Chiefs Magic, Bird Bowl & Bill Murray on Iconic Career, Best SNL Host, Prank Calls & More | Ep 113

92%ers, we are back with another episode of New Heights presented by our friends at Google TV. No more endless browsing. Google TV makes it easy to find what to watch. In this episode, we are joined by an incredible guest, Ernie McCracken himself, Bill Murray. Before we sit down with Bill, we answer a celebrity voicemail demanding we review a specific movie for Christmas, Travis breaks down the controversial ending of the Chiefs Black Friday game against the Raiders, and Jason shares his thoughts on the Eagles continuing their hot streak against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. Finally, we sit down with Bill Murray and talk about everything from his favorite golf partners, what it was like growing up in the Murray household, how a “cat lady” got him started in improv, the early days of SNL, his surprise pick for best host of all time, the worst thing he’s ever said on camera, and why he’s still making prank calls about “Road House.” You can listen to new episodes early and ad-free on Wondery+. The wrongs we must right, the fights we must win, the future we must secure together for our nation. This is what's in front of us. This determines what's next for all of us. We are Marines. We were made for this.

They say everything happens for a reason, but I suspect everything happens for a Reese's. Like this commercial break. Did you need 15 seconds away from music? Or 15 seconds to eat a Reese's? Perhaps it's true. Everything happens for a Reese's.

Welcome back to New Heights, ladies and gentlemen of Wondery Show, produced by Wave Sports and Entertainment and brought to you by Google TV this time. How about it? Switching it up on you, keeping on your toes. Hey, no more endless browsing. Google TV makes it easy to find what to watch.

• 3:02Speaker 03

Thank God. I suck at finding things to watch. How many, how many hours do you waste?

• 3:09Travis Kelce?

Just I will literally get up. I'll get up off the TV. I'll just get up off the couch. But this is fucking too much. I am fucking done with this, this scrolling and this fucking nonsense that's coming across my TV. Why are you force feeding me shit? I don't even want to know that's on TV.

• 3:26Speaker 03

There's just too much to choose from. Like there's, what's that? Isn't there like a consumer theory or something like that where like the, if you have too many choices, it becomes harder to make a decision. So you actually want less choices because it's easier to make a choice. I think that's a thing. There's like a whole.

• 3:39Travis Kelce?

Somebody went to college. We're your fucking hosts. I'm Travis Kelce. He's my big brother, Jason Kelce out of University of Cincinnati, Ohio. How about it? Go Bearcats, even though we're officially not in.

• 3:52Speaker 03

Greg, shut the hell up. We're trying to do this episode.

• 3:55Travis Kelce?

Shout out to Cincinnati, even though, uh, I don't think we're going to be ball eligible. We've been sitting at the, uh, five wins.

• 4:03Speaker 03

  Basketball's playing Villanova right now.

• 4:06Travis Kelce?

How about it, baby? Hopefully, we're getting the dub there. Shout out to the cats. Subscribe on YouTube or Wondry Plus, wherever you get your podcasts and follow the show on all social media. Add New Heights Show with one S. Jason, why don't you tell the people? We got an exciting one this time.

• 4:20Speaker 03

No, I mean, this is, this is probably the most exciting episode we may have ever done. This was electric. We got an incredible episode for you guys. You're not going to want to miss this one. We're going to talk about the Chiefs' Black Friday nail biter, the Eagles winning the Bird Bowl. But first, uh, we're going to get in some a little bit of that new, new, well, actually, before we get into that, we have an incredible guest waiting for you guys. They're probably going to put out a promo, so I don't even have to act like it's a surprise at this point. Yeah, uh, we have Bill Murray. Fucking Bill Murray is coming on New Heights, and you're going to hear him talk about some incredible stories from his, uh, childhood, time at SNL, movie career, bigger and McCracken. You're not going to want to miss any of this.

• 5:01Travis Kelce?

I mean, the guy is just as smooth as fucking the other side of the pillow.

• 5:05Speaker 03

Yeah, we're going to make sure to put it at the end of the episode, so you guys have to watch this entire beginning portion. So, uh, first, we're going to get a little bit of that new news.

• 5:15Speaker 03

That's right. New News is brought to you by ESPN on Disney Plus. Hey, is that some type of like sports network? Anyways, not getting enough of me? Uh, well, ESPN is now on Disney Plus. That's right. Not getting enough of me?

• 5:29Travis Kelce?

Can never get enough of Jason.

• 5:31Speaker 03

Not only do they have animated movies, classic Disney films, uh, they know of sports. Truly something the whole family can enjoy.

• 5:40Travis Kelce?

  How about it?

• 5:41Speaker 03

I can't tell you how much of my time is spent on Disney Plus, and I think we've seen every Disney movie at least five times now.

• 5:49Travis Kelce?

  Nice.

• 5:49Speaker 03

Also, starting December 4th, uh, you can head to homage.com. That's homage, H-O-M-A-G-E.com/NewHeights to order our new limited edition holiday merch. That's right. Order by December 9th. That's right, and you can get it by Christmas. That's for that section. Uh, this is also not really new news. Not really new news, but we have received a demand about what our next film club movie should be by a celebrity mystery fan. Travis and I have not heard this. Intern Brandon and Jets Jake, or who screens these voicemails? Just so I know. How many voicemails do you listen to on average a week?

• 6:28Speaker 04

We are up to 735 unlistened to voicemails.

• 6:32Speaker 03

So how many listened to voicemails?

• 6:34Travis Kelce?

  So nobody listens to these.

• 6:35Speaker 04

  30.

• 6:37Speaker 03

  Brandon.

• 6:38Speaker 04

I'm trying. They won't stop calling. They text now too.

• 6:43Speaker 03

For those of you that haven't heard, we have 730 unread voicemails, which is similar to probably what I have in my voicemail.

• 6:49Travis Kelce?

Because who does voicemails anymore? Everybody texts.

• 6:52Speaker 03

  I don't listen to voicemails.

• 6:53Travis Kelce?

Do a voice memo. I don't want to fucking go into my voicemail box and fucking get some shit. But if you guys want to keep sending in your, uh, your Heights hotline voicemails, I'm sure we'll eventually get to them.

• 7:05Speaker 03

Intern Brandon will get to them before he dies, hopefully. All right.

• 7:08Travis Kelce?

Let's get, let's get to this one.

• 7:09Speaker 03

Can we hear this mystery one, please?

• 7:11Travis Kelce?

  Play this one.

• 7:11Speaker 05

  Hello. I'm just calling because

• 7:14Speaker 03

  I know that voice.

• 7:15Speaker 05

  I, I don't have a need for relationship advice.

• 7:22Speaker 03

I can give you a reason to do this, Kyle.

• 7:24Speaker 05

But, um, what I do need is to nominate a movie for the next movie review. I think it's the holiday season and that

• 7:37Speaker 03

if it's not Jumanji, I'm gonna be so mad. Love Actually?

• 7:40Speaker 05

That you could really sit down with your significant others and enjoy.

• 7:45Travis Kelce?

  Love Actually.

• 7:48Speaker 05

Because it's not like one of your significant others hasn't asked you to watch it multiple times and you send it every time. So this would be a great excuse to get you to watch it. Okay. I hope you take this into consideration. You guys are great. Love you. Bye.

• 8:02Speaker 03

Love you too, Kai. Alright, well.

• 8:04Travis Kelce?

  That was Kylie.

• 8:05Speaker 03

That was Kylie. I know that voice.

• 8:07Travis Kelce?

I didn't, yeah, I haven't heard her voice over the phone, so.

• 8:10Speaker 03

Yeah, it's a little bit different. Love Actually, is that what Gerard Butler, is that what that one is?

• 8:15Travis Kelce?

Uh, no, we got Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Neeson, sorry.

• 8:19Speaker 03

Liam Neeson? Is it like a Taken film?

• 8:21Speaker 04

  Not even close.

• 8:22Speaker 03

No? I would have been in if it was like Taken.

• 8:25Travis Kelce?

  Oh, Mr. Bean?

• 8:26Speaker 03

  Mr. Bean?

• 8:27Travis Kelce?

  No way. Rowan Atkinson? Nice.

• 8:31Speaker 03

I think we can both probably agree, we're not doing Love Actually.

• 8:35Travis Kelce?

Yeah, probably not. I'll do like a really good Christmas movie, though.

• 8:38Speaker 03

Alright, we'll open it to a fan vote, as always.

• 8:41Travis Kelce?

Yeah, we'll do a fan vote.

• 8:42Speaker 03

There's no favoritism played here, even for my own wife. Please submit your favorite holiday films. And just for the record, before millions of moronic people submit Die Hard, Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. We will not be doing Die Hard. But yeah, any other Christmas film which is in the spirit of Christmas or the holidays, doesn't have to be Christmas. I mean, I like Eight Crazy Nights, a great movie. We will review it, and we look forward to it.

• 9:09Speaker 04

  They dropped you one note.

• 9:10Speaker 03

  You dropped me a note?

• 9:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 9:12Speaker 03

Oh, Kylie said she would come on if we did Love Actually. Um, does that change anything?

• 9:20Travis Kelce?

I don't think it really changes how we feel about it.

• 9:27Speaker 03

She has her own podcast now. She can just do Love Actually, right? What do we, what does she need us to do Love Actually for?

• 9:33Travis Kelce?

Yeah, Kai, why don't you do Love Actually and then put it on Not Gonna Lie?

• 9:38Speaker 03

There you go. How about, how about I come on Not Gonna Lie? And we can do a movie review of Love Actually?

• 9:43Travis Kelce?

Yeah, don't fucking torture me. Torture your husband.

• 9:45Speaker 03

Travis is not a part of this. This is not fair to Travis.

• 9:48Travis Kelce?

Kai, don't fucking come for me.

• 9:53Speaker 03

Well, you know Hugh Grant. It's not even gonna hit the same. You guys are like best buds now.

• 9:57Travis Kelce?

I'm not gonna lie, though. I've.

• 9:58Speaker 03

You do tequila shots with Reggie.

• 9:59Travis Kelce?

I've watched like two or three movies with Hugh in it since, and I fucking love all of them. He's just, there's something about knowing the guy, man.

• 10:06Speaker 03

Yeah, it makes you like it more?

• 10:07Travis Kelce?

Yeah, I think so. Either that or I think.

• 10:09Speaker 03

Should we do Love Actually? Now you're talking me into it.

• 10:13Travis Kelce?

I don't, I never said we wouldn't enjoy the movie. I just said I don't wanna review it.

• 10:17Speaker 03

  Okay, that's fair.

• 10:20Speaker 03

Intern Brandon has given me a lot of side eye right now.

• 10:22Speaker 04

  Just, just do it.

• 10:24Travis Kelce?

  Just do what?

• 10:25Speaker 04

  That's highly on to movie.

• 10:28Travis Kelce?

I know what you're trying to do, Brandon.

• 10:30Speaker 03

Yeah, everybody knows what he's doing.

• 10:38Speaker 03

How about this? But I'm gonna, I'm gonna offer a barter system.

• 10:41Travis Kelce?

  We'll do two.

• 10:42Speaker 03

We'll do a double movie review episode.

• 10:46Travis Kelce?

So Brandon gets what he wants.

• 10:48Speaker 03

So Brandon gets what he wants. We'll do Love Actually. We'll do a fan, because I don't want to, I think the fans should have some say in this voting procedure.

• 10:55Travis Kelce?

  No, 100%.

• 10:55Speaker 03

For the film club. That's the whole point of this.

• 10:57Travis Kelce?

That's the fucking point of it. Yeah.

• 10:58Speaker 03

Yeah. We're gonna do Love Actually and another film that you guys will vote on and tell us which holiday film you guys would like us to review. Again, new news brought to you by ESPN on Disney Plus.

• 11:11Travis Kelce?

  Jason Kelce, ESPN.

• 11:14Speaker 03

Did you actually think that the show was good? You were watching Monday night. You were giving me.

• 11:17Travis Kelce?

Dude, I was fucking dying laughing.

• 11:18Speaker 03

I love getting texts mid, yeah.

• 11:20Travis Kelce?

  I was dying.

• 11:21Speaker 03

You're laughing with me though, right? Not at me, right?

• 11:23Travis Kelce?

Fuck yeah. I mean, that's, life is laughing at Jason Kelce, but you laugh with everyone when they laugh at you, so.

• 11:29Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 11:30Travis Kelce?

  It's perfect.

• 11:31Speaker 03

Alrighty, let's move on to, uh, maybe something that we can find some laughing with while we're doing it. And that's a bold topic to wrap up week 13, which really because of the bill, because of Bill, we're only gonna get into the Chiefs and Eagles. We're not gonna get into too much of the NFL landscape this week because we're gonna get right to the stuff that we think is gonna be highly entertaining. But we will, uh, give you a little Chiefs recap. Travis, you faced off against the Raiders and, uh, you guys snuck out the victory. It was tight. Uh, there was some end of game shenanigans, which I think all of Twitter was, uh, debating back and forth on what happened. And I don't think anybody really fully knows exactly what happened, but.

• 12:11Travis Kelce?

I know exactly what happened. What do you mean?

• 12:13Speaker 03

Alright, well, the Chiefs won 19 to 17. We know that.

• 12:17Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 12:18Speaker 03

There was a end of game procedure. I guess we'll get right into that. It's not the start of this, but we'll just talk about it. End of game procedure, O'Connell receives the snap, doesn't know the snap is coming, fumble. There's a flag on the play. One official is running into the frame, clearly signaling false start and the officials convene, decide to say it's illegal procedure or snap infraction? How do they say it?

• 12:41Travis Kelce?

No, it's illegal, uh, what do you call it? It's like, um,

• 12:44Speaker 03

It's like, some people are in motion, right?

• 12:46Travis Kelce?

Illegal formation. That's what it is. It's not, it wasn't a false start. It's not like everyone got set and somebody jumped off sides.

• 12:53Speaker 03

  I agree.

• 12:54Travis Kelce?

It was the entire team wasn't set and because of that, the play then goes on and it does, the, the play doesn't stop right there on the snap like a false start would.

• 13:05Speaker 03

So, yeah, for, for those of you that don't know, false start is not an accept or decline penalty. If there's a false start, the play never existed. It's blown dead right away. So this is why there's a controversy because there is one official running on the field, one of the side judges who is signaling false start.

• 13:23Travis Kelce?

He's signaling the, the false start, which is this, that when they talked about it, they realized that it wasn't a false start.

• 13:30Speaker 03

I agree. It's not a false start. The one way you can say it's a false start though, the center never gets set.

• 13:36Travis Kelce?

What? The center is set. His hand is on the ball.

• 13:38Speaker 03

Yeah, but he's moving his head. Alright.

• 13:41Travis Kelce?

Now the center can't move his head?

• 13:43Speaker 03

  So because, actually.

• 13:44Travis Kelce?

  His head wasn't even moving.

• 13:46Speaker 03

Nevermind. I changed, I changed my, I changed my mind. I retract, I retract. I thought he did like the little, uh, deal with his head.

• 13:53Travis Kelce?

It is what it is and I'm not pointing blame on anybody. You can't put that kind of call into the refs' hands. It is what it is. And I'm, and I don't think you, you know what I mean? If you're the Raiders, you don't do it because we get all the calls. You just never want to put a fucking, be in position where you're relying on the refs to make a call, whether it's right call or wrong call, a call, uh, that takes the ball away from you or, or, or ruins your chances of winning. And it just, it is what it is, you know? I've, I've been in situations where I've put it in the refs' hands and I've come up, you know, empty handed like that as well.

• 14:26Speaker 03

I agree. I think that that's not a false start based on what I just saw. And they got, and they got the call right. But for those of you that don't know, O'Connell talked about this. Why did the snap happen in the first place? There's a little bit of miscommunication. The Raiders are on what we call silent count. Brandon, interim Brandon, can you bring up that clip again? Whenever you're ready, interim Brandon?

• 14:50Speaker 03

Jesus Christ. We gotta get some new interns. Come on, bud.

• 14:53Speaker 04

  A lot of stuff.

• 14:56Speaker 03

So pause it right here. When the, when the guard goes to tap the center. Pause it. So you see the guard look back and he taps the center. When you're on silent count, that tells the center, it's on the guard to tell the center when the quarterback is ready for the ball. Typically, the guard gets an indicator from the quarterback. What happens here is O'Connell is clapping his hands to try and get people lined up. When the quarterback claps his hands is another cue for most teams on silent count to, the play clock is going down, or there's an unguarded receiver, hurry up and snap the ball. So the guard thinks we're trying to go quickly. O'Connell's just trying to get people lined up. All of a sudden,

• 15:36Speaker 03

there's a snap when he's not ready for it. And we have the ensuing fumble recovery and game clinching fumble recovery for the Kansas City Chiefs. Pretty critical error, and it's unfortunate. I kind of joked on Twitter, like, this is one thing I don't miss about playing center. These little procedure things come up so much, and it's, regardless of whose fault it is, it's so infuriating.

• 15:59Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 16:00Speaker 03

When something like this results in a seriously negative play, and something like this actually costing them the game, because let's face it, if they don't fumble the ball, they're in field goal range. They're going to get an opportunity to at least kick a field goal to win the game. So it's just, you know, it sucks for these guys. This is, you know, one of the things about playing, we've seen it with Chicago Bears, you know, teams that are good teams don't make these mistakes, especially in critical moments. This is something that the Chiefs have been unbelievable with. And it's a big reason why you guys have only lost one game, is that you guys just are very, very smart in the most critical moments of it.

• 16:38Travis Kelce?

You can't tell me that wasn't a good team, though. I hear you on that. Like, you're saying the good teams find a way. You know, that's, that's something that, you know. You just have to learn to live with and learn from and it is what it is. Even great teams, you know, slip up and have those mix apps. And you know, I think they played us great all game, you know, this two Brock Bowers is having a fucking legendary season and he and he really turned it up on us, especially in the second half and late in that late in those past those last couple of drives, man. The guy seems unstoppable, man. I'm just like, I'm sitting here just watching every single snap is and he's finding ways to get open through and

• 17:19Travis Kelce?

everybody's there. Eyes are on him. Everybody's kind of like, oh, he's a rookie and you know, no eyes. Everybody knows how good this guy is. He's a first round draft pick. He's literally been one of the best, if not the best tight end in college football since he was a freshman. The guy is an absolute beast, both as a route runner with the ball in his hands and making plays during the run game. And it's it's showing it's showing up each and every single week, man. And it gets me excited to watch, you know, the tight ends, the all the young tight ends in the league and then, and you know how much of a of an impact they all make on their team, man. And he's definitely at the forefront. But this team, I mean, they play us tough and they have, for whatever reason, their defense did have a good, they had a

• 18:02Travis Kelce?

good understanding of what we were trying to do and how to stop us and how to slow us down or eliminate a lot of the big time plays that we had. And on top of that, keep us out of that end zone. That was the biggest thing for me was and where I'd take a lot of pride is once we get in that red zone, man. I get a little hungrier and right now I just, for whatever reason this year, I just can't find my way in the in the end zone. I'm just not on the same page as Pat. And and it's it can get frustrating. It can get fucking frustrating. That's for damn sure.

• 18:31Speaker 03

I think the play you're talking about is that cover zero blitz where

• 18:33Travis Kelce?

There was more than just one play.

• 18:35Speaker 03

  Okay, all right.

• 18:36Travis Kelce?

  But that play, that play

• 18:37Speaker 03

Clearly, Pat thought you were going to continue on that path. You thought he was going to kind of throw it upfield for you. But

• 18:43Travis Kelce?

I was just trying to that that play specifically it's cover zero. I'm thinking if I don't have it right now and the ball is still in Pat's hand, I need to do something else to get open for him. And

• 18:53Speaker 03

  Gotcha.

• 18:54Travis Kelce?

I just, I went one way, he threw it the other.

• 18:56Speaker 03

Yeah, the Raiders are a great team, especially defensively. I think Patrick Graham, is that Pat? Is that the defensive coordinator for the Raiders, Patrick Graham? I played against him a bunch in New York. Very smart guy. Like, he always, I feel like when he knows you, individual games are difficult because there's a lot of familiarity.

• 19:13Travis Kelce?

  Yes.

• 19:14Speaker 03

And I just think that he is, he's just a very smart coordinator.

• 19:17Travis Kelce?

The games that you know you're gonna get. So the coaches start game planning those specific details and the scheme way in the offseason before the schedule's even released. You know exactly who you're playing in your division. Let's get really good at playing those guys knowing that's what, six games that, yeah, five ga- six games that we play right there?

• 19:38Speaker 03

  Yeah, yep.

• 19:38Travis Kelce?

It's a, it's, it's, it's over a quarter of the actual season. So it's like, let's get really good at those, those games. So you go into the offseason preparing for those teams specifically. And you know, that doesn't, that's not saying that we weren't preparing for them all offseason. You know, they played us really well last year in the, last year.

• 19:56Speaker 03

Listen, we heard about it. We heard about it from Raiders fans all week in Tahoe.

• 20:00Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 20:01Speaker 03

Talking about ruining Christmas. They knew that they had your number.

• 20:03Travis Kelce?

All the year, next year ago, you know.

• 20:05Speaker 03

What are you gonna hear? You guys won this time.

• 20:06Travis Kelce?

I hear you. You're right. Still gonna hear from the Raiders. I've been be-

• 20:10Speaker 03

  They're not gonna stop.

• 20:11Travis Kelce?

Fortunate enough, yeah. I've been fortunate enough to beat the Raiders my entire career and

• 20:15Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:16Travis Kelce?

I've heard it from them every single time I go.

• 20:18Speaker 03

  Show up and yeah.

• 20:19Travis Kelce?

That's one thing. It's a good fan base for you.

• 20:21Speaker 03

What is the feeling? Why are you guys able to close out these games? Like, what is, do you have an explanation for everybody who's asking these same questions on every sports show where we just regurgitate the fact that you guys find a way to win? Is there something more to it? I don't know.

• 20:37Travis Kelce?

You can call it luck. You can call it fortune. You can call it guys just playing their ass off until the last second is off that clock. And we know a lot of weird shit happens in this league. I think both sides of the ball do a great job of, that is, the coaches do a great job of making sure the players know how wacky things happen in this league, let alone in this game. You know, we've seen a lot of the weirdest shit happen. And so I think it's just been coincidence that we've seen a lot of it happen this year just to us.

• 21:09Speaker 03

  Right.

• 21:10Travis Kelce?

Typically though, it just on the offensive side, we'll watch, I don't know, every college football game, every two minute from the NFL every single week and we'll get caught up on what's possible. What could possibly happen at the end of a game with these types of scenarios? And when you understand that, that that's, you know, when you understand the possibilities and you, you start to become more familiar with, you know, man, anything really can fucking happen. If we just keep playing hard until the, until the end of the game, no matter, you know, no matter what's happened, what's happened, you know, matter, you know, the situation at hand, if there is a chance to win, if there is still a chance on that board.

• 21:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 21:52Travis Kelce?

Um, you keep playing, man, and you just, uh, you keep playing, you know, to respect the guy next to you for, for him giving him, giving everything he's got to.

• 22:01Speaker 03

Let's get into the game a little bit more into some of the other stuff. Yeah. Listen, I know you hold yourself to a really high standard. I think you're being a little hard on yourself. Um, we did get a number of good plays from the big Yeti, including another Travis lateral, which I mean, who doesn't love a Travis lateral? Again to P. Ron, you guys have like some type of chemistry here. Look at this bow.

• 22:22Travis Kelce?

Yeah, man, right place, right time. I'm just, I'm happy it, uh, it worked. I think Coach Reed's under, uh, unquote saying either today or yesterday that, you know, yeah, if you're going to do it, it better work. If I have a little bit more awareness, I, I don't even have to pitch it though. I can just get vertical up the hash and get the first down myself. So as I'm always watching the film, how can I make a play better? How can I make, you know, more of an impact on the game? Yeah. And, uh, if I could get the first by myself without later, laterallying the ball? Yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gonna try and do that. Um, this is kinda just an instinct that, uh, that I had and I'm lucky that, you know, we completed and we, we were able to get a fresh, uh, set of downs there.

• 23:03Speaker 03

Well, I think you might be starting a trend now with the laterals you've done for a number of years now. We had Amari, Amari Cooper.

• 23:11Travis Kelce?

  This.

• 23:12Speaker 03

What do you mean start this?

• 23:14Travis Kelce?

Now I'm the guy that fucking invented the lateral or made it comfortable for everybody.

• 23:19Speaker 03

You invented it. Don't give yourself too much credit.

• 23:21Travis Kelce?

Everybody's, even Collinsworth said that something about me. This had, this was nothing like what I've done. This is just a guy in the backyard playing football like the way he has.

• 23:33Speaker 03

Yeah, this is, this is a lot less planned out.

• 23:36Travis Kelce?

Yeah, that just came. Yeah, exactly. This was just instinctual.

• 23:39Speaker 03

  This was very instinctual.

• 23:41Travis Kelce?

They got me. They don't have you. You take it.

• 23:44Speaker 03

All right. Well, let me ask you this.

• 23:45Travis Kelce?

  Play.

• 23:46Speaker 03

As an expert of laterals, should we see more laterals in the NFL?

• 23:49Travis Kelce?

It's the most underused rule in the game of football. Yes.

• 23:53Speaker 03

God, I love that answer. I love that you're fucking saying that.

• 23:56Travis Kelce?

I think I heard Rich Eisen mention that early on in my career and I was like, damn, he ain't lying, man. That shit would be sweet if we were out here just fucking flipping it around every single play. And that's what football used to be.

• 24:08Speaker 03

Are you saying that you are taking your football playing advice from Rich Eisen?

• 24:13Travis Kelce?

I mean, I'd take a, I'd take any type of advice from Rich Eisen, man.

• 24:16Speaker 03

That's a good point. He's a pretty awesome dude and smart.

• 24:19Travis Kelce?

  Well put together. Yes.

• 24:20Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 24:22Travis Kelce?

  It's a man right there.

• 24:23Speaker 03

This was also officially scored as a Josh Allen seven yard touchdown pass to Josh Allen, which.

• 24:30Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 24:31Speaker 03

It's pretty cool. Should they start like giving?

• 24:34Travis Kelce?

  Assist?

• 24:34Speaker 03

I feel like they should say an assist. This should be a version of an NFL assist, right?

• 24:39Travis Kelce?

The thing is, I just don't think it happens enough for them to even create a category for it.

• 24:43Speaker 03

But you could do this now, even like when people pitch the ball like in the backfield, like on a reverse or something like that. That's an assist by the guy who, I feel like it needs to be tracked. This should not go unaccounted for in the stat category. I like assists. It feels like it's an assist.

• 25:01Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 25:02Speaker 03

  All right.

• 25:03Travis Kelce?

Well, smart by Josh, man. The old three man weave dude follows the pass.

• 25:06Speaker 03

Dude, and I was watching the, we're gonna get into the Eagles Ravens game. I was like, dude, they should definitely design a, no joke, before this game happened, I was like, they should definitely have a play where Lamar, I think after you lateral it, where he runs after like a hitch, like the slot area and just like catches a hook and ladder. Like, I don't know. I feel like it'd be an awesome play.

• 25:29Travis Kelce?

If you can get a defense to play soft enough coverage where it's a guarantee hitch and the play doesn't just ride.

• 25:36Speaker 03

It would have to be the right situation of like third and like 25 or like a two minute type situation.

• 25:44Travis Kelce?

But then you're even, yeah, I'm telling you, it's, I've dreamt of all of these situations, I promise you. And I, I feel like I have a decent grasp on, on when a team's playing soft enough to be able to catch the ball and evaluate and be able to throw a pitch or a lateral out there.

• 26:00Speaker 03

Now, clear, I mean, clearly you do.

• 26:02Travis Kelce?

Or you catch him in man to man and you just, you beat your defender and now all of a sudden, you know that there's only one, there's one guy for every other like route around you. You know, and that's what happened in, in Buffalo ironically, uh, last year.

• 26:16Speaker 03

The good news from that win, the Chiefs are officially in the playoffs. Um, I know that you guys are really worried about this, but you have officially clinched a playoff seed in the AFC. Travis will be playing extra football as well as his rest of his teammates, um, and the Chiefs. So, uh, congratulations on, uh, making the 2024 NFL playoffs trip.

• 26:36Travis Kelce?

Thank you, man. And as shitty as, uh, I've played, you know, it does feel good to be, you know, in my 10th year in a row, making the playoffs, man.

• 26:44Speaker 03

10th year in a row. Dude, that is fucking insane.

• 26:49Travis Kelce?

  It is. Absolutely insane.

• 26:52Speaker 03

  That is so crazy.

• 26:53Travis Kelce?

You're having fun, baby. Let's make the most of it, man. Let's make the most of it. One goal has been reached. We gotta win the division. That's another goal that we gotta reach and then, uh, secure home field advantage, which we have the keys to the car in that race as well. So we, um, we just gotta finish strong, baby. Just finish strong and, uh, and then, you know. Get violently accurate with our intentions.

• 27:19Speaker 03

I love that. Alrighty, speaking of the division, the Chiefs will host the Los Angeles Chargers in Arrowhead this week against Jim Harbaugh and company. That's right. Do you like playing divisional opponents first at their place and then second at home? Or do you care? I don't even know why I'm asking this question. Intern Brandon put it there.

• 27:41Travis Kelce?

No, I don't think it matters where we play them. I'll play them in a fucking CBS parking lot, man. I love the divisional games. It's a, it's a complete, it's a whole new sense of like competitiveness.

• 27:53Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 27:54Travis Kelce?

And it's a whole new like focus. The intricacies of the game, the, the fundamentals, the what move did I use last time? What move, what play did we use last time? What look did we give them last time? All those things start to play a little bit more and it's even more of a chess match. You know, it's the closest thing to, to a playoff football game that, that I feel like you really get. And when there's a playoff potential team in your division that you're playing, like the Chargers or like the Broncos that we have at the end of the year, you know, it, it makes it even more of a, of a, I don't know, just like excitement. It's exciting to get ready for these games, man. And I mean, the Chargers got their new team. They're a way more motivated and, and way more focused

• 28:38Travis Kelce?

team than I thought they were in the past years. And sure enough, their quarterback's playing really fucking good right now. And that defense is, is got some absolute beasts that we gotta be ready for.

• 28:48Speaker 03

That's right. Yeah, Harbaugh has them playing much better. I mean, it's largely the same team, but they got a lot of confidence right now and it's evident. And the quarterback is playing with that level. He is making some big time throws.

• 29:00Travis Kelce?

They're playing with some fucking heart and I hadn't seen that in the Chargers in a long time. Thank you to our partner, Royal Caribbean. Dude, have you seen this? Royal Caribbean just dropped the Legend of the Seas. It's the biggest cruise ship on the planet. Like, nothing's even close to being this big. And it's sailing out of Fort Lauderdale, starting this November.

• 29:23Speaker 06

That's right. This thing is stacked. Seven pools, more places to eat than you can even count. I mean, they have something for everybody.

• 29:32Travis Kelce?

Like bring the kids, bring mom and dad. Shoot, bring the whole crew. Everybody's got a spot. That's what makes it special.

• 29:39Speaker 06

And the entertainment, Latin music, ice skating, full on Broadway shows. It's pretty amazing. Pretty much everything you want in one place. Oh, and did I mention there's a water park?

• 29:49Travis Kelce?

You didn't, and that's, that'd be the kicker for me.

• 29:51Speaker 06

  I love a water park.

• 29:52Travis Kelce?

But the crazy one, Crowns Edge, a ropes course off the side of the ship. Not for the faint of heart, brother.

• 30:01Speaker 06

They've also got Playmaker Sports Bar and Arcade, so that means games on every screen. I love a good arcade sports place combination.

• 30:10Travis Kelce?

All right, count me in. Get the family on the new Legend of the Seas sailing November 2026 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, one love.

• 31:09Speaker 06

Let's uh, let's get into this Eagles Ravens game. What do you say, Trav?

• 31:11Travis Kelce?

Let's do it. Eagles 24, Ravens 19. Eagles come out on top in the Bird Bowl. One of the bird bowls in the league. Initial thoughts, Jason?

• 31:21Speaker 06

Huge win for the Birds, and by Birds, I mean the Eagles, that bird. Listen, the Eagles have been playing a lot better since the bye, but this was a win in my opinion that I, you know, I think myself and a lot of people think the Ravens are among the best teams in the NFL. From a talent perspective, they have so many.

• 31:42Speaker 03

Like very good pieces. This was a huge test for the Eagles, the Eagles defense and them as a team. And, you know, they largely answered the bell. I thought they, they put together a great game. The front is playing so good between Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis and, and the edges, a guy like Jaleks Hunt stepped up big time in Brandon Graham's absence. Linebackers, the Kobe Dean and Zach Bond are playing and flying around. They're playing very aggressive and smart football, and I love watching it right now. The DBs, they've just like been able to shut teams down, quite frankly.

• 32:19Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 32:19Speaker 03

Cooper Dejean, rookie has come in and played lights out. Reid Blankenship, you know, we still got our man Darius Slay who was out this past week, but you know, Quinian Mitchell, the other rookie that we drafted in the first round is playing great football. Offensively, they've had, they found an identity, right? They have Saquon Barkley, which he's been unbelievable. We're going to get to that in a second. But, you know, I think with the pieces they have, I don't know how you defend them. I really don't. If you play, I talked about this a little bit on Monday Night Football, but if you play man coverage, A.J. Brown and Devante Smith are going to annihilate you if you're going to try and live in that world. If you play shell, Saquon Barkley is going to be a heavy dose. If you want to play, if you want to play these zones, they are, this is really what worked very well against the

• 33:04Speaker 03

Ravens. They ran the zone read plays, the RPOs and the play actions were all so synchronistic.

• 33:12Travis Kelce?

  Okay, synchronistic.

• 33:14Speaker 03

I don't know how you defend the Philadelphia Eagles as an offense. And the Ravens, I mean, they didn't allow that many points, but I think it's, it was an impressive performance for the Eagles.

• 33:23Travis Kelce?

It's been a present impressive performance for, for just about all season long, man, especially since they got Saquon Barkley back there.

• 33:32Speaker 03

  No doubt.

• 33:32Travis Kelce?

Running the fucking rock and even more so in the second half. He's been fucking amazing and it's fun to watch him kind of take over games there in the second half. You tweeted about it saying, Jason tweeted on, on X, Saquon has been so good in the fourth quarter this year. How many enormous game leading or ceiling? Big runs has he had it's insane how clutch he's been with an exclamation point you don't always see Jason use punctuation like that only when he means it and it's um

• 34:02Speaker 03

  How about

• 34:02Travis Kelce?

It's true man it's true it's it feels like whenever they need a huge play there in the second half uh who better than Saquon Barkley to give that fucking ball to man He's like zero to 60 faster than any other fucking human that I've ever seen man and he's he's such a big dude Quads enormous so you're trying to tackle this dude or slow him down or get an arm on him or if you don't get a A a thick solid hit on him then you know he's he's liable to fucking break one and you saw it like two plays In a row there was it was it was an outside zone to the left where the safety just fucking got his cleats and he was kicking himself he was like man that was it that was it

• 34:44Travis Kelce?

Let alone uh but little did he know he's gonna get another chance uh later on that drive to to really break one man

• 34:50Speaker 03

And that's where the MVP kind of chatter really fits in I mean obviously the yards he's the leading back in the In the NFL right now with a chance to break the all time rushing record which would be completely electric

• 35:01Travis Kelce?

  Yeah

• 35:02Speaker 03

The thing that makes him so valuable and so unique is the second half big explosive runs That have either sealed games or put games out of reach for instance the the run from last week on the tackle pull play He had to run through a couple arm tackles which might not seem like much but maybe if it's another back you get down at the five and you don't end up getting in the end zone there and like The defenses have been very staunch in the red zone Saquon being able to run and finish these plays off in the most critical parts of the game it's been such a huge Determining factor in the Eagles late in games and why they've been able to win games

• 35:39Travis Kelce?

It's been arguably the most valuable factor to have

• 35:43Speaker 03

I think he's up there I mean I again it's obviously a quarterback driven stat but If Saquon Barkley breaks a record that's been in the end I mean when did Eric Dickerson set that record

• 35:54Speaker 04

  Eighty-four

• 35:55Speaker 03

Eighty-four the record's been since nineteen eighty-four if he breaks that record

• 36:01Speaker 03

And the Eagles somehow end up being the NFC champions. I don't know how you don't give it to Saquon Barkley.

• 36:06Travis Kelce?

If even if he doesn't break the fucking record, if he's the best player on one of the best teams in the league and he's proven it year in, year out in the biggest moments, what are we even fucking talking about?

• 36:16Speaker 03

It's a good point. All right. I think that makes sense.

• 36:18Travis Kelce?

What are your final thoughts on this one, big dog?

• 36:20Speaker 03

My final thoughts are the Eagles proved that they are legit Super Bowl contenders unequivocally with this win. If they stay healthy, I don't know that there's a more talented team than them in the NFL.

• 36:33Travis Kelce?

I might be able to argue that.

• 36:34Speaker 03

Well, okay, can I say NFC at least? Will you at least agree? I mean, well, the Detroit Lions are pretty damn talented.

• 36:40Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 36:40Speaker 03

That's the one thing, man. I, I really, just as a football fan, as a fucking offensive line fan, there is nothing more than I would like to see than the Detroit Lions face off against the Philadelphia Eagles. Like, I want that game to happen so bad.

• 36:56Travis Kelce?

I think all of the NFL wants this to happen, Jason. Who doesn't want to fucking see that? This is how, this is how the NFL fucking got where it is today.

• 37:06Speaker 03

  It is.

• 37:07Travis Kelce?

Seventies, eighties, handing that fucking thing off to guys like Eric Dickerson. You know, the guys like Jim Brown, everybody wants to see that thing in someone's hand and everybody try and stop that man.

• 37:17Speaker 03

I'm with you. I will say this, I, I'm talking a lot about the Eagles. Mark Andrews had a touchdown in that game.

• 37:22Travis Kelce?

Dude, Mark is a fucking dog.

• 37:24Speaker 03

  Dude.

• 37:25Travis Kelce?

Right now, him and Likely, that is a fucking scary dynamic to have in the tight end room to have to fucking get ready for.

• 37:31Speaker 03

Dude, that first touchdown that Andrews caught, where he just like caught it above his head and like held it there.

• 37:36Travis Kelce?

  He's a fucking beast, man.

• 37:37Speaker 03

It might be the most man touchdown I've ever seen. Like, it was like, it was like, I'm bigger than all you other motherf- it was like, like, he went up for a rebound and just like, it was.

• 37:47Travis Kelce?

  I'm telling you.

• 37:48Speaker 03

I thought he was about to pop the ball.

• 37:49Travis Kelce?

Mark is a fucking, like, yeah, like Little Giants?

• 37:51Speaker 03

Like a Little Giants moment. Like, he is squeezing the fuck out of it. How big are his hands? That ball looks so small. Yeah, dude, it was.

• 37:59Travis Kelce?

  Dude, he's electric, man.

• 38:00Speaker 03

I don't know why that stood out to me so much.

• 38:03Travis Kelce?

Mark right now is playing like, you know, one of the best tight ends, if not the best tight end in the league right now. I know him, George and Brock Bowers, those dudes are absolutely playing fucking ball right now.

• 38:14Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:14Travis Kelce?

  And it's fun to watch.

• 38:15Speaker 03

Next week, the Eagles are gonna face Bryce Young and the Panthers. Not just Bryce Young, a new and improved Bryce Young, who is playing his ass off right now. They, I mean, quite. Literally, I mean, they, they nearly got the win against the Bucks. It's two weeks in a row that Brayshaw has been playing really well. The Panthers might officially be good. I know the Eagles should for sure be worried about them because they are playing everybody tight.

• 38:39Travis Kelce?

I played them and I can tell you, they've officially been good for at least the past two weeks.

• 38:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:45Travis Kelce?

If not before that, they were kind of seeing that, uh, we started to see that thing kind of build and mold together before their bye week, before we played them. And then sure enough, uh, they play us just as good as anybody.

• 38:56Speaker 03

Honestly, they've been playing better ever since I made the joke that they were the worst team in the NFL.

• 39:01Travis Kelce?

  That's what happens, Jason.

• 39:03Speaker 03

It's like the kicker's thing, like I just gotta stop. I gotta stop talking.

• 39:08Travis Kelce?

I mean, or just keep shitting on people and watch people fucking turn.

• 39:13Speaker 03

Maybe that's what I should do. Shit on people and then all of a sudden they play better and I can take credit for that, even though it makes, I had no impact in it whatsoever. Sounds like a typical media person, right?

• 39:23Travis Kelce?

The universe is weird like that, man. Start shitting on the Chiefs.

• 39:26Speaker 03

Don't you dare me. Once again, Bold Topics is brought to you by Amazon Prime. That's right. Become a Prime member today and, uh, get more out of whatever passions you're pursuing. Whatever you're into, it's on Prime.

• 39:41Travis Kelce?

No dumb questions. Before we get to Bill, uh, it's time for some no dumb questions because there's no such thing as dumb questions, 92 percenters. Just you dumb asses asking them. I mean, us answering them. No dumb questions is brought to you by Google TV. No more endless browsing. Google TV makes it easy to find things you love to watch.

• 40:02Speaker 03

  Alrighty.

• 40:03Travis Kelce?

From Valerie Jean Louis and, uh, Twitter, there we go.

• 40:08Speaker 03

  Nice.

• 40:09Travis Kelce?

My no dumb question is if you could have been on any team from kids, movies or TV show, which would it be and why?

• 40:18Speaker 03

Interesting. Any kids movie or TV show? So she's looking for a kids centric team, essentially.

• 40:25Travis Kelce?

I think it's just like kids movie.

• 40:27Speaker 03

But it's not like Remember the Titans. Well, I guess they're teenagers in that. That's a high school movie. So that's still counts, right?

• 40:33Travis Kelce?

Any team from a kids movie or a TV show?

• 40:36Speaker 03

But is it a kids TV show or is it just a regular?

• 40:39Travis Kelce?

Valerie, you gotta be specific if you want somebody like Jason to answer your question.

• 40:42Speaker 03

Yeah, but don't forget, we are dumb asses. Travis just told you, we are very stupid. But who are you going with? We can't pick Sandlot because they just picked Sandlot. So Valerie, thanks for taking the fucking answer that we probably both would have picked.

• 40:54Travis Kelce?

  Kids.

• 40:55Speaker 03

All right, let's think kids movies that are sports, teams. Space Jam, we talked about it with Bill. I mean, you could be on the Monstars. Would you be on the Monstars or would you be on Jordan's T- uh, Tune Squad? I might go Monstars. That'd be a fucking electric group to be a part of.

• 41:12Travis Kelce?

Yeah, except that you wouldn't be the one controlling your Monstar.

• 41:18Speaker 03

Huh? I might be a Monstar if I'm on the Monstars.

• 41:21Travis Kelce?

You're gonna be one of those little fuckers, the little, little fat shits? That's who you wanna be?

• 41:26Speaker 03

Not when I steal, whose talent would I steal? I wouldn't, okay, so I can't steal one of them.

• 41:31Travis Kelce?

I'll play that game with you.

• 41:32Speaker 03

  Yeah, I would steal.

• 41:34Travis Kelce?

  If you were an alien.

• 41:35Speaker 03

I would steal Shaquille O'Neal. I would steal Shaquille O'Neal's talent.

• 41:38Travis Kelce?

  God damn. You would be.

• 41:40Speaker 03

That's right. Who the fuck is stopping me with Shaquille O'Neal's talent?

• 41:43Travis Kelce?

  I don't know. Greg Daboll bitch? I don't know.

• 41:48Speaker 03

  Tim Duncan?

• 41:49Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 41:52Travis Kelce?

Shaq didn't do, Shaq was unstoppable, wasn't he?

• 41:55Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 41:56Travis Kelce?

  That wasn't the issue.

• 41:57Speaker 03

  No.

• 41:58Travis Kelce?

  Stopping him was impossible.

• 42:01Speaker 03

All right, I think I'm going Space Jam. Who are you going?

• 42:03Travis Kelce?

I'm gonna go, man, it was just, as a kid, I just loved Major League, man.

• 42:10Speaker 03

  That's not a kid's movie.

• 42:12Travis Kelce?

It is in my book, um.

• 42:13Speaker 03

  All right, fine.

• 42:16Speaker 03

What is it? Does it, is that?

• 42:17Travis Kelce?

Willie Mays Hayes, Rookie of the Year, there's so many good ones, Angels in the Outfield. I'd love to fucking feel what it's like to.

• 42:23Speaker 03

I kinda feel like you guys are the Angels in the Outfield this year.

• 42:26Travis Kelce?

  Angels in the Outfield?

• 42:27Speaker 03

  There's some unknowns, like.

• 42:34Travis Kelce?

Here you go with this fucking tape voodoo shit.

• 42:38Travis Kelce?

  This dude's such a dickhead.

• 42:43Speaker 03

  Who you going with?

• 42:44Travis Kelce?

Kicking and screaming, god damn, these are all fucking golden. I'm gonna say the fucking, uh, the little giants, man.

• 42:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 42:50Travis Kelce?

  Me and Icebox.

• 42:51Speaker 03

  I figured that's where you're gonna go.

• 42:52Travis Kelce?

Fucking unstoppable out there. Spike would have no fucking choice but to eat. Eat shit.

• 42:58Speaker 03

I'm taking you against Spike any day. All right. I like that. There you have a great question. Uh, Valerie Jean Louis. Uh, so yeah, if you're interested for something to watch with the kids, you can check out my Google TV list. Uh, Lilo and Stitch. Uh, we got a Brink. How electric is Brink?

• 43:18Travis Kelce?

  It's a classic.

• 43:19Speaker 03

I love all those. I love all those.

• 43:20Travis Kelce?

Rollerblading period. When's the last time you saw a fucking kid rollerblading, man?

• 43:23Speaker 03

Dude, I want to get back on.

• 43:25Travis Kelce?

When's the last time you saw a kid with a fucking raspberry on his knee? Cause he fucked his shit up outside. Kids, get outside. Use the first aid kit your moms and dads have in the house.

• 43:35Speaker 03

If you never scrape your knee, how are you gonna know what life is actually like?

• 43:41Travis Kelce?

  Neosporin.

• 43:41Speaker 03

  Neosporin. Well done. Oh gosh.

• 43:46Travis Kelce?

How are you gonna know how to put a butterfly Band-Aid on, you know?

• 43:51Travis Kelce?

These are fucking essential skills that you're gonna eventually need in life. You need to get outside and fuck some shit up to go figure that out.

• 43:58Speaker 03

That's right. If you show me a kid that hasn't scraped their knee and I'll show you someone that has a gluten allergy. All right. There's a bunch of classics that you're gonna want to check out.

• 44:09Speaker 03

That was uncalled for and stupid.

• 44:13Speaker 03

Shout out to Cousin Riss. All right. There's a bunch of classics that you're gonna want to, you'll love watching with the family. Um, that does it for No Dumb Questions, uh, brought to you by our friends at Google TV. Be sure to check out my show and movie confessions now. That's right.

• 44:34Speaker 06

  I don't know why I said that.

• 44:37Travis Kelce?

  It was so perfect.

• 44:40Speaker 03

Alrighty, our guest today, you might know him from his run on SNL, legendary movies like Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Stripes, Space Jams, Lost in Translation, my personal favorite, Kingpin, basically anything with Wes Anderson. He's an Emmy winner, Academy Award nominee, and of course a winner for the Mark Twain Prize for American humor.

• 45:02Travis Kelce?

  Yes, sir.

• 45:03Speaker 03

And he's also now my official golf competitor.

• 45:07Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 45:08Speaker 03

  Yeah. Please welcome Bill Murray.

• 45:12Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 45:15Speaker 06

  Baby.

• 45:15Speaker 03

How many movies do we miss? What about Bob, Groundhog's Day?

• 45:19Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 45:20Speaker 03

  I, I don't think, I mean, we'd be here all day listening.

• 45:23Speaker 06

Yeah, well, we got, it's, are you guys on an hourly or is this a flat rate?

• 45:27Speaker 03

Honestly, we will take whatever you give us.

• 45:30Speaker 06

There's a, there's a lot of them, but you know, some, you know, people have their favorites. You, you did yours. We're good. I'm fine.

• 45:37Travis Kelce?

Let's start, let's start off with your favorite, dude.

• 45:39Speaker 06

Well, I always say I like this.

• 45:40Travis Kelce?

You wish you would have done over or?

• 45:42Speaker 06

Well, you probably like a game that you played really well and you lost or something like that. Is that possible?

• 45:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 45:47Speaker 06

So, not that they lost, but I made a movie called Broken Flowers with Jim Jarmusch. I thought was a great movie.

• 45:53Speaker 03

  Broken Flowers.

• 45:53Speaker 06

And I made another movie called, uh, The Man Who Knew Too Little with a director named John Amiel. That had it was, had some really, really funny stuff and some really great actors.

• 46:02Speaker 03

That is another one of our favorites.

• 46:03Speaker 06

Yeah, that one had some really funny stuff.

• 46:05Speaker 03

When you're on the side of the building and they're shooting up at you and, oh my gosh.

• 46:09Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 46:09Speaker 03

The freaking Russian dancing scene with the, the doll. Oh my gosh.

• 46:14Speaker 06

My knees have never been the same and I really did it too. I really, those are real Russian dancers, like, my God, what the hell is that guy doing? He's actually doing it. Of course, I never walked again, but I mean, it was, it was, I really went hard for that one.

• 46:26Speaker 03

Yeah. That's awesome. We're going to talk a little bit of golf. Uh, we're in Georgia at,

• 46:32Travis Kelce?

  Georgia.

• 46:33Speaker 03

Cobb, Cobb, what's the name of this Cobb?

• 46:35Speaker 06

  Cobb County?

• 46:36Speaker 03

  Cobb County, Cobb Town.

• 46:38Speaker 06

  Near Cobb Town.

• 46:38Speaker 03

We're in Cobb Town, Georgia, uh, at a hoopy.

• 46:42Speaker 06

  Two Bs in Cobb Town.

• 46:43Travis Kelce?

You guys are over at a hoopy?

• 46:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 46:45Travis Kelce?

  Onion Town? Onion Country?

• 46:47Speaker 03

  That is, I, I don't know if that's.

• 46:49Travis Kelce?

  Isn't the onion the, uh?

• 46:50Speaker 03

  Onion is definitely the logo.

• 46:51Speaker 06

Do they grow onions here, Gil? Is that the deal? We're talking to Gil Hans.

• 46:55Speaker 03

  What kind of onions?

• 46:56Speaker 06

Uh, one of, one of several people taking credit for designing the golf course.

• 47:01Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 47:02Travis Kelce?

It is a beautiful golf course, man.

• 47:03Speaker 03

  Have you been down here?

• 47:05Travis Kelce?

Hell yeah. Two off, two off seasons ago. Saw the, what is it? The zebras off in the distance?

• 47:10Speaker 03

Yep, zebras. They got, they have zebras. They have, uh, uh, wildebeest. What else do they have out there, Bill?

• 47:16Speaker 06

And they have my caddy, Eric, who's off in the distance.

• 47:19Speaker 03

Yeah. Offering zero help. Yeah, we had a great time out there today. Eric, we had Gray, the other caddy.

• 47:29Speaker 06

  Gray's a jerk.

• 47:30Speaker 03

  You didn't like Gray?

• 47:31Speaker 06

No, he's all right. He's from Alabama.

• 47:33Speaker 03

  Heavy accent.

• 47:34Speaker 06

He's on, he's on the comeback trail.

• 47:36Speaker 03

Played safety at Auburn. He's pretty.

• 47:38Speaker 06

  What?

• 47:39Speaker 03

  He's an interesting guy.

• 47:40Speaker 06

Played safety at Auburn and he's caddying for you.

• 47:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 47:46Speaker 06

  I love it.

• 47:47Speaker 03

You have somebody that you really like playing golf with. Who are your favorite golf partners? You've played with through the years?

• 47:51Speaker 06

I, I kind of like playing with women. They're more fun. They're sort of less threatening to me.

• 47:57Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 47:58Speaker 06

But they're, they just seem to be having a better time, most of them.

• 48:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 48:02Speaker 06

Uh, I played golf with this good golfer, lives up north and south, named Bridget Rooney. I had a good time playing with Larry David is actually a funny guy to play golf with.

• 48:13Speaker 03

  I can believe that.

• 48:13Speaker 06

For, I mean, it's kind of, it's not bad to play golf with a total curmudgeon. But he's, he, he really enjoys the game a lot. So he's not like all.

• 48:20Travis Kelce?

  That's cool.

• 48:21Speaker 06

He didn't get all mental when he hits a bad shot.

• 48:23Speaker 03

Were you always a golf guy? When did you get into the sport?

• 48:27Speaker 06

God, what a setup that is. Were you always a golf guy?

• 48:29Speaker 03

  Golf guy, yeah.

• 48:30Speaker 06

Yeah, no, I, I did some, I did my share of exotic dancing, but then I.

• 48:37Speaker 06

  Uh, um, I started as, I mean, I, I began as a caddy. I mean, I was a child before that, but I can't, I started as a caddy.

• 48:45Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 48:46Speaker 06

Kind of what happened. I was a shag boy and then I was a caddy and you kind of, you know, once you're caddy for years, you know, you kind of, you're in. It's like a baptism without, uh, you know, approval. You're in. So that's sort of what.

• 48:59Travis Kelce?

Was that just like the summer job or?

• 49:01Speaker 06

Yeah, well, in my family, you had to, like, if you wanted to go to high school, if you wanted to go to the Catholic school, you had to pay for it yourself. So, um, not that I, I necessarily wanted to pay for it, but, uh, I just, my eldest, my elder brothers had gone there, so that's what I was going to do. And they'd done the same thing. Ed and Brian had both paid their way through high school caddying and gambling, learning the intricacies of cards. And so I had to do that too.

• 49:29Travis Kelce?

  Nice.

• 49:30Speaker 03

What is it about golf that you like so much?

• 49:32Speaker 06

Well, if I'm trying to stick up for it, you know, like I often am, like a lot of people go like golf, oh, you're chasing your little white ball around in your funny little clothes. But, um.

• 49:45Speaker 06

It's really, you know, maybe one of the only games that's a game of self-report. Where you have to say what your score is.

• 49:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 49:53Speaker 06

So, the problem today was, I had no idea what my score was. I was, neither did you. I'm looking at my caddy and he's going.

• 50:01Speaker 03

  We relied on Eric.

• 50:02Speaker 06

All he was doing was, yeah, well, to a fault. I don't, I don't think we got, we'll never know if we got.

• 50:08Speaker 03

We technically tied by Eric's account.

• 50:11Speaker 06

According to Eric, we tied, but that's because someone sitting in one of these chairs gave Eric $700.

• 50:18Speaker 06

$700 in small, small bills, and I'm not talking fives.

• 50:22Speaker 03

  Small bills?

• 50:22Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 50:24Travis Kelce?

Throwing ones at him every, every shot?

• 50:26Speaker 06

But that's one thing about golf is, it's a game of self-report where it's like your honesty is like a key thing. You know, and you don't know if you play with people that cheat at golf, but like, you can cheat on your income taxes. You can cheat on your spouse, your, your lover. But you cheated golf, we're done.

• 50:44Speaker 06

I got no second chances. I understand the impulse to cheat it on taxes or, or like another guy, another woman, but you cheated golf. I don't even want to see your face.

• 50:56Travis Kelce?

  The golden rule.

• 50:57Speaker 06

So there's that. So there's like a code, you know, there's a code which a lot of, you know, Eric's sport has a code, but that, I think that is a fierce code. It's a game of, it's a body attention, you know, self-awareness kind of game. You know, you have to, I don't know what football is like beyond the, like freshman year of high school level, but you know, you really have to be, you know, composed to play it correctly, to play at your best, you know?

• 51:24Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 51:24Speaker 06

Quiet inside and, you know, the most efficient use of your body and everything. So it's like that. It's, I like it.

• 51:31Travis Kelce?

  I'll tell you what.

• 51:31Speaker 06

  It doesn't look like that.

• 51:33Travis Kelce?

One of the most uncomposed people in the fucking world is Jason Kelce in Tahoe. Oh my gosh. Seeing Jason absolutely spiral.

• 51:46Travis Kelce?

  His first round at Tahoe.

• 51:49Speaker 06

Was he like diving into the lake or what?

• 51:52Travis Kelce?

  He might as well.

• 51:53Speaker 03

  I might have.

• 51:54Travis Kelce?

He came out, he came out the gates hot. I think he was, uh, he was, I think he was plus four. I think he was like in the red for the first like three holes, three or four holes.

• 52:04Speaker 03

This is very nice of you to bring this up Travis.

• 52:05Travis Kelce?

Double, double, double, double, double, double.

• 52:07Speaker 03

This is what you have brothers for. Yeah, no, it's good.

• 52:10Travis Kelce?

  Keep your composure, man.

• 52:11Speaker 03

I'll tell you what, you got uncomposed. I took you out of your game. The, uh, what is that? The second or third day? That's right. I was playing so bad.

• 52:18Travis Kelce?

It was either you or the lucky beaver. I can't figure out which one it was.

• 52:21Speaker 03

The lucky beaver might have did it. Yeah. What? So how many, how many courses are you involved with? Like members with?

• 52:27Speaker 06

How many lucky beavers do you guys know?

• 52:29Speaker 03

Well, I know one, I know one officially titled.

• 52:34Speaker 06

They have Beaver in, in Nevada?

• 52:36Speaker 03

  In Reno. Yeah.

• 52:38Travis Kelce?

  I listened.

• 52:39Speaker 03

  Highly recommend it.

• 52:40Travis Kelce?

I didn't see any in there, but I was, uh, I was in there grabbing some drinks.

• 52:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 52:45Speaker 06

Oh, is that the name of a bar?

• 52:46Speaker 03

  It's a bar.

• 52:47Speaker 06

So what, were you guys playing as a team in Tahoe? Were you against each other?

• 52:51Travis Kelce?

  No, Tahoe's individual scores.

• 52:53Speaker 03

  It's an individual. Yeah.

• 52:54Travis Kelce?

It's a point based though. You can, the max is a double bogey. Um, and that's a minus three points, I believe. And then from there it kind of just.

• 53:03Speaker 06

  Were you playing together?

• 53:04Speaker 03

We were playing, we were paired together, but we weren't.

• 53:07Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 53:08Speaker 03

Like, yeah, we were a, a, against each other. Um.

• 53:11Speaker 06

You play with a different group every day, different twosome or something?

• 53:15Travis Kelce?

It's typically a round of three guys, just so they can keep the pace up.

• 53:18Speaker 03

We played with Andrew Whitworth, a tackle that played in the, uh, in the league for a long time in Cincinnati and.

• 53:24Speaker 06

  I hate that guy.

• 53:25Speaker 03

You don't like Andrew? Well, he's a very hateable guy.

• 53:29Travis Kelce?

You've played in a bunch of pro.

• 53:30Speaker 06

If he's not holding, I don't know who the hell he is.

• 53:35Travis Kelce?

  He ain't lying, man.

• 53:37Speaker 03

  So true.

• 53:39Travis Kelce?

That's some good shit, man. The camera of shame. Shame that man.

• 53:45Travis Kelce?

Show his face. Show us his face.

• 53:48Speaker 06

Yeah, I'd like to see someone. So if you take off your helmet, you have to come off the field?

• 53:53Travis Kelce?

  That's a flag.

• 53:54Speaker 03

  It's actually a penalty.

• 53:55Speaker 06

  It's a flag?

• 53:55Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 53:56Travis Kelce?

  It's a flag.

• 53:56Speaker 03

  If your helmet comes off.

• 53:58Speaker 06

You have to leave the field for a play or something?

• 54:00Speaker 03

I believe you have to leave the field to have it like put back on or something like that. But if you take it off, that's a penalty. So yeah.

• 54:06Travis Kelce?

Bill, you've been invited to a bunch of pro am's. Tahoe hasn't gave you a shout yet? Have you ever even been out to Tahoe?

• 54:12Speaker 06

Yeah, back when it was just a pond.

• 54:16Travis Kelce?

They still got that, that's for sure.

• 54:18Speaker 06

Yeah, no, I read the Mark Twain. I read it. Yeah, I've had some good. I've had a nice time at Tahoe. I like to swim in it. The golf always, they, those guys always seemed a little too serious for me.

• 54:29Travis Kelce?

  I hear you.

• 54:29Speaker 06

That, that crowd seemed a little too serious.

• 54:31Speaker 03

  It is pretty serious.

• 54:32Speaker 06

Yeah. I played with those guys once and that was enough.

• 54:35Speaker 03

  Let's get, let's touch.

• 54:36Speaker 06

And I did play with my kids. I played a, we got trapped there playing a couple of slot machines.

• 54:43Travis Kelce?

  Heyo.

• 54:44Speaker 06

And I got stuck on one that was the Bonanza slot machine. And if you got two out of three.

• 54:50Travis Kelce?

  Write this shit down.

• 54:50Speaker 06

If you put in $3 and you got two back, it played bum, bada bum, bada, the Bonanza song, you know? And it's like, hey, you feel like you're winning while you're losing a dollar at a time for, I don't know. I don't know.

• 55:03Travis Kelce?

I think that's the most fun I have in, in Tahoe is when everybody goes from being done with playing golf and we just jump over the casino.

• 55:10Speaker 06

Yeah. What's your dumb game? What's your dumb game?

• 55:13Speaker 03

  Travis plays roulette.

• 55:13Travis Kelce?

Roulette. I fucking love it. God damn.

• 55:16Speaker 03

  It's so stupid.

• 55:17Travis Kelce?

It's so fun. Jason says it's stupid. The only time he's ever played with me, one Buku bucks.

• 55:22Speaker 03

That's because you were having fun.

• 55:23Speaker 06

Well, I know how that is. It's like if you're, if you're flush and you got a lot of money on you, you go like, what's your number? You know, and you got to tell everybody what's your number? And I remember having like a lot of per diem going there for some goofy thing and what's your number? So I had like seven people's number. We were winning like all the time. Meanwhile, I'm the only guy putting up the money.

• 55:43Speaker 06

Six times and one of us is losing and it's not me. It's never me. I'm like, so happy for you.

• 55:50Speaker 06

I was pretty much broke in about 120 minutes and, but other people were walking out with like big bags of pockets.

• 55:59Travis Kelce?

  I love it.

• 56:00Speaker 03

We are supported obviously by Amazon Prime. That's right. Many of you know, Prime for its lightning fast free shipping.

• 56:06Travis Kelce?

That's just the beginning, Jason. Prime is a powerhouse of perks. That's right. The powerhouse of perks. Nice alliteration there.

• 56:13Speaker 03

  Love that.

• 56:14Travis Kelce?

• 59:26Speaker 03

We do have a Heights hotline.

• 59:27Speaker 06

Hey, we've got somebody here from Houston.

• 59:30Travis Kelce?

You grew up in Chicago, Chi-Town, baby, with eight siblings.

• 59:35Speaker 03

  What number are you?

• 59:36Speaker 06

  I was five of nine.

• 59:37Speaker 03

  Five of nine?

• 59:39Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 59:39Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 59:39Speaker 06

Where there were nine of us.

• 59:41Travis Kelce?

  Nice.

• 59:41Speaker 03

And boy, girl, how many brothers, how many sisters?

• 59:44Speaker 06

  I don't know. I knew their names.

• 59:50Speaker 06

They were, uh, they were, they were, there were six boys and there were three girls.

• 59:55Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 59:56Travis Kelce?

They had nine? You guys could feel the, you guys could feel the whole, whole, whole diamond.

• 1:00:02Speaker 06

  For sure.

• 1:00:03Travis Kelce?

Did you guys, you guys ever just go family versus family out on the diamond?

• 1:00:07Speaker 06

Yeah, we had some cousins that, we had some cousins, the Collinses, they had nine too.

• 1:00:11Travis Kelce?

  Wow.

• 1:00:11Speaker 06

At least I think they had nine. They were, they were not, they're not as tall as we were, so they could have had more or less. It was, we couldn't tell. We like to play them in basketball.

• 1:00:20Travis Kelce?

  There we go.

• 1:00:21Speaker 06

That was our game. We played a lot of sports. We played everything. Basically, I would spend the winter, long winters there, hitting rocks with a baseball bat over the fence of the backyard.

• 1:00:31Travis Kelce?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:00:31Speaker 06

Until I would hear someone go, "Ah!"

• 1:00:35Speaker 06

My neighbor getting into his car, taking one right in the forehead.

• 1:00:40Travis Kelce?

  Oh, shit.

• 1:00:41Speaker 03

Who'd you, who'd you get your sense of humor from? Your mother, father, siblings?

• 1:00:45Speaker 06

Well, that's, well, my siblings are humorous. I've got some funny brothers and sisters. They're all funny.

• 1:00:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:00:51Speaker 06

We used to think our dad, our dad was a really, really tough laugh. So if you could make him laugh, that was like, you, you looked at your sis, your brother and sister going, "See that?" That's when they laughed. See that? But oddly, when, when the, the bunch of us that went, sort of continued being funny for a living, sort of, it turned out we were all doing our mother. That we actually, like, when we went into like a silly goofy mode, we were actually doing our mother.

• 1:01:18Speaker 03

  Oh, wow.

• 1:01:19Speaker 06

So she was more of a character than my dad was. My dad was, you know, he was hard to read because he was not an easy laugh.

• 1:01:27Travis Kelce?

Would you call yourself the troublemaker of the family or what?

• 1:01:29Speaker 06

No, I was, I was the good one. I was the good one. Yeah.

• 1:01:32Speaker 03

You were the good one. Nice.

• 1:01:33Speaker 06

Heck, yeah. No, I was the worst.

• 1:01:38Speaker 06

  I was the worst.

• 1:01:39Travis Kelce?

Fucking said me. Have you bear trapped me?

• 1:01:41Speaker 06

Uh, you asked me a question.

• 1:01:42Speaker 03

Yeah, what did your old man, what did, what did your father do?

• 1:01:44Speaker 06

  Sold lumber. Sold lumber.

• 1:01:45Speaker 03

  Sold lumber.

• 1:01:46Speaker 06

But he, um, just when he started to make real, real money, he, he died. He died very young. Forty-six years old he was. So nowadays, that's really young. Even then, he was really young. But to leave nine kids, it was, it was a tough, tough moment.

• 1:02:00Speaker 03

  Yeah, absolutely.

• 1:02:02Speaker 06

  He was a great man.

• 1:02:05Speaker 06

But then my mother sucked it up and went to work as a cement finisher.

• 1:02:11Travis Kelce?

  Wow.

• 1:02:11Speaker 06

  No, not.

• 1:02:12Speaker 03

  I'm like, there's no chance.

• 1:02:17Speaker 03

  She worked in the mailroom.

• 1:02:20Speaker 03

She got, I got you emotional and now you're, now you're a puppet.

• 1:02:23Travis Kelce?

You fucking reeled me in. You're a professional.

• 1:02:26Speaker 03

  She also had nine caddies.

• 1:02:28Speaker 06

She had nine kids. Yeah, she had nine kids and then she went, uh, but she, but she took a job and.

• 1:02:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:34Speaker 06

You know, she was a quite a strong woman.

• 1:02:37Speaker 03

You started off in improv? When you started getting into comedy? Is that accurate or should I say?

• 1:02:43Speaker 06

  Yeah, that's right. That's right.

• 1:02:44Speaker 03

Did any of your siblings also do?

• 1:02:46Speaker 06

Well, my brother Brian was the first one to go.

• 1:02:48Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:49Speaker 06

He, he was bad. Yeah. He was the first one to go. He started going to Second City.

• 1:02:53Speaker 03

I was about to say Second City.

• 1:02:54Speaker 06

Taking improv class and so forth. And then he kind of progressed and before you know it, he was in the show. So I would go down there and watch, watch him and watch he and Harold Ramus and Joe Flaherty and.

• 1:03:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:03:07Speaker 06

Volusian, all these guys. They were all ahead of me and I would just go there to hang out really. Cause it was sort of a safe zone for me.

• 1:03:14Speaker 03

  For sure.

• 1:03:14Speaker 06

But, uh, I got, I, it was an accident. The first time I tried to, I tried an improv class. I was so bad. I like walked out on the street and walked about 60 blocks south, which is probably the wrong direction for me to be going back then. And all of a sudden I was like at 63rd and Stony and I'm like, what am I doing here? I don't, I don't, I should, I'm, I'm now, I'm, now I gotta run. So I felt like I was scared of the dark.

• 1:03:38Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:03:39Speaker 06

It was, that's how bad I was. And that's how, how disturbing it was to think you're good and not be good. But then years later I got, you know, someone, it was like kind of very poetic. Underneath the clock at Marshall Fields, I've stepped out and the, you know, bells are ringing at six o'clock, Christmas Eve. And there's the lady who teaches the improv. She's, you're Brian's little brother. Yeah. Do you know how to paint?

• 1:04:06Speaker 06

You mean like houses? Yeah, yeah. I'll give you a scholarship if you come and paint my kitchen. And so that's the story. But anyway.

• 1:04:13Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:04:13Travis Kelce?

  What?

• 1:04:14Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 1:04:14Speaker 03

  That's crazy.

• 1:04:15Speaker 06

It's no, it's a, it doesn't have a happy ending. Turns out she's one of those ladies that has like cats. And everything she wears is purple.

• 1:04:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:04:23Speaker 06

You know, I don't know if these people exist anymore.

• 1:04:26Speaker 03

No, they do. They definitely do.

• 1:04:27Speaker 06

  So anyway.

• 1:04:28Speaker 03

It's a lot of them listening to the show, actually.

• 1:04:30Speaker 06

Yeah. Anyway. No, some of them are. I, I've known, I've known more than a few, but, um, but this one had to have the kitchen painted purple. And, uh,

• 1:04:41Travis Kelce?

  That's wild.

• 1:04:42Speaker 06

She lived in what they call a garden apartment, which is like below the ground level. So all the pipes of the whole building came through her kitchen ceiling. So I had to paint all those hot pipes. So I was purple for about a week, eight days or so.

• 1:04:55Speaker 03

  Oh, nice.

• 1:04:56Speaker 06

It's kind of. And burned the two.

• 1:04:59Speaker 03

  What is?

• 1:04:59Travis Kelce?

Nice. And from that point on, you knew you wanted to do improv. That's crazy.

• 1:05:02Speaker 06

You know, I don't know if I've, you've ever been speckled with purple paint, but it puts a fire, it lights a fire in you.

• 1:05:09Speaker 06

It lights a fire and you gotta keep going.

• 1:05:11Speaker 03

What? So I went to, actually, so in high school, we went to Second City. I played in the jazz ensemble. This is kind of embarrassing to say. I played in the jazz ensemble. We were touring different cities and one of the cities we went to was Chicago.

• 1:05:22Travis Kelce?

  Nerd.

• 1:05:22Speaker 03

Went to Second City. It was awesome. That's my first experience with improv. I've recently have been back to an improv show for the first time since then, which was 2004. I went to Upright Citizens Brigade in LA. And I did their Ask Cat show. Are you familiar with that? Where they invite like a, a guest who does like a monologue. And then from that monologue, the crew just.

• 1:05:45Speaker 06

  Takes off.

• 1:05:46Speaker 03

And I mean, just some of the, the funniest.

• 1:05:49Speaker 06

  Did you do a monologue?

• 1:05:50Speaker 03

I did a monologue. I did a few of them.

• 1:05:52Speaker 06

  What was your theme?

• 1:05:53Speaker 03

Uh, we just took questions from like the audience and then you'd go into a story from there. I told a story about how I got lost at the county fair and mom had to try and search for us, but.

• 1:06:03Travis Kelce?

  Classic.

• 1:06:04Speaker 03

Just watching how people, how they could play off of each other. I was mesmerized just watching the whole show take place. How do you, I don't know. I, I, now that we're talking about improv, it just, I want to ask you. How do you learn to do that? Like, are there techniques? Are there things that happen behind the show where you build like a chemistry with the person? Like it just. It seemed insane to me that they were able to make all this stuff.

• 1:06:30Speaker 06

Is this gonna be yet another career change for you?

• 1:06:32Travis Kelce?

  Another one.

• 1:06:33Speaker 06

First your jazz music and then this is football thing.

• 1:06:35Travis Kelce?

I think this is after government.

• 1:06:36Speaker 06

  Podcast.

• 1:06:39Travis Kelce?

  This is after mayor.

• 1:06:40Speaker 06

The guys that are really good, I don't consider myself a great improviser. They were people that were far, that are, were always better than I was.

• 1:06:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:06:47Speaker 06

But, uh, people that are good at it, and my, and my brother Joel's very good at it, is listening to what the other person says and trying to figure out, they're giving you information. What do you do with that information?

• 1:06:59Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:06:59Speaker 06

You know, bad improvisers are people that have an idea what they're gonna do and they just sort of try to barrel through it. Well, that's a one man show. You know, it's not a team game and it's, uh, you know, the, the dictum is yes and, you know, you say something to me, I agree with that and, and I can, I come back with that. You never deny what someone says. You, you, you build on what they give you. You're starting with building blocks of information. That's how it goes. And, uh, you know, the better people can make something that's really, really magical, you know?

• 1:07:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:07:29Speaker 06

Because if you really connect to the ideas that are being shared, especially in like a group improv, like a nine person, 12 person, like they call the Herald, you know, where you could take an idea that's over, that this group over here brings up and, and weave them together into something that's an amazing, amazing experience.

• 1:07:48Travis Kelce?

  I love it, man.

• 1:07:49Speaker 03

But what is interesting about improv, it feels like they oftentimes do make great actors. They do make great writers. Like all the people on the wall in that second city when I was there back then, to see all these wonderful.

• 1:08:00Speaker 06

Well, they only put the good people on the wall.

• 1:08:06Speaker 03

  That's true. That's, that's very.

• 1:08:08Travis Kelce?

  The squad and the rest.

• 1:08:09Speaker 06

There are dozens that are buried in a shallow grave, just the other side of, of, uh, North Avenue.

• 1:08:14Speaker 03

It feels like improv as opposed to like stand up. I would like, it feels like there's like a, a natural.

• 1:08:20Speaker 06

Well, I'm nat- I'm naturally prejudiced towards, towards our team, you know?

• 1:08:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:08:25Speaker 06

I, I, we always like at Saturday Night Live.

• 1:08:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:08:28Speaker 06

You know, those people were sort of, most of them were kind of improvisational players, you know?

• 1:08:33Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:08:33Speaker 06

And the ones that could do that just seemed to be able to like work together better and. Most especially because you'd write the show on a weekly basis. You only had a couple of days to write it.

• 1:08:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:08:45Speaker 06

Those actors that had that kind of training could sort of solve the puzzle of the sketch on the air, almost, you know, it'd be like, you know, you could go like, hey, wait, this, what if, and you just sort of go there in the last hour or two, just to make it right. You know, you could rewrite just because you were aware, you had all that, all that information, what the scene was could be or what it was supposed to be.

• 1:09:08Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:09:09Speaker 06

And you could figure out an ending. So that's, when you see those actors, they basically make it two better, you know. The ones that were stand-up guys were, you know, sort of made more like stand-up pieces, more solo pieces that were spectacular.

• 1:09:22Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:09:23Speaker 06

You know, Eddie Murphy in the hot tub or whatever. You know, those guys made those kinds of performance pieces, but the ensemble pieces, and they, they're actually doing really great ones now. They, they do some really, you know, people always give me a hard time about, oh, God, the original show was so great and it's lousy now. Like, no, it's not. The show that's on now, they do stuff that's just as good as anybody ever did, all the time.

• 1:09:46Travis Kelce?

Oh, I love it, man. SNL's still one of my favorites. What do you, I do, before we get into your, your SNL career, what do you?

• 1:09:53Speaker 06

You don't have to talk about me all the time. You guys can talk about.

• 1:09:56Speaker 03

Travis did SNL. Absolutely killed it.

• 1:09:58Speaker 06

  You did it, right?

• 1:09:59Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:09:59Travis Kelce?

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I hosted, uh, two years ago. Yeah, after the, uh, the.

• 1:10:05Speaker 06

First, I saw, I mean, I saw some of it. I recorded, so, because, because I'm, I usually do something else, but I saw some of it. It was funny.

• 1:10:12Travis Kelce?

I appreciate that, man. It was, it was an absolute blast. You just buckle up and you just enjoy that ride, man. And, and like you said, this, the scenes, the sketches can change last minute because somebody has, has the brilliance of mine to, to either take something out or put a punch liner in, man.

• 1:10:27Speaker 06

And the damn producer's gotten so good. He's gotten so damn good at it. He's just ruthless.

• 1:10:32Travis Kelce?

  Who's that?

• 1:10:33Speaker 06

  Uh, I forget his name.

• 1:10:34Speaker 03

  Yeah, what's, uh, what's his name? What's, what's the?

• 1:10:36Speaker 06

  No, it was Lauren Michael.

• 1:10:39Speaker 06

  He's been on, he's been drawing a paycheck for 50 years. He's on a

• 1:10:44Travis Kelce?

I just, uh, that was one thing. The Apple TV movie, uh, Saturday night on their first, uh, first ever, uh, show, like the 90 minutes leading up to that first show with Belushi kinda going crazy and, uh, just all the madness that happens in there and the magic that happens as well of, uh, it finally coming together and them going live, man. And the rest is history, but, uh, for those SNL lovers out there, man, make sure you check that one out. Um, I did, I, I really do want to know, what do you, what do you think it is about Second City that prepares so many people? Cause it's almost like a pipeline, or at least it was for SNL for, for quite a while.

• 1:11:20Speaker 06

Well, it sure was. I mean, now it's a, now it's like a, uh, it's like, uh, University of Phoenix or something. There's like thousands of people there. They've got like a, they have like a high rise of, of like classes of people taking the thing. But it used to be, you know, sort of a gritty kind of, you know, practice squad, third string, second string, first string kind of thing. Yeah. And you had to, you know, you knew who was better than you loud and clear, you know, it was very clear who could do it and who couldn't. And if you weren't as good as that person, you just had to just keep chewing.

• 1:11:54Travis Kelce?

  Nice.

• 1:11:55Speaker 06

So, and that's how it was pretty much. I mean, recently, I don't know who's on First Name or about coming out of there, but I mean, they had a great run of people that came out of there. Like when Chris Farley and those people came out of there, that, that was a good group and the original like Belushi and, you know, myself, Gilda, Ackroyd, you know, those, those people, you know, so it comes like probably the same deal. It comes in waves, you know, but now there's so many, I don't know what to make of it, but it's, it's a great thing to learn how to do. It's a great way to, if you can live life like that too.

• 1:12:27Speaker 03

You, you talked about this, I think the improv thing. If you like you, you're bringing up that's like a team game that you're working with other people and like a collaborative experience. When Travis was on SNL, that was the one thing that stood out about SNL is the amount of people that make that show possible. And you know, you brought up Lorne. I didn't know what to expect from Lorne going to it. I didn't know that he was still like doing the whole thing in like a very active manner, like even up until like right before the thing goes live, right after that first rehearsal, he's cutting things and changing bits, like all the people, all the makeup, the wardrobe, everybody's got like their own pit crew. It felt the most like a game day for football outside of that experience.

• 1:13:13Travis Kelce?

  You ain't lying.

• 1:13:13Speaker 06

Yeah, you see that when people win a championship, they say they credit the whole organization and it really is that way.

• 1:13:19Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:13:20Speaker 06

And I've said this, you know, this old news, but like when Lorne got that show together, he demanded from NBC that they give him the best sound man, the best sound mixer, the best technical director, the best lighting guy, the best prop man. And all those guys that were on that show were the best in the business at doing it. So that when, you know, Mickey Mouse here comes up and like blows it and Willie, the prop man says, Billy, I was there waiting for you at the door. I had the pistol in my hand. You didn't get there on time.

• 1:13:59Speaker 06

And he kills you. He's just, he looks at you like, you're not there yet, son. You're just not there yet. Wow. But I also credit those people because and they were there on the original shows like your show of shows and like Milton Barrow, and they've been on the like the biggest shows of television in the early days. And so they'd seen people go from being unknown to being famous.

• 1:14:22Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:14:22Speaker 06

In a short amount of time. And they saw, they'd seen how big a jerk you can become in just a miraculously short amount of time.

• 1:14:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:14:31Speaker 06

And they, they just, you know, they, it was the same look like they just look at you going.

• 1:14:37Speaker 06

And you knew that somehow you'd screwed up like many people screwed up before.

• 1:14:41Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:42Speaker 06

And it was sort of up to you to figure it out. So they were, they were incredible teachers.

• 1:14:46Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:47Speaker 06

They, I'm sure it's still the same, yeah.

• 1:14:49Travis Kelce?

They made it extremely comfortable for a jabroni like me to come through and, and have some fun. Uh, live out one of his childhood dreams, man. Uh, in, in terms of the hosts from when you were on, uh, when you were working for SNL, who, who was the most memorable or the one maybe that, uh, that blew you away with their ability to go from one world into the, uh, SNL, uh, like, uh, hosting?

• 1:15:14Speaker 06

There's only one that stands above all others. The man that, uh,

• 1:15:20Speaker 06

when they made the song, we are the world. I don't know who it was, said, hey, the Statue of Liberty just walked in. And it was Ray Charles.

• 1:15:29Travis Kelce?

Oh, wow. Ooh. Holy cow. Nice.

• 1:15:32Speaker 06

Ray Charles completely buries every other entertainer I've ever met or worked with or read about.

• 1:15:40Travis Kelce?

Why is that? In what way? I'm gonna make it do what it do, baby.

• 1:15:43Speaker 06

Ray Charles, that night came on, not only did he memorize all his lines.

• 1:15:49Speaker 06

I mean, I, as a teacher, I don't want to say Ray Charles was not using cue cards. Okay? I don't say that. Ray Charles was not using cue cards. Ray Charles knew all his lines cold. Ray Charles came on and played solo. He played with the Raylets. He played with his septet and he played with the Saturday Night Live orchestra and he may have played with his quintet as well. And he killed and murdered every single one of them. And you know, you, at the end of that show, they play that song, they play the song, saxophone's playing, you're like, hey, man, I had a great week. You're up there on the stage and you're waving to people? I did not want to stand on that stage. I had no business being on the stage with Ray Charles. That's awesome.

• 1:16:31Travis Kelce?

Wow. That is so fucking cool, man. I would not gonna lie, wasn't expecting Ray, man. That's awesome.

• 1:16:38Speaker 06

  He was the coolest man.

• 1:16:39Travis Kelce?

Well, you got the the 50th season celebration coming up. You are you gonna go back to the old stomping grounds?

• 1:16:46Speaker 06

Yeah, certainly. Yeah, I actually, I I told him I'd like to host one this year. So maybe if I get organized, I think that I I think I did it two other times and when I was there. So I'd like to try it one more time. It's that it might be the last time to try it.

• 1:17:01Travis Kelce?

When you go back, do you have like skits that you would have in mind?

• 1:17:05Speaker 06

When I go back, the guys down at the desk say, do you have a photo ID, sir?

• 1:17:13Speaker 06

  And I gotta

• 1:17:13Speaker 03

  No chance.

• 1:17:14Speaker 06

I gotta go, would you mind dialing this number and seeing if someone will come down and get me? We used to breeze through that place, you know, we that was our

• 1:17:21Speaker 03

Lauren, they're giving me a hard time again.

• 1:17:24Speaker 06

I can't get through security. I cannot get through security. They're not kidding around.

• 1:17:29Travis Kelce?

I love it, man. Well, hopefully we'll be able to see you host one this year.

• 1:17:32Speaker 03

Yeah, let's let's transition a bit to the movie career. What um, you know, we talked about some of your iconic movies earlier. We just golfed, so we got to bring up Caddyshack. You talked about being a caddy earlier.

• 1:17:41Travis Kelce?

Was your character based off somebody like when you were when you were on the course?

• 1:17:45Speaker 06

Oh, yeah. My character, my my character originally had one small scene in the movie. And I did have one line in the movie. I can't remember what it was exactly. But there was another greenskeeper, a Scottish man. But they end up liking my stuff and they kept asking me to come back down and shoot more stuff.

• 1:18:03Travis Kelce?

So that stuff Stuff wasn't, yeah.

• 1:18:05Speaker 06

My stuff wasn't in the script, no.

• 1:18:06Travis Kelce?

That is fucking gold, man. They're like, you gotta get more of this guy.

• 1:18:12Speaker 06

Well, I was having fun, you know, and I had the spirit of it. You know, I was a caddy too, so. And I'd been a greenskeeper. I'd actually been a greenskeeper as well. So I had that thing nailed, screwed and glued, you know, I could come in and empower those positions.

• 1:18:28Speaker 03

You keeping the lawn, you keeping the lawn in the back looking nice and tight? Just just in case you need to take a few wedges back there?

• 1:18:34Speaker 06

No, no, no, no. Mine mine mine is a waste area.

• 1:18:41Speaker 06

Did you realize at the time that that movie would be the icon that it ended up becoming? Even before? No, back then you were just doing it to have fun. Yeah. You didn't think about. Gosh. You didn't, you were just having the most fun, you know, and that was, that was a crazy, that was a bunch of really, really funny people. In one place. That was, that was a dangerous group of funny people. We, you know, we lost some people on that movie. There were some people that tried to compete on that movie and just, there you go. Downstream, there they went. But there, that was, you know, think about who those characters were, you know? Absolutely. Ted Knight and Rodney, Chevy and.

• 1:19:20Travis Kelce?

  Chevy, so cool, man.

• 1:19:21Speaker 06

It was a great bunch of characters. It was really Brian, I'm forgetting most everybody, Michael. But it was, it was a nice bunch. We talked about this out on the course and earlier. Kingpin is a, Lane Johnson and I would just rave about that movie and quote Erma Kraken. Is Erma Kraken the best movie villain of all time potentially? Well, he says some of the cruelest things. I mean, just like, talk about just a bad guy. Oh, just a bad guy. Yeah. Not you, not you.

• 1:19:54Speaker 06

I had to change hats here. This is the caveman, this is the official logo of the, of the, the design team, the, the builders and grinders. Yeah, that was a cruel, the cruellest thing I ever said professionally. We were doing a scene, we're in a coffee shop scene and I'm just playing this total creep and I think I'm stealing bags of sugar at the time or something, I don't know what I'm doing. But I look over at some women at the next table and I say, hey, how are you? And one of the ladies, they were just like day players, they, they didn't have lights. She said, I'm okay. I said, no, not you. You, you. And it was just the meanest, meanest thing I could do.

• 1:20:39Speaker 06

And there was this silence that was so, so horrible.

• 1:20:45Speaker 06

It was so horrible and the director, the Fairlys, they just let it go. They just let this horrible thing just sink in. And finally, after about 99 seconds, they said, cut. And I had to like go get on my knees in front of this woman saying, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. I'm just playing a horrible person. You're very, very beautiful. You're very beautiful. If I didn't have to work right now, we'd leave, you know, we'd leave. It was so horrible. I was just like, oh God, please say cut so I can get this apology over with. It was so bad.

• 1:21:22Travis Kelce?

I gotta know how this movie came about, man. Did you like know exactly the character and like how to portray him? Or did you kind of just like fall into it?

• 1:21:31Speaker 06

I kind of, well, they certainly, I mean, the Fairlys wrote a really, you know, pretty great sketch of it. But to their credit, they kept saying, and I can pimp them now because it's it worked. But they would say, how about if you say this? And it would be, I'd say, let me try something. And because they would, they'd sort of throw one up there on the wall. They were throwing spaghetti on the wall all the time.

• 1:21:53Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 1:21:53Speaker 06

But it made you always think more, like, okay, no, is the opposite of improv. But yes, and yeah, yeah, yeah, that idea, but something. So it made it just really fun. And it just kept getting better. And, and the more they said, they would suggest ridiculous things, you go, okay, how about if you go in that, I'll go in, I got that, I got that area. But how about if I knock down a five iron instead? It was sort of like that. It was sort of like, yeah, I know where you're going here, but let me see what I can do.

• 1:22:25Travis Kelce?

It seems like you're a natural athlete. Were you always a bowler as well, or?

• 1:22:29Speaker 06

  Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm a natural athlete.

• 1:22:31Travis Kelce?

  Just a natural.

• 1:22:31Speaker 03

  We saw that.

• 1:22:32Speaker 06

Yeah, actually, actually, I'm very proud of that. All those strikes I rolled, I rolled those live. I rolled all those strikes.

• 1:22:40Speaker 03

Did you nail those last three consecutive?

• 1:22:42Speaker 06

  Every single one I rolled.

• 1:22:42Speaker 03

  You turkey that last frame?

• 1:22:44Speaker 06

  I rolled them live.

• 1:22:45Speaker 03

  Against Roy?

• 1:22:45Travis Kelce?

  That's awesome.

• 1:22:46Speaker 06

And I nailed them all. They couldn't, you know, because all they're thinking is how many takes is this going to take?

• 1:22:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:22:52Speaker 06

Every single one I rolled, every single one I rolled, I rolled a strike. That was my, that may have been an athletic peak for me, I gotta think. That was pretty good. Of course, they're editing of that movie. What's that song? Who was with us? Well, Showdown. It's like, uh, yellow. Is it Showdown? The music of that, that pull off thing and the hair thing?

• 1:23:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:23:13Speaker 06

The hair thing was a really good thing, too.

• 1:23:15Speaker 03

You nailed that. I mean, oh my.

• 1:23:20Travis Kelce?

I send those memes and that little short video out to everyone when I'm just feeling unstoppable. You turn and it right, the hair, dude, it is fucking gold.

• 1:23:31Speaker 03

  So good.

• 1:23:32Speaker 06

When I get my special Oscar, when they wheel me out, that's the footage I want.

• 1:23:41Travis Kelce?

  It's so good.

• 1:23:43Speaker 06

Yeah, that was, I, I, and I like to say, the first day at, at work in the, in the makeup trailer, I said, there's, I'm next to Woody Harrelson. I go like, Woody, what are you gonna do with your hair? He said, I'm going with the comb over. And I said, me too.

• 1:23:59Speaker 06

My comb over guy was the comb over guy.

• 1:24:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:24:02Travis Kelce?

  Nice. That's so cool, man.

• 1:24:04Speaker 06

We both had some pretty funny comb overs in that one.

• 1:24:07Speaker 03

There was some great hair scenes.

• 1:24:09Speaker 06

I had to go to, I had to, I knew, I didn't see the movie and I, and I only really saw,

• 1:24:15Speaker 06

I only really saw what I shot. I didn't see like all this other stuff that they'd done.

• 1:24:19Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:24:19Speaker 06

Like the landlord stuff with the lady.

• 1:24:21Speaker 03

  Oh, my gosh.

• 1:24:22Speaker 06

It was so gruesome. It's so horrible. Shade. I'm gonna send you a VCR.

• 1:24:28Speaker 03

  Mr. Muntz, and I do.

• 1:24:31Speaker 06

And this stuff was so rough and so raw. And I took my son Luke to it and he was 10. And I never, I didn't see a lot of this stuff and there was stuff.

• 1:24:39Speaker 03

  Oh, my God.

• 1:24:40Speaker 06

There was stuff. There was stuff that was in the movie that, uh, when we were doing it, I said, no, no, no, you can't use that. And he's, no, no, no, just say it. We're not gonna use it. I'm like, no, no, you're not gonna say it. And they, they cheated and they cut things together that were inappropriate.

• 1:24:55Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:24:56Speaker 06

  Inappropriate.

• 1:24:56Travis Kelce?

  Selfishly, I thank them.

• 1:24:58Speaker 06

I was so stunned. We walked in silence. I'm walking with my 10-year-old son. We walked in silence about two and a half blocks to a parking garage to get to the car. I hadn't said a word and he said, you were good, Dad.

• 1:25:14Speaker 03

Did he ask any questions about the

• 1:25:16Speaker 06

That wasn't obviously your fault. You were good, Dad.

• 1:25:22Travis Kelce?

  Classic, man.

• 1:25:23Speaker 03

You know what the Bible says about forgiveness? It's against it.

• 1:25:26Speaker 06

  Which time?

• 1:25:29Speaker 06

You mean the eye for an eye thing or the other thing?

• 1:25:33Speaker 03

Speaking of people that you've worked with, we talked about, you know, your favorite on SNL.

• 1:25:36Speaker 06

  That is

• 1:25:37Speaker 03

Movie. Movie, yeah, right. Who's your favorite, I don't know, actor or person you've worked with in the film industry? You did Space Jam with Michael Jordan.

• 1:25:45Speaker 06

I, well, he was probably the best shooting guard that I worked.

• 1:25:56Travis Kelce?

Larry, Larry, the best small forward?

• 1:25:58Speaker 06

  And

• 1:26:00Speaker 06

Actually, Larry was the best. He was in that movie too. He was the best small forward.

• 1:26:05Travis Kelce?

  So good.

• 1:26:07Speaker 06

That was fun. That was a very fun movie. We got to, we shot, we played golf in between scenes. It was a lot of fun.

• 1:26:12Travis Kelce?

I don't want to get too much into Space Jam, but it is one of the childhood favorites of ours. And so many others, man. How, how did, how did Space Jam come into play for you? Were you, you just like, because you were so in the sports world as well, like your fandom and your, your ability to kind of dive into all these sports, did that, did that play into getting the role or?

• 1:26:37Speaker 06

So I knew Ivan Reitman, who I've made a couple of movies with already, Ghostbusters and Stripes and Meatballs. He was a producer on it. It was a Warner Brothers movie, I think. And they had to build a basketball court for Michael on the lot. And they built like a serious basketball court with a weight room.

• 1:26:57Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:26:57Speaker 06

And it was like the game. Like if you were an American basketball player, you had to suck your way into that, that game every night. And Michael would play after work when they were on, on location or on the set on, on, in the studio. And it was like a real serious wood floor gym and the whole deal. And that was a real, like every, if you, no matter what team you played for, you had to get into that game because that was who was who and who wasn't.

• 1:27:24Travis Kelce?

  That's so cool.

• 1:27:25Speaker 06

But they, I don't know, I'd just like to say that about nine people said, you know, Michael really wants you to be in Space Jam. Which is like, I get a kick out of saying this all the time. I like pimp Michael all the time, whatever I can, but Michael really wants you to be in Space Jam. And all you have to do is not. That's all you got to do is yes.

• 1:27:41Speaker 06

Because it just means, you know, I bet you Mike can find my phone number.

• 1:27:46Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 1:27:51Speaker 06

I bet you if he sets his mind to it, he could find my phone number. Or he could find out where I live or even, you know, walk up on the street.

• 1:27:57Travis Kelce?

  That's not a hard.

• 1:27:59Speaker 06

But basically, I know there are people like that in the world and you'll meet them that they're, they feel like they never want to be indebted to anybody for anything. They don't want to owe anybody anything. So they'll have their people sort of ask something. Have you ever noticed this?

• 1:28:14Travis Kelce?

  Yes, of course.

• 1:28:15Speaker 06

So they'll have someone else ask for you.

• 1:28:17Travis Kelce?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:17Speaker 06

So I knew exactly, day one, I knew exactly what was coming here. I heard it from everybody. I probably heard it from like 13 different people. And the more people, the more I enjoyed it because I knew it was like, that son of a bitch is just twisting, knowing he's got to ask me himself.

• 1:28:33Speaker 06

But it was good. He finally he did. God bless him.

• 1:28:36Travis Kelce?

Did he catch you at the golf course? Where'd he find you?

• 1:28:39Speaker 06

I don't really remember. I don't really remember, but it was good. I was glad I was there and I, I contributed to that movie.

• 1:28:48Travis Kelce?

You had, you had to have gotten in at least one of the games.

• 1:28:51Speaker 06

Oh, no, I, I had no, no. I mean, I don't think, I may have just only shot a basket before the game. That, that game was like, I mean, they were emptying prisons to get into that game. Never be allowed to play in the NBA that were playing in that game. There were just some amazing athletes in that game and like, like the best high school players that try to show up there and they just, Michael just kicked their ass. He was just.

• 1:29:15Travis Kelce?

  Oh, I love it.

• 1:29:16Speaker 06

People would come in there thinking they had a game and Michael just murdered them. He was, he was a killer.

• 1:29:20Travis Kelce?

You just, you just don't have like stories or like a legend like that anymore. Like everything is just so social media forward that like stuff like that just gets posted and the story of it, the legend of it never like rides anymore. And I just love stuff like that, like, like stories of Dr. J playing on the, on the playground or stories of Michael Jordan having these like basketball gyms everywhere he goes so that he can stay on top of his game while he's working, man.

• 1:29:48Speaker 06

And it was never a thing like Michael Jordan calls. Up someone and said, hey, I'm having a basketball game. It was the same deal. It's like, Michael Jordan is having a game and and the and it was not like any one at all was invited. And you could tell that no one was invited. You could tell that like Reggie Miller wasn't invited sort of, but he was, he had to be there. He was Reggie Miller. He's like, wait a minute, I'm the best shooter. I gotta, all these guys, it wasn't like any, like Michael was particularly friendly towards anybody. You know, it was like, I'm gonna kill you. It was, it was fun. It was.

• 1:30:19Travis Kelce?

Like a line out the door at Warner Brothers are just NBA stars just with their gym bag.

• 1:30:25Speaker 06

Well, every level, I mean, like every.

• 1:30:28Travis Kelce?

  PM.

• 1:30:30Speaker 06

Every, yeah, like all of UCLA, Southern Cal, every historic historic guy was there thinking that they could still play. There was a grimness about it, you know, you see that, like that dream team doc, you know, where all of a sudden it gets real serious.

• 1:30:43Travis Kelce?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:30:43Speaker 06

Well, it was like that, where you go like, oh, my God, there, you know, it wasn't exactly blood. And there wasn't exactly fighting, but it was, you know.

• 1:30:53Travis Kelce?

I would assume that Michael set the tone for that because when you watch The Last Dance and you watch The Dream Team and you hear his competitive nature, you know, you would assume that he, he definitely set that tone when everybody walked in that, in that gym, that this is for, I mean, like we're better, where these are for killers are like guys that that love to compete so much that they're gonna get, you're gonna get every ounce of it tonight. Like, I feel like that, that's.

• 1:31:19Speaker 06

It was like, don't ever play golf with them. Don't ever play golf with them. I'm telling you.

• 1:31:23Speaker 03

All right, we're gonna get to this last section. You've.

• 1:31:25Speaker 06

  What is this?

• 1:31:26Speaker 03

Gracious. It's called, We Gotta Ask. We ask you a bunch of questions. There's only a couple in here, but you don't have to.

• 1:31:32Speaker 06

  I haven't asked you.

• 1:31:33Speaker 03

We gotta ask, but you don't.

• 1:31:34Speaker 06

  I didn't ask you.

• 1:31:35Speaker 03

Well, you can absolutely ask any questions you want.

• 1:31:38Speaker 06

I don't know if I'm that way. We'll find out after you ask me.

• 1:31:40Speaker 03

All right. You don't have to answer. You could tell us to fuck off. Please, let me finish your question at least first.

• 1:31:47Speaker 03

So we recently reviewed Roadhouse, the original Patrick Swayze film.

• 1:31:51Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 1:31:52Speaker 03

There is a legend out there that you used to call the husband of Kelly Lynch, who plays Dr. Clay, anytime a particular scene came on with Patrick Swayze on the television. Is this rumor true?

• 1:32:11Speaker 06

One of the hardest things I ever.

• 1:32:16Speaker 06

How to do was to call a friend.

• 1:32:27Speaker 06

And at a late hour, I mean, very, very.

• 1:32:37Speaker 06

And not without some back and forth, should I, shouldn't I, should I, shouldn't I?

• 1:32:44Speaker 06

  And as a friend.

• 1:32:45Travis Kelce?

  You had to do it.

• 1:32:46Speaker 06

I did not, I did not identify myself, but I just.

• 1:32:52Speaker 06

  Hey, as a friend.

• 1:32:57Speaker 06

I think you should probably turn on TBS right now.

• 1:33:07Speaker 06

  Because.

• 1:33:10Speaker 06

That son of a bitch, Pat Swayze.

• 1:33:15Speaker 06

  Slamming it to your wife.

• 1:33:23Travis Kelce?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 1:33:28Speaker 06

Swayze, Swayze, may he rest in peace. He did a lot of wonderful things, a beloved guy, but that was wrong what he did.

• 1:33:39Travis Kelce?

  Dude, that's why you're, you're a legend.

• 1:33:41Speaker 03

  God, that's so good.

• 1:33:43Speaker 06

  That was wrong.

• 1:33:48Travis Kelce?

Thank you for this gold, man.

• 1:33:51Speaker 06

  This is wrong.

• 1:33:59Speaker 03

  Are we done now?

• 1:34:00Travis Kelce?

  Bill Murray, ladies and gentlemen.

• 1:34:03Speaker 03

Bill, thank you so much for coming on our show.

• 1:34:05Travis Kelce?

Pissed I missed this one, man.

• 1:34:07Speaker 03

I can, I'm sorry you weren't here for this, but. Yeah, you also missed out on the best energy bar I've ever been given in my life from Bill.

• 1:34:13Travis Kelce?

  You got some good energy?

• 1:34:15Speaker 03

The best, like, pre round, like, in round snack, I think.

• 1:34:18Speaker 06

Yeah, it's street, it's, you got it?

• 1:34:20Speaker 03

What's this thing called? Dude, I'm telling you right now, Klax snacks.

• 1:34:26Speaker 06

  Yeah, it's some.

• 1:34:26Travis Kelce?

  Klax?

• 1:34:28Speaker 06

This is it's the mini version.

• 1:34:30Speaker 03

  Fruit bar.

• 1:34:30Speaker 06

It's Claxton fruitcake. From and it's made in Claxton, Georgia, about 20 miles. This is an amazing. People have gone to war like in Europe over fruitcake. This is the greatest fruitcake ever made. And it's extraordinary. It's so damn good. And we stopped there. We stopped there last two years ago on the way.

• 1:34:54Speaker 03

  A bunch. It's real.

• 1:34:55Speaker 06

• 1:35:17Speaker 06

  It's really good.

• 1:35:18Speaker 03

Are the people paying for that space are gonna be very upset with how good this ad just was. But damn it, it's a damn good fruit bar, so they deserve it.

• 1:35:27Speaker 06

It's it's really good. And if you have I have these in your golf bag is a great thing. Cause it's like you get week around 14, you know, too much beer or whatever.

• 1:36:00Travis Kelce?

I think a little Eagles rematch. They're getting hot at the right time.

• 1:36:03Speaker 03

They are getting hot at the right time.

• 1:36:04Travis Kelce?

Getting hot at the right time.

• 1:36:06Speaker 03

It'll be I think it's it's it's in the AFC, you have the Chiefs and the Bills. And then in the NFC, Detroit and Philly seem to be the top.

• 1:36:15Speaker 06

Well, hell, I could have come up with that. You guys are supposed to be pros.

• 1:36:20Speaker 06

The Lions and Eagles. Oh, nice work, fellas.

• 1:38:12Speaker 04

I'm so glad that we did that movie and then had Bill. Like it was just teed up so well.

• 1:38:17Speaker 03

This is a good job, intern.

• 1:38:19Travis Kelce?

  Ernie McCracken himself.

• 1:38:20Speaker 03

I wanted to just rip off quotes the entire episode, but I felt like.

• 1:38:24Speaker 04

Anytime you have like an actor, but then he's just kind of.

• 1:38:27Travis Kelce?

He didn't want to talk about himself.

• 1:38:28Speaker 03

It's not his vibe, although he appreciated when you brought up some of the quotes. Are you hanging on? Are you still upset about that? I said I was sorry and I meant it. It's one of my favorite lines of that movie. Are you still upset?

• 1:38:44Travis Kelce?

I still can't believe his mom fucking laid cement. All right.
