• 2:07Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's super nice.

• 2:08Speaker 02

  It's really spacious. Let's go!

• 2:10Speaker 01

So, Radhi, what's the challenge today?

• 2:12Speaker 02

Okay, so remember. Couple of years ago, we did this YouTube video where you made something.

• 2:18Jay Shetty?

Yeah, I've been trying to block it out ever since.

• 2:20Speaker 02

So you at that time made me, what did you make me?

• 2:22Jay Shetty?

I made you, so this is the one and only time in our entire life that I think I cooked for you.

• 2:26Speaker 02

  One time, one time only.

• 2:27Jay Shetty?

And I promised it would be one time only, I cooked you a stuffed pepper. And it was the best rice stuffed pepper you'd ever had in your entire life.

• 2:33Speaker 02

It was, it actually made it into my cookbook. I don't know whether I've ever even told you this, but there is a recipe. Imagine you, out of all people, have a recipe in my cookbook.

• 2:43Jay Shetty?

That's amazing. I told you, if I wanted to be a chef, I'd, I'd be, you know.

• 2:48Speaker 02

I was asked if you've ever cooked for me, if there's any recipes that remind me of you. And there was one, it was either that or beans on toast. They said I couldn't put beans on toast in there.

• 2:56Jay Shetty?

That would have been the best with cheese sprinkled and tart.

• 2:59Speaker 02

That's not in my cookbook. What made it into my book, just because stuffed pepper didn't feel fun enough.

• 3:04Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 3:04Speaker 02

It's a one part Mexican rice.

• 3:06Jay Shetty?

Wait, why did the stuffed pepper not feel good enough?

• 3:09Speaker 02

It just was like a bit basic, honestly. The actual Mexican rice has made it. It's like a one part Mexican rice dish. So you already kind of know how to do this.

• 3:19Jay Shetty?

  I don't, I'd have no idea.

• 3:20Speaker 02

You're like cheating a little bit.

• 3:21Jay Shetty?

  I literally have no idea.

• 3:22Speaker 02

What we're gonna do is you're gonna, we're going to the grocery store or the supermarket, as we like to call it. And we are, you're gonna, you're gonna buy all the ingredients.

• 3:30Jay Shetty?

  This is my worst nightmare.

• 3:31Speaker 02

But on top of that, just to make it a little bit spicy, we are going to get you making some guacamole and some healthy sour cream to be able to dollop on top. And then I will joyfully eat it for lunch.

• 3:45Jay Shetty?

While we're on the way to the grocery store, let's answer some questions.

• 3:47Speaker 02

  Alright, let's do it.

• 3:48Jay Shetty?

So you've got them next to you, because I can't, I can't read questions and drive at the same time. I don't think that would be very safe. If we were doing carpool karaoke right now, what would, what would it be?

• 3:57Speaker 02

Mine would be, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Or it would be, baby, calm down, calm down.

• 4:06Jay Shetty?

  Okay.

• 4:06Speaker 02

You know that, don't tell me, no, no, no.

• 4:08Jay Shetty?

Well, you have to know the words.

• 4:09Speaker 02

Whoa, whoa, whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh.

• 4:11Jay Shetty?

  Cut it, go.

• 4:12Speaker 02

You always make fun of me because he makes fun of me and my music choice because he says a lot of it, there isn't actual words. It's either mumble or it's.

• 4:20Jay Shetty?

  Sounds.

• 4:20Speaker 02

Sounds. So that would be mine. And if it was Jay, it would be, don't never stop.

• 4:28Speaker 02

  What was it?

• 4:28Jay Shetty?

  It'd be a Drake song.

• 4:29Speaker 02

Yeah, Drake song. Everybody obviously got that I was doing.

• 4:32Jay Shetty?

Right, that's exactly where they go. Alright, so other questions?

• 4:35Speaker 02

What's the biggest difference between drivers in LA and drivers in London?

• 4:38Jay Shetty?

  Oh, I don't know.

• 4:40Speaker 02

I do find LA drivers a little bit more impatient, just to put it out there.

• 4:43Jay Shetty?

  Really?

• 4:44Speaker 02

Yeah. I do find there's a lot more beeping, no one wants to give you way, whereas, you know what? In London, I'd say people do let you into things.

• 4:52Jay Shetty?

  Really?

• 4:52Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 4:53Jay Shetty?

  Oh, interesting.

• 4:54Speaker 02

  A bit more rage here.

• 4:55Jay Shetty?

One thing I really love about driving in LA as a driver myself is I love the palm trees. I like, I feel like, look at this. I feel like I'm on a constant vacation.

• 5:02Speaker 02

  This isn't about drivers, though.

• 5:04Jay Shetty?

  Right, right, right.

• 5:05Speaker 02

  Like, but I agree.

• 5:05Jay Shetty?

I do find the highways scary in LA.

• 5:09Speaker 02

Me too, because you have that thing of going off.

• 5:11Jay Shetty?

Yeah, when people are switching lanes and obviously everything's the other way around for us. So you're driving on a different side of the road and the steering wheel's on a different side of the car.

• 5:18Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 5:19Jay Shetty?

So especially I find, when I come back from London, I find it even scarier.

• 5:23Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 5:24Jay Shetty?

And I find myself too much on one side or the other.

• 5:26Speaker 02

Oh, I do that all the time.

• 5:27Jay Shetty?

But yeah, and I think, I mean, I think drivers, pretty much everywhere in the world are pretty impatient, aren't they?

• 5:31Speaker 02

Yeah, I am too, to be fair. Um, do you believe you are? Do you believe you're a backseat driver? Okay, I'm a proud backseat driver. You know why? Because my line every time I do a backseat driver thing, like, watch out, or don't go that close, is, imagine I didn't say that, I could have just saved your life and somebody else's.

• 5:51Jay Shetty?

The difference is every time you say it, I'm like, the way you say it is more likely to cause an accident.

• 5:55Speaker 02

  Ah!

• 5:56Jay Shetty?

  Yeah, exactly, yes.

• 5:57Speaker 02

  Do, do, do!

• 5:58Jay Shetty?

Yeah, exactly, than save me. Like, I'm like, literally, I have a shock. Like, I literally have a shock every time you say it, and I'm like, what happened? Like, what happened? Did something happen? And you're like, no, just.

• 6:07Speaker 02

What's my usual, oh my gosh, it's Mummy!

• 6:10Jay Shetty?

Yeah, Mummy. It's like, what's Mummy gonna do?

• 6:12Speaker 02

I would say I am more of a backseat driver than Jay is, yes.

• 6:15Jay Shetty?

I'm not a backseat driver at all.

• 6:17Speaker 02

Maybe that just shows I can.

• 6:18Jay Shetty?

More so not a backseat driver in life.

• 6:19Speaker 02

  Oh, line drop.

• 6:22Jay Shetty?

No, no, but it's important, it's an interesting question, right?

• 6:25Speaker 02

This is like, you know what, Jay Shetty getting Jay Shetty on me. So actually, you know what, let's go deeper into that. What does it mean to be a backseat driver in your life?

• 6:33Jay Shetty?

  It's a good question, then.

• 6:34Speaker 02

What does it mean, Jay, to be a backseat driver? Please do tell us.

• 6:37Jay Shetty?

No, I just, I just think that some of us, you know. Grab life by the steering wheel. And navigate and take the journey ourselves. And some of us sit in the backseat and criticize and judge and complain about whatever else is doing.

• 6:52Speaker 02

Think that in life, we need both backseat drivers and people who want to take the steering wheel. And too many steering wheel people would actually be not impact, not good.

• 7:05Jay Shetty?

That was, that was an amazing question. That was an amazing question. Uh, no, I, I believe that when you're driving, you should drive safely and securely and responsibly. And when you're in the backseat, you should be obedient.

• 7:18Speaker 02

I'm talking about that, that, what?

• 7:20Jay Shetty?

  In life, in life.

• 7:21Speaker 02

  Oh, in life.

• 7:22Jay Shetty?

  Yeah, in life.

• 7:23Speaker 02

Okay, next question, people, next question. If you could pick three people to fill your car with.

• 7:30Jay Shetty?

Oh, good question. Oh, just to remind everyone, these were questions that my team came up with, so we had no idea what we were gonna be.

• 7:37Speaker 02

If you could pick three people to fill your car with on a road trip, who would they be?

• 7:41Jay Shetty?

Go on, let's try one each.

• 7:42Speaker 02

What, three people in the whole entire world?

• 7:44Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 7:45Speaker 02

Okay, I, I know who it would be.

• 7:46Jay Shetty?

  It was easy, go on.

• 7:48Speaker 02

  Yeah, mine are quite easy.

• 7:49Jay Shetty?

  Go on.

• 7:49Speaker 02

Mine would be, okay, people alive would be my grandma, my niece and my nephew.

• 7:56Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 7:57Speaker 02

  Banter.

• 7:58Jay Shetty?

  Yeah, didn't, didn't make it.

• 7:59Speaker 02

So much fun. No, but that would be like, it would be so funny because.

• 8:03Jay Shetty?

Three in the back, three in the back, we'll put three in the back.

• 8:05Speaker 02

Three in the back, you can be in the car too. But not alive, I would love to have a car full of like my grandma and then her grandma and like my ancestors. One, I love driving around old people. I do it for my grandma and her friends all the time and it is so much fun because they're hilarious. You know, one thing I found, my dad opens up on road trips. Like if it's just me and him, he's driving me to the airport or he's, my sister told me yesterday that he was driving her to the airport. And he starts telling stories about himself, like it creates this time and space where people can open up a little bit. And so with that in mind, I think I would want that with people that I really wish I had got to know, but didn't have the chance to.

• 8:45Jay Shetty?

What questions would you ask or what game would you play with these people in the car on a long journey?

• 8:50Speaker 02

For fun, I would definitely play, well, our version, Indian version of Carpool Karaoke on Takshri. Where you all just sing like old Indian songs, but I imagine my grandma and her ancestors would probably sing like. Devotional songs uh or God songs, which is amazing. But then to actually ask them questions, oh, I love word association. I think it tells a lot about people.

• 9:11Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 9:11Speaker 02

To like to like understand when they hear something, what they relate it to.

• 9:15Jay Shetty?

  Right, right, right.

• 9:15Speaker 02

So, yeah, that's what I'll put. What about you? Who would your three people be?

• 9:18Jay Shetty?

Oh, gosh, all right. So if it was living, it would be you, my sister and my mum.

• 9:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 9:30Jay Shetty?

And that would be like my family trip.

• 9:33Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 9:33Jay Shetty?

If it was people who weren't alive or like people I don't know, I'd want it to be Steve Jobs,

• 9:41Jay Shetty?

  Martin Luther King and Einstein.

• 9:46Speaker 02

  Oh, wow.

• 9:47Jay Shetty?

And I wouldn't say anything. I would just listen.

• 9:49Speaker 02

But we all of them in one car?

• 9:51Jay Shetty?

Yeah, because I would have no, I would just listen. I would have nothing to say.

• 9:53Speaker 02

  Yeah, just observe.

• 9:55Jay Shetty?

And think about what they would say.

• 9:57Speaker 02

You know who else is so fun in the car though? We've done a few, a few random car trips with him together is Rabinah Swami, because I feel like he really brings up such good conversation and also does the same thing my dad does where there's so many stories that come out during those trips.

• 10:12Jay Shetty?

  Totally.

• 10:12Speaker 02

I love those trips. Actually, I I take you out and put him into mine, sorry.

• 10:16Jay Shetty?

Got it, got it. With your bar and your niece and nephew.

• 10:18Speaker 02

My grandma, my niece, my nephew.

• 10:19Jay Shetty?

Yeah, I'm not sure of that.

• 10:20Speaker 02

I'm not sure he'd enjoy that.

• 10:21Jay Shetty?

I was gonna say the other person you love having in the car is Ardil.

• 10:24Speaker 02

Oh, yeah, that's a good carpool karaoke friend.

• 10:27Jay Shetty?

You and Ardil are always singing in car.

• 10:29Speaker 02

That's true. That's a good, good answer. That would be a really interesting conversation to have.

• 10:33Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 10:33Speaker 02

If it was possible. Who is more likely to leave the car lights on overnight? I literally did that yesterday. Not overnight. Not overnight, no.

• 10:40Jay Shetty?

You leave the car lights on, you leave the car unlocked, you forget to charge the car.

• 10:45Speaker 02

  I leave my like little.

• 10:46Jay Shetty?

Like, we're so lucky that we have electric cars right now, this electric car.

• 10:50Speaker 02

I've always got a spare hairband, a spare drink, a spare um some pair of sunglasses, some snacks. There's always something here lingering.

• 10:58Jay Shetty?

  Right, right.

• 10:59Speaker 02

  Really a blessing. Um.

• 11:02Jay Shetty?

So then, yeah, it would be me.

• 11:04Speaker 02

  I'll take that.

• 11:04Jay Shetty?

I find that I go through periods where the car is immaculate. And then when I have too many clothes and shoes in the car.

• 11:10Speaker 02

There are, there are times I will literally come to the car. And it's like he's been living out of his car for a long period of time.

• 11:16Jay Shetty?

Because I've started to realise, like, it happened the other night, right?

• 11:18Speaker 02

  You needed a tux.

• 11:19Jay Shetty?

I needed a suit, because I had an event to go to, and I've started to realise. So I keep my pickleball stuff in the car.

• 11:24Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 11:24Jay Shetty?

I need my, I need a suit in the car, I need a suitcase in the car potentially.

• 11:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 11:29Jay Shetty?

Like, I find, like, so much of my life is so, like, last minute.

• 11:32Speaker 02

  True.

• 11:33Jay Shetty?

I jump on a plane, do this, do that, that I've started to realise that I need to be more prepared.

• 11:37Speaker 02

I feel like you weren't prepared for this road trip, because where are my beverages?

• 11:40Jay Shetty?

Oh, no, but we're gonna buy some junior when we get there.

• 11:42Speaker 02

  Okay, fine.

• 11:43Jay Shetty?

Who's most likely to get carsick in a car that they're not driving? Me, me. I get carsick so much, I'm, I still, never let's, let's figure that out, though, that kind of like, like.

• 11:53Speaker 02

Let's just go a little bit deep into this, shall we? Let's, let's dive into it, Jay, go on.

• 11:57Jay Shetty?

I'm, I'm trying to figure out this whole carsick situation.

• 11:59Speaker 02

Yeah, it's just imbalance in the ear, babe, there's nothing to figure out.

• 12:02Jay Shetty?

No, but then how do we solve our imbalance? Because we've had this for a while.

• 12:05Speaker 02

Yeah, no, it's imbalance in, like, your eardrum.

• 12:08Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 12:08Speaker 02

So there are different ways, you can use peppermint oil, that really helps me.

• 12:11Jay Shetty?

Right, so why didn't you bring peppermint?

• 12:13Speaker 02

Chewing on ginger, that's really helpful.

• 12:15Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 12:16Speaker 02

And then if you are reading, read upwards, not outwards.

• 12:18Jay Shetty?

  What's the next question?

• 12:19Speaker 02

Okay, the next question is, would you need maps to get from our house to go to a grocery store?

• 12:24Jay Shetty?

  Yes, yes.

• 12:26Speaker 02

I think Google Maps has really ruined my ability to absorb in things around me. And like, I, I don't know what I would be without Google Maps. I don't, well, no, I know what I would be, I don't know where I would be.

• 12:38Jay Shetty?

If I was, yeah, if I'm in London, I can really get around. But I feel like ever since we moved to the States.

• 12:43Speaker 02

  I've become very reliant.

• 12:44Jay Shetty?

  So reliant on maps and.

• 12:46Speaker 02

Yeah, so in conclusion, we both would need maps to get anywhere.

• 12:49Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 12:49Speaker 02

I'm assuming this is a question from you to me.

• 12:53Jay Shetty?

  Go on.

• 12:53Speaker 02

Do you not answer texts from me because you're playing hard?

• 12:56Jay Shetty?

So I've told the team that sometimes you don't respond. I have to explain this to our friends as well, because our friends will be like.

• 13:02Speaker 02

I've gotten so much better now.

• 13:03Jay Shetty?

He's rather upset with me, like, he's rather okay, like.

• 13:05Speaker 02

  I'm fine.

• 13:06Jay Shetty?

Because I'm like, I'm like, she doesn't reply to her own husband for, like, seven messages. Like, I have to ask you the same question.

• 13:12Speaker 02

You're quite, you're quite, you're someone who, like, is not, you're not so succinct, though.

• 13:16Jay Shetty?

  I am succinct.

• 13:18Speaker 02

  Okay, fine.

• 13:18Jay Shetty?

  It's short, miss.

• 13:19Speaker 02

It is me, honestly, but I also think, you know what I really do think, and this is, I'm gonna have a Jay Shetty moment now.

• 13:25Jay Shetty?

  Fine.

• 13:25Speaker 02

I believe that we have this terrible habit of wanting people to reply within like a day or two. And I'm like, what if I wanna reply within a week?

• 13:33Jay Shetty?

But what if we live together?

• 13:35Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:36Jay Shetty?

And why if I need to make a decision?

• 13:37Speaker 02

Then you can ask me when you see me.

• 13:38Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 13:39Speaker 02

And I just think that there's this, I don't, I, I find that the reason I get distracted so fast is because this need of, oh my gosh, I have to reply to this person first, I have to reply to this email within this amount of time, I have to. And sometimes I just want the freedom, like today I replied back to an email three days later, was anybody hurt by it? No. Well, if they were, I'm sorry, but all the text messages, someone messaged me and I remembered it this morning, so I was like, oh, four days later. And I don't even feel like I should have to apologize for a late reply, because late is relative.

• 14:08Jay Shetty?

  Got it. Late is relative.

• 14:10Speaker 02

But yes, I, I am bad, I'm actually.

• 14:11Jay Shetty?

No, no, you've got really good at it.

• 14:12Speaker 02

  I've gotten so much better.

• 14:13Jay Shetty?

I just find sometimes I need to make a decision.

• 14:15Speaker 02

Totally, call me. I am not a messenger, I am so good with calls.

• 14:19Jay Shetty?

  And I'm the opposite, I'm a messenger.

• 14:21Speaker 02

  You're a messenger.

• 14:22Jay Shetty?

Yeah, don't always call me, cause I'll be in meetings or in the studio or something.

• 14:25Speaker 02

If you call me, I will pick up and we can talk, I'm more than happy to do that, but because I have to type so much for work and I'm on my phone all the time for that. Communication via phone becomes so tedious for me, it's not fun, so call me, beat me if you wanna reach me.

• 14:39Jay Shetty?

One of the times I do take calls, which I do love, is when I'm driving. That's usually my time to take a phone call.

• 14:44Speaker 02

  Same, same.

• 14:44Jay Shetty?

  It speeds up any journey.

• 14:45Speaker 02

Except LA has such bad reception.

• 14:48Jay Shetty?

  Fair.

• 14:49Speaker 02

What would each other's first line be if we met now at a party?

• 14:52Jay Shetty?

  Oh, interesting.

• 14:54Speaker 02

Mine would be something like, did you try the vegan taco?

• 15:00Jay Shetty?

  Are you vegan?

• 15:01Speaker 02

  Are you vegan?

• 15:02Jay Shetty?

Uh, what would mine be? Mine would be, we never met at a party, so I don't also have that context.

• 15:07Speaker 02

I think maybe you'd probably get into like a. Group convo with with people. And then you say something intellectual and then I'd have I'd ask you something and.

• 15:16Jay Shetty?

Oh, so I'd use my intellect.

• 15:18Speaker 02

Yeah, I think you use your intellect. What's the first song?

• 15:21Jay Shetty?

No, but do you know what? Let's not not.

• 15:24Speaker 02

  Let's get into this.

• 15:25Jay Shetty?

No, no, no. I really feel for everyone who's like dating right now online and stuff. It's really hard like. I mean, you have to be interesting on your profile. You have to be interesting on your pictures. Then you have to be interesting on text. Then you have to be interesting on a voice note. Then you have to be interested in real life.

• 15:41Speaker 02

And then you get the real life.

• 15:42Jay Shetty?

It's because you're forced to have to be interesting at every tiny point of connection.

• 15:48Speaker 02

No, sometimes I just want to not talk and just be silent. You can't do that on dates. You can't just be yourself. You always feel like you have to you have to show up as a really excitable, interesting person with a lot that you do in life. Uh, what's your screen time?

• 16:04Jay Shetty?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 16:05Speaker 02

  Well.

• 16:05Jay Shetty?

Tell me yours. I'll tell you mine later.

• 16:09Speaker 02

I don't even wanna tell you.

• 16:10Jay Shetty?

  Tell me.

• 16:12Speaker 02

  Seven hours, thirty minutes.

• 16:14Jay Shetty?

That makes sense. He's doing the work day.

• 16:16Speaker 02

Let's see what it should see what it is though. Most used WhatsApp, so like yesterday, was WhatsApp for three hours. That's messaging and calls.

• 16:25Jay Shetty?

  Talking to your mom.

• 16:26Speaker 02

Yeah. Instagram for one hour, ten, not bad. Internet surfing for one hour. Notes section, forty two minutes, because I write on that.

• 16:35Jay Shetty?

  Yeah, write your quotes.

• 16:36Speaker 02

I write my quotes on there, write my little reminders, reflections. Google Maps, thirty minutes. Messages, twenty six minutes, and Google Calendar, twenty three minutes.

• 16:43Jay Shetty?

  That's not too bad.

• 16:44Speaker 02

Honestly, that's probably one of my, and Google Mail, twenty minutes. That was writing back to that one email.

• 18:45Speaker 02

Great. If our relationship had a theme song, what would it be?

• 18:49Jay Shetty?

  Popstar?

• 18:50Speaker 02

Yeah. I'm a pop star, no, no, duh, duh. Yeah, I'd go with that.

• 18:54Jay Shetty?

I don't think that goes around.

• 18:56Speaker 02

I think that's great. Uh, do you have an ick about me?

• 19:01Speaker 02

  Where to start?

• 19:02Jay Shetty?

Yeah, literally. I think it used to be when you used to run late.

• 19:05Speaker 02

  I can tell you mine.

• 19:06Jay Shetty?

  What?

• 19:07Speaker 02

Mine is because you know you have this like photographic memory. I don't you remember everything sometimes, even if I know I'm in the right, I question myself.

• 19:16Jay Shetty?

  You're not in the right.

• 19:17Speaker 02

I am though, there are some times where you actually get it wrong.

• 19:19Jay Shetty?

  I don't.

• 19:20Speaker 02

You do, and this, this is my ick. This part.

• 19:24Jay Shetty?

  You're the stubborn one.

• 19:25Speaker 02

  I don't get anything.

• 19:25Jay Shetty?

No, you're, I do get stuff wrong. I'm actually the first to say I'm sorry or first to say I've got something wrong. You're the stubborn one.

• 19:31Speaker 02

  I am stubborn.

• 19:32Jay Shetty?

  It's your stubbornness.

• 19:32Speaker 02

  Okay, great.

• 19:34Jay Shetty?

It's gonna start fire. All right, so we're here.

• 19:37Speaker 02

  Yay.

• 19:38Jay Shetty?

  Made it.

• 19:39Speaker 02

  Made it.

• 19:40Jay Shetty?

  Enjoyed that conversation with you.

• 19:41Speaker 02

Me too, it was really great. I'm really excited to get a little beverage.

• 19:48Jay Shetty?

And for the challenge, I am not worried.

• 19:51Speaker 02

Are you ready? Are you ready? Come on, let's go. Let's go get some food. Come make me some dinner, it's Friday, I need some, I need a break, okay?

• 20:00Jay Shetty?

  Let's do it.

• 20:01Speaker 02

How do I open this? Oh yeah, amazing.

• 20:07Speaker 02

Oh, you're not opening my door for me now?

• 20:09Jay Shetty?

  Oh, sorry.

• 20:11Speaker 02

See you soon. Shall we be in here?

• 20:14Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 20:18Speaker 02

  Let's go.

• 20:20Jay Shetty?

  That was so fun.

• 21:12Jay Shetty?

I know you're hungry, I'm gonna go home and cook.

• 21:13Speaker 02

  I am, I'm so.

• 21:14Jay Shetty?

I'm gonna go home and make lunch for you. How does it feel when someone makes your own food for you?

• 21:20Speaker 02

Honestly, great, because you know what the amazing thing about cooking and recipes is? That you can, like when I cook my mum's food, I can literally cook the same thing with the same recipe and it will never taste the same.

• 21:39Jay Shetty?

  In a good way.

• 21:40Speaker 02

In a great way, like everything is so different.

• 21:42Jay Shetty?

So when I made your recipe, it would have its own flavour.

• 21:45Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 21:46Jay Shetty?

Yeah, because it will be made with love for you.

• 21:48Speaker 02

Yeah, we'll just be using different hands, different amount, like even if you're measuring things out, somehow things always taste different. That's what's so amazing about food.

• 21:55Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 21:56Speaker 02

I'm just not a person to speak to when I'm not fed.

• 21:59Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 21:59Speaker 02

  I don't know whether you're like that.

• 22:01Jay Shetty?

Is that how you feel right now?

• 22:02Speaker 02

That's how I feel right now.

• 22:03Jay Shetty?

I get what you're saying, though. I get quite hangry as well.

• 22:06Speaker 02

  Do you?

• 22:06Jay Shetty?

  Don't you?

• 22:07Speaker 02

  You do.

• 22:07Jay Shetty?

  Hopset. I get more hopset.

• 22:08Speaker 02

  I get hopset.

• 22:10Jay Shetty?

Or like hun, huh, yeah, hopset.

• 22:11Speaker 02

  I get haggitated.

• 22:13Jay Shetty?

  Haggitated, right?

• 22:15Speaker 02

  Haggitated.

• 22:16Jay Shetty?

  Haggitated.

• 22:18Jay Shetty?

So what do we do? What do I do when you're haggitated?

• 22:20Speaker 02

Ideally, not talk to me, but we can't do that right now, so, um.

• 22:23Jay Shetty?

  Because we're recording.

• 22:24Speaker 02

Let's keep this going. What do you do to keep yourself like, because you're someone who expends so much energy during the day. I feel like you're probably one of the most, what's like the word for a person who uses their time really well?

• 22:39Jay Shetty?

  Organised.

• 22:40Speaker 02

No, no, no. You are one of the most productive people.

• 22:43Jay Shetty?

  Right.

• 22:44Speaker 02

That I know, and you really don't, you know, you're not a time waster. You really use your energy and your time so efficiently. But I always wonder, and I feel like I get asked this a lot, like, how do you manage to maintain that energy level throughout the day?

• 23:00Jay Shetty?

I don't. There are times when I feel tired.

• 23:02Speaker 02

But secondary part to that question is when you do, like right now, I feel like I just want to get into bed and do nothing for the rest of the day, but like one can't do that often. So what would one do if one was feeling that way and actually, you know, how do you keep motivated and then pick your energy back up?

• 23:21Jay Shetty?

I think first of all, I do love what I do, and I really, and I'm really grateful to get to do what I do. I, I feel, I feel like I appreciate that. I get to do what I love every day and I don't take that for granted.

• 23:31Speaker 02

I've noticed that about you. You really, even if you are feeling that way, you self-soothe a lot in the sense that you, you self-talk. To motivate your, like, you don't really rely on other people.

• 23:46Jay Shetty?

  You give me encouragement.

• 23:47Speaker 02

No, but what I'm saying is you find ways. I know even when you're feeling tired, you're like, no. You know, I may be tired, but this is something that I love doing, or you're you're constantly talking to yourself in a positive language to motivate yourself or energize yourself.

• 24:03Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 24:03Speaker 02

And I've noticed that about you where even if you are tired and even if you're, yeah, I'm exhausted, but I've had such like the best week and

• 24:09Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 24:09Speaker 02

It's been so productive and I got this done and what an amazing thing to be able to do this or this and so I've noticed that with you where even and and so I think that language really makes a difference.

• 24:19Jay Shetty?

Yeah, how we talk to ourselves, yeah.

• 24:21Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 24:21Jay Shetty?

And I always say to myself, I am tired, so I'm accepting.

• 24:26Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 24:26Jay Shetty?

And then and then I add an action to solve that. So I am tired and I'll go to sleep tonight.

• 24:33Speaker 02

  I'll sleep early tonight, yeah.

• 24:34Jay Shetty?

Sorry, yeah, I'll go to sleep early tonight. Or I am tired and tomorrow I'm gonna sleep on the plane. So I've got a flight tomorrow in the morning.

• 24:40Speaker 02

Always telling you, you know what it is? It's your body reacts to how you're feeling and what you're saying to it.

• 24:45Jay Shetty?

Yeah, and you're not lying to it. You can't just be like, oh, I feel I feel energized.

• 24:48Speaker 02

No, because it knows you're lying.

• 24:49Jay Shetty?

  Yeah, yeah, exactly.

• 24:50Speaker 02

It's one of those things where you are almost giving it that hope and that something to look forward to where it's like, let's just put in that last amount of effort.

• 24:58Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 24:58Speaker 02

And then just know that I also know you are struggling and I know that this is happening in my in your in in my body. So I'm telling you body that we are gonna do this and it's gonna it's gonna make us feel better.

• 25:11Jay Shetty?

And also planning recoup, right? Like, I know that, like last weekend when you planned a little spa day for us.

• 25:17Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 25:18Jay Shetty?

Like, I was looking forward to that.

• 25:20Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 25:20Jay Shetty?

The whole week. We knew we had a tough couple of weeks before that. And now I know I've got another quite intense, like, seven days ahead.

• 25:27Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 25:28Jay Shetty?

And then I'm hoping to have a bit of couple of days of rest. And so I think it's also balancing that out and saying, okay, I know I've got a busy period. When am I going to plan some deep rest?

• 25:37Speaker 02

  Totally.

• 25:38Jay Shetty?

Rather than going, okay, I'm just gonna rely on that energy.

• 25:40Speaker 02

I think people and by people, I mean people like me, we live moment to moment. Rather than, like, there's a lot of people, and I'm not saying whether that's good or bad, but there are people who live moment to moment and react according to how they're feeling in the moment. And then there are people who, and and I think there's a training element to it where you know, you can't always act on how you're feeling because often how you're feeling may not be. May not be the right way to do what you need to do, like I feel a certain way right now. But do I have things to do and do I need to get them done? Yes. Whereas if I went with how I was feeling and I didn't train myself to push through that sometimes. I wouldn't be able to get done what I need to do. So I think it takes an element of training. I think that's every single time you're feeling that way.

• 26:25Speaker 02

Having that talk and and and pushing yourself to do.

• 26:28Jay Shetty?

Yeah, that's really smart. There you go. There you go. Solved it. What was that last question on the page?

• 26:34Speaker 02

It was what kind of party person are you?

• 26:36Jay Shetty?

Oh, introvert, extrovert. What was the option?

• 26:38Speaker 02

It was kind of like the, so I know I. And the person yawning at the party, but also the person who I find one person to talk to the whole night usually.

• 26:50Jay Shetty?

  That's what I did.

• 26:50Speaker 02

Stick with that person. No, you are like a full on social butterfly.

• 26:53Jay Shetty?

  No, I'm not.

• 26:54Speaker 02

Trying to get you out of a party.

• 26:56Jay Shetty?

No, no, this is, this is. So, okay, look, I find Jeremy at any party. No, no, this is true. When Humble lived here, I would find Humble or Jeremy at any party and we would sit and have a philosophical conversation. For an hour and a half, that's fact. That's fact. No, that's fact.

• 27:11Speaker 02

  No.

• 27:11Jay Shetty?

  Ask Humble or Jeremy.

• 27:12Speaker 02

  You're the person.

• 27:13Jay Shetty?

This is that stubbornness coming out in you. I know why too.

• 27:15Speaker 02

I know because I'm always waiting by the door, waiting for you to leave.

• 27:18Jay Shetty?

That's never happened in a million years.

• 27:19Speaker 02

Are you joking? Are you joking?

• 27:21Jay Shetty?

Name one place that we went to recently.

• 27:23Speaker 02

Okay, I'm gonna ask all my friends, all of our friends tonight when we see them. What usually happens at the end of the night? It's you talking to everybody, saying bye for about an hour.

• 27:31Jay Shetty?

Yeah, but that's because they're guests at our home or our, our event.

• 27:33Speaker 02

When we're out. Even when we're out and about, you're talking to people and I'm waiting to go to the next shop and you're just having a ju- you just, you just chatter, you are.

• 27:42Jay Shetty?

  Definitely not.

• 27:42Speaker 02

  You are. You love socializing.

• 27:44Jay Shetty?

You know what, though? We went to some really beautiful things lately. So we were really fortunate to go to Kristen Bell was being honoured by UN Women. And for the World Peace Humanitarian Fund. And it was a gala, the first ever gala. It was absolutely incredible. I think we were both moved by Sharon Stone, who spoke.

• 28:03Speaker 02

Sharon Stone gave such an incredible.

• 28:05Jay Shetty?

  She talked about.

• 28:06Speaker 02

She shared so much that I just didn't know about. And you know one thing that's made me, that, that situation made me think it was about, um, there was some women who are. You know, advocating for a lot of peace around the world. And this was a woman that came from Afghanistan. And she was talking about the amount that's happening in Afghanistan. And it made me realise that there is so much happening around the world that we don't hear about. And what makes it to us is based on what the media decides to show us. And I find that so interesting because when I then was thinking about other things that I've heard through my friends or, you know, depending on where you're from, originally, you may hear more to do with that country, right? And so I was thinking about

• 28:48Speaker 02

the other areas of the world that we just don't hear about. And there is so much happening around the world that we just don't know about.

• 28:55Jay Shetty?

  And we we can't even.

• 28:56Speaker 02

And we can't. It's so difficult. And and it's obviously what's close to you and what what's meaningful, but it is so interesting that we do kind of live in our own bubble, even though you think we have so much access to other parts of the world. Like, they were talking about what's happening in Afghanistan and how, you know, how women are treated. Yeah, refugee camps and how the women there are treated and um how they're not allowed to go out into even walk by themselves on the street. They're not allowed education. There's so much.

• 29:22Jay Shetty?

Yeah, I was really blown away. I think we were both blown away by when Sharon Stone was saying that the average refugee spends eleven years in a refugee camp. And there's no access to toilets and showers for that much time.

• 29:36Speaker 02

Yeah, you know what? I was thinking about this. And my my parents were in refugee camps while my mum was for a long time. So was my dad for years of their teenage life. And their refugee camps, my mum was saying was actually, it was in London, it was in Scotland, sorry. And they were saying they did have those facilities there, but I think maybe in different parts of the world they didn't, but um I think it's more collective showers, collective toilets, and you just think about how different people's lives can be. Like, my parents went through that for their teenage years. They spent it in refugee camps. They see it as a place that saved their life. Like, they see the refugee camps as we were able to leave a unsafe place to come and take refuge.

• 30:20Jay Shetty?

They were able to get out.

• 30:20Speaker 02

Yeah, exactly. And so they were so grateful to even have that. Someone that actually took them in and and given that opportunity to start over and start a new life.

• 30:31Jay Shetty?

Yeah, and then the other event we went to that I think was really beautiful and special this week was the celebration event for Clarence and Jackie Avon.

• 30:41Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah, that was.

• 30:41Jay Shetty?

That was just spectacular. We're so, so grateful. We both were invited by Nicole Avon to celebrate her parents and even though we didn't know her parents.

• 30:51Speaker 02

I felt like I knew them.

• 30:52Jay Shetty?

Yeah, just it was such a beautifully organised event. I felt so moved and touched because I walked away going. Wow, if only I could even try to serve my community and live in the way her parents did like.

• 31:09Speaker 02

Like to have that much impact and whether it's impact online, offline, the people closest to you, the people that you meet in a shop, whatever it is. To have that effect where people are so touched by who you are as a person and how you've gone above and beyond for them. I think it was incredible. The number of people in so many different areas, so many different walks of life. I was blown away. It was, it was incredible.

• 31:35Jay Shetty?

Yeah, it was unbelievable to have that experience and just, yeah, just to hear about how.

• 31:44Jay Shetty?

Yeah, how someone for that many years as well could continue to support and serve their community.

• 31:49Speaker 02

I know. I feel like it was from his pretty much like teenage years or both their teenage years all the way up till ninety.

• 31:57Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 31:58Speaker 02

And still there were people who had met him at ninety and were um sharing how much even within a couple of months. They had completely changed their perspective.

• 32:08Jay Shetty?

Yeah, it was really, really special. Yeah, it was incredible. And then obviously we got to watch this beautiful performance by. Uh Stevie Wonder, which I thought was spectacular.

• 32:19Speaker 02

Literally made me cry. What a legendary human.

• 32:22Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 32:23Speaker 02

And then to be able to, I think more than anybody that I've seen in real life, and we went to Beyonce's concert, we went to so many things, but. I don't know, there's something, for me, I've got a personal kind of nostalgia with Stevie Wonder. It was playing. My dad used to play it all the time in the car when I was growing up and just an amazing, amazing artist.

• 32:43Jay Shetty?

Yeah, really fun event. So those are two social events you didn't have to drag me out. There you go. Yeah, no, really, really love attending these events that almost remind you of humanity.

• 32:55Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 32:56Jay Shetty?

Like I walked away in different ways. One was what we can do to serve, what we can do to help. The other one about how we can celebrate humans as well. I felt I walked away thinking, how do I want to celebrate my parents?

• 33:06Speaker 02

  Totally.

• 33:07Jay Shetty?

How do I want to celebrate what they gave me?

• 33:09Speaker 02

Yeah, it made me walk away thinking, because there were so many amazing stories that they were telling. And it made me walk away thinking is, there's these amazing games you can buy and journals that you ask your parents to fill in and to talk about their life before you. And even their life throughout you, but it's a year-long journal. I don't know what it's called, but I'm gonna try and find it again. I saw it. And it asks questions that you would never normally ask your parents. And I realised, and I want to go back and got all these pictures and things from when they were younger, to actually ask the stories behind the pictures and write them down in the album. Because there's one thing about having like footage of, and being like, oh, this is a nice picture. But when you have the depth and the story behind it, it makes it so much more meaningful.

• 33:55Speaker 02

So I'm gonna do that with my grandma and my parents. I was gonna tell you to do that with your mum as well.

• 33:58Jay Shetty?

Remember when you tried to interview your grandma?

• 34:00Speaker 02

I did try to interview my grandma. I wish there was a way of doing it where she doesn't realise. My grandma gets into like performer mode when the camera's out. Or she gets really serious. But I still think I learnt so much from that.

• 34:11Jay Shetty?

You need to do it in a way when you're just sitting in a room and just have a camera there, yeah.

• 34:15Speaker 02

But I do think it's important. I follow this page on Instagram. That's all about the questions you should ask your parents. Oh my god, look, this card does hand gestures.

• 34:24Jay Shetty?

  What is that?

• 34:25Speaker 02

Like to change things on the screen.

• 34:28Jay Shetty?

  Oh.

• 34:28Speaker 02

There it is. I've seen that on BMWs. I forgot. You can change songs and stuff like this.

• 34:34Jay Shetty?

Okay, but what are you doing right now?

• 34:35Speaker 02

That's the hand gesture. I don't know what I'm doing right now, but that would be like if a song is playing. Yeah, I think it's so nice getting to know your parents before you, to be able to understand them and how they are with you now. I definitely wanna invest time in doing that.

• 34:50Jay Shetty?

Yeah, definitely. It was really beautiful, really, really special. And her book is amazing. It's called Think You'll Be Happy.

• 34:57Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 34:57Jay Shetty?

It's really, really special. It's really grateful to have her as a guest on the podcast. Oh, I was gonna say, my sister's wedding was one of those times that I feel like I really got to celebrate her.

• 35:08Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 35:09Jay Shetty?

And I think it's so interesting, you get very few opportunities to celebrate the people that you love. And you almost have to take all of them and create more.

• 35:18Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 35:19Jay Shetty?

Because people don't take that much time to celebrate their own lives and we don't take time to celebrate the people's, people's lives that we love.

• 35:25Speaker 02

Yeah, so true. But there's a good opportunity to do that if you do it properly.

• 35:29Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 35:30Speaker 02

  So, who were you wearing?

• 35:32Jay Shetty?

  No, no.

• 35:34Speaker 02

  Oh my god, look.

• 35:35Jay Shetty?

  Okay, ready.

• 35:38Jay Shetty?

I love how you have energy for stuff like that.

• 35:39Speaker 02

  I do, I do. Okay.

• 35:43Jay Shetty?

No, I was just thinking that my sister's wedding was honestly just so much fun.

• 35:47Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 35:47Jay Shetty?

Talking about spending time with family and talking about doing amazing things. So my sister had five events across seven days.

• 35:54Speaker 02

She had a proper Indian wedding.

• 35:55Jay Shetty?

With an average attendance of over three hundred people at every single event.

• 36:00Speaker 02

And that's a small Indian wedding.

• 36:01Jay Shetty?

And that was a small Indian wedding. But it was insane and I was more run down from her wedding than I was.

• 36:07Speaker 02

  From your tour.

• 36:08Jay Shetty?

From my tour. And I think the reason is because it was so emotional as well.

• 36:13Speaker 02

Oh my god, this boy was crying.

• 36:15Jay Shetty?

Yeah, I must have cried, like.

• 36:16Speaker 02

He was just crying every day.

• 36:17Jay Shetty?

  I must have cried.

• 36:18Speaker 02

Every day, every hour, the whole ceremony.

• 36:20Jay Shetty?

  You were crying as well.

• 36:21Speaker 02

He looked across, I would look across at him and he'd be crying and then naturally when people cry, I cry. Obviously, I just also love that relationship. It's so sweet. It's, it's one of the sweetest brother sister relationships I've ever come across. And there was one time where he turned to me and he just stopped crying and then suddenly I look over, he's crying again. He looks at me, he goes. She was saying her vows. She's so well spoken.

• 36:45Speaker 02

I was like, okay, great. Yeah, she's, she did really good speeches. Like she went to elocution classes when she was young. And he was just really, he was welling up at her speaking so beautifully. I think she said like one line.

• 36:57Jay Shetty?

But you were crying as well.

• 36:58Speaker 02

Of course I was crying. We love her. She's just like.

• 37:01Jay Shetty?

  She's a baby.

• 37:01Speaker 02

  Yeah, she's your kid.

• 37:03Jay Shetty?

Yeah, it was really cute. It was really cute. And then I cried throughout my whole speech.

• 37:07Speaker 02

Cried through the whole speech, blubbering away. It was really sweet though.

• 37:12Jay Shetty?

I don't think, do you know what it was?

• 37:13Speaker 02

Actually, the speech was half sweet and half sassy.

• 37:16Jay Shetty?

Yeah, the first half was legendary.

• 37:19Speaker 02

First half, normally, you know in speeches, people have a bit of banter. Jay took it all the way bantering.

• 37:25Jay Shetty?

It was a full on comedy set.

• 37:27Speaker 02

  It was?

• 37:27Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 37:28Speaker 02

Who knew you were funny? I did.

• 37:30Jay Shetty?

You did. I think what it was, right, about the wedding was I actually realised just how much my sister loves me. And I realised how much I love her, like, it was like, that was what I was feeling.

• 37:41Speaker 02

I, you, how, how you didn't know how much your sister loved you. You are literally the epitome of, like, you're just everything to her. There is nothing you could do wrong in her eyes. And even if you do, she's forgiven it within like five seconds.

• 37:55Jay Shetty?

Well, I think it's also, you know what it is?

• 37:57Speaker 02

But she knows how much you love her, that's why.

• 37:59Jay Shetty?

I think because we live far, I think sometimes I have to put some of my feelings aside to get on with my focus and my drive.

• 38:08Speaker 02

  Mm hmm.

• 38:09Jay Shetty?

And there's an element of where I have to, I don't get to express those emotions all year round.

• 38:16Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 38:16Jay Shetty?

But I am carrying them internally and then they all come out in that moment. Because I don't, you know, I don't get to see my sister every week, I don't get to talk to her all the time. And when I do even, I've never found phone conversations to be as fulfilling and as deep as being in person.

• 38:30Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 38:31Jay Shetty?

And so I feel like I carried that love around and then it was all, all had to come out. You were so wonderful, you helped her with the wedding so much.

• 38:38Speaker 02

  I love that.

• 38:39Jay Shetty?

She was so grateful to you and you did so much for the wedding, it was amazing. And she did an amazing job planning an epic wedding.

• 38:44Speaker 02

  Oh my god.

• 38:45Jay Shetty?

I was like, I don't know how someone plans five events in seven days.

• 38:48Speaker 02

In such, in so much detail.

• 38:49Jay Shetty?

  Yeah, it's insane.

• 38:50Speaker 02

  It was.

• 38:52Speaker 02

Oh, is that the sound of the car?

• 38:53Jay Shetty?

  Yeah.

• 38:53Speaker 02

  Sounds like a spaceship.

• 38:54Jay Shetty?

It does, it feels like a spaceship.

• 38:56Speaker 02

  It does.

• 39:03Jay Shetty?

  Exactly.

• 39:04Speaker 02

  I'm so hungry.

• 39:06Jay Shetty?

I know. Are you excited for some Mexican rice?

• 39:08Speaker 02

  Yeah, honestly, I am.

• 39:10Jay Shetty?

Are you excited for some stuffed pepper?

• 39:13Speaker 02

  We're not.

• 39:13Jay Shetty?

Oh, we're not doing that. Are you excited for some cabbage? Are you excited for some cilantro?

• 39:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 39:20Jay Shetty?

Are you excited for some avocado?

• 39:22Speaker 02

  Oh, my God, fresh quokka.

• 39:23Jay Shetty?

Are you excited for some taco seasoning?

• 39:25Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 39:26Jay Shetty?

Are you excited for some bell peppers?

• 39:27Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 39:28Jay Shetty?

Are you excited for some vegan eggs? Are you excited for some sour cream?

• 39:32Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 39:33Jay Shetty?

There you go, see? I remembered everything on the list.

• 39:35Speaker 02

  I know.

• 39:36Jay Shetty?

  I actually remembered your recipe.

• 39:37Speaker 02

Oh, my God, have you know that game that's like, I went to the store and I bought, but that's usually an alphabetical one, but I went to the store and I bought beans.

• 39:46Jay Shetty?

Asafoetida. Oh, I got you there, didn't I?

• 39:49Speaker 02

I went to the store and I bought asafoetida and beans.

• 39:52Jay Shetty?

I went to the store and got some asafoetida, beans, and canned tomatoes.

• 39:55Speaker 02

This is, there's no reason for this to be in that actual card.

• 39:58Jay Shetty?

  There is, this is great.

• 39:59Speaker 02

I went to the store and I bought asafoetida, beans, what did you say?

• 40:03Jay Shetty?

  Canned tomatoes.

• 40:04Speaker 02

  Canned tomatoes and dried oregano.

• 40:10Jay Shetty?

  Okay.

• 40:13Jay Shetty?

So, that was good, that was fun, now we're gonna cook and then eat.

• 40:17Speaker 02

  Let's do it.

• 40:17Jay Shetty?

All right, if everyone wants to see me try and cook this recipe from Radhi's book For Radhi, tune into YouTube.

• 40:24Speaker 02

  Yes, please. That's good.

• 40:27Jay Shetty?

Everything in nature grows only where it's vulnerable, so a tree doesn't grow where it's hard and thick, does it? It grows where it's soft and green and vulnerable.
