What’s Going On with the Pixel 9A?

This week, Marques and Andrew discuss the return of the Pebble smartwatch, fast-charging EV's, and the Pixel 9a! They also talk about Google Assistant officially riding off into the sunset while Gemini takes center stage. We wrap it up with another eBay guessing game that Andrew cooked up with Ellis and Adam stepping in while David is away on vacation. Of course, we close it out with trivia. Enjoy! Support for the show comes from Jira by Atlassian. AI is only as useful as the context it has to work from. But when that context is scattered across tools, threads, and DMs, that means your team and your AI agents end up flying blind. That's the problem that Jira solves. What's the goal tied to your project? What got decided last week in Slack? Atlassian's teamwork graph pulls all these pieces together from Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more, so nothing falls through the cracks. With Jira, you can actually share that context with the AI agents you already use, like Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, assign them work directly, or connect your agents through MCP. Spend less time digging through endless links and DMs, less time chasing down what got decided and by who, and more time actually shipping. Learn more at jira.com.

• 1:29Speaker 01

  That's J-I-R-A dot com.

• 1:32Andrew Manganelli?

Did they brought out the Vista Widgets?

• 1:34Speaker 01

  I love Vista Widgets.

• 1:35Andrew Manganelli?

Would you pay $1.49 a month for them?

• 1:39Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:46Speaker 01

So what is up, people of the internet? Welcome back to another episode of the Waveform Podcast. We're your hosts. I'm Marquez.

• 1:52Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm Andrew.

• 1:53Speaker 01

And this week, the two of us are missing David, but that's okay. He'll be back soon. And we're going to be talking about a whole bunch of stuff. There's some Google Stories. There's the Pixel Watch and some... Why did I say Pixel Watch again? The Pixel 9A and Tensor G5 stuff. That video is out. If you want to see it on the main channel, we also talk about Pebble Watch 2. That's what I meant to say. The end of Google Assistant is also a story we can hit on and we're gonna wrap it up at the end with our keywords eBay game, which is a lot of fun.

• 2:21Andrew Manganelli?

  Yes, but first.

• 2:23Speaker 01

  Yeah, first we do.

• 2:24Andrew Manganelli?

  Ellis has a correction.

• 2:26Speaker 01

Yeah, I've been waiting for this for a while.

• 2:28Andrew Manganelli?

I know, probably the biggest correction we've ever done.

• 2:30Speaker 01

Well, I just know it's been eating you up, Ellis. So I just wanted to give you the floor to address.

• 2:34Speaker 03

All right, I've made some mistakes in the past, right? I've got some mistranslations in here and there.

• 2:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Whoops.

• 2:39Speaker 03

  Stuff has happened.

• 2:41Speaker 03

This has been insane. I've gotten dozens, if not hundreds of emails, DMs, like every way people were able to reach out to me, they could to let me know that in the 2005, in the 2005 Dinoco 400, which was the title race for the 2005 Piston Cup, which Lightning McQueen stuck out his tongue to finish, all facts I said, that it was a tie.

• 3:11Speaker 03

And Lightning McQueen did not win that Piston Cup.

• 3:15Speaker 01

  Zero Piston Cups.

• 3:16Speaker 03

For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about the Pixar movie Cars, that I got one random thing. The man has seven.

• 3:24Speaker 01

  Piston Cup.

• 3:25Speaker 03

  He has seven.

• 3:26Speaker 01

  That's huge.

• 3:27Speaker 03

  He has seven.

• 3:28Speaker 01

  It's like.

• 3:30Speaker 03

All right, look, I'm well aware this would have been Lightning McQueen's, it would have been the first rookie to win a Piston Cup. I'm well aware that in the makeup race or the points evening out race at the Los Angeles Motor Speedway a few weeks later, Lightning McQueen chose to not race and make a stand. I don't care. Stop messaging me about cars. I checked. It was a joke. It was not that serious. I was talking about car of the tongue.

• 3:58Speaker 01

I do remember like a Stephen A. Smith clip where someone asked him to compare like Lightning McQueen as one of the goats. And he like went to his whole rant about like, he doesn't have enough Piston Cups. He doesn't have enough championships. And I was, I thought that was pretty great. You know, the fans, the Cars fans, they, they know the movie well, the lore.

• 4:14Speaker 03

You know, and yeah, just thanks for letting me know, guys, but like, it's, we're cool.

• 4:20Andrew Manganelli?

  And don't let him forget.

• 4:21Speaker 03

  Yeah, gosh, yeah, seriously. Anyway.

• 4:26Andrew Manganelli?

I have one more, one more quick, cool thing to show off. Do I get to call this fan art? We had somebody who is a keyboard creator make us a custom waveform keyboard, which is pretty sweet. So it's it's mosaic. This is his. I should forgot the name of the keyboard before I say it out loud. But he has like a cool little MKB HD saw here for everyone wondering. It's just black, but it has a red top, kind of like greenish colors. And then WVFRM are a little more bold in the characters.

• 4:58Speaker 01

I like that. That is so sick. I was I walked in and I was like, oh, and you made like a little custom keyboard. That's cool. It's so heavy.

• 5:06Andrew Manganelli?

I just want to figure out the name of it. The system 65, but pretty sick. I kind of think this has to be our typing alphabet typing test. Default keyboard now.

• 5:19Andrew Manganelli?

Keyboard, the spacebar needs a little work, but that's my fault.

• 5:24Andrew Manganelli?

What'd you type? Marquez is awesome.

• 5:26Speaker 01

I typed, this is the coolest keyboard twice.

• 5:32Speaker 01

  Sounds very slow.

• 5:34Andrew Manganelli?

By the way, we're working on a keyboard video for the studio channel that is unhinged. And I'm extremely excited for it. In fact, one of the parts that I bought for one of the keyboards is so absurd that I think I have to take it out of the video. So keep an eye out for that. But let's get into the news.

• 5:50Speaker 01

The first thing that's showed up on my timeline was a pixel watch coming back.

• 5:54Andrew Manganelli?

  Why did I keep pixel?

• 5:55Speaker 03

  That's the third time today.

• 5:57Andrew Manganelli?

It's not even called the pebble watch.

• 5:59Speaker 01

It's like when you type the wrong word and it's auto corrected and you you delete it and you type it again and it autocorrects again. My brain keeps auto correcting it to the wrong word.

• 6:06Speaker 03

  Stop fucking doing that.

• 6:09Andrew Manganelli?

I think it's fair to to let everyone know that you and Ellis landed on a flight at like 7am this morning.

• 6:14Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:15Andrew Manganelli?

There might be some sleepy talk here.

• 6:17Speaker 03

It was it was two days ago. Get up, you know, 4am to catch a 7am flight, land, shoot, three hour drive, shoot, hour drive to the hotel, wake up, hour drive, shoot all day, airport, land at 7am, sleep on the couch.

• 6:34Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, I was just sleeping on the couch.

• 6:38Andrew Manganelli?

But, um, okay, Pebble, we're calling it the Pebble Watch announcement because it is a company from the creator, uh, what's Eric? I'm gonna, do you know how to pronounce his last name?

• 6:49Speaker 01

  Mijakowski.

• 6:50Andrew Manganelli?

No, but I'm gonna try. Yeah. Mijakowski.

• 6:53Speaker 01

  Mijakowski.

• 6:53Andrew Manganelli?

Mijakowski. Thank you. So he created a new company called Core Devices. I think you all talked about this a few weeks ago.

• 7:01Speaker 01

  We did.

• 7:01Andrew Manganelli?

And I missed that conversation. So I don't know what you all said about it.

• 7:06Speaker 01

We, we knew that this was coming. We didn't know exactly what it would look like or how it would manifest, but the idea of bringing a simple smartwatch back that pairs to your phone appealed to basically all of us. We thought that was a cool idea. We had a lot of nostalgic thoughts about our old Pebbles and how much we liked them and how e-ink seems to be a great idea and a long, long battery life on a smartwatch could be awesome. So now we actually can see what it looks like, which is about what we expected, I would say, same shape.

• 7:34Andrew Manganelli?

It's a new company called Core Devices, um, and they announced two watches that they plan on bringing out this year and same shape. You're very right because while this isn't actually Pebble, it is still, uh, very along the same lines of what Pebble was when they were eight years ago, I think. Um, so open source operating system. It's, um, like e-ink display, great battery life. And in fact, they're using some old Pebble parts in some of the watches.

• 8:00Speaker 01

  That's nice.

• 8:01Andrew Manganelli?

So yes, it does look similar because the Core Duo 2, not a confusing name at all, considering that's an old Intel processor.

• 8:07Speaker 01

Core 2 Duo. It's called the Core 2 Duo.

• 8:11Andrew Manganelli?

  It's called the Core.

• 8:12Speaker 01

Core 2 Duo, the same name as the Intel.

• 8:14Andrew Manganelli?

Core 2 Duo, yeah. And they said this is basically the Pebble 2 redone.

• 8:20Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 8:21Andrew Manganelli?

So it's coming at $149. It is the same frame as the Pebble Time 2 because they found someone with a bunch of extra parts that were never used. So they're literally using the same, uh, watch face exterior for it. Black and white paper, uh, e-paper display, 30 days of battery life. It now has a speaker in the device to chat with AI assistants and this one should be coming out in July. So that's the cheaper of the two. Then they also have the core time two or core two time. I don't know.

• 8:49Speaker 01

  This is core time two.

• 8:50Andrew Manganelli?

Time two. That's probably why I got it.

• 8:52Speaker 01

  Slightly confusing.

• 8:53Andrew Manganelli?

This is the more updated device, $225. It's going to have a touchscreen. They don't want it to have super complicated apps, but they just still want the ability to navigate through touch operation versus only buttons. There still will be buttons. It's still 30 day battery life, still has a speaker. It has an upgraded chip that can do step and sleep tracking. And there's no official date on this, but they still said 2025.

• 9:17Speaker 01

Yeah, no, I like the way it looks a lot. This, I remember reviewing and having, I had a red pebble with a black band. And the super long battery life, like week plus battery life was already awesome about it. And getting used to testing all these other smartwatches like Moto 360 and Galaxy Watch at the time, which had like a day and a half battery, just made me wish I could have a week long battery life on a smartwatch. So that was the number one thing I really liked. Obviously the screen is not going to be nearly as bright or beautiful and won't show as much stuff. But if you don't care about that, if you just want time, temperature, uh, basic status stuff, notifications.

• 9:52Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 9:53Speaker 01

That's kind of all you need. And I am excited for these.

• 9:57Andrew Manganelli?

I, yeah, me too. I kind of think I like the cheaper one better because I've been realizing, you know, I'm now like two years into wearing this all the time and just.

• 10:07Speaker 01

  What is it?

• 10:08Andrew Manganelli?

My, uh, Phoenix nine. I forget exactly which one it was because they switched from the Epics brand, but Garmin.

• 10:14Speaker 01

  Yeah, the Garmin.

• 10:15Andrew Manganelli?

I'm convinced this like circle is just like engraved into my wrist at this point. Every time I take it off, I go, that can't be good for me.

• 10:23Speaker 01

I took off my watch the other day and just was like, oh my God, what is that on your wrist?

• 10:28Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 10:29Speaker 01

It's the mark of having used a smartwatch for a long time.

• 10:31Andrew Manganelli?

It is. So I'm assuming the cheaper one though, because it doesn't have the chip for sleep tracking and stuff. I'm assuming it doesn't have, it's just flat on the bottom. And I mostly just at this point want to tell time and get basic notifications. So that seems kind of awesome.

• 10:45Speaker 01

It seems also like this will be probably better for Android than for iPhone.

• 10:52Andrew Manganelli?

It says it in, yeah, in a lot of these articles, it specifically says it's still having some.

• 10:56Speaker 01

The idea behind that is Apple, when they make a first party accessory to the iPhone, gives themselves more access to the iPhone than they give anyone else. So when they make headphones like AirPods or whatever, they don't give all their Bluetooth headphone manufacturers the same access. And so inherently there will be features in Apple's accessory that aren't in others. That's true about, go down the accessory list about everything. And so smartwatches, they give lots of things, like lots of plugs to the Apple Watch, that they will not give to any other smartwatch. Android, on the other hand, is Android. This lets you flip the switches, turn on notifications for certain things, turn them off for certain things. And as an Android user, I mean, I use both phones, but Apple Watch over here for the iPhone,

• 11:40Speaker 01

I'm happy to drop a pebble on this wrist. And I think I'm gonna be the dual watch. Yeah.

• 11:45Andrew Manganelli?

I will not allow it. Two watches? There's something about having like the super simple pebble watch on one hand and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 on the other.

• 11:53Speaker 01

I gotta put, because a lot of the comments are echoing the same thing. Like, once you have an Apple Watch, it's hard to give it up. You kind of get addicted to the notifications, the closing your rings, the things that it's good at. And I don't want to stop using the Apple Watch, but I also feel like I would flip it to theater mode and just kind of ignore it on my left wrist while I use the pebble on the main wrist.

• 12:13Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, I'm at the point where I still love this Garmin watch and I love the battery life. But at this point, I just don't have the time to go out and hike like I used to. So like, this thing looks brand new, where my Epics 2 looked like it went through a war.

• 12:27Speaker 01

  That thing was used.

• 12:28Andrew Manganelli?

It was used, yeah. And like. But I can't, I like the just quick time and the quick like text message checking.

• 12:35Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 12:35Andrew Manganelli?

So I think I just want.

• 12:37Speaker 04

But if you were on iOS, you would also run into the same problems with your Garmin.

• 12:41Andrew Manganelli?

Similar ones. Yeah, they're saying specifically like not being able to reply to notifications inside with an iPhone or connected to an iPhone with Pebble.

• 12:49Speaker 04

Yeah, like Garmin has like the auto replies, you know, you can like reply like, okay, yeah, like just the basic ones. You can't even do that on iOS.

• 12:56Andrew Manganelli?

Have, it's so funny. Like I've been, like, Lane's been asleep on me. Like, I've been in her rocking chair and Claire's texting me. I only have my watch to reply. And I have to be like, which of these seven replies best like explains what is happening now? It's just like, okay, period. Let her decipher that one.

• 13:14Speaker 01

Good enough. Yeah. That is funny.

• 13:16Andrew Manganelli?

Uh, I do have one other smartwatch.

• 13:19Speaker 04

  Yeah, what is it?

• 13:19Andrew Manganelli?

Maybe we shouldn't call it a smartwatch, but since we're talking about watches, I saw this and we're talking about simple watches. This is the Atari 2600 My Play Watch that just got announced. It is $80. Like Pebble, it feels extremely basic.

• 13:36Andrew Manganelli?

Maybe more simplistic in some ways. There's no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi on this, so there are no notifications, but it's a watch styled after old Atari systems that can do some very basic fitness tracking, like step count, heart rate and calories, except you can't send it to your phone. It's just on watch. But there are three, so there are four Atari games you can play on it. Centipede, Missile Command, Pong and Super Breakout.

• 14:01Speaker 01

  On the watch?

• 14:02Andrew Manganelli?

On the watch, and it also has just like watch bands and watch faces that are very Atari like and or Atari sound effects for your alarms and or not notifications, alarms and timers.

• 14:14Speaker 01

I'm developing a hot take in my head.

• 14:16Andrew Manganelli?

I don't think it will be that hot.

• 14:17Speaker 01

I just feel like nostalgia gets used to mask how bad products are sometimes. And if you build an entire product around one nostalgic thing, red flags just start going off in my head. And if I. Am part of the generation that cares about this thing, I'll probably just ignore it and just buy it because I love it. But I, why would I want to play Brickbreaker on my watch, you know?

• 14:40Andrew Manganelli?

Uh, first of all, Brickbreaker is not one of them.

• 14:42Speaker 01

  Oh, sorry. Snake. Which one?

• 14:46Andrew Manganelli?

Centipede, Missile Command, Pong, and Super Breakout.

• 14:48Speaker 01

Do I want to play Pong on my watch?

• 14:50Speaker 04

You're damn right you want to play Pong on your watch.

• 14:52Andrew Manganelli?

So I have a question for Adam that I think might answer your question on this is like, it's 80 bucks. This is not the most expensive watch because this, you know, I think we like watches like Garmin and Apple because they connect to our phone and therefore it feels like we have to wear them all of the time. Right? We're always tracking our health metrics. We're wearing them all the time. Since this doesn't do this, is this now just a watch that is part of your watch collection, Adam? That you wear at certain times?

• 15:19Speaker 04

100%. I was gonna say this looks like a watch that David would like. Cause David wears like an old Casio that he had like someone rebuilds into some custom thing. This is that for him.

• 15:30Andrew Manganelli?

This feels like a watch that's part of your watch collection and depending on the day, yeah.

• 15:34Speaker 04

There are people that will just have quirky watches.

• 15:36Speaker 01

  What day do you?

• 15:37Andrew Manganelli?

Airplane, wedding? Airplane with no wifi. You want to play some Pong on your, on the tarmac.

• 15:44Speaker 01

Cause you know, you have a phone, right?

• 15:47Speaker 01

So I just shot a picture. Okay. I, today's the day I wear the Atari watch because I'm for sure going to play.

• 15:51Speaker 04

But do you have Pong downloaded on your phone?

• 15:54Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 15:54Speaker 04

  So there you go.

• 15:55Speaker 01

Fair. Okay. I forgot to download it on my phone, but I will spend $80 to have a watch. That does.

• 16:00Andrew Manganelli?

  It looks pretty cool.

• 16:01Speaker 01

It does. I'm not gonna lie. It's got these nice colors, the watch band. It's got the retro color scheme on the watch band too. It's pretty cool.

• 16:07Andrew Manganelli?

I'm okay with like, I mean, this obviously is like, we're 100% nostalgia. That's all we're going after for. And not saying $80 is the cheapest, but $80 is probably the, you know, if this was $25, I would just assume it's a piece of E-waste.

• 16:23Speaker 04

And watches, that's a splurge. You can like easily convince yourself to spend $80 on a cool little digital watch.

• 16:29Speaker 01

So funny. Would you spend $80 on a?

• 16:35Speaker 01

An emulator app on your phone to do the exact same things.

• 16:38Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 16:39Speaker 04

  Absolutely not.

• 16:40Speaker 01

But you would spend eighty dollars on a, because eighty dollars in an app world is a lot. And it will probably be better, but it's world, it's a lot in the app world. Eighty dollars in the watch world is a little, so you would spend it in the watch world.

• 16:51Speaker 04

  Yeah, it's hardware.

• 16:52Speaker 01

  Interesting.

• 16:53Andrew Manganelli?

There's a piece of like having it and being able to see it on you that's different than an emulator app.

• 16:59Speaker 04

It's still jewelry at the end of the day, like it's just trying to tell people something about yourself. Like, I'm an Atari nerd.

• 17:05Speaker 01

  Yeah, there's some.

• 17:05Speaker 04

  And I like fun watches.

• 17:07Speaker 01

  Physical watch, for sure.

• 17:09Speaker 04

If I spend eighty dollars on a Pong app, no one knows I bought that app.

• 17:12Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 17:14Speaker 01

Until you break it out on the plane, the guy next to you is like, whoa.

• 17:16Speaker 04

Oh, my God, is that the eighty dollar Pong app? God, you're cool.

• 17:20Speaker 01

  Wish I had that.

• 17:21Andrew Manganelli?

Um, I have one more quick thing here. Uh, BYD announced charging tech that is twice as fast as Tesla's. Did you see this?

• 17:28Speaker 01

This one, I also saw the headline, so I'm gonna read it right now.

• 17:30Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, I can just summarize it for you real quick if you'd rather, okay?

• 17:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 17:34Speaker 04

  I thought you just did.

• 17:35Andrew Manganelli?

The BYD, yeah, they announced their Super E platform that can charge at peak speeds of 1,000 kilowatts or two times as fast as a Tesla V4 Supercharger. I mean, obviously, this is a good headline because they're gonna directly compare it to Tesla, which is always hot in the news, but I think aside from that, this is still pretty impressive. I think, so they're claiming it can add 250 miles of range on a five-minute charge.

• 17:57Speaker 01

  Sick.

• 17:58Andrew Manganelli?

Obviously, I feel like at what point do we, are we allowed to stop saying that like, it depends on charging curves and battery percentage? Because this just feels like the metric we talk about.

• 18:06Speaker 01

Miles per, like, minute of charging?

• 18:09Andrew Manganelli?

  Peak miles per.

• 18:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 18:11Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. But still, 250 miles of range, five-minute charge. They said their, you know, their goal is to get as close to petrol refueling as possible.

• 18:20Speaker 01

That feels pretty close, no? Maybe to like a, like a low mile per gallon sports car? Like a fill-up could be three minutes and you could get 250 miles of range out of that.

• 18:31Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, I probably have like. Almost 400 miles in my tank.

• 18:35Speaker 01

  And it probably takes-

• 18:35Andrew Manganelli?

It's definitely less than five minutes.

• 18:36Speaker 01

If you had an empty tank and filled it to full, could be like two, three, three minutes.

• 18:40Andrew Manganelli?

In New Jersey, it's only taking more than five minutes because

• 18:43Speaker 01

You gotta wait for the guy-

• 18:43Andrew Manganelli?

We don't pump our gas and the guy's possibly got like 20 other people, but yeah.

• 18:47Speaker 01

So it's, that's, that's an impressive number. The reason I say I want to read this is because I see these types of announcements with like smartphones before and it'll be like Oppo announces 250 watt charging. And I'm like, is, are you announcing that you've got the ability to do it? Or are you like shipping things that are going to do this tomorrow?

• 19:04Andrew Manganelli?

So, so far, there's only two of BYD's vehicles that can take advantage of this.

• 19:08Speaker 01

And so it's the vehicle that can do it and it's also chargers in the real world that are actually doing it.

• 19:14Andrew Manganelli?

I don't know if they just announced it or, but there is in here talking about how they're, uh, they're building 4,000 of these new chargers across China.

• 19:22Speaker 01

  They're probably starting to build.

• 19:23Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, I believe, starting to build.

• 19:25Speaker 01

Okay. Yeah, that's gonna be sick. Yeah, they've promised a major investment in the infrastructure. So-

• 19:30Andrew Manganelli?

  With no timetable on it?

• 19:31Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:31Andrew Manganelli?

Just to be totally fair here.

• 19:33Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:33Andrew Manganelli?

Um, I think what made me the most interested in this is I just got this clip of Doug DeMuro on, is his podcast, The Cars and Bids Podcast, or is it just a Doug DeMuro podcast?

• 19:43Speaker 01

I don't know the name of it, but it is the Cars and Bids team.

• 19:46Andrew Manganelli?

Did you see his clip the other day? He was talking to whoever his co-host is.

• 19:50Speaker 01

  This Car Pod.

• 19:51Andrew Manganelli?

  This Car Pod.

• 19:52Speaker 01

Exclamation point. Um, shouts out to Doug.

• 19:54Andrew Manganelli?

So he, he like had this great clip where he's just saying like, I drive these Chinese cars and I'm astonished. They shouldn't have sent them to us because now we know how good they are and we're like, crap, we have to catch up.

• 20:06Speaker 01

  I watched that, yeah.

• 20:06Andrew Manganelli?

It was a really interesting conversation. Yeah. Um, but like, we've been super impressed with the Chinese cars that we've got. When we did the Le Auto Mega.

• 20:15Speaker 01

  We've had a couple.

• 20:15Andrew Manganelli?

Half the comments were like, this isn't even the coolest thing we have over here.

• 20:19Speaker 01

Yeah, that is, that is very true. There are lots of, I mean, the world of EVs is getting way more competitive and way more like everyone's catching up and making cool innovative things. And this is one of those innovative things, super fast charging. Love that. You saw the Le Auto Mega, you saw, we had the L9 here as well, which was in the Mega video, but that was the, the three row SUV. We've got BYD making, I want to say, didn't we see a, maybe we didn't know, was it a BYD bus? It was a bus with a BYD badge on it, but I don't know if that's the same BYD or like how that bus got there. I've seen other BYD vehicles in the US, so I wouldn't have been shocked by it.

• 20:59Andrew Manganelli?

What size bus are we talking here?

• 21:00Speaker 01

It was like a pretty young dang. Yeah. What? That was a Michael.

• 21:07Speaker 01

My god. It was in San Francisco, somewhere in between San Francisco and Sacramento as we were driving. Wait, hold on. None of you answered how big the bus was? It was a bus. It was a bus. It was a transit bus. Yeah. It was a, it was a coach bus. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Thank you. Anyway, I do see BID vehicles in the US today, which is already pretty cool, but like there was that other quote we've talked about multiple times of the Ford CEO driving the, Oh, yeah. Xiaomi SU7 or something, not wanting to give it back. Like, yeah, the, these cars are getting competitive. They're really good. So, yes. Faster charging, obviously awesome. Hopefully they build these like quickly. That'd be awesome. Random but related. Yeah. Over the weekend, I saw an ID Buzz just driving around in Long Island, not even like in, in the city. In the wild. Yeah, in the wild.

• 21:52Speaker 01

Spotted in the wild. I was like mid. Yeah. Super discounted. Like you can get one used for 60. No way. Yeah. Really that low? Yes. Sixty bucks? Yeah.

• 22:05Speaker 01

A lot of these, the other thing Doug's. No, yeah, I saw Doug talking. Is like, everything has depreciated. These EVs depreciate so fast that even if you're not into EVs, at a certain price, it's a pretty great deal. Like the Taycan is obviously a very expensive EV when it's brand new, but a two-year-old Taycan with 20,000 miles on it is 60% off. And so I didn't watch the whole clip of him talking about that, but is that because we don't know longevity of EVs yet, or we don't have a used sales market? Or he was, he was saying a Nissan Leaf is basically free at this point? Yeah, it's because it's kind of like a piece of tech. Like when you think about a, a two-year-old Android phone that's been used

• 22:45Speaker 01

and how it doesn't hold its value because the tech is moving along so quickly that there's no reason for it to hold its value. The new tech is just that much better. Why would you buy the old one? But the old versions are still very capable and for people who only buy a car every couple of years, the fact that you can get what was just $90,000 for 65 just feels like such a deal. So depreciation is working for a lot of people who are getting secondhand EVs. So that's, that's a very, it's a very trendy. Thing that is just happening with lots of cars that are.

• 23:18Andrew Manganelli?

One more question before I know Alice like audibly gasped looking at something over there. So before he tells us what prices, I'm assuming he saw. Do you think like a lot of people buying, they're becoming way more mainstream now, but a lot of people buying EV who would be buying new ones and selling them is like they're more tech head-esque people and like updating that feels like more like you're upgrading your phone or your tech versus then like upgrading your car. Most people, I mean, like every car I've ever bought is like, I've bought this. I'm going to take as much time not paying towards the financing as possible. Once I'm done until the, the wheels are falling off.

• 23:58Speaker 01

Yeah. So I guess for people buying new EVs now, it's definitely still early adopters, but it's creeping into the middle of the bell curve. So I think Teslas are everywhere and they feel pretty safe. Most people are cool buying a new, it's the most popular car in the world, obviously. But in the Rivian's and Lucids and a lot of other new EVs, it's still mostly early adopters. But you know, they're proving out there. People are buying them, using them for hundreds of thousands of miles and they're becoming more trusted as time goes on.

• 24:29Andrew Manganelli?

I will say there's like a, I have the R2 preorder. I really believe in Rivian, but every time there's that one article that pops up here and there of like, will Rivian make it to a BOA? I just go, man, am I like pulling a Fisker? Not that I think they're like Fisker, but like that's a scenario that's really scary of buying a car that's that expensive. And then a year later.

• 24:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:53Andrew Manganelli?

It being a brick pretty much.

• 24:54Speaker 01

I've talked about this in the autofocus channel and with a lot of other tech reviews. When I review a piece of tech, I gen- generally pay no attention to the stock price of the company. I just don't care how the company is doing. I'm a very product focused person. But the one exception that I have had to make is reviewing electric vehicles where people are expected to own them for six, seven, eight, nine years. And it's possible that the company that makes and services it won't exist in that amount of time.

• 25:26Andrew Manganelli?

And these aren't off the shelf parts that your mechanic has like.

• 25:29Speaker 01

Yeah, even Rivian now, like I'm well aware of very long lead times for replacement parts, repairs and things like that. I've got a little dent on my hood from like one of the first few drives where a little like rock dinged my hood. I'm never gonna get that replaced. It takes like three to five months to get a new hood. So that's just like one of those things you have to think about with new EVs today. So that's why it's still mostly earlier adopters. They hear that stuff. It's kind of like horror stories. Whatever, I'll just get the like standard option and I'll not think too hard about it and I'll get an EV in a couple more years. But yeah, the bell curve is starting to, starting to get up there, I think.

• 26:05Speaker 04

I also think that people buying EVs, at least originally, were people that could, for the most part, afford it and like be able to have that. And if something goes wrong, they could potentially get another car. Not like a brand new $70,000 car, you know, but like if this thing craps out on me, I could still afford to get like a $5,000 beater, you know? Where most people don't shop for cars that way. They will get a used car and run it into the ground.

• 26:32Speaker 01

Yeah, like in the very, very earliest days of EVs, that's kind of how it was, where if you had bought a Model S or something, for a lot of people, that was not their only car and they could rely on, oh, I'm going on a road trip, I'll take the gas car. But oh, I drive the Tesla for, you know, commuting and other stuff like that. That was true of like the earliest days of EVs when they were brand new and very expensive. But.

• 26:53Speaker 04

Speaking of commuting, Ellis found his new commuter car.

• 26:55Speaker 01

Yeah, what are you gasping at over there?

• 26:57Speaker 03

Okay, so I found a listing at a dealership in Patterson, New Jersey for a 2012 Nissan Leaf. This is like, I don't know if this is the first gen, but this is like a early gen.

• 27:07Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, that's the earlier one.

• 27:08Speaker 03

  Yeah, early gen.

• 27:09Speaker 01

Talking like 80 miles of range or something like that?

• 27:11Speaker 03

We're talking 73 miles of range.

• 27:14Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 27:15Speaker 03

Charges in just under eight hours.

• 27:18Speaker 01

  No fast charging.

• 27:19Speaker 03

  It's blue.

• 27:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:23Speaker 03

How much do we think this car costs?

• 27:26Speaker 01

How many miles does it have on it?

• 27:28Speaker 03

It has forty-three thousand, five hundred and sixty-one miles.

• 27:32Speaker 01

That's a lot of miles for a leaf.

• 27:34Andrew Manganelli?

The funny thing is when Doug uses this example, he's like, oh no, the old leaves still have some value to it. It's the new ones that are like.

• 27:40Speaker 03

Uh, I, the newer ones were less silly numbers. The newer ones were like, actually like, this seemed like a pretty normal used car price.

• 27:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, okay, really?

• 27:49Speaker 01

  I'm going in the teens.

• 27:50Speaker 03

  The teens?

• 27:51Speaker 01

  I'm going.

• 27:52Speaker 03

You're gonna rate it one through teens?

• 27:53Speaker 01

  Sixteen thousand, nine hundred dollars.

• 27:55Speaker 03

  Six.

• 27:56Andrew Manganelli?

  You're saying silly.

• 27:57Speaker 03

  Sixteen thousand?

• 27:58Speaker 01

  Sixteen nine.

• 27:59Speaker 03

Okay, not even, not even the newer leaves were that much.

• 28:02Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm saying like.

• 28:03Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 28:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Like.

• 28:06Andrew Manganelli?

  Four thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine.

• 28:08Speaker 03

Four thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine? What if I tell you that if this was Price is Right rules, you'd both be disqualified?

• 28:14Speaker 01

  No way, really?

• 28:15Speaker 03

This twenty-twelve Nissan lease, leaf in Patterson, New Jersey is currently on sale for three thousand, four hundred and ninety-nine dollars.

• 28:24Speaker 01

  That is crazy.

• 28:25Speaker 03

And I'm not an expert in the, the used car biz, maybe someone could explain what's going on here better, but I, I just looked up the VIN number just to make sure, like, is this a salvage title? Is there something like seriously wrong with this car? I found a previous dealer who listed this as sold with twenty-two fewer miles on it. So I don't know if someone bought it, drove it for twenty miles and said, I'm done, or if that's just test drive mileage.

• 28:50Speaker 01

That's just driving from one dealership to the other.

• 28:52Andrew Manganelli?

I wonder if a dealer bought it off a.

• 28:54Speaker 03

But, um, but if you live.

• 28:55Andrew Manganelli?

  Or like an auction?

• 28:57Speaker 03

Maybe, I don't know, but yeah, so if you live in the, the North Jersey, Patterson's in North Jersey, right?

• 29:02Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 29:03Speaker 03

If you live in North Jersey, have four thousand bucks to kill and want a, I should say, and want a fine car.

• 29:09Speaker 01

Just for context, that car new was thirty-five thousand dollars, roughly.

• 29:14Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 29:15Andrew Manganelli?

  New?

• 29:16Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:16Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 29:16Andrew Manganelli?

  Twelve?

• 29:17Speaker 01

  Yep. Yeah.

• 29:19Andrew Manganelli?

How much are used regular leaves going for? Actually, at this point, I kind of want to make EVs the eBay game we play later. That'd be the category, but I think uh eBay automatic is probably all of it.

• 29:31Speaker 03

  I see it. There's one in Newark, 2024 for 19. I see some 2017s for under 10.

• 29:39Speaker 01

It's crazy because those cars, they're not bad. They just have no range.

• 29:42Andrew Manganelli?

  There's a 2020 for $9,000.

• 29:45Speaker 03

Americans just hate compact cars for no reason.

• 29:49Speaker 01

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 29:51Andrew Manganelli?

  It's so silly.

• 29:52Speaker 03

  We can do it, guys.

• 29:54Andrew Manganelli?

  I like them.

• 29:55Speaker 03

Yeah, we all like, I mean, we all like them.

• 29:57Speaker 01

The leaf, man. It's one of those, uh, I, I reviewed the ID.4 not that long ago.

• 30:02Speaker 03

  Mm hmm.

• 30:03Speaker 01

And I don't think it was a video. I think it was just for Top Gear, but I did like sort of put it in article form. And it is like the, I had this segment in the Top Gear articles where I would compare the, the EV to a household gadget. To sort of contextualize how to think about where this one sits in the market. And the ID.4 was a toaster. It's just, it's an appliance. There's nothing exciting about it. It's whether it's new or used, you can't even really tell. It's just a car. And that was fine. And it got you from point A to point B. That's what the leaf is. It's just, you got a car. You, you got someplace to charge at work. Great. Successful. Mission accomplished. That's all. That's all you really think about with those.

• 30:45Speaker 03

My friend Ian, best friend of mine, uh, has this dream of converting a Subaru Baja into an EV. Uh, he does want to paint it cyan so that it can be a Baja Blast. But I really hope one day he accomplishes that dream and, uh, and has an electric Baja.

• 31:04Speaker 01

Don't let your dreams be dreams.

• 31:06Speaker 03

  Ian.

• 31:08Speaker 01

And with that, we should take a break. We'll go straight to trivia, of course.

• 31:16Speaker 04

Trivia. Okay, first question. The term leaf from the Nissan Leaf is actually a backronym for what?

• 31:27Andrew Manganelli?

  Elec.

• 31:28Speaker 04

  Ke? Ke? No, not, not.

• 31:30Andrew Manganelli?

No, I'm just saying like, is it, you get all four words and you're right? Is it whoever gets the most words inside it is right?

• 31:37Speaker 04

No, I want all of it.

• 31:38Andrew Manganelli?

One point for each word? It seems really hard.

• 31:42Speaker 04

  It's not that hard.

• 31:43Speaker 01

Leaf? It's four words. It's definitely four words. It might not be four words.

• 31:47Speaker 04

It's, it's four words. One of them has a hyphen, but it's four words. All right, all right. One point for word.

• 31:52Andrew Manganelli?

I'll propose one. There's only one point at stake. Whoever gets the most words wins. If one person, if we both get all four, then we both get a point.

• 32:01Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 32:01Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 32:01Speaker 04

  That's fair.

• 32:02Speaker 01

We'll see. Okay. Yeah. I didn't know it was backronym. Well, we'll think about that. Answers will be at the end like usual. We'll be right back.

• 34:15Speaker 01

All right, welcome back. Let's talk a whole bunch of the Google stuff of this week. First of all, publish the Pixel 9A impressions video. Just want to say, the embargo, big red flag. Uh, and I got to use the phone behind the scenes, obviously, and I shot my video, but the embargo specifically said, "In this impressions video," which is funny, I shot it in the exact same room as the Pixel 8A impressions video. "In this impressions video, you are only allowed to show the phone in hand, back of the phone, or the front of the phone home screen only." I am not going to call out any other channels for possibly not adhering to that embargo, but I adhered to that embargo. It is a massive red flag, though, because what have we said?

• 34:57Speaker 01

Anytime a company separates out, like, software from the normal impressions process, you're like, "Okay, so what's wrong with the software?" Remember the Surface Duo, which was kind of a soft...

• 35:08Andrew Manganelli?

Well, we all found out why that had separate embargos.

• 35:10Speaker 01

That one became very obvious. But anyway, the phone itself is about what we expected. We've been talking about leaks of this phone for a while, so it's $499, it is their mid-range slash budget end of the lineup for Pixel 9. It removes the camera bar, but it has dual cameras still. They're basically flush with the back of the phone, 48-megapixel regular camera, 13-megapixel ultra-wide, and...

• 35:35Speaker 01

A 5,100 million power battery, which makes it the largest ever in any Pixel. And I suspect that using it, it will have a great battery life. A lot of the other features of the phone are very similar to Pixel 9. It's got a plastic pack instead of glass, but it's got like pretty flat sides. I see these comments online about the bezels being enormous. And maybe I'm just used to testing relatively cheap phones, but it didn't strike me as like horrible. It was worse than a regular flagship, but it's not terrible. Uh, but it has bigger bezels and slower charging and regular cheap wireless charging. But in general, it's about what we expected. It's a Pixel 9A. So if you want to watch that impressions video, that's there. Update on that is the phone is actually delayed. We thought it would be coming out like sort of right after our videos were.

• 36:20Speaker 01

It is actually not coming out now until apparently April. We don't know exactly when, but they're saying April. We also don't know why. There is some speculation as to why, but that phone is slightly delayed.

• 36:32Andrew Manganelli?

They just said, we're checking on a component quality issue that's affecting a small number of Pixel 9A devices.

• 36:37Speaker 01

  It happens.

• 36:38Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. It's always a small number, but it's always the small number that completely delays an entire launch, which makes me think maybe that number ain't so small.

• 36:48Speaker 01

Well, you know, you can't ship, I mean, anytime it's either like somebody writes an article and the phone's out already and you have to take it back, or you just address it now and you delay the phone a little bit. So.

• 36:57Andrew Manganelli?

I want to give some credit and I want to make some speculation.

• 37:02Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 37:02Andrew Manganelli?

The credit I will give is you still can't preorder it yet, which I think is good because I'm sure there are plenty of other companies that would let a red flagged impression go out, have issues, delay it, but still let people send them money. So I'm glad you cannot do that yet.

• 37:17Speaker 01

  That's fair.

• 37:18Andrew Manganelli?

The speculation you have to immediately think is part of the reason this one, like they enforce harder rules on the original embargo and then immediately have something that's a big enough issue that it delays. It's very hard for me not to put those together and be like, was there something they knew about at this briefing? And then they decide not to talk about it later. Maybe, maybe not. I like to speculate a little bit.

• 37:46Speaker 01

The coincidence I think not guy.

• 37:47Andrew Manganelli?

Sprinkle a little drama in there somewhat sometimes, but um, yeah.

• 37:52Speaker 01

So what do you think? Do you think it is something specific?

• 37:54Andrew Manganelli?

I guess I don't know what, because the thing is, is they still let you all use the phone, right? And you still used it and everything felt totally fine. And also, they're very clearly checking all of those phones to make sure it doesn't have the problem before they're gonna let a bunch of people like review it.

• 38:09Speaker 01

So we wouldn't have seen that issue in our review impressions devices because those are all curated and handpicked.

• 38:15Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, and they've even gone so far as to, they're saying they're not sending them out to reviewers yet.

• 38:20Speaker 01

  Right.

• 38:21Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, so it seems like there's quite a bit of it because they could send them out, ones that they checked to not have the problems and still send them out and there still could be reviews done on them. I'm glad they're not doing that yet and letting it, but like this whole launch has, like you said, big, big old red flag on it.

• 38:36Speaker 01

  Yeah, a little damper.

• 38:37Andrew Manganelli?

I think everyone should be a little more careful ordering it and going through the proper uh, research before.

• 38:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 38:46Andrew Manganelli?

I guess spending money on it.

• 38:47Speaker 01

I guess the question is, I mean, they're never gonna tell us what the problem was, right? They're never, they're not gonna go, alright, we fixed it. Turns out there was just a vibration motor issue where some of them were shorting out. Oh, they're all fine now. Like, they're not gonna tell us. So it's just gonna go. Unless it's something stupid.

• 38:59Andrew Manganelli?

Well, it depends on the severity.

• 39:00Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, if it's enough for them to delay the phone, it's probably kinda significant. So I just feel like they're gonna just sell the phone in April and that'll be that. And we're never gonna find out exactly what it was unless it leaks, which it's Google, so it might. But I imagine they're just gonna put it on sale and it's gonna be what we expected all over again, just a month later.

• 39:21Speaker 01

That's all I can sort of picture happening.

• 39:23Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, I wanna try and guess what, what the issue is, but I have no idea.

• 39:26Speaker 01

  I have no idea.

• 39:27Andrew Manganelli?

And I think like it would expose a lot of potentially more stuff down the pipeline of why an issue is probably, maybe they have multiple factories working on it and something for, remember when the Steam Deck? Didn't they have two different factories working on it where one installed the fan backwards? So like magnetic cases were causing the fan issue to like stop? Or I guess that was a D brand issue, but because there were two separately manufactured Steam Decks.

• 39:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 39:53Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, you're probably right. We'll probably never find out.

• 39:55Speaker 01

I did say something, though, at the end of the Pixel 8 or Pixel 9A video, which is, because I mean, that was a very short impressions, like, all right, here's the phone. I can't show you anything, but here it is. You know, specs now. But at the end, I'm like, I also am curious about Pixel 10. And the reason I'm curious about Pixel 10 is the same as it's been for the last couple of months. Tensor G5 possibly having a big performance jump and being at the level of the Qualcomm chips and maybe finally being like a full flagship through and through from the outside hardware to the inside, the specs and the software and competing on every level. And to be honest, I like the Pixel phones, but they are not the highest performers at that max level. So I'm very curious if Pixel 10 is finally going to do it, if it's finally going to be the one that

• 40:40Speaker 01

reaches that flagship through and through level. And then, after the video goes out, we get a nice article that seems to pour water on that. And I actually said in the video, I feel like I'm jinxing it by saying this out loud. So here we are. The headline says Tensor G5's processor might drag down the performance of the Pixel 10 line. It might not be all that we were hoping for it to be.

• 41:03Speaker 04

Do you think it's because they're not calling it the Pixel X?

• 41:06Speaker 01

Yeah, they should call it Pixel X. The 10 feels like a big opportunity.

• 41:11Andrew Manganelli?

We somehow haven't seen the actual retail packaging yet. It could still do it. We'll know by next week.

• 41:17Speaker 01

Yeah. So the Pixel 9A feels like it's good because it has the same chip as the flagships. But that chip is just not a very good flagship chip. So it's like, great, you're on the same level of performance of the flagships, but the flagships are a step behind the Snapdragon 8 elites of the world. Got it. So we are hoping for this next Tensor chip, whatever the next generation is, G5, to really step up efficiency. Obviously, this is going to have some AI compute stuff on board. They all are doing that, too. But just in general, higher clock speeds, more memory bandwidth, just more processing.

• 41:54Speaker 01

Uh, performance in general, and it seems like maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up that high, and that's sad.

• 42:00Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. Did you read through this article? I read through it and understand very little of it. It's a bad week for David to not be here because, um, but I, I, I have a general gist of it. I also wrote down some quotes. If you'd just like me to read them off.

• 42:12Speaker 01

You can read the quotes. I can, I can sort of translate.

• 42:14Andrew Manganelli?

Maybe you can help translate, and then I do have an analogy to, and you can tell me if it's right or wrong.

• 42:19Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 42:19Andrew Manganelli?

Okay. So, uh, Google is designing its processor without Samsung's help and is going to TSMC to handle manufacturing. Here are some of the quotes that I don't fully understand at all, but I think I have an idea of what's going on. Google's said to be blending its proprietary designs. Uh, the brains and bronze of the chip, the GPU and CPU are reportedly coming from ARM and Imagination Technologies. Video codec ditches Google's custom big wave and Samsung's MFC in favor of Chips and Media's off the shelf solution. Display controller is also switching from Samsung's DPU to VeriSilicon's DC 9000. Fully custom ISP designed entire but entirely by Google, replacing Samsung customized ISP found in Tensor G4. Those seem to be the biggest changes we're expecting with G5.

• 43:03Speaker 01

Yeah. Tensor G4 is designed by Samsung, if you didn't know, which is funny because a lot of people don't, a lot of people don't know that these internal components are, are made by each other's competitors, like Samsung makes displays for the iPhone. It's all hilarious.

• 43:17Speaker 01

So when we first switched to Tensor in pixels, it became interesting because we assumed Google would be doing lots of optimizations for their own thing. And it turns out there wasn't that many. And now when they can finally design from head to toe their own chip and get it done straight through TSMC, they can switch a lot of parts out from Samsung designed parts that aren't necessarily optimized to specific other ones.

• 43:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Wait, real quick.

• 43:39Speaker 01

  Perform better.

• 43:40Andrew Manganelli?

  Samsung manufacturers, they didn't design.

• 43:44Speaker 01

Sorry, manufacturers. Yes. So there are lots of Samsung individual pieces on there that are not optimized. So ideally things get way better when they are able to control the entire vertical integration.

• 43:57Speaker 01

Uh, that's essentially what that means.

• 43:59Andrew Manganelli?

And from this article, it seems like, is Tensor G5 this big jump in tech? And like, i- is it the next big thing for Pixel? It's like a yes and no, where like, performance we're not going to see immediately is going to be like this big jump. But the fact that Google has so much more of a say in all of the design process of it, feels like a big step for the Pixel lineup and Tensor, because now we're getting closer to that, like, from the ground up ecosystem.

• 44:27Speaker 01

I think so, yeah. And, but I also just feel like, and maybe this is short sighted, but I just feel like you just need more raw horsepower in general.

• 44:35Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 44:36Speaker 01

Which is like what you get from the Snapdragon 8 Elite phones. Like, they just have more power and more headroom and can do more with the higher end applications and games and things that need more power. Tensor just doesn't have that type of power.

• 44:49Andrew Manganelli?

Do you think it has the potential, you know, maybe this is like, they had to take the step back to take two steps forward, where like, let's wrangle this more in closer to us, get us designing all the things for maximum efficiency. And then, you know, next year, year after, they can make more headway on that, because it's less Samsung manufactured stuff?

• 45:08Speaker 01

I think that could be the path, yeah.

• 45:10Andrew Manganelli?

So, that's what we're all hoping for.

• 45:12Speaker 01

Fingers crossed. I mean, it's not entirely damning this headline. It's just, the headline says, might. I'm not, I'm not gonna give up hope on Pixel 10 just yet.

• 45:23Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, can I make an analogy?

• 45:25Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 45:25Andrew Manganelli?

  That, as a film student-

• 45:27Speaker 03

This is such a bad take. I can't even believe this is about to be said.

• 45:31Andrew Manganelli?

As a film student, people are either gonna hate me or love me for this, or just not understand it at all. This feels like the movie Citizen Kane to me.

• 45:39Speaker 04

  How, Andrew?

• 45:40Speaker 01

  Citizen Kane, okay.

• 45:41Andrew Manganelli?

Okay. As a film major, everyone always talks about Citizen Kane being the greatest movie ever. It's like revolutionary and you need to all see it, and the movie sucks. I think it's super boring.

• 45:54Speaker 04

  You agree with him?

• 45:55Andrew Manganelli?

But, the movie itself revolutionized the film industry because of how we shoot things. They did a lot of stuff that has never been done before, and just like, movies and filmmakers and directors of photography going forward, changed the way that they shoot movies. So, i- is this, is the Tensor G5 the thing that, in of itself, isn't that amazing when we first see it? But is this step into completely changing the Tensor lineup?

• 46:26Speaker 01

That's not a terrible take. Maybe I would just say Tensor G1 was Citizen Kane.

• 46:32Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 46:33Speaker 01

Because it was their first step towards doing the whole vertical integration. I mean, they had other Qualcomm chips and Google phones in the past, and suddenly it's Tensor. So, oh, they're gonna do their own optimization. And they have had to work on that, and now this is gonna be five generations in. So I see where you're coming from. I feel like that has some legs. We could maybe perfect that.

• 46:53Andrew Manganelli?

It's got me really worried now about saying that out loud, but I don't know. I don't think it's a very good movie.

• 46:59Speaker 03

Okay, I just, I just want to point out, on the Wikipedia page for Citizen Kane, the third sentence, the third sentence, the first sentence, Citizen Kane is a movie, second sentence, it was his, it was Wells' first feature film, the third sentence, Citizen Kane is frequently cited as the greatest film ever made.

• 47:16Andrew Manganelli?

I know. That's his problem, I think, is because as a film student, you go in hearing that a thousand times, and then you watch it, and you're like.

• 47:22Speaker 04

  What was that?

• 47:23Speaker 03

Oh my god. If you don't get a single DM about this, I swear to god, I got hundreds about cars.

• 47:28Andrew Manganelli?

The only good, the only good thing about Citizen Kane is that the cheat code in The Sims was Rosebud, colon, semicolon, colon.

• 47:37Speaker 03

Spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it.

• 47:39Andrew Manganelli?

  That's all I'm saying.

• 47:40Speaker 01

  I have not seen it.

• 47:41Speaker 04

  There's been enough time.

• 47:43Speaker 01

Yeah, we might not, I mean, if you're, if this is a spoiler at this point, you weren't gonna see it, so that's fine.

• 47:49Andrew Manganelli?

Listen, never mind. I'll leave it there.

• 47:53Speaker 01

What do we always say? Expectations are the thief of joy. If you go into watching a movie and someone's already told you that this is the singular greatest film ever created, it cannot possibly live up to that.

• 48:03Andrew Manganelli?

  It's my dad's favorite film.

• 48:04Speaker 01

  Is it really?

• 48:05Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, and I went into that class.

• 48:07Speaker 01

  Has he ever seen Cars?

• 48:10Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 48:14Speaker 03

But how many, how many Piston Cups has Charles Foster Kane won?

• 48:18Speaker 01

I think It's My Dad's Favorite Film is a good bar. That's a good bar that you can clear.

• 48:23Andrew Manganelli?

  I have a lot of.

• 48:24Speaker 01

Watch a movie, you'll be like, oh, I could see why this is your favorite.

• 48:26Andrew Manganelli?

  I've met Adam's dad, he has great taste, so I can't, I don't think that's true.

• 48:30Speaker 01

That's one bar, and then This Is The Greatest Movie You Will Ever Watch is a very different bar.

• 48:37Andrew Manganelli?

  No, that's Tenet.

• 48:39Speaker 01

Inception was pretty good, too. If, if, not to harp on this too much longer, but if this, if people said it is the most important movie ever made. That's a high bar. To film it, like, that's way different. Yeah. Oh, so. As a viewer, I didn't enjoy it. Yeah, you can say it's. It was extremely important. But it might not be the best. I think I should have learned about it. I didn't really like it that much, though. Better than Doom, but. If the bar was, we're good. That's funny. Um, okay, there's still more Google stuff, though. So here's a, do we have the memoriam music ready for this one? Oh. We do, indeed. I just made Alice mad and he shut his laptop and kind of screwed that part up. Do the lights still work?

• 49:22Speaker 05

  Nope.

• 49:24Speaker 01

That's fine. We can still do this. Is David the beast that holds this podcast together? Maybe. I think we're finding that out. Yeah. Well, anyway, killedbygoogle.com noted website that documents all of the projects killed by this massive company full of people that don't talk to each other. They have one to add now. The grave is dug. It's just, it hasn't been lowered in yet. Yes. Oh. So we'll take this opportunity to say goodbye officially to Google Assistant. Lived a good life, was compared many times to other assistants like Siri, Alexa, and

• 50:03Speaker 01

others, but soon found itself passing the baton to the next generation of Google Assistant. Forcefully passing the baton. It had no choice in the matter. So right before stepping into the grave, it taught everything it knew to this new kid named Gemini and then lowered itself peacefully, never to be heard from again. We still have a little more time. Yeah, it's still in all of our speakers. You bring that, okay, that is a very.

• 50:29Andrew Manganelli?

That's a question I have. I'm gonna start by this, but so Google had an announcement on March 14th that Gemini will be taking over Google Assistant and Google Assistant will be replaced in 2025.

• 50:40Speaker 01

  Great.

• 50:41Andrew Manganelli?

They said, "Over the coming months, we're upgrading more users on mobile devices from Google Assistant to Gemini, and later this year, the classic Google Assistant will no longer be accessible on most mobile devices or available for new download on mobile app stores. Additionally, we will be upgrading tablets, cars, and devices that connect to your phone, such as headphones and watches, to Gemini. We're also bringing a new experience powered by Gemini to home devices like speakers, displays, and TVs. We look forward to sharing more details with you in the next few months. Until then, Assistant will continue to operate on those devices." So I guess it does say it's going to speakers.

• 51:12Speaker 01

  Eventually, yeah.

• 51:14Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, that pretty much just says sayonara, Assistant.

• 51:18Speaker 01

It's funny, because still to this day on Android phones, like if you hold down the power button, you get the Google Assistant thing, but if you have a widget on the home screen, it's still Google Assistant.

• 51:28Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 51:28Speaker 01

And so I recently was going to go to a restaurant and I opened Gemini and I just said the name of the restaurant so I could navigate to it, and Gemini just started telling me the history of the restaurant, like just doesn't know what I want to do with that information. Google Assistant still knows, like, oh, I say the name of the restaurant, pull up the listing. I'm gonna navigate there. So, you know, when that goes away, I'm still a little bit worried about Gemini. We'll see.

• 51:51Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 51:52Speaker 01

In general, it seems to have caught up and does mostly all the things that I want it to do from Google Assistant.

• 51:56Andrew Manganelli?

So they did in the press release say they've updated to a lot of the most requested features in it, and they have this actually pretty awesome list that like Gemini now has weather updates, it has event reminders and lists, maps, can work with Google Drive, asking about a video, play music, flights and hotels, what's on your screen, messaging, alarms and timers, something I think we were all actually pretty, can control your smart home, which is something I was very worried about. You can call on it, what else is here, messaging apps. The two things that are on this list that are not available on Gemini that is available on your Assistant is routines. And finding out what song is playing. I'm very confused at why I can't figure that one out. It seems like multimodal, the most obvious.

• 52:41Speaker 01

Yeah, that seems like the first thing it should do. Cause it has access to your camera, your microphones.

• 52:46Andrew Manganelli?

Routines is also a little weird. I think if you're someone who uses routines, you, it's really, I mean, it's in the name. It is part of your routine at that point.

• 52:56Speaker 01

I, my routines kind of fell apart. I kind of want to put those back together. I had some routines every morning. Well, yeah, I guess I should wait for the transition, but I, I had a routine where every morning I would say good morning to the speaker and it would do a whole bunch of things. It would open the shades. Yeah. I had to say it like that too, or it wouldn't respond. It would open the shades. It would start playing the news, tell me the weather, tell me the traffic to work, things like that. And then slowly, one by one, they started breaking and then I just stopped doing that routine because it didn't work anymore. So I gotta build that one up again. Maybe when Gemini is.

• 53:28Andrew Manganelli?

Why do we put up with this? I love all my Google integration stuff.

• 53:31Speaker 01

It was so cool and it worked though. It felt like magic. It's like, this is the smart home of the future. This is so great. And then it stopped.

• 53:37Andrew Manganelli?

It really is. And then you just spend an entire day resetting all of your Google devices to try and get it to work like it used to. And then you realize that half of the things have just been killed off.

• 53:47Speaker 04

Ever since moving in with my fiance now, she is very against home assistants and anything like that, home automation. So I have not had to live with it. And can confirm, pretty fine. It's cool. Just like press the button.

• 54:02Andrew Manganelli?

Just press a few extra buttons in the morning.

• 54:03Speaker 01

Yeah. Honestly, that's how most people are. It's fine. But yeah, I, I assume assistant will go out peacefully and Gemini will, will pick up the slack, but uh, yeah.

• 54:14Andrew Manganelli?

I'm sure it will be a smooth transition and Gem and I will definitely get none of the things wrong that were really simple for Google Assistant.

• 54:23Speaker 01

  Doubt.

• 54:24Andrew Manganelli?

All right. I've got one more Google headline for you.

• 54:26Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 54:27Andrew Manganelli?

Google Wallet launches new feature for kids to securely pay and store passes. So tap to pay for your children's phone.

• 54:33Speaker 01

Kids to securely pay and store passes. So you can send your kid to the store with like a.

• 54:40Andrew Manganelli?

Like a pass. A credit card on their phone for Tap to Pay. It like, okay, ultimately, this makes sense because what if your kids in like a bus pass or like if they're on a field trip and you need to, you don't have, no one really carries cash around with them. It's hard to give your kid 20 bucks to pay for lunch on like a field trip. So basically you can add credit cards onto their phones that you get an email every time they use it. You can like immediately revoke the credit card off of the phone in case they're spending it too much on. But like so much of this just reminds me of like, whenever there's microtransactions in a game, it's always like, oh, did you use your parents' credit card for these V bucks or whatever? And they're spending too much and Google was like, let's do that in real life.

• 55:21Andrew Manganelli?

Let's give these kids Tap to Pay so they can just go buy whatever they want with their phone until their parents get too many emails. And now the credit card companies.

• 55:30Speaker 03

This is bold of Google to assume that kids have Androids.

• 55:34Speaker 01

It's actually maybe the most interesting part because.

• 55:37Andrew Manganelli?

I didn't even think of that.

• 55:38Speaker 01

How many kids are gonna do this versus like if Apple Wallet or whatever? Uh, yeah.

• 55:43Speaker 03

I don't know though, but that's, it could be a way to get young people like when I, young people makes it sound like I'm talking about teenagers. Like the youngest possible demographic in Android as their first phone. Like this might be how they disrupt the pipeline.

• 55:58Andrew Manganelli?

There's a reason Samsung paid Mr. Beast so much money to do Samsung things because they're like, we've lost the younger generation. We need to now get the generation that hasn't even bought phones yet. And we want them to want Samsung phones.

• 56:11Speaker 03

Yeah. I mean, the, it doesn't seem like the Galaxy Fortnite skins really worked that well.

• 56:16Speaker 01

For the awesome ads, the awesome, all the A series, awesome, awesome, awesome. You remember those?

• 56:21Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 56:21Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 56:22Speaker 01

  You didn't see those commercials?

• 56:23Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 56:23Speaker 01

Oh, apparently the A in A54 stands for awesome. And they did these commercials where they would just call the phone awesome over and over again. And I, let me pull one up because I'm not describing it very well. And I feel like you guys are going to appreciate how weird this is.

• 56:37Andrew Manganelli?

It's, for some reason, it's reminding me of the Budweiser frogs. Bud. Why? Er.

• 56:45Andrew Manganelli?

Now that's memorable. Kids would remember that.

• 56:48Speaker 01

Awesome screen, awesome camera, long lasting battery life, awesome screen.

• 56:55Speaker 01

  This is a commercial.

• 56:56Andrew Manganelli?

  Wait, hold on.

• 56:59Speaker 03

  No, this is, this rules.

• 57:01Andrew Manganelli?

Are we gonna get copyright struck from this?

• 57:06Speaker 03

We can do a test upload first.

• 57:08Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 57:13Speaker 01

  How did this not work?

• 57:15Andrew Manganelli?

Whoever loses in trivia this year has to set that as their ringtone on their phone for the next month.

• 57:20Speaker 01

  That's a deal.

• 57:22Andrew Manganelli?

Wait. That was kinda a banger.

• 57:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 57:25Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm in on that.

• 57:26Speaker 03

  I like that.

• 57:26Speaker 01

It didn't convert any of the youth.

• 57:28Andrew Manganelli?

  It didn't.

• 57:29Speaker 01

Apparently. Yeah, so that's where we're at.

• 57:32Andrew Manganelli?

Lots of Google News. Look at this, the Google Podcast. We didn't talk about Apple once.

• 57:37Speaker 01

A whole Google segment in the middle. Wow. Good for them.

• 57:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 57:41Speaker 01

Well, our whole final segment is going to be a game. And we're gonna try, we're gonna play our keywords eBay game, trying to find the most expensive thing sold on eBay in a particular category. It's gonna be a good time. So before we get there, one more trivia question.

• 57:58Speaker 03

I'm sorry, the lights did where I broke the lights when Andrew made me mad about Dune. And you made me mad about Tenet.

• 58:07Speaker 03

Diss in all the movies I like.

• 58:08Speaker 01

  Interstellar.

• 58:09Speaker 03

Question number two. I wanted to do a question about microtransactions because it does seem like that is what the Fortnite card is for. And when, sorry, the, the, the.

• 58:20Speaker 01

  Google card.

• 58:22Speaker 03

The Google CS:GO skins card. I was looking around for the most absurd microtransactions in the history of games. Found some funny Fortnite skins, found some expensive Fortnite skins, forty dollars.

• 58:38Andrew Manganelli?

I feel like there's more expensive than that. You have to weirdly like buy them on eBay though. You like, you have to buy an account.

• 58:42Speaker 03

Yeah, or like, you know, like buy this Samsung Galaxy for a thousand dollars.

• 58:48Andrew Manganelli?

I played Fortnite when that came out and we got one of the phones and I put it on my account. And that's why in our Fortnite office game, we're playing with the Samsung Galaxy skin. And everyone's like, that's a cra- like, that's a crazy rare skin. You had to buy the like Note 8, I think, or Note 9 to get it.

• 59:04Speaker 03

But the silliest microtransaction I found was actually baked into a little game called Windows 10. Ever heard of it? No, I'm just kidding. But I did find a funny little microtransaction in Windows 10. And so the question is, what, upon launch, could Windows 10 users pay $1.49 per month for?

• 59:29Andrew Manganelli?

  That's the question?

• 59:30Speaker 03

  That's the question.

• 59:31Andrew Manganelli?

  That's all we get.

• 59:31Speaker 03

What do you get for $1.49 at launch? I think I found discrepancies as far as what it would cost now, because we're on Windows 11. It seems like they raised the price to $1.99, but I couldn't.

• 59:43Andrew Manganelli?

  So it's still available?

• 59:44Speaker 03

  Still available.

• 59:47Speaker 01

  And it's a Microsoft product, I guess.

• 59:50Speaker 03

  Yeah, it's a Micro's transaction soft fraud.

• 59:54Andrew Manganelli?

I have a guess, but I feel like it's not. I feel like I would have known about it. Anyways.

• 59:59Speaker 01

Oh, Windows 10. I'll brainstorm even more after the break.

• 1:00:05Andrew Manganelli?

Do you think they brought back the Vista Widgets?

• 1:00:07Speaker 01

  I love Vista Widgets.

• 1:00:08Andrew Manganelli?

Would you pay $1.49 a month for them?

• 1:00:12Speaker 01

No. But I did like them. I did like them.

• 1:00:29Speaker 01

All right, welcome back. We have rearranged the seats. We've traded places. Adam and Ellis are over here. Andrew is over there. And that's because we're playing the... It doesn't have a name yet, so I'm just gonna call it the Keywords Game.

• 1:02:13Speaker 03

  The Keywords Game.

• 1:02:15Andrew Manganelli?

You have to say in that cadence every time.

• 1:02:16Speaker 03

  The Keywords Game.

• 1:02:17Speaker 01

  Keywords Game.

• 1:02:18Speaker 03

  Keywords.

• 1:02:19Speaker 01

Explain how it works. Break it down.

• 1:02:20Andrew Manganelli?

Sure. So, for those of you who don't remember, which we did this very fast last time, so you might not remember that much. Essentially, what's... I'm on eBay right now. We are going to have three rounds. I'm gonna give you a tech category, and you guys need to convince... You need to tell me what words to type into the eBay search bar to find the most expensive product in that category.

• 1:02:41Speaker 03

And it is... Remind me, it's the top... Whoever has the most expensive top item?

• 1:02:46Andrew Manganelli?

So, what's gonna happen is each round has a number of keywords. First round has three words you're gonna give me. Second round has four words you're gonna give me. Third round has five words you're gonna give me.

• 1:02:56Speaker 03

  It's coming back to me.

• 1:02:57Andrew Manganelli?

None of those words can be repeated by anybody. And then, once you tell me to search, like, I think last time, did we do phones?

• 1:03:05Speaker 03

Yeah, we did do phones last time.

• 1:03:06Andrew Manganelli?

So, you gave me, like, if you gave me Apple iPhone 16, I'm gonna type in Apple iPhone 16, you're going to give me a number between 1 and 10. I'm going to scroll to that piece, that listing in the sold categories of eBay, and whatever that price is, that's the price you get. Whoever gets the most money at the end wins.

• 1:03:23Speaker 03

  All right.

• 1:03:24Andrew Manganelli?

Cool. Then you wouldn't be able to use Apple iPhone or 16 anymore.

• 1:03:29Speaker 03

  Yeah, okay.

• 1:03:30Andrew Manganelli?

All right, so I have a tech category, and I want you to ask some questions to see... To make sure we're all on the same page here.

• 1:03:38Andrew Manganelli?

I'm going to do, it's an audio category. Let's make it fair for everybody. The device has to be able to play sound.

• 1:03:47Speaker 03

  That's it?

• 1:03:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Play sound.

• 1:03:49Speaker 03

Like it has to have a speaker?

• 1:03:50Andrew Manganelli?

It has to be able to play sound. Yes, it has, it has to have a speaker. So.

• 1:03:54Speaker 03

Make a sound or play a sound?

• 1:03:57Speaker 01

  Make a sound.

• 1:03:57Andrew Manganelli?

Make a s- make a sound, sounds like, just like mechanically it could make sounds.

• 1:04:01Speaker 03

Like I could pick a car.

• 1:04:02Andrew Manganelli?

Like, no, no, no, no. It needs to be able to have like a speaker.

• 1:04:05Speaker 03

Okay, cars have a speaker. I just saw.

• 1:04:07Andrew Manganelli?

  I mean.

• 1:04:09Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:04:09Andrew Manganelli?

I think we should keep it as like an, an audio focused.

• 1:04:12Speaker 03

Audio focused. It's pur- its purpose must be to play sound then maybe.

• 1:04:17Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. Let's say that. It's a key, making sound is a key feature in it. I was, I'm trying to think of like, how do we keep this? I know Ellis is gonna ask him.

• 1:04:25Speaker 04

I'm trying to think, does an MP3 player count? Cause it.

• 1:04:28Speaker 01

  It would not.

• 1:04:29Speaker 04

It doesn't, cause it doesn't make.

• 1:04:30Speaker 01

  Has no speaker.

• 1:04:31Speaker 04

  Yeah, exactly.

• 1:04:32Speaker 01

It just has a headphone jack.

• 1:04:34Speaker 04

  Andrew's thinking.

• 1:04:36Andrew Manganelli?

What do you guys want? Do you want that to count? An MP3 player to count? Do you wanna just start going?

• 1:04:42Speaker 03

Make it a little more difficult. It won't count.

• 1:04:44Andrew Manganelli?

  It has to play sound.

• 1:04:45Speaker 03

It has to play sound with a speaker.

• 1:04:46Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm. Yeah.

• 1:04:47Andrew Manganelli?

Okay. Something can hook up to it to play the sound, but it physically has to.

• 1:04:51Speaker 03

  Oh, now you're killing me.

• 1:04:51Andrew Manganelli?

It physically has to make the noise.

• 1:04:53Speaker 01

  That's too different. Okay.

• 1:04:55Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:04:55Speaker 01

Physically has to make the noise.

• 1:04:56Speaker 03

  Alright, alright, I got one.

• 1:04:57Andrew Manganelli?

I tried to pick a category because Adam and Ellis were in this. Marquez is obviously a phone person, but I think he knows a lot of sounds. I was gonna do cameras, but doing that without David here would be super mean.

• 1:05:06Speaker 03

  You're off.

• 1:05:07Andrew Manganelli?

Um, who wants to go first?

• 1:05:09Speaker 03

This is a test round, right?

• 1:05:10Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 1:05:11Speaker 03

  This is a real round?

• 1:05:12Andrew Manganelli?

  Let's just go into it.

• 1:05:12Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 1:05:13Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:05:13Speaker 01

So, first round is three keywords.

• 1:05:16Andrew Manganelli?

  Yes.

• 1:05:16Speaker 01

  Three keywords. Okay.

• 1:05:18Andrew Manganelli?

I need to find a quicker way to explain this next time.

• 1:05:22Speaker 03

  JBO. Orange.

• 1:05:27Speaker 03

  Original.

• 1:05:30Speaker 01

  Breaking out original pretty early.

• 1:05:31Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 1:05:32Speaker 03

I'm gonna go with the fourth item, please.

• 1:05:39Andrew Manganelli?

All right. Twenty-two ninety. Damn. Twenty-two dollars ninety cents. It is the original JBL Flip Forward Charge Speaker.

• 1:05:47Speaker 03

  Yeah, you played yourself.

• 1:05:48Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, you play, considering the one above this is a soccer card for a thousand dollars. I don't know what.

• 1:05:55Speaker 03

  Don't make sound, though.

• 1:05:56Speaker 04

  That wouldn't qualify.

• 1:05:57Andrew Manganelli?

  What were you aiming for?

• 1:05:59Speaker 04

The original, like, orange foam JBL, like, standing speakers.

• 1:06:03Andrew Manganelli?

Well, a lot of people are selling orange JBL cable, USB cables. So you actually got the better one out of all of this.

• 1:06:12Speaker 01

I want to remember this brand name.

• 1:06:14Andrew Manganelli?

Let me just write these down. Original.

• 1:06:17Speaker 03

Maybe I can help you get the brand name.

• 1:06:19Speaker 01

Adam. And this has to be tech?

• 1:06:21Andrew Manganelli?

Twenty-two dollars ninety. I think of it as a speaker, essentially is tech in itself, no?

• 1:06:27Speaker 01

It might not have a speaker, but it makes sound.

• 1:06:32Speaker 01

And its primary purpose is to make sound.

• 1:06:34Andrew Manganelli?

Its primary purpose is to make sound?

• 1:06:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:06:36Andrew Manganelli?

How about this? If both of you guys veto it, we'll, uh...

• 1:06:39Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:06:40Andrew Manganelli?

  Send it.

• 1:06:42Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, just send it. I'll veto it if I don't.

• 1:06:44Speaker 03

  I'm a fair player.

• 1:06:46Speaker 04

  I'm curious now.

• 1:06:46Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:06:52Speaker 01

  Electric guitar.

• 1:07:01Speaker 01

I don't want to use original right now.

• 1:07:03Andrew Manganelli?

  You can't.

• 1:07:04Speaker 03

  Can't, I use it.

• 1:07:05Speaker 01

  Oh, because you use it.

• 1:07:05Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:06Speaker 01

  Can't use original. Perfect.

• 1:07:11Andrew Manganelli?

  One through ten.

• 1:07:12Speaker 01

  One.

• 1:07:13Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, I have a question to ask you guys. If it, if in the list, the thing is not something that plays noise, do you want me to just jump to the closest thing that does? That is an actual piece of tech?

• 1:07:24Speaker 01

  That's fair.

• 1:07:25Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:07:25Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, number one is a guitar book.

• 1:07:30Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:07:30Andrew Manganelli?

  So.

• 1:07:31Speaker 03

  Nice.

• 1:07:31Andrew Manganelli?

I will go to the next one, which is a DSP NanoCortex Digital Amp Pedal.

• 1:07:37Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:07:38Andrew Manganelli?

FX New Perfect Circuit, four hundred and twenty-five dollars. Damn.

• 1:07:42Speaker 04

  That's a solid.

• 1:07:43Speaker 01

  All right.

• 1:07:44Speaker 03

So here's the, here's the question, Andrew.

• 1:07:47Speaker 03

Do I play it safe? And get something that I know costs more than $400? Or do I shoot for the moon?

• 1:07:56Speaker 01

  Shoot for the moon.

• 1:07:56Speaker 03

  And land on the star?

• 1:07:58Speaker 01

The winner last time hit the moon.

• 1:07:59Speaker 03

Because I'll be real with everything I have right now, I could just say, MacBook Air new, 2016.

• 1:08:08Andrew Manganelli?

There's different ways of going about it, because if you also go ultra-specific, super-expensive, if not that many I've sold, you're gonna get

• 1:08:14Speaker 03

  I know.

• 1:08:15Andrew Manganelli?

  a crap.

• 1:08:16Speaker 03

I'm like, there's a bunch of vintage synthesizers we could do here, but I don't know if

• 1:08:22Andrew Manganelli?

  Damn.

• 1:08:22Speaker 03

  I'm gonna shoot. I'm gonna

• 1:08:25Andrew Manganelli?

  Got two more rounds.

• 1:08:26Speaker 03

You know what? You know, 400? Let's, let's have some fun. I'm not gonna shoot for the moon, but I think I could be 400. The first word is going to be studer. S.T.U.D.E.R. Studer. Oh, wait, no, no, no.

• 1:08:40Speaker 03

Wait, wait, wait, wait. It has to have speakers. It has to make noise.

• 1:08:43Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:43Speaker 03

Because electric guitar does not have a speaker.

• 1:08:46Andrew Manganelli?

It has to, its primary function needs to be making noise.

• 1:08:49Speaker 03

Great. Studer, first word. S.T.U.D.E.R. Second word, mint.

• 1:08:55Speaker 01

  Good word.

• 1:08:56Andrew Manganelli?

  Yep.

• 1:08:57Speaker 03

  Third word?

• 1:09:00Speaker 01

  Chocolate.

• 1:09:00Speaker 03

The question is, do we want to go for a mixer or a reel-to-reel?

• 1:09:05Speaker 03

  Put in

• 1:09:05Andrew Manganelli?

One of those is one word, one of those is three words, so.

• 1:09:08Speaker 03

Put in, put in, console. C.O.N. S.O.L.E.

• 1:09:17Speaker 03

Studer, mint console, and I want number

• 1:09:22Speaker 01

Wait, I should just be thinking of headphones that I know cost

• 1:09:24Andrew Manganelli?

  Number two?

• 1:09:25Speaker 03

  Oh, I feel like I

• 1:09:26Andrew Manganelli?

  70 bucks?

• 1:09:27Speaker 03

  No! What?

• 1:09:29Andrew Manganelli?

Between 385 and 630. Studer console input, one night, is someone's phone number?

• 1:09:37Speaker 03

Wait. Can I get a Studer console for 70?

• 1:09:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Twenty dollars delivery.

• 1:09:45Speaker 03

For ninety dollars, you could get a Studer console.

• 1:09:47Speaker 01

I thought this was about to be like five digits.

• 1:09:49Speaker 03

I know. But then why would you sell that on eBay? That's what I was thinking.

• 1:09:53Speaker 01

That's true. Oh, yeah, eBay. I gotta think.

• 1:09:55Speaker 03

  Yeah, this is.

• 1:09:55Speaker 01

Cause there are some like standalone speakers that I've seen that I don't think are on eBay.

• 1:10:01Speaker 03

Well, yeah, I was gonna, I'm not gonna give it up. Now I gotta be competitive because I thought I had that one in the bag.

• 1:10:06Speaker 01

  So headphones count?

• 1:10:07Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:10:08Speaker 03

  Yeah. They make sound.

• 1:10:10Andrew Manganelli?

I would argue that's their main.

• 1:10:11Speaker 03

Mark has, I can't believe you won with four hundred dollars.

• 1:10:14Speaker 01

  Me neither.

• 1:10:15Speaker 03

  Vintage Audio Gear one.

• 1:10:17Speaker 01

Me neither, me neither. Okay, we got two more rounds up.

• 1:10:19Andrew Manganelli?

  You gotta play the eBay.

• 1:10:20Speaker 03

Anyone who, you know, knows vintage Audio Gear is just as disappointed as me, by the way.

• 1:10:26Speaker 01

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 1:10:28Andrew Manganelli?

Or finding that list. Well, I guess it's sold already.

• 1:10:31Speaker 03

And it's not, it's not what I was looking for. I was looking for like a Studer mixing desk with the rainbow knobs.

• 1:10:36Speaker 01

What kind of numbers were you hoping for though?

• 1:10:37Speaker 03

I was looking for like eight grand.

• 1:10:39Speaker 01

  Yeah, okay.

• 1:10:40Speaker 04

  So now we have.

• 1:10:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Four keywords.

• 1:10:43Speaker 04

  Four keywords.

• 1:10:44Andrew Manganelli?

Do you want me to repeat the ones that can't be used or?

• 1:10:46Speaker 04

  Actually, no, I don't.

• 1:10:47Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, I think you're good, yeah.

• 1:10:48Speaker 04

Yeah. Uh, and it's the same category.

• 1:10:50Andrew Manganelli?

Same category for all of these.

• 1:10:52Speaker 03

  I'm hype.

• 1:10:53Speaker 04

  Teenage engineering.

• 1:10:54Andrew Manganelli?

  Hmm.

• 1:10:55Speaker 03

Oh wait, we're still, this is, it's all audio?

• 1:10:57Andrew Manganelli?

Hmm. Oh, yeah, because then we lose more words.

• 1:11:00Speaker 03

  Let's go, let's go, let's go, baby.

• 1:11:02Speaker 04

  Synthesizer.

• 1:11:06Andrew Manganelli?

Gotta figure out how to spell that. Got it?

• 1:11:10Speaker 03

  That's three.

• 1:11:12Speaker 04

  OP one.

• 1:11:15Andrew Manganelli?

  It is OP dash one.

• 1:11:16Speaker 04

  Yeah, OP dash one.

• 1:11:17Speaker 01

  I'll give that to you.

• 1:11:18Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 1:11:18Speaker 01

  OP dash one.

• 1:11:20Speaker 03

  That's like, what? That's like.

• 1:11:23Speaker 04

It's not that much. I'm playing it safe here because I'm way behind.

• 1:11:25Speaker 03

And, and, well, if you pick the right number, you get the feel.

• 1:11:28Speaker 04

  That's what I'm hoping.

• 1:11:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:11:29Speaker 04

Yeah. Um, okay, I'm gonna go with.

• 1:11:35Speaker 04

The the seventh. Let's roll the dice. Seven. Lucky number seven.

• 1:11:41Andrew Manganelli?

  Seven fifty.

• 1:11:43Speaker 04

  Seven dollars and fifty cents?

• 1:11:44Andrew Manganelli?

No, seven hundred and fifty dollars. Sorry.

• 1:11:46Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:11:46Andrew Manganelli?

You missed. There are some fifteen hundred dollar ones in here though.

• 1:11:50Speaker 04

That's what I was hoping for. All right.

• 1:11:52Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:11:52Speaker 04

  Seven fifty?

• 1:11:53Andrew Manganelli?

  Mm hmm.

• 1:11:54Speaker 04

All right, let's try. Well, I have like seven seventy two because my JBL speaker was twenty two dollars. All right.

• 1:11:59Speaker 03

  Oh, oh, it's cumulative.

• 1:12:01Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:01Speaker 03

Oh, so, oh, okay. So I'll shoot.

• 1:12:03Andrew Manganelli?

  You could.

• 1:12:04Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:12:04Speaker 01

Let's try. So for my second round, I got four words. So I'm going Sennheiser.

• 1:12:11Speaker 01

Is HD eight hundred S one word?

• 1:12:14Speaker 03

Oh, I would say that's one word.

• 1:12:16Andrew Manganelli?

I thought that was two. I thought it was.

• 1:12:17Speaker 03

  One word.

• 1:12:18Andrew Manganelli?

  But I.

• 1:12:18Speaker 01

  The model name.

• 1:12:19Andrew Manganelli?

OP one specifically is OP dash one where HD.

• 1:12:22Speaker 01

  HD is one unhyphenated.

• 1:12:25Andrew Manganelli?

  Let me. I'm gonna.

• 1:12:26Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:12:26Andrew Manganelli?

Looks like on Sennheiser's website, it's actually HD space eight hundred space S.

• 1:12:31Speaker 03

  Oh, that's three.

• 1:12:33Speaker 04

But you could just do Sennheiser.

• 1:12:35Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, no, I'll count it as one.

• 1:12:36Speaker 03

  No, that it. No.

• 1:12:37Andrew Manganelli?

  It's a product name.

• 1:12:38Speaker 03

  Four keywords.

• 1:12:39Speaker 01

That's four HD eight hundred S.

• 1:12:41Speaker 03

  Yeah, no, Sennheiser.

• 1:12:42Speaker 01

  Sennheiser, HD.

• 1:12:45Speaker 03

Eight hundred. S. So there you go. That's all four.

• 1:12:48Speaker 01

All right, they're gonna be used, but let's let's go HD eight hundred S. And let's go with the second listing.

• 1:12:57Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay, you dodged the bullet.

• 1:12:59Speaker 01

  I did.

• 1:13:00Andrew Manganelli?

Nine ninety nine. I'm at nine hundred ninety nine dollars and ninety nine cents.

• 1:13:04Speaker 01

Is it used? It sounds like.

• 1:13:05Andrew Manganelli?

Um, it is pre-owned. Before that were replacement earpad cushions for the.

• 1:13:11Speaker 03

That's always the danger with headphones.

• 1:13:13Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:14Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:13:14Speaker 04

  That was lucky.

• 1:13:15Speaker 01

  That's good. That's good.

• 1:13:17Speaker 03

  All right.

• 1:13:20Speaker 03

  I'm I'm a little nervous about this.

• 1:13:22Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:13:22Speaker 03

I feel like I might get like an accessory.

• 1:13:24Speaker 01

Oh, no, it's not. Yeah, I was thinking of microphone.

• 1:13:26Speaker 03

  But we're gonna go Fender.

• 1:13:31Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 1:13:32Speaker 03

First keyword. Second word is Telecaster. T E L E caster. That's one word. Third word is American.

• 1:13:42Speaker 04

They didn't see that coming, but okay.

• 1:13:44Speaker 03

  Fourth word is rare.

• 1:13:47Speaker 04

  That's good.

• 1:13:47Speaker 01

  That's a good word. I wish I'd used.

• 1:13:49Speaker 04

Yeah, rare is a good one.

• 1:13:51Speaker 03

For those of you, for you two and Andrew, the Telecaster has been made in three countries, or probably more than three, but the three people talk about are America, Mexico, and I forget where in Asia. They make them like the Philippines or Japan or something like that. And the American ones are the popular ones.

• 1:14:11Speaker 04

  What's the number?

• 1:14:12Andrew Manganelli?

  What's your number?

• 1:14:14Speaker 03

  I really don't want a guitar strap.

• 1:14:17Speaker 01

eBay, think about eBay. What would show up on, what are people listing on eBay?

• 1:14:22Speaker 03

Is the first one like a sponsor? No, it's sold. There's no sponsor.

• 1:14:24Andrew Manganelli?

It's only sold listings. Yeah, so there's no.

• 1:14:26Speaker 03

  One. I want number one.

• 1:14:29Andrew Manganelli?

Nine hundred ninety-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents.

• 1:14:32Speaker 03

Is it a telly? It's an American telly for a thousand?

• 1:14:34Andrew Manganelli?

Fender American Standard Telecaster nineteen eighty-eight vintage rare E3 SS black guitar pre-owned.

• 1:14:41Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:14:42Speaker 04

  Nice.

• 1:14:43Speaker 03

  What was number two?

• 1:14:43Andrew Manganelli?

From a seller called Jump On It. So it sounds like pick up pawn.

• 1:14:47Speaker 04

  That's good.

• 1:14:48Andrew Manganelli?

Number two was just the neck for two hundred and ninety-nine dollars.

• 1:14:51Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 1:14:52Speaker 04

  Good pick.

• 1:14:53Speaker 01

  Lucky. Dang.

• 1:14:54Speaker 03

I can do better. Okay, this one we're going.

• 1:14:56Speaker 04

  All right, here we go.

• 1:14:57Speaker 01

  Damn.

• 1:14:57Speaker 04

  Last round.

• 1:14:58Speaker 01

I'm thinking about something that's probably too big of a risk. I don't think it's on eBay.

• 1:15:03Speaker 03

I'm going for something crazy risky on this next one.

• 1:15:06Andrew Manganelli?

  Ready? Five keywords out of.

• 1:15:07Speaker 04

  Five keywords.

• 1:15:08Andrew Manganelli?

  Yep.

• 1:15:08Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:15:12Speaker 04

I'm gonna go with Moog, M-O-O-G. Actually, Mini Moog.

• 1:15:19Speaker 03

  Everyone.

• 1:15:20Andrew Manganelli?

  Is that one word?

• 1:15:20Speaker 03

Send him lots of emails about that. Do it. Don't leave this down.

• 1:15:25Speaker 04

Is it mug? Am I pronouncing it wrong?

• 1:15:27Speaker 03

It's mug, like the root beer. You nailed it.

• 1:15:29Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:15:29Speaker 03

  Send him so many DMs.

• 1:15:31Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, it is one word.

• 1:15:32Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, one word.

• 1:15:33Speaker 03

  It's Moog.

• 1:15:34Speaker 04

Moog? I've never heard it pronounced. Um, I used Synthesizer already, right? Okay, so let me do, have we used the word new?

• 1:15:43Andrew Manganelli?

  I don't believe so.

• 1:15:44Speaker 04

Okay, so new. So that's two words, right?

• 1:15:47Andrew Manganelli?

  Yes.

• 1:15:48Speaker 04

Third word, or actually I do the new inbox. So that's three words. So that's four now, right?

• 1:15:55Andrew Manganelli?

  Yes.

• 1:15:56Speaker 01

  I don't think it's on eBay.

• 1:15:57Speaker 04

  For sure on eBay.

• 1:16:01Speaker 04

  And then.

• 1:16:04Speaker 04

  Military.

• 1:16:07Speaker 03

Maybe working. But if it's new in box, they couldn't have tested it.

• 1:16:12Speaker 04

Yeah, no, I'm gonna go with.

• 1:16:13Speaker 03

  And there's caps.

• 1:16:14Speaker 04

I'm just trying to think of like a random fluff word that someone would put on an eBay SEO thing like.

• 1:16:19Speaker 03

  We already use rare.

• 1:16:20Speaker 04

  Condition.

• 1:16:21Andrew Manganelli?

  Condition?

• 1:16:22Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:16:24Speaker 03

Mini Moog, that's a good one.

• 1:16:26Speaker 04

What kind of numbers are you thinking here?

• 1:16:27Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 1:16:28Speaker 04

  Gimme.

• 1:16:30Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm gonna.

• 1:16:31Speaker 04

  Or one.

• 1:16:32Andrew Manganelli?

There is a Remington bikini trimmer, a new in box Mary Kay repair cleanser, Gore-Tex men's size 11 boots.

• 1:16:43Speaker 03

  I think.

• 1:16:43Andrew Manganelli?

A Jessica Rabbit doll. Peanut Snoopy watch.

• 1:16:48Speaker 03

  Those.

• 1:16:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Transformers.

• 1:16:50Speaker 03

A mini Moog like new in box like that would never turn up anywhere in the world.

• 1:16:54Speaker 04

I but it's sold at some point. It had to have been sold.

• 1:16:57Speaker 03

Not in the box, not new in box.

• 1:16:59Speaker 04

  Too rare?

• 1:16:59Speaker 03

  It's too rare.

• 1:17:01Andrew Manganelli?

  There are.

• 1:17:01Speaker 03

Cause even even when that thing came out, there were, I don't, I don't want to give an exact number, but like an exceptionally small.

• 1:17:08Speaker 04

And you don't think any of them got resold?

• 1:17:10Speaker 03

Well, because I don't really think it was the kind of thing that you could, like, you could probably go to a handful of music stores around the country and buy one. But for the most part, they were selling them straight to studios and labels and they were considered, you know, like.

• 1:17:20Speaker 04

  Professional.

• 1:17:21Speaker 03

Yeah, like the musical equipment of like a backhoe, you know, like you could get one if you were doing serious work on your own, but for the most part.

• 1:17:27Andrew Manganelli?

I did search just mini Moog.

• 1:17:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:17:31Andrew Manganelli?

And there was one sold March 6th.

• 1:17:33Speaker 03

  One.

• 1:17:34Andrew Manganelli?

  2005.

• 1:17:35Speaker 03

  One in 2005.

• 1:17:37Andrew Manganelli?

  2025, sorry.

• 1:17:38Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:17:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Like two weeks ago.

• 1:17:39Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 1:17:40Speaker 03

  Oh, for how much?

• 1:17:41Andrew Manganelli?

  $5,000.

• 1:17:42Speaker 03

  Oh, you.

• 1:17:44Speaker 03

No, no, don't, don't give that to him. Don't give that to him.

• 1:17:48Speaker 04

  How does that not count?

• 1:17:49Speaker 03

Because it didn't come up with your keywords.

• 1:17:51Speaker 04

  Keywords are too crazy.

• 1:17:53Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. I think the condition screwed you.

• 1:17:55Speaker 04

  Really?

• 1:17:55Speaker 03

  Really?

• 1:17:56Andrew Manganelli?

I mean, one of these is like a conditioner, I think.

• 1:17:59Speaker 03

What about if you get rid of conditioner and type in mini Moog new in box?

• 1:18:02Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:18:02Andrew Manganelli?

How about this? I will give you the first tech piece that actually showed up.

• 1:18:06Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:18:06Speaker 04

  Which is?

• 1:18:07Andrew Manganelli?

  A Garmin.

• 1:18:09Speaker 04

Oh, but that doesn't make sounds.

• 1:18:11Andrew Manganelli?

  Well, I guess.

• 1:18:12Speaker 04

  Yeah, I guess that's speaker.

• 1:18:14Andrew Manganelli?

Do you want the Demon Slayer figure instead?

• 1:18:16Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:18:17Speaker 03

  How much is that?

• 1:18:19Speaker 03

Am I wrong? Are there new inbox mini mugs? I cannot imagine one of those exists.

• 1:18:24Andrew Manganelli?

That one said brand new, so.

• 1:18:25Speaker 03

  But inbox.

• 1:18:27Speaker 04

I wouldn't actually think it's new inbox if I'm buying it from eBay. I'm just putting that out there.

• 1:18:31Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:18:32Speaker 04

It's just what the listing would be.

• 1:18:34Speaker 03

  New inbox.

• 1:18:34Andrew Manganelli?

How do you guys want to?

• 1:18:35Speaker 03

  Item?

• 1:18:36Andrew Manganelli?

Do you want to give Adam no points or?

• 1:18:37Speaker 03

  Always.

• 1:18:40Speaker 04

I leave this up to y'all.

• 1:18:42Speaker 01

What was the last thing you just said? Give him that.

• 1:18:44Andrew Manganelli?

  The demon slayer?

• 1:18:45Speaker 03

Yeah, give him the demon slayer, I figure. What if that's like 10 grand?

• 1:18:50Speaker 03

How much is the demon slayer, Andrew?

• 1:18:51Andrew Manganelli?

  It's 48 bucks.

• 1:18:52Speaker 03

  Alright.

• 1:18:53Speaker 01

Ugh. It makes noise, it makes noise.

• 1:18:55Andrew Manganelli?

  It doesn't make noise.

• 1:18:59Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:19:01Andrew Manganelli?

I literally don't know what to.

• 1:19:02Speaker 01

There's a lot of these that.

• 1:19:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Sorry, Adam.

• 1:19:04Speaker 01

Like make noise, but I'm not convinced they're on eBay. Like the wallpaper TV or the rollable TV.

• 1:19:14Speaker 03

Oh yeah, we're not getting really clever.

• 1:19:16Speaker 01

Like specific products that I know have speakers associated with them, but that I don't know about.

• 1:19:22Speaker 03

Like demon slayer action figures? Do red cameras have speakers?

• 1:19:25Speaker 01

  Uh, technically, yes, but.

• 1:19:29Speaker 04

  But no.

• 1:19:30Speaker 01

  I don't even know if I can.

• 1:19:32Andrew Manganelli?

  Primary function sound?

• 1:19:33Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm gonna narrow this down. Definitely primary function of sound. Let me get Yamaha grand piano.

• 1:19:42Speaker 04

  Oh. Wow.

• 1:19:45Speaker 01

  Wood.

• 1:19:48Speaker 01

  Working.

• 1:19:49Andrew Manganelli?

Damn, I can't wait till this is like a dollhouse replica.

• 1:19:53Speaker 03

Pianos are notoriously either ludicrously cheap or ludicrously expensive.

• 1:19:58Speaker 01

Yeah, I could get crushed on this listing, but.

• 1:20:01Speaker 03

  But I.

• 1:20:02Speaker 01

  Let's go with the.

• 1:20:08Andrew Manganelli?

  Fourth.

• 1:20:09Speaker 01

  Listing here.

• 1:20:11Andrew Manganelli?

  Alright.

• 1:20:11Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 1:20:12Andrew Manganelli?

  New inbox.

• 1:20:14Speaker 01

  Inbox? I don't like that.

• 1:20:16Andrew Manganelli?

  Yamaha Portable Grand Piano.

• 1:20:18Speaker 03

  Ooh.

• 1:20:19Andrew Manganelli?

  Seven nineteen.

• 1:20:21Speaker 03

  Seven hundred nineteen dollars?

• 1:20:22Andrew Manganelli?

  Yes.

• 1:20:23Speaker 03

  What's a portable grand piano?

• 1:20:25Andrew Manganelli?

It's all that came up. There's no, I don't think anyone's selling full blown wood grand pianos on eBay.

• 1:20:31Speaker 03

I guess that's more of a Facebook marketplace.

• 1:20:33Speaker 01

I was hoping for one, yeah.

• 1:20:34Speaker 03

Alright, I have a feeling that I'm gonna be in the same boat. This is not something they sell on eBay, but I am so tired that I literally can't think of anything else. So we're gonna do it. First keyword is three letters, PMC. Second word, mastering. Third word, stack. Fourth word, complete. Fifth word, sub.

• 1:20:58Andrew Manganelli?

I feel like this is either gonna be perfect or like an XLR cable.

• 1:21:03Speaker 04

Yeah, like the more words actually make it harder.

• 1:21:06Speaker 01

  Yeah, it does.

• 1:21:07Speaker 03

  Did you hit enter?

• 1:21:08Andrew Manganelli?

  I did.

• 1:21:09Speaker 03

  I don't like that face.

• 1:21:10Andrew Manganelli?

  It's not a good face.

• 1:21:13Andrew Manganelli?

I have yet to see something that plays audio.

• 1:21:15Speaker 03

What? Okay, so I guess this is not something that people are selling on.

• 1:21:19Speaker 01

What were you hoping it would be?

• 1:21:21Speaker 03

A company called PMC that makes mastering, a set of mastering speakers which cost about a hundred sixty grand.

• 1:21:27Speaker 01

  Speaker, oh, that's, yeah.

• 1:21:28Speaker 04

That's not gonna be on eBay.

• 1:21:30Speaker 01

I think you could get mastering speakers upwards of ten grand on eBay, but once you get that high, I don't think you'll find it.

• 1:21:36Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's so expensive.

• 1:21:38Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:21:38Speaker 03

Oh, it's a hundred twenty-five for the set. I'm wrong.

• 1:21:41Andrew Manganelli?

Dude, even like trying to find this is very hard.

• 1:21:44Speaker 03

  Really? Is it too niche?

• 1:21:46Andrew Manganelli?

Also just want you guys to know, no one used the word speaker.

• 1:21:50Speaker 04

  Oh, my God.

• 1:21:53Speaker 03

  So.

• 1:21:57Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, Alice, you got a bunch of Pokemon cards.

• 1:22:00Speaker 04

So wait, but those would be expensive.

• 1:22:02Speaker 03

But they don't make sound. Is there literally a single thing there that makes sound?

• 1:22:06Andrew Manganelli?

  The closest I can, okay.

• 1:22:07Speaker 01

  Probably.

• 1:22:08Andrew Manganelli?

The Beatles' Yellow Submarine LP, near mint copy.

• 1:22:13Speaker 01

  Makes sound.

• 1:22:13Andrew Manganelli?

  Hundred and sixty-two dollars.

• 1:22:15Speaker 04

That's still better than my pick.

• 1:22:18Speaker 03

I lost, the sound guy lost. This should have been my time to shine, vintage audio gear. Here I am, looking like a chub.

• 1:22:24Andrew Manganelli?

Let me calculate. I also, if anyone in the comments wants a, to. Tell us some categories to do, though. Oh, yeah. But it's hard to say it to everyone, because I don't want you guys looking at ones beforehand, but. I promise you, we're not going to. Adam came in at. First place? Eight hundred and twenty dollars.

• 1:22:46Andrew Manganelli?

  Rookie numbers.

• 1:22:47Speaker 01

  Marquez knows.

• 1:22:48Andrew Manganelli?

Marquez came at two thousand one hundred and forty-three dollars. And Ellis came in at.

• 1:22:59Speaker 01

  Three thousand.

• 1:23:02Speaker 01

  Four thousand.

• 1:23:03Andrew Manganelli?

One thousand two hundred and thirty-one dollars. So Marquez is the winner of today's keywords game. You did it. Still need some polishing on that. Thank you for all sticking around. I think the basis of it is really fun. I think the host is really terrible and.

• 1:23:16Speaker 01

I want a rematch. I want a rematch, too. I just want to give a shout out to Grand Pianos on eBay. A lot of Steinway ones I could have picked, eighty-five grand. These are. A local pickup only, understandably, but.

• 1:23:28Andrew Manganelli?

  We got those.

• 1:23:29Speaker 01

They're not gonna ship it? Yeah, no. Anyway, that was fun. Um, I think the last thing we should do is swap everyone back. I'll just do it here. I know my question. You know your trivia question? So Andrew should get.

• 1:23:42Andrew Manganelli?

  I'll just stay here, yeah?

• 1:23:44Speaker 01

Okay. Wait, yeah, maybe this is too complicated.

• 1:23:46Andrew Manganelli?

It would be way easier to just go back.

• 1:23:47Speaker 01

Swap back? We should swap back. Okay, we're gonna, we're gonna take a quick break. And when you come back, we will swap back for trivia.

• 1:23:55Speaker 01

Okay, we're back. Time to finish it off with the trivia answers this week. Let's do it.

• 1:24:03Andrew Manganelli?

  Ba ba ba da ba.

• 1:24:05Speaker 01

  Baccarat.

• 1:24:05Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. Baccarat. Question one, the term leaf from Nissan Leaf serves as a baccarat. What is that baccarat?

• 1:24:25Andrew Manganelli?

Did we decide if we were doing one point per, or what were we saying?

• 1:24:29Speaker 01

Oh, yes, that's what it was. Whoever gets the closest or the most gets one point.

• 1:24:39Speaker 03

All right. Flip 'em and read. What do we got?

• 1:24:43Speaker 04

  They're bad.

• 1:24:45Speaker 01

  Oh, okay.

• 1:24:45Andrew Manganelli?

Oh, we both said fun for F.

• 1:24:49Speaker 01

So I My LEAF was like electric and fun.

• 1:24:55Speaker 03

  Like? Electric?

• 1:24:57Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:24:58Speaker 03

  And fun?

• 1:24:59Speaker 01

  And fun.

• 1:25:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:25:03Speaker 03

That is good, but you got zero points on that.

• 1:25:05Speaker 01

  Zero.

• 1:25:06Andrew Manganelli?

  Zero.

• 1:25:07Speaker 01

  Damn.

• 1:25:07Andrew Manganelli?

I said long, electric, able, fun.

• 1:25:11Speaker 03

  Also zero.

• 1:25:13Speaker 01

What on earth does LEAF stand for?

• 1:25:15Speaker 03

Leading environmentally friendly, affordable, family, car.

• 1:25:21Andrew Manganelli?

  Hold on.

• 1:25:22Speaker 03

I told you one of them was hyphenated.

• 1:25:23Speaker 01

So it's way more than four words.

• 1:25:25Speaker 03

  No, leading.

• 1:25:26Andrew Manganelli?

  Leading.

• 1:25:27Speaker 03

  And environmentally friendly.

• 1:25:30Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, is it?

• 1:25:31Speaker 03

  Affordable, family.

• 1:25:35Speaker 03

Car. Car's not included in it.

• 1:25:36Andrew Manganelli?

Nissan needs to learn what an acronym is.

• 1:25:39Speaker 04

  Bad stuff.

• 1:25:39Andrew Manganelli?

  That's rough.

• 1:25:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Nissan gets negative one point.

• 1:25:43Speaker 03

  It's technically LEAF.

• 1:25:45Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 1:25:46Speaker 03

Question number two. The CFM International LEAF is a high bypass turbo fan. Just kidding. Just kidding.

• 1:25:53Andrew Manganelli?

  I just assumed I wasn't paying attention.

• 1:25:57Speaker 03

No. What in Windows 10 could users spend $1.49 per month on? In the weirdest, not weirdest, just who puts up microtransactions in a computer?

• 1:26:10Speaker 03

  This is Windows 10.

• 1:26:13Speaker 03

  Which came out in 1996.

• 1:26:17Speaker 03

Just kidding. It came out. Windows 10 is the one before this one, I think. Are we on 12 yet?

• 1:26:24Speaker 01

  No, we're not on 12. We're on 11.

• 1:26:27Speaker 04

  I don't know this one.

• 1:26:30Speaker 01

  David might get this one.

• 1:26:32Andrew Manganelli?

Did you put the same thing? Oh.

• 1:26:34Speaker 01

  Essentially. The assistant, co-pilot.

• 1:26:38Speaker 03

  I'm sorry.

• 1:26:39Andrew Manganelli?

  I put Clippy.

• 1:26:40Speaker 03

  No, unfortunately.

• 1:26:42Andrew Manganelli?

I'd pay a dollar fifty for Clippy.

• 1:26:44Speaker 03

  For Clippy?

• 1:26:45Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:46Speaker 03

I feel like most people would pay a dollar fifty to get rid of Clippy. No, the correct answer was to disable ads in Solitaire.

• 1:26:55Speaker 01

To disable, there's ads in Solitaire in Windows 10?

• 1:26:58Speaker 03

  Because they, they hate you.

• 1:26:59Speaker 01

I've played so much Solitaire in Windows and I never saw ads. I must not have played on Windows 10.

• 1:27:04Andrew Manganelli?

It's probably been a while since.

• 1:27:06Speaker 01

  I definitely didn't have Windows, I definitely didn't pay a dollar forty-nine, so.

• 1:27:12Speaker 03

Well, there you have it, folks.

• 1:27:13Andrew Manganelli?

Where is the ad in it? Like, after, or like?

• 1:27:16Speaker 01

You flip over a card and it's just the ace of Caribbean cruises. Like, what does it say? That's weird. I can't imagine how they would do that.

• 1:27:26Speaker 03

I just assumed it was a banner ad.

• 1:27:28Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, there's just ads, like, when it says game over and there's like the difficulty and stuff, and your score, there's just like, uh, this is just like a Zillow ad on the side.

• 1:27:38Speaker 01

Wow, okay. Well, yeah, we learned something new about Windows. Maybe you knew that answer already and you were down in the comments furiously typing away, or maybe you've already typed away at what we should be calling our eBay Keywords game, or what you would have typed in eBay to get the best, highest numbers, or maybe you're typing something else entirely. Whatever it is, we'll meet you in the comments section. Thanks for watching and listening this episode, and we'll catch y'all next week. See you there. Peace.

• 1:28:03Speaker 03

And stop messaging me about cars.

• 1:28:05Speaker 01

  You can keep going.

• 1:28:07Andrew Manganelli?

This film was produced by Adam Alina and Ellis River. We're partners with Vox Media Podcast Network and our track for music was created by Vane Still.

• 1:28:27Speaker 03

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.

• 1:28:32Speaker 03

  There's.

• 1:28:35Speaker 00
