It's such a hard thing to do. And there was just, every emotion was real on that day. There was nothing about it that was fake. And the hardest part was that I couldn't tell anyone. Oh my gosh. Sorry. I love Finn with my whole heart. And he was my scene partner for 10 years. And saying goodbye to him and that kiss and hug was like, thank you for raising me and helping me with everything. And yeah, I'm forever grateful to the show. I'm very, very grateful.

• 1:05Speaker 02

Prepare your ears, humans. Happy, sad, confused begins.

• 1:12Josh Horowitz?

Hey guys, it's Josh. Welcome to another edition of Happy Sag of Views. Today on the show, Millie Bobby Brown, on the end of Stranger Things, on the continuation of Inola Holmes, on reteaming with David Harbour, and so much more. Thanks guys, as always, for checking out the podcast. Remember to hit that subscribe button on YouTube, on Spotify, wherever you're enjoying this. You know what to do. This is a very cool one. Live event, we taped at 92nd Street Y in New York City. Really, one of the first substantive, big, deep dive conversations with Millie since the end of Stranger Things. You guys know, I'm all about Stranger Things. I've done a ton with the Duffer Brothers, with David Harbour, with Winona. Sadie's been on the podcast.

• 1:55Josh Horowitz?

And yes, I've talked to Millie a thousand times over the years, but she's actually never done the podcast. So this was a great time on the occasion of the release of Inola Holmes 3, which is on Netflix on July 1st. Check it out. Millie, it's like, it sounds like a cliché, but we all have, I have seen Millie grow up before our eyes. Truly, the last decade plus. And to see where she's at now, 22 years old. Married, a mom, producing, acting, writing. It's really, yeah, it's a special thing to see something like this, to go along the journey and to see where these young actors end up.

• 2:37Josh Horowitz?

And the future is very bright for her, very bright in many respects. So I'm so thrilled to get a chance to share this one with all of you guys. Before we do that, I will remind you that patreon.com/happy say confused is your friend and my friend. If you like what I do, you get the early access, you get the discount codes, you get autographed merch, you get opportunities to ask guests questions. I say it every week and I mean it, it helps us make more stuff. And you like the stuff we make, I think. So help us out over there, patreon.com/happy say confused. And it's not just a charity, you get bang for your buck, trust me. Okay, so I'm gonna take you now to this live event. We taped at 92nd Street Y in New York City, Millie and me on stage.

• 3:21Josh Horowitz?

I will say, it got a little emotional and I guess I'm not surprised because the end of Stranger Things, I mean, it's emotional for the audience, let alone for Millie, who literally said goodbye to her childhood with the end of this show. And yeah, it was really, really sweet to see her get emotional, talking about saying goodbye to this chapter of her life and her friends and her family, who of course will remain in her life, but it's different. Of course, it's different now. So this show, I should say, you've probably seen the headlines maybe by now already that came out of this conversation, but nobody, nobody has the video, nobody has the actual conversation, except Happy Say Confused, because we made the damn thing. So here it is for you, for your eyes and ears.

• 4:06Josh Horowitz?

I hope you guys enjoy this. Here's me and Millie Bobby Brown. Hello, hi, everybody. How's it going? Welcome to the 92nd Street Y. My name's Josh Horowitz. I host the podcast called Happy Sad Confused and You're Inside of It. Did you know that? Welcome. Welcome to the podcast. I'm so thrilled that you all are here tonight because as much as I've talked to this young woman over the years, she's never done the podcast and tonight is the night. You're all here for one reason. I'm gonna give her a little bit of an introduction, so hold on, Millie. Millie Bobby Brown. I mean, what can I say? I know it's foolish to like compare ourselves to people at different ages, but I don't know about you, but at 22, I had done nothing.

• 4:47Josh Horowitz?

At 22, Millie, in addition to being a wife, a mom, a real-life Dr. Doolittle, to more animals than I can count, is such an accomplished actor and producer and author. Obviously, she is, will always be 11 from the pop culture phenomenon that was Stranger Things. Yes, you're allowed to clap. Yes.

• 5:10Josh Horowitz?

But we're also celebrating tonight because she is, of course, producer and star of this wonderful franchise that continues in its third installment. We're gonna give you a little sneak peek tonight as the conversation goes. Noah Holmes 3 comes out on Netflix July 1st. I know you're gonna spread the good word. Please make her feel welcome because this is her first time at 92nd Street Y. We want her to come back. It's Millie Bobby Brown, everybody. There she is.

• 5:43Speaker 01

Hi, everyone. Thank you for having me. Oh, my goodness. I'm so happy to be here. What an amazing introduction. Thank you.

• 5:51Josh Horowitz?

Look, I mean, no competition, but Harper's done the podcast five times, so you have a lot.

• 5:56Speaker 01

  Yawn.

• 5:59Speaker 01

  No, I'm, um, five times.

• 6:02Josh Horowitz?

I know. He has nothing else to do.

• 6:03Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 6:03Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah, you're busy. You're a busy lady.

• 6:04Speaker 01

  Precisely.

• 6:06Josh Horowitz?

She's such a busy lady. Can we say where you just came from?

• 6:10Speaker 01

  My baby girl.

• 6:11Josh Horowitz?

No, I was gonna say that.

• 6:12Speaker 01

Oh. She did not want me to leave.

• 6:15Josh Horowitz?

The sweetest baby in the back is there, Millie's. But I was gonna say, the press you just did, you just did a.

• 6:21Speaker 01

Hot Ones. You know, I just did it and guys, my mouth is on fire. So if you see me drinking an abundance of water, it's because of that.

• 6:31Josh Horowitz?

It's crazy. Um, okay, so look, we've talked a lot over the years. It is kind of astonishing when I list kind of all the things that you have done, are doing. Mentally, physically, emotionally, what age do you feel like? Because like, you've packed a lot into 22 years already.

• 6:48Speaker 01

Goodness. Well, online, if you Google it, everybody says I look like a 50 year old.

• 6:53Josh Horowitz?

  Lies.

• 6:54Speaker 01

And honestly, I'm here for that. My mom looks amazing for 50.

• 6:59Speaker 01

Gosh, I feel very much 22.

• 7:02Josh Horowitz?

  Good. Enjoy it. Yes.

• 7:05Speaker 01

I feel 22. I feel like I'm having the best time ever. I just, I'm so blessed, so lucky. I love being a young mom because I'm able to run around and chase after her and, um, you know, I, I love, yeah, I love where I'm at right now. I, I never was the kind of girl to be like out on the town, you know? So it wasn't just in my nature. I love living on my farm. I love, I love sewing. I don't know, something's wrong with me. It must be because I've like, my mom's like, Millie, do you wanna go out to dinner? My mom has more of a great time than I do. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. Like, Summer House is on my TV. I'm embroidering. This is where I wanna be.

• 7:50Speaker 01

So yeah, I, you know, I, I'm very lucky in the place I'm at, but I'm very much 22.

• 7:55Josh Horowitz?

You, you spent, needless to say, a lot of time on sets for the last 10 years.

• 8:00Speaker 01

I was counting. It must be about 13 years.

• 8:04Josh Horowitz?

Yeah, so did you, did you miss on any life skills along the way? Do you feel like because of the nature of your life, you lack any basics that most people learn just in the course of a normal life?

• 8:17Speaker 01

It's a good question. Um, well, I didn't go to public school.

• 8:22Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 8:23Speaker 01

So maybe a bit of socialization. Sometimes when fans come up to me, they'll be like, Millie, and I'll be like, ah! And, uh, and it's not because I've, it's because I'm genuine. I just don't know how to react. Sometimes to people my own age.

• 8:41Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 8:41Speaker 01

I have a harder time because I grew up with primarily men on cruise. Let's change that. But men over forty years old. And so I heard a lot of adult talk growing up and didn't really talk about the things you're meant to talk about as a kid. Because you just hear, you know, you hear, where's the, where's the grip? Let's grab a ladder, you know, and so that's your whole conversation. So I could talk to that person extensively hours about different lens changes and shots. But you, I can't talk about, you know, oh, my God, what bars do you like around this area? I'm like, I don't know. Don't know.

• 9:24Speaker 01

So, so I, I lack a little bit of that. I would say when I met my husband, he's the most social butterfly, the complete opposite stick of me. You know, he went to boarding school and college. So he is like a social butterfly. When I met him, I really tried to lean in more into that. So I'm in my social era.

• 9:43Josh Horowitz?

Well, there's also, and you've talked about this before, like, I mean, social media is so important sadly for all of us. It's how we kind of connect in some ways to the world. And by nature of what you've done, like, there's no worse demographic to be like stuck on social media than like a famous young woman. Like, I can't even like, I have enough trouble.

• 10:02Speaker 01

  It's hell.

• 10:02Josh Horowitz?

Right, right? So what, I mean, and you've had to navigate that and probably like gone on and left social media probably a few times. Has that felt like something that you've cracked? You've figured out like how to maintain some kind of connection to the outside world, yet protect yourself?

• 10:20Speaker 01

I deleted social media in twenty twenty one and I never looked back.

• 10:30Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:32Josh Horowitz?

It was a good for you from the audience, we all agree.

• 10:33Speaker 01

I couldn't do it anymore. Like, I, I tried, but I have a large like digital footprint.

• 10:43Speaker 01

And I thought, you know, there's no need for this anymore. So I needed to hire someone for my mental health to take care of it for me. Somebody who is an expert in social media, who knows what they're doing, who that's, that's literally what they went to school for, right? And I am like, you take care of it. I still want to feel connected to my fans. I still want my fans to know it's my caption. I'm thinking about, you know.

• 11:06Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 11:06Speaker 01

But I don't want to see what people have to say about it.

• 11:09Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 11:09Speaker 01

  Because I don't care.

• 11:11Josh Horowitz?

Do you, are you, yes. This is the healthiest. Good for you. You have a long way before you have to worry about this. But with a young daughter, do you think about that eventually of like screens, social media, all of that? Is that in your head?

• 11:25Speaker 01

Well, there's a TV back there and I said, okay, you can watch Mama, but that's the only screen time we're getting today. I do think about it and I worry because I don't know what life looks like in 15 years. But there's no need for it until she's like six years old, I think.

• 11:46Josh Horowitz?

Yeah. And then Stranger Things and that's it?

• 11:49Speaker 01

No, she doesn't need to watch anything. However, I did show her an Ola Holmes one and, and she wasn't interested at all. And then I said, tis I. And she looked up because I sounded like mom, you know? So yeah, so she liked it. She watched like five minutes and then got completely disinterested. But it was very nice to be able to show her that, you know? All of my childhood is on Netflix.

• 12:17Josh Horowitz?

We need to get her on Letterboxd. We need a review. We need her to.

• 12:19Speaker 01

I just did Letterboxd and I really regret the things that I said on there. You know, I felt really in the moment and pressured.

• 12:26Josh Horowitz?

With the four favorites, that's what you had to do?

• 12:28Speaker 01

Yes, but I went home, I said, why did I say that? I said the most random movies ever. I was very, put under a lot of pressure, but we need to hear her, uh, Letterboxd.

• 12:37Josh Horowitz?

  Definitely.

• 12:45Speaker 00

• 14:04Josh Horowitz?

Okay, so let's talk Annoa Holmes three. Congratulations. So this, I would think, look, I mean, it's one thing to be a part of this ginormous ensemble on Stranger Things, and you're obviously as important a factor in that success as anybody, but you are Annoa Holmes. You are a producer on Annoa Holmes. Do you take a special pride in the success of this series of films that they have a huge audience in their own right? And it's, it's really built very much on your prowess as an actor and producer.

• 14:33Speaker 01

That's very sweet. It's funny because...

• 14:37Speaker 01

You know, I, when I do films, I'm like, you know, I try to bring heroes to life. I try to bring heroes for young girls and boys, but mostly girls because we need more heroes on screen for girls to feel connected and to feel inspired and capable. And I am really proud, you know, back then I'd be like, oh yeah, I'm in Enola Holmes, but like, it's fine, it's just silly, you know, but now I'm like, no, I'm Enola. And I'm really proud to be able to bring that to screen, especially when young girls come up to me and they, they say how much they love her. I would say it's a close second to what people say, you know, oh my gosh, are you 11?

• 15:21Speaker 01

It's a very close second to, oh my gosh, I love Enola Holmes. And then the third being, I really liked this dragon movie you were in, but I can't remember the name of it. Thank you.

• 15:35Josh Horowitz?

  They remember.

• 15:36Speaker 01

But yes, you know, so, so, but people loved the Enola Holmes, you know, and there's so many people that go into building the Enola Holmes world. But yeah, I'm very proud to play her, very honored.

• 15:48Josh Horowitz?

As you can imagine, we're going to take some questions from the audience here in a bit, but we also got some sent in via evil social media, but these are the good ones that sent in some questions. Here's one from MBB Love, maybe that's in honor of you. What Taylor Swift song best describes Enola in Enola Holmes 3?

• 16:05Speaker 01

It's funny, I was doing press with my co-star Louis today and I said, mad woman, Taylor Swift, but it's like, there's nothing like a mad woman, what's the matter with that? And I'm like, that's Enola, that's Enola, she's a mad woman. So is Eudoria. But yeah, it's definitely mad woman, but I'm forever in my Taylor era.

• 16:32Josh Horowitz?

Did you get the invite to the wedding? Are you crashing it? What's the plan?

• 16:36Speaker 01

• 16:36Josh Horowitz?

  Oh.

• 16:39Josh Horowitz?

I didn't expect to hit Pater, maybe, I don't know. So what excited you? Okay, so as you approach a third film, I want to talk about the location and there's some returning actors, some new actors, but what excited you as you approached this third one?

• 16:52Speaker 01

Oh, my goodness, so much. First of all, we're filming in Malta, which I'd never,

• 16:58Speaker 01

never thought we'd ever leave London. So that was really exciting. The whole wedding theme was really exciting because I just got married myself. So I was like, ah, I get to do it all over again. But honestly, I was really excited about Phil Barantini. I don't know, have any of you guys watched Adolescence?

• 17:19Josh Horowitz?

  Oh, amazing, come on.

• 17:20Speaker 01

I mean, the most fantastic director to ever, I obsessed with Phil Barantini, he's a close friend. But when I met him, I was scared. I was like, who's going to direct? You know, we have our, we had our amazing director, Harry Bradbeath, for the first and second. And I was nervous. And the first day I met him, I was like, okay, I really like him. For two weeks into filming, you'd think he's like my brother. I mean, we just connected so much. And he was probably the main reason this film is my favorite. And that I loved the filming so much. He's such a, you know, he's such a collaborator.

• 18:01Josh Horowitz?

And what is, I mean, needless to say, shooting on location, there's no substitute. Malta, like you said, I think the last movie that I remember to date me was Popeye, like 45 years ago.

• 18:12Speaker 01

And we, by the way, we visited that like museum there. Because that was like pretty much the only thing to do. But go to Malta. It was hot. And being in that clothing.

• 18:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 18:26Josh Horowitz?

  Not Malta-friendly.

• 18:27Speaker 01

Not Malta-friendly. Um, so I mean, I had to have like a serious sit down with the production about bringing in more fans and air conditioning tents for the crew. I was, yeah, my, basically my sole job for two months was keeping the crew and cast cool. I just thought about it every single night. Jake was like, Millie, like, I was like, everyone needs to be cool. Like, it is too hot. And I would walk around being like, SPF, SPF, SPF. But yeah, I definitely feel like, um, yeah, Malta was amazing, but it was very hot. And, and an added element of that is you're, you're hot, so you can't focus.

• 19:09Speaker 01

It was like when I filmed Stranger Things, season four in New Mexico. Yep. We were filming in the desert, you know, and I'm trying to focus, but I can't keep my eyes open because the sun and the sand was so bright. And you don't, you, you as a viewer are enjoying it. You're like, ah, and I'm just sat there like, I remember how painful that was to film, you know? So there's so many added environment, like, issues that you can face in a, on a set that you, you'd never think to an audience's eye.

• 19:37Josh Horowitz?

Now, when you watch the film, you can think of the pain that our stars.

• 19:40Speaker 01

  Sweat dripping down my body.

• 19:42Josh Horowitz?

You know what I'm always fascinated by? The falling in love or happy montage and how awkward that might be to film. Is it at all? Am I clocking something or not?

• 19:51Speaker 01

It's funny because I just, I just finished a romance movie called Just Picture It. Very excited for you guys to see that. And it was full of montage moments and you just have to like, love this person.

• 20:05Josh Horowitz?

  So much smiling and laughing.

• 20:06Speaker 01

Like, ah. You just sort of like really fall into it. With Lou, it's so easy because we have such a long friendship and I trust him, he trusts me. And I just said to him, you know, let's play some Lord. So we played Lord and Green Light was basically our song the whole time. And for four minutes, I was just like, let's just play in the set. And so I just grabbed things, hit him. He grabbed a pillow, whacked me over the head. And then they were like, okay, less fighting, more loving? And I was like, oh, okay. And we just had the best time and we danced and it was just a great time.

• 20:48Speaker 01

And they called cut and, you know, Lou and I are just absolutely sweating because it's the height of the summer. And they said that we got everything. It was so great. And we had the, we were like, we could keep going with that. That was so fun. Um, cause sometimes it can get a bit boring with long dialogue scenes where you're saying the same thing for 12 hours. So it was really fun to just kind of let loose and improv.

• 21:09Josh Horowitz?

Yeah. And to be fair, a lot of your career has been spent action, which I want to talk about, but also like not looking happy in a scene.

• 21:17Speaker 01

Oh my gosh. My whole career has been me sobbing, crying.

• 21:20Josh Horowitz?

Right. She's earned some happiness. Um, I mentioned the action, the stunts. You take a lot of pride in that.

• 21:27Speaker 01

  Absolutely. Female Tom Cruise.

• 21:29Josh Horowitz?

So, do you, and do you, do you have a relationship with Tom Cruise? Is he, is he a, is he on speed dial?

• 21:35Speaker 01

He is a dear friend. Yeah.

• 21:36Josh Horowitz?

  That's amazing.

• 21:37Speaker 01

He's, he's a wonderful man and um, very lucky. I'm very lucky to call him my friend.

• 21:42Josh Horowitz?

Why is, are you not like the daughter of Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible?

• 21:46Speaker 01

Let's get it out there. Let's get it out there. But no, Tom, I mean, Tom does like, you know, the craziest stunts and he, I think he's trying to get me to somehow fly a plane at some point. I don't know. I've flown his helicopter before and I was like, this is, that might be the last time I ever fly anything of his uh, equipment. Um, but it's truly like, you know, it's a thrilling experience and I, I just want, oh my gosh, I was like, what's happening here? Oh my gosh. I thought, I thought it was like the theater where we were offering popcorn and sodas again.

• 22:21Speaker 01

But um, I, I, yeah, I, I feel like for me, it's a very thrilling experience to be able to do um, my own stunts. And I don't want young girls to think they can't, you know, and, and another thing, you'll always hear an older actor say, don't do your own stunts. And it's like, okay, I get that. But back in the day, they might've been throwing you against a wall. And now like, if you get a really great stunt coordinator and you learn how to land and you learn the whole technique of it, we as actors should know how to do certain things. Um, I'm not saying take away from any stunt double ever because I want everybody to be in, have a job.

• 22:58Speaker 01

However, I do think it's our job to learn and to adapt and to, you know, for me as an actor, I just, I genuinely feel like I have to learn it so I can feel it and act it. So I try to do ninety percent and the ten percent is probably, you know, in my contract that I'm not allowed, even though I beg.

• 23:18Josh Horowitz?

Is there, so I mentioned someone like Tom, I mean, that's an amazing person to have as a resource. Like, do you have like older actors that like you look to when you have a career or an acting question? Are they like, is like Winona someone you like hit up? Like, who do you hit up? Were those?

• 23:32Speaker 01

Winona, yeah. Winona will text every four months, but the longest message ever, you know. However, Helena Bonham Carter.

• 23:45Speaker 01

My mother. She is there for me whenever I need her and I am very, very grateful to her. Matthew Modine, my godfather.

• 23:57Josh Horowitz?

  That shaded your wedding.

• 23:58Speaker 01

  He officiated my wedding.

• 23:59Josh Horowitz?

It doesn't get much closer than that.

• 24:01Speaker 01

It doesn't, no. And I knew, I knew it from the moment Jake proposed to me that Papa had to, had to do that. And I asked him and then two years later, he said, are you serious about? I said, yeah, we're getting married in a month. You have to come in a month. He's like, wait, what do you mean? I was like, I told you two years. He's like, it was, I thought it was a passing comment.

• 24:19Josh Horowitz?

  How did he do?

• 24:20Speaker 01

Who? He was amazing. Oh, my gosh. His voice is so calming. And he was there when Jake and I first ever met. He was in the room, no one else. So, and I, and I ran up to him and I said, he's so tall and handsome. So he got all of the, the teenage jitters. But what, oh, gosh, I have, I'm very lucky. David Harbour is a great, you know, great person. I like to talk to him. Goodness, I mean, there's, there must be, there must be a lot. I mean, I've had like, you know, I've, I've been able to communicate with people like Leonardo DiCaprio and, you know, when I was young, Natalie Portman was, was, you

• 25:01Speaker 01

know, gosh, she's an icon. So I've been really, really lucky to be surrounded with actors that have just offered their support and love. And now I'm really glad I'm in a place where I'm able to do that to others. Not just actors, but, you know, someone like Owen Cooper. Who's in adolescence. He has my number anytime he needs me, has any questions. He texts me, he's like, hey, am I doing this magazine? Is this like a one I should do? And I'm like, oh, and do what makes you happy. If you're not tired, do it. But if you're tired, don't do it. You know, don't run yourself into the ground and and listen to your parents and and just enjoy it. Um, but don't push yourself. And it's really nice to be able to give advice like that.

• 25:46Josh Horowitz?

It's like you're talking to yourself as a young person, right?

• 25:48Speaker 01

Because that's what the other people were saying to me.

• 25:50Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 25:50Speaker 01

  And I listened, so, yeah.

• 25:52Josh Horowitz?

That's amazing to pass it down to the next, yeah. Um, it's funny, you you you told me in the past, like, I was asking you kind of like the scenes you kind of dread in the in the script. Um, it doesn't spoil anything to say that, uh, I think towards the end of the film, you're in the water. You're a producer on this film. You said you hate water.

• 26:07Speaker 01

  I hate water.

• 26:08Josh Horowitz?

What what are you doing? What are you doing to yourself?

• 26:10Speaker 01

  I don't.

• 26:10Josh Horowitz?

You couldn't have rewritten that one?

• 26:11Speaker 01

  It's so romantic.

• 26:13Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 26:14Speaker 01

I was doing it for the moment.

• 26:15Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 26:15Speaker 01

Um, however, I did complain the whole time.

• 26:18Josh Horowitz?

  (laughing).

• 26:19Speaker 01

Don't get me wrong. The water was, well, when we filmed in the ocean, I was terrified because a week before, a great white shark was spotted in those waters. So and I'm my, if you know me, I have my biggest fear of sharks. So I was just hanging on to Louis the whole time. And by the end of it, he was just underwater because I was just drowning him. Um, and then we were in the pool for some of it. And that was great. And they were like, Millie, get out of the water. I was like, no, I'll just stay in here for my break. Um, but yeah, we had a great time, actually. It wasn't terrible, but it was one day.

• 26:53Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 26:53Speaker 01

I don't want to be the Little Mermaid, doing it for four months, you know?

• 26:57Josh Horowitz?

It's important to know yourself, and you know yourself.

• 27:00Speaker 01

I know myself. I don't do night shoots and I don't do water. So if you're a director and watching this, I'm just probably not your gal.

• 27:07Josh Horowitz?

Unless you're Christopher Nolan or Steven Spielberg. There are exceptions to the rule, I would imagine.

• 27:10Speaker 01

Yes, exactly. Just send me the script.

• 27:12Josh Horowitz?

(laughing). We can work on it together.

• 27:14Speaker 01

I could push myself. We could do dry for wet.

• 27:16Josh Horowitz?

  (laughing).

• 28:56Josh Horowitz?

It's time to talk a little stranger things. Okay, this might get emotional, I don't know. I'm emotional. I can't imagine how you are feeling. I mean, tell me first, like, how did you watch the finale? Did you watch it with friends and family? Did you... what were the circumstances for you?

• 29:12Speaker 01

Good question. I got sent it.

• 29:18Speaker 01

I got sent it at the same time the cast watched it here in New York. Um, I was with my family and I put it on. And I was fine at first. And then we got like halfway through and I was like gulping because I knew we were getting closer to the end. And my family knew, but they didn't know. They didn't know the specifics of what it would look like and how it kind of ended in that way. And then I just bawled for like a month. So the whole of January, I cried and I went into a bit of a slight, slight bit of depression.

• 30:04Speaker 01

It was very hard for me. I, I, I would not have expected that coming a mile off of. The show, I'm a very happy-go-lucky person, like I'm not the kind of girl to, but I cried at everything and um. It was very emotional and also watching my daughter, it was very hard for me to.

• 30:24Speaker 01

You know. Say goodbye to her and now raise like the next generation, but just say goodbye to a part of my childhood. And yeah, I called all the cast over the month of the January. I think they probably thought I was crazy and I was like, we're still friends, right? Like, you're not gonna like stop talking to me anymore, like. Um, and I was like, I'm sorry if I've ever upset you and just trying to like.

• 30:50Speaker 01

Mend anything and. Just because you know, it's been 10 years and like we, and you're just like, I really wanna be friends and I really, you're my sibling. And then I was like on the beach, it was beautiful and I'm just sat there crying. It was a very hard time for me and. No one will ever understand it. Like you guys are sat here like, what are you talking, you know, it's like, I started the show when I was 10. And this character was me. And these people were in my life more than my own family. I saw these people more than going home and being and eating dinner with my family.

• 31:28Speaker 01

So saying goodbye to that after 10 years was a very, very emotional thing and I'm gonna miss 11 more than anything.

• 31:37Josh Horowitz?

I would imagine Noah is returning your texts, I hope Noah is still in your life.

• 31:40Speaker 01

He is, he is. He's just obsessed with my child. So he's like, I'm coming over. She sounds like she needs me.

• 31:49Josh Horowitz?

Did you, again, we talked about social media, but you don't have to have social media to kind of like know what the reaction is, good and bad and everything in between. And the fans have always been very vocal.

• 31:58Speaker 01

  Yeah, so boring. My gosh.

• 32:01Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 32:01Speaker 01

I'm like, guys, come on, just enjoy. Don't be brats.

• 32:06Josh Horowitz?

Were you, did like the whole thing about like, there's another episode, like what did you make of that?

• 32:11Speaker 01

I was like, you guys are so, what is happening? Like, just take it for what it is. Like, also, I don't have time to help you grieve. I'm grieving. Do you know what I mean? Like, I'm like, I don't care. There's no other episode. Shush. Um, so I don't know. People were mentioning that to me and I was like, I don't know what you guys are talking about. Something gate. What was it?

• 32:31Josh Horowitz?

  Oh, yeah. A conformity gate.

• 32:32Speaker 01

I don't even understand what that word even means. I was like, my brother's like, have you heard it? I was like, Charlie, be quiet. I don't care. Um.

• 32:44Speaker 01

Yeah, I did like to, I did kind of was very much like Jake, what's the reaction? Do people think she's dead or alive, you know?

• 32:53Speaker 01

And Jake was like, there's really split. Like, some people are, my whole cast think I'm dead. One, rude.

• 33:00Josh Horowitz?

  They really do.

• 33:00Speaker 01

Like, it's so rude, though. There's something to it, surely.

• 33:04Josh Horowitz?

  They're projecting, no.

• 33:05Speaker 01

You guys are projecting. No, I'm like, okay, guys, all right, we get it. You want me dead. But I was like, you know, believe. Let's have some hope in here. Also, no one knows, other than the Duffer Brothers and me.

• 33:20Josh Horowitz?

That's what they told me. You guys are literally the only ones. It's so much so that they, when I was talking to them, they texted you to remind you not to tell Noah.

• 33:26Speaker 01

I did get that text, yeah.

• 33:27Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 33:28Speaker 01

They were like, do not tell anyone, because we made it a sacred kind of pledge. No one else knows but us three. And what we'll do with that information, it will be up to them.

• 33:40Josh Horowitz?

  But she's alive.

• 33:42Speaker 01

I don't know. But us, my cast, and she's dead.

• 33:47Josh Horowitz?

Let's, let's, I did this with the Duffers when I did one of these events. Who here believes? Let's clap, clap for it. Do you believe Eleven is alive?

• 33:57Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 33:58Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 33:59Speaker 01

  That's like, it's a, I'm, I'm ready for this.

• 34:02Josh Horowitz?

Let's now, who does not believe Elle is gone? Let's clap for it if you believe she's gone.

• 34:10Josh Horowitz?

  That's like eighty, ninety percent.

• 34:11Speaker 01

Oh my gosh, guys, thank you. I have a hopeful audience.

• 34:15Speaker 01

I love that. Thank you, guys.

• 34:18Josh Horowitz?

So what do you tell people when they, because you must be getting questions now.

• 34:21Speaker 01

All people say is, "Do you believe?" And of course I believe.

• 34:25Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 34:26Speaker 01

Of course. I, I hope to believe. It helps me, honestly. I need to believe. Otherwise, January will be back.

• 34:36Josh Horowitz?

I can play this clip or not. I don't want you to be too emotional. But I have the clip of you, you and Finn, towards the end. Can I, can I play that clip? Okay. Let's play this, quite a scene towards the end of Stranger Things.

• 34:47Speaker 04

I need you to help them understand my choice.

• 34:50Josh Horowitz?

  But I don't, I don't understand.

• 34:52Speaker 04

I know. But you will. One day you will.

• 34:59Speaker 04

You understand me. Better than anyone. You always have, from the day we met.

• 35:11Speaker 04

  You've seen me.

• 35:15Speaker 04

  Please don't leave me.

• 35:19Speaker 04

I will always be with you.

• 35:30Josh Horowitz?

I mean, I would imagine it's hard to separate, like, what's, like, what's you and Finn in that scene? And what your characters are going through. Is that safe to say?

• 35:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 35:38Josh Horowitz?

Those tears are as much about saying goodbye to the show.

• 35:41Speaker 01

Yeah, it's all, all about saying goodbye to Finn.

• 35:46Josh Horowitz?

  Sorry for...

• 35:48Speaker 01

It's okay. No, it's such a hard thing to do. And there was just, every emotion was real on that day. There was nothing about it that was fake. And the hardest part was that I couldn't tell anyone. Oh, my gosh. Sorry.

• 36:05Speaker 01

I love Finn with my whole heart. And he was my scene partner for 10 years. And saying goodbye to him and that kiss and hug was like, "Thank you for raising me and helping me with everything." And yeah, I'm forever grateful to the show. I'm very, very grateful.

• 36:32Josh Horowitz?

Now, I'm gonna show you five more scenes at the end. No, I'm not gonna do it.

• 36:36Speaker 01

Oh, my gosh. No, that's the most emotional one. That's the most emotional one. The one, you know, the one with me in the rift is what gets my mum. My mum's as emotional as I am about it. She can't watch it without crying. I think there's a part of 11 that's her daughter, you know? Just like, she'll always remember the shaved head little girl coming home from work.

• 36:54Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 36:55Speaker 01

You know, it's very nostalgic for my whole family. My whole family was there the last day. My whole family was crying. It's, and that, and the other kids' whole families are crying, you know? Because it's like, we're all a big family. It's 200 people that work on something for 10 years. It's very, very emotional.

• 37:13Josh Horowitz?

David, I mean, I love, you know, you and David have such a unique, special relationship to say this.

• 37:18Speaker 01

  Tell me about it.

• 37:21Josh Horowitz?

He said that you guys have talked about potentially working together again in the future. How concrete are those plans?

• 37:28Speaker 01

  Concrete.

• 37:30Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah?

• 37:33Josh Horowitz?

Is there anything to be said about the nature of what kind of a project or what kind of relationship you want to capture on screen with David? Obviously, you want to explore something different, I would imagine, than that relationship you already did, but...

• 37:44Speaker 01

  Father-daughter is where we live.

• 37:48Speaker 01

But Netflix will always be our home.

• 37:50Josh Horowitz?

Okay. Okay. I'll take it. Um, I know the Duffers gave each of the cast members something, mementos going away. What did you keep from the set or what did they give you?

• 38:03Speaker 01

My pink dress from season one. Yeah, I got the, which by the way, I'm already sobbing. I go home and see that. I haven't seen that in 10 years. So the sobbing and my, my husband was like peeling me off of the floor. I was holding on to it. Uh, Converse, my Converse, all my sneakers, that bloody wet suit. Um, and then my, my bald cap from season four. My bracelet, which I gave to Jimmy Fallon. My rings from Mike. I mean, I kept so much, probably things I shouldn't have kept. But I do have this cute little picture of Mike that was next to Elle's bed.

• 38:48Speaker 01

And I just now have a random picture of Finn in my memory box, but I try to take as much as I can.

• 38:53Josh Horowitz?

Good for you. Well done. Um, speaking of Jake, I met Jake backstage. Um, he's only once like you don't really watch a lot of movies. I know he's a big movie guy.

• 39:02Speaker 01

No, he, it's his, his whole life is watching movies. He loves watching movies. He's like the, he watches this all the time. He, he loves you. He's like, oh my God, you're gonna go on the podcast, Millie, talk about films. Come on, talk about, you know, I'm like, okay, I'll talk about all the films I know. Up, Sing, Finding Dory, Finding Nemo.

• 39:23Josh Horowitz?

Have you watched Star Wars yet?

• 39:25Speaker 01

Oh, it's the first thing he made me watch as we started dating.

• 39:28Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 39:28Speaker 01

Uh, he's like, I just, I'm, let me just think about it because I don't know if I'm gonna do, you know, the, the prequels for it. I don't know how I'm gonna set it up for you. Like it was a thing.

• 39:36Josh Horowitz?

So what did you do? What did he?

• 39:37Speaker 01

Uh, I watched the first three. So I did watch it out of order and then recent, like I have now watched it in order.

• 39:43Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 39:44Speaker 01

In order. Um, Natalie Portman. I mean, the thing is, is I was like Jake, like Natalie Portman is like the only thing I love. Like her and Princess Leia, like I, you know, you gravitate to your girl hero, and those were mine. So, um, and Jake was, you know, his favorite movie is Revenge of the Sith. And so for the whole action sequence of that, you know, everybody has to kind of be quiet and let Jake just have his moment. He loves it. Um, yeah, he's a total film nerd. Uh, any new movies are out, he's watching it and he just begs me to watch it.

• 40:15Josh Horowitz?

So are you gonna, is he gonna drag you or not drag you to Spider-Man, The Odyssey?

• 40:20Speaker 01

The Odyssey is already in the books.

• 40:21Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 40:22Speaker 01

He's already put it, he said, Millie, I need you and I have to have a coffee because I typically fall asleep and it's not because of the film, it's because I'm, I'm tired. I'm a mom. Um, however, we are, we booked him for The Odyssey.

• 40:34Josh Horowitz?

Well done. How is the menagerie of animals, the farm back in Georgia? Uh, ten dogs that live in the house, approximately?

• 40:46Speaker 01

Rigby, Winnie, Jimmy, Dorothy. Oh, I've added another one, Trouble.

• 40:52Josh Horowitz?

  Appropriately.

• 40:53Speaker 01

Who was left at the vet by their owner. Um, she got hit by a car. So I got a call on my birthday, it was my vet and they're like, no. And I'm like, oh my God, it's one of my dogs. They're like, no, it's another dog got hit by a car. Can you pay for the surgery and keep the dog? It's like, of course.

• 41:12Josh Horowitz?

Yeah, you're, you're an easy mark. Like, I mean-

• 41:14Speaker 01

Of course. I'm like, all right, do whatever you need to do. And Trouble's here and she's thriving and loving life. And, uh, yeah, she's doing great with her three legs. So we have Trouble and then we have Molly, Barbie, Max, who are my big dogs. I'm definitely missing someone here.

• 41:30Josh Horowitz?

But it's not just dogs, you have-

• 41:32Speaker 01

No, I have, yeah, like ten dogs. But then I have, you know, sheep, pigs, horses, ponies.

• 41:40Speaker 01

  Missing sheep, cows.

• 41:42Josh Horowitz?

  Of course.

• 41:43Speaker 01

Chickens. Yeah, and I love it. I love my animals. They're reproducing. The other day, I went out and I was like, there's a baby goat. And I don't know who just gave birth. And so I'm looking around and I'm like, Cardi B, you gave birth! Okay, and then I'm like, who's the perpetrator? So then you've got to go and find who's getting everyone pregnant. I'm like Eminem. We're getting you in the vet immediately. So, he's been sorted out.

• 42:15Josh Horowitz?

  Yes.

• 42:16Speaker 01

And we've got two gorgeous little goats, baby goats on the farm now. And yeah, we're just loving life. It's the best. And there's nothing more grounding than being with animals and taking care of animals. Like, work with your local shelters, rescue. And if you're ever able to just save an animal, do it. You know, what I love about New York City is I was walking down the street once and I saw a woman performing surgery on a pigeon. And I was like, what are you doing? She's like, it's a pigeon. And I said, but they're like rats here, you know, there's thousands. And what I love is that she saw the life that I saw, which was it's a pigeon, but you save every life. So, if you're ever able to, save every animal and love on them as much as you can.

• 43:01Josh Horowitz?

I totally agree. We have a rescue, just one, I feel like, a poser, but...

• 43:05Speaker 01

  Oh my god, one?

• 43:07Josh Horowitz?

Obsessed. You know my dream is to get you on my dog show.

• 43:10Speaker 01

  Oh my gosh!

• 43:11Josh Horowitz?

  Celebrities and Dogs.

• 43:12Speaker 01

  I would love that!

• 43:14Josh Horowitz?

Who's a good guest? Is the name of the show... Can we book you?

• 43:16Speaker 01

I will be there, no doubt.

• 43:19Josh Horowitz?

I'll come to Georgia. You can never act again, or you can never have a dog. Which do you choose?

• 43:25Speaker 01

Are you joking me? That's a crazy thing to ask!

• 43:33Speaker 01

I mean, I would, I would obviously have to say, never have a dog. Like, my passion is acting.

• 43:39Josh Horowitz?

  Oh.

• 43:40Speaker 01

I love acting. It's just a part of who I am. It's my job. It's my purpose.

• 43:45Josh Horowitz?

You can act with dogs. You can be...

• 43:46Speaker 01

  No, never act with dogs.

• 43:48Josh Horowitz?

  No?

• 43:48Speaker 01

No, god, they're a nightmare to act with. Never. I never like working with animals because they're always pressured into doing stuff. And I'm like, no, no, no working with animals. Let them be. If they wanna go and poo over there, let them go do it. It's not being forced to sit and lay down. No, I, uh, I love being with animals. But, but acting is my... I don't wanna say it's my purpose because being a mom is my purpose. But, but acting has been all I've ever known and I could never give that up.

• 44:18Josh Horowitz?

So where, where are you at as, like, again, you have a lot on your plate. Being a young mom and, and, and, you know, being Dr. Dolittle in Georgia. But you have a lot of opportunities. You're in a rarefied space. Not many, like, 22-year-olds can essentially get a film greenlit. You probably can do a lot, right? Use your power for good. Like, what are you, what are your priorities and the kind of things that you're trying to produce and act in? Where's your head at?

• 44:43Speaker 01

Nineteen Steps, it will be up next, which is a book that I wrote about my grandmother's stories, about World War II. I have my romance movie and I'm slowly developing things at Netflix, my home studio. And just wanting to develop things that feel right for me, feel right for the time in my life. I really wanna try different things. I've always wanted to be in a rom-com, so just picture it's that for me. I'm really excited about that. Nineteen Steps is just like a home project. It's something that

• 45:17Josh Horowitz?

  Personal.

• 45:18Speaker 01

is so personal to me. But yeah, like, I'm down for anything. I love reading scripts and seeing new stuff.

• 45:26Speaker 01

My husband and I develop and produce everything now together. And with his artistic eye, I just kind of follow his lead in terms of scripts. And then I'll sometimes say, oh my god, like, I just read this article and I feel like we should do something. And he does the same thing. So we just collaborate and talk late at night about, like, okay, what's... What's missing? What do I want to see? What do you want to see? What's missing? And so we just talk and we're in a very lucky space where we're able to develop and create and collaborate together.

• 45:57Josh Horowitz?

Is Prism something that's potentially still for Netflix, this like ghost?

• 46:02Speaker 01

I think it's, yeah, it's somewhere in the world. I think what's crazy is that we're, the schedule is insane. And it's just placing things in the right place for my time, like for my time and my schedule. But the David Harbour project is sooner than expected, I think.

• 46:23Josh Horowitz?

And this is not something we've heard about. This is-

• 46:25Speaker 01

  Never.

• 46:26Josh Horowitz?

  Until now.

• 46:26Speaker 01

It's David's idea. So kudos to him.

• 46:29Josh Horowitz?

Love it. I'm so excited. Okay. I mean, it sounds like the experience is as important as anything to you of making films. And you've learned that from doing the hard work and seeing different kinds of sets, I would imagine. And now being like number one for a lot of your projects, most of your projects, frankly. What's the environment you're trying to establish on a set? What's most important to you?

• 46:50Speaker 01

I don't tolerate any bullying. I don't tolerate any negativity. I have been in situations like that before. And I only tolerate positivity, love, friendship, kindness, trust, communication.

• 47:12Speaker 01

And I just will stop people in their tracks if I see, if I see that any, you know, I'll just take them to the side and this isn't, this isn't working.

• 47:19Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 47:20Speaker 01

  You know?

• 47:20Josh Horowitz?

  Life is too short to-

• 47:22Speaker 01

Yeah, it's just, we're not doing anything crazy here. We're playing pretend, for goodness sake. My daughter plays pretend. This is meant to be fun. We're meant to enjoy ourselves. We're doing this to inspire people, you know? Let's not, let's not, let's not yell or be upset or dwell on something that's very, very small and minor. Yes, we're losing light, but let's live in the moment. Let's, you know, I have like, you have 15 minutes left. This could be where we get something special. Let's not whine about it. Let's enjoy the moment and seize the moment and act, which is what we're meant to do.

• 47:54Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 47:55Speaker 01

So I try to just keep it a very positive, exciting place to be.

• 47:58Josh Horowitz?

What are the biggest highs you feel on a set? Like is it-

• 48:02Speaker 01

Oh, I love when we're losing light.

• 48:04Josh Horowitz?

  And you're like, you know.

• 48:05Speaker 01

And everybody's got to hurry up because you're like, quickly, nobody forget their lines. Those moments are really fun. I just love logistics too, you know, oh, somebody's traveling. So now we've got, who are we going to bring in to do this scene? And oh, it's raining. So we don't have a studio, so we're going to have to do, you know, I love all of that. I love building. I'm really heavy into the production.

• 48:27Josh Horowitz?

I'm sure the obvious question, three and out or is there more in Noel Holmes than you? Would you like to continue this character?

• 48:33Speaker 01

  I mean, I love Netflix.

• 48:37Josh Horowitz?

  If they're there, you're there?

• 48:39Speaker 01

Of course, I'll always be there for her.

• 48:41Josh Horowitz?

Is, again, an insane amount on your plate, is theater at all interest to you at some point? Not really.

• 48:47Speaker 01

  Not right now.

• 48:47Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 48:48Speaker 01

  Not right now.

• 48:49Josh Horowitz?

  Just getting started.

• 48:50Speaker 01

I just am not really interested in theater yet, you know? I have a lot of admiration for people that are interested in it. And I enjoy theater so much, especially musical theater. But in my world right now, I don't think I'm in that place, but that could very much change. And maybe the thing that brings me into it could be the thing that I absolutely adore. I just haven't seen that yet.

• 49:12Josh Horowitz?

So we talked about films that Jake wanted to expose you to, vice versa, film, TV. Like what's, if you're in control of the remote.

• 49:21Speaker 01

  Love Island.

• 49:22Josh Horowitz?

Yeah, obviously, obviously, important stuff, yeah.

• 49:25Speaker 01

And then he's like, Millie, I can't, I don't care about these people.

• 49:31Speaker 01

And I'm like, well, I do. And they just broke up, but you know. Yeah, I'm a reality TV snob. I mean, I just watch every show out there. And, and the reason why is because my whole life is about drama and I don't believe anything. You know, when you watch something as an actor, you're just like, what did they have to go through? Where did they film this? Is that a boom mic?

• 49:51Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 49:52Speaker 01

You know, oh, that was, I don't think they should have cut to that, you know? That's just how I think. I don't really get to really love it the way I think others do. Um, and so for me, reality is just a sloppy mess.

• 50:04Josh Horowitz?

You're not gonna be on Love Island, I think, for various reasons anytime soon, but but any reality you daydream about like, I want to be on the traitor, so.

• 50:12Speaker 01

Oh, my gosh, I so want to be on the traitors, Josh. You've just touched a nerve.

• 50:17Josh Horowitz?

  Apparently.

• 50:18Speaker 01

I want to be on the traitors because I think I'd be really good. Do you know why? I did a lie detector test today with Vanity Fair. With Louis, and he put me on the spot and the guy was like, for some reason, Louis was like sweating during the whole thing and could not lie. And then he said, for some reason, like, her hands are getting cooler and she's evading the questions and somehow like, the reporters come back like, she's a pathological.

• 50:49Speaker 01

They were like, I think she's crazy.

• 50:52Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah.

• 50:53Speaker 01

But yeah, but apparently so, I mean.

• 50:55Josh Horowitz?

Pulse never went up, it was just a flat line.

• 50:57Speaker 01

They were just like, and then I did lie a lot and he was like, have I have you lied and they haven't caught you? And I'm like, yeah. It's crazy. So, I mean, I don't know. Where, how did we get here?

• 51:10Josh Horowitz?

  Traitors.

• 51:11Speaker 01

Oh, yeah. So I'm gonna be a great traitor.

• 51:14Josh Horowitz?

We can make this happen, I think.

• 51:15Speaker 01

Let's put it out there, but I want to be on the UK one.

• 51:17Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 51:19Speaker 01

Wait, which one's the one with Alan Cumming?

• 51:21Josh Horowitz?

  That's the US, isn't it?

• 51:23Speaker 01

Oh, then US. I want to be with Alan Cumming, he's so fabulous.

• 51:27Josh Horowitz?

He's amazing. Um, okay, we end every Happy Sex Confused with the profoundly random questions. You ready for these?

• 51:33Speaker 01

  I'm scared. Okay.

• 51:33Josh Horowitz?

  I'm scared.

• 51:34Speaker 01

Okay. I just had a crazy day, like, lie detector, Hot Ones, like, I'm scared.

• 51:38Josh Horowitz?

  Final test.

• 51:39Speaker 01

Do you know what I mean? It's like, it's like crazy.

• 51:42Josh Horowitz?

It's not gonna be as challenging as Hot Ones or lie detector test. Uh, dogs or cats?

• 51:46Speaker 01

Dogs. But I do love my cats. Yeah.

• 51:50Josh Horowitz?

  What do you collect?

• 51:54Speaker 01

  Fabric?

• 51:55Josh Horowitz?

  Fabric.

• 51:56Speaker 01

I like to collect fabric from Joanne's and Michael's.

• 52:00Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 52:00Speaker 01

And I do get a little bit annoyed with the people cutting the yard sometime. I'm like, one yard, two yards, and they always huff and puff, because I do collect a lot of fabric, so I'm like, two yards of that, one yard, and they're just like, oh, here she comes again. And I'm like, I like to make stuff, and they're not always great things, but I just sit there for hours and do it.

• 52:17Josh Horowitz?

Love it. Favorite video game of all time?

• 52:20Speaker 01

  GTA.

• 52:23Speaker 01

I'm so excited for the new GTA.

• 52:25Josh Horowitz?

I had no idea. This was a passion.

• 52:26Speaker 01

  It's a passion.

• 52:27Josh Horowitz?

You're just like, entering that horrible world and wreaking havoc?

• 52:31Speaker 01

My husband was, no, no, no, I follow the rules in GTA.

• 52:34Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 52:34Speaker 01

  I don't break the rules.

• 52:35Josh Horowitz?

  Sorry.

• 52:36Speaker 01

I stop at the red lights, I never run anyone over.

• 52:39Josh Horowitz?

  Oh.

• 52:40Speaker 01

No, I'm, my husband's, why are you playing this like it's Sims?

• 52:44Josh Horowitz?

  Right.

• 52:45Speaker 01

I'm like, I'm gonna go to the strip club, but I'm not going to get drunk. You know, like, I just am very, very good.

• 52:52Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah, everybody calm down.

• 52:53Speaker 01

Absolutely. I'm gonna go and do my job.

• 52:55Josh Horowitz?

  [laughing]

• 52:56Speaker 01

And it's like, you know, I'm still a hitman, and I'm like, I'm not a hitman. I'm help, I'm a vigilante. I'm just trying to make it, but I'm so excited about the new one. I think it really took my husband by surprise when we first started it. He was like, okay?

• 53:08Josh Horowitz?

Yeah, we're all surprised, I think, here.

• 53:10Speaker 01

Yeah, I know, I've never said that publicly.

• 53:12Josh Horowitz?

Exclusive. Dakota Johnson asked me this, I ask everybody, would you rather have a mouthful of bees or one bee in your butt?

• 53:21Speaker 01

  One in my butt?

• 53:22Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 53:24Speaker 01

  I think?

• 53:24Josh Horowitz?

I think that's the consensus, yeah.

• 53:26Speaker 01

  Did you say that, too?

• 53:27Josh Horowitz?

I would say it if I was asked that, and most people do say that.

• 53:30Speaker 01

  Okay, good.

• 53:31Josh Horowitz?

Yeah, so. What's the wallpaper on your phone?

• 53:36Speaker 01

  My baby.

• 53:38Josh Horowitz?

Last actor you were mistaken for? Does it ever happen?

• 53:41Speaker 01

Oh, my gosh, Louis said today I look like Emma Roberts.

• 53:45Josh Horowitz?

  Oh, okay.

• 53:46Speaker 01

I mean, I wasn't mistaken for it, but I was like, oh, I've never gotten that before. She's a stunning girl, but Natalie Portman, like, I get, like, a lot, but nobody ever says, oh, my God, are you Natalie Portman? I would actually fall on the floor and die. But people are like, oh, my God, you really look like Natalie Portman, or like, sometimes Keira Knightley, like, I don't know, yeah.

• 54:04Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 54:04Speaker 01

  I have to take it.

• 54:06Josh Horowitz?

Good group to be in. Worst noted director has ever given you?

• 54:10Speaker 01

I have a notes thing of my, uh,

• 54:13Josh Horowitz?

  Reflection?

• 54:14Speaker 01

That have said crazy things to me.

• 54:15Josh Horowitz?

  Oh.

• 54:16Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 54:16Josh Horowitz?

We want to pop this out, yeah.

• 54:17Speaker 01

And I think, I don't know what the head of it, it's like... Oh my gosh, it's like Direct Directors. That's what the Notes app is called, Direct Directors, and I have the quotes of some of the most hilarious things Directors have said to me.

• 54:30Josh Horowitz?

  Give me one or two.

• 54:31Speaker 01

Oh my god, truly, they would never work again.

• 54:37Speaker 01

They would never, no, no, absolutely not. They, you know, sometimes people are, I'm just like, what does that even mean? No, you know what, the Duffers, they're not on that. They do say funny stuff, though, but the Duffers will be like, "Okay, Millie, I really like that take, but can we do like thirty percent less of that, but forty percent more of the excitement, but then like fifty percent more on pace?" And I'm like, "Okay," because after ten years, you understand what that means. But when people come to set and visit me, they're like, "What was that note?" And I'm like, "It's their notes. They just talk in that way."

• 55:10Josh Horowitz?

Yeah, you, you, there's a dial on your back where you can just toggle up.

• 55:16Josh Horowitz?

  She's still got it, guys.

• 55:20Josh Horowitz?

And finally, in the spirit of Happy Second Fuse, who's an actor who always makes you happy, you see them on screen, you're just in a better mood.

• 55:27Speaker 01

Oh my gosh, I've never been asked that. Um, who do I love? Oh my god, my mind has gone completely.

• 55:36Josh Horowitz?

That's okay. Well, we had Natalie Portman, but like.

• 55:38Speaker 01

  I love Natalie.

• 55:39Josh Horowitz?

On a comedic, it's like they're like the.

• 55:40Speaker 01

  Oh, Amy Poehler.

• 55:42Josh Horowitz?

  Amy Poehler, of course.

• 55:43Speaker 01

Amy Poehler, I really want to go on her podcast.

• 55:45Josh Horowitz?

  Yes.

• 55:46Speaker 01

Amy Poehler makes me like die laughing. Melissa McCarthy, I love Rose Byrne. Yeah, those, those girls are just insane, insanely funny, insanely witty, and they always bring a smile to everyone's face.

• 56:02Josh Horowitz?

  Movie that makes you sad?

• 56:06Speaker 01

  Up.

• 56:07Josh Horowitz?

  Yeah, the first twenty.

• 56:08Speaker 01

Devastating. It's like, oh my god, we can't show children this.

• 56:13Josh Horowitz?

Yeah, it's a lot. And finally, a food that makes you confused.

• 56:19Speaker 01

  Quinoa.

• 56:20Josh Horowitz?

  Oh, okay.

• 56:22Speaker 01

It's going around because I say, I say in this interview, I can't see the quinoa and it's covered. And then I say, it smells like a vegan. And then I open it, I go, oh, quinoa. And everybody's like, Millie, it's like a hating on the vegan community. And I'm like, I'm not. It's what you eat. Like, but I just, it's not you, it's just the food. But I just don't like quinoa.

• 56:43Josh Horowitz?

  That's okay.

• 56:44Speaker 01

I don't like quinoa. Or like, um, what's the alternative?

• 56:47Josh Horowitz?

Um, like in the grain realm, like there's like couscous.

• 56:50Speaker 01

Yeah, couscous. I hate couscous. I hate cake. Okay, that's it.

• 56:55Speaker 01

So sorry. But on my birthday, everybody gives me cake and I hate cake.

• 56:58Josh Horowitz?

  You hate cake?

• 56:59Speaker 01

  I love brownies.

• 57:00Josh Horowitz?

  Okay.

• 57:01Speaker 01

And actually, on this film, circling back, that's all I ate were brownies. Avocado, sugarless brownies, but had the best, oh my gosh, it was like the best ever. And Louis always came into my trailer and stole them.

• 57:13Josh Horowitz?

Well, if for no other reason, more in all homes, so Millie can have more avocado oil brownies.

• 57:17Speaker 01

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

• 57:19Josh Horowitz?

Um, I know you guys are going to support this film. It drops on Netflix July 1st. Please spread the good word and give it up one more time for the one and only, it's Millie Bobby Brown, everybody.

• 57:39Speaker 05
