Support for the show comes from Jira by Atlassian. AI is only as useful as the context it has to work from. But when that context is scattered across tools, threads, and DMs, that means your team and your AI agents end up flying blind. That's the problem that Jira solves. What's the goal tied to your project? What got decided last week in Slack? Atlassian's teamwork graph pulls all these pieces together, from Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more. So, nothing falls through the cracks. With Jira, you can actually share that context with the AI agents you already use, like Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, assign them work directly, or connect your agents through MCP. Spend less time digging through endless links and DMs, less time chasing down what got decided and by who, and more time actually shipping. Learn more at jira.com.

• 1:18Speaker 01

  That's J-I-R-A dot com.

• 1:54Speaker 02

  This is your...

• 1:55Speaker 01

  Oh, my God, sorry.

• 1:57Speaker 02

I was like, was that that live? Okay, now we're going live.

• 2:01Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 2:02David Imel?

  Okay.

• 2:05Speaker 01

  Let us know.

• 2:06Speaker 04

  Going live on Marquez.

• 2:07Speaker 01

  Guess.

• 2:08David Imel?

  Wait, we're not live, right?

• 2:09Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:09Speaker 01

You want me to count down?

• 2:10Andrew Manganelli?

  Well.

• 2:11Speaker 04

  We're already live.

• 2:12Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 2:13Speaker 04

Yeah. No, no, but they can't. They can't see you yet. Yeah.

• 2:16David Imel?

  Oh.

• 2:16Speaker 04

We still have the technical difficulties.

• 2:17David Imel?

  Can I hear us?

• 2:18Speaker 01

So let me know when we're live.

• 2:21Andrew Manganelli?

I see you live on the thing right now.

• 2:23Speaker 04

  Okay, yeah, we're live.

• 2:24Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, we are.

• 2:24Speaker 01

We are. Okay, great. Uh, yo. Welcome, uh, welcome to the super on time, super impromptu, but definitely live. You obviously can tell it's really live. Uh, waveform, episode number 300.

• 2:41David Imel?

  Like the movie.

• 2:42Speaker 01

  It's good to be here.

• 2:44David Imel?

  Guys, why are we late?

• 2:45Speaker 01

Yeah, well, you know. Going live is, is always an adventure and you guys are setting up OBS and wanted to plug it into this channel and we were testing it on another channel and we went live in OBS and it wasn't live here and we had to connect the dots and now it's all good.

• 2:58Andrew Manganelli?

We were going live to Adam's channel, our test channel.

• 3:01David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 3:01Andrew Manganelli?

For a little bit there. So that's what was happening.

• 3:04David Imel?

  Oh.

• 3:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Um.

• 3:05David Imel?

  That's funny.

• 3:06Andrew Manganelli?

  But we're here.

• 3:07Speaker 01

  We're here. We're your hosts. I'm Marquez.

• 3:08Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm Andrew.

• 3:09David Imel?

  And I'm David.

• 3:10Speaker 01

So we had a lot of fun at the last live thing that we did, which is South by Southwest, but that was on stage for like a technically a closed event where you had to like pay to have tickets to South by and then go to our thing. This, we just wanted to have fun and do an episode for everyone and episode 300 was a good opportunity to do that because we've, we've come a long way. Um, what do we want to do? Cause we have, we have chat gone pretty crazy right now. We can talk to them.

• 3:33David Imel?

I want to tell you a story really quickly.

• 3:36Andrew Manganelli?

Sure. Wait, before you do that.

• 3:37David Imel?

  Okay.

• 3:38Andrew Manganelli?

Start asking questions in the chat, please. Most of this episode will be us answering them. We have people grabbing questions from here. Dave's gonna tell a story.

• 3:46David Imel?

  Okay.

• 3:47Andrew Manganelli?

Then we're gonna get a little sappy about the podcast and then we'll answer questions.

• 3:50David Imel?

  That's nice.

• 3:51Andrew Manganelli?

  Cool.

• 3:51David Imel?

  Okay.

• 3:52Speaker 01

  Fire.

• 3:52David Imel?

Last night I had a dream. Okay, I want to tell you guys about my dream.

• 3:56Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 3:56David Imel?

So this is right before I woke up, by the way, so I still remember the whole thing.

• 4:00Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 4:01David Imel?

Incredible. Okay, I was rollerblading to work. I don't know why. I don't know how to rollerblade.

• 4:07Andrew Manganelli?

  You knew the commute?

• 4:07David Imel?

I think that we were, we were like in another city. I was rollerblading. It was super fun. I was like, this is so sick.

• 4:13Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 4:14David Imel?

  To do this live podcast.

• 4:15Speaker 01

  Uh-huh.

• 4:16David Imel?

Right? Okay, so I get to the office and we're in this other room. But you guys were like, okay, in order to do this live podcast, we only own one camera. So we have to, we had this small, round table that was like, it was like this big. It was not big. And we're all kind of crowded around it with this big, wide-angle lens. And we're like, okay, guys, we're doing the live podcast. And then we had like sundaes, you know, like ice cream sundaes.

• 4:43Speaker 01

  Hmm, mhm.

• 4:44David Imel?

And they had banana splits in them. And Marquez tried to convince me that the way that you make chocolate, like hard on the top of ice cream, is by putting like, like melting butter and pouring it on it. And I was like, that's not how that works. And he was like, yes, it is. And then we fought about it for like a while.

• 5:04Speaker 01

  Your brain.

• 5:05David Imel?

  And then I woke up.

• 5:07Speaker 01

Your brain does not have very much faith in me. That is wild.

• 5:10Speaker 02

You were triggered by the conversation the other day about whether it was red or read receipts.

• 5:15Speaker 01

Yeah, we did have a whole test stream where then we went into this 40-minute conversation about read receipts versus red receipts. By the way, I put out a poll on Twitter and Threads. Is it read receipts or red receipts?

• 5:29Speaker 02

Wait, you mean you put it out on Twitter and threes?

• 5:31Speaker 01

Well, I put, so Threads said red receipts won the poll, but on Twitter, read receipts won the poll.

• 5:41David Imel?

Yeah, but how much did it win by on Threads?

• 5:43Speaker 01

So it won by a higher percentage on Threads, but less votes were cast on Threads. So I had to do the math because there was 50,000 more votes on Twitter, even though it won by a smaller percentage. And overall total between all of the votes, I think read receipts slightly edged out, no, red receipts slightly edged out read receipts. Which was a bummer because that's incorrect.

• 6:06David Imel?

  Yes.

• 6:06Speaker 01

  But.

• 6:07David Imel?

  Thank you.

• 6:07Speaker 01

Anyway, that happened. Chat is going crazy. I see a lot of you guys saying the volume's low, so I think we're gonna try to bump that up a little bit. Is it live or pre-recorded? It's live. Threes, thank you. Shout out to everyone who is actually doing your dishes. This is super new, but David, why do you think the RX1R that just got released is?

• 6:27David Imel?

  $5,000?

• 6:28Speaker 01

  Is $5,000.

• 6:29David Imel?

  Uh, cuz they can.

• 6:31Speaker 01

Shout out to Sony. Shout out to Sony and tariffs. All right, so small retrospective, then we'll go all chat because we wanted to just sort of recap how we got here to episode 300. That's true. So Waveform started as just Andrew and I and just audio. And that was 2019, August 2019, when we first started. And the idea of the podcast was pretty, it's kind of the same as it is now, which was we have a lot of these conversations about tech that don't make it to videos or are kind of like the run up that turns into videos, et cetera. And we just want to capture those because they're actually really interesting conversations. Maybe people will enjoy them.

• 7:07Andrew Manganelli?

And sometimes it's like the conversation we're having for the first time. So you can almost see all our brains working on like how this could, there have been conversations on the podcast that we've turned into videos.

• 7:18Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 7:18Andrew Manganelli?

Because we've had a good enough conversation about it.

• 7:20Speaker 01

  Yeah, unfinished thoughts.

• 7:21Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 7:21Speaker 01

Getting into the weeds on stuff. It soon turned into a weekly podcast and we had two years of basically getting up to weekly by January 2021.

• 7:34Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 7:34Speaker 01

And then Adam joined as a permanent producer of the Waveform podcast. Shout out to Adam.

• 7:40Andrew Manganelli?

  That was episode 50.

• 7:41Speaker 01

Adam is also currently live camera switching right now, so he is locked in.

• 7:48Speaker 01

But that was Adam's joining. David joined as a guest host for the first time ever, also in 2021.

• 7:57Speaker 01

And actually, this is the beginning of trivia.

• 7:59Andrew Manganelli?

So it was episode 54. Do you remember this?

• 8:02Speaker 01

I remember doing the trivia thing.

• 8:04Andrew Manganelli?

There was like a trivia segment of us and he was the host of the trivia segment. I think it was before video, but that kind of was technically the first trivia we've ever done on the podcast.

• 8:14Speaker 01

  Yeah, the second table.

• 8:16Andrew Manganelli?

  The weird table in here.

• 8:18Speaker 01

Yeah. And that's also the first time we did a long form episode, which is when you told us the story essentially of how Boosted Boards rose and fell. And we've done some many more really interesting long form storytelling type episodes since then, which is awesome.

• 8:33Andrew Manganelli?

Looking here, between episode 45 and 62, a lot of stuff happened.

• 8:38Speaker 01

We leveled up. We decided it would be a real thing, basically.

• 8:41Andrew Manganelli?

Because like that was episode 59 for Rise and Fall of Boosted and then episode 62 was our first video podcast.

• 8:48Speaker 01

So then, you know, we fast forward a little bit, Tim starts making a sort of a thumbnail thumb, wow, thumbnail template.

• 8:56Andrew Manganelli?

  We can't redo that.

• 8:56Speaker 01

Thumbnail template. Thumbnail. A timnail. We have Timnails now. And we also started, we added Ellis as a full-time producer. His first episode is 2022 in May. That was episode 116.

• 9:12Speaker 04

Can I tell a funny story from that, actually, real quick?

• 9:14Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 9:14Speaker 04

Because when you get hired here, there's like a short period where you're not on camera. You're sort of like finding your way and like you're just sort of, you know, get used to the vibe before you're like, and there was no producer cam at this point. So it wasn't like I was going to be on camera. But on my first Waveform episode, before I had any idea what was going on, like still learning the ropes, I'm like sitting back here in the corner and like you turn around, Marquez, and you just go, Ellis, what do you think about that?

• 9:40Speaker 04

And I was just like, ah, ah, ah, I don't exist. Yeah, I don't exist.

• 9:44Speaker 01

No pressure. Yeah, this is, this is a pretty classic intro. But then, yeah, by the time we get to 2023, David is a full-time, permanent host. We are doing videos. We are cooking on YouTube.

• 9:56David Imel?

  That was 2023?

• 9:57Speaker 01

Yeah. And it's been growing. It's for like permanent full-time because you were on plenty of episodes before then.

• 10:01Andrew Manganelli?

You hosted so many. So this morning I asked ChatGPT, how many episodes did David host before 2023? And it said 297.

• 10:12Speaker 01

  It has no idea.

• 10:12Andrew Manganelli?

Considering there are 300 total episodes.

• 10:16Speaker 01

  It has no idea.

• 10:16Andrew Manganelli?

  It has no clue.

• 10:18Speaker 01

Yeah. But long story short, we're halfway through 2025. We're closing in on six years of this being a podcast. 300 episodes, lots of thoughts, lots of dishes washed, lots of trivia questions answered.

• 10:31David Imel?

I would love to know the stats on how many dishes have been washed.

• 10:34Speaker 01

I think about that a lot.

• 10:35Andrew Manganelli?

Spotify wrapped. That would be an awesome section of Spotify wrapped.

• 10:39David Imel?

You washed 800 plates while listening to Waveform.

• 10:42Speaker 01

But yeah, um, thank you for subscribing, of course, and for listening and for watching and for being a part of Waveform. Now I'm locked in on chat. I'm just watching chat now. I want to know what you guys want to know.

• 10:52David Imel?

  Chat, are we cooked?

• 10:53Speaker 01

I think we should just read from questions.

• 10:56Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 10:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:57Andrew Manganelli?

I've just seen a lot of nice shirt, David, so.

• 10:59Speaker 01

  Oh, thank you.

• 11:00David Imel?

This is my party shirt for the, the live episode. Tried to make it colorful.

• 11:04Speaker 01

Here's a random one. Fitarista, will Fairphone 6 get a full review? Um, maybe. Oh, this is perfect. We would normally not keep talking through the, I don't know if you guys can hear the like lawnmower. The air rake. What do you call it? Air rake?

• 11:18David Imel?

  Lawnmower?

• 11:19Speaker 01

  Air rake? Air rake?

• 11:20David Imel?

  I've called.

• 11:20Andrew Manganelli?

  Leaf blower?

• 11:21Speaker 01

I grew up on air rake and everyone else says leaf blower, but I grew up on air rake.

• 11:25David Imel?

I've never even heard of that.

• 11:25Speaker 04

That sounds like what they called it.

• 11:26David Imel?

I thought that was a Twitch streamer.

• 11:27Speaker 01

  Arak. Arak is a YouTuber.

• 11:30Speaker 04

And air rake sounds like what they would call it in the 50s to like, wow.

• 11:33Speaker 01

Yeah, but it made so much sense. Cause as a kid, I was like, yeah, air rake. That makes perfect sense.

• 11:38Andrew Manganelli?

What do you call the other one for like edges and?

• 11:42Speaker 01

  The trimmer?

• 11:43Andrew Manganelli?

  String trimmer?

• 11:45Speaker 01

  Oh, string, yeah.

• 11:45Andrew Manganelli?

  Or weed whacker.

• 11:46David Imel?

  Weed whacker.

• 11:47Speaker 01

Oh, the weed whacker. Yeah. Yeah, weed whacker is more, more on point. But yeah, we normally.

• 11:51Andrew Manganelli?

This is our first debate of the live.

• 11:53Speaker 01

We would normally stop recording when that makes noise, but it's live.

• 11:56Speaker 04

I normally would have cut that whole section, but you know, here we are.

• 11:59Speaker 01

Exactly. Uh, well, Fairphone 60 to full review. Um, I don't know. David says I should. David has one. I do have one as well. Um, yeah, maybe. That's a good idea. Let me know if you think we should.

• 12:10David Imel?

I need, I need you to experience the switch.

• 12:14Speaker 01

True. We've been talking about this Fairphone 6 dumb phone switch for like three episodes now. Good to know.

• 12:20David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 12:21Speaker 01

  All right.

• 12:21Andrew Manganelli?

Uh, let's see. How old are you guys 300 episodes ago?

• 12:26Speaker 01

  So 2019?

• 12:27Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, 29.

• 12:29David Imel?

  I was six years younger.

• 12:31Speaker 01

  25? Yeah.

• 12:32Speaker 04

And I was tweeting all the time.

• 12:35Andrew Manganelli?

Actually, yeah. What were you, how old were you six years ago when you tweeted that joke?

• 12:40David Imel?

Six years ago, I was already doing Waveform for six years. I don't know what you're talking about.

• 12:43Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 12:45Speaker 04

  I was in 2019.

• 12:48Speaker 01

  You were a baby.

• 12:49Speaker 04

Yeah, that was, that was six years ago. So I would have been 21 years old. Never met Marques Brownlee.

• 12:56Speaker 01

  Wow. Innocent.

• 12:58Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 13:02Speaker 02

I think I was 27 six years ago.

• 13:05Speaker 01

  I was a BB. I was 24. Yeah.

• 13:09Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm old, Ellis.

• 13:10Speaker 01

  You know time?

• 13:11Andrew Manganelli?

He just learned how old Adam is. Wait, what?

• 13:13Speaker 01

Matt. Adam never gives away secrets about himself, so. I've known Adam for like 11 years and I still know nothing about him. And believe me, I ask.

• 13:28Speaker 02

I ask, what's behind the beard, Adam?

• 13:32Speaker 02

  A really baby face.

• 13:33Andrew Manganelli?

Saying 4,000 people watching right now?

• 13:36Speaker 01

Hey, that's what I said. Isn't that what I told you?

• 13:38Andrew Manganelli?

  You actually said like 4,300.

• 13:41Speaker 01

  Forty-three hundred and something.

• 13:43David Imel?

  I guessed 325, so I'm happy.

• 13:47Speaker 01

Alright, what else people asking? Let's see. Watch 8 Classic review. I did just get the Watch 8 Classic, so that's also a candidate for review. And I'm doing a video on a bunch of other things related to it, so that might be an option. Yeah.

• 13:59Andrew Manganelli?

I saw Mr. Mobile saying like, it is the most beautiful smartwatch he's like ever worn, and why are there pill-shaped buttons in like a circular watch? And there's so many software decisions that feel pretty rough about it.

• 14:12David Imel?

Yeah. I'm surprised that he said it's the most beautiful watch, because he's like always been in on the nautical version of the Garmin. The captain, the Mark captain.

• 14:20Andrew Manganelli?

It is a really nice looking watch. I think it's one of the nicest looking ones, if it didn't have two days of battery life.

• 14:26David Imel?

It's almost as nice looking as you.

• 14:27Speaker 01

Danny says, is Notion still king? We still use Notion.

• 14:31Speaker 02

  Define king.

• 14:33Speaker 01

Yeah, king meaning we, it's our king. We use it here. But, you know, there's lots of options that we could also use. We just, we're so built into Notion now that we're kind of just, it is our king. Yeah.

• 14:45David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 14:45Speaker 01

  Boring answer.

• 14:48Andrew Manganelli?

Best emoji? This is a good question.

• 14:51Speaker 01

  Objectively?

• 14:52David Imel?

  You guys already know.

• 14:53Andrew Manganelli?

Super fun times. What is it?

• 14:54Speaker 02

The HDR one that Ellis made, clearly.

• 14:56Speaker 04

No, I didn't make it. I found it.

• 14:58Andrew Manganelli?

Let's do best, like, not default, but you know, like, common emoji.

• 15:03Speaker 01

  Comment emoji?

• 15:03Speaker 04

No stickers, because my custom emoji stickers go crazy.

• 15:08Speaker 01

What is a comment emoji? I'm going with the common.

• 15:10Andrew Manganelli?

  Common.

• 15:11Speaker 01

  Melting face.

• 15:12David Imel?

Melting face is amazing. That's my top.

• 15:15Speaker 01

It's not even hot in here yet, but I'm gonna use that emoji soon.

• 15:17Andrew Manganelli?

I like upside down face. That just feels like a like, I don't, why is this happening?

• 15:23David Imel?

Yeah, I'm gonna look at my emoji keyboard and see what I've been using recently.

• 15:26Andrew Manganelli?

Do you have one, Ellis or Adam?

• 15:27David Imel?

  I'm a little scared.

• 15:28Speaker 02

Mine is definitely the salute. I use that one all the time.

• 15:31Speaker 04

Salute, melty face are both really good.

• 15:35Speaker 01

  I used the Joker recently.

• 15:37David Imel?

  Joker emoji?

• 15:38Speaker 01

  The Joker card.

• 15:40David Imel?

Oh, card. Oh, I didn't know that was a thing.

• 15:41Andrew Manganelli?

  You're saying that's best emoji?

• 15:43Speaker 01

  No.

• 15:44David Imel?

Oh, you know what's really good? The Easter Island head.

• 15:48Speaker 01

That's actually a good one. I love that one.

• 15:50Speaker 04

I, I, so this is not a common emoji, but I recently obtained a sticker that's the like looking down shame emoji while putting on the clown mask emoji.

• 16:00Speaker 01

Yeah, combo emojis are, are in with AI. Tiny Media says, why do you guys have different microphones? Well. We might have answered this before.

• 16:07Speaker 04

Yeah, Mark has, why do we have different microphones?

• 16:09Speaker 01

Yeah, so you might notice that I'm the only one with a different microphone. There's a sure SM7B over there. There's a sure SM7B over there. Sure. There's a sure SM7B over there. True. And then there's a Electra Voice RE27. It's because Mark has and I sound too similar, so if we had the same mic, you would never know that we were not the same person.

• 16:26Speaker 04

  Yeah, right?

• 16:26Andrew Manganelli?

  RE27.

• 16:27Speaker 04

No, no, it's an RE20 blank ND. It's a, it's the broadcast variant of the 27. It's a little bit brighter. It still has the same proximity effect, like caging, but.

• 16:36Andrew Manganelli?

I don't want to argue with Ellis, but I thought the RE27 was the broadcast version of the RE20.

• 16:42Speaker 04

Yeah, I don't know. You're so right. You know, I do have a degree in this, but like argue all you want, you know, whatever.

• 16:46Andrew Manganelli?

Wait, am I right or wrong?

• 16:47Speaker 04

  No.

• 16:47Speaker 01

It says RE27 ND on it.

• 16:50Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, it says RE27 on it.

• 16:52Speaker 01

But I got it just because of the brightness and how it sounds better with my voice. And then I just got used to it and now my voice sounds muddy. Wait, can I switch to your mic for a second?

• 17:00Speaker 04

No, Andrew, you are right. I'm totally wrong.

• 17:02Speaker 01

See how much muddier it sounds? Doesn't that sound dull and. So you gave us the muddy mics? No, just it's. I simply got used to it.

• 17:10Andrew Manganelli?

That's a pro boss move right there.

• 17:12Speaker 01

I think you guys sound great on it, but I, I wonder if you use this mic, if it would sound bad also because it's different.

• 17:18Speaker 04

You'll just never sound as great as he does.

• 17:19Speaker 01

It does sound different. This is just good for my voice. I've used your mic before when you're gone and I will use it after you're gone. Damn. And.

• 17:26Speaker 04

  Is that a threat?

• 17:28Speaker 01

You decide. It, it does sound weird on my voice for sure. Who's doing the camera cuts? Uh, Bumble, that would be Adam Bumble. He's doing the camera cuts live as we talk.

• 17:38Speaker 04

I'm trying my best, so give me some grace, please.

• 17:41Speaker 01

Which is, it's gone really well. La Critic, what headphones do y'all daily drive? Interesting question. Ooh.

• 17:47Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 17:48Speaker 01

  I have two answers, actually.

• 17:50Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, we'll start it.

• 17:52Speaker 01

Uh, Power Beats Pro for working out. And then, at the moment, Sony WH1000XM6 for traveling and flights and everything else.

• 18:00Speaker 04

Wait, Power Beats Pro, the OGs?

• 18:01Speaker 01

Oh, actually, I have a third answer.

• 18:02Speaker 04

  Power Beats Pro 2.

• 18:04Speaker 01

The current, sorry, the new Power Beats Pro 2 while I work out, the Sony WH1000XM6 when I'm traveling, but also while editing. What is on my desk? It's the open, uh, Sennheiser HD 650s on my desk. That's what I edit with. So those are the three headphones that I use.

• 18:19David Imel?

  That's a lot.

• 18:20Andrew Manganelli?

  There's a lot of headphones.

• 18:21David Imel?

Yeah. I've been using, uh, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds, because they have best noise cancellation by far.

• 18:32Speaker 01

  They do!

• 18:32David Imel?

  Sony's just, oh, for buds?

• 18:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 18:35David Imel?

  Sony's are also incredible.

• 18:36Speaker 01

  Their ANC is insane.

• 18:38David Imel?

  Fair enough.

• 18:38Speaker 01

Okay, Ellis, Ellis, tell me which ones are better.

• 18:41Speaker 04

  You already know, bro.

• 18:41Speaker 01

They're not. They're not even close.

• 18:43Speaker 04

  They are.

• 18:44Speaker 01

The AirPods are not even close.

• 18:45Speaker 04

  Mathematically.

• 18:46Speaker 01

They're really good. No, they're not.

• 18:47Speaker 04

  They are.

• 18:48Speaker 01

  They're not.

• 18:48Speaker 04

  They are.

• 18:49Speaker 01

  They're not.

• 18:51Speaker 04

  They are.

• 18:52Speaker 01

I don't have a degree in this, and they're not.

• 18:53Speaker 04

It's the kind of thing where like, maybe, maybe for your ears.

• 18:57Speaker 01

  Oh, my gosh.

• 18:58Speaker 04

They're like, the shape of your ear canals, they're better, but I, I promise.

• 19:01Speaker 01

  No.

• 19:02Speaker 04

  The AirPods Pro 2.

• 19:03Speaker 01

  They're horrible.

• 19:05David Imel?

  Whoa, whoa.

• 19:06Speaker 01

  Listen, they sound really good.

• 19:08David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 19:08Speaker 01

I think the AirPods Pro 2 are the best sounding headphones I have.

• 19:11David Imel?

  Uh huh.

• 19:12Speaker 01

But the noise cancellation is not even close to the best.

• 19:14David Imel?

You might have a bad fit.

• 19:16Speaker 04

Yeah, then you have a bad fit.

• 19:17Speaker 01

  They are really, really good.

• 19:19David Imel?

Why the Lightning ones? Are they different?

• 19:20Speaker 04

No, no, you're using the wrong ear tips, that means.

• 19:23David Imel?

Yeah, wait, are you talking about the wireless noise-canceling silicon-tip AirPods?

• 19:28Speaker 04

The ones widely regarded as best in class.

• 19:30David Imel?

Yeah, they're, but they're not as good noise cancellation.

• 19:32Speaker 01

  They are, they're not.

• 19:34Speaker 04

  They're, they're.

• 19:35David Imel?

I'm gonna look this up right now.

• 19:36Speaker 01

You should use, you should mess with the tip size, just to see if it gives you.

• 19:39David Imel?

  There's different tips?

• 19:40Speaker 04

  Yes, there's four.

• 19:41Speaker 01

They come with a bunch of tips, and you probably just kept the medium ones that are on it or whatever.

• 19:45David Imel?

Probably has all my really ear wax in it, too.

• 19:48Speaker 01

  Yeah, anyway.

• 19:49Andrew Manganelli?

I use the Beats Fit Pro for working out.

• 19:51Speaker 01

  Oh, right.

• 19:51Andrew Manganelli?

And the Sonos Ace for mowing the lawn.

• 19:53Speaker 01

  Sonos Ace?

• 19:54Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. I do like them. They're comfy.

• 19:56Speaker 01

  They are.

• 19:57David Imel?

  For mowing the lawn?

• 19:58Andrew Manganelli?

For mowing the lawn and flying.

• 20:01Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, it's the over ear.

• 20:03David Imel?

  What's the difference?

• 20:04Speaker 01

Over ear, needed to be quieter.

• 20:06David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 20:06Speaker 01

  Lots of white noise.

• 20:07David Imel?

  Noise cancelling, yeah.

• 20:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 20:08Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 20:09David Imel?

All right, this is from Sound Guys, Adam's old employer, okay? Oh, snap.

• 20:14Speaker 01

  They're in the chat?

• 20:15David Imel?

  No.

• 20:15Speaker 01

  You can't have him.

• 20:16David Imel?

Oh, oh. It's like a comparison article between the two. And they use a lot of scientific data that Adam used to spend a lot of hours. Too many hours.

• 20:26Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 20:28Speaker 01

  Oh, someone said.

• 20:29David Imel?

  Is that good?

• 20:31Speaker 01

Someone just, well, this isn't even a question. Suresh Rajan said, haven't watched Jurassic Park, but have watched Jurassic World. Come on, Marquez. And I'm gonna watch the new one. I'm gonna watch the new one, too. The new Jurassic World coming out.

• 20:44Andrew Manganelli?

  And skip the first one?

• 20:45Speaker 01

I'll watch it eventually. I'll watch it eventually. It's so easy to watch it that I don't feel rushed.

• 20:49David Imel?

  You mean the original one?

• 20:50Speaker 01

Yeah. I've seen parts of it.

• 20:52David Imel?

  It's probably streaming on Hulu.

• 20:54Speaker 01

  Tubi.

• 20:56Andrew Manganelli?

I unironically used Tubi the other day.

• 20:58Speaker 01

  Oh, Tubi's real?

• 20:59Andrew Manganelli?

  Not even kidding. It's real.

• 20:59Speaker 01

Oh, I thought I made it up.

• 21:00Andrew Manganelli?

  Tubi is still real.

• 21:01Speaker 01

I was trying to make one up in my head.

• 21:03David Imel?

Is it on Tubi or not Tubi?

• 21:06Andrew Manganelli?

  They should only do Shakespeare.

• 21:12Andrew Manganelli?

I have someone asking what the best budget keyboard is right now, and my.

• 21:16David Imel?

  That's all you.

• 21:16Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's a lot, there's, there's plenty out on Amazon, like HippoTech will tell you, but the Hippie June R1, I think, or just the Hippie June. You just have to build it and buy all the switches and everything, but it's the most unique, cheapest keyboard, and out of all the nice ones that I have, it's the one I still use every day. So that's my, uh, my favorite.

• 21:38David Imel?

Sorry, how much was that one? Did you mention it already?

• 21:40Andrew Manganelli?

I don't, it probably when you build everything, if you do a very budget-focused, like 200 bucks.

• 21:46David Imel?

  Dang.

• 21:47Andrew Manganelli?

That's unfortunately budget in this world.

• 21:52Andrew Manganelli?

There's some good cheaper ones out there.

• 21:53David Imel?

  Magic keyboard.

• 21:54Speaker 02

That's what I was gonna say. I was definitely gonna be like, if you're on a budget, just.

• 21:57David Imel?

Mariah says, do not watch the new Jurassic Park. It sucks.

• 22:01Speaker 01

She, oh, she saw it already?

• 22:02David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 22:03Speaker 01

  And it sucks?

• 22:04David Imel?

  Did you see?

• 22:04Speaker 01

That sounds like it's right on my alley.

• 22:05David Imel?

I wonder if she saw it in 4DX, though. Cause, yeah, Jurassic World?

• 22:09Speaker 02

No, I think she wanted to watch the F1 movie in 4DX.

• 22:11Speaker 01

I'll be honest, I'll be honest. I don't think I can possibly dislike a movie with good dinosaur graphics.

• 22:18David Imel?

  With good dinosaur graphics?

• 22:19Speaker 01

I think if the CG is really good and the dinosaurs are very realistic, I'll enjoy it no matter what.

• 22:23David Imel?

Why don't we just bring them back?

• 22:26Speaker 01

Well, that's like a whole plot.

• 22:27David Imel?

We already brought the wolves back, the dire wolves.

• 22:30Speaker 01

That was like a whole bad thing that happened in the movie.

• 22:34Speaker 01

  Have you seen the movie?

• 22:35David Imel?

Yeah, but like, I don't know.

• 22:36Speaker 01

  It went pretty poorly.

• 22:37David Imel?

We have like, tanks and stuff.

• 22:39Speaker 01

  That's true.

• 22:39David Imel?

I don't think we should be that worried about dinosaurs.

• 22:41Speaker 02

Correction, Mariah just messaged me personally and said she did see it in 4D, so.

• 22:48David Imel?

I would not think any of them.

• 22:50Andrew Manganelli?

I think she's driving home from vacation right now.

• 22:53Speaker 01

Wait, someone just asked, what about the new Sony phone review? Is there a new Sony phone that I should know about? That's actually?

• 22:58Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, it just came out and will actually come to market in seven months.

• 23:01Speaker 01

Yeah, several, several follow-up questions to that. One, what is it and is it actually out or is it not coming out for six months? And two, is it actually good? Do you care about my opinion or are you actually just trolling? You might be trolling.

• 23:11David Imel?

  Damn.

• 23:13Speaker 01

  Woo.

• 23:14David Imel?

  Xperia 17?

• 23:16Speaker 02

I would love to do like an actual Sony review, but again, it's just like, they announce it and then it comes out like seven months later. And it's just kind of confusing.

• 23:24Speaker 01

I give them a shot every time. Every time I see them in my inbox, I go, oh, a new Sony phone. And then like literally four out of the last five times I've done a Sony flagship phone review, it just, it starts off with some promise and they have some interesting things and then it goes downhill of like, wait, it's how expensive? And they have what as their primary features? And it just kind of falls apart? So I'm rooting for them, but they haven't given me much hope lately.

• 23:46Andrew Manganelli?

Somebody asked, how did you come up with the name Waveform? Do you remember this?

• 23:50David Imel?

  Ooh.

• 23:51Speaker 01

  The name?

• 23:52Speaker 02

I spoke to you guys in a dream.

• 23:55Speaker 01

Yeah, okay, so we, yeah, do you remember exactly?

• 23:58Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, we were thinking of a lot of things that were audio puns in some way.

• 24:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:02Andrew Manganelli?

And we actually decided with WVFRM because it kind of sounds like a radio station. And also, if we, at that point, WVFRM, MKBHD fit on top of each other.

• 24:13Speaker 01

  Nice acronym.

• 24:14Andrew Manganelli?

As the same amount of letters. Then we started with Studio 71 and they were like, podcast searching is terrible. If you don't, if you're saying waveform out loud, you should name it waveform spelled out loud. So that's why you might see WVFRM sometimes and waveform most of the time because podcast discoverability is terrible.

• 24:32David Imel?

  Live from WVFRM Chicago.

• 24:34Andrew Manganelli?

  It kind of sounds cool.

• 24:36David Imel?

  65 degrees and sunny.

• 24:37Speaker 02

Also, we did that mistake with our channels when we were making the video channels. It's like the waveform podcasts and then the WVFRM clips. And it haunts me every day.

• 24:47Speaker 01

Alex the Dev, still using Arc?

• 24:50David Imel?

I have a lot to say about this.

• 24:52Speaker 01

  Are you still using Arc?

• 24:54Speaker 02

I am not. I am using a mixture of Chrome and Zen browser now.

• 24:58Speaker 01

A mixture, interesting. And are you?

• 24:59Andrew Manganelli?

  I never used them.

• 25:00Speaker 01

You never used them. Are you still using Arc?

• 25:03David Imel?

  That's a complicated question.

• 25:04Speaker 01

Okay, I am full time still using Arc.

• 25:07David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 25:07Speaker 01

  That's my answer.

• 25:08David Imel?

I am primarily still using Arc. I have been testing all of these new browsers that are coming out because there's like all these new.

• 25:14Speaker 01

A gazillion of them. I want to know how you choose because like I just, I was on, I, this is maybe spoiling something, but I'm going to do it anyway. I was just hanging out with someone, I won't say who, who has a lot of cars. And I was like, how do you choose which car to drive? And I have the same question about you. You have multiple browsers. Why Zen versus Chrome? Like why, what makes you open a certain browser versus the other one?

• 25:35Speaker 02

It's the same reason I told you about my cars when we were hanging out.

• 25:37Speaker 01

Yeah. So you just wake up feeling, I feel like Zen today.

• 25:42Speaker 02

Yeah, no, so the way I split it up is work I use in Chrome because I need all that to work.

• 25:47Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 25:47Speaker 02

And then when I'm doing personal things, I'll use Zen browser.

• 25:52David Imel?

Okay, so it's kind of location based too, sort of?

• 25:55Speaker 02

I mean, when I'm at work, I have one browser open, like personal, I'll just have minimized. So if I ever need to like search something or like email someone, but then work in Chrome, I have working.

• 26:06David Imel?

I'm sort of just like keeping tabs on all of them because I'm trying to see if this AI assistant future that everyone keeps promising actually matters at all, or if it's just going to be like a metaverse kind of fad. So I got access to Comet, which is the new perplexity browser.

• 26:21Speaker 02

Oh, how do you like it?

• 26:22David Imel?

Should we care? It is just Dia. It's not, they're like exactly the same.

• 26:29Speaker 02

But is the search better? That's what I want to know.

• 26:31David Imel?

Well, it's not really search. It's like, it just talks to you. I don't know. It's, I don't. I might be able to be convinced in the future, but right now it feels like if I'm just talking to my browser, I could just, it would be better if I. You just had a tab with GPT open or something? No, just like. Or Gemini? Rather, what perplexity wants you to do with Comet is they want you to just like, it basically has a Google search tab in the center of the page. And instead of actually going to websites, like they do have an assistant like Dia does on the side when you're actually on webpages. But their preferred way of interacting with the browser is just to talk to Comet. And it will, it'll tell you answers with like little mini sources, but they prefer that you like, don't even go to webpages. It's sort of the thing.

• 27:16Speaker 02

Is all AI browsers just like the trust me, bro? Just like, no, no, no, don't look, stay here. Everything I'm saying is right.

• 27:23David Imel?

The people who are like really into it seem to be really into it, but I don't really get it yet. And maybe I will at some point and maybe I'm just don't, you know, but I don't know. I, but besides that, I find myself on Arc all the time because I keep trying to like, the best feature of Arc, which is so stupid that it's so useful, is just being able to hide the sidebar and then swipe your mouse over and it pops out. That's like, that's all I want. It's all I want.

• 27:50Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 27:50David Imel?

Add it to Dia, please. Also pin tabs and stuff like that. And Dia still doesn't have that, so.

• 27:55Speaker 04

Can I address a question real quick?

• 27:56David Imel?

  Sure.

• 27:57Speaker 04

Fernando Loza says, Ellis, what is your battery percentage? So I took my phone off the charger at about 8 a.m. this morning, so that's like three and a half hours ago.

• 28:08Speaker 01

  60%.

• 28:09Speaker 04

Anyone want to take a guess? 60%?

• 28:11Andrew Manganelli?

  42.

• 28:12Speaker 05

  47.

• 28:12Speaker 04

  47, 42.

• 28:13David Imel?

  I was gonna say 48.

• 28:14Speaker 04

  48. Adam wins. I am at 43% battery life right now.

• 28:19David Imel?

I know my boy. Is that still a 12 mini or is that 13 mini?

• 28:22Speaker 04

It is a 12 mini. And to all the people asking what phone I'm gonna get next, I'm holding out till September 2027 to hopefully go straight from 12 mini to folding iPhone. Well, something tells me this phone is going to explode before then.

• 28:38Speaker 01

Ooh, Anmol Batia says iOS 26 thoughts so far. I've been testing it. Stay tuned.

• 28:46Speaker 04

I... Okay, wait. If this beta had come out in the winter, David, you would feel completely differently. Because you would have a hand warmer wherever you go.

• 28:56David Imel?

That's true. Dude, the amount of bugs that I've seen recently, oh my god. Do you have the YouTube bug or any video playback bug? It's in YouTube and also Instagram reels and stuff where it like, you click on it and then the screen goes black, but the audio still plays? And you have to like back out and go back in multiple times.

• 29:12Speaker 01

  A few times, yeah.

• 29:13David Imel?

This morning, my alarm went off, made no sound. It was lighting up and doing the thing, no sound.

• 29:20Speaker 01

I have a couple of specific bugs. One of them is the 8Sleep app. When the bed thing is waking me up and I open the 8Sleep app to dismiss it, that is when it crashes. So I can open the 8Sleep app any other time and it's fine.

• 29:33Speaker 05

  Oh, stop this.

• 29:34Speaker 01

But I have to snooze it by hitting the sensor on the bed and then the 8Sleep app will open without crashing. It's very strange. The other one is my keyboard no longer shows the letters above them when I'm typing, which is annoying.

• 29:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:48David Imel?

Like when you type it and it goes up?

• 29:51Speaker 01

Yeah, when the little letter shows up above...

• 29:53David Imel?

  Your finger.

• 29:55Speaker 01

  They don't show up.

• 29:57David Imel?

  Does that matter?

• 29:58Speaker 01

Yeah, it's pretty useful when they show up.

• 29:59Speaker 02

Marques, so you're on the beta on your iPhone?

• 30:02Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 30:03Speaker 02

Are you also on the beta on your Android phone?

• 30:05Speaker 01

Uh, on my Pixel, I have the latest Android 16 beta.

• 30:08Speaker 02

And is that the one you're dailying?

• 30:09Speaker 01

  No.

• 30:10Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 30:10Speaker 01

That was also a little too buggy to daily.

• 30:12Speaker 02

Having two daily drivers, both in the development beta is crazy.

• 30:16Speaker 01

I can't, yeah, I can't daily beta stuff. And even with macOS, because I use Final Cut, I don't put the latest OS on my computer until the first .1 update, because Final Cut will absolutely have too many bugs to use until they update it.

• 30:29Speaker 02

Even when it's not on like a development beta, Final Cut is like hit or miss.

• 30:33Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:33Speaker 02

  You never know.

• 30:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:34David Imel?

Uh, someone said, how much AI do you use in your daily life? Um, I like

• 30:39Speaker 01

  Outside of work?

• 30:40David Imel?

Gemini for like fun. I don't really trust it because it still kind of lies a lot. So I use like Gemini Live. Gemini Live can be helpful. And even if it's wrong, it leads me in the right direction. So, you know, it's kind of fun to like show it things, but sometimes it's useless. Uh, that's pretty much what I do. And I don't, I don't use it that frequently either. It's like every few days.

• 31:03Speaker 01

Yeah, I use Gemini probably once or twice a day.

• 31:06David Imel?

  Okay.

• 31:06Andrew Manganelli?

I don't use it at all.

• 31:07David Imel?

  No AI at all?

• 31:08Andrew Manganelli?

Like necessarily, I just haven't incorporated or found one that I specifically like, so I don't pay for any of them. And therefore, I don't. The most AI I see during a day is scrolling past the Google AI overview, so I can look at actual links and figure out the real answer.

• 31:23Speaker 01

Fair enough. Also, Big Blue asks, Andrew, are you still using Google Tasks?

• 31:28Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, yeah.

• 31:28Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 31:29Andrew Manganelli?

  Wait, can I see?

• 31:30Speaker 02

  He's deep in. Whoa.

• 31:31Andrew Manganelli?

Can I have a question? Because I can now see how many tasks I've completed, you are.

• 31:35David Imel?

  I don't like that feature.

• 31:36Andrew Manganelli?

  You don't?

• 31:37David Imel?

  I don't really understand.

• 31:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Count?

• 31:39David Imel?

  I also don't like it.

• 31:40Andrew Manganelli?

You don't like how many you've completed?

• 31:42David Imel?

Yeah, it's just always there. It's persistent forever.

• 31:44Andrew Manganelli?

It's just there at the bottom.

• 31:45David Imel?

I've been using this app for 12 years and

• 31:46Andrew Manganelli?

I guess I'm always using it in the widget, so I don't always see it unless I'm in it. But does that show? So that doesn't show rea- oh, no, it does show reoccurring ones, right? I'm almost at 500 completed tasks.

• 32:00David Imel?

Whoa. Um, someone says, who is the, someone says, who is the tallest in the room? And I have to, okay, look, I'm not insecure, first off.

• 32:09Speaker 01

  This is my

• 32:09David Imel?

  I'm not insecure, but

• 32:12Speaker 04

Everyone in this room is taller than me, and I'm like, slightly taller than average height. I'm 5'10 1/2, and the US average male height is 5'9.

• 32:21Speaker 01

  That's a pretty tall room.

• 32:22Speaker 04

  These men are too tall!

• 32:23Speaker 01

  We've got a tall room.

• 32:24Speaker 04

  It's annoying.

• 32:25Speaker 01

  I've completed 15,767 tasks since I started.

• 32:29Speaker 04

  Jeez.

• 32:30Speaker 01

  I'm not insecure.

• 32:30Speaker 04

  Allegedly.

• 32:32Andrew Manganelli?

So I don't thi- I think Marquez is the tallest in the room right now. Is he taller than me?

• 32:35Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 32:36Speaker 04

  No, no, yeah, I think-

• 32:37Speaker 01

  Pretty close.

• 32:38Speaker 04

Because Andrew, I think you and I are like about the same height.

• 32:40Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, Marquez probably has like an inch on me, but Alex probably has an inch on Marquez.

• 32:44Speaker 01

Alex is the tallest one in the studio.

• 32:45Speaker 04

I think it's really funny because I, like, as a universal reaction to meeting Marquez, they're like, "He's so much taller than-"

• 32:53Speaker 01

That is the number one most common comment that I get in real life is, "You're taller than I expected."

• 33:02Andrew Manganelli?

When we go to CES, I used to be able to like, "Find you easily" because I could see over the majority of the floor and just find Marquez, but at the same time, that means everybody always sees where Marquez is on the floor.

• 33:13Speaker 01

  This is true.

• 33:14Speaker 04

Someone told me once after meeting me and being like, "Wow, you're a lot taller than I thought." They were like, "You know, on the podcast, you give really short guy energy."

• 33:23Speaker 01

Interesting. And what does that mean?

• 33:25Speaker 04

  Yeah, "Hey buddy, watch it."

• 33:28Speaker 01

Wow, as a true said, I've completed 29,989 tasks on Todoist. That's serious.

• 33:33Speaker 04

Okay, wait, I have a question about this now that we're down to-

• 33:36Speaker 01

Isn't one of your tasks "Drive to work every day"? No, it's a calendar event. It's a calendar event. Totally different.

• 33:43Speaker 04

Okay, my question is, you guys don't clear that out? You just leave it there?

• 33:47Andrew Manganelli?

  What?

• 33:47Speaker 04

Every time I complete a task, I hate seeing it on the bottom.

• 33:51Speaker 01

  No, yeah, it disappears.

• 33:51Speaker 04

I always go in and like, remove it.

• 33:53Speaker 01

I had to go into the settings to look at my account to see how many I'd completed.

• 33:57Speaker 04

Oh, okay, so it keeps them forever?

• 33:59Speaker 01

Uh, yeah, it's got this sort of organization. It shows you which day of the week you're most productive and like how many times you-

• 34:04Speaker 04

  Oh, Todoist, okay.

• 34:05Speaker 01

  This is Tic-Tic for me.

• 34:06Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, Tic-Tic, sorry.

• 34:07Speaker 04

Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. I was thinking Google Tasks. I was like, "Where is that?"

• 34:10Speaker 01

Oh, no, no, no, no. Tasks is a, is a sort of baseline functionality. Support for the show comes from Framer. • 36:28Speaker 01

  Uh, okay.

• 36:29Andrew Manganelli?

  Somebody said, "Thoughts on Elmo."

• 36:32Speaker 01

Did you see what happened to Elmo yesterday?

• 36:33Andrew Manganelli?

Wait, what? You can't say that!

• 36:36Speaker 01

You should... Elmo got hacked yesterday.

• 36:39Andrew Manganelli?

  He got hacked.

• 36:39Speaker 01

It's probably not the best day.

• 36:42Andrew Manganelli?

He said some stuff. That's not what I thought. I was just gonna say goat.

• 36:46Speaker 01

I love Elmo, but yeah, he gives me his Twitter guy.

• 36:48Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, I did not see that. Yeah, I was like...

• 36:51Speaker 01

F1 movie was great. Okay, people... Oh, the studio. The studio is saying F1 movie was great. Have other people seen the F1 movie?

• 36:58Andrew Manganelli?

No. No. My friend texted me on Sunday of Silverstone and said, "Did you see F1?" And I was like, "Yeah, that was such a sick race, one of the best ones I've seen." He's like, "No, the movie." And I was like, "I don't want to talk about that right now."

• 37:09Speaker 01

  Dang.

• 37:10Andrew Manganelli?

  I've not seen it yet.

• 37:11Speaker 01

  I may watch it soon.

• 37:12Speaker 04

Gizmo Sauce wants to know, "What's everyone's favorite cheese?"

• 37:15Andrew Manganelli?

I knew Ellis was gonna find this question.

• 37:17Speaker 04

So for those that don't know, there's been many a cheese-related argument in the studio about, like, blue cheese's efficacy, about whether stinky cheese is good, period, about whether certain cheeses belong on burgers. This is like a pretty common lunchtime argument for us.

• 37:32Andrew Manganelli?

I think the last one was, "What is your Mount Rushmore of cheese?"

• 37:34Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 37:35Andrew Manganelli?

  That was a long conversation.

• 37:37Speaker 01

  Mount Rushmore.

• 37:39David Imel?

  That's four, right?

• 37:40Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 37:40Speaker 04

No, wait. The Mount Rushmore conversation was about nuts.

• 37:43Andrew Manganelli?

  No, it was about cheese.

• 37:44Speaker 04

  Was it?

• 37:44Speaker 01

  Pistachios. Pine nuts up there.

• 37:47Speaker 04

Pine nuts are definitely up there.

• 37:48Speaker 01

  Pine nuts on pizza.

• 37:49Andrew Manganelli?

  Crazy take.

• 37:49Speaker 01

  What?

• 37:50Andrew Manganelli?

  Dude.

• 37:51Speaker 04

  Whoa.

• 37:51Speaker 01

  Hear me out.

• 37:52Speaker 04

Wait, Marquez, you don't like pine nuts?

• 37:53Speaker 01

  Olive oil, pine nuts, pizza.

• 37:55Speaker 04

Hey, everybody, this guy doesn't like pesto.

• 37:58Speaker 01

Yeah, pesto too. Pesto with pine nuts is like... How about... Well, I was gonna do cheese.

• 38:04Andrew Manganelli?

Cheese. Are you doing Rushmore or just favorite cheese?

• 38:06Speaker 01

  I guess...

• 38:07Andrew Manganelli?

  Rushmore's a lot.

• 38:08Speaker 01

  Rushmore's a lot of thinking.

• 38:09Speaker 04

Rushmore, and you have to compare each cheese to one of the presidents.

• 38:13Speaker 01

I think I'm going just basic mozzarella is... It has to be on your Mount Rushmore. If it's not, I don't know what your list is.

• 38:21Speaker 04

  Low moisture or high moisture?

• 38:22Speaker 01

High moisture. High as hell. Throw it on a sandwich. It's versatile. You can take it down, put it on a, you know, chicken parm or whatever. I like just mozzarella as a solid... But parm is Parmesan. Yeah, but you put mozzarella on it too. It is several types of cheese. Maybe I'm a bit weird with the mozzarella and Parmesan and...

• 38:39Andrew Manganelli?

No, that's what a chicken parm is. You're right.

• 38:40Speaker 01

Yeah, if they can do four cheese mixes. Oh, pepper jack. Wow, great point. Okay, I'm changing my mind. I love pepper jack. Pepper jack and mozzarella are a 1A and 1B for me. We add on Swiss. That's fine. Okay. It's not necessarily...

• 38:53Andrew Manganelli?

It's a good mix of cheese.

• 38:54Speaker 01

That's a fair take. I just like that it has holes.

• 38:57Andrew Manganelli?

I like provolone. I want to just get past.

• 39:00Speaker 01

  Provolone is fire.

• 39:01Andrew Manganelli?

Provolone, I think, is my top, but it's really hard to not put American in. Everyone's gonna hate on American, but the primo melty cheese.

• 39:09Speaker 04

Yeah, the primo melty cheese. Also, the American variants, like Cooper Sharp.

• 39:12Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 39:13Speaker 04

  That's a man's cheese right there.

• 39:14Speaker 01

  Someone said I'm not.

• 39:15Speaker 04

Marquez, if you like mozzarella on your Parmi, you know, pasta bake stuff, let me recommend Fontina for you.

• 39:23Speaker 01

  Oh, I've had that.

• 39:23Speaker 04

I could see you really, really enjoying a big slice of Fontina.

• 39:26Andrew Manganelli?

He loves feta and it's a pretty cool name.

• 39:28Speaker 01

No, I do not like crumbly cheeses at all.

• 39:31David Imel?

Yeah, it's because he hates the feta verse, that's why.

• 39:33Andrew Manganelli?

  That is.

• 39:33Speaker 01

That's tough for me because the feta verse is pretty cool, but feta is bad. Uh, blue cheese is trash also.

• 39:38David Imel?

What is, what is feta rated for you?

• 39:40Speaker 01

Brie can just, I just have, if it never existed, I'd be totally fine.

• 39:44David Imel?

  What's your feta rating?

• 39:45Speaker 01

  Feta?

• 39:46David Imel?

  Yeah, your feta rating.

• 39:48Speaker 01

Am I feterating? You're making a weird pun right now. I don't know what's happening.

• 39:51David Imel?

But I want to know where it is on your list, though.

• 39:53Speaker 01

  Feta's like.

• 39:54David Imel?

  Your feta rating.

• 39:57David Imel?

  Oh, brother.

• 39:59Speaker 01

  This guy stinks.

• 40:01Andrew Manganelli?

Someone said favorite podcast episode, but I don't know if they mean out of ours or like other podcasts. Out of ours.

• 40:07Speaker 04

Or I saw someone else ask her.

• 40:09David Imel?

I think Sacred History, or no, uh, I Can episode. But that's because Ellis and Adam and I got to drive to Virginia and stay in a small hotel.

• 40:16Speaker 04

  Oh, my God.

• 40:17Speaker 01

Oh, wow. Someone just said, my name is Marquez, so I should like queso. Duh.

• 40:21Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 40:22Speaker 04

  Nice.

• 40:22Andrew Manganelli?

Also, Claire just texted me and said, I'd listen to this podcast more consistently if there was cheese conversations every week.

• 40:28David Imel?

I feel like we have them fairly frequently.

• 40:30Speaker 04

My favorite, she's my favorite podcast episode was whichever one had the infamous egg argument in it.

• 40:37Speaker 01

  What the?

• 40:38Andrew Manganelli?

  It's a frittata.

• 40:39David Imel?

That was, I was, I was missing that week and I watched that episode and I was like, what is going on?

• 40:47Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 40:48Speaker 01

Sometimes we just go off the rest a little bit. It's fine.

• 40:51Speaker 04

Marquez, have you had a frittata since engaging in that argument?

• 40:54Speaker 01

Uh, I don't think so. No.

• 40:56Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 40:57David Imel?

Someone asked if I've tried the new Telegram to-do list feature, which I did not know existed. I'm very excited about.

• 41:03Speaker 01

  Telegram.

• 41:04David Imel?

I also have to tell you, um, Becca Versace, friend of the show, uh, she had a problematic fave PowerPoint presentation party at her apartment a few weeks ago. And my presentation was Telegram.

• 41:15Speaker 01

  Hmm, problematic fave.

• 41:16David Imel?

  Problematic fave.

• 41:17Speaker 04

  I'm not surprised.

• 41:18David Imel?

The thing you love even though it's kind of problematic.

• 41:20Speaker 01

It gets used in problematic ways.

• 41:22Speaker 04

My, my new neighbor works at Signal and when they told me like. Cocot, it's, I pronounced it wrong on that episode, it's Cocot. But when my new neighbor was like, oh yeah, I work at Signal, I had to pause for a sec and I just asked them, I was like,

• 41:35Speaker 04

that, is that, is that the evil one?

• 41:39Speaker 04

I mean, they do have Houthi war plans, so.

• 41:43Speaker 01

Okay, Chengdu says Marquez's favorite EV.

• 41:48Speaker 01

I might also have to go Mount Rushmore because there's no top, top, like favorite I've ever driven, I think, is the Lucid Air Sapphire. Just overall capability, range, performance, suspension.

• 42:00Speaker 04

It's like a dining room built into a missile.

• 42:02Speaker 01

It's incredible. It's a luxury experience on top of a missile. Yeah, it's awesome. But, you know, if you need a truck, then I'm thinking Rivian R1T, but if you need a sports car, there's not that many EV, I mean, I like Fire.

• 42:19Speaker 04

  What do you know?

• 42:19Speaker 01

  Fire.

• 42:20Speaker 04

  The Porsche Taycan.

• 42:21Speaker 01

Taycan, sick. I still haven't gotten to drive the Taycan Turbo GT, which Miles got to review. I'm very curious about that, but I think it's probably awesome. And then, what was the other one? You just mentioned a different one.

• 42:34Speaker 04

  Oh, Fisker Ocean.

• 42:36Speaker 01

No. Different EV, I guess I'll, whatever.

• 42:39David Imel?

Which I see a lot of.

• 42:40Speaker 04

  Oh, the canoe.

• 42:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Started seeing even more.

• 42:44Speaker 01

Yeah, car, sedan, truck. Yeah, I think that's.

• 42:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Didn't you like the EV6 a lot?

• 42:49Speaker 01

I like the EV6 GT, it's not like viable. I mean, you can, it's fine. It has trash range, but it is really fun. Yeah.

• 42:58David Imel?

Someone asked my favorite cameras or dream cameras. I personally, right now, think still, for now, that the X106 is the best camera, best digital camera ever made.

• 43:11Speaker 01

  Best digital camera ever made.

• 43:13Speaker 04

  David.

• 43:14Speaker 01

  I can't help but think.

• 43:15Speaker 04

David, it has a fixed lens.

• 43:17Speaker 01

Bit of a, a hot take.

• 43:18David Imel?

  I love it.

• 43:19Speaker 04

  You're crazy.

• 43:20Andrew Manganelli?

Have you ever used a T3I?

• 43:22Speaker 01

Wait, okay, David, let me dig into this a little bit. Objectively the best or your favorite ever? Because there's a difference. Yes. Okay. Because objectively, there are cameras that are better.

• 43:36Andrew Manganelli?

Isn't this your joke, David? Objectively, it's the Hasselblad.

• 43:40Speaker 01

Let's just take the Hasselblad X2B, for example. Interchangeable lenses, larger sensor, more megapixels, more detail, better color.

• 43:48David Imel?

  Faster burst mode.

• 43:50Speaker 01

  Sorry. Interesting.

• 43:50David Imel?

I don't know, the X100R 6, I've been thinking about this a lot, because I did a review of the X100R 6 after I had the X100V for four years. And the 6 is like, it has a few minor upgrades. And at first, I was like, yeah, you know? But now I'm like, huh, yeah, I know. It's like, it is like so much, but the IBIS is really good, the 40-megapixel sensor, it's BSI now. Everything about it, it's freaking amazing.

• 44:13Speaker 01

Do you ever wish it was interchangeable lenses?

• 44:14David Imel?

  No.

• 44:15Speaker 01

Do you ever wish, oh, I could take an ultra wide?

• 44:17David Imel?

Well, I have, I have two lens adapters for it. So Fuji makes these adapters that turns it into a 28mm and a 50mm.

• 44:26Speaker 01

  28 and 50?

• 44:26David Imel?

And it's 40-megapixel sensor, so you can also crop in.

• 44:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:30David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 44:30Speaker 01

  Hmm, yeah.

• 44:31David Imel?

  It's-

• 44:32Speaker 01

But if you had a 70 to 200 on there, bang.

• 44:34David Imel?

Then it would be this big.

• 44:36Speaker 01

Yeah, fair. Well, you know what they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.

• 44:38David Imel?

  No, it's not!

• 44:40Speaker 01

  iPhone 12 mini.

• 44:42Speaker 04

This is embarrassing, but over the 4th of July break, I dailied a Sony A7 for the first time. After being a longtime Sony camera hater.

• 44:52Speaker 01

A7, yeah, they're good. The A7-1 is pretty legendary.

• 44:55Speaker 04

That camera, I had a A7R Mark III and, bro.

• 44:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 45:00Speaker 04

The, I know it's like, there's faster burst modes now. But on the first day, I took 15GB of stills, because I just, I was just only like-

• 45:09David Imel?

15 gigs? Yeah, I think the best, uh, best film camera is the Fuji TX1. Okay, we're done.

• 45:15Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 45:16Speaker 04

  We don't have to be-

• 45:16Andrew Manganelli?

  Alright, favorite Taco Bell item?

• 45:18David Imel?

  Oooh! I mean-

• 45:21Speaker 01

  Cheesy cheese and potatoes.

• 45:22David Imel?

  Ooh.

• 45:23Andrew Manganelli?

  Good choice.

• 45:23Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 45:24Andrew Manganelli?

Have you done the spicy potato soft taco?

• 45:26Speaker 01

  No.

• 45:27David Imel?

  Is that new?

• 45:28Andrew Manganelli?

No, it's been around forever, it's just like a cheap thing that nobody sees.

• 45:31David Imel?

For me, Taco Bell is like, the first four generations of Pokémon, you know?

• 45:37Andrew Manganelli?

  Perfect.

• 45:37David Imel?

Like, I don't know anything after that, because that's when I stopped. Taco Bell, the last time I ordered Taco Bell really, was like 15 years ago. So I don't know any of the new-

• 45:48Andrew Manganelli?

What'd you like 15 years ago?

• 45:49David Imel?

I mean, the, the circular thing was amazing.

• 45:52Andrew Manganelli?

  The Mexico pizza?

• 45:54David Imel?

Crunchwrap supreme, I think is supreme. But I also used to love the seven-layer burrito.

• 45:59Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 45:59David Imel?

Because I was vegetarian for like 10 years.

• 46:01Andrew Manganelli?

  Do you have one, Ellis?

• 46:03Speaker 04

Of course, of course I have one. I, I know there's so many good wild things on the menu, you know what I mean? But the thing that 100% of the time just like puts a smile on my face is the, I forget, do they call it supreme or deluxe?

• 46:17Andrew Manganelli?

  Supreme.

• 46:17Speaker 04

The Doritos Locos Taco Supreme with the sour cream.

• 46:21Andrew Manganelli?

No, do, but do a cheesy gordita crunch with Doritos Locos Taco.

• 46:25David Imel?

  They're speaking another language.

• 46:26Speaker 04

You can do that? You can make the inside of the gordita Dorito shell? Then that, then that is my favorite.

• 46:34Andrew Manganelli?

I can't pick. I love all my children the same. But actually, it's okay.

• 46:39David Imel?

I'm gonna do a couple of rapid fire ones.

• 46:40Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay, yeah.

• 46:41David Imel?

Uh, Marquez, when is the Samsung Unpacked review upload already happened? Check the channel. Adam, I love your tattoos. Can you show them?

• 46:50David Imel?

I mean, I, I guess. This is gonna be very weird for audio listeners.

• 46:53Speaker 04

I want to tell a story about Adam's tattoos.

• 46:55David Imel?

  Okay.

• 46:57Speaker 04

Because, so when I moved to New York to take this job, Adam and I were neighbors. I moved into the same neighborhood in Brooklyn as Adam. And so for the first like year of me working here, Adam and I would carpool to work every single day. It was super duper fun. We hung out so much. But it was the kind of thing where Adam and I, like I had just met Adam and now we're carpooling every single day. Like we had no prior relationship or friendship. And so, so I see, I'm like, I'm sitting shotgun with this like, you know, dude, Adam had sort of like really short buzz cutty sort of hair at the time. He's got tattoos all over his arm, you know, grew up in New York. I'm like, damn, this dude's hard. Like this dude is like a real, a real, a real fucking guy next to me.

• 47:40Speaker 04

And then finally I'm like, yo, like what's that tattoo? Like asking about his sleeve and he's like, oh, the whole arm is Harry Potter tattoos. I was like, oh, this guy's a big softie.

• 47:51David Imel?

Amazing. Yeah, it's all, it's a Harry Potter sleeve. Yeah, but what if he was really into Voldemort? Then he wouldn't be a softie.

• 47:58Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, what if he had the dark mark?

• 48:00David Imel?

Yeah. I debated it. I debated the dark mark, but I did not get it. I have a dark mark on my lower back.

• 48:08Speaker 01

And we'll move on from that.

• 48:09Speaker 04

It's just a natural thing. No one ever asked about my tattoo. You have one? Yeah.

• 48:14Speaker 01

  Do you want them to?

• 48:16Speaker 04

  I mean, I don't really. I'm surprised you didn't know I had a tattoo.

• 48:19Speaker 01

Oh, let's tell us about your tattoo. Marquez in the chat says, oh, let's tell us about your tattoos.

• 48:24Speaker 04

  That'll be, that'll be at episode 600.

• 48:27Speaker 01

Oh, all right. Marquez, that'll be episode 600.

• 48:31Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 48:32Andrew Manganelli?

I looked at that. I would just be turning 40 for episode 600, probably. I know.

• 48:37Speaker 01

Miss Queen says, will there be a segment where they answer questions from the audience?

• 48:42Speaker 04

Can I, can I, there's been a few audio questions. Can I rapid fire those real quick?

• 48:45Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 48:45Speaker 04

All right. What's the best way to get into audio? Buy a cable, an SM7B, and a Focusrite 2i2 and record literally everything and then just make it better every time. Why did we ditch the Tascam Model 12? Because it had this weird bug where if you accidentally overwrote an existing recording on there, the clock would get weird and you couldn't sync anything and it made Adam's life really difficult. Also, now we have the Sonic View 16, this absolute beast of a board.

• 49:13Speaker 01

I can barely see you back there behind that thing.

• 49:16Speaker 04

Oh, my gosh. No, but I think that's, I think those were actually all the audio questions. So.

• 49:21Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 49:21Speaker 04

  Anyway, yeah.

• 49:22Andrew Manganelli?

Someone did say, what degree do you have? Because you were asking.

• 49:24Speaker 04

I have a degree that sounds made up from a school that doesn't exist anymore. I have, I have a Bachelor of Science in Music, comma, Business, comma, Entrepreneurship and Technology. Business is not science, Alice. I know. Neither is Entrepreneurship or Technology. Technology is very science. Yeah. Well, the joke is that every year they would change whether there was that first comma there. So some years it was music business and the others years it was music, comma, business. But why would you need comma business when the next word is entrepreneurship? Doesn't make any sense to me. Anyway, the school's called the University of the Arts and. It spectacularly exploded last year, not with like a literal explosion.

• 50:06Speaker 01

Oh geez, I thought that was bad.

• 50:08Speaker 04

No, no, no. It was pretty amazing though. It was like the, the, the president or CEO, whoever the highest person at the school just emailed everyone and was essentially like, Friday, we're done. Teachers, you're fired. Students, transfer. Peace.

• 50:22Speaker 01

  Dang.

• 50:23Speaker 04

  That's what I would do.

• 50:24Andrew Manganelli?

  Mic drop.

• 50:24Speaker 04

Mic drop. Yeah, so that's my life.

• 50:27Speaker 01

Pretty good. Onto Seb says, any chance of getting a Xiaomi SU7 for review? I do want to. I've been working on that. Also, I saw people asking about the Model Y. I've also been working on that. So both of those are on the list. We want to check those out. Someone asks, how has ultimate first been this year? Can we get an update? And also, what is the next Google product that you think will get killed? So ultimate's been going well. I will be telling people more about ultimate this year in an upcoming video because there's going to be a lot more of it this summer. The next product that Google will kill.

• 50:58David Imel?

  Don't do it.

• 50:59Speaker 01

Is, I feel bad speaking this into existence, but it's probably Google Chat.

• 51:08Andrew Manganelli?

Is that even what it's called?

• 51:09Speaker 01

I'm sorry. Google Talk is what it's called right now. And it exists still.

• 51:12David Imel?

  It's called Google Chat.

• 51:13Speaker 01

  No, Google Talk still exists.

• 51:15David Imel?

  No, it doesn't.

• 51:15Speaker 01

  It's inside of Gmail.

• 51:17David Imel?

  It's chat.

• 51:18Speaker 01

  Is it called chat now?

• 51:19David Imel?

  I believe so.

• 51:20Speaker 01

So it was formerly Talk, but chat.

• 51:21David Imel?

They use it for enterprise, so I don't think it'll ever go away.

• 51:25Speaker 01

Then it's probably Tasks or Keep.

• 51:28David Imel?

I'm down with Tasks going away because Keep is.

• 51:30Speaker 04

Whoever said I give off 5.7 energy, keep that to yourself, man.

• 51:35Andrew Manganelli?

Oh no, they meant in centimeters.

• 51:37Speaker 04

  Oh, wait, that's even shorter.

• 51:40Speaker 01

Someone said hangouts, Google Keep, Google Drive.

• 51:44Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, let's see what you guys think Google's killing next.

• 51:47Speaker 01

  Pixel tablet, they say.

• 51:48Andrew Manganelli?

Somebody's been asking this 100 times. Favorite Pringle flavor?

• 51:52Speaker 04

Ooh, so I just tried the, the Miller Lite beer brought ones.

• 51:56Speaker 08

  So excited for that?

• 51:57Speaker 04

They have that? Yeah, they're fine. They're like not great. Here's the thing with Pringles, right? For years, for years, I sat there with my hand halfway down a tube, just praying that one day they would release a spicy Pringle. Cause I love hot chip. And for years, there were no spicy Pringles. And then they did. Now you can get spicy Pringles. And it turns out they're not that good, actually. That's like a chip form factor that never needed to be spicy. So I'm gonna have to go with, oh wait, this is actually insane. Are you ready? Day to day out on the town, sour cream and onion.

• 52:29Speaker 01

  Same.

• 52:29Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 52:31Speaker 04

With my coffee in the morning.

• 52:33David Imel?

You eat chips in the morning?

• 52:35Speaker 04

  Only, I, I think.

• 52:36Andrew Manganelli?

  Only out of a can.

• 52:37Speaker 04

I think a cup of black coffee and a mini can of cheddar cheese Pringles.

• 52:43David Imel?

  Oh no.

• 52:44Speaker 04

It's like such an awesome combination.

• 52:46Andrew Manganelli?

  Cheddar sour cream or just?

• 52:47Speaker 04

No, no, the, the orange ones, like.

• 52:48David Imel?

This is how I know you lived in Philadelphia.

• 52:50Speaker 04

I think you're thinking of Ruffles. Those are the cheddar sour cream. Uh, no, the, in Philadelphia, you can get, um, it's a, it's the chip form, chip cast now, but, um, in Philadelphia, you can get a hers kettle cooked chips that is cheddar and horseradish.

• 53:05Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, that sounds so good.

• 53:06Speaker 04

They're so horseradishy, like your nose will run by the time you're done with the bag. It's amazing.

• 53:13David Imel?

  Alright.

• 53:13Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm team pizza.

• 53:14David Imel?

  I don't eat chips.

• 53:15Andrew Manganelli?

I actually think they're really good.

• 53:16Speaker 04

Cause they put a little dried basil in it. There's like just a hint of herbaceousness that is so.

• 53:22Andrew Manganelli?

  Gets the Italian in me.

• 53:23Speaker 04

It's so good, um. It's, no, it's, it's Zuri time. So those of us that were, those of you that were in the, the chat before the episode may, may have seen my, uh.

• 53:33David Imel?

  Dog.

• 53:34Speaker 04

My, my dog foreshadow. And, uh, there is a dog right here, although I have no idea how we'll get her elevated in our.

• 53:40Andrew Manganelli?

You should take the headphones off if you're gonna pick her up. Underneath her arms, her front paws.

• 53:44Speaker 04

We're orchestrating. I wonder if you could just put her on the chair.

• 53:49Speaker 01

You want to sit on the chair?

• 53:50Andrew Manganelli?

Every time we put a dog in a spinny chair, it never goes very well.

• 53:55David Imel?

Hmm. Someone asked if I was gonna start a camera channel and I need to know if I should, or if I should just not.

• 54:01Andrew Manganelli?

Alright, chat. This is the, wait, we haven't said chat yet.

• 54:04David Imel?

  You could try.

• 54:05Andrew Manganelli?

  Chat.

• 54:06David Imel?

Do I start a separate camera channel or do I put it all on my?

• 54:09Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, oh, that's the question.

• 54:10David Imel?

  That's the question.

• 54:11Andrew Manganelli?

I think you keep it all on the same channel.

• 54:12David Imel?

  You think so?

• 54:13Andrew Manganelli?

Personally think so. We'll see what chat says. And then you can decide if you trust me or 5,000 random people on the internet more.

• 54:20David Imel?

  Fair enough.

• 54:22Andrew Manganelli?

  Sounds like that.

• 54:23Speaker 01

I tried to pick her up and then she's just turned into a mat. Oh my god.

• 54:26Speaker 04

Favorite technology connections video? This, I feel like this is targeted towards me exactly.

• 54:30David Imel?

I, I've watched them all too.

• 54:32Speaker 04

My favorite technologies connection, well, I think this, this, the R C A C E D series is really, really good. But the one that like really changed my life, the first time I saw it is the one called, there's magic inside your VCR.

• 54:44Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 54:44Speaker 04

Uh, I watched that and then immediately scoured the curbs of Philadelphia until I found a VCR.

• 54:52Speaker 01

Wait, that was the first time you bought a VCR?

• 54:53Speaker 04

Yeah, I, I mean, I was, I was doing a lot of cassette stuff at the time. Like I was taking apart a lot of cassette decks and repairing them and like fixing their belts and stuff. And so I thought I understood how a VCR worked. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I gotta mess around with this. And then I realized VCRs are way too complicated for you, boy, to repair.

• 55:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 55:10Speaker 04

Meaningfully. I've done like small repairs.

• 55:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 55:13Speaker 04

  Okay. Next question.

• 55:17Andrew Manganelli?

  I've seen that a bunch.

• 55:19Speaker 04

  That's not even a question.

• 55:21Andrew Manganelli?

My knees have been hurting pretty bad lately. I think you've.

• 55:24Speaker 04

  Really? Okay.

• 55:26Andrew Manganelli?

  I don't know.

• 55:27Speaker 04

And you guys weigh in on this because pros versus cons, I feel like I might have a little bit of reach on you.

• 55:32Andrew Manganelli?

  I think so.

• 55:33Speaker 04

Um, and your knees are not very good.

• 55:36Speaker 01

What martial art are you trying to do? Like this is like.

• 55:38Speaker 04

  This is a street fight.

• 55:38Speaker 01

  Mixed martial.

• 55:39Andrew Manganelli?

  It's a cage match.

• 55:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 55:40Andrew Manganelli?

  Whatever's legal inside the cage.

• 55:41Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 55:42Speaker 04

  I think.

• 55:43Speaker 01

  Then just strength.

• 55:44Speaker 04

Yeah, I think you're way stronger than me. I also think you could take a decent amount more of a beating than I could.

• 55:51Andrew Manganelli?

I have a decent pain tolerance because I've hurt myself way too many times.

• 55:55Speaker 04

I think, um, I think I would get hit in the face once and rethink everything.

• 56:00Andrew Manganelli?

  All right, next studio video.

• 56:02Speaker 04

Wait, I want to talk about fighting more.

• 56:04David Imel?

Someone wants to know everyone's astrological signs.

• 56:07Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay. Cancer.

• 56:08Speaker 04

  Why?

• 56:08Speaker 01

  I know mine.

• 56:09Speaker 04

  I'm a pixel.

• 56:09Andrew Manganelli?

  I know it. That's all I know.

• 56:11Speaker 01

  Yeah, I'm a Sagittarius. That's it.

• 56:13Andrew Manganelli?

  Cancer.

• 56:14David Imel?

  Gatorade.

• 56:15Andrew Manganelli?

That'd be a sex sign. What flavor?

• 56:19Speaker 01

Wait, that would be awesome if it was just like Pisces, Sagittarius, Gatorade. That's like one of the coolest.

• 56:24Andrew Manganelli?

  What flavor Gatorade?

• 56:26David Imel?

  Uh, Mountain Dew.

• 56:27Speaker 01

  What's your birthday, David?

• 56:29Andrew Manganelli?

  They just.

• 56:29David Imel?

  April 25th.

• 56:31Speaker 01

  Astrological.

• 56:33David Imel?

  I could just tell you.

• 56:35Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, you know it.

• 56:35David Imel?

  You're a Taurus. A Taurus.

• 56:36Speaker 01

Yeah, I thought you were gonna say Gemini, which would be crazy.

• 56:38David Imel?

  That would be crazy.

• 56:40Andrew Manganelli?

  Why would that be crazy?

• 56:42Speaker 01

Cause we were just talking about Gemini before.

• 56:44David Imel?

Is anyone in here a Gemini? No. Good.

• 56:47Speaker 01

  No, they're Geminis.

• 56:48Speaker 04

I do, I love my Gemini.

• 56:49David Imel?

That's, that's like a really Gemini thing of you to say, Ellis.

• 56:52Speaker 01

Someone says, do you miss anything about your Model S Plaid?

• 56:56Andrew Manganelli?

  Could have Grok right now.

• 56:59Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's a great question.

• 57:00David Imel?

Oh, someone says they're Gatorade too.

• 57:02Speaker 01

  The only thing-

• 57:02David Imel?

  Gatorade buds.

• 57:03Speaker 01

That I really miss is the ability to like truly go like, drive itself in traffic. Like if it was bumper to bumper traffic and I just wanted to kinda sit back and stretch my legs, it would drive itself. That's basically it. Yeah. Front trunk is the same, yeah, that's pretty close. That's about it.

• 57:21Andrew Manganelli?

Someone said, what's everyone's video game platform preference?

• 57:24Speaker 01

  PS5.

• 57:27David Imel?

Uh, I'm sacrilegious. I play, I basically only play Dota 2 and I play it on my MacBook Pro.

• 57:33Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh my goodness.

• 57:35Speaker 01

  That's a psycho answer.

• 57:36David Imel?

  I get 120 FPS.

• 57:38Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 57:38David Imel?

On, on the three Macs. No, come on, what's wrong with it? I mean, it has random horrible bugs, but besides that, I think it's fine. I also really like the, uh, I've been using a lot of emulator devices recently. They're really fun. Just like little, I have a Game Boy Advance SP1. And I've been playing Pokemon Pinball Ruby Sapphire, which I had when I was a kid and it's freaking great.

• 57:58Speaker 01

I just keep pausing and there's like such unhinged questions.

• 58:01David Imel?

  Like what?

• 58:01Speaker 01

Someone says, do you have a mortgage?

• 58:05Speaker 01

Do you, do any of you speak a second language?

• 58:07David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 58:08Speaker 01

Do you speak a second language?

• 58:10David Imel?

Ellis' personality does not, is this about my height again?

• 58:13Speaker 01

You can't keep baiting them. What do you, do you, what do you speak?

• 58:16David Imel?

  If it's not- Yeah, Deutsch.

• 58:18Speaker 01

  Deutsch?

• 58:18David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 58:19Speaker 01

I can kinda understand some Spanish, but I don't really speak it fluently.

• 58:22David Imel?

  Deutsch is German.

• 58:23Speaker 01

No, I'm just saying, that's my answer.

• 58:25David Imel?

  Oh, got it.

• 58:25Speaker 01

  Yeah, I know.

• 58:28Speaker 01

  What else did they say?

• 58:29David Imel?

  I speak, yeah.

• 58:30Speaker 01

Oh, am I gonna get a dog? I, I don't think I'm going to get a dog as long as I-

• 58:35David Imel?

  We have dogs here.

• 58:36Speaker 01

  Have access to dogs.

• 58:39David Imel?

That's how I feel about cats. You know, I had cats and then they peed on my bed six times and then I, well, I was, okay, to be clear, I was fostering them. I didn't return them. They got adopted. But now I'm like, you know, I could go with not peed on bed. That'd be good. But I do love cats. They're the best. I definitely have the brain worm that the cat gives you.

• 58:59Speaker 01

Someone said, Marquez, when you reviewed your car, you said it was a nine out of 10 of everything, but what is the nine out of 10 of everything in EVs? I think, and they said, not a Tesla, but the answer is a Lucid Air Sapphire. It's, it's actually a 10 out of 10 in acceleration, but it's nine out of 10 in everything else.

• 59:12David Imel?

Not the Hummer EV? How dare you?

• 59:13Speaker 01

The Hummer EV is something special. You know what's crazy? I can say this even though the video's not out yet. I'm currently testing the Cadillac Escalade IQ right now.

• 59:24David Imel?

I can't beat that. So it's live now.

• 59:26Speaker 01

Yeah, it's out there. And the videos, you know, the autofocus video is coming up, but this thing is, oh, I think the title has to be like, this is a living room on wheels, because it's basically, this is a 200 kilowatt hour battery. It's 9,000 pounds. It's longer than an F-150. It has three rows. It has all the storage, all of the materials. And it, I plugged it in, actually, when we first got it, it had 92% battery left, and it was reading 450 miles of range. That's a lot. That's crazy. I haven't seen 450 miles of range in years. I don't think any, other than the Lucids, I don't think I've seen 400 plus in real world range. So shout out to the 200 kilowatt hour battery underneath that living room on wheels. That

• 1:00:11Speaker 01

  thing is crazy.

• 1:00:12David Imel?

  Interesting.

• 1:00:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:00:13David Imel?

Can I, I just want to say something about that. You know what I mean? Because frankly, Cadillac, shame on you. Just make a smaller, less heavy car, please.

• 1:00:23Speaker 01

Well, they do. They make the Optic, which is the smallest one, and they make the Lyric. And I was just thinking, as I passed by a Lyric this morning, this is the mega Lyric. This is the mega Lyric. It's huge.

• 1:00:34Speaker 04

Why can't we, just make a blimp. If you want to make something that big, make it really slow and up in the air where it can't hurt anybody.

• 1:00:39Speaker 01

  Yeah, it is massive.

• 1:00:40Speaker 04

Also, to everyone commenting about the audio thing, I think our internet is having, having a little bit of a day today.

• 1:00:46Andrew Manganelli?

Alright, well, we'll probably go 10, 15 more minutes?

• 1:00:50Speaker 01

Should we go, how should we end this? Just rapid fire answering questions?

• 1:00:54Speaker 04

Yeah, I'm trying to start some sort of argument, man. We had such a good argument during the test stream.

• 1:00:58Speaker 01

  With cheese?

• 1:00:59David Imel?

Someone said something that I felt really stupid about. That trivia question about the things that IO could mean? There's literally a character in Dota 2 called IO.

• 1:01:07Speaker 04

  Wow, I can't believe I didn't find that.

• 1:01:09David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:10Speaker 01

  Dang.

• 1:01:11David Imel?

I mean, I never play him, so.

• 1:01:12Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 1:01:13David Imel?

  Yeah, he's a floating orb. That's it.

• 1:01:17Speaker 04

  He's the O.

• 1:01:17Andrew Manganelli?

  Hmm. Is IO OP?

• 1:01:20Speaker 04

  Is IO?

• 1:01:20David Imel?

IO has been OP in previous metas, yeah. Not currently OP.

• 1:01:26David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:27Speaker 04

Wait, I don't think we ever, Andrew, what's your gaming platform of choice? Did you ever answer that?

• 1:01:31Andrew Manganelli?

Probably computer. For a very long time, it was Xbox.

• 1:01:34David Imel?

  What's a computer?

• 1:01:34Speaker 01

  What's a computer?

• 1:01:35David Imel?

Sorry, I had to. It's just a reflex. When people say computer, I just reflexively. Someone says, "Do I do wedding engagement photos?" Uh, yeah. Hit me up. I have an email address.

• 1:01:47Speaker 01

Maria Smith, Marquez, how much longer do you see yourself playing ultimate for?

• 1:01:51David Imel?

  I don't know. Until I can't. Until I literally can't.

• 1:01:54Andrew Manganelli?

And then I get to steal him for disc golf finally?

• 1:01:57David Imel?

Then I just switch full time to golf golf, I think.

• 1:01:59Andrew Manganelli?

  No, nah!

• 1:02:00David Imel?

  I think.

• 1:02:01Andrew Manganelli?

What if it was a little like both?

• 1:02:04David Imel?

The problem is I'm already like decent at golf, so it would be like a hard learning curve to get good, to get that good at disc golf? I could be swayed. I could try it.

• 1:02:12Andrew Manganelli?

  I'll try.

• 1:02:13David Imel?

  But, you know, golf golf.

• 1:02:14Speaker 01

  Someone says, "What's your hottest?"

• 1:02:15Speaker 04

I'm convinced that Marquez is just gonna retire and become a coach.

• 1:02:20David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:20Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:02:22David Imel?

I've thought about that. I, I have the...

• 1:02:27Speaker 01

I go on and off with like, do I have the brain to be a coach? I was a captain of my college team. That kind of felt like coaching because there's a lot of beginners on the team. I've done some clinics where like I go back to my old high school and like talk to the kids and the kids who are already pretty good and sort of give them fundamental advice on playing better. But coaching a team is like X's and O's on the field against an opponent. And I'm not as like fully in tune with like, I don't do scouting that much. I'm very much an individual scout on like, here's how to guard this one player and how I'll maximize it. But the whole team thing is, I don't have that vision, visionary ability yet.

• 1:03:06Speaker 04

Marcus, I think you're gonna get into tennis after Ultimate.

• 1:03:11Speaker 01

I have tried tennis once before.

• 1:03:13Speaker 04

  I think.

• 1:03:13Speaker 01

I was really bad at it.

• 1:03:15Speaker 04

I know, I know. But just seeing how, how good your specific brain is for ping pong, I think you're gonna watch one tennis tournament and see what those guys are doing and be like, oh, I'm kind of interested in that.

• 1:03:26Speaker 01

That's hard on the knees though, isn't it?

• 1:03:28Speaker 04

It is, but also like people regularly play tennis into their 60s. Like it's not, it's not, it's harder on your elbow.

• 1:03:35Speaker 04

But if you do, you know, you're, you're in shape, you know what to do.

• 1:03:38Speaker 01

True. I'm gonna, I'm gonna want to use my cardio in some way because golf does not use my cardio.

• 1:03:43Speaker 04

My, look, my mother, still up there in age, still playing four days a week.

• 1:03:48Speaker 01

Of tennis, tennis. What? And is like pickleball on her radar or is she just like anti?

• 1:03:52Speaker 04

I'm not gonna speak for my mom.

• 1:03:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:03:54Speaker 04

But I don't think she would ever get even close to a pickleball.

• 1:03:57Speaker 01

That's what I hear from tennis players.

• 1:03:58Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:03:59Speaker 01

Support for the show comes from Jira by Atlassian. So AI is only as useful as the context it has to work from, but when that context is scattered across tools like threads and DMs, that means your team and your AI agents end up flying kind of blind. That's the problem Jira solves. What's the goal tied to your project? What got decided last week in Slack? Atlassian's teamwork graph pulls all of these pieces together from Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more, so nothing falls through the cracks.

• 1:05:42David Imel?

Someone said, "Do you guys have a hot tech take for the year so far?" Yeah.

• 1:05:47Andrew Manganelli?

  Who for the year?

• 1:05:49Speaker 01

Like, hot tech take for the year?

• 1:05:51David Imel?

Basically, I assume it would be like, what's like a trend this year?

• 1:05:54Speaker 01

If the Nothing Phone 3 was $4.99, it would be universally accepted over its design.

• 1:06:01Andrew Manganelli?

  It's the coldest take possible?

• 1:06:03Speaker 01

No, I think the design is like, easy to make fun of because it's expensive, but I think if it was $4.99, if it was a good phone for the money, people would ignore the design.

• 1:06:10Andrew Manganelli?

I don't think that many people are making fun of the...

• 1:06:13David Imel?

  I think...

• 1:06:13Andrew Manganelli?

There's people making fun of the design a little bit, but most people are the true mad.

• 1:06:18Speaker 01

Not a hot enough take, then?

• 1:06:20David Imel?

My hottest tech take is that Apple is like, in its not-good era right now.

• 1:06:25Andrew Manganelli?

  That's...

• 1:06:26David Imel?

It's like, on its way out.

• 1:06:27Andrew Manganelli?

  Bad guy?

• 1:06:28David Imel?

  Totally agree.

• 1:06:28Speaker 01

  What kind of not good?

• 1:06:29David Imel?

Like, it feels sort of like a dip for the company where none of their design decisions seem to me making a lot of sense. Like, even with liquid glass, they've already scaled it back to the point where it's so different. And it feels like there's not cohesive leadership at the design level.

• 1:06:47David Imel?

And uh, yeah, I feel like they're in a dip right now.

• 1:06:50Andrew Manganelli?

  Lost their plot.

• 1:06:51Speaker 01

  Aura a little bit?

• 1:06:53David Imel?

Yeah, I mean, it just feels like they got, they got forced to get sidetracked with all the AI stuff because of their stock price. And then they, eventually they realized they didn't necessarily like really have to do that. So this year they went back to like just machine learning stuff, which is good. But with the design stuff without, without Johnny Ive or like, you know, and I'm glad we got the thick MacBooks again, so. Huge. That's good, but um, yeah, I don't know. It just sort of feels like they're just making a lot of really bad product decisions right now and it feels like they're in their dip era.

• 1:07:25Andrew Manganelli?

Dip era, I agree with, I don't think.

• 1:07:27David Imel?

They're not on the way out.

• 1:07:28Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, they're definitely just having a tough two years for sure. And it's so much weirder because they're usually.

• 1:07:38Speaker 04

I have a tech take, but it's pretty hot. So maybe.

• 1:07:41David Imel?

  Let's do it.

• 1:07:42Speaker 04

  Let's do it.

• 1:07:42Andrew Manganelli?

  iOS 26 beta.

• 1:07:44Speaker 04

I think, I think it's sort of a two-part take. The first part is that we've sort of gone over this crest in tech right now. Where it feels like getting VC funding as a tech company is more important than getting customer sales.

• 1:08:01David Imel?

In a lot of places it is.

• 1:08:04Speaker 04

And for that reason. More and more companies are quote unquote pivoting to AI. And my actual hot take is that the quickest way a tech company can ruin their brand image, possibly forever. Is by publicly pivoting to AI. And I get that in our circle. It's like, oh, like Notion has an AI now. Like, oh, this has an AI now. Oh, the Domino's app, Pizza AI. I don't think that exists. But among, among my non-tech friends.

• 1:08:39Speaker 04

I now know five or six people who as soon as an app they like is like, check out our new chatbot. Check out our new AI, instant delete, cancel subscription, get it out. Because none of these products work. I mean, look, like I use Claude, like Claude sort of works, but I would still give it only like a 30% success rate. You know, every time it's queried for giving me something that's like useful. So yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say it. If you're thinking about pivoting your company to AI, you will probably make money in the long run, but everyone will hate you.

• 1:09:14Andrew Manganelli?

Domino's does use it, does use it.

• 1:09:16Speaker 04

All right, I am now officially a Papa John's, no pizza, no, I live in New York.

• 1:09:21David Imel?

You guys know about Papa Murphy's?

• 1:09:23Speaker 04

  What is Papa Murphy's?

• 1:09:24David Imel?

It's called Taken Bake Pizza. This is a NorCal thing.

• 1:09:27Speaker 04

Oh, this is the one where like you, yeah.

• 1:09:29David Imel?

Yeah, so basically you go in, they make the pizza for you, but they don't cook it. And then you bring it home and you cook it yourself.

• 1:09:35Speaker 04

That's kind of cute. Except, except, except you need a, you need a real solid oven.

• 1:09:41David Imel?

And it's still not good pizza, to be clear. It's not that good, but it is better than like hot pizza.

• 1:09:48Andrew Manganelli?

Well, it's already not good pizza and it's sitting in a box.

• 1:09:51Speaker 04

It's way better pizza than like Papa John's. It is, um, it is kind of shocking how much better a pizza can come out of your oven when you just put a rock in there with it. It is like fascinating, like if you ever make like a DiGiorno's rising crust frozen pizza, but put a pizza stone in your oven or better. Yeah, Andrew, do you have a three rack oven?

• 1:10:09Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:10:10Speaker 04

You ever use two pizza stones, one on top, one on bottom?

• 1:10:12David Imel?

  You got racks on racks.

• 1:10:13Andrew Manganelli?

I also have a pizza oven though.

• 1:10:16Speaker 04

Oh, I'm Andrew. I have a backyard with a pizza oven in it.

• 1:10:20David Imel?

Yeah, I live in a cellar.

• 1:10:21Speaker 04

I think my tech take, so. Oh, wait, David, you literally live in a cellar.

• 1:10:25David Imel?

I live in a cellar. It's better than the rattlesnake den, but.

• 1:10:28Speaker 04

Dave, when you say I live in a cellar, I'm just picturing you behind like a cage with a sleeping guard and keys dangling out of his pocket. You're desperately trying to convince a dog to go like.

• 1:10:37Andrew Manganelli?

Where he has like a stick trying to like get the keys off his sleeping belt.

• 1:10:41David Imel?

  Did I stutter?

• 1:10:42Speaker 04

Okay, okay. So tech take, I think Android is gonna be the cool one again. That's something I've been working on all year.

• 1:10:49David Imel?

  Again.

• 1:10:49Speaker 04

Yeah, well, I guess for the first time.

• 1:10:52Speaker 02

  That's fair.

• 1:10:53David Imel?

It was cool to me. It was cool to me for a while.

• 1:10:55Speaker 02

I think Android was cool for a while and then the whole blue bubble thing made iMessage is just like the far and away leader and Apple, the far and away leader.

• 1:11:03Speaker 01

You're talking about in the US?

• 1:11:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, in the US.

• 1:11:04Speaker 02

Yeah, no, in the US. Well, even... Yeah, I'll stick it just to the US.

• 1:11:08David Imel?

I did have a normie friend tell me yesterday, because she was thinking about switching to the Fairphone 6, which was like crazy.

• 1:11:14Speaker 02

  That's not a normie friend.

• 1:11:15Andrew Manganelli?

  You don't have that.

• 1:11:16Speaker 02

  That doesn't exist.

• 1:11:17David Imel?

She heard about Fairphone because she wanted to be more fair to the world, I guess, or something. And I was like, "Oh, there's a new one coming out." I told her about it. And I was like, "But you know, you have to get off iMessage." And she's like, "Um, yeah. I mean, I kind of think that green bubbles are like, kind of like, counterculture rebellious now." And I was like, "Oh."

• 1:11:34Speaker 02

That's what I mean. I think the pendulum swing is coming back for the green bubbles.

• 1:11:39David Imel?

I need the pendulum swing. Ellis reacted, thumbs down.

• 1:11:43Speaker 01

Texting people that. Okay, we got a couple of bangers in a row. One of them was DN says, "What do you think about the Roadster? Are you still getting one for free?" No one has any idea. There was a random Elon tweet recently that was like...

• 1:11:56Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, I saw that.

• 1:11:57Speaker 01

Just saw the coolest tech demo in the design studio. And people tagged me about it, like, "What do you think, Marques?" And I was like, "Are we really going to react to a tweet about a teaser, about a demo, about a product that's still not out? I got nothing to say." The other one was, "What's your Wawa order?"

• 1:12:13David Imel?

  Oh.

• 1:12:14Speaker 01

  That's a comment. That's not a Slack message. It's a real comment. It's on underscore yo.

• 1:12:17David Imel?

  Are we ordering Wawa?

• 1:12:18Speaker 01

No, this is a real comment.

• 1:12:19Andrew Manganelli?

  I think they were.

• 1:12:20Speaker 04

  They are. Wawa's already ordered.

• 1:12:21Speaker 01

Wawa's already ordered, but also people in the chat want to know what your Wawa order is.

• 1:12:25David Imel?

  Okay.

• 1:12:26Speaker 01

So, did you order Wawa today?

• 1:12:27David Imel?

  I didn't, but I...

• 1:12:28Speaker 04

You should, you should ask someone if you can still order Wawa. Don't go hungry.

• 1:12:31Speaker 02

  That was this morning.

• 1:12:31Speaker 04

  I am hungry.

• 1:12:32Andrew Manganelli?

I think they did it at like 11:00. He said orders closed an hour ago.

• 1:12:36Speaker 01

Yeah, we have a Wawa orders Slack channel, just to be clear.

• 1:12:39David Imel?

Okay, my order is, um, I like the honey smoked turkey shorty.

• 1:12:45Speaker 04

  Nice.

• 1:12:45David Imel?

With, uh, mustard and everything else.

• 1:12:49Andrew Manganelli?

That's a sandwich, by the way. Just for those...

• 1:12:52David Imel?

Oh, the hoagies, yeah. And shorty means small.

• 1:12:55Andrew Manganelli?

  Small, small size.

• 1:12:56David Imel?

Small sandwich. I get everything on it, though. Like, every ingredient.

• 1:13:00Andrew Manganelli?

Right now, Italian sub with provolone, lettuce, uh, hot peppers, Old Bay, oil vinegar, extra of that. And then, right now, there's these like, crispy pickle chips that you can put on it. Fantastic.

• 1:13:18David Imel?

  That's nice.

• 1:13:18Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 1:13:19Andrew Manganelli?

They never put enough oil and vinegar on, though, ever. I want the bun to be soaking in oil and vinegar.

• 1:13:24Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:13:25Speaker 01

  Yo, I'll give you all.

• 1:13:26David Imel?

That sounds disgusting. The lukewarm soggy panini from Wawa is usually what I get.

• 1:13:32Speaker 04

Yeah. I, I, I change it up a lot when I'm getting a hoagie, but when it's raining outside, what I do is I get the, the ham and cheese panini with cheddar and pickles. So it's kind of like a grilled cheese. Maybe a little garlic aioli on that. And then I get a side of tomato bisque. And I hit it with the.

• 1:13:53Speaker 01

  The bread and tomato business.

• 1:13:54Speaker 04

So good. Um, I'm sorry, Marquez. I just, I won't dive into it, but ever since you brought up that roadster thing, it's like, the, the, the Tesla expanded universe has strayed so far from an affordable sports car. They put out an AI girlfriend yesterday. It's like, where, where?

• 1:14:14Andrew Manganelli?

It's definitely not an affordable sports car.

• 1:14:16Speaker 04

Well, wasn't the point originally though, supposed to be like?

• 1:14:19Andrew Manganelli?

  For the roadster?

• 1:14:20Speaker 01

  Context.

• 1:14:20Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:14:21Speaker 01

Yeah. Well, yeah. Context is for the performance that they promised, it is relatively affordable because they're matching a $2 million car with a $200,000 car.

• 1:14:28Speaker 04

  Right.

• 1:14:29Speaker 01

  But it's not out. So.

• 1:14:31Speaker 04

No, and it's never going to come out because they're not working on it because they're too busy doing whatever it is they were put out yesterday.

• 1:14:36Speaker 01

Yeah, they're working on other things.

• 1:14:37David Imel?

  Said favorite app of 2025.

• 1:14:40Speaker 01

So it had to come out or?

• 1:14:43David Imel?

I think it had to have come out this year.

• 1:14:45Speaker 04

Oh, I really like onion rings, but mozzarella sticks are climbing up the ranks.

• 1:14:49David Imel?

What are, are you using anything more this year than you use before?

• 1:14:53Speaker 01

  Um, that's a good question.

• 1:14:57David Imel?

I would say Pokemon Training Card Game Pocket, I'm still playing. Um, I don't play games like almost ever and but Bellatro and Pokemon's Training Card Game Pocket now are the first two games I've like ever had on my phone and I'm very addicted to both of them and I don't like that.

• 1:15:13Speaker 01

Coinbase has sent me a notification every day for like the last five days because Bitcoin's hitting a new high every five days. So there's that.

• 1:15:20Speaker 01

  I have.

• 1:15:21David Imel?

  This is not financial advice.

• 1:15:23Speaker 01

A teaser. Uh, somebody asked about the Tesla robot taxi thing and I have the Tesla robot taxi app here on my phone. So there's a little teaser.

• 1:15:32David Imel?

Why would you have that, Marquez?

• 1:15:33Speaker 01

Yeah, you know, he's just, uh, just testing, just testing it out. Here's a new, uh, area that they're doing.

• 1:15:39David Imel?

Did they do that on purpose?

• 1:15:40Speaker 01

  Yes, of course they did.

• 1:15:41David Imel?

  I hate everything.

• 1:15:42Speaker 01

But also, yeah, no, I don't have any like app of the year for me so far, I don't think. Actually, no, I won't shout that out, that's cool.

• 1:15:54Andrew Manganelli?

I don't even know what he's talking about. I don't think I use any apps that are new this year. I think UDisc is like my most fun app that I, just for disc golf.

• 1:16:02Speaker 04

I'm really digging the Brooklyn Public Library app.

• 1:16:05Speaker 01

  Oh yeah.

• 1:16:06Andrew Manganelli?

What do you do in that?

• 1:16:07Speaker 04

What do you do in that?

• 1:16:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:16:10Speaker 04

It has two main, like, so you can browse the catalog, which is really useful.

• 1:16:13Speaker 01

  That's sick.

• 1:16:14Speaker 04

You can place holds on audiobooks, ebooks, or physical books. And then you can also read the ebooks in the app, in like a built, in a built-in reader. And it like, look, it's not, I'm not gonna be like, this is a phenomenal app. But I will say, for an app that is run by a city, it is so good. Like, never crashes.

• 1:16:35Speaker 01

The bar is low, but that is pretty good.

• 1:16:36Speaker 04

Very responsive UI, everything works, easy sign-in, feels secure. I would assume it's my library card, so it's like, I shouldn't say that.

• 1:16:46Speaker 01

Probably is. Hopefully it's your library card.

• 1:16:48Speaker 04

It, yeah, but now everyone is gonna try to hack into my Brooklyn Public Library account.

• 1:16:52Speaker 01

My, I don't think my public library has an app, so that's pretty cool. Really?

• 1:16:57Andrew Manganelli?

  I think you'd be surprised.

• 1:16:58Speaker 04

Mark has, do you have a library card?

• 1:16:59Speaker 01

I'll check. I'd, not anymore. I have one from my hometown, but I haven't, yeah, it's been a while.

• 1:17:05Speaker 04

Everyone take out your library cards. Do it.

• 1:17:07Speaker 01

I have the Where the Wild Things Are one.

• 1:17:10Speaker 02

Oh yeah, that's a good one. That's my favorite thing about the Brooklyn Public Library app, is my card is in it. I don't need to carry it around physically.

• 1:17:16Speaker 04

  You're not a card-carrying member, bro?

• 1:17:18Speaker 01

Did you know Costco does the same thing?

• 1:17:19Speaker 02

Oh yeah, I have it on Costco, but I changed phones too many times, so I got locked out.

• 1:17:23Speaker 01

Yeah, I went to Costco the other day and I realized walking in that I forgot my card. And they were like, you can just log in on the app. And I was like, duh, obviously.

• 1:17:33Andrew Manganelli?

We're still at 5K viewers, by the way. That's pretty, usually they like peek up and taper off, but everyone's staying strong. I think we have like-

• 1:17:42Speaker 04

It was kind of a random midday on a Tuesday, you know, people just hanging out.

• 1:17:46Andrew Manganelli?

  Should we do like-

• 1:17:46Speaker 02

  I have one app.

• 1:17:47Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, do your app, yeah.

• 1:17:49Speaker 02

It's not new, but it's one that I found recently and has been like a lifesaver and it's just local send. It's basically airdrop between like any device and it's been super useful. Local send.

• 1:17:59David Imel?

  That's amazing. I'll try that.

Jalapeno poppers. Cause it's like chili relleno, but you can eat a lot of them. So awesome. Chilli relleno is amazing. Yeah, that's why jalapeno poppers rule. They do rule. Except for when they like burn your mouth. And like squirt all over your shirt. That's the worst.

• 1:18:15David Imel?

  That sounds terrible.

• 1:18:16Speaker 04

That's the worst. Um, I'm hungy, uh, but-

• 1:18:20Andrew Manganelli?

Do you want to do like two more questions?

• 1:18:22Speaker 04

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 1:18:24Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, okay. I probably should have had a question ready for it. I said that.

• 1:18:28Speaker 04

  Let's see, let's see, let's see, let's see.

• 1:18:29Speaker 01

Someone said, "Ever heard of Yandex, guys? It's like the Google of Central Asia." Yes, not only have I, but I took a ride in a Yandex self-driving car at CES years ago. Check that one out. Little throwback video for you.

• 1:18:43Andrew Manganelli?

  I remember that.

• 1:18:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:18:44David Imel?

Someone asked what the favorite, our favorite SpongeBob memes are.

• 1:18:48Speaker 04

Oh, brother. That one's excellent. Yeah.

• 1:18:51Andrew Manganelli?

What? What's the one where he's like, like camera blurred like this? Is that Mr. Krabs?

• 1:18:57Speaker 04

  Mr. Krabs.

• 1:18:58Andrew Manganelli?

The reason I love that is because one time I was doing a Fall Guys stream and Alice was watching and I like knocked my webcam and it paused to like me being like that and Alice like screenshotted it and sent it to me as the meme.

• 1:19:11Speaker 04

There's so many good ones. So many good ones. Can I tell the story of when you were streaming, um, Valorant, I think?

• 1:19:19Andrew Manganelli?

  Or-

• 1:19:19Speaker 04

And you didn't know my Twitch account? And so I just started commenting, begging you to come visit a fan in Utah.

• 1:19:28Speaker 04

My favorite SpongeBob meme is the sound, the stinky sound. So much so that when someone sends me a text I don't like, or like they bail on plans or something like that, I'll just send the, a YouTube link to like the.

• 1:19:44Speaker 04

I think mine is, Mr. Krabs, I have an idea.

• 1:19:49Speaker 01

Pretty good. So I said, Marquez, did you switch to your iPhone again? I've literally used two phones since the beginning of time. I have an iPhone in one pocket and an Android phone in the other pocket.

• 1:20:00Speaker 04

There are cave paintings about it. It's crazy how in the Big Bang happened, the first atoms to be pulled together into solid matter formed a Samsung and an iPhone.

• 1:20:10Andrew Manganelli?

And they were in Marquez's pockets.

• 1:20:11Speaker 01

Would you have? Wait, which? Never mind. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro. Got it. Right.

• 1:20:19Andrew Manganelli?

  Good looking out, though.

• 1:20:20Speaker 01

  Yeah. Someone was gonna ask.

• 1:20:22Speaker 04

Did we just break him, Mark? Dude, if, um, if the, if the hypothetical folding iPhone had a built in an A pen, brother.

• 1:20:30Speaker 01

  Apple pen.

• 1:20:30Speaker 04

I would be so. Is that what the S stands for? Oh, my God.

• 1:20:36Speaker 01

  Wait, what?

• 1:20:36Speaker 04

I just assumed it was the same as Galaxy S, like it was super.

• 1:20:40Speaker 01

  The, the S pen?

• 1:20:41Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:20:42Speaker 01

  Samsung pen?

• 1:20:42Speaker 04

Is it Samsung pen or super pen?

• 1:20:44Speaker 01

  I think it's just Galaxy S. S pen.

• 1:20:46Speaker 04

  But the S.

• 1:20:48Speaker 01

  I'm asking ChatGPT.

• 1:20:49Speaker 04

The S does not stand for Samsung in Galaxy S.

• 1:20:52Speaker 01

  I know.

• 1:20:53Speaker 02

The S stands for Wheezy F baby.

• 1:20:55Speaker 01

Super. ChatGPT says the S doesn't have an official meaning.

• 1:20:59Speaker 04

  Well, that's literally wrong.

• 1:21:01Speaker 01

Widely believed to stand for Samsung, as in Samsung.

• 1:21:03Speaker 04

That's double wrong. It's wrong both times. It does stand for something and it stands for super.

• 1:21:08Speaker 01

It does stand for super. Well, ChatGPT just didn't.

• 1:21:11Speaker 04

That's what, okay, this is what I'm saying. They're wrong almost every time. And, and I think we don't realize it because we all make the mistake of assuming that they're correct. But it's like, it was wrong when I, when I asked it about what the state abbreviation for Iowa was.

• 1:21:25Speaker 01

  Hey, where'd you find?

• 1:21:25Speaker 04

  It was wrong. Did we?

• 1:21:30David Imel?

  Smash Bros. made it.

• 1:21:31Speaker 01

I'm on the Wikipedia for S Pen and I command F Super and it's not there.

• 1:21:34Speaker 04

We had a whole waveform episode about this, remember? Because the A stands for awesome.

• 1:21:39Speaker 01

Yeah. Yeah, but in Galaxy S, that might stand for one thing, but in S Pen, it doesn't appear to stand for anything.

• 1:21:46Andrew Manganelli?

Oh, you're just looking for what S Pen stands for?

• 1:21:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:21:49Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, okay.

• 1:21:50Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:21:52Speaker 01

  That's what I asked.

• 1:21:52Speaker 02

Chat, what does it say? Chat!

• 1:21:56Speaker 04

Phone Arena, did you know that, do you know what the S in Galaxy's S line stands for? The answer is super cheesy, it stands for super smart.

• 1:22:02Andrew Manganelli?

I think you guys are talking about two different things, though.

• 1:22:05Speaker 01

  That's Galaxy S.

• 1:22:06Andrew Manganelli?

  That's Galaxy S, you're saying there's S Pen.

• 1:22:08Speaker 04

No, so that was my original question, is the S Pen, super smart, like in Galaxy S? Or is it short for Samsung?

• 1:22:15Speaker 01

  Or in nothing.

• 1:22:16Andrew Manganelli?

  I don't think anyone knows.

• 1:22:17Speaker 04

  No, Samsung knows, okay.

• 1:22:20Andrew Manganelli?

  Maybe.

• 1:22:21Speaker 01

  Well, Wikipedia-

• 1:22:22Andrew Manganelli?

We've talked to Samsung, I don't know about that.

• 1:22:24Speaker 01

  Wikipedia doesn't, ChatGPT does.

• 1:22:26David Imel?

Someone said favorite movie, TV show, I just want to shout out Halton Catchfire, because everyone that watches waveform would really love the show, because it's about the 80's computer revolution and it's really good, it's a dramatization, it's so good.

• 1:22:39Speaker 04

Sorry, hopping back in here, because now I'm mad, I found, I found the 2011 PR blast from Samsung that has the acronyms for all their letters. It's S, super smart, R-

• 1:22:51Speaker 01

  S for Galaxy S.

• 1:22:52Speaker 04

Royal slash refined, W is for wonder, M is for magical, and Y is for young.

• 1:23:00Speaker 02

I think what they're saying, though, is that these are for the devices. S Pen might be something else, even though the phone itself, the S might stand for that.

• 1:23:09Speaker 01

Like the Galaxy Tab has an S Pen, and what does the S stand for? That's my question, I don't think there's an answer.

• 1:23:16Speaker 04

Which, is it not the Galaxy S Tab, it's just, there's no letter on the Galaxy Tab?

• 1:23:20Speaker 01

The Galaxy Tab S. Samsung Galaxy Tab Ultra.

• 1:23:23Speaker 04

  S, super smart.

• 1:23:24David Imel?

They do have a Galaxy Tab S.

• 1:23:26Speaker 01

So the Galaxy Tab Ultra is the one with the S Pen?

• 1:23:29David Imel?

It's the Galaxy Tab WH1000X. Because they're all really bad product names.

• 1:23:34Andrew Manganelli?

Alright, do you want to do the last question, Marquez?

• 1:23:36Speaker 01

Yeah, last question, we should pick a good one.

• 1:23:38David Imel?

We should pick a, you guys have to drop the best question.

• 1:23:41Andrew Manganelli?

We should all sit in silence and pick the best question possible.

• 1:23:43Speaker 01

  Keyboard switches.

• 1:23:45Andrew Manganelli?

  That's not it.

• 1:23:45Speaker 01

  Ioniq 6N.

• 1:23:47Speaker 02

  While we wait.

• 1:23:47David Imel?

What is your guys' best question?

• 1:23:51Speaker 02

I was gonna say the TV show I want to shout out while they pick out a question is Cowboy Bebop. I don't know why it took me so long to watch that. Oh my God, it's so good.

• 1:23:59Speaker 04

Ah, someone said the S stands for stylus.

• 1:24:03Speaker 01

Might as well. At this point, I might as well. Favorite phone color?

• 1:24:07Speaker 02

  No.

• 1:24:07Speaker 01

I have a map like everything shirt on.

• 1:24:09Speaker 02

  So that stands for sexy.

• 1:24:12Speaker 04

The S stands for. Shut up, eh!

• 1:24:15Speaker 01

  That's actually really good.

• 1:24:16Speaker 02

  That's good.

• 1:24:19Speaker 01

Um, yeah. Favorite country? Trying to get me canceled.

• 1:24:25Speaker 02

  Earth.

• 1:24:25Speaker 01

Coffee questionnaire. People are just typing coffee.

• 1:24:28Speaker 04

There've been a lot of James Hoffman shows. I think we should finally address this. Someone asked something that we've been joking about not answering. So, for the longest time, we recorded this show on a device called a Rodecaster, which you can plug four microphones in, and there were five people in this room. And so, Adam and I just shared the mic because we don't have that much to say, you know?

• 1:24:51Speaker 02

  Then.

• 1:24:52Speaker 04

Not anymore. Now we have so much to say. Yeah, right. So then, we upgraded to the Tascam Model 12, which did have an extra input for another mic.

• 1:25:03Speaker 04

But we just thought this was so funny. And so, we're never gonna change it.

• 1:25:07Speaker 01

It's just the way it is.

• 1:25:08Speaker 04

You guys barked heads like five minutes ago, like, pretty hard. No, no, no. That was the $3,000 headphones I'm wearing. Don't worry. Not my $5 skull. But yeah, so it's just hilarious. I think it's part of the fun. Adam and I get to have our faces kind of awkwardly close to each other for colleagues, but that's part of the fun of making a show.

• 1:25:30Speaker 01

I think it's good. I think it's a good, I think it's a great place to end. It kind of reminds me of when I had the Cheerios in the background of MKBHD videos for years. People would ask, "Why are there Cheerios behind you? Why are the Cheerios behind you?" And the real answer is, I actually started making videos in my college dorm in 2000 and...

• 1:25:53Speaker 01

13, 12 or 13. And behind me in the room, there was a microwave. And I was shooting on my Canon T2I and the 1/60 shutter speed just looked really weird with the display with like strobe behind me. And anytime I made a video with a microwave behind me, which it would be in every video, people would comment like, "Yeah, look at the microwave, it's strobing." So I just wanted to put something in front of it to block it so people would stop talking about it. So I started putting a Cheerios box up there. And then I just kept putting a Cheerios box there. And then eventually I moved to a new apartment and I kept putting a Cheerios box behind me and it just stayed behind me. And there was no reason for it to be there. And it could totally have moved, but I just kept putting it there because it just felt right. And that's the truth about a lot of things on YouTube and on this podcast with a single mic and with our setups and with a lot of what we do. It just feels right.

• 1:26:38Speaker 01

And that's just the way it is for now. Enjoy it. Hey, thanks for, thanks for watching. Thanks for listening and tuning in and for, and for dropping a bunch of comments that we could answer. This was really fun. We'll probably do this again sometime, maybe 350, maybe 400. Maybe we'll find a good reason to go live again. But thanks for dealing with us being five whole minutes late.

• 1:26:59Andrew Manganelli?

I think it was like 10. It was a very stressful 10 minutes.

• 1:27:03Speaker 01

  It was a while.

• 1:27:04David Imel?

Hey, if you guys make it to episode 1,000, you might get to see Alison and I test if you can kiss in Vision Pro.

• 1:27:09Speaker 02

Yeah. Nah, 301. See you tomorrow.

• 1:27:13David Imel?

  See you tomorrow.

• 1:27:15Speaker 02

Yeah, the second we get, the second we get a second Vision Pro from Apple, it's going down.

• 1:27:21David Imel?

  Science.

• 1:27:22Andrew Manganelli?

Should we read out? Let's sign out.

• 1:27:24Speaker 02

Read us out and this is going to be a very weird outro because I'm waiting for the lag before I hit it.

• 1:27:30Andrew Manganelli?

Then we all have to wait.

• 1:27:31Speaker 02

  Yeah.
