Support for the show comes from Jira by Atlassian. AI is only as useful as the context it has to work from, but when that context is scattered across tools, threads, and DMs, that means your team and your AI agents end up flying blind. That's the problem that Jira solves. What's the goal tied to your project? What got decided last week in Slack? Atlassian's teamwork graph pulls all these pieces together, from Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more, so nothing falls through the cracks. With Jira, you can actually share that context with the AI agents you already use, like Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, assign them work directly, or connect your agents through MCP. Spend less time digging through endless links and DMs, less time chasing down what got decided and by who,

• 1:15Speaker 01

and more time actually shipping. Learn more at jira.com. That's J-I-R-A dot com. I tweeted just a screenshot of the Google slide that just said, "Book two floor seats to this concert." And then in the video, the person just clicks it, and then that's the end of the interaction. And they're like, "Yep, got the tickets." What? No, that's not how this works.

• 1:42Speaker 01

Yeah, what is up, people of the internet? Welcome back to another episode of the Waveform Podcast. We're your hosts. I'm Marquez.

• 1:47Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm Adam.

• 1:48Speaker 02

  I'm Mariah.

• 1:50Speaker 01

Right. Got a new setup today. This is, you know how when there's like a new, sorry, it's an NBA podcast already, you have like a new lineup that's not played in the playoffs? Like, for the first time, the Sixers probably did this. You have a lineup of like, a group of people who have never played at the same time together? This is like the current arrangement.

• 2:06Speaker 02

Yeah, I'm supposed to be on the bench, but for some reason, they put me over here.

• 2:08Speaker 01

Well, you've been, I think- I think it's been, you've been there, Mariah was here, no, David was here, you were there.

• 2:14Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:15Speaker 01

  So it's like a shuffle.

• 2:16Speaker 03

Yeah. Listen, we're down by 30. It's the fourth quarter. We gotta try anything.

• 2:19Speaker 02

  We're trying.

• 2:20Speaker 01

It's a Tuesday. It's great. Uh, today we watched the Android show, so we've got all sorts of thoughts on all of what they've announced. We also can talk a little bit about the death slash rebirth of Fitbit, cause that happened.

• 2:31Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 2:32Speaker 01

And also we have a game that, uh, I have no idea what we're actually doing.

• 2:35Speaker 03

  Me neither.

• 2:36Speaker 01

  But there are buzzers here.

• 2:37Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:38Speaker 01

So it surely will be fun.

• 2:39Speaker 03

I asked Ellis yesterday, like, hey, how's, how's the game coming along? Do you need me to like prep anything? And he's like, don't worry about it.

• 2:44Speaker 01

That makes me a little bit nervous, excited but nervous. It's good.

• 2:48Speaker 03

  Exactly.

• 2:49Speaker 01

Uh, but first, did they even test this?

• 2:53Speaker 03

  This is a-

• 2:53Speaker 01

  I hear Ellis has one.

• 2:54Speaker 03

Yeah, Ellis special today. Well, now I'm like scared to do, did they even test this? Because the last time I did it, I was the one that did not test it and was proven wrong. But I have recently switched back from Apple Watch to Garmin as my fitness tracker of choice.

• 3:10Speaker 01

  So you're on Android now?

• 3:14Speaker 02

  Hey, hey.

• 3:15Speaker 03

  Oh boy.

• 3:17Speaker 03

I don't know, after the Android show today.

• 3:18Speaker 01

  Yeah, buddy.

• 3:20Speaker 03

I've, so I've been trying to link it with my Strava and, uh, which has just proved to be like a death-defying nightmare.

• 3:27Speaker 01

It's been a mess for so long.

• 3:28Speaker 03

And it just results in this thing where this like endless loop where I go into the Garmin app and try, or I go into Strava, the Strava app.

• 3:36Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 3:36Speaker 03

I have to be really specific here. Go into the Strava app, hit connect device, choose Garmin. It opens the Garmin app. The Garmin app is then like, okay, let's now connect your Strava and Garmin accounts. I'm like, bet. Then it goes to strava.com where it makes me sign in for some reason. So I sign into my Strava account on strava.com. And then it goes, great, we're in. Now we need to go back to the Garmin app. And then I go back to the Garmin app and the Garmin app goes, it failed.

• 4:06Speaker 02

  So did you get in?

• 4:08Speaker 03

No, I've done this about 50 times, like hoping that it goes differently.

• 4:11Speaker 01

  You're still not in?

• 4:12Speaker 03

  No.

• 4:13Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 4:14Speaker 03

  So-

• 4:15Speaker 01

They were supposed to have fixed this like a few years ago. They did like a whole announcement post about it. Yeah, like literally like two or three years ago. They were like,

• 4:21Speaker 03

  Oh no.

• 4:22Speaker 01

We're now connected with Strava. You no longer have to worry about this, but I guess, I guess it's still an issue.

• 4:26Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 4:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:27Speaker 02

  Damn, that blows for you.

• 4:28Speaker 01

  Nobody tested it.

• 4:29Speaker 03

There is one other thing that blows for me.

• 4:31Speaker 02

  No.

• 4:31Speaker 01

  Oh no.

• 4:32Speaker 02

  No.

• 4:33Speaker 01

  He's wearing a shirt already.

• 4:36Speaker 03

  Guys, after several weeks

• 4:39Speaker 01

  Funeral.

• 4:40Speaker 03

of hopeful bliss, I would say, the Philadelphia 76ers have been knocked out of the NBA playoffs. After an amazing first round, they were swept in four games by the New York Knickerbockers. You could be sad, or you could choose to revel in what an amazing year we had. We watched Vijay drop 30 over and over again as a rookie. We watched Andre Drummond to learn how to shoot three pointers. We watched Kyle Lowry say goodbye to the NBA, I think.

• 5:14Speaker 01

  Damn.

• 5:14Speaker 04

  Maybe.

• 5:15Speaker 03

We watched Nick Nurse develop complex systems, and most of all, we watched the greatest hero in American history, Joel Embiid,

• 5:21Speaker 04

  Lose it.

• 5:22Speaker 03

overcome countless obstacles and ascend to basketball greatness. Philadelphia 76ers, I love you.

• 5:31Speaker 04

How did you time that so perfectly? Did you practice this?

• 5:34Speaker 03

No. Also, for all of our Scandinavian slash Nordic audience members who are confused why I used a Christmas hymn for that, I just liked the way it sounded, and they don't know anything about that stuff, so.

• 5:47Speaker 04

Nice. Wow. I don't know where to go from here.

• 5:51Speaker 01

I'm trying to make a broom pun to move to the next thing. I don't know if I can think of one.

• 5:54Speaker 04

You know who else swept the stage?

• 5:57Speaker 01

  Ah.

• 5:57Speaker 04

  Ah. Samir.

• 6:00Speaker 01

Samir from Google. Okay, so the Android show, the pre-Io Android show is this week, and we talked a little bit about it before, how they were sort of hyping up. Samir is one of the ones on Twitter who was like, this is going to be one of the, I think they said, the biggest update to Android yet.

• 6:16Speaker 04

  Asterisk.

• 6:17Speaker 01

It's a lot. It's a lot of hype, a lot of promises, but we finally did get that promise, and they gave us this wonderful 45-minute video of very human presentation and a ton of new features through Android, Android Auto, through Gemini Intelligence, and through some [BLEEP]. So we'll talk about all of that.

• 6:35Speaker 04

Yeah, we gotta censor you saying [BLEEP] though.

• 6:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 6:38Speaker 04

  Bleep that out.

• 6:39Speaker 01

  Why?

• 6:39Speaker 04

Because that's what they did during the event.

• 6:41Speaker 01

  They bleeped out Google Books?

• 6:42Speaker 04

Right at the beginning, he tried to leak Google Books, and he said it, and then he bleeped it, and he was like, we can fix it in post, right? And it was like one of those like, haha, I'm a person too.

• 6:50Speaker 01

  So quirky.

• 6:51Speaker 04

  I make mistakes.

• 6:52Speaker 01

So human, Google. Yeah, that was great. Anyway, so, let's talk about Android first, maybe?

• 6:59Speaker 04

  Sure.

• 6:59Speaker 01

Because that was, so we're looking forward to Android updates. Android 17 is what the new version is going to be called. They did the thing, first of all, that they do every time where they're like, all this stuff is coming first to Pixels and Samsung Galaxy S.

• 7:12Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 7:12Speaker 01

So some of us in here are very happy about that. They they tend to do that. They tend to put Samsung right at the forefront of a lot of the software stuff. Cool.

• 7:20Speaker 04

How do you feel about that as a OnePlus boy now?

• 7:22Speaker 01

I'm a OnePlus 15 user. I do have a mention of that later in this. But yeah, it's fine. You know, we'll get that stuff eventually at some point.

• 7:31Speaker 04

  At some point.

• 7:31Speaker 01

Yeah. So here's a couple of things that we got. We got some slightly updated aesthetics. We got a lot of the Gemini stuff is what's updated aesthetically. So a little new animation. It's a little bit glassy, but not really when you're talking to it and when it's thinking, then when it's executing.

• 7:47Speaker 04

Yeah, that had me nervous for a second. I thought they were doing a whole redesign. It seems to be just for Gemini, right?

• 7:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:52Speaker 04

That's like whenever you long press the button and Gemini pops up or you're doing something with Gemini, that's what the redesign is.

• 7:57Speaker 01

Yeah. And spoiler, a lot of what's new with Android is Gemini related. And that's why they're calling it the biggest update yet because AI big, AI very important to Google. Some of the stuff that was interesting, screen reactions, I thought was a cool feature. So you know how you see one of those Instagram or TikTok reel videos where it's just a person in front of whatever they're talking about? That's like a mode built into the camera now. You can just do that. It's great.

• 8:23Speaker 04

  Unfortunately.

• 8:24Speaker 01

  Built into Android.

• 8:25Speaker 04

Yeah, I think this is gonna slap.

• 8:26Speaker 01

It's gonna just make that format so much easier for so many people.

• 8:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 8:30Speaker 01

  It's great.

• 8:30Speaker 04

Listen, do you guys follow Cardi B on Instagram?

• 8:33Speaker 01

  Cardi B?

• 8:33Speaker 02

  I don't think so, actually.

• 8:34Speaker 04

Okay, well, she has these like weekly rants where she's just talking to the camera on Instagram and just going off about whatever's going on in her life. Just loves this. It's very entertaining. She is gonna use the hell out of this, assuming she ever leaves iPhone, which she probably won't.

• 8:49Speaker 01

Yeah, she gonna have an Android phone?

• 8:50Speaker 04

Yeah, people that do that kind of like content, this is gonna be insane.

• 8:55Speaker 02

Like Paris Hilton's gonna be making videos with this for sure.

• 8:58Speaker 01

  Surely.

• 8:58Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 8:58Speaker 01

  Surely.

• 8:59Speaker 04

With Paris Hilton was on the stream.

• 9:01Speaker 01

Yeah. Um, there's also some more plugs with things like Instagram. So some of this has existed already in the past, but some more native integration with using the camera built into Instagram. You can have HDR content supported. You can have all of the processing supported, uh, which is nice.

• 9:19Speaker 04

I remember they did this a few years ago with Snapchat, I think it was, where they like implemented the Google camera directly into Snapchat so that it wouldn't be such like

• 9:26Speaker 01

  It had a name.

• 9:27Speaker 04

  Quality.

• 9:27Speaker 02

Yes, I do remember this happening.

• 9:29Speaker 01

Yeah, they had a name and everything and they, and they were very proud of it. And it was just a pixel and now they're doing more of it. So.

• 9:34Speaker 04

  Also Samsung.

• 9:35Speaker 01

And Samsung as well. So great. That's coming to the forefront. Um, there is a feature called Pause Point.

• 9:43Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 9:43Speaker 01

It's an interesting implementation. What you've probably already seen on the iPhone is screen time, where you can specifically decide to limit the number of minutes, let's say in a day, that you can spend on a certain app.

• 9:55Speaker 04

I mean, Google has this too, though.

• 9:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 9:56Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 9:57Speaker 04

  The, what is it called?

• 9:58Speaker 02

  It's digital wellbeing.

• 9:58Speaker 04

  Thank you. Yes, digital wellbeing.

• 10:00Speaker 01

When you get to the end of that timer, it kicks you out the app. You can't open it anymore, or unless you decide to bypass it, whatever. This is a new version of that that is a little bit more of a 50/50 split. It's, you open the app that you want to have restrictions on.

• 10:15Speaker 04

And then it shames you into closing the app.

• 10:16Speaker 01

Once you're in it, it pops up this pause screen and it, it tells you like, just remember why you're here. Remember what you meant to do when you opened your phone. And I think some of the examples were like, you can scroll through pictures of your pet or something while you remember.

• 10:31Speaker 02

There was like a cooldown timer first.

• 10:33Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 10:33Speaker 04

And then. 20 seconds or something.

• 10:35Speaker 02

I don't know if after that, then it shows you pictures of your loved ones.

• 10:38Speaker 01

Yeah. So like, think of who you're disappointing here as you doom scroll.

• 10:42Speaker 04

The one that was like, have you, have you thought about your goals?

• 10:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:46Speaker 04

Like, I know you're about to open Subway servers, but have you thought about grinding right now instead?

• 10:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:52Speaker 04

Don't you want to be a productive person?

• 10:53Speaker 01

It is a different take on limiting your screen time. Uh,

• 10:59Speaker 01

I don't know. I'm not gonna use that either.

• 11:02Speaker 04

I like it. I know that you're very anti these.

• 11:05Speaker 01

I guess if I was someone who was already trying to rely on screen time, I would find this maybe refreshing, or at least interesting and different, I'd try it.

• 11:12Speaker 02

  I'll report back.

• 11:15Speaker 02

The digital wellbeing restrictions literally do nothing for me.

• 11:18Speaker 04

  Same.

• 11:18Speaker 02

I think they mentioned something about it also restarting your phone to like disable it or something. So like another thing to have to bypass it. It makes it harder.

• 11:27Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 11:27Speaker 02

  Um, I don't think.

• 11:29Speaker 04

  It's like hard.

• 11:29Speaker 02

This will stop me. I'm not gonna lie.

• 11:31Speaker 03

I thought if I was a Google lawyer, that whole section would have made me sweat bullets. Because like, because like six weeks ago, Google lost a ginormous court case that they can be found liable for making addicting products. They got sued because of YouTube's algorithm being too addicting.

• 11:49Speaker 01

Ellis, you think that the different parts of Google talk to each other?

• 11:52Speaker 03

As soon as like a Google employee was like, do you ever feel like you're using your phone without thinking about it? Or like you unconsciously pull out your phone? I was like, that's kind of you admitting it's a little addictive.

• 12:02Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 12:02Speaker 02

But it's fine, because now we can watch YouTube in the car while we.

• 12:06Speaker 04

Listen, the product people make things, the lawyers lawyer it out. That's their problem. Product people are like, I'm just gonna make this.

• 12:12Speaker 01

I feel like there's a couple of apps that are really associated with opening it and then mindlessly scrolling and then forgetting how much time you spent. And those are Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.

• 12:23Speaker 04

  Yeah, you're so right.

• 12:24Speaker 01

And now you can do less of that. Or you could just uninstall it.

• 12:28Speaker 02

Or just bypass all of it.

• 12:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:30Speaker 03

The whole thing of this product is like you have this impulse to open your phone. And they want to make you wait like 10, 15 seconds to just like see if that's actually what you want to do, right? Do you know the other thing in American society that employs that tactic? Firearms sales. In like a lot of states, if you want to buy a gun, they make you wait like three to 10 days to be like, are you sure you actually need a gun?

• 12:52Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 12:52Speaker 01

  Cool down period.

• 12:53Speaker 03

I was like, that is a weird thing to use the gun strat for.

• 12:57Speaker 01

I guess it's an impulse buy for maybe the wrong reasons.

• 13:01Speaker 03

  Exactly.

• 13:02Speaker 02

I think we should have that for microtransactions. We should have a little cooldown timer.

• 13:06Speaker 03

Yeah, I wonder, can you put this per, you have to be able to put this per app, right?

• 13:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 13:10Speaker 03

So I can like set this on, I don't know, like my text messages or something.

• 13:14Speaker 02

Why would you want to put it on?

• 13:15Speaker 03

Not that I would want to, but you could in theory.

• 13:17Speaker 01

To make sure you don't text instantly.

• 13:19Speaker 02

Yeah. Mom texts you, you're like, I can't, I can't right now. And then a picture of her like comes on the screen.

• 13:26Speaker 04

No, I actually like this feature because I, like you, Mariah, I've tried these digital wellbeing, like timer block things, and it just doesn't work. Like, I can very easily just unlock it, put my fingerprint, whatever. Giving me that little slight pause to be like, are you sure? I think that's gonna work. Because I'm gonna be like, no, you know what? You're right. I don't wanna do this. It's fine. Like, I have that tick, and this will stop me from doing that tick.

• 13:49Speaker 02

I feel like everyone has the moment where they're on their phone, and they're like, they snap out of it. They're like, I, why am I here?

• 13:56Speaker 04

  What day is it?

• 13:58Speaker 02

Where, and what am I doing?

• 13:59Speaker 01

I think that's valid, because people, they get to that point, and it's been like 10 minutes, and they don't realize what they were just doing.

• 14:04Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 14:04Speaker 01

Because I also think there's a lot of people who have the screen time thing set, but the muscle memory is just to open it and immediately bypass it.

• 14:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 14:12Speaker 01

And so you're in, anyway, now. So this will interrupt you before you get to that point of 10 minutes later, being like, why is it dark outside? So, it's different.

• 14:23Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 14:24Speaker 01

  It's different.

• 14:24Speaker 04

What do you, what app are you putting this on?

• 14:26Speaker 01

  Me, personally?

• 14:27Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 14:27Speaker 01

Oh, I have just this whole thing called, like, discipline. Where I just don't.

• 14:31Speaker 04

You have an internal timer that once it hits five minutes, you close the app?

• 14:34Speaker 01

Well, if I have something to do, I do that. I just, maybe it's just me. But if I've pulled out my phone to do a task, I'm pretty focused on, like, getting to do that task. And then, maybe I'll doom scroll, but...

• 14:45Speaker 04

But how long are you doom scrolling for? Like, you don't fall down a rabbit hole and just wake up 20 minutes later?

• 14:50Speaker 01

  Uh, of course I do.

• 14:52Speaker 04

You're just chilling on the couch.

• 14:53Speaker 01

It's not gotten to the point where it's like, boy, do I need a feature to show me pictures of my pets or something.

• 15:02Speaker 04

  You mean our pets?

• 15:03Speaker 01

Yeah, so I, I don't know. Maybe I'll get there.

• 15:06Speaker 03

I'm like halfway between you guys. Like, I never doom scroll for more than like 45 seconds, but when I'm having a bad no-discipline day, it is sort of like, I do 45-second doom scrolls once every like six minutes.

• 15:17Speaker 04

  Yeah. So

• 15:19Speaker 02

It's okay, we're built different and you know, that's fine.

• 15:22Speaker 04

See with me, I'm like one or the other. I can either scroll for like 45 seconds and be like, yeah, I'm done. Or some days I will get on the couch and I'm like, I'm not doing nothing tonight, but scrolling. Like that's it. My next two hours are gonna be down this TikTok rabbit hole.

• 15:37Speaker 01

If it, I wonder how long it takes to interrupt you. If it sees you scroll for like, whatever, let's say you're in that app for like 30 seconds.

• 15:43Speaker 04

You could probably set it, right?

• 15:45Speaker 01

Pro, yeah, it didn't show the UI, but maybe it'll let you set the time.

• 15:48Speaker 02

This reminds me, isn't there a thing on the iPhone, sorry, this is a tangent, that tells you you're holding the phone too close to your eyes?

• 15:54Speaker 01

That was another one. I've never had that.

• 15:56Speaker 02

  Turned on?

• 15:56Speaker 01

  No.

• 15:57Speaker 04

  What?

• 15:57Speaker 02

I think Marlena tried that once and I, I don't know how I feel.

• 16:02Speaker 01

  It's supposed to

• 16:03Speaker 04

  Too close backup.

• 16:04Speaker 01

It's supposed to protect you and probably a lot of younger people who are just like this.

• 16:07Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:08Speaker 01

Who are holding it right up to their face. And maybe if you do that too much, that's bad for your eyes. So just sort of

• 16:12Speaker 04

  I could use that feature.

• 16:13Speaker 01

Warning you to not do that so much.

• 16:14Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 16:15Speaker 01

I think the one other big feature here in Android is airdrop support coming to way more devices. So airdrop and Android are now compatible essentially, at least, well, in both directions, I think. And it is out the gates now for S26 series, Pixel 10s, Pixel 9s, Pixel 8A, Apple Find X9 series and Find N6, Vivo X300 Ultra, and coming soon to a bunch of others, including my OnePlus 15.

• 16:41Speaker 04

How long do you think that is?

• 16:42Speaker 01

I have no idea. I'm not holding, I'm not crossing my fingers. I, I literally use Blip for that now. I'm not like reliant on it, but it is neat that that is one of the things, breaking down the ecosystem wall.

• 16:53Speaker 02

It's weird. I don't see the Pixel 6 on this list.

• 16:56Speaker 01

Yeah. We're gonna get to older phones.

• 16:58Speaker 04

Oh yeah, all the way back to 8A. That's the like oldest one.

• 17:01Speaker 01

  It's not bad.

• 17:01Speaker 04

I wonder why. It can't be like a hardware limitation.

• 17:05Speaker 01

I don't know. You know, it's funny when we did that, like shooting every single iPhone photo from every generation from 17 to 1.

• 17:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 17:13Speaker 01

Getting the photos off of the iPhone was really easy from the iPhone 17 down all the way to a certain phone where airdrop was no longer a feature. Which phone, this is random trivia question, which phone do you think was the first one that I couldn't just airdrop it to myself?

• 17:32Speaker 04

  iPhone 7.

• 17:35Speaker 02

  I wanna say.

• 17:38Speaker 02

  I'm just gonna say eight.

• 17:39Speaker 04

  Eight?

• 17:41Speaker 01

I don't actually remember exactly which one. But it was like the 4S. It was like really far.

• 17:46Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 17:47Speaker 01

It got really far and Andrew had to go from like plugging it into the computer.

• 17:49Speaker 04

  That's crazy.

• 17:50Speaker 02

Have you ever had to root around in like the iPhone folders on like a PC before?

• 17:55Speaker 01

That's what we had to do for the first.

• 17:56Speaker 02

  It's terrible.

• 17:57Speaker 01

It was really, it was really tough.

• 17:58Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:59Speaker 01

Rough. So, okay, how many people here use Android Auto? That was the other big update.

• 18:04Speaker 04

  I do.

• 18:05Speaker 02

  Every day.

• 18:06Speaker 01

Pretty big deal. Android Auto got a really big update, probably bigger than the rest of the updates to Android itself.

• 18:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 18:11Speaker 01

The aesthetics, the visual updates, so it's got this lane guidance now. It has this 3D view with way more detailed topography and mapping stuff, overpasses, bridges.

• 18:22Speaker 04

It looks more like if you took Apple Maps and like Tesla Maps and make them have a baby.

• 18:26Speaker 01

Yeah, like Apple Maps had a lot of this unique, not cartoony, but sort of like 3D look to it. And now this has a lot of that too. It's funny, it feels like it was inspired by some of those like social media posts that are like putting Apple Maps and Google Maps side by side. So now it's got, it's got all of that. And it also has way more features like the ability to watch full screen 60 FPS videos in whatever screen is in your car that has Android Auto on it.

• 18:49Speaker 04

  I hate this.

• 18:50Speaker 01

But I think that's only when you're parked and probably specifically for electric cars, like when you're charging.

• 18:55Speaker 04

I really hope so because otherwise it makes no sense.

• 18:58Speaker 02

  I'm gonna test this immediately.

• 19:00Speaker 01

  It's a good idea.

• 19:01Speaker 02

  I'm gonna find out.

• 19:02Speaker 04

Do you have an electric car? No.

• 19:03Speaker 02

No, but like I have Android Auto in my car.

• 19:05Speaker 04

So you're just gonna like park it and sit there and watch a YouTube video?

• 19:07Speaker 02

I wanna see if it even knows if I'm in park. It probably does.

• 19:11Speaker 01

Wait, yeah, well, it has GPS, so it'll know if you're moving or not.

• 19:15Speaker 04

Yeah, but you could fool that.

• 19:16Speaker 02

It's smart enough to at least, it turns down my media when I'm in reverse, so it probably knows if I'm in park or not.

• 19:21Speaker 01

So it did have a UI thing where when you switch into drive, it moves that video off screen and continues playing the audio in the background.

• 19:28Speaker 04

  That was cool.

• 19:28Speaker 01

That was cool. That's the thing I have the most questions about because one, if it's Android Auto, not like built into the car, how does it know you switched into drive?

• 19:36Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 19:37Speaker 01

Like your, your phone doesn't know that your car switched into drive.

• 19:39Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 19:40Speaker 01

You didn't start driving it. Two, I thought background audio play was a YouTube premium feature. If it's, if it's on a non-premium account, does it just pause?

• 19:49Speaker 02

  That's a good question.

• 19:50Speaker 01

  Not sure what happens.

• 19:50Speaker 04

I think the YouTube premium play was only. When you like lock the screen and the screen turns off.

• 19:57Speaker 01

Yeah. So if I'm watching a video on my screen, turn the screen off, the video pauses.

• 20:00Speaker 04

But it's playing on the car screen, which never turns off.

• 20:04Speaker 01

But it does hide the video.

• 20:06Speaker 04

Yeah, it hides it over in like a UI thing, but you know.

• 20:09Speaker 01

In the, in the phone world, that's kind of the equivalent of like turning the screen off.

• 20:14Speaker 04

  That's weird.

• 20:15Speaker 01

I'm not really sure how that works yet. We gotta test that.

• 20:16Speaker 04

Didn't they say it was with like certain partners? Maybe that's how it knows that the car is in park and stuff.

• 20:22Speaker 02

Yeah, it was, I think there was like 16 different brands.

• 20:24Speaker 04

  Yeah, something like that.

• 20:25Speaker 01

We'll have to see. Yeah. But I, I am curious to see how effective that is. Um, but yeah, immersive navigation with redesigned visuals and yeah. Widgets. In the car, you can do zoom on the screen.

• 20:36Speaker 04

  That part was crazy.

• 20:37Speaker 02

Are you gonna be zooming in the car?

• 20:38Speaker 01

I've never, I've never wanted to do that. You can do that in Teslas already. I've also never wanted to do that in my Tesla. Long time. Never wanted to do it.

• 20:45Speaker 02

I assume that's also audio only.

• 20:48Speaker 01

  No.

• 20:49Speaker 02

  Video while driving?

• 20:50Speaker 01

Not while driving. I don't think, I think that should also be.

• 20:53Speaker 02

  They didn't say no.

• 20:53Speaker 01

They didn't clarify, but it should also be while parked.

• 20:57Speaker 04

  It should be, but.

• 20:58Speaker 02

  It probably is.

• 20:59Speaker 01

But yeah, taking a meeting in the car on that car screen. They made an interesting point. They said that the, the speakers in your car for most people are the best speakers you own. I've never thought about that.

• 21:09Speaker 04

  I knew it.

• 21:10Speaker 01

I knew, I want to hear your take on this, but my first reaction to that was like, that might be true for a lot of people.

• 21:16Speaker 04

It's definitely true for a lot of people. Unfortunately, sad.

• 21:18Speaker 01

So now that, that line with Paris Hilton of like, my car is my personal movie theater. At first that was really cringy, but then I'm like, I mean, the screen's not good, but it is the, it is the best speakers you have. So.

• 21:29Speaker 02

I would, I would say that's accurate. I would say so.

• 21:32Speaker 04

But why would you watch a video on like a little four inch screen?

• 21:35Speaker 01

So the video part gets weird because the Bluetooth lag is sometimes pretty dramatic. Like I don't want to watch a movie with a second and a half of lag to the speakers. So then I guess I do want to watch it on the screen in the car, but that's never a good screen. Ever.

• 21:48Speaker 04

  Ever.

• 21:49Speaker 01

So I don't know how I feel about watching a movie in the car, but if you're charging, you're sitting there with an EV for 45 minutes, maybe waiting for a charger and then it's a slow charge, whatever. It's a way to burn the time.

• 22:00Speaker 02

Ellis is gonna watch Dune on the big screen in the car.

• 22:04Speaker 01

  That sounds pretty fun.

• 22:06Speaker 03

Just like, you know, when you're learning how to do audio stuff, especially music stuff, like a big part is learning how to make your mixes translate to a car.

• 22:15Speaker 01

  The car test, baby.

• 22:16Speaker 03

You want to like check stuff in a car because car speakers are like universally the weirdest, like this, like the way something sounds in a studio, it'll sound kind of similar in a lot of speakers and then in a car it'll sound completely different somehow. And so, yeah, definitely hearing, but I guess compared to almost any soundbar, probably a car is like better.

• 22:34Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 22:35Speaker 03

Most people only have soundbars in their homes.

• 22:37Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 22:37Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 22:38Speaker 01

  That's sad.

• 22:39Speaker 03

  Way to bum me out.

• 22:43Speaker 01

So, big Android update. Android Auto update coming. The last piece of the puzzle, though, is Gemini Intelligence, which of course, they're probably going to talk way more about at Google I/O.

• 22:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 22:55Speaker 01

But we did get some new intelligence features. They kept calling it, what did they say? An intelligence.

• 23:01Speaker 03

It's not an operating system, I guess.

• 23:02Speaker 01

  Right.

• 23:02Speaker 03

  It's an intelligence.

• 23:03Speaker 01

Intelligence system. It's intelligence. Okay. So what's new? So what's the intelligence system? Okay. There are more agentic features from Gemini. It can take action for you through your apps and use your apps for you. And also, some smaller things like autofill, like better speech to text, where it removes a lot of the filler words and you can speak in two different languages and it'll work at the same time.

• 23:30Speaker 03

Those were probably the best use cases of these new features.

• 23:34Speaker 01

I think the smallest ones were the best ones.

• 23:35Speaker 03

Yeah, like they should have leaned hard into those because that's like everyday life things versus their weird examples that I'm sure you'll bring up, but like,

• 23:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 23:43Speaker 03

using Gemini to book concert tickets or something is just insane behavior.

• 23:48Speaker 01

That was my, okay, that was my take. So I tweeted this. I tweeted just a screenshot of the Google slide that just said, "Book two floor seats to this concert." And then in the video, the person just clicks it and then that's the end of the

• 24:02Speaker 02

  They're like, great.

• 24:03Speaker 01

And they're like, yep, got the tickets. What? No, that's not how this works. That's also not even how I want it to work. I want to shop around a little bit. I actually want to engage with this.

• 24:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 24:12Speaker 01

  Pick the seats I want.

• 24:14Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 24:14Speaker 01

Pick the best deal. Like there are, there's way more nuance to it. Now, I tweeted this and Dieter replied, he said, well, there's only so much we could fit in a sizzle reel. Of course Gemini Intelligence leaves the user in control for the final checkout process. He linked the article that describes it, but I also don't see anything about the final checkout process in here. So I'm curious to see what the rest of the checkout process looks like.

• 24:35Speaker 02

Because like if they're showing this while you're driving your car, they're showing you can do all of this while you're doing other things.

• 24:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 24:42Speaker 02

How thorough could it really be?

• 24:44Speaker 01

That's the other thing is how much do you trust it? Because look, I've grown up now in the age of AI making lots of mistakes.

• 24:52Speaker 04

  Old.

• 24:52Speaker 01

And it's getting better, yes, but I'm very familiar with AI hallucinating things and making lots of mistakes. So when, when people say like booking airplane tickets is a big screen activity, I think what they really mean is like, I want to make sure I'm doing this right and actually getting what I want here. And doing a single button press in Gemini and then maybe two or more steps in a checkout process still doesn't feel like quite enough.

• 25:13Speaker 02

It feels like when people have like a Google Home or a different like home device and they're like, I don't know, buy me this thing. And there's no follow-up. It just feels very, just like, I want it now.

• 25:24Speaker 01

Yeah. For some people, that's going to be fine because they don't care which version they just bought or how much it cost or whatever, or how, how fast the delivery is going to be or any of the other steps. But yeah, I don't feel like I would do this.

• 25:36Speaker 04

This is just going to be weird too, because there's so many concerts where you end up like waiting in a queue, you know, like you have three hours of waiting before.

• 25:43Speaker 02

There's not even going to be any tickets left anyway.

• 25:45Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 25:45Speaker 02

  It's buying scalped tickets.

• 25:46Speaker 01

Gemini is going to be on Ticketmaster like refreshing like the rest of us.

• 25:50Speaker 02

  We'll see.

• 25:52Speaker 04

They need to come up with better examples because.

• 25:53Speaker 01

So they had a couple others.

• 25:54Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 25:55Speaker 01

One of them was, uh, look at the syllabus and buy all the textbooks required for the semester.

• 25:59Speaker 04

  No.

• 26:02Speaker 01

Ah, man, I don't know. I just, it's not fun to shop for the best deal for textbooks, but I don't want to just buy the default.

• 26:09Speaker 02

You know who can just pay anything a student?

• 26:11Speaker 01

Yeah, I really, I think I'm gonna look at the listing and then go look on eBay or look on Facebook Marketplace for last year's semester, like, students who are selling it. Like, I, I don't know.

• 26:20Speaker 04

No, just wait till you get to class, ask who has the ebook.

• 26:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 26:24Speaker 04

And then get the drive link.

• 26:25Speaker 01

  The other one?

• 26:26Speaker 02

Yeah. I'm very interested in the demo they had for the food, um, delivery, where they were like, you know what I order from the restaurant? Send me that, but double it.

• 26:35Speaker 01

  You know what? That one?

• 26:36Speaker 04

That one might work for me.

• 26:37Speaker 01

That one was close for me. That one was the closest because I do have, I have a restaurant near me, and I have two things, one or two things that I always swap between and order from there. And I have this whole ritual where if I'm like 15 minutes from home, like, do I feel like doing today? Not really. I will, not while I'm driving, but at a red light, I'll open the Uber Eats app and go put in the order and go for pickup. And then when I'm at a certain light, the same exact light every single time, which is exactly eight minutes away, I hit order at checkout. And then when the light turns green, I know that when I arrive, they're finishing my order.

• 27:09Speaker 04

That's crazy. You have it that well timed?

• 27:12Speaker 01

Yeah. So this is a routine enough thing.

• 27:14Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 27:15Speaker 01

That, in theory, I could just be driving in the car and just say, hey, gee, order the thing.

• 27:21Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 27:21Speaker 01

  And it could do it.

• 27:23Speaker 02

Which I think could be helpful. There's been times where I've been on like a road trip and I'm like, I am driving still and I can't stop because this is like a nine hour drive. And it'd be nice if my food was waiting for me at a future destination. But that's pretty infrequent. And also, I guess it's picking this information, I assume, from your email or from texts or like receipts.

• 27:43Speaker 04

I would imagine past orders as well, right?

• 27:46Speaker 02

  What's up?

• 27:46Speaker 04

I would imagine past orders as well.

• 27:48Speaker 02

That's what I'm saying. Is it pulling the information from your e- it has to be pulling it from somewhere because how else would it know? Like, it doesn't have access into... DoorDash or does it?

• 27:57Speaker 01

I think it's Gmail. It has it has access into Wallet Gmail, Photos and some other Google services.

• 28:01Speaker 03

But they did say they were partnering with Select Food.

• 28:04Speaker 01

It was like DoorDash and someone else.

• 28:05Speaker 02

So some kind of backdoor into DoorDash? I'm not sure.

• 28:08Speaker 03

Maybe. Before they did all the featurey stuff, they did the sort of that sort of like sizzle reel, you know, that intro cinematic. And a lot of the features they were sort of talking about in that seemed to be almost like open claw-y. Like when the command was like, keep an eye on this merch thing. That's the kind of thing that in order to do accurately, I would assume it would need to get prompted twice a day, three times a day in the background, which is like sort of what an open claw product is for. But they never actually said like it can do heartbeat style.

• 28:38Speaker 01

  Agentic.

• 28:39Speaker 03

Agentic prompts. And so I'm curious if that's sort of like something they're planning on adding.

• 28:43Speaker 01

I feel like it should be able to. I've had GPT do that sort of thing before.

• 28:48Speaker 03

You can say like, just recurrently do this and let me know.

• 28:51Speaker 01

Yeah. Yeah. And it would like twice a day, give me a like a notification of the thing that it checked again.

• 28:57Speaker 03

  Yeah. Oh, interesting.

• 28:58Speaker 01

So it's possible, but yeah. Another example here was buying, what was it? Buying all the things like tours with no? Oh, it was just like, look at my Expedia like booking and like book a tour for five people or something. Like just pick the best one, Google.

• 29:13Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 29:15Speaker 01

You might get like the one that has open seats, which isn't very good because the good one is full. I'm not really sure what it's going to pick for you.

• 29:21Speaker 03

I'm, I want to do that.

• 29:22Speaker 02

No. I, I will never get, I don't think the technology will ever get to a point where I will have it plan an entire trip and me just be like, sounds great.

• 29:31Speaker 01

It seems like it's the example every time. They're like, I want to go for a trip. Let's plan a trip to France and it just starts doing stuff.

• 29:38Speaker 02

I, I simply cannot imagine doing that.

• 29:41Speaker 03

But that's the future of Google's ads business.

• 29:43Speaker 02

I believe it, but I just.

• 29:45Speaker 03

We're already seeing like the birth of the AI SEO sort of industry of these ad agencies that are like, we will boost your rankings on GPT and Claude and stuff like that. And I think this is the future, baby. It's like, buy this thing. And then the AI goes, who paid me money to say buy this thing?

• 30:01Speaker 01

I feel like I want the AI to kick in like one step later in the process. Like, I want to do some of the research and I want to decide which exact item I'm going to buy. And then throw the AI in, which to be fair, that's one of the things is the improved auto fill.

• 30:17Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 30:17Speaker 01

Which it's going to be able to take information from what it knows about you, from your wallet, from your photos. Let's say it needs a random driver's license ID number or something for some random purchase. I don't know why it would do that.

• 30:26Speaker 02

  Your passport.

• 30:27Speaker 01

Your passport ID. That was one of the examples, but like it could throw that in there because the improved auto fill. It can take care of that for you. So that's the point where the AI I think would be very useful for me.

• 30:35Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 30:36Speaker 01

But I'm just one step later.

• 30:38Speaker 04

That auto fill thing looked really dope. Because I spend way too much time filling out different addresses, even with the auto fill by Chrome and all this stuff, it still takes too long.

• 30:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:48Speaker 04

So if there's a way to just have AI do all these generic things, go for it.

• 30:52Speaker 02

I feel like the thought of this would freak my parents out. Like, I don't think, there's some people who I feel like would not want to have their personal information. I assume there's ways to opt out of all of these, or is there?

• 31:04Speaker 01

  You would hope so.

• 31:05Speaker 02

  We don't, I don't know.

• 31:06Speaker 04

  But I don't know.

• 31:07Speaker 01

I think it would be opt in. Well, at least the way it's been treated so far is I had to tell it to access my Gmail and all that other stuff. So it was opt in.

• 31:14Speaker 04

I had to give it access to everything.

• 31:16Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 31:17Speaker 04

My calendar, my Gmail, all that.

• 31:19Speaker 01

But I mean, hey, it's there already. Use it. I've taken a picture of my passport before. That's the thing, though. Here's the thing. I have my current driver's license that I've taken a picture of. I also definitely have a picture of my old driver's license.

• 31:31Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 31:32Speaker 01

Is the driver's license number the same? Maybe it is. Have you tried if it pulls from the old one? Is that going to be a problem? I don't know.

• 31:38Speaker 04

Well, that was my question with, they had an example with Magic U and they were like, oh, I'm going on a hike and I was going back and forth to this person and they asked, they texted me the address. And with Magic U, I could just press the button and send them the address. And that has not worked for me once.

• 31:50Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 31:51Speaker 04

Every time, because it's like, I'm going back and forth with the person and we're discussing multiple places. Like, oh, do you want to go here? What if we meet there? What about this place? And every time that Magic U button that pops up, it gives me one of those places and not the one we settled on.

• 32:03Speaker 01

That is, that's why I don't trust it.

• 32:04Speaker 04

  I don't trust it.

• 32:05Speaker 01

  That's one of those things.

• 32:06Speaker 04

It's like those little things like that where it's not going to understand that we, I just said, yeah, let's do that one instead of putting in a whole address.

• 32:14Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 32:14Speaker 04

  And it just doesn't understand.

• 32:15Speaker 01

And then when it gets it wrong, it's that one little thing where it's like, now we don't want to trust it anymore. Where the person literally is like, where are we meeting? Oh, Magic U. I just send the response. And then you get there and they're like, I am 15 miles away because you sent me an address.

• 32:27Speaker 04

Yeah, they went to the wrong airport, like David.

• 32:29Speaker 02

  Oh, my God.

• 32:31Speaker 01

So TBD on testing all of that stuff, but the last thing we got a little bit of a sneak peek of is Google Book.

• 32:38Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 32:39Speaker 01

Google Book is, they hyped it a lot like it's a brand new concept, but to me it felt a lot like Chrome OS Plus.

• 32:46Speaker 04

  Okay, yeah.

• 32:47Speaker 01

It's a Chromebook with Chrome OS. It has Android apps. It has a premium build, as they say, and it'll have a little light bar. It'll be made by one of several OEMs, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus. And it runs this more Gemini-centered version of Chrome OS where it has essentially the magic pointer on the top of it, which you wiggle the click, the cursor, and it becomes a little multimodal portal into Gemini. You can click a photo, learn about it. You can click several photos, combine them together with Android Banana. You can ask it to rephrase some text that you highlight with the cursor. It's just that your cursor becomes this portal into Gemini. It's a cool concept.

• 33:28Speaker 04

But why a new product category?

• 33:30Speaker 01

  Yeah, why is it?

• 33:30Speaker 04

This is what I'm confused about. This is just, yeah, it's just Chrome OS.

• 33:34Speaker 01

  It's just an update.

• 33:35Speaker 04

And the Chrome OS Chromebooks, like the more recent ones that were really good, already could run Android apps.

• 33:40Speaker 01

  Yep, in the Play Store.

• 33:42Speaker 04

Yeah, so I'm like, why do a whole rebrand?

• 33:45Speaker 01

I think there may be a distinction between emulating the Play Store from your phone and actually running the app on the laptop.

• 33:55Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 33:56Speaker 01

In the, like, you know, you can, like, mirror your iPhone on your Mac. Same thing with, like, you can use apps that are on your phone and access files that are on your phone from the laptop. But I think that might be a slight distinction here where it's actually running the app on the laptop instead of running it or mirroring it from what your phone is running.

• 34:13Speaker 04

But then how does it have the data from my phone?

• 34:16Speaker 01

Some other extra connection between your phone and your laptop.

• 34:19Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 34:20Speaker 01

I don't think that part is new.

• 34:20Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 34:21Speaker 01

But yeah, now it's like, oh, I'm writing an email. Let me just attach a file that's from my phone. You can just drag it from your phone.

• 34:27Speaker 02

So this might be a stupid question, but did they kill Chromebooks?

• 34:32Speaker 01

Didn't seem like they killed it.

• 34:34Speaker 02

So this is just a new additional.

• 34:35Speaker 01

They never mentioned Chromebooks, so I assumed they didn't kill Chromebooks. But this is a new concept, Google Book.

• 34:40Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 34:41Speaker 04

I do like the idea. Like when, when I saw it, I was like, oh, that's cool. Like premium hardware. It's the same reason I was excited for like the old Chromebook Pixel, like the nice premium laptops that are tied into all my Google stuff. I already have the Android phone, the Pixel phone, whatever, like just put it all in one place. I like that idea. I'm just confused about the whole new branding around Google Books specifically.

• 35:03Speaker 02

Who is this for? Who's, who's buying this? That's what I want to know.

• 35:08Speaker 01

That's another good question because we kind of know what a Chromebook is. And a Chromebook historically has been a cheaper like entry into the Google ecosystem for students and a lot of people who just need like a web browser and that's basically it. And they have some apps on their phone. A more premium version of that means higher price tag, potentially higher performance, more interesting features.

• 35:29Speaker 04

But what does it do? If you're having a higher price tag, I need it to do real work things.

• 35:34Speaker 02

  It's an AI machine.

• 35:35Speaker 01

Yeah, it's built, it's the first laptop. Wait, let me take the exact quote.

• 35:39Speaker 02

Is there a price point for this either? I didn't.

• 35:41Speaker 01

There's no price yet. This, the first laptops designed for Google Gemini intelligence from the ground up.

• 35:47Speaker 04

Does that mean that it can run Final Cut or Adobe Premiere or?

• 35:50Speaker 01

  Definitely doesn't.

• 35:51Speaker 02

  I really doubt that.

• 35:53Speaker 04

Or even outside of like the creative video editing workflow, like can it do? I don't know.

• 35:59Speaker 02

Like this, this is not, it doesn't feel like a competitor to the MacBook Neo. Like it doesn't even feel like a similar, because that's like their budget item and this feels completely different category.

• 36:09Speaker 01

This is the, I want to use Gemini more than the average person Chromebook.

• 36:14Speaker 04

Which is me. I would like to do that.

• 36:16Speaker 02

But you need a whole separate computer to do that?

• 36:19Speaker 04

Yeah, like I should be like, why can't I just install an app on my current computer that does all this?

• 36:23Speaker 01

Yeah. Why, why is this not a software update to an existing Chromebook?

• 36:27Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 36:28Speaker 01

That's, that's what I would like to know.

• 36:29Speaker 04

Like what is the benefit of me buying into this hardware system? Cause it's like, I'm buying a whole new laptop.

• 36:35Speaker 01

  The glow bar.

• 36:38Speaker 01

We're also gonna get the glow bar.

• 36:40Speaker 04

What it does? What is the glow bar?

• 36:41Speaker 01

  It just glows.

• 36:41Speaker 04

  It just glows?

• 36:42Speaker 01

  It just looks nice.

• 36:43Speaker 04

Alright, if it literally just glows, I'm here for it.

• 36:45Speaker 01

I think it literally just a nice looking glow bar.

• 36:48Speaker 02

That's not the only thing it does, and then they like didn't elaborate.

• 36:51Speaker 01

  Did they say that?

• 36:51Speaker 02

I could be misremembering. It seemed very ominous.

• 36:54Speaker 01

I was taking notes, so I might have missed some parts of that, but it seems like it just glows.

• 36:58Speaker 04

If it literally just glows, I'm here for it. That's so, just, why not? Why not? But I'm just like, I'm just confused about this, this whole thing.

• 37:06Speaker 02

Yeah. I'm not sure what the use case is, and I really wanna know how much this is gonna cost.

• 37:10Speaker 01

I will try to get my hands on a Google Book. I don't know who's gonna make the first one. I don't know if it's gonna be HP or-

• 37:15Speaker 04

  It will be HP.

• 37:16Speaker 01

Asus or Samsung. Probably HP, yeah. We'll see if I can get my hands on a Google Book.

• 37:20Speaker 04

Well, what was the first one? Wasn't it Acer? The C140 or something like that?

• 37:24Speaker 01

  The CR48?

• 37:25Speaker 04

  That one.

• 37:25Speaker 01

  That was unbranded.

• 37:28Speaker 04

  Wait.

• 37:28Speaker 01

I don't think they ever said like an OEM.

• 37:30Speaker 04

  I thought-

• 37:30Speaker 01

It was literally a logoless, matte black, featureless laptop.

• 37:35Speaker 02

  Just what you want.

• 37:36Speaker 04

Oh no, that was Acer. That was Acer.

• 37:37Speaker 01

  It was Acer?

• 37:38Speaker 04

  Acer CR48.

• 37:39Speaker 01

Okay, Acer made it. Was there a logo? Are you looking at pictures of it?

• 37:42Speaker 04

Yeah, I'm looking at pictures. I don't see any logo.

• 37:45Speaker 01

This is like the first ever Chromebook.

• 37:47Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 37:47Speaker 01

You can see how they got me into Chromebooks, cuz they made a featureless, matte black, sleek Chromebook to start it off, and I was like, alright, I think I could get into this.

• 37:56Speaker 04

And then you tried to use it, and you were like, okay.

• 37:57Speaker 02

It has like 1GB RAM in it.

• 37:59Speaker 01

  Yeah, so I love Chromebooks.

• 38:01Speaker 04

I used one for all throughout college. It was awesome. But then I graduated and I had to do things for work, and I was like, now I can't use this computer, I need a new computer. And if I'm gonna spend like, I don't know, let's say it's, what, 1,500 for a premium? They kept saying premium, so I'm assuming it's gonna be expensive.

• 38:16Speaker 01

  That is really premium.

• 38:17Speaker 04

  Right? That's expensive.

• 38:18Speaker 02

  Too much.

• 38:19Speaker 01

I picture when they say premium, I pictured 1,000.

• 38:21Speaker 04

1,000? I mean, that is premium, but I mean, you get a MacBook Air for that, so.

• 38:24Speaker 02

For this? And they didn't announce any other specs.

• 38:28Speaker 04

No, but the MacBook Air don't jiggle, baby.

• 38:32Speaker 01

Doesn't have a glow bar. I, I mean, the glow bar. Premium could mean anything. The, the typical Chromebook range is like 250 to 550.

• 38:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 38:40Speaker 01

  650 maybe.

• 38:41Speaker 04

But this isn't a Chromebook, Marquez. This is a premium hardware.

• 38:44Speaker 01

Right, premium hardware. But that could just mean more metal than plastic. That could mean like a better keyboard deck and a brighter screen and stuff like that. Doesn't necessarily mean like high-end specs and tons of RAM.

• 38:52Speaker 04

I think that's exactly what it means. I think it just means metal.

• 38:56Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah. 7.99.

• 38:59Speaker 04

  7.99?

• 39:00Speaker 01

  I don't know.

• 39:00Speaker 04

  I don't know.

• 39:01Speaker 01

It's gonna be, it's gonna be interesting to put this alongside a Chromebook and see what they actually do differently.

• 39:05Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:05Speaker 01

  That's what we'll see.

• 39:06Speaker 04

It doesn't seem like it'll be much.

• 39:07Speaker 02

We need David to test this. David, come home.

• 39:11Speaker 01

Speaking of David, you know what he's not here for? Trivia.

• 39:17Speaker 04

  Nice.

• 39:17Speaker 01

But Mariah will have to, wait, so you get.

• 39:19Speaker 02

  Who am I playing for?

• 39:20Speaker 01

You played for Andrew last time?

• 39:22Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:23Speaker 01

So you'll keep playing for Andrew.

• 39:24Speaker 04

  You're in David's.

• 39:25Speaker 01

  You're in David's seat.

• 39:26Speaker 03

I think you should play for David.

• 39:27Speaker 02

  Okay, sorry, David.

• 39:28Speaker 04

  And I'll play for Andrew.

• 39:29Speaker 01

Okay, you play for the person whose seat you're in.

• 39:31Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 39:32Speaker 01

  I'll play for Marquez.

• 39:33Speaker 02

  That's fair.

• 39:34Speaker 01

  Adam will play for Andrew.

• 39:35Speaker 02

We can swap seats. Do you wanna play for David?

• 39:37Speaker 01

No, I wanna play for me. I wanna play for me. I need points, I need points.

• 39:40Speaker 03

All right, this is gonna be a prices right rules question.

• 39:42Speaker 01

  Please, Ellis.

• 39:43Speaker 03

  So closest without going over.

• 39:45Speaker 04

  17.99.

• 39:46Speaker 03

Sony is known for choosing very bad names for their products because the names are overly complicated and filled with

• 39:52Speaker 04

  Memorized, though.

• 39:53Speaker 03

crazy numbers. Google has the opposite problem where their names are so simple, they often overlap with one another and become confusing.

• 40:02Speaker 01

That's funny. They do do that.

• 40:04Speaker 03

How many Google products and services have the word "book"?

• 40:10Speaker 02

  No.

• 40:11Speaker 04

  Oh, God.

• 40:13Speaker 02

Is there a limit? What's the biggest number it could be?

• 40:17Speaker 01

  Prices are right rules?

• 40:18Speaker 03

Prices are right rules, and I'm just gonna give you guys one hint right now. The Chromebook Pixel is only one, even though the 2013 and 2015 Chromebook Pixels are different devices. I'm counting those as one device because they have one Wikipedia page.

• 40:32Speaker 04

  Yeah. Okay.

• 40:34Speaker 03

  These are products and services.

• 40:37Speaker 03

So remember, just to kick it off, there is now the Google Book and Google Books.

• 40:41Speaker 04

And these count, like these current releases. You're adding these.

• 40:45Speaker 03

Yeah, Google, like I said, both Google Book and Google Books is on the list.

• 40:50Speaker 02

David, you're not going to get any points today. I'm sorry, brother.

• 40:53Speaker 04

David is somewhere yelling at his phone because he actually knows the answer.

• 40:56Speaker 02

This is the one he was made for. I'm not even going to write anything down yet.

• 40:59Speaker 01

The service does not have to be alive still.

• 41:01Speaker 03

  No, it does not.

• 41:02Speaker 02

  Oh, no.

• 41:03Speaker 04

Chances are it is not alive.

• 41:05Speaker 01

  That's also true statistically speaking.

• 41:06Speaker 03

And remember, there can be letters immediately preceding or immediately succeeding the word book. It can be blank, blank, blank book or book, blank, blank.

• 41:14Speaker 01

Like books later. All right. Well, we'll think about that. We'll try to be Price is Right accurate. Answers at the end like usual. We'll be right back.

• 44:40Speaker 03

Welcome back. All right, so on the production calendar, we have had this day there for a while, because this day is podcast recording with no David, no Andrew.

• 44:50Speaker 04

  This day comes every year.

• 44:51Speaker 03

And you know us, we thought, what better than a game? And today, for the first time, I have my compatriot.

• 44:59Speaker 03

Rufus, who came up with this amazing game many weeks ago, and we have put it into effect. Do you guys remember when we did Family Feud and we asked the waveform audience to answer a bunch of questions?

• 45:08Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, we did. Yeah.

• 45:11Speaker 03

  Well, we bring you today.

• 45:12Speaker 04

  Uh oh.

• 45:13Speaker 03

An even better version of it called... I didn't time this one very well.

• 45:19Speaker 04

  You're doing great, too.

• 45:20Speaker 03

Reddit Family Feud. Oh, no. That's like Reddit Family Feud. We found nine Reddit posts on reddit.com that had answers that we thought were funny, interesting, bad, uninformed, informed, whatever you want it to be.

• 45:34Speaker 04

That's just Reddit. You just described Reddit.

• 45:36Speaker 03

We gave them to... I don't remember which AI model. It might have been Alibaba's Quen.

• 45:42Speaker 04

  Quen.

• 45:43Speaker 03

I think it was Quen. We gave them to Quen, and we said, "Quen, perform sentiment analysis and let us know what the most common or upvoted answers to these questions asked on Reddit were." So the way this game is gonna work is we're gonna read you the Reddit post. You guys are gonna have to guess what is either the most commonly answered thing or the most commonly upvoted thing. And we'll let you know before each question. This is a, this is an upvotes one. This is a sentiment analysis one. And I'm just gonna give you a quick example. This first question we're gonna do is, "Why do people hate Apple so much?"

• 46:22Speaker 03

The number 10 answer on the board, so this is a most commonly answered one. The number 10 answer is "lack of innovation year over year." Nine people.

• 46:32Speaker 04

  That was number 10?

• 46:33Speaker 03

That was the least, that was like of the top 10, the least answered one.

• 46:36Speaker 01

This is like daily 10s, but in real life.

• 46:38Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 46:38Speaker 03

  One.

• 46:39Speaker 04

So if I had answered that, I would get how many points?

• 46:41Speaker 03

So I'm glad you said that, because I was about to bring that up. The last time we did Family Feud, we used a linear, straightforward answering system that I think we stole from, I can't remember how they do scoring on the TV show, but, you know, like if you answered the 10th answer, you'd get one point. If you answered the top answer, you'd get 10 points. This time, we said, "Increase chaos by a lot." And the points are based on how common that answer was. So if you had gotten that answer, "lack of innovation year over year", you'd have gotten nine points out of it. If you had gotten the number one answer for this question, which I will not read right now, you would have gotten 58 points. Oh, my god.

• 47:15Speaker 04

Damn. This could get out of hand.

• 47:17Speaker 03

This will get out of hand. This will get out of hand. Oh, my god. That's kind of the point.

• 47:21Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 47:22Speaker 03

So the way we're gonna do it is you hit your buzzer. It locks everyone else's buzzers. And then you've got the chance to answer. You'll either get it right or you'll get it wrong. If you get it right, you get to make another guess. And if you get it wrong.

• 47:37Speaker 01

  Then it gets unlocked?

• 47:39Speaker 03

Then someone else can buzz in and steal it.

• 47:41Speaker 04

I'm gonna go nine for nine. You guys are not gonna be able to answer. The segment will be over in about three minutes.

• 47:45Speaker 03

And if you guys are somehow like prime brain redditors, like you just can guess what redditors are doing, then we'll turn on that. You could get three guesses and then you're not letting us in that question anymore. But I think we should be good as is.

• 47:56Speaker 02

We might need to test this out and just see what the...

• 47:58Speaker 03

I don't know how to decide who, I guess.

• 48:01Speaker 01

I've done a good amount of redditing in my day.

• 48:04Speaker 03

Yeah, so why do people hate Apple so much? Someone buzz in.

• 48:07Speaker 05

  Who buzzed?

• 48:08Speaker 04

  Me.

• 48:08Speaker 05

  Adam.

• 48:09Speaker 04

  Yeah, boy.

• 48:09Speaker 05

Why do people hate Apple so much?

• 48:11Speaker 04

  Because it's expensive.

• 48:13Speaker 05

  It's expensive.

• 48:13Speaker 01

  Ding ding ding.

• 48:14Speaker 05

  That's, yeah, number one answer.

• 48:15Speaker 04

  Number one answer.

• 48:16Speaker 05

  Fifty-eight points to Adam.

• 48:17Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's right.

• 48:17Speaker 05

  You get to guess again.

• 48:18Speaker 04

  Catch up.

• 48:18Speaker 02

  That's crazy.

• 48:19Speaker 04

  Eat my bubbles.

• 48:20Speaker 02

  All right, all right.

• 48:21Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 48:22Speaker 02

  Oh, we're...

• 48:23Speaker 03

No, no, you had the, you got it right.

• 48:24Speaker 01

You don't have to buzz again.

• 48:26Speaker 04

Oh, okay, so I can just keep going? Okay, okay. So then the next most common answer by redditors is because it's ass.

• 48:37Speaker 05

  Because it's bad.

• 48:39Speaker 02

  Because it's bad.

• 48:39Speaker 03

  I don't think anything...

• 48:41Speaker 02

  Oh, sorry, was that preemptive?

• 48:43Speaker 03

It was, but Raya, we'll let you answer.

• 48:45Speaker 02

Um, can I say they break easily?

• 48:48Speaker 01

  Lack of repairability.

• 48:48Speaker 03

That's funny, so that's people, no, yeah.

• 48:52Speaker 02

  One...

• 48:52Speaker 03

But Marquez, you did buzz it in and you did say not repairable, which is the third most high sad thing on this question.

• 48:59Speaker 01

  There you go.

• 49:00Speaker 05

  Thirty-six points.

• 49:01Speaker 02

Wait, so did I not get any points?

• 49:02Speaker 05

  No.

• 49:03Speaker 02

What the [bleep]? Wait, you just said yes to all of that and then...

• 49:06Speaker 05

No, I changed your vibe. It was... Yeah, what he said.

• 49:11Speaker 01

I've been feeling the whole game's gonna go like that.

• 49:14Speaker 02

  Yeah. Are we still going?

• 49:16Speaker 04

  Yeah, are we still going?

• 49:17Speaker 02

  The cult...

• 49:18Speaker 03

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I think Marquez got that right.

• 49:20Speaker 01

Technically, me and I keep going.

• 49:21Speaker 02

  Okay, sorry.

• 49:22Speaker 03

  The board is yours.

• 49:23Speaker 01

  Uh, user hostility.

• 49:25Speaker 03

Explain what you mean by that.

• 49:27Speaker 01

  Ecosystem wall.

• 49:28Speaker 03

  Yep, now walled garden ecosystem.

• 49:30Speaker 05

  Number five answers.

• 49:32Speaker 01

  Number five.

• 49:33Speaker 05

  Twenty-nine points.

• 49:34Speaker 01

Interesting. What about like, uh, not available in my, or, yeah, not available in my region?

• 49:41Speaker 03

Unfortunately, I do not see that.

• 49:43Speaker 04

  No way.

• 49:44Speaker 01

  They're too global.

• 49:45Speaker 04

They're trying to get themselves into every region.

• 49:47Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's true.

• 49:48Speaker 02

  They're ugly.

• 49:51Speaker 01

  The design?

• 49:53Speaker 02

  I'll go back.

• 49:54Speaker 01

I feel like Reddit would say that. I feel like they would.

• 49:56Speaker 03

No, people think they look great.

• 49:58Speaker 02

  Sims.

• 50:00Speaker 04

  Lack of customization.

• 50:02Speaker 01

  That's a good one.

• 50:04Speaker 04

  Gimme that, gimme that.

• 50:05Speaker 03

  Nope.

• 50:06Speaker 04

  No? Come on, Redditors.

• 50:11Speaker 01

Lacking in like updated specs. They never have the biggest batteries or the highest numbers or any of that.

• 50:17Speaker 03

  No.

• 50:18Speaker 01

  No silicon carbine, no?

• 50:19Speaker 04

Okay, wait. Uh, hmm. Let's see, let's see.

• 50:28Speaker 03

  No games, bro.

• 50:28Speaker 04

  No games.

• 50:30Speaker 03

  Reddit.

• 50:31Speaker 02

  No way.

• 50:32Speaker 05

  Gaming limitations.

• 50:32Speaker 04

  Let's go!

• 50:34Speaker 05

Number four answer for 32 points. Gamers spend $1,200 on GPU alone. Counterargument.

• 50:42Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 50:44Speaker 03

  Thanks.

• 50:45Speaker 05

  So gamers cannot afford that.

• 50:49Speaker 05

A lot of these are, you're answering these questions as if the Redditors would give the actual answers.

• 50:55Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 50:55Speaker 05

But a lot of these are just Reddit responses.

• 50:59Speaker 04

  Yeah, okay.

• 51:00Speaker 05

Well, it's things like, a lot of these are, I don't care, I'm gonna talk about something else.

• 51:05Speaker 02

  I could have said that.

• 51:08Speaker 04

Okay, so I'm gonna, I got that right.

• 51:09Speaker 05

A few of them are a little bit of a left.

• 51:12Speaker 03

If you said, why do Apple products suck so much? Why, you know, what is the second highest answer on the board would be?

• 51:18Speaker 04

  Your mom.

• 51:19Speaker 01

  Cause they always have.

• 51:21Speaker 03

Not quite. Ryan, I see you itching to buzz in.

• 51:23Speaker 02

I don't know. They don't like Tim Cook.

• 51:26Speaker 03

  Hmm, no.

• 51:28Speaker 01

Would it be they don't suck?

• 51:32Speaker 02

  We didn't buzz in.

• 51:34Speaker 05

I just buzzed. Which one you wanna give him?

• 51:36Speaker 01

Oh, I thought this is an example. I just.

• 51:38Speaker 03

Give it to, give it to six.

• 51:39Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 51:39Speaker 03

  There's, there's the.

• 51:40Speaker 05

The number two answer on the board.

• 51:42Speaker 03

Is sort of a slight variation on that, but it's slight enough that I think it deserves its own thing. But next time, let's make sure we're using the buzzers, folks.

• 51:49Speaker 01

Okay, got it, got it, got it.

• 51:50Speaker 02

I need to think like a Redditor.

• 51:52Speaker 04

Wait, so what was your most recent answer? What'd you just say? It doesn't suck.

• 51:56Speaker 01

  It doesn't suck.

• 51:57Speaker 05

And the answer on the board was, build quality and reliability is actually excellent.

• 52:03Speaker 02

So we have both sides. We have, wait, did we already say like, so we have, it doesn't suck, but do we already, we already have it sucks, right? Question mark?

• 52:12Speaker 01

But why it's, why does it suck?

• 52:14Speaker 02

It doesn't matter. They just, they don't like it.

• 52:18Speaker 05

  Not on the board.

• 52:18Speaker 02

  No?

• 52:21Speaker 04

  Siri is goaded.

• 52:23Speaker 05

  Not on the board.

• 52:23Speaker 02

  No way.

• 52:24Speaker 05

I don't think anybody thinks that.

• 52:27Speaker 01

I think they would say something about the pretentious attitude of presenting everything as revolutionary when it's not.

• 52:32Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 52:33Speaker 03

That, I would say that is seven. Tribalism slash platform wars, that feels, that feels on point.

• 52:41Speaker 02

Can we say like explicitly better than Android? Nothing?

• 52:45Speaker 03

That might have, I might have given you tribalism for that, but.

• 52:48Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 52:49Speaker 02

What was his Reddit post again?

• 52:50Speaker 04

  What was the question?

• 52:51Speaker 03

It was, why do people hate Apple so much?

• 52:53Speaker 01

Right, right. I thought that was an example question.

• 52:56Speaker 02

  Yeah, that doesn't count.

• 52:58Speaker 01

Were we getting, were we getting points for that?

• 53:00Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 53:00Speaker 04

  We were getting points.

• 53:01Speaker 05

And it's a closer game than you would think.

• 53:03Speaker 01

Oh, whoops, okay. Let's do it.

• 53:05Speaker 02

  Oh, boy.

• 53:06Speaker 03

  Guys, after that first question.

• 53:11Speaker 03

You said this is a close game? Adam, you are in second place with 90 points.

• 53:16Speaker 02

  No.

• 53:16Speaker 03

Marquez, you are in first place with 110 points.

• 53:20Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 53:20Speaker 03

And Mariah, holding up the caboose with zero points.

• 53:25Speaker 03

It's okay, Mariah. The questions you guys left on the board were, uh, number nine, people think hating popular things makes them smart. Number eight was an HP EliteBook comparison.

• 53:38Speaker 03

And number two, the variation on they don't suck is, people who hate it haven't actually used.

• 53:44Speaker 04

  That's a good one.

• 53:45Speaker 05

By the way, 14 people commented about the HP EliteBook.

• 53:48Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 53:48Speaker 02

  What forum was this on?

• 53:50Speaker 03

  Reddit.com.

• 53:51Speaker 05

  R slash Mac.

• 53:52Speaker 02

  Oh, okay.

• 53:53Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, we should read the subreddit.

• 53:54Speaker 01

They're probably talking about the Neo or something.

• 53:56Speaker 03

  Guys, this next question.

• 53:58Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 53:59Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 53:59Speaker 02

  No, wait.

• 54:01Speaker 04

  I'm ready.

• 54:01Speaker 03

Guys, let's just give it up for Rufus. This is, this is one of my favorite games we've ever done. Picking off this next question, very similar. This is on r slash computers.

• 54:11Speaker 04

  Compuda.

• 54:12Speaker 03

Why does everyone hate Windows 11?

• 54:16Speaker 01

  The ads, bro.

• 54:18Speaker 05

Number 10 answer? Ads in the OS.

• 54:20Speaker 01

  That's number 10?

• 54:21Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 54:22Speaker 02

  There's worse.

• 54:22Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 54:23Speaker 04

  Really hate Windows 11.

• 54:24Speaker 01

  The bugs. The bugs is.

• 54:27Speaker 02

He's just gonna run down the list.

• 54:28Speaker 03

  That is number eight.

• 54:29Speaker 04

  Oh, damn, okay.

• 54:30Speaker 01

  Really not that high?

• 54:31Speaker 05

  Performance worse than Windows 10.

• 54:33Speaker 01

  Okay, um, the aesthetics.

• 54:39Speaker 01

It's not very clean or polished or good looking.

• 54:43Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 54:43Speaker 04

  All right. Privacy.

• 54:46Speaker 03

Privacy is, yeah, what number is that? Four, five? The number five answer worth 27 points.

• 54:52Speaker 04

  Damn right.

• 54:52Speaker 03

  Adam, you control the board.

• 54:54Speaker 04

Okay, next up after privacy, the obvious answer is build quality.

• 55:00Speaker 03

This is Windows 11, which is an operating system.

• 55:03Speaker 04

Yeah, it comes on laptops, does it not?

• 55:04Speaker 03

  It comes on everything.

• 55:06Speaker 02

  AI, we hate AI.

• 55:08Speaker 03

AI is the number two answer. 38 points, she is officially here, folks. Right, you have control.

• 55:15Speaker 02

  Oh, no. We hate McAfee.

• 55:20Speaker 01

  Good answer.

• 55:22Speaker 02

  No.

• 55:23Speaker 01

  No one said that.

• 55:25Speaker 03

Adam? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Oh, no, no, no. Bloatware and AI features were bundled into one.

• 55:31Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 55:32Speaker 03

  Adam, I'm sorry, you.

• 55:34Speaker 01

Yeah, no, it's fine. Yeah, whatever.

• 55:35Speaker 04

No, Mariah gets to go, so she has control.

• 55:37Speaker 02

No, I went wrong. I was wrong.

• 55:40Speaker 02

Oh, we're bundling it. Okay, okay, okay.

• 55:44Speaker 02

Oh, man, I never thought I'd make it this far.

• 55:47Speaker 02

We hate Windows 11 because of the, we already, did we talk about the tiles? We said, you said design or UI, right?

• 55:54Speaker 01

  I did.

• 55:55Speaker 02

Tiles? We see in tiles on here?

• 55:58Speaker 01

  Start menu?

• 55:59Speaker 03

Okay, we gotta, we gotta explain this. Marquez, you said the design and we said no. However, UI changes are on here. But I do believe tiles was brought into Windows 11 and Windows 8.

• 56:10Speaker 02

  Yeah, that's old. That's old.

• 56:11Speaker 03

So, but honestly, just to make it a more competitive game, let's give Mariah the points.

• 56:16Speaker 02

  We're so back.

• 56:19Speaker 02

David, I'm gonna make you proud, my son.

• 56:23Speaker 04

  Okay, Mariah.

• 56:23Speaker 03

Mariah, you have the control of the board once again.

• 56:25Speaker 02

Man, other things that we hate.

• 56:28Speaker 03

The number one answer is still on the board, folks.

• 56:30Speaker 02

  That's right.

• 56:30Speaker 04

I got this. I got this.

• 56:32Speaker 01

  I know it is.

• 56:34Speaker 02

I feel like we've said all the main things that we don't like.

• 56:37Speaker 04

  We did not.

• 56:39Speaker 02

  What else is there?

• 56:40Speaker 04

Right, I'm going to start in five seconds. So many things. There's so many.

• 56:44Speaker 02

We don't like the Game Hub. It's terrible.

• 56:48Speaker 04

  I don't see Game Hub.

• 56:48Speaker 02

  I know, no one cares.

• 56:52Speaker 01

  We actually do like Windows.

• 56:54Speaker 05

  Good guess?

• 56:55Speaker 02

  No.

• 56:55Speaker 04

That was my guess. Damn, that was my guess.

• 56:57Speaker 05

Unanimously hated, there are no left turns in this one.

• 57:01Speaker 04

  Unbelievable.

• 57:02Speaker 02

Can you read the thread again, the title of it?

• 57:05Speaker 01

  Thread again?

• 57:06Speaker 02

  The title.

• 57:06Speaker 01

Why does everyone hate Windows 11?

• 57:08Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 57:10Speaker 04

  Copilot.

• 57:11Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 57:13Speaker 05

  Bundled into AI features.

• 57:14Speaker 04

  Ah, okay.

• 57:16Speaker 01

Because they all use Macs and they're too dumb to learn Windows. I'm trying to think like a redditor right now.

• 57:21Speaker 04

Wait, okay. Great point, think like a redditor, because Linux is better.

• 57:26Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 57:26Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 57:27Speaker 05

Ah, should be there, but it's not.

• 57:28Speaker 04

  Ah.

• 57:29Speaker 02

  We miss Windows 10.

• 57:31Speaker 05

  These are all...

• 57:32Speaker 04

Damn. We're better redditors than redditors.

• 57:34Speaker 01

Yeah, that's crazy. We're thinking too small.

• 57:37Speaker 04

  Okay, wait.

• 57:38Speaker 02

What's that weird thing that like screenshots your whole history? We don't like that. Okay, nevermind.

• 57:43Speaker 01

  No, that's, um...

• 57:44Speaker 02

  Is it a...

• 57:45Speaker 01

  Uh, no, it's called recall.

• 57:47Speaker 02

  Recall?

• 57:47Speaker 05

It's also written down in that same answer.

• 57:49Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 57:49Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 57:50Speaker 05

We've hit the number two answer like five times.

• 57:53Speaker 04

We still don't have number one?

• 57:54Speaker 05

  Nope, still number one.

• 57:55Speaker 04

  Damn.

• 57:56Speaker 02

  Do we have a clue?

• 57:57Speaker 04

You're missing a few textbook classic Microsoft complaints.

• 58:02Speaker 01

Oh, we said AI already. Uh, because they didn't add, I don't know.

• 58:10Speaker 02

  We don't like Microsoft now?

• 58:13Speaker 01

  System requirements.

• 58:14Speaker 03

There are two answers on the board that involve Microsoft, but not, it's a little too general.

• 58:20Speaker 04

  We don't trust Microsoft.

• 58:21Speaker 03

  No, it's still too general.

• 58:22Speaker 05

What does Windows do that you hate?

• 58:27Speaker 02

  That I hate?

• 58:28Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 58:28Speaker 03

What does Windows do that you wish it didn't?

• 58:30Speaker 01

Oh, because it doesn't... Oh, that's different. I was gonna say it doesn't have all the Apple apps and Final Cut, stuff like that.

• 58:38Speaker 04

  Too many pop-ups.

• 58:40Speaker 01

What does it do that I wish it didn't?

• 58:43Speaker 03

What does Windows do that you wish it did not do?

• 58:46Speaker 02

  It's incompatible with things.

• 58:47Speaker 01

Oh, oh, oh, oh. Random forced updates.

• 58:50Speaker 04

  Yes!

• 58:53Speaker 04

  Is that number one?

• 58:54Speaker 05

  Number nine.

• 58:55Speaker 04

  Oh, what?

• 58:56Speaker 01

  That's not number one?

• 58:58Speaker 05

  Number one's gonna be-

• 58:58Speaker 04

  With like three points?

• 58:59Speaker 05

  Something insane.

• 59:01Speaker 04

What is number one? It has to do with Microsoft as a company.

• 59:03Speaker 02

  It's related to Microsoft?

• 59:04Speaker 04

Yeah, wait. Okay, maybe we should brainstorm.

• 59:06Speaker 03

Marquez, you said, you said bugs, right? Earlier? I think that might be the number four answer. I think that, because it's talking about, I think-

• 59:12Speaker 05

I, we could, but he, we already gave him an answer for it, so we can give him double the points.

• 59:18Speaker 03

  That's true.

• 59:18Speaker 02

  What about Microsoft?

• 59:19Speaker 05

So either somebody gets the specific details down there. What do we not like about Windows 11?

• 59:24Speaker 04

  Oh yeah, Windows 11 specifically-

• 59:25Speaker 03

Andrew's like screaming at home, right?

• 59:27Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is- Oh, oh. Drivers.

• 59:31Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 59:32Speaker 03

  I went, I think-

• 59:33Speaker 02

  Driver updates?

• 59:34Speaker 05

  I hate drivers.

• 59:35Speaker 03

  Drivers have gotten pretty good.

• 59:36Speaker 01

  But maybe-

• 59:37Speaker 05

  System requirements.

• 59:37Speaker 03

  Perhaps, what, what about, explain?

• 59:40Speaker 05

Say more. The minimum system requirements are always so high.

• 59:43Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 59:44Speaker 05

  Yep.

• 59:44Speaker 03

Yeah, we'll give it to you.

• 59:45Speaker 05

  That's the answer?

• 59:46Speaker 04

  That's number one?

• 59:47Speaker 03

No, the, the number three answer was hardware requirements forcing e-waste from older compatible unsupported PCs.

• 59:53Speaker 04

Whoa, shout out to Reddit for caring about e-waste.

• 59:56Speaker 03

  Redditors love the environment.

• 59:57Speaker 04

  That's awesome.

• 59:58Speaker 05

We still don't have number one. That's insane.

• 1:00:01Speaker 03

  That's crazy.

• 1:00:02Speaker 05

They're all banging on their keyboards right now.

• 1:00:03Speaker 03

What's, yeah. It's gotten too expensive.

• 1:00:07Speaker 02

  I think Reddit should-

• 1:00:08Speaker 04

  Damn it!

• 1:00:08Speaker 05

Yeah. What do you need to run Windows?

• 1:00:18Speaker 05

  You needed, you needed GPU.

• 1:00:22Speaker 05

  Can't get one of those.

• 1:00:23Speaker 03

  RAM.

• 1:00:24Speaker 05

  No.

• 1:00:25Speaker 03

Damn. What's funny is that this is something that you also need to use a Mac.

• 1:00:29Speaker 02

  Huh?

• 1:00:30Speaker 05

  No.

• 1:00:30Speaker 03

  No?

• 1:00:31Speaker 05

  I'm confused.

• 1:00:31Speaker 03

  Are you sure about that?

• 1:00:32Speaker 05

You do not need the equivalent thing from Apple to do this.

• 1:00:34Speaker 03

  Never mind.

• 1:00:35Speaker 02

  The equivalent?

• 1:00:36Speaker 03

Guys, I think it's time to wrap this one up.

• 1:00:39Speaker 02

  I don't know, man.

• 1:00:40Speaker 01

  We don't know.

• 1:00:41Speaker 02

  Tower, PC tower.

• 1:00:42Speaker 05

Number one answer, forced Microsoft account requirement.

• 1:00:46Speaker 01

  Oh, God.

• 1:00:48Speaker 05

Also still on the board, number four, broken updates and system crashes after patching. And the number seven answer, we hate OneDrive.

• 1:00:54Speaker 02

  Yeah!

• 1:00:55Speaker 05

  Get rid of OneDrive.

• 1:00:56Speaker 02

  Killing it.

• 1:00:57Speaker 05

  Nobody likes it.

• 1:00:58Speaker 04

What's so funny is the number one answer is the reason my dad- Dad won't use it. He complains to me all the time.

• 1:01:03Speaker 02

We should have listened to the elders.

• 1:01:05Speaker 04

How did I not get that?

• 1:01:05Speaker 01

That is the number one thing I was annoyed by when setting up a competing.

• 1:01:09Speaker 04

Oh, yeah, you spoke about it.

• 1:01:10Speaker 02

It's so fleeting. It's just for such a short period of time.

• 1:01:12Speaker 01

  It's like an hour.

• 1:01:13Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:01:14Speaker 01

It's like the first hour you own the thing.

• 1:01:15Speaker 05

So we'll move on to our next point, our next question, and to round out the points, we have Marquez in first place with 187.

• 1:01:24Speaker 02

  Oh, my God.

• 1:01:24Speaker 05

Adam in second place with 117 and Mariah rounding out the back with 61 points.

• 1:01:29Speaker 04

All right, we're not that far behind. If we combine our, our forces, we can beat him.

• 1:01:32Speaker 02

  We can beat him.

• 1:01:35Speaker 03

I just want to make sure something, I just want to make sure everything's right. Adam, can you look at your camera real quick?

• 1:01:40Speaker 01

  Jesus Christ.

• 1:01:42Speaker 03

  Did you do it?

• 1:01:44Speaker 02

Bring Andrew home. Bring Andrew back.

• 1:01:49Speaker 04

  Oh, God.

• 1:01:50Speaker 02

  What's the next question?

• 1:01:51Speaker 03

This one is the one that David will be sad he missed because it is from our solo traveler.

• 1:01:56Speaker 04

Oh, I thought it was from our slash analog.

• 1:02:00Speaker 03

  Why are you laughing?

• 1:02:01Speaker 04

As he's solo traveling right now.

• 1:02:03Speaker 03

David's on a solo travel right now.

• 1:02:04Speaker 01

  That's funny.

• 1:02:05Speaker 03

This is our slash solo traveler, solo travel, excuse me, and the question is.

• 1:02:11Speaker 04

  Peak design backpack.

• 1:02:12Speaker 03

  All right, well.

• 1:02:14Speaker 02

  No.

• 1:02:14Speaker 03

  No. No.

• 1:02:15Speaker 04

  Damn.

• 1:02:16Speaker 03

Does anyone else want to try and RuPaul this one?

• 1:02:20Speaker 01

There's no penalty. There's no negative.

• 1:02:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:02:22Speaker 02

  Lonely.

• 1:02:27Speaker 03

  Nope.

• 1:02:28Speaker 02

  That's all there? Okay.

• 1:02:29Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:02:29Speaker 01

  Too expensive.

• 1:02:33Speaker 03

The question is, do you bring your laptop on trips?

• 1:02:37Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:02:38Speaker 03

You gotta give me more, though.

• 1:02:40Speaker 04

  No, it's too heavy.

• 1:02:41Speaker 03

Wait, wait, that is the number one answer on the board. No, travel light with just phone slash tablet.

• 1:02:47Speaker 01

  That's what I do.

• 1:02:48Speaker 03

  Nice, Adam.

• 1:02:49Speaker 01

  That's the only answer.

• 1:02:49Speaker 04

  Thank you, yeah.

• 1:02:51Speaker 03

  I have nine more, so.

• 1:02:52Speaker 04

  Number, wait, I said.

• 1:02:53Speaker 02

  Oh, sorry.

• 1:02:56Speaker 04

  Yes, I need to work.

• 1:02:58Speaker 03

That's the number two answer the board. Let's go. Only for work trips.

• 1:03:03Speaker 02

  Can't stop working.

• 1:03:04Speaker 04

Let's go right down the list. Number three, sometimes depends on the trip.

• 1:03:11Speaker 04

  Yup. Which one is that?

• 1:03:13Speaker 03

What? You gotta give me more info about the trip. What's the differentiator?

• 1:03:16Speaker 04

Am I visiting family or not?

• 1:03:18Speaker 03

  Nope.

• 1:03:19Speaker 04

  Damn.

• 1:03:20Speaker 06

  Marquez.

• 1:03:22Speaker 03

  Yup.

• 1:03:23Speaker 01

Sometimes depending on if I need to write a lot on this trip, type a lot. Keyboard.

• 1:03:29Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:03:29Speaker 01

  Keyboard.

• 1:03:30Speaker 03

  That would be the answer.

• 1:03:32Speaker 01

  God.

• 1:03:32Speaker 02

Can I get a big business?

• 1:03:34Speaker 01

Uh, no, that's kind of the only, that's the only number two answer only for work trips.

• 1:03:38Speaker 03

  Oh, oh.

• 1:03:39Speaker 04

  If I have a meeting.

• 1:03:40Speaker 03

Uh, no, it still works though.

• 1:03:42Speaker 01

Damn. It's the biggest screen I can bring with me, so I'll watch a movie on it.

• 1:03:47Speaker 02

  That's pretty good.

• 1:03:49Speaker 03

  No. Watch a movie?

• 1:03:52Speaker 04

  Make a movie.

• 1:03:54Speaker 01

I mean, you could edit a movie on it.

• 1:03:56Speaker 03

  Okay, that is.

• 1:03:57Speaker 04

  What?

• 1:03:58Speaker 03

The number... Yup, the number six answer for photography slash editing needs.

• 1:04:05Speaker 04

That's way higher than I thought. Oh wait, you still get to.

• 1:04:07Speaker 01

Oh, for solo travel. Okay, what else would they say? They would say, um...

• 1:04:10Speaker 03

I forgot we're doing solo traveling.

• 1:04:12Speaker 01

They would say, no, they don't even own a laptop.

• 1:04:15Speaker 03

  That's good.

• 1:04:16Speaker 02

  Nerds.

• 1:04:18Speaker 03

  Nope.

• 1:04:20Speaker 03

  Sorry, Mariah.

• 1:04:20Speaker 02

They're like, no, I don't want it to break on my trip.

• 1:04:24Speaker 01

  That's a good answer.

• 1:04:26Speaker 01

  I don't have a laptop.

• 1:04:26Speaker 02

You don't want anything to happen to it.

• 1:04:28Speaker 03

There are, there are other reasons that people said they would not bring one, but breaking is actually not one of the ones listed.

• 1:04:33Speaker 02

That's like my number one reason. I don't want to bring it places.

• 1:04:36Speaker 04

No, I don't want it to get stolen.

• 1:04:37Speaker 03

No, I don't want to get stolen is the number five answer.

• 1:04:40Speaker 04

Thank you, Mariah. Uh, yes, how else do I game?

• 1:04:46Speaker 03

  Surprising.

• 1:04:46Speaker 04

  Damn, what?

• 1:04:47Speaker 02

  Nerds aren't gaming.

• 1:04:49Speaker 01

R slash solo travel. What would these people?

• 1:04:52Speaker 05

  Gamers don't solo travel.

• 1:04:54Speaker 02

  Digital nomad.

• 1:04:56Speaker 04

  Yeah, for work.

• 1:04:57Speaker 02

  I hate that.

• 1:05:00Speaker 03

You know what, Mariah, just to keep it competitive, we're gonna give you the number eight answer on the board. Long trips only.

• 1:05:05Speaker 05

  Months, not weeks.

• 1:05:07Speaker 04

  Digital nomad, she said.

• 1:05:08Speaker 03

  She said digital nomad.

• 1:05:09Speaker 02

  I don't want the points.

• 1:05:10Speaker 01

  Different type of nomad.

• 1:05:12Speaker 03

You already have the points. We literally cannot subtract one from your score. Also, also, yes, that is what you said. Nomad implies you're traveling for...

• 1:05:21Speaker 01

  But digital nomad is different.

• 1:05:22Speaker 02

  Digital nomad.

• 1:05:23Speaker 03

The nomad, no, that's, that is a...

• 1:05:25Speaker 04

  It's like Tron.

• 1:05:26Speaker 03

The comments will agree with me.

• 1:05:28Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:05:30Speaker 02

What else? Won't bring it because...

• 1:05:33Speaker 03

How many answers do we have left?

• 1:05:34Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:05:35Speaker 03

What's left on the board? Five? The bottom five? Super quick tangent, just before I forget, we were, everyone was talking about the Google event after it ended. And someone was like, "Yeah, I keep trying to do this Gemini thing with voice and it doesn't work." And someone was like, "Well, do you think it trained with the voice?" And I was like Bene Gesserit talking to Lisan Al-Ghaib.

• 1:05:55Speaker 01

  Oh, trained with the voice.

• 1:05:57Speaker 03

Thank you. All right. I don't remember who is up, so buzz in somebody.

• 1:06:01Speaker 01

Well, you gave Mariah the Detroit moment.

• 1:06:03Speaker 03

Yeah. Then Mariah has the board and no one should buzz.

• 1:06:06Speaker 02

I don't know, man. Why aren't we bringing laptops? This is, this is, we aren't bringing laptops?

• 1:06:11Speaker 03

Well, it's, do you bring your laptops? What do you think the Reddit community responded to the prompt?

• 1:06:15Speaker 02

They said, "Yes, I have to day trade." No, it's still business.

• 1:06:20Speaker 02

  Stock exchange.

• 1:06:24Speaker 01

My laptop doesn't do anything that I want to do on this trip.

• 1:06:30Speaker 03

Yes, I will quantify that as regretted bringing it slash barely used it. Yeah.

• 1:06:36Speaker 01

And then, it's just another thing I have to charge. I don't want to charge it.

• 1:06:45Speaker 02

Did we already say like, doesn't fit in bag?

• 1:06:48Speaker 03

Travel light, I think. Oh, okay. Yeah, I think that's the number four answer. Bring an iPad slash tablet instead. Okay. Nice. Sure.

• 1:06:58Speaker 02

  Sure.

• 1:06:59Speaker 01

  Different.

• 1:06:59Speaker 03

  Excuse you.

• 1:07:01Speaker 01

I thought we said that already.

• 1:07:02Speaker 03

Excuse you. Okay, so now we have three answers left? Three answers left. The number three, nine, and 10 answers. Not a lot of points left.

• 1:07:09Speaker 01

  Laptop.

• 1:07:10Speaker 02

  What are the Redditors thinking?

• 1:07:11Speaker 01

It's because I brought my Tower PC.

• 1:07:14Speaker 01

  Solo travel.

• 1:07:15Speaker 03

Number three response on Reddit would be...

• 1:07:20Speaker 03

  Where are you going?

• 1:07:23Speaker 02

  Oh, like people are asking?

• 1:07:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:07:24Speaker 05

Now, now you're thinking with portals.

• 1:07:27Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:07:27Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:07:27Speaker 05

  Not on the board.

• 1:07:28Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:07:31Speaker 02

Are they like, "Why do you need it?" Use case scenario.

• 1:07:36Speaker 03

I think we can sweep this one up. I think we have enough. We have three answers left on the board. Sweep this one up?

• 1:07:41Speaker 05

Seems sweeping on your mind, Ellis. Interesting.

• 1:07:45Speaker 01

  You good, bro?

• 1:07:46Speaker 04

I'm sorry, Ellis. I love you.

• 1:07:47Speaker 05

  You okay?

• 1:07:49Speaker 05

You guys made him sad. So number three, yes, but only a cheap or a cheap laptop or a Chromebook. Number nine, my phone got stolen. I'm glad I had a laptop as a backup. Number 10, read a book.

• 1:08:02Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:08:03Speaker 05

  Just read a book.

• 1:08:03Speaker 02

  Whatever.

• 1:08:04Speaker 05

  Touch grass.

• 1:08:04Speaker 04

  No, that's not the same.

• 1:08:06Speaker 05

Rounding out the points, we have Adam now in the lead with 241 points, Marquez with 214, and Mariah with 92.

• 1:08:13Speaker 04

  Let's go.

• 1:08:14Speaker 03

I want to, before we do-

• 1:08:15Speaker 04

Good game, guys. We can end this here.

• 1:08:17Speaker 03

Thank you. There's, I think we should do this one next. Yeah, I want this one. Okay, good. So r/retcond is the subreddit for the Mandela Effect, but it's different than the Mandela Effect subreddit, because in the rules, it says you have to approach this subreddit with the assumption that the Mandela Effect is real and the past actually is changing.

• 1:08:36Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:08:37Speaker 03

  So it's pretty-

• 1:08:38Speaker 02

  So it's like conspiracy theory?

• 1:08:39Speaker 03

It's like, it's conspiracy theory, but not like, oh, what if these conspiracy theories are real? It's like, this is happening to me.

• 1:08:46Speaker 02

  Got it.

• 1:08:47Speaker 01

I have a submission for the Mandela Effect. Fisher Price car. Never been bought. There's never been a Fisher Price car. It's Little Tykes.

• 1:08:55Speaker 03

What? I had one as a kid.

• 1:08:56Speaker 01

Everyone thinks it's a Fisher Price car.

• 1:08:58Speaker 04

Wait, the one you reviewed on April?

• 1:08:59Speaker 03

  It's not Fisher Price.

• 1:09:00Speaker 02

We have one in the studio. You can go look.

• 1:09:02Speaker 03

  Yeah, but who makes it?

• 1:09:03Speaker 01

  Little Tykes.

• 1:09:04Speaker 03

What? Is Little Tykes not a sub-brand?

• 1:09:06Speaker 01

  Nope.

• 1:09:06Speaker 03

Oh, I can see why. Stop getting that wrong. Guys, the, the, someone asked r/retcond, can your phone read your mind?

• 1:09:16Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:09:18Speaker 03

What did the conspiracy theorists of Reddit respond?

• 1:09:22Speaker 01

They responded, they have to be listening to you all the time.

• 1:09:27Speaker 03

Yes, that's the number four answer. Phone listening through microphone slash AI pattern recognition. Marquez, you have the board. Which is a Jeopardy thing. I know I'm mixing up my games, but everyone shut up.

• 1:09:37Speaker 04

  That's fine.

• 1:09:37Speaker 01

Can your phone read your mind? It seems like it's reading your mind based on how much it knows about you, but it just knows so much about you.

• 1:09:45Speaker 05

  Real to

• 1:09:48Speaker 03

No, I think I think that might be the number two answer.

• 1:09:51Speaker 05

  Oh.

• 1:09:51Speaker 03

Yeah, coincidence slash algorithms are just really good at prediction. That's the number two answer.

• 1:09:55Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:09:55Speaker 03

  Jesus Christ, Marcus.

• 1:09:57Speaker 01

Damn it. Why does it think?

• 1:10:02Speaker 01

Ad tracking? Maybe that's just the number.

• 1:10:04Speaker 03

Hmm, nah, I mean, there's no.

• 1:10:09Speaker 02

It knows where I am. How does it know?

• 1:10:15Speaker 03

Is that? Can we call that the number one answer? I don't know.

• 1:10:19Speaker 05

  No.

• 1:10:20Speaker 03

No, no, no. What would, what would?

• 1:10:25Speaker 03

Honestly, Mariah, I'm giving you the number nine answer. The number nine answer is spiritual slash psychic abilities explanation.

• 1:10:34Speaker 05

  Yeah, this, this is

• 1:10:34Speaker 01

  Amazing.

• 1:10:35Speaker 05

Basically, from here on out, the number one answer is kind of reasonable, but everything else is crazy.

• 1:10:39Speaker 02

  Okay, okay.

• 1:10:40Speaker 03

What would Redditors, what would a Redditor type into their keyboard?

• 1:10:44Speaker 02

What was, remind me the prompt again, sorry.

• 1:10:45Speaker 03

Can your phone read your mind on r slash retcond?

• 1:10:50Speaker 01

  Neuralink.

• 1:10:54Speaker 03

Yeah, no, the number, the number.

• 1:10:57Speaker 03

The number six answer, brainwave slash EMF with phone technology.

• 1:11:02Speaker 02

I was literally gonna say that next. Okay.

• 1:11:04Speaker 03

Adam, it is, you have it.

• 1:11:06Speaker 02

  Conspiracy theories.

• 1:11:07Speaker 01

Conspiracy theories. All right. I'm gonna go with Bluetooth.

• 1:11:11Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 1:11:11Speaker 03

I do not see Bluetooth on here. Marquez.

• 1:11:14Speaker 01

  Eye tracking.

• 1:11:15Speaker 03

Eye tracking is not on here.

• 1:11:19Speaker 01

  I'm surprised.

• 1:11:20Speaker 02

So not like facial recognition? How does it know to unlock my phone?

• 1:11:24Speaker 03

Facial recognition is thanks to not on here.

• 1:11:28Speaker 02

How does it know what I look like?

• 1:11:31Speaker 01

  How does your phone?

• 1:11:33Speaker 03

  Know what you're

• 1:11:33Speaker 01

Does your phone read your mind? I'm a Redditor. Does your phone read your mind? Um, actually.

• 1:11:40Speaker 01

No, it doesn't read your mind.

• 1:11:43Speaker 03

Uh, that was, oh, skeptical slash dismissive responses.

• 1:11:46Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:11:46Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 1:11:47Speaker 03

  Way to go, Marquez.

• 1:11:48Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:11:52Speaker 01

  It does read your mind.

• 1:11:58Speaker 01

This has gotta be one of those.

• 1:11:59Speaker 05

Do you wanna say more? What else would it like? Yes?

• 1:12:01Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:12:02Speaker 05

  And?

• 1:12:03Speaker 01

Yeah, it's um, it's reading your thoughts.

• 1:12:07Speaker 03

I don't wanna give him those points, just but only cuz he's, I'm gonna be a little strict cuz you're ahead.

• 1:12:11Speaker 01

  Okay, okay, okay.

• 1:12:13Speaker 04

  It's reading your emotions.

• 1:12:15Speaker 03

Uh, no. I haven't seen that movie though, so I don't know.

• 1:12:20Speaker 05

  I, uh, I think I.

• 1:12:22Speaker 06

  Mariah.

• 1:12:23Speaker 02

Uh, did we already talk about targeted ads? I think we might have. Okay.

• 1:12:26Speaker 05

  Okay, hold on.

• 1:12:28Speaker 03

We'll leave a few more. We can, we can wrap this one up if you're, if you're curious with the, with the, yes, right?

• 1:12:32Speaker 04

  That's your answer.

• 1:12:34Speaker 01

We don't have number one yet, right?

• 1:12:35Speaker 03

  We don't have number one.

• 1:12:36Speaker 02

Can I include like Facebook conspiracy related things on this?

• 1:12:40Speaker 03

No. Well, what do you mean?

• 1:12:42Speaker 02

I don't know, man. Just Facebook.

• 1:12:45Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:12:46Speaker 02

  There's no zuckin' balls.

• 1:12:47Speaker 01

  I got one.

• 1:12:48Speaker 03

If you were a redditor, what would you, what would you write?

• 1:12:50Speaker 02

  Oh, the Illuminati.

• 1:12:54Speaker 05

  Um.

• 1:12:55Speaker 02

Secret, secret group knows where I'm at.

• 1:12:59Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:12:59Speaker 05

That's pretty, that's kind of like this, but not.

• 1:13:02Speaker 03

I think that's closer to, I thought that's closer to that. I thought that's what that movie was about.

• 1:13:06Speaker 05

This is like some, this is.

• 1:13:07Speaker 01

  A movie?

• 1:13:08Speaker 03

Who here has seen the movie Don't Look Up?

• 1:13:10Speaker 02

  I don't think so.

• 1:13:11Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah, I've seen it.

• 1:13:11Speaker 02

  Was that the?

• 1:13:12Speaker 03

Okay, give Adam the points then, just automatically, cuz I, I haven't seen it. Have you seen it?

• 1:13:16Speaker 05

Does he need these points? I haven't seen it, but I know a little bit more.

• 1:13:18Speaker 03

  It's, it's four points.

• 1:13:20Speaker 02

I know someone who needs points.

• 1:13:22Speaker 01

  We're just giving Adam points?

• 1:13:23Speaker 03

Yeah, Adam, you have the board.

• 1:13:25Speaker 04

  All right. Reasons.

• 1:13:29Speaker 05

  Say more.

• 1:13:29Speaker 03

  Say more.

• 1:13:30Speaker 04

So, because they want to sell you things.

• 1:13:34Speaker 03

  No.

• 1:13:37Speaker 01

I feel like I've seen this on Reddit a lot. This one time, I was talking about something, and then I got an ad for it.

• 1:13:42Speaker 03

Personal story of phone showing exactly what they thought about was the number one answer on the board. We didn't wanna give it to you earlier, but that was just two on the nose, Marquez.

• 1:13:49Speaker 01

Yeah, I've seen that on Reddit quite a bit.

• 1:13:51Speaker 03

The Michael Jordan of Reddit guessing.

• 1:13:53Speaker 01

  From the logo.

• 1:13:54Speaker 03

Let's, let's go one more, one more guess from everyone here, and then we'll wrap up this one.

• 1:13:58Speaker 04

All right, so this one is, is my phone reading my mind?

• 1:14:00Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:14:01Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:14:02Speaker 04

  As answered by Reddit folk.

• 1:14:04Speaker 05

All three of the remaining answers on the board are insane.

• 1:14:07Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:14:09Speaker 01

The artificial intelligence is simulating a human mind.

• 1:14:12Speaker 03

But we cannot give you those points, unfortunately.

• 1:14:14Speaker 02

Is there one where just like we're in a simulation?

• 1:14:16Speaker 03

Yes, the number six answer. We are living in a Truman Show-like simulation. Amazing, Mariah.

• 1:14:22Speaker 02

  Alright.

• 1:14:22Speaker 03

You have control of the board for this last.

• 1:14:25Speaker 02

A conspiracy theory. Name another conspiracy.

• 1:14:28Speaker 03

One of these is another conspiracy theory, and I'll give you a hint. This one is for the girls.

• 1:14:33Speaker 02

It's for the girls? Oh, no.

• 1:14:36Speaker 04

  Birds aren't real.

• 1:14:37Speaker 02

What are we, what are we lying about?

• 1:14:41Speaker 02

  I'm not supposed to tell.

• 1:14:43Speaker 05

Yeah, what did you guys talk about the last convention? What was the last meeting?

• 1:14:45Speaker 03

  Gwyneth Paltrow conspiracies.

• 1:14:47Speaker 02

  Goop?

• 1:14:48Speaker 03

Hmm, but what's the conspiracy? Come on, give me something.

• 1:14:51Speaker 02

She like, I already said Illuminati, um, aliens.

• 1:14:55Speaker 03

  Let me help.

• 1:14:58Speaker 01

  Pirates of the Caribbean?

• 1:15:00Speaker 02

  Conspiracy theory, conspiracy theory.

• 1:15:02Speaker 04

The blood of the youth, no.

• 1:15:08Speaker 02

  Pizza gate!

• 1:15:10Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:15:11Speaker 02

  Sorry, I got that.

• 1:15:13Speaker 01

Can your phone read your mind?

• 1:15:17Speaker 02

  Conspiracy, conspiracy, conspiracy.

• 1:15:20Speaker 04

  I got nothing.

• 1:15:20Speaker 01

I can't think of anything else.

• 1:15:23Speaker 03

  Well.

• 1:15:24Speaker 01

  What did we miss?

• 1:15:25Speaker 05

That's okay. I think we wrap this one up.

• 1:15:28Speaker 02

  What is it?

• 1:15:29Speaker 05

The last two on the board are the number three answer, manifestation theory. We're creating these synchronicities. Or number seven answer, haptic feedback, reading energy vibrations through hands.

• 1:15:40Speaker 02

  The crystals.

• 1:15:42Speaker 04

  The frequencies and the manifestation.

• 1:15:44Speaker 02

  Frequency vibration.

• 1:15:47Speaker 04

  Holy crap, okay.

• 1:15:48Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:15:49Speaker 05

The point standings now are Mariah with 116 points at the back, Adam with 260 points in the middle, and Marquez with a whopping 368 points in the lead.

• 1:15:59Speaker 02

  Is this a tech podcast?

• 1:16:01Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:16:02Speaker 03

It's about to be because it's time to hit you guys with the absolute banger of this game.

• 1:16:07Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:16:08Speaker 03

The question is. This is an r slash android.

• 1:16:12Speaker 04

  Oh, let's go.

• 1:16:13Speaker 01

  I'm ready.

• 1:16:13Speaker 03

  Getting for today.

• 1:16:14Speaker 01

  I've spent enough hours.

• 1:16:15Speaker 04

I was in there this morning. Let's go.

• 1:16:18Speaker 03

What is the worst android phone you've ever owned?

• 1:16:23Speaker 06

  Marquez.

• 1:16:24Speaker 01

God, there's so many that could be number one. HTC Thunderbolt.

• 1:16:29Speaker 05

  Number three answer.

• 1:16:30Speaker 02

  No way, really?

• 1:16:33Speaker 01

  Okay, good. Worst Android phone.

• 1:16:38Speaker 01

I want to go with a Nexus.

• 1:16:40Speaker 04

I was thinking something similar, but...

• 1:16:42Speaker 01

  Nexus 4.

• 1:16:46Speaker 03

Nexus 4 is literally on there, I apologize.

• 1:16:48Speaker 04

  What?

• 1:16:49Speaker 01

Okay. Worst Android phone I've ever used.

• 1:16:53Speaker 01

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. It's probably not on there yet. It's probably too soon for that to get there.

• 1:17:03Speaker 04

Galaxy S8 Edge, or S7 Edge. I forget which one it was.

• 1:17:10Speaker 02

Pixel 6, no reason in particular.

• 1:17:12Speaker 03

  Pixel 6 is on there!

• 1:17:15Speaker 01

  From experience.

• 1:17:16Speaker 03

Specifically noted were the battery life and overheating issues.

• 1:17:19Speaker 02

  Let's go, okay.

• 1:17:20Speaker 04

  Oh my god.

• 1:17:21Speaker 02

Galaxy S8? Oh, no, no. Yes, I'm gonna say that one. No? Okay.

• 1:17:27Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:17:28Speaker 01

Worst Android phone I've ever used.

• 1:17:31Speaker 02

What's the really, really thick... Is it Motorola phone? Oh my god. What's the big daddy phone?

• 1:17:39Speaker 04

  Motorola...

• 1:17:40Speaker 02

  I don't know. I don't know.

• 1:17:42Speaker 04

Motorola... Come on, just name a Motorola phone. Any Motorola phone. You can do it.

• 1:17:48Speaker 02

What does Paris Hilton have? I don't know. You know the one I'm talking about?

• 1:17:53Speaker 04

  I don't.

• 1:17:53Speaker 01

  She had a razor fold.

• 1:17:54Speaker 02

Can I Google this? What is this thing called?

• 1:18:00Speaker 01

  Galaxy Nexus.

• 1:18:03Speaker 04

  No, that one everyone loved.

• 1:18:05Speaker 01

I loved it, but it had some problems.

• 1:18:09Speaker 01

LG Wing. Oh, there's a lot of LG phones like that in here. Okay, LG G8?

• 1:18:18Speaker 04

  No, that one was awesome.

• 1:18:19Speaker 01

  Okay, LG G9? Okay.

• 1:18:22Speaker 04

  LG G6.

• 1:18:24Speaker 02

  The Note 7.

• 1:18:26Speaker 04

Oh, why are you Googling this?

• 1:18:31Speaker 02

Listen, this isn't my life. I don't know all these phones.

• 1:18:33Speaker 03

Note 7 noted for its explosion risk. That makes sense.

• 1:18:37Speaker 01

  That one did explode.

• 1:18:38Speaker 02

What's the one that like exploded the Samsung phone?

• 1:18:42Speaker 01

  That was the Note 7.

• 1:18:43Speaker 02

  Was that the one?

• 1:18:45Speaker 01

  That was the one.

• 1:18:46Speaker 02

  Great, okay.

• 1:18:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:18:49Speaker 02

Hmm, you know, another Android phone. Is there like a, like a Razer situation in here?

• 1:18:58Speaker 03

Y'all give that one to you. Razer M was on there. I'm only giving you that one because you're so.

• 1:19:06Speaker 01

  What number was that?

• 1:19:08Speaker 03

  Just Razer M.

• 1:19:08Speaker 01

Like we still don't have 1, 2, or 3, right?

• 1:19:10Speaker 03

  Oh, yes.

• 1:19:11Speaker 05

  You have 3, you don't have 1 or 2.

• 1:19:12Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:19:13Speaker 03

  1, 2, 5, 7, 10.

• 1:19:15Speaker 02

  Worst Android phone ever.

• 1:19:16Speaker 01

  Ever.

• 1:19:17Speaker 04

  Ever made.

• 1:19:17Speaker 02

  Ever made.

• 1:19:18Speaker 03

Or ever that they used, right? Is it? Own, okay, okay. Okay. Guys, we're getting close to it for a little bit.

• 1:19:28Speaker 02

Can I say the Samsung Fold 1?

• 1:19:30Speaker 03

And that is not on here.

• 1:19:32Speaker 04

  That is good.

• 1:19:35Speaker 01

  So bad. Bad phone.

• 1:19:38Speaker 04

  The Z Flip 1?

• 1:19:41Speaker 01

I'm gonna think of like phones that were bust of the year. Like, it's not gonna be this Saga Solana, it's not gonna be upvoted a lot, but.

• 1:19:47Speaker 02

Something, is there a lot of old stuff on this list?

• 1:19:49Speaker 04

Well, it has to be a phone that people have owned.

• 1:19:50Speaker 03

This is not upvoted, this is how, like, how many people actually wrote this down?

• 1:19:55Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:19:55Speaker 03

  Yeah, this is not upvoted.

• 1:19:57Speaker 01

How many people wrote it? Oh, I was gonna say Red Hydrogen. But nobody bought that, so that's not gonna be up there.

• 1:20:05Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:20:06Speaker 02

  Start naming phones, man.

• 1:20:08Speaker 01

  What's a phone that a lot of?

• 1:20:09Speaker 03

  That's what I'm thinking.

• 1:20:11Speaker 01

A lot of people bought it and a lot of people didn't like it.

• 1:20:13Speaker 03

  The Motorola Droid X?

• 1:20:17Speaker 04

  I love that phone.

• 1:20:18Speaker 05

It was lumped in with Motorola Droid series/Razer.

• 1:20:21Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:20:21Speaker 05

  That's one answer.

• 1:20:23Speaker 02

  What's that Windows phone?

• 1:20:26Speaker 03

  Not an Android phone.

• 1:20:27Speaker 01

  In R/Android?

• 1:20:28Speaker 02

  Oh my god, it's not.

• 1:20:31Speaker 02

  Mandela effect?

• 1:20:33Speaker 03

  Right, you just got retconned.

• 1:20:36Speaker 02

  Android phones are the worst.

• 1:20:38Speaker 03

Guys, I can, uh, we can, we can wrap this up if people are getting slow, but I will say.

• 1:20:42Speaker 02

I don't know any Android phones, man.

• 1:20:43Speaker 03

Adam and Marquez, you guys were circling the drain earlier.

• 1:20:46Speaker 01

  Where, when?

• 1:20:48Speaker 04

  LG G3.

• 1:20:49Speaker 05

  No.

• 1:20:50Speaker 03

  Damn it.

• 1:20:51Speaker 01

  LG Wing.

• 1:20:52Speaker 05

  I said that, no.

• 1:20:53Speaker 02

No one cares about that phone.

• 1:20:55Speaker 01

  LG G5.

• 1:20:56Speaker 05

  No.

• 1:20:58Speaker 04

  LG G1.

• 1:20:59Speaker 06

  Marquez.

• 1:21:00Speaker 01

  LG G4.

• 1:21:01Speaker 03

Yes! Come on! The number one answer on this.

• 1:21:06Speaker 02

  The G4?

• 1:21:07Speaker 03

32 people. The G4 was sick.

• 1:21:08Speaker 01

  The G4?

• 1:21:09Speaker 03

People said that it had boot loop issues.

• 1:21:11Speaker 01

Oh, right. The G4 was, yeah, it was, yeah, it was bad.

• 1:21:15Speaker 04

I was gonna say G Flex.

• 1:21:16Speaker 01

The G5 had like the modular, like, pull out the battery thing? But the G4 was, was.

• 1:21:21Speaker 03

  That was number one?

• 1:21:22Speaker 05

  Okay. That was number one.

• 1:21:23Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 1:21:24Speaker 03

Guys, I think we should wrap it here. There is no possible way.

• 1:21:27Speaker 01

Oh, wait, no, I could get, I could get one. Although, no one bought them. I think like Sony Xperia 1.

• 1:21:33Speaker 05

  Give it to him!

• 1:21:33Speaker 03

All Sony Xperia phones is the number 10 answer.

• 1:21:38Speaker 02

What? Who even knows those exist?

• 1:21:40Speaker 03

  Six people apparently.

• 1:21:42Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 1:21:43Speaker 02

  This is a small thread.

• 1:21:45Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:21:45Speaker 01

  Okay, wow.

• 1:21:46Speaker 02

That's it? That's all of them?

• 1:21:47Speaker 04

  That's all of them.

• 1:21:48Speaker 05

  There's more.

• 1:21:48Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 1:21:49Speaker 03

Guys, the answers left on the board include the number 2 answer, the Samsung Galaxy J series slash Samsung budget phones noted their laggy, terrible experience. The Samsung S21 and S22 series for overhearing, excuse me, overheating and people were upset about Exynos.

• 1:22:08Speaker 01

  S20 Ultra?

• 1:22:10Speaker 03

Uh, just 21 and 22 series is what, uh, Quinn decided to sum up for us.

• 1:22:13Speaker 04

  Interesting.

• 1:22:14Speaker 03

And number 7, 12 people put OnePlus early models, including the 3T and 7 Pro for software issues.

• 1:22:21Speaker 01

7 Pro is one of my favorite phones ever.

• 1:22:23Speaker 04

  Yeah, phone's awesome.

• 1:22:24Speaker 01

  Interesting. Wow.

• 1:22:24Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:22:26Speaker 02

  Well, okay.

• 1:22:27Speaker 04

  I was good.

• 1:22:28Speaker 02

  Hear me out.

• 1:22:28Speaker 04

  So I won, right?

• 1:22:29Speaker 02

Hear me out. We're combining our points.

• 1:22:31Speaker 04

  Ooh.

• 1:22:32Speaker 02

  Into one to beat.

• 1:22:33Speaker 04

I don't, I still think we would win.

• 1:22:35Speaker 03

  You still wouldn't beat him.

• 1:22:36Speaker 02

  There's, surely there's. Surely it's not possible.

• 1:22:41Speaker 03

Uh, you would still be about 30 points short.

• 1:22:43Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 1:22:44Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 1:22:44Speaker 03

  Do you guys want?

• 1:22:45Speaker 04

Okay, Marquez, I have a proposition.

• 1:22:48Speaker 03

I think, I think we gotta wrap this game up and we'll, we'll pick it up maybe as a segment of the next trivia extravaganza. Guys.

• 1:22:55Speaker 03

The lights are getting really weird today.

• 1:22:59Speaker 03

Anyway, thank you for playing Reddit Family Food. Our final scores, Mariah the Caboose with 153 points, Adam carrying the one with 297 points, and Marquez absolutely dominating the field with 446 points. Thank you for playing. Thank you Rufus for coming on today's little segment game thing. Andrew, David, we miss you. Come back.

• 1:23:27Speaker 01

Come back, David. You can't be far.

• 1:23:28Speaker 04

The lights are so bright at the big table.

• 1:23:30Speaker 01

  Come back.

• 1:23:31Speaker 04

  I miss my corner.

• 1:23:32Speaker 01

You can bring all the new ones with you, the little ones.

• 1:23:35Speaker 03

Guys, with that, we have our actual trivia.

• 1:23:38Speaker 02

  Oh, no.

• 1:23:39Speaker 04

  Okay, I'm ready.

• 1:23:41Speaker 03

No one hit your buzzer because it'll mess up the computer.

• 1:23:43Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 1:23:43Speaker 02

  Is there another question?

• 1:23:44Speaker 03

There is another question. It's also about Google.

• 1:23:47Speaker 02

  No.

• 1:23:48Speaker 03

Guys, Google's official blog, The Keyword, which is notoriously wrong about Google things all the time, has a convoluted and frankly confusing article about how Gemini got its name. I've read it several times and I'm still not sure where they got the name Gemini from. But you know what is not mentioned on this confusing article? What Gemini was called when it was first, when it was first released? Because if everyone remembers, they changed the name to Gemini after a little bit. Oh, I remember. I remember. What was Gemini called upon its release? I know everyone's gonna be like, oh, when it was released, it was a chatbot. Now it's like a different... Shut up. Like, I don't care.

• 1:24:27Speaker 04

  Not that.

• 1:24:28Speaker 03

  I don't care. Tiny man.

• 1:24:30Speaker 04

  Got it. Tiny man.

• 1:24:32Speaker 02

What are those tiny guys doing?

• 1:24:33Speaker 03

Yeah, they're stepping on your computer.

• 1:24:35Speaker 02

  They're inside my computer.

• 1:24:38Speaker 03

Yeah, they're working on... Anyway, we'll be right back after the break.

• 1:24:42Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:24:51Speaker 01

Support for the show comes from Jira by Atlassian. So AI is only as useful as the context it has to work from, but when that context is scattered across tools like threads and DMs, that means your team and your AI agents end up flying kind of blind. That's the problem Jira solves. What's the gold tied to your project? What got decided last week in Slack? Atlassian's teamwork graph pulls all of these pieces together from Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more, so nothing falls through the cracks. With Jira, you can actually share that context with the AI agents you already use, like Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, assign them work directly, or connect your agents through MCP. Spend less time digging through endless links and DMs, less time chasing down what got decided and by who, and more time actually shipping. Learn more at jira.com.

Ask yourself, what are your best people spending their time on right now? Expense reports, receipt chasing, month-end close that takes weeks. You become what you spend on, and that's not what you're building toward. Brex is the intelligent finance platform that eliminates that work before it starts. AI agents that handle the manual stuff automatically, so your team can spend their time on what actually compounds. It's time to get Brex AF. Learn more at brex.com/af.

• 1:27:00Speaker 01

All right, welcome back to our last little segment here. Chaos of the game show is fun, but we actually do have a little bit more tech to talk about, believe it or not. It's a tech podcast.

• 1:27:08Speaker 04

Yeah, we probably shouldn't have this before the game, not anything.

• 1:27:10Speaker 01

Yeah, for those of you who are dedicated, who are really making it this far, we do actually want to chat briefly about Fitbit Air, which is a new announcement technically from Google, who bought Fitbit and then turned Fitbit into Google Health.

• 1:27:22Speaker 04

And what, wait, so what was Google Fit?

• 1:27:25Speaker 01

So Google, well, Google Fit is no more. And there was the Fitbit app, which they moved into this beta, which was all this new stuff. It is now the Google Health app.

• 1:27:35Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:27:36Speaker 01

So the Fitbit Air, this is a new screenless, we saw the leaks of this, we talked about it like two or three episodes before. Their screenless fitness tracker that is supposed to compete directly with the Whoop and all the other screenless fitness trackers, but the Whoop is a big one.

• 1:27:48Speaker 04

  It's official now.

• 1:27:49Speaker 01

It is. It's really interesting. I think they're coming straight for Whoop's lunch, because I think the number one thing you'd probably hear from Whoop customers, but what they don't like is that it's a subscription. And it's not cheap. It's like $250 to $350 a year, depending on which subscription level you get. So the Fitbit is 99 bucks, unlike the Whoop, which was 50, but that is in addition to a $9.99 per month subscription to Google Health Premium, which is actually not necessary to use the Fitbit. So you can use the Fitbit without the subscription and does basic stuff, calorie tracking, heartbeats, stuff like that. But for all the features, 10 bucks a month.

• 1:28:25Speaker 04

You just don't get like the AI health coach and stuff.

• 1:28:27Speaker 01

Yeah, and like the more detailed tracking and things like that, and workouts, automatic workout detection, all that's fun stuff. So it is definitely undercutting the Whoop price. And then for people who were thinking about getting a Whoop, or were thinking, I don't want to spend as much as I am on the Whoop, maybe I'll move to the Google side of things. It'll work on iOS or Android.

• 1:28:45Speaker 04

  Which is crazy to me.

• 1:28:46Speaker 01

  Which is nice.

• 1:28:47Speaker 04

  That is weird.

• 1:28:47Speaker 01

You know, obviously, a lot of these things are locked to one side or the other. Pixel Watch is only going to work on Android. Apple Watch is only going to work on Apple side of the fence. But you know, these fitness trackers. Working with both is nice. And it's got some nice features, so it's gonna have a seven day battery life roughly. You saw the different colors, there's like a Steph Curry special edition, but there's also a black one. You can charge it for five minutes to get one day of battery life.

• 1:29:11Speaker 04

  Clutch.

• 1:29:12Speaker 01

It has a regular charger, it doesn't have like that, the Whoop charger.

• 1:29:15Speaker 04

No, it has like a pin, well, it has a proprietary charger.

• 1:29:18Speaker 01

  It has a proprietary charger.

• 1:29:19Speaker 04

The Whoop charger is like a little puck that you can like slide onto the Whoop itself.

• 1:29:23Speaker 01

  That is sick.

• 1:29:23Speaker 04

  It's really cool.

• 1:29:24Speaker 01

  I like that a lot.

• 1:29:25Speaker 04

I will say, when I was using it for a bit, I would slide it onto the Whoop and then just like go about my day. That thing slaps into everything. Every corner you turn around, you're hitting it.

• 1:29:34Speaker 01

But as soon as it's done, you take it off and it's right back.

• 1:29:36Speaker 04

Yeah, it's super dope that you don't even have to take it off to charge it.

• 1:29:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:29:39Speaker 04

  Really clever.

• 1:29:40Speaker 01

So 50 meters of water resistance, it should have a haptic alarm. There's like a bunch of features you would expect in the Fitbit Air.

• 1:29:49Speaker 04

  No notifications for Andrew, though.

• 1:29:51Speaker 01

No notifications, obviously no screen, no time. But yeah, as far as competing directly with the Whoop, it feels like this is just like, hey, do the same thing that Whoop does. Give all the same information, but make it cheaper.

• 1:30:03Speaker 04

I'm really excited for this because I've been using the Pixel Watch 3 for a bit. And I was paying for the Fitbit Premium and I had the whole AI beta coach thing this whole time. And I really liked it, but it required me to wear the Pixel Watch. And it's not that I don't like wearing a Pixel Watch, it's just that I also like wearing regular watches. So whenever I would wear a different watch, I all of a sudden wouldn't get my steps. I wouldn't get my sleep tracking, I wouldn't get all these things. And it's like, it's not a big deal, who cares, whatever, it's not the end of the world. But it's just like a nice to have thing. And Fitbit to me was always that kind of product where you just put it on, like when it first came out. It was just like a small little thing that you put in a strap, a band, and you could swap out the bands, just like this one. And it was like one of the first ones to do that and just give you like basic tracking stuff. And that's all I've wanted for so long, so I'm very glad that they're doing this.

• 1:30:48Speaker 04

I'm just very confused that they're killing the Fitbit brand. Which makes no sense to me.

• 1:30:52Speaker 01

It's just a Google thing to do.

• 1:30:54Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's fair.

• 1:30:55Speaker 01

  And sort of.

• 1:30:55Speaker 04

But Fitbit is like, it has such good brand recognition. Like, oh, it's the Fitbit. You know, like now they're turning it into Google Health, which has like a whole different set of implications and.

• 1:31:05Speaker 01

The product is still a Fitbit.

• 1:31:07Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:31:07Speaker 01

So you're still buying a Fitbit.

• 1:31:09Speaker 04

But then you have to attach it to Google Health.

• 1:31:11Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:31:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:31:12Speaker 04

Not the Fitbit app. Like if I'm on an iPhone and I go to Best Buy and I buy a Fitbit.

• 1:31:16Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:31:16Speaker 04

Now I need to download a Google Health app, which hits different.

• 1:31:19Speaker 02

Yeah. It's surprising as like a legacy brand that they would want to rename after how many years they have been Fitbit. Because like, like you said, I don't think, you know, a boomer is going to be like, what? Google's tracking my stuff?

• 1:31:31Speaker 04

  Exactly.

• 1:31:31Speaker 02

Even though Google's owned them for years. And they know what a Fitbit is, but they don't know what Google Health is or like, you know, all these other things. It feels like a big unnecessary step maybe, but if they're trying to consolidate the brand as a whole for all their health stuff.

• 1:31:45Speaker 04

I mean, I get why they're doing it. It's just, I feel like Fitbit has such good brand cachet.

• 1:31:49Speaker 02

  It does.

• 1:31:50Speaker 01

Yeah, I think the one thing, so Whoop's obviously already very popular and has been for a long time. And I think the biggest advantage I actually see between them now that I, I plan on testing them both at the same time, side by side and really investigating and digging deep.

• 1:32:03Speaker 04

You're like our little lab rat.

• 1:32:04Speaker 01

Yeah, honestly, I'm just going to wear them both. It's going to be horrible. But the thing that Whoop has going for it is there's a ton of accessories for it.

• 1:32:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:32:11Speaker 01

That aren't available, at least out the gate right now with the Fitbit Air. I'm sure in two seconds on Amazon, there'll be a ton of third party ones.

• 1:32:17Speaker 04

  Absolutely.

• 1:32:18Speaker 01

But like when you go to buy a Whoop, there's like, oh, you want a Whoop? Do you also want a chest strap? Do you also want like a thousand extra bands? And also we have underwear that you could put the Whoop in. Like they have a ton of stuff. And the Fitbit Air, there's not even a chest strap or an armband. It's just the normal bands on your wrist.

• 1:32:31Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:32:31Speaker 01

Yet. So that's what I'm noticing, but I'm going to test them. I'll have them side by side. So I'll literally A B test like exactly how long the battery life is. I'm going to do the same workouts with both of them. I think it'll be really interesting. I also think they'll be very similar.

• 1:32:44Speaker 04

Whoop is really good at the activity auto detection. So I'm curious.

• 1:32:48Speaker 01

That's what I like to hear.

• 1:32:48Speaker 04

  Is really good too.

• 1:32:50Speaker 01

It's surprising, well. The Apple Watch that I've been wearing for a long time is not good at that. It does it sometimes, like if my GPS location is moving for a while and I'm outside, then it'll be like, "Oh, are you doing an outdoor walk?" But I could start biking, I could start playing ultimate, I could start practice, I could start running, and it doesn't really usually auto-start. So I'm curious to see how well these will like auto-detect and then auto-measure and then tag them accurately.

• 1:33:14Speaker 04

Well, the Whoop to my memory, because I haven't used it in like a year or two, I think. Maybe like a year, but it doesn't detect it as you're doing it. Like you have to go through the activity and then afterwards it'll look back on your data and be like, "Oh, there was elevated heart rate here and according to their phone, they were outside, so maybe they're doing a run." And then it'll like tag it as a run.

• 1:33:32Speaker 01

  Right, exactly.

• 1:33:33Speaker 04

  That kind of thing.

• 1:33:34Speaker 01

And then if it tags it wrong, you can adjust it.

• 1:33:36Speaker 04

Yeah, but I do like on the Apple Watch and on like the Pixel Watch, if I'm doing something, it'll just be like, "It looks like you're walking. Do you want to start a workout?" Like, that's pretty cool.

• 1:33:43Speaker 01

The thing on the watches is when you start a workout, then it's doing this way, way more granular measuring. It's doing like way more sampling and way more frequent measuring of heart rate and things like that, which is why I start the workout manually every time, because I want to get that data. So I'm curious, like if I go start a practice or if I go start a HIIT workout and then my heart rate drops between sets, is it gonna go, "Oh, don't have to measure anymore."

• 1:34:05Speaker 04

  That's true.

• 1:34:06Speaker 01

Not really sure how it's gonna go, but that's what we'll find out. I'm gonna, so my plan, tell me if you like this planner, if this is dumb. I'm gonna keep the Apple Watch on my right wrist.

• 1:34:14Speaker 04

  I don't like it.

• 1:34:16Speaker 01

I'm gonna have the Fitbit Air and the Whoop on my left wrist.

• 1:34:19Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:34:20Speaker 01

And then I'm gonna do all my workouts wearing all three. So I have a control, because I know what numbers I usually get out of the Apple Watch, but I'll do the workouts, I'll do the practices, and then I'll get both of the readings from the Whoop and the Fitbit Air and compare them.

• 1:34:32Speaker 04

Can we get you like a chest strap? How do you feel about being chest strapped up?

• 1:34:36Speaker 01

I don't mind that, but the chest strap for the Whoop is probably gonna measure differently from the arm strap, the armband for the Fitbit. So that's why I'm keeping them both on the wrist.

• 1:34:44Speaker 04

  Okay, yeah, that makes sense.

• 1:34:45Speaker 02

  You, you can do that.

• 1:34:48Speaker 04

  You have fun, Sam.

• 1:34:49Speaker 02

  You can wear all three.

• 1:34:50Speaker 01

  You sound thrilled for me.

• 1:34:51Speaker 02

Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's the best way to probably test it. Would I approach you wearing all three? I might not.

• 1:34:59Speaker 01

No, I'll be I'll be repelling people from me for the three weeks that I need to test them. But yeah, hopefully the video is worth it.

• 1:35:07Speaker 04

Mariah, which one are you getting?

• 1:35:08Speaker 02

Um, probably. I mean, I got Pixel Watch already.

• 1:35:12Speaker 04

So you're not going to get a Fitbit? You're good?

• 1:35:14Speaker 02

I think I'm good. I do enjoy a low barrier to entry. I think a low price point is good and I don't necessarily need the screen. It is interesting that it does only save the data for 30 days. Is that pretty standard for both of these?

• 1:35:27Speaker 04

Well, I think that saves it on the device for 30 days. So if you like, forget your phone or your phone breaks or something, it'll still track for 30 days. And then it'll transfer over.

• 1:35:36Speaker 02

Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna buy one.

• 1:35:38Speaker 01

You know what's nice about you have a Pixel Watch?

• 1:35:40Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:35:40Speaker 01

You know what's nice about the Fitbit Air is that also talks to Google Health. And so you can hot swap between them and they will just pick up where the other left off. So if you don't want to wear the Pixel Watch while sleeping, the Fitbit Air can be your sleep tracker. And then you swap back to the watch during the daytime. And it'll sort of just keep all the data in line.

• 1:36:00Speaker 04

  Which I think sounds old.

• 1:36:00Speaker 01

  That's kind of cool.

• 1:36:01Speaker 02

I just don't think I need to track every moment of my existence. To have that data.

• 1:36:06Speaker 04

  Wrong.

• 1:36:07Speaker 02

Because I'm not trying to optimize, but I do appreciate the people that want to optimize.

• 1:36:11Speaker 01

  I need the data.

• 1:36:12Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:36:12Speaker 01

I need to know how many steps I've taken in my lifetime.

• 1:36:15Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:36:15Speaker 01

  It's very important to me.

• 1:36:16Speaker 02

Got to hit that high score.

• 1:36:17Speaker 01

Yeah. Well, there it is. I mean, yeah, stay tuned for the for the video. Obviously, that's it's in the works, which means I'll be getting my hands on both soon. So TBD. But yeah, I'm just I'm just glad I got the points in in our little game that we played. Speaking of points, though.

• 1:36:32Speaker 04

My turn. My turn to get points.

• 1:36:34Speaker 01

Time for the actual trivia questions.

• 1:36:38Speaker 04

  Here we go.

• 1:36:39Speaker 02

I already forgot all the questions.

• 1:36:41Speaker 03

All right, everybody. Nobody asked, except for me. How many Google products and services have the letters B O O K next to each other?

• 1:36:59Speaker 03

And this is closest without going over. Price is Right rules.

• 1:37:02Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:37:04Speaker 01

  Have ever existed.

• 1:37:06Speaker 04

  Well, there's.

• 1:37:09Speaker 04

There's Facebook. There's the Books Palma.

• 1:37:16Speaker 02

Wait, this is, but this is Google specific product.

• 1:37:18Speaker 04

  There's Barnes and Nobles.

• 1:37:20Speaker 01

  MacBook.

• 1:37:22Speaker 04

  MacBook Pro.

• 1:37:23Speaker 03

All right, who would like to go first?

• 1:37:26Speaker 01

I'll go because I can explain my silly little chart here.

• 1:37:28Speaker 03

All right, what do we got?

• 1:37:29Speaker 01

  So my number is six.

• 1:37:31Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:37:31Speaker 01

I don't actually know the name of six, but I figure there's Chromebook Pixel. There is regular Chromebooks. There is Google Books. There's Google Book.

• 1:37:41Speaker 03

  That's four.

• 1:37:41Speaker 01

And then there's probably some sort of like a book finder service that they had. And then there's probably like a bookings service that they also had.

• 1:37:47Speaker 03

Okay, if there was a booking service, then it wasn't, it didn't have the word book in it. And Google Books was the book finding service. But I will say six is under the number I found.

• 1:37:56Speaker 01

  Oh, God.

• 1:37:57Speaker 03

So you are technically still in contention.

• 1:37:59Speaker 01

Okay, I had five, so I'm out.

• 1:38:01Speaker 03

And you don't care to list any of them?

• 1:38:03Speaker 01

  Um, no.

• 1:38:04Speaker 03

Okay. Mariah, what did you put? If it's seven or eight or nine, you win.

• 1:38:11Speaker 02

  Well.

• 1:38:13Speaker 02

I'm gonna make David so proud. I picked just a really round number, lucky 13.

• 1:38:19Speaker 03

  Unfortunately, that is over.

• 1:38:21Speaker 02

  Oh, really?

• 1:38:22Speaker 03

That is over because I just accidentally spoiled the answer. The answer is nine. I found nine Google products and services. They are, are you ready?

• 1:38:30Speaker 01

I'm ready. For times like these. I actually made, I got a point.

• 1:38:35Speaker 03

  The Chromebook.

• 1:38:36Speaker 01

  Yeah. Yeah.

• 1:38:37Speaker 03

  The Google Book.

• 1:38:37Speaker 01

  Of course. Yep.

• 1:38:38Speaker 03

  Google Books.

• 1:38:39Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 1:38:40Speaker 03

Google Notebook, which was the precursor to Google Keep.

• 1:38:43Speaker 01

  Notebook.

• 1:38:43Speaker 03

No, no, no. Yeah, then, then Notebook Alum.

• 1:38:45Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:38:46Speaker 03

So Google Notebook and Notebook Alum are two things. Then the Chromebook Pixel.

• 1:38:50Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:38:51Speaker 03

  The Pixelbook. The Pixelbook Go.

• 1:38:54Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:38:55Speaker 03

  And, and Google Bookmarks. Congratulations.

• 1:38:59Speaker 01

Wow, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Sorry, Andrew.

• 1:39:01Speaker 03

Marquez, this is a big day.

• 1:39:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:39:03Speaker 03

Because with that point, you have officially passed Andrew.

• 1:39:09Speaker 01

  That is.

• 1:39:09Speaker 03

Andrew is now carrying the one like he has for years at 24 points. Marquez is smacked out in the middle of 25 and David is still in first place with a whopping 28 points.

• 1:39:20Speaker 01

All right, this is, this is our chance. I'm gonna tie it again for you, Andrew.

• 1:39:27Speaker 03

Before Gemini was called Gemini, it was called what? Which is a little silly because it was only called this a handful of years ago, but maybe we forgot. Maybe we forgot.

• 1:39:39Speaker 01

And I think it was only called this for like

• 1:39:40Speaker 03

  Months.

• 1:39:41Speaker 01

  Eight months or something.

• 1:39:42Speaker 03

Yeah. And I don't know why they changed it.

• 1:39:46Speaker 04

  Because branding.

• 1:39:48Speaker 01

They just thought of a better name. They're like, time to kill another thing.

• 1:39:51Speaker 04

Did they think of a better name though? I don't know that to be true.

• 1:39:54Speaker 03

  I, yeah, I don't know.

• 1:39:55Speaker 04

I mean, this was a pretty poor name if it's the one I'm thinking of.

• 1:39:58Speaker 03

I thought it was a great name.

• 1:40:00Speaker 01

  I kinda liked it.

• 1:40:01Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:40:02Speaker 03

All right. Adam, why don't you think it's a poor name? Why don't you read the poor name first?

• 1:40:06Speaker 04

Terrible branding name. Not a name. I went with Google Bard.

• 1:40:11Speaker 03

  Google Bard?

• 1:40:12Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 1:40:13Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:40:14Speaker 02

  I knew that.

• 1:40:15Speaker 03

  Marquez, what did you put?

• 1:40:16Speaker 01

I want to see what Mariah put. I put Bard.

• 1:40:19Speaker 03

  Bard is correct.

• 1:40:20Speaker 02

  Nice. Thank you.

• 1:40:21Speaker 03

  Mariah, you also put Bard.

• 1:40:23Speaker 02

In hindsight, I did actually know that information, but I was along the astrological signs. So I put, what is Zodiac Killer?

• 1:40:30Speaker 03

  Whoa. You spelled Zodiac wrong.

• 1:40:33Speaker 02

Oh, it's the thought. It's the thought. Audio listeners don't know the difference.

• 1:40:39Speaker 01

When Google, when Google eventually kills Gemini at some point, they can call themselves the Zodiac Killer.

• 1:40:45Speaker 04

  Zodiac Killers. There you go.

• 1:40:46Speaker 02

  It's available.

• 1:40:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:40:50Speaker 04

Thank you, listeners, for sticking with us throughout this whole ordeal. If you're still here, comment. I don't know. What should they comment, Marquez?

• 1:40:57Speaker 01

  Pancake mix.

• 1:40:58Speaker 04

  Pancake mix. There you go.

• 1:41:00Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:41:00Speaker 03

  Bisquick.

• 1:41:01Speaker 01

If you made, if you made it this far, comment, comment Pancake Mix. Just, just the Bisquick and the, and the egg and the milk and then the whisk.

• 1:41:08Speaker 04

Wait, Mariah, how do you say egg?

• 1:41:09Speaker 03

  Nesquick, the same thing?

• 1:41:10Speaker 01

  Throw in the oven, 350.

• 1:41:13Speaker 02

  Egg?

• 1:41:14Speaker 03

  Oof.

• 1:41:15Speaker 02

  Egg?

• 1:41:16Speaker 01

Egg is crazy. Egg is A Y G is crazy. Egg.

• 1:41:20Speaker 03

How do you guys say it?

• 1:41:21Speaker 04

  Egg.

• 1:41:22Speaker 03

  And I?

• 1:41:23Speaker 02

Give me some, give me an egg for that pancake mix.

• 1:41:27Speaker 03

They sound similar enough to me.

• 1:41:30Speaker 01

I'll let the commenters decide. Thanks for watching. Thanks for listening and thanks, of course, for subscribing. The Waveform Podcast is rocketing towards a million subscribers. I believe it.
