When you wish upon a star.

• 1:04Sabrina Deana-Roga?

When's the last time you wished upon a star?

• 1:06Corinne Vien?

Maybe like three years ago. When was the last time you did?

• 1:08Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I think I was a child.

• 1:09Corinne Vien?

Did you wish to be 17 again for Freaky Friday?

• 1:13Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Honestly, being Freaky Friday'd with you would be really fun.

• 1:15Corinne Vien?

  Oh my god.

• 1:16Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Because I've been dreaming for you to possess me. So I handle a lot of things in my life that I am not handling.

• 1:21Corinne Vien?

It's not my life, it's yours. So I would feel less emotional.

• 1:26Sabrina Deana-Roga?

If you were Freaky Friday'd and you would be like cutting all this shit.

• 1:30Corinne Vien?

You'd come back to a different life, that's for sure.

• 1:32Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And I would be so grateful.

• 1:33Corinne Vien?

  It would be great.

• 1:33Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 1:34Corinne Vien?

Not that your life isn't great.

• 1:38Sabrina Deana-Roga?

You just, you also said it and then like fantasized about it first.

• 1:41Corinne Vien?

I can't, can you see me go there? I like literally, I had a vision of you just like so peacefully at a writer's desk, looking out on snowy Marblehead out of a bay window. That's like literally the image that popped into my head. Which is probably why I was smiling, because I was like, wow, this is so nice.

• 1:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Krieger killed everyone else.

• 1:59Corinne Vien?

  The Marblehead screechers.

• 2:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And then all of a sudden like police sirens come up because.

• 2:04Corinne Vien?

  It wasn't me, I swear.

• 2:05Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I wished upon a star.

• 2:06Corinne Vien?

And the baby's coming. Surprise, the baby's coming.

• 2:10Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I know.

• 2:11Corinne Vien?

  I'm having a baby.

• 2:37Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Hey.

• 2:37Corinne Vien?

  Hi.

• 2:38Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Hello, everyone.

• 2:39Corinne Vien?

This is Two Girls One Ghost.

• 2:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Two Girls One Ghost. And we are your ghostesses. That is Corinne.

• 2:44Corinne Vien?

  Hello.

• 2:45Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And I'm Sabrina. And this is-

• 2:46Corinne Vien?

  I love your Christmas sweater.

• 2:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah, this is our Christmas encounters.

• 2:51Corinne Vien?

  Whoops.

• 2:53Corinne Vien?

I actually had the thought this morning. I was like, oh, I should put on my Halloween Christmas sweater that Allison had thrifted me.

• 2:59Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I love that one.

• 2:59Corinne Vien?

But I cannot find it. I can't find anything right now because our closets are about to be redone. And by redone, I mean like when I reach into my closet, my knuckles bleed because the popcorn texture around the whole thing like scrapes us. So all, everything is just like in piles on the floor because it's just gonna get smoothed over and everything right back in. Yeah, but I couldn't fricking find it.

• 3:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, this was in a secret place that you know about. I had to go get it.

• 3:27Corinne Vien?

Oh, yeah. Hmm, maybe on Patreon.

• 3:30Sabrina Deana-Roga?

No, we won't get that deep.

• 3:32Corinne Vien?

  Okay.

• 3:34Corinne Vien?

  Secrets, secrets are no fun.

• 3:36Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Unless you share with everyone and no one's gonna know except for Corinne.

• 3:40Corinne Vien?

Oh, my God, you're so not fun.

• 3:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I'm so boring. Actually, I totally-

• 3:45Corinne Vien?

People are gonna take to Reddit and make another thread about you because you won't tell the secret.

• 3:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I like it. I'm a mystery. Try to figure me out. I can't figure me out. I remember what I was gonna tell you yesterday when we were recording and I had a complete brain fart.

• 4:00Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 4:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I wish we had a prop, but apparently if you ask Alexa, what is the most haunted podcast in America? It says Two Girls One Ghost.

• 4:08Corinne Vien?

  What?

• 4:09Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, it makes sense because we call ourselves-

• 4:10Corinne Vien?

Because we call it. So it's like it's scrubbing the internet and it's like we say it a million times over. And so there it is. But damn, I love that. What other things do we need to claim ourselves as to beat the algorithm?

• 4:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

The best podcast in the world.

• 4:23Corinne Vien?

Okay, the best podcast in the world, the most haunted podcast in the world. Everyone say it a million times over, blog about it, post it on the internet.

• 4:30Sabrina Deana-Roga?

What podcast should you listen to? Question mark. Two Girls One Ghost is the answer.

• 4:34Corinne Vien?

  Yeah, perfect.

• 4:35Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Put it out there. Tell Chad.

• 4:36Corinne Vien?

  I love that.

• 4:37Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Tell ChatGPT or Chad. I call him Chad.

• 4:39Corinne Vien?

  Chad. Tell Chad.

• 4:41Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Tell Chad.

• 4:42Corinne Vien?

When you message Chad, Chad, do you say please?

• 4:46Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I do.

• 4:46Corinne Vien?

  Cause I'm always so polite.

• 4:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Thank you.

• 4:48Corinne Vien?

And I, yeah, I feel so rude because I'm like, what if it is another level of consciousness? Like, I don't want to be rude.

• 4:54Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I try to be polite.

• 4:55Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 4:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  And then I'll like.

• 4:56Corinne Vien?

Cause we think of confused as.

• 4:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Him too. He was wrong about some things and I, I corrected him.

• 5:01Corinne Vien?

  Oh, really?

• 5:02Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I said, here's the real information.

• 5:03Corinne Vien?

How did the conversation go? Back and forth. You stupid dumb robot.

• 5:08Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I was asking him for help with the 72 demons of Solomon.

• 5:12Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 5:13Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And just like getting the list of the names and he messed that list up.

• 5:18Corinne Vien?

See, that's the thing. I've tried one other time for research, being like, can you write a whatever? Like episode, just to see what would happen. And it was like, half of it was made up.

• 5:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 5:28Corinne Vien?

And I was like, can you make it factual from what people have experienced at this hotel? And the history that is included on the website and half of it's still made up.

• 5:37Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 5:38Corinne Vien?

So I'm like, okay, well, clearly we, we don't get, it's not going to be easy for us. We still have to research everything.

• 5:45Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I don't think Chad believes in ghosts. So I think that's where the disconnect is.

• 5:48Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 5:49Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Chad's not a demon guy.

• 5:50Corinne Vien?

Spooky story. I'll tell you one and I'm like, no, no, no, no.

• 5:53Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  That's not what I wanted.

• 5:54Corinne Vien?

This is supposed to be real.

• 5:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Speaking of something real, you have an exciting new podcast coming out in February.

• 6:01Corinne Vien?

Oh, my God. Thank you for reminding me.

• 6:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Will you tell everyone about it?

• 6:04Corinne Vien?

Life is so hard and goes so fast that like, you were even like, I didn't know it was launching. And I was like, me either. I was in the hospital when it launched. Things were, things are crazy. But people might remember that a few years ago, I talked about meeting now my friend Jake in the apartment building that we lived in.

• 6:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  In the elevator.

• 6:21Corinne Vien?

In Boston. I met him in the elevator. I walked onto the elevator and there was this man who was standing with a walker and his arms were shaking and he like clearly looked in distress. And so it was like, how are you doing?

• 6:32Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Around our age, right? He's a little bit older.

• 6:34Corinne Vien?

Maybe two or three years older than us. He's born on Halloween. He has a Halloween birthday, October 31st. Happy birthday Jake. A few months ago.

• 6:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Just like because we're always Halloween, it's always Jake's birthday.

• 6:44Corinne Vien?

It's always Jake's birthday here at Two Girls and Guys. But he was, he was like shaking and I asked, I said, how are you doing? Just like a cordial hello to a neighbor. And he said, not good, which I appreciated the candor.

• 6:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 6:57Corinne Vien?

And I was like, oh no, what can I do to help you? And that was my intro to Jake. He, in that moment, was trying to walk with a walker for the first time ever, being out of his, like wheelchair essentially.

• 7:09Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Mm hmm.

• 7:09Corinne Vien?

And his friend had gotten off the elevator and the doors closed and he got separated. And so he was holding on for dear life, trying not to fall. And so then I, I escorted him with my strong muscles to his apartment. That was my intro to Jake. Jake has this wild story.

• 7:25Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  It really is.

• 7:26Corinne Vien?

Where he is the only documented survivor in the world from this incurable, quote unquote, brain disease called acute toxic progressive leukoencephalopathy. So basically Jake was this guy who was like deep in the world of heroin in Boston and was like kind of a big drug dealer, had a really wild backstory to his life, married, young, all of this sort of stuff. One day, he just started to very quickly like lose his speech and his ability to move. And that led a couple of days later to this.

• 7:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Rare disease.

• 7:59Corinne Vien?

Rare disease. Yeah. And so they thought that it was brought on by his heroin inhalation and they basically gave him six months to live. And once he slips into a coma, he would die, every single person before him did. The disease eats the white matter of your brain. So like you literally are going brain dead because your brain is being destroyed. Like there's no coming back from it.

• 8:18Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 8:19Corinne Vien?

Somehow, in some way, while everyone around Jake thought that he was basically brain dead, he was awake and conscious and trying to plot how the fuck he was gonna let anyone know he was trapped in his body. It's a huge medical miracle and all of the top doctors in the world and in Boston are studying Jake. He's like constantly meeting with neurologists and, and all of these specialists because he's just this like medical miracle. But his story is so much more.

• 8:47Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And you've been doing so much work, you've been interviewing people.

• 8:49Corinne Vien?

Well, we did this two years ago.

• 8:51Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 8:51Corinne Vien?

Two years ago, we interviewed a ton of people because I, I asked Jake, I was like, Jake, you should make this a podcast, Jake, you should do this.

• 8:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 8:56Corinne Vien?

And in passing, we just. Talking about it. And then eventually I was like, do you want help? And he's like, yes. So Jake and I did a bunch of interviews a couple of years ago. We'd actually planned to release the podcast last year, but then I got pregnant and things just got delayed.

• 9:09Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  That happens.

• 9:10Corinne Vien?

Yeah, busy and tired, but now it's coming out. It's coming out, but yeah, his story, you know, it's called Blink.

• 9:18Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  What's the date?

• 9:19Corinne Vien?

February 2nd. Blink Jake Handel's story is, and we can link it in the show notes, but while it's grounded in the medical mystery of Jake's recovery, the majority of the story, I will say, dabbles in some of the relationships and kind of the nefarious things that started to come out. When people thought that he was not conscious, there's a lot of admissions.

• 9:41Sabrina Deana-Roga?

There was a lot more to the story.

• 9:43Corinne Vien?

He overheard crimes, attempted murders. It's crazy.

• 9:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

What I've heard is incredible, so I'm excited to hear the whole series.

• 9:52Corinne Vien?

I know, I'm very excited to, Jake is obviously thrilled because it's, it's his story, but like,

• 9:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 9:57Corinne Vien?

My God, it's so wild. My friend Mike is doing all the soundscaping and all of the music behind it. And every single time I send Mike an episode in the past, he's messaged me and being like, I can't fucking believe this.

• 10:07Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I know, it's a crazy story.

• 10:09Corinne Vien?

Yeah. And what's one more thing I'll just say about it was in more of like a conversational way, not really as a way to plug it. But Jake's story was so wild that there was a big part of me that was like, this can't all be true. And I literally, we pulled police records. I met with all of these doctors in Boston. Jake like signed away his rights to basically give me his medical documents and his legal documents.

• 10:32Sabrina Deana-Roga?

So you could use all of it.

• 10:33Corinne Vien?

Reports and everything. And literally that like, all of it's true. It's so crazy. It's so crazy.

• 10:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  So February 2nd.

• 10:41Corinne Vien?

Yeah, February 2nd. I'm going to be listening. It's like, wow.

• 10:46Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, I'm excited for you and I can't wait to listen.

• 10:48Corinne Vien?

I'm just the voice. I'm the narrator.

• 10:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

You're a lot more than that. You're putting it together.

• 10:52Corinne Vien?

Yeah, I did the interviews. Okay, I made the podcast.

• 10:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  You're making the podcast.

• 10:57Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Underselling yourself, dude.

• 10:59Corinne Vien?

But you do hear my voice on it. I did, I, I kind of interject once in a while and help with the timeline. And sometimes I give my unsolicited opinions, which I'm like, hmm.

• 11:11Sabrina Deana-Roga?

No, that's gonna go. It's helpful to have like someone outside of the story guide people through it.

• 11:16Corinne Vien?

Yeah. So February 2nd, check it out.

• 11:18Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Check it out.

• 11:19Corinne Vien?

  Thanks. Thanks for reminding me.

• 11:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Of course. Speaking of guiding you through stories, that's what we're gonna do today. This is an encounters episode and it's our holiday episode. We picked some Christmasy, holiday-themed stories to share with you. I have a couple of short ones and then I have one that's a little bit of a mystery that happened to us. Should I start with that one?

• 11:38Corinne Vien?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, cuz I don't like being told something and not being told immediately what it's about.

• 11:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

So much about this doesn't make sense because last year, I guess, I had given you an option of like reading a Bigfoot story and this is for the Christmas episode.

• 11:52Corinne Vien?

  Christmas Bigfoot.

• 11:53Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Or something else. And we emailed the listener of this one story saying that we read her story.

• 12:01Corinne Vien?

  But we didn't.

• 12:01Sabrina Deana-Roga?

We did not. And I was like, looking back at the email and none of it makes sense because we say that we read it on our most recent encounters, 251, which is 11 episodes before this one. So that's not possible. And we say it came out December 10th, 2024. Also not possible.

• 12:20Corinne Vien?

So we did not send this email, basically.

• 12:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

No, we definitely did because we sent it around the time of when whatever encounters we thought we read it on. I think there was just a lot of typos.

• 12:31Corinne Vien?

  Oh.

• 12:31Sabrina Deana-Roga?

But I think this episode does come out on Patreon. Let me look at a calendar.

• 12:38Corinne Vien?

In some way, the universe was like, you're supposed to read this and we're gonna make sure you do.

• 12:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Okay, it comes out December 12th, but like, the typos, it's all weird. Anyway, we never read it.

• 12:47Corinne Vien?

Also, this is like the first time this has ever happened in our like seven or eight years where we say, hey, we read your email and the person's like, no, you didn't.

• 12:53Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah, right. Like, we lied to you. I'm so sorry.

• 12:56Corinne Vien?

  Whoops.

• 12:57Sabrina Deana-Roga?

We lied to you and we like did so many typos. I don't even know what we were trying to say. But this is from our listener, Maddie. And Maddie resent it and was like, hey, I like basically explaining the whole thing of like, you said you read it, but you didn't. Hopefully you read it.

• 13:12Corinne Vien?

It was a ruse to get you to listen to that episode. We needed one more listener.

• 13:16Sabrina Deana-Roga?

It was a ruse to keep you around for a whole other year. Anyway, we're gonna read it now, Maddie.

• 13:23Sabrina Deana-Roga?

This is called A Christmas Angel and a New Year's Demon.

• 13:27Corinne Vien?

  Oh, wow.

• 13:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Hi from Canada.

• 13:29Corinne Vien?

  Hello.

• 13:30Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I don't blame Corinne for wanting to talk about her mans, but here's my story again, hoping it can be read this year. Lots of love. I heard about your podcast a few times over the years from other podcasts, but finally heard about you on Morbid in October and decided, okay, it's time. I'll give you a listen.

• 13:46Corinne Vien?

  Great.

• 13:47Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I'm about 50 episodes in, and this was last year. So let's see, hopefully you're caught up now. And I'm loving it. It took about 30 episodes or so before I could tell your voices apart, but now I've got it down. I love the podcasts, scary spooks and all, and really enjoy the relief meows provided by Leia at the most perfect moments, which I'm sorry, now you only get it if you listen to the ads in the episodes.

• 14:08Corinne Vien?

Yeah, because we don't, she's banned from my house.

• 14:12Sabrina Deana-Roga?

She doesn't come with me when I travel here.

• 14:14Corinne Vien?

Can you imagine? Oh, you could have gotten one of those like little space backpacks.

• 14:17Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I basically have one of those.

• 14:19Corinne Vien?

  Really?

• 14:19Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 14:20Corinne Vien?

  That she can look out?

• 14:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Mm-hmm.

• 14:21Corinne Vien?

  That's cool. Take a picture.

• 14:23Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I brought her to the cemetery in the summer with it.

• 14:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And then it unzips a little bit so you can like stretch it out. And so then she can like have space.

• 14:33Corinne Vien?

  Wow, I love that.

• 14:34Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Okay, now for the stories. A few years ago on Christmas Eve, my mom was at one of her many jobs, working the night shift at a women's shelter. My brother wasn't home, so it left myself, my boyfriend at the time, and my dad. We had all gone to bed and were sleeping soundly. And a little while after midnight, in the wee hours of Christmas morning, I woke to the sound of a woman humming a lovely tune on the stairwell just outside of my bedroom. At first I was terrified because I thought, well, I am the only lady in the house and I ain't humming. But as I listened and the humming continued, I began to feel less scared and more comforted. It was as if I was getting a big, warm hug from someone I loved. I nudged my boyfriend awake so he could hear the woman humming. He was a non-believer of all things spiritual and spooky, which is why I dumped his ass.

• 15:20Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Just kidding, or am I?

• 15:24Corinne Vien?

  You're not kidding.

• 15:25Sabrina Deana-Roga?

If you need to break up with someone and they don't believe in ghosts, that's your reason.

• 15:28Corinne Vien?

That's the, yeah, you need no more reasons.

• 15:30Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I'm really sorry I have to break up with you.

• 15:31Corinne Vien?

  You don't believe in ghosts.

• 15:33Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  And that's one of my

• 15:34Corinne Vien?

  It's your hamarsha, sorry.

• 15:36Sabrina Deana-Roga?

must check off on this list. And if you don't, goodbye.

• 15:39Corinne Vien?

  Yeah, you're done.

• 15:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

So in his half awake, half sleep state, I asked him, do you hear that? What is that? And he sleepily said, someone singing? I needed that just to confirm that I was hearing it. And even though he denied it the next morning, I know he heard it too. Later, when my mom got home that morning, I immediately told her what I heard and she said, oh, that must have been Nana. Christmas was her favorite.

• 16:02Corinne Vien?

  Oh, that's so sweet.

• 16:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And Nana was my mom's mom. She died when I was only one years old, but I've been told by a medium that Nana is my guardian angel and is always with me. The next Christmas, late at night on Christmas Eve, my mom and I were sitting on my bed chatting when all of a sudden, we heard a short tune being hummed in the stairwell outside of my bedroom. We both immediately stopped talking and just looked at each other and smiled.

• 16:24Corinne Vien?

Wait, I love this, just a humming Nana.

• 16:26Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I know, it's sweet.

• 16:27Corinne Vien?

That is the sweetest thing ever.

• 16:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Especially on Christmas morning.

• 16:29Corinne Vien?

  Yeah, how warm.

• 16:31Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Another quick story to tack on to Nana's Christmas visits happened years before the humming. On Christmas Day, my parents and I went to our family friend's house down the road for dinner. It was about a two minute drive or an eight minute walk from our house. My brother, a teenage boy at that time, felt he was much too cool to join in on this dinner and thought, his time would be better spent chatting with friends on MSN.

• 16:51Corinne Vien?

Oh, my God, what a throwback.

• 16:53Sabrina Deana-Roga?

That was also such the Canadian way to chat. Like, I would talk to my cousins and stuff on MSN. And then AIM, like all my friends.

• 17:00Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 17:01Sabrina Deana-Roga?

After the dinner party was over, my parents and I were pulling out of the driveway of our friend's house when we saw my brother, wearing skater shoes, sweatpants and a zip-up hoodie, in minus 30 degrees Celsius, sprinting towards us. We picked him up and asked what the H E double hockey sticks he was doing. And he told us that while he was chatting it up on MSN in the computer room, out of nowhere, he heard a disembodied woman's voice say, hello? And he got so spooked, he threw on a pair of shoes and booked it.

• 17:31Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Now, having experienced my Nana on Christmas Christmas a few times. I believe this was her wondering where we had all gone off to on Christmas day.

• 17:38Corinne Vien?

I also just love this because I feel like you and I talk sometimes about what we would do, what our our classic haunting move would be. And I feel like we both think of sometimes extravagant things to do to spook people.

• 17:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 17:51Corinne Vien?

But sometimes all you need to do is just say hello.

• 17:53Sabrina Deana-Roga?

That truly is all you have to do.

• 17:54Corinne Vien?

  Just hi. That's it. Done.

• 17:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 17:57Corinne Vien?

Scared shitless, running out of the house.

• 17:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

You could flicker the lights. You could go simple.

• 18:02Corinne Vien?

Simple, the better. Slow burn, where they think that they're going a little bit mad. Seven psychopath style.

• 18:07Sabrina Deana-Roga?

That's a little bit more less simple.

• 18:09Corinne Vien?

It's probably what I would do.

• 18:10Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah, that's that's the elaborate scheme.

• 18:13Corinne Vien?

I'd be like kind of the Dexter of the paranormal where I choose a bad guy and I would just spend like two years making them dissolve into a puddle.

• 18:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I have been rewatching Dexter and the new series like Origins is coming out or Original Sin or whatever it is.

• 18:28Corinne Vien?

  Oh.

• 18:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Is coming out, I think in January, February.

• 18:31Corinne Vien?

It reminded me that I never finished the final season.

• 18:34Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, now's your time to catch up.

• 18:36Corinne Vien?

I'm still on season two of Gilmore Girls. It's been four months.

• 18:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, now for a dark story. On New Year's Day, many years ago, after a heavy night of drinking, I went to my best friend's house down the road from mine so I could have a hangover buddy.

• 18:49Corinne Vien?

I love that. That's so nice.

• 18:52Sabrina Deana-Roga?

We were both dressed in our Christmas onesies. We ate a bunch of junk and watched movies all day. Mid afternoon hit us hard and we decided we best mosey on up to her room for a team nap.

• 19:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

We closed her blinds and hit the pillows. After I'm not sure how long I woke up, or so I thought. I am the kind of sleeper who, instead of sleeping curled up in a ball to protect myself in the most vulnerable state, I throw my arms overhead like I'm at a rave.

• 19:18Sabrina Deana-Roga?

When I woke up, I could not move. It was my first experience of sleep paralysis. I was panicking. It felt like someone's hands were wrapped around my wrist, holding my hands together while something else was sitting on my chest.

• 19:29Corinne Vien?

  My god.

• 19:29Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I tried to scream and wake up my friend sleeping soundly beside me, but nothing came out of my mouth. My eyes opened and I could see her room just as we had left it before having a nap. Clothing strewn all over the room, the door cracked open just a few inches, the ceiling fan on low and the afternoon light peeking in from behind the closed blinds. Then, as if by a magnet, my eyes were drawn to the far corner of the room, behind the mostly shut door. The room grew darker as my eyes made the way there. And that is when I heard it. My best friend's mom laughing. I had heard this laugh a million times and knew it by heart. It was always a warming, happy laugh. But this time, it felt dark and menacing. Once my eyes finally made it to the corner, I saw it.

• 20:13Sabrina Deana-Roga?

A dark, shadow figure with the most evil look. At this point, I was fighting so hard to move and yet nothing. I was just staring at this vast, black demonic presence. And then I woke, sweating head to toe. I woke my friend up and asked her if we could go back downstairs because I was thirsty. To this day, I have not and will never tell my best friend this story because at this point in time, her mom had been dead for many years.

• 20:37Corinne Vien?

  Holy shit.

• 20:39Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I just gave myself chills retelling this story as I don't tell it too often. Thanks for reading. I hope to hear my story on one of your future encounters episodes.

• 20:48Corinne Vien?

Well, this one, we know we read it in.

• 20:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Now I remember it, yeah. Love from Ontario, Canada, Maddie, Richard and Remy. You can use our names.

• 20:55Corinne Vien?

Damn, what a way to go into the new year.

• 20:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Happy New Year.

• 21:00Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 21:02Corinne Vien?

  Wildest haunting ever.

• 21:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 21:04Corinne Vien?

  Sleep rouses, demons, deceased moms.

• 21:07Sabrina Deana-Roga?

That's what you get for drinking. Don't drink, kids.

• 21:09Corinne Vien?

Yeah, that, see what happens when you have a lick of alcohol.

• 21:12Sabrina Deana-Roga?

When you have too much fun and get hung over.

• 21:15Corinne Vien?

You know, she was looking for a hangover buddy. She didn't specify who the buddy was.

• 21:20Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Were you looking for a hangover demon? Because you got one.

• 21:23Corinne Vien?

They just said, they heard you say, I want company while I'm hungover. And so they, they granted your New Year's wish.

• 21:30Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah, they did.

• 21:31Corinne Vien?

When you wish upon a star.

• 21:35Sabrina Deana-Roga?

When's the last time you wished upon a star?

• 21:37Corinne Vien?

Um, it had to have been years ago.

• 21:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 21:41Corinne Vien?

When I was in Vermont, because that's the only place I've ever. Had enough like darkness to see shooting stars.

• 21:46Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I feel like lately it's been pretty dark here where you get some good stars.

• 21:49Corinne Vien?

Oh, yeah. I guess that's true, but it's like not the density of stars that you get.

• 21:54Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  That you get.

• 21:55Corinne Vien?

Yeah. So I guess maybe like three years ago, because I do remember sitting outside in the summer in Vermont, when I think Fran and Marissa were at my parents' house and a shooting star went by.

• 22:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 22:04Corinne Vien?

  So a few years ago.

• 22:05Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  A few years ago.

• 22:06Corinne Vien?

When was the last time you did?

• 22:07Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I think I was a child.

• 22:08Corinne Vien?

Did you wish to be seventeen again Freaky Friday?

• 22:12Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Honestly, being Freaky Friday'd with you would be really fun.

• 22:14Corinne Vien?

  Oh, my god.

• 22:15Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Because I've been dreaming for you to possess me, so.

• 22:18Corinne Vien?

I know, and I would, I'd get to experience what it's like to be around cats and not suffer.

• 22:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

That's true. And you'd also handle a lot of things in my life that I am not handling.

• 22:26Corinne Vien?

  That's okay.

• 22:27Sabrina Deana-Roga?

No, I know, but like I would like you to do it.

• 22:29Corinne Vien?

Oh, I'm like, it's fine. Go at your own pace.

• 22:33Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Well, duh, I mean, I have to, I am, but I wish I wasn't.

• 22:36Corinne Vien?

Well, the difference is, yeah, it's not my life, it's yours. So I would feel.

• 22:41Sabrina Deana-Roga?

No, Corinne, if you were Freaky Friday'd and you would be like cutting all this shit.

• 22:47Corinne Vien?

You'd come back to a different life, that's for sure.

• 22:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And I would be so grateful.

• 22:49Corinne Vien?

  It would be great.

• 22:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 22:51Corinne Vien?

Not that your life isn't great.

• 22:54Corinne Vien?

  That sounded bad.

• 22:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

You just, you also said it and then like fantasized about it first.

• 22:58Corinne Vien?

I can't, do you see me go there?

• 23:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  You were like.

• 23:00Corinne Vien?

I like literally, I had a vision of you just like so peacefully at a writer's desk, looking out on snowy Marblehead out of a bay window. That's like literally the image that popped into my head, which is why, probably why I was smiling. Because I was like, wow, this is so nice. Because that's where you'd come back, you'd snap back and you'd be there and like half of your writing would already be done. And it would be shitty because I had started it. But you'd be like, oh, yeah, that's where I left off. And I have time because Corinne eliminated everything else.

• 23:30Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Corinne killed everyone else.

• 23:33Corinne Vien?

  The Marblehead screechers.

• 23:34Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And then all of a sudden like police sirens come up because, yeah.

• 23:39Corinne Vien?

Like it wasn't me, I swear.

• 23:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I was Freaky Friday'd.

• 23:41Corinne Vien?

CCTV footage of me holding cats and creating crimes.

• 23:46Sabrina Deana-Roga?

They're like, no, this was you. And I was like, no, I swear. I wished upon a star.

• 23:50Corinne Vien?

I was possessed. I know exactly where she is.

• 23:55Corinne Vien?

It's called The Christmas Visitor. Being a spiritualist, spirits, or ghosts, if you insist, are not unusual to me.

• 24:39Corinne Vien?

I've had several experiences and would like to share one of my most vivid and moving. It was Christmas night, or perhaps it was the wee hours of the next morning, Christmas Day. Being in the midst of a probable divorce, the holiday with my family had been both wonderful and also painful for me. I cried a bit before I said my prayers and then I fell asleep. And crying was not unusual for me at this time. Sometime later, I awoke. I turned on the lights and I went to use the restroom and I went to go get a drink of water. I was very awake. It was bitter cold outside, Indiana winter. And as I returned to my bedroom and snuggled back into my warm bed beside the drafty window of my two-story townhouse, my feet were cold from the bathroom run and I felt cold. And once again, I felt sad and lonely.

• 25:23Corinne Vien?

But just then, I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I was surprised but not afraid and I was now super awake. Yeah. The footsteps continued and then I heard the old floor of the landing creak and groan and the steps neared my bedroom door. Was it Santa? I think Santa was coming. Nicholas, come climb into bed with me. I raised up on my elbows, not anxious to get out of bed because of the chill. And it seemed even colder than it was a few seconds before. And before I could say anything, the left side of my bed lowered and the springs squeaked as if someone was now sitting on the edge of my bed. Santa was getting into.

• 26:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Bed.

• 26:01Corinne Vien?

My jaw dropped and I felt the weight of the side of the bed even out as if someone went from sitting to lying down. Instantly, though, I felt better. At this point, I was not frightened. I was just curious. And indeed, I felt a sense of peace and love. I was comforted. I felt loved. I felt cared for. My feet were no longer cold, nor was the room. I'm not absolutely sure who visited me on that cold, sad Christmas night slash morning, but I know positively that it was one of my family members from the other side of the veil coming to get me through the night. And all I can say is thank you. Can't wait to see you on the other side. Tina.

• 26:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Tina.

• 26:41Corinne Vien?

And then I love that Tina wrote, PS, you can use my name if you like. Everyone already thinks I'm nuts, anyway.

• 26:52Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Tina, we love you, nuts and all. We're nuts.

• 26:55Corinne Vien?

  Love your nuts.

• 26:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Give us your nuts.

• 26:59Corinne Vien?

  Your Christmas nuts.

• 27:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Works. It all works. It all comes together like a little present.

• 27:05Corinne Vien?

  Yes.

• 27:06Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I love that. I also think it's so beautiful because so many paranormal encounters come with like a chill, you know, like spirits usually feel cold or leave a chilly presence around you.

• 27:16Corinne Vien?

It's like the classic, like, oh, it gets 10 degrees colder.

• 27:19Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Right. But this is like so clearly a good guardian or someone loving because their energy is literally wrapping you in a blanket.

• 27:27Corinne Vien?

Right. And it is interesting because they were, the room was colder at first, you know, it's like the spirit enters the telltale sign. It's like the cold, like freezing room.

• 27:37Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 27:37Corinne Vien?

But then it's like they knew that Tina needed to be warmed.

• 27:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 27:41Corinne Vien?

And she was looking for that comfort. And they were somehow once laying down with her, able to project that.

• 27:46Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  That's so sweet.

• 27:47Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 27:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And also, I know that feeling, like going home for the holidays, going through a divorce, and like feeling the loneliness of that is

• 27:57Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 27:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

one of the most painful things. I remember last Christmas, going home for the holidays for the first time in like 11 years of my life without a partner. And like everyone else in my family had a partner and like being there and feeling that loneliness.

• 28:15Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 28:15Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And also like going to Christmas Eve with my, with my extended family who No one addressed the fact that like Nick wasn't there and no one, it was just like an awkward unsaid thing that almost made it feel worse.

• 28:29Corinne Vien?

Yeah. Well, cause I imagine too for them, like it is the holidays or like you're, you're supposed to think of it as being like warm and happy. So you're like, well, I don't want to ruin Sabrina's Christmas by being like.

• 28:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Bringing it up, like, are you okay?

• 28:41Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 28:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  What's going on?

• 28:43Corinne Vien?

  Right.

• 28:43Sabrina Deana-Roga?

But almost by not acknowledging it all feels lonelier.

• 28:47Corinne Vien?

Yeah. And it feels like everyone's like chatting outside of you about it.

• 28:51Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Tiptoeing around you. Yeah.

• 28:53Corinne Vien?

Maybe you need to take it up with your relatives on the other side. Why didn't they come lay in bed with you and warm you on that night?

• 29:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I had no Emmy and then, you know.

• 29:02Corinne Vien?

  Sweet little no.

• 29:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Having little babies around.

• 29:05Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 29:05Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  That was my warmth.

• 29:06Corinne Vien?

You're about to have another baby.

• 29:08Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I know. Not me personally, my sister, which is basically mine. And the baby's coming.

• 29:16Sabrina Deana-Roga?

People are gonna totally do that out of context.

• 29:19Corinne Vien?

  Yeah. We should like create.

• 29:20Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Create a social media.

• 29:21Corinne Vien?

A social media clip where we don't say the other part.

• 29:25Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Surprise.

• 29:26Corinne Vien?

  Surprise.

• 29:27Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I'm having a baby.

• 29:30Corinne Vien?

  Clip.

• 29:33Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Okay. You're gonna like this one because it's from Guilford, New Hampshire.

• 29:37Corinne Vien?

  I was born there.

• 29:39Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I know.

• 29:39Corinne Vien?

  My home.

• 29:40Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Your home. Okay. So this is from our listener.

• 29:42Corinne Vien?

  One of us shocky.

• 29:44Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Olivia and her bunny, her rabbit Shadow, who listens to our podcast.

• 29:50Corinne Vien?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 29:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And it's called Unbothered Dad in a Wicked Haunted House.

• 29:54Corinne Vien?

  Okay.

• 29:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Hi ladies. I recently found your podcast and I love it so much as a fellow New Englander from Guilford, New Hampshire.

• 30:00Corinne Vien?

  Ayo.

• 30:01Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I wanted to write to you about my dad's haunted house. My dad is a pretty practical guy and I wouldn't have thought he believed in ghosts or anything of an other worldly nature. In true dad nature, he likes to tell me earth shattering information about his life in very casual passing comments.

• 30:18Corinne Vien?

Yeah. And like spaced out over decades.

• 30:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Like your dad does.

• 30:21Corinne Vien?

  Yeah. Classic dad lore.

• 30:24Sabrina Deana-Roga?

At a coffee shop one day after I was chatting away about something, which I seriously don't know what, he just casually said. I lived in a haunted house once. Obviously, I was shocked. And after some shrugging and pressing for more information, I finally got more details. So he had bought a home in the small town of Horton, Michigan, from a woman who was selling her house after her husband had passed away. She was older and couldn't care for it on her own and had decided to move into a retirement home. When my dad moved in, weird things started happening pretty much straight away. Plates would shatter, doors would open and close, the toilet would flush when no one else was in the house, and so much creeping and temperature shifts.

• 31:08Sabrina Deana-Roga?

My dad couldn't get a working crew to stay in the house for more than a week.

• 31:11Corinne Vien?

  Oh, my God.

• 31:12Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And there were multiple family members who wouldn't even come to the house.

• 31:15Corinne Vien?

That's when you know it's bad. When people who spend their careers going into many different places and homes and experiencing many types of odd and interesting characters are like, I can't even be here.

• 31:26Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 31:27Corinne Vien?

Even without you here, like there's something.

• 31:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Multiple crews.

• 31:29Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 31:29Sabrina Deana-Roga?

It's wild. So this was before my dad had met my mom and he was living by himself. So he knows it wasn't someone playing tricks on him. My dad, though, was completely unbothered by this and never really thought much of it other than being slightly annoyed by his damaged dishes and the thermostat being changed. You know how dads are about the thermostat. One Christmas Eve, random.

• 31:51Corinne Vien?

You loved that. It like made me realize that Brian's becoming that. Because he tells me every other day, he tells me the report of how much energy was used overnight on our heat. And it's constantly tinkering with it. I'm like, it's the progression. Everyone, every man becomes that.

• 32:09Sabrina Deana-Roga?

That's so funny. One Christmas Eve, suddenly and randomly, all of the activity stopped. A few days later, at a New Year's Eve party, someone asked my dad if he had heard the news. The woman who he had bought the house from died in her sleep on Christmas Eve.

• 32:28Corinne Vien?

My dad. This is both horrible to pass away on Christmas Eve and also magical to pass away on Christmas Eve.

• 32:35Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  It is.

• 32:36Corinne Vien?

Like horrible for your family and everyone that you lose and that you don't get to be with your family, like maybe on Christmas Day.

• 32:41Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  But.

• 32:41Corinne Vien?

But also like kind of a magical time to transcend into the spiritual plane.

• 32:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Jesus, this is there ushering you over.

• 32:49Corinne Vien?

  Yeah. What's up, Jesus?

• 32:52Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, if you remember, this woman's husband had passed away, which is why she moved out. All of the haunting stopped the night she passed away. So my dad thinks that the husband was in the house looking for his wife for those few years and was finally able to rest when he found her on the other side.

• 33:10Corinne Vien?

  Gone.

• 33:11Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I find the story really sweet and I think my dad was never really scared because there were no ill intentions from the spirit, just a lonely guy waiting for his true love to join him. Now, my dad and I bond over fun ghost stories and thanks to your podcast, there is no shortage of them. He even bought the ghost bride collector coin you mentioned in episode 135, when you talked about Banff Springs Hotel. I don't even remember.

• 33:33Corinne Vien?

  I don't remember. But, good.

• 33:36Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Actually, maybe I do remember because I think Canada, and I want to do an episode about this, but Canada has like a whole series of stamps that are specifically about haunted things.

• 33:47Corinne Vien?

You have to do that, that's the coolest episode ever.

• 33:49Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, one of them I covered, it was like the Mary Celeste ship is on one of the stamps and then there's like a couple of other places, but I think like, there's like a collector coin of a ghost.

• 33:58Corinne Vien?

Yeah, you should just do like a kind of, yeah, hit of the-

• 34:02Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Quick hits.

• 34:02Corinne Vien?

  Quick hits, stamps, coins, whatever.

• 34:05Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Stamps and coins, collectible items about ghosts. Uh, you're wonderful to listen to and I can't wait to catch up with the rest of the podcast. From Olivia, here is a photo of my rabbit, Shadow. She is an avid listener of the podcast. Here's, here's Shadow, eating some little treats.

• 34:19Corinne Vien?

  Oh my gosh, beautiful photo.

• 34:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I think that's mint. And then Olivia let us know that a lot of people associate the bad luck, black cat superstition with rabbits too, and they're the least to get adopted, so.

• 34:30Corinne Vien?

Black rabbits are good luck, as well as black cats. Man, I find myself more attracted to all of the black animals.

• 34:38Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Me too.

• 34:39Corinne Vien?

Black panther, I'll adopt a black panther.

• 34:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

You won't have a cat, but you'll not show up with a panther.

• 34:46Corinne Vien?

I don't know that I'm allergic to panthers.

• 34:47Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Okay, you should definitely adopt one to find out.

• 34:49Corinne Vien?

  Yeah, I will.

• 34:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

That's a good way to figure it out.

• 34:51Corinne Vien?

I'll bring it in my backpack that expands me in a cemetery.

• 34:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yep, Corinne, her black panther.

• 34:58Corinne Vien?

I'll freak you Friday with a black panther.

• 35:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Okay, that's what I will do when we freak you Friday, I'll get you a panther. So when you get back. You'll have a panther.

• 35:07Corinne Vien?

It's like the hangover where the tiger, I just like flip back in and there's a frigging panther in the corner. Holy shit. Okay, I have a story called Bigfoot's Christmas Spectacular.

• 35:18Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I guess we like Bigfoot stories on Christmas.

• 35:21Corinne Vien?

  Yeah, I guess so.

• 35:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

They come, they go hand in hand.

• 35:23Corinne Vien?

It's my Christmas wish that I am granting for myself every Christmas.

• 35:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I actually would love, I mean, I guess it's kind of like Krampus-ish, but like the idea of Bigfoot coming into your home every Christmas and delivering gifts.

• 35:37Corinne Vien?

  That is really nice.

• 35:38Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Doesn't it sound like a fun tradition?

• 35:41Corinne Vien?

Well, it's just a magical being, I guess. It's the, it's almost interchangeable.

• 35:45Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And you put like giant shoes for Bigfoot and he puts the presents in there.

• 35:50Corinne Vien?

Or your stockings are missing because his feet were chilly. You leave out stockings for him to cover his big ass feet.

• 35:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Well, that's really sweet.

• 35:57Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 35:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

We're like combining a lot of-

• 35:59Corinne Vien?

  Buy a new stocking.

• 36:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Combining a lot of Christmas traditions.

• 36:02Corinne Vien?

Or like he, he leaves behind the stockings of someone else's family.

• 36:06Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 36:06Corinne Vien?

He just keeps like getting a new warm pair.

• 36:09Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 36:09Corinne Vien?

So you wake up and you're like, Timmy, who the fuck is Timmy?

• 36:12Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And they're like really dirty and like smelly.

• 36:13Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 36:14Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Speaking of, um, do you want to tell people where you got our stockings? Because they're out of stock. You can't buy them anymore.

• 36:20Corinne Vien?

No, they're not because my mom was trying to buy them for our family.

• 36:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I know, I was trying to buy them too.

• 36:24Corinne Vien?

  Oh, really?

• 36:24Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 36:25Corinne Vien?

I was quick, I was early. Chris loves Julia. We followed her on Instagram for a long, or I guess her and her husband, her, her brand, their brand.

• 36:33Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 36:33Corinne Vien?

For a long time. They're interior designers and they have a bunch of lines and partnerships with various brands, but they had a Pottery Barn one.

• 36:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  They're so cute.

• 36:43Corinne Vien?

And it's so cute. We got a-

• 36:45Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And the one you picked for me is like so me.

• 36:47Corinne Vien?

I know, I, I wanted it in red, but then I was like, I feel like you would appreciate, it felt very Christmas present, motherly of me because I was like, I would have liked that stocking or the red one.

• 36:59Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Oh.

• 36:59Corinne Vien?

But then I was like, but I think Sabrina really would want it.

• 37:02Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I really love it.

• 37:03Corinne Vien?

I'll give myself just another one and I'll give Sabrina the one that I think she would really want.

• 37:06Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Because you have another one too. Do you have two?

• 37:09Corinne Vien?

  For me?

• 37:09Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 37:10Corinne Vien?

  We'll have-

• 37:11Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Your family one.

• 37:12Corinne Vien?

  Me and Brian and Noah.

• 37:13Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah, so you got, you got like a separate-

• 37:16Corinne Vien?

  One for us, how sweet.

• 37:17Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I got a separate one for us.

• 37:18Corinne Vien?

Yeah, well, those, the other ones I bought last year.

• 37:20Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Oh, yeah. But Pottery Barn does have a lot of other good options too.

• 37:24Corinne Vien?

  Yeah. Okay, Bigfoot, Christmas spectacular.

• 37:27Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Here we are.

• 37:28Corinne Vien?

  Hello again.

• 37:29Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Musical.

• 37:30Corinne Vien?

  The musical.

• 37:31Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Actually, we have to, oh, we have to do this eventually, but someone literally wrote music for our musical and we have the email with like the music.

• 37:40Corinne Vien?

Did we not? I feel like we sang it one time, did we not?

• 37:41Sabrina Deana-Roga?

No, no, like it was when you were on maternity leave and it is spectacular.

• 37:45Corinne Vien?

Oh, maybe this needs to be a Christmas special. Next year, we'll like make costumes and actually do it.

• 37:52Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And act, yeah, do the whole thing.

• 37:54Corinne Vien?

We'll do a production, but it's going to be like the 2007 early YouTube days where we just have like a $20 camera and we put it together ourselves. That's going to be the version of this that we provide you guys with.

• 38:07Sabrina Deana-Roga?

This is, it's from our listener Ken.

• 38:09Corinne Vien?

  Give us like a preview.

• 38:11Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I wrote a couple of songs for you. There's like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight songs. I'll just read the titles. Wee G board, like W E E G E board, Forest Nights, I'm a Believer, I Don't Know, Memory, I Got Two Girls, One Ghost in Me, I Wonder, Oh, I Wonder.

• 38:33Corinne Vien?

I really want to listen to I'm a Believer and I've Got Two Girls, One Ghost in Me.

• 38:37Sabrina Deana-Roga?

We have to get back to the spectacular.

• 38:38Corinne Vien?

All right. Hi again, Ghostess is cursed Adam again. After listening to the Bigfoot three parter, I remembered the story that happened to my mother when she was a wee lass. Not sure why I wrote it like that. Anywho, let me start off as this is not clickbait. This is a Bigfoot story that happened on Christmas.

• 38:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Fist pump.

• 38:57Corinne Vien?

  In Mexico.

• 38:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, we're going to Mexico for Christmas. Pack your bags.

• 39:00Corinne Vien?

Oh, my God. Or so we think. As the one person who saw it face to face and up close passed away in 2000.

• 39:08Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Face to face.

• 39:09Corinne Vien?

Yeah. R I P, Abuelito. Originally, I planned to write this in the style of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas poem, but it's stuck in poetry, so I'm just going to write this normally.

• 39:18Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I tried to do that for an episode. I get it.

• 39:20Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 39:20Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I gave up very quickly. It was like sentence one.

• 39:23Corinne Vien?

Yeah, poetry is tough. Maybe on Christmas, I will write in a poem. Who knows?

• 39:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  You do.

• 39:28Corinne Vien?

Anyways, yeah, just whatever you want. We're not going to hold you to anything.

• 39:31Sabrina Deana-Roga?

No, we can't even hold ourselves to anything.

• 39:33Corinne Vien?

I know. If someone is starting from the beginning, I would love to see how many things we said, let's do that. We're going to do that.

• 39:39Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  And we've never done.

• 39:39Corinne Vien?

And then have a whole list. You literally bought us scrolls for us to write down things and actually keep ourselves accountable. Guess who has not written in the scroll?

• 39:47Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, I kind of knew we would never write in the scroll. I think I just bought it because we said we would do it. So I was like, look, we're following through and then

• 39:53Corinne Vien?

  We did one, yeah.

• 39:54Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah, we did part of it.

• 39:55Corinne Vien?

Look, we bought an eight dollars scroll on hand.

• 39:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  It was like one dollar.

• 39:59Corinne Vien?

  Okay.

• 40:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Also, we've said we were gonna read this story like a hundred times and we're still talking and not reading it. So look at us.

• 40:04Corinne Vien?

Anyways, it's the 1970s, maybe 1973 or 74. So that would make my mom eight or nine years old. As all or majority of Catholics in Mexico know, midnight Christmas mass is a must. For some kids, it's the best as you can stay up late until you reach the church. So my mom, who we will call Mariana, for the sake of the story, her parents and her five siblings are at the church, listening quote unquote to the sermon, AKA gossiping, checking out which cousin got the newest dress, who didn't show up to mass, whispering to each other, trying to be as low as possible so that their dad wouldn't hear. That's what they were doing.

• 40:42Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 40:42Corinne Vien?

Once the sermon ended, Mariana and her family are heading home. And so, you know, this is a walk home as Abuelo, Mariana's dad, rarely drives their only truck unless it's to bigger cities or towns. And this walk takes them about an hour.

• 40:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Oh, my God.

• 40:57Corinne Vien?

That's wild. After midnight mass, they probably get out at 1 a.m. and then they have to walk until 2 a.m. home.

• 41:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Which is like the spookiest time also to walk.

• 41:06Corinne Vien?

As grownups and mom wanting to go down memory lane, we took her path home that she took as a kid. And my God, I don't know how the hell she did that as a kid.

• 41:14Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah, geez.

• 41:15Corinne Vien?

Also, the walk home is under moonlight, candlelight and sparklers as they don't own any flashlights.

• 41:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Maybe it's time to buy some flashlights.

• 41:23Corinne Vien?

Geez. Well, too late now. She already lives like that.

• 41:26Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Geez, that is wild.

• 41:28Corinne Vien?

Mariana and her siblings were talking about mass, mostly gossiping, playing around with the sparklers when Abuelo announced that they should start praying. But we just got out of mass.

• 41:36Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  We spent an hour praying.

• 41:38Corinne Vien?

Yeah. Ernesto, Mariana's older brother, whined. Did you or were you gossiping, Abuelo's student? The kids groaned and they began to pray along with their parents, kicking themselves for getting caught gossiping instead of paying attention. About half an hour into their walk, they reached their uncle's house. They usually have to cut through the property as it's a shortcut, which cuts their walk by an hour, which means their normal walk home without this shortcut would have been two hours.

• 42:05Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah, definitely take that shortcut through your uncle's property.

• 42:07Corinne Vien?

Thank God they know the uncle.

• 42:08Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 42:09Corinne Vien?

You know, like in not just a random person.

• 42:11Sabrina Deana-Roga?

If not, I'd become friends with that person and be like, hey, I'm gonna cut through your property once a year.

• 42:14Corinne Vien?

Yeah, or I'd be like, Dad, you have to take the truck.

• 42:17Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 42:17Corinne Vien?

Or I'd be sick every Christmas, mysteriously, oh, I can't go to Minute Mass, oops. That was my dad, every single Sunday. He was sick.

• 42:27Corinne Vien?

But before they opened the gate to go through, they spotted something against a post, as if it was scratching itself against it near the gate. And under the moonlight, they assumed that this was just a cow, one of her uncle's cows. So Abuelo tried to scare the cow away so that it doesn't escape if they open the gate, even throwing rocks near it to make it move, until this thing turned, stood up on its hind legs. And under the silhouette of the moonlight, Mariana saw that it was very furry and this thing was huge.

• 42:57Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Oh, my God, epiphany. If Bigfoots are aliens, this is why aliens abduct cows, so that Bigfoots can learn how to mimic them in the world.

• 43:08Corinne Vien?

  Oh, interesting.

• 43:10Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Or cows are Bigfoot.

• 43:11Corinne Vien?

Or they're all just like best friends. Or they just think cows are so cute.

• 43:15Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Which is you reading into it because you love cows.

• 43:18Corinne Vien?

Me and Bigfoot are very similar.

• 43:20Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 43:20Corinne Vien?

This is why we would get along.

• 43:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

The seriousness of looking into the camera, we'd get along.

• 43:26Corinne Vien?

Tell them. I've been trying to let them know. This is when they noticed how quiet everything was. No crickets, nothing.

• 43:35Corinne Vien?

What is that? Celeste, Mariana's older sister, whispered. Take the kids to the fence, Abuelo told Abuela. Abuela rounded up the kids and they ran farther up to the barbed wire fence to a weak spot, pulling it aside to get the kids through, jumping across as Abuelo tried to make a lot of noise, trying to distract this thing until Celeste screamed, there's another one!

• 43:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  There are two?

• 43:56Corinne Vien?

Two Bigfoots on Christmas. Well, Mariana was getting scared as she spotted it just a few feet away, shorter than the other one, but was blocking their path. And also, this was as furry as the other one. It just stood there as if it was watching them. And then Abuela showed up throwing rocks at it, yelling at Mariana and the others to run. And they all ran like hell home as their dad fought off these creatures, making sure that his family ran home first. And after running for a long time, they get into their house. They looked back, hoping to see their dad behind them, but he did not show.

• 44:26Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  What?

• 44:27Corinne Vien?

The family was getting anxious as time passed and their dad still did not show up. After some time, Abuela basically ordered her children to go to bed. And so as to not anger their mom, they obeyed. They go to their rooms, but none of them slept that night. Some of them spotted Abuela pacing around the house, hoping to see Abuela enter the house. By dawn, Abuela finally showed up. He was tired. He was still rattled, but he hurried into the storage room. Abuela ran after him, asking him a million questions. And from what my mom found out, Abuela grabbed a rifle and told Abuela that he and the uncle were gonna go hunt that thing down.

• 44:59Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Well, what happened for those hours that he was missing?

• 45:01Corinne Vien?

I don't know. Maybe he went into the uncle's house or something.

• 45:04Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Or he was running for his life in the woods.

• 45:06Corinne Vien?

The creatures actually tore down the fence, causing some of the cows to escape. They spent Christmas morning rounding up all of the escaped cows and hunting these two creatures. But of course, they never found them. To this day, mom would say it's a bear, as that is what Abuela told them. And on his deathbed, he told them.

• 45:25Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  On his deathbed?

• 45:27Corinne Vien?

He told them, "This was a bear. Don't ask me about it ever again."

• 45:34Corinne Vien?

Mom said he looked terrified every time anyone brought it up. So for her, it's a bear. So that's Bigfoot's Christmas spectacular. Was planning to write it in on Christmas, but I thought now is fine. You can read it at Christmas if you like, or now, who cares? See you on the other side, here or there, cursed Adam.

• 45:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

The Christmas spooktacular. I mean, to be fair, it seems like. Adam's family happened upon these Bigfoot and the Bigfoot weren't like doing anything to harm them.

• 46:04Corinne Vien?

  Mm hmm.

• 46:05Sabrina Deana-Roga?

They were letting the cows free, which makes-

• 46:07Corinne Vien?

Yeah, they were like, oh, my gosh, these people are coming after us. And what if they come after our precious little cute cows? We gotta let set them free too. Rip the fence, quick.

• 46:15Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Right.

• 46:15Corinne Vien?

They were also running and panicking.

• 46:17Sabrina Deana-Roga?

It's like when you have to dissect a frog in like high school-

• 46:21Corinne Vien?

  AP Bio or whatever.

• 46:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Let the frogs go.

• 46:24Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 46:24Sabrina Deana-Roga?

They know what's gonna happen to those cows.

• 46:26Corinne Vien?

The frogs are not already dead when they give them to you.

• 46:28Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I know, that's actually a good point.

• 46:30Corinne Vien?

Yeah, you don't have to, they don't make you kill the frog and then dissect it.

• 46:33Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. Why is that such a stereotype, though?

• 46:35Corinne Vien?

I don't know, my, my high school didn't do-

• 46:38Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  We did pigs.

• 46:39Corinne Vien?

  Frogs.

• 46:39Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  We did cats.

• 46:40Corinne Vien?

Oh! Yeah, I would never do that. I didn't do it, I didn't. That was second semester and I only did the first semester of AP Bio and then I graduated high school early, which is weird. Why did I do that?

• 46:50Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Because you wanted to be an actress.

• 46:52Corinne Vien?

I want to be a star. I'm kind of like on a three year span. I get over things in three years. Four years is really tough. I have to shorten everything.

• 46:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

You stuck it out with me for seven, so thank you.

• 47:01Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 47:02Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Okay, I have a really sweet story to wrap us up and conclude this Christmas spooktacular. This is called The Christmas Ghost from our listener, Bridget. Hi, Ghostesses, my name is Bridget. We bought our first house this past summer and our home is me, my husband and my son, who's 19 months, and our kitty cat, Gomer. And this was sent to us yesterday.

• 47:21Corinne Vien?

Oh, my gosh, wow, perfectly timed.

• 47:23Sabrina Deana-Roga?

I started listening to your podcast when I was pregnant and I hoped that he would be a creepy kid, but he wasn't, until now.

• 47:31Corinne Vien?

I was gonna say, you never know.

• 47:33Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Last night, I was doing our dishes and our Christmas tree is in the kitchen, but it's not decorated yet because, well, life. So my son was watching TV and my husband and cat were outside. When out of the corner of my eye, I saw a shadow multiple times and I saw it decorating the tree. And then my son walked in and said, hi. This morning, I heard him just stirring and babbling in his bed and I heard someone say, oh.

• 47:58Corinne Vien?

  Oh, hi.

• 48:00Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And it was not my son. I also looked at the monitor as soon as I heard it and my son was laying on his back, looking across the room waving. I went in there and the room felt so warm and comforting, like a big hug.

• 48:12Corinne Vien?

Oh, my gosh. Wait, this is so nice. I feel like this was a perfect way to, this almost feels like a package. Like you started with a story similar to this.

• 48:20Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Mm hmm.

• 48:21Corinne Vien?

  We're ending with a story.

• 48:22Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah. It's all. The loved ones coming.

• 48:24Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 48:25Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Around.

• 48:25Corinne Vien?

  Warming everyone together. Oh.

• 48:27Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Happy holidays. I'll see you on the other side, Bridget.

• 48:30Corinne Vien?

  That's so sweet.

• 48:31Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Again, the warm hug.

• 48:32Corinne Vien?

  Hi, the warm hug.

• 48:34Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 48:34Corinne Vien?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 48:35Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Which was your story, by the way.

• 48:36Corinne Vien?

  Oh.

• 48:40Corinne Vien?

Someone needs to hug my brain, I think. But that is so nice. That's so special.

• 48:46Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 48:46Corinne Vien?

And obviously he's receptive to it. Like he's, he's enjoying whoever he's seeing.

• 48:51Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Right. And whoever's seeing him is like ogling the baby, you know?

• 48:54Corinne Vien?

  Yes.

• 48:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Oh, my baby.

• 48:56Corinne Vien?

  Hello.

• 48:57Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 48:57Corinne Vien?

Actually, this is triggering a memory and I meant to tell you this before. The baby monitor that I use for Noah.

• 49:03Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Mm hmm.

• 49:04Corinne Vien?

I like see things on it. And at first I was like, this has got to be dust. But I watch the monitor all the time and the only time I see little like orbs and they don't, like sometimes they move zigzag, sometimes they're straight like it. There's kind of no rhyme or reason, which I'm like, oh, there's wind or something in the, the room.

• 49:21Sabrina Deana-Roga?

The wind, that wind tunnel that happens.

• 49:23Corinne Vien?

  Various ways or whatever.

• 49:25Sabrina Deana-Roga?

But it's because the heat was on really high and using so much energy.

• 49:29Corinne Vien?

  You never know.

• 49:30Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Yeah.

• 49:30Corinne Vien?

But at first I was like, oh, this is for sure. Like just dust or whatever. But then I started noticing a pattern that I only ever see it when he is like waking up and starting to fuss and become frustrated. It never happens when he's just soundly sleeping and I'm watching the monitor. I never see anything go across. I should, but I'm not gonna show it here.

• 49:48Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Show it to me.

• 49:48Corinne Vien?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Next time I notice that I'll like timestamp it and go back and try to record it.

• 49:54Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  I want to see it.

• 49:55Corinne Vien?

  Hmm.

• 49:55Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Hmm.

• 49:56Corinne Vien?

  Interesting.

• 49:56Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  Well, that's positive.

• 49:58Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 49:58Sabrina Deana-Roga?

And this episode was primarily positive for the most part.

• 50:02Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 50:02Sabrina Deana-Roga?

We had a little spooks, but thank you all for listening and thank you for being here with us this year. We can't wait to see you in 2025, which is the weirdest thing ever. And we have one more episode this year, which is going to be on Patreon. It is our mental health check in.

• 50:19Corinne Vien?

  Yeah.

• 50:19Sabrina Deana-Roga?

  How we doing?

• 50:21Corinne Vien?

How's you? Well, because it's like, it's gonna be depressing, kind of.

• 50:27Sabrina Deana-Roga?

Yeah, but it's also, I think, just, well, we'll see. It'll just be a check in.

• 50:32Corinne Vien?
