• 0:45Speaker 01

In here, we pour whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

• 0:51Speaker 02

You're that creature in the ginger beard.

• 0:53Speaker 03

  It's sturdy and ginger.

• 0:55Speaker 04

Like vampires, the ginger gene is a curse. Ginger's a beauty. You owe me $5 for the whiskey, $75 for the horse. Ginger's a hell no.

• 1:03Speaker 02

This whiskey is excellent. Ginger. I like gingers.

• 1:09Andrew Santino?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Whiskey Ginger. My guest today is one of my favorite people on earth. I say that for all I can say. But I mean, once again, today... It's your guy, though.

• 1:16Speaker 03

  Hey, I'm here!

• 1:17Andrew Santino?

Whoa, bro. Look at these Arizona iced tea.

• 1:19Speaker 03

  Arizona iced tea ginsengs.

• 1:21Andrew Santino?

Put it up to the, put it up a little bit higher so we can see.

• 1:23Speaker 03

You see these cats right here?

• 1:24Andrew Santino?

  That's so fly.

• 1:24Speaker 03

  These guys?

• 1:25Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 1:26Speaker 03

Suede, I don't want to brag, suede up top.

• 1:28Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 1:28Speaker 03

And then a pattern on the side there. Yeah, I knew that you, I love that.

• 1:32Andrew Santino?

Someone's got a couple of dollars. Huh? That's amazing.

• 1:35Speaker 03

  They were in the outlet.

• 1:36Andrew Santino?

No. Those gotta be custom, right?

• 1:38Speaker 03

These are actually, they were a gift.

• 1:39Andrew Santino?

  Made from Mr. Arizona.

• 1:40Speaker 03

  Uh, yes.

• 1:41Andrew Santino?

  Steve Arizona?

• 1:43Speaker 03

  You know, good guy.

• 1:44Andrew Santino?

Well, I met him one time at a party. What's funny is, when I was in high school, I used to, I used to smoke a lot of pot. And I loved Arizona iced teas, and I'd get them at the gas station.

• 1:54Speaker 03

  $0.99 for the big one?

• 1:55Andrew Santino?

Love. And they used to make a division, Arizona used to make a series of, you know... Side ones, right, in different bottles.

• 2:03Speaker 03

  Off centers.

• 2:05Andrew Santino?

Correct. And one was called Memory. It was called Memory.

• 2:08Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 2:08Andrew Santino?

And I thought if I'm smoking a lot of pot, I probably need to get my memory back. So I would drink a ton of these memories. And the flavor was amazing. I loved it so much.

• 2:15Speaker 03

  Really?

• 2:16Andrew Santino?

One time I tweeted at them and was like, please bring back Memory.

• 2:19Speaker 03

  Memory?

• 2:19Andrew Santino?

You know, I want to remember this. You know what I mean? And I think they tweeted back at me a second, but if we can get your plug.

• 2:25Speaker 03

If they didn't say, forget it, I don't know.

• 2:29Andrew Santino?

Can you please reach out to them? Because you have the power and tell them to remake Memory?

• 2:33Speaker 03

If that, you mean I have social media? Yeah, sure.

• 2:35Andrew Santino?

No, no, but they would listen to you.

• 2:36Speaker 03

You want Memory? I'll get you some Memory.

• 2:38Andrew Santino?

Yeah, look, there's no way they make it anymore. They may make it in certain markets, but hold on, let me see.

• 2:43Speaker 03

Yeah, you might have to do like, it might be a little niche now. They might not just do wide distribution, but you'll probably get your hands on some.

• 2:48Andrew Santino?

Dude, I loved Memory here. I'll show you what it looked like too. There you go. Boom, there it is. It is Memory. And it looked like this. And this is how weird and lame this is. I have that bottle. It had Einstein on the bottle.

• 3:00Speaker 03

  Oh, wow.

• 3:01Andrew Santino?

But I have one in my closet at my mom's house. I like this. So the other ones were Stress, Health and Energy.

• 3:06Speaker 03

I remember the other one that was a purple bottle that looks similar to that.

• 3:09Andrew Santino?

  No, no, that's Memory.

• 3:10Speaker 03

No, it wasn't Memory. It was a ginseng-based one. No, that was that line. That's the four line. That was a power line.

• 3:17Andrew Santino?

  This is it, dude.

• 3:17Speaker 03

I date back a little bit before you, though.

• 3:20Andrew Santino?

What do you mean? What are you talking about?

• 3:21Speaker 03

I'm like, I'm 48. So my ginseng, my honey ginseng game, I was in 7-Elevens a little bit before your time.

• 3:27Andrew Santino?

  I'm 41, dude. You're not that much older. You're not like a-

• 3:28Speaker 03

Six years is a lot. That's a full high school, you know, a little bit.

• 3:31Andrew Santino?

Well, it's seven, actually, but you're not good at math, are you?

• 3:33Speaker 03

I'm great at math, but I did it on purpose. I'm glad you caught it.

• 3:37Andrew Santino?

God, I love you so much. I want everyone, first of all, to indulge yourself after this podcast, during this podcast, even take a break and then go and then come back because you're on YouTube anyway, if you are. Go watch Mr. Gatto Special. I have to say it with a little bit of gatto.

• 3:51Speaker 03

  Gatto, yeah.

• 3:51Andrew Santino?

Mr. Gatto Special. It's on YouTube right now, on his channel.

• 3:55Speaker 03

It's on 800 Pound Gorillas channel.

• 3:57Andrew Santino?

  Oh, it is on theirs?

• 3:57Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 3:58Andrew Santino?

Oh, okay. I was just gonna say, they produced it, 800 Pound, who are family. They're part of the crew. We love those cats. They did, they helped me out with mine. Go watch it right now.

• 4:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 4:07Andrew Santino?

Please, and then come back to the show.

• 4:09Speaker 03

  Yes, please.

• 4:09Andrew Santino?

  Where'd you film this one?

• 4:11Speaker 03

This one I filmed in, um, it was in March of last year at the Huntington Paramount Theater in Huntington, New York.

• 4:18Andrew Santino?

  Ooh.

• 4:19Speaker 03

My hometown, I'm Long Island guy, so it was great.

• 4:21Andrew Santino?

I forgot you're a Long Island guy. I thought, cause-

• 4:22Speaker 03

Cause I'm very, I'm just, I'm very, you know, you don't know-

• 4:24Andrew Santino?

Well, I know you're New York, but who knows with New York? Do you know what I mean?

• 4:28Speaker 03

  Yeah, I do.

• 4:28Andrew Santino?

  But also-

• 4:29Speaker 03

Well, I've been, I've lived in multiple New Yorks, different places, you know, Staten Island growing up. I lived in Manhattan for eight, almost eight years, and then I ended up out on Long Island, so.

• 4:37Andrew Santino?

And you're still back out there?

• 4:38Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 4:39Andrew Santino?

  Beautiful.

• 4:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 4:40Andrew Santino?

What a pretty place Long Island is.

• 4:41Speaker 03

  It's so nice.

• 4:42Andrew Santino?

It's kinda like what, when I see movies when I was a kid, and they showed neighborhoods, um, they always, I always thought they were like Chicago neigh- I was like, that's where we, that's like what we, but it's Long Island, it's all Long Island, isn't it? Everything's based off of either Jersey or Long Island. I say most movies are.

• 4:57Speaker 03

Suburban New Jersey and suburban Long Island have similarities, for sure.

• 5:00Andrew Santino?

  They're really close.

• 5:01Speaker 03

  Yeah, for sure.

• 5:02Andrew Santino?

Different kinds of scumbags exist in both, right?

• 5:04Speaker 03

Yeah, we each have our own type.

• 5:05Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 5:05Speaker 03

And we don't like to mix and match.

• 5:06Andrew Santino?

  That's right. Keep them separated.

• 5:09Speaker 03

It's funny because when you go, when you grow up in Staten Island, most people either make a left or a right when they get old enough to make, to have like families that go to Jersey or to Long Island.

• 5:16Andrew Santino?

  That's really funny.

• 5:17Speaker 03

I have one sister's in Jersey and one sister's in Long Island.

• 5:19Andrew Santino?

  Do they get along?

• 5:20Speaker 03

  Uh, yeah, yeah, they do.

• 5:21Andrew Santino?

  Okay.

• 5:22Speaker 03

You know, not just- That'd be great, if I was like, next question.

• 5:26Andrew Santino?

We don't talk, and let's not talk about it, if I'm being honest. Um, that's great, though, to film it back at home. I think that's like, uh, the homecoming is a really important thing for comics or something about it, although it's anxiety inducing, right? Whenever I go home, people are like, "Do you like playing Chicago?" And I'm like, it's hard, cause everyone wants, you know, you have to-

• 5:43Speaker 03

Everybody wants tickets. I know what you're saying, everybody's saying, you know, it's like me playing Atlantic City, it's like, my, "Hey, yo, cuz, uh, can I, can I get 42 tickets?"

• 5:51Andrew Santino?

  You're my mechanic, you're not my, I don't even, you're not blood.

• 5:54Speaker 03

Well, I got to, I got, I was able to have my kids at it, which was great, so they were in the beginning and they came out at the end.

• 5:58Andrew Santino?

  Oh, that's so cute.

• 5:59Speaker 03

  Really cool, yeah.

• 5:59Andrew Santino?

It's, it, look, I don't, the tickets doesn't bother me, it's more that you have to be a host.

• 6:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:03Andrew Santino?

You have to host a pre thing, a pre-party, an after-party, so unfortunately, part of your brain is thinking about organization of family and friends, cause you wanna make sure you're doing right by- Everyone that came.

• 6:15Speaker 03

It's another level, it's a, it's another level that's only added at home. It's another part of your brain that has to be used at home. Your host kicks in. Everywhere else, you're a guest.

• 6:22Andrew Santino?

Isn't that so nice? I love being a guest. You come into a city.

• 6:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:25Andrew Santino?

You, you know, there, you're there just for the show. You get to kinda like meander about, grab a coffee. Kinda disappear.

• 6:32Speaker 03

I also like that you, you meet new people.

• 6:34Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 6:35Speaker 03

Like at your home shows, you don't. It's like you're seeing all old, old friends, you know, whatever. But when you're out and about, you get to meet new people, hear new stories. I love that.

• 6:41Andrew Santino?

Have you ever had an ex show up to one of these shows?

• 6:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:44Andrew Santino?

  Whoa, how's that?

• 6:45Speaker 03

Uh, I'll let you know. We're still working it out. No, I had a, no, I had a, um, it was, it was a long time ago ex, like that we didn't even keep in contact.

• 6:57Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 6:57Speaker 03

And didn't know that she would be there.

• 6:59Andrew Santino?

  Like a childhood?

• 7:00Speaker 03

Yeah, it was like, yeah, I was like young twenties.

• 7:02Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 7:02Speaker 03

And she was, uh, she was in town. I was in a town she lived in and, you know, and then she was, uh, like, hey, I'm here. And you did great. And I was like, oh, okay, thanks.

• 7:12Andrew Santino?

  Thank you.

• 7:13Speaker 03

  Wait for stage.

• 7:14Andrew Santino?

  Goodbye.

• 7:15Speaker 03

But that's weird because like you don't know until it's over. I think I'd rather that instead of, hey, I'm here watching you.

• 7:20Andrew Santino?

I'm staring at you right now. Are you about to go on? I'm here right now. Yeah.

• 7:23Speaker 03

  Nice shirt.

• 7:24Andrew Santino?

Yeah. Let me turn my phone off real fast before I get on stage.

• 7:26Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 7:27Andrew Santino?

Do you, are you guys doing, by the way, are, is, is, is Jokers doing the cruise stuff still and all that or no?

• 7:33Speaker 03

  They did one without me.

• 7:34Andrew Santino?

  They did.

• 7:34Speaker 03

I don't know if they're doing another one.

• 7:35Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 7:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 7:36Andrew Santino?

Well, you don't like cruises anyway.

• 7:38Speaker 03

I love the cruises. Going on vacation with fans was so fun.

• 7:41Andrew Santino?

  I can't be on a boat.

• 7:42Speaker 03

But being on the boat was the tough part.

• 7:43Andrew Santino?

  Can't be on a boat.

• 7:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 7:44Andrew Santino?

I, I'd love the idea, right? Like I think I've been offered a bunch of different cruises because now like, uh, Burt did one and then the bands have done them.

• 7:51Speaker 03

Burt did our second cruise. I just did, I just talked to him about it. He, he saw ours and was like, I want to do this.

• 7:56Andrew Santino?

  Oh, really?

• 7:57Speaker 03

He did our second one. Yeah.

• 7:58Andrew Santino?

See, I, he, I think he offered and then I got one from like a, some band or something. And, um, both times I was like this, I, ideally, it would be cool.

• 8:09Speaker 03

And we're here to announce Whiskey Parmesan.

• 8:11Andrew Santino?

  Well.

• 8:11Speaker 03

  The, the cruise.

• 8:12Andrew Santino?

Toot, toot. It's on a big block of cheese.

• 8:15Speaker 03

We're coming. We go from Chicago to Long Island.

• 8:19Andrew Santino?

  It's a long trip.

• 8:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 8:20Andrew Santino?

  But it's worth it.

• 8:21Speaker 03

  It's worth it.

• 8:21Andrew Santino?

  It's all lakes and rivers.

• 8:22Speaker 03

We had to go up through Canada.

• 8:23Andrew Santino?

No, no, it's all lakes and rivers, baby. Sometimes we're on a car. I, I just don't, cruises freak me out too.

• 8:29Speaker 03

What I, what I did like about the cruise that we did was we curated the whole thing, so we took it over. And we were able to bring, like, that's how we met, I, you know, I've met so many people before, like, you know, dating back to, in the standup game, because Sal would, you know, pick, handpick people that he wanted to work with, he thought was funny, would come on, the musicians.

• 8:45Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 8:46Speaker 03

You know, and then by the third or fourth one, they wanted us to do like events, so I came up with a great scam. In the fourth one, we were getting a piece of the casino, so I was like, hey, we'll do a gambling with Joe.

• 8:55Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 8:55Speaker 03

And I, I love to gamble, so I played dice and I taught people how to gamble, and I did my night event. My event was me gambling for four hours.

• 9:01Andrew Santino?

  Perfect.

• 9:01Speaker 03

Teaching them how to play craps. It was so fun. And when I was losing money, we were like laughing, I was like, oh, I got 10% back. It was, uh.

• 9:07Andrew Santino?

I'm only losing 90% of this money right now.

• 9:09Speaker 03

  90% of it, yeah.

• 9:10Andrew Santino?

That's good, though. Are you, you're a big craps guy?

• 9:12Speaker 03

  Yeah, craps.

• 9:12Andrew Santino?

  No cards?

• 9:13Speaker 03

  I'm a big casino, yeah.

• 9:13Andrew Santino?

  You like cards?

• 9:14Speaker 03

Baccarat, blackjack. I don't play poker. I don't like taking other people's money.

• 9:17Andrew Santino?

Poker to me, I, I, look, I, I know people, I've been asked to go to like these poker things.

• 9:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 9:22Andrew Santino?

I don't like to sit that long, because when I'm done at a table, I want to walk away immediately.

• 9:26Speaker 03

Yeah, I did one, and I was done with it, and I was like, uh, I did the celebrity poker tour run by Blake Winn, which is so, so, so fun. And I did it, and then it got fun, and then it got serious. And I was like, I went all in. I was like, I'm in, you know, and then I was like, okay.

• 9:39Andrew Santino?

  I'm in because I'm out.

• 9:40Speaker 03

Yeah. I want to get out of here. And if I was one, it was, it wasn't too bad of a hand to go all in on, but I was just like, you know what, it'll go either way.

• 9:44Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 9:44Speaker 03

I had fun, but it's like getting a little bit too like cutthroaty, and I'm like, this is, yeah.

• 9:48Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that's not the fun. To me, like, I'm, I'm not a big gambler. Gambling runs in my family. My grandfather, uh, to the day he almost died, worked at the dog track in Chicago.

• 9:56Speaker 03

  Great.

• 9:56Andrew Santino?

The dog track. Not the horse track.

• 9:58Speaker 03

  Nope.

• 9:58Andrew Santino?

  The dog track.

• 9:59Speaker 03

  The dog tracks.

• 10:00Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, he worked at.

• 10:00Speaker 03

  Strictly Chihuahuas, long races.

• 10:03Andrew Santino?

We had a Pomeranian at noon, it was tough. It was a hard, a hard run. But he did the dog track.

• 10:07Speaker 03

  Finished by 4:00 P.M.

• 10:08Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah. It's always a matinee. I had to, but I was a kid, I used to go to watch the dogs run and I was fascinated by, by the greyhounds. There goes that rabbit.

• 10:17Speaker 03

My grandfather and grandmother moved down to Florida for a minute and

• 10:20Andrew Santino?

  That's big down there.

• 10:21Speaker 03

The dog races down there and I used to go see the dog races.

• 10:23Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it is, it was really fun. And then he would later work at Arlington, which was a horse track. But Maywood, the dog track was so fun.

• 10:28Speaker 03

Did they have that, uh, here, Sparky?

• 10:31Andrew Santino?

Oh, yeah. Here goes that rabbit. I used to, for some reason, it was way more fun to me than the horses because

• 10:37Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 10:38Andrew Santino?

The dogs, uh, it, it looked so much more powerful. I know a horse is clearly more powerful, but the dogs looked so...

• 10:45Speaker 03

It was because they loaded the ground.

• 10:47Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that you can feel it. You can feel the power of it.

• 10:49Speaker 03

You feel the thunder of horses running by.

• 10:51Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 10:51Speaker 03

But you see, like, they're so, like, the way they run too, it's insane. Like, have you ever seen the slow motion videos?

• 10:56Andrew Santino?

  Yes, it's absurd.

• 10:57Speaker 03

  It's unreal.

• 10:58Andrew Santino?

  They're jumping like 12 feet.

• 10:59Speaker 03

  They're using a whole body?

• 11:00Andrew Santino?

  It's insane to watch.

• 11:01Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 11:01Andrew Santino?

I used to love going to see that. And then, back in the day when I was a kid, they used to have, um, uh, uh, like, they'd have like a local boxing night there. It was any way to make money on the side of making money.

• 11:11Speaker 03

  Hundred percent.

• 11:11Andrew Santino?

Cause it was OTB when races are over. And then they'd have local boxing, they would have like, um, uh, they had indoor shuffleboard nights for, for money. It was so funny.

• 11:20Speaker 03

Rock, paper, scissors, guess the number.

• 11:21Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 11:21Speaker 03

  It was like-

• 11:22Andrew Santino?

  Arm wrestling, spit competition.

• 11:24Speaker 03

  Right.

• 11:24Andrew Santino?

How far can you spit? Line up! Yeah. Honestly, anything to ga- anything for gambling. My grandfather worked, uh, worked the windows, honestly, since I was a kid till I can, till I can remember till he got much older.

• 11:36Speaker 03

  Really?

• 11:36Andrew Santino?

Yeah, so it was a part of my family. So gambling for me, I never really got sucked in because I saw

• 11:41Speaker 03

  The dirty underbelly.

• 11:42Andrew Santino?

I saw what it did. Well, I saw the loss level.

• 11:44Speaker 03

  Yeah, of course.

• 11:45Andrew Santino?

It was so high. Most people we would see would lose. And they would talk about it like, you know, oh, I gotta go back to the boat and get some money, you know, because in Illinois it has to be on water to-

• 11:52Speaker 03

  On water, yeah.

• 11:52Andrew Santino?

So, uh, the boat was always like, I gotta go to the boat.

• 11:54Speaker 03

Which is so weird to me.

• 11:55Andrew Santino?

It's a dumb, well, they just built a new one too. That's technically on water as well.

• 11:59Speaker 03

Right, because it's, all they have to do is the, the, it's built into the ground, but it has to have a bridge that's not, the, the boat is not attached to.

• 12:06Andrew Santino?

  Correct.

• 12:06Speaker 03

  Which is so weird.

• 12:07Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, come on.

• 12:08Speaker 03

It's basically, they built a building on water.

• 12:10Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 12:10Speaker 03

  And that's it.

• 12:11Andrew Santino?

Yeah. Well, technically, we're all on water.

• 12:13Speaker 03

  I know.

• 12:13Andrew Santino?

  Yeah. On water right now.

• 12:14Speaker 03

You dig deep enough, we're all on water.

• 12:16Andrew Santino?

That's a big scam that Illinois, like, well, amongst many other scams.

• 12:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 12:18Andrew Santino?

Uh, don't get me- To the toll roads. Is that a big, is that, was that a thing as a kid, tolls for you guys? You always had tolls, right?

• 12:23Speaker 03

The Verazano Bridge, man. Huge. That's why Staten Island almost succeeded.

• 12:28Andrew Santino?

How mu- how much is that to go to Staten Island?

• 12:30Speaker 03

Right now it's like fourteen dollars or sixteen dollars.

• 12:32Andrew Santino?

  One way?

• 12:32Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 12:33Andrew Santino?

  That is what a joke.

• 12:34Speaker 03

You only, you only pay on the way, I think you only pay on the way out or way in, you only pay one way though.

• 12:38Andrew Santino?

I imagine you pay into Manhattan.

• 12:40Speaker 03

Um, I would probably hope so because nobody's paying that much money to get it.

• 12:43Andrew Santino?

  To get to Staten Island?

• 12:44Speaker 03

You have to get through Staten Island to get the jersey. That's why they make their money. That's the angle.

• 12:47Andrew Santino?

Come on this way. Yeah. Go this way.

• 12:49Speaker 03

If not, you have to go all the way around and stuff. But, yeah, I remember like there was a huge thing about because the, the toll went up. There's this thing, the Staten Island Ferry, which you know, right?

• 12:58Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah. Taking it.

• 12:58Speaker 03

  It's, it's free.

• 12:59Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 13:00Speaker 03

  For life.

• 13:00Andrew Santino?

  And it should be.

• 13:01Speaker 03

For life. Yeah, true. But for life. Like, you could get to Manhattan for free.

• 13:04Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 13:04Speaker 03

Or you could take the bridge and drive and then take the tunnel, whatever. And of course, you're like forty-two dollars by the time you're there. So, it's insane. I remember when they were trying to put up the bridge. It was the whole thing why Staten Island wanted to say, see, this was probably back in the eighties, maybe, late eighties. And they were like, because we, we're not paying that money. We're not gonna have this toll to get home.

• 13:20Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 13:20Speaker 03

And they came up with giving the Staten Island resident, uh, break. So Staten Islanders pay less, yeah.

• 13:26Andrew Santino?

That's genius. Help them out. How about the locals?

• 13:28Speaker 03

How about the locals? It's our play. It's our land.

• 13:30Andrew Santino?

Right. It's our land. It's our land.

• 13:32Speaker 03

  We were here first.

• 13:33Andrew Santino?

We took it, but it's ours.

• 13:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 13:35Andrew Santino?

Well, like, as a kid, I remember my dad always complaining about the tolls and they always went up and up and up and up and up. And, and it was this whole thing where Chicago promised, that at some point the tolls would, had, had paid for the roads and then they'll be removed.

• 13:47Speaker 03

Oh, that's always the promise. That's like, oh, but the upkeep and all, but yeah, nobody knows.

• 13:51Andrew Santino?

It'll never, no. And even when they removed toll booth guys, which I used to love as a kid.

• 13:54Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 13:55Andrew Santino?

  They're all gone now.

• 13:56Speaker 03

I got a great toll booth guy story.

• 13:57Andrew Santino?

  Give it to me, baby.

• 13:58Speaker 03

Driving down to Florida, ninety-nine, speaking of cruises, to go, to welcome in the two thousands, me and five of my friends, us six go down. We're driving from New Jersey down to Florida.

• 14:07Andrew Santino?

  That's your Y2K.

• 14:08Speaker 03

Yes, my Y2K. On, on water. Illinois gambling. So, we're going down and we're driving and we have the two thousands glasses on. And on repeat, the six of us are in this beat up van that we rented and we're playing, uh, nineteen ninety-nine by, uh,

• 14:22Andrew Santino?

  Prince.

• 14:23Speaker 03

Prince, right? So, so probably like nineteen, and we're all laughing, saying, my cousin is driving, I'm sitting shotgun. And they have those buckets where you throw the thirty-five cents in. You know, and you don't even have to slow down, stop, right? So, and you just wait for the little handle to go up, right? So, my cousin's singing, we're laughing, whatever, and he's like, two thousand zero, and he just boom out the thing, and he didn't realize that he didn't go to a basket, he went to a toll collector? So he hits this woman with thirty-five cents in her face. And she goes, "Oh." And you just heard, "Ding, ding, ding." And he just looks so embarrassed, and she goes, "What are you doing?" And we just, he turned beet red. It was the funniest thing I ever seen.

• 14:55Andrew Santino?

Throwing chains at a poor toll booth. As if her gig isn't hard enough.

• 14:58Speaker 03

I know, she's gotta huck and change at it. She gotta get a nickel in the face, this poor woman. It was so funny.

• 15:03Andrew Santino?

I used to love to try, when I was in high school, I used to love to see how fast I could go. You know, with your aim?

• 15:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 15:08Andrew Santino?

  You really learned how.

• 15:09Speaker 03

  Pop her out.

• 15:10Andrew Santino?

Yeah, you really learned how, how you could, how you had to shoot, how early you can shoot before the, you know what I mean? You're learning physics, really, is what it is.

• 15:16Speaker 03

  The wind, you gotta compensate.

• 15:18Andrew Santino?

Test the wind, test the weather, it's a little cold, the coins might fly a little bit less far. Yeah, I used to love doing that. Uh, when I was in high school, my dad used to complain about the tolls incessantly, and now when I go, and I grab one of their cars to go drive around somewhere, it is funny, everything is the, you know, I pass, or whatever they call it now.

• 15:34Speaker 03

They take the picture of the plate now in New York, you don't even need that.

• 15:36Andrew Santino?

You don't need the digital thing?

• 15:37Speaker 03

  So they basically have you.

• 15:39Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 15:39Speaker 03

And they take a picture, and then they just charge your account. So it links up, you don't even need the little toll pass.

• 15:43Andrew Santino?

  They got us, don't they?

• 15:44Speaker 03

  They got us so bad.

• 15:45Andrew Santino?

  They got us wrapped up.

• 15:45Speaker 03

Take your picture here, give me your fingerprint, pee in this cup, like, all the time.

• 15:49Andrew Santino?

  I'm always peeing in cups.

• 15:50Speaker 03

I know, people, it's so weird.

• 15:51Andrew Santino?

I went to a bakery down the road, they made me pee in a cup.

• 15:53Speaker 03

  Yeah, I bought a plate.

• 15:56Andrew Santino?

I do that when I park at, at the airport. In the garages now, um, cause sometimes I drive.

• 16:01Speaker 03

  You park at the airport?

• 16:02Andrew Santino?

I do like it, because, uh, when I'm, when I get my bags, uh, you can get a garage right across from me, that's a little pricey, but I found. Well, no, I'm actually, this is actually an intervention to try to borrow some money from you.

• 16:13Speaker 03

Do you want to borrow twenty bucks when you park?

• 16:14Andrew Santino?

Please, please, please. But I, but what it, what it's for is because it costs me so much to get to the airport if I take a car, it's the same cost. So I drive because I like the comfort of getting my bags, getting right in my car, not waiting for, where is a driver, and go to the Uber thing, and it's like, never mind. So I just get in.

• 16:29Speaker 03

Changes this, the, when I land at an airport, that changes the whole experience for me about a city. If I have to get on a bus to go get an Uber or walk, hate that. LaGuardia does it the best, New York LaGuardia. Fantastic baggage claim out the door. It's right there.

• 16:41Andrew Santino?

  LaGuardia is the best.

• 16:42Speaker 03

  The best LaGuardia.

• 16:43Andrew Santino?

It's honestly, it's so, it's so good. When I hear that I have to go.

• 16:45Speaker 03

  What a comeback story LaGuardia.

• 16:46Andrew Santino?

  I know. They were down.

• 16:48Speaker 03

Oh, down. They were out. Nobody was going. You'd go there and it would be like end of days.

• 16:53Andrew Santino?

People like, you going to LaGuardia? Why? Is everything okay?

• 16:57Speaker 03

Let me help you. Give me a hand. Go to JFK. Go to JFK.

• 17:00Andrew Santino?

I hated going to JFK. Now, when they ever said, whenever I do a gig or they're flying me in and they say, oh, they're going through JFK. I'm always like, is there any other way I can do anything else? I do. I'm actually a sucker for Newark. I'm not gonna lie. Big Newark fan.

• 17:12Speaker 03

  Wow, it's.

• 17:13Andrew Santino?

It's just because it's quick to get downtown. That's the only reason why.

• 17:16Speaker 03

Yeah, but you're rocking O'Hare at home, right? In Chicago. That's.

• 17:18Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it's the worst airport in the world, other than us, other than LA. O'Hare is a, it's a nightmare. And but what I like about O'Hare, this is all airport talk for everyone that wants to.

• 17:27Speaker 03

Yeah, guys, tune in. Thanks for tuning in to Airport Talk.

• 17:29Andrew Santino?

No, but what I like about it is.

• 17:31Speaker 03

  The Home Alone references.

• 17:32Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that's that. I can run through that little tunnel.

• 17:34Speaker 03

I do all the time. Even if I'm late or not, I'm just running.

• 17:37Andrew Santino?

I like that, the, the, the traffic cops that are outside at O'Hare. This is the only, uh, New York does it a little bit. They're the meanest, rudest, like no waiting. You're there for three seconds. Like, let's go!

• 17:49Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, get out.

• 17:49Andrew Santino?

I love that. Because LA, they don't exist. Yeah, they let you sit for hours. Nobody cares. I like that they push them and then they get in an argument. The guy's like, oh, no, wait, wait, like, let's go, Luke, let's go. I love that the cops take control. Sometimes they'll do that and they'll look up and I'll go, thank you.

• 18:02Speaker 03

Yeah. I saw a guy trying to get out of his car in, uh, I think it was actually Chicago. It was one of the airports. A guy was trying to get out of the car. The guy, the guard clearly had had a day. He had lost it, right? So this guy was like yelling out through his window and he's like, I just had to get out. And he went to get out of his car and he shut the door on him as he was getting out of the car and he's like, move your vehicle!

• 18:20Andrew Santino?

  Give that guy a medal.

• 18:21Speaker 03

And the guy just like looked over and drove away. I was like, wow, that guy is winning.

• 18:24Andrew Santino?

That's the next thing at the, we're gonna give medals of honor at the White House to airport security. Move along, guys. Like, you're doing, you're doing a job nobody wants to do. Nobody. I just came back into town and I had to wait for golf clubs. I took golf clubs with me to Vancouver. And, you know, you learned, we know, customer service is everything and being polite to these people is, means the world. Don't be the guy that, I know you're having a tough day. Maybe you missed a flight, you got delayed, blah, da, da. I'm waiting for the oversights baggage and this guy comes storming up and he's kind of giving the young man that's working on the baggage a little bit of lip.

• 18:53Speaker 03

  Throw him guff.

• 18:54Andrew Santino?

Ah, a little bit, yeah, a little high shoulder, a little, doing that thing. And I'm waiting there patiently on my phone and as the bing, things open up and the bags come out, the young man comes and goes beelines to me and goes, "Sir, can I have your bag tag number?" And this guy's like, "Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa." But I was quiet, polite, didn't say anything, I said, "I'm just waiting for my bag."

• 19:12Speaker 03

  Did you break him off?

• 19:13Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah, you have to.

• 19:14Speaker 03

  You gotta break him off.

• 19:15Andrew Santino?

Well, I mean, that's, that's how you get that.

• 19:17Speaker 03

That's how you get that. You broke him off pre, can I get your number or post?

• 19:20Andrew Santino?

  No, post, always post.

• 19:21Speaker 03

  Oh, always pre.

• 19:22Andrew Santino?

  Oh, really? See, I always.

• 19:24Speaker 03

Do you tip, do you tip the valet guy after you get your car back?

• 19:26Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, of course.

• 19:27Speaker 03

  Dumb.

• 19:28Andrew Santino?

Post, you tip him before you get your car?

• 19:29Speaker 03

Of cour-, but you tip them before because that's when they have, that's when they have your vehicle.

• 19:32Andrew Santino?

  I'm always afterwards.

• 19:33Speaker 03

That's when they have your vehicle. When I drop off my car, I hit them hard.

• 19:35Andrew Santino?

  But see.

• 19:36Speaker 03

Keep it close, I'll be out in an hour.

• 19:37Andrew Santino?

Well, you're a keep it close guy.

• 19:38Speaker 03

  I always keep it close.

• 19:39Andrew Santino?

I tell them, "Put it as far away as possible."

• 19:40Speaker 03

Oh, okay, well, that's the difference. Let's get your steps in.

• 19:43Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 19:44Speaker 03

No, for me, I always tip, I always tip on, and in the bathrooms, like when I do in the, you know?

• 19:48Andrew Santino?

  You have to.

• 19:49Speaker 03

I don't tip on the towel, I tip on the take. If I take something, I tip you. I don't tip on a towel.

• 19:52Andrew Santino?

Tipping on a towel is tough, but I, it depends on the venue.

• 19:55Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 19:56Andrew Santino?

Right, like if I'm at a fancy place, I feel like it's, it's a forced thing, uh, if I'm at a place where.

• 20:01Speaker 03

  The Viper Room.

• 20:02Andrew Santino?

Well, yeah. If I'm over there, huh? If I'm with one of the Phoenix family brothers.

• 20:06Speaker 03

Watch my back while I'm in the urinal.

• 20:08Andrew Santino?

If it comes, a guy, a guy was in with a knife, can you please stop him?

• 20:11Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:12Andrew Santino?

I, I just have learned that a couple of bucks, uh, it goes a long way with those guys. So it's just a little bit, just a little bit here and there. I always tip that. Now I am, let's talk about it. I am a little bit, we've all talked about how sick we are of this, but a lot of times you'll go to a counter.

• 20:26Speaker 03

  The screen.

• 20:27Andrew Santino?

  What are we talking about?

• 20:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:29Andrew Santino?

Starts at like 25 and, I know this topic's been beat to death, but I now, now am I flagrant to do this. I just went to a place this morning, you order, uh, they don't serve you, you wait for your order, you take it to your table.

• 20:43Andrew Santino?

  I tip a different number. It'll be 20, 25, 30, but I tip just...

• 20:48Speaker 03

Custom. I'm a custom guy too.

• 20:50Andrew Santino?

  Right, right?

• 20:50Speaker 03

I'm a custom guy all the time.

• 20:51Andrew Santino?

Why am I giving 20? So if I bought a meal for me, my buddy and a friend, it's a lot of money. It's a takeaway, right? We're sitting down, but you know, I ordered it, I went out and took it. I do the custom because I'm like, that's not a 20 percenter.

• 21:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 21:03Andrew Santino?

There's no chance. Am I wrong to do this?

• 21:04Speaker 03

No, I think custom's the way to go, even if it's gonna be more or less whatever. Even if you're gonna do, I don't do presets. You don't decide for me. I decide how much it's gonna be. I also round to the dollar. I'm not tipping $8.21.

• 21:14Andrew Santino?

  It feels weird.

• 21:14Speaker 03

It feels weird. I'll give you a 9 or I'll give you an 8.

• 21:16Andrew Santino?

Correct. I round. I did that this morning. I rounded off. I was like, I'm just gonna give him a rounded off tip.

• 21:20Speaker 03

Now, the big contributing factor for me in those scenarios is what am I getting hit with the energy? Are those people being friendly? Are they nice? Are they making this a pleasant experience? Not as so much as what you're doing. I also can't make this honey latte as well as you can. I'm not gonna pop back there and make my own. So I'm gonna give you a reward for that. But are we doing it with a smile? Are we doing it angrily? Are we huffing and guffing? What are we doing here? Are you opening up the new oat milk? Or am I getting the old one? There's a lot of contributing factors to that custom, so...

• 21:42Andrew Santino?

  Paper straws are plastic.

• 21:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 21:44Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 21:44Speaker 03

Oh, if they're coming at me with...

• 21:46Andrew Santino?

  Paper straws?

• 21:46Speaker 03

If they're coming at me with a paper straw, just, I'm taking dollars off.

• 21:49Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I go back into the tip drawer. I grab money back. I go, no, go get some straws.

• 21:54Speaker 03

  Now you know.

• 21:58Andrew Santino?

• 26:04Andrew Santino?

It is a part of the culture that I think is the more we travel, the more you start to learn the shakes of that whole thing. Because we're always out, eating out, hotels, da-da-da. And you start to learn that you're like, "Look, I want to be generous and nice and all that stuff, but also, we're all getting taken advantage of a little bit."

• 26:21Speaker 03

A little bit. I had an experience not too far, too long ago, that somebody declined on my behalf. It was a coffee spot. They made the, I ordered a whatever coffee. The thing came up, they clicked "No tip," and they go, "Here, just sign here." And I said, "Did you just not..." I said, "Oh, where do I put the tip?" And they're like, "Oh, no." Like, because they knew. I was getting a drip coffee from my friend. Literally like a, and that's it. Right? So I took $10 out of my pocket and I put it right in the bucket. I said, "That is, I said, "That's so nice of you."

• 26:48Andrew Santino?

That's a good universe. I over-tipped the other day because someone had left the thing. You know, they got to the sign portion and they didn't sign and press "Next." So, I said to the guy, I go, "Hey..." Uh, this guy didn't close out and I was gonna overtip for fun for him.

• 27:04Speaker 03

  Thirty percent.

• 27:05Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it'd be funny. And he grabbed it. I go, oh, here. And he goes, no, no, hold on. And he put it to zero tip. And he was like, nah, man, my conscience wouldn't let me do it. So then I overtipped on mine to make up for the other schmuck that didn't finish.

• 27:14Speaker 03

  That's great.

• 27:15Andrew Santino?

So wherever you are, a guy with a blue hat, he had a blue LA hat on, uh, you know who you are. You were right in front of me. He knows exactly. You didn't finish. I think you did that on purpose. I think you're a coward and you did that on purpose.

• 27:26Speaker 03

You didn't want to make the decision, so you pulled yourself out, pulled the ripcord.

• 27:28Andrew Santino?

And then I had to overtip on your behalf. You're a bad guy.

• 27:31Speaker 03

You know, it's a lot of fun. Well, one of my favorite places to tip, because it takes people a little bit to recognize me and middle America loves my face.

• 27:39Andrew Santino?

Oh, yeah. You are middle America.

• 27:41Speaker 03

Yeah, I am very much. I'll do a little shaped like it. I do a little, I do like a little late night drive through, like on the road. We're driving from here to there. We're going from Peoria to, uh, Wabash, Indiana the last weekend, right? We're driving, we hit up the BK. I'm getting myself an impossible burger meal, cause you know.

• 27:55Andrew Santino?

  Are you vegan?

• 27:55Speaker 03

  Vegetarian, yeah.

• 27:56Andrew Santino?

  Good for you.

• 27:57Speaker 03

So I go and I, uh, I hit the thing, whatever. And the guy is out front. As we roll up, there's a hand, there's a typed out note. We're understaffed. Sorry, we're gonna have to close at midnight. It's 11:40 when we pull into this thing, right? He's out back. I see him. He's smoking a cigarette and he sees us and he does one of these.

• 28:14Speaker 03

Puts out the cigarette, goes in, goes behind the box. I'm like, here he goes. He's gonna go. And he's like, welcome to Burger King. Can I take your order? And I was like, oh, I didn't expect him to be so pleasant about it. We roll up, we place the big order. It's an order. We have some people in the car. We roll up and he's sitting there and he's like, I'm like, oh, I saw the sign. He goes, yeah, man, it's just me. And we've done like $300 worth of business. And I was like, oh, just now? He goes, no, all day. It's been crazy. And I was like, oh, okay. And I was like, my order came like 50 bucks. I'm like, oh, my God. I was like, I'm like.

• 28:37Andrew Santino?

  You're all the business.

• 28:38Speaker 03

So he's sitting there, he's doing his thing, whatever. And at the end, you know, I just took a 20 and I was like, I said, dude, I appreciate you. Thanks. I'm sorry you're so overwhelmed. And he goes, he goes, yeah, man. And he finally looks me in the face and he goes, no. And I drove away on the no. So you just heard him go, no, thank you.

• 28:54Andrew Santino?

  That's awesome.

• 28:55Speaker 03

Out the window, which is cool, but I love tipping the drive through people late night, cause I feel like they are unsung heroes.

• 29:00Andrew Santino?

They are. Well, it's funny because I think it's a lot of times they don't, they're not supposed to take tips, which I think is flagrant. Let them take a tip.

• 29:05Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:05Andrew Santino?

Why can't you tip those people? I don't even understand that. It shouldn't be expected, but it should be a nice thing to do, right? I've had multiple times where we're at a thing and they're not supposed to take a tip. Ah, we just did it. We had drivers and Bobby tried to give the driver a tip and the guy's like, hey, man, we're not allowed to, because we're paid out by the thing or whatever.

• 29:21Speaker 03

  Did you drop it?

• 29:22Andrew Santino?

Bobby left it for him anyway, but it's also like-

• 29:24Speaker 03

I drop it in the car.

• 29:25Andrew Santino?

  He was like, "We can't."

• 29:26Speaker 03

Yeah, whenever they say, "I can't," I go, "Oh, okay, just make sure you check the backseat if I forgot anything," and I leave. I just put a hundred dollars bill on the floor. I do it all the time.

• 29:32Andrew Santino?

There's a bag of money and drugs back there.

• 29:33Speaker 03

That's the best. You ever do that, you're gonna leave a fake bag of drugs.

• 29:36Andrew Santino?

  No, good god, yeah.

• 29:38Speaker 03

Um, for that, I've run into that with casino security a lot, too. Because in casinos, when we're playing a place, whatever, they'll give us a security guard just to hang out with us, make sure we're not, you know, getting bugged or whatever. And those guys will walk you wherever, and then you go to tip them, like, "Oh, I can't, I can't." And I'm like, "You just, all night, were with me till three in the morning."

• 29:57Andrew Santino?

They're told for some reason that it's not okay. But here's the difference, I don't like, I don't get the business philosophy. You can tell your staff, "Hey, we're not supposed to expect gratuity."

• 30:06Speaker 03

They're supposed to ask. It's different than saying yes or no.

• 30:08Andrew Santino?

But then, accepting it is different than expecting it.

• 30:12Speaker 03

How are you, who are you to tell this person they can't have a hundred dollars?

• 30:15Andrew Santino?

I don't like it. Particularly if it's a casino, they're making millions and millions of dollars.

• 30:19Speaker 03

And they can't from somebody who wants to tip them for their service, what they've done, that's weird.

• 30:23Andrew Santino?

I think that, we're gonna change the mold, we're gonna keep this going. How about this? What do you feel, how do you feel about tipping flight attendants? This is interesting.

• 30:31Speaker 03

  Well, well, well.

• 30:33Andrew Santino?

I haven't done this often, but only a few times have I done this when I had some, like, exceptional service on a very, very long flight. That I threw a little bit of something, because I thought that was, I don't know, they were very cool, this person, and we were chatty, and, I don't know. I felt like I, I don't know, was it, is that weird?

• 30:47Speaker 03

That's, that's a little weird for me. You know what I do for that, in that situation, is I always do a review. Or I take a picture with Delta, and I take the picture of the person, I say, "You mind if I'll tag Delta in it?" Because I fly Delta, and I say, "Hey, they were-"

• 31:02Andrew Santino?

  Marcus was amazing.

• 31:03Speaker 03

Yeah, "Was so great, made my flight or whatever, do something like that." I've never given, broken them off cash, but I think you've just opened my mind to it.

• 31:09Andrew Santino?

  It wasn't anything crazy.

• 31:11Speaker 03

I feel like they would think it's weird.

• 31:12Andrew Santino?

They did, he did, yeah, for sure, it was weird.

• 31:14Speaker 03

Because you stuffed him in his pants.

• 31:15Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah.

• 31:16Speaker 03

He's like, "Go to my waistband."

• 31:17Andrew Santino?

I put it in my teeth and I got down on my knees, it was a whole thing, but, anyway.

• 31:21Speaker 03

If you just shook his hand with it, it could have been different. I love the shake, the hidden, the hidden-

• 31:25Andrew Santino?

  That's how I did it.

• 31:26Speaker 03

  Oh, that's the best.

• 31:27Andrew Santino?

That's how I did it when I said goodbye to him, I shook his hand goodbye, and then, I think it was extremely unexpected, and he was like, "Oh, what?" But, by that time, I'm gone.

• 31:32Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 31:33Andrew Santino?

Do what you will, you know, whatever. I'm, I like, I feel like at that point it is-

• 31:36Speaker 03

Did he know who you were?

• 31:37Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 31:37Speaker 03

So did you feel a little bit, that's the worst, when you know they know you and they wait to tell you when the tip is dropped, when the thing's dropped, they're like, "By the way, didn't want to bug you, huge fan, now you're like, now I gotta go hard."

• 31:47Andrew Santino?

But maybe it's a story, you know, now he has a story and he's telling someone somewhere, that, you know, in my, in my, in the long game, one guy has a story at a dinner with a friend that does, that's a cool, right?

• 31:58Speaker 03

  Love that.

• 31:59Andrew Santino?

  Doesn't that feel nice?

• 31:59Speaker 03

I love, I love a good, a good encounter with fans out there. That's the best part about being what we do, is like, you get to, you get to blow people's minds with stuff like that.

• 32:06Andrew Santino?

  If, if they're cool.

• 32:07Speaker 03

  Hundred percent.

• 32:08Andrew Santino?

If they're drunk and they're grabby and they're crazy, like sometimes I'll have people-

• 32:11Speaker 03

Again, I apologize, I don't know how many times you want me to say I'm sorry.

• 32:13Andrew Santino?

Well dude, sober up, already. This guy grabbing my wiener in public, he's like, "I'm a big fan," like dude, I get it. No, I just don't like it when they're really, if they're really drunk and they're grabby and handsy, I'm always like, dude, relax, relax.

• 32:24Speaker 03

  Yeah, drunk is drunk is-

• 32:26Andrew Santino?

I want to say hi and have fun and take a photo, I'm always down to take a photo and all that stuff.

• 32:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 32:29Andrew Santino?

But like, the drunk thing is tough, because people get really wasted and they just get a little like,

• 32:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 32:34Andrew Santino?

  grabby, touchy, feely.

• 32:35Speaker 03

Are you out after the show in the thing after?

• 32:38Andrew Santino?

Not anymore, not really, but that's only because I just want to like, get rest, if I'm, if we're traveling, I'm tired and I want to go to the next city.

• 32:44Speaker 03

  You're golfing, you're out here?

• 32:46Andrew Santino?

Well, I love to golf in the morning, but I think people don't realize that like, you're, it's your weekend, but it's my week workday.

• 32:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 32:52Andrew Santino?

Do you know, so I think that's what's tough, people want you to be out and about doing the thing and you're like, I gotta go, I'm leaving in nine hours to go to another city.

• 32:59Speaker 03

  Right.

• 33:00Andrew Santino?

So I gotta go, get a little bit of sleep and then wake up and do it all over again, so, it is tough, because you do want to be entertaining. No one could do what Kreischer does, Bert's like, "Meet me at the bar," and they all go, like, that would give me crazy anxiety. I can't do that, like, I can't be in the middle of the thing, I started to get more social anxiety as I've gotten older, just because I'm more protective of my time. I used to just be down and now I'm like,

• 33:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:21Andrew Santino?

"You gotta get rest, like, go, go to bed."

• 33:24Speaker 03

You gotta think about the next show too, right, like, you want to do it again for the people on the same level.

• 33:28Andrew Santino?

I don't want to give them a shitty show the next night, because I'm tired, and I just was out all night and then the drive was bad or the flight was delayed, and I don't know. I get into that in my mind, more so now than I ever have, when I was young, I was like, "I'll storm through all this," but now it's gotten harder and harder. Like, are you, you're on the middle of the road right now, or no?

• 33:44Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 33:44Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 33:45Speaker 03

I got my new tour now.

• 33:45Andrew Santino?

You got a lot going on, you got a lot of dates?

• 33:47Speaker 03

Yeah. Yeah, I just started, so my, uh, my new one's out now.

• 33:49Andrew Santino?

  Till when?

• 33:50Speaker 03

Uh, announced through, uh, May. And then I'll go a little bit for it, yeah. I just, I, cause I had three, almost four months off in the summer. I ended, ended this last tour.

• 34:01Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 34:01Speaker 03

Um, in March, and then I took the summer with the kids, and I started up now.

• 34:05Andrew Santino?

You went to camp with them, you went to summer camp the whole time?

• 34:07Speaker 03

No, they stayed home, I went. The other kids, not my kids stayed home.

• 34:11Andrew Santino?

  I'm swimming in the lake.

• 34:12Speaker 03

I was going, I'm like, I'm doing cannonballs on the, on the swingy, on the Tarzan swing. I did, uh, yeah, that was, that was fun, so let's get into it, it's my new tour, all new stuff, and that one out. And then my special, I named Messing With People, is the one that's available now, and that was my tour for two and a half years, so.

• 34:26Andrew Santino?

  Good god.

• 34:27Speaker 03

So I had four months off in the.

• 34:28Andrew Santino?

You always name the special after the tour?

• 34:30Speaker 03

No, it wasn't, it was called Joe Gatto's Night of Comedy.

• 34:32Andrew Santino?

  Okay.

• 34:32Speaker 03

That one, and I named it Messing With People, cause that was the theme in it, when you watch it, you know? Um, I didn't really know what it was when I started it, I was just like, it's a night of comedy.

• 34:39Andrew Santino?

I don't think any of us do, I mean, we're all trying to put it together with the crowd, especially cause if you have a, like a, you know, if you have a big chunk of jokes that kinda don't fit one centralized theme, I think it's, it's hard to start to sew those together.

• 34:51Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 34:51Andrew Santino?

Cause you're like, man, I wanna talk about this, but I wanna talk about this, but these things are kind of all over the world. So I find that hard, I give, I commend these comics that we have in our business that we're friends with that, can string together kind of like a beautiful, it's like a symphony, it's like a story.

• 35:04Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 35:05Andrew Santino?

I'm more of like, this is what I'm thinking, that's what I'm thinking, that's what I'm thinking, that's what I'm thinking, and have to find this weird little rope.

• 35:10Speaker 03

You have good in, you have good in and out moments, though. Like, you, you have clean segments, like.

• 35:15Andrew Santino?

  I try, yeah.

• 35:16Speaker 03

Sometimes, like, you, I never feel like when I watch you, and you're like, so power tools, right, guys? Like, you know, like, that's, that's rough, you see some guys, it's like, oh, that's, you gotta find a segue, friend.

• 35:25Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 35:25Speaker 03

I didn't have that, that much, my, messing with people was kind of like, just an amalgamation of stuff, and it really just talked about my personality, right? So it's like, I always mess with people. This new one, Let's Get Into It, I feel, has way more of a theme. I think also just cause I'm a little, I'm better at stand-up doing it over three years, instead of my first time doing it.

• 35:41Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 35:41Speaker 03

So, this one, I feel like I've done a little bit better job of weaving it all together.

• 35:45Andrew Santino?

Right, and that, but that just comes with, that honestly comes with time, and then some of them come together just a lot easier, I find that with some of these sets.

• 35:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 35:51Andrew Santino?

They just come together a little bit easier, and the other ones, you really like. You really started to put your brain to it.

• 35:56Speaker 03

There's so much anxiety with naming the tour, isn't there?

• 35:58Andrew Santino?

Nightmare. Absolute, literal, a literal nightmare.

• 36:00Speaker 03

We used to be lucky, because when we did the Joker's tours, we would just pick a phrase from the show. It's like, where's Larry? Santiago sent us. It was all just like stuff from the show. So it was like written for us. You know, then they were like, what are you gonna name your show? I'm like, Joe Gatto's Night of Comedy.

• 36:12Andrew Santino?

It's perfect. But that's what it is.

• 36:13Speaker 03

  It's all this.

• 36:14Andrew Santino?

I think we work so hard on these titles and these names, then people are inherently gonna either, you know, love them or hate them.

• 36:19Speaker 03

  Or not care.

• 36:20Andrew Santino?

Well, yeah. I guess that's all the options. But I mean, I just, I feel like we care so much sometimes that you're like, are people, is that stupid? Nobody really gives a shit. It doesn't really matter. That's why I think like the next special I put out, I really do think I'm just gonna, it's gonna be called Andrew Santino, Live in Blank, wherever I shoot it.

• 36:34Speaker 03

Oh, that's a weird title. You should name it the city where you shoot it.

• 36:37Andrew Santino?

No, Live in Blank. Live in Blank. You never in a, you never in a blank?

• 36:41Speaker 03

  Blank, like Arkansas?

• 36:42Andrew Santino?

Well, it's in Kansas. Blank Kansas. Arkansas has one, for sure. No, Blank Kansas. No, when I decide, I just think that'll be the way that I do it, is just live in something, because the pressure is way too, it's just way too heavy-handed at this point. I don't know what.

• 36:53Speaker 03

And people will watch it because of you. They're always gonna watch, look at the title and be like, oh.

• 36:57Andrew Santino?

  It's you.

• 36:57Speaker 03

Flubby Dubby? That sounds fun. Like, you know what I mean?

• 37:00Andrew Santino?

Well, Flubby Dubby does sound good. You do that. Well, like, look at Chappelle. I mean, there's some guys, like Louis does one-word titles, right? And then Chappelle does Equanimity and the Bird. It's like, you know, it really doesn't matter.

• 37:11Speaker 03

I think that might be a little bit for them now, too, at this point, right?

• 37:14Andrew Santino?

Of course it is. Well, they're so famous that it doesn't matter. They're fucking with you, uh, with, with how little they're giving you or how much they're giving you, doesn't really matter, you know? It doesn't, it just, it has no bearing. You're gonna watch it. Of course, with David, always has to have something to do with the title, with the, the through line or the depth of the, of the special, but I just think people don't really care. I think people just wanna see you, and now, the bites of which they're consuming us are so small now. It's gotta be fa- it's like fast, and they just want it right now. They don't wanna wait. You know what I mean? Like, they just want you to like, give it to me right now, because the internet is- It's so fast, we're never gonna be able to beat it. You're never gonna beat the internet.

• 37:51Speaker 03

  Never, yeah.

• 37:52Andrew Santino?

  That's what's getting scarier.

• 37:53Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 37:53Andrew Santino?

  Like, will we get to-

• 37:54Speaker 03

Is that the scariest thing for you?

• 37:55Andrew Santino?

To me, yeah, we can't get over the internet.

• 37:56Speaker 03

You don't think a fake you is the scariest thing?

• 37:58Andrew Santino?

Nah, I just think it's the internet's gonna beat us to every joke. The internet has beat us with every joke. It's got it out before you could ever put it out.

• 38:04Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's true.

• 38:04Andrew Santino?

If it's a public joke, right? If it's about, you know, it's always something that's in, you know, politics or Trump or whatever. The internet's got it, it's already there. The internet's got it there already.

• 38:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:13Andrew Santino?

Cause they did it that morning on Twitter.

• 38:14Speaker 03

Right, even if you're getting up that night, somewhere.

• 38:17Andrew Santino?

  Doesn't matter.

• 38:17Speaker 03

  Yeah, doesn't matter.

• 38:18Andrew Santino?

Well, that's why Tonight Show jokes, monologues, you know, you watch these days, it's so hard, cause there, it's already been done. By the time they've said it, it was on Twitter, it was on Instagram, it was on TikTok, it was on, it's already been spread through the internet. And on YouTube, there's people that will put out a YouTube chunk of things the day after something happens. Tonight Show couldn't even, how could they get that fast?

• 38:36Speaker 03

  Yeah, they couldn't.

• 38:36Andrew Santino?

It's pretty impressive, I mean, are you scared of that AI future of us? Of it taking it away from us, of it being like-

• 38:43Speaker 03

No, I think I could only be improved upon, so.

• 38:46Speaker 03

I, no, I've always thought technology as, as an ally, there is some, I mean, look, with everything, there's some scary shit. You know, you see some stuff with like, when they do these like fake phone calls and it's like, yeah, this is not, this is a robot talking to you and it's taking your social security number and like, oh, I'm like, that's a little, a little tough, you know, I, I, I do fear some of that stuff, you know, but, I almost got scammed, which was so weird. Uh, my wife is like, uh, hey, Joe, the electric company just called the business line for my, uh, nonprofit, for Gatto Pups and Friends. And she's like, hey, they just called, they said they're gonna shut the electricity because you didn't pay the bill. And I have so many different accounts with the nonprofit in mind, I was like, maybe I didn't link it up or whatever, so I call the guy and he's like, hey, thank you for calling, you know, the, like, whatever the name of the electric company is, and he, and he's like, uh, yeah, he's like, you know, your balance is due, and I said, I'm looking at it right now, I said, it's up, it's fine.

• 39:31Speaker 03

And the guy goes, uh, he goes, no, he's like, all right, look, what you have to do is you gotta, you have to, you have to pay the amount due and then we'll credit back to your account once they work it out in the system, but your lights are gonna get cut, shut off by noon. And it was like 10 a.m. and I was like, Really? He's like, yeah, I was like, alright. I said, no, he goes, I said, alright, how do I pay it? And he goes, I said, he goes, oh, well, we don't take credit cards over the phone. And he goes, I'll send you.

• 39:51Andrew Santino?

  Uh oh.

• 39:51Speaker 03

  I'll te-

• 39:52Andrew Santino?

You gotta go to a money gram in your neighborhood.

• 39:54Speaker 03

He goes, I'll text you a CVS barcode and you take it to the CVS and pay it. And when they pay it, don't tell them it's for the electric because they'll hit you with a surcharge. Just say you have to pay this.

• 40:04Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm.

• 40:04Speaker 03

So I go, great. And I hang up. And then I, and I go, wait a minute, this is also weird. They text over the thing, call back, the guy, about 10 minutes later, he calls me back. He's like, hey, just wondering if you got the thing and you were able to, you know, complete it? I don't want to have to shut your lights off. I said, uh, yeah, dude, I'm not paying. He goes, oh, man, fuck you, and hung up.

• 40:23Andrew Santino?

  Good business, bro.

• 40:24Speaker 03

But he got that far on me and I was like, oh, shit.

• 40:27Andrew Santino?

  You almost got sunk.

• 40:28Speaker 03

  I almost got sunk.

• 40:29Andrew Santino?

That's bad. My grandmother almost got sunk one time, it was wild. They called, the guy called, uh, she picked it up and he said, grandma, it's me. Which should have been the first clue because we never called her grandma.

• 40:36Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 40:37Andrew Santino?

But grandma, it's me, and then she elicited the name of one of her grandkids. Right? So she said the name and he goes, yes, it's me. So then she was sunk a little bit already and he said, I got caught, I'm in, uh, I'm in jail for smoking pot. They caught me with pot. And, uh, she was like, oh, no. And he's like, but I don't want you to call my mom and dad because, you know, I don't want to get in trouble. Can you help me out? Can you bail me out? I need you to go to another one of these things, like go to a location and get a money gram out or money like this and bring it to this location, blah, blah, blah. And then she hung up the phone, nervous because she wanted to help her grandson out, but then she thought, this doesn't seem str- this seems strange. So she called someone else in the family, which obviously cleared that that's not true at all. He's, that the grandson she was talking about is fine with a bunch of friends, blah, da, da.

• 41:18Speaker 03

  He's already in jail.

• 41:19Andrew Santino?

Yeah, well, he's been in jail for 20 years, no. But I, but it's so obvi- the, the biggest joke about us was we always laugh, you know, uh, she's gone now sadly, but we always laugh because had she have known, the grandson she picked, uh, does smoke pot, does smoke a lot of pot, but so does his dad. And mom, so it's like, uh, this wouldn't have been the family to pick. Had she known, it would have been like, ah, I'm in trouble for pot. It's like, no chance. They all smoked pot.

• 41:44Speaker 03

  Yeah, but sure.

• 41:44Andrew Santino?

And definitely call your dad, he'll bail you out. Cause it was his pot that you got, you know what I mean?

• 41:48Speaker 03

He wants it back, you know?

• 41:49Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I was like, what are we talking about? But yeah, she almost got, she almost got, uh...

• 41:52Speaker 03

Those are, I mean, the bulls.

• 41:53Andrew Santino?

Then picking on the old people, yeah. You should be stoned in the town square.

• 41:56Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 41:56Andrew Santino?

If you pick on old people, we should be able to stone you and stream it live.

• 41:59Speaker 03

  I do.

• 41:59Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 41:59Speaker 03

I love watching the people that get the scammers. That's so fun. You have all get that in that rabbit hole.

• 42:03Andrew Santino?

  There's a girl that I watched that's so good.

• 42:04Speaker 03

Why aren't they solving like murder mysteries?

• 42:07Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, I know.

• 42:07Speaker 03

  They are unbelievable.

• 42:08Andrew Santino?

Well, it's kinda like the hackers of this world. Like, how come the hackers? I think they're having so much fun doing stuff like that. They don't wanna be... They don't wanna have a boss and be told what to do. They're rebels, right? They're renegades. It's, you know, this is, these are like the Robin Hoods. Like, Robin Hood wouldn't, you know what I mean?

• 42:21Speaker 03

Yeah, but Rob, they're Robin, they're not giving to the poor.

• 42:24Andrew Santino?

Yeah, but they're not, well, they're not, they're not taking money. Those scammers are just scamming the scammers.

• 42:29Speaker 03

Oh, those people, yes. I see what you're saying. Yes.

• 42:31Andrew Santino?

  They're scamming the scammers.

• 42:31Speaker 03

  I love that.

• 42:32Andrew Santino?

So it's kinda like, no one...

• 42:33Speaker 03

I thought you were talking about the scammers themselves, right? The people who are scamming the scammers are my heroes.

• 42:37Andrew Santino?

Yeah, a hundred percent. Well, the scammers, those guys, I mean, that's a whole, you know?

• 42:39Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 42:40Andrew Santino?

  That's a whole thing.

• 42:40Speaker 03

Yeah, but the people that do it and like, stream it and you watch it, I, I, I, hours. I just sit there and watch it.

• 42:45Andrew Santino?

There's a girl that's so good, and then she has a voice box changer.

• 42:47Speaker 03

She does the voice box changer, and then she talks like the grandma.

• 42:49Andrew Santino?

  She's so good.

• 42:50Speaker 03

I love her, she's so good.

• 42:51Andrew Santino?

She's incredible how she's able to get these guys and they, uh, what they do is that, yeah, they re-transfer the money that was supposed to go into their account, but they hack their accounts. So they drain their accounts, which I think is, it's, it's so impressive they're able to do that. I think they do, we, the government, I'm sure, is working on a faction hiring those people so they can collapse, you know what I mean, an entire industry?

• 43:10Speaker 03

  Oh, sure.

• 43:11Andrew Santino?

And that's why Rite Aid's out of business, cause of people like that. That's why.

• 43:13Speaker 03

  Damn, man.

• 43:14Andrew Santino?

  It's gone forever.

• 43:15Speaker 03

  I missed Rite Aid.

• 43:15Andrew Santino?

  R.I.P., man.

• 43:16Speaker 03

  R.I.P.

• 43:17Andrew Santino?

R.I.P., R.I.P. Aid. I miss the ice cream at Rite Aid. Those were the good old days. Terrible, with the crusted over, uh, frozen, uh, you know, the icicles all over.

• 43:26Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 43:26Andrew Santino?

I used to walk home from the, from the Comedy Store, and there was a Rite Aid on the way home. And I used to always get ice cream late at night. It was awful, awful, awful ice cream. Freezer burn all over.

• 43:36Speaker 03

But you were, you were supporting it.

• 43:37Andrew Santino?

I loved it, though. I think it was just a nice, sweet treat on the walk home, cause the walk was a couple miles, so I was like, I just, it's a couple miles. Don't I deserve some ice cream? You know how we justify that? You're like, I walked.

• 43:46Speaker 03

  Come on, I walked.

• 43:47Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's 9,000 calories. I walked a mile.

• 43:50Speaker 03

You also had so many beers, you walked.

• 43:51Andrew Santino?

Yeah, 13 or 14, big deal. You knock one out, that's all.

• 43:55Speaker 03

I'm getting rid of these calories, yeah.

• 43:57Andrew Santino?

Yeah, are you working out? Are you a big workout guy on the road, or no? I'm talking to the guy behind you.

• 44:02Speaker 03

  Clearly.

• 44:03Andrew Santino?

What, never, huh? Never exercised on the road?

• 44:05Speaker 03

I have tennis elbow. I don't know how.

• 44:07Andrew Santino?

Yeah, really? You don't play tennis?

• 44:08Speaker 03

Right now, I have tennis elbow. It's so funny. I don't know. I do not know.

• 44:12Andrew Santino?

So what, does it hurt when you, the flexation hurts or whatever?

• 44:15Speaker 03

  Killing me.

• 44:16Andrew Santino?

How do you think you got it?

• 44:17Speaker 03

I don't know, Andrew. You're the athletic one.

• 44:20Andrew Santino?

  Lifting anything?

• 44:21Speaker 03

I have children, I picked them up. I don't know.

• 44:23Andrew Santino?

  That's it.

• 44:23Speaker 03

  Wrong way.

• 44:24Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 44:25Speaker 03

My son's getting a little bit bigger. I shouldn't have done this, maybe, when I throw him on the bed.

• 44:28Andrew Santino?

He's getting a little heavy, that's why? Maybe he needs to lose the weight, not you.

• 44:30Speaker 03

  This son of a bitch.

• 44:33Speaker 03

No, like, I've I've always been able to lose weight by changing what I eat and when I stop eating during the night.

• 44:39Andrew Santino?

Well, eating is, they always say that's the biggest.

• 44:41Speaker 03

For me, that's the way my body, for sure, works. Like, when I cut out stuff and I stop, like, I eat half the plate instead of the full plate. And I do that kind of stuff, that's

• 44:47Andrew Santino?

Don't you love a full plate?

• 44:48Speaker 03

But I love full plate. I'm in full plate action right now, so I'm having fun.

• 44:52Andrew Santino?

You're cleaning all of it. How long you been a veg? I didn't know you were a veg.

• 44:54Speaker 03

You did, we talked about it last time I was here. You should watch these episodes, they're good.

• 44:57Andrew Santino?

Are they? Oh, this is being recorded? How long you been a veg?

• 45:01Speaker 03

Uh, at this point, I think it's like eight years.

• 45:03Andrew Santino?

When we ate at the hotel, when you were at the Andaz.

• 45:05Speaker 03

You got, I got you meats.

• 45:07Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, but you didn't get a, I don't know.

• 45:08Speaker 03

No, no, no. We did, we ate family style, that's why. There was a bunch of fun stuff.

• 45:11Andrew Santino?

  I don't ever pay attention.

• 45:12Speaker 03

It's the only way to eat.

• 45:13Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 45:13Speaker 03

Family style's the only way to eat.

• 45:14Andrew Santino?

So, so how long has it been again?

• 45:17Speaker 03

I think eight years at this point, nine, maybe?

• 45:18Andrew Santino?

  My god.

• 45:19Speaker 03

  Yeah, a long time.

• 45:19Andrew Santino?

And I congratulate, I say, congratulations, good for you. Then I think about it. Yeah, if, no, but yeah, it is, good for you if it works for you, I guess.

• 45:25Speaker 03

If it works for you. I'm not one of those preachers.

• 45:27Andrew Santino?

  No, no.

• 45:28Speaker 03

No, I don't, those people, yeah.

• 45:29Andrew Santino?

  It's silly.

• 45:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 45:30Andrew Santino?

  Whatever, whatever.

• 45:31Speaker 03

I never get into it with people about it, it's like, whatever, it's like, it is what it is. You want all of it.

• 45:34Andrew Santino?

Some people make you feel real guilty about it.

• 45:36Speaker 03

Yeah, some people hit you with the jaw thing, you hear that? You're like, our jaws, we're meant to, if your jaw doesn't go side to side, you're meant to grind, you're supposed to be eating plants. Like, you know how a jaw goes around?

• 45:46Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 45:46Speaker 03

You know, like a lion just rips, they only can do this, they can't do this.

• 45:48Andrew Santino?

Right. Well, clearly, that, the jaw thing is a, a missed argument because I just went to the dentist again and I'll tell you what, uh, they never brush these things and now we're brushing them all the time. And nothing but problems, so. Let me tell you. I swear to god, the back, it's so crazy, it's like

• 46:04Speaker 03

  Wisdoms?

• 46:04Andrew Santino?

For years, I never had any problems, nothing, nothing, then all of a sudden, I don't know, he's like, oh yeah, everything is messed up. Well, I have three of my four.

• 46:11Speaker 03

  Came through.

• 46:12Andrew Santino?

  No, no, no.

• 46:13Speaker 03

  Oh, still hiding?

• 46:14Andrew Santino?

  One's impacted.

• 46:15Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 46:15Andrew Santino?

One's impacted and the others are halfway out or whatever. And for years, I've been, take them out, take them out, take them out. And then I said I'm, I said honestly, is it a health issue? And they were like, no. I'm like, well, then I'm not taking it out. Yeah, it doesn't make sense, right? I just, I guess I don't get it. I'm not taking it out unless I go, this has gotta come out.

• 46:32Speaker 03

Yeah, I didn't have, I had, two came in clean. One I didn't have, and one got impacted, but I lost the tooth in front of it, so it would just grow in a little bit like a curvy.

• 46:41Andrew Santino?

  Sideways?

• 46:42Speaker 03

And the back's a little sideways action, so I'm all set. I didn't have to do any of it. I, I, I got out scot, scot free, yeah.

• 46:47Andrew Santino?

Yeah, no, I had to go again, and it's a whole nightmare. They're, they, and they make you feel so bad about it. He made me feel so bad about it.

• 46:53Speaker 03

Nobody in the world is more judgy than a dental assistant.

• 46:56Andrew Santino?

What is that? Like a doctor's like, hey, man, we're gonna get through this together.

• 46:58Speaker 03

Yeah, what, I got your hand. They hold you bedside manner?

• 47:00Andrew Santino?

  Dentist.

• 47:01Speaker 03

Yeah, dentists are like, you disgusting. When's the last time you flossed, you piece of shit?

• 47:05Andrew Santino?

Like, I flossed, I flossed yesterday, and they're like, sure.

• 47:07Speaker 03

  Did you this morning, though?

• 47:08Andrew Santino?

Look at this. Look at this!

• 47:10Speaker 03

They pull out a full hamburger.

• 47:11Andrew Santino?

I don't like that they show it to you. They show you, they're like, look at this. You're like, I don't, I don't wanna see it.

• 47:16Speaker 03

Yeah, spit, and you spit in the thing, sink, and you just have all this food, and it's like, see?

• 47:19Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, they keep it.

• 47:20Speaker 03

Yeah, they keep it. Mm-hmm. And they put it in a jar, and next time you show up, you're like, did you do better?

• 47:24Andrew Santino?

Pay your copay and get out.

• 47:25Speaker 03

  Get out.

• 47:25Andrew Santino?

And get out of our office. No, it's, it's the...

• 47:28Speaker 03

So, yeah, the dentist has always been, for me, it was always just, it was always so guilty, like, oh, they always hit you. That's so funny. I've never really analyzed it that much. They hit you.

• 47:37Andrew Santino?

Such a guilt trip thing. And, and my, as a kid, we all went to the same dentist. My sister still goes to the dentist we went to when I was a kid, which is funny. He's watched us, like, grow up, and he was the nicest guy. He's like the nicest, sweetest, coolest dude. He still is family, he's family dentist for my family. And now I come out to LA, and they're all bullies. And so I think, what if I just go home and go to the dentist? Yeah, I'm, I'm home every two months anyway.

• 48:01Speaker 03

  It's like everything's fine.

• 48:02Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, who cares?

• 48:02Speaker 03

I had an, do you ever have, do you ever see, I had an abscessed tooth. You know what that is?

• 48:06Andrew Santino?

  Uh-uh.

• 48:06Speaker 03

So when you get the, when it, it's root canals are the way to get around them. Like, if you have a tooth that you need a root canal and you don't get it, then it gets an infection, it goes into your jaw, you get an abscessed tooth, so the infection is under your tooth, right? And it makes your jaw blow up. It's how people died back in the day. The infection goes to your brain, you have to get it done within, like, right away. It's like a big thing, right? But your face blows up. So I woke up one morning, I come downstairs, my mom, rest, rest in peace. I come downstairs, my, half my face is out. She goes, what the fuck's happening in your face? And I said, what? I, I knew my face hurt, but I didn't like look in the mirror yet. I had just woken up, right? She goes, god, look, you look like Jay Leno. And I go in the thing, and half my face was out. She's like, we gotta go to the dentist, right? So I go to the dentist. And the guy was like, oh, you know, we could treat it or whatever. And he's like, you know, he's like, oh, we could just yak it. I'm like, fucking pull it out. I don't want to be treated. Just pull it out. Give me my amoxicillin.

• 48:51Speaker 03

And that was the tooth that saved me from the wisdom tooth.

• 48:53Andrew Santino?

Oh, my God. By the way, is that what's really going on with Jay Leno? Do you think he's got a bunch of abscessed teeth? Is that the bottom line of, is that the real root of this story? Is that you're trying to tell JJ? Wake up.

• 49:02Speaker 03

Jay, check your teeth out, pal. I'm just wondering.

• 49:04Andrew Santino?

Imagine my dad. How did your dad die? He died from an abscession. Back in the day, the stuff that people died from. Like, I think the most, what, I watched this Wyatt Earp documentary, which, I don't know if you've, if you're familiar or know anything about that. Yeah, or the, or the.

• 49:17Speaker 03

  The Earps in general.

• 49:18Andrew Santino?

As the whole. Yeah, the brothers. You know, like, the whole story. It's kind of beautiful. They have a doc on it right now. And they talk about how many people died, um, uh, I think it's tuberculosis, right? Yeah, TB. But they used to call it, um, uh, uh, uh, oh, God. I want to find the word so bad. Tuberculosis. They used to call it, um, not, not, come on, come on, I'm gonna get it. I swear to God. Uh, they used to call it, uh.

• 49:44Speaker 03

We could cut all this out.

• 49:45Andrew Santino?

Please, yeah, don't cut this out. Yeah, watch me hunt for it. Oh, God, the word is called, um, come on, Joe, you're here with me. Figure it out. You got it.

• 49:53Speaker 03

  The word for tuberculosis?

• 49:55Andrew Santino?

Well, before they, before they said that, they called it something else. And it's not cessation. It's like, um.

• 50:00Speaker 03

You're just throwing words out. I don't even know. I think you made the word cessation up.

• 50:03Andrew Santino?

This is gonna be, this is gonna bum me out. So I'm gonna have to Google it right now.

• 50:05Speaker 03

Go in, um, I'll just riff. Hey, guys, thanks so much for, uh, watching this episode where we discuss airports and olden time wasted time.

• 50:15Andrew Santino?

What do we used to call tuberculosis? Consumption! God!

• 50:18Speaker 03

I know that. I knew that. I'm sorry.

• 50:20Andrew Santino?

So, um, uh, Doc Holliday, I guess, when he moved to Tombstone, um, had a terrible case of consumption. And this is the funniest thing. Back then, so many people had consumption, right? It like, it was just a common thing. And his fix was they were like, well, have a little bit of whiskey. And for some people, it would help, like, secede the pain and all that stuff. This dude was a blackout drunk and would get into gunfights, blackout drunk, and was still like a phenomenal shot, I guess. But lasted so long because the whiskey kind of like pickled his insides, so to speak. So consumption took him a long time for him to die.

• 50:55Speaker 03

  He overconsumed.

• 50:56Andrew Santino?

He was overconsuming. That guy was consuming. He consumed so much, consumption went away.

• 51:00Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 51:00Andrew Santino?

  It was impressive to watch.

• 51:01Speaker 03

  He was consumpted.

• 51:02Andrew Santino?

He was consumpted, fully consumpted. But it was a crazy documentary to watch how, how many, like, how many people had it.

• 51:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 51:08Andrew Santino?

And how many people died right away. But some people just lasted a super long time with it. But I guess he just, he was this kind of. Enigma and he would just drink all day, every day, but was still like such a functioning, like a high functioning alcoholic and was one of the best shots.

• 51:21Speaker 03

  Which is.

• 51:22Andrew Santino?

  He could shoot a gun.

• 51:23Speaker 03

  A gun.

• 51:23Andrew Santino?

  Blacked out drunk.

• 51:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 51:24Andrew Santino?

  And was good.

• 51:25Speaker 03

I wonder if he was bad sober. I wonder if he had no aim sober, right?

• 51:27Andrew Santino?

  Shaky sober.

• 51:29Speaker 03

  It's like, I can't do it.

• 51:29Andrew Santino?

  Don't mess with Holiday.

• 51:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 51:31Andrew Santino?

Yeah, wait till he gets liquored up. No, it was a fascinating doc about the, about the herbs and the shootout, the OK Corral. I was just, my dad and I watched it when I was back home. He loves that old western.

• 51:40Speaker 03

  He does, yeah.

• 51:41Andrew Santino?

That's kind of what, I mean, my dad is stuck in that time.

• 51:43Speaker 03

  I think, I think that's a dad thing.

• 51:45Andrew Santino?

  He loves it.

• 51:45Speaker 03

I don't think we are, our generation is, like that was, I have uncles, you know, my dad loved westerns, but I have like uncles and stuff that that age, like our generation, one up from us, that love westerns. I don't think that exists a love of something like they loved westerns.

• 52:00Andrew Santino?

I like it, but I never got it the way he fell in love with it.

• 52:03Speaker 03

My dad would shut us up if a western was on.

• 52:05Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah. John Wayne.

• 52:07Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 52:07Andrew Santino?

It was such a big deal for my dad. I don't know why. He loved that stuff so much. I think it's because it, it felt like, uh, because he's a kid that grew up in, in, uh, in North Carolina, in the mountains. So I, the Wild West for them was always this like fascinating place.

• 52:20Speaker 03

You know what? I lied. You know what that is for us superhero movies? Because Cowboys were their superhero, right?

• 52:25Andrew Santino?

  That is true, yeah.

• 52:26Speaker 03

I think for us, a lot of these superhero movies, a lot of people that get really into and dive in in a way of those things.

• 52:31Andrew Santino?

Yeah, what Star Wars did was probably what John Wayne did for little kids.

• 52:33Speaker 03

  Right.

• 52:34Andrew Santino?

  Playing Cowboys in India was.

• 52:35Speaker 03

He's a Chewbacca from the West.

• 52:38Andrew Santino?

I'd say Darth Vader, but yes, yeah, yes, I'd say so. Yeah, well, who was Princess Leia then of Cowboy World?

• 52:43Speaker 03

Oh, oh, that's, yeah, who was the?

• 52:45Andrew Santino?

  What's the woman in?

• 52:46Speaker 03

What's the girl, who's the woman who famously got, uh, talked to the tracks?

• 52:48Andrew Santino?

Gone with the Wind. Oh, oh, yeah, I'm thinking of.

• 52:50Speaker 03

  Not Doris Day, uh.

• 52:52Andrew Santino?

No, but Doris Day, what a singer. Wrong world. Uh, uh, Catherine O'Hara? No.

• 52:57Speaker 03

  Catherine Hepburn?

• 52:58Andrew Santino?

  Catherine Hepburn?

• 52:59Speaker 03

  Hepburn.

• 52:59Andrew Santino?

  Who knows? You're wrong.

• 53:01Speaker 03

  Uh, Faye.

• 53:02Andrew Santino?

  Faye.

• 53:02Speaker 03

  Faye Dunaway.

• 53:03Andrew Santino?

  Faye Dunaway.

• 53:03Speaker 03

  Faye Dunaway.

• 53:04Andrew Santino?

  There it is.

• 53:04Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 53:04Andrew Santino?

All these names are probably wrong and someone at home is being like, they don't know what they're talking about. No, I, he loved it. Like my dad loved, um, Andy Griffith. I, I've seen so many episodes of Andy Griffith. Some of our listeners have literally no idea what that is.

• 53:16Speaker 03

But they'll Google it now and they'll see it.

• 53:17Andrew Santino?

Right. They'll know who Ron Howard was, who I was called when I was a kid a lot. Opie.

• 53:21Speaker 03

  Opie.

• 53:21Andrew Santino?

All the black kids at school. They'd go, Opie right there. You go, hey, here come Opie. They used to say that all the time. Opie, yeah, it was little Opie Taylor. Cause at the time, that was something that was like a cultural reference, that a little redheaded, big eared kid was Opie Taylor.

• 53:33Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 53:33Andrew Santino?

Who would be Ron Howard. It's funny because man, what a cute kid and then, and man, what a good director.

• 53:38Speaker 03

  Great director.

• 53:39Andrew Santino?

  Great, great director.

• 53:40Speaker 03

  Great director.

• 53:40Andrew Santino?

  Get behind the camera.

• 53:43Andrew Santino?

Well, I'll never work with him anymore. That's the end of that.

• 53:45Speaker 03

  That's it, it's done.

• 53:46Andrew Santino?

No, he is a phenomenal director. But yeah, I was called Kobe as a kid.

• 53:49Speaker 03

One of my favorite Ron Howard stories ever. We were somewhere doing something with the network and Ron Howard's coming out of this party that we were going into. I'm with Q, Brian. So we were walking in and he was like, we just got out of the car. He was waiting for his, about to get in his car. And he walked by us and, you know, he's got to us, right? Ron Howard made all these movies we love, right? So he walks by, he's on his cellphone and Brian just goes, "Ron Howard!" And points in his face and Ron goes, hey, just gets in the car and he walked away and Q turned white. He goes, "I just pointed in Ron Howard's face and said his name. I'm such an idiot." Like that was his motto. "Ron Howard!"

• 54:21Andrew Santino?

  Correct.

• 54:21Speaker 03

  I guess.

• 54:22Andrew Santino?

Good boy, yeah. Get him a star. You want a star, buddy? You want a sucker? I mean, we've all felt that way about someone where, like, I don't get kind of, I don't get, you know, I don't know.

• 54:32Speaker 03

Who's the best person you worked with, you think? That you were like, "Oh, my God, I'm working with this person."

• 54:35Andrew Santino?

Like tongue tied, but I don't get, and no one really makes me like nervous like that, but there's people that I, that I think are, you know, I don't like, I worked, I did the movie with William H. Macy. I was like, I thought he was just incredible. I don't know. I've always been like, "That guy's incredible." And we didn't really do a lot together. We had a couple of scenes, but he was one of those guys I just think is an unbelievably good actor. Yeah, he's not intimidating as a guy. He's a very sweet guy. He's not like off putting. But I don't get nervous around any of those guys or anything. I just, there's some people I'm significantly more impressed by. And then other people would go, that you don't, that's not more impressive? I'm like, "Not really." It depends for me what it is.

• 55:11Speaker 03

You, not nervous like, or tongue tied, but do you find yourself in your head a little bit that you're sitting with that person or being whatever, like?

• 55:18Andrew Santino?

No, the only time I get a little bit of a hiccup is right before we work, if we're about to do work together. Right before we work, then I think, "All right, be good in front of this person because, you know, like, don't look like a dummy and know your shit. Come be a professional."

• 55:31Speaker 03

You don't want to be the guy that's not professional.

• 55:31Andrew Santino?

I just don't want to be unprofessional. I don't want to like, I don't want to look lazy to them. I don't want them to be like, "What are you doing, dude?"

• 55:37Speaker 03

Yeah. You don't want to be the guy everybody's talking about.

• 55:39Andrew Santino?

Correct. Yeah, I just don't want that thing. Other than that, no, I don't get, I don't get all chewed up by it. I just think like, come prepared and be legit. It's important, I guess, because you want to show them that like, I do my job too, you know, I don't give a shit if they think I'm good or not. I care if they know that I'm professional.

• 55:54Speaker 03

  Professional, right.

• 55:55Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, because that's

• 55:55Speaker 03

Because that's probably the biggest slap in the face, is why he's trying to be professional and they're across from this.

• 55:59Andrew Santino?

And someone's goofing, right? I've made some dumb mistakes. We've talked about it before on Bad Friends that I, you know, I had a table read in front of Will Ferrell and I just ate shit in front of him and I, forever, I was like, man, this sucks. I was, I wasn't being unprofessional at all. I was very prepared. I just didn't do a great job at the read, so I was bummed. I was like, man, in front of Will, of all people, you know? And sure enough, you know, it wasn't, I wasn't gonna have that role anyway. It was doing a favor to do a read where they wanna see how the comedy works in the room, you know? Which is also a little insulting, because then you do it and you see the guy that did it, that played the role, you know? You know, like, they just offered it to that guy. I had to go read it, make sure it sounded right so they could punch it up, and then they gave it to someone famous. Yeah. Which is, that's, that's the whole, your whole career. It truly is like, until you get to a point when they're interested in you, you're just the, you're the fluffer. You're the warm-up guy.

• 56:43Speaker 03

  Yeah, for sure.

• 56:43Andrew Santino?

I'm just spitting on my hands and getting everybody ready. That's all, I mean, truly, you're like, get in there, warm 'em up, let him, let's hear how it sounds. I did that for years. I would go into script readings for people because they wanted to hear me do a comedic take on something so they could punch it up and then give it to the next guy. Which sucked. I hated that feeling. There was a couple, I mean, I did it for Judd a lot.

• 57:02Speaker 03

  Yeah?

• 57:02Andrew Santino?

Judd. Never got put in anything by Judd. I did, I did a bunch for Judd. I did a bunch for a lot of people where I'd come in, you know, and then you'd kill it. They'd just, they'd be like, dude, that's awesome. Thank you, thank you.

• 57:12Speaker 03

Well, you brought it to life.

• 57:13Andrew Santino?

Thank you so much. Yeah, it's, you know, it's gonna go to Emile Hirsch, or something, you're like, what?

• 57:17Speaker 03

  See you later.

• 57:18Andrew Santino?

Yeah. It was just so weird that, how they would shape those things, but I think it's also because they all, they wanna hear it come through a different party's voice to see how they could then refit it into someone else. Because if you were too similar to whoever it was, you know, it'd be, it'd be

• 57:33Speaker 03

  I got a, I got a joke in Wonder Woman 2.

• 57:35Andrew Santino?

  Nah.

• 57:36Speaker 03

  From a set visit.

• 57:37Andrew Santino?

  Come on.

• 57:37Speaker 03

  Yeah, it was great.

• 57:38Andrew Santino?

  Give it to me.

• 57:39Speaker 03

So there's a scene where she's fighting in the mall, you know, it was back in the day, we were setting the, you know, whatever, so she's fighting in the mall, whatever, and I, I'm good friends with Patty Jenkins, the director, so. And she, it was my birthday weekend, she's like, come to set. I was in DC, we were just filming Jokers, the movie was ending, and we were, I was in DC, I stayed an extra two days to go to set. So I'm sitting there and I'm just, you know, directing is my thing, that's like what I wanna do eventually, so I'm Sitting there and I'm like looking at all and I'm just taking it all in and to be on a set like that is crazy. They literally took over an abandoned mall and made it a 1980s mall.

• 58:06Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 58:06Speaker 03

  Like it was unbelievable.

• 58:07Andrew Santino?

Or they just went somewhere in the valley and they're all 1980s malls. Just don't go to the west valley.

• 58:11Speaker 03

So it was like three floors of just all this stuff and they were doing an action sequence where she's fighting all these guys, whatever, right? So she does this scene where Wonder Woman is like they're shooting at her and she just grabs the gun and like smashes him, whatever. So Gal Gadot is, you know, does the whole thing in the Wonder Woman thing, smacks the guns and walks back and she's like, uh, she's like, no, no. Like that's the line she kept doing and her and Patty, like I'm watching Patty watch her and whatever and I'm sitting in Village. And she's like, uh, she walks back and they re-watch one and she had done like a funny take where Gal like whipped her hair and she was like, and Patty was like, you're not on a runway. Like they're like joking about it and I was like, and I was just sitting there and I was just like, yeah, you're like, I hate guns. And they started hysterical, so the next take she goes, she breaks them, she goes, I hate guns and walks back.

• 58:53Andrew Santino?

That's great. And it's in it. No credit by the way.

• 58:56Speaker 03

No, that's okay. You know what though?

• 58:57Andrew Santino?

No, no, no, no, no. That's not okay. Patty, write the check, will you?

• 59:01Speaker 03

No, she's paid me back multiple times.

• 59:03Andrew Santino?

That is great though. That it's cool to have that. Like I, you know, I did this little scene, this thing and then they were trying to find a line and I was friends with the director and I'm in the scene. And then they were trying to find an insult for Woody Harrelson to say to me. And, uh, uh, you know, I'm not going to give it away because it's actually fun in the movie, but it was cool because, you know, Woody was kind of like going through different versions of what to make fun of me about. And I was like, who knows better than me of what to make fun of?

• 59:27Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 59:27Andrew Santino?

So I just threw him a line and he was like, that's funny. That's funny.

• 59:30Speaker 03

Oh, that's wow. How cool is that?

• 59:32Andrew Santino?

Woody asked the director, who I've known for a very, a very long time, who's an old friend of mine and he said, uh, you know, who is that? Who's that guy? Cause he, no idea. And then, you know, he told Woody and then kind of Woody glowed up to me a little bit. It was like, oh, great. I know, you know, comedian, da, da, da. Like then he was very interested. He thought I was just like some random day player in there. But it was kind of fascinating to like watch, uh, him take the thing and then run with it. And then then Isla Fisher was like, uh, she's like, hey, uh, You wanna help me with some stuff?

• 59:59Speaker 03

  Oh, that's so cool.

• 1:00:00Andrew Santino?

Yeah, sure. Yeah, you know what I mean? Where you're like, I just said, I mean, I gotta rewrite the whole scene. You know what I mean? Or write that check. No, but it was, those moments that actually land in the, in the movie or the show or something, it's magical. It is, it is so wild.

• 1:00:15Speaker 03

I've got, I've got a magical, cause that's something you have that I've, I've, I don't have. Like being in the movies, like when you were doing like, you know, any of these movies that you did, that you were able just to like throw something and watch it work and then watch it be the end product.

• 1:00:26Andrew Santino?

  It's wild.

• 1:00:26Speaker 03

It's gotta be such a cool experience.

• 1:00:27Andrew Santino?

It feels so, but it's just-

• 1:00:28Speaker 03

Because you're in there to see it happen.

• 1:00:29Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 1:00:30Speaker 03

And it's not even happening, then it happens and then everybody laughs when I say cut. And then it's in the movie and then the whole audience laughs because of something you thought of. It's gotta be that.

• 1:00:37Andrew Santino?

Well, it's, I mean, it's, it's the same thing that we do with stand-up where you're like, it's, it's like when you test out a joke for the first time at a club or whatever. And it pops a little bit and then you keep doing it and it builds. And then when you get to the theater or wherever, or just another club.

• 1:00:48Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:00:48Andrew Santino?

And then you, it's really like ingrained in your set. And it works really, really well. It's the same feeling as when you watch it live that you're like, I can't believe we've, I'm not a, I'm an idiot.

• 1:00:58Speaker 03

  I know.

• 1:00:59Andrew Santino?

  This worked. It worked!

• 1:01:00Speaker 03

This has fired off one round.

• 1:01:01Andrew Santino?

Mom, it worked! You know, that's how, that's how it feels. I, who is, you wanna be a director in your, in the future of your life as like a, that one, that's kinda your end game goal.

• 1:01:11Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:01:11Andrew Santino?

Who's your like, uh, you know, who's your like, who do you really wanna work with? That you're like, you know, would really make my career if I could work with?

• 1:01:19Speaker 03

  Oh, as, as an actor?

• 1:01:20Andrew Santino?

  Director, actor, whatever you want.

• 1:01:21Speaker 03

Oh, gotcha. Um, funny you should ask, I have the script for you.

• 1:01:25Andrew Santino?

Oh, give it to me. Give it to me. You know, I can't read, but yeah, give it to me.

• 1:01:28Speaker 03

Um, no, I mean, I'm a, I'm a fan of like a lot, a lot of actors for different reasons. I mean, right now, I'm, I just saw the new Speak No Evil. McAvoy is unbelievable.

• 1:01:39Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:40Speaker 03

  He's unbelievable.

• 1:01:40Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, he is.

• 1:01:41Speaker 03

He's just great. Like, I mean, I loved Split and all that too, but like, he's just, he's unreal. So I, I think for me, he's probably up there for somebody. But I'm doing, if I'm doing like a comedy, uh, like an action comedy kinda thing, um... I mean, there's just so many good comedians. It's like so many good comedic actors.

• 1:01:57Andrew Santino?

Yeah, but McAvoy, that's what I was looking for.

• 1:01:58Speaker 03

Yeah, McAvoy is like, I feel like he just bring, he would bring something to life, like in a way, you know?

• 1:02:04Andrew Santino?

Oh, he's incredible. I mean, talent. Sometimes you see these guys and you're like, what's going on?

• 1:02:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:09Andrew Santino?

You're different? Were you made? Did they make you somewhere?

• 1:02:10Speaker 03

Yeah, but you know what I always watch is like when you watch a scene between two people and you're like, this poor person's gotta go and do this scene? With that, like, I can't even imagine what that moment is. In that movie, Speak No Evil, the kid that plays the, the main kid in it has one of the most emotional things I've ever seen. I went to the premiere, they brought him out on Saturday, whatever. He never acted once. This is his first thing.

• 1:02:29Andrew Santino?

  What?

• 1:02:29Speaker 03

He looked like he was an Academy Award winner. Unbelievable.

• 1:02:33Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:34Speaker 03

Unbelievable. And it's all acting because he doesn't speak. It's big noise, right? So he doesn't, and it's all just face emoting.

• 1:02:41Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:41Speaker 03

  Unreal.

• 1:02:42Andrew Santino?

Well, sometimes the, the rawness of that is what.

• 1:02:45Speaker 03

  You need.

• 1:02:45Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it's like what propels people to like a different level because it's so organic.

• 1:02:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:50Andrew Santino?

A lot of times, you know, and I'm, I'm subject to this too, is overacting gets in your own way because you feel like you want to do so much because you want to make sure what you do gets in. So you do too much. We've all done that. I mean, I, I'm definitely one of, I've overacted. So it's like, because you really want it to like make it, you want it to make it. You want it to be.

• 1:03:08Speaker 03

  You've overacted?

• 1:03:08Andrew Santino?

  Good.

• 1:03:12Andrew Santino?

It's my whole career. This guy stinks.

• 1:03:15Speaker 03

Oh, yeah. That's tough though, because like you're trying, I feel like that's when you don't understand what you're trying to, you're supposed to do. Like a lot of times you'll just like.

• 1:03:22Andrew Santino?

Well, you're trying to figure it out.

• 1:03:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:03:23Andrew Santino?

We're all trying to figure it out.

• 1:03:24Speaker 03

But you, you have to try to figure out on set too, right? It's not fair that you're, you're doing your read-throughs, you're doing whatever. That's not the moment. The moment that you figure it out is when the cameras are there, you're in the moment of the scene at what feels right. So you need to, you need those third, fourth takes, you know?

• 1:03:36Andrew Santino?

It is, it is, you, it is definitely you're going to school while you're, you know what I mean? Like you're in school for sure the whole time. Doesn't matter how much acting experience people have. I see all the good actors I've ever worked with. They're also kind of learning while they're doing. I mean, they're, they know what they like and they know what they want to present. But you do see, guys are still in school while they're doing it. They, the way that they work with different people depends on so many other factors.

• 1:03:58Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:03:59Andrew Santino?

It's impressive to watch, but you know, yes, I'll be in your movie at the end of the day, if that's what you really want. Yeah.

• 1:04:04Speaker 03

I would love to do a movie with you.

• 1:04:06Andrew Santino?

It'd be fun. I will not take direction from you, but I will be in your movie.

• 1:04:09Speaker 03

That's okay. I won't need you to. I won't need you. I'll just go, go. And you just go, whee.

• 1:04:13Andrew Santino?

  That, Matt, there it is.

• 1:04:16Speaker 03

You're really scared in the seat. Do it.

• 1:04:17Andrew Santino?

Academy Award. I'd like to thank Joe Gatto for letting me just be me.

• 1:04:21Speaker 03

Finally, I get to do it.

• 1:04:22Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:23Speaker 03

You're, you're taking line is, zonkeys.

• 1:04:25Andrew Santino?

Zonkeys. And a trademark right now. Everyone, somebody trademarked that right now.

• 1:04:29Speaker 03

That's it. I'm writing a script where you say zonkeys.

• 1:04:31Andrew Santino?

Zonkeys. That's it. Just pop in, pop out.

• 1:04:33Speaker 03

  Please.

• 1:04:34Andrew Santino?

  Deliver a pizza. Zonkeys.

• 1:04:35Speaker 03

Can we make a pact right now?

• 1:04:36Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, dude.

• 1:04:37Speaker 03

That I do a comedy, that you'll pop in and go, zonkeys.

• 1:04:39Andrew Santino?

You write it. I'll do it. You get it ready. I'll show up and do it.

• 1:04:42Speaker 03

  Amazing.

• 1:04:42Andrew Santino?

No problem. But I do want, I do want to be compensated.

• 1:04:45Speaker 03

  A significant amount of money.

• 1:04:46Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah, if I'm gonna show up.

• 1:04:49Speaker 03

I just have to need to rewrite all, uh, Isla Fishers.

• 1:04:51Andrew Santino?

That's fine. If you can get her, that's fine. Yeah, I got to go to Budapest and do a little thing. I don't know. If you've ever been there, Budapest is.

• 1:04:56Speaker 03

  Hmm, amazing.

• 1:04:58Andrew Santino?

Pretty cool. Pretty cool. Well, yeah, it's in, it's fifty fifty. You're like, this is beautiful and amazing. It's also been rebuilt since it was war torn.

• 1:05:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:05:04Andrew Santino?

So I don't know if you've been to any of these countries where you're like, Eastern Europe is, it is beautiful. You can also feel you go two miles outside of town. You're like, ooh. My.

• 1:05:13Speaker 03

  They stopped building here.

• 1:05:14Andrew Santino?

  Good God, yeah.

• 1:05:15Speaker 03

  The money ran out here.

• 1:05:16Andrew Santino?

Well, cause they, and they also, you know, so much of it's trying to build for the past. So they want to make a lot of stuff look like it used to look a hundred fifty years ago, you know? So they try to make the architecture oftentimes reflect their history, which is hard. It's just hard to do. But it just, it feels, some parts of it feel like a movie set. Cause it's like dystopian. You're like, this is like a blown out factory.

• 1:05:37Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:05:37Andrew Santino?

  Next door to somebody's home.

• 1:05:38Speaker 03

You look this way, there's a Starbucks in a mall. You turn around, there's just like crumbled.

• 1:05:41Andrew Santino?

Seriously. It's like a McDonald's and then you're like, what would be like a crack building in like a, in a movie. I mean, it looks like Michael Bay got a hold of some of the town.

• 1:05:48Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:05:48Andrew Santino?

It's, it's very weird. It does something to your brain. Cause you, you're used to these like thriving Western European cities. And when you go to Eastern Europe, you see pieces of that, glimpses of it. And then it's completely removed when you go a little bit outside of town. We walked for miles and miles. Cause I. Uh, we're these, there were these natural, uh, thermal springs that we wanted to go to.

• 1:06:06Speaker 03

  Oh, fancy.

• 1:06:07Andrew Santino?

Amazing. It was amazing. There's so many thermals out there that different pool houses and bath houses and there's, there's really raw ones that are like out, out that you can go to like out on the other side of the mountain, I guess. We didn't end up that far out, but it was wild to kind of go through their culture like that to see the.

• 1:06:24Speaker 03

You don't expect that though either, right?

• 1:06:26Andrew Santino?

  My god, no. I mean.

• 1:06:27Speaker 03

What a different landscape just by turning three sixty, right? You're looking at all these different.

• 1:06:31Andrew Santino?

It is, it is. I mean, it's fascinating because there's so much money in one part of it. So much money in one part of it. It's a lot of it's foreign money, you know? And then you go out and you can see how it's, you know, we're lucky. That's all I gotta say.

• 1:06:43Speaker 03

  Yeah, right.

• 1:06:43Andrew Santino?

The more, the more I, the more I live, the more I travel, the more I'm like, man, we're pretty lucky. People can say whatever they want about, you know, oh, I don't like this about this. You're like, I know, dude, but.

• 1:06:51Speaker 03

Yeah, but you should see that.

• 1:06:52Andrew Santino?

• 1:08:51Speaker 03

  Happiness.

• 1:08:52Speaker 01

In here, we pour whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

You're that creature in the ginger beard.

• 1:09:00Speaker 05

Sturdy and ginger. Like vampires, the ginger gene is a curse.

• 1:09:03Speaker 04

Gingers are beautiful. You owe me five dollars for the whiskey and seventy-five dollars for the horse. Gingers, oh hell no.

• 1:09:10Speaker 02

This whiskey is excellent. Ginger, I like gingers.
