Could've maybe dunked on Dr. J. It's fun to think about.

• 0:55Speaker 01

Do you ever feel bad after a poster?

• 0:57Speaker 02

  No.

• 0:58Speaker 01

You ever feel bad one time?

• 0:59Speaker 02

  Never.

• 0:59Speaker 01

What if a guy's like wife was there?

• 1:01Speaker 02

  Shouldn't have been there.

• 1:01Speaker 01

What if his mom just died or something?

• 1:03Speaker 02

  Well, that's sad.

• 1:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:04Speaker 02

But I don't feel bad for the dunk. I feel bad that he just lost the matriarch of his family.

• 1:09Speaker 01

  What if he cried?

• 1:10Speaker 02

  Hypothetically.

• 1:10Speaker 01

  Has someone ever cried?

• 1:11Speaker 02

I don't know, but Kendrick Perkins deleted his Twitter after I dunked on him. That's like, I think that should be on my resume.

• 1:18Speaker 01

  Yeah, somehow he's still...

• 1:20Speaker 02

  I know.

• 1:20Speaker 01

  He's still annoying.

• 1:22Speaker 02

He's back, he's back. Carry on, carry the hell on.

• 1:25Speaker 01

  Carry the hell on.

• 1:26Speaker 02

  Well, look.

• 1:56Adam Friedland?

Good evening, everybody. Welcome back to The Adam Friedland Show. I'm Adam Friedland. First off, I just want to take a moment to thank our members. The members of the Friedland Family Foundation. If you'd like to support the show, simply hit "Join" at the top of this page here on youtube.com. You'll get early access to all of our new episodes before they come out and are released to the general public. Also, as I said last week, we have a Patreon now if you prefer to support the show through Patreon. My guest this week is none other than former Los Angeles Clipper NBA superstar Blake Griffin.

• 2:38Adam Friedland?

Now, folks, it should come as no surprise that I've never taken it to the rack. I've never caught a body at the rim. So, you know, it would be easy to focus on the things that differentiate myself from a guy like Blake. But in my research, I was taken aback by just how much we had in common. So, without further ado, this.

• 3:10Adam Friedland?

If you're a newer fan of The Adam Friedland Show, you know me as a public intellectual. But what you may not know is that at one time, I was a nightclub comedian. I used to spend my weekends on the road going town to town peddling jokes for adoring fans. But life on the road was lonely, and before long, I turned to alcohol, drugs, even plus-size models. I was on a highway to hell. But then, one event woke me up. The second election of Donald John Trump. A tragedy that even my substance-riddled brain found hard to comprehend. When I looked around at my peers, it seemed like more and more of them were bending the knee to fascism.

• 3:53Adam Friedland?

As a lifelong Democrat, I no longer had a home in the world of comedy. So I walked away.

• 4:00Adam Friedland?

It's been eight months now. I got sober. I quit having sex. My new vice is the Adam Friedland Show, and celebrity interviews keep me high forty hours a week. This week, my guest was Blake Griffin, who is both a world-class athlete and also a world-class comedian. While I'd be fine being dominated mono-y mono by Mr. Griffin on the B-ball court, it would be an utter humiliation to get posterized by him in the sport of comedy. Preparing for an interview is a lot like preparing for a world championship game of hoops. So in order to get back in shape, I needed to get back in the gym. It was time for me to dust off the old microphone. In the biz, we call it a drop-in.

• 4:46Adam Friedland?

A famous comedian visits an open mic unannounced to test out new material. It had been a while since I'd been in an environment like this, and admittedly, self-doubt started to creep in. In my early years as a comedian, open mics were a second home for me, but maybe I've changed. Maybe I've become so comfortable around celebrities that I lost the ability to exist amongst nobodies and amateurs. I needed some liquid courage, so I relapsed on alcohol and had a handful of Long Island iced teas. Before I knew it, it was my time to grace the stage and show six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin that I've still got it. We're gonna have a little comedy, everybody. Let's get things started. Can we get...

• 5:26Adam Friedland?

Let's get the comedy stylings of Adam Friedland, everybody. Give it up for Adam Friedland!

• 5:35Speaker 04

Guys, what a night. Give it up for everyone we've seen tonight. So Blake Griffin is on the Amazon NBA new show. Wouldn't it be funny to ask him if he thinks the workers should be paid a living wage? Do you think that'd be good?

• 5:52Speaker 04

I'd take it. Okay. Do you think the Clippers owner Steve Ballmer ever made Blake Griffin use the Microsoft Surface Pro? You said? Okay, alright. I thank her for making me feel good. Lawyer, lawyer. Sir, the question was, is this your handwriting?

• 6:13Adam Friedland?

Another crush, like riding a bike. I only had one joke left, my big closer. A joke I've been working on for years. And if I could get this joke to work, this would truly be one of the greatest stand-up comedy sets in all of history.

• 6:30Speaker 04

Alright, so I'm trying to come up with a title for my new book.

• 6:39Speaker 04

Uh, I'm thinking, uh, "My Year of Rest and Penaxation", or "My Year of Penis and Relaxation", or "My Penis of Penis and, uh, Penaxation".

• 6:58Speaker 04

My round of applause, which one of those do you think is the best?

• 7:10Adam Friedland?

My first bomb. I was destroyed. Years of my life down the drain.

• 7:16Speaker 04

I'm trying to come up with a title for my new book. I'm thinking "Year of Rest and Penaxation",

• 7:22Adam Friedland?

but then I realized something. There were probably days in Blake Griffin's career that he shot the basketball and it didn't go in. But he kept shooting, and shooting, and shooting. And that sort of tenacity led him to almost win the second round of the NBA playoffs multiple times. So if he never stopped shooting, neither would I.

• 7:43Speaker 05

And, uh, thank you for talking about the twin flame. I don't know if you had your twin flame experience, but you'll be lucky to survive, because that motherfucker will ride till the wheels fall off. Give it up for Gwen one more time, everybody. Fantastic, uh, you know, you can have a backing track, too. You can have somber, by-the-fire-side vibe track if you want. Alright, we're gonna have some more comedy. Can we get Adam Friedland back up, everybody? Give it up for Adam Friedland again. Give it for Adam Friedland, everybody.

• 8:14Adam Friedland?

You know about me. You remember Maury?

• 8:17Speaker 04

He said, "You don't know me"?

• 8:23Speaker 04

So anyway, guys, I'm thinking of a title for my new book. I'm thinking, uh, "My Year of Rest and Penaxation." Or "My Year of Penis and Relaxation." Or "My Penis of Penis and Penaxation."

• 9:16Adam Friedland?

Ballgame. That's how it's done, son. Mamba out. I was ready to interview Blake Griffin. After celebrating my victory with the fans, I headed offstage. And I went home and attempted to have the best sex of my entire life. This is Adam Friedland, signing off.

• 9:37Speaker 02

Ladies and gentlemen, uh, we have a very special host for the Adam Friedland Show this week. It's none other than Adam Friedland. He stands 6'9", weighing 117 pounds, from the University of Hogwarts, power forward, Adam Friedland.

• 9:52Speaker 04

You don't know me. You don't know me. You don't know me. You don't know me. Catch me outside.

• 9:59Speaker 02

  Yeah, how about that?

• 10:00Speaker 04

About da. That, so that was a fun comedy bit. Blake came, uh, today. He wanted to do some comedy bits.

• 10:05Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 10:06Speaker 04

I prepared one for you today. What do you think about this?

• 10:08Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 10:09Speaker 04

  Jerry Maguire?

• 10:12Speaker 02

  No.

• 10:12Speaker 04

Okay. All right. Um, thanks for coming on the show.

• 10:16Speaker 02

  Yeah, thanks for having me.

• 10:19Adam Friedland?

  It's kinda weird, like I it's just it's strange for me because it's like, I don't know, I took.

• 10:26Adam Friedland?

I guess we have to maximize the time that we have left.

• 10:28Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 10:28Adam Friedland?

It just took so long for us to find each other, but like you never really find a twin flame like, you know, like sometimes people go throughout life without finding like.

• 10:38Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 10:38Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah, type shit.

• 10:39Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 10:40Adam Friedland?

And it's like, I love this guy. We're like, uh, we immediately bonded. We had a general meeting once. And my managers told me to pitch you on doing a sports podcast together.

• 10:50Speaker 02

  Mm hmm.

• 10:51Adam Friedland?

And I was like, you know, I could get BlueChew. I could get like. I could get him, you know, this podcast thing is going big. And then I was like, career earnings, uh, 261 million dollars. And I was like, like, what gave me the right to even think that I was capable of doing that? But.

• 11:08Speaker 02

Oh, I think, I think, I think you were well within your rights.

• 11:11Adam Friedland?

Yeah. Are we gonna do it? This could be the pilot episode.

• 11:14Speaker 02

Yeah, this could be. I mean, I just intro'd you.

• 11:16Adam Friedland?

I know. It kinda, it went okay.

• 11:18Speaker 02

Are you sitting up all the way?

• 11:20Adam Friedland?

  I want to.

• 11:21Speaker 02

Okay. It just feels like I'm.

• 11:24Adam Friedland?

So, yeah, alright. So you're here for the Amazon upfronts?

• 11:29Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 11:30Adam Friedland?

You're gonna be, you're joining the studio crew of Amazon?

• 11:32Speaker 02

I am. I'll be in studio and an in-studio analyst.

• 11:35Adam Friedland?

Uh huh. And you got, you have a crazy, wacky crew? Cause you gotta think about the comedy, like, you have to like, if you guys are coming for that number one spot right now, I know Inside the NBA or go to ESPN. Is that correct?

• 11:46Speaker 02

  Yeah, that's correct.

• 11:47Adam Friedland?

So like, you know, you guys have to see what sets you guys apart or something.

• 11:50Speaker 02

Mm hmm. I think, you know, chemistry.

• 11:52Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 11:53Speaker 02

  Actual analysis.

• 11:55Adam Friedland?

That's what people love is the actual analysis on Inside the NBA.

• 11:59Speaker 02

  They're, ooh, those guys.

• 12:00Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 12:01Speaker 02

They, it's the, it's the best sports show on TV, I think.

• 12:04Adam Friedland?

It's the best show on TV? I think it's the funniest show on TV.

• 12:07Speaker 02

  Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

• 12:08Adam Friedland?

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, shout out to Amazon, shout out to Bezos.

• 12:11Speaker 02

  The other shows on Amazon.

• 12:13Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah. The Boys?

• 12:15Speaker 02

  The Boys.

• 12:15Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 12:17Speaker 02

Marvelous, did I say marvelous Ms. Maisel?

• 12:18Adam Friedland?

Ms. Maisel, yeah. The Washington Post, of course, don't get me started on that. Another Bezos property. Yeah, go ahead.

• 12:26Speaker 02

Do I kind of say it one more?

• 12:27Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 12:27Speaker 02

  Mr. And Mrs. Smith.

• 12:28Adam Friedland?

  Mr. And Mrs. Smith.

• 12:29Speaker 02

  Is that Amazon?

• 12:30Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, with Donald.

• 12:31Speaker 02

  Donald Glover.

• 12:32Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, Childish.

• 12:33Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 12:33Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 12:33Speaker 02

  Gambino, yeah.

• 12:34Adam Friedland?

  I'd say he's a grown up Gambino.

• 12:37Speaker 02

That's really good. We'll be right back.

• 12:39Adam Friedland?

His hands are so big. It's crazy. I feel like a lady in there. If you, like, I have a question for you. Do you think that the people that work at Amazon factories should be paid a higher?

• 12:54Speaker 02

  I don't know.

• 12:56Adam Friedland?

Do you think that? No, I'm just kidding.

• 12:59Speaker 02

  Go ahead.

• 13:03Adam Friedland?

All right, so, wait, so you were, you were a younger brother?

• 13:07Speaker 02

  I am a younger brother.

• 13:08Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, Taylor was your brother.

• 13:09Speaker 02

  Taylor, yes.

• 13:09Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, and he was a Hooper too.

• 13:11Speaker 02

  He was a Hooper.

• 13:12Adam Friedland?

He played you hard? Do you think they like got you league ready, kind of?

• 13:15Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:16Adam Friedland?

You think so, having an older brother?

• 13:17Speaker 02

You just know all the terms. He's just really.

• 13:19Adam Friedland?

  League ready?

• 13:20Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:21Adam Friedland?

Yeah, well, I have high basketball IQ, actually.

• 13:22Speaker 02

  League him.

• 13:23Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, league him.

• 13:24Speaker 02

That's what I used to say. League him.

• 13:25Adam Friedland?

  League him.

• 13:26Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:26Adam Friedland?

Yeah, what's his name, Jimmer Fredette's? Older brothers used to make him go to the prison in their town to play.

• 13:32Speaker 02

  In Utah?

• 13:33Adam Friedland?

No, I think he was from upstate New York, actually.

• 13:36Speaker 02

  Oh, really?

• 13:36Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, but he played at BYU.

• 13:38Speaker 02

  Right.

• 13:39Adam Friedland?

They got him to play convicts. And, yeah, I mean, like, it's so funny to imagine a Mormon kid where like, guys are like, hold my pocket.

• 13:49Speaker 02

I imagine like, it's, it's like, there's zero pressure, because it's, no, the most pressure, because you have to, you want to miss every shot when you're playing against convicts. You don't want to, you don't want to go torch convicts.

• 13:59Adam Friedland?

No, no, after what they did, I think that that's the least I could do is, that they owe society a debt.

• 14:05Speaker 02

You gotta play this little white kid.

• 14:09Speaker 02

And, by the way, if he loses, you're in here forever.

• 14:12Adam Friedland?

I can imagine, no, everyone, no one's calling fouls?

• 14:16Speaker 02

Uh, no, I don't think there are fouls in prison.

• 14:18Adam Friedland?

Do you think, who, do you think there's a guy in the league that plays prison style? Pat Bev kind of.

• 14:23Speaker 02

Yeah, there's a very obvious one you're forgetting.

• 14:26Adam Friedland?

  Draymond.

• 14:26Speaker 02

  There you go.

• 14:28Adam Friedland?

Draymond, yeah, Draymond playing prison style, yeah.

• 14:31Speaker 02

I think, I think now, now guys in prison are like, alright guys, we're playing Draymond's style. They're not like prison rules, they're like, we're playing Draymond rules.

• 14:39Adam Friedland?

There was a year where it was a little too much penis. If you remember, he was just going penis every time.

• 14:44Speaker 02

  Oh, okay, yeah.

• 14:45Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, sorry.

• 14:46Speaker 02

Yeah, well, he also had that.

• 14:47Adam Friedland?

Well, his penis also should, yeah, yeah, yeah, his penis also, yeah.

• 14:50Speaker 02

  Which had happened.

• 14:51Adam Friedland?

It was like his year of penis. My year of rest and penis, penis, my year of penis and relax, okay, whatever. Um, wait. Um, I went to WNBA semifinals with my girlfriend and her mom.

• 15:07Speaker 02

  How was that?

• 15:08Adam Friedland?

At Barclays. I gotta say, energy wise, Nets games can, you play for the Nets, they can tend to be a little bit of the traveling fans, sometimes.

• 15:18Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 15:19Adam Friedland?

Yeah, which is like a little bit, I'm sure as a, as a player on the team, maybe annoying or frustrating.

• 15:25Speaker 02

Yeah, we played the Knicks and it was like, the core of the arena was Knicks fans.

• 15:28Adam Friedland?

I went for a Lakers game there once and it was just all Lakers fans.

• 15:32Speaker 02

Lakers, Knicks, like Bulls travel pretty well, they just haven't been like as good. Boston fan, actually, Boston fans travel really well.

• 15:39Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they love, I mean, they, they love words, certain words.

• 15:44Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm, they love basketball.

• 15:46Adam Friedland?

Basketball, they like saying the word basketball.

• 15:48Speaker 02

  What else?

• 15:49Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 15:50Speaker 02

  Do you wanna say them?

• 15:51Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, bum ass.

• 15:53Speaker 02

  Bum head.

• 15:54Adam Friedland?

  Bum.

• 15:55Speaker 02

  Bam.

• 15:56Adam Friedland?

But I, when I went, um, her, my girlfriend and her mom, I guess they, they found this really not funny at all, but I was just, I was thinking for the dancers, they should have like, just sexy guys.

• 16:09Speaker 02

  Oh, male dancers, yeah, yeah.

• 16:10Adam Friedland?

Just like huge, like, like eggplant print.

• 16:14Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:15Adam Friedland?

Yeah, and then they said, uh.

• 16:16Speaker 02

  Gray sweatpants?

• 16:17Adam Friedland?

They said that that's not funny, Adam, and like, uh, and please stop. And I said, well, no one is, no one's made a shot in eight minutes of my mind.

• 16:26Speaker 02

I've had a lot of time, I think.

• 16:27Adam Friedland?

I've had, my mind has wandered. There's been a, I mean, but, but I will say, energy wise, them gals were, and people were really going, going for the liberty.

• 16:38Speaker 02

  Them gals go, yeah.

• 16:39Adam Friedland?

  Them gals, yeah.

• 16:40Speaker 02

Them gals, yeah. We them gals.

• 16:42Adam Friedland?

We them gals, yeah. But they, they didn't like the sexy guys idea. I would kind of like, in another life. I mean, obviously, I'd like to be an NBA player, but like.

• 16:51Speaker 02

I could see you being a WNBA husband.

• 16:53Adam Friedland?

Husband, yeah. That's what like, just dress like a, get a BBL.

• 16:56Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:57Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 16:57Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:58Adam Friedland?

  Wear Fashion Nova.

• 16:59Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:00Adam Friedland?

  Just be an absolute slut.

• 17:01Speaker 02

  Fashion Nova, huge glasses.

• 17:03Adam Friedland?

My, yeah, my wife, Reiner. Yeah.

• 17:07Adam Friedland?

  Be dating BG.

• 17:08Speaker 02

Yeah. I usually, I could see you being like the one where like, there's a little scrap on the court and you stand up.

• 17:13Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah. Come on!

• 17:15Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:15Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 17:16Speaker 02

  Get her!

• 17:17Adam Friedland?

  Get her!

• 17:18Speaker 02

  Get her!

• 17:18Adam Friedland?

  Expose her!

• 17:19Speaker 02

  You're taking off fake earrings.

• 17:22Adam Friedland?

Don't make me get it. Hold my, hold my baby. Hold my baby. I get pregnant. I, I get pregnant. I'm like a sea, male seahorse. I'm a WNBA basketball husband.

• 17:33Speaker 02

  Seahorse.

• 17:34Adam Friedland?

  I'm a seahorse.

• 17:36Speaker 02

I don't know. It seems like it could fit you.

• 17:38Adam Friedland?

Yeah. I mean, um, what was your, what, like, you're, I, are you like officially the best NBA rookie of all time? Do you think you, you hold that title?

• 17:48Speaker 02

  Maybe. Maybe one of them.

• 17:51Adam Friedland?

  I think so.

• 17:51Speaker 02

Uh, I think maybe the last unanimous Rookie of the Year.

• 17:54Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 17:55Speaker 02

It's the All-Star My Rookie Year. And, uh, previous to that, it was Yao Ming and Tim Duncan. Yao Ming fan vote, China, a lot of people.

• 18:03Adam Friedland?

We're actually tran- transitioning pro CCP on this show.

• 18:07Speaker 02

  Oh, really?

• 18:08Adam Friedland?

Yeah, I think you gotta read the tea leaves.

• 18:09Speaker 02

And what exactly do you have to do to transition to that?

• 18:13Adam Friedland?

I just think that what they're doing over there is fire. I saw, I saw when Isha Speed went over there.

• 18:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 18:19Adam Friedland?

He was having a lot of fun.

• 18:20Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 18:21Adam Friedland?

  They have flying cars.

• 18:22Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 18:22Adam Friedland?

You know, we got this guy over here, type shit.

• 18:25Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 18:26Adam Friedland?

This type shit guy over here.

• 18:27Speaker 02

That's my new favorite. Type shit.

• 18:29Adam Friedland?

  Type shit?

• 18:30Speaker 02

You know what I'm saying? Type shit.

• 18:31Adam Friedland?

You're trying to get back in the league. You're trying to chill with those 19-year-olds.

• 18:35Speaker 02

  Yeah, you know.

• 18:35Adam Friedland?

You wanna hang with the Thompson Twins. Yeah.

• 18:37Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 18:38Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, type shit.

• 18:39Speaker 02

  Amon.

• 18:40Adam Friedland?

  Amon.

• 18:40Speaker 02

  And Oscar.

• 18:41Adam Friedland?

  Them boys can play.

• 18:42Speaker 02

  Man, them boys.

• 18:43Adam Friedland?

  Them boys can play.

• 18:44Speaker 02

  Them boys, them gals play.

• 18:46Adam Friedland?

The, the, uh, Asur, he had like, that, that game again, the Brunson game.

• 18:51Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 18:51Adam Friedland?

That entire fourth quarter, he had like, he had the straps.

• 18:55Speaker 02

  Clamps.

• 18:55Adam Friedland?

The clamps. He had him on an island. He was Darrell Rebus.

• 18:58Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 18:59Adam Friedland?

And then like Brunson getting him right at the end, it was like, it was such a moment. I think it's a.

• 19:03Speaker 02

  Brunson's so good.

• 19:04Adam Friedland?

  He's so good. He's a coach's son?

• 19:08Speaker 02

  He is a coach's son.

• 19:10Adam Friedland?

  Your dad played ball?

• 19:11Speaker 02

My dad played, yeah, college basketball.

• 19:13Adam Friedland?

And your mom went to, was it hokie too?

• 19:16Speaker 02

Uh, I don't know what hokie is.

• 19:18Adam Friedland?

  What is a hokie? Hokie?

• 19:20Speaker 02

  Virginia Tech hokies?

• 19:21Adam Friedland?

What is it? What are you guys called?

• 19:22Speaker 02

  Sooners?

• 19:23Adam Friedland?

  Sooners, yeah.

• 19:24Speaker 02

  Because, uh...

• 19:25Adam Friedland?

It's all a Greek to me.

• 19:26Speaker 02

In 1889, there was a land run for the territory that became known as Oklahoma.

• 19:31Adam Friedland?

  Alright.

• 19:32Speaker 02

  And the P- sorry.

• 19:33Adam Friedland?

Sorry, we don't have much time. Yeah, yeah, faster, faster.

• 19:35Speaker 02

So the Sooners were the people just, they went early, they cheated.

• 19:38Adam Friedland?

  Oh, they went early?

• 19:38Speaker 02

  Yeah. But hokies are cool.

• 19:41Adam Friedland?

  Okay.

• 19:42Speaker 02

  Sorry.

• 19:43Adam Friedland?

Sorry, I didn't mean to call you hokies. I don't know what the freaking nicknames are.

• 19:47Speaker 02

  Read the cards.

• 19:48Adam Friedland?

How many Republicans are in the NBA? All of them, kind of. Seventeen?

• 19:53Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 19:53Adam Friedland?

  Who's the, who's, who's, Jimmy Buckets?

• 19:56Speaker 02

  Probably.

• 19:57Adam Friedland?

  Probably.

• 19:57Speaker 02

  I don't know for sure.

• 19:58Adam Friedland?

I kind of feel like he's got a little Republican.

• 20:00Speaker 02

  Did he get pub lives?

• 20:01Adam Friedland?

He's a little bit like pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.

• 20:03Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 20:04Adam Friedland?

  I was an orphan.

• 20:04Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 20:05Adam Friedland?

Yeah. Has the demographic changed in the NBA? Like, did you notice that?

• 20:09Speaker 02

  Still mostly black.

• 20:12Adam Friedland?

He's got chops, actually. No, like, I remember when Kobe was like a rookie, there was an understating that he was a little bit of a pariah because he grew up like up, upper middle class. You know, and, um, the like, nowadays it seems like it's kind of like a, like a very much a middle class, upper middle class league. Is that, is that fair?

• 20:32Speaker 02

Maybe. There's a lot of, like, there, I mean, think about, there's a lot of guys that are former NBA play, like Suns, Suns of NBA players.

• 20:38Adam Friedland?

  It's like Hollywood.

• 20:39Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 20:40Adam Friedland?

  It's like nepos.

• 20:41Speaker 02

  A lot of nepotism.

• 20:41Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. But does AAU cost a lot of money? Is that right?

• 20:46Speaker 02

Not really, no. And you get, like, you, you get free stuff. They pay for travel, they pay for, they give you shoes.

• 20:51Adam Friedland?

How much, how much stuff did you get before you were in the league?

• 20:54Speaker 02

  I do, I don't think I bought a, I haven't bought a pair of basket, sorry, it's a little bit of a brag. I haven't bought a pair of basketball shoes since I was probably like 13.

• 21:04Adam Friedland?

That's not a good flex dude. What's the word?

• 21:07Speaker 02

Well, you were just asking about before, when you're, when you have no money.

• 21:10Adam Friedland?

I'm saying pre NIL, pre NIL.

• 21:12Speaker 02

Oh, you were just getting like free stuff, like shoes and gear and stuff.

• 21:15Adam Friedland?

LeBron had an Escalade in high school.

• 21:17Speaker 02

Yeah, why wasn't LeBron? Still not.

• 21:21Adam Friedland?

Why you would? Sorry about that.

• 21:23Speaker 02

  No, it's fine.

• 21:24Adam Friedland?

He was your, was he your goat growing up?

• 21:27Speaker 02

I loved LeBron like, I mean, he, he got into the league, what, oh four? So I was like, I was in high school still.

• 21:32Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 21:33Speaker 02

  He's still playing.

• 21:34Adam Friedland?

  As a.

• 21:35Speaker 02

I was in high school when he came in, I went to college, I played for 14 years, I retired and he's still playing.

• 21:42Adam Friedland?

  Why can't we?

• 21:42Speaker 02

  It's crazy.

• 21:43Adam Friedland?

Why are people like appreciating it more?

• 21:45Speaker 02

I think people are, people constantly are talking about what he's doing at age 40.

• 21:49Adam Friedland?

People are talking about, and I think this is like segueing back to you being now in NBA media, right? But like, it seems like it's gotten a little wacky this year. Like, like Stephen A is threatening to have, he's threatening to fight LeBron, like, it's like a little bit like, can we just, he's 24, 8 and 8, and he's 40. He's 22 years in the league.

• 22:12Speaker 02

What he's doing at age 40 is insane.

• 22:15Adam Friedland?

There's no reason for him to actually retire at this.

• 22:17Speaker 02

The problem is, I think the problem is, is that like, when it's like a guy that's up for like the goat debate, it's like you, you really, like, you want him to like contend for championships every year. The Lakers roster just wasn't, they, they weren't good enough. They truly weren't good enough.

• 22:31Adam Friedland?

  He's 40.

• 22:32Speaker 02

I know, but I'm just saying, the goat debate, that's, that's the burden that he has to carry.

• 22:36Adam Friedland?

They had three guys on the team.

• 22:38Speaker 02

  They had.

• 22:39Adam Friedland?

Rui, I guess Rui, they had four.

• 22:41Speaker 02

  Austin, Austin Reeves.

• 22:43Adam Friedland?

  Your little bro?

• 22:44Speaker 02

  Little bro.

• 22:44Adam Friedland?

  Little bro?

• 22:45Speaker 02

  He's a hokey, or a Sooner.

• 22:46Adam Friedland?

Sooner. You got annoyed when I asked you about Austin. I was like, I was like, do you like look out for him as a Sooners?

• 22:54Speaker 02

Uh, did you, when we had to.

• 22:55Adam Friedland?

And you were like, I don't know, he was a transfer dude. What am I supposed to fucking do dude?

• 22:59Speaker 02

He was there for one year. It's like, you know, look out for yourself dude. I got a lot of shit to worry about.

• 23:03Adam Friedland?

Who's your baby bro? Did you have baby bros?

• 23:06Speaker 02

  Baby bruh?

• 23:06Adam Friedland?

  In the league?

• 23:07Speaker 02

Uh, yeah, I got my young boys.

• 23:09Adam Friedland?

Who are you, like, who are you? Who's the fan? Do you like call them and stuff and say like?

• 23:12Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 23:13Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, get your head right.

• 23:14Speaker 02

  Yeah. Hey, hey, lock in.

• 23:16Adam Friedland?

  Lock in?

• 23:17Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 23:17Adam Friedland?

  Type shit?

• 23:18Speaker 02

Yeah, type shit. Lock in type shit.

• 23:19Adam Friedland?

  Lock in type shit?

• 23:21Speaker 02

Keep killing type shit. Stay healthy fam type shit.

• 23:23Adam Friedland?

Who are, who are your baby boys?

• 23:25Speaker 02

  My baby bros?

• 23:26Adam Friedland?

  For life?

• 23:26Speaker 02

Um, you know, my young guys, like Bruce Brown, I played with in Detroit. That's like, that's my guy. Peyton Pritchard, Grant Williams. You know, it's like the guy, the young guys that you play with, uh, as an older player. You just become like, you become, um, you become OG and stuff.

• 23:42Adam Friedland?

And then you see a little something in them.

• 23:43Speaker 02

  Yeah, you see some.

• 23:44Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. And they've all, they've all like kind of thrived.

• 23:48Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, mostly because of my, you know.

• 23:50Adam Friedland?

  From what you told them?

• 23:51Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 23:51Adam Friedland?

What'd you tell them? Like you took them on a drive or something?

• 23:54Speaker 02

Yeah, I said, hey, get in.

• 23:55Adam Friedland?

  Get in.

• 23:56Speaker 02

And we just, I would just, just go somewhere.

• 23:58Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. What kind of car? Like a fifty-seven Chevy kind of like, like kind of like a distant dad?

• 24:04Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 24:04Adam Friedland?

Like after the divorce, but you come back and you have a cool car. So then people are like, dad's is awesome.

• 24:09Speaker 02

Like the car that Denzel Washington drove in, um, uh, Training Day.

• 24:13Adam Friedland?

  Mm-hmm, exactly. Yeah.

• 24:15Speaker 02

And I would usually make them smoke PCP.

• 24:17Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. You make them get wet.

• 24:21Adam Friedland?

Ting pong, yeah, shit on me. Jake, yeah.

• 24:25Speaker 02

They're like, what are you doing?

• 24:26Adam Friedland?

  That's good. You're.

• 24:27Speaker 02

Thanks. I've been working on impressions.

• 24:29Adam Friedland?

You should, you should watch season four of Eastbound to like get in the mindset of NBA, like being a sports pundit media.

• 24:35Speaker 02

Season four of Eastbound and Down?

• 24:37Adam Friedland?

Yeah. Cause that's, that's when he joins the sport, the show and then he like, he gets his, he gets his juice.

• 24:42Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 24:43Adam Friedland?

He gets his salt back. He gets, yeah, he gets his.

• 24:45Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 24:46Adam Friedland?

  He gets his type shit.

• 24:47Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 24:50Speaker 02

I would love if we could just put spice together all the type shit.

• 24:53Adam Friedland?

You get a type shit. Folks, I want to talk to you about Quince. Now, as you know, I'm not into chasing trends. I'm more of a classic man. • 26:32Adam Friedland?

Thank you. Has there ever been a guy that just like, right before a game, has to take a big one, right? Crap, right?

• 26:38Speaker 02

  Yeah, for sure.

• 26:39Adam Friedland?

And then they don't wipe properly? Like a Pat Bev-style defender? And like, can you imagine like, how annoying it would be if Pat Bev just like?

• 26:46Speaker 02

  Smelled?

• 26:47Adam Friedland?

  Like, smelled like poop?

• 26:48Speaker 02

  I can imagine.

• 26:48Adam Friedland?

Can you imagine? It would be equally like, as insane.

• 26:52Speaker 02

Yeah, it's tough. Sometimes like, you know, like, somebody's got a little odor to them, you know? And guarding. Especially in the post, one time I'm not gonna say who, but a guy had dreadlocks. And I'm guarding him in the post and he kinda banged and the dreadlocks just engulfed my face.

• 27:08Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, it smelled like marijuana?

• 27:09Speaker 02

And it came back, no, worse than that. It smelled like what I imagine Willie Nelson's braids smell like.

• 27:15Adam Friedland?

Did it smell like, so you smell like a hobo?

• 27:17Speaker 02

And it's, yeah, it just was, it was, we actually don't say that, we say unh- unhomed.

• 27:22Adam Friedland?

  Unhoused, unhoused.

• 27:23Speaker 02

  Well, unhomed.

• 27:23Adam Friedland?

Unhomed, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Homeless.

• 27:27Speaker 02

Home, yeah, less, less than a home.

• 27:29Adam Friedland?

Have you, like, uh, who is it? It's not DJ, that's your boy.

• 27:35Speaker 02

No, I'm not gonna, I just said I'm not gonna say his name.

• 27:37Adam Friedland?

It was Kenneth Faried, it was Kenneth Faried.

• 27:38Speaker 02

  God, you're good.

• 27:39Adam Friedland?

  Was it Kenneth Faried?

• 27:41Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 27:41Adam Friedland?

  Was it Kenneth Faried?

• 27:43Speaker 02

No, it wasn't Kenneth Faried, shout out Kenneth Faried, the manimal, shout out the manimal.

• 27:47Adam Friedland?

There's like, seems to be like friction between the eras right now. I think it's cause like, this like, this like, like Stephen A thing is kind of ushered in like. Like to me, it's like if you look at the, just the, what, like, it's 22 years in, like, it's. It's kinda hard to say anyone's better at basketball than LeBron James is, right? I think for me, a little bit, like, and I think that also when I've, I've been watching basketball my whole life. Like, it just seems like they're so good. They're so fucking good right now, and it's just like, instead of like debating eras, just be like, like, why can't people just like appreciate just how good people are at basketball now?

• 28:25Speaker 02

I agree, I, I, I say that a lot, I think sometimes we get too into the weeds and like debating like this guy, this guy, trying to break them down. When it's like, just appreciate how good he is and what he's doing. When somebody's done playing, then you can sort of like step back and analyze their whole career. My whole thing with the, the debate is.

• 28:44Speaker 02

Athletes get judged off winning, right? Like, Michael Jordan won better than anybody.

• 28:48Adam Friedland?

I don't judge them off winning.

• 28:49Speaker 02

You know what I mean, like?

• 28:50Adam Friedland?

I don't judge anyone, if they don't go to the finals, I think they're still a good guy.

• 28:54Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, I never won, but.

• 28:56Adam Friedland?

I know, but it's fun, you're, no, but you're still nice at ball.

• 29:00Speaker 02

  Type shit.

• 29:01Adam Friedland?

  Type shit.

• 29:01Speaker 02

Same, thanks. So do you think he's the best player of all time?

• 29:05Adam Friedland?

He's, okay, I'm a, I'm a Laker fan, but like, to be honest with you, I'm a Kobe fan, right? Like, and like, I will say, like, when we won in the bubble, I, I thought it was. I like looked inside my soul. I was like, it does feel a little bit different. But I still think he's the best basketball player of all time.

• 29:22Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 29:23Adam Friedland?

I think that it might be, do you think that maybe a little bit, uh, Michael Jordan might just be like a little bit like bored? And, and maybe they took the team away and maybe he's a little bit, and then, uh, he's just, he's just a little bit.

• 29:35Speaker 02

  Has he been saying things?

• 29:37Adam Friedland?

I think that it maybe through Stephen A, it seems like maybe he's just been torturing this guy.

• 29:42Speaker 02

  That's his puppet.

• 29:43Adam Friedland?

I think he's, I think a little bit like he's been torturing this guy for 22 years.

• 29:47Speaker 02

  Stephen A has?

• 29:48Adam Friedland?

  No, well, Jordan.

• 29:50Speaker 02

  Jordan.

• 29:51Adam Friedland?

He won't talk to him. He wore 23. That's so mean. It's really mean.

• 29:57Speaker 02

He does talk to him. They don't have like a relationship. That doesn't mean they don't, they've never spoken. Michael Jordan was an owner for the majority of LeBron's career.

• 30:06Adam Friedland?

A hell of an owner too.

• 30:07Speaker 02

  Oh, one of the best.

• 30:10Adam Friedland?

  Should we buy a team?

• 30:11Speaker 02

That'd be great. How much money do you have?

• 30:14Adam Friedland?

  WNBA money maybe?

• 30:16Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 30:16Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 30:17Speaker 02

  Oh yeah.

• 30:17Adam Friedland?

  We, I bought it.

• 30:18Speaker 02

We should buy a WNBA team.

• 30:20Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 30:20Speaker 02

Then we can implement the male sexy dancers.

• 30:23Adam Friedland?

The big dick, the big, the gray sweatpants. The gray sweatpants.

• 30:30Speaker 02

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to gray sweatpants boys.

• 30:33Adam Friedland?

  To the knee.

• 30:34Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 30:37Adam Friedland?

  I'm dressed like a hoe.

• 30:38Speaker 02

  That would drive male.

• 30:40Adam Friedland?

All the girls are my girlfriends.

• 30:41Speaker 02

  That would drive female viewership.

• 30:43Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 30:44Speaker 02

And attendance. Which is what the most, that's one of the most important things for the WNBA, female support.

• 30:51Adam Friedland?

What, what is, uh, not playing basketball been like?

• 30:56Speaker 02

Um, just kind of, you know, it's been, it's been nice to like have a, you know, transition to a different part of my life.

• 31:03Adam Friedland?

You did one thing so much, right? You did, and then, uh, to get to the level you were at, I mean, it was, it was your entire life at a certain point, right?

• 31:12Speaker 02

Yeah, it was, uh, but I also had things to step into. I had, I had like other projects going on outside of basketball that I just kind of like stepped right into that and that helps, that helps that transition. When you don't, when you haven't figured out what you want to do after basketball and you retire, I've, I've kind of seen it. And guys are kind of, they're, it's a little bit shell shocked, right? They're like, what now?

• 31:31Adam Friedland?

  Do you guys get depressed?

• 31:33Speaker 02

I would imagine, yeah, some have that, some, their entire identity, like you said, for your whole life, whole life. Is like, it's no longer there, it's no longer taken away. But it also helps when you retire on your own terms. Like, some guys get phased out, some guys, like, they wanna still play, they can't.

• 31:48Adam Friedland?

They keep trying to get ten day contracts or stuff. Mello kinda got that treatment.

• 31:53Speaker 02

A little bit, yeah, but he still, like, got onto teams, you know?

• 31:56Adam Friedland?

He had that fun Portland situation.

• 31:59Speaker 02

I mean, he was Oklahoma City, Houston.

• 32:03Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 32:04Speaker 02

  Lakers, Portland.

• 32:05Adam Friedland?

  Is he the coolest guy?

• 32:07Speaker 02

  Mello's awesome.

• 32:08Adam Friedland?

  Who's the coolest guy?

• 32:10Speaker 02

  Uh, Jamal.

• 32:13Speaker 02

Well, first of all, as a Christian man, God.

• 32:16Adam Friedland?

  God, God won.

• 32:18Speaker 02

  God won, Jesus two.

• 32:19Adam Friedland?

  Martin Luther King.

• 32:20Speaker 02

Abraham three, Martin Luther King four.

• 32:22Adam Friedland?

  Gandhi.

• 32:23Speaker 02

Gandhi, seven. Gandhi's not in my top five. And that might be controversial.

• 32:30Adam Friedland?

  Abraham Lincoln, JFK. Obama.

• 32:34Speaker 02

Obama, type shit. I mean, that, listen.

• 32:37Adam Friedland?

Tell us a little bit about this.

• 32:39Speaker 02

  Muhammad Ali.

• 32:40Adam Friedland?

Tell us a little bit about this.

• 32:42Speaker 02

What do all these men have in common?

• 32:44Adam Friedland?

Tell us about, yeah, so you made this shirt.

• 32:47Speaker 02

  I didn't make that shirt.

• 32:48Adam Friedland?

Why would you make this shirt? It's a little bit cringe, a little bit, no?

• 32:52Speaker 02

You know, I, I just wanted people to know, like, what the type of stuff I'm doing.

• 32:56Adam Friedland?

When you walked in for that meeting, did you laugh?

• 32:59Speaker 02

I definitely saw the shirt, and I was like.

• 33:03Adam Friedland?

What the fuck are they doing? Was that Almer did that?

• 33:05Speaker 02

Mm-hmm. That was at my free agency meeting, two thousand seventeen.

• 33:08Adam Friedland?

He's like, we're gonna make this shirt, here's a free Surface Pro. Yeah. Here's a Surface.

• 33:14Speaker 02

  Cool.

• 33:15Adam Friedland?

He's like, I'm sweating through my shirt.

• 33:17Speaker 02

I photoshopped that on the Surface Pro.

• 33:19Adam Friedland?

Yeah, I made this on a Surface Pro.

• 33:24Adam Friedland?

What was that transition of ownership like? Cause you guys were like, a really good team, right?

• 33:28Speaker 02

  Yeah, we were.

• 33:28Adam Friedland?

And then you had this drama, and normally the drama is like, they wanna make narratives in the locker room. But the drama was out, I mean, the drama actually, was the drama also in the?

• 33:39Speaker 02

  In the locker?

• 33:40Adam Friedland?

Well, didn't it come out that he was like, bringing like, other weird, like, gargoyle, rich people? Into look at the beautiful, the beautiful bodies?

• 33:50Speaker 02

Yeah, he would come in with like, his crew of, you know, it'd be like, ten, twelve people with him, and they'd come to the locker room, like, we'd all have like, towels on. One time, after a game, he, uh, he came up and he was like. I'm in a towel, comes over grabs my arm and he's got all these people in there and he goes, "Let's hear it for our, our number one star, Hip Hip." And he raised my arm and everybody, all these people go, "Hooray." And I'm sitting there like holding a towel going like,

• 34:17Speaker 02

"Hip Hip, Hooray." He did it three times, "Hip Hip, Hooray." And I was like,

• 34:22Adam Friedland?

And they're all like seventy-five years old?

• 34:25Speaker 02

I mean, some of them are like, uh, I mean,

• 34:27Adam Friedland?

Did you meet the, the V?

• 34:28Speaker 02

  Oh yeah, V Stiv?

• 34:30Adam Friedland?

  V?

• 34:30Speaker 02

  V Stiv Yon?

• 34:31Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 34:31Speaker 02

  Yeah, I know V.

• 34:32Adam Friedland?

Apparently you called her your silly rabbit?

• 34:35Speaker 02

  Yeah, my silly little rabbit.

• 34:36Adam Friedland?

  He called me-

• 34:37Speaker 02

  My waskily rabbit.

• 34:38Adam Friedland?

  My waskly rabbit?

• 34:39Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:40Adam Friedland?

Yeah. It was like, um, how were you guys responding to that in the locker room? Was it stressful or was it like?

• 34:45Speaker 02

We just kinda like laughed it off, feel like that was nuts.

• 34:48Adam Friedland?

Yeah, they're like, "We got this Sméagol guy that owns the team."

• 34:52Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:52Adam Friedland?

He keeps calling me his precious. He's like, "Welcome to the locker room, this is Debra Jewish, this is Morten Kai Mendel." "We're gonna have one of them, we're gonna have a freak off with Deandre Jordan." "This is the point guard, Chris Paul."

• 35:09Speaker 02

Uh, yeah, he would, one time, uh, at one of his white parties I had to go to, like right when I got drafted, he would walk me around-

• 35:16Adam Friedland?

  So they let you in?

• 35:16Speaker 02

Yeah, they, oh, sorry, we used to dress white, white clothes, yeah. And he kept saying like, "His mom, no, his mom's white, his mom's white."

• 35:24Adam Friedland?

  His mom's white?

• 35:25Speaker 02

It's fine. And, uh, he would like, he would have people like, he was like, "Feel his, feel his stomach, feel his abs, feel his arms."

• 35:32Adam Friedland?

  That's, that's hard, that's-

• 35:34Speaker 02

I was like nineteen years old-

• 35:35Adam Friedland?

  You were at work?

• 35:36Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 35:36Adam Friedland?

  I mean, that's your boss?

• 35:38Speaker 02

Yeah, that's boss, that's boss man.

• 35:39Adam Friedland?

  That's your boss?

• 35:40Speaker 02

  That's my boss.

• 35:41Adam Friedland?

That's your boss? And your boss was ma- making like a-

• 35:45Speaker 02

  My boss was touching me.

• 35:46Adam Friedland?

Your boss? You got touched by your boss?

• 35:48Speaker 02

  My boss was touching me.

• 35:49Adam Friedland?

  That's not, that's bad behavior.

• 35:51Speaker 02

He was like grabbing my arms-

• 35:52Adam Friedland?

He's like, "If Matt Lauer gets away with it, so can I."

• 35:57Adam Friedland?

...order. And now back to the show. You wanted to do a comedy bit.

• 38:29Adam Friedland?

On the show, yeah. So, I wrote a little script.

• 38:32Speaker 02

  Okay. Cool.

• 38:34Adam Friedland?

  Your role is lawyer.

• 38:38Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 38:38Adam Friedland?

Okay, so we'll do a little table read.

• 38:41Speaker 02

  Okay, great.

• 38:46Speaker 02

  Great, you're playing the defendant?

• 38:48Adam Friedland?

  I'm the defendant.

• 38:49Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 38:50Adam Friedland?

The, I mean, character note, I'm like, really cool, one of the coolest guys.

• 38:54Speaker 02

  Yeah, and super rich.

• 38:55Adam Friedland?

Well, I fool around sometimes, I do. When a girl seduces me and tells me all of these hot stories and dirty things and tells me how she wants to suck on me and takes my shoes off and licks... I forgot!

• 39:12Adam Friedland?

And licks on my feet and touches me when I'm in all, when I'm in a limousine, she takes off all her clothes and the limo driver said, "What is going on?", and she started sucking on me on her way to Mr. Coon's house and I thank her, I thank her for making me feel good.

• 39:29Speaker 02

Sir, the question was, is this your handwriting?

• 39:32Adam Friedland?

Alright, that scene, guys, that scene.

• 39:38Speaker 02

  Thank you.

• 39:38Adam Friedland?

Did you watch the show they made about it?

• 39:40Speaker 02

I tried to, I watched like fifteen minutes.

• 39:43Adam Friedland?

Who'd they get to play you, Channing Tatum would be good.

• 39:45Speaker 02

Yeah, they didn't get Channing Tatum. He was technically unavailable.

• 39:48Adam Friedland?

You are kind of a Channing Tatum type, a little bit.

• 39:50Speaker 02

  Thanks, man.

• 39:51Adam Friedland?

A little bit of 6'9" Channing Tatum style.

• 39:53Speaker 02

  Thanks.

• 39:53Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 39:54Speaker 02

I don't know the guy's name, but he was, it seemed like he did his audition and they were like, "Well, I mean, I guess we could just dye his hair red."

• 40:02Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 40:03Speaker 02

And that was like, that was it for the audition process.

• 40:06Adam Friedland?

If you had to have a guy play you in a movie, have you ever thought about who you'd want?

• 40:11Speaker 02

  Yeah, probably Alec Baldwin.

• 40:12Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 40:14Speaker 02

  Makes sense.

• 40:14Adam Friedland?

  You do have a Baldwin.

• 40:15Speaker 02

I got Baldwin, I have like Baldwin vibes.

• 40:18Adam Friedland?

  Baldwin energy.

• 40:19Speaker 02

  Yeah, energy.

• 40:19Adam Friedland?

  Boom, boom, yeah. No, sorry.

• 40:23Adam Friedland?

  The shooter.

• 40:31Speaker 02

Shane Kade, that'd be awesome, man. Thanks for saying that.

• 40:34Adam Friedland?

You are, you gotta do the, is it, am I wrong? No. I would love to see him step up to the streets, this guy.

• 40:40Speaker 02

  Yeah, step up too.

• 40:42Adam Friedland?

Uh, we got, actually, both camera ops and, and our boy Thomas in there, you're all LA boys? Yeah.

• 40:47Speaker 02

  Nice.

• 40:47Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 40:48Speaker 02

What parts? Can we, should we talk about it? Huh?

• 40:51Adam Friedland?

  Ventura.

• 40:51Speaker 02

  Oh, Ventura. Ventucky.

• 40:53Adam Friedland?

Ventucky, what? Ever heard of Santa Monica? Santa Monica.

• 40:56Speaker 02

  Oh, Santa Monica.

• 40:57Adam Friedland?

  Yeah. Marina Del Rey.

• 41:00Speaker 02

  Nice.

• 41:02Speaker 02

  Cali boys.

• 41:05Adam Friedland?

Lakers fan. Lakers fan. Lakers, yeah. Lakers.

• 41:07Speaker 02

  Everybody's a Lakers fan.

• 41:09Adam Friedland?

You think, would, would, could you, I mean, I think it's been a long time coming, like, would you apologize?

• 41:16Speaker 02

  To?

• 41:16Adam Friedland?

To Pau for like, all those offensive fouls?

• 41:20Speaker 02

That's the whole thing. Who's an offensive foul, everybody? First of all, the tip dunk was not an offensive foul. The other one, yeah.

• 41:27Adam Friedland?

  That was rude.

• 41:28Speaker 02

I got a, I kinda got a forearm to the face.

• 41:30Adam Friedland?

  You, that was rude.

• 41:32Speaker 02

  It wasn't rude, I'm a rude boy.

• 41:33Adam Friedland?

You know, he's a doctor in Spain, you know that?

• 41:36Speaker 02

  Wow, I didn't know that.

• 41:36Adam Friedland?

  I think so.

• 41:37Speaker 02

  Doctor Gasol?

• 41:38Adam Friedland?

I think I made that up.

• 41:39Speaker 02

  Like a podiatrist, or?

• 41:41Adam Friedland?

  Oh, he love feet.

• 41:42Speaker 02

He love feet, that boy love feet.

• 41:44Adam Friedland?

I love Pau. Um, who do you, who was your mentor, like, in the league? Who like, who looked out for you?

• 41:52Speaker 02

  Who looked out for me?

• 41:53Adam Friedland?

Did you, did you talk to Kobe ever?

• 41:55Speaker 02

Oh, yeah. Yeah, Kobe was, Kobe was aw- so my fir- my, my first year, I was hurt my whole first year.

• 42:00Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 42:01Speaker 02

And I was doing rehab, uh, with this PT, this really great PT, and that was like Kobe's lady. Her name was, uh, Judy Sato. And, uh, I would be in there every day. And I remember the first day that I, I really like truly met Kobe and sat and talked to him for a while. I'm in the, I'm in the PT clinic sitting there and I'm, you know, you got a heat and ice on your knee to start and do all this stuff. And I'm sitting there and I kinda like look up and like the place got like eerily quiet.

• 42:27Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 42:27Speaker 02

I was like, what's going on? And I look over and Kobe was like standing at the entrance. I was like, oh. Like he, in LA, or just in the world, but in LA especially, like Kobe was like... Like when you saw him, it was like people like it got quiet.

• 42:40Adam Friedland?

  He's he's our he's our.

• 42:42Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 42:43Adam Friedland?

He's our favorite guy ever. Bob Dylan, Kobe and Woody maybe.

• 42:48Speaker 02

  Harrelson?

• 42:49Adam Friedland?

  Alan.

• 42:50Speaker 02

  Oh, Woody from Toy Story.

• 42:51Adam Friedland?

  Alan.

• 42:52Speaker 02

  Woody Allen, oh Woody Allen.

• 42:53Adam Friedland?

I'm gonna take this seriously, man.

• 42:55Speaker 02

  I am.

• 42:55Adam Friedland?

He meant a lot to us and the whole city and the Filipino community.

• 42:58Speaker 02

  Woody Allen?

• 43:00Adam Friedland?

  Woody Allen.

• 43:02Adam Friedland?

He meant a lot to the in China, they go crazy for him.

• 43:05Speaker 02

  They go crazy.

• 43:06Adam Friedland?

  The Mexicans, they love him.

• 43:08Speaker 02

  Mexicans.

• 43:10Adam Friedland?

  They love Kobe.

• 43:11Speaker 02

  Yeah. Lakers.

• 43:12Adam Friedland?

  Lakers, the Lakers.

• 43:14Speaker 02

The Lakers play the Dodgers later.

• 43:15Adam Friedland?

  They play the Dodgers.

• 43:16Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 43:18Adam Friedland?

  They play Los Dodgers.

• 43:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 43:20Adam Friedland?

The hot the hot dog guys, those guys, they're those are chillers.

• 43:23Speaker 02

  The hot dog guys.

• 43:24Adam Friedland?

The guys that sell the hot the bacon wrapped hot dogs.

• 43:27Speaker 02

Oh, I see. I usually would pull into Staples Center.

• 43:29Adam Friedland?

  Oh, you go first class?

• 43:30Speaker 02

  Type shit, yeah.

• 43:31Adam Friedland?

  Type shit, first class.

• 43:32Speaker 02

You ever you ever been to a game and valeted?

• 43:36Adam Friedland?

Yeah, I did. Yeah, for girls.

• 43:39Speaker 02

  Oh, you did?

• 43:39Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 43:40Speaker 02

Did you valet when you went to the Liberty game?

• 43:42Adam Friedland?

Yeah, they they paid me to go.

• 43:44Speaker 02

Nice. They put you up on the jumbotron?

• 43:47Adam Friedland?

Yeah, they just they all I had to do was, um, I don't know, Brittany Griner put a rag on my face and passed out. All I had to do was just go to Russia and be in jail for a while and.

• 44:00Speaker 02

  And your life turned around.

• 44:01Adam Friedland?

They traded they traded that arms dealer for Brittany.

• 44:04Speaker 02

  The merchant of death.

• 44:05Adam Friedland?

The mer- yeah, the merchant, yeah, the guy from The Lord of War.

• 44:09Speaker 02

  Yeah, The Lord of War.

• 44:10Adam Friedland?

Have you seen that movie, Nick Cage?

• 44:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 44:12Adam Friedland?

You should, you want to transition acting, you should.

• 44:15Speaker 02

Um, maybe a little bit here and there.

• 44:17Adam Friedland?

  Yeah?

• 44:17Speaker 02

  Yeah, I dabble.

• 44:19Adam Friedland?

I can, I can write a movie for you.

• 44:20Speaker 02

  What what's the premise?

• 44:25Adam Friedland?

  You play referee.

• 44:27Speaker 02

  Ooh.

• 44:27Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, that's the twist.

• 44:29Speaker 02

He gets caught up in a.

• 44:29Adam Friedland?

So we have to get guys that are like seven, eight, so you look short, right? Who's your least favorite?

• 44:35Speaker 02

  My least favorite ref?

• 44:36Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, Tony Brothers?

• 44:38Speaker 02

Um, no, Tony, Tony, we have a love hate relationship. Tony's great.

• 44:42Adam Friedland?

Scott hates, uh, uh, Chris, right?

• 44:45Speaker 02

There's, I don't know, there's something going on, I guess, there. Uh, I actually like Scott.

• 44:49Adam Friedland?

  He you like Scott?

• 44:51Speaker 02

Yeah, he's not a bad guy.

• 44:51Adam Friedland?

He gave you a couple tips?

• 44:53Speaker 02

  Yeah, he's like, hey.

• 44:54Adam Friedland?

  Couple picks?

• 44:54Speaker 02

Go and shoot it, I won't call it.

• 44:56Adam Friedland?

What what like? People all speculate about that since Tim Donahue, right? Like, what is like, what was your impression about being on the court? Like, is this like, because sometimes it feels so arbitrary, right? There are make up calls, obviously.

• 45:12Speaker 02

There's make up calls. I will say this, like, reffing an NBA game has to be incredibly difficult. Like, we're moving at a very fast pace and it's like, you're having to decide between, okay, was that contact enough? Which is so like, it's so subjective.

• 45:26Adam Friedland?

They could beat you up, too. They're the jocks, they're the jocks.

• 45:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 45:30Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 45:30Speaker 02

And like, bigger guys don't get as many foul calls as like, the thinner, smaller guys.

• 45:35Adam Friedland?

Were there any refs that like, just wanted, like, you had to be like, yeah, we'll chill later?

• 45:41Speaker 02

  Like the Nick Kralski?

• 45:42Adam Friedland?

Yeah, like, you can come to fucking One Oak with me.

• 45:45Speaker 02

Yeah, come on, I got table service, dog.

• 45:47Adam Friedland?

  What are we doing tonight?

• 45:48Speaker 02

Uh, I don't know, probably hanging with Bezos or something.

• 45:51Adam Friedland?

Can we do like a, I really wanted to just, my favorite picture of any ever taken ever is just Ja in that, in that VIP where he's just like, he's like this, by himself, there's bands everywhere.

• 46:05Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 46:05Adam Friedland?

And he's getting a solitary lap dance.

• 46:07Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 46:08Adam Friedland?

I like to imagine there was no music playing.

• 46:12Adam Friedland?

I like to imagine it was silent.

• 46:15Speaker 02

So, so what are your goals? What are your dreams, what are your aspirations?

• 46:18Adam Friedland?

Yeah, have you ever met Drake before? I was like, I went to Magic City, I was at a wedding in Atlanta, I went to Magic City and I was like, I was wasted. I was being so obnoxious, I was like, have you met Future? They're like, yeah, he's really nice. I was like, that's awesome.

• 46:31Speaker 02

Yeah, all those guys. The, I've actually never been to Magic City.

• 46:35Adam Friedland?

It was a dream. I kept talking, I kept saying to my friend Jason, I was like, this is everything we've ever dreamed.

• 46:42Speaker 02

  It surpassed your expectations.

• 46:43Adam Friedland?

And the first six songs had the words Magic City in them.

• 46:46Speaker 02

Yeah, it's a tiny place, right?

• 46:47Adam Friedland?

It's tiny, yeah, yeah. I went to, I got the, I got the Lou Will wings.

• 46:51Speaker 02

Yeah, the Lou Will, Lemon Pepper Lou's.

• 46:53Adam Friedland?

  The Lemon Pepper Lou's?

• 46:54Speaker 02

Uh, I, I heard for a while like that, like, Magic City, like, if rapper, local rappers got their song played at Magic City, like, that's how they took off. It was like, so much more than just a strip club.

• 47:03Adam Friedland?

They would go from the studio to Magic and see if the girls danced.

• 47:06Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 47:06Adam Friedland?

Yeah. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool.

• 47:09Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 47:09Adam Friedland?

  That is pretty cool.

• 47:10Speaker 02

  It's a culture shifter.

• 47:11Adam Friedland?

Should we just skip Amazon up front and just?

• 47:14Speaker 02

  Fly to Atlanta?

• 47:15Adam Friedland?

Just bang Lou's line, ask him where he is? I, I, uh, what is, what is having 261 million dollars in, like, what is that? It's so much more, you have so.

• 47:32Speaker 02

Thanks, man. I didn't know we were gonna talk about this.

• 47:34Adam Friedland?

Do you think about it? Like, it's so much more.

• 47:37Speaker 02

  From time to time, yeah.

• 47:38Adam Friedland?

What it, what is it, what do you do even with it?

• 47:41Speaker 02

Uh, well, first of all, 10% goes to the Lord. That's tithing.

• 47:45Adam Friedland?

  Tithing, yeah, yeah. 10% Israel?

• 47:48Speaker 02

  You invest in the community.

• 47:50Adam Friedland?

  Community?

• 47:51Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 47:51Adam Friedland?

What'd you buy? Boys and girls?

• 47:53Speaker 02

  Club, yeah.

• 47:54Adam Friedland?

  Club?

• 47:55Speaker 02

You can't, you can't say that and not put the club part.

• 47:59Adam Friedland?

  I like to pause.

• 48:00Speaker 02

  Yeah, boys and girls.

• 48:01Adam Friedland?

  Pause, club.

• 48:03Speaker 02

Um, yeah, you know, you, you, you know, you try to be a good steward of money.

• 48:09Adam Friedland?

You have a, you have an organization for the kids?

• 48:11Speaker 02

I do have one for the kids.

• 48:13Adam Friedland?

  What's it called?

• 48:13Speaker 02

  It's called, uh, Team Griffin.

• 48:15Adam Friedland?

  Team Griffin?

• 48:16Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 48:16Adam Friedland?

What do you do with it?

• 48:17Speaker 02

Team Griffin Foundation, uh, goes to support at-risk youth.

• 48:21Adam Friedland?

  In Oklahoma?

• 48:21Speaker 02

Oklahoma, I did in LA, I did in Detroit, uh, I kinda, wherever I played, I tried to invest in the community.

• 48:27Adam Friedland?

But you use it as a scouting kinda thing?

• 48:29Speaker 02

Yeah, it's all just like scouting to see who's, you know, who's got that next, like, league him type stuff.

• 48:35Adam Friedland?

I was talking to my agent, he said that the sports department has been thrown into chaos with this NIL thing.

• 48:41Speaker 02

  Yeah, NIL is crazy.

• 48:42Adam Friedland?

Because like, he said that being a sports agent used to be this glamorous position, like, you'd go down to Bama, you'd be like, you know, you'd be hooking up with sorority girls, you'd be like chilling with like the number one running back in the draft.

• 48:56Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 48:56Adam Friedland?

And he said now that they're like in like Iowa paying off like a corrupt uncle, like of an 11-year-old.

• 49:02Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 49:02Adam Friedland?

He said it's, they're like professional pedophiles now. They're boy hunters now.

• 49:07Speaker 02

I had this thought that like, that scouts are like the only, it's the only profession that you can go watch, uh, children exercise and it's completely okay.

• 49:18Adam Friedland?

I have all these tapes of boys.

• 49:20Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 49:20Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 49:21Speaker 02

I have a, I have a whole, I have a whole document and I just describe the boys and how they move and how they play.

• 49:27Adam Friedland?

  Did your mom know Skip?

• 49:29Speaker 02

Skip? Uh, she didn't know him.

• 49:31Adam Friedland?

  In college?

• 49:32Speaker 02

No, high school. They went to the same high school, but she didn't really know him.

• 49:34Adam Friedland?

  Was he a dickhead too?

• 49:36Speaker 02

I don't know. I mean, she didn't really go to the JV basketball games.

• 49:43Adam Friedland?

Come on now, come on now. Skip.

• 49:46Speaker 02

You know what I'm saying, Skip? One of my favorite things ever, Shannon Sharpe going from having Skip Bayless as a co-host to Stephen A. Smith and he can't say either of their names correctly. Like, come on, Skip.

• 49:56Adam Friedland?

  Come on, Skip.

• 49:57Speaker 02

But this has been my time on this show and now I'm going to be with Stephen A. Smith.

• 50:01Adam Friedland?

  Suckerin', sucker-tash.

• 50:03Speaker 02

With Skip, I say this, Skip.

• 50:06Adam Friedland?

Unc is, have you reached out to Unc? I think he's having a rough time right now.

• 50:10Speaker 02

I have heard that, but I haven't, I haven't talked to him, you know? I don't think I've ever even met him.

• 50:14Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 50:14Speaker 02

  Never met him.

• 50:15Adam Friedland?

We have to chill with Unc.

• 50:16Speaker 02

  I mean, Shannon Sharpe is...

• 50:17Adam Friedland?

We have to chill with Thorp.

• 50:20Speaker 02

  Come on, Skip.

• 50:21Adam Friedland?

Come on, Skip. His name is also Shannon Thorp.

• 50:23Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 50:23Adam Friedland?

He can't even say his own damn name. Hell of a sign-in.

• 50:27Speaker 02

I switched over from Fox Sports to ESPN, so I went from Skip to Scanning.

• 50:31Adam Friedland?

The weirdest part of that, like when he leaked, the first scandal was when he leaked on live, the noises of his sex.

• 50:38Speaker 02

  Yeah, that was crazy.

• 50:39Adam Friedland?

But the under-reported part was at the beginning, you hear him whisper in the girl's ear.

• 50:44Speaker 02

  What was her name?

• 50:45Adam Friedland?

Uh, Jessica, was it? My Jessica?

• 50:49Speaker 02

  My something, yeah.

• 50:50Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah, but he goes, he goes, "You think this is a game?"

• 50:57Adam Friedland?

  And I...

• 50:58Speaker 02

He's Unc, I mean, he's Unc. Club Shay Shay? Club Shay Shay?

• 51:02Adam Friedland?

I have to go on Club Shay Shay one day.

• 51:04Speaker 02

  You will.

• 51:04Adam Friedland?

I have to go on Club Shay Shay and tell them about all the freak-offs at Sterling's. My friend said, they said he picked Murray for him in the locker room. This is my best friend.

• 51:17Speaker 02

  From the horse's mouth.

• 51:18Adam Friedland?

He was in a towel. And Deborah Jewish was looking at his ass.

• 51:23Speaker 02

  Mordecai.

• 51:24Adam Friedland?

Deborah, Mordecai, yeah, Hesha Teshowitz. I'm Hesha Teshowitz, I'm friends with Donald. I think you had a great game, hip hip hooray.

• 51:32Speaker 02

No, I'm allowed to be in here.

• 51:35Adam Friedland?

What was like, those Clippers teams, like, you guys had, like, what was your roughest L?

• 51:42Speaker 02

Probably when we were up by 20 on Houston, we were also up 3-2 in the series.

• 51:49Adam Friedland?

And that was without Harden, right? Harden was out?

• 51:51Speaker 02

Well, no, he played that game and then he checked out with like two minutes, I think, in the third quarter and Josh Smith and Corey Brewer went ballistic.

• 51:59Adam Friedland?

  And he went to Magic?

• 52:00Speaker 02

  Yeah, I think he stayed.

• 52:02Adam Friedland?

He went straight to Magic, yeah.

• 52:04Speaker 02

  Yeah, that was tough.

• 52:06Adam Friedland?

You hit that crazy shot in that one, too.

• 52:07Speaker 02

  A little spinny.

• 52:09Adam Friedland?

Yeah, yeah. That's kind of what it turned. You kind of anger at God a little bit, no?

• 52:14Speaker 02

  Yeah, the basketball guy.

• 52:15Adam Friedland?

I think that was like end of the third quarter, you like you did that that insane circus shot.

• 52:20Speaker 02

So you're you're trying to put all of the blame on me? I just I was just talking about the biggest L, the worst L of my life, and you just you basically just.

• 52:28Adam Friedland?

I'm talking about God, the basketball God, who's in my who's, you know, oh, we're talking about, I thought you were talking, we're talking about the basketball.

• 52:35Speaker 02

Yeah, we're talking about the basketball God, not.

• 52:37Adam Friedland?

  That was game six, right?

• 52:38Speaker 02

That was game six at home, yeah. And then we lost that game and then we went to Houston and lost game seven.

• 52:43Adam Friedland?

What do you feel like after it like?

• 52:45Speaker 02

  Awful.

• 52:45Adam Friedland?

  It feels terrible.

• 52:46Speaker 02

  Yeah, terrible.

• 52:47Adam Friedland?

  Really?

• 52:48Speaker 02

But then you still have one game, you're like, all right, we go win it on the road. Didn't win it on the road.

• 52:52Adam Friedland?

How do you like you have to just, well, I guess you had another game that you had to get ready for.

• 52:56Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 52:56Adam Friedland?

What's like, what's like, like a playoff exit, though, like, does that linger?

• 53:02Speaker 02

Yeah, it's it's also crazy because like you you the whole season, right? And then the playoffs, so you're used to like every single day you have practice, you have games, you have this, this, this. You're losing the playoffs and it's just like, well, you're just done. No, no more practice, nothing. You go in for exit interviews the next day. And then you just go home and you're like.

• 53:22Adam Friedland?

And they're like, okay, stand up.

• 53:25Speaker 02

  What did we learn?

• 53:26Adam Friedland?

What did we learn this year?

• 53:29Speaker 02

It's tough. It's tough. Not fun.

• 53:31Adam Friedland?

Yeah. What team do you think was the best team you were you you ever played played on?

• 53:37Speaker 02

Probably that team or Brooklyn my first year, KD, Kyrie, James.

• 53:43Adam Friedland?

Yeah, to me that was like, I really wanted, because I think I read somewhere that like, Kyrie is the best at making it like, things looking incredibly hard and like, like doing things that look incredibly hard and KD is the best at making things that, making everything look incredibly easy, right? They're like the two sides of like basketball genius.

• 54:08Speaker 02

I would say that Kyrie makes it, makes really hard things look.

• 54:12Adam Friedland?

  Like impossible things possible, right?

• 54:14Speaker 02

Yeah, I wouldn't say he makes it look hard. KD makes the, it's so, I mean, he's just so unaffected by defense.

• 54:20Adam Friedland?

Was that the toe? That was the Brooklyn, that was the, I was at the blowout at, I was at the blowout.

• 54:28Speaker 02

  Game one?

• 54:29Adam Friedland?

  Was that game one, yeah.

• 54:30Speaker 02

  Game one.

• 54:30Adam Friedland?

I was there, yeah, yeah. I had a, I had a, I was like, you look great.

• 54:35Speaker 02

  Go.

• 54:36Adam Friedland?

You look great. You're wearing Yabaskiyat, Yabaskiyat jerseys.

• 54:42Speaker 02

That was, um, that playoffs was like the first time fans came back in the arena.

• 54:47Adam Friedland?

They were doing the countdown on, on Yanni too.

• 54:49Speaker 02

Yeah, it was in the NBA came out and said the arenas aren't allowed to do that.

• 54:54Adam Friedland?

Bullshit. We're not allowed to count? My favorite thing in the world is to count.

• 54:58Speaker 02

  Yeah, counting.

• 55:00Adam Friedland?

I love to count. Do you think the count from Sesame Street was Jewish coded?

• 55:05Speaker 02

  Yeah, probably, yeah.

• 55:08Adam Friedland?

Thank you. I mean, in like evaluating what you do with the rest of your life, like, you know, you were a competitor at the highest level, right? So the element of competition being present in your life, does that feel like something, like, feel like something that you like miss? Like, do guys gamble a lot after the league or like, do, like, how do guys like replace that in their lives?

• 55:34Speaker 02

Uh, I started playing golf. That helps, kind of get that, like.

• 55:38Adam Friedland?

It's very frustrating. Yeah, it's frustrating too.

• 55:41Speaker 02

  Yeah, it's frustrating, but it's, it's fun, it's a lot of fun.

• 55:43Adam Friedland?

  Are you nice?

• 55:44Speaker 02

I'm not nice, but I'm like, okay.

• 55:46Adam Friedland?

You probably, you probably, you're John Daly. You probably grip it and rip it.

• 55:51Speaker 02

Yeah, I grip and rip. That's what they call me.

• 55:53Adam Friedland?

  Really, grip and rip?

• 55:54Speaker 02

  Yeah, grip and rip griff.

• 55:55Adam Friedland?

  You're banging Diet Cokes?

• 55:57Speaker 02

  Smoking cigs.

• 55:58Adam Friedland?

  Marlboro Lights?

• 55:59Speaker 02

Going to Hooters before and after. Hooters?

• 56:01Adam Friedland?

That guy's a, we gotta get on a banana boat with him.

• 56:06Adam Friedland?

  We got a banana.

• 56:07Speaker 02

Just seeing his like, long, flowy hair, the beard.

• 56:11Adam Friedland?

I, I put a team together, okay? At their prime, every single one of these players. Like Blake Griffin, Bill Walton.

• 56:22Adam Friedland?

  Delonte West.

• 56:25Adam Friedland?

  You have, um, Dante DiVincenzo.

• 56:27Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 56:28Adam Friedland?

  Matt Bonner.

• 56:29Speaker 02

  Show all redheads.

• 56:32Adam Friedland?

But like at their prime, how, how could the, the carpets and the drapes still?

• 56:38Adam Friedland?

  How would they do?

• 56:39Speaker 02

Uh, we could win some games.

• 56:42Adam Friedland?

  Second round exit, I'm thinking?

• 56:43Speaker 02

Oh, man. I mean, we have to make the, we were assuming we just made the playoffs.

• 56:47Adam Friedland?

Is the GOAT red debate? It's you and Bill probably.

• 56:50Speaker 02

Yeah. I don't know, Bill's like, uh, Bill.

• 56:56Speaker 02

I mean, a great player. What's his like resume? How many NBA?

• 56:59Adam Friedland?

He was on that John Wooden UCLA.

• 57:01Speaker 02

  Right, right, right.

• 57:02Adam Friedland?

I mean, he was playing against fucking Plumbers.

• 57:05Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, see this thing, that thing also, but there's a thing called evolution. I, like, the players back then were still really good because that was like, that was the, the peak of basketball still. And the game keeps moving forward. Yeah, they'd been in for a little bit.

• 57:20Adam Friedland?

The peak of basketball, like, come on.

• 57:22Speaker 02

Bob Cousy was dribbling like this.

• 57:23Adam Friedland?

I, I don't want to talk shit and you can't do this because now you're part of the lame stream media. You're type shit of the lame stream, you're type shit of the lame stream media now.

• 57:31Speaker 02

  Lame stream.

• 57:32Adam Friedland?

But like, I like, I like watched the 1980 game six finals.

• 57:37Speaker 02

  1980?

• 57:38Adam Friedland?

Eighty, yeah. And that's like the best story ever, right? Because it's like Kareem's hurt.

• 57:43Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 57:43Adam Friedland?

They're on the road, he's in LA trying to get healthy. Then there's a rookie, Magic, he plays all five positions. They beat Dr. J, they beat like the, like, pretty juggernaut Sixers team. And.

• 57:59Speaker 02

  That's your, that's

• 58:00Adam Friedland?

  Come on.

• 58:01Speaker 02

Yeah. So, wait, so now, now we're back being like the old school era is great?

• 58:06Adam Friedland?

They were not, it didn't look as dope as like just that elevator pitch to me.

• 58:12Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 58:13Adam Friedland?

I think two guys on that court could, could have probably leaked. I think probably Michael Cooper could have been a three and D and Magic was like a six, eight guard.

• 58:24Speaker 02

Worthy, Worthy was on that team?

• 58:25Adam Friedland?

No, Worthy was a Yeah, yeah. I mean, it was just like, yeah, Dr. J was nifty finish.

• 58:33Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 58:34Adam Friedland?

He was Mr. He, that was like his game.

• 58:36Speaker 02

  He was pretty good.

• 58:37Adam Friedland?

You could have lobbed City all over the place.

• 58:40Speaker 02

I could have maybe dunked on

• 58:41Adam Friedland?

You could have lobbed, you could have lobbed.

• 58:43Speaker 02

I could have maybe dunked on Dr. J. It's fun to think about.

• 58:45Adam Friedland?

Do you ever feel bad after, after a poster?

• 58:47Speaker 02

  No.

• 58:48Adam Friedland?

You never felt bad one time?

• 58:49Speaker 02

  Never.

• 58:50Adam Friedland?

What if a guy's like wife was there?

• 58:52Speaker 02

  So? Shouldn't have been there.

• 58:53Adam Friedland?

What if his mom just died or something?

• 58:55Speaker 02

  Well, that's sad.

• 58:56Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 58:57Speaker 02

But I don't feel bad for the dunk. I feel bad that he just lost the matriarch of his family.

• 59:01Adam Friedland?

  Yeah. What if he cried?

• 59:04Speaker 02

  Hypothetically.

• 59:04Adam Friedland?

  Has someone ever cried?

• 59:06Speaker 02

I don't know, but Kendrick Perkins deleted his Twitter after I dunked on him. That's like, I think that should be on my resume.

• 59:13Adam Friedland?

  Yeah, somehow he's still

• 59:15Speaker 02

  I know.

• 59:15Adam Friedland?

  He's still annoying.

• 59:17Speaker 02

He's back, he's back. Carry on, carry the hell on.

• 59:20Adam Friedland?

  Carry the hell on.

• 59:21Speaker 02

Well, look, in the NBA playoffs.

• 59:25Adam Friedland?

There's that clip of, of JJ. Have you seen that clip?

• 59:29Speaker 02

  I think

• 59:29Adam Friedland?

Where he's like, in his ear, he's like, what the hell is that in my ear? He's like, Perk, why are you breathing? He's like, he's like, I am the hell breathing.

• 59:37Speaker 02

Stephen A. Smith is like, you sound like you got sleep apnea.

• 59:40Adam Friedland?

Yeah, do you have sleep apnea? I will say this. If you put hands on me, I will have no choice but to swing, you know?

• 59:50Speaker 02

  Me and you?

• 59:51Adam Friedland?

Stephen A., as journalists, I mean, like

• 59:54Speaker 02

LeBron didn't put hands on him though. He just checked him.

• 59:56Adam Friedland?

It's, that thing was a little bit insane because your, your mom's ex, Skip, during that, during that entire beef earlier this year.

• 1:00:08Adam Friedland?

It got, it kept stepping up one, like, another level. So first LeBron is like, saying, "I'm not best friends with Brian Windhorst," which is like-

• 1:00:16Speaker 02

  That was sad.

• 1:00:16Adam Friedland?

Peculiar. This is like some, some guy that, I guess he's like, they went to the same high school at a different time, but like, Wendy was like his guy for like 20 years.

• 1:00:25Speaker 02

I know, he's also been so positive about LeBron.

• 1:00:27Adam Friedland?

He's been like- Right, and then LeBron's like, yeah, like, he's like going like, he's going like, he's like, "Don't tell, don't tell me what to say, I'mma, I'mma spill all the tea in it, I'm not best friends with Brian Windhorst."

• 1:00:38Speaker 02

He's, he called him a weird little man that follows him around.

• 1:00:41Adam Friedland?

  That is so mean, right?

• 1:00:43Speaker 02

  That's so tough.

• 1:00:43Adam Friedland?

And then Stephen A. comes in and escalates and says, "I will fight." And it's LeBron James. But, but then, the best detail was that Skip, for three days, was tweeting out into a void, where he was like, "Another pathetic buzzer beater from LeBron," I wouldn't even call it a layup, more of just a tip. And no one was engaging with him.

• 1:01:08Speaker 02

I know, it's, like, Skip's been hating on LeBron so hard for so long, and he did, he's not even, he doesn't even get like the recognition that he hates on him, from LeBron.

• 1:01:17Adam Friedland?

He's literally, just has a boombox outside his window, like, "You suck, you suck." I guess, um, I guess I'd close by like, just say like, you know, this is an open forum, just like,

• 1:01:34Adam Friedland?

if Chris Paul, Chris Paul's watching-

• 1:01:36Speaker 02

Mm-hmm, probably, yeah, he's probably watching.

• 1:01:38Adam Friedland?

Like, um, you just share like, what's in your heart.

• 1:01:42Speaker 02

Um, you know, I was talking with, with JJ Reddick actually about this the other day, it's, um, yeah, oh, you, you know him?

• 1:01:49Adam Friedland?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:50Speaker 02

I, I look back on those, those games, like, I see like film, I see like clips and stuff, and I'm like, "Man, I wish I had just been a little bit better," you know?

• 1:01:59Adam Friedland?

  For him?

• 1:01:59Speaker 02

  Yeah, for everybody.

• 1:02:00Adam Friedland?

  For everybody.

• 1:02:01Speaker 02

  Fans, for God.

• 1:02:03Adam Friedland?

You had Billy Crystal at that game.

• 1:02:06Speaker 02

  I know.

• 1:02:06Adam Friedland?

  You had Frankie Muniz there.

• 1:02:08Speaker 02

Frankie, Frankie had moved to Phoenix, so he wasn't in attendance for a lot of home games, but when we played in Phoenix, he would come to the games.

• 1:02:14Adam Friedland?

You had, Vince Staples was there?

• 1:02:16Speaker 02

Vince, yeah, Vince was probably there.

• 1:02:18Adam Friedland?

Who were the Clip, the Clippers guys? Who's the Clippers' Jack?

• 1:02:22Speaker 02

Billy Crystal, I think, is the Clippers' Jack.

• 1:02:25Adam Friedland?

  Clipper Daryl.

• 1:02:26Speaker 02

Clipper Daryl is... Is he? I don't think he's still around.

• 1:02:30Adam Friedland?

  He's dead?

• 1:02:31Speaker 02

Hmm. I don't know about that.

• 1:02:33Adam Friedland?

  Snirling body count 666, Illuminati?

• 1:02:36Speaker 02

I just don't know if he goes to games now, at the new arena.

• 1:02:39Adam Friedland?

  Didn't they kick him out?

• 1:02:40Speaker 02

They did kick him out one time.

• 1:02:41Adam Friedland?

Did you lobby to get Clipper Daryl?

• 1:02:43Speaker 02

I wasn't a part of that. Daryl, you know I love you, dog.

• 1:02:47Adam Friedland?

  Shout out to Daryl.

• 1:02:48Speaker 02

  Superfan-type shit.

• 1:02:49Adam Friedland?

Blake, I just want to thank you for coming on the show and...

• 1:02:53Speaker 02

Thanks for having me. Anything else on the cards as you scroll through?

• 1:02:57Adam Friedland?

I guess like, has there ever been like what a guy... Has a guy ever just had too big of a dick?

• 1:03:06Speaker 02

Thanks so much, guys. Appreciate it.
