dried French lavender.

• 3:35Connor Wood?

  That is so not true.

• 3:36Brooke Averick?

  You weren't like wrong.

• 3:38Connor Wood?

  Far, that's a farce.

• 3:40Brooke Averick?

  It's flaxseed.

• 3:42Connor Wood?

Well, I want to know why it smelled like old, like.

• 3:44Brooke Averick?

It was like really burnt popcorn.

• 3:46Connor Wood?

  In between someone's toes.

• 3:48Brooke Averick?

No, it was not that at all.

• 3:50Connor Wood?

  It broke. It was suspicious.

• 3:52Brooke Averick?

Yeah, but it wasn't like a bad smell. It was just like, hi, honey, there's my pizza. It was just like.

• 4:01Brooke Averick?

And mine wasn't a wormy, so I don't, this is nothing against wormies. I love wormies. Wormies smell great. I feel bad about putting my wormies in the microwave because they're cute. They're actually cute little animals. I have a chick and a duck.

• 4:11Connor Wood?

I know. I was kind of like putting them into the.

• 4:13Brooke Averick?

I know. I don't like to watch. I won't put them in the microwave, but anyway, hello, hello.

• 4:20Connor Wood?

Let me make a Sylvia Plath wormy.

• 4:23Brooke Averick?

  That's not funny.

• 4:24Connor Wood?

That's not funny at all. I'm not, I didn't even smile when I said that. If you're listening on audio only, let the record show, I did not smile.

• 4:32Brooke Averick?

Dude, I'm so tired, man. What a two weeks it's been.

• 4:37Connor Wood?

  I know.

• 4:38Brooke Averick?

Tired in an amazing way. Tired in like a blessed way. Like how I'm so lucky to have been doing so many things, so many amazing things that have drained me in an amazing way.

• 4:50Connor Wood?

It's great to be drained in a positive way.

• 4:52Brooke Averick?

It is. What's that quote that's like, I'm complaining about?

• 4:56Connor Wood?

  Yes.

• 4:56Brooke Averick?

I'm so lucky to be complaining about the things that I would have like killed to do. I really feel that.

• 5:02Connor Wood?

  That's awesome.

• 5:02Brooke Averick?

  Thanks.

• 5:03Connor Wood?

So happy for you. Yeah, we...

• 5:06Brooke Averick?

  We had our live shows.

• 5:07Connor Wood?

Can we do the recap after we... Of the last week? I guess we start with last week.

• 5:13Brooke Averick?

I think we need to recap our live shows.

• 5:16Connor Wood?

  Okay. Yes.

• 5:18Brooke Averick?

So I think we already recapped San Diego and that I need, I'm moving to La Jolla.

• 5:24Connor Wood?

Yes, we did. We talked about La Jolla.

• 5:26Brooke Averick?

  And then we had Irvine.

• 5:29Connor Wood?

  Yes.

• 5:30Brooke Averick?

Which like, I don't have much to say to you.

• 5:33Connor Wood?

I love Irvine and everyone came to the Irvine show. That was so much fun.

• 5:38Brooke Averick?

  It was amazing.

• 5:39Connor Wood?

Um, yeah, that was great. And then...

• 5:43Brooke Averick?

Should we tell everyone what the structure of the show was?

• 5:47Connor Wood?

  Yeah, I guess, yeah.

• 5:48Brooke Averick?

Basically, if, um, we just came out and we kind of shot the shit for a little bit, like a podcast. And then Izzy made this amazing presentation and they were different at each stop. And it was basically each slide was something that we have learned um, over the course of the five years that we've been doing this podcast. So for example, one slide could have been NATO, another slide could have been internet cables. And we would essentially, we would teach the audience what we had learned. Sometimes we were so spot on. Sometimes we needed Izzy's help. Um, but yeah, it was a, it was a learning opportunity for everyone.

• 6:28Connor Wood?

As he was able to join us on stage.

• 6:30Brooke Averick?

  As he was amazing.

• 6:31Connor Wood?

And guy, be our guiding light.

• 6:33Brooke Averick?

Yeah, as he was our fear guide.

• 6:35Connor Wood?

It was so much fun and it brought up like fun comedy. It really was, it really was Brooke. A live podcast in many ways.

• 6:42Brooke Averick?

It was, it was amazing. I had a blast. I feel very comfortable on stage.

• 6:46Connor Wood?

  Yes, you crushed it.

• 6:47Brooke Averick?

You, Connor, you freaking crushed it.

• 6:49Connor Wood?

You better, you better hop back on your high horse because you should be up there riding off into the sunset.

• 6:54Brooke Averick?

You should be up there with me. You freaking crushed it.

• 6:57Connor Wood?

We are both side saddling our high horse and riding away.

• 6:59Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, bound to be like.

• 7:05Connor Wood?

The British are coming and the British us. The British equal us.

• 7:10Brooke Averick?

Okay, so we did amazing. Um, and then Sacramento was so unique.

• 7:16Connor Wood?

Sac City was a unique experience.

• 7:17Brooke Averick?

Sac City was so unique. The show itself, love.

• 7:22Connor Wood?

  Adored.

• 7:22Brooke Averick?

The city is a unique thing.

• 7:25Connor Wood?

It was a unique thing and I think that that's like when I, when I tell you about, sometimes I go on tour and many times they say, you are performing in XYZ. And so that's what I announce when I, I'm performing in Miami. And then what they don't tell you is that the venue many times is one hour outside of where you announced that you're performing.

• 7:45Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 7:46Connor Wood?

  And.

• 7:47Brooke Averick?

And people get so mad when you do that, I learned. That happened to me with my Phoebe San Francisco tour stop. Where, cause I said San Francisco and everyone is like, this is not San Francisco. I'm sorry.

• 8:02Connor Wood?

I, I do want to request some grace because when we receive it, like I'm not Googling the venue. I'm just excited to go to

• 8:09Brooke Averick?

  Completely.

• 8:09Connor Wood?

Someplace that's adjacent to the city. And listen, many times those places are not in like the most, how you say, desirable areas. And many would even say, don't walk alone in these areas, but.

• 8:23Connor Wood?

It's fun. It's a fun experience. It's so unique and you make the best of it and that's what we did and it was so much fun.

• 8:27Brooke Averick?

SAC was in SAC. Our SAC venue was very much in SAC.

• 8:31Connor Wood?

No, I know. I know. I'm saying like when I tell you like, like my Miami location was like genuinely one hour outside of Miami and so like completely different county and city. And people were like, I, you know, like, that's just an example, but it was just like,

• 8:46Brooke Averick?

  No, this was in Sacramento.

• 8:48Connor Wood?

Yeah, yeah. I divulged a little bit from the Sacramento.

• 8:52Brooke Averick?

  You divulged.

• 8:54Connor Wood?

I like Sacramento. That was my first time there.

• 8:56Brooke Averick?

It was pouring rain and thunder. We stayed in a government themed hotel, which was amazing.

• 9:02Connor Wood?

Okay. It's like, we probably should have known because the, it was called the Citizen Hotel.

• 9:07Brooke Averick?

I would never assume that just because a hotel is called the Citizen, it would mean it's government themed.

• 9:13Connor Wood?

  It was.

• 9:13Brooke Averick?

  But it was like, cool.

• 9:15Connor Wood?

  No, it was cool.

• 9:16Brooke Averick?

Definitely on the right side of history.

• 9:18Connor Wood?

No, you say that and then like, I was looking closer at the quotes in the elevator and they were all Ronald Reagan, so I'm confused.

• 9:24Brooke Averick?

No, I think it was, oh, they were.

• 9:26Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 9:27Brooke Averick?

I guess I wasn't reading closely, but I took it all as kind of like warning signs.

• 9:32Connor Wood?

  No, it was.

• 9:33Brooke Averick?

Everything felt like a warning sign, like be careful.

• 9:36Connor Wood?

It was all very much like the people, like throw over the government, like, like we need to, we need to create a coup right now in the lobby and overthrow the government.

• 9:47Brooke Averick?

Which to me right now feels like, yeah.

• 9:49Connor Wood?

Yeah, but then it was like, are you guys just like this all the time? You know, like, it didn't seem like a newer rebranded hotel based on like who's currently in office. It was like, no, this is like our whole thing. Like, we just like, love the idea, the theme of toppling like a, an oligarchy, but like just in general.

• 10:11Brooke Averick?

Sure. I think it was just like, kind of almost even like American history in a way.

• 10:16Connor Wood?

Kind of, but it was, it was, I like, I was, I guess basically like, I was having trouble like figuring out what, like, who was the designer, like the choreographer of all of the like quotes, I guess mostly.

• 10:32Brooke Averick?

We could look into the Citizen Hotel like in bonus, maybe. The history of the Citizen Hotel and stuff.

• 10:37Connor Wood?

Oh yeah, we should. I'm really curious. Cause that was like, the Citizen Hotel, they have started to make hotels that are almost personified into like a type of person like that. It was like a type of person and then the moxie hotels like

• 10:51Brooke Averick?

I love, you know, I love the mox.

• 10:53Connor Wood?

It's so funny that you love the moxie. He's the moxie's like absolutely, like you're allowed to.

• 10:59Connor Wood?

One of the ones I know you're allowed to get for like a couple of hours during the day, which is like definitely like. So that you can like.

• 11:06Brooke Averick?

Not my moxie. That's not my moxie.

• 11:09Connor Wood?

It was one that I went to, but like that's the, the, the moxie's the one that I stayed at in Ireland when it was like.

• 11:16Connor Wood?

Want to go to third base? And it was like the elevator asking me if I want to go to third base. And I was like, no elevator. I'll take the stairs.

• 11:22Brooke Averick?

Not my moxie. My moxie's definitely more modest.

• 11:27Connor Wood?

Which moxie are you talking about?

• 11:28Brooke Averick?

Uh, I love the, it's hard for me to always, I don't know the difference between the lower east side and the east village. Cause I, I always put the wrong one in and I always go to the wrong moxie.

• 11:39Connor Wood?

  Oh yeah, there's two.

• 11:40Brooke Averick?

  It's one of them.

• 11:42Connor Wood?

  Okay.

• 11:42Brooke Averick?

But I, and I, when I was just in New York, I stayed at a hotel that was exercise workout themed.

• 11:49Brooke Averick?

Which wasn't a match. Each room had its own medicine ball.

• 11:54Connor Wood?

They put a medicine ball in.

• 11:55Brooke Averick?

  Yoga mats.

• 11:56Connor Wood?

  In the room. Yeah.

• 11:57Brooke Averick?

And those like stretchy bands that you pull were coming out of the wall.

• 12:01Connor Wood?

I, I, it does make you wonder if that was. Like, those bands are expensive. I have some of, I have some personal bands. And they're not super cheap to put those in each room. Like, it almost seems like they could have just built a gym.

• 12:15Brooke Averick?

Oh, they had, they had a gym.

• 12:18Brooke Averick?

Yeah, it was very, it was a workout based hotel.

• 12:23Connor Wood?

Oh, you can really, I guess you can really do whatever. Whatever theme you feel like doing for the hotel.

• 12:29Brooke Averick?

There are book themed hotels that I want to stay at.

• 12:32Connor Wood?

  Oh, that's interesting.

• 12:33Brooke Averick?

And there will be one in my town.

• 12:35Connor Wood?

  That you create?

• 12:36Brooke Averick?

It will be Bookin' Cats. Which, by the way, is gonna be the name of me and Cats bookstore. Brooke' Cats, Books and Cats. Is that not insane?

• 12:45Connor Wood?

Oh, that's really good. Oh, that's really good.

• 12:49Brooke Averick?

Is that not crazy how that worked out? It's like we were born to do this.

• 12:53Connor Wood?

You just let the, let the universe figure it all out.

• 12:55Brooke Averick?

  Let the universe talk.

• 12:56Connor Wood?

Yeah, for a second, if you don't mind.

• 12:58Brooke Averick?

Let them lead and you will follow.

• 13:00Connor Wood?

Shouting out for a bit so the universe can speak.

• 13:02Brooke Averick?

  Okay, Sac City.

• 13:03Connor Wood?

I had a real almost pee my pants moment, IRL, on the stage. So yeah, our live shows are pretty fun.

• 13:10Brooke Averick?

  You could say that again.

• 13:11Connor Wood?

Yeah, and I know a lot of people were asking about merch. I think we did sell out of merch, right?

• 13:16Speaker 04

In Sacramento, but we will be selling.

• 13:19Brooke Averick?

  In Sacramento.

• 13:20Connor Wood?

Okay, so we will be putting

• 13:24Connor Wood?

the, the tour merch online. And then watch this space. And then you, I mean, you were just like a little tour, tour bird this week. Cause you, then you hit Phoebe right after.

• 13:32Brooke Averick?

I did a, I had a little mini Phoebe press tour in New York.

• 13:38Brooke Averick?

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, four day, four day run.

• 13:41Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 13:43Brooke Averick?

Let me go through that briefly.

• 13:44Connor Wood?

  Yeah, hit it.

• 13:46Brooke Averick?

  On Wednesday, I did something

• 13:50Brooke Averick?

so out of my comfort zone. It was a press opportunity that will be posted, so you will see it. Let's just say so out of my comfort zone, so cute, not a match. Um, and, and y'all will be able to see that and so cute, not a match. Then, yeah, I mean, I just went on a lot of podcasts and all these podcasts were very much like, they had a theme.

• 14:17Connor Wood?

  Yep.

• 14:18Brooke Averick?

And so they wanted to stick to the subject, which makes sense, of course. Like, that's what podcasts do. Connor, I had a very hard time staying on topic and not doing what we do. And God bless the hosts. Like, I could, I think they may have gotten a little bit frustrated with me.

• 14:35Connor Wood?

They do, and I, that's why I, I, I'm like a one and done podcaster because I don't get invited back on air.

• 14:40Brooke Averick?

Right, they like kept wanting to talk to me about dating and I was like, I have nothing to say there. But have y'all heard of the internet cables that run across the Mariana Trench?

• 14:48Connor Wood?

  Brooke, yeah, Brooke, it's hard.

• 14:50Brooke Averick?

We are a match made in heaven.

• 14:53Connor Wood?

This, no, we really do. And also like, this is my milking farm. Like, I have to go like, have this release once a week, you know, like, so that I can continue my day to day and I don't put that on to someone else. Like, I have to put that here.

• 15:03Brooke Averick?

Completely. I didn't realize. I just really, truly didn't realize that like, we are meant to podcast together, because I was having a very hard time not doing what we do on other podcasts.

• 15:15Connor Wood?

Oh, Brooke, I'm so happy you have felt that. Like, me too. It's, it's really something.

• 15:20Brooke Averick?

And people, yeah, I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off.

• 15:24Connor Wood?

I'm trying to, I'm trying to think who, I think it was on Tankses, last time I went on, she was like, "We didn't do any of the stuff that I had planned." And I was like, "I'm really sorry." And then the comments were very much like, "I mean, you guys didn't even finish once in it." And I was like, "That's really my bad."

• 15:41Brooke Averick?

Yeah. No, it's, it's not your fault. And also, all of these podcasts were very like, dating forward, because I wrote a rom-com. And so that was really hard, because they were like, "Oh, tell me about your last ex. Like, how did that relationship end?" And it's like, "Oh, baby, like, wrong person. I love you, though."

• 16:00Connor Wood?

Baby, I'm the only car in the parking lot.

• 16:02Brooke Averick?

Oh, baby, if, if my ex is driving the bus...

• 16:06Connor Wood?

  Who's driving the plane?

• 16:07Brooke Averick?

  Then it's a Waymo.

• 16:11Brooke Averick?

  So...

• 16:12Connor Wood?

  Maybe there is no plane.

• 16:13Brooke Averick?

Maybe there was never a plane. So, that was amazing.

• 16:17Connor Wood?

  That's very funny.

• 16:50Speaker 01

• 17:15Brooke Averick?

And then, so did a lot of that. Oh, I saw Oh, Mary.

• 17:20Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 17:21Brooke Averick?

  So here's the thing.

• 17:22Connor Wood?

Wait, who did you, who was the Mary?

• 17:25Brooke Averick?

Mary was John Cameron Mitchell, who I had not really heard of before. But he was amazing. And I, like, I didn't want to say this before, but I did not think I was gonna like Oh, Mary. Because it's, one, I'm not really into plays. I'm a musical girl. Two, I'm not really into, like, campy theatrical humor. I like dry humor. And so I just wasn't expecting to like it. I did, which was great. I was so happy. It was so smart. And I didn't really know anything about it, and it was just brilliant. And so, and the length was perfect. It was like an hour.

• 18:05Connor Wood?

  Wow.

• 18:06Brooke Averick?

Yeah. No intermission or anything. I think, I don't know if you will like it. I'm so curious. Because it really is like theater, theater humor. Like, just like theatrical, I guess, is what I'm looking for.

• 18:22Connor Wood?

I feel like if I'm going to the theater to go see a play, like, I can just shift into that mode.

• 18:27Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 18:28Connor Wood?

You know, like, the things that I don't like are, like, I go to a movie, and then I find out 10 minutes into the movie, it's a musical. And I'm like, oh, Jesus Christ. Like, I'm stuck.

• 18:37Brooke Averick?

  You didn't tell me.

• 18:37Connor Wood?

  You know?

• 18:41Connor Wood?

That's like showing up somewhere in a sweater, and you don't have, like, an undershirt, and you're like, wow, I'm just about to sweat for, like, an hour and a half.

• 18:46Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 18:46Connor Wood?

You know? So, but like, I feel like I could, I don't know, I kind of want to go when Maya Rudolph is Mary.

• 18:53Brooke Averick?

I, that, I think, yeah. How could you not love that?

• 18:55Connor Wood?

I know. If I just, like, in the presence of Mrs. Rudolph, like, I feel like I'll be okay.

• 19:00Brooke Averick?

Yeah. We will all be okay.

• 19:03Connor Wood?

Well, just in the, in the, in the camp of books right now, I do want to, like, announce with my chest.

• 19:10Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 19:11Connor Wood?

  I finished a book.

• 19:15Connor Wood?

  I finished reading a book.

• 19:16Brooke Averick?

I can't believe, I, yes, I can't believe, out of all of the books that you've started, this is the one that you finished.

• 19:24Connor Wood?

  I know.

• 19:24Brooke Averick?

I take back everything I said.

• 19:26Connor Wood?

I mean, and you know what's crazy is I finished it, once I sat down and I started reading, I finished it in three days.

• 19:34Brooke Averick?

And just to clarify, this is stoner, correct?

• 19:36Connor Wood?

This is stoner, I have it here with me.

• 19:39Brooke Averick?

  Give a book report.

• 19:44Connor Wood?

Yeah, so this was a devastating book.

• 19:49Brooke Averick?

Tell us about the themes too, I know you love those.

• 19:52Connor Wood?

I mean, to be, to be totally fair, and like, I'm not gonna give any spoilers, like, just know I'm a hater, like, I, for each, each specific reason, I hated every single character in this book, um, I hate the main character, I hate his wife, I hate his child.

• 20:06Brooke Averick?

  You're supposed to know, right?

• 20:07Connor Wood?

I, I don't really know, I don't really know, the interesting thing is like, you know Manchester by the Sea where I was like, I couldn't even feel sad for this guy because his life is so horrible and he does nothing to fix it, you know, he's like in a prison of his own making, and so that was a lot like this book, and this author, before he passed, he's from, he's from Europe somewhere, I don't know, and I guess that this didn't really gain popularity in the United States because Americans were like so upset, it was so upsetting for them because of how depressing this book was because of this guy's life, because it's, you know, he had this, everything that made him happy, like, there

• 20:48Connor Wood?

were very high highs and very low lows for him, and it was like a very unremarkable life that he had, and he didn't get as far in his career as he had wanted to and whatever, and so he gets, this, this author gets reported back that like, that's how Americans feel about this book, and he's like, oh really, well like, I, I real, I'm shocked by that because I think this is most people's lives, like, this is a very typical life, and so, I don't know, Americans had like a hard time swallowing that pill, that nut, and, um, no, but I finished it, and I, if, I mean, I, it's hard to talk about it because like, there's no way for me to explain this, but just like, everyone in this book may be mad.

• 21:28Connor Wood?

And I really wanna, I really quickly wanna also say, so like, I finished this book.

• 21:32Brooke Averick?

  Yes.

• 21:33Connor Wood?

And I'm immediately disgusted by my phone because I was so enthralled with this storyline and like, not that I was even really enjoying it, I just like, I needed to finish it.

• 21:41Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 21:43Connor Wood?

So I finished this book, I wanna really, and then guess what? I drive down to Barnes and, I drive down to Barnes and, I pick up Dungeon Crawler Carl. Right away, same day. I wanna really quickly read to you, I wanna show you how I ended this book. Shot, Chaser. I'm gonna read the last passage of Stoner, and then I'm gonna read the opening passage of Dungeon Crawler Kyle.

• 22:05Brooke Averick?

Okay, start with the shot, here we go.

• 22:11Connor Wood?

"He let his fingers rifle through the pages and felt a tingling if those pages were alive. The tingling came through his fingers and coursed through his flesh and his bone. He was minutely aware of it, and he waited until it contained him, until the old,

• 22:26Connor Wood?

until the old excitement that was like terror fixed on him where he lay. The sunlight passing through his window showed up on the page, and he could not see what was written there. The fingers loosened, and the book, they held, they had held, moved slowly and then swiftly across the still body, and fell into the silence of the room."

• 22:42Brooke Averick?

  Did he just pass?

• 22:43Connor Wood?

"I was holding a crying, scratching, squirming, and spitting cat named Princess Donut Queen Aunt Chunk."

• 22:53Brooke Averick?

That sounds amazing. Hi Princess Chunk Donut.

• 22:58Connor Wood?

  It's just like-

• 22:58Brooke Averick?

  People love Princess Donut.

• 23:01Connor Wood?

I'm having a hard time with Dungeon Crawler Carl now.

• 23:04Brooke Averick?

How far did you get past that first sentence?

• 23:06Connor Wood?

  Yeah, I'm on page eight.

• 23:08Brooke Averick?

  You're having a hard time?

• 23:09Connor Wood?

Yeah, it's just like, you read about this, this guy with this horrible, horrible life, and it goes through World War I and II in this book. And then Carl is like, talking to a troll and being like, "Hey man, back off troll, I'm holding Princess Donut Chunk."

• 23:25Brooke Averick?

I didn't realize that Dungeon Crawler is based off of a video game.

• 23:29Connor Wood?

Oh, that would, I mean, that totally makes sense, it's completely, it is video game-esque. Like, it's like, he has levels, and it's like- Like, okay, first eight pages, I don't know what happens, okay? Like, I don't know what's gonna happen. Obviously, I'm texting Dylan about this book.

• 23:47Brooke Averick?

Good, I was gonna say text Dylan. I'm texting Dylan too. He's reading Crescent City right now.

• 23:52Connor Wood?

I know, he said, he said, he said he listened to these books and he said he got, he said it was, let me just read what he said, cuz it was like.

• 24:01Brooke Averick?

Yeah, Dylan's a big audiobook guy.

• 24:04Connor Wood?

It was a really easy read. Author doesn't waste too much time world building, like relates everything to modern day. So he says, the inside kinda looks like a target, kind of thing. But then he's really good at building a climax and big action scenes where you don't know what's gonna happen. But it is genuinely so fictional that it's like trolls and goblins and like a little rat man, a man that looks, a man that is a rat.

• 24:23Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 24:24Connor Wood?

  I'm having a hard time with that. I don't.

• 24:25Brooke Averick?

Do you wanna read, sometimes it's real like whiplash to go from Stoner to something like Dungeon Crawler. Do you want to read a sort of bridge first?

• 24:35Connor Wood?

Yeah, I think I have to cuz like, I'm really not like, it's not, I like the like more historical fiction things cuz it's like, okay.

• 24:43Brooke Averick?

  Let's find you a bridge.

• 24:44Connor Wood?

  Aye.

• 24:45Brooke Averick?

But I think this is amazing. I'm so proud of you. Would you consider downloading Goodreads?

• 24:51Connor Wood?

Yeah, oh my gosh, I need to, you're right, I need to put that, my thoughts somewhere and like, talk to a community of people.

• 24:57Brooke Averick?

Please download Goodreads. I want, you're gonna log the Stoner as your first book of 2026. I wanna see your review. I'll engage, like, comment, and then you can start building your to-read shelf.

• 25:09Connor Wood?

  My repertoire?

• 25:10Brooke Averick?

Yeah, I'm so excited for you and very proud of you.

• 25:14Connor Wood?

Thanks, I'm pretty excited about that. That was just like, the whiplash is a good way to put it.

• 25:18Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, we'll find.

• 25:19Connor Wood?

It just bummed me out. I was like, oh, I was like so in this zone, like now I'm not in this zone anymore.

• 25:25Brooke Averick?

  You could also text Matt.

• 25:28Connor Wood?

  I should text Matt.

• 25:29Brooke Averick?

Matt's a great reader. Matt has a book club. I won't speak on his behalf, but there's definitely a lot of drama happening there. We went to Barnes and Noble yesterday. Matt and I like have such a, an amazing friendship and we do really fun things together. Tomorrow, we're going to a few different libraries across Los Angeles and collecting unique stamps, but he, you could join his book club.

• 25:53Connor Wood?

I don't know if I will, right now.

• 25:55Brooke Averick?

Talk to him about it, you can talk to him about it. They're definitely in a state of, of, they're in a flex state right now, for sure.

• 26:00Connor Wood?

  They're.

• 26:01Brooke Averick?

Won't speak on it too much, but.

• 26:04Connor Wood?

The hierarchy is being, is a little fragile right now?

• 26:07Brooke Averick?

Yes, the hierarchy is fragile. So they're thinking about new members, so.

• 26:13Connor Wood?

  They're considering it?

• 26:14Brooke Averick?

Considering new members, I would reach out if I were you.

• 26:18Connor Wood?

  That's fabulous.

• 26:19Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, so.

• 26:20Connor Wood?

Good for you guys. Enjoy your stamp collecting. Send me updates.

• 26:23Brooke Averick?

Yeah, oh, I will send you updates. But this will be my first LA library card, which is long overdue.

• 26:29Connor Wood?

Wow, I got a New York library card before you got an LA library card.

• 26:32Brooke Averick?

So dumb of me. But, um.

• 26:36Connor Wood?

Colin Uver's coming out with a book and Alex Cooper is, or not, not, not a book, a movie. Alex Cooper's in the movie.

• 26:42Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, Verity, right?

• 26:43Connor Wood?

  Yeah, isn't that crazy?

• 26:44Brooke Averick?

  Um, yeah.

• 26:47Connor Wood?

  Alex Cooper's in the movie.

• 26:48Brooke Averick?

But as herself, right? Like as her fictional self, like, yeah. That makes sense.

• 26:54Connor Wood?

No, but Call Her Daddy is in the movie. Is Call Her Daddy in the book?

• 27:00Brooke Averick?

  No.

• 27:02Connor Wood?

Okay, that, that's, to me, like, am I the only one who, when there's something that, like, they try to throw in for relevancy, like, make it so today? Like, are you not pulled out of the TV or movie that you're watching?

• 27:13Brooke Averick?

  A lot of people are.

• 27:15Connor Wood?

I'm so confused, like, how, I know it keeps happening because now you've, now you have this person on board that is gonna be like, I'm stoked to be a part of this project, post, post, post. And like, that will increase viewership to see that moment, but like, wow. I don't know.

• 27:31Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 27:31Connor Wood?

  Not a fan of that.

• 27:32Brooke Averick?

No, I don't really like that either.

• 27:35Brooke Averick?

  But.

• 27:35Connor Wood?

That's like when people are like, oh, I watched Euphoria. Did you watch Euphoria?

• 27:40Brooke Averick?

  No.

• 27:41Connor Wood?

  It is so bad.

• 27:42Brooke Averick?

I'm not going to, because like, I loved the first two seasons, and that's my euphoria, and this is just gonna be a different show that I don't feel interested in.

• 27:50Connor Wood?

I mean, you truly have people that are, were in a contract and then took some time off and became like actual despians. Like, Jacob Elordi is like such an incredible actor, and then you see him do this thing he's talking about, only fans and like TikTok, and it's like, no, go, run.

• 28:07Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 28:07Connor Wood?

It's so bad. Sam Levinson needs to go, and Ryan, and Ryan Murphy, like, all of these people that are like pumping out so much TV, like, need to go.

• 28:16Brooke Averick?

  They're so milking farm derogatory.

• 28:19Connor Wood?

  What?

• 28:19Brooke Averick?

  Milking farm derogatory.

• 28:21Connor Wood?

Yeah, I mean, it's just, it's very, um. It's very like, you know, those things that always pop up in between people Snapchat stories? And it's like an app that you download to watch short, dramatic-

• 28:33Brooke Averick?

  Oh, absolutely.

• 28:34Connor Wood?

  -video stories?

• 28:35Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 28:36Connor Wood?

It feels like one of those, you know?

• 28:38Brooke Averick?

That's a good comparison. Yeah, I'm not gonna watch.

• 28:41Connor Wood?

  I know.

• 28:43Brooke Averick?

  Which is a shame, but...

• 28:45Connor Wood?

You're truly not missing. I was watching with a group of people. I'm looking around at the room. I'm like, is anyone... I'm just jaw on the floor. It seems like a parody.

• 28:53Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 28:54Connor Wood?

  Really, really crazy.

• 28:55Brooke Averick?

  Not much.

• 28:56Connor Wood?

And it low-key became Narcos. Like, I don't know.

• 29:00Connor Wood?

It's like very drug... I mean, I know it was always kind of drug-heavy. Like, that was the whole-

• 29:03Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 29:04Connor Wood?

-thing, but now it's like crossing borders with-

• 29:07Brooke Averick?

Is it like following what the plot from season two or Rue got like into whatever situation she got herself into?

• 29:16Connor Wood?

It's... I'm kind of unclear, but yeah, she still owes that, that young woman some cash.

• 29:20Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, okay.

• 29:21Connor Wood?

But like, they're fully like crossing borders with cocaine in their ass.

• 29:24Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 29:26Connor Wood?

It's like, this was, this was low-key fun because you guys were like, like this was all happening wrong side of the tracks, high school. You know, like, I didn't sign up for this.

• 29:36Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 29:37Connor Wood?

  This part.

• 29:38Brooke Averick?

I am going to pass on it.

• 29:40Connor Wood?

You know, it was good that I also watched Big Mistakes. I was so right about that. It's so good.

• 29:45Brooke Averick?

  What's that one again?

• 29:45Connor Wood?

That I talk about? The one with Dan Levy-

• 29:48Brooke Averick?

  Okay.

• 29:49Connor Wood?

Um, and Taylor Otega. I watched it and Jack in it and it is so good.

• 29:54Brooke Averick?

  Really?

• 29:54Connor Wood?

  It is so good, yeah.

• 29:55Brooke Averick?

  Okay.

• 29:56Connor Wood?

This is, this is the kind of like writing and acting where like I can tell that they had fun with it. Like, when they do the scenes, they're like, it's almost improv-y. They're like, you have to get from here to here in this scene, but they're like kind of talking over each other and like having fun with it.

• 30:09Brooke Averick?

  I love it.

• 30:10Connor Wood?

  It's really good.

• 30:10Brooke Averick?

  Okay, I'll watch.

• 30:12Connor Wood?

Yeah. I kind of didn't know that every show this year was gonna be like, have some like, um, level of gang and like cartel level to it.

• 30:24Brooke Averick?

  I don't think-

• 30:25Connor Wood?

  But I guess that's what we're doing.

• 30:26Brooke Averick?

That's like my favorite kind of show.

• 30:27Connor Wood?

  Really?

• 30:29Brooke Averick?

Yeah, or at least like, because there have been so many shows I love.

• 30:33Brooke Averick?

I guess like Breaking Bad and Weeds. And like, once it gets into the like smuggling cartel, like, politics of-

• 30:44Brooke Averick?

The cartel, I kind of, they lose me.

• 30:46Connor Wood?

I know. Whatever happened, I'm having fun.

• 30:50Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 30:52Connor Wood?

  No one's having fun anymore.

• 30:53Brooke Averick?

More like a small town dealer than a like, big drug circle.

• 30:59Connor Wood?

There it goes. Yeah, I like when, I like when the drug dealers keep it like in the family.

• 31:04Brooke Averick?

Yeah, keep it in the family. Yep. Once we start getting political and there's like drug lords involved, I'm, you lose me.

• 31:11Connor Wood?

Um, what I was gonna tell you this morning before I forgot was, there's this really, really, really mean girl that makes smoothies at this store down the street. She works every single day and she hates me so much. Like really, really, truly like won't look at me, won't talk to me.

• 31:25Brooke Averick?

  Maybe she likes you.

• 31:27Connor Wood?

I don't think it's like that because she, um, like, like hates me and it's like visceral. Like I can see it and I'm like, hey, I get it. Like if, and I'm, I'm just kind of like, what can I do here? Cause like when something like that presents itself to me like a challenge, I'm like, I'm gonna overcome this and I'm gonna, we will be friends. It has been a climb to get her, but today she smiled and kind of left.

• 31:52Brooke Averick?

Oh my God. You've got her wrapped around your finger.

• 31:55Connor Wood?

No, I really do. When I go order my clean, my clean green smoothie, um, I saw her on a smoke break one day. So I know that she is, loves cigarettes. And so one time I brought cigarettes like in my pocket and I let them hang out a little bit. And you know, I don't even smoke cigarettes.

• 32:14Brooke Averick?

  Good thinking.

• 32:15Connor Wood?

Thanks. And I was just like, look, like I'm gonna, I'm by all means necessary, like I'm gonna get her on my side. I don't even know why.

• 32:24Connor Wood?

But I got her to smile today and I'll continue to work on that.

• 32:27Brooke Averick?

  Very good.

• 32:28Connor Wood?

Before I move in two weeks somehow.

• 32:30Brooke Averick?

  Do you have an apartment?

• 32:32Connor Wood?

Oh God, no. But my landlord did ask if I can move out a week early because they have a new person that's gonna move in. I said, I don't really understand what you mean by, would you, do you think it'd be possible for me to vacate a week early? How, like make that make sense to you?

• 32:47Brooke Averick?

Make that make sense to you. I get that. She wants you to leave a week early.

• 32:53Connor Wood?

I know, but like, I know it makes sense to her, but like, in what world can you ask someone that signed a lease to move out a week early?

• 33:01Brooke Averick?

  Did you say no?

• 33:02Connor Wood?

Yeah, I said, I don't have a place to live, but if anything changes on my end, I'll let you know and we can figure out what that looks like. So now I've left it. Like you can pay me back one fourth of my rent.

• 33:14Brooke Averick?

  Good job.

• 33:15Connor Wood?

Thanks. I was proud of myself for that.

• 33:17Brooke Averick?

  That's good. That's a good thing.

• 33:18Connor Wood?

I toured my second place. That was so, so, so awesome. Such cool vibe. And they said, you're not allowed to have anyone over to your apartment. And I said, at all? And they said, 100% at all. The neighbors are very specific. I go, what? They have, what do you mean? And they're like, yeah, they're just very specific. And I was like,

• 33:41Brooke Averick?

Why are the neighbors ruling the entire place?

• 33:44Connor Wood?

I don't know. And I didn't even bring up, like, can I have, I wasn't like, oh, can I entertain here? They're like, just heads up, like, you can't bring anyone over to your apartment. And I was like, I'm confused, like, why a broker is telling me that.

• 33:55Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 33:56Connor Wood?

  What happened here before me?

• 34:56Connor Wood?

  By the way, no fridge.

• 34:58Brooke Averick?

There, oh my god, that just happened. Marshall's moving to New York and he sent a video of his new apartment. He was like, this is my new apartment. He wasn't there, he was just getting the video from a realtor. And I said, Marshall, there's no fridge. And he didn't, he had not realized that.

• 35:17Connor Wood?

  Two apartments.

• 35:17Brooke Averick?

Not even a place for a fridge. Unless he wanted it in his bedroom that was also, it's a studio. So it was one small room and a kitchen that I don't think I would have even fit in. I think just for like a few, few thousand dollars. And like the fridge genuinely, if you wanted, you could either pick one, fridge or bed.

• 35:38Connor Wood?

  What would you prefer?

• 35:40Brooke Averick?

  Definitely bed.

• 35:42Connor Wood?

Yeah, um, two places I've toured. No fridge. And then one place I toured, one place I toured, mini fridge.

• 35:51Brooke Averick?

Cause like everyone needs a fridge.

• 35:53Connor Wood?

It is kind of funny that that's not like a requirement.

• 35:55Brooke Averick?

Everyone needs a fridge, the same way everyone.

• 35:59Brooke Averick?

I would say it's like, it's right below shower, but like it is like kind of up there.

• 36:04Connor Wood?

People in Ireland, and I think London, somewhere, they don't put anything in the fridge. They have pantries.

• 36:11Brooke Averick?

What about food they need to put in the fridge?

• 36:14Connor Wood?

  What?

• 36:15Brooke Averick?

What about food they need to put in the fridge?

• 36:18Connor Wood?

I don't think that, I mean, they, if you're over, if you're over there in Ireland or, you know, no offense. I know that some people from there listen to this.

• 36:27Connor Wood?

  Your food sucks.

• 36:29Brooke Averick?

What if they need to buy meat?

• 36:30Connor Wood?

I think that they just eat it right away.

• 36:33Brooke Averick?

  I don't know about that.

• 36:34Connor Wood?

It's really bad, no offense to you guys, like, sorry, I did not, I was not like, I was pretty much like withering away while I was over there.

• 36:43Brooke Averick?

I want to go to Ireland one day.

• 36:45Connor Wood?

It was bad. I told you that one night where like, finally I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go have like a meal. Like I need to have a meal, I need to have like a big steak. Again, I was like out of nutrients, like I was low in iron, my blood sugar was plummeting. And I was like, I'm gonna go have a steak and a Caesar salad. Like that's what I need to have right now. Like that's gonna bring me back, and a diet coke. No ice. My steak comes out, it's carpaccio, so it's paper thin, the steak, they cut it up like this and it's paper thin.

• 37:14Brooke Averick?

  Raw?

• 37:14Connor Wood?

And I don't know, room temp. And then the Caesar salad comes out.

• 37:23Connor Wood?

Just like, it looked like they had just cast a net into a very shallow pond and caught every little fish they could find and stacked them up, almost like, yeah, almost like cartoon style stack of fish on top of the salad. And so like one by one, I moved, I removed these like little metallic anchovies just like off my plate. And I'm like, maybe, maybe, like, now that I've removed them. No. I mean, the whole thing was like, and I know that there's, I know that there's anchovies in Caesar salad, but like, the less I know, the better. Like, seeing that pile and then just moving them over to the plate, like, I could taste it though, you know, like, I don't want to taste, no, I don't want to taste fish on a Caesar salad.

• 38:08Brooke Averick?

I get it, man. I wouldn't want, I wouldn't want that either. Did you hear that? It was my stomach.

• 38:14Connor Wood?

What's going on with your stomach? Oh.

• 38:15Brooke Averick?

  It's making tooting sounds.

• 38:18Connor Wood?

Your subscription was renewed this week.

• 38:20Brooke Averick?

  My subscription?

• 38:21Connor Wood?

  To your monthly.

• 38:23Brooke Averick?

Oh, nice. I think this is separate.

• 38:27Connor Wood?

  Oh. I mean,

• 38:29Brooke Averick?

There's so many things going on. It's incredible. It's incredible how many things can go on in the same body.

• 38:35Connor Wood?

  Yeah, I agree.

• 38:36Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 38:38Connor Wood?

  Um.

• 38:38Brooke Averick?

Maybe you could read Lena Dunham's

• 38:41Connor Wood?

  I bought it.

• 38:41Brooke Averick?

Memoir. I just started listening to the audiobook. It's incredible.

• 38:45Connor Wood?

Mine came in, it came in yesterday.

• 38:47Brooke Averick?

  Okay.

• 38:47Connor Wood?

Pretty excited. I've heard it's like, I heard it's crazy.

• 38:50Brooke Averick?

I'm so excited. I love her.

• 38:52Connor Wood?

She's so funny. Just the way she writes stuff is just like, they keep clipping things and like headlining things. And it's like, not the way she wrote it. Like she said that Adam Driver threw a chair at a wall next to her head.

• 39:03Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 39:03Connor Wood?

But it was like, and then someone was like, no, that's the relationship they had with their work. And like, they were just like, very in the moment. And I was like, Brooke, could you imagine we're podcasting so hard that I throw a chair at you?

• 39:14Brooke Averick?

I'm, I want, I'm excited to get to that part because I've only seen the headlines. So I'm wondering like, what she actually said.

• 39:21Connor Wood?

No, I mean, it was quoted word for word. It was just like, no, but she was like, we were so passionate about this. Like, that's what the work was like. And like, I could see Adam Driver's character throwing a chair.

• 39:32Connor Wood?

  At her.

• 39:32Brooke Averick?

The headline like painted it like Lena like had a big problem with him.

• 39:37Connor Wood?

No, but that's not what she meant.

• 39:38Brooke Averick?

Right. So I'm excited to see what she meant.

• 39:40Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 39:40Brooke Averick?

  When I got there.

• 39:43Connor Wood?

I had something happen last week. That's pretty funny. I was home all week last week. My dad had surgery, so we were just like in and out, just like he had to stay at the hospital for like a couple of days.

• 39:51Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 39:51Connor Wood?

And so the nurses came in, it was like new nurses that I had not seen. And they come in and they're like, hey, we need, would you do us a favor to me? Cause I was the only one in the room besides my dad. Would you sign as a witness? And I was like, oh my God, what are they about? Are they about to pull? My dad's awake. I was like, you know, like, what are you about to ask me to do? They're like, can you come to another room? The, the patients next door need a witness on a non-resuscitation, like a no resuscitation. Do not resuscitate form.

• 40:29Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 40:30Connor Wood?

And I was like, you want me?

• 40:35Connor Wood?

Sure. Yeah. I never get picked to, you know? And um, so I'm like, okay, yeah, I'll go. And like on my way out, I was like, should we do a swap? Do they want to come in and sign for him? About my dad.

• 40:49Brooke Averick?

Was the person that they were signing about like awake?

• 40:53Connor Wood?

I didn't look at the person in the bed.

• 40:56Brooke Averick?

  Okay.

• 40:58Connor Wood?

I was just, the, the story is about, and I'm realizing that I haven't even heard anyone laugh or you haven't smiled or anything like.

• 41:03Brooke Averick?

Well, I'm just like mostly curious.

• 41:06Connor Wood?

Yeah, I didn't want to look cause the, you know, like everyone's kind of naked and in bed, you know?

• 41:10Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 41:12Connor Wood?

But I did a little, like, I was like, oh, you know, cause in situations like that, like I have a hard time not being a wise guy. And like, I do need to like make light of everything, which is like not really my place when I'm signing a do not resuscitate form for someone else as a witness.

• 41:27Brooke Averick?

  Sure.

• 41:28Connor Wood?

But I was like, oh, should we do a swaparoo? Should we have someone come in here and sign for him? And I was like, you want? And no one, not even randomly, my dad didn't think that that was funny.

• 41:35Brooke Averick?

  Okay. Yeah, that's hard.

• 41:38Brooke Averick?

It's like a read the room situation.

• 41:40Connor Wood?

Yeah, no, no, no, I didn't, you know, at, at that time, like, I hadn't really been talking, I had only really been reading Stoner.

• 41:47Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 41:47Connor Wood?

For like, days on end, so, I wasn't brushed up on the room.

• 41:53Brooke Averick?

  Right, understood.

• 41:55Connor Wood?

Um, and I asked them, I was like, can I talk about this on my podcast? And they were like, like, you're not on, under hippo, only we are. So I was like, okay, cool.

• 42:06Connor Wood?

  Can't hurt.

• 42:07Brooke Averick?

  Can't hurt.

• 42:09Connor Wood?

Um, and then also last week, I saw the craziest tweet while I was at home.

• 42:12Brooke Averick?

  What?

• 42:14Connor Wood?

Oh, because you know, when you're, you're telling your parents who like, they've had iPhones as long as I've had an iPhone, you know, like, I didn't grow up with technology in the way that kids are now, you know, like, we didn't grow up with an iPhone.

• 42:30Brooke Averick?

  Right.

• 42:30Connor Wood?

  You know what I mean?

• 42:31Brooke Averick?

  I do.

• 42:31Connor Wood?

Like, my parents got an iPhone the same day I got an iPhone. We got the family.

• 42:34Brooke Averick?

  That's such a good point.

• 42:37Connor Wood?

Like, so when they say things, I'm like, we've had the same amount of time with these devices, like, what do you mean? How do I screenshot this?

• 42:45Brooke Averick?

Right. That's such a good point. And why has that never been brought up before?

• 42:51Connor Wood?

I don't, I don't know, like, and I get that, like, yeah, we're completely fried. And yeah, we have, so I guess, like, the saying is probably more aimed towards social media, which like, they don't spend all day on, but like, they do, because they send me reels of like, dogs dancing and things and AI all day. And like, random vitamins I should be taking, but, um, I read this tweet the other day, are you ready?

• 43:16Brooke Averick?

  I'm ready.

• 43:16Connor Wood?

For the heaviness that will, that will be bestowed upon you in about T minus 10?

• 43:19Brooke Averick?

  I'm ready.

• 43:21Connor Wood?

Oh, man, I gotta read it. Oh, crap, that sucks. Hang on, I have it.

• 43:25Brooke Averick?

  That's fine.

• 43:26Connor Wood?

Okay, because I don't want to mess it up, because it was, it was really well-written.

• 43:30Brooke Averick?

  Your tweet.

• 43:31Connor Wood?

And I was like, oh, wow, that's gonna be, that's gonna be a banger on the pod. Let me find it. I know exactly what it looks like, so don't worry.

• 43:44Brooke Averick?

I'm gonna put my mic to my stomach so you can hear this.

• 43:48Connor Wood?

Yeah, I would actually, I found it.

• 43:49Brooke Averick?

  Okay, never mind.

• 43:51Connor Wood?

My mom recently asked how to take a screenshot. At first I laughed, but then I remembered she taught me how to tie my shoes.

• 43:59Connor Wood?

You know, because it's like, what dumb, you don't know how to tie your shoes, like, instead of getting frustrated, you just teach them over and over and over again and...

• 44:06Brooke Averick?

  I get it.

• 44:06Connor Wood?

  Oh, that's really sweet.

• 44:09Brooke Averick?

  It is sweet. Full circle.

• 44:11Connor Wood?

You have some patience, have some grace.

• 44:12Brooke Averick?

  Thank you for sharing.

• 44:13Connor Wood?

  Yeah. Yeah, I'm happy to.

• 44:18Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 44:18Connor Wood?

  I'm really happy to.

• 44:22Brooke Averick?

In like, more pop culture news.

• 44:24Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 44:26Brooke Averick?

The casting for Emily Henry's Beach Read.

• 44:30Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 44:30Brooke Averick?

Has come out and people are so pissed. I don't think I've ever seen

• 44:39Brooke Averick?

  people as pissed

• 44:42Brooke Averick?

over an announcement, a casting announcement. But it's, we knew Phoebe, how do you say her last name? Denver?

• 44:50Connor Wood?

  Oh, I love her.

• 44:51Brooke Averick?

We knew Phoebe Deeb was gonna be in it. We did not know who was gonna play Gus, who is a beloved character to many. And it is gonna go ahead and be Patrick S.

• 45:00Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 45:01Brooke Averick?

As in Patrick Schwarzenegger. And people are very upset. And you might be wondering how I'm feeling.

• 45:11Connor Wood?

  We talked about this.

• 45:13Brooke Averick?

  Privately.

• 45:14Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 45:14Brooke Averick?

Yeah, but you might be wondering how I'm feeling publicly.

• 45:17Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 45:18Brooke Averick?

Um, here's the thing, here's what I'll say about this.

• 45:21Connor Wood?

Ooh, are you, are you actually gonna say something right now?

• 45:24Brooke Averick?

Yeah, I'm gonna say what I, just what I said to you.

• 45:26Connor Wood?

  Okay.

• 45:26Brooke Averick?

Which I don't remember what it was necessarily. But I will say that I've read four Emily Henry books and Beach Read is my least favorite, so I don't have that much skin in the game, because I'm kind of just like, whatever, I didn't connect to Gus as much as everyone else did.

• 45:46Brooke Averick?

So I don't have the passion that a lot of people have about this. I... Started White Lotus and it's I know it's different because this is a rom com and I also kind of have trouble seeing him as a leading man romantically but I started White Lotus being like this fucking guy you know and then kind of ended like with such a soft spot for him that I have hope that the same thing could happen in this fingers crossed I do I'm I have hope I'm not like excited about it like I don't really see the vision but I'm holding out hope and that's what I have to say like I'm not calling it off completely I I'm hopeful that he could

• 46:28Brooke Averick?

surprise us that's what I'll say I don't see it

• 46:36Connor Wood?

  I said to you

• 46:37Brooke Averick?

  At all but I'm hopeful

• 46:41Connor Wood?

I said to you yeah I don't think I don't I mean I I just said to you I don't think he has rom com and I don't either has too much for rom com or not enough for rom com and I don't know what it is he could also surprise me

• 46:51Brooke Averick?

Right I I'm hopeful that he could surprise me like he did in White Lotus um so

• 46:59Connor Wood?

  Did someone just vibrate?

• 47:00Brooke Averick?

  What?

• 47:01Connor Wood?

  Did someone just vibrate?

• 47:03Brooke Averick?

  Me probably

• 47:06Connor Wood?

Your phone is sounding like an or your stomach is sounding like a notification?

• 47:09Brooke Averick?

  My phone is on silent

• 47:12Connor Wood?

Oh wow I'm getting phantom vibrations

• 47:16Brooke Averick?

Um obviously there's a lot of heated rivalry lookalike contests but there was this one recently where the winners looked more like Shane and Ilya than Hudson and Connor did and now they're dating

• 47:33Connor Wood?

Yeah I saw that because I was confused why they were making out at a hockey game and I was like wait what are they doing promo for?

• 47:41Brooke Averick?

They won the freaking contest and now they're dating and they look more like Shane and Ilya than Shane and Ilya do it's incredible and I wish them nothing but an entire lifetime of success and happiness

• 47:57Connor Wood?

I heard it's for I heard it's just for like fun like I don't think they're actually dating

• 48:04Brooke Averick?

  Yes they are

• 48:06Connor Wood?

  I don't think they are

• 48:06Brooke Averick?

  Yes they are

• 48:08Connor Wood?

Because they weren't dating before the thing

• 48:09Brooke Averick?

No they weren't this is how they met wow that's look at them is that not insane?

• 48:18Connor Wood?

I can't, can we make them, computer, can we make them bigger?

• 48:24Connor Wood?

No, it is really like crazy.

• 48:27Brooke Averick?

I think they are dating. There's been interviews with them.

• 48:30Connor Wood?

I know, I'm sure it would be very fun to pop off like this and then be invited and put on the jumbo.

• 48:36Brooke Averick?

You, you can't fake shit like this. You just can't.

• 48:41Connor Wood?

  I don't know.

• 48:42Brooke Averick?

  No.

• 48:44Brooke Averick?

  They, they are the moment.

• 48:49Brooke Averick?

  That's crazy.

• 48:50Connor Wood?

  Did you see, what?

• 48:51Brooke Averick?

  I said, that's crazy.

• 48:53Connor Wood?

No, I know. It's, it's kind of like, um, uncanny valley.

• 48:58Brooke Averick?

  Yeah. Nice.

• 49:02Connor Wood?

  Thanks.

• 49:04Brooke Averick?

  Hi.

• 49:04Connor Wood?

Um, I can't believe you didn't go to Coachella. Everyone went to Coachella.

• 49:08Brooke Averick?

  I had BookCon.

• 49:10Connor Wood?

  What?

• 49:10Brooke Averick?

  I had BookCon. The Coachella.

• 49:12Connor Wood?

No, I know. It's just weird because everyone was there.

• 49:15Brooke Averick?

Oh, we didn't even talk about Coachella.

• 49:17Connor Wood?

No, I know. It's, this has been a hard, harder episode because I'm trying not to talk about stuff we've already talked about and we, we recorded, we, because we technically did, we did the three shows that were also like shooting the shit and then we recorded as well. So, and then we took, last week, we just didn't do an episode. So like, I'm confused what we did or didn't do.

• 49:35Brooke Averick?

We didn't talk about Co- Coachella, um, because it didn't, Coachella, because it didn't happen.

• 49:41Connor Wood?

  What do you mean?

• 49:43Brooke Averick?

We've been seeing each other since Coachella happened.

• 49:48Connor Wood?

  Oh, either Coachella's?

• 49:50Brooke Averick?

  Yes.

• 49:52Connor Wood?

  Oh, that's really crazy.

• 49:53Brooke Averick?

  I think.

• 49:55Connor Wood?

  No.

• 49:55Brooke Averick?

No, that's wrong. No, it's right. We left each other on Saturday. So we left each other before Justin Bieber's first performance.

• 50:07Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 50:09Brooke Averick?

Which I loved. I can't watch a lot of it because it's making me upset that I wasn't there.

• 50:17Brooke Averick?

But I would have killed to be there. I love Justin. A lot of people don't know that. I'm a huge believer.

• 50:24Connor Wood?

Yeah, I'm a huge, huge Justin Bieber fan. I've been a Justin Bieber fan. You can scroll way back in my TikTok. I have posted Justin Bieber songs over and over and over again from 2020, like when I downloaded TikTok.

• 50:35Connor Wood?

I'm not a fan of this. Like, I get that, like, these catalog things.

• 50:39Brooke Averick?

What do you mean you're not a fan of this?

• 50:39Connor Wood?

I wasn't a fan of playing YouTube. Like, I'm sorry. Like, I'm not. I know that it was, like, performance art and whatever, but like, I'm sorry. Like, and I know that people are gonna get mad at me. I'm a fan of him, okay? I think this, like, this, I don't know, these things are like, like, Sabrina Carpenter goes out there and puts on a show.

• 50:58Brooke Averick?

  Well, she's a showgirl.

• 51:00Connor Wood?

  I know, but like,

• 51:02Connor Wood?

there's something about people. Okay. And I'm not talking about Justin Bieber for this, but like, I think this thing where celebrities are like, you know, like, he played the YouTube videos because he just sold his catalog and that was an out for him. He didn't, he wasn't technically performing the song, so like, he could still profit off of his performance and not split the revenue with the people that bought his catalog of music.

• 51:24Brooke Averick?

  What?

• 51:26Connor Wood?

So like, that was a loophole around him having to pay the labels for performing those songs.

• 51:33Brooke Averick?

  He sang with them.

• 51:36Connor Wood?

But he wasn't like, I don't know, there was some loophole there about like, playing the videos, whatever. And then he, the songs that he owns swag, that's why he did so many of those.

• 51:45Brooke Averick?

  Are you sure?

• 51:47Connor Wood?

  I'm 90.

• 51:48Brooke Averick?

  Okay.

• 51:50Connor Wood?

My whole thing, and again, this is about him.

• 51:53Brooke Averick?

What he did performing, he sang with the YouTube songs.

• 51:56Connor Wood?

Well, maybe it wasn't just like all of them. I don't know.

• 51:59Brooke Averick?

He sang with all of them.

• 52:02Connor Wood?

  Izzy, can we double check?

• 52:04Brooke Averick?

That's not true. He didn't need a loophole to perform his old Coachella material.

• 52:08Connor Wood?

Okay, well, I lied then. Sorry.

• 52:09Brooke Averick?

  That's fine to do.

• 52:10Connor Wood?

What I do on this, on this podcast is spread misinformation, then we double check, and I'm always wrong. That's okay.

• 52:15Brooke Averick?

  That's fine.

• 52:16Connor Wood?

Because maybe someone else thought that. And now, because that's not true, I have more ground to stand on that I think if you're being paid $10 million, give the people a show. Sorry. I think it's a little bit like.

• 52:30Brooke Averick?

I haven't heard anything negative from anybody that was at Coachella.

• 52:35Connor Wood?

  Okay.

• 52:36Brooke Averick?

Everybody who was there was like, this was the best thing that's ever happened to me.

• 52:40Connor Wood?

I think we have different people on our feed.

• 52:43Brooke Averick?

You had people at Coachella that didn't like it?

• 52:46Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 52:47Brooke Averick?

And I also think he really amped it up for Week in Two.

• 52:50Connor Wood?

Yeah, I was gonna say, if I was at Week in One versus Week in Two, I'd be upset.

• 52:53Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, but...

• 52:55Connor Wood?

Because SZA coming on and then Billie Eilish coming on, that was cool. But that's all I'll say. I would have wanted more of a show. I would have wanted more of like a Sabrina Carpenter.

• 53:05Brooke Averick?

  That's just not Justin.

• 53:07Connor Wood?

I know, I know, but 10... Just like, when, when people get paid all this money and I know that that's the stature that they're in and all, this is what they deserve, like, I just want more, you know, like, and I'm not one to like, give grace to people because they are a massive celebrity and like, it's, um, like, nostalgic for people to still like, go see them on there. I know people had fun, whatever, I'm sorry, I like...

• 53:31Brooke Averick?

It's fine. A lot of people feel that way too, I just don't.

• 53:35Connor Wood?

I know. I think that it could be because you like, grew up as a believer and a fan of, like, you know what I mean?

• 53:42Brooke Averick?

But I did, but I wasn't like, no, I wasn't... I didn't feel the same way about Justin that I did about One Direction. Like, I loved Justin, but I didn't have any posters. I was just like more of a casual Justin fan. But I did grow up with him.

• 54:00Connor Wood?

  Yeah, I don't know.

• 54:02Brooke Averick?

But, I don't know, I feel like you're paying for the name and for him to perform at Coachella, and he did. He's just, he's not a showboy.

• 54:09Connor Wood?

I know, I know. I would just want more.

• 54:14Brooke Averick?

That's fine. It's fine to want.

• 54:17Connor Wood?

I know. The flesh desires what the flesh desires, no?

• 54:22Brooke Averick?

  Your flesh wanted more?

• 54:24Connor Wood?

My, my flesh wanted more from, from him.

• 54:27Brooke Averick?

  That's fair.

• 54:29Connor Wood?

That's why I talk now after reading Stoner.

• 54:31Brooke Averick?

I get that. We've got to find you your bridge book.

• 54:34Connor Wood?

No, full blown, if I wouldn't have started Dungeon Crawler Carl, like, it's, which is, by the way, impossible to say every time I say it, like, I skipped like three, three vowels.

• 54:43Brooke Averick?

Well, actually, the first one is Dungeon Crawler Carl. Do you know the names of the other one?

• 54:48Connor Wood?

  You can't say it either.

• 54:49Brooke Averick?

  What?

• 54:49Connor Wood?

  What?

• 54:49Brooke Averick?

  What?

• 54:51Connor Wood?

  You can't say it either.

• 54:51Brooke Averick?

  Dungeon Crawler Carl?

• 54:53Connor Wood?

  Oh, now you can.

• 54:54Brooke Averick?

But listen to the names of the other ones in the series. You ready?

• 54:58Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 54:58Brooke Averick?

First is Dungeon Crawler Carl. Then two, Carl's Doomsday Scenario. That's fine. Then three, the Dungeon Anarchist Cookbook.

• 55:10Brooke Averick?

Okay. Four is the Gate of the Feral Gods. Five, I love, which is the Butcher's Masquerade.

• 55:20Brooke Averick?

Six is the Eye of the Bedlam Bride.

• 55:23Connor Wood?

  I don't like these. I shouldn't. Why did I do this?

• 55:25Brooke Averick?

  Seven is the Inevitable Ruin.

• 55:29Brooke Averick?

And eight is a Parade of Horribles.

• 55:31Connor Wood?

What did I get myself into?

• 55:32Brooke Averick?

  Um, I-

• 55:34Connor Wood?

  Eight books?

• 55:34Brooke Averick?

  It could be amazing.

• 55:39Connor Wood?

I don't know, man. It sounds like, um,

• 55:43Connor Wood?

  something Inferno. What's it called?

• 55:45Brooke Averick?

  Dante's Inferno?

• 55:46Connor Wood?

  Dante's Inferno.

• 55:48Brooke Averick?

  I think it's very different.

• 55:51Connor Wood?

It's like levels to this shit.

• 55:54Brooke Averick?

  It was a video game.

• 55:56Connor Wood?

Dante's Inferno was levels of hell.

• 55:58Brooke Averick?

  Right. How many? Seven?

• 56:01Connor Wood?

  Seven. This is eight.

• 56:04Brooke Averick?

Oh, I don't think this is based off of the levels of hell.

• 56:08Connor Wood?

I'm gonna double check because it is like demons and- It's like demons and gargoyles and stuff.

• 56:13Brooke Averick?

  And Princess Donut.

• 56:15Connor Wood?

I know. I know that Princess Donut isn't like biblically accurate for Dante's Inferno. Dante's Inferno Dungeon Crawler Carl.

• 56:29Connor Wood?

This Reddit thread. So is Dungeon Crawler Carl somewhat inspired by a weird commentary in Dungeons Dante's Inferno?

• 56:39Connor Wood?

So is Dungeon Crawler Carl somewhat inspired or a weird commentary on Dante's Inferno? Answer? I don't know.

• 56:49Brooke Averick?

  D'Arto's Inferno.

• 56:49Connor Wood?

Features an 18 level post-apocalyptic dungeon that draws inspiration from Dante's Inferno.

• 56:55Brooke Averick?

I feel like maybe you just try Hell instead of Dante's Inferno.

• 57:00Connor Wood?

  It's saying it. Dante's Inferno.

• 57:03Brooke Averick?

No, but I tried Googling like, is Dungeon Crawler Carl based off of Hell?

• 57:07Connor Wood?

I did. The structure, like Dante's journey, Carl and Donna descend through increasingly dangerous levels, levels of Hell, parentheses, rather than traversing a flat landscape with Mordecai acting like a Virgil like God.

• 57:18Brooke Averick?

  Who's Mordecai?

• 57:19Connor Wood?

Who fuck? Oh, the Rat Man.

• 57:20Brooke Averick?

  Oh.

• 57:23Brooke Averick?

It's really reminding me of Gregor the Overlander.

• 57:27Connor Wood?

  Ugh.

• 57:30Brooke Averick?

  Did you read those?

• 57:31Connor Wood?

  No.

• 57:32Brooke Averick?

  Those were so good, Connor.

• 57:34Connor Wood?

That was like a cartoon book, right?

• 57:35Brooke Averick?

No, it was Suzanne Collins' books before Hunger Games.

• 57:41Brooke Averick?

Oh my god, I have like chills looking at the cover.

• 57:43Connor Wood?

  I did for a second.

• 57:47Brooke Averick?

  Wow.

• 57:49Brooke Averick?

Maybe you could read the new Hunger Games book.

• 57:51Connor Wood?

Did you see? Oh yeah, I could. Um, did you see they just, they, uh, wait, hey?

• 57:58Brooke Averick?

  Hi.

• 58:00Connor Wood?

Um, they were selling Aragon in the front of Barnes and Noble when I went.

• 58:05Brooke Averick?

  Really?

• 58:06Connor Wood?

  Yeah, how crazy is that?

• 58:07Brooke Averick?

Did you read, you read Aragon, right?

• 58:08Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 58:09Brooke Averick?

  I never read Aragon.

• 58:10Connor Wood?

And I really liked the movies.

• 58:12Brooke Averick?

There's no Aragon movies, is there?

• 58:15Connor Wood?

  Oh.

• 58:16Brooke Averick?

There's no Aragon movies, which is kind of crazy, unless there are.

• 58:20Connor Wood?

  Totally is.

• 58:22Brooke Averick?

  There are. Appreciate it.

• 58:23Connor Wood?

  And it was good.

• 58:24Brooke Averick?

Who is the, who plays the guy? Who's that boy?

• 58:29Brooke Averick?

Oh, Ed Spleers? Ed Spleers? I don't know him. He looks like Taran Edgerton.

• 58:37Connor Wood?

He totally does. Um, and then this just reminded me too, because this just came out over the weekend and this was supposed to be, I was gonna put this in with the, um... Colin Hoover thing, they just announced the new Meet the Fockers.

• 58:52Brooke Averick?

  I can't wait.

• 58:54Connor Wood?

Them and Ariana Grande. And I do, this, this gets a pass from me because I do think Ariana Grande is like extremely funny and she's like a obviously good actress, but like she's funny. Like, I always forget that about her, but it does pull me out a little bit and Meet the Fockers is like so one of my favorites.

• 59:12Brooke Averick?

Brilliant. I love Ben Stiller so much. He was my first age inappropriate crush.

• 59:19Connor Wood?

  Ben Stiller?

• 59:20Brooke Averick?

  Yeah.

• 59:21Connor Wood?

How old were you when you had a crush on Ben?

• 59:23Brooke Averick?

• 59:24Connor Wood?

  And he was?

• 59:26Brooke Averick?

  Older. For like 40s, 50s, I don't know.

• 59:30Connor Wood?

  Wait, you know what's crazy?

• 59:31Brooke Averick?

  What?

• 59:32Connor Wood?

  Did you watch Full House?

• 59:33Brooke Averick?

  Yeah, of course.

• 59:34Connor Wood?

Did you know that if they filmed it today, Uncle Jesse would have been born in 2003?

• 59:41Brooke Averick?

  What do you mean?

• 59:42Connor Wood?

Uncle Jesse was 23 in that show.

• 59:45Brooke Averick?

  No.

• 59:47Connor Wood?

So he would have been born in 2003.

• 59:49Brooke Averick?

  Uncle Jesse was 23?

• 59:51Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 59:53Brooke Averick?

  No.

• 59:54Connor Wood?

  Tough not to swallow.

• 59:55Brooke Averick?

  Sick.

• 59:56Connor Wood?

  Yeah.

• 59:57Brooke Averick?

I, what's stressing me out now is you know how there's all those TikToks? It's like, don't stress, you're only in season one of Friends.

• 1:00:03Connor Wood?

  No, you're not.

• 1:00:04Brooke Averick?

No, I'm saying like, that's, that those used to comfort me and now it's like, no, I'm like season eight now.

• 1:00:12Connor Wood?

Baby, I'm moving out of the city.

• 1:00:13Brooke Averick?

Baby, like what happens once I'm, once I'm past season 10?

• 1:00:18Connor Wood?

  Guess what, baby?

• 1:00:18Brooke Averick?

  What baby?

• 1:00:19Connor Wood?

You're in the first season of Grey's Anatomy.

• 1:00:22Brooke Averick?

That's true, baby. And then everyone dies in that show.

• 1:00:27Connor Wood?

Yep. Everyone dies everywhere, all the time.

• 1:00:30Brooke Averick?

Nice. Let's call that a wrap and, and the podcast for today.

• 1:00:36Connor Wood?

Can I give myself a pat on the back that I did not bring up anything doom and gloom today?

• 1:00:41Brooke Averick?

Oh my God, pat yourself on the back.

• 1:00:43Connor Wood?

No war. I didn't talk about UFOs at all. Thank you.

• 1:00:48Brooke Averick?

It's really hard because I went into a comment spiral recently as in I was reading them, which I'm really good at not doing, but slipped recently. And we can't win because sometimes it's like, I need Connor to stop talking about this. This is not why I watch the podcast. And sometimes it's Brooke really needs to let Connor talk about this. Like, he's so politically aware woke king and she's really like damping, putting a damper on him being a woke king. And it's like, you can't win. Here's what I'm saying. We can't win. And so we just truly have to do what feels good. And so if you want to talk about doom and gloom, then you can, is what I'm saying.

• 1:01:28Connor Wood?

Well, only talk about it if it comes across my desk and I'm really worried about something. But guess what? I'm also going to put a funny light spin on it. So if that's upsetting, I do encourage you to just fast forward by 30 seconds.

• 1:01:40Brooke Averick?

  Okay.

• 1:01:42Connor Wood?

It is everyone's, it is everyone's right to not like a bit of what we do. That's totally okay.

• 1:01:49Brooke Averick?

  That's so true, Connor.

• 1:01:52Connor Wood?

Yeah. And thank you guys for watching.

• 1:01:55Brooke Averick?

  Okay.

• 1:01:55Connor Wood?

On that note, by the way.

• 1:01:56Brooke Averick?

  Well, see you later.

• 1:01:57Connor Wood?

Negative feedback is not welcome or constructive criticism, never welcome. So we'll see you next week, unless you're watching the bonus and we'll see you in right now. See ya.

• 1:02:05Brooke Averick?

  See ya.
