• 0:00Matt Farah?

What's up everybody, welcome to the Smoking Tire Podcast. This is Matt Farah and we are, as always, brought to you today by Off the Record. I love Off the Record because they are looking out for me and they are looking out for you. Every day when we are on the highway together, presumably, we might do one or two things that go slightly outside what's printed on the signs. And when that happens and you get caught, don't plead guilty because it's not just about paying that fine and moving on. These things follow you. Your insurance, potentially your employment, who knows what else. You don't want points on your record. That's why Off the Record is called what they're called.

• 0:45Matt Farah?

They send a qualified attorney to fight any moving violation you might get. And as a result, almost all of the time, Off the Record keeps those points from your record. All you have to do is go to offtherecord.com/tst and upload a photo or a scan of the ticket along with a brief description of what happened and where it happened. Off the Record will then connect you with a qualified attorney who will fight that ticket for you. You don't have to go back and go to court. In fact, you don't have to do anything. And in the best case of scenario, you just get a text or an email a couple of months later that say, "Hey, by the way, that thing that you've forgotten about, it's gone now."

• 1:30Matt Farah?

Occasionally, it's not quite that good, but usually, in my experience, the resulting text or follow-up email is good news. So, go to offtherecord.com/tst to get 10% off all legal services booked through Off the Record. That's offtherecord.com/tst. 10% off from everything at Off the Record. Now, let's get on with today's show. This is a cool one because Eric Kendricks is a heavy hitter, if you know about NFL football, which...

• 2:10Matt Farah?

I don't. I imagine he's very good at the foosball. But that's not why he's here. It's because in his spare time, he's basically also a car influencer and a really good entertaining one at that. And so Eric is awesome and we have a great 90 minute chat about his incredibly interesting car collection, which is a Fox body. He's got a Viper. He's got a Porsche. He's got the stuff that we all want and this is a great chat. And yeah, also they tell me the guy plays some football. Eric Kendricks is in studio with us. It's the Smoking Tire. Let's go.

• 2:54Matt Farah?

That's the show. Here we are. Eric, welcome. You've all, you, you made, you made quite a statement by rolling up in the correct vehicle.

• 3:02Speaker 01

And it was, it was just in my garage too.

• 3:04Matt Farah?

  It was just there?

• 3:05Speaker 01

I mean, I had just like, kind of brought it for the week.

• 3:07Matt Farah?

  It was on rotation?

• 3:08Speaker 01

I honestly forgot that I was on this until like midweek and I was like, wait, I think I have something on Friday. Checked in. So I was just, perfect coincidence.

• 3:15Matt Farah?

Yes. You rolled up in a, in a 93 notchback, black, black with the correct sounding cam, the correct looking wheels. And when you're tired of this vehicle, you give your friend Matt.

• 3:30Matt Farah?

We will make, we will make a, that's, so you can see me in the photo that Zach took right there just going, yeah. It's basically the adult version of the car that I built like 10 years ago.

• 3:41Speaker 02

  It really is.

• 3:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:43Speaker 01

It was gonna go two ways, you know, I feel like keep it, keep it kind of super clean OEM plus.

• 3:47Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:47Speaker 01

Gotta go hard on it. But they, they make, they make chassis for them now or like the racing chassis. I don't know if you saw that.

• 3:53Matt Farah?

Maximum Motorsports, they have a full aftermarket independent rear suspension, if that's what you mean.

• 3:58Speaker 01

I'm talking about like an actual, I forgot who makes it.

• 4:01Matt Farah?

  I had a Tubular K-member front thing.

• 4:04Speaker 01

No, they make a full like.

• 4:06Matt Farah?

Like front to back. Oh, you just.

• 4:08Speaker 02

  Roadster shop.

• 4:09Matt Farah?

  Oh, Roadster shop.

• 4:10Speaker 02

  I mean, among others, but.

• 4:12Speaker 01

  It's nuts.

• 4:12Matt Farah?

Oh, Fox body's about to get expensive.

• 4:17Speaker 01

They just look so good, you know, I feel like, I mean.

• 4:20Matt Farah?

I would like a roadster shop chassis.

• 4:22Speaker 01

But I felt like I was just, I was wait, I was looking for one for years.

• 4:25Matt Farah?

Real quick, we had this, the only thing that's up that works on this webpage is the price tag. It's just a white fucking thing.

• 4:34Speaker 02

That's what you're supposed to see, and then you click it, and then it goes nowhere.

• 4:37Matt Farah?

It's gone. If a company has a website that bad, you know their products must be real good.

• 4:42Speaker 02

I read the fabrication's excellent. That's what they're focused on.

• 4:48Matt Farah?

You, they keep telling me that you play football, but if you look at all of your social media, you're actually a car influencer. Like, also plays some football on the side, kind of.

• 4:57Speaker 01

It was like, I feel like this offseason, I mean, the, like, early in my career, I was kind of nervous to lean into the car thing, because I wanted to be like, I'm focused, I'm humble, I don't know, like, all this fake, you know.

• 5:08Matt Farah?

Your cars are awesome, but your cars are so awesome, and, and I don't think, I think people who know cars, you're not, you're not buying like, poser, rich guy shit. You're, but you got a first gen Viper.

• 5:20Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 5:20Matt Farah?

You rolled up here in a Fox body, you've got a Skyline, like, these are, these are cars of people that like, they know what they're looking for. You don't.

• 5:29Speaker 01

  I appreciate that.

• 5:29Matt Farah?

You don't buy a first gen Viper, because like, the guys in the locker room told you that was cool. Like, that's not, unless I'm wrong.

• 5:37Speaker 01

  It was actually my grandpa's.

• 5:38Matt Farah?

Get the fuck out of here.

• 5:39Speaker 02

  Exactly.

• 5:40Speaker 01

So, so like, so I kind of grew up knowing my grandpa had the car, and like, you know, as I, as I got older and I went to, was able to go visit him, because we lived in different states. It was like, in bad shape. It was in the garage, it was, it was on, you know, flat tires, had, had mice and stuff running through it. So I, I gotta, I gotta like, take it over and kind of just clean it up to where it's at now.

• 6:01Matt Farah?

Did your grandpa ever have a time where he was like, cool Viper guy?

• 6:05Speaker 01

  Yeah, I mean.

• 6:06Matt Farah?

And then he just stopped driving at some point?

• 6:07Speaker 01

  For sure.

• 6:08Matt Farah?

  Always garage.

• 6:09Speaker 01

No, he, he, he drove it to work and, and back every single day. I mean.

• 6:12Matt Farah?

  Daily to Viper.

• 6:13Speaker 01

He daily, his work was super close, so, I mean, you know, it still has pretty low mileage, so.

• 6:18Matt Farah?

  That, alright, that's cool, grandpa.

• 6:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:20Matt Farah?

  Yeah, alright, and mice?

• 6:23Speaker 01

Yeah. I mean, we, we cleaned it up big time. Um, I, the first thing I did was like take out the seats and like scrub the interior and you know, painted, we did took the dash off and everything, um, but now it's like, I mean, there's little things that I've done to it now. I mean, we put new coils on it this off season, um, wheels, we put the gen two ACR wheels on it.

• 6:42Matt Farah?

Oh, that's what I thought, yeah, that's what I thought it was an ACR.

• 6:45Speaker 01

Still looks like, you know, like factory, um, shoot, airbox, spark plugs.

• 6:50Matt Farah?

Do that exhaust, I saw that video.

• 6:51Speaker 01

Fuel filter, just, just, just keeping it running, it's running so strong.

• 6:55Matt Farah?

Is your, is your, is your grandpa still with us?

• 6:57Speaker 01

  No, he passed away.

• 6:58Matt Farah?

Alright, so did you properly inherit the car?

• 7:00Speaker 01

I mean, he, he, I inherited the car, it kinda was just like my, my dad, uh, uh, he was kinda just telling me, this, this car is gonna be yours and I would kinda go visit my grandpa and I'm like, this car is in rough shape, like, you know, like, just stop telling me that unless you're like, unless it's like a real. Cause I don't know if this is real, so like, stop telling me that.

• 7:18Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 7:18Speaker 01

And then like, two weeks later, my aunt was like, hey, um, I'm gonna send you the title and then like, and then you like figure out shipping and so I figured out shipping, you know, got a battery, jumped it, got it on a flatbed, got it to Minnesota and then I just started.

• 7:32Matt Farah?

  Started right up?

• 7:33Speaker 01

  Started tinkering it, yeah.

• 7:34Matt Farah?

You put, you jumped in and started right up?

• 7:35Speaker 01

I would, I would, I wish it was that easy, you know, I wish it, but uh, but um, it's, I mean, now it's running so strong.

• 7:41Matt Farah?

Do you like, there it is.

• 7:42Speaker 01

I took it to Angels Crest, uh, last week.

• 7:44Matt Farah?

  Do you like driving it?

• 7:45Speaker 01

  I do.

• 7:46Matt Farah?

It's a real unique flavor of first gen Viper.

• 7:49Speaker 01

Especially with the new exhaust now, it feels like a proper like.

• 7:53Matt Farah?

Is it, what year is it?

• 7:55Speaker 01

  It's ninety-five.

• 7:56Matt Farah?

So does it have side pipes?

• 7:57Speaker 01

  Side pipes.

• 7:57Matt Farah?

It does have a side pipe, right? Does it have a hard top on, it's an RT with a hard top?

• 8:01Speaker 01

It's the one you take off.

• 8:02Matt Farah?

  Soft top?

• 8:03Speaker 01

It's, no, it's not a soft top, it's a hard top, but it comes off.

• 8:05Matt Farah?

Oh, yeah, a target top, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no exterior door handles?

• 8:09Speaker 01

No exterior door handles, gotta reach in, you know, it's all like, it, when it.

• 8:13Matt Farah?

  Glass windows?

• 8:14Speaker 01

  No.

• 8:15Matt Farah?

  No glass windows?

• 8:16Speaker 01

No windows. Insert, the window inserts.

• 8:18Matt Farah?

Oh, yeah, that's, he daily, grandpa daily that.

• 8:22Speaker 01

  It's all the quirky stuff.

• 8:23Matt Farah?

  That's fucking crazy.

• 8:24Speaker 01

The, I mean, I, it was dying the first like, it kept dying like after two days of me not starting it, so we had to get like a, a, a plug in for it.

• 8:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 8:32Speaker 01

And, uh, every time it died, the alarm tra, would trigger and. You have to take off-

• 8:38Matt Farah?

I bet you it was the alarm that was draining.

• 8:39Speaker 01

You had to take, you had to take off the rear wheel to get to the battery. It was, it was so annoying. It happened like three times until I finally like, okay, we gotta fix this.

• 8:48Matt Farah?

You had to put a hole and make a connector from the outside. Yeah.

• 8:51Speaker 01

  So now it's dialed.

• 8:52Matt Farah?

Dude, every couple of months, I see, you know, on Bring a Trailer or Cars and Bids or whatever, a first gen Viper that goes cheap. And I'm like, ooh, is now the time to get in on one of those things?

• 9:02Speaker 01

With, with the new exhaust and the little things that I've done to it, it's a different car. I mean, the brakes are still, you know, we, we, we, we got new brakes on it, but I would say the, I would be the next thing I do is upgrade the brakes, but.

• 9:14Matt Farah?

  What exhaust is it?

• 9:15Speaker 01

  It's Lou Bellinger race exhaust.

• 9:18Matt Farah?

  That sound-

• 9:19Speaker 01

And, and I was gonna get, yeah.

• 9:20Matt Farah?

That sounds like some fucking, the Goombies, like that dude-

• 9:24Speaker 01

I was gonna get, I was gonna get the like the modest one.

• 9:26Matt Farah?

Cargo shorts. He is ready to go.

• 9:28Speaker 01

I was gonna get like the modest version and my buddy was like this, no, you don't get that on this car. So we opened the box and it's like in pieces. We're like, I'm like, dang, now I need a welder because they're just expecting you to like know how to do that.

• 9:43Matt Farah?

  Some assembly required.

• 9:44Speaker 01

Yeah. We thought it was just plug and play, you know? So I was like, dang, but now it's like, it's, it unlocked the car.

• 9:51Matt Farah?

But are you're pretty handy then. You're doing lots of work.

• 9:53Speaker 01

So I have a buddy in Minnesota who has been working on cars his whole life and he like works on everything. So he, I kind of get the one-on-one time with him, like that's that we-

• 10:03Matt Farah?

  He comes to you?

• 10:04Speaker 01

So we started it when I was in Minnesota. Played for the Vikings for eight years. Um, we started in like the springtime, this time when we would have practice, we would be done at 12. And I'd be like, what do I do with myself? Well, I learned how to work on, you know, some cars. So I would just go to his garage, worked on the Mustang. We worked on the Viper, got it, got it super dialed. And, um, so he comes out to LA now and we have, since I have a garage.

• 10:25Matt Farah?

At your garage, you got a lift and tools and shit?

• 10:27Speaker 01

  Everything.

• 10:28Matt Farah?

Oh, that's cool. Yeah. Import the tech, set them up.

• 10:31Speaker 01

Harbor Freight hooked me up with some tools.

• 10:32Matt Farah?

Did they? Hell yeah. Couple posts you're there.

• 10:35Speaker 01

  Good.

• 10:36Matt Farah?

Hey, can I do four posts for a four post homie? Let's go.

• 10:41Matt Farah?

That's crazy. I had a, I had a, I have a friend who's in product placement and I overheard a phone call that they were on this morning about a certain product that was gonna be placed in like a really popular artist's music video, okay? It's two artists that are collaborating on a new song and they're both really popular, okay? And it was a product placement and it was for four non-contiguous seconds in the music video. Four seconds?

• 11:15Speaker 01

  So just straight on it?

• 11:16Matt Farah?

  Non-contiguous. Now, I don't know what that means, like it's not a four-second shot.

• 11:20Speaker 01

  Right.

• 11:21Matt Farah?

It could be two, two-second shots or four, one-second shots. They didn't specify, okay? How much do you think it costs to put this product, which probably, I guarantee you has nothing to do with the music or the video? It's like a gratuitous product shot. How much to place that for four non-contiguous seconds in a music video? With an A-list? A-list, A-list, right now.

• 11:44Speaker 01

  Two-hundred grand.

• 11:45Matt Farah?

Two-hundred grand, so that would be fifty grand a second.

• 11:48Speaker 02

  I'm going five-hundred.

• 11:49Matt Farah?

Five-hundred, okay. I, I may have built it up a little bit. You both shot a little high, but it was, but it was twenty K a second.

• 11:57Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 11:58Matt Farah?

Yeah, not super, this is an everyday music video, but for a big artist.

• 12:00Speaker 01

  That's expensive.

• 12:01Matt Farah?

Yeah, twenty K a second? I was like, damn, those rates are good. Getting a set of fucking tools and a lift though is pretty good.

• 12:08Speaker 01

  Doing right here.

• 12:09Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 12:10Speaker 02

Wow, Taylor Swift uses Harbor Freight.

• 12:12Matt Farah?

Oh, yeah, yeah. Maybe B-list, not Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift probably would be closer to what you're talking about. Fuck, importing your mechanic, though, to your own shop is excellent. Someone you trust. That's a good time and you guys are chilling too.

• 12:26Speaker 01

We're just hanging out, we're boys, you know, and some of the stuff I do myself and then some of the stuff I'm like FaceTiming them. Hey, what do I do with this, you know?

• 12:34Matt Farah?

NFL players are just like us. Or like Zach, actually, not like me. I don't even try. I'm a proud, I'm a proud patron of experts.

• 12:42Speaker 01

  I enjoy it.

• 12:43Matt Farah?

Shit's broken, here, I don't trust me to fix that.

• 12:45Speaker 01

See, if it's, if it's out of my league and it's out of my comfort zone, I don't, I don't mind having like, you know, with, with my GT-R, I'm not, I'm not messing with my GT-R.

• 12:54Matt Farah?

Yeah, you got a, you got a black R34 that looks quite spicy.

• 12:57Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:58Matt Farah?

Tell me the story of that car.

• 13:00Speaker 01

The story of that car, I bought it, uh, 2020, I believe.

• 13:05Speaker 01

I bought it from Japan, obviously. Went to Canada. My wife's Canadian.

• 13:12Speaker 02

  There you go.

• 13:13Speaker 01

And then I got it into the US last year officially.

• 13:15Matt Farah?

  The Skyline Underground.

• 13:17Speaker 01

I said that, I said, I said that like, like it was like easy, super stressful.

• 13:22Matt Farah?

  No, no, no.

• 13:22Speaker 01

Super stressful, people are, people are taking care of your car that, you know, you have to put trust in. And I mean, ultimately you get to like, when the product gets there, but I mean, I'm so pleased with it.

• 13:32Matt Farah?

Believe me, I know, I'm, I'm in that business.

• 13:34Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 13:34Matt Farah?

I'm in the trust business. It's hard, it's stressful being on your end.

• 13:38Speaker 01

  For sure.

• 13:38Matt Farah?

So, I mean, how old are you?

• 13:40Speaker 01

  I'm thirty-three.

• 13:41Matt Farah?

Okay, so you're ten years younger than me, but what is it, so is it, was it Gran Turismo?

• 13:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 13:46Matt Farah?

  It's all Gran Turismo, right?

• 13:47Speaker 01

It was the start of it, you know, getting the, getting familiar on the video games, but it was really just the, when, when, when, uh, I think it was Ludacris, I got a guy, you know, Too Fast Too Furious.

• 13:57Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 13:58Speaker 01

He pulls up, he started, the Ludacris song is bumping and he's just kind of sliding through traffic. I was just like, I need a, I need a thirty-four, like.

• 14:06Matt Farah?

I, I'm older than you, but when it was Gran Turismo one and two, my friends and I would race each other and it was Nürburgring, no Skylines, right?

• 14:15Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 14:15Matt Farah?

They were, we banned from our, our friendly competition because they were too good. And like, finally, when I got to go to Japan for a gig and drive an R thirty-four Skyline, I was like, wait a minute, it's really that good? That video game like wasn't bullshitting me? I was like, oh, fuck, they weren't kidding. It was all, it was a game over.

• 14:35Speaker 01

Yeah, people ask me all the time, like, what's it like to drive? Or like, is it hyped, is it worth the hype? And I'm just kind of like, it's my best car to drive. So like, obviously my, my Porsche, my GT three RS is like, the most track focused, it's pure, you know what I mean? But the thirty-four is like, the seats are comfortable, you know what I mean? Like. My wife can ride it and she'll she'll enjoy the feel of it, the sounds of it. It's a little bit nostalgic, but it's also super planted, it's fast, like.

• 15:03Matt Farah?

  You can do anything.

• 15:04Speaker 01

It's checking all the boxes, all the feelings.

• 15:06Matt Farah?

Yeah, they're they're fucking so rad. I had a thirty two uh in like twenty fourteen and fifteen for like a year. And I lost my storage and had to like fire sale a bunch of cars, which is why I started this business, so that hopefully never happens again. Um but I miss it and one day I'd like to get another one.

• 15:26Speaker 01

  Thirty twos are sick.

• 15:27Matt Farah?

They are, no, I I would get a thirty four, they those weren't available at the time, this was before you could really get them. Um I should have bought one in Japan, fucking sat on it, that would have been the move, that would have been the move. Everyone I drive is great. Is yours super motted or not really?

• 15:42Speaker 01

So I got it completely stock.

• 15:44Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 15:44Speaker 01

So I got it completely stock and it just has like Nismo, Nismo parts, so Nismo, Nismo intercooler, um exhaust. Shoot, it has a Halltech, you know, E eighty five conversion.

• 15:55Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 15:55Speaker 01

  Super, super like.

• 15:56Matt Farah?

Do you put an E eighty five through it? Oh, you do?

• 15:58Speaker 01

There's a bunch of like space spots.

• 15:59Matt Farah?

  Up there, on the valley?

• 16:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:02Matt Farah?

  I haven't, they're around here, they don't sell it.

• 16:04Speaker 01

No, you gotta, you gotta search.

• 16:06Matt Farah?

You need to get an app or something.

• 16:07Speaker 01

Yeah, we, there's an app for that.

• 16:08Matt Farah?

  Do you have an app?

• 16:09Speaker 01

I have a, there's like a website, I forgot what it is, but I can send it to you.

• 16:12Matt Farah?

  Can you?

• 16:12Speaker 02

  Corn finder dot com.

• 16:15Matt Farah?

  Can you real?

• 16:16Speaker 01

And it's pretty solid, cause it has like.

• 16:17Matt Farah?

H U S K R, uh can you see, see what, where we can get some E eighty five?

• 16:22Speaker 01

It'll have like little uh reviews, um.

• 16:26Matt Farah?

I need it to be easier than that.

• 16:27Speaker 02

  Well, E eighty five app.

• 16:29Matt Farah?

Is there, is that an app?

• 16:30Speaker 02

  That's what that's a link for.

• 16:31Speaker 01

  That looks new.

• 16:32Matt Farah?

E eighty five app on the app store?

• 16:34Speaker 01

I I just use the, I go through the hard way.

• 16:36Speaker 02

What's it, you do, oh, you do uh?

• 16:37Speaker 01

I do one of those links that you.

• 16:40Matt Farah?

Uh, all right, well, I have to try, cause it's, it's, people keep telling me I need to use it, I need to use it, I can't find it around here, but. All right, so you run that?

• 16:47Speaker 01

I run that, it's clean, it it burns quick, you know, I, every time I drive the car, I need to fill back up.

• 16:52Matt Farah?

Is it, it's not, is it flexible? Can you run regular gas in it?

• 16:55Speaker 01

I run ninety one or or E eighty five, so it's, it's kinda nice if you're in a pinch, you can just put ninety one in it, but, you know.

• 17:00Matt Farah?

And it knows what to do, or you have to do math?

• 17:02Speaker 01

No, it knows what to do.

• 17:03Matt Farah?

Yeah, math, math in your fueling.

• 17:06Speaker 01

Yeah, no, you don't wanna, I just, I just try to keep it up with the E85, it's gonna be, have no problem.

• 17:11Matt Farah?

By the way, Zach, I think we have to do, we have to put a little bit of Boostane in that Alpine.

• 17:14Speaker 02

I was wondering why that bottle was in the car.

• 17:16Matt Farah?

  In case I needed it.

• 17:17Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:18Matt Farah?

It's just like, I just had, we had to turn 91 effectively into 93.

• 17:22Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 17:22Matt Farah?

So just like a little splash of Boostane.

• 17:24Speaker 02

I thought you were sipping it or something, or...

• 17:25Matt Farah?

  I mean, it is delicious.

• 17:27Speaker 02

It looks like whiskey, it's not.

• 17:28Matt Farah?

My spider, I had to use that, the Octane booster stuff for a while, and now I don't, it's better.

• 17:33Speaker 02

Is, uh, is OEM plus kinda like how you like to mod your cars? You don't go too crazy on anything?

• 17:38Speaker 01

I mean, I, I thought when I was younger, I was gonna be the guy who went crazy in certain ways, but the, the, like...

• 17:46Speaker 01

I buy, I like to buy cars that look cool to me, first of all, but also like are functional, and what better way to like, I wanna keep the value of the car, I try to buy clean cars, I wanna keep the value of the car, but also, we don't mind a little OEM plus, we're, we're drivers, so it's like, you know, for the person who, I, I don't wanna sell any of my cars either, but like, if someone were to have my car after me, they can appreciate the modifications that I did to it, but also you can look at the-

• 18:10Matt Farah?

They're not gonna rush to undo them.

• 18:11Speaker 01

Yeah, but also you can look to, look, look at the car and be like, man, that's, that's an original, like, I don't wanna, I don't wanna lose that, like, that, that factor, especially when you open the interior and you see everything, I want it to look like it's, you know, from the factory.

• 18:24Matt Farah?

We were talking on a recent show about like, someone asked like, what's the sign of, of your maturing? And I was like, you, you stop doing interior delete, you know, mods, like, that's like, I regret every, every bit of interior I've ever taken out, I regret.

• 18:40Speaker 01

The hardest I ever went on a car was my Jeep, my, my, my very first Jeep.

• 18:43Matt Farah?

  Like a Wrangler?

• 18:45Speaker 01

I had a Jeep and I had a Subaru, which I kinda, uh, STI.

• 18:48Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 18:49Speaker 01

So, my first year in Minnesota, I was-

• 18:51Matt Farah?

I don't know why you said that, I pictured an Outback for some reason, I was like, why?

• 18:55Speaker 01

You looked at me, I was like, STI, like, STI.

• 18:59Speaker 02

  Which, which year?

• 19:00Speaker 01

  I had a, the last year, so I think I was 21.

• 19:02Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 19:03Speaker 01

Uh, and, uh, so my, my rookie year, I was like, man, I'm gonna go to get a Subaru, funny story.

• 19:09Matt Farah?

Guys, we gotta take a quick break from the action because support today is incoming from Delete Me, I've been talking- about Delete Me for months now and they've actually they have kept their word because Delete Me does all the hard work of getting your personal information from data broker websites which is where most like spam text assaults fake calls, marketing stuff, spam emails, phishing, a lot of that comes from data broker websites, right? And so what Delete Me does is is you tell them what your data is, which I know does sound a little counterintuitive, but they go to work

• 19:50Matt Farah?

on every data broker website out there, finding and making automatic like deletion requests to take down your information because these sites do have to do that on request. And so Delete Me then, once a month or so, sends you personalized privacy reports showing what they found, where they found it, and what was removed. Alright, they did this with me. I gave them my old addresses, my old phone numbers and email addresses, the contact info for like my parents and my family members, places I used to work, things like that. And, and man, they send me, the first report was like huge. It was 1,500 things that were deleted. And the next report a month later

• 20:35Matt Farah?

was like 500, and the two after that have been like 300. So I guess that's the amount that comes up every month, but it's ongoing. It's not a one-time thing. Delete Me is working for me all the time, monitoring and removing the personal information that I don't want out there. You can do it too. It's very easy. Take control of your data and keep your private life private by signing up for Delete Me. Now, a special discount for our listeners, you can get 20% off your Delete Me plan when you go to joindelete.me/tire and then use promo code tire at checkout. The only way to get 20% off is to go to joindelete.me/tire and enter code

• 21:20Matt Farah?

tire at checkout. That's joindelete.me/tire code tire.

• 23:06Speaker 01

I go to the Subaru dealership and they were like, you can't drive this. This is our Viper. And I'm like, I'm sitting there like.

• 23:11Speaker 02

  They still do that shit.

• 23:12Matt Farah?

Did you drive in in the Viper?

• 23:13Speaker 01

I called my agent. Exactly, no.

• 23:16Matt Farah?

  This is my Viper.

• 23:18Speaker 01

I called my agent, I was like, hey, they're not, he's like, how's the car shop been going? I'm like, they didn't let me drive it. And he's like, what? He called them and then next thing I know, I come back and then the car's pulled out in front.

• 23:26Matt Farah?

  Flatbed at your house.

• 23:27Speaker 01

But anyway, I'm going to Minnesota and I'm scared of like the snow and everything, rightfully so. So I'm like, I can go two ways. I can get a Jeep and just like, thug a Jeep for a couple of years, modify, have it fun and then like sell it and get another car in a couple of years. And I went that route.

• 23:45Speaker 01

Got a, had a matte army green, big tires, 36s or something like that.

• 23:49Matt Farah?

Didn't have that like Tyrese grill thing on it? Like, did it have a weird grill on it?

• 23:53Speaker 01

It had a weird grill on it, but it had the good one. It had the good one. One that kind of just was like OEM. For some reason, I feel like I got, I feel like, I feel like.

• 24:01Matt Farah?

  I'll stop.

• 24:02Speaker 01

I'll, I'll abandon it. It had a little nose, it had a little nose on top, you know? A little aggressive with the, but anyway, I actually did slide down an embankment from the top of it. Like on the off ramp, it was after it had rained all night and it froze over. I literally just couldn't do anything. I was, I was gonna try to turn and then I would've got hit in the side. So I kind of just straightened it out and just, just plowed into the person in front of me. So I did end up like, I didn't do anything to the Jeep at all, not even a scratch. But I actually did end up wrecking it. So I'm like, it was good. Fast forward, fast forward, my last year in Minnesota, my wife is pregnant and I had a 4Runner TRD Pro. So I upgraded from the Jeep to a 4Runner.

• 24:43Speaker 02

Jeep, Jeep crowd right now is so mad. What do you mean upgrade?

• 24:47Speaker 01

  No, I mean.

• 24:47Matt Farah?

  Go fuck yourself.

• 24:49Speaker 01

I bought a baseline, I bought a baseline Jeep and then modified it. So it was like, at the end of the day, it was just a baseline Jeep. So you know, I got the TRD and then I was, it was a, my wife was pregnant. So I'm like, you know what? You drive the, here, here babe, you know what?

• 25:03Matt Farah?

  Smart man.

• 25:04Speaker 01

You're gonna need this. You're gonna need this for the season.

• 25:06Speaker 02

  Protect our child.

• 25:07Speaker 01

I'm gonna get a different car.

• 25:08Matt Farah?

Sure. And then Jim Con of 27 came out.

• 25:12Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 25:12Speaker 01

Then I got an STI. Put some Blizzax on it.

• 25:16Speaker 02

  Yeah, buddy.

• 25:17Speaker 01

It was so sick. It was so sick. Got a, a matte performance, gave me a tune and they gave me an exhaust and like, I had TE's on it.

• 25:24Matt Farah?

You got snow to play with, they're the best.

• 25:27Speaker 01

Dude, it was, my Blizzax, I had, so I had like, like Bridgestone Duelers on my, my 4Runner and then the Blizzax. I had the actual snow tire for the, for the STI and like.

• 25:38Speaker 01

It was crazy because I got in my STI and I was and I was ripping like it was it was so grippy.

• 25:43Matt Farah?

The difference between a winter tire and an off-road tire is is a big difference.

• 25:47Speaker 01

And my and my four-wheel was great in the snow like and so it was it was it was cool like it was safe and everything so.

• 25:52Matt Farah?

But with that with the difference with a Blizzak that rubber is a different compound so even when it's dry and it's cold it's like having a summer tire and you can go you can go full fucking kill in the cold.

• 26:04Speaker 01

It was it was great so uh ended up ended up so my rationale for getting the STI was look if I get a rental car for the season I'm spending in Minnesota snow spending like at least minimum two grand a month on a rental car. Or you know get a lease start a lease I didn't want to do that so I'm like hmm I can buy a last year STI. I can drive it for the whole season put 10,000 miles on it and then I sold it to the same dealer for the exact same price.

• 26:32Matt Farah?

Dude car math wow very nice.

• 26:34Speaker 01

So cuz I got cuz I got you know I got all these things from these uh you know for free that upgraded the car a little bit.

• 26:39Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 26:39Speaker 01

But I took the wheel I took my TE's off kept those and then um you know put the stock wheels back on but the people who I sold it back to they were getting you know they got they got a PPF rap you know.

• 26:49Matt Farah?

Oh they got some upgrades too yeah.

• 26:51Speaker 01

They got they got a little upgrades they got they got a little tune a little exhaust so it was like it was a win.

• 26:56Matt Farah?

Yeah that's great math is anyone else in the locker room rolling an STI?

• 27:00Speaker 01

  Um I no one was.

• 27:03Matt Farah?

They're all doing just big trucks right?

• 27:05Speaker 01

Big tru- I mean big trucks um at that year actually one of my teammates had a Yuris a Mansory Yuris and it started getting a little bit colder and I started being like hey bro it's time to put the car away or it's time to get some different tires because.

• 27:20Speaker 02

I love that conversation so much.

• 27:23Matt Farah?

See I have all-wheel drive what's the problem?

• 27:24Speaker 01

I would just go around the parking lot and be like dude like you got you need new tires you need new tires like you guys are out here tripping like.

• 27:30Speaker 02

He's like but I have all these carbon fiber wings aren't they gonna keep me on the ground?

• 27:33Matt Farah?

I go to car shows and I shame people who have old tires I'll sell look at people who have like old Vipers and 4GTs and Diablo's and stuff and I'll be like yo your tires are from 99 bro like you're gonna die on the way home from this.

• 27:46Speaker 01

True true story. My, right when I got the Viper, the story I'm telling, I got the Viper, we got it running. It was, it was, it was good to go. I took it to a car show. As soon as the sun came out in Minnesota. Took it to a car show, a kid, maybe thirteen, twelve or thirteen. He came up to me as soon as I parked and he said, hey, bro. You have old tires. You need to change your tires. And I, and I, and in my mind, I'm like, the Viper's running. I just got it. Like, I hadn't even thought about that.

• 28:12Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 28:13Speaker 01

And I, I looked down at the tires and then I looked at him and I'm like, you're absolutely right. I got some Pilot Sport Cup twos the next week.

• 28:21Matt Farah?

Yo, if that kid is listening to this show.

• 28:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:24Matt Farah?

  Well done.

• 28:25Speaker 01

He, he came right up to me and was like.

• 28:26Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 28:27Speaker 01

He's like, get new tires, bro. Like, you don't want that to happen with, you know, Paul Walker.

• 28:31Matt Farah?

Wow, the youth, the, the youth is there. They're doing, they're on it. Kids are alright.

• 28:36Speaker 02

  That's amazing.

• 28:36Matt Farah?

Yeah, I bet that car was a whole other world when you got those tires too.

• 28:41Speaker 01

  I mean.

• 28:41Matt Farah?

That, a, a car like that from the nineties, well, that's a different fucking car.

• 28:46Speaker 01

The new tires actually makes a, makes like the biggest difference.

• 28:48Matt Farah?

Yeah, them cars aren't scary when you put modern tires on them. They're, they're great. They're, they're nice linear compared to shit like this.

• 28:54Speaker 01

Now it has suspension and tires. That's what I'm saying. Like, the brakes is like, now it's like, the brakes are like obvious. It's okay. That's the last. Last thing I do.

• 29:02Matt Farah?

Every two months, I'm like, yeah, I think so. And then I'm like, no. When you pull the handbrake, does it, does it almost touch the roof?

• 29:13Speaker 01

I almost, I almost, there's a sign, please don't bang on the table. I almost just banged on the table. The fact that you know about the handbrake in the Viper. When I was parking it for this past season, I played in Dallas this past season, when I parked the car to, you know, my last, turn the car off.

• 29:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 29:26Speaker 01

Pull the handbrake, pow, snaps. Cause you know, you pull it back far. Snapped it, just fixed it. Right now, I have a, I have like a, a wheel block in my car. My handbrake, it's fixed now, but it just needs to be tightened, but.

• 29:39Matt Farah?

  Dude, if you ever.

• 29:40Speaker 01

Like you said, it goes back far, so I just.

• 29:42Matt Farah?

Dude, a Viper handbrake, picture this is.

• 29:47Matt Farah?

  It's, it's up, dude, it's like, it's up to like here. It's, it's.

• 29:51Speaker 02

  Like the lever's too long.

• 29:52Matt Farah?

So long. It's so, it's so weird.

• 29:55Speaker 01

I think that's why, cause it's like, for me to pull it that. Far back, I just get used to it, you know, and then I'm in, I'm lifting weights, I'm ready for season.

• 30:02Speaker 02

  You're doing a row.

• 30:03Matt Farah?

It's the kind of lever you expect to be on the floor of a Ford Arostar. Like, it's crazy that that's a sports car.

• 30:10Speaker 02

But also, if the lever's that long, then it's way more pressure on that little cable.

• 30:14Speaker 01

And that's, that's exactly how I set it. And that's why I'm gonna make it tighter, you know, but.

• 30:18Matt Farah?

I snapped the Aston Vanquish one once, too, and the cable was $1,800, because of course it was, why wouldn't it have been?

• 30:26Speaker 01

When I took it to Angel's, last week or like two weeks ago, though, I had the blocks with me. So I just like parked the car, first gear.

• 30:35Matt Farah?

When you go to play, when you go to Dallas for a season, do you send a car or two down there to enjoy?

• 30:40Speaker 01

I sent the RS this year, the GT3 RS. I feel like that was a good one to send.

• 30:45Matt Farah?

Do you get to do any Texas track time while you're down there?

• 30:47Speaker 01

I didn't do any Texas track time, but like, everybody drives so fast in Texas because the freeways are so wide.

• 30:56Matt Farah?

  They're nuts.

• 30:57Speaker 01

  Everyone's driving ridiculously fast.

• 30:58Matt Farah?

  It's all highway pulls.

• 31:00Speaker 01

  Whoa.

• 31:01Speaker 02

With six lanes and your perception of speed.

• 31:03Speaker 01

The thing that scares me the most in Texas driving is the big modified trucks. People smash in those trucks.

• 31:10Matt Farah?

  The 2500s and the stacks.

• 31:12Speaker 01

Like, you're in their way, like, get out of my way, I'm driving fast, like, it's, it's like different.

• 31:17Speaker 02

  Fast lifted diesels.

• 31:18Speaker 01

Anytime I saw a truck like come in being aggressive, I would, I would easily get over, let them go by, you don't know what they're packing, I'm not trying to have no road rage.

• 31:26Matt Farah?

Really, like, ill-fitting wheels. You're like, dude, they're on like spacer, you know, 50 millimeter spacer, just waiting for a stud to snap.

• 31:35Speaker 01

I mean, it would, it would be like, I'll be at a like standstill and there will be trucks that like blew by me and it would be like, I was scared, like, I'm literally scared of trucks out there, I was staying away from them.

• 31:45Matt Farah?

  They're fast.

• 31:46Speaker 01

  They're fast, like.

• 31:47Speaker 02

Well, some are really, so I went to the, the Ford Lobo launch last night and they had some of the like fast, supercharged turbo trucks outside. Like the ones that used to run at Hoonigan's this versus that, you know, they show up, they run nine second quarter miles, F150, short bed.

• 32:01Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 32:01Speaker 02

But that thing's 6,000 pounds and it's as fast as a McLaren. That's a lot of energy if it hits something. It's cool, but terrifying.

• 32:07Speaker 01

  That's what I'm saying.

• 32:08Speaker 02

  I know, I get you.

• 32:08Speaker 01

And so I'm like thinking like I I hit for a living, so I know how things work.

• 32:13Matt Farah?

You're like, I can see this math.

• 32:15Speaker 01

I'm like, man, these guys don't care. Like, they're out here, one arm on the wheel, like, this is my road.

• 32:21Matt Farah?

Big gulp, just fucking alternating, yeah. Do you ever driven like a really fast pickup truck like that?

• 32:28Speaker 01

I've driven, the fastest I've done is a SUV. I haven't driven a pickup truck.

• 32:31Matt Farah?

When you, when your seat is that high, the perception is completely different. You ever drive a G sixty-three? Same shit.

• 32:40Speaker 01

You just feel like a, you're on the road.

• 32:42Matt Farah?

Feel the speed and and you can like a hundred is like sixty or something else like, I have an NSX. It's like dropped about a half inch, like an O five NSX, and you're sitting on the fucking ground. And seventy feels like a hundred and twenty. It's great, actually. It's a really nice way to live. Um, and this is the exact opposite. And when you're in like a lifted twenty-five hundred, you don't even know.

• 33:05Speaker 01

  No, it's.

• 33:05Matt Farah?

  You're just sailing along.

• 33:07Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 33:07Speaker 01

  You're just floating.

• 33:08Speaker 02

I drove a Roush F one fifty, it was lifted, it had six hundred and fifty horsepower, and you're way up tall, but you just floor it and you go, oh wow, a hundred. Oh my god, how does this thing do that?

• 33:16Matt Farah?

How is the the Lobo, by the way?

• 33:19Speaker 02

  Looks like a sport truck.

• 33:20Matt Farah?

And what is, what is it? It's like, it's a street F one fifty, right?

• 33:24Speaker 02

Coyote engine, they lower the back like an inch, so it's like a leveled thing. I mean, the event was cool. They had these rad modified trucks out front. Um, and it looks good, if you're into like street truck stuff. I just think what those things are capable of now with the ten-speed trans. And the drivetrain that holds up to all that boost. I mean, people are gonna take these and be like, thank you, and then they're gonna shove a supercharger on it.

• 33:44Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 33:45Speaker 02

And just clean up at drag strips.

• 33:47Speaker 01

How about the OJ era F one fifty?

• 33:49Matt Farah?

  The Lightning?

• 33:50Speaker 01

  The Light, those are serious.

• 33:51Matt Farah?

I like those three Lightnings, my, those are great.

• 33:54Speaker 01

Like the Fast and Furious ones?

• 33:55Matt Farah?

Yes, that's my, those are my jam.

• 33:57Speaker 01

  I like the box, though.

• 33:59Matt Farah?

  I I respect the style, the ninety-five, ninety-six.

• 34:02Speaker 02

Then you like the logo, because they added that, like, the front valence and stuff, and it looks boxier.

• 34:06Speaker 01

  Cool.

• 34:06Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:07Matt Farah?

Did you see that FX pack thing that Ford just announced for the Mustang? We were kind of shitting on it the other day, because it's like a Fox body inspired thing, but like-

• 34:15Speaker 01

The gauges and stuff like that?

• 34:17Matt Farah?

It doesn't look right, though. Someone on Instagram, someone on Instagram, by the way, Zach, photoshopped-

• 34:24Speaker 02

  I saw, I reposted it.

• 34:25Matt Farah?

  It was so much better.

• 34:26Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:27Matt Farah?

So this supposedly, Eric, this is supposed-

• 34:30Speaker 01

Is that the same green as the Fox?

• 34:32Matt Farah?

Yes, it is, and I'll give them that, but these white wheels are supposed to look like the ninety-three GT wheels, which they fucking don't.

• 34:41Matt Farah?

And here, they put it next to a ninety-three Cobra. And it doesn't look like those fan wheels at all, and someone on Instagram-

• 34:48Speaker 02

  Yeah, let me see.

• 34:49Matt Farah?

-made a Photoshop of an updated version of that car with a new fan wheel, and it looked sick.

• 34:56Speaker 02

  There we go.

• 34:57Matt Farah?

There! How much better does that look?

• 34:59Speaker 01

  Okay, okay, okay.

• 35:00Matt Farah?

See? How hard was that? That's so much better.

• 35:04Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 35:05Speaker 01

  And that's just the wheels.

• 35:06Matt Farah?

Yeah, doesn't that look cool, actually? That's a nice-looking wheel. Your car would look dope on those. Your black car would look sick on those.

• 35:13Speaker 01

Have you seen that they do the CHP wheels now?

• 35:14Matt Farah?

  Mm-hmm.

• 35:15Speaker 01

  Those are pretty cool, too.

• 35:16Matt Farah?

  Mm-hmm.

• 35:16Speaker 01

But I would, those wheels are sick.

• 35:18Matt Farah?

Yeah. Doesn't that, oh, see, there you go, on the ninety-three Cobra.

• 35:22Speaker 01

  It's just a good-looking car.

• 35:24Matt Farah?

I do love me a Mustang, and you give me a notch back in that color, fuck, I'm on board.

• 35:30Speaker 01

So, oh, so on the way here, there was like a, like a semi truck, a couple lanes over, and he honks the horn, "Er, er," and then I look over, and he's just like this, "How much? How much? How much?"

• 35:43Matt Farah?

Guys making deals on the four oh five.

• 35:45Speaker 01

So I kind of got over, I kind of got over a couple lanes and revved it for him, and then kind of, you know.

• 35:49Matt Farah?

  That's awesome.

• 35:49Speaker 01

But I was, it's just like that, that, that age group, that generation, they just, you know.

• 35:53Matt Farah?

Well, you're, the three, the cars of yours that we've talked about so far are some real dude magnets. You have some serious dude magnet cars.

• 36:01Speaker 01

  If you know, you know.

• 36:02Matt Farah?

The Skyline is the most dude magnet car ever.

• 36:04Speaker 01

  The Viper turns heads, too.

• 36:06Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 36:06Speaker 01

  Believe it or not.

• 36:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 36:07Speaker 01

But the Skyline, for sure, I mean, because, because now, now, like, it's eight years, eight-year-olds, thirteen-year-olds, you know, and then our generation, like, younger, everybody loves that car.

• 36:17Matt Farah?

I don't blame him. What's the, what is your, what's your everyday run around?

• 36:21Speaker 01

  CT5 V Black one.

• 36:23Matt Farah?

Oh god, you're a man of taste.

• 36:25Speaker 01

  Automatic too.

• 36:26Matt Farah?

  I don't care.

• 36:27Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 36:27Matt Farah?

  I don't judge. Not for a daily, I don't judge.

• 36:30Speaker 01

No, no, come on, come on. You got the car seats in the back right now?

• 36:33Matt Farah?

  That's a, that's a great fucking car.

• 36:34Speaker 01

Carbon seats with the car seats? My son has no idea.

• 36:36Matt Farah?

  Massage, massage seat, yeah.

• 36:38Speaker 01

  My son has no idea.

• 36:40Matt Farah?

  They are superb.

• 36:42Speaker 02

How many cars do you have?

• 36:43Speaker 01

  I have six right now.

• 36:45Speaker 02

Oh, okay. Like manageable number, you can drive all of them.

• 36:47Speaker 01

Could you have all of them?

• 36:48Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 36:48Speaker 01

I can drive all of them.

• 36:49Matt Farah?

  Ah, that's alright.

• 36:50Speaker 01

My last one was a, I got a Honda. I just got that.

• 36:54Matt Farah?

What kind of Honda? Is it NSX?

• 36:57Speaker 02

What is it? White CRX was it?

• 36:58Speaker 01

  It's a black CRX.

• 36:59Speaker 02

  A black CRX?

• 37:00Matt Farah?

  Is it?

• 37:00Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 37:01Speaker 02

  Those are fun.

• 37:02Speaker 01

  Something on there.

• 37:03Matt Farah?

Is it right-hand or left-hand drive?

• 37:04Speaker 01

  It's right, it's left-hand drive.

• 37:05Matt Farah?

It's left, is it, but is it a good, is it like a special CRX?

• 37:09Speaker 01

  It's a C, it's a SR.

• 37:10Matt Farah?

It is an SR, cool. Did you have one back in the day or?

• 37:13Speaker 01

I didn't have one, my neighbor, my, so my neighbor growing up, they had a red S2000 and a rest, a red CRX. And they would just be outside tinkering on it when I would walk home from school. And I would just be, you know, hands on my backpack straps, walking by, looking at them every day. So I was like, man, I would, and everyone's like, man, what kind of cars do you like? And I'm like, I like Hondas. That's like my first go-to. I like Hondas. That's how much I like cars. And they're like, oh, what kind of Honda would you like? And I'm like, man, I gotta stop talking about it. I gotta start getting it.

• 37:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 37:41Speaker 01

  But.

• 37:42Matt Farah?

I mean, the best CRX in the world is like 25 grand, like let's, you know, let's go.

• 37:45Speaker 01

No, and, and honestly, so what happened was my, my bu, one of my mechanic buddies in, in Minnesota, he had one. And it was his personal one. And I had offered him, I, I mean, we had talked about buying it, you know, me selling it, uh, a couple of years back, but I never followed through with it. And then this past offseason, now he has five right-hand drives. He has five like right-hand, you know.

• 38:06Matt Farah?

  That's called a business.

• 38:07Speaker 01

  So I'm like, yeah.

• 38:08Matt Farah?

Oh, look at that. Is this it?

• 38:09Speaker 01

  That's it.

• 38:10Matt Farah?

Oh, it's got louvers on the back window?

• 38:12Speaker 01

  It's got the louvers.

• 38:13Matt Farah?

  What wheels are those?

• 38:14Speaker 01

I don't know. They look good though. They're like, they're like.

• 38:16Matt Farah?

  Fucking cool.

• 38:17Speaker 01

  They're like perfect too.

• 38:17Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 38:18Speaker 01

  Like untouched.

• 38:19Matt Farah?

This is like the CRX that wanted to be a, uh, Corrado. Right? It's got like Corrado, Volkswagen Corrado vibes.

• 38:27Speaker 02

It's cool because it's very different, you know, you have like all-wheel-drive, big power GTR. The Vipers rear-wheel-drive craziness. And now this is like super lightweight, front-wheel drive.

• 38:36Speaker 01

  Front-wheel drive.

• 38:36Speaker 02

No, great. I mean, you have a lot of the, you kind of cover all the flavors in a six-car garage for much.

• 38:41Speaker 01

  For sure.

• 38:41Matt Farah?

  That's fun.

• 38:42Speaker 01

I know. I feel like. I when I sold my I sold my Subaru to get the black wing, which is like I sold my Subaru and I sold my four runner TRD.

• 38:52Matt Farah?

To get a black wing? Living in California, good trade.

• 38:55Speaker 01

No, so that's what I'm saying, you feel me? So so I got I it was it was but now I'm like the Subaru, I was like I just think about it a lot.

• 39:03Matt Farah?

You they're do a revy, you know, fucking turbocharged or whatever, you know, high, strong import is a good thing.

• 39:11Speaker 01

  It's just good.

• 39:12Matt Farah?

  It's a good thing.

• 39:13Speaker 01

  And it's broomy, but.

• 39:14Matt Farah?

Mine is like the two thousand Civic SI coupe, that generation, those are that's my jam.

• 39:20Speaker 01

  Um, you like those?

• 39:22Matt Farah?

I do. That's what that's that's that's what uh the cool kids had in high school.

• 39:26Speaker 01

The the you talk about the the like the two door, like the fast and furious, the spoon ones, they go there. Okay, I got you.

• 39:32Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 39:32Speaker 01

  Those are sick.

• 39:33Matt Farah?

  They're they drove right, they.

• 39:35Speaker 01

  They're expensive too now.

• 39:36Matt Farah?

I know, because there's none left.

• 39:38Speaker 01

No, no clean ones for sure.

• 39:39Matt Farah?

Me and everyone else crashed them all, not everyone else crashed them all. That and like B five S fours, everyone crashed all those, those don't exist anymore either.

• 39:47Speaker 01

B five, RS four, imported right now. That would be sick.

• 39:51Matt Farah?

They as a highway car spectacular, they don't handle very well, but they look amazing and they're fun as fuck.

• 39:58Speaker 01

I've actually been, you know, that was one of the ones I've been looking at this past year.

• 40:01Matt Farah?

  An RS four?

• 40:02Speaker 01

  B five.

• 40:03Matt Farah?

  Mm hmm.

• 40:03Speaker 01

  So good.

• 40:04Matt Farah?

Mm hmm. They're they're fucking tasty.

• 40:06Speaker 01

There there's some good colors too, I mean, good colors get sold high, but.

• 40:10Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 40:11Speaker 01

  They're good.

• 40:11Matt Farah?

Fucking paint it. Rap paint it, rapid, who gives a shit? I drove I drove one that was was like a safari prepped one that had like a lift on it and like over fenders and yeah, it was like a rally car. I drove it in winter in New York. It was amazing. It was so fun. Yeah, they're a good time and they're the right size. They're not too big.

• 40:28Speaker 01

Throw a car seat or two in the back for a car show, you know, that'll be the excuse.

• 40:33Matt Farah?

That's learning to wrench for sure. If you know, you know, car.

• 40:35Speaker 02

They're problematic, so you definitely learn to work on cars.

• 40:38Speaker 01

That's the thing I was like going over the list of like, you know, things that they might need or problems that they have.

• 40:43Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 40:44Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 40:44Speaker 02

  Yeah, just circle the car.

• 40:46Matt Farah?

  Oh, everything.

• 40:49Speaker 02

  Not quite.

• 40:49Speaker 01

Like nothing I have any better list of my.

• 40:51Speaker 02

  That's very funny, yeah, yeah.

• 40:53Matt Farah?

Does anyone else that you play with have a similar kind of taste to you of the eighties and nineties interesting cars?

• 40:58Speaker 01

Yeah, so my buddy, uh, my buddies, Daniel Hunter and Byron Jones, those are my my my my good guys as far as we go on drive. They came out here like a couple of weeks ago, we went on a drive.

• 41:08Matt Farah?

  Oh, cool.

• 41:09Speaker 01

For like we they came out here for a week and we could drive all week.

• 41:11Matt Farah?

  It's cool.

• 41:12Speaker 01

They have a great colle- they have a great collection, they have a great taste. Um, Connor McGovern, he's a, a center.

• 41:19Matt Farah?

  Uh huh.

• 41:19Speaker 01

Um, he has great taste. There's a bunch of guys who have ta- like, we're starting to band up, like, I feel like it's like.

• 41:25Matt Farah?

Tell me there's like a fucking WhatsApp thread or something of like NFL 90s.

• 41:31Speaker 01

I wanna be, I wanna be.

• 41:32Matt Farah?

  You should organize it.

• 41:33Speaker 01

I, I wanna bring it together, you know, at some point, you know, I think that that would be awesome for the, for the culture, for sure.

• 41:39Matt Farah?

Calling all NFL players who like 90s and 80s.

• 41:42Speaker 01

Who like, who like, who like actually are enthusiasts, you know, cause there, there is some guys out there for sure. Kenneth Murray is another enthusiast that I know. Um, Dakota Shepley, who I played with in Dallas, you know, there's like, there's like one or two on each team.

• 41:52Matt Farah?

I just saw someone, uh, fucking from, on TMZ, one of the Lakers rolled up in a sick typhoon.

• 41:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 41:59Matt Farah?

  Really sick.

• 42:00Speaker 01

  Devin Booker.

• 42:01Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 42:01Speaker 01

  Devin Booker.

• 42:02Matt Farah?

You know, really nice looking, clean, clean typhoon.

• 42:04Speaker 01

Like typhoons, like cyclones, those are the cars that I've been looking at since I got to the league, like box bodies.

• 42:09Matt Farah?

If you, typhoons, dude, I drove the nicest one you've ever seen. They drive horrible. They're, they're hopeless to drive, but they look awesome. There's just, it's 97% attitude. Yeah.

• 42:25Speaker 01

Yeah. Those, I mean, come on.

• 42:26Matt Farah?

Normally I'm not, I'm not about white on white wheels, but I think Devin Booker has pulled it off.

• 42:31Speaker 02

Well, it's got the good style of like the two-door Tahos, but it's just a little smaller.

• 42:35Matt Farah?

And by the way, that is not the stock wheel. That's an oversized wheel, but that's made to look like the stock wheels. So, respect.

• 42:43Speaker 01

That's, looks good. Oh, E plus.

• 42:44Matt Farah?

  There, yeah.

• 42:45Speaker 01

  We like those.

• 42:45Matt Farah?

You are on the same page. Yeah. I mean, that's, that's a great look for him. That's fucking cool as hell. I'm so. I love a typhoon for anyone else that's not me. I wanna see you in a typhoon, Eric.

• 42:58Speaker 01

  That'd be cool.

• 42:59Matt Farah?

I don't wanna go in it though. I did a fucking story for Rodeo Track last year that was, rode, it was typhoon versus Urus Porformonte.

• 43:08Matt Farah?

Let's just say the thirty years hadn't been kind to the Ford GMC.

• 43:12Speaker 01

That's, but I mean, that's how I feel in the Viper. I would never let any, I would never drive in the passenger seat of that.

• 43:19Speaker 01

That's a car that I would throw someone the keys and be like, have fun driving it. I'm not riding with you.

• 43:23Matt Farah?

  I don't even wanna know.

• 43:24Speaker 01

The clutch is on the left, you know, like.

• 43:26Matt Farah?

  Sorta.

• 43:28Speaker 01

You can't have to drag your foot a little bit on the side of the car, but you'll figure it out, but.

• 43:32Matt Farah?

Oh dude, does your, do your feet get real hot driving that motherfucker?

• 43:36Speaker 01

It used to, but now with the new exhaust, it's way better, but.

• 43:39Matt Farah?

What do you like, what kind of footwear do you like to drive in? Do you have special shoes, vans?

• 43:43Speaker 01

You know, some, some, some athletic, some, but uh, I feel like, man, that car is just. Like you can't drive, you're, it's meant to drive fast, which is a beautiful thing about it, but if you're in the city and you're. Red light to red light, you're gonna be jerking around the whole time.

• 44:01Matt Farah?

All that really fast stuff from nineteen eighty-five to nineteen ninety-nine. That was meant to go fast was not very good at going slow.

• 44:11Speaker 01

You slam on the gas, you shift through gears, you're like, man, this is smooth. This runs great. You're driving it slow in the, in the track, you're like, man, this is awful.

• 44:18Matt Farah?

That's, you, that is, that's, it's, they were inspired by Italian cars from the eighties. That's what that was. Leia Coco, like, them boys are Ferrari. Here's how they do it. Let's go, you know? Yeah, they're fucking nutty, them cars. I like them though. They're kind of fucking, any car that has an irreplaceable. Charm about it. It's totally unique in the world. Actually, I would, all your cars, Fox Body, a CRX, a Skyline. Uh, a Viper, these are all cars that have no equal, you know, really. Which is pretty cool.

• 44:53Speaker 01

  That's how I like it.

• 44:53Matt Farah?

They have a very unique flavor that you actually can't get anywhere else, which is a, which is a man of taste.

• 45:00Speaker 01

And you can't, and you can't necessarily just go and buy a clean version of it as well. Like you, it's hard to find a good version because. The Vipers back in the day, like, that's what people, people always come to me and tell me, hey, people don't even know how many Gen one Vipers are available because. Everyone was just wrecking them. Like everyone was just crashing on left and right.

• 45:18Matt Farah?

It's a car that you think there's a lot of until you try to find a good one. Like E forty-six M threes. You think there's a lot of them too, and then you're like, actually, seven of these are worth buying. Um, but there's, have you seen, there's a guy? You must have seen him around at some point or on the internet. There's like a local sort of Viper celebrity that lives in Marina Del Rey. That has a two hundred thousand mile ninety-two Viper that just lives outside next to the.

• 45:44Speaker 01

  It's just red?

• 45:45Matt Farah?

  It's red. It's fucked up.

• 45:47Speaker 01

  I, I've seen it.

• 45:47Matt Farah?

And the homie dailies it. And it's fucking crazy. That it's just.

• 45:52Speaker 01

  I can imagine like.

• 45:53Matt Farah?

  So happy with himself.

• 45:54Speaker 01

Just from, yeah, just from a rain perspective, I'll like.

• 45:57Matt Farah?

I don't know. He got the seats recovered like two, three years ago.

• 46:01Speaker 01

Okay, okay. So he's, he's fixing it up a little bit.

• 46:04Matt Farah?

  Uh, at, at minimum.

• 46:05Speaker 01

But my thing is like, all the plastics in there is like the cheap plastics. Like they're so, it's like, you can't find pieces for those like. So they're probably all missing.

• 46:13Matt Farah?

  That's like, uh, dude like.

• 46:14Speaker 02

Is it this one? It's sold?

• 46:15Matt Farah?

  No.

• 46:16Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 46:16Matt Farah?

  That, that looks amazing.

• 46:18Speaker 02

It's a three hundred thousand miles too, but.

• 46:20Speaker 01

  That's a gen two?

• 46:21Matt Farah?

That's, uh, that, this one is so nice that even with two hundred thousand miles, it's still got forty-five grand.

• 46:27Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 46:28Matt Farah?

I bet if that car had fifty thousand miles, it would get forty-five grand.

• 46:31Speaker 01

A gen two ACR is like a, I feel like a good buy.

• 46:34Matt Farah?

  Is that an?

• 46:35Speaker 01

I don't know how much they're going for, but I feel like.

• 46:38Matt Farah?

Depends on if you want with the two hundred thousand miles, I think. ACRs are, I don't see those as much.

• 46:42Speaker 01

  That's what I'm saying.

• 46:43Matt Farah?

Yeah, I don't see this as much, but fucking Vinny who works for me is obsessed, had a, had a ninety-six. GTS with the, the blue with the white, you know, the Shelby colors for a minute. And he's missed it ever since and doesn't shut the fuck up about it. And so we gotta find him one of these things.

• 46:57Speaker 01

That's like the best, like. Gen two, blue with the stripes.

• 47:01Matt Farah?

We have one in storage at our other store.

• 47:02Speaker 01

That's like the, I feel like that's the sweet, I mean, I like my Viper, uh, like obviously biased, but. The gen two is like, they cleaned up a little bit of everything. They have windows, power windows, the door locks are better, like, everything's better.

• 47:14Matt Farah?

  I actually like.

• 47:17Matt Farah?

The GTS gets all the love, but I like the gen two RT. And I know it's sacrilege, but I like the center rear exhaust.

• 47:25Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 47:25Matt Farah?

I think they makes that car sound like a Lambo. Whereas with the side exhaust, you're only really hearing like one and it sounds kinda like a UPS truck. Yeah, which is cool. Like, that's a vibe, but I, but the ones with the rear exit exhaust, I think do sound.

• 47:41Speaker 01

Those are the wheels I have a mine.

• 47:42Speaker 02

Can I just say, I, I just looked at four different listings of Viper, cause I was like, I must be looking at a weird one, cause. This headlight to hood gap is so big, but all four of them have this same. Eric's like, nope, cross the board.

• 47:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 47:55Speaker 02

Alright, yep, that's just a thing.

• 47:56Speaker 01

You better, you better have somebody on the other side when you open the hood up.

• 47:59Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 48:00Speaker 01

That's a big, heavy hood and I, you know.

• 48:02Matt Farah?

  People crack them, probably.

• 48:03Speaker 01

  Yeah, you wanna, you wanna.

• 48:04Matt Farah?

That's like the Ford GT rear bumper gap with the clamshell. They're, they're all fucked. It doesn't exist. Yeah.

• 48:11Speaker 01

But yeah, my, I think that the gap changes every single time.

• 48:15Speaker 02

Do the headlights stay aligned right or no?

• 48:17Speaker 01

  It looks good this time.

• 48:18Speaker 02

  Alright, okay.

• 48:20Matt Farah?

Wow. That's how they stopped it from rattling. They just moved them further apart.

• 48:24Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 48:26Speaker 01

Man, the more, the more you drive the Viper, the more you realize they just like threw it together to race. Like, alright, alright, come on.

• 48:32Matt Farah?

Well, you, I, there's, I remember seeing back in the day, there were, there was a whole forum threads. Cause I had a C5 Corvette too, which was just as fucking rattly as a Viper. Um, there was all these forum threads about people that was taking apart their interiors and like dynamating them to make them stop rattling and like, there is some amount of dynamat that you can add that will stop it from rattling, but it's a lot.

• 48:56Speaker 01

  I take all the rattles.

• 48:58Matt Farah?

We did it online in my Corvette, cause the transmission tunnels would get hot as fuck. And so you, you have to line it with dynamat and it would actually help dissipate the heat.

• 49:07Speaker 01

  Shoot.

• 49:08Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 49:08Speaker 01

  That's smart.

• 49:09Matt Farah?

Uh, I, I didn't come up with it. I saw it on the internets.

• 49:12Speaker 02

You had to take the trans out for that?

• 49:14Matt Farah?

No, you just had to take the interior apart, the, the, the housing bit. Yeah, yeah. Um, do we have things from the people, from our patrons, our lovely patrons over at patreon.com slash the smoke tire podcast? The greatest website on the entire goddamn planet. That's what I'm saying. Everybody, uh, people probably have football questions. I don't know if you know it or not. I'm not a very big football person. Uh, I love watching a football game if one is presented to me, but I don't follow the sport. Um, that's why I like your car shit. It's really good. I don't care that much about football. But I imagine our fans have some football questions. So I'm gonna try to not sound like an idiot when I read them.

• 49:53Matt Farah?

Of course, if you wanna ask us questions, if you wanna catch our live stream, if you wanna get the show without ads, if you wanna get the show before everybody else. If you wanna get exclusive access to merchandising and collaborations, patreon.com.

• 50:07Matt Farah?

The Smoking Tire Podcast. Uh, Matt's Hard Knobra says, uh, which football player has the worst taste in cars? Oh, that's you're just asking to shit on somebody?

• 50:18Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm not gonna, I mean, the, uh, there's a ton, first of all, a ton of players, however,

• 50:25Speaker 01

I'm gonna say Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins, first of all, has great taste in cars.

• 50:29Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 50:29Speaker 01

So, it's kind of like a, whatever, but if I was him, I would have so many cars.

• 50:37Matt Farah?

Because he has too few really expensive cars?

• 50:39Speaker 01

  No.

• 50:40Matt Farah?

  Or what?

• 50:40Speaker 01

He just doesn't like, he doesn't spend money on cars, but he loves them though. He loves them for what they are and he knows like, you know, Mopar, he knows like, he, he knows a lot about a lot and he has great taste in cars, but he refuses to buy them.

• 50:51Matt Farah?

Oh, that's a sin. That is a sin.

• 50:54Speaker 01

  And I'm like.

• 50:55Matt Farah?

You owe it to us to buy cars.

• 50:56Speaker 01

Buy it all. Buy them all. You know, but that's.

• 50:58Matt Farah?

But is there, like, have you seen, like, the Mansori stuff?

• 51:01Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've seen some Mansori stuff. I've seen, you know, the Brabus and stuff like that, which I've been, some, you know, the Brabus GW.

• 51:07Matt Farah?

  The Brabus is alright.

• 51:07Speaker 01

  They're hard, yeah.

• 51:08Matt Farah?

I don't know about the GW.

• 51:09Speaker 01

  But, I mean, uh.

• 51:10Speaker 02

Cause I also don't follow football. So Kirk got a hundred and eighty million dollar deal from the Falcons. And so he likes cars and you're like, dude, you can afford cars.

• 51:16Speaker 01

  Hopefully he has some now.

• 51:18Matt Farah?

  Some left.

• 51:18Speaker 01

But I remember, I remember, we, I remember we went to go to this guy's collection and, and he had a, like a Gen two Viper, the blue one we're talking about, and it was something reasonable, sixty, super low miles. I'm like, but you're never gonna lose on this. And he was just like, can't do it.

• 51:30Speaker 02

Okay. He loves his Astro van, you know?

• 51:33Matt Farah?

  What? Is it Astro van?

• 51:35Speaker 02

I think he has, is an Astro.

• 51:36Speaker 01

  I mean, he, yeah.

• 51:36Matt Farah?

  That's a conversion van? Yeah.

• 51:38Speaker 01

No, he, he, he had a 4Runner, we both have 4Runners in Minnesota. I mean, love that guy.

• 51:44Speaker 02

  Alright.

• 51:44Speaker 01

But I'm like, man, buy some more.

• 51:47Matt Farah?

Do you know, do any, any, any of the fucking boys have like six Sprinters that they get driven around in?

• 51:52Speaker 01

For sure, for sure. I mean, my, my thing is the, like, is if you, there's cars that people want and they just check off the list and it's like, who am I to tell someone who's worked hard, you know?

• 52:04Matt Farah?

  Oh, no.

• 52:04Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, who's worked hard and they want, and they, and if you want a Maybach, cool, get it. But like, for me, I'm like, looking at the numbers and I'm like, the amount that you lose on the Maybach, you could just like.

• 52:13Matt Farah?

Do you ever get press cars? Or like you do? Oh, so you get to roll, do you roll up in press cars?

• 52:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 52:19Matt Farah?

See, that's, then people are like, what are you doing over here?

• 52:22Speaker 01

  So I, I, I gotta, I gotta drive a lot of flavors, you know, it's, it's, it's been awesome.

• 52:25Matt Farah?

Doesn't that help you not spend stupid money?

• 52:28Speaker 01

  Hundred percent.

• 52:28Matt Farah?

  Totally does, right?

• 52:29Speaker 01

I gotta drive this for a week, I gotta drive this for the week, I mean, I get to taste, you know, what's cool and what's not, but...

• 52:34Speaker 02

Are there cars you've had as press cars where you get out and you go, yeah, I wouldn't buy that, uh, you know, I thought I might like it, but I don't? And then are there cars where you've gotten out, had to return it and you go, ooh, should I go to the dealership?

• 52:44Speaker 01

To be, like, so the car that made me feel like that, like, it was an Aston Martin DBX.

• 52:49Matt Farah?

  Oh, interesting.

• 52:51Speaker 01

For some reason, I just didn't, I didn't think anything of it getting it, I'm like, cool, I gotta drive this, this, this fast SUV, you know, it's gonna be fun. And then I started driving it and I'm like, oh, like, this has a kind of a feel to it.

• 53:01Matt Farah?

  Was it a 707?

• 53:02Speaker 01

  I have no idea.

• 53:03Matt Farah?

  Probably.

• 53:04Speaker 01

It was a sweet color, had sweet wheels, I'm like, I'm like, okay, like, if someone buys one of these on a used market, I'm like, I'm like...

• 53:11Matt Farah?

A DBX 707 is exceptionally good, and they're, uh, they, they're, they're gonna be the first...

• 53:16Speaker 01

No, it wasn't the 707, that's the one with the spoiler and everything added on top, yeah.

• 53:19Matt Farah?

If you like the regular one, you should give Aston a buzz and do the 707, they're awesome.

• 53:25Speaker 01

  But yeah.

• 53:25Matt Farah?

They, they're the first car that's gonna do this, uh, the full CarPlay integration.

• 53:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 53:30Matt Farah?

Like where it's your whole shit, your gauges and everything become CarPlay, yeah.

• 53:34Speaker 01

Another car was the Acura NSX.

• 53:36Matt Farah?

  Hmm.

• 53:37Speaker 01

The new ones, I love those too.

• 53:39Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 53:39Speaker 01

It was a good car, I mean, like, I, I had one, I had thought about it one way in my head and I got it and I'm like, wow, this hybrid is actually, it's kinda nice.

• 53:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 53:47Speaker 01

  And it's, and they're fast.

• 53:48Speaker 02

  Super fast.

• 53:48Speaker 01

It's comfortable, it's performed well, it got looks on the road.

• 53:51Matt Farah?

They ca, they caught a bad rap for some reason, but they're...

• 53:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 53:54Matt Farah?

Yeah. Uh, Matt loves Pearl Jam, that's, that's an accurate statement. Who's the hardest player to tackle?

• 54:02Speaker 01

  I feel like, um...

• 54:05Speaker 01

There's a toss up. I mean, obviously you have like Lamar Jackson, who's like, he's like a running back that's quarterback. So he is like very shifty. He just avoids getting hit hard. And it makes no sense because sometimes you feel like you have him dead to rights and he just kind of squirms out of it and gets like four more yards. And then Saquon Barkley is obviously one of the top running backs in the league and he's pretty hard to tackle. I would say he's, you know, he's got all the attributes as far as running backs concerned that you you'd want, you know, strength, you know, contact balance. He's shifty, he's fast. Um, but my underrated hardest person to tackle, and this is like physically like one on one, head, head to head, was Chris Carson from the Seahawks. He was a running back for the Seahawks and um,

• 54:51Speaker 01

he, I would watch film and he would just like, if someone's about to tackle him, he would just like,

• 54:58Speaker 01

  like punish them.

• 54:59Matt Farah?

He just knew how to like turn himself into stone.

• 55:02Speaker 01

He's getting tackled and he's like not, no, sometimes there are no gains, but like whoever's tackling him is going to feel all of that.

• 55:07Matt Farah?

It's going to hurt for trying.

• 55:09Speaker 01

For that like, so I'm like, I respect the, because it's like, that was his game. And it's like, that's hard to do down to down.

• 55:14Matt Farah?

Make yourself painful is a fucking hard, yeah, all right, cool. Wow. Uh, Laguna Seca Genesis, that's a fucking good one. All right. Uh, what's a car, Eric, uh, that's on your list? Haven't had it yet, looking at it?

• 55:30Speaker 01

The two cars that I've been looking at the most is probably, uh,

• 55:36Speaker 01

I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go like expensive ones. I would say four GT, like a 06, 05.

• 55:41Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 55:42Speaker 01

And then, um, I would say, uh, Ferrari, I'm gonna give three, Ferrari, um, 458 Special A.

• 55:51Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 55:52Speaker 01

And then I would say, um,

• 55:56Speaker 01

  The Carrera GT has been.

• 55:58Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 56:00Speaker 02

  You need.

• 56:00Speaker 01

Those are like my, like, those are like my, you know, those are my.

• 56:03Matt Farah?

When you go up from where you're at, it's 4GT and then Carrera GT.

• 56:07Speaker 01

I'm like right here right now, you know, so it's like, that's next.

• 56:09Matt Farah?

You add a zero and then two zeros.

• 56:12Speaker 02

But you need a, you don't have a mid-engine car, right? You need that.

• 56:15Speaker 01

  I don't.

• 56:16Speaker 02

So that's the problem. You have to replace, you gotta get one in there.

• 56:18Speaker 01

And you can, you can see it. It's like turning. That's the only thing that's kind of missing.

• 56:21Speaker 02

Those are all pretty different, though.

• 56:23Speaker 01

They are different. They are different and.

• 56:25Speaker 02

  They deliver different flavors.

• 56:25Speaker 01

I've driven one of those. I've driven the 458, but I haven't driven the 4GT and I haven't driven the Carrera.

• 56:33Matt Farah?

  4GTs are very special.

• 56:35Speaker 01

  I heard.

• 56:35Matt Farah?

As are Carrera GTs, but they're different.

• 56:37Speaker 01

  Way different.

• 56:38Matt Farah?

  4GTs are smooth, really smooth.

• 56:41Speaker 01

  Really?

• 56:41Matt Farah?

Like eerily smooth, yeah. And Carrera GTs are like, very like sharp and, and like on your fingertips. They're both really nice.

• 56:52Matt Farah?

You know, you drive and you go, I understand why these are very expensive.

• 56:55Speaker 01

If anyone wants to let me drive one, you gotta, you wanna, wanna lend me one?

• 56:57Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 56:57Speaker 01

  I'm open, I'm open for.

• 56:59Matt Farah?

Somebody could help you find one.

• 57:00Speaker 02

Go, go visit Doug Demiro in San Diego.

• 57:01Matt Farah?

Yeah. Um, yeah, Doug is, Doug has the extra two zeros.

• 57:08Matt Farah?

Uh, regular cat reviews. Do any of the bigger NFL players have to do Shaq-style seat mods to fit in their car?

• 57:14Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 57:15Matt Farah?

  Yeah?

• 57:15Speaker 01

Absolutely. I mean, the ones who.

• 57:17Matt Farah?

Is there a guy, a go-to, that's the modder of the seat rails?

• 57:20Speaker 01

No, I, I would say that the guys who I know, I mean, most guys would just, to be honest, they would just buy the car that they fit in. But the guys who, that I know who are enthusiasts, who are, who are on the bigger side, they get the seat rails for sure. And they, and they're enthusiasts, so they know guys who are like, they can trust and everything.

• 57:38Matt Farah?

It would be funny if there's like one dude.

• 57:40Speaker 02

  Yeah, Johnny Legg.

• 57:40Matt Farah?

In the NFL, that's like, everyone knows, oh, you gotta call, uh.

• 57:44Speaker 01

I know like three people in the NFL who have 34s and I know for a fact one of them has seat mods in them. And I, and I thought about doing it, cause I mean.

• 57:52Matt Farah?

34 is the longest wheelbase one, right? If you actually wanted legroom, that's the one you'd want.

• 57:57Speaker 01

It's, it, it works well with seat, with, with the, like, you can't even tell. I mean, they can, they can just fit in a good, but like, I fit in that, like, NSX, the old NSXs, I don't really fit them in as well. But the, the GT-R, I sat in that and I was like, okay, I fit great in this, so, I mean.

• 58:12Matt Farah?

  GT-Rs are easy.

• 58:13Speaker 01

Yeah, I don't need to, I don't need to put seat rails in mine, but I feel like.

• 58:16Matt Farah?

Shaq, this, the Shaq shit was crazy.

• 58:18Speaker 01

Yeah, his are like, he's like in the, he's like in the, he's looking out the rear, like, you know.

• 58:22Speaker 02

Yeah, where they stretch the whole car.

• 58:24Matt Farah?

Remember the Gallardo, they did the 04 Gallardo, stretched like 18 inches. The door was like the size of his table, so funny.

• 58:32Speaker 01

  Just to get a Gallardo.

• 58:33Matt Farah?

I, yeah, right? In hindsight, remember them people did wide bodies on Hellcats?

• 58:39Speaker 01

  Gallardo, Gallardo Superleggera?

• 58:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah, they were nice.

• 58:43Speaker 01

  I like those.

• 58:44Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 58:44Speaker 01

I like those better than Huracans.

• 58:46Matt Farah?

Uh, there's an argument, if you've driven a stick one.

• 58:49Speaker 01

  Mm-mm.

• 58:49Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 58:50Speaker 01

  I haven't driven one, haven't driven.

• 58:51Matt Farah?

You, a stick Gallardo is a nice thing, yeah. R8's too, kinda the same. Uh, Unpimp Your Auto says, what car buying advice would you give young players who just got money for the first time?

• 59:02Speaker 01

This is crazy, cause I actually just talked about this yesterday. I, the, the first thing I would do was like, if you're finding, if you're going for a car that you wanna purchase, the, the least thing you should do is just go on the internet and try to find five versions of the cheapest version of the car that you can find. Before you go to the dealership that's close to you or whatever, like, find five cars and they could be cheap, the cheapest ones you could find, just so you know what the market is on them at their lowest.

• 59:30Matt Farah?

  Uh-huh.

• 59:31Speaker 01

And just so when you go into the dealership, you're not like blindsided by a 20K plus charge because they know you're in the NFL and you just think, oh, that's just what it costs.

• 59:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 59:40Speaker 01

Know, like, figure out how much this car really costs, especially if you're buying a used one. You know, you can search all that stuff, so, I mean.

• 59:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah, I bet people.

• 59:49Speaker 01

  But buy used, though.

• 59:50Matt Farah?

  Can take advantage of.

• 59:51Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 59:52Matt Farah?

Uh, Mini Finny says, uh, most common car found in an NFL parking lot?

• 59:57Speaker 01

  Like, most common, like?

• 59:58Matt Farah?

Player car, I think, is the question.

• 1:00:00Speaker 01

Like a, like a, I would say like.

• 1:00:05Speaker 01

  I would say like a G-Wagon or a Urus.

• 1:00:06Matt Farah?

  It's got.

• 1:00:07Speaker 01

  Bigger guys.

• 1:00:08Matt Farah?

  Big SUVs.

• 1:00:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:00:09Matt Farah?

  G-Wagons are interesting.

• 1:00:10Speaker 01

  Or like Raptors.

• 1:00:11Matt Farah?

Not great for like tall people.

• 1:00:13Speaker 01

  They're not.

• 1:00:13Matt Farah?

  No.

• 1:00:14Speaker 01

But but I would say like Raptor, Raptor, Raptor Rs, Raptors have been really popular.

• 1:00:18Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 1:00:18Speaker 01

Uh, the, the, the Rams, what are the TRX?

• 1:00:21Matt Farah?

  TRXs.

• 1:00:21Speaker 01

  Yeah, those are really popular.

• 1:00:23Matt Farah?

  Oh, you're playing in Dallas.

• 1:00:24Speaker 01

Yeah. TR, yeah, so like TR, TRX, Ram, Escalades. The Escalade Vs though, I've seen a couple of those this past year.

• 1:00:34Matt Farah?

  See, I'm, I'm a hater, I'm an Escalade V hater. I think it's dumb.

• 1:00:38Speaker 01

  They sound so good.

• 1:00:39Matt Farah?

They do, but if you put that exhaust on the regular one, it sounds just like that. It's not the engine, it's just that exhaust. And in practical terms, really, a 450 horsepower Escalade versus a 700 horsepower Escalade, what is the difference?

• 1:00:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:00:56Matt Farah?

How often are you in an Escalade? On the floorboard? If Garrett is out there, he's probably mad at me, because I was in Garrett, you know Garrett? You know that dude? Um, he's the American muscle, uh, HD influencer, he's from the South. Uh, he's like, uh.

• 1:01:14Speaker 01

I saw him, I've probably seen him.

• 1:01:15Matt Farah?

Yeah, he's like a black dude with like braids and he does all like crazy builds and stuff. Shout out to him, we love Garrett. But he has a fucking built Escalade with like 800 horsepower. And he took me for a ride, dude, and I was like, this is the stupidest car in the world, but he loves it, so.

• 1:01:31Speaker 01

  And they're so big too.

• 1:01:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:32Speaker 01

  Escalades are huge.

• 1:01:33Matt Farah?

  Huge. I don't, I don't like huge cars anymore.

• 1:01:35Speaker 01

  I don't, I mean.

• 1:01:36Matt Farah?

  I like little cars now.

• 1:01:37Speaker 01

4Runner, like, that's the biggest I would go.

• 1:01:39Matt Farah?

No, like, I'm not saying everyone has to drive like a tiny little econo box, but like, let's keep it in the fucking zone.

• 1:01:44Speaker 01

  Yeah. Lexus GX?

• 1:01:47Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:47Speaker 01

  That's like, that's perfect.

• 1:01:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah, like.

• 1:01:48Speaker 01

  That's the biggest I'll go.

• 1:01:49Matt Farah?

If you pull straight into a parking spot at the fucking grocery store, the cars on either side of you both need to be able to open their doors pretty comfortably. Like, that's, that's not too much to ask, right? I was just driving that Alpine today and it was the right size. We can talk about that later.

• 1:02:07Matt Farah?

Uh, Nice Cam says, do you or any other NFL players consistently go to the track?

• 1:02:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:02:12Matt Farah?

  To race?

• 1:02:13Speaker 01

So, my, my buddy Daniel Hunter, he, he, he lives in Texas. I mean, it's harder out in California, I would say. I try to go to the track, especially when I'm not driving my own car.

• 1:02:22Matt Farah?

  Peckler.

• 1:02:24Speaker 01

  But, uh.

• 1:02:25Matt Farah?

  Shout out to Peckler.

• 1:02:27Speaker 01

Yeah, a bunch of people do. I feel like, uh, I feel like more guys will go to the track.

• 1:02:32Speaker 01

Even if it's, you know, one of the ones you go to the Vegas and you rent it out.

• 1:02:35Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:35Speaker 01

More guys would do that, you know, even if they're not a car enthusiast in the league because guys like to be competitive and and test themselves and we're adrenaline junkies. So yeah, for sure. Guys go to the track. I've I I would say that some go like my buddy Daniel goes all the time, Daniel Hunter, big car guy.

• 1:02:50Matt Farah?

That's cool. Dustin says, what was your childhood poster car?

• 1:02:55Speaker 01

  Actually, the Viper.

• 1:02:56Matt Farah?

  The Viper?

• 1:02:56Speaker 01

I had the Viper with the three colors on it with the stripes going down.

• 1:02:59Matt Farah?

  Oh, I remember that one.

• 1:03:00Speaker 01

So I actually had the Viper as a poster card with, uh, and I had an Allen Iverson poster right next to it. And in in a quick little story about me and my brother who also played in the NFL, one time he jumped on my back and I rammed him through the wall, the drywall. Cause I was mad he's on my back.

• 1:03:16Matt Farah?

  Wow.

• 1:03:17Speaker 01

And we and we took the the Allen Iverson poster and we moved it over the hole and my mom walked in and she said, what'd you guys do right here? She, like, we tried to hide it, you know? So funny thing about posters, I had to give a shout to my brother.

• 1:03:30Matt Farah?

I was I was in I went to I was in college in Philly during Allen Iverson time and it was fucking crazy down there, Allen Iverson. He was fucking man, Philly at the time. Couldn't couldn't fucking tell him nothing. Um, throw some D's on it says, oh, if you weren't in the NFL, would you consider being part of a NASCAR pit crew as college football players transition well into those competitive roles?

• 1:03:52Speaker 01

No, absolutely. And I think we we saw that, we seen that video go viral like recently.

• 1:03:56Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 1:03:58Speaker 01

I mean, it's it's competitive, you know, you're on a time. It's like you're competing with yourself as well. I think that would be super fun, be around motorsports, not really, you know, behind the wheel. Um, you still part of a team. I think that's a good way for, I feel like football players, like we transition, it's so tough for us to transition from football life to like after football life.

• 1:04:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:17Speaker 01

Because we lose the team aspect. You can't go play pickup football anywhere, you know what I mean? Any other sport, any other sport, you could really like, you can go to the batting cages, you can go, you know, you can go play pickup basketball, you can play hockey.

• 1:04:28Matt Farah?

  Crazy.

• 1:04:29Speaker 01

Football is like one of those things where it's like, when you're done, you're done. So a lot of guys struggle. So I think this is a good way for guys to transition, still be part of something like team oriented, physical. Um, I think it's awesome. I think it would be.

• 1:04:41Speaker 02

I was talking to Bozy about it.

• 1:04:43Matt Farah?

Our buddy Bozy's on a pit crew and is very much enjoys it.

• 1:04:46Speaker 01

Yeah, I think it would be cool to try.

• 1:04:47Speaker 02

A friend or a friend was inquiring about it and I called Bozy and said, what's the process of getting in there? And he's like, at the top teams, a lot of the people that do go over the wall are former college athletes or pro athletes. And I had no idea.

• 1:05:00Speaker 01

  Oh yeah, it's pro sport.

• 1:05:01Speaker 02

And he's like, here's why, like, one, you gotta move fast, you gotta carry these heavy things, but also they're disciplined, they're trained up, they're already athletic.

• 1:05:08Speaker 01

And if someone's telling you you're doing it wrong, you gotta be able to fix it.

• 1:05:11Speaker 02

You'll fix it quick and you do it right. Yeah.

• 1:05:14Speaker 01

  High pressure.

• 1:05:14Speaker 02

I didn't expect that at all, yeah.

• 1:05:16Matt Farah?

That'd be a good career. And you do the travel thing.

• 1:05:20Speaker 01

How much are they getting paid?

• 1:05:21Speaker 02

At the top, top teams, they're making six figures, but it's what he said, like, top NASCAR teams, like, salaried six figures, but it's not crazy money. And then as you go down the, you know, the pole of pit crew stuff, like, some of them are contractors, some of them are salaried, you know, but also doing other things. It depends on how much value you can bring to the team besides just, like, carrying a tire, you know, maybe you're an engineer, maybe you can fix the car, stuff like that.

• 1:05:46Matt Farah?

Make a really good bacon, egg, and cheese.

• 1:05:48Speaker 02

  Do that, you know, marketing.

• 1:05:50Matt Farah?

  That's what I do, so.

• 1:05:52Speaker 02

I know that viral video, that guy you're talking about, he's reading, like, he speaks like four languages and is reading all these amazing books.

• 1:05:58Speaker 01

  That's so cool.

• 1:05:59Speaker 02

And then goes, moves so fast with the jack that I have to drag, and I'm like, clack, clack, and he just runs around the car, it's so amazing.

• 1:06:06Speaker 01

  Yeah, no, that was cool.

• 1:06:08Matt Farah?

Ted Stryker says, what would be the biggest car buying mistake you've made and a lesson you learned from that? Do you have a big mistake?

• 1:06:15Speaker 01

Um, I actually don't have too big of mistakes. My second car was a RS7 that I sold for a trade-in value on a Porsche, so like, I got a significant, yeah.

• 1:06:26Matt Farah?

  That sounds okay.

• 1:06:27Speaker 01

That was like, I mean, that was the most money I had lost on a car, essentially, but...

• 1:06:31Matt Farah?

Like, just buying a new car and taking regular depreciation on it?

• 1:06:34Speaker 01

Exactly. I bought it used, though, I took regular depreciation on it, drove it a ton, so I think that was...

• 1:06:40Matt Farah?

That was a mistake, that's life.

• 1:06:41Speaker 01

But I think that the biggest thing that I did on my first car was when I was buying it... The guy who was helping me buy it, shout out to Mike, uh, Mike Lastovich, he was telling me, just get like the top of the line version. Like, you know, you're gonna, you know, just like get the top of the line version. You're in Minnesota. You have a little bit of money now. And I was like, no, I'm gonna go the cheap route. And then I ended up modifying everything to where I had got all the things that I could have just got from the factory. So I think that was like my biggest mistake was like, you know, if it, if it makes sense, it makes sense, but.

• 1:07:14Matt Farah?

A lot of people learned that like with Hondas in high school and you learned it with like Audis and big money. But yeah. No, it's, yeah, but just if you, if you know you're gonna wanna go fast, figure out how to get the fast one from the factory. And then if you need to go further, okay, but yeah, buy this, buying the small one and trying to make it the big one.

• 1:07:32Speaker 01

Yeah, that's that. I was like, I learned, I learned right away.

• 1:07:35Matt Farah?

That's a good lesson. That's life lesson. I love it. Uh, follow Eric's Instagram. It's like 80% car shit. Uh, with some football sprinkled in there. And, uh, dude, thank you for joining us. I imagine we'll, uh, we'll see you up on the mountain, right? You're up there pretty regularly.

• 1:07:52Speaker 01

I'm at, I'm at car shows. I'm just, I see, that's where I meet everybody. I see everybody there. I'll be around.

• 1:07:57Matt Farah?

Good. It's, I'm glad, I'm glad you had time out in person.

• 1:07:59Speaker 02

Yeah. Now we know you have like six cool cars.

• 1:08:02Matt Farah?

Yeah, you have, you have excellent taste.

• 1:08:04Speaker 01

I don't think I'm taking the CRX up to Angels Crest anytime soon.

• 1:08:07Speaker 02

Oh, it'd be so fun. Why?

• 1:08:08Matt Farah?

Fun. Be fun. Just make sure you have good brake pads and fluid.

• 1:08:11Speaker 02

You fuck up the power to weight a bit.

• 1:08:12Speaker 01

So actually, actually, I need like, it has R12 AC.

• 1:08:17Matt Farah?

  Uh-oh.

• 1:08:18Speaker 01

  Yeah, it has no AC.

• 1:08:20Matt Farah?

You're gonna have to convert it, but it's pretty easy to convert. I have a person for that.

• 1:08:25Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:08:26Matt Farah?

I do. I tried to convert, I have a, my wife has a Mitsubishi Delica, the J, the JDM van. And the R12 died. Converting it is, according to the Delica forums, like a nightmare. Where almost the entire engine has to come out of the car to convert the AC.

• 1:08:43Speaker 01

  I don't want that.

• 1:08:44Matt Farah?

Yeah. No, no, in, in a CR, in an old Honda, it's much, much easier. In, in this car, it's like, oh, I guess it doesn't have air conditioning anymore. Like, sorry.

• 1:08:51Speaker 02

What tires are on the CRX?

• 1:08:53Speaker 01

  It's got some hand cooks.

• 1:08:54Speaker 02

  Yeah. Oh, it'd be fun.

• 1:08:55Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:55Speaker 02

  It's a mountain drive.

• 1:08:56Speaker 01

No, and actually like, I might drive it up there, but I can't take, take anybody to passenger seat.

• 1:09:01Speaker 02

You gotta build up speed on the flat, right? Build up speed in the valley and then just keep going. Don't lift off the throttle.

• 1:09:06Speaker 01

The car rips, man. It's, they're fast. They're, they're, I mean, here we go talking about cars. We're trying to wrap up, but at, at the same time.

• 1:09:14Speaker 01

The car is faster than I thought it was when I, you know, it's fun, it's engaging, but when I put my buddy Kenneth Murray in the passenger seat, when we were going uphill, I was like, oh, I feel, I feel, I feel the slowness now.

• 1:09:24Matt Farah?

Dude, so I was driving that Alpine this morning, this, this thing is from Europe and we're gonna do video about this car, but it's 2,400 pounds. And look, I'm, I weigh what I weigh, but like, I don't know how to drive a car without my own weight in it, so, so I'm driving, ripping this fucking thing, and our friend Thaddeus goes, you have to take me for a ride. I said, okay. Thaddeus weighs probably 30 pounds more than I do. And so he's in the passenger seat, so we're going, and he's like, man, this car feels great. And I didn't want to say like, you should feel it without you.

• 1:09:55Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, it's not, it's not feeling the same for me right now.

• 1:09:59Speaker 02

He's probably, he's driving his Vegas, listening right now.

• 1:10:02Speaker 01

I was excited to take my friend to show him how fast the CRX was, like, bro, watch how fast it is. And then I'm like, we're kind of, I'm like, we're kind of putting around right now, dang.

• 1:10:09Matt Farah?

Yo, you think this is great? You should try it without you.

• 1:10:15Matt Farah?

Yeah, no, a CRX is, it'd be mobbing up there, it'd be a good time. I saw, I, I talked to a lovely woman up there this morning named Sarah, who was driving a Mercedes 240D four-speed up the fucking hill, which is like chugga chugga, chitty chitty bang bang shit. I was like, have you ever timed yourself? She's like, it's about 45 minutes. I was like, I think it might be long.

• 1:10:40Speaker 01

I was, I, I, at first I was driving the Porsche up there all the time. I would go all the time with the Porsche, I still do, but the first time I drove the Mustang, I'm like, how much time am I spending up here? Like, this is like double the time.

• 1:10:52Matt Farah?

Yeah, but it's fun. It is a good time. I do like driving old cars up there, man. Thank you for joining us. This was great. Thank you to our patrons for asking such good questions.
